Visited in March 2022. 2.5 hr of queue at 10:30 am in Tuesday. Be prepared for more time later. Do visit the upper floors they r good and view is nice. Plan for visit in evening it is great. Kids and womens can go in separate line which is shorter or be part of the common queue. Great experience

The place deserves at least two visits - one during the day to enjoy the experience in full daylight and one in the evening, when the lights are on highlighting the details. Good time is the time of evening prayers and taking the Holly Book to sleep at around 10 p.m. During the day it is worth to visit the place with a local guide who will show you places that otherwise you would miss or have no idea that you could visit like the kitchens serving 40 to 50 thousand meals each day... And you enjoy that beautiful place free. Unfortunately taking photographs in the temple is strictly forbidden - pictures only outside...

Even after going there, it doesn't feel like we have reached here, it looks more beautiful in the evening, the light around and the gold shining from the lake, it looks like a dream, this place is a symbol of peace, tranquility and community. , cleanliness is also taken special care here, it is also true that people who come here pray for their well-being and it is fulfilled, it is open 24 hours and food is also available 24 hours free for all passengers. So I will say that we must come here at least once in our life.

Long queue but absolutely worth the wait. I loved it here, had a good spiritual experience. Generally temples are all commercialized in India but not this one, we weren't asked to pay even a single penny anywhere. And enjoyed the yummiest langar. Punjabis do have a big heart.

Beautiful experience in the holiest Sikh place. We visited at night (~9 pm) to witness the “putting to bed” ceremony and it was amazing . We also visited the kitchen and seeing the amount of people eating there was quite extraordinary. Keep in mind you need to take off your shoes and socks to enter the temple, but it is quite clean. If you enjoy this kind of place it is worth coming to Amritsar just to see this temple . The temple is very beautiful 😍

Smooth flow inside (entry into the main worship area does have a very long queue however) and stunning views. The temple has a beautiful philosophy of welcoming all and I encourage all to take it up.

It would be wrong to evaluate the place of this spiritual Guru because the Guru's house is the house of greatest peace and happiness and prosperity, there he is the house of peace and ending the restlessness of the mind. After going there, I felt that God was with me in such a way that I was not worried about any reason, I was just so engrossed in having darshan that I did not even realize that I had seen God with my own eyes.

Had a great time here after visiting beautiful golden temple ❤️ this place is good to hangout and explore some historic great stories. And the place has been restored but I don't think it should have been restored because the real historic look gives some straight sight of reality. Some historic places should not be restored. But whatever done is okay. Good to visit.

Best place for young kids to known about the a historic place. All the bullet markings and the well remind you of the unfortunate incident that took place there. The place is obviously a very important one if we talk about our history. The complex is quite huge in terms of its area. There are 3-4 one storey cottages type buildings which are used as a museum. There are few places which are preserved very well and still reminds of that era. The place was beautiful decorated with plants n gardening. Entry is free for everyone.

Beautiful memorial park to visit. Don't need tickets to visit the place. It's situated in front of golden temple. One can also see those bullet marks on the wall. Can read those heartbreaking story of that black day and can have a glimpse of the hard path of our ancestors had to go through for a free India. It is nearby to Golden temple, so whenever you go to visit the Golden Temple you may go before an hour to visit Jalianwala Bagh.

Excellent way to pay a tribute to the martyrs. The shows projected at each of the galleries gave a clear account of the happenings in the Bagh. The light show started at 7 p.m. as we visited during summer and lasted for around 30 minutes. During winter the timing for the light show varies. It is a very noble service and the security guards are very polite and agile. Respect and admire the way the Bagh has been maintained. One suggestion- They should keep a minimal entry fee as it is one of the tourist attractions with no offense intended to the authorities.

Mixed feelings about the place. The history is sad, but the place has been done up nicely as a memorial. However, it has become a tourist place and feel that we do not deserve the freedom and sacrifice. Unruly and noisy crowd that is interested only clicking pictures and does not go with the spirit of the memorial.

This historical place ,we all are aware of ..it would be nicer ,if there is a sacred place or a temple where people can offer their prayers to the deceased souls, to offer respect to them. You can get to see the bullet marks on the walls and the well which has historical significance. There is no entrance fee to visit this garden. When you enter this place you will smell the history and those freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives.

Must visit to experience the history and pay homage to all the martyrs. The authorities recreated the visual experience through many exhibits and videos and pictures of the freedom struggle can be seen by visitors. The park inside is well maintained and key area of the place well marked etc.

There is a lot of sentimental value attached to this historical place but most forget that they are inside a memorial where mass murder took place, I found most busy taking selfies making reels with pouts and various funny poses. Taking pictures is not a crime but being respectful to the attached sentiments is very important. One other problem with the place is that except the well, everything appeared to have been altered to give a face uplift. Had it been maintained in its original state it would have given goosebumps to all those who visit.

I’m visiting this place after 10 years and what a transformation! The place is beautifully redone in a way that reminds everyone of the grave history. There are multiple galleries that tell multiple stories, there are places just to sit and reflect; everything for free. There is no entrance fees and yet the place is maintained so well. Just walking around, reading gives goosebumps. I would highly recommend visiting this place if you’re touring in Amritsar.

If you are in Amritsar, this is a must visit place. Everyone knows about the history this place holds, but to be there can give you goosebumps. But to be very Frank, mostly it feels like a normal park. It should have been maintained the way it was. There are some nice things to witness like the well and the walls with bullet marks. The museum is also decent. But the overall wibe is missing. I am giving 5 stars because of the rich history of the place, otherwise I would have given 3.

Very quiet ambience. Cool place, the very thought of the place is not so cool. We feel the cheeks of thousands still if we think and feel the place. The well thousands jump and die, and the whole place arouses our patriotism to its peek. Very well kept, and the silence suits the purpose.

The Dharamshala was good, but something I didn't like was the Khatmal on the beds, I couldn't sleep the whole night and had to change the room the next day. My visit was pretty good besides the room issue. There is a restaurant near Dharmashala and a sweet shop as well. The restaurant is just a few steps away from the Dharamshala and its Chhole Bhature prepared from Desi Ghee. The taste and everything is undefined. The purity, my experience was the best about the food and other shops. It's worth the time and money. It is affordable, no offence. I recommend the Rasmalai and chhole bhature! Whenever you go to Amritsar or visit The Golden Temple, make sure you grab a bite of these. May Guru Nanak Ji Bless You!

Durgiana Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Amritsar, in an Indian state called Punjab. This temple was built in the honour of Goddess Durga, hence the name Durgiana Temple. You can also find the idols of Lord Vishnu, who is known as the protector of the world and Goddess Lakshmi who is known as the goddess of wealth in this temple. The architecture style of the Durgiana Temple is similar to the style of the Golden Temple which is a Gurudwara located in the same city. Both temples hold an equal amount of importance in the city in terms of worship. The Durgiana Temple is also known as Sitla Mandir, Lakshmi Narayan Temple and Durga Tirath temple amongst the locals in Punjab. According to Hindu mythology, many incidences took place in this temple wherein one incidence Lava and Kusha (Children of Lord Rama) tied Lord Hanuman to a tree in the temple as a challenge. And in another incidence, it is said that the grandson of Lord Surya, Iksvaku, had performed a number of yagyas in the same area. Therefore, according to Hindu Mythology, the land of Durgiana Temple is considered as a holy land. Since the Durgiana Temple is built in the middle of the sacred lake, it is said that the temple holds holy power which helps people with their problems. Since there are many temples located in the city of Amritsar, it is the best city to be in the list of your pilgrimage tours. It is a brilliantly built temple.

The Akal Takht ("Throne of the Timeless One") is one of five takhts (seats of power) of the Sikhs. It is located in the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) complex in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Akal Takht (originally called Akal Bunga) was built by Shri Guru Hargobind Ji as a place of justice and consideration of temporal issues; the highest seat of earthly authority of the Khalsa (the collective body of the Sikhs) and the place of the Jathedar, the highest spokesman of the Sikhs. Originally known as Akal Bunga, the building directly opposite the Harmandir Sahib was founded by sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind, as a symbol of political sovereignty and where spiritual and temporal concerns of the Sikh people could be addressed. Along with Baba Buddha and Bhai Gurdas, the sixth Sikh Guru built a 9-foot-high concrete slab. When Guru Hargobind revealed the platform on 15 June 1606, he put on two swords: one indicated his spiritual authority (piri) and the other, his temporal authority (miri). The Akal Takht was built on a site where there existed only a high mound of earth across a wide-open space. It was a place where Guru Hargobind played as a child. The original Takht was a simple platform, 3.5 metres (10ft) high, on which Guru Hargobind would sit in court to receive petitions and administer justice. He was surrounded by insignia of royalty such as the parasol and the flywhisk. Later, there was an open-air semi-circular structure built on marble pillars and a gilded interior section. There were also painted wall panels depicting Europeans. The modern building is a five-story structure with marble inlay and a gold-leafed dome. Three of the stories were added by Ranjit Singh in the 1700s.

This is the most important place and supreme takhat in just the gurudwaras but entire sikh panth. Just to make it clear, although the Akal takhat is located at the side of sarovar, it still has even more importance then Harmandar sahib (a.k.a golden temple). So don't miss visiting here when you find to Amritsar

Akal Takht serves as one of the five seats of Sikh religious authority. Akal which means the ‘Timeless One’ while Takht means ‘the throne’. Translated, Akal Takht means the ‘Throne of the Immortal’. It is also the central altar for the Sikh political assembly. Shri Guru Hargobind Singh laid the foundation stone of the Akal Takht building in 1605. The building faces the Darshini Deorhi, which leads to the Golden Temple. Originally the Akal Takht was just 3.5 metres higher from the ground. Today, it’s a 5 storey building with gold leafed dome.

When Guru Hargobind revealed the platform on 15 June 1606, he put on two swords: one indicated his spiritual authority (piri) and the other, his temporal authority (miri). According to Kanwarjit Singh Kang, the platform raised by Guru Hargobind was built in 1609, a later dating. The first-ever structure erected on the premises was an open brick platform consecrated by Guru Hargobind. Later, a hall would be erected at the site. In the 18th century, Ahmed Shah Abdali and Massa Rangar led a series of attacks on the Akal Takht and Harmandir Sahib. Takht which is on the first floor was rebuilt in brick in 1774, under Sultan-ul-Qaum Jassa Singh Ahluwalia (1718–1783) – the leader of the Sikh Confederacy in Punjab. The renovations during the 18th century gave the building a "better shape". An Udasi mahant by the name of Pritam Das (founder of Akhara Sangalwara, also located nearby) was responsible for originally installing the dual Nishan Sahibs at the Akal Takht. Hari Singh Nalwa, a general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, decorated the Akal Takht with gold and is responsible for adding the golden dome at the top of the edifice. Maharaja Ranjit Singh's revamping of the building in the first half of the 19th century raised the number of stories of the structure to five. The murals that had existed in the original building had been painted around the mid-19th century. There were murals decorating the walls of the first and second stories.

It stood as a symbol of political bulwark against the MughalEmperors in the 17th and 18th century. Various attacks on the Akal Takhat and Harimandir Sahib have been led in past by Ahmed Shah Abdali and Massa Rangar in the 18 century. On June 4, 1984, the Indian Army did more than just damage the outer facade of the Akal Takhat, they destroyed the sancitity of the Akal Takht with tanks and reduced it to rubble, while attempting to take out Sikh militants in a controversial military operation known as Operation Bluestar. It is the most supreme of all the Takhats. There are four other takhatsestablished by the panth (community) during the last century: Keshgarh Sahib (Anandpur) Patna Sahib Hazur Sahib Damdama Sahib Often, Amritsar is considered a takht. The Jathedar of the Akal Takhat is the highest spokesperson of the Sikh Panth and is meant to be a spiritual leader without control or influence from any outside, politically motivated sources. The present jathedar is Bhai Joginder Singh Vedanti.

I hv been to three Gurudwara so far Namely Golden temple in Amritsar, Takht Shri saheb in Patna and Shree Bangla Sahab in Delhi. I must say that all three visits created so much of respect for Sikhs. The amazing peacefulness, devotion and true spirit to serve in the of God just touched my heart. No hassles, no haggling, no politics, every person gets a fair chance to spent time ther. Golden temple was the first of the gurudwaras and I would want to visit there again and again.

It is situated at distance of 3km from bus stand of amritsar. Take Handkerchief or anything to cover your head inside temple. Everyone has to cover head when they go for WaaheGuru darshan. Akal takht is located in between Pond. Saturday and Sunday is most busiest day here. Too much crowd on Saturday and Sunday. Everyone is helpful there. 24hrs Hours community Kitchen is there where you can eat food and have tea free of cost,this is called Langer in local language. Luggage room and shoe rack is there to keep your belongings over there. You can book room also there . They provide room at golden temple campus at very affordable price for more than 1 members.for single person you will not get room but they provide mattress and hall with lockers and fan you can rest over there. Overall you will find this place full of energy , full of devotion .

This fort is nicely maintained. Ticket cost is bit higher side as if you are going to watch 7D show here then it will cost Rs. 200 per person. Show is a splendid experience. I liked it very much. Also, watchout for the well maintained fort here.

I don't like it at all. I don't get why people have rated this so high. Overpriced place. More beautiful forts and places can be visited for free. This is taking 50 rupees just to enter the place. That also with arguments with the ticket counter girl. They were saying that only 300 rupees ticket is there and you've to buy the show and games ticket. Not worth at all. Very average activities and games and shows are there. I won't recommend anyone to waste their money.

The place is good but not verses the price. It's overpriced. With the ticket of 450, you can watch 7D and a very short camel ride. They don't charge for kids below 5 years, but inside, nothing is free for the kid. Even camel rides are not free for kids they will charge Rs.50 for the same. If you go for 7D, they will not offer the 3D glass to wear. You have to fight for it. 7D show was good.. one can enjoy a nice evening there.. 2 Seater Cycle Ride is free, but they should have multiple cycles.. otherwise, you end up with a round or so.. VR game was very good we all enjoyed it.. Rs. 50 is the charge for the polo cart, which takes you from the ticket counter to the fort. If you can walk, then it's actually no need. The main area is not that far.. Overall, good..

A nice place to spend the evening, but be prepared to walk a lot since this place is very huge. You'll get a feel of how the life eas back then and how the king's have lived and ruled. There lot of eateries within the fort so no need to worry about food. It's a heritage place very well maintained l, we couldn't catch the light show but we witnessed the 7D show and it's a must experience. The show is charged 200 per head and tells about how the king became the king he is remembered for. At the end there is a cartoon 7D show which you can choose to skip but the kids will enjoy this. Overall a nice place to visit in Amritsar. Give it a try.

It is a nice place with good ambience and nicely organised campus arraying good display of history,culture and state of the craft shows accompanied with live presentations. Laser show Presentation during the visit marred with bad audio due to earthing because of heavy rains 🌧 preceding day, show was charged 300 rs per head, for 40 min more than a regular movie ticket. No staffer is presnt to guide or to look after during the show. Overall an okay experience.

One of the historically significant sites that has been well-preserved is Gobindgarh Fort. The cost of entry ranges from Rupees 300 to 400 per person, yet the experience is still worthwhile for everyone. The gorgeous greenery and 7D show deserve special mention.

Beautiful place. Has a rich heritage and history but more development is needed. The experience feels incomplete. Maybe the reason is that this was still under the Indian Army till 2018 and just recently had been developed as a tourist destination and then the COVID pandemic hit in 2020. Most of the places like the Taksal etc were closed and the places which were open did not have people in them. There was a cultural show in the evening but the stage was far from the place the audience was made to sit and there was not enough lighting so the people could not have a proper look at the shows. The laser light show was decent and worth seeing. But this place is historically very important and it deserves much more development.

Needs more activities and engagement for tourists. I went there with a ticket of 850 which included everything inside the fort. The light and sound show and 7D laser show are really good however you don't feel the energy there except these two. Buffet was included in my ticket and I would say better avoid it and you can save 150 rupees there only. Very average food and no options. I like the whole concept, to provide one-stop for tourists into Punjab's hostoysnd culture however I do feel it requires brushing up!

A beautiful place. You have to buy a ticket to enter the Fort. The ticket counter is near the parking area. You have a vehicle which can take you on a ride and cover all the places at an extra charge and a ticket has to be taken for that also. The place is maintained very well. Visit the place in the noon as its very hot in the day time.

Out of all forts I have visited in India, felt this place to have a very good balance of commercial activities to earn revenue and Also keeping the cultural heritage intact. Fort is very very clean, extremely well illuminated and kept in fantastic shape. Appreciate the management over this. Hoping to return again by end of year as the day I went , we could not enjoy the laser show as some concert was going on .

Excellent but Ticket price for general visitors should also be given at ₹50 for Entry. We visited but with Travel Agent so got at ₹50 or else they informed about ₹650 amount only.

A tourist place with traditional Bhangra dance, magic show and other activities. Turban Museum exhibits rich variety of Punjabi turbans. One should have sufficient time (2-3 hours) to see most of the things. The common entry fee is ₹ 50/- and needs to pay additional for weapon museum and 7D show.

The first we had seen the 7D movie of Ranjit Singh which was very interesting then the riding of camel and double riding cycle was very new experience which was amazing. Then the Bhangra dance which was very nice.

A decent visit in Amritsar. The fort is maintained well enough in spots. It is a mix of activities, restaurants and shops inside. You will need approximately 1-2 hours to explore at your own pace.

Great historic place, firstly I was thinking that the ticket is costly but after the experience, it is really worth it . The activities like horse riding/camel riding, games, 7d show and bicycle are included. You also experience live Bhangra here with it weapon showcase is also there.

We enjoyed our visit to fort. 450/- is the lowest entry ticket which includes fort entry, live performance of Bhangra and Gidda, laser show and some fun activities like couple bicycle, hoverboard ride, horse/camel ride, archery, basketball, dart etc.. If you pay 600/- then you get access to 7D show which is fun🤩 add another 150/- and you’ll get your unlimited maharaja thali meal included in the same. We took 750/- ticket per head and enjoyed the fort experience thoroughly. We entered around 6:30 and were done by 9-9:30/-pm. You might need assistance to ask what to do when, you can check the same with volunteers. 8pm is 7D show and 7:30 is laser show.

Pretty neat place to take the family for an outing.. Do remember to take the buffet voucher! Food was amazing! The 7D show is a bit of a hit and miss, good for a one time visit.. Located at the centre, around a kilometer away from Golden temple, this place is a treat for history lovers. The Partition museum is divided into many zones, depicting our story of Independence and partition. Tickets are to be taken, the price is less than 50rs. There's different fare for audiovisual guide available. As you enter, you get lost back in the Independence-partition era. They have meticulously described everything in detail, with pictures and goods kept. At some places There are headphones kept so that you can listen to the audio. Although many clips are in Punjabi. At some places There's presentation getting displayed continually, short ones of less than 60 seconds or so to tell about the stories. Partition was truly heartbreaking and has impacted many lives. Hearing to the stories and reading about them sends you in a very sad zone. And then the last section is about people coping up with the Partition and how they have overcome various difficulties. There's also a paid feedback tree in the last section. Lift available. It's a 2 storeyed museum, and very well maintained. Although there's less ventilation in some areas. Last section has some sitting area. Well maintained Washroom facility and drinking water facility available in the premises. There are also few restaurants in the premises and some shops to buy Historical items.

One must visit this museum whenever he comes to Amritsar, you will realize how much people have suffered during partition. The stories, documents and materials associated with partition are presented in an wonderful way. It is completely indoors and fully ac.

The partition museum is simply amazing and should not be missed on a trip to Amritsar. Make sure you keep atleast 3-4 hrs free to be able to experience the entire museum without rushing it. It's totally worth it. Some stories gave me goosebumps. Also note, the partition museum closes at 6 pm everyday and it is completely closed on Mondays. Also preferable avoid Sundays to avoid excess crowds.

It's a very nice place to be at. It talks about the history of India-Pakistan partition, refugees and all other related events. It'll easily consume 2-3 hours of your time depending upon the level of details you read. The ticket costs Rs. 10. It's not allowed to take pictures inside the museum.

10rs entry ticket and if you want to take guided tour then audio tape is available for 100rs. Photography isn’t allowed inside, but you can take a shot in one of the galleries where there’s a big portrait with all the leaders on a round table. It’ll easily take 2+ hours to go through all the galleries and understand everything in detail. Keep good time and strength to walk and read through all the info. Worth visiting. We visited on a weekday. There wasn’t heavy rush we easily got tickets and audio tapes. We spent almost 3hours here to understand everything in great detail. Do not miss visiting this museum😇

This is my favourite place at Amritsar as this place provides all the things to get knowledge and information about Partition. All visuals and hearing aids are available in record form . Students of young age must visit and learn about the 1947 One should learn from the mistakes made in history. Every country should prepare itself for a beautiful and secure future.

Bought the first ticket for the day as soon as the window opens A highly insightful experience. So much history and the modern perspective at the last leg of gallery is amazing. This was on my list for so long. Go there with time on your hand so can appreciate the experience

The Partition museum is a must visit when in Amritsar. Its close proximity to the Golden Temple makes it easier to visit. The entry is fee is hardly 10 rs, though photography is not allowed. The set up and layout of the exhibition is very thoughtful and some of the display such as vessels and the tents is truly special. The place truly takes you back in time!

Such a lovely place with a beautiful entrance. We went in the evening and it looked quite pleasant. We clicked so many pictures there. Although the museum closes at 630pm in the winters, we won't be able to go inside. But I love the vibe there.

The museum has a very detailed pictorial depiction of what all the events were taking place during the partition and what took place after the partition. Also, it has a nice collection of antiquities, that are very unique to watch. History of Punjab's partition has been explained in the most elegant manner Also, taking photos is prohibited but I couldn't help myself from taking a picture of this wall and how it is describing the cruelty all had to go through during that time.

It is a very well maintained museum and the quality of information at display is breathtaking. It was a dark time in Indian history and the photos, videos, news cuttings have depicted that to the fullest. The galleries are well organised and not crowded. Amazing museum ! Everyone Indian must visit it at least once. Beautifully curated museum, I recommend to take audio guide available with them for (approx. Rs. 100 + museum entry about Rs. 20 for Indians) No photographs are allowed inside the museum (except at one location which is specially meant for photography which will be explained by the audio guide device. There are multiple eateries in the museum complex which serves tasty food. If interested in India freedom history once can spend an entire day here. It was a great experience. souvenir shop at the museum is a little sad, not many memories available which people generally like to take home from here. the attendant at the shop was hardly interested in any customer and constantly busy over mobile phone. around the partition museum, there is Jallianwala Baugh, Golden Temple and local markets for cloths and other goods.

It's one of the best Museums I have ever been to. The museum is one of the must visit places when in Amritsar. It's close to the golden temple and is easily reachable by walking. There are washrooms available in the premises. The museum explains the conditions of the common man during the partition phase. There are many things from that phase for viewing like newspapers, clothes, letters etc. There are also audios and videos of the people sharing their experiences and the presentation of migration available. There is a lift available for senior citizens and specially abled people. The ventilation was not that good..there was AC available but they weren't switched on and the fans were also available at some places only. Clicking pictures is not allowed at all inside the museum. There is a Rs.10 entry fee also. Happy Traveling!!

This place is really good and worth visiting. You will get to know the story and the struggle behind the independence.. Each and every incident is explained very nicely. You need to be a calm reader and a listener. The videography and some structures created in the museum were heart taking. If you are a patriotic person then you will enjoy this place and definitely attain some knowledge from here.
