This was a much anticipated trip, I had seen many previous videos and pictures. There are many comments about the entry price being vastly different for International visitors, 375K IDR compared to domestic visitors who pay 50K. I can understand why the difference exists, but it seems rather steep to me. The biggest disappointment for me was that you are no longer allowed to enter the temple. The access points are now sealed off. Again I can understand why, but for myself, it did take some of the pleasure away. The famous bell towers can only really be seen from a distance and in my opinion can't be appreciated in the same way. The site possesses the longest exit route I have ever experienced! You walk though a labyrinth of alleys lined with literally hundreds of gift stalls. As previously mentioned, I can totally understand why this is so. All that said; it is a world heritage site and well worth a visit. The perimeter is open and you can walk around all 4 sides of this vast and impressive temple. As I walked away from the area, I had mixed feelings: I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed by the 3 aforementioned aspects but thoroughly impressed by the wonderful architecture.

The sheer scale and spiritual significance of Candi Borobudur make it a must-see destination. It's a place that will leave you in awe and offer a profound connection to history and spirituality.

A majestic temple complex. Opening time 8.30 for the groups (with guide). No sunrise tours at 4 /5/6 am anymore. Purchased tickets online a week in advance. A tour with guide last 1 hour plus (inside the temple, climbed all the way up). Only about 1200 tourists allowed daily. Lots of souvenirs shops around, cafes etc.

Requiring a guide limited the experience for me. Requiring unsafe sandals that allowed my feet to get sun burned was a drawback to the experience. Recommend taking socks that you can wear with the required sandals that you have to buy with the tickets. We chose not to pay extra for a guide that could speak English. We thought we could explore at our own pace, but we had to stay with our guide. It was really hot at 10:00 a.m. and the guide had us standing in the sun multiple times getting baked. Our group had 15 people, which was too many for one group. It would probably be worth it to find a way to pay extra for a smaller group of your own party to go at your own pace. You definitely should walk up the steps to the top.

Borobudur temple is a cultural heritage site which is currently protect and under supervise by UNESCO and INDONESIA Government. In 2024, visitors are limited to 1200 peeple per day.. and we can only reach level 9, because level 10 only used for worship. Recommended place to visit with your Family.

Truly a magnificent landmark. Not only value its historical moment, also spiritual too. The last time I visited, it was sprinkling (not raining) and I strongly felt it was a blessing from the Buddhas to keep myself a little bit dry. The written wall of the temple is still safely kept until now, which is serving its important messages to us. However, after you done strolling around the temple, please do not forget to visit the cafe. The service is very friendly and the prices aren’t expensive at all.

The temple itself is very nice, and it worth a visit if you’re in the area of course, given its cultural significance as the largest Buddhist monument on earth. I will say the price was quite steep however for what you receive. It was approx 500000 per person if you want to walk through the temple grounds, and this entitles you to go onto the temple but only with a guide, and you only have one hour. Because of this, a lot of the panelling work and areas are missed off the tour, and they seem to drag you only to where people will want to have photos of themselves taken. I’d have preferred to not have a guide at all had I known what I was paying for was a time limited tour of one corridor and the roof area, but unfortunately you are not allowed to access the temple without the guide.

We loved visiting here. The guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable and funny. The flip flops you have to wear (included in ticket price and bag) we good and a lovely keep sake. The worst part was trying to get out of the temple complex with 300meter plus of souvenir shops.

Beautiful temple, but nowhere near as large & impressive as is made out. Tickets are expensive- for foreign tourists at least. Visit on weekdays & not dawn and you will avoid the crowds. On exiting the complex, try to avoid the maze of trinket stalls that go on for ever.

It's a must visit place in Yogyakarta. Its one of the famous Buddhist monuments in the world, built between 8th and 9th Century. The best way to visit the temple is to take a guided tour. A limited number of tourists are allowed to enter inside the temple at a time. Without prior booking It's difficult to get a slot. More than half day is required to visit this temple. Enjoyed my visit to this place.

Amazing and magical place. We did a group tour with Sunrise, so we arrived to the Temple very early, we were the first one entered to the temple's first ground. We took a big walk around the temple and in the area. Around 9am they took us up to the temple. There is maximum 150 person/hour, and we were divided up to smaller group with a local guide, what made the whole experience even better

The temple itself is lovely and the gardens are beautiful, however the ticket price is outrageous. It’s not worth the money. I don’t understand why foreigners pay more, it’s a little unfair. I wonder if the people in here that gave good reviews paid cheaper price. If the price were reasonable I would give a better review as the temple itself is nice.

Came to this place before the Covid Pandemic hit. This place is wonderful and the vibe is relaxing. Access to the location is easy. The last time I visited here, the view at the top of the temple was amazing and crowded with tourists. If you want to visit here, please pay attention to the signs in several locations to help keep the temple well maintained.

Very beautiful. Although the two separate entry points aren’t being made clear to tourists. There is the general admission where you can explore the grounds, including AROUND the temple, then there’s the separate admission (with a schedule on a first come first serve basis) where you can walk ON the steps of the temple and whatnot. However, I love the museum. It has a lot of great displays with the descriptions available both in Indonesian and English.

Incredibly impressive. Our guide was knowledgeable but knew that most of the group wanted to get to the top and get our pictures. Absolutely the best thing we have done in Java. Only 150 people are allowed up at the time which is good. We had a tour take us there, and we did get a better history of the temple and it's significance on Java culture before we went.

Loved this place. Foreigners have to pay a lot more than locals. But they use the extra money for restoration and maintenance. They only allow 150 per hour into the temple and you have to have a guide. Got a ticket and only had to wait about 30-45 minutes for the next tour group. They give you special sandals to protect the temple and then you get them as a souvenir. We had an amazing guide that is very knowledgeable about the temple and it history. The tour lasted about 40 minutes and we still had 20 minutes left for our tour. So we were able to walk around, relax and check out the temple at our own pace. Took an overpriced shuttle from Yogyakarta then shared a taxi coming back.

My 3rd times here. This time visited with the kids. Will be a memorable time and such a great opportunity to see and learn one of world’s seven wonders. The area was very clean with some updated facilities like electric bus, golf cart to touring around temple area. The toilet was also clean. Hopefully get better with more attractions and facilities in the future.

Who doesn't know Borobudur Temple, its fame is very well known throughout the world. Want to share experiences when visiting here. Before you come, it's best to buy tickets online so you don't have to queue for a long time. My advice is to buy a ticket with a package entry to the temple, it's more expensive than one with access to the grounds, but it's more satisfying if you buy a package to go up to the temple because we get a guide and are also given special sandals. to go up to the top of the temple If you want to come here, don't forget to bring an umbrella, hat, drinking water and don't forget to use sunblock because it's really hot up there. Lastly, if you want to buy souvenirs, after coming down from the temple, buy souvenirs in the area near the exit because it is cheaper. That's all the review, basically this Borobudur temple is really recommended to visit.

Borobudur temple is super great! I feel honored I have the opportunity to come back here and climb to (almost) the top. I’ve been here when I was little but it felt different. Now it is more organized (yes they charged a more expensive ticket) and clean. You get the upanat sandals (included in ticket price). And there’s a tour guide lead your group and told you the history. Don’t forget to buy tickets in advance through the official website. The negative thing is the exit is way too complicated, you need to go through hundreds of local stalls with sellers forcing you to buy souvenirs. Not a fun experience at all.

Standing firmly as one of the 7 Wonders of the World, Borobudur was constructed between about 778 and 850 CE, under the Shailendra dynasty (UNESCO). Built as a Buddhist temple in Center Java Island, Indonesia at that period of time, nowadays, it's the only ancient Buddhist temple in the land of Islamic Indonesia. I was thrilled to witness this magnificent antique structures and walk on her as one of the true Buddhist devotee (I walked 3 rounds clockwise on the top 2nd platform with clear mind - believe it can bring my wishes come true). It is hot, so make sure you have sunscreen and a head cover. I spent 3 days exploring the temple while staying in Manohara Resort in Borobudur Temple compound! We got the entrance ticket included in our stay with Manohara Resort, that also includes a special foot wear to walk within Borobudur site (as shown in the photo). 3 different exploration days (1st. Day overture to get the overall story, fun and fact about the temple; 2nd. Day I brought in a lot more details on the cravings and the Buddha status in the temple; 3rd. Day rainy afternoon with a complete different look on Borobudur completion, fresh and colorful in my eyes). 3 different perspectives and feelings that Borobudur Temple give! Make the way to this magnificent site!

Everything is good and neatly arranged, only after we have finished admiring it, when we get to the exit, we have to go through a maze of selling stalls (and these stalls should also be attractively designed) which is quite tiring. Maybe there should also be some kind of cafe and/or restaurant that is nice and clean so that visitors can hang out there.

So so experience. The candi itself was impressive. Being such an impressive historical monument, this candi is a tourist magnet for locals and foreigners alike. It’s like a must for tourists to visit. The management of this candi knows it very well thus even with a very steep price to visit inside the candi (not only on the court yard or “pelataran” in indonesia word, many foreigners are “willing” to pay such an exorbitant price. With this such a high price, foreigners tourist have a high expectations about the whole experience but sadly this was not met. We visited candi borobudur on 31 mar 2024 and entry time was 10.30 am and we got a group nb 20. There were 25 people in the group-many more than the max of 15 people. The tour guide was not sympathetic at all and his knowledge about borobudur was below expectation. The storytelling skill was not good enough to be a guide in such an impressive candi. Apart from the subpar tour guide, we were given only 1 hour to visit the temple, it’s not enough at all. At the min the management of candi needs to give tourists at least 2 hours as we wanna to see and admire more details on the relics and stupa. Everything was a rush. The tour guide rushed us to move from one point to another point and to exit the temple (the tour guide needs to make sure that all his groups to be scanned in exit gate). This one hour experience inside the temple was not what we expected. It took 1.5 hours from Yogja to the temple, queue in getting our ticket scanned, queue to have our tour start and we were about to admire the history and the beauty of the candi, times up, let alone to take some photos. The bottom line it’s a disappointing experience. Hopefully the borobudur management team will listen and make improvements. Ps: compare with prambanan temple, we preferred prambanan experience. More genuine and original experience.

Very beautiful architecture. Ticket is very expensive for foreigner. Need to wear the sandals as you can bring back as a souvenir. There will be sellers selling umbrellas, buy from them if the weather is too hot or rain because there is no shelter.

The 50k entry ticket is not too expensive compared to the extra care to preserve the preservation of this historic place even though I entered at a ticket price of 25k (students understand). The older this place the more beautiful. Prambanan is very well maintained, and extraordinary care. Extraordinary set of Hindu temples in the Prambanan Valley, rising out of the plain like mountain peaks. Especially noteworthy are the main Shiva Temple and the Vishnu Temple, with their intricate carvings and powerful statues in the inner sanctums. Well worth the hassle involved in getting there: a mile-long walk from the bus terminal, large crowds in the ticketing area (foreigners must purchase tickets in a different area -- more expensive, but literally no waiting), and the ubiquitous touts (though it is nowhere near as obnoxious here as in Borodubur).

The temple itself is an amazing glimpse into the past of Indonesia and is one of those sites that makes you wonder how its construction was completed given the time it was built in. The surrounding facilities include a lot of fun activities for kids, restaurants, shops, etc, and there are a number of well organized options for transportation around the complex and to other nearby temples. Overall, I enjoyed the Prambanan experience more than Borobudur, but you can't go wrong at either place if ancient temples are your thing.

You might not be actually interested in this Hindu temples but you're just going to visit here because your tour package includes this site together with the Borobudur, or just because it's one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Don't worry. Me too. There are black and ashy spires and tons of rubbles in the perimeter surrounded by nature. Lots of Hindu gods reliefs are etched on the stones, and some statues are enshrined in the cave. Sounds attractive? Considering it is built in the 9th century it's amazing. But to be honest, it's no exciting. A lackluster type of historic site. If I'm well-versed in its historic backgrounds and Hinduism itself, viewpoint changes?

Candi Prambanan is an absolute marvel. This ancient Hindu temple complex took my breath away with its intricate stone carvings and towering spires. But what made my visit even more special was the Prambanan Jazz Festival 2023 happening simultaneously. The fusion of music and the temple's majestic backdrop was simply enchanting. The organizers did a fantastic job, and the atmosphere was magical. Overall even without any event happening this place is still a masterpiece and a must visit when you visit Yogyakarta.

I LOVE the Prambanan temple. I personally think it’s better than the Borobudur temple by a long shot. The temples are stunning and you can enter them! How lovely. The grounds are quite massive and they have a shuttle bus to transport between some sites, but the schedule isn’t clear nor reliable. There is a museum, but there are no English translations available. I do feel the $60 USD entry fee could’ve been better delegated to address these things. However, it’s still worth every penny!

This temple should not be miss when you visit Yogyakarta. If you want to know the history, it's good to get a guide. If you just want to enjoy the area and see the details of the structure, it's okay to go explore alone. Sunset was very nice one should not miss!

This is an amazing 8th / 9th century Hindi collection of temples that must be visited. Prambanan Temple is just a part of the wider Hindi / Buddhist complex. The stone reliefs depict the Hindu pantheon, legends, and interestingly birds that are not native to the area, demonstrating broad trade networks during that time. It can be visited in an hour, but to appreciate the site, half a day is needed. But more amazing than the temple was the hospitality of the locals...especially the school kids...who found any excuse to take a picture with a foreigner and make our visit as enjoyable as it could be

Lovely temple complex in Central Java. Easy to get to by bus from Yogyakarta. Went in January and it is very very hot. Make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and water. The foreigner tickets are less than $400k and you get a bottle of water. Yes it’s pricey for Indonesia but I don’t mind since the funds go for all the needed restoration work. Also hired a guide for 120k because I have no idea about any Hindu history. You can buy a combo ticket for Borobudur here. You get a discount for getting the tickets for both places. You can only get the discounted tickets at Prambanan. I went the opposite route and went to Borobudur first and didn’t realize they had a special. Both places are worth the visit. It takes 3 years to restore one small temple, so it will take them about 600 years to finish it up. There are hundreds of smaller temples. The large ones are amazing. The detail of the carvings is crazy. I happened to be almost as popular as the temples with the kids. Didn’t bother me. I don’t mind making them happy with pictures. The complex grounds also contain 3 more temple areas that are Buddhist. Walked over to them and only saw a few other people. It was nice to get away from the crowds, though it wasn’t crowded, and have some alone time at these special spiritual places.

Wonderful Heritage. Lots of temples there. I would suggest people to get a local guide since they could explain the history and entire background of the whole place. They will definitely also increase your quality of visit. They know photo spots so that you will also have incredible pics with no to few people on the background with the main temple being seen fully. As a matter of fact, this site actually had around 240 temples though only 20 had been rebuilt by the government. The remaining is yet to be solved and built. One thing I can tell to you is that this place worth to be checked and seen. You will feel the ancient vibes and goosebumbs there.

As a foreign tourist, when you go to buy the entry tickets to these temples, be ready to get shocked. The entry ticket is exorbitantly priced, but believe me it is worth every penny you are paying. We were literally blown away by the beauty of these magnificent temples. Words are not enough to describe it. No matter how long you see and appreciate this beauty, you can never have enough of it. You should not miss it at all when in Yogyakarta. Watching sunset at these temples is the literally WOW..!! Check the pics. One smart tip: Buy the combined entry ticket for Prambanan and Borobudur temples. Both are super expensive, but combined you get some discount on it.

Many ruins. Some intact and others fell apart since it's very old, over a thousand years. Beautifully sculptured animals and people. Good workmanship. It's located in Yogyakarta Special Region. A lot of visitors from other countries were there too. Good to take photos there. A lot of local guide who can speak many languages if you want to hire them and listen to the story of the temple. Ample parking areas.

Stop listening to the hardcore Angkor Watt fans, this place is also worth your time and money! Come early so you can avoid the heat and the crowds. Apart from this majestic temple you will also see 3 more all included in the same ticket, each with their own charm. You do not want to miss any of them!

23/Aug: Old historical temple for tourist attraction. Nice for photo shots. Many have yet to restore after been destroyed by the earthquake. This place nay not be as famous as Borobudur, but it's good to visit after all one have arrived in Jogja. Recommended to visit early to avoid the crowd and not hot. Temple surroundings is clear of trees, thus not much shade for visitors There is tour guide for hire but there was no price list, that's the downside. I did not hire one, so no story telling. Upon exit, one have to go through the maze of shops similar to Borobudur, but not as aggressive like Borobudur. Overall, it was a good visit.

Another beautiful temple in Indonesia. Prambanan is one of the most famous temple that recommended to be visited while in Yogyakarta. Beautiful, majestic and full of historical arts, makes Prambanan easy to the eyes. There're another temple in Prambanan temple area, but since it's way too hot on sunny afternoon, I refrained from visiting another temple. Beware that since Prambanan located in highlands, it can suddenly rain pour on monsoon season even on sunny afternoon. Bring your own hat since there's no shade to cover from direct sunlight. Still, it's one of my happy experiences to visit Prambanan temple.

The best place to visit in Yogyakarta One of my wishlist to visit Prambanan Temple. This place so gorgeous .. luxurious .. Even though the weather is very hot, I am very happy to be able to visit this place (thanks God for the opportunity🥹) For domestic tourist, you can buy the ticket via online (it’s only 50k). Don't forget to bring an umbrella and use sunscreen ☀️ You can also ask the tour guide to explain the history (and be your photographer)

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. I saw it in photos many times, but they don't match the real view at all. The real one is even more gorgeous and impressive. Actually, the place is a complex that comprises 4 temples (Prambanan itself and also Bubrah and Sewu you can see on the photos) and a beautiful park around them. Obviously, the temples couldn't be standing from the 9th century, so these were actually built again. But still, there are many original blocks on any level. Strongly recommended to visit, and it is absolutely worth its 25$.

An underrated but gorgeous place! It is only 30 mins away from central. Will recommend to spend 2-3 hours touring the ground. Remember to bring an umbrella, hat or shades! I bought the tickets online for a fuss-free entry. There’s local tour guide available at 150k per hour. The temples are within walking distance but there are golf carts, bicycles, etc available for hire/rent.

Temple’s are amazing to see but animal cruelty on site is completely unacceptable. After doing a circuit of the complex we came across an area with deer, cassowaries and peacocks which was really upsetting to see. Definitely concerns around animal welfare here with what looked like injured deer in dirty conditions, birds in tiny cages and all had little to no shade. People come here to see the UNESCO site, this treatment of animals is completely unnecessary, besides the point that there is actually plenty of space on site to give these animals a decent standard of living if it is insisted they remain there. Regarding the temples themselves, yes it is more expensive for foreigners to enter but be reminded that this is a UNESCO site and consider what you would pay if this was anywhere else in the world. There are 4 sites on this complex, the first is the biggest and main attraction for most, and whilst it is impressive we actually preferred the last as no-one else seems to bother going there so we pretty much had the site to ourselves. It is the least restored of the 4 but this didn’t bother us as it is a reminder of the history and also how impressive the restorations actually are. Overall we enjoyed our visit but the situation with the animals needs to change and also be aware that if there are groups of school children around the main site, as a foreigner you will likely be approached so they can ask you questions whilst being filmed for their school project. We got the local bus here rather than paying for tour etc which was easy enough with the direction of our homestay and much cheaper.

Wonderful spot for a sunset shot. The place is still in the process of restorations during my visit, please spend time to look at the carvings on the stones and have a guide to explain their significance.

Prambanan is a 9th-century Hindu temple compound. It is really breathtaking and attractive. The entry price is high for foreigners, but you should definitely see it! You should visit ALL the 4 temples if you go there (most tourists skip the smaller temples). You can rent a tandem bike for 20k and go around the complex! Be prepared with hats and umbrellas if you visit between 11am-15pm

Such a beautiful and amazing place! You can take pictures freely here even tho there are some places that are closed. There is also a rental of traditional clothes so that your photos look more special 🤩🤩

Looks beautiful from the outside. Nothing much to see inside. Mostly are empty rooms. There was performance when we came to visit. Not spooky at all. In fact, it was quite the opposite. It's basically a historical trip back in time to the colonial era from a train enthusiast perspective. If you want to gain the most experience possible, please do hire a guide there.

I think all tour guides should respect visitor who do strolling around by themselves. I know some visitors paid them to guide, tell in details and take some photos but sometimes the tour guide case out other visitors who are taking photos. Its such a shame, historical landmark but has tour guide minim appreciate other visitors. Despite of all, i love this place because its authenthic building

Perfect place to stroll around and enjoy the vintage cultural and architectural heritage of Semarang. Famously known as to having less than 1000 doors, built during the Dutch colonialism era. Infamously known for its haunting and mystic vibes, due to its rich history and cultural background.

It's a popular historical building. Beautiful Dutch Colonial building with rich of history. Unfortunately there was no parking lot, so it's better to use a public transport or chartered car/bus. 2nd floor can not be accessed IDK why.

It looks better, than the first time I came here couple years ago. There's UMKM that's sell food and drink. Poorly we couldn't go the second floor building (front part). I wish I couldn't see people standing on the grass.

A very beautiful old colonial building. It's worth a visit. I enjoy the atmosphere here. Quiet and serene even some tourists could be a little bit noisy. The ticket price is IDR 20K for local tourists and 30K for foreigners (November 2023).

An astonishing historical site. This building complex was established in 1907 as the head office of the Dutch railway company. It has hundreds of doors, almost a thousand, that's why people call it "lawang sewu", which means thousand doors. This place is well maintained, despite of its old age. You can find many interesting spots to take pictures there.

The Catholic Dutch architecture buildings with hundreds of doors (which were rounded to thousand = Sewu/Seribu) are obviously the main attraction to this place and it's quite well-preserved by the local govt. They had quite lots of infographics to read from to know more about Lawang Sewu and had many photographs and paintings from old times to view. You could unironically get a bit lost while exploring, or at least that's what happened to me. There are too many doors to step into and go out from. Not every story/floor is open for visitors, though. If you're looking for a classic recreational site to visit with family, friends or loved one, this is such a good place. There are a lot of food stalls, coffee place, clothing store and even live music and CFC restaurant to spend time in. Restrooms were under a fixing process when I visited so it wasn't quite nice. They have a Musholla for muslims to pray as well in case they need it.

Come here at night.. Just like other old buildings, it has unique architecture.. Oh, the name itself implies about thousands of doors but I don’t know if it’s actually one thousand door in here.. Pssst, if you love train then come visit this place, you’ll see a building full of history about it..

If you haven't then you should visit this place. Good to see the history of trains in Indonesia and this historic building with literally so many doors hence the name lawang sewu (in Javanese) which translates to 1,000 doors.

A historical building built by Dutch Government, the famous tourist attraction in City Center of Semarang, you can walk around the to see the architecture, the history behind it, photo spot and so on, I recommend you to come here when you are in Semarang 👍👍

A very pretty building but mostly empty rooms. Some of them are now filled with a few gift shops where i did buy the best souvenir of my holiday (see pictures), the jute man/woman.

This is our second visit! Unfortunately the ticketing system has changed.we paid 40.000 for two, to find out that’s just an entry to the front only not close up to the actual temple. We still have to pay again to enter the temple. This is not fair seem no one say about anything at the entrance. If they explain up front, we would have choices and we are ok to pay at full price for whole visit. Being honest upfront is best policy, especially when it come to visit a tourism spot

Very interesting and cultural place. If you want to visit I suggest you bring sunglasses or an umbrella, as it can get really hot. There are some great spots for photos if you are a traveler. The entrance ticket is also very affordable, but if you want to pray, you have to buy a prayer ticket and you can walk around taking pictures. If you only buy a tourist ticket, you are not allowed to enter the prayer area. The best option is to buy a prayer ticket when you enter the Sam Poo Kong area. If you like architectural photography, this place is a must visit!

Undoubtedly beautiful in architecture. Feels like in China! Love every detail here. Been here several times since I was a kid, this place still takes my breath away! The lantern, however, is more festive during Chinese new year.

A famous temple in Semarang. The temple is spacious. Aside from the prayers section, people can go around the temple as well since there are lots of picturesque spots. Other than that, there are lots of food stalls and souvenir shops inside. I went there at ~3PM and unfortunately, the food stalls are closed. If you want to pray there, many friendly staffs are ready to guide you, so you do not have to worry.

Icon of Semarang city, full of cultural heritage buildings and monuments. The parking lot is quite spacy. The officers are friendly and welcome. We can sit on the gazebo and hearing bell ringing softly by the wind. So relaxing. It is quite hot due to limited big trees on the field though.

It would’ve been a 5/5 star if only it’s a lot cleaner. Everything else tick the boxes for me; amazing history, well preserved structures, but the cleanliness surely is something that needs to be improved. But love the experience regardless.

Things that you can put in to your bucket list when you’re in Atlas City, one of the top notch destination located in the heart of the city, pretty easy & affordable to get in. It also has a giant parking space so you don’t need to worry to park your vhcl.

The place is great! The entrance fee was 25000 per person. When you wanna explore the temple inside, you have to pay 20,000 more. There’s a different rate for foreigners. It’s a good thing I look Indonesian and can speak very little Bahasa. I paid the local price. 😁

Watched a concert yesterday The temple is really cool. Every corner seems perfect for taking photos. There are some areas specifically reserved for worship, so we can't just enter freely. Some locations can be viewed by removing your shoes. There's also a service for taking photos in Chinese royal costumes

the details of the buildings are very thick with Javanese characteristics, such as the Aceh mosque and those in Mecca, came here while the umbrella was still closed, but its still beautiful

There is a mosque in Semarang that is as big as the one in Jakarta. Many people come to look, take pictures, and pay homage. I didn't go inside the mosque, but took pictures and looked around the building. There was also an observatory tower there.

Wonderful mosque architecture in the capital city of Central Java, Semarang. Finally got the chance to visit and perform subuh pray before going to Solo. Many jamaah visited the mosque even before Subuh Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the toilet and wudhu spot should be improved a lot. It was really uncomfortable see rubbish everywhere. The floor was slippery so it can be dangerous for people to walk here to have wudhu There was no cleaning officer there, plus the visitor has no awareness to keep the place clean It was very disappointing

Great place to take photograph especially at dawn. You can also try their tower to take aerial photos of semarang, only Idr 10rb/pax.

Masjid is very big and beautiful with giant umbrellas similar with Masjid Nabawi.

The mosque is breathtaking. The architecture is also beautiful. It has its own style. Also this mosque is HUGE! When you come here I advise you to go to the information centre first. I went here to pray by myself and got lost (but the view is great anyway so it's fine). But it is very hot if you come here to enjoy the view in the middle of the day.

This mosque have an old giant or big Qur'an in hall of mosque, the architecture like Medina mosque but in little version and astonishing mosque complex, in this front of mosque plaza they have very big Bedhug and they have tourist attraction in top of mosque tower we can see semarang city around here, in parking lot area they have many food stalls selling many original hand gifts from semarang city, i take a photo shot this mosque in rainy day, editing it, and voila this photo very amazing.

A visit to Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah on 7/Mar/2020. The most unforgettable features of this mosque to me are its outdoor arch and the purple color used, maybe the number of mosque I have seen is not large, I guess purple color is rarely used. After I arrived at the mosque for a while, I heard Adzan from the minaret, it was resonant, I was deeply attracted to stay there to listen to. I even record the voice, when google map supports to upload a video, I will update. There are 4 pillars looking like umbrellas, the function of them are used as shelters for prayers in rainy days. The inner side of the mosque is luxuriant, visitors (prayers and non-prayers) are free to come in, I lingered in the mosque for more than 1 hour.

The umbrellas were closed even though the day was super bright - cost saving, understood. But the toilet and the place for taking ablution was lacking of fresh air and was wet wet wet.. inside the mosque, as most of mosques I have ever been to in this country, children were running here and there, women talk-siding loudly sometimes giggling, and of course some were taking nap..

This place is amazing for learning about batik, its history and philosophy and how it has adapted to reflect a changing Indonesia. It is an art form, and this is a museum full of so many wonderful pieces of art. The guide we had was incredibly knowledgeable and really expanded my understanding of batik.

Wonderful tourist spot that goes through the history of batik in Indonesia and has the largest batik fabric collection in the world. The tour guides speak fluent English - must see spot for international visitors to Solo.

Great tour of batik collection. The collection is displayed behind the shop, you buy an entrance ticket which is actually a guided tour. The guide in English is really informative, any questions would be answered. One star minus because you can’t go back after finishing the tour. You can’t see all the details.

It is a good private museum. There are a lot of batik fabrics and you come not only for seeing the batik, but also learn a lot about batik. Since it is a private museum, you won't be allowed to take any pictures.

The best batik museum in the town, we can buy some batik at the shop and see danar hadi's collection in the museum. Just pay with 35000 rupiah for the ticket we can explore the museum and the guide will tell you a complete story behind Batik Danar Hadi.. We can't take a picture in the museum, but they have photobooths in the corner of museum...

We had an amazing private tour with Mutiara which set the tone for our whole day of exploring Solo. She struck the perfect balance of thoroughly explaining the history, cultural importance, and process of batik and answered our many questions perfectly. Her explanations enriched the rest of our travels through Indonesia as we noticed motifs, details, and stylings she had taught us about and could now understand them.

Loved the tour, which was very informative and showed a large batik collection from different regions and context in Indonesia. Our guide was warm and knowledgeable, and expertly answered our questions.

The place is neat, clean, and has quite a nice layout. The main building looks cool although maintenance in the museum could be improved. The guide (forgot his name) gave us tons of knowledge about batik. For a private museum, it has whopping number of batik collections that were mostly in excellent condition despite being 100+ years old. Definitely one of a few decent places to visit in Solo.

Great information about the start of batik and its history, types of batik, the whole process of making batik from start to finish. This is a private collection but the english guide provided all details and our questions were all answered. You can also buy readymade batik shirts and other products or you can buy material and have it made to your fit. Only downside is you may not take pictures or videos. The tour took little over an hour. Time well spent

Okay---look. This is an amazing museum AND an unforgettable experience. Even though visitors are not allowed to take photos (which is entirely fair for a private museum), the guide's knowledge, the stupendous collection of every kinds of batik (I was most impressed with the Batik Peranakan and Batik Keraton Yogya) and the general atmosphere of the building more than make it up. Definitely a must-visit place if you come to Solo, whether or not you like museums. Really.

My favourite batik museum in Indonesia. The privately-owned House of Danar Hadi offers a big, well-curated and well-maintained collection, tucked inside a namesake shop. A tour guide is included in the entrance fee.

I went alone and my guide Yori (if I remember his name correctly) was great!! He was very informative but also warm, personable, and funny. Thanks again :) - Timing 🕰️: The tour usually takes 45 mins to 1 hour, but mine took 1 and a half cause I asked heaps of questions 😅 So it depends on how curious you are! :) - Accessibility ⚠️♿️: There’s around 10 rooms (from memory) and no seating area so I would recommend this able-bodied people that can stand for long periods of time. Unfortunately, most of the batik pieces are on low platforms so you have to crouch, squat, or bend over to view them which hurt :(( There’s a few steps of stairs to get to each room. You also cannot drink or eat inside so I got a little thirsty and pusing at the end :( The toilets are also a little far from the museum section. - Service: Tour guide was amazing!! But cashier ladies were a little rude lol, didn’t really smile and had no patience for my broken Indonesian 😭😭 TLDR great tour with a little accessibility issues and some minor service hiccups at the start
