Ohhhh I loved York. It was on my UK bucket list for years (the list is short as I don't think about UK travel much, being from England, I actually tend to live and work away and go to more far flung places and leave poor old England far behind 😅) but I had a really fun 5 days there last summer. We packed a lot in. Loved the walk around the Old City Walls. Actually took a lot longer than we thought and you go up and down different parts that aren't all connected together, as there are gaps now. The gatehouses are cool and we missed out on coffee in the Gatehouse Coffee shop because it was closed on the day I wanted to go in, which was the one thing I didn't get to do on my wishlist! Go there for me pls 🙏😅 The Viking museum is brilliant! Def pre-book a ticket. There are lots of cool exhibits, including fossilised poop, and also a ride 😊 The York Minster is a must see for architecture . Pre book tickets again. Betty's Tea Room is a famous cafe there in town, it always has quite a long queue, but we waited anyway because we wanted to experience it. The town centre is generally a nice place to walk around as there is nice architecture everywhere. We also had a ticket to 'York Castle', which is actually one last roundhouse tower left on the site of the York Castle, but it was cool to walk up as it has a nice view and the history of the former castle is exhibited inside. The Shambles area of town is what JK Rowling based Diagon Alley on in HP. It is a historic area that retains it's tiny twisty streets and old fashioned houses. Nice to walk around but can be crowded easily as it's so small. We liked eating from the Yorkshire Wrap Company, ther are a few spots in town, roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding wrap 😊😋 yum. Nightlife was nice too even with covid restrictions, we still found bars we were allowed to sit at and order cocktails. Obvs not sure what rules will be like when you go. Have a good time! ✨✨✨
