A path with very nice views but physically demanding. Many and very steep stairs and sometimes slippery. I would recommend this sentiero only to people that are used to challenging walks and wear good shoes. It‘ quite exposed to sun, so you might want to take enough to drink with you. Path gets quite crowded from april on!

Vernazza is known for its colorful houses that cascade down the hillside toward the sea. The buildings are painted in pastel shades of yellow, pink, and orange, creating a picturesque scene against the backdrop of the sea. The village's charming harbor is framed by the small natural bay and a breakwater. You'll see fishing boats docked in the harbor, adding to the village's coastal charm. Very crowded in off-season, it costs 7.5 euro/ person. It is a 3,5km km waiting line from Monterosso to Vernaza both ways. You get a nice view at the end but that you can get also if you go by train. Can't imagine how much worse it is in full season.

They said it’s closed…it’s not. Beautiful hike. I recommend going from Monterosso to Vernazza. You get the staircases out of the way and enjoy a nice view on the way down to Vernazza. 1.5 hours total and we went slow. Bring water.

A very picturesque path, along gardens with crops, vineyards, old gardens. Definitely less demanding than the route from Riomaggiore to Manarola, more flat sections but also has steep climbs, especially in the initial sections. walking time about 1.5 hours. a lot of stairs to overcome, the entrance from the Vernazza side seems easier but still requires good shoes and a bit of good shape. the route is paid, in my opinion it is worth spending the money, but if someone counts on a walk by the sea and still spectacular views - they will be disappointed. I was captivated by the picturesqueness of the route, vineyards, trees, orchards and the remains of old terraces where the inhabitants cultivated plants. But it is definitely not a walk by the sea

A great hike - even with a toddler. We have a ~1 year old who came on the hike with us in a carrier (back/front reversible), not a shoulder backpack carrier. Suggest a back-carry rather than a front carry. We caught the train from Riomaggiore to Monterosso and then started our hike which took us about 1hr 45 min - noting we were reasonably quick even with the baby. Suggest this could take 2+ hrs for others. The trail is narrow at some points which required waiting as was too dangerous to go 2 at a time with the baby. Despite this people were very accommodating to allow us to pass on the inside. Overall a great hike with some lovely views.

The path has steeper parts as you start climbing, but then it is more accessible. Can be done on rainy weather as well. Around 1.5 hours from train station to train station, but with stops for photos it will be more. Extremely beautiful!

Highly recommend this hike trail! We did it with our two girls ages 5 & 6. The views were awesome! I can see experienced hikers taking over an hour to complete but with two little people it took us almost 2.5 hrs. Recommend to pack plenty of water, good shoes (we used our running shoes), snacks and charged phone for pics. Happy hiking!

This hike offers the best views of vernazza as you leave the town, and some wonderful ocean vistas but be warned this hike is very steep going up and is also very steep on the other end approaching Monterosso. There is ample sun and it with its difficulty, you will need to bring water and wear shoes for hiking. The cinque terre hiking card is also checked at the trail and is needed (7.50 for a day pass of hiking, get it at the vernazza train station). There is some maintenance that needs to be done so some areas are a bit treacherous. Very busy trail with traffic going both ways so be ready for that. Decently fit folk can complete this section in under 90min with some photo stops.

Would much recommend the walk from Monterosso to Vernazza rather than the other way around. Reason is that on the trail; the scenic beauty of Vernazza is captured from the vantage point of the trail. And Monterosso is difficult to see from the trail as it is blocked by the hills, or by the time you near Monterosso you are already too low. Recommend starting your day early to catch the sunrise. Just remember to pay the trail fee! Trail difficulty is not that hard. Alot of up-hill. Wear proper shoes and bring water.

My friends and I did this trail back in the beginning of March 2023. we had perfect weather, sunny, not hot, not cold. The first part of the trail (starting from Monterosso) was quite a climb and it could get very narrow and difficult. The other half was much easier. We weren‘t really prepared for this type of hike, but I would suggest simply comfortable sneakers, plenty of water and maybe a sandwich with you. The views are truly breathtaking. As girls who aren‘t use to this type of activities it was doable and we had a great time. Also even though it was sunny, you aren‘t going to be in the sun the whole time. You‘re passing through woods, so it can get very fresh as well. The path was evidently clean in our case and not too many tourists at the time. From what I know this path is actually not free to explore, but the day we went it was „off season“ so it was free. Amazing experience.

Great hike between Monterosso to Vernazza, the views are great throughout the whole hiking trail and it seems to be quite popular of a hiking path as you will meet many people along the way. The view of Monterosso is amazing, also when you get closer to Vernazza as it opens into the beach bay and you can get a great picture with the colourful buildings in the cove. We met a very cute Samoyed dog ready to go on a little hike along the way too!

This is a pretty nice trail, if you are a bit trained it's pretty ok. There are several factors to keep in mind though, the heat from spring to autumn,is pretty steep while some paths are very narrow, maybe too narrow considering traffic in 2 directions which blocks you in case of larger groups. Indications are kind of ok but could be better. Also keep in mind you already need to walk up a bit before you start the real trail, so it's longer then you may think. I do agree with some of the comments that since they ask money, one could expect better maintenance, higher safety measures and indicate even more about making sure people are well equipped before they start since it's not easy to get help in case you would require. You may find 1 or 2 people selling some lemon drinks on the way but you better make sure you are least have a big bottle per person with you on the trip, especially for the very warm days and make sure you have sun protection as well, enjoy. A nice and well deserved swim will await you!

Amazing hike! Make sure you bring plenty of water and you MUST wear closed-toe-shoes. Also, they will check your ticket before letting you go through. The views are incredible and you'll be able to see both parts of Monterroso for a while as you ascend. Then, you'll start descending and see Vernazza. Stunning village! It's only shaded like 5% of the time, even in the afternoon so be prepared to sweat bullets.

This is an amazing experience for all of those visiting the Cinque Terre that can do it. I highly recommend this trail at least once. It offers great views, and while it is challenging, it is well worth it in the end. On the trail, it is important to take your time, as some steps and parts of the trail are more dangerous, but if you pay attention, there will be no problem. Overall, it took about 2 hours to reach Monterosso from Vernazza, with small breaks along the way and going at a good pace.

The hike has amazing views. In the summer try to catch train from north/west that arrives at 7:30am at Monterosso so you can do most of your hike in the shade. Steps up are similar, in my opinion, from Monterosso vs from Verazza. Either way, having good grip sole shoes is helpful though not necessary in the dry season. Many people wore regular sneakers and did fine. 1.5hr is about average for the amount of time to hike through 1 way, though if you don't stop for photos or rest, you can easily do it in under an hour. But if you've come all the way to visit, why rush it. Caveat, the towns get very crowded as the day goes on. We arrived Monterosso with empty beaches and by late morning it was crowded beyond belief.

You need to pay a 7.5 eur fee to enter the national park and use the trails, unless you have train tickets to visit all 5 villages. The trail is very steep in some places and there is no shade in some parts. It was already quite crowded and very hot in May, so I suggest visiting it earlier than that (or in Autumn I guess). The experience was still worth it!

We enjoyed our trip and the spectacular views. As with most anywhere in Italy, it's a lot of walking up and down. Keeps you in shape! Delicious food!

This park consists of 5 coastal villages that are absolutely beautiful! I would recommend taking the train because the roads are very steep and narrow and parking is limited. The roads also take a lot longer to go from village to village and if your not comfortable driving on tiny roads along cliffs I would take the train. Explore the back alleys in the towns as they hold all the charm!

Beautiful area with tranquil villages on cliffs by the sea. There is a very nice hike passing through all of them which isn’t too hard. There is also a railroad between them so you can hike one way and get the train back. This place can get very crowded with tourists but it is as beautiful as the pictures so you should definitely visit.

This was one of my favorite places we visited on our trip to Italy. We had a beautiful lunch at the edge of the cliff, walked on the beach, shopped, and enjoyed the beautiful views. Getting from town to town was easy with the train. Next time I am Italy, I plan on staying a night or two instead of just a day as there wasn't enough time to see and enjoy everything.

A unique Italian experience. Walk through the tiny fishing towns and you are transported back to a simpler time, with real Italian culture and great views. Each town is different in it's own way. But tourism has also clearly left it's mark and during the day it will be very crowded. Crowded to the point where you can hardly walk through the town and getting service at a restaurant requires you to wait in line for 30 minutes. There a no public toilets, so you will need to order something at a restaurant to use thiers. - Come early - You will have to walk 5-20 minutes from the parking lot depending on the town.

Took a day trip tour out here from Firenze. Stunning. I highly recommend doing the 1.8 mile hike if offered (or if you're on your own).

Beautiful coast line with excellent beaches, sights, restaurants and even hiking is possible. I would highly recommend to avoid August! Very crowded, heavy traffic, difficult to get a parking place.

Great food and fantastic views! I go back here all the time in my mind. We came out the tunnel right at sunset. The train, the cities, the sea... it's a painting. The whole scene is stunning.

The best way to visit Cinque Terre is with the train from La Spezia Central Station. The train departs every 20 to 30 mins. It takes 20 to 30 mins to arrive at the furtherest point: Monterroso. A bit of view over each place: Monterosso - good beaches (filled with fine peebles). It is not as good looking as the others but still has an appeal. Try the orange gelato in one of the gelaterias. It's really good. Alternatively, just have coffee on the beach. Vernazza - the most popular and most picturesque. Highly recommended. Almost every angle is a kodak moment. Try to have one of the many focaccia. They are delicious. Caroniglia - a tricky one as it sits on a sheer cliff. So prepare yourself for a 10 minute ascent towards the town and 10 mins for descent. It is the most different one but I enjoyed it the most. Have a look for vantage points from up above over the other 4 cinque terre villages. Manarola - a beautiful village by the sea with the same characteristics of the other 3. Rio Maggiore is the second most beautiful village in my view. Beautiful view from above and below. A few tips: unless you really enjoy hiking, I'd suggest you hop on and hop off with the train. You can see more and get tired less. Don't worry, you'll cover plenty of steps regardless. Google Maps doesn't represent the true time for a walk as there is plenty to climb and descent. If you are stressed for time, I'd go Vernazza, Corniglia, and Rio Maggiore . Try and do Rio during the golden hour. The colours are amazing!

We joined a group tour to see the 5 villages. They were all lovely but you really don't get enough time in each that way. I suggest staying in the area and having 2-3 days to visit them all. Or just visit one or two. We hiked between two villages and the trail and views were lovely! As was the cruise back to the starting point although were exhausted by that point. There are great local restaurants and shops in each village that are worth visiting. I am attaching a few photos from various villages we saw along the way!

The beautiful and brightly coloured houses that scatter the background of the Cinque Terre National Park is truly a bucket list item that you need to tick off. Depending on the time of year, you can walk the hiking trails between the five towns. We were here on the 30th April and only 2 tracks were open. It is worth buying the day passes which give you unlimited bus, train and ferry rides as well as access to the walking trails and the public toilets at the stations. Try and arrive early and avoid moving between the towns from midday to 2pm when it's really busy. Each of the 5 towns has something different to offer. Highly recommend

Cinque Terre is a small village in the north of Italy, built along the winding Mediterranean coastline with five very close villages (five small villages from north to south: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore). The biggest feature of Cinque Terre is its winding and narrow colorful alleys, built on sea rocks, with beautiful views of the sea and sky. Cinque Terre was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 and was designated a national park in 1999. La Spezia is the only place you must pass to enter the Cinque Terre. There are many trains to the Cinque Terre. It only takes 20 minutes to get there. It is generally more convenient to live here. The means of transportation between the various villages in the Cinque Terre is the train, with a single fare of more than 3 euros. If you ride multiple times in a day, you can also buy a day ticket. Personally, I feel that the five villages have similar styles, so you don’t need to visit them all, just choose 2-3 that you like.

This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have visited! We traveled there by train from Florence. We spent three days in Cinque Terre. Our base camp was in Riomaggiore. You can very easily reach every town with the train. Or better yet, you can hike from town to town. On the first day we took the train to Corniglia, and from there we hiked to Manarola. On the second day we took the train to Monterosso al Mare, and from there we hiked to Vernazza. The seaside towns are beautiful, but they get very busy with tourists during the day. That's the best time to hit the trails! You have the choice between the shorter seaside trails, or the longer, more challenging hill-top trails. The seaside trail will be busier with tourists. It was recommended to us to take the hilltop trails, and boy we are glad we did. The views were breathtaking, and we had the trails pretty much to ourselves, walking through vineyards and smaller communities. Then by the time we made it to the next town, the tourist rush was over and we could relax quietly on a patio and enjoy the town. Cinque Terre was my favorite place to visit during our trip to Italy, and we're thinking about returning for a longer stay.

Make sure you have plenty of time to explore all the small towns, try the local food and enjoy the sea. Amazing trip, travel in and out is easy although it can get crowded but train stations are easily accessible, suitable for groups and families.

Cinque Terre is beautiful, but difficult due to over-tourism. We went in late October (2023), when the weather was turning from fall to more wintery, and the local trains and towns were packed. The lower trails were closed, and one can escape hordes of people by climbing the difficult upper trails. Worth the effort! I probably wouldn't visit Cinque Terre a second time, as there are many other, beautiful spots to hike along the ocean without crowds, like the north coast of California for one. Manarola was our favorite of the Cinque Terre, as well as the town of Levanto, to the north.

In addition to its natural beauty, Cinque Terre is known for its delicious Ligurian cuisine, including pesto, fresh seafood, and focaccia bread. The region's wines, such as Sciacchetrà, are also a must-try.

Cinque Terre was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 and was designated a national park in 1999. La Spezia is the only place you must pass to enter the Cinque Terre. There are many trains to the Cinque Terre. It only takes 20 minutes to get there. It is generally more convenient to live here. The means of transportation between the various villages in the Cinque Terre is the train, with a single fare of more than 3 euros. If you ride multiple times in a day, you can also buy a day ticket. Personally, I feel that the five villages have similar styles, so you don’t need to visit them all, just choose 2-3 that you like.

This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have visited! We traveled there by train from Florence. We spent three days in Cinque Terre. Our base camp was in Riomaggiore. You can very easily reach every town with the train. Or better yet, you can hike from town to town. On the first day we took the train to Corniglia, and from there we hiked to Manarola. On the second day we took the train to Monterosso al Mare, and from there we hiked to Vernazza. The seaside towns are beautiful, but they get very busy with tourists during the day. That's the best time to hit the trails! You have the choice between the shorter seaside trails, or the longer, more challenging hill-top trails. The seaside trail will be busier with tourists. It was recommended to us to take the hilltop trails, and boy we are glad we did. The views were breathtaking, and we had the trails pretty much to ourselves, walking through vineyards and smaller communities. Then by the time we made it to the next town, the tourist rush was over and we could relax quietly on a patio and enjoy the town. Cinque Terre was my favorite place to visit during our trip to Italy, and we're thinking about returning for a longer stay.

Make sure you have plenty of time to explore all the small towns, try the local food and enjoy the sea. Amazing trip, travel in and out is easy although it can get crowded but train stations are easily accessible, suitable for groups and families.

Did a few hikes and visited all five villages plus Levento. Stayed in Monterossa probably the nicest one. The big statue is from the end of the beach past new town

Cinque Terre is beautiful, but difficult due to over-tourism. We went in late October (2023), when the weather was turning from fall to more wintery, and the local trains and towns were packed. The lower trails were closed, and one can escape hordes of people by climbing the difficult upper trails. Worth the effort! I probably wouldn't visit Cinque Terre a second time, as there are many other, beautiful spots to hike along the ocean without crowds, like the north coast of California for one. Manarola was our favorite of the Cinque Terre, as well as the town of Levanto, to the north.

It's a great spot to relax by the sea and enjoy fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants. Vernazza is often considered the most picturesque village, with its charming harbor and iconic church tower. Walking through its narrow streets, you'll discover cozy cafes and shops selling local products. Corniglia is perched on a hilltop, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Its unique location allows you to enjoy stunning vistas from almost anywhere in the village. Manarola is known for its romantic atmosphere and is a favorite spot for sunset viewing. The village's terraced vineyards produce some of the region's best wines. Riomaggiore is the southernmost village and is famous for its vibrant houses cascading down the hillside towards the sea. The village has a lively atmosphere and offers opportunities for snorkeling and diving. Cinque Terre is a hiker's paradise, with trails connecting the villages and providing incredible views of the coastline. The Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) is the most popular, offering a scenic route between the villages. In addition to its natural beauty, Cinque Terre is known for its delicious Ligurian cuisine, including pesto, fresh seafood, and focaccia bread. The region's wines, such as Sciacchetrà, are also a must-try.

1.A must visit place in Italy to enjoy the spectacular beaches with colorful man made houses on the rocks. 2.It's best when visited during summer to enjoy more but any season visit will not disappoint you though..!! 3. You can complete all places in cinque Terre in 3 days. 4. Good train transport facilities available to visit all 5 villages with every hour train frequency..!!

The castle itself is not so exciting... but the view of the town with the colourfulness is just amazing !!! (To see it take the the blue route to corniglia...)

2 euro charge once you get near the top. There are a lot of other great views in Cinque Terre that are free. There isn't anything at the top besides the view, so decide if it is worth it to you. (Could be nice to bring lunch up.)

Unbelievably beautiful. Stroll down the lane passing by small fishing boats perched in front of their restaurants until you reach the small harbor at the foot of the castle tower, across from a small church. Order wine, coffee or food at the cafe there, and count waves breaking over the rocks. How do you beat that?

A full-fare ticket to the tower is 2 euros, worth every penny, the panorama is beautiful. There are more place at the base of the tower, but the best view is from the top, where a short but narrow spiral staircase leads up. Serving facilities, food and drink outlets, toilets are not available on site.

There are many restaurants and bars around the main plaza that overlook at a man made cove. One restaurant is on the hill side with a spectacular view if the sea. However it only opens for dinner at 7PM, when sun is already gone, having a dark sea for your view. While walking through the main street, we found a one room size church, with many candles lit.

Worth the climb up from the town and then the spiral staircase to the top of the tower. A fantastic view out to the sea as well as of the town. Be aware that the steps up from the town can be rather tall, and a bit challenging for shorter people and younger children.

Beautiful panoramic views of Vernazza for a few Euros. Worth the trek up the stairs if you are able bodied.

Charming area with great views of Vernazza. A short hike up from the waterfront area will get you there in 5–10 minutes. There are also a number of restaurants in the immediate area.

In winter,few tourists,easy to take photos. But few stores open.

A MUST! I was built in the year 1000. This place is beautiful, from above you can appreciate the town with a panoramic and unique view. To get to the top you must walk uphill, it is not an easy walk and you could get tired, so wear comfortable shoes and water, you will need it when you get up. On your way to the top you will be breathless, each hill makes you look at the Mediterranean with different eyes, the cobblestone houses are beautiful and you will walk among ancient and colorful streets. On the way you will find restaurants with a great view to eat or drink coffee. I would definitely go back, I love this place.💙

When in Vernazza, walking the stone stairs from the village streets straight to the Doria tower platform is the ultimate climbing experience (besides hiking Sentiero Azzurro). The 360° view provides perfect feelings for what Cinque Terre is: majestic rocky coastline covered in lush green Mediterranean vegetation mixed with vines, olive and lemon trees, red, yellow and orange painted old houses hanging on slopes, white boats scattered over unrested deep blue waters, and the light blue sky merging the sea at horizons. .

You can get a great 360 view of the town of Vernazza from the top of the tower. Well worth the two euro you pay as an entrance fee highly recommend. Would definitely come back again.

Great view of the entire town of Vernazza. You can climb up the small tower and get an even better view. Quick visit. No history or explanations though, so 2 euros is a bit annoying to charge.
