Gornji Grad-Medveščak is a region in the city of Zagreb, Croatia that sits atop a hill, which is why it's colloquially referred to as Upper Town. Its placement above Donji Grad makes it an important historical site with incredible views of the city below.
The Kulmer Palace Museum is dedicated to personal objects from former lovers, with accompanying short synopses of their relationships. It is a quirky and interesting museum that is well worth a visit for its unique collection.
I think this museum is quite unique in terms of theme. Each and every item in the museum has a story which will amuse and make you sad both at same time. Some stories are very touching and quite a collection of from everywhere in the world. I believe it's must visit in Zagreb, you can't hear stories of people everywhere.
Sonika Prakash — Google review
Do not hesitate to go to this museum if you like to read, like English and/or if you are into love stories. It’s a museum in which there are objects people have given them accompanied with the story of it. Some of them are truly emotional to read, and you will relate somehow with at least some of the stories (there are some about family, not only couples). Even though they say you take from 45min to 1h, I was so involved with the stories, I just lost track of time and spent 2h there, reading and understanding. There’s a book you can write there, it’s a great moment to let go, and there’s also a bar. Great experience, it was my first stop in Zagreb and I definitely say you shouldn’t skip it if you like reading!
Brunna Cocchi — Google review
What a cool concept. So simple, but so wonderful and very well implemented into a museum.
The ticket is 7€ and you'll spend between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
Stories about relationships that ended, whether they were from lovers, family or friends.
Some are funny, some are witty, some are meh, and some are heartbreaking.
Awesome museum, one of those that you'll remember.
Elede GD — Google review
*Baby stroller friendly location*. First I wasn’t sure to go or not. It was pouring rain in Zagreb and at first it was just a place to hide in to skip the rain. But ot turned out to be a must visit musuem. Lots of fun/touching/interesting past relationship stories. Would definitely recommend it. The girls in the reception are very polite and the cafe has good coffee.
Goksemin — Google review
This is a roving exhibit that goes around the world. The idea here is to exhibit items that signify love lost and tell their story. And these stories come from around the world.
Some of the stories are quite quirky while others are down right sad to read.
Wilson Foo — Google review
Emotional and tragic museum with a variety of stories. The exhibition is well made and with a lot of detail, but the place is really small so it can get crowded easily. Also the cafè next to it is cut, nonetheless the worker could be more friendly.
Robin — Google review
Not a typical museum. The personal stories were interesting, funny, touching, sad, weird, and gross at different points. I enjoyed my visit more than I expected. Cool souvenirs, too. I disagree with previous comments claiming that it's small. I read every story and felt like if there were more, it would've been too much
Natalia — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! From being on the verge of tears, laughing and being absolutely shocked. If you wander through the entire museum (which I recommend) it’ll take you about an hour. Cost is 50kn. Each sign is in English and Croatian but a visitor book is provided if you do not speak these languages. Toilets and a cafe inside the museum. Great gift shop, including a book which has more objects not in the museum.
Definitely recommend for anyone in Zagreb.
Tamika Green — Google review
A very surprising museum. First of all, relatively cheap, with prices being €7 for adults and just €5,50 for students. I spent a solid 1+ hour inside and instead of my expectations of the museum just being about toxic or broken romantic relationships, the museum actually sheds light on very interesting other themes in an interesting way. The exhibition consists of personal stories that revolve around anything from romance, parental love, family dilemmas/losses to dramatic losses as a result of war. All in all a very interesting and 'enjoyfull' experience and an assured recommendation for anyone looking for an interesting/alternative museum in Zagreb :)
stan kremer — Google review
The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia, is a profoundly moving and innovative cultural institution. It showcases a poignant collection of personal objects donated by individuals from across the globe, each accompanied by heartfelt narratives detailing the stories of love and loss. This museum creates a powerful space for reflection on the complexities of human relationships and the universal experiences of heartbreak and healing.
Willy Dinata — Google review
Nice place some stories made me laugh and some were sad. Worth a visit. The belongings of lovers is well intact and maintained. The coffee shop has awesome ice latte and cocoa milk for kids. Overall great experience and very relatable to the young generation.
Neeta Singhvi — Google review
A really unique museum experience. Not much to do apart from stand and read which is difficult when the museum is crowded but I’d still recommend visiting. It’s in a very cute part of the town and the workers are very nice.
Loïs Dunford — Google review
Pretty different museum. We loved it!
Went there on a weekday around 7:30pm. It had maybe 10 other people there with us. There are some pretty cool stories and artifacts from all over the world which made the whole experience worth it for us.
I think it's a pretty cool concept that can be replicated all over the world. I like that they do traveling expositions as well.
Diego Salas — Google review
Wow. What a cool concept for a museum! There are moments of heartbreak, laughter and reflection and I’m sure we can all relate to something there. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collections but reading the stories behind them, from all over the world, really made me feel connected. And for only €7, why would you not go?
Amanda Moss — Google review
Some make you angry. Some make you laugh out loud. Some are deeply moving.
A surprisingly heartfelt and genuinely interesting museum that I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone, and will be going again if I am ever in Zagreb. Fantastic!

The exhibition at the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is fascinating. It thoughtfully displays objects symbolising the conclusion of various relationships, whether between an individual, friends, family, or even a person and an object. As you explore the exhibit, you come across diverse items, each accompanied by a story that unveils the depth and meaning behind it. The museum provides a distinct perspective on human connections, capturing the intricacies of relationships, beautifully curated and emotionally resonant, offering a unique insight into the complexity of relationships.
Carlotta Olympia Pompei — Google review
Firstly, the museum's name is incredibly appealing. I was captivated by this exhibit to the extent that I immersed myself in nearly all the narratives. I wholeheartedly endorse this museum.
However, my museum experience was somewhat disrupted by noisy fellow visitors. It would greatly enhance the ambiance if a "Please Maintain Silence" sign were placed, considering that the primary attraction here is the written word.
Karishma — Google review
A very different experience, one of happy and sad all mixed. The stories…some are devastating, some are the harsh truth, some are just lovely memories or memoirs. We all really enjoyed it, teens included.
Heather B — Google review
The museum is cool, all fancy inside with brochures in many languages. The stuff on display has stories in Croatian and English. They sell lots of things too. I thought it'd be funny stories about relationships, but only a few were like that. Most were about war, losing family, and sad tales. It made me really sad reading all that stuff.
The Jesuit Church of St. Catherine is an impressive medieval-style Catholic church constructed in the 13th century. The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful examples of Baroque art, as well as stucco reliefs by Italian artist Antonio Quadrio from the 1720s. The church also has a beautiful ceiling in the nave with many medallions depicting scenes from the life of Saint Catherine.
Such a gorgeous facade. The colourful tiles on the roof are unique and eye catching. Unfortunately the whole area is cordoned off as of April 2022 yet still a sight to behold.
Bharathi Mani — Google review
This is a must see. The design is amazing and is the only one of its kind. The colors from the facade are mesmerizing. Even though this cathedral is not very big, it’s greatness is unmeasurable.

A beautiful exterior, primarily the roof which is tiled in beautiful mosaics. Unfortunately the building was undergoing restoration so no clue what the inside looks like.
Jan Smith — Google review
Unfortunately it was closed when we visited Zagreb in April 2024 for visits. Just saw it from outside and took photo. But o have a feeling that it should be nicer outside than inside. So it felt okey!
Murat Uder — Google review
This is a must see if your in Zagreb. The roof and the colours are so unique and beautiful. I have never seen any building like this before.
Unfortunately you were not able to go inside and the area was fenced off. Even though we couldn’t visit the church itself I was still very happy about seeing it from the outside.
The 13th-century St Mark’s Church is one of Zagreb’s most emblematic buildings.
Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right.
The Gothic portal, composed of 15 figures in shallow niches, was sculpted in the 14th century.
The interior contains sculptures by Ivan Meštrović, though the church is open only at Mass times.

Despite its size, no one can deny how iconic the church is. This church in the old town Zagreb shows its signature checker patterns on its roof tiles along with the crests.
It’s such as shame that the church is not open for public visiting. It would be very interesting to see the interiors of the church
Aik Sittichai — Google review
A smallish and fairly simple gothic church with a baroque tower. The church is known mostly for it's colorful tiled roof that sports two coats-of-arms. It's located between government buildings and was entirely closed off in the July of 2021. An ornate side gate decorated with a number of statues is the highlight of the entire structure. The church is not a cathedral, but one of the oldest churches in the city
Robert Chomicz — Google review
Very pretty church from the outside. Unfortunately, it seems like you can't get close to it nor inside right now. Someone else mentioned that's because of security measures since most of the government buildings are close by. It's a shame since it looks like it would be pretty cool inside.
Diego Salas — Google review
It is a very beautiful church that I have ever seen. The roof is cute and beautiful. The location is very close to the Stone Gate and the middle of the city. However, that's a pity that you cannot approach to the church. It would be very interesting to see the inside though.

This is a superb building with the most striking of designs. Highly recognisable, near the Stone Gate and in the old town it is well worth a look for a few hours. This is a beautiful town and this building was one of the most memorable parts of Croatia.
Willie R-D — Google review
One of Zagreb's most iconic architectural and cultural places, the Saint Mark Church is located at Saint Mark Square, part of the former Gradec, today the Upper Town Zagreb.
The tiled roof presents two historic emblems. One is of the former Kingdom of Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia. The second represents Zagreb, the city of wide-open gates, always open to visitors and new citizens.
For many people, Saint Mark's Church has also a special emotional value, especially if they entered the marriage in this particular church.
Tigi Borg — Google review
Symbol of the city. Everyone must to see. Unfortunately very often it's closed and entrance is not possible, so I cannot describe interior. It's very close to other attractions, so even if it's closed, it's worth taking a walk around the church.

Shame you can't access inside at the moment but a beautiful tiled building from the outside. Worth checking out during the day time and try to miss golden hour or sunset to get good photos

Review of the Church of St. Mark in Zagreb
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
The Church of St. Mark in Zagreb is a breathtaking architectural gem, renowned for its cultural and historical significance. This church, situated in the heart of Zagreb’s Upper Town, is a testament to the city’s rich past and vibrant present.
Architectural and Historical Significance
Built in the 14th century as a parish church, St. Mark’s Church has undergone numerous transformations and restorations throughout its history. It’s most famous for its colorful tiled roof, featuring the coats of arms of Zagreb, Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia. This roof is not only a symbol of the church but of Zagreb itself.
The southern portal of the church, a relic from the transition from the 14th to the 15th century, is an exquisite example of Gothic architecture. The church has endured various historical events, including earthquakes and fires, with significant restorations in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Recent Renovation
Recently, the Church of St. Mark underwent a comprehensive renovation, which lasted more than three years and cost over six million euros. This renovation was crucial, particularly after the significant damage caused by the Zagreb earthquake in 2020. The church’s interior, including its vaulted ceiling and frescoes, was meticulously restored, preserving its historical essence while ensuring its structural integrity .
Accessibility and Current Status
Unfortunately, due to security measures following a terrorist attack near the government buildings in 2021, access to the church has been restricted. These measures, while necessary for safety, have temporarily limited public access to this magnificent church. The Croatian government is working on solutions to allow visitors and worshippers to enter the church safely while maintaining the required security for nearby government buildings .
Incorporating into a Zagreb Itinerary
When visiting Zagreb, a stroll around the Upper Town is a must, and the Church of St. Mark, despite the current access limitations, remains a key landmark. You can admire the church’s exterior and its iconic roof from the St. Mark’s Square. The square itself is a hub of political and cultural activity, flanked by the Croatian Parliament and other historical buildings.
Overall Impression
The Church of St. Mark is more than just a place of worship; it’s a symbol of Zagreb’s historical resilience and artistic richness. Its recent restoration underscores the city’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. While access to the interior may be limited, the church’s exterior alone is a sight to behold and a reminder of Zagreb’s enduring spirit.⬤

Great opportunity to visit this Eastern Orthodoxy church and learn about their hostory and appreciate the beauty of this architecture.

We couldn't explore it well as it was undergoing renovation and was fenced off. It definitely has an impressive exterior and a very beautiful mosaic on the roof - it's worth seeing.
Ralitsa Grebenarova — Google review
Beautiful church in the city of Zagreb. Uniquely decorated roof.
Eric Lee — Google review
St. Mark's Church, situated in the Upper Town of Zagreb, Croatia, is a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. Its distinctive roof features the colorful coats of arms of Zagreb and Croatia. This iconic landmark is not only a testament to the city's rich history but also serves as a place of worship and a symbol of civic pride for the people of Zagreb.
Willy Dinata — Google review
One of the best known rooftops in Zagreb. It's worth visiting. I didn't have a chance to visit inside.
Ul. Ivana Tkalčića, previously known as Potok (the brook) once served as a boundary between two districts, Kaptol and Gradec. Today, it is a delightful street with various interesting features that attract numerous visitors. Despite its rich historical significance, the street has undergone significant transformations to become an exciting hub for tourists and locals alike. With its charming allure and unique character, Ul.
The Celje Castle, situated on a hilltop, boasts of an extensive medieval history exhibit and offers stunning panoramic views of the valley. It was once the permanent residence of the powerful counts of Celje - Slovenia's most influential dynasty. Visitors can also explore downtown Celje and visit the Princely Palace to learn more about this prominent family, including seeing their skulls. The castle is an excellent destination for those interested in Slovenian history, as it played a crucial role in shaping its identity.

Amazing views over the town of Celje and it's surroundings. Great drinks in the castle's cafe. The whole place has been very well taken care of. Interesting themed events take place here from time to time. Would definitely go there again, next time with kids!

This castle is definitely worth you’re time. Entrance fee isn’t expensive (7 euro’s) and the castle is lovely! We were there mid July and surprised that it wasn’t packed with people (which was a nice surprise). Dogs are allowed in; they even got a treat!

Fantastic castle. We have been to a few restored castle’s during our travels and honestly some of them have been over restored to the stage there is no authenticity. Not the case with Celje Castle, we enjoyed our time here, and even with some restoration you still get a feel of how that castle used to look. Brilliant views of the valleys and Celje, worth the €7. We walked from the parking at the rail station. Special mention to the gentleman on the front desk who was informative and friendly and the lady serving in the coffee shop again friendly and makes an amazing coffee. Definitely worth a visit. We visited 29 Dec.

Great castle to visit, you can learn a lot about the history of Celje and Slovenia such as the 3 star on the Slovenian flag are coming from Celje family.
Also you get a very nice view on the city below the castle.
There is a cafe inside the castle that is also quite good.
And last but not least the staff was super friendly and nice.

Excellent view of the city overall . Nice castle and is eventually the biggest castle of Slovenia. Cheap tickets, if tired can sit in the cafe just in the castle . Very nice workers

Visiting this castle is a 1 to 2 hour experience. There is a lot of information about the history of the castle and the counts of Celje. In the interior there are some interactive displays and small exhibitions. Of course you have a fantastic view over Celje. Just keep in mind that it's mostly a castle ruin (still impressive).
If you don't want to travel to Maribor to visit "the world's oldest noble vine" you will find a sibling of this vine tree in the castle garden.

Beautiful medieval site that is well presented and interesting place full of history. There's several exhibitions available in which visitors can get some general idea of what was it like to live at this fortified castle including a bit scary one where are torture apparatuses on display.
Extra bonus are many amazing vistas at the City of Celje from the birds eye perspecrive and very cute cafe and souvenir shop!

On our way from Maribor to Ljubljana we stopped by this beautiful castle and the view is extremely worth it. It is a short detour, but even on a rather cloudy day a total must do. Also not too crowded and student discounts are offered, which is always a plus.

Really nice fortress. There were two different exhibitions in the towers, which were interesting. Lots of things to see and amazing views from the top of the tower over the castle and Celje city. Ptuj Castle is a stunning 12th-century fortress situated on a hilltop that boasts an impressive collection of historical art, weapons, and instruments. It showcases various architectural styles ranging from the 14th to the 18th centuries but still retains its majesty. Visitors can access the castle through Grajska ulica, east of Hotel Mitra, which leads to a covered wooden stairway and the Renaissance Peruzzi Portal (1570).
Small but lovely palace museum with beautiful panoramic views of the land. Artifacts telling about the history of the area. Nice gift shop for souvenirs selling typical gifts and wine. You buy your entrance tickets tyere also. Worth the visit. A short climb 5-10 minutes up the wooden stairs and then you are there. Park and Ride was a short distance from the bridge.

Nice castle that adds to a scenery of town, as it is different from each angle you look at the town.
Inside is nothing special to see unless you are a fan of art. There is no bar or coffee place and for me that is vote down. Many ways to improve, until then the entrance shall be at max 5€ and not 10€ as currently.

Inside the castle you can find a music exhibition too with musical instruments (autopiano, organs) and some of pieces allowed to use or just start a music with some buttons. You can find a different exhibition at each level. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The Old Vine House is a must-visit destination in Celje, Slovenia, where you can indulge in a glass of wine from the world's oldest living vine. This remarkable plant has been producing grapes for over 400 years and it is located near the Hungarian border. Aside from tasting some great wines, visitors are also encouraged to explore the charming old town of Maribor which is within close proximity to the Old Vine House.
We visited spontaniously this place in Maribor on our way bay home to Hungary. It is amazing to know that the world’s oldest living vine is about 400 years old and it is in Slovenia very close to the Hungarian border. We took part in a small wine-tasting session, too. It was an excellent program. I advise you to discover the old town of Maribor. It is super cozy and cute to take a walk there. And the Old Vine House is also very close to the city centre.

There is also a nice view on the river outside the House. I reccomend it to take time there and enjoy a glass of excellent wine outside. Personal is very friendly and they will advise you about the wine. You can also try all wines before you buy.

Wines quite okay. Some good some bad. But it's more like a shop than winery house. Very little description of the wine, we could read those Information form the battles. It would be nice to hear more about this place and wine from this Country.

Nice people in an old Maribor house with a large assotment of wine tasting and small gifts. Very recommended.

Came to Maribor on our return trip and stopped here thinking you can drink wine from the oldest grape vine in the world. Get here to be told it is reserved only for special gifting from the mayor to people such as the president, not for the common folk. They have many other wines to sample from however, not really being a wine person, did not try them.

Zotter Schokolade is a must-visit destination for chocolate lovers. Located in Austria, it's the country's largest chocolate manufacturer known for its weird and wonderful chocolates as well as its fair-trade and ethical practices. The facility offers tastings, chocolate making demos, and even features a petting zoo and garden.
One of the greatest experience in my life! Be ready to taste 300 types of chocolate!
Be aware that the best chocolates are in the end so don’t try too much in the beginning because you will super surprised after 😍
I loved this place!
The zoo was also very nice and the Zooter toast as well in the coffee shop(you should have one after 2 hours of a chocolate tasting!)

Wow! It was beyond description
The theater at the beginning of the tour was nice, the sound system is good.
Then the highlights of tasting chocolate, not only they taste amazingly good, but also the presentations are all creative and interesting! We couldn't make it until the end there are too many of them hahaha
The zoo outside is pretty cute, we also were able to put our dog in the dog home they provide😄

Great place! Definitely worth the visit! You can eat/try so much chocolate! I am good for weeks now. I also love the garden „Essbarer Tiergarten“ ! Such a lovely stay!

Great place to go on a trip! The factory (museum) is very nicely decorated and you can try more than 200 types of fine chocolates there. Behind the museum is a promenade where you can walk and see various animals such as alpacas, cows, peacocks, donkeys, chickens, sheep... a very interesting and fun experience!

Family loved it. You don't hear children very often, that is to much chocolate. You get a spoon and it is like all you can eat, but be carefull, there are 300 types of chocolate to taste.
Oh, buy tickets online and keep it till you leave the shop. You need it three times.
At the end is a huge chocolate shop....good luck there🤣🤣🤣🤣

delightful experience. worth the money as everything is made locally and ethically. the staff kept everything extremely clean and always kept a smile on their face. the toilets were also very clean and easy to find.
the whole location is huge so families can easily spend a full day there without getting bored - many stations on the playground for adults and kids!
almost mistook my boyfriend for one of the donkeys tho

Absolutely worth the price! Amazing experience for children and adults as well. You can basically eat as much chocolate as you can, more than 300 flavours, from the raw cocoa beans to the chocolate fountains and hot chocolates. Do not eat anything before that, and also only try small portions because you can easily overeat yourself right at the beginning. Also there is a huge chocolate shop at the end, prepare yourself and your wallet, you are definitely gonna leave "some" euros there ;)
Also the zoo is amazing and huge, there are many fun activities there, basically it is true: you can spend a whole day here. Highly recommended!

Def coming back! Whole place is pure art! Great experience! Tasty chocolate, top food and natural drinks! Employees are so kind and helpful! Huge parking lot! Pure 10/10!

The whole site is created with so much humour and love for people and nature. The animal park is full of art and has a funny “graveyard of ideas”. The factory starts with a sweet film about the origins of the different beans with attention both to the people and their social situation. Chocolate, from the whole process, is offered while walking through the factory. If anything the experience is almost too intense. There are many impressions. Everywhere there is built-in lightness and fun, from how the robots behave to the lightbulb chocolate moving around in hanging baskets. Generosity, consideration and inventiveness is reflected in every detail

Amazing half day experience for the whole family. After going through the factory you can walk around the garden where there is a children's playground as well. Just a perfect trip, cannot recommend it enough!

A great experience, a great four hours with my family! The only complaint is that you can't fully enjoy it if you're lactose and soy intolerant. And the biggest problem is that there is no Gluten-free and for this reason four stars

This is one of the destinations that you must have a full free day to enjoy your visit,,
Unfortunately our reservation was later in the day, and we even arrived later, but they were so polite and welcoming and didn’t care that we were late to our reserved time and let us in,,
They had a tour, but we skipped it and went on our own, it was for great and delicious, there is like 300 different things to taste, from the actual coco beans, to the liquid chocolate and finishing with their products and mix of flavors,,
The atmosphere was great, as when you walk from a section to the next, it feels like a new experience yet to have,,
There is also the store where you can buy the whatever you liked during the factory tour,,
And at last, we didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy the farm, but even a quick walk by was so nice,,
Definitely a must visit place,,

Toooooop experience! Love it!!! 300 different tastes of Chocolate, everyone is super friendly and they even have restaurants and animal park and activities. You can easily stay there for the whole day.
Will definitely visit them again. It’s a must go anyway. 🤤🫠🍫

I can't begin to explain what kind of a place this is. The whole experience is legitimately breathtaking. From the informative video that starts the tour, where you learn so much about Zotter and their background. The chocolate factory itself is so fascinating, with more samples and tasters than you could ever imagine, as well as so much incredible information about the processes and different thought processes going into the chocolate. The edible zoo is amazing, with lots of great animals that you can tell are really well cared for, the zoo is really an attraction of itself. Finally, the running chocolate is fascinating, with so many delicious treats to sample. I truly can not reccomend this place enough, it was magical!

I would recommend for everybody either with or without children it is a good place to experience deliciousness and happyness. You are able to taste around 300 types of chocholate which is really amusing. Before or after the taste you can walk through in an animal zoo, which is also quite nice and you can meet with several types of animal there and also have fun on the playing grounds.

Make sure you don’t eat any chocolate for days before you come here because you’ll definitely have a chocolate overdose after the tour! You’ll get an insight on how the Zotter chocolate is made and get to try an incredible amount and variety of chocolates during the 90 minute tour.
We’ve been here twice and both times was great! Our kid also loved it and it’s overall just a fun experience and activity.
Plus- the canteen area has excellent espresso which we went back for again later as it was just really so good! And the gift shop is worth going to to buy some of the chocolates you liked best during the tour.

It's one of the best 20€ spent in Austria (the cost of a ticket). You can eat as much chocolate as you actually can )) and the variety is just amazing! Everything is made with such love and attention to details! And the sense of humour! Gosh, I found a place in Austria where the sense of humor is so sharp! The cemetery of ideas is just hilarious! The zoo place is also amazing! So great to have a walk there after the whole day eating chocolate 😁. Thank you. We will be back !

The experience in Zotter Schokolade is amazing. You can try variety of different chocolate and even coffee beans. You will learn how cocoa bean turns to delicious chocolate in different taste. Beside the factory, there’s a farm can visit which also included in the tickets. There’s no visitors when we visited so it’s like a private farm with lot of kids playground. Must go attraction.

I have visited the the chocolate factory today with my son, there was Mr Jossef Zotter himself, great atmosphere and you can eat chocolate until you die, there’s a graveyard for you in the chocolate factory yard. I love the idea of visiting a chocolate factory, the view is amazing, there’s a farm park with animals and many activities for little and grown children! If you want to have peace and harmony visit in a workday.

Extraordinary destination! Whether one is there with or without kids it is always a great experience!
BUT for parents with kids, it can really be a whole day trip, since there is a huge outside to explore with a petting zoo, polygons(one for younger kids and one for older), small stream to jump over, and many other interesting installations.
Well, anyone even without children can appreciate the outsides as long as they like nature.
The inside is amazing on so many levels. The way the factory is built to enable visitor to actually see the whole process is wonderful.
The movie Played in the beginning of the tour was interesting even for our 5year old (we explained the important parts).
Every single part of the tour is well thought and executed in an interesting way. With robots serving you fancy praline, endophine balls rolling through a Rollercoaster to get to you and ejection shots hidden in corners with alcohol to boost you a bit... And so many other funny elements, too many to list.
It is really a must see!

Every time we visit, Zotter proves to be top experience, when it comes to chocolate production, museology, education or environmental issues.
It is a unique opportunity to taste various kinds of chocolate in various production phases and to spend a day in the outdoors.
The zoo, botanical garden and the playgrounds visit are a must when visiting.
Only thing missing is the restautant that was previously a part of the complex, but there are some food options at the enterance

Oh god what a great experience! First 20 min you watch a documentary about Josef Zotter and his beggining with the chocholate. Beautifully captured. Then you have tastings. It takes up to 1 hour and a half. The chocolate is so delicious. I would definitely go again. At the end we went to the shop and bought lots of chocolates😄

A very large selection of different types of chocolate and chocolate products. Everything is delicious and you can eat as much as you want. Admittedly, you can't eat a lot of chocolate because it's quite sweet and you'll feel sick, but I certainly didn't regret my visit to this chocolate factory.
This museum is home to a vast collection of historical military hardware from across the region. Highlights include weapons and armor used by ordinary soldiers, as well as elaborate sets of armor worn by nobility. The building itself is quite impressive, with two Baroque statues of war deities outside. If you're interested in arms and warfare history, this is a must-visit museum.
Absolutely loved it!
If you like medieval weapons and armor, or enjoy history than this is a MUST see!
Tickets cost us 10.5 EUR per person and it was well worth it - the museum spans across 4 stories in the building and is full of carefully maintained weapons and armor.
You will find many sets of armor and shields as well as individual parts - helmets, chest sets, leg sets, as well as a FULL SET of horse armor!
There is also a huge variety of swords, daggers, greatswords, pikes, muskets...
All of them are well sorted and in amazing shape.
There's also a few canons and mortars.
The staff is nice and helpful and you get a paper mini guide that covers some of the items exhibited.
6/5, very recommended!

This was a great tour. The people at reception were very helpful with information about this museum and others.
The armory has a wide variety of historic weapons and armor. It was really interesting to see the vast quantity and variety of artifacts.
Give yourself some time to walk slowly if you want to read all about the items. The minimum would be an hour, but you could easily take two hours and still find it interesting.

A very interesting museum in the city centre, well worth a visit even for people who are not history enthusiasts. At the entrance you can get a booklet in multiple languages with interesting information about the collection. It took me a little more than half an hour for the entire museum, but do make sure to check the opening times on the website as it changes throughout the year and sometimes admission is only with a guided tour.

Gideon Dijkstra — Google review
Huge collection of armors and weaponary, but too little detailed information!
Always check their site before visiting since at some periods they have only and only guided tours.
I believe at least at this museum the guide should be at least a military strategist so that he/she addresses most of visitors' questions.
Anyway, some interesting nuances can be captured during current tours:
Peasants (because of malnutrition) were smaller and so are their armors, and the latter were not bulletproof and were cheap. Around 14 kg
The museum hold the only fully preserved horse armor.
Gun powder
The con of shooting a metal ball to the opponent is that they can shoot it later to you, while the stone balls break after shooting.
Only noblemen could have gun so that peasants won't start rebellions. Noblemen used their armor sometimes to show off.
The heaviest armors weighted 41 kg and during summers some soldiers just fainted before the wars
Henrik Manukyan — Google review
Great collection of armor and weapons. There are unique pieces here that you will not see any place else. Make sure you do the guided tour. There are no signs providing details on the exhibits. Without someone to provide insights and information. You are missing out on 90% of the visit.

One of the most amazing collections I've seen anywhere. I took the English tour (and had an excellent guide) and learned a lot about medieval armor and weaponry. Afterwards I wandered on my own for about an hour to take pictures and look more closely. Many of the items have intricate details if you take the time to look closely. My only complaint is that the rooms could have better lighting.

Absolutely amazing collection of military weapons in the armoury. Even if this isn't really your thing, you should go for a look. Tens of thousands of weapons all lined up together makes for fascinating viewing. No bags allowed but there are little lockers you pay 1 euro for, but then get your money back when you retrieve your bag. Also there's an audio guide you can download beforehand if you want information as there isn't any at all alongside any of the objects. Make sure to look up when you're there. Many objects stored on the ceiling.

Amazing war museum, is the first time in my life I saw a huge gun's collection like this one. Definitely a must place to visit! Tickets cost 10€, the place is not pet friendly but the cashier keep mine at her place, so kind of her ☺️. There is no parking available around the museum.
The Fire Tower is a noteworthy historical structure in Sopron, constructed during the 13th century. Its spiral staircase, consisting of approximately 200 steps, leads up to a balcony that offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside. Once utilized as an observation post for spotting fires, it now serves as a popular tourist attraction with an entry fee of around 1200 HUF per adult. The ascent to the top may involve some caution due to narrow stairs.

I would say this represents the focal point of Sopron and with the great 360 degree views from the tower is definitely worth a visit. But you can combine this scenic experience with cultural interest by including the lapidarium which contains carved stone elements, some dating back to Roman times. Also if you go down to the basement you are standing on part of an ancient Roman road.

Definitely the symbol of the city! Indeed it is really a gorgeous monument, which can be seen from different parts of the city! Anyway, it would be literally amazing if you can even acces it to enjoy an amazing view of the city but I am not 100% sure this is not possible to do!

The biggest site in Sopron, the fire tower is a must visit. A former tower used to spot fires. You have to pay something like 1200 HUF to visit for an adult. There are only stairs to go up, but its not that many, and you actually do not go to the very top of the tower. Along the way are some visuals and descriptions that explain the history of the tower and the city. At the top the views are great, overlooking the entire city and countryside.

Schönbrunn Palace is an important and popular tourist destination in Vienna,Austria. The exterior of the castle is brightly painted yellow and its gardens are meticulously maintained. Within the palace walls are many ornate ceremonial rooms, including a world-famous rococo maze.
Beautiful palace. Great place to visit during the summers to enjoy the enormous gardens and grounds surrounding of the palace. The sculptures and fountains designed are stunning. From the topmost point it has a great view of the city. The garden is enormous even for a quick walk it would take hours. The trees are arranged in a maze like structure and there are zoos and greenhouses inside along with a Japanese garden. Would recommend 🌻

An Austrian palace with big gardens, rose garden and a botanic garden. Easy to get using public transportation.
I took the 22 rooms self-tour (Imperial, 18€), and got audio guide included. Most of the rooms are not special or beautiful, the last 4-5 are the interesting rooms.
If you have 2-3 free hours, it can be nice (but not a must). I was on February and the plants are in hibernation. I believe the gardens are beautiful on the spring / summer.

Spectacular building and gardens, really very big and as I realize, perfect for runners - the surface, shadows, small hill to run up. Grand tour with the audio guide was very worth it, a bit of history that makes the whole story interesting. I suggest to book tickets one day in advance though!

A superb palace in every way, very well designed. The yard is huge where you can spend the whole day without realizing the notion of time.
Unfortunately, I didn't have tickets to view the interior of the palace, but I am firmly convinced that it is worth to se it.

Free entrance to the exterior area. It's a beautiful place for a walk in the city surrounded by nature. The Christmas market was open on the 1st week of January, it was lovely. I recommend booking tickets online if you wish to visit the palace inside.

Got to the ticket office when it opened at 8:30am first available opening for the palace was at nearly 4pm. I highly recommend booking your ticket(s) in advance otherwise just walk the grounds and see what you can. The 'other' gardens this time of year aren't worth the extra money in my opinion. If flowers were in bloom it'd be worth it, but otherwise see as much as you can for free. If you want to do the zoo do the combo for that and the palace. Zoo is currently under a little construction. If you're on a bit of a budget I recommend leaving the grounds to find food for something more affordable. I highly recommend getting there early if you're interested in walking around to take photos. It gets really busy after 10 am so if want photos without a bunch of people there go early. Also take some euros with you. The bathroom at the ticket office isn't free but there is one in the palace as well as one in the park.

But we came back the other day and tickets were still available, which was amazing! So you can come back anytime and finish your tour the other day :)

Beautiful palace .. fantastic tourist attraction in Vienna. The palace looks stunning in the night lights. The inside tour of the palace is nice. Photos are not allowed inside the palace. All the antique items and treasures of the palace are preserved very well. Great place to visit. Such a long area of the whole place. It might even take a full day to see the complete palace. The palace viewing tickets are sold here. A bit expensive though. Tickets are also sold to cover the half side of the palace only at half price. A lot of souvenir items are sold at the exit. The Christmas market is held here in the grounds of the palace during Christmas time.

The palace was amazing. There was a handheld small device which provides audio guide throughout your tour in the palace and tells you interesting stories of the royals who once lived there. I got the imperial tour which let me toured through most of the rooms but I regret not getting the full tour because the palace was truly magnificent and I would love to see more of it.
I visited the palace on 1st November, which is also a Viennese public holiday - All Saints’ Day. The waiting for 3 hours for me but crowd regulation was really well done. When it was my turn to go in it wasn’t crowded and I actually had the space and time to enjoy every bits of the palace. So try to get tickets prior to arrival and you will not have to wait.
But even if you have to wait there is no worry as you can wander around the garden of the palace like I did (where I took the pictures attached) and walking about the small let me oversee the entire Vienna. The scenery and gardening was amazing.
There was a small castle, which once was the dining of the royals, on the top of the hill and has now been turned into a coffee shop and an observatory. But be noted that you can only go all the way up to the observatory if you have bought the most expensive ticket type. I did not get that so I missed the opportunity to go up.
Overall, I would say this is a must-go when visiting Vienna for the first time. You learn a lot about the local history and can enjoy amazing view. :)

Great palace, lots of content in, and around it.
Takes at least full day to see it all, and being spread on a great area, there is lots of walking!
Due to lots of tourists, there might be few hours between you buying a ticket and entering the palace.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The whole family spent the day here, just wandering around the castle gardens. No charge for entry. Cheers big ears

I have to mention we have not been inside the palace (there is an entry fee if you are interested to go) but the outside and the park is pretty itself and free to visit and a really nice walk too! The view is amazing and if you visit during spring/ summer everything is blooming! Not far from Vienna city center and definitely worth a visit. Bathrooms available.

Went late afternoon as was doing other things.
€24 euro for standard ticket which will get you in the palace on a audio tour. Nice tour and some history along with it, about one hour or less to complete.
You can go to the right side of the palace and walk the extensive gardens etc for free, which I didn’t realize initially as some other adjacent gardens you can pay for.
Once you reach the back of the gardens you can go part way up the larger monument, to go to the top for a better view is €5 more. For the view it’s nice.
Scott Walmsley — Google review
This place is magnificent. It is free to enter and roam around the vast land area. There is a costly ticket at different prices (depending on which part/s of the palace you wanted to tour) to enter the palace. There is no line when we bought the tickets, but somehow there’s a lot of people freely roaming around the park, only few would buy tickets and enter the palace. Before entering, people need to surrender their personal belongings and get their audio phones for an audio guided tour, with different languages. It would took some time to finish the tour depending on your ticket, but the cheapest would be around 30 minutes to finish the tour. It’s not really time bounded as it depends how fast or slow you pace across rooms. Photography and filming are generally not allowed, one needs a permit for such activity inside the palace. There are souvenir shops at the ticketing area, at the end of each guided tour of the palace. Overall, it was a great experience.
For tourists who does not know the history of Austria, they may not find the guided tour fulfilling so I may suggest to read some history facts about Austria and Europe, in general, or just roam and take pictures around the park and the garden for free.

It was my second time visiting the palace though we remained in the gardens without visiting any of the rooms. This is a very beautiful castle with fantastic gardens. You will need several hours to spend time here and will definitely be rewarded for photography efforts as there is very nice contrast to use. The souvenir shop was one of the better ones and had several unique items to purchase. Just be prepared, these places, including this one, definitely aren't cheap with merchandise. It is still a place worthwhile to visit, and I recommend it to others.

A must for visiting Vienna. Manicured gardens and a well narrated prerecorded tour of the residence. Plan for timed tickets with a 60 to 90 min wait after purchase which is enough time to walk the grounds. Tours can be a bit crowded, but worth it! Bring cash to use the bathroom at the entrance.

Although I never got to see the inside, I enjoyed the grounds and the lovely Easter Market they had outside. My visit to the palace was tater spontaneous and hadn’t purchased a ticket online. Upon arrival, we found that there was over a three hour wait to enter the palace once the tickets were purchased. Highly recommend you purchase that golden ticket in advance to save you the wait.

Besides the great museum, the garden and trails are amazingly beautiful and well maintained. A perfect place to spend the day with family and friends or for a solo relaxing walk. The cafe is also very nice and the scenic view of town is spectacular!

It’s free to enjoy the grounds, which are extensive and beautiful. The Palace tour has 3 options - we took the longest (e29 per person) - which are all audio tapes. They move you through fairly quickly. Luckily it was not too busy as we visited in winter.
Lots of souvenir shops and cafes.
We made the climb up to Glorietta which truly has amazing views.

A wonderful piece of history!
Take the time to stroll around in the splendid gardens, imagine yourself in the shoes of the Impress just for a moment.
We came early in spring, we recommend visiting when all has blossomed to appreciate the beauty of the gardens, late spring / early summer.

If you wish to do the full tour probably best to book in advance. We managed to do the basic entry state rooms tour without delay but it was a 2hr wait otherwise, this bit really doesn't take long to view.
That said seeing the actual external architecture & vast grounds was the best bit and that's free to enjoy.

For the palace it’s a very huge palace with so many rooms. Each room had their own story and design. Beautifully decorated, with different color and furniture also the artwork in every room. I recommend to took a longer tour, so you can get to see the whole palace plus the audio guide provided insightful information.
For the other part of the palace they have an enormous size of garden. The garden are free to enter except some like the orangery or the maze. We spent a few hours walking around the gardens. I know it would be beautiful in the summer when the flowers are in bloom.
It will be very busy during weekend/public holidays. So make sure to buy the ticket beforehand.
Belvedere Palace is a museum in Vienna, Austria that contains a wide range of art from the Middle Ages to today. The collection has particular importance for its holdings of Gustav Klimt paintings, which are some of the most beautiful and iconic works in the whole of Austria. The palace and its gardens make for a lovely place to spend an afternoon, and it's worth visiting if you're interested in Austrian art.
This is a must visit location in Vienna! The gardens are stunning in their elegance and memories of a bygone age abound in the architecture and layout.
The views of the hills around Vienna are wonderful.
You have beautiful water fountains to calm body and mind, and there's a lovely cafe at the Upper Belvedere where you can sit indoors / outdoors and relax whilst contemplating life in Vienna.
In addition, last, but certainly not least, you have the Gustav Klimt exhibition and the palace itself.
Time well spent, I'd say!

The complex of palaces and gardens Belvedere is just a masterpiece. Two palaces (upper and lower), a complex of fountains, landscape design, a huge square. Therefore, this place is always crowded. Gorgeous art exposition of Gustav Klimt, including his most famous works. If you decide to see the palaces from the inside and see a collection of paintings, then it is better to take tickets online (the difference is noticeable). On Belvedere it is necessary to have at least 5-6 hours. It's worth to see it by own
The buildings look amazing as well as the garden. Sculptures and fountains located along the paths are pleasing to the eyes.

Book online in advance ! we were lucky to get tickets close to the time we were there otherwise would have had to come back later. Saw ‘The Kiss,’ amazing! Beautiful interior to the building- and lots of signs to tell you the history of the rooms as well as the art.

*Note, I didn’t go into the Museum. This is about the gardens. I didn’t feel like going to see “The Kiss” which is the main reason you go to this Museum.
The gardens are absolutely spectacular. All three levels of them. The bottom level is fun to kind of walk through the hedges and find a little spots. Some of them have sculptures and some of them just have park benches but you don’t know till you enter. The two main fountains are beautiful and super picturesque one side you can see the beautiful palace on the other side you can see Vienna making both sides beautiful in different ways. You can easy spend a good 2 hours just walking and enjoying the gardens

My visit to Belvedere Castle in Vienna was a captivating journey through both art and history. This splendid palace, with its magnificent architecture and stunning gardens, is a true gem in the heart of the city.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the incredible collection of art housed within the castle. The Upper Belvedere, in particular, showcases an array of masterpieces, including works by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. These paintings are not only artistically significant but also culturally and historically important.
The beautiful gardens, with their meticulously landscaped design, provided a serene backdrop for the castle. The views of Vienna from the terraces were absolutely breathtaking, making it a picture-perfect spot.
The staff at Belvedere Castle were informative and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply seeking a taste of Austrian culture and history, a visit to Belvedere Castle is a must. It's a cultural treasure trove that offers an unforgettable and visually stunning journey. I highly recommend it to anyone exploring Vienna.

Absolutely stunning palace. If you are short on time, do just the upper palace. Keep in mind entry is per the time given for your ticket. They don't take you in early and only give you a 20 minute window if you are delayed. The exhibitions are on three levels and it takes at least an hour to see each of them properly, 90 minutes for each level if you want to do justice to the beautiful paintings, sculptures and the rooms of the palace. The lower level has medieval and modern art if that's your thing. The gardens between the palaces are lovely too.

A beautiful palace with astonishing architecture and stunning gardens! The interior isn’t what you would expect as the palace was restored after being bombed in WW2. There is a beautiful ballroom made of marble on the second floor. The palace is filled with paintings from different periods and styles and can be considered more like a gallery.

It's hard to put this in to words how much this is worth visiting. You need to like art and you need to have patience to walk around and enjoy the culture. It was spectacular to see Klimt's the kiss. The architecture is awesome and the grounds and garden are worth a walk. So much to do, just pay it a visit

We were fascinated by this incredible piece of Vienna’s history. Upon entering from the main gate you have this huge space with a lake and manicured flower beds.
At the entrance of the museum you must deposit your backpacks in a special room at the "bag storage" and you can choose which direction to take first. The visit inside the museum has no time limit, you can go inside for as long as you want. It really is a must-see tourist attraction. We recommend making tickets online so you can skip the line at the ticket office.

The place to see The Kiss of Gustav Klimt. 🥺🥺❤️❤️
Make sure to get to the Upper gallery for this. Get your ticket online to skip the queue. The first floor baroque art ceilings are just marvellous and I couldn't get enough of staring at them. U can also see other modern artists like monet. A lot of art to admire and a beautiful interior. I went there during a very hot summer day and it was air conditioned. Enjoy the visit.

The palace is really beautiful, and the gardens around it are nicely designed for a pleasant walk. They've arranged everything well. Just remember to check when the palace is open before you go. That way, you can enjoy both the stunning palace and the lovely gardens to the fullest. It's a great way to spend your time!

Massive Palace and massive garden area. The architecture was unique and the maze garden took a lot of effort. The gallery inside was so satisfactory, especially the Gustav Klimt exhibits. There were a lot of people but it was not really crowded. A must-visit place in Vienna.

Really enjoyed this museum. A diverse collection of styles in a beautiful setting. The Klimt exhibit gets a lot of attention especially The Kiss, but many of his other works are just as interesting and thought provoking. Easy to explore this museum within an hour to 1.5 hours. The grounds are a nice stroll around too.

This was a stunning museum I would really recommend visiting. Getting tickets online in advance is preferable however if you don’t you can have a lovely stroll around the gardens outside. We only visited the Upper Belvedere which was stunning in itself - especially for the amazing Klimt collection but I would love to visit the Lower part next time.

One of the must see places at Vienna. There is Upper Belvedere, Lower Belvedere and the gardens. The gardens are free to visit. There are spread tickets for upper and lower palace. The upper place ticket is $17, but you can get a 2 in 1 ticket for $24. The famous “The Kiss” painting by Gustav Klimt is on the Upper Belvedere. It’s a must see. The gardens and the small lake are beautiful and worth the visit if you don’t want to go inside.

We only visited The upper Palace at Belvedere as this has a great art collection in particular the works of Gustav Klimt and many other great works of art. The building itself is spectacular as it was built as a Palace and never occupied as such, now serving as an Art Gallery. It also has a very nice cafe which looks out onto the gardens and Lower Belvedere.
There is, of course, a gift shop where one can buy memories at all budget levels.

Very impressive grounds and buildings - worth a trip just to walk around outside. Of course, the main attraction is Klimt's "The Kiss", but there are many other wonderful works of art. It's not as large as some other galleries and as such, it only took us about an hour and a half to look around. We went towards the end of the day and it wasn't too busy.
We had the Vienna Pass and couldn't see how to pre-book tickets on line, so went to the ticket sales on the day to find out we didn't need a ticket and to just show the Vienna Pass at the main entrance.

Totally cool place to visit and see the architecture. The statues were very well done and detailed. The cafe was busy but looked like they had good food. There were people also taking wedding photos here which I thought would be a nice background. A very cool place to visit with historical relevance.

Lots of art, with something for everyone. I visited Upper and Lower Belvedere, Lower was much quieter (and a better cafe) on a 2 in 1 ticket. You could also get a 3 in 1 ticket for their other site, but after two days walking around Vienna and its palaces my feet couldnt take any more!

We bought our tickets online for the savings and grabbed coffee at a Greek restaurant across the street to wait. This is a nicely sized museum and we were comfortably able to see everything in the upper Belvedere ticket in a couple of hours. The Klimts are gorgeous and well displayed. Make sure to not miss the historic religious pieces that are in a climate controlled room off the lobby!

A wonderful experience as expected. An amazing building in stunning park. Baroque windows. Paintings clearly described in English. It is here that you can see the Kiss and other paintings by Klimt. We purchased our tickets online, which do require picking a time slot. We could stay there all day.

Beautiful Palace- the art collection well worth the visit. Beautiful building. Some areas in the grounds a little run down/messy which was surprising. Get there early and you'll get to view the Klimt collection without the crowds. We got there for opening time and it was getting very very busy as we left.

We bought tickets online and there was no waiting time. But there was a small issue, they were renovating the part where you can store your luggage, so it was an extra effort to take it back to the HBf, to store it and to come back. The online ticket was valid for one hour, so you need to be careful to not miss it. The museum itself is a bit overrated and 17€ is really too much for it.

Don't buy ticket. Just go visit the garden.
Well the palace is huge and is ticked. However, the garden behind it captures its essence is what I had heard. The garden is open for all for free. It has beautiful sculptures, a lot of flora, and fountains. The sculptures are unique and perfect for time travel. The garden is extremely well kept and has flowers like tulip and lavender. One can breath the fragrance in the air. A lot of tourists stop here and so should you!
You can sit around and take a moment to absorb the beauty.
There's a small cafe there as well which too is open for all. They seemed to have a decent collection but they don't allow takeaway... They are strictly "dine-in" only. We were in a rush so couldn't sit in, but if you have time - the desserts looked good

I loved the Palace itself, it’s so gorgeous it’s actually a little overwhelming. The view is breathtaking to the point I felt like I was not paying enough attention to the art displayed inside.
This is one of the best, if not the best overall museum I have ever been to. Unfortunately my visit has been a bit tainted by the way I was greeted at the entrance. I was told to use the lockers on the left hand side, to my surprise those required a €2 coin to be inserted, which I did not have so started panicking a little, understandably - this visit was the highlight of my trip and having spent close to 8 hours travelling to Vienna, tiredness started catching up to me. I saw no mention of this on the website. In fact, I checked the FAQ prior to my visit as I contemplated heading to the hotel first, having been on the move since I arrived in Vienna earlier in the morning. For those interested, from Belvedere website: Yes, you will find lockers, free of charge, at all Belvedere locations.
How come was I directed to paid lockers? I can only imagine this was an attempt to get even more money from those visiting. Extremely disappointing and distasteful. I eventually headed to the cloakroom, where I was able to leave my backpack indeed free of charge.
I am the kind of person who always visits the museum gift shops to have something to bring back the memories, however on this occasion I decided not to purchase anything, purely because of the locker situation.
The Hofburg, originally an imperial palace and now home to the Austrian president, is a vast and ornate baroque structure with extensive interiors. It features elaborate marble foyers and hallways, as well as lavish living quarters for the Austrian monarchy. The Kaiserappartements, once the official living quarters of Franz Josef and Empress Elisabeth, are especially stunning in their chandelier-lit opulence.
If you want to know more about the young Empress Sisi who has fascinated everyone, this is the museum you should not miss. We did the full ticket with audio guide and silver collection. The guide is well done and everything it explains is interesting, the silver collection is cool you see the ostentatiousness live of royalty but a quick look is enough. You can see the Empress's dresses and all the rooms preserved and decorated with the style of the time, her office, bathroom etc ... the truth is that it is worth it and interesting.

It is an impressive and imposing building that houses a variety of exhibits. I honestly can't understand the purpose of all these massive internal staircases that take up almost half of the palace. Finally, the Greek antiquities are as if they were simply stored there and not as if they were being exhibited.

If you like knights, royal horses, jousting and such the Imperial Armory is a must see! A collection of 125 suits of armour carefully catalogued by owner and circa. The museum/palace itself is work of art with grand halls, staircases and paintings. Take a peek at the elegance of long ago. The entrance and self-guided tour with audio was included with my Vienna Pass

This is a must-see in Vienna as it is more than thrilling and the history behind it is glorious. I suggest visiting it in the morning as it is less crowded. An interesting fact is that the president now lives in that castle.

The place is MASSIVE! It has so much history and so many things to see! From the silver museum to the library to the sisi museum to the imperial rooms! It's a lot of fun but the tour is really long (about 90 minutes or so). The audio guide experience is really good! I got to learn a lot of things about the history of Austria and about the royal family! Some criticisms are that we can't take pictures at parts of the place (like sisi museum and imperial rooms) and that we can't connect Bluetooth earbuds to the audio guide remote. The amount of things you learn there is so much worth it though and the place is very well priced! I had a lot of fun there.

The Hofburg in Austria is an absolute gem that takes you on a captivating journey through history. As an avid traveler, I have visited numerous landmarks, but the Hofburg stands out as a place that truly encapsulates the essence of Austria's rich heritage.
I was immediately struck by the impressive architecture and the sheer scale of the palace. The blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles creates a visual feast for the eyes, transporting visitors to a bygone era of opulence and grandeur. The attention to detail in every nook and cranny is simply astounding.
The Hofburg's location in the heart of Vienna adds to its allure. Surrounded by charming streets, delightful cafes, and vibrant cultural attractions, it's the perfect starting point to explore the city. I recommend taking a leisurely stroll through the Burggarten, a beautiful park adjacent to the palace, for a moment of tranquility amidst the urban buzz.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, an architecture aficionado, or simply seeking a taste of Austria's imperial past, the Hofburg is an absolute must-visit. Loved it the first time I came here in summer of 2019 and still loved it again after four years. I’d say I prefer the summer time for this type of visit because it’s a vast area of space that gets quite windy and cold in January. Otherwise, you’ll be able to explore all the vast options when the weather is good.
However, if you don’t mind the cold, the grounds are yours, albeit there’s not much to see except the museums. Perhaps this is when a tour guide would be most helpful.

The Gothic cathedral St. Stephan's Cathedral is located in the heart of Vienna and boasts an ornate spire, catacombs, and a treasury museum. It is a popular Instagram spot for panoramas of the cityscape from either the tower or the outside.
Very very stunning church in the heart of the city. Made it there during mass in the evening, but will definitely be going back today to get the feel of the place during the day.
Amazing architecture from both inside and outside. It’s jaw dropping. And it has such an amazing/positive/calming energy.
The is no entrance fee to the church itself but if you wanna climb the tower and its 300+ steps or to see the catacombs you need to pay. Will add an update after I do the tours today.

Beautiful church, most of the main parts are free to visit so I can't think of a reason to not visit.
There are some parts of the church which you need to pay to enter, I paid for the catacombs tour and recommend that. I also paid to go up the north tower, you get good views of Vienna and a good look at the amazing tiled roof, however I am not sure it is worth the asking price of EUR 6 - take a look at the photos below and decide for yourself whether you want to pay to go up.
You can only buy tickets in person at the church, you cannot buy them online in advance, also they only accept cash, no cards.

This was an incredibly interesting and beautiful place to visit. There are several options for tickets, we chose the € 20 all inclusive per person one.
This allows a visit to the Cathedral itself plus both the North and South towers. One has an elevator and the other over 300 steps.Even though we could access both, we went with the elevator.
The view was fantastic, both of the city and the rest of the Cathedral. Then we had a guided tour of the crypt, absolutely brilliant and a great tour guide. The tour was in German and English and highly worth taking.
I would highly recommend this tour and if at all possible, try to be there for 10 am at least before the crowd. This part of Vienna is incredibly busy with tourists..
Also tickets are not available online and must be purchased in person in the Cathedral. This is cash only, as is the gift shop.

Behold the majestic splendor of Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, a timeless masterpiece that transcends mere architecture to embody the very soul of Austria's rich history and cultural heritage.
As you step through its ancient gates, you are transported to a realm where the whispers of the past mingle with the echoes of the present. Towering spires reach towards the heavens, their intricate facades adorned with intricate carvings that tell stories of triumph and tribulation, of faith and fortitude.
Inside, a symphony of light dances through stained glass windows, painting the hallowed halls with a kaleidoscope of colors that inspire awe and reverence. Each step unveils a new wonder: from the grandeur of the nave to the serenity of the chapels, every corner holds a treasure waiting to be discovered.
But it is not only the physical beauty of Saint Stephen's Cathedral that captivates the soul. It is the palpable sense of history that permeates its walls, the echoes of centuries of prayers and praises that linger in the air. Here, amid the hushed whispers of pilgrims and the solemn strains of organ music, one cannot help but feel a connection to something greater than oneself.
Saint Stephen's Cathedral is not merely a building; it is a living testament to the enduring power of faith and the indomitable spirit of humanity. It is a place where the past meets the present, where the sacred and the sublime converge in a harmony that transcends time itself.
To visit Saint Stephen's Cathedral is to embark on a journey through the annals of history, to walk in the footsteps of kings and queens, poets and peasants. It is an experience that will stay with you long after you have left its hallowed halls, a reminder of the enduring beauty and majesty of the human spirit.

I recommend you to take all in one ticket. You can buy it inside, go to the left and you will see the entry to the South Tower. Buy a ticket and go to the North tower. To get there, go out and walk around the church to the left side. You will see the entry to the North tower. It was not easy to get to the top, pretty narrow staircase corridor and long way up. The reason why you should go to this tower first because it closes earlier (see photo). You can observe night city from the South tower only.

I had the opportunity to go inside and check out this incredibly historic cathedral located in the city centre of Vienna. Both the inside and outside of the cathedral are stunning and picturesque. It is free to enter the church but there is also certain areas of the church that you need too pay to enter. I definitely could have spent more time in here and would definitely do it again when in Vienna and definitely recommend stepping inside if you haven’t at least once for a few minutes. At the time we we’re here it was mid November and there was a large Christmas market set up in the city center and we were wondering around on the evening when the area was most lively. Definitely wish to come back in the future.

Check times. Closed for tourists during mass. Free entry but pay for central bit and catacomb tour. Very busy when we went around 13.30.
It is truly subjective as it does depend on how much churches and cathedrals you’ve visited. We have visited too many I think especially the ones in Italy and even in England, hence this was a bit underwhelming. Gothic design. Tick. Ornate carvings. Tick. Not all of the outside has been cleaned which is authentic I think. We could see how history and time have affected it. Black soot/smoke from centuries gone.
One thing to commend it for being different - amazing roof!! That, I love. ❤️

Wow. I'll be yet another person to add a 5* review to this magnificent church! Stunning in its exterior, the beauty manages to extend to its interior. We made it during a mass which was great to experience and then visited again in the evening. Let the pictures speak as opposed to my review, and in reality, if you're in Vienna you're probably going to visit :)
Ultimately, my only gripe is that they only accept cash for tours.

The church is beautiful! A must see in Vienna. I like that they have divided their tour into sections and prices and you can buy an all inclusive or just buy the ones that you want. We bought the cathedral and catacombs. Cathedral has a QR code tour on your phone that is very informative. The catacombs were amazing and a little scary. Must see. We wanted to go to treasury too but the timings didn’t work for us. Do check opening times because they seem to open and close for visitors throughout the day/week, depending on services and mass.

Very beautiful cathedral. Since I came on Sunday, it's a good time for praying and no ticket entry but you can donate with buying souvenirs, and you can buy ticket inside if you want to look further more. 🙏🙏

We loved St. Stephen’s! We decided to buy tickets to the catacomb tour and the South Tower and we felt that we saw plenty. I think we spent about 10€ per person total to see both.
We loved the catacombs tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and gave us a lot of information about the catacombs. It was very in depth and in both German and English. You pay at the end of the tour in cash (they have change).
The south tower was quite a trek - not for the faint of heart or claustrophobic. The stairs are very narrow and you end up walking past people going the opposite way. It gets very hot as well, so I’m not sure I’d recommend going on a hot day. We went on a rainy day and it was cooking, but thankfully the windows at the watch tower were open with a nice breeze to cool down at. You pay for tickets at the entrance of the South Tower.

You must visit this cathedral when you are in Vienna. It is the most beautiful church in the city and probably in Central Europe. The exterior of this gothic cathedral was build from 1300-1500. It used to have the highest church tower in the world, and when you enter this cathedral you will be amazed on how much effort the Viennese put in building this master piece. This church entry is free. But you can also visit some of the paid areas of the cathedral

An awesome inspiring cathedral inside and out. The outside is amazing with the tiles and spires . Inside doesn't disappoint with ornate interior , stained glass, high buttresses. A must while in Vienna . It is free but you can ppay more to see more.

Amazing architect.
A must-visit in Vienna.
Very helpful & polite staff.
We did the all Inclusive tour, which was worth it!

I think it is one of the most important cathedrals in Gothic architecture. It is truly a magnificent work, it also has ties with the Ottoman Empire. It was used as a shelter during Ottoman sieges, and its bells were also used to warn Turkish raiders...

I visited St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. It was a magnificent building with a rich history, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through its grand halls, one can't help but be awed by its beauty and the stories it holds. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone exploring Vienna, offering a glimpse into the city's rich past and architectural marvels.

Amazing gothic cathedral. The main cathedral in Vienna.
You can get an all inclusive ticket for 25€ to go up both towers, the museum and the catacombs or it's about 7€ for each thing individually. We just visited the catacombs as my husband had been up the tower previously. The catacombs are well worth the visit! The tour guide we had was very good. The tour was done in both German and English and very informative and the tour guide was very charismatic.

The construction began in 1137 and completed in 1578, however due to circumstances such as fire and WW2, it needs to renovate or reconstruct until to this time.
Anyway, this century old cathedral is one of the marvelous I've ever seen.
It is an iconic tourist spot located in the heart of Vienna.
The interior and exterior are jaw-dropping.
It is a free entrance and yet a long queue especially in the afternoon.
There is a portion inside the cathedral to purchase ticket entrance.
During my visit, a throng of people passes by and you can't concentrate nor roaming around.
It was such an honor to see, feel and experience a hundred centuries structural buildings.
Recommendable tourist spot but I prefer you to come here as early in the morning to avoid people.

St. Stephens Cathedral is a stunning architectural masterpiece located in Vienna, Austria. The Gothic design and intricate details of the cathedral are truly mesmerizing. The interior is filled with beautiful stained glass windows and ornate decorations. Visiting this iconic landmark is a must for anyone traveling to Vienna, a truly unforgettable experience.

Absolutely Devine church in the middle of Vienna city. Only a very short stroll from the underground of Stephensplatz Plenty of opportunity to take Photos’ Off this majestic church. You can go in side but must pay extra to go to the front rostrum of the church itself. Plenty of photo opportunities. Still under renovations. Cheers big ears

St. Stephen's Cathedral, or Stephansdom, is a stunning Gothic masterpiece situated in the heart of Vienna. Construction began in the 12th century, and the cathedral has undergone various modifications and expansions over the centuries. Its iconic spire, reaching over 136 meters (446 feet) high, dominates the city skyline. The cathedral's interior is equally impressive, with intricate stained glass windows, majestic altars, and a beautifully crafted pulpit. St. Stephen's Cathedral is not only a significant religious site but also a symbol of Vienna's rich history and cultural heritage.
The historic city center of Vienna, known as Historisches Zentrum von Wien, is a magnificent sight filled with elegant buildings, baroque castles and parks. The 19th-century Ringstrasse boulevard is the highlight of the area with numerous incredible buildings adorned with fascinating designs, carvings and statues. The location is exceptionally clean but can be overcrowded during holidays making it difficult for taxis and cars to pass through.
A truly beautiful sight. There are several buildings in this location. All with amazing and intriguing designs, statues, patterns and carvings. The area is very clean. Taking pics and stopping to admire can be uncomfortable as the area is extremely busy(as it should be). So better go in the morning or early afternoon on weekdays. During holidays, the area is decorated beautifully. Taxis and cars will find it difficult to pass the streets here due to excess pedestrians. All in all, amazing place, definitely a most visit when you are in Vienna.

A truly beautiful area of Vienna. There are numerous buildings in this area with amazing architecture, sculptures, patterns, museums and carvings. The area is very clean and has lots of opportunities for taking photos. The area is most busy in the evenings and nights when everyone comes out. During holidays the area is decorated beautifully and has many Christmas markets around the area as I experienced when I visited here. In my opposition from what I saw the best one was the large Christmas market near and around St. Stephens Cathedral in the historic city centre. I would definitely recommend this area as a must visit when you are in Vienna.I would definitely visit this area again when I am in Vienna

No other city in the world can be like Vienna. It would take three life times to see it all, and then a fourth to see what you have forgotten! Don't get into the tourist traps, but read about Vienna, get a good city map, learn some German, and venture out into the city filled with secret, small passages, Cafés, wonderful museums and very good food.

Schloss Hof is an 18th-century Habsburg complex featuring a restored farm with state rooms and ornamental grounds. The palace, originally built in 1726, exudes Baroque magnificence with its elaborate design and stylized features meticulously preserved inside the building. Visitors can spend hours exploring the vast estate, including the beautiful gardens where they can find camels, horses, donkeys, and various plants for relaxation and picnics.
Great palace and surrounding grounds. Perfect for bringing a family along to see the animals and play on the playground. 10/10 will visit again

Great place to visit, very calm and tranquil if you visit on weekday, well kept gardens and fountains. The estate had a special exhibition of porcelain pieces and tableware when I visited (explanation on English was missing for most of the items on display so it was difficult to follow the exhibition)
Very nice souvenir shop where you can buy very interesting pieces like books, soaps, local products etc. Overall excellent place to visit.

I absolutely recommend to visit this beautiful castle, and while you're at it, i really recommend also seeing the Niederweiden Castle. It's not far from Slovakia on feet, or if u wanna take a bike. Some might say that the ticket price is too high, but i think it's really worth it. The gardens are beautiful, you really can see the hard work of all of the staff while looking at the state of the lands and gardens, also there are many animals, that look well taken care of at the farmhouses belonging to the castle SchloßHof. The exhibitions of Sisi and her son were very informative and nicely done, i was really surprised to see that the staff included slovak translations to the main german descriptions and at the start of the exhibitions, you also could find english booklets with the same translations of the whole exhibitions. I would like to also thank all the staff that worked on 28. September, you really made my day even better than it was, from lady at the souvenir shop, the lady at the cash desk, to the lady and mr. Roman who kindly drove us to castle Niederweiden by bus even tho we missed the official time it was supposed to go and then were even willing to arrange a time that worked for us to take us back. Im really sorry I didn't catch all your names but you are the best. All in all, this was a great experience that was worth every last cent i paid for the ticket. Really recommend, you won't regret it.

Place is nice and seems well maintained but we were really disappointed to be honest. Totally overpriced! Outside walk for 2 adults and 2 kids will costs you up to 50 Euros and this is just entrance then be prepared to pay for everything else. Dogs are not welcome, not even small breeds. After this we drove to Lednice Castle in the Southern part of Moravia (Czech Republic) where you have admission free to walk in the garden and dogs were also welcome to walk with us without any problem.

Beautifull palace near Vienna with one of the most astonishing gardens I've ever saw. The palace itself is mostly classic museum with only few rooms traditionally furnished, but the gardens itself are worth the trip. Great fountains and architecture, vivid flowers and as a bonus, you can spot many sqirells in at least one part of the garden, where you can also sit and relax in the shadows of the trees.

You can enjoy the meal in restaurant or coffee and cake in coffee shop. Ticket price is 23eur for adults, children up to 6 years are allowed free of charge. Beautiful castle. Entrance fee a little strangely high and strangely priced (21€ entrance +4€ only for a guide). The guide was excellent and we really enjoyed the guided tour. However as it was officially the family tour, I didn’t see it was especially family friendly and parts of the pottery als is not especially interesting. But the castle and the gardens and buildings around are definitely worth a visit!

Very nice to visit. Plan more than 2 hours, because it is huge and if weather is nice the garden with camel, horses, donkeys etc. and a lot of plants and palms is beautiful for recreation and picnic. You can also visit the castle inside or have a marriage party there. I would consider it especially as a place for kids to run free and have fun while parents can relax with a coffee or beer.
Maybe bring some snacks if you want to safe money.
But you can buy ice cream between 2€-5€. Or a hotdog 🌭 (4,50€). There is also a restaurant named after the white peacock 🦚 living there. You can order local Austrian food and perfect coffee.
Entrance is a bit expensive. To keep the Areal so nice costs a lot. If you do not live too far away you should consider if a ticket for one year. You can use it use it also for special events like Easter or Christmas market and Halloween in the garden labyrinth (not too spooky for kids, but a small adventure).

Castle Lednice is a magnificent 1800s palace constructed on top of a Renaissance chateau and Gothic fortress. It was owned by the Liechtenstein family for over three centuries until 1945, and remains a popular weekend destination in the country due to its splendid interiors and extensive gardens. The estate boasts formal gardens, an exotic-plant greenhouse, lakes with pleasure boats, and even a mock Turkish minaret that serves as an architectural example of excessive nobility during the 19th century.
Place is absolutely breathtaking and i was there in the winter. I can only imagine what it’s like in the summer when all the flowers bloom. Definitely need to go and see the architecture.

First of all the castle is a beautiful piece of architecture and the inside is also nice. BUT there are many things you should be aware of. The parking is complicated and you need czech coins to pay for it. Then the inside can only be visited with a Czech guide, who only speaks Czech. The castle is divided in part and you need a group tour to visit individually each of those parts. So to visit everything it takes ages. It pretty expensive to see everything with friends or family. The park is quiet and nice. Around 3-4 km to see all of it and reach the minaret by foot and come back. The minaret is also nice and beautiful. But again you need a guide and need to pay separately to see this part. Overall it's a nice place but the way it's organized is not convenient or not turned toward foreigners...

I visited the park several times, and in February 2024 I visited the interior of the castle for the first time.
A surprising arrangement that is really worth a visit.
We had an excellent guide who was born in one part of the castle (interesting stories). Minimum 1 day to visit the entire estate.

4 stars only because it's not open during off season (only on weekends in winter months). So unfortunately I could only walk around gardens. However the outside castle and garden are quite stunning. Parking is closeby but need to pay with CZK only.

Lednice castle is a small palace in Czech Republic near the Austrian border. The castle itself is simple in design but ornate in fenestration.
It has a large designed garden with trees and shrubs shaped by topiary work and specially designed vistas terminating at various points, most prominent being minaret. They have a green house also.
The township around is small and quiet. It's a good picnic point.
If you are not carrying food you need to be very punctual. All cafes in the palace premises and gardens close at 6 pm and all restaurants in the town, except burger restaurant close at 8 pm. Burger restaurant closes by 9-9.30. No other option in any nearby town other than one or two fast food outlets at the petrol stations on the highway, at least half an hour away.

One of the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic in my opinion. Luxurious chambers, beautiful interior and interesting history of the castle. Definitely advise you to visit this masterpiece, despite the relatively expensive tickets.

Aqualand Moravia is a water park that offers a unique experience on the site of ancient Roman baths. It boasts geothermal water, saunas, and various wellness amenities. The complex has something to offer for families, couples, kids or groups of friends with its spacious layout and numerous attractions such as toboggans and sliding tubes. There are both indoor and outdoor pools available for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, the park provides entertainment with hourly dance activities and a cafe/restaurant on-site.
I really love this place and i try to visit everytime i am in the vicinity, I love their Romulus and Remus, I was impressed with their wellness area. Great place BUT the kid’s pool is too quite cold. My sons had blue lips while playing in the water. I suppose it wasn’t just us who were cold because many kids used the 2 hot relaxing pools in the back area to warm up a little.
One more thing that I really didn’t like is the too much A/C in the restaurant and bar. When people go there with wet hair and in wet clothes, it really shouldn’t be that cold in there.
Ildik? Czegl?di — Google review
The park is nice, well built, a lot of things to do, but the fast track is ... There are around 5-6 normal rafts per slide and another 3-4 available as "fast track rafts" and because of that the waiting line is really long, if you want to go and use the water slides, just don't, we went with that in mind, after 5 hours in the park we managed to go 6 or 7 times... More than that we bought 2 fast tracks just to try the slides...
Indoor slides are bad, really bad, a lot of people got stuck in them (including me), the staff instead of supervising people are guarding the fast track rafts...

One less star for the restaurant unable to cater for so many people, by the time i queued for soup, hot food and then check out, the food purchased was cold.
Also it would be great if people could clean after themselves- swimming nappy left in showers is so not nice, but this is something the visitors should think about rather than the place having to deal with. Its all about people.

Telč, a charming town in the southern Czech Republic, is celebrated for its picturesque Italian Renaissance architecture. The town's main square, Zachariáš of Hradec Square, is surrounded by vibrant houses adorned with arcades and ornate gables. Notable landmarks include the former Gothic castle turned chateau, Telč Castle, as well as the 18th-century Marian Column and St. James Church with its stunning Gothic frescoes.
The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is a towering landmark in the city of Brno, and one of the most important sights in South Moravia. This gorgeous national cultural monument is composed of two 84 meter high towers, and features an impressive Romanesque chapel from the 11th century that was later rebuilt into a Gothic structure. The cathedral is well known for its noon bells which ring at 11am every day.
The outside is very beautiful, in Gothic style. The inside is OK. It's worth it walking up the bell tower for 2 eur and getting the views overlooking Brno. There are 2 sides to look at, so it's definitely worth it. Not too many steps to climb up.
Paul Heller — Google review
Known locally as Petrov, the Catholic Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul has a Gothic architecture and Baroque interior.
What’s fascinating is that the bells are rung at 11 o’clock instead of 12. Legend has it that in 1645, after months of continuous fighting, the Swedish forces had set themselves a limit to conquer Brno by noon on the 15th of August. Some clever locals and spies changed the course of the Thirty Years War by ringing the bells one hour before noon. In consequence, the Swedish army retreated.
Stefan Popescu — Google review
The cathedral looks the best from the outside. Inside it's just a generic catholic temple. The view point is also not the best (two little balconies on the opposite sides) but it has a very low price, so I shouldn't complain.
One special thing I saw which isn't often in christian temples is that between balconies, you go through the space which is between the ceiling and the roof of the cathedral.

The cathedral dominates the view of the city. The gothic structure has some very old ‘original’ gothic features in the choir. The interior is well preserved and you can feel that it is an active church as well. It is surrounded with terraces and some give a nice view of the surroundings. You can visit the tower as well. Some interesting features are the marble pulpit and the Holy Virgin statue inside, and the rather rare stone pulpit outside.

Brno doesn’t have many tourist destinations but one of the most popular ones amongst them is the St. Peter and Paul cathedral. It is hard to miss when one is arriving at the city centre as it overlooks almost the entire city. It is easily accessible via tram and if you’re willing to take up an adventure, then hiking from Hlavni Nadrazi is also an option. It is very picturesque and isn’t overcrowded at all. Most importantly, it has free WC available in its premises.

Biggest cathedral in Brno. Beautiful stained glass and sculptures. Gothic architecture.
Spilberk Castle is a medieval fortress located in the center of Brno, Czech Republic. It has been used as a royal castle, a baroque fortress, and as a prison during different times in Czech history. Today, the castle is part of the City Museum which hosts exhibitions on architecture, history, and art.
Beautiful castle - a highlight for any trip to Brno. Give yourself plenty of time for the visit as it’s large and there is a lot to see.
Lots for all the family to see and do.
Good food and drink options.
It’s surrounded by a beautiful park and has tons of viewing platforms to see all of Brno

Although the castle itself is not worth visiting, but the castle ground and surrounding is just breathtakingly beautiful. It is a perfect morning walk around the park, plenty of places to sit, there are view points almost every few steps, so get your camera ready. The ground and park is so well maintained and clean, while I was there I really relaxed and forgot about all the noise from the city. Perfect for a relaxing stroll.

Summary and caveats: not great for kids. Great for adults *if* you like 20th century art and/or photography, or early-to-late modern artifacts like old weapons, furniture, clothing, etc. Also, skip the first floor of the museum entirely, it was really not worth the time.
We spent several hours wandering through the museum and prison. The museum was delightful, aside from the first floor which is basically a tedious collection of historical illustrations with poorly translated explanations in English. Every other floor made up for it, especially the modern art exhibit. The prison was arguably something you could skip, though I personally enjoyed walking through the long dark spaces and reading about what transpired there. If you are short on time, it's very reasonable to cut the prison from your tour.

Pretty nice castle on the hill. I haven't bought tickets for the museum but I've gone around the whole castle and could see a beautiful view from the top of the hill. Also toilets are clean and free.

Great sightseeing spot to go to. It is right next to multiple sightseeing spots. On the top there is a bar with great bartender and the drinks are really nice. Right under the Castle is an nuclear fallout shelter also worth seeing. We did not get s tour but the public areas around the castle are really beautiful.

City’s big attractions aren’t appealing to me, but I’m so glad I walked up the hill to the Spilberk Castle. Don’t pay to go inside. Simply walk the trails finding views of Brno, waterfalls, and sculptures. Then walk into the castle’s courtyard and around to see the moat and more views of the city.

The view from the castle is amazing, and free.
There's also several very cheap guided tour options that allow you to enter the cast buildings. I did the "History of the Castle" tour, which I found very interesting. The tour was in Czech, but we were provided an English guidebook and our guide was also very happy to answer questions in English afterwards.
Included in our ticket was entry to an art gallery that is part of the Castle, which also gave a cool overview of some of the history of Czech art, especially in Brno.

Nice place for a family walk with a beautiful view of the whole city😊. From time to time there are some events organized there like the Witch burning event on the 30th of April that we were able to attend. There was a great opportunity to grill, try local Czech wine&beer and see the huge bonfire.

Very pleasant place, 15-20 minutes walk from the central square. Entrance is free, entrance to the museum is paid. A concert of acoustic classical music was held in the small square (atrium). A very pleasant visit.

Great variety of exhibitions for the fare price of muzeum ticket. I was surprised and very enjoyed the muzeum on a rainy day. This castle is much better than Karlstein! I learned a lot of information and history, enjoyed the pictures and art, saw the prison and more. I highly recommend to spend here 1.5-2 h. It is worth visiting.
Alina Biaznosik — Google review
If you like castles, I definitely recommend visiting Špilberk! It is a huge castle with a lot of exhibitions, ranging from the makings of the castle over its history as a prison up to modern-day Brno. There is art and sculptures, you can see old parts of the walls and castle, there are interactive exhibitions for kids, rooms showing how the prisoners lived and torture methods, and much more.
It includes the MMB Museum, the Tower and the Royal Chapel, the Treasures of Armoury, the underground water tanks and the casemates.
You have to buy all the tickets individually.
I bought one for the Museum, the Armoury and the Tower and Chapel and paid around 15€.
Sadly, the water tanks were closed at the time I visited the castle.
How much time should you plan:
A whole day if you want to see everything the castle has to offer
3+ hours for the exhibitions in the Museum
20 min for the Treasures of Armoury
30-40 min for the Tower and Chapel
What I would have liked to be done differently:
All the rooms with exhibitions in the museum have detailed info panels in Czech. The translations for tourists are found in booklets hanging on walls or given out by the staff. The booklets only cover an overview of the parts that are exhibited. They are not detailed and for some things, there is no translation at all. You have to translate it yourself if you want to know more. Some of the signs for orientation were only in Czech, too.
The booklets are in English and German, only in some rooms they were in French (if I am not mistaken) and only in the Treasures of Armoury I found an italian translation.
The quality of translation could be better, the English was good, some of the German (in the Armoury) was pretty bad and the sentences didn't make sense, otherwise it was okay.
It would also be very helpful if the castle could offer an estimation of time for the average stay.
There is a Bistro outside of the castle. The park around it is beautiful, especially in autumn and ideal for walks. The view is stunning, you can see the whole city of Brno and the mountains around it. It is definitely worth a visit, but plan your time accordingly.

Amazing Castle, most beautiful view
The art displayed around the castle grounds does not go well with the style of the castle (plus it looks disturbing)
Service in the bar/restaurant is typical for Europe, long waiting time and if you don't call them to your table, you won't get served

Konopiste Castle, located 2km west of Benesov, is a fusion of medieval and Renaissance architecture with a Baroque palace built on top. It was once the secluded country retreat of Archduke Franz Ferdinand dEste, known for his passion for hunting and devotion to St George. The castle's extensive grounds bear witness to these twin obsessions. Its historical significance lies in its association with the assassination of the archduke in 1914, which triggered WWI.
The castle has a history of Franz Ferdinands and his apartments, weapons chapel etc. A particular tour takes up to an hour and costs around 250kc per person (plus 60kc for the Audio device if you want an English translation)
You will see the old weapons used, his bedroom, Church, some garments, etc and the history behind them.
Aside that, there is a nice botanical garden arround full of roses and peacocks.
Its worth the visit.

It’s our favorite castle. We came here a long time ago and recently brought our kids back to see it. It has something for everyone. My 13 year old son loved the armory and the sheer amount of antique weaponry, plus the number of animals on display. My 18 year old daughter was enthralled with the grounds, the peacocks, bear and other animals, and of course the romanticism of the castle itself. There are 3 or 4 different tours depending on what you want to see. We were short on time so we only did the armory. We would have done another if time had allowed. One of our favorite parts was the little walk up bar next to the gift shop in the parking lot. It was run by the nicest gentleman and had wonderful sausage stuffed in bread, lattes and desserts. We sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed the area. It’s also very close to Prague. We stopped here on our way to Hluboka. We were able to do both tours in one day! You can purchase tickets in the ticket office and there is a nice, free restroom on site.

Such a difference such a short distance from Prague! We went as it was recommended by a Czech friend who has gone their for years. May I suggest the second parking area? The first had a restaurant and plenty of parking but the walk up the hill was very steep and unpaved.
Walking around the grounds themselves was delightful. Statuary, views, and verdant lawns were in abundance. Near the castle entrance was a clever display board with information on over a dozen areas of interest and history - in Czech, English, and German. Picking the language was easy I learned things I hadn't known.
We didn't get to see the castle interior as all the tours the Friday we visited were in Czech. Our Czech is not nearly good enough! But the courtyard was lively, with little cafes and a peacock! The small dog with us was curious but left the big bird alone.
We found out that dogs are not allowed in the Rose Garden as well as the castle interior. The garden, what we could see, looked colorful and well tended. But our favorite place at the foot of the castle hill was the lake. Peaceful, cool, and watching the fish jump was a nice break from the hustle of Prague.
Czech Republic has a true gem in this hunting castle by the lake. Please visit if you have a chance.

Amazing castle, the nearby gardens are huge so you can find a place where you can just sit and hang out. The tickets for the castle tour is fine (240 Kč/person, kids and seniors have a sale). There were multiple beautiful peacocks. Near the castle entrance is a exposition where were predatory birds. Parking is near the castle and just 60 Kč for a day. The nearby "rose garden" is gorgeous during the spring. I absolutely recommend a visit to this castle.

We love spending time here with our kids. They really enjoy the surroundings, the peacocks walking around, having a picnic, watching the bear, buying tasty sweets from chocolate factory, feeding the animals (we always bring carrots with us).
We've been here in all seasons, but best time for visiting the place is during spring when all flowers bloom. During summer its pretty crowded, but still worths, during autumn are the best landscapes.

Overall one of the nicest castles we visited - rich history and lots of things to see inside. You need to choose one out of four possible tours (10-15 EUR/person) based on your interest. I couldn't find a way to combine 2 or more together without spending whole day here. English speaking people can get an audio book for 2 EUR (no english tours available today). Payment by card is possible, online information about tours is not matching reality.

St Barbara's Cathedral, located in the Sedlec district of Kutna Hora, is a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. The cathedral is adorned with spiky spires, flying buttresses, and frescoes that add to its grandeur. It was constructed in 1388 and boasts five naves but was not completed until the early twentieth century due to construction delays caused by the declining productivity of the town's silver mines.
I love visiting churches when there are no priests and no preaching etc. This one is amazing!! Especially on a sunny afternoon ♡ From my whole trip to Kutna Hora, this was the highlight.

The cathedral was worth seeing although I think some of the comments about it being the most beautiful are not my opinion.
There are a lots of beautiful areas and you can climb the stairs to the top. There are some nice views and it’s interesting to see the irfan from the back - not what I would have pictured!
The grounds are nice to walk around or sit and have lunch.

Magnificent.
Feel so ancient yet strong holiness around.
It is amusing that the history of this great cathedral was from the working class, not the royal family! In this case was the mining worker in Kutná Hora centuries ago.
The interior was well kept with some fault to show how ancient it was.
It will be cheaper if you buy the ticket in a bundle with the Sedlec cathedral+kotsnice.

The Sedlec Ossuary is a small Gothic chapel decorated with garlands of human skulls and bones. It is also known as the Roman Catholic Cemetery Church of All Saints with the Ossuary, and it was built in 14th century AD as one of the earliest holy grounds in Central Europe.
While visiting Prague, Czech Republic we took the train to Kutná Hora to explore this unique church. The bones of people have been arranged as decorations and lamps. Piles of skulls are also stored there. #CulturalLandmarks_KutnaHora

Just amazing. Made out of human bones and skulls, this ossuary is a remarkable place to visit.
Remember, they do not allow photography inside now as stupid people have abused it as some kind of a haunted place on a social media.
You can either visit it first before entering the town or plan it at the end of the trip.

This is worth the trip from Prague. Very easy to get to by train! Make sure you buy your tickets from the information centre before heading up to the church as they don’t sell tickets at the church.
Although the church is full of bones it is not “creepy” in anyway but instead quite spiritual. There is no photography allowed.
There are guides you can hire from the town to give you a tour however the audio guide you can get inside the church along with the pamphlet is all you really need!
There are souvenirs at both the I go centre and in the church at reasonable prices and helps keep the church “alive” as they get no other funding!
The lady at the info center is super helpful!

My first recommendation is to buy a digital combination ticket online before you travel. The ticket is valid for up to a year, so you don't have to pick a date. They don't sell tickets at the ossuary, so if you have a digital ticket with you, you can just scan and go and don't have to make your way to the visitor centre 150 meters away.
If you like ossuaries, you'll love this one. It's definitely macabre, but so beautiful! Bones and skulls have been arranged into intricate sculptures and decorations, it's stunning to look at!
It's a rather small church, but if this kind of thing interests you, you'll have plenty to look at. It's currently under renovation, so parts of the church are blocked off with scaffolding and tarps, but it's still a stunning place to visit.
Very close to other sights in Kutna Hora, so absolutely worth the trip down.

You are not allowed to take pictures inside. You have to buy entrance tickets either online, or around the corner from up the street there is a store that sells entry tickets. This place has its own unique way to show you the darkness. I did remove one star, for the considerably over priced ticket for this small place. I've visited twice over the past year and it's an impressive sight and quite a unique place. Note that taking photos is no longer allowed.
The place is under renovation as they are cleaning/restoring some of the bone piles and there are support ls to keep the church safe.
In the season it can be really busy as busses full of tourists can be dropped in regular intervals. Buying the ticket online makes it easier to get it, and not wait at the ticket office, which is down the street.

A masterpiece of late 19th century landscape design in the English country style. It was the vision realized by Count Arnošt Emanuel Silva Tarouca, who wanted a poetic, natural landscape. It's a little sad when some dog owners let their dogs run loose and the result is somewhat unsavory. I would think it would be great if, for the sake of the community, everyone cleans up after themselves, and if the dog can't do it, the owner should, right?

Enjoyed this beautiful park with my friends. All had a great time. Lake with ducks, stunning castle.

This is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever visited. With very affordable ticket prices, we could enjoy the scenic landscape along with some impressive buildings. There is also a café in the area. A bus stop is very close to the park, making access very convenient. If you have a transport ticket for the Prague area, you only need to purchase an additional ticket of 20 CZK from the driver to go to this place. We visited the park during the fall, and the views were truly extraordinary.

Good park, well maintained, nice views, easy to get lost though! Careful! Dont go with annoying people, enough trash cans and benches around, only one cafe! So bring ur own snacks and dog

Surprised to pay for the park. The castle is very nice with the pound but overrated for the other viewpoints. It is a nice place to walk and get fresh air but I wish it would be for free

Beautiful park with castle just 20 minutes outside of Prague. You can go there by metro and bus. Stunning sceneries, flora and fauna throughout all of the year.
