How long is the drive from Rijeka to Split?
The direct drive from Rijeka to Split is 256 mi (412 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 54 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Rijeka to Split, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Plitvice Lakes National Park, Zadar, Trogir, and Sibenik, as well as top places to visit like Vrbnik and Baška, or the ever-popular Plaža Crikvenica.
The top cities between Rijeka and Split are Plitvice Lakes National Park, Zadar, Trogir, and Sibenik. Plitvice Lakes National Park is the most popular city on the route. It's 2 hours from Rijeka and 3 hours from Split.
For hikers, Plitvice Lakes National Park offers a variety of trails that wind through alpine forests and meadows, past sparkling lakes and waterfalls. The park also contains 16 freshwater lakes that are popular for rafting and kayaking. The park was the site of armed confrontation during Croatia's war of independence in the early 1990s, but has since been renovated as a source of economic wealth for the region. Today, visitors can explore hiking trails and enjoy beautiful natural scenery.
One of the most majestic places I have visited in my life, the winter landscape is beautiful, as well as the paths to walk for hours with a different landscape every 3 meters.
The waterfalls are incredible and it is a super good space to go with pets and be there for at least 3 or 4 hours touring the place.
The staff was very friendly

This is without a doubt the best place I have ever been. Nature is wonderful, here you can see its pure beauty. The place is fantastic, the staff is helpful, there are small restaurants, gift shops, restrooms in the park. The boat fee is included in the entrance fee. I recommend route C, which is not challenging, the total distance is eight kilometers, with a negligible elevation gain. Cool buses will take you back to the main entrance at the end of the visit. 5*

The lakes were simply fantastic, the price is worth the visit, but I recommend mixing up the paths. We were there when the park opened, after the tour and going back to the entrance area we were very glad we went at 7 am.. the place was crowded.. a lot of tourists really. I recommend going as early as you can, if you want to visit calmly and are not too fond of crowds.
Marina Perin — Google review
Absolutely Stunning creation of Nature!! The hike is beautiful and offers wonderful views. The park has 2 entrances and both entrances have 4 routes to choose from. We entered from entrance 2 and did route H which is quite similar to route C from entrance 1, it is almost 9kms and requires 4 - 6 hours. In the peak season, a ticket costs 40 Euro for an adult and it’s better to buy tickets in advance. Ticket price includes the bus and boat ride.
Trail is well maintained and has clear directions as per routes. It was a bit crowded due to summer vacation, so try going as early as possible in the morning.
Wear comfortable shoes, hiking shoes are recommended though. Carry enough water and some snacks, though you can also buy inside the park.
Definitely worth a visit!!

A very very beautiful national park. Worth visiting.
Better to go early in the morning or afternoon to see the water color as aqua blue/green. By evening since the sun starts setting in the west, it won't reflect on water and may miss the beauty of this magical place.
Trek route C or H is best as it covers both lower and upper lakes. There are beautiful waterfalls in the upper lakes. It will take a minimum of 6 hrs to cover this route.

It had poured down rain all night and morning, so I delayed entering the park until late morning. The guide suggested which trails to take for a good half-day excursion. I really don't think you can go wrong. So beautiful!

From the desk where you buy tickets through the park and back to the souvenir shop - great experience. Kind staff, positive energy.
All accommodation that is in the park is exquisite and great for welcoming guests for years to come.
Nature is splendid and breathtaking. We have treasure that we must preserve.
I'm always happy to come back here.
Andrea Ticic — Google review
I can imagine it gets crowded in the summer but on a rainy day in April is was empty, calm, misty and incredibly beautiful. The park itself is intelligently set up, with well-maintained paths and platforms that swirl in-between and right up to the waterfalls without clashing with the landscape. In fact, the park seems to be a model of how to organize such a site in ways which make it ecologically responsible, easily accessible for a lot of people, with well thought out branching paths, sufficient rest stops that are discreetly integrated in the setting and plenty of (silent) boats/shuttles.

It is a beautiful natural park. The views are just amazing! It has very colourful landscapes and lakes. It is definitely worth the visit and to spare a lot of time. Unfortunately I did not had the opportunity to camp for a longer time but now have seeing what I have there, I’d definitely think about staying more time in a next opportunity. I went as couple and during summer which is allegedly the best time to see the crystals on the water reflected by the sunlight.

Beautiful national park. There is a bus that goes directly from Zagreb to the park, it takes approximate 2hrs and 15 minutes . I strongly recommend to purchase the tickets online in advance. It is good to spend at least 6 hours walking around.
Vilma Vega — Google review
Wonderful park. We were lucky to find an amazing sunny weather after the heavy rain of the days before. I suggest to follow the H path from entrance 2. Come early in the morning (we enter at 9am) to fully enjoy the experience without annoying crowd.
Samuele De Gaetano — Google review
Spectacular! The park and the lakes are the Moseley amazing lakes I've ever seen. The color is unreal, the waterfall are stunning. The park is crowded, even early in the morning but very organized. Attention that you also need to pay for parking separately.
Yuval Mohl — Google review
Beautiful. There are several hike options but it can get very busy during the holiday season, even in early September. The trails are quite narrow and you could get held up if one person stops to take pictures.
The cafeterias within the National Park do not offer much choice, especially if you are a vegetarian.
Gopika Avanoor — Google review
I’d like to give this place 5 stars just based off its incredible beauty. But, the park has a bit of a bad design for being able to see it without being overcrowded, which the design and setup of the park causes. There’s basically one narrow boardwalk through the various levels of the lakes, which have no railing. So you really can’t stop anywhere and just take in the view or get pictures that aren’t horribly rushed. They also have a ferry system that appears to be badly overwhelmed with extremely long lines (we didn’t take it because of those lines). Other than that, this park is absolutely gorgeous. Crystal clear blue/green/turquoise waters everywhere. Many waterfalls and overflows and lush green trees. Just absolutely picturesque. But other than that boardwalk, there’s not really much else to see or do, no other trails or anything. There is also timed entry, so either purchase tickets beforehand, or be prepared to wait until the next time available. All in all, if you’re in Croatia, you should definitely go check out this park. Crowds notwithstanding, it’s still a pretty cool place and extremely beautiful.
Ashley Fountain — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We went here at winter time and the price for the entry was only 10 euro per person, kinds were free since they were 5 and 6. The beauty of the lake and waterfalls can not be described with words. We are looking forward to see it in all season.
Maja Goričanec Ordanić — Google review
The best, must-visit spot of Croatia. The landscapes this park offers are breathtaking. I recommend trail C, and if you have plenty of time, K seems like a great choice too.
Gyuvin K. — Google review
One of the most beautiful places on the earth!! Definitely recommended to take the maximum possible route. We took route C and 20k steps were worth it. Check the weather forecast before planning the visit. But it surely will be beautiful in all the seasons.

Great experience, absolutely wonderful and outstanding place. Set of lakes and waterfalls is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Must have to visit any season of the year.
Alex Oleksenko — Google review
Wonderful place for hikes and be in oneness with mother earth. Unbelievably serene and mind-blowing.
Upper lakes are less crowded and quiet while the lower ones are thriving with tourists. Plan your day and start early to enjoy the serenity of the park.
Raghunath N — Google review
I split the trip into two days - one day for the upper and one for the lower lakes. I highly recommend splitting it up. I also did the end of day and early day to avoid the crowds which was perfect. This is truly a magical place with just breathtaking scenery.
H. Rai — Google review
The most beautiful part is the first lake plus the overview of the waterfalls. The rest of the park is nice but for what it is, it's overpriced and overcrowded.
A lot of people are happy with just seeing the waterfalls so they could separate hikers from sightseers to fix some of the overcrowding.
David Oskarsson — Google review
This is one of those place that you must visit in Europe. The colour of lakes is just magical. You can choose 5 trails on different difficulty level and distance. You can go there with kids but I think that it could be dificult with stroller. On trails you can use a boat or buses (on some stages). There are a lot of stops with toilets and even fast food. On the stop next to the boats there is tap with a water that you can pour to bottle. From the cons: huge crowd. The amount of people is crazy there. The price - 40EUR per person - very expensive. Moreover you must pay for parking, too. It is not included in the ticket price to lakes. You must buy ticket in advance, tickets are sold for particular hours.
Agaatje Toffi — Google review
A must go if you're in Croatia. Pick the longest route, it's not a difficult stroll. There is a boat ride in the middle, but it is very smooth and relaxing. Experiencing the layers of this beautiful green-blue park is definitely and experience you won't forget. The longest route could take up to 6 hours, but if you're not taking your time you can easily complete it in 4 hours.
K L — Google review
This place is absolutely breathtaking! You need good shoes if you want to enjoy the longest route (K). I really recommend to start early in the morning because the park is extra full after 11!
You at least need to see this place once because it is ….spectacular!!!!!
Roxana Jangaene — Google review
The best natural park ever, the water color is absolutely amazing. Very very very nice. we did everything in one day but i wish we had the time to spend two days at least.
Vincent ROGER — Google review
Amazing landscape. A few hours drive out of Zagreb and worth the effort. To truly appreciate this national park, you should spend one or 2 nights to complete the longer hikes. Hiking routes are well sign posted. Park entry is €10 per person.
Highly recommended

We bought tickets online and all went perfectly even if it was crowded but still I really like walking and enjoying nature and taking pictures.
Everyone should visit Plitivice at least once in life. It's one of the most beautiful National Parks I have ever seen.
I will visit again.
Vedrana Šuković — Google review
Loved my visit to this national park with its lakes, waterfalls and woodland hills.
Free parking at this time of the year (early march) for my motorhome. The facilities are great for coffee and food. There is a boat ride or you can walk, I took the boat but walked back. The sun was out so made the scenery extra special. The lakes and various waterfalls are impressive. There are nice pathways and clear signs. Everything was brilliant, highly recommend. I will be back.
Richard Attoe — Google review
A must visit paradise in Croatia and one could easily get lost for half a day to a couple of days depending on the interest. At least half a day in a rush to get a taste of paradise is a must.
There are 2 entrances with a good number of parking places which seemed not crowded during October maybe in season it could be packed. Entrance tickets and parking was way below what I expected for this gem of nature. During the season it is a different price but worth paying. I do not understand why some reviewers complain about the price when it is so much of a treasure.
Overall the park is well maintained with good hiking trails, clean restrooms and good cafes and restaurants.
The park can get crowded but as a sensible tourist one has to plan and not blame the crowds on the park. The boardwalks can be packed with tourists hanging to take pics and not respecting others, just be mindful of this crowd
We parked at the first entrance and did the long trail - K which includes the boat ride and option to take the shuttle back to the parking lot. The trail starts off at the lower lakes with views of the amazing waterfalls before heading through the various trails, boardwalks and then the upper lakes.
If time permits I would recommend adding another trail to enjoy more of the views.
Near entrance 1 there is a really good restaurant for an amazing lunch or dinner. The day we visited it was not crowded and we were able to enjoy a peaceful lunch.
Overall a must visit park for all seasons.
Pradeep Ponnuswamy — Google review
Most beautiful waterfalls I have seen anywhere. Absolutely stunning. We did the full loop over the lower and upper lakes and it was about 12 miles. It took us 5 or so hours total with a stop for lunch.
We did this in March so the crowds were easy to handle. Particularly away from the two different entrances.
Diego Salas — Google review
Magical place. Makes you stop in owe and wonder.
The trick is to visit in low season (we went in April) and arrive early (we took the first boat from entrance 2 @8.30 and were the only people on it!). Then as we walked there was almost no one there and so it felt as if we had the whole park to ourselves.
Marta Walters — Google review
The park is amazing. Well worth the trip even in the off season. We visited in late March and there was hardly anyone here. The park was really beautiful, even though the trees had not leafed out yet. We spent two days in the park and we were glad we had the second day.
Corey Reimer — Google review
Definitively over crowded (also in March) but a must-see when in Croatia! The upper lakes are more beautiful than the lower ones, so pay attention when they are accessible as they are closed in winter. Alltogether something for your bucket list like the Grand Canyon or the Eiffel Tower.

We spent a pleasant time under this Spring-like temperature, soaking up the sun and enjoying blue skies, especially now that it is not crowded as during summer. Kids are enjoying their fun park.

Wonderful and beautifully landscaped beach. It is covered with tiny pebbles. The sea is clean. There is a lot of shadows on the beach. There is also a city beach with a sand, but it is payable. There are many restaurants with good food and lots of bars and souvenir shops. Is very suitable for families with small children. On the beach is also a wonderful playground.

Very nice beach with mixed sand and rocks. The best thing is, that after you enter the sea through rocks, there is bug area of pure sand you can stand on, that is perfect for playing games inside the water.

It's a city beach, but a nice one, coverd with sand and pebbles. There are chairs in one side, but you can also lay your towel or beach tent. There are nice playgrounds. To avoid the stones from the shore, you can get into the sea on the pier. There is also an elevator for the ones with disabilities.

Very nice view. Island Rab had one of my best holiday ever.
Little crowded, I prefer for example Beach Sahara.

Beautiful sandy beach in the island of Rab, infront is a small island that you can cross with a bike boat. There you can do some snorkeling with your sport camera 📸
The difference between Jesolo Italy and Lopar, the people in Lopar is not so friendly. The restaurant waitresses are friendly, but the little stores who selling swimming products; they never smile, they never want to ingage ( connect ) with the customers. Unfortune I think, they supposed to attract more tourists, but their behaviour I feel it "not polite".
Do I want to go back to Lopar?
Yes, I think besides that the stores owner or supermarket not friendly; Lopar is very beautiful ❤️ the food is good 👍
PS : The chairs and umbrella 🏖️ cost €19,50. You come to the beach, choose which one that you like to sit. Later on come a guy with little machine, you pay him, you'll get a receipt 🧾

The Nehaj Fortress, constructed in 1558, is now a museum and hosts an annual medieval festival. Positioned on a hilltop, it offers a scenic view of the city and sea. The castle boasts well-preserved original geometry that can be admired from outside as well as within its walls. A restaurant and parking facilities are conveniently located near the fortress. Visitors can enjoy walks along its paths despite dogs usually not being allowed inside such buildings.
Beautiful view of the city and the sea.
When we went there the land was dry and the wind was so strong that it blew gravel at us.
The wind literally chased us, as it was so stormy we couldn’t get to the side where the door was.
The castle from outside is well preserved in its (I guess) original geometry.

Worthy to enter if you are in Senj, but I would not recommend driving more than 30minutes to get here if you plan it from nearby towns. There is a nice view but nothing more than that.

Closed unfortunately when I visited in February, but it has stunning views of Senj and Krk island. So its worth visiting just for that. The castle is in decent shape. Can park at the top.
Paul Heller — Google review
We spent some hours around the fortress in early September 2021.
It definitely offers a lovely view from the hill and a restaurant as well as parking spots right beside Nehaj. We didn't go inside the fortress, because we had our dog with us (usually they're not allowed in such buildings, but we can't say for sure for Nehaj), but walking the paths around the fortress also was time well spent.

Definitely worth a visit if you are heading to Senj. The fortress is very well maintained, given it's almost 500 years old and the military artifacts on display inside are well presented and documented. Great views too over Senj and the neighbouring islands from the roof viewing areas.

Nice old fortress located above Senj. The view is amazing. There is a parking lot. In the fortress is a museum which can be accessed for a small fee.

Great place to visit and have a lunch at. Really significant historical location for Croatia that is well explained and beautifully presented inside the fortress. A must in my opinion if you are in that region. Of course, the view from the top is amazing and there is a well equipped children playground some 100m from the fortress.

Good place for a short walk, you can park right next to it, i couldn't find the road though. You can see what women and men wore back in the day, some really nice guns, they even have old necklaces, rings, swords ex. The only thing that bothers me is that they made it like restaurant which is kind of not really what's supposed to be. The ice cream is good though.

Nicely reconstructed fortress, with great view. Free parking just next to it (around it), though easily reachable on foot from marina. On the ground floor there is also coffee place and restaurant (took pictures of the menu, but did not eat there). Entry to the fortress only paid with cash, in the restaurant possible with card also.

It is a very nice and educational place, where you can learn about the history of Senj. You can go on top of the fortress and enjoy the view. There is a restaurant and it's not expensive. There are a lot of walking paths around the fortress and one of them leads to the kids playground.

Really nice and well rebuilt castle with a great view at Senj and the Bay Area.
Also the included Museum give a lot and interesting information about the past and the former “pirate” owners of the castle.
It’s worth the €5 per person.

Senj’s landmark that can be seen from far away driving towards the town. There is sufficient parking right next to it (gravel, can ve quite dusty). You can find a restaurant here (Konoba Tvrdava Nehaj) that is open everyday from 10:00-24:00. There is lots of tables outside with shade, but it’s still very hot during the day. Entry to the castle is 5 eur for adults, 2 eur for children, 10 eur for families. Nice views as well. Definitelly check it out if driving through.
Nestled in the northern Velebit mountains, Bear Sanctuary, Kuterevo is a haven for orphaned bears undergoing rehabilitation. The sanctuary, sustained by donations for over 20 years, offers a hippy commune vibe and ample free parking. Visitors can observe nine well-cared-for bears in spacious enclosures while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the small village. Run entirely by volunteers, the sanctuary provides educational information and offers locally made products like jam, honey, cheese, and vegetables.
Phenomenal experience. Be patient with the tiny roads with limited passing places and you’ll be rewarded with quaint villages entire to this sanctuary. All the bears here have been rescued and span a variety of ages. Run entirely by volunteers a donation to their cause is very welcome. There are no toilets here (there are compost ones only available for the volunteers which you can’t use) so be prepared. Parking is plentiful. An experience we won’t forget.
Matthew Douglas — Google review
Came back to the bear refuge after visiting earlier in the week, but on that occasion we didn't manage to them, partly as it was around the hottest time of the day when the bears try to stay out of the sun and keep cool. This time we went back in the evening and managed to see all 5 bears, which was a great experience. For the best chance to see them, aim to arrive early to mid morning or after 6pm.

Beautiful place to visit. You can talk to volunteers there and find out more about the bears who live there. And you can also volunteer here. The sanctuary is free to visit. What a beautiful place with the most lovely volunteers who help explain everything you need to know about the rescued bears before you start your tour around the bear park. It's most definitely worth a visit. I was totally transfixed with these amazing animals! Make sure to leave a donation, or buy some gifts from the volunteers' gift shop. It's all for a good cause.

Beautiful place where the bears can be seen from very small distance. There are some other domestic animals to be seen at the parking (hens, ducks, roosters, ducklings, etc.). You pay for your visit at the end and you can also buy some souvenirs there (necklaces, key rings and so on).

Humble appearance but with a noble idea in the background. An attempt at a self-sustaining practice through donations and volunteers, and free entry for all visitors. This is not a zoo, but a refuge for bears who have been given help and a new chance at life. It's been working like this for years. The influence of volunteers from different countries is visible all around. A noble and humane idea that came to life.

Whilst travelling around Croatia, we came across the Bear Sanctuary after finding positive reviews.
It's tucked away in a small village. Plenty of free parking.
The Sanctuary has a nice hippy commune feel about it, surviving around 20 years on donations only. The 9 bears appear well in reasonable sized compounds and amazing to watch and see - the kids loved it, parents too.
My only suggestion would be to make the donations jar a bit prominent. I had to hunt it down to donate.

Place to visit if you want to observe the brown bears from close. It is a free entrance huge attraction and this is an extraordinary condition in Croatian touristic range.
The place where to learn from great people about problems and possible solutions that bears community have to face to survive and continue to exist in Europe.
Sheltered beach amid rocky terrain, with a mix of sand & pebbles, clear water & a low-key cafe.
We were here over a decade ago and have returned every time, enchanted by this beautiful place. Unfortunately, it must be said that recent years, especially during the holiday season, have brought a real influx of tourists. This is evident by the expanding size of parking lots and new restaurants popping up a stone's throw from the beach. Still, this beach is simply amazing. You can start trekking to several less crowded nearby beaches or take a taxi boat. A beautiful Martian atmosphere. The quintessence of Pag Island.

Lovely beach on the island of Pag, which we visited during our stay.
This beach is only accessible via a small and narrow dirt road (about 3km long), and there are some parking spots available.
There is a shady bistro on the right sight and public toilets.
Regrettably, we were very much put off due to the amount of rubbish and cigarette buds left behind.
There are garbage containers available. However, they were overflowing.

Nice beach with great views. Gravel and small pebbles, no shade. Small beach bar (serves fast food and beverages). Don't trust these photos - beach is usually crowded as many people outside of Metajna are coming here too, uphill parking gets full quickly (there's another one on opposite side of the beach).
Four stars as I had bad experience with kayaking people who didn't care about others and put their stuff between the people and... Cig buds and trash buried between pebbles on the beach.

It was a bit cloudy And very much windy in that area but i preferred the whole beach somehow. But theres no bar or sunbeds&umbrella so take food And drink with you

The beach is wonderful, the water is crystal clear. Very beautiful and worth a visit. Beautiful views, relaxation and disconnection from everything. The beach does not have any shade so I recommend an umbrella or any kind of sun protection. The beach is accessible by car, the road is macadam at the end and a bit narrower.

Beach is ok, bar is ok. It was quite windy when we were here, so the umbrellas had a hard time doing their job. But I would not call the road here ‘road’. After route 106 it is only a path of potholes and rocks. In some rare places traces of asphalt could be found. Only wide enough for one car, so have fun driving here. I saw somebody who had to change to a spare tire.

Very nice beach, not crowded. Easily accessible, parking lot is near. No shadow, no trees, bring some shelter or come in the evening. However if you arrive early, you can enjoy it alone. The crystal clear water👌🏻 nice views. Loved it.

Pretty hard to get to if you don't have a car, but really recommend this beach if you do! Amazing place, has this very nice vibe to it. There's this mountain next to it which is not a super hard hike and opens up a great view of the valley below.

Beautiful beach, the surrounding environment is very uncommon
Rastoke, situated in the Town of Slunj, is a charming village renowned for its picturesque setting along the Slunjčica River, where it converges with the Korana River. Often likened to the natural wonders of Plitvice Lakes, Rastoke offers similar captivating phenomena. Unlike heavily Instagrammed locations, Rastoke remains a hidden gem devoid of long queues and influencer photo shoots.
Great Waterfall, also known as Veliki Slap, is a stunning natural wonder located within a national park in Croatia. Standing at an impressive 78 meters tall, it is the highest waterfall in the country and offers breathtaking views. The surrounding area features picturesque picnicking spots and a viewing platform to take in the beauty of the cascading water. Visitors can also explore the Sastavci waterfalls, which create a dramatic scene as they appear to be an extension of Great Waterfall.
A gorgeous national park. The water is so beautiful and the falls are stunning. Really nice walking trails, well sign posted and the routes are well set up. It gets a bit busy at points but otherwise it's a lovely experience.

This Great Waterfall is indeed great and with 87m the highest in Croatia. There is a wide observation area in front of the waterfall which you can reach by foot via a wooden pathway. The shortest distance is from entrance 1 (north)
It's probably best to visit in spring or autumn when it's not so crowded and there is more water from rainfall

Who would have thought that this location would be so charming in the silence of the winter?
I think visiting this place in December was the finest choice, even though it was an impromptu trip..
So serene, a bit icy..
and how pleasant it was to meet other incredibly kind people who had travelled from all over the world to be there at this strange hour :)

Incredibly beautiful waterfall. It is absolutely worth the walk. We took the F route to get there. Totally recommended; it includes a bit of everything, walking, boat ride and great view of the whole park during the last part.

We were there in September, hoping for good weather but it wasn't the case, too bad.
The silver line being that the place wasn't overcrowded as it seems to be usually (at least according to the many reviews).
This is an impressive waterfall, great as its names indicates (close to 90m height) and definitely a highlight of this famous park.

Nice. But 24 euros is just too much when the most beautiful paths and main attractions are closed due to construction work! 😒

Impressive waterfall right at the entrance of the national park. If you start your hike here, you have the opportunity to visit the waterfall twice. The viewpoint and the way there is understandably very crowded.

It,s a place everyone should put on a bucket list. Photos can't show its true beauty and size. Countless waterfalls and lakes you can admire walking on wooden paths build directly on the lakes!! This amazing wonder of nature surely deserves to be on UNESCO list.

All in one, pure nature, wild animal life, and unforgettable experience. Excellent walking and hiking paths all across the park. Resting spots for coffee or small food breaks are also located inside the park area. Recommend at least 5 hours of stay to view and enjoy most of it, preferably in the springtime when it's not too crowded.

Veliki Slap at Plitvice Lakes is a truly remarkable waterfall. Surprisingly, the best vantage point to admire its beauty is actually outside the national park. The view from this spot allows you to truly appreciate the grandeur of the waterfall. For an even more enchanting experience, I recommend visiting early in the morning before the crowds arrive. The tranquility and lack of rush enhance the magic of the place. Veliki Slap is a natural wonder that leaves you in awe, and with the right timing and perspective, it becomes an unforgettable memory that captures the essence of Plitvice Lakes' beauty.

If you are looking for a quiet place in Plitvice, this is the best place.
The accommodation is approx. 400-500 meters from the unofficial entrance to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. However, you can only use this entrance with a valid ticket, which you must purchase in advance (24 hours) on the Plitvice Lakes website.

Beautiful place, peaceful in the forest, owner is very nice.

Spectacular! The park and the lakes are the Moseley amazing lakes I've ever seen. The color is unreal, the waterfall are stunning. The park is crowded, even early in the morning but very organized. Attention that you also need to pay for parking separately.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We went here at winter time and the price for the entry was only 10 euro per person, kinds were free since they were 5 and 6. The beauty of the lake and waterfalls can not be described with words. We are looking forward to see it in all season.

The park is amazing. Well worth the trip even in the off season. We visited in late March and there was hardly anyone here. The park was really beautiful, even though the trees had not leafed out yet. We spent two days in the park and we were glad we had the second day.

Definitively over crowded (also in March) but a must-see when in Croatia! The upper lakes are more beautiful than the lower ones, so pay attention when they are accessible as they are closed in winter. Alltogether something for your bucket list like the Grand Canyon or the Eiffel Tower.

Delightful little rest stop & memorial for someone who is arguably the world’s greatest inventor (the timeline exhibit here is a very informative summary of Tesla’s accomplishments and near-accomplishments). Serene natural setting. It’s a humble site, so don’t expect too many bells and whistles. But I think his story becomes that much more poignant when you see what simple surroundings he came from. Very good, informative and creative museum of this genius man. I really liked all of the building where he lived, the amazing experiment of one of his inventions (shown every hour), the documentary and how it is exposed. The information places the life and inventions of Tesla in the history and other big events, it is done very good and interesting. Also there are drawers which give you insight in what Tesla said or others said about him, which helps you to understand him. Birth place of genius. It is interesting and combination of modern and old in nice old village. I liked exhibition in house but was expecting more from the light show with electricity. This is definitely place to visit when in Lika and autumn is perfect time of year as colors are amazing.
A circular tourist attraction made of solar panels that displays a vibrant light show at night, The Greeting to the Sun is located on the Riva promenad in Venice. Designed by Nikola Bas c, this eccentric tourist attraction attracts tons of people every evening during summer.
This place is beautiful. You can see all the planets in our solar system in the form of solar planels on the ground. The sunset is all this is about. It is awesome but even better in summer. There is also the sea organ that sounds relaxing and definitely should be heard. The sound of nature! Overall it is a lovely place and i definitely recommend coming!

The Greeting to the Sun is a light installation designed by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić. The work has been there since 2008 and is charged by the sun during the day to provide the square with a light show at night.
The 22 diameter circle consists of 300 glass plates. These are placed in the boulevard so you can just walk over them. Under the glass plates are solar panels and LED where a light show is programmed.
The installation symbolizes communication with nature.
It is a very cool idea of large scale. Only I found the light show programmed into it a bit too chaotic. It could have been a little quieter for me but if you head there in the morning or late at night it would be quieter.
Very cool to see though and definitely a must see if you are in Zadar.

What a great vibe! Everyone having a good time, great energy, live performers and one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
The huge solar panel floor which makes amazing light shows at night is one of the most impressive things I have seen. The sound of the Sea Organ can be heard when it's less crowded there, which gives an amazing sound and visual experience.
Matheus De Paula — Google review
Honestly it's worth the wait. This pops on at sundown every night, and lasts for an unknown amount of time. The batteries are solar charged, so the sunnier it's been the brighter and longer the show goes on.
Honestly it's a fantastic way to end a day. Be wary tho, you can step on this just fine but it is absolutely lethal terrain if it's wet.
The Wizard (Archea) — Google review
This place is amazing. Unfortunately I could not catch the sunset because I was too tire sleeping but still check it out in the night. It’s on a low land near the sea. It’s not really big but quite normal. Lights up during the night and it’s not rhythmic but the lights changes colors and moves randomly.
You’ll often find kids playing and people drinking near by.
Good for photos and you see the city lighted up in the night from this place!

This is a wonderful visit in the night. It’s a monument in celebration of Sun. It consists of three hundred, multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level as the stone-paved waterfront. Beside the main (Sun) installation, looking from the west side are similar smaller installations representing the planets of the Solar System. The sizes are proportionate real size compared to the sun , but the distance are scaled down . Overall it would be an amazing visit in old town Zadar

Lovely spot for evenings. You’ll find yourself in a huge crowd of people, a mix of locals and tourists. I loved how people just waited patiently for the lights to come on, and almost nobody would step inside before that. It’s almost like a ritual. I thought that was awesome.
My advice? When the light is on, step in and let go of your inhibition, just dance!🎉

We came here to watch the sunset. I loved watching all of the happy people celebrating one of favorite moments of the day which is the sunset. There’s something magical about the golden hour. I loved this art installation and what it holds in a symbolic meaning

A magic place in old town! I recommend to visit this place during sunset. We were here in October 2023 and there weren’t many people. We could see beautiful flashing colors with a stunning sunset. Especially this place is suitable for dancing. Entry is free.

Gorgeous view at sunset . Lights looks beautiful in the evening. And on top of all that there was a saxophone player, which crowned the experience .🥰 Definitely a place worth experiencing 😍

A really interesting part of zadar. The solar system display is an ingenious idea that gets people out of the main city and looking off the end of the port. After sunset the ‘sun’ ( a circular solar panel embedded into the ground) lights up in beautiful displays. Very nice place to walk and also a very good meeting point for tours or to meet up if lost.
Zadars Sea Organ is a beautiful and innovative tourist attraction that creates music with the waves. The installation is set within steps that descend into the sea, and under each platform is a tube that creates a musical note. The sound of the waves breaking against the shore is enchanting and relaxing, and you can swim from the steps while listening to the sounds.
Beautiful. Just have to see it. Beautiful view; where is claimed even Orson Welles proclaimed world’s most beautiful Sunset. During the sunny days, looking at the see and nearby Islands on the other side of the bay, while Sun is caressing your skin your ears will drown with the beautiful, gentle sounds of Sea Organs. Pure magical, meditational moment

Free of charge experience with a stunning sunset. You don't need to buy a ticket to experience the Sea Organ.
The kids often swim in the area, which is so nice.
The sound experience is excellent and highly recommended. The best time to arrive during summer is maximum at 20:15, so you can enjoy the sunset finishing at 20:30.

Fascinating to hear the sounds of this sea organ. We visited on a very windy day with lots of waves... I don't know how the sounds change depending on these conditions but would love to return on a day with different weather conditions.

loved the idea of the sea organ. It was nice to hear and the promenade was beautiful. Also plenty of seats available so you can just sit there and relax.
After sundown there were also these LED lights where you can take a nice and unique picture.

I recommend going at sunset, you won’t regret it. We went in February so it was not crowded, and we also got to enjoy the salutation to the sun, which is the attraction next to the sea organ. It only lights up at night. We went back to the Sea Organ in the morning and it was empty ☺️

Beautiful area that you must go and see both during the day (when it’s fairly quiet) and at night when the sun is setting. The sea organ itself was installed in 2005 on the edges of the promenade and the music is created by the waves hitting it. So lovely to listen to the chords created by nature. Such a cool concept and such a peaceful beautiful area.
When we visited in late June the water was calm so the sounds were gentle and it is lovely to sit on the edge of the promenade and just listen to the sounds. Would love to hear the louder notes when the waves are bigger.
The views at night especially on a clear night of the sun setting are spectacular and great for photos. Lots of passing boats make your photos more interesting.
This area is so nice we walked out of our way every day we stayed to visit here.
Sue Vogt-Skard — Google review
An incredibly calming and serene experience, where I could truly appreciate the mesmerizing beauty of the sea and the surroundings. It felt as if the gentle waves were whispering back, creating a harmonious connection with nature. This place exuded an air of romance, making it an ideal destination to visit with a significant other or to embark on a soulful journey alone.
However, I do wish there were fewer people around, as it would have enhanced the sense of tranquility and allowed for a more intimate experience with the natural wonders. Do yourself a favor and stay until sunset; it was undeniably the most exquisite sunset I have ever witnessed in my life.
This place is undoubtedly worth a visit when you find yourself in the vicinity of Zadar. Its captivating charm and the way it makes you feel one with the sea are unforgettable.

Beautiful! This was one of things i really wanted to see in Croatia and it did not disappoint.
Such a unique piece, this is a must see.
The Sea organ is an architectural sound art object located in Zadar, Croatia and an experimental musical instrument, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps.
Similar to the Wave Organ in San Francisco, California, and the High Tide Organ in Blackpool, England, the instrument consists of a series of 35 tubes and a large resonating cavity, which is played by the wind and the sea. The organ’s music is eerily reminiscent of the melancholy sound of whale calls.
The Sea Organ was designed by architect Nikola Bašić and completed in 2005.
Just behind it is another art installation he created — the Sun Salutation — which has an ethereal pattern of glass panels that capture sunlight to power their own light show that is a tribute to the solar system.

This piece of architecture is a simple idea that is actually so clever. It involves no electricity or mechanics just the waves and several pipes. But as the waves get choppier and flow against the steps it makes music from pipes located under the steps. It is a fabulous place to sit and look into the beautiful sea, listen to the sounds and admire the atmosphere and sunshine. Lovely walk too !! This and the sun installation get people out of the city centre and walking out to the edge of the docks.

Luxury nigh walk around the city walls, ending at sunset spot with crazy colourfů´ ground effect, you must visite this place to be recognizable how spectacular is it. Sounds of sea splashing inside the stairs is just breathtaking. We really enjoy this place and sleepover in our van. Amazing nice city at all. We will come back again….once, maybe twice or more? 😜

This is my favorite place in ALL of Croatia.
Sitting by the beach, hearing the waves make melodies in the sea organ is so surreal. It’s out of this world.
I’ve seen many sunsets around the world, and this one is one of the best places in the world for it. I feel like everyone should at least visit Zadar and see the sunset at least once in their lives.

The place is very nice, in front of the see, the sounds are like sea siren and is very relaxing in the evening when is dark and the lights are lighting is incredible and very fun especially with a kids.
Dian Dimitrov — Google review
The sea organ is an amazing little contraption. Build directly into the stone, these steps produce sounds as the waves lap over the slots. You'd think during a storm would be the best time to hear this, but honestly it's alot better on just a slightly windy day!
The sounds it makes during a proper storm surge are akin to a spooky alien invasion.
The Wizard (Archea) — Google review
The 'organ' wasn't as impressive as I originally thought it would be. But still an amazing experience. Good place to sit and chill out, dip your feet or go for a swim to cool down. The stairs are a tad slippery though so be careful, we saw a lady step down she slipped landed on her behind and waves took her shoe.... lost forever.
It's the perfect place to watch the sunset aswell although it does get pretty busy. We preferred sitting further up the promenade.
diane Thompson — Google review
It’s pretty cool. Recommend going at night or early in the morning as the crowds get ridiculous (especially in the high season, and especially around sunset).
Is it the most fabulous thing to see in Croatia? No, but it is definitely interesting and worthwhile to see.

It is created on the public promenade of the beach of Zadar. It is a most relaxing experience to sit on the promenade steps, hear the melodious sound of the sea organ and watch the sun set.

The Church of St. Donatus is an important landmark in the city of Zadar and is well worth visiting for its simple yet beautiful architecture. The church dates back to the 9th century and is one of the best preserved pre-Romanesque churches in the world. It now hosts some scintillating classical concerts as well as some fine exhibitions.
This church is located in the center of Zadar next to the Roman forum. The structure is very impressive and photogenic from outside and inside. It costs 20hrk to enter and it's worth it. The interiors are stark but interesting to see. You can climb to an upper level

A must visit place while in Zadar. Beautiful ruins/old church in the old town of Zadar. The place is nice to visit and take pictures. At sunset, the view is really nice. There are shops and restaurants nearby. It’s a walking distance from the old town entrance. Visit this place many times while is Zadar. It’s nearby the port too.

One of the oldest, if not the oldest church in Zadar. It is no longer used as a place of worship, instead it is now a museum and a space for concerts due to its acoustics. Entry is 30 Kuna but there is not much to see inside. Very plain interior with arches and columns serving as the only decoration. Repurposed Roman fragments of columns and stonework is plainly visible, especially on the street level.

I can say, that I was sceptical to these church and tower. It was related to next church which look same to each other that we can meet in Croatia. But... views from top of the tower was absolutely fascinating. If you are in old city in Zadar, you have to being there. 15 hrk is a good invest.

Beautiful old church in the centre of Old Town Zadar. It is located next to the Roman Forum. It is possible to go up the tower for 20 Kuna and have a spectacular view over the bay and Zadar itself. The church may be a little bit crowded during sunny days but it is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in classical architecture.

This is one of the places that you must visit if you come to zadar.
Walking to the top of the tower you will have another perspective from the town and islands and the visit is beautiful.
Not so easy to go up, specially because of the width of the steps and door to access outside.
I do not recommend for people with mobility issues, or low pressure at least during summer/hot weather or when it is busy.
The price was about 1.50£, and maybe 30 mint will be enought to visit.
For the church is again about 1.50£, and it interesting to visit. They have the turistic paper in diferent languages ( including portuguese what is not so usually here).
Nice and cold 🤣 so if you are getting boilded in zadar and no where to go, or if you are looking for a quiet place you can go there and have a quiet moment inside.

With the sunny weather, this place describes Croatia at its best. In addition, a lot of cultural public events are happening nearby, on Romanum Forum, so the the atmosphere is truly powerful.
In the summer, the chapel itself and the square can be quite crowded so I advise coming either on off-peak hours or outside of the peak season to avion crowds:))

Great place it like going back in time. To stand in such a landmark is exciting when knowing that you are in the footsteps of the Romans.
The Land Gate in Zadar is a must-see attraction for visitors to the old town area. This iconic landmark, dating back to the 16th century, was constructed by the Venetians as part of the city's fortifications against potential invaders. The gate is adorned with intricate Dalmatian Renaissance-style decorations, including depictions of St. Crysogonus and the lion of St. Mark.

Paklenica National Park, spanning 95 sq km of the Velebit Range in Croatia, is a protected mountain forest that attracts climbers and mountaineers with its two peaks exceeding 1,700m. The park boasts breathtaking scenery with deep gorges - Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica - cutting through the mountain range like giant hatchet marks.
A wonderful national park not far from Zadar (around 40 minutes by car). Comparing to the other national parks, Paklenica shines with a reasonable price and excellent views, along with a variety of hiking routes for beginners, advanced and "experts". The app allowed has pre marked routes that you can easily follow. We had a wonderful time at Paklenica and would definitely recommend it.

Perfect place for touristic hiking, light and also harder, several hats with buffets for stopover. Crystal clear water, impressive limestone rocks in the canyon and around, marvellous sceneries. Climbing fans find here also plentiful possibilities, and they indeed do. And it is open the whole year long! Good for coming with children too, also elderly people can find suitable pathways. Winnetou and Old Shatterhand on your mind here all the day long.

It was a wonderful hike although me and my boyfriend we didn’t even have proper hiking shoes, we enjoyed the smooth path and the embracing of nature. We are always a nature fan, this park brought us many great views. The cave was closed when we were there, but along the road we were lucky to see some wild goats. That was fantastic!

Thunderstorms, low lying cloud and torrential rain on my visit to Paklenica but it was still an amazing experience. Walking solo on a first visit I kept to the main path up to the fascinating cave system and it was definitely worth the hike up. It’s a steep climb and a lot of stunning views from exposed positions but a number of families with young children were going up and down so it’s accessible. (Wet stones in the rain made the descent a bit harder).
The tour of the caves last about 20-30m but when I was there the tours were only run during the morning. The guides have to hike up themselves and then back. Cash only at the cafe entrance.
The water flowing down from the peaks is channelled to provide a natural water cooler to fill your bottles part way up and there are toilets and a small souvenir shop when you first enter the park.

Nice park to do some hiking. Make sure to take the second entrance coming from the highway. You have to pay entrance and then drive a bit further by car. We did the ABC route (a bit confusing initially since depending on which map all is called differently), it took us around 3 hours (they say 4 hours). It's an easy hike. Enjoy!

Great place for hiking. We took the A-B-C route from entrance 1 and it took us about 4-5 hours in total. There are other routes too (see attached).
Plenty of shade all over the route and couple of springs to drink refreshing water. It's not too steep but more like gradual increase in elevation. There is a hut and couple of restaurants at the end of route. For students there is discount in entry ticket price.
Erkin Najafli — Google review
This one is a must do for everybody, who still remembers the old Winnetou and Old Shatterhand movies. Many scenes from those movies have been shot right here.
Put that aside and you still have a national park of enormous proportions, not quite for its sheer size but for its unique mountainous landscape that might not be found anywhere else in this world!
This place is a paradise for climbers and mountaineers, but every ambitious hiker will also get their money's worth, as this park has more than 200km of trails to offer, in all kinds of ruggedness, many of them barely suited well enough for mules. But every single turn on one of those serpentines will open up another picture frame that just blows one's mind.
That said you need time to explore even one of the preset routes, as they almost all are twisting up to one of the many high points in this area, leaving you with the task of covering up to almost a kilometer in height while loading your legs with many more of those in length. And every single step is worth it.
If you're lucky you might see wild mountain goats, as if the awesome landscape alone wasn't enough.
Youcn need a serious amount of fitness if you want to tackle one of the longer routes (you'll find many route suggestions on komoot for example...) and above all, really good shoes! This is, after all, a mountain range for real.
You'll also need to check the weather, because everything here is possible from serious thunderstorms to excruciating heat. The whole region of Dalmatia has a warm and mediterranean climate with lots and lots of sun hours (approx. 7hrs/day in average!) and when you get yourself up to one of these incredible peaks there's nothing left to cast any shadow, meaning you need to carry everything that might spend some protection from the sun with you.
If you're in for climbing you'll find a garden of preset routes of all kinds of difficulty levels here, just bring your equipment and your buddies along and get started!
If you want to show your kids how amazing climbing can be, you'll easily find routes for that too, as the lowest ranking grade I've seen was a 3. And there are plenty of those. And if you're up for a way bigger challenge then look no further as some of these routes are really asking for highly trained climbing skills.
So climbing or hiking: you can, and should, spend a whole day here and get back home with lots of memories you'll never forget. Coming here in summer one of those will certainly be the absolutely impressive sound of millions of cicadas...
Christian Zarth — Google review

Beautiful Nature from the start. First hill is filled with slippery rocks so be aware, but then it's continue with normal track with small and big rocks. Routes are poorly marked, so you don't really know how high are you or where, but there are some. But you can't lose of your track so don't worry. Bring bottles because there is drinkable water source and good shoes. It's really worth visit :)

Beach Slanica is the main beach of Murter, a popular vacation island known for its breathtaking beauty and shallow sandy shores, making it a hit with families. The turquoise blue sea is stunning and perfect for swimming. Located on the southern side of the island, it offers various amenities and entertainment programs. Despite being less crowded due to current circumstances, it remains an ideal spot for families with kids as well as older visitors.
Gravel and sand beach! Best in preseason when it’s not too crowded. Many bars around beach.

Nice sandy beach with lot of beach bars and restorants, but if you prefer more quiet place with less people, this is not the right place for you, because it's always crowded
Lucia — Google review
Small beach with pebbles, the place was beyond full.
We had a great time staying on the side of the beach, there are flat rocks that allow for sun bathing.
Water is clean right off the rocks and many fish can be seen.

A small stretch of coast
Close to camping and holiday cabins. Wonderful to go in only on the beach, rocky in the water, pleasant sand, glass clear. The beach should be cleaned better, it's a shame that people treat such a beautiful piece of earth directly by small snack bars and restaurants. The water slide was in operation. Since it is very small, it is very crowded even though it is not yet high season. Many Germans. We really liked it.

I was so looking forward to this beach. I only know him from videos and pictures. Unfortunately I was so disappointed. Unfortunately, the beach section is actually not that nice. The water is dirty too. Probably because of the large yachts that are anchored there. It's a shame that no one from the community cares about it. It's probably just about making money.

Crowded in first week of September? Of course 😅 But the clearest water I've experienced in Murter 👍 You can find some shade on side under pine trees, which is great.

The shore is stones, but in the water is sand. The shore is shallow, perfect for children's games. We didn't visit cafes. There were a lot of people, but we found a place to sit. Nice place.

Since we always prefer beach hopping during our stays, we came here from Sveti Fillip i Jakov, which is 40 km away. Of course, this was 100% a hit. Shallow water, some with sand, which makes it more pleasant for the kids to play. There is also a separate water slide. Public toilets and restaurants, bars and massage areas are also available.
You could tell that the beach was full, but not overcrowded, as in my opinion only tourists from the immediate area used it.
We would be happy to come back on our next visit.
Update from 2023.
The bay is still very beautiful. Some write that it is overcrowded here, but forget that they are part of mass tourism and if everyone picks up one more piece of rubbish than they brought with them, the beach cleans itself 🤗

Well, actual season is a little bit specific (you probably know that it is covid-19 time), so not so many people on the beach. But, the beach is great, especially for families with small kids. But also bigger one will enjoy it here. There is everything you need on the beach.
Martin Routner — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches that I have seen. The colors of the see like in a movie. It is great for kids too, cause the see is not so deep on the beginning.
Orgo — Google review
Beautiful shallow sandy beach, clear water, with bars and restaurants nearby. I loved it here, but it was quiet when I was there. Probably the best beach I discovered during my stay.
marc carney — Google review
Nice beach. Not overcrowded (at least was not 3-13 July 19). Water not the nicest, since it's more or less a small bay. Depends where exactly you stay on the beach. Decent service in terms of food, drinks, sport activities. Below average prices in Croatia in general. No "adrenaline" activities really available.
Jozef Mak — Google review
Nice location, with restaurants, public toilet and 50kn/day parking. There are both sandy and rocky seasides here. Lot of fishes in the water. Also lot of shaded place under the trees

So because of the raves from others, I just tried it out. And very disappointing. First of all, you are asked to pay for parking, about €6 per day, which is still tolerable, but then you have to pay for everything: showers, the toilet, loungers, and the slide. And then this beach is not intended for such crowds. There is a bath towel on the beach. And then there isn't even a supervisor - everyone is on their own if something happens.
If you were to think about all these things, it would be 4 stars and 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of a sandy beach.
Krka National Park is a nature reserve with walking trails, riverboat trips, monastic and castle ruins, and stunning waterfalls that define the landscape of the area. The waterfalls in Krka River are a karstic phenomenon created by river water carving out a canyon through limestone hills over millennia. Besides this remarkable natural sight, there are also several artificial sights within the park that are worth exploring. The park offers boat rides to visitors and has food and drink options available as well.
Totally worth the excursion. The waterfalls are an easy hike as well as all the other parts. Note that there are some stairs but all or most of the trail is paved. They have a museum of how people lived in this area hundreds of years ago. Amazing breathtaking views. Bring water and your camera. Please respect the no swimming rules as the area is trying to conserve its natural beauty.

My visit to Krka Waterfalls park was with a group, the guide was knowledgeable and the place offered a nice refreshing outdoor experience. Furthermore, the place has bathrooms, benches and other viewpoints that made the experience worth it.
If you can’t walk much, the entrance viewpoint is great, the hike offers a nice view of the place.

Such a beautiful place to visit! We had all day in this park. The weather was not too hot so we were happy. You should bring comfortable shoes and clothes for this trip. Also a bag with water and some food. But if you want to buy, you can do it, because there is coffees and shops. Also it is good to have walking sticks if you use them, but without them it is also comfortable. Water view is just amazing and so calming.
There is toilets but the are not free. And the food and coffee prices is normal so don’t worry about that. We only found one place were we can swimm a bit in cooling water.
We saw a lot of fish, 4 small snakes in the water and on the roads:)

Nice 2km walk -starting at Lozovac- through a beautiful scenery that certainly is worth visiting. During summer time it is busy so don’t expect too many ‘private pictures’. We paid EUR 40 for an adult and EUR 15 for a child. Facilities are present in the park to enjoy some food or beverages (or a toilet 😉).

Great walk and slight hike on clean, wooden trails. Great views of smaller falls all around but the cherry on top was the larger falls spread throughout the bridge section of the walking tour. Would be a 5 but since COVID, you cannot wade in the water below the falls. Still beautiful and worth it.

The Katedrala sv. Jakov is a monumental Gothic-Renaissance cathedral located on the Dalmatian coast and designed by Juraj Dalmatinac. It boasts over 70 sculpted heads on its facade and is recognized as a World Heritage Site. The cathedral was constructed entirely of stone from various islands in the region, making it the world's largest church built solely of stone without brick or wooden supports.
Beautiful cathedral with wonderful stonework, details and presence. Šibenik is a beautiful city and it’s old town is full of historic sites. You can get lost in the old streets and find historic sites on each corner. Best time to visit is spring or early hours during the weekdays when it’s not so hot and crowded with tourists.

Parking is quite complicate during holiday seasson. You have 2 possible places : 1. The city of Šibenik or as pop culture calls it Braavos. Šibenik, a neighbour city right beside Split, is also a city of music and is well known for its long tradition of Klapa (like acapella) choir which UNESCO has placed on the list of cultural heritage. The city houses 3 fortress and is where the town of Šibenik came into existence. The city was also used by the TV series, Game of Thrones, to depict the city Braavos. To recap, Braavos is the wealthiest and most powerful of the Free Cities in GoT, and is located on the northwestern end of Essos where the Faceless Men (whom Arya Stark understudied), Iron Bank (yes if you need money to build an army you come here, although Iron Bank depicted in the show is really just St. James Cathedral) and Moonsingers (priestess) are found. The wealthy city streets are also depicted in the TV series so its quite a fan moment for me to walk in GoT.

Most beautiful cathedral on this side of Adriatic. You just need to take a quick look and will be amazed. It is build completely of stone which was real challenge indeed. It was not easy for small towns to build such cathedrals and it was under constructions for almost one hundred years but result is fascinating. If looking from modern perspective some of the funds should have been diverted for hospital, school and libraries but then it was very important to have big cathedral, at least bigger then your neighbors!

We climbed to top of the 56m bell tower and you get a brilliant 360 view of Zadar old town. 15kn per person. Very good value
If you climb around the top of the hour you'll also get a great treat of hearing and feeling the bells close up and seeing the workings of the machinery.
Lots of spiral staircases, watch you don't bang your head at a couple of places. Patience required as other visitors coming up and down but there are are a few places to wait.

You understand immediately why this was used as a location for Game of Thrones. This building and it's surrounding area is amazing. The church is equally impressive inside where you don't wanna miss the beautiful crypt. Fairly wheel chair accessible once you are clear of the big Staircase leading up to the church from the street. I would say that with 1-1.5h you've seen what there is to see. Just around the corner of the church you find the city museum that definitely is worth a look to get a feel of the city.

The Knin Fortress is an absolute must if in the area. The size of it is unmatched. Nestled on a hill overlooking the city and Dinara, Croatias tallest mountain. I somehow entered for free. No one was at the ticket booth when I visited on a Monday afternoon in February. So I just walked around. It's undergoing extensive renovations in just about the entire place, so be prepared for construction material. The best part are the views offered overlooking the city and nature. Can park relatively close, but its somewhat difficult to turn around. Otherwise it's about a 15 minute walk up the somewhat steep street.

Nestled atop the rugged cliffs like a proud sentinel of history, Knin Fortress stands as a testament to the passage of time and the resilience of Croats. Imagine stepping into a time machine that transports you to the medieval ages, where the air is thick with tales of valiant knights, daring sieges, and whispered secrets. The moment you ascend the ancient stone steps and lay your eyes on the panoramic view that unfurls before you, it's as if the mountains and valleys themselves have decided to reveal their splendor only to those who venture to this enchanting fortress.
The sight that greets you is nothing short of breathtaking – a magnificent tapestry of emerald valleys, cradled by majestic mountains, as far as the eye can see. With every breeze, the tales of centuries past seem to come alive, resonating with the heartbeat of generations that have walked these very paths. The stones beneath your feet hold stories of bravery and camaraderie, as they witnessed both the triumphs and tribulations of a bygone era.
But Knin Fortress is not just a relic of the past; it's a living, breathing testament to the resilience of a community that has weathered storms and emerged stronger. Its recent history intertwines with a celebration that echoes through the ages – the Day of Victory over Serbian and Yugoslav Army. As you stand within the fortress walls, you can almost hear the echoes of jubilation as the city reclaimed its freedom. The spirit of the true fighters who liberated the city is palpable, a reminder that history isn't merely confined to textbooks – it's etched into the very stones around you.
And yet, even as we celebrate this victory, it's a stark reminder that not all battles are confined to the pages of history. The stance of government officials barring true fighters from entering the city they liberated is a testament to the complexities of our times. It's a call to remember that honoring our veterans and their sacrifices isn't just about words; it's about actions that reflect the spirit of gratitude we hold in our hearts.
Speaking of veterans, let's raise a glass to the brave souls who have stood unwaveringly for the ideals they hold dear. Their valor and sacrifice continue to inspire us, reminding us that the true heroes are not just those in capes, but those who stand tall in the face of adversity for a cause greater than themselves.
And when you're ready to step away from the historical echoes and embrace the beauty of nature, nearby gems like Krka Waterfall beckon with open arms. The symphony of rushing waters, the lush greenery, and the vibrant energy of the falls offer a stark contrast to the fortress's stoic grandeur. It's a reminder that even within the most ancient of landscapes, life flourishes and evolves.
So, as you stand at the Knin Fortress, let your spirit soak in the stories, the victories, and the resilience that have shaped this land. And as you venture forth, remember that every step you take is a continuation of the legacy that began here – a legacy of strength, unity, and the unwavering spirit of humanity.

This is one of the best fortress museums I've been to on our 7 years fulltime travel. Sadly not all the museums were open although I had the place to myself and I wasn't charged. This is a kids' and historian's paradise. I thorough enjoyed my visit which was a complete surprise.

Though currently undergoing renovation in places you can still walk the entire circuit of the fortress. Be prepared to step over some exposed cabling or pipes to do so. Well worth taking the time to explore including the museums on site. Fine views across the countryside, just ignore the rail yards near the station!
St. George’s Church is one of the most beautiful sites in Primošten. The church at the top of the island was first recorded in 1681 by the glagolitic parish priest Pavo Bernic.
A nice alleyway leads here from the main square in the old town (and from other directions as well). There is a graveyard surrounding the church so it’s important to be respectful and not just look for nice views of Primošten walking over the graves.
There are also public toilets at the site that were open and free. You should definitely visit this beautiful place. This is a nice location to witness wonderful Primošten sunsets.

Stunning church in one of the most beautiful islet towns in Dalmacija. The walk up the pedestrianised stone pathway to the church is wonderful, and the views from the top breathtaking. The sparkling white stone of the church itself is complimented by the terracotta tiled roof. And the cemetery is filled with luxurious family vaults adorned with brightly colored flowers overlooking the azure blue Adriatic. A place of genuine beauty and serenity, and must for any itinerary of central Dalmacija.

Very nicely arranged surroundings of the church. A neatly path from the market (by the way there is a non-payable toilet). The interior is not so rich, but it is a beautiful church. Beautiful view of the surrounding area (the sea, the city ...), although the viewpoint is a cemetery (it is not good if we atep on a grave to take a good picture of Surrounding nature...). Otherwise it's worth a visit.

If the weather is nice go here even if the church is closed. I cannot bring to words how spectacular the view is from up there. Last time I recall something similarly beautiful was when I was in Bolivia the town of Copacabana where there is a similar setup. The graveyard is on top of the hill and in this peaceful and quiet place you can see the jewel of the Adriatic. Just please respect the dead in both Bolivia and Croatia.

Lovely gentle walk up to Zupa sv. Jurja. Beautiful architecture, very peaceful setting. Once at the top there is a stunning view of Primosten. Definitely worth the walk up to the top. There are a few shops and restaurants on the way up. Remember to take your camera.

It is very nice church on the very top of Primošten. Walk to the cemetary is really nice, especially on sunset.

Awesome view around the half island. This is a cemetery Chapel though.

Beautiful stone St. George's Church and cemetery behind the walls of Primosten. Beautiful vantage point.
Kamerlengo Castle is a small, 15th-century fortress in Trogir that was built from 1420 to 1437 to accommodate the Venetian army fleet. Its walls are situated in the south-western part of the city and provide picturesque views of both the city and harbor. The castle gets its name from the then-city treasurer and became recognizable during Venetian rule.
Kamerlengo is an example of a fortress built by Venice outside the city center, serving as the administrative center for Venetian authority. Kamerlengo is such a fortress in Trogir, located at the end of Trogir's waterfront and built in the 15th century.
Unfortunately, the internal residential spaces no longer exist. Today, only the outer wall of the fortress and two towers remain, offering a magnificent view of Trogir and its surroundings when you climb the walkway that runs along the wall.
You will need about half an hour for your visit.
Make sure to visit as part of your stay in Trogir!

Mesmerising old Castle! As a part of the whole fortification it gives me GOT vibes! Loves it. It’s really not expensive place to go plus the views are awesome! P.S. There’s Not much inside, you basically go for the view!

Some nice views of the surroundings, it was 30kr each for us and we were just wondering why some of that entrance fee doesn't seem to be going into basic maintenance. Seems like it could be looked after better. The cathedral is the same price and is amazing.

Small little castel with a great view of the city from the top. Pretty narrow stairs going up and down. Cash only but does have clean restrooms.

We went in the evening near sunset. It was a great view from the top. And walking around the castle walls offers views from all directions

We had a really balanced experience here as you have to pay to enter the small castle, which is fine, but to the walls there is only 1 staircase which is uncomfortable if you check how many people are there at once. The walls are not crowded but there is a high bastion which has a few meter long queue you have to get in as it is also a staircase you have to climb which is very narrow and you have to let people first down then up and nobody is controlling the flow which is upsetting but once you get up top its worth the view.

Great view from the top of the castle of the beautiful city of Trogir Croatia. Not much to do inside and the castle is a bit small, but still a definite visit when in town.
A bit pricey for what it is. But cool nevertheless. Some of Game of Thrones was filmed here in Trogir.

Nice to see when you are in Trogir. Tickets are not expensive. First you can see 15 minutes film about the fortress and its history. Then you can walk around the walls. You can see also beautiful panorama of Trogir from tower's roof.

This castle is of course on of the touristic places to visit. It’s at the end of the boulevard of Trogir. In the area are lot of restaurants and little shops where you can eat or do some shopping. The streets looks nice and tidy!

30 kuna to enter and a total waste of time. What you'll see from the outside is what you'll see on the inside, bare walls. Nothing else there. Not even shade, yeah you can climb the walls, but in my opinion, that's not enough of an attraction to warrant the waste of time and money.
Robert Chomicz — Google review
Staff uninterested. Didn't even make eye contact with us. It's cash only BTW so make sure you bring hard currency. There's absolutely nothing to see on the ground floor, you can go up and do the wall walk and go to the top of the tall tower, which gives a nice view, but there is Zero information about the castle throughout. Would a signboard or two hurt?
Jarrod Hunt — Google review
This place is a joke. The fortress looks much better from the outside than it does inside. For the 5€ entrance fee there is nothing to see inside other than litter and dead birds. These people are only making money from what their ancestors built and don’t care about keeping it. Just sad.
Roman Smolka — Google review
It's a fine landmark, but mostly empty inside. 5 euro for the entrance and nice view from the ramparts. You can also shoot bow and crossbow inside, which was a fun experience 🙂

€4 entrance. Beautiful views across the whole of the Old town. Large area at the top Tower. You can also walk round the whole Fort. No queues to get in. Cash only.
Has toilets.
Melissa Roberts — Google review
Definitely worth visiting, both for the fortress itself and for the view you will enjoy.
Not for everyone though. There are some steps to clim, especially if you want to reach the top of the tower. Those ones are narrow and slippery.

A small castle in the center of Trogir with a great panoramic view of the old town from the top. To see the best part (the top floor) you have to use the narrow and steep stairway, so it may not be suitable for everyone...
Nikša Brala — Google review
There is nothing special inside. The view is nice, especially if you reach the top of the tower. During summer there are doing concerts and movie evenings, which is cool. Tickets are 25kn/person, for kids are 20kn and they do not accept cards, only cash. In the lower lever of the tower they have a tv which is playing a documentary about the fortress. The most interesting parts are the coats of arms outside of the walls.
The Palace Central Square hotel, located in Trogir, offers 8 air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen televisions. The guesthouse is situated near Cipiko Palace and Kamerlengo Fortress and is within close proximity to Cathedral of St. Lawrence and Trogir Main Square. Guests can enjoy free WiFi in public areas and utilize the porter/bellhop services.
Perfect place to spend some quality time in Trogir. The only problem is - you like it so much there that you don't want to leave.
Ivan, the host, is so nice and friendly and knows what to advise. See you soon

Great location for visiting not only Trogir but the whole area. Right in the old town of Trogir, but not noisy, we could sleep very well in the night with the windows closed. Good working air conditioning. Room very clean.
Ivan is very friendly, helped us with luggage from and to the parking lot, gave us a lot of tips about restaurants and beaches in the area.
They even got me a box of chocolates for my birthday.

Amazing rooms. Dalmatian style. Very clean. Breakfast around the corner with special rebates also for lunch and dinner in the restaurant Queen Tenta.
Ivan and his wife Mattea are very friendly hosts with lots of recommendations for a very nice stay. Transfer from the airport for little money.
Many thanks !!!!!

This lovely “family run” Hotel is at the heart of the Old Town in Trogir - so the location is perfect. The Hotel is simple elegant, uses nice light colours, modern-comfortable and new furnitures but you still can feel the atmosphere of the Old Town. Clineliness is on high standard - also they provide everything from shower gel until the hairdryer and fresh towels. There is also a safe in the room and morning staff - tea, coffee, different size of mugs - what are lovely. A few benefits are coming with the Hotel - like discount for a breakfast in other high quality restaurant or Air Conditioner. The Owner, Ivan and also his wife and his sister are local people so always recommend the best places to visit, eat or try; find the most trusted companies and tours to have the best experince. They also provide Airport transfer - what makes the life much more easier. All these 3 are friendly, lovely and helpful people and also they talk a high level of English. These few sencentces can not describe enough how they run ‘this jewllery box’ but I strongly recommend this place to try.
Just absolutely amazing, Enjoy :)

Fantastic location and room. Ivan was helpful at checking and finding a storage room for my bicycle as I am bike touring Croatia. The only negative was WiFi was not good in room. Unable to get a good signal from either of two networks. Highly recommend the rooms, great place to stay!

Centrally located in old city, the family that owns and runs this is accommodating, warm and hospitable. We enjoyed learning how they have worked many years to restore this ancient building. All the rooms are beautiful and unique, ask about the cannon ball wedged in the walls between buildings!!
If you wish to stay in the ancient part of the city you cannot go wrong staying here!!
St. Lawrence's Cathedral is a notable religious structure in Trogir, Croatia. It boasts of an impressive Romanesque-Gothic architectural design and features a bell tower that visitors can climb. The cathedral was built during the 13th to 15th centuries and showcases various significant works of art including the grand Romanesque portal crafted by Master Radovan in 1240, which depicts different scenes from actual life and the Bible.
A stunning Cathedral. A must see in Trogir, make sure to climb the belfry as well for the best views of Trogir.

Very much worth the five Euros entrance fee. Very beautiful inside and out. I was very impressed with the entrance way. The climb up the bell tower is steep but the views are great.

The Cathedral and Bell Tower are in the main square and are a stunning experience in themselves. Climb to the top of the Bell Tower for magnificent views over Trogir and the surrounding area. Entrance to the Bell Tower costs 30 Kuna and it's 25 Kuna to go into the Cathedral.

Main church of the medieval Zadar. it costs 30 kuna to get in, unfortunately for me there was a wedding when I was there... but... even from the outside, its a beautiful edifice, especially considering that its mostly Romanesque and gothic. Definitely worth your time!

The view is so nice! It was hard to climb to the top, but it's worth it, so please try it!
There is a bridge a little further away, and it is recommended because it is the best spot for photos.
There are small shops such as ice cream shops in the town, and there is a calm atmosphere.
It is an impression that there were many cute shops in the alleys such as small streets.

Gorgeous church in the center of the walled part of the old town. €5 to enter but well worth it. You can climb to the top of the bell tower for beautiful views of the city. It gets a bit claustrophobic right at the end where you have to pass through a small stone hole but it's not bad. My large behind was able to get through and so can you. Gorgeous interior with a treasure room (no photos allowed in treasure room). Also no photos during active mass.

Impressive interior in this Cathedral of Trogir and a good place to reflect in silence.
But the best part is the sarcophagus of Ivan Trogirski who was the first bishop of Trogir. He was also known under his name Orsini, born in 1032 in Rome and died 1111. This spectacular monument was built in 1468 when his bones were moved to Trogir

St. Lawrence Church in Trogir is a charming historical landmark that showcases the beauty of Croatian architecture and religious heritage. Situated in the heart of the picturesque town of Trogir, the church's exterior is nothing short of captivating. The intricate stonework and ornate details on the façade make it a true masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic design. Its presence outside certainly adds to the overall allure of this coastal town.
However, while the exterior may be awe-inspiring, the interior of St. Lawrence Church does not quite match the grandeur of its outer appearance. Inside, you will find a more typical church setting with a simple layout, traditional pews, and religious artifacts. Although lacking the same level of intricacy seen on the exterior, the interior still exudes a sense of reverence and tranquility, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors.

An impressive, picturesque church in the heart of old town Trogir. The whole square was magical in the nice morning sunshine. I would advise visiting in early morning or evening to avoid the summer heat. There was a big line to enter the church plus it’s 5€ entry and you need to cover yourself if you wear tanktops etc.

€5 entrance fee which incudes the tower and Cathedral. Quite steep steps. Nice views from the top. We were there at 12pm when the bells went off.. obviously it's very loud and it doesn't just strike 12 times. Cash only.

Absolutely worth the visit. Beautiful church. The entrance ticket is 5 euros and includes the church, bell tower and treasury.

Nice architecture and a lot of detailed statues. Stunning view from bell tower but you have to be a wee bit careful because the stairs are steep. Really important information is that you are allowed to enter if you are wearing a strappy top. You should have your shoulders covered. The ticket is 30kn/person and they do not accept cards.
