CaixaForum Madrid is a cutting-edge arts center in a former power station that has become one of Madrids most popular attractions. With rotating art exhibits and special programming for children, Caixaforum is always something new and exciting to explore.
A must for any Architect. Had the opportunity of revisiting this masterpiece from H&dM. One of my favorite buildings ever is aging very well and remains one very important cultural hub in Madrid. All the different layers create a unique building that relates itself with city and the square it creates. Thank you LaCaixa for Caixaforum.

What a cool space! There were a few rotating exhibits and art shows in this museum but the real star of this place is the modern Spanish design (as well as the vertical garden outside). I really enjoyed wandering around this space.
I visited around 10am when it opened and the place was mostly empty. There multiple floors of theaters and classrooms that were not in use and ALL were designed really really well. I particularly enjoyed the white, wavy staircase that was a gaudy-esque modern space.
It is free to enter the building and visit the small gift shop and a few open spaces (like the restaurant upstairs). However, it was only 6 euros to visit both exhibits and well worth the price. Stop by this place!

For the first time, we enter this building that is a work of art in itself. We went to see the temporary exhibition "Art and Nature" which is located in the rooms on the 3rd floor. During my recent visit to CaixaForum Madrid, I was thoroughly impressed by the museum's unique and stunning architecture. Every detail, from the elevator to the stairs to the windows and lighting, was a pleasant surprise. The vertical garden is truly beautiful and adds to the overall charm of the place and even to the whole city. I am already looking forward to visiting other exhibitions at CaixaForum Madrid in the future. It is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and memorable place.

Two exhibitions. One on Tattoo, which is informative but a bit dry and Fashion and Film by John Paul Gautier which is amazing, stunning and absolutely fabulous.

Very nice exhibition about Nicholas Tesla. A lot of information to read and listen. The Caixa Forum is always a good spot with amazing exhibitions. It definitely worth a visit. The Reina Sofia Museum is also not too far, those two museums are often to combine to enjoy modern art exhibitions.

I loved the building! My friend and I visited the temporary exhibition for free because of the youth card, which was about landscapes. At the entrance they give you a small book with interesting activities to enhance the visit and appreciate the works. We had a great time with the stories and experiences ✨

My recent visit to CaixaForum Madrid was an absolute delight! The venue offered two intriguing contemporary exhibitions that left me in awe.
The first exhibition, "Top Secret, Cine y espionaje," took me on a thrilling journey through the world of secret agents in movies. The collection of spy memorabilia and film artifacts was both fascinating and immersive. It was like stepping into the world of espionage, reliving iconic movie moments, and learning about the historical context of spies in popular culture.
The second exhibition, "Mamut: The Resurrection," was a unique and captivating display. The sculpture of real mammoth was nothing short of breathtaking. The attention to detail and the lifelike representation transported me back to a prehistoric era, evoking a sense of wonder and curiosity about these magnificent creatures.
The layout and curation of both exhibitions were superb, allowing for an enjoyable and educational experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall visit.

A change to the more established museums in Madrid. This is a smaller modern museum with rotating features - in the month of July 2023, it all about ...spies!!
Nice modern architecture and well nice features space allowing visitors to meander thru the displays at own leisure. Good place to leisure spend an hour or two in.
EUR6 per person entry, no discounts for students.

Nice interiors fun exhibitions.
Might say too many children and some were racist, but that’s not the museum’s fault
The Reina Sofia Museum is a sprawling art museum with works by some of the most renowned artists in history, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. The museum is located in the heart of Madrid and is easily accessible by public transportation.
This is the BEST art museum that Madrid has to offer. It is truly exceptional. My wife and I spent about three hours here and still did not get to see it all. You need multiple visits to truly experience everything. One day we will come back to Madrid and finish what we started.
Michael Viart — Google review
Easily my favorite art museum in Madrid! I think it beats the Prado, which is more concerned with the national heritage and patrimony of Spain for the last 500 years. In contrast the Reina Sofia focuses on the last 100 years of Spanish history - starting with the civil war. Exhibits on the 1930s are extensive, well documented, thorough, fascinating - serves as a history museum as well. A lot of supporting documents, such as newspapers and drawings and photographs, not just "art" and paintings.
You could spend a week in here... and still not see the awesome Picasso and Dali collections (Guernica is here). All modern art movements since the 1940s are covered here. Contemporary exhibits include sculpture, performance, installations, etc and include artists from the Americas and North Africa. You will be up to date with everything happening in the art world after spending a few days here. Finally, the architecture of the old and new museum buildings are to be studied themselves!
alex bonick — Google review
We went there for a free session 7-9pm, a little bit long waiting time but consider it is free. A lot of contemporary arts plus Picasso, you will find it interesting to pay a visit. Love the terrace view.
Yvonne Y — Google review
This is an amazing collection of Spanish art.
The layout is a bit mixed - you will find Miro and Dali intermingled, with one or two in a dozen different gallery rooms.
Buy your tickets online.
Expect a line on weekends.
Special exhibits need special tickets.
They have free lockers on the 1st floor.
Jason Siefferman — Google review
I’d say less organized than the Prado museum. However, if you’re a fan of Dali and Miro, you’ll find plenty of their works on display at this museum. You can also take photos to your heart’s content which is convenient if you want to review the art objects you saw, and would like to examine them in detail later on.
M B — Google review
The exhibition has some of the most famous modern artists! It is well thought out and the nice garden in the center offers a nice place to rest between display rooms.
The place is terribly packed, though, and the only way to access the upper floor where the temporary exhibition is is through very slow elevators, that have a capacity of 8 people (more than that and the weight alarm goes off).
It felt like I spent a similar amount of time queuing for entering and moving around, and appreciating the art.
Alejandro Mora — Google review
Great experience. One of the hugest museums ever been. Be prepared to walk miles through galleries inside the museum. Surrealistic and realistic art galleries. The most important, on Wednesday it had free visiting hours for anyone from 19:00-21:00. No need to pre-reserve online. You just take the free ticket and enjoy the experience.
Detjona Muco — Google review
Amazing gallery and exhibition space in the middle of Madrid. Probably my favourite gallery in the whole of Spain. Unbelievable art always on show and fantastic exhibitions that are highly rated. The building is superb with a very contemporary new building adjoining the old building. It's definitely worth a visit and has Picasso Dali Goya etc always on show

An incredible museum and a must go if you’re in the city. The museum is a bit of a maze but after a few minutes you’ll figure it out. Amazing architecture and of course, Guernica is just a stunning piece of art (and history). Must go.
Adams_coffee — Google review
You can see a lot of artworks, Dali, Miro, and Picasso. Some part, you can’t take pictures, but most part, you can. I recommend but ticket in advance and there are 2 times visit ticket as well. One thing, there is no paper map. So easy to lost, I also recommend you buy audio guide.
Jiwon Kokomong Kim — Google review
Museo Reina Sofia is one the best modern museums. Even if modern art isn't your favourite, I think you will still love Reina Sofia. There are lots of paintings but also many statues and some interesting installations. This museum is huge, so make sure that you have enough time to see everything. My visit was almost 4 hours long. I loved everything about this museum but we weren't very lucky because lots of rooms were closed. Visit Reina Sofia when your in Madrid.
-Indra Decorte- — Google review
This museum is set in two adjoined structures that contrast between different styles of architecture. The work inside embodies that expression.
There are famous works like “Guernica” that attract the majority of the crowds along with other staples like works by Miro and Dali. Then there are beautifully tucked away rooms that hold examples of architecture, exhibition design and film / documentary work.
Easily could spend 3hrs or more just appreciating the views of the surrounding square and Atocha station through windows in the stairwell and the glass structures of the lifts.
Be sure to visit the terrace on the third floor for a framed view of the rooftops and sky.
christopher paprocki — Google review
If you come, be prepared for a lot of waiting. Even if you buy your tickets online, you'll still have the potential for an hour or two wait just to get in. Then there's more waiting inside to get the audio guide from the single, under staffed desk. More waiting for the elevators. More waiting for the restrooms. I went on a weekday, but if it gets busier on the weekends? Maybe skip it.
All that said, the art inside is beautiful. Guernica is one of a kind, and so are many of the other works on display here. It's almost worth the wait. Almost.
Edward Portillo — Google review
It is a very beautiful and large museum.
I really liked the expos ( Picasso, Dali, others and a lot of 'Tat' art), because it displays a variety of styles and types of art. It has 3 floors with art and a fourth floor with a panoramic view
What I didn't like was the design of the museum, because if you don't speak spanish, you will get a little lost.
In conclusion, I really recommend this establishment.

Make sure to visit early, on Sunday I went at about 11am and there was few visitors there. I found out later that there was a long queue outside because it was free from 12:30. The Picasso Gallery is not allowed to take photos, which is very unfriendly. There are not many guides in the gallery and if you don't research beforehand you could get lost and walk much more than you expected. Still, it's well worth a visit.
Vienna — Google review
An amazing modern art exhibition including paintings, sculptures, installation and more by some of the 20th century leading artists such as Dali and Picasso... The later famous "Guernica" painting is on exhibit.
Well worth the time to explore the different rooms showcasing a variety of art movements.
There is a free entrance, depending on the day and time that you can find through Google.
Ilan Kader — Google review
Very large art museum with huge variety of exhibits. Very famous pieces located here as well as more modern art. Saw some fascinating visual pieces that were mesmerising. Layout is not great, so would be easy to miss something. One of the floors was closed, not sure why.
Justa Guy — Google review
Prefer the art in this museum over Prado. A lot less crowded and I even went during the free hours. Went at 6:50pm on a weekday (pictured in line) and waited longer than expected. Entered around 7:30pm.
Museum is very big, has stairs and the 2 elevator towers. There's a terrace on the third floor which would be good for sunsets.
R — Google review
Beautiful art gallery with a lot of amazing pieces. Of course must have in Madrid. But less interesting for children (lack of food , interactive places or something how to keep their attention). Some minor modification will make this crowded gallery more attractive for families. Anyhow you will be satisfied in art meaning of the word.
Martin Pegner — Google review
Be sure to visit, very impressive and lots of contemporary art. The huge selection is also perfect for entertaining yourself, although you should probably take your time for that - even for the queue. The queue is enormous (and you‘ll know why); even with purchased tickets it might still take a while.
Steven Koch — Google review
Wonderful museum with a wide and diverse collection. So many major artists and works. Get a map for the layout. The facility is well maintained and the staff were so helpful. So thankful to have the opportunity to visit this fantastic place. I would definitely plan a visit while in Madrid!

Was very nice, they have Goya, Picasso and Dali’s to see and many others, wasn’t expensive around €10. Was very well kept, very big, spent about two hours looking around. They have a nice little cafe and gift shop. They also have several Roman / Greek statues, we had a very nice time, they offer an audio and tours there, we didn’t take them but they have them in several languages. It wasn’t too busy and didn’t take longer than two minutes to get tickets. Would definitely recommend checking this museum out, especially if you like art.
Pong Lenis — Google review
Famous Guernica and many more Picasso and Dali paintings are exhibited in here. You can enter free after 7 pm, but don't forget there is a lot of art piece which will not be seen in 2h.
Hulya Cakmak — Google review
Visited the museum a few days ago. The queue was long for tickets. Best to buy online. There is a security section scanning before entry. There is a lot to see. Long white corridors to gallery rooms. There is an inner courtyard if you need air. We had a drink and bite to eat at a restaurant that is joined to the museum, garden something. We enjoyed being able to get close to the artwork and photograph. There is a huge surreal section. Great to see works by Salvador Dali, Miro, Man Ray, Picasso.

C. de Sta. Isabel, 52, Centro, 28012 Madrid, Spain
Atocha Railway Station is a major rail hub in Madrid, in southern Spain. It was the site of the 2004 terrorist attack that killed 191 people. The station has a large exterior and interior garden, as well as several places to grab lunch. The complex also houses cafes, shops, and an indoor tropical garden with more than 7000 plants.
Most beautiful train station I have seen. It has a greenhouse with turtles (tropical area) And several shops like clothing and accessories. There are nearly 3 coffee shops. The taxi stop is very near. This train station is the main one in Madrid there are two types of trains AVE (the high speed train) & RENFE. I recommend you to go and visit this place.
Maryam from Qatar — Google review
I recently had the opportunity to visit the very modern train station near my hotel, and I wanted to share my thoughts and feedback regarding my experience.
First and foremost, I must commend the outer beauty of the train station, which truly is stunning. The modern amenities provided, along with the inside atrium that offers a comfortable lower temperature, made for a pleasant atmosphere for travelers passing through. Additionally, the very easy access to taxis was highly convenient for me and my companions during our visit.
One of the major advantages of this train station was its proximity to my hotel, being just a 4-minute walk away. This proximity added significant convenience to our journey.
However, I must highlight a downside that I encountered during my visit. When attempting to purchase train & bus tickets, I was directed to different places depending on the city, leading to confusion and a significant waste of time. This was inconvenient and disrupted the smooth flow of our travel plans. Plus I was told that it was sold out and I was giving different travel times. When I went online they had availability.
On a positive note, the presence of a small garden offered a space for travelers to relax and unwind, which was a thoughtful addition to the station's facilities. While I did not have the chance to sample any food or beverages, or purchase souvenirs, I did notice a few options in the nearby area.
Regrettably, I was not impressed by the washroom facilities at the train station. It is important to maintain cleanliness and quality in such essential amenities for the comfort and satisfaction of visitors.
Warm regards,
[Your Name]

A little confusing, but clean and well kept. Plenty of stuff to do from tourists while waiting to board. Transportation was easy, from bus, taxi and Uber, it was quick and painless. We'll definitely be back!
Alex T — Google review
Beautiful station but extremely chaotic. The AVE check in and waiting area is the worst in a main city that I have seen.
There are hundreds of people waiting. They don’t show the track number until literally 5 to 10 minutes before your train will leave. So when you go and look, everybody is doing the same and then people run just like sheep walking on lava. It’s pure madness. The system is so odd.
The waiting area lack of seating space. They only have two small areas with seats which I think is crazy so you get people literally all over the floor and corners.
X King — Google review
One of the major hubs in the Madrid train network. Atocha goes in every direction out from the center of Madrid. Pay attention - If you have the Multi-Card for the Madrid Metro, this will allow you to travel to anywhere within Zone A, but not outside of that (which the train definitely goes). The stops are every easy to navigate so long as you are aware which directions the trains are going. Most of the staff speak English, so it's not a big deal if you can't speak Spanish.
One big difference between the train and the metro is leaving the station. On the smaller metro trains, you only need to scan your Multi-Card in, but on the bigger trains you need to scan in -and- scan out.
snarkyguy — Google review
It's a very large train station with great connection. What's missing? New York Penn station and Grand Central station are much more "humble" stations. But we do have public restrooms, which are free to use by anyone. At times, the "paid" restrooms at Atocha closed at 9:00 PM (even during the summer) so if you have to use the toilet you are our of luck. With Covid, we need to facilitate hand washing. See video of train also

We visited here just for the architecture and the garden, it is a well laid out station with plenty of shops and restaurants. We did not get to ride one of the high-speed trains, maybe next time.
alex bonick — Google review
A nice train station, with many different routes. The area itself is nice, but finding a few things can be confusing. For instance, we were looking for the regional trains to Cordoba, and we had to ask a few people where to go. If you have to buy tickets here for any reason I would suggest using the self-serve kiosks as the waits for a person can be long.
Isaac Archuleta — Google review
Once you know how to navigate the station it is pretty straightforward. However you have multiple train lines going out of here and you need to be careful that you are in the right area. There is an upstairs and a downstairs that trains leave from. Just ask one of the people in the green jackets and they will help direct you
Adrian Grieve — Google review
Huge bus and train station. Super easy to navigate. Signs on the ground level tell you arrival times your bus and downstairs you can buy your train tickets from a machine or ticket office. There are numerous stores and restaurants in the terminal. Busses have wifi (usually). Atocha is located in an excellent part of town. There are dozens of waiting taxis.

Estación Madrid - Puerta de Atocha really stood out as an impressively efficient train station during our recent visit. We had such a great time there! The experience was smooth from start to finish, and we reached our destination without a single hiccup, all thanks to this station.
What made it so special was how everything seemed to work like clockwork. The minimal delays and the hassle-free boarding process made our journey a breeze. Plus, the station was sparkling clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant environment for travelers like us.
The staff at Estación Madrid - Puerta de Atocha were not only professional but also incredibly friendly. Their assistance and warm smiles added to the positive vibes of our trip.
Moreover, the station had some great amenities, like dining options and comfortable waiting areas, which really catered to our needs.
In a nutshell, Estación Madrid - Puerta de Atocha is a fantastic train station. With its efficiency, welcoming staff, and top-notch facilities, it's an excellent choice for any traveler. Our trip from this station was truly enjoyable, and we'd highly recommend it for a hassle-free and pleasant journey.

Embarking on the IRYO train journey from Barcelona to Madrid was a delightful experience from start to finish. Departing promptly at 11:55, I anticipated a seamless trip ahead. The estimated arrival time of 14:40 was met with excitement for the adventures awaiting me in Madrid.
The speed of the train, reaching a maximum of approximately 290 km/h, ensured a swift and efficient journey. Despite the high speed, the ride remained remarkably calm, allowing passengers to relax and enjoy the scenic views along the way. The comfortable seats added to the overall pleasantness of the journey, offering ample legroom and a serene atmosphere.
Compared to traveling by plane, the IRYO train proved to be a superior option. With air travel, one must factor in the additional time required for airport check-in procedures, security checks, and baggage claim. Not to mention the hassle of navigating through the airport and arranging transportation to the city center upon arrival. In contrast, the train journey seamlessly transports passengers directly to the heart of Madrid, eliminating the need for such inconveniences.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the IRYO train for anyone traveling between Barcelona and Madrid. It provides a comfortable, efficient, and stress-free mode of transportation, allowing travelers to maximize their time and enjoyment in both cities.

The station is being renovated at the moment and the gardens were closed of so you were unable to walk through them ( hence the lack of stars) it’s a shame you need to have a train ticket to get to see the actual trains and platforms, it always interesting see trains abroad.. It is a very big and busy train station in the capitol of Spain 🇪🇸. Here you can find a lot of shops inside the station. They also have toilets which cost 1€ to enter but it's very modern and clean. Trains are very fast, arrive and depart on the scheduled time. In the train you have free wi-fi and you can watch movies during the journey.

Beautiful train station with a little forest inside! Pretty awesome. It’s organized and things more calmly and quickly. A nice experience. Lots of space and a couple shops. Not a lot of options for food or drink and you can only go in 90 minutes before your train but I’d advise waiting until closer to boarding time.

A former slaughterhouse in central Madrid is now home to a contemporary arts center. The building, formerly divided into three spaces, offers excellent dining and drinking options in addition to exhibitions, performances, and cinema.
very nice place to visit for arts and media, it also has cafes, a cantina and eventually a market happens there.
the architecture is awesome, features restored old buildings and rock walls in contrast with new tech and contemporary art.

Super fun place to go for a drink or for a snack. The expositions are great and most the time free. They have IPA on draft, happy about that. A wonderful place to stop in after a walk by the river to bask in the oddity of such a large open industrial space so close to the city. Highly recommend and if you have kids it's a great place to take them and let them run around.

The history behind this place is fascinating, and the idea of transforming this place into an art center is brilliant.
""Matadero" a real "slighhouse" many years ago is now a beautiful place dedicated to show Artwork in all its forms.
This place is pretty big and it has different sections/rooms around it where all the expositions take place, and a lot of them are completely FREE and the ones charging anything, are really affordable. I should mention that the entrance to Matadero is also free. Highly recommended to register online at mataderomadrid.org and reserve your spot so you don't wait in line outside in the heat or cold. The website is in english and spanish.
"El Jardin de las Delicias"/ The Garden of Earthly Delights artwork is AMAZING. The Surrealist Links, Cool 3D world is just spectacular, see some pics down below. The best part of this experience is that it was totally Free.
Matadero also has good restaurants and a botanical garden. Bikes are available to rent.
As a reference Matadero is located within Rio Madrid Park (Parque Rio Madrid) closer to Plaza Rio 2 Shopping Center.
This place is a Must! A lot of history and art behind the Matadero walls, enjoy!

I had the best exhibition experience in Madrid at Matadero with Apichatpong Weerasethakul exhibition. And it was all for free. If you are even slightly interested in his films do not miss it. And even if you are not interested at all do not miss it. It is poetic and fascinating.

Matadero is a really great place to visit. Very attractive buildings. Nice cinema. Good exhibits..theatre etc. Nice terrace bar though the code to order drinks did not work and they should go back to the old way with someone taking orders. Otherwise a lovely place. Visited the Klimt exhibition.

Great art expo for all enthusiasts. Amazing video of his Klimpt's work on a 30min loop. The 3D google/show at the end was a lovely final touch to a wonderful experience. The only downside, hence the 4/5 stars is access to public parking, the closest was nearly a km away!

Parque Warner Beach is a waterpark in Madrid that offers a refreshing and fun experience for families and friends. The park has expanded its attractions to include well-known characters from the Warner universe, creating a cinema atmosphere with shows, sets, and character appearances. With 40,000 m2 dedicated to attractions, restaurants, rest areas, and a store, visitors can enjoy an exciting summer day. While it can get crowded in August, visiting during other months may provide a more enjoyable experience.
I was there at the beginning of July, and I had a wonderful experience with my girlfriend. The place was not packed. We had time to go through all attractions and even repeat some. The staff was friendly to us for the most part. Although I saw a lady getting hurt (nothing serious) and the SOS swimmers laught instead of rushing to help. Other than that, everything was very professional. I guess that if you avoid August, you will enjoy it. I heard a local say that it can get crowded in that month.

Likewise the Florida parks.
End of April 2024 there was some work happening in some attractions and rides. There was no map available and that was not a good experience.
Dirty restaurants too.
Wait times are way longer than it was showing, like 50min to the Batman ride took 120min. That repeated to other rides as well.
Lack of responsibility or laziness.
Rogerio Barros — Google review
Where should I start? Maybe with the price: 28€/person. Here is what you get. Overcrowding: at least one hour between rides (even for the most basic swimming pool).
Terrible and frozen junk food, for which you even have to wait at least 30 minutes. This will be your only option, since you are not allowed to bring food in.
Poor covid measures: forced to wear masks on the line but in the children pool everyone was happily breathing without.
Poorly connected, took us an enire hour to reach from the center of Madrid (this is partlialy renfe's fault).
Would definetely not reccomend.
simone riedi — Google review
The park is nice. We were with 4 kids 11 8 5 3, and every child found his preferred attractions. We were at Thursday and the park was crowded. The waiting time for the moderate attractions was minimum 40 min and half of the time under the sun. There are no indicator sign of the waiting time (2023..?!). Bottom line it was a nice day to spend for hot days in Madrid, but can't be compared with other water park in Europe (Rulantica etc).
Ilan Benizri — Google review
Terrible experience. We paid €30 for the tickets and struggled to fit in 3 rides in 8 hours. Most rides require two queues (one to get the floater and another one to slide down), each longer than 1 hour. Do you want to grab some lunch? Be prepared to queue for another hour. The water park is rather small and has very few rides, which explains the waiting times. Perhaps they should consider selling less tickets.
Dasha Skrynnik — Google review
Great place to be however it is insanely expensive to get transport to this place.
Also if you have the money, invest in fast passes, they are expensive but do allow you first entry on almost every ride.
Be ready also to pay extra for the parque beach...its 12€ each and is not included in the standard ticket.
FreeMusicRep — Google review
It's a nice place to spend a full day with children (we were with 4 kids 11,8,5,3) all of them found an attraction to do, but the park was crowded and the waiting time was very long to the main attractions. The staff was not effective, I watched them and told to myself with more effective guide I think they can cut the waiting time by half, for example to provide to staff more oboes in the Batman/Joker slids).
Ilan Beni — Google review
The park was decorated really well for Halloween but as always long queues and few restaurants were open, always a bummer as you can't take your own food into the park!
BENJAMIN STEWART — Google review
It’s the worst aqua park in my life (I’ve visited 6-7 aqua parks). If you want to waste your time please come in because if you want to get on attractions you need to wait in two lines (in the major), first to get equipment and second to use it. All of your time you are under the sun rays and with out hat, because you do not have possibility to left it. Of course it’s not a problem, if you do not need to wait for an hour or more, but here you need to do that.
So:
- Maybe it’s a could place for those who love SM.
- On my mind that the main purpose of this park to get all your money (because you need to buy a flash pass (but it doesn’t help you fully) and drinks, a lot of drinks).

At the beer festival in Madrid, no chance to try a beer. Pay and take your luck. Sorry, but this is not the form at a beer festival. I will not drink their beer again. Perhaps it is good, but if I can't try it how do I know? I would encourage this brewery not to attend future beer festivals as they clearly don't understand the culture of beer. And so I doubt their beer is any good.

Puerta del Sol is a medieval gate in Toledo's old town, dating back to the 14th century. It features an arched entryway and offers picturesque city views from the walking path next to it. The gate is adorned with a medallion depicting the city's patron saint and images of the sun and moon added in the 16th century, giving it its name.
Constructed in Mudejar style, was built to give access to the walled city. Dated to last quarter of the 14 century
Further behind 100m is the Roman Puerta, layers of history abound in this beautiful town

I'll never travel to Malaga without this trip planner again
These windmills are really well preserved and the area surrounding them very well done. If I compare the visit to the windmills in Consuegra, this visit was more pleasant. There are several bars, cafés and souvenir shops right next to the windmills. We had a coffee and a snack while sitting and admiring the views. The parking area wasn't huge, but they are working on it...this area is in construction and when it is finished, it will be even better. Very good experience overall. If you can only visit one set of windmills on the Don Quijote trail, let it be Campo de Criptana. No tickets needed.
Michelle Martínez — Google review
Difficult to reach, but if you can get there either by local train or rental car (our option), it's worth the visit. Nice to see small towns in Spain that aren't overrun by tourists and remain true to their own culture. The atmosphere is very calming, as there is almost nothing going on during the day, and the streets are empty. This also means that everything was closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon, presumably for a siesta.
The windmills themselves are magnificent and stand on top of a hill that has a good view of the rest of the town, as well as a landscape of distant mountains beyond.
Tourist Information center spoke little to no English, but were nice, and provided an interior tour of one of the windmills.
Not much else to do in the town except visit the windmills, but it's worth it for a few hours long day trip.

This is a really fantastic place. We took a slight detour on our way to Cordoba and it was well worth it. The windmills and castle are fabulous and the walk up was fun. There's great motorhome parking at the foot of the hill and you can either take the road or climb directly up the hill on the well trodden informal path. Great views and plenty of windmills to see. Incredible views and scenery of the famous Don Quixote windmills. We arrived before the busses came with tourists and were able to have the place to ourselves. We hired a taxi from Toledo that the tourist information place recommended and it was a return taxi for 95€. Well worth it. Small national park & migratory bird site, explored by off-road vehicle, Segway or on foot.
Peace, tranquility and surrounded by nature. That is how everyone should spend at least one day every few months! Las Tablas is free, a lovely walk while admiring, small birds, geese, ducks, etc. The trees are amazing! There is a boardwalk to get you over the wetlands safely and to get you as close as you can to admire the scenery. There is a big parking area, restrooms, visitors center, observation area, and plenty of benches along the walk to take a rest if you need too. A wheelchair can make it through with some help (through some dirt areas). This is a very nice National Park which has been under the government's protection for over 50 years. I totally recommend a visit.

It so desperately needs more water to reestablish its glory. What little remains still holds a great compliment of birds, however the majority of the reed beds are now dry.
The reserve is expertly maintained by a dedicated staff. But will it ever return to its former glory? Not with fields of new vines and olives planted sucking water from the water table. Nation help is needed to retain this Spanish treasure!

We visited on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon at 6pm. There were still 100's of families, couples and guided parties walking round the various routes. We were lucky though to have a guide who was able to explain quite alot in English. The levels of water have fallen due to the dry weather and this has pushed the wildlife further away from the walkways and viewing areas. I suggest you either take a pair of binoculars with you or go on a guided walk that provides them. I think the best time to visit if you want to see as much wildlife and in particular the birdlife is in the mornings and from Monday to Friday as the numbers of people visiting are significantly lower than at the weekends. There are toilets situated at the start of your journey so I would say if you need to go do it before you set off walking. There is also a small shop selling souvenirs as well as snacks, water and ice cream etc. Try to visit in April and May or even earlier as the water levels drop as the summer months approach. On the plus side if you have travelled in a campervan or you are towing a caravan, you can stay overnight in one of the grassed car parks. Remember to bring your own food as Daimiel is about 14km away.👍👍👍👍

I expected Google maps would take me on the minor road to Daimiel town but Google maps was rubbish, taking me along rough farm tracks, told me to turn left onto a field - no tracks within 200m. It insisted on directing me to a hide that is only accessible on foot from the visitor centre, but refused to direct me to the visitor centre.

A beautiful Natural park to spend with Family and Friends. It was a beautiful experience walking around the park. During summer it is good to visit during morning because it could be very hot during tge middle of the day.

Bird watching in an easy way. Almost flat and well prepared with walkways over the water takes you to the observation posts. From these wooden cabins it is worth to use long shot photography and telescopes to watch wild life upclose. Big cranes arrived early november this year in numbers.
Ducks, storks, herons, cormorans...

Great little museum that showcases the history, process and origins of Manchego cheese. Attached is an art exhibit and a memorial to a local legend and bull fighter. Perhaps the best thing, it's free!

What a great small museum that explains the making of manchego cheese. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great cheese to purchase at the end of the self guided tour

Interesting museum if you are interested in cheese..art..Spanish history. Not just a cheese museum. The history of cheese making is there and a lot of the background to Manchego including the sheep.

Came after 17 years to watch the play El burlador de la sardina, as part of the International Classical Theatre Festival directed by Ignacio García. The Corral de Comedias dates back to the XVII century and is, together with the one in Alcalá de Henares, the oldest in the world. These were the first theatres, contemporary of Shakespeare’s original Globe, where people would use the patios between houses to represent plays. If the plays were successful, lots of people came by horse, reason for which you still tell actors and actresses, directors and technical staff, when you’re about to do a play, the phrase “Mucha mierda.”
Anand Enebral — Google review
Classic spanish theater. Offers guided visits. It is an inner "patio" of old houses, where audience occupies the ground floor and the balconies in small wooden chairs. No roof, just covered with some awning to protect from sun (or cold days). Plays are also centuries old. An interesting experience.

A must if you are travelling to Almagro! It is super worty. For 7 euros, you get a theatre show, really funny with great actors, and an explanation about how the theatre culture was born in Almagro and about the history of the place. The visit takes around 1h.

A piece of theatre history and Castillian culture that was almost lost in the mists of time. Nice visit with audioguide included in the price. Unfortunately not adapted for persons with reduced mobility, I'm afraid.

The theater is from the 16th century and it is very interesting to see.
Restaurante San Antonio Valdepeñas offers a taste of regional Spanish cuisine and an impressive selection of wines, all within the charming setting of an 18th-century building. The restaurant is highly regarded for its outstanding food, excellent service, and inviting ambiance. Diners can savor a variety of dishes, from exceptional risotto to delectable fish and tapas, complemented by a great wine collection.
The food was excellent, and at a fair price (€17.90 menu with 2 courses, bread, drink and dessert). I couldn't finish my cachopo and was offered to takeout.
Unfortunately the serving time was extremely high (almost 50 minutes waiting until the first dish), but they told us they had a problem at the kitchen and is not the norm. I believe them, and I still rate 5 stars because of the extremely good quality/price ratio. Just beware it's not a place to eat in 40 minutes.

Absolutely outstanding in every way, this place is one of the area's hidden treasures, which, if you're in the area, you cannot afford to miss. Ambiance, service and foodwise, very much worth the kilometers that many endure in order to reserve a table here. An outstanding risotto, great fish, tapas and - as behooves the area - a great wine selection. You will absolutely travel back in order to enjoy the varied items, a-la-carte or in a tapas-style experience. Try it once, and become a lifetime regular. Also great for that business occasion or important event, with an absolutely unbeatable price/quality balance, with which you will undoubtedly surprise your associates and guests. Do call well in advance.-

You can feel history in places like this. Old convent and castle. The guided visit is a must. The views from the top of the castle are impressive. It was intended to protect the pass to the north from muslims in the south. The road to the castle is really bad. Sharp uneven rocks give an ancient look but also the feel. You can break something in your car. 15minutes for 2km up the hill. Take care.

We thought it was well worth the visit and at €3 person, it's good value for money. You can do an audio guide via your phone or get a guided tour however probably only in Spanish. The history of Spain is wonderful (although they insist on not studying it) and from this great sailor Álvaro de Bazán, it is exciting.

Oleoturismo Jaén - San Francisco Oleícola S.L. offers an intimate and informative tour of a working oil mill near Baeza. The owners, Manuel and his brother, provide a personalized experience, guiding visitors through the olive trees and demonstrating the process of transforming olives into high-quality oil. The tour covers the history, production methods, and the qualities that distinguish extra virgin olive oil.
We came with our two kids and everyone enjoyed the visit. The lady doing the tour was very informative and engaging, allowing us to interact and have all of our questions answered. We now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for extra virgin olive oil. We bought our favorite oils for home and some olive beer that we're eager to try!

We took a private group tour to this small family oil producing factory and were treated to olive oil tasting, a small cooking course, an historical overview of olive oil production and finally a tour of the modern techniques currently used to produce olive oils. This region is the largest producer of olive oil in the world. Olive groves are everywhere! Our guide was very thorough and had an excellent grasp of english. One of the owners joined us for lunch and shared fun and delightful stories about growing up producing olive oil for human consumption.

Lovely experience in an old olive oil mill. There aren’t trees you can visit as it’s just a processing place though, but we enjoyed it all the same. Includes an olive oil tasting. Host was lovely. Has a cute shop with oils to buy!

We spontaneously visited this Oil Production Facility and it turned out to be an amazing and unique experience!
There are different guided tours in Spanish, French and English. The guided tour we took was just with the both of us and we learned a lot about the history, production and also the quality of olive oil. It was awesome seeing the old and new machines and realizing what a difference in quality and quantity this technological advances have made! We will never ever again leave our Olive Oil standing in the open sun or judge the Oil by its color. ;)
Moreover, you shouldn't leave this place without taking some of the unique and delicious products sold in the small shop with you. :)

My husband and I love olive oil and have always been curious about the process. We wanted to do a tour that was not part of a bus tour but something more intimate. Manuel and his brother own the plant and he led us on a tour of the olive trees, showing us how, when and why they harvest them and then back to the plant to show us the transformation from olive to oil. We had a tasting at the end which was illuminating. My only regret is that I didn't buy more olive oil at their well-stocked store. Luckily the olive oil is also available on line!
Karen — Google review
We stopped by without reservation in an attempt to get a tour and tasting of olive oil. Unfortunately the official full guided tours where full when we arrived. However we still got a short tour and explanation of the factory. Good experience and very interesting. But I definitely recommend to book in advance and also go for tasting if possible.
Anders Tonning — Google review
Had a great time and has the added bonus of watching the machines in action at sundown (from the olive being unloaded and funneled into a hopper, separated from the branches, washed, etc)
Luis has inherited this business from his father and has won many international awards for his extra virgin olive oil. He was a hospitable guide, fluent in english, and shared insight into the art of olive oil tasting and how olive oils are critiqued and the care it takes to ensure his product is top quality.
Delicious educational and fun!

Andy Cowie — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the cave. The guide was very friendly and his English was surprisingly good, based on other reviews - certainly good enough to explain and illuminate the experience. The steps are going to be a real challenge for anyone not in good health, but don't worry about bats. I saw only two - one flying, one asleep, and neither got in my hair.
The drive up to the caves is part of the experience. A winding, hillside route affords great views of the beautiful pueblo blanco of Zuheros.
Take a picnic for the viewpoints on the high road, and a few beers beside the castle will make your trip complete - if you're not the one who has to drive home.
Robert MacCombe — Google review
We love bats, and were really excited when we found out about this place.
Thus we called in the morning in order to book for the afternoon, and we went there, through the small country road up the hills.
We arrived there... and it was deserted. Nobody at all, nothing. We called again, and this time the lady told us to come the following day, because they were closed. Well, thank you very much for accepting a booking on an empty date...
Obviously we weren't able to come back another day 😐😐😐

The chocolate is fantastic quality and I loved the variety such as blueberry and banana.
There is an English menu on the reverse of the Spanish menu which is very helpful when ordering. The staff were very accommodating around the language barrier but were friendly and welcoming.
You also get a small packet of testers which I liked, although this does contain a piece with nuts.
They also sell milkshakes and ice cream in a wide variety of flavours.
The kitchen is behind the counter, where they make the chocolate, and there is information about the chocolate in the entry hallway, although this is in Spanish.

Our bikes were high quality, and the rides had multiple options tailored to how we were feeling each day. The hotels selected along the journey were stellar. We fell in love with each one, and they were hotels we never would have found on our own. Truly incredible. Lastly, the company (especially Maggi) was highly attentive and kind - making sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for a unique vacation experience that is turn key, without doubt use Cycling Country. We will certainly be using them again!

Flew over from Brooklyn, NY for a trip with my son & myself self-guided tour. Amazing time thanks to Geoff, Maggi & team, great places to stay and rolling with us and being reactive and flexible as we dealt with unexpected weather conditions. Highly recommend!

Cycling Country is a great tour company to hire if you love to cycle and seek a bit of convenience. We saw the countryside and got away from the usual tourist traps. We loved the professionalism, flexibility, detailed itinerary, seamless luggage transitions and various lodgings offered by Cycling Country staff. As a family, we all had quality bikes (combination road and electric). It was a fantastic family trip since we like to maintain fitness while traveling the world! HIGHLY recommend Cycling Country!! [from the USA and UK, traveled in late March 2022]

We had the best time on the March 2023 Olive Trails tour. Beautiful villages, lodging and and incredible food. You definitely get the feeling that this is a family run rather than a large, impersonal tour company. Geoff and Maggie do a great job of creating unique cultural and riding experiences in areas they have come to know and love so well. We hope to tour with Cycling County again in the future!

Julie and I had an incredible time riding with our group and leaders on the roads and race course of La Vuelta. Geoff, Dean, Jose and Santi are not only fun and interesting to travel with but go way beyond expectations to make us comfortable and ready to ride! The hotels we stayed at are amazing as are the meals we enjoyed. The VIP access to the pros was sick! Kudos Cycling Country!! Kuss, Kuss, Kuss!!!

I can't give enough stars for the expertise and experience of our team. The entire staff was beyond compare. The routes and experiences through the northern Spain region were unforgettable. If you ever need to find a great company to lead your trip, this is the one for any cyclist.

My husband and I just finished the absolutely fantastic Cycle to the Med self-guided bike trip from Cycling Country. I cannot say enough good things about working with this company and its fabulous owners, Geoff and Maggi. From my first email inquiry to the amazing end-of-ride lunch spot they recommended and everything in between, it was a flawless, top-notch experience. This route is a newer offering for them, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The scenery was beautiful and varied. There was mix of challenging climbs, thrilling descents and breathtaking coastal riding. The hotels were all excellent--and quite different. Geoff and Maggi were super accommodating and worked with us (even mid-ride) to tweak a few things. They clearly know the area inside and out, and all of their restaurant recommendations and points of interest were divine! Highly recommend!

The Portugal tour ALENTEJO was amazing, weather was perfect in March/April timeframe, very nice scenery, spectacular hotel/castle, amazing food. Tour offer a good variety of landscape, some challenging at times but all well worth it. I can't get over the magnificent Castle and former Monastery we stayed in, just the hotel alone are worth the trip!!!. It was a guided tour and Geoff was fantastic and very helpful and knowledgeable about the places visited and all around way of life there. A must do…

My husband and I are back from our biking trip in Portugal with a suitcase full of wonderful memories.
I would like to thank Cycling Country for the amazing organization that they provided to make our trip go as smoothly as it did. The bikes were very comfortable and in great condition (thank you for the special Dutch-style bikes – they were great!) and well equipped with emergency tools. They really thought of everything we might need along the road. The "Ride with GPS" navigation was very easy to follow and had lots of interesting tips and useful information. Also the hotels were all very nice and in great locations. In addition, the support we received before and during the trip was first class. Above all, the scenery was fantastic and the trails very varied along the coast, through beautiful parks and interesting places. I highly recommend both the trip and Cycling Country as the organizers.

Absolutely brilliant, fun way to see Nerja. Really enjoyable, the guide was lovely, the route was good. Instruction was spot on, even for total beginners. It's quite costly for a holiday activity, but personally I thought it was good value for money and well worth it. I'd very much recommend them - next time I think we'll go for a Segway tour of Granada!

We had a most enjoyable trip to Ronda with David driving and commenting. His info was great and given with great humour. He knows his stuff.
What a fabulous day! We heartily recommend this group to others.

Really loved it, your guide Sam couldn't be more accomodating. I was sceptical being a family of very different interests but all 3 of us loved it. My advise to a novice is Don't doubt yourself and your capabilities of manouvring -it was so easy after a few minutes. I avoided a segway tour in many cities but I will now do it every time. Cannot recommend enough. A+++

Excellent clean beach, showers included + promenade

A nice long beach with promenade just off main road. Lots of restaurants & cafes and a few shops. More found in the side streets leading to main road. There is a small children's play area on the prom. Large car park beside the Riu hotel(now changed its name,) giving access to the beach. Various areas renting loungers and shades .

I have to admit that I had never ventured to Torrox Costa beach before I was stunned by the fact of just how nice it is. The beach is just a few miles away from Nerja and it is a long level stretch of sand that goes for miles. It is skirted by a wonderful flat promenade with resturants, cafe bars, children's play areas with just a few feet of the sand. I can't recommend this area highly enough because it is a shining example of how a beach resort should be. It is perfect people with disabilities through to families with young children.
