Pärnu Beach is a vibrant seaside destination boasting a lively pedestrian promenade, playground, and splash pad. Its main attraction is the long and wide sandy beach adorned with volleyball courts, cafes, and changing cubicles. A meandering path runs parallel to the beach and features fountains, park benches, and an excellent playground. Along Ranna pst avenue lie early-20th-century buildings that offer an eclectic charm to visitors.
Good plece to enjoy the winter when spring is everywhere.
Zanda Skuji?a — Google review
It's not quite summer, but -18°c in deep winter! There is a lot to see on Pärnu beach, the bay is frozen, people are walking and enjoying the sunset!
Mairis Krūmiņš — Google review
Very windy and uncomfortable place, I did not enjoy the see
Ilya Skoryak — Google review
Long, clean beach. Was completely empty in September.
The water is very shallow: after 20m, my ankle was not completely under water. Probably a good thing if you want a photo of you walking on the water.
Laurent Le Brun — Google review
It’s undoubtedly one of my top three beaches in Estonia. It’s crowded, really crowded during the peak season but it’s so because a reason. It’s freshly renovated and upgraded with small bars and cozy sitting areas. Water is warm and it gets deep reasonably fast. Writing that review makes me missing the summer
Keio Usai — Google review
Shallow calm clean sandy beach. Perfect for children. Not so many restaurant or lounger options on the beach therefore bringing own mat and supplies might be a good idea.
adhisma das — Google review
I don't know how to swim, so I usually like shallow beaches.. Parnu, like most of the Baltic beaches, is shallow, and walking along the beach felt so good. It was a bit cloudy when we visited, but there were many families visiting, enjoying the last days of Summer. Whole area was well kept and the beach looked very clean. There could be more semi shower stalls to wash -off
Hema K — Google review
The beach is clean and nice, there are toilets and changing cabins. But the sea is very shallow, you have to walk very far to swim - good for children, but bad for adults
Alexandra Grishechko — Google review
An amazing place to visit also during the winter. The frozen Baltic Sea is breathtaking, and the area is full of amazing wildlife!
Ofek Jerassi — Google review
Beautiful beach - very spacious and lots of food and activities options and bars. It is very lively
Kharuna Ramrukheea — Google review
Nice but they have an official warning not to swim. In whole Europe super hot, also in neighborhood countries but in Pärnu very windy and cloudy, we hat to wear warm clothes.
Liga K — Google review
A beautiful beach with breathtaking views of sunset.
Beach is clean and with every basic facility available. Sand is white, water is crystal clear.
Nice clothes changing boxes are available with a lot of sitting places available around them.
Overall a must visit beach to explore in Estonia.

Tylösand is a stunning 7 kilometer-long sandy beach that is popular among sunbathers and swimmers, with its borders lined with dunes. The beach boasts great sand quality and ample parking space. Visitors can enjoy watching lifeguards train on the beach, making it a lively place to be. While the weather may impact the experience, Tylösand's natural beauty makes it worth visiting even during colder months.
Extremely beautiful beach great sand great parking was down there when the lifeguards were training and practising extremely good to watch them do their thing happy that they’re there The beach looks like it must be better on a sunny day but still cloudy Swedish weather day it is a very nice beach I would actually rated and compare it to an Australian beach it is a really really nice beach

Lovely beach with soft sand, beautiful view and enough space even when it is busy. There are some beach bars here and there and there are even toilets and showers.
(According to the locals, the sand is of better quality than that of Hawaii beach).
At the beginning of the beach you can sit on the rocks and further on you can play volleyball or football with the placed nets and goals.
The only drawback is that many jellyfish wash up later in the day, but if you watch out for this, it is a wonderful beach!

Lovely place to visit when you are in Halmstad. It's beautiful even during the winter and spring. So many trails 👣 where you can walk, looking at the sea 🌊

Nice beach in Halmstad. The water is very quiet and clean. It is a four-kilometre-long beach. It has been named Sweden’s best beach time and time again. You can even enjoy a walk and find Tjuvahålan and Svärjarehålan. The two bays have a small beach, rocks and a jetty – perfect for a nice walk with friends and family.

Nice beach with a refreshing vista. Not too posh although it's close to a very fancy hotel. As it is with the west coast, very fresh water but be prepared for lower temps than usual.

This beach was unexpectedly great! Best time to visit is on Midsummer.
The weather was nice and the sunset was around 9pm-10pm. You must not miss the beautiful horizon!
The water was quite cold at first but then very refreshing. We met lots of jellyfish (not dangerous) and shell near the shore. The beach got a little crowded around 4pm-5pm (after work). These caused long queue to the only snackbar/kiosk nearby.
Innesa Nathalie Sumalnap — Google review
We came here a day when the forecast promised rain but the sun was shining so we were pretty much alone. Amazingly wide sand beach with a lot of space for many guests. Pretty shallow water, great for the kids. Some kiosks around for Icecream and snacks.

A huuuge shopping center 🏬 might say it’s almost a signature of Sweden, have never met any Swede who never heard about it... yet 😅 It has kind of everything you might look for… and at least doubled you never thought of… or didn’t even know existed 🥴
I will praise you if you can visit and exit empty handed 😉
Today I was mostly looking for motorhome stuff 🚐… and some yummies 😋 and the pics I took are only a small selection of all they sell. I love this store!
It’s easy to visit by motorhome and caravan as well, there’s a special parking, spacious enough to park easy and convenient 🅿️😊👍

Love this place!!! Pretty much has everything. Could easily spend a couple of hours shopping in here. Loads of places to eat and be merry. The television show is great too!
Real World Photographs. — Google review
Where to start?? I will cover what I haven't seen in other reviews
1. Be there early. Preferably on a week day where hopefully the crowd will be less. We visited on a Tuesday from 3pm to 6pm and it was still crowded
2. Have a Swedish coin with you for the trolley. You can't do without a trolley.
3. Prepare to spend about 6 hours if that is your first time.
4. There was dinning inside, we ate at an buffet restaurant beside the Gekas, but we suspect the food would have been cheaper inside the Gekas. Like ikea dinning
5. There are other shops, outside and around Gekas. I.e outlet stores apart from Gekas. I visited only Panduro because I like arts and craft pieces. Prices were cheap but not a lot of options like a real panduro. Those stores might be worth visiting, which means an additional time apart from the 6hrs inside Gekas
6. There Is a hotel about 200metres from Gekas. Might be worth looking into spending the night as opposed to making it a day trip. One day just doenst seem enough to come all the way especially if it is your first time.

This is a Swedish institution! It is very big and it takes many hours to walk around here and look at goods!
Found asome cheap offersbut also many more expensive ones! Everything you can think of is here! People travel from far away to shop here! I dont understand that equation! Some things are cheap, but I don't see a cost saving to drive 30-40 miles, which in itself costs a lot too!
Lots of people and sometimes chaotic when you have to keep track of the shopping cart and your company and cruise around between hundreds of other shopping carts!
Efficient checkout lines! lots of places to eat, both inside the department store itself, and outside in connection to the building!
Rob — Google review
A lot of space, nice stuff to buy, and the sports- cafe! Good salads and amazing cupcakes! No ps5 for sale, but other than that, a cool place to visit for sure. There’s a camping parking spot and big lots. No worries

So many items to shop, Mind will be bombarded for first timers, Need to plan and lost down items and go to that section and buy, thats it. I felt Many items are less price compare to other place .
There are 2 restaurant to eat.

This time around it was great. Not a lot of people, space to move around, got some great deals. Parking close by.
The food could have been better though.
Usually it is extremely crowded and people are just everywhere.
Remember to wear good walking shoes and ALWAYS take a picture of your shopping carts number in the front.
Placing shopping baskets under and in your cart is the best way to make your shopping experience 100%...

We were first time here. This was an experience for us we were from Stockholm bit far for us. Really big store you need to plan to spend a full day here. We were there for 5 hours we were really tired. It’s bit difficult find a staff and staff was not great helpful but worked.
Jose Maxwell — Google review
Very crowded place could move a meter without stopping and trying to get a bite yo eat is a struggle inside. Other than that it's a great place to save tons of money. Specially shopping for the holidays. There's everything you need or want.
Chrisss — Google review
One big store where you can get almost everything. From food, toys, makeup, clothes and even plants. So if you like shopping and a lot of people in one place, this is perfect for you. Low prices. You can shop all day and get food inside the store while your cart is placed outside the cafe (inside the store). The store is in the midle of nowhere, so it's a long drive... But the sorrounding town of Ullared has hotels and restaurants. Unike shopping experience...
Cecilie Moland Kristiansen — Google review
IF you get there e a r l y the check-out area can look like this!
But, it's more common to be in the line for about 1 hour...unless it's pay weekend, Christmas time and weekend!..then you should bring drinks and snacks!
It's a huge store. Huge. The hour will fly while you walk around department after department. A lot of useful things and good prices but also loads of less needed stuff! Dun, but less necessary. Stick to your list!
Just saw a battery driven Advent light w a remote control...Now THAT is taking everything sacred about Xmas to another level?
OK food and good prices.
Karin — Google review
After many years, I finally went to Ullared and i could say that it was hard. It's huge and really easy to get lost so make sure that at the entrance you take a map so you don't waste your time. This is not a place where i would go often, I don't like that much of a crowded place. Make sure you need to put a list and then go shopping, lots of things have got discounted prices from clothes to normal everyday stuff.
edina hotic — Google review
What a store, unbelievable experience!! Never thought such a store exists in Sweden. Never have I been to such a large store with so much different things! They literally have everything, outdoor furniture, shampoo, breads and soo much more! As a tourist you have to visit this place.

Zoo with naturalistic enclosures housing Nordic animals & a petting zoo, play areas & water slides.
Was pleasantly surprised! Specially that we got to see the dinosaur exhibition.
The place is well organized for kids’ adventures. There are Nordic animals too, they have quite large habitats and show up when they show up and I actually like that. Kids can really enjoy the place and the dinosaurs were way more than expected- real size reproductions/ they seemed so real.

Dont miss the expedition up, its fun! overall the place is very clean and cool! great place to take your kids. you also have the option to camp in the park premises
Gowri Shankar Sukumar — Google review
A wonderful experience. Lots to do with your children. Both educational and with interesting playgrounds. Unfortunately the weather was too good. Most of the animals was relaxing in the shadow, where i could not see. them.Furthermore there was a 350 m long swaying suspension bridge with wiew over the wood. The dinosaur park was also good.
VERNER ORY — Google review
Nice place for families with younger children. Facilities are good and the entire park is contact free.
There are camping option that must be booked in advance. Pre booking of tickets is recommended.
There are some eating options available in the park but only a few are open due to pandemic.
You can bring your own food and barbecue options are available as well.
A word of caution - not all animals show up easily, especially for small children, they may not be able to locate them.
Arushi Dadhwal — Google review
Very expensive ticket if you buy less than 2 weeks ahead, in season, on weekend : 30 euros per person, including children. Parking another 4.5 euros, plus a lot of other ways to get money off the visitor. Very crowded on weekends. The area is huge and has many attractions, but if it is crowded, you cannot benefit. Goats welcome you as you enter. Using a toilet the water tank had no pressure, it was smelly. The animals and their habitats are nice, but not comparable to a big city zoo. There is a Dino park as well and many workshop places. Paths at tree level are pleasant to cross and give nice views. More English panels required. Not worth it if you stay under 2 hours probably.
Cristi — Google review
Huge territory. Skånes djurpark is much more than just a zoo. It is a whole experience with many many activities for both children and adults. Administration always comes up with new interesting activities so it is fun to visit the park every year. There is plenty of parking, toilets, places to grab a bite and grill your own food. Worth the money.
Viktorya Joakim — Google review
Perfect place for outdoor activities. You can easily keep your kids busy. We had a great day and kids were very happy. They have restricted numbers of visitors due to corona virus. I was bit worried as it was fully booked and thought it would be crowded. But it was well managed, peoples were widely spread. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to park authorities for nice management. Love the place and definitely visit again.
Mukul Hossain — Google review
Totally recommend. It's a zoo but it's also a giant nature reserve. The animals seem to have really good conditions and live in their natural habitat. It's an opportunity to experience spices like wolverine, bison, bear and moose. One can bring their own picnic basket or grill ,or better yet taste the food at the local restaurant, not bad at all. Make sure you download the weiq app in advance , makes ordering easier.

We stayed overnight at their wild lodge hillside accommodation with our 5yo son. A wonderful way to enjoy the park and all the animals. A perfect family adventure! Excellent service. Very kind and helpful staff. Lovely setting. Kids and family friendly. Definitely worth the visit ! The animals are very well cared for and the facilities seemed very well maintained. Big thank you to staff for making this a memorable family experience!
Johanna NF — Google review
It was our second visit, the last time was 2021. I would love to give 5 stars, however because of the loud music from the dinosaur part, I had to take one star away.
All the other things in the park are awesome! We enjoyed every little bit, we saw almost every animal and we will be back as well! A definite recommendation to familys and couples or singles.
In 2021 we enjoyed the silence in the park and only hearing the animals around you. Especially during mating time. Now it was also paired with the sounds from the dinosaurs and it was distracting. Actually, really annoying.
We are childless, but I can imagine that it is a great experience for the kids, the dinosaurs. I just wish it would be more in the background (soundwise).
Martje Loge — Google review
Very nice zoo with Nordic animals. Overnight stay is really recommended for the evening walk and feeding when the park is closed and silent (with animals being more visible and active). Don't expect much of for the food 🌭🍔, even though the free sodas and ice-cream makes up for some of it. Overall very positively surprised about the overall experience. Have tried similar in other zoos, and even though the animals might not be as exotic, it's still one of the best zoo experiences I've had.
Nick Niebling — Google review
We stayed overnight and loved our time! Great access to the park after hours with the package! The Glamping accommodations were very comfortable, the staff helpful, food nice and even unlimited ice cream! My wife & I would definitely recommend a getaway here!
Ryan Stevens — Google review
Nice place to spend a day with kids and family. But ticket prices are quite high. Got to see few domestic and wild animals, along with Dinosaur land which was really exciting. We bought tickets online in advance, i think offline purchasing is bit expensive. One easily takes 3 to 4 hours to cover the whole park. There is a small beach also in the park which can be easily located with the map they provide you. Overall an average experience.
Shweta Chitkara Verma — Google review
It's more like a park than a zoo. Not so many special animals.
The ticket price varied from 200-320sek.
Easy to go around with stroller.
Map is confusing unless using it in the app.
Resturant choices were limited
Borås Zoo is home to 65 species, featuring naturalistic enclosures for African savannah beasts and Nordic animals. The zoo offers a diverse range of wildlife from different regions. It's a great place to observe and learn about various species in well-designed habitats. Whether you're interested in the majestic creatures of the African savannah or the unique animals native to Nordic regions, Borås Zoo provides an opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures up close.
Nice, not so big, zoo. Wide spaces for most of the animals. Very clean and well kept. It takes about 3 hours to visit the zoo entirely. Great views from the entrance walking bridge. Not very crowded, tickets can be bought in place with little to no wait.
Lorenzo — Google review
One of the best family-friendly zoo experiences in Sweden. Not as vast and expansive as the Kolmården Zoo or Öland Zoo, but still with a large selection of African, Asian and European animals.
The size of the animal enclosures are on par with the standard size of other Swedish zoos. Visibility ranges from poor (wolves, lynx and a few other) to excellent (bears, African Savannah, buffaloes).
There are plenty of playgrounds, benches and resting stops scattered around the zoo, but the main playground and play fountains are concentrated at Simba's playground. If I could ask for one thing though, it would be a denser coverage of WC's, especially with changing tables.
There are several kiosks and restaurants around the park, but the information on what each stand is selling is extremely sparse. Looking at the map will only tell you it is serving food, not whether that is only ice cream, hot dogs, anything vegetarian or dinner.
By the entrance, there is a dinosaur park as well as a giant causeway which lands by the African Savannah. The dinosaur park was not that impressive, with both a rather limited selection of statues and an outdated view on how we thought dinosaurs looked 30 years ago. The causeway on the other hand is impressive with a spectacular view, though sadly you can pretty much only spot African wild dogs from the causeway.
I would strongly advice that you arrive later in the day. You may miss out on a few of the animal feedings, but the park will be virtually empty for you. No waiting to order food, board the train or get a seat at a table. No crowding by the popular animals in order to get a quick glimpse. And as a bonus, there will be friendly and helpful staff around nearly everywhere, who are more than willing to tell you about the animals. You can easily walk through the park in 2-3 hours and view all the animals in near privacy if you do it after the morning buzz has died down a little.
During the ongoing Corona pandemic, some restrictions may apply. When we visited, the monkey palace as well as the predator house was closed. However, both lions and tigers were out and about and could be viewed from the sides of their respective enclosure. Hand sanitizers were widely available and clearly marked.
Aron Cederholm — Google review
The zoo has a big variety of different animals. There's also food places where you can choose to get a buffet or buy some pancakes or get some sandwiches. It could have had a place for snakes and tarantulas. But overall quite a good experience
Daniil — Google review
One of the better zoos in Sweden I'd say, some of the animal habitats seem downright luxurious in comparison to the habitat of the same species in comparable zoos (the bears especially, cubs seemed quite happy and playful!).
Very photography-friendly enclosures, most of them at least. Would have liked to see some of the animals have access to some more privacy though.
Easy to navigate, wide range of species.
Lacks a larger variety of birds, perhaps.
Bring your camera(s), I couldn't but wish I did.
L L (Luke) — Google review
Very good zoo. Usually when going to a zoo you feel bad about the animals, but here the majority of the animals seems to have it good.
Great variety, from the savanna to animals of the nordics.
My favourite are the beers, and cheetahs.
I’ve never seen a lynx here in my whole life, start to doubt that they exist 😅
If you go, buy a season card, definitely worth the money!

Nicely arranged zoo. It is recommended to pass through the bridge directly to Savana. We liked that animals are in open areas. There are also a lot of play grounds for children and food courts. Pets are not allowed however what I liked is that my question was answered straight away in instagram.

Stenshuvud's National Park is a serene sanctuary where lush deciduous forests meet pristine white-sand beaches, offering an idyllic setting for swimming, hiking, and picnicking. Situated in Osterlen, the park provides breathtaking panoramic views of the coast and surrounding landscapes. While planning is essential due to the vast area and limited amenities, visitors can enjoy leisurely walks through beautiful woodlands, take in stunning viewpoints, and relax on the sandy beach.
Beautiful place, accessible for everyone. Perfect for beach goes, nature lovers and seasoned hikers. Amazing in al seasons.
The water is cold. Like very cold, even in summer. Note that dogs are not allowed on the main beach in summer.

This is a truly stunning spot in Österlen, giving a great overview over the coast and the surroundings.
Since the entire area is vast, some planning is required to figure out what path to take and where the restrooms might be. There are no amenities close by and you should plan accordingly.
Depending on the time of year it can also get chilly and windy at the top. A windbreaker is recommended during fall.

To be honest i was amazed.
It's just a great place.

It was fall when I visited this place. There were plenty of colorful trees and a lot of birds rammaging through the leaves. I love it 😀

I have been to other Naturms and so far this one is my favourite one. The shop is small but nice. It has postcards, some children’s books and other interesting things. I stopped by while I was hiking. They have some things in English so that was also really nice.

I think one of the loveliest place in Scandinavia. The beach was quite empty for a weekend and the nature trial was refreshing. 10/10 will come back… there is ample car parking as well.
Water & theme park with slides, flumes, a go karting area & live entertainment stunt shows.
Amazing amusement park with plenty of options to dine and enjoy family fun. The waterpark, the largest in Scandinavia, is massive with a new, big attraction, called Waka Waka, this year, but the Tranen rollercoaster, the go-chart tracks, the «Vikingship» and lots of other carousels and rollercoasters gave us plenty of fun.

Skara Sommarland exceeded all of my expectations and truly turned my summer into an unforgettable adventure! From start to finish, this amusement park delivered on every front and provided a perfect blend of excitement, relaxation, and family fun.

A fantastic park, but it is not dimensioned correctly how many visitors it should take. We loved the attractions, but too long time waiting in the queue was not pleasant. Maybe combination of pandemic situation there many Swedes stay in Sweden, great weather during 3rd week of July 2021 ... what so ever, too many people in the water park. My son (9 years old) enjoyed it anyhow, although we got only possibility for 3 attractions, (too long time to wait in the queue) so maybe next time (if it happens) we will be very selective with the time to visit this great park.

After checking their website and making sure all their rides were functioning, my family and I booked a hotel, and purchased a two day pass to the park. First day we spent at the water park, and even though the rules are a free-for-all it was still very nice and my kids had a great time. However on the second day, six of the dry attractions were completely closed, absolutely limiting what our children could enjoy. We immediately went to guest services, because had this been what was described on their site, we would have only bought a one day pass and not needed a hotel. Guest services instructed us to contact via email, zero reply from Sommerland. Before we left one of the closed rides opened, so we got one more in before leaving. Lots of extra money spent and time lost. I've been going to theme parks my entire upbringing, and I have never gone to a park to find six rides closed. My recommendation, skip the dry attractions and just do the water park. And don't expect much from guest services other than free ice cream.

Must go place during summer time with kids. We enjoyed all water rides. Some rides require 140cms or more.

The three most fun attractions were closed, so the kids were very disappointed.
However, there was free go cart, and that saved the whole visit.

You need to experience it to believe it. Awesome rides for all age groups. Please note for many water rides, minimum hight is 140 cms. Don't miss big drop and cobra ride, they truly make your adrenaline run double the speed. Do enjoy food at Taco restaurants. Just you know, you can rent wetsuit and arm floaties for kids. You must not miss Flaming, Fiery High Diver. Pirate Show.

In mid-June there are no waiting lines (!) and as it were we had great luck with the weather 😊. Also: props to the personell that let us in although I (by mistake) booked the previous day. Very price worthy and the aqua land is great. Worth a two days stay.

It was my first time going to this place and I was excited. The place was so great and we had a great time at the water park. But when we went to som arcade/games stuff, some of the workers weren't paying attention to their job that they let some of their friends talk with(while working) while we (costumer) instead of getting excited to do the games we wanted, we kinda feel sad since the worker's friends were there talking with them during work time. :(... we pay to enjoy the games, but sometimes the staff don't even what they are doing :((

Örebro Castle, a riverside medieval fortress, has stood for over seven centuries as a dominant feature of the city's skyline. Originally built as a defense castle and later transformed into a royal residence, it now serves as the home of the county governor. Visitors can explore its history through guided tours and family-friendly activities. The surrounding area offers picturesque views and dining options, making it an ideal destination for an enriching day out.
Örebro Castle is beautiful and acts as a central point for the city. The castle ground itself is really interesting, as well as the various exhibitions that you can see inside. The staff is very friendly and is happy to help you. My overall experience was great, and I would happily come back time after time.

BEAUTIFUL AND MAJESTIC - A fine center for a city that has a lot to offer. The Örebro Castle is worth a walk around and the castle tour is fun. The only reason for 4/5 stars is because of the gift shop. It is loaded w cheap products from China and when one failed and we tried to return it, they resisted the refund and were snarky. Please, this is Sweden and it is loaded w crafts that are made LOCALLY. Utilize your resources to promote this beautiful country and get rid of the trinkets that can be found in every gift shop around the world.

Was there in the evening on a public holiday and the Castle was closed, It is in the city center. The surrounding area of the castle has a park and the sound of water flowing through this park is something you can spend hours listening to.
Overall it is a good place to explore.

The castle is extremely beautiful especially on the outside. A unique piece of preserved cultural heritage, unfortunately the exhibition lacks in terms of substance. The artworks are few and the rooms are mostly empty, I feel there's a missed opportunity here considering the building's long history and there is room for improvement. Additionally a bit more difficult than necessary to find wardrobe space.

Very beautiful castle outside and inside. That said we have arrived 3 days before the grand new exhibition, the reception people told us 3/4 of the castle was closed. Don't know what to say about that, we saw a bunch of rooms showing the history of the castle, its style and some of the important people that passed by. Recommended

We did not arrange a guided tour but we have just met coincidentally a very nice guy from that region who was really familiar with the history of the castle and around. He explained a lot about the building as well as the family who lived there. How it was raised up and lot of other interesting things. Good to visit with family. Also the area around is very nice and you will definitely find a good place for lunch or dinner around.

We visited this castle in June 2023 as part of a couple’s trip in Sweden and it was a good experience. The castle is very pretty on the outside, as well as inside, and the tickets comes with a guided tour that’s very informative. We didn’t need to buy the tickets in advance, we purchased them on the day and there wasn’t any queue.

The Air Force Museum in Linkoping, Sweden is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and families. Located just 7km from the town, it boasts the largest aircraft collection in the country. The museum recently expanded with new exhibits and modern facilities, offering free entry for visitors under 18. It's a great place to explore Swedish military aircraft and learn about the country's aviation history. Families can enjoy kid-friendly activities while exploring this well-preserved piece of history.
An amazing place both for kids and adults. Huge space and lots to do in the lab. Great food at the restaurant! Unfortunately the flight simulator was closed due to Covid-19 even the restrictions were lifted in Sweden at the time of our visit.

While they do say on their website:
"Please note that due to rebuilding, some parts of the museum are closed."
What they do not say is that the "some parts" comprises 2/3rds of their collection! When they will be done with the renovations, it is not clear, just some time in 2022.
I have to deduct a couple stars for such a big impact not being made known, but aside from that, it really is a decent museum overall. The aircraft that were accessible are adequately spaced apart so you can wander around them.
Pros:
- Bus stops in either direction directly in front of the museum, and a large parking lot
- Museum restaurant is really good
- DC-3 Exhibit
- Captions for the Swedish documentaries
- Free Admission
Cons:
- 2/3rds of the aircraft being inaccessible
- Most of the non-aircraft exhibits were only in Swedish
If you have the option, I would visit the Aeroseum in Gothenburg until the renovations are complete at this museum.

I 100% recommend going here if you are around.

Good time to visit is around 11 Am and then you can spend a good amount of time there, otherwise it's closes at 4 PM except on Thursday where it closes at 7 PM.
There is a cafe, where you can have nice coffee and a good monumental thing to buy for your collection.

Astrid Lindgrens Värld is a child-friendly theme park located in Vimmerby, Sweden, where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Astrid Lindgren's beloved characters. The park features sets and characters from the author's books, live shows, and playgrounds set against the backdrop of Småland's nature. Visitors can explore Astrid Lindgren's childhood home at the nearby Nas farm.
There are several stages that actors play 20-30 mins stories from the books. The Pippishows very fun and even small children were sitting and enjoying them. There are so many details in this park from small themed houses with pretend toys to playgrounds.

Super interesting for children, and adults too! Interesting for children under 14 years old! It would be better to read fairy tales first, and then come here, then it will be very cool to be in this museum where everything is done as in the book! There is a journey in a small trailer through dramatizations and scenes from fairy tales. Amazing! Tickets are sold only with a bank card.

Great fun for the kids.
Everything feels genuine and the park is very nicely managed.

A beautiful place with a lot of very well made buildings and caves et.c. Kids love it! They also have some very good food at, for example, Majkens kök. For a grown up man the place may become a bit boring after a few hours and you will want to spend the entire day there after paying the rather expensive entry fee. I didn't watch any plays, but others said they were very good. Place has several ice cream and candy shops. I bought some very good candy there and some, not so special, ice cream. I was also very surprised that the ice cream lady didn't want to speak Swedish, but kept constantly changing to English.
If you decide to go here, you will most likely be positively surprised. It is beautiful.

The actors were unexpectedly good. There were a few cringe moments, but overall loved it even if I'm not the biggest fan of AL's stuff. I went in the summer of 2022 so be aware the actors do change.

Great place for a fun day out with kids.
I actually expected a bit more of it, had imagined it to be more interactive, something like a book connected, however still it was a nice day.
The only thing that can be bothering are the crowds of people and the fact that the adults instead of give space to the kids by the shows in each station are just standing there blocking the view behaving like they are the only ones there.
For the rest well maintained and nice place to spend a day with you kids if they know the books (or not).

Although all the shows are in Swedish, we enjoyed everything that day. Knowing the stories Lindgren wrote allowed us to understand everything. The scenery of the park is splendid and what is special is that you can visit all the buildings and touch everything. Children can really play in the settings. The decoration is done with lots of details and is truly worth seeing. Outside, the decorative plantings are magnificent. Everything is very harmonious.

It is a theme park featuring Astrid Lindgren's book characters in their small worlds. In the summer the park has a very busy program full of 30-minute theatrical/musical shows scattered on different stages. Most of the shows are scheduled twice a day, some only once. It is impossible to see them all in one day, since some run simultaneously. The program is subject to changes according to season, so check their website. Everything is in Swedish, but if you are a big fan of Lindgren's stories and know them by heart, it is not a problem at all. It is fun and the performances are very professional. The stage areas are miniature worlds from the books and really make you feel part of the stories. The shows include special effects and animals.
There are a lot of places and playgrounds to visit, streets to wander and corners to discover. We were there the whole day from the opening to closing time (and you should, too) and couldn't see it all, because the performances took most of the time. There are places to eat and buy special edition snacks, but you can bring in your own food and use one of many picnic areas. The prices are actually the same as everywhere else, some ice creams had normal supermarket prices. If you visit in the summer, then the park is full of visitors and you might not get a good seat to all the shows, especially the grande finale in the evening. A great friendly park for families with children!

Astrid Lindgren World is a must visit if you like her work and has fantastic live theater. You can also visit all of her books places with fantastic real life representation. But I would recommend to visit the park in the late summer because how popular it gets, if you can arrange that great. But if you can't I still recommend going because how good it is even if it's crowded, because it's a experience for you and if you have the kids. 🤩

It was our second time here. 5 years ago it was just the same. The whole park is just lovely. Having grown up with Astrid Lindgrens beloved stories my wife and I want our four children to experience her world.
The park is a delight. Every detail is lovely. The actors (we love the shows) are living the act. It does not matter, that my kids and I do not speak any Swedish, the act itself is entertaining.
The park is huge but with a stroller no problem.
The price is high in entrance and food but it is a theme park so not unexpected.
We really had a great time, both times being here. Sure do recommend it for families with kids!
Seasonal wildlife park with tigers, a dolphin show, cable car rides, a safari camp & a petting zoo.
So awesome place. So good for as escape from Stockholm or as family trip with kids. I just loved every bit of this place. Dolphin show is must you will not regret it as well as old roller coater is just awesome. It was great day trip from Stockholm to Kolmården zoo. There is plants of parking.

I really enjoyed Kolmården, especially sitting in the "skii lift" watching over the animals. Despite that animals should live in the wild, the enclosures were good for what it was, some animals had more space then others of course. I wasn't happy with the dolphin enclosure.. it was way to small. In general I had a great day, the weather was amazing and the view from one of the restaurant is super nice!!

Overall, a nice park with some great shows and a spectacular 20 minutes ride above the animal pens thanks to the safari cable car.
Animals have quite a bit of space and the caregivers we met are nice.
One thing that felt weird is, as much as the dolphin show is great, seeing these animals kept in an indoor swimming pool is a bit disappointing.

The animal variety is great, their enclosures are really big and unique. The rides are really well themed and Wildfire is a world class coaster! Kolmården Wildlife Park near the Norrköping, Sweden, is truly a remarkable and memorable place. One of the key highlights for me was the dedication and enthusiasm of all the staff members, which translates into a sense of responsibility that ensures visitors feel welcomed and cared for. Moreover, the park offers something for everyone, regardless of age or preference. From nostalgic reminiscences to new experiences, the Bamse park that had been one if my dream so far, safari cable car rides providing unforgettable views of animal habitats, encounters with endangered species prompting reflections on environmental conservation, dolphin shows, witches performances, and a plethora of other attractions, all come together to create a whimsical and enchanting memory for both children and adults alike. I highly recommend a visit to all nature enthusiasts. It's an experience unlike any other.

Kolmården has been on my ‘bucket list’ to visit for many years, mainly due to the installation of Wildfire. It’s in an absolutely beautiful setting, but it is quite difficult to reach from Stockholm by public transport, so the whole journey took about 2 or so hours.
The park itself is gigantic, but this means the animals all have big enclosures. They had pretty much every animal you could think of spread across the 1.5 square kilometre site. One of the highlights of the day was their amazing Safari that you experience on a cable car. It’s really a unique and exciting way to see an array of animals without feeling you’re disturbing them. There were Tigers, Giraffes, Bears and many more.
The other enclosures were also vast and there were lots of them, so make sure you leave plenty of time to explore them. Highlights include the Elephants, Rhinos and the charismatic Camels.
Now, on to the rides. We wondered through the children’s area ‘Bamse’s World’ which was utterly charming but not really what we were after. We had come for Wildfire, and I’m pleased to say, it did not disappoint. The roller coaster commands the skyline, and is truly a sight to behold. It rides both fast and fierce but also very smooth, and is exhilarating from start to finish. There are a few other children’s rides in the nearby Marine World area, but Wildfire is worth the entry fee alone.
The park is beautifully kept and well looked after, and there are some amazing and unique experiences to enjoy alongside the world class Wildfire. If you have the time, it’s well worth making the trip to experience Kolmården.

Wonderful place for entire family - especially for kids. We visited in early summer, all animals were active and enjoying the sun. The tiger kingdom is worth it. The rides are super fun. Can also stay overnight, but we did a day trip. Would definitely recommend.

We were here for the Halloween stuff, and while that did not disappoint - Värdshuset was the highlight - and while there's a lot to see and do here, it's very much a children's park. Was annoyed that Wildfire was not up and running "due to the weather" (no wind, no rain, so ... huh). Also, we bought the Halloween package with a hotel stay, and apparently those entrance tickets did not include any jetpasses, which is absurd. The website simply said that entrance tickets come with one jetpass each - so why don't the entrance tickets that come in a package do just that? Why give less to guests who pay more?

Wow, wonderful place to visit with family. The wildlife shows were simply spectacular! The Dolphin Show left me amazed with its jaw-dropping stunts and heartwarming interaction between the trainers and the dolphins. Located in Mariefred, a picturesque town on Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland (about 60 km west of Stockholm).
Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537. The renaissance castle offers romantic grounds, a fallow deer nature reserve and collections of furniture, handicrafts and interiors from four centuries.
Since Gustav Vasa, Gripsholm has belonged to the Swedish Royal Family and was used as one of their residences until the 18th century. It is now a museum, but still considered to be a palace at the disposal of the King and as such it is part of the Crown palaces in Sweden.
Take time to wander slowly through the many rooms and winding passages... See the Swedish State's collection of portraits – featuring prominent Swedes from the days of Gustav Vasa to present day musician and composer Benny Andersson. Visitors can also enjoy a royal stroll around the romantic castle grounds or meet the royal deer at the Hjorthagen nature reserve... and immerse yourself in Swedish history.
Opening hours:
May–September: Daily 10:00–16:00
October–November: Sat–Sun 12:00–15:00

Nice Swedish castle in a cute quaint town. Takes ~3hrs to see everything depending on how thorough and detailed in your observation you want to be.
This castle has a huge portrait and painting collection, which they actively add to with current royalty and political figures. The theatre inside is a must see, has a quiet otherworldly vibe.

Beautiful castle with an awesome painting collection. The rooms are very well preserved. It feels like traveling back in time, getting lost in the numerous rooms. Bring some time when visiting, there is lots to see. The tour (one English tour a day) gives a great overview and is amazing value for money (30sek for 1h and a great guide). But you can spend lots of time exploring the 3 different floors. One of the best castles I have been in as it really transports you back in time. The theater is stunning. The gardens are beautiful as well but don’t need as much time as the castle.

We brought a picnic and ate it outside which was nice. Plenty of ice cream shops nearby in Mariefred.

Just 30 mins from Södertalje. This is a good spot to spend the evening and view the sunset.
Unfortunately we reached when the castle was closed but the view of the garden and lake is also great.

Castle is kept in good condition from inside and outside. This is really the biggest portrait gallery I know - portraits from centuries ago until today. It takes definitely 2 hours to go through castle rooms filled with portraits.

Wooow, I was so surprised how beautiful it is from the inside. You pay entrance, not so expensive, and you can see all the castle.

The well-maintained gardens surrounding the castle add to its allure, providing a serene escape for leisurely strolls and scenic views. From the ornate architecture to the serene ambiance, Gripsholm Slot is a photographer's paradise.
The nostalgic charm of the vintage locomotive combined with the picturesque Swedish countryside made for a memorable journey. The attentive staff on board provided fascinating insights into the history of the train and the surrounding region, enriching the overall experience.
Child-friendly museum attraction where visitors learn about science through interactive experiments.
Excellent place - Fun + Learning.
Science behind everyday things explained in various rides and interactive games.
Superb place for young as well as old children and family - 2 to 12 years should have enough to explore.
Staff are very kind and helpful.
Lavatories are okay.
Tip: One should consider buying summer pass to experience all the rides and games, as one visit may not suffice.
First time travellers- if you are taking Bus from Sodertalje centrum, watch out for the correct direction. I had gone in the wrong direction before correcting myself after a stop :)

The best children museum I have ever been to! You can spend here the entire day, and still not to see everything. The cafeteria has a good verity of basic meals. Entree fee is a bit pricey but worth every penny. If you plan to come at least 3 times a year, you should buy the yearly subscription. We will definitely come back again and again!

Nice and educative museum for kids. It’s really recommended to go on a weekday if possible, to have less of a crowd. However, slightly overpriced if going as a family. But very friendly staff and a nice learning day for kids (would recommend for the age of 7 and up, to fully understand the different elements and learn). But the kids can easily spend a full day and luckily there are a cafe and restaurant that fits all.

I would definitely recommend visiting. Both fun and learning place. Definitely need at least 3-4 hours to explore.

We were there during the school break and it was lots of cars in the parking. The experiments were good and interesting and we liked it. About the disability parking, they just have two and it was full. It will be good to have more.. otherwise the facility was wheelchair friendly.

It was a great place for my school-age kid to explore. But it was fun for me too. Making bubbles and the bubble show was fun and interesting. My son's favorites were probably the slide where one enters a huge mouth and the different screens where one can see himself as a colorful silhouette.

Nice place to go with your children. I was there with my 11 year old daughter...She enjoyed the experiments very much

This is a haven for kids to learn and have fun! Their most important rule was “don’t have your hands inside your pockets” meaning “explore everything!”. The children had a wonderful time here as did we!

By far, the best entertainment park in Stockholm. Fun, crative, cool, entertaining, beautiful and very smartly planned. With lots and lots and lots of different, harder and easier, quieter and louder, fascinating stuff to do, touch, feel, jump on, ride on, walk and even fly on.. experiences! Our day in TTE was too short and simply Amazing! I cannot recommend enough!

A simply awesome whole day experience for young kids and science-interested adults!
The food in the restaurant perhaps leaves a bit to be desired but it's not bad and there are places to eat your own lunch if you prefer to bring your own.

My kids loved this place. No joke, this was the highlight of the trip for them. In fact, I loved it too. The interactive exhibits were engaging and fun. I never thought my kids would have that much fun learning science. I really enjoyed the outdoor space and the exhibits included there. This is a must if have kids between 7 and 15 and are in the Stockholm area.

If you are into science experiments...this is the place 🤗😍. Both for adults and for kids. You can bring your own food or use the restaurant facilities at the place. Also, it would be advisable to bring change clothes for kids as there are also water sports💦🙌

Well I was a bit skeptical at first but glad I took the kids, they loved every minute of it. The bubble show was interesting but wish they blew more bubbles, that's the kid in me talking 😂😂. With 4 floors trust me the kids will love it and you as an adult will find one or two things interesting too

Its pretty nice place to spend a day with kids. There are many science experiments present both for kids and adults to get amazed.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Gamla Stan, also known as Stockholm's Old Town, is a charming island with cobbled streets and colorful 17th- and 18th-century buildings. It's home to the Royal Palace, Storkyrkan cathedral, stylish bistros serving New Nordic cuisine, old-school pubs, and chic cocktail bars. The nearby Riddarholmen island hosts summer concerts at Riddarholmen Church. Gamla Stan offers proximity to landmarks like the Parliament and beautiful churches.
Fotografiska is a museum located in a former customs house, displaying contemporary photography exhibitions. The building itself is made of bricks and has been converted into a space that showcases world-class photography across four floors. Instead of having a permanent collection, Fotografiska hosts four large and over 100 smaller temporary exhibits each year, ensuring there's always something new to see. They also offer courses and workshops for those interested in improving their photography skills.
Very interesting place with unique exhibitions. Expect to spend at least 2 hours in there since you would most likely get lost in the fascinating and intriguing photos. The gift shop is also filled with interesting and fashionable memorabilia. However, it is a bit difficult to get there since there seems to be construction going on nearby so it is slightly inaccessible compared to the other museums. However, it is definitely worth visiting, especially at night since there are sometimes events going on. Crowds usually start to build up after lunch so if you want some time alone in the museum, it would be good to go early in the morning.

Absolutely amazing! The museum was filled with great photographs and had 2 floors so it wasn’t overwhelming to see everything. The exhibitions were very well organized. The museum also had an entrance floor lunch area with a very nice scenic view as well as a roof floor. Loved the building and the atmosphere of the interior as well as the view. Definitely worth a visit. The shop was also amazing with so many books and posters to buy.

Half of the exhibitions were interesting and worth a visit, but it was way overpriced. Visit only if the money is a non issue, or if you absolutely love photography. Definitely not for a general public.

The exhibitions were great and very on point. The selected photographers and their pieces were amazing, the amount of information given was perfect. People visiting can be a bit posh about clothing/looks and thus rude. The staff is not like that at all. Will return when visiting Stockholm again :)

One of the renowned photography museums in the port/Södermalm area of Stockholm.
The museum was currently exhibiting 4 exhibitions which we took roughly an hour to go through. I really enjoyed the Pet Show exhibition.
Make sure to check out the photo booth on Level 1.
The museum also houses a Michelin star restaurant - unfortunately did not have a chance to experience it this time.

Fotografiska is the best art gallery in Stockholm. It's not cheap to visit, but the exhibitions and artists are always way above par, everything is impeccably curated, the building is outstanding and the location is spectacular. The views from the top-floor restaurant are unbeatable. Highly recommend.
Denise Tench — Google review
Our experience was a bit average. I guess the experience hugely depends on the collection at the time of visit. I was expecting a lot more from a photography museum than just the showcase of the work of some really big and celebrated photographers. For me, most of the work lacked either story or imagination but again, maybe we visited at the wrong time.

Lovely building but hard to get to because there are major roadworks at the main tube station and limited to no signage to guide you.
Other than that the exihibitions are interesting but nothing amazing either.
Restaurant is very nice with an overview on the bay and delicious food.

The photos exhibitions are amazing.
The experience on the restaurant was interesting but isn't breathtaking or amazingly good. The good side was the wine menu that has the perfect combination with the served dishes. Beside that is just overpriced food.

Great experience, ground floor is well built by decade and the set up makes time flying, very entertaining! The temporary exhibition was original and quite interesting. Big plus for being open late in the evening giving a chance to visit after working hours. However we couldn’t find any info on opening hours of the restaurant despite we heard from friends the food is very good, but we didn’t get the chance to try it ourselves as it looked being closed at 9.30pm.

Beautiful & unique building, with a gorgeous restaurant at the top. A must try in Stockholm.

Caught the Terry O'Neil and Andy Warhol exhibits at the Fotografiska. Fantastic art space, with the building right in the Södermalm Island. This is a treat, especially for photography fans.

A thought provoking, immersive experience. Well presented throughout with some interesting exhibitions. Also very well located for excellent views across Stockholm with a fantastic restaurant bar on the top floor with excellent windows, although seats by the windows are reserved for guests buying meals.
I would consider this less a museum and more of a gallery, if you are looking for a museum of photography this is not the place, but rather a lovely art museum of photography.

Loved my quick visit inside Fotografiska earlier this month. They had a great collection of souvenirs, tokens, literature, and relevant art from the hip hop exhibit. There were many great tributes for the musical & cultural genre across the related eras.

Generally has some great exhibitions on. Current one being the 50 years of Hip Hop which has some great photos/images from start of the Hip Hop era all the way through.
Check out the cafe on top floor for lovely vista over waters and view of city.
Easiest to just walk there from subway.

I’m an avid photography enthusiast, and while this wasn’t my first museum visit, I left feeling quite disappointed.
The location is stunning, situated by the water, and the building itself is lovely. The ticket price, around 24 euros, is reasonable, and the staff are friendly.
However, the museum itself is rather small. The first exhibits weren’t even predominantly photographic. The second part focused on selfies, which had an interesting concept but lacked something exciting. The remaining exhibits were “passable” at best, with a strange collection of kaleidoscope photos and Vogue movies. One part was pretty great though with the work of Richard Renaldi. The restaurant on the top floor offers a beautiful view but is incredibly noisy. Overall, I was quite disappointed. The museum shop also left much to be desired

Beautiful museum with multiple different expositions. Not just a feast for your eyes but also a trigger for your mind. We really enjoyed it and spent hours inside. Top floor has a nice restaurant with extraordinary views over the river and Stockholm.

If you love art and photography, you've come to the right place. The exhibitions with all the talented artists change from time to time. I really enjoyed browsing through the well-curated exhibitions. At the moment there's an interesting section on selfies (The Selfie Matter), exploring the historical and cultural aspects behind the popular photographic technique. And don't miss the "Cindy Sherman - Tapestry" collection.
I love that they also have a place for uprising talents where you can spot their work.
Upstairs there is a cosy restaurant and café with a breathtaking view over Stockholm and the harbour district - take a break there and let yourself be inspired!

Extremely good value for money! Really nice food, wine and service and not to forget the view!!! This is really a go-to place and the only complaint would be actual distinctiveness in 2 of the servings. Even though for the value I would go here as often as I could

I have seen several of Cindy Sherman exhibits in the US and Europe, ‘Tapestries’ is extraordinary! Her selfies digitized, changed, distorted by an app and transformed into 5ft tapestries. Art.
Sitting on an artificial island in Djurgarden, the Vasa Museum is one of Sweden's most popular museums with visitors from all over the world. The museum tells the story of how a ship sunk after leaving Stockholm only to be rescued 300 years later almost in perfect condition.
Amazing one of a kind museum. Detailed explanations of the salvaging and history of the ship. Guests are allowed really up close to the ship and it’s beautiful details can be examined. Three levels to the museum with a beautiful cafe with nice staff and good food. Gift shop is well stocked with affordable and good quality memorabilia. Strongly recommended!

Visited here our first day in Stockholm. Was super cool to see such a large ship on display inside. It really takes you by surprise when you first walk in! The amount of details in the ship is amazing. And to think how old it is and how long it spent underwater… Bought tickets on site and didn’t wait in any line.
My only complaint is the lighting. It seems very dim which makes it difficult to see the details and interior. I don’t know if it’s due to the preservation but brighter lights would be more beneficial. Even adding some lights inside the ship would make it easier to see inside when you’re looking through the open areas.
I like how there’s several different levels to see the various angles. It wasn’t too crowded inside which was nice and there was a lot of history and reading on other parts. All in all, it was a great time spending a couple hours here and I recommend it to others!

This is an amazing place. Such a wow factor as soon as you walk in the door, the ship is right there. Displays are easy to see and read, the floor plan is well laid out. The movie is shown in many languages multiple times a day so you can easily see it at some point during your visit. There's an audio tour that's also a text tour, using your own device. The great thing about this is that you can use it at any time before, during or after your visit so if you want to only concentrate on what's in front of you at the museum. Staff was so friendly and helpful with information. The museum is easily reached from public transportation. I felt that this was something I absolutely couldn't leave Sweden without seeing. Incredible!

Great museum with an actual ship for scale and details of the how the inside looked in the walk through. Kids 5 years and older enjoyed it because they can touch stuff in the walk through. Also a nice video explaining how it sank and the restoration process. Definitely a good excursion to try out.

Good museum, entry is free if you have the city pass. You can spend anywhere from 10 minutes to 1.5 hours here depending on how you want to visit. The ship itself is very impressive. There are lots of things to read up on, including details from the ship. There is also a room showing a film about the history of the museum which is really handy if you didn't come with a tour guide. The film is shown in different languages with a timetable outside. There are some really nice things to buy in the gift shop which are reasonably priced for the quality. There are a lot of unisex toilets on site.

Very unique architecture. A reconstructed and preserved war ship ⚓ from more than 300 years ago.
Very interesting story, a lot of lessons to learn.
We had a corporate event and dinner there. Experience that cannot match.
The waiters were dressed as 300 years ago. The good was presented so intriguing.
The temperature 🌡️ is 18 degrees to preserve the ship.
I highly recommend for private and corporate visits and events.

The story of this boat, read earlier, had not left me unmoved. Once past the entrance, it appears in its entirety, from bow to stern, keel to mast, incredibly well preserved. The Swedes are renowned for their mastery of woodworking, and this 17th-century masterpiece is proof of that. The shipwreck now allows us to see this unique testimony to the fact that an entire country did everything in its power to make this visit possible. You won't want to miss this appointment with naval history, and even more so if your route takes you through Stockholm.

This museum is fantastic! I highly recommend purchasing tickets online for around 20 euros; it allows you to select the closest available time upon arrival. The boat itself is absolutely incredible, meticulously preserved. The way they’ve arranged the exhibits is remarkable; some rooms have been faithfully recreated, providing an immersive experience. The artifacts, including clothing, jewelry, and other items found, are displayed perfectly. It’s a truly remarkable museum for both kids and adults alike. I highly recommend visiting!

A must for any touristic visit to Stockholm! It was like being in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie witnessing The Black Pearl live in the flesh. Just magnificent craftsmanship, and the details and sheer scale of the warship is unbelievable. Great exhibition full of history, with many useful and interesting facts. Try to book a guide and get on board the vessel for the full experience.

One of the most beautiful museums i have ever seen (and i have seen many). This museum is built on top and around the Vasa ship, and it's about the ship (the history and the story of how it was built, by whom and the purpose, and the story of the people that had to do with it and those who died when the ship sank) . I was amazed by the stories and the size of the ship. The ship is entirely in this museum and you hardly have a chance to see a ship like this anywhere else. I have spent 4-5h here and got to visit the city just to see this ship and the museum. I recommend sincerely - this is not to miss when visiting the city. I hope many will see this ship in the following centuries.

I am not a huge fan of museums but this museum is just fantastic. You can learn about the history of this ship, the effort it took to rescue and restore it, the ongoing effort to conserve it for the future and much more. There are info displays everywhere or you can join free tours in English and other languages. You can spend easily 2 hours or more here. The ship is absolutely impressive and huge!

We’ve visited a few museums around Stockholm, and along with the Museum of Wrecks, this has been the best by a long way.
Obviously the ship herself is an incredible thing to be able to see, but all the additional information has been incredibly well presented.
I highly rate the museum.
I had not appreciated the vast amount of detailed work on the ship, which was clearly shown here.
A great day out. Highly recommend this to all.

A unique artistic treasure. A huge puzzle.
It is really interesting to see this ship. And the more amazing is when you realize they pull it out after being underwater for 300 years.
We have to thank the brackishness of the Baltic Sea that helped keep this ship safe all these years.
In this museum, there are side exhibitions related to the events and equipment of this ship, which are unique in their kind. Especially the human skeletons left by passengers.
You can use the human guide in English and Swedish, as well as the audio guidance in several languages, although I have not used it and I have no opinion about its quality.
You can find a store with various goods, a restaurant and places to rest and sit in the museum.
Allow at least 3-4 hours to see it in detail. 😊
Have fun! 😍

Really interesting museum, within walking distance of Stockholm city centre. The museum has several levels where you see the ship from different angles and read about it's design and items recovered from the wreck. I would recommend allowing 2-3 hours to visit here.

I really loved this museum as they had simple and easy to understand explanations of the details that were on the ship. They preserved the boat really well and they also had a few films inside about the history of the Vasa ships. Definitely recommend this if you are visiting Stockholm. We also had the opportunity to visit the Brickwerks in collaboration with Lego, would have been more interesting and fun if I was 10 years old. But the ship is a total beauty that is worth seeing. We bought the tickets in the counter there, luckily for us there wasn’t that much of a crowd. Maybe if you are absolutely sure that you will be visiting this museum, it is not that bad of an idea to book the tickets in advance.
There are also clean toilets available inside and a restaurant but we did not try it. It was pretty packed when we went inside though.

The best museum in Sweden and probably the world! I’m not an expert in museums but this one has a nice layout. It tells a story from start to finish and you will be amazed on how detailed the stories are.
The documentary films are well made and it’s shown in various languages, on schedule, so check them out.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Great service.
The souvenirs are not expensive at all unlike those from other tourist places so grab a souvenir or 2.

Great place to spend a few hours.
One of the only preserved ships from the 1600s, the sheer size and quality of this is extremely impressive.
Well worth the cost for entry.
Compared to its Viking Ship counterpart in Oslo, Norway...I would have to say this museum is even better. (Even if there are roughly 800 years separating the 2)

Amazing exhibition with super great views of the Vasa boat. The interactive built around this vessel is truly world class. Amazing museum, can't recommend it high enough. If you're into engineering and building stuff you'll love this place, it has so many details on how the ship was built. All is focused on this ship and its numerous details, the whys and hows and when, the folly and ideas of the old leaders and told with a bit of whimsy. Been there twice already, and will be a mandatory stop when I'm in Stockholm

Breathtaking! The ship the truly incredible - especially the carvings on the back. The surrounding exhibits are also interesting and give the story of the ship. Definitely should visit if you are in Stockholm!

The museum is very interesting. I recommend you take the guided tour. It is included with the purchase of the price ticket. The tour can be every 30min or every hour. You have to double check that because on the website it said every 30 minutes but when I arrived they said every hour. It’s worth walking for the tour so they can listen to the explanation. They also have the possibility to have an audio tour which is nice and want to take it at your own pace. They don’t have any lockers to put your jackets in. The shop store is also very nice. I got the 2 children’s books about the Vasa which is very nice and easy for kids to understand.

Amazing! This has to be one of the best museums in Sweden or elsewhere. Such an interesting place. It could easily take 2.5-3 hours to visit this place thoroughly. So much effort has been put into creating this place and also putting the right amount of information so that it does not bore you. The magnanimity of the ship is something you cannot fathom until you visit and experience it yourself. Incredible museum, like nothing I've ever experienced before.
The description of the museum (a remarkably preserved 17th-century warship on display) entirely fails to prepare you for the overwhelming experience of seeing it in person. It is like traveling back in time. The enormity of the ship and the intricacy of the ornamentation will take your breath away, and that's before you even get to the beautifully designed exhibits on the construction of the ship, the circumstances of its sinking and preservation, the salvaging and restoration process and the ongoing preservation. These might sound like dry topics but you will be riveted.
Luck preserved this incredible ship for almost 400 years, but it was massive talent, skill, and dedication that built this museum.

I only had a couple days in Stockholm, with time for one museum and came to the Vasa Museum. It was a lovely experience taking in the different views of the recovered 17th century vessel. I also enjoyed all of the research and information about life in 1620s Stockholm, construction of the ship, and the recovery process. I arrived about 90 minutes before close and was able to view all the exhibits with about 10 minutes to spare, albeit a bit rushed. I wasn't able to view any of the informative screenings/videos though. I would recommend at least 2 hours if you can.

This captivating museum houses the world's only almost fully intact warship from 17th century- the mighty Vasa. Tragically, the Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in 1628, but it was salvaged centuries later. The museum's layout cleverly guides you around the magnificent ship, letting you admire its intricate carvings and imagine life aboard. Interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations bring the story of the Vasa and its time to life. Don't miss the chance to explore the on-site shop for unique souvenirs before you depart.

The ABBA Museum is a museum dedicated to the pop group ABBA. It contains a studio and dance floor, as well as exhibits about the group's history and music. The museum is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
Loved every minute spent in this museum as an Abba fan. The staff, the virtual tour, the collection and the story - all is great. The shop outside has exclusive souvenirs of high quality. Inside the temperature is nice and not very crowded. Lockers are good. Totally recommend!

I swear, this is the best thing I have done when visiting Stockholm, I have no regrets. It's such a funky little museum - I was in awe seeing all the iconic original costumes worn by Abba as well as all the cool photo opportunities we had. The Abbatar experience was also fun, getting to pretend you were in the band. It's a very interactive museum, with a guided audio tour and lots of things to do.
There were also lockers to keep your stuff in when walking around the museum.

Must see place in Stockholm. The museum is not extremely detailed or fascinating, though it does give a good intro to ABBA. It’s very small. The entrance and exit are the same, so it can get crowded easily.
There are many interactive experiences, though some of them are broken. There are also many on-stage items that could be easily worth thousands or millions of dollars in auctions.
A decent place that could’ve been better.

To me it was one of the best attractions in Sweden. It explains in great details the history of the group ABBA all their successes and the impact that they had while they were at their peak. Absolutely beautiful! What an amazing experience.
As a huge ABBA fan, this place gives me that nostalgic feeling. Their music is a huge part of my childhood and until now I still like listening to them.
The entrance fee is very reasonable.
Buy some souvenirs and memorabilia because surprisingly they are not expensive based on Sweden standard.
Buy ticket in advance. Go to their website and you can choose the time you will enter so you can conveniently proceed inside when you get there.
Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!!!!

This my second time going. It is a very interactive experience. You can scan a QR code and get a free audio on your phone. When you enter there are some free lockers where you can leave all your things. The instructions are on the locker when you open it. It’s a bit tricky so make sure you read it properly. The bathrooms are also there so take advantage. So I would recommend you bring some headphones. When you buy the ticket it says you only have 30 minutes to visit but no one is checking and we stayed longer than that without a problem. If you want to buy anything at the shop at the end of the exhibition you can scan a QR code and they will give you a 10% discount. You will show it to them at the shop. At the beginning there were a lot of people but you can still get some good pictures.

I walked in as someone who generally liked ABBA, and I walked out as a super fan of them.
The museum does a really good job at not only portraying their life and accomplishments as a band, but also walks you through each of their individual lives before, during, and after ABBA.
Their creative process, the development of their style and writing, how their videos were recorded and much more are also explored here. It is all scattered in a very creative way throughout this museum.

A must see landmark for Stockholm. If you arrive early the line is workable but after 11 am there's usually a long line. The museum contains great materials and memorabilia along with media clips that make the visit very dynamic. You can easily get involved and it's a very practical experience to learn more about the group. Plan to spend at least 90 minutes. I would have given a 5 star but the space is a bit tight for such a large crowd and then the museum is mostly underground which is a bit odd.

Brilliant, brilliant museum. What a trip down Memory Lane and see the iconic Abba outfits .... magic. Great stuff for all ages, sing karaoke, dance with a hologram. Good experience

Amazing experience in ABBA museum! I would recommend everyone who is visiting Stockholm to come to this museum. There was no queue at the entrance, it is easy to enter and also there is lockers for your staff so you don’t need to worry bringing it with you, just simply leave it in the locker and freely walk around the museum. Museum is really interactive, lost of things to do, sing, act, take a picture, take a quiz, etc. Only one thing I didn’t like and understand is that you are not allowed to take videos around museum but pictures are fine. I don’t find it logical. Anyhow amazing experience, worthy of your time. The store at the entrance should be better organised with more choices. Definitely recommending!!

The best place ever. Was here in 2013 and loved it then. When i knew i was returning to Sweden from Australia to visit my friend down the south, we decided a trip to Stockholm was vital and the Abba museum was first on our list.
Well it was even better the second time. We spent nearly 2 and a half hours there reading and watching things an participating in the fun activities .
Highly recommend. We even decided to stay in the hotel attached to it. Wonderful.

This is a wonderful museum telling the history of the band Abba. The exhibitions are amazing and a great tribute to a great musical group. They do a good job telling the story of the members and then showing their time together and their post Abba works. There are a lot of interactive areas to let you song, dance and also a virtual giggle flight in a helicopter flying over the Archipelago’s showing where some of their hits were written. If you have some time while in Stockholm and enjoy music you need to visit this place.

Abba, at some point in time it used to be my favorite band, around 20 years ago. The music is still lively. This place has been setup nicely, but definitely not worth the price we paid for a family of 4.

This is the best Museum I have ever been to. Walking in dancing out, is the slogan, and this is how it really is 💃🏽🕺🏻. The emotions are Big, Reading the stories of the members of the band, they share personal views, you can sing on stage with ABBA, Go in to a room and Dance to ABBA Music with strangers choosing your Own favorite songs, goose bumps and a little tear is mandatory in this museum, i love it and must Go again 🕺🏻💃🏽🇸🇪🥳🥳❤️❤️

It was such a great place to visit. We had a lot of fun learning about ABBA and their history. We really loved the AI stage and had a great time with karaoke and seeing all the clothes they wore for their concerts. We paid extra for the commentary, but you could enjoy it without it. Also, it's on your phone so you can hear it. You don't necessarily need to all pay for it. You can turn it up to listen together. It's not as fun if you don't know the songs, so if you plan on taking younger people, be sure they know the music, or they may not get as much enjoyment out of it.

This museum is one of the places where I had most fun. You can listen to songs of ABBA in several European languages, you can dance with holograms of band members on the stage and sing songs of the band for karaoke too. There is as well a documentary in the museum, you can check original clothes worn by band members, statues of the band, awards won and the recording studio too. You can eat nearby and you can buy amazing gifts in the gift store. Can't wait to go there again!

If you love ABBA you will love this! Even if you don't love ABBA its a good insight into one of the worlds most popular and enduring groups. Costumes, albums and single covers from around the world, gold records and interactive displays (join ABBA on stage, try to mix a record or do a singing audition!)

Very enjoyable, informative, thorough and fun experience.
Visited on a grey and rainy day and this put some colour in our cheeks.
History, music, costumes, concerts - it’s all here to revisit and delight in. Very thorough and fascinating levels of detail (even the original Eurovision costumes) and a well curated journey through the careers as solo, group and solo again. Very entertaining.

This was a really, really nice Museum.
You can read the stories about every single person and the band. You can hear every single song and have a look about the important places, where they met and where their produced their songs. At the beginning of the exhibition you can see, how they built the Show for the Voyage Revival.
And naturally you have at the end of the exhibition a Souvenirshop. This was so nice and your ABBA Heart would be very happy.

Great interactive Museum, You can sing, dance with Abba . It was a great exhibition. All items are originally.
Important: You MUST BUY the entrance cards before online!!!
You can drive with the boat there or walk ( SL App - public transportation in Stockholm , as well for underground and so on....) in Nordic countries you cant buy transportation Tickets with cashmoney
Nearby are many nice other Museums ( for example Skansen ( was great too ) , Viking...?

What fun! I obviously know of ABBA but not the history detailed here in the museum. Their music still lifts us and even though it’s been decades since they played as a band today’s theater, technology and fans keep them alive!

The Skansen open air museum is a historical attraction located on the island of Djurgarden in Sweden and was founded in 1891. The museum has buildings from all over Sweden that were brought here to show what life was like in different parts of Sweden during earlier times. There are also craft demonstrations held, such as glass blowing, and an animal house where you can watch monkeys. The museum is popular with tourists who enjoy history, native crafts, local food, and native animals.
You don't have to pay for a lot of museums here in Stockholm, but this one isn't free. And this is within reason, because it's a great location to spend some hours while you're here. It's a combination between a small zoo (with a lynx, bears, moose...) And an reenactment of old times, complete with authentic houses and people who are dressed and offer insight on the lives of people who lived 100 years ago.
This place is really great. It's open air, so I would recommend going on a sunny day to get the most out of it. Great place to go with children!

We love this park. It is so sweet and beautiful. There are lots of animals with big enclosures, from farm animals to more exotic things like lynx and Arctic Arctic foxes. The views of Stockholm are really pretty too if the weather is nice. Reasonably priced for what can be a full day out. Really fun time!

About €25 per person to enter. It is an open air museum with small zoo, aquarium, gardens, and shops. Nice view of Stockholm from across the river. Nice place to spend half a day with your friends or loved ones if the weather is nice.
Some places are hills/stairs that can get steep, so wear good shoes.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere. We started around 11 am and could see the entire open air museum in 3 hours. There are many attractions within the museum from zoos, church, farm, and many other activity areas. If it’s a sunny day you will enjoy a lot. There is a decent aquarium called Baltic aquarium.

Magnificent discovery in this vast park located on a hill in Stockholm. In winter, there is a cozy and quiet atmosphere due to the low attendance and you can walk among the wooden houses in a polar atmosphere. The animals live in semi-freedom close to their natural habitat. Very beautiful view of the city from the top of the park

Nice to visit on a clear weather day! You can easily spend the day there and enjoy some house / villages reconstitution and wildlife. You can pay by cash at the ticket booth and the souvenir shop which is a plus. The staff was really nice and the souvenir shop offers a large choice of handmade and traditional goods. Nice for everyone :)

If the weather is decent, this park is a perfect spot to enjoy a bit of nature in Stockholm for a half day.
Also doubles as a zoo and musical venue spot to enjoy an open air concert.
The park itself holds various species of local fauna (bears, wolves, etc) as well as different structures from around Sweden's past eras.

Visited on Monday and was really calm, no crowds (besides the big groups with children) so had the chance to fully appreciate it and feel the atmosphere. Zoo part is nice - lots of animals that are easy to see and are not disturbed from people. The old town with the different businesses and the glass workshop demonstrations just made me speechless. All huts and farms in the park are worth to be seen. Ducks , swans, chicken, squirrels walk around the park freely . ♥️ I really recommend to consider more time when visiting - we spent 5h and honestly would spend more!

Great Park with lots to discover. There are museums an old town with life role play, a small deer park including local species. I really enjoyed just walking around and get the impression how sweden has looked in different centuries. Come early and plan minimum 2-3 hours. There is lots to discover and many things close quite early.

Very cool concept, especially for families, but I would have expected a bit more for the price.
Having such a big park in a big city is by itself amazing. Then making it an open- air museum dedicated to educating people in a fun way is great. I liked walking around, watching the animals and seeing the unique old houses.
However, it would be nice if you could actually go inside. You CAN go in some of them with dressed up people explaining the history in a playful and fun way. That's great! Only when I was there these were only like 3 houses. Maybe it was just today, but I would have definitely wished for more.
You can see many animals that live in Sweden and I saw lots of families with joyful kids. You can join a tour for further explanations and they have signs with explanations.
I do think 19€ is overpriced for a student price. All in all, I still liked it.

Stunning scenery in winter. However, not much introduction or guidance about the architecture and the buildings. I was a bit confused.
Nevertheless, there is a nice lady who works in the church introduce us much about the Sami and Swedish history. Overall, it is a nice place to visit.

I really enjoyed the visit. It will take half a day to see everything. I saw all the northern animals, only the bear postponed the performances until spring for understandable reasons🥱 Many ancient buildings of various purposes, cafes, entertainment for children, benches for picnics. Beautiful panoramas to the city. There is the center of the Baltic Sea. The oldest open-air museum is especially popular with parents with small children.
Be sure to stop by😉

Weak; low value.
Slightly better than a walk through an old Stockholm neighborhood but with some animals & a price tag of 160 kr.
It could be cool if you’re with kids, but I’d skip if short on time. Note: we visited during winter time on a cold, cloudy day.

A very large open air display of housing and lifestyle through the ages. We visited in the autumn and not all advertised options were open, but still thoroughly worthwhile. Best to go on a fine and dry day to enjoy walking about. Easy access by public bus. Good amenities, small cafe. Part of the city visitor card system.

Lovely park! We went here for the midsummer celebration, when there was some programm, singing, folk dances, and a market. The park is big with a lot of things to look at and experience. Even a little zoo with "Nordic Animals". We will definitely come back sometime. Our personal favorite was the amazing underground aquarium.

We had perfect weather in July and spent a really lovely few hours here. Lunch was average. There’s a really impressive mini-zoo in the back with beautiful landscaping and walkways. The highlight is the people reenacting historical activities like making cheese, living on a 1920s farm, going on bike holiday in the 50s. The kids absolutely loved it. Oh, and definitely don’t miss the Lemur enclosure! It costs extra but it was totally worth it.

One of the loveliest experiences and places in town, although with a bit of mixed feelings when it gets to the lovely animals in captivity.

It was a really nice Park with animals and old Houses, but I think this wasn't the right time (March) to go for a Trip to Skansen.
Many enclosure were empty and I think it would be nicer, when the spring is coming and the nature will blooming up.
Otherwise the park was really empty und you've got parts to be for your own.

They charged us extra for the New Year's Eve event, even if we already had a ticket for earlier that same day. The event was alright, and the restaurant remained open. However, once New Year's Eve arrived, they began closing everything, requiring everyone to leave.
Interestingly, the sign indicating the year was mostly displaying 2023 (at 0hrs it changed but then it went back to 2023— I'm not sure why and didn't get an explanation). On the positive side, it offers a beautiful viewpoint of the city, and the music was good.

It has a lot of things inside, for a more than fair price. I recommend you visit the website to check the free guided tours hours and to ask questions to the people inside the houses. They know a lot of things and will show you inside the rooms and cupboards.
I recommend you buy the tickets in advance and spend the full day here.

When: end of year, after Christmas, during a week day
Who: young adults, without kids
I would not recommend going here. Most houses and markets are closed, lights and music are placed in the most random way and animals placed in cages with should really not be allowed anymore. The price is way too much for what you get. It was definitely a disappointment, but we had a good laugh about it.
I’m sure that for families with kids, in the summer, it is a great attraction.

In my opinion Skansen has everything a tourist would want to see when in Stockholm. The park has bakeries and coffee shops where you can taste traditional pastry and baked goodies. You can see arctic animals in the small zoo and domestic species who are closer to getting extinct, there’s an aquarium where you can get close to the animals and I’ve even petted a snake. You can have a free guided tour in the old neighbourhood and learn more about Swedish history and way of living. We easily spent the whole day there without realising it.

Excellent place to visit. The only problem was the English version of explanation that has to be done in the phone. The animal visit was interesting. Kids are super exited petting the snake and the spider.
Sandhamn is a little community situated in the central-peripheral section of the Stockholm Archipelago, around 50 km from Stockholm in eastern Sweden. The settlement is established on Sandön Island, which locals commonly refer to as Sandhamn.
The Åland Maritime Museum is an interactive exhibit showcasing Aland's rich marine history. The museum features preserved boats, including a reproduction ship with a mast, saloon, galley and cabins as the centerpiece. Visitors can explore the docks, steam engines and even a kids' room. The museum also offers a glimpse into pirate life with ships in bottles and sea chests on display.
One of the best maritime museums in the world. From the exhibitions inside to the magnificent sailing ship Pommern outside...and yes you can go onboard.

The ticket price was 15€ for adults.
The place has 3 floors total with one underground.
There are plenty of interesting things to see and discover, including: a real pirate flag, highly detailed ship models and artifacts from the life of sailors
For children there are many interactive expositions to explore with "sea monsters" as a highlight.

Pros:
-Ticket is good for ship Pommern museum and for the Aland maritime museum where you buy ticket.
-Audio guide in many languages for ship museum
-Audio guide tells you a story, not boaring facts. My husband thoug felt like it is disadvantage of the audio. He was left with unanswered question.
-Nicely maintained and set rooms on the boat, easy to access
-Entertaining for kids as well. Few touch screens keep kids interacting, dancing game for adults/kids, you can try on costume on the boat. In ground museum there is few themed kids rooms with a cool stuff
-Good looking photos can be made on the boat and in ground museum
-Very interesting for all ages expositions in ground museum
Cons:
-None.

Åland Maritime Museum is a monument to history of Aland as the holder the world's largest fleet of wooden sailing ships. Be sure to visit the four-masted barque named Pommern, built in Glasgow in 1903, which is anchored behind the museum. The interior of the museum is built like a ship's prow cutting into the land. Our cruise ship was docked right next door so very easy to walk over after we had the included cruise tour in morning. Give your self a couple of hours to visit the museum inside and ship outside. When on the ship as price of admission you are provided an audio phone setup to listen to a guided tour of ship. The speakers describe life aboard ship during a fishing cruise.

Turku Castle, founded in 1280 at the mouth of the Aurajoki River, is Finland's largest fortress. It has undergone significant transformations from a simple island fortress to a Renaissance palace. The castle houses a historical museum that traces its history from medieval fort to renaissance palace. Visitors can explore two dungeons and lavish banqueting halls while learning about Turku's medieval past through models that showcase the castle's growth.
One of the most beautiful castles I have seen in Finland. Must visit. Excellent collection and presentation. Well maintained

Very interesting castle. The interior design is contemporary and the ticket price is okay for the size. Interesting insight into the Middle Ages of Finland. Although a little way out of central Turku, it is well worth the easy walk along the river or short bus ride to visit the castle, which can easily absorb half a day or more. It was badly damage in World War II, and it has been rebuilt with the minimum of conjectural reconstruction, and is a delightful labyrinth in which to immerse yourself for a few hours. The original castle is a bewildering journey of passageways and staircases (there is a really helpful room containing models of the castle through the centuries), with the lower part focussed on the medieval era and the upper part on the Renaissance period. The bailey, at the front, is part castle history and part museum of nineteenth-century Turku interiors. There’s a café/restaurant in the courtyard for sustenance, and helpful staff positioned strategically around the tourist route.

We visited here on a weekend. We arrived a bit last minute, and didn’t have enough time to see all of the castle. There weren’t many guests left. Us and two other groups.
Nevertheless, the castle is well preserved and I really liked the staff; Knowledgeable, polite and with a positive attitude.
I advise to definitely have at least 2 hours of time, so you can relax and enjoy the place in peace.
The tickets for adults are 12€, kids (7-15) 5€, under 7 are free. There’s also special family tickets etc, you can ask at the front desk. You may also use the museum card.
If you’re a wheelchair user or have trouble walking, some areas may be impossible for you to access, while others a bit hard. There seems to be an elevator, which you can use to get to some parts, so not completely inaccessible.

This place deserves 10 out of 5 stars!!! The castle is amazing itself as well as the modern restoration and information regarding how they did it. And just when you think you're done there's a whole other area filled with slightly more modern furniture, clothing, metalwork and more! Be sure to give yourself lots of time. I'm a slow museum visitor but I don't think I could see it all in one day.

I could’ve spent easily 2 more hours in there. I learned so much about Turku’s (and Finland in general) history at this museum. The staff is kind and helpful and eager to explain. I wish the lighting could be a little brighter because there were some exhibit notes that I couldn’t read because of how dim the castle was. The castle can also be rented out for special occasions like weddings and such! I was grateful that most rooms had its exhibit notes translated in English.

Despite Turku Castle's rich history and knowledgeable staff, our overall experience was marred by an unexpected policy regarding ticket validity. On our first visit, we purchased tickets in the late afternoon but didn't have time to explore the entire castle. When we returned the following day to continue our tour, we were informed that we needed to purchase new tickets, despite having paid €14 each for the original tickets.
While some of the staff members were genuinely passionate about sharing the castle's history, our encounter with the older lady at the reception left a sour taste. Her dismissive attitude and the lack of flexibility regarding ticket validity tarnished our overall impression of the castle. It's disheartening to see a place with such a rich heritage adopting a money-oriented approach that prioritizes ticket sales over customer satisfaction.
We suggest that Turku Castle consider extending the validity of their tickets to 24 hours, allowing visitors to fully explore the castle at their own pace without the burden of purchasing multiple tickets. This change would be more customer-friendly and align with the spirit of a historical landmark that deserves to be appreciated and understood in its entirety.

Turku Castle, Linnankatu 80, 20100 Turku
Among Finland’s most prized pieces of national heritage, as well as one of its oldest buildings, Turku Castle took shape in the late-1200s during Finland’s Swedish period.
It was built to defend their province of Eastland but took on all sorts of different roles over the next few centuries: It was a luxurious palace, administrative centre, seat of government, warehouse and then a prison right up to the end of the 1800s.
Following a delay, the building was finally renovated in 1987 and is now a museum.
Currently under maintenance and repair activities.

Turku Cathedral, the main Lutheran church in Finland, is a large brick Gothic structure that has been reconstructed multiple times after destructive fires. The cathedral, consecrated in 1300 and restored after a fire in 1827, boasts impressive frescoes and royal tombs as well as a religious museum featuring medieval sculptures and other artifacts. Visitors can also enjoy free summer concerts showcasing the cathedral's organ on Tuesdays at 8pm.

In a generally low-rise city centre, Turku Cathedral is a striking, dominant presence. Externally, it has the appearance of many alterations across the centuries, whereas first impressions inside are of a harmonious, peaceful place. More detailed exploration will show all the ways it has changed over the years, but it is an interesting church to explore, with variously chapels and monuments revealing a long and complex history. It’s also worth spending a little time sitting and soaking up the tranquility amidst the busy city outside.

Beautiful cathedral. Very unusual look to it. There is a small museum upstairs that only costs 2 euro and I think it was interesting and definitely worth the few minutes it took to go up. There are some very cool models of the cathedral from various stages in its history. The visit has spurred me to read up a little more about the history of Turku and the great fire.

It was the most beautiful and wonderful church I have ever been to visit in Northern Europe. As soon as I entered, the sound of pipe organ ensemble, which sounded meek, and the quiet, sacred interior, was really beautiful. I entered without expecting much but the inside was so beautiful that I stayed in the cathedral for 30 minutes.

Unless you are very much into churches, the best way for me to enjoy this building is to sit at the outside restaurant/food stand area close by, and just chill there. You will have the church in the background for the pictures, and at the same time, the feeling that you are in the city center.

The cathedral is an amazing piece of history. Not only is the building still in use and beautifully maintained, they have also taken care to preserve the evidence of its many incarnations. The models showing its transformation over the centuries was well worth the visit. But then there was more! Statues, metalwork in silver and pewter, and textiles dating back centuries. One of the most moving buildings I have had the pleasure of visiting. ♥️♥️♥️

"Proper Finland" is the oldest part of the country, and the Cathedral of Turku represent the place in which Finland, as we know it today, took its' first steps. The old graves under the cathedral are just like in the middle Europes cathedrals, but in addition, there are, for example miniatures from the vessels that were absolute life line for Finns for centuries. Turku Cathedral is part of everyday life even today. At the time of the visit, there were exhibition from Ukraine and children's music school.
Open for all for free.

This is the most sacred place in Turku. Built in 1300s and you can see the old constructions and renovations done over the years. Good place for history lovers. There are severel chappels and glorious artworks including glass paintings. One of the most impressive thing is the pipe organ which is played several times a day. There is an small museum inside which cost 2€ for an adult which mainly includes the history of the cathedral.

The cathedral is important but nothing exceptional. What made the visit great was the rehearsal with the organ (every Tuesday, there are free concerts). The museum is also a big plus. Compact on the right side of the church.

Beautiful castle, full of history and many notable Swedish people who are laid to rest here. Clean toilets available too but only one for each gender + handicap toilet near the entrance. Entry to the cathedral is free of charge. Very big and peaceful. There's also a corner for children to play.

The Toompea is a prominent limestone hill located in Tallinn's old town, which offers great views of the city and its surroundings. On top of the mount, you can find important historical sights, including Toompea Castle, St. Olafs Church and Aleksander Nevsky Cathedral. The peak is also well-known for being the most popular viewpoint in Tallinn, with the old town below it on clear days.
Pretty! Prague’s vibe but you still can tell the buildings are different, a cool mix of culture of Russia / east EU/ Swedish. Domes of church some are in round / triangular

Visit the Lennusadam Seaplane Harbour in Tallinn, Estonia to explore the country's maritime history and collection of over 200 authentic objects. Highlights include the 1937 Lembit submarine, one of Europe's oldest sunken ships and more. The museum is a popular spot for maritime enthusiasts of all ages with many interactive activities and simulators to make the experience fun and memorable.
Super interesting museum for everyone. Impressive old submarine and maritime objects inside, and the chance to explore an old icebreaker ship and a military ship outside. It also has interactive fun content for younger visitors: flight simulator, green screen with sailor clothes, remote controlled boats etc. 8€ ticket for students.

Gorgeous building and really interesting museum with a lot of interactive exhibits and unique maritime artifacts. Being able to go inside of the Russian submarine was a really interesting, unexpected plus. Tickets are 15€ per person without the Tallinn card, but are worth it even full-price. This Seaplane Hangar now turned into a naval museum was built in 1916 as part of the sea fortress system protecting Saint Petersburg. This building is one of the most significant engineering and technical accomplishments of the 20th century, due to its massive domes and no supporting pillars. The museum has on display many interesting naval hardware from boats, a seaplane, estonian navy information, artillery pieces and even a real submarine - the Lembit. On the harbour area, there are many vessels that can be observed and even visited. One of the best naval museums to visit in Europe!
Ivan Garcia — Google review
Doesn’t disappoint, whether you are interested in boats or not.
The building is a huge concrete dome, that used to be a seaplane harbor.
The museum, which is a big open space, is pleasant to walk through. There is space, a lot to see and overall the navigation is easy.
My favorite part was the visit of the submarine, impressive and unusual.
Collections contains: unusual boats, cannons for coastlines/boats, seaplane replicas, boats models etc.
There are also boats to see in the port next to the museum.

I would highly recommend the Sea Harbour Museum to anyone with an interest in maritime history or simply looking for an engaging and enlightening outing. It is an absolute gem that offers an immersive journey through time, leaving visitors with a newfound appreciation for the impact of sea harbours on the world we know today. A visit to this museum is sure to leave an indelible mark and ignite a sense of wanderlust in even the most seasoned traveler.

Excellent museum, featuring a submarine from the 1930s that you can walk around in. There are many good interactive exhibits, including a flight simulator in a fake plane (the plane moves while you pilot it, everyone enjoyed that.) Unfortunately, several of the interactive exhibits were broken, but enough were still working that this museum deserves five stars - it was our favorite of the trip. I hope the museum gets on top of the maintenance before anything else breaks!

The Lennusadam Maritime Museum in Tallinn is a fascinating destination for family outings, especially with children. This museum, housed in a historical seaplane hangar, offers a unique glimpse into Estonia's maritime past. It's an excellent place to bring your son, as it features interactive exhibits, including submarines and a variety of seafaring vessels. To fully appreciate everything Lennusadam has to offer, it's advisable to allocate at least two hours for your visit, ensuring you have ample time to explore all its intriguing displays and activities.

The museum's extensive grounds house truly unique exhibits, including the entire submarine Lembit, various smaller sport vessels, and even the remains of a medieval boat. You'll find multiple Soviet and some German artillery units, primarily from military ships, that can be touched and operated to some extent. Occasionally, the museum hosts fascinating temporary exhibitions, such as the one showcasing contemporary sailors on long voyages. What sets this place apart is its ability to host banquets and public events on its spacious premises, typically in the evening after regular museum visitors have left.

Absolutely amazing museum. I don't understand why this isn't advertised more! Lots of interactive exhibitions, the chance to go into an actual submarine. Then it continues outside with a massive icebreaker ship. At first it seems you can only go on a small part of the deck, but there is a small sign in one of the doors that you can go in and visit all over the ship, including the engine rooms. Cannot recommend this museum more for anyone visiting Tallinn.

Fascinating, so much to explore - take your time and soak it in. Audio guide not essential, but be warned that there will be school groups and the shape of the building will make the noise echo. If you time your visit well, you'll escape that and be able to roam almost freely.

The Tallinn Town Hall is a historical landmark located in the heart of Tallinns Old Town. Built in 1404, the building is one of the oldest still surviving structures in Scandinavia and one of the most beautiful examples of Gothic architecture. The square around which it stands has been home to many merchant houses and marketplaces over the centuries, and has been the centre of life in Tallinn for many centuries.
Lovely. Tallinn Raekoda has existed since the 13th century in different shapes and forms. It is a central part of old town.
The town hall tower can be ascended throughout the year but the town hall itself is mostly only open for events.
The town hall was opened today for a concert. The musicians played a mix of classical and modern songs, it was spectacular.
I checked out everything in detail, from the detailed wood carvings to the tapestries, wooden benches and cellar level museum.
The museum hosts a detailed history and models of how the town hall developed over time. Including some gruesome stories of executions and historical costumes.
Upstairs, before the concert, the guard and one of the guarding ladies were so lovely to pose for photos. :)

Town Hall and it's square is a center of the miniature universe called Tallinn Old town. The entire old part of the city is quite compact but very homogeneous, very little intrusions of modern architecture, and the old wall of Tallinn makes a nice boundary between old and new. Approaching Tallinn Town Hall, you are immediately captivated by its magnificent facade. The architecture is a blend of Gothic and Baroque styles, adorned with intricate details, ornate decorations, and a towering spire. The well-preserved exterior transports visitors back in time, allowing them to marvel at the craftsmanship of the era.
Upon entering the Town Hall, you are welcomed into a world of historical significance. The interior is equally impressive, with beautifully preserved halls, grand staircases, and impressive artworks. The Great Hall, in particular, showcases the rich heritage of Tallinn, providing a glimpse into the city's governance and the grandeur of its past.
Throughout the year, Tallinn Town Hall also hosts various events, including concerts, exhibitions, and cultural festivities. These events further enhance the visitor experience, offering a chance to witness the Town Hall come alive with activity and celebration.

The spacious hall is located on the second floor of the building. I attended a concert here. The quartet, consisting of a violin, viola, cello, and piano, sounded quite impressive. The high ceiling enhanced the excellent acoustics, while the meticulously restored medieval interior created a refined aesthetic and a special atmosphere. The lighting was also well-balanced, not overly bright for the audience area, but sufficiently strong to clearly see all the details of the performing musicians and their instruments, even from the back rows.

Most photos and videos are the views from up the town hall’s tower, which I think is worth the visit. There are about 150 plus steps upwards. And while you are walking up, do notice the wooden flat planks, which back in the day disallowed access upwards (if removed) and was used for security… just in case.
The entrance is about 4 euros and if you really want a unique experience, go up there right at the top of the hour so you can see and hear the tower bell ring right in front of you. See the first video for reference. All in all a cool bird’s eye view of this medieval town.

The top location to visit in Tallinn, this town hall has a colourful history that dates back to medieval times, with its iconic tower overlooking old town.
Visitors can enter the town hall by buying a ticket, it's free for Tallinn Card holders, where you can learn more about the town hall's history in relation to Tallinn. You'll get to climb all the way to the rooftop as part of the entry. You can also climb the adjacent tower with the same ticket, but we didn't do it because we're lazy.
The exhibition is quite informative and it feels surreal to be in such a historical place. You also get to admire the evolving architecture of the building.
Your visit to Estonia would not be complete without dropping by here, even if you're just admiring it from the outside.

I think Tallinn's Old Town is an exciting destination for everyone on vacation. I live in Finland, so getting here is quite easy for me. You can easily visit in the morning and return to Finland in the evening, just like our group did. There's really no debate Tallinn is incredibly beautiful, historic, and much more affordable than Finland. I visited in summer, with warm weather, golden sunshine, and greenery and flowers everywhere. You can tell that many tourists come here to explore. I didn't find the food particularly outstanding, but that's just my opinion, and I didn't have much time to try many traditional Estonian dishes. There are plenty of places for people to discover during a trip to Tallinn.

Unfortunately there are mostly a lot of tourists. Therefore it is not really silent in this church. It sounds more like waiting at the railway station. Sometimes a lady talks through the speakers to be more silent, but this helps only 5 seconds...
For me a fun fact: Even citizens of Finnland are not allowed to enter this church without paying the entrance fee... 😂

Interesting church carved out of bedrock. It was built by two brother architects in the 1960s and is famed for its acoustics. It’s a bit expensive to go in (8 euros) in my opinion, but an interesting church nonetheless. It’s actually quite small, that is why the price seems a bit steep for me for what you get.

If you are coming to Helsinki, this stop is an absolute must. It is truly a unique experience and would highly suggest attending some type of concert - the acoustics are impressive. Important point - know where the entrance is at hahaha. You can easily find yourself on the back side of the church, climbing up stairs or walking up a path to a small outdoor seating area with now way to get down to the entrance. I marked on the screen capture where to go in. I will say the entrance to the church looks like you are going into a bunker. But as soon as you come in, you see the unique beauty of this church. There is an entry fee, but there is a small shop at the entrance, so you can pay with a card. We came in during a choir and instrumental practice. The seating is unique and fits perfectly within the space. There is also a beautiful organ, but unfortunately, we never got to hear it. I can imagine it would be quite the experience. There is additional seating on the upper balcony - also great sound and a viewing area if you don't want to go down onto the floor area. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting and admiring the work that was done to create such a unique place of worship. Thank you very much.

The pros : original place inside a rock and with an impressive metal roof. From the outside doesn’t look like much but inside is much more impressive.
The cons : entrance fee of 8 euros is on the high side for a visit that will take a few minutes at best.
Olivier Bernard — Google review
This was on my must-see list and glad I got to experience going inside. Unless you’re in Italy, church has never been on any of my itinerary but this was a one of a kind unique contemporary church built out of a rock. How many churches do you know where the interior was excavated from a solid rock?! Suggest you take in the atmosphere from the upstairs balcony.
Tamami Naito-Badessa — Google review
Impressive cathedral cause it’s build directly into rock but the entry costs 8 euros and inside there is no much to see. It’s a Lutheran church.
Famous for its neoclassical cathedral, Helsinki Cathedral is one of the two major churches in Finland. The green dome is a recognizable landmark and the church is used for important events by the government and university.
Beautiful and iconic cathedral located in the centre of Helsinki, capital of Finland is a must visit, located at the Senate Square. The church was originally built from 1830–1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. It is a major landmark of the city, and possibly the most famous structure in Finland as a whole when viewed globally. It's equally beautiful during the day and night time. The day we went it was not too crowded, we could sit peacefully to offer prayers. It was quite rejuvenating.j

We’ve only visited the Cathedral from outside. This white coloured structure forms an iconic view from the yard in front of her. She is beautiful.
If you’re visiting Helsinki for very short time even for a transit, this place is a place for “must visit”.

Helsinki Cathedral is, I think, one of main attractions in Helsinki. And for reason - Helsinki Cathedral is a magnificent building. With its robust appearance it entices full buses of tourists, and why not Finnish tourists, too, to admire its shiny white walls and green domes. The inside of the cathedral isn't any dissappointment, either, so in my opinion, the church is absolutely worth of visit.
Hannu Toivanen — Google review
Of course, going to Helsinki for me meant visiting churches and cathedrals.
I think this one is where you'll see most tourists, for a reason. It's located next to the parliament as well, and the view from up there is incredible.
I didn't take any picture of what it looks like inside. It's small and clean. Very white.

Helsinki Cathedral
A landmark in the Helsinki cityscape, with its tall, green dome surrounded by four smaller domes. It is one of Helsinki's most popular tourist attractions. The church is in regular use for services of worship and special events such as weddings.
Easily accessible from the city center, walking distance or you can take a tram ride.
Amey Naware — Google review
A very iconic place to visit in Helsinki. The history is fascinating too. It’s simplicity and beauty stands out at the center of the Senate Square. It is the home of the world famous Choir of Helsinki Cathedral.

Not much to say beyond Wow! I’m not a very religious person but this church impresses. The architecture is beautiful and it was so peaceful when we visited I wanted to stay and enjoy it for awhile. There is an absolutely MASSIVE organ that I would love to hear but we weren’t so lucky on the day we visited.
I recommend blocking out a good 20-30 minutes for this cathedral to make sure you get a good look inside and out. If you’re in a pinch you could do it in 5-10 and get the idea.
Admission is free but you can do a quick and easy 5€ donation if you are so inclined.
Chad Taylor — Google review
The most beautiful building in Helsinki! Amazing! I could look at it for hours and will still be in awe of its majestic appeal. It’s stunning.
It’s clean and well maintained despite being touristy and always crowded. It’s free to go inside but donations are very much welcomed.
Its location is very central so as a tourist you can go to several places within the area as well and maximize your time.

Beautiful and iconic cathedral located in the central area of Helsinki. Free entry. The steps infront of the cathedral are really high. Definitely a must visit when you are in the capital city of Finland!
Collins Santhanasamy — Google review
We have been here during wintertime and enjoyed the impressive building from the outside. There are big stairs in front of the building you need to climb to get to the church. Inside it was a bit disappointing since the walls are mostly just plane white. Even if it says the entry fee is five euros it is free since the fee is voluntary. We spent there about ten minutes in total.
Patrick Andersen — Google review
Both the interior and exterior of the church are truly awesome. Situated atop a hill in the city centre, the location lends a remarkable look to the church.
The church forms a significant part of Helsinki's Empire-era centre and serves as a prominent landmark for those arriving by sea. It symbolizes the entire city of Helsinki. Previously known as St. Nicholas Church and Great Cathedral, this magnificent church, which now serves as the main church of the Helsinki Diocese, was finished in 1852. Adorning the roof of the church, sculptures of the twelve apostles stand as guardians of the city.

One of the Helsinki top attractions. Compared to the Russian cathedral - well, it's doesn't have such a rich decoration , it's way more simple. But still, it's magnificent and you can see it from the board of the ship, even before you reach the passanger terninal.
Teodor Zhelyazkov — Google review
The cathedral is beautiful both from inside and outside. It’s very soothing and calm. You can also take a walk outside and sit outside it on the huge stairs peacefully and spend time and have conversations. Loved the place.

One of the best sites to be visited when coming to helsinki. Charming and great building that is breathtaking. It is located in the center, with an arena in front of it, close to the waterfront and Orthodox cathedral
Ali Mahmoud — Google review
Helsinki’s most iconic building, dominating Senate Square and the harbour area, is somewhere any visitor is likely to end up. The square itself is rather windswept and soulless, but the cathedral is an attractive, redeeming feature. Inside, it is interesting but relatively plain, perhaps its most unusual feature the shape and layout; the pews seem to focus on the centre, but the altar is actually in the eastern apse. A visit will not take long, but it is certainly worth a few minutes exploration.
Phil Bradford — Google review
One of Helsinki’s many landmarks. Definitely worth stopping by during the day, but at night time it’s particularly beautiful. Great photo opportunities around the large square surrounding it.
There’s special activities and events that take place throughout the year in this square. Also, this is where the opening sequence in the music video for “Darude - Sandstorm” was filmed!

Beautiful Cathedral in the heart of Helsinki.
Everything looks so majestic and elegant from the outside making you wonder what there's inside and...inside there's nothing. Very austere like the protestant mindset

It is a beautiful place inside and out. Iconic landmark at Helsinki. Located near Senate Square and National Library of Finland. Must visit place at Helsinki. Great place to take photos.
Harindra Sandun Mavikumbure — Google review
Lots of stairs!!!! It’s iconic to the city though so I say it’s a must do. I walked in during a service and it was crazy busy standing room only and that’s the only time in 20years of traveling in Europe that I’ve seen that happen. It’s very pretty on the outside not so much on inside. The real charm is the adjacent square where you can take pictures, grab refreshments, and people watch.
Angelica Davila — Google review
The most iconic monument in Helsinki. A must-visit place.
It's the most simple church i ever visited. Catholics and Orthodox have more flamboyant churches. Very stunned to see such simple church.
Absolutely loved it.
Every tourist in Helsinki should see this place.
Manyak Kedi — Google review
In my opinion Helsinki Cathedral is not quite as attractive as Uspenski, but definitely a must visit church if you are in Helsinki. You can see the monument from quite far away, so it dominates the Helsinki skyline. I was surprised by the inside - it really wasn’t decorated much like most cathedrals with mosaics etc. To enter a 5 Euro donation is asked which can only be paid by card.
Adam Jones — Google review
It's a nice building. When we went, there were prayers happening but we were still allowed to go in quietly.
I thought it was quite plain looking compared to other cathedrals I've visited. But it's still worth a look.

This stunning cathedral is situated on the northern side of the Senate Square. The cathedral is very impressive from inside and out. The white colour and green domes makes the cathedral even more more magnificent. You must take a few steps before you reach the cathedral but it's worth visiting. The entry fee is 5€ per person.

Breathtaking. I had seen pictures, I knew it would be big, but when i saw it for the first time, my jaw dropped. It was so much bigger than i thought! Such a beautiful, gorgeous building. The stairs are so cool.
It wasn't what i expected from the inside, it was different but still great.

I am not quite sure if I like to Cathedral for its ascetics or because it gave us an escape from the coldd for a few minuutes. The Cathedral is typical of a Lutheran structure with very few icons consistent with the Lutheran faith. The Bishop of Helsinki has his seat there. The building was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in neoclassical style and construction lasted from 1830 to 1852.

I went to this place multiple times now the recent visit was with a Red Umbrella Free Walking Tour with our Guide Matti.
The place is majestic with interesting history and the interiors are quite peaceful. It doesn't involve any entrance fees. When I went inside for the first time in Feb 2024, there was a wedding ceremony just starting so the entry was stopped for a while. Weddings are common in summer as I was told.
I could take a seat for a peaceful 10 mins. Also met a Pakistani Christian on the second visit. What are the odds.

Helsinki Cathedral also known as the St. Nicholas Cathedral. It constructed since 1830 and completed after 22 years. You can climb the steps to the cathedral's dome to enjoy the panoramic views of the city.

Stunning cathedral both outside and inside. Nice to sit inside and just enjoy the beautiful decor.
It was busy but not packed, People just came and went quick enough, and it's a large cathedral, so there was no queue, and it was free!!

The Tuomiokirkko stands as a distinguished symbol in Helsinki, its striking white facade commanding attention and admiration. Its location not only enriches the city's skyline but also provides a picturesque backdrop for those fortunate enough to work in its vicinity. The cathedral's steps become a charming retreat in the summer, allowing locals and tourists alike to soak in the atmosphere of this bustling city.

This is a spectacular cathedral that's larger than it appears in photos. The inside is fairly plain. Contrary to what you might read, you don't have to pay to go in but you can donate.
Famous Russian architect Aleksey Gornostayev designed the cathedral, which is one of the largest Orthodox churches in Scandinavia. The church has an ornate exterior and lavish interior decoration, and is popular with tourists because of its location near the North Harbor.
Old Russian cathedral that stands out as the building’s architecture is different than any other building in Helsinki. This cathedral is definitely worth checking out from the inside.

It’s a beautiful cathedral which was constructed with recycle bricks due to budget restrains.
Although it’s modest size, the cathedral is fitted very elegantly with beautiful paintings and decorations.
Be mindful not to use your camera flash inside as there are many valuable artwork.
Give yourself a minimum of 30 minutes to enjoy this spectacular building.

Russian orthodox cathedral. Because of it’s bright colors it definitely stands out in the often cloudy winter sky. The interior is truly beautiful and worth a visit.

A beautiful Russian cathedral that you can see from many different parts of Helsinki due to the hill it’s built on. The architecture is also quite unique compared to other buildings in the city so it’s a refreshing visit. The inside is equally as beautiful and if you have the chance I’d recommend. There was a service going on while I was there so only got a bit of a glimpse from the side.

Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki is the second most popular cathedral in the town. The cathedral's red-brick, Eastern Orthodox architecture is a striking contrast to the surrounding Nordic buildings. Perched atop a hill, it offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. Uspenski Cathedral is a must-see destination in Helsinki, and it provides a unique and enriching cultural experience. 🇫🇮

Helsinki 2nd famous cathedral. Architecture is influenced by Russian design and it is beautiful made with bricks. It is on small hill so when at above you get good view of near by places. Inside architecture is also good. Can't get enough of bricks color and preservation of the cathedral.
There are few steps to climb before you see the main entrance. There are other ways to come.
Very near to market and some food joints.
It is crowded on most of the days.

Helsinki’s Orthodox Cathedral is less striking than its Lutheran counterpart along the road, but is still an attractive building worth a visit. Compared to the rather dark brick exterior, the interior is filled with light, which when the sun shines beautifully captures the wall paintings and gold of the icons. It has a peaceful feel which encourages you to spend a few minutes reflecting. Note opening hours may change around religious festivals such as Holy Week and Easter.

Free to enter. A beautiful Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in Helsinki that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Consecrated in 1868 and designed by Alex Gornostayev, it is also the site of 2 icon thefts.

It was a very beautiful Cathedral both inside and outside. It was about a 5-10 minute walk from the main Helsinki Cathedral, but worth the walk for the view. The inside was filled with the smell of incense for anyone with a sensitivity.

Finland is well-known for many varieties of Christian religions, such as Orthodox, Lutheran, and so on. Because of that, you can find many iconic churches and cathedrals. This cathedral is the iconic one, that you can visit in Helsinki. The exterior is great, you can see many places since this is higher than the other places. But, this place is not friendly with someone who uses a wheelchair.

Located on a short climb up the hill, this is a very interesting place to admire the Eastern Orthodox Church architecture from outside and inside. It was quite the experience to experience the grand exterior and interior of the cathedral.
No information boards if you're coming here alone, and the church interior is not all that big, but still okay to visit on your own.
Recommend the experience as entrance into the cathedral is free, unlike other more famous churches in Helsinki.
Luke Phang — Google review
This cathedral may look big but the opened area to the public is very limited to only a corner of the entrance. It probably took less than 5 minutes to finish this site as you could not really get up close to see the details. If you are in the area, no harm to go visit for a bit; yet definitely no need to come all the way to visit.
Finnish fortress Suomenlinna, located on six islands in the Gulf of Finland, is a popular tourist attraction. The site was originally built by Sweden in the mid-18th century as Sveaborg and later became part of Finland. Today, there are museums, parks, cafes and restaurants as well as Finland's only remaining WWII submarine on the site. Ferries depart from Helsinkis Kauppatori throughout the year.
one of the best tourist attraction near Helsinki. it was a castle built to protect capital from foreign forces. very accessible via ferry from Helsinki port. make sure to keep extra clothes when taking ferry as it could be very windy, specially in winter. also get yourself 4-5 hours to explore it fully.

This was probably the coolest thing we did in Helsinki. You take a ferry to the island. There are a lot of trails, we mostly stayed on the blue line with only a couple deviations. The River that cuts through the middle was awesome. Near the end you can walk up a hill toward some cannons. Don’t miss this!! There are little mounds that look like a hobbit city!! It’s a really cool landscape you can explore. You get great views of Helsinki from the cannon area too! We went into an art shop on the way back and they had some REALLY cool stuff that the locals that LIVE on the island make. Very talented people!! Loved this excursion!!

This was a really cool experience for me, went with a friend during the week and the best part the transportation was included in my 5 day city transport pass. One of the coolest things on the island to see are the cannons, the shipyard and the surrounding views. It's just a really nice place for a chill walk.

Super cool island that is easily accessible via ferry or seabus. Beautiful walk along the ramparts and interesting to see all of the huge cannons up close. A few cafes on one side where one can have lunch, just be wary that they will often only be serving lunch from 12-14:00.

Very nice island to visit. It’s free of charge (except you want to go inside the museums),
You can reach it by the ferry from Market Square. The ferry is a part of the transport system, so the standard fare applies (3.10€ per person). You can buy the ticket at the machine next to the harbour.
Try to go there on a sunny day. I bet it’s much nicer than the rainy weather we had.

If you have to visit one thing whilst in Helsinki then this should be at the top of your list. A mere 20 mins ferry ride from the Helsinki harbour front you will find Suomenlinna. Tickets for the ferry can be purchased at the pier. It is a preserved site, township and fortress. Absolutely stunning things to see all over the island with information scattered across each famous landmark so it is easy to self tour the place yourself. Several museums available to visit too. Most of the houses are private residential areas so it is important to respect their privacy. Spent a good 2.5 hours there just roaming around and taking in all the sights and surroundings. Cafes, restaurants and souvenirs are also available. Must see so don't miss this place.

Nice fortified island in front of the old Helsinki port. It's just 15 minutes ferry ride to it from Kauppatori quay. Take your time to walk around the island after visiting the fort museum. Be mindful though of the residential areas in which people live, indicated by a small blue sign with a house in it.

We visited in autumn, and this island makes for a good half to one day trip from Helsinki. There are many different museums here (you need to pay per entrance if you don't have the Helsinki card), but our personal favourite was the World War 2 submarine and war museums.
There are also historical buildings you can visit, and you can also get scenic views of the sea here. Everything is within Walkable distance, takes about an hour to two to walk non-stop from one end to the other end.
There are also different restaurants here for food if you want to try it out, but nothing caught our eye. We did try an ice cream stall that sold 1 cone for 4.50 euros. As this is a tourist spot, expect things here to be pricey if you're spending money, even the church charges an entrance fee. Otherwise you can also bring your own food and have a picnic here, the King's Gate is quite a good place to sit and chill.
Do check the weather before coming here though, as it was raining when we were here and that somewhat affected our experience as most of the places are unshelthered.
Overall an interesting attraction to visit with different activities. Highly recommended as a half to full day excursion from Helsinki. You can reach this place via a public ferry that departs every 20 minutes from the Market Square.

Suomenlinna fortress is one of my favourite places in Finland. Such a beautiful place. The Suomenlinna fortress is located on the coast of Helsinki and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. I loved everything about this place. You can spend a few good hours walking and exploring the sea fortress. It is a must visit for everyone. I highly recommend it. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops. There's no entry fee to the fortress but you'll have to take a ferry from Helsinki to Suomenlinna fortress. The tickets have different options. For example, buy a single ticket or all-day tickets. The good thing about the tickets is that they can be used for any public transport.

Short ferry ride (20min) and nice to visit for a couple of hours or more. Would I prioritize this over other tourist points in Helsinki: no. I recommend seeing it but not above other things and especially during the winter.
Count about 30min to cross the island on foot and about 3hrs when doing the full tour.
