The Minoan Palace of Knossos is an archaeological site on the island of Crete and is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. The palace was built around 1600 BCE and at its peak, it is estimated that over 100,000 people resided there. The palace has remained largely intact since its construction and provides a unique look into Minoan culture and art.
Amazing place full of history. Easy to walk around, if you are in hurry you could see everything in 15 minutes. I recommend visiting in the morning, because in the afternoon the sun will be above the pillars with the bull painting and it will be harder to take a good photo. A lot of free parking spaces nearby. Adult ticket costs 15€ (april 2022). There are many gift shops across the street.

Knossos Palace is a must see if you're interested in the history of the Minoan civilization and Bronze Age here in Crete.
Beware that there are tour guides that will try to offer you their service and they charge quite a bit. We were told that the normal cost earlier in the day is €100 for a family of four. We were there later in the day, so our guide offered us a price of €70 and we negotiated down to €60. The tour lasted about an hour and ten minutes.
Although tour guides give you the key details, you might want to supplement your tour with a guide book and walk through a second time. It just seemed like we missed some interesting details. There are very few plaques or signs that provide info about what you're seeing.
Note: you can buy Combination tickets that are good for both the Archaeological Museum and the Palace, for up to three days. They cost €20 per person. Our children entered for free based on age and residence.
Overall, I feel that this is a place to see once, so make the most of it!
Jason St. Clair — Google review
For the history, this place is incredible! We walked right up and didn’t have to wait to buy tickets! If you are taking a stroller, it will be a challenge, so keep this in mind. It’s incredible and the history makes it worth the visit! It’s very well preserved and you can discover it at your own pace. Make sure to you take a look at the throne room. Guided tours are available right when you arrive, if of interest!
Mibbie P — Google review
A beautiful place with a piece of history. I recommend buying tickets in advance at the Archaeological Museum, which thematically perfectly combines with the Minoan Palace (the price for a combined ticket for an adult is 20 euros). In the afternoon the place wasn't that crowded, with only occasional groups of people in the most interesting places.
Adam Knetka — Google review
We went on a Sunday, entrance is free on a Sunday.
You need a guide or a detailed account of the site to get any real feel for it. The site has been quite brutally reconstructed and it rips the authenticity out of it.
I appreciate it's a tourist location and it needs to create interest, just don't go there thinking you're going to see Ephesus or the Parthenon.
Phil Eckersley — Google review
One of the most historic sites on the planet. Firstly you enter the park tickets are 8€ during off season btw Nov - March 21st. When you finish paying the entrance fee you are greeted by a guide, if you'd like a private tour for an additional cost you can partake but I choose the virtual tour. To use the virtual tour download the app at the gate, there should be a qr code present for you to do so.
Aaron Corbett — Google review
The palace wasn’t either surprising nor extraordinary, at all, the tickets were quite expensive, I wouldn’t say it’s much worth it. We were definitely expecting something better than just a few renewed ruins, but after all it’s been built nearly 3 thousand years ago, which is really cool. If you have the time and money, I believe it’s worth taking a visit
Mako — Google review
Not a lot of reality left here. The museum has all of the statues, and the English Archaeologist recreated sections of the temple as he saw fit. Many sections were closed off today so you could not get to the whole site. The ruins in Athens are better preserved and more original in nature. Visit the museum!
Shawn O'Neill — Google review
An excellent experience for ancient history on Crete. Ticket booths and washrooms were organized and easy to navigate. Washrooms were very clean. Thankfully there are shady areas on site if you are visiting during the peak heat of the day.
Very limited free parking adjacent to the entrance. Plan to spend around 1 - 2 hours max at the site.
Gayle Labuz — Google review
A must-see if you're visiting Crete.
There's lots to explore and take photos of. Depending on how much you like to explore, you could easily spend hours here.
Highly recommend getting a tour guide if you're in a group. The guides usually hang around the entrance and usually charge around €100 for the tour.
Armin ?au?evi? — Google review
Amazing piece of history! If you are a bit of a history buff, I would definitely recommend this place. Beautiful stunning views, whilst standing on ancient ruins, what could be better! Definitely buy tickets in advance, though, as there was a very long queue.
Becca Cochran — Google review
Beautiful place to visit, but we encountered at least 3 rude staff when we visited and was made to made to purchase a ticket for our 4 year old because we hadn't got out passports on us! (Make sure you have these on you as he should have been free entry).
Beautiful surrounding scenery and you can arrange a guided tour.
Emily Tricarico-Humber — Google review
This site is not the best ruins site I have ever visited. I personnally prefer much more Roma/Italy for ruins. However, I enjoyed discovering the site with kids.
- Large touristic groups.
- Entrance ticket 15.- Eur.
- We have done the complete tour within 1.5hours with 2 small kids and taking our time.
Dazzle — Google review
The entrance is €15 for an adult, which is entirely warranted. If you're not going at a busy time, don't bother with buying tickets online, they are only more expensive.
The palace is huge, expect to spend towards two hours. Definitely worth your time!
I have added a few sample photos 📸, they are probably not representative.

Wonderful site good way to spend a morning or afternoon. Not as big as I was expecting and busy small passages that should be one way but people seem to be walking everywhere which makes it difficult to stop and enjoy the view .a lot was closed off like the royal rooms but very informative from our tour guide .definitely pre book a tour and we had tablets to get a 3d view .
A J — Google review
To appreciate the monument, scale, technical achievement, history etc, we think you need to spend longer than the 1 hour most guided tours offer when combined with a day/1/2 day tour. We spent 2-3 hours walking around, sitting quietly and also eating our picnic lunch. Lots of online background info to help appreciate the site and history. Public bus from the central bus station every 15 mins. Buying tickets from the kiosk at the bus stop cheaper than on the bus. In some ways the most impressive structure, for me is the one most visitors will take for granted, the quadrangle/concourse.
The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is a museum in Heraklion, Crete, which houses artefacts from the Neolithic to the Roman periods. The building was designed by renowned Greek architect Panagiotis Kalkos and is considered one of the best ancient art museums in Europe.
Very well set up, all the information available in English. It has a good organization through the time. They included quite interesting details, the ligth is well set up so most of the time you could take nice pictures. The rooms are plenty of space, so you can enjoy the visit even in crowded moments.
Claudio Garcia — Google review
Great museum and very beautiful items and displays. The only part I didn't like was that I paid full price for a ticket and the Greek/roman statue section was closed and I wasn't told when purchasing which I feel warrants a cheaper price. Takes a while to get around also and if you want to visit the place the artifacts are from (mostly Knossos palace) you can buy the dual ticket and get the number 2 bus. Well worth a trip to both.
Paul King — Google review
This is a must visit museum! It is one of the best museums I’ve ever visited and it is the most important museum to learn about the ancient Minoan culture, history, artwork and artifacts. The selection of items were very extensive, and they were carefully curated both in Greek and English. It is also unique because these are not items you can find in other museums in the world. What’s so impressive to me was how carefully preserved these items were. Or perhaps some of these were carefully restored but one would never think that some were from 4-5000 years ago. I do notice that some people touch some of the artifacts which frustrated me. Perhaps it would be wise to section off some of those items so that they cannot be damaged. There is an app that goes with tours for the museum. However, I find the app a little bit confusing, but nonetheless, you can read up more on certain items carefully after your visit. This museum requires 3 to 4 hours at least to carefully see, and absorb all the information. I highly recommend visiting this museum.
Wendy Law — Google review
The place is quite big. There are 2 floors. Plenty of exhibits. The customer service is excellent. The museum is in the heart of the city, so parking is somewhat difficult to find. In short, the place is good, but I have seen some better museums in my life.

An interesting, affordable (6 euros)museum that we completed in less than an hour. Watch for Ginger the resident cat who lures you in with her meowing affections and nips you when you fall for her wiles lol.
It was nice respite from the pouring march rains. Staff were friendly and offered to store our bags of purchases. A no frills indoor cafeteria Should you need a drink or snack. They allow you to bring bottled water as you walk in the museum

A must have for your visit at Héraklion. Recommended to visit it before going to Kronoss. If you want to see everything clearly, prepare a bottle of water in the bag and the whole afternoon.

Absolutely loved going here ❤️. Why I haven't been here all these years, I'll never know (oh yes, covid came and we had lock downs). On a happier note, I took loads of pictures, it was all so fascinating. I think if anyone plans to go to Knossos Palace, it is a good idea to come here first. I wish I had, as my visit to Knossos Palace would have made way more sense, and I could have placed the objects I saw at the museum, that Knossos.
Paula O'Neill — Google review
If you've been to the palace first, then it makes sense to see the museum. But otherwise it's just full of hundreds of clay bulls!
But if you know the background then it adds the context as to why they're important.
The staff are like boring lifeguards, we got told off so many times for pointing, getting to close to items on display, loitering, laughing to loudly & taking photos posing next to statue's where photos are allowed (see pictures attached)! So it took the fun out of being there.
Ginge Haynes — Google review
This new archaeological museum has so much to see it's almost impossible to absorb everything in one visit. It's simply mind-blowing for all you history geeks out there.
I don't remember the entrance fee but it wasn't much, less than 10 euros, I think.
Go! Immerse yourself into it! Take enough time to really enjoy everything this beautiful museum has to offer.
M M — Google review
Lovely museum with treasures and artifacts from Minoan civilization, from the Palace at Knossos and all over Crete. Well organised with ample air-conditioning. It takes about 2 hours for the whole museum. The statues at the last portion of the museum are stunning.
Ben Kee — Google review
Breathtakingly beautiful exhibition. You'd question what happened to the human race for the past 5000 years, as ancient Greeks arguably make more modern, exquisite and imaginative art works!
It's worth highlighting that the official mobile app of the museum is incredibly helpful - out of all the museums I've visited these years, including the British Museum and Athens Archeology Museum, I'd say this museum's app is the most clear, informative and easy to use one. Makes the visit a lot more guided.

A good place to see history. You can visit the museum here in a relaxed manner and it is not too cluttered. We booked a tour and that was very helpful. I can only recommend. We spent about 1.5 hours there with a guide.

Amazing collection of VERY ancient pottery, sculpture, metals works, burial items and art. So much of each type and many/most in beautiful condition!
The galleries are laid out very well so that it's easy to follow the chronology, with helpful brief info cards for everything.
I've been to a few, and this is a great mid-sized local museum. Astounding exhibits!

Great atmosphere, love that you can see how they decorated their Palace.
Ray Leggett — Google review
Absolutely stunning. I spent 3 hours and was amazed by the amount of artful pottery, jewelry and weapons produced by the Minoan. If you really want to understand what live was like 4000 years ago at the time if the Knossos palace you have to come here and dive into the fascinating history.

The Lux Local Organic Museum
Do the Palace of Knossos before coming here, if you want to have a greater appreciation for the history and adventure that lead to many of these artifacts being featured in this museum.
It is incredible that there is so much in this museum despite being up to 5,000 years old.
My mind was blown that the ancient Greeks saw the Minoans as we see the ancient Greeks. This multi tiered layers of history and mythology have shaped the western world from sports to religion.
A true local and healthy feast for the eyes, mind and spirit.
Kevin L — Google review
There is a combined ticket for visiting the museum and Knossos. We only found out about it after visiting Knossos. The museum was great! We really enjoyed the exposition and the layout. We felt that this is a must if you really want to get an idea of the artefacts found in Knossos and other archaeological sites. We rushed so we only had an hour, I wish we had at least 2.
Elitsa Levendova — Google review
This was a great place to visit. I bought a combined ticket to here and Knossos. There are so many artifacts here and it really takes you through the history of Crete. There's a lot of great information about the place. I could've spent a lot longer here but I went on my last day in Crete and was pretty tired. Would definitely recommend visiting.
Oliver Paterson — Google review
Excellent museum with clear signs and really great exhibitions. The best thing to do in Heraklion. If you can, combine your ticket with going to Knossos. I’d recommend going there first to have context for your visit.
Jessica Coyle — Google review
Pretty modern, clean and interesting museum. Highly recommend seeing the Knossos ruins beforehand (preferably with a guide) to get a better understanding of a lot of the items on display here and make the most of the experience.
WARNING: Although taking pictures inside is allowed, it is not allowed to take them with any gestures, grimaces, etc. (peace signs / thumbs up)
They don't seem to tell you this at the entrance, so a few people, including myself, got in trouble for it. (The staff ask you to delete the photos)
Armin Čaušević — Google review
Very old-fashioned museum, 90s style, absolutely not interactive like other modern museums. Museum keepers are very mean to the tourists. They do not allow to pose for the pictures with the exhibits, and if you do, prepare, that the lady approaches you and demands to delete all the pics off your phone.
As for the exhibits themselves: too much clay, all put together, no proper chronology. To understand what you see, you have to read the long descriptions in a rather small font.
I do not recommend this place. There are better ways to spend 12 €.
Nat Myk — Google review
We stopped in on our last day in Crete and were glad we did. The artifacts are incredible and the way the museum flows is thoughtful and logical. The BIGGEST downside, is that we happened to go the same day as a cruise ship so it was packed. The museum isn't very big so it was loud and at times difficult to get up to see the artifacts.
The staff is great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend getting a guide that knows where all the good stuff is and has some inside knowledge so you can better understand what you're looking at.
Samantha Turnbull — Google review
We bought our tickets on their website, choosing from 4-5pm.
When we went there around 15:30 to be early, they told us it was closed, we showed them our tickets and still refused.
The next day we went early in the morning and showed the lady who denied us the entry the day before if we could use the tickets and she said no, but we had the proof that the museum makes you select the time you’d like to visit (as every single museum in the world), she said it was for “statistics”, to this day, I will never find out what that meant.
We had to beg security to let us in and we could finally appreciate this place.
They urgently need to fix their website, we were not the only ones affected.
Angela Bertrand — Google review
It's a very interesting museum with an overwhelming amount of ceramics, stamps, jewellery, and other treasures from the minoan period and Knossos.
This is really what I missed when visiting the site of the Palace. There it could have been a great help to have the model on exposure together with just a few things from the museum, to make that visit more interesting and as a carot to visit the museum in town.
I spent three amazing hours and knew a lot more about how skilled people were in those days. The pottery really blew my mind! So many different forms and minute decorations. Not speaking of the head of the bull!
I really recommend visiting this museum!

I spent 2 hours walking round in detail the museum is circular so you won't get lost or miss anything with the great culture of Herklion and Crete with disabled access for upstairs. The museum was fantastic and detailed amount of ancient Greece and the hellenistic period that heavily influenced the daily modern day life it is a seek peak Into our past that is a do not miss

A super complete and instructive museum.
The amount of historical items is amazing.
Ancient Greek art, jewellery and history mix between the items of the museum.

We had prepaid combo tickets which were only €5 more than the price for Knossos with 3 days to use them. So glad we did. Lovely artefacts from Minoan sites giving a real insight into their lives which you don’t get from the site alone. Nice cool galleries with seating. A bit crowded.

Sunset Oia is a tour agency that offers an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the trip. They provide well-prepared and generous portions of food and drinks to satisfy their customers' needs. The breathtaking views of the caldera are stunning, especially during sunset. While the hot springs may not be as warm as expected, they still offer a refreshing swim option. Packing layers for early spring trips is recommended due to colder temperatures on the water.
Amazing trip fully recommend this! Efficiently organised from start to finish. Boat was fabulous lots of space for everyone to chill out enjoy the views with plenty of drinks and cool vibe music. The crew were fantastic friendly and helpful the BBQ dinner was delicious. At the end we slowly watched the sunset which was incredible.

We had the BEST time of our lives on this tour. Greece is so special is so many ways but this tour was at another level. We took a sunset tour on the Pardo with Captain Alex and Christina as our stewardess. This was one of the best experiences we could have had and an amazing cap to our honeymoon. Right away, we were met with the highest level of hospitality as we were greeted with drinks and a plate of fruits and cheeses. Both Christina and Alex were attentive to our needs and constantly checked to see if they could do anything to make our experience memorable. They knew the perfect balance between giving us space and offering their insights on the geography and history of the area. The service was top notch and was truly a memorable experience. Highly recommend this duo if you are taking out the Pardo, we wish we could do it again!

Hands-down the best day of our Santorini trip!!
Free pick up and drop off, incredibly friendly staff and crew, delicious food on board, best way to see the entire island, and the sunset... literally to DIE FOR!

We had a great time on the boat trip. We had an Albanian team with the captain named George. They made everything simple. The music was not too loud. The transportation for pick up and drop off was great. We didn’t eat the food but it looked very good. They provide snorkel gear and a towel. Good mix of sightseeing and swimming. No welcome cocktail offered but even though said included. Beer, wine, water and soft drinks only. We would definitely recommend this to others.

Perfect experience in Santorini. Our family of 4 to a private tour with Sunset Oia on the boat "Santorini". The picked us up near hotel and after a beautiful ride, whisked us thru the crowd to our boat. The crew, Isidora and Christopher we fantastic. We went to a few coves and swam, snorkeled , or just floated. We made our way to the volcano and had a great lunch after a swim. When we returned to port, our driver helped us off the boat and escorted us to the van for a ride back to hotel. It was well worth the price, and totally recommend the private tour.

The only downside is that there is a bed on the second floor and it gets a little hot there at night, the air conditioning doesn’t reach there, the air hardly moves.

Chania's Old Venetian Port district is a popular tourist destination for visitors to Greece, with its restored lighthouse and beautiful Venetian-style homes in the Topanas neighborhood. The district is also home to a number of shops and eateries, as well as the Firkas Fortress, built in 1250 to ward off Turkish invasion.
Beautiful place in chania, a must visit!
Great for walking, cafes are nice there.
You can easily spend your day around… and also you can enjoy the fresh air and the great food

If you're visiting Crete and you've never been before then I suggest you definitely visit Chania, especially the old town where the port is located. You can park 5 minutes away on the outskirts and walk into town if you don't want to pay for parking and that's not to say you can see everything in 5 minutes. You will need at least a full day to get the grasp of most of this beautiful town. The port is absolutely awe inspiring and surrounded by various cafes and restaurants with a few of them offering special seafood dishes which are reasonably priced but not cheap.
If you decide to walk to the lighthouse and have a pram or have trouble walking you will find it tricky because it gets very narrow.
At one point you have the choice of climbing down some building sand or up onto the wall but it is worth the effort. We had a pram and there was a man selling oil paintings, we bought a painting and when he saw us struggling he offered to look after the pram. I think he would have offered without us buying anything as the Greek people are so wonderfully kind.
There's a car park right next to the port and some children will insist on helping you park your car if you use it, they will want a tip for this but it does not pay for parking. My wife thought it did and paid them €10 and she regrets it to this day. Parking is €3.50 for 3 hours but if I remember you can pay for 6 hours. We moved the car after 3 hours and parked just outside the car park for free but it does get busy around mid day.

Amazing day in Chania! The port deserves a 5 star. We had taken amazing photos and enjoyed a cold beer in the taverns nearby. If you get the chance to visit, remember to use sun screen as the sun is very strong.

The old port it was the main entrance to the town in the old ages. Now it is the main attraction of the city, full of bars, restaurants and shops. The view it is really pretty. You can walk around and enjoy the vibrancy of the town. The sunset has the best spot. It is the place

Normally I would have given three stars, because the view from the ancient sea wall is stunning, especially at night, but there are some downsides that shouldn't be overlooked.
The Venetian port gets overcrowded; there are moments, quite a few actually, when you feel suffocated by the crowds rushing around.
The whole area seems like a tourist trap; many items sold in the shops aren't related to the local culture.
There are plenty of restaurants around, but it's wise to check reviews from other tourists, especially those with three stars or less, to avoid unpleasant surprises. Most shoreline restaurants charge exorbitant prices (I once paid 45 euros for a palm-sized fish), serve frozen and reheated food (particularly seafood), and cleanliness can be an issue (we were shocked to find out we had to walk through a restaurant's kitchen to reach the restroom).
If you're keen on a sea excursion, it's better to head to one of the neighboring cities; most boats docked in the port charge very high prices (over 400 euros for a group trip of 4–5 people).
The port's highlight (the ancient sea wall) is poorly maintained and, in some spots, littered with garbage.
The last, but not the least, of the negative aspects: c'mon, people, please stop subjecting the poor horses to such a torment. There is nothing romantic or noble about strolling around the port in a carriage pulled by horses suffering from hunger, thirst and heat... not to mention the hustle and bustle of crowds, which alone is a significant source of stress for the poor animals.
Positive aspects:
Strolling on the old breakwater towards the lighthouse is really enjoyable. If you're lucky, you might even spot turtles swimming in the clear water.
PS: Be careful not to fall into the water, as some areas, covered with algae, can be very slippery, and the water is deep.

The port is a very picturesque location and worth a walk from city center bus stops to soak in the scenery and get a bite to eat or shop. Also in the vicinity is the Chania lighthouse which you can get to by walking along a sea wall. The significance of mentioning this is while walking along the wall is a very beautiful photo opportunity of the Port and mountains in the background

Great place to stroll at night (or during the day for that matter) but be aware that this is a very touristic and busy area. It's worth the visit for the nice buildings the very beautiful port and restaurants (a lot of restaurants) but a above all the nice sunsets you can enjoy from the port side. If you would like a nice view of the port itself I would like to recommend to go up to the lighthouse. Also make sure to visit the back alleys for nice little shops with craft works, leather and more...restaurants.

Great shopping and dining options! The Venetian influence is plain to see in the architecture, so different than other Greek isles. We would definitely recommend spending some time just wandering the small streets and enjoying the atmosphere.

Beautiful town.
Many places to see and places to eat. The port is gorgeous all day long.
We really liked going here for a stroll, dinner, ice cream and a snoop in the shops.
Easy to get to - just jump on the bus if your staying in Agia Marina.

The Old Venetian Port has significant importance to the development and history of Chania. We visited it twice. It is a wonderful place to see and you can envision the ships coming in to the harbour on their way from the east and heading out to Venice and Europe. The Port is filled with restaurants and small shops offering any type of keepsake or souvenir toursist could want. We also went on a lovely carriage ride around the old walls of the city which was also informative. We are so pleased that we did. There are also several boats and a ferry available for trips around Crete area.

One of the most charming ports that I’ve visited.
When you visit, you can start walking towards the lighthouse, it’s a 20 min walk
After that you can have a walk in the old streets of Chania and enjoy the lovely restaurants

This old port is a gorgeous hub for incredible views, food, and shopping. Lots of touristy shops and tons of people, but even if that’s not your thing it’s still worth coming for the beautiful view of the Venetian lighthouse, old buildings and the authentic food. Sitting on a bench by the water is really magical as well.

Beautiful location near the city center. It's full of good places to have something to drink or eat, with specialties from all over the world (although i reccomend to avoid food from your country, especially for Italians and in particular pasta)
The sightseeing is good with a nice view of sea.
There is maybe not too much to do nearby, but it's nonetheless a place to go at least once.

Chania was fantastic with lovely architecture and very relaxed atmosphere. There are a few museums to visit in around the main port. The main attraction for us was just taking a stroll around the port enjoying the picturesque buildings and landscape. We would love to go back and stay there for few days as there was plenty more to do in Chania and surrounding area that you can't do in just one day.
There are plenty of restaurants and cafes around the port and a bit further off the busy tourist areas. We tried a few and all were very good. Even though it was peak tourist time in August we didn't struggle to find a place for our large party of 12 people. Service was very friendly and fast wherever we went.
We drove to Chania and arrived just before 10:30 and were able to use the public car park by the port. By 11 in the morning it got very busy so would recommend an early start if you're visiting. There is the usual traffic for a city so it takes a little bit of patience getting in and out.
Overall great day out and would highly recommend visiting Chania.

Beautiful Venetian port, it looks exactly like Venice. Some houses are not in the exact best condition and they lack repairs but overall it looks great. Perfect photo and video spot + quite a few restaurants around. Overall I really recommend paying a visit to the port and it is one of the highlights of Chania.

Absolutely beautiful. I understand why this part of downtown is so popular - it’s stunning, especially at sunset - breathtaking!
Numerous restaurants line the edge of the water. Plenty of room for foot traffic, although I visited near the end of September. I’m sure it’s much more busier during the summer months / tourist season. Any spot along the harbor is a good spot to view the lighthouse and watch the sunset.
Inland of the harbor has many shops and restaurants hidden in every alley and main space.

T he Old Venetian Port in Chania, Crete, is a timeless masterpiece! The charming blend of Venetian, Turkish, and Greek influences creates a picturesque waterfront. Cobblestone streets, vibrant shops, and historic landmarks make every stroll enchanting. Unwind at seaside cafes and soak in the rich history of the lighthouse. A must-visit destination, earning its 5-star rating for its unparalleled beauty and cultural significance.
Tip: Explore the port in the early evening for a magical sunset backdrop, casting warm hues over the Venetian architecture and creating a truly romantic atmosphere.
Fact: The Egyptian Lighthouse at the entrance of the port, built by the Egyptians in the 19th century, stands as a testament to the diverse historical influences that have shaped Chania. It's a captivating piece of maritime history against the backdrop of the Cretan seascape.

The Acropolis Museum is a new glass and steel building housing ancient artifacts from the Acropolis archaeological site. The building is designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and covers ancient ruins, much of which has glass panels to give constant views of the Parthenon. The museum is divided into three levels, with a chronological trip through the centuries beginning on the ground floor with findings from the hills archaic period.
Fantastic museum, i guess it is among the top sights in Athens! I attached lots of photos as the exhibition is just so amazing! So bright inside, loveable atmosphere, loads of history and arts! Ticket costs only €5 in the winter time. They have a cafe inside with the most amazing view over the Acropolis hill. People are very kind here!
Mesmerizing spot ♥️

This place amazed me! Building a modern building architecture over historical attraction. In this I mean, they built building over the ancient bath, that is accessible on Ground floor outside. The amount of history and knowledge given by this place,we did not have an audio guided tour and it was still great.
The museum is fairly large it would take a couple of hour to walk through it all! So go early!
The layout of the museum we're very well thought and designed.
The view, in which ever side or whatever level is only an addition the museum great knowledge.
Whether you do this first before or after the Acropolis, it would be great information to then consolidate your knowledge about the Acropolis.

Very well put together and definitely a must see, after seeing the video presentations the museum has, you feel the only thing that would make this better is if England gave back the Elgin Marbles. I’ve seen them in London, but I feel they would have much stronger meaning if they were in Athens. When you go, definitely visit the dig site under the museum, to say this museum was well thought out is an understatement.

Can easily spend an entire day in the museum. Lots of historical items to see. The book shop sells books in multiple languages. On one of the floors, there is a cafe/restaurant if you need to take a break or when you bring along children to the museum. Purchase the ticket(s) on the museum's website in advance, and you will be able to enter the museum once you've arrived.

It's a very nice museum although a bit confusing. In some cases, it's not possible to take pictures no matter if you have maybe travelled thousands of miles to be there, obviously, I couldn't follow. There is a nice bar on the top floor with a great view of the Parthenon. I suggest purchasing the audio guide else you will not understand what you are looking at.

A beautiful modern museum, full of history and with a great atmosphere. The exhibits are priceless, of course, and the way they are presented is fabulous, giving immediately the feel of how/why/where they were situated in antiquity. The number one feature of this museum is the location and the 360º view around it. It is located under the Acropolis and the big windows are giving a nice view of the surrounding centre of Athens city. The restaurant on the balcony is of very high culinary standards and the view is superb. A "must go" place if you visit Athens.

Wonderful museum. All the ancient treasure but with a modern architecture design. Love the underground ruins. Bookstore is great! Recommend to come early (morning - before lunch time) or later in the afternoon to avoid large groups. Strongly recommend to book tickets online prior to visit.

The Acropolis Museum is my all-time favorite museum. It’s down from the Acropolis and the museum’s glass walls provide stunning views.
You can purchase tickets ahead of time to avoid the line—or even purchase them on your phone while you’re standing in line.
Both outside floors and some of the first floor inside are glass and you can see a dig below. There are four floors. A reading room. An outdoor cafe overlooking the Acropolis. And two gift shops.
The museum captures the airy feel of the Acropolis itself and it’s best viewed when it’s not terribly crowded. I go every year I’m in Athens to visit my favorite displays. Be sure to look up outside the entrance/exit doors to see the statue of Athena as an owl. It’s on top of a metal pole outside.
Beware of aggressive pigeons if you sit outside at the cafe—but dealing with them is absolutely worth it for the view. Also, keep track of your ticket because you’ll likely be asked to produce it again when you leave the cafe.

A must visit in Athens! I’d say, even for people not visiting museums on a regular it is worth to visit this museum!
There is a big area underneath the building itself, which you can have a look at for free.
The single ticket for the museum itself is 15 Euros.
There are 3 floors full of old ancient tools, vases, figures, statues, parts of pillars. It’s an amazing collection of antique parts they’ve found and reconstructed.
It’s also worth mentioning they’ve set all the parts in the same way the old Parthenon is constructed. So on the top floor you will find all the parts from the roof of the Parthenon. This was stunning, to see how wide the roof was and how big the parts and monuments were.
We visited the museum on a Friday late afternoon around 5pm (open until 10pm on Fridays), there was no waiting line on the ticket booth. But we saw lot of people waiting in a long queue on Sunday early afternoon, be aware of that!
We had a look at a lot of things and it took us around 2 hours for it.

This place is amazing. We did arrive at the end of the day and they were closing, but this is incredible. The mere fact that they build the museum on top of an archeological site that you can see through a glass floor is amazing and a must see.
You will have to drop your bag at the entry though.

The new museum is very beautiful and it has a nice panorama terrace with view to the Acropolis!
If you visit, you should have at least 2 hours but you can take half a day here if you look everything carefully.

Beautiful museum! The layout was incredibly beautiful and you could see the ruins underneath the museum. Bring your own headphones and scan the code to get information about the different displays- we forgot ours! The plaque display is oddly placed so on some pieces you have to kneel down to the floor to read what it says.
Aimee Moore — Google review
The architecture of this museum itself is so stunning. The entrance area slopes upward while you view the history and artifacts of the Acropolis’ “slopes” and the whole area has this dot pattern design resembling the foundational columns of the most important buildings.
Then there’s the top floor, which feels like it was made to be a replica of the Parthenon but with modern materials - it has the same number of columns all around (but in steel) and all the archaeological displays are arranged around the main area in the same spots that they were on in the Parthenon. The whole top floor is even aligned to be directionally parallel to the Parthenon. You even get a great view of the real Parthenon from the top floor.
Overall lots of excellent historical pieces with a detailed description of the Acropolis’ history through time. The original Caryatids (from the Erechtheion) are preserved here, and if you’re lucky you might even catch them restoring one with a light pulse technique that was invented in Athens.
All plaques have English translations, so it’s very tourist friendly. There is also a super cool Lego rendition of the Acropolis on the second floor! I would say this is best visited after you’ve been to the real Acropolis, because you will appreciate the history and details a lot more once you’ve seen the real thing.

Fantastic amazing modern architecture absolutely loved the museum which was placed protectively above the ancient ruins below. Lunch was gorgeous sitting on the cantilevered canopy above the entrance and below the Acropolis. The artifacts enclosed are beautifully and imaginatively displayed. Definitely worth a visit when in Athens. Awesome!

Highly recommend this place to visit in Athens! The museum is designed to be visitor friendly and in modern style. The statues were vivid and many of them are with color, and reveals lots of interesting and surprising facts. I did not expect Athena is with red hair since her impression in my mind is simply made of marbles and in white. Besides the exhibitions, there is a fabulous rooftop bar on the second or third floor, on which you can have a good view of the Acropolis! Besides, the gift shop can be a good shopping place. The small statues, clothe handbags and the dictionaries are made delicately!

Great Museum.
I really enjoyed the visit, some information: you are not able to eat or drink while walking around but you can eat or order something at the restaurant on the 3d floor.
The museum was very interesting and i would recommend visiting the acropolis, before going here because it helps you imagine what it would have looked like thousands of years ago.
There is a cloak room just before the start of the museum so you can put your bags or coats there if you do not want to carry them around while walking.
Great Museum and would definitely recommend.

This was an amazing experience! Many audio guides will just read the plaques in front of the artifacts so make sure to find more in-depth ones if that’s more your style. At the second floor they have a huge cafeteria bistro that you can enjoy your coffee looking at Parthenon and lykovitos hill .

Tips : if you are below 25 and from Europe, you can get free entrance - you just have to show a document proving that (i used my passport). I really appreciate that they do that - I think it’s encouraging youth to visit more cultural attractions.

Awesome museum full of ancient (BC) artifacts all found locally! Very close to the Acropolis and a short walk to shopping and restaurants. This is a 'can't miss' visit but be forewarned - get here early because the line to get in gets very long very quickly. To make this visit even sweeter is the fact that directly under the museum is a live excavation site that you can wander in!

Must see attraction when coming to Athens. The museum itself is spectacular. Minimal wait time to enter (less than 10 minutes), staff were very helpful. It cost €10 for a single ticket on a weekday, which allowed you to view the entirety of the museum. The exhibits were stunning, and the cafe and views of the city were also stunning from the second floor.
There was additionally a special limited attraction on the ground floor, which is only accessible by paying a secondary charge of €10. Overall, great place and would love to visit again.

The museum is truly amazing. I had a one of a kind experience touring around. Everything is in several languages so understanding what each piece is was very simple. The layout is super fluid and the staff is very pleasant. Admission is on the cheaper side (not including a tour) and I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by the price of admission. I almost went back a second day because of how many things there are to read and look at. 10/10 experience.

Surely one of the world’s best museums. Even though it’s €10 entry, it is great value. I spent 4 hours here, it was so fascinating. You can learn a lot here. The objects are very well looked after and the space itself is quite beautiful.
The staff are bullies though, a little bit. I think perhaps they know they are in a truly incredible place and get too excited about that.
There is a bonus archaeological excavation under the building as part of the ticket.
Don’t forget to take a photo of the Acropolis outside the restaurant on the second floor.
The Parthenon is an Ancient Greek temple on the Acropolis in Athens. After being built between 447BCE and 432BCE, it was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The temple has been subjected to fires, pirate sackings and military sieges but still stands today.

Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Construction began in 447 BC, when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of it's power. It was completed in in 438 BC, although the decoration continued till 432 BC. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The temple is generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural orders. Since 2007 the Greek Ministry of Culture is carrying out a selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure. It is better to book the tickets online otherwise be prepared to stand in a long queue for minimum half an hour with no shelter above your head. It is better to visit after 5 PM when cruise and tour traffic is over. The view from the top is stunning. A good walking shoe is must and avoid high heels and don't forget it is a steep walk but doable with reasonable fitness. The lift is available for needy people and on the top it is mostly flat. Parthenon is THE place which can't be missed in Athens...

It is a place of tremendous beauty and history, all rolled into one, it is without doubt a magnificent achievement and seeing the stones in reality, certainly steeps you into their past lives and tragedy. There is a fair amount of uphill walking and little in terms of reading material. Staff quite aggressive when one accidentally walks to a restricted pet, which happens to be unmarked

FYI - water is super expressive inside the Parthenon so bring your own or pay up.
It is amazing what the Athenians were able to build and being able to walk around and absorb the ancient history is truly inspiring.
I was able to get some early morning photos which added to the beauty.
I did not buy tickets in advance and I think it only set me back 15 minutes.
FYI - If you are a student or you are traveling with kids bring your kid’s passport to get the student discount. This is to show the age. No negotiation whatsoever. My son is 16 and had his student ID. Didn’t matter, no passport, no discount. So, I had to pay the full price for him.

History! Fantastic place! Must see! Good to see the progress of rebuilding these beautiful buildings! A lifetime memory for every visitor! Highly recommended to come and see if you are in Athens. Buy your ticket online and come early as the heat can rise high and the crowds of people.

Truly beautiful experience. It's astonishing when one realizes the significance of this historical monument. Worth the visit; I would recommend having a guided tour as there are so many things to learn and so little time. I would also recommend buying tickets beforehand (online) but from the official government website (hhticket.gr).

Stunning place. Recommended going later in the afternoon for sunset which is beautiful.
Path to top is rather difficult, and a certain level of fitness is required

This is my second visit in the last 10 years. The wow factor is gone, but the sight remains overwhelming. Not suitable for wheelchair and people having difficulty climbing stairs, as there are some steeper slopes and about 90 steps. The best time to go is in spring and fall, and summer temperature could be hot on all the stone and rock surfaces. If you join a tour group that purchased tickets in advance, the wait is above 30 minutes. On your own wait time could be 1-2 hours.

Complete stunning! The Parthenon, a symbol of classical Greece, stands proudly atop the Acropolis in Athens. Its grandeur and architectural brilliance continue to inspire awe centuries later. Dedicated to the goddess Athena, this masterpiece showcases Doric columns, intricate friezes, and a rich history that beckons visitors to marvel at its enduring magnificence. It is a must visit to go to when in Athens. I highly recommend.

Greece as we know is the epicenter of all the major events in the history of europe and this place makes u feel the same. The ruins still has so much life in it that it oozes the history out. This place goes restoration from time to time and may hamper the photographic experience. Rest once in a lifetime experience with beautiful view of Athens city.

Beautiful buildings and stunning views, there is some maintenance going on but you can still visit everything. Definitely worth a visit huge crowds and some waiting time to get in so be warned. I recommend visiting an ancient civilization

Incredible standing amongst such history and amazing architecture. The views of the city are great.
Very hot as there are literally 2 trees once you have gone to the top.
Best times to go are early morning or late afternoon as the temps are cooler and the structures themselves provide shade.

It is magnificent and grand.
But it is out in the sun.
If you are going in summer, be careful of the heat and people - tins of them.
Now, don't let this discourage you, you should go either in the morning or afternoon but if you want to learn absolutely everything there is to learn about this place then you should visit the museum. It is the perfect place to learn all about Parthenon.
The view of Athens from the top of Acropolis is beautiful.

Just an incredible place that is a must see as it gives you a true sense of the size and scale of the site. Well worth the visit but it can be very hot and crowded during peak season. My visit was in Late October so it was fantastic.

Pantheon in Rome is an awesome place. It’s one of the few monuments which was constructed many centuries ago but with stood the earth quakes. The highlight is its dome which is unique in the world and it’s amazing to see the architecture of those times.

Beautiful archeological site. Graffiti isn’t as bad as with the rest of Athens and no smell of urine. Humans have left their mark however. That said, the acropolis is beautiful. Let’s face it, you have to go. There are throngs of people of course, so if you want cool pictures, go super early or be tall like me and you can cut out most of them.

There are no words to review this place. Parthenon is a wonder of our human culture. Built on Acropolis hill, this building is a temple and was used as a mosque and a church under various rulers of Athens. Now, the reconstruction work is going on and the added sculptures are almost 100% ruined but the structure still stands. Visiting Acropolis Museum surely clears the structural idea of the Parthenon.

Must visit site with historic architecture aplenty. The hilltop at Acropolis should be on every visitor list to Athens. It's simply amazing.

Lots to see on way up, spectacular views from the top. Would have happily paid the 56€ package (museum Inc) but coming on a religious holiday meant free entry, even for us atheists, so if you do book in advance, do a little research first.

Absolutely stunning. Visited in April, busy but not packed like I’ve been told. Key points: bathrooms are scarce, so plan accordingly and there’s lines. Buy tickets prior to arrival if you’re able, or search a walking guide tour that includes entrance tickets. Worth experiencing yourself!
Darrin Baxter — Google review
Breathtakingly beautiful piece of history and architecture. I’d recommend going early in the morning, first thing when the acropolis opens, as it can get very busy and crowded later on during the day. I downloaded the audio guide which was quite good and as I’m a slow reader it helped.
Lots to look at apart from the Panthenon too. Beautiful views over Athens on the terrace/ balcony/ platform.
A must visit !
The Acropolis of Athens is the most important and iconic monument in Greece, and one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. It is a sacred site dedicated to Athena, and it is where many historic events have taken place including the fall of the Athenian Empire to Sparta in 404 B.C., as well as battles between Athenians and Persians.
Obviously a historic landmark and must see....beautiful part of history with incredible views of Athens ad surrounding coast line.
With any historic landmarks there were unfortunately preservation efforts taking place with equipment and scaffolding which slightly takes away
However there are still plenty photo worthy spots

Buy the combined ticket online. You then just scan or show it at the entrance. Highly recommended! I didn't wait at all..
As for the Acropolis - it's definitely worth it, most impressive and interesting structure, however not my favourite of the top sites. It is great, no doubt, but the crowd is unimaginable, thus you can't really enjoy peaceful exploration. The top site can be explored in about an hour, HOWEVER (!!) be careful not to exit prematurely or you'll have to buy another ticket, depending on where you enter from. There are two entrances: on the top, and from the main street in front of the big glass museum. You should take the lower entrance and ask how to make your way up. I took the upper one, explored the Acropolis, exited, and was not allowed to go in from the other way. And I didn't see a way down through the Acropolis, but... oh well. The view is also good, the structure is in reconstruction, so the best thing about this part were the few statues.
Marin ?SayanMk? Kolev — Google review
The oldest acropolis in the world. Old, majestic, incredible, magical. I had no idea how this place would swallow me up. We were lucky that there were significantly fewer visitors that day. Some photos look like we are alone on the acropolis. I will never forget this visit.

Truly just a breathe taking experience! Healthy walk with beautiful vegetation all around. Spectacular views! - you can pretty much see all of Athens just stretching out in every direction around you. This place really just left me feeling full of wonderment looking at the beauty and craftsmanship of the marble columns! I could have spent hours up there just relaxing and taking in the views of Athens. Give yourself a minimum of 1+ hours to wonder about, this is not an experience you want to rush through.
Paul Roberts — Google review
Very clean. It was busy, but easy to gain entrance and explore. Wear shoes with good support and traction. The marble surfaces can be extremely slippery and uneven. I would set aside about 3 hours to see this sight.

What an astonishing piece of history!!! I couldn't recommend this monument more wholeheartedly, a brilliant building with a gorgeous history, we were lucky enough that our afternoon visit wasn't so busy, and the overall experience was fantastic. I would only suggest that you purchase tickets early as some mornings can be quite busy, but having the tickets means the que isn't too bad.

Wonderful place to visit! Truly remarkable and full of history and background for great photos. Great views of the city.
To avoid crowds go earlier around 8am. Later it gets crowded and hotter. Went 3pm and it was busy in some areas and difficult to get pictures without strangers.
Buy tickets in advance to avoid longer queues.
Timed entry best to arrive at the scheduled time to avoid having to wait by the entrance.
Walk area is very nice and quiet.
Loads to see so plan to stay roughly 2hrs even more if want to seat around and marvel at the architecture grandiose around.
Kids might get bored as there is nothing interesting for them.
Enough supply of people looking to have the best instagram photo so be patient.

It was a great place to visit. The entrance fee is 10€/person. You should know that those of you who are less than 25 years old, from any European area, can go in for free. Let them know, otherwise, they won’t ask you about it.
The place wasn’t crowded at all (early February).

It's the top place to visit in Greece and for a reason. All the history, the place itself, the constructions, the temples the theaters. Its absolutely a must do. Really enjoyed the view from the top. One of the most intriguing and iconic places. With a rich history and "how the heck this has been built", so interesting to visit this place. It gets very hot during the day so it's better to walk early in the morning or at sunset. A great sunset view across the museum. A must see place.

Good iconic place to visit, can be very busy but when we went (mid afternoon) it was quiet (and very hot - there isn't much shade here). A lot of steps to climb so you need to be fairly mobile.

Nice place to be but not that much to do there. A lot of people waited at the ticket booth while there were 2 unused ticket machines nearby. After buying a ticket, the waiting line is incredibly long,l. Tickets must be purchased for a specific time slot. There used to be 23k visitors per day, now it is capped to 20k so there are 'a lot' of people on site anytime.

Stunning views of a historic site. It was impressive to see all the remains and grateful of what has been restored. You will get some of the best views of the city as well as the Greek flag flying in the wind.
Solon Stephanou — Google review
Recommend going early to beat the crowds. It’s a lot of walking and can take up to an hour if you soak it all in. Wear comfy shoes with a decent tread. It can get slippery on some of the smoother stones. I recommend seeing the museum FIRST to learn about it, then visit it in person. Great view!
Vincent Lombardo — Google review
Certainly busier to visit than it was last time I was here 7 years ago. Maybe due to tourist numbers, maybe due to certain changes hurding visitors around like cattle now, maybe due to the extra roping off of areas and walkways giving less freedom to explore. Whichever it is, definitely get tickets in advance....you'll queue longer for those than actually getting in.
Other than that, still a fantastic monument to visit with breath taking views once your at the summit....
Stephen Evans — Google review
I bought my tickets online, adding the audioguide in my home language and it was a fantastic experience, there are so many things to know and if you don't invest a few euros you miss 90% and you will end up just watching carved stones. I suggest joining the first schedule at 8:00 am because very soon the place gets packed and you cannot enjoy or take good pictures.

It definitely worths dedicating some time to visit the place, see the Parthenon and learn about its history through the years.
Tip: Free entrance every first Sunday of the month.

Although it was extremely windy when I visited, the views and being at a site where so much important history took place was well worth the effort. Hold on to the handrails if you need to, but if you’re in Athens, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this majestic place!

Can't say much except that this place was absolutely amazing. I lived every minute of it. The crowds were huge but that did not curve my interest or excitement one bit. Pack some water and maybe some sun block it's hot with pretty much no shade. Put your good traction shoes on as some of the steps can be very slippery even when dry.

Amazing history and architecture, the best time to visit is first thing in the morning or at sunset, but definitely check the closing times so you allow enough time at the top before they start ushering people out. Avoid the middle of the day when many cruise ships come in with tour buses.

Absolutely Amazing!!! This is the perfect time to visit as it wasn't crazy crowded. Weather was perfect with a slight breeze to ease the walk up. Recommend that you go out on the stadium side, more walking and it will bring you out in town near the museum. But you will have additional views and sights as you go down. All missed when exiting through the main entrance.

Make sure to reserve ahead online tickets to save the wait in the very long line to the tickets office.
The entry line was short and quick.
We enjoyed walking up the hill and the view at the top 360° is amazing. We were lucky to have a very bright weather with view to far ahead in all directions.
Some of the roads to the top can be crowded but mostly we felt there is enough room.
Make sure to equip with hat and water as there isn't too much shade there.

You feel the history when walking around the Acropolis. There are concrete walking paths so anyone can get around safely. There is also an elevator for easy wheelchair accessibility.
Koukounaries Beach is a crescent-shaped beach located in the southwest of Skiathos Island. It's a popular and picturesque spot with soft sand, shallow blue-green water, and a beautiful pine forest that runs along the back of the beach. The area is well-organized with plenty of sunbeds, water sports facilities, and cafes within walking distance.
Lovely beach but unfortunately when we visited early Sept it was raining and cloudy
Alison Taylor — Google review
Very nice beach! I cant say for the main season, but in september it is not overcrowded. There is plenty of sunbeds. Usually, the first two rows are more expensive (30e) but the rest are 10e for umbrela and 2 sunbeds. There is some natural shade to put the towels down. But, beware, there is a lot of pointy pine leaves. Beach bars are nothing special. Water is great, crystal clear, a lot of fish swimming around. 2 swans usually swim around also. The beach is accessible from stop 26 or 23, Depends which part you prefer. Near stop 23 there is a well supplied market, 500m from the beach. Sadly, yeou cant walk all the way around the nearby lake, but nevertheless, combined with cleared roads through the forest, it can be a great place for a run. Around the lake you can bump into some rabbits and ducks. If you are on Skiathos, definitely a must see!

At Koukounaries beach, it's a slice of paradise. Crystal-clear water, tranquil spring vibes. Golden sand glistening in the sun. Plus, the magic touch? A lush forest just steps away. Nature's haven, right in front of you. During spring, it's remarkably serene, offering a quiet escape. The water's so clear, you can see straight to the bottom. And the best part? During spring and winter the beach isn't crowded, allowing for a peaceful sunbathing session. Koukounaries truly captures the essence of natural beauty, with its stunning coastline and the nearby forest adding to its allure. A must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility amidst nature's splendor.
Panagiotis Symeonidis — Google review
The beach is indeed very nice, having the forest nearby is a big plus, you can rest in the shades. The water is very child friendly as it goes deep very smooth...e.g. in 5 m water is 50cm deep. Water sports / activities can be dobe here (scuba, skijet, ski, banana etc.). The missing star from my review goes to the food that can be found here as the menu contains just junk/fast food. Not even a single taverna to offer some grill fish or fresh sea food. Mainly burgers, fries, nuggets, some pre-done salads and other frozen products. For my family this was a big minus. As for the second "covid" year ...it was not crowded at all. Cheers !

Nice sandy beach with a lot of free facilities. It is accessible to people with disabilities, equipped with Seatrac. They have showers and round shaped, beach changing rooms, that take everyone by surprise because they stop to explore what is that round beige/ecru colored structure under the pine trees.
There are a lot of rows of sunbeds, even some under the pine trees. But you can also find a spot on the sand if you do not wish to pay for a sunbed, although on a sunny day it gets crowded fast. There is also the possibility to go diving or do water sports.
The beach has coffee/restaurant/bar shops that also offer snacks if you like to have a lunch. A lot of people choose to visit it during rainy days just to sit and enjoy a quick bite next to the sea.
It is ideal to visit if the wind comes from the North as it doesn’t get affected, being covered by the pine trees, you can still swim. It has a bus stop, only a few meters from its entrance and in general it is easily accessible by any type of vehicle.
Overall, it is probably the most organized beach on the whole of the island and in a magnificent scenery, adjacent to Limni (lake) Strofilias, which is a protected biotope.

The beach is nice, but that's only if you like crowds.
It is long, so naturally there are lots of people. But you can always find free umbrellas with sunbeds (price in August 15€).
They serve food and drinks to your sunbeds or you can stand up and choose one of few beach restaurants with fast food.
The beach offers watersports and also very good diving school. And that was the only reason we went there twice.

The second most famous beach of Skiathos ( Lalaria is #1 ). It is a nice beach but overestimated IMHO. It is by no means a bad beach. It's sandy, the water is at a nice temperature and there are plenty of sunbeds all over the place. The beach bars have reasonable prices ( compared to other famous beaches of other islands ). Small and big Aselinos and Tsougria beaches and Lalaria are nicer however. Koukounaries on the other hand has plenty of activities such as diving schools and equipment, water sports for everyone and beach bars. If you want that laid back sensation, then go to little Aselinos, it's a no brainer.

The tourist beach. Lots of people, sand beach. 2 chairs and umbrella 15€. Bars with service to beach chairs. Some paid water activities. Pine trees offer shade. For 3€ each way bus from town stops right at beach. Skiathos has lots of really scenic beaches.

Lovely long, clean and wide sandy beach backed by pine and cypress woodland. Beach is predominantly covered by sunbeds with a few spaces for those preferring to lay a towel on the sand. Sunbeds pricey at €15 for cheapest pairs. Some of the luxury sofa types and near sea are more expensive. Refreshments can be ordered and paid for at the sunbed. Sand is soft and has gentle slope into the sea which is clear and free of stones and rocks so ideal for swimming. The beach can get very busy in high season. Some resources here such as pedalos, ski and dive school, speed water-rides etc for the more adventurous types. Decent toilet facilities and beach bars. The beach is well served by local bus from stops 23 east side of beach and 26 for the west side. Also accessible by water taxi from skiathos Town. Good car parking nearby too.

The airplant leave us around 6-7 am on the island and we was no welcome to our hotel until 12am. So I had the idea to take the bus and visit "Koukounaries" early in the morning. We was very tired but we said go to the beach and relax a bit. Around 8am we was in this beach. We see many green trees there and we start to move in the beach. But the image was unbelievable. This famous and gorgeous beach was alone there for us. No one was there cause the early time. We just sit there, the sea has 0 wind and we just look all this gorgeous beach without people. Wow.. This is something that many people want to feel once.
We enter and the water was shallow and very clean. It was like a mirror. The sand was amazing and soft but on eye probably was the most beautiful sand I have ever see. It was very bright gold. Almost yellow. I felt I was in some tropical island even thought, this beach has nothing to envy against tropical beaches. If you see this beach without people and wind, probably you will felt in love forever.
We took pictures and we just sit there and watch this beach empty and calm. After 1 hour the people start to come and around 11:30 we gone with plenty memories in our heads.
Overall, one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen and one of the most serious. All in this beach are gorgeous and great.

- pine trees lining up along the beaches
- Crystal-clear water offers visibility of swimming litte fishes.
- Ideal for families with babies/toddlers due to shallow and calm water (Blue Flag beach with fine sand, no need for aqua shoes). Also decent playground on West Side for small kids.
- decent changing facilities, toilets and showers.
- Sunbeds available at 15 euros for a pair and an umbrella, consistent pricing along the entire long sandy beach.
- Grocery store at one end, swans & geese can be spotted at the other.
- Variety of water sports fun activities for couples and families.
- Access by white public bus (3 euros from Skiathos town as of today) or ample car parkings near the east side (bridge side)
- Beer prices range between 5-7 euros (paid 5 euro for large beer on table), takeaway option available.
- I visited around lunchtime, there was no crowds at all, perhaps I was lucky due to cloudy weather.
- Pack a picnic or bring your own drinks as prices here are on higher side.
- Perfect for spending a relaxing half-day in August

Great building and Tower. Not really white ;) Though the second biggest city in Greece, Thessaloniki does really feel smaller - a plus, I consider, for such a historic city. There are many historical sites all over Thessaloniki, many of which are not widely known. On Google Maps, just tap the compass to see these, filter by attractions and distance, it'd bring attractions near you and just explore.

Situated along the waterfront, it offers panoramic views of the city and the Aegean Sea from its top observation deck. The tower itself is steeped in history, having served various purposes throughout the centuries, including as a fortress, a prison, and now as a museum showcasing Thessaloniki's rich cultural heritage. Inside, visitors can explore fascinating exhibits, artifacts, and displays that provide insight into the city's past. The surrounding area is vibrant, with plenty of cafes, shops, and cultural attractions nearby, making it an ideal spot to spend a few hours soaking in the atmosphere of this beautiful city. Very fun learning experience. Scanned the QR code for an English audio. We entered for Free on the National Free Museum day. For tall people, mind your head in most of the inside. Wonderful view from the top!
Sara Trenouth — Google review
What a cool historical spot! Well worth the 3 euro to get in and it was fun being able to go to the top and look out! So much history to explore here!
Gunnar Gabrielson — Google review
It's worth going up to see the view from the top. I didn't find the museum as interesting. They provide audio guides in a variety of languages but these are far too long and the voice is rather monotonous. I already learnt about the history on various tours I had done across Thessaloniki, so I had a good understanding of the history and significance of the White Tower beforehand.
Jo-Anne Samuels — Google review
The Tower is a relic of the city’s fortification. Currently a museum of the history of Thessaloniki. The entrance costs 3 euro and you better take that audio guide with you (it’s free od charge) because everything is only in greek. Six floors of interesting content and a balcony with a magnificent view. Prepare yourself for some stairs (start a week before on that stair climber at your gym ;)).
Pan Piotr — Google review
A beautiful place with a panorama. The ticket (6€) includes an audio guide in 4 languages (English and Russian for sure), but you need your own headphones for the audio guide. This surprised me a little. There are a lot of installations inside, but everything is in Greek and an audio guide would help to understand more. At the very top there is a beautiful panorama of the city around.
Ira Noskova — Google review
Had to be visited as the main attraction point in Thessaloniki. The area around it is great and externally it is an impressive building. The view from the top is great but than again it is not hugely tall and after a few photos I assume you get down.
I can't see the appeal of the exhibition inside unless you are Greek speaking.
There is not a single English description next to the exhibitions.
Audio guide recommended by QR code was: done poorly and not good to walk through the exhibitions (single audio track per floor). You can't listen to it on mobile unless you had earphones on you or quickly each floor is filled with cacophony of multiple visitors listening loudly on mobile.
Google lens for translation worked on some exhibits but is will drain your mobile battery quickly.
This could easily be improved.
Sam Aberman — Google review
It is kind of a place populated by homeless people. You can take a boat tour here, but I did not really like it overall as it is not really friendly for tourists infrastructure wise and information points or clean spaces or benches to sit outside in the shade when there is very hot to be outside.
Ana Vivdici — Google review
The icon of Thessaloniki with great view from the top of the tower.
If you want to visit the museum, then you should think about a combined 3 days ticket. It will allow you to visit 3 museums in the city and Rotunda. So you can spare some money. It costs 15€.

A notable landmark in the centre of Thessaloniki. A great place for photography. ❤️No far away is the Cultural route bus stop, where you can take bus 50 to get around the city in 50 minutes. Tickets can be bought on the bus. (~2 euro) Walk from stop 10 or 11 to the beach. Amazing!

Thessaloniki is a beautiful city with access to the sea, a rich history and a lot of things to visit. One of those is the white tower about which there are complaints. They don't have a guide in the Serbian language, even though most of the tourists are from Serbia, and they charge us more for the ticket because we are not in the European Union.
Milica Radakovic — Google review
The White Tower was the first place we visited after check-in into our hotel and I am really glad we did as each floor gave us a thorough introduction to the layers of history that makes up Thessaloniki. Well worth the visit.

Must go monument. Worth the visit. Beautiful view of the sea front line of Thessaloniki. You can learn a lot of Thessaloniki's history and see some old photos on how Thessaloniki looked like at the beginning of the 20th century

White tower was nice, even in the off season was still surrounded by tourists. We enjoyed the boats outside which do small rides for 30 minutes we enjoyed but you have to buy drink as a condition.
Dominic Evans — Google review
The White Tower was really nice. Personally I was positively shocked that when the cashier asked us for the ID, and we said that we are from Poland, we got the free tickets so that was really good.
Inside there is a museum with the history of Thesaloniki described from a lot of different perspectives like: migration, historical, geographical, commercial, artistic etc.
At the very top there is a view point where you have a 360° view for Thesaloniki.
Also there is a free audio guide (you have a QR code that you have to scan with your phone) and a free WiFi. It is recommended to take headphones with you to be able listen to the audio guide.

A must visit in Thessaloniki. The entrance fee is 3 euros per person but you will have an amazing view from the top of the White Tower.

The most known place of Thessaloniki. The tower is dominating the area. Thousands of people flock on this area at times. It's one of the most popular spots in town for many reasons and it's the main city attraction.
Meteora Monasteries, a World Heritage site consisting of six Eastern Orthodox monasteries, are located in Kalambaka. These monasteries were built on top of rock pillars amidst breathtaking scenery and fresh air. To reach the location safely, it is recommended to hire a car and drive carefully due to the presence of scary curves on the way.
One of the places that gives you the feeling that you have reached heaven, when you are actually in the world.
Despite the distance from Athens or Thessaloniki the journey to Meteora is particularly worthwhile, you can get there by train independently or alternatively book a guided tour in advance. It is very important to arrive in modest attire, long pants and a skirt for women, in addition to T-shirts, it is recommended to arrive in the spring, summer and fall season, enjoy

I went here on an organised coach tour from Corfu. You can can get some stunning pictures of the rock formations by the side of the road at various points before going to any of the monasteries. The limited stopping spaces can become very busy at times. The tour I was on visited two monasteries. At the first monastery we made our way up quite a few steps to pay the first entrance fee of 3 EUR. There are a few spots on the way up to take more pictures.
Fortunately we had an English speaking guide included in the tour price which really helped to understand the history and the meaning of the paintings etc.Definitely worth it if you can have a guided tour. We spent about an hour here
The second monastery was down a lot of steps then up to pay the entrance fee. Again the guide explained about the history to provide some context. There were also a few information boards to read in English. We stayed here for approximately 45 minutes. Toilet facilities were available at both places along with small gift shops. Modest clothing is required and ladies have to purchase a covering if they are not wearing a skirt. Great opportunity to see a wonderful UNESCO heritage site. You could spend all day here if you walked around and went to a few more monasteries.

A must visit, while in Greece not just for it’s historical & immaculately kept buildings, the views are breathtaking & it is & was spiritually for me. But be prepared lots of steps if you want to go inside any of the churches. Also it is approx 4/5 hr drive North of Athens.

If you haven’t visited this amazing place you might consider visiting it. We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We visited all 6 open monasteries and also met a sunset. Apart from history and nature, stunning landscapes and culture we had a chance to taste a local Greek cuisine and loved it. I highly recommend visiting the Meteora.
Ivan Newland — Google review
Unique place. We went there with a tour starting in Athens. In total, we spent around 12 hours. It took us 5 hours to get there by bus. We visited three monasteries and stopped many times along the road for pictures in panoramic spots. Amazing place.

Wonderful places!! It's definitely worth a visit or a day trip from nearby cities or Thessaloniki. (About 3 hours drive each way)
There is dress code for men and women. Men: long pants; women: long skirts.
They do have some cover up cloth for those guests who may need it.
Don't worry about the stairs, they are in good condition and enjoy the view as you get there.
Remember to being cash for the ticket (3 euro per adult visitor).
Roads are narrow and windy to go up or down as you enter the area. If you are easy to get car sick, be prepared for some remedies.
Avoid the peak tourist times if you can to enjoy the places quietly and leisurely. They are not very big, but so have some detailed religious work can be observed. Along with some Greek and English explanations.
Do watch out for signs for where photos or video not allowed. Be respectful and considerate. Enjoy your time and follow the rules and guidelines there. Don’t forget to visit the shops there to see if you may want to pick up some items.

The sight is amazing! The fresh air and the greenery, simply outstanding. Drive carefully there because the roads have scary curves. And don't go alone, you might find it boring. It good place for basic hiking too!

The monasteries on top of the tall spires is amazing. We visited two of them and saw the churches inside. Before setting out to the monasteries, definitely go to the bathroom before because each monastery bathroom has a long line.

Breathtaking. I visited the area on a tour, and all the 3 monasteries we visited, and the other 3 we only saw from the outside, were sitting in some of the most gorgeous locations, hanging up on the columns.
Each monastery costs 3 euros to enter. Be aware that most of them, except "The Monastery of St. Stephan", aren't accessible to people in wheel chairs, and there is a fair amount of stairs everywhere.

What a beautiful place. We booked our tour with a local guide and it was definitely worth it. Georgia was very knowledgeable about Greek orthodox religion and the geology of the rock formation. Highly recommend

One of 6 monasteries in Meteora. Beautiful place to visit. Be aware modest dress only or they won't let you in. If a woman doesn't have a dress on, they'll provide you a wrap to use. You may or may not see a monk while here. Also there are a couple indoor areas that photographs are not allowed. Great little museum and gift shop where you can buy some souvenirs, including grappa they make onsite! Wonderful views from pretty much anywhere.
Philip Smith — Google review
This has to be a wonder of the world! You must put this on your bucket list. Avoid peak times and often the most enjoyable part is hiking around the mountains and not necessarily in the monasteries.
Shae Sterling — Google review
The combination of the unusual rock formations and the medieval monasteries sitting on their peaks makes Meteora a very unique place. A few tourist agencies offer a sunset tours but I took a taxi to the sunset viewpoints. The panoramic views of the otherworldly landscape bathed in the golden rays of the setting sun simply took my breath away. Visiting some monasteries perching on the top of the rock pillars is also an experience like no other. If you enjoy hiking, you should spend a few days in this area. I thoroughly loved this place.

A must visit site if you are traveling around. There are many monasteries you can climb and visit, most or whole of them requires a modest clothes and a low cost. And there is one we tried to enter but was closed (only Tuesdays). It is also beautiful just being around without entering.

Rich in history. View is amazing. Visited 3 out of the 6 monasteries in 1 day. Nothing much else to do around here. I would suggest max 2 nights. Check the visiting days of the monasteries.

This place is incredible, so beautiful. You should visit at least one of the monasteries. Wear decent clothes that cover enough like your shoulders, knees, etc.
Tip: hike around this place to discover the whole area and to avoid the crowds. Go watch the sunrise and enjoy the views.

Stunning views and hard climbs. The monasteries are well worth it though, both the interior and exterior are remarkable! Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in mainland Greece. (PS: Stay for more than a day if you're traveling from Athens as most travelers only get to see about 2 monestaries, while we got to see 4 of them. You also get to spare yourself the trouble of being in the bus for almost 10 hours

There are no words to describe this place, Meteora is magical and amazing to say the least. If travelling from Athens, I recommend getting a private car ride up so you can see things in your own time and see the monasteries you most want to see. There are lines to get in to the monasteries and you must make sure you’re wearing clothes that cover your shoulders and are below the knees in order to get in. The views are breathtaking. Definitely recommend doing a day trip from Athens!

What a place and definitely worth a visit! I found all of the Meteora Monasteries we have visited beautiful and would recommend visit as many of them as you can. Really awesome how they managed to built the monasteries on the rocks and so close to the cliffs. Just be prepared to climb some stairs.

Meteora is amazing! The location is amazing and is a lovely place. There are loads of restaurants everywhere. The food is very good and people are very friendly. The monasteries nearby are very nice and it's great to visit. Definitely come here and you can also drive to Metsovo and Ionina.

Such an amazing place. The views are breathtaking. The monasteries date back to the 1300s and are very interesting places to visit. From a historical aspect they are an amazing story of human determination and perseverance. From a religious aspect one can feel in touch with God and closer to the heavens.

Very nice place to visit but it all depends on the time you have on hand. From Athens is a total of 8hrs bus drive and with the time spent there you will easily be gone from Athens for 15- 16 hrs. The tour I joined they visited 3 monasteries with around 40 to 50 min allocates to each, for an inside visit. Some of the monasteries have lost of stairs to climb so if your are not a fit person , just take it slow.
The monasteries , some of them are lived by only a small handful of nuns or monks , which you may or may not see if you are there .
The place and views are beautiful so if you have the time to spare , just go for it!

Amazing place, out of this world. A series of mountain top monasteries. Perfect hike from the village at the foot of the mountains. Also can be done by car. Not all of the monasteries are open every day, and all of them require a 3 euro entrance fee, payable in cash! Worth a detour.
Sander Hoogendoorn — Google review
Speechless! It's definitely worth going to! Don't be alarmed by the stairs, they are in great condition and you can enjoy the view along the way. One important thing is to make sure to bring cash for the ticket (3 euro per non-Greek person). Also, don't stress about the dress code as women are offered a pareo.

This is one place in Greece I definately recommend seeing. A Unesco Heritage site that stimulate all senses when seen in person! It wasn't cheap nor easy getting there, 5 or 6 tolls each way, 4.5 hour drive from Athens, but it was worth the effort. A place few people had heard off, but gaining in popularity for good reason. Imagine monasteries pearch high up on monolithic steep rock formations, its like a city in the clouds. No picture or video can do this place justice. Just Go!
Gordon Ng — Google review
A wonderful visit to the monasteries of Meteora. Read up on them first. Look at all the photos you want: no photo does the place justice.
There are 6 active active monasteries out of 24. Well worth the entry fee (3€ per person). Visit the shops for mementos.
Toilets are available in town and in the monasteries. I would recommend checking out the monastery toilets, it's an experience 😉.
One word of note: there is always one monastery that is closed, so make sure if you want to enter a particular one, if it's closed on your visiting day.
The Belgrade Fortress is a prominent landmark in Kalemegdan Park, overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The fortress has been destroyed more than 40 times throughout the centuries, making it one of the most fascinating places in Belgrade.

This fortress is really nice to visit, it is a 10 min walk from Republic Square. There are several entrances as you walk through the parks to get to it. In one side there is a tiled walk with animal pictures that surround the park you enter in to walk up the Fortress. It is free 😊 you see the local people hang out with their families. There is an attached small church Petr Church. It over looks the river.

One of the most beautiful places in Belgrade, especially during sunset. It's completely free entry. You can take a very long walk and have a nice time alone with yourself or with your family. Also was amazed with military weapons at the entrance of the Belgrade Fortress.

The Belgrade Fortress is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Serbia's capital city. Steeped in history and surrounded by lush greenery, this fortress is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Belgrade. As a history enthusiast, I was in awe of the rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture that the fortress offers.
Upon entering the fortress, you'll be transported back in time. The ancient walls, towers, and gates stand as a testament to the city's resilience throughout the centuries. The blend of various architectural styles, from Byzantine to Ottoman, creates a unique and captivating atmosphere. It's fascinating to wander through the fortress, exploring its nooks and crannies, and imagining the stories that unfolded within these walls.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the panoramic views from the fortress. Perched high on a hill, overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the vistas are simply breathtaking. Whether you visit during the day or at dusk, the sight of Belgrade's cityscape stretching out before you is mesmerizing. Don't forget your camera, as this is a picture-perfect spot!
The fortress also houses several museums and exhibits that delve deeper into Belgrade's history. From the Military Museum to the Museum of the City of Belgrade, there is something to satisfy every curiosity. These well-curated exhibitions offer a glimpse into the city's past, from its medieval origins to the turbulent times of World War II.
Furthermore, the grounds surrounding the fortress are a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Walking along the ramparts and enjoying the well-maintained gardens is a delightful experience. There are also plenty of benches and picnic spots where you can relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance. It's a great place to unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply seeking an awe-inspiring view, the Belgrade Fortress won't disappoint. The combination of its historical significance, architectural beauty, and panoramic vistas make it an unmissable attraction. I highly recommend allocating ample time to explore and truly appreciate this cultural gem.

Located in Stari Grad, the fortress constitutes the specific historical core of the city. One of the most important representatives of their cultural heritage, it was originally protected right after World War II, among the first officially declared cultural monuments in Serbia. It was built in 297 BC, with an area of 66 hectares, or 160 acres.

The things that caught my attention the most in the castle were the arrangement of the military navy vehicles from old to new. The castle was built on a very large land and in a beautiful area. The history of the castle gives a better understanding of Serbia in general. Plus the fortress boasts very well preserved walls and the moat (used nowadays as a part of the military museum, exhibiting weaponry from various times).
Inside it’s mostly a park with some historical landmarks. Especially worth seeing are the Ruzica and Saint Petka Orthodox churches which demonstrate a pretty unique architecture and are considered the most loved holy places in the country.

For hikers, Plitvice Lakes National Park offers a variety of trails that wind through alpine forests and meadows, past sparkling lakes and waterfalls. The park also contains 16 freshwater lakes that are popular for rafting and kayaking. The park was the site of armed confrontation during Croatia's war of independence in the early 1990s, but has since been renovated as a source of economic wealth for the region. Today, visitors can explore hiking trails and enjoy beautiful natural scenery.
One of the most majestic places I have visited in my life, the winter landscape is beautiful, as well as the paths to walk for hours with a different landscape every 3 meters.

This is without a doubt the best place I have ever been. Nature is wonderful, here you can see its pure beauty. The lakes were simply fantastic, the price is worth the visit, but I recommend mixing up the paths. We were there when the park opened, after the tour and going back to the entrance area we were very glad we went at 7 am.. the place was crowded.. a lot of tourists really. I recommend going as early as you can, if you want to visit calmly and are not too fond of crowds.

Absolutely Stunning creation of Nature!! The hike is beautiful and offers wonderful views. The park has 2 entrances and both entrances have 4 routes to choose from. We entered from entrance 2 and did route H which is quite similar to route C from entrance 1, it is almost 9kms and requires 4 - 6 hours. In the peak season, a ticket costs 40 Euro for an adult and it’s better to buy tickets in advance. Ticket price includes the bus and boat ride.
Trail is well maintained and has clear directions as per routes. It was a bit crowded due to summer vacation, so try going as early as possible in the morning.
Wear comfortable shoes, hiking shoes are recommended though. Carry enough water and some snacks, though you can also buy inside the park.
Definitely worth a visit!!

A very very beautiful national park. Worth visiting.
Better to go early in the morning or afternoon to see the water color as aqua blue/green. By evening since the sun starts setting in the west, it won't reflect on water and may miss the beauty of this magical place.
Trek route C or H is best as it covers both lower and upper lakes. There are beautiful waterfalls in the upper lakes. It will take a minimum of 6 hrs to cover this route.

I can imagine it gets crowded in the summer but on a rainy day in April is was empty, calm, misty and incredibly beautiful. The park itself is intelligently set up, with well-maintained paths and platforms that swirl in-between and right up to the waterfalls without clashing with the landscape. In fact, the park seems to be a model of how to organize such a site in ways which make it ecologically responsible, easily accessible for a lot of people, with well thought out branching paths, sufficient rest stops that are discreetly integrated in the setting and plenty of (silent) boats/shuttles.

It is a beautiful natural park. The views are just amazing! It has very colourful landscapes and lakes. It is definitely worth the visit and to spare a lot of time. Unfortunately I did not had the opportunity to camp for a longer time but now have seeing what I have there, I’d definitely think about staying more time in a next opportunity. I went as couple and during summer which is allegedly the best time to see the crystals on the water reflected by the sunlight.

Beautiful. There are several hike options but it can get very busy during the holiday season, even in early September. The trails are quite narrow and you could get held up if one person stops to take pictures.
The cafeterias within the National Park do not offer much choice, especially if you are a vegetarian.
Gopika Avanoor — Google review
I’d like to give this place 5 stars just based off its incredible beauty. But, the park has a bit of a bad design for being able to see it without being overcrowded, which the design and setup of the park causes. There’s basically one narrow boardwalk through the various levels of the lakes, which have no railing. So you really can’t stop anywhere and just take in the view or get pictures that aren’t horribly rushed. They also have a ferry system that appears to be badly overwhelmed with extremely long lines (we didn’t take it because of those lines). Other than that, this park is absolutely gorgeous. Crystal clear blue/green/turquoise waters everywhere. Many waterfalls and overflows and lush green trees. Just absolutely picturesque. But other than that boardwalk, there’s not really much else to see or do, no other trails or anything. There is also timed entry, so either purchase tickets beforehand, or be prepared to wait until the next time available. All in all, if you’re in Croatia, you should definitely go check out this park. Crowds notwithstanding, it’s still a pretty cool place and extremely beautiful.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We went here at winter time and the price for the entry was only 10 euro per person, kinds were free since they were 5 and 6. The beauty of the lake and waterfalls can not be described with words. We are looking forward to see it in all season.

The best, must-visit spot of Croatia. The landscapes this park offers are breathtaking. I recommend trail C, and if you have plenty of time, K seems like a great choice too.
Gyuvin K. — Google review
One of the most beautiful places on the earth!! Definitely recommended to take the maximum possible route. We took route C and 20k steps were worth it. Check the weather forecast before planning the visit. But it surely will be beautiful in all the seasons.

Great experience, absolutely wonderful and outstanding place. Set of lakes and waterfalls is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Must have to visit any season of the year.

Wonderful place for hikes and be in oneness with mother earth. Unbelievably serene and mind-blowing.
Upper lakes are less crowded and quiet while the lower ones are thriving with tourists. Plan your day and start early to enjoy the serenity of the park.
Raghunath N — Google review
I split the trip into two days - one day for the upper and one for the lower lakes. I highly recommend splitting it up. I also did the end of day and early day to avoid the crowds which was perfect. This is truly a magical place with just breathtaking scenery.
H. Rai — Google review
The most beautiful part is the first lake plus the overview of the waterfalls. The rest of the park is nice but for what it is, it's overpriced and overcrowded.
A lot of people are happy with just seeing the waterfalls so they could separate hikers from sightseers to fix some of the overcrowding.
David Oskarsson — Google review
This is one of those place that you must visit in Europe. The colour of lakes is just magical. You can choose 5 trails on different difficulty level and distance. You can go there with kids but I think that it could be dificult with stroller. On trails you can use a boat or buses (on some stages). There are a lot of stops with toilets and even fast food. On the stop next to the boats there is tap with a water that you can pour to bottle. From the cons: huge crowd. The amount of people is crazy there. The price - 40EUR per person - very expensive. Moreover you must pay for parking, too. It is not included in the ticket price to lakes. You must buy ticket in advance, tickets are sold for particular hours.

A must go if you're in Croatia. Pick the longest route, it's not a difficult stroll. There is a boat ride in the middle, but it is very smooth and relaxing. Experiencing the layers of this beautiful green-blue park is definitely and experience you won't forget. The longest route could take up to 6 hours, but if you're not taking your time you can easily complete it in 4 hours.

This place is absolutely breathtaking! You need good shoes if you want to enjoy the longest route (K). I really recommend to start early in the morning because the park is extra full after 11!
You at least need to see this place once because it is ….spectacular!!!!!

The best natural park ever, the water color is absolutely amazing. Very very very nice. we did everything in one day but i wish we had the time to spend two days at least.

Amazing landscape. A few hours drive out of Zagreb and worth the effort. To truly appreciate this national park, you should spend one or 2 nights to complete the longer hikes. Hiking routes are well sign posted. Park entry is €10 per person.
Highly recommended

We bought tickets online and all went perfectly even if it was crowded but still I really like walking and enjoying nature and taking pictures.
Everyone should visit Plitivice at least once in life. It's one of the most beautiful National Parks I have ever seen.
I will visit again.

Loved my visit to this national park with its lakes, waterfalls and woodland hills.
Free parking at this time of the year (early march) for my motorhome. The facilities are great for coffee and food. There is a boat ride or you can walk, I took the boat but walked back. The sun was out so made the scenery extra special. The lakes and various waterfalls are impressive. There are nice pathways and clear signs. Everything was brilliant, highly recommend. I will be back.

A must visit paradise in Croatia and one could easily get lost for half a day to a couple of days depending on the interest. At least half a day in a rush to get a taste of paradise is a must.
There are 2 entrances with a good number of parking places which seemed not crowded during October maybe in season it could be packed. Entrance tickets and parking was way below what I expected for this gem of nature. During the season it is a different price but worth paying. I do not understand why some reviewers complain about the price when it is so much of a treasure.
Overall the park is well maintained with good hiking trails, clean restrooms and good cafes and restaurants.
The park can get crowded but as a sensible tourist one has to plan and not blame the crowds on the park. The boardwalks can be packed with tourists hanging to take pics and not respecting others, just be mindful of this crowd
We parked at the first entrance and did the long trail - K which includes the boat ride and option to take the shuttle back to the parking lot. The trail starts off at the lower lakes with views of the amazing waterfalls before heading through the various trails, boardwalks and then the upper lakes.
If time permits I would recommend adding another trail to enjoy more of the views.
Near entrance 1 there is a really good restaurant for an amazing lunch or dinner. The day we visited it was not crowded and we were able to enjoy a peaceful lunch.
Overall a must visit park for all seasons.
Pradeep Ponnuswamy — Google review
Most beautiful waterfalls I have seen anywhere. Absolutely stunning. We did the full loop over the lower and upper lakes and it was about 12 miles. It took us 5 or so hours total with a stop for lunch.
We did this in March so the crowds were easy to handle. Particularly away from the two different entrances.
Diego Salas — Google review
Magical place. Makes you stop in owe and wonder.
The trick is to visit in low season (we went in April) and arrive early (we took the first boat from entrance 2 @8.30 and were the only people on it!). Then as we walked there was almost no one there and so it felt as if we had the whole park to ourselves.
Marta Walters — Google review
The park is amazing. Well worth the trip even in the off season. We visited in late March and there was hardly anyone here. The park was really beautiful, even though the trees had not leafed out yet. We spent two days in the park and we were glad we had the second day.
Corey Reimer — Google review
Definitively over crowded (also in March) but a must-see when in Croatia! The upper lakes are more beautiful than the lower ones, so pay attention when they are accessible as they are closed in winter. Alltogether something for your bucket list like the Grand Canyon or the Eiffel Tower.
The Kulmer Palace Museum is dedicated to personal objects from former lovers, with accompanying short synopses of their relationships. It is a quirky and interesting museum that is well worth a visit for its unique collection.
I think this museum is quite unique in terms of theme. Each and every item in the museum has a story which will amuse and make you sad both at same time. Some stories are very touching and quite a collection of from everywhere in the world. I believe it's must visit in Zagreb, you can't hear stories of people everywhere.
Sonika Prakash — Google review
Do not hesitate to go to this museum if you like to read, like English and/or if you are into love stories. It’s a museum in which there are objects people have given them accompanied with the story of it. Some of them are truly emotional to read, and you will relate somehow with at least some of the stories (there are some about family, not only couples). Even though they say you take from 45min to 1h, I was so involved with the stories, I just lost track of time and spent 2h there, reading and understanding. There’s a book you can write there, it’s a great moment to let go, and there’s also a bar. Great experience, it was my first stop in Zagreb and I definitely say you shouldn’t skip it if you like reading!
Brunna Cocchi — Google review
What a cool concept. So simple, but so wonderful and very well implemented into a museum.
The ticket is 7€ and you'll spend between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
Stories about relationships that ended, whether they were from lovers, family or friends.
Some are funny, some are witty, some are meh, and some are heartbreaking.
Awesome museum, one of those that you'll remember.

*Baby stroller friendly location*. First I wasn’t sure to go or not. It was pouring rain in Zagreb and at first it was just a place to hide in to skip the rain. But ot turned out to be a must visit musuem. Lots of fun/touching/interesting past relationship stories. Would definitely recommend it. The girls in the reception are very polite and the cafe has good coffee.
Goksemin — Google review
This is a roving exhibit that goes around the world. The idea here is to exhibit items that signify love lost and tell their story. And these stories come from around the world.
Some of the stories are quite quirky while others are down right sad to read.
Wilson Foo — Google review
Emotional and tragic museum with a variety of stories. The exhibition is well made and with a lot of detail, but the place is really small so it can get crowded easily. Also the cafè next to it is cut, nonetheless the worker could be more friendly.
Robin — Google review
Not a typical museum. The personal stories were interesting, funny, touching, sad, weird, and gross at different points. I enjoyed my visit more than I expected. Cool souvenirs, too. I disagree with previous comments claiming that it's small. I read every story and felt like if there were more, it would've been too much
Natalia — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! From being on the verge of tears, laughing and being absolutely shocked. If you wander through the entire museum (which I recommend) it’ll take you about an hour. Cost is 50kn. Each sign is in English and Croatian but a visitor book is provided if you do not speak these languages. Toilets and a cafe inside the museum. Great gift shop, including a book which has more objects not in the museum.
Definitely recommend for anyone in Zagreb.
Tamika Green — Google review
A very surprising museum. First of all, relatively cheap, with prices being €7 for adults and just €5,50 for students. I spent a solid 1+ hour inside and instead of my expectations of the museum just being about toxic or broken romantic relationships, the museum actually sheds light on very interesting other themes in an interesting way. The exhibition consists of personal stories that revolve around anything from romance, parental love, family dilemmas/losses to dramatic losses as a result of war. All in all a very interesting and 'enjoyfull' experience and an assured recommendation for anyone looking for an interesting/alternative museum in Zagreb :)

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia, is a profoundly moving and innovative cultural institution. It showcases a poignant collection of personal objects donated by individuals from across the globe, each accompanied by heartfelt narratives detailing the stories of love and loss. This museum creates a powerful space for reflection on the complexities of human relationships and the universal experiences of heartbreak and healing.

A really unique museum experience. Not much to do apart from stand and read which is difficult when the museum is crowded but I’d still recommend visiting. It’s in a very cute part of the town and the workers are very nice.

Pretty different museum. We loved it!
Went there on a weekday around 7:30pm. It had maybe 10 other people there with us. There are some pretty cool stories and artifacts from all over the world which made the whole experience worth it for us.
I think it's a pretty cool concept that can be replicated all over the world. I like that they do traveling expositions as well.
Diego Salas — Google review
Wow. What a cool concept for a museum! There are moments of heartbreak, laughter and reflection and I’m sure we can all relate to something there. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collections but reading the stories behind them, from all over the world, really made me feel connected. And for only €7, why would you not go?
Amanda Moss — Google review
Some make you angry. Some make you laugh out loud. Some are deeply moving.
A surprisingly heartfelt and genuinely interesting museum that I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone, and will be going again if I am ever in Zagreb. Fantastic!

The exhibition at the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is fascinating. It thoughtfully displays objects symbolising the conclusion of various relationships, whether between an individual, friends, family, or even a person and an object. As you explore the exhibit, you come across diverse items, each accompanied by a story that unveils the depth and meaning behind it. The museum provides a distinct perspective on human connections, capturing the intricacies of relationships, beautifully curated and emotionally resonant, offering a unique insight into the complexity of relationships.
Carlotta Olympia Pompei — Google review
Firstly, the museum's name is incredibly appealing. I was captivated by this exhibit to the extent that I immersed myself in nearly all the narratives. I wholeheartedly endorse this museum.
However, my museum experience was somewhat disrupted by noisy fellow visitors. It would greatly enhance the ambiance if a "Please Maintain Silence" sign were placed, considering that the primary attraction here is the written word.
Karishma — Google review
A very different experience, one of happy and sad all mixed. The stories…some are devastating, some are the harsh truth, some are just lovely memories or memoirs. We all really enjoyed it, teens included.
Heather B — Google review
The museum is cool, all fancy inside with brochures in many languages. The stuff on display has stories in Croatian and English. They sell lots of things too. I thought it'd be funny stories about relationships, but only a few were like that. Most were about war, losing family, and sad tales. It made me really sad reading all that stuff.
Pula Arena, a vast Roman amphitheater in the city of Pula, boasts an underground display dedicated to ancient olive oil and wine production. The town itself showcases a rich historical tapestry, featuring Roman and Venetian architecture that reflects the rule of various leaders throughout its existence. From the Forum to the Roman Catholic Cathedral and remnants from post-World War II, Pula offers a multitude of monuments and architectural wonders that speak volumes about its past.
A stunning amphitheater that’s the best preserved of its kind. Many famous performances have been hosted here in recent times. It’s got super clean toilets and is surrounded by local coffees houses a few minutes walk. From the top seats you can see the sea. Parking is good quality but limited and super busy.

Great venue to view. We didn't buy tickets to go in but simply walked around it and looked inside. It is just mind-blowing the building is already there for more than 2000 years. Although it was a hot day you have quite some shading here and there and always a nice bar around for some refreshments.

The Pula Arena is one of the 6 largest remaining magnificent old roman amphitheatres. Located in the centre of Pula, it's easy to find. Access fee applies yet a walk around the structure will also give a good impression.

Loved my visit to this amazing Roman amphitheatre. It's incredible how it's in such good condition after so many thousands of years. Its amazing how the Romans constructed such a massive and impressive theatre. Highly recommend.

It is very similar structure to the Rome Colosseum. It's big and beautiful place to visit. It's crowded on weekends. There is a chance that the parking place is full especially on weekends. So you will have to park somewhere else in that case. You require a ticket to enter the arena. But honestly, its not at all required. You can see the full insed of the arena from outside for free. You just need to walk up near the backside church and from the fence you get a look of the whole place from inside. So don't buy tickets for inside. You won't see anything special by going in... Its the same view. But the place is very nice to visit with friends and family.
MIHIR SATHE — Google review
Spectacular and well-preserved ancient time monument. However, the entrance was €10 and they don’t provide any information brochures about the place. Genuinely, I wouldn't recommend buying the ticket to go inside. There’s not that much of a difference in the view of the arena that you can see from the outside. The exhibition underground is quite poor too.

I was shocked to tell you the truth how this Pula Arena is so look alike Colosseum in Rome. Beautiful architecture near the sea. I didn’t buy tickets and didn’t enter the Arena itself only went around, believe me it’s great place for like a few million photos. When I was there it was 29 Celsius and clear sky, I wonder how it looks and what atmosphere Pula Arena has when it’s raining or just cloudy weather. For sure Pula is great place to visit for vacation and Pula Arena is just a reminder of how capable was people very long time ago that they built a structure that stands till today. Enjoy you stay in Pula.

It was our first time seeing this historical place. We paid €10 each which we thought was a little over priced. It would have been nice to see more written information. The area is a little run down and there is not a lot of parking.
If your in the area check it out but I wouldn’t suggest driving to far to see it.

Such a beautiful and well maintained Coliseum. If you love history and architecture you must see this. You can walk the grounds with ease, as long as you are ok with some stair.

Beautiful piece of human history, a 2000+ years old Roman arena, surprisingly well preserved.
There's an entrance fee (90 kn at the moment), but you can simply walk around it and see the inside from every angle.
However, if you wish to see it from the inside I'd recommend visiting it during one of various events that are often hosted there (gladiator fights with actors, concerts, etc.), as that's when it most comes alive.
Aleksandar Sarkanjac — Google review
Entrance fee: 10 Euro regular, 5 Euro student. Not very busy at the time of oir visit. You can freely walk around the arena. Don't miss to go down to the underground area where you can have a look at the different vessels and the history behind it. It's also lot cooler underground if you need to escaoe from the heat for few minutes. Not as big as the colosseum in Rome of course but still worth the price if you're visiting the city.
Alex Weber — Google review
Very busy even on a weekday, but cool to see the ruins in the middle of the city. Parking nearby is nearly impossible. Lots of little shops around to check out and within walking distance from the centre.
Gillian Rumsey — Google review
Nice place to check out however, not overly impressed, at least not in relation with the price requested for entry.
Plus: the fact that it’s offering a descent into the underground of the roman amphitheater. You get to see some interesting machinery for producing wine and oil as well as antique amorphas. The underground is quite small however.
Minus: the 10 euro entry ticket is extremely expensive for what the place has to offer compared to other amphitheaters I have seen.
Ana Neagoe — Google review
The entrance fee is currently €10 per person. However, it is absolutely worth it. You can experience how it must have felt being a Gladiator standing in this arena fighting these vicious animals. Just amazing!

Enjoyed sightseeing the Amazing Amphitheatre in Pula which is a rather intact and complete historical arena. It is rather impressive, to be standing out there, amidst such an old and well preserved historical structure. Our tour group got to Pula from Rijeka. Go downstairs to view and read about some exhibits. Additionally, when you are outside in the arena and able, take the stairs on either side, which allows you to reach the top of the spectator stands for a better view, so as to take more panaromic photographs.

The Piazza Unità d'Italia (Piazza Grande) is a large, impressive square in the heart of Venice that is flanked by some of the city's grandest palazzi. The square is a beautiful triumph of Austro-Hungarian town planning and contemporary civil pride and is especially beautiful when lit at night. The buildings around the piazza are all well maintained and look really nice during the day or at night when they are illuminated with blue lights.
Beautiful square. It is often said to be Europe's largest square located next to the sea. The square was built during the period when Trieste was the most important seaport of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and includes the city's municipal buildings and other important palaces. You should visit Caffe San Marco – a magnificent place, well known to both tourists and residents

Lake Bled is a stunningly beautiful scenic lake surrounded by mountains and forest, with an island that houses a historic church. The greatest attraction of the lake is its exquisite blue-green color. Mild thermal springs warm the water to a swimmable 22C (72F) from June through August. There are numerous places to rent boats, paddle boards, and take photos of the lake from all around.
Stunning place with a fair bit to do, close to lots of activities as well. Row a boat out, do some swimming, rent a bike and travel out, eat some food and relax, a lovely place to spend a couple of days.

Truly one of my favorite places in Slovenia. You need to take the boat to go to the island. It's a wooden boat driven by man power. You just sit there and enjoy the view and the moment. The island is delightful. The church (one of 3000 in Slovenia) is beautiful and if you ring the church bell you get your wish. You can also go the the Church Tower that I skipped as I have a fear of height, my friends did and loved the view. The ice-cream shop has a great selection and I loved the raspberry cheesecake brand.
Truly a must visit

As majestic and beautiful as it is down in the pictures! This is our second trip and our timing could not have been better! No tourists, no crowds! We visited on a Sunday in February, streets were empty but boats to the island and all attractions were open. Weather was very nice! We enjoyed a great quiet walk all around the lake of 6km path. We took the Pletna to the island, had coffee there, walked around and enjoyed the magnificent scenery! A beautiful and a must see attraction if you have never been. Even in the winter, it is beautiful!

Gorgeous place. Do note that in order to get to the house on the hill, you either need to hike 15 min, walk up the road or take a buggy. The buggy is expensive, so do bring sturdy shoes if you plan you walk all the way up.

Nice scenery but very overrated compared to other lakes . The gondola ride to the island is super expensive ($18 per person ). Better to rent the boat yourself but be careful to not go close to these gondolas as they are ready to charge your 100 euros if you even touch them . The island is nice but again overpriced for a small church with wishing bell and a small bell tower . The bled fort is also overrated .

Life goal retire here. Reminds me of my grandfather’s cabin in the mountains of New York, USA. Ah it was so beautiful. Water really is a blue green color. It’s not camera filtering trick in photos. And you can see straight through it a good 4ft deep. Absolutely amazing scenery. Must visit the island and get ice cream and take photos.

Beautiful lake with a castle (church) at the middle.
There are few beaches around the lake, and you can even rent a Sap, or small boats and reach the castle's island at the middle.
You should really visit this amazing place.

Looks like something out of a fairy tale and is in a very serene setting. It obviously is is a popular vacation destination by virtue of all the nice lodging going around the lake. There is a trail around the lake, but we chose to take a boat to the island, then hike up to the castle. But it into a very big lake and there were people walking and biking around at a leisurely pace. It is every bit as beautiful as all the pictures you have probably seen.

A very picturesque place. You can either go round the lake by foot or car. You need to be there to submerge in its beauty. However you need to park a distance in one of those public carparks.

Such a beautiful lake, with an amazing little island which needs to be visited... ideally hire a rowing boat and go and ring the bell in the church on the island... and don't forget to make a wish. Its such a magical experience.

Obligatory to see during visit in Slovenia. Great views, especially from castle level. I takes around 1.5 hours (6 km) to walk around the lake and take some pictures.

Photos and videos taken in May 2023. I took a bus from Ljubljana to Bled. The bus ticket was so cheap during the weekend. I bought it from bus ticket office in Ljubljana and paid €2.20 (included 60 cents processing fee). Bus ticket from Bled to Ljubljana was €1.60, bought directly from the driver.
It was raining when I arrived at Bled. Eventhough my pants and shoes were wet from the rain, I was very happy that I visited Bled, beautiful lake with amazing mountains view.
Mirabilandia is Italy's largest amusement park, located in Ravenna. It offers a perfect solution for families with kids and teenagers to have an exciting day out. The park features a variety of thrilling roller coasters, including the popular "Katun," as well as water and family rides. Additionally, visitors can enjoy attractions like laser gun games and live shows.
A wonderful park to experience an exciting day. There are a lot of great roller coasters, my favorite one is "Katun". Back then I drove several times in a row. In the evening or on rainy days there are fewer people. I was there 2 times (2 years in a row) and both times it was a really great experience. If you prefer water, there is a separate water park, but you have to pay for it separately.I just love this park, it's better than Europapark and most of the other parks. There is still so much to tell ... shows, fireworks, just great! I can really only recommend it.❤️😍✌️👍

A Park … full of entertainment. Rides, shows and statues etc. Visited first time. Want to go back sometime again. Just a few suggestions….they need to mark exit directions… please… it took us 15 min to exit. Also mention the show timings on your app so that people know before they visit and don’t miss any show of their choice.

Park is generally nice, it has some great attractions and that Hot Wheels show is a must see. Prices inside are very high, but that's to be expected.
Customer service is absolutely awful though and it ruined my experience. They closed one ride for the day while we were waiting in the line, trapping us inside with no information about what's going on until we gave up after a long while and climbed out across the fence. Next day they left us to wait in the line for the same ride in the sun. We waited for nearly 30 minutes over the opening time for this certain attraction and nobody explained to us why.
I have no problems with waiting, except if it leads to nothing and it was caused by employees not doing their job and not informing the guests about what's going on.

The park is nice. Not so big, but there attractions are good, well balanced and fun. The extreme ones are moderately extreme. There is only 1 or 2 worth of mentioning. The rest is more fun than extreme. The Hot wheels stunt show is great. One definitely needs 2 days to have a good experience in three park and try all off the rides, especially in the summer.

Very magical a d super park. We spent 2 days in family in combination with the mirabeau and it was just super. Staff was very friendly to everyone rides for everyone. Lots of water to refresh. The shows and spectacles were of very high level. Highly recommended a visit to this park!!

This place is very nice! The rides were really fun and the food wasn't that expensive at all. The park has a wide range of attractions as well as games. The only problem there was (at least for me) was that there was no attractions "in the middle". What I mean by that is that the rides were either extreme or very small. There was not much "in the middle " ones to pick from. Though after all, I really enjoyed my day!

The amusement park left us with mixed feelings overall. While the place itself was decent, there were certain aspects that proved disappointing.
One of the main letdowns was the fact that many attractions were not operational during our visit. This diminished our overall impression of the park, as we had expected a full array of entertainment options. It would be great if the park ensured more reliable and consistent operation of its attractions.
Another downside was the brevity of the shows. We were hoping to witness captivating performances, but they were allotted very little time. More duration and attention given to the shows could have created a more immersive and exciting atmosphere.
The park itself appeared decent, but somewhat lacking in liveliness. We felt a shortage of interactive elements and a "magical" atmosphere that could have enhanced the overall experience. More attention to detail and additional interactive elements such as staff interactions or captivating decorations could have made the park more appealing and engaging.
Overall, the amusement park had its ups and downs. While the non-operational attractions and underwhelming aspects were disappointing, we still managed to find some enjoyment during our visit. With improvements and greater attention to detail, this park has the potential to become a truly captivating entertainment destination

Fantastic experience!
I visited 16 years ago as a teenager and this week as a parent with 5yo and it's just amazing. A lot of activities to do, Hot Wheels show is just great.
The only downside is that our youngest could not enter anything as she was just below 90cm and there was no attraction we could enjoy as a whole family, we needed to swap everytime.

Great park. There is a huge parking place that costs €7. The most enjoyable rides are always full of people. The ezperiences are beautiful. There are places to eat, to buy souvenirs, take photos and games to play for prices.
It is ideal to spend with family.
The levels of difficulty in each rise are shown before hand.
It is suitable for little kids as well.
Nice to go on summer because there are many rises with water.

A really fun amusement park to enjoy with the family or friends. There are around 35+ activities to do and without any long queues. We visited in the first week of November.
Cv Gandhi — Google review
We had an awesome day here! The rides are varied from kiddy ones to top tier adrenaline pumping ones and everything in between. We came right at opening time and there was already a large crowd of people there, so plan accordingly!
The wait times for the popular rides weren't that bad, the longest one for us was Katun, where we waited for about 40 minutes, but that was to sit in the first row (different queues). You can also opt for a FlashPass where you can get to the ride a lot quicker!
The adrenaline rides are superb, specially Katun, iSpeed and the Oil Towers (2 of them, one shoots you up at high speed and the other slowly raises you and then drops you like a rock), the other non-extreme rides are awesome too, we especially liked Reset (you're transported into a post apocalypse New York City where you have to laser your way through the infections with a laser gun) and Gold Digger (like a small roller coaster, but so fun!).
The food was good, and honestly not that pricey (we got a menu for 12€ each and that's a main dish, side dish and a drink). The toilets are clean and nice and there's enough of them spread around the park so that you'll never have to wait in line, unless it's a really busy day.
You should also have a change of clothes with you because even in the non water park parts of the park there are water rides that will get you completely wet! Ah yes there's also a water part of the park (ticket sold separately!), but we didn't opt for that ticket, but it looked really fun with a lot of slides!
Ah the most important thing is that you can have a backpack with you, and you can leave the backpack at most big rides (once you get on the ride) and it will be there when you get back.
Super fun, we made about 30k steps in one day, got a nice healthy dose of adrenaline so I wholeheartedly recommend a visit if you're in the neighbourhood (and even if you're not :) )

The Doge's Palace is a labyrinthine Venetian Gothic palace built in the early 14th century by architect Filippo Calendario. The palace is full of lavish Venetian Gothic opulence, as well as citys history and intrigue.
It’s worth visiting it especially with a guided tour as there is so much history gathered in this stunning Palace! Majestic and numerous chambers, magnificent paintings, including the biggest painting in Europe - ‘Paradise’ located in the Chamber of the Great Council, golden ceilings - these are only some of the treasures you will see during your visit! We visited also the prison and saw the Bridge of Sighs.

On the pricey side for what you get but it is Venice so everything comes at a premium. Enough things to see and admire to keep you entertained for a couple of hours or longer.
Good insight into life when the Palace was fully functioning. I enjoyed it but will not be one for all the family, certainly not at the price. If you like art it is recommended.
Some nice views from the top too.

A brilliant place to visit! Personally, I enjoyed this more than St Marks Basilica. Outstanding art and architecture, the whole place is steeped in history. Some of the rooms and the scale of them will take your breath away. A must see when visiting Venice. Tip: we got a skip the line and guided tour. It was well worth it, we spent zero time waiting and the tour brought the place alive.

Beautiful experience of a lifetime. The decorated rooms with awe inspiring paintings on ceilings and walls made it special. It reminded us of Indian palaces or French Versailles beauty. It was crowded but if you get advanced skip line it’s very smooth and no waits. The bridge of sighs is nice touch to the visit which is both sad and provides one of best views of Venice in addition to the armory rooms which also have fabulous views of Venice. We skipped the basilica next door which had nightmare lines and don’t regret coming this way instead.
Enjoy.

A wonderful palace full of rich history!
You can buy your tickets day of, but you will be stuck in a line to be able to get inside.
The palace is wonderful, and the walls have stories of how it all came to be and how the role of the Doge was handled throughout time. You explore the halls and rooms within the building, along with the connected prison chamber and pass through the inside of the sigh bridge.
Overall a good experience, and one item as a must do while in Venice!
Hernan Hernandez — Google review
We went here in mid January on a Monday morning - no lines for tickets, no lines anywhere! The palace was so cool to see and it really gets you thinking about the wealth they had hundreds of years ago to be able to have such ornate rooms and ceilings. We skipped the audio tour as we just wanted to look around. Awesome architecture. The prison was really creepy. It was almost like being outdoors with how cold it was, so even though going up (and down) the sometimes steep or uneven stairs got our heart rate up, we kept our coats on. I enjoyed seeing the historic Bridge of Sighs--from the inside out! They don't allow backpacks so be prepared to check yours. There are tons and tons of stairs as you follow the pathway through the building so you will get lots of steps in.
Reesa Nelson — Google review
The ticket price is outrageously high, and we definitely had a visit experience that was not worth the price. We despite choosing a less crowded period in Venice and purchasing tickets in advance with a specific time slot, the palace was still crowded. This can only mean they are selling too many tickets without considering visitors' experience.
The first and longest part of your visit is a dull exhibition about the palace and the Venetian dukes. If you know nothing about Venice Palace and Dukes, the exhibition might be interesting, but if you have even a bit of knowledge, it will feel boring. The rooms they prepared for this exhibition are specially designed to close off the palace, with walls covered in burgundy plaster and ceilings covered with nets, giving no sense of being inside a palace. We thought the whole visit would be like this, and we felt disappointed.
In the second part, you get to see the grand palace rooms and halls. The rooms are truly beautiful with their magnificent ceilings and walls adorned with paintings.
The third part involves visiting the prison by crossing the Bridge of Sighs. It's an empty and boring walk. You only see prison cells.
In short, you pay an exorbitant fee to see a few rooms and halls of the palace amidst a crowded mass of people. I definitely don't think it's worth it.
Murat Yıkılmaz — Google review
Amazing place. Extremely well preserved paintings (though some were replaced by copies, the originals taken to the Louvre...), impressive interiors, some interesting collections of Venetian armour, and temporary exhibitions. Also, the prison part of the Palace is well worth a visit in itself, with its Bridge of Sighs, of course. The visit would take at least two hours.
Anastasia An — Google review
The amazing wealth of the Venetian city state is on full display in this museum. Much of it must be seen in person to appreciate the scale and mastery. This is a must see experience if you travel to Venice. There is so much history behind every piece of art work and artifact. You can spend many hours going through them. There are also guided tours offered by local guides, who can give you in depth history lessons.
James Zhang — Google review
Amazing scale and sumptuous style make the Palace a must visit, if you are in Venice. Only marked down from 5 stars as, however awe inspiring, the religiously oriented paintings and decorations left me with a feeling of a heavy grimness rather than light and glory.
Queued for approx 40 mins to get in, though that was my fault for not trying to book until too close to the day.
Richard Porter — Google review
Get the ticket to tour the palace from the inside. Definitely book ahead online otherwise you will find yourself in a line stretching for hours, regardless of the season. Fascinating history and unique style of Venetian architecture that is quite different from other parts of Italy. Some awesome giant rooms that housed the Venetian governing apparatus, and you can see how the layouts relate to the well-known facade outside.

Beautiful palace. I'd spring for 4 museums in a visit. Each floor is very different from the next. Completely worth it. My photos don't do it justice. Visited in late November so got right in. The normal queue lines were beside us and you can see where it's normally out the door when people go in season so beware 😲

A must see. Absolutely stunning opulent palace. Very golden. Tickets are 25€ if booked 30 days prior. 30€ if book within 30 days. Opening time vary with season. For winter 2024 is 9:00- 18:00. It is wheel chair accessible. Opened every day. This is definitely a very popular attraction so must be crowded on peak season.

Exquisite ceiling work 🥰!! they’ve preserved the state of the prisons which is incredible…The finesse of the paintings are just🥰 we were lucky to visit during the night hours as it was open till 10pm on this particular day and I feel the lighting added a different charm to the art work..
I however feel that the place can be better maintained for the price they charge for entry.
Having said that, it’s definitely a must visit when visiting Venice !!

The Palace is a stunning piece of art located right next to the Basilica. When you start the tour you see the amount of effort that they put into making this palace. Words can’t really describe how it looks inside and nor can pictures do justice. Each room is grand!!! When you go on the tour read the signs that they posted. It gives you a thorough explanation of the palace. By the end of it, you realize this place was used for making decisions for the community and bringing law and order to the people. I really felt that the Venetians try to create a Fair method of justice. Funny because their checks and balances system was brought to the United States. That’s what our tour guide said. Overall, it’s amazing and leaves you speechless.

Would come again any time, great place with lots of great art. We used a tour guide that didn’t offer much time. One hour was barely enough. The museum doesn’t have air conditioning which in summer makes it unbearable to visit it in some places. They have a cafe and toilets with a long queue in front of them.

Really enjoyed this visit
I would recommend booking a timed ticket on line or queuing up early for a ticket and going back later in the day.
I wouldn’t bother with audio guide. It’s €5 each (cash) but you need to leave your passport or drivers license so that you don’t run off with the device. The audio guide does not cover everything. There are plenty of written explanations in many languages.
The cafe is really good.
I would recommend the long tour around the prison.

Wonderful tour. The entrance fee is not cheap, but it's well worth it - you get a great insight into Venice history, see stunning art and architecture, walk through the chilling prison, and literally get to walk across the iconic Bridge of Sighs. We were here in October and happily avoided the crowds - if coming in peak times you might want to pay extra to minimise long wait times.

Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!

A really interesting building and great to walk around. If you like painted ceilings, you’re in for a treat! We waited outside in the general queue for probably around 20 minutes, so I’d recommend buying a ticket in advance because we didn’t go at a hugely busy time of day (around 4pm).

The paintings and ceilings are breathtaking, they are ginormous. We went with a tour group and it was not too crowded. There are not many places to sit down inside and there are many stairs.
Samantha Baldyga — Google review
I recommend booking a tour as the queue for ticket entrance is insane. With a group tour, the waiting time is minimal. Also, with the rich history, it is impossible, at least for me, to make sense and appreciate the grandeur. I am amazed how the Venetian, as a relatively small power in terms of numbers is able to do so much.
If you want to be on the Bridge of Sighs, then need to go in through the Doge’s Palace.

We went on a Thursday evening around 5 pm and it was mostly empty and we were able to visit without waiting. That said, the palace is huge and if you want to spend time observing the art, you may want to go earlier.

Excellent museum. Fine attention to history as each display in 4 languages. Extensive history at each display and very well done. The building is incredible inside and well worth the fee to visit. The armory halls especially piqued my interest. Excellent display. Would definitely visit again. I did a self guided tour but the audio tour would’ve probably been helpful. Excellent indeed.

Must visit to appreciate the symbol of the wealth and splendor of this once great maritime republic. You can actually walk through the famous Bridge of Sighs and visit the new prison across the canal after you see the beautiful gilded halls and stairways of the palace. I would recommend visiting it in wintertime when you can actually take nice pix without huge crowds.
The Basilica di San Marco is a spectacular cathedral located in the heart of Venice which is noted for its intricate mosaics and gilded interiors. It does not charge visitors for entry, but does have fees associated with accessing some of its attractions such as the St Mark's Museum, the Treasury and Pala d'Oro. This iconic building is a must-see on any visit to Venice.
Wow, what a place to visit. Highly recommended. The church/cathedral/basilica is absolutely beautiful. It‘s adorned with riches of gold, precious stones, mosaics, art work and sculptures that will astound you. It has to be on your list of things to see whilst in Venice. A tip is to get a skip the line guided tour, we did and we had no waiting at all and a superb guide that brought what we were seeing alive.
Chris A — Google review
The place itself is gorgeous, but under renovation. To get in, its 3€ and most of the church is blocked off, including the seats and all of the side rooms. The entrance fee just lets you walk around the main room. If you want to go up to the tower its another 5€ and the museum is also an additional cost. I walked through it fairly quick as there was not much to see, and there was a big crowd the whole way

Beautiful church. Highly recommend to buy tickets ahead of time to skip the line. The line wrapped around the church before it opened. We went on a Tuesday in March, the off-season, around 945am and it was packed. Definitely wanna get tickets to the horse loggia and museum if you want access to the top balcony.

Stunning Basilica. We had to wait in line, but it moved quickly. Price was 3 euro per person to enter, but worth it. So beautiful inside. It was under construction outside and only limited areas you could go inside. We did not buy the museum pass to go upstairs and outside. The have restrictions on clothing to enter (womens shoulders must be covered as an example)

Arguably the most favourite building in Venice, it is always packed. So I joined a night tour and was glad that I did because it gave access to some off limited areas. It was also great that only 2 other groups were there at the same time. So I could really pay attention and learn about the history about the basilica. What a beautiful place. I still can't believe I was walking in it. (July 2022)

To preface, I visited in 2016 and it was with a tour group- so, I got to see most of the basilica and did not have to deal with any queues or weird pricing. As far as the basilica itself: stunning!! So much impressive craftsmanship in the building, and the artwork is awe inspiring. I did not go to the top towers, but even through some of the windows there were very impressive views. Of course it was crowded, like most similar areas, but I remember having a great experience because it was not enough to pull me out of the beauty. We even got to see some lower levels and a cell somewhere in the basement I believe. If I were to visit Venice again with my wife I would surely take her here!

A very beautiful basilica indeed! I’ve enjoyed the appearance of the exterior and interior the most. I would highly recommend buying tickets online to skip the line. I wouldn’t miss the roof, as it gave a beautiful view of the Piazza San Marco.
Jamila Saleh — Google review
Looks beautiful inside however there is an extra 5 euro charge to walk through the back of the church area getting a better view of some of the art. Also there is a 7 euro charge to go to the museum. It would have been nice to include everything as a bundle fee as opposed to paying when you get there.
Still a very impressive basilica and probably a must see in Venice so just keep in mind the extra costs if you plan on seeing everything here.
I also recommend picking up tickets earlier which will help save you some time when entering
Adrian Chang — Google review
You have 3 attractions in one here. There is the Basilica itself. Then you have to pay extra to see the golden alter screen it is also extra to go up to the Balcony outside and then extra again to visit the Museum. Also it cost extra to get an Audio guide. It is a gorgeous place to see. The mosaics are out of this world. They tell so many stories and the audio guide tells the history of them all. Truly breathtaking. Got the skip the line tickets and they were well worth it as queues can be quite long.

Gorgeous church but we were not allowed to go inside the main part of the church because church was in session when we were on our tour. We could go inside the first door and walk around upstairs and outside on the top level for a nice view of the square.

I recommend buying the Basilica AND the museum/horses ticket as the ticket for the Basilica only does not allow you to go upstairs. We paid 6€ each for the 'skip-the-line' tickets including the entrance of the Basilica (3€ each). Adding the 3€ to skip the line was worth it. We then paid 7€ each to enter the museum and horses tour and we also thought it was worth it. The museum allows you to get closer to the ceilings mosaics and this alone is worth the add-on. The views of San Marco square from outside the basilica (balcony) is a nice bonus.

This is the largest square in Venice.
It’s a very crowded tourist attraction but still I loved being here. The popular St. Mark’s Basilica and the very iconic bell tower stand in this place. The other dominant building here is the Doge’s Palace.
All the buildings are very pretty. You need to stand in the middle of this square to really get the feel of the wonderful architecture around you. It’s a very lively and happy place (at least that’s the way I felt being here). Full of activity, iconic buildings and cheerful tourists.
It’s a great place to spend a few hours. There are quite a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops here which are nice but expensive (as is the case near any main tourist attraction).

This is my top 1 tourist place to go in Venice .Beautiful architecture it’s is absolutely flawless. I went on a tour and I loved the history of the Basilica. I recommend to buy tickets in advance to get in front of the line instead of waiting in the long line like I did. Very beautiful inside too. Tickets are 3€ and kids under 6 are free. Thank you for reading

Gorgeous church with a beautiful interior. Lines get long quick but move relatively quickly. Fee to enter the basilica, fee to see the gold alter piece in the apse, fee to see the upstairs/museum/rooftop so come prepared to shell out $$$. But I think they are all worth it especially the upper level/museum/rooftop. Free Rick Steves audio tour really opened the place up.
Bryan Jacobs — Google review
One of the main places to visit when in Venice. I would highly recommend showing up early in the morning during peak season (summer time), to make sure you don’t need to wait in a long queue. I arrived 45 mins before the doors opened, and was the first in line. Tickets are very inexpensive, which are mainly a donation to the Basilica, and the view from the second floor outdoor area gives an amazing view of the entire Square!
vartan bilawejian — Google review
I think the facade looks the best close to sunset. That's when the evening sun shines onto it, illuminating the mosaics on the facade.
As for visiting it, I'd recommend buying the tickets in advance. We arrived 30min before opening and ended up waiting for 45min to enter.
Definitely visit the Museum as well. You get to visit the terrace and see the original bronze horses.

3 euro entry and extra 5 to visit the alter and 7 extra to visit the museum itself. Prices are reasonable. Great views, architecture and priceless art work. It was a great experience to walk round and explore the basilica. Would recommend paying for the museum as this allows you upstairs and out onto the balcony for view at marks square and the condition of some of the art work is amazing. Cheap activity and worth a visit. You can book fast track tickets. We went around 11am and there was a long queue but we were in within 30min
Lee Rock — Google review
Well what can i say, it’s worth the hype, it’s worth the queues, it’s just gorgeous and magnificent. I will go out on a limb and say that this is the most magnificent Basilica as per me in Europe (and the list includes Saint Peter’s in Vatican). The church is covered in mosaic and it seems impossible to even imagine how they created the art. The museum along with the galleries give some of the best views in Venice and thus worth going in. If you take Rick Steve’s audioguides then you can easily spend a few hours admiring the glory of this Basilica.

St. Mark's Basilica is an architectural marvel that left me speechless. Its intricate mosaics, majestic domes, and rich history create an awe-inspiring experience. Stepping inside feels like I am going back in time and experiencing a conclave of beauty and spirituality. This is a must-visit in Venice that truly captures the essence of Italian craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Beautiful building and rich in history. We did an organised tour and jumped the massive queue. Prepare to wait a long time if you don’t. The original four horses from Constantinople are the highlight for me.

St. Mark's Basilica Venice, the multi-domed church on St. Mark's Square, is one of Venice's main attractions and one of the most spectacular cathedrals in Italy.
At St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, you'll get a glimpse of a true embodiment of Venetian aesthetics.
St. Mark's Basilica Venice is an iconic symbol of Venice.
Originally intended as a private chapel for the Doge, the church has played an important role in the religious and political life of the city over the centuries.
The basilica was built to preserve the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist, which had been stolen in Alexandria, Egypt. St. Mark's Basilica of Venice, also called the "Golden Church", is famous for the dominance of golden mosaics, which are a unique sight in the world of art.
Discover the priceless treasures kept in the basilica for the refinement of the mosaics .

The square makes an amazing impression in real life. It is very nicely lit, and the square itself has a very large open space, as in Venice, the streets are narrow. The basilica itself has a lot of decorations and drawings that delight. The whole thing is perfectly preserved and is truly a work of art. I highly recommend seeing it with your own eyes.

TICKETS! The biggest challenge with this monument is understanding where and how to purchase tickets. There is limited signage and information online to advise YOU CAN PAY AT THE DOOR and do NOT NEED skip the queue tickets. It’s €3per person to get in on the ground level to view the inside with an addition €7 per person via cash or card to walk upstairs and walk through both the museum and the outdoor viewing area over the square. I highly recommend this! On the hour the clock changes and the bell rings…an amazing sight to see…try to time your visit to over the hour change to experience this.

This basilica is decorated by mosaic. The glittery yellow ones are 24k gold! The extravagance in building this is unbelievable. The hall is the lowest point in Venice and it is first to get flooded when waters come in.
St Mark’s body is also kept in this basilica.

You can go the fun way visiting this wonderful church by getting a tour and skipping the line or you can wait and wonder the story behind it. I would highly recommend getting a guide. definitely make sure you get to the terrace ( extra 14 euros) for the wonderful view of the clock tower and the square.

This is a especially beautiful Basilica. There is a little bit of a wait to get in, but it’s worth it to see the beauty inside. The architecture is beautiful and ornate. This is a must see if you were in Venice.

We bought our tickets through Get Your Guide. Gia was amazing. She gave us incredible history and pointing out spectacular facts about the basilica. I highly recommend the 7€ hours/terrace add on. The views of the square are with it.
St. Mark's Square is a popular tourist destination in Venice, Italy due to its rich history and Venetian Renaissance architecture. The square is filled with cafes and shops, and it is often the site of large events such as concerts and festivals. St. Marks Basilica, one of the most iconic churches in Europe, is located at the center of the square.
Visited this place almost three years back while on the Europe trip. And was very excited to visit this place as I saw it many times in movies or documentaries. Reached the place through a ferry. The water colour was sea green and took almost 40 min to reach there. The first word when we reached there was wow. The place is absolutely awesome. It feels like a different world when we see surrounding. It was very crowded but still many things to see. We will get crowd every where but still place is very mesmerizing. At some place u can have fouling smell too. The flee market is also fascinating. The painting available for sale were really amazing. The restaurants were also on the edges where we can enjoy scenes and food.
Amazing place to visit.

Visited back in 2013. Super beautiful and just amazing!! It’s definitely a must visit if you plan on visiting Venice.
The square has so many beautiful shots to be taken from every angle.
From the square with the two pillars
From the church’s roof
Of the clock tower
And a stunning view of the water and St George’s church with some Gondolas in view.
It’s one of the most beautiful city centres in Europe. I completely recommend it.

The main square to visit in Venice. You can find St. Marks Basilica, Bell Tower and Clock Tower, and more.
Restaurants and retail shops all around the square, and a bunch of museums / galleries to visit. This place is usually full of tourists, so if you want to take some nice private photos / enjoy the quiet, I would recommend being at the square at 7-8am.
If the weather permits, a lot of the restaurants at the square will play live music in the patio area for everyone to enjoy.
I would say watch out for the tourists traps, you can find them all around the square.
vartan bilawejian — Google review
It's a magical place suffering from overcrowding so whatever part/place you want to visit, plan it properly way ahead or you'll end up in never-ending lines of similarly desperate tourists. Considering the basilica, the entrance fee is really cheap (3 euros) compared to the 30 for the Doge Palace. Inside the church I'd recommend to pay extra 7 euros (so 10 in total) to get in the museum of the San Marco Basilica on the first floor to get two amazing views: the mosaics in a very close detail and also access to the above entrance balcony for the best pics of the whole square. Sure, from the campanile you'll see further as way higher, but not so much of a detail of the buildings around...

Famous landmark in Venice. It is both lovely in daytime as well as during evening. At daytime, depending on the viewing angle and sunlight, it exposes the beauty, craftsmanship of the landmark. However, nighttime is a totally different experience with more relax, and vibrant. Live bands from different restaurants entertain guests. It is such an experience for visitors.

Just amazing!!! Must visit!! Is magic everywhere in the atmosphere, and pure art in any corner. We came for the carnal end of February, so there was a lot of interesting customs and artist acting around the square, just a little bit cold so bring something warm to enjoy without problem. Will come back any time I can.

Words won’t fully describe how amazing it is and if you are visiting Venice from elsewhere, you made it, enjoy the views and everything Venice has to offer. St Marks square should be on your bucket list if you are visiting here. You can also get to the top of the tower.

The most famous square of Venice which is surrounded by the most important attractions of the city. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants around it that are worth mentioning. Better to leave them early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The projects that take place in the square lose something of its glamour.
We arrived around 10am and it was 36 degrees Celsius and the atmosphere stifling.

Unfortunately the weather was a bit rainy so not at it's best. There's works going on to raise the square level higher to help re water levels rising. But the charm of Venice was still there and we had a lovely gondola ride

If a bell tower visit is chosen, a short wait for a €10 elevator trip to the bells at the top is required ,although for extra a queue jumping ticked can be bought. Waited about 10 minutes if that, for a spectacular 360 view over the whole of Venice. Fabulous.

The Grand Canal in Venice is a massive canal that runs through the heart of the city. It has been an important waterway in the city for hundreds of years and has served as a beautiful backdrop to many iconic scenes in Italian culture.
Seeing it in films, on television or magazine simply does not do Venice justice...One must see it with there own eyes...Superb! Took the train from Verona early and spent the day taking in this visual feast! Fell in love with it all! Resident Cowboy of Portugal since 2016

Whether you are having dinner at one of the restaurants, sitting in a gondola or even just walking. I had an amazing feeling just being there. Best views from the Rialto bridge or (even better) from the rooftop of the Fondaco Dei Tedeschi shopping center.

During my visit to Italy in 2006, I had the privilege of exploring the magnificent Grand Canal in Venice. This iconic waterway, often referred to as the "main street" of Venice, left an indelible mark on my journey through Italy. From its enchanting beauty to its rich history, the Grand Canal offered an unforgettable experience that truly captured the essence of this remarkable city.
As I glided along the Grand Canal in a traditional Venetian gondola, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking views that unfolded before me. The graceful palazzos, adorned with intricate architecture and vibrant colors, lined the banks of the canal, exuding a sense of timeless elegance. The iconic Rialto Bridge, with its majestic arches, stood as a symbol of Venice's grandeur.
The Grand Canal was a bustling waterway, teeming with activity. Traditional gondolas, vaporettos, and private boats gracefully navigated its waters, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The sights and sounds of Venetian life unfolded around me, as locals and visitors went about their daily routines. It was a captivating blend of history, culture, and everyday life.
The palazzos that adorned the banks of the Grand Canal held a fascinating history within their walls. Each palazzo seemed to whisper tales of Venetian nobility and merchant fortunes, transporting me to a bygone era of opulence and grandeur. The architectural marvels, such as Ca' d'Oro and Palazzo Grassi, showcased the magnificence of Venetian craftsmanship and artistic heritage.
The Grand Canal also offered a glimpse into Venice's cultural heritage through its iconic landmarks. The imposing Santa Maria della Salute basilica, with its striking domes, stood as a testament to the city's devotion and resilience. The canal's waterfront promenades, known as fondamenta, were lined with charming cafes, bustling markets, and artisan shops, allowing me to immerse myself in the vibrant spirit of Venice.
The Grand Canal is the heart and soul of Venice, and a visit to this iconic waterway is an absolute must for anyone traveling to the city. Its timeless beauty, rich history, and bustling atmosphere create a truly unforgettable experience.
My journey along the Grand Canal was a magical voyage through Venice's storied past and vibrant present. It allowed me to witness the city's unique charm and marvel at its architectural treasures. The Grand Canal deserves the highest praise for its ability to transport visitors to a world of unparalleled beauty and enchantment.
My visit to the Grand Canal was a dream come true, and it left me with memories that will last a lifetime. It is a place where history, art, and everyday life intertwine, creating a tapestry of Venetian culture and beauty. The Grand Canal stands as a testament to Venice's enduring allure and its status as one of the world's most captivating destinations.

It is indescribable when you approach Venice by boat and see all these beautiful buildings reflected in the water. It is also pleasant to ride along the Grand Canal with the Vaporetto and enjoy the beautiful palaces along the canal. The Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy is a large Catholic church that is home to noted artworks and relics of Saint Anthony. The church is notable for its union of different architectural styles, from Romanesque to Gothic, with 8 domes and 2 bell towers. One of the largest temples I have seen before. Gorgeous finishes inside, statues, frescoes, stained glass windows. The tomb of St. Anthony inside is a place of worship for locals and thousands of tourists. It's just a MUSEUM! Entrance is controlled, you can not enter in shorts or sleeveless.

Espectacular experience and worth seeing. But, be prepared, the explanation video is in Italian with English subtitles, so if you don't know either it's practically useless... Calculate that once inside you have almost 15min, then you must leave. It's small so they organise and control the number of visitors.
The museum was nice, but the majority of it, 80%, was just explained in Italian. So if you don't know your art and there's no one to explain it could become boring.
You MUST be super punctual, and calculate at least arriving 15min earlier. You must put your things in a locker and the entrance is a bit far from the chapel.
As for getting the tickets, I advise using a computer to do it. It's complicated and time consuming. TIP, the name doesn't matter. One person can purchase all the tickets under the same name.

Wonderful and original chapel. The most recognized place is Padova. The trip lasts 30 min and it starts with a 10-15 min-long video explaining the history of the chapel and what is represents. There is enough time to admire the interior. Definitely worth seeing! If you prefer to be sure about the time of the trip, it's better to pre-book it with vivaticket.com. The ticket also includes entrance to Musei Civici agli Eremitani (just next to the chapel) and Palazzo Zuckerman (nearby).

I friend from Padova advised us this was a must place to visit. The frescos where beautiful. Make reservations in advance.

This is the highlight of our trip to Italy. An incredible place and it truly gives you a sense of wonder and awe. They do hassle you in and out though and 15 minutes seems like such a small amount of time.

The major masterpiece of Giotto. Integral vision of the historical sequence of events. Realistic style, revolutionary for his times. Emotions on the faces are done really truly. It is not by coincidence he is compared to Dante. They both born with a difference of a couple of years made revolutions in Italian art: Giotto in painting and Dante in literature.

We arrived quite early and showed the staff at the museum our tickets but the lady just told us her shift ends soon and her colleague will come soon which didn’t happen. They also started the video introduction before every visitor sits down so we missed the beginning.

With Giotto being the first ever to introduce such a beautiful sky colour and to embody the first ever kiss in the history of arts, one cannot but marvel his stunning frescoes dating back to the 14th century - it's a must-see when in Padua! 😊

Stunning frescoes. Shame you can only stay fifteen minutes, but understandable. Good intro video before you go in. Definitely book in advance.

This is beyond doubt one of the most beautiful and important pieces of western art. Absolutely stunning and so well preserved! This rivals, and in my opinion, surpasses the Sistine Chapel- a must see for art enthusiasts

In of the most beautifully decorated churches I’ve ever visited. It had the famous “Kiss of Death” painting inside of it; it is quite the experience, you have to wait inside a temperature controlled room before visiting. You can only stay so long inside the church before you have to leave due to the temperature change. It was a very interesting experience and it was absolutely stunning inside. It was definitely worth the visit and I would highly suggest you visit if your in the Padua area.

Impressive place.
Totally recommended!!
We didn't have tickets because we weren't sure we would have time to go to Padua on this trip to Italy and we bought the tickets on the place without any problem. We only had to wait an hour to enter the chapel but we saw the Museum.

A journey to Padua would be incomplete without immersing yourself in the artistic marvel that is the Scrovegni Chapel. Housing frescoes by the masterful Giotto, whose works have gracefully stood the test of time for over seven centuries, this chapel is a testament to the enduring power of Renaissance art. Giotto, revered as the progenitor of the Renaissance, skillfully departed from the prevailing Byzantine style, offering a visual narrative that exemplifies the essence of Renaissance Humanism. The well-preserved frescoes serve as a captivating window into Giotto's transformative contribution to art history, making a visit to the Scrovegni Chapel a truly enriching experience.

An emotional place. The chapel is beautiful, with dozens of paintings filling the walls. The story of Jesus is displayed poetically, and you can feel the emotion on display. There's a short video that staff make you watch for context before entering. Price is high but worth it.

Must-see in Padova - chapel with famous Giotto paintings. We didn't book/buy tickets in advance (in June), but woman at the ticket office was very helpful and found tickets for us, we could enter in 45minutes. Must be on time in front of chapel, otherwise you could not enter. Visit consists of 15min video presentation and 15 min visit of chapel.
Even our teenagers were impressed.
Pragser Wildsee is a beautiful UNESCO world heritage site, with towering mountains and a deep blue color. It's also become quite a popular Instagram spot in the past few years. The most beautiful thing about this lake is that you can find many climbing opportunities nearby, making it an ideal destination for adventurers.
We visited in extra season, not crowded but a lot of hiking tracks closed. Lovely to walk by the lake

One of the most beautiful places I have ever bene! For sure It Is worth the visit. Important to Remember to book the parking before going, mainly in the weekends. The walking around the lake is easy also to go worth family, but with several stairs in the way.

Beautiful lake with stunning views and green water. Parking is a little costly. Not much to eat at the restaurant after 3 pm. Going around the lake takes roughly 2 hours. Worth visiting once.

Perfectly beautiful lake, but the conditions for renting the boat is ridiculous. Why I need to pay also for magnet and postcard, when they have a proper souvenir shop with better selection just behind the corner..

Absolutely breathtaking. Would love to stay at the hotel next time I come. I recommend this place to anyone seeking holiday in the Dolomites.

No words to express the beauty of this lake. It’s a jewel of Dolomites. Unlike other lakes in the Dolomites, this lake is easily accessible. Therefore, it can get very busy during the summer months. The hike around the lake is a must thing to do. The trail around the lake is easy and well maintained.
There is a very big car park but it’s expensive. There are a few places well before the lake where you can park but it’s a long walk to the lake.
If you are into landscape photography then sunrise would be a better option as there will be fewer people in the early morning.
Boat trips and photography on the boat deck are expensive too.
A highly recommended place!

Amazing place! Even in winter still worth a visit. The bistro on the lake is a treat. A quick tip, go to the toilet beforehand, otherwise be ready to pay for it. :P

This is a wonderful place. Good parking. Unfortunately, still too many idiots that leave their litter. As dog owner, I don‘t understand those who bag up and then disregard the bag😡. Still the path around the lake is beautiful. Water level was a little low.

Very stunning lake. I would highly recommend bringing crampons if you are wanting to walk around the lake as it is super icey and slippery at this time of the year (November). The car park is €35 for the entire day. No reception at the lake. There is also restaurant.

The moment I arrived in this place, I instantly fell in love because of the beauty that it holds. The scenery is just breathtaking and truly spectacular. Going to this place during the winter is truly magical and it looks like it straight up came from the movie Narnia. Me and my friends took some time taking pictures on this place and also had some fun playing with the snow. Make sure to wear comfortable trekking shoes that are water-resistant to fully enjoy this area! I also remember a wedding photoshoot was ongoing in the area and I am sure that the photos will really be amazing. Please visit this as soon as possible, a must!

This beautiful lake is overwhelmed by tourists during the day. However, there is plenty of space for everyone. Come early in the morning to avoid the crowd.

Beautiful place to go for a walk round a lake. Buy entry tickets online before you go, or go to the info area where there is a QR code you can scan and buy ticket.

Amazing hike along the lake with beautiful viewing points and places to chill by the lake. The shore is rocky and so is the bottom of the lake which makes it have this wonderful green color. Do bring something to sit on as the rocks don’t make it comfortable. The hike takes around 2,5 hours and it can be done with regular shoes too. Quite popular so it will not be a quiet walk.

Gorgeous lake with mountain and a turquoise blue water. We took a walk around the lake and it took us around 1.5 hours stopping to take photos. We also had the pleasure to stay at the hotel on the lake and parking was redeemed with the stay. You can also rent a boat to take a ride on the lake for 30 minutes.

Beautiful lake, very popular! Already early in the morning is full of photographers. Very easy to arrive! There is a hotel, souvernie shop and like a bar cafeteria right before the lake!
The views are just amazing, you can hike around, which I recommend doing :)
The boat station opens from 10 am, although I saw a couple who got married, they could I imagine rent the place earlier for a photo session!
The place is worth no matter what!

Stunning turquoise lake that is sheltered by multiple Dolomite mountains. There is an hour walk around the lake, which is beautiful. The landscape of the peaks is stunning, including various rock formations, moss and treeline. Worth doing and parking was cheap after 4pm

Nature has already set the best camera filter for you. Just go and enjoy you time there. If possible take a boat ride, don’t worry much about rowing, you can learn from the crash course given there. Just sit in the middle of the lake and ENJOY tour time! This place is surreal!

The lake is absolutely gorgeous! Would recommend visiting before 9am to avoid the crowds and catch a beautiful sunrise. Check for timings depending on whether you're taking public / private transport.

Stunning view of a beautiful lake and surrounding mountains. Take a nice walk around the lake trail to see it from all sides, well worth it.

This place is stunning. I recommend you to come late in the evening, it’s not that crowded. There are 2 parking lots, one of which is more closer to the lake. The bus stop is also very close. If you have time please do the hike around the lake, it will offer some breathtaking views.
