Great, relaxed dinner with bubble tea to help chill in the Crete heatwave. Friendly staff, great service - they even have us a box to take the food away we couldn't eat. Value for money with a smile!

Food was alright, service was slow and none of the tables were really fit for eating at. More a place to get drinks.

Lovely bar for cocktails 🍸
The guy at the front, getting customers through the door, is lovely!

Such a lovely place. Amazing food, drinks and location. I definitely recommend 👌
Star Beach Village & Water Park is a casual resort situated by the waterfront, offering various dining options and amenities such as an outdoor pool, spa, and water park. Families with children can enjoy numerous pools, toboggans, pirate ship and food catering to all tastes. The resort boasts well-maintained and secure surroundings with stunning views of the sea in shades of blue. Friendly staff provides comfortable rooms for a pleasant stay while guests indulge in delicious meals from any of the three restaurants available on site.
Lovely hotel. The staff are so friendly and really make you feel very welcome. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The cleaning of the rooms is 10 out of 10. You are in 5 minutes walk of the town and right on the beach. Its a big complex but nicely set out with lots of different spaces. Great pools and parks for kids and more quiet pools for bigger kids. Plus nice little beach coves dotted along the shore. All with loungers and brollies. The food here is very good. There are so many choices it's almost overwhelming. It's very fresh, very tasty, very nice. I would highly recommend the Asian restaurant too. The food here is sublime and part of the all inclusive. All in all, its fabulous.
Christine Quinn — Google review
I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that the all inclusive list of cocktails is not great and that the facilities don't have lift, which can make it complicated if you have a kid (with pushchair and everything). Also the adults side of the waterpark was not in the best conditions (even if good overall)
Everything else is amazing!
The spaces for kids are incredibly good, our son loved it.
The staff is very friendly and everything is very clean.
Food is also great and there are plenty of options.
We would surely come back!

Star Beach started on a very bad note – we were made to wait around half an hour just to get into our room with them insisting on using a bellhop that never arrived. The room turned out to be only 5 minutes walking distance, so this was particularly frustrating. Once past that, however, the resort’s service improved. We had a great day at the water park, with prompt and helpful staff throughout. The room was fairly standard, but good enough considering you will spend most of your time out at the water park and beach. The all-inclusive food and drink was nothing amazing but great value.

This is not a family place. Very disappointing. Right next to the slides there is an over 18 VIP area that is very loud. People are drunk and smoking and acting inappropriate. All of this in front of young children. We moved to the pool area and couldn't even get in because it was packed. The food was terrible. All this for over 500 euros. I could have stayed 2 nights at a beautiful place anywhere in Crete. The "all inclusive" part is also misleading. I paid 4 euros for a plastic cup of coca cola and a bottle of water. If you know Crete...this is NOTHING like Crete. I gave 5 stars for the room and staff as it was clean and they were friendly and helpful.
Heather Stathopoulos — Google review
Truly comfortable room (family of 4 placed in a quiet room with 6 beds, 2 bathrooms), nice swimming pools and slides, extra attractions at the sea and in the evenings at the main bar. Good food if you stay for up to a week. VIP space was the only drawback (music at max volume from 14 till 19) but we spent that time farther from it and then it was bearable. Waterpark busy on weekends with guests also from outside. Many car hires around to choose the right price for a day.

Amazing staff! Amazing food! Amazing location!
Really the staff and the food made it such a wonderful vacation. We felt personally close to those working there and they were so kind and helpful. And the food was amazing! So much selection and so much to eat.
The location was perfect for our young family to play everyday on the beach too. Kids ages ranged from newborn to 5.
Rooms are so so, but we didn’t spend much time there except for sleeping.
We would love to come again! You have a beautiful island and beautiful people!

First time in an all inclusive resort, it was the right choice! The place is well kept, clean and safe. Perfect fo children and families, lots of pools, tobogans, the pirate ship, and food for all tastes. It was a brilliant week, the blue of the ski and sea are amazing; the people of Crete are fantastic too. We will return for more
Jose C — Google review
Overall it was an amazing experience, as it had everything you wanted it to have to be a 5 star holiday. For example a snack bar, clean and pristine pools, great service, nice hospitality and lovely food. Altogether one of the best hotel experiences one could ever have.
Renjan Thomas — Google review
Fantastic holiday at this resort for myself, husband and 2 children. Room great and spacious, 2 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms. Fresh towels and bottled water every day, beds made also. Food fabulous in main restaurant. Friendly staff, especially Angelos at the pool bar. Pool towels exchanged every day. Lovely garden areas for photos. Amazing facilities nearby. Highly recommend it!😍
Julie Moran — Google review
We had such a wonderful time there. Excellent food, drinks, swimming pools, beaches, water slides for kids and adults. There are also beach parties everyday for the youngsters (which can be very noisy for some of the rooms). Overall a very positive experience.
Oded Baron — Google review
Been home after a week at star beach. The food, staff and holiday was absolutely brilliant. The only comment is we were in the star beach city annex apartments , we did have our own pool but to get to the main hotel we either had to cross a dangerous road or go under a makeshift tunnel, it’s ok if your under 5foot 2 but not lit and quite wet and slippy under foot , maybe provide a regular shuttle bus or make something safer. Especially if people can’t walk very far. It did not spoil the holiday just a suggestion and we would definitely come back . Really did not want to leave.
Sharon Moses — Google review
This place is really nice to visit. Food was great, always plenty of option to choose from. Service was mainly great and quality of room was above average. There are multiple swimming pools for kids separated for different age. Everyone can find what they like. Access to the sea is a bit more steep, beaches are not the cleanest. But there are showers with water everywhere, so you can shower the sea water easily from yourself.
Room service is good, but there is room for improvement.
Dining in the main are has every night different type of food you can choose from. There is always fresh food being prepared and plenty of vegeterian and vegan options.
Sweet corner was amazing!
There is also go-cart racing you can visit, which is open till late hours. Some rooms are faced to this area, so its not best if you want to go to sleep early :)
Highly recommending this place for family vacation!
Radek Appl — Google review
We stayed at this hotel last year in June. The size of the hotel is very nice with nice swiming pools area for kids but not for adults unless you want to go to VIP area where kids are not allowed and you have to pay for loungers and drinks in the bar as none of this is included in all inclusive.
Entertainment is not the best, food is average and same food served everyday.
The personel is average except cleaners who at lest try to smile at you 😀 I've been at many hotels but this one is last on my list so far I will probably never visit again.

Highly recommended. Stayed April 2022. Everything perfect 😊. Rooms very comfortable, staff very friendly, food in all 3 restaurants delicious😋 with great choice. Will definitely look to stay here again.

Amazing amazing amazing ! I cannot recommend enough. We have really enjoyed our stay. Kids loved it ! We will be back so impressed from day one when we arrived after 2am in the morning we were welcomed by food and taken to our room. Lovely staff. The bar staff by the pool were amazing and to be able to choose your own food and give it to the chef was great. They cleaned room every single day and done a great job ! The amount of food you could choose from plus 2 restaurants to book where food was so nice. If you got kids who are fussy eaters this is the place for you if you are going all inclusive. Great entertaiment everyday. We can't complain plenty to do. Great location. We hired our car from the hotel plus there are plenty of car parks around the hotel or at the front great and easy access. Good location to travel to other palces to visit. Can't wait to be back.

It is a vacation and I can’t complain much about that!
There are always pros and cons to every place.
Pros
The food is unbelievable! The Asian place is delicious and the variety is there.
Price during opening of season was a steal of a deal
The mini disco was fun for the children and the two workers are hard working to make it a fun time
The beach is beautiful and lots of seating!
Lots of pools to be found.
There is lots of amenities near by within walking distance
The evening shows were entertaining
Staff generally kind
Cons
The rooms seem outdated and could use a facelift
The gym hours are exactly when I don’t want to workout (9-18h)
The kids club doesn’t seem super safe. There is no check in or check out system (had to constantly monitor my kids were there)
The resort drinks are not as good as some resorts I’ve been to (limited options)
This is not common in Greece but could make for a nicer vacation in the early season…. No pools heated or a hot tub would be cool!
Towel exchange hours are annoying
Wifi never worked for me… despite trying everything the resort asked me to do. I took off a star for this also since I’m strictly off data and require wifi to communicate as an international traveller. It was a slap in the face to see signs around the resort stating that there is free wifi.
Cell reception can be in and out around the resort
As I was checking out I went to get our shuttle which was stated that we had a free airport transfer. The hotel seemed to say we needed to stay a minimum of 8 nights to receive this service. We stayed 7 and nowhere in our booking did it say we required a stay of 8 nights to receive this service. As a matter of fact it said we had a free transfer and to send our information for times and when we would like to use the shuttle. This caused us a headache and the staff were not very responsive. I have taken off a star just for this interaction.
I would recommend the resort to people as long as they know that there are significant pros and cons. Hopefully my review will help you when making a decision. Please keep in mind our visit was early in the season and not all of the resort is up and running.
Carleen Pocklington — Google review
We had such an amazing time at this resort! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. My kids absolutely enjoyed their time at the water park and the beautiful beach at the resort.
The service from the reception desk was brilliant and the house keeping staff were always taking good care of our room and were there to help if we needed anything!
I would like to give a big shout out to the chef in the main restaurant who went above and beyond for my son who has an egg allergy. My son was given freshly prepped and cooked food straight from the kitchen and then placed onto the table infront of him by the chef himself. We will definitely be coming back in the future!
Thank you Star Beach Village & Water Park for a fantastic holiday!!
Family Treats — Google review
We didn't stay here, but we did spend a day at the water park, so this is the experience my review is based on. It was great fun for my 4 year old daughter, she loved the kids' slides and spent several hours playing around the area. We decided to give this place a go as the high winds made most nearby beaches have a red flag. There is no entrance fee, but you do pay for sunbeds(€8 for one) and umbrellas(€4). You can choose whether you want to stay near the beach, which is quite small, but in a small gulf, so protected from big waves, on the grass, under the palm trees, or closer to the pool. We chose to stay near the kids' zone and, at some point in the afternoon( around 2 or 3pm, I think), extremely loud music started blasting from the nearby 18+ pool area. When we went to get something to eat, the noise was filling the terrace area as well, as it was right next to it. I would not recommend eating there - so far, it was the worst food we've had since we got to Crete, the service was not friendly at all, the water came with plastic cups even though we were sat at a table and, as a first, we were required to pay upfront when we ordered, not when we'd finished eating. There was a fast food feel to the whole eating experience, though the prices did not reflect this. As a one off, if you have kids, you could pay this place a visit, but overall I see no reason why we would return. I cannot imagine what it must be like to actually book a room there, given the level of noise!

We are home from last week and already missing the hotel. Had a lovely week. Food was great, waterpark was so close. Room big enough for 5 person. Always found something to eat for young daughter with diabetes. Maybe we come back next year
Kelly Maatje — Google review
It was a lovely experience for my family. There was something for everyone to do. The pool side had various activities such as aqua gym, table tennis, football, pilates, yoga, dart game, shows and music for night time, There was never a dull moment during my visit. The icing on the cake was that we were never hungry before the next meal as there was more than enough food, drinks, slushy, and ice cream at different locations. Lovely holiday, would recommend to families.
Seyi Dominic — Google review
This is set in a beautiful part of Crete however the hotel has some areas that look tired and I felt sorry for the staff and most of them looked like they were just doing a job and not enjoying it. The sea is beautiful here and is great for snorkelling as there are so many fish. The hotel is generally clean, but you can tell it needs some money spending on things to tidy it up. There is a big choice of food in the all-inclusive and the cocktails are OK. Lots of pools to use and facilities. It is rated as a 4 star hotel but I would suggest more like a 3 star. It wasn't too busy here, but I can imagine in high season, the food halls could be very over crowded.
Jen — Google review
Great resort for vacation with children. The food was on 3/5, a lot to choose from but mostly stale, it takes time to pick the good from the mediocre. The Breakfast Bacon was superb. The Omelette chef is a kind of artist but the restaurant should have given him more workspace and help.
Most of the service staff are without joy or willingness to help. The guys at the Blue Star Beach Bar were exceptional, they are energetic, and give service from the heart. The Wok master there creates the most tasty noodles. This bar gets 5 stars from me.
Other people complained about the service, I tried to be polite and always greet the service givers with a smile and mostly got one back. It pays a great deal to be nice to people.

Delicious food. Diversity in places and choose its great for All food lovers.for Sure perfekt for familiies with Kids. The village is awasome, u can literally find your favorite place to chill on sun- on the beach, rocks or at the swimming Pool with somw music. Lokation also great , you can find everything what u need direct here. And also its like 5 min walk to the Center street with a lot of Shops and like 15 min to heart of the night life whats also diverse and just nice. All the Service people great. I do recommend this place and may come back !

4 star hotel with waterpark. Food was amazing very wide choice at all meal times 2 additional options to book an evening meal at an Asian restaurant and a Cretian one. Whole complex / village is very clean couple of small beaches to choose from. Loads of pools to choose from and an abundance of loungers in the waterpark. Theres scuba diving and watersports available for additional cost and a go kart track right next door. Also a pizzeria and bar that arent included in the all inclusive package however the snacks available at the pool and waterpark are also very good. Cheese and ham toastie/ chips pizza / ice cream and noodle bar in the waterpark and drinks in the all inclusive package. Towels are free you just exchange a card daily for fresh. Room cleaned daily. All staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help. Hotel shop was a bit pricey but theres a Spar shop over the road which was cheaper for inflatables souvenirs etc etc. Short walk into main strip loads of places to hire cars bikes quads so you can access more of the local area. Good evening entertainment we had a lovely week away.
rob garrington — Google review
I would give this place 5 stars for a family getaway. The cleanliness was great. The food choices (3 restaurants) were fantastic. The beaches and water entertainment for the kids, teenagers and adults was just what you’d hope for in a trip to the island. The open bars and snacks were just what you’d hope for at an all inclusive. We didn’t participate too much in the evening activities or kids entertainment but what we saw, we were impressed with. They had mini disco for the kids each night and usually some level of family entertainment just after. The open bar was open to midnight. The staff was friendly and the beds were actually very comfortable. Thank you Star Beach Village for an excellent vacation.
Justin Allen — Google review
It is amazing hotel the reception hotel very good and really helpful. Only the one thing I don't like us the last bar after after the pool have 2 man staff one off them not good and make a bad service
RANA Arzouni — Google review
Just back from a fantastic week at Star Beach Village. First time in Greece and first all inclusive for us.
The room was basic but that's all we needed and all we paid for. The main thing was it was clean and well maintained by the staff.
The water park was fantastic and the kids could have stayed there all day every day.
The hotel is located right next to the sea with access to 3 different beaches, all nice and clean with great snorkelling around the rocks. Going at helf term meant it wasn't too busy or too hot.
Around the hotel was quite quiet due to the time of year and other resorts having closed but everything we wanted was still open, just less busy... which was great! There's plenty to do nearby too.
Everyone enjoyed the restaurants and we were very impressed with the range on offer and the lengths the very friendly and courteous staff went to to ensure we had what we wanted and that the place was clean and tidy. The chef even made our youngest a special pudding just for him to cater to his food intolerances.
All in all, a brilliant place to have a holiday and made all the better by the staff at all levels.
Tim Parsons — Google review
The variety of food for a 4 star hotel is really great. But I would like to see more choices in the drink department. Also I feel like the plastic cups are being overused, especially in the lobby bar. I understand them being used at the beach bars, bot not here.
Rooms are great. Nothing more to say.
Staff - serves are okay, receptionist phenomenal.
Would like to praise the younger servers as they are very polite.
The location of the resort is ideal for me. 15minutes of walking to the town.
I like the resort layout and their number of activities that you can do nearby. The number of sunbeds is enough as we were always able to lay where we wanted even during noon.
Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre is a small yet informative facility that offers interactive experiences with various reptiles and sea life. Visitors can touch and learn about tortoises, snakes, and other animals while showing proper respect. The friendly owners and staff are knowledgeable about the different species and happy to share their expertise. As a rescue center, supporting their mission is encouraged. Overall, it is a great place for those interested in marine life and reptiles.
It’s a small but wonderful place! What it lacks I. Size it makes up in information and accessibility to the animals. You can touch tortoise, snakes and other reptiles. Do take care to show the proper respect to the animals of course.
Very friendly owners/staff who can and will give you more information about the different animals.
As it’s also rescue center, try to visit to support their activities. As it’s a beautiful mission they are following!
Kris Vanbrabant — Google review
Amazing place to visit, not just seaside which can be found around the coastal waters of Crete. The also have reptiles that have been handed over to them or left for them to care for. They are very educational as well with school trips and visits to schools in the local area. To also survive were others have not during the pandemic. Every time we come to Crete we always visit to see new and existing marine life and reptiles. A big thank you to John and his wife and the team for a marvellous job they do in running the place.
Alan Cocksedge — Google review
A fantastic small rescue centre for various fish, reptiles and other wonderful creatures. We had the opportunity to hold one of the snakes and to watch one being fed. There's lots of variety to see here, the staff are all very helpful and they do great work. We spent around an hour here, there is lots of information to read if you'd like to. €16 for 2 adults was agreeable considering it goes towards the care of these wonderful animals I won't ever get to see except in such situations!

We really enjoyed our visit, very interactive, hands on experience, the vivarium and aquarium inhabitants were well looked after and staff enthusiastic/passionate. Kids loved it and so did we.
Amy Longworth — Google review
A nice rescue place. It's possible to hold some animals and take photos with them. The staff is really knowledgeable and are happy to share their knowledge with the visitors.
melanie kroeger — Google review
Very enjoyable. Getting up close and personal with the reptiles was a highlight. Great value for money. They clearly care for the animals. Would recommend being there for 10.30 to see the turtle (Stephania) and the octopus being fed and the stories behind them. If you have 1-2 hours spare it's definitely worth it. The work they're doing is so admirable that we just had to leave a donation.
John — Google review
Nice collection of local fishes, reptiles. Not just an exhibition but can pet snakes, lizards and turtles in a small garden. There is no dedicated parking space but the road usually not crowded. Bank card payments are accessible
Andras A. — Google review
A great place where you can go, if you need a break from the sunshine. But you don't need that excuse at all. Brilliant experience for adults and children. Possibility to see fish, crabs, starfish etc. You will be welcomed by 25 year old tortoise who is walking freely around the place. You might enjoy holding white and yellow python or a gecko.
All the animals are like pets
It's good to support this place especially that the owner rescued lots of them and believe that he will find a room for more.
Magda King — Google review
Great little aquarium and reptile sanctuary run by an incredibly kind and driven team. Multilingual information regarding the fish and reptile species on display makes a visit worthwhile regardless of your language. Many of the animals on display were rescued and all are taken care of with a great deal of dedication. If you're in Hersonissos or around the area it's definitely worth a visit.
Bowen de Vries — Google review
Although small, this was a fantastic place to visit. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and genuinely cared for the animals! You could interact with the animals, watch them getting fed and hold some of the reptiles!! We spent about an hour here but it was absolutely worth visiting!! The entrance fee is used to look after the animals and rescue others!! If you're near it, visit!!
Karen James — Google review
Soooo this place is nice and cute but tbh I don’t think peta would be happy with this. So it’s €10 to get in which is cheap. It’s a rescue centre which is great but a lot of the animals were in small cages and everything. There was a sea turtle who was blind just in this tiny pool not a lot of room. I just felt it wasn’t best for the animals there also was a boa snake just in a plastic container not a lot of room to move around.
None of the animals had lots of space in their cages like not a lot of room.
So next when you go to the back the have snakes and lizards you can hold which is okay but I guess the animals will get fed up when they are being held all day. There was a massive tortoise just in the corner not moving which was kind of depressing we were there for maybe an hour and it didn’t move once. Sea turtles everywhere even hiding behind everything which was a bit sad but a small area for all the animals.
But that’s my opinion
Louisaaa 1998 — Google review
Wonderful place! The owner is so nice to all visitors, he has great stories to share about how he rescue reptiles and his water turtle, who is blind. He feeds the animals in the morning and tells you the story about how the animals are being rescued and how he needs to take care of them. I was thrilled by his enthusiasm and passion for animals! Really great experience to see this live. You can even touch snakes and repriles and hold them in your hands.

Great little place with so much packed in. It’s a nice few hours to spend there- so many species of fish and wildlife etc that we wouldn’t get chance to see in the Uk. The owner is very knowledgeable and his staff are great! The kids loved the experience of holding the reptiles and learning about them.
Amie Hall — Google review
A really lovely centre. Lots of amazing animals, some of which we could hold and touch, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Despite being very small, we were there for a few hours. So much value for such a small entry fee.
Thank you for rescuing and looking after the animals and teaching people about them!

What a great little place to visit. We could hold snakes and reptiles which was an unforgettable experience. Also, the fish there were very interesting. The tanks were clear and we could get some amazing pictures. The staff and the owners were very nice people. Highly recommend 5/5⭐

Cool place to see. Nice fish and reptiles. I was scared, but if you like snakes then you can take a photo and the crew will help you. Fishes are amazing and pretty. Also, turtles and tortoises or crabs. It is nice to see ocean life near you. Also, it doesn't take long to see everything, so you can easily go sunbathing or swimming before and after go see this place.

Amazing place, small and cozy. Very nice staff, you can see how they take care of the animals, how much love they give them. There are animals who were rescued and brought there. Our family had a very good time watching and petting the animals and listening to the explanations of the workers. Thank you very much for being so kind, you are doing a great job.
The Minoan Palace of Knossos is an archaeological site on the island of Crete and is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. The palace was built around 1600 BCE and at its peak, it is estimated that over 100,000 people resided there. The palace has remained largely intact since its construction and provides a unique look into Minoan culture and art.
Amazing place full of history. Easy to walk around, if you are in hurry you could see everything in 15 minutes. I recommend visiting in the morning, because in the afternoon the sun will be above the pillars with the bull painting and it will be harder to take a good photo. A lot of free parking spaces nearby. Adult ticket costs 15€ (april 2022). There are many gift shops across the street.

Knossos Palace is a must see if you're interested in the history of the Minoan civilization and Bronze Age here in Crete.
Beware that there are tour guides that will try to offer you their service and they charge quite a bit. We were told that the normal cost earlier in the day is €100 for a family of four. We were there later in the day, so our guide offered us a price of €70 and we negotiated down to €60. The tour lasted about an hour and ten minutes.
Although tour guides give you the key details, you might want to supplement your tour with a guide book and walk through a second time. It just seemed like we missed some interesting details. There are very few plaques or signs that provide info about what you're seeing.
Note: you can buy Combination tickets that are good for both the Archaeological Museum and the Palace, for up to three days. They cost €20 per person. Our children entered for free based on age and residence.
Overall, I feel that this is a place to see once, so make the most of it!

For the history, this place is incredible! We walked right up and didn’t have to wait to buy tickets! If you are taking a stroller, it will be a challenge, so keep this in mind. It’s incredible and the history makes it worth the visit! It’s very well preserved and you can discover it at your own pace. Make sure to you take a look at the throne room. Guided tours are available right when you arrive, if of interest!

A beautiful place with a piece of history. I recommend buying tickets in advance at the Archaeological Museum, which thematically perfectly combines with the Minoan Palace (the price for a combined ticket for an adult is 20 euros). In the afternoon the place wasn't that crowded, with only occasional groups of people in the most interesting places.

We went on a Sunday, entrance is free on a Sunday.
You need a guide or a detailed account of the site to get any real feel for it. The site has been quite brutally reconstructed and it rips the authenticity out of it.
I appreciate it's a tourist location and it needs to create interest, just don't go there thinking you're going to see Ephesus or the Parthenon.

One of the most historic sites on the planet. Firstly you enter the park tickets are 8€ during off season btw Nov - March 21st. When you finish paying the entrance fee you are greeted by a guide, if you'd like a private tour for an additional cost you can partake but I choose the virtual tour. To use the virtual tour download the app at the gate, there should be a qr code present for you to do so.

This site is incredible, but I recommend arriving when it first opens to avoid crowds. I also highly recommend arranging for a tour guide that is familiar and trained in the Palace. There are informational signs, but having a guide makes the experience that much more interesting. There are a ton of peacocks that live here permanently as well as some very friendly cats. It's amazing to stand in rooms that are thousands of years old. A great destination for history enthusiasts.

The palace wasn’t either surprising nor extraordinary, at all, the tickets were quite expensive, I wouldn’t say it’s much worth it. We were definitely expecting something better than just a few renewed ruins, but after all it’s been built nearly 3 thousand years ago, which is really cool. If you have the time and money, I believe it’s worth taking a visit

Not a lot of reality left here. The museum has all of the statues, and the English Archaeologist recreated sections of the temple as he saw fit. Many sections were closed off today so you could not get to the whole site. The ruins in Athens are better preserved and more original in nature. Visit the museum!

An excellent experience for ancient history on Crete. Ticket booths and washrooms were organized and easy to navigate. Washrooms were very clean. Thankfully there are shady areas on site if you are visiting during the peak heat of the day.

There's lots to explore and take photos of. Depending on how much you like to explore, you could easily spend hours here.

To appreciate the monument, scale, technical achievement, history etc, we think you need to spend longer than the 1 hour most guided tours offer when combined with a day/1/2 day tour. We spent 2-3 hours walking around, sitting quietly and also eating our picnic lunch. Lots of online background info to help appreciate the site and history. Public bus from the central bus station every 15 mins. Buying tickets from the kiosk at the bus stop cheaper than on the bus. In some ways the most impressive structure, for me is the one most visitors will take for granted, the quadrangle/concourse.

Ancient archaeological sites are worth a visit, especially Knossos. Visited over 20 years ago, and recently returned during a family holiday on Crete. It is impressive how advanced the Minoan civilization had become. As one tours the site, either guided or self tour, the Palace and surrounding grounds are captivating. With a bit of imagination, Theseus, the Minotaur and Daedalus’ labyrinth almost come to life (if you like mythology!).
Just a travel tip: During high season, there can be long lines and extra wait times to enter exhibits. It’s recommended to carry additional water and some good walking shoes.

My partner and I visited Knossos with another couple in early March 2024. In the parking lot, before the entance, we were accosted by locals charging 25 euros per person for a guided tour. We declined and discovered the site was well-signed in Greek and English. There was little chance of getting lost. The entrance fee was only 6 euros pp. We all found the site interesting and it was fun to explore. After reading many myths about the Minotaur, I was disappointed to not find the legendary labyrinth. Situated 5 km south of Heraklion, the majestic Knossos Palace traces its origins back to the Neolithic era, with its most notable development phase occurring during the Minoan period. As the cornerstone of the Minoan civilization, Knossos Palace held significant importance and was highly esteemed.
Present day visitors can meander through the captivating remnants of this ancient palace, offering history aficionados a wealth of insights. Its remarkably preserved state provides an enchanting window into the everyday life of the Minoans. Besides being an architectural marvel, Knossos was considered a mystical location by King Minos who, according to legend, purportedly kept the Minotaur within a labyrinth here.

The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is a museum in Heraklion, Crete, which houses artefacts from the Neolithic to the Roman periods. The building was designed by renowned Greek architect Panagiotis Kalkos and is considered one of the best ancient art museums in Europe.
Very well set up, all the information available in English. It has a good organization through the time. They included quite interesting details, the ligth is well set up so most of the time you could take nice pictures. The rooms are plenty of space, so you can enjoy the visit even in crowded moments.

Great museum and very beautiful items and displays. The only part I didn't like was that I paid full price for a ticket and the Greek/roman statue section was closed and I wasn't told when purchasing which I feel warrants a cheaper price. Takes a while to get around also and if you want to visit the place the artifacts are from (mostly Knossos palace) you can buy the dual ticket and get the number 2 bus. Well worth a trip to both.

This is a must visit museum! It is one of the best museums I’ve ever visited and it is the most important museum to learn about the ancient Minoan culture, history, artwork and artifacts. The selection of items were very extensive, and they were carefully curated both in Greek and English. It is also unique because these are not items you can find in other museums in the world. What’s so impressive to me was how carefully preserved these items were. Or perhaps some of these were carefully restored but one would never think that some were from 4-5000 years ago. I do notice that some people touch some of the artifacts which frustrated me. Perhaps it would be wise to section off some of those items so that they cannot be damaged. There is an app that goes with tours for the museum. However, I find the app a little bit confusing, but nonetheless, you can read up more on certain items carefully after your visit. This museum requires 3 to 4 hours at least to carefully see, and absorb all the information. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

Absolutely loved going here ❤️. Why I haven't been here all these years, I'll never know (oh yes, covid came and we had lock downs). On a happier note, I took loads of pictures, it was all so fascinating. I think if anyone plans to go to Knossos Palace, it is a good idea to come here first. I wish I had, as my visit to Knossos Palace would have made way more sense, and I could have placed the objects I saw at the museum, that Knossos.

If you've been to the palace first, then it makes sense to see the museum. But otherwise it's just full of hundreds of clay bulls!
But if you know the background then it adds the context as to why they're important.
The staff are like boring lifeguards, we got told off so many times for pointing, getting to close to items on display, loitering, laughing to loudly & taking photos posing next to statue's where photos are allowed (see pictures attached)! So it took the fun out of being there.

This new archaeological museum has so much to see it's almost impossible to absorb everything in one visit. It's simply mind-blowing for all you history geeks out there.
I don't remember the entrance fee but it wasn't much, less than 10 euros, I think.
Go! Immerse yourself into it! Take enough time to really enjoy everything this beautiful museum has to offer.

Breathtakingly beautiful exhibition. You'd question what happened to the human race for the past 5000 years, as ancient Greeks arguably make more modern, exquisite and imaginative art works!
It's worth highlighting that the official mobile app of the museum is incredibly helpful - out of all the museums I've visited these years, including the British Museum and Athens Archeology Museum, I'd say this museum's app is the most clear, informative and easy to use one. Makes the visit a lot more guided.

Do the Palace of Knossos before coming here, if you want to have a greater appreciation for the history and adventure that lead to many of these artifacts being featured in this museum.
It is incredible that there is so much in this museum despite being up to 5,000 years old.
My mind was blown that the ancient Greeks saw the Minoans as we see the ancient Greeks. This multi tiered layers of history and mythology have shaped the western world from sports to religion.
A true local and healthy feast for the eyes, mind and spirit.

Pretty modern, clean and interesting museum. Highly recommend seeing the Knossos ruins beforehand (preferably with a guide) to get a better understanding of a lot of the items on display here and make the most of the experience.
WARNING: Although taking pictures inside is allowed, it is not allowed to take them with any gestures, grimaces, etc. (peace signs / thumbs up)
They don't seem to tell you this at the entrance, so a few people, including myself, got in trouble for it. (The staff ask you to delete the photos)
Armin Čaušević — Google review
Very old-fashioned museum, 90s style, absolutely not interactive like other modern museums. Museum keepers are very mean to the tourists. They do not allow to pose for the pictures with the exhibits, and if you do, prepare, that the lady approaches you and demands to delete all the pics off your phone.
As for the exhibits themselves: too much clay, all put together, no proper chronology. To understand what you see, you have to read the long descriptions in a rather small font.
I do not recommend this place. There are better ways to spend 12 €.
Nat Myk — Google review
We stopped in on our last day in Crete and were glad we did. The artifacts are incredible and the way the museum flows is thoughtful and logical. The BIGGEST downside, is that we happened to go the same day as a cruise ship so it was packed. The museum isn't very big so it was loud and at times difficult to get up to see the artifacts.
The staff is great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend getting a guide that knows where all the good stuff is and has some inside knowledge so you can better understand what you're looking at.

We bought our tickets on their website, choosing from 4-5pm.
When we went there around 15:30 to be early, they told us it was closed, we showed them our tickets and still refused.
The next day we went early in the morning and showed the lady who denied us the entry the day before if we could use the tickets and she said no, but we had the proof that the museum makes you select the time you’d like to visit (as every single museum in the world), she said it was for “statistics”, to this day, I will never find out what that meant.
We had to beg security to let us in and we could finally appreciate this place.
They urgently need to fix their website, we were not the only ones affected.

It's a very interesting museum with an overwhelming amount of ceramics, stamps, jewellery, and other treasures from the minoan period and Knossos.
This is really what I missed when visiting the site of the Palace. There it could have been a great help to have the model on exposure together with just a few things from the museum, to make that visit more interesting and as a carot to visit the museum in town.
I spent three amazing hours and knew a lot more about how skilled people were in those days. The pottery really blew my mind! So many different forms and minute decorations. Not speaking of the head of the bull!
I really recommend visiting this museum!

Cave Ideon Antron, a large limestone cavern system, is believed to be the birthplace of Zeus, the mythical king of the gods. Despite its seemingly unremarkable appearance, it holds great sacred significance in mythology as the place where Zeus was raised by his mother. Visitors can combine a trip to Sfendoni caves at Zoniana for a full day of exploration.
We were hesitant about going up Mt Ida for a cave. And really, unless you are really into Greek Mythology, there isn't much to get excited about. But the view is spectacular. Quiet, scenic and a perfect afternoon. It made it well worth the drive. Take the road slow and stay on your lane and there wont be any problems. It is a good paved road up to a parking area (beside the half constructed hotel) and then a 15 minute hike up. If you can't hike, you can walk the gravel road, but it will take longer.

The drive up alone to this cave is worth it for the truly stunning scenery and interesting views, the plateau is incredible and looks like an African savannah, truly dripping in natural beauty. We arrived at the end of the tarmac road and carried on up the gravel road to a parking area just below the entrance, we walked up to the entrance to be greeted by a young lady and her son, she gave us a book on the area and informed us the entrance was free, she then proceeded to give us a guided tour, not a great deal to see but worth it none the less, over all a great visit and definitely worth the effort.

Unfortunately the cave is currently closed due to safety concerns. We still went though as it is a place of ancient history and myth. The drive up from Anogia was spectacular with amazing views and probably worth the trip for that. Entry was free and the gate was being locked when we left around 16.00.
Gareth Porter — Google review
Went there 5pm and nobody was around. Was able to drive all the way to the gate. Side gate at the entrance was open so we kind of slipped in. Alot of birds on the ceiling and a little bit spooky place all alone.
Jaakko Laihonen — Google review
We think this is a 5* day if combined with a visit to Sfendoni caves at Zoniana. Whilst Ideon cave itself is a little dank, we loved the visit because of the geology of the cave, the birdlife (incl. crag martins and vultures soaring above) and the historical significance. But most of all we loved the surroundings - the beautiful Nida basin which looks like a piece of savanna, and the stunning drive to it. Oh, and we saw a goat in a tree, which totally made our day!
Traveller tips @ May 2023:
- Google maps is still wrong: DO NOT take the road south from Zoniana - it does not lead to the cave, but will take you up to a 1700m church under the summit of the mountain - fascinating, but on a rubble strewn road that's not for the fainthearted! And it will take 1.5 hours out of your day. The road from Anogeia is the only route to the cave.
- There no longer seems to be a charge for parking.
- They shut the gate to the cave at around 3.30pm one the day we visited (Tuesday). Not sure if you can get to it after this.
- In theory you can drive up the track to a parking place close to the cave; we saw a little hire car manage it, but it's pretty rough. Better, if you can, to park at the disused mountain centre and walk up the stony path which takes around 20 mins and has points of interest and shady places to rest.
- It's nice to walk down the track, as it's easier to admire the view down into the valley.
- The whole plateau has been populated with information boards and walk routes, including a loop of Nida, which we didn't do but would be lovely.

This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen, amazing! (It’s nice and cool, that is nice on a sunny day, in the winter maybe wear a jacket)
Take the old rock path on the right to go above, and the straight path on the left to go down. The walk is 15 min. And the entrance is €6,- but worth it.

The road to get at this cave is fantastic when you come from the south. It’s really off-road but amazing views. The cave itself is not that phenomenal but interesting enough to come over. The site is an old archeological site but no activity anymore. You can see the top of the mountain Psiloritis. Take a sweater with you. It’s quite chilly.

The cave is supposed to be where Zeus grew up, but I don't think this destination is worth visiting unless you are close to this place. You have to drive more than an hour 40 km per hour up a steep mountain road, the entrance is free, but there is nothing much to see there, just a cave with steps down, some excavations and that's it. If I had knew this before I drove there , I would have chosen to visit the canyon. Do not recommend going there, for the most part just a waste of time.
Дмитрий Марков — Google review
The cave has a beautiful drive up to it through the mountains, which is well worth stopping and having a look at. The site is not well signposted so even at the carpark we were unsure if we were in the right place. Parking was €3 and is the only option. You start either on a path to the left or up some stairs. If you can I recommend the path started by stairs, it's quicker and more fun but very rocky and steep .The second path is smooth but longer, theyre are signs recommending the use of a donkey, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE DONKEYS. They struggled to stand, had bald areas and no water. If you cannot walk the paths you shouldn't go. Once you're at the top you pay entrance to the cave at €6, there is one signpost which tells you a brief outline of Zeus being there and thr discovery of the cave but it's very short and sadly the only information you get. The cave is impressive but more could be done with lighting and signs. Overall it's was enjoyable but maybe not worth driving to far to see.

Beatiful view and interesting cave. Could't enter because of ice in front of the enterance.
Tjek your GPS when you are drivning down the mountain though, we should drive to Zaros and went on a 9 km small and very scary roadtrip.

The cave is good, fairly priced at €6. It's a tough walk up there in high heat. Then there is the tourist rip off points called refreshments, top tip take your own or pay extortionate prices.
Melidoni Cave, also known as "Gerontospilios," is a captivating network of subterranean chambers located about 1,800 meters northwest of the village of Melidoni in Crete. This mysterious cave holds great archaeological significance and houses various artifacts that have been unearthed over time. It was once a significant worship site during the Minoan period, associated with the mythological giant Talos of Crete.
Great little cave with a lot of stalagmites and stalactites. It also contains a tribute to the fallen women and children who died from the turks. The ticket is 4 euros per adult and the view outside is breathtaking.

Amazed with the place and the history behind it. Definitely a must if you are in the area. It’s a quick walk, however lots of stairs to go inside the cave so not handicap accessible. My mom walked half easy down and then had to go back up but we went down and enjoyed seeing the cave. It took us about 40 minutes total
In and out.

Very spacious cave that has an easy to follow path. Very good place to survive from the heat:) The place also have a bar with stunning panoramic views about the valley. It has an internal and external free parking area. Worth to visit during afternoon to avoid traffic

Absolutely beautiful. Lovely drive up to the caves with plenty of space for parking. Really reasonable price to get in, easy walk to the caves and inside is stunning. Not a place you would spend hours at, we only had a short stop there but it’s really worth a visit. Beautiful view from the parking area too.
Also when we visited a member of staff had recently got married and left some favours out for visitors to take. Such a sweet idea and really made me smile. I have kept the bag and ribbon special.

Without a doubt of all the caves I’ve been in this one is spectacular. It’s amazing to see and walk around knowing this cave has taken 1000s of years to form.
The cave is easy to find. But google maps might take you down some tight roads
Entrance fee is 4€ per person and YOU need a current COVID vaccination pass to enter.
This is checked
Free parking. But please be aware there are plenty of steps and some are slippery

Nice experience with impressive background story.
Although the cave is not small it won't take up to much time (25 min.) The restaurant that is also part of it serves great coffee and fresh drinks. Clean toilets. Nice views.

Majestic. The cave itself is very impressive. It is located on top of a hill which offers great view from the top. Easy to get to by a car. The cave costs 4 euros per person to go inside. I think they've said there's 100 stairs. Its was easy even with our 14 month old baby. It was 18 degrees inside so no need for extra clothing. Definitely worth visiting.

We went on 31st December. So it was off season and almost public holiday. There was no rush rather weirdly empty. There are 3 parts of the cave out of which 2 were closed for maintenance. So we could cover that in 15 minutes. While the cave history is fascinating the cave itself is quite small. But it is worth a visit once definitely. Just one note, in the peak season parking can be a challenging task, there are parking place for 6-7 cars and rest goes into the road. So plan your visit accordingly

Impressive cave and worth a visit. Just be aware that this is a rather short visit as there is only 1 room to explore. I would not recommend it if you have to drive far, but it definitely is an impressive (and historical) place. If you can add it to your plan, do it.

Wow!! My husband and I were blown away by this cave. We went to Zeus's cave the previous day, but liked this cave much more. The stairs and pathways are in great shape with excellent lighting. The cave just is awe inspiring - you feel so small knowing how much history has transpired in this place. Definitely worth visiting. The staff at the ticket office are some of the friendliest we have met on our 2 week visit to Greece ☺️

370 women and children were murdered in the cave in the 1800's, killed by asphyxiation which is pretty gnarly. The limestone has created rock formations over 200 million years. When you step back and think about it it's an amazing place.

I visited Melidoni Cave in the off-season so I had the cave all to myself. If you visit in the winter, they have very limited hours so plan accordingly.
I was staying in Rethymno for a few days so it was an easy 1 hour drive through the twisty mountain roads. If you start your day in the morning, you can pair up the visit to the cave with something like Arkadi Monastery, stopping by a local tavern in between or in the end. If you’re out of Rethimno, it’s an easy loop for a day trip.
Story of Melidoni Cave:
At the beginning of November 1824, during an Ottoman operation to eliminate the resistance in and around the surrounding villages, 300+ civilians and 20+ fighters took refuge in the cave waiting to be saved.
After refusing to leave the cave when they were eventually discovered, the leader of the Ottoman Army unit ordered his men to seal the entrance of the cave with rocks and stones and afterwards to set flammable materials on fire. The civilians and their defenders died by suffocation.

Stairs is not so long and temperature inside the cave is much lower than outside what helps you to climb up the stairs. Cave is beautiful and there are some descriptions which interesting to read. Parking is in front of entrance. WC is near ticket office and it’s free. I liked this place.

Great to visit as a break from the hot weather. Combine with Reptisland down the hill for a great half day out of the sun.
Take your time in the entrance to the cave to allow your eyes to adjust and watch your step on the way down. Superb cave to visit, unlike anything we've ever seen before.
Matt Wheat — Google review
A wonderful cave that you can explore on your own. The round does not take much time. The cave has a quiet atmosphere and the mind is sad when you think of the 370 villagers who were killed in the cave in 1823. The remains of the victims are gathered in a grave that is in the cave.

Absolutely amazing place to visit and worth a trip here. Only 4 euros each to go in which is good value in my opinion. Steps into the cave are not too bad and once you go in…wow it’s just amazing. So much history down there, very interesting and they are probably some of the best caves I have ever been to. Not a long walk round but it’s what you make it. I took my time to stop and take it all in. Stunning place. Cafe up the top and fab views all around

A hidden gem on Folegandros island, And probably the best place to anchor your boat. The water is very clear and turquoise blue, and there is very nice sand on the beach. A number of small restaurants with good quality. You can come here by bus directly from the old town up on the hill. The road is very steep, but you can also walk on a hiking path, if it is not too hot.

The beach is easy accessible by the local bus or a short drive from folegandros city. The water quality is amazing and it's very clean. It is not organised so it does not have sunbeds and umbrellas. If you need shade you will need to make your own arrangements and bring your own umbrella.

Perfect beach in Folegandros. There are couple of restaurants to eat and all of them are really good and fairly priced. Beach itself is also nice, very close to Galifos by walking.

Definitely a nice beach to visit. It's probably the most popular one on the island, so you should expect more people than at the rest of the beaches. There are restaurants, tavernas and cafes right behind the beach so you can equip yourself with some water bottles or enjoy your lunch (you should try some fresh fish) after your swim.

I visited by bus from Chora.
It was a windless day and the water was clear.
The shadow of the ship is reflected on the seabed and seems to be floating in the air.
A beautiful place in Folegandros.
Kleftiko, a renowned tourist attraction in Milos and Greece, features striking white rock formations rising from the sea. Although it's not technically a beach, many boats tour the area to explore its sea caves and snorkeling spots. The crystal clear turquoise waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling amidst the dramatic mountainscapes. This popular destination draws visitors from all over seeking an unforgettable experience.
Wonderful place to swim and the water was super clean! You can see the bottom of the floor and there’s some fish, but not too many. We really enjoyed this swimming spot and going through the pirate caves!
Make sure to get there early as boats and swimmers start to make the place busy!

Incredible place. Definitely worth hiring your own boat and going early. Perfect for swimming because it's so shallow, clear and protected.
By about 10-11, there were big tour boats coming in and asking the other boats to move out of their way. We left after that to another beach.
Before the big boats came in, the cove was one of the best places we've been to on Milos.

Undoubtedly, this is the place to be on Milos Island. Everybody goes there. We had the privilege of spending a night there on our own boat, anchored in front of one of the caves that drop from the dramatic mountains. Although the obvious popular choice is to go on a boat to the bay, the hike is as good if not better of a choice. At just over a mile, the walk down gives you amazing views of the rocks and water. The bay itself is beyond beautiful and swimming through the arches is one of the coolest experiences you can ever experience. You must go here if you are on Milos.

Beach only accessible by boat. Beautiful. Color of the water is great, transparent, can see the ground. Well worth it. Water is cold (May) but worth a dip. Stayed in area to the side of main beach with less boats, it can get pretty crowded. Bring some food and drinks and chill 👍 would go back

Great place for snorkeling, but you need to be careful, when there are too many tourist boats around.

Sarakiniko Beach on the island of Milos is a stunning natural wonder with its moonlike white landscape, clear waters, and unique rock formations. The smooth white rocks create a narrow inlet with a small beach at the end, perfect for safe swimming and snorkeling. Nearby, the remains of a shipwreck offer another great spot for snorkeling. The surrounding white volcanic rock has been shaped by wind over time, creating fjord-like crags with pools and caves to explore.
This is one of the craziest places in earth, such an amazing beach, but little to no sand at all. The smooth white rocks make you feel like you're on the moon, and the heat will make you want to jump from the cliffs into the water below. Which is what most people do, into the deep blue water from various heights. There are many places to casually walk into the water and a few shallow inlets to sit down and relax in the water. Best beach on Milos.

Most amazing beach! A lot of the reason why people visit Milos, gets very crowded peak season, if you wanna beats the crowds best to get there early in the morning, great place for cliff jumping too. Never been to such an amazing beach, there are also boat tours that include this spot but it’s easy enough to drive down and take a dip or a cliff jump, I did see some dogs there too but I wouldn’t recommend it might be too hot for their little paws.

Absolutely loved this place! The scenery was breathtaking, felt like walking on the moon. It was packed but once you get past that and just enjoy the scenery and swimming, it’s awesome. Loved cliff jumping in to the water in 40 degrees heat. Had the best time. Definitely recommend coming here!

Unique landscape created by volcanic irruptions thousands of years ago; definitely worth visiting for the experience and the amazing pictures you’ll be able to take. From a beach point of view, don’t be disappointed when you realize that this is a small beach, that gets very busy ! Not great from a swimming point of view, but still top on the to do list. I’d also advise against visiting with children as it can be dangerous, if not taking precautions ( slippery rocks, hard to access and rocky beach ).

It's called the moon beach, because of the smooth like floor. Its good for romantic pictures, a small accessible beach for kids, and cliff jumping for adventurous people like me 😃. There is a lot of things to do there so try to spend not less than 2 hours there. A must go beach when you are in Milos.

Super packed with tourists but super cool to see. It is a long walk down and long walk back up but worth it. Some slippery areas of loose rock when walking around and wet rocks when getting into the water so be careful. Had a blast cliff jumping to if you are into that. Easy swims back out.
Bill Sering — Google review
This beach is so pretty, the photos do not disappoint and as others have said it’s not super crowded for sunset. The water on the day we went was too harsh to do any cliff jumping but otherwise lovely moon-like beach with interesting areas like caves and just all the other hilly spots for pics. Dusk or dawn would be perfect for golden hour photos

I highly recommend driving there in the morning between 6 and 7 am (for sunrise) to get a beautiful view of the ocean and other-wordly rocky landscape. During the day I suggest you go between 9 am - 3 pm, parking can be hard to find depending on time of year. I visited in mid May and so it wasn’t too bad.

5 stars does not seem high enough for this place. It is almost like a mars or moon landscape. The water was rough when we were there so didn't swim but there is a spot to wade in. We weren't expecting all of the caves that seemed to go on and on. So much fun
Neil Packman — Google review
The only reason I gave this a 4 is because it's only worth visiting for pictures and maybe jumping off the cliff if you're into that. It's definitely mesmerizing to see the white xolour rocks and makes for a great backdrop in pictures, but other than that, that's all it is. We went at 8am and there was already a few people there. I would suggest going no later than 8 if you want nice photos without anyone in them. By 9am, the parking lot was packed (end of June).

Just be warned that it is uneven terrain so wear good shoes. It is also a decent trek and the white rocks reflect the sun so it can get very hot, so make sure you stay hydrated!! But definitely worth it!!

Also, keep on walking past the beach. The view gets better and better as you go deeper!

This wonderful spot of Milos Island consists of gray-white volcanic rock formations of many different shapes. It offers a wonderful view and makes you feel like you are walking on the moon. There is a small beach in a sea recess, under the shade of a few small trees. Since the point where you enter the sea from the beach is quite shallow, it is possible to swim by jumping from some safe rocks.
If you're going on a sunny day, take into account that the rocks are hot and there is little shade. You can go early to find a shaded area or take an umbrella with you that will protect you from the sun.

Such a magnetic looking beach, just a short drive from town. Catching sunrises here is just amazing. The hues of the sky to the moon like terrain.
This beach is appropriate for all ages, there is a shallow part that perfect for kids to play in just right where the caves are. This point is sandy or small pebble beach easy for kids sit in and play with the sand. Further down is for those whom are decent swimmers as the ledges to jump off of vary due to the tide. Of course this is a swim/jump into the water at your own risk.
The water is at least 15 ft + deep so if you jump in, be aware you swimming into the smaller cove to climb up the rock face, which can be slippery.
Overall it’s beautiful day or night. Nighttime will best during a full moon, to have its glow reflect off it terrain.
Also from when I went I did not see any restrooms.
Great views of a huge bay with a narrow entrance formed by two cliffs. This beach looks as awesome from the top as it does from right next to the water. It has fine sand, tree shade, great spots for sunbathing as well as sunbed facilities and restaurants.
All in all it might be the best beach in Sifnos.

Vathi Beach has incredible views, refreshing water, and nice sand. There are several places to get food and drink as well as sun bathing chairs. Or you can simply put down a towel. Parking is a breeze and close. Just so you are aware, nudity it allowed. That aside, the harbor/cove acts as a wind breaker of sorts for the relentless wind the Island of Sifnos experiences. So, sit and enjoy a relaxing afternoon as you soak up the sun on a beautiful Mediterranean Beach and enjoy watching the sail boats moving in and out of the harbor.

Psili Ammos, one of the most beautiful beaches in Serifos, is easily accessible and popular among visitors. The beach features fine sand that feels like a massage underfoot and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming. Despite its popularity, the area remains peaceful with two traditional tavernas offering delicious Greek cuisine. This hotel was the best hotel we ever had on the Cycladic islands. Authentic, excellent located and extrem friendly service. The warm-hearted owner family supports you with everything you need. We had a beautiful sea view room with a balcony facing the Aegean sea. Is there something more beautiful than in the morning to open the shades and look into the deep blue sea. They serve a small breakfast which you pick and enjoy on your own terrace. The rooms are very quite and guarantee and excellent sleep.
The Way We Saw It — Google review
Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the Cyclades islands and of the favourites in Serifos.
Psili Ammos means “light sand” in Greek and that’s exactly what this beach is about: the sand is extra thin and literally massages your feet.
As for the water, it’s crystal clear, you almost feel blessed to bathe in such clean and fresh waters.
On the beach operate two taverns, Manolis and Stefanakos, both with delicious traditional Greek food.
The beach is not organised and there is no bars or loud music.
Do:
- bring your face masks for snorkelling
- bring a tent, as the wind can sometimes bring the sand into your stuff
- visit the beach for sunrise if you’re the adventurous type
- combine with nearby Agios Ioannis beach, Agios Sostis beach, Lia beach
Don’t:
- litter. The wind will sweep your trash away and into the sea
- occupy huge spaces for shade. The shade provided by the trees on the beach is not unlimited

Amazing beach! We've been there twice during our stay.. amazing crystal clear waters and the tavern can provide you with food, water, coffee and drinks!

Fabulous beach. Shallow crystal waters, fine sand, natural sand, sea daffodils blooming all around. There's a taverna by the beach.
annice in wonderland — Google review
One of the best beaches in Serifos island. Crystal waters accompanied by a depth that escalates slowly, is ideal for children. Keep in mind that there is no parking spot and you need to park on the sides of the road. Also you need to go down a significant number of stairs before you reach the beach, which has lots tamarisks for shade.
PS: grab your refreshments and water before you go there.
Paralia Kolona is the most famous beach on the island, featuring a stunning double bay with a thin strip of sand leading to an offshore islet. During low season, it's a favorite spot for yachts to anchor, while in high season it can get quite crowded. Accessible by sea taxi from Merihas or via a hilly road from Apokrousi beach, this unique beach offers beautiful natural surroundings.
In the end of September, the beach was almost empty and there were not so many boats around. Be aware that there are only two trees that give shade. Directly at the beach there is a restaurant we did not visit. They play modern music all the time which can be a bit annoying. It is worth walking up the hill to the church on top. The view is great. It is possible that some sheep crossing your way.
The way to the beach was not very easy. If you drive carefully and slowly it is okay to do it with a low car. There is no asphalt on the way and there are a couple of holes in the ground.

Beautiful place, not reachable by a smaller car. Quite a narrow road up and down the mountain to get there. Once you get there, it is extremely rewarding though.
Erwin — Google review
A beautiful special beach with clear water. Unfortunately, due to the closeness of Athens, there is a lot of boats here especially on the weekends. It can get very crowded. There is more pleasant beaches on the island close to this one, so you don’t necessarily need to stay where everybody is staying.
On the north western shore there is a little side beach that has a volcanic thermal spring with clear 38° water just on the beach. It is almost hidden and you can only see it when you are walking on the beach.
Markus De — Google review
Unique beach, the natural aspects are beautiful. The beach is not ruined by sun beds as the organized part is only around the beach bar. The downside is the music from the bar can be far too loud and the wild anchorage of the boats somewhat ruins the beauty. Road there is fine only the first 20 meters are rough the rest is fine.
Gwennael Guignard — Google review
Lovely beach - thoroughly spoiled. I came here 7 years ago and, whilst the beach was busy, it was quiet and you could find space to sit and enjoy the view out to sea. Now the bar is blasting Europop that can be heard the whole length of the beach (even heard it from the church on the island). And the view… well if you enjoy looking at people on their boats then you are in for a a treat. You can’t see the sea for the yachts . Just thankful we went by moped and could leave again - if you pay for the water taxi you are stuck there for a couple of hours.

The best beach in Kythnos by far. Be prepared for a quite tricky drive, as there is a non-tarmat road leading to the actual beach. There is a coffee/snack bar which is open after mid May. The surrounding area is very picturesque. A must see place when in Kythnos :)

Must visit beach in Kythnos! Difficult to access but it’s worth the try and the visit. There is also a cozy beach bar.

This beach is clearly beautiful. Sandy and beautiful view. One clearly has to say though that is not reachable with a small car or a car you really care about. Can’t say I m happy to drive again there.

Signature beach of Kythnos and well deserved as it's a unique site , a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters.
Remember to bring a beach umbrella if you stay long, there's no natural shade

Beach Kolones in Kythnos is a hidden paradise that promises a unique and tranquil escape. The golden sands blend with the azure Aegean Sea, framed by rugged cliffs that enhance its exclusivity.
The unspoiled charm of Beach Kolones offers a serene atmosphere, a welcome break from crowded tourist spots. Snorkeling reveals vibrant marine life. Prepare with essentials and embark on an unforgettable journey to this hidden gem. The addition of Kolona Experience Bar – Restaurant is a must-visit for those seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure. It's more than a restaurant – it's a celebration of taste, art, and innovation.

Not easy to reach by car as some 200 meters are very narrow even for one car! As there were more the 60 boats and yachts the water was not clear so the swim was less 3 seconds! But this piece of stand land is amazing!
Kaloussa Nafpaktitou — Google review
The most popular beach of the island and one of the most popular of the Cyclades islands!
The strip of land is wider than it seems from the pictures!
My suggestion is to be visited at mid-day as sun brings out all the beauty of this beach.
Lots of boats and yachts at both sides of the beach
Access by regular car is possible...the most difficult part is the steep first kilometer after apokrousi beach where the road is too narrow. Lots of YouTube video to clearly check this dirt road.

A place of unreal beauty. For sailing enthusiasts, this is a great place. For many the beginning of long tours and for some safe place and excellent protection from all winds. We have been many times and every time we approach Kolona beach we feel the same charm from the beginning.

An incredible place. A narrow sandy beach between waters. Quiet and peaceful, not crowded at that moment. A must see if in Kithnos.
The Temple of Poseidon, a cultural monument built in the 5th century BCE and located at Cape Sounion, offers stunning views of the sea. The temple was constructed from marble sourced nearby and boasts gleaming white Doric-style columns. Sailors approaching this region could spot the temple's white façade from afar, indicating that they were almost home.
An absolute beautiful site. The drive is gorgeous. We visited at sunset and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There is a yummy little restaurant I Def recommend eating at. If you have the chance definitely go see.
Erica Seegrist — Google review
The Temple has a stunning view, and apart from the hugely significant historic value, there is very little too the site. There is also the €10 entrance fee, which i would not describe as value for money. There is a cafe at the site which is friendly and serves food and drinks. But nothing else within walking distance (walking is on main road anyway). I visited the Temple of Poseidon in the morning (apparently the experience is much better at sunset for the views).
mike boogaard — Google review
The views at sunset are absolutely incredible. The place is not large, maybe a 30 minute leisurely stroll around it for some photos, but it is truly a great sight.
The restaurant nearby would be a nice place to relax and eat, however it closes around when the temple does so you need to be there earlier (something our tour guide did not include).
Caoimhin Doyle — Google review
Beautiful site! Listen to the waves crash into the rocks as you explore. No better location for a temple to the god of the seas! Can get a little crowded but the place is big enough to spread out. Make sure to wander all around, not just at the temple, there's lots to see and hear. Restaurant and gift shop are also right on sight.

the coastal drive and the sunset make the visit to the Temple of Poseidon a complete package!
The cafe has a great setting.
Make sure you get through the gates 30 -45 min before sunset as they will close .

Lovely place although there is no public transportation to get there.
We ended up renting cars at the airport for 45€ each.
Its a nice place for a daily/ semi daily trip, including lunch at the nearby Taverns and a slow drive through the countryside

Awesome place to check out. Make sure to take the scenic route down. If you do not have a car I would recommend a local guide, Instead of a shuttle bus. We booked one through air bnb and it was great!
Also, a heads up, it's $10 to get it but there is also a spot that you can get a great view and pics without having to pay, if you don't feel the need to see it up close. That's where these pics were from.

This is a great touristy stop not too far from Athens. Getting photos at sunset is highly recommended. Do get there before they close because they won't let you in no matter how close to the closing time it is.

The temple has a magnificent View and hugely significant historic Value. There is an entrance of 10 euro which is value for money. There is also a Cafe at the beginning which is friendly, clean and services food and drinks. The best time for visiting is Sunset according to my experience. Great View! Great history!

Stunning, a little busy but we went in October and it was possible to get photos without dozens of people in the foreground.
We bought tickets at the site, they preferred cash for speed as the card machine was a little slow. Queue to get in was a little long but only took ten minutes or so to get to the front.

Must visit if you have the time when staying in Athens! I guess about 40 minutes out of town if no traffic. Not really any crowds, it's easy/fun to walk around and enjoy. Stunning perch looking out over at the sea and the structure is really amazing condition. We also had a delicious lunch down the hill where you could look up and enjoy.

Well worth the visit!
Nice coffee too at the Cafe.

Can definitely recommend visiting this place by rental car. Nice ride next to the shore for 1-1,5 hour from Athens.
All in all it is just some pilar remains of the Temple of Poseidon and some stone remains of houses and the harbour that used to be there.
Cafe and toilet is also close by.

Stunning views from the top! A must visit if you’re in Greece
It is about an hour or so drive from Athens. The tickets for the site cost around 5 or 10EUR (depends on if you are a student etc.,)
Try and watch the sunset from here, it looks magnificent!

Incredible to experience at sunset. Not only is it beautiful but the ruins are in very good condition. The views around the temple are fantastic! There is a cafe and small shop located just down so you can stop and take in the views. I recommend doing a tour to really appreciate the history behind it!
Hannah Joy — Google review
The trip from Athens to the temple is about an hour and a half car ride. The trip itself is on winding, beautiful, sea side roads. So, the trip itself is lovely. The temple of Poseidon is not as popular as the Acropolis, so you will basically have it to yourself. The views from the top of the hill are stunning. It’s worth the drive to see the view and to get photos that you’ll never forget.

Temple was amazing the went to was rubbish would sold that. Bus tour was no good. Because of protests we had to catch a train and then walk 5ks to catch the bus at the apocalypse it were basically having to run everywhere and then was told to hurry up because we're late. And on the evening tour we only had an hour and 20 minutes at the site so not enough time to see anything
They made it sound like you went too two adventures, but it was only one we had to pay again when we got there be careful of the fine print and then the bus was late getting back and we missed our dinner reservation because of traffic which they should have allowed for was told to hurry up and start running by the Young tour guide and I'm a man In my 50s I asked about a toilet was you told I should have gone before I got there! how rude and on the audio tour she questioned us on the way home like a bunch of five-year-olds my advice is make your own way there and you'll love it.

I highly recommend the temple of Poseidon. It is a beautiful and amazing site. The ruins still have some pillars standing and they are beautiful. The location is also great as you can easily spot it from afar.
You will need to pay the ticket to the archeological site.
There are toilets nearby as well as a restaurant.
The temple of Athena is also nearby.

We visited the Temple just before sunset so that we could watch the sun go down over the Agean and islands. This was a truly magical experience with the sky turning from colour to colour and becoming ever more beautiful as the sun descended. The temple itself is a wonder to see, both on a approach and when close up. It gets busy here but there is plenty of space to spread out on the cliff side with quite a few benches to be found for a good view of the sunset. It is obvious why the ancients decided to build here - it's one of those places you'll never forget.
Do yourself a favour and book a taxi excursion which are very affordable and similarly priced to the coach tours. We did and were grateful as we drove away whilst everyone else was queuing for coaches.

Beautiful place. We did not spend much time there as there is not much to see besides the temple itself and nice scenery. You can walk around there though. The drive to Athens to here was beautiful, the nature is absolutely gorgeous

We visited in October and glad that we had time to drive from Rafina. The drive was around 1 hour. The entrance fee was €10. The temple is magnificent both from afar and when we went closer. The view of the surrounding area was breath taking. We took our time walking around and taking photos. There is a cafe and museum on site. We went to visit the beaches outside the ruins after our visit.

One of the most beautiful places to enjoy a sunset in Greece, if not the whole of Europe!
The site closes permanently for the day right after the sunset, last possible entry being around 30 minutes before the sun sets itself.
Coming in march, all the flowers around were blooming and all the colors were adding a lot to the beauty of the place.
Although not perfectly preserved the Temple of Poseidon is really beautiful even in the state it is in.
Keep in mind that the sunset here draws a lot of tourists, including busses and private tours, so at times it can get a little busy, still not crowded and manageable.
There are on site free toilets and a restaurant with a souvenir shop, the prices being a bit high considering the touristic location.
Definitely a must see while around the Athens area!

We took the coastal drive from athens. The drive and the views were amazing. Parking could be a bit of a problem here, so plan ahead. The climb to the site and the views were amazing. When there, explore the area around the sea shore. There is a nice restaurant at the site as well.

Fascinating history and a beautiful temple. The surrounding coastal region is gorgeous. I recommend visiting right before sunset so you can watch the sun go down just beyond the islands.
Flanked by lush greenery, this quaint beach features a small sandy beach & clear turquoise waters.
It's a lovely place. The water is perfectly clear and while snorkelling you can observe many different fishes. There's a lot of natural shade from the trees - it's definitely the most beautiful beach on Poros. Shower, changing room, clean toilets: Best facilities we've had at a beach.
But it's crowded: We were there in June and had to be there early (before 11am) to get the last free set of sunbeds - price was 12€ per set which is normal on Poros. There's not much space to sit without one, so in the end you will probably have to pay to use this beach. Service staff is friendly, although we didn't eat or drink something.

Nice little beach with catch name. The waters look nice from above, but when you get in, you'll realize they are pretty muddy. OK for 1 time but it wouldn't be my favorite beach. The beach bar offer some sunbeds but at full season it's very very crowded.

It was my long walk on New Year's day, came all the way from the port that's downtown Poros & it was absolutely stunning! No wonder it's crowded in the summer, there were others enjoing a little picnic on the same day, such a quiet lovely place with crystal clear waters, looking forward to visiting again in the summer!

It is a petite cute beach that is excellent for quiet relaxing time. The bay is surrounded by deep vegetation which ensured its privacy. That is how the name came. It is very popular with couples or even people who prefers quiet calm environment. The water is sea green, clear. The sand is a little red to brown but sandy. The bay water is also calm enough, making it a perfect place for holidays and romantic outings. A narrow road surrounds the bay, but there is not much traffic in it. The bay has shower and drinking facilities.

One of the most idyllic beaches in Poros. You can get coffee and sunbeds and enjoy the view. Unfortunately on the day we visited the waves had brought some sort of industrial foam probably from the many yachts that roam on the waters. The sea did still look clean but we did not risk going in. It could have been a single event who knows but the locals told us that the sea is not that clean there due to its geographical location and the yacht season. Still a must see though.

A very good beach, if you're into beach bars that is. It's surrounded by beautiful nature and has plenty of shade even at noon. However the sunbeds occupy most of the space and there is little space for those who wish to sit on their own.

❤ The best little beach on Poros ❤
A short hop and jump from Poros town ( 3.3 km ) you'll find Love Bay. It's a small and very cosy beach that will help you unwind and calm down from the every day hustle and bustle.
Here you will find a few hundered sunbeds with umbrellas, a changing room, his and hers toilets and a fully stocked bar serving sandwiches, soft drinks, ice creams, beers and drinks . And did I mention the very friendly staff 👍👍👍
The bay itself deserves 5 stars. The water is bright green and blue and really fresh. And they play soothing music from the loudspeakers to help you relax🎶
Whats not to love about this place❤❤❤

A very nice and cozy small beach with nice waters. A small canteen offers coffee etc and there is plenty of shadow from the trees. One of the best beaches of the island.
The ruined Doric temple, constructed around 5th-century BC, was dedicated to the Ancient goddess Aphaia. The remarkably preserved remains of this temple are located on a hill covered in pine trees providing an extensive view of the Saronic Gulf. The structure was built in honor of a local deity from a pre-Hellenic era and featured magnificent sculptures depicting the Trojan War on its pediments.
I never get tired of visiting the Temple of Aphaia, one of Aegina island's must see unique attraction that is situated on a hill ... with beautiful views & lots of pine trees ... about 15 km from the islands capital. 👍😊
Since prehistoric times ( 1300 B.C.) it's been a place of worship ... a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Aphaia.😍
Next to the temple there is a small archeological museum, the Museum of Aphaia, where parts of the temple are on display. Across from the Temple you will see a simple cafeteria where I've enjoyed some beverages ... that was nice: especially if you are visiting on a hot summer day!

Must visit. Not very crowded, it’s a very well preserved temple, one of the most important ones in this part of Greece too. They had both the Parthenon and Sounion in sight so those three temples used to communicate with each other visually, even though they are dozens of km from each other!
Also - visit the cafe for a coffee - they serve a surprisingly good one and the view is stunning!

This monument is well preserved and maintained. It’s hard to believe that this temple was from 500 BC.
Most of its pillars, structures, inner and outer features are still standing.
There’s a shop and cafe close to archeological site you can buy drinks, light finger foods and souvenirs there.
The shopping mini complex also has a restroom open to everyone.

This temple is pretty well preserved on the Greek island of Aegina. Or at least as much as anything can be at 2000+ years old. The temple is at the top of a mountain, surrounded by a fence and normally cost 6 eu to enter, but ous was already covered. Anyway you can see some real dedication with people quarrying these enormous stones and then of course dragging them up to the top of the highest mountain around. Anyway it's a beautiful site.

The Acropolis Museum is a new glass and steel building housing ancient artifacts from the Acropolis archaeological site. The museum is divided into three levels, with a chronological trip through the centuries beginning on the ground floor with findings from the hills archaic period.
Fantastic museum, i guess it is among the top sights in Athens! I attached lots of photos as the exhibition is just so amazing! So bright inside, loveable atmosphere, loads of history and arts! Ticket costs only €5 in the winter time. They have a cafe inside with the most amazing view over the Acropolis hill. People are very kind here!
Mesmerizing spot ♥️

This place amazed me! Building a modern building architecture over historical attraction. In this I mean, they built building over the ancient bath, that is accessible on Ground floor outside. The amount of history and knowledge given by this place,we did not have an audio guided tour and it was still great.
The museum is fairly large it would take a couple of hour to walk through it all! So go early!
The layout of the museum we're very well thought and designed.
The view, in which ever side or whatever level is only an addition the museum great knowledge.
Whether you do this first before or after the Acropolis, it would be great information to then consolidate your knowledge about the Acropolis.

Very well put together and definitely a must see, after seeing the video presentations the museum has, you feel the only thing that would make this better is if England gave back the Elgin Marbles. I’ve seen them in London, but I feel they would have much stronger meaning if they were in Athens. When you go, definitely visit the dig site under the museum, to say this museum was well thought out is an understatement.

Can easily spend an entire day in the museum. Lots of historical items to see. The book shop sells books in multiple languages. On one of the floors, there is a cafe/restaurant if you need to take a break or when you bring along children to the museum. Purchase the ticket(s) on the museum's website in advance, and you will be able to enter the museum once you've arrived.

It's a very nice museum although a bit confusing. In some cases, it's not possible to take pictures no matter if you have maybe travelled thousands of miles to be there, obviously, I couldn't follow. There is a nice bar on the top floor with a great view of the Parthenon. I suggest purchasing the audio guide else you will not understand what you are looking at.

A beautiful modern museum, full of history and with a great atmosphere. The exhibits are priceless, of course, and the way they are presented is fabulous, giving immediately the feel of how/why/where they were situated in antiquity. The number one feature of this museum is the location and the 360º view around it. It is located under the Acropolis and the big windows are giving a nice view of the surrounding centre of Athens city. The restaurant on the balcony is of very high culinary standards and the view is superb. A "must go" place if you visit Athens.

Wonderful museum. All the ancient treasure but with a modern architecture design. Love the underground ruins. Bookstore is great! Recommend to come early (morning - before lunch time) or later in the afternoon to avoid large groups. Strongly recommend to book tickets online prior to visit.

The Acropolis Museum is my all-time favorite museum. It’s down from the Acropolis and the museum’s glass walls provide stunning views.
You can purchase tickets ahead of time to avoid the line—or even purchase them on your phone while you’re standing in line.
Both outside floors and some of the first floor inside are glass and you can see a dig below. There are four floors. A reading room. An outdoor cafe overlooking the Acropolis. And two gift shops.
The museum captures the airy feel of the Acropolis itself and it’s best viewed when it’s not terribly crowded. I go every year I’m in Athens to visit my favorite displays. Be sure to look up outside the entrance/exit doors to see the statue of Athena as an owl. It’s on top of a metal pole outside.
Beware of aggressive pigeons if you sit outside at the cafe—but dealing with them is absolutely worth it for the view. Also, keep track of your ticket because you’ll likely be asked to produce it again when you leave the cafe.

A must visit in Athens! I’d say, even for people not visiting museums on a regular it is worth to visit this museum!
There is a big area underneath the building itself, which you can have a look at for free.
The single ticket for the museum itself is 15 Euros.
There are 3 floors full of old ancient tools, vases, figures, statues, parts of pillars. It’s an amazing collection of antique parts they’ve found and reconstructed.
It’s also worth mentioning they’ve set all the parts in the same way the old Parthenon is constructed. So on the top floor you will find all the parts from the roof of the Parthenon. This was stunning, to see how wide the roof was and how big the parts and monuments were.
We visited the museum on a Friday late afternoon around 5pm (open until 10pm on Fridays), there was no waiting line on the ticket booth. But we saw lot of people waiting in a long queue on Sunday early afternoon, be aware of that!
We had a look at a lot of things and it took us around 2 hours for it.

This place is amazing. We did arrive at the end of the day and they were closing, but this is incredible. The mere fact that they build the museum on top of an archeological site that you can see through a glass floor is amazing and a must see.
You will have to drop your bag at the entry though.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Acropolis museum. Lots to see, admire, and be in awe of. Great views of the Acropolis hill and Parthenon. The well preserved underground ruins were the highlight of my visit. Great place for the whole family.

The new museum is very beautiful and it has a nice panorama terrace with view to the Acropolis!
If you visit, you should have at least 2 hours but you can take half a day here if you look everything carefully.

Beautiful museum! The layout was incredibly beautiful and you could see the ruins underneath the museum. Bring your own headphones and scan the code to get information about the different displays- we forgot ours! The plaque display is oddly placed so on some pieces you have to kneel down to the floor to read what it says.
Aimee Moore — Google review
The architecture of this museum itself is so stunning. The entrance area slopes upward while you view the history and artifacts of the Acropolis’ “slopes” and the whole area has this dot pattern design resembling the foundational columns of the most important buildings.
Then there’s the top floor, which feels like it was made to be a replica of the Parthenon but with modern materials - it has the same number of columns all around (but in steel) and all the archaeological displays are arranged around the main area in the same spots that they were on in the Parthenon. The whole top floor is even aligned to be directionally parallel to the Parthenon. You even get a great view of the real Parthenon from the top floor.
Overall lots of excellent historical pieces with a detailed description of the Acropolis’ history through time. The original Caryatids (from the Erechtheion) are preserved here, and if you’re lucky you might even catch them restoring one with a light pulse technique that was invented in Athens.
All plaques have English translations, so it’s very tourist friendly. There is also a super cool Lego rendition of the Acropolis on the second floor! I would say this is best visited after you’ve been to the real Acropolis, because you will appreciate the history and details a lot more once you’ve seen the real thing.

Fantastic amazing modern architecture absolutely loved the museum which was placed protectively above the ancient ruins below. Lunch was gorgeous sitting on the cantilevered canopy above the entrance and below the Acropolis. The artifacts enclosed are beautifully and imaginatively displayed. Definitely worth a visit when in Athens. Awesome!

Highly recommend this place to visit in Athens! The museum is designed to be visitor friendly and in modern style. The statues were vivid and many of them are with color, and reveals lots of interesting and surprising facts. I did not expect Athena is with red hair since her impression in my mind is simply made of marbles and in white. Besides the exhibitions, there is a fabulous rooftop bar on the second or third floor, on which you can have a good view of the Acropolis! Besides, the gift shop can be a good shopping place. The small statues, clothe handbags and the dictionaries are made delicately!

Great Museum.
I really enjoyed the visit, some information: you are not able to eat or drink while walking around but you can eat or order something at the restaurant on the 3d floor.
The museum was very interesting and i would recommend visiting the acropolis, before going here because it helps you imagine what it would have looked like thousands of years ago.
There is a cloak room just before the start of the museum so you can put your bags or coats there if you do not want to carry them around while walking.
Great Museum and would definitely recommend.

This was an amazing experience! Many audio guides will just read the plaques in front of the artifacts so make sure to find more in-depth ones if that’s more your style. Be sure to check the excavation area under the museum and watch the video at the end of the path, it was very information and amazing to see how they did all they did for the museum!

Nice modern museum on top of ancient ruins. Next to acropolis rock , 1 minute from metro station. 10-15€ entrance depending the month you will visit .it has 2 stages and one under the building. All floors have glass to step so you see underneath. Everything has a description and they have audio description too .it's easy to walk . At the second floor they have a huge cafeteria bistro that you can enjoy your coffee looking at Parthenon and lykovitos hill .

Beautiful experience.
If you have been to the Acropolis, I highly recommend visiting the museum as well. It’s just as spectacular as the Acropolis itself.
Tips : if you are below 25 and from Europe, you can get free entrance - you just have to show a document proving that (i used my passport). I really appreciate that they do that - I think it’s encouraging youth to visit more cultural attractions.
As I said, amazing. The place speaks for itself. Beautiful and interesting. Even if I had to pay, I would have gone. It’s a must.

An excellent museum displaying finds from the Acropolis. It's located in a modern building not far from the acropolis itself. The tickets are affordable and the collection is excellent. As usual with these kinds of places there are massive lines at the entrance so it's wise to arrive early.

We had our own tour guide of the museum and Parthenon. Went at 0800. Crowds were large by the time we left around 1100. Museum was a great display of the changes over the centuries, plus showed what statues and parts taken by England in early 1800s (and still have).

I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude for the exceptional service I experienced at Acropolis museum.
Recently, I accidentally purchased duplicate entry tickets for a visit to your museum. Upon realizing my mistake, I reached out to your team, and I was genuinely impressed by the prompt and professional manner in which the matter was handled. Not only did you swiftly address my concern, but now also graciously arranged to refund me for the extra tickets without any hassle.
This level of customer care truly exceeded my expectations, and I want to express my sincere appreciation for your dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction. It's evident that your team takes great pride in providing a positive experience for visitors, and I am incredibly grateful for that.
Moreover, I wish to commend your museum for its commitment to excellence and innovation in preserving and showcasing cultural heritage. Your contributions to the arts and education are invaluable, and I have no doubt that you will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of many in the years to come.
Once again, thank you for your outstanding service and for creating memorable experiences for visitors like myself. I look forward to future visits and witnessing the continued success and growth of your esteemed institution.

Awesome museum full of ancient (BC) artifacts all found locally! Very close to the Acropolis and a short walk to shopping and restaurants. This is a 'can't miss' visit but be forewarned - get here early because the line to get in gets very long very quickly. To make this visit even sweeter is the fact that directly under the museum is a live excavation site that you can wander in!

Must see attraction when coming to Athens. The museum itself is spectacular. Minimal wait time to enter (less than 10 minutes), staff were very helpful. It cost €10 for a single ticket on a weekday, which allowed you to view the entirety of the museum. The exhibits were stunning, and the cafe and views of the city were also stunning from the second floor.
There was additionally a special limited attraction on the ground floor, which is only accessible by paying a secondary charge of €10. Overall, great place and would love to visit again.

The new Acropolis Museum is well worth a stop while touring through Athens, Greece. The modern architecture enhances the many exhibits and artifacts. A walk through the museum sheds light on ancient Athenian life. The views of the Acropolis and the surrounding area add to the experience. Highly recommended.

A great experience.
The third floor dedicated to Parthenon was the best part. Save your energy for that part
The free audio guide was nice, but it will take you hours to listen to every stop. You will need to bring your own headphones.
Don't forget to visit the excavation under the building!

The museum is truly amazing. I had a one of a kind experience touring around. Everything is in several languages so understanding what each piece is was very simple. The layout is super fluid and the staff is very pleasant. Admission is on the cheaper side (not including a tour) and I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by the price of admission. I almost went back a second day because of how many things there are to read and look at. 10/10 experience.

Surely one of the world’s best museums. Even though it’s €10 entry, it is great value. I spent 4 hours here, it was so fascinating. You can learn a lot here. The objects are very well looked after and the space itself is quite beautiful.
The staff are bullies though, a little bit. I think perhaps they know they are in a truly incredible place and get too excited about that.
There is a bonus archaeological excavation under the building as part of the ticket.
Don’t forget to take a photo of the Acropolis outside the restaurant on the second floor.
Plaka, a charming hillside neighborhood located at the base of the Acropolis in Athens, has a quaint village atmosphere with narrow cobblestone streets lined with small shops selling jewelry, clothing and ceramics. The area is dotted with sidewalk cafes and family-owned tavernas that stay open until late in the evening. Visitors can enjoy classic movies screened al fresco at Cine Paris or take in the Greek-island vibe of nearby Anafiotika's whitewashed homes.

I'll never travel to Thessaloniki without this trip planner again
The Parthenon is an Ancient Greek temple on the Acropolis in Athens. After being built between 447BCE and 432BCE, it was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The temple has been subjected to fires, pirate sackings and military sieges but still stands today.
Absolutely amazing to see this structure still around ! Plenty of areas to take quality pictures! The maintenance is amazing. If you have children remember no strollers are allowed to be prepared to climb the stairs with them !

Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Construction began in 447 BC, when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of it's power. It was completed in in 438 BC, although the decoration continued till 432 BC. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The temple is generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural orders. Since 2007 the Greek Ministry of Culture is carrying out a selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure. It is better to book the tickets online otherwise be prepared to stand in a long queue for minimum half an hour with no shelter above your head. It is better to visit after 5 PM when cruise and tour traffic is over. The view from the top is stunning. A good walking shoe is must and avoid high heels and don't forget it is a steep walk but doable with reasonable fitness. The lift is available for needy people and on the top it is mostly flat. Parthenon is THE place which can't be missed in Athens...

It is a place of tremendous beauty and history, all rolled into one, it is without doubt a magnificent achievement and seeing the stones in reality, certainly steeps you into their past lives and tragedy. There is a fair amount of uphill walking and little in terms of reading material. Staff quite aggressive when one accidentally walks to a restricted pet, which happens to be unmarked

Completely stunning. I'd highly recommend going early in the day, the wait will be shorter and in summer there is no shade so cooler for walking.
There is a lift if you need more accessibility, but wheelchair users may struggle.

Very pretty. It's currently under renovation on one side, but everywhere is fine and great for photos.
Marble floors are quite slippery, so I'd advise (especially if travelling with kids) to avoid during rainy days.

It was very warm- which meant it wasn’t crowded. Don’t go behind the ropes, don’t touch allow the world to enjoy this historic site up close and personal. Even with scaffolding in areas the Parthenon was very accesible visually.

Went back to the Motherland in July (the same week as the heat wave). Didn’t matter had a superb time even with the crowds.
FYI - water is super expressive inside the Parthenon so bring your own or pay up.
It is amazing what the Athenians were able to build and being able to walk around and absorb the ancient history is truly inspiring.
I was able to get some early morning photos which added to the beauty.
I did not buy tickets in advance and I think it only set me back 15 minutes.
FYI - If you are a student or you are traveling with kids bring your kid’s passport to get the student discount. This is to show the age. No negotiation whatsoever. My son is 16 and had his student ID. Didn’t matter, no passport, no discount. So, I had to pay the full price for him.

Path to top is rather difficult, and a certain level of fitness is required

This is my second visit in the last 10 years. The wow factor is gone, but the sight remains overwhelming. Not suitable for wheelchair and people having difficulty climbing stairs, as there are some steeper slopes and about 90 steps. The best time to go is in spring and fall, and summer temperature could be hot on all the stone and rock surfaces. If you join a tour group that purchased tickets in advance, the wait is above 30 minutes. On your own wait time could be 1-2 hours.

Beautiful archeological site. Graffiti isn’t as bad as with the rest of Athens and no smell of urine. Humans have left their mark however. That said, the acropolis is beautiful. Let’s face it, you have to go. There are throngs of people of course, so if you want cool pictures, go super early or be tall like me and you can cut out most of them.

There are no words to review this place. Parthenon is a wonder of our human culture. Built on Acropolis hill, this building is a temple and was used as a mosque and a church under various rulers of Athens. Now, the reconstruction work is going on and the added sculptures are almost 100% ruined but the structure still stands. Visiting Acropolis Museum surely clears the structural idea of the Parthenon.

Breathtakingly beautiful piece of history and architecture. I’d recommend going early in the morning, first thing when the acropolis opens, as it can get very busy and crowded later on during the day. I downloaded the audio guide which was quite good and as I’m a slow reader it helped.
Lots to look at apart from the Panthenon too. Beautiful views over Athens on the terrace/ balcony/ platform.
A must visit !
The Acropolis of Athens is the most important and iconic monument in Greece, and one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. It is a sacred site dedicated to Athena, and it is where many historic events have taken place including the fall of the Athenian Empire to Sparta in 404 B.C., as well as battles between Athenians and Persians.
Obviously a historic landmark and must see....beautiful part of history with incredible views of Athens ad surrounding coast line.
With any historic landmarks there were unfortunately preservation efforts taking place with equipment and scaffolding which slightly takes away
However there are still plenty photo worthy spots

Buy the combined ticket online. You then just scan or show it at the entrance. Highly recommended! I didn't wait at all..
As for the Acropolis - it's definitely worth it, most impressive and interesting structure, however not my favourite of the top sites. It is great, no doubt, but the crowd is unimaginable, thus you can't really enjoy peaceful exploration. The top site can be explored in about an hour, HOWEVER (!!) be careful not to exit prematurely or you'll have to buy another ticket, depending on where you enter from. There are two entrances: on the top, and from the main street in front of the big glass museum. You should take the lower entrance and ask how to make your way up. I took the upper one, explored the Acropolis, exited, and was not allowed to go in from the other way. And I didn't see a way down through the Acropolis, but... oh well. The view is also good, the structure is in reconstruction, so the best thing about this part were the few statues.

Truly just a breathe taking experience! Healthy walk with beautiful vegetation all around. Spectacular views! - you can pretty much see all of Athens just stretching out in every direction around you. This place really just left me feeling full of wonderment looking at the beauty and craftsmanship of the marble columns! I could have spent hours up there just relaxing and taking in the views of Athens. Give yourself a minimum of 1+ hours to wonder about, this is not an experience you want to rush through.

Wonderful place to visit! Truly remarkable and full of history and background for great photos. Great views of the city.
To avoid crowds go earlier around 8am. Later it gets crowded and hotter. Went 3pm and it was busy in some areas and difficult to get pictures without strangers.
Buy tickets in advance to avoid longer queues.
Timed entry best to arrive at the scheduled time to avoid having to wait by the entrance.
Walk area is very nice and quiet.
Loads to see so plan to stay roughly 2hrs even more if want to seat around and marvel at the architecture grandiose around.
Kids might get bored as there is nothing interesting for them.
Enough supply of people looking to have the best instagram photo so be patient.

Recommend going early to beat the crowds. It’s a lot of walking and can take up to an hour if you soak it all in. Wear comfy shoes with a decent tread. It can get slippery on some of the smoother stones. I recommend seeing the museum FIRST to learn about it, then visit it in person. Great view!

Certainly busier to visit than it was last time I was here 7 years ago. Maybe due to tourist numbers, maybe due to certain changes hurding visitors around like cattle now, maybe due to the extra roping off of areas and walkways giving less freedom to explore. Whichever it is, definitely get tickets in advance....you'll queue longer for those than actually getting in.
Other than that, still a fantastic monument to visit with breath taking views once your at the summit....

I bought my tickets online, adding the audioguide in my home language and it was a fantastic experience, there are so many things to know and if you don't invest a few euros you miss 90% and you will end up just watching carved stones. I suggest joining the first schedule at 8:00 am because very soon the place gets packed and you cannot enjoy or take good pictures.

Amazing site with such a great history and beautiful views of the city.
It definitely worths dedicating some time to visit the place, see the Parthenon and learn about its history through the years.
Tip: Free entrance every first Sunday of the month.

Although it was extremely windy when I visited, the views and being at a site where so much important history took place was well worth the effort. Hold on to the handrails if you need to, but if you’re in Athens, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this majestic place!

Beautiful monument. Incredibly busy, very hot and lots of stairs with smooth marble. None the less you can get great pictures and stunning views of Athens. Go early. The temperature at acropolis is higher than the city temp

Can't say much except that this place was absolutely amazing. I lived every minute of it. The crowds were huge but that did not curve my interest or excitement one bit. Pack some water and maybe some sun block it's hot with pretty much no shade. Put your good traction shoes on as some of the steps can be very slippery even when dry.

Amazing experience. Well worth the visit. Busy day, but despite the amount of people here the crowds were managed very well. No problems taking photos. If you have luggage there is a free cloakroom to store bags.

Amazing history and architecture, the best time to visit is first thing in the morning or at sunset, but definitely check the closing times so you allow enough time at the top before they start ushering people out. Avoid the middle of the day when many cruise ships come in with tour buses.

Just three words describes this beautifully amazing place.... SIMPLY AMAZINGLY LEGENDARY. The most iconic ancient ruins of the world of all time, with all due respect!!!
A must visit in once lifetime, if possible. LEGENDARY... AWESOME... CLASSIC.. UNIQUE... EXCEPTIONAL...

A MUST go to place while exploring Athens. Highly recommend going in January like I did, the weather was great and there was wayy less people. Also make sure to get there as early in the day as possible!

Absolutely Amazing!!! This is the perfect time to visit as it wasn't crazy crowded. Weather was perfect with a slight breeze to ease the walk up. Recommend that you go out on the stadium side, more walking and it will bring you out in town near the museum. But you will have additional views and sights as you go down. All missed when exiting through the main entrance.

Great archeological site to visit. To avoid heavy crowds, we started early in the morning at 8 am. Always a good idea to have a licensed tourist guide so that you do not miss out the important details.

Not as bad of a walk as I thought to the top. Our guide stopped to talk frequently so you could rest. It was an Amazing place! Do not miss it!! I was in awe! There is an elevator for the truly handicapped to reserve in advance I think. I will remember this trip the rest of my life!

Fantastic, incredible history. More than a lot of places, it benefits from joining a good walking tour or listening to some Athens history podcasts first however. I can't even get into how many firsts seem to have happened here.

Make sure to reserve ahead online tickets to save the wait in the very long line to the tickets office.
The entry line was short and quick.
We enjoyed walking up the hill and the view at the top 360° is amazing. We were lucky to have a very bright weather with view to far ahead in all directions.
Some of the roads to the top can be crowded but mostly we felt there is enough room.
Make sure to equip with hat and water as there isn't too much shade there.

You feel the history when walking around the Acropolis. There are concrete walking paths so anyone can get around safely. There is also an elevator for easy wheelchair accessibility.
The National Archaeological Museum is a large museum dedicated to the archaeological remains of Ancient Greece. The museum houses a vast array of artefacts from throughout the country's history, from the Neolithic and Mycenaean periods all the way to Late Antiquity. With permanent exhibitions spanning thousands of years, it's one of Europe's most popular museums and a must-see in Athens.
This is, by far, the best museum I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. It has an impressive entrance, it's the perfect size she the top floor is staggering. The juxtaposition of the Parthenon on the hill while you look at the marbles is one I'll never forget. It's very clear, standing in front of the gaps in the museum, that the marbles should be in Athens, not London. Make sure you have a Greek coffee at the museum, it's sublime.

We quite enjoyed our stay here. We came as a family and already had our tickets booked. We also had an audio tour guide booked trough get your Guide. That worked quite good and we were able to spent a nice afternoon looking at the expositions.
The museum is quite big and is lovely organized. The small garden was quite lovely as well.

One of the best museums i’ve ever visited! A must see for those who love archeology, ancient greek and/or art. Such and impressive collection of mainly statues! This museum offers you a trip trough the history of Greece, having pieces from every time period. It really shows the progression of art trough the ages and how the Greeks ended up with their iconic style. When in Athens make sure to visit!

I paid 6€ off peak (winter) to visit. Rich history, just a pity that there is no audio guide yet. But there is sufficient written info to not be completely lost. The cafe in front of the museum is a lovely place too :)

A good, simple archaeology museum in the centre of Athens. The layout is straightforward to navigate. The descriptions to the exhibits are well-written in English and Greek. There is also historical information about the different eras, which was very helpful for better insight into the Hellenic culture.
Aleksejs Ivashuk — Google review
Definitely worth visiting to see the pieces from across the region from various points in its vast history. Descriptions in English for almost every piece being exhibited. During our visit, several rooms were roped off and unavailable, although exhibits appeared to be in them. Easily reached by public transit or the multiple hop-on, hop-off buses. Admission fee not included in Athens multi-pass.

Wow!
We went on a rainy day with my family who was visiting Athens.
I honestly loved it. I think I will go back. Tickets are free if you are under 24(or 25/26 can't remember)
I enjoyed staying there, they actually have a great variety of statues and even a greater collection of gold objects.
It is all amazingly organized and they even have an egyptian collection too.
I am literally amazed! This is one of the best museums i have ever Visited. I Visited quite a few especially when I went to London in Uk.
Great! Very great!

Wow. If there is one thing to do in Athens besides visiting the Acropolis, it is this museum. This is filled with tons of rare artifacts and knowledge about the entire history of Greece. You can see beautiful statues starting from Ancient Greek all the way up to the Roman period. They have an incredible display of items that easily should take you several hours to review in full. I also highly suggest going to their cafe at the end for some excellent coffee.

This was a great museum. The flow was amazing. It casually directed you through the entire museum with arrows on the ground.
The staff here is incredibly helpful and ready to answer questions to their ability. I would recommend going on your own without a guide because the group sizes were very large and seemed to take away from the amazing pieces of history.
I'd highly recommend visiting this museum and stopping by the cafe downstairs. It has a lovely atmosphere and some historical artifacts within it.

Interesting museum with lots of cool artifacts and iconic statues! Bag was taken and held at the free coat check but we could keep water with us (definitely bring water). Bring your passport or other ID if travelling with teens - may qualify for a cheaper price if you can prove they’re below 18! Only down side was that many areas were restricted to tours only.

Pretty epic start. The first two halls are jam-packed with fascinating artifacts and information.
Perhaps it was a mistake to go in the morning as I was constantly surrounded, bumped and blocked by blobs, herds and objectionable mobs of guide-led tour groups composed mostly, it seemed, of the world’s vapid masses. Their camera phones are senselessly, frantically snapping away. It again seemed, like every other museum in the world, that no one really pauses to read the provided literature anymore. Fortunately, the throngs of people thinned out and by the afternoon it was a bit more pleasant. Perhaps that is your ideal time to attend.
Unfortunately, a few of the halls were closed off (though the lights were still on) and the artifacts were just sitting idle, still seemingly capable of being glanced at by some curious onlooker. Too bad.
Eventually, depending on how much ancient statues, stonework and drapery you’ve seen, it becomes less captivating and more of a commonplace, sign of the times of what the privileged, upper classes paid to have produced to have their greatness memorialized. I planned to break up my visit with a snack at the cafeteria but there was a dismal spread that left me still pretty famished for the latter half. So if you want to spend a few hours there, and make your way through with intention, have a sufficient meal beforehand.
All said, coming face to face with the mask of Agamemnon, or whomever the actual gent was, is a moment certainly worthy of the entrance fee.
Matthew Femiani — Google review
So many incredible pieces and a really great chronological display explaining everything in detail (and in English). Learned a lot about Greece’s history through these collections.
Keep in mind that the entire right wing of the museum is closed off right now (as of April 2024), so you’re basically not getting to see a third of the collections…a bit unfortunate because you’re still paying full price for the ticket, hopefully they open it back up soon.

This museum is ideal for those who are interested in exploring the breadth of Greek history, including ancient civilizations. If you're visiting alone, don't forget to rent an audio guide at their reception in your preferred language.
It is recommended to visit this place after the Acropolis Museum, if the Acropolis is your main attraction in Athens. If you're interested in delving deeper into Greek history after that, this is the great place for you!

This museum is worth every penny of the entrance fee. It is well lighted, chronologically laid out with plaques that explained what you were looking at. Worth visiting if you want to learn more abou the history of Athens and Greece and you have some spare time. I visited the museum in November when the price was reduced to 6€ and I didn't have to wait at the entrance at all. Inside, it is a little unclear which direction to follow, but the displays are very interesting and you can learn a lot.

A great collection of tools and artifacts from all over Greece, this museum is absolutely impressive. There was almost no queue this time of year, and the entrance fee of 6 euros is reasonable for the amount of work and artefacts we see. I was told that Greece has more archaeological museums than any other country, and this museum is perfect one of the best amongst museums in Greece. Centrally located, and it was great to spend the whole morning here. Highly recommended.

We learned Athens is a city full of treasures and we found no single place with more of them than the National Archaeological Museum. From jewelry to sculpture and almost anything else. The displays are grouped by periods of time so that viewing the exhibits is like walking through history. We felt this museum allowed us to explore a huge amount of ancient Greek culture all in one place.

World class. What a mindbendingly fascinating museum. A highlight of Athens and good value. I had 2.5 hours to see it and it was only just enough. The range of things to see is incredible: Bronze Age, Mycenaean, Minoan, Roman, Egyptian periods, and more. There were so many objects there older than 3,500 years, it’s astounding. A lot of it is in fine condition. This was my second-favourite museum in Greece after Acropolis Museum.
There is a bathroom and a cafeteria downstairs along with some gardens. It’s unlikely you will be allowed to bring a bag in, but there is free storage and the staff were lovely about it.
Damian Tapley — Google review
Paid full price for a ticket yet only 40 of the 65 rooms were available to be viewed. The others, while perfectly ready, were blocked off due to insufficient staff to manage the space.
The staff are great with the limited resources they are given by the Director of the Museum and the Minister of Culture who appear not to care about the paying public.
Several rooms that I wanted to see were not available.
This pattern is seen across many of Archaeological sites throughout the city. I gave two stars for the staff and the free audio guide (that just as easily could be made available online).
Will the Minister of Culture, Greece (who is an archeologist) care for the museums she has responsibility for?
In regards to entry, the long queue is due to all bags being scanned in entry using ONE machine. More machines, quicker entry.
It's only going to get worse in the peak season.

Impressive stuff, this museum has lots to offer, it takes you back in time, one needs lots of time to visit and read maximum stuff. Good thing is that Kids with EU passports visit free, most of the attractions in Greece had this policy, they have different prices for the European nationals. So don’t forget to check if these discounts apply to you.

Great museum! MUST GO! Only €6 and you get your money's worth. I went twice while in Athens.
The museum is filled with many ancient artifacts and can take someone a while if they are particularly interested. Must see exhibits include the Antikythera computer, the Greek moon rocks, statue of Perseus, and the unidentified statue of Zeus-Poseidon. The garden in the lower level is also quite beautiful.

The National Archeological is a mandatory site to see while visiting Athens. It has the largest collection of Classical Greek art in Greece, however parts of the museum were closed off for no particular reason (there were no renovations). I was disappointed that I couldn’t see everything and I think that the Museum should let visitors know in advance that certain areas will be closed off before they purchase their tickets, plus let them know till when will certain collections be unavailable.
The Corinth Canal is a remarkable achievement of engineering spanning several centuries. Conceived by an Ancient Corinth ruler, started by Roman emperor Nero, and finished in the 19th century by the French, it's over 6km long and 23m wide with vertical sides towering over 90m above water. The canal played a significant role in elevating Piraeus' status as a prominent Mediterranean port.
I think it is one of the must-see locations on the way to Nafplio. The canal was built in late 1800s. However, as far as ı read, a landslides was occurred in the slopes of the canal. The Greek government decided to remove the debris and re-open the canal in 2021. however, we visited the canal in April 2022 and it was still closed to ship traffic.

I think this is a must see. The canal is long and narrow with beautiful tall cliffs on either side. The water is a strikingly beautiful blue when the sun directly hits it. You can watch boats make their way through the canal. It is about an hour drive from Athens airport, but it is a cool way to see the Greek countryside. There is a bungee jump there called Zulu Bungee which I highly recommend. You can even go there and watch other people jump from the viewing area above. There is ample paking and a bridge that you. an also walk out on to see the canal better. Also there is a nicely maintained restroom across the street.

The Corinth Canal is a man-made canal in Greece, that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 meters (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. It is currently of little economic importance becoming mainly a tourist attraction.

Canal under constructionin1882.
It looks like this today.
Vlado ST — Google review
The canal was initially proposed in classical times and a failed effort was made to build it in the 1st century AD.[4] Construction recommenced in 1881 but was hampered by geological and financial problems that bankrupted the original builders. It was completed in 1893, but, due to the canal's narrowness, navigational problems, and aperiodic closures to repair landslides from its steep walls, it failed to attract the level of traffic expected by its operators.

This spot is not easy to get to, there are no proper road and have to drive through mud road. So be prepared if you want to get here. The view aren’t that magnificent as well. I would suggest taking a look at it from one of the bridges and passes the canal.
However if you would still come to this spot, I have attached some pictures that hopefully will help you find the entrance which is next to the petrol station - as you can see no proper road. Safe trip!

For a 19th century canal, it is impressive.
But not quite my thing.
You can also do a bunging jumping from the bridge.
The area itself did not have much to do.
It is probably something you do because is near somewhere else you're visiting. We were going to Temple of Hera and this was on the way.
There were some suffering stray cats too, so a bit heartbreaking. Please bring something for the lil kitties if you visit.

Loved this boat ride down the canal. The bridge goes down into the water and the boats go over it and down the straight canal to the other end. Very relaxing and nice boat ride. You get to see both ends of the canal and then turn around and go back. There is a tribute to Nero who started the project at the one end on the Corinth side.
The Delphi Archaeological Museum houses a vast collection of architectural sculptures, statues, and other precious objects donated to the ancient Greek oracle from the 8th century BC onwards. It is a matter of debate whether to visit the museum or site first, as both offer unique experiences. The museum provides visitors with insights into what the site may have looked like during its prime, featuring wealthy buildings and vividly coloured statues.
The museum is right next to the Delphi ruins and holds most of the (small) items found on the site and the more monuments/decorative stones used on the buildings.
The museum isn't that big and takes the general visitor less than half an hour.
Including the Delphi ruins this is a sight worth seeing.

Really incredible museum and building! Loved how the building stands on stilts overtop of an archaeological site with several places to view from. It's easy to understand why it has won so many awards with its thoughtful design that compliments the exhibits without taking away from them. Note that you are not allowed to bring backpacks into the museum. I was asked to check my backpack but it was free and an efficient system. No worries there.

Archaeological site and museum locate beside each other, just off the road. Finally, found a spot in 5 – 10 minutes’ walk. Since no specific parking lot provided, there is a chance, need to go back and forth to find a spot after somebody’s leaving. Staff were very nice and welcome. Site is located in the heights and good looking landscape. You would see different nationality, professional and nice travelers, interested in history. There was some information about monument but it could be more. There were some shops for statues and souvenirs with good price. Still there is a chance to negotiate. Local people were welcome to provide information, to help to find parking spot, and to show the ways.

Visiting the Delphi archaeological site and museum was an unforgettable journey into the heart of ancient Greece. The site itself, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, offers breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Exploring the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the theater, and the stadium was like stepping back in time, imagining the rituals and competitions that once took place there.
The museum, with its impressive collection of artifacts, beautifully complements the outdoor experience. From intricately carved statues to delicate pottery, each exhibit tells a story of the people who once inhabited this sacred place. The highlight for me was seeing the iconic Charioteer statue up close, its serene expression and masterful craftsmanship truly awe-inspiring.
The staff at both the site and the museum were knowledgeable and passionate, adding depth to the experience with their insights and anecdotes. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking to connect with the past, a visit to Delphi is a must-do. It's a place where ancient wonders come to life, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the privilege to explore its treasures.

Incredible history behind an ancient center of religion. Imagine asking and then getting advice from a woman who babbled from inhaled vapors which then were interpreted by priests in a vague manner so as to allow the questioner to figure out the answer for themselves. And then the vast mini temples and tributes to the Oracle...
It blows the mind as to how powerful and influential this place was.

Good museum. You definitely need an engaging tour guide to get proper context and history behind each display. The museum felt a little congested and the air conditioning is bad. No proper ventilation. Overall a good museum to visit. Just make sure to grab a fan to get yourself some air.

Worth the drive - don't miss Delphi!
This was one of the best parts of the our Greek trip! Delphi is so beautiful and magical. It was worth the two hour drive from Athens. We took a tour with Getaways Greece which was a day trip. The vistas were just beautiful on the drive. Once you get to Delphi it's like you're transported to somewhere magical! I loved it better than Acropolis which was so touristy. The crowds were sparse here and it was lovely to take in the sites at your own pace without being herded like cattle.
Mind you it does take a bit of walking if you want to get to the top to see the stadium. But even if you don't go all the way to the top it is still a beautiful place to visit and you can still get a lot out of it without going to the top. Wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful museum and incredible site to explore. We had a private guide that explained all of the historical significance of the site.
I'll just add one warning: the incline is steep and the steps are uneven. If mobility is an issue, as it was for me, making it to the top to see the theater, may not be possible.

Nice musium! Very explanatory through the texts that describe the different monuments! It is relatively small thus it is not getting boring for smaller children lets say. It combines the outside area of Delphi that is very pretty with a beautiful view! A pleasant experience for sure!

This museum wasn't too bad, especially since the ticket to the Sanctuary of Apollo came with the museum ticket. For the size of the place, I was kind of expecting it to be wall to wall artifacts and it really wasn't. With the museum and the archeological sites, maybe took a few hours to read about and take in.
Brian Morton — Google review
If your visiting Delphi this is a must see. The museum really helps put the ruins in perspective and context. Lots of ancient artifacts found at the site. It's very affordable and not huge, I wouldn't see spending more than maybe a few hours.

Great place to visit if you're in the area. Plenty to see and learn during this site.
The path is nicely laid out, and you should be able to see everything should you follow the correct path.
The archeological site also offers an amazing view of the mountains, especially as you get higher towards the stadium.
The ticket price also offers entry into the museum, which offers historic displays and artefacts from the archeological site.
Don't forget to visit the other two archeological sites just a little further down the road (gymnasium and Athena... Something - should be visible on Google Maps).
Walkable to and from the town of Delphi as well, so you can definitely spend a good few hours there, wandering around and learning about this site and its historical importance.

An exceptional archaeological site as well as a museum. It is not indicated anywhere, but due to the extreme heat, the working hours have been changed. In the morning they work from 8h to 13h and then from 17:30h to 20h. The disadvantage is that children from 12 to 25 years old outside the European Union are not entitled to free entry but pay half price.

I would advise doing this with a guide if your interested in more then just taking photos. You get a much more in depth experience and an understanding of what your looking at. Museum and the temple ruins were amazing. Note the stadium is about 10-15 mins further up from the ruins.

Not too big but interesting, best to go after visiting the main site as you'll have an idea where many of the things on exhibit were from. The Delphi Archaeological Museum, nestled in the heart of Greece, serves as a mesmerizing window into the ancient world, showcasing the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Delphic sanctuary, revered throughout antiquity as the home of the famous oracle. This museum is a treasure trove of history, housing an extensive collection of artifacts that span thousands of years, including the iconic Charioteer of Delphi, the Sphinx of Naxos, and the remnants of the Temple of Apollo. The exhibits, arranged chronologically, offer a comprehensive overview of the development of the art and thought of ancient Greece, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Beyond its historical significance, the museum's location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains, adding a layer of natural beauty to the experience. Visiting the Delphi Archaeological Museum is not just a journey into the past; it's an opportunity to connect with the wisdom and artistry of ancient civilizations, making it a pivotal stop for anyone exploring Greece's rich heritage.

A definite highlight of my families Greek vacation. Come stand at the Temple of Apollo and imagine it's 7th century BC and your about to ask the Oracle a question. The grounds here take you back to a time that predates most of what we know about history. Beautiful museum to see and then walk through what used to be ancient Delphi and make your way to the amphitheatre at the Pinnacle.

An exceptional archaeological site as well as a museum. Temples, amphitheatre, athlete stadium and many structures of this ancient world. Incredible museum with awe inspiring artefacts.

You can visit this amazing place from parking to peak in an hour. And if you do, you're cheating yourself. If you don’t want to leave with regrets, commit at least four hours for this exploration of antiquities and yourself. We were on a private tour. It was supposed to be a small group of 6 to 8 people. But we were the only customers that day so it was my partner, myself, our guide and our driver. It was perfect! Do not, I repeat, do NOT book a large group tour! You will be one of 60 people wearing a headset, separated from everyone, in your private purgatory, trying to stay within range of your distant guide’s transmission. But don’t trust me. “Know thyself.” Know for yourself. Visit & form your own opinions.

A must visit the museum. There are so many artifacts that were in very good condition or very well restored. One should visit the site first and then visit the museum. There are no restrooms inside the museum, you need to go out for that. Also make sure to check the time slot in your ticket, and visit the museum within that time to avoid issues.
Delphi is a modern town located west of the ancient archaeological site. The town was established to accommodate the population of Castro, which had to be relocated for the excavation of the ancient Delphi site. Ancient Delphi, situated on Mt Parnassos with views of the Gulf of Corinth and surrounded by olive trees, is considered one of Greece's most spiritually significant archaeological sites.

One of the best experiences at a beach I've had. The sea has crystal clear water, but I wan you it is cold :) . There are loads of restaurants all around that serve tasty dishes at reasonable prices. All in all I recommend this wonderful place to anyone !
Markella Mich. — Google review
The setting is super. Nature is great, people aren't. Garbage inside the cave.
Ifigeneia Konstantinidou — Google review
Beautiful and popular beach. It's often very crowded and difficult to find a spot. Finding a parking spot was also very tricky.
w mulia — Google review
Beautiful beach! Nice and crystal clear sea!
Unfortunately overcrowded.
Kambi Kambi — Google review
Beautiful beach. Easy to park and good stairs down. There are also a couple of restaurants and bars nearby. The water is perfect blue and the rocks on the beach are really nice but I would suggest to use slippers, especially at the other beach.
Coen — Google review
A complete must.
A bit of a long drive down hill, but on a paved road in very decent state. Get early as the cliffs surrounding the beach start to cast shade early in the afternoon.
Great restaurant overlooking the sea next to the parking lot.
Nico B. — Google review
Fairly easy access with paved road all the way. Parking at the top and a medium walk down to the beach. Beware of windy days when the waves are tall! Tragic prices at the beach bar. 20 euros for two beach chairs and an umbrella! Bring your own there is plenty of natural shade. There is also a fresh water shower and a changing room.
Sotiris Zafranas — Google review
Totally overrated beach!
It's very narrow and in case of waves, the beach almost disappears. The little rock arch is ridiculous. The little booth which sells over priced food and drinks is also ridiculous. And to make things worse, they charge
20 Euros for a sunbed and umbrella
whiches is three times the price you pay on the beaches nearby.
We were there during low season and even then it was overcrowded.
We left after 10 minutes. Don't waste your time with the long drive to get there. Not worth visiting!
Jack Lobo — Google review
Rocky beach, not very large, so gets crowded easily. The waves may hit hard so don’t set too close to the water. Large cliffs to jump from for who’s interested. Rocks and small caves to explore for children. Parking not very generous also, so best if you come early. As a general conclusion, not to be missed. The views are spectacular from above and on stairs, even though it’s not the most comfortable beach in the area
Adina Iordache — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The water is clear, warm and full of small fishes. There are some sun beds and umbrellas and a bar.
Peter Ralev — Google review
Woooow!
One of the best beaches in Pillion.
The beach is surrounded by nature and the sea is super clean with clear blue water and clean sand.
There are many big boulders in the water and kids are jumping from them to the sea and you can see bigger kids doing some extreme cliff jumping from high places. Between the boulders and it the cliffs surrounding the beach there are many caves and passeges that you can go through.
The beach is basically divided to 2 parts and the only way to get to the other side is through a big stone arch. There is a nice Cafe and showers in the middle of the beach.
Getting there from the parking area is through a path with many stairs that will take you about 3 minutes to go down and 6 minutes to climb back up.
Very recommended.
Joni Gritzner — Google review
This is indeed the beautiful beach. It is divided by 2 by the rocks and in my opinion, the 2nd part is even better. Water is super clean and that makes something special. However, the beach is a bit narrow and full of people. Better to come early. There is also a bar and restaurant there. At the time we were there, we had big waves, making it even more fun.
Lukasz De — Google review
One of the best beaches in the region. There is one bar where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, the prices are ok. There are two parts of the beach divided by huge rock, it is very interesting and nice. The sea is clear and has that beautiful mixture of emerald green and blue colors. There is a parking, and once you park the car you will need to go down to the beach but the path is easy, there is even a small caffee on a way down.

Byzantine Castle of Platamon
Mentioned on
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Byzantine Castle of Platamon, located in the south of The Prefecture of Pieria in Platamonas, is a picturesque 13th-century fortification that offers stunning views of the Aegean Sea. Situated on a rocky protrusion, it is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles in Greece. Visitors can explore this historic site and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
In a landscape of unparalleled beauty in the south of The Prefecture of Pieria in Platamonas, lies the Castle of Platamonas, one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in Greece.
It is built at a strategic point, on a rocky protrusion, in the blue waters of the Aegean, in the area that fully verifies the name of the place: PLATAMON means "rocky edges on the sea".
It is worth visiting it even if you do not wish to see a castle because it is sure that the endless view to Halkidiki, the coasts from Katerini to Mesagkalas, west the village of Neos Panteleimonas and northwest the mountain Olympus will compensate him.
The distance from the parking lot to the entrance of the castle is about 300 meters.

After so many years, I had the privilege to visit that beautiful castle. An overall pleasant experience with some minus.
- poor lighting in some places
- garbage close to the church that could have been treated better
- poor signing
As I said, though, it is a privilege to visit that place
Pardalis Georgios — Google review
Nice view and a well preserved piece of history. Dominates the view in the surrounding area.
Can be approached from the land via car or from the beach through a steep forest path. Unfortunately it was closed when I visited, but was still worth to take a look. The view is nice from the top of the hill it is situated on top of.
?kos Seres — Google review
As a castle it comes with great history, the view from the top is breathtaking, but it isn't for sure comfortable walking on top of sharp rocks at the path until you get to the castle. It would be nice if they built a new path right next to the old one, so that people with disabilities may have access. Inside the castle the area is a little disappointing as if they don't care to preserve it. Overall it's worth visiting but it isn't easily accessible, make sure you wear boots and have good balance.
Lila Zigkiri (Eagle Eye) — Google review
Wondeful old castle with amazing view to paralia beach, and also to the mountains. The ticket is 3 euro each person. You can have a nice, about 20-30 minutes walk inside. Actually is quiet big castle, had some nice point where you can take lovely pictures from the surrounding. Absolute must visit these place if you are in the area.
Lajos Szilard Bana — Google review
To be honest, as a Greek civilian, I've never come here. If you visit this place you'll be amazed by this ancient structure.
Duck Lemon — Google review
It has a spectacular view, the fares of the tickets are great (free for EU citizens under 25). It is good that after the exhausting journey up the hill to the castle, there are plenty of space to relax under the trees, so in the summer it is also okay. The only thing that I miss is proper exhibition-like experience: displayed information or visualized historical elements.
Martin Fekete — Google review
A beautiful piece of history where you can admire the ruins of a 10th Century fortress. The entrance fee is €3 and worth it especially if you want to take amazing pictures of the surrounding area. You can even take a walk around the fortress and see more beautiful views.
Johanna Ferguson — Google review
Well worth the visit. A small walk up the hill and you are drawn in by the towering castle walls.
Inside through the gates there are several old churches from the Byzantine era to explore of scale the walls and enjoy the amazing vista from above.
Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tony Bones — Google review
I liked the experience - I believe it is a great tourist attraction and provides opportunity to sightsee in the area. In the summer it is open until 19:30 and the tickets you buy when you enter the fortress and not right away when you enter the premises. There are not many information signs but it is nice to walk around and see what has been preserved as well as the view from the top is breathtaking. There is parking, also discounts for families and children. There is no opportunity to climb in the tower so don't expect that.
Madlen Nenkova-Ivanova — Google review
Amazing place to visit. The top is full of trees and benches, so people can relax and rest while looking at the old architecture and walls.
I recommend to take the pathway up to the hill. It has shade as well as amazing views, opposed to the stairs which can be tiresome for some especially in a hot Summer day.
Remember to take some water.
Zhetchko Vitchev — Google review
Beautiful view, centuries of history in one place. Avoid mid-day for visits, bring some water with you. I can understand that they want to keep the place clean and preserved, but it would be nice to have some vending machines inside, for water, at least.

Epar.Od. Platamona-Penteleimona 38, Dion Olimpos 600 65, Greece
Located at the foot of sacred Mount Olympus, Dion served as a holy city for the Macedonians and was primarily dedicated to Zeus and his daughters, the Muses. As one of the most significant historical sites in Northern Greece, it is highly recommended for visitors to Thessaloniki. The stunning landscape surrounding the site adds to its appeal as well.
Dion archaeological site in Northern Greece. Definitely the most significant site after Delphi and surely a must visit in case you plan to visit Thessaloniki. Amazing landscape at the shadows of mount Olympus, the mountain of ancient Greek Gods...
Michael Nalbantis — Google review
Awesome archaeological site. It's vast so even if you walk quickly you definitely need 1.5 hours. Lysh greenery, impressive canopy over our heads creating shade, lots of little rivers and small ponds. We visited ( 2 adults, 2 pre teen kids) early August 2022, at 18:15, on a 36 degrees Celsius day and felt the heat only dyring the last half hour walk. Signage needs improvement in the site. More paved walkways are needed too.
Evee Anastasopoulou — Google review
If you are an ancient history buff this is will suit you well. It is a huge sit with many ruins. Unfortunately it is very run down and unkempt. There are a few nice mosaics but mostly it is foundations with a reproduced small theatre and loads of foundations. There is an extensive excavation and maintenance program but it is not there yet. Nice to wander through the park but disappointing otherwise.
G Mac — Google review
Very historic place. Not much left of the ruins but very interesting if you read the signs. Nice little museum with remaining statues.
Emma-lea Davis — Google review
Archeological site is like a huge park with trees, river and remains of old village, including 2 theatres - Roman (small) and Hellenic (big). Hellenic theatre that you see on satelite map is inside the complex, so you go straight to entrance, get the tickets and path will guide you throug.
After this site I recommend to visit the Museum in the city (Archeological site tiket price covers it as well) so the full image of old Dion will be even more close.
Mladen Matovi? — Google review
We really enjoyed our time here. I’d recommend stopping in if you’re in the area. You need about 1.5-2 hours to see everything properly - and I’d recommend walking the entire grounds. The bath house was fascinating. Some better placards and directions would make this site even better.
Alysha Wagstaff — Google review
The place is absolutely stunning and huge! It is a true walk through ancient history.
Piece of advice: do not visit in July or August because the heat will melt you. We wished to spend more time in the archeological site, but we simply couldn't bear the heat and we gave up after an hour of walking in the scorching sun.
Ingrid Budu — Google review
Beautiful and large park full of wonders. Must visit!
Victor Mihailescu — Google review
The Park itself is a place full of history and by itself an interesting place to visit. Unfortunately the place seems to be taking care of itself. Some visitors make it worse by littering the park. Plastic bags and cups were seen on the soil and water streams close to important sites there. This was shocking.
There is no guide, no suggested route so you basically walk around clueless until you stumble on some ruins. There is no folder with a map you can take, not even in digital format that anyone could download with a qr code, for instance. Instead, you have info boards and some are so damaged or dirty you can't read them. This place has a lot of potential to attract tourists and be an educational hub. Instead, you will be as amazed to see the sites as you will be shocked by the lack of interest in keeping them in good shape. Still, it's very much worth the visit.

The temple of isis is impressive.
Some fine mosaics and the ancient road that is well preserved

This was a very intriguing site. If you are a history buff give yourself plenty of time to explore this vast site. I highly enjoyed this experience.
Mark Steitz — Google review
It's quite a journey to go through the whole park, we even couldn't finish it. I don't know why but they didn't let us to return to one side of the park when we cross the street to the part with Roman baths and wanted to come back to the places before.
The area is huge, definitely prepare more time to completely discover all the sights. Several sights are not that breath-taking in the eyes of public, some of them are more interesting. The information boards are in Greek and English.
It's quite hot there during summer, in some parts you need to be prepared to walk some distance without a shadow.
There are several water sources to cool down which were nice.

Visit the sanctuary of Zeus at the base of Olympus Mt. Yesssss great choice, great location, you can even run inside in between different parts of the site. Highly recommended

Interesting place and low price to enter. The park seems a little unkempt, and most of the ruins are near-completely gone. However, if you have time during your visit to Greece I would recommend a visit. If you have little time, consider skipping this.
Vincent DiFonzo — Google review
Very interesting and huge archeological site, nice opportunity to take a look how ancient city Dion was organised, many sanctuaries with greek and roman theatres were in one part and urban area with roman baths and odeon in other part. There are also many remains of public toalets and beautiful mosaics and also nice way to see how roman baths functioned!
Jadran Stojadinovic — Google review
The archeological park is huge, if you want to walk around you're in for at least 60-90 mins walk. Quite tiring, I recommend the sanctuary of ISIS if you don't want to walk so long and the ruins immediately at the entrance, there were some impressively intact mosaics on the floors of the initial buildings that you can still see parts of. Please be careful to have water, there are absolutely no shops to get refreshments from!
Raluca Vasiliu — Google review
Great historical site to visit when you’re in the area! Only downside was that enclosed area was closed for some reason and thay still selling tikets for 8 euro. My suggestion is choosing spring and fall to avoid heat on pretty lage open space.
Predrag Kumanovic — Google review
The biggest archeological site in Greece open for public. There is a park with the river nice to walk and you can visit here the ruins of roman and hellenistic city, Dzeus Sanctuary, Demeter Sanctuary, Isis sanctuary, roman and hellenistic remains of the theater. This place was in the ancient time a sea port! You better reserve your time 1- h to visit ALSO archeological museum located in the village, where mosaics and monuments are present that was found by archeologist.
Reconstructed tomb of a 3rd-century B.C. Greek ruler, with treasures such as a delicate gold crown.
History and glory. Philip father of great Alexander continues to amaze even from the grave. Glory, attention to detail and the vast history of the man are only few of the reasons you should visit these archaeological sites. Whatever I write is an understatement to the feeling you get when you visit the tomb. It will take you around an hour to pass threw and then you can also visit the palace which is very near from the tomb with the same ticket.
Vas. Th90 — Google review
The tombs themselves are amazing! Only reason for dropping a star is it is confusing what is and isn't open, most things are closed, and €12 a person is a bit steep when most things are closed. But the exhibit is really well put together and still a must see. We went just out of season amd the place was intermittently busy and quiet.
Tyrhone — Google review
Along with The National Arch Museum in Athens and the Arch Museum in Heraklion I’d consider this one if the top museums in all of Greece. Beautifully arranged inside the burial mound. It’s dark and atmospheric and the displays show incredible finds from the royal tombs. A must see site if you are anywhere nearby
jeremy kalous — Google review
Of the dozens of museums I have visited in Greece, this is one of the best. Amazing artifacts and incredibly well-preserved tombs. If you have more than a couple days in the Thessaloniki area, I would highly recommend renting a car or taking a day trip. The ticket also grants you entry to the other museum in Vergina.

What a fantastic experience in vergina. Definitely a must do in Greece. You get to see the tomb of Phillip the 2nd (Alexander the Greats father). Absolutely amazing

Great place for history lovers of the ancient Greek heritage!
It is an underground museum containing the burial clusters of Philip II of Macedonia and Great Alexander's son, known as Prince of Macedonia!
He was the son of Alexander the Great and Roxane died at the age of 13-14.

Amazing place! You almost can't belive the amazing history hidden beneath the green hill! Definitely a must visit if you're in the area!
michal bendet — Google review
A fantastic experience. You go inside the tumulus to see the Tom sites in situ. There are displays of the treasures found there and a moving film dedicated to the archeologist showing the discovery and artistic musings on death. The entrance ticket is €15 but this also gets entrance to the polycentric museum a few miles away. Worth the admission.
G Mac — Google review
Amazing underground tomb (Great Tumulus) that is the final resting place for three individuals: King Phillip, father of Alexander the Great, Alexander’s son and half brother. Artifacts from the tombs are on display and you can walk very close to the doors of the tombs of Phillip and Alexander’s son. Please be respectful and follow the rule to not use flash when taking photos as this degrades the treasures.
Lisa Dambach — Google review
This place is full of wonderful treasures with real tombs and ancient armor worn by great warriors. The tour guide had an amazing way of talking about the stuff all around us that you would get really immersed and feel as if you where there inside the story. The museum is beatifully built and the representation of the items inside the tomb where very clear. It's nothing compared to the regular museums you probably have been. I won't spoil much, you need to see it with your own eyes!

This is a definitely must visit location if you are interested in Ancient Greek history and archeology. The finds from Philip II’s grave are astonishing and extremely well preserved. If you are around do not miss the chance to pay a visit and you won’t be disappointed

FANTASTIC! Filip the 2nd was that time the person who ruled the most of the "known land" ! The whole necropolia in this area was about 200 ha, where about 5 ha was dedicated to citizens of the capital of Macedonia around 350 B.C. Possibly the area sorrouning the Royal Tumulus of Filip the 2nd is 5 ha and there are also burried here about 35 000 soldiers of Alexander. Absolutely must-see!!! Many interesting information you may find on English wikipedia. Full ticket 15 Eur and 8 Euro reduced price. You must have document with photo to get reduction for elderly citizens. The ticket is valid fot the Museum of Royal Tombs and archeological sites nearby.

We went to the royal tombs after a long trip from Florian. The staff were polite and the exhibit breathtaking. The dark lights and strategically placed artefacts created a unique atmosphere. However, two things had affected us. The text next to finds was sometimes too small to read or easily attributed to finds. Also the signage and directions to the royal tombs were not clear.
Vasilis Tsamis — Google review
Very impressive museum of one of the most important archeological sites of ancient Greece. The dimmed lights offer a surreal experience of the tombs of many Greek Royals of the Macedonian Kingdom with most important Phillip II (Alexander the Great's father).
Dimitrios Platis — Google review
This is an incredible museum, they've done an amazing job in the way they have excavated this and allow you to walk through the tombs. I believe this is a must see if you're in the area.

It was absolutely amazing to see this beautiful prepared exhibition about Philip II in the original tumulus!
We forgot the time and stayed nearly three hours, one hour with a guide and two hours by ourselves to enjoy every detail and to remember everything in a close memory.
One of the best places to remember that Greek was a high culture and Europe and Asia share more than just "one" history.
This museum is a must for anyone who wants to understand history as more than just dust and legend.
Be aware of the opening hours!

I had the honoro to meet Professor Andronikos back in the early 80s as he hosted archeologist from around the world to view his findings and hear his story. I feel in love with Greek history due to him. I love visiting this place.

Excellent!!! The museum is built underground so you get the feeling of entering the tomb of Phillip the second as you descend. Lighting is kept low and only the artefacts and exhibits are lit, drawing the visitor in for closer inspection. The whole experience is magical and very unique. I highly recommend a visit.
Richard Stefanou — Google review
We purchased the tour through Ammon Express, which also took us to Pella. The exhibition of the Royal Tomb was great, some parts are very dark and I would recommend you watching your step. You could feel the history and seeing the entrance to the tombs was neat.

My visit to the royal tombs in Vergina was a magical experience. Archaeological excavations reveal the antiquity and wealth of the era. As I walked the corridors between the trenches, a sense of awe and wonder of discovery came over me. The presence of history is omnipresent, and the royal tombs of Vergina highlight the intense culture and exquisite art of ancient Macedonia. This experience will remain unforgettable, a unique encounter with history that lives on even today
