Beautiful castle in Schwäbisch Hall. Nice place to walk around on a sunny day. You can come from the city center by foot, it is about 2 km through the "Ackeranlagen" city garden. There is a public toilet, which was unfortunately closed today. Can make a great trip for kids, the castle is safe even for the smaller ones.

A perfectly preserved monastery, definitely worth a visit.
Archaeology museum focusing on Roman artifacts, with an open-air excavation of a cavalry fort.
The limes museum in Aalen is a great place to visit. You can look through the indoor exhibition on two floors which tells the story of the Romans in and around Aalen as wells as the development and fall of the limes. Besides original and replicat exponats there are lots of modern information displays and interactive visuals. Outdoors your can walk around the remains of the former Roman camp and take a look at a reconstructed barrack. The indoor part is open till 17:00 on most days and you are allowed to stay in the outdoor section even after closing time.

Our first time and it was okay. Some amazing history. The price was okay. We enjoyed. Thank you.
Mae R — Google review
Surprisingly fascinating. For Americans, the name is somewhat confusing. I thought it was going to be some sort of geology or cave or limestone exhibition. But "Limes" is a Latin word roughly meaning "limits." It seems Aalen was near the limits of the Roman empire and the Romans had built a wall just north of the city. The museum itself is built on site of an ancient Roman outpost and is filled with artifacts that have been found in the area. There are the remains of buildings partially unearthed on the grounds outside of the museum building.
While you can travel to Rome and see better preserved evidence of the Roman empire, I learned more in this museum about the daily life of the Romans and their conquered lands than I had anywhere else.
And if you are a thinking person, the "end" of the exhibit upstairs should give you pause and food for thought for quite some time to come.
This is definitely worth a stop if you are live nearby or are simply driving anywhere near Aalen on your way to somewhere else.

Wonderful display of the Roman Frontier fort, and the tin figurine collection explains Roman days. The artifacts and recreations are well worth the visit as well!

Absolutely recommendable visit. The museum offers a vivid and varied insight into Roman-Germanic history. I especially like the two thousand tin figures diorama. Impressive work. I wasn't aware until now how far south the Limes wall extended. With numerous and some extremely well conserved exponats and lots of illustrations and models the life of Roman soldiers is well documented. I especially like the focus on the various touching points where Roman and Germanic culture meet and somehow combine without giving up their own identities. The Roman eagle and the Germanic bear - a data collection of a precarious and cautious history full of wars, battles and countless skirmishes. But phases and local spots of a calmer and cautious coexistence were possible, too. It seems.

Very nice, modern and spacious museum about the Romans in the area of Aalen and the Limes in general. We were lucky because we happened to arrive at the right time on a Sunday afternoon where a free guided tour had just started (3 pm I think). The tour guide (in Roman outfit) was excellent and brought the exhibits to life for us with additional stories, facts and anecdotes. I can highly recommend this museum and tour. We didn't walk around the outside area much because we ran out of time and it was very hot but it looked very interesting. There is an area where children can try out clothes and helmets. We also found a small play area for young children (we were there with a 6 year old). I wasn't sure if this area was meant to be used or only as part of larger groups (it was a bit separate) but our daughter enjoyed playing there with the building blocks and setting up forts and castles. Unfortunately, the museum does not have a café area attached to it, so if you get hungry you need to go somewhere else. Perhaps it's too expensive for museums to run coffee places along the side. Maybe just a vending machine would do the trick. Thank you to the nice staff at this museum!

St. Jakobskirche is a towering Gothic basilica that dates back to 1485 and is renowned for its exquisite high altar and religious artworks. It is the largest church in Rothenburg, built during the 14th century. Notably, it boasts of two altars- the Heilige Blut or Holy Blood Altar which features intricate woodcarvings that house a capsule containing three drops of Christ's blood.
Beautiful Church, the wooden carvings were just so intricate! It's so nice to see such personal touches in so many Churches across places.
Family ticket cost Eur 6 (it's not about the money at such places, this is purely for information). Worth visiting!
Ajay Reddy — Google review
An interesting, but plain church. I would not say it is particularly special, and there are numerous and far better examples in Europe that far exceed this in terms of relics, artwork, and interior architecture. In fact, it is quite simple in comparison, and you are unlikely to spend much more than 10 minutes there.
It is, therefore, all the more surprising that they CHARGE visitors a FEE to visit, which was a first for us. Whilst I am not saying this does not exist elsewhere, I have yet to experience this in our visits to any other church or cathedral in Europe.
Jamie Cooksey — Google review
Beautiful church with an outstanding alter piece. Don't miss the carved wooden shrine in the gallery.
Brian Hamilton — Google review
We enjoyed our visit in December 2023. The church itself is a beautiful old building with lovely artworks and stained glass windows. There is an entry fee of a few euros, but honestly it is worth it just to see Tilman Remanschneider’s incredible Holy Blood Altar (up the rear stairs to where the organ is). How Remanscheider’s work isn’t as well known as the Italian Masters, I don’t understand. His work is amazing.
Renata W — Google review
Beautiful in every way, but charging the entrance fee is unacceptable in a church.
That being said, come see it, it's nice.

St. James church in the middle of Rothenburg, near the market centre - it's pretty large from the outside, but pretty basis from the inside as compared to other beautiful churches in Germany.
Mat Bienczyk — Google review
The church of St. James is an awe inspiring display of architecture. The church was built from 1311 to 1484 and the organs are impressive. If you have the chance to go during advent, they have organ concerts. The wooden alter is a relic. There are so many detailed carvings, it is almost impossible to see them all with their intriguing details. The stained glass windows are truly a sight for themselves. I cannot imagine all the hours it took to create them.

Just go for a visit if you are in Rothenburg.
Absolutely stunning Gothic architecture. Came around such a remarkably beautiful church after a long time. Although they do charge for the entrance but it is completely worth it, considering the information they provide (if you are interested in knowing the history). The paintings over the glass windows feel like almost alive and the Altar of the Holy Blood was something I could not stop looking at. The scriptures carved out of wood are just something to admire at. Felt completely at peace as I sat and prayed here.

A beautiful church full of history. We paid a few euros to enter and received a pamphlet with some information on it’s history. We did not experience any difficulty with communication upon entering. I believe they do offer tours but we did not attend. You can take the stairs to the second floor to see the Altar of the Holy Blood. It is recommended that you wear a mask but the majority of the visitors were not wearing one.

The architecture is outstanding. I did not go inside as I was busy doing an overview tour of Rothenburg. The detail in the exterior was outstanding. I imagine the interior stained glass windows were dramatic.
The Town Hall and Councillors Tavern is a historical landmark with an impressive tower that can be climbed during summer. The Georgsbrunnen fountain, located nearby, was once used for executions and traditional shepherd dances to ward off the plague. The 15th century Jagstheim House stands on the left side of the Town Hall. Visitors can explore the museum and dungeons through historical archways in the courtyard entrance.
The city hall of the old medieval city of Rothenburg od Tauber is most visited town and most photographed in Bavaria. The city hall building is so impressive with its old tower. Beautifully decorated with lovely summer flowers! Many half- timbered houses in the area. Lots of shops and cafes, there are many Asian tourists here, e.g, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipinos. The Rathaus draws a lot of attention because of its impressive architectural design! There’s enough parking outside the old-walled medieval city. Really lovely visit anytime of the year, especially at Christmas time, this city has the most attractive Christmas Market!

This is the heart of this historic town. The clock tower is a must see as it goes about its task of ringing in the hour with automation. On the square there are often events of music or other activities. Take the night watchman tour that leaves here at dusk.

A wonderful place to visit, particularly the town hall. Our visit was not very pleasant because of rain. The restaurants at the main sqare were pricy but good according to our and our group member's experience.
Tulasidhar V — Google review
One of the most crowded places in the old town. The viewing platform is accessed via the town hall and around 360 steps. Once in the tower itself the steps are quite narrow which would make it difficult with a crowd. Well worth the effort but much easier to appreciate when there is no crowd.
The Medieval Crime Museum is a museum that features artifacts relating to medieval crime, such as torture tools and legal documents. The tour provides an overview of the criminal proceedings from investigation to sentencing in the medieval era. The museum is open April through October, and November through March.
This museum is fascinating! They offer learning of both
the evolution of punishment and laws through history with a focus on medieval Europe. My kids (both under 10) really liked the exhibits about school discipline and the dioramas. Many displays prompted us to have family conversations about why standard laws and rules are important for peoples lives and how they can foster expectations of behavior and order. We all thought the gossip masks were hilarious and maybe they should be brought back (j/k). Most signs are in both German and English and offer more information then I read but I really enjoyed all of it!

Such a great place if you like the dark ages and are interested in witch hunts, torture devices and stuff like that. You will enjoy it!!

Plönlein is a noteworthy area in Germany that showcases ancient, half-timbered buildings, a small water feature, and winding roads with various stores. It is easily accessible from Grafenwohr and parking can be obtained for a fee. When visiting on a weekday morning, the location is relatively calm and peaceful allowing visitors to experience the stunning scenery without any disturbances.
Beautiful area! But if you’re looking the get the iconic picture please arrive early early morning or late afternoon if attending on a weekend. I will return during the week looking for another opportunity to take my pictures with less people crowding the area.
Also, bring cash as many of the establishments don’t accept/take American cards. ..or debit cards at all!
If you’re going to the museum try to make your reservations before arriving as they have slotted times and their latest admission is 1515. (I’m not sure if they sale tickets at the door) but overall my family had a great day.
Ps. I don’t know if the appropriate people will see this but if your town could offer a guided tour in the early morning or afternoon it will be great for families like mine that have little ones and anything after 1900 is too late for us.

The walk around the town walls is great to do around sunset, it wasn't very busy whilst we walked the walls and gave great views of the Rothenberg rooftops. Whilst walking the walls look out for names on stones that are set into the walls, these are the names of people from around the world that have brought a section of the wall to help fund the restoration and upkeep of the town. Walking the walls is free to do so well worth a visit!

It is the newest and tallest structure of the Rothenburg city fortifications, the Spitaltor. The hospital tower is part of the southern fortification and was built until 1360 and 1380. The old Hospital of the Holy Spirit was included in the fortification at the request of the population. The city wall had to be expanded and thus the gate and the name arose. (Translated by Google) These towers are an eye-catcher for the city fortifications and unfortunately they are not accessible (it doesn't matter, the entire city wall is and an experience!!!). When the infirmary was incorporated into the city wall in 1370, a gate was to be built here to serve as the new southern entrance to Rothenburg. The defense of the gate was greatly improved in 1586 when this tall gate tower and eight-shaped bastion were added (the tower is visible from afar and is one of the reasons for the city's uniqueness). The bastion has 2 courtyards, has 7 gates, an upper passage and is surrounded by a dry moat into which you can walk. We could spend a good hour wandering the figure eight just admiring the exposed beams and covered bridge. The Latin inscription above the gate says: “Peace to those who enter; Farewell to those who leave.”

Very nice selection of saline pools (in-/outdoor), especially higher content %. Quite popular (i.e. a bit crowded) with a mid-age and mature audience, but a wellness atmosphere prevails (i.e. no running, screaming, splashing children and all-ages PDA make-out sessions kept to a minimum out of respect for other visitors). Additional amenities (Sauna, Kneipp foot bath, salt steam bath) and ample lockers and chairs.

I fall down in the pool as it is slippery everywhere, I approached the stuff of the pool, as I had 2 bleeding wounds, but stuff refused to provide me first medical aid and I was forced to drive 1 hour with 2 untreated wounds to medical clinic, exposing myself to the risk of infection.

Lovely idea with salt water and deco but only seniors go there, a lot of them(( to many people even on workday

I wish we would have had more free time to re-visit this location. The saltwater pools were fantastic.

Have not tried their massages yet; I'm sure it's as excellent as the rest (and I'm spoiled and fussy). Staff sososo friendly and prompt throughout. Pleasant, respectful patrons, too. Their salt lake is divine, as is the sauna village. One of the best spas in the country. More than fair pricing. Lots of healthy, refreshing food and bev options. Lots of cameras which arguably can feel weird to people. I didn't mind. Parking is one euro for the entire day. Nearby supermarket, bus stops - infrastructure is incredible. 10/10 would recommend.

Salt baths were a great experience. Different than other thermes we visited. It was clean and well kept. Wasnt as dynamic as some other thermes bc it didn't have many other rooms outside of the pools. We didn't go into saunaland though...food in restaurant was excellent, especially goulash soup
John Kennedy — Google review
Normally we love Franken Therme, however on the past 2-3 visits there have been multiple things closed (bio and kaminofen saunas, ice sauna, salzsee) and yesterday we drove for over a hour to visit and planned our trip around the Sinnfonie show, which for unexplained reasons did not happen despite being advertised on the screens in the Therme. With such unpredictable experiences there are other closer options for us so I will think twice about another trip sadly.
Andy Todd — Google review
Staff at reception was quite unfriendly and didn't answer questions just seemed annoyed we were there. However the saunas & pools themselves were quite well maintained which led to an overall positive experience. If you like hot finnish style saunas, this is definitely the place to be (although you're not allowed to pour water yourself. this is normal in Germany, not sure why?).
Expect loads of people on weekends! The sauna events were quite crowded and no real relaxation possible - only sweating! Also the quiet rooms were not quiet at all: loud ventilation system, people talking just not caring about silence at all and reserved seating all around even though it's forbidden.
Food & drinks were pretty good!

They need places like this in the States. The dead sea pool was amazing, as were the jacuzzi and the swim out outdoor pools with interior entrances on a cold Germa spring day. I also tried the cold pools, it was nice to go from a cold to hot pool and helped relax my back (which I sorely needed).

Nice thermal spa. The salt water pools are really nice to relax. There is a cafe next door with good food.

I really didn't like sauna ceremony 😏 no music, aroma, any good movement ...
As well sauna visitors don't use shower before swimming in cold outside pool, what should be controlled by staff...
Site with around 100 original buildings, trades & crafts plus events including passion plays.
Lots of authentically restored/rebuilt franconian houses surrounded by large fields. Farmland is still in use and there's lots of plant & animal varieties to see.
Primitive to more sophisticated machinery is displayed and if you're lucky you can watch live handcrafting.
Entry fee is cheap and area is usually not crowded.

The Open Air Museum is interesting, it transports you to 700 years ago, there you can see and enter the houses, see the architecture of the time and imagine the way of life, furniture of the time, the area is large so you will surely ca . You will be walking for 2 hours, adult admission costs 7 euros. There is a toilet and benches between each area to contemplate the landscape. I liked it, it is suitable for all the curious 😊👍🏻.

Excellent place for a day trip. Lots of historical things to see for adults and kids. My kids were particularly happy with open animals there and the play areas. Food and drinks available inside but I found the prices are higher. So I recommend to carry something to eat and drink especially when going there with kids.

Another great place.
Good value at €7 for an adult, includes the barn buildings in town as well.

The beer gardens are quite expensive as they put the prices up for tourists.

This place is great to get an impression how previous generations lived. The old buildings are super realistic and it looks like the people just left. Different old trades can be explored, old machinery and live animals complete the great experience.
In addition we really enjoyed the delicious food in the Biergarten at the entrance.

(Translated by Google) A very unusual but extremely interesting and richly decorated church interesting for its multi-storey interior. Namely, apart from pews for worshipers on the ground floor, there are places for worshipers in the mezzanine, under the organ, and on the first floor, at the level of the organ. Particularly interesting is the glazed part of the back rooms upstairs, which probably serve as a gathering place for bishops and priests. The extremely large organ, which can be reached and viewed from close-up, and the almost panoramic view of the entire interior give this church its uniqueness and beauty.

Currently under construction work, but the 1h guided tour was definitely worth the visit and provided great insights into the life at and history of the residence.
Very engaging and would recommend.
I especially liked learning about the everyday life at the residence.
I would also suggest to spend some time in the close-by gardens and doing a city tour, for example with the free digiwalk Ansbach audio tour which is available in English and German.

Beautiful residence with plenty of history. Tours are only in German, and they do offer a pamphlet in English, but not everything is covered that the guide talks about and points out. There's construction in several rooms that s supposed to last for the next 3 years. So much of the furniture is covered up. I would suggest adding an audio tour in different languages. Otherwise, it's a great experience and an amazing price! (€5 per adult and kids were free)

I would not recommend this tour for young children. This was a wonderful and informative tour. We were supposed to be on a German speaking tour (our choice due to time) with English booklets on the exhibits but because we were the only one the guide did the tour in English. The art work displayed was amazing. They are in the process of renovations (April 2019) so some exhibits could not be viewed, however they had photos of them. The run every hour and it was less than €10 for myself and my husband.
Wunderfull place to go to relax and walk. You truly can spend hours there. Seeing some lakes, animals and different plants. A non crowded nice area to be around.

A must visit and dogs are allowed too, every other Sunday they are even allowed to be off leash for play dates. But still recommend to keep them leashed unless your recall is good or other dog owners want contact. It’s just a decent manner to do so between dog owners :)

Needs a lot of work and almost doesn't have any flowers (at least it didn't in April) not much love is given to this place as it seems abandoned and run down, even though the Schlosspark could be something really amazing if some work were REALLY put into it. The café does make good Flammkuchen, I give it that. The restaurant was closed because "of the season" which was quite disappointing. The place was a let down but hopefully it can turn into something great with a little bit of work and advertisment! Good luck 🤞

The Schlosspark is a stunningly beautiful garden, especially when the rhododendren are in bloom. One part of the park is inspired by the Japanese style, while the other part - which is still being extended and worked on - features a moor and has been left to nature. You can easily spend 3 hours in this park if you explore all the hidden paths and maybe have a seat on one of the many benches, to enjoy the views. It's one of my favourite places to visit! Don't forget your camera. ;)

Nice indoor water park. Good place to spend 3-4 hrs with kids. Great options for adults too which includes steam, sauna and additional massage (extra payment). Nice hot spring pool is my favorite. Slides and play area sounds little boring after few hours.. So there's a scope of making some more fun activities for the kids. But overall good place for all age groups. Nice cafeteria. Ice cream vending machine. Clean showers and changing rooms. Free parking. Nice cute goodie shop. Overall good experience. Pretty reasonable too. Different water activities for different age groups. Small pools, whirlpools, slides, water sports, wave pool etc.

Entrance to sauna area 300m around the back from the main entrance. Prison style entrance (see picture) with coin that needs to be purchased at front entrance. Half size lockers in changing room. Only 1 temperature control shower inside other then locker showers. Limited inside seating. Small saunas. Small garden area. They don't want people who use the sauna to get near or influence there real guests.

Wow, just WOW!!! We were blown away by the size and the number of different water activities and pools here. And to top it off they offer a discount for families on Fridays. The food and drinks were a bit pricey which I understand to make up for how cheap it is to enjoy this magnificent attraction. We arrived at 11 am and spent the entire day here. The lockers were numerous and it was nifty how they have your locker number assigned to on your wristband that allows the parent to charge for food and other services offered at the park. I have been to a couple of other water parks in Germany but none were quite so complete in functionality. Atlantis is by far THEE best water park to enjoy on any day. There is a heated pool outside along with bubbles. There is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. I will definitely be bringing my family back to this location for the summer and winter if they offer services. They have gain5 a life long customer. The food was prepared very quickly and completely from start of my order and the hospitality of the server was impeccable. I absolutely can not wait to go back again and again to make some core memories with family and hopefully friends. This has been one of the highlights of my trip to Germany so far. I definitely recommend Atlantis to any and everyone. Not to mention the location. It was only a 20 min drive from my home in Hoechstadt. How cool is that. I wish I would known of this place as we have been traveling to Palm Beach in Nuremberg. Not any more.

It was very interesting to learn about the man who founded Levis. In the first part of the museum it was a guided by an audio tour which I would imagine is available in several languages. It was a little bit too much audio for me. Would have preferred more visual elements. For the later part there was a cool cinema where you could watch old Levi adverts. That was my favourite part. The newer part of the museum was also pretty cool with lots of info on modern culture and even the women’s movement but only in German.

Levi’s original birth house is renovated in to a kind of storyline with audio guide. In my opinion, rich of information. The room are small as it originally was, so it can be a bit narrow if a lot of people are visiting. A store by the end, sadly no good offers..that’s why not 5 star..Tickets: 5€/person

The Levi's muzeum is great. It's short and you get to know everything you need to. There's an awesome audio guide in all sorts of languages and the English one has an American western accent which is also cool. If you have a spare hour nearby it's a great opportunity to have a great time and also learn something new about Levi's company and jeans on general.
The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg is a majestic castle complex from the 11th century that includes a royal palace and gardens, offering breathtaking views of the city. Originally built as a court, it later became infamous for being used by the Third Reich to enact oppressive laws in 1935. However, its most notable historical event was hosting the 'Nuremberg Trials' after World War II.
I had a great time walking around the castle, appreciating the history and contemplating what my home country looked like at the time the castle was built and bustling with activity. I went on a rainy, dreary day but I still had good views of the surrounding area.

Wow, wow, wow. Excellent castle visit to the Imperial Castle.
Located at the top of a hill, overlooking the city of Nuremberg, the Imperial Castle is reached after a serious climb uphill. Not difficult for the fully able ,it is a long rather arduous slog up to the courtyard.

It was amazing to visit this imperial castle of Nuremberg. The constructions were protected with 3 layered thick wall with around 10 ft thickness and 2 stages of different heights. The tunnels, the rooms, the towers, the gardens, the dungeons, the underground pathways designs and the city view points were awesome to see. I felt like I entered in the Game of Thrones series.

Amazing medieval castle that have been kept so well.
This is truly a castle with super strong defense.
Not far from the city center market, easy to walk to. Free to walk into it and there is a good view of the old town.
Even though Nuremberg was 90% destroyed during WWII, the old town was rebuilt and restored according to the pictures they had of the old buildings and structures. So, much of the history is preserved. Otherwise, if they had decided to build everything new, there would not be not much of the past left to see.
Very impressive old town city market with a gorgeous fountain and church, and you can buy fantastic food, flowers, gingerbread cookies….
If you are a WWII history fan, then you have a lot more places to see.
Really worth visiting.

It's incredible how well-preserved the castle is post-World War II. Its grandeur and size are truly breathtaking. From the top, overlooking the town, you understand why it was strategically placed there. The surrounding city walls in Nuremberg are still intact, offering about an hour's walk around them. Navigating the city is convenient; everything is within a 30-minute walk from the center, allowing you to discover hidden gems like bridges, churches, and historic buildings along the way. The castle itself offers free entry and plenty of areas to relax. Exploring its various sections, like the converted horse stables and food storage areas, is best with a knowledgeable local guide to delve into its history. Though it requires a bit of uphill walking, the panoramic view from the top makes it all worthwhile, showcasing the city's landmarks and beauty.

I still can't believe that the castle is still in such good shape after the Second World War. Breathtaking, massive, magnificent. When you go up to the top and look out over the town, you get a sense of why they built the castle where it is. I cannot get over how impressive it is. Also, Nuremberg is still surrounded by the great city walls. It takes about an hour to walk around them. That's the great thing about the city. You can walk anywhere and it never takes more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the city centre. Best of all, while you are exploring the city on foot, you will find many other gems on your walking adventure. From bridges to churches and other lovely old buildings. Enjoy!🏰✨️

The Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Nuremberg is a medieval church in the former free imperial city of Nuremberg in southern Germany. It was badly damaged during World War II and later restored. The church features an elaborate Gothic facade with two soaring twin spires, rose window, delicate religious statuary, and a large organ.
I'm not into the christian culture so much but the architecture was so amazing that I was impressed like Wow.

Amazing cathedral with Gothic style architecture. The building is clearly visible in this small town with few tall buildings. The twin towers looked massive from a distance, and even more imposing up close. Inside is richly decorated. There are many religious artifacts, paintings, sculptures, and relics. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. There are also many street vendors selling great foods outside. This entire area is very pedestrian friendly.

Although crowded on weekends, it's still worth the wait to enter. Located in the old town area, its towering spires and intricate design are impressive. Inside, the high ceilings and detailed interior add to the experience. Donations are encouraged, and there's a shop and information boards to learn more about its history. A worthwhile stop on the way to the castle area from the main train station.

Very large with a high ceiling. Here you can specifically see how kings where different from serfs. How they built structures. And how they differ to now. It's a great experience to be in a place that's older than the whole united states twice over.

The magic thing about the St. Lorenz (St. Lawrence) Church is its amazing rebuilding/restoration after it was almost completely destroyed during WWII. The church is wonderfully ornated. It is a true architectural gothic-style building. However, there aren't many people visiting it, and the walk-in is pleasant and relaxing.

It's a medieval church renowned for its Gothic architecture and impressive sculptures. The church is a significant landmark in Nuremberg and is known for its stunning interior, including the famous "Angel's Choir" by sculptor Adam Kraft.

The Lorenzkirche is in the heart of the old city walls of Nüremberg. It chimes and reminds people what time of day it is no mater what part of the old town your in. Around Christmas time some of the best Christmas markets can be found in all the streets and market place area around the Church. This is a visually beautiful area of Nüremberg and the Christmas markets are a bonus, they truly are a annual treat.

I really liked this Gothic style church. Inside you will find one of the most important works "Angel's Greeting" by Veit Stoss, Madonna and Child from the 14th century and a sacramentarium created by Adam Krafft.

St. Lorenz (St. Lawrence) is a medieval church of the former free imperial city of Nuremberg in southern Germany. It is dedicated to Saint Lawrence. The church was badly damaged during the Second World War and later restored. It is one of the most prominent churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria.

Impressive church. Very beautiful 🤩 under the sun.

The church was originally built as a three-aisled basilica in the Gothic style around 1250, then expanded by an imposing late Gothic hall choir between 1439 and 1477. It was seriously damaged 😔 during the Second World War and it took about seven years to restore it.

It's one of the churches that must be seen in Nurnberg because it's old and with an impressive architecture. I attended a Christmas concert there and the acoustics was perfect.
Altstadt - St. Sebald, located in Nuremberg, is a charming area known for its annual Christmas Market and the 11th-century Imperial Castle. Visitors can explore medieval dungeons and tunnels through guided tours, as well as visit unique museums such as the Toy Museum, Hat Museum, and Amber Museum. The Albrecht-Dürer-Haus offers insight into the life and work of the renowned artist.

A very interesting place. Very informative displays. Visited as part of a walk around the entire site (which took a good couple of hours) I would have rated it higher if it hadn’t been a temporary exhibition. Compared to the similar Document Centre we visited in Munich (which was free, this one wasn’t) there was far more information available.

Looks like it's having a major overhaul (Oct 22) so the interim exhibition is not much to look at. The building and structure is pretty amazing though. Look forward to visiting again when it's all done.

The museum is currently in renovation. Currently, there is just one small part arranged. The entrance of 6 euro is a bit steep for what it is now, but already to stay in a real place of the history that you explain is a big plus. Then, even though it is temporary, it is well done and give you an understanding of the area.

Loved this zoo, animals look healthy and happy. Enclosures favored natural habitat with lots of hiding places rather than open. This does mean you miss some animals as they sleep but to me it is worth it.
Easy online tickets and Covid registration. I was through the entrance in less than 15 seconds.
Several good options inside. Need it to re-energize after the long hike through the park.

Beautiful Zoo. Pretty empty during weekday (even though the summer holidays had started this week). We really enjoyed the time there. The only negative thing is that the Manatees house was closed (ongoing reconstruction) 😔

A most wonderful and beautiful zoo. We had about 3 hours there with our 18-month-old daughter--another 30 min would have been great. Lots of really close encounters with beautiful and wonderful animals, and a fun train around the zoo (which had a storage car for strollers). There are a couple of good restaurant locations for resting and refueling.
What's so special about this zoo is that it is secluded in the woods. So, top-quality city zoo accessible by the 5/11 tram from the Hbf, but in beautiful woods.
Jonathan Goetz — Google review
Beautiful Zoo situated in a huge park. One day is not even enough to see and experience everything. I cannot choose what was our favourite. The Manatee house is a must, as well as the Dolphin lagoon with dolphins and sea lions swimming together, feeding and show(off)s. On the other end of the park there is a ‘Aquapark’ for penguins, otters, sea lions, seals and polar bears - all visible also from under water through glass walls.
On every corner there is a different kind of play ground. Mini-train on one side of the park for small and big kids 😉
Buffet/restaurant on both ends.
You can also book a guided tour for a small group to your favourite animal (seasonal and not all animals are included) or a night visit.
There is a Kids education center offering courses.

Probably visiting in the middle of winter is not ideal but it was a great experience. We spent approximately 3 hours and we would probably need at least 2 more hours to see everything. The place is massive with many animals in fairly large enclosures, a male lion and a tiger the only exception noticed. What is really amazing though is the landscape and the feeling that you are walking through a forest with the occasional animals on your path. A great place to spend the day with your family.
Hello fellow time travelers! Today I want to share with you my experience of visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein, a medieval castle ruin in Bavaria, Germany. If you are looking for a place to explore some history, enjoy some scenic views and maybe even meet some ghosts, this is the place for you!
The Burgruine Hilpoltstein dates back to the 11th century and was built by the lords of Stein, who were very influential and powerful in the region. They had good relations with the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and founded the towns of Hilpoltstein and Freystadt. They also had a lot of drama in their family, like Heinrich III, who tried to become a bishop but failed, or Hilpolt IV, who died without heirs and ended the dynasty .
The castle was then sold to the Wittelsbach dukes of Bavaria, who used it as a residence for their widows. One of them was Maria Dorothea, who expanded and renovated the castle in the 17th century. She was also very religious and generous, and donated a lot of money to churches and monasteries. She died in 1639 and was buried in Seligenporten Abbey .
After her death, the castle was abandoned and fell into decay. It was used as a quarry and a prison until it was bought by the county of Roth in 1972. Since then, it has been restored and opened to the public . You can visit the castle from April to October and see the remains of the palas, the chapel, the bergfried (donjon) and the ring wall. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding countryside from the top of the hill.
The castle also hosts some cultural events throughout the year, like a medieval festival in May and a theater festival in August. You can also find a tourist information center, an archive and a community college in the former granary. If you are lucky, you might even encounter some of the former inhabitants of the castle, who are said to haunt the place. Some people have reported seeing or hearing strange things, like footsteps, voices or apparitions.
So, if you are looking for a fun and interesting day trip in Bavaria, I highly recommend visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein. You will not regret it! And if you do meet any ghosts, please let me know in the comments!

It is a hike on a wildpark, Amazing ! There is of course a restaurant (with a long queue!), Toilet and all facilities.
You can see the animals very well! They looked happy and healthy. You also have playgrounds around.
The only thing that could have been improved is the communication about a path being closed to see the lynx and the wolf. We had to take it from a different way, which was very high steep up and we were not warned! Likely we could carry our kids but the way was tough for many others.

The deer are incredibly friendly and allow you to get very close. Make sure you buy the animal feed or bring fruit as they love to be fed.

The museum is great. Anyone interested in old cars and aviation with Zeppelins has come to the right place. Entrance fee of 9.50 euros is just about okay.
However, parts of the museum are not heated. Be sure to dress warmly in winter. A room temperature that was 3 or 4 degrees higher wouldn't have been bad.

I am sorry to say this, however as of now I cannot suggest this place to any of my friends.
It is clearly an old place and it looks like it’s not kept up as it is supposed to be.
- There is algae in all the outside filters and the inside filters do not look really clean either.
- The little “cave” has residue on the walls which makes me feel icky.
- The seats were made out of really cheap looking plastic and the metal frames of quiet a few of the loungers are rusty.
a. s. o. ..
There is no reason to make a special Tripp to this location.
T S — Google review
From the outside the place has great appeal with modern architecture and smooth surfaces, however once inside the age of the building shows. The changing rooms are packed full with changing booths and lockers with little room to maneuver around. There is only one male and one female shower room with 5-7 shower heads.
The pool area is cramped with chairs along the edges forcing you to side step past them. The concrete walls show signs of water damage and paint peeling all over. The two indoor “hot” pools were actually mildly warm with only small sections of bubbling water.
The area with the children’s pool and area was very nicely layout, however most of the kids were in the main area with their parents in the warm pools. Their behavior and loudness took away from the goal of relaxing.
A recommendation for the locker keys and access control to different areas, use a more modern method like a rubber wrist band embedded with a chip that is programmed at front desk. The coin chip works, however placing it in the wrist band holder with the locker key is bulky and requires constant attention to ensure it’s still tight or fastened to wrist.
Overall the place is best suited to take your children and let them burn some energy off. This is NOT a place to go if you wanna relax in a hot therme.
