The Topkapi Palace Museum is a vast rambling complex that was once the home of Ottoman sultans. The palace differs from many royal palaces in its seeming lack of symmetrical order. Among gardens and wooded landscape, you can find tentlike pavilions and kiosks with amazing views of the Bosporus. There are also displays about Mehmed II's conquest of Constantinople (now Istanbul) and some pieces from the palace's extensive collection of artifacts.
Very Unique place and full of historical signs. It is well maintained and it is very clean. It is higher in level than surroundings. It needs not less than 4 hours to enjoy and see everything in this place. There is a pass card that let you visit all places inside this great palace. You can buy it from the tickets office. There is portable electronic guide that explains every place and its history. It is full of green areas. It is really great place and I would like to re-visit again and again.

Amazing place, atmosphere, good condition of the palace, park, museums. Huge respect to authorities, who saved historical value of Istanbul in general and in this palace.
This place is impressive, many relics and valuables have been preserved.
However it is a pity that we cannot see rooms, furniture, the personal belongings of the sultanas were not preserved, and in general they lived very close, as lots of people come to see life of Osman family
Aima Maksutkyzy — Google review
One of the best places to visit in istanbul. You will need at least 4-5 hours to properly visit this place. The history is well preserved. Islamic relics section is mind blowing with such a rare, historic and significant collection. Highly recommended.

Stunning place and a must see if you are visiting İstanbul. The clothes displayed in the galleries were really impressive. So much to see here and do. Beautiful gardens. Many coffee shops and toilets available to use. Stunning views of the city

Also a must visit. We arranged a skip the line and 1 hour tour with guide. I was very glad I did because I would have missed too much. The palace is huge. Most is included just not the Hareem part for which you have to pay extra. Visiting it thoroughly would easily take half a day. I was very very impressed and it was all well maintained and incredibly interesting. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful beautiful place! Istanbul is stunning and this is place is a gem! The historical value this place holds is absolutely breathtaking! The Islamic history, the story of the Emperor who lived here... it's like every step was a walk in there steps. What a surreal experience. The views from here also stunning! Must visit

I recommend buying tickets in advance because my family made the mistake of waiting at a ticket pass seller just for them to tell us that the tickets to enter the museum were inside, aside from that the museum was really pretty and the gardens looked amazing during this season (summer). There were some places where the lines were so long I couldn't enter but that's because I went on a weekend. Overall it was very pleasant experience.

Absolutely breath-taking! A stunning palace built over 4 courtyards, each in different styles and architecture echoing the different eras the Sultans who owned and occupied the palace over 4 centuries.
The gardens are so peaceful, views over Istanbul and The Bosphorous stunning and the beauty of each building, both exterior and interior amazing!
I'd recommend booking in advance to 'skip the queue, and have a guided tour allowing access to all areas'.

It's beautiful and a must visit. You need to buy tickets to get into it. It could take 4-6h easily to check out everything. Bring food as it's going to take a lot of time to see all the things and there are no good food options inside. You need to buy another ticket if you want to check the harem that according to our guide could take another 2-3h to visit.

A must visit!!! And don’t miss the Harem, the price is worth it. The beauty of the place is out of this world.
I loved the holy part very much, don’t miss it either. I will recommend to start this museum first thing in your day at the opening time. We spent the whole day there, went at 10 and lest 16:00. There is lot to see.

If you come to Istanbul make sure you to visit Topkapi Palace. You will see many artifacts in great condition from the Sultans during the Ottoman Empire periods. You can plan to spend about 3 hours inside taking your time to walk around. I was surprised to see how preserved the clothing of the Sultans was. Such grand and wealth! Wow

The palace is majestically placed on one of the highest points in Istanbul and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Make sure you have enough time and energy to explore the grounds fully. Essential to have a guide to explain the various areas or rooms. Many of the walls or gates are adorned with Arabic Calligraphy. The design, architecture and layout combine the various cultures that have occupied the country.

If you want to visit any great old places, that's it. Take a ticket for 950 TL to get access to the whole territory of the amazing rooms with a lot of staff, which were made 7 BCE and even older. Everyone can find something interesting here.

Beautiful place to visit and to learn about the history of the sultans living here. This trip can take up to 3 hours. Be aware that for visiting the ancient brothel you will have to pay extra. If you are into history and culture. Its a must see! Please not that on hot days you best bring a bottle of water with you.

A great place to learn more about how the Sultans and their families used to live. I enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens and the calm patios. The only thing I didn't like was the audio guide, it was terrible to identify which number contained the information about the site you were at. I recommend at least 3 to 4 hours to visit this place. ☺️

3.5 stars
The grounds are beautiful, extremely well-maintained. The palace is beautiful, and so are the palace gardens. There are some stunning views from there too.
However, I believe the ticket is extremely overpriced. It was my sense (and the group I was with also agreed) that this should cost around 20 EUR. The ticket costs double.
There’s very little “life” and interest added to the museum, it’s almost just all “bare” palace - beautiful but a bit lifeless. In the library there were some wax figures, so if there was something like that in every room with objects and clothing from that time - perhaps it would bring the experience a bit more to life and justify the extremely high price.
Perhaps some more videos, interactive spaces… Overall a beautiful space but overpriced without the added effort.
We also thought it was overcrowded, at times we couldn’t see things due to the amount of people in a single room. Perhaps if the amount of people was limited to a certain number of people every day (like Machu Picchu) it would be better.
Ilma Ibrisevic — Google review
Nice visit especially treasury rooms. Come for the opening to have less croud. You need 2-3 hours if you take time to stop and follow the audio guide. We made it against the cloak starting by harem. Beginning of afternoon too much people.

Topkapi Palace's vast size and intricate architecture make it a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and culture seekers alike. Walking through its sprawling courtyards, lush gardens, and ornate chambers feels like stepping back in time to an era of royalty and intrigue.
However, amidst the awe-inspiring beauty lies a potential challenge: the ticket booking queue. With its popularity among tourists, the queues can be daunting, especially during peak hours. But fear not! There's a simple solution to avoid the hassle: booking tickets online in advance. By utilizing the online booking option, you can bypass the queues altogether, saving valuable time and ensuring a seamless experience at this magnificent palace.
The Hagia Sophia was an early Byzantine cathedral and mosque that served as the largest enclosed space in the world for over 1000 years. After decades of scaffolding, the interior of Emperor Justinian's sixth-century masterpiece is now able to be experienced through its vast, domed former Byzantine church and mosque.
One magnificent construction. You feel you are wrapped up by history here. A holy place that holds up the prayers of millions of people. This building looks great both by day and by night. Very nicely preserved and serves its purpose to so many.
An iconic spot and a landmark of Istanbul. A combination of what cannot be combined.

Hagia Sophia is an architectural marvel and a symbol of Istanbul's rich history. Its grand domes, stunning mosaics, and intricate design showcase a fusion of Byzantine and Ottoman influences. Stepping inside, one is transported to a world of cultural and religious significance. A UNESCO World Heritage Site that encapsulates the essence of Istanbul's heritage and leaves visitors in awe. A must-visit destination for its historical significance and timeless beauty. I respect that they kept the paintings of Jesus Christ and Mary even though it is not part of Islam.

Hagia Sophia is one of the most important Mosques in İstanbul.
This is the second time that my husband and I visit this magnificent place!
This mosque has a historic and religious significance. Once was the largest eastern Roman Church. Later was a museum, and since a Turkish top court on July of 2020 reversed the 1934 Cabinet decree which turned Hagia Sophia Mosque into a museum, it has become again in a Mosque.
The size of this mosque is enormous and it's interior is so beautiful!
As a tourist is important to know that it is necessary to take off the shoes. Women must cover their hair. They must cover also their legs. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a long skirt or pants. Shoes must be removed before entering. During pray hours, tourists must
leave the prayer area. I really recommend to visit this magnificent mosque!! It is extraordinary!

Ayia Sofia is an enchanting wonder that fully deserves its 5-star rating. The stunning architecture, rich history, and serene ambiance make it a must-visit destination in Istanbul. Prepare to be captivated by its beauty and transported to a bygone era.
It's always crowded but worth a visit.

One of the most cherished mosques in my heart, particularly during the serene moments of Fajr (morning prayer) or the sacred Fridays, is this beautiful place. It's a spot I've returned to countless times during my time in Istanbul, and each visit leaves me spellbound.
This mosque holds a special place in my soul because it's not just a place of worship; it's a sanctuary of profound peace and reflection. The tranquility that envelops the prayer hall during the early hours of Fajr is truly enchanting, and the collective spirit of the Friday congregation is a powerful experience.
But what makes this mosque even more remarkable is the whisper of history that lingers in its architecture. If you look closely, you can discern the subtle remnants of a time when this place was a church. The melding of two faiths' histories in a single structure is a poignant reminder of Istanbul's rich and diverse heritage.
Each time I step into this sacred space, I feel the weight of centuries of history, prayers, and devotion. It's not just a mosque; it's a living testament to the enduring spirit of Istanbul and its people, and I'm forever in awe of its beauty and significance.

Breathtaking place. We went there during a prayer session and we were hesitant that we'd be disturbing the folks. But, everyone was friendly and recognised us that we visitors wouldn't be disturbing them.
Some even offered to click pictures of us mid-prayer which was surprising but well appreciated.
The history of the mosque was also astonishing and the way the place has been maintained over the years is simply amazing. I wish I had visited this place during the day. I'd have loved to see the exteriors better too.

I had the pleasure of visiting Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul, and it was an experience I will never forget. This architectural marvel is truly awe-inspiring, and the sheer size and scale of the building is breathtaking.
The history of Hagia Sophia is fascinating, and the architecture is a perfect blend of Byzantine and Islamic styles. The intricate details, intricate mosaics, and beautiful calligraphy add to the grandeur of the building, and it's impossible not to be impressed by the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this masterpiece.
One of the highlights of my visit was climbing to the upper gallery and taking in the stunning panoramic views of Istanbul. The peaceful atmosphere of the mosque made it a perfect place to reflect and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.
I highly recommend visiting Hagia Sophia Mosque to anyone visiting Istanbul. It's truly a one-of-a-kind attraction that shouldn't be missed. The mosque is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of humanity, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to witness it in person.

A must visit when in Istanbul. Its free entry, just make sure ur arms n knees are covered. And carry a head scarf. Its more beautiful on the inside than the outside. Just find a corner, sit and find some peace. U can also adore its beauty sitting in the Sultan Ahmet Square

Beautiful and historical landmark that is free to visit since it was recategorize as a mosque. Prepare to wait in line due to the high volume of tourists and one suggestion is to make it the first early morning stop on our Istanbul city tour. Worth spending some time inside just appreciating the decorations and the ambience. Women must wear a scarf and cover their legs until the ankles.

One of a kind! The first place you should run to see when coming to Istanbul. The moment you step inside it's like you've stepped into a world of amazement.
We had to wait around 30 mins to get in at 9am so get there early. The worth is definitely worth it though

Beautiful mosque that allows visitors throughout the day. One of only a few that allows non Muslims to go inside. You must take off your shoes and obviously respect the signage and requests from the employees. Saw lots of people who maybe can’t read or maybe didn’t care going into places that were clearly marked off for them or for the general public.

The Basilica Cistern, also known as the Sunken Palace, is an ancient water source that dates back to the 6th century. It is a popular tourist destination due to its interesting history and stunning architecture. The cistern is filled with 336 marble columns that support a ceiling that is 9,800 square meters. The cistern was built on the site of a basilica which was constructed in the 3rd century.
An interesting historical basilica cisten its famous in many movies . The medusa column is one of the highlight of visiting this monument. It very dark inside it and cool on a hot day . Ticket is not very cheap though but the visit is worth the wait of the queue

This place is spectacular! Very dramatic and unique architectural design. Can not imagine how this place is well conserved. Each column structure has a very remarkable character. Very spacious and self-guided once you enter.
It would have been nice if they offer a recorded audio tour to give people the opportunity to learn more about the place. If you want to skip the line highly recommend purchasing your tickets online. Also, note there is no restroom on site.

Amazing experience! I'm so happy we were able to visit the Basilica without a huge line. Buy your tickets in advance. We used a local guide, and it helped with the overall experience. It's not necessary, but you can negotiate with them since they are standing outside the ticket lines. Don't rush yourself inside even though there's too many people walking around inside. It's a little difficult to take pictures, but you can be patient to get some good shots. Highly recommended coming here if you are in the historical area of Istanbul.

The Basilica Cistern is truly one of Istanbul's marvels, offering a glimpse into the historical prowess of Byzantine engineering. The dimly lit ambiance coupled with the soft echoes of dripping water crafts a mesmerizing atmosphere that transports you back in time.
The forest of seemingly endless columns is mystifying, each one with its unique engravings telling tales of the past. The Medusa heads are particularly intriguing, sparking curiosity about the myths and the reasons behind their inverted and sideway positions.
The place is well-maintained, with walkways allowing you to navigate comfortably through the cistern, making the exploration enjoyable and accessible. However, the lighting can be a bit sparse in some areas, making it slightly challenging to capture the full detail of the marvelous structures, but this adds to the overall mysterious ambiance of the place.
The entrance fee is reasonable, considering the immense historical value and the unique experience it offers. It’s a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone keen on discovering the rich tapestry of Istanbul's past.

A 1,500 year old solution to supply water to the people of Istanbul is amazing to see. Get there before 9am to avoid the queues, you will only be in there for around fifteen to twenty minutes, so you don't want to waste all your time queuing. The water level inside is kept low so that people don't drown, but when it was in use, it used to hold 80,000,000 litres. As you go down the stairs, you get to a walk level where you can see the vast area that once used to be filled with water. There is little information inside, you have to use your imagination. However, well worth a visit.

This is a very popular tourist attraction and the line to get in can be very long. We were very lucky and we got in almost without a wait, because the people stood at the line with online tickets and we walked to the ticket office without any problem. Just be aware of which line you need to go, because the signs are small and people don't pay attention.
The inside is very humid and hot, even with autumn temperatures outside, it's better to have layers of clothes, otherwise it's going to be a hard time inside.

What a special place. It's awesome to step in such an ancient monument where it was built to bring in a necessary resource. It was busy but worth it and I also was there on a weekend.

To be honest, you can hate me for this review and It's the first place in an entire Istanbul which I'm not giving the respect it should get but I really think it's the most unnecessarily hyped place in Istanbul. Yeah you're walking above the water, and it feels very wet. But if it has any history which is in there, I'd like to know from someone by any chance. Thank you for reading and You can see photos and watch videos from there, I took a lot by the way from all angles 😉. And of course any historic place in Istanbul deserves 5 stars. I can't put less than 5.
Umed Suhrobi — Google review
The place is a nice engineering work. However, it is without a guide or audio explanation, and without additional value it does not worth the money (120 TL).
You will just enter, see a 5 minutes video with light effect on the walls and columns, listen at audio effects and music.
This can be the same with video online.
Unfortunately I feel no additional value was provided.
The place has history, people are interested in knowing something. If I would like to be impressed I would've go to magic tricks show.
4 stars to the place itself, 1 star for the added value.

This is a must see when in Istanbul Turkey. The weekend we were here, there was a wait line but it moves pretty fast. We waited for our guide ans watched the people in line. If you want to bypass the line you need a tour guide. They will charge you for the tickets and tour 15-25 US per person. We only have 3 days here so the tour guide made sense. Beautiful cistern, 336 columns in total. They just renovated, and improved the walking platforms, made them higher. During contraction there was some modern art added. Looks amazing along with the original artifacts. Since the renovation, the entrance is at the side if the main building. Not the little one. It's just around the corner. 20 second walk. There are security guards that will help you. If meeting a guide, make sure you know where you meet them.

A must see and experience for anyone interested in history of Istanbul. The wait-in-line is worth it, as is the price (450 TL). It is by far a once in a life time experience. Amazing place to visit if you are a fan of ancient history. It cost 450 lira per person and you can purchase the ticket at the entrance. The queue is normally long during the day. I visited it on Saturday at 1800 and didnt have to queue at all. Inside, it is dark and humid with amazing lighting. There are some arts installation at the time i visited it. My favourite place of my trip to Istanbul especially for Dan Brown fans. Entry price is very reasonable but best to book in advance as it gets very busy even off season at the weekend. I loved it in here even though it’s a short visit. Worth it to see the Medusa head!

The Basilica Cistern in Istanbul was an unexpected discovery on my trip, and what a remarkable find it was. Prior to stumbling upon it, I was completely unaware of its existence. For those planning a visit, while the waiting lines might seem daunting, a convenient workaround is to purchase your tickets online. At $25.00 per person, the tickets were quite reasonable, especially considering the unique experience it offers.
When we visited, it was surprisingly not crowded, which greatly enhanced the overall experience. The Basilica Cistern presents a surreal atmosphere that's unlike anything I've ever seen. The combination of the dim lighting, the still water reflecting the ceiling, and the rows of ancient pillars creates a scene right out of a fantasy novel.
The tranquility of the place allows for a very relaxing visit. With the sparse crowd, we had ample privacy to take photos, capturing the eerie beauty of this underground marvel without interruption. The serene environment, coupled with the architectural and historical significance of the cistern, makes for a truly enchanting experience.
I strongly recommend taking your time to soak in the atmosphere of the Basilica Cistern. Rushing through would only rob you of the full experience this ancient wonder has to offer. It's a testament to Istanbul's rich history and is definitely a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the less conventional attractions of the city.

Absolutely gorgeous! Note, many say to purchase tickets online. We could not find the website, but maybe were stupid :-) we did have a long line which wrapped around the building when we got there. However, the line goes very fast! It’s not such a big deal to wait. We also did not get a guide, although they were several that were offering their services. It is so beautiful and cool and damp inside. It was amazing to think that this Fed fall of Constantinople! We had calculated that the water would last about a week for 1 million people.

Absolutely enchanting and captivating. It's all underground and submerged slightly in shallow water, which makes for a fascinating visit. The lights are low, moody, and changeable, so it makes for a great photo. You are really captivated by the aura of the place. Tip: Book online as the queues get very large, and you can skip the line. You will also need some photo ID with you.

Exceptional experience that is full of historical value. It is a true marvel to think that civilizations from many years ago were able to build such vast underground water storage network. This site is also an exciting fusion of past and present as the historical cistern is full of modern sculptures that reflect the identity of a young and fresh Turkiye. However, please be aware that the queues to undergo security checks and enter can be very long and that it is quite slippery inside due to minimal railings. I would not advise very young, elderly, or disabled people to visit this attraction.

During my recent trip to Istanbul, I decided to explore the Basilica Cistern, and it proved to be a worthwhile experience. The cistern's historical significance and unique architecture are undoubtedly interesting, making it worth a visit for those interested in ancient wonders.
The underground structure's vastness, supported by rows of ancient columns, creates a striking visual impact. The dimly lit ambiance adds an air of mystery, making it an intriguing place to explore. Learning about its Roman origins and how it functioned as a water reservoir in the past provided some interesting historical insights.
However, while I found the Basilica Cistern to be a fascinating site, it didn't leave a lasting impression on me as some other historical attractions have. The lack of in-depth interpretation and limited informative resources made it challenging to fully appreciate the cistern's historical context and significance. As a result, I wouldn't highly recommend it to everyone visiting Istanbul, but it is certainly worth considering for those who have an interest in ancient history and architecture.
During my visit, there was a substantial line outside the cistern, but fortunately, it moved relatively quickly, allowing me to enter without much delay. Once inside, the number of visitors was manageable, which made for a more pleasant experience as I could explore the cistern at my own pace.
In conclusion, the Basilica Cistern is worth a visit for its historical significance and unique architecture. However, it may not leave a profound impression on everyone, and its appeal might be more subjective. If you have an interest in ancient history and are looking for an intriguing underground experience in Istanbul, the Basilica Cistern is worth considering.

Mysterious place where you should definitely go especially if you watched Inferno movie. I brought my friends from Kazakhstan. Before it was just cistern for gathering drinking water, now more like a museum. You can see also some sculptures from modern artists that match with the style. And one of the most interesting columns is those with the head of Medusa. Actually there are two columns, go and see by yourself 😉

I liked this place so much, although it is not big and needs not more than 15-20 mins, but very worth it for the history lovers like me.
It was the roman longest water supply line back in time, all the place is built on water, the lights added inside is giving the columns a majestic look more than they already are.
I would recommend to limit the number of visitors and kids inside for a better experience and maybe more information/explanation boards..
The place is accessible for wheelchairs.
I recommend you to check it out, one good place for tourists 👍🏼

A magical place!
It's difficult to comprehend the effort it took to build this. From the amount of digging by hand that was needed to carrying these gigantic pillars down to lifting them up and in position. And the pillars seem like they were of different height so they also needed to level them.
Astonishing!
And the way they are lit up adds to the mysterious atmosphere.
There were also thousands of people down there when we went and we still felt the crowd only at the entrance. Once inside - it's massive and we were able to take photos and feel like there are only a handful of people.
The reason I'm taking a star off is because of the price. 25 euro admission is too high for this place where you have about 30-40 minutes top if you want to wander around and explore.
10-12 euro would be more adequate.

I always loved this place. Now they have added nice ambient lighting that rotates between warm and cold colours and minimalist sculptures. Make sure you have an additional layer of clothing as it might get colder downstairs. Queue for entry is shorter for online bought tickets.

Truely a must see in Istanbul. I really enjoyed this tour. What time did just right and got there first thing in the morning and that is what I would highly recommend you do. There was not very many people. I can understand where some people would not find this very interesting place to go to but I feel it's definitely worth in the pictures that everybody takes speak volumes of how amazing this place is.

Incredible cistern that was built at 600 AD to store water. This is really impressive if you consider the volume of water it could hold. It is for sure a must visit if you are in Istanbul! I totally recommend it.
It is a pity though because all the marble columns were taken from Ancient Greek temples! That’s why it was built so fast.

Fascinating place. They have several lighting options and have added some elegant statues. It is will preserved for its age. Good to visit early morning before it gets crowded.

Yes, the entry price is high (600 TL in March 2024) but I hadn't seen another place like that before. There are many points that offer a good photo option. I could tell that the Instagramers loved it. Try visiting a concert there it would be great, we heard some musicians making a sound check for a private event and it was very nice.

Awesome place with a mysterious atmosphere.
It’s really incredible how something like this was build 1500 years ago and its ability to store 100 thousand liters of water.
I would love to see more art pieces there as well, the different color lights were making every piece look interesting and unique.
Keep in mind you won’t have any phone connection inside.
The whole walk won’t take you longer than half an hour. There’s no bathroom inside as well.
If you u get a ticket online you can skip the queue.
Don’t miss the Medusas, get are truly amazing.
Take some time to take beautiful pictures when the lightings are changing. The water reflection will give you some natural special effects ✨
I honestly liked it, the price of 17€ was not bad, but in my opinion 10 would be sufficient.

The Blue Mosque is one of the most photogenic buildings in Istanbul and is popularly known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque because it contains the tomb of its founder, Sultan Ahmed. The mosque was built between 1616-1630 and has a dome shaped like that of the Hagia Sophia across the street.
Also know as Sultan Ahmet Mosque 🕌, a magnificent structure built over 400 years ago! Do remember to visit the beautiful tomb of Sultan Ahmet I within the compound. Restoration work continues to go on as of September 2022; as such, a great portion of the interior structure is not fully visible by the public. However, a must see place while in Istanbul!

Although it was only just after 9 when we visited, the area was already quite busy but there was no queue so we walked in, removing our shoes and then continuing to the interior of the mosque.
The mosque is a seventeenth century building, famed for the interior tile work that gives it the name. Sadly, it was undergoing restoration on this visit so the entire inside was a mass of scaffolding and hessian panelling and almost none of the tiles were visible. The remedial work on the dome was complete but the scaffolding was still there, obscuring any view. We left after a few minutes, replaced our shoes and walked the short distance past the magnificent tulip displays to Hagia Sofia.

I’ve been to Istanbul twice and visiting the blue mosque for its grandeur and beauty is a must for all. I’m always so mesmerized at how beautiful this architectural masterpiece is. The intricate details of the mosque's interior, adorned with blue tiles, creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The spacious courtyard just outside allows you to see how big and grand the mosque is. Just plan your trip accordingly as they close entrance doors during prayer time and if you want to go in, please carry a head scarf with you (you can also buy one from the kiosk by the entrance).

First of all, do not visit before 2 pm. It’s filled with tourists and tour operators. Our local guide gave us the trick to visit after 2 pm and there would be no quest to get it. Turned out to be true. From outside this is the most beautiful mosque I have ever seen. You must not miss the mosque during sunset and at night. It gets lit up and astonishing.

An absolutely breathtaking beauty. It’s as beautiful as the pictures if not more. We went to the mosque on a weekend so it was very busy. The queue to get in was long but it was quick.
Remember to dress politely and women need to cover their hair, you can use a scarf.
Be aware of the possibility of being dragged left and right by the sellers in the area. They’d try to sell their products, just ignore them.
The best time to go is in the morning. It’s a beautiful mosque.

Every step echoes with centuries of history, and every corner whispers tales of devotion and artistry. It's not just a place of worship; it's a sanctuary of serenity and wonder. They say the place is outstanding but it was closed to construction purpose. I didn't have the chance to see more than just a small area inside and a limited view of the landscape on the outside. The amazing greatness of Blue Mosque with all six minarets standing like a rockets ready to launch in the heaven, will make you breathless. Just walk around and when you enter the mosque see what means the beautiful technique of building in Byzantine stiles, even after 1000 years that Agia Sophia was built, that remained modern in spiritual and architectural building techniques. Something to admire and respect.

It is a pity to visit it at the time it is under restoration works, which I felt that it could have been done before the tourist flooded into the mosque. The exterior of the mosque is marvelous, but the interior was mostly been blocked up. Ladies do note that you are required to wear a scarf to cover your head as respect to entering the mosque and no shorts. While walking towards the mosque you will be able to see some of the ottoman history left by the destruction from the past. It is a great place to visit, but there is not much to see when there is too many people. Recommended to go at odd timings so not to clash with the crowd.

This is a "must visit" tourist spot in Istanbul. When we visited it in late April, there were many other tourists. The mosque is big and with very tall ceiling. Like any other place of worship, due respect must be shown. It is interesting to know that, in the past, only the sultan can ride his horse into the mosque, and he must lower his head to pass under a chain. This is to show respect to Allah.

Amazing mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. Also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque. Admission is free. It will be useful for you to prepare a plastic bag to keep your shoes while entering the mosque. Worth to visit at both daylight or night, equally beautiful with different feel. Better to go early in the morning as it starts to get very crowded in this area towards noon and evening.

I experienced it for the second time, here, once in 2013 and this year. This ottoman architecture is quite fascinating. Its blue tiles are favorite to me and make this unique. It is almost untouched by the multitude of earthquakes that have occurred till date. This made me curious regarding its architecture. Even at the second visit I found it having the same level of awe and attraction for me. This is the magic that brings everyone come here. But to avoid big crowds ( those who come here for prayers), any tourist must visit during the lunch hour.

I was completely mesmerized by the beauty of the Blue Mosque, both inside and outside, during both daylight and at night. And it’s free!
Though both men and women can have access to the entire area outside of the prayer times, it’s a shame that when it’s time for the prayer, the area reserved for women is very small. I wish the authority were more mindful of this.
You need to take your shoes off as it is carpeted inside, though they have dedicated shoe racks for the tourists. You can take your tripods inside unlike in Hagia Sophia. Remember to maintain Islamic attire to access the main prayer area. Women need to cover their heads and both men and women need to cover below knees. If you don’t have a scarf with you, they will provide one for rent free of cost.
The tile work and lighting inside are wonderful and very picturesque. I've noticed many tourists in large guided tour groups. However, in my opinion, if you looked up the mosque's history online or in books, you could easily grasp it yourself as it's not that complicated. That's how you could visit the mosque in a quieter style and have all the time to yourself. Find a quiet corner, take a seat, and spend time admiring the beautiful ceiling and walls.
It opens at 8:30 in the morning, but tourists start queuing up even earlier. So try to arrive by 8:00 for the best use of your time. The mosque closes to visitors during prayer times, which may vary on different days and months, so it's best to check beforehand.
While it's great to visit during the day, don't miss the chance to enter the courtyard at night (no queues at night!). The lighting in the courtyard at night is breathtaking, and the seagulls flying overhead look like pearls in the beautiful night light. But don’t be too late! You can only enter the courtyard at night when the main gate is open for prayer time. During this time, if you're not entering the carpeted prayer hall, you don’t need to adhere to Islamic attire. However, be cautious because there may be random beggars approaching you to scam you while you're sitting in the courtyard at night. They may claim to be Syrian refugees, but I believe they are part of larger syndicates trying to scam tourists. Avoid talking to them and just ignore them.

"Situated on a rocky peninsula on the Black Sea, the more than 3,000-year-old site of Nessebar was originally a Thracian settlement (Menebria). At the beginning of the 6th century BC, the city became a Greek colony. The city’s remains, which date mostly from the Hellenistic period, include the acropolis, a temple of Apollo, an agora and a wall from the Thracian fortifications. Among other monuments, the Stara Mitropolia Basilica and the fortress date from the Middle Ages, when this was one of the most important Byzantine towns on the west coast of the Black Sea. Wooden houses built in the 19th century are typical of the Black Sea architecture of the period. "

The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, one of the most iconic Eastern Orthodox churches in Sofia, is an imposing Neo-Byzantine building with richly decorated copper and gold domes. It's one of the largest cathedrals on the Balkan Peninsula, and a popular place of worship for Bulgarian Christians. The cathedral is also home to an underground museum full of religious artifacts and memorabilia from centuries past.
Stunning cathedral from the inside and outside. It is placed in the middle of the city center that is rich in numerous historic, religious, artistic and cultural sights. Beautiful old Cathedral with intricate carvings and breathtaking details. Very beautiful cathedral. One of the most remarkable from the exterior. A genuine marvel. Inside it is dark, I found a priest smoking, he yelled at me about taking a picture. I thought how ironic, if something is to desecrate a house of worship, certainly smoking would be worse than a picture. Inside, it's a bit more open, dark, and depressing. The Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky is a magnificent testament to Bulgarian history and religious heritage. Its awe-inspiring architecture, adorned with intricate details and golden domes, captivates visitors from afar. Stepping inside, one is enveloped in a sense of reverence and grandeur, as the cathedral's interior boasts stunning frescoes and ornate decorations. As a symbol of national pride, it stands as a must-visit landmark in Sofia, offering a glimpse into Bulgaria's rich cultural and spiritual legacy.

This cathedral has its own unique charm, which is both captivating and majestic.
It is essential to remember that this is a space for prayer and silent contemplation.
To record videos or take pictures you should pay a nominal charge at the entry.
It is without a doubt worthy to pay visit.
Enjoy!

Visiting the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on a frosty January morning at sunrise was a mesmerizing experience. The cathedral's architectural grandeur combined with the serene atmosphere created a captivating moment. The early light illuminated the intricate details, enhancing the beauty of this historical landmark. Overall, our visit left a lasting impression, and we thoroughly enjoyed the unique charm of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the tranquil winter dawn.

Patriarchal cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Sofia. The church monument of Saint Alexander Nevsky. It was built in 1908 and dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky and the Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 in honor of the liberation from the Turks after which Bulgaria gained statehood from the Ottoman Empire, but not full independence.

Beautiful church here in Sofia! It's definitely worth visiting. The architecture is grand and one of my favourite buildings that I've seen here as yet. Would highly recommended to see if you're visiting Sofia.

The Belgrade Fortress is a prominent landmark in Kalemegdan Park, overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The fortress has been destroyed more than 40 times throughout the centuries, making it one of the most fascinating places in Belgrade.
I didn't take many photos of the actual fortress but it was a great place to walk around. Views over the Danube are beautiful and there's lots of space. The park/surrounding area is also lovely

A very nice place for walking and running or just chilling out. The place is also suitable for kids.
The scenery is fantastic and enjoyable especially when the sun is rising.
There’s a war/military museum, a basketball area, dinosaurs exhibition and the fortress itself.

This is a great place to see - inside and around you can admire a lot of historical items - tanks, canons, swards and other types of arms from old times, clothes, glasses and a lot of other objects. The fortress is impressive and the view is really great. This is a place where I'd love to return.

Amazing park within a fortress. Enjoyed walking around and taking in the views. Make sure to visit all of the gates and the church. Has something for everyone: museums, walls, dinosaurs, cafes, towers, church's, gates, wells, playgrounds, walking paths, views and parks.

This fortress is really nice to visit, it is a 10 min walk from Republic Square. There are several entrances as you walk through the parks to get to it. In one side there is a tiled walk with animal pictures that surround the park you enter in to walk up the Fortress. It is free 😊 you see the local people hang out with their families. There is an attached small church Petr Church. It over looks the river.

One of the most beautiful places in Belgrade, especially during sunset. It's completely free entry. You can take a very long walk and have a nice time alone with yourself or with your family. There are plenty of places to sit and read a book or have a cup of coffee. I am so happy that we discovered this place, will definitely visit again. Also was amazed with military weapons at the entrance of the Belgrade Fortress.

Beautiful historical place. Military museum is cool with exciting exhibits too. Unfortunately Dino Park didn’t work. No entrance fee to fortress, everything is free to go.

The Belgrade Fortress is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Serbia's capital city. Steeped in history and surrounded by lush greenery, this fortress is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Belgrade. As a history enthusiast, I was in awe of the rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture that the fortress offers.
Upon entering the fortress, you'll be transported back in time. The ancient walls, towers, and gates stand as a testament to the city's resilience throughout the centuries. The blend of various architectural styles, from Byzantine to Ottoman, creates a unique and captivating atmosphere. It's fascinating to wander through the fortress, exploring its nooks and crannies, and imagining the stories that unfolded within these walls.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the panoramic views from the fortress. Perched high on a hill, overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the vistas are simply breathtaking. Whether you visit during the day or at dusk, the sight of Belgrade's cityscape stretching out before you is mesmerizing. Don't forget your camera, as this is a picture-perfect spot!
The fortress also houses several museums and exhibits that delve deeper into Belgrade's history. From the Military Museum to the Museum of the City of Belgrade, there is something to satisfy every curiosity. These well-curated exhibitions offer a glimpse into the city's past, from its medieval origins to the turbulent times of World War II.
Furthermore, the grounds surrounding the fortress are a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Walking along the ramparts and enjoying the well-maintained gardens is a delightful experience. There are also plenty of benches and picnic spots where you can relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance. It's a great place to unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply seeking an awe-inspiring view, the Belgrade Fortress won't disappoint. The combination of its historical significance, architectural beauty, and panoramic vistas make it an unmissable attraction. I highly recommend allocating ample time to explore and truly appreciate this cultural gem.

Nice place to have a walk around. Lots of people about but of course it's a free park and it's Saturday afternoon. Good views from different parts of the fortress, a bit derelict in places hence the one star drop. Worth a look if you are in Belgrade.

Step back in time and explore Serbia's history at the Belgrade Fortress and Military Museum. Discover centuries-old architecture, stunning views of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and a collection of military artifacts (all for free). From medieval fortifications to modern weaponry, this journey offers a captivating glimpse into the nation's military heritage. A great day out for all the family.

The fort is huge. You can spend hours walking there and enjoying the views. A lot of the fort has been restored which makes the whole place super awesome. A large park has also been made inside the fort.

Very well maintained. It’s completely free entry. Best part is that sunset from here it’s just breathtaking. You can go to top platform to fort. But for there you need to pay 50 Dinnars . From that place I took awesome sunset photos and Timelapse.

Sadly the main attraction of the fortress was under renovation but i absolutely loved the time i spent here. Beautiful castle with many other attractions inside like the torture museum, dinosaur park, kalemegdan park, clock tower, military museum. I will visit it again another time i come to Belgrade because I really want to see it in its fully renovated glory.

Awesome historical site, a must visit. Wondrous place with a good atmosphere and vibes.
Located in Stari Grad, the fortress constitutes the specific historical core of the city. One of the most important representatives of their cultural heritage, it was originally protected right after World War II, among the first officially declared cultural monuments in Serbia. It was built in 297 BC, with an area of 66 hectares, or 160 acres.

Really nice fortress, it’s still in very good condition. It has several museums to visit in and around the area as well as a great view of the Sava and Danube rivers and the city. It was lots of fun, very educational and historical. I would definitely recommend checking out this fortress and the museum out.

The things that caught my attention the most in the castle were the arrangement of the military navy vehicles from old to new. The castle was built on a very large land and in a beautiful area. There were wonderful views, but for those who plan to go, I think going towards sunset is the best option because the day has a very clear view. you can catch the sunset.

I did not expect for it to be so beautiful. The fortress and park are at the hill, and the view from there is mind blowing. You can see sava river and Danube mix together. Park has benches to sit and enjoy the sunsets. Fortress is very beautiful and historic which adds to city center. Definitely a must visit

It's very beautiful place to visit with your family, is big, you can see Beograd from up the hill.Is a good place for a picnic and is free, we paid just the parking.

Very interesting place with lovely views over the Sava and Danube rivers’ confluence.
The history of the castle gives a better understanding of Serbia in general. Plus the fortress boasts very well preserved walls and the moat (used nowadays as a part of the military museum, exhibiting weaponry from various times).
Inside it’s mostly a park with some historical landmarks. Especially worth seeing are the Ruzica and Saint Petka Orthodox churches which demonstrate a pretty unique architecture and are considered the most loved holy places in the country.
Strongly recommend for a nice walk with immersion into thrilling history. Admission is free.

It should be one of the first destinations you should visit when you come to Belgrade. Located on a hill rising at the point where the Danube and Sava rivers meet, Belgrade Fortress has a magnificent view. There are many artifacts and parks from the Ottoman Empire inside the fortress.
The Kulmer Palace Museum is dedicated to personal objects from former lovers, with accompanying short synopses of their relationships. It is a quirky and interesting museum that is well worth a visit for its unique collection.
I think this museum is quite unique in terms of theme. Each and every item in the museum has a story which will amuse and make you sad both at same time. Some stories are very touching and quite a collection of from everywhere in the world. I believe it's must visit in Zagreb, you can't hear stories of people everywhere.
Sonika Prakash — Google review
Do not hesitate to go to this museum if you like to read, like English and/or if you are into love stories. It’s a museum in which there are objects people have given them accompanied with the story of it. Some of them are truly emotional to read, and you will relate somehow with at least some of the stories (there are some about family, not only couples). Even though they say you take from 45min to 1h, I was so involved with the stories, I just lost track of time and spent 2h there, reading and understanding. There’s a book you can write there, it’s a great moment to let go, and there’s also a bar. Great experience, it was my first stop in Zagreb and I definitely say you shouldn’t skip it if you like reading!
Brunna Cocchi — Google review
What a cool concept. So simple, but so wonderful and very well implemented into a museum.
The ticket is 7€ and you'll spend between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
Stories about relationships that ended, whether they were from lovers, family or friends.
Some are funny, some are witty, some are meh, and some are heartbreaking.
Awesome museum, one of those that you'll remember.

*Baby stroller friendly location*. First I wasn’t sure to go or not. It was pouring rain in Zagreb and at first it was just a place to hide in to skip the rain. But ot turned out to be a must visit musuem. Lots of fun/touching/interesting past relationship stories. Would definitely recommend it. The girls in the reception are very polite and the cafe has good coffee.
Goksemin — Google review
This is a roving exhibit that goes around the world. The idea here is to exhibit items that signify love lost and tell their story. And these stories come from around the world.
Some of the stories are quite quirky while others are down right sad to read.
Wilson Foo — Google review
Emotional and tragic museum with a variety of stories. The exhibition is well made and with a lot of detail, but the place is really small so it can get crowded easily. Also the cafè next to it is cut, nonetheless the worker could be more friendly.
Robin — Google review
Not a typical museum. The personal stories were interesting, funny, touching, sad, weird, and gross at different points. I enjoyed my visit more than I expected. Cool souvenirs, too. I disagree with previous comments claiming that it's small. I read every story and felt like if there were more, it would've been too much
Natalia — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! From being on the verge of tears, laughing and being absolutely shocked. If you wander through the entire museum (which I recommend) it’ll take you about an hour. Cost is 50kn. Each sign is in English and Croatian but a visitor book is provided if you do not speak these languages. Toilets and a cafe inside the museum. Great gift shop, including a book which has more objects not in the museum.
Definitely recommend for anyone in Zagreb.
Tamika Green — Google review
A very surprising museum. First of all, relatively cheap, with prices being €7 for adults and just €5,50 for students. I spent a solid 1+ hour inside and instead of my expectations of the museum just being about toxic or broken romantic relationships, the museum actually sheds light on very interesting other themes in an interesting way. The exhibition consists of personal stories that revolve around anything from romance, parental love, family dilemmas/losses to dramatic losses as a result of war. All in all a very interesting and 'enjoyfull' experience and an assured recommendation for anyone looking for an interesting/alternative museum in Zagreb :)

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia, is a profoundly moving and innovative cultural institution. It showcases a poignant collection of personal objects donated by individuals from across the globe, each accompanied by heartfelt narratives detailing the stories of love and loss. This museum creates a powerful space for reflection on the complexities of human relationships and the universal experiences of heartbreak and healing.

A really unique museum experience. Not much to do apart from stand and read which is difficult when the museum is crowded but I’d still recommend visiting. It’s in a very cute part of the town and the workers are very nice.

Pretty different museum. We loved it!
Went there on a weekday around 7:30pm. It had maybe 10 other people there with us. There are some pretty cool stories and artifacts from all over the world which made the whole experience worth it for us.
I think it's a pretty cool concept that can be replicated all over the world. I like that they do traveling expositions as well.
Diego Salas — Google review
Wow. What a cool concept for a museum! There are moments of heartbreak, laughter and reflection and I’m sure we can all relate to something there. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the collections but reading the stories behind them, from all over the world, really made me feel connected. And for only €7, why would you not go?
Amanda Moss — Google review
Some make you angry. Some make you laugh out loud. Some are deeply moving.
A surprisingly heartfelt and genuinely interesting museum that I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone, and will be going again if I am ever in Zagreb. Fantastic!

The exhibition at the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb is fascinating. It thoughtfully displays objects symbolising the conclusion of various relationships, whether between an individual, friends, family, or even a person and an object. As you explore the exhibit, you come across diverse items, each accompanied by a story that unveils the depth and meaning behind it. The museum provides a distinct perspective on human connections, capturing the intricacies of relationships, beautifully curated and emotionally resonant, offering a unique insight into the complexity of relationships.
Carlotta Olympia Pompei — Google review
Firstly, the museum's name is incredibly appealing. I was captivated by this exhibit to the extent that I immersed myself in nearly all the narratives. I wholeheartedly endorse this museum.
However, my museum experience was somewhat disrupted by noisy fellow visitors. It would greatly enhance the ambiance if a "Please Maintain Silence" sign were placed, considering that the primary attraction here is the written word.
Karishma — Google review
A very different experience, one of happy and sad all mixed. The stories…some are devastating, some are the harsh truth, some are just lovely memories or memoirs. We all really enjoyed it, teens included.
Heather B — Google review
The museum is cool, all fancy inside with brochures in many languages. The stuff on display has stories in Croatian and English. They sell lots of things too. I thought it'd be funny stories about relationships, but only a few were like that. Most were about war, losing family, and sad tales. It made me really sad reading all that stuff.
For hikers, Plitvice Lakes National Park offers a variety of trails that wind through alpine forests and meadows, past sparkling lakes and waterfalls. The park also contains 16 freshwater lakes that are popular for rafting and kayaking. The park was the site of armed confrontation during Croatia's war of independence in the early 1990s, but has since been renovated as a source of economic wealth for the region. Today, visitors can explore hiking trails and enjoy beautiful natural scenery.
One of the most majestic places I have visited in my life, the winter landscape is beautiful, as well as the paths to walk for hours with a different landscape every 3 meters.
The waterfalls are incredible and it is a super good space to go with pets and be there for at least 3 or 4 hours touring the place.
The staff was very friendly

This is without a doubt the best place I have ever been. Nature is wonderful, here you can see its pure beauty. The place is fantastic, the staff is helpful, there are small restaurants, gift shops, restrooms in the park. The boat fee is included in the entrance fee. I recommend route C, which is not challenging, the total distance is eight kilometers, with a negligible elevation gain. Cool buses will take you back to the main entrance at the end of the visit. 5*
Bal?zs Gr?f — Google review
The lakes were simply fantastic, the price is worth the visit, but I recommend mixing up the paths. We were there when the park opened, after the tour and going back to the entrance area we were very glad we went at 7 am.. the place was crowded.. a lot of tourists really. I recommend going as early as you can, if you want to visit calmly and are not too fond of crowds.
Marina Perin — Google review
Absolutely Stunning creation of Nature!! The hike is beautiful and offers wonderful views. The park has 2 entrances and both entrances have 4 routes to choose from. We entered from entrance 2 and did route H which is quite similar to route C from entrance 1, it is almost 9kms and requires 4 - 6 hours. In the peak season, a ticket costs 40 Euro for an adult and it’s better to buy tickets in advance. Ticket price includes the bus and boat ride.
Trail is well maintained and has clear directions as per routes. It was a bit crowded due to summer vacation, so try going as early as possible in the morning.
Wear comfortable shoes, hiking shoes are recommended though. Carry enough water and some snacks, though you can also buy inside the park.
Definitely worth a visit!!

A very very beautiful national park. Worth visiting.
Better to go early in the morning or afternoon to see the water color as aqua blue/green. By evening since the sun starts setting in the west, it won't reflect on water and may miss the beauty of this magical place.
Trek route C or H is best as it covers both lower and upper lakes. There are beautiful waterfalls in the upper lakes. It will take a minimum of 6 hrs to cover this route.

I'm always happy to come back here.

I can imagine it gets crowded in the summer but on a rainy day in April is was empty, calm, misty and incredibly beautiful. The park itself is intelligently set up, with well-maintained paths and platforms that swirl in-between and right up to the waterfalls without clashing with the landscape. In fact, the park seems to be a model of how to organize such a site in ways which make it ecologically responsible, easily accessible for a lot of people, with well thought out branching paths, sufficient rest stops that are discreetly integrated in the setting and plenty of (silent) boats/shuttles.

It is a beautiful natural park. The views are just amazing! It has very colourful landscapes and lakes. It is definitely worth the visit and to spare a lot of time. Unfortunately I did not had the opportunity to camp for a longer time but now have seeing what I have there, I’d definitely think about staying more time in a next opportunity. I went as couple and during summer which is allegedly the best time to see the crystals on the water reflected by the sunlight.

Spectacular! The park and the lakes are the Moseley amazing lakes I've ever seen. The color is unreal, the waterfall are stunning. The park is crowded, even early in the morning but very organized. Attention that you also need to pay for parking separately.
Yuval Mohl — Google review
Beautiful. There are several hike options but it can get very busy during the holiday season, even in early September. The trails are quite narrow and you could get held up if one person stops to take pictures.
The cafeterias within the National Park do not offer much choice, especially if you are a vegetarian.
Gopika Avanoor — Google review
I’d like to give this place 5 stars just based off its incredible beauty. But, the park has a bit of a bad design for being able to see it without being overcrowded, which the design and setup of the park causes. There’s basically one narrow boardwalk through the various levels of the lakes, which have no railing. So you really can’t stop anywhere and just take in the view or get pictures that aren’t horribly rushed. They also have a ferry system that appears to be badly overwhelmed with extremely long lines (we didn’t take it because of those lines). Other than that, this park is absolutely gorgeous. Crystal clear blue/green/turquoise waters everywhere. Many waterfalls and overflows and lush green trees. Just absolutely picturesque. But other than that boardwalk, there’s not really much else to see or do, no other trails or anything. There is also timed entry, so either purchase tickets beforehand, or be prepared to wait until the next time available. All in all, if you’re in Croatia, you should definitely go check out this park. Crowds notwithstanding, it’s still a pretty cool place and extremely beautiful.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We went here at winter time and the price for the entry was only 10 euro per person, kinds were free since they were 5 and 6. Wonderful place for hikes and be in oneness with mother earth. Unbelievably serene and mind-blowing.
Upper lakes are less crowded and quiet while the lower ones are thriving with tourists. Plan your day and start early to enjoy the serenity of the park.

I split the trip into two days - one day for the upper and one for the lower lakes. I highly recommend splitting it up. I also did the end of day and early day to avoid the crowds which was perfect. This is truly a magical place with just breathtaking scenery.
H. Rai — Google review
The most beautiful part is the first lake plus the overview of the waterfalls. The rest of the park is nice but for what it is, it's overpriced and overcrowded.
A lot of people are happy with just seeing the waterfalls so they could separate hikers from sightseers to fix some of the overcrowding.
David Oskarsson — Google review
This is one of those place that you must visit in Europe. The colour of lakes is just magical. You can choose 5 trails on different difficulty level and distance. You can go there with kids but I think that it could be dificult with stroller. On trails you can use a boat or buses (on some stages). There are a lot of stops with toilets and even fast food. On the stop next to the boats there is tap with a water that you can pour to bottle. From the cons: huge crowd. The amount of people is crazy there. The price - 40EUR per person - very expensive. Moreover you must pay for parking, too. It is not included in the ticket price to lakes. You must buy ticket in advance, tickets are sold for particular hours.

A must go if you're in Croatia. Pick the longest route, it's not a difficult stroll. There is a boat ride in the middle, but it is very smooth and relaxing. Experiencing the layers of this beautiful green-blue park is definitely and experience you won't forget. The longest route could take up to 6 hours, but if you're not taking your time you can easily complete it in 4 hours.

Free parking at this time of the year (early march) for my motorhome. The facilities are great for coffee and food. There is a boat ride or you can walk, I took the boat but walked back. The sun was out so made the scenery extra special. The lakes and various waterfalls are impressive. There are nice pathways and clear signs. Everything was brilliant, highly recommend. I will be back.

A must visit paradise in Croatia and one could easily get lost for half a day to a couple of days depending on the interest. At least half a day in a rush to get a taste of paradise is a must.
There are 2 entrances with a good number of parking places which seemed not crowded during October maybe in season it could be packed. Entrance tickets and parking was way below what I expected for this gem of nature. During the season it is a different price but worth paying. I do not understand why some reviewers complain about the price when it is so much of a treasure.
Overall the park is well maintained with good hiking trails, clean restrooms and good cafes and restaurants.
The park can get crowded but as a sensible tourist one has to plan and not blame the crowds on the park. The boardwalks can be packed with tourists hanging to take pics and not respecting others, just be mindful of this crowd
We parked at the first entrance and did the long trail - K which includes the boat ride and option to take the shuttle back to the parking lot. The trail starts off at the lower lakes with views of the amazing waterfalls before heading through the various trails, boardwalks and then the upper lakes.
If time permits I would recommend adding another trail to enjoy more of the views.
Near entrance 1 there is a really good restaurant for an amazing lunch or dinner. The day we visited it was not crowded and we were able to enjoy a peaceful lunch.
Overall a must visit park for all seasons.

Most beautiful waterfalls I have seen anywhere. Absolutely stunning. We did the full loop over the lower and upper lakes and it was about 12 miles. It took us 5 or so hours total with a stop for lunch.
We did this in March so the crowds were easy to handle. Particularly away from the two different entrances.

Magical place. Makes you stop in owe and wonder.
The trick is to visit in low season (we went in April) and arrive early (we took the first boat from entrance 2 @8.30 and were the only people on it!). Then as we walked there was almost no one there and so it felt as if we had the whole park to ourselves.
Marta Walters — Google review
The park is amazing. Well worth the trip even in the off season. We visited in late March and there was hardly anyone here. The park was really beautiful, even though the trees had not leafed out yet. We spent two days in the park and we were glad we had the second day.
Corey Reimer — Google review
Definitively over crowded (also in March) but a must-see when in Croatia! The upper lakes are more beautiful than the lower ones, so pay attention when they are accessible as they are closed in winter. Alltogether something for your bucket list like the Grand Canyon or the Eiffel Tower.
The atmospheric Old Town of Ljubljana is home to a variety of accommodation, from rooms in central hotels to apartments and villas high up on the hill overlooking the city.
The apartment is easy to find after arriving at the bus station. Across the bridge is The Central market and all the places are at walking distance. Lot of eating place around. Apartment is cozy,

Great central location, great service. The staff were very responsive to help us with any issues. The room is compact and comfortable. The kitchen is a bit of a tight squeeze but is well equipped.

Great location and great price. Everything you'd need. The bedroom is separate to the main room and it has a kitchenette, it is centrally located too with a large choice of bars and restaurants close by. Even though they are close we never had any noise problems. I don't think I would go back to Ljubljana again as I think I have experienced everything it has to offer but if I did go back I would stay here again.

U will not find a better location for a city tour. Great starting place for exploring the city, especially old town. Yet, noise levels at night are very low. No problem getting sleep here. We had Appartment 2 - it had everything we hoped for.

Caves are stunning as well as Predjamski castle. Shuttle bus to the castle start at 10am although castle is open from 9am. Timetable isn't on the web site.

Awesome. Amazing journey. Don't let the "talk" of it being "Disneyland like" deture you from going. The cave "rooms" are HUGE. Incredible complex and a highlight of our trip while in Slovenia. ( €25.80 p/p )

An epic tourist attraction from ticket office sales, to the commentated cave experience and subsequent retail options.
Lake Bled is a stunningly beautiful scenic lake surrounded by mountains and forest, with an island that houses a historic church. The greatest attraction of the lake is its exquisite blue-green color. Mild thermal springs warm the water to a swimmable 22C (72F) from June through August. There are numerous places to rent boats, paddle boards, and take photos of the lake from all around.
Stunning place with a fair bit to do, close to lots of activities as well. Row a boat out, do some swimming, rent a bike and travel out, eat some food and relax, a lovely place to spend a couple of days.

This is an exceptional art of the nature for sure. It is good that I went there during winter because in summer it is packed. Take the small boat to the island and enjoy every moment whilst you are there.

A wonderful place, a fairytale.
If you are in Slovenia or somewhere near, you should go there. Beautiful lake, nice castle and in the middle of the lake you have the only isle that Slovenia has. Only one but magical.

Beautiful scenery, lovely boat ride, nice little wander. We arrived early around 0900 and was much better for photos and for the heat, when we were leaving around 1300 it was much busier and very humid.

Truly one of my favorite places in Slovenia. You need to take the boat to go to the island. It's a wooden boat driven by man power. You just sit there and enjoy the view and the moment. The island is delightful. The church (one of 3000 in Slovenia) is beautiful and if you ring the church bell you get your wish. You can also go the the Church Tower that I skipped as I have a fear of height, my friends did and loved the view. The ice-cream shop has a great selection and I loved the raspberry cheesecake brand.
Truly a must visit

Beautiful lake with amazing blue water. Rather smaller but still fascinating. We have visited it during early spring time with nice sunny weather which was added value. The little island in the middle is very picturesque and ideal for making photos. The best view is from higher point. Recommended.

As majestic and beautiful as it is down in the pictures! This is our second trip and our timing could not have been better! No tourists, no crowds! We visited on a Sunday in February, streets were empty but boats to the island and all attractions were open. Weather was very nice! We enjoyed a great quiet walk all around the lake of 6km path. We took the Pletna to the island, had coffee there, walked around and enjoyed the magnificent scenery! A beautiful and a must see attraction if you have never been. Even in the winter, it is beautiful!

Gorgeous place. Do note that in order to get to the house on the hill, you either need to hike 15 min, walk up the road or take a buggy. The buggy is expensive, so do bring sturdy shoes if you plan you walk all the way up.

Nice scenery but very overrated compared to other lakes . The gondola ride to the island is super expensive ($18 per person ). Better to rent the boat yourself but be careful to not go close to these gondolas as they are ready to charge your 100 euros if you even touch them . The island is nice but again overpriced for a small church with wishing bell and a small bell tower . The bled fort is also overrated .

Life goal retire here. Reminds me of my grandfather’s cabin in the mountains of New York, USA. Ah it was so beautiful. Water really is a blue green color. It’s not camera filtering trick in photos. And you can see straight through it a good 4ft deep. Absolutely amazing scenery. Must visit the island and get ice cream and take photos.

Beautiful lake with a castle (church) at the middle.
There are few beaches around the lake, and you can even rent a Sap, or small boats and reach the castle's island at the middle.
You should really visit this amazing place.

Looks like something out of a fairy tale and is in a very serene setting. It obviously is is a popular vacation destination by virtue of all the nice lodging going around the lake. There is a trail around the lake, but we chose to take a boat to the island, then hike up to the castle. But it into a very big lake and there were people walking and biking around at a leisurely pace. It is every bit as beautiful as all the pictures you have probably seen.

Photos and videos taken in May 2023. I took a bus from Ljubljana to Bled. The bus ticket was so cheap during the weekend. I bought it from bus ticket office in Ljubljana and paid €2.20 (included 60 cents processing fee). Bus ticket from Bled to Ljubljana was €1.60, bought directly from the driver.
It was raining when I arrived at Bled. Eventhough my pants and shoes were wet from the rain, I was very happy that I visited Bled, beautiful lake with amazing mountains view.
Pula Arena, a vast Roman amphitheater in the city of Pula, boasts an underground display dedicated to ancient olive oil and wine production. The town itself showcases a rich historical tapestry, featuring Roman and Venetian architecture that reflects the rule of various leaders throughout its existence. From the Forum to the Roman Catholic Cathedral and remnants from post-World War II, Pula offers a multitude of monuments and architectural wonders that speak volumes about its past.
A stunning amphitheater that’s the best preserved of its kind. Many famous performances have been hosted here in recent times. It’s got super clean toilets and is surrounded by local coffees houses a few minutes walk. From the top seats you can see the sea. Parking is good quality but limited and super busy.

Great venue to view. We didn't buy tickets to go in but simply walked around it and looked inside. It is just mind-blowing the building is already there for more than 2000 years. Although it was a hot day you have quite some shading here and there and always a nice bar around for some refreshments.

The Pula Arena is one of the 6 largest remaining magnificent old roman amphitheatres. Located in the centre of Pula, it's easy to find. Access fee applies yet a walk around the structure will also give a good impression.

Loved my visit to this amazing Roman amphitheatre. It's incredible how it's in such good condition after so many thousands of years. Its amazing how the Romans constructed such a massive and impressive theatre. Highly recommend.

It is very similar structure to the Rome Colosseum. It's big and beautiful place to visit. It's crowded on weekends. There is a chance that the parking place is full especially on weekends. So you will have to park somewhere else in that case. You require a ticket to enter the arena. But honestly, its not at all required. You can see the full insed of the arena from outside for free. You just need to walk up near the backside church and from the fence you get a look of the whole place from inside. So don't buy tickets for inside. You won't see anything special by going in... Its the same view. But the place is very nice to visit with friends and family.
MIHIR SATHE — Google review
Spectacular and well-preserved ancient time monument. However, the entrance was €10 and they don’t provide any information brochures about the place. Genuinely, I wouldn't recommend buying the ticket to go inside. There’s not that much of a difference in the view of the arena that you can see from the outside. The exhibition underground is quite poor too.

I was shocked to tell you the truth how this Pula Arena is so look alike Colosseum in Rome. Beautiful architecture near the sea. I didn’t buy tickets and didn’t enter the Arena itself only went around, believe me it’s great place for like a few million photos. When I was there it was 29 Celsius and clear sky, I wonder how it looks and what atmosphere Pula Arena has when it’s raining or just cloudy weather. For sure Pula is great place to visit for vacation and Pula Arena is just a reminder of how capable was people very long time ago that they built a structure that stands till today. Enjoy you stay in Pula.

It was our first time seeing this historical place. We paid €10 each which we thought was a little over priced. It would have been nice to see more written information. The area is a little run down and there is not a lot of parking.
If your in the area check it out but I wouldn’t suggest driving to far to see it.

Beautiful piece of human history, a 2000+ years old Roman arena, surprisingly well preserved.
There's an entrance fee (90 kn at the moment), but you can simply walk around it and see the inside from every angle.
However, if you wish to see it from the inside I'd recommend visiting it during one of various events that are often hosted there (gladiator fights with actors, concerts, etc.), as that's when it most comes alive.
Aleksandar Sarkanjac — Google review
Entrance fee: 10 Euro regular, 5 Euro student. Not very busy at the time of oir visit. You can freely walk around the arena. Don't miss to go down to the underground area where you can have a look at the different vessels and the history behind it. It's also lot cooler underground if you need to escaoe from the heat for few minutes. Not as big as the colosseum in Rome of course but still worth the price if you're visiting the city.

Very busy even on a weekday, but cool to see the ruins in the middle of the city. Parking nearby is nearly impossible. Lots of little shops around to check out and within walking distance from the centre.
Gillian Rumsey — Google review
Nice place to check out however, not overly impressed, at least not in relation with the price requested for entry.
Plus: the fact that it’s offering a descent into the underground of the roman amphitheater. You get to see some interesting machinery for producing wine and oil as well as antique amorphas. The underground is quite small however.
Minus: the 10 euro entry ticket is extremely expensive for what the place has to offer compared to other amphitheaters I have seen.
Ana Neagoe — Google review
The entrance fee is currently €10 per person. However, it is absolutely worth it. You can experience how it must have felt being a Gladiator standing in this arena fighting these vicious animals. Just amazing!

Enjoyed sightseeing the Amazing Amphitheatre in Pula which is a rather intact and complete historical arena. It is rather impressive, to be standing out there, amidst such an old and well preserved historical structure. Our tour group got to Pula from Rijeka. Go downstairs to view and read about some exhibits. Additionally, when you are outside in the arena and able, take the stairs on either side, which allows you to reach the top of the spectator stands for a better view, so as to take more panaromic photographs.

The Piazza Unità d'Italia (Piazza Grande) is a large, impressive square in the heart of Venice that is flanked by some of the city's grandest palazzi. The square is a beautiful triumph of Austro-Hungarian town planning and contemporary civil pride and is especially beautiful when lit at night. The buildings around the piazza are all well maintained and look really nice during the day or at night when they are illuminated with blue lights.
Beautiful square. It is often said to be Europe's largest square located next to the sea. The square was built during the period when Trieste was the most important seaport of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and includes the city's municipal buildings and other important palaces. Amazing experience. My tour guide, Michele, was very knowledgeable and painted a vivid picture of the discovery of the caves. His English is great and learning about the formations was really interesting. It was a magical experience and this has been my favorite experience in Italy, maybe even my life. These caves should be one of the natural wonders in the world. Also, the surrounding town is beautiful, you can take a nice stroll alongside the river. Try the dishes with truffles in them! Also, vincisgrassi (the regional version of lasagne) is delicious. The locals are so friendly, but some of them don’t speak English so it’s a great opportunity to practice your Italian! My heart is still in the mountains there.
P.S. if you try to get to the Valadier Temple (Tempio del Valadier) the google map location for it is not accurate for the start of the trailhead. You will have to go about double the distance from the caves than what it says (the location of the cave on the side of the mountain). It will be on the right side of the road and about 800 meters from the caves. It is walkable, but a rather long walk on the side of the road to get to the starting point. But, it is worth it!

Even though it was quite busy, the visit was well organised. What we did not like is when we bought the tickets, it was advertised that you could follow an audio tour using the app instead of the guided tour.
We liked this option as we were with young children a d their attention span for a guided tour is limited, especially in a language they don't speak.
When we got up to the entrance of the caves; they said this was not possible and we had to wait an hour (!) for the English guided tour.
The guide took a tremendous amount of time to explain each crack and sediment difference so we decided to walk on and tagged along to two Italian guided groups before we were 'caught' and told to stay with the guide.
Our round took 1,5 hours; I did not dare to ask how long the normal tour would have taken.
The cave itself is nice, well lit and the path is fenced and very accessible even for young children. There is only one route to follow so it's not possible to get lost.
Otto Ramaker — Google review
The caves themselves are amazing! The company running them are running a slick operation and probably making a decent profit and in some cases have put profit before customers and this is why I've only given 3 stars... The buses that take you to the caves from the car park are mainly standing space with very few seats, they packed them full and it's a hot and windy road. The most annoying part however is that photos are forbidden, even with no flash. The only reason for this is so they can sell tickets to the photo tour where you're allowed to take photos. There's no pricing for the photo tour online however so I can only assume it's extortionate.

Marmore Falls is an incredible man-made attraction consisting of three sections and boasting the title of the world's tallest artificial waterfall. With a height of 83 meters, it's a breathtaking sight to behold. However, the only downside is that its working hours are limited due to seasonal changes. Visitors can witness a small amount of water flowing continuously until high flow is scheduled for only a few hours in accordance with their timetable.
Gorgeous! Keep in mind the water is released twice a day only! See the schedule. A very nicely maintained park area! Suitable for kids of all ages (the Lower part / Inferiore). Would take around an hour+ to slowly walk around and enjoy. Parking (2€/h), nice food facilities and souvenires. Highly recommend.
Yulia Belskaya — Google review
Useful tips
Marmore is located near the city of Terni (which is ~1 hour by train from Rome). The park has two entrances. To the lower one it is more convenient to get from Terni by bus (on the Trenitalia website choose the stop Cascata delle Marmore), and to the upper one – by train (get off at Marmore stop). If you are that rare traveler from the Sulmona or L'Aquila, go straight to Marmore.
A train ticket gives a discount on a ticket to the park - 8€ instead of 10.
The park and waterfall schedule changes every month! Do not believe the reviews that say to arrive at 11, or at 15, or at 20 - check the schedule yourself on the official website!
The Lovers Balcony (the balcony behind the waterfall) is accessible only with a guided tour. There are only 30 places, so be sure to buy tickets in advance on the official website. The cost is 3€. You will meet near the lower viewpoint, and first the guide will tell you about the waterfall itself. If you do not speak Italian, you can either try your luck and ask to speak English (it helped us!), or go to Wiki (all the info is there). Then you'll go to the balcony itself. You get wet in a second!! You can buy a raincoat in the park for 1€, but I recommend bringing your own reusable one so you don't have to worry about the think flimsy plastic one. If you also have shoe covers, it's perfect :)) The tour lasts an hour and ends somewhere halfway between the upper and lower viewpoints. Being inside the waterfall is a very unusual experience, I liked it :)
From the lower viewpoint you can see the entire waterfall, from the upper one you can see only one cascade, but closer. So both are spectacular, but in different ways. The path from the upper viewpoint to the lower one takes, by park estimates, 20 minutes, back it's 35.
The guide said that from route 4 (sentiero 4) there is a very good view, but we did not have time to check. He also recommended sentiero 2.
There is rafting in the park!

Waterfalls really impressive. We arrived just 20 minutes before “switching off” water, so paid half price ticket. Water closing actually takes at least 30 minutes. The only thing we didn’t like: very inefficient organization of ticket sales: tickets office is at far end of parking, good way from entrance. People who didn’t notice messy signs pointing tickets office and go directly to entrance, need to turn back and walk all the way back again to get tickets.
Baiba Miezere — Google review
Beautiful place 😍
It’s difficult to believe that these waterfalls are man-made. The tallest one is 83 meters.
The only problem is the timing when the waterfalls start working.
There is always small amount of water. And then by the schedule, they turn on high flow for few hours.
Since now the season is over, working time is limited. However, the schedule published on the website is not updated.

The adult ticket is 12€. When flow is at its lowest, the rocks can be seen through the falls. Prior to the flow being fully reopened, a long siren sounds!

Amazing waterfalls. Artificial made by the Romans. Beautiful park. We started at the top. We arrived at 10 o clock. Waterfalls starts at 11 o clock. We walked down to 1, 2, 4 and back to the top.

Beautiful series of waterfall, the largest one being really massive and impressive. Well maintained paths! Can get very wet, slippery and muddy so wear appropriate clothing.
We went here in winter and it was really cool but it is probably absolutely stunning in summer or spring!

Beautiful to see that this is 2300 years old and is also used for generating electricity nowadays! From May 5th 2023 parking prices are doubled, so it's not €5,- but € 10,- a day!
When walking up and down at a normal speed with taking pictures, it'll take you approximately 3 hours. Watch the timetables as the waterfall does not always work!
And one tip: also check if the buses are driving.... We had the down walk first, wanted to go by bus to the top, but lady from info said that the buses didn't drive. So we took the 600 steps stairs up in 30°C.

It was a astonishing experience. The view was perfect. You must visit the web site before going there to check the water release times. There were several different routes offering different views. You can park the car easily either to the parking lots just across the ticket office for 2€/hour or 5 minutes walking distance parking lot 8€ until end of the day.

it was great but make sure to check working and water release hours in advance!
The Aquarium of Cattolica is a large marine life center with over 100 tanks showcasing a variety of sea creatures including sharks, stingrays, penguins, and otters. Visitors can attend feeding times for these animals while admiring the beauty of the exhibits. While there are some cute programs available at an additional cost, such as animal figures in the gift shop, they may be overpriced and not all animals on display are real.
It is very interesting, especially for the kids. The staff is very helpful (we were late the day when we had the tickets, and they offered us to come next day (for free, cos we already payed once) so we can see all of it and don't need to hurry up.

Two words: Bull sharks. Magnificent beasts. To see them floating around is just mesmerizing. Worth going only to see them. General experience was good also. Nice exhibition of fish, learning new fact and reasonable price.

Larger dogs are not allowed, not even with muzzles - but small ones are welcome, that's really nonsense, as larger ones are far more socialised, and everything is easily accessible.
As there are many tourists, there could be more english panels with descriptions.
Overall the aquarium is wonderful.

Kind of rubbish place. I've been literally robbed: 70 euros for 2 adults and 2 children, when something like this is in the UK would not cost more than £35 with a family ticket.
The place is for most of its part inaccessible to impaired and disabled person. It's also poorly maintained (rubbish everywhere, gums, ashes) and the staff almost unwilling to work.
The entrance was so distressing and unfriendly which I was tempted to run away.
The worse of all is that being on holiday I clearly was not having a printer and the guys were kind of not keen to let me in because they were not able to use their scanner on a mobile device.
An overall visit could last no more than 2.5 hours, with the best being only the one with fishes. The new entry, built in 2016 is kind of joke, with some posters and some plastic animals.
Absolutely not worth all that money. A place like this should cost no more than 7 euro per person.

Our kids they enjoy the tour, they discover and see other creatures in the world. Maybe they can plant more trees on Meadow its too hot.

This is one of the most popular place in the area so a little planning is needed!
First of do not visit the park in peak hours which are between 12 - 15.
Come as early as possible or at 16 (plan about 2h to see everything).
Buy tickets online to skip the queue.
Do not plan to eat here as there are to many people with the same idea, instead you can get food at plenty of restaurants nearby that also have better food.
Take your time in the aquarium (blue pavilion) as that us the highlight. People move fast so if you wait a minute you can usually get a great view.
Parking can be scarce in the area so if you cant find a spot you can try to park in the streets and walk there.
Pricing is a bit on the high end but children love it so it is worth it as long as it is not to crowded. Also buyin online the tickets are cheeper by up to 20%
I would recommend visiting the aquarium on a thursday or friday.
4 stars as it was a bit pricey and some areas are a bit run down.

A little peicey, but personnel is helpful, area big offering shade, good location near parking and beaches.
Good for families with kids of different age.
Best one is shark building, only bad it's without wheelchair access.
The dinosaur outdoor area is good addition.
We spent around 2 hours here.

We loved the visit. The shark tank is amazing. We watched great white shark so closely. You can get a stamp and return during the day. Outdoor Dinosaur park is also great.

Aquarium Very good although abit disappointing that the walk through tunnel was quite shallow above, so not the full experience of the fish above you. Seemed a little expensive for entry for what was there. Cafe food not that great so take a picnic. The best bit was the looking through the eye of an insect at how they see things, that was amazing 👏

So many animal not looking , so many animal just plastic. But unblock beauty Memory, and unforgettable.
The personal friendly, but the buffet. And all high price.
I little bit waiting more, but is ok.

It is lovely overall but apart from the fish area there is not much to visit in other halls.
with the same ticket you can enter multiple days in the same day, if you wanna see the otters please go early, we went around 4pm and they all went to sleep.
Cool place to visit for children but not stroller friendly because there are a looooot of stairs.
Try to get the ticket online to avoid a long queue at the ticket office.

The Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi is a historic church and Christian pilgrimage site. It is situated on a hillside and features remarkable Gothic architecture adorned with medieval artwork. Originally built as an ancient hospital, the Palazzo del Monte Frumentario, it now houses two separate churches stacked on top of each other. UNESCO recognizes this architectural masterpiece as a World Heritage Site since 2000.
This cathedral is an awe-inspiring place! All the frescos by Giotto are masterpieces. The place is steeped into history, religion and significance. Well worth the daily trip from Rome.
Hugo Pedro-Martins — Google review
A tranquil beautiful place. The building was quite overwhelming in its quiet magnificence. So disappointed not to be able to take photos but totally understood. The ceilings around the altar are so breathtaking in their beauty. The architecture and different painted scenes are complex and overwhelming in the skill seen. Some of the best I have witnessed in my journey to Rome and Assissi. Italy's architectural gifts are blessed. The crypt where the remains of St Francis lies is small well lit staffed and busy. There are pews to rest upon to enjoy moments of quiet reflection and candles can be purchased which are lit after one's departure. The views from outside the Basilica are far reaching and splendid. A place to hold in the heart.

The Basilica of St. Francis is marvellous and mystical place, bringing together a number of renaissance masterpieces and an extraordinary architectonic complexity. Cimabue, Giotto, the Lorenzetti brothers, Simone Martini – the greatest artists of the 14th Century, have painted frescoes on the walls and ceilings of this place. An obligatory destination for believers and non-believers alike, appreciating art and architecture.

We enjoyed walking the streets of the little village of Assisi.
Assisi was the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in 1208.
Papal Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi was where St. Francis was born and died. The Basilica consists of an upper and lower sanctuary, where St. Francis is buried. The church is decorated with gorgeous geometric designs, frescoes painted in many colors, some with gold stars on a blue painted background.
The best is to hire a private guide, and I recommend this, to understand the historical significance of this holy site,
but I used my phone to get the right info.

This was my second time to come here, and the experience is surreal. The serenity of the place, the architecture to marvel at, everything comes together. A place to go for the religious. Take time to visit and reflect on the life of Saint Francis.

The Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is a truly awe-inspiring place. The architectural beauty and grandeur of the basilica are simply breathtaking. The spiritual atmosphere and rich history make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a profound and moving experience. A remarkable testament to the legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi.
Erik Hagen Nymoen — Google review
A beautiful church with an interesting history. It was built in the 13th century on a hill where death sentences were carried out, known as Hell's Hill. Later the name was changed to Paradise Hill (after the canonization of St. Francis). Here is the tomb of St. Francis.
When visiting the basilica, it is worth strolling the streets of Assisi. However, only 8 km away (approx. 20 minutes by car) there is another Basilica with an atmospheric, tiny church inside, rebuilt by St. Francis.

Such a holy and magnificent cathedral to visit. This was one of the most emotional visits. You can feel the presence of the saints in this cathedral. You feel safe and peaceful.
It’s full of valuable objects from the ancient times.
I wished that we all could be like Saint Francesco!

A historic and amazing basilica, obviously a must visit while you are in Assisi. Must visit both the Inferiore (lower) and Superiore (upper) basilica areas. The Inferiore piazza is quite large as captured in these pictures. The basilica superiore is so peaceful and serene, true to the nickname of Assisi, the city of peace, no wonder a UNESCO a World heritage site. If you have only a day to spend here, would recommend visiting the basilica in the evening hours, as you can make a the most the most out of it with the spectacular views during the sunset hours from up top of the whole area and the valley.
Localizer — Google review
Beautiful sanctuary, it is really amazing to walk around and see how beautiful it is inside. It has high and lower levels. In the lower level, you can find the tomb of Saint Francis de Assisi. It was the most spiritual place I visited recently. There is also a shop downstairs you need to go straightforward up to the end of the high level then take the stairs to go down. To find the Basilica you have to walk 15 minutes but there are a lot of shops around and restaurants, a good tip is to go early in the morning to enjoy the place and walk through the medieval small roads. You can find parking inside the town or outside in the public parking. Really amazing place!

Italia in Miniatura is a theme park that showcases small-scale models of famous Italian buildings, including the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and Portiuncula Chapel. Additionally, there are models of European structures and rides for visitors to enjoy. The park offers an intricate and accurate depiction of Italy's architecture and provides a unique perspective on the country's history. A visit to Italia in Miniatura is highly recommended for those who appreciate miniature things and have an interest in Italian culture.
Very beautiful park. The miniatures were very impressive and detailed. Good for both old and young - my parents and I had a great time, and stayed for 6 hours at the park. The few other attractions beside the miniature of Italy is enough for a whole day of fun.

We felt like a bit of a change from visiting the beach so we found this place. A little bit outside Rimini we arrived to find ample paid parking (3€ per day). We then went in quite quickly without queues, probably due to covid. We spent about 45 minutes walking around the part of the park with the miniature building from all over Italy which were well made and interesting for us as we have visited many of the places. We then wondered round to see what else the park offered, not much! We took a ride on the Pinocchio ride which took about 2 minutes and the story was told only in Italian and felt very dated. Maybe for very young Italian kids it would be OK. Then we went on the boat trip around mini Venice, quite nice but nothing amazing. We then went for the parrot experience which was 2 large beautiful parrots that sat on the metal cage screaming. Last but not least we took a 5 minute ride on the mono-rail around the park. All in all, I felt that the 22€ price tag was a bit steep and maybe for kids of between the ages of 4 and 10 it might be interesting but other than that pretty underwhelming!

I just love this place. I have been to other such theme parks, but this one will remain in my memory the most. More than 300 buildings in perfect construction. A display of history and present in one park. Very nicely decorated, suitable for children and groups. I recommend all parents to take their children to this phenomenal experience at least once.

If you want to visit every famous building in Europe then you can visit this very special park and you can visit Eiffel Tower and Pisa Tower in one day. There is a lot of stuff to look at and you can take photos with the small versions of famous buildings. If you are thirsty or if you are hungry, you can order some drink or food in the bistro.

We had an unforgettable day at Miniature Italia in Rimini! This place is a true gem, offering a captivating journey through Italy and around the world through intricate miniature monuments.
From the Leaning Tower of Pisa to the magnificent Taj Mahal, we explored iconic landmarks in incredible detail. It was like a global adventure all in one place.
The craftsmanship is outstanding, and whether you're an adult fascinated by architecture or a kid with a sense of wonder, Miniature Italia is a must-visit. It's an educational and awe-inspiring experience for all ages.

Great little park to visit with your kids. Buy the tickets online at least 1 day early, it's much cheaper. They have some fun attractions and the miniatures are very lovely.

The park is really nice. Kids will love it there. Lots of trains. At the time of our visit they only had one restaurant open, quality good and prices reasonable. I was shocked by the toilets, which are Turkish toilets.

Nice thematic park, for adults and children. The miniatures are well preserved (they don't look 30+ years old!) and some of them have also animations. There are also a few attractions like the train going above the park, the water trunks, the Pinocchio's attraction, and a few others.
The attractions are mainly thought for children and the place makes learning a fun activity. So it is a very nice place also for schools.
It is nice even for adults without childrens, even though these are a minority.
The park is relatively small and can be seen in 2 hours with a fast speed and no queues, or it can take up to 4 if you want to do everything slowly. But in general it is smaller than other thematic parks and with less attractions. Even though, it deserves the 5 stars because it is original, educational, and it does not have excessive waiting times.

Beautiful park, small, you can spend long time watching the mini monuments more famous from Italy. They have different rides, some of them are open as soon as the park opens and others later. The train around the park it’s very nice, we really enjoyed and the castle with water guns it’s very fresh and fun. During the weekdays is not crowded.

You can carry out various activities, children wil be delighted !

If you have kids, you must come here. Such an amazing place. I loved the miniatures, the kids loved the rides which were included in the price 24 eur per person above 140cm. The log ride was the best. Granite 4 eur, coffee 2 eur, lots of food everywhere. I was surprised we almost did not have to wait anywhere. Parking for a campervan 5eur per day, 3 eur per car right next to it. Mc Donalds 10m from the entrance. Come here, you will not regret it.
Sacro Bosco is an unusual park filled with grotesque fantasy rock carvings, surreal stone statues, follies and temples. Although entrance fees are a bit expensive, the park is well-maintained and offers a pleasant walking experience through lush vegetation that provides an ideal escape during summer days. However, it may get crowded during peak periods. The park offers great entertainment for both adults and children alike but visitors must be prepared to deal with noisy children charging around.
Fascinating. Beautiful gardens to wander around, really charming escapism. Happily lost 3 hours exploring. Good clean facilities on site & masses of parking. Not the parks fault but the behaviour of children charging around & screaming is intrusive, it's not a theme park.

An amazing and surprising garden full of curious and big statues. Entrance fee a bit expensive (we payed 50€ for 2 adults and 3 children aged 5, 10 and 12), but on the positive side it had loads of parking space and it was worth for a nice walk. We stayed about 1,30h.

Such a magical place. Its surrealist stone sculpture garden. We were there in Jan but would have been great to be in warmer weather since its located in hilly landscape with streams and grass area. We spent about 1 hr walk around. Its easy terrain for slow walk but different elevation makes the park interesting. Love the face entryway, elephant sculpture and leaning building. Will definitely watch the movie where the entire movie scene was shoot in this park.

If you like to walk around and see huge carved bizarre stone statues--you will want to come here. Created in the 1500s--I kept wandering what "they were on?"
One of favorites was being inside the mouth of "Orcus" (you can have someone take your picture while in the mouth). In May, there was still a waterfall that was flowing.
If you stay on the paths--pretty much wheel chair accessible.

It's a nice park to visit for a stroll when the weather is nice. I wasn't too impressed by the statues (most are in a deteriorated state) and information provided about the works is minimal. The Duomo di Orvieto is a Gothic cathedral located in the city of Orvieto in Italy. It was founded in the fourteenth century as a response to a Eucharistic miracle that happened nearby. The cathedral has beautiful frescoes and mosaics on its gold facade, and is one of the top tourist destinations in Italy.
The history that involves this amazing architecture is fabulous. You can see the old testament and the new one carved on the walls of the entrance of the church.
A really beautiful place and full of history. Hire a tour guide so you can learn more about it.

Spectacular building! Very unique. Much of the attraction can be seen from the outside but I think the €5 entrance ticket is worth it as the altar, chapels and organ inside are beautiful. Nicely preserved frescos. The entrance ticket also gains you access to a small museum and the space below the church. The highlight of Orvieto.

Absolutely beautiful cathedral in the heart of Orvieto. A must visit when in Orvieto. But be respectful. Shorts and dresses must be to your knees and shoulders must be covered to be admitted. Hats for men AND women are to be removed before entering.

The cathedral flagstone was laid on 13 November 1290 but work (reconstruction, redesign) continued into the 20th century. In fact, the beautiful bronze doors were added in 1970.
The side walls, alternating layers of local white travertine and blue-grey basalt stone are a stark, but beautiful contrast to the glittering gold-accented front facade.
Unfortunately, we could not enter the church owing to a funeral.
A large rose window and golden mosaics, and a wealth of sculpture festoon the front. The cathedral has five bells, dating back to the Renaissance.

THE BIGGEST CHURCH I'VE EVER SEEN ATOP A MOUNTAIN!!!!!
Orvieto was really something to see the town is atop a mountain they have a cable lift up mountain and on top you can take a ride on a trolley that takes you to different parts of Orvieto. Each hamlet has its own flavor, even a mid evil section ! But when you come to this church, it's mind-blowing! Beautiful! We took the trenetia train from Rome for about an hour twenty minutes. Great place to get out of Rome for a day. You will love it! Just be aware of the train schedule tricky. The trolley is 9 euro and lift two and half euro well worth it.

Nestled in a quaint little hill town, this duomo is spectacular.
What is the difference between a cathedral and a Duomo? They are in fact one and the same!
Duomo is an Italian word for cathedral, which is a Catholic church where the bishop resides.
I would not like to live in a world without cathedrals. I need their beauty and grandeur. I need their imperious silence. I need it against the witless bellowing of the barracks yard and the witty chatter of the yes-men. I want to hear the rustling of the organ, this deluge of ethereal notes. I need it against the shrill farce of marches.

Mirabilandia is Italy's largest amusement park, located in Ravenna. It offers a perfect solution for families with kids and teenagers to have an exciting day out. The park features a variety of thrilling roller coasters, including the popular "Katun," as well as water and family rides. Additionally, visitors can enjoy attractions like laser gun games and live shows.
A wonderful park to experience an exciting day. There are a lot of great roller coasters, my favorite one is "Katun". Back then I drove several times in a row. In the evening or on rainy days there are fewer people. I was there 2 times (2 years in a row) and both times it was a really great experience. If you prefer water, there is a separate water park, but you have to pay for it separately.I just love this park, it's better than Europapark and most of the other parks. There is still so much to tell ... shows, fireworks, just great! I can really only recommend it.❤️😍✌️👍

Park is generally nice, it has some great attractions and that Hot Wheels show is a must see. Prices inside are very high, but that's to be expected.
Customer service is absolutely awful though and it ruined my experience. They closed one ride for the day while we were waiting in the line, trapping us inside with no information about what's going on until we gave up after a long while and climbed out across the fence. Next day they left us to wait in the line for the same ride in the sun. We waited for nearly 30 minutes over the opening time for this certain attraction and nobody explained to us why.
I have no problems with waiting, except if it leads to nothing and it was caused by employees not doing their job and not informing the guests about what's going on.

The park is nice. Not so big, but there attractions are good, well balanced and fun. The extreme ones are moderately extreme. There is only 1 or 2 worth of mentioning. The rest is more fun than extreme. The Hot wheels stunt show is great. One definitely needs 2 days to have a good experience in three park and try all off the rides, especially in the summer.

Very magical a d super park. We spent 2 days in family in combination with the mirabeau and it was just super. Staff was very friendly to everyone rides for everyone. Lots of water to refresh. The shows and spectacles were of very high level. Highly recommended a visit to this park!!

This place is very nice! The rides were really fun and the food wasn't that expensive at all. The park has a wide range of attractions as well as games. The only problem there was (at least for me) was that there was no attractions "in the middle". What I mean by that is that the rides were either extreme or very small. There was not much "in the middle " ones to pick from. Though after all, I really enjoyed my day!

Fun day out for all the family with a fantastic Hot Wheels live stunt show that should not be missed.

I love this park. Fast rollercoasters and amazing rides. The Hot Wheels show was very exciting. The park was quite big and there are enough rides and food options. Family friendly and ver nice staff.

The amusement park left us with mixed feelings overall. While the place itself was decent, there were certain aspects that proved disappointing.
One of the main letdowns was the fact that many attractions were not operational during our visit. This diminished our overall impression of the park, as we had expected a full array of entertainment options. It would be great if the park ensured more reliable and consistent operation of its attractions.
Another downside was the brevity of the shows. We were hoping to witness captivating performances, but they were allotted very little time. More duration and attention given to the shows could have created a more immersive and exciting atmosphere.
The park itself appeared decent, but somewhat lacking in liveliness. We felt a shortage of interactive elements and a "magical" atmosphere that could have enhanced the overall experience. More attention to detail and additional interactive elements such as staff interactions or captivating decorations could have made the park more appealing and engaging.
Overall, the amusement park had its ups and downs. While the non-operational attractions and underwhelming aspects were disappointing, we still managed to find some enjoyment during our visit. With improvements and greater attention to detail, this park has the potential to become a truly captivating entertainment destination

Fantastic experience!
I visited 16 years ago as a teenager and this week as a parent with 5yo and it's just amazing. A lot of activities to do, Hot Wheels show is just great.
The only downside is that our youngest could not enter anything as she was just below 90cm and there was no attraction we could enjoy as a whole family, we needed to swap everytime.

We spent a day in the park and we choosed an working day to skip the crowds and it was a good idea.
The maximum time in the waiting line was 30 min.
The park is well organized, big and full of attractions:)
The price is a little bit too high for what is offering but for a day is good enough.
We'll be back next time when we'll pass the region Romagna.

Great park. There is a huge parking place that costs €7. The most enjoyable rides are always full of people. The ezperiences are beautiful. There are places to eat, to buy souvenirs, take photos and games to play for prices.
It is ideal to spend with family.
The levels of difficulty in each rise are shown before hand.
It is suitable for little kids as well.
Nice to go on summer because there are many rises with water.

A really fun amusement park to enjoy with the family or friends. There are around 35+ activities to do and without any long queues. We visited in the first week of November.
Cv Gandhi — Google review
We had an awesome day here! The rides are varied from kiddy ones to top tier adrenaline pumping ones and everything in between. We came right at opening time and there was already a large crowd of people there, so plan accordingly!
The wait times for the popular rides weren't that bad, the longest one for us was Katun, where we waited for about 40 minutes, but that was to sit in the first row (different queues). You can also opt for a FlashPass where you can get to the ride a lot quicker!
The adrenaline rides are superb, specially Katun, iSpeed and the Oil Towers (2 of them, one shoots you up at high speed and the other slowly raises you and then drops you like a rock), the other non-extreme rides are awesome too, we especially liked Reset (you're transported into a post apocalypse New York City where you have to laser your way through the infections with a laser gun) and Gold Digger (like a small roller coaster, but so fun!).
The food was good, and honestly not that pricey (we got a menu for 12€ each and that's a main dish, side dish and a drink). The toilets are clean and nice and there's enough of them spread around the park so that you'll never have to wait in line, unless it's a really busy day.
You should also have a change of clothes with you because even in the non water park parts of the park there are water rides that will get you completely wet! Ah yes there's also a water part of the park (ticket sold separately!), but we didn't opt for that ticket, but it looked really fun with a lot of slides!
Ah the most important thing is that you can have a backpack with you, and you can leave the backpack at most big rides (once you get on the ride) and it will be there when you get back.
Super fun, we made about 30k steps in one day, got a nice healthy dose of adrenaline so I wholeheartedly recommend a visit if you're in the neighbourhood (and even if you're not :) )

The Doge's Palace is a labyrinthine Venetian Gothic palace built in the early 14th century by architect Filippo Calendario. The palace is full of lavish Venetian Gothic opulence, as well as citys history and intrigue.
It’s worth visiting it especially with a guided tour as there is so much history gathered in this stunning Palace! Majestic and numerous chambers, magnificent paintings, including the biggest painting in Europe - ‘Paradise’ located in the Chamber of the Great Council, golden ceilings - these are only some of the treasures you will see during your visit! We visited also the prison and saw the Bridge of Sighs.
Nora Emilova — Google review
On the pricey side for what you get but it is Venice so everything comes at a premium. Enough things to see and admire to keep you entertained for a couple of hours or longer.
Good insight into life when the Palace was fully functioning. I enjoyed it but will not be one for all the family, certainly not at the price. If you like art it is recommended.
Some nice views from the top too.

A brilliant place to visit! Personally, I enjoyed this more than St Marks Basilica. Outstanding art and architecture, the whole place is steeped in history. Some of the rooms and the scale of them will take your breath away. A must see when visiting Venice. Tip: we got a skip the line and guided tour. It was well worth it, we spent zero time waiting and the tour brought the place alive.

Beautiful experience of a lifetime. The decorated rooms with awe inspiring paintings on ceilings and walls made it special. It reminded us of Indian palaces or French Versailles beauty. It was crowded but if you get advanced skip line it’s very smooth and no waits. The bridge of sighs is nice touch to the visit which is both sad and provides one of best views of Venice in addition to the armory rooms which also have fabulous views of Venice. We skipped the basilica next door which had nightmare lines and don’t regret coming this way instead.
Enjoy.

A wonderful palace full of rich history!
You can buy your tickets day of, but you will be stuck in a line to be able to get inside.
The palace is wonderful, and the walls have stories of how it all came to be and how the role of the Doge was handled throughout time. You explore the halls and rooms within the building, along with the connected prison chamber and pass through the inside of the sigh bridge.
Overall a good experience, and one item as a must do while in Venice!
Hernan Hernandez — Google review
We went here in mid January on a Monday morning - no lines for tickets, no lines anywhere! The palace was so cool to see and it really gets you thinking about the wealth they had hundreds of years ago to be able to have such ornate rooms and ceilings. We skipped the audio tour as we just wanted to look around. Awesome architecture. The prison was really creepy. It was almost like being outdoors with how cold it was, so even though going up (and down) the sometimes steep or uneven stairs got our heart rate up, we kept our coats on. I enjoyed seeing the historic Bridge of Sighs--from the inside out! They don't allow backpacks so be prepared to check yours. There are tons and tons of stairs as you follow the pathway through the building so you will get lots of steps in.
Reesa Nelson — Google review
The ticket price is outrageously high, and we definitely had a visit experience that was not worth the price. We despite choosing a less crowded period in Venice and purchasing tickets in advance with a specific time slot, the palace was still crowded. This can only mean they are selling too many tickets without considering visitors' experience.
The first and longest part of your visit is a dull exhibition about the palace and the Venetian dukes. If you know nothing about Venice Palace and Dukes, the exhibition might be interesting, but if you have even a bit of knowledge, it will feel boring. The rooms they prepared for this exhibition are specially designed to close off the palace, with walls covered in burgundy plaster and ceilings covered with nets, giving no sense of being inside a palace. We thought the whole visit would be like this, and we felt disappointed.
In the second part, you get to see the grand palace rooms and halls. The rooms are truly beautiful with their magnificent ceilings and walls adorned with paintings.
The third part involves visiting the prison by crossing the Bridge of Sighs. It's an empty and boring walk. You only see prison cells.
In short, you pay an exorbitant fee to see a few rooms and halls of the palace amidst a crowded mass of people. I definitely don't think it's worth it.
Murat Yıkılmaz — Google review
Amazing place. Extremely well preserved paintings (though some were replaced by copies, the originals taken to the Louvre...), impressive interiors, some interesting collections of Venetian armour, and temporary exhibitions. Also, the prison part of the Palace is well worth a visit in itself, with its Bridge of Sighs, of course. The visit would take at least two hours.

The amazing wealth of the Venetian city state is on full display in this museum. Much of it must be seen in person to appreciate the scale and mastery. This is a must see experience if you travel to Venice. There is so much history behind every piece of art work and artifact. You can spend many hours going through them. There are also guided tours offered by local guides, who can give you in depth history lessons.
James Zhang — Google review
Amazing scale and sumptuous style make the Palace a must visit, if you are in Venice. Only marked down from 5 stars as, however awe inspiring, the religiously oriented paintings and decorations left me with a feeling of a heavy grimness rather than light and glory.
Queued for approx 40 mins to get in, though that was my fault for not trying to book until too close to the day.
Richard Porter — Google review
Get the ticket to tour the palace from the inside. Definitely book ahead online otherwise you will find yourself in a line stretching for hours, regardless of the season. Fascinating history and unique style of Venetian architecture that is quite different from other parts of Italy. Some awesome giant rooms that housed the Venetian governing apparatus, and you can see how the layouts relate to the well-known facade outside.

Beautiful palace. I'd spring for 4 museums in a visit. Each floor is very different from the next. Completely worth it. My photos don't do it justice. Visited in late November so got right in. The normal queue lines were beside us and you can see where it's normally out the door when people go in season so beware 😲

A must see. Absolutely stunning opulent palace. Very golden. Tickets are 25€ if booked 30 days prior. 30€ if book within 30 days. Opening time vary with season. For winter 2024 is 9:00- 18:00. It is wheel chair accessible. Opened every day. This is definitely a very popular attraction so must be crowded on peak season.

Exquisite ceiling work 🥰!! they’ve preserved the state of the prisons which is incredible…The finesse of the paintings are just🥰 we were lucky to visit during the night hours as it was open till 10pm on this particular day and I feel the lighting added a different charm to the art work..
I however feel that the place can be better maintained for the price they charge for entry.
Having said that, it’s definitely a must visit when visiting Venice !!

Outstanding beauty, absolutely worth a visit. The path is marked by the ropes so it's easy to go through it without missing anything and getting lost. I'd take at least a couple hours to take it easy and enjoy the beautiful art (in particular Veronese) and opulent architecture. I recommend booking in advance and buy priority tickets to skip all queues and waste valuable time in Venezia!

Absolutely gorgeous, can’t be put into words. Highly recommend—this is a must when visiting venice. the architecture is wonderful, the history is extremely interesting and the rooms will put you in awe. Paris has nothing on this, this is the most impressive destination! i highly recommend doing a tour to skip the long lines and learn about each room.

The Palace is a stunning piece of art located right next to the Basilica. When you start the tour you see the amount of effort that they put into making this palace. Words can’t really describe how it looks inside and nor can pictures do justice. Each room is grand!!! When you go on the tour read the signs that they posted. It gives you a thorough explanation of the palace. By the end of it, you realize this place was used for making decisions for the community and bringing law and order to the people. I really felt that the Venetians try to create a Fair method of justice. Funny because their checks and balances system was brought to the United States. That’s what our tour guide said. Overall, it’s amazing and leaves you speechless.

Would come again any time, great place with lots of great art. We used a tour guide that didn’t offer much time. One hour was barely enough. The museum doesn’t have air conditioning which in summer makes it unbearable to visit it in some places. They have a cafe and toilets with a long queue in front of them.

Really enjoyed this visit
I would recommend booking a timed ticket on line or queuing up early for a ticket and going back later in the day.
I wouldn’t bother with audio guide. It’s €5 each (cash) but you need to leave your passport or drivers license so that you don’t run off with the device. The audio guide does not cover everything. There are plenty of written explanations in many languages.
The cafe is really good.
I would recommend the long tour around the prison.

Wonderful tour. The entrance fee is not cheap, but it's well worth it - you get a great insight into Venice history, see stunning art and architecture, walk through the chilling prison, and literally get to walk across the iconic Bridge of Sighs. We were here in October and happily avoided the crowds - if coming in peak times you might want to pay extra to minimise long wait times.

Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!

A really interesting building and great to walk around. If you like painted ceilings, you’re in for a treat! We waited outside in the general queue for probably around 20 minutes, so I’d recommend buying a ticket in advance because we didn’t go at a hugely busy time of day (around 4pm).
Beth J — Google review
The paintings and ceilings are breathtaking, they are ginormous. We went with a tour group and it was not too crowded. There are not many places to sit down inside and there are many stairs.
Samantha Baldyga — Google review
I recommend booking a tour as the queue for ticket entrance is insane. With a group tour, the waiting time is minimal. Also, with the rich history, it is impossible, at least for me, to make sense and appreciate the grandeur. I am amazed how the Venetian, as a relatively small power in terms of numbers is able to do so much.
If you want to be on the Bridge of Sighs, then need to go in through the Doge’s Palace.

We went on a Thursday evening around 5 pm and it was mostly empty and we were able to visit without waiting. That said, the palace is huge and if you want to spend time observing the art, you may want to go earlier.

Excellent museum. Fine attention to history as each display in 4 languages. Extensive history at each display and very well done. The building is incredible inside and well worth the fee to visit. The armory halls especially piqued my interest. Excellent display. Would definitely visit again. I did a self guided tour but the audio tour would’ve probably been helpful. Excellent indeed.

Must visit to appreciate the symbol of the wealth and splendor of this once great maritime republic. You can actually walk through the famous Bridge of Sighs and visit the new prison across the canal after you see the beautiful gilded halls and stairways of the palace. I would recommend visiting it in wintertime when you can actually take nice pix without huge crowds.
The Basilica di San Marco is a spectacular cathedral located in the heart of Venice which is noted for its intricate mosaics and gilded interiors. It does not charge visitors for entry, but does have fees associated with accessing some of its attractions such as the St Mark's Museum, the Treasury and Pala d'Oro. This iconic building is a must-see on any visit to Venice.
Wow, what a place to visit. Highly recommended. The church/cathedral/basilica is absolutely beautiful. It‘s adorned with riches of gold, precious stones, mosaics, art work and sculptures that will astound you. It has to be on your list of things to see whilst in Venice. A tip is to get a skip the line guided tour, we did and we had no waiting at all and a superb guide that brought what we were seeing alive.
Chris A — Google review
The place itself is gorgeous, but under renovation. To get in, its 3€ and most of the church is blocked off, including the seats and all of the side rooms. The entrance fee just lets you walk around the main room. If you want to go up to the tower its another 5€ and the museum is also an additional cost. I walked through it fairly quick as there was not much to see, and there was a big crowd the whole way

Beautiful church. Highly recommend to buy tickets ahead of time to skip the line. The line wrapped around the church before it opened. We went on a Tuesday in March, the off-season, around 945am and it was packed. Definitely wanna get tickets to the horse loggia and museum if you want access to the top balcony.

Stunning Basilica. We had to wait in line, but it moved quickly. Price was 3 euro per person to enter, but worth it. So beautiful inside. It was under construction outside and only limited areas you could go inside. We did not buy the museum pass to go upstairs and outside. The have restrictions on clothing to enter (womens shoulders must be covered as an example)
Michael Mack — Google review
Arguably the most favourite building in Venice, it is always packed. So I joined a night tour and was glad that I did because it gave access to some off limited areas. It was also great that only 2 other groups were there at the same time. So I could really pay attention and learn about the history about the basilica. What a beautiful place. I still can't believe I was walking in it. (July 2022)

To preface, I visited in 2016 and it was with a tour group- so, I got to see most of the basilica and did not have to deal with any queues or weird pricing. As far as the basilica itself: stunning!! So much impressive craftsmanship in the building, and the artwork is awe inspiring. I did not go to the top towers, but even through some of the windows there were very impressive views. Of course it was crowded, like most similar areas, but I remember having a great experience because it was not enough to pull me out of the beauty. We even got to see some lower levels and a cell somewhere in the basement I believe. If I were to visit Venice again with my wife I would surely take her here!

A very beautiful basilica indeed! I’ve enjoyed the appearance of the exterior and interior the most. I would highly recommend buying tickets online to skip the line. I wouldn’t miss the roof, as it gave a beautiful view of the Piazza San Marco.
Jamila Saleh — Google review
Looks beautiful inside however there is an extra 5 euro charge to walk through the back of the church area getting a better view of some of the art. Also there is a 7 euro charge to go to the museum. It would have been nice to include everything as a bundle fee as opposed to paying when you get there.
Still a very impressive basilica and probably a must see in Venice so just keep in mind the extra costs if you plan on seeing everything here.
I also recommend picking up tickets earlier which will help save you some time when entering

You have 3 attractions in one here. There is the Basilica itself. Then you have to pay extra to see the golden alter screen it is also extra to go up to the Balcony outside and then extra again to visit the Museum. Also it cost extra to get an Audio guide. It is a gorgeous place to see. The mosaics are out of this world. They tell so many stories and the audio guide tells the history of them all. Truly breathtaking. Got the skip the line tickets and they were well worth it as queues can be quite long.

Gorgeous church but we were not allowed to go inside the main part of the church because church was in session when we were on our tour. We could go inside the first door and walk around upstairs and outside on the top level for a nice view of the square.
Samantha Baldyga — Google review
I recommend buying the Basilica AND the museum/horses ticket as the ticket for the Basilica only does not allow you to go upstairs. We paid 6€ each for the 'skip-the-line' tickets including the entrance of the Basilica (3€ each). Adding the 3€ to skip the line was worth it. We then paid 7€ each to enter the museum and horses tour and we also thought it was worth it. The museum allows you to get closer to the ceilings mosaics and this alone is worth the add-on. The views of San Marco square from outside the basilica (balcony) is a nice bonus.

This is the largest square in Venice.
It’s a very crowded tourist attraction but still I loved being here. The popular St. Mark’s Basilica and the very iconic bell tower stand in this place. The other dominant building here is the Doge’s Palace.
All the buildings are very pretty. You need to stand in the middle of this square to really get the feel of the wonderful architecture around you. It’s a very lively and happy place (at least that’s the way I felt being here). Full of activity, iconic buildings and cheerful tourists.
It’s a great place to spend a few hours. There are quite a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops here which are nice but expensive (as is the case near any main tourist attraction).

This is my top 1 tourist place to go in Venice .Beautiful architecture it’s is absolutely flawless. I went on a tour and I loved the history of the Basilica. Gorgeous church with a beautiful interior. Lines get long quick but move relatively quickly. Fee to enter the basilica, fee to see the gold alter piece in the apse, fee to see the upstairs/museum/rooftop so come prepared to shell out $$$. But I think they are all worth it especially the upper level/museum/rooftop. Free Rick Steves audio tour really opened the place up.

One of the main places to visit when in Venice. I would highly recommend showing up early in the morning during peak season (summer time), to make sure you don’t need to wait in a long queue. I arrived 45 mins before the doors opened, and was the first in line. Tickets are very inexpensive, which are mainly a donation to the Basilica, and the view from the second floor outdoor area gives an amazing view of the entire Square!

I think the facade looks the best close to sunset. That's when the evening sun shines onto it, illuminating the mosaics on the facade.
As for visiting it, I'd recommend buying the tickets in advance. We arrived 30min before opening and ended up waiting for 45min to enter.
Definitely visit the Museum as well. You get to visit the terrace and see the original bronze horses.

3 euro entry and extra 5 to visit the alter and 7 extra to visit the museum itself. Prices are reasonable. Great views, architecture and priceless art work. It was a great experience to walk round and explore the basilica. Would recommend paying for the museum as this allows you upstairs and out onto the balcony for view at marks square and the condition of some of the art work is amazing. Cheap activity and worth a visit. You can book fast track tickets. We went around 11am and there was a long queue but we were in within 30min

Well what can i say, it’s worth the hype, it’s worth the queues, it’s just gorgeous and magnificent. I will go out on a limb and say that this is the most magnificent Basilica as per me in Europe (and the list includes Saint Peter’s in Vatican). The church is covered in mosaic and it seems impossible to even imagine how they created the art. The museum along with the galleries give some of the best views in Venice and thus worth going in. If you take Rick Steve’s audioguides then you can easily spend a few hours admiring the glory of this Basilica.

St. Mark's Basilica Venice, the multi-domed church on St. Mark's Square, is one of Venice's main attractions and one of the most spectacular cathedrals in Italy.
At St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, you'll get a glimpse of a true embodiment of Venetian aesthetics.
St. Mark's Basilica Venice is an iconic symbol of Venice.
Originally intended as a private chapel for the Doge, the church has played an important role in the religious and political life of the city over the centuries.
The basilica was built to preserve the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist, which had been stolen in Alexandria, Egypt. St. Mark's Basilica of Venice, also called the "Golden Church", is famous for the dominance of golden mosaics, which are a unique sight in the world of art.
Discover the priceless treasures kept in the basilica for the refinement of the mosaics .

The square makes an amazing impression in real life. It is very nicely lit, and the square itself has a very large open space, as in Venice, the streets are narrow. The basilica itself has a lot of decorations and drawings that delight. The whole thing is perfectly preserved and is truly a work of art. I highly recommend seeing it with your own eyes.

TICKETS! The biggest challenge with this monument is understanding where and how to purchase tickets. There is limited signage and information online to advise YOU CAN PAY AT THE DOOR and do NOT NEED skip the queue tickets. It’s €3per person to get in on the ground level to view the inside with an addition €7 per person via cash or card to walk upstairs and walk through both the museum and the outdoor viewing area over the square. I highly recommend this! On the hour the clock changes and the bell rings…an amazing sight to see…try to time your visit to over the hour change to experience this.

This basilica is decorated by mosaic. The glittery yellow ones are 24k gold! The extravagance in building this is unbelievable. The hall is the lowest point in Venice and it is first to get flooded when waters come in.
St Mark’s body is also kept in this basilica.

St. Mark's Square is a popular tourist destination in Venice, Italy due to its rich history and Venetian Renaissance architecture. The square is filled with cafes and shops, and it is often the site of large events such as concerts and festivals. St. Marks Basilica, one of the most iconic churches in Europe, is located at the center of the square.
Visited this place almost three years back while on the Europe trip. And was very excited to visit this place as I saw it many times in movies or documentaries. Reached the place through a ferry. The water colour was sea green and took almost 40 min to reach there. The first word when we reached there was wow. The place is absolutely awesome. It feels like a different world when we see surrounding. It was very crowded but still many things to see. We will get crowd every where but still place is very mesmerizing. At some place u can have fouling smell too. The flee market is also fascinating. The painting available for sale were really amazing. The restaurants were also on the edges where we can enjoy scenes and food.
Amazing place to visit.

And a stunning view of the water and St George’s church with some Gondolas in view.
It’s one of the most beautiful city centres in Europe. I completely recommend it.

The main square to visit in Venice. You can find St. Marks Basilica, Bell Tower and Clock Tower, and more.
Restaurants and retail shops all around the square, and a bunch of museums / galleries to visit. This place is usually full of tourists, so if you want to take some nice private photos / enjoy the quiet, I would recommend being at the square at 7-8am.
If the weather permits, a lot of the restaurants at the square will play live music in the patio area for everyone to enjoy.
I would say watch out for the tourists traps, you can find them all around the square.

It's a magical place suffering from overcrowding so whatever part/place you want to visit, plan it properly way ahead or you'll end up in never-ending lines of similarly desperate tourists. Considering the basilica, the entrance fee is really cheap (3 euros) compared to the 30 for the Doge Palace. Inside the church I'd recommend to pay extra 7 euros (so 10 in total) to get in the museum of the San Marco Basilica on the first floor to get two amazing views: the mosaics in a very close detail and also access to the above entrance balcony for the best pics of the whole square. Sure, from the campanile you'll see further as way higher, but not so much of a detail of the buildings around...

Famous landmark in Venice. It is both lovely in daytime as well as during evening. At daytime, depending on the viewing angle and sunlight, it exposes the beauty, craftsmanship of the landmark. However, nighttime is a totally different experience with more relax, and vibrant. Live bands from different restaurants entertain guests. It is such an experience for visitors.

This square is just wonderful, especially on a sunny day. The basilica looks just gorgeous! Around, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes. There are also small stands where Venetian masks are sold.

Just amazing!!! Must visit!! Is magic everywhere in the atmosphere, and pure art in any corner. We came for the carnal end of February, so there was a lot of interesting customs and artist acting around the square, just a little bit cold so bring something warm to enjoy without problem. Will come back any time I can.

Words won’t fully describe how amazing it is and if you are visiting Venice from elsewhere, you made it, enjoy the views and everything Venice has to offer. St Marks square should be on your bucket list if you are visiting here. You can also get to the top of the tower.

The most famous square of Venice which is surrounded by the most important attractions of the city. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants around it that are worth mentioning. Better to leave them early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The projects that take place in the square lose something of its glamour.
We arrived around 10am and it was 36 degrees Celsius and the atmosphere stifling.

Unfortunately the weather was a bit rainy so not at it's best. There's works going on to raise the square level higher to help re water levels rising. But the charm of Venice was still there and we had a lovely gondola ride

My trip to Venice, simply awesome! We caught such a great time, sunny but not extremely hot. We had plenty of time to visit Venice but once we reached San Marco square everything exploded with history around us. Amazing architecture, pleasant and beautiful. I urge you to visit at least once in your lifetime.

I am stunned to see people able to rate this site with anything else than 5 stars! This is the very top of world's beauty, this site is a myth and it rises to match its reputation. I was fortunate enough to visit it several times, walking through the pigeons and listening to the piano by the terraces, and also passing by on a big cruise ship, taking photos that could well be taken for aereals.

Very Iconic, one of a kind, the only City that in my opinion anybody should see at least once in their lifetime. So frozen in history, you almost feel like time travelling while strolling down the Venice lanes. Worth visiting anytime.

One of the most amazing places in the world! The canals, churches and architecture is beyond spectacular. From street vendors to churches, every inch is beyond spectacular! Walking during the day is very exhilarating. But walking at night is filled with tranquility and a sense of serenity like no where else. Gondola rides are a must! Traveling by their boat bus system is very easy and inexpensive! You can walk along the canals for hours. Shops and restaurants are superb.

If a bell tower visit is chosen, a short wait for a €10 elevator trip to the bells at the top is required ,although for extra a queue jumping ticked can be bought. Waited about 10 minutes if that, for a spectacular 360 view over the whole of Venice. Fabulous.

Incredible of course! You cannot go to Venice and miss out St. Mark's Square. Beautiful history, architecture, art, food, and music all in one magical location.

It is an impressive square with lots of shops and resurants.
These can be very expensive but you have the option of listening to live music.
We climbed the tower and would highly recommend.
This place floods at high tide at night so they provide planks to walk on which is very cool.

The Grand Canal in Venice is a massive canal that runs through the heart of the city. It has been an important waterway in the city for hundreds of years and has served as a beautiful backdrop to many iconic scenes in Italian culture.
Seeing it in films, on television or magazine simply does not do Venice justice...One must see it with there own eyes...Superb! Took the train from Verona early and spent the day taking in this visual feast! Fell in love with it all! Resident Cowboy of Portugal since 2016

Amazing sites for photos, especially during golden hour. The Grand canal stretches and weaves its way through the islands of Italy and it is where the highway that is Venice is located. The bus system travels through the Grand canal and by bus I mean water bus. I highly recommend taking the water bus even for fun as an alternative to the gondola because it is infinitely cheaper. 10 euros!

The Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, is a significant waterway in the city, serving as a major route for water traffic.
The Grand Canal holds fame for various reasons: the magnificent palaces adorning its shores, the elegant bridges spanning its waters, its role in connecting the city's top attractions, and, of course, the enjoyable gondola rides that offer a fun way to enjoy it all!

The best way to explore Venice, you will get the best views of the city and can explore all the attractions. If you stand in the boat you won't get the motion sickness as bad. So if you have problems with motion sickness I suggest getting on these fairies standing up and not sitting down.

Most important "road" in Venice and definitely a must-see. We totally recommend to take the waterbus or watertaxi or a gondola to see the whole Canal Grande. Also having strolls next to the Canal Grande is really, really nice. So if you're in Venice, don't miss it.

Beautiful grand canal of Venice. It provides awesome views all around. You may also take a romantic gondola tour here. It's bit expensive as 80euros for a half hour tour, but it was well worth it. The sunset views are specially spectacular.

There you will see the Venice we see in photos, movies & read about in books. Beautiful old buildings on both sides, gondolas in the canal. The scene is even better around the sunset time. Whether you are having dinner at one of the restaurants, sitting in a gondola or even just walking. I had an amazing feeling just being there. Best views from the Rialto bridge or (even better) from the rooftop of the Fondaco Dei Tedeschi shopping center.

Main canal of Venice which connects all other small canals in city. All ferries run through this canal and islands near to Venice are connected through this canal. All ferry stops are in this canal, so we can get to all tourist attractions, train stations and main Venice airport from any of the ferry stops in the canal. Famous bridge like Rialto are over this canal.

During my visit to Italy in 2006, I had the privilege of exploring the magnificent Grand Canal in Venice. This iconic waterway, often referred to as the "main street" of Venice, left an indelible mark on my journey through Italy. From its enchanting beauty to its rich history, the Grand Canal offered an unforgettable experience that truly captured the essence of this remarkable city.
As I glided along the Grand Canal in a traditional Venetian gondola, I was immediately captivated by the breathtaking views that unfolded before me. The graceful palazzos, adorned with intricate architecture and vibrant colors, lined the banks of the canal, exuding a sense of timeless elegance. The iconic Rialto Bridge, with its majestic arches, stood as a symbol of Venice's grandeur.
The Grand Canal was a bustling waterway, teeming with activity. Traditional gondolas, vaporettos, and private boats gracefully navigated its waters, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The sights and sounds of Venetian life unfolded around me, as locals and visitors went about their daily routines. It was a captivating blend of history, culture, and everyday life.
The palazzos that adorned the banks of the Grand Canal held a fascinating history within their walls. Each palazzo seemed to whisper tales of Venetian nobility and merchant fortunes, transporting me to a bygone era of opulence and grandeur. The architectural marvels, such as Ca' d'Oro and Palazzo Grassi, showcased the magnificence of Venetian craftsmanship and artistic heritage.
The Grand Canal also offered a glimpse into Venice's cultural heritage through its iconic landmarks. The imposing Santa Maria della Salute basilica, with its striking domes, stood as a testament to the city's devotion and resilience. The canal's waterfront promenades, known as fondamenta, were lined with charming cafes, bustling markets, and artisan shops, allowing me to immerse myself in the vibrant spirit of Venice.
The Grand Canal is the heart and soul of Venice, and a visit to this iconic waterway is an absolute must for anyone traveling to the city. Its timeless beauty, rich history, and bustling atmosphere create a truly unforgettable experience.
My journey along the Grand Canal was a magical voyage through Venice's storied past and vibrant present. It allowed me to witness the city's unique charm and marvel at its architectural treasures. The Grand Canal deserves the highest praise for its ability to transport visitors to a world of unparalleled beauty and enchantment.
My visit to the Grand Canal was a dream come true, and it left me with memories that will last a lifetime. It is a place where history, art, and everyday life intertwine, creating a tapestry of Venetian culture and beauty. The Grand Canal stands as a testament to Venice's enduring allure and its status as one of the world's most captivating destinations.

It is indescribable when you approach Venice by boat and see all these beautiful buildings reflected in the water. It is also pleasant to ride along the Grand Canal with the Vaporetto and enjoy the beautiful palaces along the canal. Arriving in Venice by train also has its own charm, when you are waiting for a transfer at the main station, you are already taken over by this disease called Venice.

The Grand Canal – flows through the 6 districts of Venice. Many smaller canals eventually lead to this Grand Canal. This canal is beautiful to see from the shore, but a boat trip is even better to experience the Venice landmarks and sights from the water.
You must have done this at least once in your life. About halfway along the Grand Canal is the famous Ponte di Rialto . This covered pedestrian bridge has many shops where you can buy your souvenirs.

We traveled by water bus at the Grand Canal in Venice all the time when we were there. The Grand Canal is so beautiful whether we are in there or looking from far away or on top of a bridge.
Some reviews said the water is smelly. But fortunately, the weather was cold when we were there. The water doesn't smell at all.
The views of the Grand Canal are almost like I'm in a painting! It almost looks unreal to me!

The very beautiful Grand Canal runs throughout Venice, it’s very nice. It has lots of museums and places to visit along the way as well as it connects to other various channels and smaller canals throughout the city. Ah Venice... The Grand Canal definitely does not disappoint. Interwoven with smaller channels and canals it snakes through the heart of the city. Pragser Wildsee is a beautiful UNESCO world heritage site, with towering mountains and a deep blue color. It's also become quite a popular Instagram spot in the past few years. No words to express the beauty of this lake. It’s a jewel of Dolomites. Unlike other lakes in the Dolomites, this lake is easily accessible. Therefore, it can get very busy during the summer months. The hike around the lake is a must thing to do. The trail around the lake is easy and well maintained.
There is a very big car park but it’s expensive. There are a few places well before the lake where you can park but it’s a long walk to the lake.
If you are into landscape photography then sunrise would be a better option as there will be fewer people in the early morning.
Boat trips and photography on the boat deck are expensive too.
A highly recommended place!

Amazing hike along the lake with beautiful viewing points and places to chill by the lake. The shore is rocky and so is the bottom of the lake which makes it have this wonderful green color. Do bring something to sit on as the rocks don’t make it comfortable. The hike takes around 2,5 hours and it can be done with regular shoes too. Quite popular so it will not be a quiet walk.

Gorgeous lake with mountain and a turquoise blue water. We took a walk around the lake and it took us around 1.5 hours stopping to take photos. The Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy is a large Catholic church that is home to noted artworks and relics of Saint Anthony. The church is notable for its union of different architectural styles, from Romanesque to Gothic, with 8 domes and 2 bell towers. Inside the building are frescoes and relics of the saint, which has made it one of the most important religious sites in Padua.
One of the largest temples I have seen before. Gorgeous finishes inside, statues, frescoes, stained glass windows. The tomb of St. Anthony inside is a place of worship for locals and thousands of tourists. It's just a MUSEUM! Entrance is controlled, you can not enter in shorts or sleeveless.

It's pretty impressive from the architecture point of view to the relics you can find inside. What I can complain is that you are not allowed to take pictures inside (even without a flash) and I can't really understand why. It was a nice experience to visit one time, but most probably I won't return in the future. It's one of those, one time experience.

A beautiful cathedral featuring many historical relics. Came here while we were in Padua for an afternoon and spent a couple of hours here. It’s free to enter. There’s a few street parking spots that you pay via machine. No cameras are allowed. There’s a museum where you can explore (for a fee). I suggest spending at least a couple of hours here to take in the beauty. There is a livestream of a certain section, which is delineated by signs. Holy water is sold here for 1.50 euros per bottle. The restroom is available for 0.5 euros. There is a souvenir shop.

The Scrovegni Chapel is a monument to the art of Giotto and his frescoes are considered some of the finest in Europe from the 14th century. The chapel is located in Padua, Italy and reservations are recommended to visit as the frescos are beautiful.

Fantastic! Reservations are required well in advance, as visitors are limited, due to climate controlled environment. You will be given a time for your reservation, and don't be late. Giotto's masterpieces are from the 1300's and were early influences on renaissance art. Padua and the Scrovegni Chapel are not to be missed.

Espectacular experience and worth seeing. But, be prepared, the explanation video is in Italian with English subtitles, so if you don't know either it's practically useless... Calculate that once inside you have almost 15min, then you must leave. It's small so they organise and control the number of visitors.
The museum was nice, but the majority of it, 80%, was just explained in Italian. So if you don't know your art and there's no one to explain it could become boring.
You MUST be super punctual, and calculate at least arriving 15min earlier. You must put your things in a locker and the entrance is a bit far from the chapel.
As for getting the tickets, I advise using a computer to do it. It's complicated and time consuming. TIP, the name doesn't matter. One person can purchase all the tickets under the same name.
Marina T.J — Google review
Wonderful and original chapel. The most recognized place is Padova. The trip lasts 30 min and it starts with a 10-15 min-long video explaining the history of the chapel and what is represents. There is enough time to admire the interior. Definitely worth seeing! If you prefer to be sure about the time of the trip, it's better to pre-book it with vivaticket.com. The ticket also includes entrance to Musei Civici agli Eremitani (just next to the chapel) and Palazzo Zuckerman (nearby).

The major masterpiece of Giotto. Integral vision of the historical sequence of events. Realistic style, revolutionary for his times. Emotions on the faces are done really truly. It is not by coincidence he is compared to Dante. They both born with a difference of a couple of years made revolutions in Italian art: Giotto in painting and Dante in literature.

We arrived quite early and showed the staff at the museum our tickets but the lady just told us her shift ends soon and her colleague will come soon which didn’t happen. They also started the video introduction before every visitor sits down so we missed the beginning.

In of the most beautifully decorated churches I’ve ever visited. It had the famous “Kiss of Death” painting inside of it; it is quite the experience, you have to wait inside a temperature controlled room before visiting. You can only stay so long inside the church before you have to leave due to the temperature change. It was a very interesting experience and it was absolutely stunning inside. It was definitely worth the visit and I would highly suggest you visit if your in the Padua area.

Impressive place.
Totally recommended!!
We didn't have tickets because we weren't sure we would have time to go to Padua on this trip to Italy and we bought the tickets on the place without any problem. We only had to wait an hour to enter the chapel but we saw the Museum.

A journey to Padua would be incomplete without immersing yourself in the artistic marvel that is the Scrovegni Chapel. Housing frescoes by the masterful Giotto, whose works have gracefully stood the test of time for over seven centuries, this chapel is a testament to the enduring power of Renaissance art. Giotto, revered as the progenitor of the Renaissance, skillfully departed from the prevailing Byzantine style, offering a visual narrative that exemplifies the essence of Renaissance Humanism. The well-preserved frescoes serve as a captivating window into Giotto's transformative contribution to art history, making a visit to the Scrovegni Chapel a truly enriching experience.

An emotional place. The chapel is beautiful, with dozens of paintings filling the walls. The story of Jesus is displayed poetically, and you can feel the emotion on display. There's a short video that staff make you watch for context before entering. Price is high but worth it.

Must-see in Padova - chapel with famous Giotto paintings. We didn't book/buy tickets in advance (in June), but woman at the ticket office was very helpful and found tickets for us, we could enter in 45minutes. Must be on time in front of chapel, otherwise you could not enter. Visit consists of 15min video presentation and 15 min visit of chapel.
Even our teenagers were impressed.
The Castle Estense, also known as the Castle of Saint Michele, is an imposing 14th-century moated fortress located in the heart of Ferrara. Originally built by the Este family as protection against citizen revolts, over time it became a luxurious residential palace with stunning features such as marble balconies and a Renaissance-style courtyard. Nowadays, visitors can access almost all areas of the castle to admire its opulence and explore its history.
A must see in Ferrara. Not so appealing from the outside, but the painted ceilings are reminiscent of the Vatican, with less people! A very interesting gallery and museum are included with a tower aswell.

It is nice to visit castles when there is one around. It helps understand how the area grew around it. This one includes a lot of explanations. I just regret that the inside does not include any furniture. The castle in itself is well preserved, not as good as others that I visited in France but it is worth a visit. If we could have a service with human guides, I would go for it. It just makes such a huge difference about what you learn and how you enjoy the tour. The temporary painting exhibition was just great. The price is high though (14€ including the tower). I recommend to visit the tower to get a scenic vie of the city.

Interesting Museum in the middle of an old castle. The tower climb is worth the view! However, the permanent exhibits are not well translated, making it hard to understand and not fun to read. The temporary art exhibits were very good and well prepared!

Beautifu big historic structure in the centre of town. Worth visiting with calm to enjoy all it has to offer, including an ascent in one of the towers (122 steps, no lift) to get a panoramic view all around.

Beautiful castle with a moat surrounding it and in great shape. Was not able to enter it on the day we visited but I hear that it is worth it. There is a tower to view Ferrara from and so could be interesting for aerial photos.

Recommended to pre book the tickets to avoid queues.
The castle is in good state and good views from the tower (2 euros more)

If you visit Ferrara, you need to take a short walk through the city center and admire the emblem of the city. Easily accessible, you can enjoy your walk or short rest at any time of the day around the moat of the castle.

You can't miss Castello di Ferrara. Molto bella as they say in Italian. Ferrara is a gem, do not miss this city and make an effort to come!

Full of history. Very well laid out. Panels in English everywhere so not sure if audio guide is necessary. Took almost two hours to go around. Didn't do the Torre Di Leone as it was over 100 steps! Dungeons are interesting. Tourist information office in the castle courytard. Unlike many other museums in Italy, this is closed on Tuesdays.

The castle is definitely the most significant building in the town. We most of the things in the town are built from bricks, this castle is also made of bricks, which was a big surprise for me as I am used to seeing castles made of stone. Make sure to check the opening hours. I was surprised that castle as well as many restaurants and places were closed on Tuesday and done also on Wednesday. You will pay extra 2€ for entrance to the tower but it is definitely worth it because it will give you wonderful views. Unfortunately the castle doesn't include original furniture. Signs inside the castle are both in Italian and English, but sometimes translations were not the best and you had to think twice about what they wanted to tell you. Also, it didn't necessarily go in the historical order so you were putting pieces of puzzles together to understand. Orientation inside the castle was also difficult sometimes because the outside curtains were closed so you had no idea on which part of the castle you are at the moment. But overall, of you are in Ferrara, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit this castle.

Impressive Ferrara’s landmark worth visiting. Make sure to chech for busy hours, otherwise it’s too crowded to really enjoy. Best time to visit is spring or autumn.
