We had amazing time visiting Kia Ora Mini Farm. Variety of farm animals like goat, cow, pig, chicken, rabbits. They also give a rabbit to you in a basket and you can pat on its back while holding the basket(nice experience). Well maintained place. Few activities like plating football, pedaling go kart and mini digger are must try. They also have miniature tractor models on showcase inside a truck. The coffee shop is good time to relax. Special mention to the staffs as all were very helpful and kind:)

We are just home from spending Easter Sunday at Kia Ora mini farm. We were there for hours of fun with the kids. So much to do for little and big kids. Lots of lovely animals and birds, the kids highlights were being able to pet the rabbits and the new baby pigmy goats and the football area! We had tea, coffee, toasties and treats. Great value for money will be back again very soon.

Terrific spot. Great variety of content from animals to go karting and play areas. Pretty educational for the younger mind. All in all a lovely place to visit.

We visited here this week and oh my gosh it’s a piece of farm heaven. The nicest open farm I have ever visited-from the various animals (which were all happy, well fed, content and clean) to the mini diggers which were a massive hit with our little boy to the lovely coffee and freshly made sandwiches and treats in the coffee shop. Not forgetting the lovely staff and the massive amount to see and do! Kia Ora is 10/10 and a must visit for any animal or machine mad child. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting the area ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great set up. Kids absolutely love it. So much to do for them at the farm. Loads of animals to see, loads of play areas to play in, loads of go karts, bikes and tractors to play on! You can even have fun with a real digger.
Small cafe on site too that you can order soup, sandwiches or cakes from.

I had heard about kia ora mini farm from a friend and I was not disappointed. Family had a ball today and kids want to go back already. Friendly staff from the time we entered till the time we left. Toilet facilities spotless and kids had so much time with animals. Staff were very interactive with new animal arrivals. Kudos to you all brilliant day out. 👏

Lots to do and see. Go Carts were a hit! We went on a September weekday so no one but us!

Fabulous staff, great location. This is a wonderful family day out with young kids. The fire engine is a quirky addition to an already wonderful mini pet farm. The Café serves simple quality food. There are many tractors for children to pedal around. There are so many fun activities including a sand pit, mini diggers, and a maze.
Barbara-Anne Murphy — Google review
It was amazing!! The diggers were great, the staff were kind, and the animals were so cute!! They brought one of the mini goats into where the birds are, and there was a friendly chicken running around, my daughter loves the chicken, it didn't peck her and you also get to hold a rabbit in a basket. There is a bird, and it will wave and say 'hello' to you, it is very cool, I recommend it very much!
(I don't recommend the fire truck, the video they play in it is a bit..... odd... considering it's for kids, and the truck smells of smoke and rubber)
Overall this place is amazing!!

Great variety of animals and activities for both adults and kids! You can let bunnies in baskets. Lunch can be bought or brought, and eaten in or outside. Non animal related activities also (karting and foot golf/ mazes). Great day out, could spent around 3 hours comfortably.

We visited yesterday with my nephew who is nearly 3 years old. He absolutely loved the diggers, go-karts, maze and slides. Pictures don't do justice to how much there is to do for the kiddies. We also had a lunch there, offer is simple - deli style sandwiches, but it was very delicious!

Fabulous place really well kept lots to do. We had our 5 year old with us and he had a ball all the staff were wonderful and very friendly. Was great to see all the different animals and the kids been able to interact with some of them was great. The diggers were also great little man was in his element. Nice cafe for tea coffee and cakes. Also hot food pizza and toasties. The sweet shop and gifts. Fireman Sam's fire engine was great to.

It super cute place. The animals looks healthy, clean. Very peaceful space and there is a lot to do there.
🚽Because it is a place for kids I would have liked that the toilets were suitable/accesible for them (smaller sizes).
🚨🚨And also there is a toy store at the entrance(the first thing that you see, and not so cheap) so if you little one can’t resist them TAKE CARE because it could ruin your day🚨🚨

Really great place for kids. A picnic here would be amazing. There are playgrounds and variety of other things. The digger is a really cool thing. Also the bunny is available to hold for your baby. Such a great experience. Must visit

Kia Ora, Courteencurragh, Gorey, Co. Wexford, Y25 RX60, Ireland
Wells House and Gardens is a Victorian Tudor Gothic mansion built in the 1830s, located in Wexford, Ireland. It was voted one of the best family day out venues and offers guided tours of its elegant interior as well as beautiful woodland walks. The estate also features an adventure playground for children to enjoy, along with falconry displays. Visitors can explore artisan shops on the grounds and have lunch at the cafe too.
Wonderful place to spend a day. Beautiful walks through the fairy woodland- my daughter ran from tree to tree discovering all the fairy doors and wooden sculptures. We enjoyed lunch at the cafe, played in the playground, browsed the artisan shops and even met the residents raccoons and meerkats! What an interesting and fun day out for the whole family!

against the elegant background of a 17th century Victorian house.
Gorgeous park!
At the first visit, we did not manage to see the entire territory - we will be back!

What a fantastic place, went with my grandchildren we had a great time walking around looking for the fairy houses and at the playground, plenty to do and when you get tired there is a brilliant restaurant or bring your food and eat at the picnic tables. Wells house is a brilliant family day out .
katherine o grady — Google review
Even though it was a good hour and a 40-minute drive away , it was totally worth going. There is so much to do for all ages. A couple of different walks through forests, full of magical crafty figures, from fairy's to trolls to the most inspiring signs. Not to be missed. Bring a picnic as lots of tables are scattered around even better to get the ones near the playground, where you can watch your children play while enjoying a cuppa. If picnics aren't your thing, a lovely cafe is serving homemade food and coffees. Also, there are lots of toilets, which is a plus when I have so many little ones.
On the hour, there was also the opportunity to handle/feed baby animals. Very cute.
Through a secret garden you'll find it full of bee and butterfly loving flowers, which my children loved catching the butterfly's. We stayed for 5 hours and could of stayed longer but was closing as we didn't notice the time going by. Totally recommend this place for not just children but adults aswell. There may be even a chance for some glitter tattooing if your lucky enough......

Went to the Christmas experience with my wife and 2 kids. We loved every minute of the time we were there. Mrs Claus and Buddy the elf were a funny introduction to the day. The kids loved the train ride looking for the missing reindeer. Met plenty more friendly elves at the post office, bauble making and toy shop. We then met the main man, who was on the ball. Made the lads feel special and at ease. They were given a choice of presents that were of decent quality. One minor quibble would be about the photos. Even though there is no obligation to buy them, €45 for two or €50 for three, I felt was a bit steep.
Overall though, we had a great day and would highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful as always, very well organised and a paradise for children. A must visit place if you live or travel and visit Wexford. Went for the Easter egg hunt and was amazing glitter paints a bunny dressed up great walk around to find different colour eggs put in your bag then to choose your own egg

There are playgrounds, small animals, walking trails, tree sculptures, playgrounds, coffee shops, and picnics. Tickets are €9 for adults and €5 for children. The overall price/performance ratio is not particularly high.

Beautiful house and gardens. The two walks are really nice and peaceful with plenty of really cool surprises for the little ones. Playground and petting zoo are also amazing amenities. Coffee shop has some really tasty food. Overall, amazing place to visit. We had an annual family pass last year and will definitely be getting another one this year.

Lovely place.. it's not free..it's private property.massive gardens and a good playground.. There is a small farm with few animals for kids to visit.. unfortunately on weekdays the house is not open for viewing.
Well maintained landscape..the trail walk is entertaining with fairy gardens and gruffulo for kids.

What a great little place to stay perfect for exploring what Wexford has to offer. We stayed in the gardens cottage it had two large bedrooms with two single beds in each and a small room with one single bed in it, perfect for our family of five. There is a large kitchen/dinner and a large sitting room. The kitchen has everything you would need for your stay. The house was spotless when we arrived. While there we did the walks around gardens which were beautiful and the wooden carvings kept the kids entertained on the walk. There is a playground with a separate paved area where the kids can play ball games and have hours of fun. There is a café on site but we only had coffee and scones which were really nice. There is a small few animals in the petting farm and the covered play area is perfect for when you might get some rain.
There is plenty to see and do around the local and wider Wexford region and this is a perfect base to explore it all. The local towns are about a 15 minute drive and have plenty of shops and restaurants to try.
The whole family really enjoyed our trip here and we did plenty to keep them busy and entertained.

€85 for 2 adults, a 1 year old and 2 year old. Requested to change the time weeks ago as we would be unable to make our time, they charged another €15 to go 1 hour later. Experience was fine and Santa was lovely but they charge for the photos, 2 for €45 or 3 for €50. It's disgraceful that a photo isn't included given the price of it. They should tell people there is a charge beforehand, we could have taken our own photos had we known. Very unimpressed and would not recommend.
Sinead Flynn — Google review
Absolutely brilliant.
We went to the Halloween event and I have to say the witches were absolutely brilliant, they made the whole experience.
They interacted with the kids, gave us a few friendly frights and made us laugh - well done.
The pumpkin patch itself was good, but a couple of the pumpkins were rotten but we did go later in the month so maybe that’s why.
The café was brilliant - service excellent, food delicious and the cleanliness was great.
All around a great day! Definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive from dublin.
Thanks for a great day.
The only negative I would give is that the house itself wasn’t decorated. Some spooky decorations on the house itself would have been amazing for a photo and a bit of a scare effect.
Again, thanks to all involved especially the witches! A great family day out and a cherished memory we will now have forever.

I stayed her as a child in the early 90s and going back was amazing so many happy memories now added too with my own child. The gruffalo trail is amazing my daughter loved every minute spent here as did I. Enchanting for both adults and kids

Really disappointed in the Easter experience. 3 of the "fairytales" hadn't arrived in the time that we were there (11am Saturday). The train ride was laughable considering the options of routes/scenery the grounds have to offer.
The only saving grace were the animals and fairy walk
Cafe - disappointing.
Amy Farrell — Google review
It's a beautiful place "in the making" but unfortunately lacks inspiration. Signage is very dated/hard to read, cafe/house only opens weekends but admission price still the same, this is going to be an amazing tourist attraction and doesn't need much attention to get it noticed but it needs just basic few touches like the signage to uplift it a little. Even the barriers on entry were unloved with no clear guidance on what/where to go. Love this place but please just do something to attract at the driveway entrance/signage. Look forward to visiting again.

A great walk for the kids. We’ve been several times! Remember to pack a picnic, snacks and a blanket and you’ll be sorted!! A coffee and ice cream van were also on site this time which were a real treat for all of us.

We visited the Halloween program with small kids. It was a great experience for the whole family! The staff was super, making the visit really memorable.
Unfortunately the pumpkin patch got soaked in the continuous rain of the previous few days, but kneading mud is some of the best fun with little ones - we just all needed our wellies. Plus we also received a reminder about proper footwear the day before.
After the event, we stayed for a walk, playground visit, and getting to know the animals on the grounds. There's plenty to do for a family, including picnic areas, toilets, and a cafe. It's really worth visiting for a full day.
Erzsébet Szilágyi — Google review
Put on your wellies, take a walk around the grounds and bring a picnic. I was pleasantly surprised at the animals there. The kids loved the playground. We didn't stay and paid 5 euro at the gate for entry.

We paid €8 per adult to get in which was quite expensive for what we got. We went for a nice walk around the wood but lots of the sculptures were damaged or had fallen over and the fairy trail was a bit disappointing. You had to pay extra to do the fairytale trail and train which was where the live characters were.

Got to see the animals too..
Avoca Handweavers is the oldest functioning handweaving mill in Ireland, and it offers tours to visitors who want to observe the production process up close. In addition to the tours, there is a store selling clothing and home goods that are made on site. The factory store is well-stocked for shoppers seeking unique items. There is also a lunch counter serving tasty meals on location.
Lovely place to go especially on a sunny day...we went a bit hiking then there ... shop+ live music ( don't know they play everyday or just Sunday)+ lunch if you want...

A lovely little slice of history. The Avoca mills are the oldest in Ireland.
We pulled up in the car park up the road in Avoca and visited the church before walking up the road to the old mill. The buildings were brilliant and the shops full of the mills produce. Find tapestry and handwoven crafted items.
The mills team were very kind. We didn't do the tour or stop in the cafe as it was only a quick visit.
Would highly recommend.

My 14 year old and I visited Avoca last week.I love Avoca stores. This is the original location and where the fabrics are actually made. We took a tour with Allan. Wow. Fascinating history. Allan was wonderful and funny. The tours helped us appreciate Avoca even more.
Products are high end and beautiful. Each of their shops are expertly curated. The best place for gifts. Scarves, blankets, coats, throws, tea pots, food, candles.,
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the staff. Really impressed by Avoca. Rich history. This is a special place. Coco Chanel would use Avoca fabrics.
Cafe: pleasant spot. They have salads and sandwiches and high quality food. As for the cafe, the coffee is terrible. They also need more gluten free options.

Great to see this place open again, we picked up lots of the fridge takeaway food which was sooo good. Unfortunately they didn't have any gluten/dairy free treats/food in the cafe part, would be nice to see this come in and Oat Milk! (The Oatly brand is the business as the Alpro brand tastes strange)
:-) see you soon!

Found a nice place to visit on the weekends- Avoca Handweavers wasn’t crowded on a cloudy day and we’ve got a personal guided tour on the mill with Jeff. Delighted with how interesting and inspiring was the tour! Thank you very much!
Then had shopping and lunch in the Avoca cafe. All dishes were delicious!

After seeing some knitted goods in stores around Ireland, my wife and daughter decided they had to make a stop here. So we went out of our way and found Avoca Handweavers. A beautiful and historic location with an opportunity to see the process up close, a well stocked factory store and a really good lunch counter. Win, win, win.

Our visit was amazing! Allan provided a fantastic tour of the Mill! We learned so much of the history. He was incredibly knowledgeable. It made us appreciate our purchases from the store even more to see how the blankets and scarves are made on site. Lunch at the cafe was delicious. The Mill at Avoca Village, Kilmagig Lower, Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
Johnstown Castle Estate, Museum & Gardens offers a captivating exploration of Irish rural and farm life through its restored equipment and exhibits. The Irish Agricultural Museum boasts an extensive display of farming and rural life, making it a delightful family outing regardless of the weather. The 40-hectare ornamental gardens surrounding the castle feature three lakes, a walled garden, and a resident family of peacocks. Visitors can also enjoy guided tours of the castle with informative guides who share its rich history.
Wonderful place to visit with ample free parking. A small, reasonable charge for entrance (€9 per adult) The sun shone, the gardens were exceptional. The walkways in great order. Suitable for all age groups (and wheelchair users) and beautifully maintained grounds. Lots of space to picnic. A fabulous lake with wildfowl and stunning peacocks. And, when weary from walking, an amazing large cafe with many gluten free cakes. Definitely worth a visit.

Fabulous spot. Absolutely stunning grounds and the people are so lovely & friendly. We did the castle tour which was fascinating and we went for a walk in the grounds. Lots of lakes and little baby ducklings. Very sweet.

Definitely book if you want the tour in the castle which I'd recommend doing. Our guide (Cieron?) was great and brought the family history to life. The grounds are worth exploring and offer a selection of walks. The peacocks are bold, they'll eat from your hand if you let them. The café was good though school holidays meant a little wait for food. The shop needs some consideration, I'd have expected more choice ... Unusually I found nothing to purchase!

Attended a presentation ‘Moorings with a Difference’ about airships at Johnstown Castle. Very interesting. Only saw a small part of the east wing of the castle, but enough to encourage a full tour in the future.
Lakeside walks and views are fabulous. Cafe and shop also well worth a visit (and dog friendly). One of my favourite places for lunch and a walk.

Visiting from Canada and had an absolutely fantastic tour with Liam through the castle and heard the full history. The grounds are large and lovely to walk about. Peacocks roam and you can buy feed to treat them with. A very large cafe to sit down and have a coffee and bite to eat.

My best friend and I visited here on her birthday and we both had a really lovely time! We booked the tickets online which was very easy, we bought the tickets that included access to the gardens, the museum and the castle tour which were very reasonably priced. We went into the museum part first which had a lot more exhibits than we had anticipated and it was interesting to see so many aspects of Irish history (agriculture, furniture, housing, electronics and more). We then went for the guided tour in the castle which lasted around 1.5 hours, the tour was really interesting and the tour guide (Liam) was very knowledgeable, was able to give extensive insight into what life was like in the castle and was very happy to answer any questions. The castle itself was beautiful inside and out and has clearly been well looked after and quite well preserved. We didn't get to walk in the gardens because the weather was dreadful and we didn't have the right footwear but we would love to go back at some point to have a walk around them. All of the staff we interacted with were very pleasant and friendly and the buildings (even parts of the castle) were wheelchair accessible.

What a wonderful experience. The grounds ans visitor centre was amazing. There were peacocks wandering around. We had a tour of the castle with Ash. Ash was so informative about the history of the castle and its occupants. She was also warm and funny. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We then topped off the visit with a scone and coffee at the Cafe. Highly recommend Johnstown for locals, or tourists to the County. On our next trip home to Ireland I can't wait to see what further restorations have been done.

Johnstown Castle was a highlight of our trip. Our guide, Liam, was an incredible storyteller and very sweet. The grounds are beautiful and it’s cute to see kids feeding the peacocks. A perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon, but we wish we could have seen the gardens during a sunny day - I’m positive it would be gorgeous.

I would recommend people to take the guided tour of the castle. The connection of the castle to the history is what makes it interesting. The guide aligned to us was retired personal from British Army and had immense knowledge and brilliant sense of humour. Thanks for making it special.
The National Irish Heritage Park in Wexford is a 35-acre living history park that showcases life in ancient Ireland through guided tours with costumed guides. The open-air museum covers the settlement and history of Ireland from Mesolithic times to the Norman Invasion in the 12th century, featuring reconstructed buildings like a Mesolithic camp, portal dolmen, medieval ringfort, crannogs and Viking harbour.
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Well worth a visit for any history enthusiasts. I teach these periods at leaving cert level and the level of detail put in to recreating these dwellings is excellent. They run guided tours for people who are unfamiliar in with this history. Well worth the price.
Peter Flaherty — Google review
After almost 10 years, and now with kid, we came back to what I think is one of the most beautiful and entertaining historical parks in Europe. It will easily take you 3 to 4 hours to visit it, even more if you fancy the nature paths. Only the road noise nearby regularly reminds you that you still are in the 21st century ! The guides are great, it’s really easy to join one of the tours during the day since they rotate the three periods every 45 minutes, from prehistory to the age of invasion. My favorite part is the early christian Ireland, especially the reconstructed monastery, which has a very nice atmosphere. And to climb up the hill to the Crimea War Monument, embracing a wonderful view on the River Slaney. Our 7 years old boy loved everything in this park, and we were really glad to rediscover the tumultuous past of this beautiful country. It’s probably not our last visit here.

If you like history, you’ll love this. This place offers an insight into the various early settlers to Ireland and the life they lived. The huts are impressive and a stark reality of how people lived and strived to stay alive. From foraging off the land to evolving and learning to grow crops. There’s plenty to see here and a great place for kids. They have birds of prey you can see, while I didn’t get to see them out of their cage, they were lovely to look at. Overall a good place and great day out for kids. They have a kids play area and you can also bring dogs here. They have a nice restaurant too.

Such a great place and great attention to detail. The smell of the real fires burning gives the experience a completely different feel. . Each exhibition has an activity for children. It's perfect for kids and pets are allowed too. You need time to appreciate the entire exhibition. The fairy garden is a cute idea but could do with a bit of maintenance. Overall a very good experience and it was great learning more on Irish history.

Absolutely loved this place. If I lived closer, I'd volunteer to help and support this place in every way. There is so much history about the early Irish and when the vikings came along. Friendly staff all dressed up for the period, and they do guided tours, but we didn't go on them. In the end, they have an aviary thats definitely worth the uphill walk to see all the handsome birds. They also have a great cafe there and 3 toilets. One in the front on the right, one when you walk in the door on the left and another a little over half way threw the walk.

Our first time here and my son LOVED it! We were hoping for a guided tour but somehow missed it :( even though we missed the tours we were able to garner alot of information from the plaques in front of each station. It was a well spent afternoon.

I really enjoyed visiting here in October. The staff are super friendly and we got a map on arrival of the sites to visit. The Park took about 2 1/2 hours to get around but you could take as long as you like. There is a coffee shop on site it's a bit pricey but worth it or you could bring a picnic. All the sites bar the last are very accessible. If you were going to the last site it's up hill so anyone pushing a wheel chair or buggy could do it (there are lots of benches along the way) but it would be a bit of an effort. Great place to visit

Fantastic day spent in the Heritage Park with the family. From the get go the staff were extremely friendly and beyond helpful. Food was delicious in the restaurant plus the all important coffee was exceptional. We opted for the guided tours of the park and I feel the tour guides ( Ciarán and Derek) made the day. These lads deserve a pay rise as the way they conducted themselves and the level of engagement with the kids in answering questions was great to see.I cannot recommend the Heritage Park and its staff highly enough, we'll definitely be back👍

Brilliant tourist attraction. Staff are lovely, tours informative and thoroughly enjoyable to learn about irelands heritage.
It is susceptible to flooding to if visiting after heavy rain, maybe call the place to check it’s fully open beforehand.
Wild bird exhibit is also fantastic. Keepers are friendly and good for a chat about the birds.

We stopped here for the morning back in the summer on a weekend trip down to Wexford. It was great, my husband and two daughters, age 10 and 9, all loved it too. Great hands on stuff for the kid to play with while getting the tour. It is a lot of walking to do the full tour and it ends with an uphill portion but they stop halfway back t the main building and you could decide if you wanted to meet up the second half that goes up to the tower. The gift shop also had great items at a reasonable price.

Ferns is a historic town in north County Wexford, Ireland. It is 11 km north of Enniscorthy. The remains of Ferns Castle are in the centre of the town. Wikipedia.
Glendalough Cathedral is a significant monastic site in Ireland that was established in the 6th century by St. Kevin. The ruins of this ancient monastic settlement lie between two lakes, hence its name Gleann da Loch which means 'Valley of the Two Lakes'. It features a 1000-year-old round tower, ruined cathedral and St. Kevin's Kitchen church. Glendalough is known for its forested walks, plentiful wildlife and beautiful valley location.
Glendalough is a beautiful place! We went with a tour from Dublin, which allowed us only 1,5 hours to explore. I would highly recommend driving here yourself so that you have a lot more time. The lakes and natural scenery is spectacular and the ruins are really interesting. Would suggest you bring an umbrella in case!

An ancient monastic community in a beautiful valley. Forested walks, 2 lakes and plenty of wildlife to spot. Definitely worth a visit. Ample parking, but I suspect it gets jam packed.

Lovely walk around the very old ruins, the 100 ft tower, the old cemetary and if you like hike to the lower lake and or the upper lake. There are also vendors and food trucks in several places. Bathroom facilities at entrance or if you eat at the hotel near entrance. Wear comfortable sturdy shoes for the terrain. Beautiful!

What an amazing place. Great food, coffee trucks. Free to see the monastery and round tower (you pay €4 for parking) and can go inside the visitor centre for €5 to see an exhibition and video about different monasteries around Ireland. Great walk around the lake too.
Lisa O'Leary — Google review
This wonderful historical site features one of the foremost round towers associated with one of the pivotal moments in Irish history. It is a super example of an architectural style that was built to last. It was erected almost a thousand years ago and, theoretically, was to protect the wealth of art and literature, being amassed by the monks, from Viking invaders.
Aside from the substantial historical importance, it is situated in Wicklow, often referred to as the Garden of Ireland. A stunning location a stone’s throw from beautiful lakes and mountain walks.
I highly recommend this as a perfect location to visit for anybody looking for inspiration or a simple retreat from the world. On a calm day, when the lakes are like glass, and you escape the main crowd, it can be the essence of serenity.

Very mystical place...beautiful old cemetery...place was founded around 6th century...situated in the Wicklow Mountains...superb ride with the motorbike.
Start in Hollywood and just follow the scenic road over the pass down into the glen.

A place full of history and beauty. Although it is very well visited you can find quiet moments in the churchyard and the remains of the monastery.

Very suggestive place in a wild part of the Wicklow mountains. Must visit as part of a drive through the area. You can pay a short visit or take one of the paths and go for a lovely walk around the lake or through the forest and bring a picnic. Can be very busy and although there are loads of carpark spaces it can fill up quickly and the main road is quite narrow. We went there on Stephen's day and the public toilets were closed, a pity. Also luckily there was a food truck which has quite a good selection of savoury and sweet snacks and hot and cold drinks. The main restaurant was also closed. Can be very cold so dress appropriately.

We enjoyed our visit here and spent more time than expected! It was a beautiful day so after exploring the ruins we decided to do a few of the trails. We found the trail map a bit confusing and ended up on a much longer trail to the falls than we were hoping for but luckily it was still all beautiful scenery to enjoy. We were there on a Sunday in October and it was busy with tour buses, families and many cars but it never felt too crowded since there's so much space to share.

There is place for food that you can buy. You can bring your own food as there are separate tables surrounded with nature were you can eat. Just love this place.

Beautiful and mythical place. Founded in the 6th century as a monastery. Several ruined churches can be seen here as well as the old graveyard. The round tower is one of the last remaining ones. The site can be a bit crowded with all the tour busses. So pick your time. There’s a visitor centre and toilets nearby. Also a restaurant. A nice starting point for hike trails as well.

The Wicklow Mountains are an expansive range of mountains that house ancient Neolithic passage tombs, rare and unique bird species, and a diverse array of flora and fauna. Visitors can take a tour from Dublin for only 22, which includes transportation to the mountains where they can enjoy picturesque walks, capture stunning photographs, and even have lunch. This location has also been the backdrop for famous movies such as P.S. Love You.
Beautiful stunning landscape!
It has 2 beautiful lakes and several tracking paths. Ideal for having a walk or a picnic.
It has 2 car parks but if you decide to go on a weekend or bank holiday i would advise to go really early. Roads are narrow and you'll get stuck in traffic for at least an hour.
Iam totaly going back and i try another walking track.

The Wicklow mountains are beautiful and are a very scenic route to drive. We drove along the Old Military Road as well. When you see a lovely spot, you stop right there, in the middle of the road and take a photo. It was not that busy. A lovely drive that you will remember for a very long time.

Breathtaking views, amazing greenery, great walking paths, lovely fresh air....need I go on? Don't hesitate and get yourself down there.
If you are a picture taking enthusiast then this place is for you. There are many amazing points for you to angle that camera and take shots from: Poulanass Waterfall, Nature Reserve points, Ancient Burial grounds, Wildlife (we saw a Fox and some Deer). The Glendalough Upper Lake was absolutely stunning and my favourite spot.
This is a great place to take the family or even your loved one to. A day trip to explore history, take long walks and get some exercise all at the same time with some of those much loved 'selfie' moments. Why not bring your dog along too if you have one - plenty for them to do!
There are tuck-shops for you to buy food from and I would recommend the chips as they were absolutely brilliant (especially on a cold day!). If you are a family with kids, you could bring your own picnic, and set-up in the various parts of greenery. Bring a Frisbee too for the kids/adults.
*You can use Gas fire BBQ's if you are planning to do this here but not Coal fired BBQ's I imagine due to safety reasons.
This is a good site for hikers as this is within Wicklow Mountains and we saw a lot of hikers preparing for camp.
Fishing enthusiasts will be pleased to know you can fish here amongst some of the lakes and rivers: most common fish found is the Brown Trout.
It will get cold so do wrap up warm if the weather is anything below 10 degrees.
Enjoy the panoramic views and beauty encompassing Wicklow Mountains.
Loftus Hall, located in the hauntingly beautiful Hook Peninsula, is a 14th-century residence that offers spooky tours for visitors. The interactive guided tour takes you through the ground floor of this abandoned mansion, where you can learn about its haunted history. The property also features activities like a climbing wall and zip wire for kids. Many visitors have described it as a must-visit for thrill-seekers due to its unsettling atmosphere and eerie reputation as Ireland's most haunted house.
Legend has it this is the most haunted place in Ireland, it certainly fits the bill. Even in the middle of the day, it's bleak entrance is uninviting and cold. There's definitely an unsettled feeling in the atmosphere around Loftus Hall.
Worth a visit before it turns into a hotel, a must for the thrill seeker once it has 😆

Very disappointing with this house tour. Went there with friends to take the Halloween tour. It was very mediocre. The actors did there best with a very poor story line. It was very expensive for what they offered. They could have done so much to make it better. The best part of it was to get to see the beautiful staircase.

Great tour, friendly staff!
Would recommend this place highly while you have the chance as it will be finishing up soon! After taking part in this tour, I was very sad to hear that they won't be able to continue this tour as the building is up for sale, but very glad we got to see it!
Very creepy, yet beautiful house. The stories behind it are sad, yet interesting and anyone with an open mind & good imagination would love it.
We were also informed that they couldn't perform jump scares due to Covid-19 (which I was grateful for) but I don't think the tour even needs them since the place is so creepy on its own anyway! (We wore masks and kept our distance from eachother)
Beautiful area surrounding it, and Hook Lighthouse is nearby as well which I would also highly recommend!
Our tour guide was very funny and kept you interested throughout, and the girl at the welcome desk was very friendly & helpful too!
Great start to our staycation!

GET THE BRENNANS BACK!!
Loftus Hall which markets itself as Ireland's most haunted house is blessed with finding itself situated on the Hook Peninsula which is a mecca for tourists. Surrounded by the sea and adorned with beautiful gardens, it's a lovely place to visit. However there is something missing here which leaves visitors scratching their heads in wonderment. Loftus is heavily marketed towards first time visitors curious about the rich history . However once you've done the tour you're not going to go back on a regular basis. And if you are a local just looking for a coffee or a bite to eat the €4 entrance fee is a bit steep. Granted, the entrance fee allows access to the spectacular gardens and on a fine day there is no better way to spend an hour than admire the beautiful borders. They have a lovely Cafe, sheltered courtyard with a bbq area which was noticeably empty. I really feel that they are missing a trick here and one should be able to go to the cafe without being charged an entrance fee. The cafe itself did not have a huge selection, mainly cakes and coffee. Another missed opportunity, maybe the owners could have an amazing kitchen garden which supplies the cafe.
Maureen Gilbert — Google review
It was like going to dinner theater instead of a haunted house. And the worse part was they would not let us take photos of the lovely stairs or anywhere inside the house.
The grounds were beautiful and the tour (actor) guide was very entertaining
Kevin B. Leigh — Google review
If your fascinated with a haunting ghost story, this is the place for you. It's a guided tour only. The tour guide was friendly, helped react the 'devil's tale in the card room with audience help. Some younger patrons found this scary! I went to look at the house, it's architecture and history, so was bit disappointed. We got to visit six rooms, including entrance hall, very dark music room, dark card room, 'haunted' bedroom and chapel/prayer room (converted by nuns). Tour was confined to ground floor only. Mosiac tile floor and grand Staircase are marvellous and staircase so well maintained, thanks to paraffin & beeswax applied throughout many years by the nuns. It is one of three, with one on Papal house in Rome and other in the Titanic, which we all know now lies at bottom of Alantic Ocean. The house an on-going extensive repair and conservative project. The walled gardens are beautiful too.
Caroline Kavanagh — Google review
They played more towards a haunted house feeling with lighting effects and sound effects. Which killed it for me as all it needs is a quiet atmosphere. Only got to see 4 rooms all in and the tour was finished.
Plus to get out we were charged €2 to get out of the car park.
Jamie Adam — Google review
A very good your. The tour guide Colm really added to the experience. The house its self needs a lot of restoration to bring it back to its former glory. Hopefully they will put more money back in to the house to improve it.
The Hook Lighthouse, located on the southern tip of Hook Head in Wexford, Ireland is a popular tourist attraction that has been standing for over 800 years. The lighthouse's tower, built in the 13th century, boasts great views and can be accessed by a half-hour guided tour that includes climbing up its 115 steps. Visitors can also enjoy the on-site shop and cafe or take walks along the surrounding shore while picnicking on grassy grounds.
A fantastic fun fresh air filled family day out. Bring the dog, a picnic or campervan. Tour was brilliant, guides are so knowledgeable and make it fun. Views and walks are amazing. Visit the hook this year, the lighthouse is waiting for you.

Great place to visit. Plenty of parking, looking out over the ocean or on the grounds of the lighthouse. When we got there the view over the ocean was taken by camper vans and in all honesty, if I had a camper, I'd be parked right with them. Magnificent views with a chance to see dolphins, seals, and if you're extra lucky, whales have been spotted. The lighthouse itself is fabulous. There are guided tours all day and although I didn't take one this time, I have taken one in the past and the guides are first class. Didn't check tour price but last time they were pretty reasonable. There's a walkway by the wall where you can look out to sea and lots of little info on the walls. There's a cafe, gift shop, toilets, art studio, picnic area and maratime museum. There's also a play area for children. There's also a weather station on the grounds. Recommended. Go visit.

The light house had some neat history and even had a small food vendor outside to grab a coffee or a burger. The views surrounding the lighthouse were absolutely great. There were some nice hiking trails around the area as well. It was a perfect spot to sit and watch the waves crash onto the stone.

A geographically well positioned landmark with sweeping views of the sea. If there's even a chance of rain in the forecast be sure to bring a raincoat as umbrellas simply won't hold up in the wind. It's worth a visit even if you arrive after lighthouse opening hours.

Nice place to visit for the day. I like seeing that they are expanding the place and offer more and more things to do, to eat etc. Coffee is really good there and the views are amazing. Plenty of parking and the pirate's playground is really cool. Lots of tables and grass area to have a picnic. TIP: it's always windy there so make sure you wear proper clothes and layers. Nice weather may mislead you.

During the summer you have to get there early as parking along the road gets packed. But I’m saying that it’s an easy flat walk to the lighthouse and it’s stunning.
The rocks can get slippery so take care but definitely stay to see the last man lighthouse turn the light on. Just a great day even the drive out there was a dream come true.

Fascinating visit to the lighthouse. Weather was just right and clear enough to see the views. Fabulous tour by Tracy - interesting to hear the history and facts. Standing sentinel at the edge of Ireland, Hook Head Lighthouse is a place where time seems to fold in on itself. This iconic structure, nestled on the rugged Hook Peninsula in County Wexford, boasts an incredible distinction – it's the oldest operational lighthouse in the world. With medieval origins tracing back over 800 years, it's a monument to Ireland's rich coastal heritage.
Stepping inside Hook Head Lighthouse feels like uncovering a hidden world. The guided tour is a must, whisking you through winding staircases and echoing chambers. Knowledgeable guides regale you with tales of monks, knights, and the lives of dedicated lighthouse keepers. As you climb, stories seep from the very stones, painting a vivid picture of the lighthouse's centuries-long role.
Reaching the balcony is a breathtaking reward. The panorama unfolds: crashing waves sculpting the coastline, seabirds gliding effortlessly, and perhaps even a glimpse of a whale or dolphin. The raw power of nature feels invigorating.
Beyond its practical role, Hook Head Lighthouse has a certain mystique. Locals say the phrase "by hook or by crook" originated here. Whether this is fact or folklore, it's easy to understand why this dramatic spot inspires legends.
While steeped in history, Hook Head Lighthouse doesn't feel frozen in time. The visitor center offers engaging exhibits, and the café serves up delicious treats showcasing local produce. Whether you're a history buff, nature lover, or simply seeking a unique Irish experience, Hook Head Lighthouse leaves a lasting impression.

Brilliant. We went on a tour with Noel; he was bloody magic. Hilarious, super passionate about his role, and made the kids on the tour feel super special. The little girl he let “turn on the lights” gave him a spontaneous (and to all of us, quite emotional) hug at the end which says it all. Travelled on to meet my family in Cobh, turns out my uncle Nick was in the last lighthouse family in Hook. Got to hear a very personal account of the experience of the people who’d been in the video! Small world 🤯🥰

We booked the tour online and weren't disappointed. Our guide was knowledgeable and the tour was great. We climbed the lighthouse and stopped in each chamber for a chat. This was an amazing tour. It was evident that our guide John was passionate about the history of this area and lighthouses. I can not remember having a tour guide anywhere that was better. We were actually moved to tears at points. He made the experience so personal. The view was incredible from the top and we were able to walk down on the rocks. Our guide was exceptional. He got fully into the story and his history knowledge was fantastic. John led us into the tale with so much enthusiasm.
I have some mobility issues and it is a walk up the steps, but we split it into three levels so I managed a rest between each section. Our guide also was very accommodating and waited until I got up.
The lighthouse itself is a wonderful building and the views even on the cloudy windy day we had, were breathtaking.

My mum and myself were left very disappointed with our recent visit to Rathwood, especially the restaurant. We've been coming to Rathwood from when it opened over 20 years ago.
Upon entering the restaurant, we were left waiting at the door for roughly 10 minutes. We were then shown to a table and told that some menus would be brought over to us. Nothing. I got up and got them myself. Another long wait. The menu was limited, mediocre and frankly, disappointing. The food, the same. I don't know why they have changed their service.
Rathwood appears to be now aimed at children with plenty of play areas and fun rides which has taken over a previous area with home and garden items.
Not what it used to be.

Delighted with our Pandora pergola which we got a few weeks ago. Excellent service from Rathwood and Listowel Garden Centre. Delivery on the day and time they said, it is worth paying for the more expensive delivery option as it makes the whole process easier. Pergola arrived less than a week after buying. Easy to assemble, though it is essential to have at least two and ideally four people to help out. It is doing a very good job of shade from the sun and shelter from showers. Have opened the slates when there was a deluge just to be on the safe side as has a bad experience before with a gazebo. Overall very happy and would recommend both Rathwood and Listowel Garden Centre.

Nice place to wonder around. Lovely ladies shops, my elderly mam got some lovely clothes. Nice garden centre too, the lunch was a bit disappointing, the gluten free food options weren't great, I had soup and bread as there wasn't a lot of hot food options, chips were not cooked separately but it's understandable to be honest as they cater for large crowds and food has to be pre made. Other than that, I'd go again, thanks.

Wrong items delivered, no responsibility held to swap them and handle their own issue, zero quality control - overall terrible experience
We ordered and fully paid for a garden set for 1800 euros (!!!) way in advance of summer to save money. We intended to get it for a big family event and invited a lot of people in advance, even abroad.
They delivered a broken chair (one of the legs is bent too much, it's just unsafe to use!) and WRONG table base/top for the set, so its just impossible to assemble it to use properly! I called the same day to report it but they said they can't do anything - no substitutions until late September (which is almost 3 months later, when summer is over!). Thats a terrible customer experience and zero empathy, no wish to go forward - i was okay with a used(!) substitute from a showroom as i really needed that furniture set for the event i mentioned.
To prove that its a legit complaint - order SO84873-35, customer request 125843

We went out with the kids in the car with the intention of buying wood, but found they had a lovely restaurant and loads of indoor and outdoor stuff for the kids. Loads of other shopping areas too. Very helpful staff made my choice easy. A pallet of good value hardwood delivered within a week. Will go again.

Arrived on time, and driver was helpful. Chairs are very solid and of good quality as is the table once assembled, which is not hard to do. The reason for the 3 stars. The cushioning does not match the quality of the rest of the set. Its very thin my wife who is 9 stone can feel the ridges of the rattan quite soon after sitting. We like the set but are now going to have some seat cushions made for comfort.

Great place to visit during winter as Santa's train starts moving around and you get to meet Santa and his elves
Definitely a place to take your little ones for an eventful day
David Gasirabo — Google review
Poor quality product and when I contacted Rathwood they told me that this model (Barcelona range) was made from stainless steel which does rust there they were unable to help even though they tell you it is painted in a protect powder
coating.
I bought from them thinking I wld get a good quality product but as pics show, it is not fit for purpose! I used a protective cover over the winter aswell which clearly didn't help.
Wld also highlight that their supposed 'sale' like a few other stores never seems to end so don't be fooled into believing you are getting a good deal!
Very disappointed as the furniture looks so nice when purchased and wld have added the table set to complete the look if didn't have this experience.
Steer clear of RW - poor quality & customer service!

We had a really bad experience here, the place was filthy dirty. Tables and chairs with food, sauce footmarks all over them. No one cleaning around or even staff to come and help clean. I paid €65 for an Eddie Rocektts as the restaurant had closed. It was disgusting. €7:50 for 2 chicken nuggets and chips this is the child’s portion size. €11:50 for my burger which was slop. When I complained they just shrugged all pre-made I was as told. Complain to the owner, Thomas Farrell catering company. This is the standard Rathwood is letting on their premises it won’t last much longer. The Santa train was a joke no interaction with the elves. Put in a room to wait on the train, down through the woods, rushed into the big top. The show was good. A then a huge queue in the freezing cold to see Santa. We won’t be back again I’d much rather spend my money on the discovery park or wells house. At least I know it will be clean.

I have had the pleasure of visiting rathwood twice in the last few weeks . Once for afternoon tea and once for breakfast ...both visits we were attended to by the lovely Sinead . She was so professional and welcoming . All the staff were cheerful and smiling . The food is beyond my expectations. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to return ....and best of all afternoon the amazing food I got to spend an hour walking around the shops ...and better again there was a sale on . I cannot recommend every aspect of rathwood enough ...

Altamont Gardens, situated on the banks of River Slaney in Ireland, is a stunning 16-hectare landscape consisting of manicured lawns and woods. It also boasts an arboretum that houses a variety of oaks and rhododendrons. The gardens are home to an assortment of wildlife such as peacocks, swans, squirrels and wild hare that roam around the area surrounding the ornamental water-lily lake.
Really enjoy Altamont gardens. Lovely place to visit especially in February and early March when all the snowdrops are out. Really nice grounds to walk around. Enjoyed a nice coffee and cake in the cafe. Thought the garden nursery was expensive for plants.

Lovely garden, with both sunny and shaded area. The main garden with walk around the pond is mostly accessible for the pram / wheelchair and has some benches / chairs for resting. That walk takes about an hour at a leisurely pace. The woodland walk was closed when I was there due to ground conditions caused by the recent wet weather. The cafe outside is very nice, providing cakes / desserts, coffee, tea, soup with brown soda bread, and commercial sandwiches (from the fridge). Toilets are outside in the parking area. Dogs are not allowed in the garden. Parking is 2 euro for the day.

Wow. Where to start. It is at times beautifully manicured and at times frighteningly wild. Such variety, great coffee and cake, a fantastic walk. Toilets and a garden centre too. A top place.

Beautiful garden in Carlow. fabulous display and variety of plants, trees ,flowers. A lovely forest walk down to the river Slaney. A garden center and coffee shop. You could spend the day there easily, fun for all ages. Paid parking but plenty of it and lots of picnic benches. Plenty of seating for those with mobility issues and toilet facilities.

Oh so many beautiful gardens on our island. OPW acquired this from Corona, who achieved wonders in feminising the traditional stark Georgian garden. Her father before her took a great interest in rhododendron seedlings (from which Corona was given her name). The trees, plants, fields, lake and follies are wonderful. Take a tour if you get a chance, Lina was our guide, and she excelled herself. Thanks all.

Lovely walk. We got drawn into the garden centre first. Make sure to see the apple trees down the back because they are awesome and quite a lot of effort must have gone into growing them that way. Then we got lost in the oasis that is the walk from mature garden to woodland walk it was a lovely way to spend a few hours with the family

Beautiful walk yesterday with two of our grandchildren took the woods way this time. Wonderful place. Plenty of parking for just 2.00. Toilets open but not cafe at this time of year. Visited again with 2 grandchildren. Beautiful place and walks. Lovely time of year to visit. Stopped for refreshments before we went home kids had hot chocolate and gingerbread men. Adults had two lovely cups of soup and brown soda bread. Delicious 😋

Great spot to visit. Car parking costs €2 and is patrolled by a warden. The main house itself is not open to the public and is probably in need of repairs...but Altamont is all about the gardens!!! To the right of the house is the cafe and shop, which is located inside the walled garden. The cafe serves pre-made sambos, cakes, coffee and tea. The tables are all surrounded by plants, it's a really nice space to enjoy your grub. The shop is also located here and sells plants and flowers. There are quite a few picnic tables scattered about if you want to bring your own food.
You access the main gardens via a gate to the right of the house. There is a small OPW office at the gate, and there are free guided tours run every hour. The gardens are seriously impressive. Very well kept and maintained. The first part are more formal, leading to a lake with ducks. From here there is a river walk I would highly recommend that is circular and brings you back to the lake past a small stone structure called the temple. Note this trail has some rough ground so probably not suitable for buggies or small kids.
Put Altamont gardens on your list and also pop in to see Rathgill hillfort which is just down the road!
The Dunbrody Famine Ship and Irish Emigrant Experience is a top tourist attraction in Wexford. It features a replica of an 1840s emigrant vessel with exhibits, guided tours by costumed interpreters, and a cafe. Visitors can gain insight into the harsh realities faced by the Irish during their migration to other countries. The experience offers visitors a glimpse into the strength and bravery of the people during this difficult period in history.
A great experience! Jim was a very good informative tour guide. He brought the realities of the ship to life. The two ladies who re-enacted a conversation between a passenger in steerage and an upper-class passenger were excellent. They included the tour customers and one of the children in their show (it's very child friendly!) and everyone enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved it, a truly wonderful place to learn about the conditions on board famine ships and I thought the Irish American Hall of fame was a stirring tribute to the hard work and achievements of so many Irish emigrants. I had two excellent guides - Jayson and Adam who were very friendly, informative and enthusiastic.

Living locally and visiting family I pass the Dunbrody weekly, Last time on board was during the tall ships in county Waterford and what great memories!
When friends visited from the states it was top of the list, We were blown away. The tour itself lasted approximately 35 minutes (we had a small tour) and afterwards your free to explore the ship at your own pace.
The staff! Amazing, kind and so friendly. They go above and beyond.

Very interesting visit. The employees are lovely. There is a car park which costs 50 cents every half hour. 2 hours is enough. There is a nice restaurant above that sells meals, cakes etc, Quite expensive. There are cheaper options downstairs, pizzas etc (12 euros) but you eat it outside. Ok if it isn’t raining!!! The tour of the ship is interesting. Two actresses come and speak on the boat. A rich, first class passenger and a poor, second class passenger. Leaflets in different languages available.

I highly recommend visiting this exhibition to anybody. They do a great job portraying the life of the Irish that left during the famine.
Many people ended up in America, And came on ships similar to this. They even have one of their Team members dress up as one of the original ship passengers to come down to meet you on the boat.
Do not miss the opportunity to experience this for yourself if you are in the area
Russborough House is an extravagant estate featuring Palladian design, offering visitors guided tours and access to a walled garden that dates back to the 18th century. Additionally, visitors can stroll through the historic walled garden, which showcases beautiful scenery and adds to the overall historical charm of Russborough House.
Beautiful and well maintained gardens. Some HUGE redwoods and other exotic species. We went in late October and the garden was quiet and relaxing. A good half a day out.

Lovely gardens being renovated with a very small staff of volunteers. The special points of the garden are the monkey puzzle avenue which I've never seen before. There is a rose garden and a lovely lavendar avenue. The tea room is a must visit with home made cakes and some of the best scones I've ever had. Reasonable prices too.
Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a buggy driven round the grounds by Woodstock Lenny who will transport anyone to the cafe. This was so useful to us as I cannot walk too far. And his little Jack Russell is a sweet little companion.
Although the gardens are still being developed you can see the hard work that's been put in by everyone in the recently weeded borders and the clipped hedges. I love this garden because of the care and the people running it. A bargain at 5 euros for parking.

Wow, what a surprise to find this when doing a short walk from Inistioge.
We were there in end August and while we did not see much blooming and flowers, this was still impressive.
Definitely recommend to come here and if you are able to: do the walk from the center of Inistioge instead of using a car. Saves you €5 for car park as well, but the walk itself also has magnificent views.

Woodstock Gardens is a perfect place to visit with family and friends, even better it's dog friendly. Really lovely walk around the gardens and into the wood, you can really spend as much as as little time as you'd like. There's a place you can get some refreshments inside and outside near the car park. Note, there's a 5 euro fee for the car park, you pay on the way out and they accept card which is handy. Lovely way to spend a day.

Good we are out our nappies, poor incontinent people, not being able for minimum of dignity. Nothing worst that can happen to you as a tourist than to spend a day somewhere without opportunity to discard minimum . It points to bad management. Leftovers of pumpkins, cans are completely acceptable when there are so many acres with no bin. Not first of the kind but if there is a way to find out before would sure be the last.

So glad ranchos has reopened, had a great weekend. Eoin, oisin and the team have done a great job cleaning and rebuilding it, the new cafe is a great addition and the menu is perfect and delicious. Can't wait to see what else they add. Tractor ride is great not just for kids but and its free and that includes the muddy pool they drive into.

Lots of confusion here with the name etc. So it's still rancho reilly. Rustic is gone. It's a campsite only but has its own pet farm. The old main building is gone due to a fire. We have a new sole owner the amazing Eoin whom is the host with the most. A lot of investment has gone into updating the site and its very visible. Playground loads new stuff. New cafe that doubles as a common area. Toilets are maintained throughout the day. The free frog hunt and tractor rides are a great unique touch. Eoin travels the campsite over the weekend having fun with all the guests eg playing football, tennis even raced a bunch of us and yes he won. You can't help but want him and rr to succeed and excell. We thought we would just go this once but are already planning our return. Nearest shops are 3 mins drive away. One pic is of kt fight that was put up on a big screen in the camping area (not sure whom organised but thank you). Highly recommended to all families.

Newbridge Silverware houses a stylish visitor centre comprising of a homeware and jewellery store, a restaurant, and a fashion museum. The store provides an immersive browsing experience with an extensive selection of gorgeous Christmas tree decorations making it the perfect place to find unique gifts for loved ones. The staff are always welcoming, and the cafe is highly recommended for those looking to grab a bite. Upstairs in the museum of style icons, visitors can marvel at iconic fashion pieces from past eras.
Their museum of style icons is very interesting. Clothing and ephemera of famous people on display.
Their ‘pre loved’ antiques (NOT their products I might add) department is a bit of a joke with prices so high, items are 5 to 10 times the price compared what you’d buy the stuff for on auction websites!

The only people who want to be here is the older demographic going bananas over the prices of items here. I’m pretty sure the staff are pretty much done and ready to push everything online so they don’t need to engage the masses.
One point less for the creepy Xmas themed area and the green handed mannequins looking like the grinch. In June.

A fabulous layout, the gardens are intricate and interesting. There are lots of fun surprises in the layout of the Japanese gardens too, we had small children with us and they were safe and able for all the steps and climbs. I would say some of it isn’t suitable for prams or wheelchairs but a lot of the grounds are. The plant diversity was wonderful. The food in the cafe on the grounds is more dinner food, it is quite expensive but the portions are big and the food is well worth it. The staff are polite and the cafe and grounds are very clean.

The Japanese Gardens are beautifully serene and very soulful....Well worth the money

A beautiful place to visit for a walk or a day out with the family. Amazing gardens, and you also get to see fabulous houses in stables and out in the paddocks. The playground for children is safe and has loads to amuse, including sandboxes.
The gardens offer a feast for the eyes and are a place of zen and calm.
Finishing off your day in the restaurant where they serve wholesome dinners, sweet treats, and the best coffee ever!
I've become a yearly ticket holder because I love it so much, and it's great value, but you can also pay on the day.
A must see if u visit Kildare

Had a lovely time wandering around. There were two foals born the day before, which was nice to see. There is a lovely Japanese garden and a fairy trail for the children to follow. Also a play area and somewhere to eat and a gift shop.

We were lucky enough to fit this in before our trip to the airport and I wish we'd had 2 or 3 more hours. It is an incredible facility. The animals are clearly well looked after. We missed the gardens because I lingered too long in the interactive experience and visiting the horses :)
There were lots of babies and moms as they haven't been weaned yet this time of year. The weather was gorgeous which made for an even better experience.
The food was good and they had plenty of gluten free options.
Our baby even got to pet a million dollar retired race horse (exercising caution of course) he LOVED it.
Incredible to see. Highly recommend.

It was quick getaway for the bank holiday weekend. Typical Irish weather with rains, but I must say we really enjoyed our visit.
Saw the stallions and the stud farm. Japanese Garden was my favourite. It was truly an adventure walking though the garden. It is well designed and laid out.
Will recommend for a nice family outing.

This was a great experience. We paid extra for the guided tour and Japanese gardens along with the horse riding experience.
Katie was a great tour guide and a lovely girl! The tour was fantastic and we learnt a lot.
The horse riding experience was so much fun, and I'd highly recommend it!
The Japanese gardens are lovely, and there's loads of hidden paths around it.
Overall, the whole day was fantastic, and I'd recommend it for a family day out!

Well worth a visit. I highly recommend joining a tour if you can, as it was very informative and interesting. Lovely grounds to walk around and plenty to see to keep you occupied for a couple of hours. If you are going with children, then the interactive museum ticket is a good add-on. The cafe was really good - the soup I had was absolutely delicious!
Retailer offering classic clothing, handbags & accessories from the designer brand.
Michael Kors showroom in the Kildare village have good collection of apparels. There is good discount on all the products. The staffs are very helpful. The place is very crowded in the weekends. One of the reason is good quality products and discounts. Kildare village have frequent connectivity to city centre through bus and have a big parking space if you are coming by car.

Very unfriendly staff.
The Chinese girl treated us badly at the entrance, shouting to us. Promised to get inside the shop in less than 40min, waiting 1h15 min and didn't get in.
I am so disappointed with the staff service.
There were more people complaining at the time.

Kilkenny Castle is one of Irelands most significant historical attractions, with an artfully restored interior and large garden. The castle was built by Anglo-Norman William Marshal for his wife in the early 1300s, and it became the Irish residence of the Butler family for 600 years. Today, the castle dominates Kilkenny City and its complex story can be pieced together through eight centuries.
Beautiful castle and grounds. We bought tickets in advance online which is recommended, though there was no line when we arrived anyway (about 11am on a Sunday). We did the self tour and although I’m sure we missed out on a lot of information that a guided tour would provide, I felt we got enough out of the self tour to make it more than worth it. Especially enjoyed the art gallery. Be sure to take the extra time to explore the castle grounds before or after your visit.

Absolutely beautiful castle. We did a guided tour and the guide was phenomenal. Extremely kind, patient, and intelligent. She was fabulous. I highly recommend taking a tour with her as we never would have gotten as much out of it if we didn't go with her. Best decision we made.

I loved that they allow going to the garden without paying. We did that because my 9 yo was tired & not interested in going in. Beautiful garden & a magnificent structure! Also the history was amazing to hear from our Dublin based tour guide! Amazing view of the river from the court!

Took guided tours ... it's at the end of the season (mid-September) and our group was small, my friend and I and one other couple so it was a great tour, very intimate allowing us to as plenty of questions. My friend was over 60 and was able to get a discount on her ticket

Such a beautiful and interesting place! The OPW have done a magnificent job restoring and maintaining this castle. Makes it easy to imagine life for the people who lived there. Definitely worth a visit. We ran out of time to properly explore the gardens, which are free to enter with no ticket - leave some time for that, in addition to the castle interior.

We did the self guided tour and there was lots of interesting information. The rooms of the castle are definitely worth seeing.
The castle cafe serves amazing cakes and very generous pots of tea.
It was a lovely sunny day and the grounds and garden of the castle are great to walk around. We sat for quite a while in the garden enjoying the sunshine.
Enjoyed our visit and would definitely go back again.

From the outside, Kilkenny Castle presents itself more as a stately palace than a traditional castle, holding beautifully manicured gardens that invite a leisure stroll. However, it's the inside that truly captivates visitors. The interiors transport you straight into a bygone era with incredibly well-preserved rooms adorned with authentic furniture, carpets, and art pieces. Every detail, from the doors to the roofs, narrates a rich history, offering a nostalgic trip back in time. A visit to Kilkenny Castle isn't just a tour; it's a rich, immersive journey through history that leaves you enchanted.

Liked the architecture of the place. The paintings and tapestry were great.
Really enjoyed the tapestries just before the exit, those inspired from the French Bayeux Tapestry.
Loved the big hall, you MUST look at the ceiling and those statues hanging there. Beautiful!

We did the self tour , a lot of posted information available. I'd agree with some of the other reviews the tapestries and the remnants of original wall coverings were my favourite . My husband's was the amazing Vikings style architecture used in the ceiling of the long room. I did not give 5 stars because it felt a too full up of non original furnitures and such in

Nice place for a day visit. Is very well maintained and provides a curious insight into the era bygone and the living of the wealthy.. Doesn't take much time to cover it, even for a very intent visitor 2-3 hours would be enough. Highlight for me was the tapestry section. They were really marvellous!!. However for the downside, they seriously need to work on the signage. It is not very clear anywhere where one is supposed to start the tour, move next and where it all ends!!. For a public place and an intricate building it is an absolute must.. I hope it is not their deliberate ploy to intice visitor's for opting a guided tour!!.. The garden outside is expansive, with play area for kids and very much suited for a nice stroll.. Though a few more flower beds will definitely give spruce up its character!!.. All in all definitely one time visit..

I had a lovely experience visiting the Kilkenny Castle. I opted for a self-guided tour and didn't feel like I missed out on anything since there is plenty of information by each display. The castle has been beautifully restored throughout the years, also offering facilities such as free lockers and clean toilets. I would definitely recommend a visit to the castle and its grounds when visiting Kilkenny.

Great history of Kilkenny and the castle. Well preserved and the QR codes really help to explain more than the signage can relay. The tea room makes for a nice little stop and snack.

Good tourist attraction in the city. Lots of history dating centuries ago. Castle is easy to navigate and surrounding areas around castle is big too. Well maintained and recommend people to visit here. We had pre booked the tickets and you can buy at the counter too. The Smithwick's Experience is an interactive guided tour of the brewery where visitors can learn about the history and production of Smithwick's Ale. The tour includes holographic projections, hands-on experience with old brewing equipment, and visits from passionate staff who have decades of experience working at the brewery.
Smithwick's is one of my absolute favorite Irish Beers. Many people will always go for Guinness, which is good, but for me I prefer Smithwick's. My wife booked a tour and surprised me with it last time we were in Dublin. Just a short couple hour bus drive and we were there. It was a really awesome tour. The tour guide had been working there for all his life, as a matter of fact his great grandfather started working here. He said that they really believe in hiring family (if they want to work there), and it has kept the tradition of their brewing style alive.
It is not as interactive as other brewery torus I have been on, but it is great to see some of the history of how they began and their brewing process.
I can say that has been a great thing since their beer is so great!

Great tour, fun nosing and tasting all the ingredients, absolute gem of a guide, Katie is indeed a cutie! Keep her going 😃. Superb ales, tried the red ale, pale ale and kilkennies (red ale with nitrogen). Had very good fun, avsolutely worth the visit and detour if you hadn't planned it.

My partner and I went to Kilkenny just for the day and we discovered this experience - we didnt know that Smithwick had such a thing. So we went there on a Saturday at 11am.
I have to say that Jorg, our tour guide, was exceptional! The tour was super interesting because he had that facility to explain and make it super interactive and fun!
The experience/museum is very tiny, however, the last room is super nice and unique since you can taste and smell the ingredients from the beer.
My partner had for his first time the creamy smithwicks and he loved it! We went to the store and we got like 6 cans since we can’t find it here in Dublin 🤣
Super recommended for 44€ and a super well done to Jorg - amazing tour guide! It wouldnt be the same without him for sure

It was a really nice tour. We paid for the guided tour and ended up with a group of 6 total. The guide was very personable and gave great info between the videos. I thought the tour itself was very well done, mixing the Smithwick’s fascinating family history with info about their brewing style/process. I’ve done a number of brewery tours and this is way less commercialized than Heineken and Guinness.
I absolutely recommend the extra €3 for the tasting pallet at the end of the tour. The pub after was pretty cute!

Good tour although it's the first brew/distillery tour that I have been on where no operations are actually occuring. Kind of odd to see videos instead of actual happenings. The family history was very interesting. Our tour guide was extremely young and was very scripted

We paid €16 per adult online. This included a taster paddle with all three ales and I would highly recommended.
The standard price per adult is €15 for the experience (including one of three optional pints) , and the additional tasting is €3 when bought at the desk.
The tour was short but sufficient and packed with interesting history. Interactive and accommodating tour, with a knowledgeable guide. ( multiple language audio guides available). Seems to cater for wheelchair users also.

The place is beautifully refurbished and transformed to an "experience" compare to the past fully functional brewery. The venue itself is very beautiful but a bit too much of technology involved. It loses the sense of the real in some points.
It was Christmas Eve when we visited and you could say that our tour guide would rather be anywhere else that going around with tourists. Though, that made him to be honest and cut all the unnecessary marketing extras and be to the point. Very kindly and friendly answering anything he could and giving us a very authentic experience of the Irish hospitality without the cookie cutter corporate experience we had in Guinness factory in Dublin (same company group).
Of course they beer was amazing but I would stick with the ale, the rest wasn't something special to make me order them again.

The tour was fantastic! They clearly put a lot of effort into the presentation of the history of the Smithwick's brewery and family. Anna was a terrific guide and answered all of my questions. The lesson on the brewing process was quite comprehensive and interesting. This is one of the best brewery tours I have done. Highly recommended even if you already know your stuff.

Good fun. Adam was a jolly guide. Nothing overly spectacular but a grand way to spend an hour in Kilkenny.
When booking online they add €2 to each ticket for no apparent reason. Tried hard to find the reason for it but it wasn't documented anywhere. Ended up paying it but I would have rather kept the 6€ in my pocket instead of giving it to John Smithwick for no reason
John Browne — Google review
I honestly can't say enough good things about the Smithwick's Experience after visiting Kilkenny! I see some reviews mentioning that they do not make Smithwick's on site any longer taking from the experience which is true but we found during our visit that it was very pleasant.
You will have to go to the car park but it is very close & convenient. When we first walked in to the experience they had an original cobble part that was really cool to see showing you the way it was back in the original days. Our guide was on time and professionally took us on the journey into the evolution of Smithwick's. The animated experiences were well done and had a nice balance on our tour with the guide taking us through some parts & movie/animated parts for others. We learned how the beer was made and then came the best part of the experience for me, we went to the end of the tour into the ingredients table. Here you actually get to see, feel, and if you want to taste the ingredients in the steps. I LOVED this part!! I didn't know what hops tasted like in its harvested form for example, but I do now! Put up all the displays you want, this makes the experience for me. For us this really made it cool after hearing the history and how they make it. While Guinness does own the brand now, I feel like this tour is much better than the Guinness tour giving a more personal feel on the guided tour so I'm glad they haven't mimicked what they have at the Storehouse tour.
At the end of the tour you end up at the bar for your pint or in my case flight which was very good. I didn't realize that the Kilkenny is essentially Smithwick's with nitro but it was great. It also wasn't crowded which was a pleasant experience for us to be able to talk, especially after the Guinness bar was unbelievably busy so another feather in the cap of the quieter more personal feel of it. You end up in the merch store after having your pint or two & they have some nice things to try out.
I highly recommend this one for a great experience. If I am ever in Ireland again I would divert myself here just to come back & enjoy this experience again. When asked about memorable experiences from our trip to Ireland this comes up every time already with me telling people to add Kilkenny & the Smithwick's experience to their trip. Kilkenny is a great place to visit & if you want an experience away from hustle and bustle this is a great place to go.
WI Biker — Google review
The experience was a great combination of fun and education. It was much more than images on a wall and lectures. We got to see, smell, and touch throughout the tour which resulted in interaction among fellow visitors. This made our time enjoying our pint at the end of the tour much more fun as different groups chatted, folks helped take group photos, and employees stopped by to chat.
Marnee H — Google review
Was a last minute add on to our day and so glad we did. This far exceeded our expectations. Buying tickets online is a bit cheaper than when there, but there was more than plenty available when we booked an hour before the tour started (was a weekday). There were only 5 other people on our tour and the tour guide was so fun and interactive. We did another big name brewery tour in Dublin and this one was so much more personable. Tasting at the end was great too. Be sure to ask any questions to the bartenders/staff, they seem to take pride in working there and are very knowledgeable. Of course you sort of have to get the obligatory red ale, however, don't skip on the kilkenny ale- delish.

I enjoyed the Smithwick's Experience more than the Guinness Tour (but then found out they're owned by the same people so...)
Either way, it was a great tour, and I highly recommend not missing it if you're visiting Ireland. The town of Kilkenny is worth a day of visiting itself. Our guide was fantastic, and you were able to have a more intimate experience than the Guinness tour. Plus, I really like red ales now! Make sure to reserve a few days in advance because they did sell out.

The Smithwicks experience is a great brewery tour which was one of best I have been on. I am slightly biased given Smithwick's is one of my favourite pints to drink, but besides that the knowledge and history being discussed will be interesting to any visitor. The tour even discussed some prominent Irish history and dates I was not so sure of myself!
The best thing of all is the quality of the staff all of which were very welcoming. Jorg did a fantastic job taking us through the tour and getting some laughs as well as keeping us fully engaged throughout. Once we got to the bar, we got speaking to Simon who had a very impressive knowledge of the industry which was really fascinating. Overall, it felt well worth the money and would definitely advise people to give it a go.

I'm home! And we got a free sample of a new beer they are testing. I liked it, but, of course, I won't be able to get in the States!
W. SC — Google review
Maybe I just don't get it but I've been on a lot of brewery tours and this is the first time I've been on a tour where there was no actual brewing going on and the machines were fake. Instead of seeing actual beer being made, there's an LCD screen with CGI beer. And the worst part is that this is expensive. I've been on others that were free. I don't know how this gets good reviews. The tour guide was good but this whole thing is a joke.
The Black Abbey is a beautiful and historic catholic church in Ireland. The interior features an amazing stained glass east window, and the church also contains 10 carved stone coffins from the 13th and 14th century. The church is popular among tourists for its peaceful atmosphere, and it's also home to a small priory.
I really liked the black Abbey. Very striking stonework and the stained glass was beautiful.

This is a Catholic Priory of the Dominican Order that is dated back to 1225. The abbey is maintained so well that you will get to feel how this must have been used as a place of worship by the monks in the olden times even before the Kilkenny town became what it looks like today. The stained glass window, called as the rosary window is simply magnificent. There is a lot to see in this abbey that is significant from the past.

Colorfully Vibrant & Peaceful! Please don't let the name keep you from enjoying this oasis in the city. Beautiful abbey that is smaller and quieter than the bigger cathedrals in town, but no less impressive. The stained glass is especially striking and worth a visit for that alone.
The Cathedral of St Canice, the second-largest in Ireland, was built 800 years ago and is still in regular use. The beautiful medieval landmark has been carefully restored over the years, and features ancient grave slabs and the tombs of Kilkenny Castle's Butler dynasty. The Round Tower next door provides stunning views of the city and surrounding countryside.
Beautifully restored piece of ancient history. The staff were very helpful. The tour is both the cathedral and tower. Beware of windy days. This is a church mostly where services are still held. The ancient tombs inside are amazing. Don't forget to look on the floor and up at the amazing roof

Beautiful Cathedral in a stunning old town.
This is a beautiful old cathedral. Not the grandest but inside and outside are delightfully pretty and the ancient stonework is in superb condition. It looks really neat with the tower which is interesting in itself and a good climb. The views from the top is great but not brilliant...you can see the city but it is pretty flat. Helpful staff and entry is 4€ to the cathedral and tower...that’s all I paid anyway.
My visit: 15th October 2018.

We didn't get to tour the inside off this cathedral as it was after hours. It was still worthwhile to visit as it makes a striking mythical appearance against the sky. The cemetery is original to the cathedral. There are many tombstones and crypts that have been erased due to wind and rain. One can imagine this as the setting for a Halloween backdrop.

A medieval Cathedral that has been restored and is still used for worship. It's beautiful, tasteful and the audio tour was incredibly informative not only about the cathedral, but also about Kilkenny history.
I was unsure about doing an audio tour of an active worship space, but 10/10 recommend!! It's fascinating, and the self guided audio tour is top notch!
While you’re here if you’re not claustrophobic or scared of heights be sure to climb the tower. It was the highlight of our trip to Kilkenny…. And the thing I didn’t know or think I could do until I did it.
It’s basically several ladders… not as bad as I thought, but not for the faint of heart. View it worth it!

The place is great, especially the stained glass windows.
A word of caution - climbing up the tower is not for the faint hearted. With steep narrow steps ( sometimes only one sided rails), it's a tough task to the top.

It's a must visit cathedral in Kilkenny :) Very warm in tone and romantic (dreamy) inside. The stain glasses and meticulous artwork inside makes it unique. The self-guided audio tour is very informative and the climbing the tower is worth it for the stunning views of Kilkenny. Only if you're able-bodied though as climbing the ladder takes a bit of an effort due to its steepness. The staff were friendly and helpful which made this visit pleasant and enjoyable. I had learnt a lot about the history of Kilkenny and the significance of this cathedral. A must visit in Kilkenny.

Where Kelkenny got its name. It's historically significant. It witnessed the war against Cromwellians and was turned abandoned once. There are many eggifies and tombstones covered everywhere inside the church revealing the story and ornaments, outfits back in medieval times.

Well-preserved cathedral. A lot of information about its story is provided. For the brave there is also a nice but paid, view from the tower. All in all very nice, but not cheap. But if you like this kind of history stuff, it's totally worth it. For the climb onto the tower you need to be fit and free from giddiness.

This was a perfect stop! You can really take in the scale see these ruins! It sits atop a hill that has panoramic views of the world below. I could have spent hours climbing around the rocks! This is a free stop!

Nice ruins integrated into the landscape. It's usually very windy at the top. It is worth going to see the sunset because sometimes it can surprise you with its beauty. the remains of the castle are raw and have been slowly decaying for 300 years. A nice place, luckily not yet commercialized

Amazingly beautiful view of the area of this historic castle. A great place to bring kids. Be a little mindful of where you go, you could fall over the side if you are goofing around. There are no guides here.

From the top of the rock, you'll be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside. It's a perfect spot for capturing unforgettable photos or simply soaking up the fresh air and scenic beauty.
The climb to the top is manageable for most ages, and there's plenty of space for kids to explore the ruins while learning about the castle's past. While it's a gravel path to the top, you'll only be able to take a stroller to a certain point; so do keep that in mind if you're bringing one!

Lovely spot for some exploring and visiting a piece of history. Also has a small church across and graveyard with some very old headstones. Be warned the walk up is very steep and some areas do not have railings - not wheelchair accessible due to steps at the entrance.

Had a wonderful quick visit to the Rock of Dunamase. The panoramic views were absolutely breathtaking, offering a sweeping vista of the surrounding countryside. A must-visit for anyone interested in history and natural beauty.

It's a peaceful place with excellent views. It was not very crowded which makes it even more peaceful.
The views from the top were breathing. You can see the whole county from above.
The entrance is free.. If you are planning on visiting in Taxi, you might face issues on the return journey as most of the drivers might reject the trip due to the steep road that leads to the place.
It's also a single road so your driving skills might be tested :)
Overall a good place to visit if you are in Portlaoise.

Great ruins to visit. Free, with some parking (not a car park, just some street parking). Went on a cold windy day, but still had a great time. The view is wonderful. We were the only ones there.

Getting there was a bit tricky due to the Electric Picnic .. It must've been a magnificent castle. Now everything is under the ruins. I hope this was restored to a better state. No tickets and the car park was very small.

Nice, short walk up to the ruins, easy for anybody to do. Lovely views from the top.
On our travels to Durrow sightseeing the Castle and church in the square, decided to walk to Bob's bar. Strolled in on a Monday night and not a sinner in the place. Had a pint of guinness and a few snacks and walked around the pub to see the different rooms, alot of different artifacts to view, it's a bar and a museum, they do have a few TV's dotted around, nice outdoor area beside the river and located on the main street close to all amenities. My second time to visit this bar, first was in 2018 serving food for a wedding. A nice pub in a quiet town, will return.

Belvedere House Gardens & Park is a stunning estate that features a Palladian-style villa from the 1700s and Victorian gardens with charming follies. The highlight of the park is Belvedere House, an enormous 18th-century hunting lodge designed by Richard Cassels, which overlooks Lough Ennell and boasts exquisite rococo plasterwork in its upper rooms.
We had a fab afternoon visiting Belvedere House and Gardens. The place was absolutely beautiful and so well maintained. The fairy garden was the best we have ever visited. Our kids were in their element! The only downside was we didn't have enough time..we happily could have spent the whole day. We will definitely be back.

We spent 4 hours walking about this wonderful house, lake and woodlands.
Specimen trees, abundant with wildlife, statues and hidden and not so hidden surprises litter these grounds.
Well worth the entry price of €8... €6 for my generation!

Well worth a visit. You can book your ticket online, choosing the time of arrival. There is plenty of parking. The folly itself is very impressive, with the visitor centre and cafe built into the folly. The story behind its construction is the most interesting part, one angry brother blocking a view towards another angry brother's house (you can't choose your family!!) There is plenty to do once you're inside, tho note the house itself is closed for renovations. There are a series of walks of varying lengths. For smaller kids there is a decent playground, a fairy garden and a woodland swing (literally one swing down by the lake). The walk along by the lake is worth doing, some lovely views and it eventually loops back around to the walled garden, fairy garden and restaurant. The walled garden was possibly a bit run down, but note we visited in winter. A lot of the signs were fallen and broken etc. We finished up with a bite to eat in the cafe. Food was good.

We had a fantastic time shooting with a beautiful couple in the midst of a serene forest and sparkling lake on a crisp, cold day just a few days before Christmas. The scenery was breathtaking and the couple's love for each other shone through in every moment. It was such a joy to be able to capture these special memories for them to cherish forever. It truly felt like a winter wonderland and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting for this photoshoot.

It's a beautiful place to visit for nature lovers... Loads of walking to do and can take up to 2 to 3 hours to fully explore the place. 23 euros for a family of 4 which I felt is worth. The horticulture area mainly pertaining to the plants were well kept but the water bodies require a little more attention. I was amazed at the collection of beautiful flowers they had in. The fairy garden was cute but was small. We were there by 0430pm, but there were unusually tonnes of tiny flies which I was afraid would hit our eyes or nose. Absolutely loved the place, however was disappointed that the Belvedere house and cafeteria closes by 5pm even when the whole premises stays open until 8pm for the season.

Belvedere House and Gardens is the most magical of places. Beautiful walks along the lakeside in summer and the nicest place to view autumn leaves in a woodland setting. The house itself is very interesting and it has a lovely cafe attached for breakfast / lunch. Well worth the visit!

Nice place for a walk, picnic or family time. Adequate parking spots. There is a cafe inside, washrooms and children's play area inside the visitor centre. We went for family picnic with friends at the start of Feb so the garden wasn't blooming.
For me it is not worth a second visit when you have to pay 23 euros as a family entry fee, only for the sake of just the above!

Nice area for a walk around, Good amount of space - would be especially nice in the spring and Summer months. Interesting to read about and see the jealous wall. The Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery Visitor Experience is housed in a 19th-century warehouse and offers tasting tours, a restaurant, and a bar. The brand's whiskey has gained global recognition since its establishment in 1829, with the initials D.E.W. representing Daniel E. Williams, the distillery's former general manager.
A great way to pass a few hours, this is a beautiful visitor centre wore a great retail shop with lots of merchandise, there is also a restaurant on site with a delicious selection from small bites to a proper lunch. There are a number of various tours available do a little research before you get there, staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. We had a fantastic time on the tour today with the very pleasant and knowledgeable guide Michele & Alan our driver. The Irish coffee at the beginning of the tour was a great way to relax into the experience. Michele was very engaging and had an instant rapport with our group. We loved everything about the tour but the drink in the snug hidden among the caskets was the highlight for us. We would highly recommend the tour. Sláinte!

My father and I really enjoyed the distillery tour.
It is a beautiful distillery, and the staff were very welcoming and delightful on the tour.
Our tour was led by Vivienne and Ray. They were very knowledgeable and Vivienne made a wonderful Irish Coffee. The walk through the still house gives a good view of the process with a great bready smell of the wart and brewing process. We then rode to the warehouses and were able to enter one and get that wonderful smell of maturing whiskey from the casks through evaporation, or "The Angeles Share". Then back to the production building for a tasting / blending of 3 expressions of Tullamore D.E.W.
I highly recommend a tour of the Tullamore D.E.W distillery and the nice store there on site.
Thank you for a wonderful experience Vivienne and Ray.

Tullamore DEW Masterclass was a brilliant 90 minute introduction to Whiskey and what sets Tullamore apart from the others. Our guide, Toni, delivered all the information in a way we could all relate. The tour started from raw ingredients all the way up to maturation and tasting. Begrudgingly I was designated driver so my partner had 2x 6 tasting paddles, all delicious. I'm keen to go back for more of the tour and for more whiskeys not available on the shelf.
Ali Lloyd — Google review
Probably one if the greatest tours I have ever tried. The Tullamore DEW distillery experience tour is clearly focused on delivering the best experience for the visitors rather than making money from it.
The tour started with a correctly prepared Irish coffee and then travelling around the destillery and grounds also having several samples of their whisky.
The tour guide was very knowledgable, nice, and helpful. Big praise to her.
The tour groups consist of a maximum of eight people, which is really great - having too large groups can sometimes lead to worse tours. Hence, eight people is great.
The tour took roughly two hours.

Amazing visit to the distillery! We took the 100 minute tour and it was worth every penny of 39€ a piece. I have been to many distilleries and taken the tour but this one was tops. From enjoying an Irish coffee with our incredible tour guide, Ita, and listening to her tell the history of Tullamore DEW and how they make their blended whiskey, to going into the distillery itself and then on to the warehouse full of whiskey barrels, it felt like you were part of the family listening to an old friend talk about the family business. Solomon was our driver for the tour outside and he took care of everything for us. If you are in Dublin, take the 90 minute ride out to Tullamore. The town is wonderful to walk, and you will not be disappointed with the experience at the distillery. Highly recommend!!

Very nice tour and tasting. Quite a good deal at €39. You get a lot in the package, and the tour guide we had, Antoinette, was fantastic and quite knowledgeable. The historical aspect was neat, even though the distillery itself is pretty new, the tour was well steeped in history.

Very interesting visit. The venue is beautiful and well organized to receive the tour.

If you like Jameson, do yourself a favor and try this distillery. From the states, I hadn't tried it before and fell in love. The tour was incredibly informative and the flights are perfect for sampling. We did the cheapest option and got three. You can choose the high end to get six. They also have a €150+ option that (I believe) shows their production. As a side note - Sundays are sometimes the busiest. Long live the city of Tullamore and DEW.

Definitely the best distillery tour I've ever taken. (Although also the most expensive at 35€.) Our cozy group of 7 allowed us all to hear our fantastic guide Antoinette as she brought alive the story of Irish whiskey, and Tullamore's place in it. A masterful tale weaver, she spiritedly informed, entertained and painted a picture as she prepared a traditional Irish coffee and led us through the beautiful facilities. The tour lasted nearly 2 hours, and connected the "alchemy" of distillation with the "sacred" of maturation. At the noteworthy gift shop, you can top off your experience, by blending your own unique Tullamore bottle with variations on grain, malt and pot-stilled whiskeys (for 75€.) You can also enjoy a complimentary espresso or tea. #TullyTours

Brian was our guide and the tour was the last of the day. Considering he was relatively new, he was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining throughout the tour. This was a great tour! Finley, the tour guide and Will was the driver on account of the rain. Both friendly people. Finley was very knowledgeable on the history of Irish whiskeys and had a lovely sense of humor about him.
I do know there are right ways and wrongs ways to make a drink, but his Irish coffee was top-notch! My 1st coffee was in Shannon, and it was just straight hot whiskey.
As far as the warehouse and the tasting room. I really enjoyed it. I've been to a few distilleries in the States as far as whiskey, bourbon, and beer go. This distillery is one of the nicer places!
10/10 Finley was absolutely great, and thanks, Will, for driving!
Took a couple of souvenirs home for further tasting and comparative analysis

It’s only taken a month to share , but a highlight of my trip to Ireland was visiting the Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery. Michelle and Solomon were fantastic guides and I learned a lot.
The nerd in me loved the history, the science, and the lessons. The drinker in me loved the tastes, the smells, and the varieties to sample. Their gift shop loved my wallet.
I want to stress that all rules were followed and a certain photo was taken from the outside, not in.
Thank you Tully!

By far this is the best distillery tour we've ever been on. From the minute you walk in, you're welcomed with an Irish coffee that they make right in front of you while you're sitting in comfy dining chairs. You then move to the more comfortable couches, with your Irish coffee, where they go through the process of distilling before you start the walking tour through the whiskey barrel storage warehouse then ending at a bar with some tastings and more educational info about the whiskey. They then walk you to the shop where you can purchase whiskey, merchandise and even make your own blend. It was a super fun experience and I recommend it to anyone going to Ireland. It is well worth the $40. Our guides Daria and Richie were fantastic. Daria was super knowledgeable about the distilling process and the whiskey itself and Richie made the delicious Irish coffee. Highly recommend! Purchase your tickets in advance as the group size is small, which makes more intimate and enjoyable.

One of the best distillery tours I’ve been on. Get a walkthrough of the whole process and see all of the equipment actually in use (including seeing the warehouse full of aging barrels!). Had tour guides Richie and Ray and we learned a great deal from them; I feel like I can talk intelligently about whisky now and actually understand what all the words mean. I can’t recommend enough, excellent value.

Took the train from Dublin to tullamore. Taxi from the station to the distillery. Was a little disappointed to find all the tour slots booked for the day…but there’s a shorter tasting tour which we managed to get into. Costs $20 euro each takes around 30 mins and you get to sample 3 of their whiskies. Our guide was Richie and he was fantastic. Very informative and friendly. In fact the all the staff were great. Even offered us complimentary tea n coffee whilst we waited!
It’s also possible to buy some extra tasting samples too. The 18 year old single malt and the Honey are well worth the extra euros!
Highly recommended.

Even though this is a fairly new facility, the tour was very thorough in a relaxing atmosphere. Let's just say the first part of the tour was about the education of whiskey making while lounging on couches with a custom made authentic Irish coffee. This was our favorite distillery tour in Ireland

Caveat:
The date of the tour ended up being a bank holiday hence last production was a week before Xmas. No new brewing took place.
The tour guide was brilliant. While the tour did not drink whiskey she did her best to provide an great experience.
Being the oldest brewery is already worth a visit. The watermill are still operational. I have been told the Steam generator also works but did not see it.
The tour overall is 1 hour with no rush. Friendly atmosphere where whiskey tasting can be enjoyed.
Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely worth it. The tour is very interesting and the guide was quite friendly and knowledgeable.
The tasting at the end is great, as expected, and you can ask for the “driver experience” meaning you’ll take home all samples in tiny bottles so you can try them later, which was a nice surprise. We also got to take a small glass home. They have a nice shop so you can take your favorite whiskey home, plus their bar is quite cozy. Amazing experience :)

A working distillery with a fascinating history, making great whiskey. Michael, a local lad with “tuns” of knowledge, made the visit far more worthwhile with a tasting at the end. The tour is a must, with a wee drop. If you can’t drink at the end of the tour, they can put the samples in little bottles for you to enjoy later. 😄

The tour is interesting, the process of creating the whiskey is explained well, and there are opportunities to try alcohol at the beginning and the end. It is a pity that the old machinery isn't in use, and that the distillery there only makes a tiny fraction of the companies output.
Still very worth visiting especially if you like peated whiskey.

As visitor centre tours go this was a compact but informative tour. There's plenty of history here which was well explained by our tour guide. Tour finished with a lovely taster session and a free gift of a kilbeggan water jug. For those driving you can opt out of the taster session and get a driver pack which allows you to taste at home a great idea. The gift shop is well stocked with plenty of kilbeggans products. Give yourself time to browse even take time to enjoy the coffee shop. All in all lots on offer.

When we visited Ireland we had a goal of visiting as many distilleries as possible. The Kilbeggan Distillery was on our list of stops and it was great. They offer tours and have a shop to purchase any of their signature whiskeys. Between our group we bought 6 bottles after tastings because their whiskey is fantastic. A must stop for original Irish whiskey.

It's worth a visit to see how whiskey was made in the old days. Having said that, tasting was average and should at least only include whiskeys of the Distillery rather than from other distilleries owned by the same company...
Roscrea Castle is an ancient architectural site that comprises a refurbished fortress dating back to the medieval times, a barricaded courtyard, and manicured gardens. This historic complex showcases an impressive display of the olden days' valuable constructions and artistry. The castle has undergone meticulous restoration over time, preserving its original glory and giving visitors a glimpse into past civilizations. Additionally, the walled courtyard provides insights into how people used to live within such fortified spaces during times of war or conflict.

This is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. So peaceful and filled with really interesting sculptures. The forest walk was a particular highlight.
Unfortunately, despite the website saying that there are toilets and a café, both were closed. There were no bins along the trails. There is a distinct lack of signage too. Many of the crossroads had no signs at all!
We thought we were on one of the looped trails only to discover ourselves completely outside the park with a very long walk to get back!

Lovely long walks through woods and Peatland, with routes and attractions for kids and adults alike.
The fairly trail seems to work for the kiddos, the bluebells were in full bloom as we visited.
More interesting for me was the sculpture trail, which brings together bog wood and the remnants of the old trains that were used to work the land - a series of interactive pieces.
Signage is a little unreliable and we did get slightly disorientated at points.
The cafe is open to 5pm, which at least gave us some much needed caffeine.

Amazing bog!
We love to go here on the weekend and do walks with our dog, short or long it doesn't matter it has something for everyone.
It is well set up and good maintained with even toilets and restaurant onsite! :)

A fantastic place for families. Lots of walking out in nature and a great cafe with sandwiches and coffee and tea afterwards. Staff are lovely and friendly, too.
