Råbjerg Mile is a vast sand dune spanning across 2 square kilometers, located in the northern part of Denmark. This desert-like area offers stunning panoramic views from its peak, overlooking both the North Sea and Baltic Sea simultaneously. It is a popular tourist attraction for families with children. However, on windy days, the dunes move rapidly and visitors should not rely on landmarks for direction to avoid getting lost. Overall, Råbjerg Mile is an impressive natural wonder worth exploring.
A fantastic place. A desert in the north of Denmark. Especially for kids. From the top you can see the North Sea and the Baltic Sea at the same time.

Very beautiful and surprising sand dunes. Good access and a nearby parking.
Visit on a warm and sunny day to get a desert-like feeling.

It's a wonderful place I am very happy to visit here. It was a good experience in Denmark😊

Beautiful location. There is plenty of parking, free toilets (probably 7/10 on cleanliness when I visited). The dunes are amazing. It’s very easy to walk to a the edge of the dune where you have a large view of the dune. It’s not handicap accessible however if you can walk it’s a short easy walk to the edge. To climb the dune it took about 30 minutes for a group of young people to climb to the top. View is worth it. You can see both the North Sea and Baltic. Easily see skagen and whatever cruise ship is in port. Great visit for the family. Very clean.

What a fantastic visit...! Of course, the landscape is absolutely fascinating, but what made this trip even more memorable for this clumsy guy, was the kindness of a person, who somewhere in one of hundreds of sand dunes found my mobile phone and thoughtfully place it on top of the gate by the parking lot. Thank you SO much...!

This is a very beautiful and unique place to visit.
It is a large area with sand dunes that will give you the feeling to be in the middle of a desert.
The landscape and surroundings are dramatic, not to be missed.

I went there last year and I'm still thinking about it, if you are wondering whether to go or not don't think too much about it and just go.
You won't regret it.
Another reason to go if the first part of the review didn't convince you: there were many doggos having the best times of their lives :)

Wow. The biggest sandbox one can imagine. The sand feels like silk on your feet. No need to bring your shoes for your walk but bring enough water as you might want to stay longer than you thought. Such a fun place for kids and adults.

Absolutely best place to visit.. A cold desert, that’s what it is! An absolute stunning view of mountain high white sand dunes just lying around in middle of nowhere, surrounded by lush green forest! One of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. Loved it, hopefully I’ll come back in future to spend an entire day here!

Wow. Just wow. What a sight to see! Feels almost strange to suddenly find yourself surrounded by sand dunes in Denmark. Worth the visit if only just to sit and take in the experience. Do recommend.

An impressive sight. You suddenly end up in a miniature desert where a few hundred meters before fields and forests were.

A giant sand dune that you would totally not expect in a country like Denmark. In some places you can only see sand and more sand. I really recommend it. Probably there's some way to reach by bus, but if you go by car is an easy parking. Also there is a small building with toilettes and picnic tables. By the way, there are some reviews/photos with a lighthouse, those reviews are incorrect and correspond to Rubjerg Knude!

Absolutely astonishing place, the view was breathing, amazing and beautiful! Wasteland changing into a desert and then into a forest with the seas on both ends. I spend there many hours just chilling, watching sunrises and sunsets and drawing pictures into the sand. In the morning and in the evening it's possible to be there alone with no tourists but even during a day there were always just a few families. It was one of the most exciting places I have ever visited. Love it and I hope I get back very soon.

Worth all the money to see the majestic eagles and a vulture. Book tickets in advance since there is limited seats which might become full in case of peak season. Here you can buy icecream, simple foods, ørnereservatet souvenirs, caps, t-shirts etc.. well organized eagle, vulture and horse show. There are about 7 different eagles, 1 vulture, and 2 horses. There were no signs of animal abuse. As they repeatedly say, they use 1000 year old eagle hunting techniques. Good job organizing a show with these wild birds.
Sudhangathan Bankarusamy (Suan) — Google review
Nice place. They got some nice eagles and the show was good as well. But may be there is still room for improving the performance of the show.

If you haven't seen Eagles in a close distance, then it's a good chance for you.
I just wish if they had the White head American Eagle.
It's a nice experience especially for kids.

A beautiful one hour show that displays some absolutely stunning birds of prey and an amazing collaboration between humans, horse, and bird.
It was very moving to experience the animals up front and close as well as the falconry traditions being displayed. Its very much worth a visit.

A fantastic experience, seing there majestic birds close up! And the humans are good at explaining details and the history.
Thomas Jeppson — Google review
Absolutely fantastic and really shows how huge these birds are, which cannot be captured in caged animals and or video.
You're required to be seating during the entire show of one hour, so do not bring children whom aren't able to sit still for that duration
Emil Gustafsson — Google review
Their eagle-show lasts around one hour in which a wide variety of birds are shown. Highly recommended. Showcasing birds of prey that are not normally seen around this part of the world or are just not common.
Daniel Hoelstad — Google review
Amazing show & very interesting exhibition, great service at the shop too. Dress warmly though, the eagle show lasts for about 60-70 minutes and the wind can get pretty cold :) blankets are available for free at the shop if necessary. The show happens in Danish & English.
The North Sea Oceanarium is an impressive museum showcasing marine life in North Sea habitats. Visitors can observe seals in an outdoor basin and explore a touch pool. The museum offers numerous informative information boards with creative designs, making for a thoughtful and modern experience. Interactive learning games are also available, especially enjoyable for children. Although sunfish are currently not on display, the mantaray and starfish interactive experience is priceless. Additionally, visitors can walk through a tropical forest trail.
Wonderful experience! The mantaray and starfish interactive experience absolutely priceless! As well as the tropical forest trail. Wish it would had better lighting and the the otters better presented.

Really nice aquarium/exhibition on the sea life in the North Sea and the fishery industry. They also have a good restaurant with reasonable priced food, fish & chips cost 119DK. A great place to visit if you are waiting to take a ferry to Norway or Iceland (as we did).
Jaco Knetemann — Google review
This was a great trip for how little the tickets cost - the giant Sun Fish were a highlight, and the feeding that occurs in the tank with a scuba diver was great!
The seal feeding was also fun, but a little smelly!
Highly recommended for both adults and kids.

It was such a lovely visit. Many things were not viewable due to COVID-19 restrictions. But nonetheless, I had an amazing time and spent prolly 2 hours ish!

Wonderful aquarium for young and old with so much information on the oceanic life under water. Inside and outside fun! Everything is well thought through and a great concept. A lot to see and experience. Visit all floors and enjoy the feeding times. Entrance fee for adults is absolutely justified and fine with DKK 195. Coffee at coffee station is 25 DKK and tastes great. Nice aquarium shop as well to get some gifts.

Came here for the sunfish and wasn’t disappointed!
The staff, from the reception until the exit, was super friendly and was open for additional questions.
Plenty of clean toilets around, easy to use self service coffee machines.
Lunch at the cafe was great, not at all what I expected from it.

A wonderful museum for the whole family!
The staff is accommodating and polite, the museum offers many informative and creatively designed information boards And made a thoughtful and modern impression. Unfortunately, there are no sunfish at the moment. Nevertheless, we had a lovely stay.
Especially with children I can recommend this place, because it offers many fun and interactive learning games :)

We did drive hundreds of kilometers just because of this aquarium. It really was worth of the effort. Kids loved it and this was great for adults too. Also the food was delicious and we spent whole opening time here.

Really great aquarium. Especially the fact that it focuses on the region and gas a lot of different bassains all with different themes. All the fish look healthy, the place is properly clean and everything looks really taken care of. Several fish tanks have several stories to watch the fish from different angles. Equipped with a cafe and Picknick arrears it's suited for different types of visits. A lot of child suited exhibits are available. Staff is amazing and is able to speak at least danish, English and German.
Sven Wilbert — Google review
A really great experience at the oceanarium. The entire place is well designed and the flora n fauna are healthy. We got to see the feeding of the seals. We booked online so we got around 15% discount on the offline price of the ticket
Cajetan Fernandes — Google review
This place is a good day out, especially when you got kids. Lots of interactive games and features for them. Unfortunately the day i went it was rather busy due to Danish holidays, and it got a bit warm inside.
The indoor area features a lot of sealife. Plenty of places to sit down and have some food. The outdoor area mainly features the seals enclosure and some eating areas, as well as a playground for children. The seals get fed twice a day which you can watch if wanted.
Entry fee is slightly on the higher side on my opinion but worth it if you visit everything/shows etc.

A great place to visit with kids and family. The most interactive aquarium that we have visited. Lots of activities for kids such as crab-fishing and big playgrounds!
The lighthouse is picturesque and I visited on a day with blue skies and snow. The views to the windswept coastline stunning. Added bonus is the incredible open air bunker museum which surrounds the lighthouse. Great informative plaques and one has been set up with bunk beds and furniture to show what they would have looked like in WWII.

Incredible experience if you like WW2 relics. Take a walk through old trench lines still running through the sand or climb inside old bunker rooms some of them restored to perfection. Furthermore, there are weapons and pictures from the old days and even a sea mine is to be found amidst the dunes. Even if concrete walls are nothing for you, the Hirtshals lighthouse and the beach might interest you. One little downside generally in Denmark, it is always windy. Be sure to bring a sweater then you are equipped for that awesome experience in Northern Denmark 🇩🇰

Just watch out for your heart and if you’re afraid of high places I would not go there.
However if you are nog afraid of heights and you do not have heart problems take the climb and take in the amazing views.

This lighthouse was really great to visit! The place is really picturesque and typical Danish. The view from the top is fantastic! Best part with our visit was that Søfartsstyrelsen was doing their annual service and the technician was really great explaining how it all worked. Even better was that we were temporarily allowed to go all the way up into the glass portion. This was absolutely amazing and a once in a time opportunity! We really appreciated being allowed this opportunity because our kids were amazed by it also.

Awesome place. You can climb the lighthouse and enjoy the breathtaking view.
Have some coffee and delicious cake in the cafe.
Visit the mineral exhibition.
And last not least visit the bunker museum and get an idea of the awful time of war in Europe and especially Danmark.

(Translated by Google) The zoo is cut through by the Bangsbo Å, and is part of the wildlife in the contiguous Bangsbo Ådal, where there are large areas of deciduous forest with wild red deer, roe deer, badgers, birds of prey, woodpeckers, small birds, and in the brook there are otters, kingfishers and trout. On the old damaged beech trees in the zoo, it can be a good place to find, for example, oystercatchers in December to February.
The forest also offers a nature playground with a covered packed lunch hut with tables and benches as well as a barbecue (bring your own charcoal) and a campfire where you can prepare and enjoy food you have brought.
The forest consists of both deciduous and coniferous forest. The broad-leaved forest is descended from remnants of the original broad-leaved forest on the site, and the conifer forest was established with state subsidies at the end of the 1800s.
Bangsboskoven has always been a beautiful pleasure forest for Bangsbo's owners and visitors, and formed the framework for countless events and lively activity in the forest. With the purchase of the area, the municipality secured a fantastic recreational area adjacent to Pikkerbakken and Møllehuset.

Bangsbo Fort, situated on a hilltop plateau in Frederikshavn, Denmark, offers a fascinating journey through military history. Originally constructed by the Germans during World War II to safeguard their supply routes to Norway, the fort is now home to canons and rich historical exhibits. Visitors can explore bunkers and learn about the fort's role during different periods, including its use as a control center in the Cold War era.
Well worth the hike, even in streaming rain and battering winds just before closing. If you're going to skagen remember to get the slightly more expensive ticket that grants admittance to the kystmuseet there as well
Simon the Delusional — Google review
Bangsbo Fort is located on a hilltop plateau on the southern outskirts of Frederikshavn, and the vantage point 82 metres above sea level provides a remarkable view out over Frederikshavn and the waters of the Kattegat. On clear days, the it is possible to see all the way to both Skagen and Læsø.

One of the most coolest places in Denmark I've been watching at bunkers and also in one of the bunkers you get too hear how is was to be questioned by the Danish gestspo during the 2. World War, "that's a very though challenge to get through" so if you are strong mentally you should go for it and it is not for everyvody. My experience was very scary. But you also get a lot of information about how they used the area. So I totally recommend it to anyone is interested in both photography and history.
Benjamin Christensen — Google review
Military history at its best! South of Frederikshavn is the 80 meter high hill Pikkerbakken where the German Kriegsmarine had a group of bunkers built during WWII to protect the harbor. In 1944 the bunkers were armed with Krupp cannons from the Danish artillery ship Niels Juel. After the Danish Navy took over the facilities at the end of WWII, Bangsbo Fort became an important control center during the heyday of the Cold War (1952-1962). The Danish navy still controls shipping traffic in the Kattegat and Skagerak from this hill. Since 2005, the part of the hill with the old bunkers has been open to the public, the cannons have been restored and the Kystmuseet opened its doors. And that is only to be welcomed, because the museum and bunkers are absolutely worth a visit!
Koen — Google review
You feel history at that place - absolut great.
80 Bunker are in this area. Its free to go in every one, if its open.
Lars Keck — Google review
It had a great view and free in time of our visit in August but most of the bunkers were closed or in a bad condition
Hossein Bagheri — Google review
The museum is definitely worth visiting, especially, the hospital and the naval command bunkers, the former has detailed designs of the sanitation systems. There is a free, 1h guided tour in Danish language at 1100 hours. The entry ticket is valid for 7 days and one can visit total 4 museums (kystmuseet) any no. Of times. There are only two(at least, publicly accessible)15cm cannons which aren't well maintained.
The museum authorities said that it doesn't receive any patronage or support from the commune where it's located and the entire expenses have to be covered with the entry fees. This explains well the poor maintenance of bunkers and cannons. While I respect every local language in the world, the artifacts are explained only in Danish which prevents foreigners from understanding the information. Another disappointing fact is that the museum is located in a military-controlled area, probably, that's the reason that 60% or more of the bunkers are closed for public access.

Yet another reminder of years at war... sad but worth the walk 🚶♂️
Rubjerg Knude is a well-known lighthouse that was constructed in 1899. Situated around 14km north of Lokken and on the way to Lonstrup, it lies in an area of sand dunes which highlights the raw power of Mother Nature on this windy coast.
Amazing location! Best part it's free! The sand dunes are hard to walk up, but turns out there is a path going to the left and up. However, it's fun to climb the dune and get sand up with the sun don't shine :) just weird that they moved the place to save the history
Peter DeBrass — Google review
A very nice walk on the dunes before visiting the lighthouse in the middle of the sand. If you go to the top of it, you'll zee the sea and surroundings where people wrote their names with old broken bricks. Very windy, a little bit rainy, but worth it

Simply best evening of my danish vacation. The scenery as from episode of Game of Thrones. Definitely wort a walk prom parking!
Adam Harton — Google review
Excellent park on the Danish coast, it's a bit of a hike to get to the tower but the scenery is beautiful all the way up. Lots of parking is available but it's popular so it fills up fast, there are lots of campers too. The entry offers a public restroom which is stocked and clean. The walk up the tower is good, but there are a few steps that are in a state of disrepair so be careful. If you're traveling the Danish peninsula this is definitely worth the detour.

Fascinating place, if you are in the area, it is an absolute must see. The mountain of silky sand and the views are mesmerising. Great fun for young and young at heart! There are free public toilets at the car park and a little shop with everything what you need for refreshment. For a little charge the tractor with a trailer can bring you directly there and then back if you feel like, and it is possible to pay with a card too. One tthe tractor trailer we had great fun and saw the local animals grazing. The walk on another hand, takes about 10-15 minutes and is also very relaxing. For those who are brave, there is a helicopter ride.

Definitely worth a visit! We flew to Aalborg then took a bus to Hjørring to stay in a hotel. The Google map doesn’t work well in this area. It told us to take 75 but that’s not running regularly. Take 71 from the airport to Hjørring!
Most people probably drive there but we don’t have a car. Bus isn’t really practical but could still work. The closest bus station is at least 1km away and the bus 80 runs every hour.

Super cool location. A 10-15min walk from the free parking. The view from the light house is amazing. Bring sunglasses or goggles if it’s windy because the sand will get you everywhere. The coastline is eroded and creates a cool pattern. The parking lot was full when we were there but not so many people at the light house.
Erik Eriksson — Google review
although I have flown many times, here I had such a fear when climbing the stairs, they don't seem very safe, but the view from the top is beautiful.
below there are some writings made of brick, someone with imagination exceeded the limit with🤍
besides the other beaches, there is a different kind of sand here, finer and cleaner, and a lot of it
in the parking lot some beautiful cows were quietly eating grass, and on the way to the tower, sheep filled the landscape and the plain
ANDREEA LŐRINCZI — Google review
This was such a fun place to visit. The views were so beautiful and the walk to and from the lighthouse were nice. The sheep were super cute but didn't want to come say hi. I'm definitely grateful that they decided to move the lighthouse a few years ago to preserve it from future erosion.

Rubjerg Knude Light House is one a the absolutely most see attractions in Norrh Jutland.
With free admission and parking this place offers magnificent views of the coat, the ocean and the now moved old light house.
The elevation makes it possible.to view both Løkken to the South and Lønstrup to the North.
If it's windy bring glasses and scarfs as the sand, even moderate wind speeds, can be rough.
Morten Thorsen — Google review
Perfect Dune place with all the sand! The weather was not perfect but still very worth the visiting. At least it’s not so windy so it’s great to see everything. All the kids like it too walking on the sand and playing there. Could take at least one hour but easy to spend two. Highly recommend it!

A wonderful location with an interesting story. Bear in mind you have to walk like a mile from the parking lot to the lighthouse, but very much worth the walk.
Voergaard Slot is a 16th-century moated castle famous for its ornate furnishings and decorative-arts collection. The castle is steeped in history, with rumors of ghosts adding to its allure. A visit to this castle during Christmas reveals the Danes' love for the festive season and the concept of HYGGE.

We visited it at Christmas and the Danes do love their Christmas and the sense of HYGGE very uplifting by all the Christmas decorations. Hotel Lokken Beach is a charming boutique hotel located in an old schoolhouse in Lokken. The modern and beautifully furnished quarters offer balconies, and the hotel provides casual accommodations with excellent service. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast and dinner at the recommended restaurant nearby, which is considered one of the best in town. The hotel's friendly and professional staff ensure a pleasant stay, while its convenient location near the beach adds to its appeal.
This small hotel is very modern and beautifully furnished. Simple but to the point. I was previously in large design hotels in Malmö and Copenhagen and this hotel can definitely keep up with the interior design.
The breakfast was - although out of season and no buffet - great!
And the service was really outstanding.
The restaurant that was recommended to us is probably the best in this very small town and the furnishings and service there were also top.
Anyone who takes a road trip through Denmark should stay there.

Har været der mange mange mange gange, og hver gang har det været en yderst fantastisk oplevelse. De mange forlystelser i parken holder en aktiv hele dagen, og har man et hotelværelse på deres hotel, kan man også vente en fantastisk oplevelse. (Translated by Google) With a 'neighbour' which in some cases is only an extra hour's drive away, Djurs Sommerland, this may have to be considered if you are an adult playboy, because the number of attractions for adults is limited.
Price level is on par with other Parkers = too high = everyone is carrying a hunchback with cooler bag etc.
Small appeal - find the reasonable prices because we guests don't actually want to drag the fridge from home (the ones we know) and then we'll probably have to buy a delicious salad/sandwich or similar.
Then there is just one website that didn't work on the day we were supposed to use it to buy tickets with a discount, but it might just be bad luck - but hardly the day before this function didn't work either.
(Original)

There are also many services including a great supermarket (Meny), several restaurants and ice cream shoppes {seeming a "summer addiction" for Danes as well as travellers}, free WIFI and places to sit.. Much of the town's other features are readily accessible such as the nearby park, walks along the Fjord, the Library [where the service is amazingly professional! Its a great place to visit.

Vikingemuseet Lindholm Høje is a contemporary museum showcasing Viking culture and history, along with a burial site containing gravestones. Aalborg's most significant historical legacy lies within the Viking period and the Limfjord, which acted as a motorway for longboat raiding parties' easy access to the Atlantic.
Very interesting museum in which to learn about the Viking Age. You can take a look at lots of recovered items and read about them. All of the text is in Danish but they have tablets with the information in English and German (maybe more languages but I didn't check). Definitely a place to visit!

Wonderful museum with decent prices and great service.
We visited the museum as a group of 6 Germans and 1 Danish. The lady was very nice explaining us some stations only available in Danish and also gave us some extra information on the side. The souvenir shop is also decently priced compared to what museums usually take as well as the entry fee itself. The grave hill is even free to visit. There is also an extra exhibit showing general findings in the fjord area which was very interesting in addition to the local exhibit.

The Viking museum was extremely informative and a must-see for those with Nordic ancestry. We were unable to eat in the adjoining Cafe as there was a large group event inside and all of the outside tables were full as well -- perhaps good signs about the quality of the food?
Many of the displays had legend cards in English, but some did not. There were iPads in the museum as well at some of the displays which could be scrolled up to change the language presented which was helpful.
Being able to walk in the cemetery among the stones and the ancient funeral pyre remains was a remarkable experience, but the path through the small forest filled with the constant cacophony of crows was a little spooky especially considering its proximity to all of those old viking souls. It felt like a Harry Potter movie moment.

Very interesting and beautifully designed exhibition, makes you feel like you’re walking through history. Many archeological items from the area of Aalborg are displayed, with information available in Danish, English and German describing the daily life of the Vikings. Next to the museum are the burial grounds, which don’t require an entrance fee.

Fantastic destination for anyone interested in Viking history. This is a large Viking graveyard dating from 600 to 1000 as, with burial mounds for many, including a number of warriors interred with ships. Only a statical glitch during the ice age saved it as the entire site was buried and thereby preserved.
The museum is very nice and worthwhile. Definitely visit and pay the fee to support the site.
Recommended, only a few minutes outside Aalborg. Easy to get to and ample parking.

I never knew what a viking burial was like until I visited Lindholm Hoje. It's amazing to me how old these graves are. The museum was cool to visit and larger than I expected. I came close to closing time so I didn't explore as much of it as I would have otherwise.

It was a wonderful experience to be able to visit the zoo with our dog! They must of course go always on-leash, and some areas are off-limits (like the tigers/lions area and children playground) but it's great to be able to spend a nice day with them. You can see several families walking around with their dogs. Inside the zoo there are several "dog bars" where they can drink water. The zoo itself is nice, the animals look well kept and clean (it's not depressing as other zoos we've visited). Adult tickets cost DKK 210 in the summer, DKK 125 for children (3-11 y/o), and students can get a discount and pay DKK 168. During winter it costs DKK 190 for adults, DKK 105 children and DKK 152 for students. If you go by car you can park nearby for free; otherwise you can get there easily by bike or bus. You can also buy food inside but there are not so many options, mainly pizza and burgers, but there's also the option to bring your own food and grill it there for free (this is not available on winter).

Explore the Thingbæk Chalk Mines, located under the Rebild Center, where you can venture into manmade limestone caves and witness a unique sculpture museum. The underground experience offers a glimpse of hibernating bats and maintains a cool temperature even in summer. Above ground, visitors can enjoy an exhibit space with scenic views of Rold Skov forest. The surrounding area boasts lush green hills and enchanting forests, providing a picturesque backdrop for this historical site.

Super cool manmade limestone caves/mines. Very cold under ground, even in the summer time so bring a sweater 😄
Beautiful surroundings, the museum attached to the mines is placed in the middle of beautiful, green, lushious hills and the mines are close to the most beautiful and fairytale like forrests. The tour in the mines was fine, a lot of history on the place but I would prefer looking around on my own next time :)

Too expensive and everything is in Danish... The pool is cool, but looks extremely small! The layout is weird, it just doesn't know what it wants to be. So many ugly cinema chairs, a play corner for kids and much more in 20m2 while horribly put together... The salt mine itself isn't even a mine, it's a cheap horribly put together theme park ride that takes not even 5 minutes of your time. And everything is in control of 2 uninterested 14 year olds...
Don't recommend going here at all.
Job van der Neut — Google review
Very nice place but incredibly noisy in the pool. You'll think it is a quiet place where you can relax.. it isn't. People can talk loudly or even yell and they do not care whatsoever. Not a place for you if you want to relax.

The salt bath was nice. Likewise the café. The museum and the "mine tour" was a mediocre way of keeping the kids occupied while the parents are bathing.
Kristoffer Thyregod — Google review
An incredible "salt processing" approach!
Over the years I have seen/worked in various salt production facilities-- including mining, evaporation of sea water, etc. But the approach used in Mariager and environs is nothing short of amazing- when views from a "Creative Perspective"! About 5 kms (3 miles) from Mariager there is a "huge salt rock"-- measuring about 60 cubic meters -- at current use it will last another 21,000 years!!
Small amounts of the "rock salt" are dissolved in water and transported by pipeline to the facility and interesting displays located on Mariager's port. There heat removes the water- thereby producing salt. The facility- opened about 20 years ago- has many displays, tells a story about salt production and also displays many salt based products (which are available for purchase). There is also a warm "salt water pool" which may produce health benefits. The associated restaurant serves "pleasant food"!
I hope that this Review has been helpful!
Rides & attractions including a water park, plus accommodation options; open Apr to Oct.
It has a few small drawbacks, such as it's erratic opening days which are designed to keep the place as full as possible. But it's a great place to spend a day or two out. Really good rides for all ages and the staff are excellent, especially by Danish standards. I've been here many times and they are always making additions and keeping the place clean etc.
NOTE: Those from outside scandinavia will need to understand that some rides etc are not attended by staff and require a degree of responsibility and comon sense on your part. This is normal here but was a bit weird for me when I first came across it.

We were visiting Fredericia Denmark on a cruise and decided to rent a car to visit Djurs and we are very glad we did! This is a world class amusement park with a great selection of rides and coasters in Denmark. It’s a beautifully landscaped and maintained park with many up to date rides, a huge selection of food offerings, cute characters throughout the park and even a place where you can make your own bread over an open fire - how cool is that! What really makes this park special is how friendly everyone who works here is. Service levels were very “Disney-ish” throughout the park, which is amazing. I can’t wait to come back!

Fun place to spend the day at with your family, at least if you're young or young at heart when it comes to the adults. :p
Everything is easy to find and access and prices aren't too crazy. You're also able to buy refillable soda for the entire day, though I wish they had actual water instead of sugar water or aspartame sweetened beverages... Even at the buffet we ate at you couldn't get water unless you asked the staff for some tap water.. Though water was available in the beverage shops around the area at least. Eventually I found out people were refilling water bottles at the restroom, which had ice cold water. Recommend if you want to save money. ^^
Rides were run, ranging from wild to tame, so there's something for everyone, though I wish a few of them would loop at least once since they did feel a bit short at times.
Staff seemed to do their job well, too.

best amusement park in denmark but if you’ve got low patience buy vip or don’t go. The rides are amazing but the lines are too long if you’ve got low patience like me. So i always buy the vip.
Great place to bring your family and friends. Great amenities and atmosphere. Would definitely spend a full day here next time.

A good place to go and check out especially if you have a family with small children. Lots of activities, small petting zoo, plus a relatively big map of the world where children can play but also learn the different countries, where they are situated and how their flag looks. They also have a BBQ area, where you can use one of their gas grills and cook your own food. they also have a small restaurant in case you get hungry and need a quick snack

We expected to spend 15 mins before going again. But in the end we had stayed for more than 1 hour longer than we expected. There were animals, playing grounds, really nice staff, the map was creative and well executed, there were row boats for kids, the food was great. It's nothing over the top, but went beyond my expectations and I think it's a nice place for a family with kids. :)

Randers Regnskov is a popular tourist attraction, featuring glass rainforest domes with adventure trails and rope bridges. The zoo's temperature remains consistently warm, between 20C to 30C, allowing visitors to enjoy the tropical environment throughout the year. The enclosures house crocodiles, monkeys, manatees, pythons, iguanas and an array of rainforest flora and fauna such as orchids and hibiscus.
Fantastic day, saw some amazing animals, birds and reptiles. The areas are all different and great for adults and children, swing bridge , ropes and different levels so you can see the animals. Outside great pathways guide you to the different attractions. One of the best zoos I've seen.
Sue Wyles — Google review
Mostly indoor zoo with a tropical theme. Close contact with a lot of animals is possible. The animals seem well treated and the enclosures are big enough. The outside area is under development, when we visited hardly any animals were visible. Temperature inside is high. Facilities are fine. Enough parking available for a fair price.

It's a good place to hangout with family. They have arranged the zoo quite good in particular the african tropical zoo. However, the outdoor part of the zoo showcasing hyena and all was not that good perhaps it might be off season when i went there.
fayyaz pocker — Google review
The most interactive zoo we have ever experienced - being right next to most animals (even snakes, if you dare to enter) without a barrier was definitely spectacular. Took selfies with a sloth a meter away - did not get to do it even in Latin America. Bats and monkeys flying and jumping around you surely made it fun 🤩
The outdoor areas are also very cool with hyenas, lynx, boars and domestic animals among others.

Fun indoor jungle zoo with two major dooms. Lots of greenery, fun paths to explore and free roaming monkeys, birds, snakes and butterflies. Ample parking outside building. Restaurant and gift shop. Seating area at end of one doom for bringing your own food.

This is my favorite place in Denmark!
And I have lived in Denmark about 12 years, both in Aarhus and Copenhagen. I have been there 4 times so far.
For anyone who likes animals, this place is great. You get to walk in between the animals, not like in a zoo where it feels artificial and boxed in.
It is also fantastic for kid of ALL ages!
Boris Borisov — Google review
Nicely done and good close-up views of the animals. Given the mix of outdoor sceneries in cold October and indoor 30 degrees 100% humidity areas, I find their attitude with lockers that require new payment every time you open and close them quite unfriendly towards the visitors.

Family friendly surroundings and very a nice experience for the children.
Various areas with different geographical topics. There's a large area outside with both animals and playgrounds.
The food you can buy could be priorized to become way better. It's just fries and soulless burgers and the a like.

The Memphis Mansion is a venue that contains a vast collection of Elvis memorabilia and features an American diner that serves the King's favorite meal. The museum houses various beautiful memories that keep the legacy of Rock'n'Roll alive. The restaurant, designed in the 60s, is well-maintained and clean, serving delicious food. The friendly staff communicates in English fluently, making it easy for visitors to enjoy their experience.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The museum was also truly amazing not only because it is nearly identical to the original one but also because of the things you can see that Elvis has worn or used. I can also suggest the burgers at the restaurant👌

The attached restaurant was designed in the 60's and was clean and well maintained. The food we ordered, was very well prepared and tasted delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful, communicating in English was not a problem for the staff, almost a matter of course. I will be happy to come back on my next visit to Randers.

99% of the exhibition is in danish, no english, no german. This is strange, because this museum attracts tourists from all around the area. So we ended up looking at clothes from Elvis and other persons... a bit too expensive for such a poor experience. Even the brand new Johnny Cash add-on museum in the backyard from 2022 doesn't have many english texts. How often do they think a local danish person would visit this museum? Maybe this whole thing is only for burning money of the founder... or this is his own Elvis worship temple? We didn't get it.

If you're a true Elvis fan, then this place is an absolute goldmine. There's some really interesting items here to be seen. However for the general public popping in out of curiosity it seems a tad overpriced for the amount there is to see. The size of the mansion, gives the impression there will be so much more, but much of it seems reserved for functions and events.

Viborg Cathedral, a Romanesque-style religious structure, has been around since the 12th century and boasts two towers as well as noteworthy frescoes. It is a breathtakingly beautiful edifice that can easily rival Notre Dame in Paris. As an iconic landmark of Viborg, one of Denmark's oldest towns, it allows visitors to climb its towers for a small fee.
A must visit if you're in Viborg. They have two crypts underground which you shouldn't miss. The art work is quite lovely but the highlights of the place are the beautiful lamps. The giant candelabra is beautiful as well

The Cathedral of Aarhus is a medieval church that was completed in 1350 and designed in the Romanesque style. It is one of Denmarks tallest and longest churches, and features ornate gothic frescos and an impressive golden altar.
visited this place with my cousins a couple of years ago. i live in America but my mom recently found out that this church is where my great-grandma was baptized so when we flew the Denmark to visit our distant family we just HAD to visit the Aarhus Cathedral. it looks plain on the inside but trust me it looks AMAZING on the inside. lots of lovely original relief sculptures and beautiful lighting. plus when we visited there was an organ player performing for all the tourists and it really completed the experience of being in this ancient place of worship. highly recommend visiting if you're in the area, even if you're not religious.

Aarhus Cathedral (St. Clemens Church ) located at Store Torv and Bispetorv in Aarhus Center is the main church of Aarhus Diocese . The church has around 1200 seats, and the building, which is the longest and tallest church building in Denmark , is 93 meters long. The tower is 96 meters high, making it one of the tallest towers in Denmark . 😍

Beautiful old brick cathedral, the tallest church in Denmark. It's really high, you can see its tower while walking on the old city center. Also, the tower and church roof can be seen from Salling rooftop terrace.
Church inside has nice paintings on the wall and a model of the ship hanging from the ceiling which traditionally can be seen in many Danish churches.
The doors can be closed if some ceremonies like wedding are being held in the church.

Aarhus Cathedral is a Church of Denmark cathedral that was previously a part of the Roman Catholic church. The Gothic and Romanesque cathedral was completed in 1300 and dedicated to St. Clement, the patron saint of sailors.
Construction of the church started around 1190. It was built around St. Clement's church, a timber church built in 1102. The Romanesque architectural style included half-rounded arches, a flat timber ceiling and four chapels.
The cathedral suffered great damage in 1330 when a fire burned much of Aarhus. It was abandoned until 1449 when it was renovated and enlarged. The new design of the church used Gothic vaulting with high windows and a lengthened nave. It is now both the tallest and longest church in Denmark at 305 feet long and 315 feet high. The current, 314-foot tower was built in 1931.
There are more frescoes in Aarhus Cathedral than in any church in the country. They were painted between 1470 and 1520. Likewise, the painting of St. Christopher and St. Clement are the tallest in Denmark. The cathedral's one stained glass window was created by Emanuel Vigeland in 1926. At almost 46-feet tall, it is the largest stained glass window in Denmark.

This place is an old favourite. A real gem in Aarhus. Located in the botanical gardens, in a walking distance from the harbor and bordering on the old city. The entrance is free, there is a very reasonably priced cafeteria and shop inside. The greenhouses are heated and maintain a tropical and desert climate all year around. Beautifully built, there is a nice collection of plants on exhibition. The personnel at work there are students I believe, and so presumably knowledgeable. There is also an interactive app which we did not try yet. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to take a break from the hustle of town and a nice alternative option for a coffee meeting. Dokk1 is an architectural beauty by Aarhus harbor that houses the citys library. It is much more than a library, with an impressive modern design and stunning views of the harbor.
If you are in town with small kids, this is the place to go! So many great indoor and outdoor playgrounds for kids 0-3 years and older. I would not recommend students in the library to come and study for their tests or exams. All people that try to concentrate and work try as much as possible to escape from the chaos and noise of the children. Despite there being designated children's areas, kids run around in the quiet study spaces and scream.
There is very little respect for people that are actually working there. I've tried to work there a few times, as it has the potential to be a wonderful flexible workspace! Some days were better than others. But without clear rules, students might as well study at any random intersection in the city, where there will be less noise :)

Den Gamle By is a vast open-air museum in central Denmark that recreates life in a small market town during the time of Hans Christian Andersen. The attraction features 75 period houses and hosts a large cast of "re-enactors." It is a fun day out for history buffs who can explore the attractions's living snapshots of Danish social history from the 18th, 19th and 20 centuries.
Wow, this was by far one the best museum we visited in Europe! I am not a museum person but I really enjoyed this experience. I loved the different time periods like 70's, 20's and 1700-1800's. They even had people dressed up for those time periods. I think they missed the mark on merchandise. I would have had more Renaissance type things to buy. The gift shop needs better merch. The bakery was delicious! This place is a must see!

A wonderful exhibition of Danish life through the ages. Very educational and happy to see that so many beautiful original buildings have been carefully disassembled and reassembled at this location in order to preserve the wonderful architecture and history.
Very interesting that the newer 1970s section is used to help those with Alzheimer’s. My son was so excited about the hi-fi stereo shop and repair store. Had an wonderful chat and education from the two gentlemen working there.
If you want to really take it all in, you probably need 1 1/2 days to truly explore everything.

What a place! I was already excited before I went but I was even more impressed during my visit. It still exceeded my high expectations. I visited during the week and it must be even more exciting on weekends. There were a few people dressed up but it is incredible how the houses and buildings are very well preserved and give you an incredible accurate impression of how life was in the past. Some shops are still manned by staff and are used as real shops. It's an incredible experience. Many people had their dogs also. I didn't eat there but will do next time. It's a MUST to visit when in Aarhus. Fantastic!

This is an open air museum where houses and shops from different periods have been recreated with care. They have bakery shops where you can have a snack and coffee (the cakes and goodies available must also be from yesteryear..:)); a garden where you can buy flowers and herbs; horses and buggy drivers; etc
Will suit children or people not brought up and exposed in or exposed to older European architecture and culture. But if you have been all you might need is a quick gander through before heading to the next of Aarhus’ many museums.

Accessibility: I didn't see any elevator, must buildings have only stairs and not all streets are wheelchair "friendly" so I might be a challenge.
Language: most people from the food courts and others services speaks English
Food: they have some options like hot dog, pizza, a danish traditional restaurant, ice cream
Toilets: there are many toilets around the establishment and they are clean
In general, is a great experience
Bonus: they have a carriage tour and is worth it to pay more (100dkk) to go around the Botanical Garden instead of only paying 50dkk to go around the streets inside Old Town

We had an exceptional experience at Dem Gammel by Visit, and the old brewery was the spotlight for me. The gentle brewer's kindness and attentiveness made us all warm and welcomed. He walked us through the entire brewing process, allowing us to savor different types of beer—an amazing and educational experience. Purchasing the beer cup for 20 kronas opened the door to unlimited feast as I tasted freshly brewed beer. Plus, the festive Christmas atmosphere outside added to the overall delight. It was, without a doubt, a great and delicious visit.

Takes you back to a past era with houses from the 18th Century. It was worth going. Found some geese shouting and trying to get food from the people there. That was fun.

Fun and interesting museum, documenting life in Denmark throughout the years. There are things from 2014, the 70-80ies and all the way back to the 1600’s. Great fun for both adults and kids. The only thing that was less than ideal was the looong line to get in and that some of the people working on serving lunch seemed a bit unexperienced, but other than that it’s a perfect place to visit in Aarhus.

What a great trip.
We went there because a local guy in a fish store had telling us about it.
Great journey through the different years and really great buildings and decorations.
Everything is looking really nice and you can go inside in some buildings.
Great experience, I would recommend a visit on a weekday, and plan about 4-5 hours.
If I went to Denmark again, I will come back.

Located in Aarhus Denmark. A fantastic snapshot of life in Denmark over 100's of years on a truly grand scale.
Real buildings that have been removed from their original locations and set in place in zoned areas depending on their time in history. There is a complete street with shops from the 1970's filled with relevant products and some even with actual staff. Along with all the buildings filled with historic items there are things going on all of the time. A group of women washing clothes by a stream, young boys carrying water from the village well, horses and carriages, a vintage car driving along a cobbled street. There are hundreds of exhibitions and there are also info boards with info in both Danish and English. You'll have no problem communicating as the Danish are brilliant English speakers.
Food and drink is easily available, there are plenty of toilets. Not all areas are accessible to wheelchair users or those with impaired mobility but nevertheless there is much to see.
You'll need a minimum of 4 hours here, you could easily spend the day and not see it all.
We had an amazing time and would thoroughly recommend

I do love this place. I can say that this is my favorite open-museum in the world. Things are presented in different attractive ways. Let us interact with a particular exhibited item. Enjoy and have so much fun. I can stay here the entire day or two days if have time more. Worth to visit.
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is a world-renowned art museum located in the heart of Aarhus, Denmark. With an impressive collection spanning 300 years, the museum is home to some of the most iconic works of Danish modernist and abstract art. Including paintings from the 1800s, the Danish Golden Age of modernism, and works from more recent decades, ARoS Aarhus is a must-see for anyone visiting Aarhus.
Great Museum! It proves definitely that modern art does not have to be boring and strange, but can be beautiful, inspiring and a great experience.
The Vertigo exhibition was really exceptional. The many projections of dancing people, together with the music really gave me the feeling of being totally emerged in the project.
Also the dried plant exhibition was really impressive. Read the text next to the plants.

Aesthetically speaking, this is definitely a wonderful place to visit. The museum is a great place to explore, and has so many unique experiences and exhibitions that every time we come back, it's completely different. As its quite small, you can explore all of the different exhibits in a few hours, which means that when you're with kids you're not completely drained. The rainbow gives some amazing photo opportunities, just make sure to visit when it's bright outside for the best effect!

Great Museum from the outside.
The rainbow circle at the top looks great, and it is very entertaining, probably the highlight of the museum, something to remember.
If you are under 31 years old, you pay 145 Dkk which is a fair price.
Interesting modern art exhibitions in the inside but nothing spectacular, I must say. Some of the floors are not really part of the museum since there are closed restaurants or library or workshop areas which can't be visited.
If you are in Aarhus, it's definitely worth visiting this museum, but I would not travel to Aarhus to see it.

This might be one of my favorite museums I’ve ever visited...and I’m not a huge museum person. By far this was my favorite museum in Denmark— the architecture, for one, was beautiful, and of course the rainbow panorama lived up to the hype and was a joy to walk around. But the real stars of the show were all of the exhibits on each of the floors— every single one of them I was intrigued by, and major props to the museum curators because they are slaying. There is truly something here for everyone!

I love this Cultural Art Museum. We had 2 Kids with us today. And they could walk around them self if they wanted, to se what they would. There is so much different exhibitions for All of us and we get a lot inspiration with us. The covid-19 restrictions were good and the most guest followed them. We'll be back. ✨🙌

A lot of exhibitions under one roof. It's all skewing a little bit too modern for my taste, so I really loved the exhibition showing various aspects of "human nature" portrayed through 200 years of painting. The rooftop rainbow installation is deeply fascinating and a must-see.

So so lucky to be staying so close to this incredible art museum!! Do not miss the incredible installations on the bottom floor that will transport you to other worlds, the BIG boy, and the rainbow walkway on the rooftop. The cafe and gift shop are lovely too!

A museum that already went to my top5 museums in the world, very organized and accessible in case of mobility difficulties. They have specifics exhibitions and a nice amount of danish artists.

Very accessible and clearly locally popular modern art institute. The rainbow panorama is a very special experience. It was lovely during sunset in early evening when it's not busy. Very good museum shop. The collection of my Danish artists, and local painting was interesting, as were the different changing exhibitions.

One of the best contemporary art museums in Scandinavia. They have a huge selection, a wonderful and well-known “rainbow glass” roof passage, and some amazing experiential art rooms in the basement. Cannot recommend this enough. Get there early if you plan on seeing everything!

The rainbow skywalk was ingenious. Also the different exhibitions are great. The art installation at the ground floor is definitely a must to see.

Looks good on the outside with the rainbow structure on top but entrance fee way too expensive in my honest opinion. 20 pounds for art that I can’t appreciate. Very niche tourist attraction. Shop and toilets are good though.

an intetesting building with 10 floors. The top has a great rainbow walk to view the town from. Each floor has well presented exhibitions. the cafe and shop are also very good to visit.

ARoS is a great contemporary art museum that constantly refreshes its exhibitions every 3-6 months. The highlight is undoubtedly the rainbow installation, "Your rainbow panorama" by Ólafur Elíasson, offering breathtaking views over Aarhus. Currently featuring works by Annette Messager, Susan Philipz, Ron Mueck, and Erró, alongside the intriguing permanent collection, ARoS promises an engaging experience. Personally, I was captivated by the "Boy" in the "Far from Home" exhibition.

An art museum holding various exhibitions that will likely take you hours to complete. No backpacks nor big bags are allowed to be brought into the exhibitions. There is a locker area next to the ticket purchase to store your belongings before entering the exhibition floors.
Would recommend taking the elevator up to the top floor and then working your way down if it isn't too busy. Otherwise, going up one floor at a time, then take the elevator back down.

This is an absolute must see when you come to Aarhus. The rainbow panorama is just something else and the rest of the exhibitions are interesting over 6/7 floors. I spend around 2 hours here to see everything. It is very accessible too. Highly recommended.

Great contemporary art museum. The exhibitions are constantly changing and you can see new ones every 3-6 months. It’s worth visiting the rainbow installation at the last floor. You’ll have the chance to see a beautiful view over the entire Aarhus.

Amazing and beautiful museum! A must visit place in Aarhus for sure!
I bought the ticket some days before and it was perfect because when I arrived there was a long queue to buy a ticket.
The museum have beautiful and interesting exhibitions.
One of highest natural places in Denmark. They have removed trees from some slopes to enable nice views towards Silkebork lakes.

Simple and easy trek. Signs are posted along the way, so zero chance of getting lost. Ry is the closest station with connecting inter-city metro/tram/bus. But the frequency is not so good, so plan your trek well. The view from the top of Himmel Mountain is beautiful.

Ejer Bavnehøj is a mountain peak with a commemorative tower at the summit and a history as a warning beacon location. It offers breathtaking views of the beautiful surroundings and an opportunity for a walk in the area. Mollehoj, Denmark's highest natural point, is just about 500 meters away from Ejer Bavnehøj, making it worth visiting.
Ejer Bavnehøj is the third-highest natural point in Denmark (170.35 m). At its summit is a 13 m tall tower, built in 1924, commemorating the reunion of the south of Jutland with the rest of Denmark after the First World War. Historically Ejer Bavnehøj was mostly known as a site for a beacon where signal-fires were lit in order to warn the military and local population if the enemy were on the way. Entry tricket for the tower costs 10 DKK paid by MobilPay.

(Translated by Google) Cozy place for a small family trip. Fine ice Kiosk with coffee, ice cream etc. From the tower you have a fantastic view. But the most pleasant thing for us was the walk from Ejer Bavnehøj to Møllehøj. You have to walk across a field with cows grazing. It was fun for a bunch of "urban beans" to get close to the animals.

Hyggeligt sted til en lille familie tur. Fin is Kiosk med kaffe, is osv.
