The imposing Catholic Church of Saint Euphemia dominates Rovinj's skyline, with its tall bell tower offering sweeping city views. The church was built between 1725 and 1736, and is modeled after the campanile of St Marks in Venice.
Lovely church with the most magnificent views of Rovinj sea… the church inside is peaceful with a lovely religious atmosphere. It has a magnificent tower bell. The grounds of the church are just adorable. You need some comfortable shoes to claim to the top of Rovinj Town.
Ljubica Banic — Google review
The famous church in Rovinj, a beautiful view of it from various locations around Rovinj. The church is located on a hill, and various beautiful paved paths lead to it. Entrance to the church is free. For a minimal fee, you can climb to the bell tower, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city and the sea. Also sarcophagus is located in the church. The interior of the church is beautiful. It is very crowded here.
diana marceta — Google review
It's surprisingly big. Lovely interior.
You can climb the steeple, but it's not for the faint of heart. The steps are very old and worn, made of wood.
The view from the top is spectacular. The ticket costs 20 kuna (approximately 2.7 €) and it's worth every cent.
Ivan Bitunjac — Google review
The views are incredible from the tower but getting up and down is quite scary. The steps are small wooden planks with large gaps where you can see all the way down to the bottom. They are quite narrow and as well but the view makes it worth it. Went on a Sunday and it closed the morning for mass.
Joe Desourdie — Google review
Church at the top of the hill in Rovinj old town. Story goes this is the final burial place of a girl who believed in Christianity but was tortured by the Romans. Cost 7 Euros to climb the bell tower, all 180 plus steps up wooden staircases where you will be rewarded with a great view.
Wilson Foo — Google review
The view from the bell tower is amazing, but be aware that is not for you if you suffer from fear of heights, those stairs are terrifying!
Flor — Google review
The walk to the church has historical markers in different languages along the way describing historical buildings and sites. So be careful as the well worn cobblestones are slippery in places. Shoes with good treads are a must if you have balance issues! Inside of the church is interesting and we especially enjoyed reading the history of how St Euphemia was brought to the church. Be prepared to respect the dress codes. I always take a scarf to cover my shoulders and husband always removes his hat. The view is sensational and photo opportunities are everywhere. As a plus everyone we spoke with in the Old Town area was quite pleasant.
Betta Rautio — Google review
A must to visit if you are in Rovinj. Situated at the top of the hill, you can wander through the narrow streets as you climb up
Inside the church is lovely. Outside there are some great views.
Maria Lysenko (My Bucket List At 60) — Google review
Nice church on the top of the hill.
What I found amazing is if you ask you can climb the bell tower until the top.
Climbing there is just an adventure, the “steps” are made of wood, not all are the same size and you will se that everything is super old which for me was like magical thinking how the people climbed over there.
The view of you manage to reach the top is breath taking. Price is not high
Just for information the staff told me there are over 300 hundred steps but I counted around 180 so is not so difficult.
Nacho Cobos — Google review
Beautiful church with an nice tower located on top of a hill. The climb to the top of the tower, however, is not for everyone. The steps are old, wooden, and have large gaps. If you can make it, you'll see a great view of the entire town.
The church nave and alcoves are beautiful. It's well worth visiting.
Andreas Saldivar — Google review
Good looking church from the inside, but nothing extra on the outside. However you can take some nice photos sitting on the stone wall at the church square before sunset (after 18:00).
Swiss Atlas — Google review
Very nice church with exceptional view on the city and surroundings. The stairs are not in the best condition, but it definitely worth climbing up to the top.
Daniel Dobson — Google review
Beautiful view from the tower, the church interior is also nice. The way up the tower is not something I expected. The stairway was very scary, and somewhat felt like my life was in danger. But it did make the experience better in the sense that it was an emotianal journey. Also the 3 stars is mainly because the ticket and souvenir guy was just rude for no reason and that's not something I like in a temple.
The city hall of Grad Rovinj-Rovigno, also known as the Gradska Uprava, is a professional and efficient organization in Croatia. It is responsible for managing various administrative tasks such as issuing licenses and permits. The staff at this office are courteous and prompt in their service delivery to the public. The Basilica of Euphrasius is a 6th-century Byzantine-style Episcopal basilica complex located in the city of Porec, Croatia. The church features stunning mosaic art from the sixth century AD, as well as a bell tower and more.
Very old church from the byzantine period of time located in Poreč. The scripts are amazing. Part of the church was destroyed in the earthquake few centuries ago. The church is well preserved and in a good shape. In the church complex there is also a museum and exhibition. Fee has to be paid.

Basilica di Sant'Eufresia a Parenzo
Ancient Byzantine Basilica in Parenzo dating to the early Christian church with foundations from the 4th century A.D.
Parenzo is an Italian speaking city in Istria, now part of Croatia.
Michael Cross — Google review
Euphrasian Basilica was built in the 6th century on the site of an early Christian church, in the time of Bishop Euphrasius and Emperor Justinian I, and is located in the episcopal complex. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1997. It is well preserved and defectively place for a visit if you are nearby.
Daniel Haman — Google review
Unbelievable historic and religious complex that is still preserved almost exactly as it was in the 6th century! Beautiful mosaics and statue carvings. It is set right against the town walls overlooking the glittering Adriatic waters! Truly a well deserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the mosaics go back to the 4th century and you can see the ancient Roman walls that connect to the structure. The main building that is currently a museum and place of worship is an almost complete 6th century building with just minor updates. It really is like stepping back in time! Tickets are 10 euros and you can go through on your own or pay extra for an audioguide. The signs are in English, Italian and Spanish as well as Croatian. It was not very crowded at all when I went on a Monday afternoon in late June.
Aaron Ochse — Google review
Beautiful church with a lot of history. Well preserved and organized. Well worth some time when I’m Poreč. Nice mosaics laid throughout the place as well.
Mark Hayes — Google review
Unique place which takes you centuries of history back in time, showing a stunning Byzantine Basilica, with bell tower, impressive mosaics and architectural artifacts
Fabio Oppini — Google review
Fascinating and unevitable part of the city. The basilica has memories from over the last 1500-1600 years which is amazing! The Roman mosaics, part of the ancient christianity, the enterieur and the exhibition are also superworthy! It is worth to allocate at least 1-2 hours to the visit! Do not miss!
Bertalan Péter Farkas — Google review
Beautiful decorated altar in this Basilica and when I visited in November 2022 very quiet. And ticket sales were closed then so I had free entry.
Next to the church is a large Roman mosaic
Seimen Burum — Google review
One more beautiful and very interesting place to participate. It is full of history and really awesome. Porec itself is very ancient city, and basalica is the core. Amazing architecture, great exhibition. With no doubt, it is mandatory to see. It would be no so interesting for small children, but anyway there are a lot of space and kids will be happy enough. No beverages or snacks inside, be ready. And one more good point, there are not so hot as outside, and it is extra bonus to go there.
Pavlo Shaternik — Google review
It worth to visit in case you want to see something else but the regular boring typical touristic places. From the tower you will have a very nice 360 view. But prepare yourself to for the stairs!
The adult tickets will be 50 kuna per person. You should be open for culture and history to visit the place.
The lack of information around the building in English was a little bit disappointing.
Gergely Murányi — Google review
View is nice, but think about visiting it twice if you are with small kids. The number of visitors allowed to go up is not controlled at all, it's a total chaos both upside and downside. When we went up we had to wait at every corner to allow others to go down. When we tried to go down, the tourists going up did not stop, the observation point became totally overcrowded and many of us had to shout to start going downwards.
Ferenc Lombos — Google review
Once you have paid the entrance fee it will become quite clear to you why this Basilica was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. It shows the early Byzantine style and it is in very good shape considering how old it is. If you are planning to visit Poreč or a nearby place, I would say that this Basilica should top your list!
Wine Bar OLD TOWN in Poreč is located within the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, which dates back to ancient Roman times. The area boasts narrow streets, ancient ruins, and architectural monuments alongside charming shops and antique stores. The bar offers a delightful dining experience with delicious cheese and meat platters complemented by attentive service. Visitors can also enjoy complimentary shots while indulging in the exquisite truffle platter at an affordable price.
Perfect place in old town. The best wine and food plate. Traditional Istrian prosciutto 👌🏻 value for money is Great. Staff is friendly. I will definitely go back. Recommend to everyone.

The guys are very friendly and nice … we had a great wine and fine Bruschetta in the afternoon while waiting till the rain goes by … it was worth it
Christoph Heiß — Google review
We were at the Bacchus the night before, and decided to give it a try to other bars on the street.
Unfortunately the experience was not the best. All the food platters are always for 2 people, and the night before at Bacchus a food platter for one was already enormous and enough for us two. So, we have decided to only have wine and have dinner with real food somewhere else later. I wonder if you are traveling alone how will you finish a food platter for two or what will you order from the menu.
Also, the prices are way higher than the other bars on the street, and the waiter was all the time on his phone. He did not seemed interested in taking orders or in his work.
That is probably why it was the emptiest bar on the street at the time.

A really cosy bar in the old town of Porec. Me and my friends drank a few cocktails. But the games with Nedim, the guy who works there, were the best! Definitely 5 stars!

It is difficult to describe in words how delicious our meal was. In addition, there were free shots and great service. We ordered a delicious platter with cheese and meat and the clerk explained each item what it was. There were 5 of us and we had two boards for two people and that was more than enough. The truffle plank was highly recommended! The price is also so low that you almost start to feel guilty. This was our highlight of Porec and we will definitely come back here.

Amazing food, a great place to try some traditional Istrian food (istrian ham, sausages, cheese...) and bonus - great cocktails in old town, surrounded by beautiful historical buildings.

And will for sure come back again. 😉

Jama - Grotta Baredine, a karst cave that opened in 1995, provides visitors with guided tours as well as exhibits showcasing vintage tractors and pottery. The attraction also features an eatery for guests to enjoy while waiting for their tour. Tickets can be purchased with credit cards and tours typically last 40-45 minutes, where visitors will descend down numerous stairs to reach the bottom of the cave.
An unexpected gem. We stopped by without any real plan or intention, and we had so much fun. It's a beautiful cave with a guided tour lasting about an hour (our guide Igor was funny and engaging), and outside there is a relaxed outdoor restaurant and souvenir shop. Definitely worth a visit!
Marija Kusulja — Google review
Nice experience!! It is guided tour which costs 11 Euro per person and takes about 40 minutes. There was a queue for the ticket and according to the language, group number and tour start time is given. We had to wait almost an hour for the tour to start, after getting the ticket. There are 270 steps each way with 5 chambers where beautiful formations can be seen in the cave. Temperature stays pleasant at 14 degrees celsius all year round.
Absolutely worth a visit!!

Big, deep, great cave. Amazing viewes, good facilities. Highly recommend to participate. There a bit cold in the cave, plaase have some warmer clothes with you. For your information, go to the cave and back require basic physical readiness, if you have a children on your hands it will be some challenge for you. Flash pictures are prohibited, if you want to make a picture be sure you have enough sensitive camera. While you will be waiting for your guide(if I'm not wrong one tour takes about one hour) there are nice cafe under the cave. It is goid enough and delicious. And, one more bonus, there are interesting tractor history museum, very close to the cave. Better to participate both in "one shot".
Pavlo Shaternik — Google review
Really good place to spend about 2 hours. Cave is nice, 270 stairs down, the same way up. Guide talks a lot of interesting things about the area. Next to the Cave, there is nice restaurant and gift shop. Live music makes really cool atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Very nice experience. You will enter the cave with a guide and the total trip takes about 40 minutes. It is 270 steps down to the lowest point tourists can go. The actual deepest point is at 132 meter but only accessible with professional climbing gear.
The guide will tell about all the different rock formations that can be seen. A really must see experience.
During busy days it could take some time before you can go inside the cave. You will get a group number and time. During waiting you can stay at the location and see some other stuff there, or visit the town of Poreč.
Frank Melis — Google review
This is a fine little cave in the middle of nowhere. If you have a car it is easy to approach. There is a buffet so you can wait in the shades for a guided tour with a cold drink in your hands. You can buy your ticket with credit card too. A tour is 40-45 minutes, you have to go way down on many stairs 60 meter. In the cave is 12 celsius degree so make sure you have warm clothes and good shoes, because it is slippery too. There is english, deutch, croatien and french language toure. You can make photos but no use of flash. Have fun!
Tam?s F?zesi — Google review
Fantastic place especially for a people little bit curious of the surrounding world. 270 stairs, not this cold. You can manage with your children's as well. Amazing views inside. 240 Kun for whole family of 4.

Jama Baredine is truly a hidden gem in Istria, presenting a mesmerizing display of the underground beauty of nature. Its mysterious allure is further accentuated by the presence of an intriguing inhabitant of the underworld – the human fish, the largest true underground animal and a unique species endemic to these karstic areas.
While it can get quite crowded on days with bad weather, fret not as you are provided with a group number and an approximate entry time upon buying a ticket. The waiting time, which might be slightly longer than usual during the summer season, can be perfectly utilized to explore the other offerings of the place or engage in personal activities.
One such interesting feature is the Tractor Story. It's not just about old tractors, machines, and photos – it's a journey into the history and people of the regio. This exhibit provides a good pastime while waiting for your tour to start.
I give it 5 stars for the immersive and educational experience it provides, coupled with its unique attractions and excellent visitor arrangements. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Istria.
Michael Collavo — Google review
The guided tours are in English or German. When the ticket is bought, you are assigned to a group of around 20 people. Each group is led down into the cave about every 15 minutes, alternating guide language. In some places the path is very narrow and the groups have to wait for each other. The guides are very knowledgeable and give good explanations of what we are seeing as well as keep a close eye to ensure that all members of the group can keep up. Fair warning. Although the cave is well lit and everything is accessible via stairs, it can be a bit claustrophobic. The climb back out of the cave is about 270 steps and is encouraged to be done as fast as possible to make room for the other groups.
Jimmy Dansbo — Google review
An interesting cave to explore, escorted by a guide. The caves are extremely busy and groups are held back at points so as to allow others to exit. The climb back to the entrance is quite exhausting but in general the trip is well worth while. There is a selection of gift shops, a nice family restaurant and plenty of places for a picnic. For a few euro extra the caves can be combined with the tractor museum just a few hundred steps away across the car park.

Interesting place worth to visit when you want to see some other place than the ones at the coast. Well organized, affordable prices, enough shade to wait till your tour starts. Maybe it's better to go when the weather is good, because it isn't overcrowded (plus the air is naturally conditioned).

Probably the most impressive cave accessible for tourists in the istria region. There are about 60 m height difference to be managed. In five halls, there is one miracle after the other. In the deepest hall, there are two living olms (proteus) in a bassin.

Great adventure for adrenaline loving people. The zip line consists of two "routes", first one is shorter and second is longer and faster. Amazing views in both of them. You reach around 45km/h depending on weight.
Whole process including putting safety harness, instructions, ride and walk back to start station takes around 45 min. The reason is, that you are put together with other people in a group of around 12 persons and you have to wait for everyone to make their ride. Its super safe and staff was very professional. Would go again anytime. Well worth 22€.

Nice adventure. The two Ziplines in the cave are causing lots of waiting time until 15 people crossed in both ways. The trip would take 45-60 mins instead of 2,5 hours if it was just a walking path. However, at least a quite nice experience for the Kids. Cost was 30 / 25 € for adults / kids (in 2021)

Fantastic program! Exciting, special. The tour is led by two friendly experts. We get a helmet. During the entire tour, you have to step over rocks, climb, and in some places there is also a rope belay. The rocks are slippery and require a little skill. You cross the rocks and the water twice on a short wire rope course.
In the depths of the cave, you see experience an interesting presentation on a tablet, and then you can feel the experience of real darkness.
You can only see it with expert.

All the Sun umbrella are broken, we tried three times to find a useable one. the mad for the chair are really not clean, looks like never washing before, kind of disgusting. the only Service they have are to charge you heavy fee, and just cash, No Credit-card. for three chair and one Sun umbrella 240 KN. Well, i won’t come here again, and you better not as well, if you care about hygiene and service.

Nice beach, well organised, we can reccomend the massage there :) A bit loud due to the nearby road and towards the evening there were some harmless jellyfish in the deeper part of the sea.

Very nice quiet beach with nice view. It's quite relaxing to walk there in the winter. No tourists and no cars.

You can park your car in the camping site for 12 Euro a day, its right infront of the beach. It's really clean nice beach and wasn't thats crowded there are some fishes so bring a swimming goggles to see them, I loved that they have a mini market so you can buy snakes and whatever you want, they also have a restaurant and ice cream/ crepe corner. Enjoy your time there

This is one of the best beaches in this area. Much better conditions that in Lovran. Good infrastructure but there is problem with parking car. Other minus - to many people during day . Overall it is one of the best places near sea.
Lukasz Smiejkowski — Google review
Messy, crowded, paid toilettes, expensive parking, cold water due to many streams from the hills. Not comfortable at all, you can try it for one afternoon and move to the west coast. Will I return here? Nah, never, waste of time and money.
Miroslav Kolář — Google review
For snorkeling it's better to start on the left side on one of the tiny rocky spots. Otherwise left side has always shade near the trees and it only grows throughout the day. Toilets are paid, but just go to the camping sure across the road and they are free there. There are stands for your own umbrella. Kids like to make noise here. You can swim across the safety line a long way, nice to practice...

The Risiera di San Sabba concentration camp was used by the Nazi regime to detain and kill political prisoners, as well as Jews who were then deported to Auschwitz. The museum is a five-storey brick-built compound that commemorates the 5000 people who perished here and the many thousands more who were impacted by the camp's existence. The exhibits provide an overview of the history of the concentration camp and its use during World War II.
Surely not at the level of the most famous (or infamous) concentration camps. For me it is worth five stars: this place needs a visit, as it is the only camp in Italy with a crematorium
Stefano de Santis — Google review
Great, succinct museum in a place charged with heavy, too recent history. Definitely worth a visit. Plan about 30-40 mins. Audioguides currently unavailable due to covid.
Emilie Roberts — Google review
An unexpected little gem. Another sad point of reflection on WW2, and how grim it must have been. It's not a very big museum and there is a lot of reading. For me the map of the transition locations across Germany shows the systematic scale of the operation that was being undertaken.
In spite of being close to the town, people did not realise what was going on until late in the war.
Entry is free, but a donation is welcome.

Well put together as a museum of what should never have happened. Unfortunately we don't learn, everyone should visit as a reminder.

Not a light experience, but I considered it as a must, visiting the nearby.
Free entrance (I took audioguide for 3 Eur, but even without it, the museum provides enough information in Italian and English).
This is part of history, not so long time ago.

Interering place to visit but not much to see. A bit off the beaten track though easy to get to by bus. History is tragic and we hope it will not happen again. This is why it is important to visit such landmarks

Great museum and audiotour. Tells touching stories and still manages a good historical contextualization. Fitting architectural concept.

This is a less known, yet very important site to visit. A remarkable monument of an era that should not be forgotten.
For 2 euros only you can buy an audio guide which I really recommend to do so, as otherwise you won't understand what to look at and you won't have all the background information.
If you get there by car the most convenient is to park at the supermarket's parking lot nearby.

Small, but nice place to visit, to remember the history.
Be aware that with COVID situation today you need a “Green pass” and that many buildings accept limited amount of people at once (2 to 10 people max) so it’s better to come in the morning to avoid queues.

Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire is a 14th-century cathedral built on a Roman temple that features intricate frescoes and mosaics. Completed in 1400, it showcases a combination of Ravenna and Byzantine architectural styles with 13th-century frescoes and 12th-century mosaics. The chapel, known as Escorial Carlista, houses the tombs of nine members of the Spanish royal family.
Nice historical place with awesome view on the Trieste and all surroundings. Near to the centre of the city and parking garages, just a few minutes of walking.

San Giusto is the result of joining two churches together. Impressive interior with a large nave; two aisles on either side; 13th century Byzantine mosaics and a magnificent Gothic rose window. We stayed for mass officiated unusually by a young priest with a sense of humour!

Beautiful church. And next to it you can see the ruins from the romains and go to the bell tower. From there you also get another beautiful view. Going up costs only 2 euro per person

The ambience inside was quite special. The interior was also decorative and splendid as were the religious depictions and altars. Definitely a place to visit.

You can reach the church after a nice hike up the hill, but the view is worth it. Entrance to the tower costs €2 per person. In the tower you will find four large bells and a beautiful view. Parking is tricky and complicated, for experienced drivers only.

Beautiful cathedral. Very interesting, historical landmark. Good to learn about the history of Triest. Wonderful views of the city and the harbour.

14th century Gothic rose window, the portal and the massive bell tower. The whole of the façade, a hut. S. Giusto is a 'cathedral-patchwork' built in Roman times, on a paleochristian hall. Inside, the cathedral surprises, among the forest of columns, for the width of the five naves and the magnificent mosaics of the Venetian-Byzantine school (XII-XIII century). the magnificent wrought-iron chandelier overlooking the central nave, forged by Massimiliano for the throne room of his castle and then given to the cathedral before leaving for Mexico where he later died.

Beautiful cathedral. Ancient mixed with the modern. Interesting use of nautical motifs eg in the sacristy. A nice cool spot at the top of the city.

This is a very beautiful church. The architecture, artwork and stature is very nice. It’s beautiful, it’s not e big but it was much larger than I had anticipated. I really enjoyed the time I’ve spent here, if you enjoy visiting churches I would definitely recommend visiting this church when in Trieste.

Totally worth the climb to top of the hill where you find amazing romanesque cathedral. Not so high entrance but with beautiful old parts. Built on remains of roman temple. You can climb the tower to enjoy the view, but for that you have to pay 2€. In it you can see roman construction of old temple.

Beautiful church on the hill with really easy access when you are coming by car. It is possible to park in an underground garage on the sea level and the lift takes you all the way up to the church (and castle as well).
Definitely one of the best mammals you can visit in Trieste along with the castle, recommended 100 %.
Entrance is free within the opening hours.

The 13th century Cathedral is absolutly stunning. For its age, the well kept nature of the frescos and artefacts surpasses all expectations. We have seen 18th century churches and cathedrals in worse conditions. Have never seen anything like it, especially a cathedral with so many little chapels inside. Amazing, well worth the climb and visit. Almost looks like a movie set for a medieval fantasy film. A holy place rich with history, relics and color!

Very beautiful old church, main church of Trieste. Interior is very nice and interesting, you see and even feel how old the church is. And inside you can see very nice mosaics.
The church is located just near the San Giusto castle, on the top of the hill. You can go up the hill along narrow streets starting from the Trieste City Hall.
Irina Kravchuk — Google review
This is a treasure trove of a church for students of medieval art & architecture and the guides do not do it justice. Most European churches were heavily modified during the Baroque era and most of the Medieval and Renaissance decoration was lost. But not San Giusto; the only Baroque elements were in the side chapels. The church itself maintains its medieval 15th century aesthetic.
The church itself retains elements of far earlier churches and temples. It was originally built over a Roman temple in the 6th century and destroyed soon thereafter by the Lombard invasion. Two side-by-side churches were then built in the 11th and 12th centuries both with beautiful mosaic apses. The two churches were joined together in the 15th century, adding a larger central apse which now has a 20th century mosaic on its ceiling that is equally impressive, in its own way.
What is absolutely remarkable are the elements of each that have been preserved. The entry to the bell tower was built on a Roman foundation and many original columns were incorporated. The entire entryway to the church was used from the temple, and the sculpted figures on either side are a reused Roman funerary column. The mosaic floor to the left side of the church remains from the 6th century church and the 11th & 12th century apses have their original mosaics. It is worth a euro coin to turn on the lights to these apses for photos.
Finally, don't miss the 600 year old painting on the walls and ceiling of the rightmost apse. It's pretty deteriorated, but remarkable how much remains.
If you like medieval, don't miss this church in Trieste.

The Piazza Unità d'Italia (Piazza Grande) is a large, impressive square in the heart of Venice that is flanked by some of the city's grandest palazzi. The square is a beautiful triumph of Austro-Hungarian town planning and contemporary civil pride and is especially beautiful when lit at night. The buildings around the piazza are all well maintained and look really nice during the day or at night when they are illuminated with blue lights.
Beautiful square. It is often said to be Europe's largest square located next to the sea. The square was built during the period when Trieste was the most important seaport of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and includes the city's municipal buildings and other important palaces. You should visit Caffe San Marco – a magnificent place, well known to both tourists and residents

It's a good scenery. Walking around town, I parked in coop parking and just started walking. Parking everywhere else is a tight spot and you will be wasting time looking for one. Make sure you applied for green pass since cafe or restaurant are asking for it. I tool some picture while I was sightseeing, a lot of people are walking so it's not bad to venture around and walk towards the port which I didn't have time. There are a lot of graffiti and it would be nice if the city clean up a bit. It might look not safe but it is safe during the day, not sure about night time.

Between 1615 and 1617 , during the war of Gradisca between Venice and Austria (also known as the Uscocchi ), the territory was sacked and set on fire, although the walled city was saved thanks to the artillery of the fortress.
In 1797 , the French Napoleonic troops conquered the Rocca and, with the treaty of Campoformido , the Monfalcone area as well as a large part of the Republic of Venice was ceded to Austria ; nevertheless, the French troops remained in Monfalcone until January 1798 .

Skocjan Caves, a natural wonder in Slovenia, is an extraordinary underground network of fossil-filled caves with a river and canyons. The cave system was carved out by the Reka River over the past two decades and is home to huge, spectacular subterranean chambers that must be explored. The caves offer guided tours to visitors who can witness its beauty up close; it's recommended for visitors to wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear while exploring.
Incredible place, absolutely breathtaking. The murmuring river in the underground canyon leaves unforgettable impression. The scenes inside are like in Lord of the Rings (or Portal 2 game on underground levels).
When you're leaving the cave, you have 3 options to get back to the initial point: two short routes and one long. It's really worth to take the longest route (#3, takes 40min) and see all the beauty of the canyon.
Unfortunately, photos are forbidden inside, even without flash, there is a monitoring (however, a lot of people still do it)
Andrei Belashou — Google review
The tour was stunning. I must say, the cave was bigger and even more impressive than in all the pictures you see of it. I was just astonished most of the times. It does get a little bit hard if you’re afraid of heights because there is a bridge really high up that you need to cross, but the feeling of seeing everything going on in this cave is remarkable

If you're looking for an amazing underground adventure, I highly recommend checking out these caves. They were much bigger than expected, with an awe-inspiring array of natural formations and stunning underground landscapes.
One of the best things about these caves was how accommodating the staff were when we were late for our original booking. Despite our tardiness, they still made sure we were able to experience the tour and see all the incredible sights.
However, it's worth noting that there were many people on the tour, which may not be ideal for those who prefer smaller crowds. That being said, the incredible sights were definitely worth the company.
One thing to keep in mind is that visitors aren't allowed to take pictures inside the cave. However, at the end of the tour, you're able to snap a few shots to capture the experience.
Overall, if you're looking for an amazing underground adventure, these caves are definitely worth checking out. While the crowds may be a bit larger than desired, the stunning natural formations and accommodating staff make it an unforgettable experience. Just don't forget to bring a camera for the end of the tour!

Such a great experience. If you go, definitely take the red trail when you come out of the cave. Be sure to get reservations in advance. All of the tours were sold out on the day we went. The initial portion of the guided tour does not allow photography which is unfortunate, but I guess it keeps the tours moving.

Spectacular in size and impressive. It is like visiting underground canyons with river rapids. The scenery is stunning both inside and outside. We definitely recommend to do the long trail. It is very different from Postojna caves, they are not comparable.

It’s hard to put into words how incredible these caves are/ the experience walking through this cave. The tour was incredible, and I appreciate not being able to take pictures inside as it forces you to focus on the true, raw, natural beauty. The river rushes through as you walk along the dimly lit path. The tour guides are super knowledgeable and it is definitely worth a visit. One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life. As a freshwater ecologist, I was in heaven!

Looked expensive at 22 euros for the guided tour, but absolutely worth it. Tour is a bit more than an hour through the main caves, and afterwards you can do another unguided part for 30min to 1hour which is amazing.
In may it is still not that busy. Highly recommended.
Note that photos are not allowed in the guided part of the tour

It's hard to find the right words to describe the Skocjan Caves. This place is magical and so raw. I've been to several caves, but this one made a fantastic impression on me. The Skocjan Caves are so huge that you can easily feel the space. Phenomenal rock formations - stalactites and stalagmites, plus a rushing river beneath us. You are not allowed to take photos in the main area. We chose the longest trail - it's beautiful, it was a bull's-eye.
Agnieszka Rybczyńska — Google review
Absurdly breathtaking, the most extraordinary cave experience I've had. The underground canyon is mesmerizing and feels like you have stepped into a scene from Lord of The Rings.
The steps can be a little strenuous and the ground a tad damp so pack in comfortable hiking boots and long sleeves as it can be chilly. No photos are allowed in the caves themselves to preserve the natural light (or lack of it) as much as possible. They even turn off the navigation lights between tours.
An absolute must foe those seeking out the grandeur of caving.
Eden Theron — Google review
The most beautiful cave I have every visited. It is amazing to see that nature can create such massive caves underground. Be aware that the cave has become a big tourist attraction and that buying tickets beforehand is highly recommended. Visiting the cave is done in groups of 40 with a guide. Inside of the cave it is NOT allowed to take any pictures (only at the exit). At the exit of the cave there are three options of returning to the main building. I recommend taking the longest route, if the walking doesn't bother you, as it will take you through some extra caves where you can take some pictures.
Thomas Carsjens — Google review
Very highly recommended for the nature lovers. Many thousands years old limestone caves filled with millions of drip stones (stalactites ) and stalagmites, and one of the world’s largest underground river canyons. The cave is throughout well lit and provided with safety railings along the canyons. There are so many amazing chambers, one of them called the hades chamber is the most spectacular with the largest stalagmite of Europe and one of the largest in the world. There is a guided tour available for 22€, which is absolutely worth the time and the price. Really amazing team of tour guides, very friendly, attentive and informative. Towards the end of the guided tour they provide you with three options to return to the initial point. Two of the routes take you further for small hikes. Unfortunately we had to take the shorter route of 20 minutes, which was mostly stairs. There comes a small detour for the splash falls, which is really awesome. Although the photos are strictly forbidden inside, but people do manage to capture secretly. There is a big parking place with lots of space available.

These caves were crazy awesome. The tour was fun and I formative, but the caves are just so big. I felt like I was in an Indiana jones movie. So great. At the end of the tour there is a short walk back and a longer one. DO THE LONGER WALK! It is seriously worth the extra 30 min, and you get to see bonus caves and very nice landscapes.

This was the most amazing caves I’ve ever seen, and is definitely a must see if you ever visit Slovenia!!
Remember to buy a guided tour ticket in advance. Our tour guide, Vesna, was just the best, really good at explaining and telling stories about the caves!
You are not allowed to take pictures inside the caves, which really makes you take in the experience.
There are good facilities at the visitor center, where you can buy food and souvenirs.
We will definitely be back the next time we visit Slovenia

Although it's not allowed to take photos in the caves (the place is on the UNESCO list) you are guaranteed to have the greatest experience of your life. To my mind, it is a far more authentic and less commercial attraction than the Postojna cave...
REMEMBER TO BUY THE TICKETS IN ADVANCE!!!

Definitely worth the visit.
From the meeting point we had to do a short walk to the cave entrance at which point the rules were explained and the groups were formed.
The initial sections of the cave weren’t that interesting but the canyon area is truly amazing. You can hear and see the water rushing through.
Compared to Postajna Cave, this one was much better organized. Being less popular also contributes to a better experience.

Very impressive. The tour would remind you of lord of the rings. Also very different from Postojna cave but definitely worth it. Guide was in English and explained well however sometimes not good to hear due to the environment or echo. The doline is very pretty and there are viewpoints or tours that you can follow by yourself. Recommended to buy tickets in advance.

We visited the Skocjan Caves recently, and it was an incredible experience. The natural beauty of these caves is awe-inspiring. The underground chambers, stalactites, and stalagmites are a testament to the wonders of nature.
The guided tour was informative, and our guide was knowledgeable about the geological history of the caves. The highlight was definitely the enormous underground canyon with the rushing river. It felt like being in a different world.
The organization and facilities at the site were excellent, making the visit comfortable and enjoyable. However, one thing that disappointed me was the prohibition on taking photographs inside the cave, it would have been wonderful to capture some memories of this remarkable place.
I would also caution against visiting the souvenir shop on the premises. The salesperson there was unfriendly and seemed disinterested in helping tourists, which was a stark contrast to the overall positive experience of the caves.
Despite these drawbacks, I highly recommend visiting the Skocjan Caves to anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature and geological wonders. It's a must-see attraction in Slovenia.

The caves are amazing, there is some massive caves. The tour guide is very informative. The pathway is well lit up, not too bad walking around. There is the river that is so loud when we get nearer

Love it! It is so worth it to visit it. I don't have a lot of pictures, because of safety, it is prohibited to take them. But I have a lot of nice memories.. it is open-minded and has a wow effect. We were during October, so it wasn't so touristic, but of course, the tickets are better to buy online.

Under UNESCO protection the biggest underground canyon in Europe. One hour of descent into darkness....well if u see when they turn the lights off behind you. Total darkness, amazing.
Predjama Castle, located 9km from Postojna in Europe, is an impressive fortress that was built within a cave on the side of a 123m cliff. The castle's four storeys were constructed gradually over the years starting from 1202, but the majority of what can be seen today dates back to the 16th century. Its location and design make it appear impenetrable and it features restored living quarters as well as dungeons and even a secret tunnel.
Predjama castle is located approximately 15-minute drive from the highway E61 and 10 minutes from the Postojna Caves, so it is convenient to visit both in the same day. We purchased combined ticket (Castle+Caves) for approx. 40 EUR per person. Parking was not difficult to find, however we arrived relatively late at around 16:30 (castle was closing at 17:00), so I imagine during the peak hours the situation might be different.
There are no guided tours inside the castle, instead you get an audio guide (included in the ticket price) which was available in many languages (at least 15). The explanations were helpful, straight to the point and relatively short, so for me that was one of the best audio guide experience. It took us around 45 minutes to properly explore the castle. Normally castle is open until 17:00 but we were leaving the premises at around 17:15 and no one was pushing us out.
It does indeed look magnificent as almost the whole castle is covered by huge rock. You get to explore many different rooms, some of them looking more like caves and others like actual livable rooms. There are some nice viewing points of the valley at several terraces located in the castle. It is definitely worth to visit as there are not many "cave castles" around the world!
There are couple of restaurants in the proximity of the castle and restrooms near the parking lot.

This is just amazing which is definitely on my top list of the castles. Very well organized, audio guide in details, reasonable visit routine with a lot of attractions. Even the kids can enjoy the whole tour which is not easy for sure. Highly recommended!

Touring this castle was one of my favorite activities on a two week adventure that was filled with amazing sights. Different from other castles. The self-regulated audio tour is important in understanding the history of the castle.

Very unique castle built into a cave. Audio tour gives interesting details as you walk through the castle. Easy to do the tour at your own pace
Ron Huber — Google review
Very interesting castle and history with the included audio guide. There's a decent amount of walking up stairs and through the rooms, but it's evenly spaced with audio guide sections which are numbered to listen. The parking is average an consists of a paved area with about 50 bays. After this fills up, you park in a grassed marshy paddock which is a bit hard to get in and out once more people start coming. Other than that, good castle but make sure you get there early

a beautiful castle set into the side of a mountain.. the app we used for the castle tour was really good and gave lots of useful information during the tour. everything was clearly sign posted so we knew what we were needed to listen to. overall a wonderful experience- highly recommend this as a stop over on your travels

Absolutely magical place to visit. We got there in the later afternoon and booked an audio tour that leads you through the castle. Very informative and interesting information about such a unique place. Staff were friendly and views from the castle are spectacular. A must see when you are in Slovenia.

Amazing castle build in the rocks. Just imagine the work it should have been in the 13th century. The guided audio tour is awesome and gives you a lot of information. Book this together with the cave and your day is complete.

A beautiful interesting castle, a nice place to relax, also suitable for families with children, mobile devices are also available for interpretation in different languages when scanning a QR code. Beautiful views of the surroundings, there is also a souvenir shop.

Absolutely beautiful castle surrounded by stunning scenery. It has a fascinating history.
I recommend coming early because it can quickly get crowded. Also bring a hoodie and good shoes as it can get cold and slippery in the castle.
There is a free audio guide app that is essential to the experience. You can download it near the entrance as there is free wifi for just that.

Great looking castle with a really nice audio guide included in the price and with a free app if you don't want to hold guide by your ear al the time. The guide really gives a nice value as it points a lot of interesting solutions they used in the castle to use the rock and Cave merging with the castle

Incredible!! For those who like historical places and medieval stuff, this place offer all of this!
We were surprised by the place and the high level of preservation shown.
Even the kids - that were naturally skeptical of the place - in the end had so much fun and appreciated very much the place, with the support of the audio guide!

This is just an amazing castle …. A dream place full of adventures and surprises in side … bring comfortable shoes and with some grip this place is natural wet … there is not lifts…. The castle is full of hidden corners that takes you to a nice natural cave. You need a car or a tourist bus to reach this place . You must pay for parking per hour. The castle is in the world Guiness records of the largest castle built on a cave. They have audio Guia in many languages. People were polite and nice. You must reserve in advance tickets if you don’t want disappointments specially during summer time.

It was a great experience. I've never seen a castle inside of a cave. The history of it and the unique architecture that is part of it, are also great to listen to.
Hard to imagine life over there that time but they did it. If you are somewhere around just turn here and you won't regret it. Nearby is also a small local pub with some local stuff. Thank you🤩

Great experience visiting this historic castle. We got tickets at the door as we visited in low season but I would suggest reserving tickets online to make sure you do not miss out!

Really nice castle built into the cave. The day we went was quite crowded and a bit overwhelming. However, this is not something you want to miss if you’re in town. Here you are given a self guided audio tour, offered in many languages. The castle itself is well curated, but be careful because the stair cases that are connected to the cave part of the castle are very slippery and many people fell. It’s best to go slow and hold on to the railing.
You can access this castle by taking the free bus. This bus comes from the train station - bus station - predjama caves - to the castle. Check the website for the times.

One of the nicest castles i have visited. The castle is located inside of the rocks and that is truly a unique experience to see this. We had an audioguide and were very interested. In every room you can see old furniture, weapons and armour, ... At the end of the tour you'll go inside the rocks behind the castle. This was something i have never seen before. Really worth a visit. The lady in the gift shop was really friendly. (and there's a cat!!)

A truly amazing Castle with a beautiful view. It was very interesting listening to it’s history (they provide audio players). We bought tickets at the small shop when we arrived. If you visiting with babies make sure you have a carrier or just hold them. Lots of stairs (Castle is inside a cave basically). I cannot imagine living in those times in that Castle, it’s just amazing to picture everything in your head. If you are near by, make sure to make a stop here. Is worth the visit!

This medieval castle, which is the largest cave castle in the world, is still intact after 800 years. You'd wonder how they managed to attach a castle to a cave when cement, screws and drills hadn't been invented yet. I had an audio guide explaining different chambers/ rooms. Beware that there are many steps and uneven paths.

Stunning castle that is located in a cave and surrounded by a farming village. The place is definitely worth visiting when in Slovenia and takes an hour to get to from Ljubljana by bus. Worth noting a cab is needed from the Pastojna bus station to the castle. All the shops were closed as we went during off season.
Caves are stunning as well as Predjamski castle. Shuttle bus to the castle start at 10am although castle is open from 9am. Timetable isn't on the web site.

An epic tourist attraction from ticket office sales, to the commentated cave experience and subsequent retail options.
We loved it here, it's so quiet and calm. Not overcrowded at all, free choice to place your tent wherever you'd like to. Enough trees to lay in your hamock all day, nice little pool, clean bathrooms. This place clearly has it's history and we thouhgt it was really charming. Wandering around in the woods in the morning and seeing the light beams shining threw the branches is truly relaxing.

We spent one night here - 2 people 1 camper car for 22,50€.
WC and shower stalls are in the basement. There are also a cooking and a washing station available.
Everything was clean but quite cold end of October. The bathrooms aren’t warmed up - and a little aged to be honest.

good camping, high up in the mountains, not new but maintained well. Cabins have everything you need, but not more. perfect for a few days, but would not recomend for longer than a week.

Very nice and cozy place. We stayed both in bungalows and in a tent and everything it's clean, it's a quiet place, people are very helpful: I was out of gas, and the guys from receptions solved my issue in 20 minutes!
There are minor negative things but without relevance, so I will not point it out. A good breakfast each morning, 3 km away from Postojna Cave, couple of restaurants around. Also nice and clean pool.

This camping perfect for one night stay near Postojna Cave. The house was clean with a little bathroom. We had plentiful and delicious breakfast. Fresh bread, hams, fried eggs, several kinds of cheese and vegetables.
The forest is quiet and very cozy. Very nice place. Totally appropriate value for money.

They forgot us to tell we need to order bread for the next day. Great camping site in the woods. Restaurant ok, but not bad. Showers and toilets are old but clean. Perfekt located to visit the big cave of Postonja or even a day trip to Ljubljana.

We went here camping for three days
It's a big campsite with a free choice of place. We found a quiet spot between the trees which helped us stay cool in the heat. The kids enjoyed the pool very much.
I loved the quiet environment and I highly recommend waking up early to take the Pivka Jama and Black Cave tour at 9am.
An extra compliment for the staff that is seemingly always present to clean, trim and keep an eye on everything.
Gert-Jan de Boer — Google review
Rating for bungalows only, I did not visit the camping area. Everything is super old, showers are clogged flooding the entire bathroom. Walls are damp and cold, buildings smell like mould and cigarette smoke. Beds and mattresses are probably 40 years old, squeaking and cracking with every move. However everything is very clean (as much as is possible with furniture this old), bathroom is clean and gets disinfected, sheets are clean and tidy. Service employees obviously give their best. Still wouldn't really recommend.

eva rix — Google review
We stayed in one of the stone huts which had a small (quite badly equipped) kitchen, a dinner table, a toilet and shower and a double bed downstairs and steep spiral stairs up to a mezzanine with 2 single beds. When we arrived there was a terrible smell of damp inside and black stuff on the walls. This smell slightly faded over the 3 nights we were there although when we opened the kitchen cupboards we got wafted with the smell and everything in the cupboard had to be washed again before we used it as it smelled so bad. Despite this, the place did grow on us and it would be quite a nice place it just needs a big revamp. The staff are very friendly and when we informed them of the issue they came down very quickly and offered us either a big discount or for them to move us to a place in the town as all of the other huts were occupied. They did say the damp was due to the floods and ours was the worst affected but the damp was clearly quite old. The forest campsite was very nice with a small clean pool, a basketball court, table tennis and tennis courts but you had to pay a lot to use the courts and they didn't have tennis rackets for people to rent. They had basketballs and table tennis rackets for people to borrow. The restaurant was nice, especially for one on a campsite, and had a variety of dishes. There were also the pivka jama caves on site but they were very expensive for small caves. We were also a half an hour drive from postojna Caves which were massive and amazing. You got a little train down to the centre of the caves then had an hour tour around them. Great activity for everyone.
Jessica Brown — Google review
Camping located 10 min away from Postojna Cave. It’s quite old (especially the bathrooms) and quite expensive for what it offers. The mini market is closed, the restaurant doesn’t look interesting at all. It was fine for one night but overpriced and if I new that we could sleep in our campervan at Postojna parking over night for half the price I would do that for sure.
Zosia K — Google review
the employees are very uncouth and make fun of people who don't speak good english. Are very interested in profit, not satisfaction. The restaurant is good. the bungalows not very hygienic. There could have been a broom or something similar in the bungalow, it got dirty unintentionally and no cleaning lady came, even if we stayed for several days.

We stayed 1 night in bungalow nr 22. This bungalow has serious moisture and fungus problems. We were idiots and should never have agreed to stay there. Our estimated life expectancy have now probably been reduced by 5 years.

I stayed here for two nights in a tent in May and I really love this campsite! The site is beautifully located in the forest and still had the forest feel. Lot of shade and options to choose pitches with some privacy. There are also many services available like a pool, beachvolleybal, basketball and tennis court. Restaurant has nice food and the people were really kind and helpful. Cave and castle also close by. And this all for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Nice campground with everything you will need. It is quiet and spacious.
Bring some good stakes and a hammer as the ground is very compact and hard.
Prices are around 15 Euros per person per night if you go there with a car and sleep in a tent.
Wolke — Google review
We went with a camper, there are no set pitches so people stand wherever they like, meaning you pay 40 euros to park on standard parking lot. Make your self a favour and sleep in postojna cave parking lot, it costs only 20 euros. The camper services are very inconvenient and the camping shop is closed.
Jędrzej Wissuwa — Google review
The fairly spacious campsite is beautifully situated directly in the forest and offers numerous tent and mobile home pitches as well as individual holiday homes. We really liked the forest atmosphere. The site includes a restaurant, a small pool and sanitary facilities that are a bit dated, but which were always clean. Unfortunately, the supermarket is closed. A big advantage is definitely the proximity to the "Postojna Caves".
National museum with a broad collection of paintings & artifacts, including a 60,000-year-old flute.
Fabulous place, interesting castle. Friendly staff! I would suggest a visit, especially to whom love history and stories.

This is such a nice little castle. Beautiful on the outside and very well taken care of on the inside. I had somewhat of a private tour since I was the only one and the girl great. The Krizna Cave in Slovenia is an impressive underground cave system with over 20 lakes that visitors can explore by boat. Unlike most other Slovenian caves, the Krizna Cave provides its visitors with lamps and boots for their visit as there is no electric lighting inside. The tour lasts around one to two hours and takes you through the dry parts of the cave, including a short boat ride on the first lake.
Did the 7h tour in a group of four plus our guide Gašper. Were really lucky because the water level and humidity conditions were perfect, so we could still sail comfortably in the little boats and see clearly with the lights on. Excellent example of conservation and care of nature which here comes first before us tourists. This was once in a lifetime experience and I definitely recommend it to those who are able to do it!

Very interesting visit. We highly recommend to take the visit also to the bear tunnel because is worth it. The cave doesn't have any artificial light or path, which keeps its originality. The guide was a really enthusiastic woman who explained everything really good. I would definitely reccomend it, also not so crowded with tourist.
PS: We found a semi real cave bear xD

Unique experience! Much less touristy than the Postojna caves (also less lighting, you can't see as much but you feel more like the people who first discovered the caves). Be sure to bring cash as there is no electricity to process card payments.

Fantastic cave and good guide. We did the short tour, about 1 1/2 hour. Lots if explanation.
They also do the 4 and 8/9 hour tours. Only on reservation and a limited nr of people per year. We had a group of 6. Very worth the visit.

This is a great place to have a more 'authentic' cave experience than that on offer at the nearby Postodjna Jama. Without any artificial lighting (except for torches and lighting under the boat) you get a real sense of being underground in monsterous caverns. On paper some of the caverns in the Postodjna Jama system are larger, but they feel much smaller in comparison due to the use of artificial lighting. The guides here are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic with excellent English. The boat ride and cave bear skull are real highlights. Tours last approximately one hour and waterproof boots and torches are provided. Warm clothing (long trousers and a jumper/fleece) is highly recommended.

The 4hr excursion through the cave lakes was an excellent experience. The cave itself and the underground ecosystem is mesmerising and we also had a fantastic guide - Luka, who had great knowledge, super skills and brilliant humor. Even my male partner "fell in love with him a little bit" which is as big of a compliment as it gets :-D Well done Luka, you made this experience even more special for us with your presence and expertise

Really interesting cave exploration, even though it's much less publicized. They equip you with a flashlight and guide you into the cave. There are no other light sources in the cave, which makes a very cool experience. The only disappointment on 1 hour tour is, that the boat part is very short, around 15 min. I would highly suggest to book longer tours in advance, but note that queue time is quite long.
Peter — Google review
When we arrived at the parking we read that they only accept cash, so we had to drive to the nearest atm some kilometres away to find an ATM. This meant we had to wait for 2hrs till the next tour. The guide first explains the underground system and that we only walk for 650m, followed by a short boat trip and then walk back. The experience underground was incredible, and would love to do a longer tour another time.

This was probably the best tour I have ever done. Gasper, the tour guide, was able to get a tour for us with only one days notice to the first lake and the bear cave for my family of six. The cave was amazing and unlike any cave I had ever toured. The only light was from the provided flash lights. Gasper was an excellent tour guide and spoke excellent english. The tour was not to challenging even for my 6 year old.

Not as popular as the Postocjan or Skocjan caves, but well worth a visit. There are several guided tours available which give you a unique opportunity to explore this cave in a more personal setting. Highly recommended to reach out to them beforehand since the weather (eg lots of rain) might impact the available tours and overall capacity is very limited. Some tours only take 4 people max, because you go further into the cave with a rubber boat.
It's impressive to see some fossils and marks of the cave bears (bigger than polar bears) who lived in this cave thousands of years ago.
Finally, take it easy on the gravel road towards the cave. Cars go in both directions and space is limited.

We did the small tour one hour tour and it gives you and idea of how beautiful this cave is. We wished the tour was longer but the bigger ones need to be booked upfront. Any one traveling with a dog: they just build two perfect dog cages in the shadow, about 30meters from the entrance of the cave. We were the first ones the use it. So you can safely leave your dogs while you enjoy the cave. Big big plus for us!

Beautiful nature, eye stunning green everywhere around you. There aren't strong enough words to describe this place. You can walk, rent a bike or an e-bike. There are a few restaurants and a bar to have a coffee or a beer. Get there early so you have enough time to enjoy the Logar Valley.

Note:there is an entrance fee (per car) they collect before entering the valley, but it is very much worth it. The sites are amazing even in a bad weather, perfect for cycling, hiking, strolling or just taking pictures.

Absolute quiet wonder of Slovenia. I expected more tourists, but it was very pleasant not to be in a crowd, kinda hard to believe, because this is one of the most amazing and beautiful parts of this little country. A must visit place if you are in sLOVEnia.

The most peaceful and beautiful place in Slovenia for me. Don't miss a hiking trail to the waterfall. Enjoy a coffee with berry or apple strudel with a spectacular view in the local cafe.

Great hiking route. The second highest waterfall and Rinka River located through this valley. Also a cafe serving beer, tea and coffee is located near waterfall with amazing view.

Definitely worth seeing. Entrance for car costs 7 euro. The views are amazing. There are big parkings, benches, restaurants and toilets

There is an entrance fee of €7 per car. This area is very beautiful and perfect if you love hiking, as there is alot of hiking trails. Upon entry you get handed a brochure with information about the area. At the very end of the valley you will find the Rinka waterfall, which is a 15 minute walk from the nearest parkinglot. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing valley with a breathtaken landscape. There is a nice path that starts at the beginning and leads to the Rinks waterfall. It is 7km long (one way), however it is possible to park at each of the parkings along the way and walk only a part of it. In each parking there is a nice resturant.

This valley was amazing! It's so quiet and peaceful. When we were there there, there was no one else so we had the whole valley to ourselves. We enjoyed the nature, did a nice walk and ate in the restaurant in the middle of the valley. Really good food and a really nice lady. Also a cute dog :)

One of the most beautiful places that you must visit in Slovenia, there is a restaurant inside and you can rent a bicycle and take a tour. Highly recommended

A beautiful and serene area which you can do by foot or bike. You may also drive in for a fee of 7 euros as of 18-06-2023.
There's a beautiful waterfall and several ways to enjoy the locale. You can purchase locally farmed products and hike in the pretty surroundings.
It was worth our visit and the waterfall was a simple and quick hike from the parking (after driving the full 7.3km road in the valley).

Very beautiful valley just across the border from Austria. To best experience the valley, park your car at the hotel near the entry gate of the valley (€7 admission fee for cars) and then walk the trail to the waterfall. Along the way are multiple opportunities for a quick bite (local specialties) and drinks. The trail ends at the waterfall which is beautiful but also the most touristic area of the valley. This is also the starting point of various hikes. Trail itself is flat and easy took us 2,5 hours roundtrip.
Minimundus is an impressive theme park featuring scaled-down models of over 150 iconic world landmarks set in a lush park. The models are on a scale of 1:25 and the attention to detail is remarkable. Visitors can enjoy additional activities for children, pet-friendly areas, dining options, and a souvenir shop. The park offers free parking without any time limitations during this season.
Fantastic park, great miniatures. Really impressive. You need a few hours to take a good look in everything, enjoy, have fun. Additional activities for kids. Pet friendly. You have a restaurant inside and small souvenir shop. Toilets are clean and tidy. Parking is free for visitors, without time limitations in this period of the year.

Great place, huge park with many miniatures from all around the world. the most iconic constructions. if you can't visit all of them in person here you can see them in one place in huge details. spent here more than an hour and still did not manage to see them all. great place also with small kids. some of them are moving or making noises. everywhere are small trains passing thru or ships. there is also an inside part which is not less interesting or can be used for times when weather is not as good. you can pay by card. souvenir shop included. there is also a coffee shop for a quick bite. highly recommend

The park is great! it has over 160 models of well known attractions. There is stuff to do, not just look at the models. There is a playground for children if they get bored. The park is well cleaned, there wasn't any trash on the ground. I recommend it, great place for children, a great place to spend a day in.

Beautiful place. we will definitely come here again when we have children :) we spent a nice 2/3 hours here + they have delicious ice cream. I recommend visiting, great place for children and dates
Stankaaa — Google review
The exebition with the buildings are great (but the entrance is expensive, no family ticket). The children also loved it, especially the working railroads and trains. And the reason for the 1 star is: the restaurant. It ruined the experience. Very overpriced, the food is bad, it's a rip off (small portions, with barely any sides, deep frozen, chewy meat, it was water with sirup instead of cola,...) and smoking is allowed, although there are many children in the park and in the restaurant too. So, if you visit the park, eat your dinner elsewhere.
MF Gugli — Google review
This was an amazing experience for the family. Highly recommended. We learned so much about the major landmarks across the world but also a lot more about Austrian architecture and history. The replicas are so impressive. Enjoyed the space shuttle launch. The 4D movie was ok, but not amazing.

A nice, tidy and clean place to get to know Italy in miniature. Everything is clean, the models are very neat, detailed and beautifully done, the environment around them is faithful with real miniature trees, the water surface is clean. Traveling by boat through Venice in a scale of 1:5 is also a nice experience. In addition to main Italy miniature and Venice, there is a lot of additional content. The only problem is that there is no shade during the tour of the miniatures, and on the day of our visit it was too hot

The Lindwurm Fountain is a historic masterpiece from the late 1500s, featuring a stone sculpture of a winged dragon that depicts the city emblem spewing water. This fountain is an excellent example of Mannerism, weighing six tons and consisting of two monolithic pieces sculpted in 1593. In addition to the statue of Heracles, created forty years after its initial construction, there are finely wrought iron decorations around it that complete the assembly with heraldic motifs.
A masterpiece of Mannerism, six tons of stone, two monolithic pieces (body and tail) created in 1593, with the statue of Heracles added forty years later, in allusion to the mythical heroic deed resulting in the foundation of the city. Fine wrought iron around the fountain and heraldic decorations complete the assembly. The illumination makes for a colorful spectacle at night.

The lindworm (worm meaning snake), also spelled lindwyrm or lindwurm, is a mythical creature in Northern and Central European folklore living deep in the forest that traditionally has the shape of a giant serpent monster. It can be seen as a sort of dragon.
According to legend, everything that lies under the lindworm will increase as the lindworm grows, giving rise to tales of dragons that brood over treasures to become richer. Legend tells of two kinds of lindworm, a good one associated with luck, often a cursed prince who has been transformed into another beast (as in the fairy tale The Frog Prince), and a bad one, a dangerous man-eater which will attack humans on sight. A lindworm may swallow its own tail, turning itself into a rolling wheel, as a method of pursuing fleeing humans.[1]
The head of the 16th-century lindworm statue at Lindwurm Fountain (Lindwurmbrunnen [de]) in Klagenfurt, Austria, is modeled on the skull of a woolly rhinoceros found in a nearby quarry in 1335. It has been cited as the earliest reconstruction of an extinct animal.

Similarly to Maria Theresa statue, this statue is placed on the main square. If you are going to Klagenfurt, you can't avoid it. But rather than looking at it, google the story that it represents, as the statue itself if not that interesting without it.

Lovely small town in Austria with nice people and architecture. We stayed for a night while traveling Austria and were surprised with quality of experience we had here. Small but very well maintained, with all beauty of old buildings and churches. Lovely place for a walk, bite and sip. Would be definitely coming back for more 🙏🏻

Thanks Google for telling me this fountain is called Lindwurm. The beast on top of it is the symbol of Klagenfurt Am Watersee, and the fountain stands in the middle of the town's main square. Excellent place to walk around, skateboard, sip a wine. Or two.

Main monument of Klagenfurt, a "dragon" (mytically a worm, therefore also "Lindwurm"). The man Stück (Herkules) come centuries after the Lindwurm has been built.
Lake Klopein is a scenic destination that boasts of crystal clear water, making it an ideal place for summer swimming. The lake is surrounded by resort hotels and restaurants offering a range of services to visitors. With a moderate temperature of 28 degrees Celsius during summer, the lake provides ample opportunities for bathing in its 12 beach baths. Whether you're looking for relaxation or adventure, Lake Klopein offers something unique for everyone visiting this lovely vacation spot.
This is the warmest of all Carithian lakes, and for sure the most friendly one of you are looking for a swim fin with your dog. Absolutely love the facilities and what nearby bars and cafes offer and serve.

The most terrible experience that I've ever had. I tried with family and two little children spent some time sitting near the lake and enjoy the view. But, you can do it only sitting on a benches near the road on distance more than 400m. All area's, that I found, near the lake was covered by three-meter fence with turnstiles, other part with barbed wire. Didn't found place to walk near the lake, and touristic map shows only parking and resting places after the fence. Maybe this place is suitable for a sunbathing and swimming on that special payable areas after three-meter fence. Only it was not my case.

Very clean, clear and warm lake with a pretty view. Although the area around the lake is very touristic, it’s a cute place with many good restaurants and plenty of possibilities for activities nearby. There are many private hotel-owned beaches and some public bathing beaches. In the south of the lake there’s a little area where you can swim without the need to enter a public bathing beach (don’t expect a lawn for sunbathing though, it’s next to a street for pedestrians) Many hotels provide stand-up paddle boards and various boats. The place is also suitable for biking. [stayed 1 night]

Perched on a rocky outcrop in the heart of a picturesque plain, Hochosterwitz Castle is a medieval marvel with a history dating back over 1,000 years. This imposing fortress boasts 14 defensive gates and offers panoramic views of Slovenia and East Austria from its elevated position. The castle's walls and crenellations wind their way up the mount, leading to the formidable fortress at its summit.
An old place to spent some time. Interesting place, from bottom to the top you can walk for 20-25 minutes or you can take the panoramic elevator. The cost for this is 9 euro two way ticket. There is also the possibility to buy only one way from top to the base.

Great castle and great view! It is really beautiful, up in the castle is a Cafe, there is also a lift, but I think you have to pay for it. It is a nice walk up to the castle. I recommend! Also? There is a nice souvenir shop. :)

It's a nice fort/castle IF you are near here. I have been to a lot of castles and this one was interesting because of the way it was set-up for fortifications.
Lifts were down but we didn't mind.
Mahdi Dehghan — Google review
The castle is awesome but I do wish they had more English descriptions in the museum at the top. It felt like the focus is more on the restaurant and the museum is just a side thing.
The 14 gates leading up to the castle are very cool too, but same issue with the lack of English descriptions. And I wish we could go inside the towers to see the things they have in there.

This castle is just sublime. If you are in the region you definitely need to go visit it. If you can: go up by foot, the way up is really beautiful and an important part of the experience. We went during the afternoon and we were almost alone.

Well worth the visit. The climb up is ok, but if you're a sedentary person you're better off taking the elevator up. You can walk down, it's a short walk and you get to see all the gatehouses.
If you walk up instead of taking the elevator you can basically visit everything for free.
There's a really nice museum, lots of armor and weapons.
The restaurant upstairs looks to serve good food. Didn't eat anything, but what others were being served looked great.

A very interesting fortress, which did not have its own permanent garrison, but was built purely to protect the population of the surrounding villages in case of any threat. There is a museum inside, but photography is not allowed. Entrance costs 17 euros if you will walk up. If you want to use the elevator, then an additional 10 euros you are to pay. There is a cafe with a tasty menu and reasonable prices in the courtyard of the fortress. The fortress deserves your kind attention

Amazing castle! Very well preserved in the unchanged condition, which is a rare thing. Totally worth a longer visit. A walk to the top is much better than the lift for those who can. Otherwise you miss a lot of beautiful sights and gates.

The 2nd time during summer, weekend this time, I visited the castle and I really enjoyed it and loved it! It's worth visiting but by car or bike. The station is nearby but by feet you will feel exhausted. 😅 I also liked the restaurant that there's in the castle but I would suggest it for a drink rather than food. The castle was great though! Have fun, enjoy and have a power bank with you because you will take a lot of pictures to remember! ❤️

The castle is amazing place even from afar. Unfortunately our arrival date the castle was closed, because before 1 day was a huge storm in Austria and the electricity didn't work in the castle. For us it wasn't a problem, but the castle was not open on that day. Next time we will go inside if it's allowed. We're waiting for the opportunity. I upload some closer and further view of the castle, it's worth to visit, it's beautiful.

Very nice castle, well maintained, unfortunately not much of the inside is accessible to the public. Entrance fee is 17€ + another 10 uf you want to take the elevator up. Otherwise its a 1km long walk up a medium incline to get up to the castle.

Such a lovely castle to visit, giving hundreds of sceneries for great photos and kids loved it. Would be nice if there was a musician in the yard to play some ancient music (hurdy-gurdy etc?), surely for the price of the tickets the Khevenhüller family can afford someone at least on the busier days?
