Absolutely great adventure! Super friendly staff who treat the dogs well. 5 stars and highly recommended !

What a wonderful adventure for the day. A shorter distance to Tromso than many of the others at just <60 mins. Incredible views of the fjord on the way out with an informative local driver. The operation is a smaller family run business and we got close support for the ride. The dogs were so beautiful! Recommend to all.

Amazing experience! Cosmos is a super nice guy, easy to talk with, responsible, cheerful and a great host. He picked up us at Tromsø, driving us through beautiful fiords to the place of the activity.
There's wasn't enough snow the first days of November so we used a car with wheels instead the normal sled.
Cosmos cares a lot about his dogs and maintain this activity for very smalls group. I've done dog sledding before in Russia, but this experience was very different and super fun!
After a long ride, we fed the dogs, played a little bit with them and we were in for some cookies and hot chocolate, before driving us back to Tromsø.
I would advise you doing the dog sled with Cosmos, without any hesitation. No matter your age, you'll have a great time!
Cheers Cosmos and see you next time!

Northern Light Dog Adventure does an exceptionally well dogsledding experience. These guys take pride in providing a small group experience and when we went it was just my wife and I which was great because they were able to personalize the experience to suite us. We took the sleds through all types of different, beautiful and challenging terrain and even took us to create new trails! The dogs seem very well taken care of too. If you enjoy the "real" experience, small groups and don't enjoy the large tourist traps this is the place for you.
James Duszlak — Google review
We had a fantastic time with Thomas and his dogs. It's slightly more expensive than the touristy companies in central tromso, but it's so so much better and worth the extra money. You get a small group (it was just me and my girlfriend when we went) and you visit someone who is so passionate and knowledge about dog sledding. The dogs are all very clearly looked after and we very quickly fell in love with them all. You can see why he keeps 38...! Everything we needed was provided and Thomas was more than happy to take photos of us to keep as memories. Would 100% recommend the musher for a day experience to anyone.

This is a must visit place if you in the area. Thomas and his furry children made the ride smooth and worry free. Amazing views. Everything is well organized, instructions given were clear. Just use common sense, natural balance, control the speed and enjoy the ride.

Highly recommend.
Very personal experience. Not out to put through the most amount of people a day. One group a day, that's it.
Thomas is knowledgeable and tells stories of his dog sled racing days after the trip.
Snacks and drinks provided.
Awesome time.

This is honestly one of my most favorite things we did in Tromsø, the people were so warm and welcoming. The dogs are super excited to get running, and once you are controlling the sled, its an amazing experience! Amazing place and amazing people. Would seriously recommend this to everyone who is in the area.
Dennis Verheul — Google review
Dog sledding at this place was one of the best activities during our trip. It's hosted by father and son whose names I unfortunately don't remember. They are really friendly and funny, gave us instructions on the sledding in the beginning. They have 37 dogs, who couldn't wait to go running, they were very hyped and friendly, we pet them all after the sledding when they calmed down. At the end we went inside to get some refreshments and talked to the hosts a bit. They explained everything about the dog sledding, the racing and their way of life. The dogs are very well cared for. I definitely recommend this fantastic experience!
Simona Zálešáková — Google review
Great experience. The sledding is a lot of fun but challenging. They give all the needed equipment like shoes, overalls and hats for the ride. The dogs are treated very well and are super excited 😊

The ice climbing trip is just a fantastic experience and a must if you are visiting the area. I have done this previously and will be happy to do it again. A big thank you to Ulla and Mikal because you made this a very enjoyable and memorable day last Sunday. Your expertise gave me the confidence and reassurance in the climb.
Also a big thank you to Jem for the tour on the snowmobile. Unfortunately the warm weather made the conditions not ideal but It was still a great day from start to finish.
All of the activities that I have done have been first class but it is the people at Lyngen Adventure that make it so much more.
You guys are the biz.
mark baker — Google review
We booked the ice climbing experience just after New year's and had an incredible outing. At the office in Lyngseidet we were fitted with the necessary equipment and then our group of five was driven to a trailhead where we started our access to the frozen waterfall. The two guides set up topropes (safest way of climbing, no risk of a fall) and then we took turns up the ice. We started in arctic winter dusk/dawn and climbed into the dark before we retreated into a Lavvu (traditional Sami tent) for a fire, soup and traditional local snacks on reindeer hides. The guys not only took care of our safety but gave a lot of insights into the local flora, fauna, culture and other topics of interest. All in all a wonderful trip that we can recommend to any outdoorsy traveller in the Lyngen Alps.
The program offered by Lyngen Adventure far exceeded our expectations.

Wow! What a cool experience. We did the founders tour. I was expecting just an extended tour but the owner was the one who was actually our guide. He did a great job. The history of the location and the story about how they had the idea were great. He was very knowledgeable and respectful. We got to try a bunch of their liquor and the gin was by far one of the best I've ever had. Very unique as well as the whiskeys they had. Very cool business and I would love to go back in a few years once they have grown as a company and see how much better it has become! 6/5 stars!

A must visit to the northern most distillery and taste their award winning gin and their upcominh whisky. What an exquisite place!
Fantastic experience! We booked the half day experience and were not disappointed. Tommy took all the time for us to meet the dogs and learn their names and stories. We were allowed to put on their harnesses ourselves. The children loved it! The dogs were clearly very excited to get going, so off we went. Tommy has a very large area surrounding his house, where he has made several fun circuits. Steering the sled is easy, all you have to do is break and the dogs will go their way following Tommy. It’s so much fun and the power and enthusiasm of the dogs is so impressive!
Afterwards we had all the time to cuddle the dogs, which was now possible because they were not jumping around in excitement. Then we had coffee and tea by a small camp fire, and Tommy told us more. Clearly the well being of the dogs is central, which does not always appear to be the case with other tours we saw. Very highly recommended!!

Just do this! We had a perfect afternoon with Tommy and the dogs. The day turned into the highlight of our trip. Tommy educated the group on care of the dogs, race culture, and ensured everyone was comfortable and had fun driving the scenic landscape. It helped that was also had a gorgeous day with fresh snowfall. We would absolutely do this again (and would love to take our teens next time). Highly recommend!

We had the best time with Tommy and his lovely dogs ! We took the full day trip in the valley and it was even better than expected. Also, Tommy takes time to answer all our questions and talk about his passion. We don't feel like "a number in line", and really, it's one of our best memories of Norway. The price is really good reagarding the time spent and the fact that the trip is only for us. To sum it up : we 100% recommend Team Lyngen

Absolutely fantastic - couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough. We did the half day and it was SO fun. Tommy is brilliant and so knowledgeable (ask him about his dog sledding races!!). This is so special because you get to harness the dogs, learn all about the sled and drive them yourself. There’s the option to sit on Tommy’s sled for the circuits if the driving makes you nervous. The dogs are SO fun and friendly and fast!

We had the most wonderful experience at Team Lyngen. Tommy was super friendly, knowledgeable and clearly very passionate and caring for all the dog. The dogs themselves were amazing, very happy, loving and incredibly strong.
After going out with the dogs, Tommy then took us down to the beach to hopefully catch the northern lights, we were lucky enough to see them and even he let us stay and watch the lights for hours! It was honestly the best part of our trip and a truly unforgettable experience watching the lights around the beautiful landscape. Can’t recommend visiting enough, thank you Tommy for such fantastic time!

If you are thinking about going to tromsø or the surrounding areas and want to do a bit of dog sledging, then this place needs to be on your list!! At the time of writing this, the cost for the activity was 1400rk per Adult and small children where free (my daughters were 10 and 12) you wont find this on any online booking site so you will have to contact Tommy by email, he normally replies pretty quickly. Tommy runs this activity with only a few people at a time, so you really get a personal experience.
Getting there from tromsø:- his farm is about 2.5 hours away from tromsø by car, you can get a ferry to make the journey shorter, but make sure you check the times!
Once you arrive, Tommy will be there to greet you and take you into the barn where you have the option to wear snow boots, snow overalls, and ski gloves. I would suggest wearing it all!! I chose not to wear the boots and regretted my decision, and my feet were freezing!
Once you have suited up, it was time to meet the crew (Dogs). We went into the huskie kennals where he lets them all out to run around. Once they were all out, we helped get them all into the harnesses. Then, it was time to get behind the wheel! (On the sledge). He had 3 sledges out, one for himself that was also for the kids to ride on, and the others for you to drive. We took it in turns, and all got three goes around the 2km track (this was for the half day experience). Once we all had our goes. We headed back to the kennals where the dogs were let off again, and alot more chilled out for pictures and cuddles. Then it was off to the beach! In -11°c! 🤣 but dont worry, the outfits keep you warm and toasty, and you get to sit in a little wooden dugout hut with a nice warm fire over looking the beautiful scenery. Once you are settled in, he puts the kettle on for a nice warm drink (fellow Brits if you want an English breakfast, maybe take one with you). Tommy, if you are reading this, i loved my Earl grey, but us brits do love the standard English breakfast tea 🤣. You then get to hear about all Tommys stories and get to ask questions about the doys or anything else you want to know.
This really made our holiday, and i would definitely go back if im up that way again.
Tommy, you and your dogs were great 100 stars 🌟

The best dog sledding tour ever! I couldn’t recommend more for Tommy‘s tour. He is so friendly and professional and brings us happiness and joy for the whole 5 hours. I always hate doing cliché stuff when travelling like climbing up Eiffel Tower in Paris, but this dog sledding “cliché” activity turns out to be the best thing i have done in Norway.
1. The huskies are very well taken care of, and very cute to play with
2. It’s a family business for small groups so its more interactive
3. Tommy the owner takes time explaining dogs, dog sledding, norwagiens
4. Dog sledding is just so fun if you like waveboarding/ surfing/ skiing.
5. The view is just to die for

Incredible experience with Tommy as the guide. The dogs are well looked after and a part of the family. The sledding was fantastic and Tommy was very informative about the sport and the way of life in Norway. I highly recommend this tour, don't go wasting your money with the larger companies and book direct with the super Team Lyngen

There should be a 10-star option for this place! It was the grand finale of our holidays near Tromsø. And we're so happy that we were able to book quite spontaneously and short notice.
Tommy the host was extremely friendly, and encouraging in teaching us the art of driving a dog sled.
It was a spectacular experience in a spectacular place, all topped off by a fire at the beach with the most magnificent full moon scenary. Thank you Team Lyngen!

funny! coming to Havøysund we expected to be having some bland rustic stew knocked up by some bored chef... instead we ended up fine dining! extremely fancy, pretentious (...and pricey). My husband and i travelled the world, but this was by far the best cerviche we've ever had. To the Danish chef: We salute you!
Unfortunately they were out of Sami craft beer... and it seems every new customer coming in asked for the same, so maybe you want to re-think the amount you order

It helps that we saw the monument on a beautiful, sunny summer's day. The Struve geodetic arc runs to the Black Sea and consists of triangulation points used in the 19th century to calculate the exact size and shape of the earth. The Hurtigruten currently docks very close by - while its usual terminus is being repaired. It is quite hard to find a walking route there through the docks but it is clearly visible from the top deck of the ship.
Judy Holyer — Google review
Interesting monument with explanation in several languages at the foot of the mound it stands on. The monument itself is inscribed in Norwegian and Latin. I knew my school Latin would find a use eventually! There are steps up the mound, but also a wheelchair friendly curved path. Monument is only 300m from Hurtigruten, town centre is a lot further, so this makes a good short walk if your time is limited.

An amazing display of occupation and evacuation hardships in northern Norway in WWII. Everything was burned in the later part of the wat, when German army was retreating. Then followed the Reconstruction, the building of 10,000 or so new homes to bring people back. These were used to 'norwegianise' Finnmark by introducing uniform dwellings, but also brought new designs in furniture and homewares which became popular far beyond the region.
Area around this museum in Hammerfest is full of Reconstruction homes and has a protected architectural status

Worthwhile stop off. There are of course no polar bears in Hammerfest but if in Arctic Norway, please swing by this excellent exhibit and museum and join this Society! Membership is only possible if you sign up in person. You have to stop in and learn about the significance of this to fully understand, but in any case, it was a memorable visit.

Depending on your view, this is either a tacky tourist stop or a great joke - only here can you pay up and become a lifetime member of a society for polar bears in a country that has none! Personally l enjoyed the eclectic taxidermy detailing creatures adapted to the cold environment and, if you only leapt off the Hurtigruten ferry to nip into one quasi-museum/shop, this should be the one.

It is set up to sell you a membership and all sorts of tourist t-shirts - but the small museum is worthy of a gander. Lots of stuffed artic animals. You can pet a polar bear pelt. Photos and descriptions in Norwegian & English of important people of the region as well as life in the Artic.
I enjoyed my visit.

A nice half an hour walk up to the Gorsabrua bridge to experience the scenic landscape. The view is especially great when you're hanging there in the middle of the canyon, adrenaline still pumping from the bungee jump. All of this carried out by this super friendly and professional crew. Definitely worth a try!

A stunning location for bungee jumping.
Everything ran by super friendly and professional individuals.
Oh, and do not hesitate to straight away book the second jump. The first one is such a great experience already. The second one - backflip - incredible and 1000% of pure awesomeness!

Absolutely awesome experience. We visited the place outside the bungee jump hours, so there wasn't that many people around. If you're not into jumping, I recommend visiting some other day when there isn't jumpers around as you can enjoy the views from the bridge in peace. Walk to the bridge is filled with nice views and there is also a fireplace with seats in some point of the trail. Highly recommended! PS. People with fear of heights might feel some anxiety on the bridge as the canyon is really deep :)

The Tirpitz Museum is an impressive historical site that contains a variety of items and models, as well as valuable archive material. The museum offers visitors an opportunity to learn about past events and gain insight into the history of the location. Despite the lessons that can be learned from this piece of history, it's unfortunate that humanity has not yet heeded them. The museum is typically closed during winter months but arrangements can be made for groups visiting during inclement weather conditions.
Visited as part of an organised cruise tour so not exactly sure of its opening hours. If you have an interest then it is definitely worth a visit. Not to far from the area Tirpitz was anchored.

If you have interest in WW2, this is a great place to visit. It could use some additional descriptive text throughout the displays, and some descriptive texts were out of place and difficult to read. But the staff were very helpful, and it was a lovely collection of historical photos, items and models. You'll spend about 90 minutes there if you watch the movie and take your time. It's honestly an unimpressive place from the outside, but you'll find a mine and what appeared to be gas containers used to defend the Tirpitz.
Joe Naftali — Google review
Wonderful museum - would recommend for its informality. You feel immersed in the history.
Ken Reid — Google review
This is a small museum, rather off the beaten path. Provides the story of the short lived battleship Turpitz with video, documents and memorabilia from that time. There are excellent models displayed. The building has seen better days. You can join the Alta museum and Tirpitz on the same ticket.
Warren Burgess — Google review
A piece of history. Something should be learnt from the past but yet mankind has not. It was a mixed feeling to see the photos from the past and then go outside into the sun light and see the same surroundings. Worth to visit.

This place is not recommended if you do not speak Danish. They have a very limited option in languages and no translations in major languages.
There are no texts to read, only Danish and English to listen to, which is not good for translations.
The Alta Museum - World Heritage Center for Rock Carvings is located in Hjemmeluft and showcases exhibits on Sami culture, Finnmark military history, the Alta hydroelectric project, and the aurora borealis. The museum also features an open-air rock carving exhibit that displays around 6000 late Stone Age carvings dating back to 6000-2000 years ago.
A small but no less interesting museum. At the time of our visit, the outdoor aspect of this attraction was inaccessible. We visited during the winter season. However, the displays about the local rock art, the Aurora Borealis, predators and the Sami people were fascinating. We would definitely recommend a visit. The car park is quite small, but there is a frequent bus service well within walking distance.

Nicely organized walking route outside to see the carvings. Also inside the museum there were interesting exhibitions. And a guide book at your own language, I appreciate.😁 Kept thinking that how exciting it must have been when the local children found those first carvings in the seventies...I wonder what was the first one.. maybe the moose pooping😁

The Museum worths a visit. You can visit two areas with rock carvings some of them painted (that's what they used to do in the 90's) and some not painted. They have plenty of explanations in the guide they provide as part of the ticket price which is very informative. You can also visit a permanent and a temporary exhibition inside the museum. The permanent exhibition has lots of interactive stuff to do with students or kids. The cafè area is also very nice and offers wonderful views of the area. We were lucky to visit it in a lovely sunny day.

Alta Church, located in Alta municipality, Finnmark county, is a stunning long church built in 1858. Designed by architect Stephen Henry Thomas, this timber building with 230 seats is the oldest structure in the center of Alta. It serves as a parish church and is consecrated by Bishop Knud Gislesen. The Cathedral Of The Northern Lights, located beside the Scandic Hotel Alta, is a remarkable landmark with a contemporary design both inside and outside. It was opened in 2013 and has become an architectural icon of the north due to its unique pyramid structure covered in undulating titanium sheets. The interior of the cathedral features a striking 4.3m high bronze statue of Christ crafted by Danish artist Peter Brandes, which appears to get lighter as one's gaze moves upwards on the figure.
Loved this tour, very interesting learning how the Cathedral was built, the lady tour guide was very good at explaining why they used titanium for the outside & beautiful wood inside. Really worth a visit.
Heather Horne — Google review
A modern cathedral which should be visited. There is a nominal charge to go into the building which is worth it.
Inside the building is constructed around a central concrete cylinder which rises above you, and externally it resembles the ever moving curtains of the northern lights, hence it's name.
The main space inside is very modern and features Jacob's Ladder rising up into the entrance cylinder, and symbols of the 12 apostles facing the altar.
You can also get a hot drink here, and visit toilets if the cold weather gets you outside.
Leslie Jones — Google review
Most interesting presentation of the Cathedral and it's short history. Fascinating Northern Lights display in the basement. Warm and welcoming on a cold winters day.

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve ever seen in Norway. Extremely gorgeous in the winter and well located in the city. We were lucky to hear mass in Norwegian and it was amazing. A very well designed structure and impressive too.
Alfred Aquino — Google review
We took a tour of the cathedral arranged by our cruise ship. Videos of aurora in the basement and history and construction of the cathedral in the main hall. Titanium is used for the siding as it is maintenance free. The cathedral walls are solid concrete which is not good for sound. So vertical straps are attached to the wall and moveable wooden panels in the ceiling to enable good acoustics for concerts held there.
Keng Leong — Google review
This Lutheran Church (official religion in Norway) presents a very beautiful architectural project, celebrating the the northern lights on the privileged city of Alta.
Fernando Cabral — Google review
Architecturally stunning inside and out and it's not often you can say that about a concrete building clad in titanium. There is a charge to go in and a slightly higher charge to also go to the northern lights exhibition. However it wasn't until I got back on the cruise ship I realised they had charged me the wrong amount snd not given me change. Do check opening hours as it was supposed to be shut according to website but was open . Worth a visit

The church was surrounded by snow made the church looks more peaceful and beautiful!
There are also ice sculptures displayed at the ramps into the church!

Wish one day to come back to enjoy the sound of the organ music playing here!

Cathedral of the Northern Lights (Katedralen i Nordlyset in Norwegian) is a modern, award-winning church located in the city of Alta, Norway. It is famous for its unique design and its large, angular glass façade that is meant to mimic the Northern Lights, which are a common sight in the area.
The Cathedral of the Northern Lights is an impressive and unique building that is worth visiting if you are in the area.

A chatedral is a great museum and an example of aurora in her building shape and elements inside it. Nice inside the church with beautiful examples of things shaped acording to the notheren lights. The best experience is the film in the basement. Worth visiting

The 'Northern Lights Cathedral,' again somewhat interesting ecclesiastical architecture in the North—& contrary to Tromsø's Ishavskatedralen, entry was free (actually, I don't know this, but guy at entrance didn't charge me anything. Bought a coffee, tho, as the rain set in).
From religulous belief to reason & science: UiT Norges Arktiske Universitet right opposite the church via the pedestrian precinct—the funny guy at the church told me on this remark that they have a 'reason & science section' somewhere in the basement, too... I didn't check it out, though.
Thomas Kupka — Google review
The Northern Lights Cathedral was built in 2013 and is a focal point for concerts and local events as well as housing the Lutheran Cathedral. In the basement there is a Northern Lights exhibition that has a photogenic film and the process by which the lights form is described. The church is stunning with a statue of Christ looking up - a symbol of hope for the future. The walls are reminiscent of the lights - but are also designed to improve the acoustics. There is a small cafe and toilets and everything is accessible with lifts. Just outside there is a shopping mall as well as a swimming pool - indoor of course. In Norway all doors are kept shut - so shops and indoor facilities are less obvious than they are in the UK.

Beautiful small cathedral with fantastic construction, shaped to represent the Northern Lights. You can either just visit the church bit for 50 NOK or also go to a small Northern Lights exhibit for an extra 50 NOK, both good value. Impressive 4.5m bronze statue of Christ and a long gilded Jacob's Ladder in the tower.

What a fantastic piece of architecture. This cathedral is one of the best I have seen, inside and out. Outside can be viewed from all around, and makes a pleasant walk. Inside is just stunning. So much goes into one buildings interior. Have only saw it in the snow, which is brilliant. But a trip to see in in the summer is now a must. Highly recommended anyone a visit.

The Alta Canyon is a stunning natural wonder that can be reached by embarking on an approximately 6km hike from a car park located about 5km away along a gravel road. To get there, one should search for Gargia lodge in Google maps rather than the canyon itself as its location is inaccurately marked. The lodge is situated roughly 15 minutes' drive from Alta.
This map location is still wrong as of Dec 2022 despite numerous reports, possibly due to the also wrong location on the official website (visit Norway). Search for “Alta Canyon Trail Head” instead, which is down the road from Gargia Lodge.
Foodprints — Google review
Not here, but if you want to hike there:
Search for "Alta Canyon Trail Head" on google maps. Then you'll find an easy and beautiful 6km (one way so 12km total) leading to a view of the canyon. It's southeast of Gargia, next a dirt road where it's still easy to drive on.

As others have pointed out, the dot is placed incorrectly on Google maps: instead search for Gargia lodge, a drive of about 15 minutes from Alta, from there you can follow a gravel road for about 5km until you reach a car park, there's an easy (slightly rocky) and beautiful 6km hike from there to the canyon.

Not a lot to explore in the museum! Better to spend time outside watching for the birds or the salmons in the river. There is a tourist office to have informations you'll need!

They present themselves as Stabbursnes National Park VISITOR'S CENTRE, but have the audacity to charge an entrance fee.

(Translated by Google) Interesting nature but the last two km that have to be done in the middle of the road with trucks whizzing by is absurd.
Organize your routes better

Natura interessante ma gli ultimi due km che si debbano fare in mezzo alla strada con camion che sfrecciano è assurdo.
Organizzate meglio i percorsi
