Portanova Osijek
Shopping mall
Shopping
Indoor mall with many well-known chain retailers, plus casual dining, a multiplex & bowling alley.
The mall is very big and beautiful!
Great thing about this place is that it has somewhat of a food court unlike the other malls in the city!
Also, there's many stores and outlets!
Son Livan — Google review
It could be a little overwhelming due to the amount of people that visit at the same time.
🏧s sometimes don't work.
Shopping seems weird if you bring a 🛒, nobody uses them inside.
?ilipetar — Google review
Really nice shopping centre with a bowling alley, go karting, restaurants. We have been many times.
Shops like Nike and there is a really good shop in there called portanova with mens and womens clothing at a decent price
Lui Marinovi? — Google review
Honestly it has lots of great clothing stores , a cinema , fast-food restaurants , etc.
And it's usually quite packed with people , so you may have to scavenge for a parking spot for a bit if you're going by car .
Personal favorite clothing stores are Deichmann and New Yorker ( reasonable prices and decent variety of clothing options and footwear ) .
Good place to spend some time shopping or hanging out .

Arcade is a SCAM do not put any money into the claw machines! I had a pink octopus several times and it got released every-time it was grabbed perfectly.
Divus Regnator — Google review
Really nice place for shopping. You can find anything you need. I wish only more tech stores are there but even this was really good.
Ljubi?a Kukulj — Google review
A shopping mall with very little actual things to do. A cinema, a fast food, a bowling alley and that's about it (if you ignore the pleb shopping options).

Portanova have lots of shops , cinestar, disco bowling ,kids zone and bars. Nice place to go.
Hrvoje Moritz — Google review
I love this mall as a tourist. Quiet and very clean. Great variety of stores. Even a great supermarket and post office.
Parking is huge and free.
Coffee, kava, and burger!

Its ok for a small city , and the food hall has only one fast food and a restaurant that was open ,and the ATM it charges high amount of money for cash withdraw.

Great center where you have everything. Staff are helpful. Toilet very cyst. The only thing needed was a children's playroom.
Tomislav Jurcevic — Google review
Best mall i ever seen in Croatia its really nice and it has everything i need for me. The best shop for me in the mall is Müller thats where i go everytime in Croatia its really nice and it has a lot of parking spots. If there was 10 stars it would probably get it from me. 10/5

Neo-Gothic church from 1898, with a 90-meter brick spire, ceiling frescoes & stained glass windows.
Stunning Cathedral right in the centre of Osejek. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. You can still see all bullet holes in the outside of the building

Breath taking Cathedral in Osijek, beautiful to see in the evening when it is lit.

Osijek central 🏙️
The building is beautiful, the history of the cathedral is interesting. 😍
Incredibly monumental, huge building, wonderful.
I really like it. 😊
Inside, there are wonderful paintings, glass, the organ is huge, I was impressed.

It is one of the tallest structures in Croatia, this cathedral is one of the symbols of the city Osijek. Beautiful.
Bianka Faluhelyi — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful Churches I have visited. Situated in the center of the city, one can just walk into and appreciate the old structure.
A river flows behind this Church. It is said that this church was destroyed during a war and then rebuild the same design.
There is a lot of peace surrounded there. the aura is the most positive, birds chirping, a playful fountain is located near by.
there are many stores and eatery around which servers good Croatian delicacies as well, along with good beverage.
Can get good pictures during a sunny day as the sun shines bright on to the church the whole day.
The church is entered via a small door to the right of the main portal, overlooked by a trio of gargoyles. The interior is a treasure trove of neo-Gothic ornamentation, with a succession of pinnacled altars overlooked by exuberant stained glass windows. The interior was finished off in 1938–1942 when leading Croatian painter Mirko Rački covered the walls and ceilings with brightly coloured frescoes illustrating famous episodes from the Old and New Testaments. They will just take you back in those days and make you a part of it.
Simply Astonishing and marvellous.
Sumita Jain Mishra — Google review
One of the most beautiful churches in Croatia, the Co-Cathedral of Osijek. It is located in the center of the city, near Drava river. Tram lines are passing in front of it and it is visible from bridges that are crossing Drava (the most famous one being pedastrian bridge).

Spas & Wellness
Casual hotel featuring a bar, dining & gardens, plus a spa with thermal water & pools.
Friendly staff in picturesque settings highly recommend
Roland Weidl — Google review
The hotel is mediocre, and the 4-star is about 2-star more than it deserves. The building is quite in a bad shape, pieces of the wall came off inside the rooms. The pool was okay, but really nothing special and the bubble bath and all other water amenities were out of order. Spa complex equipped with two working spa-rooms. Dinner is like in a regular school diner, nothing bad, but easy to forget. Breakfast is plenty and fresh. Room service and bar are extremely expensive for a hotel so remote and simple. If looking for time travel, you will survive this place but if you would like to explore the region, you’d better of in a small and well-run B&B or in a newer hotel.
András BÁLINT — Google review
i gave 2 stars as this hotel is closer to a 2 star standard than to the 4 star. it is a time travel: a recently refurbished reception gives you false impression, then as you go deeper the rooms and the wellness area looks like it's from the 90's. the standard rooms are basic and weary. at least the outdoor sauna gives you a treat.
Balázs Turai — Google review
Quiet hotel with its own thermal spa, a decent restaurant with good wine selection, cozy cocktail bar, nice staff. Simple design, comfortable rooms, closed parking place, for moderate prices.
Attila Szilágyi — Google review
Hotel infrastructure need some new investments. The swimming pool and spa are ok. Hotel stuff need to learn some english words.
Darko Milankovic — Google review
Saunas were nice, also the food was enjoyable. However, the rooms and other conditions were quite disappointing..

Good hotel with nice swimming pool. Very tasty food in halfboard. Harkany in the rain are boring place. 2days was enough.

Ok to stay, good staff and food is matter of concern
Siklós Castle, located in Southern Hungary near the Croatian border, is a well-preserved 1200s castle that showcases various architectural styles such as Romanian, Gothic, and Renaissance. Once serving as the seat of an important ruler and later owned by Count Moric Benyovszky, the castle now offers visitors a glimpse into its history through furniture and weaponry exhibits, a wine museum, dungeon, and torture chamber.
It's a great place to learn Hungarian history. We met a black cat, which has its own home next to the wizard's home. All of us got fun here, for my daughter, enjoys the játékváros very much and has funny photos with her toy owl.

One of the most beautiful castles in Hungary or in Europe. Among other sights, there are a prison museum , first and second world war exhibition. Definitely a must visit place at least once in a lifetime.
Gergely Juh?sz — Google review
A cool castle in Southern Hungary, near the Croatian border. The signs and placards were in English, German, and Hungarian.
Overall, the place was fairly well kept up, though some places were under renovation, and it was a pity not to see the rose garden.
Other than that, with a variety of gift shops, coffee shops, and a mini-wine museum and shop, it's a great place to spend a few hours.
Solomon Mengeu — Google review
This medieval castle is maintened well and quite complete (compared to other Hungarian castles). There are not many tourists, so if you don't like the crowded "popular" places, it's a good choice. The castle contains a lovely chapel, a small dungeon, a contemporary exhibition a coffee shop, a small castle garden with herbs.

Vuckoland Vučko (Vuckoland) — Google review
Nice castle with a good piece of Hungarian medival history. The castle is well preserved and maintained. The exhibit in the different rooms is good and very informative, in some rooms you can even try on historical soldiers armor and uniforms (excellent for children). The paintings and wine exhibits are interesting and keep the castle "alive" with people. Recommend a visit.

A beautiful castle, one of the perfect examples of how a castle can be fully used even so many years after its construction. I enjoyed every segment, visual impression, cultural and educational value.
Special praise to the exhibition room of the Croatian minority 🇭🇷❤🇭🇷, which shows the rich past of the Croatian people in this area of Hungary
I hereby praise and thank the organizers for the realization of the "Croatian Room" project in Šikloš Castle 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻,

The cafeteria with the view is nice but the whole castle is not very entertaining or well planned.
Popular, 68-mile park with wooden boardwalks, boat tours plus vast wildlife, birds, flora & fauna.
This nature park is a perfect place to get away from asphalt, concreat and digital world. Unfortunately we came when it is very cold, but still it was nice. With train to boat and then across the lake and back. Staff very friendly and kind.
John Pike — Google review
It is a really exciting place, which is different every day of every season due to the varying water levels of the floodplains. Very rich plant and bird life, excellent visitor facilities and many things to explore.
Elena Kmetova — Google review
Beautiful peacefull nature, you can see birds in their undisturbed habitat, along with turtles, fish... Boatride guides are great, and I love the boats being solar-powered. 1 starr off for all the wooden walkways in the park being closed off "due to maintanance"
Mislav Marku?i? — Google review
Beautiful nature. Perfect for an escape from the city. You can spend a whole day here. You can choose between just walking, riding a bike or simple sitting on the bench. There are some cafés and good restaurants here. Must see if you are in the neighbourhood.
Kornelija Dujmovic — Google review
We went in late March, it was beautiful, you can take a long walk over the wooden walkways, take a tour on an electric boat and also use a small train to get to the boat (great option for very hot days or with very small children). Stunning nature, hundreds of animals to see, including all sorts of birds, frogs, snakes, turtles, even deer.
nina365 — Google review
Great area to visit...probably 5 star in spring as now in autumn not too much to see..the toilet at the boatramp was also closed which is a shame (evidence of that in the park yuk)..i would come again in spring..
Hermien Cook — Google review
The service at the reception and on the boat was excellent. However, walking paths over the fields would need some serious repair. Loud music was overheard from neighboring houses during broad daylight which was annoying as we tried to enjoy nature.

Very nice guided walk + boat tour in an important nature park. A sanctuary for birds and wildlife at the flooded wetland between Danube and Drava rivers

The view is wonderfull , the place is not renovate in the last couple yeat, but just maintain cleaned.
Ticket price 1 adult 1.3 euro.
Very few visitors during week so need to wait 2h if uou like to yake a boat. There is no much to birds to see while walking inside, but most you may see them and water lily if you drive with the car next to the chanel

"Kopački National Park is a nature lover's paradise! The vast wetlands and diverse wildlife create a captivating experience. However, be prepared for mosquitoes and limited facilities. Also it’s good to visit during proper spring. The boat ride (you to buy tickets for that) was average. Recommended for an average adventure in Osijek, Croatia."

Beautiful nature park with etno willage. There is a swamp with a wooden trail made thru. Everything was perfect but mosquitos. Loads of them. But this year is extremely rainy so i can understand the whole mosquito problem. Will recommend this place.

The Frühchristlicher Friedhof von Pécs is a fascinating and memorable sight in Pecs, Hungary. This small guided tour takes approximately one hour and showcases unique early Christian relics. It is an ideal destination for those who appreciate ancient exhibitions, architectural marvels, and historical artifacts. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in exploring the rich heritage of this remarkable cemetery.

(1900 HUF is DISCOUNTED) and we only walked in rooms!!! I don't recommend it, it was boring. The cashiers said we were weird. :(
The tvs video gave more atmosphere than the room, although even it was constantly stuttering in some places and would not start.
The main attraction was a skeleton. You can even see it elsewhere.

(1900 ft a KEDVEZMÉNYES) és csak szobákban mászkáltunk!!! Nem ajánlom unalmas volt. A kasszásak azt mondták furák vagyunk. :(

A fő attrakció egy csontváz volt. Azt még látni máshol is.

(Translated by Google) It is thanks to these burial chambers that the city was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list twenty years ago, one of only 9 Hungarian sites. Here approx. 1,600-year-old buildings can be viewed, which is quite rare in itself. You can learn quite a lot about the late Roman period, the thinking, life and burial customs of the contemporaries, if you pay attention. The exhibition is enriched by video footage, which helps you imagine what you see in its form 1,600 years ago. The survival of the burial chambers and their role in the later history of the city is very interesting, e.g. how much of a role these stone buildings played in the topographic reorganization of the medieval city, in the formation of its religious center, and ultimately in the foundation of the city's survival and historical significance.

Széchenyi tér is the bustling main square of Pecs, surrounded by elegant baroque buildings and offering a perfect spot for observing local life. At its northern end stands the Mosque Church, while the central area is dominated by the striking Trinity Column. The southern part features the exquisite Zsolnay Fountain, adorned with lustrous eosin glaze and four bulls heads, a gift from the Zsolnay factory in 1892.
The Zsolnay Porcelain Museum in Pecs showcases the world-famous handmade ceramics and stonework of the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufacture. The museum is located in the oldest building in Pecs and features six rooms that take visitors on a chronological journey through the manufacturing process. The exhibits include decorative motifs for buildings, figurines, tableware, and tiles. The museum also highlights the technological innovations and Art Nouveau murals of Zsolnay.

Zsolnay Cultural Quarter is an extensive cultural hub in the site of a former 19th-century ceramic factory. It's divided into four main areas catering to craftspeople, families and children, creative pursuits, and university programs. Visitors can stroll down the street of artisan shops or browse through the impressive Gyugi Collection containing over 700 Zsolnay pieces while learning about the history of both the factory and its founding family through exhibitions.

This place should consider a major renovation. Half of the wooden statues outside are missing. The "fountain ⛲" 😬 is dry and the toilets outside are closed. In the main building with museum, the higher you go, the higher the temperature 🔥🥵 so In summer, only for sauna lovers!
The underground part is good though.
🤔 In the cash desk you can buy some ice cream and if you ask them, they have some cold drinks in the fridge too. For me... 3 stars is the maximum.

A fairly small remnant of a bigger castle. The best views are from outside, looking at the courtyard with Renaissance features. If you are in a hurry don't bother going inside, but it only costs 1000ft and the coin exhibition is interesting. It would be nice if you could get up to the roof, but that level was closed.
There is a "mini arboretum" nearby which is worth popping into, and a nice bakery just over the canal/river.

I would say it’s cute. But only that is all I can say. It’s tiny and nothing inside. The ticket is 1000 HUF a bit pricey. So if you are in the area and you’ve got 15 minutes: just go. But otherwise I couldn’t recommend it 🙃

Taken here as part of a Viking River Cruise on shore excursion. Whilst I have only offered 3 stars this is primarily because we are not really church people, if you are then this might well be a 4 or even a 5 star visit.
Especially as on our visit we were guided and given a 20 minute demonstration of the church organ, again extremely good if that's your thing.
Recommended.

A military museum with variety of old technology used in as far back as WWII, with descriptions captioned in English and a tour guide who understands their craft, interesting place for historians, military fans and the average individual. There is sth for everyone, well kept, neat and spacious - outdoorsy.
Worth a visit for sure.

Highly recommended to all ages and abilities.
Paid a visit to this hidden gem a couple of times in the past week. Had a fantastic time. The girls at the reception were polite and efficient taking the time to answer all our questions cause we were new to the establishment.
Love the outside swimming pool layout offering endless fun for all ages. Gorgeous kiddie pools, smashing slide rides, wave 🌊 pool with a huge screen providing funky music, and I could go on...
nice bars and places to eat, ice cream chimney cakes, amazing kolbice delights.
We didn’t try the inside pools and facilities cause the weather was too nice to go inside.
Huge thanks to Krisztina who is a life guard?! Was managing the queue at the top of the water slide, she made us feel safe & secure. She was attentive and strict when needed be but also smiley and kind to all. Liked the fact that she didn’t hesitate telling ppl off for not obeying the rules... after all safety comes first.
Hope to be back again soon.

Very good for the price. Its got just enough options to keep the whole family happy. It's not that busy considering it's 100 years old and been around for a long time. It's not crowded and has plenty of shade to rest under, lots of indoor pools too. I think its not busy because it's off the main road. I'd say that it's a good value, just a little bit off the beaten path nost folks. I only saw one gypsy family, the whole day so that's unusual, but nice.

Great aquapark, at least for the summer, in the winter it could be too small with only a few pools inside. The combination with inside and outside pools is enough to spend a whole day. Several places offer food and drinks and it is not overcrowded.

Such an amazing place, you can easily make a day out of it. Staff were fantastic & very patient as I don't speak hungarian so had to use Google translate. Food was delicious too. Shall definitely be coming back next year with the kids this time though

Nice swimming pools, kids love them. And the 3 slides too. It was clean and comfortable. We went on a pretty busy day but still could get a good spot.
The food corner I didn't like. It's very expensive and not particularly friendly. Next time we will take sandwiches.
Parking is a problem for sure on a busy day. I belive there 's 3+2 invalide parking spots - there are two more at the very entrance. I didn't know that so parked first on the prairie. That was not a fun ride with all the bags and a wheelchair.
Andi De Jonge — Google review
We are returning guests, the staff at the reception is extremely consistent in disappointing us with their lack of hospitality.
Once you get past the reception the place is alright, nothing super fancy though.
Their sauna area is nice I have to give them that, this is also the reason why we are returning again and again. :)
The indoor pools are small so in a busy day you might find yourself waiting for a spot in the jacuzzi for example.
The outdoor pools are better, if it is a sunny day you can have a lovely time in there.
The slides are free of charge but again very busy when the weather is nice, also some of the slides fittings are terrible.

We visited this winery with a guided tour in December 2023!
This place is a very typical traditional Hungarian family winery, with a large variety of good wines, and defenetly worth's a visit!
The owner is very knowledgeable, professional and passionate with his work!
We tried more than 9 different wines, and we were very satisfied with the entire wine tasting experience!
Few of the highlights, were the tasting room (a nice small wooden traditional room with a wood burner in the center)and of course the old underground Hungarian cellar(a more than 100years old Hungarian stone cellar)
Thank you!

We have spent a wonderful day at the winery having a team building. They helped organizing everything… transport from the city, very delicious buffet lunch, Estate Games (winery games for teams) and a very good 6 course tasting event, all in English (because of the English speaking colleagues). We’ve been in good hands by the staff: always smiling and willing to make a memorable event for us. The estate itself is beautiful and well maintained and no need to mention the super quality of the wines produced there. The scene and outlook from the site is something to worth spectate at with a good glass of wine. Would definitely come back during summer time as well.

The Matthias Church is a medieval church located in the Fishermens Bastion district of Budapest. The church has undergone several rebuilds and renovations, most notably between 1874 and 1896 when it was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style by Frigyes Schulek. The church features brightly coloured tiles on its roof, intricate painted interiors, and architectural splendor.
An amazing place, and an even better view from the top of the tower! Entrance tickets are purchased at the box office across from the church, there are several tours a day. There are 197 steps to the top and you go with a guide who speaks in English and the local language. Also, there are many seating areas around the church where you can enjoy the beautiful view. Don't miss out if you're in Budapest!

A truly unique church in Europe. Not too grand, but also not small. The church is beautifully decorated with patterns usually not seen in other churches. Very hard to believe that this was once a mosque. Exterior tower is nice. Went for a High Mass service to get the full effect of the worship space - truly stunning. As a tech geek, I was impressed to see a transparent screen used to display the words to the hymns, readings, and sermons. Don’t forget to visit the side chapels.
Great surroundings as well, a must for tourists.

Tickets for entry are across the plaza, with an optional extra ticket for going up the tower (around 300 steps).
Architecturally aesthetic church that’s worth a visit if you’re religious or just want a quick sightsee. It takes about 30 minutes to see everything inside and while the displays show more about the history of the church, it’s all pretty similar to other touristy churches, so it can be boring for some.

Wow, what an amazing church and in a beautiful area too . I came to Budapest specifically to visit St Stephens Basilica and left totally confused .There are so many lovely churches here, and this one is right up there .
The beautiful roof reminded me of St Stephens Cathedral in Vienna and inside just got even more beautiful .
It may be me being not very travelled and a bit thick but this must be a one off . It is stunning and I left awestruck .
I was lucky enough to be treated to a very talented young man playing a beautiful piece on the organ . He was great a real star in my opinion .
Personally I loved the pulpit and a sort of telescopic Lamb of God window it was great .

Will give place a 4.5.
One of the most popular places in Budapest. Go early as it gets crowded with bus loads of visitors by 10am.
Photo opportunities are aplenty outside but wait till you walk through the entrance. The interior is magnificent. One of the most well decorated we have ever visited.
The tour inside is also well routed and planned by the management. 👏. There was only a small crowd inside and our cameras never stopped snapping. 😂
The relics and displays were awesome and colourful.
Entrance to Matthias is 2900 HUF/adult. Super reasonable and really worth the effort.
To get here, there’s a steep climb up some well paved walkway. For those who are physically challenged, there is a bus to go up. Right to the door steps, literally.
Don’t miss this place if you are in Budapest.

The most beautiful church in Hungary, they say. And one of the most beautiful I've ever visited, and trust me I've seen a few and the best around Europe! Easily beats some very heavy names out there! Very warmly decorated, really good vibes, the balconies and the upper level tour a super plus! Stunning to say the least.

Spectacularly well maintained church.
If you’re lucky, there will be live music when you are visiting and you get to enjoy the amazing acoustics of the building.
This is in a very well visited part of budapest so if you want to get a private moment alone, you will want to come early before the crowds show up. Afternoons are not recommended for this reason.
Set aside an hour so you can do justice to this church.

Matthias Church in Budapest is a true masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Its awe-inspiring facade, adorned with intricate details, captivates from afar. Once inside, the interior's grandeur and historic significance unfold. The vibrant stained glass windows and ornate decorations transport visitors to another era. Ascending the tower rewards with panoramic views of the city. The church's role in Hungarian history adds depth to the visit. While its exterior is a marvel, the interior's spiritual ambiance and historical resonance make Matthias Church a must-see, embodying Budapest's cultural and architectural splendor.

A great part of Hungary, was very peaceful and quiet here. You can pay a small price to go in to the church and have a look around which I would recommend due to the beautiful architecture. You can pay a small price and climb the tower which I would recommend, you may struggle this if you are older and scared of heights. I think it is 197 steps tall with fantastic views all over Budapest.

Amazing church built in Gothic fashion. It is more beautiful from the inside, and has very unique architecture and design. The small fee you pay to visit the inside is worth the experience. We have been here in January 2024. It’s so sensational! The Matthias Church is located on Trinity Square in the Castle District on the Buda side of the city in the Fishermen's Bastion section. The Matthias Church - officially the Church of Our Lady (Nagyboldogasszony-templom) - was the first church on the Schlossberg. It is also registered as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. I can highly recommend a tour here!

We went when it was raining which made the tile roof look especially attractive. The outside of the church is right next to Fisherman’s Bastion. The inside has a lot to offer. Multiple levels, amazing stained glass and relics from the church’s past. It also has a great gift shop that sells umbrellas so being as we didn’t have any it was a little miracle they did!

Background:
It was built in 1015, original name was The Church of Mary/The Church of Our Lady, destroyed/reconstructed many times and two kings of Hungary were crowned here.
I can review only the exterior of the church, since my 48hrs. Budapest Card is not acceptable for the moment.
A lot of tourists like me queueing the line just to get inside.
Some of them, just want to see the church especially the colored tile roof.
The updated church is styled and restored in Neo-Gothic.
Recommendable to visit this place and if you have an extra pocket, better to see inside the church.

Our visit to Matthias Church in Buda was truly captivating. The church's stunning architecture, adorned with beautiful colors, seamlessly weaves together the history of the church and Budapest, creating a rich narrative.
Ascending the tower was a highlight, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Budapest. While the view was amazing, it's worth noting that there's no elevator, requiring visitors to ascend by stairs. The effort is rewarded with an unparalleled perspective of the city.
Exploring the intricate designs and colors of the church's roof added another layer of appreciation. Matthias Church is undoubtedly a must-visit in the Castle District and Buda, providing a memorable blend of history, art, and panoramic beauty.

An absolute spectacle to feast your eyes with. It is easy to reach the temple with bus and it absolutely worth to see .The church takes you to different era makes you feel like you are in the Medieval ages the architecture the paintings . A trully fascinating spectacle which words cant describe. The ticket to enter is about 15€ for adults although it is open until seven o'clock. There are several subsection to explore and read about the history and the role it served shaping the history of the Hungarian nation. It is easily in top 5 places to visit in Budapest !
The Fisherman's Bastion is a beautiful fortress with lookout towers that offers panoramic views of the city. It was built in Roman style in 1895 and was damaged during World War II, but has since been restored.
This place was stunning! If you are a fan of architecture or Harry Potter this was something magical! This is a really pretty place to visit, it does feel a little like a fairytale as there's quite a number of spires. You can visit the church as well as the bastion itself. Nonetheless, its picturesque views offer great photo opportunities and is not one to miss if you like that.

The architecture of this landmark is truly stunning. It takes you back to the monarchic times. It provides probably one of the best views of the city. Amazing place, beautiful architecture. Fisherman's Bastion you can visit all for free. No charges. A great view of river Danube and Budapest is given from here. Nearby are good eating joints, places for coffee, you can spend whole day here.
You will enjoy in every corner of this beautiful Bastion.
Prepare your phones and cameras!

Absolutely stunning location, the highlight of our visit to Budapest. Most of the site is free, but for a small fee you can walk along the ramparts and take pictures away from the bulk of the crowds, which I would definitely recommend. The view is also lovely but the architecture is truly spectacular and it was hard to tear myself away from it!

Free to enter, only few places in tower for fee. Very nice to chill out, an good view from the top. But better to get there in early morning or in the evening special in summer. It wad hot and not comfortable.

Beautiful architecture and high vantage points for some of the best panoramic views of Budapest and the Danube river. Entry is free but fairly crowded depending on when you go - best views would be during sunrise (with the fewest tourists) or sunset.
The Fisherman’s Bastion is one of the must-see sights when in Budapest so I would highly recommend it.

Awesome place in Budapest. We went here during sunrise and you can see beautiful sunrise here. There will be less crowd in the early morning. Place is open all the times. Its nice architecture. Place is very near to Mattias church and very relaxing and peaceful

Beautiful place in Budapest.
Fisherman's Bastion is located at height. You can go by stairs. Or take the funicular from the starting point.
After a bit of trek you will arrive at beautiful landmark. From where you can have completed view of the city overlooking Danube river.
Architecture is at its best at this place.
Must visit if you love to see old buildings and get connected with ancient times.
Strongly recommend 👍👌

Such a beautiful place with a lovely lookout over this city and clearly the best picture spot in town as there were so many people there taking photos. But the whole place reminded me of Hogwarts. I just loved being there. Get a coffee or a chimney cake and just enjoy it.

This place is really lovely, the architecture is great. It has a great view of the pest side. Lots of people during the day but if you go there earlier, it’s really a different vibe and feel. You can appreciate the place more.
There’s also a fee if you want to reach the highest wall in Fisherman’s Bastion. Tickets can be bought online or on site.

One of the most incredible views I have ever seen, the building and surroundings are astonishing, and the views of Budapest itself just wow!! It is a MUST visit for anyone!! Make sure to leave plenty of time to visit this place so you can view from every point of it and see every single bit of detail on the buildings. No other words than WOW!!! I'll be back again for sure!!! What a fantastic experience! And a beautiful day to top it off..

Not to miss: this the place, which you do not want to miss when visiting Budapest...it's very high on the hill with lots of stairs, if you search on Google maps it's recommends you to take stairs, and not many people are aware but a bus goes up to the Bastion...and it drops you right at the spot..no need to take single stairs. It's such a beautiful place with a mesmerizing view over the City Budapest...I would highly recommend to go there...it's an experience to be there...:)

The place provides beautiful opportunity to see Budapest and sun will paint the sky and makes amazing atmosphere.
I don’t know why, but no tickets were needed.

If you can visit in the late afternoon and stay until the early evening, you can get a nice view from here at sunset. I opted to walk up from the Chain Bridge because the weather was nice and I wanted to see all of the autumn colors as I hiked up to Castle Hill.

The castle and fisherman’s bastion is right beside one another - It’s a visitors main attraction spot, but I most say extremely hassle free. I’ve travelled a lot, and most tourist attractions have creepy men trying to sell you items, or stick tacky bracelets on your arm then ask for money. Here none of that happens at all. You can walk around freely which is nice. Which should be the Norm to do anyways - but I found it good. Not too overwhelming (again this might depend on the time you go). February not that busy, and in the evenings very quiet. My apartment was close by, the views are spectacular. The downside you’ll see just LOADS AND LOADS of phones all over the place, in your face, in your space 😂 when are we ever gonna live in the moment 🤷♀️ you can see Budapest city from here. Look it’s definitely nice to see, to get into this little castle you’ve to pay a fee but you’re basically paying to see all these “travel bloggers and insta” people taken up the entire balconies 🫡

Very pretty. Shops locally and very expensive chimney pastry stalls €10 for one 😳). Can use scooters up here but check parking as we had to walk all the way back down to find parking or lose minutes. Restaurants up top. Areas to visit have to pay for them all about €3. Great views of the city.

Beautiful architecture, it is honestly impressive even more so during a sunny day! Reaching the bastion is quite easy by foot. However, as it stands on a hill, it can be quite steep at times (there are a lot of stairs, too!). It does have good bus connections (bus no.16 takes you straight to the main square).
I would recommend going to the bastion not only for the amazing view of Budapest but also for the tour of the underground caves as it's really interesting!

We visited during the day, dusk, and night, and each time was amazing.
There’s something truly special about this place; it feels very magical. The views are stunning too.
My favorite time was 7 pm, just as the sun was setting (in April), as there weren’t many people around, and it was beautiful. It’s lovely during the day as well, but it can get crowded, so if you prefer fewer people, evening and nighttime are better.
It’s really worth seeing at different times of the day as it makes Budapest look even prettier.

This is very popular place in city and one can get a good panoramic view of pest side. This place has a small park, where you can just sit and relax.
Opt to come bit early in time while the day starts (before 9AM) to beat the crowd and get good photograph for memories.
The Szechenyi Chain Bridge is a beautiful, historic bridge that spans the River Danube linking Buda with Pest. It was designed by William Tierney Clark and built by Scottish engineer Adam Clark, and it remains an iconic symbol of bringing people together. The bridge is particularly striking at night when it is illuminated withThousands of lightbulbs.
Yes, this architectural jewel is just as majestic as you have heard. The unique bridge that connects Buda and Pest is a must for photos and walks. The feeling of walking on something like that is amazing. Of course, don't forget to see it at night. It's great!

This bridge has a very good presence connecting between two important pieces of land with its lions guarding its entrance and exit reflecting the power of good art that may take you to another level of amazement.

For me this is the most beautiful bridge I have ever seen.
I’ve seen it by day and by night and I can say it was well taken care of it. I think the paint on the metalic parts was recently renewed.
The sculptures on it are nice, the lions that guard it at both ends are also giving a nice vibe. Also, when you go by boat under it is an interesting sensation.
A very nice landmark I could say.

My experience on Széchenyi Chain Bridge was nothing short of extraordinary. Its timeless beauty combined with its historical importance make it a must-visit attraction in Budapest. Whether you are strolling across it during daylight or admiring its illuminated splendor at night, this bridge will leave you with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for human ingenuity.
First and foremost, the bridge's design is truly breathtaking. The grandeur of its stone lions guarding each end and the intricate iron chains that hold it together are a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of its creators. Walking across this bridge feels like stepping back in time to an era when attention to detail and beauty were paramount

One of the iconic bridges in Europe, opened in November 1949. It is a chain suspension bridge and a monument that evokes Hungarian nationalist feeling of the mid-19th century and to Hungary's recovery from the destruction of the Second World War. A landmark, easily recognizable both day and night

The Shoes on the Danube Bank memorial commemorates the 3,500 people who were brutally murdered by Arrow Cross Party members during WWII. The bronze shoes that are scattered about the riverbank just a short distance away from the Hungarian Parliament Building make for a moving sight.
A very historical surreal experience. And it was lovely to walk down the whole Danube promenade where there are plenty of other statues too!
There are not scripts to tell you the story behind the shoes if you don’t already know. So googling the history is advised

Nice location. Interesting story behind the shoes. Detailed metal work when looking at the shoes. This is a nice place to visit if you're local or a tourist. The views along the river bank are great and there is some amazing architecture! Worth a visit if you are ever in Budapest. Located right next to the parliament building.

To get there you need to walk right on the edge of the river. We were there after a few days with heavy rain, which made it muddy 🤷🏻♀️ as there is no real pavement. Hope that in time they will build the beautiful promenade.
The memorial itself was heavily decorated with candles, flowers and traditional jewish materials. It is a beautiful memorial, sad, melancholic.
Would benefit from some lighting at night.

Heartbreaking- you can feel the terror and imagine the brutality. It is unimaginable how cruel and barbaric the Nazis and the eager evil Hungarian Iron Cross were, but this exhibit reminds us. Had my grandfather not left Budapest in 1921, our family would have surely been murdered as well.

The imposing St. Stephen's Basilica, built from 1851 to 1905, offers spectacular views of Budapest from its cupola. The building was damaged during World War II, but fortunately most of the mosaics that decorated its walls were saved. This popular attraction is dedicated to Hungary's holy king and the founder of the Hungarian state St. Stephen.
This is very beautiful basilica in center of town. It is one of the postcard image place of Budapest. There is no charge to see the Basilica, it is free of charge but you should give some donation. St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest is a magnificent architectural gem that left me in awe. The basilica's imposing dome, reaching a height of 96 meters, dominates the city's skyline and offers a visual treat for visitors. As I stepped inside, the grandeur of the interior took my breath away. The ornate decorations, intricate carvings, and stunning stained glass windows created a serene and majestic atmosphere.
One of the highlights of my visit was the chance to view the basilica's most precious relic, the mummified right hand of St. Stephen himself, the first king of Hungary. This sacred relic is housed in a beautifully adorned reliquary, and its significance adds a spiritual touch to the basilica's historical importance.
Climbing to the top of the dome was an unforgettable experience. The panoramic views of Budapest from the observation deck were simply breathtaking. I marveled at the stunning architecture of the city, with its iconic landmarks and the sweeping Danube River.
Exploring the basilica's interior was a captivating journey. The intricate details of the statues, altars, and frescoes were a testament to the skill and artistry of the craftsmen. I enjoyed wandering through the various chapels, admiring the beautiful artwork and feeling a sense of peace and tranquility.
Overall, my visit to St. Stephen's Basilica was an absolute delight. The impressive dome, the sacred relic, the awe-inspiring views, and the opportunity to explore its magnificent interior made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend adding this architectural masterpiece to your itinerary when visiting Budapest.

ST. STEPHEN'S BASILICA
It is named in honor of Stephen, the first King of Hungary (c. 975–1038), whose right hand is preserved in the reliquary. The basilica features a Greek cross ground plan. While we didn't visit the interior of the church, we purchased tickets from the ticket office located across from the right side of the church and ascended to the exterior balcony encircling the church's dome, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding city. The steps to reach there are quite a few, but the experience is truly rewarding, especially as you reach the vast area beneath the external dome, where you can glimpse the interior dome of the church.

Such a stunning building. The ticket office is just off to the side. Expect to queue to buy your ticket. We bought the combined ticket which I recommend so you can get the fantastic views from the top. There are lifts to each part but you will have to climb a few stairs regardless. One of the most interesting things was St Stephen's hand kept in a case.

For sure, it is one of the most impressive buildings in Budapest and Europe. The outside is beautifully lightened during the night, and the details of its facade can be viewed during the daytime. In December, you'll also have the chance to visit one of Europe's most astonishing Christmas markets here. The inside is also a strong recommendation for all tourists. Usually, prices and waiting times are okay if you're not visiting during prime season.

Beautiful by day, beautiful by night. It's well worth paying to see the panoramic view, especially the sunset.
To go up, you have the option of a lift (there are two - with a long queue) and stairs. Be aware that there are a LOT of stairs and spiral staircases. Be prepared 🏋🏻♀️

One of the Budapest must visits. Come early as it's very busy here. I suggest getting the rooftop combo package.
A striking basilica from outside, it's a great photo opportunity. Inside is mind blowing. Such beautiful and reverence. A true blessing to the almighty creator.
There are roped off spots for quiet prayer and reflection. Please take your hat off indoors. A group of Chinese tourists unfortunately showed a lack of respect by refusing to do so.
The treasure room is interesting with luxurious and historical relics from previous bishops.
The rooftop had great views on rainy or sunny days. It's worth the extra effort. You can take the lazy elevator or take the stairs like I did.
Combined ticket is 3500HUF or free for teachers

What an beautiful Basilica! We purchased tickets to hear Ave Maria and the acoustics were excellent. Take the time to wander around inside and see the art and altars. Indeed, a treat for the eyes. St Istvan’s (Stephen’s) Basilica is one of the best architectures of Budapest. Although we didn’t get a chance to enter inside Basilica, we were delighted by the minute details of the arts engraved on the exterior walls.
I am looking forward to visit the church again so that I can get a chance to enter and enjoy the panoramic view of Budapest from its terrace.

It's not a place to pray for free. The Basilica and its grandeur come with a price: 6,000 HUF. The church hall at a lower fee is worth the money, I think, unless you want to see the surrounding view at the top. The Treasury is composed of very ornate robes, monstrances, and paintings. Going down the spiral steps is not for the faint-hearted or weak knees. 4-man lift is available, but the queue is long. The view at the top of the dome is breathtaking. However, there's no need to pay this extra fee if you've already gone on the Budapest Eye. The church hall is impressive and quite popular with weddings. Its decor is breathtaking, and as with all Basilicas, it gives you that feeling that God actually resides there. If you want to light a candle, make sure you have the right coins as the paying boxes do not provide other methods of payment.

Spectacular church, opulent from every angle. It is certainly worth a visit while in Budapest. The treasury is a little disappointing as it's very small..the view from the tower is impressive. Expect to take some 145 steps. However there is a lift (and toilets mid way up).

I didn’t personally take the stairs all the way up to see the view but the inside was something I can admire all day long. Pay for that ticket and get in! ♥️
The Hungarian Parliament Building is an iconic landmark in Budapest and one of the oldest in Europe. It is home to the National Assembly of Hungary, and is one of the largest buildings in the whole of the country. The building is decorated with lavish Gothic Revival-style decorations and features a spectacular dome.
This is a truly beautiful Building, I can only imagine all the important history that this place has had. The grounds are fantastic and provide some breathtaking views. In my opinion the parliament building really comes to life in the night. I would also recommend taking an evening river cruise to see it at its full beauty.

Wonderful architecture in Europe! It is Budapest's most recognizable building. From every angle, it appeared magnificent. Stunning location with trees, gardens, and of course historical landmarks. The architecture is huge and quite detailed. Stunning view of the entire building. Although I was unable to enter, I was able to appreciate it from the outside.

This is one of the largest parliament buildings in the world as the Hungarians saw Westminster and wanted to make their own version but slightly larger and I believe it is actually bigger than Westminster by about 20 feet. I recommend seeing it at night though from a boat ride when it's lit up. It's really beautiful.

This is a very impressive building, outside and inside. I was really looking forward to visiting it. However, only a few sections are open to the public, and that was disappointing considering how big this place is. You are not allowed to take pictures of where the crown is, but the room is astonishing. Guides are very nice and knowledgeable. If you have a European passport, the entrance is about £12. If you don't, I think it's twice as that.

Building is beautiful no matter which angle you see. The best time to visit is in the morning and late evening especially from the boat. You can also visit it from inside but only with the tour which lasts about 45minutes. Tour is organized in different language but needs to booked in advance if for English.

The Hungarian Parliament Building is an architectural masterpiece. Its grandeur and beauty are truly awe-inspiring. The intricate details and stunning design make it a must-visit landmark in Budapest.
The parliament building is truly stunning. I highly recommend taking a riverside walk to fully appreciate this spectacular landmark.
The nighttime view is absolutely stunning, especially when experienced through a boat trip.

One must book his/her ticket beforehand. It was my case but all tickets were sold out for spontaneous visitors. The visit is very nice but too short (in my opinion). Nonetheless, I was still grateful to have this opportunity to discover this important democratic place in Hungary.
Very famous and you immediately understand why.

Omg. One if the gorgeous buildings that I have ever seen before. This building is so perfect inside and out and during daytime and nighttime. You need to make a reservation to go inside and the normal price for an adult is 6400 ft but its worth it. You should definitely visit this place when you come to Budapest.

Stunning building, especially pretty at night when it lights up. I took a boat tour along the river and would reccomend it to see the sights along the riverside. Didn’t go inside but the outside is a stop that’s totally worth it in Budapest. Seagulls flying on top at night look like beautiful twinkling lights, magical!!

Very beautiful and magnificent structure.
We booked a English guided tour of the Hungarian Parliament Building which lasted for about an hour and half.
The tour was amazing and you get to know some interesting facts about the parliament building and Hungary history. This is really a must to go destination for Budapest.
Here are a few tips to know before you plan your trip for the Hungarian Parliament -
Try to book the tickets online from their official website well in advance (2-3 weeks in advance) since the tickets get sold out very quickly. For e tickets, you need to exchange your e tickets with the physical tickets.
Chances of getting a ticket on the spot from the ticket counter is very difficult. However, if you want to try, reach the ticket counter around 8 am in the morning (it's opening time) and you might get a few tickets for the day.
The ticket counter does not sell advance tickets. They only sell tickets available for that day only. Use online booking as much as possible and plan weeks in advance.
This will be a audio guided tour where in you receive a radio and a headphone. The tour is available in multiple European languages including English.
Please Note - You can buy the tickets with any language available for a time slot, once you enter inside, once you get the audio guided machine, you have the option to select the language of your choice. Thus contradicting the entire idea of slots based on languages.
Last but not the least, the tour is amazing.

It’s one of the must see places for sightseeing in Budapest. You can get great pictures from different perspectives. In my opinion, you should also see it with the amazing lights at night! Moreover, you can get a better view of pictures on the background of Parliament Building on the other side of the river.

One of the most amazing and gorgeous buildings I have been so far in Europe. Not just the parliament building, everything near by is making it better. River, beautifully lighted bridges and trams. It’s definitely an experience when you visit during Xmas. Must see for tourists!

Budapest most famous building. Huge and amazing Parliament with a stunning architecture. Unfortunately we were unable to get inside, therefore I recommend buying tickets online well before you decide to visit the Parliament. Worth a visit and definitely you can take some amazing pictures here.

One of the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen. It is the third biggest Parliament house in the world and one of the most beautiful parliaments according to me.
Once you go inside there are some guided tours (approximately 45 minutes) that can provide you with useful information about the parliament and history. They are offered in many languages including English, German, Spanish, Italian, etc. It's good value for money at around 10 Euro.
Certainly it looks much better from outside it's massive and very photogenic. The area around it is very well designed & landscaped.
It’s very symmetrical and gigantic. You can not miss the sight from almost anywhere around the Danube from many kilometers. The inside view of this beautiful monstrous building is equally incredible. If you are in Budapest a visit is really a must. The night view from a far distance looks like a royal gigantic palace with a beautiful reflection in the pristine waters of Danube.

Visiting the Orszaghaz Building in Budapest is an experience that should not be missed. Its stunning architecture, rich history, and cultural significance make it an essential stop for any traveler seeking to immerse themselves in Hungary's past and present.
The main hall features a magnificent staircase that leads to various chambers and rooms filled with historical artifacts and artwork. The attention to detail in every room is remarkable, from the beautifully painted ceilings to the exquisite furniture.

A spectacular sight and must see on an any visit. Highly recommended the tour where they take you around the parliament and you are given an audio guide to follow. You get to see the grand staircase and the guarded crown of Hungary. You also visit one of the legislative chambers. On the tour you get to learn about the history and design of the building and its influence. Recommend visiting inside and out. Lit up fabulously as night.

I’m obsessed with this building. Truly emblematic of the beauty and history in Budapest. Beautiful at day, sparkling at night. The tour is fantastic too. The room with the crown jewels is the real highlight! make sure you book your tour tickets in advance.

Absolutely amazing. The view during the night is even better. Looks better from the other side of Danube river.
Pride of Hungary and main attraction of Tourists.

Beautiful building with a very interesting story. You get to see many different sections, like the big dome room with the crown juvels, the golden stair case and the voting hall. Guide and audio guide was very friendly and competent. Well worth a visit, book well ahead of time.

This building is one of the most iconic sites in Hungary and, if you're not planning on going inside, I'd highly recommend coming at night (before 11PM). The parliament building is most beautiful when lit up at night. The banks of the Danube at night is beautiful and filled with many romantic couples walking and sitting on benches. I'd highly recommend going for a stroll at night.

This is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world, and for good reason. We had a guided tour here and were at times astonished with the excellence in workmanship that went into this building. If you love architecture, this is indeed a place to visit. Tickets should be booked well in advance, or you will simply miss out. It is that popular. There is also a tram passing around the building, and we found it easy to travel there. The parliament, furthermore, has a good souvenir shop, but a bit pricey. Do visit it, there are a few unique items to purchase. Should you happen to visit Budapest, this is definitely a must visit.

If you are visiting Budapest you can not miss the guided tour of this impressive building. Be sure to book the ticket in advance on the Lonely Planet guide suggested site, you can save 10€! We spent 17€ instead of 27€ of the official site. The ONE HOUR (with audioguide) tour will lead you throw the most beautiful rooms of the building, you will be impressed by the gold and rich decorations.

Beautiful on the outside and inside. I would highly recommend getting tickets weeks in advance. I tried getting tickets one week in advance and they were sold out but I was fortunate enough to book a tour that included the parliament tour. There are a bit of stairs but if you can’t walk up the several flights you can request to use the elevator. You can take pictures except when you enter the room to see the crown. You do need to retain your ticket for your entire tour as you need it it exit the tour.
The House of Terror is a museum in Hungary documenting the effect of Nazi and Soviet regimes on Hungary and the victims. It includes a permanent exhibit about crimes and atrocities committed by both regimes.
Moving, superbly setup museum on a tough topic.
Small museum but extremely well setup for visitors with audio guides in most languages that automatically trigger as you enter a given room. This was a killer feature that made the visit even more easy to traverse.
Extremely inexpensive and well maintained. Man’s inhumanity to man is well documented and movingly portrayed.
I wish every museum was so well setup. One can spend 3 hours at the museum easily to do it justice.

Very easy to find, nice and quiet place. Tickets cost 3000 per person,if you are EU citizen younger than 26 you get some discounts.
They will tell you to not take any pictures, and they try to monitor that very well, not all of them succeed 😊
Anyways good experience, well worth the money.

This museum is absolutely critical to educate both Hungarians and tourists on the horrors of communism and totalitarianism in the country.
The stories, images and artifacts remind us all the value of democracy and how fragile it is, and the high cost we all pay when we lose it.
My rating was mostly due to the lack of opportunity to present a more forceful and impactful message, most messages were in the form of videos with Hungarian audio, poor or no English signage made the message dissipate.
I hope it is remodeled to create a better impact and easier for the international audience to absorb.

Visited the museum on March 15 which the museum offers free entrance. There was a long line but it went by pretty fast.
The exhibition is mostly in hungarian but they do have English subtitles and english notes available.
It was interesting 4 floors exhibitions worth the shot to visit.

Great experience in here! A little creepy but really well made, you can learn a lot more about the dark pages of Hungarian history and feel a real contact with those times... Really recommended! Not good for impressionable people though

My 10 year old son, and I visited. We did the audio tour which was a bit too detailed and long-winded. We skipped some of the sections, but it was still very informative. The best part is at the end in the basement. We checked our backpacks in the luggage storage, and it worked very well.
Karolina Wintermann — Google review
Me and my brother (USA, 18 and 19) spent 2.5 hours here. We did not get the audio guide. Like other reviews - the staff is at the very least NOT friendly. It cost us $23.49 USD for 2 of us - full price tickets (they do not have student discounts for students with citizenship outside the EU area). Almost everything is written in Hungarian, so consider the audio guide IF 1. you have more time or 2. You really like learning /history. There was enough details for us from the many many videos with English subtitles and the one pager descriptions in about half of the rooms. Overall we learned about a side of history barely taught in American classrooms and so I find this to be a MUST VISIT, even with all the negatives. We came in at 10:10 and had to wait 10 minutes in a line to buy tickets. When we exited around 12:45 there was a pretty long line stretching outside the building (probably 20-30 minute wait).

Its difficult to describe a visit to this museum as enjoyable given its focus. But, if you want to learn about the recent history of Hungary, this is a good place to start. We took the audio guide as we were unsure how much would be in English. Turned out that there are A4 sized cards on the wall in each exhibit/room in English you can take out and read. We still enjoyed having the audio guide. My teenager particularly found this museum fascinating. She listened to every bit of the audio guide and read absolutely every piece of information in here she could find. We spent several hours here having a break for lunch. Even if you haven't much time, a walk round over an hour or so will give you a good taste of what is in this museum & if you are an English speaker, the A4 info cards will be sufficient for you to grasp each exhibit. Some of the old videos displayed recounting this time period are harrowing & a sobering reminder of such recent history.

A good first stop to a trip to Budapest as it helps you understand what Hungary went through and how it relates to some of the other common tourist attractions.
The audio guide is a must for English speakers, without it you only have paper pamphlets in certain rooms.
I took off a star because of the whole set up. The music was way too intense in one of the first rooms while I was trying to watch the video. The interviews on the wall are also a bit confusing, one would play and then it switches to another screen and then back.
Barry Allen — Google review
Not a very enjoyable museum due to the nature of its content but a must visit in order to understand and learn form one of the darkest periods of our time. The exhibitions are very well curated, the atmosphere of each room really takes you into the topic they are showing. The rooms are impresione and also very interactive. I would recommend to go early in the day to avoid the many visitors it gets and to buy the audioguide.
A H — Google review
First of all the reason I'm knocking a star off is because the staff are so unfriendly and you aren't supposed to take pictures.. I have no idea why that would be though. Otherwise, it's good value for money, educational, and a really interesting place.
Christian Hoffman — Google review
A decent place to go if you have an extra day at Budapest. Don't reserve your day specially for visiting this.
It is about the history of world war but feels like it's just one side of story (which is totally understandable).
The audio guide is recommended, and the entry fee is 10 Euro. It takes around 1.5 hour for the full tour.
Taking pictures inside is not allowed.

When visiting Budapest, the House of Terror should definitely be visited and enriches the city trip. In general, this museum shows the time of Budapest/Hungary under National Socialism and the time under Communism. The museum illustrates well how two very different political directions nevertheless intersect in their cruelty. Admission is fine. I would really recommend an audio guide, as there is a lot of information in it and it can be relatively uninteresting without one. I would also recommend visiting at weekends when there are no school groups. There are lockers in the museum for storing valuables. Inside it was very very humid and warm - I would take water with me.
Martin — Google review
I give only 3 stars because the real goldmine of information, documents, images and exhibits is very, very badly organised.
The itinerary of the visit is not clearly explained, and one can deduce it only if he knows the history and the events (I did it, but not the same for several visitors, who were wandering inside the venues with no clue of what to see first).
The volume of propaganda music and speeches was so loud to overwhelm the audio guide explanations.
The captions - when available...- were often only in Hungarian.
The wardens spoke NO English at all.
Finally, few places to sit.
A real pity.
Gianluca Manfredelli — Google review
This was a sobering exposé of atrocities in the post WW2 and Soviet occupation era. It was a thorough and well documented timeline showing the impact to the daily lives of ordinary citizens caught in the crosshairs of war. The only criticisms are that the museum would itself become another terror in the event of a fire, given the overcrowding of visitors, close quarters and unlabeled fire exits. The English audio guide also portrayed the Hungarian politicians as being forced unwillingly into choosing sides in WW2 due to being squeezed between Germany and Russia, with no mention of their aspirations to retake land lost after WW1.
John Miller — Google review
The climate in this place is just amazing. So good idea to create this that much scary. The things presented are just facts. There's a lot of videos. Don't take the audio guide as this does not help you to focus on what you see or watch. On the other hand it works just terrible. Sometimes switches automatically (mostly in the rooms with videos) where in quiet rooms without and texts doesn't work and you need to turn on manually. I have found it rather disturbing after just 5 minutes. The organization is half good. That means you start 2nd floor and follow the arrows until 1st floor. Then the access to the basement is something you need to figure out on your own also with direction.
Krzysztof Sucharski — Google review
Interesting museum about the history of Hungary and the past of the Soviet regime. It can be abit abstract at times and some exhibits have no English descriptions. The exhibit is not that big and can be finished in about 30-45 minutes. The sentiment of the museum is good as you can see the real building and place of the atrocities, but it is not very educational. Museum tours can block whole rooms and passages for other visitors which is frustrating. Staff are just curt and not friendly.
Nat G — Google review
Should have a lot of stories that show the horrible period in Hungary. The poor arrangement not able to bring up the interest and make visitor boring and sleepy. Basically just script with some videos and throw these information to visitors. Unlike other museum or gallery that they don’t allow any photos taking in this house. I would not recommend to waste time
* Woo Bai — Google review
Lots of bad things happened here in this house, use the audio phone if you want to understand something , everything is in Hungarian, no English next to all infos . We just looked and without understanding anything went out 😊but could feel the terror . Maybe I will understand what I saw when I read the book I bought in the museumshop.
Artin Seropian — Google review
Visiting the museum is only comprehensible with audio guides; without them, you're left bewildered (especially if you do not understand Hungarian). While the atmosphere is great (and the overall setup), it's overshadowed by the lack of English explanations for tourists, leaving them at a disadvantage. Important to mention: No photos allowed.
Tobias Schneider — Google review
The Museum was good, I felt the audio guide is very necessary despite there are some papers with explanations but the info they have are very limited, so in my experience would be more enjoyable and easy to understand if you have an audio guide. The price is 2,000 florins
Henry Zarza — Google review
Pros:
- For a museum about terror, it felt eerie and claustrophobic. The visuals, music and sound all supported the atmosphere.
Cons:
- They use a revisionist history where Hungarians were portrayed as victims of Nazis whereas in reality, they were allies and enthusiastic collaborators (Hungary chose to join the Axis). This museum fits well with Orban and Fidesz’s narrative.
- Almost everything is in Hungarian so you need to get the audio guide. Is the propaganda intended for a domestic audience?
- The gift shop contains more propaganda literature about how wokism or Soros is corrupting the world.
The Heroes Square in Budapest, Hungary is a popular tourist destination that features statues of the seven chieftains who founded Hungary. The square also has a museum of fine arts and the palace of arts.

Romanesque looking statues and columns. Huge and stunning. Totally worth a visit and pictures. There added two different museums that are on both sides of the square and the city park is a super short walk from there. Easy to use a city bus to get out to that area, took us about 40 minutes on the bus. It is away from the main downtown areas.

Im giving this a four star as although the monuments are spectacular, and very akin to Vatican city style pillars that curve, there is a huge square that could be much more vibrant but remains bear. Fisherman's Bastion was much more impressive in my opinion.

HEROES' SQUARE
The square is located at the far end of Andrassy Avenue, adjacent to City Park, and it stands as one of the prominent squares in Budapest. It's renowned for its iconic Millennium Monument adorned with statues depicting Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, which is often mistakenly referred to as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On the left and right sides of the square are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art. Be cautious, as in Budapest, there are three additional squares named Heroes' Square.
