One of the various Waterfalls in and around Ranchi.. Jharkhand. best to visit after monsoon.. connectivity is very good.. you have to climb down to see the Waterfalls
Ashadul Mondal — Google review
After seeing most of the major waterfalls in or around Ranchi, i can tell that this is the best in my view.
I visited during the month of july, and i recommend visiting this place in the monsoon season.
You have to walk through the stairs downward to reach falls, even there are viewpoints at every stage, better for the old ones to enjoy the view from those places.
You can bathe in the water at your own risk and safety.

Beautiful waterfall and is still kept clean and tidy overall. Not much population around so the scenic value gets enhanced automatically.
It has a proper parking space and a few food joints right there.
The approach road is in itself a beautiful drive and trust me when I say that you are going to love the drive as much as the waterfall itself.
Happy Travelling and Exploring.

It is a wonderful place in Jharkhand but there should be some more basic amenities. Toilets can be kept clean and in return they can charge some amount from the tourists. Roads are well connected to the place and it is also not so far from Ranchi. While coming from Ranchi one needs to be very careful for taking right turn for the fall, as there is no sign for it.
Anand Priya Deo — Google review
Visited in August end at the end of monsoons, so witnessed a huge discharge of water in the waterfall. Three streams of water converge at the top and fall. Both the views of waterfall and the whole basin from below is awesome. There are steps leading to the base from the car parking area. One can climb the rocks for a close view.
There is another path from car parking to the top area of the waterfall for a different kind of view and experience. There are no entry charges, however locals charge Rs50 when travelling by Car. The roads are marked and Google map is correct.
Enjoyed it.

This place is situated a hour ride from main city centre of ranchi , it is surrounded by dense jungle , this is a perfect picnic spot , to reach at the base of fall you need to go down 300 steps approx but the journey and view is stress beater though it can be harsh for those who are not use to steep climbing , this place is usually buzzing with tourist and huge crowd come here weekend .

It's a natural beauty yes you can take a shower in the falls.. Good for a ride it takes a long 10km off road passing through a remote village with a good road system good to have a traditional food there try not to take plastics...

It is the best waterfall located in the vicinity of Ranchi. You will have to climb down a few stairs to reach the waterfall. It also has a flat area where you can take a dip in the water if you want. The waterfall had water throughout the year, but the best time to visit this is in the rainy or spring season.

Really amazing place to visit for photography and nature lovers. The sound is so enticing that you just want to stay there. With difference in season the views changes as well.

One of the good water falls in Jharkhand. It is situated around 10KM from the NH33. You have to Rs.50.00 at the entry gate maintained by local people. The local people are very good. The place is neat and clean and you can find food during weekends. There are some shops for local handicraft materials, fresh fruits and vegetables. But the water flow is very less during these days. For full waterflow you have to visit during July - August. Overall the place is very good and beautiful in raw nature. If good roads are made then it will add more value to the place.

This place is 40kms away from Ranchi and most visited destination in Jharkhand. Pure water of the Kanchi river cascades from 144ft and looks stunning. There is a top view point and also you can go down by steps to enjoy the place closely. Entry fee is not there but they charge you for parking. Steps are more so plan accordingly. But such a nice place to enjoy with family and friends.

Mesmerizing view of the falls. I visited on a rainy day. The place is nice and there are so many spots where you can click photos as well. Overall a very good place to visit with family as well.
Dipam Goswami — Google review
Nice fall, less number of stairs & decent eatery options. The stairs were closed after a certain point, probably because of rain resulting in high water level. View points were created at multiple levels, some better than the others. All of them had a good amount of space for the crowd.

The best waterfall in Jharkhand state. Beautiful. There are not too many stairs, so all can go down to the falls and enjoy it. I just loved the place. Surrounded by hills, jungles, greenery all round.

Dassam falls is one of the very famous, popular and beautiful water falls in Ranchi (Jharkhand). This water fall is surrounded by mountains and greens. This is top choice for picnic spot. About an hour drive from the city. Also This is one of the dangerous waterfall so be very careful. Recently I visited during week day there was no crowd buy during weekends, holidays, new year This is full of crowd. You can spend whole day and enjoy beautiful nature view. Own vehicle is recommend to visit this water falls. You can also enjoy other water falls near to this place. Sharing some beautiful photos with you.

It's a good place for winter picnics . You need to carry food and supplies if you are not local there. A minimum entry fee you have to give the authority.
Overall a family-friendly place to visit .

We came from USA all the way to Dassam Falls and loved it! When we first arrived, we had fun feeding goats and dogs in the parking area, then met a monkey at the top of the falls viewing area. Got lucky and saw even more monkeys having a party. That in addition to the beautiful waterfalls in a very cool tribal setting. I wish we can come back here many times again to the wonderful state of Jharkhand!! ❤️❤️👏👏🙏🙏🙏

A very beautiful place. The view is awesome. Nearly 33 km from Ranchi and road conditions are very good. Driving through the road is a great pleasure. Then the view of the falls is mind blowing. You have to go down some steps also to enjoy the scenery. I bet you won't regret visiting this place. There is also some food stall. Reach early morning, Take some time to spend here and you will return with some peace of mind.

This place is just 50km from Ranchi city. This place is not easy to reach. Here it is reached by private vehicle 🚲🚗⛵🚁 . Best time to reach from October to march. Will say must come and explore this place.

This is one of the best falls in Jharkhand. For better view, I recommend to visit it just after the monsoon. It's better to avoid going there in Summer.
The authority charge a little for car parking and ticket per person though local people take a chance to earn by providing their land for car parking.

Dimna Lake is a man-made reservoir located in the foothills of a mountain, known for its popularity among tourists who love to picnic and go boating. The lake boasts stunning blue waters that are irresistible to jump into, however, visitors should be mindful of the cold temperatures during winter months. In addition to the lake's raw beauty, there are also temples nearby that add cultural significance to the area. For those who appreciate nature and scenic views, Dimna Lake is a must-visit destination.
Excellent place especially during sunset. Serene place to spend at least an hour.

The environment here is very good, it is a very peaceful place, the heart felt very relaxed here, cool winds also blow. And there are many good things to visit here, such as there is a very long lake and small hills, there are banks surrounded by hills, overall I liked it very much here and I had a very good experience, I will come again. I will try to come here very soon. If you want peace and breezy environment then definitely come here.

Tata Steel Zoological Park is a popular riverfront destination that offers visitors an opportunity to view a variety of animals on display, take boat rides, visit the nature education center and dine at their restaurants. The park has seats near the lake and shades for relaxation. However, it requires walking about 3km to see all the animals and needs better maintenance. This zoo is considered one of Jamshedpur's most beautiful spots in terms of cleanliness and security, with a separate play area for children.
Amazing place for everyone. It's a small zoo in the heart of the city. You can walk if the weather is good. Else it is recommended to take a battery operated vehicle from the gate. Have 1 hour if you want a quick tour in a vehicle else 3 hours if you intend to walk

A must visit destination with kids and friends within Jamshedpur City which offers you refreshing atmosphere along with various information regarding wild animals. We recently visited this place. We loved the e- ricksaw ride which gave us pleasure of safari. The zoo is nicely maintained by Tata steel Zoological society. The information board contains brief and concise information regarding various animals and this guide us about IUCN category of threatened, endangered species about various animals. This definitely creates awareness amongst citizen and kids. This also offers membership to bird Club and various job opportunity. A There are lots of places within zoo where a photographer can have interesting frames (separates charges for still and video cameras). Tickets, are available at entrance. On Monday, it is closed. I would like to request people visiting this place to keep it clean, follow guidelines, show good etiquette while observing wild animals.

A zoological park, also known as a zoo, is a facility where a wide variety of animals are kept for public display, education, conservation, and research purposes. Zoos provide an opportunity for people to learn about and connect with animals from around the world while also contributing to conservation efforts for endangered species. These parks often have carefully designed enclosures to mimic natural habitats and provide the animals with a comfortable and enriching environment.
The safety and well-being of animals in zoological parks (zoos) depend on various factors, including the zoo's commitment to animal welfare, the quality of care provided, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations. Many reputable zoos prioritize the safety and welfare of their animals by:
Providing appropriate enclosures: Zoos aim to create environments that mimic the animals' natural habitats as closely as possible, offering space, shelter, and enrichment.
Offering proper nutrition and healthcare: Zoos have veterinarians and animal care specialists who ensure animals receive appropriate diets, medical care, and attention to their physical and psychological needs.

Educating the public: Zoos play a crucial role in educating visitors about the importance of wildlife conservation and the challenges facing animals in the wild.
Complying with regulations: Zoos are subject to local, national, and international laws and regulations that govern the care and treatment of animals.

The Zoo has limited Animals, it seems it is under development but the present animals are in good shape
Open space areas around the Canines makes the viewing experience great
There are several birds which are again good to watch, colourful and vibrant
The Hippopotamus not only gave a walk show but sprayed some water on some of the tourists as well, this is possible only if there are open areas for Animals
Upcoming additions seem promising as well, the zoo is maintained very well

An excellent place for sports enthusiasts and lovers. Well maintained by Tata Steel and is the pride of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand. With world class sports infrastructure ranging from athletics to football, cricket, swimming, gym, indoor sports facilities, boxing, martial arts, archery, mountaineering and much more. It's kind of a cradle of sports in Jamshedpur and around. It has produced few of the world class sports personalities of fame and repute. Tata Steel is not just business it's A WAY OF LIFE....

Perfect sports facility in the heart of Jamshedpur city. Have been there right from the inauguration by JRD Tata in 1991 and still stands tall as the sporting facility - be it any sports. Was amazed looking at several Arjuna awardee, Padma awardes, Dronacharya awardee photographs well decorated in the hall of fame. And now hosting ISLs

Khandadhar Waterfall is a striking natural wonder created by the Korapani Nala stream, cascading 244m down a cliff. The descent to its base involves 950 steps and an altitude gain of around 550m, which takes approximately an hour with rest stops. The spring season offers delightful views of colorful foliage along the way, but during non-rainy periods, the amount of water is reduced.
This is a very nice and good place to visit. The waterfall is very nice and serene. You will enjoy the nature at its best. The only thing is to see the waterfall properly you have to climb closely 900 steps. So this is a bit difficult. But if you overcome this then you can enjoy the fruit of that hard-work. A best viewing waterfall.

Khandadhar Waterfall
Khandadhar waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfall of Keonjhar falling straight down to the earth at a distance of around 500 feet height. Due to the vertical falling of water this water fall is known as Khandadhar. Its stunning natural environment encircled with mountain range at three directions mesmerizes visitors coming from all around of the state & abroad. This spot is at a distance of 50 km from Keonjhar town.

950 steps, around 550m altitude to the base of the water falls. It takes about an hour to reach and 20 minutes to return with sufficient rest in between. The view around the steps are good, specially during spring due to multiple colors of the leaves, however you will miss the quantum of water as because it’s not rainy season. However, I would recommend to have two bottles of liquid ORS to keep you hydrated and energized through your journey. Cheers!

Located 100 km from Keonjhar and 85 km from Rourkela, Khandadhar waterfall is definitely a treat to watch. In order to experience the fall properly, one needs to climb 650 steps. So do carry water and jawbreakers/chewing gums. There are a couple of food stalls at the base which serve cold drinks and snacks.

Entry for the car is 100. You can park it where the stairs start. It is a huge waterfall and you can get wet just by standing near it. I would not recommend taking a bath. From the top view point you can see rainbow when the sky is clear.

I visited Sanaghagara Waterfall last weekend with my family and we had a wonderful time. The waterfall is located in a scenic forest area and the sound of the water is very soothing. The waterfall is not very high, but it is wide and has a lot of water. The water is clean and refreshing, and there is a pool at the bottom where you can swim or splash around. There are also some rocks and trees around the waterfall where you can sit and relax. The place is well maintained and has facilities like parking, toilets, changing rooms, and a small cafeteria. The entry fee is reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend Sanaghagara Waterfall to anyone who loves nature and wants to enjoy a peaceful and fun day out.

This is a great picnic spot, for kids, or adults. The place is well maintained, and the trail to the waterfall is full of lucrative views. You will go through big trees on both sides. There are kids playing areas separately created. Be aware of monkeys though. The monkeys are friendly and they don't attack unless you initiate a teasing. There is a big lake at the centre of the park where boating facilities are available. Parking is available inside the premises.
You will find delicious street food to savour your taste buds.

It is a very lovely location with a lake, waterfall, garden, and park. This location is frequently popular for picnics and leisure pursuits.
Additionally, there are grocery stores on the campus.
It's a great place to spend time with loved ones and friends. This space can be divided into two halves. One area features a lake where you may go boating and a walking route surrounds the lake. The waterfall is another area, and getting there requires a short hike from the entrance.
Small children can play with see-saws, swings, slides, and other toys.
The fact that trash is being strewn around is a disadvantage. There is a lot of trash around the waterfall. We must keep it tidy and put the trash inside.

Latest update of Sanaghagara waterfall .
1 ⭐ rating please try to upgrade those areas. No toilet and bathroom facilities are there. The bathroom is locked. If you have urgent then you have to go outside in an open area. I complained about the toilet at the ticket counter and they told me that the motor is out of order so the contractor locked both bathrooms. There is a small museum about the forest and their living beings but it was also locked outside. People and children were watching outside the window. Very badly maintained place. But the ticket price is so high . You have to pay extra for the picnic cleaning spot to the local people when they are charging for the same cause in the ticket.
Please let people enjoy the place. And authority please sit from the bloody chair and do some work at the beautiful place.

Walled Hindu temple complex with multiple shrines & colourful domes, dedicated to Goddess Biraja.
One of the Ashtadasha Shaktipeethas. Powerful place this and one can experience the vibrations within a short duration of Meditation/Dhyan. Like most devotees have mentioned before priests are money minded. They are not happy with the dakshina offered but demand for a certain amount. But one must look beyond these irritations to experience the ambience of this temple.

Biraja Sakthipeeta is a historic temple located in #Jajpur. The principal deity is Matha Durgadevi, who is worshiped as Viraja. Jajpur itself is called #Viraja Kshetra and #BirajaPeetha. The Durga devi has two hands (dwibhuja), spearing the chest of Mahishasura with one hand and pulling his tail with the other. The murti's crown features Ganesha, a crescent moon and a lingam. The temple covers a large area, and has several shrines to Shiva and others. In this Sakthipeetam
Sati's navel fell. Ashtadasha Shakti Peetha Stuti Adi Shankara describes her goddess as Girija. This is also known as #NabiGaya

Biraja devi temple is a Shakti Peeth, where Sati's Navel/Nabhi is located. Serene temple and a devine Devi darshan. A bit far from Bhubaneswar though, very interior. Beware of the money minded pandits, they are common across all temples here.

1) Time taken to reach the temple from Bhubaneswar Patia is about 2:30-3 hours. Actually we had taken a break for breakfast as we started from home early morning. Overall it might be around 2:20 mins.
2) The only challenge we faced at the place is the public rest room outside the temple perimeter is not clean even if they charge 5/- per person. It’s not maintained at all.
3) Just outside the temple perimeter, there is ample space for vehicle parking.
4) we had a wonderful and peaceful Darshan of Biraja Maa without any crowd or any pull/push of pandas/public
5) The temple perimeter has 7-8 more temples with lot of spaces to roam around. For elders it is a very comforting place as not much stairs to climb and they can sit under a tree if tired or during summer days
6) from temple about 3-4 km there is a Dasashwamedh Ghat which is Beside Brahmani river where people perform Pind Dana rituals.
7) It is said, that the Garva Griha within temple perimeter does not need any cleaning. Once Pind offered here, the Pind only goes to the centre of earth and it never gets filled. Nice concept I found it, as this place is one of the 51 Shakti Peeth of Maa Shakti where “NAVI” of Maa Shakti fell here.

Cons: the pujari harassment is very bad here. Pujari will force you to pay money for any offering to the goddess. Don't pay money to them and keep yourself while entering the temple do not say where you are from.

May have a strong history behind this temple. I heard one localite telling me that Parvvathi's part fell at this place and formed the Biraja Mandir. The main diety is Maa Parvathi. There is a pathal Jagannath Temple and it is not maintained at all as it has become a dwelling for a lot of cockroaches. Some one was distributing prasad for Rs.20 in the temple complex and few people were selling diary products. Towards the left of the temple there were plenty of Shivlings. When we went it was a bit crowded and it took about 1 hour for darshan. Some of the Decotees had orange Tika on their forehead with white thrishul in the center painted.

Maa Biraja Temple is located in Jajpur, Odisha.
It is one of a Sakti Pitha and is told to be powerful as one body part of Goddess Sati (before the birth of Parvati Devi), wife of Shivji fell here from across India. There is an ancient story about it.
This Temple is open during morning and evening hours.
The names of idols are also mentioned in Telugu.
Overall one must visit it, will feel blessed.

I always like to go where nature's beauty is spread all over. Kapilash is one of them. There is a temple of Lord Shiva on the top of the hill where he is worshiped. The environment is good & you can't watch the whole place in one day. Also, the washrooms and toilets are very clean to use. The best part is that you will get lost in the beauty of nature. There is a hotel that provides lunch by giving you paid token before the lunch. Lastly, I enjoyed the trip to Kapilash a lot and obviously, you will also.

After the Lord shiva tample you'll find Sita entudisala that is the birth place of Laba and Kusha after climbing the mountain for 15-20 mins after. Barabati Fort is a historical landmark in Cuttack, Odisha that dates back to the 1300s during the Ganga dynasty. The remnants of the carved gateway and ramparts showcase the golden history of Cuttack and are a great place for photo and video shoots. The fort was made by King Markat Keshari of Somavanshi dynasty and is now undergoing restoration work by the Odisha government to make it even more beautiful.
Barabati Fort is a 987 CE fort built by Marakata Keshari of Somavamshi (Keshari) dynasty in Cuttack, Odisha.
The ruins of the fort remain with its moat, gate, and the earthen mound of the nine-storied palace, which evokes the memories of past days. Today it sits next to the modern Barabati Stadium, the venue of various sport events and cultural programs.
There is also a temple dedicated to Katak Chandi, the presiding deity of the city, not far away from the fort. Now there are plans to develop the old Gadakhai into a world class tourist destination with boating facilities and a world class park. The renovation work of the Gadakhai is going on in full swing.

There's no ticket. The fort and garden are adjacent to each other. There are only ruins of the fort. There's a gate at a little distance from the fort and the interiors of that gate are now a stadium. Getting an auto is a little challenging here. The garden is very well kept and is clean. You'll find kids playing here and also on the stadium grounds

Barabati fort, is a good place to visit. It is actually a ruin. Unfortunately the locals do not consider it as tourist spot. As usual fort has a an arched entrance leading to a busy road that splits into two. The entrance to this fort is the left road. It is a well kept enclosure. Green garden and very well maintained. Unfortunately young couples make us feel uncomfortable.
Opposite to Barabati fort, you will find stadium. It is just a landmark.
A little ahead, you have High court museum. I must say i have never seen such museum till now. I would suggest those who have some inclination towards our judicial system will enjoy it. It also take back to history time, which are not there in text books. Do not take children here to museum. They will get bored.
The other road which continues straight from the main gate, you will find Maa Gadachandi temple. She is a popular deity, and showering blessings on her devotees. Do visit, as all are near and walkable.
Nature lovers will enjoy this place.

Barabati forts distance from Cuttack junction is 6 km . There is main gate on the front side of the fort . After going 300 meter there is garden and garden is in good condition . There is only 3 buildings are available to see in that fort.
And the worst thing is that there is not available any historical board in the fort .
Government or local people should make the historical board of fort , If they don't have any proper information they can get information on the Google and please make it for our historical culture this is our responsibility .
It is helpful for tourists and I think Tourism is very important part of the total GDP of the Odisha State .

It is just a few kilometers away from the cuttack city. It was built approximately 800-900 years ago. The environment and the scenario is too good..
This fort is situated on the river of Mahanadi which is why people from multiple locations come here to spend the times.
However this is a ruined fort and it needs some developments to attract the more tourists.
Place is so empty and one shop is there. So If you wanna go there to spend the times, please bring foods from outside and don't forget to bring someone with you ( for women).

Nice place to visit for short time or long rest. Soprting activities go everywhere, so everyone is free to workout. Very peaceful place. The fort can be a mediocre place for photoshoot. Pondside Dargah is a nice charm. Lush green and some museums, one deer park and decorative infrastructures laden its outskirts so, one can easily spend much time around this riverside place. Plenty of place for bike and car parking. Also for short picnic. If one can time their trip correctly, they can glimpse a lot of butterflies.

Nestled in the Old City, Cuttack Odisha, on the confluence of River Mahanadi, Mother Chandi is the main deity who is looking after and protecting this Premier Capital of Odisha .This powerful black stone deity is the ruler of Cuttack and a living goddess.
According to legend, the present piece of land, where the holy temple is located, was lying fallow before. Late Sri Hansa Panda, who happens to be the Purohit of the then King of Kanika, experienced a strange unusual feeling within himself. Surprisingly on the same night, The Goddess "Chandika" appeared in his dream and requested him to take her out of the land.
The image of the deity is older than the temple. It is believed that she was the family deity of the Gajapati Empire in the medieval age, due to Islamic invaders' attacks she was buried while the kings migrated to Puri. This temple was established in 1946.

The arati timing of this temple is 6:30 PM. The shoe stand price is 5/- per footwear. The mandira bhog is 100/- and one deep is 20/-. The holy place is a bit pricey so better take your own puja essentials from home. The vibe is very positive and powerful here so make sure you have cleansed your brain before entering the temple or else you'll not be able to understand the feel I'm talking about. The ticket counter on the left to the entry gate. It costs only Rs.10 per person. And is closed from 1:30pm to 2:00pm for lunch break. And the place is open even on sunday.
But if you are in the premises before that you are still allowed to see things.
The place was neat and clean and well maintained. There was no rush when we visited.
Photography is not allowed inside the museum but you can click pics when you are outside of the building.
The place is obviously historically significant. Its a must visit.

Nice meuseum in Cuttack. This meuseum holds the birth place (or the room) of supreme legend Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Apart from than, his child life, study life, spiritual life, family life, political life (his interaction with other leaders) working (Indian freedom struggle ) etc are displayed in the meuseum. I was wondered when got to know more information about the Indian National Academy and Azaz Hind Fauj operation. This truly indicates the bravery of that man. I like the thing that how is Netaji's emotional relationship with Odisha. Overall the meuseum is good and the garden near the meuseum is very beautiful.

It's the birthplace of our great son Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. His contributions in freedom struggle can't be measured. But we Indians couldn't give enough respects to him.
However let's talk about his birthplace. His birthplace is well designed and has a record of photos to imply his contributions in freedom struggle.
To enter this place you will have to pay 10rs and this place is closed on all official holidays.
You know I entered this place from backward and felt very congested as the place is surrounded by congested bastis. So I think still we couldn't honour his birthplace.

The Nandankanan Zoological Park is an interesting zoo with a wide variety of animals, including white tigers and pangolins. It is located inside a forest, making it a unique kind of zoo.
Not recommended to visit during summer as the area is huge and walking under the sun will be tiring but still we enjoyed our safari and spent some good time here. The Zoo is well maintained and has enough exotic species like the White Tiger, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard and Lion.
Zoo also has large variety of crocodiles, reptiles, bears and giraffes.Entry fee is Rs 50/ per person and for safari is Rs 60/- per person. There is a battery-operated vehicle which makes travelling easy within zoo.

One of the best Zoo's of India. Spread in almost 500 acres of land. Very well maintained, spacious and greenery. Different species of Tigers, monkeys, lions and reptiles are found here along with Giraffe, Chimpanzees and birds.
Purified Cold Drinking water and Toilets are available all around the zoo for the comfort of visitors.
Jungle safari and trains are also available for adventures. Electric vehicles for those who can't walk down the zoo specially for senior citizens.
I personally had a lovely experience and would surely recommend this place to visit both for adults and children.

Well worth a visit, just be patient - the entrance to the market square is set back and very busy, but be patient as the real attraction is at the end. It is also very convenient to bring a car with a battery because it is very large. It was amazing to see tigers, white tigers and lions. Tiger safaris are also good and giraffes can also be seen.
Be sure to hire a guide to help you navigate the large zoo. Proof can be obtained once you receive your tickets.
There is a famous white tiger in the zoo and it is worth seeing. Of course, they have ferocious lions and many tigers. Lots of animals - you decide what to see and let the guide know. It takes at least two hours to walk through the zoo at a brisk pace and see all the animals. A must-see attraction! ! !
Overall, my recommendation is - spend time in Nandankanan by yourself and support the conservation efforts. It is a relatively small zoo, especially if you have been to zoos in India or overseas in bigger cities.

Nandankanan Zoological Park is a true paradise for animal lovers and families alike. Spread over vast acres of lush greenery, the park offers a unique opportunity to witness a wide array of exotic and indigenous species in their naturalistic habitats. The zoo's emphasis on animal welfare and conservation is commendable, providing a safe and enriching environment for its inhabitants.
The park's star attraction is undoubtedly the white tiger safari, where visitors can marvel at the majestic and rare white tigers roaming freely in a spacious enclosure. Additionally, the park houses a rich variety of animals, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and a diverse range of bird species.
What sets Nandankanan apart from other zoos is its unique feature of a botanical garden within the premises. The lush gardens add to the serene ambiance and provide an opportunity for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.
The zoo's dedication to education and awareness is evident through their informative exhibits and regular conservation programs. Visitors can learn about the importance of wildlife protection and the role each individual can play in safeguarding our planet's precious biodiversity.
However, to fully explore the vast expanse of the park, visitors should come prepared with comfortable walking shoes and plenty of water. Some areas might require better signages and directions for convenience.
In conclusion, Nandankanan Zoological Park is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable and educational wildlife experience. Its commitment to conservation, splendid animal exhibits, and serene surroundings make it an enchanting place to connect with nature and wildlife.

Nandankanan has a beautiful botanical garden with a wide range of plants, making it an ideal place for nature enthusiasts. The zoo is well-equipped with amenities for visitors including a nature interpretation center, an aquarium, a reptile park, and a walk-in aviary.
Visitors can enjoy safari rides in the zoo, including a white tiger safari and a lion safari, to get a closer look at the animals in a more naturalistic setting. We have seen almost all the animals and it’s worth visiting especially with kids. They will definitely have super fun. Even though it needs a long walk it’s worth going for the animals. The animals were also given cute names to call them. The zoo is kept clean and the animals are well taken care off.
Nandankanan Zoological Park is a place where conservation, education, and recreation come together to provide an enriching experience for visitors while contributing significantly to the conservation of endangered species. It is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in wildlife and nature.

I don't really like Zoological gardens but this place was a bit different. This place was clean and the animals looked well fed. We visited this place last in 2015 and it was pretty well maintained. They also had a conducted tour bus to move conveniently inside the zoo and it was mainly for elder people and families with kids.
The zoo area is pretty big and they had a large variety of animals at their zoo. The kids and young adults would enjoy this place very much.

I recently visited the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar, my overall experience was superb. This offers a wide range of fascinating animals and birds, making it a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts and families. The well-maintained enclosures and the presence of helpful maps and guides throughout the zoo made the visit enjoyable.
The variety of animals and birds present at Nandankanan is truly impressive. The zoo offers a glimpse into the diverse world of wildlife. The information provided in front of each enclosure helps visitors to know about the animals.
However, amid the visit, I have a sympathy for some of the animals living in enclosures. Although efforts have been made to create suitable habitats, still the birds and animals are confined to cages.
Some of the additional attractions, such as boating, flying cars, and the safari train, were not operational during my visit.

A nicely setup zoo. It is located on a plot land with trees and scrubs that seem well equipped to accommodate a zoo. There are the usual animals, but we visited this zoo, especially to ser the indian and white tigers. It was mid day, so they were hiding or not very active. The animals were given a good sized cages with enough space to walk and run. Nevertheless, we managed to see some and take photos.
Apart from the zoo, they also have an area that they call Safari. The animals are given a much larger area to live in, and in order to see the animals, you board a bus that drives you through the different safari zones. The drivers were in a hurry to drive you around, which did not allow everybody to make photos or to observe the animals adequately.

For me, visiting this zoo leads to a good day! There is a different parking spot for the vehicle and it is charged. You need to buy tickets and show them at the entrance gate to get an entry, also you'll encounter a large crowd at the ticket counters. Tickets for individuals as well as for the safari guide are available. Since it consists of so much of diversities that are put together, that includes various animals, birds, and reptiles; you'll not find it boring at all to explore this place with your friends and family. The environment provided to the respective creatures somehow mimics their natural habitat or the wild, as well as their basic needs, are being fulfilled. The creatures where they are enclosed are quite as natural as that of the wild including a room-like space.

Our recent visit to Nandankanan left us feeling quite disappointed. While we were excited to spend a day with our family exploring the park, our experience fell short of our expectations.
The park's layout and organization seemed confusing, making it challenging to navigate from one exhibit to another. We found the signage to be inadequate, leaving us unsure about which direction to go and which animals were in each area. This led to some frustration and wasted time as we tried to find our way around.
Another letdown was the condition of some of the animal enclosures. It was disheartening to see a few enclosures that appeared cramped and in need of maintenance. The animals' well-being should be a top priority, and we were concerned about their living conditions in certain areas of the park.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the park was a concern. We noticed litter in some sections, which detracted from the overall experience and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
On a positive note, there were a few exhibits that were well-maintained and offered an interesting glimpse into different species. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the overall lackluster experience we had during our visit.
NOTE: Scammers alert- DON'T BUY GUIDE TICKET FROM OUTSIDE AS IT'S A SCAM, THEY WILL QUOTE A PRICE OF RS.800/640...BUT IF YOU CHECK THE ACTUAL PRICE INSIDE THE PARK IT'S QUITE CHEAPER.

A really decent zoo, on its way to become a quite unique zoo. The varieties and quantities of animals they have is not that impressive compared to other famous zoos I've visited. But it is fairly entertaining. They even have battery cars for the elderly who can't walk.
One special point about them is that they have an area where they have separate division for types of animals. Like bear, tigers, lion they all live in a real mini forest made for them and we enter it through a bus. Loved the concept.

Government maintenance is lacking here. Consider hiring a guide; otherwise, you'll just be looking at animals with no context. Guide rates are ₹250 per hour for groups under 10 and ₹300 per hour for over 10 people. Even with a guide, opt for an e-vehicle ticket for a less tiring and comprehensive zoo experience. Instead of a counter ticket, scan for an e-ticket outside the ticket building. Guides may ask ₹500; show them the government rates on the website to negotiate. E-vehicle tickets may have queues but are worth it. Unfortunately we didn't get safari tickets due to crowd. The tour takes 1.30-2 hours; carry a water bottle and eat beforehand as outside food isn't allowed. Remember your cap and goggles after 11 am. The diverse animal collection is fascinating with a guide. Closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly.

Since my initial visit to this zoo in 2010, it has, I believe, seen significant development. However, there may yet be a need for improvement in areas such as cleanliness and visitor transportation throughout the zoo. These days, animals are far healthier. The unfathomable amount of individuals that visit Nandankana astounds me. It's a good location, after all, and well worth the money and time you spend. You and your family will have a great time. The temple is well maintained and managed, and there are good facilities for visitors, including free parking and Prasad (food offerings). I have attended Sandhya arati, morning arati and afternoon arati as well and every single time I can feel the same energy and devotion.
This place is picture perfect.
If we talk about food then it was good before 2015-16. Everything was good and delicious. But after that I felt like the quality is detoriating day by day. Now the food quality (meals) is bad. Personally I didn't like the taste at all. In my last visit I found the rice is under cooked (not edible) other side items are not up to the mark as compared to price.

I like this place, especially temples like these when you can sit in a corner and feel calm, pray or watch others reciting Hare Krishna and praying. I feel that you will have different kinds of experience here related to calming the whole U, even if you are an atheist or agnostic.
If you are a big devotee and want some souvenirs related to God then you can shop at their store. If you are hungry then they offer prasadam at an affordable price. If you want to seek the path of Radhe Krishna and serve then they have a programme for that. I would say you will experience a different world out here in such temples.

I visited the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves with my family last week and I was amazed by the historical and religious significance of these ancient rock-cut caves. The caves are located on two adjacent hills, which offer a panoramic view of the city of Bhubaneswar. The caves are well-maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and have informative signboards and guides to explain the history and architecture of the caves.
The caves are believed to be built during the 1st century BCE by King Kharavela of the Mahameghavahana dynasty for the Jain monks. The caves have beautiful carvings and sculptures depicting various scenes from Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Some of the notable caves are Hathi Gumpha, which has a 17-line inscription of King Kharavela's achievements; Ranigumpha, which is a double-storeyed monastery with a courtyard; Ananta Gumpha, which has images of snakes, elephants and lions; and Ganesha Gumpha, which has a figure of Lord Ganesha on the doorway.
The caves are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day and have a nominal entry fee of Rs. 15 for Indians and Rs. 200 for foreigners. There is also a fee of Rs. 25 for video cameras. The caves can be reached by bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi from Bhubaneswar. The best time to visit the caves is during the winter season when the weather is pleasant and comfortable.
I would highly recommend visiting the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves to anyone who is interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of Odisha. The caves are a testimony to the artistic and religious diversity of ancient India and offer a glimpse into the life and beliefs of the Jain monks. The caves are also a great place to enjoy some peace and tranquility amidst nature. I would rate the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves 5 out of 5 stars for their historical, architectural and spiritual value.
Regards
Abhinav.

The historic places to visit with family. Both are different. One is free & other is chargeable to enter. Have to be careful while climbing especially old age people. At the common entrance there are alot of monkeys thief. Be careful with them. They may snatch your purse or any handbag. They do it because people feed them so they don't fear people. They expect people to feed them of not they will snatch the purse or bag in search of food. Sometimes people lost their costlier belonging if they have any jewellery or mobile in purse of they snatch it they run away so chances that you may loss the belonging. Be alert.

Atri, a charming village in the Khurda district of Odisha, India, is known for its perennial hot spring and the Lord Hatakeswara temple. Located about 15 km west of Khurda, Atri is easily accessible from Bhubaneswar's airport and Khurda Road Junction Railway Station. The village's hot spring is believed to have medicinal properties and is used for treating skin ailments.
The Rajarani temple is one of the temples in Khandagiri and it is known for its intricate carvings. The temple was built sometime around the 11th or 12th century and features erotic sculptures of couples and women.
At a distance of 4 km from Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Rajarani Temple is one of the most renowned and the famous temples situated towards north-east of Lingaraja Temple in Bhubaneshwar. Maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, it is one of the must visit tourist places in Bhubaneswar.
Built in 11th century CE, the Rajarani Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is referred in the traditional Sanskrit texts as Indresvara Shiva Temple. The temple is known for its sculptural excellence, profusion of ornaments, exuberant architectural features and multiple scroll work. The present name Rajarani has been derived from the local sandstone used to build it. Rajarani Temple is also called as 'Love Temple', because the temple contains the erotic carvings of women and couples. The temple has a lot of historical importance.
Rajarani Temple is built in the pancha ratha style on a raised platform with two structures, a central shrine called the Vimana with a bada (curvilinear spire) over its roof rising to a height of 18 m and a jagamohana with a pyramidal roof. There is a range of smaller carved spires on the main spire. Amalaka, a stone disk with ridges on the rim, is placed over the tower of the temple. A kalasa surmounts the amalaka as the crowning finial. The plan of the jagamohana is square compared to the rectangular ones present in earlier temples. This temple is the reminiscent of the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple of Khajuraho.
The main sanctum of the temple is devoid of any deity. But there are some obvious features which indicate that the temple has a Shaivite origin. The temple has the presence of Shaiva Dwarapalakas named Prachanda and Chanda. The main attraction of this temple is sculptures of Astadikpalas, the eight temple guards who protects the temple from the different directions. The eight guardians are namely: Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirriti, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera and Ishana.

Well maintained by ASI. It's called temple but their is no Idol and it's empty. Outside architecture is beautiful to see. Inside is bit smelly and few bats are their.
Garden is well maintained. And it's a good location for marriage photography for both bride and groom.
Clean Garden. But during summer time please come with Umbrella or hats because their is less big tree to sit under the shadow during scorching summer.
Entry Fee 25. The architecture of the temple is worth the look.

The red and yellow colored sandstone is referred to as ‘Rajarani’ in the local language. Hence, the temple is named as Rajarani Temple! The history of the Rajarani Temple dates back to the 11th century. It was built by lndraratha, a famous Somavamsi dynasty ruler
This beautiful temple does not have deity or conducts Pujas. There is a strong belief that it has connection to Shiva worship. There is no presiding deity in the shrine, but it is believed that it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The outer structure is so intricately carved with beautiful women. This place is maintained well by ASI. A small entry fee is levied.

Well maintained area. A big shout out to the maintenance team here. I would say, This place is kept as it is because of their hard work. Entry is free. No words can express the beauty of architecture. It’s mind blowing and unbelievable when we get to know that it was constructed in 10th century. No puja is happening currently even though deity is there. Less crowded in the afternoon, but crowded in the evening. A must visit place in Odisha. One of the main temple in the ‘City of Temples’.

Be careful of the pond behind the temple side if you are traveling with kids and your kids are too tough to handle because in this today's evening one little boy ages about 4 years has slipped into the water along with his mother who tried to save him. 📍Mukteshwar Temple, Bhubaneswar
Built in the 10th Century, this shrine is considered as a ‘Gem of Odisha’ for its splendid architecture, exquisite sculpture work and intricate carvings. Dedicated to the Almighty Lord Shiva, this temple boasts of the Kalinga architectural style.
Entirely made out of red sandstone, this 35-feet temple is famous especially for its elaborately decorated arched-shaped gateway (locally known as Torana). The intricate and exquisite carvings on the arch is simply mesmerizing and is a testimony to the skilled craftsmanship of that period.
According to the legends, this temple was built by King Yayati I of the Somavamshi Dynasty.
The temple, built in Kalinga architectural style, has a height of approximately 35 feet. It is considered as a ‘Gem of Odisha’ for its elaborate architecture that comprises intricate carvings, diamond-shaped windows featuring lattice design and sculptures of characters from the popular tales of Panchatantra.
Surrounded by an octagonal compound wall featuring intricate carvings, the temple is believed to have been built with a somewhat new pattern that was a development from its predecessors, something that went on to be replicated in the architecture of temples in the city, built later.
The entrance to the temple has a spectacular arched-shaped gateway (Torana). It is among the few temples in the city that have been constructed in the Pitha Deula style, meaning the building has a square shape with the roof having a pyramid shape. This style is one of the distinct temple styles from Kalinga architecture, the others being Rekha Deula and Khakhara Deula.
The arched gateway, which shows unique influence of Buddhist architecture, is flanked by two pillars featuring carvings of smiling women wearing beads and ornaments.
The temple’s ‘vimana’ has a square shape with a raised platform with pilasters on the façades. Its ‘shikara’, which is about 34 feet, is decorated with carvings of four ‘natrajas’ with ‘kirthimukhas’. The inner sanctum of the temple has a doorway with an image of Ketu with three hooded snakes
There is a tank called Marichi Kunda inside the temple premises towards the eastern side while a well can be found towards its south-west corner.

The temple has figures of ornamented Nagas, nagis, raksakas, Ganga, Yamuna, Natraja, dwarfs figures etc. The tei latticed windows are on the north and south. The ceiling of the jagamohand is delicately carved in the form of a full blown lotus and contains the representations or Virabhadra and Saptamatrika. The place also has a very nice pond. The place is very well maintained and poojas are done and we were given Prasad by the Poojari. If you have interest in old temple carvings you should not miss the place at any cost.

Great architecture, the main deity is almost at below ground level unlike other Shiva Lingas. There are many small temples inside housing many different Shiva Lingas.
I loved the temple architecture. The only deterrent are the one who does Pooja (Brahmins). They are money hungry, creating constant sounds like put 300-500 on the deity to get blessings. Offer 10 rupees on the foot to get what you need etc.
I would like to hear from them Om namashivaya chants or mantras which create more positive energy.
You are supposed to leave your mobile outside the temple which is a welcome move. If govt does some renovation of dilapidated structures through ASI it will be even great.
Let's make our heritage and religious beliefs even better.

No such entry fee is there but vehicle parking fees are there. Every one must carry water and some food because not so much options are available. Overall a very nice place to visit specially in winter time. Some autorickshaw drivers are irritating.

So beautiful and serene. The place where Kalinga war was fought can be seen from up here. The building is beautiful and the wind up here is relaxing. The photos also come really nice. It is said Ashoka built it after the Kalinga war when he converted to Buddhism to repent for all the violence. Again, really beautiful, must visit.

Peace pagoda...as the name describes it's a really calm and quiet place. The heritage site presents an entire view of the city from the mountain which itself is a delight to the eyes! Different light shows also take place which costs approximately Rs. 25-30 per person starting from 7 PM till 8:30 PM everyday.

We went there during October and it was peak season. The place was really crowded. I recommend to visit this place during off season, when the crowd is thinner, then you can feel the peaceful atmosphere around also the peace pagoda was a great work of art. Highly recommended if you're going for side scene visit from Puri or Bhuvaneswar!

Travel a little distance about 7 km from Bhubaneswar.
This place has historical significance. When you visit the place you are amazed with the architecture and grandeur of the place.
There are two ways of entrance to this place. Don't park your vehicle at the temple side entrance if you are traveling around 6.00pm because the temple side gate will be closed around 6.30pm. We have faced a little problem because of the closure of the gate. So park your vehicle at the other side of the entrance.
No tickets required.

Nice historical place on a hilltop on the outskirts of Bhuvaneshwar. This is near the place where the famous battle of Kalinga took place. The legend is that it is on this hillock that Emperor Ashoka realised the futility of war.
The road uphill ends in a small parking lot surrounded by outlets selling traditional items, food etc...the typical scenario in any tourist spot. Many people also bring along food and have picnics among the woods in the hillside. From this parking lot, there is a short wall up the steps to the Stupa.
Given the limited space, parking for cars is a issue. Lots of people park on the roadside due to this.
They have provided a lift for the senior citizens and handicapped. That is a very good initiative that I have not seen in other such tourist spots. They have a public urinal as well with paid service charging rupees 10 per person.
From the courtyard of the stupa, you can see a nice view of the river downhill. The Stupa is magnificent and has beautiful murals. It also has the customary lion statues on all four sides.
Overall a nice place to go.
They have a light and sound show after sunset here.

It's a beautiful monument. It eludes a sense of peace when you are there. The outskirts of the monument has been plagued with commercial activities like every other place in India but it's worth a visit. The mornings are very hot. In order to escape the heat, you may visit this place in the evening.

**Dhauli Shanti Stupa**: A Tranquil Oasis in Odisha
Perched atop the serene **Dhauli Giri Hills**, the **Shanti Stupa** stands as a testament to peace and transformation. Here, amidst the heart-stirring landscapes of Odisha, ancient bloodshed has metamorphosed into a beacon of tranquility.
**1. Historical Significance:**
Dhauli Giri Hills is believed to be the very spot where the **Kalinga War** unfolded. In 272 B.C., Emperor **Ashoka the Great** witnessed the aftermath of this brutal battle. Horrified by the destruction, he underwent a profound transformation—from a ruthless conqueror to a devoted follower of **Buddhism**. Carvings of an elephant's head and forelegs, India's oldest rock-cut sculpture, mark this sacred site, symbolizing the birth of Buddha and the emergence of Buddhism⁴.
**2. The Shanti Stupa:**
The **Peace Pagoda** crowns the hill, its magnificent architecture adorned with sculpted images of **Lord Buddha**. As you ascend the steps, the symphony of silence envelops you, echoing far beyond the marble edifice. The stupa whispers tales of Ashoka's enlightenment, shaping centuries of Buddhist tradition. From this vantage point, gaze upon the beautiful **Daya River** and the city of **Bhubaneswar** below⁴.
**3. Light and Sound Show:**
Every evening, except Mondays, the hill hosts a mesmerizing **Light and Sound Show**. It weaves together history, spirituality, and the legacy of Ashoka. As the sun sets, the stupa comes alive, narrating the poignant journey from war to peace. The show is a poignant reminder of humanity's capacity for transformation and compassion⁴.
In summary, **Dhauli Shanti Stupa** invites you to pause, reflect, and embrace the serenity that arises from the ashes of conflict. Visit this sacred haven and let its whispers of peace resonate within your soul. 🕊️🙏🏽

The Dhauli Shanti Stupa is a beautiful Buddhist temple located atop Dhauli Hill in India. The temple is made up of white marble and is stunningly beautiful, and it reportedly commemorates the Kalinga War fought by Emperor Ashoka in 272 BC. Dhauligiri Hills is a place marked with the serenity of Daya River . The famous rock edicts of Ashoka are worth witnessing. Moreover, Dhauli Hills in Bhubaneswar takes you to the site of the Vishwa Shanti Stupa. The dome structure of the Shanti Stupa possesses five umbrellas and they symbolize the five essential parts of Buddhism. We visited here many times . Am sharing some of pics of this historic place 👍
