Best stops along Maringa to Curitiba drive
The top stops along the way from Maringa to Curitiba (with short detours) are International Friendship Bridge, Igapó Lake 1, and Parque Vila Velha. Other popular stops include Guartelá Canyon, Parque Histórico de Carambeí, and Londrina Metropolitan Cathedral.
The International Friendship Bridge is a 1,812-ft.-long arch bridge with a pedestrian path that connects the cities of Foz do Iguacu in Brazil and Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. It symbolizes the union between the two countries and was constructed during the 1950s and 1960s over the Parana River. The bridge links Ciudad del Este to Foz do Iguazu and also shares a border with Puerto Iguazu in Argentina.
Easy to find a way to cross the bridge. Just uber close to it, and the signs will show “Pedestre”. Asked Imigration if its okay to walk, no problem.
M?ris Jankovskis — Google review
I took an Uber to the bridge which cost me £3. I walked across the bridge with no problem. I’m a single middle-aged female on my own and no one troubled me. I did a little shopping and I came back again. I didn’t even make a stop at immigration nobody seemed interested. No problem. I got a cold beer near the bridge and I ordered an Uber back to my hotel, which cost me £2. I was advised to use the buses I didn’t get on with that because I couldn’t figure out which bus or how to pay
Maria Brown — Google review
It was build in 1965 connecting Brazil to Paraguay. I do not advice to cross it on foot way too dangers You'd rather take a van in some local agency in Brazil and go with others, much safer that way.
Rodrigo Rahmeier — Google review
As a person that lives in the frontier and has passed this bridge countless times I will leave some tips for people that are visiting: (updated again!)
1. The bridge is not unsafe (and the cities aren't also) but you still have to pay attention for pickpockets. Doesn't mean you will find one but better to be precautious like you would in any big city. I would also add that right after Paraguayan customs there are a lot of men trying to give people pamphlets or flyers about certain stores, I personally wouldn't take those nor pay attention to them, be safe and just ignore them and go to the store you wanted to go (see number 11 too).
2. As pedestrians we do almost the same thing that cars do on the road. If leaving Paraguay by foot, you go from customs (Shopping del Este side) to the same side of the road until you get to customs of Brazil, if you are retourning to Paraguay you have to come back on the other side. When on the hallway of the bridge, we usually walk on the right so people that are in a rush can pass by the left.
3. There's no need to go to either customs if you're just going to do some shopping in CDE and go back or viceversa with Foz (read Acuerdo entre Paraguay y Brasil sobre Localidades Fronterizas vinculadas (ciudades gemelas)). If you're travelling further in either country you need to go to both customs (Aduana) BY YOURSELF.
4. If you want to take a good look at/take a picture of the bridge, it's even better on your way from cde to foz as they have an overlook to the bridge right after the bridge and on the way to brazilian customs (pay attention to your right after the end of the bridge, walk up some small steps and you'll find it).
5. Bring a hat or something to cover your head from the sun because the roof doesn't cover much, you can still see the sky. The roof and the barricades (?) are anti-suicide protections that they put up a few years ago, but in terms of rain and sun it doesn't protect much. Use sunscreen, a hat and bring a bottle of water with you to drink. It can be too hot or too cold (if windy).
6. If you pass to either side by bus or by car it can be fast sometimes but other times the road is too busy and you can be there for hours. Even though the problem is not in the bridge itself but the problem is the traffic before reaching the bridge from both sides. You can check that by searching "Ponte da Amizade camara" in google.
7. If you pass by bus the price is 12 reais or 15.000 guaraníes, goes back and forth in both countries every now and then. In Paraguay you can get in the bus at the terminal de buses or wherever downtown, goes to Brazil until TTU (Terminal de Transporte Urbano) and Rodoviária. Doesn't stop in the Aduanas (Customs) in case you need to make your entry.
8. There are also "paseros" that can make you get to the other side faster and for a little bit cheaper (some) but you have to ask until which part of both cities they go (probably not outside downtown side).
9. There are places where fakes are sold in Ciudad del Este, but it's not just that. There are many official stores of International brands or where they are represented, for example: Shopping China, Monalisa, Nissei, Shopping Paris, SAX, Atacado Games, Mobile Zone, Mega Shopping Importados, Tokutokuya (Asian foods and goodies especially from Japan).
10. Currency used the most is US Dollars but you can also use Reais or Guaraníes in stores, check if buying in dollars is the best option for you, it usually is.
11. People Are going to try to drag you to theirstores, they will talk to you some sweet things to lure you to buy their products; if you don't want any of that just say Gracias and make a "yes" motion with your head at the same time, that's all.
12. People in Ciudad del Este speak spanish, guaraní and portuguese (especially those that work downtown), if you speak english only it might be a little more difficult to find someone to speak with you but we are working on that! :P
I will keep updating if I notice some other things are missing here!

The wait line of cars on the bridge was only about 10 - 15 minutes. Nice view and so impressive how to nations worked together to build this. The water wasn't clean though.

A bridge full of traffic! If u wanna pass u can walk ~15min or take a Scooter, but attention the taxi-scooter driver are driven crazy 🙈
(I paid 6real for that trip^^)
Both immigration are also on that bridge for ya Passport (but nobody will control you so u have to do it if u need it)

To be fair, it is nothing special, but yet it is somehow. Where else can you just walk over the border. Might be also quicker than in a Taxi.
Tim Opitz — Google review
Getting checked out of Brazil was a little complicated, but then walking across the bridge was no problem. Arriving in Paraguay was not complicated.
The view of the river from the bridge was nice.

Very nice view when you walk there. If you are passing by car and you need to get Visa, its a bit tricky to find the parking. But there is parking available for that purpose.

The Londrina Historical Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Londrina, Brazil. It has life-size dioramas of important events in Londrina's past, as well as a steam locomotive. It's free to enter and is a must-see for anyone visiting Londrina.
A very well preserved museum, displaying the history about the evolution of the city of Londrina. It also houses a “real” steam locomotive which just doubles the charming antiquity of the place. They also organise art exhibitions in the museum which are enlightening and thought provoking.
If you are in Londrina and are a museum/art gallery lover, you should definitely visit this gem!

The Londrina Metropolitan Cathedral is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It's big and has lots of seating, making it the perfect spot to attend Mass. Salto do Apucaraninha, an awe-inspiring natural wonder, stands tall at 119 meters in height. Despite its remote location, approximately 25 kilometers of unpaved road must be traversed to reach this majestic waterfall. The journey takes visitors through the heart of an indigenous village and grants access to a restricted area owned by Copel. Nevertheless, all entrance routes remain accessible to the public without any restrictions.

On a high part of the road there is a beautiful view of the sunset...

The road is good, half dirt and cobblestone.
There is a way to get very close to the rock jump and for a more panoramic view, there is a viewpoint.
If you want, you can go down the street where it is
owned by Copel but they let you in to visit the waterfall from below.
But the path is not easy but it is not impossible. 1km walking between rocks and bush to get under the fall. This is the view in the photo!

Caso queira poderá descer a rua onde é

To catch the sunset you need to arrive a day early and sleep somewhere in the region (the places are simple, but quiet). You need to wake up at 4 am to get to the start of the climb. The road is horrible and will destroy your car. If you have a low car, be careful, I lost a tire there. Then it's a 60-minute climb, including stairs fixed to the rocks, something that can be difficult for those who don't play sports or have limited mobility. Up there the view is spectacular. The photos are top notch. We went with a guide and you can take a drone there. We found the descent more difficult than the ascent. The best times are at sunrise or sunset. Outside of these periods you will lose the best view.

Reconstructed colonial village & farm with exhibits on early 20th-century Dutch settlers in Brazil.
Wow! This place is really beautiful and quiet, The restaurant is in front, meaning you can eat in the restaurant without entering the 'Park' you only have to pay the entrance fee when you enter the park.
The restaurant really have a good food, and the space in the parking lot is big.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful Cathedral in the square right in the center of Ponta Grossa. Official website with description. In 1823, after Ponta Grossa became a Parish, it was necessary to build a chapel, as the altar that existed in Casa de Telhas was no longer adequate to serve the Parish. The highest location in the city was then chosen for the construction of a simple chapel, to house the Image of Sant’Ana. Around 1863 the church, which had no towers or side aisles, was expanded.
In 1906 there was a need to build a new church, this was designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Ferigoti, attracting attention due to its different style and also because it could be seen from several locations, as it was at the top of the hill.
In 1978, the demolition of the Cathedral began, and a new one was built in the same location, with a more modern style.

Completely not worth the money. It's very expensive (2 tickets: +200 reals). There are rules everywhere, everytime you leave the shuttle bus there is a guide reminding rules, you can't really feel freedom.. don't get me wrong - it's a nice place, well maintained and the nature is beautiful, but too much expensive
Katarzyna Szewczyk — Google review
Very impressive! A half-hourly bus takes visitors to a nearby starting point for the sandstone columns where a walking path of just over 1 km takes you along the open front of the sandstones. You can then either take the bus back to the visitor centre or, as I did, walk back behind the stones through the forest for about 2 km along an up-and-down patched path back to the first bus stop. But don't take the bus back - there is a lovely 1 km grass path back to the visitor centre. There are also other attractions such as a sunken lake (furnas) via another bus. There is paid parking for R$20 and an entry fee of over R$100, with the usual half price discounts mandated by law for the elderly, pregnant, disabled and certain other groups.

Confeitaria Kliewer Ltda. ME, also known as Backstube Kliewer, is a delightful cafe offering a peaceful and enjoyable dining experience. While the brunch options on weekdays are limited, everything is skillfully prepared. The dessert selection is particularly outstanding and definitely worth trying. Although the savory dishes are good, they could be improved upon. On weekends, the menu expands with more choices that further enhance the dining experience at Witmarson.
Excellent place to taste some special Germany Dishes. The environment is very welcoming, you can have your meal from both inside and outside the confectionery, in a very organized and beautiful environment. Nature is the star. The place is well kept, clean and tidy. Prepare for long walks in the Atlantic rain forest, you can breath the heavy dense air under the trees, real thrill. If you're lucky you get a glimpse of some wild animal. Missed signs with maps to help you around, easy to get lost. The restaurant is just a cafeteria with snacks. The water in the pool is very cold, but you can go at any time as there is plenty to do, trails, contemplation, animals (monkeys, birds), waterfall and barbecue areas (To get a barbecue you have to arrive early). I called the day before and received very good service and everything was explained to me clearly. The place opens at 7am and in high season like I went you have to arrive before opening if you want an individual barbecue area of which there are only 15. Collectives have several. Another option is to bring your own as there are lots of lawns and trees, the place is very nice for picnics too. There is a restaurant, but I didn't get to try it, the beer is expensive... 8 reais for Amstel, but in my opinion they should not be allowed to bring alcoholic drinks if they were only available for sale there, as there are some who overdo it and spoil the fun. collective.

Lugar excelente! Vale a pena chegar bem cedinho e passear pelas trilhas. Eu liguei no dia anterior e fui muito bem atendido e me explicaram tudo certinho.

(Translated by Google) Excellent example of a building of historical value. Theatro São João should be a must-see for tourists going to Lapa. An explanatory film about the Siege is shown there, and then there is a speech by the local employee. It is important to go there to see the exit point of the famous tunnel that connected the theater to the neighboring house, through which members of the army could leave without going straight down the street. It is possible to see the open floor in one of the first boxes on the left of the Prohibited. Apart from all this, it is very important to absorb the local architecture, period finishes and plant layout. Congratulations on the site maintenance work.

Historically, the building served as the barracks of the 2nd Brigade during the Federalist Revolution (of 1894) and in the main room of the house, the city's Act of Capitulation was signed by Colonel Joaquim de Rezende Correia de Lacerda, acting commander of the legalist forces after the death, in combat, of General Gomes Carneiro.

I also found it interesting that visitors use slippers to do not scratch, dirty or damage the floor.

Show!

Great place to hangout on a hot summer day, water didn't seem to be dirty at the adult pools, but the kids area was not so clean. The day I went wasn't necessarily crowded, I've heard it can get pretty packed. I give it 3 stars just because of the food options, it's very limited to very unhealthy options. If you're vegan like me, all you can eat there are the fries (be sure you ask without cheese or else they'll put cheese even though it's not in the menu). Parking was not an issue, but it wasn't free.

Very nice park. The only park at the city, it has a museum inside that you can visit . Is a Polish memorial and you can see a lot of tools they used when they came here to Araucária. The rest of the park is OK and you can exercise, have a picnic and enjoy the view.
