The Saint Peter Cathedral, established in August 1755, holds the distinction of being the oldest church in Rio Grande do Sul and along the Laguna (SC) to Montevideo (Uruguay) region. Operating as a parish from 1756 onwards, this historic cathedral has served as a prominent center for religious worship and social gatherings within the city of Rio Grande. Situated at the heart of a burgeoning settlement, it has played a pivotal role in fostering faith and promoting communal interaction.
In August 25, 1755 was born the oldest church of Rio Grande do Sul and also the oldest since Laguna (SC) to Montevideo (Uruguay).
In 1756 the Matriz de São Pedro starts its parish life with the administration of the sacraments.
Rooted in the center of the recent and newest settlement, the Church would play a leading role as focus radiator of faith and concentration element of sociability in the city of Rio Grande.

The Public Market of Porto Alegre is a great place to buy local produce and try out the different culinary delights the city has to offer. With 110 merchants selling art, crafts, snacks and more, there is sure to be something for everyone. The market gets busy at night so it's best to visit during daytime hours when it's less crowded.
Lovely old fashion building done in the format of many european markets with lots of well stocked stalls from the mundane to great delicatessen. Worth a visit plus make sure after this you walk towards the river where you can take catamara to Barra Shopping or to Guati for just over 10R or else an hour trip looking at all tourist sights with a different company for 30R cash or 35 if you pay with credit card. Either worth making the time to do as gives you a unique perspective of this gorgeous clean air city.

It's an ok park, suited for young families with the monorail, photo opportunities with festive statues, a foam snow blower to excite the kids, and plenty of gift shops.
The constant Christmas songs are mundane. My best part of the place was the gorgeous view out over the valley.
Would say is expensive for all that it is. Also why isn't Orkney on the outside flagpole with distances to destinations?

Real reindeers and a nice view of the valley are the only redeeming features in this very lame park. The Museum of Automobile is a car museum with an attached gift shop that features classic American cars from the 1920s and 1960s. The museum is dedicated to preserving Hollywood-themed vehicles from the era, and includes models from Cadillac, Buick, Ford, and Chevrolet. Wonderful displays of cars and wax similarities of people.

There are about 30 cars, all from the 1950s-70s period, so I'd say it's expensive at $90R for all it is. Would be idea to have waxworks of the Hollywood actors by each car to depict which movie the car featured in.
Got more enjoyment from listening to the Elvis music from the TV screens, and the pretty smile of the receptionist 😊

Mundo a Vapor is a unique destination for those interested in steam-powered machinery. The park features fully functioning miniature replicas of various machines, including trains, riverboats and factories such as paper mills, foundries and steel mills. One particularly notable feature is a life-sized reconstruction of the infamous 1895 train crash at Montparnasse station in Paris.
This is a very good museum. The price of the tickets is fair. It was an amazing experience, for they recreated steam powered machines in a small scale, and it is great to see the machines working and the improvement in our technology and process of manufacturing things! Really recommend it!

There are very few attractions in Gramado and Canela that have any information available in the English language - either a piece of paperwork or anyone who speaks English. Mundo a Vapor gave us an incredible personalised tour entirely in English, with only 5 mins waiting time. It was more entertaining than I expected, they have different machines explaining how the steam systems works and how we evolved some engineering processes. It was fun to know more about the old way of doing things.
Pedro Manuel Torres (pcdro) — Google review
Mediocre at best, and on top of that they charged me the wrong amount for something I bought inside (44 instead of 14) and only later I noticed, when it was too much trouble to go back there.
Aleatory Guy — Google review
There's lots of museums in gramado but not many to actually worth to visit. this place is popular museum in gramado. good to know vapor system in 1900's. It was also interesting in the train, haning and through out the wall, is real incident in Paris in 1980's.
Maria K — Google review
Museum themed on the age of steam. The locomotive hanging out the front of the building is replica of an actual railway disaster which happened in Paris in 1895.
There is a mini train ride which last 3 minutes, several displays of traction engines how they transformed agriculture and industry from horse power to relying on steam driven engines to operate heavier load.
You can get dressed up in antique clothing for an old fashioned photograph.

The Catholic Church in the town of Canela, is a beautiful and imposing Gothic style church which took 16 years to build. The main attraction of the church is its impressive height of 65 meters, which makes it one of the main attractions in town. The only other real draw for tourists in Canela is the catholic church - making it a great choice for travelers who want to explore a unique city experience.

Praça Matriz, 69 - Centro, Canela - RS, 95680-000, Brazil
Caracol Park is a state park that offers easy access to a 130-meter high waterfall, Caracol Falls, without the need for hiking or dirt roads. The location is about a 10-minute drive from Canela's city center and has various attractions like artisan shops and the Estacao Sonho Vivo train ride that narrates the region's history. Aside from the waterfall, visitors can also enjoy scenic views from a tower and cable car ride.
Beautiful place to spend the day with nature. We saw a hummingbird and a toucan and had a wonderful time hanging in the hammocks and viewing the waterfalls.
Emily T — Google review
Beautiful view across the valley towards the waterfall. Make sure you go early or by 10:30 you will have over hour wait in the queues.
The Amazing Adventures of Alan Aim — Google review
Like many things in Gramado/Canela, the Caracol Park is overpriced. R$75 for an adult or 90 with the mirador. Add to that parking (30) and if you want to do the little train inside (hard to avoid with kids) it’s another 20.
The views are nice, and compared to other things in the area it’s not a complete rippoff, but it’s too expensive nonetheless
It’s not accessible like they claim. If you’re on a wheelchair forget about it. If you’re with a stroller, prepare for a treat: the gravels uphill are a delight!

A nice park, but less interesting since it's privatization. Focus has shifted much more to the commercialization of the park over the beautiful natural environment.

Ok, I liked the views and the short trails, but the place has become a tourist trap. They make you pay for parking and entrance separately and it is not cheap by Brazilian standards. Go in the morning and you'll have a better view of the waterfall (and shadows behind). The trails are easy, but my 80 yo father was struggling as they are not all paved.
Alex Zepka — Google review
Very nice park with waterfalls and wild animals. It is a perfect place for you coming with your family for a happy day. However, remember that this is a touristic place. So, if you don't like crowded places, it is better you come during the weeks days, in low season periods.

I would give a five star if it wasn't for the entrance ticket price.

The falls are quite impressive but this is a expensive touristic attraction. You can't get close to the water and you have to pay extra if you want to access the best spot to have a picture of yourself with the falls

The campground Camping Passo da Ilha is managed by reliable and friendly individuals. They provide a pleasant camping spot with tarp tents capable of accommodating 3 or 4 tents within each structure. Some of these structures even include additional amenities such as a minibar and stove, although these come at an extra cost. It is important to note that reaching the campsite requires traveling along a 14 km dirt road.

(Translated by Google) Very beautiful place, but the camping is very precarious and expensive for the conditions. Bathrooms are pretty bad. Weak bar and expensive daily rate for what it offers, depending on arrival and departure times, you pay half a night. It's worth it for nature. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it looked like there had been a party, cans and bottles everywhere, when I left on Monday the trash was still there.
The horrible campsites spoil the look of the campsite, old and dirty tarps set up everywhere, with vinyl canvas flooring from advertisements. Terrible.

One of the wonderful beach in South Brazil. I enjoyed the calmness and beauty of the beach
Canion Malacara is a must-visit tourist attraction located in the Serra Geral National Park. It offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in natural pools of crystal clear water. The trailhead is 5 km away from Praia Grande in Santa Catarina and just over 25 km from Terra dos Canions. To reach the pools, visitors need to cross the canyon fissure and navigate around rocks to access one of the biggest pools within the park.
If you have experience with simple trails you dont need to go with a guide. BUT. you need a good gps. I used the garmin 66sr NOT a phone gps. There is no signal. Its hard to find the trail sometimes, especially when crossing the river. Snake protection is recommended and dont touch anything. Go long sleeved, and with long pants, vegetation is dense. Families or non biologists, I strongly recommend a guide. especially if there is rain its dangerous quickly so you need to be able to ‚read‘ the sky and weatherforcast.

Other important ones are mentioned: Leone Di Venezia, Monte Agudo, Villagio Basseti, Vivalti, Quinta da Neve, Villagio Conti and Pericó. He has already won several national and international awards.
It produces rose wine considered the best national wine in this category. Created by businessman Manoel Dilor Freitas, it is currently managed by his children.
A must-visit for anyone who tours the region. You can take a guided tour of the cantina at a cost of R$75.00/person (price as of August 2023), where the various stages of winemaking are shown. In a projection room there is a video presentation about the company and, along the way, a winemaker gives some explanations about the winemaking process. We also visit the place where the wines are stored in barrels and oak barrels and finally in bottles.
There is the possibility of wine tasting in the cantina bar, which is very well decorated. At the entrance there is a large room for displaying works of art, an art gallery. Generally with exhibitions and sales of canvases and other works. Finally you can buy wines produced by the wine company. Surrounding the cantina are protected vineyards, very well managed.

Waterfall Bride's Veil is a charming bed and breakfast located in a national park, offering simple accommodations and a restaurant with picturesque views. It is conveniently situated along the route to Morro da Igreja, making it easily accessible from the main road. Visitors can enjoy close proximity to the stunning waterfall, where they can admire its beauty and the tranquil flow of the adjacent river. While the area may become noisy when crowded, it still offers a peaceful and scenic environment for leisurely walks.
Worth the visit without a doubt! It is on the way of those who are coming-going from Morro da Igreja and the access is close to the main road.
It is possible to get close to the waterfall, to contemplate its beauty and the calm of the water running along the river beside. The place is a bit small, if there are a lot of people it can make the visit a little bit noisy and unpleasant.
It is necessary to pay a small conservation fee (so to speak) and besides the waterfall, also has restaurant, snack bar and the most diverse souvenirs and products for sale.

Nice place to stay for few hours. Tirolesa looks so scary as it looks like a bit weak.

Went there to see the waterfall and ended up eating at the restaurant. The waterfall itself is a nice, but quick view. The restaurant serves simple but tasty food. It is a bit expensive, 28 BRL to eat as you can

The waterfall itself is not that big, but the facility offers many other attractions.

Farol de Santa Marta is a picturesque lighthouse situated amidst sandy beaches and dunes, renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views from the top. It's an idyllic destination to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. However, signal reception may not be reliable in some areas due to its remote location. The village itself is quite petite with limited night-time activities, but there are stunning beaches nearby that can be accessed via short trails.
The village didn't change much in the last 10 years, which - for me - is positive. I love the atmosphere. The lighthouse is somewhat nostalgic. If you're lucky, the Cardoso beach will surprise you with nice waves and crystal clear water.

Spectacular view from the top of the hill where the lighthouse sits. You have to park your car on the street and walk up a trail to the top of the hill , but it’s and extremely easy walk without too much inclination. It was summer when we went, so flowers were blooming and butterflies where hovering all around. This is a fascinating location for birdwatchers given the variety of birds flying around the trail. Once at the top of the hill and facing north, there’s is a stunning view of an old cemetery overlooking the ocean and a sand dune covered beach. Facing west, you are directly about the beach and town of Santa Marta. And East, is obviously an open view of the ocean crashing upon rocks. The lighthouse was closed, but even so, the view is worth the short hike up.

Great place for a city escape. Signal reception is not good, non existent in some places. The village is really small, with not much to do, specially at night. There are great beaches to visit, some accessed through short trails.

A very privileged view of the ocean, the Lighthouse is an unmissable tourist spot. The surrounding beaches are excellent.

An antique lighthouse that long ago functioned with whale oil.
Beautiful and well-maintained, with bright white paint. The reason I only gave 4 stars was due to faulty directions, Google deposited us next to a cemetery. A couple of locals told us we could get to the lighthouse from there, and we found a section of fence missing and a small footpath twisting among cactus and tall grasses and weeds. Once we arrived at the lighthouse we pivoted and saw a sign behind us warning that venomous snakes were in that area. The area we had just crossed. Now we had a snake-infested field between us and 12-yr-old and our car. We couldn't shout a warning to our kid because of the wind and waves, but fortunately he didn't try to follow us.
Anyway, I'm going to try to suggest a different route, but if you end up next to a cemetery, don't walk through the plants to get to the lighthouse!
