The place deserves at least two visits - one during the day to enjoy the experience in full daylight and one in the evening, when the lights are on highlighting the details. Good time is the time of evening prayers and taking the Holly Book to sleep at around 10 p.m. During the day it is worth to visit the place with a local guide who will show you places that otherwise you would miss or have no idea that you could visit like the kitchens serving 40 to 50 thousand meals each day... And you enjoy that beautiful place free. Unfortunately taking photographs in the temple is strictly forbidden - pictures only outside...

Experience the positive energy here. Nice & beautiful surrounding. Few things that can be helpful for you if you're visiting here first time :
Submit your shoes on outside counters, cover your head, dont take any battery/Power Bank inside & lastly take photos with precautions.

Even after going there, it doesn't feel like we have reached here, it looks more beautiful in the evening, the light around and the gold shining from the lake, it looks like a dream, this place is a symbol of peace, tranquility and community. , cleanliness is also taken special care here, it is also true that people who come here pray for their well-being and it is fulfilled, it is open 24 hours and food is also available 24 hours free for all passengers. So I will say that we must come here at least once in our life.

Undoubtedly, this is the main attraction of Amritsar and a must visit place. Whatever is your religion, you are be welcome inside. This place is definitely going to make you calm, you have to feel it yourself, no word can describe it. Few things to keep in mind while visiting the temple :
1. Try to arrange an accommodation close to the Golden Temple, so that you can visit the temple early morning and late evening.
2. Being the main attraction, this place can get reao crowded, keep that in mind.
3. You need to cover your head, put off yours shoes and wash your feet before entering.
4. They have the baggage counter inside the temple, you may deposit your bag there

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is an iconic Sikh religious site and a must-visit destination. It is a place of profound spiritual significance and architectural beauty. The stunning golden structure is surrounded by a serene and picturesque lake, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.
The temple complex is open to people of all faiths and offers free meals to visitors, showcasing the Sikh principles of equality and selfless service. The interior of the temple is equally impressive with its intricate artwork and gilded walls. The atmosphere is often filled with devotional music and a palpable sense of spirituality.
However, the temple can get crowded, almost daily and especially during religious festivals, so it’s advisable to visit during quieter times for a more serene experience. Overall, the Golden Temple is a unique and spiritually enriching place that is well worth a visit for its cultural, religious, and architectural significance.

Long queue but absolutely worth the wait. I loved it here, had a good spiritual experience. Generally temples are all commercialized in India but not this one, we weren't asked to pay even a single penny anywhere. And enjoyed the yummiest langar. Punjabis do have a big heart.

Beautiful experience in the holiest Sikh place. We visited at night (~9 pm) to witness the “putting to bed” ceremony and it was amazing . We also visited the kitchen and seeing the amount of people eating there was quite extraordinary. Keep in mind you need to take off your shoes and socks to enter the temple, but it is quite clean. If you enjoy this kind of place it is worth coming to Amritsar just to see this temple . The temple is very beautiful 😍
Bhoopendra Mewada — Google review
Smooth flow inside (entry into the main worship area does have a very long queue however) and stunning views. The temple has a beautiful philosophy of welcoming all and I encourage all to take it up.

It would be wrong to evaluate the place of this spiritual Guru because the Guru's house is the house of greatest peace and happiness and prosperity, there he is the house of peace and ending the restlessness of the mind. After going there, I felt that God was with me in such a way that I was not worried about any reason, I was just so engrossed in having darshan that I did not even realize that I had seen God with my own eyes.

A very splendid fort with a deep historical significance.
It is supposedly the largest fort in the region and gives a splendid view overlooking the river from the top.
Although heavily damaged by the earthquake of 1905, it still stands strong and is a must visit place in this region.

Kangra Fort in Himachal Pradesh is a historical marvel that I recently had the pleasure of visiting with my brother, Rugved. The moment we stepped foot into the fort, we were captivated by its grandeur and rich heritage. The awe-inspiring view from the fort's vantage points is nothing short of breathtaking. It offers a panoramic sight of the surrounding landscapes, with rolling hills and lush greenery spreading as far as the eye can see.
The fort itself is steeped in history, and the presence of ancient artifacts and architectural elements was a testament to its glorious past. Exploring the various sections of the fort, we were transported back in time, imagining the stories of battles, conquests, and royal lives that once unfolded within these walls.
One notable aspect that stood out during our visit was the number of foreigners who were also exploring the fort. The Kangra Fort seems to attract visitors from around the globe, drawn to its historical significance and stunning views. The diversity of cultures and languages we encountered added to the overall enriching experience of the visit.
The location of the fort on a hilltop adds to its charm. As we ascended through the winding pathways, the anticipation of reaching the top and witnessing the majestic view kept us excited throughout the journey.
In conclusion, the Kangra Fort is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a glimpse into the past. Its splendid architecture, rich heritage, and captivating views make it an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. I highly recommend a visit to this iconic fortress for a journey through time and an appreciation of the natural beauty that surrounds it.

I visited this fort today with my family. This mighty structure at the foot of The Dhauladhar Range holds so many stories/history of the past. We saw something similar at the Angkor Wat too. We are totally amazed to see how well it is maintained and protected by the Archeological Survey of India.
Historians and Archeologists will have so much to see and tell about this place. We travelled by road from Chandigarh, though the journey was long but this site is worth visiting. Every step you take will make you reminisce your history lessons.
The ticket is only Rs 25 and the washroom too is so clean and well maintained.

During my visit to Kangra visted this fort and the experience was amazing and enjoyed a lot inside the fort. The Kangra Fort is located 20 kilometers from the town of Dharmshala on the outskirts of the town of Kangra, in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The fort is well maintained and the view from the fort is also very beautiful as the fort is situated in the mountain region of india so it's different from the forts which are situated in the plain region. So overall it's a beautiful experience to be in this beautiful place. And it's a must place to visit if in Kangra or planning to be in Kangra.

The fort is in a dilapidated condition though the authorities are doing some restoration work. Do get to the top level of the fort to understand why this location was chosen for the fort. You will get a wide angle view of the surroundings including the river stream meandering through the valley next to the fort.

Kangra fort is first oldest fort in India, located in HP. It has very good sight to see with your friends and family. To reach there you should first come to Kangra bus stand after there you have to take another bus which is going to fort. The duration is around 20 min after you reach you have to walk to get inside.
After reaching there you have to take tickets for the fort after there you can explore.

This fort must have been beautiful in its own time. It's different from the other forts I have seen.
It's all shattered now because of earthquake in 1905. Be prepared to walk a lot. It has too many stairs and long ramps. View from the fort is beautiful. They provide an audio guide as well which is chargeable. Entry ticket is 20 per person but has to be online. Scan a code there, go to asi website and pay.
It is clean fort and has a temple inside.
There is a museum as well after stepping out of the fort which has all the belongings of fort. There is a history Lineage of all the ruling kings which is interesting. Museum also has an entry ticket of 35 per person and HE ASKS FOR CASH ONLY WHICH IS ANNOYING. Right next to museum there is a small cafe which has reasonable rates but again you have to pay back to museum person only and in CASH AGAIN.

This fort is really beautiful inside out. You can see the magnificent creations of the people who build the fort.
As you enter you can see some hindu gods and goddesses sculptures that faces have been damaged. The gates of the fort have been renamed after the Mughals.
As you reach top of the fort you can see the beautiful mountain range and the view from top is breath taking...
You can buy tickets online as well by scanning the QR on the counter.
Please note: if you buy tickets from counter of the fort its 25/-(INR) for foreigner its different.
If you buy tickets online its 20/-(INR), here you save 5/- per person if you go as a huge crowd.

Outside Kangra city… little connectivity issues are there. Autos from Bus stand, Kangra charge around ₹150-200, no bus service but it is highly recommended not to walk as roads are full of monkeys…ticket can be only booked online, there is no offline counter. Reach there and you will get QR code there from where one has to book tickets. Ticket price is ₹20.. overall fort is good but due to lack of any guide facility history lovers will not be able to enjoy it to fullest. There is one gallery at entrance from where one can get information of fort

Chamunda Devi Temple is a Hindu shrine situated atop a hill and renowned for its artificial pond that offers colourful rental boats. The temple honours Goddess Chamunda, a potent and favoured figure in Hinduism known for her fiery aspect manifested by Mother Durga to eliminate evil forces and safeguard the righteous. As the supreme goddess of the universe, Chamunda is a propitious form that blesses devotees with abundance, contentment, and prosperity.
Very well managed temple. The idol is although placed very far. Goid place to visit with family and enjoy the day with the splash of cold water gushing from the mountains. There's also a lot of fun rides and food stalls to top off. A lot of hotels and restaurants surrounding the temple for travellers. Ample space for parking as well. Overall a very good experience.

There is ample parking space available & washroom & cooler facility is available.
There are local shops outside the temple.
One can take a dip in the chilling cold river but must be careful as the flow is heavy.
It takes around an hour max to explore this place.

Very revered temple in this region and draws a lot of people.
We visited this temple during our visit to McLeod Ganj. It's little more than 1hr by cab.
There is very large scale construction going on so the prayer opportunities are bit less but nevertheless it's good we got here.
There is paid public parking available at the entrance.

A lot of improvement can be seen in the infrastructure of the temple a new building and a new garden has been created which makes it more beautiful. The Queue area has been renovated fully which can hold a large crowd with ease. Which makes devotees wait time easier.

This temple is a holy site and a must-see destination in the area. The tranquilly of the river's movement is evident. Parking spaces are plentiful, and restrooms and a cooler are provided. Outside the temple, there are local stores. It is possible to take a plunge in the icy river, but caution is advised due to the strong current.
A maximum of one hour is needed to fully explore this area. The temple is frequently crowded, but because of effective queue management, waiting times are short. Since it was recently refurbished, new gardens as well as restrooms and ample of parking were constructed right next to the temple.

The Chamunda Temple, currently under construction, has undergone a remarkable transformation in the last 2 years. The entire site is a hive of construction activity, signifying a promising future. Although the ongoing work may cause some inconvenience, it's evident that the temple's new avatar will be worth the wait. Notably, Mondays see a distinct lack of crowds, offering a tranquil experience. The ambitious renovation project promises a bright future for this sacred site, with the potential to become a remarkable spiritual and architectural marvel once completed. It's an exciting time to witness this temple's rebirth and evolution.

Goddess Chamunda in Hinduism is a very popular and powerful deity. This name represents the fiery aspect of Ma Durga manifested by Mother for annihilating the wicked forces from the face of this universe and to protect the virtuous and pious people. Representing the supreme goddess of the universe, Chamunda is a highly benevolent form blessing the devotees with all forms of wealth, happiness and prosperity. The name Chamunda ensues from the two demons Chanda and Munda who were killed by the Mother. 🙏

I recently visited this temple and I must say that it was a truly wonderful experience. The infrastructure of the temple is very well-maintained and clean, which is quite impressive. Additionally, the all-round police security adds to the overall feeling of safety and security for devotees.
The temple itself holds great religious significance, and you can feel the positive energy as soon as you enter the premises. One of the most interesting features of the temple is a small area dedicated to Lord Shiva in a cave-like temple. It's a beautiful and serene space that you'll definitely want to check out.
Another great feature of the temple is the river that flows through the campus, which adds to the overall beauty of the location. The temple also has a designated area for shoes, which is convenient for visitors. The ample parking space is also a plus point.
One thing to keep in mind when visiting this Mata Ji temple is that it can get quite crowded during festivals and special events. However, the temple staff does an excellent job of managing the rush and ensuring that everyone can enjoy their visit without feeling or rushed.

Shri maa Chintpurani temple is one of the most divine, serene and beautiful religious place situated in Himachal pardesh. It is one of the 51 shaktipeethas of devi durga. Chintpurni Temple is located around 80 km from Dharamsala. The presiding deity is Goddess Chintpurni, who is said to remove worries, and is represented by a pindi (round stone idol). Legend has it that when Lord Vishnu severed Maa Sati's body in 51 parts to end Lord Shiva's dance of cosmic destruction, the parts got scattered over different places in India. Considered one of the most important among 51 shaktipeethas, it is believed the head of Goddess Shakti fell at Chintpurni.
The place remains accessible throughout the year and is well connected by road.

Here are few tips for easy darshan:
Park the car in government parking place, take taxi that charge 200 per trip. Taxi drop point is gate no. 2.
Only taxis are allowed to reach at gate no.2.
Gate number 2 is near to the temple and with very less steps. It was very comfortable for MIL who has knees problem.
Right your feedback if you found this way for easy darshan.

Mata Chintpurni is a very popular temple in the Hindu community. A lot of people visit daily to seek the blessings of Mata Rani.
The temple is very well organized and the people management is amazing. There are two parking available and I would suggest parking your vehicle in the first parking which is the government one as the charges are quite low and you can get a darshan token from there.
The temple has started the lift, which wants to go directly in front of the darbar. The lift is free for old age people and handicapped people. But others have to pay a fee of 1100/- to avail of this service. Token for the loft is available is first parking only.

Ancient origin
When Lord Vishnu severed the burning body of Maa Sati into 51 pieces so that Lord Shiva would calm down and stop his Tandava, the pieces were scattered over various places in the Indian subcontinent. It is believed that Sati's head fell at this place and is thus considered one of the most important of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
The goddess residing in Chintpurni is also known by the name of Chhinnamastika. According to Markandeya Purana, goddess Chandi defeated the demons after a fierce battle but two of her yogini emanations (Jaya and Vijaya) were still thirsty for more blood. Goddess Chandi cut off her own head to quench Jaya and Vijaya's thirst for more blood.
She is usually shown holding her own severed head in her hand, drinking one stream of blood spurting from the arteries in her neck, while at her side are two naked yoginis, each of whom drinks another stream of blood.
Chhinnamasta, the headless goddess, is the Great Cosmic Power who helps the sincere and devoted yogi to dissolve his or her mind, including all the preconceived ideas, attachments and habits into the Pure Divine Consciousness. Cutting off the head suggests the separation of the mind from the body, that is the freedom of the consciousness from the material confines of the physical body.
According to Puranic traditions, Chhinnamastika Mata will be protected by Shiva – Rudra Mahadev in the four directions. There are four Shiva temples – Kaleshwar Mahadev in the east, Narayhana Mahadev in the west, Muchkund Mahadev in the north and Shiva Bari in the south – which are nearly equidistant from Chintpurni. This also confirms Chintpurni as the abode of Maa Chhinnamastika.
manvir stark — Google review
Chintpurni Temple is dedicated to Mata Chintpurni Devi who is also at times referred to as Mata Chinnamasta. Chinna means ‘without’ and Masta stands for ‘Head’.
Out of all the pieces, it is believed that Maa Sati’s head fell here, making it one of the most important Shaktipeeth. Mata Chintpurni Devi is a symbol of self-sacrifice and according to legend, she is protected by Lord Shiva in the four directions. As such, there are four temples surrounding the main temple. Kaleshwar Mahadev is present in the east, Narayhana Mahadev is found in the west, Shiva Bari in the south, and Muchkund Mahadev in the north.

A very beautiful and serene place. It's up on the hill. There are two ways to reach the top. One way where Cars can park beside the valley, have a steep climb. It's difficult for old-aged devotees. There is a washroom at the top but in a very bad condition and not maintained. Otherwise early morning darshan don't take much time. We had to purchase a ticket to be in the normal line.

The Bhakra Dam, constructed between 1948 to 1963 on the Sutlej River, is a remarkable feat of architecture and one of the tallest concrete gravity dams in the world. Tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of the dam from various vantage points accessible by bus or personal vehicle. To visit from Nangal, visitors must have a pass from PRO and provide Aadhaar Card details. Boating in the sparkling blue water is an added attraction.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable Bhakra Dam situated in Himachal Pradesh. This engineering marvel stands as a testament to human ingenuity and determination. Its strategic role in providing hydroelectric power, irrigation, and flood control has immensely contributed to the region's development and prosperity.
The sheer scale and grandeur of the Bhakra Dam are awe-inspiring, reflecting the dedication and hard work of countless individuals who were involved in its construction. It has not only harnessed the power of water to generate electricity but has also transformed arid lands into fertile fields, enabling agricultural growth and improving the lives of countless people.
As a symbol of India's progress and resilience, the Bhakra Dam is a source of pride for the nation. Its impact on the economy, environment, and local communities is immeasurable. Let us express our gratitude to this monumental structure that continues to serve as a beacon of progress and a source of sustainable development.

The dam is spectacular. You need to take permits from the local authorities to visit. There is an office at the checkpoint for the same. Also, while the signboard are displayed on the route, it is somewhat tricky to find the correct route. It is better to confirm with the locals on major turns.
Photography is not allowed at the Dam but there are a few locations before and after where beautiful pictures of the dam facade and the reservoir can be clicked.
If you are also visiting Nainadevi (20 km / 30-35 minutes from there), it is better to start at the temple and view the dam on the way back as the time needed for the dam is not too much.

Though you need a permit to visit the place and the good thing is that it takes only 5 mins to get it. The place has a wide significance in our country's growth.
The view of the place is mind-blowing and being there it's hard to believe that you are in India. The place is well maintained by the authorities. There you can have snacks and other amenities. However, you can also go boating in Gobind Sagar which costs approx 400/- Rs for 15 mins.

Bhakra Dam, built on Sutlej river is an example of architectural excellence, the view from the Bhakra Dam is so mesmerising and a treat to eye and biggest dam ever I have seen in my life. one can go via bus or personal vehicle. If you going from Nangal side, make sure to have a pass from PRO, few kilometres from Nangal on the way to Bhakra Dam, make sure you have Adhaar Card as well. And off course, don't forget to enjoy boating in shining blue water, singing "Aaj blue hai paani paani...." Be there atleast before 2:00 as closing time is 3:30 pm, however you can still have beautiful Dam pictures on the way to Naina Devi. Avoid late evening/night travel as this is single road with many diversions.

Amazing architectural excellence on Sutlej river!! You will surely love the view from the Bhakra Dam as its amazing. The greenery and cleanliness is well maintained. Camera and clicking pictures is prohibited there due to security reasons. The statue of Jawaharlal Nehru at the top of the hill is also good. If you going from Nangal side, make sure to have a pass otherwise they will not let you enter the museum. Also make sure you have Adhaar Card as well to pass the checkpost. Avoid late evening/night travel as this is single road with many diversions.
This dam is fully made by the concrete. There are two sides of the dam, one side is full of the water of the river Satluj and the other side is connecting the canals used for irrigation purpose and the hydropower plant for the production of electricity.

This dam is a very good place for children to roam. This is the biggest dam of India. Many people needed laborers to build this dam. The best part is this. There is a train coming to this dam in which no fare is charged. Due to being the biggest dam of India, the security here is very security arrangement. This is a big thing near the dam in which voting takes place. Here is a very good place for children to visit and for older people. There are many restaurants near the lake. That ji takes out fresh fish from us and that fish looks very good to eat. Do try it once. There are many greenery trees around the lake and there is a very nice environment which is good for good health by staying here every single night and there is Baba Balak Nath and Naina Devi temple to visit here. Permission is made before coming on time to come to Bhakra Dam.

From intricate exhibits detailing significant historical events to poignant displays honoring the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence, Virasat-e-Khalsa serves as a poignant reminder of Punjab's enduring spirit.
One of the most striking aspects of the museum is its meticulous maintenance. Every corner is flawlessly preserved, ensuring that visitors can immerse themselves fully in the experience without distraction. The Viceregal Lodge & Botanical Gardens is a historical place museum in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. The lodge was built in 1888 for British viceroys and it now houses the government offices. It is an impressive Gothic-style building and it offers guided tours.
A beautiful monument to adore & go through the history which was well narrated by the Guide. The historic importance of building ranging from its construction, water harvesting system, first building to have electricity back in those days to Shimla Conference every detail is worth knowing. The building is been kept well maintained both internally & externally. The lush green gardens with variety of flowers can hold you forever and make a beautiful landscape backdrop.
The staff is very humble, helpful & polite.
Advice:
1) Be mindful if traveling with young kids.
2) Book your slot well in advance to avoid waiting else you can enjoy the scenic beauty in meantime.
3) Usage of camera is prohibited inside the building.

An exquisite piece of British Architecture in stone and wood. The Stone facades, and the wooden interiors are embellished richly without any room for complaint. There are several artifacts and memorabilia on display too. But only a portion of the ground floor is open to public, and the rest is off-limits. The first floor is entirely for scholars and students.

Mesmerising place. Beautiful monument inside and outside. It has so much of history within itself. So many old photographs and a guided tour which makes the experience more fun and interactive.
Inside hall is breathtaking all made up of teak wood.

When we visited there around 3, weather was normal, however as soon as we got the tickets, and we were about to join, rain started with hails and the roads got covered with layers of ice and the day and place got more beautiful. And due to this, we had to wait a lot to see this historical building but it was worth waiting. Now talking about the building, the building architecture is great.

Beautiful place and beautiful garden. You need to shed 30rs per person for garden and outside area.
Rs 200 ticket for both inside tour as well as garden area. Which is zero value for money in my opinion. Nothing to show, low maintained area with negligible information. Old valuable item are removed and only some pictures are added in each room to pass your time.
You can choose according to your taste.
A cafe with snacks and beautiful surroundings is a plus to visit this place.

A beautiful building with well manicured lawns and beautifully kept flower beds. You need a ticket to get in, even to see the grounds! Foreigners the ticket cost Rs500 including a timed tour of the house (you actually DON'T get to see that much). I enjoyed my little trip there and would recommend it!

The place is awesome to visit. If you are staying nearby victory tunnel or Old bus stand shimla, you can directly walk ad visit the place. You cannot get any bus or local vehicle to travel or you have to book a cab which will cost you approx Rs500 from old bus stand shimla. It is about 2.5KMs from victory tunnel. The site opens at 10:30AM and closes at 5PM. We were two people so we were charged Rs 200 for entry and guided tour inside the monument. The view of this place is amazing from outside and inside both. You are not allowed to take photos inside but you can click pictures from outside.

Built by British, used to be summer home for Indian President and now a center for advanced studies for few lucky. One of the must visit places in Shimla which has a rich history, is very beautiful and well maintained. There is a 15 min guided tour inside the Lodge every 30 min and each slot has limited quota. No photography is allowed inside the Lodge. Last slot is at 4.30PM as this place closes at 5PM. Guided tour along with access to outer area and botanical garden is charged 100/- for adults and 50/- for kids. If not interested in tour, visitors can pay 30/- for entrance. Recommend to have the guided tour at least once to witness the beauty of this marvellous wooden architecture from inside and know it's history. Vehicles can drop visitors at the fire station near this Lodge and go back to parking area below. Entrance tickets are bought at this fire station which is also used as a book stall and snacks area. Washrooms are behind this fire station.

The Viceregal Lodge in Shimla is a historic gem that offers a delightful experience for visitors. During my visit, I was amazed by the majestic architecture and beautiful surroundings. The lodge was once the summer residence of British viceroys, and its grandeur still shines through.
The exterior of the lodge is stunning, with intricate designs and lush green lawns that create a serene atmosphere. Inside, the lodge is filled with vintage furniture and elegant décor, transporting visitors back in time to the colonial era.
The guided tour provided fascinating insights into the history of the lodge, highlighting its importance in India's past. I particularly enjoyed exploring the grand ballroom, library, and dining hall, each offering a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the British elite.
The lodge's location in the midst of nature adds to its charm, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It's the perfect place to relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance.
While the lodge is well-maintained overall, there were a few areas that could use some attention to detail. Despite this, my experience at the Viceregal Lodge was unforgettable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shimla. It's a fascinating glimpse into India's colonial history and a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature lovers alike.

Absolutely beautiful garden
This is a fantastic walk from Mall Road, that if walking fast, you can get there in about 45 minutes. I would not suggest the walk for anyone that has mobility issues due to the steep inclines at times but man is it absolutely gorgeous the whole entire time.
A great place to take dates, or just go to sit and relax in the sun.
The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and Fantastic for photos.
Plus just 50 rupee (2023) to get in isnt bad.

Glad we visited. Beautiful building and nice gardens, with an interesting and important history for India.
Only dropped a star because of the odd tour format and not being allowed to take photos inside. Maybe change that, so it's no flash photography as otherwise I do not see the reason for it.

Rashtrapati Nivas Chaura Maidan Road, Near, Observatory Hill, Boileauganj, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh 171005, India
This is Christ Charch on Uporer Mall Road above Lakkar Bazar an immensely popular attraction of tourists throughout the year. A prominent landmark of Shimla and its silhouette is visible for many kilometres around the vicinity of Shimla city. Christ Church is one of the enduring legacies of the British Raj.It is the second oldest church in North India. Christ Church continues to be well maintained and is in relatively good condition. The clock's original mechanical mechanism has more recently been replaced with an electrical equivalent. However, currently whilst all 4 faces of the clock remain in synchronization, they rarely reflect the correct time.
The church contains five fine stained glass windows. One represents the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience, and Humility. It's a place where one can feel the beauty of nature and the popular picturesque landscape also named as '
The Ridge' of Shimla surrounding hills including Jako Hills, the Abode of the Great Hanumaan Temple's and its long portrait. In addition there will be another two legends whose portraits have been installed to remind us of their benevolent contribution for building our choice-able attraction in this part of Himachali Culture.

You can reach The Mall road, via lift in Shimla.
The mall allow tourists the view of shimla valley, shimla city and jakhu. The mall is host to world famous Gatey theater, City townhall, fire department, police post, multiple famous shops and cafes.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Chandigarh is believed to be the largest rose garden in Asia.
In addition to roses, the promotional literature says there are over 1000 varieties there, there are also several medicinal herbs, plants and trees. The roses are laid out in aesthetically designed flowerbeds, surrounded by beautifully landscaped areas interspersed with trees and flowering shrubs.
I couldn't see the garden in full bloom as I visited towards the end of March in 2015, after the Rose Festival was over, and many of the flowerbeds were being relaid for the next season.
There are some fountains towards one of the entrances, and a large wind chime.

I visited the rose garden in Chandigarh with my family last week. It is supposed to be the largest rose garden in Asia, but I was disappointed by the lack of roses. There were very few roses and they were not very colorful or fragrant. The garden looked more like a regular park with swings and slides for kids and a fountain for decoration. The only positive thing was that my son enjoyed playing on the slides and swings for an hour. I think the rose garden needs more attention and improvement to live up to its name and reputation.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is very nice and special place to visit in Chandigarh. The garden is very well maintained and you will be amazed to see the different varieties and colours of roses. To travel uphill there are various modes one of them is you get a government taxi for 20 rs person one way from near McDonald's/ brew estate . It's quiet a climb so do try stairs only if your are habitual to it . Even where the car leaves there is a little climbing from there and that too on unmade stairs . It is said that Lord Hanuman took rest here when HE was on His way to collect Sanjeevani booti for Lakhshmana. The Lord Hanuman statue is around 108 ft tall and can be seen from Shimla Mall Road & The ridge. It is a very serene place. When we reached Aarti was going on and a local woman (probably possessed) was doing the Aarti and at the end Pujari ji sprinkled Jal on her and she was screaming for a while then back to normal. Didn't get time to explore the story behind it due to crowd.
Pro Tip : Don't wear Sunglasses/ specs or any other valuable ornaments as monkey gangs are looking for it and they will snatch it and you wouldn't even know. Exchange it for the Prasada/Food 😁 Jay Bajrangbali 🙏

According to the Ramayana, Hanuman stopped at the location to rest while searching for the Sanjivni Booti to revive Lakshmana. A giant 108-feet-high idol of Hanuman was unveiled at Jakhu Hanuman temple on 4 November 2010. At 108 feet (33 m), it surpasses the statue of Christ the Redeemer, which measures at 98 feet (30 m), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cost of construction was Rs 1.5 crores. The public unveiling was officiated by Abhishek Bachchan.
The temple is accessible by foot, horse, taxi or ropeway. The Jakhu Ropeway is an aerial lift that links a point near the centre of Shimla to the temple. It was developed by Jagson International Limited and opened in 2017.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Jakhoo is located on the top of Jakhoo Hill in Shimla. It is an upclimb from the main road but vehicles reach up easily with some steep routes in between. It is easily navigable via Google Maps.
Legend says that Lord Hanuman has taken a halt at this point while returning back taking the Sanjeevani booti with him for Lord Laxman. It is believed the idol came out magically after he left the hill for his journey ahead.
It's a beautiful temple and the sunset here is magical. The premises of the temple are well maintained and a small parking lot is also made outside the temple for vehicles. The temple has a lot of monkeys and it is advised to keep your spectacles away while visiting as monkeys tend to snatch them for a barter for food. Due to the presence of monkeys, it's believed that the presence of Lord Hanuman is evident.
The temple is also home to 108 foot tall Lord Hanuman statue which is a sight to see. As you enter Shimla, it is clearly visible from afar.
The temple premises has a help desk as well for any queries and bhandaras are also organised frequently for the masses.
It's an unmissable iconic spot if you're visiting Shimla, highly recommended for your Shimla Trip.

Christ Church, Kasauli, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, earlier an Anglican Church, was built in 1853 and managed by Church of North India (CNI) since 1970. Built of dressed sandstone, the church has a cruciform floor plan. The fine-stained glass windows above the high altar depict the Christ on the cross. This central window is flanked by those depicting Joseph and Mary. A side altar has windows with Saint Barnabas and Saint Francis of Assisi. The latter is considered to be the patron saint of animals and the natural environment; not unexpectedly, the window here depicts him with doves at his feet. Complete with arches and buttresses, the church is Kasauli’s landmark and stands tall as you enter the town.
The distinctive church of the architecture includes a clock tower with a sundial in the front, main hall, cruciform floor, beautiful stained glass windows and an aisle which will lead to the beautiful altar sculpture, in which Jesus Christ is bound by Joseph and Mary. There are stained glasses over the altar image of Jesus Christ which depicts the Crucifixion where the image of Christ is flanked by those of Joseph and Mary.
Location: Right at the center of Kasauli; the town was developed around it.
Cleanliness: The area is maintained clean.
Parking: Near the multi level parking.
Overall, must visit once in your lifetime.

It's covered with nature from all sides and that's the best thing about. If you visit kasauli do come here. Church is nearby bus stand and mall road .

The Mall Road in Kasauli is one of the major attractions of this town. There are two parts including the Upper Mall and the Lower Mall.
The Upper Mall offers a few shops and eateries, but the most attractive factor about it is the beautiful views that it promises. The splendid scenic views and the rolling hills, coupled with a couple of historic monuments make the Upper Mall a must visit.
The lower mall on the other hand, is full of small shops and cafes, perfect to sit down and enjoy a few local dishes.
The famous Church is also on the mall road. From Mall road you can visit sunrise point, sunset point, monkey point. But either you have to walk down or take a local taxi. You cannot drive by your own car as private vehicles are restricted unless you hold permit to drive to these points.

It was our first visit there and it was very nice and pleasant to be there. Peaceful environment. Good to take photographs outside the church.
Caution: don't carry food items in your hands specially banana because of the presence of monkey and langurs that would increase their chances to attach on you. So, be careful.

Christ Church in Kasauli is a stunning and historic place of worship that has stood the test of time and remains an important landmark in the town's rich cultural heritage. Built by the British in the 19th century, this beautiful church is a perfect blend of colonial and local architecture and offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
The church's location, amidst the picturesque surroundings of Kasauli, adds to its charm and beauty. The serene and tranquil environment of the church is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the town, and the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys are breathtaking.

The Christ church near the entrance to the main parking lot of the heritage market is one of the oldest churches in the region. Simply looking at it gives you a feeling of how the area must have been in the 19th century, with the old rustic church architecture maintained to the present day.
It is on the same route that leads to Lover's Lane and sunset point. At the entrance itself, you can see that it was constructed in 1844. From the inside, the church is very well-maintained and beautiful. It has a comfortable sitting space with benches for people who wish to sit and pray.
The roof also has a beautiful chandelier, and the main altar is directly visible from the church's main door as well. The place becomes even more beautiful in the winter since it is covered with fog on the hilltop, and you can feel the old Venetian architecture inside—a must-visit place at Kasauli.

A nice place to visit on weekends... though the crowd of the tourists is way more than one can expect byt still its worth visiting if we get a chance... its architecture is of old times.

Beautiful church. So peaceful. Not much crowded even on weekend at evening time. Must visit when in kasauli. Take only 2 minutes to reach here from mall road. But if coming from some hotel, then the roads are lot crowded and better come before 4 in evening. The architecture is so mesmerizing. Line is not inside the church but on outer walls for pictures during sunset.

One of the old churches. We need to remove shoes before entering the main building.
You can experience peace and connect with God irrespective of your religion.
Purchase the candle(s) @ 10 rupees per piece to light candle while offering the prayer.
This is the Catholic Church. Baptist Church is 300 meters away after the mall road before the meditation point.

The place is absolutely worth the trail. The walk is about 3 kms and there are two roads leading to the same point. One is from the side of a hill on the edge, where you can see the rest of the valley and mountains . The other is from an inside road where cars usually go. They both meet at a road where you'll find a tuck shop , you can get a couple of snacks options and juice and water there. And then just about 500 mtrs ahead you see the sunset point. It has a couple of seating spots. If you're early, you can occupy one. The view is breathtaking and it gets pretty cold and windy (feels like under 10°) so make sure you carry a cap, or muffler and an extra layer to cover yourself. There's swings and a bathroom as well but it doesn't have running water. Could be a bit more maintained. Post sunset , it can get dark very quickly but the way back isn't lonely at all since many people walk back from there. The sky on your trail back turns into many hues of warm and cold tones. Spent hours here in this quaint and serene spot.

Sunset Point in Kasauli is a unique place. It's friendly for all ages to wait at, for the sun to set. The walk to the point is a trudge about a kilometer. It's worth it. Noticed that the sun doesn't set, it goes into the background and merges in the sky in beautiful colors yellow, orange, brown......extraordinary !!!!

Amazing experience of sunset here. The lights, shades, and colors that one experiences here are beyond words. Uncle's tea is a relief here after the long trek to this point. Reach a bit early to have a better viewing spot as it gets crowded around the sunset.
Washrooms could be cleaner as they are paid...elderly people would definitely enjoy the view but reaching there could be a challenge. If paid golf cart service can be arranged, then it would be great for them.
Request to all: Please do not litter this place as it is one of the cleaner places among sunset points.

It is a nice walk reaching to the sunset point. The views are amazing from here. There are some swings/Jhula for children. Public toilet is there which you can only find at this place only throughout Kasauli.

Its a nice walk up till the sunset point in Kasauli. Its a nice tourist place but to reach there you need to book taxi from Kasauli as your car is not allowed in cantonment area. Your car will be parked in the parking and you will have to walk till old Kasauli heritage Mall road. For sunset point as well as manki point you will need a local taxi which will charge around 300 to 500 rs for return fare. Sunset point is around 3 km from city centre and the driver will drop you at the starting point from where you have to walk around 500 mtrs which is a beautiful walk.

Try to reach there within 3:30 pm. Spend some time and then come back towards Sunset point. Awesome view. On return, you can visit Church & Mull Road (Heritage Market). Taste Bun Samosa at Narinder Sweets (Tannu). It’s different taste from normal samosa. You will enjoy.

This is more than just a lake with lots of fun things to do. For starters, there are several food kiosks with moderate prices and a wide range of selections.
Boating is the main attraction, and there are various alternatives available, including paddle, row, and shikhara boats. The view is spectacular, and there are various additional activities available, such as rock climbing and mini swings, to help you unwind. This is the most crowded spot in Chandigarh, yet it is also the most beautiful. You may unwind and enjoy the scenery while spending the evening with family or friends at a reasonable fee. The boating time is half an hour, but it was well worth it for a paddle with the choice of two or four people in a boat. This is a must-see place in Chandigarh.

Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is a sizable lake, and the best time to visit is in the evening when boating facilities are available. However, in windy weather, boating may not be available for safety reasons. The Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh weaves a magical tapestry of serenity and splendor. This picturesque man-made marvel, born from the vision of the great architect Le Corbusier, stands as a true oasis amidst the modern chaos of the city.
Imagine a place where time seems to slow down, and worries melt away like droplets on the lake's glassy surface. Sukhna Lake beckons you with open arms, inviting you to escape the mundane and embrace the extraordinary. The verdant foliage of the Shivalik Hills embraces you like a warm hug. The gentle breeze carries the faint melody of birdsong, setting the stage for a symphony of nature's finest performance. One can have an awesome view of the sunrise over there with cold Breeze and pleasant weather.
Majestic migratory birds from distant lands descend upon Sukhna Lake, transforming it into a vibrant aviary. They paint the skies with their grace, and birdwatchers and photographers alike are left spellbound by this feathery spectacle. As the sun dips below the horizon, the lake dons its golden cloak, and the air becomes infused with the aroma of camaraderie and laughter. Families gather for heartwarming picnics, children chase each other with gleeful abandon, and friends share stories that will echo in their hearts for eternity.

Most picturesque place of chandigarh Sukhna Lake is a reservoir at the foothills of the Himalayas. This 3 km² rainfed lake was created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. Originally, the seasonal flow entered the lake directly causing heavy siltation.
It has ample food joints in the food court, drinking water facilities, boating facilities (Rs 250 for 2 seater boat + 250 as security). Good for nature lovers.

I have been visiting this place for past 20 years and it still holds the charm. It brings peace and tranquility. Walking the entire track feels amazing while looking at the greenery on one side and the water with paddle boats and kayaks on the other side. It's one of the most inclusive public spaces I have come across in India. There are people running, walking, doing exercise, couples, elderly, kids and a lot more. Sukhna has something to offer to everyone. I prefer the Garden of Silence side as it's more peaceful compare to the entrance.
Monsoon is one of the good times as everything is lush green and the lake is full. Winter is also great as you can sit and relax on the toasty stone embankment or the grass and eat oranges and soak in the sun.
It's a place one must visit if going to Chandigarh.

Manki Point, also known as Sanjeevni Hanuman Temple, is a small Hindu temple located on a hilltop in Kasauli. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is home to many monkeys. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The temple was recently reopened after being closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Visitors are not allowed to bring cameras or phones and must deposit all bags at the check point before proceeding on foot.
So peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It is on peak of the hills of Kasauli.
You need to be fully vaccinated otherwise you won't be allowed to pass the security.
Phones, baggages, snacks and electronic devices are not allowed in there because of the increased cases of monkeys snatching these items.

1. Take a cab from kasauli market, it takes 10 minutes to reach there.
2. Its military area so you are not allowed to take any electronics gadgets even phone, smart watch, charger, airpods.
3. At entry gate you can deposit your phone and bag with charges.
4. After that they will give you ID card and ask for checking.
5. Its takes 15-20 minutes to climb only through stairs.
6. You can enjoy beauty of nature in minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hour.
Note - Only temple is there and canteen is also there at top.

To reach this point one can either get a taxi or walk from Mall road. It's around 4km if you want to walk and it's doable for almost everyone. Once you reach the main entry point, you'll have to show an ID card and deposit any bag and electronics equipment (smartphone/smartwatch/cameras) as most of the reviews mentioned. There is a small deposit fee (50 for a bag with 2 phones). From the main entrance you'll still need to walk 5 mins to reach the main stairway, from where you can get to the top. The view at the top is great but if you're unlucky (like me) and go when there's foggy weather you won't be able to fully appreciate it. The only flaw is that there's no decent food points in the whole complex. The closest one is on the Mall road.

The best view point I must say, the place was open after staying closed due to Covid. No camera or phones are allowed, we have to deposit all bags at the check point and then proceed on foot. A divine experience. It is approx 500 metres walk inside the Airforce Complex before you reach the base from where there is an approx 500 metres climb up the hill to the temple. The climb is steep but is not as difficult as some people sound in the reviews. There are enough benches enroute…. one can catch a breath whenever required and continue. It is a proper covered, concrete paved way, interspersed with stairs. There is a restaurant and a Prasad Shop on top. There are a few monkeys enroute but they are used to humans and do not disturb you….. but will grab any eatables…. so do not carry ANY eatables….. even the Prasad on the way down !! Apart from the divine experience, the view from top is breathtaking.

The temple is almost 2.5 kms from mall road parking. You can get taxis from the parking area, personal vehicles are not allowed. The taxis will cost INR 200 one side. You should carry a small bag with you to deposit your phone and smart watch at the counter.
There are staircases and ramp to reach the top. It's a good height of around 500ms to climb to reach the temple. You will take about 30-45 minutes to reach on the top.
You can buy Prasad on the top itself. There is a small shop where you can eat snacks but don't forget to carry cash because you will not have for phone with you and card doesn't work here.
It's quite windy at the top so don't forget to carry a stall or a light sweater based on the weather you can decide
The entry is till 1PM in the afternoon and than it reopens at 2PM. The temple is not closed just at the entry gate where you get passes these people are on lunch break.
It's advised to wear shoes because the stairs are Rocky and good distance to walk.
While coming back as well you can get taxis. Same INR 200 each side.
Be careful with the monkeys. Don't carry eatables which are visible to them. You can have something in your bag or pocket.
Overall It's a good experience

The legend says that during Ramayan, when lord Lakshman was injured and Hanuman ji was asked to carry sanjeevni for him, his one foot touched this mount top and hence people made a temple there dedicating to him.

A must visit if visiting Kufri, with friends or families, everything for everyone over here.
Can spend whole day. Lots and lots of activities to do. Has a huge parking area outside. Before entry you will have to buy activities. Which can be bought individually or in package.
Buying Package is more feasible.
Still quite expensive. As many rides/ activities are very small or half operational.
Like Car dash 4cars were only operational. For 12 people 15min wait.
Just imagine if 30 people are there then how much time is waisted.
Zip line was good experience.
Kids will surely enjoy this place.
Clean Toilets, eateries inside.

Overall, my experience at kufri fun world was nothing short of fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a day of fun and adventure. The dedication and hard work of your team truly shine through in every aspect of the park's operations. Once again, thank you for providing such an enjoyable experience. I look forward to visiting Kufri Fun World again in the near future and creating more wonderful memories. The most memorable park is Yak riding.

Not sure if we felt. But it was really an horrible experience for us.
First there was no snow, the time we went. We went in February. The place is heavily commercialised. Leaving very small routes for tourists to go. As we have to pass by those shops.
Nothing much in fun activities as well. As these activities are easily available in any resorts in metro cities.
One advice for goers. Better buy a pair of snow shoes which cost hardly 300 rupees. Else you will have to pay 200 rent for shoes in the entire Himachal trip.
Also it’s not necessary to take a horse ride here. People can trek in the same way as well as it’s not far car parking point.
Please for god sake don’t opt for photographer. One is the worst photographers can be found here.
Ajay Managaon — Google review
First there was no snow, the time we went. We went in December. The place is heavily commercialized. To reach this point you have to take a horse ride and the route is very pathetic scary and dangerous not for elders or people having disabilities. Nothing much in fun activities as well. As these activities are easily available in any resorts in metro cities.
Keerthan Gokhale — Google review
Nice adventure park, but while buying tickets, they showed many activities and told that you will visit many valleys and more, but in reality there were only 5 activities. And if you want to save yourself from long que then you should visit before 12 pm or in the mornings. On an average it was good experience. Horse riding was good, but always carry a face mask because of so much dust while horse riding. Enjoyed a lot with friends.
Pawan Kumar — Google review
This place is a super-scam. We were over- charged at the bottom of the hill & taken on horses to the top from where we had to walk quite a distance to a jeep. There we were made to climb into the back & stand while the jeep took us to the Kufri Fun world. Our bones were all rattled by the time we reached.
This is the highest in the world but nothing works here. We had to wait quite some time while they repaired the zip line & those who went ziplining, had to walk back to the starting point, while put off many of us. The rest of the activities were non-functional.
Again there was a long uphill climb back to the point where the horses wait to take us down.
Shopping is ideal for small woolen articles & cheap shawls.
U can click pics on yaks & holding furry bunny rabbits.
Avoidable trip if you aren't young

It was a wonderful experience with the horse riding, adventurous activities, having lunch, getting clicked and shopping in Kufri Fun World. There is no such garden as told by the guides. There are apple trees indeed. There is an entry fee, activity fee is add on. Pp it is 1500 currently with entry & 6 activities. Inside the garden you need to walk, if you can't they will offer jeep, which costs 200 pp. Avoid using it.

My visit to Kufri Fun World left much to be desired. The experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the high prices. From attractions to amenities, the overall value did not match the cost. Disappointing and not recommended.
Vrindha S Nair — Google review
This place is a scam. Do not buy their package which costs up to 10,000 rs. It's really not worth the money. Thankfully, my driver asked me not to buy that. The only thing I spent money on was a horse ride that cost 500/person (and is necessary because of the climb and is total worth) and another 500 for the adventure park entry which includes 2 activities. The view from the top is beautiful though.

Kufri is another tourist attraction closer to Shimla, nearly 16km away from the initial funworld with horse riding @₹500/per person and other fun enjoyment with other rates. We visited this place on 22nd October'23 via Shimla circular Road and Dhali Bypass and took the horse ride to reach kufri hills and ice skating areas. The time we spent was not enjoyable as clouds accompanying rain dampened our enthusiasm. However we arrived at the apple gardens and hill top to view other hills including Shimla and Narkanda hills. Nag Mata Mandir has been offered our prayer to get blessings.
There are other items for the children to sit up on the Chamri Cows with bows and guns.

The Renuka Lake popularly/ religiously referred to as the Renuka ji is located not very far from Nahan and Paunta sahab. We were disappointed to find the two different approaches to the Lake to and fro were NOT at all maintained and the "road" conditions were pathetic.
The boats were easily available which needed to be self operated. How I wish operators were also available and the surrounding roads could be manned by lake security to avoid any mishap.
Stay arrangements are also there. I am sure if there is a strong will the place could be further developed for more tourist attraction which at present seems to be driven more by the religious sentiments.

Braham Sarovar, as the name suggests, is associated with Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe. Taking dip in holy water of sarover during Solar Eclipse is considered equal to the merits of performing thousands of Asvamedha Yajnas. According to Local Legends this tank was first excavated by King Kuru the ancestor of Kauravs & Pandavas. Having seen its huge water body Abul-Fazl the courtier of Mughal emperor Akbar during solar eclipse has described the vast water body of this sarovar as miniature Sea. According to the local tradition a tower was erected by Yudhistar in the island situated in the middle of sarovar as a token of his victory in the Mahabharta battle. In the same island complex lies a ancient Draupadi kupa. The shrine of Lord Shiva located on the northern bank of the sarovar is called Sarveshwar Mahadev. According to the tradition, the Shiva Linga was installed here by Lord Brahma himself. Annual Gita Jyanti celebrations is held on banks of bramsarover in November-December.

Haryana Kurukshetra is a holy city with historic importance and famous for Brhma Sarovar & temples. Brahma Sarovar is a big water body that attracts Millions of people every year and is most crowded during the festive seasons.
I visited this place this August 2022. The Sarovar was big & clean. A partition was made in the Sarovar to indicate the safe side for bathing. However, good swimmers were jumping the other side and enjoying.
The hawkers can also be found selling food items around the Sarovar. Teams of local Police patrol the site every now and then to ensure the safety of the visitors.
The ideal time to visit the site is the evening, when this location becomes peaceful and calm.

Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra is not just a water tank; it's a sacred oasis steeped in myth and spirituality. Standing beside its tranquil waters, I couldn't help but feel the divine energy that emanates from this ancient place of worship.
In close proximity, the Birla Gita Mandir and Baba Nath's 'haveli' stand as testament to the spiritual richness of Kurukshetra. Each visit to these hallowed grounds reminded me of the deep-rooted heritage and profound beliefs that have shaped this land.
For me, Brahma Sarovar is more than just a sacred site; it's a place where time seems to stand still, where the heart finds solace, and where the soul feels truly at home. Every visit here is a journey into the depths of my own spirituality, a reminder of the profound connection between the divine and the earthly.
In conclusion, Brahma Sarovar is a jewel in the spiritual crown of Kurukshetra. Its beauty transcends the physical, touching the very essence of our being. To witness the magic of this sacred tank is to partake in a timeless dance of faith, nature, and divinity. I recently had the privilege of visiting the Gurudwara, and I must say it was a truly remarkable experience.
The Gurudwara's architecture exuded grace and grandeur, showcasing the rich Sikh heritage. The pristine white walls, adorned with intricate designs, created a tranquil atmosphere conducive to introspection and prayer.
The langar was an embodiment of selfless service and unity. The delicious vegetarian food was prepared with utmost love and devotion and the volunteers humility and dedication were inspiring.
The prayer hall was a sanctuary of solace. The melodious recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, accompanied by soul-stirring hymns, transported me to a realm of spiritual bliss. The ambiance was filled with devotion and reverence, creating an atmosphere conducive to deep contemplation.
I highly recommend a visit to this Gurudwara to anyone seeking solace, spiritual enlightenment, and a glimpse into the Sikh way of life.

This place is one of the key attractions of the city, and must say they have a strong internal control system and one can even stay there for the whole day without getting bored listening to 'शबद' .
You must have Langar prashad there specially Curry chawal and yes Yamuna view from the back side of Gurudwara is not something you'd want to miss.
One lesser star is for that area which is crowdy and without any maintainance outside of the gurudwara.
Some places are not just peaceful they are spiritually beautiful too and this place is one of them. LOTS OF LOVE for the Community..... ❣️

Got the opportunity to visit this holy place along with my family on a pretty cold Sunday in January 2023. It's located very near to the border of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It is said Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed here for more than 4.5 years and wrote many religious books. This place exhibits a few weapons and pens used by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Just like any other Gurudwara this one is immaculate and peaceful. Situated on the banks of Yamuna River, it offers a serene view of the riverbed and mountains. Must visit the ghat and the Hanuman Mandir located below.

Gurudwara Paonta Sahib is a revered shrine of the Sikh religion. This sacred shrine not only renders a spiritual comfort, but also offers us an insight into how Sikhism has sustained. The place got its name either from the fact that Guru Gobind Singh set his foot here or because he lost an ornament here that he used to wear on his foot.
As per stories, the Gurudwara was once visited by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth guru of the Sikhs. The Sikh Guru came to Sirmour on the invitation of the Raja Medini Prakash and was so impressed with the courtesy of the king that he decided to spend the next four years at Poanta and left a written account of his life in the kingdom, which he described as the happiest years of his life.
It is said that, once Raja Medini Prakash and Guru ji were exploring the place. On their excursion, Guruji was so much impressed that he decided to construct a camp on the bank of the river. Guruji laid the foundation of this holy city with his own scarred hands and named it Paon-tikka, which is known as Paonta Sahib today. As a token of respect and gratitude, Raja Medini Prakash decided to build a Gurudwara on the bank of Yamuna River. Before leaving the Gurudwara, Guruji fought many battles against some of the neighbouring hamlets.

Beautiful place. Very well managed and organised. Can be crowded during some days. Mostly crowded during the weekends. Beautiful river view at the rear. We had awesome langar. Car parking is also available which is free of cost. There are shop’s available outside as well for souvenirs. If coming from Uttarakhand side, then state entry tax needs to be paid at the barrier. Wahe guru ji ! 🙏🏻

Paonta Sahib is a significant religious and historical town located in the Sirmaur district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It holds great religious importance for Sikhs as it is associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru. Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent several years in Paonta Sahib and composed many Sikh religious texts, including parts of the Guru Granth Sahib, during his stay there.
Some key attractions in Paonta Sahib include the Gurudwara Paonta Sahib, which is a major pilgrimage site for Sikhs, and the Yamuna Temple, located on the banks of the Yamuna River. The town is known for its serene and picturesque surroundings, making it a popular destination for both religious and nature enthusiasts.

Surrounded by sal forest and on the banks of river Yamuna, the historic town of Paonta Sahib (350m) was founded by the Tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh. When only 16 years old, the Guru left Anandpur Sahib and on the invitation of Raja Maidini Prakash of Sirmour, lived at this beautiful spot for over four years. The historic gurudwara commemorates his stay and interestingly the water of the Yamuna fall silent below this which happened at the Guru’s behest. The word Paonta means ‘Space for a foothold’.
Paonta Sahib is connected by road. From Renukaji. It is 81 km via Nahan and 60 km via Rajban. From Dehradun, it is 44 km. The closest railheads are at Ambala and Dehradun. The nearest airports are at Chandigarh and Dehradun. Taxis/buses are available for Paonta Sahib at all places. In winter, the temperature can hover around freezing point when heavy woolens are required. Summer temperature are high and cottons are recommended.

This is what is called God's way of beckoning traveller's and we entered the Gurudwar...
Tranquility and charming simplicity were the immediate impression one sensed as we proceeded to the inner sacred precincts...
There was a sense of calmness and serenity and all external noises receded to a remote background
The complex has a level overlooking the Yamuna and the river looked extraordinary peaceful for the mighty river Yamuna..and was later told of the story behind the taming of the Yamuna by the 10th Guru Gobind Singh who founded and resided for 3 years at Paonta Sahib.

The Shedup Choephelling Buddhist Temple is a beautiful religious building in Mussoorie that commands stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. It is a popular destination for tourists, who can admire its colourful walls and flowering blooms. The temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha, and it is one of the first Tibetan holy places to be built in India.
Beautiful Buddhist temple located in hills. The place is quite, clean and very well maintained. We were there a bit early in a morning. The place was not yet bustling with tourist, which gave us an opportunity to interact with the old caretaker who stays there. He was very eager to share the temples history and also shared some pieces of Tibetan culture with us. This place is usually low on many tourist's priority list, but if you want to feel inner peace, you should visit it along with Santura Devi temple (which is nearby and equally beautiful).

GRAND & BEAUTIFUL
A prestigious institute that looks beautiful and feels nothing short of a grand movie set. The buildings, hallways, stairs all remind of you of the British architecture that can be seen in English Universities. Located inside the city and connected by wide and smooth roads. Proper parking facility is available. Lush greenery all around, which is maintained very well. Perfect picnic spot for families, one can spend hours and hours and still not get bored. Affordable and tasty food is available in the canteen, do try their idly & sambhar.
As it is a huge campus, be ready to walk for a considerable distance if you want to explore it inside out.

Based on the experience of my two years which I spent living in the campus being a student there.
Forest Research Institute (FRI) is one of the most loved tourist attractions in Dehradun. It has a unique place in the architectural history of India due to its Greco-Roman architecture which is utterly mesmerizing. This institute not only provides very specialized research in forestry and allied disciplines but also helps in imparting forestry related education to the students and scholars. It accommodates a reserved forest🌳🌿 within its premise due to which it is also called the lungs of Dehradun city. The walk around the campus with the sound of the birds chirping🐦🕊🐤 is so therapeutic that it can bring a smile to anyone's face😊. You will hardly find any piece of litter or garbage there and that's why it looks so clean and organic, the perfect example of co-habitation with nature. Having a reserved forest, a certain phenomenon called micro-climate is formed due to which the temperature🌡 in the campus is normally 3-4 degree Celsius lower than that of the city and the campus also gets more rain🌧 round the year. In my opinion, it is one of most livable places in our country.
Request: Please do not throw litter(plastic bottles) here and there and contribute your bit in making this place a plastic free zone. Thanks🙏

A nice place to spend some time with friends and family. A nice spot for couples also.
Entry ticket is 20rs and if you want to enter with a vehicle you will be charged 30rs extra.
The main building of FRI is not that much of an attraction, instead the whole campus and the beauty of it will keep you astonished. Greenery at it's best.
The only complain I have is that, there are no benches to be found anywhere in the whole FRI campus. People need some place to sit since everyone doesn't have vehicles and walking all the way is kind of hectic specially when the weather is hot. Beautiful gardening area.

Secondly, the faculty at FRI is highly knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about their subjects. They go above and beyond to impart quality education and nurture the students' interest in forestry and related fields. The curriculum is comprehensive, covering both theoretical and practical aspects, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.

GucchuPani, also known as Robber's Cave, is a popular tourist spot in Dehradun with a fascinating history. Legend has it that the cave was once a dwelling place of Lord Shiva and during British rule, robbers used it to hide their loot. The natural formation of the cave between conglomerate and limestone adds to its allure. Visitors can enjoy the serene surroundings and even take a dip in the waterfall.
Wonderful place where nature is showing its beauty in other way.
One will definately enjoy at this place as it is full of excitement and litte thrill.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this picturesque location, and I must say, the natural beauty here is truly awe-inspiring. Nestled in the heart of Dehradoon,
However, my experience was somewhat marred by the state of the small cafeteria on-site. Unfortunately, I found it to be quite dirty, with unclean tables and floors. This detracted from the overall experience, as I had hoped for a more pleasant dining environment to complement the stunning surroundings.
Another issue that warrants attention is the prevalence of smoking and drinking in public areas. It was disheartening to witness many individuals openly smoking and drinking, which not only detracts from the family-friendly atmosphere but also raises concerns about public health and safety.
this place as a natural attraction, I also believe that local government authorities should step in to ensure that rules and regulations are enforced. Their intervention is essential in preserving the sanctity of this beautiful location and ensuring it remains a safe and enjoyable destination for all.
In conclusion, while the natural beauty of this place is undeniably its greatest asset, there are critical issues that need addressing, particularly regarding cafeteria cleanliness and the need for stricter adherence to no-smoking and no-drinking policies. With the right improvements and government support,

This place is a beautiful nature made attraction in terms of a lake flowing inside from a cave. The beauty itself is mesmerizing but has a different perspective that during peak season it's not recommended to visit this place since we spend almost 2 hours in traffic just to cover 1 km. Beautiful place near Dehradun, with a stream flowing from the cave. It is in the cantonment area. Sometimes during the rains, the water flow increases suddenly and washes away tourists. So be careful while visiting this place, especially with children.
The main problem here is the parking. If you are travelling here on a weekend or some holiday or vacation season, then it's better to park your car above and then go down walking otherwise you will be stuck for like an hour waiting to reach down in your car.

A gorgeous place in dehradun, consisting of natural valley and flowing water. You have to walk through the water and through the valley till a waterfall comes. Along the way the views are absolutely beautiful. Also there is a quick snack shop in the way. The 1 star that I have deducted is just for the ridiculous sleeper that we have to wear, we can't go in our shoes or our own sleeper/sandals. The sleeper that they provide is absolutely pathetic and it was sliding in the water, its quite dangerous I feel as one can slip and can fall on the rocks. I don't understand why we can't take our much better shoes/sandals with us, lots of us even have waterproof shoes. Though apart from this its a must go place, it really beautiful.

An amazing place but too crowded so you can't enjoy the place that social media shows you!
Better you reach early in the morning when it opens and yes do come in slippers, chappals or sandals ... Don't come in shoes or else you'll end up paying 50-60rs to keep them in shops and yes avoid bringing the big backpacks and even if you do come with them, there are few people standing on the way and they'll do a favour of keeping your bags at their place with some 10-20rs per bag and it's safe.
Robber's cave counter guy doesn't believe in online payment so keep some cash handy.
Don't come back half way, complete the 2-3km water way and you're definitely going to enjoy the way.
The ending place is very boring but the water way till the end is amazing.

The highlight of the tour was witnessing the stunning waterfall inside the cave, a sight that left me in complete awe.

Robber’s cave is a must visit place in Dehradun, the crystal clear water from the rocks makes it look amazing. As the water level is till toes, I recommend to get the slippers on rent which cost you 10rs and available just outside the parking lot.
The entry ticket price is 35rs for a person.

It is a unique holiday spot where you can enjoy a lot even in hot summers and get respite from heat. There is a stream of water flowing under a cave-like structure and visitors walk in the water stream.
It needs to be built properly near the entry into the water as people often fall there due to slippery stones at entry into water. Foul smell too near the entry gate needs to be taken care of and cleanliness to be maintained.
We went there in April 2024. You can enjoy it with your friends and family. Vehicle parking and toilets and lots of eating options are available. Tickets are available only offline and in cash only priced Rs 35/- as on April 2024.
