This is a very beautiful and full of greenery place. If you like nature and wildlife, then this place is for you!! There is a free parking lot. The entrance fee is 12000 korean won per person. You can see so many beautiful arboretum here and well as bonsai of various types and also cute koi pond and a huge lavish mansion called as “ Welcome house”. This is the shooting place of many Korean dramas. Also inside the Welcome house you can get very good restaurants that offer you beaf steaks and the quantity and quality of the food is really good as compared to the prices. The place is very photogenic. You can get plethora of photo zones to take your pictures. Also a cute zoo is there where you can see beautiful peacocks showing off their beautiful fully opened feathers. Also you can see so many bears all around the park. And the bear are huge like 6 feet tall. Also the place is a perfect place to visit during cherry blossom time as it’s just gorgeous at that time and from top of the park you can get an amazing mesmerizing view of the entire park.

This is a fantastic, beautifully landscaped garden and park, with a few animals thrown in for good measure. Obviously the attraction is the Asiatic black bears. Though seeing so many bears in small cages and pens is a bit sad.

The Bear Tree Park is a family park in the city of Sejong. Its name comes from the many trees shaped like bears.
With over 1,000 different kinds of flowers and trees in an area of 100,000 m2, Bear Tree Park offers a variety of attractions, including trees and bears. The park, which attracts many families, includes the Asiatic Black Bear Mound, a symbol of the park, with 150 cute Asiatic black bears; the Pet Zoo, where peacocks and beautiful spotted deer greet visitors; and the Arboretum, where visitors can enjoy various themes at the same time, such as neatly trimmed flowers, trees and rare plants and animals.
However, the space for the bears was very small. The entrance fee is 12000 KRW for adults. You do not have to worry about parking, because there is a large parking lot.

This place is awesome. Definitely is good for relax because they have different water sculptures and the trees are very beautiful. The trees are very well maintained. My kids love the bear. Definitely will come back when the weather cool down a little bit.

This place is more than just a bear park. There are a lot of animals to observe and lots of plants and flowers to look at as well. There is also a nice café and food court right in the middle of the main route so that you can relax. Easily the bears are the main attraction as you can feed them and they are pretty good catchers when you toss it in the air. Would definitely go again.
Went again and this time it was raining. Unfortunately that left for a lot of the things inside to be closed. It's not that great as you're still paying full price. However still got to feed the bears.
Jaymez Callaway (James2Games) — Google review
The park itself is very beautiful with lots of trees and greenery. It is really well-maintained and clean. It is located on a hill so be prepared to climb some steep banks.
While the park itself is great, the same can't be said for the bear enclosures. Too many bears in too small of a space is a nice way of putting it. They have no nature to interact with except a couple of boulders. The enclosures are lined with ugly gray walls and the bears are used to catching food thrown from above.
Hentus du Bruyn — Google review
This is a park that I welcome for anyone to visit. The pricing is very reasonable and they have actual bears to view within the park. I didn’t get to get to the bear exhibit because we came later in the day, but my family and I will be returning to view the entire place. Great atmosphere and the employees made it easier to ask for assistance because they spoke English. Great experience can’t wait to explore here again!

This place is an absolutely wonderful place to visit when you want to feel some peace of mind. There are several different sections of plants such as desert and bonsai. Live bears you can see and feed. It was a relaxing day to a hard week.

Wow- what a beautiful place. It’s a smaller version of the New York botanical garden but has a lot to see and do! As you enter there are a couple buildings on the right which you can enter. One is a green house and the other is insect research facility with an area with some live animals. (Lizards, bugs, fish). There is also a beautiful cafe on the rooftop of one of the buildings. It’s called the healing cafe. The rooftop has a lot of flowers and small birds and good drinks and snacks. As you go further in, you get to the gardens which are quite expansive and have various different areas. There is a lookout, two large ponds, meditation areas, senses garden and even a large field for kids to run around and play. You could spend many hours here. We stayed for about 2 as we walked through and had coffee at the cafe. Best of all - ITS FREE TO ENTER!!

Thos is a great place to excape the hussel of the day. It is located near the Daejeon Art Museum and is a beautifully landscaped park area with a variety of habitats. There are open lawn areas, ponds, streams and pavilions where one can sit down and watch the surprising amount of wildlife in this hidden enclave. I recommend it as a place to go and enjoy the boardwalks that lead to unexpected scenes. The only negative for me was a little traffic noise in the northern reaches of the park. Daejeon spent allot of effort to make a special location for getting away from the crowds for a few hours or even the whole day as the opening times are long, especially in the summer. Look at the enclosed photos for more information and come and enjoy.

Gongju Gongsanseong Fortress is an ancient fortress of the Baekje Kingdom, situated on a wooded site with stunning views of the river and Gongju city. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers re-enactments of guard protection, illuminated outer walls at night, and several distinct buildings for visitors to explore. The location also provides ample opportunities for hiking and scenic photo opportunities across the river.
Quite a nice place to take a stroll! The fall foliage in particular made it even nicer to enjoy and a good place for pictures. Great for families as well as it's a wide open space with lots of space for kids to run or maybe even have a picnic. Great views of the nearby river and across the river also has a park with flowers worth checking out.

A great place to visit during autumn. It's a large space and great for all ages. Whether you want some cute photos or to learn about the history of Baekje. You can also take many lovely photos or just relax on the grounds and maybe even have a picnic. Once finished, you can walk across the street for some food or coffee, super convenient.

We came during the baekje festival. Very lively. They actually have re-enactments if how the guards protected the fortress. (See photos and videos) once you get in you can walk along the entire outer wall. This wall gets lit up at night. Great photos can be taken from across the river! There are a couple different buildings on site, each with their own special functions. Great place to spend a couple hours! It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Gongju National Museum is an excellent museum that features permanent and rotating exhibits of artifacts from the Baekje period. These relics include coins, royal jewelry, and pottery of great importance and majesty. Recently opened storage annex contains thousands of artifacts from the region which is quite beautiful as well. The museum has English descriptions on most displays, making it accessible to international visitors. Although it is smaller than big city mega museums, its curation is well done.

The Tomb of King Muryeong, also known as Muryeongwangneung, is an ancient royal burial site dating back to the 6th century. The tomb boasts an impressive design and contains a treasure trove of artifacts including gold crowns. Visitors can learn about the Baekje dynasty by exploring this museum and admiring the actual relics that were saved from that era. One f the place I remember the most is Royal Tomb of King Mureong. A lot of people know this, but l’d like share this place. It is located in gongju popular in past. As the name says, it’s type of Tomb, but it feel different from other king tombs.
This place have two thing to see. First is Woongjin Baekje History Museum. It’s have a thing that in the tomb, and the most interesting and funny is model of Royal Tomb of king muryeong. Second is Royal Tomb of king muryeong. It’s is main on this place. I didn’t know we’ll, now it can enter. so if you can, I recommend to enter. And this place is discovered by accident during the water way construction, so it is very special.

Daejeon O-world, is a recreational park for adults and kids alike.
Conveniently located the place can be reached by public transport and own vehicle. There are a lot of busses that run in this route. The place has a huge parking lot as well.
Booking tickets in advance is recommended, as the place could get crowded especially on weekends.
The place has theme parks, rids for kids to enjoy, a small safari, a good decent size zoo.
We were surprised to see puma and jaguar in the zoo, which most of the zoos do not have/keep. The animal enclosures are big and plenty of space for them to roam around. However pity is to see large birds in small enclosures with no/very little space to fly.
The safari is short but good.
For kids there are a lot of rides to enjoy.
There is also a dance performance by the staff, which is really good.
The place has plenty of food options as well. From western food, burgers, fries, to Korean food and snacks.
A good place to visit when in Daejeon, would recommend 5-6 hours to enjoy the place fully.

Daejeon o World is the main attraction of Daejeon. It’s a beautiful amusement park but it’s quite small as compared to the everland or lotte world. We enjoyed the gyro drop a lot. But the unique experience that i had there was the jungle safari as the bus is taking us on a ride through the jungle. This is first time I experienced how it feels to be behind bars. In most zoos the creatures are behind the bars and we enjoy watching them from outside. Here we were all stacked up in a bus like behind the bars and the creatures were freely moving in their natural habitat. So i do really liked this idea and enjoyed it. Also the flower garden was mesmerizing. It was beautifully decorated🤩 All the rides were amazing

About 4 rides were close when we came. The waiting time per ride was fast. We like that the rides were longer... not much on food selection. You need to wear really good walking shoes as the zoo is located in the higher ground so a bit of walking uphill is needed. The toilets are not as clean as I would like them to be. The staff and crew are really nice and friendly. The safari ride was rather fast. So we didn't get to enjoy it as much.

Mireuksaji Pagoda in Iksan is a UNESCO-designated heritage site, featuring a 6-story stone pagoda towering over 14 meters high. Originally built in the 7th century, the temple site contains two stone pagodas and one wooden one in the middle. The restored pagoda on the right is made to match the original ruined one on the left, making it a unique example of an oldest stone pagoda with wooden style.
Mireuksa was the largest Buddhist Temple during ancient Baekje kingdom. As per Korean history this temple was built in 7th century. This is UNESCO world heritage site. If you are near Jenonju or Gunsan and history enthusiast, then you will like this site. There are two stone pagodas which are restored by archaeological department of Korea based on available historical information. There is one museum just opposite to this historical site. Archaeological department started excavation of this place 1980 and it continued for many years. You can see ruins on the temple on site. I visited on 10 March 2024.

Happiness like clouds flows over their heads. The steps of walking here were lighter than heavier as if they were walking in the dreams not reality .The flowers seen out in front of eyes laugh at them as shy and timidly as usual. The sweet winds led flowers here. You can perfectly happy if you let sorrows of yours drop here by exhaling forth at a mouthful. The more walks in you are happier not to hope to keep up your end of it if you make up your minds of it .Of many things in the world It is one of your dreams , your lifelong happiness .You can grow anything by imagining in the clear sky hearing birds singing on the branches as if they were out in grand big woods from a poor little brook .You kind of liked the architecture over your head embroidered with flowers ,which looked like to have been made by angers during the night a day after thunderstorms. it is no exaggeration to say we are on the heaven .you can't where you are but you can where you are to get along people together fine .it a love ,likeness ,respect and gratitude polluted area.

Jeonju Hanok Village is a cultural village in South Korea featuring over 800 traditional wooden houses known as hanoks. Visitors can experience the cobblestone lanes and unique architecture of the village while enjoying octopus grills at dusk. The attraction is easily accessible by taking bus 974 or 976 from Jeonju National Palace headquarters.

This is the best traditional Korean village that I've visited thus far. The active shops, urban art sculptures and well paved roads really make the village a 21st century walkable street seamlessly engaged with the cultural identity.

Everything is moderately priced and is more or less fine in that respect. You can walk around the whole place in about a day but i would recommend two days to have a couple of different lunches or dinners or go back to a place you really enjoyed the first day you arrived.

There are so many things you can do there. Try Jeonju Bibimbap, rent Korean traditional clothes (Hanbok) or you can rent vintage/old-fashioned clothes. The rental costs around 20,000 won for 2 hours. Jeonju Hanok Village, nestled in the heart of South Korea, is a captivating blend of tradition and charm. With its narrow alleyways, well-preserved hanoks (traditional Korean houses), and vibrant cultural atmosphere, it offers a glimpse into the country's rich heritage.
Wandering through the village, one is transported to a bygone era, where tiled roofs and wooden structures reflect the architectural elegance of the Joseon Dynasty. The intricate design of the hanoks, adorned with colorful doors and windows, adds a picturesque quality to the surroundings.
The village is a haven for food enthusiasts, renowned for its bibimbap, a traditional Korean mixed rice dish. The local eateries, tucked away in the alleys, serve up delectable delights, allowing visitors to savor authentic Korean flavors.
The ambiance is heightened by the presence of art galleries, craft shops, and traditional tea houses, providing a holistic cultural experience. The Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) rental services add an extra layer of immersion, allowing visitors to stroll through the village dressed in elegant attire.
Despite its popularity, Jeonju Hanok Village maintains an authentic charm, providing a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Whether appreciating the historical architecture, indulging in local cuisine, or simply taking in the tranquil surroundings, this village stands as a living testament to South Korea's cultural legacy.

It’s a bit of touristy site but good way to introduce Korea to who’s visiting abroad and locals to Korean history and culture. There is one big church in the middle of the village so expect to find random strangers approaching you with pamphlets, cards or just standing there so better to avoid or ignore them. There is also a huge Cathedral, unfortunately we weren't able to visit as there was a wedding in progress.

Locals: I found that the locals were super friendly (and intrigued by foreigners, we got stopped by locals to take selfies). Credit to the ahjumma that helped us with the handbok experience - she was so lovely and despite the language difference, made sure to clearly communicate cost of hanbok hire by manually typing into a calculator.
Experience: Definitely try a bibimbap from Jeonju - they're known for this! If having it the traditional style, then it's raw beef and raw egg yolk! I wasn't game enough to try it, but my friend was. I decided to get into a hanbok and I'm glad I did, even if it was at night and I was freezing my butt off.
Overall Take: I would go return again! For the bibimbap, for the hanbok experience, for the locals.

This place is magic! It's the biggest hanok village in Korea and most attractions in Jeonju are either inside or around it. The guidebooks promised amazing views of the city from above. Essentially it's a small hike up a hill, but once you're up there you can't see the city as the view is obscured by vegetation. The only better view is on the stairs on the way up. If you go for the historic site, then there's a pavilion where you can rest. If you're looking for a calm-ish place to rest then it's a good place though.

Beautiful pavilion and trees in bloom in the summer time but the leaves in trees block the view to the Hanok village below. It would be better during late autumn or early spring to see the village below. Nevertheless, the hill is not difficult to climb and there are many paths to get to and the top and down again. We went up the path in the corner of Taejo-ro and Girin-daero.

The Jeondong Cathedral is a historic Romanesque church that was constructed between 1908 and 1914. The church, which showcases statues of Korean Catholic martyrs, is over a century old and has an impressive beauty in its catholic architecture. Located in the Jeonju han-ok village, it stands as a landmark figure displaying the religious history of Korea.
It's a nice small village named Hanok. The old church and beautiful colorful streets are the attractions. You can try old korean dresses and can make some photos in beautiful streets.

Old Catholic Church which is more than a century. The outlook might be humble but inside of it has a classic, magnificent beauty of catholic architecture.
It’s a landmark figure in Jeonju han-ok village.
It would be much better if there is a tour guide who can explain more about it. I heard it has a long history related with religion. Looking back at the religious history of Korea it was never easy to settle down in Korea.
A pamphlet written in English might be a great help to know about this place.

Cathedral in Jeonju that rivals Myeondong church in Seoul in its beauty. It’s located right next to the hanbok village and I saw many people losing in the front in hanboks. There’s a gift shop to the left of the church where you can buy rosaries and other items.
No photos allowed inside. It’s quite and serene. Perfect for contemplation and prayer.

As a devout-wanna-be Catholic, I enjoy visiting new churches.
I got a chance to look around Han-ok village and the first place I'd look was this church.
I attended the Mass too. There were about 50 believers at this time; most of them were senior citizens. You know, during the weekdays, not so many young people can come. However they sang so beautiful that I asked myself "Man, there's a choir in here?"
The Gospel was the Jesus' parable about vineyard(MT 20:1-16) and after Gospel reading, the reverend gave a nice homily.
After the Mass I took some pictures around the parish. There were also a lot of people taking pictures, for this is one beautiful church.
Thanks God for giving me a nice chance to visit this church.

The Pungnammun Gate is a well-preserved remnant of the Jeonju fortress walls and serves as a local landmark on a traffic island. Its stone-and-wood structure is an absolute beauty and stands firmly guarding the ground. Located conveniently near the Hanok village, it provides easy access to good food and cafes. Visitors can relax here during the day or enjoy drinks at night-time.

Dongguksa Temple is the lone remaining Japanese-style Buddhist temple in Korea, making it a noteworthy tourist attraction. The site also holds significant historical value as it sheds light on the struggles young Korean women faced under Japanese occupation. A visit to this temple is highly recommended as it provides a glimpse into the past and offers aesthetically pleasing views of its architecture. Additionally, visitors can take advantage of the gift shop and café located on-site.

I heard that it is the only Japanese-style temple in Korea, so I visited it.
Well, it's a temple that you can find anywhere in Japan, and Japanese people don't feel anything in particular, but the feature of this temple is the statue of a girl around the bell hall. (It was built by a monk from Aomori Prefecture. Please check the details yourself.)
I felt very disgusted with the feeling that religious facilities were being used politically.

Dongguksa Temple (동국사) is the last remnant of Japanese Buddhism in Korea, even though nowadays the temple follows the Korean Buddhism, the architecture is impressive. The temple stays still without the scars of the wars that assailed the peninsula, visiting it, is a visit to the year of 1919, the year that the Japanese occupation conducted a stronger occupation. The temple has very welcoming cats, that I even managed to take a photo of them :D
Also the temple was used as location for the film Ode to the Goose (군산: 거위를 노래하다) directed by one of my favorite directors Zhang Lu. It was interesting to visit some of the locations for this film, the next posts I will explore those locations.

Scenic, and at times, stunning place. The mountains aren't that tall or challenging as far as hikes go, and the trails leading to the mountains aren't that noteworthy, but boy are they beautiful. The autumn foliage here is phenomenal, one of the best spots in Korea to see the changing leaves.
Of course, that means massive crowds, especially on weekends. If you can swing time off from work, do try and come here on a weekday so you won't be here with throngs of people. Or you could just come here outside of the 3 week foliage window, but you would be missing out on some of the best fall foliage there is

Visited on 8Nov22 which was 3 days after peak foliage forecast. Quite a lot of leaves have fallen from the trees but still had quite a good number of trees with beautiful autumn foliage. I think it might be better to visit a few days before the forecasted peak foliage date of that year so that at least most of the leaves haven’t fallen.

First time experiencing Autumn 🍁 and to me is already quite pretty. Heard from the tour guide that this year (2023) is not as beautiful due to very hot autumn and the cold snap switch to winter (climate change!) So the leafs just die from green leaves to dead leaves instead of turning orange/red. Sad year to come for the autumn leaves.

Simply awesome. Only thing to keep in mind is when is the peak of autumn colours. We were lucky to get a lot of nice colours, still it could ge better few days later.
Also do not travel during weekends as the place gets super crowded and we spent 6 hours to return to Seoul.

Breathtaking view. I was lucky enough to see the maple leaves blossom in Naejangsan few years ago. My friend and I took a day trip from Seoul to the national park. I am grad we stopped before, and wentndown to Maple scology park. Because this place was beautiful. Enjoy your hike!

Beautiful place to visit especially during the autumn season. Make sure you wear a good hike boots as the hiking roads are quite rocky and steeps. Bring water, food and snacks with you for energy recharge and pinic lunch

Amazing place!! At least in autumn it looks too beautiful with the trees in red, orange and yellow. Near the entrance you can buy food, souvenirs, and many other products. The negative side of the place is of course the TONS of people that visit it. Some parts were just to crowded... Anyway if you are in this part of the country, it is a must visit. Im not sure if its worthy a long trip from Seoul.

Located around the Naejangsan mountain, this park is famous for its magnificent autumn colours, which is when the park is at its busiest. Spring is also a popular time to go, to see the cherry blossom as well as a large variety of flowers and trees. The best way to fully appreciate the park landscape is from the cable car. I'had been looking forward to go and walk metasequoia road for a long time and i went. i guess my expectation was way too high. It was just a dirt road with trees on both sides. I met many people walk around bare foot in damyang, which seems popular these days for whom cares healthy life. We met more bare foot people in that road who looked relaxed. To my suprise, there was ₩2,000 entrance fee. The road was a bit disappointing but near there we found a great view. From the road you can see mountains towards the east? north? whose ridge looks exactly like a woman(man) lying down. I read seeing far from, chuwolsan looks like a monk lying down, therefore what we saw might not be a woman(man) but a monk, however for me it looks a lady. Look at the picture of it and see whether you can figure woman(man) out. disappointingly, picture doesn't capture the vividness of it. must go see it.

This is a beautiful Buddhist temple located by the foot of the mountain with a river running beside it. From the parking lot, it's quite a walk to get to the temple. It's a relaxing walk though because there are so many trees and if you come here at the right time in the month of September, the path is covered with vibrant red spider lilies.
We came a little late so we did not see any spider lilies but we still enjoyed our time. It was raining too but it was still very beautiful.
This is an old temple built in the the late 500AD. So there's so much history in this place that the Koreans are still able to preserve.

This is Seonunsa Temple[禪雲寺], or the main architecture of significance, or group of buildings to be found inside the grounds of Seonunsa Temple National Park [禪雲寺道立公園]. Well worth a visit, if you love beautiful trees and breathe taking scenery. This temple has absolutely beautiful grounds, especially in Autumn when the leaves are brownish red and falling, it is truly a sight to wonder.
Here I am going to explain how to get from Seoul to here . Well first you get a train ride from Seoul Yongsan Station, and get off at a nearby town called Jeongeup(井邑), you find some cheap motels near this railway station and book several nights of accommodation here. I'm assuming you are also visiting other parks nearby, at roughly one night per park of time. You need two nights for just visiting Seonunsa Park if you going to spend a whole day there.
As you get out of Jeongup[井邑] railway station, your first task is to try to find the Tourist Information Office (井邑综合旅游咨询中心) which is situated just outside the train station. You ask how and where to catch the earliest bus which usually means a bus going in the morning, to go to Seonunsa Temple[禪雲寺] or Seonunsa National Park. You point the destination on the map at the Tourist Office. The important thing is you must make sure, the return journey, the last bus leaves when, and where from the park area, how frequent they come back to Jeongeup so that you can be at your hotel, before too dark.
You can of course take beautiful pictures at this park, spend a whole lazy day, or an intense day walking around the whole parkland. You need to carry some drinking water, and there will be public toilets and fast-food near the entrance of the park. A really great experience, most gentle walkers should be able to accomplish successfully.

It's really pretty and maybe it was more lively pre-covid times but there wasn't much to do there when I went. I did enjoy the photo booth but that's all there was.

Interesting place. Many things to see and eat around this area

Not much really going on here. It says it's a market but it didn't really feel like one, nothing was really happening. The brew pub was great though. The years on the street which represent how old the shop is, is a nice touch. I don't really recommend going out of your way to come here. If you're in the area though have a walk down.
