Magnificent....its a drive of 3 hours (from pahalgam) and we hired a private cab to reach there. You'll find eating places (way too expensive) but they allow little bargaining. Make sure to carry a warm jacket and head cover as the winds are too chilly, even during summers. We forgot to carry and later on had to sit in the car to protect ourselves.

Must Visit. Offbeat destination. Relatively lesser known among the famous destinations in kashmir. But as beautiful as any place else. Not crowded at all, Cool strong breeze, mildly warm sun. Beautiful lush green slopes, fast moving clouds and breathtaking panoramic views of valley floors on either side.

Sinthan Top is a mountain pass,
a popular tourist destination located between South Kashmir's Breng Valley (Sub-District Kokernag) in Kishtwar district
This place is very freezing with minus degree temperature
We have beautiful view of snow mountains
Please keep a note mobile networks dont work here !! Always carry cash
Food and tea are available with bit high cost….
We even have sledge rides here. The ice is very dry and slippery
Some spots have soft ice and we even fall inside the ice
Overall its a beautiful place to experience once in a lifetime ✌🏻

Sinthan top is a spot 12000 ft above sea level in Kashmir which is midway on the newly opened Anantnag-kokernag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road. The road has been built and is maintained by BRo in excellent condition. It is 132 km from Srinagar. The journey is in itself an experience and once you reach the top it is 360 degree view, and snow everywhere. You can get down from the car and walk on snow. Sinthan Top is a less-known tourist spot in the outskirts of Srinagar that is gradually gaining popularity because of its natural beauty. It lies midway on the Anantnag-Kokernag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road, which was opened in recent years.
The road is well maintained by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that provides an easy access to this spot. Lying at an elevation of 12000 feet above the sea level, this place overlooks beautiful sceneries of the low-lying regions. The sprawling cover of snow paints this entire area in white, making it visually appealing. During most parts of the year, the area remains inaccessible due to heavy snowfall, and the best time to visit is between April and September.
Sinthan Top is perhaps one of the best natural beauty area I have seen in Kashmir. The new highway is so clear and safe and easily takes you to Sinthan Top. Most of the tourists are unaware of this place and even the cabbies will not take much pain or even botheration to inform you about this place.
The new highway is well-built and secure and almost effortlessly takes you to Sinthan Top. The vast majority of tourists are unaware of this place. The Sinthan top is around 12000 ft above sea level and is one of the finest experiences ever. Getting there may take a lot of time and energy for those who are occasional travelers but it is a place which is a must see for everyone. The road up is usually met with snow-formed streams at many places. The water level in these creeks is less and moves slowly throughout the year, thus offering an ideal spot for photo snappy tourists. Stop by, sit and relax on this gigantic stone with calm but cold stream flowing beside; a sight that simply mesmerizes your senses. Once you reach the very top, you would be simply blown away by the amazing vastness of the green mountains.

When in Kashmir do visit this off beat place. Very very beautiful and secluded from the crowd
The ice is fresh and white. You can enjoy activities like sledge over here. Enjoy hot khawa, tea coffee maggie, although it might be expensive
No restrooms are available anywhere near the top. Warm clothes can be rented on the way to the top with a charge of 300rs for one garment set.

Hundreds of turns along the way. The drive is definitely worth it. Every bend on the road is a photographer's delight. Don't forget your camera. The area is known for its beauty and wonderful tourist attractions. The place is fast growing as one of the top tourist destination in Kashmir. The journey is in itself an experience and once you reach the top it is 360 degree view.
I am going there again!

Located between South Kashmir's Breng Valley and Kishtwar, Sinthan Top is a mountain pass which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region. At a height of 3800 m, Sinthan Top draws many tourists with 360° gorgeous views of both Jammu Region and Kashmir Region. Being covered in snow throughout the year, this must-see place in Kishtwar attracts snow lovers as well.
The nearby Sinthan Maidan (24 km) is also becoming an important hub for trekking, mountaineering and skiing enthusiast. Not only this, Sinthan Maidan is a great family destination with activities like horse riding and paragliding on offer.

Great location. Nice drive to the top. Snow is less at this time of the year (July). Small eateries on the top. There is a toll after daksum where local police may stop you from going. We were lucky.

In Jan 2024, there was no snow or very less snow in places like sonmarg, gulmarg or pahalgam. It seemed that our trip will end without snow. However we changed our plan and decided to visit sinthan top on 18 jan. It was a good decision. We got a good snow here enjoyed a lot here.
Small eateries are available here. Snow activities are also available.

We visited this in june and it was completely filled with snow. This place is a 3.5 hour drive from Srinagar and is not widely suggested to the tourists. The entire drive was scenic covered with green trees on one side and snow mountain on the other. The last 30 min ride had snow on both the side
The destination is usually described. But the path to this destination is an experience that cannot be explained!
The mountain was India's beauty at its best. This is the best place I've been. Heavenly Experience 🤍

"The crowning glory of my Vaishno Devi pilgrimage was the mesmerizing view from Bhairo Mandir. After a challenging yet spiritually enriching trek, reaching Bhairo Mandir felt like ascending to a celestial realm. The panoramic vistas of the Trikuta Mountains were simply awe-inspiring, with every peak and valley creating a breathtaking tapestry of nature's grandeur.
From this elevated perch, the Vaishno Devi temple below appeared like a divine jewel embedded in the rugged landscape. The sense of accomplishment blended seamlessly with the spiritual awe as I gazed upon the sanctum from Bhairo Mandir. The tranquility of the surroundings added a serene touch, allowing for quiet introspection and a deep connection with the spiritual essence of the journey.
The meticulous planning and maintenance of the route from Vaishno Devi to Bhairo Mandir showcased the dedication of the temple authorities to provide a holistic pilgrimage experience. This journey not only tested my physical endurance but also uplifted my spirit, leaving an indelible mark on my soul. The culmination of the pilgrimage at Bhairo Mandir was a moment of pure bliss, where the earthly and divine elements converged in a harmonious spectacle, etching an unforgettable chapter in my spiritual journey."

They have really worked a lot and this place is now having good path, Electric transportation, Cable car, Helicopters and the best part is now you can travel from any where in India to directly Mata Vaishno Devi. Earlier you have to go to Jammu and from there catch bus. But now everything is so smooth.

Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir (bhawan) is one of the best holiest places in India. The mandir is too high from the Katra and has approx 15 km. Total Yatra or Journey of Holy 'Shree Vaishnav Mata Ji' and 'Shree Bhairav Baba Ji' takes around 12 to 15 hrs. It is very well-managed and beautifully oraganised by the Katra shrine board. Clean toilets along the way, several food stalls, drinking water points for every traveler, many benches to sit and rest all way. Entire trek was very beautiful and 90% shaded. its a life time experience to visit here. After mataji darshan we took rope way to reach bhairav baba temple, whose price is Rs 100 per person. bhairav baba mandir balcony is the great place to take photos/selfie.

Mata Vaishno Devi, also known as Vaishno Devi Mandir, is a popular Hindu temple located in the Trikuta Mountains in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Mata Vaishno Devi, who is believed to fulfill the wishes of her devotees.
The pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi begins at the base camp in Katra, which is about 42 kilometers from Jammu. From Katra, devotees have to trek uphill to reach the temple. The trek is approximately 13 kilometers long and passes through picturesque mountainous terrain.
The temple is situated at an altitude of around 5,300 feet above sea level. Devotees have to climb a flight of approximately 5,000 steps to reach the main shrine, which is located inside a cave. Alternatively, some devotees prefer to hire ponies, palanquins, or helicopters to reach the temple.
The shrine receives millions of devotees every year, especially during the auspicious occasions of Navratri and other festivals. The pilgrimage is considered highly significant in Hinduism, and devotees visit the temple to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi.
It's important to note that the information I provided is based on the knowledge available to me up until September 2021. It's always a good idea to check for any recent updates or changes regarding the pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi before planning your visit.

We have visited earlier also for Mata Rani Darshan.
But this time we got special Darshan.

Within 3 hours we came back to Helipad.
Arrangements were so good.
Queues were not too Big.
For people who travelled via Helicopter and same day return, VIP PASS issued from Helipad Counter.
We need to remember that we must have to return with in time mentioned on VIP SLIP.
We need to enter from Gate No 5 to avoid long queues which is clearly mentioned on Slip.
We can take Prasad from local shop and put all our bags there to save time.

I like to suggest some think if you're going Patnitop
1. From Katra you will find many people and agency that will help you out but You can also ask directly connect from driver there just ask anyone where you can find car stand its near Katra bus stand
Important - The price from Katra to Patnitop 5 seater car is around 2600-3000 (Round Trip means it will show you all the spot in Patnitop and Drop back to Katra ) most important here your bargaining skill will help you out.
Ask for Driver ID take photo of his car and no. Plate for safer side they will ask you the advance mostly 500 rs So you have also right to ask his ID Proof
2. There you will find a set of Overcoat with shoe if you like you can rent it around 200-250 rs otherwise carry one overcoat ( bargaining skill again )
3. In Patnitop there is only snow to look and the nature view that's why don't expect most.
You can find Snow Sledge ride they will ask you around 500 rs per person here you have to use your bargaining skill again
Carry Cash to avoid headache and go there in morning to avoid any issue

The Bahu Fort is a historic fort in the city of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. Constructed on the banks on Tawi River, the ancient fort is believed to be constructed by Rajput Raja Bahulochan around 3,000 years ago. It is believed that the first renovation of this fort was undertaken during Dogra Rule in 18th century. The fort is a religious place, and within its precincts has a temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. The temple is known locally as the "Bawe Wali Mata temple".The building of the city of Jammu and the Bahu Fort are linked to a legend. Raja Jambu Lochan, when on a hunting trip, witnessed a curious scene of a tiger and a goat drinking water side by side at the same location in the Tawi River, without the tiger attacking. The Raja considered this a divine direction to establish his new capital here, as the scene he witnessed at this site represented peaceful coexistence. His brother, Bahu Lochan, is credited with building the fort.
The fort is located on a high plateau land overlooking the Tawi River on its rocky left bank with an average elevation of 325m. The forest area that surrounds the fort has been developed into a well laid out park called the "Bagh-e-Bahu", from where a commanding view of the city of Jammu could be seen. The garden attracts a large number of visitors.[1]
The fort, the temple, and the Bagh-e-Bahu garden are located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the Jammu city centre. The city road to Surinsar was widened for providing approach to an Oil drilling exploration project. However, this project was shelved and consequently the widened new road provided better access to the fort and the temple, and the number of visitors to these places has since increased.
The fort structure is located at an elevation of 325 metres (1,066 ft), opposite to the old town of Jammu. The fortified structure has thick walls made of sandstones built with lime and brick mortar. It has eight octagonal towers or turrets connected by thick walls. The towers have enclosures to house guards. The main entry is fit to allow passage of elephants into the fort. A water tank with access for pilgrims to take bath is located on the left entry into the fort. This tank or pond is 6.1× in size and has a water depth of 4.6 metres (15 ft). A pyramidal structure is on the right flank (with very thick walls to withstand any gun attack) of the fort was an ammunition store. An underground chamber here was used a prison. This chamber has a secret exit to escape from the fort in case of any emergencies. The first floor is lavishly built with arches and decorated with floral designs like a Baradari or a palace.
To the right of the temple, there are a few halls which were used in the past as assembly halls and offices of the Quiledar (master of the fort). However, they are not maintained at all. The royal stables were also located within this fort. Substantial renovation and additions to attract visitors have been added during recent years.
The earliest historical recorded link to the fort is that of Raja Jambu Lochan and his brother Bahu Lochan, sons of a powerful ruler Agnigarbha II of the Jammu dynasty of Suryavanshi kings. Bahu, the eldest of Agnigarbha's 18 sons, is credited with establishing the Jammu city and building the fort. The earlier fort structure was modified over the years to a stronger fortified structure. The present fort was rebuilt, probably at the same location as the ancient fort, by Autar Dev, the grandson of King Kapoor Dev in 1585. Over the years the fort underwent demolitions and reconstructions from time to time, until during Sikh Empire the then new Governor/Raja of Jammu Maharaja Gulab Singh reconstructed the present fort in the 19th century, which was further refurbished during the rule of Maharaja Ranbir Singh. They first established temples for their tutelary deities; the image of Mahakali deity in the temple in the fort was brought from Ayodhya

This garden is located at Bahu fort. Garden maintenance is ok. Could be improved. One can view Jammu city from the garden deck. There is a musical fountain with lights that starts only after sunset. As we were not aware of it we missed it.

Park is well maintained, but non accessible for specially a led people. Musical fountain staff are fraud, there is a big problem with power disruption and they do not have any backup. Staff runaway once power is gone. No refund, be careful with this.

Rest rooms and eating joints there and also paid boating facility. Route from jammu via Sidra is good option and road is good. Other root is via samba with rough patches. The place deserves at least two visits - one during the day to enjoy the experience in full daylight and one in the evening, when the lights are on highlighting the details. Good time is the time of evening prayers and taking the Holly Book to sleep at around 10 p.m. During the day it is worth to visit the place with a local guide who will show you places that otherwise you would miss or have no idea that you could visit like the kitchens serving 40 to 50 thousand meals each day... And you enjoy that beautiful place free. Unfortunately taking photographs in the temple is strictly forbidden - pictures only outside...

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is an iconic Sikh religious site and a must-visit destination. It is a place of profound spiritual significance and architectural beauty. The stunning golden structure is surrounded by a serene and picturesque lake, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.
The temple complex is open to people of all faiths and offers free meals to visitors, showcasing the Sikh principles of equality and selfless service. The interior of the temple is equally impressive with its intricate artwork and gilded walls. The atmosphere is often filled with devotional music and a palpable sense of spirituality.
However, the temple can get crowded, almost daily and especially during religious festivals, so it’s advisable to visit during quieter times for a more serene experience. Overall, the Golden Temple is a unique and spiritually enriching place that is well worth a visit for its cultural, religious, and architectural significance.

The Masroor Rock Cut Temple is a cluster of monolithic sandstone temples located in North India. These ornate structures were carved from living rock between the 8th and 10th centuries, displaying beautiful architectural carvings that have suffered severe erosion over time. The temple complex bears similarities to smaller temples at Angkor Wat in Cambodia and offers a stunning reflection when viewed from the nearby tank.

A peaceful tranquil place that gives you a view that will be with you for life. The view of the temple from across the lake is the best. While it can get really hot during peak summer the way we experienced in June 22, however if you carry an umbrella, you can walk around without much fatigue.
There is plenty of shade to sit and enjoy the view. You can also walk beyond the lake to enjoy some Maggi or other quick snacks or biscuits or soft drinks.
Photo options are a plenty.
Overall a place worth going to and spending at least couple of hours to soak in the peace and awe of the view and wonder about how many centuries back people would have carved out these structures and what would've motivated them to do it.

The Rock Cut Temples of Masroor, located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India, are an impressive architectural marvel dating back to the 8th century. Carved out of a single rock, these temples exhibit intricate detailing and craftsmanship, reminiscent of classical Indian architecture.
Visitors are often awe-struck by the grandeur of the temple complex, which consists of a group of rock-cut temples dedicated to various Hindu deities, primarily Lord Shiva. The main temple, dedicated to Shiva, features a towering shikhara (spire) and intricately carved bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
While the temples have suffered some damage over the centuries due to natural erosion and earthquakes, they continue to stand as a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisans who created them.
Visitors to the Rock Cut Temples of Masroor can expect a serene and picturesque setting amidst the backdrop of the Dhauladhar mountain range. The site offers opportunities for exploration and photography, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers exploring the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh. However, accessibility and infrastructure around the site may be limited, so visitors should plan accordingly.

Recently explored Masroor Rock Cut Temple (11-11-23) – a hidden gem for a family picnic. Even during the Diwali Festive Season, the serene atmosphere prevailed with fewer crowds. The temple, a marvel of ancient architecture, left me in awe. The journey from Kangra unfolded breathtaking mountain views, riverside scenery, and enchanting pine forests. The road, though occasionally bumpy due to recent heavy rains, was generally well-maintained.
Entrance fees were surprisingly low, and the online ticketing process, facilitated by the attentive guard, ensured a smooth experience. The strategically located restroom atop a hillock provided not only convenience but also a panoramic view of the surroundings. Cleanliness was a pleasant surprise.
A quaint eatery near the temple offered delightful treats – from scrumptious Vegetable Maggie and momos to an outstanding pizza. The pizza, in particular, was a standout. I cherished nearly two hours in this picturesque setting, perfect for both photography enthusiasts and those seeking a relaxed picnic spot. Masroor Rock Cut Temple is not just a place; it's a reason to take pride in our rich heritage.

Mata Chintpurni is a very popular temple in the Hindu community. A lot of people visit daily to seek the blessings of Mata Rani.
The temple is very well organized and the people management is amazing. There are two parking available and I would suggest parking your vehicle in the first parking which is the government one as the charges are quite low and you can get a darshan token from there.
The temple has started the lift, which wants to go directly in front of the darbar. The lift is free for old age people and handicapped people. But others have to pay a fee of 1100/- to avail of this service. Token for the loft is available is first parking only.

Ancient origin
When Lord Vishnu severed the burning body of Maa Sati into 51 pieces so that Lord Shiva would calm down and stop his Tandava, the pieces were scattered over various places in the Indian subcontinent. It is believed that Sati's head fell at this place and is thus considered one of the most important of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
The goddess residing in Chintpurni is also known by the name of Chhinnamastika. According to Markandeya Purana, goddess Chandi defeated the demons after a fierce battle but two of her yogini emanations (Jaya and Vijaya) were still thirsty for more blood. Goddess Chandi cut off her own head to quench Jaya and Vijaya's thirst for more blood.
She is usually shown holding her own severed head in her hand, drinking one stream of blood spurting from the arteries in her neck, while at her side are two naked yoginis, each of whom drinks another stream of blood.
Chhinnamasta, the headless goddess, is the Great Cosmic Power who helps the sincere and devoted yogi to dissolve his or her mind, including all the preconceived ideas, attachments and habits into the Pure Divine Consciousness. Cutting off the head suggests the separation of the mind from the body, that is the freedom of the consciousness from the material confines of the physical body.
According to Puranic traditions, Chhinnamastika Mata will be protected by Shiva – Rudra Mahadev in the four directions. There are four Shiva temples – Kaleshwar Mahadev in the east, Narayhana Mahadev in the west, Muchkund Mahadev in the north and Shiva Bari in the south – which are nearly equidistant from Chintpurni. This also confirms Chintpurni as the abode of Maa Chhinnamastika.

Chintpurni Temple is dedicated to Mata Chintpurni Devi who is also at times referred to as Mata Chinnamasta. Chinna means ‘without’ and Masta stands for ‘Head’.
Out of all the pieces, it is believed that Maa Sati’s head fell here, making it one of the most important Shaktipeeth. Mata Chintpurni Devi is a symbol of self-sacrifice and according to legend, she is protected by Lord Shiva in the four directions. As such, there are four temples surrounding the main temple. Kaleshwar Mahadev is present in the east, Narayhana Mahadev is found in the west, Shiva Bari in the south, and Muchkund Mahadev in the north.

A very beautiful and serene place. It's up on the hill. There are two ways to reach the top. One way where Cars can park beside the valley, have a steep climb. It's difficult for old-aged devotees. There is a washroom at the top but in a very bad condition and not maintained. Otherwise early morning darshan don't take much time. We had to purchase a ticket to be in the normal line.

One of the 51 Shaktipeeth of Goddess Durga. It is also known as Chinnamasti Temple. Visited here during Navratri and there was a huge crowd, it took around 5 hours in the line and darshan. But the good part is the queues are properly maintained and managed by the authorities, there are also all kinds of facilities for devotees starting from food ( langar), accomodation and lodging, medical facilities etc. Must visit during Navratri.

Devi Talab Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Mother Goddess Durga, estimated to be over 200 years old. The temple offers a peaceful and serene environment, even during hot summer days. Visitors can enjoy the soothing breeze and devotional songs playing in the background, transporting them back in time to the era of Puranas.
Very peaceful and place of serenity even when the summer sun is shining in the mid day.. The breeze, the stotram or devotional songs in the background take you away to the era of the Puranas.

I love this place.. whenever I feel off or wanna visit a place to relax I'll choose this place.. the atmosphere is calm... They even introduced small kids friendly rides, including a balloon house, as well , trampoline, mini kids rides like cars, Jeeps etc... There is a small pond in which the main temple is situated. There are various kinds of fish in the pond.. except the main temple.. there are small other temples.... You can also see some shops in the temple building as well as the rest place .... As I heard there is a small cave somewhere in the temple which I have yet to explore.

Shri Devi Talab Mandir is a Hindu Mandir located in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. The temple is devoted to Goddess Durga and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. It is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Pithas in India.
Even a model of Amarnath Yatra was constructed sometime back only. Beside the main Devi Talab Mandir, is an old Temple of Goddess Kali. One of the prime attractions of the temple is an old tank, which is considered to be sacred by the Hindu devotees. The temple has a structure resembling the Amarnath Cave temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Temple has a Gold Work done inside as well as on its Top.

This is a divine temple dedicated Goddess Durga. Famous as Mata Tripurmalini Mandir, it is one of the Shakti Peeth among other 50 Shakti Peeths. There's a story behind the establishment of this mandir that when Maa Sati sacrificed herself after her own father, Daksha insulted Lord Shiva, then Shivji performed tandav dance in anger with Sati's body in his arms. Then in order to pacify lord Shiva & save the universe, Lord Vishnu cut Sati Mata's body in 51 pieces & wherever the pieces fell on earth a Shakti Peeth Temple was established for the welfare of humans. Mata Tripurmalini Mandir marks the spots that received Maa Sati's right breast.
It usually takes 4 to 5 hours to take a complete tour of the mandir. You can visit this temple with your family. There a Temple dedicated to goddess Kali and a replica of Amarnath Cave Temple has been added to the Temple Complex. It's a must visit place in Jalandhar. This temple is very popular among the devotees and is visited by thousands annually.

Very friendly and welcoming temple, lots of shrines and an interesting way to learn about Hinduism. They have a large man made holy pool full of coy carp and others were shy, which they deter people from feeding but they still do. Only slight negative was one of the shops tried to sell us bottled water that had already been opened but thankfully we spotted it, very cheeky.

The experience was good, albeit a few things could have been better - I went with a small baby in a pram, and had to constantly lift the pram as there are no pathways for wheels, it's possible for people with wheelchairs to have similar problems so they should fix this. Another thing is that they don't let us back in after we leave, I get that there is a certain way, but we just left to keep something in the car, and couldn't come back in which was a major let down. All in all, a wonderful experience to witness authentic punjabi culture. I would definitely recommend visiting, but rather come at night than day as in day you can only click pictures and see statues and all, whereas in the night there are shows and activities like pottery wheel going on .

The Bhakra Dam, constructed between 1948 to 1963 on the Sutlej River, is a remarkable feat of architecture and one of the tallest concrete gravity dams in the world. Tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of the dam from various vantage points accessible by bus or personal vehicle. To visit from Nangal, visitors must have a pass from PRO and provide Aadhaar Card details. Boating in the sparkling blue water is an added attraction.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable Bhakra Dam situated in Himachal Pradesh. This engineering marvel stands as a testament to human ingenuity and determination. Its strategic role in providing hydroelectric power, irrigation, and flood control has immensely contributed to the region's development and prosperity.
The sheer scale and grandeur of the Bhakra Dam are awe-inspiring, reflecting the dedication and hard work of countless individuals who were involved in its construction. It has not only harnessed the power of water to generate electricity but has also transformed arid lands into fertile fields, enabling agricultural growth and improving the lives of countless people.
As a symbol of India's progress and resilience, the Bhakra Dam is a source of pride for the nation. Its impact on the economy, environment, and local communities is immeasurable. Let us express our gratitude to this monumental structure that continues to serve as a beacon of progress and a source of sustainable development.

The dam is spectacular. You need to take permits from the local authorities to visit. There is an office at the checkpoint for the same. Also, while the signboard are displayed on the route, it is somewhat tricky to find the correct route. It is better to confirm with the locals on major turns.
Photography is not allowed at the Dam but there are a few locations before and after where beautiful pictures of the dam facade and the reservoir can be clicked.
If you are also visiting Nainadevi (20 km / 30-35 minutes from there), it is better to start at the temple and view the dam on the way back as the time needed for the dam is not too much.

And off course, don't forget to enjoy boating in shining blue water, singing "Aaj blue hai paani paani...." Be there atleast before 2:00 as closing time is 3:30 pm, however you can still have beautiful Dam pictures on the way to Naina Devi. Very beautiful museum that's been well maintained. The artwork that has been designed for the museum is without doubt beautiful, however it lacks any historical sikh or punjabi artifacts/artworks. Definitely worth a visit but you will find that you may not visit it again.

If you ever find yourself near Chandigarh, check out Virasat-e-Khalsa in Anandpur Sahib. It's a huge museum with lots of parking and green spaces around. The building is really cool, covered in fantastic art and graffiti. It's super clean and well-kept. When you step inside, it's like "wow"! You get to learn about the history of Punjab and Sikhism – they even tell you stories. It's a must-visit place, and you'll leave with a better understanding of the area's rich heritage.

What an amazing place to visit. Really well constructed and gives a good insight into Sikh history and also Punjabi culture. If you have kids in the family - definitely a must visit for them. On the day we visited I think the sound was down, as we did not get any headphones to listen to descriptions of items on display. Nonetheless we loved it and will bring back more family.

Virasat-e-Khalsa stands as a monumental testament to Punjab's rich culture, tumultuous history, and the sacrifices made by its people in the pursuit of independence. As you step into the expansive museum, you are immediately struck by the immaculate cleanliness and the breathtaking interiors that greet you. The museum's design seamlessly blends modern architecture with traditional elements, creating a captivating ambience that draws visitors into the heart of Punjab's narrative.
The museum's primary focus on showcasing Punjab's culture, history, and the valour of its warriors is evident in every corner. From intricate exhibits detailing significant historical events to poignant displays honoring the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence, Virasat-e-Khalsa serves as a poignant reminder of Punjab's enduring spirit.
One of the most striking aspects of the museum is its meticulous maintenance. Every corner is flawlessly preserved, ensuring that visitors can immerse themselves fully in the experience without distraction. The cleanliness and orderliness of the space further enhance the sense of reverence and respect for Punjab's heritage.
Despite the prohibition on photography inside the museum, this restriction serves to encourage visitors to fully engage with the exhibits and live in the moment. Instead of focusing on capturing images, visitors are encouraged to absorb the sights, sounds, and stories that surround them, creating a more profound and meaningful experience.
Each step taken within the museum's halls is accompanied by a sense of awe and reverence. Whether admiring the intricately designed interiors or reflecting on the sacrifices of Punjab's heroes, every moment spent at Virasat-e-Khalsa leaves a lasting impression.

The Viceregal Lodge & Botanical Gardens is a historical place museum in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. The lodge was built in 1888 for British viceroys and it now houses the government offices. It is an impressive Gothic-style building and it offers guided tours.
A beautiful monument to adore & go through the history which was well narrated by the Guide. The historic importance of building ranging from its construction, water harvesting system, first building to have electricity back in those days to Shimla Conference every detail is worth knowing. The building is been kept well maintained both internally & externally. The lush green gardens with variety of flowers can hold you forever and make a beautiful landscape backdrop.
The staff is very humble, helpful & polite.
Advice:

2) Book your slot well in advance to avoid waiting else you can enjoy the scenic beauty in meantime.
3) Usage of camera is prohibited inside the building.

Iconic colonial architecture, sprawling gardens, must-visit museum
The moment you enter the Viceregal Lodge premises, you could taste a slice of Shimla’s rich colonial history. The building’s architecture captivates you immediately and takes you back in time.
The popular botanical garden in the compound has key plant species. And the lawn in front of the building is really pretty. You could also explore the extended parts of the garden by taking staircases climbing down.
Important info: Tickets for entering the premises are free. The museum stays busy during weekends.

An exquisite piece of British Architecture in stone and wood. The Stone facades, and the wooden interiors are embellished richly without any room for complaint. There are several artifacts and memorabilia on display too. But only a portion of the ground floor is open to public, and the rest is off-limits. The first floor is entirely for scholars and students.

When we visited there around 3, weather was normal, however as soon as we got the tickets, and we were about to join, rain started with hails and the roads got covered with layers of ice and the day and place got more beautiful. And due to this, we had to wait a lot to see this historical building but it was worth waiting. Now talking about the building, the building architecture is great.

Beautiful place and beautiful garden. You need to shed 30rs per person for garden and outside area.
Rs 200 ticket for both inside tour as well as garden area. Which is zero value for money in my opinion. Nothing to show, low maintained area with negligible information. Old valuable item are removed and only some pictures are added in each room to pass your time.
You can choose according to your taste.
A cafe with snacks and beautiful surroundings is a plus to visit this place.

The Viceregal Lodge in Shimla is a historic gem that offers a delightful experience for visitors. During my visit, I was amazed by the majestic architecture and beautiful surroundings. The lodge was once the summer residence of British viceroys, and its grandeur still shines through.
The exterior of the lodge is stunning, with intricate designs and lush green lawns that create a serene atmosphere. Inside, the lodge is filled with vintage furniture and elegant décor, transporting visitors back in time to the colonial era.
The guided tour provided fascinating insights into the history of the lodge, highlighting its importance in India's past. I particularly enjoyed exploring the grand ballroom, library, and dining hall, each offering a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the British elite.
The lodge's location in the midst of nature adds to its charm, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It's the perfect place to relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance.
While the lodge is well-maintained overall, there were a few areas that could use some attention to detail. Despite this, my experience at the Viceregal Lodge was unforgettable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shimla. It's a fascinating glimpse into India's colonial history and a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature lovers alike.

This is a fantastic walk from Mall Road, that if walking fast, you can get there in about 45 minutes. I would not suggest the walk for anyone that has mobility issues due to the steep inclines at times but man is it absolutely gorgeous the whole entire time.
A great place to take dates, or just go to sit and relax in the sun.
The building itself is absolutely gorgeous and Fantastic for photos.
Plus just 50 rupee (2023) to get in isnt bad.

Rashtrapati Nivas Chaura Maidan Road, Near, Observatory Hill, Boileauganj, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh 171005, India
This is Christ Charch on Uporer Mall Road above Lakkar Bazar an immensely popular attraction of tourists throughout the year. A prominent landmark of Shimla and its silhouette is visible for many kilometres around the vicinity of Shimla city. Christ Church is one of the enduring legacies of the British Raj.It is the second oldest church in North India. Christ Church continues to be well maintained and is in relatively good condition. The clock's original mechanical mechanism has more recently been replaced with an electrical equivalent. However, currently whilst all 4 faces of the clock remain in synchronization, they rarely reflect the correct time.
The church contains five fine stained glass windows. One represents the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience, and Humility. It's a place where one can feel the beauty of nature and the popular picturesque landscape also named as '
The Ridge' of Shimla surrounding hills including Jako Hills, the Abode of the Great Hanumaan Temple's and its long portrait. In addition there will be another two legends whose portraits have been installed to remind us of their benevolent contribution for building our choice-able attraction in this part of Himachali Culture.

The square church tower of Christ Church, painted a pale creamy yellow, is one of the Shimla skyline’s most prominent highlights. The church is one of North India’s oldest churches, its cornerstone having been laid in 1844, and the church consecrated in January 1857. Today, Christ Church is part of the Church of North India’s Diocese of Amritsar, and regular services in English and Hindi are held every Sunday.
Visitors, however, are allowed into the church, though (of course) you are expected to maintain decorum. Photography is allowed (no videography), but only till before the pews—there are signs to this effect. Also, visitors can enter only up to the last two pews, so it’s not possible to walk along the sides (which have some beautiful stained-glass windows) or up to the altar (also good stained-glass at the back). The walls are lined with many plaques of polished brass, commemorating various people, both British and Indian, who lived and/or died in Shimla and around.

Along the boundary while crossing the church at night, one can view the breathtaking skyline of Shimla and surrounding hill stations. Christ Church, Shimla, is the second oldest church in North India. Built in the neo-Gothic style in 1857 to serve the largely Anglican British community in what was formerly called Simla, Christ Church is situated on The Ridge. It stands out as one of the prominent landmarks of Shimla and its silhouette is visible for many kilometres around the vicinity of Shimla city. Christ Church is one of the enduring legacies of the British Raj.
Christ Church was designed by Colonel J. T. Boileau in 1844, and the cornerstone was laid on 9 September 1844. The church was consecrated on 10 January 1857. The clock adorning Christ Church was donated by Colonel Dumbleton in 1860. The church contains five fine stained glass windows. One represents the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Patience, and Humility. The pipe-organ of Christ Church is the largest in the Indian subcontinent; it was installed in September 1899. A British manufactured pipe-organ was installed in 1899 which was extensively renovated in 1932.
Location: Easy to reach, right at the start of the Ridge.
Cleanliness: The area is very well maintained and clean.
Ambience: Calm and serene.
Overall, a must place once in your lifetime.

The Hanuman temple is a spiritual center in Shimla dedicated to the monkey god. It is one of the most peaceful places in Kufri and has a massive statue of Lord Hanuman. The temple opens at 8am and closes at 1pm, with entry fees being nil.
A great place to visit, its 8400 ft high from the 🌊 level, any you should definitely try the cable car once, its a awesome experience overall. You another thing you should not wear any sunglasses or glass as that can been taken by the bandars. For more info you can always refer to my photos. Thank you.

Probably the best place in Shimla. Lovely trekking experience. You can trek from Mall Road to temple or take cable car ride to temple. But the trekking experience would be really great. Be aware of the monkeys, they may take anything away from you anytime.

A must visit place in Shimla. Don’t miss it. Cab charges around 1000/- from cart road.
If you’re self driving roads are quite steep but good and well maintained, take it only if you can drive in thinnest roads in mountains. Parking space is available.
Normal queues in temple. It’s a beautiful view from the top.

A nice place to visit. If you are fit, go for a trek and enjoy the view. There is an escalator facility at the top. The place is neat and clean. But beware of monkeys. Don't carry any food items with you. A monkey bit a child in front of me, so be careful.

Serene and calm place to visit. We did the trek up to this temple and it’s a fairly difficult one. Alternate way is the longer route via vehicle. Well maintained and a clean place. It’s the highest point in Shimla & the 100+ ft huge statue of Lord Hanumanji is visible from almost any part of the city. Don't carry any valuables or baggage to the temple as there are a lot of monkeys in and around the temple; they don't harm you as such.

It's ancient times holy place. As it is Hanuman ji's temple, it has a lot of cute monkeys who want food and love from you. The view is awesome from the top. You should bring channas or breads or bananas etc. with you for monkeys, which make you feel good.

A must visit absolutely peaceful place to visit . Beware of monkeys .
To travel uphill there are various modes one of them is you get a government taxi for 20 rs person one way from near McDonald's/ brew estate . It's quiet a climb so do try stairs only if your are habitual to it . Even where the car leaves there is a little climbing from there and that too on unmade stairs . So for elderly it's best to avoid .

It was a great place to visit, especially when there is snowfall, amazing view and vibe. The aura of this place is amazing.
And you can access this palace without a cab service there is a pathway directly from Mall road in front of st. Christ Church, it's a bit long but you can save some money on it.

How to Reach : 1. Take Ropeway Approx 500-600 ₹ per person 2. Take a Cab Approx 500 ₹ per Cab 3. Take the staircase.
It is said that Lord Hanuman took rest here when HE was on His way to collect Sanjeevani booti for Lakhshmana. The Lord Hanuman statue is around 108 ft tall and can be seen from Shimla Mall Road & The ridge. It is a very serene place. When we reached Aarti was going on and a local woman (probably possessed) was doing the Aarti and at the end Pujari ji sprinkled Jal on her and she was screaming for a while then back to normal. Didn't get time to explore the story behind it due to crowd.
Pro Tip : Don't wear Sunglasses/ specs or any other valuable ornaments as monkey gangs are looking for it and they will snatch it and you wouldn't even know. Exchange it for the Prasada/Food 😁 Jay Bajrangbali 🙏

Divine place with lots of history. We went on a Sunday and just missed the Bhandara. It was a little crowded. Cable car ride to temple was worth it even though it's a little expensive. There is an option to walk all the way up, only if you have ample amount of time. Lot's of monkeys around. Make sure you don't carry any food items in plastic bags....the monkeys will snatch it. Also keep your cellphone safe. Be careful while taking pictures.

According to the Ramayana, Hanuman stopped at the location to rest while searching for the Sanjivni Booti to revive Lakshmana. A giant 108-feet-high idol of Hanuman was unveiled at Jakhu Hanuman temple on 4 November 2010. At 108 feet (33 m), it surpasses the statue of Christ the Redeemer, which measures at 98 feet (30 m), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cost of construction was Rs 1.5 crores. The public unveiling was officiated by Abhishek Bachchan.
The temple is accessible by foot, horse, taxi or ropeway. The Jakhu Ropeway is an aerial lift that links a point near the centre of Shimla to the temple. It was developed by Jagson International Limited and opened in 2017.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Jakhoo is located on the top of Jakhoo Hill in Shimla. It is an upclimb from the main road but vehicles reach up easily with some steep routes in between. It is easily navigable via Google Maps.
Legend says that Lord Hanuman has taken a halt at this point while returning back taking the Sanjeevani booti with him for Lord Laxman. It is believed the idol came out magically after he left the hill for his journey ahead.
It's a beautiful temple and the sunset here is magical. The premises of the temple are well maintained and a small parking lot is also made outside the temple for vehicles. The temple has a lot of monkeys and it is advised to keep your spectacles away while visiting as monkeys tend to snatch them for a barter for food. Due to the presence of monkeys, it's believed that the presence of Lord Hanuman is evident.
The temple is also home to 108 foot tall Lord Hanuman statue which is a sight to see. As you enter Shimla, it is clearly visible from afar.
The temple premises has a help desk as well for any queries and bhandaras are also organised frequently for the masses.
It's an unmissable iconic spot if you're visiting Shimla, highly recommended for your Shimla Trip.

History of the temple
After Lakshmana was cured, Hanuman went back to place the mountain in its original site. He rested on top of the Jakhu hill for some time. It is said that the top of the hill got flattened due to Hanuman's weight! The temple has been built around the place that is supposed to have the footprints of Hanuman.

Christ Church, Kasauli, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, earlier an Anglican Church, was built in 1853 and managed by Church of North India (CNI) since 1970. Built of dressed sandstone, the church has a cruciform floor plan. The fine-stained glass windows above the high altar depict the Christ on the cross. This central window is flanked by those depicting Joseph and Mary. A side altar has windows with Saint Barnabas and Saint Francis of Assisi. The latter is considered to be the patron saint of animals and the natural environment; not unexpectedly, the window here depicts him with doves at his feet. Complete with arches and buttresses, the church is Kasauli’s landmark and stands tall as you enter the town.
The distinctive church of the architecture includes a clock tower with a sundial in the front, main hall, cruciform floor, beautiful stained glass windows and an aisle which will lead to the beautiful altar sculpture, in which Jesus Christ is bound by Joseph and Mary. There are stained glasses over the altar image of Jesus Christ which depicts the Crucifixion where the image of Christ is flanked by those of Joseph and Mary.
Location: Right at the center of Kasauli; the town was developed around it.
Cleanliness: The area is maintained clean.
Parking: Near the multi level parking.
Overall, must visit once in your lifetime.

The church use to be so much quiet and calm from inside. You can go and sit here whether Inside or outside you'll find it peace . It's covered with nature from all sides and that's the best thing about. If you visit kasauli do come here. Church is nearby bus stand and mall road .

The Mall Road in Kasauli is one of the major attractions of this town. There are two parts including the Upper Mall and the Lower Mall.
The Upper Mall offers a few shops and eateries, but the most attractive factor about it is the beautiful views that it promises. The splendid scenic views and the rolling hills, coupled with a couple of historic monuments make the Upper Mall a must visit.
The lower mall on the other hand, is full of small shops and cafes, perfect to sit down and enjoy a few local dishes.
The famous Church is also on the mall road. From Mall road you can visit sunrise point, sunset point, monkey point. But either you have to walk down or take a local taxi. You cannot drive by your own car as private vehicles are restricted unless you hold permit to drive to these points.

The Christ church near the entrance to the main parking lot of the heritage market is one of the oldest churches in the region. Simply looking at it gives you a feeling of how the area must have been in the 19th century, with the old rustic church architecture maintained to the present day.
It is on the same route that leads to Lover's Lane and sunset point. At the entrance itself, you can see that it was constructed in 1844. From the inside, the church is very well-maintained and beautiful. It has a comfortable sitting space with benches for people who wish to sit and pray.
The roof also has a beautiful chandelier, and the main altar is directly visible from the church's main door as well. The place becomes even more beautiful in the winter since it is covered with fog on the hilltop, and you can feel the old Venetian architecture inside—a must-visit place at Kasauli.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Chandigarh is believed to be the largest rose garden in Asia.
In addition to roses, the promotional literature says there are over 1000 varieties there, there are also several medicinal herbs, plants and trees. The roses are laid out in aesthetically designed flowerbeds, surrounded by beautifully landscaped areas interspersed with trees and flowering shrubs.
I couldn't see the garden in full bloom as I visited towards the end of March in 2015, after the Rose Festival was over, and many of the flowerbeds were being relaid for the next season.
There are some fountains towards one of the entrances, and a large wind chime.

I visited the rose garden in Chandigarh with my family last week. It is supposed to be the largest rose garden in Asia, but I was disappointed by the lack of roses. There were very few roses and they were not very colorful or fragrant. The garden looked more like a regular park with swings and slides for kids and a fountain for decoration. The only positive thing was that my son enjoyed playing on the slides and swings for an hour. I think the rose garden needs more attention and improvement to live up to its name and reputation.

The place is absolutely worth the trail. The walk is about 3 kms and there are two roads leading to the same point. One is from the side of a hill on the edge, where you can see the rest of the valley and mountains . The other is from an inside road where cars usually go. They both meet at a road where you'll find a tuck shop , you can get a couple of snacks options and juice and water there. And then just about 500 mtrs ahead you see the sunset point. It has a couple of seating spots. If you're early, you can occupy one. The view is breathtaking and it gets pretty cold and windy (feels like under 10°) so make sure you carry a cap, or muffler and an extra layer to cover yourself. There's swings and a bathroom as well but it doesn't have running water. Could be a bit more maintained. Post sunset , it can get dark very quickly but the way back isn't lonely at all since many people walk back from there. The sky on your trail back turns into many hues of warm and cold tones. Spent hours here in this quaint and serene spot.

Amazing experience of sunset here. The lights, shades, and colors that one experiences here are beyond words. Uncle's tea is a relief here after the long trek to this point. Reach a bit early to have a better viewing spot as it gets crowded around the sunset.
Washrooms could be cleaner as they are paid...elderly people would definitely enjoy the view but reaching there could be a challenge. If paid golf cart service can be arranged, then it would be great for them.

Overall it is worth going there if you really want to enjoy walking because it is almost 2 km. walking from the main market.
You cannot go on your bike or car, it is a cantonment area so you have to walk only throughout the Kasauli.

Loved the walk from sunset point to gilbert trail. Very quiet and beautiful walk. Loved the wild flowers enroute. It’s located in the Cantonment area which enhances the beauty and aesthetics of the place. Entire walk is very neat and clean with best views.

Parking is very far so we have to travel walking and no public transport available and it's very far and just a simple place but the view was awesome bikes are allowed but if you're willing to travel by car you have to cover few km by walking....

Its a nice walk up till the sunset point in Kasauli. Its a nice tourist place but to reach there you need to book taxi from Kasauli as your car is not allowed in cantonment area. Your car will be parked in the parking and you will have to walk till old Kasauli heritage Mall road. For sunset point as well as manki point you will need a local taxi which will charge around 300 to 500 rs for return fare. Sunset point is around 3 km from city centre and the driver will drop you at the starting point from where you have to walk around 500 mtrs which is a beautiful walk.

Its a very nice hill station.
I went there on september and it was just mesmerising. The weather was just perfect.
The sunset point is incredibly beautiful.
Because its under army cant its very neat and clean.
There are some monkeys there so beware and dont give them anything to eat.
The side desks are also good to spend aome quality time there.
In just 2 hours the weather changed 10 times.
So its a very beautiful place.

I visited Gilbert Trail (also known as Suicide Point), Sunset point and Church. You need to do easy trek of 12-15 mins to reach to Gilbert Trail. View point is beautiful. Try to reach there within 3:30 pm. Spend some time and then come back towards Sunset point. Awesome view. On return, you can visit Church & Mull Road (Heritage Market). Taste Bun Samosa at Narinder Sweets (Tannu). It’s different taste from normal samosa. You will enjoy.
Adding photos for you.
The Rock Garden of Chandigarh is a vast 24-acre garden filled with courtyards, sculptures, and pathways made entirely from old crockery. The garden was created by Nek Chand and features a unique mosaic design that incorporates recycled materials to create stunning works of art. Visitors to the Rock Garden can explore the many winding paths, admire the various sculptures on display or simply relax in one of the many beautiful courtyards.
Manki Point, also known as Sanjeevni Hanuman Temple, is a small Hindu temple located on a hilltop in Kasauli. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is home to many monkeys. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding area from the top of the hill. The temple was recently reopened after being closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Visitors are not allowed to bring cameras or phones and must deposit all bags at the check point before proceeding on foot.
So peaceful and beautiful place to visit. It is on peak of the hills of Kasauli.
You need to be fully vaccinated otherwise you won't be allowed to pass the security.
Phones, baggages, snacks and electronic devices are not allowed in there because of the increased cases of monkeys snatching these items.
Taxis' fare is very high.

A 40 minute walk from the parking stand and a 15 steep minute climb from Air Force Station gate. The temple closes at 5pm, so plan your visit accordingly. Mobile phones/other electronic items have to be deposited at the AFS gate.

Kasauli Lower mall Road to Monkey (Manki) point is about 4 KM walk (restricted area, no taxi allowed). After about 2 KM at check point (area controlled by Indian Air Force) all electronic items and bags must be handed overed. Atop small but steep mountain visited "Hanmun temple", small cafeteria, wash rooms are available. Tranquil views with lots pine trees enroute and nice flowers around the walk was quite manageable, had awesome experience.

We rented out cab small car for Rs500, including 5 members in celerio. 10 min rides through car.
Beautiful temple situated at top hill, you need to trek for 15-25 minutes, trek is easy.
Your phone will be submitted at gate entry because it is air force area so phones, cameras are prohibited inside this area.
If you are carrying prashad be alrert because monkey will snatch it while going back, so hide it properly otherwise monkey will snatch it.

There is Hanuman temple at highest peak of hill.
1. Take a cab from kasauli market, it takes 10 minutes to reach there.
2. Its military area so you are not allowed to take any electronics gadgets even phone, smart watch, charger, airpods.
3. At entry gate you can deposit your phone and bag with charges.
4. After that they will give you ID card and ask for checking.
5. Its takes 15-20 minutes to climb only through stairs.
6. You can enjoy beauty of nature in minimum 1 hour and maximum 2 hour.
Note - Only temple is there and canteen is also there at top.
Bohar Singh — Google review
To reach this point one can either get a taxi or walk from Mall road. It's around 4km if you want to walk and it's doable for almost everyone. Once you reach the main entry point, you'll have to show an ID card and deposit any bag and electronics equipment (smartphone/smartwatch/cameras) as most of the reviews mentioned. There is a small deposit fee (50 for a bag with 2 phones). From the main entrance you'll still need to walk 5 mins to reach the main stairway, from where you can get to the top. The view at the top is great but if you're unlucky (like me) and go when there's foggy weather you won't be able to fully appreciate it. The only flaw is that there's no decent food points in the whole complex. The closest one is on the Mall road.

Mandir photos are not available bcz all electronic devices were submitted by Air Force bcz of safety reasons.. Beware of Monkeys please don't carry any items above not even a bottle of water or bag... They ll snatch it for sure and can even hurt you. Leave the Prasad of Mandir also above only.

We have to take a cab from market to Manki point
It takes 50₹ per person one side.
Up there mobile is not allowed and around 500 steps are there upto the top of hill. The view is just awesome.
Above 60 age are advised to think thrice before going up as the steps are inclined and very arduous task for elders.
Sushant Kumar — Google review
The best view point I must say, the place was open after staying closed due to Covid. No camera or phones are allowed, we have to deposit all bags at the check point and then proceed on foot. Situated in a defence area, the climb atop the hill is fun, there are steps in few pathways... but when you reach the top the view is magical and a must see... spending time at the top is very peaceful. Must go. No phones were allowed hence no photos to upload.

The peace at the temple is worth the climb.
Lunch time at the pass issuing counter is 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Please make sure not to carry anything that is not permitted. As far as water bottle is concerned, carry as small as possible. There are monkeys on the path and will snatch anything in your hand but will not bother you if you don't bother them.

A divine experience. It is approx 500 metres walk inside the Airforce Complex before you reach the base from where there is an approx 500 metres climb up the hill to the temple. The climb is steep but is not as difficult as some people sound in the reviews. There are enough benches enroute…. one can catch a breath whenever required and continue. It is a proper covered, concrete paved way, interspersed with stairs. There is a restaurant and a Prasad Shop on top. There are a few monkeys enroute but they are used to humans and do not disturb you….. but will grab any eatables…. so do not carry ANY eatables….. even the Prasad on the way down !! Apart from the divine experience, the view from top is breathtaking.
Girish Kumar — Google review
The temple is almost 2.5 kms from mall road parking. You can get taxis from the parking area, personal vehicles are not allowed. The taxis will cost INR 200 one side. You should carry a small bag with you to deposit your phone and smart watch at the counter.
There are staircases and ramp to reach the top. It's a good height of around 500ms to climb to reach the temple. You will take about 30-45 minutes to reach on the top.
You can buy Prasad on the top itself. There is a small shop where you can eat snacks but don't forget to carry cash because you will not have for phone with you and card doesn't work here.
It's quite windy at the top so don't forget to carry a stall or a light sweater based on the weather you can decide
The entry is till 1PM in the afternoon and than it reopens at 2PM. The temple is not closed just at the entry gate where you get passes these people are on lunch break.
It's advised to wear shoes because the stairs are Rocky and good distance to walk.
While coming back as well you can get taxis. Same INR 200 each side.
Be careful with the monkeys. Don't carry eatables which are visible to them. You can have something in your bag or pocket.
Overall It's a good experience

Went there thinking it's some monkey point for fun, turned out it was manki baat point with no modi jimm 0/10 I don't recommend.

If you're a lord hanuman's "Bhakt" you must visit this temple once in your life.
Manki point or the sanjeevni hanuman mandir is situated inside the air force area in kasauli, himachal and you're not allowed to carry any electronic items inside the airforce area, they provide with paid lockers to keep your stuff.
Then there are mandir steps of 500m but on mount height. It's quite exhausting climbing those steps up, but when you reach on the top that feeling of temple and view from that top is just mind blowing.
Legend behind temple:
The legend says that during Ramayan, when lord Lakshman was injured and Hanuman ji was asked to carry sanjeevni for him, his one foot touched this mount top and hence people made a temple there dedicating to him.

Sukhna lake is a popular tourist spot in Chandigarh and is perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The lake features pedal boats and areas for jogging, as well as migratory birds. It is also home to many aquatic plants and animals, making it an excellent spot for nature lovers of all ages.

This is more than just a lake with lots of fun things to do. For starters, there are several food kiosks with moderate prices and a wide range of selections.
Boating is the main attraction, and there are various alternatives available, including paddle, row, and shikhara boats. The view is spectacular, and there are various additional activities available, such as rock climbing and mini swings, to help you unwind. This is the most crowded spot in Chandigarh, yet it is also the most beautiful. You may unwind and enjoy the scenery while spending the evening with family or friends at a reasonable fee. The boating time is half an hour, but it was well worth it for a paddle with the choice of two or four people in a boat. This is a must-see place in Chandigarh.

Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is a sizable lake, and the best time to visit is in the evening when boating facilities are available. However, in windy weather, boating may not be available for safety reasons. There are plenty of eateries at the entrance of the lake, making it the ideal place to spend quality time, especially for some 'me' time.

It was my first place that I visited after coming to Chandigarh. The sunset was looking beautiful ❤️ and the air was flowing slowly. You can visit this place alone or with your friends and family.
Boating is available. You can take the rides as well. You will find the peace and the fresh air.
You can get the auto rickshaw from Shivalik park easily. Charge you around 20-30 rs.

The Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh weaves a magical tapestry of serenity and splendor. This picturesque man-made marvel, born from the vision of the great architect Le Corbusier, stands as a true oasis amidst the modern chaos of the city.
Imagine a place where time seems to slow down, and worries melt away like droplets on the lake's glassy surface. Sukhna Lake beckons you with open arms, inviting you to escape the mundane and embrace the extraordinary. The verdant foliage of the Shivalik Hills embraces you like a warm hug. The gentle breeze carries the faint melody of birdsong, setting the stage for a symphony of nature's finest performance. One can have an awesome view of the sunrise over there with cold Breeze and pleasant weather.
Majestic migratory birds from distant lands descend upon Sukhna Lake, transforming it into a vibrant aviary. They paint the skies with their grace, and birdwatchers and photographers alike are left spellbound by this feathery spectacle. As the sun dips below the horizon, the lake dons its golden cloak, and the air becomes infused with the aroma of camaraderie and laughter. Families gather for heartwarming picnics, children chase each other with gleeful abandon, and friends share stories that will echo in their hearts for eternity.
Things to do at the Sukhna Lake :
1. Sunrise and Sunset Viewing
2. Bird watching
3. Jogging and Morning Walks
4. Meditation
5. Boating
6. Visiting Museum
7. Photography
8. Cycling

Most picturesque place of chandigarh Sukhna Lake is a reservoir at the foothills of the Himalayas. This 3 km² rainfed lake was created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. Originally, the seasonal flow entered the lake directly causing heavy siltation.
It has ample food joints in the food court, drinking water facilities, boating facilities (Rs 250 for 2 seater boat + 250 as security). Good for nature lovers.

I have been visiting this place for past 20 years and it still holds the charm. It brings peace and tranquility. Walking the entire track feels amazing while looking at the greenery on one side and the water with paddle boats and kayaks on the other side. It's one of the most inclusive public spaces I have come across in India. There are people running, walking, doing exercise, couples, elderly, kids and a lot more. Sukhna has something to offer to everyone. I prefer the Garden of Silence side as it's more peaceful compare to the entrance.
Monsoon is one of the good times as everything is lush green and the lake is full. Winter is also great as you can sit and relax on the toasty stone embankment or the grass and eat oranges and soak in the sun.
It's a place one must visit if going to Chandigarh.

The Renuka Lake popularly/ religiously referred to as the Renuka ji is located not very far from Nahan and Paunta sahab. We were disappointed to find the two different approaches to the Lake to and fro were NOT at all maintained and the "road" conditions were pathetic.
The boats were easily available which needed to be self operated. How I wish operators were also available and the surrounding roads could be manned by lake security to avoid any mishap.
Stay arrangements are also there. I am sure if there is a strong will the place could be further developed for more tourist attraction which at present seems to be driven more by the religious sentiments.

Tiger Fall -Chakrata
Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Waterfalls
Hilly walking trails lead to this remote, towering cascade framed by vegetation-covered rocks.
Most amazing getaway so far! This place is soo isolated and beautiful with a powerful nature presence and you feel every smell and every insect. I went with my family at August end and it was raining the magnitude of the tiger fall was 10 times the normal. It was so so good. Fortunately our camp was 100 metres away which was also helpful. We found the waterfall nearly empty and we clicked a lot of photos. After 12 pm people start to come a lot and it's hard to find space there. Week days are good to visit as weekends are unpredictably crowded. You have to pay 30 rs as an entry ticket. The stone paved way could be slippery in the fall area so be careful. You can bring your pets there. There is a small 1 km trek to the high view point where you can see details about tiger fall.
I suggest you bring your own car until the lowest point on a stone paved road.

Tiger falls is a hidden gem in Uttarakhand. You have to trek for about 1 km downhill to reach the actual falls by foot or take a precipitous route by car after you reach the destination. Please do not take the car unless you have a good local driver because the road is pretty bad. There is a railing and moderately well maintained stairs throughout that you can use to go down by foot. Returning can be a tiresome if you are not used to physical exertion. There are no shops or water points while going down. But there are small shops at the start. The falls is a nice sight to watch. There are some changing rooms and toilet near it but they are not maintained well. The place is not crowded because people have not yet discovered it. It is a matter of time till this place becomes crowded and dirty!!

Tiger Waterfall in Uttarakhand is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by adventure seekers. After a scenic trek of over a kilometer, visitors are rewarded with the sight of this majestic waterfall cascading from a height of 50 meters. The journey to reach the waterfall adds to the excitement, with lush greenery and refreshing streams along the way. Once there, tourists can't help but marvel at the sheer beauty and power of the waterfall, making it a memorable experience for all who visit. If you're in Uttarakhand and craving a dose of nature's splendor, Tiger Waterfall is a must-see destination.

Absolutely stunning with water cascading down vertically, causing a huge water spray near the fall. Be prepared to get drenched in the spray.

It's a serene place, with an amazing location of the fall..the road till the fall is not good at all..
However you can still drive (prefer a car with good height clearance)..
The waterfall is totally worth it, especially when the water is in its full might !!
There are small shops close by, where you can get tea, Maggie etc...!!
Must go with the kids, no issue at all 😊
Abhinav Aswal — Google review
Small, but still worth it when i visited in summer.
Special note: there are two parking. One on top from where proper steps are going down to reach the falls. Another down near the falls and steps can be avoided. So when you step down from top parking it almost reaches the down parking. But on the way the journey is really good.
Recommendation: with elders, small kids - go directly to down parking.
It's a very tall fall so it makes the sound and that's how it's name originated, it sounds like the roar of a tiger when water falls from such a height.

Had an amazing time at the Tiger Falls( Largest Direct Falling Waterfall in India ). The roar of the falls is truly the exciting part as it falls from over hundreds of feet high. If you’re Lucky you would see Rainbows forming nearby adding to the beauty of the place.

Where nature's power cascades with elegance and grace.
Roaring and plunging from heights above,
It embodies the untamed spirit of the wild, pure and tough.
Amidst the verdant forest, its beauty stands tall,
A breathtaking sight that captivates all.
The mighty Tiger Waterfall, a sight to behold,
As its waters gush down, stories of nature unfold.

The waterfall is nice and not very crowded,
The water is very cold and clean.
There are two ways to reach the water either you can take your vehicle but that path is extremely narrow only one car can pass at a time and also at a very steep angle or you also do a hike. It is almost a 1km hike.
Other than that the waterfall is beautiful.

Changing rooms and other facilities were not so clean, we had to change outside. The fall is pretty but the crowd is too much. It's very refreshing to take a dip in the water though. The Trek to the waterfall is very pretty and not that long. I would suggest take the walking route down and take the bolero taxi while going up.

The most beautiful, untouched waterfall.
less populated tourist place indeed. There’s trek route as well as directly reach near the tiger fall by vehicle.
Hardly 1km of trek starts from the view point.
And 5km trek starts from Chakrata.
you need to buy ticket of rs 30.
There are many home stay near the water fall.
Very peaceful place to visit with friends and family .
best time to visit- summer
Nearest city- Dehradun

The experience was nothing short of magical. Upon reaching the entrance, I was greeted by a scenic trek through dense forest, which set the tone for the breathtaking adventure that awaited. The well marked trail made the journey enjoyable for both seasoned trekkers and beginners like myself. I suggest take the walking route. The waterfall is very beautiful but the crowd is too much. We visited this place in June 2023. Overall a must visit destination for nature enthusiasts.

Fall is really beautiful and height is around 30-40 feet. Nearly 90km from Dehradoon. Roads were good and crowd was decent. You can either go with diwn hiking or can go in your car. Limited parking facility with first come first serve. Food options were there too like Maggie, omelette, sandwich etc. You can take bath in the fall.

Tiger Fall is a hidden gem in the hills of Chakrata, Uttarakhand. It is one of the highest waterfalls in India, with a height of 50 meters. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and rocky terrain, creating a stunning contrast of colors and textures.
The sound of the water crashing on the rocks is soothing and exhilarating at the same time. To reach the waterfall, one has to trek for about 2 km through the forest, which is an enjoyable and adventurous experience. The trek offers scenic views of the mountains, the valley, and the flora and fauna.
The waterfall is a perfect spot for a picnic, a bath, or a photo session. The water is cold and refreshing, and the mist and the rainbow add to the beauty of the place. Tiger Fall is a must-visit for nature lovers, trekkers, and photographers. It is a place where one can relax, explore, and have fun in the lap of nature. Tiger Fall is a memorable and rewarding destination for anyone who visits Chakrata.

I recently had the privilege of visiting the Gurudwara, and I must say it was a truly remarkable experience.
The Gurudwara's architecture exuded grace and grandeur, showcasing the rich Sikh heritage. The pristine white walls, adorned with intricate designs, created a tranquil atmosphere conducive to introspection and prayer.
The langar was an embodiment of selfless service and unity. The delicious vegetarian food was prepared with utmost love and devotion and the volunteers humility and dedication were inspiring.
The prayer hall was a sanctuary of solace. The melodious recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, accompanied by soul-stirring hymns, transported me to a realm of spiritual bliss. The ambiance was filled with devotion and reverence, creating an atmosphere conducive to deep contemplation.
I highly recommend a visit to this Gurudwara to anyone seeking solace, spiritual enlightenment, and a glimpse into the Sikh way of life.

This place is one of the key attractions of the city, and must say they have a strong internal control system and one can even stay there for the whole day without getting bored listening to 'शबद' .
You must have Langar prashad there specially Curry chawal and yes Yamuna view from the back side of Gurudwara is not something you'd want to miss.
One lesser star is for that area which is crowdy and without any maintainance outside of the gurudwara.
Some places are not just peaceful they are spiritually beautiful too and this place is one of them. LOTS OF LOVE for the Community..... ❣️

Got the opportunity to visit this holy place along with my family on a pretty cold Sunday in January 2023. It's located very near to the border of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It is said Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed here for more than 4.5 years and wrote many religious books. This place exhibits a few weapons and pens used by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Just like any other Gurudwara this one is immaculate and peaceful. Situated on the banks of Yamuna River, it offers a serene view of the riverbed and mountains. Must visit the ghat and the Hanuman Mandir located below.

Gurudwara Paonta Sahib is a revered shrine of the Sikh religion. This sacred shrine not only renders a spiritual comfort, but also offers us an insight into how Sikhism has sustained. The place got its name either from the fact that Guru Gobind Singh set his foot here or because he lost an ornament here that he used to wear on his foot.
As per stories, the Gurudwara was once visited by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth guru of the Sikhs. The Sikh Guru came to Sirmour on the invitation of the Raja Medini Prakash and was so impressed with the courtesy of the king that he decided to spend the next four years at Poanta and left a written account of his life in the kingdom, which he described as the happiest years of his life.
It is said that, once Raja Medini Prakash and Guru ji were exploring the place. On their excursion, Guruji was so much impressed that he decided to construct a camp on the bank of the river. Guruji laid the foundation of this holy city with his own scarred hands and named it Paon-tikka, which is known as Paonta Sahib today. As a token of respect and gratitude, Raja Medini Prakash decided to build a Gurudwara on the bank of Yamuna River. Before leaving the Gurudwara, Guruji fought many battles against some of the neighbouring hamlets.

Beautiful place. Very well managed and organised. Can be crowded during some days. Mostly crowded during the weekends. Beautiful river view at the rear. We had awesome langar. Car parking is also available which is free of cost. There are shop’s available outside as well for souvenirs. If coming from Uttarakhand side, then state entry tax needs to be paid at the barrier. Wahe guru ji ! 🙏🏻

It holds great religious importance for Sikhs as it is associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru. Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent several years in Paonta Sahib and composed many Sikh religious texts, including parts of the Guru Granth Sahib, during his stay there.
Some key attractions in Paonta Sahib include the Gurudwara Paonta Sahib, which is a major pilgrimage site for Sikhs, and the Yamuna Temple, located on the banks of the Yamuna River. Surrounded by sal forest and on the banks of river Yamuna, the historic town of Paonta Sahib (350m) was founded by the Tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh. When only 16 years old, the Guru left Anandpur Sahib and on the invitation of Raja Maidini Prakash of Sirmour, lived at this beautiful spot for over four years. The historic gurudwara commemorates his stay and interestingly the water of the Yamuna fall silent below this which happened at the Guru’s behest. The word Paonta means ‘Space for a foothold’.
Paonta Sahib is connected by road. From Renukaji. It is 81 km via Nahan and 60 km via Rajban. From Dehradun, it is 44 km. The closest railheads are at Ambala and Dehradun. The nearest airports are at Chandigarh and Dehradun. Taxis/buses are available for Paonta Sahib at all places. In winter, the temperature can hover around freezing point when heavy woolens are required. Summer temperature are high and cottons are recommended.

We visited Gurudwara Paonta Sahib on our trip to dehradun and it was our ist destination and I just mesmerized by the beauty of the sculpture ❤️📿
This is what is called God's way of beckoning traveller's and we entered the Gurudwar...
Tranquility and charming simplicity were the immediate impression one sensed as we proceeded to the inner sacred precincts...
There was a sense of calmness and serenity and all external noises receded to a remote background
The complex has a level overlooking the Yamuna and the river looked extraordinary peaceful for the mighty river Yamuna..and was later told of the story behind the taming of the Yamuna by the 10th Guru Gobind Singh who founded and resided for 3 years at Paonta Sahib.
