I recently had the privilege of visiting the magnificent Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar, and I must say, it was an awe-inspiring experience. This ancient temple deserves every bit of its 5-star rating.
Perched atop the Shankaracharya Hill, the temple holds immense importance for Hindus. It is believed to have been built around 200 BC by the revered philosopher and scholar, Adi Shankaracharya. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the most revered deities in Hinduism, and serves as a prominent pilgrimage site for devotees.
The significance of the Shankaracharya Temple lies not only in its architectural splendor but also in its spiritual aura. As I climbed the stone steps leading to the temple, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of reverence and connection to the divine. The panoramic views of Srinagar and the surrounding valley only added to the sanctity of the place.
Inside the temple, I was greeted by a beautiful idol of Lord Shiva, radiating an aura of tranquility and divinity. The priest shared insightful stories and teachings associated with the temple, deepening my understanding of Hindu traditions and beliefs.
The architectural style of the Shankaracharya Temple reflects the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and showcases intricate carvings and craftsmanship. It stands as a testament to the devotion and artistry of the past.
For Hindus, a visit to the Shankaracharya Temple is not just a spiritual journey but a reaffirmation of their faith and connection to Lord Shiva. It is a place where devotees seek blessings, solace, and guidance.
I highly recommend visiting the Shankaracharya Temple to anyone traveling to Srinagar, especially those interested in exploring Hindu spirituality and the cultural heritage of Kashmir.
Overall, my experience at the Shankaracharya Temple was unforgettable. It left me with a profound sense of spirituality and a deeper appreciation for the significance of this sacred place in Hinduism. It is undoubtedly a must-visit destination in Srinagar.

This temple is situated on the Hill. You will find lot of people visiting to this place. Security is available through out and will keep the count on the vehicle going up with number of people. Might be you have to walk approximately for 400 meters since so many vehicles are there. On reaching to the temple you get the security check plus need to climb approximately 250 stairs to reach the temple but it's worth to reach and see the oldest temple and the 360 degree view of Srinagar

Wonderful tulip garden, pride of India. Very well managed. The garden has wide variety of Tulips and other flowers. One can spend as much as you want. There are benches to sit and relax and enjoy the beautiful flowers and the surrounding mountains. Only problem is that it rains a lot during the Tulip season. The garden opens at 9 AM, after 6 PM the lights are on and it increases the beauty of the place. Best time to visit the tulip garden is about 10 to 11 AM to avoid rain. There are Wash rooms near the entry gate.

The best time to visit the Tulip Garden in Srinagar is the month of April, when the tulips are in full bloom and the annual Tulip Festival is held. Each color tulip carries its own significance. ...
Striped tulips were originally created from a virus. Indira Gandhi memorial tulip garden is the biggest tulip garden in the Asia.
Tulip petals are edible and can be used to replace onions in many recipes or even to make wine. At the peak of the tulip mania, the flowers were worth more than diamonds. the wonderful garden please visit once time.

The tulip garden in Srinagar is a breathtaking sight, with rows upon rows of vibrant tulips stretching as far as the eye can see. The fountains within the garden add a touch of elegance, their cascading waters reflecting the colorful blooms. Various tulip arrangements, from solid blocks of color to intricate patterns, create a mesmerizing tapestry of beauty. However, the absence of washrooms is a notable drawback amidst the garden's splendor.
Entry fee is Rs 75 for Indians and Rs 200 for foreigners.
No drinking water or any eatables available inside the park. Parking is another issue and total chaos ... Long walks to the park from parking , so carry water and energy drinks.

We visited on 31st of March 2022 and our experience was also awesome. Though at that time the place was full of crowded but after seeing the beauty it was worth a visit.
Better try to visit the place within last week of March to April 10th if you want to see real beauty of full bloom tulips. One of the must visiting place in it's season. Hope to visit this elegance once again in near future.

Its best to visit when tulips are blooming from March end to April 3rd week. Its little far away from Srinagar city center so not so crowded and there are so many varieties of tulips.
They have arranged it properly and you will take around 2 hours to explore the garden. Also you can experience beautiful sunset. There are terrace system here, so have slopes to climb to reach the top position in order to see properly blooming tulips.

We visited this garden just 2 days after it was thrown open for tourists.
Though location offers spectacular views and we feel pleasant vibes. Also being the only place in India where Tulips are cultivated we were very excited to witness it's beauty.
On arrival we were bit disappointed to see very less number of tulip bulbs.
What we see on insta,Reels is just small portion of garden.rest are just species of other flowers or tulip plant without flower or very little grown tulip.
Tourists spend double than actual price towards Airline Tickets just to enjoy tulips.Management should open this only when tulips are fully grown and garden offers dense variety of fully grown tulips.
For photos there is a bit relief as management also offers tulips in pots so that you can at least click some photos with full grown dense tulips grown in pots.

A nice place to visit. It is the largest tulip garden of Asia. Nice weather while I was visiting. Too many people visit here during the visiting hours of the day. Someone feels like crowded. But the place situated in the valley between the hills will surely mesmerize to you. Security personnel were everywhere so please don't do something unlawful activities. Nearby you can also enjoy the Dal Lake. You may park here your vehicle in large parking and also enjoy delicious food outside the garden.

Tulip Gardens was our first priority during this trip, and,
fortunately that happened since we came on the first week of April.
Well maintained garden, spreading over a vast scape
with capturing colours of Tulips.

(A full day is needed for a Photographic Enthusiast !)
The travel company offered us more than an hour in this vast scape of vibes !

Tulips were at 40-50% bloom, they must be at full bloom by apr 1st week, great place to visit, but very crowded due to seasonality. Be prepared to walk 1 km from parking. Avoid evenings, go as early as possible. Toilet/Lavatory facilities are absolute nonsense, there is a queue even for men (no urinals)

Pari Mahal was a place where Buddhist Monks used to meditate. The present structure was made by Dara Shikhou over and above the Buddhist Monastery ruins. There are certain compartments which are clearly evident to be related to Buddhist era.
The place is beautiful with sprawling gardens and a bird's eye view of the Dal lake and in fact the whole Srinagar city.
Next time whenever you go, be on a lookout for the elements that point out to a story contrary to the popular belief.

I was a bit disappointed at the visible modern-style renovations to the walls and fountain plumbing. The new stone work is identical to the renovations at other gardens like Nishat Bagh. It's nice to see that J&K tourism development agencies are doing maintenance, but the palace loses its historical charm when the original block work is gone.
I also wish there were more boards showing historical context and events. At present, there is only 1 very summarised plaque close to the entrance. It is always nice to know the history behind a majestic royal home.

Must visit place in Srinagar. There is nothing like fort but the structure is build in 7-8 step floors. Views from all these floors are too good. Specially helipad and dal lake view. Nice place for photography and garden. Can visit any time in a day. Ticke to be purchased offline.
Locals come here for picnic and they are playing cricket in the property. That should not permit.

The Chashma Shahi Garden is a lush, landscaped garden located in Srinagar, Kashmir. The garden was built by Governor Ali Mahtab Khan in 1632 AD and is considered one of the smallest Mughal gardens in Kashmir. The garden features a freshwater spring and is surrounded by hills. Chesma Shahi Garden, also known as Chashme Shahi, is a royal garden built in the Mughal era, located in the enchanting city of Srinagar. It is famed for its terraced lawns, meticulously manicured landscapes, and the central spring that is not only a visual delight but also historically renowned for its medicinal properties.

Though we heard a lot about this one but we really does not feel anything special about this. May be due to October season not much flower or decoration present in garden and it was looking very ordinary. It may be a good picnic spot and a good roam around for couples in the afternoon. Ticket price is less @ 25 per person. Inside garden you will find paid photographers who will take your photo at a cost in Kashmiri dress. May be it will become amazing in flowering season but for now 3 stars only.

The ancient ruins of a Vishnu temple, buried under by a powerful earthquake and discovered by the British during early 1900s showcases the rich and vibrant presence of hindu culture in the valley. The Avantiswami Temple is an ancient ruined Hindu temple located on the banks of the Jhelum River, 28 km away from Srinagar in Awantipora, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It's ruins once consisted of two temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu, and were built under king Avantivarman of the Utpala dynasty in the 9th century CE. The site is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Locals call the temple Pandav Lari, meaning "house of the Pandavas".
The Avantishwar temple lies before the Avantiswami Temple. It is located in the Jawbrari area. A main entrance gateway is all that remains now. Avantishwar temple has also faced the most damage. Once you cross the gateway of Avantishwar temple, you will find yourself in a court surrounding the main shrine in the center.
The entrance walls of the temple are heavily decorated with sculptured reliefs. Statue of the King himself can also be found, just ask the guide. The Avantishwar Mandir was built even before Avantiverman was crowned the King. Avantiverman during his reign from 855 CE to 883 CE, built many Hindu temples in Avantipur when he made it his capital.
If you are already well versed with different ancient architectural styles, you will notice that the architecture of the Avantiswami temple is influenced by the ancient Buddhist Gandhara school of art. It is a well known fact that the Greek and Hellenistic art and architecture left an indelible mark on the Buddhist Gandhara school of art itself. Archeologists and historians have also argued that the temple architecture of Kashmir also reflects Roman features, which I agree to some extent. But no one knows for sure, at least as of now.
The two tiered gabled roof can still be seen in the architecture of the wooden Hindu temples which I noticed in the central and western Himalayan region of North India. The roof always tops the wall niche which contained a statue or sculpture of a Hindu God or Goddess.

Beautiful lush green slopes, fast moving clouds and breathtaking panoramic views of valley floors on either side.

Sinthan Top is a mountain pass,
a popular tourist destination located between South Kashmir's Breng Valley (Sub-District Kokernag) in Kishtwar district
This place is very freezing with minus degree temperature
We have beautiful view of snow mountains
Please keep a note mobile networks dont work here !! Always carry cash
Food and tea are available with bit high cost….
We even have sledge rides here. The ice is very dry and slippery
Some spots have soft ice and we even fall inside the ice
Overall its a beautiful place to experience once in a lifetime ✌🏻

Sinthan top is a spot 12000 ft above sea level in Kashmir which is midway on the newly opened Anantnag-kokernag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road. The road has been built and is maintained by BRo in excellent condition. It is 132 km from Srinagar. The journey is in itself an experience and once you reach the top it is 360 degree view, and snow everywhere. You can get down from the car and walk on snow. Sinthan Top is a less-known tourist spot in the outskirts of Srinagar that is gradually gaining popularity because of its natural beauty. It lies midway on the Anantnag-Kokernag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road, which was opened in recent years.
The road is well maintained by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that provides an easy access to this spot. Lying at an elevation of 12000 feet above the sea level, this place overlooks beautiful sceneries of the low-lying regions. The sprawling cover of snow paints this entire area in white, making it visually appealing. During most parts of the year, the area remains inaccessible due to heavy snowfall, and the best time to visit is between April and September.
Sinthan Top is perhaps one of the best natural beauty area I have seen in Kashmir. The new highway is so clear and safe and easily takes you to Sinthan Top. Most of the tourists are unaware of this place and even the cabbies will not take much pain or even botheration to inform you about this place.
The new highway is well-built and secure and almost effortlessly takes you to Sinthan Top. The vast majority of tourists are unaware of this place. The Sinthan top is around 12000 ft above sea level and is one of the finest experiences ever. Getting there may take a lot of time and energy for those who are occasional travelers but it is a place which is a must see for everyone. The road up is usually met with snow-formed streams at many places. The water level in these creeks is less and moves slowly throughout the year, thus offering an ideal spot for photo snappy tourists. Stop by, sit and relax on this gigantic stone with calm but cold stream flowing beside; a sight that simply mesmerizes your senses. Once you reach the very top, you would be simply blown away by the amazing vastness of the green mountains.

The ice is fresh and white. You can enjoy activities like sledge over here. Enjoy hot khawa, tea coffee maggie, although it might be expensive
No restrooms are available anywhere near the top. Warm clothes can be rented on the way to the top with a charge of 300rs for one garment set.

Hundreds of turns along the way. The drive is definitely worth it. Every bend on the road is a photographer's delight. Don't forget your camera. The area is known for its beauty and wonderful tourist attractions. The place is fast growing as one of the top tourist destination in Kashmir. The journey is in itself an experience and once you reach the top it is 360 degree view.

Located between South Kashmir's Breng Valley and Kishtwar, Sinthan Top is a mountain pass which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region. At a height of 3800 m, Sinthan Top draws many tourists with 360° gorgeous views of both Jammu Region and Kashmir Region. Being covered in snow throughout the year, this must-see place in Kishtwar attracts snow lovers as well.
The nearby Sinthan Maidan (24 km) is also becoming an important hub for trekking, mountaineering and skiing enthusiast. Not only this, Sinthan Maidan is a great family destination with activities like horse riding and paragliding on offer.

The destination is usually described. But the path to this destination is an experience that cannot be explained!

"The crowning glory of my Vaishno Devi pilgrimage was the mesmerizing view from Bhairo Mandir. After a challenging yet spiritually enriching trek, reaching Bhairo Mandir felt like ascending to a celestial realm. The panoramic vistas of the Trikuta Mountains were simply awe-inspiring, with every peak and valley creating a breathtaking tapestry of nature's grandeur.
From this elevated perch, the Vaishno Devi temple below appeared like a divine jewel embedded in the rugged landscape. The sense of accomplishment blended seamlessly with the spiritual awe as I gazed upon the sanctum from Bhairo Mandir. The tranquility of the surroundings added a serene touch, allowing for quiet introspection and a deep connection with the spiritual essence of the journey.
The meticulous planning and maintenance of the route from Vaishno Devi to Bhairo Mandir showcased the dedication of the temple authorities to provide a holistic pilgrimage experience. This journey not only tested my physical endurance but also uplifted my spirit, leaving an indelible mark on my soul. The culmination of the pilgrimage at Bhairo Mandir was a moment of pure bliss, where the earthly and divine elements converged in a harmonious spectacle, etching an unforgettable chapter in my spiritual journey."

They have really worked a lot and this place is now having good path, Electric transportation, Cable car, Helicopters and the best part is now you can travel from any where in India to directly Mata Vaishno Devi. Earlier you have to go to Jammu and from there catch bus. But now everything is so smooth.

Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir (bhawan) is one of the best holiest places in India. The mandir is too high from the Katra and has approx 15 km. Total Yatra or Journey of Holy 'Shree Vaishnav Mata Ji' and 'Shree Bhairav Baba Ji' takes around 12 to 15 hrs. It is very well-managed and beautifully oraganised by the Katra shrine board. Clean toilets along the way, several food stalls, drinking water points for every traveler, many benches to sit and rest all way. Entire trek was very beautiful and 90% shaded. its a life time experience to visit here. After mataji darshan we took rope way to reach bhairav baba temple, whose price is Rs 100 per person. bhairav baba mandir balcony is the great place to take photos/selfie.

Mata Vaishno Devi, also known as Vaishno Devi Mandir, is a popular Hindu temple located in the Trikuta Mountains in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Mata Vaishno Devi, who is believed to fulfill the wishes of her devotees.
The pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi begins at the base camp in Katra, which is about 42 kilometers from Jammu. From Katra, devotees have to trek uphill to reach the temple. The trek is approximately 13 kilometers long and passes through picturesque mountainous terrain.
The temple is situated at an altitude of around 5,300 feet above sea level. Devotees have to climb a flight of approximately 5,000 steps to reach the main shrine, which is located inside a cave. Alternatively, some devotees prefer to hire ponies, palanquins, or helicopters to reach the temple.
The shrine receives millions of devotees every year, especially during the auspicious occasions of Navratri and other festivals. The pilgrimage is considered highly significant in Hinduism, and devotees visit the temple to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi.
It's important to note that the information I provided is based on the knowledge available to me up until September 2021. It's always a good idea to check for any recent updates or changes regarding the pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi before planning your visit.

For people who travelled via Helicopter and same day return, VIP PASS issued from Helipad Counter.
We need to remember that we must have to return with in time mentioned on VIP SLIP.
We need to enter from Gate No 5 to avoid long queues which is clearly mentioned on Slip.
We can take Prasad from local shop and put all our bags there to save time.

Very nice place to visit if you go to Patnitop
I like to suggest some think if you're going Patnitop
1. From Katra you will find many people and agency that will help you out but You can also ask directly connect from driver there just ask anyone where you can find car stand its near Katra bus stand
Important - The price from Katra to Patnitop 5 seater car is around 2600-3000 (Round Trip means it will show you all the spot in Patnitop and Drop back to Katra ) most important here your bargaining skill will help you out.
Ask for Driver ID take photo of his car and no. Plate for safer side they will ask you the advance mostly 500 rs So you have also right to ask his ID Proof
2. There you will find a set of Overcoat with shoe if you like you can rent it around 200-250 rs otherwise carry one overcoat ( bargaining skill again )
3. In Patnitop there is only snow to look and the nature view that's why don't expect most.
You can find Snow Sledge ride they will ask you around 500 rs per person here you have to use your bargaining skill again
Carry Cash to avoid headache and go there in morning to avoid any issue

The Bahu Fort is a historic fort in the city of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. Constructed on the banks on Tawi River, the ancient fort is believed to be constructed by Rajput Raja Bahulochan around 3,000 years ago. It is believed that the first renovation of this fort was undertaken during Dogra Rule in 18th century. The fort is a religious place, and within its precincts has a temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. The temple is known locally as the "Bawe Wali Mata temple".The building of the city of Jammu and the Bahu Fort are linked to a legend. Raja Jambu Lochan, when on a hunting trip, witnessed a curious scene of a tiger and a goat drinking water side by side at the same location in the Tawi River, without the tiger attacking. The Raja considered this a divine direction to establish his new capital here, as the scene he witnessed at this site represented peaceful coexistence. His brother, Bahu Lochan, is credited with building the fort.
The fort is located on a high plateau land overlooking the Tawi River on its rocky left bank with an average elevation of 325m. The forest area that surrounds the fort has been developed into a well laid out park called the "Bagh-e-Bahu", from where a commanding view of the city of Jammu could be seen. The garden attracts a large number of visitors.[1]
The fort, the temple, and the Bagh-e-Bahu garden are located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the Jammu city centre. The city road to Surinsar was widened for providing approach to an Oil drilling exploration project. However, this project was shelved and consequently the widened new road provided better access to the fort and the temple, and the number of visitors to these places has since increased.
The fort structure is located at an elevation of 325 metres (1,066 ft), opposite to the old town of Jammu. The fortified structure has thick walls made of sandstones built with lime and brick mortar. It has eight octagonal towers or turrets connected by thick walls. The towers have enclosures to house guards. The main entry is fit to allow passage of elephants into the fort. A water tank with access for pilgrims to take bath is located on the left entry into the fort. This tank or pond is 6.1× in size and has a water depth of 4.6 metres (15 ft). A pyramidal structure is on the right flank (with very thick walls to withstand any gun attack) of the fort was an ammunition store. An underground chamber here was used a prison. This chamber has a secret exit to escape from the fort in case of any emergencies. The first floor is lavishly built with arches and decorated with floral designs like a Baradari or a palace.
To the right of the temple, there are a few halls which were used in the past as assembly halls and offices of the Quiledar (master of the fort). However, they are not maintained at all. The royal stables were also located within this fort. Substantial renovation and additions to attract visitors have been added during recent years.
The earliest historical recorded link to the fort is that of Raja Jambu Lochan and his brother Bahu Lochan, sons of a powerful ruler Agnigarbha II of the Jammu dynasty of Suryavanshi kings. Bahu, the eldest of Agnigarbha's 18 sons, is credited with establishing the Jammu city and building the fort. The earlier fort structure was modified over the years to a stronger fortified structure. The present fort was rebuilt, probably at the same location as the ancient fort, by Autar Dev, the grandson of King Kapoor Dev in 1585. Over the years the fort underwent demolitions and reconstructions from time to time, until during Sikh Empire the then new Governor/Raja of Jammu Maharaja Gulab Singh reconstructed the present fort in the 19th century, which was further refurbished during the rule of Maharaja Ranbir Singh. They first established temples for their tutelary deities; the image of Mahakali deity in the temple in the fort was brought from Ayodhya

While Mansar Lake itself is not designated as a wildlife sanctuary, the surrounding areas contribute to local biodiversity. The lake and its environs serve as a habitat for various bird species, including migratory birds during certain seasons. Additionally, the Mansar Conservation Reserve, located near the lake, was established to protect and conserve the local flora and fauna. The reserve enhances the overall biodiversity of the region and acts as a buffer zone for the lake. Very good picnic spot for outing. It is a holy place. Zoo nearby. We can spot many animals over there. There are hundreds of fishes which we can feed. There are dogs, peacocks etc. Best view is when the sun sets. But don't get too late because if you reach in the evening then you will miss a lot of activities.
Local shops nearby to eat.

Nice place to visit with family. Located next to surinsar lake and area developed by JDA. Adequate parking space is available (paid parking Rs 50/-). Rest rooms and eating joints there and also paid boating facility. Route from jammu via Sidra is good option and road is good. Other root is via samba with rough patches. If you are taking Sidra route, it is advised to get your car topped up as u will not find any refueling points enroute. Overall a good place to spend time with kids and family.

Beautiful temples, great vibes, pleasant weather.

No public toilets.
-> but it was fun going through between mountains & if you like long drive

I visited Khajjiar shortly after the monsoon (one of the best seasons to visit). It is a sprawling green meadow with a marsh lake in the middle and surrounded all around by deodar trees. There is a cottage run by Himachal tourism situated right in the meadow (the iconic photo that you see when you search Khajjiar in Google), where you can book your stay through the Himachal tourism website. It was lush green and the weather was pleasant in September. The good thing about Khajjiar is that it's not overcrowded (yet). There is so much fresh air and tranquility. You can take a good walk around the perimeter and then sit on a bench and enjoy the view how much ever you want. This place is a great escapade from the noise and crowd of the city.

My experience at Khajjiar Lake was far from impressive. I visited in the month of December and without the picturesque snow, the place loses its charm, leaving little else to captivate visitors. The lake itself is ordinary, and the surroundings lack the magic that comes with a snowy landscape.
When the snow is absent, Khajjiar Lake becomes just another average spot, lacking the allure that's often associated with this destination. I'd advise skipping it unless you're fortunate enough to catch it during the rare snowy season. Without the snow, it's a rather unremarkable visit.

Dainkund Peak is a scenic tourist attraction with a temple located at the top, offering magnificent views. The uphill trek of around 1.5 km features some inclines and steps along with straight natural paths. Visitors can experience cold breezes, especially during winter when the fields are covered in snow. During summers, it offers lush greenery with residual snow. The location's picturesque scenery makes it an excellent spot for capturing nature photography.
Amazing experience. Little step climb but good path has been made to reach the top. U will get ice patches on the way. It will be too breezy , so carry proper cold clothing.

At a distance of 17 km from Dalhousie Bus Stand, Dainkund Peak, perched at an altitude of 2755 m, is the highest mountain peak in Dalhousie. This is the most important peak and also a very popular place to visit in Dalhousie. Tourists can enjoy 360° view of the entire valley from this peak.
Dainkund is also a famous place for short trekking near Dalhousie. The name Dainkund is said to have been derived from Dain - Kund, which means Lake of the Witches. It is believed that in old days this mountain was the residence of witches. The sound of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also acquired the name, the singing hill.
This peak has two major attractions; one is the Indian Air Force base and the other is the Pholani Devi temple, which is a temple of great importance. One of the most interesting facts about this temple is that, except a trident there is nothing inside the temple premises. The peak offers a clear view of the flow of the rivers Ravi, Chenab and Beas which flow at the base.
Trekking is the most common path to get to the top and is a beautiful experience, with great views and fresh cool mountain air. Being the highest peak, it gets maximum snowfall during the winter season. The ascent to the Dainkund begins after crossing Lakkar Mandi. About 6 km drive from Lakkar Mandi leads to Indian Air Force Barrier, where the cars are parked. From the end of the motor able road to the temple one has to walk around 3 km of which the first km is very steep. However, this steep stretch of walk is quite safe as the path is made of wide concrete steps.

Chilling spot surrounded by cedrus forest. Lake itself is made artificially by damming the stream on the flat terrace are. The banks are turned into the park zone with walking paths, number of benches, trash bins and places for picnic. Fast food facilities are also available, but not operating throughout whole year. Lack of maintenance from municipal services leads to intensive trashing of the place.
Triund is a mountain peak that provides breathtaking views and campsites for trekking enthusiasts. Accessible by trekking from Bhagsunag waterfall for approximately 5-6 hours, the route boasts of chai spots along the way. Local food options are available at Bhagsunag, but none at Triund where prices for basic items like water bottles can be high (Rs. 80). 2.If you are not staying at triund trek camp then start your treking before 9am i.e start your journey at 7.30am from your hotel. Take taxi and reach gallu temple then start treking.
3. This trek is not Children friend. Please avoid to go with clidrens below 14 years.
4. Plese take bamboo and wooden stick from nearby gallu's temple dhabas. It just cost you rs 50 rent and 100 security.
5. Trek is full of sharp stones and narrow paths so be careful.
View is very Amazing spend some time at top have food tea at top, take pics.
6. Try to come back before 5.30 pm

Top view was scenic and breathtaking but i would recommend actual mountain lovers to go on weekdays. During holidays there are a lot of party people with their loud bluetooth speakers destroying the peaceful mountain atmosphere. At top you can enjoy beautiful sunsets, moon rise and sky full of stars. Be sure to carry warm clothes as temperature drops real quick. Don’t rely on just sleeping bags. Have a great journey

Trekked during the month of Jan. And it was completely covered by snow. We didn't expect the level of snow it would have. But it was such a splendid view. We enjoyed to the core. I would definitely visit again and camp there. Two lovely dogs which i fed with half of the biscuits at a tea stall in base accompanied me to the top of the hill. They stayed with me untill i got back. I gave like 2/3rd share of my bread pack to them 😁

Truind Trek was an absolute adventure! The trail is well-marked and offers stunning panoramic views throughout. Here's a quick guide to the trek:
1. Start Early: Begin your trek early to catch the sunrise over the majestic mountains.
2. Moderate Difficulty: The trek is moderately challenging with a mix of steep ascents and descents. Suitable for beginners with reasonable fitness levels.
3. Scenic Beauty: Be prepared to be mesmerized by the lush green meadows, vibrant red flowers, and breathtaking vistas.
Don't miss out on this incredible experience!

Embarking on this trek offers a moderate level of difficulty with numerous breathtaking views along the way. It's essential to wear sturdy shoes and uphold a commitment to avoid littering.
Even if you're a beginner, fear not – with a little precaution and motivation, the trek is manageable. The stunning views encountered during the journey make the entire experience worthwhile.
Beyond the physical challenge, treks like these prompt internal reflections. Amidst the mountains, one realizes their smallness in the vast world, gaining perspective on life's battles. Embrace the journey, capture the beauty, and remember that, in the grand scheme, challenges are temporary.

Truind Trek offers a diverse experience suitable for both novice trekkers and seasoned adventurers. The trek provides breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar range and McLeodganj, Bhagsu, & Dharamkot along the way. It's moderately difficult yet manageable in 4-6 hours, with the option to camp overnight for a mesmerizing starlit experience. However, be prepared for weather changes, as mist may obstruct views at the top. Carry essentials like a torch, and consider staying at the forest guest house or camping. Don't forget to bring raw chicken and drinks for a hearty meal, and capture the journey with an SLR camera. Truind Trek promises unforgettable moments amidst nature's beauty.

We started our trek from shiva cafe ( dharmshala) and it took approximately 6 hours to complete the trek and it was an amazing experience. Trek wasn’t very easy neither was it very tough. The view after completing the trek was all worth it. Triund is surrounded by Dhauladhar Mountain range and the view was breathtaking. We witnessed a beautiful sunset after reaching the top and then a mesmerising sunrise in the morning. Temperature went below zero degrees at night coz of dhauladhar range. Overall if you like trekking and love amazing views then Triund is a must visit place for you.

Ancient Hindu temple in a secluded compound with a pool & trails leading to a waterfall.
Bhagsu Naag Falls is closely situated to the Bhagsu Naag Temple after which these falls named after.
Very beautiful ❤️
Off season (winters) water is very less because it freezes over the hills hence water fall is thinner during off season.
During season you'll be mesmerized by the beauty of this place.

Bhagsu Temple, nestled in the serene hills of Dharamshala, India, offers a tranquil retreat for spiritual seekers and tourists alike. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, exudes an aura of ancient mysticism, with its intricate architecture and peaceful surroundings. Visitors can immerse themselves in the soothing ambiance, meditate, or participate in religious ceremonies.
Adjacent to the temple lies the Bhagsu Swimming Pool, a refreshing oasis amidst the Himalayan landscape. Surrounded by lush greenery, the pool provides a rejuvenating escape from the summer heat. Its crystal-clear waters beckon travelers to take a leisurely swim or simply relax by the poolside, basking in the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Nice authentic temple with a swimming pool. Often crowded. Avoid on the weekend as it is getting seriously popular among Indian tourists who come from all around to visit, and if you going there from MacleodGanj, you might get stuck in a horrible traffic jam! . From the temple there is a very nice hike towards the water fall.
Again!! AVOID GOING THERE ON A WEEKEND 😉

Such a beautiful place to find peace and worship here. It also has a fascinating view from the temple. Spend some time with yourself here, it qlso has a waterfall which is kind of trek to reach there, but nothing specual about thay waterfall, you can even skip it. But temple is a must visit

It was not worth the hype. The temple is small. Not managed well.Pandit ji was there but special puja are not done fyi.
The only good part was the clean pool adjacent to it. Surprisingly many people are using it.
Overall not worth a visit to this place ,but we were here for 5 days so had some spare time. The waterfall can hardly be called so and nothing great about it. After the Triund trek this was a disappointing trek. Takes 30 mins to climb up from the temple to the waterfall . There is zip lining too in case that interests.

Bhagsunath Temple, Kangra
A medieval shrine, Bhagsunath is Shiva Temple situated about 3kms from Mcleodganj. The temple has been highly revered by the Hindus and the Gorkha Community. The sacred shrine is famed for its two pools that are believed to have healing properties. The best time to visit Bhagsunath Temple is during the annual fair that takes place here in the month of September. The Dal Lake, Kotwali Bazaar and Bhagsu Fall are the main attractions around this holy shrine.
History:The legend has that King Bhagsu built this temple after seeking forgiveness from Snake God. It is believed that Nag Devta was raged in anger as King Bhagsu stole water from the sacred Nag Dal Lake here. Later, the king repented and built the temple in reverence to Nag Devta.
According to another legend, this shrine was the patronage of a specific Gorkha community called Bhagsuwala (after the God Bhagsunag). It is also believed that these rulers built the two pools of water here with tiger-head spouts. A double-story wooden house for pilgrims was also built by them.

Awesome experience. Dip your hands and legs immersed. Chilled water. Did not see anybody jumping into the pool. Accumulated water at the other end had moss and could be dangerous. The temple itself has a very serene atmosphere dedicated to Lord Shiva, Snake God's, Shani Dev, Devi Maa, Lord Ganesh and Bhakt Shiromani Hanuman! From here there is an uphill trek towards Bhagsu Waterfall. Not much water now though due to reduced rains. Check before you venture. Lot of eateries nearby... You can spend 1-2 hours here.
An auto from Mcleodganj rickshaw stand costs 70 bucks, Return you can easily walk down. Not more than 20 minutes.

Nestled amidst the serene mountains of Dharamshala, the temple exudes an aura of tranquility and devotion. As I approached the temple, I was captivated by its architectural beauty and the picturesque surroundings.
Upon entering the temple premises, I was greeted by the soothing chants and prayers, which instantly filled me with a sense of peace and reverence. The atmosphere inside the temple was serene, with devotees offering their prayers and seeking blessings from the deity.
The main deity, Lord Shiva, presides over the temple, and the sanctum sanctorum exudes a divine energy that is palpable to all who visit. The intricate carvings and vibrant paintings adorning the walls add to the temple's allure, showcasing the rich heritage and cultural significance of the region.

Visiting this serene place offers a profound sense of peace and tranquility. Watching the monks engage in their daily prayers fills the atmosphere with a calming energy. Taking a leisurely walk around the exterior of the complex is a truly enchanting experience. The beauty of the surroundings, adorned with prayer wheels along the path, adds to the spiritual ambiance. Each turn of the prayer wheel symbolizes a devout wish or prayer, creating a rhythmic harmony with the surroundings. Amidst the quietude, one can't help but feel a deep connection to the spirituality and history of the place. This complex has the Tibet memorial, namgyal monastery, official residence of H.H. Dalai Lama and various hostels/offices which are not open for normal tourist. Some basic things that one must remember here;
1. Always wear masks
2. Follow the rules written on the wall
3. Maintain silence in the temple.
The namgyal monastery was set up by H.H. Dalai Lama and other refugees who came from Tibet after China's invasion. It has the reamin of the main idol of the original namgyal monastery from Tibet. You can sit and pray outside the main temple, as there are a lot of mattresses and area for public.
One needs to maintain silence there all the time. There is drinking water available but please don't use it untill it's necessary because the residents of the complex are already facing water shortage.
Enjoy the area, pray and learn about Buddhism, Tibet and H.H. Dalai Lama.

I've always seen the stadium on TV. But, when I got a chance to visit it in reality, I observed that the stadium is even more beautiful.
It is situated on a long height of 1457m.
The views of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges from the stadium, especially in winters covered with snow, is mesmerizing.
You can sit for hours with those scenery.
You've to take tourists tickets (Rs. 30 per person as of Feb 24) to visit the stadium on non-match days.
The entry for tourists is allowed from Gate 2 (not on Google Maps). You've to ask from some locals as the gate is located inside a small road.

The Masroor Rock Cut Temple is a cluster of monolithic sandstone temples located in North India. These ornate structures were carved from living rock between the 8th and 10th centuries, displaying beautiful architectural carvings that have suffered severe erosion over time. The temple complex bears similarities to smaller temples at Angkor Wat in Cambodia and offers a stunning reflection when viewed from the nearby tank.
This is a rare monolithic temple of Northern India. It is a marvelous heritage of India.
Very well maintained by archeology department of Indian government.
Tickets can be purchased online only.
Also the temple complex is very best and clean. 2 3 stalls out side for food and beverages.

A peaceful tranquil place that gives you a view that will be with you for life. The view of the temple from across the lake is the best. While it can get really hot during peak summer the way we experienced in June 22, however if you carry an umbrella, you can walk around without much fatigue.
There is plenty of shade to sit and enjoy the view. You can also walk beyond the lake to enjoy some Maggi or other quick snacks or biscuits or soft drinks.
Photo options are a plenty.
Overall a place worth going to and spending at least couple of hours to soak in the peace and awe of the view and wonder about how many centuries back people would have carved out these structures and what would've motivated them to do it.

Amazing to see such an old structure with intricate sculptures. There is a lot of erosion though. There is no guide to help you appreciate the place better.
Many structures are glued together or reinforced to help stay in shape.
Going up the stairs gets you nice view of the scenery around as well as the top view of the temples.
Well spent hour.

Beautiful place. Not known too much as it is quite a distance from the main city. But the journey was worth it. The rock cut temples show our rich heritage and depicts the kind of art we had in our country. It is partially destroyed due to an earthquake in 1905 but the remaining part is well maintained. However food facilitates not close by so don't plan this visit so as to overlap with lunch times.

Quite clean, nice, beautiful, & calm place to visit. You have to buy a ticket online to visit the temple & then you can go inside. It's a simple temple but, the artistry of cutting a single rock is an awesome experience.

Old temple carved out of monolithic rock, peaceful environment around temple with a small lake which has fishes.
Temple is located in masrur village which is on top of a mountain so driving your own vehicle is recommended or u can also take a taxi.

A hidden beauty far away from all the limelight. Takes about 2hrs to reach from Dharmashala by car. No bus routes available nearby. A digital entry fee directly payable through app( no cash taken). This temple is in complete ruins post a massive earthquake in 1800’s. No much history is known, no guides available. But the massive ruins speaks for itself the magnificent temple that existed earlier. A pond is beautifully constructed in front, which still has certain ruins beneath it. Apart from the ruins, the view of the temple from the top is heart breaking! However, the sunset view is spectacular at the top!

This Temple is a truly breathtaking site to behold. The intricate carvings and stunning architecture of this temple leave visitors in awe of its beauty and history.
The temple, located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, is believed to have been built during the 8th century by the Pandavas. It is said to have been carved out of a single rock, which is a testament to the incredible skill and craftsmanship of its builders.
The intricate details etched into the walls and pillars of the temple depict various gods and goddesses, mythological scenes, and celestial beings. The beauty and intricacy of these carvings are truly awe-inspiring.
Visiting the Rock Cut Temple Masroor is an experience that will stay with you for a long time. The peaceful surroundings and beauty of the temple offer a spiritual and serene atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere. I highly recommend visiting this extraordinary site if you are in the area.

Very well maintained in such a remote place.
Approach road to the temple is narrow and not good. Drive slowly and carefully. Could see landslide on the way.

This temple is a marvelous heritage of India. This is a rare monolithic temple of Northern India. The temple is built by carving a single type of stone and it's beautiful.
Entry fee is just Rs 20 and tickets can be purchased only via the online method for which there is a personal to help. I enjoyed my visit here and would recommend this place.
Everything is great apart from the lake. The lake needs to be cleaned as it's very dirty and you can see plastic and dead fish floating.

Very beautiful rock cut temples that were partially destroyed by the 1905 earth quake. All the temples were defaced and some faces missing maybe done during the mughal rule. Not sure though. Take 1.5 hour to reach here from Dharamshala by car. The place is overall clean and has a nice tea stall outside. Worth the visit if you're interested in history

The Rock Cut Temples of Masroor, located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India, are an impressive architectural marvel dating back to the 8th century. Carved out of a single rock, these temples exhibit intricate detailing and craftsmanship, reminiscent of classical Indian architecture.
Visitors are often awe-struck by the grandeur of the temple complex, which consists of a group of rock-cut temples dedicated to various Hindu deities, primarily Lord Shiva. The main temple, dedicated to Shiva, features a towering shikhara (spire) and intricately carved bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
While the temples have suffered some damage over the centuries due to natural erosion and earthquakes, they continue to stand as a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisans who created them.
Visitors to the Rock Cut Temples of Masroor can expect a serene and picturesque setting amidst the backdrop of the Dhauladhar mountain range. The site offers opportunities for exploration and photography, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers exploring the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh. However, accessibility and infrastructure around the site may be limited, so visitors should plan accordingly.

Recently explored Masroor Rock Cut Temple (11-11-23) – a hidden gem for a family picnic. Even during the Diwali Festive Season, the serene atmosphere prevailed with fewer crowds. The temple, a marvel of ancient architecture, left me in awe. The journey from Kangra unfolded breathtaking mountain views, riverside scenery, and enchanting pine forests. The road, though occasionally bumpy due to recent heavy rains, was generally well-maintained.
Entrance fees were surprisingly low, and the online ticketing process, facilitated by the attentive guard, ensured a smooth experience. The strategically located restroom atop a hillock provided not only convenience but also a panoramic view of the surroundings. Cleanliness was a pleasant surprise.
A quaint eatery near the temple offered delightful treats – from scrumptious Vegetable Maggie and momos to an outstanding pizza. The pizza, in particular, was a standout. I cherished nearly two hours in this picturesque setting, perfect for both photography enthusiasts and those seeking a relaxed picnic spot. Masroor Rock Cut Temple is not just a place; it's a reason to take pride in our rich heritage.

Chintpurni Temple is located around 80 km from Dharamsala. The presiding deity is Goddess Chintpurni, who is said to remove worries, and is represented by a pindi (round stone idol). Legend has it that when Lord Vishnu severed Maa Sati's body in 51 parts to end Lord Shiva's dance of cosmic destruction, the parts got scattered over different places in India. Here are few tips for easy darshan:
Park the car in government parking place, take taxi that charge 200 per trip. Taxi drop point is gate no. 2.
Only taxis are allowed to reach at gate no.2.
Gate number 2 is near to the temple and with very less steps. It was very comfortable for MIL who has knees problem.
Right your feedback if you found this way for easy darshan.

Mata Chintpurni is a very popular temple in the Hindu community. A lot of people visit daily to seek the blessings of Mata Rani.
The temple is very well organized and the people management is amazing. There are two parking available and I would suggest parking your vehicle in the first parking which is the government one as the charges are quite low and you can get a darshan token from there.
The temple has started the lift, which wants to go directly in front of the darbar. The lift is free for old age people and handicapped people. But others have to pay a fee of 1100/- to avail of this service. Token for the loft is available is first parking only.

Ancient origin
When Lord Vishnu severed the burning body of Maa Sati into 51 pieces so that Lord Shiva would calm down and stop his Tandava, the pieces were scattered over various places in the Indian subcontinent. It is believed that Sati's head fell at this place and is thus considered one of the most important of the 51 Shakti Peethas.
The goddess residing in Chintpurni is also known by the name of Chhinnamastika. According to Markandeya Purana, goddess Chandi defeated the demons after a fierce battle but two of her yogini emanations (Jaya and Vijaya) were still thirsty for more blood. Goddess Chandi cut off her own head to quench Jaya and Vijaya's thirst for more blood.
She is usually shown holding her own severed head in her hand, drinking one stream of blood spurting from the arteries in her neck, while at her side are two naked yoginis, each of whom drinks another stream of blood.
Chhinnamasta, the headless goddess, is the Great Cosmic Power who helps the sincere and devoted yogi to dissolve his or her mind, including all the preconceived ideas, attachments and habits into the Pure Divine Consciousness. Cutting off the head suggests the separation of the mind from the body, that is the freedom of the consciousness from the material confines of the physical body.
According to Puranic traditions, Chhinnamastika Mata will be protected by Shiva – Rudra Mahadev in the four directions. There are four Shiva temples – Kaleshwar Mahadev in the east, Narayhana Mahadev in the west, Muchkund Mahadev in the north and Shiva Bari in the south – which are nearly equidistant from Chintpurni. This also confirms Chintpurni as the abode of Maa Chhinnamastika.

Chintpurni Temple is dedicated to Mata Chintpurni Devi who is also at times referred to as Mata Chinnamasta. Chinna means ‘without’ and Masta stands for ‘Head’.
Out of all the pieces, it is believed that Maa Sati’s head fell here, making it one of the most important Shaktipeeth. Mata Chintpurni Devi is a symbol of self-sacrifice and according to legend, she is protected by Lord Shiva in the four directions. As such, there are four temples surrounding the main temple. Kaleshwar Mahadev is present in the east, Narayhana Mahadev is found in the west, Shiva Bari in the south, and Muchkund Mahadev in the north.
