One of the widest and gorgeous waterfalls in India! The sight of the very wide to very small streams rushing down through the trees and so on is beautiful.
I think August is the best time to enjoy the wilderness of the waterfalls. During August, all major dams open after heavy rainfall.
View points maid by tourism department is ideal to enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls. It ensures safety of every visitor.

My last visit was on the first week of April. Even at that time many waterfalls where active. I would say It'll really beautiful and serene during the monsoon.
They charge Rs 20/- for car entry. Large parking space is available. There is stairs to climb down to the foothill of waterfall. But when we visited it was closed halfway. Rs 5 per person is charged to get down halfway too. Well you get slightly better view from halfway gallery.
Not much activities though but kids will be happy to see so many monkeys there.
Sachin Khandelwal — Google review
One of the best waterfalls in Karnataka. Best to visit in rainy season as there will be more water. There are 2 view points here. Both give us an amazing view.
Shreyalakshmi Rajan — Google review
Very good place to visit in a day trip from Bengaluru. However, in 2023 rainfall is less. Hence the water falls have narrowed. That's not so good to see. Road towards the falls are not maintained well. It doesn't feel that we are on the way to visiting such a famous place. Some people stand in the way and take some money in the name of entry, parking, etc. But there is no such development, facility, infrastructure visible around. I believe that these are authentic persons tasked to maintain the tourist spot. Rest rooms don't exist or not easily identifiable. Needs a big infra development.
Purushottam Karmarkar — Google review
It's an amazing view point. We can experience pleasant breeze, but we cannot go into the water. We can see from the hill top as, it was closed at the time. And according to me if we are planning with kids we should not go down the lane.
Roshi Mutyala — Google review
One of the beautiful waterfalls in southern Karnataka. The view here is amazing! Perfect time to visit is during the monsoon/rainy season. The official timings are from 9am to 5pm, so if you reach here early, you'll have to wait outside the main gate. Better to reach here before 10am as it'll get crowded. There's a small entry fee for vehicles (10rs for bike). There is ample parking space. There are also benches available where you can sit and enjoy the view. As of now (November) they won't allow you to go to the bottom, but you can pay 5rs ticket and go till the 2nd bottom point. This is just 3hrs journey from Bangalore, perfect for a 1 day weekend trip.

This is the best place I’ve ever visited! It was mesmerising, the view and the calm that you receive is not explainable.
It is located far and the road that leads to this place is also not very smooth, so expect some jerking.
There are monkeys, so be careful about your stuff. For food and drinks, ample options are available to fill you up.
For taking a closer look at the falls, ticket is to be purchased for 50/ person.
Vaishali Rastogi — Google review
Wouldn't recommend if on a planned trip a fun drive or ride with friends that's all. The gate to go down near to the falls is blocked would have been more fun if it was opened rest all a good place to vibe with friends.
ALPHY Pereira — Google review
Earlier there was an easy access to base of the water fall where you can spend good time in water and enjoy, which is blocked now. Without that there isn't much to watch in hot weather.
Ample parking space.
Very less crowd.
Toilet is not directly visible but clean and present.

We can feel happiness of nature...not allowed near to the falls.... evening 5pm entry closed plan accordingly....road towards falls is bit damaged(Oct 2023)

Unbelievable experience due to mesmerizing scenic beauty of this place.
This falls is one part of the famous Shivanasamudra. If you are traveling from Bangalore then you will be visiting first Gaganachukki view point. From there this Barachukki view point is around 14 km.
This place gets closed at 5 PM. You need to pay 20 Rs for 4 wheeler car and 5 Rs each for every person entering the falls area. Not much option of having food here. You will get small stalls of coconut water, yummy Sugarcane juice etc. So plan accordingly.
View while traveling from Gaganachukki view point to Barachukki view point is also mesmerizing.
Overall nice place to enjoy your day out. Few food restaurants (very limited) you will get while coming to this spot. Not sure about the quality.
Debabrata Podder — Google review
It was really amazing to see the waterfalls and greenery around it. Water flows like milk. They won’t allow to go down till the falls, but you can enjoy the view from there it self. There is a ticket of 5Rs which you will get there it self no advance booking required. Suggest you to carry cash as there is no UPI payments also you can see few shops before entering the falls where you can have some snacks.

It's a very beautiful place to visit. Especially early morning.💯
We went on our bikes to visit the place and it was one amazing experience. Totally worth all that back pain.
Everyone definitely need to visit the place. At least once in their lifetime.

The waterfall is truly amazing when the water flow is high. You would find multiple view points to watch the waterfall. The view is scenic and relishing.
There is entry fee for the waterfall.
Many food eatery stalls are here. Parking is also available.
Pranu S — Google review
Another gorgeous waterfall just 130 KMs from Bangalore has a scenic view from the view points constructed closer to the falls. The intensity with which water falls gives a beautiful smoky view.
The best time to visit this place is immediately after monsoon or when water is plenty. Falls is surrounded by lush green landscapes.
There is ample of parking around.
There are some small eateries at the entrance and a KSTDC hotel and restaurant also. Apart from these, there are many places on the way.
Animesh Agrawal — Google review
Visited this place in August, flow was bit low but it is definitely a beautiful place to visit during monsoons. If you’re blessed with rain your visit will be worth of it.
A drive path is bit confusing as there are 3 such small and huge waterfalls in the areas, you must check and visit.
There is a forest entry fee you need to pay at entrance of forest.
prajesh rodgepatil — Google review
The waterfall and its surrounding areas are gorgeous. Post monsoon, there's plenty of water flowing and the views are amazing. The only caveat being we aren't allowed to go anywhere near the waterfall. We have to view it from quite a distance.
There are routes to go much closer, but they've been barricaded.
The drive near the waterfall, the peaceful hustle and bustle of the place, and the overall experience is very good.

Professional photographer available to capture your photo. You can collect prints from Rs. 50 to Rs. 100 based on size of photo print.
Great place for 1 day trip.
Limited seating places.
View points are awesome. Enjoyment guaranteed.
Road conditions to reach is very pleasant.
No hairpin bands.
Google map might show wrong directions for sometime, take help from locals or police to know correct directions towards waterfall.
VISHAL — Google review
Nice place to spend time but since there is no rain for a long time now that's why the water is less and you won't feel the rain fall much there but definitely once the rain season starts it will be a great scenery view and feel.
We reached around 10Am it was sunny hot weather.
Entry fee was 20rs each person before that you will get toll gate to enter here you need to pay 40rs per vehicle.
The washroom is also available and for refreshments coconut water, fruits, salad ice cream and snacks items were available there.
kundan kumar — Google review
It might be a great view point during the rainy season as the water flow would be great. There is an entry ticket of Rs 30 per car. You can enter only after 9am. From the entry gate you will have to drive about 3 to 4 kms. They have entry ticket of Rs 5 for each person to get down the stairs of around 100 steps to have a closer look at the falls. There is no toilet facility. I only saw a board but the toilet which I thought was supposed to be was locked.

Unbelievable experience due to mesmerizing scenic beauty of this place.
This falls is one part of the famous Shivanasamudra. and not much rain this year hence the water flow was less.
I will visit again in the rainy season.

View from the other side was awesome, can spend sometime here with family and friends. You can reach here and cant go near and bath on this falls, ticket is 5 rs. But on other way you can bath in the river and nature beauty. It is too crowded on the weekends. Can take some photos on this view, relax for sometime in evenings

Beautiful temple with rich history, and very well preserved. It’s great for a day trip from Bangalore and a short drive from many resorts on the banks of Kaveri river. If you are visiting as a group, you can hire a registered guide in the temple premises so you get to learn so many amazing things about the temple and its history. Lots of parking space outside, only ₹20 entry ticket per person.

This is a marvelous piece of architecture from our ancestors. The details in the carvings and sculptures are top notch. One cannot even imagine the effort and the process used in carvings that too without any machines. Simply outstanding! Near to Mysore and talakadu. Good one day outing from Bangalore. 5:30 pm is closing time. It is very well maintained area with good garden and washroom facilities. Entry fees 20/- per person (Indian) and only can be done online( guard will guide you how to do).

This is one of UNESCO recognised site as like mahabalipuram. Entry tickets (40 rupees)are only through online. You can go there directly and book the ticket. Security person will help you out. From Mysuru, it is 35 kms towards Bengaluru. One of the must watch place in ur life time. The way the temple was built is really astonishing and mind blowing. You must take family pic there. Each and every sculptures and pillars have a story to say. You will not believe that this was built by humans, but still have to.... Lot of films songs shooting have taken place here like Rajinikanth's film Arunachalam song 'Athanda Ithanda.....' and many other film songs. Located 40 kilometers from Mysore city, this destination is renowned for the Chennakesava Temple at Somanathapura, also known as Kesava Temple. The architecture is simply stunning and meticulously maintained. It's an ideal spot for capturing beautiful selfies or group photos with an impressive backdrop. Note that tickets may not be available at the counter, so it's advisable to book on the spot or in advance via online portal. Plan your visit accordingly for a seamless experience.

The Somanathpura Temple is built during the time of the Hoysalas, along with temples at Belur and Halebeedu. The temple location is easily 2.5 hours drive from Bengaluru. Worth a day trip over the weekend. The location is well maintained after it's received UNESCO world heritage site recognition. I was surprised to see it so clean and neat during my second visit recently.

This is a temple from the time of Hoysala Empire and has been made incredibly. The architecture of this place is mind-blowing. We were amazed to see the carvings on the walls as it has complete Ramayan and Mahabharata. The entry ticket is Rs. 20 per person which needs to be booked online or you can reach there, do the same through scan code. Guides are available at reasonable rates if you're interested more in architecture and carvings.

One of the best places to visit in mysore. And its a big garden it is located outside the the city. And the transport facilites are also good to reach the place. And in the olden times before 16 years they used to allow people walk on the dam pathway. Now the its not available and the main event is on the evening the shower dance. Its the must watch event. And parking facilities was really good with ample parking available. There is a boat riding services which is also available here.

It's a really beautiful garden decorated with flowers and water fountains.
The architecture of garden is amazing as it gives the feel of terrace with stairs with flowers all around it. You can see different kind of flowers spread across the garden.
During nights, there is light and water show in the garden.
For entry you can get tickets at the entrance and food stall and small shops with snacks are present in the garden but they will charge a little more.
Boating facility is also available in the garden.
Dam side view is also amazing. A good place for chilling out.

I recently visited a tourist garden that had once held promise but now languished in a state of neglect. While it was evident that the garden had seen better days, I couldn't help but appreciate the natural beauty that still managed to shine through. Though the maintenance was lacking, making it a less-than-ideal destination, the lush greenery and scenic surroundings, particularly during the monsoon season, made it worth a visit if you're seeking a temporary retreat.
Avinash Bunde — Google review
The park is good for time pass and a few photo clicks. Both the gardens are the same. Don't fall into the trap of different gardens. There's no light and music show since the last few months and will be operational after 6 months. The ticket counters (both entry and boating) will not intimate you about this. Recommended for verification before purchase of tickets.

Now not allowed to visit the dam (Top of the dam, because of leopard appeared in CCTV). Garden is very beautiful. In some areas maintenance is poor. Enjoy with boating for that they are collecting Rs 40 per head.Water fountains are very nice. Entry fee in to the garden is Rs.50 per person. For below 6 years children they are not collecting entry fee. For still cameras additionally have to pay Rs.100. Bus no.303 from Mysore City Bus Stand. Bus fare is Rs.30 from Mysore

An amazing fountain show experience here!
Initially we took a lot of time to find the place since Google maps wasn’t showing the right path! We went on a weekend and it was completely crowded and had difficulty walking amidst the crowd!
The musical fountain show was extremely amazing. Lights were really good too. It lasted only for 10 minutes. There are shows every 30 minutes interval.
Overall a good experience!

One of the best places to hangout and spend peaceful time in the gardens. have a family time. The bridge toll and parking fee is a total of 100rs and the ticket amount for adults above 6 years old is 50 rs and the rate for children 3 to 6 yrs old is 10 rs. The area has a ramp for the stroller and wheelchair. The garden is filled with many small fountains and good lighting and a lot of trees with small plants.
The garden is the down side of a dam. Where the spill way of the dam is flown in between through the garden. We can cross the spillway using boats and there is a small bridge to walk across.
Every evening there will be lighting and musical water shows available in the brindavan gardens. A lot of people can watch this wonderful show together from the gallery provided.
A boating facility is also available here. Different types of boats are available here.

It's a wonderful, scenic and serene place. The ticket cost around 50 rs for adults and 30 rs for children. The dam was visible from the park , however entry into the dam was forbidden due to construction and repairing. The view was breathtaking. The best time to visit would be at 6.45 or after as that's when the musical dancing water foutain shows take place

One of the most beautifully laid out terrace gardens.
Rose gardens on either side of the south gate are worth seeing.
You can take a boat to get to the musical fountains and light show starts at 7:30 PM.
There are Plenty of Snack bars inside the Garden.
The whole garden when illuminated is a treat to eyes.
A must visit place with family and friends !

Nice place. But it seems maintenance work is not happened since last 2 years. Work is in progress in some areas of the garden. Most of the water fountains are not working properly. Evening light show is also stopped for the maintenance work. No drinking water facility. Few restrooms. I hope these facilities will be included soon. However the garden is huge and beautiful.

This place is too good and mentioned in an excellent condition too. It's a kind of a dam on one side and other side is a lovely garden. Boaring is also available in this park. Night view is too good. I recommend you to visit this park in the Evening so that you can enjoy the night lights too. The park consist of two garden on the both sides of a stream of water where you can enjoy the boating.
In last this is a lovely place to visit with your loved ones and friends.

The gardens and fountains are well maintained. Of course one can still find many things broken or not working. Nevertheless it's worthy of a visit. They have a musical fountain on the north side of the garden. There are places to sit and enjoy. The musical fountains are in action between 6:30 to 8:00 for 10 minutes every half an hour. Children would definitely enjoy this place.
But very touristy especially during weekends and holidays.

We loved garden, boating and musical water fountain show.Rs. 100 Car Entry charges near the tollgate that includes parking as well. Separate entry for adults (Rs.50) and children(Rs.10). You will get local food vendors inside the garden area. It is well planned. You may get crowded and traffic depending if you are visiting public holidays/weekends or long weekends however you will enjoy your trip.

It is a beautiful garden but the best time to visit the gardens is at 4 or 5 pm. After visiting garden you can go straight to the fountain to watch the musical fountain. The musical fountain is spectacular and unforgettable.

Came here before sunset. There is no sound show as it's under repair. The light show starts after 630. Cool relaxing spot for a picnic. The gardens are maintained well. There are few water fountains too. You can see the big dam of Mysore.

It would be great if the equipment for the water fountain is maintained properly. Not a good idea to visit in the first half of the day. Evening 5 to 8 is the best time to visit this place as one would witness the Cauvery river flowing across the garden area in the day light and the colorful fountain in the night.

This is one of the most visited tourist destination in Mysore. Definitely at top 3 tourist attractions in Mysore. This is a huge garden with many flowers and fountains. It has a very big lawn area all across the garden for the tourists to sit down and relax. This is mainly knows for it's colourful fountain show at 7:30pm on weekends. There are many stalls inside for food and beverages. Overall a good place to visit when you are in Mysore.

I visited Brindavana Gardens long back and the experience was ok but this time it took a 180 degree turn and can be easily considered excellent and exceeded my expectations. From the start, ample parking space, decent snacks and chat stalls, garden grounds and fountains were maintained extremely well. The light and sound fountain show was very good. The only issue is public urination due to non availability of ample clean toilets.
Jyoti Dash — Google review
This is famous by name but in current condition Nov 2023 there is nothing in good condition. Only part of the first row fountains are in working condition. Not maintained at all. Gardens are also not maintained. Not worthy. Took ticket for camera but unfortunately nothing was there to capture with camera. Mobile phone camera is enough. Some one can skip this place to save time and energy.

Beautiful Garden, filled with many small fountains and good lighting and a lot of trees with small plants. The musical fountain or water shows is the prime attraction. The Dam was lighted with Indian flag colours. The musical water shows start at 6.30pm and following every 30 min interval. In weekend so much crowded. Beware from pickpocket specially in musical show time and when cross the walkway bridge.
Zakir Hossain — Google review
A real mixed bag. The gardens are really big and unusual, Italianate in part. Large lake below the dam, fountains are great. However some areas are quite neglected and need to be better cared for. Toilets especially and sections of the water features. Could be 5*. Be aware, they require both passport and visa ID on entry.

It was an enriching experience visiting this place on our visit to Mysore. This place is a must visit place for anyone who visits Mysore. You should definitely go in the evening to enjoy the weather and the atmosphere. Avoid going on weekends to enjoy this place without much crowd. Theres plenty of space for parking and a very big collection of shops outside the Garden. There is a boat ride available too in front of the dam and plenty of kids play area inside the garden. There is a bit of construction going inside the garden and I hope it gets completed soon.

The water dance light show is worth the visit. Lot of street food inside and outside of brindavan gardens. Proper parking for vehicles is available. boating is available. Night time the damn has a beautiful light view.
The street food guys should maintain cleanliness. Restrooms available.

It's a huge garden with a fantastic view of the storage water lake. It's a must visit place if you are in Mysuru. Its on the border of Mysuru. You can enjoy a boat ride at a nominal cost to the other side of the storage lake or walk the short distance as per personal choice. Visually enchanting fountain light show you can enjoy each of the evenings. The dam wall too is well lit with focus type colourful lights.
The kids will surely enjoy the fountain light show.

On my third visit to Brindavan Garden, I discovered something truly captivating: the **late evening fountain show**. It's an absolute must-watch! The show typically starts **after 7 PM**, and the magical display of water and lights is mesmerizing. The garden's architecture is impressive, and the musical fountain adds an enchanting touch. Despite some maintenance issues, this garden remains a **must-visit** attraction near Mysore..

Beautiful cathedral that is popular for its airy sanctuary, stained glass and twin spires Previously called the St.
Very very beautiful, clean, holy, well maintained. Parking inside safe and comfortable free. No pictures allowed inside. The adoration chapel provides one the environment to delve into deep prayer. A must-see if you ever go to Mysore!

It's a beautiful place with best architecture... In the palace you can see lots of uniqueness.. I visited there with my friends and it was a good and memorable plan... They don't have any entry charges... We've spent almost a hour there and it's worth spending... You can peacefully sit there and get some relaxation to your mental health in this place... The place was filled with silence.. Please plan to visit this place in the evening during your Mysore trip...

St. Philomena's Cathedral at Mysore is a great place to visit. Main thing, they have kept the entry free of cost. The architecture of the church is very grand and looks like any European church. They have provided parking space for cars behind the church. It's a very quite and peaceful place. We can sit on the benches and e joy peace of mind. There is a basement with few places of worship and one can exit through the narrow lane to the rear gate of church. There was no restriction on photography. They have kept the place clean. It's a unique architecture where there are 3 halls, one in front and other two on the either sides of the Pulpit (where Father stands for preaching). People can pray from all three sides (cross ➕ like structure). The colorful light rays enter the church from the stained glass windows of the church. It's a Beautiful church. The church is very crowded on the weekends.

Mysore's St. Philomena's Cathedral is a breath-taking work of art. Its breathtaking neo-gothic architecture is evocative of European churches. The cathedral's enormous size and its elaborate stained glass windows produce a calm and majestic ambiance. Equally striking are the interior features, which include soaring columns and a serene atmosphere. This holy treasure displays the city's deep heritage and dedication. St. Philomena's Cathedral is a must-see for anybody interested in history or religion. It provides an amazing look into the city's spiritual and architectural past. Because of the design of the church, this location is ideal for photographing pictures in the old style. The town is overly crowded, and parking might be challenging. No charge to enter.

One of the best and must visit churches. If you are in Mysore please don’t miss out this beautiful place. It’s peaceful and built so well. You can feel the calmness here. We went on a moon and the place was empty and we had the entire time to pray and feel the positivity around. The church is huge and treat to eyes. There’s enough parking for cars and bikes around the church.

Again, no place of worship can be determined by the stars it receives because a religious place is about how one feels - spiritual or peaceful in such a place. St. Philomena's cathedral is one such place which I visit whenever I'm in Mysore. This church brings a sense of calm and peace.
The church has a sufficient amount of parking available inside the premises. Mass is carried out in three languages - Kannada, Tamil and English - timings of mass and weekly prayers have been shared in pics.

With the fame of being one of the largest churches in India, this majestic church captivates everyone with its architectural excellence. So as i do too It also boasts of being the second largest church in Asia. Dedicated to Saint Philomena, St. Philomena’s Church is not only known for its architectural beauty and religious significance; it stands as an exemplary of secular viewpoint and the religious harmony which existed in Mysore. This can be seen from the fact that this church was built by Mysore ruler for the European residents in the city..

The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens is an animal zoo located adjacent to the Karanji lake and has been in operation since 1892. The zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, including exotic species, and is highly popular with tourists. The gardens are well-maintained and feature large gardens with a lake.
I had visited in end Apr 2022 on a Sunday. Very good and well maintained zoo. ₹100 entry fees for adults, if children are below 5 years age no need for entry ticket. ₹100 if you have separate camera irrespective of type. Walking distance is around 3 km it will take around 3 hours if you want to see all birds, animals. Battery car is also available for which you need to take ticket after getting entry ticket. On entering zoo, you need to pay refundable deposit of ₹10 for every plastic bottles you have and they will label it. On exiting the zoo, show these bottles and get refund. Most of the people get exhausted at exit, so probably we won't go back to the place for refund. Good thing is that the exit gate is leading directly to car parking. So you can easily go to your van or car at the parking lot. Most of hotels around the zoo are vegetarian. this is the only drawback. Since it was a holiday time for kids, the zoo was very much crowded. Due to this during lunch time you hardly get seats at the nearby restaurants and will not have much varieties to order. Hotels nearby serve mostly rice plates during this peak hours.

It's always good to visit this zoo with good varieties of animals and birds. New animals are also filling the place as the old ones are expiring.
Maintenance has increased tremendously with good focus on customer experience and safety.
Glass barricades are a good addition but it has to be cleaned occasionally.
Feels that animals are well maintained with good flow of adoptions in the recent days.
No special value for animal adopters (which is seen in other zoos). Even a small gesture like a returnable ID card would also attract more people. Even adoption boards for less than 20k amount are not put.
Parking space, entrance and other amenities are increasing day by day, which attracts more and more tourists.
Overall, a fine place for 2 to 3 hours of time.

The Mysuru Zoo is one of the cleanest ones you'll see in the country. The animals are always seen in a hygienic environ. And you have a large variety of them including Gorillas and Giraffes which are hard to find in most zoos. Children will have a memorable time although the zoo lacks a safari ride. They have golf Cart rides but these have long wait times so that part needs to be maintained better. Walking through it'll take at least 2 hours so please plan that much time.

It is hard to rate a zoo because it is essentially animals trapped in a cage for the entirety of their existence but if you put those sentiments aside, the zoo offers interesting facts of all the animals on the boards in front of the cages, regarding what they eat, how endangered they are and where they are from.
Most of the cages were well maintained however the lions looked very malnourished, or could possibly be old age. It was sad to see. The water in the ponds were not refilled so the tiger had nothing to lie in to cool down.. the zoo can be doing a lot better to take care of these animals considering the amount of people visiting each and every day.
Nevertheless, the gorillas and chimpanzees were a sight to see as they made moves for us all and tried to make us laugh..the gorilla is extremely endangered so it makes sense they are preserved in a zoo..
When you visit, make sure to not feed the animals or tease or scare them. They have feelings too. You also have options to donate to the cause by adopting the animals..

Overall, Mysore Zoo offers an enjoyable and educational experience, perfect for a day out with the family.

The best zoo in India and one of the best in the world as of today. The zoo is very big spanning across 157 acre and a walking of distance of around 3.5km. If you cannot walk there are golf carts available for some extra fair. The number of animals and species is just astounding. There are more than 562 mammals, 748 birds and 103 reptiles. The variety is quite big and animals and tress from all around the world can be found here. There is a lake, called Karanji which i wasn't able to visit as it required a ticket of its own but it wasn't mentioned anywhere near the ticket counter. There are souvenir shops, a restaurant and a Mysore sandal shop inside the zoo too. Don't miss the bird enclosure as it has many birds moving freely and is really beautiful.
An advice from my side: there are many places with free drinking water where you can fill up your bottle, but if you don't have a bottle and buy one from the restaurant, make sure to keep the bottle with you till the end and there will be a counter where you can give the bottle back to get Rs10 back per bottle.
(going to upload only some photos as i didn't take that many photos)

A really nice place to visit for animal and nature lovers. There are a huge variety of different animals that you can see.
The whole path is around 3km which might be difficult for some.
There is strict checking for plastic items like bottles, chips, etc. You'll also not find any snacks or beverages along the way except at one point. If you are bringing snacks, make sure to bring them in paper/non plastic bags.
Also be sure to carry water, hats and cooling glasses since it is extremely hot and sunny.
Plan to go early in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat.

Mysore zoo is very good place to visit with family.the place is crowded during weekens and public holidays. if you are with children then you can book electric vehicles. It will be better. Zoo is clean and wall maintend. Ro water also available inside the zoo. Nice experience to see giraffe closely.

It's a nice place but in the summer season every animal is struggling. We can see that. If they provide extra water to every animal they may feel chill.
Maintaining good and clean. The restroom and child care room are also there in lots of places. Drinking water is good.
The entire zoo will take 4 hours to cover.
Inside some little shops there to buy, eat but the thing is expensive.

The Mysore Palace, an Indo-Saracenic palace completed in 1912, is one of India's most splendid royal buildings and the second-most-visited sight in the country. It served as the seat of the Wodeyar maharajas and was rebuilt after a fire devastated the original structure in 1897. The extravagant interior features a vibrant array of stained glass, mirrors, and bright colors.
One of the mouth struck experience. Mysore palace is must visit place, still the heritage of the city is well maintained.
If you plan by evening around 4pm. You can both visit palace & light show starts at 7pm.
Or else two times you need to buy entry tickets. Really one of the marvellous architecture building and lot of moments to pursue.
Take a guide and see through so you can enjoy every details inside the palace.
Entry tickets for Light show 120₹ and other time it is 100₹. Students concession is there.
Parking available. Horse chariot rides available outside the palace.
Prices are depends upon the day and public holidays. All 4 gates ride is 1000₹ and small round is 500₹.
If you go in groups they charge per head 100₹. No fixed price, you can bargain to your best and enjoy the horse chariot ride.

A very well kept palace worth taking the time to visit. Lots of local tourists, too.
The architecture is amazing. Lots of photo ops. The rose garden was in bloom and we could admire it from afar.
The upper sections will attract viewers who have to walk through barefooted.
Security checks at entrance and bags have to be screened. The personnel handled the crowds well.
On Sundays and public holidays the palace is lit up spectacularly from 7pm to 8pm making for good photo-op.

Mysore Palace is a majestic architectural marvel that showcases the grandeur of Indian royalty. The intricate detailing, stunning domes, and beautiful courtyards leave visitors in awe. The palace is steeped in history and cultural significance. The highlight is the breathtaking night lighting, where thousands of lights illuminate the palace, transforming it into a magical sight. The play of colors and the reflection on the surrounding water creates a mesmerizing ambiance. The lighting ceremony is a must-see, as it brings the palace to life in a captivating way. Inside, the palace is equally captivating, with opulent halls, intricate artworks, and a glimpse into the royal lifestyle. A visit to Mysore Palace is a journey into the past, and the enchanting night lighting adds an extra layer of charm to this iconic landmark.

This is the main attraction and beauty of Mysuru. People including foreigners visit this place. Must visit place. If you are staying in Sunday night, must not miss the illumination view from 7-8pm. I was lucky to see the beauty of this palace in sunlight, evening light and special Sunday evening light. It was one of my life time experience.

Exploring the impressive palace was a captivating experience, featuring a vast array of rooms showcasing fascinating artifacts. The palace's charm is further enhanced by a beautifully landscaped garden, where occasional glimpses of elephants and camels contribute to the overall allure.
While the visit provides a fascinating insight into royal life, it's important to note that limited wheelchair access may restrict exploration of certain areas. Despite this limitation, the palace remains a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, offering a rich and immersive journey into the regal past.

Amazing place to visit, we had the luxury to visit at the time when there was minimum crowd so clicking pics was fun and easy. Palace itself is mesmerizing with such a view and space, there are plenty of space around palace too for taking leisure walks.
Inside of palace is also very nice, the condition it is in well preserved and all items are stored very safely.
Only if they could've added a small brief on the items we are seeing would've been cherry on the cake.

The Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, an incarnation of the goddess Durga. The temple is located atop a hill in the city of Mysore and offers panoramic vistas of the city. Many rulers have contributed immensely to the temples development and given valuable ornaments to Goddess Chamundeshwari.

Review Date (28-6-23): Chamundeshwari is called by the people of Karnataka as Nada Devi (ನಾಡ ದೇವಿ), which means state Goddess. It is situated at the elevation of around 3300 ft from the mean sea level.
--> It is believed that Goddess Durga slayed the demon king Mahishasura on the top of this hill which was ruled by him. The place was later known as Mahishooru (Place of Mahisha). The British changed it to Mysore and later Kannadized into Mysuru.
--> The Chamundeshwari Temple is considered as a Shakti Peetha and one among the 18 Shakti Peethas.
--> The worst thing here is management of queue line for Dharshan. The Rs.100/- or Rs.30/- or d free Darshan has almost no difference bcz it took 2½ to 3 hrs for Rs.100/- nd all queue lines got mixed at almost same time.
Toilets r there but some less maintenance.
--> Flowers, coconut stalls people say to keep footwear for free but we should compulsory buy at them. But infact there is a plenty of Footwear storage for Rs.10/- for 2 pairs. So no one need to leave their footwear at stalls..
Monkeys are quite more so don't keep banana type eatables directly in hand.

This place is best to visit on winter mornings...
I visited in the first week of January.
You'll see their cloud bed, huge range of mountains, lush green everywhere... sunlight in winter makes this place more beautiful...
This road is too beautiful.. if possible try to rent a bike or something to roam all over in Ooty..

Try to avoid this peak during weekends or holidays. Too hot and too many people. Though it looks mesmerising during winter covered in clouds , compared to it in summer it doesn't look that good but still is beautiful.
Peak is completely net barricaded. The way to the peak is beautiful, surrounded by trees.

Wow, awesome experience at a high altitude, too cold. I enjoyed the view it was really great. Be careful while driving as it is a single road with two-way options.

It was quite crowded, had to wait in line for many kilo meters before you reach the spot. Its not because of too much crowd at the place, but its mainly due to poor parking arrangements to handle a moderate crowd. If you are going on a busy day better avoid to save time. It is just a view point. The telescope house have nothing operating there.

The road trip to the peak is such a nice experience. Somewhat crowded, but it's a nice place to visit with families and friends. The view from the peak is splendid.
You can reach there by means of a jeep which will be available at the bus stop area. It's quite economical.

Caution -
NO plastic is allowed here. It's better to avoid carrying plastic items.
Shops -
On reaching the peak, there are 2 shops which sell hot tea, lemon tea and coffee and various kinds of fried snacks-chilly bajji, noodles, dal vada etc.
We, two people, drank 1 cup of lemon tea (20/- per cup) each. It was delicious. It was around 8AM (01 Aug 23), temp was around 14°C, with cool breeze flowing, the hot lemon tea with basil leaves was so refreshing and warming.
While returning from the top, we enjoyed peanuts masala (cost - 30/-) at a shop downstairs which was also tasty.
First floor -
There is a telescopic aerial view available on 1st floor on climbing stairs. Since it was foggy, we didn't go there as nothing would have been visible.
From the Top -
Its a scenic view which people go to click some photographs. Other than that, the mountain top gives you beautiful landscape views of the surrounding hills, including Chamundi Hills, grassy plains of Mysore and Coimbatore including Karnataka border. One can even see the forests of Bandipur National Park from the top.

The parking area is small and gets filled soon on public holidays. So either reach early in the morning hours or on week days. It is usually crowded in weekends. Otherwise you mayn't get parking space.
Way Up -
On the way up from the junction to the peak, the view is beautiful with tall trees on either sides of the road. The city view is also available where we halted and took some photographs. The weather was so chill and foggy, we went inside the jungle on either side of the road, not too far, clicked pics.

Doddabetta Peak is the highest point in the Nilgiris. One of the most visited tourist destination in Ooty. I have been here twice and the view from up there is stunning! If there are no clouds covering you can see the view of Nilgiris and Ooty from there. The telescope was closed when we went due to bad weather. Definitely worth visiting.

Great view. But i would suggest that you should not try the telescope because it only shows the view of a road.

Good place to visit in Ooty. I went in a season which was so cloudy and was unable to see the view from telescope or the naked eye. But the view with the cloud cover was legendary. Visiting hours is from 8am to 5pm and you will pass through lots of street shops and food which is so amazing here. One of the recommended place for a splendid view from a hill top.

The coolest point of Ooty. It is the highest peak of South India. There is a tower at the top from where you can see Ooty and Coonoor on either side. It is a very picturesque spot. The cleanliness is well-maintained. There are food stalls over there where fresh food items and beverages can be purchased. There is ample parking available. There are stalls on the exit route. There is a marginal entry fee. The view from up there is amazing and perfect for taking pictures. The way to the top can be traversed in a car and is a wonderful route too.

This is the second highest peak in south India.
We do not have restroom at the parking area, instead we need to climb to the peak for the restroom.
At the peak , we have observatory and few shops for the refreshment.
On the way to the peak, we have many shops for shopping as well as for chit chat items.
The view was splendid, the climate might change depending on the way , so just google it before going.

This was our first point to visit in ooty and we were highly disappointed. We can see the nearby views by climbing on the telescope room but there was no telescope there. Other than that there was nothing else to see there. The washroom is available on the top and edibles are easily available from parking till the top of the hill. If you are planning to visit ooty, this place can be skipped.

The garden is so neat n beautiful.
The place is huge with few green houses, carved trees, bushes and shrubs. It has a variety of rare plants and flowers all well preserved.

Lovely garden, well maintained and has huge varieties of rare trees, shrubs and unique flowering plants. Though it's heavily crowded on weekends and public holidays, owing to its huge area cover, you won't be running into others that much. Though sanitary workers take so much of effort to maintain park neat and tidy, it's really disturbing to see few visitors throwing away waste and leftover foods just like that. Humble request to all people who read this review to encourage themselves and people around you to keep all public places anywhere for that matter, neat and clean. Please find a bin and throw waste.

Govt Botanical Garden is such a beautiful garden that fills your heart with joy. I went there last in 2008, and had the pleasure of visiting it in 2023. The glasshouse had the choicest collection of flowering plants, and succulents. The fern house looked beautiful but was closed. The huge trees that surround the paths of the garden are a sight to behold. There is a lovely store where you can buy a whole range of plants at super affordable rates. The price range starts at 10Rs.

It's worth the visiting. Easily it takes off 1-2hrs of our time. Try going in evening time or in morning time to take good photos. We can assume it more as a normal park then the botanical garden. Theme n designs are good. If you are short of time as tourist better to skip as to watch in hurry.

Established in 1848, it occupies an area of more than fifty acres, and is home to a wide variety of flora, many indigenous to the area. Reports suggest that it took about ten years to complete the garden, as a portion of jungle and swamp had to be converted into a garden.
There are lots of visitors and some of the flowerbeds and flowers, specifically inside the glass house have been very tastefully displayed.
Well worth a second visit...

The Botanical Garden in Ooty offers a vast expanse, but our visit in March, supposedly peak season, left much to be desired. Disappointingly, the garden lacked the vibrant blooms expected during this time, with only a small gallery showcasing flowers or flower shows. Maintenance seemed lacking, with dried-up foliage prevailing throughout. However, the garden does provide a serene environment for relaxation and enjoying nature's tranquility. While it falls short of expectations for a botanical garden experience, it serves adequately as a spot for casual gatherings and snacks. Perhaps timing plays a crucial role, but based on our visit, it didn't quite live up to its botanical reputation.

The Government Rose Garden located in Vijayanagaram of Ooty town in Tamil Nadu, India is one of the largest rose gardens in India and a popular tourist attraction. The garden has more than 10,000 roses of different varieties and is home to thousands of species of roses.
I liked this garden better than the botanical garden, there is lots more to see and huge collection of colourful flowers. Parking is available, you need to pay parking as you enter with your vehicle. You can see this place in about an hour. Toilets are not too clean and a bit scary. Entry fee is nominal at ₹ 40 per person. Good place for those who like flowers and like to walk. Weather in February was very pleasant and not too cold. Well maintained place.

The Government Rose Garden is a beautiful garden situated near Ooty Lake, showcasing a wide variety of rose plants. A brief 30-minute visit offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and an array of colorful flowers.
Unfortunately, during our visit in March, the trees had just been trimmed, so only a few varieties of roses were in bloom. It's best to avoid visiting during the summer months.
The entry fee is affordable, and the crowds are usually manageable. However, parking can be a bit challenging on public holidays and weekends.

It's a wonderful place with a lot of varieties of roses. This season is one of the best times to visit and most of the flowers have bloomed. The area of this place is smaller compared to the Botanical Garden which is nearby. Still it takes over an hour if you wish to see everything available here. The area follows a layered structure. You need to go down two to three levels using the stairs and paths provided. Also, keep an eye out for flower shows which take place a few times over the year. If you love to explore rose varieties then definitely a must visit.

Although the garden has ROSE in it's name but you wont find any good rose plant maintained properly. They claim that there are arround 700 different species of rose but you will barely find around 70 of them blooming. Others plants are either dead or dropped.
But other than this there are many more things to enjoy here... Many other plant species many old trees which are older than 100 years.. from here the view of ooty city looks mesmerizing.. i would recommend to go here in the evening.. keep in mind that the gates will be closed after 6 30 PM.

If you love to explore rose varieties then definitely a must visit

Visiting the rose garden was an enchanting experience that delighted all my senses. As I stepped through the entrance, I was immediately greeted by an overwhelming wave of fragrant blooms that seemed to embrace the air around me. The vibrant colors of the roses painted a picturesque scene that felt like stepping into a fairy tale.
Wandering through the pathways, I was astounded by the variety of roses on display. From delicate tea roses to bold and vibrant hybrid varieties, each bloom was a masterpiece in its own right. The meticulous care taken to arrange them by color and size was evident, creating a harmonious symphony of hues that danced before my eyes.
The garden's layout was thoughtfully designed, offering different sections that highlighted specific types of roses. A dedicated area for climbers showcased their graceful ascent, while the formal rose beds displayed a tapestry of different colors and shapes. One particularly charming corner featured antique roses, each with a unique story to tell.
Amidst the visual feast, the gentle hum of bees and the occasional flutter of butterflies added to the garden's allure. I found myself lost in the tranquility of the surroundings, a temporary escape from the bustling world beyond the garden's borders.
The visit was not only a treat for the eyes and nose but also an opportunity to learn. Informational plaques provided insights into the history of various rose breeds, cultivation techniques, and even tips for nurturing roses at home. It was a wonderful blend of beauty and education.
As I reluctantly left the garden, I couldn't help but feel a sense of rejuvenation. The experience left me inspired to bring a touch of this enchantment into my own life. The rose garden was more than just a collection of flowers; it was a sanctuary of beauty, a space to connect with nature, and a reminder of the simple joys that the world has to offer.

Ooty Lake is a picturesque gem nestled amidst the verdant hills of Tamil Nadu, India. Its serene waters, encompassed by lush greenery, offer a tranquil retreat for visitors seeking respite from urban bustle. Boating enthusiasts revel in leisurely rides on pedal boats or rowboats, soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Surrounding the lake, vibrant flower gardens and towering eucalyptus trees add to its charm. However, the lake's popularity can lead to crowds, particularly during peak tourist seasons, detracting slightly from the serenity. Overall, Ooty Lake captivates with its natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking tranquility amidst nature's bounty.

The Iruppu Waterfalls in the Brahmagiri Mountains is a picturesque destination with a natural pool and hiking trail. The waterfall provides an awe-inspiring view that requires trekking for about a kilometer to reach. Visitors can grab refreshments from nearby stores or explore the Rameshwara temple at the entrance before paying an entry fee of Rs 50 per person.
Beautiful waterfall in the forest. Relaxing and enjoyable. There is an entrance fee and ample parking there; some shops are there for snacks and tea in the entrance. Carry water and other eatables inside the forest. There are no shops inside the forest and waterfall area. A small walk from the entrance and you will see the falls. It is a beautiful place to be one with nature.

You have to buy the tickets first. It will cost you 60rs per person. Wall towards the fall is 1 km around. The path is no doubt beautiful and surrounded by lush greenery. I visited the fall in April month so i think this is not the right time. The water was narrow and wasn't that attracting at all. You can easily take a bath once you reach the fall and there are changing rooms for men women both so no worries where will you change the clothes. Please wear shoes as it's more comfortable while walking and climbing stairs. It's a very beautiful place for a day outing. Kids can also enjoy. Thera are food stalls outside.

When we visited this place it was raining and in the rain we had a walk of 20 mins to reach the waterfalls. After reaching the waterfalls the water was so cool and we enjoyed a lot in the waterfalls. A small pond formed at the waterfalls so we were spending a lot of time at the waterfalls. It takes just 20 mins to walk to reach the waterfalls from the entry gate. The nater view looks so wonderful while walking to waterfalls. We almost spent more than 1hr of our time at the waterfalls.

We also spotted Blue Butterflies that are more common in this place and also a Malabar squirrel.

Mesmerizing waterfall in amid of nature. You have to buy entry ticket of 60 Rs as a forest entry fee but it's worth it since the path to falls are maintained beautifully there is a trek of around 1.5 Kms in which you will encounter a bridge and at the end there are around 60-70 stairs, Good thing is you can bath in waterfall enjoy the chilling waters and take beautiful pics for your memory. If you love water do remember to take your spare clothes waterfall has a lot of spots where you can a dip or just stand in falling water.

The falls are located in serene surroundings. One needs to walk about 750 meters from the parking lot to reach the falls. The walk includes climbing a few steps intermittently. The falls did not have much water as the season of visit was spring/ early summer, but it was evident that in monsoon season, the water will be abundant. There were not many tourists, it being a time of year-end school exams for children across the country. Overall, a nice, peaceful and enjoyable experience.

This charming waterfall is nestled in the picturesque village 🏘️ of Kutta, located at the Karnataka-Kerala border. Please note that the waterfall closes promptly at 5 PM, and there are vigilant security officials at the entrance who won't permit entry 🚫 beyond that time. There's an admission fee 💰 of approximately Rs. 100-200 per person.
Upon reaching the top, you won't be at the summit of the mountain 🌄 where the waterfall 🌊 originates, but you'll have a close-up view of the waterfall itself. The waterfall is roughly 500-600 meters from the main entrance, requiring a walk to the stairs and a climb 🪜 of around 200-500 steps to reach the top. Families👪 can often be seen enjoying the cascading waters, and it's recommended to ascend to the top for the best views, although some visitors find spots to sit along the way.
At the waterfall's base, before the entrance, you'll find 4-5 small shops 🛍️ where you can grab a snack 🥝 before or after your visit. Additionally, there is a changing room next to the shops, with a nominal fee of around Rs. 10 💵 for changing or Rs. 5 for restroom use. There are changing rooms inside the main gate of the waterfall as well but you may not find them in best condition.
Regarding cleanliness 🧹, the area is relatively clean, although locating a dustbin 🚮 for disposing of waste can be a challenge. Changing rooms are available but may raise concerns about hygiene 🧼, as they are exclusively for women 💃. Safety is a priority, with security 👮 personnel stationed at various points along the path.
At the top, you'll find seating 🪑, benches, and great photo opportunities. The climb is not particularly strenuous, making it suitable for beginners and children. Please note that access to the waterfall's summit may be restricted, but all other seating areas are shallow and safe. This spot is a worthwhile addition to your list of places to visit near Coorg.

The Iruppu Falls located in the Brahmagiri Range in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India, bordering the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is a fresh water cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole. The falls also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls, the Lakshmana Tirtha River.
f you are a nature lover looking to get away from the city rush, a trip to this waterfall is completely worth it. The lush green surroundings add to the beauty of Iruppu Falls and make it a must-visit. There are metal platforms built right under the falls, so people can walk on it and take a bath right where the falls land. Would recommend Soap/Foam kind of bath though. Just a cool dip would be nice.
A forest trail leads from these falls to the Brahmagiri Peak in Southern Kodagu. Irupu falls is a major tourist attraction as well as a pilgrimage spot. A famous Shiva temple, the Rameshwara Temple is situated on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River, en route to the Falls.
According to popular legend, Rama and Lakshmana, passed along the Bhramagiri range whilst searching for Rama's beloved, Sita. When Rama asked Lakshmana to fetch him drinking water, Lakshmana shot an arrow into the Brahmagiri hills and brought into being the river Lakshmana Tirtha. Due to this legend, the falls is believed to possess the power to cleanse sins and is visited by thousands of devotees on Shivaratri day.
The best time to visit the falls is during the monsoons, when the falls is at full capacity and is a breathtaking sight. Irupu is situated at 48 km from Virajpet, 260 km from Bangalore, 240 km from Mangalore and 120 km from Mysore. The falls can be visited by the highway from Gonikopal to Nagerhole National Park off the Kutta Road after Srimangala.

There is a change room for girls as well near the waterfalls.
But personally I felt it was a little too crowded as I visited during vacation time also it was an evening. So I didn't feel comfortable going into the river.

This place is about 90 minutes away from Ooty, so you can actually try to cover the place while arriving in Ooty itself.
There's a short trek of 15-20 minutes from the entrance to the actual viewpoint. Keep in mind that you would have to walk slightly uphill in certain areas while reaching the viewpoint.
The entrance is usually manned by a guy/guard, where you have to produce the entry ticket. The ticket counter is right opposite the entrance, and acts as the payment option for the small food stall that's there.
There's a gazebo in the final viewpoint where you can sit and rest. Alternatively, you can stand on the outside and enjoy the views. There's some mountain goats that have been strategically placed to give the illusion of the goats being on the cliff.
There's also a great but smaller viewpoint en route the trek from entrance. It would fall on you right, with a big tree acting as the resting place!

If one is a nature lover and interested in a small trek in climbing a small trail to see a scenic view of Pine trees touching the clouds.
Then this place is a must visit, just a few kilometres away from The Pykara Lake.

Wonderful view from the top in every direction. Even spotted a black bear minding its own business (pls don't bother these animals). Decided to visit this place at the last moment as it was right beside the road. It was worth it. There's enough space beside the road to park ur vehicles. Pay the entrance fee of 30₹/head n walk for about 10-15 minutes to reach the spot.

Amazing place its nature inside the nature..
We entered this place after finishing Nilgiri forest entry on the way to Ooty..
Place is well inside the nature covered with beautiful scenery of hills all around.. what a beautiful landscape, all 360 degree view you will get here..
After entering you need walk down hill and up hill, its almost long walking steps to reach the peak point.. so on the way to peak point, you will get different spots and they are amazing, a single tree and whole landscape background and rocks to get standing photos ,its amazing…
Once you reach the peak, its a needle point as you can view app 360 degrees nature surrounding you, great place and amazing view..its man made small view point building, you will get cool breeze from all round..
This place needs around 20 to 30 mints of mild up hill walking, if you do not have any issue with walking and knee issues, any age person can visot this place..
You will not get water dispensaries or washrooms pr wheelchair facilities here.
I suggest to keep reusable water filled bottle with you as 1 & 2 liters plastic water bottles are banned here, other plastic are allowed 😂🤣
You will not get any shops near by so no food ot snacks will be available here.
Entry fee 30 INR per person and no parking fees..
All together its well inside the hills and nature, amazing view point…

Crazy!!!
Stunning place for Nature lovers.
You can see the endless reserve forest, mountains at far, and the view of the frog hill.
The distance looks too short but in actual it's a small hike. At the end, you have wind blowing from both valleys making it a bit scary to take the last few steps.
Recommend sunset view during the winters where you can see clouds.

It's just OK. Walking around 700mts to see this point is not that worthy when you compare with other locations like dodabetta peak and all. However, if you have more time and energy you can definitely visit. You may have to treck for 300mts and 400mts a normal walk to reach there.

Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated in the Brahmagiri hills, accessible only to Hindus. The temple is renowned for its intricate architecture consisting of 30 granite columns and surrounded by a holy stream known as Papanasini River that adds to the beauty of the place. Entry fee for adults including Indians and foreigners is approximately 20 INR.
One of the most beautiful temples in Kerala. The route to this place is extremely blessed with natural beauty. If you are lucky, you may spot some wild animals as well.
However, it is not safe to ride through those roads late at night or during early morning. We saw an elephant so close to the road at around 9 pm
NB: Please confirm that the temple is open due to covid related restrictions.

One of the beautiful temple sacred and lots of mystery and divine. Main God Vishnu along with Brahma and Shiva resides inside temple.
Situated at the foot of Brahmagiri Hills. Beautiful scenery and calm place.
It is too far from kalpetta wayanad region, around 1.5 hr journey situated in deep forest routes. Route to this temple is magnificent beautiful forest roads and wild animals will be crossed on road at early morning.
There is Papanasini stream Emanating from the heart of Brahmagiri forest flowing through roots, leaves and flowers of ancient trees and medicinal herbs, Papanasini is a holy mountain stream accessible around 1 km northwest of the temple premises. Pilgrims bathe here as they consider its waters to be sacred with powers to absolve one's sins. Further, the temple offers services to immerse cremation ashes in the sacred mountain stream to be thus carried to Kaveri River and from there to the ocean. This is a part of the last rites.

It's a small and pretty old temple and some of the columns date back to 1000 years. When we went they were renovating it with mostly old type wood works. You will have to climb a few steps to reach the temple and walk towards the right. Shirts and shorts are not allowed inside the temple.
A couple of shops are around the temple selling toys, eatables and crockery. There are a few restaurants too.

I went to Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Kshetram for the second time, now the temple is under renovation works. The temple looked really old and special before, with a strong spiritual vibe. It's next to the big Brahmagiri hills and you get to see a beautiful view.
The temple is well known for the last rites and there's a river for that passing by. The way to the temple is amazing, especially in the early morning when you can see lots of animals. It's a great place for both spirituality and enjoying nature

Adding this review because i had a foreigner ask me what is going on here.
So to start with, this place is also known as the 'kaasi of the south' . Lord Vishnu s temple is currently under renovation. The temple is attached to a river ( papanashini) where the final rituals of passed away loved ones are done. These rituals can then be done on an annual basis.
If u are new around here. You could still do these rituals for your demised loved ones ( they are basically prayers to ask God to help them rest in peace ). It doesn't cost much ( 70Rs) either .

Thirunelli Temple holds a special place in my heart as a nostalgic destination. I've visited this temple numerous times with my family to perform rituals for our ancestors. We would arrange two or three jeeps and set out early in the morning from Nadapuram in Kozhikode district. We'd traverse the Kuttiady Churam (mountain pass) to reach Wayanad and then proceed to Thirunelli Temple.
The journey to the temple offers breathtaking views and passes through dense forests where we often encounter a variety of wildlife, including deer, wild buffalo, monkeys, peacocks, and occasionally even elephants.
Thirunelli Temple, dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu, is nestled amidst the serene Brahmagiri hills and lush green forests, providing a tranquil atmosphere for visitors. It's renowned for its unique rituals and ancient architecture, believed to be the only temple in the world where devotees can perform all life-related rituals, from birth to death and beyond.
According to legend, Lord Brahma installed an idol of Lord Vishnu here, promising that the water surrounding the temple would wash away all sins, giving rise to the Papanashini stream. The temple is also famous for rituals performed on the banks of the Papanashini stream, believed to possess medicinal powers.
The temple premises boast attractions such as the holy rock for praying to forefathers, the cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the sacred pond, Panchatheertham. Additionally, there are shops offering forest products like honey, as well as restaurants and affordable accommodations nearby.

Thirunelli Temple (also spelled Tirunelli) is an ancient temple dedicated to Maha Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill in Kerala, India, near the border
Kuruvadweep is a verdant and pristine island located on the banks of river Kabini. It offers seasonal access for leisurely walks, hikes, and bamboo rafting excursions. The island boasts of lush evergreen forests that are home to rare species of birds, orchids, and herbs. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of nature's beauty while walking through water flowing amidst rocks that lead to other islands separated by rivers.
I was thinking how good its going to be in the beginning after reading about the place in the internet. But after visiting there last week, I felt totally refreshed. It will definitely be worthy if you love nature. Kabini river flows though the island and it's in the jungle you will have to walk in to reach the river flow. The rocks there are slippery, so take care while climbing. There are many forest guards posted nearby for the rescue. Enjoyed the day a lot and the visit here means you will be spending your whole day here so plan wisely on your schedules if you are running out of time. On the way from the Island, there is a tribal museum which is also worth visiting. Must strongly recommend this both places. The staffs are very friendly and they do their works efficiently. Claps for their hardwork🙂👏👏👏

Lemme give a clear description.
Per day the tickets to island are given 575. There are two entry gates you can choose as per your stay and nearest one.
If you want to go to island(on the bamboo raft, they will leave to other side of water)
Reach by 7am to get the tickets and counter will open by 9 am.
1. If you have not been to any nature place like forest, greenary, hill station then it excites you definitely otherwise you don't find anything interesting.
2. The entry fee is 94 rps to island and bamboo rafting is 100 per head
3. After getting entry to island, there will forest and you need to walk for 1km to reach the end destination which is Kabini River.
4. Guards will be there to help you through out the way.
5. You can experience forest feel through the walk and water is not that clean but if you are interested, you can bath also.
6. Dormitory rooms, cloak room and toilets are available. The Snack shops are less but you can get home made chocolate, spices etc.
7. If there is no entry to island after the 575 tickets, go for Bamboo rafting which is worthy.
8. On weekends, the place is very crowded and you don't get tickets easily.
Overall : Good place if you have not seen any forest or greenary places. Can spend atleast half day.

Visiting this island was such an amazing experience, and the best part of our Wayanad trip. During peak times, the queue for the ferry to/ fro the island would be huge, hence take the back entrance, and start early in the morning, if you do not want to waste time in the queue.
The island has beautiful waterways, wooden bridges, mangroves, and good spots for bathing. Walking through the wilderness, itself, gives you a great experience. Not suitable to elderly people though.

It's almost 1000 acres of forest land surrounded by the Kabani River. No roads to this island, and it is maintained by the Kerala Forest Department.
As per their own billboards, they claim only 575 persons will be permitted to island daily. Entry is restricted with tickets and they provide bamboo rafter to cross the river.
Walking through the forest island will be a good experience, but during rainy season, they don't operate and no entry for public.
Vinod Lall Aryachalil — Google review
The island is only accessible by boat, which adds to the thrill of the journey. Once you reach the island, you'll be greeted by a lush green forest that's home to a variety of rare and exotic flora and fauna. The trees are so dense that the sunlight barely filters through, creating a cool and soothing atmosphere.
There are several walking trails on the island that take you deep into the forest. You'll come across small streams, waterfalls, and ponds that are perfect for a refreshing dip. The highlight of the island, however, is the bamboo rafting experience. You get to glide along the river on a bamboo raft, taking in the beautiful scenery and spotting some rare birds and animals.
The island is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. They provide you with all the necessary information and equipment to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside is that the island can get a bit crowded during peak tourist season, so it's best to visit early in the morning or during weekdays.

Average place. Not up to the hype. Entry fee is 110rs for a person. Plastic deposit is 20rs they will give after you return the plastics. I have to wait for a bamboo boat. Then once you get into the island then you have to walk like 1-1.5km on one side to reach the stream.

Kuruvadweep is a popular tourist spot in Wayanad district. The boat ride and island visit are amazing experiences. However, the staff's behavior towards visitors is rude. New updates:
River drafting is not good, I suggest try banasura Sagar dam, it has speed boat, and different types of boating activities, too famous.
So basically they take you from one side of river to other(small river) and then u need to walk for 2km inside jungle, till you reach at other end of jungle where again river u can see and play in water sometime. Going through jungle is good journey, if ur true nature lover, big trees and locations for photoshoot.

Edakkal Caves, located on Ambukuthi Hills in the Wayanad district of Kerala, are an ancient archaeological site featuring Stone Age petroglyphs and breathtaking views. The caves were formed by a large split in a massive rock and boast the world's richest pictographic gallery of this kind. Visitors must trek 900 meters from the parking area and climb steep steps to reach the entrance. However, it is not recommended for elderly people due to its strenuous nature.
The best example of ancient life on earth. The cave is full of ancient inscriptions and it’s beautiful to look. Gives us the glimpse of past. The best part is the hike that we have to do to reach the place. It’s almost 1.5 km of steep slope and stairways. Will not recommend to people with heart disease as it will be extremely exhausting to get to the site. It’s the most amazing experience that we can have in our life. The top view from the cave entrance is amazing and beautiful. If you ever visit wayanad, you must see this place.

Had lots of time in SultanBattery and decided on the visit. Plan for 9 AM to 3 PM to really enjoy the trek and place.
1st check point is the parking ticket entry barrier, 40 per car, they give you parking lot number, you need to park there. Was low crowd, so no hassles.
The 1.5 km trek from park to cave is moderate and will need OK fitness. On the way, the way side shops solicit all types of business, we just just smiled and say NO. You need to carry water to drink, knee braces, if you are used to it.
We went slow n steady, reached the ticket place, 20 per person and they check for plastic bottles. You ho up granite steps, then steel steps, well made. The climb is steep in sections, goes up 300 steps into a cave. Just a cave, but what makes this special is the engravings of about 6k years ago.
Local guides appear magically, unofficial, you can pay them nominal fee. They explain well too 👍 Exit is clean too..
A good work out and an OK activity to do.. History buffs would love it!

I recently had the opportunity to explore the caves, and it was an absolutely incredible experience! The natural beauty and geological formations inside the caves left me speechless. T
The caves were well-maintained and well-lit, allowing us to appreciate the stunning stalactites and stalagmites that adorned the caverns.
The atmosphere inside was surreal, with a cool temperature and an otherworldly ambiance. It felt like stepping into a hidden realm right beneath the earth's surface.
I would highly recommend visiting these caves to anyone with an interest in geology, nature, or simply adventure. It's a memorable experience that allows you to appreciate the marvels of our planet and feel a sense of awe at the wonders hidden beneath our feet.

Edakkal caves are popular for its historic significance , place is believed to be 6000 years old with paintings and scriptures inside it. There is a medium to difficult trek to reach the caves depending upon person's stamina but I would say it was mostly medium. This place is not suitable for anyone who need wheelchair accessibility and not suitable for young children. From parking to ticket counter there is 1 km trek then there are around 380 steps to the top of the caves. View is breathtaking and steps are breathtaking too. But place is must visit. There are multiple outlets available on way to caves that you can easily find snacks and drinks.

Those who go there can experience a little trucking. You have to climb through rocks and steps to reach the top where the cave is located. The top of it has a very nice view of the Ambalavayal area. To get straight to the point. Don't Climb up if you are not up for a Km Trek to the top of the hill in a steep angle. I would not recommend this place for the elderly. Many years ago, my family and I had the privilege of visiting the Edakkal Caves, and it was an experience we will never forget. Located in the Western Ghats, these ancient caves are a natural wonder that will leave you awestruck.
As we began our trek to the caves, we were surrounded by lush greenery and the sound of birds chirping. The hike was moderately challenging, but the scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys made it well worth the effort.
Upon entering the caves, we were struck by the stunning rock formations and ancient carvings that adorned the walls. The caves are estimated to be over 6,000 years old, and the carvings depict scenes from everyday life, including animals, humans, and abstract symbols.
The most impressive aspect of the caves was the natural light that filtered through the cracks and crevices, casting an ethereal glow over the entire area. It was as if nature was putting on a show, and we were the lucky audience.
The views from outside the caves were equally breathtaking, with the rolling hills and valleys stretching out as far as the eye could see. We spent hours exploring the caves, taking in the history and natural beauty of this incredible place.

It is one best heritage caves we have in India, this has history to tell, the carving on the stones on the top of a hill tells a story of early Man , this is before the Indus valley civilization. The way to go on the top of the hill is covered with forest and you would love the chirping of birds and the green atmosphere, please be careful not to take any eatables in hand as there are lots of monkeys and they can snatch it from your hand. Also try to go early as possible , do not go on weekends as there will be a lot crowd and you will not be able to enjoy the whole experience.

The trek was quite tiring but the view at the top was worth it. Not suitable for aged people especially those with disabilities. The people who visit inside make a lot of noise and spoil the ambiance. Better to visit on a weekday when it is less crowded. Also try to visit right before closing hour which is at 4.30pm so that on your way down, you get to hear the symphony of nature that starts at sun down.

It is a nice place to visit. The walk from the parking spot to the cave can be difficult for people having walking issues or who have breathing problem. They should plan well and should ascend slowly. There are many shops for taking breaks.

I heard that there is a limit for the total counts of tickets like they will not allow more than 2000 tickets total for one day...

A place with an immense amount of historic remains. Eddakal caves, located in Wayanad is a proof of Neolithic settlements that date back to 6000 BCE. There are engravings on the walls that are pre historic in nature and make us to realise how much human hand evolved over time.
A must see place for anyone visiting Wayanad. If you are coming along with senior citizens, it would surely be a struggle as there is just a lot to climb and most of it is extremely steep. But it's worth the climb!

Reaching the main cave was a short but steep trek, followed by stairs. It was quite enjoyable, but one must wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The route throughout has a lot of shops to buy food, drinks, and souvenirs from. the top of the hill gives a nice view of the surrounding area. Would recommend visiting it as early in the morning as possible.

A revitalizing stroll through the natural landscape was undertaken, and due to the prevailing summer conditions, the environment was characterized by elevated temperatures and humidity levels. Additionally, there was a notable influx of tourists, even on a weekday. Upon reaching the summit, a magnificent vista of the surrounding hills unfolded before the observer.

Reaching Edakkal caves is simply completing a trek on its own. Starting at the base of the hill, you need to climb steep slopes to finally reach the base point, from where you climb the rocks to reach the caves. But the experience was mesmerizing. The climb, though, might be challenging for older people and those who are less experienced with going on treks. Still, for regular trekkers, this could be easily done.
From the base, you need to start climbing the stone steps. One needs to, though, be careful as the initial steps are simply cut out of the stone, and there is no support to hold onto except maintaining your own balance. Once you reach a certain level, there are railings to guide you. Post the railing, you must squeeze between rocks to get to the first cave structure. It is mesmerizing to see how big the structure is from the inside compared to the small entrance on the outside. A tiny well-like structure is also made inside, which still has water. After coming out of this cave, from the other end, a steel staircase needs to be used to reach the top.
For many people who are tired, there is also an option of going down using the same staircase from the halfway point, while others can continue climbing. The view from the top, though, is absolutely fantastic and soothing. It shows the entire expanse with lush green forests and hills facing the horizon in the background. Also, the calm wind blowing at the top is soothing. To the left from this viewpoint is another staircase leading to the second and main cave.
Here, across the maximum area, you could see ancient hieroglyphics written. The information board states that this once was the home during the Neolithic period. Various drawings and other symbols are carved onto the stone, and it is interesting to see that these have stood the test of time over several thousand years. At the end of the cave is a slit from which you can see the valley from the top of the mountain.
Once done viewing, you can start climbing back down using the same steel staircase, which takes you directly back to the base from where the climb starts. Overall, the place is a part of ancient human history and, though a slightly difficult trek, gives you the most amazing views.

Great place for TREKKERS!! Trekking is moderate but from parking you have to walk 2 km inside to reach the main entrance. I heard Jeep service is there .But when I was there could not spot any . The parking slot they give little far asked them to give parking slot 1 or 2 which is near starting point of trekking. Eateries and small shop are available. Beware of monkeys though . Ticket price Rs 50 for cave(it was only cash when I visited ) n for parking Rs 50 . The natural cave is maintained well n great place to get acquainted with our History. Overall nice experience 👍 one more thing " this cave is approximately 20 km away from Waynad city " 🙂

The place was truly amazing! Different parking slots were available, and a nominal fee of 20 rupees for bike parking was required at the entrance. After parking, there's about a kilometer journey to reach the assigned spot. From there, it's a challenging trek to the top where the cave is located – not for the faint-hearted. The entry charges is 50 rupees per person, advised to carry cash. The terrain is tough, and sturdy shoes are advised due to slippery roads. The descent poses a challenge with steep stairs, which could be dangerous.
However, the overall experience is worth it. The cave offers a unique visit, with lots of shops along the way for essentials. The adventure may be tough, but the scenic beauty and the sense of accomplishment make it a great experience.

Unique experience and amazing views of the valley from the caves.
The hike up to the caves was added fun, lots of shops for food, drinks and shopping available all along.
Recommend to take hats and sunglasses if going during noon time.

In the cave you can see many ancient architecture, drawings and writings. And also you can see the reason for the name of the cave 'Edakkal'.

To get straight to the point. Don't Climb up if you are not up for a Km Trek to the top of the hill in a steep angle. I would not recommend this place for the elderly. The views from the top are good though. I am attaching a few pictures with this. It's a pre-historic site which ignites a thought, as to how and why these carvings were made here.

The view from the top that this place offers is breathtaking. There is a trek that's needed to reach the top, which is not so simple, but it is definitely worth it. Once you reach the top, this place is a beauty! The caves have thousands of years old carvings.

It is a nice place to visit. The walk from the parking spot to the cave can be difficult for people having walking issues or who have breathing problem. They should plan well and should ascend slowly. There are many shops for taking breaks.
Although the main cave is not that big you should keep your expectations accordingly. The old rock carvings are clearly visible but if you want to understand them better, you can opt for guides who are available inside the caves.

Nice place. It has bit long trek. Like 5km up and down from the parking lot. First 1-1.5km is through the road around small shops. Then you will reach the ticket counter. 50rs is the entry fee. Then steep steps made up of iron or steel for 1km max. Finally you will see the cave with historical symbols by the early humans.

Visiting Edakkal Caves is interesting, but buying tickets can be a hassle since you can't pay online. Still, the guides are friendly and explain things well. But, the shops along the path can be annoying sometimes.Overall, it's worth a visit if you like history and nature.

You need to walk for 900 meters from the parking area. After you reach the entrance of the cave you have to climb a lot! Steps are provided but it’s very steep. Its initial hike is tough till the ticket counter and then it becomes less easy comparatively. Coming down is easy.

Soochipara Waterfalls is a magnificent 3-tiered waterfall that offers a refreshing pool at the base for swimming. It can be reached by taking a 10 to15-minute forest hike, which entails walking on a trail consisting of downhill, uphill and stairs that may prove challenging for older visitors but not insurmountable. Visitors should note that there are only free parking spaces available at the top; two other parking spots charge $40 each.
This place is so amazing and silent. After a nice walk through forest, we will reach the the waterfall which is located in between some huge rock formations. The best time to visit is morning. Looking to escape the chaos of city life? Waterfalls is the place to be! It's a fantastic spot to unwind and recharge your batteries. But fair warning, getting there can be a bit of a hassle.
First, you'll have to wait in a long line to get your tickets. They only allow 1200 people in per day, so it gets crowded. Once you've got your ticket, you'll need to walk about 1 kilometer to reach the falls. And then there are some stairs you'll have to go down.
But trust me, it's all worth it when you finally arrive. The place is absolutely stunning, and the view is breathtaking. You'll be able to enjoy the natural beauty and feel completely at peace.
Sure, it might take some effort to get there, but the tranquility and serenity make it all worthwhile. So, if you're in need of a break from the busy city, don't hesitate to visit the waterfalls. You won't regret it!

2) only 1200 people are allowed to visit per day.
3) The ticket is ₹59 as of today.

5) Try to visit on weekdays to avoid the crowd.

There is no food counter near the waterfalls, so make plans accordingly. The changing room is available at half of the water falls. But the water shattering through the air made us wet and we got down little in water and enjoyed . It was cold and felt energetic. This was a very fun experience. The waterfall is so much fun but you have to walk quite a few minutes to reach here. The walking makes you so tired but once you reach the waterfall you'll understand that it was all worth it. But beware of leeches all throughout the path. We enjoyed it so much in the falls. The water was so cold and chill.
And don't forget to keep all your belongings in the car itself as you don't want them to be in the water with you. Carry less and enjoy the waterfall experience to the fullest.
There are plenty of places to shop for souvenirs and many things inside and there is a giant swing as well.
Plenty of parking available and please make sure that you reach before the closing time so that you can get more time in the water.

A small waterfall, which you can visit if you are in wayanad. Not too different from other waterfalls and height is also not that much.
The pathway to reach the waterfall is quite steep and has lots of stairs as well, so it's like a very small trek.
Snacks or any food item isn't allowed.

Amazing waterfall experience after 1.5kms Trek through forest having stones laid way and steep steps down to the waterfall. Changing rooms available in approximate distance from falls where people could change before/after perfect time in water. Bit slippery so be very careful.
Crowded in weekends as well as they close by 5pm and limit the visitors on a day!

One of the highly visited place in wayanad. It is a waterfall with a good enough hieght, where people can bath, take pictures and play with the water. The water level is shallow making it ideal for all the age group. The entry ticket for this place is Rs. 65 and is not recommended on long weekends due to the high crowd. One can plan the visit here for bath, after which theycan go for zip lining and sky cycling during the time of return. It is give 4 star just becaus3 of high crowd, which resulted in a poor management of drinking water availability during the downhill trek to the waterfall.

This is a good place to mini trek till the waterfall. But you gotta be careful of leeches as I was bitten by 2 of them hence do not wear slippers. Choose shoes instead. Overall it was not very crowded which was good and the whole area was really clean and well maintained!
Chembra Peak, situated in the Wayanad hills, rises almost 7,000 ft. above sea level and boasts a heart-shaped lake and hiking trails. Visitors are charged an entry fee of approximately 20 INR for Indians, 30 INR for foreigners, and 15 INR for students. The peak is open from around 7 AM to 5 PM every day of the week.
Chembra hill situated at Wayanad stands 2100 m above sea level, it is the highest peak in Wayanad district and is one of the best trekking spots. The mountain and the surrounding area is lush green and a treat to nature lovers. I love trekking and this was one of my favourite for many reasons. Hiked the mountain few years back with my father, a sudden decision to travel to Wayanad and on our way we did not know if we could even go up the beautiful mountain. Dad and I haven't hiked together since and so it makes it special. The mountain has exotic and rare species of flora and fauna and tall grass all the way up on the trail. The climb to the top is with the help of guides and since they are from the area, they guided us to the top safely. There weren't many people when we hiked, so it was peaceful and the guides were free to show us around. They showed us the whole of Wayanad from the top and it was mesmerising and beautiful. There is a bit of off roading at first to reach the office where the entry fee has to be paid and to the parking area. There is no road as such and the path has rocks all over, so make sure you drive slow and not damage your vehicle. I am not sure if the road is better now! After you reach the parking area, you need to walk for 15-20 minutes through a tea estate to reach the foothill where the climb begins. The walk is really beautiful and a treat for photographers and nature lovers. Once you reach the foothill, there is a two storey watch tower, with a decent view. From this point we are assigned to a guide and we start the climb. It is a good climb to the top and best way to the top is not to rush yourself, keep a steady pace with frequent breaks. All they way to the top you will see natural springs and do make sure you take water with you and more importantly don't throw plastic bottles that you carry. It is a non smoking area, since forest fires are very common, please avoid smoking. As you start climbing to the top, the view gets better and better. The best spot up top is the heart shaped pond which is one of a kind. Even though we are allowed to hike to the top of chembra, we do not really go to the top most point. We are only allowed to climb up to certain point and you can see that the top point of the chembra peak is even further up and is inaccessible to people as it is dangerous. Near to the lake we spotted an animal skulls too, you can see it in the pictures uploaded. We were told that the pond was used by animals. Even though we forgot to carry water, the guides got us water from a natural stream and it was the best water I ever had. We were asked not to follow the guides to the stream as the path was dangerous and they din't want people to go there. Had a great time with dad, made few new friends and after few hours of peaceful time with nature, enjoying the cool breeze and a few snaps from top we slowly trekked down the mountain and drove back home.

A must visit!
Wayanad trip cannot be complete without chembra trek.
You need to reach to forest office to get ticket and limited people are allowed to trek therefore it's important reach early. Forest office is 4-5 km far from the trekking base. Medium difficulty trek, as you reach top view is breathtaking!

We had an amazing time here! The trekking is not easy, I would say that it is moderate. The place was very clean, no trash along the way. The charges for trekking were ₹1770 for 10 people. That amount is fixed for any number of people upto 10. You will not find any food stalls after this point. Opening time is 7AM. You can also visit the sightseeing point, which is ₹25 and not really tough to reach.

This is a super place!!!!! Very beautiful and green. There is a difficult trek (esp in monsoon season) that can easily take 3 hours.
On crowded days, you really have to plan well for visiting this place. The forest office only allows the first 200 people to visit. They start distributing the token at 5 am and the ticket counter opens at 7. We reached the place at 6 in the morning and could not do the trekking. The next day we reached the place at 3.30am, and we were still 34th in the number. At first, we were doubting if it is really worth waking up so early and going through the struggle to get the ticket, but when we started the trek, it was WORTH IT!!
The lake is very very beautiful and the views are breathtaking. It is so green, so wonderful that you would want to stay there for a long long time. My heart literally lost in the beauty of this place! You could enjoy nature and peace to the fullest here.
Make sure to get back to the base by 3pm though. Also, don't throw any waste into this place, keep it clean to preserve it for ages. They keep a security deposit for every water bottle that you carry with you. There are no food stalls on the way once you start the trek, so carry some light weight snacks with you.
And yes, beware of leeches in the monsoon season. Wear trekking shoes for a comfortable trek.

Reach the place by 5.00 AM IST buy the tickets by 6.00 AM and @ by 7.00... gates are open....No plastic bottles are allowed and one has to pay a fee of 50 INR per bottle which is refundable if returned after the trek.

Not an easy trek, moderate trek. Timings are strict starts morning 7.0 am, ends by 1.0 pm
Only limited number of people allowed per day, 200 people max. Tickets starts at 6.0 am morning, First come first serve basis, plastic bottles you have to pay deposit of 50 rupees each, to take plastic bottles with you, they will paste sticker on it and you have to return after completion of trek which is so good, this is reason no plastic found on hill. Hill view is amazing, worth the trek once you reach top. Lake is cool. Good thing is gaurds are there at specific checkposts while trekking, rules are strict that you will explore only the path not the other areas of hill. Overall experience is very good. Small kids, Above 50 years age it's very difficult to trek. If you come in groups it will be nice, amount is for 10 people it's 1770 rupees.

I went trekking to Chembra Peak in Wayanad with my cousins, and it was a fantastic experience. According to the existing rules, only 200 people per day are allowed to enter the forest area for trekking. The ticket cost was comparatively low, and we paid 1700 rupees for five people. They provide tokens to grant tickets starting at 6 AM, with ticket distribution beginning at 7 AM. The forest basement area opens at 7 AM, provided the paths are clear and there are no dangerous conditions like the presence of wild animals, heavy rains etc. We were the first ones to collect the tickets at this time, and we were on time.
Before starting the trek, you can have light snacks from nearby eateries, such as maggi, bread and omelets. There are no snack shops inside the trekking forest, and the area is strictly monitored by forest guards.
There is also a public toilet near the ticket counter that we can use before starting the trek. Inside the forest, there are small water streams that feel very refreshing.
Once we reach the trekking base point, there is a stairway leading to a building with a breathtaking view of the surrounding nature.
During our trek, we encountered a delay as wild elephants blocked our path. We had to wait until the path was clear. There were forest guards stationed at intervals to ensure the safety and count of trekkers. The forest was serene, and the climate was not too hot. Freshwater streams within the forest provided a source of clean drinking water.
The trekking paths were covered with forest grass and rocks, which could be slippery at times. It usually takes 40 to 60 minutes to cover the one-way distance for regular trekkers, but it took us nearly 1 hour and 35 minutes. We met different people along the way, and their supportive and helpful attitude was heartwarming.
Upon reaching the peak, the view was breathtaking. The Chembra Peak welcomed us with a heart-shaped lake, which was truly wonderful. The various shades of clouds and mountain views added to the beauty of the landscape, making us feel refreshed and excited. Chembra Peak is undoubtedly a must-visit destination at least once in a lifetime.
At the top, we also had the pleasure of meeting a family celebrating their child's second birthday with cakes and chocolates, which added to the joy of our experience.

It is a 3km hike. Best time to visit is during the winter months. You can literally be surrounded by clouds. The hike difficulty is moderate-high. The only downside is that the tickets to the place is super exclusive. Only 200 people a day are allowed. Rs. 1760 for a group of 5 plus Rs. 236 for every additional person. The view from the top is breathtaking, the unique part of the treck the lake at the top which is shaped like a heart.
If you are planning to hike this place, please reach the ticket counter by 1:30 to reserve your tickets.

It has an entry fee of around 20 INR for adults, with visiting hours from 9 AM to 5 PM every day of the week. Nice place to hangout with family. Well maintained lake with pedal boat and row boat facility. Cycling is also available. Entry ticket charges include Rs 30 for adults and Rs 20 for children. Heavy rush during weekends and holidays making road block by heavy vehicles as the road is narrow. Most people are not wearing mask during this pandemic situation. Car parking available for Rs 50 which is 300 metres away from entrance. Try to visit during week days to avoid the rush and enjoy the natural beauty.

The lake is beautiful, though not as maintained but it's in a valley surrounded by the mountains and so the view is mesmerizing. I'd not suggest going here on a weekend as it is very crowded and you won't get to do boating. You can roam around the lake and take in fresh air. Be aware of monkeys as it's a jungle region sorts. They also have stalls but a little overpriced ones.

Pookede lake was near where we stay. So first we visited this lake and it was not weekends unfortunately so it was not crowded much. The ambience was peaceful you can roam around if you don't want to go boating.

I recently visited this lake and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The place offers a nice ambiance with a good view, making it perfect for spending quality time with friends or family. However, I would suggest avoiding weekends as it tends to get too crowded, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the place.
One of the advantages of this lake is that there are plenty of options for food and shopping nearby. So, if you're in the mood for a snack or want to browse through some local items, you won't have to venture far.
Additionally, the lake offers boat rides, which is a great way to explore the surroundings and add some excitement to your visit. It's important to note that the last boat ride usually departs at 5 pm, so make sure you arrive before then to take full advantage of this activity.
If you prefer a leisurely stroll, you'll be delighted to know that there are paths around the lake that allow you to take in the scenery at your own pace. Furthermore, there are designated seating areas where you can relax and enjoy the view.
One thing to keep in mind is that the lake closes at 6 pm, so plan your visit accordingly to ensure you have enough time to fully enjoy the experience.
In conclusion, despite the weekend crowds, the lake is still a nice place to visit, offering a good view and ample opportunities to spend quality time. With nearby food and shopping options, boat rides, walking paths, and seating areas, it caters to various preferences. Just be mindful of the 5 pm cut-off time for boat rides and the 6 pm closing time of the lake

One of the highlights of Lakkidi View Point is the panoramic view of the hairpin bends on the road leading to Wayanad. It was a sight to behold as vehicles maneuvered through the curves, creating a captivating spectacle against the backdrop of the hills.
The only minor drawback was the limited amenities available at the viewpoint. There were no food or refreshment stalls, so it's advisable to carry snacks and water for a more comfortable experience.

The view is amazing but please ensure that you visit in the right season. The summer heat can give you a sun stroke. Be very careful while stepping out so that you don't get in the way of oncoming vehicles.

It was a wonderful view point with beautiful greenery all around this point. Parking space was difficult from this viewpoint due to limited parking space and the majority of people parking along the road, which is quite risky. You can spend up to maximum half an hour at this point to relax and enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Good view point. Although it's no parking board everywhere, people still park their cars and stop to view the scenery and click pictures. Beware of the monkeys

This place is known for its mesmerizing beauty. With its 9 hairpin bends and wonderful landscape, the view is breathtaking. No tickets are required and as the view point is on the way, the entry is absolutely free.

View point from top of the valley overlooking down to thamarasherry churam road. Perfect pic spot just before entering wayanad. Surrounded by monkey's better not to feed any.

Around half an hour from Padinjathara, this view point is famous for its views of the Hairpin curves in the area. You can see almost entire Calicut from the top. No entry fee, but difficult parking, this view point is right on the road. So take care and beware of monkeys.
People also visit this place for the beauty of both Sunrise and Sunset.
