Such a fun experience! The horses were beautiful and well behaved. The view of the fireweed on the hills was breathtaking. Ron was a lovely tour guide.

Just have to say this this was a great experience for our family. Every part of the process, from the first phone call to book our trip to our last day picking up our packages of frozen fish. Our Captain Devan and deck-mate Noah went out of their way to make this a memorable day on the water. They were very personable, making sure everyone was taken care of. We all came home with halibut and fish stories to share for years. All the staff and accommodations were great, I would highly recommend Afishunt to others! Lord willing we will be back soon...
Sara Saunders — Google review
Fabulous halibut fishing trip! Noah, our captain was wonderful, he took us to the right spots and we caught our maximum per person! There were 6 of us, I caught a 100 pound halibut and another lady caught a 110 pound halibut! With 3 decent size fish and one extra large, we brought home 75 pounds of halibut, all cleaned and vacuum sealed by the great crew at Afishunt!
Betty LeHew — Google review
From start to finish, Afishunt is a truly Alaskan experience. Captain Troy and deckhand Keegan, of the Voyageur were extremely friendly and worked together very well to provide a safe, educational, fish and fun filled charter. While there were a few things that were VERY unique about this charter, the most notable of these was that we were actively catching and reeling up fish the ENTIRE day. And while none of them were "barn door" status, that didn't bother us one bit, as we were there to catch dinner, which we most certainly did. I highly recommend these guys, and will be booking another charter with them as soon as there's more room in my freezer.
R J K — Google review
I don’t see how this company gets a five star rating? I put down the required deposit, planning a trip of a lifetime for my family. The day before our trip they called and cancelled our trip stating the captain was ill. A fleet of four or five boats and they don’t have the resources to man a boat. Obviously they over booked, and yes they catch fish, but don’t trust them to get you out fishing. There are plenty of charters to chose from, pick a different company if you really want to go halibut fishing.
Brett Tschetter — Google review
Great day of fishing with Captain Troy and Maddie from Afishunt Charters. Both were knowledgeable, helpful and a lot of fun to fish with. Halibut were biting like crazy during our entire time on the water, nothing massive but plenty of fish were caught. In addition to everyone’s 2 Halibut limit, 3 cod and one Skate Ray were caught, the Skate was returned. Caught fish were well cared for on the water. Once on shore our fish was quickly cleaned, vacuumed packed, frozen then boxed for transport. We stayed on-site in a cabin, clean and well equipped. Beautiful location, great fishing, fun group, and a great crew.
MARK O — Google review
My wife and I stayed in an RV on the campground; I went on for a day of halibut fishing on one of their three boats. We enjoyed our time with both of these. The campground was very clean. Good access to restrooms, level sites, and a nice laundry facility. Not the best view of the water, but its a short walk down to the beach and you get all the amenities that you wouldn't get at the state campground on the water.
The charter boat was excellent. I had Seth as the Captain and Flynn as the deckhand. Both were super professional and helpful out on the boat. The majority of my fishing has been done in the Bay Area and with the smaller boat you were able to get more personalized attention, which I thought was nice. They were great about coaching me along on some techniques and I was able to reel in two nice sized halibut.
Overall I'd recommend Afishhunt to both stay at and charter fish from. They provide a professional service that is an enjoyable experience. And what I personally enjoyed about staying in Ninilchik over Homer was that it seems like you have a little bit more of an authentic Alaskan experience. Homer seemed a little "touristy" whereas Ninilchik was just this nice little village. I'd also recommend hitting up the coffee shop across the street when you get up in the morning.
Kitsana Dounglomchan — Google review
Such a wonderful group of people! Unfortunately, We couldn't go out due to weather but they were so professional and accommodating. I appreciated them wanting to keep us safe. We stayed in one of the tiny houses and it was great! We will be back and try again.
Debbie — Google review
Highly recommend them . Captain Troy and deckhand Maddy was awesome! We sociable to talk to. They new what there was doing to catch fish. We are planning to go back with them next year.
Derek Yates — Google review
Hands down, we had an amazing day fishing with Afishhunt Charters! Capt. Colby and Deckhand Chase were phenomenal guides and even better conversationalists. We will plan to be back again. Best of luck in all the adventures everyone!!
Devon Selleck — Google review
We couldn't have asked for anything better during our charter. Noah and Keegan were fantastic, professional, and allowed us to have fun and catch fish. This was our youngest son's first charter and he definitely had the time of his life. From booking, to check in, and fish cleaning, it was a breeze. Thanks for the great experience.
Amy Sauck — Google review
Absolutely the best fishing trip I've been on. Flesia was an amazing host on the camp ground and her Captain Noah and deck hand Keagan were funny and professional. You will be amazed at how organized they are and proficient. Don't forget to order your sandwiches and grab a coffee at their main office.

I can’t say enough about the team at the RV park and our awesome fishing crew. We arrived to find a very clean, comfortable, dry, warm, and well equipped cabin and trailer to accommodate our family and friends. Great accommodations and did I mention clean. The entire experience was professional, courteous, and very friendly. We have been to AK before but AFishunt is going to get our repeat business and recommendations. We had a great boat team of Dad/Daughter of Capt Troy and Maddie(hope I didn’t misspell her name). They were super as guides and not only put us on a ton of fish, more importantly, kept us safe when the AK weather decided to get ugly. This is a top notch place and I would give it 6 stars if possible because of the friendly and over the top down to earth customer service this team gives.
Barry Sweigart — Google review
Skilled captains and clean facilities. They will put you on fish and make sure you’re having a great time while fishing. Everyone associated is friendly and helpful for the best experience you can have.
Went on the spring bear transportation/fishing charter. Captain Tanner and Josh were top notch! Awesome hunting and fishing experience. Would definitely recommend! Company took care of all of our needs, and we're super helpful before, during, and after the trip.
Chance McAllister — Google review
Ninilchik Charters cancelled my trip the day before and explained with mechanical issue, while one day before the cancellation they reminded me of the departure of the trip. I doubt whether it is true mechanical issue, but that is fine. I fortunately found another fishing charter and had a good experience. However, until today which is 20 days after the cancellation I still haven't received the promised refunding from Ninilchik Charters. Why it only took one or two days for them to decide to cancel my trip, while it has taken so long to do the refunding that is much easier?
**Update: they completed the refund after about 23 days. I will be giving a 4-star in this case.
Qifan Gu — Google review
Went out with Skylar today and had a great time! We all caught some awesome size halibut not just over size "chickens". He took us to an area that was just to catch big fish and we did just that. He even encouraged us to throw back some pretty decently sized fish to catch a bigger one. He was very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Definitely would go out fishing with him again!
Tanya Herriges — Google review
One of the top adventures that I’ve been on in my life! We encountered bears close up on two different trails and also observed them from a distance. The guides were great, I would definitely recommend this trip!
Melissa Daugherty — Google review
We did 2 days of river fishing for Salmon and 2 days deep sea for Halibut during the week of June 13th. We caught our limit of Halibut each time with some real good size fish. We also brought home a load of Cod. We missed the initial Salmon run, so fishing was spotty but the guides for the entire week were outstanding. I would recommend this service for a great time.

Do not book with Ninilchik Charters out of Seward.
My nephew booked a multi species charter on 6-8-2023 with Ninilchik Charters out of Seward.
First of all the boat was only about 25’ and the Captain was very young and had been in Alaska about 1 month. Second after riding for about 1 1/2 hours one of the motors quit working. They had had the oil changed a few days prior and the plug was not put back therefore causing motor to stop. They didn’t even make it out far enough to fish for Halibut. My nephew caught 2 - 6” fish. The other 3 people on boat did not catch but 1 or 2. Four foot swells added to the calamity especially when you are stalled in the water. Please refund my nephews money asap as Ninilchik Charters did not fulfill their contract as advertised. Thank you
Thank you for acknowledging the disappointing fishing day. Appreciate it.
Peg Redding — Google review
Ninilchik charters was excellent to go with. Our captains took care of all seven of us and did what it took to get us on the fish. Best of all is they were willing to stay until we all caught our limits. We each were able to get one large fish, in the 50lb range and then a smaller one. John the owner or manager was excellent to work with.
B Hayes — Google review
They are very helpful! Reasonably priced for charters and lodging. It was my first time in Alaska, and I've always wanted to go salmon fishing. This charter made it possible by creating a package for me that was within my budget!
I highly recommend going through this charter!
Karina R — Google review
We had a successful day with everyone getting their halibut limit. Captain Colby was very friendly and helpful. The way they launch the boats from shore to the wake was very interesting. It was a great day with friends. Our friends were able to park their RV there and with full hookups it was very affordable.

Went out with Ninilchik charters yesterday! Even before the trip started they went above and beyond to get us on the water as we were looking to book a trip before they actually opened making us their first trip of the season! Amazing group of guys! Had an amazing time. Started out not so great as my wife’s phone fell out of her pocket and into the harbor while getting on the boat lol. The crew as very fast to react however unfortunately there was never a chance to get it. Very happy that a crew member made every effort to try though! Very knowledgeable about fishing! Unfortunately my wife became seasick and asked to go back. Captain Thomas was very understanding and agreed. However he was determined to get us some fish and when we got into calmer water and noticed my wife was feeling better asked if she would feel comfortable fishing in the calm water which she agreed to. We ended up having a great time! 10/10 would go fishing with these guys again.

15 in my group, everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room, we all caught fish with 4 over 75 lbs and one over one hundred, we had all ages and everyone had a great time. Boat is fast for it size and clean. Crew was fun and hospitable.
CraigT — Google review
The Sundy took my friends and I out, along with 13 other people for an 8 hour halibut trip. When we got to the fishing spot and started catching Halibut, the deck hand started keeping our fish without telling us. One person from our group caught their limit in 15 minutes and was no longer allowed to fish.
Then, when I told the deck hands I wanted to keep fishing and not keep small fish, they told us it was about to storm although there were no storms in the forecast and we needed to hurry. So, our group of 17 people caught their "limits" in 3 hours.
The best part is when we got back to the dock (at 1pm instead of 4:30pm). The coast guard and federal agents were waiting for us and searched the boat. When the authorities entered the boat the whole attitudes changed of the boat crew. When the Police measured the fish carcasses, checked log books, and licenses, they were not happy! We should have had 17 fish over 28 inches and 17 under 28 inches. We only had 5 fish over 28 inches when we should have had 17! So, the charter lied to us about our fish size and were keeping way too many undersized fish! We got jipped. We paid $400/person and got small fish and a half-day excursion. This charter will take you to a "Chicken Yard" to where you limit out fast. If you're looking for "Barn Doors", this is NOT the charter for you, if they're still in business after the Coast Guard and Federal Police got done with them. They will also tell you to NOT leave a bad review, but this place is A RIPOFF!

I was fortunate enough to have gone out fishing with these guys in 2019. I had a great time. Every fishing spot we hit we caught fish. The captain's secret spots are real! The young captain was good. Even though it was a halibut fishing trip, I was lucky to have caught a huge silver salmon as well. The only downside of the trip for me was I got my limit a little too early into the trip. I spent the remaining half of the trip sleeping in the cabin.
The Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, a Russian Orthodox church located in Ninilchik, is a stunning historical landmark with over 100 years of history. Situated on a bluff overlooking the village, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and water. The church features five golden onion domes and is adjacent to a Russian Orthodox cemetery. Visitors can enjoy the serene atmosphere and appreciate the picturesque scenery of Cook Inlet and the nearby volcanoes.
A beautiful chapel rich with history. Services about once per month.

It was a great historical landmark.
If you do visit it in the winter time, park for down by the cemetery otherwise your car will get stuck on the hill.

I'll never travel to Kenai Fjords National Park without this trip planner again
The Pratt Museum and Park showcases exhibits on local science, history, Alaska Native artifacts, and art. Its interactive displays on wildlife captivate visitors of all ages, while the Storm Warning Theater shares sobering accounts of fishing in Kachemak Bay. Additionally, the museum features informative exhibits on Homer History, Valdez Oil Spill, Bears and Sea life. Visitors can also explore the Pratt Homestead Cabin and Forest Trails outside.
Fantastic exhibits on Homer History, Valdez Oil Spill, Bears, and Sea life. There is so much to see here that you'll need at least an hour.
Don't forget to visit the Pratt Homestead Cabin and Pratt Museum Forest Trails outside.

Bearing in mind that Homer is a fairly small town, it's a slight surprise there's a museum here at all. It's not a large building by any means, (but they do really maximize the use of the space that is available. There's art, videos, and information on the native peoples of the area, the history of the region, and life in a small seafaring community. There's also a historic cabin (which unfortunate you can't actually enter) that shows how old timers lived in the homesteading era. Price is $15, although there are various discounts.

Fabulous local museum, whale skeleton , a stuffed bear to have your picture taken with, rotating art exhibits . Not to be missed if you are in Homer. Wolves and more. Free parking
jack gondela — Google review
We really enjoyed this museum. We learned about the Kilcher family who appear on Alaska the Last Frontier. We also learned about animals as well as Alaskan natives way of life. So many things from floor to ceiling to look at :).

You want to getting know the place like Homer you need to go to a museum !! I am surprised the museum is displayed so well does not look like a small town museum. Lots knowledge to learn from history and people how to survived in the old days . I am graded my daughter been there to learn something.

Small.. Cheap.. Lots of information. Older lady at desk was very helpful and knew quiet a bit about the culture and history. It has local art from modern age people within the last few years and also stuff from tribes many years ago.. The back has animal info and a bird watching camera feed from bird island. Its worth going to once u hit homer to better appreciate ur surroundings

A gem in downtown Homer. Though somewhat small, it is crammed with exhibits that provide an insight into the people who came to Alaska for a fresh start. Lots of interact areas with audio about the settlers, plan to spend a lot of time if you get hooked on one of the stories. We also enjoyed the videos in the basement area with the wildlife displays. A plus for my wife who is a quilter were a number of quilts around the building including one that was being raffled off.
Outside is a example of a settler cabin including the out-building.
A very nice option on any day but especially if you need to find an inside activity on inclement weather.

An amiable little museum, exhibits about the environment, worth a visit.
The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, also called Islands & Ocean, is a research facility and museum that serves as a home to huge numbers of seabirds. It offers informative exhibits about these birds and their habitats in an interactive way, including a replica seabird colony where visitors can hear bird calls and observe flocking behavior. This center is ideal for families looking for an educational and entertaining experience. The outside area features trails for walking or hiking after a long drive.
A wonderful center that covers all the wildlife and history of the area. You can hike down to a slough and bishops beach too. It's maybe a 10 minute walk and ADA accessible.

If you're looking for a great place to take the family then visit the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center.
The exhibits are very well done. Most of the exhibits are interactive, so the kids should have fun pressing buttons. Outside are some trails to help stretch the legs from that long drive.
Plenty of parking for vehicles and large RVs. Restrooms are here, but no food.
Ryan Stafford — Google review
Great visit. So happy things are touchable again. Less stuff than they used to have before Covid. Ask at the desk for a kids activity. Fill it out and the kids get a badge.
Amanda Hamell — Google review
Informative displays. Learned new things. Good pathway thru resting bird area to beach. Worth the visit
E Goecke — Google review
It's just one of those great interactive educational places for kids and believe me as an adult....I learned a lot too! There are a lot of buttons to push and a lot of sounds so the kids will enjoy it. Gets into the ecosystem and the history of the area. There's plenty of parking, no charge, no wait just walk right in. I can't review it for my 7-year-old granddaughter but I guarantee she would give it five stars. She had a blast! It's very near Bishop's beach and the tidal pools and I know they have tours that leave from there and do a walk. Didn't have time to take it but will next time.

Very informative and beautiful visitor center with lots of special programs. I was lucky enough to attend Watercolor Wednesday. While I hadn't used watercolors since grade school, the facilitator had many examples, techniques, and simply great ideas that everyone left with a beautiful memento... Even me! Such great staff - knowledgeable, courteous, and kind.
Pam Shedden — Google review
The museum offers lotta history about the local area, wildlife and indigenous people. Take the time to watch the movie as well. They do require masks with your supplied if you don’t have any while inside the building.
Marc Shoemaker — Google review
Really nice, free museum with a surprisingly broad range of exhibits. I would say that it's oriented more towards families but as a single 30 something adult I found it to be interesting enough to spend 45 minutes there. Information about local wildlife, ecology, conservation and the world war 2 battle between Japan and the US in the Aleutian islands. There are two 15 minute movies you can watch. I didn't watch either of them but I saw others who did.
Short walk from here to Bishop's Beach to get a first-hand experience of the ocean life. Stop at Two Sisters Cafe along the way to fuel up for the journey (or to treat yourself for making so many good choices in one day)
Andrew Elegante — Google review
It's free and great for families it anyone who wants to learn more about the wildlife refuge. Great exibits, friendly, helpful staff. If you can, take the walking tour outside, even the locals will learn things.

Good for kids. Very informative video in theatre hall. One nice spot with one bench after 5 minutes trail.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Tree and Sea package tours. Our guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a ton and saw so many cool organisms!! We couldn't believe that the combined total for both tours was only $15 per person. We would have paid double for this quality without batting an eye!

We were thrilled with our Creatures under the Dock tour. Ryan and Megan were incredibly knowledgeable and were able to answer every question we had. They showed us the most amazing sea life just below our feet. We highly recommend this tour and it is well worth the money!
Tammy Herslebs — Google review
In looking for things to do on our family vacation in Alaska with children ages 5, 8 and 9 I found the Creatures of the Dock tour and thought this would be so much fun for the kids.
Well it was outside a lot fun and very interesting for us adults ages 36 to 66. There was other adults off a cruise ship who were enjoying just as much. Our guide/researcher pointed out many species growing under the docks and on boats that have not left the harbor in awhile. She was fantastic with the kids. She pulled out a true sea star and let everyone place it on their arm, it would pull up on your hair and skin. She pulled out a sea urchin for all to touch or place in their palm and showed you how to touch others anemones that were attached to the docks. They are very careful to put all back where they found them and that you are very tender with all. If you are a family ask for the family discount, was very cheap price for a great hour of your time. Highly recommend.

Great little shop! They gave us a free animal track guide, and they even helped us identify some bones we found while beach combing! Good variety of shirts and hoodies, and the staff were INCREDIBLY friendly!

They do a good job of providing education about our local environment. Cheap snowshoe rentals in the summer. The small gift shop has interesting items.

Very friendly and helpful staff! I took pictures of a bird I couldn't find in our field guides and they identified it immediately. They do educational, hands-on things for the area's youth. Better than them wasting their minds and lives playing video games.

Went on a dock discovery tour with Daisy from the yurt on the spit. She was great as was the tour. I don’t know how anyone could miss this gem! Highly recommended.
Homer Spit is a renowned attraction known for its exceptionally long road into the ocean, offering beautiful scenic bay views and a variety of restaurants and camping sites. For those who love to explore, it is an ideal spot for long walks on the beach, jogging, playing with pets or indulging in meditation. Visitors can also observe the fascinating rise and fall of tides during their visit.
It's a cool boardwalk area with lots of independent shops and restaurants. So many cool souvenirs and all the shops had different custom items. We had a great afternoon exploring the area

A must-visit if you're in Homer whether you're looking for a unique Alaskan adventure (fishing, day tours to watch bears or marine wildlife, and more), or just passing through. There are a lot of souvenir shops featuring arts and crafts by local Alaskan artists as well as restaurants where you can enjoy fresh catch of the day! Best times to visit are during the summer months.

On recommendation from a chef/friend, we tried this gem of a spot 9n the Homer Spit.
It was fantastic! The staff is warm and welcoming! The view is beautiful! The food is well prepared with fresh ingredients. Some of the best grits I've eaten. Small menu, but you can't go wrong if you love seafood.

We spent 4 days here, it was fantastic really. My husband rented a pole for $20 and spent the day fishing at the fishing hole. Caught 2 Salmon! We shopped the boardwalk and took a boat ride to Seldovia (Highly Recommended) . My husband took a Charter boat out one day and caught Halibut/rock fish/Cod. Very fun 4 days. Do not stay at the Heritage RV park unless you want to look at the backside of campers or miraculously caught the one day a beach site opened up. You can ask every day for an opening and they will say none available and then book someone else in those spots. Stay at the end at the Homer Spit Campground they have better views for everyone and easier to work with. Heritage they were rude to some people down the way and they almost left because of it.

Breath taking views of the ocean, harbor, snow mountain range..
Love the melodies of the waves and the winds.
Stood in the end of homer spit for a few hours at 8 degree.. didn’t even notice hands got freezing cold..
What an experience...
Saw this lone bald eagle resting on a branch, and I stood with it for the whole morning..
Saw sunrise behind the snow mountain peak.
Stunned by the scenery.
Feeling this inner peace and freedom.
Feeing the moment when I have all the scenery by myself.
This serenity and tranquility are what to live for. (Break away from stressing city life.)
People are here so kind and warm-hearted ,
With the best scenery and nature you can get in this planet, I cherish every second here in Homer, in Alaska...

Gorgeous views, mostly good restaraunts, cute seaside aesthetic, it's a fun place to walk around and shop when the weather is nice. Lots of local art featured in stores. Great place to take a fishing charter, water tour, or play pokemon go. Downside is it is super crowded, both with vehicles and people. RV campgrounds at the beginning smell super bad. Worth the visit If you haven't been.

Hiked the Spit December 21st and really enjoyed the views and the American bald eagle watching, we saw at least 10 different eagles up close. The hiking path is black top and will maintained and distanced adequately from the road. What's really cool is just walking along the beach on either side of the road. Hike is just over 6 miles long out and back. Beach had great views of mountains. Lots of cool shops at the end.
Bear Creek Winery offers a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy, including the Homer Spit and Kachemak Bay State & Wilderness Park accessible by water taxi. While there, one can grab lunch at The Saltry. The winery boasts knowledgeable staff who provide excellent customer service, with Andrea answering questions and even promoting other Alaskan businesses in the tasting area. As an out-of-state visitor, the wines appealed to the palate of those in their home state and surrounding areas.
Andrea was so helpful during my wine tasting. She answered my many questions, explained to me what gooseberries are, and gave a shout out to other Alaska businesses selling items in the tasting area. She was a professional and gave superb customer service. As a NC transplant, these wines are perfect for the palate of those in my home state and surrounding areas. Highly recommend!

We stayed for one night in the Arctic themed suite. And the room was clean and had a lovely quiet feel. Made it very easy to unwind and take a break from the day to day. And thanks to the lovely ladies in the tasting room. I found a wine that I enjoyed and will definitley be grabbing more. On our next stay in town.

We had a wonderful time at this winery! Katlyn, who assisted us with our wine tasting, was incredibly kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. The wines were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend stopping by for a tasting when you're in the area. We bought six superb bottles, with 'Inet Sunrise' and 'Fireside Delight' being our favorites. We also picked up 'Kiwi Pear' and ' Apricot Peach' to enjoy this summer. We'll definitely be returning to Bear Creek Wines for more!"

Wow what an amazing place!! The ambiance is so relaxing and full of local goods! The decor inside is just fantastic and you can’t help but keep looking around. I love the fact that they have other local Alaskan businesses stuff available because you can support so many local places in one spot!
The ladies who helped us with the wine samples were so knowledgeable and very friendly. They kindly answered all of our questions. The wine 🍷 is absolutely mouthwatering! With so many flavors you’ll definitely find one or more you love! We purchased a couple bottles as well as some swag. We will definitely come back again next time we are in Homer!

Andrea did a wonderful job explaining the different wine options and how they are made. She was very knowledgeable and offered recommendations based on our liking (which were spot on and delicious!) The prices were very reasonable for the tasting and the wine, and the view is incredible.

$5 tastings of 8 DELICIOUS flavors!! Black currant was our favorite, we took a bottle home. A great, sustainability focused business that collaborates with local farmers and foragers in order to get the berries for the wine.

We love Bear Creek Winery. All of their rooms are clean, comfortable and pretty. Their wines are outstanding. Add in the stone hot tub and beautiful gardens, which makes for a wonderful stay. We stay here at least once or twice a year. Great people, great view and great times.

Had my wedding here, the garden was an amazing place, the wine is so good, and the staff is beyond amazing and so helpful. I would recommend this venue for anyone having a relaxing Homer AK wedding at a great price. My wife loved how the apartment and suites were so close for her to get ready. I loved the fire pit for getting together with family and friends before and after the wedding. Did I mention how helpful and wonder the staff was... we will be back! Thank you Bear Creek Winery for hosting us!

The black currant wine is amazing. Bear creek introduced me to the world of fruit wines and showed me that it’s much more delicious and dynamic than I previously thought. They use local ingredients which is so important for keeping dollars in Alaska. They’re innovating in the wine industry and making good change.
Had a great time fishing with Collin & his first mate Willie.
Super knowledgeable of the river, fishing times, and bait / combo to use to help catch King Salmon.
I would highly recommend if you are looking to fish The Kenai River for Kings.
Very good experience overall and would use him again for my next fishing trip to Alaska.

I've paid for six charters in Alaska and I can honestly say this is the first that was worth every penny. Sledge put us on the fish, even with bait restrictions, and vastly expanded every facet of my fishing knowledge. He knows how to fish in Alaska and is just a great dude. Come prepared to ask alot of questions and have a great time!

Collin is a knowledgeable, flexible, and an overall great person to work with. I would recommend his services to anyone looking to have a good time in Alaska.
Note- My trip was in July 2019
Had the most amazing time and it was by far the highlight of my AK trip. We were initially supposed to go out but due to inclement weather, we were grounded. I'm glad they stress safety first and its not just about making money. Once rescheduled, I had a great experience thanks to my guide Luke! He was very knowledgeable and took me to some ideal spots to photograph bears and other wildlife. Once I had enough footage, we went fishing and as you can see from the photos, it was a good one! Absolutely beautiful time. Already planning to return again. Can't wait!

He got us out there and picked us up as planned, but he went above and beyond (quite literally:-) to answer all the questions I had, since it was my first time on a float plane. Thanks so much Nate for letting me be your copilot, and for the awesome experience and incredible memories- one of the coolest things I did while I was here!!

This was my second adventure with Alaska West Air and it again did not disappoint! My dad and I went two days in August 2013 with Tony and had such a great time. My dad loved it so much, he and my mom went back several years in a row after that and had Badger as a guide. My partner and I had Daniel as a guide this time and again we had a blast. We saw bears (which was super awesome) and lots of beautiful scenery. Daniel was really helpful to everyone in our group. I highly recommend Tony, Badger, and Daniel, as well as everyone at Alaska West Air! Service is excellent and the experiences of breathtaking scenery and adventure will stay with you! Can't wait to come back again!

My fiancé and I splurged and decided to do the bear viewing and fishing for our last full day in Alaska (our first time here). It was incredible! Alaska West Air was recommended by a friend who used them less than a week before so we reached out last minute and thankfully spots were available. Flip was our guide and his passion for what he does along with making sure his passengers have a good experience is everything you could want. He was amazing! Highly recommend him as your guide! We saw so many bears and caught our limit of fish quickly. We lucked out with great weather. On the way back I guess you usually fly over the glacier but the weather going out was starting to get bad so we skipped that. Bummer but also happy that they value our safety over anything else. This was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend using Alaska West Air

I had the pleasure of flying with Alaska West Air via a fly-in fishing package with Jimmie Jack’s Fishing and this trip was truly exceptional. Duncan was our pilot and he made flying the DHC-2 Beaver look like a walk in the park. The scenery was phenomenal and it was a nice comfortable flight across the Inlet to the fishing spot. Everyone at the lodge who did the fly-in was also talking about what an incredible experience it was. I’d recommend this trip to anyone, any day.

Nice visitors center. Friendly staff. Movies about the area. Gift shop, nice restrooms. Great place for information on places to see and things to do. Also has a Saturday market in the parking lot, with many local arts and crafts, food and fun. A must visit when you get to kenai.
Wonderful visitor center to start your visit to the Kenai Wildlife National Refuge Visitor Center. The display showing the salmon run is fascinating as it shows with little lights the salmon swimming from the ocean to the various rivers in the National Refuge. There are also great displays showing the rich diversity of the area in terms of wild animals. The bear in the refuge shows clearly the majesty of these animals. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. A visit to the Kenai Wildlife National Refuge Visitor Center is worth every minute of your time!

Excellent nature's place. The staff here is very nice, helpful and knowledgeble of the area and it's habitants. The visitor center it's packed with information and the trails are beautiful. We even got the pleasure of seeing a mama Moose with it's calf, no more than 25 feet from us at the Centennial Trail. Well worth the time spent here.
Charles Usher — Google review
The visitor Center was closed due to the COVID, which was a real bummer, but the trailhead had useful information as well as informative plaques throughout the trails. The trail is well managed and the wildlife viewing was abundant. Hikers beware, signs of bears throughout and the moose we encountered were ill tempered. Make plenty of noise and respect a safe distance between animals.

They have a nice walking trail near the statue of the big moose that does about a 3 mile loop with a couple shorter loops. The trails were nice with a boardwalk section down to water. Bring your bug spray and maybe even bear spray as bear frequent the area, per the sign on the trail.

Trail was well maintained. The walkway to the lake was beautiful and not too far. There's just a lot of signs which can make it a tad confusing but over all it was a very easy walk.

Masks required right now but they have some in the entrance for you.
The food was great and so was the atmosphere. Had a Reuben and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both regular and sweet potato fries were cooked to golden perfection. The beers were liked by the other people in our group. It was nice to be able to bring the dogs to the back patio area as well.

Beautiful interior, nicely designed with customer path flow being open enough.
Beer counter is nice and easy to read, awesome choices. I had the breakfast beer.
It had a nicely balanced earthly oat with only light bitter back note. The food choices are well known; poutine with beer gravy and cheese curds was delicious, well balanced gravy with melty cheese curds and proper portions.
These paired nicely for a brunch visit.

I came to Kenai River Brewing with a large group of 10 in early June. We came during the lunch hour and as expected, it was busy. They did a great job getting all our food out in a timely manner and worked with our group to get us a seat.
The food here was delicious. I ordered the Reuben with Sweet Potato Fries and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was piled with meat and the fries were cooked perfectly.
Ordering was done at a central register and food was brought out to us at the table. Tables were seat yourself and the staff was helpful with suggestions for what to order. It was relatively quick given the lunch rush and the staff was very friendly.
The ambiance was exactly what I would expect from a brewery. People were laid back and friendly. Overall, I'd definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to grab a bite in the Soldotna area.

A good experience for a first time salmon fisher! Cody was definitely knowledgeable and knew the proper places and techniques for the best success. His teaching style was more hands off - he allowed you to try out your own thing and gave you pointers here and there. Nice, but not very conversational guy. Interactions were short and to the point. Although we had a nice day, if we were to book again, we would ask for a guide who prefers to be more involved in the teaching process and overall guest engagement!

These guides are the real deal! My family has fly fished with them several times on the Kenai River, and we've already booked our trip for next year. This was my first trip with them and it blew away my expectations! We fished four days and stayed at the Silver Tip Lodge. They found us great drifts because they have the best boats on the river, and they offered great instruction on the techniques needed to land huge trout...as Nick taught me, this isn't the same as small stream Colorado fishing :) Thanks to all of our guides: Nigel, Nic, and Jeremy for an amazing trip!!!

Amazing place to watch salmon run and maybe catch some bear viewing. Easy 5mi round trip trail good for all versions of hikers.
$11 CASH ONLY to park for the day before hiking/fishing. A grizzly has been living there for quite some time, I was lucky enough to catch some awesome pictures when she and her cubs came out. You are never guaranteed to see a bear, so be patient!

More of a stroll than a hike. Very easy to follow with quite a few offshoots.. most likely game trails. I was searching for bears here but I didn't see any.

A good 2.5 miles from the campground to the Falls/rapids.
I wouldn't necessarily call it a falls as it is pretty much white water rapids. Its not to hard of a hike however with an 8 & 12yo you would think its Mount Everest.
The water was flowing alot and didn't see any bears.
Keith Gammel — Google review
Easy and beautiful hike up to the falls (took us 2 hours total) and even if we didnt see bears fishing, we did watch the salmon jumping for 15 mins so hike was worthwhile.

Beautiful, amazing natural falls. If you're lucky you may see a bear eating salmon as they jump up the falls, which is a sight to behold. I highly recommend doing the 2 mile hike to see the falls, it is definitely worth it. The path for the hike is a good gravel path, so even those who are not prime walkers can make the hike fairly easily.

We visited on a Monday in early June. We were able to watch a handful of salmon leaping out of the water trying to traverse the rapids against the current. It took some patients, but if you kept an eye out you would see one jump every 3 to 4 minutes

This is a great hike. The trail is well maintained and easy. About 4 miles round trip. It is amazing to see the salmon jumó up the falls. We stayed at the end for a couple hours enjoying the unique experience. I’d highly recommend doing this hike.
Tron Graham — Google review
We couldn’t finish the trek completely because of the closure of a part of it for maintenance. The hike seemed like a bit of repetition of experience we had during slaughter trail. I recommend doing just one trek in this region. It saves time for other activities like rafting and fishing.
Apoorva Kiran — Google review
It is so fascinating to watch the salmon try to go up these falls.
Some jump right into the rocks. Some swim furiously up the intense roaring channels only to be swept back down again. Some jump to a middle pool and then to an upper pool only to be swept back down a different channel. A few make it to the next round of falls and start the ordeal again.
A seagull watched all day long on the shore for a salmon to give up and provide it with an easy meal.
It really makes you think about the intense struggle of life.
This location allows you to watch from above on two different platforms. You can also hike down to the bottom of the falls to get a closer look. I was able to reach into a pool and touch the salmon who were temporarily resting before their next attempt.
Michael Bowers — Google review
You need luck and patience to see some bears hunting the salmon fishes. And it’s Alaska, so you need bear spray and bug spray.
Had a great time hiking about 5 miles total, to the falls and back.
Colin Minnick — Google review
We stayed at the campground. I was disappointed with the condition of their dumpster in the campground. See picture. The dumpster had smelly garbage bags hanging on the outside. It had been over full for days and just been emptied. I am surprised it didn't attach bears.
I felt the black bears on the river were aggressive. They appear to have learned to take fish stringers from left them unattended. I thought I observed this two times. My son and I were also stalked by a black bear while fishing in an isolated area on the Kenia River. We realize it was waiting for us to catch a fish. We stopped fishing and decided we needed to leave. The bear had us pinned in the river while it stood on the bank. When it moved back in the brush, we cautiously moved a few feet down the bank and exited the river. Futunately, went we could got out river the bear fled as we were moving thru the brush.

The Russian River is a great place to go fishing. Clean clear water to fish for sockeye salmon during the runs. I find it to be a great day trip during the week.
Kenai Fjords National Park boasts a stunning glacier that is accessible via nature center and hiking trails. Visitors are advised to rent a car from budget rental providers like Alamo or Sixt, as most hotels and other excursions require transportation. While Seward is primarily known for Exit Glacier, the one-mile loop hike may not be enough for experienced hikers who crave more adventure. The 7-9 hour Harding Icefield Trail offers a rustic experience with less tourist activity.
There are three options for Exit Glacier. I highly recommend Option 3 for the Ice Hike and/or climb if you are physically fit enough to do so!
OPTION 1: WALK THE GLACIER VIEW TRAIL. This is an easy loop and you'll get a distance photo shot of the glacier. I would recommend this for those that do not hike very frequently.
OPTION 2: HIKE TO HARDING ICEFIELD. This is going to be a long strenuous hike, but all the locals talk about how incredible it is to get to the top and see the ice field go on for miles. It is 8 miles round trip. I would recommend using the All Trails application or talking to a local guide. There are local guides that will take you on this trip as well if you're not comfortable doing it with out.
OPTION 3: ICE HIKE OR CLIMB ON EXIT GLACIER. This should be done with a local guide from Seward. I recommend Exit Glacier Guides, though there are other companies. All tour companies are limited to 6 guest max with 2 guides for permits. It will include a 1.5 mile hike out to access the glacier, provided gear change before hiking onto the glacier, and then repelling into the glacier if you purchased the climbing package. By far the best activity we did in all of Seward and a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Note: you will sweat on the way up, and be freezing cold at the top of glacier due to wind. Pack layers.
FACILITIES: There is one road into the park and if you're driving yourself, they caution parking availability (plenty in August on a weekday in 2021). Lots of shuttle options available from Seward otherwise. There is a restroom and water available at the trailhead.
MUST BRING: Sunglasses (MUST HAVE due to reflection from sun), sunscreen, water, rain gear, synthetic layers from shorts & t-shirt to hat/mittens/wind jacket, bear spray if hiking with out a guide (can rent this from Exit Glacier Guides as most stores will be out).
SAFETY TIPS:
- Glaciers constantly are shifting and cracks can be 50 meters deep with freezing rushing water underneath. Do not step onto the glacier with out a guide!
- Due to Covid, bear spotting have been increasing in 2020-2021. Rent bear spray and learn how to use it. Watch a video about bear safety & never run from a bear.
- Research the best time of year to hike or climb. Avalanche danger is real and they close the park for safety.
- Do not underestimate elevation, hydrate early
- Bring more water than you think you'll need (1 Liter min. per person for lookout hike or hike with guides, 2 Liter min. if going all the way to ice field). If go with guides, they will allow you to refill with glacier water at the top.

Great place. The glacier is retreating every day. There are trails can see the track of retreating history. Better to visit after June. Because it only opened up to Marmot Meadows, when we visited early June last year.

Cool Glacier. Easy quick trail. If you go to the bottom of the glacier boots are a must to make it easier walking in the rocks and over the streams. From inside the glacier is awesome. How old is the ice above... the weight above... it's eerie.

This place is a must! Great hike upto the glacier. Lots of rocks to climb on. Easy trail at first but more of a moderate climb up by the glacier. Worth the hike
Becca — Google review
If you are staying in Seward, you must visit the glacier. If you have the time (and stamina) you need to hike up the trail to the Harding Icefield as well. It is an 8 mile hike (round trip) and climbs 4,000 feet so bring plenty of water. You will ascend above the tree line as you go up. It is a bit cool at the top, but the view is magnificent.
Bill Delperdange — Google review
Absolutely love going this! Wish I had more time to hike to the ice fields but the hike to Meadows was enjoyable even during a constant light rain hike. Worth going. Best part is free to enjoy nature. Has signs to show where glacier was in what's years. Perfect hike for a lunch date with a view

I went in the off season. Would strongly suggest getting a snow mobile otherwise the 7.5mi hike (the road is out) is too much. We only made it to the parking lot because some of the hikers were struggling in the soft snow and the sun was going to set soon. We also encountered an angry moose so be warned. Glacier still looked cool from there.

This is a relatively easy 2 mile loop to Glacier Overlook. Take the Glacier View Loop trail through the woods to get to the Glacier View point and then take the Glacier Overlook Trail to the Glacier Overlook point. The first half is a paved and easy trail with no elevation gain. The second half has some elevation gain and is rocky. Please wear sturdy shoes. See beautiful panoramic vistas of the Exit Glacier as it spills down the Harding Icefield. Do visit the Nature Center at the start of the trail. It has lovely exhibits related to glaciation and Kenai Fjords National Park. 1.5 hours is a decent time at this trail and nature center.

This is an easy walk and fun, climbing rocks and exploring the outwash. We spent about 2 hours here just exploring. Had to circle the parking lots twice for parking at 1pm. There are bathrooms and the rangers are very helpful. We saw lots of people but still were able to walk the trail alone.
Great place to stop, even with kids. Don’t miss these amazing views!!

Such a cool experience. Easy walk for anyone who is able to walk or wheel out on the handicapped trail. A must see if you visit this part of Alaska

Gorgeous hike with stellar fall colors! We did the hike to the glacier overlook and it was pretty easy with only a few short inclines. Sad but cool to see the signs showing where the glacier was at different times. A must-hike if you’re in the area!
The cabin rental agency, Miller's Landing, received negative feedback regarding an employee who was perceived as rude and unhelpful. However, the company responded positively to the customer's feedback and expressed appreciation for their time. Despite this incident, the company has received positive reviews from other customers who have interacted with friendly and helpful staff members. It is unclear if this incident reflects the overall culture of the company or if it was an isolated event.
Just called to ask for a little help off season.
Update 3/24/2022: Received response from company…I’m glad the employee has moved on if they do not represent your culture. Thanks for taking the time and appreciating customer feedback. I will be happy to give Miller’s another shot.
The employee that answered was just so extremely short and rude that it was really deterring. Unreal…could have at least heard me out for some advice. Would definitely look elsewhere if ever there on-season. I’ve talked to sooo many nice people since planning my trip, and he was definitely not one of them.

My friends and I stayed here over the weekend in the full yurt, we absolutely loved it! Super cozy, great location right on the water, very peaceful. Close to the harbor, downtown and sea life center. Exit glacier is only a 25 minute drive as well and we got to see some bears and moose on our way there. The wood burning stove inside is lovely, but you will need a lot of wood to stay warm (if you're going when it's cold of course). It got a bit chilly early morning hours when the wood was gone, so dress warm and bring extra blankets! We will absolutely come back!

My wife and I went on the half-day kayaking adventure. It was amazing! Alora (our guide) was so friendly and informative. She took care of everything and made us feel safe. She also took and shared some epic photos.
Additionally, we were staying near the Miller's Landing facility and drank from their bar, both coffees in the morning and beers in the evening.
I 100% recommend Miller's Landing! We will be back. :)

The Bungalow was Great, Place was easy to find and the Short drive there was full of adventure and great views. Owner gave us tons of privacy and were very kind hearted.
Apon arrival in early April we seen Eagles, Seagulls, Jelly fish, sea otters, and what seemed like a heard sea lions a long with alot of exotic ducks in the Crystal blue waters. It made the Aquarium in Seward seem lame. Beach was great to get a early morning run in, Tanning and walks really took the stress of the everyday life away. The house was very clean, Everything worked. It felt safe with the most perfect view of the ocean. In our 4 day stay We had sun, rain, snow, wind and clouds and each day was more beautiful than the last. I've been in Alaska for almost a decade and from the service to the views you can't get much better than this around here..
There are two very well trained and well mannered dogs that are a blessing as you will see , Very wise and excepted our 3 little ones and us two immediately and considering the coast of Alaska has the biggest bears in the world you couldn't be safer then to have two of mans best friends by your side. They were quiet and also gave us privacy. Never even jumped on anyone . Not a nuisance at all. The night sky on the patio was worth the price alone. Had a BBQ on the patio on the beach and ate like a king all week in a place that seemed out of this world. I can not wait to come back. Thanks for everything.

If you like quiet and laid back without being to far out, this is for you. Tristan who checked me in was excellent. He offered advise on local places to go visit and even predicted the weather that day and was 100% accurate. Clean facilities made for an awesome stay. Not close to downtown (about 20 min ride) but worth the stay if you prefer a little more quiet. Local fishermen were bringing in the days catch making for interesting conversation.

This was an amazing winter adventure. The weather lined up nicely for us and we had very little wind and flurries if snow throughout the day.
Temps were low, but with guidance and gear it was not an issue.
Abby was an excellent guide with a wealth of information on the birds and nature we were seeing. The tide was also aligned such that we were able to explore a creek as well.
Lunch was provided and the soup and air fried burritos hit the spot!

My husband and I were visiting Alaska on our honeymoon and did the Best of Alaska tour (fishing, sightseeing, and glacier kayaking). It rained most of the day, but we had an wonderful time. Our guides, Mitch and Mary, were amazing and very helpful. Captain Paul and his hand Quin (not positive if I'm spelling correctly) were also a lot of fun. We saw lots of wildlife from orcas & seals to puffins. Everyone was able to limit out on fish as well. This tour had a little of everything for everyone to enjoy.

We stayed on the campground and I will be gracious and not give a review. This review is for my fishing charter with Capt Dustin and Quin. I had a great full day fishing with these two. All six of us on the boat limited out on all our targeted species plus lots of extra fish. These two know how and where to fish. I was at the resort the next 2 days and watched the boats come in each night. Dustin and Quin out-fished all the other Captains every night. I would request Dustin and Quin exclusively when coming to Millers Landing.

We booked millers landing for a 2 night kayak/camping tour of the northwestern fjord. It was perfect and the best thing we did on our entire trip to Alaska! The scenery, glaciers, and wildlife were absolutely incredible - we kayaked among otters, seals (so many!!), puffins, and other birds and encountered and orcas, humpbacks, and sea lions on our boat ride to/from the fjord. I highly recommend the northwestern fjord for less crowds (a majority of the time we didn’t see any other people), 2 nights to go leisurely and see the entire fjord, and to have Mitch as your guide for all the history of the area. Our guide Mitch was very communicative, planned a trip around what we were hoping to see, had everything ready for us when we arrived on the first day, and also made excellent camp meals. This was the best kayak camping I’ve done and really the best way to see any wildlife - pictures don’t do this wonderful place justice, but I tired. I highly recommend millers landing and Mitch as your guide for any of your adventures.

The view is incredible. The house needs maintenance help, though. The fridge worked the first couple days, but we ended up throwing food out this morning as it seemed to die overnight. The freezer never worked during our stay. The ice cube trays we filled were still water when we left. Had to turn on the smoke alarms. Bathroom fan didn’t work. The stovetop fan is broken, so stovetop-cooking made the cabin smoky. Oven didn’t work, so we used the grill which promptly ran out of propane. If you’re not planning to cook, and don’t mind some dust bunnies, this might be a good choice. A little maintenance could go a long way, but when we called the office they seemed unconcerned. I’d check on the status of things before booking. Or pack a cooler and ice!

Very nice facilities and employees. Before the trip we had several questions and they were available 24 hours and were very helpful. We used the RV spaces and you can not ask for better views from all spaces even the annex. The laundry and bathroom facilities were very clean also. We stayed there 4 nights and loved every day. We booked a full day halibut fishing charter and 3/4 day kayaking trip both of which had amazing guides. So friendly and nice. They generally cared about your visit. We will be back and we will be staying at millers landing again.

Our family did the Captain's Choice Kayaking adventure. We paddled around Holgate Glacier and had an incredible experience. We saw a humpback whale, lots of otters, seals, sea lions, bald eagles, puffins, and logs of other birds. The staff was wonderful right from the first time I called to ask questions and book the trip. Ron (aka Kelpie) and Lindsay were our guides. They were friendly and engaging with everyone on the trip, including our 12 and fifteen year old kids. They were also very knowledgeable about the glaciers and the ecosystem of the fjords. We got on the water taxi at 6 am and didn't get off until almost 9. We had fun the entire time. They even had enough snacks for hungry teenagers, hot coffee at the glacier, and hot soup under a rain shelter while we waited for the water taxi to pick us up. They made sure everyone was warm enough along the way. Captain Steve brought us back on the water taxi, and he made sure we had a chance to see sea lions up close. Every single person at Miller's Landing seems to be committed to providing guests with an amazing experience. This was definitely a highlight of our Alaska vacation. If you are looking for any kind of fishing or kayaking experience, definitely check out Miller's Landing!

I felt safe and in good hands the entire time as safety seemed to be his priority along with ensuring we were all having a good time and going at a pace that was comfortable for us.
I was pleased with the gear accommodations as well. Anything I did not have, they provided.

I have been taking trips down to Seward and staying at Millers Landing for 5 years now. I have tent camped, RV camped, and booked multiple cabins and beach front properties. I have taken a couple of their guided kayaking adventures, and my husband has gone with friends on their charters the past two years. This year we booked their Bridal Venue (technically we booked it last year) for our wedding ceremony. The whole experience was a dream...the rain not joining us until after the ceremony helped. We did have one minor issue, but once I addressed it, not only did the event coordinator handle it, but I was also contacted by both owners who personally ensured the matter was understood and taken care of. We love the location, the attentiveness of the captains and charter crew, the event coordination, and now have a new respect for the owners of this amazing get-away spot in Alaska. They are kind, gracious, and attentive. We will ALWAYS use Millers Landing for our Seward adventures!

Myself and my spouse, Bryan stayed at a vacation rental offered by the Miller's in November over the Thanksgiving holiday in Seward Alaska and honestly, I cannot say enough about how gracious the Miller's were, how beautiful the home itself was that we stayed in, how beautiful and breathtaking the views were no matter the time of day, the environment as a whole was just phenomenal and I just have to say that I cannot wait to go back, we both can't wait.
Thank you to the Miller's for sharing their slice of heaven on earth with us! It was much appreciated.

This place used to be amazing, but alot has changed. Used to get a lot of privacy and they took care of the place. Seems to me like they’re trying to grow, but can’t seem get the money right? They have projects all over, but yet the road on site is terrible. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to take my truck in even after going only 5mph. We’ve used to go here atleast 10 times yearly. I’m not sure when they bought the other side to the island, but they went downhill after that. Put cabin after cabin having no privacy, leaving the side roads on site just destroyed with pot holes. Going in 2023 giving us an outdated map and couldn’t find the cabin we were staying in because they moved it. I get it’s hard to find people, but do one thing at a time. I couldn’t even use the bathrooms with them have number two all over!! You guys have such a beautiful spot! Really hope it goes in the right direction!

We had the absolute BEST time staying at the little cabins then doing the full day kayaking tour with Rylee and Elora!! The guides were truly so incredible and made the experience one of the coolest things we have ever done. They were extremely knowledgeable and answered our million questions about the wildlife and fjords and initially made such an effort to get to know each and every one of us (which was great considering we spent 16 hours together!!) The trip was filled with nonstop adventure - so many animals and insane views, couldn’t recommend it enough!
The Alaska SeaLife Center is an aquarium located in Seward that offers exhibits on various Alaskan marine life such as harbor seals, king crabs, and Steller's sea lions. The center also conducts research studies and provides care for injured marine animals. Visitors can enjoy a hands-on touch tank and observe Giant Pacific Octopuses, salmon, and other sea creatures. Additionally, the outdoor platform provides a stunning view of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains.
Must see when stopping by Seward Alaska! All the employees are super friendly and very informative! It was really well laid out with a ton of Alaskan wildlife to see and learn about. My favorite was the outdoor bird area with puffins. The seals are so cute and very interactive! There is a pretty large touch tank area for all ages to enjoy the 50 degree water filled with starfish, urchins, hermit crabs and prawns!

A fun place to spend some time while in Seward. My son’s favorite part were the touch pools. They have a wide variety of small sea animals to interact with. It was fun. Seeing the seals and sea lions was entertaining , as well. It’s not a huge location and only took us about 30 minutes to get through. The staff was friendly and helpful. It’s worth checking out if you have some time to kill.

A fun and interesting place to visit while in Seward, AK especially if you are traveling with a group. Our group got a private class from an expert on lives of the various kinds of puffins living in the area. Puffins are so cute that everyone wants one and at the SeaLife Center you get a chance to get up front and personal with these amazing birds (don’t touch of course). Here is an excellent opportunity to get close to puffins for pictures and to observe their behaviors. Of course there are many other birds, mammals and fish to observe.

Looked around Anchorage. Went to Fairbanks' palmer. A lot fun and scary moments due to the wild life keeping me on my toes. Visiting alaska was on my bucket list of places to go. Had a great time at the Aquarium in Seward. The staff throughout was super attentive and polite, all the displays were well kept and the fish and sea life was amazing to see. The observation deck is a must, athough it was cloudy at the time it was still a great view. The gift shop was a little pricey but having visited the New England Aquarium and Mystic Aquarium the prices are just the same.

This place is worth every penny. We loved seeing and learning about all the Alaskan sea animals. The people working there has so much knowledge too.
We had no problems buying tickets in person but they are cheaper online. It is. Small place, we only stayed about 90 minutes. An entire day would be too long.
The “touch pool” and puffins were the highlight!

Loved our visit! Learned a lot about the amazing work that the SeaLife Center does with animals throughout Alaska and the country. My favorite thing was the aviary. Being in by puffins was so lovely! Seeing a Stellar Sea Lion up close really put their size into perspective. And the harbor seals were just so adorable!
Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy aquariums and conservation!

We absolutely love coming here, it's not huge, but my son loves it and the animals are adorable and look very well taken care of. They offer a resident & military discount, kids 2 and under are free!
2 levels of animals including a touch tank, and an outdoor viewing deck of Resurrection Bay and some birds. They have an elevator for easy access with wheelchairs & strollers.
We also really like their souvenir shop, lots of good choices, especially for kids and they have some neat Native Alaska pieces as well!

It was a nice visit but pretty average as small aquariums go. We would have liked to see more staff interaction with some of the exhibits or explaining in person more about the specific mammals especially. Outside exhibition viewing areas for the seals wtc were very small. The starfish petting area was really neat. Gift shop was well stocked and had some unique things. I guess being in AK with so much fish and sealife we expected a little more. Perhaps some movies? Some staff interaction with guests and definitely they need to have labels on each tank on the front below the glass with a photo of the fish so you know what you are looking at! Just a typed list of fish does nothing for the lay person. Some tanks had a rotating LED signboard listing the fish, but if a visitor was standing near it, none of the other 15 or so guests could see it. We felt the admission price is high for what you get. Additional fees are charged for other "experiences" which normally are a free with your admission to aquariums we have been to in the lower 48. We would not plan to visit again.

We visited here September. It's multi-level with many educational displays. Most of the operation is viewed from inside, so it's fine to visit on a rainy day.
The best experience for our visit was the wildlife response tour led by staff that took us behind the scenes - we learned about the rescue and development work that is a significant part of this operation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the SeaLife Center. A very good display of marine life. The staff were friendly and informative. All tanks were extremely clean and the animals healthy. It was fun watching the seals, sea lions, puffins, eels, octopus. We were there for over 2.5 hours and wished we could have stayed longer but we had to hit the road. We highly recommend a visit!
(Don't know why my phone camera turned the octopus purple. All the other animals in photos were their true colors.)

Was a decent amount to check out and learn. The staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable. I like how you could touch the starfish, and sea urchins were cool as they would squeeze your finger to sense you, very cool! Sea lion feeding would have been cool too see but I arrived just before so it was too crowded to get a good view despite being over 6 feet tall. Would be nice if they put some extra platforms so more people could see. Other than that it was a cool experience could see sea lions, and seals above and below the water on two floors. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in Seward.

If you're looking to launch your boat or watch some wildlife then the Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to visit.
The Seward Boat Harbor is a great place to launch a boat or even a kayak. The boat launch is located near the Kenai Fjords National Park Visitor Center on 4th Street and the kayak launch is located at the Northeast corner of the Seward Boat Harbor. Parking is a pain, so you will need some coins or a credit card to pay for time.
The Seward Boat Harbor is home to wildlife including sea otters. If the sun is bright you can see fry swimming in gigantic numbers below the catwalks. Occasionally a bald eagle will sit on a tall light pole looking for fish too.
The Seward Boat Harbor is a great resource, but the sad reality is the expansion many years ago removed a significant amount of beach. The beach was a great place to snag King Salmon. While the fishing near the Seward Boat Harbor isn't the same the expansion did modernize and expand the Seward Boat Harbor capacity.

Great tour of fox island and surrounding areas. Saw a bunch of whales and other animals. The included lunch of chicken or salmon was surprisingly good with salad and bread. Try to be the first off the boat at fox island but the line for the Buffett wasn’t too bad. The poor staff had their hands full with kids whose parents couldn’t be bothered to control them. They also got us back in a few minutes late because they were so determined to get us one really good last look at a whale, which was appreciated. Wish there was more outside seating. The cutest stop near Girdwood / Anchorage! This place is family owned and the owners enjoy what they do, and they love sharing the history! They were very kind and helpful with our children as they paned for gold. I love the little trucks and diggers around for our little ones to play while their older siblings look for gold. Wonderful fun for children. Our 3 year old soon lost interest in gold panning but was enthralled with the ducks & chickens. The 1 yr old happily loaded Tonka dump trucks with rocks the entire time. The 9 yr old seriously panned for & found gold flakes & made a copper necklace that she is proudly wearing. Entire family enjoyed our visit.

We had a great time despite the rain. The family that runs the place is very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us a great lesson on gold panning. It costs a dollar per person to enter and then you have to purchase a bucket of dirt to pan through. The buckets range in size and cost $20, $50 and $100. My son and I bought a $50 bucket and found at least a dozen good size flakes of gold and a lot of gold dust. They also have a really neat gift shop with some unique items and lots of ducks and turkeys roaming around.

Cool little family owned business. You can pan for gold here but the material comes from a lode mine elsewhere. The dirt comes in plastic jugs in $10, $20 or $100 size. Once your purchase the jug, one of the workers will take you to a tub of water and teach you how to pan. You are guaranteed to get some gold from your dirt, but no guarentee on how much.
There are also a gaggle of turkeys, ducks and chickens on the property. They were penned up when we got their but the owner let them out when we were done panning. All the birds were friendly as can be and the turkeys even used one of us as a pole to chase the other turkey around.
There is a gift shop where you can buy a pan, gold items, moose antlers for your dog to chew on and more. All (three) of the workers we encountered were genuinely nice people and were friendly and fun to engage with.

Had an amazing experience here panning for gold from soil and got to take home what we found. The deal is shockingly good. Would strongly recommend.
The instructor is a very sweet lady who does a really good job teaching you how to exactly pan for the gold and also teaches some history about when people came to Alaska during the gold rush. You will definitely get gold because they teach you with soil that already has a decent amount of gold.
They also have a lot antiques at the store that you can checkout.
You can also get farm fresh eggs and there is lodging nearby which is cheaper to book by calling them than through AirBnb.

Definitely check out the delicious and decedent homemade fudge. They orange dreamsicle reminds of my favorite childhood Popsicles. Must stop while in Moose Pass, Ak

What a great place to visit! The owners are incredibly friendly, and the fudge is amazing. We tried 5 different squares and they were all fantastic. They make this creamy fudge fresh each day. "Drop in" and treat yourself to some of their delicious treats!

Delicious fudge. Awesome little gift shop. Bought a bear blanket and a variety of fudges, even though I just stopped in for coffee. The owners (husband and wife) are fantastic, friendly people. Best place to stop in for whatever you might need. Lots of handcrafted little goodies.

Try the moose nuts! We tried all 3, but pecan was our favorite!. Great stop between Seward and Anchorage. The talking moose is a hoot and the owners are great!

This place is FANTASTIC!!! My quest was to find the best fudge in Alaska....quest over!!! Go straight to Moose Drop-In Trading Post in Moose Pass and stock up on their fudge....I started with the milk chocolate and walnut....and braved the habanero fudge....incredible!!! And the owners were friendly and enjoyed sharing their love of their town and beautiful state. A great pit stop for a lovely drive.

The type of fudge that's so good it's disgusting. We stopped here on way out to Seward and on our way back because we couldn't get enough. Lot of crazy flavors too.

Great people and great fudge. Also a wide variety of souvenirs to choose from.
What a BLAST! Our family of 11 split up, 5 went on the float trip with our 9 yr old granddaughter (they had a great afternoon floating downriver spotting an eagle & a bear) and 6 of us went on the whitewater with our 13 yr old grandson-this was on the top of his list of things he wanted to do in Alaska. Other reviews have done a great job explaining the swim test-yes it is intense & the water is COLD (wear warm layers)- but if you're in good shape and you know how to swim you'll be fine. I'm turning 60 in a few days and it was challenging but doable. When they tell you to swim, just swim HARD until you make it to the raft. I definitely felt that safety was taken very seriously and appreciated knowing what to expect if any of us dumped out of the raft. Our grandson 'picked' our guide James for the whitewater and he was awesome! So knowledgeable, super calm, really friendly - he told us how to paddle & when, we did what he said and we all managed to stay in the boat! 4 of the group were having so much fun they went on to finish the 3rd canyon with James while I got off with my grandson after the 2nd canyon (you need to be 15 to do the 3rd canyon). This was the #1 thing my grandson wanted to do in Alaska and it was so much fun-thank you James & Chugach Outdoor Center!!

We had a wonderful time on whitewater. All guides were amazing and experienced.
We did all 3 canyons… but you are free to change your mind at the end of the second canyon.
They have a photographer so you can buy all the photos on a flash disk after.

Loved my first white water rafting trip, looking forward to coming back here again! The staff and guide were very knowledgeable and well trained. The 3 canyon experience was amazing and the advice was so good no one fell in during the trip!

What a great crew of people that make going down the Six Mile one awesome adventure! I highly recommend these guys. The guides are awesome, the photographer takes awesome pictures and the fleece skits are sooo cute (you can buy them at the lodge). If you head this way I suggest making a weekend of it and spending the night in Hope afterwards! (A day trip is totally possible though for those short on time.)

My wife Jen, daughter Lexi and I did the 6 Mile Creek on Thursday August 14, 2019. We own our raft, live in Alaska and are making it our mission to raft all the "big water" we can. 6 Mile in Hope, Alaska is one of the top 5 whitewater experiences in the country. All of us Alaskan rafters stand in awe of it's magnificent power - and realize how important it is to have the experts take us through it. Chugach Outdoor Center has those experts! All the guides are first rate and experienced in white water all over the US. And they know how to have fun AND to keep us safe! Our guide Neil took us down all 3 canyons - Class 3, 4 and finally 5 - perfectly! Technical expertise to say the least!! This was by far the best rafting adventure we've had to date. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Alaska. . . . and also to those of us who live here in the Greatland!

Great guide and service but be forewarned. If ANY of your group has ANY hesitation to go on this trip and does not want to go on it after the test swim, you will not get any money back. So Im out $200 after my daughter swam and decided it was not her day to raft. Its called Opting out apparently. So DO NOT swim unless your SURE. Maybe if she failed the swimming test she would have got a refund? Wish I knew beforehand.

What a phenomenal trip! Our guide, James, was highly experienced, knowledgeable, and fun! They prepped us well with a pre-rafting offensive swim-defensive float-offensive swim exercise, which was smart given the rapids we were about to get into. The class IVs and Vs were out of this world, but I would recommend that if you haven't been rafting before in IIIs etc that you don't start with this trip.
Use this team/company - their guides and safety precautions are exceptional and exactly what you want for such an adventure!

Wow! What an experience! A group of us tackled the 3 canyon option and we were not disappointed! The scenery is incredible... When you're not madly paddling to keep your raft facing the right direction. The guides are a) hilarious and b) super knowledgeable. I received probably the most comprehensive (and entertaining!) Safety brief I've ever had and I'm glad I listened as I needed to use all of it at least once. By the end of my trip, my face ached from grinning the entire time. Some of the rapids are not for the feint of heart, but the instruction you receive, and the direction you are given from the guide, means you are happy to tackle the white water head on- and the buzz you feel afterward is amazing!
Alaska ATV Adventures is a tour operator that offers guided four-wheel trips to explore the stunning scenery of Alaska. The tours can vary in length, depending on what you want to see or do. Bob is an amazing tour guide who patiently explains everything to guests and takes amazing pictures and videos with his telescope and camera. Guests are recommended to tip him generously for his excellent services!
What a fun exhilarating experience! Be prepared to venture into the wilderness trekking over a rocky terrain filled with snow, ice chunks, bodies of water and more. Bob, our experienced guide (who also doubles as a caring photographer and will literally position you and your group in the exact positions to capture the most amazing backdrop for your photos), leads you through the backroads with enough passion to create an experience you won’t forget very soon. The fun doesn’t stop with the ATVs, you hike down a mountain and along the way, you will experience the most beautiful views your eyes have ever seen, all culminating in a body of water with glaciers and a waterfall. Truly spectacular!!

Five stars somehow does not even do justice to the adventure that awaits in this northernmost temperate rainforest. The thrill of the throttle through Chugach Mountain Range's winding wooded trails is second to none.
I had the pleasure of sharing this adventure with my wife & 16 and 18-year-old kids, and it was the highlight of our Alaskan escapade. Special shoutout to Kris, our amazing, kind, helpful and knowledgeable guide. Oh, and let's not forget Chris's daughter, who turned out to be a wildlife spotter extraordinaire! We even saw a bear across the valley – at a safe distance, of course.
In summary, True Alaskan backcountry riding is a must-do in the Last Frontier. It's wild, it's breathtaking, and it's an experience you'll cherish forever. Don't miss it! 🏞️🐻🏍️🌲

The ride through the mountain was the best part about my week long trip. I am a novice when it comes to ATVs but the guide, Bob, made the lesson real easy for all to grasp. Bob knows his stuff about the wildlife and how to get the customers to laugh. Highly recommend doing this tour if you are in the area and have the time. Well worth the money.
Suggestions:
-Wear medium or tall waterproof boots.
-Bring extra shoes and maybe pants for afterwards.
-Bring a pair of binoculars or a compact telescope in order to view far away wildlife.
Enjoy the ride!

Wow, what fun this was. Bob was an amazing tour guide. He took great pictures of us at a couple spots. We rode a large loop and then hiked down to the falls. The wheelers were very comfy. I rode on the back of my husband to take pictures and it was so nice. The hike down was not too hard, and coming back up was harder. We stopped to look for wildlife. Saw goats and bear tracks.

Bob and Jake (from State Farm) took special care to get photos and videos of us that are going to be special reminders of this trip forever.

The Girdwood ATV excursion with Bob was one of our groups favorite activities during our Alaska vacation. Bob was able to accommodate a wide variety of skill levels in our group, and is an experienced and knowledge guide. A luxury resort hotel in Anchorage, Alaska, Alyeska features Native influences, natural beauty, and modern touches. It has access to the 60-passenger aerial tram and the spa. The ski area is also very popular with excellent facilities and sensational scenery.
Such a great time skiing here. Didn’t stay at the resort but stayed close by and got lift tickets each day so we made it up to the restaurants on the tram, definitely do that on a clear day we had so much fun. I appreciated the green slopes, they were just the right mix of easy but intimidating. Best skiing I’ve done so far, I hope to be back next year!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
Way overpriced!! Not remotely close to a 5 star resort at all!! The location is gorgeous, I hear the spa is fantastic… if you can even get an appointment. The discounts for being an overnight guest aren’t very good, especially considering that non overnight guests get to use the same facilities as guests do.
The lobby is lovely but the rooms are motel 6 quality. Staff isn’t friendly or informative. Zero signage to let you know where things like restaurants, gift stores, parking, or shuttle pickup is located. If you’re handicapped the amount of stairs to get to the pool and other amenities wouldn’t be wheelchair accessible and neither is the pool itself. Parking and hauling your own luggage and ski gear 1/4 of a mile away from the hotel isn’t a great way to start your experience. Valet/ bell hop assistance was non existent.
Go for the day, enjoy the scenery, enjoy the VERY few amenities you can, but stay overnight in Anchorage at a FAR better hotel for WAY less money that has better choices of restaurants and watering holes.
For $500 a night you could have a better hotel, better restaurants and bars, nicer staff, better shopping options and still enjoy the pool, hot tub, spa, gym, arial tram, and skiing at the resort. I’m not terribly surprised, as it’s typical of Canadian owned resorts to be unfriendly and overpriced.

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my daughter. The room was very clean, with a gorgeous view! The beds were great, but I wish I could have cooled the room just a bit. I did, however, very much appreciate the fan provided. Robes in room for pool reservations is a nice touch. Riding the tram to the top was gorgeous and not as scary as I expected. Once at the top, we had a lovely view, but lines were way too long to get a drink or food. We visited the spa for a day, and that was exceptional. The room service was mediocre, ordered spicy chicken but without knowing it was missing all the toppings and tasted like fish, that was a waste. However, Bessy at the front desk made it right and did not make me feel bad for mentioning it. The walk from the resort to the Sitzmark was beautiful and highly recommended if one mile isn't too far for you. Overall, it was a great experience and I will hold these memories for life.

I went here for skiing this past winter, and while I usually only go for a day trip I decided to stay at the resort this time for a week. I must say what a beautiful location and thrill it was to be there. The rooms are definitely not new but worked for me just fine. I recently came back this summer to hike some of the trails near that area for the first time. It's all stunningly beautiful but that parking lot still annoyed me as its badly designed.

Alyeska Resort, is a wonderful place to stay in the summer. I highly recommend the gondola, the views are incredible and at the top, there is great place to have a soda, or drink! If you prefer... you can hike to the top, which I am told is about a two and a half hour climbing trek. Everyone was so nice. I cannot imagine how much fun this ski resort is in the winter!! Great for all ages!!

Great place to stay and scenic location. The drive from Anchorage to the resort is such a pleasant surprise as it is beautiful all around. No northern lights like their website boasts as if the probability is high. Beds are comfortable. Restaurants could use some help though - food is average.

As an AK resident it's still a treat to visit the resort. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating allowing us an early check in/late check out. The beds are comfy and the bathroom/room was extremely clean. The salt water pool is great temp and of they provide plenty of towels and of course comfy robes. We will definitely be back soon!! I do wish they would still offer residential rates for us locals :)

The best pool I've been in. Nice and warm, the salt water is so relaxing. Then to the hot tub for the awesome views of skaters and skiers while soaking in the steamy waters!
The restaurant was very clean and so peaceful for breakfast, sitting there enjoying our coffee and watching the sun come over the mountain. The breakfast was well prepared and we opted for the buffet. We were very happy with the price and quality of the offerings. The resort was warm and welcoming and the staff was so helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean and everything functioned properly. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and romantic and we would be very happy to return.

The room was nice, service good, however the food for someone who needs gluten-free options SUCKS! To have about 6 items (3 from in room food with a 20% mark up) that I can eat for a high end resort isn't acceptable to me. The salad I ordered with halibut on it was super small my guess maybe 2 at most 3 oz. My son and husband enjoyed the food. The brussle sprout salad was really good. There was no fries or chips and salsa is also disappointing. We did overall enjoy the overall vibe, but didn't like the limited food options.
Food update: this is what I got for my gluten free pizza, it doesn't even have pepperoni on it like the menu says. Hardly any sauce.

We did not stay at the hotel. Day trip to the new Nordic Spa! Absolutely Fabulous! Well layed out and the scenery was great. We had a great time in the hot tubs and saunas. Getting out of the hot water and into the cold water pools was is invigorating! The staff we are friendly and professional. We will definitely be coming back!!

This resort is overpriced for how run-down the rooms are. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls, half the outlets didn't work, and the walls are paper thin. The main parking lot is so small, and the overflow lot is quite the walk to the hotel. The employees are great and friendly. It's convenient if you are spending several days on the mountain, but I will just stay in Anchorage next time.

This is a beautiful lodge in a wonderful location. The rooms are ample, but a bit dated. They are clean and the rooms have tubs/showers. The tram is located at this location. The hotel restaurant very nice but the menu is limited. The bar/grill and snack bar have limited hours. The gift shop is one of the best I've seen. This is a good location for all seasons including winter. The rooms include benches with storage for ski boots just outside the room.

Absolutely disappointed in the quality and presentation of this "resort". The rooms have peeling walls, stained carpets, carpets coming up in places, a horrendous smell to the linens and nicotine stained walls. The television in our room was manufactured in the late 90s and was so grainy you couldn't even watch it. The bathroom walls were beyond disgusting! Every amenity they list was either unavailable or booked solid. We stayed in our room 45 minutes out of a 5 day booked stay! We both decided it was worth the loss to just leave and find something more suited to our stay-cation needs. This is NOT what I would call a "resort". The surrounding beauty of the mountains is amazing but the hotel itself is failing dramatically. I would not stay here again, I would not recommend the "resort" to anyone to be honest. We were so excited to stay there and so disappointed to have to leave within minutes of checking in. Save your money and the disappointment find something better, it's not what you would expect and the images they use to advertise are grossly misleading.

My husband and I flew from Florida to Alaska for this resort for our one year anniversary. Long story short, no employees except Kevin (who was great and talked with us while he brought our luggage up) even cared about telling us about the resort or answering our questions.
The front desk couldn't tell us where to get breakfast or even care to try. We had no idea about anything.
[Cut to] trying to get ski lessons: we walked aimlessly around the mountain and asked about 5 different employees about taking ski lessons (the resort has a school) and again, no one could tell us anything. Was offered a phone number for the mountain manager, Mr Donaldson, left a message, and never heard anything. We had money to spend and it seemed like we couldn't find anyone who wanted our business!
It was so disappointing that we checked out 2 days early and flew back home to Florida.
My husband left his Bose headphones there and I had to make 3 phone calls and speak to the reservation manager before the headphones were "found" by housekeeping and security. I'm not saying anyone was stealing, but I feel like no one tried to find our $300 headphones.
Michael the reservation manager (I think that's his name?) And Kevin at the front deserve shout outs because they truly went above and beyond but seriously STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL AND ITS OLD ROOMS until they can get their staff PROPERLY TRAINED
I waited to post this because I was told I would get a survey from the hotel and I was going to put this info there but I never got it so I thought I'd warn others to be weary of this place...

What a shame. Such a beautiful location and this hotel has seen better days and probably better management. The rooms are outdated as others have pointed out. They don’t have a list of activities on property. You just have to wander around to figure it out. They nickel and dime for everything. $27 a day to valet a car and force people to park in a remote lot and drag luggage uphill through snow and ice? There are no outside food delivery services available so you’re stuck eating their food that is mediocre at best and severely overpriced. $4 for a Pepsi? $8 for a Corona? Disappointing experience. They need to fire their IT people as the Internet was ridiculously slow throughout the property. The staff was frustrated because a simple credit card charge took 2 minutes. The amount of computer keystrokes and processes to perform simple tasks is unbelievable. I feel sorry for the staff because they really try but have inadequate resources to perform their job. This place needs some love.

One of my favorite ski areas in the world. Christmas chute and others are completely unparalleled for x factor accessible right off the top of the lift. It honestly beats Big Sky and Alta in that regard. The downside to this resort is it takes absolutely ages for patrol to open terrain, sometimes never. Other resorts have similar avalanche hazard and open terrain far sooner after a storm. Is it just a lack of patrol? No clue.

I was raised in Alaska and have experienced staying at Alyeska resort plenty of times since childhood. This weekend was my first time (as an adult) paying to stay at the resort I was disappointed at the state of the room. Furniture and interior have been the same since the 90s or even later. The desk chair in our room had so many stains and the sitting chair felt dirty (like it needed to be steam cleaned or thrown away really) The other furniture had so many scratches. The phone looked like it hadn’t been dusted in a while. The wallpaper and lamps are a very unfortunate cream color that has probably been there since the beginning of time. If they allowed smoking in these rooms I’m sure it would look and smell like it was straight from the 70s. The bathroom was clean at least. Staff was nice and for the most part accommodating. Pool was clean and relaxing. I didn’t get much sleep though because I wasn’t able to change the temperature in the room so I was hot and extremely uncomfortable the whole night. It needs some TLC for sure especially for the price you’re paying.

Didn't stay here, just drove up from Palmer to visit. Very pretty area and gorgeous place. Very quiet. I can only imagine what it looks like during the ski season. One reason we came here was for the bakery near by, but it was closed 😢 heard great things about it. Maybe next time.

I have stayed at Alyeska a few times now. Always for special occasions.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, but don't stand out much from your standard hotel space. The main "selling point" being the location, and your room might have a good view out the window.
The staff and service is always top notch.
Good opportunity for skiing/snowboarding, local hiking trails, and the Nordic Spa with Hydrotherapy. Food is great, but can be a bit limited depending on your schedule.

Good infrastructure. Great spaces. But this cannot be considered a luxury property. Beat up paint. Waves in the carpet. Lights not working. Mismatched furniture. Just needs a lot of cosmetic work to justify the price. The spa is much newer and nice.

Stunning resort set in beautiful surroundings.
Room was modern, I assume renovated fairly recently. Usual fixtures (coffee machine, fridge, tv, bathrobes etc...)
Hotel had lots of common areas that I imagine during high season can be busy but during our stay (Early Sept) we felt like we had the place to ourselves. There are a range of food options for all budgets, and a couple of shops.
Area is great for leisurely walks, or up the mountain which I didn't dare but saw lots brave it.
We didn't visit the spa, or the pool so cannot speak to those.

I recently visited the hydrotherapy at the spa. It was a beautiful winter escape with the snow-capped trees and saunas. The lockers contain a robe, slippers, and towel with exfoliating scrub. The staff is very professional and was helpful with instructions upon arrival and recommendations for making the most of the day. The locker rooms were clean and well equipped with showers, toilets, a vanity area with provided hair dryers, curling, flat irons, and make remover with cotton pads. There are water bottle filling stations conveniently located throughout, and you should definitely plan to tote one around. Additionally, there is a warm tea and fruit infused cold water station at the entrance to pools. The showers did get a little dirty towards the end of the day, but the provided slippers gave peace of mind. The cafe was perfectly situated for a mid day break and snack to rehydrate and refuel. A good variety of fresh, delicious food and mocktails and cocktails or warm beverages. I would highly recommend the full day package to fully experience the hydrotherapy and have time to revisit your favorites. The crowding was minimal during the daytime and picked up around dinner time, likely due to the discounted twilight option. I would highly recommend the experience and plan to return.

I was fortunate to stay here Monday to Friday and it was incredible. The rooms were beautiful, service was top notch and plenty of amenities but what put it over the top was all those things in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Surrounded completely by the mountains at the lodge, a quick 10 minute ride up the tram has you towering above them. If this place isn't on your bucket list, add it immediately. I was also lucky enough to preview the Black Diamond Lounge on the 8th floor while I was there and it is amazing. Once it opens, getting people to leave and enjoy the rest of the resort might be impossible.

Wonderful stay at Alyeska resort. This mountain is a little low in elevation and as such, the lower third of the mountain often receives rain and the snow is sometimes heavy. The pool area is great. The outer skiing areas are excellent but unfortunately they are often closed. If you're there for a ski trip, I would recommend looking into a heli day to get to some great snow.

We enjoyed our two nights at the Alyeska. We don’t ski but enjoyed the views and property. Booked in the refurbished section and it was very well done so I highly recommend that based on what others say about non-renovated rooms. As noted by others, the inside is a bit tired and in need of some refurb, but with the amount of ski traffic going in and out it actually seems decent. Restaurants seem to have odd hours so we walked over to the Sitzmark both nights. One major flaw that needs to be fixed - that there is only one place to get coffee in the morning is a travesty for a ski resort. Especially when there are no coffee supplies in the rooms. Honestly a free filter coffee station would be amazing with basic creams and sugars. Those that want special coffees can go to the shop, with hopefully added employees other than the one lady powering through all the orders that included food. The wait for some was over 30 minutes. Overall service was very good. Would definitely stay again.

Goldilocks approved. So much right about this resort. The 8th floor has been redone recently and has a great vibe. Comfy bed, great views. Not too posh and not too rustic. Spa is great- and the spa restaurant might be the best place to dine on the property. Skiing was incredible and this is as ski in and ski out as they come. Nice rental shop, free ski concierge.

Alyeska skiing can be hit or miss. It’s great when it’s blower pow or bluebird skiing with ripping groomers. As a lifelong Alaskan who has moved south, I can say it’s a pretty awesome place when the skiing is perfect and it’s pretty miss when it’s not: as in raining top to bottom and closed upper mountain. The views are a five. The mountain amenities are a four. The food and beverage scene can be better. Price points are pretty high. I haven’t stayed at the hotel in a while but, they can afford to do some updating to the rooms that have been the same since I was 13 years old. The Nordic spa is what is really a game changer for the place. Overall; it is a must see/do when visiting Alaska. The North face is some of the most fun and technical skiing you will do in a resort. The people are just as funky as the Sitzmark. It’s definitely got something for everyone. And if you know you know; See Big Wave Dave for A Fizz- only at the tram house.

I've skied Alyeska for 60 years and I've seen many changes, upgrades, problems, etc,,,
It is an absolutely beautiful area with great views.
Renovations are ongoing right now to rooms and a new restaurant. We lucked out and stayed 3 days in a newly updated room. Very nice although a microwave is needed to reheat resort restaurant food.
My wife and I experienced nothing but excellent, friendly, and energetic service from all staff members every day.
I did sense a sort of disconnect between hotel operation staff members as if they were all not exactly on the same page. Experience tells me there IS a management problem. I trust they'll get it figured out.
It is truly a wonderful place with great potential 👍

Leaving 4 stars because I felt like the rooms themselves and dining options left some to be desired for the price of the stay. The rooms and some parts of the lodge felt quite dated and there is a small cafe but other breakfast options were quite pricey.
That being said, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the ski in ski out experience was top notch, and we loved relaxing in the mountain-view hot tub after riding.

The center is located close to Anchorage and is known for its encounters with native animals that have been rescued. The refuge also has a zoo, where visitors can see animals from all over the world.
Wasn’t in the plan but stopped in anyway. Was very cool experience. Unlike zoos, you can tell the animals are happy. Very active. You can drive or walk the property. We walked and enjoyed it. Be sure to stop to see the brown bears a few times, they were playful and very active, doing something different each time we went.

Such a great place I went on a van tour. You can drive yourself and even walk through. If you drive through there are plenty of turnouts to pull over into and park so you can walk around to see the animals in that area. The animals look well cared for in the sanctuary. I saw so many beautiful animals it was lightly raining and was in the afternoon so some animals were under the cover of the open sheds. But just to see them at all is so wonderful. The restrooms were clean, the gift shop staff was super helpful. They had food options outside. I wish I had a little longer to look around but being on a tour you have only so long to look around. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Anchorage.

We enjoyed our visit to the farm. You can walk around if you have the time and the weather is nice (probably my preference), but you can drive around to the different pens to view the animals. It was great to see some animals you may not get the chance to see in the wild. The porcupine was super cute. They have a gift store and you can buy coffee and hot chocolates and small food items. It was a lot of fun and great for kids. Highly recommend.

My husband and I visited the conservatory as part of a tour during a visit to Alaska for our honeymoon, and I wish we had more time to spend there. It is such a lovely place. The animals have plenty of room to roam and seem content. We saw a bear trudge over to the pond and lay back, paws in the air, just chillin in the water. Besides the animals, this is a great place to take some landscape photos. It is surrounded by mountains. There are musk ox, bison, wolves, caribou, deer, eagles, bear, and moose. They also have a really nice gift shop. I didn't buy anything, but I wanted to!

We had the opportunity to visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center during our trip to Alaska, and it was truly a remarkable experience.
We have always loved observing wildlife animals as it allows us to witness the beauty of nature firsthand, seeing these living creatures in their natural habitat. Each species possesses its own unique charm and beauty.
When we encounter animals, it made us wonder how nature has crafted such magnificent creatures. At the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, we had the chance to see a diverse range of animals that are native to the state of Alaska. The center conducts research and employs sustainable practices to care for these animals, while also providing an opportunity for visitors to appreciate their beauty and learn about coexisting with them, thus aiding in their conservation efforts to prevent extinction.
If you find yourself in Alaska, we highly recommend visiting this place. You'll undoubtedly develop a deep affection for these animals, just as we did.

Can't say enough great things about this place except for WOW. Set amongst the beautiful mountains and valleys, this is a must do experience if you're looking to see wildlife near Anchorage. I took a tour from Anchorage and was amazed from the minute we got here. Seeing these animals enjoy themselves in their natural habitat was so memorable and enjoyable.
If you're interested in going, I do recommend going with a tour group, or making sure that you download maps to be viewed offline as there's little GPS in the area. Personally, I enjoyed not having cellular service during my time here but just a tip to others considering coming here.
Definitely allocate enough time here, while our tour drove through, I would recommend walking to each and spending more time enjoying the beautiful outdoors and beautiful wildlife.

A very good place to watch Alaska wildlife in case you are in hurry or have missed it in the wild. The center is spread out and huge with local Alaksan wildlife kept in big lots. The animals ans birds are looked after really well and and the habitat is done in a way to reflect the wild. Highly recommended.
There are educational centers and a gift shop

The open atmosphere provides a pleasant walk amongst the fenced animals. You can also remain in your car and drive around if you desire. You are able to get very close when the animals allow it. The large animals appear to have large spaces to graze.

We loved visiting this place. Having an experience with the Alaska Wildlife with a natural habitat and the beautiful scenery all around was really wonderful. My 4 year old had a great time watching the animals that close.

A great place to see the wildlife up close. It's very peaceful to watch the bears playing and there was a lot of space to enjoy viewing the animals. You can drive around the loop and get out here and there is walk the entire loop. We opted for walking because the potholes were pretty bad and we preferred to get out and enjoy the sunshine!
The gift shop was nice and had a good assortment of Arts and crafts, jewelry, etc...

This place was so cool!! You can drive around to each animals area/natural habitat. There's fences to protect the animals from people, but you can see straight through. It was amazing, their sense of humor is great, as noted by the social distancing signs. The facilities were clean and all animals looked super healthy! Gift shop was unique and featured local artists.

Absolutely an amazing spot to see a lot of Alaskan species. Wood Bison, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Lynx, Porcupine, Grizzly Beat, Wolves, and Black Bears are all here and are treated well. We went here on a tour and loved it so much that we went back after a few days to make some donations and to see some more of the animals. They have a very nice gift shop as well. Some of the handcrafted knives were incredible!

My time at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center was pure magic, man! It's all about love and positive vibes, connecting with nature and cool creatures. The center's dedication to conservation warmed my heart, creating a peaceful haven for these beautiful beings. From majestic bears to playful otters, soaring eagles to graceful moose, each creature radiated its own energy. It deepened my appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life. If you want to experience the wonders of nature and spread love, visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. It's a groovy journey of compassion and harmony with our furry and feathery friends. Peace and love, man!

Awesome trip. Highly recommend if traveling towards Whittier from Anchorage. Cool to see the big animals up close and personal, I’m glad they have the drive through option as we were traveling with a family member with mobility issues. Even she had the best time seeing all the animals!

Absolutely a must! I have been waiting since I moved here to check this place out! All the animals were out. Even the highly anticipated brown bear! The most breath taking views. Very nice that there is a drive option but it’s not too big to walk even with 5 kids! Weren’t bored for a single second! Definitely come!

Must stop for animal lovers! Beautiful drive here from Anchorage, great and helpful staff, cute gift shop, and beautiful scenery while seeing some amazing animals. They're so close to you, it's incredible to see. There's not a ton of different animals like a zoo, but if you love animals, respect nature, and appreciate all of the work that goes into caring for animals like these then you'll love this place! My friend and I went around twice, you can drive or walk, we drove because it was very cold. So glad we went around twice because then we got to see the bears being fed!

Obsessed with this place! One of my favorite experiences on my winter trip to Alaska. There were a handful of animals we didn't see, but it was absolutely still worth it. Make sure you visit the porcupines at the end of the loop! They're the cutest!!!

Very nice conservation center with spacious enclosures for the animals. We truly enjoyed our time there. You have the opportunity to ride or drive to see the animals. We drove through first and then walked. Spent over 3 hours here and could have stayed longer but had to start our drive to Homer. We were there at the right time to hear a concert of howling by the wolves. We loved seeing that all the animals were well cared for. Staff were helpful and informative.

Super cool experience, you have the option to either drive or walk. The moose exhibit was one of my favorites because they love attention and people so they usually come to say hi.
I really expected more from the fox, wolves and bear exhibit however was not able to see them as they were sleeping.
Maybe better to go during summer time so the animals are not hiding trying to stay warm? Not sure.
Very muddy and gross to walk, lots of puddles, we ended up driving.

Super cool experience, we went in some light rain and still had such a good time. Drive through it all, park and get out to get closer to the fences. Gift shop has good hot chocolate !!

Nice area, really appreciated the fact that you can drive as well as walk around. The wolves are huge I thought I was in the Game of Thrones. The pictures don't do the animals justice you just need to see them for yourselves.

Definitely come see these beauties of nature. Some come right up to the fences and to be that close to these creatures is amazing. Staff were the friendliest and so kind. The ability to either drive through the facility or walk it is a nice option. We walked the whole facility and just the surrounding views were spectacular!!

If you want a guaranteed way of seeing Alaskan wildlife this is the place to come. They have wolves, brown bears, black bear, moose, caribou, reindeer, foxes, coyotes, porcupines, and about every kind of wild animal in Alaska. Plus the proceeds go to the animals there, and the ones they try to help. Definitely worth the time and drive going!!! You'll be glade you went!!!

I recently visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience! From the majestic moose to the captivating wolves and awe-inspiring bears, every moment felt like a journey into the heart of Alaska's wilderness. The highlight was definitely spotting a bald eagle resting on a tree above the wolves. The center's dedication to wildlife preservation is commendable, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly immersive encounter with Alaska's natural wonders. Five stars without a doubt! (Only slight sadness for the moose in the small fenced-in area)

This is a super neat place, less than an hour from Anchorage. If you want to see some wild animals up close, this is a great place to do it. There is a beautiful backdrop with the mountains too.

There is a good variety of local wildlife represented. You can walk or drive the trail around the area. The summer tourist season will be busier. There is a playground area behind the gift shop. And there are benches and tables at the bear boardwalk. One thing you want to be aware of is the roads will test your vehicle's shocks.
If you're looking for an authentic Alaskan camping experience, be sure to check out Williwaw Campground in Portage Valley. With plenty of campsites and space between them, you'll never feel crowded in this stunning natural environment.
This campground typically requires reservations. It is a highly sought-after location. This small campground is quiet and has reasonably size camp sites. Their is a small creek running along the campground that can attract bears when the salmon are running. You can see glaciers in the surrounding mountains from the campground.

It's one of the best forrest service campgrounds we visited. Very well cared for by the camp hosts. Wonderful, easy hikes. Great walk to the visitor center from the campground.

Great forest campground. Paved sites, plenty of space between sites. No reservation was needed June 14th 2022, plenty of open sites, maybe 25% full. Vault toilets, but nearly filled to the brim. Nice walking path connected to c.g. no shortage of bears on the trails, bring spray. Mosquitos tolerably but present. No showers but hand pump water station. $18.00

What a beautiful campground! The mountains, glaciers, and woods surrounding the campsite are stunning. Each campsite is far enough from others and isolated by trees to be quiet. There are bathrooms scattered around the campgrounds so that you're never too far away from one. Water available from a hand pump. No showers. In the right season, you can also watch the salmon run here (we were a bit early in mid-July). We loved our stay! While we reserved our stay online, when we arrived around 11 pm on a Sunday night, there were several first-come-first-serve campsites still available.

First come first serve campground. Good one. Very close to Whittier tunnel. Fish viewing from walkable distance from campground. You can see glacier from campground. Firewoods available for campfire. Make sure to bring cash. No card payment.

2018/09/29 - Camped overnight, no host, campground half full at 2:30 PM, and campsites 40-59 closed for season. Weather: afternoon sunny, clear skies at night, and fog in the morning. No fee, No trash.
A nice campground between the Seward Highway and Whittier.
The Portage Valley can get plenty of rain and wind, so come prepared. The Portage Glacier is one of many in this area, so bring the binoculars.
On a sunny day a kayak float down the Portage Creek is a lot of fun. There are many trails in the area including the Trail of Blue Ice.
The campsites are deep, so large RVs will do well here. There is no electric or water here. During off season times the camp is unmanaged, but you can stay for free. No trash collection while unmanaged, so pack out what you pack in.

Big government RV campground with lots of back-in or pull thru sites big enough for large rigs. Clean and well managed. The only problem was we didn't have changes for the $18 per night camp fee. We put in two 20 bills for 2 nights and move on. The campground is just next to the trail of blue ice. People can walk to the visitor center without driving.

Its a campground. We drove around and found a spot. Cooked dinner then decided we didn't want to stay there. There was no good view. Not sure why you would pay $ to stay somewhere without a view. Especially when in a fully self sufficient RV.
Went down the road a little ways and found a much better spot with a great view.
Had a picnic table and fire pit.

surrounded by mountains, glaciers, and forest. There are trails for biking or walking, nice campsites...love it here. CLOSE to Whittier, the visitor center, not far from Girdwood, or the Wildlife conservation center
