Heyburn State Park

Nature & Parks
Oldest Northwest state park offers lakefront camping & cabins, plus a variety of outdoor activities.
Family camping trip. Plenty of RV hook ups. Nice clean campground. Facilities are clean and stocked. A lot to do like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking

Heyburn State Park is such a beautiful place and offers a variety of activities! We have personally hiked, fished & biked the area and can’t wait to visit again. The Parks employees are always friendly, the park is always clean, and the views are phenomenal.

We love staying at the Blue Heron and Osprey cabins. They are near each other if you wanted to rent both, each sleeps 5 to 6 people. Nice fire pits, picnic tables, they share the nearby vault toilet, and access to gorgeous hiking trails. Cabins have views of the lake but are not on the water. Each cabin has a microwave and small table, plus a heater inside.

We love it here! Plummer point beach is our favorite! The trail of the Coeurdalenes is nearby and so fun! Chatcolet bridge is beautiful and a fun bike ride!

It's a Very Beautiful area. BIG PLUS .... FREE Hot Showers !!!
But be forwarded, camping rates DOUBLE for the weekend $33.00 a day.
Otherwise, great cycling in the area, swimming and hiking.

One of our favorite state parks! Go in May when the ducks and geese have flown back and stuff is more green. The CDA trail runs through the middle of the park and it's a nice short walk across the bridge to see where the lake connects to the southern part of CDA lake. There is a playground in the middle of the park if you need to distract the kiddos. Highly recommended

We have always enjoy this beautiful park, many memories of bike riding the great trails, team volleyball, great shower and bathroom accomodations for the campers. There is boat rental down the road a lovely beach to relax on.

Great state park and good campground. There's a boardwalk to enjoy the marshes. The visitor center is nice and they have the junior ranger program.
Lisa Peabody — Google review
Yes, this is a “natural” state park, NOT a RV resort. So plan on getting back to nature here. I have great memories here. Love the rustic but very beautiful setting. This state park is not meant for large RVs, so if you want class and style, go somewhere else. The paved bike path is the main attraction and very nice.

Google maps for Hawleys Landing took me to a private road (I think) just past where the headquarters were at. Just a tip.
Secluded sites, clean bathrooms and hot showers. Walked to the lake and fished off the dock, couple bites. Stayed one night.

We rented a cottage that was nice. It was hot though that week and there was little relief until about 2am in the morning. The beds in 2bedrooms are full size beds, so a little to small for 2 adults. When we called asking questions about what was available in the kitchen, the staff wasn't very knowledgeable. We packed for one time of cooking and got there and wasn't prepared for really was there. The views though from the fully screen porch over looking the lake was out of this world, my wife and I had tea both morning and evening while reading.

Good place to come during bird migration. Cottonwood Creek is lovely, but I'm pretty sure it has an alias: Mosquito Hollow. It does have a peaceful sound to it, when the truck traffic isn't too heavy.
Have camped here a few times and it was pleasant. Never very far away from wildlife viewing and fishing.
Li Nu — Google review
Very clean restrooms with showers, electricity available at the vehicle sites. The tent sites are closer to the water and beautiful. Fun hiking and biking trails around. Go to the Ranger Station and pick up a super cute stuffed animal. Bring your bug spray....

Park was closed but is beautiful in that area, I drove by the state park just went around the entire lake Coeur d'Alene Saturday for a beautiful drive. If your bank angler it's a fun drive definitely pack for a day though if you're going all the way around the lake, there is a lot of spots to stop and fish. Otherwise lots of birds, eagles ospreys ducks geese swans. You name it 😎
I stayed at their Airbnb cottage with my baby & small dog, it was PERFECT and the hosts are so sweet. The alpacas/wildlife are great but if you’re looking for a getaway I would definitely check out their Airbnb 🙂
The cottage was warm & cozy with all of the things you would find in a well stocked hotel room plus a full kitchen and laundry. You’re in the mountains so it’s quiet and secluded as well. Treat yourself if you get the chance!

MUST VISIT
Unbelievably nice and amazing family own this BEAUTIFUL ranch.
One of our best experiences ever as you will walk and interact with amazing animals on your own.
They have Alpacas, llama, goats, miniature horses and donkeys and turkeys.
Animals were adorable and super friendly.
Please make sure to make an appointment before you visit as it’s by appointment only. Tours are every day at 11 am

Sonia was very welcoming! We laughed the whole time! This is Definitely a place to visit! Only $10 and it was well worth it! Best experience ever

We had the best experience! Loved every bit of experiencing the gorgeous farm, it's lovely owners and of course the animals! If you're lucky to go in winter you might get the farm to yourself and it's pure bliss.
Daniela Disterheft — Google review
I took my parents and kids here, and we all loved it! My son loved playing with the goats, my daughter loved the donkeys, and my mother loved the gift shop! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

Wonderful excursion. Great host and very interactive tour. Alpacas. Llamas. Sheep. Goats. Chickens. Rabbits. Mini Horses. Donkeys. We’ll the rooster crowed at me so I didn’t mess with the chickens much but is definitely got my hands on the others! Highly recommend if you are near Coeur d’Alene.

Truly an incredible place! The owners of the ranch are fantastic and let you roam the ranch and explore. Most importantly, you can spend all the time with the animals that you'd like. The goats, donkeys, and ponies were definitely our favorite. The let you put them and they enjoy it, especially the goats, they are actually affectionate! I highly recommend coming here!
Joey Esquer — Google review
Such a beautiful and authentic place. Great for animal lovers who want to see them treated with respect and compassion. The owner Sonia was so kind, she was very helpful with the toddler we traveled with. Every part of the trip was educational and fun, even in the winter. See how many cats and bunnies you can count on your trip!

Amazing farm! Friendly people, unique story, and awesome experience 🤩
Well worth $12 bucks a person. There was a cat that greeted us when we arrived. Thr animals are sweet and love attention. There's an air bnb and 3 areas to bring an rv. Super cool👌
Linda Little — Google review
We had been there somewhere in August. And it was my first time to Alpacas farm. This place is so peaceful. The tour was wonderful. They even let you touch and water the Alpacas. There are donkeys, goats and sheep as well. You can reserve a stay in Airbnb.
Five stars!! We are planning to visit again. Thanks for an amazing experience.
Krishna Chaitanya — Google review
Such a lovely place! Owned by and amazingly warm welcoming family, who treats their animals with love and know by heart all their names! Alpacas, llamas, donkeys, horses, sheep, goats… oh and of course their dogs and cats! Despite heavy rain we enjoyed every minute of our time at this barn! Thank you!
PS. A pro-tip: wear shoes that you will not be sorry to make dirty
Marina Wells — Google review
What a great, unconventional thing to do on vacation. Sonia is a great host, Tiger the cat a perfect greeting committee and Mister the dog entertaining. You get to walk around and feed the animals carrots and enjoy the mountain beauty. You definitely leave feeling more peaceful.

Farragut State Park
State park
Nature & Parks
Lakefront state park boasts hiking/skiing trails, water sports, disc golf, picnic areas & campsites.
Gorgeous, Breathtaking, Ever lasting Memories of Nature, Farragut Park is absolutely an amazing experience. The trails are awesome, durung the summer time you can swim in a few spots in the lake. The sights are something to stare at for hours. It's truly an awesome park.
I do wish some trails where a bit more maintenance and some under brush cleared a bit better possibly bring a 4 wheeler with a chipper attached, 4 man crew with chainsaws, could use the fallen logs for mulching. Just my opinion.
Random Googler — Google review
My wife and I love this place. It is become our regular go to place for outdoor activities camping bike riding and hiking. There’s miles and miles and miles of trails and let’s not forget frisbee golf. Campsites are nice and spread apart people are friendly. Great RC flying field.
Unfortunately Idaho state parks doubled their costs for out of state residence which makes a Farragut State Park and all other Idaho parks unaffordable. Yearly vehicle pass is now $80 and a one night stay is $74.
We will continue to go on daily basis but probably not to camp anymore. If you’re an Idaho resident I highly recommend this place. And if you want to get out for a day of hiking and biking there isn’t a better place around.
Tom Neese — Google review
Farragut State Park is a great place to go for camping or hiking. Lots of trails with views of the lake. The day use area had large covered picnic areas with horse shoe pits and volley ball nets nearby. Lots of room for many people to gather together. There were swings for younger kids to play on too. Camping cabins were also real close to the day use area. The cabins appeared to be fairly new and well maintained. A note on the cabin said that the cabins has been cleaned after each use. Each cabin had its own fire pit and picnic table. The cabins also had electric lights and an air conditioner. No bathroom inside the cabin, but a bathroom facility was a short walk from the cabins. The only issue would be if someone had to get up during the night it would be a little walk in the dark. There were close trails near the day use area that were well maintained. Very beautiful spot.
D Dias — Google review
Clean and organized. Lots to do both on and off the water. I loved that RV parking options were better than many camping areas with extra room to breathe and have a little privacy.
Trails were fun. Bayview was also fun and full of history.
Lori McAfee — Google review
We spent the day at Beaver Bay within Farragut State Park and it was perfectly lovely! It was 102° in town, but not for us! Under the shaded trees and next to the water, it felt like a perfect 75°. Unbelievable beauty and views!
M Witty — Google review
What can I say, I love to visit the state parks. I almost always stop in the visitor center to see what's new and chat with the clerks. In the spring I look forward to hearing and watching the birds, ground squirrels and other critters. Walking the various trails, the people have been generally friendly. Of course, gotta stop and check out the wild flowers.

Nice group site. Plenty of space. 5 frisbee golf courses. newly marked hiking biking trails 14.5 mile perimeter trail fun less than 500 elevation change
Wa Nu — Google review
Went to play Disc golf at Farragut and ended up camping. The courses ranged from easy to hard and were a blast to play. The park was clean and we didn't have any issues with getting a spot or camping.
Thomas Pham — Google review
I came to play the 5 disc golf courses and was not disappointed. There are a huge number of camping spaces including lots of full hookup RV sites, but we opted to stay in a camping camp that had heat and AC. Park has tons of lake frontage, trails, etc.
All in all an outstanding park with lots of space and lots of amenities.
goinupthegranby — Google review
Beautiful property and quiet, shaded, cared for campground. Stayed in Whitetail and were able to come without a reservation. Campground bathrooms were super clean. Easy access to potable water. Unfortunately, there were a lot of bees at our site. Minimal other bugs, though.
Marina Schmitt — Google review
I spent one night in a camping cabin in the winter. I thought paying $69 plus a reservation fee was quite expensive considering there are no winter services in the campground, you have to hike your stuff in to the cabin, and you have to clean it yourself. That being said the cabin was nice and it was a great experience.
When I checked in the ranger was very unhelpful. I had gone to ski but there was no snow so I asked about hiking in the park. She told me any hiking is good, and didn't point me to any specific trails. She really didn't want to interact with me. I couldn't find any maps in the park, and didn't have internet so I drove around aimlessly for a while then decided to leave. Being a ranger seems like such a cool job, don't know why this ranger didn't want to help me enjoy the park.
Ellie Knight — Google review
While the park itself is lovely, they have some of the most rude and disrespectful people working for them. The young lady at check in was particularly disrespectful and it seems typical of the people I have met there. The last time I went to the park was about 15 years ago and they were equally terrible then. I figured maybe they had changed but I was wrong.
Jesse Moore — Google review
We arrived at this park a little after 10 pm we had booked on line, didn’t see anything telling me to check in at the front office the park is extremely large.
When we were checking out the ranger ask who we were and if we had checked in, I stated I did, I did think I had to since I book & paid on line.
He said even though we were checking out, we had to check in or we would get a ticket.
I was disappointed he made us (used his position of authority) to go check in even though he took all our information saw that we were leaving.
We find the front office which isn’t located in any of the camps site it’s its own section.
With the shortage of workers in this country this park has plenty of employees to enforce rules that make no significant, when he already had written our information down visually saw and verbally spoke with us.
I check in only to be told to have a great day see you soon, that took an extra 1/2 hour because of parking and waiting in line to report I was checking in and out at the same time.
The park itself is big and nice, the toilets are at moments they do stink, they offer full hook-ups as well as tent sites. We chose not to use the toilets instead use our portable one the bathrooms were hit & miss.
I guess when you allocate more money hiring people to signing in people then checking bathrooms you end up with unclean bathrooms.
The lake is kind of hard to find I would say drive to it or ride your bike, lots of trails, the lake is absolutely beautiful.
The park is very clean and quite and well maintained.
Loree Good — Google review
I love Farragut State Park. There's so many trails and the water is beautiful. The mountains were very majestic looking with the different colors of green permanting in the sun.
Joanne Snodgrass — Google review
The park itself is nice. Campspots are not close to the lake but are good in size and provide some privacy. Great, groomed hiking trails. As other reviewers stated, staff is not welcoming. The individual checking us was unfriendly; almost flippant. Two of us drove to the S. Entrance with our scooters. The entry fee is per vehicle, so we decided to park one. The park would not allow us to park at the entrance. As we drove back to Bayview, a parking enforcement truck came out of nowhere. The park boundaries are deceiving because the entry gates are inside the park. Luckily for us, we had seen the signs and parked in town where parking was hassle free.
Kelly L — Google review
Camp sites are clean and good sized, boat launch is very accessible eazy in and out, fair amount of parking and prep areas. Plenty to do, beach, boat, kayak, cycle, hike. We really enjoyed our time there..
Patrice Garcia — Google review
Always a good day walking in the park. The trails are nice and the park is beautiful!

Wow, so beautiful ❤️. The water of Lake Pend Oreille - pronounced "pond da ray", was so refreshing and crystal clear. We went swimming at Idlewild Bay. There is a "store", Cast, Blast, & Relax"- Food & snacks and they rent: bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards, & fishing gear! on the path down to the lake, before you get to the water. There are flush toilets and nice showers there, too. Plenty of parking. The park itself has a lot to offer: Gift shop, Disc Golf, Tree to Tree Adventure Park, Camping, Boat Launch for watercraft, horse trails, llama trails, hiking trails, mtn bicycle trails, Shooting range, museum at the Brig Jr. Ranger Station, Equestrian Campground, Model Aircraft Field(Insurance required), fishing, picnic sites, group camping, dump station. Winter Recreation :snow shoeing, Cross Country Skiing, fat tire biking. When you first check in to the campground office, there is a very informative visitor center, very interesting. Worth your time to check it out.
Recreational trail on a former rail line offering camping areas, wildlife views & natural scenery.

Silver Mountain Resort
Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Polished ski resort offering modern condos & an indoor water park, plus restaurants, bars & shops.
Took the family tubing and skiing. The gondola was a fun ride with beautiful views if it's a clear day. The people were all amazing and happy as well. Overall it was just a great time. There is also a water park but you definitely want to go on line and schedule the tubing and water park in advance. You can usually purchase a package with your hotel stay or buy seperate. There are restaurants at top and bottom of gondola

We will be back for sure! Very clean, great sized rooms, perfect sized water park to keep tabs on kids. The food and drinks are delicious. We got a cabana for my son’s birthday and it was so nice to have our own space that overlooks the park. Clean hot tubs through out the resort so they never get too crowded. Kids never got bored which makes for very happy parents. Close to Wallace (gorgeous!) and CdA. We spent one day doing the Hiawatha trail and it was so nice to come back to Silver Mountain and soak in the hot tubs with dinner after a long bike ride.
Liz McHale — Google review
Went sledding on tubes today and it was so fun! Not crowded because it was so cold today but even the gondola was fun and the tube lift was neat. Would totally do it again as they did such a good job making it fast enough but no flying off your tube and hurting yourself. Very beautiful place and well done!

Silver mountain is an incredible place to ski. The staff are all friendly and the mountain - despite being on the smaller side - is fun to explore. While I can’t speak to snow conditions throughout the season, it’s always been fantastic in March. I’m grateful that they still have an indoor area for people who bring their own lunches. This is a resort that remains true to the good old ski culture. Never change, Silver Mountain.
L D — Google review
Fun day of spring skiing. Plenty of skiable terrain. $10 discount was available when purchasing lift tickets online. Gondola rides are scenic and unique given the distance; over 3 miles. Loved that the lift operators were engaged and fun. Drinks and snacks at the lodge were reasonably priced, although this could have been due to the lateness of the season. Definitely recommend.
Kelly L — Google review
The Ride and Dine with live music event was so much fun and definitely would do again. We all enjoyed the ride and beautiful scenery on the gondola, which I'm told is the longest in the country. The dinner, music, and view at the top of the mountain were spectacular. A+++ Highly recommend.
Brandy Trefren — Google review
We stopped here on the way from Spokane to Glacier National park. The gandola rides is a bit overpriced and it gets a little boring after 10-15 minutes. The views are also okayish on top. Wouldn’t take gandola and spend 2 hours again. It’s a cute area, so other amenities like water park and restaurants can be explored.

Hotel was great! Has shops like froyo, arcades, bike shop, Cafe and more. At the front desk you can buy smores packets and roast them at the firepit. Quality hot tubs, very spacious rooms and comfortable bed and bedding. Our room had a gas fireplace, full kitchen, balcony and much more! I highly recommend 👌
Erika Cook — Google review
This is one of our family's happy places. The one bedroom suites are perfect for a short or long stay. Dishes and cooking items are provided. Our most recent stay we were missing some things and it seemed like an outdated room, which has never happened. But overall based on years of trips, we love silver mountain.
Chantelle Fickinger — Google review
We had never been skiing Idaho before and decided to check out the Silver Mountain Resort! For the price, it was well worth the value. The lift tickets were cheap, it was not crowded, and the views were beautiful. If looking for a cheaper way to ski out west, this is a good option.
Stephanie Bidle — Google review
We didn't stay at the resort. However, we snow tubed and ate at the restaurant at the top of the Mt. The wait was over an hour after ordering our food but it was to be expected as it was Saturday at lunch time. Food was great, waitstaff excellent but the absolute best part was snow tubing. Groomed runs and a magic carpet to bring you back up!! Had a blast will return.
Amanda Kist — Google review
Place stinks, don’t come here 😉
One of the best resorts I’ve ever skied. The staff is so nice and welcoming, from the second you round the corner to hop on the gondola, to in the lift lines (lines that don’t exist) to do some runs! Love a resort that has charm like Silver. It will always hold a special place in my heart! Bring back night skiing!

We are an MTB family of 5. I had two teen riders and my husband with me, myself being the only experienced gravity rider. I will note our family has a bmx background, and our kids race on the NICA circuit which was beneficial in allowing us to have an amazing time on the mountain. Read on to learn why…
Huge Note on the Trail Ratings: The Bike Park’s green trails are absolutely NOT green trails by any standard. For true beginners with minimal skill, riding this park is a sure fire way to have a bad time. But with even a bit of single track experience, I think the average rider can figure it out, even if it means hot laps on the greens and taking the gondola back down. (You can’t take all greens to the bottom.) Crescent, their easiest green trail, is in the beginner-blue trail realm, with only some sections that qualify as green. The fact that some of the available lines are loose knocks it out of the green category. Payday and Cool Neatness are also better categorized as Blue, with some sections definitely treading into Black territory based on some of the switchback’s steep gradients combined with loose rocks. The loose rocks in the turns and on some straights on these trails are avoidable and/or manageable for the experienced rider, but for a beginner who doesn’t yet choose the best lines and is busy white knuckling their brakes, it can be sketchy for sure. As for their blue trails on the upper part of the mountain (chair 3 zone), Jackass, El Burro Loco and Carnage Asada (which is new and not yet on the map), they are all definitely better described as black diamonds for the average rider in terms of overall grade, technicality and steepness. There are steep and loose switchbacks, unavoidable rock gardens, and the presence of optional/rollable features like jumps and some smallish natural drops. The rest of their blacks are better seen as double blacks, the red portions (of which are well marked on the maps) have huge pro features for those riders who carry excellent health insurance policies.
As for the the trails past the point of no return that take you to the bottom, they are longer but markedly less intense blues compared to those at the top of the mountain. The lower blue flow trails like lower Jackass and Corkscrew are trails you can just slip into your zen state and bomb to the bottom. But Be sure to take Picnic Rock to stop for an amazing view (pictured). High Life, Low Life, Pepsi Can and Wildcat, all had natural features and smaller jumps that can get your wheels off the ground if you want. There’s also a pretty cool little table jump series and a hip somewhere among these. (You can’t miss ‘em ) The lower blue tech trails are fantastic for someone looking for some added challenge in their descent. Again, keep in mind, these are better rated as black and they can bite unexpectedly.
Bike shop: The resort bike shop was helpful and cut us a pretty amazing deal on some work that my daughter’s bike unexpectedly needed. Bike was done overnight and back to her first thing in the morning.
Route of the Hiawatha Trail: we took a recovery day between bike park days to ride the 15 mile Hiawatha trail. Highlight was hand feeding wild chipmunks. 10/10 would recommend for an easy day. Just be aware, bike etiquette does not exist here.
Food: Yokes grocery store. We cooked.
Accommodations: We stayed in a resort condo for our first 3 nights and my daughter and I grabbed a private studio to stay an extra day for hot laps on the mountain a 4th night. rooms are clean and get the job done, though we would have preferred a 2nd bathroom. The condo easily slept 6. A 7th could sleep on the couch and the master had room for a cot or sleeping bag or two for those of you wanting to bring a big crew and save $.
Water park: We absolutely took advantage of the water park admission, hitting the hot tubs, lazy River and flow rider after the day’s activities. We even booked a private lesson for the flow rider on our last day -something I wish I did earlier in our stay.
Overall our stay was amazing and we will be back again!

Fun place!! Definitely only need one day at the water park but the kids had a blast!! The rooms were clean and well equipped. Very fun! We stopped there on our way to another destination so only stayed one night and it was perfect!

Fun activities, dirty rooms. I haven't been here in about 10 years and I'm not eager to return.
My family and I stayed here for my 3yo birthday party. We purchased an overnight splash and tube package. We arrived at 1 and played in the water park until our room was ready. We checked in at 5. When we got into our room I found cleaning rags on the bathroom counter. No big deal, maybe they left in a hurry. As the night went on it got worse. Our kids (3&4yo) were tired and hungry so we went straight into dinner, presents, cake and bed. When we pulled the hide-a-bed out we found chips and candy under the ottoman, a used water bottle and something I couldn't identify under their bed. We grabbed blankets from the closet to find one was covered in some kind of stain (pictured). I tossed it to the side and grabbed the second one, which was also obviously dirty. My kids were overly ready for bed so they just went without a top sheet. The following morning I went to make coffee and there was old coffee still in the pot. Once we went to shower I found a used towel in the shower! We had tubing reservations so we packed up and left. As we checked out we reported everything to the front desk. Their immediate response was why we didn't call, to which I explained my kids didn't have the stamina to have our room re cleaned last night and we were too settled in to ask for another room at 8pm. It wasn't until the coffee and used towel we discovered the morning of checkout that I was beyond disgusted. When I shared this with my sister who was also staying there she told me they found used, fake nails all over the floor of their master room! I again reported the information to the hotels website as I didn't believe the front desk found our experience concerning. They informed me they'd let housekeeping know.

We had a great stay. The service was prompt and kind.
The walls were thin, so we did have to listen to the neighbors, and them to us probably 😬
The sofa bed was as uncomfortable as sofa beds get! The bed in the room was so-so. The cot we ordered was $18, but definitely more comfortable than the pull-out couch!the outdoor hot tubs were nice, but they need to have AT LEAST ONE HOTTUB FOR ADULTS ONLY! No one likes sharing a hot-tub with strangers’ kids!

Very friendly and helpful staff throughout the resort. Our condo was immaculate, roomy and stocked with all the basic kitchen necessities, which we used to make meals during our stay. The washer/dryer stocked with detergent was so nice for laundering our things. The water park was a blast and had a seamless experience from ticketing, gondola and snow fun on the mountain and back. Our family will be returning soon!

More affordable, and easier to get to than Vail Aspen, or steamboat, so much skiable terrain. Every day we found more and more steep drops and powder through the trees and Glades. So many wide open spaces in the lifts never had a line amazing place This is a gem and lift tickets, with a discount we’re only four dollars each.

Overall: 5 out of 5. Amazing family trip (3 nights). Exceeded all our expectations. 1 bedroom condo was perfect. Highly recommend!
Waterpark: 10 out of 5. This place is awesome.
Snow Tubing: 5 out of 5. So much fun. Magic carpet is slow. Reservations needed.
Food: 3 out of 5. Not very good options at the resort. Go down the street and get BBQ, amazing.

I really like this place. They have nice runs and the gondola is a nice touch. So nice to not have to pack everything up to the lift. Friendly staff, beautiful runs. Maybe my favorite mountain so far.

My husband, friends and I had a total blast staying here. We got the all inclusive so we could ski and water park all day every day we stayed. The hotel was cute and the staff were all nice. Kimberly especially was great. She went above and beyond to know who we were and help us with everything we needed. The water park definitely is a lot of kids but the bar inside was a perk and we all enjoyed the lazy river, surfing and water slides. The restaurant on site had some really great food too. Overall we had a fantastic weekend.
Easy access yet spectacularly remote. Great place to go and get lost for a few days. I came in from Couer D'alene. At first the river is wide and slow as it flows through some sparsely populated neighborhoods settled on the river. Higher up the river starts to tumble and narrow with nice plunge pools below the riffles. Past the town of Avery is my favorite area. But it can be a challenge if you're fishing. There are plenty of turnouts but getting down to the river and making your way along it takes some dedication but it's worth it. When you're ready to leave (or when you have to..) you can just follow the same road all the way back to I-90. It turns into a dirt road for a bit but it's in good shape. It will take you through the "Gold Pass" along the way. It's a nice drive by itself.

The St. Joe River is stunning. I have yet to fish it yet but I plan to this summer. Either way even if the fishing is no good the drive to see it is worth it. The surrounding area is beautiful as well, I visited in St. Marie's, Id.

Coming from western Washington and having access to cell service while you're camping is honestly a drag. I love that we can get away from everything here. No emails. No calls. No texts. Just the most amazing natural beauty. I love north Idaho.
Silver Streak Zipline Tours offers an amazing and entertaining experience for visitors. The staff, including Chris and Ethan, are highly praised for making guests feel comfortable, safe, and entertained throughout the tour. The photographer captures great moments, and the Big Daddy zip line is recommended for an extra thrill. Visitors also appreciate the free water bottle and the option to purchase memorable souvenirs like shirts and stickers. Overall, it's described as a wonderful family-run business that provides a great experience for all ages.
Absolutely fantastic experience! My girlfriend and I had the opportunity to be the first guests of this season, the whole crew at Silver Streak made it such a memorable event! Great views and lots of laughs. 100% will be returning on our next trip. #STARFISH!!

Had a large family group staying in Kellogg. We rode the Hiawatha, played at Coure d'Alene, and had the opportunity to have a "Girls Night." We decided that a "Girls Morning" would be better, and we did the West Course Zip line. It was awesome! Our guides were friendly and very safety conscious. We zipped through spectacular scenery and had a wonderful time. The guys were jealous! Would definitely recommend!

I can’t say enough great things about the guys here! All were 100% professional and safety-conscious, but also relaxed. The perfect combo for first-time zippers! We were completely blown away by the entire crew and experience and will be back again every year!! Unbelievable experience due to the crew here, 100/10 would recommend! I was speechless in the best way!

This place was so much fun! Everyone was happy and friendly. Each run, they were very thorough with checking the safety equipment and also giving verbal instructions. One instructor always goes first so he is waiting for you, the other stays to help you. There were only a couple little uphill treks, they drove you in a buggy otherwise which was nice. I had a great time and so did my boyfriend who'd never done it.
Bonus part: the town is so quaint and small with good food and an antique shop.

They accommodated every need of our group of 13. The guys all had fun personalities and helped make this experience the highlight of our week long outing. High five star recommendation

Absolutely PHENOMENAL experience zipping in Wallace! The professionalism and kindness of our expedition leaders (Colton and Ethan), made this a lifetime memory for my daughter and I. We faced fears, we laughed, we zipped, and we found a lifelong moment to enjoy life and one another on this excursion. Lines are FAST, fun, safe with gorgeous views! Colton and Ethan were supportive, confident, and refreshingly respectful of each individual zipper, meeting each person where they were comfortable. Worth the money and the time; we will DEFINITELY be back with this company. Big Daddy is CRAZY AWESOME!! Thanks for a great time!!

Sierra Silver Mine Tour, Inc. offers a guided exploration of an underground silver mine that is both informative and interesting for all ages. Tickets are purchased at the station where visitors can also mine for minerals and enjoy ice cream before taking a trolley tour of the town to reach the mine entrance. The guide provides extensive knowledge about the mining process and allows visitors to operate some equipment while exploring the flat interior of the cave.
My wife and I took this tour the second day it was open this year and were the only two in our time slot. Very friendly staff and the guide who led the trolly ride to and from the mine provided a very entertaining and informative history of Wallace.
Fast Freddy (awesome!) met us at the mine and guided us into the mountain. A former silver miner for decades, he provided a fascinating and insightful tour filled with details that only someone with his years of experience could.
We’ve been through several mines, and this was the first to actually demonstrate working mining equipment…that really made the history come to life.
Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone with even a casual interest in mining or the history of the West.

My wife and I truly enjoyed our time in Wallace! We especially enjoyed the silver mine tour! Our driver was spectacular and the miner who took us into the mine was born to mine! He is a great man and an excellent fit as a guide!
We thank you all!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Took my 11 year old and 8 year old to do the mine tour. We bought our tickets at the station and mined for minerals inside the store. We also got ice cream inside the store. Then the adorable trolley came and picked us up and gave us a little tour of the town and took us to the mine. My boys thought the mine was really interesting. Our tour guide was very informative. He let the boys turn on some of the equipment. I had never been inside a mine before and I thought it was very neat. Very accessible too. There are about 25 steps to the mine entrance and the inside of the cave is flat. We drove over and did the Pulaski trail afterwards. Such a fun day!

My husband and I came here for the tour and we really enjoyed every minute of it. From the trolley ride downtown Wallace up to the mine. It was a great time. Marty are tour guide in the mine was wonderful and such a nice person. I would recommend however, if you're sensitive to noise, bring some ear plugs for when they demonstrate some of the equipment. It's extremely loud and if you're sensitive to noise, it may be a problem for you. Also, if you're afraid of the dark, please be prepared that there is going to be a portion where they're demonstrating the darkness of the cave. This may scare young children in particular. I highly recommend this place in this tour. It's worth the very small amount you pay and you'll learn a lot.
Jessica Robertson — Google review
First-hand narration by a tour guide recounting his silver mining work experience leads to a memorable, informative experience walking through a silver mine, with additional narration on the ride to and from the mine tunnel on a trolley where you can learn about the interesting city of Wallace, Idaho.

Tours run often enough there is little wait. A lot of interesting stuff at the store/tour depot! Trolley ride was fun & informative. Mine tour was great! Lee was good clean fun, full of knowledge & experience. He gave 2 book suggestions that I made note of & plan to check out. Fabulous way to spend a little over an hour!
Lynette Straley — Google review
We had a great time. The tour was very interesting and Lee, our guide, was patient and answered all of our questions. My one suggestion is, tell people who bring their dogs that the machinery is VERY loud, not a little loud, and there is a vibration that will startle them. It was a great experience. I would also suggest, if you head back to the west, out of Wallace, do stop at the memorial for the Sunshine Mining disaster. Is is impressive.
Randee Jean Bybee — Google review
We love this tour! The tour guide had so much to share and turned several of the machines on. (If you have small kids or those sensitive to noise bring earmuffs) It is amazing that men go down and work underground every day for products that we never know we use. Our guide was a 4th generation miner! Will go back and do this again when our little kids can remember but our big kid loved the tour!
Emily Morris — Google review
Lenny was funny and informative. The trolley 🚎 driver was very good. Short ride to the mine, if it's hot outside you don't really need a jacket. Wear sturdy shoes, there's various small areas of standing water.
And then a small tour of the town. I would recommend, but not highly recommend.

A must see if you're in the area!! This is a great tour for all ages and I would highly recommend it to everyone! Great tour guides and an amazing experience.
Jeremy Brown — Google review
The tour of the mine which was wonderful and the guide a former miner Fast Freddie was very knowledgeable, engaging, and entertaining was outstanding. I would give this place 5 stars however, the driver for the tour was indifferent to the female military members on the tour. He started out asking were there any military or vets on board. Those that were, raised their hands including myself and a fellow female military vet. He acknowledged the male vets by speaking to them directly but never acknowledged the female vets. It was evident he focused on the male vets by engaging them during the drive to the mine and back. If you are going to ask the question be courteous enough to acknowledge all members of the military or do not ask the question in the first place. The driver mentioned Wyatt Earp during his talk. As we were dropped off, I tried to engage with the driver to let him know that my ancestrial family had ties with Wyatt Earp he basically brushed me off. My friend had the same feeling during the drive. I then left and now my review speaks for itself. Without saying the word sexist I think I am getting my point across.

One of our favorite stops on our trip! Well worth going!! All the tour guides are retired miners, who really know what they're talking about. Our kids loved (Lenny) our guide's humor! We were also very impressed with the trolley driver and the lady who checked us in at the beginning of the tour! She really helped us out!
Sarah Cluff — Google review
This is so worth it! Lee was our tour guide, what an amazing man, full of knowledge. The Trolley driver...I will call him "Wally", retired Navy-great bantering with the guests and a bonus of some history of Wallace. (I am not sharing many pictures....this is so you will go check it out for yourself.)

This was one of the coolest tours! I had no expectations really, but it was absolutely fascinating! The tour guides were personable, knowledgeable and we felt so comfortable. We learned a lot and my son even got to use some of the machinery underground. He was thrilled! It’s cold, so bring a sweatshirt. But even if you don’t have one, they will lend you one. We can’t wait to go back again.

Loved this tour, great way to learn about the town. Dog friendly & they were very sweet with my senior pup. Tours offered every 30 mins. Pro tip: stop in at the 6th & Cedar before / after your tour which is also dog friendly! Street parking.

50,000 Silver Dollar Inn
Motel
Nightlife
Family-run motel offering a casino, casual dining & a rustic bar with an expansive coin collection.
I think it's funny how people expect so much from a place with a great reputation, but the reality of it is that the silver dollar inn doesn't have too much going for it which is what I love about it. I spent the night here with my family and we had a great time with the scenery being out in the middle of nowhere. Just the soft roar of the freeway and the company of other people. Truly I love the gift shop and the restaurant and bar was also delightful. The hotel rooms were nice and clean and I was made feel very welcome there. I can't wait to go back and stay longer so I can explore the rest of Montana.

Always a great place to stop. Good food, bar/restaurants, Coffee shop, Lots of good parking especially if you are a trucker..Love that aspect. Can't go wrong here. Only problem is that I spend too much money when I stop here. So many cool vendors and truly unique things to buy here. It's a great place to do your gift shopping. The employees are really nice and down to earth. Love it here. Thanks for the great experience...

Usually this is a drive by on our east -west ventures but the snow and hour changed our minds this time and we are so glad. What a gem. No frills but clean, comfortable, quiet and very pet friendly, the girls even got their own goody bag. Staff were helpful and friendly. Complimentary breakfast at the restaurant was just right.
Special note: mom and dad of the young man (15ish) that was helpful at check in, you did good!
Thanks for a peaceful, restful night.
This is definitely a place to stop again!!

I'll share this from a Truckers perspective:
1. Parking - There is always truck parking no matter the time of day or night.
2. Bathrooms - Have always been clean every time I've been here.
3. C Store - Normal, not a lot of options.
4. Has a motel. I can't comment on it because I haven't stayed in it.
5. Restaurant and bar - Restaurant has been good, not great, the couple times I've eaten there. I like the bison burger and country fried steak. However, the menu is overpriced and bland. Also, they are open until 2300, but only serve dinner until 2130. So, not great. Did I mention overpriced? Haven't drank at the bar so can't comment.
6. Gift shop - A big tourist trap. There are some cool things, though, if you look hard enough.
7. Huckleberry ice cream - Awesome! This is the reason I stop here. Very good.
8. Has a small casino if you're into that.
So, it has some good stuff and whatever stuff. I'll come back for the ice cream and parking.

Always a 5 Star experience, but this time they didn’t have any silver jewelry. They have tons of great jewelry options, used to have real silver rings, but stopped carrying them for some reason?
I’ve stopped here a few times along the drive from WA/ID to Montana. Right next to the Inn is a diner, gift shop, and tons of cool things to see. For sure, something for all members of the family to enjoy. (Or any solo traveler of course! 😊)
Go find out why it’s called 50,000 Silver Dollar and you won’t be disappointed! Kidding, I’m sure someone has already posted pictures about the main attraction 🤷🏻♀️ Or the establishment has…😂 I haven’t looked. Just wanna show our support!

So much fun, there's definitely something for everyone of all ages and interests to enjoy.

We’ve stopped here at the RV campground a few times on the way through. RV electrical hookups are free, 50-amp and 30-amp. No water or sewer, but what else do you expect for free? Great gift shop and restaurant. Very clean restrooms and they’re happy to fill up water bottles. Sure it’s a bit of a tourist trap, but a great place to take a break.

The 50,000 Silver Dollar Inn is a truly unique and quirky destination that captures the imagination of anyone who visits. Located in Beatty, Nevada, this roadside attraction boasts an astounding collection of silver dollars adorning its walls, ceilings, and every available surface. It's a visual spectacle that leaves a lasting impression. Apart from the coin-themed decor, the 50,000 Silver Dollar Inn also offers lodging, a restaurant, and a gift shop. While the inn may not be a luxurious destination, it's a remarkable stop for those seeking an offbeat experience and a glimpse into a world of numismatic wonder. The 50,000 Silver Dollar Inn is a testament to the enduring allure of the American roadside attraction.

We come here all the time when visiting family. This is our usual stop. Today was not it's best day. The bathrooms smelled awful, and the baby station was not sanitary. The food was nor up to par. The fish tacos are meant to be an appetizer, why do they come with their own side? They're enough for a full meal. The burger was more greasy then usual and although our waiter was pleasant, who ever that old blonde woman running the counter is from new jersey needs to be kept away from customers. Very rude and had the audacity to try an explain what she perceives as normal to someone born and raised in the area and whose traveled the world instead of just remedying an misunderstood order. It hindered my appetite hearing her condescending tone towards my husband who frankly, our classes her in every possible way when he was informing her how he wanted his food in its original way. If she isn't cultured then at least have the humbleness to learn. We'll still come back but we will be avoiding her for service.

For some reason, I thought this Bar/Gift shop/Restaurant was going to be much better than it was.
I ordered a burger, fries, and a shake to go which was delicious, but at around $30 it was extremely over priced.
The slots at the bar were ridiculously tight. I Spent $200 and was only rewarded with 3 bonuses, one was about $8, one was $2, and one was about $35. Which is terrible considering I was playing at $1.20 a spin. Don't waste your cash here, save it for something other than a dive bar.
If you really have to get something to eat and can afford to pay about 3 times more than what you're used to, then go for it.

We love stopping here on our trips to/from WA and Kalispell for quirky souvenirs and snacks. We let our toddler run around and look at all the toys. We ordered from the cafe this last time and it took forever for pretty simple burger sliders and a grilled cheese. The food was alright, to be expected. Clean restrooms.
Sometimes I feel like I'm in this shop more than I am my own house. It's my pre-designated rest area on my drive from Seattle to Montana. The top off my gas tank I go inside and grab some snacks and I often find some souvenirs to give to friends. And yes the Huckleberry milkshakes are amazing but there's so much more to the shop. Clean restrooms food options for there or to go.

Loved it, as always! The gift shop is full of awesome things. I found this one sign that had me cracking up laughing. We also stopped at the food place their and I got chicken strips. Four GINORMOUS chicken strips with a bunch of fries. Needless to say, I got a to go box. It was amazing, and the chocolate shake I got was delicious as well. My mom said the lobster bisque, which was the special, was very good as well.

It is hard to drive past the travel center as they have posted dozens of billboards along the way, letting you know that it's 50 miles, 40 miles, 10 miles, etc. So with the advertising pulling me in, I stopped here. I was able to resist the siren call of the huckleberry shakes.
Lots of interesting shopping with many local mementoes and hand-made art for sale. Thankfully, the restrooms were clean and the wifi worked okay for a bit. I didn't manage to find anywhere to plug in and charge my phone but that wasn't the reason I stopped.

WOW Daughter suggested we stop on our way to Washington. Said they make the best Huckleberrie milkshakes. Signs along highway also reminding me of that. The pumps were very busy and lots of people walking around outside. Friday around 1 on a long weekend. Saw the spot to order the takeout orders and walked up and was served right away. Friendly service and fast. Ordered a huckleberry milkshake. Lots of berrys and topped off with whip cream. The hamburger was cooked just right with a huckleberry sauce on top of the cheese along with the greenest lettuce. Two slices of perfect tomatoes. Topped off with two slices of tasty pickles. The fries were hot and fried just right. The hot dawg was grilled and was a treat for daughters dog kids. As I was waiting they gave me a round circle that lights up and vibrates when order is ready. Went to washroom and walked around the shopping area. Lots of really neat things. Fudge, more ice cream and gifts. Clothes and funky slippers. Pretty soon the circle was vibrating and went to the pickup window. They prepared milkshake right away. Heaven awaits u first pull from straw. Got out too vehicle and desided to leave heading west about a mile turned off of highway to a spot beside river. Only a truck with two people parked. Daughter got out and took her yorkies for a cool down at river and a potty break. There is a doggy park across street from Travel Centre but with the little male and teacup yorkie desided to save the other dogs from all the noise. Really good idea. The travel centre was very clean and had lots of staff to help with your purchases. The next time driving by will be a definite stop. Deserves more stars to make up for the ones that gave hardly any stars.

Our Wiley E. Waters raft trip was booked out of their Montana location--floating on the gorgeous Clark Fork River--with Mother Nature showing off her best with 80 degrees and sunshine. Our river guide & paddler was Jack--a fun, young, tall-tale-telling gent with a sweet disposition and lover of nature. His 'boss', Nate, was knowledgeable of his craft, nature, birds and how to have a good time. Our time on the river was the best. If you want an afternoon filled with unparalleled beautiful scenery, good company and exciting rapids then book your trip with Wiley. After all is said and done, we spent an hour sitting around their camp with a cold one (or two) getting to know our new friends Nate and Jack. Book it now!!

We took a full day trip early July with Belle as our guide. We had a great time from beginning to end. All of the staff were fun and welcoming, but we really enjoyed Belle. She had a great personality! There was enough action to get your heart pumping but never a time when it felt unsafe. It was a great balance of downtime and action and Belle made the downtime interesting. As a group of two fourty something friends and my nine year old daughter it was perfect. Where do I start? The belly laughs? The family memories? The stories from the guide that were so incredibly awful they were hilarious? Rock jumping, raft rodeos, special moments with teenagers who were not completely focused on their electronics...these are the things that make moms happy. Aaron was hands down the constant who made our family outing awesome. He was able to read the group and adjust lanes as needed with the rapids. Can't wait to come back. THANK YOU, Wiley E. Waters, for not falling victim to the corporate madness and focusing on people instead!

These people are amazing! Super informative, fun, exciting, and kind! Along with my husband and self, we had our 3 daughters ages 6,9, and 12. They made us feel comfortable and safe even though they were so young. They even brought an extra guide with for safety! They continuously asked how daring or easy each rapid was that we wanted to take. So we had a choice in every step of the way. We even got to go cliff diving which I never thought I would do but they gave me confidence! So much fun and 100% would recommend this company and guides to anyone and everyone!!

Our family booked a rafting trip last minute with Wiley E. Waters at the end of a vacation. The experience ended up being one of the highlights of our vacation. Customer service was prompt and so accommodating, the guides were incredibly fun and easy to spend the day with, and there were lots of opportunities for fun little adventures along the way during our trip. We absolutely will be back and say enough positive things about this company and the experience they provide.

This trip was a bucket list tick for me and my friend. We were accommodated quickly when we booked our whitewater rafting trip. We had a child on one of our boats with special needs, along with a couple of us who were older and a lot in between. The raft captains (3 of them) that were leading us that day were absolutely amazing your men. They kept us feeling comfortable and at ease through the entire day. The lunch they provided was wonderful to have in the middle of our trip. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that is looking for an experience without fear or reservation. Thank you Wiley E Waters for a wonderful day on the river!!!

This has been one of the best rafting trips we've ever taken. We did the Whitewater with Wine option, which was a 4 to 5 hour experience. Our guide, Holli, was spectacular - a fantastic navigator who maximized the fun while keeping us safe and entertained. The rapids were thrilling, the views incredible, and the lunch (and later, the wine) really were spot on. We'd do this trip again in a heartbeat!

Absolutely incredible time! We had our wedding in superior Montana. We wanted to find an activity that the entire wedding party could do together, and Pangea accommodated us not only for the white water rafting, but for the wine float as well. Our instructors were so much fun! Amazing location, staff, equipment. Ect thank you!

Our Pangea rafting trip was fantastic! We loved our guide, company owner Brooke, who told us so much about the stretch of river we traveled through. She provided a delicious lunch and took great care of our group. Pangea is the best rafting company in the Missoula area, and we look forward to our next excursion.

Down-to-earth hotel featuring a spa & hot springs pools, plus a restaurant & an espresso bar.
Old basic hotel in a hippy town. If you like places out of the past, then you will love this. Picture a hotel room out of the old western TV shows. People are great. Inside tubs and 4 pools outside, one a large warm swimming pool. Live Music on weekends sometimes with dancing. Food service varies but there is usually soup available in small lobby where you will share a table or newspaper in your bathing suit or bathrobe. Love it or not, you will be in the center of times past.

I made a reservation a month in advance, when my party arrived they said I had cancelled my reservation and had no vacancy. I explained I didn’t cancel it and if I did why did I drive 2 hours to check in. They use index cards for their registrations and apparently didn’t verify any information before cancelling the reservation. They didn’t apologize or offer compensation. I have been going there every year for 29+ years. I will not return. The place is more run down and over crowed. We like to give to the small town of hot springs unfortunately we won’t any longer.
Bren E — Google review
I so wish I could give this place a better review, but want others to know about staying here.
I had a good experience making reservations. I did read the reviews and wasn't scared by the ones complaining about the smell (mineral hot springs sometimes smell like rotten eggs), or even the age of the facilities. I'm a Montanan and am no stranger to older lodging and less modern amenities.
We were a little put off by the fact it is smack dab in the middle of town. We were further dismayed by the actual appliance junkyard we had to drive by to get to our cabin.
The cabin was what we expected.
The first night we tried to go to the pools and they were full. It seemed like the people were mostly in one party and there wasn't a comfortable place in either if the hot pools to sit. I was a little annoyed that I wasn't told there was such a big group when I made reservations.
We decided to make the best of it and stayed in and played games. The town of Hot Springs is mostly full of good people. I mentioned the full pools to some people in town and most of them said the people were probably employees and their friends.
We did go soak after coffee. It was fine except some regular soakers were a bit... odd....and continued to try and engage us in conversations that weren't appropriate or comfortable.
We went to soak again at night. There were a few people who were employees. One of them kept yelling to another one to let his dog out of his van. Several loose dogs were running around the outside of the pool enclosure while their people tried to manage them from the pools. Not exactly relaxing.
We also love dogs and brought ours but walked them away from the pools just like the sign said...
One of the reviews mentioned it being creepy and having many creepy people around and I have to agree. I've traveled all over alone - nearly every large city in the country- and I would never come here as a solo female traveler. It's possible that the owners only want locals. And they must because as full-price paying customers, we were not acknowledged, and hospitality is not even a word that's known here.
I suggest waiting and paying more at Quinn's or Chico or Fairmont. That's certainly what we will do.
Leslie Oneill — Google review
The best natural hot spring water. We’ve been enjoying the healing water for over 3 years and it’s a pleasant soak every time we visit. There are optional private tubs inside the hotel when outdoor pools are busy.
Liliya — Google review
I believe this is my first time giving 1 Star! Eeesh, so this was an experience to say the least. And no I am not uppity or was expecting a spa like experience or anything. I was expecting clean, and didn’t get that.
I guess this place has been around forever and is sort of a local institution. I’m not sure what kind of codes a hotel / hot springs has to pass when it’s a commercial place like this but I cannot imagine it passes.
First off, when you walk into the hotel lobby it’s filthy and people are traipsing through with bare feet, dripping bathing suits, and some just sitting in the lobby like that. The only way to and from the pools is through the lobby to the outside. So the salt and grime is getting tracked in too.
Then you proceed into the changing area and walk along sopping wet carpet that was probably laid when the place was built. There’s several stalls with grimy bathtubs and rusty pipes. This is where you can bathe or rinse off after the outdoor pools. Proceed along and you’ll find change rooms that have one bathroom stall and one shower stall to service the many people waiting around. The place doesn’t look like it gets cleaned more than once a day if that. It’s crowded and there’s no limit to how many people can pack in anywhere.
Make your way back out to the lobby to the pools across the parking lot and they are filthy. Don’t sit near an intake filter or you’ll just spend your time watching hair and scrum flow in and out of the pool. The top pool is the hottest and cleanest but even that was not clean, and it’s very small. The source pool is across the grass and mud to a hut and it’s the hottest of course but the size of a bathtub.
It probably didn’t help that a few days earlier we’d been at a very clean and well arranged hotel / hot spring so in comparison this was pretty atrocious. But seriously it’s been 2 months and we still talk about it!
Oh well, we enjoyed a good laugh with friends and will never forget the experience!

My family and I come here on a weekly basis. We luv the private baths and jacuzzi room. All though no fault of their own, other guests children should be taught that it's for relaxing. 🤗

We just went to soak but the staff was great, the water hot. There are 3 pools each cooler than the last. Kid and pet friendly. They also have private claw foot tubs to soak in as well.

Phenomenal experience once again and I have been going to the Symes through out the years and I shall never tire of the trip to get there. The moment I drive in to the parking lot I am already unwinding. As usual I'm always find something new about the Symes and it's historical past.

We only live about an hour away, but still love to come here to get away. It's a bit more rustic and vintage than most, but we like it. Some of the cabins aren't as upgraded, but if you like the old original vintage that's great. Plus they are more private. The apartments are great, roomy, full kitchens as well, and they have a front porch area. We've stayed with and without kids, in rooms and in cabins, it's very accommodating. There is a diner in the hotel, or you can walk downtown. Our next stay will be in one of the bigger cabins with the family. If you go onto their website they have a list of rooms and cabins with specific features and prices on each. They really are all very different. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

My family and I went to do a last minute soaked normally the pools are ok….. the pools were completely packed with a lot of kids which I normally don’t care but they were being loud and splashing. Not very relaxing and the pools were not HOT! After looking in the water I realized they were not very clean. And a lot of stuff floating in the water. We were there for about 15 minutes and left. With all the money they make I don’t know why they try to make the place better. They can do better this place isn’t the same place it was 5 years ago and it’s sad. One of my favorite places isn’t my favorite any more
The rooms are completely out of date and dirty and falling apart. The beds and couches were from the 80s and just plain dirty. I felt like I would get bed bugs there. (No I didn’t ) the pools are nice but for the amount we paid it should be better rooms. I will never stay there again. There is way better places in town for the same price if not cheaper. Go visit the pools, stay somewhere else.

Pools are great, people are friendly and the bed was comfortable. Hotel is as described, straight out of the 40s, as is the town. Rooms are dated but clean. Couple of heads up, no Verizon wireless service in town, just At&t. Also Wi-Fi is available but you have to go to the main lobby to get it. There is a lounge with comfy chairs and fireplace so not a big issue. Will be back

Good: Great location, close to downtown food & drinks, room was spacious & clean, and the awesome bed/ mattress. Large LED TV with Dish service... fridge & microwave
Bad: lots of people crouded into a small soaking tub with kids spashing around, not a place to just relax... tub in the room didn't have enough hot water available to use either...
Reservation was confirmed but wrong at chek-in... for the price, we'll look at other options next time...

Definitely a A-OK stay. Free coffee and TV, dogs could be let in the hotel lobby. Water was very relaxing. The downside to the hot springs was the lower tub was turning green by the half hour. Food was delicious too!
CashiiX — Google review
Old building. The hotel room had a bathroom and bathtub. Bathtub still had a wet towel in it when we checked in. Wifi is super spotty. ALL the water smells and tastes like egg water. The so-called hot spring at this place is nothing more than a glorified hot tub. Would not recommend.
Ivan — Google review
What a fun experience! The water was HOT and my skin felt so smooth afterward! We didn’t do the private soaking tub but I took a pic! Would be a cool experience.
Hanna Harrison — Google review
Upon first arriving my mom and I joked about it being a hostel murder movie scene. It didn’t get much better when walking into the building. The hallways aren’t well lit. The walls need fixed. The local addicts hang out in the mineral pool from the second they open till the second they close. The hot pool is always packed and it didn’t seem any of the water was really filtered. There were small rocks thrown in the big pool and leaves and sediment floating in the water. I understand it is a historical building and is very old but it doesn’t seem like it could possibly be up to code. The town of hot springs itself is a very beautiful town though. Lots of great scenery and wildlife throughout. If I ever come back to the Hot Springs area I will find different sleeping accommodations.

No parking for guests staying at the hotel, we had to park on the street. Check-in was horrible. The woman at the desk did not provide us with any directions to our room, pool hours, and no information whatsoever concerning our stay. When asked where to find our room she gave simple directions with a rather curt attitude. When asked about what time the kids in the pool usually clear out she was rude and said when it closes. I had to ask for my key when she didn't remember who we were upon check-in after 10 minutes of waiting for our room to be cleaned. She was friendly to family guests versus those who are kidless which is rather biased and we were there for a romantic evening. Will not be staying here again nor coming to use the pools again.

Went with 7 girls for a bachelorette trip on a Friday- Sunday. Started with losing a reservation, but they had a way to accommodate us. Checked in and found out there wasn’t any hot water in the apartment, which was fine with us as we had a cabin for Friday night that had hot water. The pools were way over crowded and not the clean blue water that you see on their website so we didn’t get in. Saturday morning there was a massive water leak in the apartment coming through the ceiling into the living room. Couch and chair had to be removed and a shampooer was needed to remove the water off the floor. We were planning to stick it out until they moved us from cabin 5 to “R2”. Let’s just say that it was so bad that we were thinking we would just sleep in the car. Owner was VERY rude and told us we need to understand that it’s an old hotel. Apparently general cleanliness doesn’t come with old hotels. We got on air bnb and found a house with much better accommodations for the same price we paid for the 1 night at Symes.

Cabin was absolutely disgusting!!! Had a junk yard to drive through just to get to our "private newly renovated cabin." Once we got to our cabin i walked through and immediately found; food left in microwave, oven never cleaned, dust bunny colony under bed, soap and other substances dripping from shower windowsill, this is just to start. People soliciting for drugs in tubs and around the property, man claiming to be the attendants husband lingering and rude in the lobby. Restaurant food was burnt and dry. People drunk and fighting around the premises. I can't describe how gross this place is and they were excited for the "newly renovated cabin" we were in so we shouldn't "have any issues." (I had picture proof and nothing was done about it!!!)
We won't be back and highly recommend shutting down and cleaning this place up in sooo many ways!!!

Our experience at Symes was not so great. We booked this trip in advance for a bachelorette party. We woke up Saturday morning to a huge leak in the ceiling . The response we got from the owner was “you have to understand this is an old hotel”. Although they cleaned it up, they could have compensated us for what we woke up to. Completely ruining our morning. Please do not stay here. Not worth the money.
Abby — Google review
It was my first time visiting Symes and will come back again. The Hotel is very dated with lots of historical touches. Don't go expecting luxury but instead a trip back in time. It feels a bit like you're in an old western movie. The place is about as clean as it can be for the age and lack of upgrades. However it's very charming and once you acclimate to your surroundings you get into the groove. The pools are nice and hot. The pools can vary in the number of guests who are soaking at any one time. We never felt like it was too crowded. The town of Hotsprings is also historic and has some fun gems to discover. It's worth walking around to explore. It's a poor community and it shows but go there with an open mind and you will enjoy it much better.

The Bison Range Wildlife Refuge is a vast native prairie land that serves as a sanctuary for various wildlife species in Montana. Visitors can enjoy viewing bison, elk, pronghorn, deer, and mountain sheep up close through the 19-mile long Red Sleep Mountain Drive loop road. A visitor center and several trails are also available for exploration. Non-tribal members are required to pay an admission fee of around $15-20 per car to drive around the area.
Unbelievably cool place to go to see bison and just about every other species of wildlife Montana has to offer. I would definitely talk to the people of the visitor sent her first to see which direction you should take first because the park is fairly large. Highly recommended!

Visiting the National Bison Range was an unforgettable experience. The sprawling landscapes and the majestic sight of bison roaming freely were awe-inspiring. The well-maintained facilities and informative visitor center provided great insights into the history and ecology of the area. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing our visit with fascinating stories and facts. The opportunity for wildlife photography was exceptional, with not just bison but also deer, elk, and various bird species. This visit was educational, serene, and visually stunning, a must-see for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

We are full time RV travelers and met our good friends in Thompson Falls. They took us to the Bison Range. It is well worth the hour and half drive through the range. You can stop and just view the bison and elk roaming free. Majestic animals are best when they are free. We saw Elk, Bison, a deer with a little doe. and Antelope in the distance. The employees are very nice and will answer any questions you have.

This was one of the best places to go on our Montana trip! Breathtaking views, and it was so nice to see the bison herds! The museum was very informative, as I am a tourist and had no idea about the history of the area. I am very happy to see that the local tribes have taken over management of this land and the bison herds. Staff at the visitor were helpful and nice.

Enjoyed a leisurely drive on the longer of the two loops through the Bison Range, beginning about 1:30pm. $20/car. Just a few sightings on the first half, but a few gatherings of bison towards the end of the almost 2-hour drive. No getting out of the car. First section was a one-way road, then it was divided, though no visible markers. Just the kind staff gentleman who was making rounds backed up to inform us.
A pleasant way to see the bison. Saw a few deer as well, but no elk on our afternoon trek.
Highly recommend if you’ve never seen these beautiful creatures outside a zoo.

The Bison Range is such a good place to go when you’re looking for wild life and if enjoy slow steady rides in the out doors. Many bison, antelope, elk, and eagles. Non tribal members pay a fee to drive around, usually $15-20 a car. Worth the money.

1) If you're really afraid of heights it might not be for you . It's a steep (at times) ride up a mountain 2) you'll definitely need a car wash afterwards. 3) it's a gravel road, so if you're picky about your car......4) It's INCREDIBLE! WORTH my fear of heights and we saw plenty of bison and an elk. Do it!

what an excellent place to go, this place is very well-maintained. The price was very reasonable, and just $10 per car. We had a great time we took the hour long drive, and we were able to see Buffalo, some elk, and pronghorn antelope. It was really cool just to see them pop up out of nowhere. The terrain is beautiful and it is well worth the time and effort it took to find this place. You will not regret driving out here, it is just a real special place.

Stop at the visitor center for $10 admission, and spend some time with the exhibits. Important history lessons. On the drive are gorgeous views! Saw snakes, birds, bison, elk, deer, and antelope. SO worth the 2 hour drive for us to get there. Take the long loop - you won't regret it!

The first time I went was in fall and the Elk were bugling, which was awesome to see/hear. Both times I've been back, the bison have been pretty close. I've also seen antelope and deer, but have missed the big horn sheep. Love that this place belongs to CSKT now.

Loved this park. It offered quiet views of the lake and an easy place to launch boats. We stayed in a Yurt here and cannot recommend it more. If you can book one, you should. Check in was easy and inside the Yurt there was lots of light, fans, heaters and a pole to open the top of the dome. You also can open windows from the outside. Spacious decks are also around the domes for enjoying the view. Bunk beds and tables inside the Yurts too. Dog allowed inside 2/3 of the Yurts. Bathroom facilities were pit and well maintained. We were too late in the season for running water (9/28). Loved the Yurt, loved the park, if you have time you should stay here!

Skiing area surrounded by national forest features 26 runs, a lodge, restaurant & rental services.
This was our first trip to Blacktail and it didn’t disappoint. Most notable are the employees. We drove straight through from Wisconsin and were greeted by the smiling face of Rickie at the ticket window. Although all the employees were friendly, Tim, located at the entrance to the Olympic Lift, was positive, motivating and complimentary to all the guests. It’s so refreshing to see employees engaged in their job. An added plus was the awesome view and being able to grab a table and bring our lunch into the lodge.

Great skiing and great views. Conditions were excellent and the trails were well groomed at the beginning of the day. Fast and efficient check in and we were out on the slopes in under 15 minutes. Has a decent snack/cafeteria. Only negatives were parking is probably inadequate on a weekend and the lifts are pretty basic for a western US ski location. There are way fewer tourists than whitefish mountain though so I prefer coming here.

The guys at the Rental shop were so nice to me today on March 10 Thursday. The bottom of my pole fell off and I wasn’t be able to plant my pole when I did a turn …..it just kept sliding. They fixed it for me and when I offered to give them some money they said oh no we would not take any money. They said this is Blacktail!!!I thought that was so sweet. I really appreciated the help. Before I even started skiing one of the guys from the rental shop helped me put my ski boots on which is always so difficult for an older person. I just love Blacktail. Thank you.

Fantastic family oriented ski mountain. Great vibe and fun atmosphere. If you’re looking for a smaller resort without the crowds then this is the spot. Also kind of cool that you’d drive to the top of the mountain so you ski down to the lifts.

Probably the worst part about this mountain is that you can’t use your family friend pass (comes with your season pass) if they’re out of your age group. My boyfriend is out of my “age group range” and we were slapped with an $80 lift ticket. I could’ve went to big mountain for that price 🙄. I think that’s the worst rule and you’re ruining potential marketing opportunities for that. Another thing is they don’t give refunds if they haven’t been open due to snow for more than a month. I understand the lack of snow was not your fault, but because you’re not even willing to partially refund for all that missed time, this will be the last time I buy a season pass from blacktail. It’s not the mountain itself, but the terrible rules humans put on the mountain.

My son and I had a great time and enjoyed the slopes here. The lifts were struggling to keep running with temperatures around -14 and below so we got to chop it up with some good folks at the bottom of Olympic around the fire pit. Beautiful place and not too crowded. Maybe it was just the cold but we will definitely return.

Also the skiis and boots performed and fit better than another place!

My wife and I recently spent two days skiing Blacktail Mountain Ski Area, a sister resort to our home resort Mission Ridge near Wenatchee, Wa. The staff was friendly, welcoming and engaging. Despite an El Nińo season the runs were groomed to perfection and skied amazingly. Lodge facilities were comfortable with a great brown bag area for families and a great restaurant bar with excellent staff, food and drink. The home made chili made daily was off the chart. I highly recommend a visit to this down to earth ski mountain with a relaxed vibe and stunning views.

Lone Pine State Park is a picturesque woodland park that provides visitors with scenic trails for horseback riding, hiking, biking and snowshoeing. The park features a delightful visitor center, walking trials and an overlook that is handicap accessible. You can also spot wildlife while hiking on the well-defined paths. However, visitors must be cautious of prairie rattle snakes which could be seen along the trail leading to the cliff at Lone Pine State Park.
The view at Lone Pine lookout is breathtaking! The visitor center is very much worth the stop.

Went up on an entertaining hike with the Bissell 5th and 6th grade field trip to the Lone Pine Park. It started with a fun and educational session for the kids with Ranger Kay, at the visitors center. Then a great venture out on nice open hiking paths, while enjoying the wildlife and other hikers as well.

Very Close to Kalispell, Easy Access Trails and a Small Education Center.
The access road is easy to navigate. Parking is out front of the Education Center.
Inside is a small but quaint store with local huckleberry foods and cute toys for sale. There is a small education center where you can walk around and see animals and interactive exhibits. There is a classroom where they hold instructional programs.
There is a wonderful nearly panoramic view of Kalispell from the main trail. From here you can continue on down the hill to other walking trails or walk back to your car.

To start with the obvious, the views are pretty awesome no matter the time of day. And secondly, it's a very easy hike considering you can drive to, basically, the top and park. If one chose, you could park at the bottom and hike all the way to the top. This isn't too strenuous of a hike either, but this being Google maps and all, it could get difficult for the hard to move around crowd.
At the top, whether you've chosen to drive or hike up, is a visitor center. It has all the usual, wheelchair parking, restrooms, and other facilities. I do believe it's available for rent, or reservations of some sort, since my mother and brother were wed there. (NO, NOT TO EACH OTHER, C'MON FOLKS!) You'd have to check with them for sure.
I'm any event, it's worth the trip if you find yourself looking for something too do that's close to the Kalispell area, and don't wanna spend any cash. 👍
The Conrad Mansion Museum, built in 1895 and now fully restored, offers guided tours by period-dressed guides. It is a significant part of Kalispell's history and boasts beautiful gardens ideal for picnics or leisurely walks. The mansion's Christmas tour is especially enchanting due to its stunning decorations every year. Inside the house are original pieces from clothing to cookware and electrical appliances.
Fascinating place with original furniture, clothing and toys. The guided tour is very worthwhile.

The place is fantastic. What a beautiful house and the story of Mr Conrad was awesome. To have fought in the war of the states and then made two fortunes. 9 million dollars back in the 1800,s WOW

Conrad Mansion is a historic site in Kalispell that is a well maintained museum. While impressive on the outside, it is even more impressive on the inside. It has high-end architectural features, quality wood and had 'modern day conveniences' for it's time. Lots of beautiful woodwork. You get pulled back in time into the life of the Conrad family. It isn't uncommon for there to a cheaper day annually for locals. They also have events around Halloween and Christmas.

The Conrad mansion is a beautiful piece of Kalispell's history and their gardens are great for a picnic or a small stroll. They've redone their gardens recently and they did a beautiful job. I've been on their tours a few times too which are all really interesting. Their Christmas tour is especially magical since the mansion is decorated beautifully evey year. My husband and I actually got married there so you could say we're a little biased!

Lovely tour, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and amazing mansion/museum. I’ve done several mansion tours in the west and this house was stunning! I loved the real artifacts and family stories that have been kept alive. I would like to see more info on the ground/architecture though. Thanks!

This building is a mansion, an architectural master piece with historical significance to the city of Kalispell. Spacious, lovely green grass and well maintained. I couldn't enter because I missed the time of tour of the building. It's affordable and their staff are friendly and courteous. Parking is on the street so try to arrive early.

Interesting historical home with unusual features. Look for the secret tiny doors built into the wall under the main staircase. Fun story. We took a self-guided tour but overheard the tailend of a guided tour. Guided tour would add to the experience. Check out the Faerie Steps nearby (search GPS) and how they are associated with the Conrad family. Photos are allowed without flash. I don't want to give away all the surprises but will show where to find the secret doors.
It was a lot fun visiting here! There was so much to see and it felt like we only scratched the surface. Most of the exhibits were very well organized although there were a few that were less cohesive.
Would love to come back again!

Super cool museum. The only thing is that it's not very accessible. Most buildings have stairs and no ramps, and are cramped so people in wheel chairs or with strollers etc can't really view most of the museum. Besides that it's amazing. You can interact with alot of the items in the museum.

After glacier national park and Flathead lake this museum was ranked high on our must see for our Montana trip. It was a wonderful way to spend the day. In one day it's impossible to see the entire museum but we only had a week. Thousands of great old items and wonderful metal art . Spend some time, make a donation. This place should live on forever. The amount of love and work that went into building it and continues to keep it going is astounding. 5 stars, the best. Don't miss it.

During my weekend getaway to Montana this museum was the highlight of my trip. ♥️ The owners were extremely welcoming. There were so many amazing things there. When I go back to MT I’ll have to visit again. My favorite things were being able to sit in the helicopter, the 1912 juke box from Chicago, and the old passenger Indian motorcycle. I love that they have things you can play with and interact with. Absolutely worth a visit!

Not everyone visit this place when traveling to Montana, but i must say this is a DO NOT MISS spot. This place is 100 times better than any famous American history museum. Ill be making a few social media videos about this place because i really want everyone to know more about it. It deserves more relevance. Worth every penny and i only regret not having a few more hours to spend here. Definitely an important stop for anyone traveling between Bozeman and Glacier National Park

This is by far the best museum I have ever visited, and I've been to a lot. Its not as polished as some, but it has its own flavor and you can't beat how interractive you can be with it. There is something for everyone, and the sheer diversity of what you can find is staggering. You can stay there for hours and you'll still only really get a rudimentary vibe for everything. I spent way too much time dinking around in the little UFO play area. Do not miss all the interractive gizmos there. I loved it. 10 bucks for an adult made me feel like a highway robber by the time I'd left

This is a truly interesting place. It's going to be a bit difficult to describe.
The scope of this museum's exhibits is truly extensive. There are exhibits and artifacts covering nearly every aspect of the history of how people lived and worked covering the early 19th century to the mid 20th century.
Out back, --- okay this is a very specific reference --- but it's almost like Valkenvania from the (bad) film Nothing But Trouble, but in a good way. There are a huge number of mechanical artifacts, some restored, some in their natural condition, some turned into welded found-object art and sculptures.
Some of the exhibits and artifacts are interactive, and these are clearly marked with signage, and I'm sure kids will love this. Even as an adult I enjoyed sitting in the Huey helicopter, putting my hands on the controls and looking around trying to make sense of the panels.
Many of the exhibits and recreations are finely curated, however there is also a large portion of the collection which is more "raw" -- personally I enjoy that. Overall the museum is on the lighter side with regard to the "interpretive" aspect of curation - to me, at least, in many ways this is more interesting than every single thing being labeled and explained - but one should enter not expecting signage on each and every thing as if it were the Smithsonian.
Got a chance to briefly chat with the founder while I was there, and he is a friendly and fascinating guy, and offered some suggestions of other museums we should see while on our trip!
Overall, this place is a can't-miss. I doubt you'll find anything else like it in the nation, and am positive there is something for literally everyone here.

This has been the best museum I've ever been to. We just spent 4 and a 1/2 hours exploring and were so excited to be there. Alot of American history and interactive, we got to sit in alot of vehicles and ring bells and all sorts! I can't recommend this enough, this would have to be at the top of my favourite days we've had in America & Canada (in 8 months) and we nearly drive straight past it and missed it. So much stuff but it's all so cool and interesting and so many different exhibitions. Some of my favourites were the old car sheds, the diner, the fur shed, the army vehicles. There's so much to see and for all of $10usd ea. The owners were greeting people and were genuinely interested in us. Thank you for creating this place, it looks like a lot of handwork, effort, time and money has gone into this Museum!

We have driven past the museum so many times, but never when it was open! Today it was! My husband (a history buff) was so excited and loved sharing and showing our son all the different memorabilia. Now, touring the inside of the building with a 3 year old....not a good time, but once we got outside...it was a new world! Both my kids loved it, my husband loved it and he is already planning to go back without the kids! Lol

Visited here with my wife, her brother, his wife and their teenage son. This is definitely an eclectic, roadside museum. It is WAY larger than it looks, with a ton of small buildings behind the large road facing building and each one packed floor-to-ceiling with all sorts of things historic, military or antique. There are a lot of motorcycles, guns, military vehicles and aircraft. There are also a lot of antique household items. My brother-in-law and his son especially enjoyed the large building of blacksmith materials. There were some interesting items to me (like the helicopters, some gigantic rifles, and -strangely- the old dilapidated carnival ride), but I got overwhelmed pretty quickly with how much there was to see. Honestly, a lot of times I wondered why something was displayed. The largest buffalo killed in Montana made sense, tons of spark plugs not as much. It was relatively pleasant though, but would benefit from some heavy handed selective curating. I wouldn't recommend this for small children, as there is not a lot to catch their interest that they can interact with safely. Half our group really liked it. The museum, as you might guess by the name, has a strong patriotic, constitutional theme. The overall repeated message is that freedom must be paired with responsibility.

Surprisingly large museum. I have been there many times and I always find new things. Every inch has some hidden or not so hidden historical treasure.
I helped for a handful of years in the blacksmith shop for the living history days. That's always a good time.

Hands down my favorite museum outside of the Wright Patterson. Obviously comparing the two is out of the question, but the fact remains; this is my second favorite of all time. The admission price is a bargain as well. I found myself throwing money in the donation bins out of sheer thankfulness of keeping so many awesome things from becoming scrap.
The Miracle Of America has more rare items outside in the dirt than some museums have on display. Although many displays are crude, or hastily put together, do not mistake that for second class. The sheer number of items simply could not be properly displayed. While the displays could have been condensed and the mishmash avoided, that would have meant never seeing some of the neatest artifacts of our history. These "extras" are normally locked away in storage. However, that misses the point. I WANT to see 2-3 versions of the same piece, in different states of use and abuse out in the open. I do NOT want to only see single, perfectly restored, versions behind glass and under blinding lights. The rawness shows the real history of the items. That smell, some may find as unappealing, is just another sensory input to bring me back to the time periods where these items were born. Each fleck of paint missing a story unto itself.
Anyone that is enthusiastic about anything mechanical, as I am, you will have the time of your life finding all the seemingly forgotten treasures in every exhibit. I, more than a dozen times, found myself gasping at the sight of something so rare I had only ever read about it. Eagle eyes will be rewarded with many one-of-a-kind treasures. Give yourself several hours to take a fraction of all of it in.
The Great Northern Bar & Grill, a classic bar that opened in 1919, exudes a vintage charm evident in its historic walls adorned with signs from long-gone businesses. We ordered fish tacos, Buffalo chicken wrap and the Northern burger. Fries were supposed to be with each meal. Fries came with two meals and they were so oil soaked you couldn't eat them and there wasn't much. I asked for lettuce and tomatoes for my burger and it didn't come with my raw burger. The Buffalo chicken wrap was cold and barely had any Buffalo sauce. So, being locals, we should of known better, but we figured we would give them a chance again. We will not be back. We also heard other tables complaining of the lack of food quality. I watched the guy in the kitchen use his bare hands continuously touch many food items as he prepared them. I also witnessed face touching in the kitchen as they handled the food. Avoid... Avoid... Avoid....
Go down south a couple miles to the Midway Tavern and get great food and portions and waaaay better beer prices for the same exact beer.

A busy, fun place with a good, old-school vibe. Lots of interesting locals. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The bartender was very busy but attentive once we ordered our first one. You order food at the back where it says "Groceries" and they bring it to you. I got the Northern Burger and fries which were yummy. My wife got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and salad. The wrap was dry as served, so be sure to ask for sauces when you order. The drinks were cheap, the food was reasonable. Also, they had $2 Rainier Tall Cans!!!

I read the reviews ahead of time but I had no issues. They do close the full menu at 10 and at 10:45 they were already telling other people food was closed. Took my friends here for lunch, and we were all very disappointed with cold chicken wraps and undercooked burgers. We asked for fries for our side and got chips instead with a cashier that was barely attentive nor seemed to care. We won't be coming back because the food quality is unsatisfactory for the money you pay. Locals deserve to have better food quality here in town despite tourist season, no exception. McDonald's or across the street is better sadly.

Only eat here after you observe the cooks in the back and make your own judgement. I personally would think twice about cleanliness. Lady there coughed into her arm thats fine. Scratches hair. Fills the shredded cheese bin. Pushes cheese down with bare hand. I dont know if it was washed. But thats the food area.

If you’re looking for just food, don’t be fooled by the vintage bar only look when you first enter. There are a number of tables and booths toward the back with, most often, plenty of seating.
I didn’t have any drinks, but for me, where Great Northern shines is with the food. First, they have had perfect health inspection ratings for almost all their recent reviews.
The staff member who helped me at the order area was very workable and helpful with dietary changes. I had a turkey sandwich with a side salad. The bread was fresh and soft. The turkey was very good and all the vegetables were fresh. The portions were a generous size.
Food or drinks, Great Northern is worth a stop.

Great place for a bar rescue team to come and get rid of these rude bartenders. Ordered food and was met with complete rudeness. Asked for napkins and ketchup and she pointed across the bar where I could go get them myself. No line at the counter either. No smiles no friendliness — curt and bad attitudes. Right next to my hotel and will not be returning. Pizza place across the street has much better beer and vibes and friendly staff! Why is it so hard to be nice?

A beautiful busy train depot. We arrived after 2:00 pm & they scheduled to reopen at 4:00 pm, however, they never did open. We are not sure what happened & there was no one around to ask. We looked forward to visiting the museum inside the depot but maybe next time. The outside is very well kept, with bright colors, clean grounds, & beautiful train art. The old bus out in front of the depot has a great history so don't pass it by. The evergreen trees were budding beautiful cones.

I've booked a round trip in state and had the first train canceled because of weather, got rescheduled for the train the day after I was originally supposed to leave, and then had that one get canceled too due to a "service disruption." Spent over half an hour on hold both times trying to get it figured out, and while the customer service rep was decently friendly they provided nothing that I couldn't have done myself through the website if Amtrak actually let you make changes on your own.

Amtrak cancelled our return trip to Seattle and offered the earliest available rebooking more than a week later, leaving us stranded in rural Montana. When speaking with a service agent after spending 45min on hold, the agent disconnected the call when claiming to look for alternatives. Any airline offering this type of service would long be bankrupt.

The building itself is pretty cool. We arrived about an hour before our departure and went into the waiting area. As soon as we opened the front door there was a homeless man laying on the floor. There was a not so pleasant odor inside. The bathrooms were not very clean. We went and sat on a bench in the park across the street until our train arrived.
Whitefish Mountain Resort is a ski mountain that also offers a ton of summer activities like hiking, biking, and zip lining. This resort is located in the small town of Whitefish, Montana.
Plenty of runs and wasn’t too crowded for right after Christmas. My kids and I enjoyed this mountain. There are more than enough instructors to go around if you’re in need of lessons such as my youngest did. Great place to start them young. This is our first time in Montana and we chose whitefish mountain because of its location. We were very happy with the accommodations at the local resort and the lodge itself is very roomy with lots of fires! The ski school was great for the kids to learn to snowboard for the first time! Ski terrain is very diverse, from steep glades to mellow groomers, the mountain truly has a run for all abilities! We visited in late March and still had good snow. It’s more firm in the morning so we headed to the back bowl to experience some northernly facing slopes and it was much softer back there. Plenty of pow stashes to be found if you know what your doing! 10/10 will be back again!

The weather wasn’t great the day we went so that may cloud my judgement but overall we enjoyed the place. There was plenty of parking and we figured out where to go after stopping once to inquire about the ticket office. The food we got in the lodge at the top was mediocre at best. The trail did have a confusing sign when we were coming down and we couldn’t find our way to the blue slope. We were avoiding black diamonds. We would definitely come back with better snow conditions and try again and pack a lunch. The resort is a quick 10-15 minute drive from the town of Whitefish and we absolutely adored the town. Had lots of fun checking out coffee shops and dinner venues and shopping along the way.

Fantastic variety. No one will be complaining. Trees galore, moguls galore, steep, gradual and choices to choose all in a single run from Summit (chair 2). Easier stuff on chair 3 along with terrain park and half pipe. Chair 11 should be experts only as all blues require a lot of double poling. Cute chutes throughout. Better value than any Colorado bargain hills.

Never fails to disappoint (we have been very lucky weather wise). Great mountain with lots of terrain to explore. First time bringing the kids this season, and they really progressed with the more advanced terrain. Bierstube is a favorite for apres.
Rising college-age stars perform in popular Broadway musicals at this summer stock theater.
In full disclosure before I review, my daughter is a cast member. We travelled to see her perform in all four shows. My husband and I kept saying to each other after every show "...no one is going to believe us back home when we tell them how absolutely professional and amazing these shows are". Our family has seen a good bit of theatre over the last 5 years (and paid much more for tickets) and are so incredibly impressed with the quality of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse shows that we just saw. The choreography was top-notch! Vocals absolutely stellar! Transitions were seamless. The live musicians were excellent. Also, I am not sure when/if I have ever seen better acting! Drowsy Chaperone was hysterical...the whole audience was laughing most of the time. Joseph was a delight on many levels. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was simply beautiful. Mama Mia was so great that we were still singing the songs in the car on the way home.
I will most certainly follow the careers of many of these actors to watch for their inevitable successes professionally!

We had a wonderful time watching Elf. They need to have roped lines for waiting in line though or some sort of organization. We went in the door thinking we had to exchange our on line tickets as that's the notification we got but found out we didn't. We were waiting for our daughter to park and join up with us & just stood inside. We saw the lady selling tickets say something so I went over to see what she said, she basically told us the line was in one spot (the lobby was PACKED) so NO ONE coming in knew where the line was, and that we were ALL crowding. Well if that's the case the solution would be to have some direction before it gets to that point in the lobby. It's winter folks no one wants to wait out in the cold. Other than that it was so festive & a great show. I would love to help out if you need.....

This is a wonderful playhouse! The actors are incredible! It's professional level quality! So excited to watch Mamma Mia this year, they did a performance a couple years back & it was hilarious!!! This place is awesome, and I can't watch to watch the plays this summer! Who needs to watch a movie, when you can watch a live performance... standing ovation, & lots of applause for Bigfork Summer Playhouse :)

I like the feel of the place, it was nice seeing the shows. They need to fire the old lady at the front. $72 over the course of two days, and she was crotchety and angry both times.

This is a local Bigfork gem! Summer actors are amazing! The are from all over and extremely talented. Winter brings the Children's Playhouse with the very talented and dedicated local kids! If you get a chance, buy tickets, sit back and enjoy!

Always try to see at least one show during the summer. Last night we went and saw the Addams Family. Such talented people, doing amazing work. Never disappoints!! Nice work and thanks for entertaining us! Peace and love.

A taste of Broadway and West End. Literally. Incredibly fitting to the charming setting that is main street BigFork. I will definitely be visiting this place frequently when we come down
We saw Guys and Dolls. Which isn't my favorite play but the talented cast members made it very enjoyable and entertaining.

I love the heart and soul that goes into keeping live theater alive at the Big Fork play house. Its an amazing jewel that should be attended often!

They put on great productions! Reasonably priced tickets, great quality, and I enjoy how roomy the house is--it's easy to get past people in the same row without feeling like you're about to fall in someone's lap! Plenty of stalls in the women's bathroom (ladies, you know how it is!) and the lobby of the theatre has some really cool artwork in it.
The Polebridge Mercantile & Bakery is an off-the-grid bakery and minimalist grocery in Glacier National Park that serves legendarybear claws and cinnamon buns. It's the de facto hangout spot in this tiny community, and attracts everyone from hikers to international travelers.
Polebridge was a must do on our Montana trip. I heard about it in a song by Owl City and it looked interesting in photos, so we made the drive. It’s totally worth it.
This is a little shop with souvenirs, a bakery and other types of food. No cell phone service and it’s near Canada! There are a couple big dogs that greet you and they are sweet. The staff here is friendly. The views are nice as well.
If you’re thinking about making the drive from Whitefish or Glacier, just do it. Don’t forget to buy a delicious bear claw.
Wade Williams — Google review
Beautiful mercantile and bakery far off the beaten path with well earned reputation for delectable pastries and bread. The huckleberry bear claws are famous and worth the trip all by themselves.
Speaking of the trip, it takes about an hour to get there from downtown Columbia Falls, as the North Fork road is unpaved in places with a 35 mph speed limit. The drive is beautiful in places, especially near the large pastures with the mountains of Glacier serving as a backdrop.
There is a good selection of souvenirs and t-shirts, and several old photographs of the North Fork a century ago.
Must stop if one is going into the Polebridge entrance to Glacier Park.

For a store in the middle of nowhere, there was a surprising assortment of fresh baked food and friendly atmosphere. We even had canine company while we ate outside. Nice to see the use of some solar power (as able) for transportation and inside the store. It was cold and rainy (start of the season), but we still enjoyed our two quick visits here. Maybe one day the road will get paved all the way, but it was worth the extra time and muddy conditions to travel up to this hidden part of the GNP area.

We took a long drive to Polebridge from Hungry Horse today. It was long because we stopped frequently to take pictures of the views. We heard they had yummy pastries and we heard right! I had the fruit fritter and it was delicious. We sat outside on picnic tables. They do have outdoor restrooms/bathhouses that are very nice. The mercantile has free glasses of fresh water and the staff is willing to give directions and suggestions to visitors. They have souvenirs and necessities. Great stop on our way to Bowman Lake. Take a map because there is no cell service around there and the roads are dirt and gravel. The views are spectacular. We did not stay overnight.

You looking for a good huck’n bear claw? Look no further! This place is a gem and what you have heard is true. Just visit this place. The drive up is absolutely beautiful as well. It is an easy decision, just remember to get there early, as it can get very busy. 11/10.

If you missed your chance to stop at Smith's in Columbia Falls before venturing up the North Fork, this is effectively your one and only chance for supplies. Some great local sweets and all of the essentials.

It's a bit of a drive to get to, but it totally worth it for the bakes goods - try the huckleberry bear claws. There is a nice picnic area and a place for the kids to stretch their legs after the drive. There are some souvenirs (t-shirts, cozies, books) in the mercantile for purchase.

A very unique place with a unique experience. Summer time is the busiest time. Winter they close the town down an only have the locals there. They all live mostly off the grid there. When leaving Columbia falls make sure you have drinks and snacks as its quite a ways to the Polebridge. Businesses are a bit expensive but worth it. Hope you enjoy! 😊

I may never visit Montana again. It’s been over 10 years! I worked their for 5 years. My 3rd 4th, and 5th year, I would drive to this bakery, 45 minutes away, almost once a week. They are amazing! Their pecan cookies are the best! I would kill for the recipe.

Polebridge is amazing. It's a beautiful drive to get there. Their food and baked goods are amazing! They have lots of picnic tables to sit and relax at. A playground for kiddos. We go up there often in the summer!

This was well worth the drive! It's really neat to get out in the middle of nowhere and still have amazing pastries. Everyone was super friendly there too. It was a good jumping off point to head up to Bowman lake and do some hiking for the day too.

We live in the area and wanted to visit this back country market and bakery. It is a historic site, being an active market since 1914. The drive from Columbia Falls along North Fork Road and along the North Fork of the Flathead River is beautiful, but mostly a rugged gravel road. Bring the best car you have available for this. They have various supplies for people camping in the area, but are also known for their baked goods. I got their fruit fritter, which varies from day to day on the variety and it was quite good. My wife is gluten-free and got a brownie.

Definitely an adventure to get there but a unique little community with a nice bakery and store. Yes I tried the huckleberry bearclaw and it was delicious 😋

Found their booth at the Kalispell Farmers Market and got to try their delicious huckleberry bar, like a brownie, and their giant cinnamon rolls. Really nice folks running the booth, sweet to the kids and all smiles. We'll definitely be checking out the Merc next time we're out that way.

Very much off the beaten path but the huckleberry bear claws made it worth the effort. I would recommend getting a Glacier Park North Fork vehicle pass to bypass most of the rough road between Columbia Falls and Polebridge. Take your time and enjoy the North Fork of the Flathead River and a side of Glacier Park that many overlook. Don't expect cell or wifi service so take a breath and enjoy being disconnected.

The food truck served many tasty choices. Inside the store, the selections from the bakery made the drive worthwhile! Did I mention the service? It was excellent. Everyone was helpful & friendly.

We did not stay in the cabins, but we visited this adorable little town! I love the Polebridge Mercantile! The shop was a step back in time, as was the rest of the town. I love that they are completely off the grid and they use solar and generators for everything. There are even a few places to grab lunch. The baked goods were delicious!

Well worth the drive. Great bakery with a long history of serving the Montana Back Country. You won't beat the scenery driving up Kamas Road, to the County Road into Polebridge.

We stopped in just to check it out, and I had to leave a review because we don't understand any of the bad reviews. We didn't have anything other than an EXCELLENT experience!
The huckleberry bear paw was the best pastry we've ever had! The girls working we're extremely polite and friendly. Idk what you expect of a store, their prices are their prices, if you consider it expensive than don't buy anything! We found the prices reasonable, I'm sure they've gone up - the cost of everything has gone up so they have to increase their prices to still make a living.
It was adorable, 10/10 stop on our Montana trip. If you're visiting and want to have a lunch stop or just see an amazing little stop in the middle of nowhere - you should swing by PoleBridge!
Dan Flaherty — Google review
My husband and I are road tripping and heard good things so we made sure to stop in for lunch. The Merc was adorable-they had everything from locally made jewelry, tea/coffee and even a small grocery area for basic things. We ended up with one cold sandwich, one hot sandwich and a huckleberry bear claw and ate it all in the little picnic area. The bad reviews left previously from other customers are nonsense. The prices are what they are for a reason, people need to get over it. The “vicious” animals? I saw two kittens which ferociously lick my finger and the wild dog was sun bathing. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop in!

Sheer delight! This place gave me the sweet goodness that I’d craved. It’s such a pretty drive up as you seek out wildlife along the way. Once there, the road opens up to a mercantile that holds the most delicious baked goods. (Along with other things) such a great treat!

This is a seasonal spot. According to their website they're closed Nov 1 - Mar 31, which makes sense given their (beautiful, mountainous, and very northern) location!
But if you're lucky enough to visit during their open seasons make sure you try a huckleberry bearclaw!
I thought the drive here was a blast, and it was absolutely gorgeous. We came from Columbia Falls area, so it was ~20mi down a dirt road skirting the western border of Glacier National Park. Stunning!
It was awesome getting to buy a couple beers and drink them outside. The aforementioned bearclaw and a pepperoni pastry were the perfect post-hike treats to accompany our beers. (Cyclone Lookout is a great nearby trail if you're looking for one.)

A fun drive to get to but worth it for the bear claws. The road outside of the park is in better shape than the one inside the park.
They also have a food truck with some yummy looking food.
Bowman Lake is a large, glaciated lake located in Glacier National Park. It's accessible via Camas Road, and is popular for recreational visitors and wedding photographers alike. The lake has great views of surrounding mountains, making it an ideal spot for engagement photos.
It was an amazing sight to see. Rough road to get down to the lake, but a must-see if you are in the area and well worth it. If you love nature this place is for you.

Limited parking spots. It's better if you have non-motorized water craft so you can enjoy this Lake in the fullest.

Down a long, one lane, dusty dirt road through forest and meadow, lies a lake near the most remote corner of GNP, and it is pretty! The campground was full yet quiet, except near the lake, and the restrooms were surprisingly pleasant. The water was clear and cold, and the lake bed was covered in pebbles that were great for skipping on the glassy surface!

Incredibly beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. It is worth driving on gravel roads to get there. I wish I had my kayak, but we just went for the view. The water was cold but guys were in the water fishing and some were kayak. It is crystal clear. You have to drive past Polebridge Mercantile, so be sure to stop there for a bite to eat. The place is peaceful and views are incredible.

Beautiful and worth the drive on the washboard road. Tip...if you have 4wd, turn it on...if you are able to drive closer to the speed limit, the bumps are actually easier to go over that way.

Nice quiet area of GNP. Not as easy to get to as some of the other areas in GNP, but I guess that is why it is more quiet. Very nice mostly flat trail along the lake. Bring your bear spray for safety.

True gem of Glacier National Park. The road out in amazing and has recently been redone. Be sure to stop in Polebridge for a sandwich and some snacks. The drive out takes a bit. Lots of gravel. Luckily we had the protections on our rental car so we didnt worry. When you pull into the campsite there's lots of options for terrain and mainly spots to choose from. I'd suggest arriving early on a Thursday or Friday if you're wanting to get a good spot as it can be busy. There are trails around the lake and other smaller lakes you can hike to. At night be sure to step out and look up at the stars. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Awesome experience visiting this lake, road to the lake was rough but was not difficult to drive.
Be cautious while driving, if you are not used to drive on rough roads and also while if it rained or raining.
Few suggestions:
You have to choose bowman lake campground for navigation for google maps.
Make sure to have a offline maps downloaded.
Come before 9 AM if you plan to spend a day there or after 2 PM. Or else you might not be able to find parking or enter the park. I went there around 10 AM and waited until 12 PM to get inside
For food, either pack yourself a lunch or get a food from polebridge.
Pack yourself swimwear as it will be tempting yo get into water.
Bring water shoes if you like to walk around the lake in water.

This place is great. Not crowded and very tranquil.the round to get here is so-so but not terrible. Numa Lookout is challenging hike but well worth the effort. And there is Ranger Fire Spotting Scope at the end of the hike. If Ranger is there it is your lake day because they my show you inside and explain how fire spitting works and show you incredible ancient trech they use. Swimming in the lake at the beach by parking lot is very nice. Fishing is also great.

My son and I took the half day Glacier Overlook ride with Swan Mountain Outfitters through the beautiful National Forest near Glacier National Park from their East West Glacier location. Caity was our guide and she made the ride very memorable and was always willing to stop the ride to make saddle and stirrup adjustments for the less experienced riders like my son and me. It just so happened that we were the only riders booked for our time slot, so we basically had a private trip. The ride took us up to a cliff edge that provided a beautiful view of Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas. Caity was very knowledgeable about the area, including the foliage and names/backgrounds of the various mountains. We were able to sit out on the cliff and soak in the beautiful nature around us. She even picked some huckleberries for us to sample. The ride was at a comfortable pace and included some inclines and declines adding just the right amount of difficulty for inexperienced riders like us! In talking with our guide, we learned how Swan Mountain Outfitters looks after their horses ensuring they are in good physical condition while not being overworked. While I didn’t have the opportunity to go horseback riding with another outfit, I believe I made a great choice and would definitely book another trip, possibly an all day ride ending with a cowboy cookout !

The worst customer service experience! My friend was visiting from out of state for a week, and I wanted to show her all that Montana has to offer! So, our schedule was pretty tight. When booking our horseback ride, we knew we would not have time that day to take advantage of going to Glacier Park so were going to schedule our horseback riding outside the park. However, the time we wanted was not available outside the park, but the lady taking our reservation assured us that since we would be horseback riding in the park, we would not have to pay entrance into the park. However, when arriving to the park we had to pay a $35.00 vehicle entrance fee. Additionally, when making our reservation we asked for direction to the corral and the lady ensured us it was very easy to find. We were to enter West Glacier Park and within 2 miles of the entrance we would see the corral on the left. This was not the case! You must turn left down a road to locate the corrals. Since we were looking for a corral not a road we were late arriving and could not call to let them know or ask for better direction as there was no cell service. Once getting to the corral I was able to get cell service and saw I had a voicemail from the corral stating since we were late, they were leaving without us! We ran up to the corral only to find out that no one had left. The horse were not even present! They were still waiting for the horses to return from the scheduled ride before us.! So therefore, the voicemail stating they were going to leave without us unwarranted. Since the horses were not even present everyone had to wait 2 hours after their scheduled ride time before being able to get on a horse!! Like I mentioned previously we had a pretty tight schedule so this 2 hour wait ensured that we were unable to make it to our next scheduled activity. When I called to explain my experience, the company was unapologetic and just kept making excuses like “well they were probably late because it was raining!!” and there was not a cloud in the sky that day!! I do not recommend this outfitter unless you are willing to experience terrible customer service and a very hectic and chaotic experience during what is supposed to be your vacation.

Do not book a elk hunt with this company!
My wife booked a archery elk hunt and we are avid white tail hunter and claim to know absolutely nothing about elk hunting, that being said there are a few thing that are quite common is animal movement, be in the woods before sun rise and don’t come out till after dark we returned every day with hours of sunlight left to hunt one day they where headed down the mountain back to camp at 3 in the afternoon. Let me back up for one sec. My wife also paid a extra 1500 for a one on one guide in witch 2 of the days there we didn’t have a guide at all! When we said something to him he did some speaking with his guides and agreed to give us back 750 to which we have not seen! Look there’s just way to much to write there was 0 preseason scouting done regardless of what snippy little comments he come back here with. The guides though they where super nice guys to have a beer with do not take your hunt or your money seriously felt like a camping trip not a elk hunt I’m just trying to help the next archer don’t do it! There are solid outfitters in the area when your at the airport or in town just ask a few ppl about them it’ll be clear! Now I will say the cook and the food where really good and the scenery was awesome but we didn’t go there for any of those thing if your there to hunt forget about it save your money you would be way way better off doing it your self! I promise!!

We were supposed to take the 2 hour trail ride but I'm not sure that's what it actually was. I was so focused on the well being of the horse I barely noticed scenery. My horse almost fell 3 times due to the steep and rocky "trail". Overall, I just felt bad for the horses the entire ride. I do not recommend.

Met up at base camp at around 3000’. Rode 12 miles in about 5 hours into the Swan Valley to the upper camp around 5400’.
Upper camp was a beautiful camp nestled amongst the tall pines with the lion creek running through camp. Our source of water for the week coming from the melting snow still covering the swan mountain range. Camp was made up of 6 wall tents and a camp dining tent. Our tent had two cots which would be our home for the week. The food far exceeded my expectations. Kris was the camp cook and she was fantastic. We had restaurant quality breakfasts and dinners every day. And her packed lunches were just as good on our rides.
We took two rides. One up through the lion creek pass into Bob Marshall. That ride was about two miles and took us to 7000’. After crossing the pass we found two beautiful mountain lakes. Swimming in the lakes was a great experience. So clear and cool. From this point we looked out across a vast wilderness.
The second ride took us up towards the peak of swan mountain. Couldn’t make the peak. Rode to about 7500’ in only 1 1/2 miles. Very steep up and back. Becky and I hiked another 500’ in elevation to get to some snow. Where we made snowman in august. The wildflowers up there where everywhere. Thousands of them. Despite being in the most populated area of the lower 48 for both brown and black bears we didn’t see any. We did see a few elk and had mullies come into camp one morning. Our guides were incredible. Matt and Kyle. So knowledgeable and provided us with a great experience. The pictures and videos just don’t do this trip justice. And the horses were so incredible. We rode trials that barely had enough room for all four of their feet. And the way they ascended and descended those trails was amazing. Some so step we had to lead them down. The stars went on forever.
We covered about 30 miles in 4 days and went from 3500’-8000’ and back. Such an appreciation for our horses. Mine was ‘hammer’. I cannot begin to explain how great sitting in the saddle feels and riding those trails. Montana I will be back. And if your looking for a top notch once in a lifetime experience visit Swan Mountain Outfitters. Best in the business.

Incredible trip! Took the 3 day pack trip ~15 miles in. Coming from Chicago, the views were breathtaking. The experience was rewarding. Although our group was comfortable in the outdoors based on previous camping, we had barely any riding experience prior to this. Don’t let that stop you if you were like us.
The guides (Nelson and Kevin) were informative, reaffirming, and listened. They took whatever concern you had seriously, and addressed it to ensure you were comfortable. It truly is your trip and what you want to do. Our camp cook, Stephanie, made fantastic meals, but we also found ourselves sitting at the table or riding the trails sharing stories with her. She was amazing.
The rides can be hard at times—very steep inclines/switchbacks. But, you need to and learn to trust your horse. They’re incredible animals—literal athletes in every sense—that the outfitters truly care for and you learn to truly respect/admire. The horses have done these trails hundreds of times, so you quickly learn to trust what you learn during your orientation, but more importantly, trust your horse when technical parts of the trail come in front.
Only negative/feedback I would give to SMO is to be more clear on tipping at the end of the trip. Although stated on the site and materials provided, it was still confusing at the end of the trip. All because we wanted to make sure we were compensating everyone appropriately for an amazing trip! Just caused a little frustration among the larger group but nothing to deter from this experience.
You’ll see views you would never be able to see any other way. You’ll experience new, sometimes challenging but always rewarding, things when it comes to the ride. And, you’ll make some friends along the way.
Recommending to all my friends/family. Thank you SMO! Will not forget this trip.

We did a 2 hour tour out of Many Glacier to Cracker Flats. Our guide was Dita. We had a great time! They staff goes over all the safety guidelines, helped my short person stature up on my horse. Dita was very informative and engaging throughout the ride and we get a cute pictures at the end. If you do not regularly ride a horse, I would suggest the one or two hour ride because it is a workout! It was the perfect excursion for something different on my husbands birthday. Highly recommend!

Our group of 5 had an amazing time on our 2 hour trail ride leaving from their corral in West Glacier. Roger and Ethan were great helping us get on our horses and doing the safety demonstration. We had a mix of experienced and brand new riders and they paired us great with our horses. Ethan was a great guide and pointed out plants and told stories about the trails we were on. The horses were all very well-mannered and enjoyable to ride. The views from the hike were also so beautiful and we all agreed it was the best experience anyone has had on horseback. 10/10 would recommend Swan Lake Outfitters to anyone!

We went on the half day ride to glacier overlook. We had a lot of fun! The horses are extremely mild mannered. I do believe they take into account your experience on horse assignments. I have been riding all of my life so they gave me a horse that needed to be in the back because he doesn't like having other horses behind him. But I didn't have any issues with him at all, he was a sweetheart. Our guide was awesome! He made sure to constantly keep an eye on us to make sure things were going okay. My friend rode who has very little to no experience and she had a lot of fun. This is fun for anyone.
Lake McDonald is the largest in Glacier National Park and offers stunning scenery, including views of Lake McDonald. It's very popular so be sure to get up early for your Glacier National Park engagement photos!
Went to Glacier NP in end of July for my daughter's birthday. The weather was perfect during this time. We kayaked on Lake McDonald in the morning. It was serene and calm with not too many people. More people came later in the day. Would recommend going early. The park had a nice combination of restaurants, gift shops, hotel accomodations and launching pads. The lake itself was beautiful to be on. You can see the mountains and beauty much better from the water.

Gorgeous views, clear blue water, and some of the freshest air you’ll breathe. We rented kayaks and spent a few hours paddling the shores on a relatively windy day. It was worth it, but in retrospect probably would’ve rented on a different lake or stream in the park. Ended up stopping along the southern shore and swimming, which was great. Cold, but great. The views of the lake driving up GTS road are phenomenal as well. Overall, worth checking out from the Apgar area. Consider a kayak or boat rental, but be prepared for some wind. And definitely get out for a swim, weather permitting.

One of the most iconic locations in Glacier National Park and for good reason. It’s super easy to access being right next to the airport and the west entrance. I would recommend this park it's so big that you kill hours here, enjoying the view and looking for wild animal and hiking and doing trails.

Beautiful lake inside Glacier National Park.
The colorful pebbles inside the clear water look beautiful. We found few people kayaking in the lake. Good spot to take pictures and relax outside of the more popular spots inside the national park.
