This place is an absolute must-go-see. They have the best collection of road transport vehicles you will ever see. The care they have given and are giving shows in every truck in the museum. Some are a bit rough around the edges but hey aren't we all. We are already planning a return trip and printing some of the school stuff they offer on the website.

Absolutely Loved It!!! So much to look at. We spent a couple hours walking around and enjoying all the different trucks and history on them that span over a hundred years. They have some very rare one of a kind trucks you can only see here. There is a Reo Theatre with short films on the history of the trucks. Great place to bring the entire family. The facility is very clean and spacious. The staff is wonderfully informative and polite. Had a Wonderful Time.

Free admission, donations encouraged but not required. Plenty of parking next to building entrance. Very well kept, nice quick stop for families, kid friendly, nice bathrooms and souvenir/gift shop. Large variety of trucks from all different eras to look at, all restored to like new condition. Easy to walk through, can do quickly or spend a little more time reading informational signs and take your time. If exiting off I-80, the entrance to the museum is a couple driveways past the main truck stop entrance.

So much more to see here then we expected.....and the cleanest, shiniest bathrooms ever! This museum is free admission but well.worth making a donation to. They have a lot of unique restorations that are amazing to see and read about.

Wow very interesting and there are a lot of trucks to be seen. They even have super rare ones and trucks that have been in movies. They take donations. Clean place. Gift shop was nice too. The only thing... there wasn't a changing table in the women's bathroom so heads up. Cool place. Worth going the place is huge.

Such a neat place, being able to look at all these old trucks that used to roll up and down the highways of yesterday and help build this great nation that we live in today. And for people that are worried about the cost of going into this museum, no need to. It's free if you find yourself rolling down the road in Iowa on interstate 80 it's definitely worth stopping and spending a little time.
James Nardin — Google review
Really neat stop on Iowa 80. Lots of different trucks. Some newer ones but of course there are lots of old ones, so it's neat to see their evolution. Also some interesting information about trucks and different engines. Even if you aren't necessarily passionate about trucking, if you like traveling and learning to gain more understanding of the world and other people, we would recommend this museum.
Journey With The Gs — Google review
An impressive collection of mostly-restored trucks from throughout the history of the trucking industry. I'm an old car collector who has seen a lot but this place literally blew my mind. The amount of unusual vehicles and the quality of restoration is beyond amazing. A must see!

I wish I would have stopped earlier. For the hundreds of times I would stop at the truck stop I missed this GEM! Make the time to stop, if you love trucks and the history of them. They are their to see in person. Beautiful!!

A very well managed and well preserved truck museum. Iowa 80 is not only famous for worlds largest truck stop but also this museum. It’s a must if you are visiting/stopping by Iowa 80. The trucks from yesterday era are kept here. The exhibits are from early 1900 onwards. The staff is very polite and helpful. There is a souvenir shop from where you can purchase souvenirs.

Old trucks have been restored to perfection. Be sure to visit the museum. You will see a huge part of history in one place. There is no entrance fee. You can leave a donation. Iowa 80 Trucking Museum

Update:
Wow! I got back when they are open but still without enough time. Their exhibits are great! If you are driving I80 and have a bit of time you will not regret a stop.
This looks like an interesting museum. I didn't check their hours. They were closed, so I'll need to go back another time. It really looks worth a stop!

This is a free museum. They do take donations tho. The staff were friendly. They have nice collections of unique trucks. Each one has their own story. The museum is big, so it might take about 30-45 mins to walkthrough. The gift shop also cute. The place is clean and inviting.

If you're into trucks, and the history of the modern day driver, it's a darn cool place to visit.

This is an excellent museum and a must-visit if you’re in the area. There has to be over 100 different trucks dating all the way back to the turn of the 20th century. Trucks of all kinds were on display in the large warehouse space with a helpful info plaque for each truck. One could potentially spend a few hours looking at all these trucks and reading the info, but that depends on how in-depth you want to see everything. The best part is that this museum is absolutely free! I went on a Saturday morning and the museum wasn’t even that crowded. There’s so much to see at this museum and I would definitely recommend stopping by.
Frenite — Google review
MUST VIST.......It's one of the best truck museums. it's a must-see if you are driving by I-80. The museum is free, and it has a good variety of trucks to see and explore. It's great for kids and families to enjoy the best part it's that it is free! You definitely travel back in time when being here.
Vast highway rest stop with a home-style eatery & fast food franchises, plus a vintage truck museum.
I've been living in Minnesota for the past 10+ years and finally got the chance to visit here. Highly recommend the spot simply because it has a cool title, free museum and a ton of stuff to look at!
I used to work at a truck stop and this one is VERY much better and has lots of items for truckers. I think anyone would enjoy their time here!
Lots of photo opportunities you can share if you please.

This place is huge. They pretty much have everything you can possibly think of for your truck. Plenty of parking available. There are several restaurants on site and a very nice size eating area. On-site repair shops and tires. Drivers lounge area. Video game room. Convenience store is full of necessities and snacks. Spend some time wandering around the main store area, there's plenty to see. Clean restrooms and shower. Navigate through the various gift shops located throughout the facility. You can also get customized apparel while you wait.
Van Strickland — Google review
Talk about the coolest truck stop, ever! There are tons of different fast food places AND an actual restaurant. So many different kinds of souvenirs, candy, drinks, ice cream, gifts, cool wall decorations, magnates, POSTCARDS!!!, trucker stuff, etc. The mist is literally endless. I would recommend everyone stop here at least once in their lifetime. This is not just a cheesy thing. There is some legit cool things here that you're not going to find elsewhere! I apologize for the pictures It was extremely bright in there! There are a couple gas stations in the area as well as a truckers museum.
J L — Google review
Stopped and had dinner and checked out the place. The place is huge and has a great selection of truck items for interior exterior and entertainment. There’s a huge convenience store for your snack needs and a diner that serves both menu items and a buffet. Didn’t get a shower there but the restrooms were clean. The place has 3 floors that includes a barber. There’s also a truck museum across the road but was closed when I was there. Overall it’s pretty cool and will be stopping again and again as I pass by.
Bruce Poolaw — Google review
It was my first time here but definitely not the last! The showers were very well taken care of and pretty. The laundry area was also well maintained. The third floor was being renovated so the theater and bathrooms were shut down for the time being but there’s always next time, amirite? Adored the various vehicles that were on display throughout the building. There’s a huge gift shop for tourists/travelers as well as clothing and truck accessories for truck drivers. There’s plenty of places to stop by to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner! We happened to grab a bite to eat at Iowa 80 Kitchen. There’s definitely something for everyone in here. Parking for trucks happened to be pretty packed but we were still able to get in nonetheless. If you’re able to, I suggest stopping here!
Aloha Kana — Google review
This is definitely the biggest truck stop I’ve seen! We stopped on our way back to Arizona at around 1am so we didn’t get to enjoy some of the amenities that they had available. I would say that they probably have everything for your traveling needs. There is probably not one thing you can name that they do not have! Great attraction to stop and visit if passing through. They have a few different restaurants to chose from, including the Iowa 80 Kitchen, and few fast food chains including Dairy Queen and Wendy’s. They also offer Tesla super charging, a chiropractor, barber, dentist and a dog washing area.

Good place to stop and stretch your body. Walked around the whole store. It was nice with lots to buy! Took a look upstairs to see the Trucker Theatre. I think its very nice an accommodating to have the laundry, showers, etc. for the truckers.

Clean bathrooms, HILARIOUS products (see some in the pics), and overall very friendly staff. They have a lot of great options for food, either from their selection of anything from snacks to sandwiches and such or from the several eateries there, like Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Caribou Coffee, etc. It was a fun experience, and they have a whole kids area with cute toys and interesting things to look at! Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through the area!

My family loves stopping here when trucking. Lots of trucker parking and a free museum. This spot is a lot of fun. They have many free services, a great restaurant, free movie theater, and overall a must for travelers to check off. The restaurant is excellent and affordable with great customer service. There is just so much to see and do here. They have everything a trucker would want or need when traveling, and lots of great services and easy parking are definitely a good stop for everyone. Don't forget to check out the trucking museum when you stop in.

We came during Truckers Jamboree and it was a blast. Iowa 80 is absolutely huge and has a little bit of everything. There is a nice size food court, an arcade room and a restaurant with buffet. Nice section for kids toys, sovereign and clothes. Lots of little trinkets and things for the rig. Upstairs has the lounge, laundry room, showers, massage chairs, dinning area overlooking down stairs, chiropractor, dentist and barber. Literally one stop shopping. A definite must stop and check out if your passing thru.

They have everything from toys for the kids, clothing, a truck museum, a restaurant, fast food--all different kinds, snacks, items for trucks, a barber, chiropractor, dentist, salon, showers, laundry, movie theater, you name it. Outside, they have plenty of gas pumps for autos a well as trucks and RVs. The prices were a little high on the gas. Bathrooms are clean. The staff was very nice. This is definitely a place you need to see.

One of the coolest place I’ve ever been and I’m not even a truck driver! We drove all the way from Chicago just to see it. It has everything you can think of from a Taco Bell to a movie theater to massive gift shops. This is definitely a place I recommend going to see!

This place is huge and impressive. It has restaurants it has souvenirs galore, bathrooms, all sorts of neat things to check out. We didn't need to make a stop at the time but we went specifically just because it's a cool place and my husband had never seen it before. It's worth a visit.

Huge place . Parking for 900 trucks. Massive volume of chromes and gadgets for trucks
Many things significantly overpriced. Many restaurants and buffet with American cooking. Personally I like fried chicken from them. Huge gift store with stuff you don't see anywhere else. Personally I like it. Clean place with 18 wheeler inside and some old smoler trucks. Worth of stopping by.

Very cool place. There is something for everyone at this truck stop. You can get things personalized while you’re shopping or getting food. We got a personalized license plate for less than $30 and it took less than 10 mins to be finished. There’s a bunch of restaurants to choose from inside and lots of snacks and gift shops.

Great place to stop on a road trip - the kids enjoy all the fun displays, there's plenty of food options, and you can buy little toys to keep the kids entertained for the rest of the trip. Everything is priced a little on the higher end though.

Exhibits celebrating the design, lore & popular allure of motorcycles plus vintage-bike rallies.
Sad to see this place go, but economic times move on. The museum has some cool stuff if you like bikes. The flow was a bit odd at times, and it might have helped if the place was set up by year, bike genre, or something other than we git this, and here is some open space. It's hard to follow for several in our group, but it's still worth seeing.
Marty Hogan — Google review
This is a fantastic museum but give yourself plenty of time to check it out.
The collection is incredibly varied and surprises are everywhere. My only complaint is that some areas of the museum are so packed tight it's hard to see a lot of the motorcycles. Seeing an awesome vintage bicycle collection was an unexpected surprise. It really helped tie together how much two wheeled transportation has changed in more than a century.
Altogether an overwhelming collection with some serious history that deserves more than a quick walk through.

What an awesome museum! Definitely, worth our 2 hr drive here. Very educational, and a ton of vintage items from our childhood. Love it! The employee on duty was absolutely amazing. So fun with a great personality! Highly recommend going! Bucketlist goals! ✅

This museum is great!
They also give military/Veterans a discount on the admission.
The history and the motorcycles are amazing!
I CAN NOT believe they're closing their doors in September.
It's a shame this museum and the history are going to be auctioned off.
I'm hoping someone with the cash can step up and save this place before it's gone.
It's definitely worth a stop and seeing all the motorcycles and other history.
See it before it's gone!

It was great and a great ride. 8-hour round trip 15 bucks is well worth it if you're into bikes Yes sadly they're closing September 5th I wish some millionaire that was into bikes would buy this. What a shame it's going to be gone .I feel this place is crucial to the lifestyle
Grimbiker — Google review
Neat little museum if you love motorcycles and their history. Not as extensive as Wheels through time, but still a cool place. Unfortunately they will be shutting their doors September 5th, so I rode out on a Thursday just to walk through. Took me about 45 minutes. Glad I went.
Mark Phillips — Google review
I visited in 2022 & thought I left a review, but apparently not. This place is well worth the admission, if you're into motorcycles. There are a ton of cool bikes here and different areas of the museum. All the bikes I saw, had info about the bike.
Don't go thinking all the bikes are "pristine/redone", because they are not. Some are on loan/donated and are used bikes, that would probably start up and take you down the road. Some are a blast from the past, whether for speed or a technical wonder for it's time.
The museum is set up nicely and was clean when I was there. I do wish they had more room in order to see some bikes better, since some areas are pretty packed.
I recently saw that they will be closing this year, and what a shame. I hope I can make it there again, before that day comes. I live a few hours away & well worth the drive.
blonde dude — Google review
Come while you still can, as this place sadly closes permanently in the first week of September
It's a great museum. I don't like motorcycles, and I still found it pretty interesting
I spent exactly (not including seconds) 1 hour and 45 minutes here. If you did not read everything, it would take significantly shorter
T J — Google review
This was an awesome motorcycle museum, had visited with my brother years ago, so sad to see them closing, all the bikes, memorabilia gone to the highest bidder, but good to walk thru it again
jsmithbuilder — Google review
I've passed this place literally hundreds of times each time saying, "I should stop here" much to may sadness I hear they are closing this year. So, I finally stopped. Wish I had gone earlier and more often it's such a treasure and it's so close for me. I feel shame. Anyway, it was fantastic. It lived up to it's "hype".
This 187-acre historic site features President Hoover's birthplace, his gravesite & more.
Historic site for the USA. The birthplace and first years of President Hoover's life. Everything around is neat and tidy thanks to the work of the National Park Service rangers. So if you are on the I-80, I recommend you get off the highway and take your time to visit this place. It's worth it.

What a beautiful place to see! We enjoyed walking the grounds and taking in part of our presidential history. The little house where Herbert Hoover was born, was absolutely darling! Be sure to check out all the buildings and read about them along the way! Also be sure to visit the visitors center and get some nice souvenirs from the gift shop area! I recommend this place for kids and adults both!
Heather H — Google review
This is a really neat historic place. Crazy how a poor orphaned boy in the middle of nowhere Iowa could become president. The presidential library was really neat as well. It’s definitely a step into the past. You need to reserve tickets online to get in, but when I was there you could also just walk in and buy them. If you go in February expect no higher than 14F temps and a cool breeze.
Henry Marks — Google review
I didn't know much about, Mr. Hoover...but now I do! Very cool place to visit! You get to see the small town he lived in, including his home, old school house, & an active blacksmith shop! The staff was amazing! Chelsea, was very informative on what it takes, being a blacksmith! This is a must visit, for any fan of American history! Very cool! The video in the welcome center was very informative! Here's some of my pics!

Middle of Iowa National Park unit gem! We enjoyed learning about our 31st president. Our tour guide Devin was so nice. The blacksmith (pictured) was very knowledgeable and friendly. Visitors center has a short 12 min film on request.

This was a lovely spot to visit with restored/preserved buildings. There were signs explaining everything. I didn’t go into the buildings because I had a dog with me, but I did glance in. We also took a nice walk on the grass trail. I was there on a Friday morning and it was kind of cold which meant that there wasn’t very many people there.

This was a very well done museum!. So pleasantly surprised. I loved walking the paths to take the tour of the different places in Hoover’s life. Our favorite was meeting park ranger /blacksmith Chelsea. She was so passionate about her work and life passion.
It wasn’t just Hoover that left you inspired. She definitely did too.
The prairie is beautiful and so is the whole area. My son and I enjoyed doing the Junior park ranger booklet that had us truly learning.
Well done:)

Informative film in visitor center. Staff very helpful. Campus not crowded so very nice. Blacksmith shop had demonstrations. Interesting to see his birth home, school that he attended, and Quaker meeting house where his mother provided inspirational talks. Very pleased with visit. Stamps for national park passport were available in visitor center. You park in parking lot outside visitor center and it is a very short walk to all buildings.

Enjoyed the video on Herbert Hoover in the Visitors Center. It was fun to walk and go through the area. We didn't have time to go through the Library and Museum, but we will come back at another time to visit.

Very nice grounds. I was surprised to see the president and first lady were actually laid to rest here and the memorial is very nice. Nice walking trails with plenty of big and old trees. There is something like an old neighborhood of late 1800 to early 1900 homes nice to walk through. The museum itself is great. Lots of history and story of the presidents life. The first lady was absolutely fantastic and such an interesting woman and strong, strong character. What do I remember now from the this president? I would say he was a great humanitarian who held office during tough and unforgiving times.
Herbert Hutchinson — Google review
There are not many Presidential Library museums, and this one is a little off the beaten path compared to most. It is almost a campus with an eclectic grouping of buildings, statues, a visitor center, and the museum all somewhat spread out.
Everyone on the property was courteous and helpful. There may have been 10 visitors total the day we visited, so there were no lines and we were able to tour through everything at our own pace.
We started in the Visitor Center with a shirt film, walked the campus for a few minutes and then toured the museum. It is pretty much what you would expect in small town Iowa. Kudos to President Hoover and all of what he overcame to rise to the presidency.
Chris Rehberg — Google review
Location worked out as it's right off the interstate compared to off the beaten path but that's just luck and geography.
It's a beautiful area with short hikes. Reminded us of Lincoln Home NHS.
Visitor Center was clean and free parking. Small exhibit and short film with a small store.
Got our Passport Stamp and kids completed the Junior Ranger Program.
Dedicated in 1962, this library & museum features exhibits related to President Herbert Hoover.
Visited in August 2021. Interesting to see the old village and the quality put into the village. Many buildings have been moved from their original locations to the current location at the Museum grounds.
The museum does a good job of portraying the life of Hebert Hoover and making the division between his personal life and his time as president.
Jacob N. Wienke — Google review
I came through August 19th 2020, very possibly the worst time to visit in recent history. It was COVID so most everything was shut down. Then they just had the terrible derecho so a great number of trees has been taken down by the winds. Some very majestic trees toppled, what a mess.
The staff was friendly. I visited the period make shift town and some of the out buildings. was able to enter the replica boyhood home. I thought the final resting place of President and Mrs. Hoover was very elegant and stately, it was beautiful. The grounds were well kept and manicured around the final resting place. So terrible some of the great trees were now gone however.
There is a shelter build out back by the boy scouts. There is a good private restroom there.
I was able to take a longer walk through the prairie like young Hoover must have. A very pretty place which helped keep President Hoover Grounded. My great great relative was his Secretary of War.
Windy City Blues Society — Google review
The museum is pretty small for $10. You can watch a 23 min video that basically tells you what is on all of the plaques in the museum. They try to incorporate items from the time period and less actual presidential items owned by Hoover. They could use some cleaning up as there is a dead bug on one of the books that clearly should not be there. They currently have a depressing Russian famine exhibit as well. They buildings from Hoover's childhood are free to go into. You can walk to the gravesite or drive pretty close and park, depending on the number of visitors. They say "up a hill" but it's not so bad. The staff is very friendly and likes to talk, but she didn't seem to up to date with the actual exhibits when questioned.
august fds — Google review
Very well done, smaller presidential museum. There is a small film to watch, then a mix of visual displays with very good signage. The museum tells a balanced, in depth story of his life from birth in a tiny home thru his death in the early 60’s. Hoover’s rise from being orphaned at an early age, being raised by his relatives to college graduation and economic success in mining, then government service and his one term Presidency. Hoover seemed to be a very talented individual, a victim of his times, and perhaps too humble for a top politician. Gained an appreciation for his knowledge and accomplishments. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good on site parking, no restaurant on site.

The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Museum, located in West Branch, Iowa, showcases the life and presidency of Herbert Hoover, the 31st President of the United States. It houses Hoover's documents, artifacts, and exhibits detailing his humanitarian work and the challenges of his presidency during the Great Depression. The library also serves as a resource for researchers interested in this period of American history.

I never knew much about President Hoover, but I can't say that any more! Nice museum - an interesting 22-minute introductory film, lots of artifacts, and placards. I especially enjoyed reading portions of letters written by Herbert Hoover - pre & post presidency. I wish there were more of those. There are other shorter videos explaining other parts of his life along the way. Especially moving are the interviews of people who were young children remembering being fed & helped by Hoover after WWII. The museum certainly informed & influenced my knowledge of history; I really like what I now know about the man!

I haven't visited a Presidential Library yet that has disappointed, and this one is no exception. A lot to learn, especially given the way President Hoover has been treated by some historians and media folks. You'll leave with a whole new perspective on this great man, and you'll understand why the All In The Family theme song says "Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again." Kudos to the staff, friendly and very knowledgeable. An all-around terrific experience.

History matters. Beautiful museum maintained by the National Park Service. Don’t let the feds scare you - this is a beautiful tribute to a President who despite his flaws represents what a boy from Iowa can achieve.
Stylish rooms & suites with golf course views, plus a spa, an indoor/outdoor pool & 4 restaurants.
The hotel room was very nice👍. The casino was beautiful and spacious, and the variety of slots amazing. Multiple restaurants within the casino for one to pick from. The staff extremely helpful and friendly, and although understaffed they provided a happy face and made one feel welcome. The swimming pool was awesome!! The golf course looked great although I didn't play it, I would have if I'd had the time to. Two thumbs up! Definitely would like to visit this resort again.

We love going there on the weekend for the live show and buffet but every time the seats were taken by the regulars who also “saved” seats for their friends.
It’s either first come, you seat or make the area bigger to accommodate more patrons. Buffet was not as big as it used to, less items available and they limit the days they’re open. Still appreciate that we have buffet near our town and serves our favorite crab legs . Get the crab legs an hour after they open for dinner since usually they serve the tiny legs on the first hour .

Very nice casino, but I never have much luck gambling anytime I go there. I enjoy the live music and layout of the gaming floor. Maybe loosen up the slots, and you'll get more of the Tama crowd to come there instead.

We love the Saturday night seafood buffet. This buffet is top notch. The dishes are more like what you'd find in a nice restaurant then the typical buffet fare. The shrimp are large, with a light, flavorful breading rather than the doughy, thick breading on teeny tiny shrimp. The food is presented nicely, is fresh, the service is fantastic, and the selection of desserts is amazing.

This was my first time at a casino. Roberts Buffet was AMAZING, but $30 per person is expensive and I can't eat $30 worth of food in one sitting! The room was interesting with the glass wall shower -- I'll request a room with a tub next time now that I know that's an option, but that was a different feature. The room, buffet, and casino areas were well kept and clean. The only negative was the lighting in the room. With all the lights on and even the provided makeup mirror it was dimly lit and almost impossible to do my makeup. I will definitely be coming back though, I may just bring an extra lamp with me.

Very nice casino. Took a whirl around the buffet and had 2 beers. I didn't go away hungry, but for what I paid I thought the selection would have more variety. $7 Corona's. I spent some money gambling. I had a nice time. The staff was very friendly!!

We went for Valentine's Day. So much fun! Stayed the night, gambled and ate at Ruthies Restaurant in the casino. The food was delicious!! I had the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese. Best I had ever eaten!! A little pricey, but I will do it again. Some had Salmon, Steaks, and Steak with lobster on top. They loved it all. The resort also has a nice pool and golf course, along with a clothing store , pro golf store I believe and another restaurant, plus a restaurant for the buffet. The breakfast buffet is one of the best you will ever eat!!! The hotel staff is great and rooms very clean and they sanitize very well!!! Barb

I booked online on Riverside website a king room when I arrived I was told I booked a accessible room which I wish I would have taken a screen shot. I know I did not. Can't really use the shower and beds too low
Room was quite dusty more so then I've seen in a hotel room. It was very surprising. I spent almost 300 dollars to not enjoy my room whatsoever. The lady at the hotel desk didn't offer any help. The vent in the bathroom also doesn't work so when my husband went to the bathroom the smell stuck around for hours. After arriving we went to the Roberts buffet. 81$ for 2 people. Also was very disappointed, Even the desserts were like hard because I assume the food was not getting rotated. Only thing that was good and be rotated was the crab legs I swear. And the service was very very minimal we had to wait 20 mins for drinks and then the soda was undrinkable. First time stay and the way this went it will be the last. Very disappointed. The room and the cleanliness was my biggest issue. Also hair in the bathroom, hardly in water pressure in shower, etc

Came out for the evening to hear a friend's band play. Decided to eat at the buffet beforehand. We had NO idea it was $40 per person! I'm a small eater and there is no way I can eat that much food to make the cost worth it!
Got a drink at the bar afterwards. Asked for a chocolate martini. They don't make those but the bartender assured me he could do it. Not sure what he made me, but I paid for a drink over $10 with no hint of chocolate in it. We won't be coming back.

Rooms are nice and clean. But I very disappointed at $300 a night to deal with a floor and room that wreaked of marijuana, and screaming and slamming doors at 5:30AM.
When I checked out at 7:15AM, the front desk associate did not ask me how my stay was, just if I wanted a receipt.
When I tried to communicate my concerns above to the front desk associate just said, “nothing I can do now since you didn’t let me know at time it was actually happening”. He did not seem interested or cared about my feedback at all. No mention of let me grab a supervisor, or I’ll communicate your concerns upward, no apology. Extremely disappointed in my experience. It was very poor.
Update 10/25/2023
Hotel manager reached out promptly to discuss my concerns. She was fantastic! She apologized for the experience and ensured a much better stay next time. I am updating my review as she went above and beyond to hear my feedback and make it right. Thanks so much!

Great place but lighting in the stage area, above the bar needs to be half rate or less, would make a much greater dancing environment, like the one in the quad cities. The lighting from the stage needs to give ambience to that area instead. The lighting from the casino area would be more than efficient to light the dance floor for visibility. Other than that... fun

Long line as expected for Easter Brunch at Robert's. There were a few sofas, need several more. Many elderly were struggling with the 1 hour wait. Wife said the restrooms weren't serviced very well. Overall, we enjoyed the day and will return.

Great place to go for locals, near or far. I know several friends that typically enjoy their experiences going to Riverside. I know that I enjoy it. You lose some, you win some. That's better than other establishments! You can play machines or games for hours so even if you go home without winning, it was worth the entertainment.

Always such a great time. They even let me bring my dog when I stay. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Hot tub is awesome. I was there to attend a poker tournament in the event center. It was very well run. They had a bar and food set up in the event center for poker players. We appreciate that because too often casinos neglect poker players and instead focus on slot or high stakes pit players. Ample parking. Great food options on property. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend at this place is the $17 a pack cigarette machine. If that doesn’t encourage you to give up smoking nothing will! (That might’ve actually been at the Grand falls location though) Ruthie’s steakhouse is a must! I wasn’t a fan of the buffet the one time I had it this trip . Entire Riverside staff is outstanding. I’ll be back!

Love Riverside. Always clean. Love the little Restaurant 22nd and Vine inside- recommend the BLT with fries- $12…great value. I live close so no need for a hotel room. I have seen several shows there, including Miranda Lambert and it was reasonable. RECOMMEND THE SLOTS. We are always lucky there!!!

I play at casinos all around the US. This place seems exceptionally tight. Very little play back for as much as I played. Your experience may vary and perhaps the place is better at other times but I won't come back again to find out. One of the worst playing experiences I've had in a long time and I play weekly.
ETA: In regards to the response below. Don't fall in line with the commission setting the minimum payout standards, strive to do better.

Edit- Reached out per request. Was called back and discussed somethings with that person. He was incredibly defensive and felt borderline rude at times. Could have been unrelated but felt intentional. He made me feel as if he was essentially trying to “poke holes” in our review. I understand the situation is stressful but we aren’t doing anything wrong by leaving a review of our experience. He understandably didn't want to discuss much of my mothers fall because they would like to talk with her. I edited the review to retract the front desk comment as that was “addressed”. Unfortunately nothing was solved from that phone call. I will give them credit for following up, most businesses just try to have negative reviews removed.
Usually our go to place for mini vacations. Never again. My mom fell down the hot tub stairs and they treated her like it was her fault. She was in a lot of pain so we decided to leave a day early so she can be checked out back home. The “Easter” buffet was pretty sad. All the food was bland, burnt or fat. The pool area was a complete train wreck. My mom very slowly headed towards the stairs and as she said be carful it’s slippery she fell down two of the landing on her tailbone and ankle. They couldn’t care less when I called front desk about it. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Great Casino and Golf Resort, probably the best one in Iowa. Great poker, good table games (I don't play slots) and hotel rooms are top notch. Some of the rooms could use a carpet update and a microwave should be standard but otherwise good especially for the price. Golf is one of the hardest/best experiences in the state of Iowa, if you are a decent player you need to play this course. Overall one of my favorite places in the area (I live in North Liberty).

We didn't stay in the hotel because the only available rooms were reserved for VIPs... 🙄 Super disappointed since we made NYE plans like 3 months in advance and still couldn't get a room. The concert on NYE was awesome, we love The Pork Tornadoes! The tickets were cheap and the room was nice and spacious but the actual dance floor was tiny and the reserved tables weren't advertised on the website. Overall, we had a great time without spending a lot of money or dealing with a lot of chaos or drama. The bathrooms were close, clean and very large and the ease of entry/exit was excellent. Highly recommended and most likely will return again even before the next new year.
I was so excited to see this. I believe they changed the marker, but it was still so very cool to see. There is a statue in town as well as banners on light poles. We didn't go to the museum. If you ever watched Star Trek, you have to go see this.

I had fun seeing this as I was in the area but I wouldn’t make this a destination spot. I was disappointed in the location of the monument in an alley and right up next to the side of a building. I would love to see this monument moved to a park and be surrounded by trees. Still a fun thing to see if you are nearby or passing through the town it is located.
Lauren Horn — Google review
Cool concept and very photogenic spot but kind of a missed opportunity with nothing else around the monument. The city has excellent signage directing you to the monument but once there it's just a stone beside a building and once you take a pic, that's about the extent of the experience. It's still cool but a souvenir stand or themed food truck or something would be a nice addition.

Not as well maintained as I think it should be, but still cool that someone thought to make it in the first place!

Great visit for a Star Trek - The Original Series (ST:TOG) / Captain Kirk fan, but also quite a bit of other Star Trek memorabilia including Data's desk from ST:TNG.
Best thing about the location is that the entire town is in on it: Star Trek themed street signs, post office, welcome sign, park, etc. Staff was very chatty and made our visit great. Definitely worth the stop for a fan.
Don't expect a high budget California attraction.. this is a fan funded place built from love of the series and supported by volunteers.

If it’s near your path it’s worth it. We enjoyed it, wish we had arrived an hour earlier to catch the museum open.

Go. No really just go. Museum is small but nice. Lots of great information and the woman working there was really nice and had really good stories. I didn't want to put too many photos because you just have to experience it in person.
Vamp Raver — Google review
We drove hours from our RV to visit this small farming town. You have to be a real Trekkie to make this journey. There's a small museum & gift shop, which both are unique & some items are very rare (for sale and not for sale) and others priced reasonably. The 2 ladies were very friendly and helpful. You can scope out the mural, statutes, stone memorial to the future birthplace of JTK, see the mini replica of the Enterprise, look above you at the individual street banners for each major Star Trek character on the roadways, and visit the post office that displays the 4 stamps enlarged from the 2016 50th anniversary release - all around town and it only takes a few minutes.
However, the location of the stone mural (which looks similar to a grave marker) has been moved from the main street (we heard it was originally a wooden sign installed by the founder, then behind a hair salon?) to down a side street in the alley way between 2 buildings next to city hall. It is in such a strange location! The area is so small & narrow it's not like you can have a large group there to celebrate, eat, or take large group photos. Perhaps during the annual S.T. festival in June things are much different. We wouldn't miss this stop for the world but once was definitely enough.
Rho M. — Google review
The monument is hidden away behind a small business so it's hard to find if you don't know exactly where to look. On its own this site isn't much, but combined with the other Trek themed sites around town it's a fun stop for any Trek fan.
This colorful museum is aimed at teaching kids about the world around them through fun & play.

A fun learning environment for kids. Staff are hard at work making sure things run smoothly, but you find things here and there that do not work (like trace board in the painting room). The aviation section, supermarket, pizzeria, and farm are among the most attractive rooms.

Love this place! We have the annual pass and it pays itself off with just a few visits. The kid loves it here with so many different activities to do. You can spend hours and still not see or do everything. Keep in mind, there are two floors with activities. Upstairs there is a room specifically for kids under 5, as well as a designated room for trains on the far end of the blue room. But pretty much everything is age appropriate.

So much stuff to do and see! Two floors of entertainment. There’s stuff for all ages. Lots of cool stuff on the walls to look at too. Everything is well bolted down and baby proofed. My wild 1 year old had tons of fun. We loved the quiet room to take a little break! The whole place is just really thoughtfully designed. Staff was constantly cleaning and wiping down toys and surfaces, and they even have baskets by the entrances to each area for toys that got chewed on and need cleaned! We’ll be back often for years to come.

A great place to spend the day with your kids. We visited on a weekday afternoon and it was fairly empty, which was nice. Workers can be seen frequently cleaning play areas and walls are equipped with lots of hand sanitizers. Good for children of all ages. Different areas include a pizza shop, grocery store, farmer’s market, open play area with stage and costumes, a bank, post office, ambulance and hospital, arts and crafts room, aerial room, foam building blocks, legos, play room with slides, and more.

My kids (2 and 4) love the children’s museum. There are tons of activities geared towards their ages (and older).
Many different activity rooms - farm, trains, grocery store, hospital, rocket ship, airplanes, skate boards, etc. mostly non digital activities (which is great), but there are a couple interactive screens.
If you are going to be a regular consider getting an annual pass. You can get in an hour earlier Wed-Sat and the pass pays for itself.
Museum is located in the mall - check the carousel or ice skating rink out if you get there too early (like me).

It doesn't look very big from the mall entrance so we didn't have high expectations but they are part of the children's museum network so we figured we'd check it out anyway. We were surprised how many activities they have! It's much bigger than it looks, with a wide range of detailed exhibit rooms for all ages. The air and space section is particularly impressive with multiple simplified flight sims for kids to try out.

I have ages 12 to 2 and they absolutely love this place. They learn so much through play. There is so much more than what I shared in these pictures and each time we go, we spend time in different rooms. The only downfall is having a store that kids can run into right by the entrance/exit. My 3 year old has a hard time understanding why I can't purchase a $40 box of magformers each time we go. I love that there are some reasonable priced items but it's not helpful when I would rather get my children into the learning section of the museum. This is a big struggle for us. Still, what a great learning center for the kiddos. I recommend purchasing a membership.
Area shopping staple with an NHL regulation-sized ice rink, food court, carousel & movie theater.
I like mall walking, selection of stores, movie theater & dining options.
Always being cleaned, staff is helpful.
Ice rink and merry go round are some of my favorite areas. Also, world class children's museum.

Great mall, still busy in light of many malls around the country beginning to fail. Vibrant, clean, great shops that make a lot of sense. Play area for kiddos, children's museum, Target, ice skating rink, nice movie theater, and everything else one could want at a mall in a smaller city!

I only went to one store, Best Buy. They ordered one item for me, and I purchased one item.
The staff were most helpful and pleasant. It was a joy to see smiling faces. Like all stores across the country, there was less merchandise in the store and less staff.
When competing with Amazon and similar companies, things need to change. That is expected.
This is a pleasant store to visit when needed. You won't be disappointed.

It's like any other mall, but its so much more than that. They are family friendly, great store choices, and clean. They also have adequate parking (and let's be honest, parking is always going to be hard at a popular mall, but they do ok) and good security. It really comes down to, would you want to shopping, parking, and eating outside going door to door in the elements? That's why I go to the mall. Convenience.

Brucemore is a historical estate built in 1836 encircled by gardens that offers tours, concerts, and cultural events. The property includes a gift shop and flower market. Brucemore is a lovely 19th. Century mansion. It contains original art and architectural details by Grant Wood. Especially charming is a small fresco on an upstairs sleeping porch. There is a great deal of beautiful woodwork in the main hall and reception rooms. Be sure to look up, to see the Classical-themed mural that borders the walls there. Most of the furnishings and domestic items are original to the house. The remainder are authentic period items. Keep an eye out, and you will discover a link to the Titanic tragedy. During this Christmas season, the home boasts 14 holiday trees, as well as many other seasonal decorations. In the growing season, the gardens are open to the public with no fee. The grounds are still recovering from the 2020 derrecho, so you will see many newly planted trees; but many large, mature trees survived. Brucemore is a great destination for adult lovers of history, art, and architecture. Because it is a "hands-off" museum, families with children may prefer to visit only the gardens. (12/2021)

A tour of Brucemore is always a pleasure and is especially so during the holiday season. Creative and beautifully executed holiday displays that encompass every room. Not only lovely trees and garlands, but the displays also include audio descriptions and music appropriate to each vignette. At other times of the year, interesting and beautiful gardens and outdoor events provide diverse entertainment. Large amounts of structural and landscape recovery have taken place following the damaging storm that occurred three years ago. This must have taken an army of dedicated and passionate supporters. Thankful for it.

Me and my dad chose to visit this place for my last day of staying in Cedar Rapids, the mansion and the grounds itself were very beautiful and scenic. We ordered the tickets for a non guided tour before we got there. The staff who scanned our tickets told us that it was fine to walk around the house and that everything checked out. The staff at the front was nice but looked at us a little weird and overall seemed off. My dad and I went to the 3rd floor first and chose to make our way to the bottom floor from there. As we had gotten up there a female staff worker had followed us up and said told us we has snuck away from the rest of them. We explained that we had the no tour guide tickets and she smiled sarcastically and preceded to follow us around while we toured. No matter what floor we were on she followed us and tried to guide us. We even followed all the rules, didn’t touch anything, only went in doors that were open, no flash photography, etc. It was tolerable until we made our way back down to the first floor while in the library, the staff kept giving us glances and seemed to be keeping such an eye on us as if we were trying to steal something. Then right as we left we overheard one of the staff say “they’re finally leaving.” Overall it was not an experience I would like to come back too unless the staff were to change.

After waiting for the house to open, we were turned away because we had not purchased tickets ahead of time. There was nothing posted outside of the house stating tickets were needed or that they needed to be purchased ahead, we were told we could wait another 30 minutes and come back for a self guided tour but weren't aloud to go at the time we were there ....we were the first people in line when they opened the house. We went ahead and left as we didn't have the time to wait the additional time and it saved our group $70.00. So I would highly recommend finding and purchasing the tickets ahead of time or don't waste your time by even going.

Such a beautiful place, the entire complex of buildings and grounds are so well maintained and offer a wonderful experience to visitors. I love how they are so active and offer great entertainment to this community. It is gorgeous in both winter and summer with all of the beautiful flowers 💐 in the garden.

Brucemore, a park-like, 26-acre estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is the site of a Queen Anne-style mansion, formal gardens, a children's garden, night garden, pond, orchard, and woodland. It is a great place to take photo, take a tour, or attend a community event! Check their website for events and visiting information.

Beautiful mansion, excellent and informative tour! (Many stairs, so be prepared!) Lovely grounds to walk around. Also, another exhibit hall with many pictures, history and some artifacts. Movies(!) taken in the first half of the 1900's of life in the Hall family: playing with their pet lion, behind the scenes of Gone with the Wind, and other everyday occurrences!!! Such a great tour. I highly recommend.

We had such a great time touring this beautiful mansion. We loved reading about the history of the family that lived in the house. We will be back another time, I'm sure. Highly recommend seeing this house if you enjoy history and grand homes.

Not a huge fan. This should be a funky hipster paradise, but it is pretty much a tourist trap. Most of the places serve more wings and busch light than they do Czech food. There is really nothing to do other than eat, and drink. It reminds me of the downtowns that serves tourist attractions without the attraction.

This was my first visit to the museum. The immigrant house was fascinating. As were the galleries.
They had several cases with glass on display. The docent said they have quite a bit more, it was just not currently on display. It would be wonderful to see more. Maybe next time.
The docents were very knowledgeable about their subjects and very friendly.

Went with my mom and this year my aunt to the annual Christmas festivities that they hold every year to celebrate the Czech Christmas traditions. Czech town has a few little stores and annual festivities in the summer celebrating the morel mushroom. It's called hobby days. Check it out it's a great time to spend with family and learning new things.

What a wonderful experience. Everyone was friendly, nice, and helpful. The exhibits were interesting and full of history. The library is a good place to start a genealogy search if you have Czech/Slovakian heritage. We were fortunate enough to get a chance to witness the Bohemian Garnets exhibit which is only at this museum out of all of the museums in the USA and is only here for a short time before going back to Prague. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

The village is a small area and it's very walkable and you can visit a multitude of interesting shops. Make sure you visit the Czech Museum since I found it worthy. I had very little concept of the struggles in this country and after a visit I came away with tremendous respect upon learning the history and endurance of the Czech people. This museum has an unusable way of transmitting personal struggles. You must visit. Honestly, I am not a fan of museums, but I do recommend this one. I especially enjoyed the film showing how this large museum was moved after a severe flood. Fascinating.

The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library is a cultural institution that showcases exhibits on the Czech and Slovak experience. It features a genealogy library, a Christmas market, and other attractions. Despite not being very large, it's definitely worth the admission fee regardless of whether or not you have any heritage ties to these cultures. If you're ever in Cedar Rapids, this place is worth stopping by along with other nearby attractions.

Pros: Some interesting history. Lots of traditional garments. Interactive displays. Nice place to visit for an hour or so. Friendly staff.
Cons: Parking. Price. Only about 30% of the total size of the building is dedicated to museum exhibits, disappointed there wasn't more to see.

Very nice museum. It had a bunch of pictures, films, music, really captured what it was like according to history books. Hands on exhibits, a house from the years, it's a great history lesson and it keeps children entertained with all the stuff to look at.

My wife and I had some time to burn between landing in Cedar Rapids and catching a shuttle to Dubuque, and we found this museum on the map and couldn't resist stopping in to learn some familial history.
We only had about 20 minutes, so I asked the staff for the highlights. We were able to rush through the Faces of Freedom exhibit in the Jiruska gallery and the Sleger Family cabin. The exhibits were informing, entertaining, and plentiful. The staff was so kind and understanding of our situation, and very knowledgeable.
While our time there was way too short for my liking, it's only prompted me to want to learn more. If I ever find myself back in Cedar Rapids I'd make a point to schedule a longer visit.

My husband and I stumbled in here, the displays were so informative and I love learning about another culture. We ended walking around for a couple of hours, the clothes and music were by far my favorite, the ship was also pretty cool. The gift shop seemed crazy high in prices but worth getting a couple of trinkets to commemorate your visit, the ladies working there were so nice!

I've known about this museum for what seems like forever, but had never visited until recently. So on a recent trip to Iowa, I decided I would spend one half of a day checking out things in Cedar Rapids and this was on my agenda. It's not a particularly huge museum, but definitely worth the admission fee to check out the exhibits on display, whether you have and Czech or Slovak heritage or not. If you are passing through Cedar Rapids, it's a good place to stop in as well as checking out some of the places in the surrounding neighborhood!

I visited the National Check and Slovak Museum and Library for the first time Saturday, February 3, 2018 to check out the Art of Accessories exhibit.
I really enjoyed the exhibit of folk art and the detail of the handwork that was exhibited. Also the permanent exhibit of the velvet revolution was very informational and I appreciated the interactive immersion of the exhibits.
I am thinking of joining as an Individual, renewable annually for only $35.00 a year. Gets you in free and I would be supporting the museum.
I had fun, would like to go back soon and encourage you to check it out. Admission is $10.00. Not bad for the few hours would could spend soaking up the history.
Also I watched 4 Bald Eagles fishing on the river from the entryway. very neat.

The Amana Colonies in Eastern and Central Iowa are a cluster of traditional German villages that offer unique shopping experiences that showcase handmade goods such as soap, brooms, and baked items. The residents of these villages originally emigrated from Germany in search of religious freedom and lived communally by cooking together and sharing resources. Notably different from the Amish settlers, visitors can learn about Czechoslovakian culture at the Cedar Rapids museum while enjoying fresh-baked kolaches or having a traditional Czech meal.
We visited this lovely little town Sunday afternoon, and there were not too many visitors. So we took our time to visit each of the stores, each of which has its own uniqueness and is fun to explore.
Unlike many other historical places, this place has not become a tour trap but still pretty much keeps an atmosphere that is one of the kind. We really enjoyed it!

My dad and I stopped in Amana after touring around Cedar Rapids and had a lovely afternoon visiting the general store, meat shop, and brewery. If you are looking for a slice of midwest life, make sure to stop by this region of the state to learn more about German settlers and the life they have made for themselves in the US. There is plenty to buy so make sure to bring that extra spending cash and a little patience as it is popular during the summer months and the winter holidays.

Amana Colonies is a small German town we visited before Christmas. We absolutely loved the general store and spent long time there to see all the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. The Amana Heritage Society in Iowa offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the region's settlers. Visitors can explore several houses with shops, including a large general store with Christmas connections. The heritage museum provides a video introduction to early settlers, while the nearby house offers two levels of further exploration, including artifacts like a radar range from the 1960s.
Excellent history not only to watch on a movie screen. But to walk and take in the true meaning of the Amana people and there hard but rewarding lives.

Entrance fee of $10/ adult seemed high until we saw everything. Started with the video about the history. It was comprehensive but it could have explained more about how the community navigated " the big change" when they stopped being a communal living situation. It would be interesting to hear more about the shift from individuals. Unfortunately, I am guessing the adults are all dead by now. It is worth your time and $$ to experience this.

The interesting history of this area of IA added another level of history that you may not know about the settlers of the region. There are several houses along the street with shops of different interests for all to enjoy. General store being the largest with Christmas connected. The heritage museum has a nice video start to give you basic understanding of the early settlers. Then on to house with two levels of further exploring and interest. Even the radar range that grandparents may have had from the 60's!! Enjoy your walk along both sides of the street, park in middle or ends to enjoy your time here.

Enjoyed the film and society site, but we were there on Sunday of Octoberfest. Saturday they had 35 K attend, the shoppes are very tourist oriented and prices seemed high. Many items were imports and not locally made which was disappointing. The staff were notably fatiqued in the stores and restaurants.

Great place to shop. Huge amounts of clothes on sale and to choose from. Great Furniture stores as well!!

I go there about once a year to do some shopping, but I haven't been there since the pandemic started. I was surprised how quiet it was; probably 35 cars in the entire parking lot at noon on a Friday? Not as busy as I recall; no matter, makes the stores easier to shop in! Okay place to shop, but nothing special.

Over half empty. Of the stores, some were filled with stock but lights off in the middle of a week day and a Saturday. Little selection in many stores but a few great boutique stores and the Famous Footwear made it a worthwhile stop.
Tanger Outlets needs to up its game & lower rents to attract stores.
It could be such a great place to have what locals and travelers need with some care and thought. It needs some constant hours for stores to meet.

Stopped for a quick visit however ended up visiting more than we expected. The pink card offer of 25% discount helped us this time as we were planning for a event. Based on my personal Tanger outlets visits this one seemed to have little more offer than other similar outlets(maybe were just lucky). Some employees might not apply the offer unless you specifically pay attention to the final check out amount. It happened to us in one instances and when we pointed out final checkout amount dropped considerably.

Stayed 2 nights, renovated rooms are wonderful. Wonderful front desk staff, the bar n grill has excellent hot, tasty food, casino experience was great, no masks if vaccinated, all staff wore masks, 95% of patrons did not. Was never worried. Games were paying out well during my visit.

For my birthday weekend we had booked a room for July 3rd to see the fireworks behind the casino. We found out after we had checked in that the fireworks had been cancelled with no explanation! The fireworks was the entire reason we had booked our room! The buffet was not open -- only Lucky's was open and the food was sub-par. No one to seat us -- had to wait. Finally got seated then had to wait an hour for our food. The server was great but the food and the waiting for it was not. Also noted that doors that had been closed for repairs at the entrance were still not repaired. We won't be back. It is a tired and run down casino.

My first time ever going here was a great experience! I’ve lived in Iowa my whole life and have never been here until recently. This casino has a lot and is convenient for those who like to play for long periods of time since there are many drink and dining options. We chose to stay in the hotel and made a trip out of it for my birthday. The staff is excellent and extremely knowledgable, friendly, understanding, and accommodating. They all did everything to make sure we were taken care of. Plus, we enjoy going to casinos in our travels and this is by far the most reasonably priced places for drinks, ATM fees, food, and the perks/points/free play are earned quickly and easily compared to any other. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys gambling. And yes, there is smoking, but all casinos in Iowa have this, and some have absolutely no nonsmoking areas. The only thing that was a little off putting was that kids are allowed in the casino and on the floor. I’ve never seen this here, but for dining it’s allowed.

From the minute you walk in the door you are losing. Even though they do not require you to wear masks if you are vaccinated but they never check so why even say that. The whole back side of the casino where the bar and the bands play is 100% smoking so that was not enjoyable to go in that area for me or enjoy the band. I never saw one person getting paid or hitting a jackpot or never once heard an announcement of any jackpots being won the whole night I was there. Every machine I played I never came out ahead on any of them. The food court was amazing plenty of choices you will never go hungry so that is a huge Plus in my book. Always food readily available. I drove an hour out of my way to go try a new place and probably will not be going back anytime soon.

Less and less impressed with the seafood buffet. The crab legs were pretty tough and dried out this time. The Asian section is just not good at all. The American Diner section only had 3 foods in it the whole time we were there and the fried chicken was really dry...usually great fried chicken! BBQ Station okay. All the shrimp was really good! The prime rib was very good.

At the time of this review, the hotel is under construction. However, it is always pleasant and clean every time we stay there and the rooms are very affordable. The only downside for us is that the pool is closed because it's part of the construction but you are still able to get to the rooms and everything else which is nice.

The rooms were spacious and clean. We got the opportunity of early check in. The staff is friendly and nice. Long ride from Waterloo but it's worth it!
Yvette Lopez — Google review
It was dirty! The smoke section needed all filters changed, they were visible dirty and even though there was a low attendance, it smelled heavily of concentrated cigarette smoke just going from the floor to get to the hotel. The food quality in the food court lacked and as one example... The ground beef patties were not cooked thoroughly and we addressed that. The server cooked two more as we asked him to cook it to well done because they were pink! Again, not thoroughly cooked and did not taste like real beef! The parking ramp was closed, both of the revolving doors were broke down. Machines did not pay out at all! It was my favorite place to gamble and stay overnight. However, it was the worst I've seen that casino and we will probably not return and instead go to Riverside! Hotel rooms are not as nice as I remember them being in the past. What happened to Meskwaki?

My son's father, who was 1/4 Indian, always enjoyed going here, even when it was only one building and had only bingo. Very happy to see how well they have down over the years The historical nature and the richness of the people who gather there makes this a must go if you are in the area. Great people run the casino and the travel Lodge directly in front of the casino.

It's a bit of a drive from Cedar Rapids, but it is the only place in Eastern Iowa that has "big bingo". The hotel was recently refurbished and the rooms are great. A really fun pool as well. The buffet always good and Lucky's serves a really great (and huge) breakfast.

Highest paying Bingo in Iowa. It has really gone downhill since covid. I sure miss those extra salty chicken strips they sold in the bingo hall. They have free pop/coffee in the bingo hall and casino floor, so that's a plus. The real winner here is the buffet. Bringo some cash you're okay with losing, don't expect/hope to win, and fill up on the food.

We went for the Friday night buffet. We hadn't been in a couple years so we were hoping it had improved. The selection on the buffet was less than before and it just ok. The price has gone up a lot - understandable like everything else right - but for what was offered, the price wasn't worth it.
Stephanie Findlay — Google review
I didn't visit the hotel I just passed through to get a bite to eat as I don't indulge in gambling (I have no reasons why you shouldn't, I'm just a math person and it's not logical to me mathematically).
As far as the casino itself, the atmosphere seemed almost like an overgrown arcade. There's even farmers in overalls on the slot machine. Were it not for the cigarette smoke I would've given it 4 stars. The place feels like a cigar lounge. It's smoked out.
The restaurant "luckys" is one of the few places you can actually breathe. It also has good food and the staff was nice and service was okay.
All in all I would have to say 4 stars on the restaurant 2 on the casino. Now my opinion is not the end all be all because as I said before, I don't gamble. I'm talking about strictly the atmosphere.
Peter Boudreaux — Google review
The smoke is overwhelming the moment you walk in the door. This is a great place if you smoke, not so much if you don't. The rooms appear to be recently renovated and are well organized and comfortable.

Got food poisoning from Buffett. Didn’t make it out of casino before started vomiting. Finally made it home and was sick all day into night. Public restrooms closed. So annoying, and they’ve been closed for months. Walked out of buffet and the smoke smell is absolutely sickening. No pool or party area for families. No salon, no RV parking, gift shop is so non native in a Native casino. Food has definitely gone downhill. No identifying poster or plaque to identify management. Definitely has gone downhill the past 5 years.

Hard to believe the detail on these creations. And the size of the Mars rover! Can't believe how large it is, I had heard it compared to the size of an SUV and this full scale recreation is that large! All the models are very well done. Definitely worth it to stop by and have a look.

This man's work with matchsticks is incredible. The pieces were huge and all meticulously done. There was a short video on display that told the story of how he began and how these projects developed. It was more interesting than I had expected. The woman volunteering was very kind and fun to talk to. Overall great little stop on our road trip.

Gladbrook Iowa! Really no reason to be in this town unless your going to this museum. 5 bucks gets you in the door to see some interesting items made from match sticks, not matches. A knowledgeable volunteer will answer any of your questions and a video on loop will give you the low down of the man making this stuff. Most of the real cool stuff isn’t here but with Ripleys Believe it or Not. But theirs enough here to keep you occupied for 30 min or so. Enjoy!

This is a small but fascinating museum. People never stop amazing me, and the artist of these match stick creations is an excellent example! The time, dedication, patience, and talent it took to build even the smallest object is astronomical. From the Capitol building to the sailing ship's sails, to the flying eagle - every single object is rather unbelievable and extremely impressive! This is an out of the way small town stop, but I encourage you to take the time to go. The staff was great! Polite and knowledgeable.

Extremely fascinating place regardless of your age! Patrick Acton is truly talented and demonstrates impressive work. It's very evident that he has spent thousands of hours handcrafting these pieces of artwork. The immense amount of detail and precision is what’s amazing. He's received countless awards and recognition (mentioned in Ripley’s Believe it or Not) which was well deserved.

Great recommendation we received at the I-35 rest stop just south of the MN border. Enjoyed this place immensely. Great price, extraordinary displays!
Great track to see a race. Beautiful facility, clean and easy free parking. INDYCAR was a fantastic, the cars could pass just about anywhere on the track. The indyLights or NXT Cars were about as fun to watch as the big guys. Concerts this year, let’s say the lineup was great, the sound sucked. Speakers were not synced so there was an echo. Sad. Overall we will be back!

Not a huge race fan but I enjoy experiences. I've been to the Indy500 and NASCAR cup series at Martinsville, Richmond, and Vegas. The track here in Newton is decent compared to the others.
Stopped at the Love's station for food before the first race. We had heard people mumble about the food inside the speedway and didn't want to spend an insane amount of money on sub-par meals. The people around us were not happy with their purchases. Luckily, the Chester's we ate beforehand was 🔥 and it cost us next to nothing.
Getting in and out of the parking area is a challenge. There are tractors and golf carts to pick you up depending on availability. We just parked on the outer edges and walked so that we could leave the area before traffic got backed up. Yes, it was a long walk in the heat (~20 minutes) but totally worth it not to get stuck in a 45 minute traffic jam like others. Not sure that Uber/Lyft drivers can get close enough to pick visitors up. I saw a lot of people have to walk to junctions at the bottom of the hills in order to get to their rides since roads were blocked.
As I said earlier, I'm not much into racing so we left during the laps and came back for the concerts. The sound was decent from where we were sitting. Section 301 the first day, and section 210 the second day. Be aware that people will try to sit wherever for the concerts and you'll have to tell people to get out of your seats if you're not there the whole time. There's also a lot of good standing room under the bleachers and by the concessions. The sound was still good there. I didn't get any echo until we walked toward the far edges.
It was a cool experience and I'm glad I did it.

We have season tickets here. We park in the RV terrace in the middle of turn 3. Awesome spot for us. If there is any kind of weather the track announcers are consistently keeping everyone updated. The checkin process is super fast and simple. Great people all around. Wish they had more events here!

Iowa Speedway did an amazing job this weekend. Saturday was just brutal with 100 degree heat and I really feel the track did everything in their power to keep fans cool. They had several cooling centers and multiple mist stations for people to cool off. Blue bunny was even handing out pop cycles. The racing was great all weekend. The concerts were amazing and hope they continue this each year. Thanks for the great event.

Iowa Speedway has had its' ups and downs since Rusty Wallace brought this track to life. The ticket prices are very reasonable and food and drinks are not bad either. We attended the Indycar race under the lights in 2019 and had a great time even with the big storm that rolled in. Indycar & the Speedway did a great job of drying the track when the rain finally stopped. It's a great track and very fast for the Indycars. Not a bad seat and convenient to concessions. In 2022 there will be a full weekend with a day race and a night race and big name entertainment. With Hy-Vee on board things are looking up for the speedway. Get out and enjoy some great entertainment at the Iowa Speedway.

This wildlife refuge is amazing. We were able to see the bisons and elks roaming and eating. I recommend taking the kiddos. They will love the sceneries and the wildlife.
Go to muenchies in altoona grab froyo foe the kiddos, head to scooters in altoona foe the carmelicious blenders and take a drive to Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge.
The kiddos can enjoy their menchies , you can enjoy the delicious and satisfying drink from scooters and all can enjoy a nice quiet ride thru the winding road and enjoy the beautiful sceneries.

I wasn't able to drive on the trails as they were much too messy with the snow, but the visitor center is amazing!! Absolutely amazing staff, really cool exhibits, and completely wheelchair accessible throughout. They even are working on setting up protocols so that visitors can borrow an all-terrain tracked wheelchair to explore the trails! I went this time to get my National Park Access Pass, but I will definitely be back again!

Worth a walk on any of the trails. Amazed by the variety of flowers and plants. Great views. No Buffalo in view today but saw a couple on way out of the park. Wish the property was open but it is open on a limited schedule. I did not find the limited schedule on the internet. Also with the facility would have better maintenance. Lots of little stuff that should be done seems to be piling up.

For about 20 years, we have seen the brown signs on the highway about this place. We finally stopped. We should have done it sooner. It was well worth the visit. This is a very nice, clean, professional, educational display of prairie life in Iowa . This would be good for any age, but especially school children. Very well done! The facilities are nice. They do have a gift shop.

The staff is very nice and very helpful! They are very smart about the Prairie and they Wildlife out there. They have trails to walk at different areas of Refuge. Nice learning center and a road that takes you to see the Bison and elk. You can volunteer out there to help collect seeds. Exhibits, a theater to show a brief movie and a gift shop. I enjoy it. You can go through the enclosure to see Bison and Elk.

Poolside rooms are great. Pools are great. Rooms are good. We had a great stay. Only complaints are 1. No breakfast and 2. Bars card reader went down and they don't take cash so after waiting for a drink I could not pay for it. They did have the option to charge it to the room though 2 pools and an arcade this place is perfect for kids.
Alesha Lamb — Google review
Hotel staff was not very accommodating for our needs. Hotel card reader was down so we had to use separate payment for drinks and couldn't charge to our room. Room was clean and nice, but smelled strongly of chlorine since there was a gap underneath our room door by the pool. There was also an automatic nightlight right by our beds we couldn't turn off during the night, which was bothersome.
Pools were fun for the kids

The inn is nice because it's right next to the adventure land... But they have no shuttle to bring you over there anymore. And then the inside of the place is dirty. And the pools are ice cold. There were kids who refused to get in it was so cold. The room was right next to the west pool which is great. But again the pool is so cold you don't want to get in. The place is okay. But for how much they are I would just get a different hotel especially if they don't have the shuttle bus to take you over there! over all I would just get a good hotel for the same price more or less then stay here again. Before we left there housekeeping tried to just walk into our room three times. Not once did they announce that they were housekeeping. This was horrible! We have children with us. It was scary. For that I'm taking away that third Star.

Avoid Avoid AVOID!!! This place is disgusting. For the price you pay, you should expect and CLEAN, enjoyable stay. Our room was barely cleaned. Food from previous guests under the beds and in the corners. BUGS everywhere!!! We couldn’t even sit in the room in the condition to wait for another. Stains in the hallways. Dirty pool. The front desk couldn’t care less. They acted like they must hear it all the time. Instantly just offered 10% off, no sorry, no Let us make this up to you. We left. Run Away!!!!

I expected much more for $189 a night. The rooms were run down, poor plumbing, and very dark. The pools were good at too cold for my toddler and infants to enjoy. So many unsupervised kids running around screaming in the hallways at night. At the price I paid I expected a breakfast or offices something better to buy then what we had. Beds and pillows so uncomfortable I almost joined my toddler in his blow up bed.

I was hesitant to book here after reading some of the bad reviews. My experience here was wonderful. Yes, parts of the hotel are a little outdated but room was clean and updated, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Pools and hot tub were wonderful as well as their swim up bar. very good drinks/ drink menu and reasonably priced. Swim up bar is cashless. They have a great gift shop with anything and everything you can think of, (toiletries, gifts, food, etc.) As well as an awesome bar and grill connected. We didn't go to the amusement park however the casino is within walking distance so that was nice as well. Only complaint I'd have, especially if I brought kids with, is the life guards. They were fully clothed and on their phones. How would you save a drowning child with jeans and a Hoodie on? They wouldn't even know anyways because they never looked up from their phones

I booked a hotel here months in advance. We arrived at check in time 4pm and the room was not ready. We were told the room would be ready in 30 minutes. It was not. We waited almost 2 hrs before being able to get into the room. We had planned to have a birthday party at 5pm. I didn't receive a text until 8pm the room was ready. The lady at the front was very nice. Once getting into room it was okay we had a pool side room. It was really busy this weekend kids running through the halls and knocking on doors no supervision. It was a bit run down and no swim towels. We asked for extra but they didn't have any towels for 45ms. So of you stay bring your own towels!!! The bands for the pool are extremely expensive i wouldn't suggest having a party here.I don't think we will stay here again.

As a Peace officer in another state, I have never seen such behavior from on site staffed security guards of a hotel. I would never recommend this place to any family. The security guards are unprofessional, strange toward children, and have I no mental capacity for what security is actually needed for. Do yourself a favor and stay at any of the numerous hotels just a few minutes away.

Rooms are falling apart, the beds are very uncomfortable. As soon as you walk in and see the carpet you can tell the hotel is not clean. The pools were freezing cold and the swim up bar was mediocre. The location is great especially if you're going to the park though. The campground is probably more comfortable if you have a camper.
Shane Carolan — Google review
Room did not have a microwave or a hair dryer. It did have a fridge, that was a bonus. The swim up bar was not open, which was a bummer. They would have made a decent amount of $ as we stayed there during spring break, and it was packed. Hot tub was closed in the kiddie pool area.

I don’t do this much but I hope I can help someone out! We left at 9:45pm. We only live a half an hour away and there for our son’s birthday. Just stay at a reputable hotel with a pool and it will be better. The west pool was cold. All pools were over crowded and under guarded by lifeguards. Kids were disrespectful in all the pools. The one good thing I did see was a good lifeguard staff, however, due to lack of parental supervision (this was the case during the whole time we were there) had to due their job. One had to jump in 4 times within a 15 minute period, twice for the same kid. Once the pools closed (9:30) the unsupervised children began running the halls. Rooms were ok. The whole place needs updated especially for paying $189

We got a room with a ground floor balcony which was nice. Unfortunately the arcade closes at 9 so we had to wait for the morning to use and it would be helpful if in the rooms there had some kind of information or paperwork about the hotel the area/restaurants and closing times etc. for the facilities. Opening and closing times are all over the place and posted times don't match online posted hours. Kids enjoyed the pool but the lifeguard needs to stay OFF THEIR PHONES!!

I can't thank them enough! We stayed Tuesday - Wednesday for my daughter's birthday. By that evening we realized we left a tiny remote on top of the headboard. I thought maybe they missed it while cleaning so we stopped back Thursday and were taken to the room with management to check. Unfortunately the cleaning team did a spectacular job cleaning and found it. It hadn't made its way to lost and found yet so we left our name and number and by that evening I had a voicemail saying they found it! Awesome! So we made plans to swing back by on Sunday. Checking the mail this evening (Saturday) we received an unexpected package. Adventureland Inn overnighted our remote to us!!! This was way more than I expected them to do for a tiny lost/found item. I'm very impressed with the extra step and kindness. My daughter is over the moon as well. Thanks A-land Inn, we will be back. ❤️

You are right next to Adventureland, but the resort needs an update. The rooms are recently updated, but still pretty spartan.
When we arrived our rooms weren't ready at check-in but they did give us a meal voucher. There is no shuttle to the park anymore which stinks. You get a parking voucher but that's a lot of walking and parking when the benefit was not having to do that. There should be a preferred lot up close for people staying in the hotel.
The highlight is the 2 indoor pools - those are fun for the kids and there is a swim up bar for adults

First time there. I kept hearing good things so I splurged and got an Eastside balcony room. Room was nice but not cleaned too well. The pull out bed in the couch didn't work. The fridge kind of worked but the freezer part was ice build up. Wrappers on the balcony and stuff on the walls. The chlorine and humidity from the pool filled the room. Burned your eyes. We adjusted we went swimming. That was ok. Only 2 jets worked in the hot tub on the east pool area. Little bitty kids kept getting in it. The hours on the signage needs changed. Says 9:30 they told us all to leave at 9. The bar didn't open at the hours it says. There's no clock to look and see what time it is. The east pool was so humid and chlorine smell it hurt my lungs. The second night my nephew broke out in a chlorine rash and was having breathing problems. Got him some meds and a shower and he started getting better. But does it really need to be so humid and strong smelling? Staff were nice and the restaurant was good. I feel it's all too over priced. It could be because of staff issues that the place isn't cleaned enough. But they really need to figure something out for the chlorine. It had so many hallways kids could get lost or kidnapped easily.
Natasha Welch — Google review
The rooms were in OK condition but had an issue with ants in the bathroom and powder areas.
The hallways were gross looking carpets and walls. Kids running up and down and banging on our room door. The east pool area was heated water but the air was really cold The west pool had much warmer air but no kiddie pool.
Breakfast would have been a nice addition but not offered.
Nichoelle DeBrouse — Google review
For the price we paid this was a huge let down. The upkeep of the building was dismal. The floors were truly disgusting to look at, stains and trash littered every hall. There was a slice of pizza on the bottom of the stairs for our entire stay. The breakfast ran out of everything with an hour and an half left of breakfast and the attendants just kept leaving saying they’ll try to bring something. The people at the desk were very friendly, but the state of the rooms and halls themselves were far below expectation. The room had stains on the walls. A dust bunny fell from the fan in the bathroom onto my face. The walls and ceiling were cracked and my so. Cut his foot on the flooring coming up in the bathroom. Seriously disappointed.and the lifeguard were wearing clothes. Nothing to indicate they were prepared to get into the water to help anyone.
Jennifer Sharkey — Google review
For the room price, it’s okay. The pools are on bad shape, disgusting and under kept. Two of the kids we had sliced their foot open on something in one of the pools (another reason we didn’t swim long). One of the jacuzzi’s was down. The room with the kid pool was FREEZING. We stayed in the other pool room but all in all only swam for about two hours. We went during spring break in hopes that they would have the swim bar open (considering they had spring break packages) but it was closed.
While we was in the pool, I noticed a “lifeguard” get down off her post, walk around to the stairs (all while not speaking a word or whistling or trying to get anyone’s attention) and by then I was scanning the pool to notice a little girl bobbing up and down trying not to drown because she was in too deep of water. I began to holler to the parents in the area that there was a child who couldn’t reach and thankfully the parent was able to reach the child. I’m not sure what the point of the lifeguards are if they are not going to do their job and alert those around them or even attempt to help the child.
Another huge turn off was that I opted to pay for my room when I arrived. When I got there the front desk staff told me that the card on file had already been charged. I asked why, considering it wasn’t my card on file, he said it was their policy. That is not the policy that I read when I booked the room. It said that I would be paying at the site upon arrival.

My family booked 4 rooms for a winter getaway. This was our first time there. Here are my impressions: the hall carpets look like crime scenes with stains everywhere; there are no microwaves available except all the way down in their store; the whole facility is in dire need of a face lift/fresh coat of paint. I can overlook the things I just mentioned, but the one thing I can NOT overlook is the lack of attention paid by the lifeguards. I took my grandchildren to the "kiddy pool" (once it opened.... it had been closed since someone fell and got hurt there right before we arrived). The lifeguard on duty did not look up at the kids in the water even one time. Seriously, not once. He was so involved in stripping the covering off his lifesaving buoy and putting it back on that watching his charges couldn't be done. I approached him at the end of his shift and mentioned my concern to him, but he didn't care. The front desk didn't care. I asked the manager to call me and never got a call. Warning: Swim at your own risk. Kids should not be left unattended at their pool!!!! To top it off, the hot tubs' jets weren't working either. 🤔 Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and it's one we likely won't return to.

This place was NASTY! We went for the “water park” which it may have been at one time, but the slides and everything have been taken out so it is just two pools. We were in the pool for all of ten minutes until we pivoted and tried to find anything else to do in the are. The pools have not been cleaned in ages as the entire thing was rimmed with grime. Very run down rooms… feels slightly unsafe. I feel bad leaving such a bad review but wow this place is good awful. Do not go! Literally any other hotel with a pool will be a better choice.
Rebekah Brown — Google review
This place is in dire need of some TLC. The rooms have open bolts showing on the floors and holes in the ceiling. They are not nearly as large or arranged anything like the websites show. The hallways look like they are never vacuumed or cleaned. It was sooo LOUD until after midnight! My family really enjoyed the pool area and the lifeguards were staffed and attentive, but there was only one bartender at the swim up bar for a very crowded place who seemed to be very overwhelmed and took hourly breaks. We waited a hour for check in and were not given any details about pool times or breakfast, and the QRL codes everywhere in the room only attached to a survey, nothing else. For the price we paid, I would anticipate pampered amenities. Instead, it all had the feel of a 1970s Motel 6. Would not recommend and we won’t be back
The Iowa State Fairgrounds is a large, open-air venue that hosts many events throughout the year. It's one of the oldest state fairs in the country and is known for its agricultural displays, carnival rides and competitions.
I made a point of going by myself so I wasn't slowed down by anyone else. There's so much to see and hear and taste. I had a blast. Got to pet horses, ride in tractors, eat root beer floats, buy t-shirts. I love the fair. I can't wait for next year. It's the best!

This place is HUGE and worth the trip! There is a reason why it’s on the top things to do before you die. Every kind of food - every kind of vendor - every kind of farm animal and so much of it is unique. The Ye Old Mill and the Sky Glider are petty cool. Plus the butter cow is a classic that is worth the wait. It’s one of a kind and just a piece of state fair history.

World class entertainment. Wonderful returning and new fair foods. Awesome fireworks show after every grandstand concert. Great free educational and interesting activities for all.
What I wish the fair would do is add lines in the grandstands for water. People who want to purchase water shouldn't have to wait in mile long, beer lines just to buy water, especially when the heat index is 105°.

Great place for some family fun. So much to do I would recommend 2 days or more. 1st day of the fair is slightly less busy and great day to start. Place is clean and lots of staff or volunteers that were willing to help. Map was great to let you know what the schedule of activities were and how to get around. Bring lots of money as food is 8+ dollars on average per item. Water ran 3$ a bottle.

So thankful to have the fair back this year! I happily go every year. No matter the weather, it's an awesome event.
I take my time and see everything. Go through every building and barn. Ride some rides. Try some different foods. Get my face painted. Listen to live music. Learn something during a show. Watch a parade. Buy a trinket or do a personality test. Play games in the midway. Watch a talent show. Taste some wine or beer. Look at farm machinery. Hold a snake. Sometimes enjoy a concert or 2. Ride a tractor trolly. Collect some freebies at various vendors. Do a portrait. Watch a cooking demonstration.
It's amazing to see families and groups of every religion, size, age, shape, and color all having a good time at a common event. Makes my heart full. Here's to another 100 years of State Fair!

My first experience at the Iowa State Fair. So glad we were able to go! Very crowded, of course, but no particularly long lines which was nice. Surprised to learn that additional tickets were needed for the house show, but it is what it is. Enjoyed the butter cow and seeing the grand champions!

It was so awesome to see because I had never been there. Everything was nice and clean and easy to get around.

Born and raised in Iowa moved around as military wife around US and currently a truckers wife of 18 years that's been to 47 of the lower 48 and nothing compares to Iowa state Fair.
I'm now grandma and love passing down the traditions of spending our last few days of summer before school starts showing the Iowa love to them.
It definitely has had a lot of changes and changes are hard but it seriously is worth spending at least 1 full day if not all 11 days enjoying Iowa Pride.
My oldest grands are aging out of kids activities like little hands on the farm and little kid stuff but we had an amazing day doing things people of all ages do.
We have a large family and usually have at least one family or friend involved in the events somehow. This year we had my uncle enter a pumpkin and a cousin that won lots of ribbons with her sheep.
Even if you don't know someone going in you will make a new friend before you leave.

Nice and neat and well organized! Lots of convenient parking. Enjoyed the tram ride over the fairgrounds, a relaxing way to take it all in. Pecan pie with bacon on a stick, corn dog, pork chop on a stick, root beer float and tasty daiquiri. 😋

Great time at the fair this year! We rode some rides (some smaller rides near the Craft Beer Tent and some bigger rides near the Barksdale cookie stand), ate lots of food (be sure to try a Crescenti) and went to a couple of concerts (the fireworks were great). This is the best state fair in the US!

It’s a LOT. With all of the different exhibits and shows, if you want to see/do everything you’ll need multiple days. OR you can hit the main highlights in 1 day if you keep it at a full sprint and skip most of the entertainment. But why even bother going then.
Parking is always a concern for people. There is a city ran shuttle that’s cheap if you park at other places like the capital. You can pay for parking close by. We chose to park on the street a mile or so away and just make the walk.
Traffic can be terrible on the main roads at different times of the day (Eg. Before a concert). If you see that, don’t be afraid to get off the main highway and drive through the neighborhoods to wind your way there.

Nice area. Everything is spaced out just enough. So much food & drinks! Iowa is fortunate & blessed to have such a nice area, along with buildings and grounds that are well maintained.

I'm not normally a fair goer, but my job brought me to Des Moines, and it's the Iowa State Fair!!!
First, parking was accessible, affordable. Second, the entry $ was about average.
Third- the fairgrounds is MASSIVE! I was blown away. The midway just kept going and going!!
I haven't been to a state fair in several years. I like to eat fair food, and go check out the animals, and people watch. This fair did not disappoint!!
Well done, Iowa!
Jason Weaver — Google review
Grandstand was bigger than I thought. Neat looking building. There are a few mega TV's which was helpful during the concert. The fair was large but fun. There are a ton of different vendors available. The rides are fun and you get point cards at kiosks you use for rides and games. They can be reloaded with points and used over and over again. I found that it was easier to take a Uber or Lyft and leave the car at the hotel. Lyft going there and Uber to go home worked best. Fun time!
The Iowa State Capitol building is a beautiful, ornate structure that is home to many different government offices. The dome of the building is especially impressive and can be seen from many different angles across Des Moines. There are regular tours available here that allow visitors to learn more about the history of the building as well as the state of Iowa.
We have visited other state capitol buildings and this one is very unique with the gold center dome and 4 green domes on the 4 corners of the building. Neat statues are found surrounding the property. You can enter the building and explore the art and architecture inside and out. The interior is pretty amazing too.

Very friendly staff and representatives. Interesting historical items throughout. Great way to learn about the state history while meeting with people who are currently in state government. Plenty of parking around, interesting art pieces around and on the grounds.
Christian Ahangar — Google review
An incredible experience, from the library to the dome, every part of it is worth checking out. If you plan on trekking up to the very top, be ready for a work out!
A lot of exhibits from Iowa's history, and some great places for pictures. They also have a stamp at the front check-in for if you brought a US Capitol passport, and there is plenty of free parking around

Lived here for over 10 years and have never taken a tour, until today. We walked right in at 10 AM and Diane gave my wife and I an incredible tour of the Capitol. She was very knowledgeable on the history of the Capitol and the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend doing this tour, I have a much deeper appreciation of our state Capitol.

Enjoyed the free tour of the capitol building. Dogs are allowed inside except near the top dome. 5 storey library is the show stopper. The tour guide had a great sense of humor!! Gold leaf coated dome shines bright and attracts the tourists. Worth the visit😀

We visited here from Louisiana and this tour was the best! We learned so much about Iowa's history from the hour tour of the capital building and loved every minute of it. My youngest daughter and I went back a 2nd time on a different day simply to see it once again since it was so neat the first time after we took the tour and learned about the building. The 2nd time we wondered alone and took our own time to view and take pictures of things. We went all the way to the top. On the tour we climbed all the stairs and I realized how out of shape I was on the way up since I had to stop a rest halfway up the stairs going to the top of the tower. The library was one of our favorite rooms but the entire building was so rich with history. If you have the opportunity to check out this place out, don't skip it, it's a must see in my opinion and a great free tour! The gift shop was small but was one of the best in town and we got almost all of our souvenirs for our family back home there. I swear I bought the cutest Keychain in all of Des Moines here too!

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Iowa State Capitol in FEB_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Iowa's history and legacy.
We did a plant tour and for sure it's a remarkable building.
Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.

This building is absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth a trip. Try to catch a free tour if possible. My tour guide was great and took us to a lot more areas than you would be able to see if walking around alone.

Super iconic and really beautiful up close and far away with its gold dome.
Really cool other art and statues nearby to check out as well

Absolutely beautiful architecture!! If you are into nice buildings and monuments then this is the place for you. Park your car and get your car ready there are a ton of other building, monuments and statues surrounding this place for a entire photo album.

Fantastic architecture! What a wonderful place to work for the legislators. Amazing that there's only three microns of gold covering that dome.
interesting significance of the gold dome across America's capitals.

Beautiful building with a gold crown top. This building can be seen in the beginning of Deaf Memories music video by Slipknot.

This is one of the coolest capitals I have ever been to! They give free tours, and everyone here is so nice and so helpful and seem like they really love being there!
I wasn’t able to see the outside part because it was winter when I went. But I definitely wanna go back during the summer to see all the exhibitions and statues outside of the capital. The dome is really cool it’s made out of gold, and you can also walk up these really cool winding stairs to pretty much the top. But make sure you go on a free tour, otherwise you don’t get to go into certain rooms without a tour guide . You get to see the house of representatives and the senators of Iowa rooms. The library is so cool! It reminds me of Harry Potter, and Belle from beauty and the beast. The winding staircases and the way it’s all set up is one of the coolest things here. Art on the wall is really nice too and part of it looks like art but its really glass tile! So cool!
This is definitely the number one thing to do in Des Moines and you shouldn’t miss it.
Terra Scott — Google review
Wow, another place that really is as good as the reviews say. The 4.8 star rating is totally justified. The free tour is amazing. They give a 90 minute tour of most of the building including the old high court room, the parliamentary room, law library and right up to the top of inside the dome, the accurately-named Whispering Floor. The guide was really friendly and answered everyone's strange and obscure questions.
The restrooms are clean and tidy and the gift shop is actually well-priced!!

What a beautiful Capitol building, the nicest we’ve ever seen. We took the guided tour and our guide was very good. The tour covers the main portions of the building including the legislative chambers, old Supreme Court chamber and the law library, all are magnificent. well worth a visit

We arrived a few minutes after a tour had already started, but they said to just walk up and join them. So happy we did. Diane, our guide was very informative and had many stories to tell. She is very approachable and was very happy to answer all our questions.
Blank Park Zoo is a year-round attraction with a wide range of animals from across the globe. It is one of the only accredited zoos in the state and offers plenty for visitors, including carousel, petting areas, and concessions.
Went to the zoo on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter in law. Had the place to ourselves. literally. It was the actual best zoo experience I have ever had. the tiger was epic. She came up to the viewing window. But the real winner of the day was the otter. We called him Gary. That little nugget was showing off and being sassy and flashy for our viewing pleasure. He came as close to us as possible and would look right at us, Than cavort around his pen. He was the best part of my trip.
I wasn't sure if the zoo was Even open in the winter. It is. Some exhibits (like all of the africa exhibit and the kids zone) are shut down, for obvious reasons. Less people though, and it's not scorching hot.
Love the zoo!

Went on a Tuesday, and not crowded at all. Easy to park, enter and get around. Could see it perfect for strollers or even wheelchairs. Great for toddlers, and younger children. We enjoyed seeing the giraffes and lions most of all.
Staff was very friendly in the gift shop and as we excited.
Very clean park overall. From the restrooms to the walking paths.

We decided to go to the Wild lights. It was amazing and beautiful. It is $25 per person and it worth the money! You can see how much they put in the work to bring this together. It great family and friends, even date night. It give off very warm and romantic scenery.

very affordable entrance fee. and my kids loved the animals.we went here sunday morning and we got the whole zoo for ourselves. i think its best to go here during summer time because the giraffes and other part of the zoo are not available during winter time.

This is a nice little zoo that you can easily take in over the course of a couple hours. We went in when it opened, saw pretty much everything, ate a picnic lunch outside the zoo, and then went back in for the sea lion show before ending our time there. The zoo keeper woman we talked to after the sea lion show was excited to answer our questions and a joy to talk to.
We didn't do everything there is to do (feed the giraffes, play on the playground, ride the train), so you could do more than we did and easily stay longer (and spend more money).
It's certainly worth a trip, especially if you are either in the area or live nearby.
Tyler Teske — Google review
Fun place to take your family or your grandkids for an afternoon of visiting the animals. Park is spread out and, for the most part, was not crowded. Enjoyed watching the giraffes wander about and watching the various sea creatures frolic in the tanks located throughout the park. My only disappointment was the train ride. I would have enjoyed seeing the whole park via the train so you could see what they had before heading around the park. Instead, it was a quick ride through just 1 section. Lots to see, so wear your walking shoes and enjoy the fun!

Blank Park Zoo is a very nice zoo located in Des Moines, Iowa. The zoo is not huge, bug has a lot to offer and see. Adult admission is $16, and children were $10. Basic membership was $99 and may be the best value for a family. Train and Merry-Go-Round rides are $3. The zoo is easy walking, with a lot of shade. Restrooms were very clean and modern. We will definitely be back again.

I'm thoroughly impressed with this zoo. First time visiting despite multiple times in the city, and it starts off with camels in the parking lot and a cool inside walk through the water cycle and the animals that live in it. Plenty of other cool animals about and a cafe that isn't crazy priced. Wish there were more bottle filling stations around for water but that's my only complaint
Benjamin Brown — Google review
Watching the Otters and Red Pandas is worth a visit by themselves. It's a very walkable zoo and great for young children. Plan on 2-3 hours minimum and add an hour if you're there for the seal show or penguin feedings.
Cordell Wabeke — Google review
Great little zoo! Had so much fun!! Had lion's and tiger's and no bears O'my. 🤣😂 The Red Pandas are so cute! While we visited most of the attractions like the train, and the play yard with the goats and lamas were closed , along as the food stands and bird feeding in the Australian exhibit, due to lack of staff. All the animal exhibits were open and the staff that was there and walking through the zoo were extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions you had. Lots of animals to see, with head sets for certain areas to learn more about them. There is a small picnic area in the parking lot and a small playground for the little ones to play. Over all was an amazing day even in the heat of the day. The prices are very reasonable. And I forgot to mention the zoo has sensory days on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you haven't been there yet you're missing out on a great day. Perfect for a date day or a place to bring the family.

I love going to the Light the night events every year. I have been there the last two years and each year has had some amazing scenes set up. I love the ones that are on the water or that the kids can interact with. Each year they pick different themes and set up displays all over the zoo. We actually walk the zoo twice. We arrive a little before sunset and get the sunset view. Then we walk again to see the displays in the dark. Also the second walk is a lot quieter as most of the kids have gone home.
The animals are not out during this event so it is good for kiddos to know in advance. Parking is the same as always you might get lucky and get something close but you'll probably end up in the gravel lot and walk a little.
Tickets are a tad on the expensive side especially for a family but tbh not much different than going to a movie. On the plus side it's a memory to share with someone and something different to do.
Ashley Palmer — Google review
Not a very big zoo but great for kid and people that mobility issues. Not many choices for food but the but they had lots of places to sit and cool off. You cold also feed some of the more friendly animals like Alpacas, Giraffes, and more that I can't remember. We were there for a little more then 3 hours so for 20$ it was a nice day out with the family. 👨🦼👨👩👧👦
Eric Flinn — Google review
Lots is extra, so be prepared to spend more money than the entrance fee. Train, feed parakeets, carousel, face painting, feed the goats. A lot is closed or being renovated currently, but the stuff that was open was fun! The animals were sleeping, (we went in the afternoon) but close enough to still see. Fun playground that my kids loved. We did it all within an hour or two, because it's pretty small.
Kylie Best — Google review
Blank Park Zoo is a small but very nice zoo. Their animals are well cared for and well enriched, and the exhibits are engaging and very natural. Staff are friendly and have a wealth of information. The exhibits could have benefited from a little bit more written information but I'm also a glutton for knowledge so the average person won't be disappointed. They have a good variety of animals separated out into geographic regions as well as a train ride and an interactive animal section for kids.
Suzanne Harris — Google review
Another neat attraction in Des Moines that's worth a visit. We liked the interactive nature of many parts of the zoo. Even though we visited early in the season and a few things weren't ready/out yet it was still worth the trip.
Dan Braun — Google review
We're members here which is nice because we can show up whenever and stay as long or as little. It's totally worth the cost. They also have reciprocal benefits for other zoos around the US which will save you lots of money.
We really enjoyed Zoo Brew here on Wednesdays and came religiously until my work schedule changed. Sunday, was the first time we visited during normal zoo hours and it was cool to see which animals were more active vs. when we came in the evenings.
We decided to go Sunday, on STEM day, because two of the female lions are moving to a different zoo this week. There were a lot of information stations throughout and lots of interactive activities.
I do like this zoo, though it's a lot smaller than what I'm used to. I still think it's great what they have been able to do with this amount of space. I also feel like you can get reasonably close to the animals. There's plenty of rest/bathroom facilities. And, the train is fun whenever you want to take a break from walking. You get a different view of the animals and I believe it costs $2-$4 depending on whether or not you're a member.
Don't forget to go into the exhibit in the entrance building. A lot of people miss that and there's a bunch of cool exhibits in there. The waterfall in the Discovery Center is really beautiful.

Looking at this zoo from an aerial view, I didn’t expect there to be much at first. However, when I visited this zoo in person, I was awestruck at the diversity of animals on display within just a few acres! Every part of the zoo had some amazing creatures to marvel at, of which my favorites were the Red Panda, the Jamaican Fruit Bats, and the Cassowaries.

We don't have a lot of options for animal experiences in central Iowa. With that in mind, we love having an option that is not a terribly far drive from home. It is NOT a large zoo. When my child was younger, we had a pass & visited at least once a month, would usually take ~hour. It's been a few years, there have not been any "new" species that as a non-religious zoo follower would notice, takes us about 30 minutes.
That said, the kids' play area is fantastic. The animals we love are consistently on exhibit, always clean & well maintained. We love when the keepers are out to speak more about them, very informative, and helps to build that familiarity and compassion for the animals that call our zoo home.

We enjoyed a great afternoon at the Blank Park Zoo! The zoo had a wide verity of animals from turtles and fish to lions and giraffes and monkeys. It’s a good size but not a huge zoo by comparison to others. We took about two and a half hours to see what we wanted to see. It worked out perfect for us as that was about the little ones attention span anyway. There was plenty of parking and checkin was quick and easy. The ticket price felt a little high but overall wouldn’t deter us from coming back again.

Great zoo for the size! Prices were really good for entry! Took us about 3 hours to get through at a decent pace. Has many beautiful animals and the habitats are also amazing and the animals look happy and healthy! The sea lions are absolutely fun to watch! And the gift shop has many cool items. Got my son a shark bracelet that links to an actual tagged hammer head shark and shows GPS time lines of all the sharks travel, tag date, activities and ect. Really fun trip for family or even just as a couple or single.

The Pappajohn Sculpture Park is a gorgeous 4.4-acre space that offers visitors a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some of the best sculptures in the country, perfect for photos with Des Moines' skyline behind them. With works by esteemed artists from all over the world, it's one of the most significant collections of outdoor sculptures in the US and an excellent place to visit year round.
This is a nice stop to make and check out some cool and some weird creations. There are a ton of sculptures but it started to rain so I was no able to get all of them.

Very good park to visit with ample parking on the street, great sculptures and very open access to them. Must see for any person visiting Des Moines. Best of all it's free to all.

Awesome park for people to enjoy some cool sculptures. Free admission, street parking all around the park for a small fee. The park is not very big but well maintained by the city. Some people complained in the reviews that all the sculptures are metals and plastics. It kinda has to be because the sculptures are outdoor and the materials has to be able to withstand the test of time. All the sculptures looks pretty new and it’s free to enjoy. The only thing that did bothered me was the amounts of homeless people walking and hanging around the park. I was alone at 9:30am and didn’t feel safe. When I got closed to the girl sculpture by one corner of the park; one homeless guy was yelling “it wasn’t me” repeatedly to me. I was a bit freaked out because there wasn’t anyone else close by at the moment. There was a few people on the other side of the park and some passing by cars though. Overall, I did enjoyed my visit at the sculpture park. I would highly recommend not going there alone if you are a woman.

Loved this park! We went during the day and rode our scooters around the park and surrounding blocks. The sculptures were neat, park was clean and spacious. We didn't feel cramped at all even though there were quite a few visitors while we were there. There is a ton of benches and seating all around. Parking meters all along the outside and parking is free on Sundays. People were even laying on blankets and having a picnic. Really neat place!! No bathrooms, but there was a port-a-potty around the corner.

Very interesting park in the middle of downtown. We were there on a Saturday morning, and there was a good crowd of people walking around and enjoying the sculptures. They have markers throughout to tell you about each sculpture, but they need to make it easier to identify which marker goes with each sculpture.

We really enjoyed walking around and playing in the grass. There are a lot more art pieces than the pictures I uploaded. We did wish that it was a little more interactive than do not touch since it’s a central park. Definitely a good stop to stretch your legs and let the kids run around on a trip. We were in the area on vacation for the week and we’re glad we stopped by.

The only reason I gave 3 stars is because it is a nice outdoor area in the heart of the city.
The so-called art is definitely lacking creativity and imagination. I'm sure that the city could do better.

Love all of the parks here in Iowa. Big or small they all offer a great insight into history, nature, or a quiet respite from everyday business as usual. The Clark Tower offers some unique perspective in the area from the view to the history.
Great hiking and sites to see here. Spent some time tromping the trails and bird watching. Well worth your time to stop and check out the sights and sounds.

What an amazing way show respect for our military personnel! Highly recommend this spot! Sign the book and drop some cash in the bucket! The man who paints and repaints this rock has serious talent. This place is off the beaten path. Right off I80 in IOWA. Take some time out of your busy schedule and go see this! May sit out in thr middle of nowhere... But it sure gets a lot of visitors throughout the day!

Extremely moving and hallowed place for all freedom lovers to visit. Great Abraham Lincoln quote this year.

Bubba does a fantastic job honoring our military and those who have served. There are Freedom Rocks in almost all counties (at the time I’m writing this) in Iowa. This is the original one. It is massive.
Some may not know that there are veteran remains in the paint on this monument. Please take time to visit & take a moment to reflect on what our veterans have done for us.
Freedom isn’t free!

This place is awesome! these are from freedom rock 2018... for those that are not familiar, bubba Sorenson started painting that 50 ton boulder in the late 90s (as I recall). Each year, he goes out to where an old quarry was(where the rock is), and paints a different theme on it. The flag is always on it (but different each time), and the Huey is always in the same spot. At one time as I recall, I read that when some folks want ashes of passed veterans incorporated, he'd mix them into the chopper's paint. He does this for free, and on his own time. He has been doing one for each of the 99 countries in iowa. They are all unique. He has the main rock painted by memorial day. Since he started painting it, a camera, flag pole, lights, a small info both, and outhouse was added. The freedom rock and the artists Are both treasures. The experience for me at least is very moving. We ride 2+ hours each way just to spend 20 to 30 minutes at the rock. It's worth it to me at least. Well, that's it for this year's rock pictures. I hope they are enjoyed. The rock is a couple miles south of I-80 (Greenfield exit) west of des moines. Please correct me if I am wrong anywhere in this post. I have included photos, that also had pictures of previous paintings that can be found in the small info center.

This is a very lovingly painted and maintained freedom rock… Very meaningful and in a beautiful setting… There is also a nearby board where other freedom rocks are pictured and located. Thank you all.

One of the most beautifully memorials for veterans I have seen. The artist does such an amazing job painting the rock. And changes his design at least once a year. My kids love going and if you are in the area I'd highly recommend you visit

The painted detail on this rock by the artist is nothing short than stunning !!! I guess he paints this rock a different theme frequently and his work is superb ! On a nearby telephone pole, people have left small items and mementos to honor our veterans. It is worth the drive.
The Danish Windmill in Elk Horn offers a glimpse into the area's Danish heritage. Visitors can explore an authentic hausbarn from 1660, now a museum showcasing the community's German heritage. The windmill itself is a marvel of engineering, constructed in the 1850s and transported to the USA in the 1970s. Inside, it boasts beautiful interiors but be cautious with young children due to climbable ladders.
The lady in the gift shop was lovely! Very kind and knowledgeable. The windmill and walking path around it were both amazing. It is so hard to wrap your head around the engineering it took to construct it in the 1850's and to transport it to the USA in the 1970's. The inside of the mill is absolutely beautiful.
I would be careful about stopping if you have young or rowdy kids with you. There are ladders you can climb in the mill that they might find difficult.
We hope to visit again! It was a lovely experience.

This roadside attraction is a diamond in the rough. There were so many signs along the highway for it so we figured to stop. We did the tour which was only $3.00/person which includes a video history of the windmill and we got to go inside. There are a few other attractions as well. The tour was pretty quick so we didn't spend too much time which makes it doable for people passing through the area. I also filled out the survey and got a free postcard.

Fun and historic place to visit if you're going down the interstate!
We didn't have much time but did a quick tour and we're fascinated at how it was moved from Europe and reassembled. Nice gift shop and friendly staff!

Really nice place to visit with a tour of the windmill. Gift shop have many neat things to purchase for gifts. Danish, German, and Baltic items and sweets for sale. This place also doubles as an iowa welcome center with tons of maps and pamphlets for things to do in Iowa. Gas station half a block away and also and electric car charge port on site.

A quaint surprise. Community of 650 in Danish farming settlement. Brought the last authorized exported Danish windmill to US in 1975. Short video shares history and the windmill tour costs $3/adult (or w/a AAA card you get 2 for one 😊). A very nice gift shop next door has lots of great gifts from Denmark and even some Danish pastries.) About 6 miles from Highwy but worth a little detour.

A short drive from the interstate. Pretty amazing and ambitious for a town to purchase a windmill, ship it across the ocean and reconstruct it. Great story! We didn’t take the tour but we did take a stroll around the grounds, looked around and made a purchase from the gift shop.

A wonderful example of Danish culture.
Definitely reminiscent of the old country.

Looks really neat! Unfortunately it was already closed when we got there, so we did not get to see the inside or do the tour. However the park area surrounding it was very nice and had some things to photograph and look at, including a tiny church, and a viking house, as well as information boards on viking culture.

The lady inside was so kind and so nice. Very friendly and we talked a bit about my travels and sites I wanted to see. I signed their guest book and filled out a survey they have (simple traveler questions) and received a free postcard in return. It was cold and very windy so I didn't walk around outside but I did take a couple quick pictures. The inside has souvenirs, books, clothes, candy and the like. They even sell hard cider in different flavors. You can even take a tour of the windmill. Unfortunately I didn't take the tour. I just enjoyed the conversation and environment of good people and a good place....Hygge.

The Danish Windmill was very interesting and a must stop along I-80 going towards Omaha. The windmill is an Iowa Information stop as well, you can tour the windmill floors for $3 but i have trouble walking so didn't take the tour.
They have a big gift shop there as well as a Viking cottage to show you what life was like back then. Elk Horn, Iowa, put it on your must see list when traveling towards Omaha!!

Iowa has a literal Danish windmill. It was brought over from Denmark and rebuilt and preserved. After paying for the tour, you watch a short video on the history of the windmill and how it came to be. Then you can explore the windmill and climb up. The kids loved climbing the ladders and going as high as we could. They loved the Lego model of the windmill also. Very large gift shop when you’re done. Neat items from Denmark and other countries. Our family enjoyed our time.

Cute place to visit. Some nice things in the gift shop. Was a little disappointed after walking around the gift shop for 10 min and not 1 person around. Windmill wasn't working, wanted to ask why. Was about to walk out and leave a 5 dollar bill at the register for a sticker I wanted and that was when someone came out. Not mean, but not friendly either. I would have walked around outside but there was someone cutting the grass and blowing all kinds of dust and dirt around, had no intention of breathing all that in.
Maybe it was just wrong time, wrong day to visit. They really should put some bells or something on the door so they know someone was walking around. A dishonest person could have walked out with anything.

Took our family of 6 here for a total of $14.00 for all of us to get in. Inexpensive and so worth the experience! We had a blast and the ladies that gave the tour were amazing today! Lots of history and every one of our kids loved. Elementary age to high school. We all loved playing the axe throwing game too.

There is a short informative introductory video. We got a personalized tour from the windmill manager, who is very knowledgeable about the history and the inner workings of the windmill. The windmill was in excellent condition and they are working hard to keep it in working order. You can climb up inside the windmill. There are ladder steps with sturdy handrails. They have a nice gift shop with a wide range of items. Gift shop staff are lovely. There are some nice outdoor displays and picnic tables as well. There are a few other shops, eateries and attractions in town as well. Don’t miss Elkhorn!

Beautiful historic windmill, wonderfully preserved and obviously well loved by those who own it. The lady in the gift shop was delightful and a joy to talk to, she was knowledgeable and very kind to our kids. We took our 2 boys here to visit as a homeschool field trip. $8 for a family of 4 is something that is unheard of these days! We watched a short video, got a brief tour of the ground floor by the employee, then toured the rest of the windmill and outside grounds on our own. We spent a wonderful hour roaming around the mill, the yard, and the other buildings on display. The viking house was my sons favorite.
Large half-timbered A-frame with historical exhibits & artifacts of Danish culture in America.
The staff were amazing. Super knowledgeable and really care about the history of the museum and its contents. Unique exhibits and the kids LOVED the Lego wall and Lego play area. Outdoor paths looked well maintained, and we would love to go back when it’s warmer weather to enjoy them. Family admission was $15 for our family of 5.

Great museum to visit if you’re around or just happen to pass by. Good exhibitions and a solid collection of what Danish immigrants brought with them. Good context about Denmark past and present too. Very friendly staff!

Don't miss taking a stroll in the adjacent prairie recreation garden/park to experience how the prairie looked before/when it was settled by Danes. When I was there (July 2020), it was full of flowers and smelled fantastic. Now there's majestic corn fields all around, in themselves also quite a sight.

Quaint museum with Danish American artists and also the history of Danish Mormon immigrants. I had hoped for more textiles. Some one else had hoped there would be sweets and coffeee. There was a spinning wheel.

Interesting museum about Danish history in a small town (pop 540) in Iowa. Just off I 80. Has a very interesting exhibit about tattoos. Combine visit with stop at the Danish Windmill.

The Museum of Danish America is a fun place to visit to reconnect with your Danish roots! The museum “celebrates Danish roots and American Dreams”. Established in 1983 it houses a grand piano from Victor Borge, old portraits, and artifacts and historical exhibits from Danish culture in America. Don’t forget to stop by the cute gift shop that sells Danish items as well as from local artists. There is an impressive prairie garden that is worth while walk. As a Dane living in United States, experiencing the museum brought back lots of good memories and makes one feel homesick for the “old country” for sure!

Super cool place, I'm glad we were able to experience it before it gets closed down. Had a chance to talk with the owner and his wife and they were super nice and appreciative. Sad to see it go.

Make sure you plan enough time for stopping here! It's an incredible collection of IH tractors and memorabilia over the years - and everyone can enjoy it! Super well-lit, clean - no dust anywhere. Owners are amazing. It was also voted one of the best businesses of the interstate!
