Edwards Apple Orchard

This place is wonderful. We always have a great time. There is food you can purchase to eat hot downstairs and food to take home upstairs. It's in this really nice remodeled barn. This is also non food products for purchase depending on the season. Its not open all year just on the end of summer till right after Thanksgiving. There are plenty of places for photo ops. There is an outdoor playground for the kids. Wagon rides though the orchard to. There is something for everyone. I highly recommend going there especially if you have never been. Hands down the best apple orchard around!

Edwards Apple Orchard was amazing! I have heard about this place for a couple of years now and have wanted to go! Finally Saturday my husband and I did it not knowing how big of an operation it really is! I want to start by saying every employee that I had contact with was so very friendly and I appreciate that most of all! Lines were kind of long but the workers kept things moving and even a long line didn't take long to get to your destination.
We started in the pumpkin patch and found two small pumpkins that I have in front of my home. Then we went on up to the barn and walked through just to see what all was available. Wow! Quite the compilation of apple butter, maple syrup, bacon jam as well as candies, apples and the amazing apple cider donuts! My husband is more of a frosting fruit filled donut guy but when I gave him one of the warm apple cider donuts he even said this doesn't need frosting or fruit filling! This is amazing! Did not disappoint!
We had a barbecue sandwich, apple slices with caramel and cold apple cider to drink. It was so good! Thank you for making quite the family friendly place to go experience the country!

A Midwest classic - an annual must for anyone within a 50 mile radius. A great way to knock 2-3 hours out of your day with your family or your significant other.
The apples you'll pick here are better than anything you'll buy at the grocery store.
Ryan Batson — Google review
Literally an institution. You gotta visit Edwards when they open in fall. Is not only super cute and fun, but they sell the most amazing candles and the most delicious apple pie with cheese and ice cream. I love Edwards Apple Orchard!

Wonderful day off from work spent at Edwards Apple Orchard with my Daughter
We have been coming here for years. The Kids just love it and they are all grown up now and still love it.
They make one of my favorite Apple Pies on the Planet!
It was beautiful there today, 61 degrees, Chill Fall Vibes and we got a dozen of their World Famous Apple Cider Donuts to bring home!
Biker Dude Burgers (Darrin Klapprodt) — Google review
A live band was playing. Amazing ciders and apples. They also distribute some outside market items. A great little playground and maze for the kids. The parking wasn't bad. They had traffic control and assistance. Their market (heck damn near grocery store) is very esthetically pleasing and fun to walk around. The crowd has definitely picked up since Covid regulations have dropped. It's nice to see people out enjoying themselves again.

We go to Edward's every year during the late summer and early fall. We go a few different times during that time to do the U-pick apples. We like the Galas and golden delicious which come ready at different times. The U-pick and the apples in the apple barn are a bit pricey but they taste way better than anything you get at the grocery stores. The decore is Midwest country and very family oriented. The people are nice and helpful. The other things they sell are neat and very country-oriented as well but again pricey. If you go here be prepared to spend at least $50 to $150 but it is worth it.

We live in another state, but every time we come back to Illinois to visit, I make sure it’s in the fall so we can come to Edwards. Our recent trip we had extra time so we went twice! The absolute BEST apple cider donuts I’ve ever had! Nothing compares to how incredible they are. The atmosphere and everything offered is endless! Take a ride to pick apples, take your kids to play at the playground, walk through the gift shop that’s filled with jelly, butters, salsas, clothes, and more! But it doesn’t end there. You can go visit and feed the goats, meet Mac the Highland cow, and even sit and enjoy food and fresh hot apple cider. Your kids of all ages will have the best time and so will you! A forever favorite that we make a priority to visit.
Erika Gel — Google review
It’s our family tradition to go apple picking every fall at this wonderful family friendly orchard. This year the rain however put a damper on all the outdoor fun & activities the orchard provides but we were still able to enjoy the delicious apple pie, apple donuts, and apple cider in the barn along with stocking up with our favorite jams and salsas for the year. See you early next fall 🍂🍎🎃

My wife and I visited here for the first time and had a lot of fun. We bought a lot of local goodies in the store, ate some apple pie and drank hot cider, enjoyed some fall colors, and pet done farm animals. Overall it was a great afternoon out.
Patrick Roddy — Google review
I miss all the samples. We normally walk out having spent between 50 and $100. This time without the samples it was only $6.99 to cover a half dozen donuts. It's still a great place to go and we enjoy it. It is a part of our fall tradition. But I do miss all of the samples.

A need to go place with lots of history. Edward’s was taken out by a tornado back in 2008, the newest built building contains remnants from the previous buildings. They offer fresh apple cider (hot or cold) and apple cider donuts all made from their very own apples! Located down in the basement. In the upstairs is an old time styled general store offering more products made and created at Edward’s. You can also buy fresh apples and other vegetables grown by them. They offer a kids play area and a petting zoo to keep the littles entertained. All in all it is a place to see if and when you come to Illinois.
Adrianna Liebert — Google review
Really enjoyable ambiance. Wonderful collection of musicians to listen to while waiting to get into their Cafe. Delicious apple pie and donuts.
Good sized pumpkin patch. Great dry goods store. But the pick your own apples side is a bit over priced in that they only offer the basket at $45 per. Other orchards offer different size options.
Nice play area for kiddos.
All in all we had a wonderful afternoon visit and would recommend!
Bradley Bergstrom — Google review
Great food, music, shopping, kiddie events. We have been going here for the past 20 years, it gets better every year. We now live in Tennessee, when we come to visit family in the Chicago in the fall, we always take the drive to this area to enjoy Edward's Apple Orchid. Back again 2023!
Melinda Bednar — Google review
Had wonderful time with my husband. Bought their apple butter, apple cider jelly, and donuts. 10000% recommend!
$45 apple picking seems a bit pricey.
Sara Kim — Google review
Edwards Apple Orchard is the reason I make a trip home to Illinois once a year. I literally plan my visit around opening day. From the moment you pull the door open you smell fall. There’s samples of some of their products as you make your way to the hot Apple Cider donuts that are to die for but wait! Don’t fill up eating those because because there’s the cafe below that has the best bbq pork sandwiches you’ll ever have along with hot & cold apple cider & apple pie with a thick slice of cheddar cheese and/or vanilla ice cream. The apple barn is filled with a variety of apple you can bring home or if you’d rather pick your own you can do that as well. There’s a lot for kids to do and live music usually on the weekends. Plan a good hour to 1 1/2 hr to take in the whole experience.
Vincent Locascio — Google review
Not only is this orchard BEAUTIFUL, but they have so much for kids to do and the best little store I’ve ever seen. I love coming on a random Tuesday morning when it’s not busy and just walking around with my daughter.
The Tristan Crist Magic Theatre is a small venue that hosts family-friendly magic and illusion shows. In addition to the performances, the theater features a gift shop and lobby. The show itself is captivating and engaging, with Tristan's presentation skills being particularly noteworthy. His assistant Shannon adds to the overall experience with her stunning presence on stage. The theater provides modern and comfortable accommodations for all guests while maintaining professional standards of service from its staff.
Excellent show. Tristan brought several people on to the stage and performed the illusions with their assistance and was available for pictures after with anyone. There are no bad seats but only about 120 seats available. Price was reasonable. My family and I enjoyed it a lot and I am sure you will as well.
Mark Boyd — Google review
Best Magic Show Ever!!!
Tristan Crist is amazing. The Theate is small, but perfect because you get a more upclose and personal show. You get to meet and greet, plus take pictures with Mr. Crist since you can't take any pictures or videos during the show. Plenty of parking, plus handicap parking available too.
The Punisher — Google review
Our first time here and it was just amazing! Nothing bad to say about the show at all. Interaction with the crowd was fun and they even threw in a lot of funny humor which was great for us adults. Meet and greet at the end with pictures and autographs which was neat! Good memories made
Shelly W — Google review
Theater was clean and every seat had a great view! Tristan's illusions were fantastic and his great interaction was so fun!
Danielle Smith — Google review
I rarely give anything 5 stars but this place deserves it. Tritan Crist is an Excellent Illusionist and he has a great, fun personality. Brett Daniels who performs with him has great slight of hand. Well Well worth $40 good for all ages, clean place, free parking, beer ,wine, popcorn, candy sold onsight.
Dan G — Google review
I went to see Tristan Crist & Brett Daniels tonight for the first time and I was not let down at all. It was AMAZING! Every trick was so done perfectly and my eyes couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was so much fun. A plus is that is very interactive and they loved involving the audience in their acts. The snacks were very fairly priced and the bathrooms were very clean. We got to meet the magicians after the show and they were so nice! I highly recommend going to this show, you will not be disappointed! I mean, who else just makes a giant helicopter appear on stage in just a few seconds?? It’s totally worth the $42. Go see this show, you will regret it if you don’t!
Emily — Google review
Absolutely fantastic show. The crew members were very polite and professional at will call, the waiting area was well maintained, and there were clear instructions on wait times, etc. The show itself was a wonderful experience! There was comedy, illusion, magic, and amazing stage lighting, and sound! The show is a work of art that I would enjoy experiencing again. The clothing style of the performers was visually appealing as well. A well put together show that was worth the time and money. No disappointment whatsoever. The owner seemed to appreciate his customers and was friendly and professional!
Moni — Google review
We had a great time for the show, we purchased tickets online and was able to pick up 1 hour before the show. They sell drinks and food to bring in. There are seats for only 100 or so people, feels small but can see from any seat. There is an intermission, if you are a larger person there may not be a good seat for you.
Heather Friedrich — Google review
I saw the Tristan Crist show this past weekend. This is the second time I have seen the show as I was in the area a year ago. The show is as good the second time as the first time. He has put in a number of new illusions so the show was fresh and as enjoyable. So if you have seen the show one time I definitely would recommend seeing it a second time. Tristan is crisp and engaging with his presentations, everyone is treated with respect. His performance skills are very well done. His assistant Shannon is stunning and is an amazing foil for Tristan. The theater is modern and comfortable. The staff is highly professional. I highly recommend.
Ev Gulick — Google review
Took my wife and 2 boys ages 7 and 8 years of age. The show was fantastic, which really makes you think of how was that's done and just very cool. My boys stay tuned througho the t entire show. Good times for all. The Magician slight of hand in between the main performances was excellent as well.
Peter Stocks — Google review
Our family had a magnificent time at the show. Amazing performance!
Nicole Riopelle — Google review
This is a show worth 3x the price! It is superb. Very family friendly. Entertaining and reminiscent of Vegas style entertainment. However, Tristan’s personality on stage is warm and engaging. His acts feature incredibly strong illusions that are unbelievably delivered. There is nothing negative to be said. Great job to Tristan and all the staff.
gina caballeros — Google review
Always fun for me to see a magic show ✨️ 😊 175 seat theater with great performances of comedy, slight of hand, & large stage illusions. As an avid fan of magic for all ages, I would definitely attend again 👍👍
Martonio Magic — Google review
First time going, loved the small venue. Tristan was so personable, funny and very good as an illusionist also had a wonderful magician some audience participation. 90 minute show thought the ticket price was very reasonable. They also come out in the lobby for pictures like a meet and greet after the show
Debbie Kummelehne — Google review
We absolutely loved the Show, and still trying to figure out how Tristan got that helicopter 🚁 on the stage...lol 🤔
Debbie Cecola — Google review
We loved tonight’s show! It was very fast paced and kept our attention throughout the entire performance. I especially liked Tristan Crist’s personality. He seems humble and was really funny. We enjoyed the acts by Bret Daniels so much also. Real professionals with high quality equipment and illusions. I would have paid three+ times the ticket price to see this show. Great venue with no wait to pick up our tickets or get snacks. It was an amazing night! Thank you.
Heather T — Google review
Absolutely astonishing and a terrifically fun time for the whole family! I would drive to Lake Geneva just to watch this show. My teenage son and my 7 year old daughter had such a blast! Highly recommend.
Samira Jimenez — Google review
Wow. When they say 'Vegas-style' entertainment, they aren't lying. Beautiful theatre, beautiful performers. Loved the opportunity to meet Tristan and Shannon after the performance. They're terrific people.
If you're looking for a great hike.
The North Shore portion of the path offers breathtaking views of the lake and incredible homes.
Dan Leunig — Google review
Drove up from Chicago for a little day trip in Lake Geneva. It is a cute seasonal town, but like most seasonal towns, doesn’t have a lot to do in off-season. We mainly came up to walk the lakeshore path. There are quite a few entry points, some with parking and some with parking about 1/2 mile away to access point.
Trail is not accessible for all, it is narrow at most points with uneven ground mainly due to the type of stones or pathway the owners want. It varies from dirt, rocks, flag stone, cement, synthetic wood, etc.
you do need to plan as you can’t simply exit wherever you want.
One major negative to walking this in the off season is that almost all the owners have their docks and boat lifts scattered all along the path. It’s a major major eye sore. Very disappointing. We noticed the north side had them way closer to the trail and many more of them. South side has more space and most were somewhat out of eye sight and way.
They really do interfere with you attempt at a pleasant walk. And during peak season I imagine the trial is packed and that would also make for an annoying walk.
Elizabeth Kirwan — Google review
It was a beautiful day. My English bulldog absolutely loves it. Going there I make it his day. I go shopping. He walks until he gets tired and then I put him in his stroller. We have lunch at a restaurant where we can sit outside
Cindy Kelley — Google review
Lake Geneva is a beautiful area to walk around. Beach is nice, but busy & they charge a fee for entrance. We went to the free nature preserve, and it was quiet and relaxing.
Robin Mistic — Google review
I love looking at the lake, boats and other people just having a good time with their families & pets. I feel safe there and it's a wonderful place to relax, enjoy nature and good food. Parking can be somewhat difficult but you can park in a side street and walk to park area.
NaturEli — Google review
I would recommend the west end of the trail for a comfortable walk. The east trail is more difficult and had some spots so overgrown that we were worried about what we were brushing up against. We turned back on the east trail. The west side is good for a casual walk. The east side is better suited for hikers.
Ana Carmona — Google review
Favorite place to go year round for the beauty, history, lush grounds and not to forget healthy long walks! Fall colors are gorgeous!
Danielle Smith — Google review
Awesome trail, lots of nice paths, beautiful houses to look at
Ross Wahlgren — Google review
Hiked the full 21/22 miles of shore path in one go on a beautiful day in May- so many amazing properties and gardens and mansions that were jaw-dropping. Honestly, something unique at every turn!
Trails go through private properties and each portion of the trail is kept up by the owners- so even the trail itself is unique from section to section! Loved it.
Total activity time (actual walking) was 8 hours 35 min, we took a break for lunch and a few hours later for coffee and stretched every hour. Started at 9:45 am and finished about 7:45 pm
Emily Ebeling — Google review
You could call this walk around the lake an architecture tour. The houses surrounding the lake are huge with some interesting designs. So if you want to ogle some nice houses while being close to nature and stretching your legs this is a nice route to take
Tyron Pretorius — Google review
We did about 3 miles out and back from the library NW. loved the walk and the diversity of the houses, yards and paths. Crazy big money on this lake and so amazing we can enjoy the path. Nice fall day so not many out. But can only imagine what it is like in summer if they are out there trying to enjoy their backyard. Respect their yards while you appreciate the walk. We are going to do another stint today.
Nikki — Google review
Enjoyable walking path!! Variety in scenery along the way. Each homeowner along the way is responsible for their section of path, so some path areas are much nicer than others. Be prepared to walk all types of terrain.
ShyGirl 4Life — Google review
This is a great path that circles all of Lake Geneva. There are lovely private homes to one side of the path and fabulous lake views on the other side. The trail is not completely flat but we did not encounter any steep inclines on the four miles we covered. However, we have been on this path in both Winter and Spring. We found Winter walking a bit rough. The ground cover changes as you go from grass, to gravel, to stones, to wood, etc... It is a narrow path in some places and it is necessary to step aside at times when people are going in the opposite direction. A local told us that the total path covers about 23 - 26 miles and takes about 8 - 9 hours for her family to cover in it's entirety. We're looking forward to trying it soon.
Miranda Steier — Google review
We love walking down the shore on the path in Lake Geneva. They have an area that is reserved for dogs only for them to enjoy the lake water. We enjoy watching the dogs swim and play fetch. Lots of things to do in Lake Geneva. Great town but it gets crowded on the weekends.
A walking path encircles this large, tranquil lake, a popular place for swimming & water sports.
Amazing place. We really didn't know what to expect having never been to this part of the country before. We were very pleased and wonderfully surprised at this incredible setting. This is where all the rich and well off from Chicago would come and summer and or good cause, it truly is a relaxing and beautiful place.
The lake is lined with mansions from a prior era, each with their own story to tell, some can be toured. The town is small and quaint and very welcoming to visitors and guests a like. We found many great places to eat and many activities to enjoy while vacationing here.
The mail run boat is a must do for anyone coming here, was a major highlight for us, not just from watching the young runners performing superb feats of wonder to deliver the mail onto the docks from a boat that never stops, but also the wonderful history and stories told during the circling of the lake shore.
We stayed at the old Playboy resort and found it charming with its own stories to tell. Fireworks show, nice rooms, even a ski run if you happen to be there in the winter. Here you can drive out on the lake in the winter as well, although one of the stories was about how several cars went through ice one year. So be careful.
David Whitworth — Google review
The water is super warm, however you have to pay a beach entrance fee. Jet ski is about 140/hour and 6-seater boat is 350 for 2 hours

Great fishing. Beautiful lake. Fun town.

First time on this Lake. Very nice. Fishing was slow. Boat ramp was very nice.$12 to launch. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday with kids still in school. We were there at 10 a.m. and only five about 30 stalls were still available.

The lake is HUGE!! There's a beach, boat & wave runner rentals & 'River Cruises'. It's absolutely beautiful!! My husband and I had a wonderful time!! We will most definitely return! You won't regret going there!!
Have a wonderful time!! I'm sure you will

An amazing place that requires you to take a tour by boat around the lake! So many estates over 8000sf and over $8MM. It began to get depressing actually there were so many amazing homes and no one was using any of them. Must see spot if in the area.

Yerkes Observatory
Observatory
Museums
Circa-1897 astronomical observatory featuring telescopes, laboratories & tours over a 77-acre site.
Yerkes Observatory currently being renovated October 2021. Architectural treasure near the shore of Lake Geneva in Williams Bay, WI. Well worth the trip. Historic landmark rich in history.
Richard Berns — Google review
This was such an interesting place. To stand were Albert Einstein once stood was surreal. It was truly a step back in time. Stunningly beautiful. It was history in 3D. Highly recommend for adults that have any interest in astronomy and/or history. Incredible - you will NOT be disappointed.
Constance Graska — Google review
Stunning restoration and energetic and inspiring tour by a scientist on the Space and Spaces tour. To marvel at the origins of modern astrophysics and think how far we have come in 120 years is humbling and rewarding. Don't miss a chance to visit Yerkes! Advance tickets required. Yerkes also hosts lectures and other events throughout the month, including at the arboretum on site.

Really enjoyed our time here today. The tour was incredible and very informative. Lots of history in this place and you can feel it from the moment you step on the grounds. Will be coming back for observation nights in the future. Highly Recommend!
Mike Corbitt — Google review
It is still closed for restoration, so we only walked around the grounds. A beautiful landmark, can't wait to tour the inside of of these days.
And yes, I fully expect to be amazed by the interior!

I am so glad they opened up again and are restoring the building. My 15, 12 and 11 year old kids loved the tour. My daughter even got to push the button to make the observatory deck go down. I'm excited to see what they offer in 2023. Keep up the great work!
Kim Anderson — Google review
We simply stopped by to admire the observatory from the outside - a bit too cloudy and hazy. This is a beautiful building. The architecture is beautiful and the details are something to see - truly don’t make them like this anymore. We were also entertained by a large flock of turkeys that was joined for dinner by a good sized doe.
William Bowen — Google review
Recently reopened, knowledgeable tour guides for a fascinating piece of local history. Looking forward to when the telescopes are in use for public viewings (estimated spring 2024). Fun partnership with local artists for the tallest glass Christmas tree.
Nicole Rice — Google review
A magnificent place. The Telescope that discovered the Big Bang. Recently flew out to Chicago to visit this observatory outside of Chicago. The building is magnificent the architectural detail is spectacular. There is a story in almost every column in the building. Here is the telescope that Edwin Hubble used, Carl Sagan used and Albert Einstein used. Who knows what future scientist might get their spark for science here.
Dan Koehler & Richard Dreiser could not have extended any greater hospitality then they did. I was supposed to observe through the scope that night but the rain had other ideas. Still they made it a wonderful visit. Thank you both!
Please University of Chicago make sure that this special place stays intact when it closes on October 1, 2018. This place can fire up the imaginations of young people and enrich many future generations.
But most of all this is a wonderful place to visit hurry up and do so before it closes. I hope the Yerkes Observatory finds its ways into the hands of a non profit that will share its telescope with the community and future generations - I hope it will never be turned into condos or dismantled.
I hope before the Observatory closes that someone could put a CMOS camera and take some images with the scope.
This should be a National Landmark. Wonderful special and beautiful place.

Best tour! On a scale if 1-5 it is a 15. See it while you can! Beautiful architecture. Lots of fun history and science. Entertaining, interesting, behind the scenes info. A restoration in progress - place worthy of support.

My husband and I were in Lake Geneva, looking for things to do. We have an average level of interest in astronomy and history, and we bought tickets to the Yerkes Observatory on a whim.
The tour was FANTASTIC -- worth every cent. Walt was our tour guide and he was exceedingly knowledgeable, very passionate about all that is going on at Yerkes Observatory, and super fun. Restoration is ongoing, and it sounds like they are working on developing new programming as well. There's a lot of important and exciting work happening -- we can't wait to come back!

Talk about a gorgeous building, on an amazing site, with the largest telescope anywhere! Took the mini-tour. It was only 30 minutes, but worth it. They have a 33' spun glass Christmas tree out front. Go see it when it lights up on tge 17th.

Thsi was the best part of my Lake Geneva trip! The building itself if full of life, beautiful architectural intricacies, and just has a whimsy to it. Our tour guide was fabulous, and the information we got was super fascinating. It is a one of a kind experience and is hands-on at some points, which is something I haven't seen before. I would certainly go back here and recommend it to anyone in the area!
Brielle Rach — Google review
We were unable to get tour tickets for the dates we were in the area, but visited the grounds. We had a great time exploring the exterior of the building and it's historic architecture. We did not finish the grounds trail due to extreme weather. I would go back again to experience the indoor tours.
Ana Carmona — Google review
I've wanted to visit Yerkes for years and it definitely did not disappoint. Our guides were very knowledgeable and their passion made the evening even more enjoyable. We were able to look through the 24" telescope and see several objects but seeing Saturn was amazing. Can't wait to go back once the largest telescope is ready to look through.

Beautiful building, amazing history, and one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. The restoration work they’ve done is gorgeous. I highly recommend this to anyone who lives in or is visiting the area!
Rock Cut State Park, located just a short drive from downtown Rockford, is a sprawling 3,092-acre outdoor paradise. The park offers a wide range of activities throughout the year, including hiking and horseback riding trails, camping facilities, and two picturesque lakes for fishing and boating. With over 40 miles of hiking trails that cater to all skill levels and various seasonal landscapes to explore, it's an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Great place to enjoy nature! A gem located in N. IL. Pierce Lake offers fishing, boating, kayaking and sailing. Very nice boat ramp. The lake does get a lot of fishing pressure so the catching can be tough. The park offers nice clean well maintained camping spots but it can get very busy in the summer.
Randy Price — Google review
This is a very huge state park. There’s a lot of different things to do. There’s many different nature trails that lead to many different areas of this park. There is a lot of picnic areas and yes, there is a designated picnic area but there’s also picnic areas picnic tables that are on different trails and pass and some of them are designated right off of the water. They have a concession area and a café Has not been opened yet as far as I’ve been there, but once it is open, I will comment and leave a review on the café concession part. They have rentals for canoeing, but the couple times that I’ve been there they were not letting people rent because of the wins and the temperature outside in the water, which tells me that they are concerned for the customer safety, and the safety comes first before their pockets, which I admire, and I respect Safety first right for the public. They have a playground and I always see Minnie dogs being walked with their owners. It’s a very friendly family orientated place. I’ve never seen anybody have any altercations or any type of negativity at all. I would highly recommend this place to individuals and families, but I do see many signs that say do not get locked in. They have different closing times I would just keep an eye on that. Make sure that you don’t get locked into the park after hours.

I would love to camp here sometime, has well maintained trails. Lots of birds on the water, it's beautiful no matter which side of the park you're on. All pets must be leashed and the park closes at 10pm if you don't want to be locked in.

Enjoyed our day trip. Spend most of the time kayaking on Pierce Lake, Olson Lake was closed at the time. Park offers many outdoor activities: biking, horse riding( there is a separate equestrian area on the west side of the park), kayaking, boat riding, fishing and many others. We brought our own kayaks, and there is no charge to launch it. There is rental facility as well, where you can rent canoe/kayak. Enjoy watching wildlife, you have come to the right place. Come, relax and admire the beaty of nature at the state park of Northern Illinois, you will not regret it!

One of my favorite state parks in the chicago area, this is located right in Rockford but is one of the largest state parks in Illinois. A huge campground with five different areas, lots of well maintained trails, boat rentals available, tons of fishing opportunities, two stores a camp store and a bait/fish store, beautiful forests and prairie areas, and a small cafe serving up breakfast lunch and ice cream. An amazing way to get away close to home, I highly recommend this state park!

There are a lot of trails to explore should you choose. There are also paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, and row boats that you can rent. Near the boat launch there is a concession stand that has a nice menu for mid hike snacks or lunch.
Before starting a trail be sure to check the signage. There are a ton of trails, so before you start make sure to plan a route and stick to it. If you do get lost, most trails intersect roads where you can better orient yourself.
A nice place to spend the day in the stateline.

HUGE state park. Tons of fishing. Decent amount of trails. Lots of the park looks newer. Especially some of the roads. We passed two campgrounds but didn’t check them out. Lovely spring day.

Love this State park! Our parks in Wisconsin are not free like they are in Illinois, you must have a park sticker. Tons of walking trails, fishing, camping and of course the wildlife! Take your camera with you if you go out and enjoy nature!

The Eagle cabin is great and private. It has two rooms that have overhead lights, ceiling fans, outlets, and heaters for cooler nights. The rear bedroom has two bunk beds and the front room has a double bed with a 4 person table and six stacking chairs. Water and pit toilets are a short walk away. You'll enjoy amazing panoramic views of the lake and woods. If you're lucky the rafter of turkeys will stop by and graze on the hillside adjacent to the cabin. If you get a chance to stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Had to take advantage of the amazing weather to check this place out. Parked in the parking lot by the lake and explored around the area. I didn't realize it at the time but the area I was in was a dog training area, which is adorable. Doggos welcome there! I enjoyed how wide the trails were and how secluded it could feel at times. I saw a lot of beautiful wildflowers and there were plenty of opportunities for birding. Plenty of parking, rest benches, and picnic tables.

I've been going to rock cut since I was a kid. Camping, hiking, boating, fishing, it has it all. I personally do mostly fishing and kayaking (calm waters and decent size fish). If you like a more laid back experience, I recommend hiking. They also have quite the variety of wild fruits and herbs, don't forget about the morals mushrooms (I think I spelled that right). All around great spot to get some nature in one's life!

This is a very large, beautiful state park. We visited on a Friday when the weather was cool and overcast. The lake is much bigger than what I remember as a young Boy Scout when we camped out here in the park. I recommend visiting this park if you are in the Rockford/Loves Park area.

A must place to visit as you are exploring Rockford. The lake view is superb on a sunny afternoon. Lots of trails and are there. It also offers campground and pier for fishing. A drive through the park is worth it too.

Great small lake for a scenic Kayak, rentals available! Lots of wildlife, but beware of the Dam under the concrete bridge- dangerous and not marked!

The park itself is very clean and organized. There's an abundance of toilet facilities to use and some with showers. We had a fantastic time on the kayaks on the water! Hiking trails available are pretty sweet.
HOWEVER, be sure to reserve your spot ahead of time, we almost didn't get a spot when we got there 😰. Overall we had a great time and will totally be back! The wildlife we saw was amazing as well!

Good park. Easy hiking around the entire lake with a 5 year old in 1.5 hours. Not too busy, well maintained, and good food at the lone rock cafe!
Update 24/12/2023: the park now has new roads and parking lots, and a new asphalt trail around several sections of the lake. The kids pond has also been rejuvenated with a parking lot and concrete fishing pads around a pond that has been cleared of overgrowth. Very nice upgrades in progress.

The Cellar Tasting experience was so fun! They take you down to their cellar room and walk you through the process. After they explain all of the wines on the menu you pick a wine flight with four choices. When your wine flight comes they also give you four chocolate truffles to pair with the wines and a cheese board. The board has three cheeses, three meats, olives, bread and butter, crackers and nuts. Once you get down to the last couple of wines they give you a full glass. Great two hours of enjoying wine and the company you came with.

The wine tasting flight is amazing, featuring a selection of meticulously crafted wines that showcase the unique characteristics of each varietal. From crisp whites to robust reds, every pour is a revelation, expertly crafted to captivate the palate and ignite the senses.
But the experience doesn't stop there. The lavender cocktail, a signature creation of the winery, is a harmonious blend of sophistication and whimsy. The delicate floral notes of the lavender infuse the cocktail with a subtle elegance, while hints of citrus and herbs add depth and complexity, resulting in a drink that is as refreshing as it is memorable.
What sets Stellar Estate Winery apart is their unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Each wine and cocktail is a testament to their passion for the craft, showcasing the best that the region has to offer.

So my wife and I were in Delavan Wisconsin in August this year for our 4-year wedding anniversary and decided to check out the Staller Estate Winery.
Some of our neighborhood friends back home had mentioned it to us and we were very interested so we stopped in to check it out.
It was a beautiful day. Sunny and 80°
We loved it. They gave us a little tour of the grounds. They've got a beautiful store inside the winery to purchase wines that you taste if you do choose.
They have all different types of wines to choose from. White red blush just to name a few. They also have wine flights, wine and chocolate flights, and dessert wine flights.
My wife and I both tried some wine flights
And also ordered a bread, meat, and cheese platter that was out of this world!
Very comfortable and cozy intimate setting.
I highly recommend it to couples! Check this place out! It's a fun little thing to do in the afternoon and reasonably priced as well. Definitely will be hitting the Staller Estate Winery back again next year.
Thank you to the staff. It was incredible!

Beautiful Winery a short distance from I-43 in southern (Richmond) Wisconsin. Nicely laid out, plenty of room inside and out. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Large selection of wines. Tasting is reasonable. The ($20) meat and cheese tray was incredible. We bought for ourselves and others. Will definitely return. Worth the stop / your time. Enjoy!

This is a 3.8 star review. You are not in Napa or Sonoma, but this is a delightful little surprise, charming stop over, romantic date idea, or you name it! We happened to find it driving by and enjoyed a quick bottle while sitting by the wine yard. There were other people doing the same and enjoying some snacks and charcuterie boards. A groomed vineyard is such a beautiful view and relaxing. I can imagine what this place would look like in fall and we will be back to find out. Wines are nice, priced very reasonably. They have a big shop/bar area with all kinds of merchandise and wines. They also make cocktails. Parking is free. There are indoor tables as well as outdoors. Get a bottle and pick your seat!

Love their tasting food plate and wine options. Worth the price. Large amount of cheese and bread. The fig jam was superb. Compared to other winery in Wisconsin which either don’t have a tasting menu or provide very little for their tasting menu, Staller is generous with its portions.
The seats outside are limited but if you get one the atmosphere is great for enjoying the wines and food you ordered which they will bring out for you.
Jacob — Google review
We had a great experience. The wine tasted good, the atmosphere was great, the little platter that we ordered. The only downside was the attitude of the lady at the counter, I guess one of the owners given that I was under the impression that it was run by a family. When I told her that they should consider installing a baby changing station in their restrooms, she just looked at me and said "I know" with a tone, completely dismissing what I said or what I had experienced minutes ago trying to change a baby diaper in my car. She could have said, "You're so right, we're so sorry about that, I promise we're working on it," and that statement alone would have made me feel better. Instead, her response made me regret tipping them 15% on what I had ordered, plus the wine that I purchased and got home with me. Lady, a baby changing station in today's world, is a necessity, is not a luxury. Please, do better.
The park is beautiful, but there needs to be a cleanup done here by caring volunteers. There was a lot of littered garbage from disrespectful visitors. Other than that its a 5 star park. I loved it, and so does the rest of my family. My daughter and I had an amazing time.

Highly recommend it is a beautiful park full of history. I visit it every year with my family because my grandpa grew up there. They have fun events such as ice cream socials and heritage day. It is the perfect spot for a wedding or photo shoot. There is a small trail there that is nice to walk on. The Beckman Mill is great for picnics, has a mill and museum (tours are available for both), a gift shop, fish ladder, and a dam. Great spot to go in all seasons. Highly recommend!
20 acres of landscaped paths & gardens, with tours of English-, Japanese- & French-themed areas.
This is a true gem to visit. Only an hour out of Milwaukee and *so* worth the drive. An immersion into nature and a contemplative haven. Beautifully designed and meticulously maintained garden vignettes, meandering paths, ponds, bridges, waterfalls and plenty of seating along the way—thanks to colorful Adirondack chairs thoughtfully place at the waters edge and benches throughout the gardens inscribed with inspirational quotes. I am looking forward to going back. Soon.

We love Rotary Garden! We love going there in warm weather but the best thing to see is the light display!! Every year they add more lights; they’re over one million lights! It can get really busy for the lights on weekends, especially when it gets closer to Christmas. We like to go early in December, right when they open at 4:30. We hang out near the entrance until it gets darker and then we enjoy the lights! They don’t allow anyone in the building right now because of covid, and there aren’t any tickets available for purchase on site. There are port-a-potties at the entrance and halfway through the route. There are limited concessions available for purchase on some nights. The route through the garden is one-way and directs you through all the decorated gardens and displays. There are several spots set up for family photos. It’s a fantastic spot to visit!

Visitng this late in the season comes with its own challenges of things being in bloom or not. But these gardens were very relaxing to stroll through even when things weren't in bloom. Look out for the hidden gems and take a break from the hassle and bustle of everyday life. Bonus: Chicago Botanical Garden Holders can use their annual passes to gain free entry to the gardens, so make sure to check out the gift shop before you leave!

If you go in to the visitor center, by the bathrooms, there's a really cool group of historical pictures showing the transformation of the site. I really think that this historical stuff should be less hidden. It truly shows you how much difference gardens can improve the ordinary.

This was our first year to look at the lights for the botanical garden light show. We enjoyed the different sections that were set up to take pictures. Small concession stands and a beautiful gazebo. As long as your children can stand the weather it is worth the walk. Some places did seem a little rushed just because the amount of people on certain trails. Almost turned into herding cattle. The parking lot was unbelievably full and parking was not well lit and we ended up parking on a busy road with little children. I really want to go back in the summer to see all of the beautiful landscaping and foliage.

Called on the way to the info. center. admission fees and locations were provided over the phone. Once we got there, fees doubled and we were informed that it wasn't one location, we had to pay for each building at a rate $30 vs. $5 per person. One of us stayed in the gift shop while the other used the bathroom and the staff was talking about us. We left and didn't take any tour. Not worth time, confusion, money or hassle.

The facility is beautiful and incredibly clean. Not only did we see the General Manager working just as hard as every one else, but at the end of the performance, the owner was greeting people as they came out of the theater. The service here was excellent! We were there for the Friday night buffet. The baked fish with peppercorn sauce was very good. The haddock had a pretty heavy breading, which made it a bit more greasy than we prefer. The chicken wasn't too bad either. The breading was soft vs. a little crisp or crunchy but had good flavor. Other items that were good were the Yukon gold potatoes, potato pancakes, and mac and cheese.

This was my first time to the Fireside, although my daughter and my parents have been attending for years. The service was outstanding, the food was tasty, and well thought out although the variety of options are not enormous. The theater in the round experience after the meal probably varies depending on the show, but the one we saw was really fun, and I've only heard good reviews from the shows I didn't get to attend. We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary and The show was outstanding. The cast phenomenal. It was my first time seeing a Broadway type show and I was floored. I did not need a 'SPOON FULL OF SUGAR' to help the delicious food to go down in a very delightful way thats for sure. Executive Chef J. Cook and his kitchens cooking was 'PRACTICALLY PERFECT' in every way. The wait staff were 'STEP IN TIME' with 'PRECISION AND ORDER'. I can't say enough about my experience. I typically don’t rate 5/5 stars, but this was very well deserved. Beginning with the service, our waitress was friendly, polite, and professional. She was helpful answering questions regarding the menu, and was highly efficient. The pace that the food was served was timed out perfectly, and the portions are well calculated. Tasting the food was on another level… the food was cooked at their respective rates. Posted is the appetizer, tomato soup. It was creamy and flavorful it came out hot, but not burning your mouth hot. The strawberry daiquiri was dangerous as little alcohol was tasted and the strawberry was very heavy. That being mentioned, it was delicious as it wasn’t too icy where I had to wait for it to melt. It was a perfect amount of slushy and hit the spot for an alcoholic drink before a show! The salmon, potatoes, cauliflower, and broccoli, with melted butter in a small side bowl is also pictured. The salmon was flakey, melted right in your mouth, and the seasoning was blissful. Potatoes were cooked just right, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Broccoli was buttery and savory along side with the cauliflower. Lastly, there was the black cherry chocolate cake. It was very most and fluffy. It was a nice light touch after a hardy meal and it definitely was the cherry on top! I’m not a huge fan of cherries, but the sauce did it justice. The temperature of the building was comfortable. The restaurant is a tad chilly, but after you sit for a while it gets warm. The theatre definitely gets warm with all the body heat, but it cooled down in the second half and made it for a pleasant second act. Overall the temperature of the building is comfortable, and I’m one to get cold easily and had no issues. Moving onto the show, it was something like no other. A square theatre, and intimate for actors and the audience to kind of “interact” with each other. It’s always laughter, smiles, light and warm conversations before and after!

I am SO happy with our visit! I got to bring my 6 month old with me and it was our very first time here and I just fell in love with this place! The shops are so adorable, the staff is extremely friendly and our waiter was just absolutely amazing. But the absolute best thing was the scrooge musical. Every single one of those cast members performed from their hearts and you can just tell how much they love to entertain just by how hard they have worked to put on such an amazing show. My little girl was just dancing away with the first song and the very last song, plus she got to wave to “the ghost of christmas past” at the very end and she had the biggest smile on her face. Thank you all so much for a great way to remember my daughter’s very first christmas! The pamphlet is going in her baby book for it being her very first musical. ❤️ Merry Christmas to you all!!!

The Fireside is a fantastic dining and entertainment experience in Wisconsin. I have been there many times over the past 25 years, and every visit was really good. The food stresses a quality over quantity approach, but you will be full by the final course. The theater is a unique experience, with audience seating on all four sides of the stage. There are no bad seats. Likewise, the quality of the performances is consistently excellent. This is a great place to celebrate an anniversary or birthday.
Country Charm. Picnic tables to relax. Ample parking along side and back. Cheese curds galore--herb (dill) flavor our fave! Hot Habañero Cheese Spread a flavorful joy! Wide selection cheeses, ice cream, and cheese cakes. Hand-made, colorful wooden cutting boards in several shapes & sizes: Round, Rectangular, State of Wisconsin.

Visited from out of state after randomly being recommended at another cheese farm.
No regrets!! We purchased two grilled cheeses that were the Best! Secret sauce on a Yellow Brick Road for the win!
A must stop experience!

Excellent 3 cheese and green onion melted cheese sandwich reminded of good old melted cheese sandwiches.

Amazing cheese and curds as well as the absolute best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. Definitely must go! The blueberry cream soda was also delicious.

Great cheese store and also have sandwiches. At least I had the triple grilled cheese. Cheese is made right on the premises. They cut it ( okay no jokes). They have their own special cheddar called stettler. Their yellow cheddar is either 6 months or 14 years. You heard right 14 YEARS! White cheddar 6 months. The prices are ridiculously low.

I picked up cheese on 07.28
I ordered 11 lbs of a variety of cheeses. I requested 1/4 lb wrapped. Thry have done it before. They wrapped in 1/2 lb pieces. I had to RE wrap.
I live in CA.
I give this as gifts every year. My friends like the label. I now am giving rewrapped plain pieces of cheese.
NOT happy in CA

As out of state visitors we joined a busy and excited crowd waiting for our order. The menu included toasted cheese sandwiches with a variety of choices of delicious cheeses. The option we chose in included a bag of chips and a choice of drink and to finish it off, a dish or cone with ice cream. A great bargain and very tasty. We sat under a umbrella shaded picnic table and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere while having our meal.

Come from Texas to get their aged cheddar. Decatur dairy cheese is by far the best. The people are super friendly and helpful. Had a huge order and got us taken care of just lickity split. (That's really fast in Texan 😀)

We had to ask to get waited on, but once we did the two who helped us were friendly. The grilled cheese sandwich with the special sauce was great. I had to ask for a sample, but he seemed more than happy to get me a couple.

We absolutely love their cheese. When I make my 5-6 cheese 2 meat lasagna, I get all my cheeses here except ricotta. That's the only cheese they don't have because it goes bad too fast. My husband has noticed the difference when I've made him lasagna these last 7 years and he says the cheese from this place makes the difference. You can't compare getting cheese straight from a dairy to a store when it comes to freshness and this place is nothing but freshness. It's a 35 min drive one way but it's worth it.

Super busy on Saturday but worth the wait. Tons of unique cheese. Love the curds. Nice and squeaky. Well known for their grilled cheese sandwich!

Wow, the grilled cheese sandwiches were excellent (pickleicious and smokey bandit with secret sauce of course), staff was friendly and helpful on the cheese selection. Prices were great so we ended up going back in to get some more after snacking with the sandwiches. So far the cheddar and Muenster curds, smoked gouda, and mushroom (and leek) Muenster are excellent and we've got a few more waiting still. Dogs were OK at the picnic tables out front.

Excellent cheese, so much better than the other well-known dairy in the area that we had been visiting as a family for decades. This is our new go-to spot. What a great find. I just used them to send a gift box to my sister in North Carolina and it went smoothly, and she is enjoying it all immensely! Highly recommend!

If you find yourself on a road trip seeking awesome cheese and scenery in southern Wisconsin, you won't find a better destination that Decatur Dairy. They have a full menu of amazing grilled cheese sandwich creations as well as yummy ice cream and plenty of outdoor seating. Their curds are beyond amazing and with so many varieties! Serious squeak appeal! I only wish they would offer a sample plate to be able to experience all of the curd goodness. Oh, did I mention they have an amazing selection of bulk cheese too, including several award winners? Go... there...now ❤️😋🧀

We drive 40 minutes to get our cheese from here. They have the best dairy products around and if you go at the right time, their grilled cheeses are to die for! Added bonus, you support a local business when you buy from here. Their cheese curds are also a must buy!
Wisconsin skydiving ROCKS. Friendly staff, and awesome crew. They take they're time to go over what's needed to know, and calm down the nerves. I loved their set up while we waited to jump too. Would love to jump with them again!

My first time skydiving and had such an amazing experience!! I came the weekend before I moved out of state and wanted to go out with a bang! My in laws and sis in law jumped multiple times here and I’ve always wanted to try it but had no one to go with! From start to finish everyone was super friendly and made the experience exciting even though I was really nervous. My instructor was really cool and made me feel reassured about everything! Definitely coming back when I visit home!

The staff is extremely friendly and makes sure that you feel comfortable before jumping.
You have various options to have someone record it with an action camera and they even edit a highlight clip afterwards.
Only downside is that you always wish you could have stayed in the air a little longer.

What an amazing experience! My wife got me the package as a gift after our good friend had been trying to convince me to go for a little while. 10/10. I was nervous, and somewhat terrified at first. That quickly drifted way once the team started working us through the process. The staff is absolutely wonderful! The owner is absolutely fantastic as well. From start to finish. The whole experience was one to remember. I actually purchased another jump because I want to go with my wife when I buy her a ticket so she can have the experience for herself as well! I hope I don't ever forget this! So amazing! Everyone should try skydiving at least once in their life.

Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to go skydiving, and it was an absolute thrill from start to finish! This adrenaline-pumping adventure deserves nothing less than a five-star rating.
Firstly, the staff at the Wisconsin Skydiving Center were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. They made me feel comfortable and safe throughout the entire experience. They took the time to explain every step of the process, from the equipment to the safety procedures, ensuring that I had a clear understanding of what to expect.
Skydiving yesterday was undoubtedly the experience of a lifetime, and I couldn't have been in better hands than with my instructor, Michael. His calm and positive demeanor made me feel safe and excited for my first jump.
I highly recommend Wisconsin Skydiving Center to anyone that is looking to skydive, whether it be your first time or not. Thank you again to Michael and the Wisconsin Skydiving Center team for making this birthday gift a memory I will never forget!

Elegant, intimate Victorian venue for community theater, touring bands & classical music concerts
Saw Michael Perry and the Long Beds and it was an amazing experience. Their music was mesmerizing and the stories hit so close to home.

This is a fantastically intimate venue, with some of the best entertainers in the business. My family and I just saw Chris Paterson and JD McPherson's Christmas show, and it was amazing. Check out the roster and go out and support the Stoughton Opera House. You will not be disappointed!
Josh Johnston — Google review
Amazing concert performance by Eilen Jewell and her band. Also a beautiful theater and extremely well preserved building, formerly city hall. The only reason for 4 stars is that the seats in the theater are wooden and extremely uncomfortable. A heads up would have been nice, "bring a stadium seat cushion" or something to that effect. Good news is a renovation to install seat cushions will commence this summer!
I will update to 5 stars after it is done.
Dylan Damkoehler (xedd72) — Google review
The Opera House is a gorgeous venue, very well restored and maintained, and offers comfortable seating for small stage presentations. The multi tiered seating is authentically early 20th century offering floor, mezzanine, and balcony points of view. Seating has been recently padded in a way to secure comfort without compromising the look and feel of the old theater. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. I would not hesitate to buy tickets for this venue if the act was of interest to me
Dennis Hood — Google review
A beautiful venue with great acoustics. I'm so glad the seats are now upholstered. The lounge area was really crowded before the show. The guys bathroom moved along at a good pace at intermission but the gals line was really long.
Pat Lehnherr — Google review
Great show and I appreciated the great acoustics. Worth the trip from suburban Chicago. The seats themselves were "authentic" which meant mostly wood and not as comfortable as modern seats. Part way through the show I took off my sweater and sat on it. You may want to bring your own seat cushion! If you are thinking dinner in town first, several (all?) neighboring restaurants in this small town fill up fast the night of the show so advance dinner reservations are recommended.

Wonderfully restored old building provides just the right venue for a wide variety of music and entertainment. Previously legendarily uncomfortable seats now have been nicely improved with luxurious padded seat cushions. If you have seats in the balcony section, be prepared for several flights of steep stairs. However, the view of the stage from there is perfect.

Only reason for losing a star was the pole directly in front of my seat. I don't recall any mention of obstructed view. Seats were cushioned and lounge had nice variety. Be prepared for stairs! Beautiful stage and venue.

Fun brewery to tour and a great gift shop. Unfortunately they are currently not open on the weekends. The beer garden is really nice. You have to buy tickets for beers. They have some common stuff on tap but also some you don't see often. Self guided tour was really great with plenty of information to make it a great experience. There’s a video about the entire history of the brewery, the family, and how “Spotted Cow” came to be. ADA accessible. Plenty of restrooms so you can take your time and be casual on your time here. There’s a sampling area, where you can buy a 3 drink sampler, or your favorite pint. If you're looking for a glimpse into Switzerland's history and culture without leaving the Midwest, the Swiss Historical Village Museum in New Glarus, Wisconsin is a must-visit. This charming features over 20 historic buildings that have been relocated and restored. From the moment you arrive, you feel transported back in time. Highlights include the 1890 Swiss Reformed Church, an original log cabin from 1845, and the 1910 Heitzig Bed and Breakfast where you can see what a period lodging house was like.
Wander along the cobblestone paths past artifacts like an 1890s telegraph machine and 19th century printing press. There are so many fascinating details around every corner. The Kundert Cheese Factory is especially interesting to see the antique cheesemaking equipment. You can also explore the 1890 one-room schoolhouse. The on-site Heritage Shop is also great for finding unique Swiss-inspired gifts and souvenirs. The guides are available for those who want to learn more about the history of the Swiss immigrants in the Midwest, and they are extremely knowledgeable and personable. Whether you have an hour or a whole afternoon, I'd highly recommend adding the museum to your New Glarus itinerary!

The Swiss Historical Village is a unique opportunity to learn about the settlers in New Glarus, WI through a self-guided walking tour.
New Glarus or the Swiss Colony was established in 1885 by the people emigrating from Canton Glarus, Switzerland 🇨🇭.
This village has both original and replica buildings. The tools, buggies, fire trucks and cheese kettle are original to the area. In fact the cheese factory will be making cheese again in October as part of Octoberfest.
The Olbrich Botanical Gardens is located on Madison's scenic waterfront and features a wide variety of themed gardens with plants from all over the world. Highlights include the glass-enclosed Bolz Conservatory and an elaborate Thai pavilion called a sala which is the only one of its kind in the continental United States.
Beautiful Gardens and their Conservatory is also really nice! Loved seeing tropical plants, water ponds and quails! The Gardens are free which is very nice, they do accept donations. The Conservatory is not free, but the ticket entrance is not expensive at all. Parking is also free which is nice. Will definitely be back once everything has bloomed.

This is a great botanical garden - my family has had a membership for years. We love walking around the outside areas when it's warm, and the indoor conservatory it's great in the winter.
Additionally, there are a few times a year when we always stop by:
- in the spring/summer they have a butterfly event where they raise butterflies and release them into the conservatory. You can walk around the area full of butterflies, if you're lucky one may land on you!
- in December they have their holiday express event, where they put together displays and incorporate model trains from enthusiasts in the area. It's always a ton of fun, and they generally have a search and find page for the kids.
This year's holiday express was carnival themed, which was a ton of fun.

Was beautiful. The walk through of the orchids took about 1 hour. Was hot and humid inside because that's the natural habitat for the orchids, so dress in layers that you can remove.
The flowers were awesome! There was also some orange trees, trees, berry trees, cocoa trees and other little surprises. We'll worth the price of admission!
Check out the many photos!

We had a great time listening to music, walking around, and exploring the gardens both inside & out. It was a special fundraiser that was relaxing and fun. The music was just the right, you could hear each other talking, not to loud. There were little pockets to sit in, with just a few others. They also had a cash bar for drinks. All in all, fun, friends, and helping raise money for a worthy cause.

The information desk representative was an exceptional gentleman and very informative/helpful. Great place for family’s and tourists to see a beautiful garden. I was able to get a lot of amazing photos of the plants and they put a lot of love and effort into their establishment. I would say be warned as one of the younger female staff looked tired/bored and seemed to have a tiny bit of an attitude when I asked her a question. Beyond that, some people I had the displeasure of crossing paths with seemed to be bothered with people taking photos, when the website actually encourages you to bring your camera for memorable photos. It seems like some of the visitors here think they are above other people and incredibly snobby. No fault of the staff but would just recommend to watch out for the rude pretentious people that visit this establishment.
If you can ignore people acting a little weird/rude, this place is an absolute gem. Outside garden are free, the conservatory was $6/person. Great value and great memories!

We only had time for a quick visit in January so we spent about 30 minutes in the conservatory and did not get to walk outside. They conservatory was great! It's such a peaceful atmosphere. It's very relaxing to look at plants, hear the birds and waterfalls, and feel the tropical climate. A little smaller than other similar places we've visited, but still enough to see. The birds were a great touch. We got to see a quail poke around and the canaries were quite vocal. You can also see a few koi in the water. Many orchids and bromeliads and other interesting plants with great color.

A scheduled stop on a road trip with my son back in 2022. First, this place was a lot bigger than I had expected! We visited in early June and unfortunately, it was too early for the flowers. There were some but not many in bloom yet. That was a bummer. However, the weather was beautiful and we wanted to see the Thai Pavilion and Conservatory. Well, we got handed our second strike and the Conservatory was booked for a wedding and closed to the public. On a positive note, it saved us the cost of entry because the grounds were free to enter. So, we walked the park grounds and took pics of the few flowers we did see and made our way to the Thai Pavilion. Wow! The pavilion is spectacular! It shines in the sun like a palace! We got some great photos of it. We walked through some of the trails in the park but came to the realization that the flowers just aren't going to bloom for us and decided to go. The park is beautiful and I'm sure the Conservatory is great. I bet July & August are the best times to visit. All the flowers would be in bloom by then. I highly recommend this place!

I enjoyed coming here with my family even during the fall time. it was our first time coming here. We loved the tropical green house and walking around. I give this a 5 star for the sweet ladies who helped my father who was hard time walking. they were so helpful and accommodating. I would love to come back during the summer time!

The Orchid Escape exhibition is the best! I love the tropical setting and dinosaur theme, the gorgeous flowers and plants, and the friendly animals. 10/10 best experience for friends, family, and lovers 🦕🌴

The Gardens had a beautiful orchid show when we visited in the Conservatory. The outside gardens were still a nice walk even in February.

The gardens were a breath of fresh air to walk through and get to learn about some of the plants and flowers. A great activity to do with family. The light displays are always so pretty too.

Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? This place is drop dead gorgeous and the entrance fee is paltry. I came well past the prime season and they still had great things for me to see. I spent 2.5 hours here.
The Henry Vilas Zoo is a great place to visit with kids if you're in Madison, Wisconsin. It has animals from all over the world, plus a variety of gifts and food options for visitors.
What A Amazing Free Zoo, That’s Correct It’s 2022 And There Is Still Something That’s Fun To Do And Free🤘You Can Do The Right Thing And Donate Anything You Can Afford To Give - They Still Enjoy Giving Extra Care To Their Animals!! So Many Different Animals In Such A Beautiful Layout!! Keep Up The Great Carr And The Great Work Of Running Such A Beautiful Zoo!! I Went Multiple Times As A Kid And Now I’ve Taken My Kids To This Zoo!! Great Place To Spend The Day Or Days!! There Is A Lake Near By You Can Enjoy As Well!! Give Those Donations To Them Please And Thank You, This Is What Keeps Them Going!!

I love this little zoo!! It's on the smaller side, but there are plenty of animals to visit. The updates and expansions they've done over the past few years to the enclosures have been great to see. It's a free zoo, but always still plan to bring a donation, because of course taking care of all these beautiful creatures is not free!

We visited in May before the season started. The zoo wasn't very crowded. Some of the animals were not visible, but it was a nice day for a walk anyway. Depending on the time of year, time of day, feeding schedule, and sleeping times, it's not always possible to see all the animals in most zoos. The Henry Vilas Zoo could perhaps be considered a mid-size zoo, and that is an advantage, making the zoo easy to navigate, and not exhausting to explore. There seem to be plenty of friendly staff assisting visitors and caring for the animals. Visiting the zoo is free, but donations are welcome.
Greg Johnson — Google review
It’s the perfect size zoo. I wish there were more animals but what we did see looked to be enjoying themselves. Grizzlies foraging for bugs. The polar bear was swimming and then rolling in mud. The tiger was taking a nap in the sun. The lions were roaming. The river otter was swimming. I didn’t like seeing that the orangutan was all by itself though. I think some of these animals need company.
The carousel is lovely. The gift shop is extremely expensive now but, inflation. All in all this is a nice zoo and it’s free. Parking is free as well. We had fun.

It is amazing how the zoo has changed over the years. No more giraffes, camels, penguins. But they still have a lot of other critters to see. A bottle of water was $5.26. Yikes. Kids still love the zoo but I suggest a nice picnic before going in.

We love coming to this zoo. It's the perfect size for little kids to be able to walk and not get too worn out. It's nice in the winter too, if you bundle up and it's not too cold you can still have a great experience. The lions are often active and roaring. The polar bear is very active and likes to swim. There is a family of 5 otters to see too. We miss being able to go into the monkey and reptile area that has been closed to the public since COVID started. In the summer time the playground is open and is a great place to run around and play.
J Hyttsten — Google review
I was glad to see that they have more animals now, there's more places to eat/snack inside the zoo. Last time we were here(6 yrs) they were doing some construction and they didn't have a lot of animals. We all had a great time. My personal favorite was the tiger. There is no fee to enter the zoo, they just ask for a donation. The parking lot is small so I would recommend going early. You can also park on the street around the park.

Henry Villas Zoo is definitely one of the best zoos in Wisconsin. First of all, it's FREE. Yes, you read that correctly. There's no cover charge. The exhibits are well laid out and there are some pretty unique and amazing creatures here. Our favorites are the orangutan family (and a baby orangutan, she's so adorable!!), Tiger, lions, rhinoceros, giraffe, polar bear, otters, anaconda, and MORE! The park isn't excessively large & is well laid out. There's an amazing kids plaza area (seriously, it's incredible). The store is a must see and definitely purchase some stuff to help them keep up the park and superb animal care.

We always have an absolutely great time at this zoo. There us a wide array of animals, as well as a few buildings with other animals. Wonderful playground and children's zoo. There were lots of baby animals when we went today. Also Joe near the exit at guest services was THE NICEST person ever. My kids loved interacting with him and getting a stamp
Taylor Haile — Google review
Really nice zoo. We went on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded. If recommend going early in order to find parking. The animals seemed well cared for and appeared to have appropriate enrichment and good conditions, as well as places to escape the crowds. I would definitely visit again and enjoyed this zoo significantly more than many of the highly recommended commercialized zoos in the country. The zoo staff were friendly and knowledgeable as well.

Great place to take our animal loving children on vacation! A 4 yr old and a 6 yr old found a lot of things to be joyful about even in the cold of March and the rainy/snowy weather! Great playground, cool art/sculptures, and great animal views!

Nice place to visit during weekend. Lots of animals. Kids will enjoy for sure. There is no entry fee. But you can donate at the entrance for your visit. Rhino, giraffe, tiger and lion were very active during our visit.

If you want to have a nice little walk around a beautiful park with the family and see some animals while doing so this is a great place to go. It's small but quaint with a nice variety of animals and plenty of fun things for your little ones to do. Entrance is free which is another plus. Only issue was parking which is why I gave it a 4 star rating.
Cynthia Melendez — Google review
This Zoo has a surprisingly good selection of animals and exhibits for a free to public zoo. The weather was a little cool that day, but it seemed to have been favorable to most of the animals, too. I wanted to give it 5 stars because for a free zoo (they do take donations), they do a good job overall with the animals and exhibits. The only thing that seemed it could be better was some basic maintenance here and there, especially with cleaning up the glass on some of the exotic animal exhibits. This is a great little getaway for half a day or so with the family or just anyone who appreciates the animals and nature. I'd love to see what they could do with this place should the city pump some money into the zoo. You'd think with all those taxes in the Madison area, they could put some of it to use for the public by investing in public spaces like the zoo. Overall, I definitely recommend this place, and they have some land and picnic tables out by the parking lots as well, so pack a lunch or snacks it's a great little half day or so getaway.
Austin Waddick — Google review
This zoo is just the right size for a day trip. Very manageable to navigate and see a wide variety of animals. The only place it gets crowded is inside the reptiles exhibit. The primates building is probably the highlight especially if you are able to catch the monkeys playing.
I would recommend coming through the back entrance that is on Vilas Park Drive. Much more available parking back there.

large variety of animals, well-kept and clean grounds, free entry, variety of food spots (including a chocolate shoppe ice cream). I have such great memories of coming here when I was a little toddler and it’s nice to see that the quality of this zoo has stayed consistent. I love how close you can see all of the animals, especially the giraffe. We ate at mickies dairy bar then spent the afternoon here. What a great day!

Very nice layout and decent amount of animals that we saw for the zoo's size. Wished the avian flu outbreak wasn't around which quarantined all their birds but we did get a glimpse of the Flamingos.
Recommend for all ages.

My family and I travel quite a bit and have been to many zoo's, with that being said I didn't have high expectations for this zoo - especially since it's free. I was seriously so impressed, it is one of the cleanest zoos I have been to! It's not huge, but it's a perfect size for my kiddos to manage without being exhausted. There's a good variety of animals and all enclosures are well maintained and clean. We had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend it!

Having traveled all over the USA, coming back to Madison has showed me how great this zoo really is. Not only is it free, but it is clean, friendly, and fun for the family. The animals all look happy, healthy, and taken care of with clean enclosures. For a free zoo… this zoo is a must see when you come to Madison!

Very nice zoo with active, happy animals! It has lots of exhibits, bathrooms, eating areas, and a huge playground area, I also love the goats.
The Wisconsin State Capitol is an imposing and elegant Beaux-Arts building that dominates the central skyline of Madison. Completed in 1917, its marble and mahogany-clad interior is full of magnificent murals and mosaics. The dome atop the building is bested by Daniel Chester Frenchs exquisite overlaid bronze statue, Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin State Capitol is simply a stunning building. Everyone that is able should take a half hour to walk through this incredible structure. Photos don't do the majesty justice, and you really need to see it for yourself. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area or passing nearby.

Today, we had a tour of the Capitol Building in Madison, Wisconsin. The tour was awesome, and the tour guide was awesome! It was very interesting, and I learned so much. Street parking was available, and the tour group was small. I highly recommend a visit to this place.

This building is so beautiful. They offer free guided tours and I definitely recommend going on one. Our guide was able to take us to places we didn't know about, told us all kinds of interesting facts, and was really friendly. I had no idea we could go up to the observation tower, or that there was a small museum up there! So much fun for free!

This is an absolutely gorgeous building, I haven't had a single moment I walked into the Capitol Building and it hasn't felt like the first time. The details are all absolutely perfect and if you're able to pet the nose of the Badger outside the Governor's office, please do! They also offer FREE tours during the weekdays along with being able to go up to the observation deck!

We had a lovely afternoon visiting the Capitol building for one of the free tours! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we saw a ton of badgers along the way! The building is magnificent, especially with the Christmas tree and holiday decorations up! The holiday choir was performing as an added plus. Don’t miss the observation deck under the rotunda for even cooler views!

This place is as gorgeous and interesting to explore as it is important to our state. Marble from floor to ceiling, some imported and not without stories! Take the guided tour and they'll tell you all about it! The capital is extremely impressive, every detail is meticulous. It is a state treasure! Coming in at $7.2 million dollars back in the early 1900s. This is a must see if you are visiting Madison, WI.

I love that you can come in and look around for free. I highly recommend going to the top and taking a look outside. There are stairs leading to the very top after you take an elevator to the 4th floor. Public restrooms available inside as well. During the holiday season they have a beautiful tree lit up with children’s ornaments. It’s beautiful. Definitely worth checking out!

The architecture of this state capitol building is nothing short of impressive! The design of both the exterior and interior was stunning, and the view from the observation deck is excellent! The best place inside the capitol building to stand and take pictures is at the very center right underneath the dome. This is a must see when you’re visiting Madison!

What a unique place! I discovered quite a bit of United States history here. And the paintings are beautifully painted. Lots of architecture to take a look at. And plenty of bathrooms on every floor. If you're looking for a place to sit down, there are leather chairs outside the supreme court courtroom on the second floor, in addition to benches outside the Capitol itself

Insanely beautiful building, gorgeous stone throughout. My family decided to go on the free tour. Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. My husband uses a wheelchair frequently when going out, and this gentlemen let us know where to go to meet and always made sure we were at the right elevator to rejoin the group. He was very very knowledgeable and informative. The observation deck was outstanding as well, definitely recommended going up there

Several times I've wanted to stop here but just didn't have a lot of time. Finally had a chance to take a stroll around the perimeter. It's an interesting capitol building where you're not quite sure where the front is (maybe there is none). There was some renovation going on but nothing too bad. We were able to find street pay parking immediately but one with a very short time limit.

The state capital building is phenomenal.
I enjoyed the magnificent views with an amazing architecture. The ceiling, interior design with huge pillars and with vintage ceiling equipment can't make our eyes even to give a blink
Come to 107 State for a cozy atmosphere and Wisconsin made dishes. They have a great selection of pasta dishes, craft cocktails and Italian influences. The Syndicate is the perfect place to raise a glass with friends, or enjoy some delicious Italian food.
We had one issue with our food that was remedied immediately - super service and awesome food- been there twice and will continue to go

I like this downtown restaurant. On State St, about a block from the Capitol Square. I loved the dark atmosphere. Cool jazz music playing. Besides not being very loud in there, the booths help make it easy to have a conversation. The rough brick wall also helps to break up any noise.
Our server was very friendly and the timing of her check-ins was good.
First off, I liked the bread. Besides being complementary, each piece was crunchy on one side and warm & buttery on the other. The roasted mushroom crostini was a great way to start the meals. It was crunchy chewy, with the expected sweetness from the cheese and glaze.
My salmon crunchy outside and soft moist inside. The garlic lemon sauce was a great added flavor. The shrimp scampi also tasted great, although a bit too heavy on the garlic. The Bliss Burger was a tasty burger dripping with juicy goodness. The accompanying fries tasted just McDonald's fries, but a little less salty. The meat in the Ziti with Ragu was a nice combo of hearty meat with soft tender tasty ziti.
The waitress passed by with plates of desserts that looked real good, but we were just too full. ....Next time.
Overall, I really liked this upscale city tavern.

Good spot if you're too drunk to care what you eat and your favorite cocktail ingredient is simple syrup. We kept it simple and ordered burgers. His came under cooked and mine came without the $3.50 bacon addition and any toppings whatsoever. Once the bacon came, it was two inches long seared on one side and completely raw on the other. The manager seemed intoxicated, but was nice enough. He offered to comp the burger, which is why I offered three stars. My friends all had similar stories, so I felt the need to write a review.

Stopped in after a show at the Overture Center on a Friday night. We got there just after the kitchen was closed so can't speak to the food. The drinks we ordered were both mediocre for the price. One was flavorless the other was basically just dominated by the shake of spice put on top. We sat at the bar where you'd expect good service in a fairly empty restaurant, but instead I would describe it as subpar. I sat with an empty drink for more than enough time that I might have ordered a second drink that might have redeemed the place, but instead gave up and just got the check. With a location so close to the square and Overture Center this place really seems to miss the opportunity as a late night stop. Definitely better options close by.

While visiting from out of town, I decided to take my wife here for her birthday. Man! This was some of the most delicious, tastiest, visually pleasant food I've had in Madison. The salmon alone is now in my top 3 all-time. The lamb chops were grilled tender to perfection. But the highlight of the night was the mushroom crostini appetizer. We have never tasted a mushroom dish with such unbelievable blends of flavor at any restaurant in life! Take a look at my photos, and you be the judge.

We went to 107 State for dinner before Overture event(5:30p.m.). Staff was great. Appetizer was good. Burgers were awful. My cheeseburger was ordered medium rare-it was a well done hockey puck . Both burgers were. This was burger week!!! I was offered a remake. I said no as we did have an event to attend. We were given $ off. Thank you. Please clean and deodorize your bathrooms. There seems to be some sort of sewage issue.

I like the troll vibe of the restaurant. I ordered the grandpa root beer, salt and pepper chicken wings and the sirloin “frites” the wings are good and my steak could have been a little more cook but it was good too and the service was good.

Don't make a mistake, make a reservation instead. We're so glad we did with the event at the overture we were not aware of. Our experience was amazing.
Cocktails:
-Espresso Martini - perfect compliment of bitter coffee and sweet
-Glass of recommended Red - wife enjoyed 2 glasses
-House Signature Manhattan - always a fan of big rock + presentation
Appetizer:
-Roasted Mushroom Crostini - loved every bite
-Caesar Salad - healthy portion with hint of anchovy
Main:
-Fettuccini ala Scampi: I scouted this item out ahead of time, and was the perfect marriage of lemon, garlic, and butter. Shrimp cooked perfectly.
-Mushroom Ragu: This was another recommendation from our server, Jen. A combination of shiitake, baby bella, and oyster. My wife loves mushrooms so this was an absolute hit.
-Grilled Lamb Chops: We were craving pasta but could not pass up this dish. Super tender bone-in lamb complimented with Green Beans with a garlic butter finish. You cannot go wrong!
Overall, we finished our cocktails at the bar and held a friendly conversation with the staff before we took off. Everything was great, loved the intimate setting. Compliments to Nate, Jen, Kitchen + Bar Staff!

I LOVE this place! The last restaurant iterations in this space have been truly lacking, so I was very dubious about the new joint. However, my fears were QUICKLY assuaged. This place ROCKS! The burgers and steak are delicious. (I haven't had the pasta, but it looks great too!). And don't miss the cheesecake! It took me several visits to give in, and I was mad at myself for not eating it before! The staff are all really great and friendly and make this place feel very, very welcoming!
Update: I have ordered several pastas, and they are as delicious as I hoped. Every one! Recommend everything from this place!

If i could give more stars, I would. I arrived in a wheelchair. My friend was having trouble pushing me through the door. One of the employees rushed to the door to help me. With her help, the door was easy. They seated us immediately. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, mushroom crustini. The toast had crunch, the topping was creamy, and the mushrooms were plentiful. We ordered dinner; Steak Frites and Shrimp Scampi. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the fries were amazing! Everything was seasoned to perfection; spice but not overpowering. Delicious! I'll be back soon!

It would only take a blink to miss 107 State, but recommend keeping your eyes open to try this cozy little spot on State Street. Reservations are highly recommended if you want a table (we ended up sitting at the bar).
My wife had tonight's special, Fusilli Brisket (on the regular menu with lamb) which was a delicious and tender combination. I had The Old Fashioned burger which was cooked to perfection and also delicious! I also added the bacon to mine, which calling it bacon is such and statement, it is really a burger sized slab of pork belly (which was amazing! )
The staff was friendly and attentive, and overall a welcoming little spot almost hidden on State.

Discovered this place just walking down the street looking for a place to eat. Signage is horrible but everything else is A++. Great food, cozy atmosphere and fantastic service! Will definitely be going back.
Greg Meyers — Google review
Service was terrible, and it took our server ages between visits to our table. Appetizers were brought out concurrently with entrees—just what everyone wants, to let their food get cold while eating their salad. Spaghetti was mediocre, with way too much cheese, but others at our table did enjoy their entrees, so I’ll bump the food bit of the rating a smidge. The wings were quite good though, even if the sauce left something to be desired. The night ended with a large bill that the server awkwardly danced around trying to figure out who to give it to, which is definitely on us for not asking for separate checks upfront, but as it becomes more the norm to ask how to handle the check in a larger, varied group, it just was a tad disappointing—and this, like everything else, took the server way too long both to bring and take payment. And then there’s the credit card surcharge. I get it, the fees are high from the card processors. But it’s part of doing business. In a world that is increasingly more “touchless”, expecting normal people to just have $300+ in cash is a bit unrealistic, and it’s not safe to let one’s debit card leave their sight. Everything should always be purchased on credit.
The Memorial Union at the University of Wisconsin Madison is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The Terrace offers stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a happy hour with friends. With reasonable prices on excellent Wisconsin beers, including local options, it's a great place to unwind and take in the beautiful sunset. The food options are reminiscent of stadium fare, adding to the laid-back vibe.
The Union is part of my morning exercise routine, when I can walk outdoors. Always a welcoming place with a great view.
Absolutely huge antique mall!! We were there for at least 3 hours and I didn't get through all of it. Lots of great booths with all kinds of treasures. Ample parking. When you first walk in there are about 5-6 tables and chairs for sitting & taking a break, a little snack bar area (very minimal, premade offerings). If you love antiques and treasure hunting, this is a definite place to add to your bucket list.

Super cute & incredible experience. My best friend & I went here a few days ago it was a magical feeling we went thru 3 floors but now I'm seeing people say there are 4! Everywhere you turn is something cool & unique to see. The lady at the register was sweet & friendly I missed her name but she was great. I feel like we need a map of the place! We went to leave & ended up in another room, lol I hope to visit again their prices are very reasonable I got this adorable antique high chair to put in my doll room. HUGE MALL with something for everyone. We spent about 4 hours and that was going through it pretty quickly. My whole family enjoyed it and everyone found something. I bought a vintage Jeanette Glass pink cake plate for way cheaper than what I would have spent on eBay. My son is a NASCAR fan and he bought a jacket. My daughter collects Breyer horses and -oh my goodness- horses everywhere. She loved it and of course found a few new ones to add to her collection. If you love vintage glassware, this place is A MUST SEE. We will be back!! Be sure to check their website because they offer 20% off basically everything $10 or more for one weekend every month.

great place!! Super big! almost dare I say..tooooo big? I recommend starting up stairs at the furniture and then going to the rest (seems hit or miss with furniture but someee cool stuff that was priced pretty fairly or low even)
I bought these beautiful Russel Wright dinner set (4 dinner plates/ 4 side plates/ 4 bowls/ and 2 big low wide bowls)
I would’ve bought another plate in the set but I had no more CASH and the ATM wasn’t working with my card. Yes they are CASH or CHECK ONLY!!! (I literally dug in my car for .45 to pay for these plates)
Also, A10 (I think name of the booth owner) plzzz plzzzz label your plates with literally anything else!! I’ve been scraping these beautiful plates for 40 mins :/

We found this amazing place while we were camping at Astico Park many many moons ago.
We have enjoyed going back to reminisce when we see all the amazing toys we played with as kids. However, we never leave empty-handed the deals are absolutely phenomenal if you know how to look for them. There is definitely something for everyone.
Definitely plan on this being a multi trip adventure because you'll never truly get through all of it in a day.

Great antique mall. It is huge! We have been back several times and still haven't seen everything. They have basically everything there. My suggestion though is if you see something you like but you're not 100%, grab it anyway and think about it as you browse more, because it could be gone otherwise. Very popular place, especially on weekends. Prices are decent. We will shop here for a long time I think.

If you're enjoy the hunt for cool stuff. This is the place. Three floors packed with antique and vintage items. Staff are always friendly and professional more than expected. Like others do, I would book a couple of nights at a Columbus hotel/vacation rental to possibly make it all the way through the mall. The building is a little dated. But....we don't go to look at the building. I believe it is only cash or check. They do have an ATM machine near drinks and snacks for purchase while you take a break.

Wonderful eclectic mall. I have found a piece of fine art for $18 to a rosewood table and chairs at $300. It is quite large so give yourself plenty of time by coming in early. They close at 4. It is also very clear that they offer a great opportunity for locals to have a secondary source of income. Support them.

1-hour guided tours are offered of this cave with stalactites & stalagmites, plus a souvenir shop.
An exceptional cave, displaying the earthly wonder world and teaching us the geological and evolution history.
It’s thrilling to walk in a relatively large cave. Display boards and the stationed staff provide more educational insights !
Don’t forget to see the colorful display of the “time machine and transformation of various minerals” while in the dark.
An educational exhibit, no the geological history, for the entire family.
Good approach roads and plenty of car parking at the facility.

It was a beautiful setting. A few different hiking trails with beautiful scenery as well. They make it fun with little scavenger hunts you can do and all of it is self-paced. You may have to get creative in entertaining yourself if you're trying to stay there for more than an hour to hour and a half as there is not much to do other than the cave and the gift shop. Still worth the trip because the cave was beautiful! I love that they had workers stationed throughout the cave and giving the guests little tidbits of information. Especially the freedom to walk past if you were not interested or to stay and get more insight.

This really is a fun inexpensive place to visit. It was my first time here. So much to learn and do. Staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. Facility was clean and well kept. The cave itself is pretty incredible and the story on how it was discovered. A definite must see in Wisconsin. Ticket prices are very reasonable and the all year pass is $6.99 for unlimited visits!!! Highly recommend!

This was undoubtedly the best cave I’ve visited in recent years! I was especially impressed with the amount of stalagmites, stalactites, and underground ponds of water that were prevalent throughout the cave. Also, occasionally keep an eye out for a couple fossils embedded on the roof of the cave!

Excellent experience, very fun and instructive. You will learn or recall your knowledge about different kinds of rocks, minerals, and more. My favorite part... experiencing almost absolute darkness and then the fluorescent minerals. Don't forget to bring or rent an UV flashing.... for sure you will be one of the coolest in the excursion and everyone will try to stay close to you.... 70 feet under ground temperature is very stable.... bring a light jacket, or you will be sweating.... If you have a young kid (my son is 2)... there are tons of stairs and wet, so it will be slippery. The entire tour is around 30 minutes.

My first cave, was a very pretty cave. I highly recommend getting a black light and a bag, worth it in my opinion. Not very claustrophobic place, there was only one spot we needed to turn sideways to get through but most of it is very open and the whole thing has a walkway. Staff was very friendly. Our guide was knowledgeable.

Went on double date here on a Saturday at 3. It was a really cool experience and wasn't packed. The guides along the tour were very knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed their work! Great place to check out as an adult or especially with the kids!

Such a great place to visit. Of you haven't been there before, I would recommend it! There are a lot of fun things to do for the kids as well. Just make sure to dress accordingly unless you like cooler temperatures!

This is the teeny-tiny version of Carlsbad Caverns. If you've never, ever seen a cave, then go here. The guide we had was informative, but couldn't answer all my questions, one of which was do you go permanently blind if you come out of a cave after getting cave-blindness. Which you supposedly get after being in a pitch-black cave for an extended period of time. Does that last forever? He didn't know, but I hope he finds out so the next person who asks will get an answer. The tour is pretty short, less than an hour. You do get interrupted by other groups going past, and you do hear other guides talking when you're trying to listen to your guide, but again, this is a teeny-tiny version of a huge cave, so I guess it's to be expected. The grounds are beautiful, the hillside garden is pretty, and the beer garden is very pleasant. If you have seen a huge cave, skip this. If you have kids under 15 that you need to entertain, go here.
Marilyn Besasie — Google review
We were the only ones on the tour, probably because it was in the 20s today and the Monday after Thanksgiving. Plan your visit on a day when it's not busy. That's the best! So cool! And the stories and history are really interesting. Definitely worth the visit!
Suzy Keidel — Google review
We went on a day when lots of families were there on spring break, but the staged entry times kept it from getting crowded in the cave. The new visitor center was nice, although it seems as though they have yet to move most of their operations there.
I have been in some spectacular caves, so this was not as impressive as I have seen, but it was very well lit and developed. It was both intimate and spacious.
Tom Wanamaker — Google review
This was a fun experience that is worth a day trip for! We went on a cold and rainy day, which prevented us from having a picnic and hiking around the park like we originally planned, but the cave was tons of fun and still made the trip worth it. We spent about an hour in the cave on the self guided tour.
Taylor Beck — Google review
This place is super cool. Literally! There's so much to do one could plan a day trip. Parents can sit in the beer garden as the kids go sift rocks or play in the gardens. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the line to get tickets wasn't very long at all. Highly recommend! It's a beautiful experience.
Caasi Heckman — Google review
Well-managed, clean, and educational. The guides are polite and knowledgeable and the bathrooms easily accessible.
The tours are spaced apart and self-paced. The cave is quite cool (we visited in summer) and a sweatshirt was pleasant. The cave is well-lit and the paved path is even and easy to traverse.
There are some narrow points and places where taller folks might need to tilt their heads down. I had a few brushes with anxiety, and I would not bring anyone with more than mild claustrophobia down. There are some large areas at the beginning of the tour that should be fine for those who don't love enclosed spaces, and it is very easy to turn back if you start feeling overwhelmed.
Wear shoes you're comfortable traversing wet concrete in. The cave gets pretty wet as you go deeper.
If underground isn't for you, there are some nice above ground trails for easy walks and some lovely gardens planted around the buildings. Botany nerds will rejoice in the variety and the rock-inclined will have a variety of geode displays and the standard rock shop to poke through.

First ever experience visting a cave and this cave didn't disappoint. We visited as a family with young kids and everyone loved it. The staff members are present at various points inside the cave to answer any questions or share cool facts. All staff was very friendly and the gift shop is also great. Parking was not a problem at all.

Fun and educational half day experience right here in Wisconsin! Go down 70 feet and back in time 100 million years to see some earth level history up close and personal. Please be aware there are a few tight spots and a lot of stairs as you navigate the cave's twists and turns. Fantastic and affordable gift shop with all kinds of cool geological stuff too.

Very cool place to take the whole family! They have black lights available and you can see some areas in the cave glowing. The scenery is just beautiful. There's a cute gift shop and relaxing beer garden. We bought one of the treasure buckets and you are able to sift through the sand to find your own treasures. My kids are 4 and 5 and they had so much fun exploring the cave and then finding goodies afterward.

I took my 5 year old nephew here today and we had SO MUCH FUN. Our tour guide, Chris, was fantastic. He was super knowledgeable, friendly and great with the kiddos. Renting the UV Flashlight was the best investment, my nephew loved that.
My nephew loved the little “mining station” they have out front. I got him a $15 bag of sand with gems and he had a blast sifting through it to get all of the gems. He could have done that all day.

Last time I visited the cave was in the sixties. It's changed since. It's an easy self guided tour or with a tour. Excellent gift shop too. I'm knocking one star due that the entry fee is a tad steep for a roughly 45 minute tour of the cave, that really not that huge compared to other caves I've visited. But for a Wisconsin cave, it's worth the visit.

This is one of the smaller caves I’ve been in. Tour is short but I did enjoy seeing everything. This is a short drive if you want to get away from Wisconsin Dells for a bit. I took off a star because $22 is kind of pricey for such a short experience. I’m sure people know this but it’s actually warmer in the caves than it is outside especially when it’s winter. They have a small souvenir shop if you want to pick up something. Tour guide was informative and knowledgeable.

I love these caves. Great tour and excellent guides that answer questions and have fun. The new visitor center is looking great. The beer garden and surrounding activities are fun. The Christmas lights are on display and look cool. When you take the tour rent the the blacklight it adds to the fun of the tour.

When we got there we were moved to a different time 30 minutes away because of our large group.
It was a very fun experience and I enjoyed looking at all of the different types of stones and different other materials, I got a lot of different photos without being rushed.
Got a container of rocks, strawberry soda, a large stuffed bat, a star crystal, and a medium bat I got earlier before we went in and the guy at the cashier was really nice. He taped up the container of rocks for us and he told us about people who said the strawberry soda tasted like strawberriy or cherry pie. We named the medium bat Larry after the cashier we had.

What an absolutely beautiful winery and distillery tucked away in Wisconsin. The facility was much larger than we expected and it was truly gorgeous. Well maintained and picture perfect. The wine tasting was wonderful, even the The tasting bar was a bit too crowded, our server Stacie was amazing and we truly enjoyed our time with her. The wines were superb and I truly enjoyed the variety. We purchased several bottles to go and enjoyed a glass on the upper patio. Staff were very friendly and kind. We walked into the distillery, but did not have time for a drink, but that is on our next visit as we look forward to returning. I highly recommend putting Wollersheim on your bucket lists when visiting Wisconsin.

This place is amazing! The food at the Bistro and the wine are not that expensive either! The parking spot is a little walk to the Bistro and Winery so you would need flats to walk on, specially if you are used to wearing high heels like me. When you order your food at the Bistro, they let you choose where to sit; we chose to sit outside by the "hobbit" house looking cave where they used to store wine back in the old days. If you decide to come here, your experience will be worth it!

Really loved our time there. Great glass of wine in a beautiful setting. I had never been there and had heard a lot about it. Open noon to 5 daily. Found aome potential gifts like Old Fashioned kit and lots of wine and brandy options. Will be back for sure.

We totally enjoyed our afternoon at Wollersheim. We started with a lovely lunch from the Bistro and a glass of wine. We then went to the distillery for delicious Old Fashions. The grounds are landscaped so lovely with a very relaxing atmosphere.

I would give 5 stars, except the wine tasting experience was so underwhelming. $10 for four 1oz pours in tiny glasses. You barely have a chance to experience the wine, and the tasting fee is not even comped when you buy something from the shop. It's definitely a better idea to buy a bottle and enjoy it outside. The grounds are beautiful. We had a wonderful experience at the Bistro. We got the pigs in a blanket for the kids, the Roma flatbread (which was more like a pizza), and the Frenchy sandwich. The food was good, and the service was fantastic! My son accidentally dropped the tray when carrying it back to our seat, and the sandwich hit the ground. They remade the sandwich and even brought a cookie! The Distillery was the last stop on our tour. All the drinks on the drink menu looked delicious, and it was really relaxing to grab a drink and sit on the patio. While this is no California wine tasting, the overall experience is very nice, and for those visiting Madison, it's a scenic 30 minute drive.

The winery is beautiful and continues to grow with an ever expanding selection wines and liquors at the distillery. The wine that we were able to taste is still wonderful. The selection of Brandy, Rye, and Absinthe were excellent.
Unfortunately they were not doing tours or showing their video of the history of the winery. My wife and I had been there many times but we brought a friend who had never been there before. After all we told her about the winery she had expected a little more. She did leave a little disappointed.

Very nice winery. Our family enjoyed our visit. There was one rude cashier. She scolded our 14 year old for walking upstairs, even though the sign said it was open to the public. We purchased 2 wine tastings and four bottles of wine. Very pretty flowers and nice grounds to walk and visit.

This visit to the winery was a failure on my behalf. Their hours are from 12:00 to 5:00 daily and we were just running behind on our trip. We did not get to have a tasting because it was 4:45 by the time we got there and the last tasting was at 4:30 however their landscaping and overall atmosphere was spectacular. We are definitely going to come back here another time but this time we will make sure we get here plenty early.

The views here are worth the visit. The wines are very good, especially the Prairie Fumé! The new distillery is already producing some really good whiskey, especially the Round Top Straight Rye! We also loved the sandwiches, chili, and soup at the Bistro. Everything was very good.

I recently visited Wollersheim Winery & Distillery and was thoroughly impressed. Tucked away in the scenic landscape, the winery exudes rustic charm and tranquility, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Madison.
The picturesque setting of rolling hills and lush vineyards immediately captivated me. The winery's commitment to maintaining a beautiful and natural environment is evident in every aspect of the property. The spirit room was our first stop, and it did not disappoint. While they offer a selection of spirits including brandy, gin, and rye, the standout for me was the bourbon. It offered a complexity and depth of flavor that was truly remarkable, with intricate notes that lingered delightfully on the palate.
After the spirit tasting, we headed to the terraced patio for a leisurely lunch. The patio offers a breathtaking view of the vineyards, creating a serene backdrop for our meal. The winery's commitment to farm-to-table cuisine was evident in every dish. Fresh, local ingredients were the stars, elevating simple dishes to culinary delights. Each bite was a celebration of the region's produce, perfectly complementing the selection of wines we tasted.
The wine tasting itself was an experience to cherish. The knowledgeable staff guided us through a selection of wines, each with its unique character and story.
Wollersheim Winery & Distillery is not just about the spirits and the food; it's about the experience as a whole. The staff are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, eager to share their passion for winemaking and distilling. The grounds are meticulously cared for, inviting guests to stroll and explore.
In addition to the tastings, the winery offers tours, providing an insightful glimpse into the winemaking and distilling process. This added a layer of appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
Wollersheim is certainly worth a stop for anyone in the Madison area seeking a serene and sensory retreat. Whether you're a connoisseur of fine spirits and wines or simply looking for a picturesque spot to unwind, this winery offers an exceptional experience.

Wollersheim winery and distillery is an excellent destinations for an afternoon or an evening. I have never been to the site before until today but greatly enjoyed the beautiful grounds and tasting rooms. We spent a good amount of time in the distillery tasting room, trying several of the bourbon and Brandies as well as a Sazerac cocktail! … the environment and the beverages were all very impressive!
The grounds are very pleasant for picnicking and just walking and enjoying the foliage. Many lovely place to sit.
The staff inside the tasting room was super welcoming and courteous and attentive.
A lot of good comfortable, seating indoors with nice views out the plentiful windows.

What a fantastic learning and wine tasting experience, I recommend the wine tour to understand more the process of wine making. My wife and I spent 2 1/2 hours drinking and eating the delicious cheese and snacks and spirits they had to offer. The staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful. The scenery is as beautiful as you can get.
This museum is so unique and just amazing! The owner Bret made for us almost 4 hours tour (because we needed to leave but there is so much more to see and hear) which was super interesting. Bret is truly passionate about the WWII and all the items and treasures he has in his museum and can tell you so many interesting stories about it which makes this museum so unique! Everybody should visit! Bret, thank you very much for such a great experience during my study abroad in Wisconsin!

I went here with my family a few weeks ago and as someone who loves WWII my initial thoughts upon seeing the place where honestly less than enthusiastic but I cannot stress how absolutely wrong my assumption was. The owner Brett is an unbelievably charismatic yet humble guy who’s collection of WWII artifacts is hands down unparalleled to anything in Wisconsin but to leave it at that is only the half of it. For each artifact that Brett has in his immense collection he has an incredible story and background to it that will undoubtedly capture the interest and imagination of even the least interested person, a few will even likely put you on the verge of tearing up (myself included). As someone who’s visited Smithsonian’s museums several times this place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but the experience that me and my family felt by the time we walked out of this little portage WWII museum was something I have absolutely no doubt any of us will ever forget. As far as I’m concerned this, to me, is was put portage on the map. Brett thank you for your commitment and immense respect to this part of our nations history and to those who were a part of it and also for keeping the stories all of which you retold so wonderfully alive.

Devil's Lake State Park is a vast recreational area that features a 360-acre lake, sandy beaches, campgrounds, and food stands. Visitors can enjoy scenic hikes around the lake on rocky paths or climb up for breathtaking views of the stunning blue-green waters. The park is also pet-friendly but requires dogs to be leashed at all times. In addition to outdoor activities, visitors can challenge their minds with riddle-solving in escape rooms located nearby.
A beautiful hike around the lake. One can hike low and follow the path through the rocks or you can climb up. We climbed up both sides and it was worth it. Fantastic views, gorgeous blue green water. Turkey vultures soaring overhead with a slight breeze. Had a picnic on a rock ledge over looking the lake. Dog friendly but you need to keep them on a leash

I was delighted to find a last minute tent site, actually there were multiple options on the day off to reserve. I got a late recommendation to explore this park while on a road trip and I fell in love. As a local said on the trails “best place in WI” and from what I was able to experience on my travels, I agree! What a gorgeous park. The campground was quiet and well maintained. Bathrooms were clean. Lake water was warm (mid August). I will be recommending this to anyone I know heading to WI. I am grateful to have been able to explore the trails and camp here.

Devil's Lake is the most popular State Park in Wisconsin for good reasons.
Want to circumnavigate a beautiful lake, you've got it. Climbing rocks on the West side, walk a railroad track on the East side, and the North and South side have beaches.
Want to swim? Two beaches, clear water, and motored boats allowed.
Hike on a National Scenic Trail? Part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail passes through the Park. And the Ice Age Trail has no usage fee.
And make sure to set aside time to make use of the rest of the Park's other activities.
A great park in a great state!

Came here early Saturday morning and we found a great spot under a tree that had great shade. We BBQ and then went for a dip in the lake. The water was super clear that you could see small fish. We made the way to the trail to go up and see the balanced rock. We only made it half way because it is a difficult trail to do with smaller children. Next time I’ll make the trek with just my husband and I because the views are amazing!

Great place to recreate! Highly recommend showing up early. The Balanced Rock trail is a fantastic hike for the adventurous. Wear something with good traction, the rock/boulder terrain is slippery at times when its completely dry. Elevation gain is roughly 400-500ft over half mile. Take the time to stop and enjoy the views!

Devils lake is so beautiful! The trails are amazing! Some are easy some are really difficult the trail maps are marked as to which ones more challenging. The ones up the bluff will make you sweat quite a bit but the view is so worth it! Each trail has a something unique and special to be found along it. It’s so exciting! The photos you can take and the time you can spend at this park is extensive! It would take a whole weekend to experience it all. So if you’re going up for a day pick and choose what you most want to do, because time goes by quick when you’re handling this much fun! By the lake there’s kayak rental, canoe rental, paddle boat rental, swimming, a beautiful gift shop, ice cream, snacks, a bath house. Plus you can’t forget about the fact that they have a campground. That’s the best way to go if you’re gonna go all out is to come here and camp for a whole weekend or longer! I can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful park! I would recommend to be there no later that 9:00-10:00am since it gets packed! At least during holidays. It has a north and a south area for parking. I liked more the north area since we were with our dogs, and I found the south more hiking with heights!

It is possible to hike around the lake in a single day. It took us about 4 hours at a leisurely pace. Highly recommend starting from the south park area and taking the Grotto's Trail to the East Bluff Trail, walk across the North Shore Beach and take the Tumbled Rocks Trail and then back to the south park area. It was well worth the trip from the Chicago suburbs! Also, I recommend the Tumbled Rock Brewery and Kitchen afterwards. It's just north of the north park entrance.

Such a fun place to go! The beach is very nice, sandy, not a lot of rocks on the beach or in the water close to the shore. Wisconsin provides a lot of hidden gems that many outsiders wouldn't know of & Devil's Lake State Park is one of them. Devil's Lake is a perfect spot to spend your summer day. You have the options to relax by the water or hike up the mountain that overviews the lake. The trails themselves are well kept & the hike isn't too difficult even for those who are casual hikers. Once you get to the top, there are beautiful panoramic views of the lake in each direction. Devil's Lake is in a remote area so parking & traffic are challenges when visiting so I recommend arriving earlier rather than later. There is a large picnic area to dine which is well kept for the most part. If you're looking for a great way to spend at a park, I highly recommend considering Devil's Lake State Park!

Devil's Lake is a pretty amazing state park to have in the back yard of Madison. That being said I don't think I'd ever want to go there in the middle of peak season or on a weekend. Early April on a Monday was an amazing time to go. The trails were not too crowded and my wife and I easily managed to do a loop around the lake. The views were gorgeous and most of the trails were rather pleasant. That being said the southeast has some vertical rock step trails that are a bit more technical and would make me rather nervous with our small children and potentially our pre-teens (depending on their awareness-levels that day). However, as an adult I really enjoyed it, but am glad my wife and I went when we did, as we got to see everything without having to manage crowded trails. Definitely worth a visit, this gem of a park will not disappoint and offers some great hiking.

A beautiful park, which offers a variety of activities for all ages.
We hiked around the east trail, starting uphills from the east bluffs wood trail. The walk was really pleasant, on a comfortable path. We then passed through the devils hole and balanced rock and went down on the east bluffs trail, which was more challenging, but definitely worth the effort. The views from the mountain peaks were stunning, displaying a wild scenery of the huge rocks, woods and shiny lake. It is highly recommended!

My happy place.... I have been here an average of twice a year every year for over ten years. The lake is beautiful, the hiking is amazing and unique, the campsites are great if you know which to get.
The place is dog friendly but only kind of. There is only one beach that allows dogs and that beach is all rocks so make sure you have some water shoes.
Unfortunately over the years I've noticed more and more people leaving garbage everywhere... what is with this. There are garbage cans and dumpsters... use them! Oh and clean up after your dogs! I like laying on the grass!!

It's a great place to relax and enjoy nature alone or with family, friends & pets. The trails offer breathtaking views. You can bring your kayak, paddleboard, canoe, inflatable boat or other floatation devise and enjoy the crystal clear lake. There are plenty of picnic tables and charcoal grills throughout the picnic area. Get there early to secure a spot and parking because this a popular place and it fills up quickly. It's just a beautiful place.

The scenery of the park is very beautiful. If you go to the park in the morning, it will be better to go up the mountain from the east, because the sun rises from the east, and it will be better to take pictures like this. There are many parking lots in the park, and parking is very convenient, but the downside is that the parking lot is charged, but I didn't see an obvious notice of the fee, and there is no self-service payment machine in the parking lot. When I came down from the mountain, I found a payment slip posted on my car, but the payment cannot be settled immediately, and I need to go to a specific place to pay the fee. This is a very troublesome thing. It is hoped that the managers of the park can improve the charging problem, and it is best to install self-service payment machines in the parking lot.

10 out of 10! Stopped here during a road trip with my son in 2022. Place was absolutely gorgeous! However, my son and I were not prepared for the climb ahead of us and worse...the climb down! Ok, not trying to spook anyone here! It's not a sheer cliff we were climbing. The trails are very easy to follow and clearly marked. However, we wanted to see the Balancing Rock and Devil's Doorway. Well, that trail is all up hill...literally! Not only is it all uphill but incorporates many, many stairs! The good news is, once you make it to the top, the trail levels out into a nice dirt road. Then, you walk that for a ways and you've made it! Oops, not quite! Now, you must descend the mountain down to the Balancing Rock. My knees were shot by this point but I was determined to make it there. We did and the view was incredible! We took our pictures and on to the Devil's Doorway. Another good distance away and unfortunately, we were running out of time on our schedule and had to turn back. Only way back is the way we came or the treacherous decent down the side of the mountain on make shift stairs created out of the rock shelf itself. The rock shelf was the quickest way down. It took about 35 minutes to the bottom, legs almost gave out dozens of times and we hustled the mile long walk back to the car! I'll say this, its a must for visiting but if you aren't an avid hiker or climber, you WILL be exhausted taking on this mountain! Be sure to pack a jug of water cause you will need it! However, there are other trails that go around the lake that are very easy to venture. A beautiful beach to swim or catch some rays. All kinds of picnic areas. Both public or private. A great big pavilion, if you prefer tables and the indoors. Plenty of bathroom access all over the park and plenty of parking. Keep in mind, this is a state park. So prices are higher if you're out of state. I picked up a WI park pass for the year. So we only had to pay to park. Come to Devil's Lake, its definitely worth it!

Easily my top favorite of Wisconsin State Parks. Love the length of trails and the elevation. Beautiful place with great views. We travel almost 3 hours here just for day trips. With stops to take in the view and getting ice cream at the North Shore in the summer, it takes us about 3-4 hours to complete a loop on various trails.

First time visiting with family! Trails and views were amazing, especially now that it's starting to warm up. Parked in the south lot, took the route up to devils doorway and balanced rock, then headed through the east bluff trail and tumbled rocks (got too tired for the west bluffs). Wish they had signs showing which bathrooms are open and more accessible water in the off-season.

Amazing hike! Fall is the perfect time to visit to see the vibrant colors of the turning leafs. We got really lucky with that, considering we visited second half of October.
The climb was a bit steep, but with a few rest breaks I made it up. Took me about 25-30 minutes.
The view was really beautiful, the skies were gray and the lighting for photos was just right.
The lake itself looked too manicured, that is too say, the edges drawn in a smooth line, which took away a bit from experiencing nature, but still a pleasure to look at.
Lots of big rocks at the top, where you could sit and snack, while looking down on the water.
There were many people when we were climbing up at about 11:30 am, and it got even busier when we were making our way back.
Lots of dogs and all seemed very friendly.

There are so many amazing hiking trails! Definitely the place to go for aesthetic camping pictures. The restroom are fairly nice and the beach is great.

Spent the day at Devil's Lake with my boyfriend and our family yesterday, and it was a wonderful trip. We hiked to the top, and the view was absolutely breathtaking!
The park was very clean and well maintained. The restrooms were also clean. We used the picnic area by the south beach to eat and swim. The water was clean and cool but there were a lot of rocks so you have to be careful when getting in the water because it's a bit rough on your feet. Swim shoes recommended.
The Circus World Museum is a complex that showcases the history of circuses, with live performances held under a big-top tent. Visitors can explore original wintering grounds, restored circus wagons and exhibits on the Ringling Brothers and their collaboration with Barnum and Bailey. It's a must-see attraction for those interested in circus history, but plan to spend at least 4-5 hours if you want to catch a live performance.
We decided to stop from our drive from Madison to Montana. I have a found fascination with the circus so this was a treat. However, we did not get to stay for the actually circus, as we spent so much time enamored with the exhibits and got to the museum in the afternoon. It was fascinating to learn about The Ringling Brothers and how they combined with Barnum and Bailey. It has the original buildings of the wintering grounds, collection of restored circus wagons, and a extensive exhibit of circus history.
I would highly recommend stopping, but allow at least 4-5 hours if you want to see the actual circus. It will definitely bring out the kid in you.

A really great experience for the whole family, no matter what the age. The venue is laid out perfectly and has a nice flowing waterway with a bridge walkway connecting the museum to the big tents, etc... The big tents have shows, there is also pony rides, an very cool elephant ride. There are multiple area with food. The restored vintage circus car museum is amazing and you can even watch restoration of vintage circus items and cars. This was a great experience!

This place was way cooler than I was expecting, especially for adults! We spent about 4 hours exploring here. The history is really neat, and there are lots of memorabilia pieces you can touch and read about. The circus show was about an hour, and all of the performers were incredible. August is the last month to see the elephants, and we were told it was more crowded than normal because of that. We still had no problems getting into the show despite it being busier than normal. Appreciated that the circus was included in the admission cost. Highly recommend checking this out!

A must see! This place has an active circus act. I was amazed at the elephants and the performers. This was a show for all ages. My daughter of 4 was amazed at the girl hanging in the air. She practiced this after leaving for many weeks. The museum and attractions are all very interesting if you love the history of the circus or want to learn about it. I was impressed but was unable to give the time to the rest of the park. I will come again and spend most of a day here.

Truly an amazing place to spend an entire day with the family or just adults. Historic & educational but also fun & entertaining for under $20. Included: 2 live big top shows daily, plus outside trapeze & aerial motorcycle thrill show. My favorite: a hanger size bldg with hundreds of restored highly decorated & carved Circus wagons & a restoration workshop showing works in progress. Also restored Circus buildings. Circus paraphernalia, such as posters, elaborate costumes, equipment, & models. There is a 1/4 scale detailed miniature model of a complete rail circus set-up that is huge. Indoor theater shows circus documentaries. Everything is labeled & explained; could not possibly read everything. Food, drink, & treats are available on the grounds. Carousel, elephant, & pony rides; obligatory gift shop as well.
It is operated by the State Historical Society & is also a respected research resource.
Highly recommend visiting this place.

What a day!! What a wonderful, delightful day we had at Circus World! We had no idea what we were in store for and we were just enthralled more and more around every corner!
You enter through the museum and get a vast amount of history of the circus, not just Ringling Brothers. We learned so much about the evolution and history of the circus with all the displays. A lot of work has gone into the presentations in the museum, they are very thorough and rich. Once you go through the doors to the outside you are transported back in time to the circus of your childhood memories! From the elephants to the circus in the big top, the side show tent to the carousel, it was just one fun and childlike moment after another!
Our favorite part of Circus World was the carriage museum, it was jaw dropping!! We walked in the door to massive, ornate and beautifully restored carriages that once graced towns with their music, carvings, animals and performers. Imagining them parading through town brought smiles to our faces and music to our soul!
Circus World is magical and I highly recommend everyone add it to their bucket list!

Awesome experience! I loved the circus 🎪 that we saw and learning all the facts! We weren't allowed to video/photo the actual show but that's okay. They also had elephant, pony and train rides. My favorite acts in the show were the mother&son duo jugglers and the aerobatic show but the entire show was amazing 🙂 tickets were alittle pricey but I would definitely still go again.

It was well worth it. There was a lot of history and information. There was a great performance and park for the kids to play. The show was great the only thing that was extra was riding the elephants which both my girls did. All in All, an excellent end to our week long vacation.

Circus World is an excellent summer experience for a family. Entertainment, along with learning the history of the circus era in Wisconsin. The Big Top was fun, fast moving. We loved the fun and funny goat acts. Of course, the elephants were the stars. This is the last season with them in Baraboo. The Big Top will go up in the summer of 2024 with a full hour of family entertainment. During the off-season, the buildings are open for self touring. We loved our day at Circus World.

This place is super cool! Experience a real life circus under a real big top tent. That's not something you can really find these days. I love that the cost of the show was included with your ticket. Learn about the history of the circus and then get to see it come to life. Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area!

Still one of the best historical sites in Wisconsin. Even better than usual on this day because of the car show (collectors showing their cars got in free - I rode there with my brother in his red Mustang). The workmanship in the circus wagons alone is worth the trip.

So much fun for the whole family, my senior mother, myself, and my seven and three year all loved it. The big top show was entertaining, and the perfect length, the elephants are a treasure, such a joy. The kids even enjoyed the historical/museum buildings. So much to look at!

The circus was pretty cool, we loved the elephants. We were disappointed that we didn't have enough time to also go through the buildings and learn about the history of the circus. I wish the person who had sold us the tickets would have let us know that the whole place would be closing shortly after the show. If we had known, we would have come back tomorrow instead so that we could experience the whole thing. Communication in general was lacking.

Children under three are free, adults are 23$ and I believe there is senior discount. Parking is free on the side street, and two lots across the circus. But you gotta get there early. Bathroom are clean. No food allowed , but bottled water is fine. Only good thing in there are the circus carts and old marketing posters. Everything else is just sad. And boring. Especially exploited animals.
Anytime I’m in Baraboo, WI, I feel a nostalgic sense of warmth and relaxation one seeks when on vacation or simply taking a stroll down this lovely town.
I was especially happy this year, in attending the yearly circus parade, as I was informed the elephants Isa and Viola will finally be retiring this August, to a sanctuary in Oklahoma.
I waved a farewell to the elephants as they walked by in the parade.
Delighted, I visited the circus. Immediately noticed the “ ride the elephants and pony’s” sing
15$ cash. Made me so sad. I saw the line of heavy people all waiting their turn to ride these two elephants just going around in a circle all day long.
I asked an employee for the well being of these animals. She quickly laughed and stated, “they can hold tons of weight and are better taken care of, then she or me.”
Her argument was - since they can hold that weight it’s fine for them to carry people for hours, on a daily basis until they retire this August. How can this not break your heart?
The circus felt cheap. Sad. Outdated. Their only form of income coming from the exploitation of the animals.
Wildlife center featuring all 15 species of cranes, plus nature trails, guided tours & a gift shop.
Only place to see all 15 species of cranes found around the world. Beautiful setting, staff so knowledgeable and always willing to answer a visitor's questions. Volunteer naturalist, also available to answer questions. All in Wisconsin, a few miles north of Baraboo.

Amazing and tranquil place. The staff is dedicated to their mission and willing to share that with visitors. Level and wide walking paths around the exhibits is ideal for strollers and wheelchairs. There are trails for the more adventurous. Great learning opportunity about cranes.

Beautiful place! Home to a pair of every crane species on earth. The birds have gorgeous, large enclosures and the walking path is beautiful. There are many areas to stop and sit, watch the birds or wildlife, or enjoy the wildflowers. A great bonus is the nice picnic areas and the beautiful hiking trails. Be sure to stop and read about the incredible conservation work that they do as well!

So I went into this place on a whim and thought it was interesting that the international Crane foundation was in baraboo Wisconsin. Anyways long story short my expected a 30-minute trip turn into a 3-hour tour some self-guided and some guided parts. Overall is a wonderful place with very cool history and great conservation goals, showing what you can to with a little bit of money and a lot of enthusiasm.

I went here for the first time in several years and had a wonderful time. My friends and I went on a very informative but not overly long tour, then walked around the rest of the enclosures and hit one or two of the hiking trails. If you like nature, you'll like visiting here! The work the foundation is doing is absolutely fantastic and these are such incredible birds to see and hear (they have very cool calls) in person and up close.

We are VERY pleased with our experience at The International Crane Foundation. From outside it appears small and a tad unkept. But, once you pass through the beautiful black wrought iron gates, you'll see the visitor center is nicely updated with one of the nicest gift shops around (reasonably priced yet items appeared upscale. Not the tachy souvenirs you typically find in gift shops). There is a short 12 minute movie introducing you to the history of The Crane Foundation and each type of Crane, that is included in the admission fee. The staff is super friendly and we were extremely impressed with the knowledge of our tour guide Andrea. The landscaping is natural and beautiful (see pics). We were able to view all but 1 species of Crane the day we visited (it was 85 degrees and sunny, so they must have been inside enjoying the shade... who could blame them, lol).
There were plenty of benches/seating, so you can watch the cranes and enjoy the outdoors at your own pace.
We would definitely like to go back one day.

Great place to tour. We did the self tour and also walked all the nature trails. Very well kept. Beautiful and clean for all the bird friends that are here. Staff was super friendly and I love how they greet you and get you started on your tour. Thus would be great for large groups or just couples (like us) we spent well over 3 hours here. I would recommend to anyone who likes animals and nature.

My family spent the day here as a birthday gift for me. What a great place to enjoy the outdoors and nature with them. We did the North American Cranes Tour. Our tour guide Al did a wonderful job educating the group about the Sandhill and Whooping Cranes. Then we did a self guided tour to see the 15 different species of Cranes from around the world. What this foundation does for the cranes is awesome. They research and study the cranes and their habitats to help them coexist with humans. They also help by trying to repopulate the birds in their own habitats and in the facility to be released back into the wild. We all had an enjoyable day. If you are visiting the area you should stop in and see these beautiful birds and visit with the staff that makes this place so special.

This is very peaceful place. I wanna know Friday and they weren’t very many visitors there so it was very relaxing. I got to take my time and see the birds. It was a volunteer walking around answer questions and such. I got to see 13 of the 15 crane species, two of the birds didn’t want to come over a little house. This is the only place in the world that has all 15 species there are some nature trails, which are not particularly interesting at least not in the middle of summer. There’s a large breeding facility in the back that you can see from the nature trails. There’s a short movie showing every 30 minutes. The place was recently renovated, all the walkways are new, the visitor center is beautiful, clean bathrooms. Drinking fountains available. There are some snacks and drinks in the gift shop. Exit through the gift shop.

What a beautiful place to celebrate such a beautiful bird. Many of their exhibits are very natural crane habitats with such beautiful murals lining some of the walls. Their Work with conservation of cranes is amazing especially with Whopping Cranes and Sandhill Cranes. Their gift shop is potentially the best gift shop ever and I wanted to buy every item. It’s a quick visit only taking about an hour but there are also beautiful nature trails. Definitely would recommend to any Animal enjoyer and is a must do if passing through on I-90!
Kalahari Resort-Wisconsin Dells boasts African-inspired accommodations and a plethora of entertainment options, including a water park, theme park, bowling alley, and cinema. The rooms and suites are spacious with well-equipped kitchens for meal preparation. The beds are comfortable and the tubs feature jets for a relaxing bath experience. Overall, guests have had an amazing stay at this resort, with the water park being a particular highlight.
Stayed for a conference, that space was incredible, and was able to play a bit in the evenings. I couldn’t believe how much stuff was in this one resort! I was impressed my how much stuff they had for my little guy too, I thought it would be more for big kids but he’s 2 and had so much to do! Probably the best resort in the Dells

The resort in general has a ton to do. They have an arcade attached so if you don’t want to go outside you don’t need to. Same with restaurants and the water park. My kids really enjoyed themselves.
The rooms are a little old at this point and can use an update. The beds are stiff and I typically wouldn’t complain but for what we spent on those rooms they should have been nicer. There is a window into the hallway and the shades don’t block out all the light. The doors are pretty good but you can still most of what’s going on in the hallway. Water pressure is good and towels are what I would expect.
Lots of TV channels if that sort of thing matters to you. Mini fridge and microwave in the room.
Overall we will likely be back.

A great experience, how fun to have an indoor water park! I am generally not into any kind of adventure parks or water parks(except for the hot tub, I loved it!!) but the boys had so much fun!! Loved the fact that we could stay right where the park was. Food was good, rooms were okay too. Would definitely return some time.

The awesome:
This was super easy to get to. The kiosk check-in was simple. It said it would print a receipt but never did. I texted them and about 10 minutes later we got our room number. The wristbands with the RFID chip print out right at the kiosk. You can assign charge privileges to each wristband.
We got checked into our room. It was really nice! Large, comfortable bed, patio, good shower, and the AC keeps up! Overall, very nice rooms.
Tom Foolery's is a little expensive but a lot of fun. We did the go-karts and a ton of games.
The OK:
The pool area, some Russian lady was kind of rude when we asked for towels. How many? 3. She gave us a dirty look and said '3???' And there were three of us!! Otherwise, albeit crowded, a good time.
The brew pub when we first got there, our server was awesome! We had shakes that were the size of Alaska and our appetizers were so good! But then a table of 10 came in and the whole place got busy. My baked potato came out warm. I sent it back and the second one was the same way. I didn't complain about the second one, but when I can pick up a cast iron container with my bare hands, it's probably not hot enough! We waited a while for our check to arrive. Overall our server was good and got a good tip because they were a little understaffed and that's not her fault.
Overall, the resort was clean, well-maintained, and friendly and accommodating staff. We had a great time and would come back to visit again.

My family and I visited Kalahari from August 13-14 this Summer.
We booked two, two bedroom suites and arrived around noon. Since we were traveling with 3 young children, we decided to take advantage of the indoor water park and were told our rooms would be ready by 4 PM.
One room was ready closer to 5 but by 6:30 PM, there was still no update on the other room. The kids were getting restless, so we approached the front desk and asked for assistance.
Camille and Evan were able to assist us and apologized for the delay. They quickly sorted out the confusion.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and only wish it was longer. Suites were in great condition - spacious and clean. Service - even while they were busy - was great. 5 stars earned on this trip. The kids and adults in our party had a blast and we look forward to visiting Kalahari again the next time we are in Wisconsin Dells.

My family and I visited Dec 26,2023 for my daughter’s 13th birthday celebration. It’s safe to say we won’t be returning. The experience was terrible from the moment we checked in until the hours leading up to departure. 3/4 staff members were very rude and unprofessional. The initial room that we booked was not ready. The floors were soaked and wet when we got to the room and members of maintenance had to continuously come in and out of the room with machines to suck the water out and then fans to dry the rug. This made us very uncomfortable and loose valuable time at the water park. After complaining and speaking to 4 different employees we were finally moved to a different room however, whoever switched the access wristbands bands did it incorrectly so on the second day when attempting to enjoy the amusement park attractions that I paid for additionally we could not. We more play time trying to rectify that situation. The last employee was personable and did a great job showing empathy and overseeing our stay and even compensation us in different areas.
The water park itself was big, and crowded but the lifeguard presence was sufficient. There also was a shortage of tubes so more than half of guests couldn’t be accommodated in the lazy river. The amusement park was nice and had plenty of things to do (my kids are 6-14).
Overall this is not a place for us

We took our daughter here for spring break and we had a blast as a family. The room was perfect with 2 queen sized beds, bathroom and a patio. The indoor water park was great especially because it was snowing lol. Although, I recommend going on at least one weekday as the weekends are extremely packed. Other than that, it was a blast! The indoor theme park was a welcomed change of pace from the water park. We had so much fun and there are many games/rides to do as a family and there are a lot of options for food in the resort or just outside of the resort. We had a great spring break!! We have been here two times now during sub zero winter temps. Six years ago and recently in 2022 a week before Christmas. Our now adult children enjoyed the indoor water park. We stayed for three nights which seems about the perfect stay during the winter. It’s so warm inside and the staff does a great job at maintaining and keeping the entire resort and rooms clean. Our first night sleep was not good. Our room was on the second floor and our neighbors directly above us had unruly and noisy kids running and jumping around till 2 am. We called front desk at 10 pm about the noise and they sent security but to no avail. So the next day we requested a different room and they accommodated us immediately to a nicer and quiet room. It made our stay so nice. My adult children enjoyed all of the extreme water slides and we all enjoyed the Master Blaster. Our all time favorite is the lazy rivers and the outdoor hot tubs. Something for all ages and interests. Great family fun!!

Great experience for the family.
Breakfast buffet is the best I have ever seen. Semi-expensive, but worth it.
Their two water parks are tons of fun. Rooms and building were super clean.
Traveled four hours and to get here and we are planning on going again this year.
(Tom Foolery wasn't the best value for two younger kids. The entertainment for kids under 5-6 was really limited. Sure a 10+ year old would have a blast. If you have young kids, check the photos before you pay for this online. Would have rather spent the money in another location in the Dells.)
Edit: Checkout times are pretty long, too. Arrive early and be prepared to wait. With over 1,000 rooms/suites, there are a ton of people coming and going during business hours.

Absolutely our number one spot to stay when visiting the Wisconsin Dells! We absolutely love the Kalahari and all the amenities they offer! For the most part everything is kept up well and clean, just a few small items such as a door handle to the bathroom was fairly loose, and one of our doors stuck in our room, but other than that everything was great! The onsite restaurants are delicious, the arcade and indoor amusement park have tons of stuff to do for people of all ages, and the water park is a blast! I wish they would bring back the kids craft activities such as cookie decorating and coloring contests, but overall we still absolutely love this place!

Location was easy to find. We went here for the day and the feel was very high end. We loved the indoor water park. There were so many options of slides, water roller coaster, body board wave option and nice lazy river. We didn’t spend the night here but it might be on our list next time. Food wasn’t bad but as with any resort a little on the pricey side.

I stay here every year in November for the Colossal Convention. The service was excellent. I specifically want to recognize the customer service rep, Gabi, as she went above and beyond to help us with checking in to our room reservation. She was very kind, understanding, and knowledgeable.
Our stay was great. The rooms were cleanly. Ample parking spaces. The indoor restaurants and water park are very nice too.
My only concerns are the walls are somewhat thin so noise travels easily. But that’s to be expected with the convention crowd. Also, it’s also easy to get lost because the resort is so large but I still enjoyed my stay overall

This was our first time visiting and we will definitely be back! We had the best time. This resort is set up so you don’t have to leave if you don’t want to, but it’s close to everything if you want to venture out. We loved it so much that we came home and recommended it to friends who went the following weekend and also loved it!
The rooms were bigger than expected and extremely comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked that there were lockers to put everything at the water park and the bracelet for money so we didn’t have to carry much. Our kids liked the water park and Tom Foolery’s.

My list is so long of everything that went wrong with our visit to the Kalahari that I don’t even know where to start. There is no follow-through with the staff just lots of excuses. The restaurant on the main floor next to the coffee shop was absolutely the worst breakfast. My family and I ever had. The eggs were cold. The steak was chewy, and our napkins were delivered to us, covered in a half an inch of dust.
The overpriced out of date were just as bad. King size mattresses, being put on queen size bed frames to again dust and dirt everywhere. Make sure you check your sheets and your mattresses before you spend the night here. We forgot to do that to the end, and I have to tell you I feel like I still can’t wash the grossness off my body from sleeping there.
Would’ve been a great trip had it not been ruined by lack of service and lack of care for running a good hotel.

We have been to the resort multiple times over the years. Service this spring break was unacceptable...
1. Room wasn't cleaned until 3-4pm when we got back from the water park, so we had to search for the cleaning crew to get new/fresh towels. We went to the adventure park after and dinner, didn't get back to the room until 10pm and room looked same as we left it in the morning.
2. We enjoyed the new restaurants they opened up but service was horrible EVERYWHERE, it's like no one cares since the resort is booked, many people drop in with daily passes.... and they know they have a flow of people anyway, so why bother keeping up any sort of standard?
Those were the main top 2 annoying things.
3. Water park opens up way before the 10 am time they have on their website, we stayed there 4 days and the very first day we walked in at 9:59am and all tables/chairs were already taken up. So we learned our lesson and started going in between 9:30-10:00 even though when I spoke with the resort they claim they open at 10am. This might be true for people dropping in for the day l, but if you are staying at the resort they open their water park doors earlier. Anyway by day 2 we started going earlier and managed to get a table+chairs to sit at and keep our belongings there.
Overall we had fun, kids had a blast, if management fixes the things listed above it will definitely make people's experiences much enjoyed. Those type of things tend to be frustrating and not so much 'enjoyable'.

My wife, daughter and I spent the weekend here for my wife's birthday. For almost $800 for a weekend I was expecting the rooms to be a little cleaner and more up to date. The hair dryer had frayed wires, carpet was coming up by the wall next to the bed, food stains on the wall next to the table and by the sink, couch was pretty beat up, small stains on the sheets on one bed, refrigerator wouldn't open all the way because it was on a slant on the floor, TV would flicker every couple minutes, tile in the bathroom was cracked near the tub. The first night we stayed we took our 5 month old daughter down to play in the tot spot. We sat her down in the water and a bunch of drunk adults were running around splashing and going down the slides meant for toddlers. In the process of trying to find a spot in the toddler area where my daughter could play she got splashed in the face. We brought up our concern to the lifeguards in that area but they didn't seem to really care, and that pretty much spoiled that night as we returned to our room. The next day was the same situation, we couldn't manage to find a safe spot for our daughter to play, not even in the toddler area because of drunk adults or teenagers taking over the area. In a whole weekend we took our daughter swimming 2 times for about a grand total of an hour because we just couldn't do it safely. The rest of our trip was pretty much spent in our room or off the resort. It wasn't worth the time or the money, and we were more stressed then when we came. We were really looking forward to a fun trip with our little girl but left disappointed, next time we are going to try a different resort.

Very well staffed. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Brock was our server in the Double Cut restaurant. He made our dinner very enjoyable with suggestions on the menu. We did not use the water park as we were here for a brief business conference. Would like to return with the rest of our family enjoy all the amenities. What is great is you have so much to enjoy without ever leaving the resort property.

The back corner of the water park is great for little kids and the water is warmer for the babies. There are some noticeable areas of the water park that do need updating and the volume inside is a bit much for really little kids. The room was surprisingly nice although I definitely wouldn't stay here if I had to pay full price.

Lots of stuff to keep the kiddos busy. Food options here are better than Wilderness but rooms are definitely more cramped, room outdoor balcony is very tight.
Rides weren't too backed up most of the time. Some ride lines got backed up to an hour plus because of other unexpected shutdowns I believe and outside temps were lower.
Staff everywhere was great and accommodating. Overall it was a good stay.

This past weekend my family, and I decided to take a random trip, and we ended up at the Kalahari. My main concern was hoping that the room would be up to part, but it definitely was nice, and spacious. The shower was great I was expecting low water pressure, but I actually loved the shower, and the size of the tub🤷🏽♀️ very spacious. We stayed in the Sands Condos. Now to the water park, what I like most about this place is a space may seem small, but once you enter it it's not. The outside Waterpark was really nice, also the inside I really enjoyed the swim up bar. I love the fact that it was also a jacuzzi so you could drink, and chill. The food was just okay, I mean when you from Chicago it's very hard to please us with food, but it was something to eat, and convenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and we were very happy that we decided to stay there. I would definitely visit again.

Hi there,
I’m Jennie! I love the Kalahari, but it’s a little too expensive. Especially for an over night. I was there for a conference recently. Love the rooms too, but they fill up pretty fast. So me & mom had to walk up to the fourth floor and it was quite far from the convention center. We were both confused and we had to walk to almost every building inside the resort. It was quite a walk, gotta admit that. Other than that, I love this place. Love the fancy restaurants, the water park, the arcade, the activities and food of course. Last but not least, the front desk lady was helpful. She was so kind to me. Thanks for this experience. Thanks for staying opened. Bye Kalahari!😀👋🏼🐘

We love this hotel! It is massive, so be ready to get your steps in. Tons to do even in winter. Kids love the waterpark. Lots of maintenance going on, but that just shows they care about cleanliness and appearance. It's expensive as far as restaurants and arcade, but not surprising given all the amenities. Will be back

Truthfully, as much as you pay for a night the least this "resort" can offer is complimentary breakfast. Everything and I mean everything is utterly and completely overpriced. 52 dollars for a 14in pizza and a side of fries is ridiculous. That's not even including the tip. A 5 dollar water bottle is crazy to me. The beds were incredibly hard and the pillows were unbelievably uncomfortable. And I'm not sure if the rooms are cleaned thoroughly. There was a contact lens on the floor of the bathroom and Bobby pins in the bedside table. Other than the decent service, there's nothing good I can say about this place. It's a shame. The Kalahari seemed like a high end hotel, worth the money. But I'd rather have stayed at a Motel 6.

We had a nice time here but they can do better at this price point. Check in at the kiosk was easy however we found the wayfinding signage to be poor with nobody readily available at the kiosks to assist. I had to pull up a map on my phone to locate our room. The RFID wristbands are pretty neat. The room was spacious and clean albeit a bit dated. We hated the daylight bulbs in all the light fixtures. The kids loved the indoor water park and it was generally well kept with all attractions in working order. The bathrooms could've been cleaner and the locker rooms really need an upgrade...the 25 yr old middle school type locker rooms are not appropriate here. Time to upgrade to private shower/changing boothes. Both drinking fountains/bottle fillers were broken and drains were backed up. We drove into town for all our meals. All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional.

We had the best time over Easter Break here! Service was excellent and staff very helpful and polite. The indoor waterpark had all sorts of different slides to enjoy and catered to all age groups. We stayed in an apartment style room with kitchenette and enjoyed that a lot. Spacious rooms but pull out sofa was a bit uncomfortable for the kids. The Steak House and Mexican restaurant at the premises were outstanding quality and superb service! Definitely would come back here again!

Our rooms were meant to be double queens with a pull out couch. It worked for my family, but my friends really needed that pull out couch. They were then told they would have to pay $25 if they wanted a cot. Everything was terribly expensive but that’s expected everywhere.
My biggest complaint is that they didn’t let me take 2 steps past where I was to help my young children off of a tube from a slide. Brett was the “ride attendant” when I told a manager about this I was entirely dismissed, and told the ride attendants will help children off. I’m sorry, this does not happen. They also disregard all other “rules” weight limits on slides? No such thing, not actually, at the Kalahari.
You can go to many other parks at the Dells for much, much less and you get more bang for your buck. I would not chose the Kalahari again.
*edited to add* another absurd thing at the Kalahari, you have to “check out towels” and if they’re not returned by close of day, you’re charged $25 per towel. Insanity.

We was at the water park area today and literally had to help a older gentlemen from drowning in the wave pool while the young girl life guard just sat there and did absolute nothing to help. The man had to be about 70 and was trying to walk into the wave pool and a wave hit him and he lost his balance and hit the slide that goes into the wave pool. He kept getting pushed under water by the waves. I yelled for the lifeguard and she literally ignored it. I tried to help him up and as i was trying he lost his balance again and he fell and knocked me over into the slide. The whole time the life guard just stood there. If it wasn't for my quick response that poor man could have drown today. They need to train the lifeguards a lot better on how to do their job. I also brought it to the managers attention and he didn't really seem to care and blew it off. Another thing that sucks is it is really hard to enjoy the wave pool because they allow tubes in there. I cant tell you how many times we got kicked or tubes hitting us. They should honestly not have the tubes allowed in the wave pool, It would be a lot more fun. We did enjoy ourselves besides those two things

Double Cut is the restaurant attached to Kalahari. Highly recommend giving this a try. Fine dining with a large variety of wines and specialty cocktails. The staff were impressive, very polite and helpful. Every meal was delicious! I will definitely go back!

One of the toilets in our room was not cleaned prior to arrival; there was blood on the toilet seat, the side of the toilet, and dripping down the toilet. I'm not sure how this could have been overlooked. Absolutely sickening. Also, the carpet in our room was vacuumed sloppily, at best. Finally, the mattresses were terrible- soft and clearly past their useful life.
To top it all off, the employee (Enrique) manning the Rippling Rhino slide in the water park (on Thursday, 4/4, around 5 pm) created a hazardous situation two times that I was aware of. I went on the slide once with my kids and as we were getting on the raft for the slide, Enrique jerked the conveyor belt. I thought it was an accident. My kids went back on the slide without me and my daughter said he did the same thing again as she was still standing and getting in to the raft, and this time she almost fell. I reported the incident to security and Enrique was moved to a different slide. Nonetheless we could have been hurt. What type of people are employed here? People who knowingly create hazardous situations for families? Really quite pathetic. What a potential liability for the hotel!
Based on these two events I am not at all impressed with our experience this time.

Pretty cute place, I went here once when I was little and then I went here with my boyfriend for a cute weekend getaway. I think it's one of the best hotels in the area. I like the amount of different slides and variety here. The area is pretty cute, and plus there's also an indoor theme park area, you can pay extra for, but the waterpark was enough for us, especially for a weekend!
