I love the history and all the historic buildings in downtown Granbury! It's so beautiful. A great place to walk around and shop! Such a great place to walk around, enjoying a car show!

This is such an amazing small historic town. Wished I could have explored more. The town has done such a wonderful job on restoring the town and it is a bustling area. A must see if you're traveling close by.

A quaint beautiful downtown square. A nice collection of shops and restaurants surrounding a square containing the local country courthouse. Trendy bars, restaurants and theaters. Plenty to do for a weekend.

We've been here a few times. There are fewer historic town squares in Texas that are as filled with life and activity as the one in Granbury. Wonderful restaurants and interesting things to see and do. We were most recently here for their "Living Christmas Card" event.
D Largent — Google review
We went here during Oktoberfest. Granbury has a quaint and beautiful downtown with a lot of boutique stores and restaurants. The courthouse is gorgeous and one of the best we have seen in Texas.
There is a music theater that was closed when we visited but will definitely come back as it seemed majestic.
You can easily find a parking spot no matter how busy it is here as the square is huge and there are parking around the courthouse and across the streets.

Visiting for the annual Wine Walk event and this town never disappoints! Such great shops, wineries and a wonderful theater! With so much to do, see and taste there’s no reason to even leave the downtown square! Already looking forward to next years event!

Lots of boutiques, at least one bakery, a few restaurants including Babe's , some unique stores, historic courthouse, places to drink wine, galleries, jewelry, and a theater. Also lots of cobblestone, so wear comfy shoes. A cute place that sells quilts and placemats, too.

I love the Historic Granbury Square! It's a fun place to visit. There are several really unique boutique shops and restaurants located around the county courthouse. The old historic buildings are so beautiful! I always like coming here!

Picturesque place!
Quaint Texan town with a lot of historic value, a beautiful city beach park, cute lil artisan cafes and an eclectic mix of rural + suburban landscapes.
Must visit for the wonderful scenery.

Since it was Easter Sunday everything was closed except 2 Art Gallerirs and 2 places to eat. My wife and I liked Granbury a lot. The people there were very friendly. We plan to go there soon. They told us it's better to go there from Wednesday thru Saturday.
The Granbury Opera House is a renovated historical venue that hosts live musicals, comedies and educational programs. The seating is intimate with great sound quality and no bad seats in the house. However, outside food is not allowed but water bottles are permitted for drinking. The staff is courteous and the facilities including restrooms are well-maintained. There are ushers at every entrance to guide visitors. Tickets sell out fast because of rotating seasonal shows, so it's advisable to purchase them early.
Not a bad seat in the house and the sound quality was top notch. This was my first time here and I will definitely be returning! No outside food allowed and only water bottles for drinking. Small intimate seating and ushers at every entrance. The shows rotate with the seasons so buy your tickets early, as they do sell out fast. Also, parking is a bit to navigate so allow extra time as not to rush or be late.
VALERIE O — Google review
I had been such a fan of the Opera House and have visited many times.... until today. I purchased several tickets that were cancelled due to COVID and was told I could get a refund or use the tickets later... I used 4 of my 6 tickets. I called last Saturday to use my remaining 2 tickets, that I have already paid for, after looking online to see that there were several OPEN AVAILABLE SEATS but was told that my tickets had expired, guess I should have gotten the refund instead of saving them. What dumbfounds me is that the Granbury Opera House would rather have open seats opposed to seating continuous paying patrons. As I was explaining this to the two individuals over the phone, I stated that I would not continue to be a paying patron after being refused my tickets (of which I PAID for!), I was literally told "we will be better off without you".... I had been very nice to these individuals up to this point however, my following words were not so nice after that comment. I am honestly shocked! They requested that I be sure to add that they sent out emails informing patrons that the tickets would expire. I do not read every email that goes to my junk mailbox, who does? Despite the emails, again, there were open seats within just two hours of the show AND they didn't mind keeping my money that I had already paid. Bad business ethics on your part Granbury Opera House!
Toni Delk — Google review
Went to see Reza the illusionist and it was a very good show and very entertaining. There was a slight problem with his computer effects system but that did not detract from his show. It was a very good show. The Opera house was very nice and their staff was accommodating and instructional. The seats were very comfortable and there is spots for the wheelchair accommodation. This is the first time I have been there for an event and it was a great experience.

Packed house for the Fleetwood Mac Tribute band. The staff here is super courteous. Facilities including restrooms were immaculate. The crowd was enthusiastic and happy to be at a live concert. Great acoustics in the Opera House. Super fun day in Granbury.

Wow, loved this place! The quality of the production was high- even in a limited space. Actor portrayals were professional and on-point. Many different types and styles of Plays, Shows and Concerts are offered here, take a look at their schedule and you're bound to see something you like. We did, and we're going back in a few weeks.
King Hoover — Google review
Amazing play, great costumes, beautiful music, very talented actors(actresses). Loved the music!! Great snack stand too.
Susan Henry — Google review
Beautiful venue. Although the chairs are not plus sized friendly. The top, which we were located, was a nice view but if you can get bottom floor seating I definitely recommend you do so as when the actors come out to the audience they only walk around on the floor seats. The building itself had such beautiful workmanship! The chandeliers were magnificent! They also have a elevator as well as a very small concession stand that will be selling wine and beer soon from what the announcer said before our show played. For two small bags of popcorn and some Oreos it's was $9.
The performance we went to see was Matilda and what a wonderful cast it was! Wish I would've been able to take a couple of photos with the cast with my little one but we decided to go next door to the little candy shop and try the Matilda chocolate shake, which was only like $6 and absolutely worth it!
All in all of you get the chance to come and watch a play put on by these amazing actors I for one think you should definitely by those floor seat tickets and enjoy the show!

Dinosaur Valley State Park
State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Fossilized footprints along a river, plus 2 life-sized dinosaur models on 1,587 scenic acres.
Great park! The state website has track mapes you can use to find the footprints. Don't be afraid to wade into the water to get a better look. The park is well managed and clean. Even though it was spring break most of the traffic was near the river. We only passed a few people when we were out on the loop trails. Some of the trail sections are dirt but most of it is pretty rocky. Wear good shoes if you want to hike away from the river. We will be back :)
Shari G — Google review
We recently took our first hike of the year at this park. This park was beautiful!! Lots of trails, with scenic views. Most trails are super easy to navigate. You can experience the river, plains, prairie, and forested areas on the same group of trails. We did the overlook trail and it took us to the top where you can see all of the plains, it is breathtaking. I would definitely recommend you make reservations in advance. There are many other trails a swim hole and a store when you first come int to the park, you can also camp and stay overnight. I 100% recommend you check it out. Bring water shoes, lots of water and snacks.
Alexa Carroll — Google review
I wanted to check out this place because it's so well known in DFW. I can see the appeal of why it is popular. However, I came on the wrong day. There was a race going on in the park, so I could hear a lot of cheering on the trails I took. And there were a lot of families with kids running around. I love that there are families enjoying nature. My family introduced me to state parks as a kid too, which is part of the reason why I love hiking now. However, I got no solitude at all from my time here. I couldn't walk more than a few hundred feet without coming across another human being. The popularity of the park took away from my experience. It may be more calm at a different time. I get that. So it likely was just poor timing on my part. But I think I'll avoid really popular parks moving forward.

Love the small, wooded campsite, the wildflowers, swimming in the river! Definitely a great place to visit and relax with kids, even if the dino tracks aren’t visible when you’re there. We stayed in site 22, and it was bordered on both sides by brush, shady and private. Good neighboring sites would be both 16 and 23. Both are also shady, but 23 is not bordered on both sides by brush/trees. There is a paved walkway to the shower house between sites 25 and 26.
Katelyn Anderson — Google review
Lots of trails, with scenic views. Most trails are relatively easy to navigate. Everything is well maintained. You can experience the river, plains/prairie, and forested areas on the same group of trails.
Would definitely recommend reservations in advance, though, to guarantee you can actually get in when you go.

We enjoyed our visit to Dinosaur Valley State Park. When we went there, the park was celebrating its 50th Anniversary on the Columbus day weekend. So there was a long line of cars but the staff handled the traffic very efficiently and we were easily able to find our designated parking spot.
We were handed a map which had all the tracks and trails marked so it was up to us to decide which trail we wanted to hike.
The tracks were spectacular to look at. Especially the rock formations and the limestone boulders were very picturesque. We did the scenic overlook trail which had nice views of the entire state park from the top. The hike was steep and slippery on some parts but mostly easy. So we recommend wearing waterproof hiking boots to enjoy both climbing as well as finding tracks in the water.
We also recommend to carry water bottles and some snacks as the park is big and you will lose track of time.
Abundant parking is available throughout the park. We will definitely be coming back.
Ankita Banerjee — Google review
This was a very nice state park. Great hiking trails and nice swimming area. First time there and the trails are definitely long with lots of up hills and down hills and rocky hills so definitely be careful and also to bring lots of water while hiking. The staff there a very friendly and helpful.

Dinosaur Valley State Park is an awe-inspiring destination that takes visitors on a journey back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Nestled along the scenic Paluxy River in Glen Rose, Texas, this park is a haven for dinosaur enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The highlight of the park is undoubtedly the well-preserved dinosaur tracks found along the riverbed, allowing visitors to walk in the footsteps of these ancient creatures. The immersive experience of seeing these tracks up close is truly remarkable and offers a unique perspective on the prehistoric world. Additionally, the park offers a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and swimming, making it an ideal destination for adventure and relaxation amidst stunning natural surroundings.
The beauty of Dinosaur Valley State Park extends beyond its dinosaur tracks. With its sprawling landscapes, lush forests, and picturesque river views, the park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The well-maintained trails offer opportunities for scenic hikes through diverse ecosystems, where visitors can spot a variety of wildlife and bird species. The park's campsites provide a serene escape, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the peacefulness of nature. Whether you're exploring the dinosaur tracks, enjoying a picnic by the river, or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery, Dinosaur Valley State Park is a true gem that offers a perfect blend of adventure, education, and natural wonders.
Maria Laura Jimenez — Google review
Visiting Dinosaur Valley State Park was an experience of mixed emotions. The park itself appeared beautiful, that should have taken us back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The iconic dinosaur tracks are a must-see, offering a tangible connection to prehistoric life. However, our trip was somewhat marred by the fact that many of the trails were closed, limiting our ability to explore the park fully.
While the available trails did offer some enjoyment, the closures were a significant letdown, especially for avid hikers like us looking for a full day of adventure. The visitor center was informative, and the staff were friendly, but it couldn’t completely make up for the restricted access.
Despite the setbacks, we hiked the couple miles of trail that were open. I’d recommend checking trail availability in advance if you’re planning a trip. It's a fantastic park under normal circumstances, but our experience was not as enriching as we had hoped.

Just visited this amazing park for the second time on September 30, 2023. It’s simply incredible—hundreds of dinosaur footprints made by at least 5 different species over 100 million years ago when the limestone river bed was a muddy seashore or saltwater marsh. In addition to the river, where you can walk and hike when the water level’s down, there’s also miles of excellent hiking and walking trails throughout the park that offer easy to moderately difficult hiking and scenic views from the limestone cliffs overlooking the river. Adults and children love this place because it’s beautiful, fascinating, and there’s lots to do.

Wow. Great experience. Knowledgeable rangers, engaged and enthusiastic. The hiking was fun, the river and rocky shoreline picturesque, and the dinosaur footprints- amazing! We camped there (primitive) and our campsite was fantastic. Set in the woods, large, had a high hook for storing trash/food off the ground, and a nice set up for a grill/fire ring. Super family friendly…we have already made plans to head back again.
Mary Imran — Google review
The park was great! Only 1 camping loop (non primitive). Some of the spots were very close together so make sure you look at pictures. (If your going with friends may be cool to be 1 ft away.) Bathrooms were clean. The trails were closed due to rain when we got there 1/5/24 and 1/6/24. We we hiked around inner trails, to gift shop and dinosaur models. We then took a trip to Dinosaur World. (See that review for more info). On 1/7/24 we got coffee and hot chocolate with the rangers and talked by the fire. (Recommend cowboy coffee). We took a long hike and met up for the Tracks Talk. I recommend doing this as we would have had trouble finding the tracks without the ranger pointing them out. She explained the history of the park and the dinosaurs. There are miles of trails but most were closed. Several parks as well.

I came here today for the first time and brought my kids with me. We were super excited to see the dinosaur tracks and go swimming in the river. The kids had a blast in the river while I did all the work searching for the tracks. I was able to find two of them so that was super cool for us to see. We had a blast swimming. It was freezing like ice but we eventually adjusted to it a little. I would highly recommend wearing water shoes as there's parts in it that has a lot of rocks. The views were breath taking though! We loved it and are glad to get to add it to our experiences!

I've enjoyed visiting and camping here at Dinosaur valley State Park since I was a child. I enjoy the camping areas with the electric and water outlets, clean restrooms and showers are nearby. There is also primative camping near the river and horse trails. The trails range from easy to moderate and some areas have dinosaur tracks. The rangers are informative about the park and the park has areas with historical information posts. The sceneries are absolutely beautiful to walk through and look at — nature photographers would definitely enjoy the natural views and lookout points. One of my favorite seasons to visit is during the Fall and beginning of Winter. IF you are going to try and camp near the holidays... best to make reservations well in advance as the park fills up quickly.

Awesome state park. Must see, very nice park staff, great exhibit at the ranger station and nice gift shop. The dinosaur tracks in the river are amazing! Great photo can be taken by the gift shop with the life sized dinosaur models. Got to visit this park.

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been here but it never disappoints. We had a wonderful RV site for our trailer with plenty of shade. The Paluxy was low on water but we enjoyed walking in the low parts and looking at the dinosaur tracks. The rocks are slippery so take caution when traversing them. Make sure you get a spot that fits your trailer since some of the spots are small.
Barry & Kelli Jo Gurley — Google review
It is a must-see and must-do adventure waiting for you and your family and friends. Had an absolute blast Saturday evening and Sunday morning checking out the dinosaur tracks. The adults were just as giddy as the children seeing the drought revealed tracks. Wished my grown sons were with us because the tracks were underwater years ago when we first tried to see them. Be sure to make a reservation because many people want to see the dinosaur tracks before the rain returns.
Diana Bailey-Kent — Google review
This is a beautiful park with an extensive amount of things to do, We spent 4 days here and still didn't get around to seeing/doing everything.
Of course the dinosaur tracks make for the main attraction, and the dinosaurs were especially amazing for my dinosaur-loving toddler.
The Blue Hole was great for swimming, and there was a beach area to set up on.
Swimming at Rock Beach was fun too, and the sandy beach area was perfect for relaxing. The river bed was pretty mucky, though, making it less appealing for swimming.
There are miles of trails for exploring, with varying difficulty levels. A lot of these trails are shaded, too, which is great during the hotter part of the day.
Campsites were roomy and well kept. We stayed at campsite 20, which backed up to trails leading to Rock Beach and river access.
Bathrooms and showers were quite nice.
Tiffany Blair — Google review
Made reservations when the talk of the town was that the dry weather uncovered many tracks not viewed in years. Well, my luck brought lots of rain just before my stay which covered all the tracks and closed all the trails! We still had fun camping though. This is a beautiful park and is probably the best maintained that I have been to in many years. Staff was super friendly and offered needed advice. restrooms and showers were heated and welcomed on this freezing weekend. I plan to come back when it gets dry again to see the tracks.
Brian Bownds — Google review
If you drive 2 hours to see dinosaur stuffs, you will be disappointed. Yes there are some footprints in the river, not many, but that’s about it. It’s a beautiful scenic river. And the park is a great place for hiking camping and dipping into water.
Tip: drive south 8 miles to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center to have some cool interactions with wild animals.

We spent a day in the park and it was amazing experience hiking and exploring the park. The rangers are very friendly and experienced. Look for events on thier website to explore more about the park. Plenty of parking , if u arrive later after 10 am on a weekend, it may take sometime to check in . Only suggestion I have for everyone is to prepare lot of hydration yourself when you plan to hike . The hikes are mid-level difficulties and plenty of places in between to rest. Picnic tables and remote restrooms are limited. Pets are welcome on hikes and parks as long as they are on leash.
Manisha Pal — Google review
Loved it! Seeing actual dinosaur prints in person was amazing. The park is beautifully kept and easy to get around even for first time visitors. It does have a limit on how many visitors can go in so make a reservation online. Bring your walking shoes and prepare to get them wet or in my case take them off to cross the stream to the dinosaur prints. Totally worth it! We also enjoyed the solar viewing where we got to see real time solar flares and sun spots which was really cool. And the hiking trails were great and well marked. Highly recommended!
Nicole — Google review
I have seen pictures from Dinosaur Valley for years. I had a book in the 70s which showed the tracks.
Going here with kids was amazing and well worth it.
We went super early to avoid crowds and did a self guided tour. My biggest learning is even if tracks are “visible” they may still be under water. Luckily we were in hiking shorts. Be prepared to get wet if the water is up.
I would recommend a rager hosted talk or guided tour.
Avoid the “Creationist Museum” on the way to the park. Luckily it always appears closed.
John Gillett — Google review
Lots of trails to explore and things to see. Several Nice picnic areas. Prepare to spend the day here. Reservations are recommended because they will cut off visitors when it’s full. We barely made it in.
Christopher Bowler — Google review
This is a pretty park with lots of nature trails. We visited in early April and most of the tracks were under water, so be sure to bring wading shoes, shorts, and a towel.
Some of the trails looked like they weren’t maintained. Overall, a positive experience!

Absolutely fantastic Texas State Park. Awesome, friendly staff, nice Campground, clean bathrooms. We stayed in December and loved hunting for all the Dinosaur tracks. Used our e-bikes to travel around the park. Also plenty of hiking trails. A giftshop and store was also available. At&t cell was spotty.

Lovely place. We went to the park to watch the total solar eclipse that was the event of the decade. The park had set up some telescopes from volunteers, were educating kids, and were handing out eclipse glasses. Kudos the team there for having parking space for all of us to have a good view for the eclipse. We didn’t really have time to explore the park for the dinosaur fossils. But hopefully we will be able to see them the next time we are there.
Mahi (Jabberfoodwocky) — Google review
Great park we visited here from Late March to Early April, the camp ground stays busy continuously, sites are close to each other so there is no privacy, some of the tables and fire pits are joined at the hip, great for a family event and need a couple of sites.
Bathroom is clean 2 stalls and 2 urinals, showers in separate door 3 stalls, only one restroom per gender in the camping loop of 45 sites so it can be busy in the afternoon.
There is a restroom at the HQ bldg and another one at the day use area.
90% of the trails are across the river, and have a potential to be closed after rains.
All 3 river crossings are about ankle deep to mid thigh depending on the trail you choose.
We enjoyed our stay, staff was extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating.
The only bad thing I had was the port-a-potty by the dinosaur tracks was filled to the brim with waste it seems that it would be cleaned out more often than it had been.
Over 150 life-size models in natural outdoor settings, plus a fossil dig, playground, museum & more.
Perfect experience for our group; 3yo, 4yo, 14yo and 2 adults! All the plaques are easy to read and full of good information. The mineral buckets were super fun and a great bargain! They have a gift shop with tons of options, moving dinosaurs inside and a great mostly shaded walk through dinosaurs!

This place is amazing to go to, not just for kids but for adults as well. My 4yr old daughter has been talking about going here for over a year now and we finally got to go with my mom and two nieces and we all had a blast. They have a huge play ground, their museum was fantastic with the animatronic dinosaurs, meteorites, fossil's, all kinds of different teeth, tusk's, and more. The dinosaur walk path was great. I would recommend anyone that hasn't been to make the trip it's worth it and everyone will have fun. The prices are not as bad as I thought they would be. It was not crowded at all, and there is a pond with fish you can get food for and feed. And you have to check out the gift shop they have it's just amazing and have all kinds of neat stuff to get from toys to jewelry, to beautiful stones, fossil's, and gems.
Jesse Dufur — Google review
We had a great time. Most of the fun stuff does cost quite a bit of money though. But I think it was worth it. When we were there, they had some paleontologists teach us about different bones! It was a bummer to drive as far as we did only to have the museum closed for the owner's private party. Kind of annoying. You would think they could have at least discounted the entry ticket. But I think we would go again. Hopefully the museum is open next time.
Melissa Hamilton — Google review
Took our 3 yo grandson there. It was great. There was a place to dig for bones, a long hike with lots of replicas, a huge playground, mini golf, digging for fossils, and a museum with animotronic dinosaurs (a little scary for him). You could easily bring a sack lunch and spend a good chunk of the day there. We went early before the school buses arrived. It will definitely tire kids out. Good for older kids as well. Even educational for us as well.
Deborah Dufour — Google review
What a great place to view different dinosaurs. My family loved everything about it. Lots different types of dinosaurs and many photo ops. The gift shop is amazing and has about everything dinosaur related you can think of.

This is an amazing place to take your young children to explore and be amazed at all the different dinosaurs. This causes alot of interaction between you and the kids. The four year old told her mom she was not ready to go home she had more digging to do for fossils. You don't want to forget to buy the fish food! I have never seen anything like it!

The dinosaur park was an amazing experience - clean, well-maintained, and offered excellent value for the price. The facilities were immaculate, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great outing for families, with plenty of educational opportunities and interactive exhibits. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational day out.

Great for our boys 3-9-11
it was a nice day. Very nice walk, the kids enjoyed feeding the fish at the pond.
Lots of dinosaurs they loved the playground. We must have gone at a good time not to crowded. Then the Bone yard so much fun, anytime they can play in the sand 😉 good times

Came up from Houston for the day and the kids had a great time. Prices were reasonable for the fossil dig and gem mining 💎 ⛏️ my oldest (5) had more fun than my youngest (2.5) but the gift shop was well-staffed and the souvenirs weren’t exorbitant like I expected. Museum had a cool assortment of animatronic dinosaurs which my youngest thought were real so that was fun lol. Will come again in a couple years when they’re older. Great playground!

We took the grandkids and this was a huge hit. We made sure we had plenty of time for them to play and explore. The playground, fossil dig, and rock find were all great additions. The dinosaurs were everywhere and very nicely kept. We will definitely be coming back!

Super awesome experience especially for the kids!! The dinosaurs are life size and surprisingly the colors aren’t warm out from the sun. The kids loved it!

Dinosaur World is a cool and educational exhibit featuring a walking trail filled with dinosaur statues, an indoor museum with fossils and ending with animatronic dinosaurs, a children's playground, a picnic area and a vast gift shop. I'd say the dinosaur statues along the self-guide trail is more of artistic installations than anatomically / scientifically accurate dinosaur statues (look at the spinosaurus exhibit, for example). But regardless, they are really cool and really fun, especially for young'uns hitting their dinosaur phase. Dinosaur World is way out in Glen Rose, so depending on where you are visiting from, it can be quite the drive (we drove from Dallas, on a Saturday morning and it took us exactly 2 hours taking tolls whenever possible). The park can get hot, 92° when we went, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of ice cold water and a picnic basket as there are no snack shop on the ground. We had a lot of fun, we spent about 1.5 hours total before hitting up the Whataburger down the street. We'll definitely return, but we plan to stay over the weekend and visit the Dinosaur Valley State Park and Dinosaur World on separate days.

Great place for my two son’s. They had a great and fun time. They loved the dinosaurs. This will always be one they will always remember. The youngest told me after our day was done. “ this was the best day ever”.

Nice adventurous place to have fun with kids. They will enjoy about half a mile walk around the park (outdoors), indoor museum to learn history, mining, or fossil digging. Entry could be a little expensive depending on how many people are visiting and is the reason for a 4 star review.

We all had an awesome time. The boys got to do gem mining and a fossil dig. We loved exploring the park, and all the life size dinosaurs. The store has a bunch of cool items, including authentic, and replica fossils, bones, teeth, etc.

We went to this park the day after thanksgiving in the way back home. My 3 year old was so excited he couldn’t be still and was running down the path like a maniac. The dinosaurs were all so cool with info on each, there were fun and cute games and interactive activities on both ends of the trail as well as a great park. This is the first park I’ve ever seen with so many options for families to have a seat during their stay. And of course, the gift shop was a lot of fun. We got several things there as well. We spent a lot of time in the middle of the trail on the dock feeding the fish and turtles. This was such an adorable place to go and I’m so glad we stopped by. We talked about it many times since we left and intend on going again in the near future.

The kids loved this! Lots of dinos to learn about and see life size models on a beautiful walking trail. There is additional stuff to do like "mining" for gems, "digging" for fossils, and "uncovering" a dino skeleton!

Definitely for children. Do not go as a grown person expecting something really cool and magical.
There is a small museum and animatronics section which was cool and kind of scary because they would twitch. They have a gem dig that seemed popular (have to purchase dirt bag) and mini golf section (free with admission I think). Each hole for the mini golf is about 4 feet long and each hole looks almost the same.
The rest of the park is just a horseshoe trail of some plastic dinosaurs in the grass. Some of them look really cool if you believe.
Visitors can drive through this 1,700-acre center & view animals such as giraffes, antelopes & deer.
This place is great to bring the kids for a visit. There was a variety of animals and you get to feed the 🦒 out of your sunroof (or windows). Recommend going when it is warm but not too hot! I have feeling the animals might sit in the shade more in 100 degree weather but I can't confirm that. We went in spring when everything was green and it was fantastic.

Hand-feeding those friendly giraffes was a highlight of our trip to Texas. So friendly, would do it again. Fun how inquisitive the animals were as we drove slowly by. Good gift shop at the mid-point. Middle also has a nice little petting zoo where you can groom the goats. We walked a nice little trail at the rest stop too which had facts about the wildlife. Cheetah, zebra and rhino greeted us on the second half.

Had a great time. My kids enjoyed the animals and getting to feed them. We were worried because it was very hot in early July that most of the animals would be sleeping but they were fairly active! It’s kind of expensive but we spent over an hour driving through and feeding and looking at the animals.

Great experience. I loved the giraffes, but I had to wait in a line for the giraffes for 1 1/2 hours. It was worth it, though. Next time, I will spend the extra money to go on a trip in one of those safari trucks so I can get there sooner. The staff was really helpful and seemed they loved their job. While I waited in line to feed the giraffes, one of the workers talked to us the entire time so we wouldn't get bored. Also, the other animals were really close to are car. I've never been so close to those animals before, so it was a fun experience. I highly recommend coming here.

Absolutely love Fossil Rim!! Relaxing and as slow paced as you choose to go. This was our first time at the wildlife center. Animals are everywhere across the beautiful property and will come right up to your car. Me and the husband did the self guided tour and had a blast! At the gate entrance they give you food to feed the animals. Well worth the experience and we will be back!

I only give this five stars because my 9 yr old loved it! While I did enjoy it, I feel it is lacking in the variety of wildlife available. This is my second visit, but the previous was like 20 years ago!
Overall would do it again!
Pros:
*Many animals do walk up to the car for an amazing experience
*Animals were not aggressive
*Place and animals are well maintained
*The trip lasted a good amount of time, and it was not super crowded (this is more of an off peak season)
*GIRAFFES!!!! Which you can hand feed 💕🦒
Cons:
* one bag of food for the car, I do feel you should give one bag per ticket!
*We were having to ration out food, I’m talking one or two pellets with the occasional indulgence!
*Although my daughter loved it, and I did enjoy it, it is mostly deer/antelope type of animals with the occasional sprinkle of variety like an ostrich, zebra, and of course the giraffes!

Always a great way to spend your day with your family and get to be a part of nature. Price is a bit steep if you just do a one day pass, so you should consider getting an annual membership. The drive through the park is wonderful for kids to see animals roaming freely and to feed them with the provided feed. You will want to make sure your child rations out how much they throw at a time so that they have some for the giraffes at the end of the trip. Don’t forget to go to see the other animals near the gift shop midway through the trip.

Took my son on a safari adventure! We arrived early, at 8:30, when the park opened. We were able to see almost all the animals. The best part was when we fed the giraffes. My son enjoyed the entire experience. Feeding the giraffes and seeing his first ostrich were some of the highlights. You definitely want to save some of the feed they give you for the 🦒. Great experience and worth the cost to see the impact on my son

I recently visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for a self-guided tour with my family, and we had a fantastic time. Our main highlight was the giraffes, and we were not disappointed. We had the incredible opportunity to see several giraffes up close, with two of them even approaching our car. It was an amazing experience to be so close to these majestic creatures.
In addition to the giraffes, there were plenty of other deer and similar species to observe. However, it would have been even more wonderful to see a greater variety of animals, such as local Texas species like longhorns and bison. Nonetheless, the prices were fair, and the staff members were friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
The road within the center was easy to navigate, and the directions provided were clear, so we didn't need a map. This made the tour hassle-free and enjoyable. I'm already planning to visit again, and I can't wait to bring other family members along. Overall, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a great giraffe experience, and with some additional animal variety, it would be even more captivating.

We had a house full of family and kids for Thanksgiving week and was looking for something to do. This place was great. The kids and adults loved it. Feeding the animals was the highlight.
The only downside was the cool weather. There were giraffes, big birds (ostriches) or zebras anywhere to be seen. We will go back, but in warmer weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. There were numerous animals, and it was delightful to feed them, especially the giraffes, which the kids loved. The only disappointment was that we arrived a bit late at 3 PM, and we didn't see many animals approaching the car. I believe the early morning hours are the right time to witness animals up close.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a wonderful safari-style experience for families. Located in the scenic Texas countryside, it provides a unique opportunity to observe a variety of wildlife up close in their natural habitat. Kids particularly enjoy the chance to see animals like giraffes, zebras, and rhinos from the comfort of their car seats. The leisurely drive through the park is both educational and enjoyable, with informative guides available to answer questions along the way. Overall, Fossil Rim is a great place for families to spend a day immersed in nature and wildlife.

One of the best place for a unique family fun..
Be sure to follow the arrows if you take the self guided tour. We took a wrong turn and lost half of the tour and exited. And you can’t go back in. Admin wasn’t very helpful about it.
Also, tickets are non refundable, but maybe rescheduled. My parents couldn't make it and their tickets were wasted.
My car has a nice long deep scratch from the antlers of a deer. So don’t bring your car if you’re too sensitive.
You have to drive very patiently and carefully, lots of cars stop and take turns to feed and enjoy the animals…

Perfect day trip from Dallas.
I took the family here for my brothers birthday. Although it was hot out & a lot of the animals were relaxing in the shade we were still able to interact with a lot of them. I read that the average time spent here is 2 hours but we were there for almost 3 hours. They have a ‘1 bag of animal food per car’ rule but it’s a lot of animal food & if there are multiple people in your vehicle they will give you a few empty bags so the animal food can be shared amongst everyone in the car who wants to feed the animals. There’s a nice little cafe at the mid point with a pretty overlook. Conveniently located near other points of interest like the dinosaur park.

This was my first visit to Wildlife centre and I really enjoyed seeing all animals over there.
Advice :-
1. Try to go as early as possible so you can see all animals walking or running here and there. (Later after 11 AM due to sunny weather they might be taking rest under shadow or far way from your car)
2. Book tickets online in advance they gets busy in holidays.

We had the most incredible time at the wildlife center. This was our break as we drove across the country from colorado to Florida. The safari ride was amazing, the guide was so knowledgeable! She even made sure we got extra time feeding the giraffes and we felt so catered to. We will defiantly be planning to come back to experience this again.

This wildlife place is nice and really good to visit with kids. They have lots of animals and they remains really close to the cars. On the entrance you will be provided with food to feed animals. You can feed them from your car just stretching your hands out. They also offer a guided tour and it needs prior reservation. Watch out the weather forecast before you go.
Sadia Disha — Google review
A little pricey but really cool. It was pretty cold when we went so not a lot of animal activity. It is a lot bigger than expected with a nice break at the halfway point. We opted for the self guided drive through. For 2 adults and 1 child it was $85 and included one cone of animal feed.
Brian Bownds — Google review
Went on the self-guided tour on the weekend. When you reach the gate to check in they provided a cone of food to throw outside for bringing animals closer. We were hoping to stop at the cafe that was midway on the tour but unfortunately was closed. I do like the self pacing of the safari and can spend time focusing on certain animals.
One downside though is some cars do not follow the rules so you have to wait at times for space to drive around them. Animals do block the road so be sure to have food available to lure them away or can bring them closer to feed. By the end we still had a good amount of food so the last animals at the gate got a feast.
Was a different experience and wouldn't mind going again to check out the regular tour.

I could not have asked for a better experience! I did a guided tour and had an amazing tour guide, Alex. She is an animal expert!! She answered all of my questions and I learned so much from her. The animals were beautiful and it really was a 10/10 experience. My friend and I are still talking about it. I feel so fortunate to live close enough to enjoy such an adventure! I highly recommend the guided tour. We even saw baby animals!

Came on a Monday morning so it was not too crowded. Still enough for some cars no more than 4 to be backed up. Road is wide enough to pass them.
One thing to keep in mind is that the animals have a huge amount of land to cover, so you might not see every animal. The deers love to eat the pellet and are always waiting by the road. Unfortunately, did not see any zebras. I was skeptical that the entire routes take 1.5 hrs but it really did take that long. The halfway point has a gift shop, cafe, a children's center, and some hiking trails. I think the price is quite good to offer all of that. The cafe was decent w a great view, and I loved the children's center. There were many goats walking around you can pet and brush. The hiking trails were also very nice and casual. Not intense at all, but still not as if you're walking on a sidewalk.

Been here twice and it only keeps getting better!
We took the guided tour and we were 5 of us.
It is a very comfortable and scenic drive inside the 1800acre wildlife conservatory.
So many kinds of animals and birds!!! The giraffes, and deers are so friendly - they come right to your car sunroof/window and take a nibble of the animal feed provided by the wildlife centre.
Must visit for all age groups, definitely enjoyable for kids of all ages!
Also, come prepared with food if you plan to spend the day here - restaurants nearby are limited!

My family loves this place, we actually were going so often that we got a membership which is a great way to save money if you plan to go more than 2-3x per year. Everyone that comes to visit we take and they have a great time!
I also want to say every time we come it feels like a new experience because every season or day depending on the time you come and the weather the animals are different (e.g. in the spring you get to see lots of new little babies, in the fall the animals are super active when it isn’t too hot out, in the morning the animals are pretty playful)!
But what makes this place really special is not only seeing my kids light up because they get to feed a giraffe from their palm while sitting in the car, but all the conversation efforts they work on with the money they get from park visitors and donors!
Ashley McCracken — Google review
My recent visit to this place with my animal-loving daughter was a delightful experience. We had a wonderful time exploring and interacting with the various animals. Was lucky to feed a giraffe among 50 other vehicles and mostly everyone had failed as the giraffe chose to approach only me. From diverse species of deer and gazelles to majestic rhinoceros, the array of animals made it an unforgettable experience.
Tip: since its internal and speed limits are only 20 you can have your kids out of car seat for a better experience

Be sure to buy tickets ahead! I recommend the guided tour, otherwise, you will just drive through the park and not really know what you are looking at and what the significance is.
The tour provided treats to give the animals and lettuce to feed the giraffes. There were so many endangered animals in the park. It was humbling to be introduced to the programs that are saving the species from extinction. My favorite was the Southern White Rhino. We got to see the baby, Rocket, with his mom on the first day he was let out.
There’s a couple hiking trails, a cafe, gift shop, and a children’s animal center where goats roam and are ready to be spoiled.

Nice place to keep the kids engaged. We opted to ride in our own car instead of the safari to have more control over the time and spend more time with the favorite and most active animals that kids enjoy feeding We opened the sunroof and giraffe entered in to the car through sunroof for the feed. Unforgettable experience!!!

The last time we visited was almost 12-13 years ago and didn’t have much recollection. So, we went this time with a fresh perspective and were pleasantly surprised at the number of animals and the close proximity of interacting with them. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Wonderful! The animals are very well cared for and the tours are a must! You only short change yourself by driving through yourself! the guide was incredibly knowledgeable and loved her job! The work done here for the animals cannot be overstated as they not only care for but also help to save many of the species from becoming extinct. Again the tours are really the best way to experience this wonderful place.
Lakeside wooded area offering activities such as hiking, camping, boating, fishing & bird-watching.
Had a great time swimming. Water was cool and mostly clear. Saw a couple of fish jumping and watched an adorable ribbon snake cross the road. Coming back soon to hike.
Edit: Came back last Monday to hike Bosque Trail and it was very nice. It's a fairly easy trail with awesome sights, took 2 hours casually walking. Not busy at all given the day, saw a small group with poles and a polite Ranger that was maintaining it, we stopped and asked if he'd seen snakes today, he hadn't. When checking out the "pond" by the bird watching shelter a couple of Rangers told us its kinda sad story, built the pond but no rain to fill it, and asked if we needed water, that was sweet. We have a State Park less than 5 miles but Meridian (1hr away) is our new favorite.

The self serve kayak rentals are a great touch!

We only stayed one night at this state campground but we really liked it. It’s a very small campground with 15 campsites and some cabins. Half the campsites are full hookup and half are electric/water. The sites with electric/water are very small and will only accommodate a small camper. There are several beautiful trails which will take you over rocky terrain and through small seasonal streams. There is a lake and other areas to explore like Bee Cave. The wildflowers were everywhere! (Apr 2024)

Great park for camping, hiking and swimming. This is a NO WAKE lake, so leave all your motorized water toys(boat, wave runner, etc.) at home. Don't forget the kayaks and canoes. First time staying in a screen shelter, not so bad, really cool. We will stay again, very nice and clean camp grounds.

This is just such an amazing State Park! It’s so clean and you can tell they take pride in it. The camping cabin area is just amazing! It has easy access to water, easy access to showers and bathrooms too. It has this fireplace area with several benches . It also has this cute library cabinet there. The prices are so reasonable and such great scenery. Bathrooms are super clean too- which to me is a deal breaker. Very impressive. Many trails too

Had a great time staying at this state park. The wildflowers galore healed my tired soul, the park rangers were so kind and helpful, and the screened shelters in Juniper were great. Only two complaints are that one of the outlets in the shelter didn’t work, but there was another one by the door, and that the screened shelters are so close to each other that if you have inconsiderately loud neighbors like we did it spoils the vibe a bit. But, obnoxious guests are not the fault of the park itself! Also really liked that there were self-pay firewood and kayaks available to use.

This was our first visit to Meridian state park. It was very quaint and beautiful. The only thing that we didn't like was there was a pretty active hiking trail right next to our camping site so it didn't feel as private as other sites. Other than that, it was wonderful.

Biked to the park from Clifton TX on mostly gravel roads with a group. Campsites were neat and clean. Small walking trail was nice. Peaceful sleeping thanks to dark and quiet area. The water in the small lake was low, and the lake bottom was 6 inches of soft mud. Not many people swimming as a result.

What an interesting state park with really beautiful wild flowers. We decided we wanted to take some pics, but a state park police officer followed us to three different locations and asked what we were taking pictures of, if it was for a wedding or what. Not sure if he thought my gf was cute or had nothing better to do, but after the third time we found it creepy AF and left. One time he parked unnecessarily far away and hiked up the road as if to catch us doing something. It was very bizarre. Probably some small town hick cop with nothing better to do but regardless he ruined our experience.

Small intimate state park. 8 full hook up sites that are relatively level. They contain fire pits, grills and tables. They also have shelters and primitive camping. Very well maintained. We were at site 3 directly across from the bathroom and shower. Older but very nice. The hiking trails are more difficult in my opinion than the map states. Bosque says it is challenging on the map but I felt it was difficult, Shinnery was moderate on the map but was challenging etc. Even the one rated easy was moderate. Be prepared with hiking boots and a walking stick as the paths have loose limestone and slippery limestone rock to walk over. You may also have to drive to trail heads. We did all four trails and definitely worth the effort. It is just beautiful. Great camping experience as well as a wonderful staff.

It's a great place for hiking, camping, and kayaking. Although the kayak that I had didn't have plugs so I got my clothes and shoes wet during the chilli weather. They have nice fire pits and grills as well. You can loan fishing rods as well. The bathrooms were clean as well. Overall a great experience.

Do not bother stopping. The museum is closed, the soda shop is closed. They claim the gift shop/store is open but it’s really just a counter with a glass wall and one very rude employee. I feel bad because Dublin used to be a cute town with some fun things to do. Unfortunately, covid has choked them out a completely . The little downtown strip is dilapidated and sad. Most of the businesses and restaurants have closed down. All that’s left of Dublin is a Dairy Queen and a dollar general. RIP

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the soda is the absolute best I’ve had - especially the grape! Dublin Bottling Works was our FIRST stop today on our week-long family road trip, and I was excited to share the experience of stopping in Dublin for sodas with my kids as I had done as a child with my parents. I knew the soda shop was shut down, and I was ok with that. What we didn’t know was how much of an inconvenience our family would be to the gift shop attendant when we walked in, so much so that my husband saw her roll her eyes at me while I browsed the merchandise. We of course said nothing, but even my kids mentioned how unwelcomed they felt as we left the shop. It’s a shame that such a nostalgic and wonderful experience and product that I was so looking forward to sharing with my children is now represented by such a rude and inhospitable person - the FACE of the business for customers. Maybe rethink who runs the storefront so that you don’t end up losing loyal, generational customers.

I would definitely give them 5 stars even though I was not be able to be there before they close! This trip was in my bucket list for a long time. It did worth driving from Dallas all the way there tho! The facility was big and you could even see the inside from the windows outside. Leave early and you can make it before they close at 5. There is a shop next to it you can buy your favorite flavor soda, beer or ice cream. I did really enjoy visiting this lovely town! I would definitely come back again! ☘️

This place is legendary for their history of making Dr. Pepper with pure cane sugar. But, since the corporation took that away from them they are now bottling their own sodas. If you're driving through, it may be worth a stop.

We were disappointed that none of the machinery really worked, they could have it running just for tours, they had one machine that they showed as a demo but it didn't do all the things it could do. We were also disappointed that they didn't offer us a taste of any of the sodas. My husband has diabetes and can't really have it but could have a sip. The museum tour by the employee was nice and informative.

The facility of where it all started for the infamous Dr. Pepper soft drink we know today. But before it was known as Dr. Pepper, Dublin Bottling Works is the more humbling beginnings Location offers 2 types of tours that shares the history of the drink and it's branding better than I can. Both of which suited for all ages. Guided and unguided tours. However with the guided tours, patrons will have the ability to create there own "Dr. Pepper" soft drink to take home with you. Plus it's a good memorabilia to take with you whether you drink your concoction or not. The visitor center offers numerous flavors thru out the years Dublin has been running including their original flavors. It's a pleasant visit for anyone who wishes to Branch out.

Good customer service, good prices. Very limited selection and the Dr Pepper museum is closed so it's a consolation.
We are a family of 5 and we loved it! Well worth the money! The staff are friendly and helpful. The drive through zoo takes over an hour to drive through it all. We bought 5 bags of feed and that wasn't enough to last until the end. Although, the camel reached his head in and grabbed one of our bags! Lol So be aware the camels will steal your bags! The ostriches will try that too! There were tons of animals out there. You'll get a pamphlet of all the animals they have. There's a mini zoo to walk through as well with peacocks free roaming. There's a little shop that you can get more feed for the petting zoo, snacks and drinks, and merchandise. The petting zoo is a large area with tons of goats to feed and pet.

The little guys loved it. The animals weren't really hungry, so we didn't have as many as they would have liked, but the plus side of that is, they look healthy and well taken care of. I love that they are not afraid of the cars or people and come right up to the car. The prices are better than some of the other ones I have been to. Admission and the price of food is doable. The really nice thing is they don't charge a separate fee for the petting pen. Even though I didn't see anything but goats it was well worth it for the kids. That's who it was for and they had a great time.

Family had a BLAST! Get to the park early when the animals are still hungry. Food bags are an amazing bargain at just $1 a bag. We purchased 30 bags and they're good size but they go fast. The camel 🐫 will steal at least two bags just fyi and it will stick it's entire head in your vehicle and eat the entire paper bag 😂. So fun! Goats love people and some babies will fall asleep in your lap. We needed that great day. Thanks so much for the great time Topsey!!!!

Took my son here for his one year birthday. He absolutely loved the animals. It was an amazing experience for his first birthday. Then the petting zoo, definitely be careful if you walk in with feed, let me tell you. I was doing great at holding my ground, till I tried to take a step back 😂 then I got offered to hold the baby goat. My son was less thrilled after the drive around to see the animals, he was definitely ready for a nap. But this is a great place for everybody regardless of age.
Oh and I want to include, price wise, was a great deal. We ended up getting 8 bags of feed in total, only a dollar a piece.

We had an amazing time here at the ranch. Great place to bring animal friendly children. I would recommend buying more feed bags than you think. We bought 25 and ran out because of that pesky camel. HE WILL STEAL YOUR BAGS

Love this place. I’m here at least twice per year. Animals are well taken care of. Lots of variety of animals. My kids love feeding the goats in the corral. Admission prices and feed are good for families.

Amazing. What a great day we had. Safari park was brilliant. Enough animals to keep it interesting, always something interesting around the corner. Bison, antelope, deer, hilarious ostrich, energetic emu. The feed was cheap. The entry price just right. 3 to 4 hours of animal fun. A nice Cafe or food stop would be nice. But it's a really great, good cost, family entertainment day. Please go and support. The goat !!!!

It’s pretty cool to see such big animals come to your window and stick there whole head and neck in your car. Hold on to your feed bag because the bigger animals will take the whole thing. It was lot of fun. The petting zoo was okay just goats.

A fun activity for the whole family. We paid about $65.00 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers plus 5 bags of food.
It was our first coming to this drive-thru safari
and we will be coming back.
Closed shoes will be helpful to keep away the huge ants' bites.

It was so much fun. The kids enjoyed every minute along with the adults. The animals look well cared for and the enclosure is clean. So many animals to see here. Lots of babies.

This was our 2nd time here and not sure what happened to all the animals? They were very scarce this time. My young grandchildren still enjoyed feeding the few animals along the trail.

Bathrooms? Yes! Gift shop with snacks? Yes!
Get more animal food than you think. Toss single pieces, not handfuls. It's a pretty good long ride through the park with a lot of different types of animals. Most are up and active earlier in the day.

Our oldest son had one of the most amazing days of his life, he always likes to go to the zoo, but he usually struggles as he wants to touch the animals, our little one was also very excited and he is only 6 months old. This was a perfect place for our kids, we spend 2 hours driving through (most vehicles spend only one hour). We let many vehicles pass us whole we kept enjoying every single moment. What I like about this place is the fact that the road is wide enough to let other vehicles continue while you stop the amount of time you want, other places they put in their website that if you have vehicles behind you to keep moving which I didn't like. We are visiting a safari like place for the experience, I wanted to spend the time my son wanted and not be in a hurry for other people schedule. I will definitely visit this place again.

This was my first time going, and my boy and I had a great time! There are so many cute animals there, and OMG...the zebras ❤️. The animals are smart and will stand in front of your car to make sure you stop and feed them lol. We were warned about the camel (but it was asleep), but watch out for the ostrich, as it will peck at your car.
I made the mistake of getting only one bag of feed because I was not expecting the trail to be so long. We ran out towards the latter part of the trail 😅. They're only a dollar, so get several bags.
I don't like the tiny enclosures for the animals you see prior to entering the safari 😔. I'm not a fan of zoos for this reason, and I thought they would have more space at an outdoor petting zoo.
It would also be helpful to have more info on the animals at the zoo, whether it be on their website or pamphlets. You get a pamphlet, but it's limited as there are far more types of animals at the zoo, and it provides no info about them; it would be a learning experience for both the young and old.

I've been wanting to come here for the last 3 years we've lived in central Texas. Decided to try it out on Memorial Day. Staff member at gate was informative. We bought 2 bags of food for our teens. That was plenty to get all the way around. Of course the animals are food motivated so they came up to the car. Was a really fun! Evan the teenagers were laughing and having a good time. There's a petting zoo also. Price was worth it.

Buy several bags of feed. Its a peaceful and enjoyable drive around area feeding the animals. Lots of photo moments.
Slides/pools 3/5: This place is small but good to go get wet for a few hours. There are a total of 4 slides, a kids splash area and a pool with a couple diving boards but they wont let you do any flips. There's a 3" area so babies can get wet too :)
Food 4/5: They sell brisket nachos that were really good but were $8. They have pulled pork sandwiches, burgers and more. You can bring coolers but can only bring in waters.
Seating 3/5: The gazebo areas are for rent so get there early to get an area under a big community umbrella or a tree. There are chairs but no lounge chairs to lay out and tan on.

Super fun! Glad my kids are finally tall enough for slides! Lots of seating and different play areas for even the little kids! Very well staffed, lifeguards all over the place!
Taylor- Marie Gormley — Google review
I was excited to take my daughter here for a day to escape the heat wave... I was disappointed that she was about an inch too short to ride the slides with me. Definitely not their fault though, so the only area we could play in was the shallow play area.
Unfortunately, a lot of the kid's area was coned off and not working.
The teenage life guards have an attitude if you have to ask them any questions.
Seating is scarce it looks like you are allowed to bring in outside seating however.
You may bring a cooler with waters and snacks!
The cost was extremely reasonable! For both my daughter and I, it was only 10 dollars.
Overall 3/5 because for the price we had a lot of fun...but it could have been much better had I known to bring my own seating and if the attitudes and equipment had been better!

Small but fun for families. Short season, but when they are open they have stuff for all ages including a splash pad, laps pool, diving boards, slides of varying intensity, canopy covered seating, full changing rooms, lockers, and a snack bar.

For the price, this is a good place. I just wish they had been a bit more attentive when it comes to the water. Unfortunately it smelt of algae/river water, at that was only 2hrs from opening when we got there. I have tried the Lions junction water park in temple and that place is 5 star.

This place is definitely a summer must. The water quality is great per my pool operator fiancé and the slides are a blast! I will say this is definitely a place to go during the week. A long time ago, when I was younger, I went with my mom and siblings on the weekend, and it was super packed! So strongly suggest going during the week if you can, but nonetheless it was super fun and the perfect summer activity.

Lions club water park in Killeen tx is fun for little ones and older kids. 4 years old and under is $5 . 5 years old and up $7 ( if you live in Killeen). If you live out of Killeen it is few dollars more . I was able to buy 2 hot dogs, 2 Gatorades and a bag of chips for $9 .
The only down side ...must be here early because it is not a huge park so once it is full you will have to wait until peole leave. There is no refunds or rain checks.

The park is a community one that is relatively inexpensive to go to. There are a few slides here but nothing to go on about. They have a small children’s area, a pool, and diving boards as well. It is fairly clean and the staff is decent. However the park is usually crowded, filled with teenagers and adolescents who’s parents use the park as a babysitter and don’t watch the kids. He teenagers rough house, shove, and curse next to small children and don’t care if they hurt them. The staff stops them sometimes but not enough. They take swim breaks every so often where everyone has to get out of the water and all the water is shut off. Between that and someone usually throwing up in the water, they are always shutting down the pools so you feel like you’re always stopping.

Park is beautiful. Staff is very helpful. We did the easy trails first but they proved a little flat although beautiful. We did the Gorman falls trails and it was lovely. I liked the challenge and length of it. Our kids 10/15 loved it too. We went in cold weather and fared well with just one bottle water each but if it’s hot definitely take more water and some snacks maybe to eat while enjoying the views at the falls.

It is a very beautiful park full of hikes. I want to return and explore it more. In the summer, it gets very hot during day. I would recommend a visit in out of the summer time if you are planning to do long hikes. The park also have great springs that are so refreshing. I really enjoyed relaxing there. As I went on a summer day, I spent most of my time in the springs section. Wildlife can also be seen in the park.

Great state park! Ranks in my top 2 favorite state parks/natural areas in Texas! Absolutely beautiful! It's remote(!), has almost 30 miles of hiking trails through a variety of landscapes, animals everywhere, and the park rangers and park police were all very professional and friendly.
Be prepared for a more... primitive experience. No electrical hookups, or RV dump stations, and the bathrooms are the compost/vault style. Each of the 2 main camping areas has only 1 spigot for potable water, and at the time of my visit Labor Day weekend 2023, the park store and showers were locked up. I had absolutely zero phone reception, even on the more elevated peaks of the park.
I was unable to hike all of the trails in my 2 full days at the park. I hiked everywhere, no driving to trailheads. So though I hiked 15 miles a day, I did not hike 30 miles of unique trail each day. What follows are my opinions of the trails that I was able to hike during my stay.
The River Trail follows the Colorado River, and at some points of the hike, you get a fantastic view of the river. You also spend a lot of time walking beside a small cliff face opposite the river side of the trail.
Gorman Springs Trail and Gorman Falls trails were both beautiful trails. I hiked these from the north end of the RiverTrail. I saw the full Gorman Springs trail (wonderful!), but only about .3 miles of the Gorman Falls trail... the falls were beautiful as well!
Tinaja Trail I hiked from end to end, leaving Gorman Falls. It's a wonderful, challenging trail with many opportunities to take a wrong turn and no markers to keep you on trail. I tracked previous hikers several times in these instances (NOT a 100% foolproof strategy, FYI, but far more effective than a coin flip).
I picked up the Cedar Chopper Loop when I completed the Tinaja trail, and circled it the long way to get to the Old Gorman Road trail. This loop trail is one of two in the park, and was the more interesting loop trail given the natural features, but nothing breathtaking.
The Old Gorman Road trail was nothing special. I wish I had opted to take the Dogleg Canyon trail instead. This was a walk down a hill, and back to the river through more of a grassland type landscape.
The Spicewood Canyon trail was probably my favorite trail of the bunch. Like the Tinaja Trail, this one is a bit challenging, but it is well marked and has some spectacular views of the canyon.
The Lemon Ridge Pass trail West from where it meets the Spicewood Canyon trail was my least favorite trail. It runs along the very south edge of the park, constantly exiting onto this dirt road that runs between the park and the private property to the South. It was very confusing locating where to pick up the trail from the dirt road. I don't know what the trail is like from where it meets the Spicewood Canyon Trail going East back to the River Trail.
The Lively Loop from the Lemon Ridge Pass trail to the Windmill Trail was nothing but grassland, and not very interesting. I don't know what the majority of the trail is like, but it appeared very open and exposed to the sun.
The WIndmill trail only had the windmill, the rest was just grassland and very exposed to the sun. It was worth the hike to make it to the windmill.
My only complaint about the park is that there are literally only two water spigots, both of which are located on the far East side of the park. The park is around 9 miles wide, West to East, nearly 30 miles of trails, and in an area where people are likely to suffer heat exhaustion/stroke during the summer. A couple more water spigots, in other areas of the park would be a huge deal.

Great park that I have visited many times. My dog loves it. Easy 90-minute drive from metro Austin. It's probably best known for the falls, but it's a large park with a variety of different trails and diverse terrain. A few things to know:
1. Very limited cell service.
2. By mid/late summer, the river and falls can be virtually dry. Best viewed in winter and spring.
3. In my experience, the booth at the entrance gate is usually closed. Entrance fees are required, and the Rangers office is a few miles. I usually book online and print the pass to put on my dash.
There's an ostrich farm as you approach Bend just a few miles from the park. We always stop if the ostriches are hanging out. They seem just as interested in us!

Beautiful park with great trails! Hiked a couple different trails with the last one being the Gorman Falls trail. It was quite the trek, especially at the end, but so worth it. Once you get to the bottom, it’s so serene. I got in over 6 miles of hiking all together and I was happy with all that I saw. Armadillos roam free here foraging for food along the trails. Restrooms are vault type no flush toilets. There is quite a few of them though.

If you decide to hike down to the falls, it is the rockiest trail I've ever been on!
Warning: This is not an easy hike for small kids or anyone who is not very sure-footed or trying to take a cart! Summer hikes will require more time and water than you can possibly imagine! Be sure to pack more water than you think you'll need. It will be the longest 1.5 miles (one way) of your life! You will thank me!
Due to the lack of markings on the trail down to the falls, and the fact that you can't take your eyes off the trail (due to the rockiness of the path) pay close attention to turns and leave "bread crumb" markers if you are unsure.
Note to the Park Rangers: There really needs to be better trail markings! No wonder there have been so many rescues this year! Currently there are very minimal markings! It had been 10 years since we had made that hike and we took a wrong turn that led us down a steep ravine to the creek bed.
Other than that, Gorman Falls is beautiful. The water in the Colorado River is very low this year and is not fun to swim in. The small pool/grotto area where the falls drain into the river is beautiful and refreshing. Be prepared to go swimming because you will be very hot from the hike!

AWESOME state park. Views are spectacular. In summertime, Gorman Falls is a trickle. Definitely worth your time to spend it either going to Rusty's roost or to one of the Spicewood trails. Saw some people towing in Kayaks. About five or six miles from the entrance to the state park, please drive slowly! There are deer and baby deer that do not know what they are doing and they can definitely get spooked. 40 oz of water per person during the summertime is an absolute necessity. Everyone needs to bring a backpack with water and some kind of protein energy bars. Our 3-hour trip to the roost in back started in 92° heat and went to 103. Prepare prepare prepare! Great news at Rusty's roost!!

We camped here two nights and had lots of fun. The facilities were well kept, the bathrooms could've been cleaner but management did clean them frequently, so I don't think it's their fault. The area is really nice and beautiful.

I feel like this park could use a lot of updating/refreshing like some of the other Texas state parks have been receiving. Once we drove through the front entrance, you are driving down this very nicely paved road with incredible views on both sides of the road of wildflowers and overlooks. Then you get to the end near the campsites and it turns to gravel road. The park store is a very tiny building with room for maybe 3 guest at a time inside. They did have budget friendly drinks and snacks, a little bit of fishing gear and a few tees/tanks. The day use area had 5 picnic tables facing the beautiful Colorado River and bluffs. We noticed several people fishing pulling in fish by the minute. Parking area was large and had plenty of room for several vehicles. However, the boat ramp was closed due to a wash out it appeared. We only seen one bathroom located near the fish cleaning area. The bathroom had 2 stalls with pit toilets. The fish cleaning area looked like it hadn't been used in years, dust covered, and spider webs all over everything. We noticed the parking areas with the campsite numbers on them, but didn't check out the campsites as they were located down below the parking area. We did 3 trails here, the Gorman Falls Trail, Spicewood Springs Trail and a good portion of the Spicewood Canyon Trail. All of the trails we did would be better to do early on hot days. It was 85 degrees in May when we started out and by the time we got to our car 5 hours later, it was 88 degrees. The Gorman Falls Trail took us 2.5 hrs to complete roundtrip and stopping to take pictures of the falls. We seen several in flip flops doing this trail, but I would strongly advise against that! The end is almost straight down slick rocks, there is cables to help, but I feel if I wouldn't have had on shoes with gripping, I wouldn't have made it down without sitting down and sliding down. This would be a hard trail to do right after a rain shower. The falls were nothing like the pictures we seen online, but were absolutely beautiful! The calcium deposits is part of what made these falls so unique and amazing! On our way back, a rattlesnake under a tree had hissed and lunged out at a hiker in front of us. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it was less than a foot from the trail, so keep your eyes open. For the Spicewood trails, we decided to go past the springs first and climb up to the canyon trail. To do the big loop of both trails together it took us a little over 3 hours. There was tons of people swimming in all of the bigger pool areas of the springs. I get over heated easily, and I found it harder to finish the last mile of the up and down hill climbs of the canyon trail. If we were to do it again, we'd walk the canyon part of the trail first and end in the springs area. Make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing and shoes in the spring area as you are crossing up to ankle deep water in several spots as well as walking along sharp cliffs/bluffs. We seen several kids and dogs on the springs trail. The canyon trail we only ran into 3 separate hikers and the trail didn't look very disturbed like it isn't hiked much. We found the Spring trail to be well marked, but you do have to look for the blazes as sometimes they aren't where you would think they are. We will visit the park again, but just note that it is in the middle of nowhere. Bring plenty of water and snacks as there's no where for 20 miles to get anything. It seemed to me that this park is popular for the springs, fishing, and the trails.

This park is beautiful! Even the drive up from the San Antonio area is enjoyable. We hiked the Gorman Falls Trail to the 70 ft waterfall and loved the view.
There is a short section as you get to the falls where you need to be very aware of your footing and stability.
During the summer, be sure you have plenty of water and wear sunscreen. There are large sections of the trail without shade.

Loved Colorado Bend State Park, this is my 3rd time visiting; first time camping here. The park is well kept with plenty of restrooms and accessability. The trails are clean but maybe not for everyone as some parts of some of the trails have rocks poking out of the ground (not suitable for biking or wheelchair access.) A LOT of wild armadillos here and other wildlife. We saw 6 wild Bighorn Sheep in the park while we were there (extremely rare in Texas, but a true testament to the size and remoteness of the park as a whole.) Staff were very helpful and caring about making sure we had all the information we needed. Only negative is that most of this park does not have cell phone service (could be a plus, depending on what you're looking for)

Had a great time hiking here! Elevation changes and rocky trails made it difficult but a lot of fun. We lost our way once or twice due to a mix of the weather and sparse trail markers, but it was great fun.

We were at the HEB center to watch Cirque Du soleil's .. Crystal. This is our third Cirque experience, and the first one outside Canada and our first full on-ice production experience. The show was amazing as always and was high paced, full of energy with strong choreography and some amazing feats of physical strength. The venue was good and seating was rather average, in terms of comfort (we were seated in the first row). Would recommend this show to any Cirque fan ...

Great venue of artist even though Tank didn't show. We sat on the floor and had awesome experience. The only reason the tasting is so low is the security to get in was strict, which is good, but inside ppl were just doing what they wanted. Arguments over tickets were handled by no one and some guy just came and sat on the railing by us and no one said anything. People hung out in the side aisle who told us they had bad tickets and didn't want to sit upstairs. Not very secure.

Absolutely stunning venue! We were there for a Hockey match, and the place was packed. Full house, yet didn’t feel like sardines packed into a tiny space. Restrooms and snack bars abound, so it’s never a problem getting to and from both, with reasonable prices for food and quick trips to the restroom without long lines, even with full capacity. We’re going back for Disney on Ice coming up soon!

Had an awesome evening for the Shinedown concert. It was my first time at this venue and I was not disappointed. We had floor/pit tickets. I will say this. A hockey team does play here for some part of the year. So the entire arena floor was really cold while we were down there. I recommend wearing pants and long sleeves during that time. Other then that, this a great concert venue!

Really well designed venue. While any arena or event center can feel crowded at times, the HEB Cedar Park Center has one of the best overall layouts and set of proportions that I have come across. The parking is easy, the entry is easy, the food lines are shorter than a big arena, the bathroom lines are rare, and the ticket prices tend to be reasonable. Proud to have this awesome place in our small corner of Austin!

We have been to several events at the HEB Center at Cedar Park over the past few months. Hockey games, and in the past week, 2x the Cirque du Soliel performance of Crystal. The Center is a very comfortable place, seats are average, but comfortable. The view is pretty good from just about anywhere, the benefit of a small arena venue. The concessions are decent, don't save your appetite to dine at the Center if you're on a budget or watching your diet.
The food is pricey, and most of the offerings are of the high carb, high fat variety! Loaded nachos, loaded baked potato, BBQ sandwich with fries, chicken nuggets, etc. It's not diet food! It's stadium food. Don't show up at the Center looking for sushi and/or a salad, it's not there. You can snag a hot pretzel or a scoop of Amy's ice cream... we always eat before we go, so for us it's usually a shared iced tea, cheap and easy enough. Beer, wine and cocktails available if you're so inclined.
We enjoy the Center, only 10 minutes from home. Good events, nice place, restrooms clean, staff nice, ushers super helpful. We enjoy our visits to the Center, recommend it if there is a event you want to attend!

Worst experience of my life. We ubered to location was in traffic for over an hour (with us leaving early ) only two police cars directing traffic. We get the center and lines are extremely long. Finally made to our seats and You can only see a large stage and two small screens . The lighting was poor, you could barely see the performer's face. Can't tell you how disappointed I was with this center. They do alot of big shows here, but this was the worst experince of my life, so disappointed. The set up sucked.

GO STARS! The H-E-B Center is a serious competitor with other venues within the area of greater Austin. I've only attended the venue for hockey games, but the security, service, and cleanliness is always top notch when I go! Traffic control provided for large events, free parking (GA only), and close proximity to shopping/food! As far as the hockey experience goes, the H-E-B Center is customer service friendly to all walks of life, continuously hosting fun events, and keeping their prices affordable!

My husband and I had a blast at the HEB Center for Wheel of Fortune LIVE! To the staff, yall were AMAZING, helpful, and helped make our night even more pleasant. The seating is pretty comfortable and spacious. Just a reminder ITS COLD inside! Plenty of choices for food and drinks.

Great state park! We stayed in site 332 and had plenty of room. We were close to two clean restrooms with showers. There is access to the water but the entry point is a little dirty. The neighbors still got in and enjoyed the water. There are vending machine type spots to buy firewood and a general store. This is a popular park which books quickly but for good reason. Try it out, there’s something for all!

We needed to get away for a couple of days and Inks Lake State Park was perfect for my husband to do some bank fishing and for me to hike some trails. Mother Nature didn't disappoint and neither did the busy park staff. The park was buzzing with new construction activity but they didn't start too soon or continue too late in the evenings. The cabin that we booked had cool AC and adequate bunk beds. We enjoyed the colorful sunsets and the wildlife: deer, birds, cotton tail rabbits, and a skunk.

Awesome park for a comfortable camping or outdoor experience. Our family camped in a tent overnight and did some hiking. The trails and park were well maintained. The tent area was really night. Close proximity to other sites, but not cramped. The bathrooms were new and so nice. A good bathroom is crucial to a comfortable camping experience. They also had a small general store that had anything you may have forgotten. At peak times, the line does get long for the store or check in. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They have backpacks that you can check out for the night. They have activities and informational books for the kids. There was also a compass, binoculars, crayons, and a journal that kids have lefts notes in to be passed on. There’s a workbook with activities for them to do to earn junior ranger. The kids enjoyed it.

We stayed in site 273 Aug 5-6, 2023, and had lake access. The park looked well kept but unfortunately the showers were really hot due to the 105° temperature outside. Each shower has its own room but even at 9pm at night it was so hot in the showers- my towel felt so hot like I had just taken it out of the dryer. Texas heat is brutal!
We biked to the trail to Devils Water Hole and then hiked the 5 minutes in. The water was full of clumps of algae floating around and the rocks were very slimy and the water was warm. We swam for about 30 minutes and then we were just grossed out. My kids jumped off the rocks into the water- one place is about 15 feet and the top of “chicken rock” is 32 feet.
We didn’t see any snakes or really any nature other than ducks in the water and little red ants everywhere. At night it’s cool to see the bats flying around and the stars are easy to see.
There is a really nice state park store with really nice ladies working in there. Lots of souvenirs and even food and camping supplies.
We would possibly return when it wasn’t so hot and the water was cleaner.
We visited the Spider mountain bike park just 25 minutes away where you can rent mountain bikes and ride the chair lift to the top and bike down. They do have a hiking option.
We visited the town of Burnet which had lots of antique stores and a flea market.
We also visited Longhorn Cavern State Park and did the cave tour- neat place!

One of the best places we have visited. The small cabins fit our family just fine. Appreciated the AC unit for sure during the summer time. The hike and cliff jumping at devils hole was so much fun!!!
Hope to fish next time.
Water was a great cool temperature. Bathrooms are very well taken care of.

We loved this state park and will definitely come again. The sites have ample space, many are water and electric and lots of water only sites. Most sites will require some leveling. Great place to ride bikes, kayak or canoe. There are some older shower houses with restrooms as well as some newer ones. Nice hiking trails. Great park store where you can rent kayaks, and borrow fishing gear. Close to two towns with restaurants and grocery stores.

We really enjoyed our time hiking at Inks Lake State Park. The trails were a great variety of lakes, forest, rocks, and desert. We ended up hiking 5.5 miles using several of the well marked trails. This park has a huge amount of campsites for people interested in camping, all that seemed nice. Very nice State Park, highly recommended for hiking day trip.

We like the hiking trails here. The terrain is exposed and decomposed granite outcroppings and trails. The trails are rocky, rugged, uneven and somewhat of a workout for most of us. We like the lake trail (park near the entrance gate) to woodlands trail, cross the paved road and go around the mountain and under the power lines to connect over to Pecan Flats, then head back across paved road and finish the loop to parking lot. BOOTS RECOMMENDED. RUGGED TERRAIN with gradual elevation changes. Love this hike.

Gorgeous park! Some of the hiking trails are rocky with exposed granite outcroppings and can be uneven. I would recommend wearing boots. The views of the lake from multiple locations are amazing! Pets must be on a leash. Great spot for birding! One of the best state parks in Texas!

Great park. Well kept. They have obviously worked very hard to keep it clean. Water was clean and you could see fish swimming about your legs. They rent kayaks, paddle boards, fishing poles, etc. The Park Rangers are a little aggressive. I saw them interact with several people over minor infractions. They patrol often. Like every 10 minutes one would drive by! The don't put up with BS.

The staff at check in was very friendly and knowledgeable. I think the signage within the park could be a bit better in placement as some were hidden further back into a turn than they needed to be, but we did make it over to The Devil’s Water Hole. It was nice to have a large no wake zone for paddling on my SUP board, but it’s cool that they offered canoe, kayak, and SUPs there as well. I’d definitely come back.

Arrived without a reservation but was thankful the staff went above and beyond to find a spot for me. They answered all my questions and were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Spot I got was choice, with a nice view of the lake, in the shade, and close to the restroom/showers. Place is very scenic and relaxing. At night if you are camping small creatures will come by your campsite but are harmless and adds to the camping adventure. I took advantage of the hiking trails and swimming here was excellent. Place is very well maintained. Bathrooms and showers look new and are very clean. The bathroom /showers have good ventilation that keep the place cool and dry. Wonderful place and I had a wonderful experience here.

One of my favorite local camping spots in the Austin and surrounding area. The water is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing. The grounds are well maintained with nice showers and restrooms. Do some research before you book, I assure you not all campsites are equal but there's plenty of great options with water and electric or primitive if you want privacy.

We just spent 3 nights here in campsite 211. Awesome experience! We camped with 2 other families who were nearby and they had a great time also. There were 8 kids among us and this park is great for kids. Make sure bring your fishing tackle or rent/borrow some from the camp store which is well stocked. We also rented kayaks and paddled around which was beautiful. There’s lots of shade and the lake is constant level so you can always cool off in the water. Make sure also to visit Longhorn Cavern State Park which is a short drive from Inks Lake and a great tour. We will be back!

Amazing state park, many sites have water views and lots are right on the water. Lots of waterfowl including ducks and geese, there are no alligators. It’s very clean and quiet with lots of walking paths. The campground is very spread out and the road is paved so lots of people use the loop road for bike riding. There’s a great little country store on site. We’ll be returning here, we very much enjoyed our visit.

We really enjoyed our three nights here. Lots of easy trails to hike.
There is a swimming hole but it really doesn't have a good designated entry. The bottom is silty and grassy. The water was refreshing. Best enjoyed with water shoes.

Looove this tiny lake! Shady trees to hammock for day use. Camping here is very competitive and you gotta book 5 months in advance. Best little general store than most parks. Cute merchandise, tons of selection, and did you know they do cute little stamps for visiting each State Park in a passport thingie?! Super pumped for that.
The campsites are STELLAR - most have views and shady trees. Canadian geese have their adorable babies right now.
Trails are easy & shaded.
Dogs on leash allowed 🐕

First time camping here. I had to be on the right AND left of headquarters. Stay on the right side if possible because the right side is uneven and more rocky compared to the campgrounds on the left. Bathrooms are the best I've seen so far in any campground.

Inks lake is an absolutely beautiful state park!
Family friendly, and a great place to go to!
The rangers did a fishing program and they did an amazing job. They had stations teaching youth about the laws regarding fishing, the fish, the rod, then they gave everyone who showed up their very own foldable fishing rod to take home! It was an amazing learning experience and I hope they continue to do it.
The camp sites are a little awkward if you have a large group however, there were picnic tables and grills at every spot as well as very nice bathrooms with showers.
They have a general store, kayak and canoe rentals, 2 parks, fishing spots.
Out of all the state parks I've been to this one has to be my favorite.
All and All I highly recommend coming here!

Beautiful and clean. Inks Lake Park has provided my family so many memorable moments. Great place to relax or fish, bike, and hike.
This family friendly aquarium has an impressive variety of sea life, including corals, tropical fish, sharks and rays, as well as tropical birds and reptiles. There are special programs where visitors can interact with the animals.
Wonderful find in Austin! It's in a strip mall, so you don't think it's going to be anything special but it was the most interactive animal experience we have ever seen! We loved every minute! You have to buy tokens to interact with the animals but it would have been fun with or without.
Alysia Gates — Google review
We felt like we were in the wrong place because the front looks like part of a strip mall. Once inside, we were pleasantly surprised. It's a mixture of zoo and aquarium animals. They really push the tokens for feeding the animals to make it more interactive. There was a small concession stand area and play place which the kids loved.
Lisa Cox — Google review
The thing I liked the most was that this location was very hands on. You could basically almost touch all of the animals. You should buy tokens before visiting the exhibits to feed the animals ( if you want) otherwise you'll have to go back out to get them. The location was strange as it was located inside a shopping center. It's a small aquarium but still enjoyable.
Tara Maceyko — Google review
Extremely surprised how interactive the visit was! My friend and I got to pet a lot of the animals as well as feed them! There are tokens for purchase to feed animals, but most of the exhibits were free so you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy! All the employees truly care about the animals and making everyones experience so much fun. The employees are knowledgeable about the animals too! Ryan was an employee who showed us Louie the crocodile! Such a fun experience! Highly recommend!

It was a very surprising visit to say the least. Pulling into the parking lot I was very skeptical of I would enjoy this experience. Once inside, I was amazed! They pack a LOT of things into the space. Sea life, ringtail lemurs, lizards, turtles, fish and birds! A few highlights were petting the rays which love people and paying to spend 15 minutes or so petting lemurs. Very friendly staff and such a great time! Will definitely be back!

Had the best time here with my grandsons. I expected much less from the parking lot, but the inside is amazing!! So many animals to interact with and learn about. There are many activities for kids, it’s a very educational and family friendly environment. I was very impressed by this aquarium. I will definitely be back.
Allie Hughes — Google review
I liked it. It was so cool there. I love seeing all the animals there. The only down side is that it costs too much for the tokens to interact with some of the animals and to get in cost too much. For two adults and one child cost 129 Probably won't be going back.

My wife decided to getaway for the weekend and Austin Aquarium was on our list to hit. It did not disappoint! Well organized and you feed the animals. Very friendly environment and the animals are great.

Had an amazing time here! It's smaller than other aquariums, but much more interactive. There is a huge selection of animal/sea life from all over that you can actually interact with. They sell tokens in addition to the admission price that are used for animal interactions such as feeding the stingrays and birds, getting balloon animals and going into the animal exhibits. They have a small cafe with drinks and snacks. Parking is free and you can be in and out in a little over an hour. It was a great experience and we'll be back!

They have so many in person experiences!!! A must visit for kids! Feeding the fish, sting ray and other marine life was so much fun!
There is a room for sitting with the parakeets and feeding them from your hand. They have interactive experience with lemurs, kangaroos, sloths and penguins!!! If you can't do it all, at least do some and it'll be so worth it!!!

I brought my one year old here with no expectations and I was blown away! It was very interactive! I love the feeding token idea! Coming into the cages where birds were flying and Iguanas were was just great! My one year old loved the different birds. Definitely will be returning here

My family really liked this aquarium! It is a little bit smaller than we were expecting but this is also the most interactive aquarium we have ever been too. The aquarium itself is in an old store and the GPS was able to guide us easily. I would have liked for it to be a little easier to find an employee to help us with the exhibits that require us to find an employee to interact. They all seemed so busy that I felt like if I had asked something of them, I would have been a burden. So I didn't ask for help with those exhibits even though I really wanted to interact with the toucans.. I realize that they have things to do and animals that need care but maybe have just one person talk to us or ask us if we would like help with any of the exhibits. All in all though it was fun for the kids and made a good day.

One of the only aquariums that allow you to touch and interact with the animals. Kids loved it. Not super big but enough of a variety for the kids to see. Some of the interactions costs too much and didn’t find the worth in doing it.

Absolutely incredible place to visit! Many interaction opportunities, the staff are all well educated and very friendly! Our favorite moment of the day was getting to hang out with Brandi and Sid the Sloth! They were both amazing and really made the visit special! Disappointingly quite a small facility and attraction. Costly for what it is. Located at the end of a strip shopping center. It got crowded fairly quickly on a Saturday upon opening. Fun and engaging for younger children. They can feed the animals, birds, fish and enter certain exhibits for tokens. They have a talented caricature artist for a selfie cartoon portrait at 6 tokens for color. Don’t expect to spend all day here, it just isn’t a big enough attraction.

This aquarium might be small, but boy is it mighty. We did about 3 laps around the building. We payed for some tokens, but too many tokens gets pricey QUICK. We loved getting to see all the different lemurs, and getting to pet and feed the penguins. Overall it’s a great interactive aquarium/zoo. You can get up close and personal with every single animal in the building. My little one loved that!!

This place has been steadily getting better over time. Has some nice salt water aquariums and lots of opportunity for kids to interact with the animals. The gift store has some good options for kids. There is a snack bar but I’d suggest you have alternate plans. It’s about a 1 hour visit.

This is a fun little place to have an outing with your kids, or even just to enjoy with a significant other. There are plenty of aquarium displays, but there are more bird and mammal displays that are interactive and really good for the critters and the customers. I would recommend it to anyone...budget an hour or so and you'll be able to really enjoy the whole place.

Had a wonderful time at the Austin Aquarium with my family. There's so much to do in there, whether it's feeding the fish, touching the birds, or petting the lemurs. It's a great outing with the family. The prices wouldn't be so bad if the tokens weren't so expensive 🤯. That is really the one downfall for me was how expensive those tokens were. Be smart and save your tokens for next time if you don't use them all! 💯

I would recommend austin aquarium to anyone visiting the area! It is Small but that's what makes it so great! The amount of love, care, and knowledge of all the animals by all of the staff was so impressive. The encounters will give you lasting memories and you learn so much! Ryan went over and beyond throughout our entire visit to make our visit an awesome experience! We ended our visit with a visit with Ryan and Sid the sloth. Ryan's knowledge, passion, and love for Sid is nothing but amazing and heart warming. It is hard to find a place that 3 college age kids all enjoy but this place was the place and they knocked it out of the park! We will definitely be back!

I highly recommend checking this place out!My best friend and I went right when they opened and I was blown away with how much I learned from the staff. Brandi, Tim and Ryan were exceptionally knowledgeable about all the animals and it was obvious their staff is very passionate about what they do. I can't wait to bring my boys here to have the same wonderful experience I had. FYI, if you have a cat you won't be able to visit with the lemurs and wallabies!

The aquarium is small, but there are a variety of exhibits to enjoy. For kids, there are many opportunities to have "encounters" with animals, learning about and interacting with certain animals under the supervision of the staff. We have a membership and like to pop in every so often for a leisurely hour or two.
Underground expanse highlighted by natural rock formations, with guided tours & ranger programs.
Cheyenne did a great job. Stopped by for a quick getaway while visiting the area. Made reservations the day before, but there seemed to be plenty of availability since the tours run every 15 minutes. Luckily we had a small group of only 11, so it felt more personable and interactive. Saw another group that only had 3 guests while others had closer to 20, so it's just luck on how many people pick the same time you do.
Tour was a lot of fun and a nice break in the natural 70 degrees in the caverns. Tour lasted about 90 minutes, but you never felt rushed at any of the stopping points. Cheyenne was very friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job answering all the questions. It was interesting learning about the history of the cave and science behind it. I am considering coming back for the Wild Tour on a later date.

I can only rate this place on the buildings and trails. Admission to the trails and buildings is free. The cave tours are what you have to pay for, which I did not. The historical buildings were neat, especially the one with the observation deck. Two winding spiral staircases. Trails are all very short (0.5 mile or less), but there were a few of them, so all in all, I got in about 2 miles total. Nicely marked and clean trails. I may come back in the future for the cave tour, but other than that, I probably wouldn’t. Clean restrooms inside the main building as well. Nice little stop overall but glad I didn’t pay for admission.

Absolutely enjoyed our tour with Steve. He had the best dad jokes 😅
The cave is so gorgeous that even pictures couldn't do it justice. All I can say is you have to go there to fully enjoy this beautiful work of art by nature.
Con: They didn't say we could have our own water bottle. The rule was geared more towards not taking any liquid but water, which the sign said you could get in the store. As opposed to just saying, only water allowed. I can understand that they need to make sure it's water so they could have suggested (on all their platform) that only water in clear bottles are allowed.
Other than that, our group of 6 enjoyed our tour and views.
A must-see!

We needed to get out of the heat and the caverns were recommended. We enjoyed our tour with the best tour guide Jim! He was so knowledgeable about the history of the caves and kept us laughing the whole time! The caves are pretty “young” in their formation but Jim pointed out all of the cool current features, especially the bats! It is worth the money to go here.

I had the chance to tour 6 caverns in TX this weekend. They were all beautiful and quite impressive. But without doubt Longhorn Cavern was my favorite.💓
The drive to the actual cavern is about 5 miles or so off the main highway (US281), but the road is paved and a blast to drive on with it's many turns and dips. There is some wildlife that can be seen (deer, squirrels) but no shoulder to park on if wanting to take pics. It's pretty much a straight drive to the cave.🚗
Once at the cavern there is a huge gift shop as well as a snack shop, clean restrooms and a small theater showing reels of the cavern. The entrance fee was around $25 and they have a military discount for active, veteran or retired.👍💵
The cavern itself is AMAZING. It's huge in some areas as well as having narrow passages. There are a few low spots where crouching down is a must as well as areas that are pretty claustrophobic.....for me anyways. There is also an observation tower a few yards from the cavern where you can see for miles from the top as well as trails to venture on.
Our tour guide (Jim) was not only knowledgeable on the entire cavern but gave a great presentation throughput the entire tour. He interacted great with children and answered each and every question. One can tell he really enjoys his job. Be sure to ask for him as your guide.👍

Absolutely awesome cave. Our tour guide was Michaela and she was fantastic and full of energy! The tour was long and informative, very much worth the $20 for the standard cavern tour. Will definitely come back for the wild cave tour!
Also, nice place to relax on a hot summer day. The cave temperature is about 70 degrees year-round.

I visited here on 11/24/23 for the 91st birthday event (advertised as a Texas State Park 100 year event on the website!) This park is awesome! I chose to do the walking cave tour and it was amazing.
Our guide, Francis, aka Frankie, was very knowledgeable and landed some very well timed puns! She had the group laughing and having a great time.
We all got a chance to take pictures of the "chicken nugget" bats (they are similar in size to a nugget... actually named tricolored bats) while on the tour as well as other photo opportunities in front of really cool spots, like the lowest point of the tour at the end, which is 130 feet underground!
The park itself is pretty and I made sure to check out the observation tower, and nature trails and they did not disappoint.
Since Longhorn Cavern SP does not offer camping, I made reservations to stay the night at Inks Lake SP, which is only a ten minute drive from here!

My friend and I visited this cavern because I was taken away at the posts from other visitors; I just HAD to see it in person, too.
This is an incredible cave with some really cool features and history!
Debbie was our tour guide, and she was very enthusiastic and informative about the cave. I am VERY HAPPY that we had her and not the other two guides we eventually caught up with. The other two guides (a younger female and younger male) just didn't have the same SPUNK and BIG ENERGY as Debbie did.
THIS IS DEFINITELY A MUST-DO.
MAKE SURE YOU MAKE THE TIMES OFFERED BY CHECKING THE WEBSITE, FIRST. WE went to the 10 o'clock tour. It took about an hour and thirty minutes...and that time went fast!
There were not many bats...
The ones we did see were very, very small.

This place is a nice little gem near lake Ink. It’s kind of pricey, as follows the price of maintaining a cave system etc. but we’ll worth the visit. We had a guide take us through and explain details about the history of the cavern. Very interesting stuff. They have a nice gift shop with clean bathrooms. I’d recommend to anyone in the area looking for something to do.

Loved it wasn't the best I've ever been too but it was definitely worth seeing. I would recommend that if you're in the area and got an hour and a half to take the tour to go for it. It's a little over a mile hike but it was an easy mile we had our 11 month old baby and we enjoyed it as well did she. Very interesting history behind the cavern itself, so if you're into the history and back story to the caves existence and use throughout history the guide was very informative and likeable...spend the money and enjoy the leisurely stroll...

I had a great time exploring Longhorn Caverns with Jamie and my group. The cavern was so amazing to see. Our guide knew all all the history of the cave and shared so much with all of us. I am so happy that I took the time to do this while visiting Texas. I was not at all disappointed. There were no tight spaces or terribly small places to walk through so if you are hesitant, don't be. It was really cool! A must in my opinion.

What a wonderful place! We loved taking a guided tour through cave and learning about the history of Longhorn Cavern. The tour was informative and friendly to people of varying mobility (though there are stairs to get down to the cavern and there are additional steps once you are in the cavern). The tour we took spanned an hour and a half and about 1 mile of walking. We loved it and highly recommend visiting Longhorn Cavern.

A great place for families with kids, or just adults. Highly recommend.
Even just seeing the buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (free) is interesting and would be a nice short side stop on a road trip.
We took the cavern tour with two teens. There were also two families with younger children in our group, and Jim, our guide, made things interesting for all ages.
(I can't speak to the other guides but Jim was fantastic -- knowledgeable, entertaining, enlightening.)
I've been to other caves including Carlsbad Caverns and Timpanogos Cave (multiple times for each). Each has its unique features. Longhorn Cavern doesn't have the giant cave formations, but I think it's just as enjoyable in its own way. It does have some formations, unique (beautiful) natural features, very interesting history, and adorably tiny bats. (The bats don't move or fly at you or anything like that, but you see them.)
Thanks to Jim and the rest of the staff who made our visit fun and interesting. We're looking forward to coming back with family members.

Nice cool tour of the caverns. The cavern is in its early stages of formation but don’t let that stop you from visiting. Took the grandkids and they had a blast. We were able to see about six or seven bats sleeping. They were very close and the tour guide did an excellent service and was very knowledgeable of the cave system. I would highly recommend the visit especially how hot is is in central Texas right now.

The tour guy we had was really informative, funny and great with all our daughter's questions. Was really cool because he said his grandfather was a part of CCC that helped work on the cave years ago. All the old buildings are really neat to see and the view from the observation deck is beautiful, can see the castle from it. There's quiet a few trails also available to hike around the area. It's definitely worth the trip to see!

We loved the place. It has a very interesting history. We saw tiny bats in the cavern. The guide was very elaborate and explained all the artifacts really well. The entire area is nice and there options for hiking. The sunsets are beautiful. There are lakes where water sports can be enjoyed.

Fantastic walking tour with Debbie. She was engaging, informative and patient with the kidos. She was very kind and inclusive. The caves are really cool! Lighting and grade are accessible for those without balance problems. Some half-squats required under smaller 4”10 areas of the cave. It was cool near 60 at the entrance and fairly hot near the bottom. Good to bring water. Good to dress in layers. The Dolomite and other rock structures are cool to see. Little chicken-nugget bats around, cool to get up close to. Great experience! Will go back with kids and family in the future.

Enjoyed the tour. Jim was great. We had our 3 kids and he kept them engaged. Great dad jokes and kept it lively. Be sure you ask for Jim (aka Joe)!
We paid extra for the package with the gemstones. The kids enjoyed it and got some pretty cool rocks to take home. It was simple, straightforward and not too messy.

Visited the caverns today with Debbie leading the way as our tour guides. We loved every second of it the little baby bats were so cute and it was the perfect 1 mile hike experience for a date. Today is my one year anniversary with my lady and she was very happy! Overall it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend visiting here.

Had a great tour guide ,. Was so informative for the adults and got the children in the group involved. Cave tour was really beautiful with lots of different formations, bats and a plethora of crystals. Not a difficult tour, kids can easily do it a few sections where you had to bend over a bit but nothing too strenuous.

Wonderful outing with fascinating information on the natural world, gorgeous sights both big and small, and incredible history that I didn’t expect. Can’t stress the history part enough, but don’t want to give any spoilers.
Not to mention, Jim was an incredible guide. Super nice guy with the right amount of dad humor and a wealth of knowledge on the cavern. I’ll definitely ask for him in advance when I hopefully go back.

We loved our guided tour of Longhorn Cavern. We brought our kids (10 and under) and they loved it and were engaged the whole time. Our tour guide Nikki was so much fun, and taught us so much about the cave and all of the different stories.

Mind blowing walking along and then you turn down these stairs to a whole other world. Lots of stairs, low hanging rocks and uneven terrain but they didn't build it like that - they are just preserving it. Go here the stories and enjoy the 72 degrees.

We felt incredibly fortunate to witness the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, at this stunning park. The park's serene atmosphere and well-maintained facilities made for a truly unforgettable experience. The staff provided excellent services, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit for all. I would highly recommend this park to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, look no further than Lake Travis Zipline Adventures. Their lines are some of the longest and fastest in the state, making it the perfect place to experience Austin's natural beauty from a new perspective.
Our first time zip-lining and it was a blast!! Sarah and Nathan were fantastic guides/instructors. Be prepared to HIKE up and wear the right shoes. You go through a total of 5 lines, each higher up and for longer. I appreciated everything - clean bathrooms, able to lock valuables, water bottles provided throughout, wonderful trip on the boat. And most of all, I felt completely safe the entire time with amazing views of Lake Travis. You won't regret it.

My 14-year-old son and I had a great time. Our guides, Tristan N. and Austin L. were amazing. There were a few people in our group who were noticeably nervous around heights, and our guides both did a great job of putting them at ease. They are funny, knowledgeable, outgoing, intelligent, and helpful. They both deserve a big raise!
As for the course itself, it was fun, and the hikes are not really all that challenging. The views are great and the trails are well maintained. Just where some comfortable running shoes or hiking boots, and drink plenty of water, which is provided at various points along the course.
If your kids are within the weight limits, I highly recommend Lake Travis Zipline Adventures. They’ll have a blast and maybe even get a confidence boost as well! Don’t forget to bring some extra cash to tip your guides. These kids work their tails off and I can’t say enough about their positive attitudes and professionalism.
We definitely plan to come back soon for the night flight course.

This was an amazing experience. I’ve done a lot of guided zip line tours and while the zips themselves aren’t much of anything special, the tour guides make this worth it! Don’t get me wrong, the zips are awesome and long, but in the end, it’s just a zip. The tour guides though? Incredible! I had J and Austin. They worked together very well and had fun stories, sayings, were humorous and just a general joy to spend 3 hours if my day with. Thanks for a great time!

Brian and Miriam were incredible guides! Had a lot of fun with them. My boyfriend and myself went for our 2nd year anniversary, and we had so much fun. From the pontoon ride across the lake, to the half-mile long zipline at the end, it was amazing! My boyfriend made sure to have me say "Brian's thighs were the real highlight here."
Thank you guys for the amazing day!

Very fun experience. Even with the overcast weather, the views were beautiful and the hikes between lines were fun. Our guides Lucy and Orion were energetic and kept the whole tour exciting. Bring comfortable shoes as you'll be hiking between lines, but they're short hikes no more than 15 minutes. Highly recommend a trip up to Lake Travis just to Zipline.

It was 105 degrees and although there was grueling uphill hiking, it was well worth it. The instructors guided the group at a good pace and assured we stayed well hydrated throughout the entire course. Miriam was especially helpful to me when I fell behind the group on the last and longest trail. Joseph motivated everyone that was nervous. He posed in several positions on the wires for us to take pictures. The views from the top were amazing. It was a high adrenaline adventure that has to be experienced at least once. Me at 66 years of age, highly recommend Zipline Lake Travis.

We went ziplining on one of our honeymoon activities here at Lake Travis Zipline Adventures. Our tour guides were Austin and Miriam. They were a fun duo. My new wife has always been deathly afraid of heights. But Austin's humor and Miriam's assist to that humor kept her fear at bay and focused on the fun. They were safe and professional at the same time fun and witty. These two deserve a raise. Thanks Austin and Miriam for a great day on our honeymoon. You made great memories for us.

Fantastic time! Beautiful views, especially around sunset. Nice deck at the end to grab a drink and unwind a little after you're done. There's some hiking involved, but the good news is that "what hikes up gets to zip down!" O'Ryan and Andrew were our guides and they did a great job for our group.

Casey and Eric were great tour guides, they did a great job at getting everyone comfortable! The boat ride was to and from the zip lining which was beautiful being able to see the water. The hike was challenging yet fun! The zip lining was the best part with a beautiful view over lake Travis over the water and the nature. All throughout the tours they take pictures that you can take with you and purchase at the end :)

Okay so first off everything is so cool, pretty views, super fast zip lines with awesome views. It’s a hike though! I am definitely out of shape. The first few not too bad, the last 2 for myself were brutal but with that being said I am different! But our tour guides were awesome! We had Trenton who is very clever and witty and we had McKenna. I got super dehydrated, and she was the absolute best. She even carried my gear because I was shaking so bad. She CARES so much. It was such a great experience and I do recommend going. But again, McKenna is the best..she made me feel so comfortable and never once hesitated with anything. She was the real MVP of my trip so I thank her for that!

We went in March for a sunset zip, but sadly it was cloudy the entire time. We still enjoyed it. After you get your gear on, you walk down to a boat and head just across a small section of the lake to start hiking up to the first zip. Wear comfortable close toe shoes and just know there is hiking up involved. Some got winded and needed a break on one section, but it was well worth it! If you do the sunset slot you start in day light and end in the dark. So much fun. We all enjoyed it!! Great for all ages (75-250lb weight limit).

We went on a Friday we had the 11 AM Slot. I was very Thankful that the weather held out on what was supposed to be a crappy rainy day. Be sure to eat before you go because there is really no where once on site to get food. Our guides were McKenna & Conner we had a group of 12. They were very professional & kind the entire time. They were very clear on the instructions for the safety of the group. We are not hikers and were able to do the trails and hikes just fine with some rest breaks in between. wear comfortable shoes for sure, even though McKenna did the whole thing in Crocks LOL. Water is provided at each resting point/zipline. Lots of opportunities for great pictures, the guides as well take photos you can purchase at the end. The last Zipline lands at a very basic snack bar/bar. With beer available for purchase. We would 100 % do this again hopefully when the lake has more water in it. The water level so sadly very low.

Forested park & campground with 32 natural springs, swimming holes, waterfalls, pool, trails & more.
I always meant to come review after the whirlwind of planning for our wedding. Finally doing it. This is a breathtaking, family friendly location. The owners welcomed myself, photographer/ hairdresser, and sister for my bridal pictures. They allowed me to use an air-conditioned room set up with family portraits and heirlooms in which to get ready, without us even asking. A wonderful day and gorgeous landscape of the waterfall and gardens.

To say I had garden envy is a complete understatement. Everything here looked so lush and vibrant. The staff tending to the plants were super friendly and willing to share knowledge on the plants and property. Everything is very well kept and you can tell the staff take huge pride over their facility. My husband and 5 year old are avid spring swimmers and jumped right in. Rope swing was a hit. My 16yr old and myself enjoyed sunning on the surrounding rocks and watching the wildlife. The pool was gorgeous and it was so cool to watch the water flow into the pool, out again, down the water fall and into the spring pool. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone thinking of visiting.

Great private camping site, inside a ranch, with access to a pool where 20+ natural springs converge and spill down to a swimming hole in the creek below.
The swimming hole is over 6 ft deep in some areas and even has a small cave and swing rope.
There are not as many restrictions on where to set your tent or your fire pit, as in a regular public park.
There is water and electricity at the 24 RV spots with picnic tables and grills ( on the top level), but not at the more primitive tents sites which are spread out on the 2nd and 1st levels in elevation.
The 3 restrooms are clean, but no hot water in the showers.
No dogs or glass containers allowed.

Beautiful spot for a refreshing day trip or camping. Both natural and more manicured areas to enjoy. My husband and I went on Labor Day, and it wasn't too crowded in the morning, but the place definitely got busier after lunch. Water was cool and clean (though a bit murky in the main pool just from getting stirred up by swimmers). Recommend arriving early to avoid the biggest crowds!

From the moment we stepped foot in Krause Springs we were amazed by the beauty of its garden-a true oasis. The true jewel was the spring itself. Though not as expansive as we initially thought it would be its remarkable beauty made up for it. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the hustle of your daily life and reconnect with nature! Krause Springs is a must visit for anyone seeking a peaceful escape.

If you want a truly quiet and relaxing time camping and rving this place is the best bang for your buck with the springs near by.
The facilities were nice (rv area) and the lawns were kept maintained.
You can bring your mountain bikes and ride along the rocks and have a good time or go near by to Pedernales state park.
My only complaint is that Gates close at 8pm and I’m young and like to go see night life especially if there are strict rules already about quiet hours. I think this could be managed better for paying customers, in addition to better reservation point of sale. The park has a website but cannot reserve which is a crutch especially when Terri does not trust the mail so if you’re traveling far you’re really banking on first come first serve.
We came days before it is closed for the season and it was beautiful weather for tent camping and fire

What's not to love! We went on memorial day weekend so of course it was busy but still very enjoyable! We camped for 2 nights and loved it all! I would recommend water shoes, there's rocks, tree roots and lots of mud on the bottom. The waterfall is beyond beautiful and there's a cave right behind it you can go in. The rope swing is really cool and don't forget to jump off the ledge into the water, it's exilerating. We can't wait to be back!

This place was an incredible idea and our family had tons of fun. I’m knocking 2 stars off because the water was very murky (which I know is not the parks fault, but it could help others. It felt pretty gross). We stayed in the natural pool 90% of the time, which was freezing. I removed another star because the person at the front was very rude when I asked an honest question. Nice employees would make for a better experience. Also, the bathrooms were very dirty. One bathroom didn’t even have a stall door.

I couldn’t find many reviews or pics of the RV hookups so this is dedicated to the 24 they have. Not on pads but many well shaded under legacy trees. Easy access to the pools but tucked away in the back of the property. Grills and fire pits at each with steel picnic tables. VERY well maintained. Short walk to to toilet/showers.
30 and 50 amp hooks with the usual 110 outlets. Solid and worked great. Water has good pressure and tastes great.
Hookups are in far back of each spot so bring extensions; my 50 foot hose JUST made my connections at the front of our rig.
Also know the sites are pretty tight to each other. Fine on a quiet weekday but might be a little close for your tastes on weekends.
Overall a beautiful camp, especially this close to ATX.

I saw a tic toc video about this place at 10pm on a Friday night. I book a RV space right then on the spot and woke up the next morning and drove down from Dallas. I have a 25 ft Regency Coach (small C class RV size) that I was able to enter the property with ease. If you have a 45 ft A class it will be tight. There are not a ton of spaces maybe 24 in total is my guess. And they’re all grass pads with electric and water hook up only. The sewer dump in next to the public restroom and there will be a line if you’re not an early riser. Was it worth it, yes. The cost for a space was reasonable. The ride down from Dallas was priceless during the spring bluebonnet season!!!! The hills and winding roads or so picturesque it’s unreal. Crossing over the Colorado River at Lake Marble Falls was heavenly. I didn’t have time to stop there but I’m going back for Marble Falls. Now back to the campsite. It is a privately owned property and decently kept. A little too tall grass under one of the fifth wheels next to me. That makes me nervous about what’s crawling at the foot of my steps when coming and going. There was no trash in the grounds it was very clean for a semi full park. More dry tent campers than RVs. The best experiences included THE AMAZING HUDGE FIVE FOOT WIND CHIMES hanging in the trees in a garden near the entry. It created the most amazing sound garden experience I’ve ever had. I am master gardener and I’m investing in buying these for my home today! The water falls, ponds and trees are heaven!!! It’s worth at least one night. I don’t see me staying there for days at a time but that’s just me. A wanderer. Only 4 stars because of grass pads and no full hookups for RV. The staff was nice and if I could rate the beauty of the nature likes and falls I’d give it a FIVE separately.

The Austin Zoo is a nonprofit rescue zoo that provides refuge for animals that have been rescued from less than ideal circumstances. The zoo boasts a variety of exotic and domestic animals, many of which are available for hand-feeding at the gift shop. Your family will enjoy a day out at this zoo, which relies heavily on public donations to continue operation.
This has been one of the best sanctuary’s I’ve visited in Awhile. Our experience was amazing. We went on a cool Monday and most to all the animals we out for the public to see. All the big cats have Relatively large enclosures and all seem to be healthy. One of our favorite parts was when we got to see some of their caring staff members assist the zoos fox’s in painting with their little paws. The foxes were very excited and seemed to loved it. You and then purchase their artwork in the gift show. 10/10 experience. Will be back

Nice place to visit for a quick zoo trip. It's easy to walk around and see all the animals in a couple of hours. It's not a huge zoo. I think the cost of admission is a little high for what the zoo offers. If you've been to bigger zoos like the one in San Antonio, this is not the same at all. These animals are all rescue animals, which is pretty neat. There are beautiful peacocks walking around all the time.
Olla Al-Shalchi — Google review
This was a great experience.. when we first got there it must have been nap time because not one animal was awake that we could see so we just walked around and took in the scenery and by the time we got to a point where we had to turn around everybody was awake . And we figured out that it was now feeding time... Very cool to watch the animals come out of their slumber to let the humans know it's time to eat! All the enclosures were large and clean with plenty of stimulation for the animals so that was great to see...
They also have plaques or signs on most of the enclosures with a backstory as to how the animal ended up there, if there was a story to be told. All in all a very good experience and super affordable.

Had my daughters birthday here and it was worth every bit of the money! We rented the peacock pavilion, pre purchased feed bags for the kids to feed the livestock and opted to add on the "animal experience" where a staff member came over with a box turtle, a tarantula and a ball python to teach the kids about them. I recommend coming early when the feedings are going on as the animals are way more active and the temperature is nice. We love it!
Jennifer Alden — Google review
The kids will have fun. The peacocks are definitely the stars of the show as many of them have escaped their enclosure and have no fear of visitors. As others have said, this isn't one of those manicured zoos with wide open fields where you struggle to see the animal hiding in the back because they're asleep in the shade during the heat of the day. This is a zoo with many smaller cages and pens, close together to minimize walking in the Texas heat; and you spend far less time trying to spot a cool animal as they are often 2 feet in front of you. They have plenty of exotic animals (Monkeys, Big Cats, Zebras, Alpacas, Capybaras, Ostriches, Lemurs, Enormous Tortises) and just as many Texas staples (Wolves, foxes, longhorns, groundhogs, Goats, wild boar, and even a cute Armadillo), My 4 and 9-year-old were able to walk the whole thing and ride the train in about 1.5 hours. We're from the north, so I'm glad I packed bottles of water for a hot July day. The reptile house was one of the few air conditioned places besides the gift shop. I would've given this place 5 stars if the bathrooms had AC and the train ride had been a bit longer. There's a lot of potential here too and I hope they refurb the pirate ship we spotted as they're renovating. It was about $53 to gain entry with 2 adults and 2 children. The train was an additional $20 plus tax. There were a number of feeding/close encounter opportunities available for $25 that we passed on. If you forget your own drinks/snacks, they will happily charge $3.5 to $5 apiece when you get to the ice cream stand at the train; luckily, we brought our own.

The zoo was decent. Aside from a few animals, it was less unique and more like a trip to the farm. Definitely recommend for 5+. My 2 and 3 yo's didn't really have the best of time. There are free roaming peacocks, and while they are gorgeous and definitely a novelty attraction, the staff will tell you to keep 5+ ft from them as they can get aggressive. But it's mildly difficult to enjoy the park when you're worried about your toddler possibly being attacked by one, and even more so when they block the pathway and you have to forgo a whole section of the park. I applaud their efforts for conservation, but we likely won't be going back unless they add a "must-see" attraction. CoA should definitely invest and help as a zoo is a massive attraction for parents and kids and gives the city another adventure/attraction.

This is a really nice private zoo. It is not a large zoo, but much better than some large zoos around the country. If you live in the area or just visiting, be sure to check out this hidden jet. They have a nice variety of animals. Be sure to take the time to do the train, it's well worth the money. If coming during the warmer months go first thing in the morning. All the zoo keepers and employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. You don't have to go with kids to enjoy. I'll definitely be back for more visits!!

It is a small place. Do not think traditional zoo when you drive out here. Manage your expectations.
That said, where else can you walk right up to a Galapagos turtle? Be super close to Lions and tigers and bears, oh my? But still safe, of course. There were zookeepers all around, who were all happy to answer questions. Everyone was actively cleaning the park. We had a really fantastic time.

It's a small zoo but worth the trip. I recommend going once a little warmer. We went when it's a bit cold so some of the animals weren't out. But we still had a good time and I honestly like the outdoor feel. It's a lovely place and a great time for the family. It felt more natural for the animals.
Edit: Also just wanna say going during winter is very worth it!!! It's still a great place to go :) lovely.

It's a cute little zoo and a good price to spend an hour or two. There's a petting area in the center of the zoo, you can feed some of the animals for a small fee for the food. Really nice gift shop and lots of little areas to sit and eat lunch. You can also ride the train for $5.00.

Our first trip to the Austin Zoo! It wasn't too crowded, even on solar eclipse day. There were plenty of animals to see, all of them being rescues. My kids loved the tortoises, feeding the goats and the train ride was cute! Peacocks roam free which the kids thought were fantastic.
It is a small zoo. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes because there is no pavement, just gravel/dirt paths around with some pretty steep inclines. Be sure to pack snacks/lunch/drinks for the large picnic area, but not many amenities.

My wife and I visited this zoo and really enjoyed it. There were many animals, reptiles and birds to see. It was great to see some that I have never seen in a zoo or anywhere else. The cages and living spaces were all pretty clean and natural for each species.
If you enjoy a trip to the zoo, this is a great place to visit.

We love this zoo! The Austin Zoo is very unique and special. It's not your typical zoo so don't expect that. EVERY animal there has been rescued and is being nurtured. EVERY animal has a story! Go and see for yourself!
Keoni Subiono — Google review
It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the animals that you want to see while walking through Austin Zoo; they have almost any that you can think of. The further along I walked, the more pleasantly surprised I found myself and with cherished memories. I love to see these beautiful animals relaxing in their enclosure stress-free and usually with companions, as well as the quirky birds that roamed the premises unbotheredly. There’s a donation box for every habitat as well, so please bring extra cash if you want to donate to any particular animal(s).
I’d only note that if you’re an adult animal lover like myself and not a parent, maybe be prepared for a lot of excited and sometimes noisy kids around you. This didn’t bother me personally, but I know that it may be difficult for some.
Very friendly staff as well and clear directions on signs no matter where you find yourself within the zoo. Also, a surprisingly reasonably-priced gift shop! I love this place and their mission : )

What an experience! We live in Iowa but on a recent trip to Texas decided to take a detour through Austin. My son is absolutely obsessed with capybaras and I found out that the Austin zoo has a meet and greet capybara exhibit. It's booked out somewhat in advance as they only offer this 3 times per week with a max of 3 visitors per time. There was a fee for the meet and greet that was in addition to the zoo entry fee. All completely worth it. We got to spend about 35 minutes with the three capybaras Olivia, Diego, and Enrique, while the zoo educator Emily told us all about capybaras in general and the three Austin zoo ones in particular. We got to feed them veggies and fruits. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the rest of the zoo as well.

I went with my daughter's family to visit the Austin Zoo on Sat, Nov 25, 2023. The weather was perfect for a comfortable fall visit. None of us had visited before.
My daughter's family just moved to Austin in August. My grandkids are ages 3 and 8. They had so much fun! We saw all of the animals and talked with the kids about how ppl wanted these as pets but couldn't keep up with the responsibilities. We rode the little train, which was thrilling for the kids and informative for all.
The grounds were well-kept, and the animals seemed happy and healthy. Well, I'm not really sure what a happy snake looks like! I am pleased to see that many of the animals and their care are sponsored by people and businesses. I did not mind the $85 entry fee for 3 adults and 2 children. The train cost was $35 for 5 ppl.

A scenic natural swimming pool in a canyon below a 50-ft waterfall, surrounded by a grotto.
Went here a few years ago, and man it was stunning. Absolutely breathtaking. The waterfall, the clear blue water, and amazing view. I know we just went thru a historic drought so I don’t know how it looks now, but hopefully it’s still nice. Reservations need to be made online for like $12 for cars but you have to do it MONTHS in advance so please know that. Then at the entrance it’s $8 per person cash only. Be warned. Sad that it’s like that but it makes sense with how popular it is. I’m sure it would be chaotic otherwise. If you’re able to go, please do!

Reservations are needed and an additional payment once in the park per a person. Only cash in person. Beautiful. Nice hike. The hike itself is short and easy-medium. Nice park staff and clean park area. Bathrooms were closed but they did have portable bathrooms (I did not use them).

No permit to go on the trail inside the cave. You can stay just in front of the cave. In the past was allowed.
Take care with snakes. We saw a poison one. Omg!!. It's usual on the trail. Specially close the pool. So, several rules to entry and you can go inside the cave. I don't recommend it so much.

Heads up. The path underneath the cliff overhang is closed. Nonetheless a beautiful natural area. We mostly hiked towards the river. About an hour there and back.
Natasha Blackmore — Google review
Wonderful short hike to the pool but don't attempt if you are unsteady on your feet and by all means bring a walking stick. The water was low and had some bacteria so we were told not to touch it. Unfortunately the path that goes in back of the falls is closed due to falling rocks. I would definitely try this walk again in a different season. You need to book your reservation in advance, cost $12. Pay daily per person rate at entrance, bring cash. Super cheap senior rate of $3.

Its a very pretty natural pool with clear blue water. Reservation is required to visit this place which is $12 per car. Apart from that, we need to be paying $8 fee per person for entry at the preserve entrance.
It was a short hike of 15-20 mins to the pool. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed in the pool due to fallen rocks and bacteria. Apart from that, you can take another long hike which will lead to the river.
But, we felt like entry was pricier for this place. It can be made lesser since swimming & walking around the pool is restricted now.
But, the water was definitely beautiful. Check the picture.

I am sad to leave this review, but we were extremely disappointed by Hamilton Pool Preserve. We visited from out of state on 5/29/23 with reservations. The pool was closed to swimming and rightfully so, because it looked like a dirty pond, nothing like the pictures I had seen. There is no waterfall whatsoever. The hiking pathway that goes around the perimeter of the pool is closed with no apparent plans for repair. I would recommend against stopping here in summer
Ellie McGriff — Google review
Good place , trek is easy. Pool wasn't open for swim. Entry fee to be paid in cash as they don't accept cards, probably because no network service in the area.
Overall, good place to connect with nature.

Great place to stop for a few hours and explore. The hike down to the pool is pretty steep, so be aware. You have to have a reservation to get in. There are porta-potties at the parking lot and down by the pool, but no running water! Also, take cash there’s an $8/per person charge at the gate that they don’t tell you about.
Susan Knapp — Google review
So much fun! Reservations required! Bring cash, you’ll pay the ranger at the gate. Short but steep walk down to the pool, do your best to pack light. Toddlers will likely need to be carried some on the way down, more on the way back up to the parking lot.

I never took the chance to go when I lived in Austin. I just had to see it! Reservations are a hassle...and of course when I went the bacteria levels were not good. I should have known that was a risk early in the season with water levels being low but I was there at the end of May and just had to go. Anyways, because of the water levels the waterfall wasn't as powerful. Since I moved they stopped allowing people to walk under the falls as well due to the chance of rocks falling. The amount of 'beach' area is not very big but bring a float when you are allowed to swim and just relax the whole time in the water! One thing I really enjoyed was getting to take photos of an empty pool area. I would have never been able to get shots without a ton of people in them if it hadn't been a day when people weren't allowed to swim. Just hope one day I get something better than a $60 phone to capture the beauty. Nothing will ever compete with going and exploring these places yourself though.

After a long time being in Austin, I finally visited this place. It was beautiful. The water is very pretty and there were some fishes swimming close to the shore that was a good sight to look at. The grotto area hike and swimming is closed as of now. But there was hike to the river which was a good workout. The beach near the river is nice and the water is shallow and clear. Overall a good visit.
Vijaylakshmi Rana — Google review
It is a short hike to the pool. View of the pool is very beautiful. It is quite relaxing to just hang out there. Unfortunatly, at the moment walking behind the pool and swimming are not allowed due to the risk of rocks falling. But it is still a great day activity. Landscape is stunning. The color of the water is very impressive. I highly recommend a visit. And don't stay just in the pool, it is also worth walking to the other side where you will have a 0.75 mile hike by the creek to get to the river. The walk is also great and with wonderful views of the creek. You can also find fish swimming at the creek. At the river, you can swim. The only negative point about it is the price. Apart from a 8 dollars fee per person to be paid in cash when you get there, there is a 12 dollars fee to make the reservation (I guess for the car parking). A bit pricey in my opinion. Specially because you cannot stay the entire day there. You get either the morning ticket (from 8:30am to 12:30pm) or the afternoon ticket (from 1:30pm to 5:30pm).

My daughter and I loved this park. Her favorite to date! We spent a couple of hours as it was getting dark soon and we’re already planning our next trip and making sure we have at least half a day to truly enjoy it. So much to see and it’s beautiful! The park personnel was also friendly and just great! Hill country must see.

Perfect for the family! There hasn't been much rain lately, so the falls were pretty dry. Also, the Blue-Green Algae was abundant and you couldn't get in the water. However, it was still a lovely site to see. Nice shaded picnic area and lots of trails if you need to get a good hike in. It is only $6 for adults and if the kiddos are under 12 they are free! We went on a weekday so it was less crowded than weekends. I would suggest buying passes online prior to visiting.

We had a blast checking out this state park. The flowers were in full bloom and the water was chilly but not freezing. If you’re packing a lot of stuff be prepared to carry it a good ways as there’s a pretty good distance walk from the parking lot to the steps then to the river. There’s a good bit of steps to take but it was worth the walk. We had a great time at the park all day.

A well maintained park with large camp sites, covered table and fire pit. My pad was long and level, quite secluded. Showers were clean with lots of hot water. The park has many miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails. They have a nice bird blind maintained by an on-site volunteer. While I did have TV reception cell service with T-moble was mostly non existent, at least where I parked. It's a little off the beaten path but that makes it quiet and very dark at night. I'd go back.

Great hiking on rocks with small water springs all around. We also took the trail you have to cross the river (take shoes off) and went up the hill to see the overlook. Well worth it but there’s no bathrooms and a few small benches for a quick rest, so be prepared.

This is a great park with many trails passing through woods, fields and of course the river area. Can be crowded. Swimming is allowed down river and I hear lovely though personally I have not done it. Been here many times and I recommend outside if peak summer because you can bake like a potato. Best advice if you are interested in river is to time a trip after seasonal rain.

This is really a beautiful place. Picturesque waterfall. It is big enough to walk or bike, you will need a few days to see all its trails. During this dry season the river is very shallow and calm, unlike last year's same dates, but anyway we had a lot of fun.
And, of course, fruitful wildlife! Raccoons, armadillos, deer, many different kinds of colorful birds and fish. the bird blind is well designed. And in the star theater we saw a stunning sunset.

We’ve been here several times and always enjoy it. There are many trails and camping. The falls are interesting to explore and there’s a swimming area a bit down the river. It’s a beautiful park with a ton of variety. Definitely get your park pass in advance, especially in the summer, as entry is limited and can fill quickly. The drive to the park is also pretty.

Turned out to be my best sunset in nature during the trip. I was very pleased to get to camp here and scope out the falls before returning the next day for the sunset. It turned out to be the perfect evening with the overcast. I had a nice and tranquil time in the swimming area as well. The river water was nice and warm even in early summer.

I've enjoyed visiting Pedernales for many years. Nowadays it can get very crowded as the sprawl from Austin gets closer and the secret of the park's beauty becomes known to more people. Be sure to use the Texas State Parks website to schedule your visit, especially if you're planning an overnight stay. Lots of campsites with varying amenities to suit everyone. Most areas are dog friendly and there is a bird blind where, if you're quiet, you can watch a variety of birds.

This is a super nice park! To be honest, the walk to the river wasn’t very impress, so it made it so much more mouth-dropping when it first comes into sight! It’s beautiful—the water is stunning, and the rocks in the riverbed are a delight to climb on and explore! Overall, I would highly recommend; it’s definitely worth the drive!
The restrooms are also pretty good for a park bathroom; it’s nicely air-conditioned and it’s kept clean!

While I was there I honestly could not wait to plan a return trip back. It was amazing. I did not wanna leave. The one the water was low so we were able to crawl all over the rocks and explore. It was clean. The sky was big and beautiful. And the parking area was relatively close to the falls, so if you aren’t a hiker and need a more level trail it is not a difficult path to an amazing view. We did take one trail from the Falls back to the parking but I can’t remember the name of it. It was more difficult than I expected with bigger rocks and steeper hills, but it followed the Pedernales river and had beautiful sites. After exploring the Falls we went to go check out the swimming area and it was definitely not what I expected. The stair workout to get down there and back out is a serious work out. So many steps to climb. We were only there for a day pass and didn’t take time to check out any camping spots. The falls are definitely what you were there to see, but beware swimming is prohibited on the falls section.

Took the family here for a day trip to hike and see the falls. We had a blast, it's so pretty and serene. Very quiet. Some trails were very easy, even partly paved, others more strenuous but my 3 year old did it. Even though we are in a drought, the water was still moving nicely, we even jumped in for a dip at the end of our hike. We will definitely be back.

I had a great time hiking the trail and across the rocks to see all of the waterfalls. The rangers working at the park were all very friendly and helpful in giving advice on an annual park pass and on how best to see all of the falls.
It was raining lightly when I went, so there were some pretty slick spots to navigate, but it was a great experience. The falls were all running heavily because of the recent rains, and it was gorgeous.

Visiting Pedernales falls state park for the first time for stories in the stars stargazing night. It’s a fantastic place for stargazing around Austin. Rangers was pretty impressive with story telling where they have brought telescope to look for stars and galaxy in sky. At star theater, there were rocks you can just sit or lay down to see beautiful dark night sky with full of stars and moon moving between the clouds with clear view. At first, I feel disappointed at first with cloudy sky and later it was cleared off. Had a amazing experience definitely worth a visit.

This park is not for the weak. It is a major hike down, then back up, to access the swimming area. The Falls area is almost as tough. Beautiful area, great birding opportunities with the dual blinds. I need to go back for the night sky views.

It's one of my favorite state parks in Texas. The water is absolutely gorgeous. The terrain is incrediblely unique due to the river bed erosion. Lots of challenging hikes, so bring a good pair of shoes. One negative thing that I will say is that so many people wrote all over the stones. Almost every inche is covered in graffiti.. Please leave no trace people..

Fantastic state park. We stayed for the night camping, and the tent sites are top tier. Showers are clean and have warm water. You cannot miss going to the actual falls area, its incredible with lots of area to explore especially if you dont mind climbing and hiking

We visited on 12/17/23 and were pleasantly surprised. There were no waterfalls, but the pools of water were absolutely gorgeous! Crystal clear water, rocks to climb (most not too dangerous), small caves, butterflies, etc. Very peaceful! $6/pp or $70 for an annual pass. We drove by the camping area to check it out, and it looked nice and clean with a shelter spot with a picnic table, power, and water spicket. Merchandise such as t-shirts and beverages available at the check-in headquarters. Both men that waited on us at the drive-thru station and in the headquarters were very polite. Also, dog friendly, but must be on a leash!

This was an awesome state park with so many hiking trails. Trammells crossing was great you have to cross the river early on in the trail, you will 100% get wet crossing here, so have a plan, I removed my shoes before crossing and put them back on other people had large plastic bags. The trail was pretty legit I’d recommend the extra spur on the south side, one a the best parts of the trail and the river overlook on the north is one a the best views in the park.
The wolf mountain loop was nice with solid views all around, it connects with a number of other trails, I ended up taking on the Jones spring trail, and hiked back to the parking lot using part of the juniper ridge trail which was really awesome, one of my favorites.
The falls area was fun to explore I walked the west falls area and explored the rocks and lower falls areas.
It was winter time so I didn’t do much swimming but it looked like a great park for it. It rained a lot and the trails can get slick so bring good hiking shoes.
The electric camping area I stayed at was great the spots area reasonably spaced out, bathrooms with showers are available.
This was a great park and experience highly recommend.

This is a nice place for a day outing. You can enter the park with a 6 USD/ person fee, as well as season pass and camping facilities are available. There are several spots inside the park to drive to, out of those the overlook and the swimming area are most interesting. From the overlook the cascades of the fall are visible and the water color is pretty neat. It's good for a little walk toward the cascades and the rocks too. Just as a note, no drones are allowed for photography purposes.

Perfect for adults and kids. Don't forget to peer into the small pools, as many of them hold tadpoles, frogs, and tiny fish. It's a quick hike down to the falls and pools. You can spend a lot of time exploring. I recommend going early, as there is little to no shade.

Secluded state park in the hill country. Camping sites with electricity and water. Good distance between most sites. We had a site on the outside rim that was very deep. Our only complaint was the parking blocks placed on the sides of the site for parking the trailer. One was located just below our steps creating a tripping hazard, and could not adjust the trailer location at this site for it not to be in the way. I have camped and nearly 10 Texas state parks in the last couple of years and these are unnecessary. On the plus, great trails for hiking.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a stunning wilderness area in central Texas, featuring a dramatic 425-ft. pink granite monolith that offers opportunities for hiking and climbing. The park is well-maintained and clean, making it an enjoyable destination for visitors. However, those wanting to hike the summit should plan ahead by reserving online as availability can be limited during peak times such as spring break. It's important to bring water and a jacket for wind at the summit.
What a spectacular place to visit. This is a great place to visit with the entire family. You can take in the loop, which is 3+ mile hike. The loop's trail is fairly easy. Or, if you want something more challenging, you can hike up the Rock. To drive in the park, you must make reservations; otherwise, you risk not being allowed to park or camp. Wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, especially on those warm days.

We had a one of a kind experience in the Enchanted Rock park.
The park offers a variety of hiking trails in varying degrees of difficulty. You can choose between an easy loop trail around the huge rocks, two trails which require some moderate climbing every once in a while, that will take you between the rocks, and of course the trail to the top of the Enchanted Rock.
The climb up was surprisingly not that difficult. There are plenty of beautiful spots to stop on the way up. Take your time to admire the changing views from different heights, as well as the surprisingly rich vegetation that still flourishes within the cracks and shallow holes in the rock. There is still a lot of running water from all over the rock.
Due to the hot temperatures, it's best to arrive early and climb up first thing when the weather is still pleasant. Take a long walk around the top of the rock and explore the whole summit.
Don't forget to take plenty of water, sun screen and insect repellent.

Visited 4/29/23, a Saturday. BUY DAY PASS/MAKE RESERVATION IN ADVANCE! This is a popular place and you don’t want to miss it. Park attendants were friendly and helpful. Parking near summit trail filled up fast. Recommend summit trail, Turkey pass and Echo canyon trails. We visited on a breezy day….At the top of Enchanted Rock the wind about knocked us over. If it’s going to be a hot day hike the summit trail early and take plenty of water. Recommend bringing a cooler/basket of food for a picnic. No restaurants/fast food nearby. There was a shaved ice truck near the entrance to summit trail and a snack stand that was closed when we were there. Lots of picnic places available and there was a playground down a ways from the summit trail entrance for children. Such a beautiful area. Wildflowers were still abundant when we visited. Views are spectacular. Well worth the time and effort to go see!!

I wanted to take a moment to share with you my recent hiking experience at Enchanted Rock. I can honestly say that it was nothing short of spectacular.
The moment I laid eyes on Enchanted Rock, I was immediately captivated by its beauty. The majestic rock formation rising from the Texas Hill Country landscape was truly a sight to behold. The scenic views that awaited me were like eye candy at every turn.
As I began my hike, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. The rugged terrain and diverse flora and fauna added to the allure of the place. The trail was well-marked and easily navigable, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
The ascent to the summit was challenging but incredibly rewarding. The panoramic views from the top were simply breathtaking. Being able to see the vast expanse of the surrounding countryside was an unforgettable experience. It was as if I had entered a different world, far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I spent hours exploring the various trails and rock formations in the area. Each step offered a new discovery and a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of Enchanted Rock. From the unique geological features to the serene sounds of nature, every moment was cherished.
Beyond the hiking itself, the park provided excellent amenities for visitors. There were clean restrooms, picnic areas, and well-maintained facilities. The park staff was friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant experience for all.
I would highly recommend a visit to Enchanted Rock to anyone seeking a remarkable outdoor adventure. Whether you are a seasoned hiker or just starting out, this place offers something for everyone. The combination of breathtaking scenery and challenging trails creates an experience that will leave you in awe.
In conclusion, my hiking experience at Enchanted Rock surpassed all expectations. The sheer beauty and tranquility of the area left an indelible mark on me. I am grateful for the opportunity to have explored this natural wonder and highly encourage others to do the same.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my incredible adventure. Should you have any further questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Enchanted Rock is a beautiful place to visit. Make sure to make your reservations in advance in order to get in. Hiking the summit trail is short but steep. The views are stunning from the top. There are multiple trails to hike around it as well. A couple of primitive campgrounds too. You can settle down among tons of people and still find solice amongst the rocks.

Plenty to see and do here on multiple hiking trails. The Summit Trail to the top is a leg-burner at times but well worth the half-mile effort. Take your time to enjoy the views and the rock formation itself and you'll be able to make it.
We also did the Loop Trail, which is about 4.6 miles around the outside of the Granite Dome and it offers various views of the dome from different angles, which was neat to see.
Several other trails offer different experiences, too, but we'll have to check those out another day. This is a park we'll go back to. Note that you need reservations for timed entry and weekends are way busier than weekdays.
Also, there is rustic camping available both near the parking lot and off of the hiking trails.
Bring plenty of water because there is little shade anywhere. There are vault toilets along the Loop Trail. Also, watch for snakes, we had a rattler on the Loop Trail when we went.
Plenty of parking but RVs would have a tough time maneuvering to anything but the half-dozen spots in the RV lot.
Also note the closest gas is about 18 miles away in Fredericksburg, and there is little to no cell service in much of the park (for Verizon and T-Mobile).

So, I did this today and boy, was it fun! I also enjoyed the short drive from Austin to Enchanted Rock. Tons of great places to stop and take pics of. I would highly recommend if you just want to get away for the day. I didn’t purchase a pass online which I know you can. The cost was $8 just for myself. The lady that took my credit card was really helpful in making sure that I was prepared and she even stated that I will need more than one water for the hike. Well, I blew her off because I know everything. Wrong! I def needed another bottle of water because it’s def a nice hike. I was able to stretch my one bottle of water out but I thought I was going to die. I admit it. She said that at least one person a day doesn’t heed their advice and they end up having to rescue. Thankfully, that person was not me today. I even went back and told her she was right and I should have listened. So, my point is PLEASE TAKE AMPLE AMOIBT OF WATER AND NOT JUST ONE BOTTLE! The trails are marked and well kept. They will give you a map at the beginning and it is very well laid out. It took me a while to get to the top because I stopped along the way and snapped some photos and took in the scenery. Def zero shade so take your time if it’s 100 like today. One couple got engaged and I took their pic so congrats to them! I also thought that I was going to be able to walk straight up and the. back down the other side of the rock however, that is not the case that I could tell. There is a steep drop so that’s def not a good idea. Pretty pictures, no crowds, very serene on the way up and at the top. Highly recommend!

Great park, fun geology considering central Texas. The summit trail is short and quick, with steeper elevation change in the first half than second. Trail markings are great and reflective for night hikes, but are only halfway up the rock, so be sure to note the direction of your car park so you can find the trail at night. Apart from the summit trail, there are several other intersecting trails. We will be back in the cooler months to explore the 4mile loop trail which is pet friendly. Excellent dark sky for stargazing and milky way chasing.

Enchanted Rock is the name of this State Park. It really is an Enchanted and unique place to explore. The main attraction is the largest of the granite rocks rising up from the ground called...Enchanted Rock. Multiple legends abound about this place. You can hike to the top and look for yourself. The hike seems daunting, but if you take your time and rest and catch your breath, it is doable. Once you crest the curve of the rock, going up, it levels off at the top and you have a magnificent, unobstructed view. We went in the evening time when the sun was going down and it was beautiful. Walk slowly coming down. It looks really steep on the descent, but if you use a serpentine approach to walking down, it is much better. Although the summit trail, is the most popular, there are other trails to explore as well. The Loop trail is the only trail open after dark and just till 10 pm. We walked along this for a short time. It was overcast, so we really couldn't see any stars out. There is also camping available here. We love it each time we come here and usually can't wait to come back and explore more.

Absolutely beautiful hike on an overcast day that threatened rain at a few points. On the **fantastic** park ranger's suggestion, I first did the Summit Hike to get ahead of any rain and do the hardest elevation on fresh legs, then completed the Loop trail afterwards. There are bathrooms along the back stretch in case you're worried about the length and you get to see quartz deposits, close ups of other formations, more look out points, and beautiful flowers this time of year. Highly recommend it, of course with sunscreen, water, and maybe a snack! No cell service for a bit of it, fyi.

This was my fourth time to Enchanted Rock, first time bringing our kids. We felt they were finally old enough, 7 and 10. We saw several families with littles, and I just wouldn’t recommend it if you want to hike the summit. This however is such a beautiful park, wonderfully kept, clean, I love it! I will say though, plan ahead, go online and reserve. We went the week of spring break and we reserved the 30 days ahead (they won’t let you reserve more than 30 days ahead), but there were people getting turned away who were trying to walk in. Plan ahead. Bring water. It’s windy at the summit, so bring a jacket. Other than that, enjoy one of the most incredible natural features of central Texas!

One of the best state park experiences I have had! The terrain was beautiful with a lot if amazing rock formations. There is a variety of plants and wildlife, including foxes and cactus. Amazing place to explore. Summit Trail was my favorite trail, containing some of the best formations and views, both towards and at the peak. Prepare to bring hiking shoes however, as the terrain can get very steep and dangerous for those that are unprepared. Try to come on a non-cloudy night, as stars looked beautiful!
The campsite was relatively spacious, equipped with hooks to hang trash bags, trees, fire pit, and clean tables/benches. The tables were shaded with a canopy. There was good distance between campsites with minimal litter. There was not much noise from other campsites and rangers were not over-bearing. Only issues were that the faucets were close to the parking lots which was a bit of a walk from the site. Not too bad, but without proper lighting, it was a bit inconvenient.
Overall great experience and would be worth to come again!

Excellent park to visit and let the kids run around on the massive granite. Hike up to Summit was relatively easy and fresh because after the initial trail, there was a good bit of freedom to roam anywhere all over the huge uplifted granite (aka the Llano Uplift) and the surface was easy to walk on. The geology insight is very impressive. The view at the top was spectacular and would be awesome at sunrise or sunset. Good birding at the picnic areas.

This was an experience! Let me start off with the positives once you make it to the top it’s worth it, totally - just stunning. The restrooms are clean and their was plenty of parking. What I was not prepared for was the physical challenge, the hike is advertised as moderately challenging and it was Very challenging, I am an active person and the continual incline was something my legs and mind were not prepared for. I wanted to warn anyone, please be safe and try to prep your body beforehand : proper conditioning, hydration, nourishment and please bring plenty of water. There is zero shade all the way up and down, proper shoes are a must as well for safety.

I’m here from NC, and while visiting family, my brother brought me to this amazing park so I could get in some trail running. We paid $8 each for a Day Pass, which I thought was reasonable. While my brother climbed the Summit, I ran the big Loop trail around the park’s circumference. It’s about 4.6 miles long. It’s well marked and the sandy type path was easy to run on. The views are amazing and I stopped several times to take photos and video because it was so breathtaking! There’s plenty of restrooms along the trail as well. It was super cold today (11°) so I didn’t bring along water. I would recommend it if you run this place or hike it in the hotter summer months. They also have camping sites and rock climbing available here.

While visiting Austin Texas, I searched for challenging areas to hike and to witness a beautiful sunset. Enchanted Rock was one of the top three places so I scheduled a day to go that was clear and dry. About an hour and a half away from Austin is Enchanted Rock. The drive was pretty easy and made it there well before sunset. I arrived, pulled over next to the ranger station and paid for my reserved spot. It's always good to reserve a spot here when going to the park. It was January when I visited so it wasn't bad at all. Summer could be a different story. Keep in mind to bring water no matter what time of year you come. Summer obviously bring more. I read reviews that it was a challenging climb. There are some areas where it is a high Rocky step but the remainder of the climb is easier. Overall this reasonably fit 52 year old made it up to the top in about 25 minutes stopping to take a couple pictures along the way. If I would have known that going in I probably would have taken some of the lower trails at the base of the rock before trekking upwards towards the top. Once you are at the top, the vastness of this Park is nothing less than astonishing. I truly appreciated the view and nearby 18ft boulders that I've been standing for probably millions of years. Unfortunately there was very little cloud covers to the sunset wasn't as dramatic as I would have hoped but it was beautiful nonetheless. The ranger said to make your way down no later than 6:15. Once the sunset there is complete darkness so going down is a bit tricky but if you bring a flashlight you will be okay. There were actually people coming up as I was going down at 6:00. Unless you are camping overnight you need to leave the park at 8:00. I would have stayed longer for the stargazing but it was pretty windy that night. Enchanted Rock Park is also classified as a dark sky area so stargazing is breathtaking. You can actually see the Milky way! Would definitely return if I'm ever in TX again

More beautiful than you can imagine!!! Fun for all ages! Bring a hat or head covering as it's very windy at the top. Don't skip the hike around Enchanted Rock! It's a beautiful meandering hike with flowers, butterflies, and birds.

Enchanted Rock was a great hiking experience for our family today! The big climb up the rock was challenging but easily worth it. We had amazing sightseeing from the top in every direction. After our trip to the top, we hiked around several of the loop trails visiting lakes, streams, and other gorgeous viewpoints. You MUST buy a state park reservation to get in, it easy, just plan ahead. Parking and bathrooms were great, the park ranger who greeted us was friendly and helpful.

This is a very steep climb! So make sure you are prepared to take it slow if need be. I would recommend bringing a lot of water to stay hydrated, some shoes with good tread, a hat and sun glasses, and sunblock!

Enchanted Rock State Park provided an unforgettable family hiking experience! The friendly and helpful park staff made the start smooth and enjoyable. The hike encompassed various terrains - from walking alongside a river to navigating brush and steeper sections. Even with those challenges, it was manageable for our kids. The trail offered scenic views, especially passing by large boulders that were perfect for memorable photos. Reaching the summit was rewarding. Encountering kids exploring cave systems added an extra layer of excitement. A place full of adventure and exploration, offering an abundance of opportunities to discover!

Great endurance hike up the big rock. Didn’t get to any of the back side trails but we roamed around the rocks and trails on it. Be careful how you climb down if going down the sides as it can be steep in places. The ranger in the office was informative and really helpful in buying some items from the shop.

Enchanted Rock is the largest pink granite monadnock in the United States, standing at 425 feet tall. It offers a short, yet enjoyable and challenging hike, with the summit trail being moderately difficult. However, once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with an amazing view of the surrounding area. It's important to bring plenty of water bottles and a towel, as there are no restrooms or water sources available on the trail. Please exercise caution while climbing the rock.

this was my first state park visit ever and i loved it top to bottom! easy to locate, park, shop etc.
the hike itself is so beautiful. not difficult but kinda vertigo-y since there’s no tree cover to stop you from seeing drops 😅 i was truly enchanted!

Monday, March 11, 2024 my wife and I went to climb the Enchanted Rock. For us it was a challenge but it was worth it. The view at the top is amazing, you look around it's like watching a Western movie. It's great for families and friends. I recommend it.

Decided to make a pit stop here as I've been wanting to check it out. There's shaded parking by the visitors center. They have handicapped parking as well. Before you enter, there are two informational stands about Johnson City and his legacy. There's lots of trees and shade outside, along with several park benches. Inside, there's a log for visitors and several auditory informative areas to listen to Johnson info. There's even an old Model T Ford!! The staff is helpful. There's a small gift shop also. You can watch several short films too. This is not the only location of information! His childhood home is around the corner. You can take about a 14 mi drive also to get to the old, working family ranch. It is definitely worth it.

What an educational tour of the visitors center and the home LBJ grew up in. The rangers were very informative and took their time explaining the history and answering questions. There are videos to watch if you have the time and a gift shop to explore.

Great historical spot. The Ranch mostly closed but did get to visit Air Force 1/2, school & farm where he was born. His boyhood home in Johnson City was wonderful. Tour of home outstanding!

We had a wonderful tour of the boyhood home of LBJ. Our tour guide was very informative and provided many interesting facts. LBJ used his roots and his observations to create projects that were beneficial to his constitutes.

We were told to stop here before visiting the LBJ Texas white house and grounds and we were glad we did. The volunteers provided a tremendous amount of information. This location also has a recreation of LBJ family home and the family farm. Arrive early for the guided tours of these buildings, we just missed them so we'll need to go back.
Jan Campbell — Google review
Our family stayed in the Hill Country for Spring Break, and one of our day trips was to learn about LBJ, our 36th President of the United States, by going first to his boyhood home in Johnson City and then going to the LBJ Ranch.
It's helpful to start one's trip first at the LBJ National Historical Park Visitor Center in Johnson City, view its exhibits and introductory movie upon request that summarize the President's humble beginnings and rise into politics, first as US Representative and then Senator, Senate Majority Leader, Vice President, and President of the United States. The exhibits and movie tell about his "Great Society" domestic accomplishments on civil rights, health care, and welfare as well as his presidency tainted by race riots and poor public opinion on escalating American involvement in the Vietnam War. We timed our morning visit with the ranger talk at the boyhood home.
Afterwards, go to the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall by first going to the LBJ State Park and Historic Site Visitor Center to pick up a free driving permit and self-guided tour map of the ranch run by the National Park Service. Driving around the ranch, one gets to see LBJ's famous Hereford cattle roaming the grounds and baby calf in the show barn. Final stop is the Airport Hanger Visitor Center, where one gets to view the Lockheed Jetstar Air Force One-Half, LBJ's car collection, and grounds of the Texas White House. We timed our afternoon visit with the ranger talk at the Texas White House.
Even though LBJ's boyhood home and Texas White House are closed under renovation, we had a great time learning from the ranger talks and were able to walk around surrounding grounds. Virtual tours are also available online and in the Johnson City Visitor Center.

Lots of information and exhibits from the state park (visit this location first to obtain ranch driving pass) as well as the national park at two sites. Hoping that the Texas White House will reopen upon structural repairs.

Very worthwhile stop. Learned a lot about LBJ that I previously didn't. Was eye opening.
A popular swimming spot, this creek features an artesian spring & underwater caves.
Beautiful is all I can say. This park is small but well worth a visit. The well is the star attraction but the hiking paths are good and the bird watching stand is new. The only negative is that there are restrictions if you wish to swim in it, but that is understandable, it’s small. The swimming restrictions are seasonal and by reservation only. Pets are not allowed at the well or the trail leading to it.
elinkjoe — Google review
Very well marked for the trail, it was about 1/4 mile walk to the area from the parking lot, there are several ways to get there, do need a permit to swim, but swimming is only allowed between April and September. Access to the park was free, the park is very well kept and has a very cute playing area. The well itself was not like pictures we have seen, but impressive nonetheless.

We had a great time at Jacob's Well. The water is low so there is no swimming, but we had fun anyway. It's a short hike to the well, there is a bit of a descent to get there but the path is easy to follow. We enjoyed learning about different ways to conserve water while gardening and watched the video of the well exploration at the visitor center. The staff were very nice and willing to answer any questions we had about the area. There is a small play area for kids as well. Overall, we had a fun trip and felt it was worth the visit even though the water is low.

Visited on Labor Day.
This would typically be a very cool hike except it was 100° in the shade! The entire drive to get there we kept discussing how the river was dried up. Should have been a clue. What we saw vs the pictures on Google was a drastic difference.
The hike is 1/4 mile -sounded easy except the heat! I truly wish the conditions of the well were posted at the entrance of the park. The rocks made for some nice pictures but the short hike was not worth what was waiting at the end.
Wear non skid shoes! The rocks are smooth and slick with dust and there’s a ton of gravel sized rocks along the path that will make sandals incredibly uncomfortable. It’s only 1/4 miles (1/2 mile) round trip and only took a few mins to get to the end but TAKE WATER in this crazy heat. You will need it.

This was a nice stop while we were traveling through. It was fairly easy to find. There was ample parking and no cost to get in. The trail to the well is well marked abs a pretty easy walk. There was a park ranger at the well, which explained the history of the well and what it was used for.

We were here during winter time when swimming is not allowed. So this review is only regarding the non swimming visit which is free for all. Just note that reservations and fees are required for entering the water when it's allowed.
Parking was easily available - there are about 3 parking lots. Parking lot B has picnic tables and those portable rest rooms. Parking lot C has pavilions available. The well is accessible by walk about 5 mins from any parking lot. Nice scenic area to spend couple of hours easily. Will visit another time for swimming.

Very nice hiking trails. Lots to see and walk, not just the well. The well is very beautiful and clear with fish swimming inside. Trails are easy to navigate with clear signage on the route you need to take. The have an indoor nature center with some things to see as well as a a video of a dive exploring the underwater well to watch. There are multiple things for kids to do as well. They even have a large loose parts play area to build things.

Nice little day trip. Quick walk was with mild terrain. This time of year the water level was low. Fish where trapped so you got a good view of them. The well has a nice blueish green color. plenty to explore and to walk around and sew. Some trails would not suitable for those with limited mobility.

I have to be honest and say I would skip this site next time I am in the area. The water levels were so low there wasn't much to look at. But for me, even if they were higher it would not made for the kind of spot I would want to spend time at again. With that said, I was glad to get to see it when no one else was interested in going due to the water levels.

Jacob's Well is a stunning spot in Texas. This serene and tranquil location is set among huge boulders and a dry creek bed surrounded by lush greenery. However, it is recommended to visit during cooler months to avoid the harsh heat. The water is unfortunately low and not suitable for swimming. Still, the area is home to a beautiful sight of the natural landscape with its serene atmosphere. It is a short walk from the parking lot, making it a great place to take a stroll or picnic and enjoy nature and a peaceful setting.

The well itself was pretty amazing, but I was surprised at how many trails and points of interest were there, such as the nature center and gardens and several fun things for young children.

Jacob's Well Natural Area is a beautiful facility with great views and well kept trails. We found the actual area of the water levels to be low and it took away from the beauty of what we had seen in photos beforehand. There are 3 large parking spots with plenty of parking space. FYI: Parking lot C is the closest to the actual Jacob's Well area for those that may have limitations on walking. There are very clean "portapotties" on site as well as hand washing stations. Parking lot A is for vehicles with RVs although there are no hook ups from what I could see. Although we were a bit disappointed that the Jacob's Well area water level was low, I still highly recommend this place for a visit.

Sadly, Jacobs Well is dried up. Hopefully, nature brings it back. It's still a nice hike spot where you can now walk the river bed and get up close to the lil cave areas the water made on the sides of the limestone.
**Update** Jacob's Well changes. So look for current reviews or call the park for updates if it's filled up or empty.

Lush park showcasing a forested swimming area with rope swings plus a basketball court & trails.
Blue Hole Regional Park! It’s great, amazing, beautiful and free. The cost is $12, but I think that’s to swim, but I was able to go through and walk around. There are some small inclines, but tennis shoes are good. No need for hiking boots, unless you want the support. Use your judgement. It’s very kid friendly and the park is huge. There is also basketball courts, volleyball and pavilions!

I was speechless at the beauty of this swimming hole. DEFINITELY the most beautiful place I've ever swam. The water temperature was delicious... such a nice break from the Texas heat. The swimming area is mostly shaded and the water is clear. They have 2 rope swings that add to the magic of this timeless gem! My only complaint was we couldn't reserve a longer time slot. I WILL DEFINITELY VISIT AGAIN. Sooner than later I hope.

The amount of enjoyable water spots in the Austin area is overwhelming. This was in my top 5. Locals really seem to know how to enjoy it all day by bringing tubes to relax on as well. As for me- I enjoyed the cool swim on a less busy day. There are good spots to soak up in the sun or relax in the shade on the grass as well. They even rent umbrella areas and eating areas for the perfect no-hassle picnic. The fact that you can bring in food here unlike some of the other spots is a nice luxury. The ropes make it fun for kids and adults alike as well.

Blue Hole is a lovely park bordering Cypress Creek. It has all the features of a traditional park such as fields, and courts, but it sets itself apart with the creek swimming area. In the summer months the water is crisp and blue and beautiful. Life jackets are available for kids and those who can't swim. The earlier you arrive, the better!

Beautiful park. You have to make reservations and they let you stay in the park for 4 hours. The cypress trees are gorgeous. The water was very cold, though! The steps to get into the water can be slippery. Bring a towel or blanket to lay in the sun after getting out of the water. No glass bottles allowed but we brought a small cooler with canned water and cokes and snacks. Enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

Great spot to spend the day with family and/or friends. It’s about 1 hour from Austin (on a Sunday in our experience).
If you are planning a visit, make sure to make reservations since they cap their visits into 2 groups (half days) with a fee of $12 per person.
I believe it would be fairly priced at the $8 range but understand the reasoning. Ultimately the place is never overcrowded due to the limits ever set and this is a good thing (in comparison to Barton Springs, which gets excessive number of people during the hot summer days).
Will definitely come back and take advantage of all the beautiful surroundings.
Dry Comal Creek Vineyards is known for using locally sourced ingredients exclusively in their wines. To attend a wine tasting, reservations must be made, and the cost of $20 per person is considered reasonable given that tastings last about an hour and are guided by knowledgeable staff. The outdoor atmosphere adds to its charm and history, making it a great destination for visitors looking to learn more about Texas wine culture. Additionally, guests can enjoy delicious pizza from the brick oven pizza place on-premises.
This place is such a great vineyard and has the best vibes. We celebrated my mother's 70th bday and they provided some great accommodations as we did a tasting. All of the wines we tried on the tasting list are delicious. Katie and all the ladies there were so nice and friendly. The live music was fantastic as well. Natural area for canoeing, hiking, camping, fishing & horseback riding along 4 miles of river.
This campground is pretty awesome. Some sites are more secluded than others. There are a variety of trails, quite a few on the north side of the river. We discovered some hidden gem scenery areas on this trip. The park and river are pretty clean as well, which was something we found off putting at McKinney Falls. The day use area is also quite nice. While there was the occasional jet overflight, there was no external traffic noise, just the noise of cars entering the park. We went during the week, so there weren't a lot of people... Perfect for getting your Zen on.

Awesome park with great trails and views. Fun place to swim and ride bikes as well. RV pads are getting a little worn but the pad sites are very unique with the natural rock and trees, just make sure you bring enough light to carefully traverse your site at night. Being from the Houston area, it's nice to see some elevation change that the Hill Country has to offer. The Guadalupe River State Park offers some excellent hiking trails, seating areas, barbecue pits, nice views, and surprisingly clean bathroom facilities. You can definitely tell that the park is well kept.

We recently visited Guadalupe River State Park and purchased a day pass, and I must say it was an incredible experience! The park is simply stunning, with crystal clear river water and towering cypress trees that provide plenty of shade on a hot Texas day.
There are so many activities available at the park, from swimming and fishing in the river to hiking and biking along the scenic trails. I particularly enjoyed floating down the river in a tube and soaking up the sun while surrounded by beautiful scenery but this time we just took the dog out to get some fresh air!
The park is also well-maintained and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my visit, and I appreciated the effort the park makes to preserve the natural beauty of the area.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting Guadalupe River State Park and purchasing a day pass. With its stunning scenery, fun activities, and friendly staff, it's the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The park is beautiful. I loved the simple hiking trails, especially the scenic overlook. We saw some armadillo and deer. It was a nice cool day to be out in nature. The dog enjoyed the walk and almost yanked my arm off trying to catch an armadillo. We bought a sticker and stuffed armadillo in the park shop at the entrance/exit to remember our stay. The state park bathrooms are always clean, so that is a plus.

One of Texas best parks! Their restrooms beat out Buc'ces! They are so so clean you can smell it. Enjoyed the trails, especially the one you have to cross the river with. Curry Creek Overlook Trail, Golden Cheeked Warbler Trail, Cedar Sage Creek & few others. It's a well kept park & plenty of shade. It was so relaxing. River was low due to drought & fire ban. So, didn't get to do camp fire. Will need to come back during the summer to float the river. Keep in mind, tying down your float with rope to tree unless you have a group to park down river. Nice swimming hole and a nice trail that follows the river. Huge Cypress trees and lots of roots so watch your step. Saw only one snake. Cool learning center for kids. The overlook trail is not much of an overlook due to trees below. Well marked trails and our dog was tick free.

Well kept trails that are basically the park's backroads. If you enjoy cross country running or biking, this is an excellent place to trek. Most of the trails are clear with little obstructions.
Staff was super helpful and took the time to answer my questions about trails, conditions, swimming areas & restrooms.
Specific to Curry Creek Trail section: Pay close attention to the trail path. It was very difficult to follow due to the terrain. Take (or in my case make) a walking stick because some of the underbrush & leaves were difficult to see clearly.
Specific to Bauer Homestead site: There were tarps over the roof, a fence around the perimeter & overgrown plants that obscured views of the homestead.
All the trails have random benches for resting. Upon closer inspection, they were Eagle Scout projects from past years. I thought that was so cool!!
What I loved most about this park was the ability to trek up & down the river, find a cool spot & chill. Everyone visiting the park respected everyone's space and for me, it felt like a piece of peaceful paradise if even for only a few hours.
This is a dog friendly park. I know this because I was able to pet several dogs while visiting 😜.

This State Park was absolutely stunning!! The biodiversity is incredible!! We were able to take a few trails that had beautiful scenery! There are tons of alligator gar so if you’re looking to get a good catch come prepared!! Unfortunately we were not ready for Gar! However we still did have a ton of fun fishing! We did not take our kayaks but I wish we had because the river is on the murkier side.

11/14/'23 at Guadalupe state park absolutely gorgeous, water is low but flowing. No tubbing or kayaking.
This is a gem, this was our first time although we lived in cedar Park for 17 years (shame on us) The restroom facilities are well taken care of by the "female" volunteers 👍 (they did a better job than the male volunteers) and it's climate controlled. There's also a nice setup for tents. Had a chance to capture a close up from an armadillo.

Low water level, but great trails! Such beautiful trees by the water and their roots are amazing. Would love to go when there isn’t a drought. Good shade by the water! Would recommend bringing your own water, it looks pretty cloudy from the fountains. And the rangers were so nice and helpful! Very informative.

Went on a hike with great friends at Guadalupe River State Park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon - when I tell you we hiked and explored WE HIKED AND EXPLORED. I highly recommend hiking boots when and if hiking off trails. Guadalupe River is so beautiful. So so beautiful. The water was calm and we hiked through a few small streams of water. We definitely had an amazing adventure. So amazing that we hiked through the state park for about six hours total - to and back.
We saw bulls, a coyote, and deer. Beautiful tree and rock structures. I will indeed be back!

Stayed during January 2024. Site 79.
Pros: Very Nice place. The bathrooms are so nice and look to be new. Site # 79 was great and felt private.
Cons: Bathhouse SHOWER ROOMS were not heated while we were there. I’m not sure if they have heaters in them at any time.
Not good when the temps get down to the 40’s and lower during your stay. The bathroom/toilet area did have heaters and they were plenty warm.
We will stay again, but when the weather is warmer.

Our friends and family had a blast hiking and playing in the river all day! Def worth a stop if you’re in the San Antonio area. With so many parks to choose from, this is a good one !

It's a beautiful, well-kept state park. They have so many camping sites. The shower house is big, old but nice. There are so many hiking trails and beautiful rivers. We saw a family of deer when driving to the campground.

One of our favorite parks in Texas. Nice trails at the campground and more at the Bauer unit. Clean Restrooms. Quite private spots with good shade. Not far from Groceries and restaurants in Spring Branch.

This is one of the best state parks I have ever seen.
There were picnic tables throughout the park and river area. It is dog friendly and had a playground for the children.
Host is very friendly and knowledgeable. the place is small, but I love the old beams and hand hewn posts of the cotton gin building, glowing from the years of cotton seed oil they've absorbed. The wines were excellent, and we especially enjoyed the cab blends.

My husband and I took my 90 year old Dad to Sister Creek as part of a day out enjoying a Spring day in the Hill Country. The vineyard has a rustic Texan vibe. We enjoyed the wine tasting, and we were really appreciative that they brought the wine tasting outside, so that my Dad could enjoy the experience too!

Great vineyard and winery that has been around since 1988. You can take a self guided tour and sample their delicious wines. Our favorite is the muscat which is sweet and bubbly. The vineyards is beautiful and near the river. Great place to tour while in Sisterdale.

We were in the neighborhood and thought we'd take the opportunity to grab a bottle of their Muscat Canelli Reserve. I buy their regular Muscat Canelli at HEB, but thought I'd get a bottle of their Reserv for comparison.
I was there with my 16 year old children, and the sugn dies say that children are not allowed in their Tasting Room. However, the winery folks were not wanting to say anything, but did say they couldn't taste. I explained that they couldn't taste because they were driving!
The guys there were kind, patient, easy going, humorous ... it was a great experience shopping there. They had open bottles of all 7 of their wines and were happily serving tastings. I told him we stopped specifically for the 1 bottle, and asked if they had a similarly fruity red wine. He splashed together a bit of a red with the Muscat Canelli, and it was quite delicious. If they had that bottled, I'd have bought one.
All in all, it was a very pleasant short detour, and I came home with an awesome bottle of wine!

Cute place. Very unique. I think I would like the wine, but the amount of the taster was not enough to really tell the difference between the dry reds. The person who was working with us was less than knowledgeable about the wine. I was also surprised at how they continued to push the wine club before we really even got to taste the wine. Over priced for what we got. Overall disappointing.

Lettie was so great! We had the best time and ended up buying way more wine than we planned for because it was so good. It was time and money well spent. We can’t wait to come back!

I stopped here after it caught me eye while driving through Hill Country, Texas. I visit Hill Country to collect fossils there, and to take photographs in the spring of the beautiful wild flowers. Well, I do enjoy wine, and thought I'd at least get a tasting, just to see what they have to offer. One sip of their Muscat Canelli and oh my my my I was hooked; it was like I finally found a taste of Heaven! Okay, at this point you're like, "come on, man.." -but it's the light carbonation, the sweetness, the taste of the outdoors etc that like their description, does indeed taste like summer in a bottle. I bought 12 bottles of it, and a bottle of most of their other offerings (which were all delicious too), and I wound up drinking them in less than a month - and I don't drink much wine! I understand that the taste of win is a personal thing, and their wines may not be for everyone, but I suggest you stop there and at least check them out, as you might be pleasantly surprised, or, you may find a wine you'd been seeking for a long time and didn't think exists.

Actually popped in for wine tasting (since they were open on weekdays) while we were in town in Boerne visiting my husband’s family. Cute little winery in a converted cotton gin. You can do a little self tour then do your tastings. The man who we did our tastings with was knowledgeable and fun. Wines were good, we bought 2 bottles to take home.

A really fun time at Sister Creek Vineyards! Immediately we were greeted and welcomed. We got a tour of the winery and proceeded with a wine tasting. The wine was great and the ambience was amazing as well! Highly recommend!

The Cave Without A Name is a picturesque cavern that has been open to the public since 1939. It offers guided tours of unique geological formations, as well as occasional live concerts. The cave has multiple rooms, each more stunning than the last. Visitors can enjoy a tour with knowledgeable guides like Catherine, who is both a biology college student and an expert on the cave's features. She even uses black light flashlights to highlight the colors beneath the surface of this fascinating natural wonder.
Great outing! Easy access cave with many rooms , one more beautiful than the other. We highly recommend the guided your -ask for the tour with Catherine as your guide— she is a biology college student and loves the cave and what she does. She even took a black light flashlight to show the different colors under black light - is a great idea and a different take on caves. Not one of the massive caves, but absolutely worth it!

Finally got out to this privately-owned cave and it was very much worth it. Our guide was a VERY enthusiastic young lady and she did a great job. These caverns are worth your time to reserve a spot to tour. They hold monthly concerts and host weddings in the caverns, too, so pretty fascinating. Great story behind the discovery of the cave itself as well. Really enjoyed it.

Absolutely amazing cave tour! So glad we picked this one. We only had time to do one cave in the area and after a little research this one sounded good and much less crowded and touristy. Mike led our tour and he was friendly, interesting and informative. Everyone in our party really enjoyed it! The Cave has so many features- solitary tricolor bats, drapery and bacon, clear pools, it is utterly lovely. Highly recommend! Afterwards we had a Moroccan geode cut at the gift shop and the kids panned for gemstones. Great experience! Good to reserve your time ahead and wear comfortable and safe footwear for all the steps.

This was a great experience. The cave itself was fun to tour and very educational in learning about the different rock formations in it. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about their jobs. The entrance fee was around $21 and they offer an active duty, veteran and retired discount.👍
They have a gift shop inside as well as clean restrooms outside. The staff are very friendly and ready to answer any questions.
This is definitely worth a drive to go check out and have fun exploring.😁

Sunday, March 10, 2024 my wife and I went to see the cave with no name. Alex was our tour guide. He would start explaining how this cave was discovered. He also explained the rules while touring the cave too. He would explain to us every detail of the cave like the formation and discoveries that have been found. He showed great knowledge and experience. The cave is beautiful. It's something you do not want to miss. Great for families and friends. I recommend it.

First time visiting and first time ever visiting a cave. It was such a wonderful experience! I forgot the guy’s name that was our tour guide but he was so nice and very informative. He mentioned he’s a senior in high school! Kudos to you for all that you shared with us!
I brought a jacket because it was communicated it would be about 66 degrees down there and I get cold easily. But it really doesn’t feel like 66. It was quite humid. I say that say you probably don’t need a jacket. Def wear walking shoes and bring a water bottle if you tend to get thirsty easily.
The duration of the tour was nice, walking and listening to the history of the cave and stopping for pictures!
Highly recommend checking this place out!

Great tour from Natalie. She was able to answer all the group’s questions. She really knew the history. Our family (including the teens) enjoyed it. It is a small cave, which is ideal for people not really into caves but has some unique features that were great for people that explore caves often.
There are 2 marked trails to explore while you wait on your tour to start. We did the short easy yellow trail in the afternoon heat and it was all shaded and not uncomfortable despite the heat.
Katherine was great in the gift shop. So nice and kind.
If you are looking for something to do other than ride a horse, plan this into your trip!
Can’t wait to visit again when they have a concert down there. The acoustics are suppose to be phenomenal!
*There are lots of steps, but that was expected.

Nice cave and close to San Antonio, TX. We went on the trials before the tour. The tour person did a good explanation about the caves. There is a small shop beside the caves. Be prepared to walk up the steps after the tour. A good place to visit if you are looking for something to do.

Great Experience! Our tour guide Cole was awesome. He made it informative and interesting even for our 7 year old. The cave was full of amazing formations and features. I highly recommend it. They also have a gift shop and you can purchase a Geode and they will cut it for you which was a big hit with our son.

What an out of this world experience! Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. Shared so much information and had great stories about the cave. The cave itself is beautiful with so much to see and admire. Our favorite part of the tour was when our guide turned off all the lights in the cave and we sat in complete darkness. Wow!

Caroline was a fantastic guide and did a great job of explaining formations and the history behind this cave. Her black-light demonstration was especially fun. Cave Without A Name is a good choice for first time cavern visitors and those with younger children. There is an 8 story climb out of the cave but not much walking or navigating tricky terrain when in the cave.
Nichole Crites — Google review
A nice tour of the cave with lots of stories and history. Caroline was a great guide. It's more like an underground museum than a cave adventure, so don't expect to become an active spelunker in this tour. Also, good to know your physical abilities. going down into the caves and walking around was fine, but climbing eight vertical stories of stairs to get out is a CHORE! Highly recommend for the young or fit, though.

Our guide Natalie was such a sweet girl. She told us she started in high-school and is continuing through college. She was extremely knowledgeable about everything asked. I am extremely happy we got her to lead our tour.

Amazing cave and guided tour. Went at 3pm on a Thursday with my boys. Called ahead to make reservations. Tour lasts 60 min. So many amazing cave formations! Loved the cave bacon and eggs, alien, and nativity. Saw a few bats. Even had a few minutes with all the light off. It was a nice escape to 66 degrees on a 100 degree day.

Excellent! I've been in alot of caverns in my life. The tour is very beautiful and awesome down below. The guide said maybe once a month they have a 200 person concert down there. That would be so cool! In the pic with the flashlight showing, the cavern goes on another 2 miles, but the tour does not extend there. You will have to go down about 8 stories of stairs so not wheelchair accessible. The guide was very knowledgeable and nice. Also a nice gift shop there too! 🚻🚭

This was a different kind of tour for us, it felt like a stroll back in time, the guide was a former visitor that came back to tell all the little stories that went into bringing this cave into the spotlight. Though not as well known as Natural Bridge, it is still enjoyable and definitely cooler. They often have weddings and musical concerts in the main cavern.

We called ahead to reserve a tour for our time of arrival. Tours happen every hour. We checked in at the gift shop and looked around at all the wonderful gems and trinkets you can find there.
Our tour guide Amy was great! She was everything you want when you take a guided tour. Knowledgeable, thorough, and fun. She walked us through the history of the cave and pointed out a bunch of notable aspects of this quarter mile 8 store deep cave system.
Well worth the roughly 40 min drive from San Antonio.

Gorgeous Cave Without a Name speaks for herself.
The property feels so inviting and I was excited to discover purple dalmatian jasper in the gift shop! We had a short wait time and only 6 people on our tour. We saw a salamander on one of the steps!
Our tour guide was lovely and so knowledgeable. As for the guide's name... My hubby heard Andy and I heard Candy... So thank you (C)Andy!
We watched the dive video later and somewhat fulfilled my longing to explore deeper in the beautiful cave.

For starters, I tent camped at cave without a name and had an amazing experience tent camping. All of the campsites are essentially brand new, nice and level. All electric. All water but no sewer. Mike, who checked me in when I got there in the evening for my tent was absolutely amazing and Steven who squeezed me in a group when he didn't have to the next day because I didn't realize you needed reservations was phenomenal. The older gentleman that cut my big geode in half. I don't remember his name but he was fantastic to talk with and everybody was entertained by him. Speaking about everybody else. Everybody was so friendly staff. The customers. Everybody. There is something about cave without a name that seems to draw. Very good people. And I will be back to camp and visit the cave and bring friends so they can experience that same level of greatness that I got to experience. I am just posting a couple of random photos when I was down in the cave.

We took this tour with Caver Mike - he was great! So many stories, answered all questions, his passion was quietly obvious. The cave was beautiful - would love to attend a concert there with the acoustics. Good walkways & stairs have rails on both sides. The “hike” back up 8 flights was CHALLENGING but worth the effort! Bought some things in the gift shop, too. Great experience.

I've been to quite a few caves and this cave was definitely one of the good ones I've been to. I enjoyed the drive out as well. We had so much fun and staff was super nice. We didn't reserve any tickets, but we came on a weekday and there were still quite a few people there and would recommend getting them on weekends etc

Very nice and has a lot of ducks/geese - and soooo many turtles! Just turtles everywhere - a TMNT party on every block. Nice trail with a dog waste station and some restrooms. The restrooms are purely in case of emergencies - they're not the cleanest. Plenty of parking on the street - and restaurants across said street!

OMG! *Your 1st Destination in Boerne, TX Must be the paved 1+ mi. swerving paved path meanders among, under trees along the Cibolo Creek you'll not even Notice the Distance you've walked! Folks pass sayin, " Hi. " Every group. Here, feel the peace of nature, light wind touching your face
You'll stare as you walk under the Bridge, see the working/functioning "Mill Wheel" & be charmed by all the seemingly tame wood ducks & geese. It's January, huge Canadian geese walk among others - & us. A gentleman on a brilliant red bench facing the Creek (surrounded by ducks) tossed a handfuls of cracked corn towards me, as ducks ran towards me!
Walk to find the "Water Wheel" and more..
