Danny runs a phenomenal shop. It's chill and he trusts you like every great American should. We were welcomed like old friends and treated like family guests while we were there. The fishing was awesome and he was a great teacher. I'd definitely go back again.

Ignore the negative comments from the people who are embellishing the story about Danny driving too close from them. I was there that day fishing with River Wranglers. We we're at the hole first. Danny allowed them to take our spot and we left after we had a good day of fishing. Danny barely touched the raft if he even touched it. Its class 3 rapids and the guide service could have waited until we left if they we're worried traffic around their rafts. I've fished with River Wranglers 2 out of the last 3 years and I'm coming to fish with them again this summer. We caught more fish than every other charter on the river. Its not even close.. These guys the best in the area! -Tony Murray

Danny and the guides at River Wrangellers put us in phenomenal water and we had an experience of a lifetime. They were patient, professional and awesome instructors on the water. Talk about getting us into BIG fish! We released most of them for next time!!! Although there was competition on the water, there were plenty of holes to share and fish for everyone. The guides respected other river users and exceeded our expectations around every bend.
Brett Svetlik — Google review
Not professional at ALL!!! I was out with KING FOR A DAY!! When I witnessed" Danny",from this company, with his jet boat came speeding in n intentionally pushed our raft up the embankment into the rocks n many branches. Thankfully the raft was only scuffed up! Danny was quite smug while our guide TYLER, remained composed n very friendly with Danny, which we couldn't believe after what we witnessed! Danny, drops off his client-side on the river, alone to fish!!!! His clients had already caught their KING for the day. After Danny picked his clients up, we began fishing, N my first catch was a fresh King carcuss!! Danny seems to NOT BE MONITORING WHAT HIS CLIENTS ARE CATCHING EITHER!!! WE ARE VERY HAPPY WE DID NOT GO OUT WITH THIS COMPANY CAUSE WE WOULD OF NOT HAD OUR ALASKAN EXPERIENCE AS WE DID WITH "KING FOR A DAY"!!!!!! CAUSE "I", WAS A QUEEN FOR THE DAY!!!
Tammy Anastasio — Google review
I was distressed when the owner of this company deliberately ran his jet boat multiple times through a fishing hole occupied by a competitor. Such unprofessional behavior does no one any good.

Brandon was a fabulous guide, this was both our first times salmon fishing. He explained and walked us through the technique. Definitely would book another charter with them!
Booking was easy and communication through email was awesome.

When we first met McKenzie in the office, we knew that we were going to have a great experience. Our guide, Erika, knew her stuff and showed us the ropes. She was patient, no matter how much we

Took a 1/2 day fishing trip for long salmon. Easy booking. Some co fusion between e-mail and instructions re start time so make sure you call first. Since we were staying at princess lodge they thought we were on a cruise and apparently princess asks them to start at 6am Vice 4 AM. Worked for us though. We didn’t catch anything but it was fun and our guide was engaging and I formative. Erica I believe. We could have done the full day. Weather overcast and drizzling but well organized and the river is fairly peaceful which was good for me:)

We have gone out with Brandon and his team the last 4 years. They are great. We have had great success! The floating is fabulous. The guides are all experienced and make the trip a blast.
Teresa Curran — Google review
Even though it started out rough, Brandon more than made up for it. We saw eagles, a moose crossing the river, and a beaver. Brandon was very knowledgeable and made my wife comfortable fishing in a raft for the first time. I would recommend Copper River Guides for both novice and more experienced anglers. Thanks again Brandon!

Amazing time fishing with Eduardo at Copper River Guides. Limited on Reds and found some Kings! Exceeded all expectations!
Bret Jenkins — Google review
I was anxious about rafting since this would be my first time, I am in my 50s, not athletic and not in perfect shape but Eduardo and Erica put our group at total ease so I was able to enjoy the relaxing rafting and beautiful scenery . Eduardo (Eddie) was very knowledgeable . He helped us getting in and out of the raft and navigating the terrain when we stopped twice to see the wonders around us up close.

We had the pleasure of camping and fishing with these folks. Everything about the experience was excellent. They are friendly, down to earth people. Dan our guide did a fantastic job and extended our time to give us the opportunity to catch fish. The equipment was all first rate.

Beautiful; fantastic; excellent service and friendly staff. Best experience I ever had on a fishing/camping excursion. My son and I spent 4days/3 nights fishing with Jeremy on the beautiful Gulkana River and had a blast. Caught lots of fish, ate extremely well, and enjoyed the conversation in the raft. Will definitely return next year. I strongly recommend you do as well.

We will return one day for some fishing.

Went fishing with Jeremy as a guide he stayed out later than necessary just to ensure that we got our fish I rate them a 10 out of 10 for being most excellent!
thank you very much for the great time we had. Great camping there & amazing folks!
We’ll worth the cost of the float trip to catch Kings!!!

We stayed here at the last minute during a recent motorcycle trip through Alaska. The staff was so nice to us and even gave us some fishing tips. I would definitely recommend staying here and plan to come back just for fishing in the future.

Love it. The air photo does not due it justice. You really have privacy and camping right next to the fast flowing river has its advantages. Fishing in your pj's. Stephanie the owner has become a true and passionate Alaskan... also a great guide.. she just loves fishing and never tires of it after 20 years
Rose Kenny — Google review
This was so fun! The owners are so kind and sincere. They were flexible and very responsive on the phone while we set up our trip. We booked it only 24 hours in advance. They are enthusiastic and truly want their guests to be successful. Jeremy took the time to show us fishing holes and dip net technique. He was generous with his own equipment. We got the AK resident glenallen subdistrict copper river permit. All AK residents are eligible for this. It is free, and the limit ia higher. You fish "above the bridge". Jeremy took us to a wide sandbar along some eddys along the Copper river. We fished and camped overnight. No flies, no bears! Beautiful beachy campsite. Back at basecamp we used their cleaning station to gut the fish. We got 42 salmon. They have laundry and showers onsite. Soon they're getting an industrial vacuum sealer. It would be a fun trip to get your fish, process and seal, and camp in their camp ground.

Jeremy and Stephanie are the best! We camp and fish there every year. Home away from home. Tonsina king trip was the greatest float we've done yet!

We loved our time at this easily accessible campground. Our host was pleasant and helpful. The river provided a relaxing atmosphere. We are the first campers of the season and are glad to know that the staff are reading and implementing mandates for Covid 19. We felt safe and definitely “social distanced!”

I'll never travel to Palmer without this trip planner again
Great visitors center for introduction to the largest National park in the USA. Had excellent displays, theater, clean restrooms, and grounds. 2 different rangers gave talks one about the park overview and mountain peaks and glaciers. The other a talk about the boreal forest and fungi/mushrooms that can be seen there. Nice flat trails for easy walking to see the local plants and trees. Very quiet and beautiful views if you are lucky. We read every display, watched movie and did the trail. Can spend 3 hours there doing all that. Should bring your own food snacks and water. None for purchase. You can refill your water bottles there. Highly recommend.
Teresa T — Google review
Excellent visitor center only partially open as of late May. We were able to watch the film of the park in theater and visited an indoor exhibition area but main center was closed. Restroom had plenty of stalls and flush toilets. Be sure to explore trails near park facilities as they are in great condition and not long. We walked the forest trail, the River trail and the original Valdez trail. Rangers were on site.
Elaine McDonald — Google review
It's a visitor center... not really much to see or do, but had plenty of information for visiting the largest park in the United States. Small gift shop operated by Alaska Geographic... a bit pricy. Worth visiting if you're going to explore the park.
David DeKorte — Google review
The view of Mt. Drum and the Copper River that is behind the visitor's center is as beautiful of a vista as I have seen in the entire United States.
Brian Johnston — Google review
Like most NP Visitor Centers this one is staffed with friendly, knowledgeable Park Rangers. There's also an exhibit building nearby, and another building shows a 20-minute informative film about the Park. That said, there's not much to this VC. You can see it all in an hour or two. The available hiking trails are short, with severely obstructed views of the Copper River Valley. I understand that there are other entrances to this NP with roads that go much further into the Park and have far better hiking trails. My advice would be to consider those.
Don Davidson — Google review
Its a national park visitor center in a relatively sparsely populated area in Alaska, but its the gateway to the largest of the national parks. Theres a decent movie to see, a ranger station, and a walking oath that has some fantastic views of the mountains, or on inclement weather days, rain and fog, and a few displays briefly explaining the history of the area. Its a very important place in history, as well as geologically still active. Support it!
Paulness — Google review
We became a bit discouraged with the bumpy dirt road but the views we had were amazing. We couldn't keep our eyes peeled for wildlife because the countless potholes and rocks required both the driver and shotgun-rider to watch carefully .
Due to the smoke from the Canadian wildfires the mountains stayed in a haze. After 20 miles we chose to turnaround as the drive was wearing on our driver. Definitely happy we made it as far as we did.
Christa Jones — Google review
Great visitor center for a National Park. Nice, new, big restrooms and the visitor center has interesting exhibits. Also a great walking trail just off of the parking lot. A ton of different fungi at the end of August along the trail. Also a display of a fish trapping wheel. Good for a rest stop and to learn about the largest national park in the US NPS. Definitely stop by here if you're going to into Wrangell-St Elias.
Millie Kwan — Google review
Must visit the visitor center if you’re planning to visit the national park at Kennecott which is 3+ hrs drive from here on unpaved road for most of it. Where the actual park is and the root glacier trail starts.
It Is very informative. Check their timings before visiting. Also note that you need to take a shuttle from McCarthy to Kennecott which runs until 7pm I guess.
Sathish Jayapal — Google review
My favorite park in Alaska. Great hiking, views, camp spots. Space so you aren't in a crowd!
Fred Stark — Google review
This is a beautiful park with a nice visitor center and outposts at the access areas. It is a huge park and for most people it is mostly inaccessible. The trails exceed my comfort zone of 5 miles round trip. To get to those you travel on gravel roads up to 60 miles. We found a beautiful spot to boondock at mile 16.5 of the northern entrance.
Glenn Bozorth — Google review
This is a great place to learn about the natural wonders of southeastern Alaska, and about the historic cultures of the area. The gift shop also had a wide selection. There is a theater that shows a film about the park, and there is also a separate building for restrooms. The Boreal Trail is worth walking, but watch out for the bugs in summer.
This is the best flightseeing tour in Alaska. Not only are the prices great, but the entire team are friendly great people and accommodating. You will not be disappointed.

Four of us took a flightseeing tour with Copper Valley Air on July 17, 2023. We arrived at their office a little early and the staff were very friendly and made sure we were comfortable until our flight departure. We met our pilot right on time, and took off for the mountains! Our pilot was very nice, experienced, and knowledgeable of the area. We had great weather and light winds which was a blessing for sure.
Brian N. — Google review
We had an OUTSTANDING day, thanks to Copper Valley Air Service. Our pilot was knowledgable and engaging, and delivered way more information about the things we were seeing on our trip than we could possibly absorb. We had an easy landing on the soft moraine in the middle of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, and were allowed to walk and explore the amazing landscape and isolation of this remote National Park. Would recommend a trip with Copper Valley Air Service to anyone for an experience you'll treasure for a lifetime.

Took the mail-plane to McCarthy; by far, one of the very best things I've ever done! The Copper Valley Air staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful; the pilot was absolutely outstanding, and the flight itself was far beyond expectations. Truly a great time; I want to go again!

Having a friendly, successful, 5 star business is one thing- going the extra mile to help out your local community is another. I'm happy to say that CVAS does both!
We can't personally speak to their flights- their other happy customer reviews can- but CVAS provided needs specific lodging to allow us to bring our veterinary services to the community and for that we think very highly of them.
From one business to another- THANK YOU for all you do for your community.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks in Alaska for our anniversary and our flightseeing tour with Copper Valley Air was one of our favorite parts of the trip! We truly had the best experience with the staff, as the entire team was welcoming and professional, and they crafted a unique personal experience for us. We took an 80 minute flight with Martin as our pilot, and he was great. He was very informative and told us many stories while giving us the best views of the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park from above. I would definitely recommend this company for flightseeing tours, they were incredible!
Lindsay Wehmer — Google review
Exceptional, helpful, and friendly people here. Just had two beautiful winter flights in and out of McCarthy. Along with the flights, they went above and beyond to make sure I was kept apprised of weather conditions, any delays due to weather, and made sure I had time to get to the airstrip to catch the plane. Even coordinated with my connecting airline to Anchorage to make sure I could complete my trip as planned. Highly recommended!
T Luster — Google review
When our Travel Specialist suggested we take the "Mail Plane" to get to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, we were intrigued- picturing ourselves perched on a pile of packages... Well, the mail was a significant part of the project and it was fun to see how the delivery and loading actually happened, but above and beyond it was a flight-seeing, efficient and exquisite way to see the Copper Valley and then the huge, spacious-beyond-description Wrangell-St. Elias wilderness. Copper Valley went "above and beyond" to coordinate our flight with the connecting Reeve Air at Gulkannen. Weather has serious implications in the region, but for us it worked out well: "Rain, snow, sleet or hail, nothing stops the US Mail!"

I highly recommend the folks at Copper Valley Air Service! Kevin and Seth are both great pilots! I will continue to use them in the future.

10⭐'s! Absolutely amazing! Martin was very nice, extremely informative and we very much enjoyed our flight! Tons of interesting things to see! Highly recommend for a sightseeing tour! 😊 We'll definitely be bringing family. He was so great with our 2 yr old son!
LeeAnna Bohnert — Google review
Copper Valley Air is awesome! I booked a flight to look for my river boat that had slipped anchor and drifted down the Copper River. I had very little hope of finding it. Martin, my pilot, helped me find the boat, but also landed on the sandbar in the middle of the river so that I could recover it. He also loaned me his satellite phone so that if I had any problem running the boat back up the river I’d be able to get help. Martin is an extraordinary pilot and person and went way above and beyond to help me out with all the logistics of getting the boat back home. Even though is wasn’t a sight-seeing trip, he pointed out points of interest and told me a lot about the area. You will never find an air service with better people or service! Don’t hesitate to go fly with them! You will not regret it.

How can you come all the way to Cordova and not have a drink at the Alaskan? This is the way a bar should be. They've got shuffleboard and pool tables. And one TV.
They have typical bar food. We decided to buy some food from the food truck next door. The Alaskan let's you eat their food at their bar.
The people are great. You'll leave with new friends.
My only knock on this place is limited draft beer.

This place has great bones and a lot of insanely awesome 1900s charm. Definitely one of the coolest places I’ve visited in the last 4 years while hyper-traveling Alaska.
I actually don’t think I’ve ever rated a place lower than 4 stars and would’ve loved to give this place a higher rating. I genuinely tried and re-tried to find a better experience here, but 4 out of the last 5 interactions I've had with the lady that works nights can only be described as “hateful” even after consistently tipping 30-40% of my tab.
However, it seems the place is up for sale and will be switching hands. I’m hopeful that someone else in the community can help to restore this place to its former glory and hire someone that would show people (namely, other women) a modicum of kindness and respect.

This is a must when visiting Cordova. Fast service and nearly dead when we stopped in for a drink. Cold beer on Tap, really good selection. Prices seem fair for the location and everything having to come by plane or boat.

Great atmosphere in this historic hotel and bar. Rustic and relaxed, it is a great place to hang out or spend the night. Cheap rooms, nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Fryer food in the bar, and a selection of beers on tap. Free pool and shuffleboard. Liquor store as well. Great place!

Wow... don't stay here. Seriously. We showed up at about 11pm and were dead tired. My gf seriously would have rather slept in our rental car than stay here. The room REEKED of cigarette smoke and we could hear just about everything happening in the bar below us (we were on the second floor.) Old building, old furniture, old everything really. It was cheap though... Now if you're coming for the bar, well that's a different story.

Long, accessible glacier in Thompson Pass, viewed from a lookout spot on Richardson Highway.
Views of Worthington Glacier and surrounding Thompson Pass are worth the hike to see them.
Nash Wilson — Google review
A perfect stop on the way from Anchorage to Valdeze. The maintained trail is very short, so if you want a closer glimpse of the glacier, you need to be a bit adventurous and make your way over the rocks and rubble yourself. Make smart choices, and you can get right up to the glacier. The river runs right out of the glacier to the beautiful lake below. It is picturesque whether you hike to the glacier, or enjoy the view from the overlook.
Anne Veldhuisen — Google review
We just went out to Worthington Glacier the second week of September, didn't realize that you can't actually touch the glacier like a lot of reviews had said. Apparently those are not updated. The woman running the show out there, greets you and takes your $5 for parking, and her dog (I think his name was Tucker??) Were super friendly and very helpful with answering any questions about the geography , etc (including that you really haven't been able to touch the glacier in at least 5 years). It's a beautiful drive out through Thompson Pass though so would still recommend as a stop over.

Valdez Glacier Lake, located just outside of Valdez, is a popular and free attraction offering stunning views of icebergs floating along the lake's edges. In the winter, visitors can walk across the icy lake to reach the face of Valdez Glacier, while in summer, kayaking or canoeing provides an opportunity to paddle to the glacier and witness impressive icebergs along the way. The lake often hosts large chunks of floating ice that have calved off from Valdez Glacier.
Bring your snowshoes. Bring a snack. Enjoy the 3.75 mile hike to the glacier. Know your limits and explore all the brilliant blue ice.

Take the airport road to see this glacial lake. The lake has floating ice in May when I visited.Families and couples were taking the views.Good for photos. I couldn’t make out the trail to the glacier but it might be apparent after snow melt.

Beautiful place for a paddle. Lots of ice floating on lake and river. Serious currents and not recommended for less confident paddlers. Would have been better with a guide. We found lots of dead ends and did a lot of backtracking due to lack of local knowledge.

We did a 3 hour kayaking tour with Anadyr Adventures on the lake. It was absolutely spectacular. One of the best tours I took this year. We got to kayak through the ice and go up close to the ice bergs, I recommend to wrap up warm, but it was definitely worth it.

Beautiful view of the glacier ice without having to get close to the caving glacier itself. There is really only one place to stand that you can actually see the glacier (near the sign). There were people putting kayaks in on tours. Its was a really great place for photos and the silt wasn't deep so it wasn't too icky with little kids.

Went there March 12. Super windy and it there was fresh snow. Tried walking on the packed trail but some spots you will be knee deep in snow. There’s some people that go to the glacier in snowmobiles. If you go during winter, the lake will be frozen so you can walk to see the glaciers. No parking fee and there’s room for lots of cars.
Eli — Google review
Went in early January and was able to walk out on the lake to explore the icebergs and get as far as the Glacier. Saw a few snow machines out on the ice and snow. Lots of water on the ice as well. Definitely recommend having a couple friends should you decide to walk on the ice or climb the icebergs.

Rented kayaks from Valdez Stay and Play. Kayaked around the icebergs was outstanding. Must be careful with rocks and ice falling into the water. Definitely worth your time and energy.
Amazing place! From the friendly staff to the stellar guides, this place is the only place to Heli ski in Alaska. Their lodge was super accommodating, welcoming, and comfortable. The food was incredible, and every meal was executed to perfection. We enjoyed looking out at the mountains every morning. You seriously can't get enough of the beautiful scenic views here, both in the helicopter and at the lodge.
We had three days of Heli skiing, but Mother Nature had another plan. We got one day in, and the guides did their absolute best to get us out again, but no luck...... and that's the gamble of this experience. Brightside, they had super fun cross country skiing and other activities to do.
I can't say enough how magical this experience was, I can't recommend this company enough for your next heli ski trip.

Only the facts !
We were a group of 8 friends and we went to this lodge for one week of heliski. If the ski was ok, the lodge quality is definitively not at the quality level expected for this expensive vacation. They sold to our travel agency that the number of guests is limited to 16 customers for 2 helicopters in order to have more privacy, which was a important criteria for us. Indeed, 25 customers were there. Hence, our group was divided by 2. Four of us had a bedroom inside the main lodge when the four others were sent in two “cabane” at 200m far away from the lodge. So we had to walk in the cold every morning and evening to have breakfast, dinner and to go to sleep, for the same price as the other guests. For a such expensive trip this is not acceptable.
In addition, the cabane decoration was outdated from the 70’s and the mattress were very poor quality. Mine, for example wasn’t flat and very soft, which is definitively not comfortable for having a good rest after an intensive ski day.
The food was very common, and the bar maid really not professional, bringing wine bottle for free and then asking to pay for it.
In addition, they charge us back for the vertical not performed 3 months later, after having requested many time to get our money back, definitively not professional from their side.
I definitively do not recommend this place, there are so many other competitors, with nice hotels, nice bedrooms, nice mattress, and professional employees.

Great lodge. The sleeper cabin was great. Didn't eat or drink but it looked nice. If you plan to hot tub later in the evening, make sure the staff knows so they dont shut it down early!!!

They made us feel 100% comfortable, they were adventurous and they truly gave us an experience of a life time!! You won’t regret this tour! We went on the helicopter ride to the glacier and explored the ice caves!

What an experience! We were on the advanced trek with our tour guide Warren. She is amazing and professional, provided us all the gear needed for the trip, and made sure we were safe walking on the glacier the entire time. I would never imagine the trip to be this great, it was over and beyond our expectations. We passed all the other people who only did the regular ice trek and owned the entire park to just few of us. We did a little bit of ice climbing too, which was a little bit harder than I expected, but it was a lot of fun for a first timer. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone!

One of the best experiences ever to walk on a glacier. Our guide Dan was amazing checking on us at every step and shared lot of knowledge on glaciers and especially Matanuska. We did a 4PM tour last week and it was not all crowded felt like only we were on the glacier.
The views are amazing and the glacier water oh my god, its the best tasting water I ever had in all these years of my existence!!!
Carry an empty bottle to take some with you.
They provide the shoes, the spikes and even a rain jacket if its raining and you do not already have a rain jacket on.
I did not expect the hike to be so good it was an amazing activity for a group.

MICA guides and our ultimate adventure and overnight stay on the Matanuska Glacier was truly the highlight of our trip. My husband and I LOVED learning to ice climb - our guide Brett was so knowledgeable, fun, and helpful. I’d recommend opting for the ice climbing over just the hike - it’s unlike anything else you’ve done or probably will do. We felt like we were safe, instantly friends, and in great hands. Everyone from check in to check out at MICA is so hospitable and kind. The views and experience are beyond stunning - don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime experience!

Our group of 5 did both the Advanced Trek with Connor and the Ice Climbing with Connor & Samantha. These experiences were the favorite of the trip for my brother in laws birthday adventure. We can’t stop talking about it. The advanced trek gets you deep into the glacier and the ice climbing makes you feel so powerful and strong. Connor was so knowledgeable about the glacier. He was professional & super fun to hang out with for our two days exploring the glacier. Samantha was amazing helping us feel confident and safe during our climbs. And props to all of the people we encountered from Kyle directing us at the parking, to the people at check-in, and everyone we encountered in between. You can really tell that all of the guides are passionate about their jobs and love working here. The vibes are amazing and helped to heighten our experience.

A++++! I highly recommend! As a first timer hiking through a glacier. Our guide Adam did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable, having fun, passing along valuable knowledge about the glacier, and I could keep writing about all the positives but there are too many. I guarantee anyone who goes with Mica Guides will have an amazing experience! 10 out of 10. Thank y’all again for the adventure of a lifetime.

My wife and I went on a glacier walk with Ryan today. Great fun, interesting facts and a terrific guide. The glaciers are awe inspiring and Ryan was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He always ensured that the walk was within the capabilities of all in our group while still allowing some of us to explore within safety confines.
Overall, an excellent guided hike with a great guide company. Well worth doing.

We had a fantastic experience on the advanced glacier trek with guides Tom and Will! They were quite knowledgeable about the glacier, and ensured our safety throughout the trek while setting up ropes for some fun climbing and rappelling. We got to explore so many stellar glacier features... an incredible day that we'll remember for our lifetime, and a great way to wrap up our first visit to Alaska!

We did the ice fall trek with Quinn as our guide. This experience was better than we could've ever imagined. I learned so much about glaciers and had a blast. Quinn was very knowledgeable, funny, and accommodating. Without a doubt one of the most memorable things we have done in Alaska. Mica guides is definitely the company you want to book with. Hope to see you next year, Quinn!

This glacier walk tour is incredible! The views, the knowledge sharing, the experience worth every penny and would be the most unforgettable memories you would have in life. We had a wonderful day with Dillon, he’s the most professional, friendly, and humorous guide we’ve ever met. We learned a lot about glacier, history and geography :D! 100% recommended!

MICA Guides, and specifically Kelsey (K2) was absolutely amazing! I was in a small group but we all had past experience hiking and wanted to be pushed so she took that into account and went above and beyond so we could see/do as much as time allowed. She was very informative about the glacier but also really down to earth and fun to be around. I was in Alaska for 8 days and did a lot of other activities but this by far was the most enjoyable. I highly recommend MICA guides but also highly recommend Kelsey (K2) as your guide.

Our Ice Fall Trek with Mica guides was great! Going with Mica was a suggestion from a friend who trekked the glacier twice with different tour companies. We had such an experience & our guides Tyler & Samantha made sure that our trip was as safe & enjoyable as it could be. We passed by another tour company that had probably 20 people with young children & were really glad that we didn't choose that tour! For our safety, we weren't allowed to take photos or videos as we were moving but there were plenty of opportunities for photos when we stopped so the photo package that was offered could use some more value. Otherwise, the tour was amazing!

MICA Guides are awesome! We just had one of the most epic adventures. Bret took us out to the glacier for the Ultimate Adventure, and they delivered! It started off with several lessons and then bumped up a notch to some climbing and repelling. The cherry on top was Angel’s Landing, an endless hole that we got do to! This is a must do adventure! Top notch gear and service!

Connor and Dan were so knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable ice climbing! The climbs they chose were tailored to the abilities of the group and had 2 ropes set up at a time with different difficulties for each. We got to climb a harder route that was so much fun and so rewarding! Glacier ice is incredible!! They provide all the gear you’ll need including rain pants if necessary. Riding in the burb was an interesting and humbling experience—respect ✊ Thank you for a unique Alaskan adventure, it’s one we’ll never forget! (P.S. bring lots of snacks)
Beautiful area for viewing the valley and Glacier. The views are expansive, stretching for miles. The Glacier stretches into the distance and around the mountain out of site. There is a short trail (one mile) that leads to different views with informative signs describing what you are seeing. We had a picnic her at one of the many tables available. All in all, this is a great place to visit.

The one mile hiking loop has some enjoyable views of the Matanuska Glacier and Matanuska River. There is a $5 (cash only) day use fee at the parking lot. There are also coin operated viewing scopes to get a close up view of the glacier so be sure to bring quarters.

We took a guided winter season tour through many gorgeous features in the toe of the Glacier. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable! One of the best tours we've ever taken.
Stacey Gingras — Google review
We drove two hours thinking we were going to get close but the trail takes you to a lookout point to see the glacier, to get close you have to go to a private land and pay for a tour which is a little bit pricey. Take bear spray with you or go with a crowd. I spotted one black bear. Remember that is the woods.

$160 per each person include guide, hiking boots and crampons.
But not worth. If you have a too much money, you can pay for.
Near park is free with rest room.

Smaller campground, we squeezed out 42’ Class A into site 8 and barely parked tow in front. $20 had fire ring and picnic table in need of repair. Hindsight would have paid $10 to stay overnight in large day use area parking lot with better views of glacier. There is also a really nice free view at mile ~99.3 with a double ended paved pullout that allows overnight stays. More road noise of course though.

Nice stop and some terrific views! Would love to explore deeper into this park but we were just passing by. Easily some of the best shots on this stretch of our drive from Chitina to the Knik River. Informational signs on site as well. Great place to stretch your legs and get some fresh air.

Such a cool place. We actually got to walk ON the glacier, drink from a glacial stream, and enjoy the beauty of the glacier. Our guide, Will, was great and peppered the tour with different geological facts.

Great place. Stopped here to see the glacier, if wasn't as big of course since its July. There is a 1 mile hike loop that takes you a little closer. Goes through the treeline and back with a few spots to stop to take pictures.
David Behbahani — Google review
There are any way points to see the glacier off of the highway. Additionally, there is a state park to view from a gazebo or bench. In the state park you may also see moose or other wildlife. There is a road that will take you down to a tour area where you can go walk on the glacier for a fee. There are restrooms at the park and fees for camping.
Very Professional Operation. Tommy P. was our guide for the 3 hour tour. We were given instructions on how to operate the ATVs as each was a little different. Then he took us down by the river on a short course so we could become comfortable always checking on us and giving us local history. Thereafter, we crossed the road and really did some off-roading! Up hills, through valleys, and even played in the mud a little. Multiple moose sightings and sweeping views of the mountains and glacier.
All-in-all it was a great experience and would recommend to friends.
Also... there's a little espresso hut on site for coffee and little snacks.

Great views, fun trails and good stories. We got into some good mud and saw some moose. We are still working to get the mud off the kids faces. Great time and thanks again,we will be sure to recommend it to our friends.

We had the best time on this trip. We really enjoyed Tommy our guide and found him to be very knowledgeable and accommodating from beginning to end. He is very pleasant and safety conscious. All equipment and ATV/UTV’s are in great shape And well-maintained. We are so thankful we book this trip. We had one rider that had never been on anything like this Because she’s not a very outdoorsy person and she really enjoyed it. This is definitely a trip your whole family can enjoy. You better believe when we come back we will be booking again.

We booked the zipline at Matanuska Glacier to end our 2 week family vacation that began with several days in Vancouver, Canada, included a 7 night Alaskan cruise, and ended in Anchorage. Of all the activities and excursions we participated in during this trip (there were many), this was hands down the best thing we did! This was our first time zip lining, and I was worried my kids age 9, 11, 13, were going to chicken out. However, the guides were fantastic, and made us feel really comfortable. My kids wanted to go again once it was over! The drive is a bit far from Anchorage, but the views along the drive were incredible. We chose this zipline over another that was a shorter drive, and so glad we did. Their website was very clear on their refund and cancellation policy. We allotted a couple of extra hours in case of road construction so that we wouldn’t be late. That allowed us to hike trails nearby. The entire area is beautiful.

The guides were great -- two young female workers (Gina and Madison) and their senior (Alec), all enthusiastic and cheerful, drove us to two points for the double zipline. The first line gets you to about 20-30 mph fast while the second one gets you to 60-65 mph fast. If the wind is too much, they cancel the second zipline and refund you 50%. But luckily in our case, the wind was just about the right speed to let us take the second zipline. It was a great experience.

We had an amazing experience going out to the Matanuska glacier. We did the 6 mile adventure trek with our guide - Drew, he was the best for this job. He answered all our questions, and ensured that we were comfortable and safe. Would highly recommend this tour and will visit here again for the rafting trip.

We had a fabulous time doing the glacier trek on the Matanuska Glacier with our guides, Mitch and Drew. They taught us so much about the glacier. They were very engaging, making the trek super fun while keeping us all safe. They paid careful attention and encouraged our kids at just the right times. They have all the gear you need. You don't even need to worry about having the right boots. Since we were in a rental RV, we even got to camp by the river in their "parking lot" for free. Amazing!

Went on the Matanuska Glacier trek and had a wonderful time. The glacier was beautiful and I got to learn a ton about it. As long as you listen to your guide, it's a pretty easy and safe hike. Glacier View is a beautiful area in general, and I highly recommend doing the hike on the glacier! They provide waterproof boots/helmet/spikes, so just having long pants, a windbreaker, and a layer underneath was perfect for us.

I don’t even know where to start with NOVA. I have interacted with many guides and have nothing but good things to say about all of them.
1. Ice climbing - phenomenal, so much fun, such a cool challenge
2. White water rafting - a great adventure for the adrenaline junkie
3. Private glacier tour - Maya was our guide and made our trip spectacular
4. Glacier hike - slightly more expensive than Matanuska glacier guides, but worth the cost because Nova actually keeps track of your reservation and has smaller groups.
5. River float - we sent my mom on this trip while we were white water rafting and she had a good time!
I love that they have so many activities happening at the same time so you can bring the whole family and there’s adventure at everyone’s comfort level. It’s also great that all the trips are half day so you can double up and do 2 epic activities in one day!! The base camp has picnic tables that able to be used. Bathroom is a pit toilet, but very well maintained and lots of hand sanitizer.

I cannot begin to express my incredible experience with NOVA Alaska Guides. Every step of the way and beyond was incredible. Not only was I blown away by a once in a lifetime experience just by the views in awe 4,000 miles away from my home- but our tour guide, Thomas, was astounding! He was thorough, educational, funny, kind, and answered all questions with grace, even the oddly specific ones I threw at him not expecting him to know. There were many people crowded at the glacier when we got there and he wanted our group to be more alone on the glacier, and the way he stalled to kill a little time on the fly kept us interested and entertained. He truly went above and beyond and it is clear he loves his work. It seems like it can’t get any better, but it does- I lost my sunglasses someplace in the mix and NOVA actually mailed them back to me, to New York! Every single person I interacted with from start to finish was an absolute angel. I feel blessed to have even seen the glacier, but NOVA took the experience to the next level.

Glacier hiking and ice climbing was our favorite adventure of the trip to Alaska.
We had a private tour and our guide Ben was absolutely the BEST.
He took us to the ice cave, ice canyon, showed us couple holes in the glacier with waterfalls and we did several ice climbs.
Our safety was his priority. We were ice climbing for the first time and felt very comfortable with Ben.
He spent with us all day guiding us around glacier and we had great time.
We would love to come back and bring friends with us next time!

Our experience with Ben as our guide was incredible. My wife and I went with our in-laws and her siblings, age range 22 - 57. We did the half day expedition on the glacier. Me and one of my old college roommates were visiting another old roommate who lives in alaska and he recommended using Nova for their tours. We did the rafting in the morning and the ice climbing later in the afternoon. All the staff were amazing, super nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and just all around great people. For the rafting they provided all the appropriate gear (dry suits with boots, helmets, life jackets). Our tour guide Coffee (like the drink) was amazing, we had no spills along the river and they even had one of their employees take photos of everyone throughout the ride (available for purchase on flash drive for $30). for the ice climbing they also provided all the appropriate gear (boots, crampons, helmets, harnesses & tools). Our first guide Maddie was extremely nice but eventually had to leave after taking us to our climb area where Ben took over. He was extremely cool and even went out of his way to stay a bit late with us to make sure we got our time/money worth even though he had been out on the ice since 8am. He even set up a separate anchor rope so we could dangle and take photos of each other climbing. All around great guide group and would definitely come again if ever in alaska again!

Pioneer Falls Trail is a hidden gem just off the main road, marked by a small sign. The trail is not paved and offers a natural setting with rocks and a vertical river cascading loudly. It's recommended to take the dirt track for a better view of the falls, which can be seen from the main road. Parking is free, and it's just a short walk to reach this gorgeous waterfall.
Turn in at the mailbox.

Gorgeous waterfall just off the road. You have to look carefully to find this place. There is a small sign that points to the falls. You can see the falls from the main road, but you really should take the dirt track up to the turnaround and walk the 100-150 yards up towards the falls for a much better view
This is not an ‘improved’ site, so the trail isn’t paved or gravelled, other than the natural rocks. Its a waterfall in its most natural setting

This was a wonderful part of our Alaskan trip. Riding through the beautiful Palmer area and seeing what beauty the longer summer days and sun can bring. Wonderful horses that knew what to do (no experience needed). We brought my mom along who wasn't sure if she would be able to ride due to hip issues. Katie took the time to change out saddles on horses to see if mom could be able to ride. Unfortunately, she could not but allowed her to tour the stables, see the newest foal and got a full refund as well. We will definitely look at doing this again when we return next year. If you do not ride horses often just know you will be sore the next few days....but SO worth it to have this experience.

An amazing time at Sunderland Ranch located in Palmer Alaska (50 mins from Anchorage) in a peaceful & tranquil setting. The trail includes picturesque mountainous views, elk, cattle, creek w/young salmon. Sloan, Katie & staff are warm, friendly, very patient with beginners & children. Also the ranch includes a B&B big enough to accommodate a large family & they do birthday parties too. Must do!

I went for the 1.5 hour trail ride, there was lots of scenery from mountains, to flower fields, to a tree walkway, we saw farm Elk, and passed lots of different berry bushes. My daughter recently enjoyed a one day ranch experience. She wanted to attend a horse camp this year but she was just short on the age. Sunderland Ranch offers both a horse camp and a horse day at the ranch. The younger children can attend the horse day. My daughter loved it and will be attending it once a month for the summer. And she looks forward to the camp next year since she will be old enough. I think the day camp is a wonderful idea. It gives the child the opportunity to try the activities out and see if they would want to go to a camp. They had different activities she said she learned.
She played games, fed animals, rode a horse and had a wonderful time. I recommend Sunderland Ranch for any child interested in learning and experiencing a working ranch.
Gets them outside away from the TV and video games too.

I took my class to the Sunderland Ranch for a hands on equine behavior and restraint class. It was amazing. Kate and her husband were wonderful hosts. They welcomed us with five well behaved horses to teach my students how to properly restrain and do physical exams. They also allowed my students to observe a castration lab. This will hopefully become a yearly field trip for my class. It is wonderful to have places like the Sunderland Ranch available to my students to learn. A community dedicated to help college students learn and grow is and should always be valued.
