Campbells Covered Bridge
Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Built in 1909, SC's sole remaining covered bridge spans Beaverdam Creek & is surrounded by parkland.
Quaint piece of Americana can be felt at Campbells Covered Bridge. It's painted school yard candy red which makes it stand out in the landscape. The parking is plenty and there are picnic areas around to enjoy the stream flowing under the bridge. It's very nostalgic and impressive to see a 100+ year old structure still intact.

A great place to go on a short road trip. A beautiful, well preserved, well maintained park area. Enjoyed a few hours here with my four legged travel companion and I think he loved the park even more than me. My dog really enjoyed playing in the water under and around the bridge.

Visiting Campbell's Covered Bridge was nice. It's beautiful for anyone wanting some unique pictures taken. We enjoyed the beauty of the land & how the bridge fits in so naturally. It's easy to find for everyone.

This was such a peaceful place to visit! I will definitely be back and have a picnic in tow. It's not a far walk down to the bridge and it is beautiful scenery. You cannot drive through the bridge but there is a decent amount of parking. There are no bathrooms on site so be sure to stop before your visit! It's worth a visit for sure!

What a great little picnic spot! Shallow stream rinsing under a well-preserved covered bridge. Original stonework visible. Nice hiking trails and not over-crowded.

I love this place! 💘
My husband introduced me to this place for the first time, about five years ago and I fell in love with it.
I love to get out and snap pics of beautiful nature scenery, and this place made it easy to do🌈. I didn't have up edit many of the photos I was able to get and the ones I did, it was just me wanting to play around with them.
The water is so peaceful and the walk was beautiful, and the atmosphere breathtaking! 🥰
Leah Gunter — Google review
Much had been reconstructed to preserve the bridge so some imagination was needed to appreciate the original bridge history. Short drive from Poinsette Bridge so can be combined together.

We came upon this gem as we were driving the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Drive. This is one of the stopping points on the drive and did not disappoint. It is a beautiful little spot, very shaded. Would be a perfect spot for a wedding. As were we there, there were some people doing a photo shoot. Very peaceful and relaxing and plenty of room to have a picnic.

I love coming up here for just a place that's quiet and serene. It's so beautiful here with the bridge, all it's history, and the river. The bridge is currently undergoing conservation repairs as of October 2022 so hopefully it will be open to walk through again soon. All other areas of the park are still accessible just as they always have been.

I have been going to this place on & off for years, with my boys when they were growing up and now with my 5 grandbabies, ages 4-14 and now we ALL love it!! And now I love taking them 🙂. It's just a beautiful place with the beautiful red bridge over the river and plenty of space and room for family activities and picnicing.
Kelly Sullivan — Google review
Cool place to stop. Walk across the bridge, wade in the creek below or have lunch at one of the picnic tables. Walking trails are a great way to see lots of different plants and some animals. The keep the bridge looking nice, just painted it.
Missy Kess — Google review
Such a beautiful place to see. The bridge, the creek and the trees starting to change. Make sure this is added to your trip.
Mindy Dilley — Google review
Ample parking area with trash cans. The bridge is a very short walk down a path and there is no entrance fee. Probably “peak” scenic in the fall or under winter snow. In summer the creek running under the bridge can be accessed from both ends of the bridge, but there is lots of algae on the water rocks which is extremely slick.

Very pretty place. Took my dog for some photos since we were in the area

Nice covered bridge. Very clean, inside a park. You can walk right down into the water
Bill Maguire — Google review
It's a cute little bridge, very short but still worth going to see. There is some renovation work going on at the moment and unfortunately a lot of ugly orange barrier netting that is hard to avoid in photos. Otherwise the surrounding area is nice for walking and the river is pretty. We'll go back later when there is more greenery and the construction is gone. UPDATE: we have since been back and all of the renovation work is done and the bridge looks lovely!

Paris Mountain State Park is a tranquil and picturesque destination located on a mountaintop. The park offers extensive hiking and biking trails, as well as canoe and kayak rentals. It features numerous campsites for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Additionally, there is a swimming area with a small beach, rental paddle boats, and plenty of picnic tables equipped with BBQ grills. The park boasts clean bathroom facilities along with an adorable gift shop and free little library for visitors' convenience.
Great experience, accessible trails, pretty scenery.
Everything was well maintained, and they even had fishing poles and tackle in the visitor's center you can use for free.
We took the trail around the lake, and it was very easy to walk, with lots to see. I really loved the dam and the bridges. There is so much to do here I will definitely be coming back.

What a wonderful park! I stayed in the campground for 5 days, didn't have a chance to do much exploring as I was visiting family, but I will def be back. There are numerous trails for pedestrians and cyclists. A gorgeous lake for swimming and boating. There is a designated swimming area that is quite small and not very deep, but still refreshing and plenty of fun. The beach is not accessible, there are a bunch of stairs and no ramp, although it's possible I missed it. The lake had free lifejackets folks could use and pedal boat and kayaks for rent.

Absolute amazing state park! Wonderful walking trails, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and paddle boating. Loved the tree canopy trail around the lake and loved being able to get an up close look at the dam. Downloaded the Agent of Discovery app and did the challenge for the park. Lots of picnic areas and a playground

We had a lot of fun at this State Park. The park staff was very accommodating. The other visitors were friendly and generally in good spirits. There were many hiking trail options and other activities to partake in, such as swimming, paddle boating or watching the free concert at the outdoor amphitheater. They also offer at least one location in which an electric vehicle can be charged for free. Would recommend!

I went to Paris Mountain State Park for the first time today and I had such a wonderful relaxing day! It's location is great, only about 20 minutes from downtown Greenville. It cost $6.00 per person, so affordable and we found a parking spot easily. We parked near the beautiful lake where there were plenty of picnic tables and a bathroom. You have a view of the lake no matter where you sit, it was so nice to just sit, relax and enjoy the weather and the lake while eating lunch. There are about 5 trails you could walk, we chose to just walk around the lake which was lovely and I think just under a mile. The lake has a small beach area where you can swim at your own risk, no lifeguards and they have peddle boats you can rent, so fun! You can fish there too. There's plenty of benches along the path around the lake so you can sit and enjoy the views, there's an amphitheater as well and a souvenir shop with bathrooms. You're surrounded by trees and some pretty honeysuckle bushes, there's a small dam with a pretty waterfall and the lake is beautiful. Just be careful walking around, there are a lot of tree roots that you can trip on and don't touch any greenery, there is a lot of poison ivy. We had a peaceful day and thoroughly enjoyed it, I highly recommend you take a trip to Paris Mountain Park!! Dogs are welcome too!

This park is absolutely gorgeous. It's near the top of the mountain. It's $6 a person. They are open from 8am-8pm. We went at 7:30pm. We spent 90% of our time at Lake Placid because it was just beautiful. The water fall was fantastic. There is a horse ranch just outside the property line which is visible from the lake. The house is amazing. There is a nice gift shop at the park as well. This a great park for taking a relaxing walk or reading.
I very seriously recommend this park.

Well maintained park with more than 15 miles of hiking/running/bike trails. Good mix of difficulty levels. Great views and mountain lakes. Bathrooms throughout the park. Don't forget to visit the park center for some history on the park and souvenirs.

I visited Paris Mountain State Park because my son was running a trail race there. Just a few minutes from downtown Greenville, Paris Mountain State Park is a peaceful escape from city life in a beautiful natural environment. There is much to do here: hiking, swimming, trail biking, picnicking, camping, and boating. There are also playgrounds for children. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. Paris Mountain is a great place to get away and enjoy the great outdoors!
Greg Squyres — Google review
This is a wonderful spot to hike and get some fresh air. Sever hiking options including a short one around the lake. Very easy trail. They have others that are longer and more intense. Overall this is an awesome park.
Wade Williams — Google review
The park is really great, very calming and quiet to walk through! If you have a bike, the trails are awesome. And if you are worried about hiking with bikes on the trails, bikes aren't allowed on Saturdays, and there are hiker-specific trails. Lots of places for picnics as well! Restrooms were clean and well maintained.

Quiet and serene beautiful park. Swimming area with a little beach, rental paddle boats, plenty of picnic tables and bbq grills. Clean bathrooms, cute little gift shop and free little library.
Christa La Capra — Google review
Beautiful park. It has many different trails. You can challenge yourself. Some of the paths are for only people walking. Other treks you share with mountain bikers. Personally, the trails were too busy for me. I constantly had to stop to let bikers pass me. Overall an excellent adventure.

I got married here back in 2018 at The Lodge at Camp Buckhorn and it was absolutely beautiful. I was one of the first people to get married here. It was so cheap too!! You get the wedding venue, and the 10 cabins for the entire weekend. There’s also a big fire pit everyone can sit around and enjoy. If you are looking to save money but have the wedding of your dreams this is definitely the place to have it! There are bathrooms and showers for anyone that stays overnight. This venue is about 10 minutes from the main entrance of Paris Mountain so you can be as loud as you want to lol They do provide chairs and tables if you want to use what they have. This place has a lot to offer and the possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating etc. I tell everyone to get married here. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the wedding and spend time with everyone for the entire weekend and not feel rushed. We had a big wedding so whether you are having a big wedding or a small wedding you can make this place work. We had plenty of room for everyone inside and the DJ. Most wedding venues this size are about $5,000 or more for just a day or a few hours. This was half the cost and you got it for the entire weekend. Anytime I had a question or concern the park staff were always eager to help in any way. The money that they get for the wedding venue also goes towards the park for renovations etc which I saw first hand. You can’t beat the price or the experience that comes with this place! Everyone loved this venue!!!

So even if you are just starting to get your health in line, this is the perfect place to start. They have flat east hikes, some that require some hills and ones that made me think I needed to call Sky Med for a lift. 😂. It is beautiful, lots of trees and shade, plenty of parking. Make sure to bring snacks and water. I see bikers but frankly the roads are too tight for me to be on a bike. Even w a full size truck, you have to pull off a bit when there is a vehicle coming the other direction. It is definitely worth getting an annual pass.

Great place for the family! We completed the blue trail. My 13, 8, and 6 year old kids made it with ease under that 1.5 hr timeline. Please leave it better than you found it. We bring bags and pick up trash to pay it forward to those not as considerate. Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

Short visit to check out the environs. It is a lovely park with nice warm-season amenities.
The park office/gift ship has a few exhibits focused on the creation of the park by the CCC and the nature found in the area.
A good selection of short trails of varying degrees of difficulty but longer hikes can be accomplished by linking a few together.
Mountain biking is popular here, but some trails are designed for hikers only. Pay attention to the trail map if biking.
The camp grounds looked more than adequate for those with tents or small camper rigs. Larger rigs are not really suited for this park.
The picnic grounds are very nice with shelters, bathrooms, etc. Reservations may be needed in high season to ensure a space for groups.
Its proximity to Greenville makes it a very easy day trip for residents.

Great #StatePark located in Greenville, SC. It’s 6.1 miles from downtown Greenville. Very nice park but the drive to the park is not warm, fuzzy, scenic or relaxing (lol). It was a beautiful, glorious day and Park was very busy. Lake Placid is picturesque— and there’s a small beach 🏖️ for swimming. Hiked a few trails and meandered around the place. Wonderful old shade trees and beautiful foliage everywhere. Met a lot of nice people, too. Paris Mountain is a very beautiful, family oriented clean and well maintained state park.

Beautiful park with many hiking trails that are well suited for a 1 to 3 hour walk. Saw lots of happy dogs on the trails; they were required to be on a leash. A few of the trails were compatible with mountain bikes.

Paris Mountain SP is a hiker and mountain biker dream. There are many trails of varying difficulty covering over 15 miles. The park itself is one of the smaller parks in the state system but has lots to offer.
The campground area is tight to maneuver with narrow roads and some sharp turns. The camp sites are well spaced out so you have plenty of room without being on top of your neighbor but there is limited parking space. It was hard for us to park our tow vehicle and second vehicle in the space. The parking pads were well maintained and the hookups were in good condition with no problems. Water pressure was average. Despite the website stating the campsites are level, there is a decent amount of grade so bring plenty of leveling blocks, especially for your front jack, mine was extended to it's maximum in order to detach from the truck with a 4x4 block under it. The camp area is VERY wooded with a full canopy. It's amazing how full the canopy and when we left the park it seemed 50% brighter!
The roads in the park are narrow, barely wide enough for two cars and with the many twists and turns it can be challenging for long campers to navigate. The shoulder is at least 4-6 drop off the paved road if you get too close when trying to get over for oncoming traffic.
The restrooms were clean and well maintained. The shower facilities were setup well with a solid wooded swing door on the outside with a chain lock. The shower had its own curtain. Although tight, it was typical and functional. Water pressure was decent and water was warm (not hot).
The campground is a short .5 mile hike, either by road or trail, to the park store/ranger station which is right on Lake Placid. The store has limited supplies and gifts but is well maintained and has an interpretive area with lots of information about the history of the park. Along the lake is a nice beach area with various wooden loungers. There is a roped off swimming area. The water was very clear. There is a rental shop for kayaks and pedal boats that rent for $5/30 minutes. The rental includes the life jacket. There is also a stand of free loaner jackets for the swim area. At the opposite side of the lake is a dam/spillway that is picturesque and peaceful to listen to and observe. Across the street from the store is a large parking area with a huge open field with a volleyball net and playground.
The trails are in great condition and are well marked and well traveled. Bring good hiking boots and you'll be set! Trails are Easy, Moderate, and Strenuous difficulties. One of the trails leads to an outdoor amphitheater. There was a live band playing while we were there with more planned for the month. There were also several bike repair stations located throughout the park. There is a lot of natural beauty on the trails with various wildlife and interesting rock formations.
While I'm not sure I'd go camp for camping due to the tight roads and smallish campsite, I would definitely go back for a day visit to hike more trails and enjoy the beauty of the park.
Kent Meyer — Google review
Trails are easy to follow. Multiple shelter locations spaced far apart. Bathrooms are very clean (low season, visited in mid March). Will visit again if in the area.

This is a beautiful park! The trails are awesome! Take your pick on terrain, easy to intermediate! You can walk around the lake too!

A great little place not far from Greenville, South Carolina. The hike around the lake was nice and relaxing. It looks like they have plenty of activities in warmer months with a beach, kayaks, and more. It makes me a but jealous that we don't have it more where we live. Also, we hear a strange howl (definitely not a dog or coyote) that responded to the distant train. I'm not sure what it was, but the nature center and gift shop might have had the answer.
Hollywild Animal Park is a zoo that boasts a vast array of animals who roam freely. Many of these animals have been featured in movies and television shows, and the park offers safari rides to visitors. One of its main attractions is the drive-in Christmas lights display and feeding experience, which is highly anticipated by visitors every year. Despite some issues with vehicles going in every direction during feeding time, people love this unique opportunity to see these precious animals up close.
We went to the zoo for the drive in Christmas lights and feeding zoo experience. The lights were good and our daughter loved feeding the animals. The only thing is during the feeding section there’s no order so the vehicles were going in every direction.

Unreal experience for children and adults alike! Having the tongues of the creatures lather your hands with their saliva is quite the involved experience and not for the feint of heart. Make sure your little ones are ready for some in for face wild animal action. No lions, no Tigers, no Bears, but oh my is this experience is - as the kids say these days - lit 🔥

Awesome awesome very Merry awesome touch for Christmas.
Buy your tickets in advance for both zones, and get the biggest bag of food to enjoy interacting with the animals. Very well taken care of.

Great staff! Animals were super cute and look heathy! Place is kept clean no trash on sight. Had a great time. Make sure to buy lots of food bc the animals do love to eat it.

We came to Hollywild to see the Christmas light display. The line to get in was not that bad. The lights were pretty decent, but charing $10 a person was a bit steep (and then another $10 per bag of food if you want to feed animals in the deer yard). I didn't mind paying them because I knew the money goes toward care of the animals. The deer yard would have been better had not there been SO many cars in it ... it was chaos and deer were running all over. I felt bad for them. Perhaps letting only so many cars in at once would make for a better experience for people and for animals.
April Emery — Google review
We had a blast if this isn’t a place to take your family to enjoy Christmas lights and seeing the reindeer, then there’s no other place to go. You’re admission fee is really helping the animals and when you buy the bags of food to feed the animals. It also goes towards them. It’s out in the middle of nowhere but when you arrive, you will be surprised.
Craft Stove Gas Log Repair — Google review
Went for the Christmas lights and to feed the animals. The lights were beautiful and well done. The wait to get in was understandably long but once you are in, you follow the path of the lights and it was very smooth moving and at a great pace to see everything! Once you get to the animals where you can feed them, the traffic is chaos. There is no path to follow and there are cars going every which way! It’s fun to have the gentle animals come up to your window for food but the structure around traffic is difficult to manage in that area. No one is there to direct cars so it’s kind of a free for all. After you leave that area, you’re back on the vehicle path and all is good getting back out. Loved the experience overall!

This was great fun and a good way to introduce city kids to animals. We drove through twice while an assortment of deer, emu, donkeys, geese and more ate out of our hands. This family owned business deserves support. Thank you for creating and maintaining the park for the animals and families like ours. We will be bringing all our visitors here.

My kids always wait for the season when we could visit this place. Hand feed the animals, they always are very excited. Nice to see many animals so close. Three stars only because of very short period for visiting this place

Have had this on my “must go” list for two years now after hearing from local friends about how awesome it was - finally made it this past weekend and I’m sorry to say it was an enormous disappointment. It appears that what used to be a unique local attraction has been outsourced to some third party to operate and it’s gone majorly downhill in the process. We spent $40 just to drive through the park and see the lights and then an extra $10 to experience the “enchanted deer forest” - most of the light display consisted of these canned sculptures/lighted signs propped up along the side of the road - the kind you can see on display in any number of cities for free. Half of the lights were out across the park - you could see several sculptures and structures that looked like they were maybe supposed to be lit, but the lights weren’t on for whatever reason. The signs at the entrance said to turn your radio to a particular channel (I assume to hear Christmas music) but the station was nothing but white noise. The “enchanted deer forest” was basically a section of open parking lot area with a herd of terrified deer running around trying to escape from cars that were driving around at them like some kind of strange vehicle rodeo. If you wanted to throw food at them, that cost extra $$. Santa’s village was open this year, but whereas that had been free to walk through in prior years, now they charge extra $$ just to enter (and there’s not much in there to see) plus it’s an extra charge if you want to do any of the activities in there ($30 for the “best deal” ticket package to do the 3-4 activities available). Plus it took us over an hour and a half just to get in and drive through the thing, which sounds like it would be great because that’s more time for the money spent right? But because the displays were so lame it just made the entire experience more painful - that’s an hour and a half of my life I can’t get back. So disappointed.
Jennifer Browne — Google review
The drive thru was not the greatest for being marked off. Got turned around but it is part of the ride. Lol. Had a blast feeding the deer and cows. What a treat for young people and all. Thumbs up from all of us.
Ronnie McElroy — Google review
The lights were spectacular. Definitely worth your money. The village was also great for kids and much easier to feed the animals. The drive through animal was a bit hectic. The deer just run terrified. I felt bad and left. All that CO2 they breath in. Do the walk thru. So much better. Kids love it.

We have so much fun , this place it’s a most go if you’re visiting the upstate or
you’re from around , it’s amazing how you can touch and interact with deers cows and bulls, I feed them with my own hands 😁
Irene J — Google review
Lots of light decorations and an enclosed field full of deer to feed. They were all very cute, and so were all of the animals in Santa’s workshop. I only knocked off a star because it seemed like they were lacking some animals this year. I do not know the reason.

Lights are better than years past, and santas village was expanded but we went on Thanksgiving so it was slow and understandably understaffed but newbies don't understand the flow of the reindeer forest. KEEP MOVING!
Located in the heart of historic Greenville County, Dark Corner Distillery specializes in crafting locally-produced spirits. Whether you're interested in traditional moonshine or something a little more experimental, Dark CornerDistillery is sure to have what you're looking for.

At a whopping $5 dollars a person to taste 4 amazing spirits AND a complimentary shot glass, you can't go wrong! Matt was behind the bar, and he was such a wonderful person to talk to! Amazing energy, super friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area! Had to leave with a bottle and we'll definitely be back!

What a wonderful place to stumble upon! Was visiting the area from out of town and heard about the distillery and that they offered tastings. Tried most of their offerings and am very impressed with the quality of their vodka, rum, gin and whiskey! The bar tender was also extremely knowledgeable and interesting to talk to. I only wish I had not been flying so I could have brought back a bottle or two. Will definitely visit this place again next time I'm in Greenville!

We aren't really into distillery tours but a local said we should go check it out. So we did. He opted for the flight and I opted for the 2 drinks. Both $10 each. My two drinks were great. Nice mixes. His slight was good too. He would definitely return.
Nice staff. Friendly service. Clean place. Checked in on YELP and received a FREE KEYCHAIN!!! Love it.
Stop in and look it over. If it doesn't sound like your usual, stop anyway. It is a great place.

The Greenville Zoo is a small, no-frills zoo that offers visitors a chance to learn about local and exotic wildlife. The zoo has a variety of walking paths, playgrounds, courts, and more to make it a great place for the whole family to enjoy.
We visited on Friday 4/8/2022 - We arrived at the Zoo around 10:30 am. I did not have to wait long to purchase my ticket even though there was a small line. My daughter and I spent a good hour - hour & half, venturing around the open exhibits. Our favorite was the giraffes ! 🦒🦒🦒 The "baby" one kept running around between the adults, it was so cute! The Ocelot was super cute! The Leopard was GORGEOUS 🖤 Some animals were not present & some things were being built, so there is some construction - That just means more animals are coming , so let's be patient while we wait! 🤍 Several different playgrounds on site. Gift shop is reasonably priced as well. We didn't not purchase any food or drinks. There was a shaved ice truck also out front when we left. It was a nice thing to enjoy with my child on a Friday ! ✨️🙌🤍 They do hold special dates & seasonal events. Membership & group rates are available per request! Check out their website before heading out. I recommend the Greenville Zoo to locals & those passing through ! 🦒🦎🐸🐺🐒🐼🐆🤍✨️

Our family loves the zoo. It's a great zoo, not too big and we've never been when it's crowded. We get family passes every year. Everyone there is so friendly and easy to talk to. I've never had any issues with cleanliness in the bathrooms and the playground that's in the front of the zoo is great. The playground has different sections. We love the Greenville Zoo!! Beautiful location nestled in the hills, with a lot of trees for shade. Big enough but not too big and very well put together. There's even a small kids park mid-way through to stop and get some energy out. Great picnic area and additional larger park right outside the Zoo. We can definitely spend 1-2 hours here on a nice day.
Jade Lantz — Google review
A beautiful experience, with well cared for animals and clean atmosphere. Even with the little bit of renovating going on, the animals were quite relaxed and seemed happy. The kids had a blast! A great little seating area for snacks, and a large park for the little ones to let off some energy. Stay until near closing and you can get some interactions with the cats as they await dinnertime.

As someone who has frequented bigger zoos in the past, I think this zoo is quality for the price of entry and the size of the space available. Some of the enclosures need to be updated and the exhibit descriptions are better for children than adults. There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of engaging enrichment for the animals since many of them were facing the back of their enclosures (the keeper side) clearly waiting to be fed. I think there are certainly better zoos in the southeast, but again, I think this one is on par for what you pay.

It was okay for a small zoo. We enjoyed seeing the leopard and orangutans the most. My grandson was thrilled because he loves animals and those were two he had not seen before. There were also lions which he always enjoys. Only one small snack bar is offered. It only takes about an hour to traverse the whole zoo so we were able to see all his favorites two or three times.

Small but fun zoo great family fun. There are lots of different animals for their size. Worth the trip if you have small kids and are trying to entertain them for a while.

Greenville Zoo is small but kept nice and clean. They have many different animals, my favorites were red pandas and baby orangutan and the leopard. Unfortunately it was a cold day so giraffes were inside and we didn’t see any, same with lions. But that means we will have to be back.
Olga Gloria Sundy — Google review
It's a small zoo but well done - most areas look new, even the sections being remodeled! So while it doesn't have a lot of space, it seems that it's got some good donors. The animals look reasonably happy and relaxed and they even have a big African lion, giraffes, and a leopard. The red pandas are super cute and active, some bat-eared foxes are super cute, and there are several birds of prey and a reptile house.
I was mainly there to take a walk on a pretty day, and it only takes about 30 minutes to do a completely circuit, pausing to look at most of the animals. I did another lap in reverse, which rewarded me with different views of some animals. It is on a hill, so you are walking (and possibly pushing a stroller) up and down some decent hills. I recommend heading uphill first, then winding your way down and around to the alligator and farm animals.

I love all the improvements to the Zoo. Our granddaughter had such a wonderful time. She was literally squealing with delight at all the different animals. All the animals and their enclosures were clean and healthy. The reptile exhibit was outstanding! The staff was friendly, especially the lady in the gift shop. Keep up the excellent work!

Wonderful zoo! Well designed and small enough for kids to walk around comfortably but plenty to see! Took us around an hour to walk though the whole park. My kids really enjoyed seeing the alligator, giraffes, lions, and monkeys. There's also a nice park right next to the zoo.

Very cute little zoo. Took only about 2hrs of pittling though. There wasn't much but the few they had were cool. Expected bigger and the gift shop they have wasn't stocked and bare. Could have been better but was a good little detour. Been to the Detroit Zoo in Michigan and that's an all day thing! Which I expected but it's ok.

It's small but cute. Perfect to go to & just walk around for an hour or so... Price is fair, too. Go early or on cooler days, as with any place with animals, you won't see much movement from them when it's really hot outside. The baby giraffe is adorable!
Tatiana Moore — Google review
Unexpectedly great zoo! For a zoo on the smaller side, it was great! The animals are situated in a way where they are easily visible and the setting is very natural. The zoo is easily walkable with small kids and all the animals were out! We even saw a lion roar!

We got free tickets and went here over Memorial weekend... it was sprinkling, so they weren't busy at all. It's a small zoo and doesn't take long to walk the whole thing. The gardens are beautiful and well taken care of and so are the animals. We always enjoy the giraffes, lions and monkeys, but this time they had some sort of lizzard. He loves people they said, and he followed my grandson all over near the window. It made his day! It was our 2nd time visiting this zoo and we will definitely be back.

A great small zoo with a really nice reptile house. Some different animals than Riverbanks or Atlanta have. Tickets are $11 for adults and $8 for kids.
Beth McK — Google review
Small zoo but very nice. Not too many animals, several different kinds of monkeys, lions, giraffe, leopard, birds, flamingos. Cost was $14 for an adult. Very clean and well kept. Easy parking.

Always a good time here. Small enough for little ones but still has exotic animals. Not to mention Cleveland park and the swamp rabbit trail right in the front yard. Tickets are fairly priced but the gift shop is pricey - still the money goes to the zoo so it’s not hard to spend anyway. Not to mention, downtown Greenville is right around the corner.

We were doing recon for a family picnic. While we didn't visit the zoo, the covered picnic areas were large enough which were located across from the zoo entrance. The nearby bathroom was a plus as well.

Cool little zoo. Not as big as some of the there’s we have seen, but a nice place to spend the morning around Greenville. Great addition to the surrounding park area. Definitely will be back again.

Such a great place to visit for a couple of hours. Smaller than the Atlanta zoo, but also a fraction of the cost and crowds! We always have a blast!

Really cute local zoo if you don’t feel like fighting to crowds at Riverbanks. They are putting in a lot of work to make it even nicer over this next year. I can’t wait to see everything when it’s all done.

What a fun, little zoo! Just perfect for young children and adults alike. Loved all the play areas and I’m excited to bring my family back here to visit and play. It was a rainy day when we spent time at the zoo, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Well maintained.

Palmetto Distillery, located in Anderson, South Carolina, was the state's first legal moonshine distillery. The collection of spirits includes award-winning flavored moonshines like Pina Colada and Peach, craft whiskeys, and ready-to-drink cocktails. Visitors can enjoy free tours of the facility to learn about the distilling process and participate in a choose-your-own-adventure tasting experience.
Our family had an excellent experience at Palmetto Distillery! Kudos to Nick who was amazingly accommodating to our little one—gave him crayons to color, showed him where the lizards hung out outside, and put out cones outside for him to play! All of the liquors were excellent. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Backstage Peach Mint! The whiskey, lemon drop, and peach were my next favorites, followed closely by bananas foster and Cinnapepper. Highly recommend, excellent staff who go above and beyond and top-notch tastings and product.

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The moonshine is by far the best we’ve tried. We did the tasting and if I could I would give them 10 stars.

We weren't too far from here so why not stop by and grab some goodies!! Tastings are $5 a flight. Rootbeer and Salted Caramel Moonshine are my favorites. Good, friendly service. And the bartender was very patient with us!!

Outstanding Product and Service. We really enjoyed the flavors we chose. What was exceptional in our morning coffee and hot chocolate was the butter pecan cream. The only goofy thing I did was I mixed up the lids and put the pecan one on the salted carmel moonshine and diluted it with the pecan cream, so my 24 year old daughter who has allergies to nuts, cannot now have any of the salted carmel. My mistake! Thank you Everyone at Palmetto... ROB OLEAR, Independent Actor and Tennis Coach/Pro BUFFALO NY , soon to be resident of SC this year, probably in Anderson/ Greenville Area

Found this local distillery on a visit to SC. They have a storied history and the moonshine is not something we see every day so we spent hundreds $$ on a variety of bottles and head back home. Even told friends & family and they spent hundreds $$.
Fast forward and we're locals now. Imagine our surprise when we find Palmetto moonshine on the shelf at the local liquor store. Turns out the $35 a quart moonshine the distillery sells is on the shelf at the liquor store for under $20.
We like the spirits, the folks at the distillery are nice enough, too bad we feel ripped off.

The server was a bit slow to get us started but after that the experience was 10/10. Tastings are cheap and they offer many delicious flavors, the building has a ton of history that you can learn all about and the production process is in clear view so it’s recommended to come on Thursdays when they’re running the still

Excellent staff and product. Did a tasting. Great variety available. Staff super knowledgeable even putting my selections in a good order. Premix margs and bloody Marys available along with jellies, hot sauce, and BBQ sauce. Sadly lacking on minis in both the liquor, jellies, and other items. Would have liked to taste non-alcoholic items as well but this was not available. Neat location and shop.

I had fun at our first Halloween Comedy and Cocktail night. Unfortunately the sound around us was so loud that we could barely hear the comedians. But the atmosphere was great, everybody was fun dressed up, the drinks have been great (only just a bit pricey). But overall we will come back.
RJ Rockers Brewing Company & Restaurant boasts an extensive range of microbrew options and offers tasting tours from Thursday to Saturday, as well as frequent live music shows. It is a dog-friendly establishment with a designated area for furry friends. Their Deli Korner menu is fantastic and pairs perfectly with their impressive selection of beers. The staff is known for being incredibly friendly and accommodating, making it a welcoming spot for families and beer enthusiasts alike.
Best bartenders kept the cup full and the conversation flowing. Whitney & Jenn! Thank you for the good time.. with that being said let’s talk about the manager, wow all

Really enjoy this brewery. The wheat/peach based Son of a Peach is amazing. It used to be available around Norris Lake in Tennessee but it is no longer distributed to this part of the country so I made a run from Cincinnati exclusively for picking up several cases. Well worthy the effort Also enjoyed the fish and chips which were perfect and brought out extremely fast. Great staff, great facility. Highly recommended.

RJ's has an amazing beer selection, everything that we've tried so far was absolutely delicious. The food menu is not too big, it seems that they like to change it up once in a while. However, so far we've never had a bad experience. Everything tastes fresh and very yummy.

This review could change, but it was only 6:30 and they were out of most of their menu food. It took a while to get service, but this could’ve been just a bad day. The beer I did have, which was the first snow was actually really good, I’ll be buying it again. We’ll come back and I’ll give it another review after I’ve had their food.

Had a great time at Rocker Brewing Company! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the chicken sandwich was delicious, though a bit dry—make sure to ask for sauce when ordering. We did not come at a very good time to catch this place at its best, so I don't think we got to see how much fun this place could be. We'll definitely be back to check out RJs a few more times, and I hope to be able to bang out a solid 5 stars for them.

We had such a very lovely time at City Scapes winery this afternoon.
The server who greeted us was so warm and friendly, and she guided us through a really fun, relaxed, enjoyable tasting. Sometimes at wine tastings I feel like I’m supposed to be super proper and fancy :P so it was fun to laugh and chat and relax. Her shift must have ended halfway through our tasting because another server took over, and she was also lovely and gave us a lot of great info about the last several wines.
The wines themselves were great—a good variety, and all delicious. We snagged a bottle, took our wine glasses with us (they are included in the price of the tasting) and then strolled around and visited the goats and pig. Such a fun date!

Fun afternoon wine tasting close to home. SC is not known for their wines, but City Scape takes a creative approach with small batch wines fused with local fruit. The tasting room is beautiful and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food offering is limited but tasty. They easily accommodated our gluten allergy. There was also a food truck the day we visited. The grounds around the tasting room are still maturing. The reason for the four stars is I found the wines to be good but not great (often one dimensional). I will definitely go back and look forward to seeing this venue thrive.

First time at City Scape since the expansion. Very nice and well decorated. We enjoyed date night and the new building. Be careful walking into the courtyard. The cement squares are loose and you can fall because some move when you walk. We had a great time and loved the wine and took a few bottles home. The tasting could be served with a tad more wine to be able to really taste and chew the wine more, but other than that it was great. Hopefully the patio will be open next time to walk out on. We will be back when it gets warmer.

Everything from the planning process, communication and the day of the event was fantastic! I held a work gathering at City scape for my staff and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I started the process with contacting the Winery. Tess, the Director of event planning was very helpful in helping me coordinate the entire event. She was knowledgeable, friendly, prompt in responding and answered all my questions. She even helped me choose how to cater the event in a budget friendly manner. When we arrived the cottage and outdoor area was gorgeous! Everything was set up perfectly and Anthony our bar tender was polite, enthusiastic and catered to all of our needs. I highly recommend City scape to those who have not been! This was not our first time here but my first time hosting an event and they definitely exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be back!

Loved it! Katie cotton couldn’t say more amazing things about the owners while I got my hair trial done for our wedding. We were already excited to try it before and it lived up to all the standards ! The atmosphere was beautiful! We did a Saturday wine tasting and ended up with only four bottles to take home. Would have taken home so much more but they don’t ship out of state. (Only bummer of the evening).
Would like them to be our wine of choice for our wedding and still need to ask them but we loved this place !
(The staff….. couldn’t brag about them more !) We are business owners and appreciate our staff so bragging about how others handle their staff is important. From the front entrance to even staff asking if they wanted to take our pictures for us … they did such a great job!
We will be back next time we’re in Greenville !

If I could give this place 10 stars I would gladly do so. I searched for a long time for a venue to host a rehearsal luncheon and was very frustrated until I met Bri, the event coordinator at City Scape Winery. She told me she would take care of everything and she literally did. In just a few short conversations, she had the whole luncheon planned with a delicious menu of hors d'oeuvres, a beautifully presented sandwich, a wine tasting, and a tour of the winery. The service was impeccable. The facility is gorgeous. The staff is so friendly. Bri even personalized our event by having a sign with the bride's and groom's names as we entered the venue. Everyone was beyond impressed and it started the wedding festivities off perfectly. We also met the owners and they were so fun to talk with and very knowledgable about wine. This place is a gold mine. Well done City Scape!

So I finally got a chance to go to this place I've been dying to go to. Very pretty. Love the fact that they have food trucks if you don't want what they have on the menu. I'm not a cheese eater. It was my niece birthday so my sister RSVP a table for us. The greeters were very nice. Our table was occupied in error. They were very polite to move the group and seat us. My sister ordered a charcuterie board and our server asked if she wanted to start a tab. My sister only asked the lady if they were going to keep her card. She said no. Then there was a hold. She asked why was the board $50. The lady explained it was just a hold. Apparently that was inappropriate cause my other niece over heard the server tell another to watch out that was the "GHETTO TABLE" and to "WATCH OUT". Ma'am your hair is blue but the table of black woman are ghetto. My niece mood changed but she didn't tell us why. She only told us after the wine tasting portion was over. Otherwise they would not have gotten my money. I can't give 1 star for what 1 person did but she needs a reality check. That's definitely a 1 and done. I was only fond of 1 wine. I'll stick to my Josh Pinot Noir.

Great small family owned winery with a fantastic story and really nice wines! I went with a group of ladies, and we had booked in for the morning tour on a Saturday. I definitely highly recommend it. It's a lovely place to grab a glass of wine, some good food from either their kitchen or a food truck if one is on site and relax and enjoy the property.
The only confusing portion was caused by a pretty complete lack of communication from the host checking us in that day. We found out after the tour had already started that they wanted the tour groups to select a glass of wine from the bar beforehand to enjoy on your tour, and to wait either in the bar or in the courtyard itself for the tour to start. That one small misstep has no impact on my rating at all, though. They're absolutely deserving of 5 stars!

We had an amazing time visiting City Scape Winery! I am from Virginia and my husband and I loved visiting wineries and even dabbled in making our own while living there. I first contacted City Scape Winery to inquire about hosting my wedding reception. They were incredibly welcoming and set up an appointment to tour the venue. When I say I could not have asked for a better time.. I COULD NOT have asked for a better time!! They were so polite and very well organized the day of my event. The days leading up to my event Bri, the event planner with City Scape, was in direct contact with me to prepare and deliver exactly what we needed to meet our expectations. We had an event itinerary and it went perfectly!!! The wine of course was amazing, the venue was so beautiful that we used minimal decorations because the venue speaks for itself! I highly recommend attending an event with City Scape. I’m so thankful I trusted them with such a big event in my life and they did not disappoint. I will forever remember their kindness and professionalism.
Croft State Park is a vast expanse of land covering an area of 7,000 acres. It has various hiking and horse trails stretching up to 12 miles in total length. The park features two lakes that provide a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. There is also an equestrian center within the park's vicinity. One of the most popular trails in the park is the nature trail, which spans 1.5 miles and runs alongside a creek offering stunning views of nature at its best.
3/16/2022. I'll start with the negative, which possibly should reduce this review to 4 STARS: the trail signs are terrible. They are so bad that they will deter hikers who have experienced just how poorly marked the trails are from hiking in Croft as much as they might wish to. With map in hand, and referring to the map dozens of times, a year ago my wife and I went on a 1.5 mile hike (well defined on the paper map). By the time we returned we'd liked well over 4 miles. No big deal, but irritating consider the careful effort we made to follow the trail. Additionally, Croft has been very busy with woodlands maintenance, evidence of forestry mulching is extensive, mulching deadwood to reduce risk of out-of-control forest fires. This is all good with the exception that their work has obliterated sections of many trails. Without functional signs it is now harder to determine where the trails are. Croft State Park: greatly increase and improve the trails signs!!!
We stayed in the park 3 days recently in our RV and really enjoyed the freshness of the well maintained campground. It was clean, employees were very helpful, accommodating, and friendly. The restrooms/bathhouses were tidy, clean, well stocked and warm.
Extensive improvements to walkways near and around the lake, retaining walls, and newly installed benches and swings were everywhere.
The asphalt roads are in poor condition, but consider all the good features, as well as the great price for staying overnight, it balances out to FIVE STARS.
Fix the stupid trail sign system!

Gorgeous, clean, peaceful, historic, and has something for everyone! It has playgrounds, historic graveyards, trails, a big stunning lake, a river, places to camp (tent or RV), ride horses, canoe, fish, etc! There's a little office with welcoming employees to point you in the direction you want to go.
My friend and I roamed around the lake and met super sweet families (it was Spring Break in Spartanburg) who were there to respectfully enjoy the place. It's a safe place to explore, and we're definitely returning... hopefully soon!

What a hidden gem! Maybe it’s not hidden? But why did it take me so long to finally visit this beautiful place?! The lake is so peaceful and the nature trail was the perfect hike for someone who doesn’t want just a flat easy trail but also isn’t trying to climb up the side of a mountain. It’s a little narrow in parts but none of it was difficult. Also, the nature trail is a 1.5 mile loop that runs along a creek and is just one of the hiking trails there, they also have shorter trails and longer ones (some for horseback riding too). They also have kayaks and paddle boards available for rent at Lake Craig. We can’t wait to return.

Great place for hiking, camping, fishing, etc. This is a beautiful place to get your workout in. Need your steps? This is your place, just wear sunglasses, sunblock, a hat, insect spray and hiking boots recommended.... do not wear your nice shoes, tennis shoes or your best shoes or they will get ruined. Bring your water bottle, you will need it. The restrooms by the main office are very nice, air conditioning and have showers. Dogs are allowed on leash only.

Love this park for many reasons and being a Croft is just one.
If you are new to the area or a novice hiker, keep an eye out for snakes. I know that may sound obvious but my dog and I stumbled upon this massive snake this morning (7/4/23).
Check out the park signs on which snakes are native to the area and/or get an app to help you identify which are venomous and non-venomous.
Be safe and enjoy the beautiful area!

Great state park with 20 miles of trails. Tons of camp sites, but the first set by the office are a little cramped for my taste. The sites by the lake are a little larger and seemed to be more spread out.
The lake is about 2 feet lower than normal right now, but you could literally watch the fish jumping out of the water.
The staff was very friendly and the restrooms were spotless.
You can access the Palmetto trail from this park.

Pretty clean bathhouses, could use a bit of updating but they really aren't bad. The lake was down and a bridge was out which limited our adventures.... and the dust from the dirt road areas who have been would have not been fun! All in All, we did have a great time and the park staff and rangers were very helpful and amazing

It's impossible to do everything that is available at this state park. I'm surprised it's not a national park. There are so many things to do - kayak, swim, fish, camp, hike, bike, ride a horse... it's endless. The park is beautiful and pretty mountainous. We walked the nature trail, but we will DEFINITELY be coming back to kayak, swim, and walk some other trails. The lake is huge and provides many opportunities. I would consider the park a camping paradise. I cannot express how amazing this park is!

I always enjoy my time at Croft. There are so many trails and I still haven't explored them all. You do need to bear in mind that while you can hike them all, some also allow cyclists and horses. So if you're on a horse trail you may have to dodge their business. Just be mindful and it's not a big deal.
The trails are gorgeous year round.

Spacious campsites! Water/Electric only. They have options for pull+through or back-in. Also have printing camping, did not visit that area.
Stayed in the smaller numerical sequence side. The other half is about a mile away and has a view of the lake. Sites 20-21 is a double site, great if camping with another family. We were in 21 individually, but did not feel as if we were in each other's space. Only negative about our site or positive, is that the bath house and bathroom was behind us, so people on occasion would walk through our site, but the site was large enough that it didn't matter to us.
Dump offered a hand sanitizer dispenser, that's a first and it was operational 😁
Lots of horse people, they must have done good horse trails.
It's about an 8-10 minute drive from main gate to actual camping areas.
Would go again!

The park has a lot of history and plenty of space to roam. Trails for bikes, hikes, and horses abound. Kayak and paddle board rentals are available. The views around the lake are gorgeous, adventurous around the creek. I stayed for 4 nights; both camping loops have water and power hookups, 20/30’s really serve me best and this park has them. The showers and bathrooms are clean and nicely functional; a warm shower is always a treat!

Update: 9/24/23 we are home and missing this place already!! We will definitely be back soon!!....
*We stayed from Thursday until Sunday and plan to return for a weeks stay sometime in the near future with the rest of our close family and friends, as we all enjoy camping now as a family activity to make memories with each other and our children. This park was so awesome that we are already planning a big family stay as soon as possible*
We had the BEST time here while camping for the first time in our camper as a family of 4. (My Husbands cousin, son, and her boyfriend, along with his daughter, joined us and stayed in a tent Saturday night...we also had a family friend stop by and eat on Friday and another family friend came Saturday for dinner and a day trip hanging at the river and fishing on Lake Craig. They also loved it! My husband and our 2 boys were thrilled with the fishing opportunities, the river being close to our site, and this section of the Palmetto Trail.(SO far we have been to the Peak, Newberry, Prosperity, and, Pomaria sections of the Palmetto trail and we are only getting started!! I, too, loved ALL if it. Our site was perfect, all the campers around us were like neighbors we had known forever, after about 9pm it was very quiet and so relaxing and peaceful, the restroom/bathhouse was always clean(we do have a bathroom in our camper but preferred the Bath house because it was bigger and gave us a chance to all take a shower at one time considering we had so much to do that it was always late before we showered and went to bed)The office staff, especially Teresa, were amazing. They were BEYOND helpful, very kind, and accommodating to anything we needed or wanted while here. We never got a chance to rent a boat or kayak, but the fact that it's only 15$ is a great deal for such a beautiful area. We are on a mission to visit every state park in SC and they gave us a book with ALL the parks listed and a place to have each park you visit give you a stamp for a fun keepsake. We, of course, received our very first stamp here. We are headed to Lake Hartwell State park next and we are very excited to have this opportunity as a family to make some amazing memories across the state my Husband and I were born, raised, and grew up in. We do plan on moving in the next 5 years or so, and whatever state we choose to move to, we already know new adventures await us!!!
1st camping trip here with my husband and 2 boys, and it has been amazing so far. We arrived on a Thursday and are staying until Sunday. We also were running behind on Thursday and arrived after the office was closed, and it was NO problem at all. We called, and we were told how to get in with a gate code on our receipt and told we could check in Friday morning. We got lot #5 for the camper and lot 6 for a tent, which was a perfect spot for 6 located directly across from the shower/restroom. We found the river after walking the Palmetto Trail today and plan on spending more time there tomorrow. So far, this has been the best vacation we have had....

Huge, spread out state park (former military base) with 50 miles of trails for hikers, horses, and mountain bikes. Camping, fishing, picnic shelters, lake for non-motorized boats, horse stables and horse ring.
Loretta Divine — Google review
More geared towards horse riding, there were still some nice trails. But they could use a little love... the nature trail's signs were all broken or fallen down. Pay attention because some of the trails are overgrown, and you could get lost. Tried to enjoy the lake, but the blasting music from the campers ruined the experience.

This is a long time favorite of mine. When I lived in SC I would camp here ALL the time, taking horses and dogs in tow. Now I visit every time I’m in the area. The trails are well marked and well maintained. Campsites are always in great shape and the bathhouse is usually clean. I love all the water access for horses and dogs to play in. If you’re lucky you’ll visit on a horse show weekend, they are always beautiful to watch!

I enjoyed the mile long loop walk around the fort ruins and where the town had been. The many signs along the walk helps learn about the siege and life back in the revolution days. There are other trails along the old roads which I’d like to take if I have the chance to return one day.

This National Historic Site was meticulously maintained and had great educational information centered around the area's Revolutionary War events. The Junior Ranger program was robust and helped us navigate the site (it was mentioned there might even be a Bark Ranger program soon for leashed pets!)
The park has extremely clean bathrooms and a working water fountain that includes a water bottle filler and doggy bowl.
In addition to beautifully maintained fort sites there is a well labeled and paved trail between them. This would be accessible for wheelchair users or strollers. The dog and people friendly trail is available outside visitor center hours and you can even get your National Park Passport Stamp then too thanks to the outdoor case holding it.

We enjoyed this National Historic Site a lot more than we thought. Lots of rich history here. Fantastic nature walking path and the staff was very friendly and informative. Can do the full site and walk in about 1.5 hours if reading all the history, including the one in the gift shop.

I learned alot! Very well run. Grounds are well kept. Clean and the park ranger was very nice and helpful. Spent 2 and half hours there. Enjoyed! If you like American revolutionary history I highly recommend Ninety Six!

This It's just a beautiful place to visit , very interesting and a very good place for children. This is a very beautiful place to visit in pleasant weather
This historic site is a beautiful well laid out park with a one mile loop trail That brings you past very well done recreations of colonial era structures that existed on this site that included a palisaded Fort and earthworks with cannon and a log house The trail also encloses the original 96 South Carolina village that existed in colonial times There were very many informational historic plaques All along the walking trail that were very well illustrated There is a no admission charge to visit this historic historic site but donations are welcome at the visitor center but no one presses you for them. This is a great beautiful place to visit especially with children Especially in cool fall weather

Another incredible battle site of a place that shaped the American Revolution. We have so much to be thankful for here in the US and it should be our duty to learn about how it came to be. It’s a great place to walk around and venture the woods. Its a paved trail and easy going

This was an excellent day and place to visit. We hiked 5 miles and only saw a few people. The history of the place and the area provided in nice abbreviated detail. Quiet hike, plenty of birds. This place is a grst day trip.

One of our favorite Revolutionary War parks! It’s well maintained and it offers a lot of great resources to learn more about the history and all the different events that happened during the years! It’s fascinating to walk through the field where it all happened and how everything worked! I definitely recommend checking this park out!

Ninety-six played an important role in helping the British control the Carolina back country during the Revolutionary War. Little is left of the original town, only a grassy outline of where buildings once stood and the remnants of wagon roads. An earthen fort protecting the area can be viewed from the walking trail, but again is a remnant with little more than a grassy outline remaining. Good for a quick visit if you enjoy history.

Really interesting historical site. Loads of trails and signs saying what happened and where. Easy maps so you don’t get lost. You can walk around freely or with a guide who will tell you more information about the area and the history. It’s a great place for families and people who have kids. It’s a safe environment and they have restrooms and plenty of parking. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone who is handicapped.

Really interesting battlefield and site. Loop walk, so it isn’t overtaxing. The visitor’s center film gives a nice overview of what happened there. 2 rangers were present when we visited and a few local walkers in and out. We usually really enjoy speaking with the rangers, but both mostly stayed in the back office most of the time we were there. We felt this was a bit of a miss for a ranger to engage our (older) kids on some discussion of the site.

Beautiful and historic battlefield. It's one of the nicest battlefields I've been to. The path throughout the field is very well maintained, with signs that are new and easy to read. The loop is 1 mile and has some steep uphill sections, so make sure you have proper footwear.

I enjoyed this Historic site. It contains alot of history and a great walking trail to educate you on the history of this small town. I definitely recommend. Plenty of this site is forested and it's a long trail. Rangers were nice and I definitely believe this is worth the visit. You learn alot about the revolutionary War and how it impacted South Carolina and Greenwood County.

Last night was our first concert at the Newberry Opera House. Wow is all I can say. The moment we walked into the door we were greeted warmly by the staff, which included the director of the opera house!
The facility was spotless, the sound was clear as a bell, and the Sierra Hull and Justin Moses show was about as good as a concert could possibly be.
If you’re looking for an intimate venue to see a show, this is the place
We can’t wait to see another show at the Newberry Opera House!
Tommy Kasperski — Google review
This place is the best facility in the neighborhood for concerts. Great variety, and every seat has incredible acoustics. I got a tip from a patron the last time I went. He said the "very best" acoustics were in the back of the center seats under the cover. The ceiling there adds to the overall sound by "enclosing" the sound. Like sitting inside a high-quality loud speaker. Honestly, I didn't think you could improve the acoustics no matter where you sat. Looking forward to trying that next time we go. Beverages a little pricey.

The theatre is a cute one, all good seats, and most of the staff is friendly and helpful. But beware, you are hot allowed to have “too much” of a good time. The theatre nazi’s will be chasing you down and literally almost running across the theatre to tell you to sit down or put your camera up. I’ve been to many many shows and performances of all types and they ALWAYS announce at the beginning of the show if you are allowed to take photos or videos. Well they did not at the Buddy Holly show and it was very distracting to see the staff running around telling people to put their phones down. And when the audience wanted to participate, the staff was telling people to sit down. When the performers were LOVING it and asking people to get up and participate. I have also been a performer and still am and we love when the audience reacts and looks like they are having a good time. It made the experience not as great as it could have been. But the performers were great even though I know they can slightly see the movement around from the white shirts. And yes in a small theatre they can see YOU. Very rude to be honest and disrespectful of the talent. Please just announce it at the beginning, while your kissing up to the tour groups.

Drove 2.5 hours to this venue for a really good show. Nice place with even nicer staff. Photosensitive people should be aware of the flashing lights on the audience during some of the concerts here.

Pleasant and helpful staff, beautiful venue. Nice blend of events, a bit pricey for the area though. clean/well stocked restrooms, refreshments served for most of show, acoustics were off tonight but perhaps that can be adjusted per performance. I’ve heard other patrons have same complaint. Is why I have deferred some events and gone to Charlotte, greenville, ATL. Not sure if is just design of venue ( which is a fabulous restored old theater), modifications, or sound adjustment altogether. I am told it can be adjusted but it may be up to the performers.

The Wizard of Oz was a great show. The kids did a fantastic job. Being assisted by a nice worker can make such a difference in your experience. When someone is friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares about making sure you're taken care of, it creates such a positive atmosphere. It's so refreshing to encounter someone who goes above and beyond to assist you with a smile. Bentleigh Croom was kind enough to be in my assistance.

Such a great state park. Definitely one of the best in the state. The best time to go is in the fall when the Autumn breeze is out and the trees are a beautiful color. It's only $3 per adult to get in, but just get a state park pass and go all the time. They have these adorable cabins that you can rent and they have tent areas if you wanna rough it. It's an awesome place and people should utilize it.

Many of the camp spots are about to be unavailable for renovations, they are much needed. The spots are small and close to each other, but really a nice place to stay. Views at sunset/sunrise are great. Light pollution at night, though if that's important to you. This was our second trip and won't be our last.

This was my first time tent camping as an adult. It was comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and accessible. I can't say more good things. One tiny issue...I wish people were not allowed to play their tvs or be outside talking loudly after 11 and before 7am. It was a vacation for us, whereas I get others probably live here. It just would have been nice to get a good night sleep if not for that. Our entire stay was fun and relaxing.
Alison Clemency — Google review
The only thing that I didn't like (which was my own fault) is that we got a R.V. camping site. Which meant a mid-size hill to walk up and down because we tent camped. The bathroom could use a path to it as well, but we're camping so can't really complain about that much. Other than that the scenery was beautiful, fishing was great and company was wonderful. It was quiet and just what the doctor ordered!

We stayed in Camper Cabin # 10 and it was the perfect location. Great view of the lake and easy access to the lake for fishing or swimming. It was convenient to the bathhouse. The cabin was the perfect size for our family of four. Our boys loved the bunk beds. The cabin had a mini fridge and microwave and a nice covered porch. It was a very nice park with nice hiking trails.

Stayed in the Islander RV campground. We love the park. Only downside is it is very difficult to park a boat trailer with a tow vehicle at most spots. There is limited overflow parking and some people leave boats tied up on shore. The park is well maintained, super friendly staff, clean and well kept. Spots are mostly full on weekends.

We just picked this place randomly and it was worth the drive. There were plenty of places to cookout. And each spot had a nice little cove to swim. This State Park has nice camp areas too. Will definitely have to come back for more than just the day!

3rd time staying here and it's always so nice. It's Hard to get a lake front site but if you can It's worth it! We prefer the Anglers camp as it seems to be quieter and sites are larger. Also all the sites there have full hookups

The cabin was great except for the fact that the minifridge didn't work and the blinds were tore up, giving us no privacy. The service was wonderful because they did send someone to immediately replace the fridge, I guess they didn't have extra blinds laying around, so they didn't replace them. We just ended up hanging a towel from the window inside to cover the huge hole in the blinds. The location was wonderful and relaxing, not too many loud guests around. We were close to the bathroom, which was nice, and had a little private fishing hole (except for a few boats that came in here and there). We stayed with family in cabins 2 and 3.

Very nice and clean State Park. The campsites were well kept up and the views were amazing. The roads in the camping areas were very narrow, but not unmanageable. I would definitely Camp here again and recommend this park to anyone. My only negative was that the weekends are loud. Music playing until midnight and the sound of voices carried throughout the park.

My wife and I LOVED this state park. We've traveled all over the United States in an RV and this is one of the best state parks we have stayed at. We were in site 60 which was right on the water and we had a blast. There was a nice hiking trail nearby in the park and we had a blast swimming with our yellow lab, Luna in the water. It was early may and the water wasn't too cold. The view was pretty, the campsite was quiet, and everyone seemed friendly. There was plenty of stuff within 20 or 30 minutes, like a grocery store, liquor store, beer taproom, and restaurants. We would definitely go back here especially with our stand up paddle board because the lake is huge, nice and beautiful. Would 100% definitely recommend.

I stayed on the group primitive site with GWHSC. We stayed for two nights. It was a great location and spot. The bathrooms were still within walking distance. Everyone was nice. We were able to get floats and kayaks out on the water at our site too.
Everyone in the tackle shop was nice and they have everything you'll forget to bring on your camping trip! Also, great selection of souvenirs and stickers! I collect stickers and silicone cups from all the SPs.

Our site (81) was very challenging to level our small camper. The electric hookup was very close to road and the pavement was bulged in areas. Many other campers did not follow leash guidelines and we were charged by several different dogs while walking our own. Also, some campers were extremely inconsiderate with loud music and bright lights on throughout the night. There seemed to be very little security presence and our neighbors had someone cut off their water and power during the night. Beautiful views and friendly park ranger (Sam). We enjoyed our stay but felt that there was room for improvement.

Dreher Island is a beautiful calm peaceful campground. It is our favorite for our family to gather and enjoy fun times. We are senior citizens so we aren't using it for our party house.
At other state parks we have encountered over zealous rangers who are borderline harassers!! Dreher Island We have not had that problem! Their rules are doable and most people abide.
I would suggest that showers in bath houses have lockable doors! There is a strong safety hazard with only a shower curtain hanging not only for ladies but men. I personally encountered a young man who had had too much to drink coming to the ladies bathroom! I was just stepping out of the shower had already put my night clothes on and open the curtain and there he stood! A Very confused alcoholic! I instructed him firmly to leave and go to the other side of the building!! He left with no incident.

This is one of the best state parks in South Carolina. My wife and I have camped here in our travel trailer as well as in the camper cabins, and it's quiet and beautiful.
The camper sites are paved and level, which is surprisingly rare. Very easy to set up the camper and not have to fool with leveling blocks. I'm surprised they only have 30 amp service (at least at my site), but 30 is good enough for me.
The camper cabins are awesome for those without a camper who want to get into this lifestyle but don't want to tent it. Cozy and everything you need, these are great.

Campground is excellent and same for boat ramps. Bathrooms very clean, BUT the first shower never got hot water (Angler's point). Crazy. Finally moved to the larger end one and OK. Faucets were goofy. Sorry, I should have reported it.

Recommended only for camping, fishing or boating. It's a beautiful location, don't get me wrong, but there's not many trails and, with the above exceptions, not much to do.
We had a relaxing time.

The location was great, the staff was fantastic...the cabins were lovely until we discovered bed bugs. They were kind enough to move the party to a other cabin but it was massively disturbing to watch them rent the same bed bug infested cabin to another party within 24 hours of us reporting the issue without really a clean out mattress swap out etc. They handled our situation with grace and class but overall it seems like a massive public health concern to continue to allow people into that unit knowing the issue at hand

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is a family-friendly zoo with African and Australian animals, reptile galleries, a bird house, a farm, and botanical gardens. The zoo features a splash pad with rubber surfaces that has been upgraded in the summer. There are also playhouses, treehouses, a large field with toys and games, a waterfall and 2 splash pads.
Riverbanks zoo reminds of Animal Kingdom set in good old Disney World without the financial hard ship going there. Riverbanks is simply an amazing zoo. I would recommend setting aside 3-4 hours to see everything, this of course is set with a two old in mind. We stopped and saw just about everything and even petted some very friendly goats. Some stuff does cost extra, $20 on the zoo card will be more than enough for two children. The giraffe feeding stops at 1:30pm so if that is on your agenda I would get in line early. We went on a Sunday and the crowds were not too bad. We will definitely become frequent visitors. 10/10 I highly recommend.

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is fabulous! We absolutely love it here and have been visiting regularly for 10+ years. The animal variety is second to none. The layout of the zoo flows very nice to ensure you can enjoy each stop to see all that it offers during your visits. The staff do a great job of keeping the zoo very clean and safe. They are very, attentive, and provide excellent service every time we are there. The expansions keep coming and continue improving and evolving this Zoo into one of the best visits you and your family can make.
If I was going to provide a critique, I would recommend more fans through out the park. South Carolina (especially in the midlands) can get very hot and humid during the summer months and that heat can make visiting the park a less than pleasant experience if you are not use to the heat down here (heck even if you are 😂). More fans through out the park would add to the already amazing atmosphere and help create some more much needed cool zones through out.
One last add. Please visit during the Halloween and Christmas events. They are fantastic and highly recommended. For adults the Brew at the Zoo is one of the best attractions around. Enjoy!

This was an amazing experience! The $5 parking is worth it if you are wanting to go to the botanical gardens/splash pad first or last on your visit. The prices were fair for adults at $26 for how big of a zoo it is! There were some of every animal including giraffes you can feed, a kangaroo exhibit you can walk through, and sea lions you can stand next to. Animals included monkeys, gorillas, lions, tigers, snakes, birds of all kinds, goats, alpacas, bears, otters, tortoises, penguins, tropical fish, jellyfish, sea turtles, koalas, sloths, and so much more. I even tried out the ropes course within the zoo (requires shoes w/ heel strap) which was priced at $7 for non-members. It was a good ropes course for the price! I do recommend having a parent or older sibling go up with a younger child if they're new to ropes courses. The height can be a fear factor and the way the harness is attached to the top of the course can make it harder for smaller kids to reach in order to move around the course. As an adult, it's a fun add-on especially if you're looking for some more thrill with your zoo experience. The botanical gardens were gorgeous! They were located right next to the $5 parking and the tram. Overall, I really enjoyed visiting the Riverbanks Zoo and all of the staff here were polite and happy.

Wild Nights was awesome! Really looked great from the front gate fungi/coral to the animated creatures. Went on Black Friday with family in town for the holidays. Highly recommend buying tickets in advance as another group mentioned it was already sold out when we arrived right after 5pm. The kids loved that the train and carousel were both running.
The person at the gate was very helpful as we had multiple ticket purchases across several confirmation emails. Would definitely go again.

A place where families can come and witness animals from around the world in a protected and safe environment. The Riverbanks Zoo rescues animals from around the globe to rehabilitate them and care for them with such love. The zoo is filled with a variety of animals ranging from tigers, lions, gorillas, and birds from all countries. This place is clean, family friendly, and caters to all ages. If you're ever in Columbia, SC, I would definitely recommend this place for a fun family outing. The zoo is well maintained, clean, and organized.
There’s a $5 dollar fee for the parking and they have plenty of parking spaces.
You can book in advance “behind the scenes” to pet some of the animals. (Check their website).
If you go early in the morning you can feed the giraffes.
There are plenty of restrooms around, some of them smell bad and are messy, specially
If the zoo is pretty busy.
The bird part smells bad but is just the smell of the birds. Just be aware.
They rent strollers
Gift shop available
They have photographers at the entrance with a giant green screen.
They have an interactive farm for kids, a carousel, and more.
Food and drinks from outside are not allowed.

we love this place! this is my fourth time at the riverbanks zoo, and it's never failed to please. easy access, plenty of parking, affordable ticket prices (I recommend getting the extended bracelet deal, feeding the giraffes is part of it, and it's really worth it). the animals seem to be well taken care of, and if you go earlier in the day, you'll be able to see everyone waking up and hanging out (the otters were especially excited for the sunshine and company). definitely dress comfy and bring plenty of water! there's lots of shade and several drinking fountains, but it was nice to have our own on hand. this was our first time making it up to the gardens, and that was also really worth the trip up. the waterfall splash area is great for the kiddos in the heat. I believe there's a lot on the west side where you can park and the access is much easier for the gardens and play area. all around great time!

The zoo was awesome! There were a lot of nice animals, and the enclosures/habitats were more than adequate for the animals. Healthy animals! My favorite places to visit had the flamingos and the lions. They had a grizzly bear, which I had not seen before. The botanical gardens were nice, as well. Small, but nice. There is a tram that takes you from the zoo to the garden. It took me and my partner about 3.5 hours to do the zoo and the garden.

I visited her in the spring, and it was fantastic. We enjoyed feeding the giraffes. We were able to get up close to the gorillas even though their enclosure is going through renovations. I loved the sea lion exhibit. The aquarium had just recently opened back up and was super crowded. We were not able to check that out, but it looked super nice from the outside. My daughter and nephew loved all the activities this zoo offers. This zoo is very well kept, and the animals looked happy and healthy.

Went this past week with my nieces (1 yo) and they had a blast. There are lots of exhibits and we saw all of them and stayed for about 2 hours total. We were able to see all of the animals except the tiger(s). My nieces especially loved the aquarium and the penguin exhibit. We got to see them performing maintenance/cleaning in one of the aquarium tanks which was pretty cool. Also got to see a couple of young gorillas nursing. I would recommend bringing some bug spray and sunscreen. There’s a lot of tree cover and canopies at exhibits providing shade throughout the park but there are also areas in direct sunlight at many of the exhibits. The park overall was very clean and there was lots to do. Also recommend going during the week/off season as the temperature is cooler so you’re able to see more animals and it is WAY less busy. There were maybe a max of 5 other people at an exhibit with us. Did not see or visit the garden this time, but definitely have plans to visit next time. This was our 2nd time making the trip to this zoo and we will definitely be back!

Beautiful and spacious zoo. There are unique animals that live here, that are not at a typical zoo. Lots of shade to keep you cool while viewing the animals. And very, very clean!
The enclosures have lots of space and the animals seemed happy and energetic, compared to other zoos I’ve visited. There are friendly zookeepers posted around the zoo to share interesting information on the animals. They were well informed and were able to answer all the questions we asked. My favorite part was visiting the Kangaroos. You are able to actually go inside the enclosure (while staying on the path) to view the kangaroos from a short distance without any fence or obstruction blocking your view. The experience felt up close, but was a safe distance away.
We enjoyed the trek up the trail to the garden through dense trees that felt like it’s own separate space from the zoo. The garden is well taken care of and has a calming atmosphere. We then rode the tram back down the trail where we were brought back to the zoo. It is nice the facility offers the tram at no extra cost.
Overall, we had a great time! This is probably my favorite zoo now.

I visited with my kids here during the Christmas holidays. The weather was pleasant.
There was no wait line at the ticket counter.
The charges for kids and adults are almost the same.
It's not very big zoo but there are lots of animals and well maintained.
There are more than one lion, tiger, orangutan and many more.
There are different animal talk times for more information.
With special bands you can go near few animals like giraffe, feed birds and play games.
Sometimes the layout gets confusing but it's small enough to trace the steps back.
The alligator 🐊 was not there.
There are lots of picnic tables.
I could go near kangaroo 🦘.
Zoo rangers are always nearby and helpful with information or directions.
There are many eating outlets.
It's a good to spend with kids.

The zoo was pretty big, and had a good selection of animals. Compared to other zoos I've visited, it was ok. Animals were on the smaller size, and the one grizzly bear we saw looked like he had mange (fur was patchy in several places). The plus for me was that you can take the free tram to the botanical gardens which was included in the ticket price. That was my favorite part. Walking through the gardens was a nice outing, and there were places with seating, food, activities, and a splash park for kids. Overall I enjoyed it.

I would recommend getting here EARLY and leaving before 1-2pm. It gets extremely busy after lunch time, but aside from that I had a wonderful time! I had to bring my service dog with me and the staff were respectful and understanding! There are some places you aren’t allowed to go with a service animal but that is understandable and totally fine! Bathrooms were kept clean and smelled fine, there wasn’t trash or debris everywhere. The animals confinements looked clean and well taken care of which was a favorite of mine! I will say it took a while to get our food when we went up to a food truck. This was at lunch time and the place was getting pretty crowded by then. I had an absolute blast here and will definitely come back.

I dropped in unexpectedly, looking to get some steps in. Lots of trails and flora. Many places to sit and take a load off.
You can walk from the garden to the zoo, it's only 3/10 mile. Zoo was a bit more crowded, but pretty cool....and they sell beer 😁.
Check out Saluda Ruins, BEAUTIFUL walk and an interesting story. I was there for about 2 hours and got in my 10k steps.

Well worth the visit! I went with my wife and 2 kiddos, oldest is 9. We really liked the aquarium with a wide variety of up close exhibits. The ocean exhibit had numerous "Coming Soon" attractions. Note that to ride the carousel or do the climbing wall, you must buy extra tickets like at a carnival, but the prices are not ridiculous. When we went, the carousel cost $2 per ride. We also let our daughter try the high ropes obstacle course. This was another fee ($7 per person) but well worth it. Mom and Dad enjoyed the bridge and trails to the botanical gardens, which was included with the zoo admission. Great family outing!

Free zoo map is available. I was able to see all the animals so close. Was also able to feed a giraffe and brush the goats. They are very cute. Don't forget to get some merchandises too on the way to the parking lot.

I've always loved the zoo, and now I get the joy of taking my girls. I do suggest a membership as it pays for itself and tickets are pricey but it's worth it. We usually take snacks with us and we have the souvenir cups. We love doing boo at the zoo and the lights at the zoo

Such a great place to bring the family to! The kids loved seeing the animals and learning about all them. Love their aquarium area too! So neat to see them all and watch the kids eyes light up with joy over seeing how they live. If you haven’t gone yet I’d strongly suggest going asap!

Beautiful zoo, kept clean, prices are as you'd expect going to any big park these days. Good food variety, as well as snacks, drinks. Tons of animal exhibits, overall great for the fam & everyone!
Great parking options.

Took advantage of the last free Friday for this month. First time at the zoo and was not disappointed. Only spent about 2 1/2 hours but really enjoyed. I pretty much stuck to one side of the zoo this time and will explore the other half later on. Highly recommend. The only thing I wish they had was more food options but I’m not complaining because i know how that goes but I went prepared! Took my own food!

Very well put together Zoo and Gardens. There is a lot of various animals to see, such as gorillas, giraffes, kangaroos, grizzly bear, sea lions and so forth. I recommend you bring some water for your walk around this zoo you will be doing a lot of walking especially if you want to walk across the pedestrian bridge.
There are a couple different options you can take to get to and from the Zoo side and the Botanical Garden side. One way is taking the Woodland Trail beginning on the garden side. Next would be taking the walking path that runs along the Tram Road it is rather steep. Finally is the Tram with are two Ford Super Duty Pickups with three “wagons” attached behind each pickup it will take you to and from the Zoo side and the Garden side. There however is usually a wait for the Tram. We chose to walk the path along the Tram road.
This Zoo was extremely crowded. It is probably best if you try to go on a weekday. We went on a Saturday it was extremely busy. I highly recommend checking out the gift shop and buying a souvenir. This is one of the best Zoos I have been to.

We had a great time, animals were cool food was good and wait times were a bit long on a few things but other wise it was great, it’s very nice and nothing is to far apart so it’s not that bad when walking from place to place extra things were very affordable being 2 dollars a person just so you know the zoo does a coin system kind of so if you want to do an extra and you had 3 people it would 6 dollars with each coin being 1 dollar a piece, extras were very cool with the extras being feeding giraffes, feeding birds and other things. I would recommend getting to the zoo as early as possible because it gets crowded very fast you could get to see more things actually moving and running around and that’s just a few things to keep in mind.

God have us an absolutely perfect day for our visit! It was 75°, partly cloudy, and a gentle breeze. Although it was fairly busy, everyone moved along through all the exhibits quickly. I'd have to say that our group's highlights were feeding the Coconut Lorikeet, walking among the kangaroos, and visiting the botanical garden (took the tram up). It's a great place for kids of all ages. The garden has quite a few play areas of all different themes and many water features. The kids were having a blast in the water activities. They even have a cabana for bathing suit changes. It's a "must see" if you're in the area. We'll be visiting again in the future.

Came to the zoo in the morning. Most animals were out as breakfast was being served to some of the animals. It was pleasant that the weather was cool, so a light coat or long sleeves did the trick. By the time it was 11 a.m., it warmed up. Not very crowded, it was nice to walk through and take some time to see the animals starting their day. Since it was 9:30 am when I got in, not many food/drink places were available until closer to 11, so I purchased a bottle of water from one of the vending machines and kept exploring. If you're looking for a slower pace to venture, I recommend the morning, I enjoyed it.

"Love taking the kids here! Awesome zoo with aquarium and aviaries. Large habitats are great but animals can be shy. Park lacked water due to a break on a hot day, $4 for water bottles is steep. Offering cheap bottles until boil mandate lifted would've helped. Kids enjoyed feeding birds and the sky high safari was a highlight!"

Riverbank zoo is a all day adventure for the family! I recommend buying tickets online as somedays it's packed here. Always building new and exciting exhibits for the animals. This is definitely a all day trip for all ages. Many many animals to see and multiple locations thay are indoors and cooled when you get too hot. There is also petting zoo areas and small rides like a train and carousel for the little ones. They do sell food and drinks there but they are very very expensive. We bring food and eat it outside on the benches then go back inside.

Riverbanks Zoo is always a fun day for the kids. Even after multiple visits, it never gets old. A great way for the kids to get their energy out. They absolutely love it when Waterfall Junction is open and love the giraffe feeding, too! The grounds and gardens are always beautiful!

This is a great Zoo. Downside is make sure you get the wristbands to actually participate in feeding the 🦒 and doing a good amount of things the kids will want to do. Downside was we didn't see the large tortoise or many monkeys. There were no cats available to view either as a lot of exhibits were being renovated. The food is definitely not great, everything costs so much these days. Expect to spend at least $160 for a few hours and 2 people. Clean, well staffed and easy to find.

Here visiting for the weekend and came on a Friday. Really enjoyed this zoo! I think it is very kid friendly and has a lot of activities for them to do, not just see the animals. We came at a good time (10 am) so most of the animals were pretty active. We enjoyed seeing the reptiles and Gorillas the most. It was definitely busy that day due to many schools having field trips to the zoo. They only really had snacks around the park, which is expected at a zoo. I do recommend doing to Tuskers if you real food while visiting though. We also really enjoyed walking the Garden trails. I highly recommend checking out this zoo!

Other than the number of people, we had a great time. The staff was nice and all the animals were out. Can't wait to go on a weekday and be able to take our time watching the animals.
Lydia Dean — Google review
We got there at 1pm and had enough time to stop by most the exhibits, but many of the animals were sleeping. I'd recommend getting there earlier so you can go back to see the animals you missed on the first round. The zoo itself was not very big, so you can easily make a couple laps. The parking lot was hectic when we got there (1pm on a Saturday), but once we got past the entrance, we found many open spots, while others were fighting for closer parking.
The South Carolina State Museum is a large museum located in Columbia, SC that houses both permanent and rotating exhibits on a variety of topics ranging from art to history to science and technology. The museum also has a planetarium and an interactive 4D theater that are great for kids.
This is definitely a gem. They have 4 floors of exhibits. We didn’t get thru it all today. They have kid friendly exhibits as well. They have a gift shop an they also show mini movies. Today admission was $1 per person. ( First Sunday of each month).

I’ve been to the museum multiple times, as I am a local. Which also means I’ve seen many different exhibits featured here. I believe the museum is well known for the massive great white shark hanging in the entrance and can be seen from every level of the museum (4 floors ). While it’s very impressive it’s also very intimidating for younger visitors as well. My most previous trip here was a random Tuesday in April. Total spur of the moment with my 4 year old son, sister and nephew (2 years old). My son thought the giant shark was the coolest thing ever and my nephew couldn’t run away fast enough (he was leashed to his momma and just about pulled her down he ran so fast 😂). After convincing him it wasn’t going to eat him we saw the cool dinosaur exhibit, explored prehistoric times, walked the many different destinations SC has to offer, learned about SC history and saw the planetarium 🪐 they are currently completing renovations on multiple floors, so many of the hands on exhibits and interactive displays were gone. Honestly the 3rd and 4th floors held very little interest for everyone. The museum is geared more towards older kids interested in history. Although it’s a great place to visit, make sure to check the website to see what new exhibits they have and if any are unable to access. In the past they have had some great exhibits, you just have to keep an eye out. All in all, it’s a great place to take friends and family from out of town or a trip to the past on a random Tuesday with your kiddos to reminisce about horse and buggy times, rotary phones, and 1970’s televisions. Definitely a must visit when in South Carolina 💖

What a fun place to discover a little bit about everything. The stars, the sea, the land, technology, people. This museum has it all and everyone at every age is sure to have fun. The is a cafe for snacks, a gift shop, planetarium, and hands on activities throughout. It is four levels of fun. It is handicap accessible and elevators are handy. It is a lot of walking so if you do have mobility issues they have provided benches throughout for a rest.

Although it's showing its age in places (some of the exhibits are 25+ years old) the museum is clearly undergoing a renewal. Many signboards and displays have recent updates, exhibits are being tweaked, new displays are going on. It's true this isn't the state of the art museum it was in the early 90s, but it's still a solid place to pick up on state history and I still love coming here to see what's been updated since my last visit. Watching the changes from one visit to the next in almost real time has been pretty exciting!
In good weather, definitely check out the observatory. Even if it's closed due to clouds or rain, they're always happy to have a chat about the telescope and show off pictures they've taken with it, which is extremely cool. The updated space exhibits are also fantastic, as are the telescopes on display and the recent acquisitions hall. Showing its age in places, yes, but like I said it's still definitely worth the visit.

Staff were pretty friendly. I was with a large group of people. I believe there could of been a better explanation of how we could navigate the area. There was construction going on during this time. Like any museum the food in the cafe was over priced for the quality of food. There are 4 floors so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The hours are work friendly.

The state museum really is a Columbia treasure. I've been going my whole life and now take my kids, ages 6 and 8. They are just now getting to the age where they understand and appreciate what they're seeing. I'd say any younger than 6 it's probably a better idea to check out the children's museum across the street, Edventure. This museum is definitely geared towards ages 7-8 and up, in my opinion. You can easily spend 3-4 hours at the state museum, especially if you stop to read things. There's so much rich history in SC! The planetarium theater is awesome and we've enjoyed the different shows featured over the last year or two. The 4D theater is cool, but if you have a little one scared by sudden noises, feels, etc I'd skip it. Certain films have effects where they may mist you with water, the seat may vibrate, or you may feel some other sensation. So just know that in advance. My Boys love the military exhibits, dinosaurs, and space exploration exhibits the best. There's also a very impressive telescope collection, lots of prehistoric animals, a look at transportation and daily life over the years, life of the early Native Americans, and so much more!

What an absolutely overwhelming experience this museum is. We spent nearly 3 hours exploring and only saw maybe half of what there is to see. It has everything from history to science, to amazing planetarium shows that are worth every penny. I can't wait to make it back to Columbia to see the rest!

Great place to explore. The building itself is cool. The planetarium is a great experience. Also do the observatory. Impressive telescope and knowledgeable staff. The other displays throughout are fantastic, but there isn't much change. Still, I enjoyed repeated visits. The manually powered submarine model is fascinating. We went this last time for the eclipse. The staff members really make you feel welcome.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time exploring the exhibits. Make sure you plan to spend the entire day as there is a lot to see. My daughter really enjoyed the fossils, space, and habitat exhibits. We visited on a Friday and had very little traffic in the exhibits. There were a handful of other guests and one field trip. Something of note, the bathrooms are being renovated so they are few and far between. We ate lunch at the cafe, which had a small wait but was fair priced.

Ever since I can remember I have loved coming to the museum! I love the exhibits, even the ones they've had for years and years! There's so much to see and do and I learn something new each trip. This was a letdown in a lot of ways. The displays were vast spectacles of nothingness. Large dioramas made more to take up space and less about educational content. Many, if not all of the interactive displays were broken or in some state of disrepair.

My son and grandkids live in Irmo. We were visiting from NY and found this museum and planetarium a fantastic place. We arrived for the 1:30pm show and it was OK. But the history in the museum was amazing. We only had a couple of hours to go through the museum but you really need half a day to take eveything in. When we return we will certainly come back again and spend more time.
The State House is a famous tourist destination and the capital of South Carolina. It is a fine example of Greek Revival architecture and was built in 1851. The highly-regarded design work of John Niernsee makes it one of the most beautiful state government offices in the country. The grounds include monuments to historical figures such as George Washington and S.C. Senators, as well as fallen State Law Enforcement Officers.
A friend of ours who lives in the area took us on a tour of the grounds and then we went into the building for a quick peek inside.
The grounds are well kept with a lot of statues/monuments and history. We especially loved their African American History Monument - long overdue.
The picture of the “ship” etched into the ground is an eye opener. You can see the way the laves were transported side by each and crammed in there. The way they were treated is horrible and the story needs to be told.
The State Building had gone through a long renovation and it is beautiful inside.
We loved the law enforcement memorial and it is very cool that the blue lights leading up to it from the walkway light up at night.

My first time visiting and I enjoyed walking the grounds of the SC State House. The staff on-site were very friendly and informative. Definitely recommend a stop here. There is also a parking garage near by and a short walk to the main street area as well. We spent a solid hour just outside walking around the grounds. Very beautiful building and interesting history here. Lots of it. The stairs and view outside is worth going to view alone. When facing the building from main street the original building was a little to the right until it was burnt down in a war. The city was great to view and enjoy for the bringing in of the new year. The fireworks were great and wonderful to watch from the middle of main street and the oldest streets in the city.

Congaree National Park boasts an expansive hardwood forest with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing and fishing. Volunteer-led programs attract weekend visitors while ranger-led programs are more frequent during peak season. While the educational sections of the park's center are partially closed, numerous items can be purchased at its gift shop. This newly developed park caters to urban enthusiasts and is highly recommended for experiencing the firefly season.
I almost hesitate to review because we LOVED it so much and don't want it to become over crowded. This is one of our favorite hiking spots! The 2.6 Mile boardwalk was easily doable with me and my elementary aged kids. It feels like an adventure but also quite safe and clean. We also picnicked in one of the many, shady spots by the lodge. After lunch we were a bit more adventurous with off boardwalk trails. There are many and they're rated by difficulty with listed distances so you can easily determine what's the best fit for you/your group. The staff was AMAZING! We availed ourselves of the gift shop for a few items. We also picked up our junior ranger books, completed the activities during our adventures, and were then sworn in as junior rangers! Including me ☺️ We got beautiful Congaree ranger badges that absolutely thrilled them. We will return as soon as we are able! It is a little more than 2 hours each way for us and totally worth it!!

A nice national park to go to. The board walk was definitely worth it with a nice raised path and information markers along the way. A good 2.5 mile hike and took about an hour. It is in a swampy area so depending on the time of year might be a little buggy and or muggy; so come prepared with water and bug repellent. But a very nice and easy walk with great information along the way and plenty of wildlife to observe!

Went here and did the boardwalk trail, although much of it was flooded, so do be aware of park closures. It is a nice and peaceful walk in nature, although nothing outstanding like many of the other national parks are. Probably wouldn’t go back, unless I lived close by or in the area.

The park was so popular on the weekends, which included volunteers led programs. The ranger led programs are more concentrated during the peak season. The center was partially closed, mostly educational sections, however, they have a lot of stuff for purchasing and for sales. You could tell that this park is very new and geared towards urban people. I recommend to come for the firefly season. Would love to do kayaking programs with the rangers in this park too. But it's super popular and hard for accessibility.

We've visited many national parks over the years. But this was our first swamp! It was nothing like I'd ever experienced. We went late may, so the weather was perfect, and the mosquitoes were non-existent. We saw a wild hogs body, and several alligators swimming in the distance. The trails are all boardwalks, making it super easy to walk miles around the park.

We always see something interesting here. This time it was 3 snakes, 4 turtles, and tons of fish. There are lots of trails and they are well marked, but it is easy to get off trail if you are not careful. Staying on the boardwalk is great with small kids. We always see water snakes in the summer, but this time we saw a Cottonmouth and a Rattler. Check the website before you go - sometimes it is flooded and only a few trails will be open.

This park is beautiful. The cypress trees provide great shade but it can be humid and hot in the summer. But there are lots of bugs everywhere playing bumper cars with your face!
There are many trails to hike depending on your level of experience and appetite for adventure. We did the boardwalk trail which was easy. We wanted to hike the weston lake trail but saw gators and water moccasins close to the banks of the lake and decided not to for precaution. Trails are marked throughout.
However, I can see why this is one of the least visited parks. The visitor center was lacking pizzazz. It would be better if there were more interactions between the park ranger and visitors through educational programs or ranger talks. But rangers do not approach you and try to talk to you.
I am not sure I would come back again but am glad I had the chance to stop by while in the area.

We visited the park after 5pm so didn’t get to see visitor center. About 1 of 2.5 miles of boardwalk was under water but we managed to walk it all the way (barefooted, kneedeep). On the trail we saw Otters, Snakes, leaches and an Owl (real up close, see video). Despite the flood it was a great experience

We went for the boardwalk trail. It was a really nice walk. We saw a lot of animals on the way, including alligator and turtles! For those who are going first time, don't forget to take a paper trail guide as there are many interesting points a long the trail. There are available at visitor center.

One of more unknown and underrated National Parks, Congaree was a pleasant surprise. Start at the visitor center, where there is free parking, picnic tables and grills, restrooms and the gift shop. The visitor center is a little dated and could use a refresh, especially the restrooms.
The boardwalk trail was lovely and has a lot to look at. It does get crowded on the weekends because it’s great for families. If you want more of a secluded longer hike, we did the Weston Lake Loop, which took a couple of hours but it was worth it.

The biodiversity is this floodplain is amazing. From trees(bald cypress) having swollen trunk base to knees(roots that rise above ground) to support trees during floods to switch canes because elevation rise by only a few inches, and tallest deciduous trees (130-150 feet) in the world, and dwarf palmetto, to how the area was used by slaves to hide away and bootleggers to make alcohol during the ban. Do hike the Weston lake and oak ridge trails to get a chance to see some wildlife.

Such a great park!
Plenty of trails, ranging from easy to difficult, Short to long.
Very clean, nice, restrooms on site at visitors center.
Boardwalk trail is fantastic, shaded, smooth. Little under 3 miles but not bad at all. Wheelchair accessible.
Absolutely wonderful park, kept up with.
Free entry.
Campsites available
Kind staff & helpful people.

Fun! We waded through the Swamp to make it all the way around the boardwalk. Not many people. It was nice that pets were allowed.
We were grateful for the time of year we visited because I'm sure mosquitoes are terrible when it's hot!
Amanda Gresiak — Google review
A beautiful and unique national park experience - specifically if you take a canoe or kayak to explore it.. highly recommended to book a guided canoe tour, to include no worries about getting lost in the swamp!

Great! Went 3/21 about a week after rain. Boardwalks were fine. You could see how high the water was! A great little place for also bringing kids and dogs! If I were to go again I would want to kayak/canoe!

Congaree National Park was free to enter, and parking was plentiful. I went on a weekday perhaps, that's why it wasn't busy. The main attraction in the park is the board walk. It's about 2 miles, and it's a loop that ends where you began. I was pretty excited to see a swamp, having never seen one before. However, after the first few hundred feet, it quickly becomes redundant. The visitor center gives you a small map that tells you about the different numbered signs along the walk.
I believe every national park is worth visiting. This one was probably the most uneventful national park I have been to, though. Or maybe swamps aren't my thing.
Dan Stewart — Google review
Such a lovely national park. Part of the boardwalk trail was flooded out, but there was still plenty to see and experience. We definitely want to return!
Allison Rensberger — Google review
We came here during flood season but it was still fun. There's a few trails you can take while it's flooded, and it's kind of nice to see that side of the park. If you want to avoid flood season, I Believe you need to go in the summer and fall. The park rangers are so nice and helpful, and there were no mosquitos.
Dani Drugan — Google review
A smaller National Park but a unique ecosystem. This park is basically a large swamp. The boardwalk trail is 2.4 miles and is very easy to walk. You can walk through an old growth hardwood forest that includes native bald cypress, beech, tupelo, and loblolly pine. Water was high this visit due to recent storms but not quite at flood level. The great thing about visiting in March, no mosquitoes. I hear they can be quite thick in the summer. If you are a National Park enthusiast like I am, this is a great place to experience something different. Unlike other parks, there were no crowds, and we enjoyed the solitude during the hike. There is off boardwalk hiking but did not attempt because of the high waters.

This park isn't going to "wow" you with views and geological structures. Enchanted forest feel. Old growth trees are amazing. Very quiet and peaceful place. Boardwalk is a great hike. Entrance to the park is free.
Scenic park boasting multi-use trails, grist mill ruins, campsites & a 10-acre lake with fishing.
Such a beautiful place for a peaceful, relaxing Mother's Day! We love exploring our state parks and this was our first time to this one.
They have plenty of picnic tables and adirondack chairs by the lake, as well as several picnic shelters throughout the park. One of the picnic shelters was near where we settled by the lake for the afternoon, close to a nice, large grassy area for playing and playground equipment for younger children.
We didn't hike any of the trails on this visit but they have several ranging from 0.4 mile up to over 5 miles long. My daughter and I enjoyed some canoeing - got pretty close to an egret, just missed a turtle, and thankfully did not encounter any gators. Although, we were told by the ranger that they are more scared of us than we are of them.

Nice, quite campground with water and electric only. The bathhouse was directly behind us. They are very clean but need some maintenance. Rusty the host was very friendly. Andrew the Ranger was very friendly too.
The lake and office is about a half mile from the campground.
Site 7, 2 bars Verizon, 20A & 30A only, Water, no sewer. Does have a dumping station. Fairly level site. Had to lift one side about 1.5" and the front about 3". Dirt/sandy site.

We made a quick pit stop after picking up my daughter from her camp.
Poinsett state park has lake where kids and dogs can swim/ play with water.
They also has cam ground site and cabin to rent for your stay.
Quite nature place and not really busy even on the week end.
Has playground and clean bathroom for the visitors.
Although our visit was short but we enjoyed it.

Quite out of the way park, good campsites with good space between sites. Good clean bath house. Small lake with paddle and Jon boats. Be sure to bring everything you need, camp store is nice but small and they don't carry ice.lots of hiking & biking trails.
Mark Rose — Google review
The park's lake is small, but the site provides paddle boats and fishing; the pathways offer a variety of lengths for both the beginner and advanced hiker, and the on-site store has the basic plus the "absolute minimum" of hiking and tourism items. A very positive experience all the way around!

Local treasure! Well maintained and clean. My family visited for the first time yesterday. The lake, creeks and babbling streams were absolutely beautiful. Great picnic areas and plenty of options for family fun with cabin rentals, playground, paddle boats, canoes, etc. Plenty of space for frisbee or other backyard sporting options. Our dog loved it. Parking lot is right beside the picnic area so it's very convenient to get supplies.
Holly Murrah — Google review
Busy on the weekends, quite during the week days (campground). Trails are nice and interconnecting allowing for new hikes daily. Mountain biking is also pretty quality. The first few spots at the campground are the "difficult" sites to get into due to angles, trees, and space. If you have anything bigger than a travel trailer look for a bigger spot/higher numbered spot. Mine is site 2 and is pinned between two entry trees and a tree at site 3 making it difficult to get into. 22 foot trailer.

We loved our RV camping experience at Poinsett!! They have awesome walking/biking trails with beautiful streams. Lots of hills for people in search of more challenging trails. The staff are all very friendly and the campgrounds are well maintained. Perfect family fun!!! We can’t wait to go back again for a longer stay!

Clean and beautiful park with various walking and biking trails, a lake you can fish in or rent a paddle or Jon boat for $10 an hour or bring your own kayak. Well taken care of trails and grounds - making it an enjoyable sanctuary for a picnic or just to take your children to the playground. You do have to put cash in an envelope for entry- $3/adult and $1/child or $1.50 for seniors, SC guard or disabled vets.

This is one of my favorite State Parks. The quiet and low-key atmosphere is refreshing.
Trails for all skill levels are extensive throughout this compact park.
Tent camping sites are spacious with a clean bathhouse.

Nice place, love the trails. I've been trail running here a couple times and really enjoyed it. Trails are marked fairly well, very thick trees so the temp is lower and even rain doesn't get all the way through. There are some hills to keep it interesting, but nothing too major. Really nice.

Beautiful spot to visit. Nice paved trails and beautiful views. Ponds with a nice bridge crossing. You don’t get cellular service out there so be warned. It’s a no fishing zone. Wasn’t very crowded and not much garbage laying around. It’s feels like a safe environment for the whole family. They have things for adults and children. Large play ground and thing of that sort. Picnic tables with tree cover to keep the sun from burning you up. Restrooms are not the best. They do have a water fountain for drinking water. I also like that animals are allowed on the trails.

Special shoutout to Ranger Andy and his co-worker (sorry, I forgot your name AGAIN). They were so helpful and full of interesting history and facts and I really enjoyed chatting with them.

Very cool state park with lots of trails for hiking/biking. Campground was very well maintained and bathrooms were clean.
Park at Lake Marion offering hiking trails, boating & fishing also has campsites & cabins for rent.
We stayed in one of the land cabins. Very well equipped and shockingly clean. All kitchen equipment from utensils to dishes was provided to cook standard meals from spaghetti to microwave popcorn. Outdoor grill for your burgers and lake catches. Roughly 10 miles of hiking/biking trails at the park which we found enjoyable. Nice visitors center described the local geography very well. One of our activities outside the park was a pontoon boat tour with a local company. That was well worth the time. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and informative. Would stay again.

This was our first visit to South Carolina as a family, and Santee State Park was wonderful. It has a 'buggy' reputation but coming from Florida, it certainly wasn't bad. Cabin was nice, views were great, trails were fun and achievable; if you get a chance, visit this park...

Beautiful campground. Well maintained. Bath houses are clean and modern. Great lake for fishing, boating, kayaking, etc. Nearly 10 miles of easy walking/biking trails. A few areas were wet, but we found easy ways to navigate through without getting our feet wet. We'll definitely return. We stayed stayed at the Cypress view campground. All of the sites are large and easy to back into. Pull-throughs are nearly straight shots in and out.

Cool place, four or five decent hiking trails plus one for mountain bikes. Fishing and boating accomodated, decent camp sites. Not too busy, lush and peaceful. Bring bug dope. A horse fly just took a chunk out of me.

The other reviews are correct that this is a quiet relaxing campground during the week but know that on the weekends it is full of many people with kids, dogs, golf carts, and lot's of excitement enjoying the outdoors.
The Lakeshore campground is the most spacious. The bath house near me was in excellent condition but it seemed to take forever for the shower to get warm and I didn't have to use the cold water at all.
There is a double lane boat ramp nearby Lakeshore with a sandy beach which is good for kayaks. The ramp at the camp store is not so good for kayaks.
BEWARE! The road leading into the Park is a SPEED TRAP! It is a favorite of the SC Highway Patrol. From the town of Santee it's a two lane road about two miles long with mostly pine forest on each side which looks like it should be a 45 - 55 Mph but it is a 30 Mph zone and there are no speed limit signs posted in either direction letting drivers know the limit. It is a TRAP and nothing much kills a camping adventure like a speeding ticket.
Tip- If you don't have a Yeti cooler but a regular one then you can extend the ice by covering it with a silver solar space blanket. Also the Park has abundant pine cones which make great kindling.
Have a great time at Santee State Park. I'll be back soon.

Great park for a quiet getaway! Have visited many times in tents, cabins, and in the camper spots - all great experiences! My husband had named the SP Rd. Whitetail Alley for a reason - be careful coming and going. If you visit during duck hunting season, be prepared for lots of shots in the morning.

Fabulous park! Quiet and beautiful. Miles of maintained hiking trails. Large open arras and playground equipment. Clean bathrooms and showers. Absolutely a treasure.

It was a little hard to figure out where I was at first. GPS took me to a sign in the woods. You have to travel straight down that road until you see a 4 way stop, then continue straight some more before actually arriving at the park office. Once I got here it was a nice little park. It was windy and cold the day I went so no fishing for me. The ladies at the park were super friendly & nice. The trails aren't so well marked or maintained. I did see several types of mushrooms, an armadillo and a bald eagle. I'll return to fish very soon.

I was just passing through on my way to Florida and decided to visit and stretch from a long day of traveling. The park is very nice and appears to offer boating, lodging, camping, mountain biking and all the things that go with it Appeals to be a nice place for an extended family visit.... although I didn't stay long enough to enjoy all its offerings.

We LOVE camping at Santee! Such a beautiful place to relax and you always leave feeling rejuvenated. Great place for camping, celebrating birthday parties, church events, or just enjoying a weekend of relaxation. There are two different campsites, however, I recommend lakeshore as it gives best access to the lake for kayaking and fishing. There is a general store on the park next to the boat ramp that has some necessities for camping, fishing, etc. There are several hiking/hiking trails as well as areas for picnics or family gatherings. Santee is such a beautiful place and I highly recommend coming and exploring it.

We are planning a visit next summer and stopped in to see what the park was like. We found it to be well maintained, clean, the employees/park rangers were polite and informative. The cabins over the water are very nice as are all of them.
What a great place to visit in Walterboro, SC! Beautiful artwork in every type of media imaginable. Excellent displays and information on individual artists. Support of local artists is admirable. Knowledgeable and friendly staff members were more than willing to introduce us to the center and tell us about the artists and their crafts. Highly recommend a visit here!

A wonderful gem of a shop featuring the work of numerous SC artists and crafters. If you need a unique gift, this is the place to go. The SC Artisan's Center had beautiful, local art. There were many things other than stained glass also. I loved the nativity and fireplace cover. The building is quaint. I had to be careful bringing my kids inside.

I would have given this five stars, if we'd been greeted a tad more cordially!
My friend had been here before, & wanting to find a specific type gift, traveling from a FL wedding, back home to TN, we slid in here by the seat of our pants, which was probably rude of us.
However, she thought enough of the different artisan's works, to show me the place, and I do want to come back, for a longer visit.
The lady who told us, "We close in a few minutes, so you'll have to look quick, and .... will be with you, when she gets out of the restroom!" then ran out the door, isn't a very good ambassador, in my opinion...
Her tone of voice, said more than her spoken words, though.
We will be back, and I hope she'd just had a bad day, and we were the only 2 who got the sour grapes.
The art is phenomenal, prices competitive to works in our area and the center is laid out well. I understand the building is a step up, and it's nice to see the quality and quantity of art you have!

It was an amazing experience visiting this place. I was visiting from New York and the place was great, filled with arts of all mediums from over 200 local South Carolina artists and artisans. Got some beautiful presents for my family here! Do yourself a favor, if you love art, the is the place to stop on your travels!

This is a great place for one of a kind pieces made by South Carolina artists. The lady working there was fabulous and very knowledgeable about the artists. I love having a unique piece and some background on the creator, it really gives the art extra life. I felt the prices were reasonable as well. A must see place!
Michelle G — Google review
Lovely place filled with lots of arts and crafts. Building seems larger on the inside than it does from outside. They didn't overfill the building with to many pieces so you could take your time to look at pieces and not be overwhelmed. Driveway was a bit difficult too see. We drove by and had to turn around. Not a big thing but be alert.
They're a crafts none profit and use a jury selection process to police artists to exhibit. It shows. Take what ever time you need to get here and enjoy seeing all the art work.

A hidden Gem! We discovered this place by accident when we came to Walterboro. All of the crafts are made in SC!
We found Handmade stained glass, pottery, paintings by local artists, hand carved wooden items, to name a few. The quality of the items is what you would find at a Craft Guild.
I love the Summerville Farmes Market ❤️ veggies, pasta, fresh juice, crafts and more!

The Colonial-era settlement of Dorchester has been left to the surrounding forest, but still contains some architectural remains. Visitors can explore the settlement and learn about early Colonial life while spending a couple of hours there. The park is dog friendly, has plenty of parking, and offers grass to roam and socialize on.

There is also a quick little hiking trail that I would rate to be moderate in difficulty. Not very big as far as area and you could see what it has to offer in less than 45 minutes. There is parking, a restroom, and a small 3$ fee to enter.

What a great site, with a self guided walking tour available that explains the history along the various stops. It was $7 to take the whole family here which is quite reasonable. The tabby fort was amazing, as was the bell tower and graveyard. Just a great site to spend the afternoon exploring. Pack a picnic lunch; there are tables and facilities here, and ample parking. Very interesting history and a "must see" if you live in the area.

A fascinating little area that features a self-guided walking tour through the remains of this 18th century settlement. The location itself is quite scenic and peaceful, being located right along the river - I noticed many of the people there (it was by no means busy when I went on a Saturday) seemed to just be there to enjoy the nature.
A very worthwhile stopover if you're interested in the area's history. There was no gate or park ranger, although visiting here does cost $3 per adult, paid on the honour system via drop envelope.

This park is fantastic. The historical placards and dioramas are top notch. Active archaeological dig sites as well as being able to traverse the old fort means there is something to see for everyone. The Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park is a well-known park situated along the Beaufort River in downtown Beaufort. It offers visitors a multi-acre of beautiful green space, along with several recreational amenities including a playground and stage for performances. The park is beautiful! Lots of open green lawn. Shade for when you need break from the sun. And plenty of benches! We loved that there are even bench style swings to sit and relax. There is a playground for the kids and they might even get to see the bridge turn to let a ship through. The best thing is it's all very clean!

Cool place to walk around in the Beaufort area. Tons of history and decent sites to see.

This park was absolutely beautiful. The scenery and the activities were amazing. My family and I went to the beach. It was stunning and so much fun! The price was also nice. You can beat the pwrk for hours at a time. You can leave and come back without paying anymore!! 10 out of 10 definitely recommend.

This waterfront park is beautiful! It's a great place to catch a vivid Lowcountry sunset from one of the many swings, or watch boats go by, and maybe see the swing bridge open for a larger one. It's also a great venue for the many festivals that Beaufort has throughout the year.

Relax. Have fun. Get food. Shop.
Public restrooms available. Playground for kids.
Find a bench swing at the waterfront. Great for "sittin' on the dock of the bay watchin' the tide roll away."

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge is a coastal sanctuary that features salt marsh and tidal wetlands, providing habitats for various animals such as birds, deer, alligators and other wildlife. Visitors can spend several hours exploring the park on foot or bike while observing the stunning scenery and diverse fauna. The refuge offers ample parking space, but it can get crowded on pleasant days. It is an ideal place to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of wildlife in their natural habitat.
Beautiful location to walk and bike. The ibis pond was really stunning to see hundreds of the beautiful birds nesting in the trees. Bikes are allowed on the trails, but I'd recommend sticking to the gravel for casual riders, because the grass and dirt trails require a lot more effort.

We think we keep coming on off days. Once in the month of November and again in January. Very vast preserve and well set out trails. Plenty of parking. Never saw much. Beautiful trees.

Great walk along the shore, through the woods or both. Stunning scenery and abundant, varied wildlife. Certainly well worth a couple hours or more of your time.
Craig Johnson — Google review
So much to see, you’ll probably have to come here more than once! When you enter the trail to the main road after parking, there are maps to help you find your way throughout the refuge. The island is so big with such a diverse variety of wildlife. I would suggest bringing a bike with you to be able to travel more quickly around the islands trails. There are lots of informational posts throughout so you can identify the animals you may come across. The first major landmark you’ll come across is Ibis Pond and it is breathtaking. The pond and trees are full of different birds, and there is a gator that can be found there. I was only able to see a fraction of the island, but I will definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful park with an expansive nature trail system. It also has lots of ponds and is great for bird watching. It is best to explore the park by bike so you can get the most of it. A few areas were muddy and flooded (there was extensive rainfall the previous days) but we were able to get by on the bikes, where as the hikers had to turn back. We were able to explore the whole park, at a leisure biking pace, from 10 am to 3 pm. We made it all the way to White Point and it was worth it; the view did not disappoint. Don't bother going to Dick Point Pond. The trail is a bit unkempt, muddy and challenging. There are no restrooms or drinking water in the park. Parking is limited since this seems to be a popular park. Definitely worth a visit, whether you bike or hike.

A great place to spend a few hours and connect with nature. Take time to stop along the way to look for birds and wildlife. The park has enough parking space and it can get filled up on a nice day. Good for both biking and walking. Plan to spend about half a day.

Pinckney Island was amazing. My wife, son, and a biked about 8 miles through several of the trails and saw so much wildlife and beautiful scenery. We saw deer, birds, crab, and an alligator. I’d definitely recommend bringing bikes to efficiently view the island. It is completely flat, and the trails are well-maintained, so it should be no trouble for someone who doesn’t regularly ride bikes.

Our family loves to come here to explore!! Bring your walking shoes and a camera! Lots of neat photo spots here, bird watching, crabs. There is a swamp with gators in it that you can walk around very neat place to explore. Kids love it. The path is not concrete so off road stroller would be best for younger kids.

We decided to come here on our vacation to Hilton Head and it was well worth it. It's pretty hot in some areas. The park path is like 14 miles and you can walk or bike..I would recommend biking and hopping off to check things out. We saw a corn snake, crabs thousands of tiny ones which was neat, lots of native birds and they are so majestic and beautiful. They don't even look real! We walked down to the next pond past the bird pond and down there we saw two baby alligators resting on the edge of the water with their nose buried in the sand and one giant one swimming around..you should definitely take a walk around that pond and the bird one we saw some baby ones there too. It was very nice and enjoyable for the entire family. Next time we are renting bikes for sure so we can see it all. Donation boxes outside. Very scenic.

It was kind of chilly when we went. Had the weather been a bit warmer it could have been better but that just limits my ability to review. We didn't get as far as I would have liked but what we did walk was very flat and smooth. Off the main trail and it can get a little more rugged but no worries it's not the mountains! The weather my have limited our wildlife viewing and we only saw a crab but the views are good and we had a good time. Great place to burn some energy with the kids.

My family enjoyed our visit tremendously. Once you enter the parking area, there are maps/guides to pick up, and the trails are well maintained. We saw several species of birds, crabs, and even an alligator. I walked and the rest of my family biked. We all had a good time. Make sure to bring bug spray, though. Even in October, the mosquitoes were biting. Thankfully a nice couple shared their bug spray.

Perfect place for a long walks. Plenty of wild life to see. The easiest to spot are birds but with little patient and luck you can see so many other creatures ..even alligators. Detailed, ilustrated signs provide information throughout the whole area about different life forms you can encounter on your walk. Well marked paths are easy to follow and there is no chance to get lost

Amazing trails! Very good for walking, pushing a stroller/wheelchair. Leaving the trail to wander in the salt flats is at your own risk. Take plenty of water and salty snacks, limited shade. Plan on at least two hours.
Absolute treasure. Such a experience stopping on the way home from a long beach day. I've loved everything I've gotten from here. The banana pudding though is the best I've ever had. 😋 The people are always so friendly. Make to stop get anything and you won't regret it.

Such a hidden treasure worth your discovery, and the drive from Charleston. It would be so easy to ask for one of each please. Some delicious forgotten southern low country family favorites dishes, common a hundred years ago in this area. In the end the baked treats, desserts, and pies was our take away. Just a delight, and wonderfully enjoyable experience of old world cookery meeting modern day delicatessen staples that dazzles ones taste buds. Quite delightful team happy to help, and so pleasant to interact with. A soothing open air market experience of time almost forgotten yet preserved within the decor of the establishment.

the key lime pie is great! maybe too big for my needs but probably great for a group of more than 2 people! I have returned here on multiple trips to edisto but they usually don't have much I want other than that key lime pie. they really should sell potted plants! always on the hunt for a plant for my campsite but I end up having to go to the ace hardware down the road ... but the pie is really good here. and I got some really good lime beans one time!

We visited to get a key lime pie. My son and I love key lime pie and we were told that King's had the best. The pie was excellent. They do have frozen home made meals that you can cook yourself.
It was over crowded and difficult to move inside. My wife does not like crowded places so we didn't stay long.

Always fun to explore at King's market. Most times of the year you can get farm fresh vegetables, and I do mean fresh. Just look in the fields adjacent to their store and you will see what they are offering, growing only a few yards away. Also have delicious frozen entrees and sides if you want to plan your weekly menu while at the beach. Don't forget their jars of vegetables, jellies, and other goodies they offer year round. Fun place !

On the way back from Edisto, we stopped here. We've been living in a hotel while our paperwork was settled. Wanted the lasagne, but didn't have an oven. The sweet ladies recommend the quiches. I got the vegetable quiche, and it's was the most amazing one I've ever tasted. The first slice I had was worth the price of the pie, which is more than decently priced. Also, got the key lime pie. It's was better than the Keys. I also got a tomato for mater sammies and it was so good for March. Can't wait to go back this summer and get even fresher veggies and I'm def picking up their lasa
gna. I can only imagine how good that must be bc the quiche was honestly the best one I've ever had.

We stumbled upon this Market on our way to Edisto Beach. They are located on the main street that takes you into Edisto, and they have signs in front that you can't miss. What really made us stop was their sign about Key Lime Pie.
Wow, one of the BEST Key Lime Pies we have had. Probably almost at the same level of the Key Lime Pie of Blond Giraffe in the Florida Keys. Pie crust instead of graham cracker crust. Flaky and tasty crust. The filling was thick, creamy, and had the perfect balance between sweetness and tartness. It comes with no topping; no whipped cream nor meringue.
This small market is well stocked with all different dry staple items: jars of pickled vegetables; jars of jelly, jam and honey; jars of chow chow; different kinds of grits; cornbread mix; several varieties of specialty bagged rice, and many more dry staple and jarred foods.
There is also a great selection of fresh, refrigerated and frozen foods: flowers; herbs; produce; fruits; local beef; eggs; dips and spreads; soups; salads; sandwiches; casseroles/meals; baked goods; desserts; ice cream; etc.
They also sell merchandise, like baskets, postcards, t-shirts, and other small items.
The store is small and all the times we came here to restock it had lots of patrons. Therefore their products run out quickly, even when the employees are constantly restocking them.
We thought the prices were fair to the quality of products sold.
They take debit/credit cards and cash .
The staff is friendly enough, all of them wearing masks; and there is adequate parking. There is a porta-potty outside by the parking lot.
Everything we purchased here was amazing!!! It made eating in at our rental very easy and enjoyable. We didn't try all of their products, but the ones we bought and are worth mentioning are:
Of course, the Key Lime Pie: which I already described, and the reason why we stopped here.
The Vidalia Onion Pie: creamy, tasty, and with their signature pie crust.
Susan's Breakfast Quiche: one of the best quiches we have had, even though I wouldn't consider it a typical quiche, but more of a breakfast casserole. Still, one of the best!
King's Corn Pie: delicious!! It makes a great side dish. Yet it is really not a pie, but a corn casserole.
Tomato Pie: very good, made with their wonderful pie crust. Although their pie here is not as good as the one we had in Beaufort, SC.
This is a great stop to stock if you are staying at one of the rentals on the island and then stop on your way back home to take their amazing products with you...you will crave them!

Friendly staff, good selection of fruits, veggies and ready to bake entrees. Also very good prices on pies and cakes, baked in their kitchen. We can attest that the key lime pie is tasty as is the chicken pot pie.
The Coastal Discovery Museum is a learning center situated on 68 coastal acres. It offers educational programs and guided walks through ancient buildings, trees, and wildlife habitats. The venue includes salt marsh boardwalks, open fields, gardens, trails, and a butterfly habitat spanning 1200 square feet. This habitat is home to around 13 species of native butterflies found in the Lowcountry region. Visitors can explore the natural history and cultural heritage of the Honey Horn property.
This is a great spot to visit if you have an hour or two to explore the inner exhibits and the exterior trail. It's a very educational place and is great for all ages. We went in the rain which wasn't bad. We could still are our way outdoors with an umbrella and raincoat. We especially liked the history and lantern exhibit. Quite a nice treat.

This little museum is an absolutely wonderful thing to do if you enjoy nature walks and scenery. There's chickens, a horse, bee hives, a camellia garden, a carnivorous plant garden, a butterfly house (butterflies are released for migration October-April), a piece from a NASA rocket, and plenty more 🥰
The volunteers were all incredibly sweet, one of them gave me several cuttings after she noticed me admiring a potted plant near the front desk. Which made my visit that much better.
Highly recommend it! But not great for a rainy day, as most of it is outside. Entry fee is just a $5 donation :)

We had such a great time! We spent the first part exploring the indoor museum and were treated with animals, history and an amazingly knowledgeable volunteer who helped us gain our bearings and truly made us feel so welcome.

We had such a great day at the coastal discovery museum. The grounds are beautiful. There are so many things to see and learn about. A great learning environment for kids and adults.

Great spot to visit and learn about the island wildlife. There is a museum (with lots of info about the birds, fish and turtles), a few outdoor (and partially shaded) exhibits including a butterfly house, two walkways into the marshland, and a couple small barns. It's free for the most part (you can leave a donation if you want) and there is a small gift shop if you want to buy a souvenir. Overall this was a fun and informative place to go.
Mike Moore — Google review
The museum itself was delightful. But I paid full price for a ticket for the Gullah history tour, and I felt it was way overpriced. I would have liked more information about the history of the Gullah people and their culture here on the island and not just pointing out neighborhoods where they lived. There were very few butterflies in the butterfly house, and there were no carnivorous plants growing in the carnivorous plant exhibit.

so awesome!! visiting this museum was free (but they do accept donations!) and it is a beautiful area to walk around. there is a great butterfly garden that you can walk through, pretty trails, and they even had a little meet-and-greet with some animals (this was $7 a person, but it’s totally optional. i would absolutely recommend, though!!). we got to hold a corn snake, turtles, and baby alligators. the staff was super friendly and nice and i would love to go back.

We stopped in to the museum to check it out with our 8 and 1 year old daughter's. There is a lot to explore on the grounds and inside the museum. They have a scavenger hunt for the kiddos to do which involves hitting all of the checkpoints on the map. Great for a quick home school lesson if you're on vacation and playing hooky! This kept us busy for a good couple of hours while exploring and learning about the low country and all it has to offer, as well as the history of the land. We visited towards the end of March and I think with it being the off season, the grounds needed some attention and they could stand to update a few things but all in all, it wasn't bad. I would assume it's a little more lively during the peak season. There was no entry fee but they do accept donations. There was a kids room inside the museum with their pet turtle and some other fun things for them to play with. There's a lot to learn inside and out. I would compare it to a National Park welcome center and gift shop. We're glad it wasn't raining because the scavenger hunt and trail are all outside so be prepared and plan for a fair weather day!

Sea Pines Forest Preserve is a protected natural area that offers various activities such as walking paths, boat tours, and an archaeological site constructed with seashells. This wildlife habitat, known as the Sea Pines Shell Ring, has been designated as a historic place and boasts diverse landscapes like bridle paths, wetland boardwalks, bridges, and fishing docks. Visitors can also explore vast areas of untouched nature including rice fields and swamps while observing the local flora and fauna.
We had a wonderful time at both the Walking & Driving areas of the Preserve. If you're not staying at Sea Pines or have a pass already, you will need to purchase one. The day pass was $9.00. The trails on the walking areas were well maintained and marked. The Rice Field Boardwalk was just teeming with wildlife. The Vanishing Swamp boardwalk didn't have much wildlife, but the foliage was gorgeous. The driving area was beautiful with the ponds and wildflower area. Very narrow roadway. Overall a very lovely, well maintained preserve.

If you enjoy beautiful 3-mile nature walks, you will enjoy Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Well-marked trails meander around several lakes in the preserve, allowing for sightings of turtles, alligators, and assorted birds. Boardwalks navigate over former rice fields and swamp land. Horses travel down designated bridal trails and recreational bicyclers enjoy the preserve on wheels. But it's mostly hikers, more during tourist seasons and rather sparse during the cooler fall and winter months. In the middle of the preserve near Lake Joe is Fish Island, a place with a shelter, picnic tables, grills, drinking water, and portable toilets. And at Lake Mary, Fisherman's Point extends to the center of the lake with a fishing deck. The trails are easy, and families with young children can often be seen enjoying nature together. Maps of the preserve may be picked up at the trail's entrance. There is a charge for non-residents to enter Sea Pines, but there are opportunities in Sea Pines for hiking, biking, shopping, golfing, and dining, all in beautiful settings.

Really pretty location. Lots of easy trails to hike on for hours. We were here in the winter time, so we didn't see too many animals. I'd say the most lacking thing is the restrooms, there just weren't enough of them for the size of the park.

Day pass fee is 9 dollars per car, pretty reasonable I thought. We just did the preserve but there seems to be an entire world back behind that gate! Who knew?? The preserve is very nice, flat trails very well marked. The raised walkways through the swamps are in great shape, we saw tons of Anoles (small lizards), Heron, ducks and other birds and I'm sure in warmer weather there of lots of gators. Great place to walk the dog or kids!

Shelter Cove Community Park is a very well-designed shopping center, community park for the whole family to enjoy. All of the photos were taken on our recent visit at Christmas and the park is just beautiful! The playground is great with rubber mulch and very cushioned for wild kids like mine:). Large grass area to run around or picnic with the family. Hilton Head puts on events there all the time such as movie nights under the stars, snow at the beach, 4th of July celebrations etc. Check with the community calendar to make sure you don't miss out on any of the great events going on there. This is a park we often take people that come to the beach to visit us. They always seem to maintain the park very well and we will continue to go there as it is just a great place to hang out, walk around, shop, eat, date night and of course go and see Santa Clause at Christmas!

What a beautiful park! Driving through seems as though you're entering a rain forest. Gorgeous beach and amazing lighthouse. We were disappointed to find out upon arrival that the lighthouse is closed.

Tranquil, relaxing beach in October. The water was still warm enough to swim. Clean shoreline and the palm trees behind the sand make a peaceful backdrop.

Quiet, relaxing beach. Great for shell hunters. Picnic area for family gatherings, with tables and grills.

We went twice in one week. The visitor center is a nice first stop. Lighthouse is at the upper (northern) beach with picnic tables (gnats drove us away from lunch there, however, early March). You can find some shells, but had better luck last year. Saw some people on horseback. Not crowded at all; plenty of room! I explored only a small bit of trails; looks great if you want to hike or bike. The road into the park is also beautiful.

This is either the end of the world or it’s beginning. Excellent beaches, inland trails, scenic views, camping / campgrounds, fishing piers, history, etc. etc. If you are in Beaufort, go. If you’re in South Carolina, go. Just go!😀

Gorgeous. Miles of beautiful beach along the Atlantic Ocean. The museum was so informative. Can't wait to visit again. Hopefully the Lighthouse will be open to the public

This was our first time visiting and we loved it!!! Driving to the beach you feel like your in a Jurassic park movie!!! The beach is beautiful, filled with shells!! And the lighthouse is magnificent! Be sure to go see it, and there’s a cute little gift shop too!!! Also…. The boneyard beach is simply amazing!!! I’m sure if you go you will enjoy this beautiful area as much as we did!! ☀️🌴

This is our 3rd visit to this South Carolina state park and it doesn’t disappoint! Our campsite was on the perimeter of the campground and backed up to the primitive campsites of which none were occupied during our visit
The RV sites have electric and water, fire pit and picnic table and many are heavily wooded and private. Its more of a hard packed sand rather than gravel site for parking. The store has ice, firewood and other supplies.
There’s a trail that you can walk to from the campsites as well as beach access. Other trails start from the 2 other entrances along Sea Island Parkway as well as a short hike on the sound side which connects small islands out in the marsh via boardwalks. That’s a great place for birding. We saw a river otter and 4 Bufflehead ducks hunting fish in the marsh. The trails all offer a variety of scenery from forest to marsh to beach including the ghost forest at the south end of the island. Its a photographer ‘s paradise !

Love this place!!! We have been going every year for 14 years. I enjoy the NOT crowded beach, the lighthouse, spacious sites, unique finds in shells & the wildlife. The last couple years price has went up & have started adding fees per night if you bring a Golfcart-so be sure to check for extra charges-love they added a place to wash & dry clothes!
Coligny Beach Park is an oceanfront recreational area featuring well-maintained walking and biking paths, as well as amenities like Wi-Fi, swings, and the option to rent beach equipment. It is a popular destination for families as it is conveniently located near a playground and the Hilton Head Island Children's Museum. Locals also frequent Islanders Beach, where they can enjoy grilling facilities and picnic pavilions in addition to swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.
I love this beach park. The trees are so beautiful and the water was so clear. They have lots of pine trees and the bright green leave plants. I also love that parking was easy, at least when we went in December. They also have bathrooms and showers.

Free public access to the Atlantic Ocean in a Hilton Head Island, SC! Beautiful boardwalk bringing you into the heart of the park. Clean restrooms, rinse off area, changing rooms and lots of shaded seating stops. Wheel chair and scooter accessible mat also available. Beach with lifeguards is very clean with several umbrella chairs and prime seating for families enjoying the day at the beach. Would definitely return!

Beautiful beach with all amenities like washrooms, foot wash, changing rooms, showers, parking.
Walk to the beach is a pathway with beautiful trees, you can take your carts along with beach chairs.
During the day beach was quite jammed but when I went in the morning around 7am it was much less crowded and looking more peaceful and beautiful then the day.
Water of the beach is very very salty so if you skin allergies take precautions.
You get Chairs along with umbrella shed on rent but I did not take it so don’t know the rent.
P.S- I would request to each of you reading the review not to leave your plastic cans/items near the beach( I saw many during the day visit). Also other request would be to minimize the use of plastic so that our oceans don’t get destroyed.

Wonderful beach! Very clean and well maintained. We loved the walk up to the beach. There is plenty of seating where you can just rest and admire the beauty of the park. Just a short ways from the main Coligny Beach Park entrance, there is tons of safe, free parking. People (tourists and locals) are very friendly and will guide you if you need help. We particularly loved the outdoor changing area because we visited the beach again on the day we had checked out of our hotel. We were able to let the kids get in the ocean and play in the sand, and then come and rinse off and change into dry clothes right at the park. This extended our trip and gave us another day to enjoy the beach as we still had a safe area to get dressed. The park is close to tons of restaurants and shops. Just leave your car in the free lot and go explore. It’s worth it!

I live in Atlanta and don’t mind driving here because it’s clean, family-friendly, has free parking, and it really is beautiful. I love this beach! Lovely place to spend the day with my family

This place is really nice. The beach is usually very clean and well maintained. Has a nice long wide mat that makes it easy to get through the soft sand. There are some nice shops and places to eat. All of which are within walking distance from the beach and where you park. Definitely recommend coming here. FYI It does get crazy busy during tourist season

Cool beach, gets busy during hot days for swimming.
Many people around so it's mostly safe.
Nice sunrises over the Atlantic and decent sunsets.
Oceans can be flat as pancake or have 4-5 foot choppers in the same day. High and low tides add about 20 yards to beach area.
Fun place to people watch

This was our first time coming here. Making our way to Florida. This park is actually really nice & convenient! So many wash off showers, bathrooms are decent, swings to sit down and chill. The beach sand was so nice, there was some trash here and there. The waters are warm!! I've never felt the waters that warm before. I recommend this park though, it's a nice place to take the family.

FREE PARKING!
HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE right down to the ocean! There are mats lining the path that wheelchairs can roll on easily.
This place is stunning.
Very little shells on the beach. It's nice to see a city put so much into public access. Restrooms, showers, water faucets and more! The water was good and cold from the fountain which is a surprise.
The sunrise was pretty even if that one cloud blocked it a little.
Plenty of restaurants within walking distance too!

A beautiful park with lovely bench swings on the walkway to the beach. We were there in December and the temps were in the mid 50s. It was warm on the swings and cooler on the beach, where it was windy. If you dress for the wind it is a beautiful walk along the beach and not very crowded this time.if year.

A good beach access point for the public. It has all the necessary after beach clean up facilities. The restrooms were kept as clean as possible for a public restroom. There was good enough sanitations. The park had several shops and restaurants which were unfortunately all closed as I visited on Christmas day.

Coligny Beach Park on Hilton Head Island is a must-visit destination for both solo travelers and families alike, the boardwalk leading to the expansive beach offers an intoxicating blend of natural beauty and modern convenience.
The crown jewels of this picturesque location are the enormous live oaks that shade the park's well-maintained boardwalk that transforms the park into a cool retreat even in the peak summer heat. They're not just functional – these age-old guardians of the island possess a rustic beauty that adds a unique charm to the landscape.
The park's splash pads are a real delight, particularly for children. A fine mist keeps visitors cool under the South Carolinian sun, adding an element of fun to the soothing serenity of the beach. The area is kept clean and is perfectly safe, making it an ideal spot for families to create lasting memories.
Adding to the park's tranquility are the numerous swings scattered throughout the park. There's nothing quite as relaxing as swinging gently under the protective canopy of the oaks, enjoying the soft sea breeze and the hypnotic rhythm of the nearby ocean waves.
Coligny Beach Park is a harmonious blend of leisure and nature.

Best beach to spend an afternoon with friends. Very clean beach. Found sand dollars and starfish. Life guards and helicopter kept eyes on water for any potential threat of sharks. Warnings were given and everyone had to get out of the water. It was about 30 minutes. Then the all clear was given. Clean bathrooms. Definitely my favorite beach!

Beautiful beach, easy access and lovely rest area with water spigots to wash off your feet as well as showers to rinse off completely. Could use more parking but there isn't anywhere to add it - plus, it's walkable from many of the condos nearby. The sand was perfect and waterntemp was cold but bearable for an October sunrise.

Love the fact if you are in a wheelchair you can go and see the beach with no problem. Also if you have a hard time walking in the sand they have a cover over the sand in which makes it easier to get there. The cover doesn't get hot either.

Out of all my visits to this magnificent island, I never once had been to this beach access in Coligny Plaza, as I always have beach access inside Sea Pines, so I decided to try something new. What sort of local guide would I be if I didn't?
As far as the actual beachline goes, it's a beach, so everything there was what I expected it to be, but as far as the entrance, it was well-maintained and there were enough restrooms around! The beach itself also extends quite largely, so there's plenty of room for everyone!

Looks like a well maintained area, clean with restrooms, showers, swings, and short easy walk to the beach. parking upfront was easy to find as we went during winter. Parking was free. We didn't stay for very long but enjoyed the area quite a lot..there is shopping nearly and restaurants too. We saw lot of people with dogs too.

Great beach with a lot of space to set up chairs, blankets or whatever. A lot of walkable or bikeable stores and restaurants close by. Stations to wash off feet, showers and bathrooms. There is a wheelchair accessible mat at the entrance that brings you to the beach as well as beach wheelchairs you can borrow for free.

Coligny Beach is a high quality spot with nice facilities, including restrooms and changing cabanas. It’s a great walking beach, especially at sunrise. You can rent chairs and umbrellas ‘in season’. There is plenty of parking nearby.

The first time I had been there and it was very clean. It had a lot of added family touches. Share toys and clean up area for the beach. The changing rooms and the restrooms were very clean. I loved the porch swings as well.
