This is part of the US history. We have good, bad and everything in between to remember from our country's past. We can't pretend it doesn't exist and we can't view everything through today's moral lens. This is a nice park and within its boundaries lay the loved ones of many good families. The restrooms are clean and there are many BBQ grills and picnic tables available. Walking around the grounds should cause some reflection about the history of our amazing country.

Beautiful park, nice shaded area with picnic tables and grill for traveling breaks. The museum is very informative and the staff is very friendly and eager to answer your questions.

Beautiful place, with 2 pavilions and an old church you can rent for events. Even if your not a history buff, definitely a nice place for picnics, weddings etc. Restrooms are clean and the whole place is well kept. Staff is friendly and well informed.

We were up in Birmingham for an annual checkup. After that we had nothing on schedule so we looked up some state parks on our route back and came up on the Confederate Memorial Park: 437Road 63, Maubury, Alabama 36051. This is a large, well-maintained park supported by the Alabama Historical Commission. The park is beautifully wooded. It has a moderatly sized museum full of civil war era artifacts. Calvin Chappelle is the site director. He is knowledgeable and congenial. He knows his stuff and can answer any and all questions about the war. This particular location was where the Confederate Soldiers Home was located. There are several locations on site that are worth seeing that you can drive to. There are 2 cemeteries, a picnic area and several buildings that are original to the site. Bring you camera. Take pictures.

Beautiful, nicely kept up grounds, lovely tribute to the fallen heroes.
The museum was small in size, but had so much information it takes awhile to get through it! Many neat pieces of history in it.
We enjoyed exploring! We’re not able to go inside the church or barracks, but outside was lovely.
We detoured off the hwy on our road trip and so very glad we did!

kept up very nice for state park. almost on level of a federal cemetary. tree markers need to be replaced and benches need to be replaced with painted iron benches. wood even treated wood ages so dirty you dont want to sit down on them. also need more benches on some of the trails for old farts like me. LOL

The museum has some really nice items to be seen. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. Also, the entire park is clean and well maintained. The graveyards are well kept and rightly so for, the men and women resting there deserve the respect they earned fighting for the Confederacy.

Very informative museum and pretty grounds. The experience put faces to the post Civil War lives of military personnel. What a great way to preserve history.
Audra Powers — Google review
This place is really cool! The museum is like one that you would find at a National Park or in a big city, very well done displays and the artifacts are curated very professionally.
Going out to visit the cemetery and knowing the history behind the necessity for it is very moving.
As an extra treat they host several living history events throughout the year. Bi-annualy they completely fill the barracks and really bring the place to life! High quality reenactors come from all over the country to portray soldiers living in winter quarters and doing drill demonstrations. This year (2024) they had additional folks with horse drawn artillery and cannoneers doing standing gun drill as well as firing demonstrations. Hopefully they'll do it again in 2 years! Check the schedule for more information and dates of their events.
Lastly, and most importantly, the park's staff are great folks and VERY knowledgeable.
This place is a must-go and is great for day tripping from Atlanta, Montgomery, or Birmingham.
We had a great time on the Coosa! It was a pleasure talking with the owners and they answered our calls every time we called. They were very thorough going over information. We can't wait to come back!!!

What a fun adventure!! The river was awesome, Chris was super informative, chill and gave the best advice. I was a little nervous about the rapids but am so glad we did it! It was my favorite part of our whole trip. Strong recommend!

Awesome place. The staff and the guide Chris are awesome but a bit noisy. The old lady giving appointments was really sweet to us. We appreciate their work and helping nature.

Love this place. Great time Everytime I go down the river. Unlike some trips I've been on they do an great job at making sure your trip is not only fun but safe. If you haven't taken a trip down the coosa then you are missing out. Great restaurants nearby if hungry when finished on the water. Kayak sales also new and used. The total trip depends on you really. 5-6 hours is my guess.
Shane Soul — Google review
Was our 1st kayak trip as a family. We had a blast! Our son 15 is not & can not swim, but no worries the team fits everyone into the perfect life jacket & kayak. Very thorough & fun safety presentation. We got lost a bit from the crowd & had to navigate choosing which side of the river to take during the splits. There are rapids I believe 1-3 class sizes. Most folks I noticed stayed towards the right side of the river, once we got through the splits & could see them. I'm guessing those are the smaller rapids? We did hit 1 class 3 rapid, that flipped me. I rode under my kayak, legs tucked to protect from rocks in Rapids, holding onto my pattle, determined not to lose & be charged for missing equipment. Lol.. The kiddo & hubby didn't flip, but Oh my, it was so hot mid July, I didn't mind!! Riding the river is refreshing & part of the fun! It's a 4 hour trip (or) longer depending on stops. Take lots of sun block, water, pack lunches & yes grab the beer! They hand out nice mesh bags for trash. Don't be a jerk, keep the river beautiful & enjoyable for everyone, for years to come!! I mention taking sunblock, don't put on prior & think your coverd. We were all burnt except our son. We all had sunblock on, but didn't take to re-apply. Definitely a must to do! We are very happy we decided to take this adventure. Visiting our family in the area, as we traveled in from Columbus, Ohio. We will definitely be back!! Thanks to the staff for hosting us, making our trip so memorable & fun. I highly suggest visiting Coosa River Adventures & taking the trip! If you have ever been White Water Rafting, the Rapids are not near as bad, but a whole lot of fun! Some rapids are larger than others. In my experience if looking for the larger ones, hit the left side of the river! Wear water shoes incase tipping so you can grip the rocks to get back in your kayak, buy cheap sunglasses, hats & anything that can be lost in the river. Most of all have fun, laugh, enjoy the ride & flow with the river!! ;-)
Dee Patty — Google review
The water was high and the weather was perfect. Coosa River Adventures is a great adventure getaway. You park, check-in, get a safety talk, and then get on buses to take you to the drop in point. Plenty of places to stop along the way to swim or snack. Seven miles of kayaking, canoeing, or stand up paddle boarding down the Coosa River. CSA provides life jackets and have just about anything you could possibly need to purchase of you forget anything. Don't bring glass. Pack up all your trash and enjoy the river.
Michelle Morris — Google review
My best friend showed me this gem of a spot for kayaking years back, but it’s always something I look forward to when I can attend for the years that she’ll include this part her birthday festivities! The staff is nice & the bus ride down is great. So they’ll take you to the drop off point where you’ll eventually kayak (or paddleboard if you choose this option) back to the rental office/parking lot. Going with someone who knows the rapids is my suggestion for first timers, but it really isn’t that bad if you know how to get through them on your own! Bring food & make sure to go on a clear day because being caught out there mid-storm really isn’t the most fun but luckily there are little island like spots you can dock on to find cover. You can dock & swim wherever so that’s one of the BEST things about it as well! Also, I brought a big carton of goldfish that lasted the whole way & I bring this up because I highly recommend bringing food/snacks & packing it in bags or waterproof containers so it won’t get wet. Regardless, kayaking down the Coosa is one of my favorite memories/activities & one of the most fun things to do in AL, especially in the summer!

10 out of 10 experience I recommend going. Make sure you make a reservation tho. The Owners are great. Make the safety meeting so fun. I want to congratulate them on 25 yrs... the scenery is beautiful and it is an amazing fun time. Takes about 3 to 4 hours to get down the river. Thank you guys for the amazing day. As always. It was a blast.

I've been to this place about 3 times now and LOVE it. It's even better right after rainy weather because there are some rapids. If you blast through it's about a 3 hour trip but you can stretch it out as long as you are back at 5pm c.s.t. we try to always make it a day trip. Stopping to drink, snack, and swim all along the way. The owner is super cool and you can't beat the price. Just be respectful and have fun!

I've kayaked down the coosa with Chris multiple times, but this was my first time doing a purchase. I purchased four used kayaks, and he cleaned them up very nicely and delivered them for me. Highly recommend this local business!
Montgomery Zoo & Mann Wildlife Learning Museum is a 40-acre zoo in Montgomery, Alabama, which features over 700 animals from five continents. The zoo also has a museum with taxidermy displays. It is particularly popular with families, and offers a variety of animal encounters, including an opportunity to get up close and personal with the majestic giraffe.
We love this ZOO. My wife and I stopped by on our way home from Birmingham Al. We spent about 5.5 to 6 hours there enjoying everything. I love the parakeets, and the flowers were fantastic. I highly recommend this zoo for a fun day with family and friends. Ticket prices are really good and the food prices are very reasonable and the food is good. This is a place to take your time and just enjoy it. We will be returning soon.
DragonTemplar Homestead — Google review
We went for Zoo Weekend, and the ticket prices for an adult was $18. A little steep for a zoo that really doesn't have too much to offer. The animal enclosures are small, and the animals do not look happy. I mean, when you have two cheetahs, you really need a lot of room for them to run. That's what they do, and then the lions? I've seen houses bigger than their enclosure. I just want to enjoy the animals when I go, but instead I'm feeling sorry for them. And any extra thing you want to do, it costs extra money. Whether it be the giraffe encounter or riding the train, it costs extra money. After paying per person at the gate the amount that they charged, how many people have the extra money to do the extra things. It should be all inclusive, in my opinion. Their food, now that was pretty good. And they didn't say anything to us about bringing drinks in from the outside, which we did for the little ones, of course. The zoo workers were all very polite. I'm hoping that the animal caretakers at least give the animals love and affection so that their time here isn't too strenuous.

We went on a weekday and were able to get in rather quickly with a low crowd. Several exhibits were under refurbishment when we went. Some of the exhibits were really nice but it was rather hot so the admirals were mostly hiding in the shade. We rode the train which was nice on a hot day but it costs extra. The sky liner was not running that day. We had lunch at the cafe The food was standard fast food with hamburgers and chicken strips. There is a large seating area outdoors. It is a small zoo but fun to take small kids for animal encounters.

We traveled from Middle Georgia to visit this zoo. Our 4 year old is autistic and we thought the smaller size and slower pace would be better for her than the Atlanta Zoo.
We carefully planned our visit and chose this zoo because it is one of the few places within a days drive that has lions (for our 7 year old).
We were pleasantly surprised to receive half price admission on a Wednesday. Unfortunately, we were terribly disappointed to learn the discount was due to several major exhibits not being open. We did not see the lions, giraffes, zebras or lemurs.
The website is outdated. Call and confirm before you go. The Mann museum is advertised as "touch and feel" but the hands on exhibits were removed for Covid and haven't been replaced. As several others mentioned, many areas were closed/under renovation. The train ride was OK, but as another reviewer said, commentary from the conductor would have been a nice touch. The petting zoo is just a fenced in area with a few goats, sheep and a Llama. You don't actually go in, you stand at the fence and try to coax the animals over so you can pet them.
If you are within an hour or 90 minutes of Montgomery, it's a good visit. I wouldn't drive any farther than that to see this zoo. (We drove 3 hours each way)
Maria Scott — Google review
Cute little zoo. Great for small children and can get through in a couple of hours. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo and playground. Food isn't ridiculously priced. Just wish there were more indoor exhibits to get out the heat on really hot days. Going in the colder months is definitely preferable.
C Kenton — Google review
You can get fairly close to the wildlife. The cost is not too high for a year pass. The site is fairly clean. But the 3 dollar train ride is not worth the money and the fly over ski lift like overlook is not running this time of year. There are lots of great animals to see but the snake and lizard exhibit is at least half empty.
Andrew Brinley — Google review
Overall a nice zoo with a good variety of animals. We saw some ants/flies around a few of the animals and their food, so I feel like that could be improved. A few of the enclosures seemed too small in relation to the size of the animals.

Montgomery Zoo boasts a variety of captivating attractions. The Giraffe Encounter stands out, allowing visitors to get up close and even feed these majestic animals. The Zoofari Skylift Adventure offers a unique perspective, providing picturesque views of the zoo from above. The Stingray Bay exhibit provides an interactive experience, allowing guests to touch and learn about these fascinating sea creatures. Additionally, the African Elephant and Cheetah exhibits showcase the zoo's commitment to conservation and education. These attractions contribute to making Montgomery Zoo a well-rounded and enjoyable destination for all.

This is a fun little zoo! Took us about two and half hours to see it all but had the most big cats I've ever seen in one zoo! Lions, tiger, jaguars, lynx, cougar, cheetah and snow leopard! Lots of shaded area's and play equipment for small children. Friendly and courteous staff, also skylift and train rides. SIDE NOTE ON PARKING: Parking is free but when we arrived at 9am on a Friday just as they opened, it was full and people were parking on the grass. We did the same but security came and told us to move, we said what about everyone else on the grass and he said he didn't catch them lol! No biggie they have overflow parking right next door just be aware of this because we weren't. Fun day overall!

It was a Girl Scouts trip planned and the entire family participated. The weather was fair but we ended the tour early due to lighting watch and ⛈. They have divers of exotic animals and INFO boarda to read up on the creatures. We got to ride the train, pet & feed the 🦒, and ride the skyline. We didn't get to enter the petting zoo due to early weather close. However, definitely recommend to take family or go on a date. Food and drinks was fair and the store has a small inventory. Thanks for a great experience.

Great zoo for a fun day out. FLAT and easy walking. They have an array of animals, a great playground, many shaded areas with picnic tables and even misting stations for those hot summer days. They have a train ride $3, it doesn't stop and you really don't see any animals but it does take you completely around the outer-band of the property. Kids loved the parakeet feeding, $2 for a stick of seeds. Giraffe feeding is $3 but you don't get much for the money. Everyone there was so friendly ... ticket counter, security, gift shop ... all super nice and helpful.

Me personally did not enjoy it. The wood is falling apart and overall it really needs some maintenance. The animals look poor. Not to mention only a handful of animals were out. The train ride isn’t the same. They use to announce exhibits as you pass them now you just ride in silence. Very disappointed. But my grandson loved it.
Jessica Delmonte — Google review
Was an overall decent experience but not too many active animals. It was a very hot day though too. A bit pricey but nonetheless fun. The elephants were engaging and one even went for a swim. Food was good and kitchen staff were all super friendly and inviting. Feeding the giraffe was a hit for my family!

The place is so well kept and pretty. Travelled on a day when most things were kind of closed. But still got to experience the train ride. The Mann museum is such a knowledgeable place. A great learning experience. The details on the animals are so well portrayed. Their origin and all. Peacocks all over the place, amazing view. Andddd they have a freaking photo boothhhh!!!!

We came when children were at school so it was pretty empty. Would've been perfect if the staff were friendly. The young woman in the cafe made it better. The food wasn't good but the kids got hats and cute cups to take home.
Constructed in 1835, the Jefferson Davis First White House served as the Confederate president's home during the Civil War. The mansion is now a museum where visitors can explore period pieces and learn more about Davis' role in history.
Very interesting and nice volunteers. Self-guided tour, but they are more than welcome to share history with you. It is also free, so very budget friendly.

This house was, for a short time, the official residence of Jefferson Davis, first president of the Confederate States of America. Other than that, it is merely an old house filled with old furnishings; I didn't feel it gave me any particular insight into the man or his life and times. On the other hand, I like touring old houses and didn't mind spending 30 minutes or so in this one. Many of the artifacts were personal items used by Davis and his family and the history of the Antebellum furnishings, including who made and owned them, is thoroughly described.

A great learning experience enhanced exponentially by Mr. Brown and especially, Mr. Whelan who was kind enough to show us around the rooms of the home and shared various details about the items on display. It would be easy to skip over difficult parts of history, but I'm grateful to have the opportunity to learn a different perspective. A wonderful visit and FREE!

The first White House of the Confederacy is just that and was the home to the President of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis.
Here, you will see how he lived as the rooms are all furnished to look like it was when he lived there.
Imagine Robert E. Lee visiting as well as other leaders of the time.
The house is really a museum, and the upstairs holds original clothes and relics of the Civil War, or as many would rather say, the War Between the States.
Swords, personal items of Davis and others as well as flags, letters, shoes, money and so much more are on display.
A visit here is a history lesson like no other.
Believe me, you will have a deeper understanding of those times that changed America.
It's free and the man who takes care of the place and answers questions and shows you around is not only knowledgeable, but friendly.
Thank you.

The Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church is an important historical site in the city of Atlanta, which is known for its role in the civil rights movement. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. served as the church's pastor from 1954 to 1960, and it was during this time that he led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The church has since been recognized as a National Historic Landmark and remains an important part of Atlanta's history today.
I have seen this church on T.V many times during my childhood. I didn't know the church was right across the street from the state capital. Beautiful old building that still serves as a house of worship. Very historic very nice. I recommend seeing this landmark

With it's stained glass windows and woodwork make this a beautiful church. It is inspiring to be in a church where Dr. Martin Luther King was the pastor. It was easy to imagine him at the pulpit spreading the Lord's word and advocating for equality. There is a mural that tells the history of Dr. King and others that stood for equality and segregation. It is quite interesting and impactful. The tour was great, it didn't disappoint. Nikki showed us around, she was wonderful!!!!! She explained everything and interacted well with my special needs daughter. There was another women, I didn't get her name, was just as sweet as Nikki. You can see the spirit of the Lord working in these ladies. God bless you all.

I took a tour($10) of church. You can take pictures but someone from the group must be in the picture. They have a small gift shop with t-shirts for adults and children, writing pens, pencils, magnets and other great gifts. Be prepared for walking up a flight of stairs. No elevator. The sanctuary is beautiful and original.

Pretty church in downtown Montgomery that was an important location in the Civil rights movement. If you're visiting civil rights sites in the south, it should be on your stop. Across the street is a marker commemorating Jefferson Davis' inauguration and is easy walking distance to the Alabama state capital building where he took his oath of office. Oh, the irony of the start of the Confederacy, and the civil rights movement. Happy to see the civil rights movement ultimately winning the war, though, the battle continues to this day.

Even just stopping by the outside and reading the plaque out front invites a spirit of reverence. Martin Luther King’s fight for civil rights reminds us all to stand up and stand firm in the face of adversity and the church here is a perfect example of maintaining that message.
The Dexter Parsonage Museum in Montgomery, Alabama is a historic home where Martin Luther King Jr. lived and served as pastor from 1954 to 1960. The museum features exhibits on the history of civil rights and Dr. King's life and work. In addition, the property includes a garden filled with stones inscribed with Christian virtues, which is a reminder of King's journey from Montgomery to Memphis.
The museum, which was once the residence of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his family, is a beautifully preserved slice of American history. I recently had the privilege of visiting the Dexter Parsonage Museum on South Jackson Street in Montgomery, Alabama, and I am utterly captivated by the experience. This museum is not just a collection of artifacts; it's a living, breathing testament to the heart and soul of the civil rights movement. The Dexter Parsonage Museum doesn't just focus on the life of Dr. King; it also sheds light on the broader civil rights movement, highlighting the struggles and victories of countless individuals who fought for equality and justice. The museum's commitment to education is commendable, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made and the progress achieved in the ongoing pursuit of civil rights.

Great hour tour. It was just what we were looking for on MLK day.
The tour might not start off great. They have you watch a 10-15 min poorly produced video of the home’s history before going over. In my opinion they could completely cut that out. The talking and in-person storytelling was much better.
The tour guide did an awesome job telling the story of 54-60 as though we were there. He had lots of anecdotal evidence and retrospection, meeting history. I don’t think he could have done a better job delivering historic wonderment to the kids in the group. He tailored the tour to the audience well.
There may be some points that are more round about, but the tour is a well spent hour of your time while in Montgomery.
Make sure to follow the Dexter Parsonage up with going to the MLK’s Church on 454 Dexter Ave!

It was so great to visit this house that Martin Luther King lived in. Wish I could have went in, but it was a Sunday.

We went to Montgomery to visit several of the Civil Rights Museum and points of interest and I knew I wanted to see the Dexter Parsonage to see where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King lived during their time in Montgomery. I found the house very easily with free parking available. I wasn't sure if tours were being given at the time but I knew it must have been meant for us to see when the security guard said "Looking for the tour?" I did not hesitate to go in and we were greeted by two women unbeknownst to us, has connections to the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and Dr. King. To me that alone was special. They have kept the house going and treats it with so much love and care. We paid for the tour and it was worth every cent; and in return we received detailed personal stories that are simply priceless. Each room in the house has its own story. It does get emotional and I was in awe of the furniture and items which takes you back in time. I will say it is the best tour I have experienced and if it is just you and the group you came with; the experience is tripled we were not rushed. All of our questions were answered. I want to give a huge thank you to the ladies' operating the parsonage. The overall experience was so pleasant. I adore this place and will visit again.

I enjoyed this visit unfortunately both works were on lunch so we weren't able to get inside to see everything. The one employee was able to assist with giving us additional information and history about the site. We will be heading back soon.

This tour was facilitated and led by women who were descendants of the Civil Right Movement in Alabama. These volunteers lovingly shared their personal and documented stories with us. This is an amazing tour. Thank you ladies! A must if you are in Montgomery!

Hidden gem! We were the only people there and got so much out of it. We had an awesome tour guide and are sad people are not visiting this place more. It's a historical landmark for the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. This place marked me personally and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone driving through or in the area.

You had to tour options we did what it was just a walk through the smaller one and the tour guide he takes you through the house and he talks about Martin Luther King as the man not the activist not the legend you read about in the books he brings Martin to life it was amazing and it was more than I thought it was going to be if you are in the Montgomery area you have got to make the stop if you truly enjoy history because the way they do these tours it's like you were invited into the home and you are invited to meet the man not the legend not the story. My husband who had no interest in going to this left happy and glad to hear done it
The Civil Rights Memorial is a museum commemorating the men and women who fought for American civil rights, from 1954 to 1968. The memorial is situated in an open plaza in downtown Montgomery and contains the names of 41 people who lost their lives during this time period.
This Memorial Center is very educational, The visual displays and movie clips are very educational and the museum guide/narrator is very knowledgeable, she explained the historical events very well.

This is a memorial for all the documented lynchings. And the ones that were not documented. Very beautiful. And knowledgeable as well because everything is in alphabetical order so you can find whatever county in the south and see how they got down in the past. Sad how they did my people and we still have a ways to go

That place has a solemn atmosphere, as it holds the stories of sadness, struggle, and resilience. A strong hope lingers there, like a distant beacon. We strongly recommend you to visit this place. You will come out with a different perspective and feeling.

While in Montgomery for work, I visited the Civil Rights Memorial the weekend before Election Day, in the heart of the Confederacy, where some monuments still stand.
The 'Traveling While Black" exhibit is a virtual reality experience, allowing you to sit in on conversations at Ben's Chili Bowl (a safe haven for Blacks), as we weren't welcomed in restaurants, hotels, gas stations, etc. on our journeys. It'll be open until January.
Stirring, haunting presentations of this country's racial struggles were admittedly hard to watch, but this visit was needed. Though hurtful, it's necessary to see where we've come from to forge the path toward equality and justice for ALL. The division I see daily makes me sad for humanity, but I know there is hope. Change starts with ALL OF US. Let's purposely show that we matter to each other!

There are no words to describe this memorial. It’s a museum for everyone to see to understand the journey of African Americans in this country. Just like visiting the Holocaust museum my breath was taken away. This museum is huge, so I didn’t see everything but will definitely be going back.
Small dog-friendly park featuring a trail through bamboo trees & a frog pond in a serene setting.
Such a fun spot to find here in an adorable town! We drove from our travels in Montgomery just under 30 minutes to this wonderful bamboo forest. I was amazed with the size of the bamboo and the varieties. Very easy, short walk through the entire forest of bamboo. Took three kids and even the youngest (almost 2) enjoyed walking most of the way. Great signs with facts about the different types of bamboo that my oldest loved to read to us. It wasn’t a very long stop as it is a short walk but even for the 30 minute drive it was worth seeing at least once!

It was a surreal place if I were in Japan. But how the tornado destroyed glad of it and the lake was a mess, it's hard to see what was it like back then. Still, I enjoyed myself it was nice. I wish it was well-maintained.

Cool little trail, maybe half mile all together that does a little loop around a pond. Cool to see all the different types of bamboo. A lot smaller than I expected.

I was very excited to get to experience this bamboo park. I was off and decided to go and enjoy the scenery. It was very quiet and relaxing. I went very early and pretty much had it all to myself. It's open from sunrise until dusk so you have plenty of time to visit. This will definitely be a place to take a beat and reflect. It's a quick walk around the pond and a few trails off main path to explore. You will not be disappointed.

What a special find. I have never seen a better collection of several different species of Bamboo in a very easy to stroll park. Dedicated by people that love to grow things and have set up this green space just off the downtown area. Just a simple walk about 1/2 mile in a general loop. Free parking. Free admission and a really cool place to relax.

This is a very unique place to explore. There are several types of bamboo trees that surround you as you walk the short loop. A freshwater stream flows through the bamboo habitat. As we walked around the pond, we spotted turtles resting on a log. This mini bamboo forest was a beautiful nature area.

We ventured out with my kids to explore a new place while in town visiting family. The trail itself was very short, but plenty of interesting things to stop and look at. Very easy trail—not super stroller friendly due to tree roots but passable. My boys loved the stream area, which was tucked off the main trail. The bamboo canopy is actually very thick, so the entire area was super shaded, even at 2 pm, keeping us cool in the Alabama heat. There were various markers noting the bamboo varieties that you saw. Bullfrogs sounded off all over the marshy pond.

Awesome place to walk. Trail that loops through bamboo forest and around a small pond. People walked their kids and dogs and enjoyed the beautiful day. Many varieties of bamboo; some nearly 4 inches wide and 40 feet tall!

Beautiful short walking trail through the tall, tall Bamboo also a pond filled with frogs and turtles. Wonderful place to go to be alone with your thoughts while getting some exercise in the nature of you can sit and read while enjoying the sounds of happy frogs or take the kids and allow them to run the trails (maybe tire them before a nap 🙂).
Thank you Prattville for the beauty.

We brought a large number of students to review the museum and the interactive display was riveting! The students related well to the feeling of living through that time in America's not too distant past. The exhibit really carried them back in time. They understood more clearly the scope of the problems that motivated many of our ancestors to act as they did to secure their freedom. Great lessons for today's organizers. Well done!

We were in the children's wing on a field trip. I was disappointed that, although we were "riding" on Rosa Parks bus, they have information about the struggles of African Americans from 1840-1950's, which is important to know, but not much on what Rosa Parks did. It would have been nice to have footage in the video of that. They teased in the video, saying that something big was about to happen, but didn't talk about it. Instead the kids went on a scavenger hunt for info, but I don't remember that the info found was that much about Rosa, as well. I was just hoping that such an important woman would have more info about her.

We took the 45 minute time machine tour. It was really good and was presented in a neat way.
My vehicle broke down on my way back to my city. A nice couple stopped to see if anything they could help me. They drove behind me to get me to a safe place while I waited on AAA
roadside assistance. The gentleman went into Saks& Kon to let the deputy know that I was in the parking lot, it was close to closing time. He came back to ask me that if I needed anything that the deputy would be checking on me. It was awhile before the tow truck arrived. The Deputy did came back to check on before he left. He asked if I would like for him to wait for the tow truck. I thanked him ,that daughter was just pulling up. I did go in the area where there was some people was working they was very courteous asked if there was anything that the could do or if I wanted to stay in the building until AAA arrived. Usually I stop in and do some shopping, the associates have always been courteous giving some Awesome customer service. Thank you

Love this store... I picked up some Hey Dude shoes on my first Visit and on yesterday 1/20/24 I picked up a bogg bag. I will be returning. The ladies at the register are always nice and helpful. I recommend this store to find all kinds of shoes, boots, bags, clothes and belts. They also have kid shoes and things for men and women. They also have all sizes of the bogg bags. I got the small this time... next trip I will get the medium. Just go visit if you was wondering. Even if it's just for the experience. You won't regret it. Prices are average. They have sales.

We spent over $200 so definitely lots of nice merchandise - very reasonable prices.
The staff was awful! Lots of giggling gossiping teenage girls that were not helpful at all.
A kind older lady offered some assistance in someone else’s “hall” and then asked the girl who was in charge of the “hall” we were in to help us out.
Upstairs the girls were very pleasant though!
Overall the shopping was wonderful but the environment not so much!

Insane prices! Great shoe, cowboy boot and tennis shoe options; however, the prices are extremely high. If you are willing to travel, go to Nashville and visit one of the stores that does buy one and get one free for the cowboy boots. Was so excited to catch this mall on our last trip, but then massively disappointed when we got inside. The ladies clothes were also more organized like a second-hand store.

The HUGE February 20% off everything sale is gonig on and they certainly have the largest collection of HeyDudes and Boggs in the state. So many styles, patterns, and sizes to choose from.Wonderful large selection on name brand shoes and clothing at a fair price. The store is super spacious, well organized, and stocked with a variety of styles and sizes. I found all styles of oofus and multiple color choices in the new balance model shoe I was looking for. Staff were present in all areas of the store willing and able to assist with the politeness of southern hospitality. Conveniently located on the 231 Southbound side of the road with a substantial parking area, with picnic tables and a shaded spot to walk the fur babies to the right of the store. Hamburger King is just across the parking lot, so you can shop around lunch and keep looking. A great business we are happy to have in the small community it is nestled into. If you need boots, sneakers, sandals, or Jean's, this is definitely a place to check out. Wonderful for backpacks and hats, too! You can find the whole outfit and fashionable accessories as well. Ladies clothing is upstairs and bursting with cute , fashionable items. Ray ban sunglasses and western leather wallets by names like Ariat and Twisted are front and center in the display cases.

Amazing!!! The price at $22.95 per adult is comparable to other zoos and well worth it! Come in the morning when it's less busy. We bought the feed, romaine cup and budgie sticks. They give you a great guidebook to identify the animals. The petting zoo was nice and laid out very well. Excellent experience! Would absolutely come back.

We were here on 8/4/23. This place was absolutely amazing! We arrived mid-afternoon. It was 98°, with a heat index of 105°, and even with the crazy heat, THERE WAS SO MUCH ACTION!! We took the advice of others on here, and brought a large bag to dump food into, to help ration it out. Otherwise, it would have been gone quickly!! We would absolutely recommend this as a must stop for anyone, young or old! Absolute A+ experience that we would be excited to do again if we are ever in tje area! Including gift shop, safari, and quick walk around the walking area, we spent a little over 2 hours here.

Soooo amazing!! My 2 and 4 year olds were so excited. My husband and I also felt like a kid being able to be up close to the animals. I recommend getting 3-4 buckets of feed ($5 each). We bought 3. We dumped our feed into a bag and then adding small amounts in the buckets as you feed the animals because some of the animals will try and take the bucket or some will pour out in car as they eat. Camels especially love to try and take the bucket. Definitely get the bird feed stick $2 each. One per person is plenty

Such a fun place. Bring a vehicle that you don’t mind getting dusty and dirty and slimy. Well worth the money. The llamas are greedy and the camels are aggressive. Staff is friendly and helpful. Buy plenty of feed and don’t use it all at the beginning of the trail. The bird enclosure is very cool. The giraffe tower is shady and nice.

If you’ve never been to a safari park (ride), you are definitely missing out, big time!
It’s a must go place IMHO. Went to ASP, twice already and enjoyed both times. Will not hesitate to go for a third time. Didn’t know llamas were such a nice creature. Camels, zebras, giraffes, those Scottish highland cattle were memorable.
It’s a short drive from Birmingham, say 2.5 hrs. Costs about $25 per person. Definitely worth it.

Fantastic little safari park! Lots of animals in the park. Feeding the animals can be fun...but several of them are clever and will steal your feed bucket - especially the camels! I recommend getting a few extra empty buckets and just keeping a little food in them at a time.
Driving can be a little stressful, as some of the animals are very bold and will block your path on the road.
It's a great place for kids, but it might actually be a little scary for very young children. The animals can be very eager about getting food.
Overall, this is a great zoo. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restroom was spotless. And the price was reasonable. I'd recommend it to anyone passing through - kids or adults.

New favorite! This place is great. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to be as legit as it was, but I’m here to tell ya, they’ve outdone themselves with this whole setup! I think it was well worth the money. We were here mid-day in august and got to interact with probably every species here. The giraffes were friendly and I love that nothing is micromanaged. It’s all very open-air, and free to come and go, yet it’s still safe (I have toddlers). There is TONS of shade in the park area. Perfect for a picnic! Love love loved it!

We went during the day for the animals and again at night for the Christmas lights. To me it's more enjoyable during the day with the animals. Only disappointment was the giraffes weren't out bc it was cold and wet. **caution the camels will take the whole bucket of feed and they are strong!** Kids had a blast! Even the Hubs really enjoyed it. The night ride through is much shorter and some dude in front of us was spot lighting the deers which was annoying, but the lights were pretty especially in the walk through part

This is the place to go! I don't think I have laughed this much in a very long time! These animals are funny and I had my bucket stolen from one of them about 30 seconds into my ride! But we were warned and they told us how to hold them. I just didn't do the things I was supposed to. The giraffes were very awesome and you have plenty of room from where it tells you to stand. They will come to you, I promise! They have a few other animals and it doesn't feel like a zoo here, which was what I really loved. We will definitely be back!!

Great experience for the whole family, a must do. We paid a flat rate for the safari and it included unlimited rides through the safari itself and access to the petting zoo. Food buckets $5. The safari took about 30min we did about 10 mph, nice and slow drive. They had a bunch of llamas, zebras, camels, bison, water buffalo, huge African cows, etc. You can also feed the giraffes which was one of my favorite experiences. They are super friendly and come right up to your face ($3 lettuce cups you can keep the cup as a souvenir) . They have parakeet habitat you can walk into to qnd feed the birds. ($3 feeding sticks) We had a really good time and are definitely planning to come back in the future.

This was a wonderful experience! We went with our daughter and son in law And our 5 year old and 2 1/2 Year old grandchildren. We all had a great time! We rode in the back of my son in law’s pick up, while he drove through the park. We were able to feed the animals and we went around. It was so cool to get so close to the animals. Beware of the llamas! They do think that they should be fed first!. Ration the food so you will have some for all the animals. We bought several buckets (hang on to them tightly, they will try to steal the bucket) and then dumped them into a bag. That way we could put a handful into the bucket at a time. They do eat it fast.the grandkids absolutely loved it!

The llamas will drain your feed buckets quickly so try to stretch it with those guys. We saw each of the animals that were included in the safari guide book we were given so that was great. I didn't get any pictures of the budgies but their enclosure was a lot of fun. One came and sat on my foot and another tried to get into my pocket. The Kangaroos were lazily watching us and a giraffe grabbed my daughter's shirt (keep your distance and this won't happen)

Absolutely loved it here. When we went, only 150 acres were open due to the recent flooding but we still had such a blast. I saw some negative reviews about cars being scratched but I feel like that's common sense being around large free range animals. 10/10 want to come back in the warmer months.

We had so much fun! Right away, we were surrounded by cows and llamas, so hold on to your buckets tightly because they are hungry! We immediately spilled a ton of food in the car feeding the cows, so make sure you hold the bucket out far enough. The camels are very strong and will take the bucket right out of your hand! Zebras were awesome and the longhorns were amazing to see up close. We laughed the entire time and our kids were squealing in the back seat watching us feed these animals. 10/10 recommend!!

This is a must-do activity in Alabama! My friend and I (both of us 50-ish) spent almost 2 hours driving through the Safari Park and then visiting the petting zoo area, and we had the BEST time! We laughed so hard when the camel stole her bucket of food, when the zebra surprised me by sticking his head in my window, when we fed the very bold llamas, and when we got to pet the giraffe! Go! With kids, without kids, with a friend, with your family!
Located on Highway 80 about 6 miles from the entrance to the Park. Very large building with a new sign out front SELMA to MONTGOMERY Interpretation Center and a National Park Service emblem. Another emblem is on the face of the building. Entry is from the parking lot side. If you have a National Park Passport the stamps are at the front desk in the gift shop. Plenty of parking for RVs and quite a few picnic tables offering a shady break. Entrance is free and the Museum is well laid out. Strongly encourage if you have time to step in and view the video. Quite a bit of history that is important to remember. What is interesting is the museum was built on its location for significant reasons. One being it has six acres that were used by the marchers to camp for the night on their march to Montgomery. The design of the museum is interesting - the front resembles the Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and the dome symbolizes the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The bridge itself is 20miles to the right as you exit the Park toward Selma. There are statues and a small Park on the right at the bridge but parking is limited. More parking is available on the left side of the highway. The area with statues, plaques, etc. is to commemorate the Freedom Movement and those key leaders. However, probably due to city budget issues, the area is a bit worn out. Selma itself has fallen on hard times. However, if you have time you can use one of the handouts from the museum and drive past each of the churches where the marchers gathered and on Bloody Sunday sought refuge

12.30.2023. The video is must-watch. The stories are...tough -- but everyone in the US should know this part of our history. I'm glad the NPS person at Tuskegee recommended that we visit here.

My wife and I bookmarked this place on our way to Savannah and followed up with a visit on the way back to the Dallas area. I was in the fifth grade when the Selma to Montgomery march was made. Other than seeing that people were mad about something, I had no idea what was going on. The Lowndes Center gave a precise telling of why the march was held. For the march to have made it is testament to the determination of the people who made it.
On a side note, we were traveling with our dog. The Park Service employee informed me (when I asked) that dogs were not allowed. I took the dog outside and was surprised when a non-uniformed employee came out and volunteered to sit with our dog while I went to view the exhibits. It was above and beyond his duties to the center. I really appreciate the hospitality!
Sprawling cafe & gift shop offering a wide range of candied pecans, plus fudge & other sweet treats.
They make a lot of the items in store. You definitely need to check out the samples. The employees are nice and friendly and very helpful.
Enjoyed my time there and bought some stuff as well. I have also added some pictures from their catalog. ENJOY your visit like we did.

Great shopping here, we were able to pick up several gifts for people.
We went for the Ice Cream thinking it would be something homemade with Pecans. It was just commercial hand-dipped ice cream. We both got a cup with 2 scoops, me with Peach and Coffee, hubby with mint chocolate chip and Oreo cookie. Both were wonderful. We sat on the front porch and ate while it rained. You only have a view of 65, but we enjoyed ourselves.
We also got a pecan sampler to try and now I wish I would have bought more. Their pecans were so good! I will be trying to order from here soon.

Well, bathrooms, at least the men’s is clean. Don’t know about the ladies. Pecan based things, logs, bags, pies, different types of coatings, etc. All kinds of gift items. Touristy stored. Easy to get in and out of. Some parking for rv’s and travel trailers. Ice cream cones. Fudge. Comfy rocking chairs out front for the men to sit in.

I love this place! I just tried their maple glazed pecans that I purchased and they are amazing. I love how they have it set up like a shop and pecan store. They have this super delicious artichoke dip so I ended up getting the artichoke salsa too. The staff told me it's really good. People in there are nice and helpful.

Priester’s Pecans
Stopped on a 10-day RV trip. They have two areas sort of dedicated to RVs for a total of about 7 slots. Large crowd when we visited but we still made our way to the old deli section (great sandwiches) they also have a hot food bar and ice cream. Sandwiches cost us about $8 each. Large porch to sit in the shade and a large grass area to walk your best friend. Huge selection for pecan food and a large souvenir section. If you are looking for a sticker to remember your visit, check at the cashier. They have two options for small stickers and each is about $3

Great store. I have stopped here many times on road trips down south. The pecans themselves are amazing. They have so many different variety’s. They really have something for everyone Nut wise. Every time I’ve been in the bathroom here it is very clean. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The coffee is amazing. I always get at least two pounds when I go. On my last visit I decided to try there lunch. It was very reasonably priced and delicious fried chicken! I highly recommend stopping by!

Great stop off 65 for a quick, hot, home style meal and some goodies! Clean bathrooms, kind staff, and no fuss food. For the same price (or less) than other big chain restaurants, you get a meat & 3, bread, and a huge slice of pie! Kids plates were half our price but the same size (big win there) and actually ate the food. They loved picking out a fun candy afterward. We'll definitely be back on our next trip down!
Probably the best kept secret along the Robert Trent Jones Trail. This golf course is on the same level as Ross Bridge with regard to beautiful vistas.
The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in spectacular shape. The Staff are wonderful and helpful.

Wonderful views and great service. Jenny was very helpful and very certainly aware of what was happening on all three 9 hole courses. Since the restaurant closed at 4, she suggested we eat on the turn and she would let us know what course we could return to after. BTW the restaurant is a little known secret. Isn’t on the web, but it was really good food with great service.

Thoroughly enjoyed the round at Cambrian. We played Sherling and Canyon. It is a beautiful course, well maintained, and in very good shape. It’s quite hilly but that’s what makes it so interesting. Every hole is unique. There’s a good bit of water. The greens are undulating and can be challenging. We played on a Sunday in late March and the course wasn’t crowded at all. I’m not a great golfer and didn’t have a great round, but was still worth it. I would definitely recommend it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this slice of Music History!! Not far off the Interstate, quaint old home filled with lots of cool Hank music memorabilia. Loved the beautiful "story" quilt! My Husband got a kick playing his guitar on Hank's porch, in his kitchen and even enjoyed great acoustics playing his guitar in Hank's bathroom! Leona was a gracious host with wonderful local history, flavor and Hank Family stories!

$5 gets you in to the museum. My cell phone reception was not good in the area summer of 2022. There are plenty of signs to get you there. Parking is street parking, but there isn't much going on in the area so there shouldn't be an issue. Evidently there is an annual celebration for the birth of Hank Williams. A large building across the street that appeared to be closed but had a large sign that said "Hank Williams Fan Club" which I am sure is for any celebration related to him. There are many RV hookups in the immediate area for those who need it. There is a handicap ramp up to the entrance of the museum and a set of steep stairs. Original flooring is in 5 of the rooms, and the lady working said that the house had running water, but outdoor toilets when Hank Williams lived here. There is so much to look at here, it was overwhelming. Also pictures of other country music stars who have made the pilgrimage. This is in a small town between Montgomery and Mobile. Very small. I would recommend the trek to any fans of his.

My wife and I visited the museum today. A wealth of memorabilia and history in the house. The most awesome thing there though was the hostess Leona. We had the pleasure of listening to the story's she told of "Hank" for 15-20 minutes. What a delightful lady to spend time with. 30 years of knowledge, what a Godsend.

Sweet little spot, not far off the highway (5-10 minutes). I’m obsessed with old-timey American roots music and Western Swing, so my husband surprised me with a visit on the way to Montgomery…where there’s another museum! We’ve also been to Tupelo, the boyhood home of Elvis. The simple upbringing and hard times of their childhoods made them who they were, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton too! Only $5 for admission and a reasonable rate on souvenirs. The sweet lady selling tickets is a local with lots of insight. Humble places of decent folks like this make me proud to be a country girl, thanks for preserving his memory! #nobelprize P.S. We heard a train roll through the middle of town, as we were leaving. It was a fitting tribute! 🐕 🚂 🍺

As a c&w fan, I thank you for preserving this place
Needs a little TLC (faded signage, maybe power wash the awning?) but this is probably volunteer and funds-related (need more of both) so, understandable.
I read that absolutely no photos allowed inside and that's disappointing. Just wanted a picture of us inside Hank's house. Oh well.
Good selection of items in gift shop. But some CDs or 45s for sale would be appreciated!!
Small collection... did not take long to go through. Enjoyed it though

Hank Williams Museum
Georgiana, AL
Regrettably, Georgiana has fallen on hard times with most store fronts closed. RVTRIPWIZARD got us to within four blocks of the museum then turned us the wrong direction onto a less than friendly RV road. Fortunately, there was zero traffic and a quick search with Google Maps got us on track. Pulling a small RV, we parked along the train tracks but the care taker said we could park along the street in front of the museum. We would recommend parking in front of the post office building a short walk to the museum.
The museum has tons of Hank Williams information, pictures and the care taker was very knowledgeable. It does cost $5 per adult, there are some gifts/souvenirs, and a small fridge with cold drinks available for purchase. Plus a bathroom. She told us June is the busiest month as the town host the Hank Williams Festival. We could see a number of campsites for small RVs (water/elec only) on the museum grounds as well as on neighboring property. The old Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant building is just an old dilapidated building with nothing to suggest it’s former life.

Passing through and followed the signs to see Hank Williams home! Very cool!
I have watched To Kill a Mockingbird many times. The courthouse (which was constructed as a set in Hollywood) seemed very familiar because it is duplicated so well in the movie.
This town is where Harper Lee grew up. (Her and Truman Capote's have been torn down. The home of the person depicted as Boo is still there.) She spent many childhood days in the courthouse watching her lawyer father in court ( he practiced business, family, etc. law rather than criminal law).
GO GO GO GO!
jene robinson — Google review
If you have read Harper Lee or Truman Capote, and you are there, you MUST stop in. If you are there for their play of "Mockingbird', so much the better!
The folks running the place are wonderful, as they spent half an hour trying to find walking stick badges for us.
Don't let the $5 admission scare you, as we almost did. The BEST $5 we spent! And walk the grounds, see the sculptures and monuments.
12 out of 10!

Thank you to Monroeville for the hospitality!

A true piece of history. Words cannot describe how much knowledge lies in this building. It is one that should be experienced first hand. A little gift shop inside offers local goods as well. Was wonderful to visit this old gem in the center of a historical town.

When you walk in the doors of the Old Monroe County Courthouse, you can just feel yourself walking back in time! It still looks the same as when I was a child. The museum is an unguided tour of the courtroom and the little adjacent rooms. It's in one of these rooms that a video is playing. It's on this video that my grandmother speaks about her experience growing up in Monroeville. I took my son & my niece to see that video, and then we spent a few minutes in the courtroom. My great-great grandfather (and their great-great-great grandfather) was a judge in that courtroom, so that was pretty cool to think about.

I've been wanting to visit here for literally YEARS so it was an absolute joy to finally be able to do so. The town fair happening outside was a lovely bonus addition!
You can visit the ground floor of the museum for free; there's a $5 fee (as of November 2023) to go upstairs. But of course you MUST go upstairs since from there you can see the whole courthouse and sit in the galleries. It's self-guided so you can see whatever you like and spend as long as you like; it's uncanny how similar it all looks to the movie (though as they'll tell you when you arrive, nothing was actually filmed there - it was meticulously recreated on a Hollywood sound stage).
If you're a Mockingbird fan then this is a must. Hopefully you'll get a few moments when there's no one else too close by, so you can sit on a bench seat and look down into the main room and hear the echo - "Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing."

Wind Creek Atmore
Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Casino & hotel complex with formal rooms & suites, plus a spa, dining & an amphitheater.
This was my first visit to the Wind Creek casino and it was a wonderful trip!
I didn't stay at the hotel so I can't speak to that but the gaming was very thrilling. Not only did I win a little bit but I met a very nice couple in line at the buffet who invited me to eat with them.
The food was really delicious! I didn't make a pig of myself like I wanted to but I will definitely be back to try the other items they offered.
I love that there is a coffe/soda machine you can serve yourself from. I just wish they didn't serve Pepsi products. I prefer coke zero. Thankfully there's no smoking in the area I was in because I'm allergic. And it didn't smell like stale cigarettes whenever they're close to each other.
The entire day I kept hearing Jackpot alerts going off, so it seems like the slots aren't stingy. I'm too chicken to play too much longer once I win back my money.
I enjoyed my quick day trip up here and plan to come back, next time maybe to get a room and explore the grounds a bit more.

Overall we had a good time. But there were definitely things they could do to improve. For starters, we had a couple massage reserved and they called us to cancel. I was understanding of that, but it was a birthday package and that ruined that surprise. Secondly, we had a dinner reservation. On several different occasions I spoke with someone at the restaurant and each time I was told a different time, 6:15 and 6:30 for my reservation but when I showed up at the restaurant they told me I had a reservation for 6:45 however they did work me in. The best part of the experience was on Sunday at the cooking class, I would highly recommend it. After checking out with the front desk at 10 a.m. where she called and checked my room with the staff. I was called after 5 p.m. and was told I would be charged $150 dollars for burnt wood. I didn't leave anything smoking in the room ever. There is no way I burnt anything. I requested a picture of the damage but they wouldn't send me one. Wind Creek just lacked the professionalism and accurateness that I am accustomed to when visiting. I enjoyed my visit but there were several disappointing moments and they could definitely step up their hospitality and scheduling.

Great quick getaway package. From the moment we booked until checkout, the staff was very friendly and professional. We enjoyed our every aspect. The only issue is that the in-room refrigerator was making an weird sound the entire stay and the wood doors and cabinetry needed a really good deep cleaning. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoor pool are but we loved the spa! Can't wait to go back.

This was my first time staying at Wind Creek, and we had a very good time. The service was incredible, especially Amelia and Wendy at the front desk. I will absolutely go again for a weekend trip.

Excellent get-away. The hotel is gorgeous and very comfortable.
Wind Creek is such a beautiful resort / casino and has an amazing outdoor amphitheater which seems to be under utilized. Restaurants close early or are only open 3 or 4 days a week, so selection is extremely limited for anything later. The employees were all outstanding and very kind and thoughtful too.

Love the atmosphere here! It's electric!
There are many options to choose from, and the majority of the place is smoke free, but there are smoking designated areas.
This place is family friendly, unlike most casinos.
They have an outdoor seasonal pool, which is near the spa and cooking classes auditorium. For the kiddos they have an entertainment center which has a movie theater, a bowling alley, and an arcade, so the kids can play while the adults play, or if the adults want to do something other than gamble.
They also have a buffet with a variety of food options much like a mall food court. There is Italian cuisine, barbecue, seafood, burgers and wings, salads, Japanese cuisine, and breakfast options to choose from, or if you want to celebrate, there is also a steakhouse on the premise and the food and customer service are top notch.
I haven't had a chance to try all of the food options so this review is based on what I have seen and experienced for a few visits but I do sincerely enjoy everything about this location.
I've also never booked a room here, but if they are anything like the rest of the place I'm sure they are comfortable and festive.
Oh did I forget to mention the decorations?! The very first time I visited here was during the Christmas season, and they had decorations throughout the facility and occasional "snow" in the outdoor area for everyone to enjoy.
I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to go somewhere family friendly to have a good time, you may even win a few bucks to use for the activities 😉

The room was fantastic even with the construction going on! Great view and comfy beds. Service to the room was outstanding! We spoke to them daily. Service in the spa however was just meh. IMO services at the spa have considerably went down since I was there in 2021 or 22. The front desk person was not personable at all, as well as the desk where we got our shoes. I felt like we were rushed out also. My masseuse was just okay. There’s no point in asking what I wanted her to focus on if she was going to do what she wanted. I’ll be back for sure but I will be picky about who my masseuse is.

Golden rule - ***if there’s no tables at a casino don’t gamble*** It’s a decent place visually. Don’t come here expecting to win or get any good food after dark though. Hot dogs turkey sandwiches dry nasty fried chicken candy and old salad… There’s no tables, only machines. I’ve been to nearly every casino in the US. Every time they don’t offer tables they just steal money w machines. You’ll never win here. Drinks are strong and cheap for a casino though (so you’ll get drunk and lose your paycheck). The main restaurant isn’t good enough to bring me back. One and only visit here. Spent $500-600 left w none of it. Just wanted to show my girl a good time. We had fun but only due to our own company so goal achieved. * makes you give them your email to spam you so you can use WiFi. Place is a rip off.

I enjoyed my stay. My accessible room was very comfortable. I was glad to have a lower bed. My wheelchair is 19 inches high. I would like to have chairs with arms to more easily maneuver. I was very disappointed that room service had no toast for breakfast and could not offer any fruit for breakfast". The grill is so limited in its offerings. Spicy chicken and hot dogs was not very appealing. The best part of my trip was your staff, very attentive and accommodating.. I don’t understand your policies. You have staff all over the casino floor and restaurants without masks. The valet staff can come into my room to deliver and take my luggage. But the room service staff can not enter my room to deliver food! I have to get into my wheelchair, make it to the door, open it then juggle the drinks and food. And sign the check. Makes no sense to me, please contact me if there is a logical reason, I have not considered.

Rooms are very nice - restaurant and food choices are poor - casino can be very unfair by not getting bonuses or ones that payout good (like most of them and that is just the way any gamble is) but there are good machine choices if that is what you are looking for - Yet it does have a better chance for hitting a jackpot far more than all other casinos. Bowling and movie theater on location - is great but it mostly brings in the youth and that good for families and bad for other reasons

Me and my husband stayed the night here and it was just like it always has been, very nice, clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. We stay often and this time because the casino was packed, and the hotel was packed and I had booked through online gaming, the lady that checked us in said she would find us the room we had asked for when I booked...a king non-smoking and she did.....they upgraded our room to a partial suite and it is beyond beautiful! I would so enjoy being upgraded anytime 😉Also to note they are in the middle of doing some renovations, which are very nice, they said it could be a little loud at certain times, but we never heard anything. The renovations would not stop me from going back!

The hotel itself is a wonderful stay with the rooms, since the pandemic the food options in the market aren’t the same as the buffet they had previously …I will say customer service has taking a hard decline, from the food servers, hotel check in front desk, and even drink servers…. I’m disappointed but as a person that gambles that won’t deter me from going as the casino is still great …. The company should focus on retraining their staff on their customer service.

Windcreek Atmore is definitely the place to visit!!! It’s such a beautiful resort. We are visiting family and decided to go for a last minute trip. From the moment we arrived everyone was so nice and helpful. Checking in was such a breeze. There’s literally something for everyone to do. Our room was nice and clean. The pool is huge and beautiful with bottled water and towels on hand. We enjoyed delicious food and desserts at the buffet restaurants which includes has so many food choices. We then went to the arcade where everyone got to be a kid again and enjoy playing games. The movie theater was already closed but we will be sure to visit next time. We then enjoyed bowling at the bowling alley. So much fun that we all enjoyed. After putting the kid to bed, we just had to check out the casino and try our luck. The casino is nice and very spacious so many games to choose from and the drinks were good. All in all this trip was 10/10. We can’t wait to go back.

They only had take out (if I want take out, I will go to fast food place down the road). Loved the casino machines. The free coffee was delicious for coming out of a dispenser on the wall.

We have been to Windcreek Atmore before. This trip the service was better than expected, it was a trip for my husband’s birthday. We sat down to play a game waiting on our room to be ready and a representative came over and gave my husband a birthday candy bar! What a great start for the weekend. The room was good, all amenities were available. We ate at Fire restaurant and that topped all! Gaming floor and service were also good.

Can't say enough about how extremely pleased I was and what a wonderful time that was had at this location. The staff was great extremely polite and very nice to have a conversation with. The room was just beautiful. Very clean and was above any casino properties that I have stayed in yet. And I've been to casinos all over the country. The food choices were excellent. The complete staff that I had interactions with went above and beyond to be polite and seemed very glad we were on property. The food was really good!! The gaming floor is no smoking and that is a big plus. The games were very fair on payouts and very clean as well. The complete resort was just a very good experience for us. The room I was given was a king corner suite and it was just beautifully clean and very comfortable. I will definitely be returning and staying longer on my next trip. I was my birthday gift from someone and I'm glad I made this choice on my birthday. Can't say enough about how much of a wonderful time we had.
The locals, like myself, call this the Dolly Parton bridge. If we talk about directions someone will say "Once you cross the Dolly Parton bridge......."

A beautiful structure with breathtaking views. You will love driving or riding shotgun over this suspension bridge, especially at sunrise or sunset. Even during a storm, Mother Nature is so awesome to behold ona bridge over troubled water!
And when you think about what it must have taken to build this bridge, you can't help but to admire the amazing creativity and intelligence we posses as humans.
It can be a little scary to drive across, but if you can escape your fear for a few moments to enjoy the beauty, you will love it! #NuttieFoodie #RoadTrip

What an incredible experience to drive into the gated Steelwood Community and gaze over the 250 acre lake and the private 18 hole championship golf course. A huge feeling of peace comes over you as you ride into the development... nothing like it anywhere around.

Wow, this place is tough and beautiful. Course is in great shape and tough for an average hacker (amateur). Pin placement was ridiculously tough but it was a tournament. Service and accommodations are outstanding. Go enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

This place is like heaven on earth. As bad as I hate to say it. I hope the masses never find out how really nice this secluded private Coountry Club
really is, no highway noise or any other noises except for the birds and forest sounds.Steelwood's fishing is to die for. Let's keep this little gem small, private and running a positive flow of cash. I am a member of 2 private courses in the area and they do not hold a candle to this place. It is so private and secluded it is actually hard to believe within 30 miles of Mobile and Pensacola this place excist. If you have never even seen the place even though it is gated make a trip to Steelwood and take a walk around. You will be amazed. I was!!!!

A quiet natural settings snuggled into the woods around a full golf course on Steelwood lake 10 minutes north of I-10. Serenity, peace, and beauty abound. Fishing cabins, lodges for groups, condos and free standing homes are available for rent/purchase in a safe, gated community. Club membership not required, but available for those who enjoy other amenities of the country club and golf course. Alsofishing and hunting. Steelwood in all it's forms is heaven on earth!

What a treat — TJ and the staff out at Steelwood we’re so welcoming and offered help at every turn. The range and putting green are a perfect place to have a full day of practice or get a warm up in before your round (plenty of room, not too crowded, and a variety of targets). The course itself is a great layout — combination of tree lined straight holes with a few dog legs and the occasional water hole, as well as a good handful of shorter risk/reward holes. The greens were rolling about a 10 (April 2019) and I can tell in two weeks they will be absolutely perfect and probably will get up to a 12 on the stimp. Thank you for having us out, steelwood! We most certainly will be back!
Swamp sanctuary offers an elevated boardwalk with a close view of hundreds of alligators & wildlife.
The best laid out Gator Park we have seen. Natural habitat with boardwalk that lets you see some big gators that aren't caged. Simple facility, but we loved it. Highly recommend.

This place is so cool. The feeding show is great and the the owner was super knowledgeable and fun to talk with. He was like an American, southern back-roads Crocodile Hunter, he's the Alligator Rescuers!! The kids loved holding the baby alligator and albino python and feeding the big ones. I mean your right over some really big ancient beast, it is really awesome.

Loved this place. Bring a hat, water, and a hand-fan, because this place is sweltering. Was visiting Florida and had a great desire to see alligators, and this was a great place to do it. I didn't realize how big this place was until I got there, and just how many alligators they have. I didn't think to ask, but they must have around 300. They also have lizards, turtles, and snakes to see, which was cool. We got to see the end of the aligator feeding, so definitely plan your visit around their feeding times to catch that. We also got to hold one of their baby aligators, which was exciting. Overall, didn't have high expectations about this place, but was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the trip.

Fun family day at Alligator Alley! Being from PA, we don't get to see gators often. This feels like a small gator park at first but then it keeps going. This one feels more like a family passion than just a tourist spot. They excel at answering questions and spending time talking to guests. The back of the park offers a swampy area that is well worth the walk. We were fortunate to catch the swamp feeding as well as the bleacher feeding. We also enjoyed the various other creatures on display which created a great family memory all around. It was obvious they enjoyed what they do and they have fun doing it.

We had a ton of fun here. The highlight for me was getting to hold a small alligator. It was so cute and so much lighter than I expected. The swamp area was beautiful and there were so many gators in there. We got to see them basking and swimming. If you like alligators and nature this is a great stop for a couple of hours.

This place was a very pleasant surprise. The property was well manicured and a nice walk. Everyone one working there was very friendly and made the experience great. The place is surrounded be farm land but once your there your teleported to swamp in the middle of no where. If possible catch one of the feedings, sure you get to see the creatures eat but the guy doing to feeding had a lot of really interesting information about the gators 🐊 that I had never heard. The swamp was really cool to stroll through, the wife has some arachnophobia but the banana spiders couldn’t scare her away from enjoying the swamp. Met an employee that was working in the swamp answering visitors questions about the gators, extremely knowledgeable man. Really good experience, I’ll bring family and friends when they come to town, great place

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Alligator Alley. It’s so cool to see them up close…but not too close haha! They have food which we all enjoyed throwing out into the water for the alligators. They also had lots of reptiles you could look at and even hold. We got to hold a snake and an alligator! 🐊 I really liked seeing the different ages as they grew. The swamp walk was pretty cool too. So many alligators everywhere and they were so BIG! We even heard one growl and now we know what dinosaurs probably sounded like. The guide/caregiver in the swamp was super friendly and helpful with our questions. I’m sure I’m missing things, but go visit if you get a chance.

We absolutely loved this place. So many alligators and snakes. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. It was extremely hot and the kids still had a great time feeding the alligators. This place is sooo cool! There are hundreds of alligators, some snakes, and tortoises. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. We even got to touch and hold a small alligator. Our 4 year old was cautious, the 18 month old fearless. Most impressive is a massive boardwalk trail that meanders through a swamp.
Place was clean, staff friendly, a fantastic experience all around.

Be sure to bring a sweat towel, a portable fan, or anything you might need to keep yourself cool! I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area!

So fun and exciting! Gators didn’t seem over crowded and we’re semi separated by age. The staff has names for them which is nice to know they are cared for. Friendly staff and the person who fed the alligators was fun and informative. Learned some cool facts. Bleachers are in the sun, but it didn’t put a damper on our good time. There is a lovely room that has A/C to hang out and cool down for a few minutes. Also a snack bar that was reasonably priced. The “swamp” area was so cool- save some of your food for that part!

My husband and I loved Alligator Alley. We learned a lot and saw so much! This place is incredible! We bought 2 buckets of food pellets for the alligators and they loved it. This is a great place for everyone. Informative and just all around fun. The feedings are a must see.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is that these creatures need the warmth. So if you go on a 60 degree day they probably won't be doing much/eating much. I'd recommend going when it's warm. You'd probably see more action then.

Our visit to Alligator Alley was pleasant. Though it was in the winter to spring time (when the gators are not eating) it was a nice walk. You can have a birthday party there as well. Seating along the walking path for when you’re tired.
Under $20 pp.

The experience was again fantastic.
Came here 10 years ago as a child with my family and I wanted to go again, by myself for souvenirs.
Was scared to come in February, which is not the best season for alligators. However, I saw a lot of them and the staff… the staff is incredible, talk to them for minutes and it was fantastic !!
They can explain a lot a things about their animals, the farm, the weather, etc.
Let’s meet Captain Crunch !!! 🐊🐊

This is a rescue organization that takes in nuisance alligators, mostly from Florida. The alligators live in a lovely swamp with plenty of room to wander. They continue to breed here so you can see alligators of all sizes (over 700). This was a fun detour from the Florida panhandle!

USS Alabama Battleship is a museum in Mobile, Alabama that commemorates the battles fought by American sailors during World War II. The museum includes exhibits about the ship and its history as well as guided tours for visitors.
$5.00 to get into the park and $15.00 to take the tour. I was here for a ceremony and took a tour of the grounds. Other than the USS Alabama, there are airplanes and tanks, as well as a small museum.
There is a veterans memorial right after you enter the park. Definitely worth the trip, a lot to see and take in.

This experience was amazing we spent 6 hours touring this site. Everyone should visit to better understand history. This museum provides a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices that were made defending our freedom. Donations are appreciated to help preserve this priceless piece of history! The retired volunteer service personnel were a wealth of knowledge. This would make a great class or group trip.

The folks who handle this park have truly done a wonderful thing. With the limited support they get, things keep improving and more and more history is restored! The USS Drum and USS Alabama are great places to bring your family! They have a great system for you to view the ship and have done a wonderful job at preserving these two great monuments! They also host several events throughout the year! If you are any where near or just love history this place is for you!!!!! If you go make sure to plan a full day! They have so much to view and read. They also have a gift shop and food cart!

What a wonderful place. It is loaded with so much memorabilia from keeps, planes, submarine and of the USS Alabama battleship.
Self guided tour of everything but very informative plaques and papers and the battleship is well marked with colors and numbers.
You can go into both the submarine and the Alabama.
So much history and so much you don't know.
The only problem is it can be cold and slippery. Make sure you dress for it. Plan to spend 4 hours easily.

This battleship was SO awesome. You can go in and out of most of the ship but just be mindful of small children and older adults. The stairs to go up the different levels of the ship are steep and there are lips at the beginning of most of them. There are bathrooms on the ship if needed. The staff is wonderful and very friendly and I’d recommend for kids ages 7 and older. There is also a submarine but there was so much to do we will have to come back!

Wear comfortable shoes because you don’t want to miss a thing on this ship or the submarine with your grandchild! Fascinating stories, delightful perspectives from every member of the ship’s crew, and info on ALL aspects of naval life including a glimpse into the Captain’s Quarters. Sit behind the gunnery & armaments to feel their power while goosebumps shiver up your spine or just try to imagine life in those confined spaces on board. Quite an adventure.

Amazing museum! Very glad I got to go! I only went on the "yellow" your (magazine, guns, and superstructure) but there were many other self-guided tours that I would have liked to go on. Regardless, it was an amazing museum! USS Drum was also very nice as well! Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area!

We spent hours here exploring the ship and submarine.
So many places to explore, up and down stairs (wear comfortable shoes). The ship is well-maintained and you will learn a lot about the sailors life at sea.
The tour is self guided, so make sure you grab a brochure. It's super big and you're able to go into most of it.
Take your time and really appreciate all the work they've put into maintaining this amazing ship.

This place was awesome. Enjoyed the rich history. Enjoyed the submarine experience. Above all my favorite thing was the engine room of the shop. Hands down some of the coolest things. Our scout troop stayed the night and I would have enjoyed spending more time on board had I of known they allowed people to explore so much of the ship. This was fantastic for the boys to explore around just as much as it was for the adults. I absolutely recommend visiting and staying the night if you can. Be aware the racks you'll sleep in are very rigid so expect to basically feel as though you slept on the floor. Hope this is helpful.

Amazing experience: We got to learn about the ship and the submarine.
I took us like a good 2 1/2 hours to walk the ship and submarine, we enjoyed it, but some parts are very hot, bring water with you.

Lots of fun here! It's great that you have a self tour. You can view the vast size of the historic battle ship, submarine, and aircraft inside the building. It takes several hours if you want to view everything in detail. Rich history to learn indeed.

There is so much to see and everything is well cared for. It is too bad that the self guided tours lacks any information aside from notating stops. And the ship itself doesn’t have much in the way of placards.
The submarine is much better in terms of descriptions.
This would be an excellent museum if everything was well labelled with a good dose of storytelling prose.
Expect to spend at least 3 hrs

Amazing experience! We visited USS ALABAMA and USS DRUM with family (two adults and three small children) and had a great time. Nevertheless there are some downsides about this place.
It’s a self-guided tour so if you’re familiar with military history/service then lot of the things are pretty much self explanatory. However, for those who’re not familiar with military equipment and history this experience may not be so much fun.
Also, be prepared to go through very tight entrance/exit and steep stairs. If you have knee problems you may not be able to fully enjoy this visit unfortunately.
Moreover, admission rates are rather high in my opinion ($18 per person regular admission for adults and $15 w/Veteran discount + $5 parking fee no exceptions) for it being a public memorial park. It would’ve been nice if the rates were somewhat lower. Even with a veteran discount the rates are still high. Fees really add up especially if you’re visiting with a larger group.
Lastly if you have a wheelchair or a baby stroller/wagon you’re going to have a problem accessing 85% of the park site.
All in all there’s plenty of interesting and fun things to explore. You can take lots of interesting and unique pictures in and around the battleships. Our family had a fun and enjoyable visit. If any of the above mentioned “issues” don’t bother you then this a great place to visit for sure.

The hubs is a history buff, so we knew we had to stop at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park on our way back to Texas. We should have planned for more time!
Parking is $5, so you can enjoy all the outdoor exhibits. To visit the USS Alabama is an additional fee, but there are discounts for the military and AAA members.
Here's my first tip: plan for a 3 to 4 hour trip. We spent a good amount of time on the first of three self tours. The battleship is astounding! I cannot say that enough. Everything looks so small from afar and then you're standing beside the biggest guns you may have ever seen. That changes the conversation.
Keep in mind there are other exhibits on the ground, so wear your walking shoes. That's tip number 2. We parked the car and walked all the way to the dock to get a great view of the battleship.
Here's the last tip: bring your camera and have a good time. And do watch the film. It's about 25 minutes and it's a great history lesson.
Gwendolyn R Houston-Jack — Google review
This was fantastic! The tour is self guided so you can really absorb the details of what you're seeing & not feel rushed. There are great displays throughout the ship that depict life aboard the ship. The entire experience makes you really appreciate the sacrifice these men made. The tour took us about 3 hours, but you can also tour a submarine and a static display of planes inside the hanger. I wouldn't suggest the tour with small children but it would be great if the children are "Scout" age or older.
Valerie Smith — Google review
We loved the 3 different self guided tours with the arrows and the numbers to follow, it was excellent and super easy! Fascinating piece of history with little factoids all along the tour routes. The inside was nice with the a/c but topside was awful with the heat, we really wanted to go all the way to the top but the metal rails were burning our hands. The hanger with all the planes was awesome as was the sub, the USS Drum. There really needs to be a light at the entrance/exit to the park because getting in and out was a nightmare. All in all a great experience though and lots of fun.

This is an amazing memorial museum. There is a ton to do and even more to see. We did self guided tours on the Alabama Battleship, and on the submarine. We enjoyed spending time exploring and comparing the ships. We have been to other Navy boats and this was great. This was the first battleship we explored so it put all the guided missile cruisers and smaller boats into prospective. This thing is huge. Bring your walking shoes. Check out those 16 inch guns and the rounds for it. Worth every minute !
Plan to bring the family !

Extremely fun place to take the whole family. I would plan on 2.5 hours for USS Alabama and another hour for USS Drum. Gift shop has some fun memorabilia so plan on spending a little bit of time there. The inside of the ship can get very warm in sections with less air conditioning. Definitely bring plenty of water and good walking boots! Very educational and informative.
The self guide tour paths are clearly marked out so you will not get lost. Highly recommend doing the outside (yellow) tour early in the morning while the temperature is still low.
There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The cafeteria at the memorial did not have any staff so I was not able to eat there.
Will definitely be back with more family member in the near future!

What an amazing place to spend time, learning about history, and experiencing some of it firsthand. While we arrived late in the afternoon and decided to wait to take a tour of the ship, my son and I were able to spend a couple of hours looking at all kinds of military aircraft and other hardware. Even got a chance to talk to some of the airmen who were restoring some of the old aircraft. An amazing experience, and one that we will definitely return to again and again.

The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is a must-see historical location in Mobile, Alabama. Within the park, you can tour the grounds and the pavilion with aircraft, tanks, artillery, boats, and memorials to explore during your visit. The USS Drum submarine and the USS Alabama Battleship are both WWII vessels you may board and tour. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park is so much more than just the ship. Touring the ship is great and should not be missed, but there is so much more. Aircraft and tanks of every type and separate memorials to Korea and Vietnam veterans as well. On the day we visited there were young people in period uniforms that greatly enhanced the experience. A truly great place to stop.

Words can’t describe how great our visit was. This is a must see for kids and adults. The battleship is massive, wear comfortable clothing and shoes, there’s lots of climbing for those interested in seeing all it has to offer. They’ve done a wonderful job making it interesting and educational all while making it feel as if you’re allowed to explore wherever you want. Obviously that isn’t the case but it’s not all roped off like it could have been. Big takeaways…to see everything takes at minimum 4-5 hours, please see everything, it’s worth it. Bring a lunch, there’s plenty of picnic tables and even some grills. Lots of climbing but moving around the main deck is fairly easy. This place is so impressive and became the highlight of our trip!
The Colonial Fort Condé museum tells the story of Mobile from its French beginnings to the American Civil War. The museum is located in a reconstructed fort dating back to 1723 and includes exhibits on French life in Mobile, as well as the fort's role in the American Civil War.
I would personally not pay for this because this is not the original fort. But the first Sunday of every month it is free to visit so take advantage of that. I love historic forts because of the actual bricks and mortar used. I like to touch historic forts and imagine what the soldiers experienced but the original one was destroyed here. A few bricks at the park next door are still there.
Tucker Lundquist — Google review
The Colonial Fort Condé is a replica of part of the original fort that stood at this site. During the American Revolution the British manned the fort before being defeated by the Spanish, who were American Allies. After Spanish West Florida was ceded to the US, they felt the fort was unnecessary and had it destroyed. During the reconstruction many artifacts were recovered and some original materials were reused.

Colonial Fort Conde is a nice place in Mobile, Alabama. Visit this partially reconstructed 1724 French fort in downtown Mobile. In the immersive, interactive exhibit in the heart of Historic Fort Conde, visitors can learn about the people who colonized early Mobile. See historic artifacts of Native Americans and Europeans who played large roles in the evolution of the Port City in a time shaped by innovation, conquest, plunder, piracy, and war.

Neat colonial experience in downtown Mobile. Buildings were air-conditioned which made the self guided tour much better. Information takes you from the landing of the French up and through the 1800's. Admission is done at the History Museum of Mobile, so be sure to go there first

We didn’t know we had to buy tickets at the History Museum across the street so we went in first. Just across the street walk to get tickets so not far. We then went back. It took us about 30 minutes to walk around and see everything but it was beautiful and good history for us and our kids to see. I would recommend.

I visited twice while I was in Mobile and was pretty impressed. The reconstruction is of the inner walls of the fort, but what is left is cool enough to go back and visit a second time. I loved the model recreations of the fort that are on display and our tour was very informative. I'd definitely go back when I'm in town again!

Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately time has not been kind to the fort, but the remnants have been masterfully preserved by folks who care.
Not to mention you buy admission to the fort and you also get access to the history museum right next door. Check it out 😉

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because there were several attractions that were closed. This fort is rich in culture and history. It's $8 per adult $7.50 with military ID and $5 for children. The grounds are fairly well kept. This is a great place to visit if you want to understand about all of the different cultures that have been present in the Mobile Alabama area over its history. I highly recommend to visit to this fort and when you're finished go right next door to the Charlotte house which was a former prison then purchased by an investor and remodeled into a home. Check out the photos!

We visited June 5th, 2022, the first Sunday of each month is free. Normally, your paid admission to The Mobile History Museum includes a tour of Fort Conde. Very cool exhibition, fyi Fort Conde is a reproduction of the original Fort Conde, and that includes lower entrances and doorways because historically, people of the past were much shorter because they did not have the good nutrition, healthcare, and immunizations we have now. My husband is 6’2, seeing him stand next to the doorways was pretty funny. He really enjoyed the exhibits that included swords, guns, cannons, cannonballs, shackles, etc. A good place to take a guy, they love all the old military exhibits. My only complaint was that the building is a little hot in some places, you will feel bits of air conditioning here and there, maybe it is that way because of the way the building is constructed, and air conditioning was not around in the old days. But still fun, I saw people with their children, you can take kids here, the exhibits are well contained that you don’t have to worry about kids breaking anything. One of the kids was yelling inside the brick short doorway because he liked the echo, but I thought it was funny. This place was very informative, it helps seeing this so I can learn about Mobile now that I live here.

Fort Conde offers a detailed look at Mobile's history with artifacts and interpretive materials spanning hundreds of years. The grounds and buildings are well-maintained. Situated in the heart of downtown, it is a great place to tour, then grab lunch at one of the many nearby restaurants. Ample parking, good for all ages, and stunning views of downtown from the top of the fort's wall.
Dauphin Street is the heart of Mobile with a laid back New Orleans feel. It's the central hub for all things downtown and features restaurants, bars, and shops. It's home to Mobile's Mardi Gras celebrations and is a regular stop for tourists.
Nice beauty city centrum, good pubs, good restaurants and perfect for a walking!😎

The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception is a historic Catholic church located in Mobile, Alabama. The cathedral is one of the oldest houses of worship on the Gulf Coast and features a large pipe organ. Visitors can tour the cathedral or attend religious services.
While touring Mobile Alabama, this is a MUST stop! The historic Cathedral Basilica of the immaculate conception is a beautiful and spiritual place.

I loved attending the service here. The message was very heartfelt and meeting people here was great to see so many people filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the oldest parish and religious center in the whole area. The Cathedral has been preserved extremely well. I would love to come back here on a Sunday.

Used to altar serve with my son years ago. New Archbishop is a joke compared to Lipscomb. At least the building has appeal and beauty.

A very spirit filled parish in the heart of Mobile. I have been to Saturday Mass here several times while traveling in town. Very spacious church with a beautiful interior. Stained glass is very impressive.
PAUL RITZ — Google review
The magnificent church, modeled on Roman basilica architecture, fronts a pocket park downtown, on ground it has occupied since the early 1700s. The interior is massive. Saints and artwork decorate the ceilings and giant rotunda. Stained glass windows on either side of the nave date from the 1890s to the early 1900s. In short, without getting into the politics of religion, it’s a spectacularly ambitious cathedral. Remember to feed the poor box on the way out.

I am Catholic, and while spending an overnight in Mobile, Alabama, on our way to visit our peeps in Florida, I saw this cathedral and had to visit. Absolutely a beautiful church, so rich in history, and simply an awesome holy place.

Beautiful, peaceful and also historical cathedral. I enjoyed seeing the stained glass windows that were custom made in Germany. A small garden around the Cathedral is worth walking around, well maintained and serene.

The wife and I love to see old places of worship where ever we go. This place was very impressive and well cared for. If you appreciate architecture this cathedral is worth taking a look at. The gardens surrounding the cathedral weren’t large but they were very nice and serene.

Fist off I would like to say that the architecture of the building is absolutely amazing. As I walked through the massive hand crafted wooden doors I felt goosebumps on my body. As I continued to explore the building there were so many things that made me feel the history in this immaculate structure. I was moved by not only the architecture but also by the religious history present. I proceeded to light a votive for my mother who is fighting Leukemia. It just so happens that she was getting her routine treatment. When I spoke to her after she got home from her treatment she went on to tell me how long the treatment had taken that day. She said she was exhausted but knew she had to drive herself home that night down dark country roads. She went on to tell me that when she got on the dark roads this bright star appeared and seemed to light the road up for her. She told me that the star shined on the road until she finally made it to the lite highway near her house. This left me speeches since I had not informed her that I lit a candle for her until the next day. I don't know if this was a coincidence or something special happening. Thanks for the opportunity to visit your magnificent building and I look forward to visiting the Church every time I visit Mobile!!

It's a habit when travelling with my love to visit local cathedrals and basilicas. The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The architecture, statuary, and surrounding grounds are incredibly beautiful and the atmosphere inside is positively supernal. Don't miss the stairs down to the smaller chapel / crypt below the main floor, and make sure you visit the statues in the grounds to the left of the main doors. A simply beautiful place and worth a visit.
The Mobile Carnival Museum is a historic home in which one can learn about the history and significance of the Mardi Gras festival. The museum features excellent displays, presentations as well as collections about the tradition and history of Mobile's winter celebration.
I absolutely LOVED everything about this place. The history learned here about the original Madi Gras was beautifully told.

I've always associated Mardi Gras with New Orleans so this was a very eye opening experience. Well worth the price of admission. Our docent Katherine (hope I spelled her name right🤞) was such a doll! Very knowledgeable and pleasant. The costumes on display are SO elaborate and beautiful!! Such a rich history with so much tradition, pomp and circumstance. Highly recommend.

A must see if you're in the area. So much history on the Mardis Gras. Beautiful gowns and costumes from years past. Not expensive to tour either!

The Mardi Gras Museum is one of my favorite things in Mobile. The eight dollar admission includes a ten minute film, a float room where you can take photos on a float that feels like it's moving, picture opportunities to be queen and king and a creepy looking fire truck. Then a lot of mardi gras memorabilia including dresses and dresses. Really cool ongoing tradition.

If you're not aware of the origin and history of Mardi Gras, be sure to attend. It was my 2nd time visiting the museum. My roots or of New Orleans. It's great to wise where it all started. Very interesting, learned about Mardi Gras beginnings in Mobile. Beautiful clothing displays from previous Kings and Queens, very elaborate! Float designs, historic photos, and much more. Worth a visit! Helpful guides throughout the museum.

Fun museum and excellent tour. Besides the amazing displays, all volunteers at work here are amazing. The tour guide (Mrs. Jeanie) had a lovely explanation of everything going on. Afterwards, another colleague (apologies, we didn't catch your name) went out of her way to help us with tips on what to do around the city. We took up many of those, and our time in Mobile was a more rich experience because of it. This museum and all it's lovely people are highly recommended.

It was an interesting museum that taught us a lot of the Mobile Carnival. We had to watch a 10 minute video on it which was very slow but interesting. Then we got to see some floats and outfits but I do believe it was overpriced than what we got.

Employees really make this place as amazing as it is! They are passionate about what they do and are proud of their culture! Museum flowed well and exhibits were beautiful! There's a short video to watch before touring and a number to call to tell you info about each exhibit. The gift store was good too! We got moonpies and enjoyed them on the front porch before we left.

The displays were incredible, the amount of history and historic articles are super.
Guided Tours are available and Cille (I hope I spelled it right), was incredible with her knowledge of not only the museum but the city.
In the area, it's a definite place to Visit.

A very unexpected experience at this place. So much history and the displays are simply insane. As we walked from room to room enjoying the craftmanship that was on display was one of a kind for us. The colors and designs are so unique you can’t believe it’s real. A fantastic way to spend a few hours enjoying the history of Mobile and suck up some A/C. Stop and check it out.
Free-entry museum in the former city hall, featuring exhibits & artifacts tracing local history.
A really nice experience for a free tour. We drove a long way to visit the town. Nice to see the dedication to their history, which was well displayed through the building. Sorry we missed the mayor.

.What an experience. I came to this town by chance but I also don't believe in coincidence. This 2 floor museum is full of history and surprises. I didn't know about Organic Education or Single Tax corporation. The relics of history here are vast and can't say enough about the man at the door with the Mayor sign on desk. Hilarious and true asset to the character of museum. The photos and biographies are in murals and videos here and it quaint yet spacious enough to roam. Very well organized and interesting like the town of Fairhope itself

I've never stopped and explored Fairhooe as I did yesterday. I have always wanted to stop & explore the beautiful little historic town that my grandmother was from, but when I came upon the adorable (FREE) museum I had to stop. It featured the first firetruck, jail, and many other wonderful things including the notable people of Fairhope. If you love history & historic this, this is definitely one to stop & admire.

For a small museum this one has a lot of historical artefacts in it. Frankly we were expecting a less enriching experience. So we were pleasantly surprised.
Well-known fishing pier offering scenic views, lots of pelicans & a seafood restaurant.
A very nice pier. No admission, no parking fees. You do need a saltwater fishing license to fish in the bay. When we went on a weekday in early April around 2pm, there were very few people on the pier, and only a couple other people fishing. We were able to catch a few croaker using frozen shrimp and circle hooks. Plenty of water fowl to watch here along with a distant view of Mobile skyline across the bay. Water was much calmer than the Gulf in places such as Gulf Shores. Overall, a very nice experience and well worth the 40 minute drive for us.

We were displaced for 2 weeks due to Ida. The whole town was welcoming. The pier was a great place for us to fish, kids play on the beach, and throw out a cast net to take our minds off of everything.

Great public pier and large park. Great view of the bay area. It appears some one is remodeling the restaurant with a new vision to be opening sometime in 2023 spring

Off work early. So I plugged into the map someplace I can walk towards water. This municipal Pier came up. And it was close enough to me. Pleasantly surprised
Beautiful well kept pier. Fishing with permits is allowed. Along the pier you will see it water spigots and trays with measurements built right into the deck. Quite a walk out onto the pier with lots of benches to sit and watch the water. No boats were docked when I was there but it appears there are many docking stations. Renovating the restaurant that is there so there might be construction going on when you arrive. New restaurant coming in the spring 2023. Just caught the sunset. Beautiful. Saw few birds standing on Martin houses.
Free to park.

I've been coming here for over 30 years. If I'm anywhere nearby and don't have to rush off somewhere else right away, I will make the trip here. Absolutely beautiful. Well . . . if you're into scenic overlooks, glorious sunsets, nearby coffee shops, bucolic little towns, refreshing walks, fountains, fishing, people watching, dog watching (sometimes very similar), or just soaking up the warmth of the sun on a gorgeous pier. If you're not into those things, you'll enjoy driving around the circle. Please don't hit my truck.

I love walking out on a good pier. My difference on the one is that I did it at 1am. So quiet without all the people 😁. The sound of the water is so soothing and peaceful. Looking out over the bay with all the lights is something that just needs to be soled in. In my enjoyment I forgot to take pictures sorry.

Fairhope is a manicured small town on the Gulf of Mexico. Good food, lots of shopping.
This little gem is right off the road, in front of the Wash House Restaurant. It is a quaint little place, that has 2-3 shops in an old, historic house. The missus bought come confectionary delights, and we enjoyed looking at the antiques.. (thinking we might be getting tot that stage as we recognized too many items, or had used them growing up!) Fun place to stop, browse, and enjoy a little break from the day.

This sweet candy shop is in the backwoods of Alabama and is a treasure. Their homemade candies are fabulous and the staff are great. The shop is attached to an antique shop that is more like a museum.

Best place to bring visitors! The Paceys believes you need to taste their creations before buying. Samples galore!!! I'm very fond of baking Brie with the Blackberry Jelly & chopped pecans in puff pastry/Pillsbury Crescent rolls. Also use the garlic jelly over cream cheese and serve with crackers. Simply delicious.

What a sweet little surprise! My friends and I stumbled upon Punta Clara while on vacation, and we were amazed at the variety of jams and jellies and candies to be found. The young lady working there was more than happy to let us sample anything that we wanted to try, and we walked out with lots of goodies from watermelon jelly to fig preserves! The amazing display of antiques and the history behind the home and the candy kitchen was a bonus. I would highly recommend stopping by if you are ever in the area.
