The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail
History museum
Museums
Early 19th-century jail-turned-museum exhibiting historical artifacts from the town, county & state.
Outstanding tour guide sharing so many stories.

Great museum, lots of interesting stuff. Tour guide is the best, very knowledgeable on the history of the jail and Fauquier county. Whether you're visiting or a resident. I highly recommend checking this place out.
Mike F — Google review
We took our grandkids to the museum and jail as part of an outing. It was very, very popular with all of us. Both the museum and the old jail were fascinating. Our 9 year old was impressed by how tough the maximum security cells were. Great history outing!
Ron Shelby — Google review
This was our second time coming here. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a history lesson on the jail and stories involving the people who inhabited the jail and then sent us off to explore. There was so much to see from information about the women's suffrage movement, native American artifacts, murder weapons from the 1800s, artifacts from the jail, the courtyard and jail cells..and so much more. It was informative, fun, ominous at times, and just a neat part of history and Warrenton.

An AMAZING place to learn about the local history of Fauquier! All the exhibits are full of so much information, but it’s easy to read, making it accessible for any audience. Not to mention, they do other fun events like ghost tours, weddings, and they were even featured on a paranormal show! Whether you’re a local, or just visiting, this is definitely a place to cross off of your Fauquier bucket list!

Very interesting perspective on people's lives that you cannot find elsewhere. Host was supremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Very interesting museum with displays of local relics and history! A great place to visit that is easy on the wallet!
Outdoor concert amphitheater (formerly Nissan Pavilion) seating 10,000 with 15,000 more on the lawn.
This is a great concert venue! I came here with my family. I surprised my boyfriend in the parking lot with tickets to Breaking Benjamin and Alice in Chains for his birthday. He thought we were just going to dinner and was very confused when we pulled in to Jiffy Lube Live. The venue is huge, and we were at the very top of the stands and still jad a great view. There are even more seats behind there on the lawn, and since it's all on a hill, there's nowhere that has a bad view. There are food and beverage vendors when you get through the gates. I got a yummy veggie burger and fries, and my boyfriend had several different beers that he liked. The prices for food and drinks are very steep, so be warned. Maybe eat before you come and just get drinks if anything. There was also tons of parking, and even with there being lots of people, it was quick and easy to get out after. The concert was fantastic and we had a blast!

Incredible concert!!!!
The sound was not great, it had a heavy echo and hard to understand when they tried to talk. Definitely needs to be adjusted.
Buy the premium parking, we were out of the lot after concert within 3 minutes. Buy the refill cup, its worth it.
Seats are tight!!!! Be prepared to have your neighbors sweaty thighs rubbing with yours. Its hot and the bathrooms are like a sauna.
Health concern, vomit on ground in several spots. Beware and they don't wash or clean it. So don't sit or touch grounds without looking first.

Watched Santana live yesterday, out here 😍
The show was just awesome and Santana knows how to get the crowd going! I couldn’t see an empty seat anywhere! About the venue itself, it is built for such massive scale shows and lights and acoustics were good. All the required facilities were available and accessible. The security was tight - as it should be. Traffic was a bit of a problem - so please leave early to the venue. Closer to the show - traffic is barely moving.
People were having fun all over the place and it was good to be here! Upcoming shows here are good - so get yourself going for it!

I went to see Volbeat back in 2019 and Ozzfest in 2000 here. Pretty nice place to see a concert. There was a walk from the parking lot to the event center, but not bad at all. The line to go in moved extremely fast and no wait. Beer is obviously gonna be overpriced but I still got a few. Overall great experience both times I’ve gone here. Will be seeing more shows in the future here. Sorry pictures were from my old horrible phone.
Brian Piersa — Google review
Just like airports and theme parks, they price gouge you for everything. But the bathrooms are clean. For an outdoor concert venue, it was very nice. I've never seen so many ads play on the big screens before, which was kind of annoying, I'm not sure if that was a venue choice or if the bands were sponsored by these ads, probably the venue...
Xenophod — Google review
It's a great venue to see a show! They get great performances in there and it's not too far from home. The venue is set up beautifully. The lawn seats are great and give off a really festive party atmosphere. Great access to food and drink. Bathrooms are always relatively clean.
My complaints are this. The prices for EVERYTHING are too high. $17 for a craft beer and $22 for a mixed cocktail is completely insane. They also do need to work on their parking situation because leaving the concert afterwards is like complete chaos.
Jennie Jen — Google review
One of my favorite music venues! So much better than Merriweather! Parking is easy. Tailgating is allowed and they provide bathrooms. Everything is easy to find. Beverage choices aren't great and very pricey, though. Never have long lines at the bathrooms.

Attending the Matchbox 20 concert at Jiffy Lube Live was akin to biting into a gourmet burger, only to realize the bun's a tad stale – fantastic but not without its flaws. Matchbox 20’s performance was every bit of amazing, reminding us of the band's timeless talent. The vocals, instrumental synchronization, and the overall ambiance was truly top-notch. The stage was ablaze with energy, and each song invoked a swirl of nostalgia that had the crowd singing at the top of their lungs.
However, the proverbial stale bun of the evening? The parking. Man, it was as if someone designed it as a test of patience for concertgoers. Jiffy Lube Live, your shows are outstanding, but navigating the parking labyrinth was a misadventure that tested the Zen of even the calmest souls. In short, if you're seeking an auditory treat with a side of parking chaos, this venue's got you covered. Rock on, Matchbox 20, but maybe next time, I'll catch you closer to home. 😉

This is definitely a great venue! Over the years, it has grown, and the lawn is pretty big but also pretty far away. Parking is also a hike and takes a long time to get out after the show, depending on where you park. Other than that, I have to say the crew does an amazing job keeping things moving and making sure there is plenty to drink and eat. Place is clean, and sound is phenomenal no matter where you are sitting. The 3 large screens also allow people in the WAY back to see. They also have tickets available for people who want to arrive early and tailgate. Overall, great experience in a great location. Definitely recommend for a show.

Went to see Thomas Rhett and unfortunately I was in a boot and on crutches. I was walking to my seat and Donna asked me if I didn't have enough space they would move me to the handicapped section. I didn't have enough space and Donna was super helpful in getting me accommodated in the handicap section. I was able to elevate my foot, remain sitting and still be able to see the concert. I'm so thankful she asked me, otherwise I don't know if I would have enjoyed the concert as much. Thank you, Donna for going above and beyond to make my experience enjoyable! ❤ 🙏🏼

This venue is always great. They keep all the areas clean, there are enough bathrooms for everyone, and they offer beverages and food. The also have carts to take you closer to the seating waiting at the gates in case you are injured or disabled. Make sure if you bring a bag in that it is clear or very small. They will make you leave backpacks in the car. I always have a great time when I come here. The bands are always on fire and the venue is great.
We saw Plush, Bush, Breaking Benjamin, and Alice in Chains last night. It was spectacular! All the bands were Amazing! Will definitely be coming back here to see more bands.

Parking was HORRIBLE to say the least. Entered the lot, attendant had me go straight toward the back/right because I have a handicap placard. When I get back there, next attendant says I can't park back there because I didn't have a white card stating it belonged to me. Advised me to go back up to the other side for handicap parking. I drive all the way around there for the next attendant to say go left and make a u turn(mind you it was cars coming in from that direction as well). When I make said u turn and sit in a traffic line for 10 minutes, another attend then comes and says the handicap lot is full🙄. I ask him where can I park and he says go left and all the way to the back. When I proceed to do just that, I see at least 40 spots....40. I ask another attend can I park over there...bless her heart, it was her first day so she really didn't know. Not gonna lie, she went to find someone over her and after waiting 5 minutes, I just found a spot and parked🤷🏾♀️. Lawn seats were great except for the excessive weed smoking🙄. Getting out of the lot took about 1 hour so there's that.
My suggestions would be to pay for upgraded parking and STILL get there early

Great venue if you’re looking for a mid-sized concert, which is about my speed these days. I highly recommend getting access to the VIP lounge area. They’ve got good food and table service for drinks before and during the concerts.

This place was amazing for the Odesza concert. The venue was packed and the seating was great! I read reviews prior to going and we had decided to purchase Early parking. There was hardly any traffic when we got there and when we left the traffic was not bad. We were back on the highway heading home within 15 minutes after the concert ended. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for parking if you can, it's absolutely worth it!
Shannah Garza — Google review
I saw Fall out boy here and it was my first time. There were screens for lawn attendees and there is plenty of parking. They need to do better on directing people into the venue for parking – traffic was at a standstill for a while. Getting out went more smoothly, though - it only took 10 minutes and everyone zipper merged flawlessly. I did leave early and walk as quickly as I could back to my car.

- nice venue, sound quality is great, seats, lawn, and pit area. Has food and drinks.
- tickets vary depending on what you're seeing and all.
- food and drinks prices are pretty high, like $5 for a liquid death and $30 for a mix drink.
- plenty of parking.
- staff are very friendly.
- good lighting and stage pyrotechnics when used.
- overall a good experience each time I see a show here. I'd recommend this location.

We came for a Nickleback/ Brantley Gilbert concert in the latter part of August 2023 on a Saturday afternoon/night.
Being there were apparently 20K people there, traffic was understandly backed up, and it took us an hour and a half to get to the venue, and that was driving the 6miles to get there.
They had ample parking for everyone-we were parked way out in F-lot. One thing that could be better is the event staff parking directions/having people out there when everyone leaves. People were frustrated and cutting one another off or being aggressive in trying to merge 3 and 4 times before we even got out of the parking lot. If someone was managing the merging, traffic would have moved more efficiently. It took us 1hour to get out of the parking lot.
The venue is cashless and lines to get through enter and security were quick. It took maybe a minute to get through both-this was at 630 (show start time).
Drinks are okay priced, and they only have cans. I was surprised at the ease of getting in and out of the ladies rest room as it was quite large with 2 entrances.
The seats are small for an average sized person and there's no cup holder so I saw a lot of spilled beverages, but there is room to get through the aisles.
During the show, the people next to us had a tiff with another person. Event staff were quick to respond and calm everyone down. The older gentleman who I think was a supervisor put up with a lot from some of the concertgoers and deserves a shout-out.
C. M. — Google review
The positives: I was satisfied with my seats in the Orchestra section. Workers were helpful, kept the aisles clear and were on top of things. VIP parking was excellent. Bathrooms were also large and not too bad.
The negatives: The food worker spoke zero English. I felt bad for him and don't blame him, but it made it difficult for both me and him and I know the venue was probably paying him minimum wage while charging $9 for a water.
VIP parking was expensive but I knew that was the only way I'd get in and out without dealing with an absolute mess.

Great Jelly Roll Concert. Clean bathrooms with fast moving line. Great mixed drinks at bar, but $15 beer was my only gripe in an otherwise great time at a great venue. Also, traffic is the same as it has always been getting in and out for years, but that was to be expected with Jelly Roll Backwoods Baptism Tour 2023 selling almost 23K seats in a sellout. I have never seen the lawn packed with as many people as I did this show. Great local venue with a solid booking lineup for summer 2023.
Manassas National Battlefield Park, also known as Bull Run, is a historical site where significant battles between the Confederates and Union occurred during the Civil War. It was won by the Confederacy in 1861 and 1862. The park features fields marking these victories and a statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson. There are ranger tours available at the Robinson farm which provide intriguing information about the area's history.
I went there February 19 2022. The wind was blowing about 25 mph and temperatures of 40 degrees. The ranger tour of the Robinson farm was intriguing. The statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson was very impressive. This place has the best information video I have ever seen at a national park. They have a good junior ranger program but no longer have a Bark Ranger for dogs. I wish it had been a little warmer

This was such a great way to learn about history. We did the tour guide with the Park Ranger and it was great. She lead us through what happened. The tour was about 45 minutes long. It is a great place to bring children. Since it is outdoors our boys could explore. The museum was very well done. There is also an interactive map that gives a layout of the battle.
Janie Bowerbank — Google review
Loved it! I am NOT a Civil War buff but I did enjoy the visit. They have a great film that is shown hourly. We also downloaded the audio and video clips from the park’s app. That helped to explain what we were seeing as we toured the battlefield.
Jeffrey Hyde — Google review
I had an enjoyable experience exploring the battlefield on a Monday in early March. I took the walking tour with the ranger, I don’t remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. There was plenty of parking. Restrooms in the visitors center. I watched the movie after the walking tour. I drove to the stone bridge and the unfinished railroad sites because I was running out of time. You could definitely spend an entire day here.

This was a visit that brought a lot of history to life. To have been at the Battlefield Park at the end of September 2023, with the heavy clouds, was really a rich experience. I also purchased a two books from the book store, one of which is slave narratives.
Jennyfer Ambe — Google review
I've come here multiple times to hike- it never fails to amuse me. Full of rich history everywhere. There are 2 places to park: one that is placed in the middle and there is the main parking. I like that the huge chunk of the area is preserved. You'll always find something new. There are various trails to choose from.
Litzy Aguilar — Google review
Fascinating testament to the stupidity of war. Many young men died on this field because some adults wanted to own people.
Having said that, the artifacts on display give one a better understanding of the battles.
Ricardo Munoz — Google review
Beautiful and underrated. Great museum in the visitors center with a fantastic presentation on the battle complete with lights. Miles of open land and places to walk.

Manassas Battlefield Park is beautiful maintained. The Visitor Center is excellent. Highly recommend the movie prior to touring the Battlefield. Very clean restrooms. The gift shop has an excellent variety of books. Recommend doing the driving tour if this is your first visit. Recommend a visit to Mathew Hill to see the two naval 12 pound howitzers that was used during the battle.
Sharon Mcfarland — Google review
Really beautiful place, especially considering the history here. It's amazing that something so brutal and bloody could happen at such a beautiful place.
I'm a fan of history, from all periods and places. This place has a very informative museum; as well as buildings from the period, period cannons, a cemetery, and several monuments dedicated to the battle.
This place is kept up really well, and because it's spread out over so many acres you don't have to worry about it being too crowded. I hope it's around for many years to come so that it can teach people about its' history.
Beverly Patrick — Google review
The battlefield was beautiful! The park rangers and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. My only con was that the driving tour was not as easy for me to follow as it is in Gettysburg. But I would definitely recommend and return.
Carissa — Google review
It was ok. Probably the most interesting part was the museum at the visitor center. There is one semi-trail walk, all in the sun, that goes around a field. One confederate statue, some cool cannons and a wooden house. Around 40 parking spots.
Vlad Gorshkov — Google review
We took the grand kids to explore the battlefield. The guided tour was terrific. The ranger was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the battle, especially the context (our tour covered the 1st Battle of Bull Run). The visitor center has a great museum and the movie about the battles was extremely well done. I would caution that the scenes are very graphic and parents may want to discuss the movie before/after if your kids are 14 and younger.
Dan Noble — Google review
We walked the 5.2 mile First Battle of Manassas Trail Loop. On the AllTrails app, it suggests the average walk time is 2 hours. Allot more time to stop and read the informative signs at the waypoints. It makes the trip more robust when you can understand what things are and the battles that were fought in the very place you are standing. The trail is well maintained, there are shortcuts along the way if you choose not to do the full loop, the bridge crossing Bull Run is out so we crossed through the water on rocks, and about half is in the woods (shaded) while the rest is out in the open. Be aware: the small parking lot was almost full when we arrived.

Interesting, historically accurate and moving. Gazing upon the area you can feel the spirit, the camaraderie and the dedication of the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting for freedom.

This is a nice simple park to spend time at. There's a lot of history associated with it and they play a movie in the visitor center. The staff is friendly and there's a big parking lot. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're in the area, it's certainly worth a visit. Would recommend!

Took the kids and got there early, did the educational film (45 min) in the visitor center, stamped passports etc and did the first Manassas loop. Took us about 2 hours (with kids) to do 4.5 miles so not bad. So much to see along the way, and the stone house was open so we got a nice little break to look around, talk to the rangers, and get their ranger pins.
The NRA National Firearms Museum boasts 15 galleries that showcase the history of firearms and their role in American culture. Even non-gun enthusiasts will appreciate the displays and exhibits, which offer an educational experience for all ages. Admission is free, making it an ideal stop for those with limited time or budget constraints. Donations are accepted, and there are kiosks available for easy lifetime NRA membership signups.
This place is great! Definitely worth visiting even if you're not a gun nut, there is an insane amount of history in that museum. You can catch a free guided tour or they have touch screen kiosks throughout that detail the collections in each case. I lived this place, like a kid in a candy store!

Epic collection of firearms with a rich history. The staff at the museum were very professional and answered all my questions thoroughly. The firearm collection is very extensive and goes beyond my highest expectations.
We were immediately greeted at the front desk by Zack. He was very informative about the museum. 98% of the museum is made up of donations. About 8,000 firearms donated are in storage. Bill, one of the staff, was very helpful and talked about James Joseph "Whitey" Bulger Jr..
I was impressed at the arrangement of the firearms and how they were organized in a meaningful way. It would take many hours to go through and read all the exhibits. We spent about two hours there. I was very impressed with the exhibit of weapons used in Hollywood movies. I adored the exhibit with taxidermy animals especially the bear. The Buffalo Bill and George Washington exhibit were very eye catching as well. The most spectacular moment in the museum was hearing about and see an exhibit piece owned by one of America’s most notorious criminals, Charles Manson. The museum curator, Ernie, gave me vivid details of how the gun was confiscated by the police.
Admission to the museum is free and one of Fairfax’s finest and unique local attractions. Strongly recommend this museum.

The NRA Museum offers a unique perspective on antique to modern firearms. Everything from engraved scroll work, gold and silver plating, ivory inlay. To rustic workhorses such as gatling guns, flintlocks, cap & ball revolvers. If you appreciate fine metallurgy, hand worked stocks, and the ingenuity to create works of art. This is a must see if you are cruising through the area. Free parking and free entrance too.

Never have I ever seen such a complete, detailed, extensive, and informative display on any subject in any museum. No matter your political views this should be on your list just for the sheer volume and quality of the information. The curator was knowledgeable on the various collections and displays, their history and value. Not everyone in our party was a firearms enthusiast but everyone left with an appreciation of their efforts.
Arlington National Cemetery is a national cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, United States. It contains the graves of U.S. presidents, generals, and other notable military personnel, as well as the graves of civilian casualties of American wars and peacekeeping missions. The cemetery is also known for its Memorial Amphitheater and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
What can I say that has not been said. As a veteran I had tears in my eyes watching the changing of the guard. This place represents so much more than a place to bury the dead. Each military member can sacrifice their life in their course of duty and it affects alll those close to that person. To lay down your life is the ultimate sacrifice. I give thanks to those that died for our freedom and their family. The grounds are immaculate. The memorials are moving. General Lees home was interesting. It was nice to take the tram that you can hop off as long as you please and just catch the next one. This place must be explored so allow plenty of time to visit. And the next time you meet a service person thank them for their service. Arlington is a must see when visiting Washington D.C.

Arlington National Cemetery is the sacred resting place for those 400,000 veterans who gave ultimate sacrifice for the country. Veterans of all major wars fought by United States are buried here, including two US Presidents.
There is lots of walking involved in the cemetery sprawled in 620 acres. Please wear good walking shoes. Alternatively, you can take a tram tour with historical interpretation.
This was the home of the George Washington’s family before. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is very moving marble memorial and one of the highlights of the cemetery. The Changing of the Guards take place every half an hour here which is a sobering experience.
There is a grave site of President John F Kennedy here. The Memorial of Arboretum is very beautiful with green gardens. There is so much to see here so it is advisable to plan your trip in advance and decide what do you want to see.
Every US citizen must visit here and honor our heroes.

As a vet, walking through Arlington feels like walking through hallowed ground. The cemetery is kept in immaculate condition and the staff were very professional. Make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes for the considerable walking you'll do, and respect this place and those who rest here.

Arlington National Cemetery is a beautiful place to honor fallen soldiers. You can do the whole thing for free, but the walk up the hill would be quite the adventure in the summer heat. The tour bus makes the trip to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier easier, and provided more information about the grounds.
The changing of the guards at the tomb is a powerful experience...one that everyone who visits should see.

Independent of what you think of the US army and history, you should visit this place.
It is an place of inspiration and dignity.
The area is covered by almost religious silence and when there, skip the tour and walk on your feet to enjoy the silence soo many brave soldiers that died for defending somebody else freedom.

This is truly hallowed ground...didn't appreciate it until I had a relative buried here...it's well maintained and has fantastic history associated with it. Make sure you visit the two president that are buried here (yes there are two!), visit Lee House and an absolute must is the Tomb of the Unknowns (try and catch it at the changing of the guard). Please show respect and reverence...those who rest here have earned it.

What an honorable place to visit. This was our first time at the cemetery and I must say we were all impressed. Very well kept, beautiful grounds filled with such rich history. We were hesitant as we were travelling with smaller children and were not exposed to death, funerals, cemeteries etc, as of yet but it turned into a wonderful history lesson. We were impressed how respectful they were. Wanted to read the names of the soldiers, wars fought in etc. Definitely can spend more than half the day walking through everything but well worth your time. A must of the changing of the guard which is indeed every half hour. The unknown buried soldier, so much to see. Make sure you pick up a map of the grounds. Bring a reusable water bottle if you are visiting in the summer. Many water filling stations. Comfortable shoes, and a phone or camera to take photos. It it a huge place, you can take a tour with a guide which will only get you to "the major must things to see" but you can do a self guided tour if you have read up on some or have knowledge of American history, otherwise there is a tram (trolley) that takes you through the cemetery but again to the "main spots". No amount of pictures can do this wonderful place justice. Highly recommended.

Great experience, I believe every American should come to learn about the rich history of service members and the importance of many of the monuments and historical sites here. It is free of charge except for parking, or if you embark on a guided tour.

A wonderful place to visit. My last visit was more than 30 years ago. I visited with my youngest son and wife who had never been here before. I had not seen the memorial to those who died aboard the USS Maine. My great grandfather worked on raising the Maine after it was sunk. That, along with the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier were highlights for us.

Beautiful and sacred grounds. I recommend the tram tour, that’s the best way to see and hear all that you need to know. I was most looking forward to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard. Absolutely did not disappoint. I’d recommend arriving early as it will get crowded. Also please remember that it is an active cemetery. There were 26 funerals the day of our visit.

I do recommend getting the paid bus tour. It's a lot of walking otherwise and if you're a tourist you're likely going to be at your walking max. Visiting the day before memorial day provides the opportunity to participate in laying flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier and throughout the cemetery which was a beautiful thing.

Visiting Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day was an experience that left me deeply moved and forever grateful for the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women. The hallowed grounds and the solemn atmosphere were a fitting tribute to those who have given their lives in service to our country.
First and foremost, the logistics of getting to the cemetery were well-managed. The proximity to Washington D.C., made it easily accessible, and public transportation options were plentiful. The signage and directions within the cemetery were clear, ensuring that visitors could navigate their way around without any difficulties.
Upon entering the grounds, I was struck by the sheer magnitude and immaculate maintenance of the cemetery. The rows upon rows of perfectly aligned white tombstones stood as a poignant reminder of the countless lives lost. The peacefulness and serenity enveloped the area, allowing for reflection and contemplation.
In conclusion, visiting Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day was an incredibly meaningful and humbling experience. It served as a stark reminder of the price of freedom and a testament to the bravery of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I left with a renewed appreciation for our country's heroes and a deep sense of gratitude. I highly recommend visiting this sacred site to pay your respects and honor those who have given their lives for our nation.

Arlington National Cemetery is a powerful place.
I am proud of my father who rests here now after living an incredible life.
Mom's ashes were placed in the ground with my father's ashes a couple of days ago with those who loved her attending.
The staff of ANC are loving, respectful and peaceful humans.
If you go on a tour in of Arlington National Cemetery, perhaps you will feel the incredible power of this place.
This experience is one of those which creates a positive feeling of being an American.
Five stars. Go for a walk there in silence.

What a great experience! We hopped on the open air tour train to explore this vast, beautiful, and somber place. Really enjoyed perpetual flame tomb of JFK and the tomb of the unknown soldier where we witnessed the changing of the guard. Learned so much on the day! Highly recommend.

Once in a lifetime, must see. The Eternal Flame, Changing of the guard... i could go on, phenomenal. FYI, the tram, was a money grab, it dropped us at first stop never to return! For all you reading this, ride the tram once around the grounds before exiting! Then walk the grounds to take photos and see this unimaginable place!

This sacred place houses the remains of so many that have died for our country. We visited the grave of my wife’s great grandfather. We also watched the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the proud procession and wreath laying.
I pray that we will live in such a manner that their sacrifice was worth it.

All gave some, some gave all. At least once in a lifetime visit. This is United States military cemetery for the honored service members that have valiantly service our country.
It was my honor to visit and it’s awe inspiring. All the men and women that fought for our freedoms.
The operation is very organized and staffed with great people. The changing of the guard is a memorable experience. Great place to take your family.

The sheer scale of this place is staggering, you’ll need a full day if you’re planning on seeing it all and I would recommend a tour if you’re wanting to cover the whole area. The people who work here are incredibly knowledgeable and only to happy to answer any questions you may have. The Tomb of the Unknown Solider and the Eternal Flame are within walking distance of one another and worth seeing. The discipline of the Honour Guards is similar to the Kings Guard in London, well drilled and definitely an experience to watch them changed over. Arlington Cemetery is an extraordinary sight and the effort and passion that clearly goes in to maintain it is commendable.

A must visit while visiting D.C. to pay respect to the too many fallen and our great leaders. Also pay your respects to the many slaves that worked this property while owned by Robert E Lee. I hope the same karma finds another certain traitor/cult leader.

Arlington National Cemetery stands as a hallowed ground, a poignant tribute to the men and women who have served and sacrificed for their country. The rows of white gravestones stretching across the rolling hills create a solemn and reverent atmosphere, reminding visitors of the countless lives lost in service to the nation. Walking among the graves, one can't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude and humility, as each marker represents a story of bravery, honor, and selflessness. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, with its eternal flame and constant vigil, serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance for those who gave their lives without recognition or identity. The Changing of the Guard ceremony at the tomb is a deeply moving tribute to the fallen, showcasing the dedication and reverence of those who serve in honor of their comrades. Arlington National Cemetery is not just a cemetery; it's a living memorial that honors the legacy of America's heroes and ensures that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

What an amazing place to visit, it’s really beautiful and somber. This place gives you the space to think about the sacrifices so many men and women have made for this country. I would highly recommend a visit here. Watching the changing of the guard really touched me. You could spend all day here, but I spent about 2 hours and that felt like enough.
It’s not difficult to get to there’s a subway stop right outside the entrance, there are tour buses if you don’t want to walk, and the facilities are extremely cleanand well kept.

Emotional place, lots of families there. We were able to see the Changing of The Guard. It’s as big as you can see on the map.. literally, is huge and it will take you around 2hrs. Long walks, with hills and more hills.
It’s not a place that I’m thinking to come back, but for sure I d take the tram with a price of ($20 ea, if I don’t remember wrong)
The final resting place of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963, is marked by an Eternal Flame at Arlington National Cemetery. The site was initially located elsewhere in the cemetery before a new burial ground was built for him in 1967 to accommodate visitors paying respect. The idea for the flame came from Jacqueline Kennedy, his wife and First Lady. Millions of people visit this monument every year to honor and remember one of the most beloved presidents in American history.
A must if you are in the area. Pretty big place so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The trolley is a good option if your group has people that tire easily or they are unable to walk for a long period of time, or if it is really hot outside. Other than that the walk is not super bad especially on a windy day.

Completely sobering experience. Cut out at least 3.5 hours to do the self- tour of Arlington. It is absolutely worth it. There are a lot of uphill paths. Call ahead to schedule a ride on tour if you are unable to walk. Children WILL get tired... haha! My favorite part of DC!

It is a spiritual experience to visit this sacred place. Spend a little time and learn about Kennedy before you come to get the most out of it. Best of speech excerpts are engraved in the granite nearby. Sad and sweet to see Jacqueline Kennedy they're too now. Along with some children. Kennedy was a great president, a good leader, and sometimes the Good die Young. "Has anybody here seen my good friend John? I looked around and he was gone..." I shed a tear when I listen to this 1960s ballad by Dion. Give it a listen and let it pull on your heartstrings along with the reverent beauty of this amazing place that helps fuel a sincere and healthy patriotism. Getting in was free but parking cost us about 10 bucks. Well worth it. Go for a leisurely stroll or take their trams up the hills. Make sure you are at the tomb of the unknown soldier at the top of the hour to see The changing of the guard, or the laying of a reef by an old veteran or two.

Arlington Cemetery was an amazing and somber experience! A reminder that freedom isn’t free! Seeing the eternal flame and Kennedy’s gravesite was a reminder of the danger and sacrifice involved in being president. Though we bicker politics, the fact is we have brave individuals who are willing to sacrifice to keep America free so that we can even have different points of view. At the site, there is a wall of presidential quotes. A line forms to see these. There are many veterans here, some wear identifying articles like hats and pins. My advice is be respectful, let them go first. Many are very emotional.

I want to know who was the first person to toss a coin onto Kennedy's grave. It won't make your wish come true, and Kennedy wouldn't care about your 10 cents (Jacqueline wouldn't care either). Is this your way of expressing respect?
The US Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington Ridge Park is a popular historical attraction that honors fallen Marines from all wars, as well as their comrades from other services. The monument was designed by Horace W. Peaslee and sculpted by Felix de Weldon, inspired by the iconic photograph of six Marines raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi during World War II taken by Joe Rosenthal.
What a tribute to the all American hero. Take a walk from Arlington National Cemetery and the grave markers set the tone for this amazing statue. The heroic touch by these young soldiers so many years ago is a lasting reminder of what the flag stands for. I also love that this memorial can be seen for miles around. It’s a little off the beaten path and after so many years of visiting DC this is my first time, and definitely a favorite.

Finally got the chance to see what i have only seen in books and movies. Words cant express how awe-inspiring this monument is. Shows the American strength and unity. We as citizens need to show our armed forces more respect than we do. Because if it wasn't for them we would not be a free nation.

Quite an impressive statute. I was surprised on how large it was. Getting to it was a little confusing at first. I wasn't sure exactly what turn to take, but once we circled, I saw my mistake. There is quite a bit of free parking all around. Took the kids on Memorial Day to view it. There were a lot of historical markers that you could read about our Armed Forces or even push a button, and there was a recording you could listen to. There was a large grassy field where you could admire the satute. The story is amazing to learn about. It's not a all day thing but you could spend a few quality hours here and it's well worth it.

The US Marine Corps War Memorial, also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial, is an iconic and awe-inspiring tribute to the valor and sacrifice of the United States Marine Corps. As a visitor to this hallowed monument, I was deeply moved by the significance it holds and the emotion it evokes.
Located just outside Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, the memorial stands tall and proud, paying homage to the Marines who fought in one of the most grueling battles of World War II. The statue, depicting the historic raising of the American flag on Mount Suribachi during the battle of Iwo Jima, captures the essence of bravery, camaraderie, and determination.
The attention to detail in the sculpture is remarkable, as every crease of the Marines' uniforms and every facial expression reflect the intensity of the moment. The memorial's sheer size is impressive, leaving visitors in awe of the heroic feat it represents. It served as a constant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served and continue to serve in the Marine Corps.
Whether you have a personal connection to the military or simply appreciate the profound impact of their sacrifices, a visit to the US Marine Corps War Memorial is an absolute must. It is a place that leaves an inedible impression on your heart and soul, reminding us all of the price paid for our freedom.

Most people will recognize this iconic statue from pictures they may have seen online or somewhere in the media. However, this is mainly a tribute to all marines that have served and given their lives to the US since 1775. The actual stance is from the victory of Iwo Jima, where the marines were able to raise a flag on Mount Suribachi. I was surprised at how enormous the statue was when I was looking from the bottom. Nevertheless, it’s a must see for everyone coming to visit DC. It’s farther from the more famous memorials. If you’re driving, they do have some parking spots in front.

I went to Sunday Morning service with my parents now that they have opened up again. There were plenty of available seats and the ushers have all of us programs. The programs were in English and Spanish and offered explanations of what was going on and why things were in a certain order in addition to the prayers, hymns, readings, and instructions of when to sit or stand. The cathedral is beautiful and I would suggest going in the morning to get the full impact of the stained glass windows. I didn’t even Renner that there had been an earthquake in 2011 but there were many signs showing what was damaged and how repairs are going.

I always love visiting the cathedral. Alas, they now charge for entry which they didn't before the pandemic. I went on a Thursday afternoon and the bookstore/gift shop was closed - it is one of the best small bookstores for spiritual publications and I was sorry it wasn't open. The grounds, though, are as beautiful as ever and there is now a cafe where the garden shop used to be.

Washington National Cathedral is an awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece that showcases exquisite craftsmanship and rich history. The grandeur and beauty of this iconic landmark are truly remarkable. The Gothic architecture, intricate stained glass windows, and stunning stone carvings make for a visually captivating experience.
The cathedral's role as a place of worship, prayer, and reflection adds to its significance. The regular services and special events held here offer visitors a chance to engage in spiritual contemplation.
The guided tours provide insightful information about the cathedral's history, religious significance, and its role in American culture. The knowledgeable guides offer valuable context and answer questions with enthusiasm.
However, my visit was slightly marred by the high number of visitors, which made it challenging to fully immerse in the tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, some areas were undergoing restoration, limiting access to certain parts of the cathedral.
Overall, the Washington National Cathedral is undeniably worth visiting for its architectural beauty and historical importance. With a more controlled visitor flow and completed restorations, it would have been an even more exceptional experience. A solid 4-star rating for this iconic cultural and spiritual landmark.

We had the pleasure of visiting this stunning cathedral recently. The cathedral boasted incredible stained glass windows that were truly breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous. Serene, calm, and simple - as far as cathedrals go. I was extremely and pleasantly surprised to see how empty it was - even during the Holidays. Plenty of parking, and absolutely wonderful staff helped show me some of the more intricate details around the main cathedral space. The individual stained glass windows are stunning!
Make sure you get the additional tour and book to see all of it.

There's a lot to do at the park; canoeing, hanging out at a picnic site, going on nature walks. They also have cabins to rent.
Today I went on the White Trail and it was full of spring beauties, maple roots, fresh strawberries, and violets. It's an easy hour or so long loop, with low to no elevation change for like 98% of it. Some parts are along the Potomac River. The views are lovely as are the flowers.

I went here to attend a high school graduation party for a family member and this amazing park blew me away. It was beautiful and well kept. The views of the Potomac were beautiful. There were lots of families there grilling, hanging out and having a good time. It was a very peaceful park with lots of shaded walking space. I like getting a good walk in when I have a chance. Had a splash park which some attendees enjoyed (at and extra fee) and a clean lavatory building. I'd like to return one day to fully explore the park.

We love this place! It's great for a walk or a picnic. The playground is very fun - with several slides that were good for my 2 year old and several that were for the bigger kids. They also had swings, climbing structures, and a sandbox. Lots of parking and seasonal bathrooms during the warmer months.

Nice place to sit by the Potomac. On weekends, bring your own chair. There are on lead dogs around, plenty of space for kids to run around, folks having picnics and a boat ramp for the boaters.

This is a beautiful less crowded place to spend beautiful time in solitude or can come here with friends to enjoy picnic time. It has water park little inside and can be stayed on the river side as beautiful huts are available with all kind of facilities.

Very good park for picnic. Not much of long walk trails.
The Views of Potomac from here are amazing and so beautiful. Unlinke the rapids of Greatfalls, the river runs lazily here that it feels almost sleepy and beautiful. The picnic area is large with a lot of picnic tables placed at good distance from each other to provide the picnic goers their own space. The space was enogh for us to play vollyball, badminton, cricket, although there were large groups not too far from us, but still it didnt feel crowded even a bit.
There are plenty of large trees providing ample shade to picnic areas.
The trail we took was not too wide and had bushes around but there were many scenic spots.
The deers were walking around leasurely and not scared or bothered by hundreds of humans present there.
Overall a beautiful place for a fun picnic.
I would have given 5 stars if the trails were a bit more elaborate.

Huge park with lots of different activities for all age groups.
We went here in an open park birthday party.
Kids & babies enjoyed the park slides, swings etc, bunch of stuff for them.
Lots of tree & shades with benches spaciously put in to give your own space.
Shelter areas can be reserved in advance for private parties.
Bring you boats & kayaks to have fun in river. The river water & banks are clean.

20230729 Haven't been here in over 5 years. The plants on the trail by the river have grown quite large. The trail is a lot more narrow than before. Unfortunately, it started thundering, and we got out before the rain arrived.
This is a great park with a lot of activities for all ages from golf, water park, hiking, biking, boating, soccer, ... to dog walking. I love that it is along the river, and the view is beautiful regardless of the season. The only complain I have is that the trail can be muddy after rain or snow. I wish it is covered with mulch or something so that my feet aren't sinking in mudd. My In the Summer, in warmer seasons, there are lots of strings of cobwebs on the trail. Some part of the parking area is covered with small grovels. Overall, it is a great park.
Lancaster County Dutch Market is a bustling marketplace offering a wide variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, and home furnishings. The market also features fresh-made donuts and pizza. While Saturdays can get busy, the lines move smoothly. Visitors love the mouth-watering hot pretzels and appreciate having access to the Amish community through the market's offerings.
Hands down the best fried chicken around the area. Their BBQ wings and potato wedges are also phenomenal. Make sure to get amish macaroni salad and deviled eggs too. Lines can be really long during the weekend lunch time, but it tends to move pretty quick. Super friendly staffs.

The market is amazing! There's a very different type of variety to find inside. Baked goods, meats, flowers, furniture and even a little Cafe. I personally was disappointed in the Cafe. They call it Dutch in the name, but it's just regular Cafe type food. It was, hower, good food. We never got refills on our drinks, and the waitress didn't return to our table. They decided to give all waitresses their breaks except 1. So she had to run the counter, the window, and tables. 🙄 Also,it's worth noting that if you're not a local person, this restaurant is literally inside the market, but GPS doesn't tell you that. So we drove around the entire shopping plaza looking until I called them directly. 😐

I am utterly disappointed with the constant price hike on the once-affordable, good quality food at Lancaster County Dutch Market. It is disheartening to witness a blatant disregard for the loyal customers who have supported this establishment for years. Unfortunately, the inflated prices have completely soured my experience, and I feel compelled to share my negative review.
First and foremost, what drew me to Dutch Market initially was their commitment to providing high-quality food at reasonable prices. Their fresh produce, dairy products, and meats were once an absolute delight. I believed I had found a reliable source for nutritious, affordable groceries. However, the past 5 years continues price increase has shattered this illusion, leaving me disillusioned and frustrated.
For example, cooked chicken wings price went from $5.99 per pound in 2018 to $12.99 in 2023.

I love this place and folks who work it! It’s always an adventure because I never know what I want before I arrive yet always bring home something good in food or home decor. There’s a nice variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, fresh made donuts, pizza, and a section for home furnishings and decor. Saturdays are insanely busy so avoid if crowds bother you. Lunchtime gets busy too but manages to keep lines moving pretty smoothly. This location has a smaller representation of goods than the Laurel location if I recall correctly but it’s also less hectic.

I must admit that I have to give props to the Dutch Farmer Market for offering a wide variety of freshly made goods at reasonable prices. Plus, the quality of them are almost unbeatable no matter what you plan on buying. I can’t think of anywhere else in the Germantown area where you can get freshly made bacon, pickled beets, bread, and so much more!
Come to think of it, other than a few confused kids, I don’t think that I recall seeing any grownups truly act unhappy at the market. Though fair warning, it can get crowded there during lunchtime especially. Still, the visit is quite worth it, no matter what your needs are.
Also, shoutout to Mary Belle for making beautiful ikebana inspired flower arrangements! My mother really liked hers and ours lasted for almost two weeks courtesy of the fact that we used a bed of rocks and water to make it last. :D

Good lord, where do I begin?!
EVERYTHING is delicious!
Best doughnuts, bread and pies in town 💯 Fresh baked. Daily.
The fried chicken is so good, we call it "Crack chicken" lol.
The chicken wings are 🔥 (they have breaded or non).
They have an amazing butcher, with fresh cuts of beef, pork, chicken, etc.
They even have a small Cafe inside that I'd quaint and cozy to eat at.

Forest setup of zip lines, rope rigs & wooden bridges has day & night passes for kids & adults.
This is an amazing Adventure Park, the best definitely within a 2 hr radius. We used to go here from the Philly area for my son, who loved it. It has courses ranging from easy (Yellow) to the super challenging Double Black Diamond course. The courses all include zip lines but it’s the treetop rope challenges that are really fun.

Great fun climbing and zip-lining throughout the trees on several courses that range from easy to challenging.
We reserved our spots online and showed up. Check in was easy and we were off to safety training. Staff was outstanding and really did a fantastic job of explaining everything. We have been here in the past, but the staff ensured we were in our harnesses correctly, understood the rules and knew the various ways to move around the course. The staff is really top notch.
Several amenities are available including a food truck, restrooms (porta potties), merchandise (gloves!), seating areas, lockers and large group areas. Large parking area as well.
This place is available for large groups, birthday parties, summer camps and work outings. There is even an axe throwing venue if climbing is not your thing.
So we had a great day. Courses are great. We came around 11 am and had purchased a 3 hour block. There is also night climbing as well.
Lots of fun. Great for families and all ages. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This is amazing place for safe and exciting friends and family fun. There are multiple skill levels. When you start, you get to practice the equipment and then the staff will help you choose the best course for your skill and fitness level. The staff is watching everyone at all times. I observed kids that were solo and couldn’t figure out how to work the zipline. The the staff went up into and through the course to reach the kid to help them figure out how to move forward.
There is also a snack and picnic area. There were birthday party areas too. They also have water stations all over the course. There are many areas to sit and watch if you don’t want to climb.
Daniel Holt in customer service was also a big help scheduling my reservations. He was very professional and helpful.
I highly recommend the Adventure Park if you’re looking for a fun place for your family, friends or a date. So much fun!! Bring or buy gloves!!

Had a fun and challenging experience! First time ever zip lining and on this kind of experience. If this is your first time, definitely start with easier courses. We started on yellow and it was still pretty challenging. You need to have good balance. Definitely doable, but be prepared for it to feel like a workout at times.
Staff members were great and very attentive. Felt safe at all times with the harnesses and the team ready to help if needed.

Easy to get to and tons of fun. Various difficulties and layouts make it great for all ages and skill levels. And a nice walking trail for those on the ground. Places to sit and eat at the front (plus a fairly priced food truck) as well as some picnic tables at the back. Water jugs at the front and back at well.

Took a gamble and booked a session. Plan to make a day of it. Bring drinks/snacks. Clean facilities, and had a fantastic "in touch with nature" feel. Lots of people there, but everyone was nice (especially the staff!) and there was not a lot of waiting to get through any elements. Despite the crowd, it didn't feel cramped or crowded. I was amazed at how quickly the kids took to it. It was very beginner friendly and ranged all the way to difficult. Do yourself/friends/kids a favor and try something you don't think you'll be able to do... You'll be amazed. I wish there was a demonstration of the "emergency exit" in the practice area before entering, as well as a map of the facility, but we felt pretty comfortable from the start.
Overall, great experience and my kids (6 and 7) had an absolute blast. Will definitely be going back!

The Adventure Park is a real hidden gem of the DC area. I always suggest it to out of town visitors who want a break from museums and the National Mall. Kids love it, adults love it and it really caters to a wide range of skills and abilities. You won't regret it.

Excellent location for zip lining and axe throwing. We went there as a Boy Scout troop and even though my son had been complaining all day of leg pain he seemed to do okay once he got there. The evening was pleasant and with the music and lights in the park it was great fun. The courses are challenging but very safe. Younger kids 5/6 will have a tough time as they need to be taller but can run around with another adult while you do it. Certainly plan to spend the entire few hours down there.

The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, making sure that we had all the necessary equipment and safety information before we began. The course consisted of several zip lines and a variety of rope obstacles, including rope bridges, tightrope walks, and swinging logs. Each obstacle was challenging but achievable, and it was a great way to test our skills and push ourselves out of our comfort zones.
The zip lines were definitely the highlight of the course. We were able to soar through the trees and take in the breathtaking views from above. The rush of adrenaline was incredible, and it was a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the area.
The course was well-maintained and the equipment was in excellent condition. We felt safe and secure at all times, which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience without any worries.

It was a fun and challenging experience. All of the staff members were pleasant and helpful with the exception of Amish. We needed guidance while putting the harnesses on. He was extremely rude and condescending. Tell him that we’re sorry for inconveniencing him to do the EXACT job he applied for. I recommend moving him somewhere helping customers isn’t involved. Other than that awesome place!
An option for white-water rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, biking & hiking excursions.
This was so much fun. The raft guides were all so great and knowledgeable. We had 3 rafts in our group which is how I got to experience more than one guide. The views were amazing you won't be disappointed. We got to swim the river and float down the river in a small current. Highly recommended. It's a 3 hrs tour on the river so eat before or pack a lunch for after. Light snack was provided mid tour. Closed toe water shoes recommended.

We had a delightful time. All of their equipment was in very good condition. They checked everyone's pfd's and helmets to ensure they were fit correctly and tight enough for our adventure. Maria, one of the guides, entertained everyone on the 12 minute bus ride, with funny West Virginia jokes. Our guide, Greta, did an excellent job of guiding us through the river and rapids. She was very personable and provided clear instructions which gave us confidence that we would go through each rapid smoothly, which we did. I highly recommend the adventure.

The staff was great and the service was great; however the trip was extremely short. From where we entered the water to where we exited, we were on the water for less than 40 minutes and you could early see the exit from the starting location. The staff was lovely and offered us to go down a second time due to the fast trip, however we were still disappointed in how short the trip was and would prefer a longer trip like some of the other companies offer.

Duckies are challenging, make sure you're prepared to get stuck on a rock even if you're think you're a pro. The guides will help you get off the rocks. It'll be a workout! Transportation to and from the river is fine, but expect to help the crew out transporting the rafts and duckies. They will give you water and snacks though.

Really bad experience! Please read this before you go!!!!
I went whitewater tubing on 8/6 11am. We have a group of ten people. None of us enjoyed the trip. First of all, there is a problem with the routing. Too many raised rocks, no way around. we had to walk in the water.
The safety measures are not enough. We saw a girl's leg was scratched by a rock, which was very serious and shed a lot of blood. But there is no security officer to ask for help. I went back to the cabin and told the staff that they knew about it
One more thing, it's not very fun. In the description, it is written that the whole journey is 1-2h or whitewater tubing. As a result, it took us nearly four hours to get ashore, and everyone was exhausted. Then it started to rain. Our friend is still stuck in the river. We ask staff for help. They couldn't get through the phone
Many of my friends have varying degrees of cuts, sunburns, and sore joints. Travel should be thrilling not four hours of cardio!!!
I should ask for a refund

My son(8) and I had a great day out on the river with these guys. Made the reservation the night before with no problem getting a spot. Our guide, Aaron, was super cool. He was very informative, polite, accommodating and by his attitude genuinely loves being a guide. His attitude made up for the low water level on the River. Check in process was simple and the other guides were great as well, the one giving us our instructions and safety rundown (Greta?) also had a good long list of jokes to make the hot bud ride fun(totally stealing the jokes on the local west Virginians). Would definitely go again and plan to when the rivers a bit higher. Great job guys, loved it and so did the kiddo!

Absolutely enjoyed the lazy river tubing!!! It is so relaxing. Lots of fun was had by all! The scenery is amazing!
Gillian Henry — Google review
Had an overall awful experience. There wasn't enough duckies originally packed so we had to wait for the guide to get his kayak and so we were already behind the rafts at the start. Our guide would just shoot the rapids without telling us how to get through so we just guessed our way through. The water was low too so we all got stuck many times on rocks. It felt like we were spending more time getting unstuck from rocks than paddling. When my husband caught up to a raft for better guidance through the rapids, he was scolded. Will never use this company again

The story of John Brown & the Harpers Ferry raid comes to life at this museum with wax displays.
If you are in Harpers Ferry and are interested in seeing the story of John Brown displayed in front of you, this is it. The wax figures here show off his life from a young age until his hanging, with audio to narrate each station. Be sure to scan the QR code by the first stop to get extra audio clips to really complete the experience. Entry is only a $5 donation to the museum

I will start with the fact that I read so many negative reviews about the wax museum that I wondered exactly how much it had changed since I've been there. I'm almost 40 and the last time I was there I was 10. My sister and I told our kids here on the 15th of September. Mine is 7 hers is 17 and 19. It was great! All the bad reviews saying it was in bad shape and needed repairs. 🤦🏽♀️ Don't listen to that. It was well worth the $7. The kids enjoyed the educational experience that came along with it as well. For as long as these people have been holding the same pose and haven't fallen apart is amazing. Take your kids there it's worth it trust me. Some people just don't appreciate the value of old things.

Not the highest quality wax figures, but the displays are very well done. The history lesson is also very interesting and is something most people likely don't know about American anti-slavery history. Very informative.
Harper's Ferry is home to a lot of historical attractions and this is just one of them. $7 for adults, $6 for seniors/veterans. Six floors of displays depicting the life of John Brown and his anti-slavery raid on Harper's Ferry.

This place is a must see when visiting Harper's Ferry. Although a bit dated, the scenes and lessons are timeless. It's the best and quickest way to see the story of John Brown and one of the most significant parts of Harper's Ferry's history. Highly recommended!
Deval Dragon — Google review
This is an incredible and bizarre museum. I wouldn’t quite say it’s a treasure since some of the campy and intense scenes are poorly maintained, but it is absolutely the type of place that you’ll be telling your kids about in 30 years and they will be like “no way!”. I highly recommend going to see it before it disappears forever. It’s a relic of a simpler time and the stories on the “wall of insurgents” are too grotesque to be believed.
Aran Keating — Google review
The displays are in disrepair, the lighting is very bad such that you can hardly read the plaques on the wall, and and worst of all it's just kind of shabby.
To boot, the displays aren't even that interesting. Several of the things on the wall seem just copied from the internet and printed with an inkjet printer. The best wax figure, John Brown with crazy eyes thrusting a bayonet, is visible from the street.
You won't learn anything or get a good perspective on anything that you can't get from one of the many free museums around. If you like creepy wax dolls though you're in for a treat.

What a country gem right next door to our growing city! We have visited Butler’s orchard several times to pick strawberries or apples and for some of their kid friendly outdoor fairs. We’ve also visited their country store to buy local produce, crafts and baked goods. In the fall, it’s a great place for pumpkins. If you go strawberry picking, you can bring your own containers to save a few dollars. They will weigh the containers and deduct that weight from the produce cost. Pick a lot and freeze the rest! You’ll be making strawberry pancakes and smoothies all year long.

In the fall, I’ve attended the fall festival during the weekends and enjoyed barbecue, kettle corn, walking through the corn maze, picking my own pumpkins and buying apple cider donuts. Great place for kids, for a date, and for a time with friends. I recommend buying the tickets for the fall festival online before the event.

One of Maryland secrets in my eyes. This place was great and a wonderful place for kids. I enjoyed the Kettle corn. That is a big hit. I believe I ended up with 4 bags then at closing. I went down to the store to express and purchase a few more snacks. The place is well set up. The festival area was safe and organized in my eyes. I arrived around 2pm. That is not enough time to get to everything at the festival. I didn't even make it.to the pumpkin and apple area so yeah...get there early or plan for a two day trip.

Great place to visit for strawberry picking, we did buy 25$ box and were able to fill that up very quickly. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Moment you reach destination based on GPS that's not the location for strawberry picking, you ll see sign from there saying which way to go for it and it's almost half mile. We did book 9am slot so we were able to pick good ones, I would suggest earlier the better. We also bought goat feeding online, which is again 0.1 miles from strawberry farm and very big play area for kids. Overall, it's a fun place to visit with kids.

My kids and I were there today for the first time. It was an amazing day. I had a lot of fun. Enjoyed self picking Raspberries and pumpkins as we came from Saudi Arabia, which no such farms. Didn't buy anything from the market as we were in a hurry to go back home, but I'm definitely planning to come back here, I really loved this experience!

Great farm with a huge variety of picking throughout the year. We love picking berries here but our all time favorite is flower picking. For $12 you get to fill a quart size containers with as many flowers as you can. Shears are provided and in august there’s an incredible selection of flowers. They’ve got a great market where they sell produce, home goods, and an assortment of prepared jams, sauces, foods, etc. don’t miss their Apple cider donuts during pumpkin season

Following last year, we visited this place again with my family this year. Most of it was similar to last year, but it was even better with new activities, including the corn pool. However, we felt that the food prices were a bit higher. I think we can enjoy the visit even more if they pay a little more attention to that.

Went for the sunflower harvest in August but I have also been apple picking! Such a beautiful bounty of fresh produce with plenty of play space and snacks for young kids! Highly recommend for families wanting a fun afternoon with great photo opportunities!

We went to Butler's in June for strawberry picking and had a great time. Freshly picked strawberries taste amazing, especially compared to berries in the grocery store. In addition to the pick-your-own fruits and veggies, they have a fun play area that the kids loved.
18-acre center exploring the local ecosystem via a planetarium, nature exhibits & wooded trail.
Robinson Nature Center was one of the highest quality experiences from a place I did not know existed a few days before I went. The staff is nice and their naturalists are super knowledgeable about all of the surrounding flora and fauna. The interior and exterior of the nature center were beautiful and was filled with super interesting and engaging subject matters that are near and dear to the area. If you're in the area and have not been I highly recommend it. It's a great way to spend an day getting involved in nature.

We visit this nature center often with our kids. They enjoy the indoor and outdoor play spaces and the exhibits. This weekend, we had our daughter’s 3rd birthday party here. It was such an easy process, from booking to party day. The staff was fantastic, and the setup and entertainment were so smooth. We did the puppet show and animal encounter package, and the cost was reasonable. The kids had a ball. I’d definitely recommend it for a nature-loving kid’s birthday.

This place was so great! We went in the winter so I'm sure it's even more beautiful when everything is in full bloom. We plan on returning! They had a fantastic exhibit inside with lots of facts for children. My little one wasn't as interested in this but I'm sure within a year it would be a hit. Then you can go out and follow the trails. These were wonderful with lots of things to see and eventually led you to a river which we enjoyed watching. There were lots of picnic tables outside for eating. They also had such a fun outside 'playground' with hammocks, outdoor kitchen, instruments, slide, and just lots of space. We really loved it and can't 2ait to go back!

Awesome, awesome place. So much to see. Montessori/natural vibe-type play area inside and out and tons of cool animal displays for the kids to see. Would definitely come again. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the staff weren't particularly friendly, but it wasn't a big deal.

Kids loved it here! The indoor play area didn’t have too many activities for the older kids (3+) but the baby section was super cute and on theme.
The exhibits were nice and we even saw a room that had bees you can see through the glass.
The outdoor space was amazing too, there is a mud kitchen, swings hanging from trees and a little music spot. My kids also enjoyed the woods. building blocks.
Overall a great experience.

Another Howard County gem! I just renewed my annual membership (thanks for senior rate); or you can pay small one-time admission fee for your visit. Staff members are friendly and enthusiastic. Besides birds, I've been looking for butterflies here for our county survey, run by members of the Howard County Bird Club. Wildflower gardens around the main building are amazing and attract a lot of butterflies and other pollinators. I was excited to find a great spangled fritillary yesterday. Trails in the woods with views of the river are wonderful -- constantly singing in summer are wood thrush, wood-pewee, towhee....

This is a great nature center. They have 2 floors of exhibits of both nature and history in the area. My favorite part was about the nocturnal animals. It has a playroom for kids and a quiet room if needed. The staff were all helpful and friendly. They also have gardens of native plants and great trails. I also got to see mill ruins on the property. They are not part of the American horticultural society but the cost is only $5.

A great learning center with multiple hands-on pieces. The staff is knowledgeable and we experienced an awesome turtle and snake show-and-tell. The hidden beehive is a fun find. There are multiple trails to wander and a small play area outside to get excessive kids energy out.

We recently had my son’s birthday party at Robinson Nature Center and it was great! First,
the staff was incredibly nice, accommodating and knowledgeable! Next, my 5-year old son is very interested in dinosaurs so we opted for the excavation option which entailed of a (brief) hike through the woods, followed by digging in a raised bed for dino bones and toys. After that, we had a whole classroom to ourselves for lunch and cake, followed by a brief self-guided tour through the nature maze on the property. There was also another room where they had fish and turtles on display that was open to the paying customers. A great trip for little ones!
Monocacy National Battlefield is situated on the grounds of a Civil War battleground and features a visitor center, hiking trails, and special events. The center offers exhibits on the area's history including a museum on the second floor with an observation deck that provides breathtaking views. Visitors can explore five different stops along the driving tour as well as three monuments erected by the Daughters of Confederates.
Me and my wife have went to the area several times but first time we stopped into the visitors center. Small but amazing, area for kids, gift shop and a wonderful museum on the 2nd floor with an beautiful view from the observation deck. Met Rich, had a great conversation with him and a ranger about the area and its history. Its a must visit if you are in the area.

Such a cool civil war battlefield to visit! They have a center right at the front, kind of like a welcome center that has an upstairs that gives you a quick rundown on everything and actually a little more detail on things that you won't get at the 5 visit locations. Every time you visit a house, you listen to a little recording that will give you the time of day and the direction the troops came from so you can literally picture it in your mind happening and where it came from. So fascinating and a must visit!

I went there yesterday and learned that the visitors center is closed on Tuesday and Thursday. The trails and the driving tour stops are open. There are 5 stops and one standing statue. There's also 3 monuments put up by the daughters of the Confederate.

Outstanding National Battlefield Park. This review covers the entire Park. The driving tour has 5 stops. Each stop has walking trails, signage, and buildings. Start at the visitor center and get Park map. Each stops has walking trails. The park map and road signs were easier to follow than Google Maps. This is a great Battlefield park.

This is a cool battlefield-small, but they have an awesome little museum upstairs at the VC. They've done a great job explaining what happened here. Stop in for a map and the start of the self guided driving tour. There's also lots of little hiking trails around.

Beautiful area, beautiful park, amazing history. Unfortunately, I had an experience here with an incredibly rude employee. If you’re not allowed to walk up to a cannon, perhaps it should be shown on a sign somewhere. We followed the footsteps in the snow since trails were not easily seen, only to be yelled by an employee that was incredibly rude and disrespectful. I checked all signs and no where is it stated to stay on walking trails only. I’m really disappointed with the park service and the way I was talked to by this rude man. Thanks for ruining our visit.

You know me by now...I'm a huge fan of the NPS. The Battle of Monocacy was the Confederacy trying to capture Washington DC but the Union troops saved our Capital. There is a driving tour of 5 stops...mostly farms and Monuments

The visitors center is EXCELLENT. They did a really good job with the resources they have. There is an audio tour they offer - I would recommend using the NPS app instead. The battlefield is basically buried in modern development, but kudos to them for doing the best they can with what they have.

Want to get out and explore the Civil War history in Frederick, MD? This is a great start to that adventure.
Begin at the Visitor Center for maps, an informative museum and an oral history of the battle there. Not much to see outside at the Visitor Center, but that is the starting point.
As you will see with your area map, there are multiple stops as you drive exploring the battle in the area. They are all fairly close which makes it easy. All of this is on your own exploring like in Gettysburg. We have just a few stops photographed here as we got a late start for this. If you blink, you will miss some of it as they are right next to each other. If you want to explore more, there are plenty of hiking trails for you to go on.
You go at your pace which makes for an enjoyable day exploring and learning.

Another facet of Frederick history that is not appreciated as much as it should be! The battle that saved our nation’s capitol from falling to the Confederacy. It’s worth doing the driving tour and there are many trails for hikers and walkers. The sites are preserved. The farm houses have not been restored inside but the houses themselves are quite spectacular. Something different for history buffs and their guests.
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is a well-curated museum in Frederick, MD that offers an immersive and educational experience through exhibits and life-size dioramas. It provides valuable insight into the medicinal treatment of wounded soldiers during the Civil War and how it paved the way for advancements in battlefield medical procedures that saved countless lives. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about civil medicine.
A wonderfully curated museum. Immersive. Interactive. Educational. So much history and education about a unique time and how the developments during this time in history shaped battlefield medical procedures going forward saving countless lives. Friendly, helpful and well-formed staff. A great experience!

Lots of interesting exhibits here at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in historic Frederick, MD. Most Civil War museums focus on the battles or weapons or famous generals for instance but the main focus here is obviously 19th century battlefield healthcare and medicine which is a unique aspect of Civil War history. The building is easily accessible and features elevators and stairs to get you to the different levels. There is a gift shop with sweet merch. Definitely check this one out!

If you are interested in the Civil War and/or medicine, then this museum to visit. It is quit small and can be viewed in about one, to one and a half hours. If you read EVERYTHING, like me then two and a half hours is needed, (keep in mind that I am a slow reader). The museum has some very good artifacts. The information is also detailed and informative. However this museum suffers from what ALL Pennsylvania museums suffer from; mannequins! I have been to many museums in my life but I have never seen such a prolific use of mannequins like I see here. But all in all some of them were ell worth it and added to the descriptions. There are some drawings, diagrams, photos and even mannequins that may be disturbing to look at. So tread lightly or send out a scout. The gift shop could be better stocked with more appropriate items. The last part of the museum has a time line of military medicine throughout history. There is even a mannequin of a modern day army medic; a nice touch. The employees are helpful and the bathrooms are clean. Worth a visit.

I used to live in downtown Frederick. Great little town! I visit at least twice a month to see mom and to pick up my packages which I can't have delivered to Baltimore due to the increase in porch pirates. I moved to Baltimore City for work but I'll be leaving very soon again for work.
Frederick was also where I sold two of my paintings.
Frederick is a wonderful place to live when you want the convenience of urban living but not necessarily the dirty, crime ridden parts of real urban living.

one of my most favorite places! I travel a lot and I'm always looking to find something like this to visit in other cities. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of places like this, we are very lucky to have it here in Maryland. By day you can take your children and find something to do and buy night you can have adult fun in the bars and restaurants.
Wonderful wine, especially the teserve chardonnay and the grounds, plants, shade area and lights make for a great location/ambiance.

Beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards. But it operated more like a restaurant than a wine tasting place. For the red flight you order they were larger pours with only 3 varieties. The waitress also did not explain the wines. The wines are quite pricey ($70 for a bottle which you are really in the realm of some top reds in the world). I think it is good to come for a drink but not very good for tasting purposes to try many varieties and learn about the wines which is why I come to a winery (instead of drinking wine in the restaurant in the city ) .

They have a variety of wine and food options, although some are a bit pricey. It’s worth it though! You’re allowed to bring your own food and walk through the vineyards. Everything went perfectly last Saturday at the Winery.
12 of us arrived at the winery for our 4pm reservation.
We requested seating in a shaded area. As it was all taken, we asked if umbrellas could be put up. And so umbrellas were found and set up for us, very graciously.
When one of the umbrellas didn’t function properly a bit later, they went out of their way to find and bring another one.
Service was excellent.

What a hidden gem! When we visited, the museum included a Picasso print/pen exhibit and a special display of children’s illustrations that was simply spectacular. Their permanent collection is excellent, including Titian, Rodin, Pearle, and so many others. One highlight is a working tall clock made by David Rittenhouse in the 18th century — and it still tells the right time and date. Divert off the highway and visit this museum!
Sizable mountainous open space with a man-made lake & the largest cascading waterfall in the state.
Camping experience: Clean bathrooms, quiet in off season, great staff. Wood is $9 a small bag. Some sites more private than others. Overall very nice. Not sure I'll return though as trails and lake is NOT in walking distance to the campground. I don't want to drive to do a hike.

The falls are spectacular, but the approach to them is on one of two short boardwalks with a wooden platform for viewing. You are highly discouraged from leaving the boardwalk in order to climb up the falls or across the stream or dip your toe in the water. Clearly that's to protect the environment but I had envisioned sitting at the bottom of the falls with my feet in the water.

Definitely good place to take the kids. I didn't bring mine, but i plan to bring them back. Large park divided into two areas, both of which could easily stand on their own. The falls side, features a 78 ft cascading waterfall and a 43 acre lake complete with swimming area that is monitored by lifeguards during the summer. Tons of picnicking areas with grills, beautiful rock filled trails, a nature center, and a nice bathrooms. The manor side features the ruins of an old brick home and a furnace, a place where they made iron. There are several signs for historical interpretation and some well marked short trails that provide a couple hundred years of history from many aspects. This place is great - well worth the 5$ entry fee.

There is a parking at the trailhead to the falls. The easier trail is about 1/2 mile one way and it is all gravels. There's a slope up and one slope down, with gravels, be sure to wear shoes with traction. If you have stability concerns, walk with someone and rely on them for support. There are bugs in the trails, wear bug spray!! When you get to the falls, there is a short boardwalk that leads to the falls. This is the 3rd time I have been here and the falls is smaller than I had hope. Maybe after a huge rain storm, the falls would get bigger. Think the distribution of water at the top probably determines the size of the falls. If you look closely near the top, you will see several mini falls. It's still nice to see but I don't recommend making a special trip out just to see... Or unless you just want to take a hike and seeing the falls is just something extra. I didn't take the long trail back through the woods as intended, which I did the past 2 times, because one if my pups hurt her leg yesterday and was a little slow today. The trail through the woods was so worth the visit. There are huge rocks/boulders on the trail and you get to climb some. It's a great workout. Definitely come for the hike, not just the falls.

This is a nice easy walk especially with little kids with minimal elevation gain. You can make it a little longer and steeper by taking the alternate trail that parallels the lower trail. The falls are beautiful.
The trail was icey in spots this past week after the rain and sudden drop in temperature but still easy to navigate.

We stopped by on a Monday morning in early spring. There were a few cars at the parking lot but we didn't encounter anyone along the way. It was a short and easy stroll from the carpark to the viewing platforms. We decided not to take the cliff trail as it was rocky and not everyone was wearing hiking shoes.

Its a beautiful park and we enjoy walking on the trail going to the falls. Entrance is $5 per Car, not per person. They have different parking lot for whereever you want to go. You can choose what level you want to go and we decide to take the easy lower level of the falls which is .5 miles and it was still nice, and you can climb more and choose diff path to take.

A great family friends place to spend time. Inexpensive entry fee. Lots to offer! We swam in the lake and even rented a tandem kayak for an hour! The views surrounding are beautiful. Very peaceful here. Clean renovated restrooms were a plus! Also tons of area to spread out!

Great campground. Cleanly maintained showerhouses. Nice individual sites, some with electric, some without. There is a camp store if you forget anything but it was closed for most of our visit.
Gives you access to the lake, hiking paths, falls, and quick drive to the town of Thurmont for stores, supplies and ice cream.
**quick tip: the beach by the lake gets VERY busy in the summer time on a weekend. If you can manage to go on a weekday you’ll have a much more relaxing experience.

The Houck camping area is excellent. The falls are cute--don't expect Victoria Falls or something. They're a few small but pleasing cascades over one rock face. The trails are easy to mix and match and generally well blazed. It also abuts Catoctin Mountain Park, run by the National Park Service, which I had the pleasure of visiting as well. The area has generally rocky trails with the option to stay mellow or get some elevation (I was looking for a challenge and was able to get about 3500 ft in 16 hrs). A rocky, foresty gem for outdoors lovers.

Lots of great trails for hikers of all levels. There are also handicap parking/trail access areas. There is also a beach/lake area for boating and swimming.
Note that due to a lack of rain/snow the 2023 water levels are very low.

I read an article entitled "Eight places in Maryland you need to visit" which listed Cunningham Falls State Park. It did not disappoint! Although I never found the Falls it was a perfect day. Even the weather cooperated, there was a respite from the typical late August humidity and temperatures.
The beach was not crowded at all. There's an area not far from the beach (walking distance) where families were grilling. And the mountain views were absolutely gorgeous!

Perfect swimming hole, especially for young children since it's shallow and they have ropes to separate different depths. It's so beautiful out here just water and the mountains and the perfect place to disconnect since none of the family had cell service the entire trip. Believe it or not the kids didn't loose their minds not having service and thats how you know we all had a great time! Lol definitely recommend but plan on arriving early as they do fill to capacity. They have beautiful picnic areas and surprisingly clean bathrooms. The north side has a concession stand we all had funnel cake fries they were absolutely delicious they also have a playground but we were too busy fish watching in the water! They have kayak rentals as well we just didn't get a chance to check that out definitely next time

Very pretty trail to hike to the falls. Some areas were a bit steep, and there were wide steps in the hillside. The boardwalk takes you to the base of the falls. However, you could walk past the walkway and hike uphill to the top of the falls. Large rocks to climb, so wear appropriate hiking shoes. Road noise due to the road being nearby. Be cautious, crossing the road!
OMG! This is one of my favorite places to shop for food both prepared and things to prepare at home. It is really dangerous for me to visit. The bakery is just excellent. My favorite pies are the raspberry, chocolate cream, pecan, and caramel apple but they have all kinds. I bought some of each that I mentioned, half and single slices. A nice place to sit and have lunch, delicious home cooked food at a reasonable price or carry-out. We also buy cuts of meat. They are only open Thursday thru Saturday. Check it out if you find yourself in the area.

This place is amazing. It’s a typical PA Dutch Market. There’s a huge selection of fresh baked goods as well as cooked meats, popcorn, pizza, chocolates, fudge, bulk candy, pretzels, salads and sides! They take credit/debit cards here as well. Got a salted pretzel, and it was DELICIOUS! Reminded me of the Auntie’s Anne’s pretzels you get at the mall, but way better! No wonder there was a long line, but highly worth the wait! Got a pulled rib sandwich, and the portions were HUGE, and was very delicious! The smoked brisket here from the meat vendor was amazing as well! Everyone who helped behind the counters were friendly and smiling. I love this place, and will definitely be back to try more items! Parking can be a bit hectic on the weekends, but it’s because they’re packed on the weekends and for good reason, because this place is awesome!

My first Dutch Market experience and it was great. The people were so nice and the food was just awesome. I have a nice chicken bites with veggies lunch and ice cream for dessert. Got some apple bread to go with my coffee when I get home. This was a true experience and if you’re ever in Hagertown, Md you have to stop bye.

If you are looking for fresh baked breads and foods this place is a must stop. Absolutely hated that each station had their own check out. We stopped and got chocolates and we had some cheese , we could not pay for them together. Had to get in another line near the cheese. Great place except for that. It was packed full!

WOW! What awesome, all cooked on the spot in front of you, food items!, except for all pre- wrapped items such as candy, spices, honey n w/comb, pure maple syrup!
Kind of pricey but as you're walking thru deals are offered for specialty items! They have a little food court with little miniature restaurants inside! Lots of seating as well! They even sell furniture and chimes (big to small)! Just a really cool place to spend an afternoon looking, purchasing and eating! *You'll need several trips to explore all the excellent foods offered! Loved the experience! I totally recommend going cuz I'll definitely be going back!

I'm from Southeastern VA. We don't have mountains there. Or hills...even. This place was radically different from what I am used to seeing. Love the rocky terrain, the mountains, the trees. Wish I had the chance to see the waterfalls but that just means I need to come back! Great photo oppurtunies everywhere. Clean park. Would love to come back soon!

The 10-15 min hike uphill was a little rough for people with varying abilities, stop saying it’s easy when you’re only considering yourself and ego. I likely wouldn’t have hiked up if I had know there was an easier path to the small waterfall base after recently injuring my knee, ankle and toes. Once up trail you’re basically there at the waterfall area. It’s not as clean as it should be and it’s unclear why individuals choose to pollute other than selfish habits passed on by selfish parents.
I noticed a deck off of the hikers path and followed it out to where there’s a small parking area for wheelchair accessibility and that’s excellent! It’s a nice wide deck for easy maneuvering and it leads straight to the fall.
If you’re physically abled then I do suggest climbing to the top of the waterfall as that’s where the real view is. Nothing super fancy or crowded, but just some rock climbing fun with steeper areas than others. It does get slippery so be mindful and take your time.
Kids should be kept close during the climb as there are sharp, slippery and steep ridges. If you go off the regular path you’ll find some nice flora including poison ivy and oak so look up what they look like before your hike so you know what to avoid.
And remember, don’t feed wildlife with chemically human food. Bring a small trash bag with you, pick up after yourself and if it’s easy enough to pick up what others left, then just do it.
Do better, be kinder and these lands will flourish with you.

So much to do and what a wonderful place for living history. I had no idea what a landmark this place was and how much there is to do. It's a gem of the area with plenty of hiking, landmarks, and forested areas. Watch out when they caution against rattlesnakes. We saw two up on Wolf's Rock chillin between the rock crevices.

Catoctin mountain Park is a great spot with a decent variety of terrain and views. Hikes are pleasant, well marked, and not difficult, and they have free, level 2 charging, in the park. There is a ranger station with friendly, knowledgeable rangers and volunteers, maps, pictures, and useful information. They also sell annual passes.

Comfortable driving distances from Baltimore or Washington DC. There are relaxing walking trails for beginners or people who like challenges. The park rangers at the visitor center are very friendly and resourceful. The facility is clean. Plenty of parking spaces throughout the park which are great. This park is pet friendly. There are also historical perspectives embedded in a few trails. This makes the trip more interesting. The view at several summits are worth of the trip.

Peaceful forest with trails of varying ability. Coming in April, the weather was perfect for some mid day hikes while the leaves are starting to grow back. I went during a weekday and crowds were limited. It was nice to see how clean and well maintained the trails were. We also happened to see some spring flowers and a snake in a tree!

This park is beautiful. It was an easy 1.5 hr drive from Baltimore City, there is no entrance or parking fee. The trails were well maintained with no garbage. The staff at the visitor center were able to give me clear directions to get to the trail that I was looking for, and the bathroom in the visitor center was also clean and well stocked. The only downside was that at Cunningham Falls SO many people were not following the signs that warned that the falls were dangerous, and there were many many young children off the path playing in the falls. All of the signs direct people to stay on the trails/boardwalks.

We visited in early August 2023. Mainly visited because Scouts BSA was holding a summer camp out at the Round Meadow Campgrounds. The visitor center was great. There is a exhibit room with a number of things to read about and look at. They also offer a junior ranger program here. There is a small bookstore/gift shop which sells a number of fun items. The staff was super pleasant to talk to and the rangers as well. There is a place to get your National Park Cancellation Stamp as well as junior ranger stamp. I didn't have much time to spend in the visitor center but from what I saw it was great and the bathrooms were nice too. The parking lot was a bit small but I think across the road there was additional parking spots. I visited on a Wednesday morning where there was only 2 other cars in the lot with me. Make the first right turn when coming off the main road. When I visited again on the Saturday morning around 11AM the lot directly in front of the visitor center was basically full. It looked like there was a hiking group or club gathering there ready to go. There also were 2 electric car charging station/ports in the parking lot. I think they may be the first time I've noticed that at any national park site. I included the picture, I'm not sure which ports they were as I don't own a electric vehicle.
I did drive through the park itself to get to the camp round meadow and the park was beautiful. Full of trees and multiple small parking lots on the side of the main road for different trails heads I would presume. I would definitely come back for sure and do some hikes. It's not too far out from the DC metro area.
Camp Round Meadow itself was great and the facilities we stayed in were also great. The bunk houses and bathrooms were terrific. Especially from scout BSA summer camp standards.
There were also some traffic concerns as a presidential summit was taking place at Camp David later in the week and certain roads were closed off as a result but we did get ample warning. Something to just keep in mind before deciding to visit. There was a increase presence of security as well. On the plus side we got to see a bunch of interesting plans fly by. Everyone liked watching the Osprey with it adjustable propellers for vertical landing and take off.

We int need to hike the thurston-griggs trail but it was closed for the season. Instead we tried this nearby trail. The trail was in great condition. It's well marked and clear of snow.
What a wonderful place! I go here every fall for apple picking and every spring for strawberry’s. The price is reasonable and they always have fresh produce in the fields.
My kids love the free petting zoo and big slide. They have a market and activities for the kids.
The staff is always friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this orchard.

An awesome time for our group of 11. Petting zoo, hay tide to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. The market had lots of great ciders, jams, pies, donuts and anything else you can think of. Cooked food: funnel cake, tenders and fries, brats, and other food. Playgrounds for the kiddos! Tons of fun for all! This was our first year going - we'll definitely be back!

Was a great experience picking cherries with the family. A tractor takes you to the field and you pick as much as you can carry in your bucket. There are 2 playgrounds, a market, and a petting zoo. A must visit place for families.

We were in the area for a car show this morning and decided to stop by Baugher's Orchards & Farm on a whim...
...and so glad we did! First, the market smells incredible, like sweet apple scent (makes sense since there are apples everywhere). There is a large variety of jams, pies, sauces, spices, fruit/veggies, fudge/candy and drinks available - even the pickiest person can find something to enjoy.
We purchased 6 Joe Teas (try the mango tea, it's fantastic), a blackberry pie, red velvet roll, two bags of chips, a Cheerwine, Vidalia onion ranch dressing and apple cinnamon pancake mix for about $55 (10% off for Veterans today). Considering this is a local business and market, the prices were very fair!
I want to remark on the staff as well. We had three checkouts (kept going back for more!) and the blonde young man who served us was SO nice. He even gave my boyfriend a free donut since he's a Marine veteran. He was polite and easy to engage with. We both remarked on how nice the Baugher's team members were and I hope management is proud!
We then stopped at the petting zoo and enjoyed the animals. I'd recommend parking at the market and enjoying the short walk to the zoo, it's not far and parking spots were limited by the zoo. The animals are precious and well fed. If you plan to hit the zoo, buy a few apples to share with the animals, they'll love you forever. The petting zoo was free but donations are appreciated.
Overall we had a wonderful Fall afternoon at the market and petting zoo. We will definitely be back. Thank you to all at Baugher's!

Great place for family and friends! There are a lot of options for activities in the fall. They have apple picking, pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, trailer rides, food, a market, a scarecrow making area, pumpkins and apples that you can buy without picking, and live music. Would recommend!

We went up for the pumpkin patch and it was a great time! We took a hay ride via tractor on a beautiful ride past the apple and sunflowers grown in the farm. The pumpkin patch was huge and we found great pumpkins. There is a big slide playground there as well. They have an area to park your stroller and bags to get on the hay ride. They also have a big market to buy baked goods, cider, etc. Also includes food vendors. Great place with an authentic farm feel!

Absolutely love going to Baugher's for fresh local fruit! Pick your own is so much fun! 3 and under are free. You can purchase tickets online for a cheaper price vs buying at the orchard. They have a petting zoo and playground for kids. Beautiful rolling hills in the county side make the perfect background for photos! Love the market, just wish it was bigger and had more to offer. Ps - you can buy a bag of animal feed for the petting zoo at the Market for $1. Otherwise, they have quarter machines at the petting zoo.

This place really grabbed my kids attention. Even my 13yo son who rolls his eyes a lot. The stories I could tell with the animals at this place in just one visit. Lots of personality! We all laughed A LOT! The slide alone entertained them for almost an hour. We left with lots of delicious food from their store and learned that Jonathan apples are similar to Macintosh which are my favorites. Wish I had bought more. They even had some toys and candy for kids to enjoy 😁

Just peachy! Fun and interesting. Loved riding to and from the groves on a tractor-pulled tram. Picturesque, gently-rolling MD countryside views are abundant on this 100+ year-old, 600 acre family farm. Great for kids with multiple playground areas and a very cool petting zoo.
Nice farm store filled to bursting with produce, plants, unique groceries, jams, and items galore! Nice clean facilities. Helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommended!

I can't give Baugher's 5 stars due to them not allowing bags (of reasonable need and size) in their orchards, their prices (could be a tad bit lower), they charge 2 separate prices for apple and pumpkin picking, and $0.50 to get feed out of the machines to feed the animals to $0.25 too much.
If you can buy a bag of animal feed for $1.00 at the market. Why not offer that option down by the animals? That's poor marketing and not good for business.
Other than those 4 factors, Baugher's is worth the 90-minute drive for me and the family.
The hilly areas make for good exercise and beautiful photo ops. The market has more than enough to offer. My wife has to give me a LOOK (telling me to watch the spending) when we go into the market. 🤣🤣
The food trucks are a hit. Although, dont overdue it. Especially the stand with the pit beef and pit ham and fries - YUMMY!!
Baugher's is a great place to go with the family.
There's lots to do and see. You're going to spend a little bit of money. But overall, it's worth it.
As someone who grew up on a family farm (Shady Brook in Yardley, PA), I appreciate what Baugher's is doing and what the farm offers.

Great outing for the kids. My daughter didn't want to leave. I had to drag her to the car. We picked peaches and black berries while we were there. The orchard has a list of fruits by the month that in season on their website and by the front entrance. We took wagon ride to each location, which made the adventure intriguing. There is also a petting zoo. We were able to get up close and interact with a variety of farm animals while we fed them. My daughter got a kickbour of it. Watch out!!! The main attraction, though, for the kids is the zinc tunnel slide 🛝 located behind the market and down the little hill by the second playground. Bring change of clothes for the kids you are going to need it, trust me on this !! Overall, we had a wonderful time. I'm definitely taking me kids there again!!

What an amazing experience this place is! The vast size of this battlefield is awe inspiring. Over 70,000 men lost their lives battling over a 24 acre piece of land, to either keep or do away with slavery. To learn and to actually be able to visualize how far a canon ball weighing 8 pounds could be launched a mile away with a canon two hundred years ago is truly incredible. The museum displays of the uniforms, handguns, rifles and various artifacts is extensive.
I enjoyed the bus tour with the tour guide.
It was interesting and fun to hear the narrative of the battle and learn about the little to unknown facts about the battle.
In order to experience the entire Gettysburg site, it is easily a two day trip.
For convenience, there is a small cafeteria in the main building. The new museum building was.built in 2008 and is very clean and modern. There is a good sized souvenir shop in the main building as well. There are also numerous nearby hotels, souvenir shops and restaurants in the City of Gettysburg.
For the history buff, this is a must see place to visit.

My wife needed a wheelchair and the staff were really helpful in getting her one and they helped at all the exhibit entrances. The cyclorama is completely different in a very good way from the use of lights, simulated cannon and gunfire and the narration of events. I went last time 25 years ago but this time they brought it to life.
When it gets close to 5 be ready to exit quickly and that includes the gift shop. The rest rooms are cordoned off too.
If you have a disabled member of your family take them to the drop off point with benches and then go to the disabled parking which is a 1/4 mile walk to the front entrance.

This is a really nice park, very educational, and very clean. The prices in the gift shops and restaurants are on the higher side, but that’s to be expected at a tourist trap. I downloaded one of the self-guided tours for my iPhone, and I have to say that it was one of the best things that I've done while visiting Gettysburg. The tour was extremely informative, and it's well laid out and worked well with my Google Maps, so I knew exactly where to go.

History lesson at its best. Recommend starting with Cyclorama & Narrated movie to help put all the pieces together. So much took place over the 3 days of the fighting, that it is so helpful to get the overview. There is an App for the battlefield tour that guides you along the way. Very effective. There is also an App for all of the National Parks that adds extra content before heading out. Parking lots full of licenses from all over the US.

My significant other and I went here on vacation and it was wonderful. They have packages that are affordable, including a bus tour, and access to the museum. The park rangers do a lot of informative activities as well that are free. You could easily spend an entire day here between the tours (they have a self guided car version, an informative bus tour), the museum, and the additional activities run by the museum and parks department. The gift shop is beautiful, and reasonable as well. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and informative about what to take advantage of. I would visit here again if given the opportunity.

I would give it a 5 star but the cost to get in makes in inaccessible to many people. (Just over $20 as of Nov. 2023). The movie was a great summary of what led to the battle at Gettysburg and touched on the aftermath. It was better than I had expected.
The cyclorama was impressive when you learn that it is an actual oil painting from the turn of the century - and moved to Gettysburg in 1913. It went through a restoration and if you are a fan of history or art, this is a must see.

You can link the experience with other Histories places in PA and follow up the past, the present and the future. The museum has one of the biggest oil painting in the world which describes the reality of the battlefield of Gettysburg vs General Lee.
If you willing to learn our freedom and why was important the emancipation, go and visit this area.

I am a lover of American history and have visited many historical sights, memorials, and battlefields, Gettysburg is one of the best I have seen.
The number of monuments, markers, and displays not only in the museum but all around the battlefield is just incredible.
From the video in the visitor's center/ museum to the driving path, there is so much to see and learn.
We downloaded the National Parks app which has a link to a free audio-guided tour. Loved it!
I suggest- seeing the video, seeing the museum, driving the tour with the audio guide, and seeing the Gettysburg cemetery. See the spot where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.

I agree with that don't eat here because the prices are ridiculous and it's not run by the park service or anybody at the visitor center. It's like a third-party hired out café and the food is really bad quality.! The museum bookstore had an author signing, so we looked out and got a historical book for our son, author: William Styple signed! there's some snacks available there lots of historical books, lotta tchotchkes it seemed very commercialized like you can get a coffee mug with Gettysburg and Abraham Lincoln bubblehead lol. bus tours are $40 for adults. I can't remember the prices for kids and they have four of those that leave Daley. It looks like I'm not sure if it's going to change later in spring or summer hours and the visitor center is nice and the upkeep is nice, and the restrooms are clean. Very windy out on the battlefield. there is a tour where you sit in your car and watch a couple videos at various stop so you can get out and then there's the walking tour that takes about an hour and a half and then there's the bus tours that take about two hours..
My family recommends the auto & walking tours, download the app. Learning about an important war in our country, shouldn't be considered a Tour strap and shouldn't be so much money specially if people need chip jars so apparently they're not getting paid a living wage which is a whole other story but yes, recommend going to Gettysburg at least once in your life and it's quite educational if you download the free tour...

I visited on a Thursday morning. We were on our way home so had limited time. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We unfortunately did not have the time to go thru the museum. What I read indicates you need 4 hours. There is one hall that you can view for free. It consists of a lot of items that have been found on the battleground. It was very interesting. They have a map of the battleground park available however it is not very accurate. Google was very helpful finding the memorials we wanted to see. We look forward to coming back and spending more time. The park is well maintained and well labeled. There are a lot of options for how you tour the park. Self-guided, with a group and there are options for private guides. The heritage guides even dress up. You can use guides from the park itself and there are lots of companies that offer guides as well.
The Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center is a renowned destination that features scenic trails and an indoor museum dedicated to the Civil War. In 2008, the center moved to a state-of-the-art facility costing $103 million, offering visitors an exceptional experience. The center offers informative movies and knowledgeable guides for students, making it an ideal location for history lovers of all ages.
Always love Gettysburg. Haven’t been here in a number if years. The visitor’s center is great and the overview movie very informative. Had a wonderful guide for our students. Very knowledgeable and gave plenty of information. So much to see and learn.

What an incredible place. I didn't have enough time to truly explore the entirety of it, as it is so incredibly vast. The bus tour was well worth the money, and comes with a very nice driver and a knowledgeable and friendly guide.

Highly recommend: schedule a private tour for 3 hours and let the professional guide diving you to the past of the history.

AMAZING!

The Gettysburg National Cemetery in Pennsylvania is a historical landmark that serves as a memorial to the Union soldiers who lost their lives during the American Civil War. It was established in 1863 and features the resting place of 3,512 brave soldiers. The cemetery is open daily for visitors to pay homage to these fallen heroes and appreciate its beautiful grounds. Additionally, it serves as an important reminder of our nation's past and represents a significant piece of national history.
I loved seeing the battle field's to sit and think of what happened here. To see our own fighting against our own for a better life for all.
Both sides had their reasons. Both sides understood the cost. Now, we live in a world where no one understands the cost of freedom.
Now, everyone looks the other way and forgets.
I served in 2-2 Infantry for 10 years. A lot of the pictures are of 2-2 Infantry.
Dedicated to my fallen brothers.

Our motel was close too here. We walked it ourselves in a self guided tour. Lots of status and plaques too read. So many people died it really gives you more of a perspective on the sacrifices that were made. I couldn't believe all the graves marked unknown. You can easily walk through here in under two hours. So many rabbits were running around and were not even scared of us as we approached. If you have small children they will definitely be bored walking through here. Part of the cemetery was closed and blocked off so we were unable too walk it.

The experience at Gettysburg was a solemn venture. It is a free self-guide tour, or if you want a more detailed experience, there are available tour guides in the area. Our family choose the self guided exploration of the grounds. It was an honor to walk among the beautiful landscape, immaculate stones, and to see the craftsmanship of the monuments here. There is a bit of walking, so make sure to bring some water or even a snack. The park can be fully explored in few hours. There was a parking lot adjacent to the park that had adequate parking. There is also a museum on the grounds, but it was not open when we visited here. What a great source of American history for the family! A must see if you’re traveling in the area!

Although there are many monuments, there are none that clearly identify where exactly Lincoln gave his timeless Gettysburg Address. Who would no since there are no pictures or vids? No matter! If you listen closely, you can almost hear the speech whispering in the wind. Walking among the graves of fine soldiers is a solemn and humbling experience. I’m honored to have visited. I highly recommend going and giving your children a somber learning experience.

We went on a Sunday morning, which was perfect. We were the only people there. The quiet added to the stillness and solemn nature of the location. The monuments are magnificent. The sheer number of grave markers is daunting. Parking is easy, across the street, which is cool, as it keeps the cemetery quieter.

Jennie Wade House is a museum dedicated to civilian casualty Jennie Wade. It exhibits items related to domestic wartime life and contains information about the first and only civilian casualty of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Our tour guide Allison was amazing! She was kind, very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and spirits in the Jennie Wade house! You can tell she truly loves and is passionate about the Jennie Wade house and Gettysburg! What also makes Allison our tour guide special is she is retired from the Air Force. Thank you Allison for your service!!
If you go to Gettysburg we highly recommend the Jennie Wade House! I did feel some kind of energy in the house. When we came out of the basement at the end of the tour a few of us smelled rosemary coming from the basement. I think I might of also captured a spirit in one of the many photos I took. I think it is the shadow man that Allison said hangs around this particular spot in the photo.

Historically Jenny Wade is known as the only Civilian killed in the three days Battle of Gettysburg.
At twenty years old, baking bread for the Union soldiers, would prove to be fatal.
The small home is incredibly still in tact and battle worn, with evident bullet holes and bullets lodged into the frame in which they've sat for the past century and a half.
It is surreal to stand within the walls of the home and be told the events that had unfolded here.
In all of the homes that I visited in Gettysburg, I think it was here in the Jenny Wade home that I was able to envision the battle from a civilian perspective the best and how horrific that side of the battle must have been, as well.
Great tour, fair price, and friendly staff. A must stop location while trying to experience and understand the battle from all perspectives.
My only dislike regarding the property is how commercialized the surrounding area has became. The home, is easily bypassed, sitting almost in the shadow of a rather looming hotel. While its easy to get lost in time from the inside, on the outside, the modernized surroundings makes it almost impossible to truly connect with the past.
Recommended, following up this tour with a stop at the local cemetery where you can locate fairly easily Jenny's grave.

We visited on Easter Sunday due to not observing the holiday. They were open from 12pm-3pm which was appreciated!
The workers were clad in time-appropriate fashions. The gift shop, upon entering, has so many neat nick-nacks and locally made crafts!
Jennie's sister's house was quite a sobering experience that I will forever appreciate the opportunity to have had.
Because I went early in the season, my family had a seven minute intro by a worker whom showed us the bullet holes, and then allowed us to tour the home on our own with the help of a detailed brochure.
As we walked through the house on our self-guided tour, it was almost a more personal experience than if a guide were to walk with us. We were able to be alone in the kitchen where Jennie leaned over her dough tray, selflessly making biscuits for union soldiers. We were able to see the hole where her poor family carried her body to the neighbors house a down into the cellar where her body rested until it was safe to bury.
This was a great place to stumble upon, and one that I was not aware of prior to planning my Gettysburg trip.
Make sure to visit the place where an innocent civilian lost her life as a result of the Battle of Gettysburg.

I have been to Gettysburg a hundred times and hadn’t been to the Jennie Wade house until this year. I stopped in on a Saturday in late October. I didn’t book ahead and I don’t even know if that’s an option. Arrived around 3 and was able to get in on the 4:15p tour. The house is between the graveyard and Reid’s Winery/Cidery. So if you have to wait, it’s easy to find something else to do in the meantime.
The guided part of the tour was quick - 10 min or so. The guide gave a description of Jennie and her family and what happened leading up to the house being fired on. It was interesting and I never knew the whole story. This wasn’t actually where Jennie lived - that house is down on Breckinridge street and is a private residence but I was told there are signs so you know you are at the right house if you want to see how far it was that she walked - it’s not very far. Anyway, after the short guided tour, you are just walk through on your own. There might have been 20 people total on this tour but it didn’t feel cramped or rushed.
There is an adjacent parking lot but that is for the hotel guests. I parked on the street which is metered and I had no trouble finding a spot. I paid around $2.50ish for 2 hours. There is a little gift shop attached to the house selling everything from Christmas ornaments to Jennie dolls, mugs and candy.
I paid $10 and change with a AAA discount for the tour.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to go in because the there were no more tours available on that day. But we roomed around the house and it was really nice. My fiancé put her finger through the bullet hole. If you you have been here, you probably know what this means.

This is a must stop if you know your history, but for a family of 4 it was $47 and the guide really didn’t share much before turning us loose. He talked about 5 minutes and it only took less than 10 minutes to see everything. That was disappointing. Now, that being said, if you knew about Jack Skelly and Wesley Culp, about the bullet ricochet on the mantle, the bed style being a rolling pin bed that passer comes off that allows you to “hit the hay” all of these small stories would have made it seem more like a value.

It is an absolute shame how this man runs this place! He accepted special treasured war memorials from family members of World War II veterans. Now he is only open on weekends. His Internet site said he's only closed on Tuesdays. I'm a big fan of the History Traveler and made a special trip to see this place. I show up on a Wednesday and a sign says they're closed and only open on weekends. A UPS truck pulls up and a woman opens the door. I told her I drove up special from Florida to see the museum and she could not have shut the door fast enough and told me we're closed.
I can't believe he accepted war treasures from The Band of Brothers members under these circumstances. It's my way of paying my respects as I go to each Museum to honor what the greatest generation has done. I was also prepared to make a large donation to the museum.
I would think the wifes and children of these war heroes would want their veterans treasures back to go to a museum that would display them at least 6 days a week.
I also can't believe the YouTube history Travelers series now attaches themselves to this third class Museum.

It's amazing how much he has collected from the wars and presidents. As a military family we appreciate the care that was taken to preserve all the medals and military artifacts. Definitely worth walking through while visiting Gettysburg.

A beautiful sight seeing experience. This historic location is a must see place while visiting the battlefields of Gettysburg. Make sure to take lots of pictures and look up the history as well.

Pretty cool free museum. They do encourage donations. Alot of cool stuff packed on here. They also have some authentic items for sale.

Incredible pieces of history from various time periods, mainly the Civil War and WWII eras. There is also a room entirely dedicated to JFK and a corner with Lee Harvey Oswald.
Recommend to dedicate 45-90 minutes to read most displays and look at just about everything. My fiancé and I spent about 75min total, with about 15min looking to purchase a relic by the front desk. Staff was also very friendly. Free to public. Make a donation to support operations as they are not funded by federal or state.

I love history and I remember visiting Gettysburg on my 8th grade field trip in 2003 and 20 years later I revisited it and was still amazed by it. Definitely recommend to any history buffs! So much to see and so much to learn.

Great museum for everyone. Real artifacts with true history. I would recommend this over any other museum. You won't find another museum with this much history in town.

Literally one of the coolest museums I have been too. Even got to see the owner Eric Dorr but i think he was irritated he got called in by someone and so i didn’t want to bug him, but there are things here you’ll see nowhere else. You can even buy artifacts. If you like the store, you can also follow History Traveler on YouTube that features the shop frequently.

I thought the place was extremely neat overall. The reason for the missing star is that I was denied service on something. As a collector of these sort of items, I was thrilled to see a sign saying that some of what was on display was for sale. When I asked about it, I was told that nothing on display was for sale and i would have to check the website. Maybe I'm confused, but if I was denied service because of my youth, I'm quite upset. To provide some context, im a month short of 18. Anyhow, besides the customer service, I think it was a neat museum with tons of cool stuff to check out.
Edit: I feel it's quite evident I wasn't allowed to purchase merchandise because of my young appearance. I checked the website, and most of the stuff on display was for sale there. I can say that although the stuff is unbelievably cool, they lost a customer. I would've most definitely purchased from them, but basing who you are and arnet willing to at least show around based on age is downright crude.

We really enjoyed the Gettysburg museum and surrounding exhibits. After going through the indoor museum and exhibits, make sure to take some walks and do the entire driving tour. You become very familiar and oriented with this important event, and you can better relate to the people involved. There was so much to see that we spent an extra half-day to get as much in as possible. It was very interesting and informative, very well done!! We will be back.
Codorus State Park is a sprawling 3,490-acre park that offers numerous recreational activities for visitors. The park boasts of Lake Marburg, which provides ample opportunities for fishing and boating. Besides this, there are extensive trails for hiking and areas designated for hunting and camping. The park also has plenty of wildlife to observe and bird-watchers will have an excellent time exploring the area.
Codorus State Park is very big and is dominated by the lake. I have never fished here since I move to this area a year ago, but I intend to this summer. I am told by many that the fishing is good.
The ranger station has a wildlife display that I found very informative and interesting. There is also a public swimming pool that looks impressive and also a memorial to the U.S. Military that is good to visit.
On my first visit to the park I came within 200 feet of a Doe & buck that just hopped out of the woods. We stood staring each other down until my reaching for my camera spooked them away.
I have been back many times and enjoy each visit.

Gorgeous park! Beautiful views all over. We visited to play on the Disc Golf courses, and they were alot of fun! It was a really pretty park to explore, and the well spaced, very clean and well stocked bathrooms were a delightful surprise! I really enjoyed the Red course, fun wooded parts and some right by the water too. We will definitely be back to visit again.

This is one of our favorite parks to go. Love the boat ride there. You have to call before you go for boat reservation. Also good for a little picnic. The natural beauty is amazing. Lots of birds & ducks there. Very serine.

My family and I have really enjoyed all of our trips to codorus for summer time drive up camping. There is a lot to do with in the park, nice trails, and even some fishing spots. There is a fair amount of wild life for viewing and good bird watching as well.
It does get significantly crowded in the peak season and around the summer holidays, but overall rules are enforced and campers typically do not get rowdy. Like all campgrounds the experience depends on the site you pick. We are tenters so some visits were better than others due to site selection and neighbors. Definitely recommend the “roughing it” sites if you are a renter looking for a quiet more “authentic” experience.

The park is a very large and beautiful park with so many activities to do with yourself or family and friends. On this stay we rented a Yurt inside of the camp grounds. The Yurt was a neat experience, it's in between a tent and a cabin. Had a refrigerator, counter top stove and microwave. It also sleeps up to 5 people. Had an amazing time and will be back to stay again.

Great disc golf course, use Udisc to find your way around. Played the blue and red courses, both are fun in their own way. Only hole I didn't like was on the red course because it is basically an island in the middle of a parking lot. We played early right after Christmas so the lot was empty, which was good because I would have drilled a couple of cars otherwise. Would absolutely skip that hole on a busy day and would consider moving it since they had room elsewhere.

Beautiful park with nice hikes to and around the lake. Campsites are not particularly level, some are a little short for long campers. There are plenty of wheelchair accessible facilities and a pet loop at the campground.

I camped here for a night just the other day and it was very beautiful! I also did a lot of fishing and was able to catch lots of bass! It’s definitely a great spot to go fishing and the campsite was very clean when we got I got there. I would definitely recommend camping/fishing here!!

We stayed in tent only camping site near lake. Kids and family enjoy the camping and afternoon in water park. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to spend summer close to nature. It’s kids friendly camping site and lots to do and see.

This state park is really beautiful. The water is so clear. The day that I was there, it was extremely foggy out, making it difficult to see far across the lake. I plan to go back more times to fish and picnic with my wife.

Spent a weekend at Codorus State Park with my niece and her two kids. We could put up our tents on the land, rather than a pad, which was nice. Campsite was spacious enough that kids could play Frisbee and badminton. Bathhouse was clean enough. We found the playground on a short walk. We were in loop c. Didn't see the "fun police" as another reviewer claimed. Had a great time.

Stayed in site 88 and loved it. Very spacious. Friends and family were in surrounding sites, so we basically had the whole corner to ourselves. Flat and wide. Well shaded with tall trees, but little brambles and underbrush allowed plenty of space for tents. Bathhouse was well maintained and heated. Only stayed for a weekend and spent that time relaxing at camp (just the way I like it), so did not get to explore the rest of the park more unfortunately.

Great park with plenty to do. Tons of disc golf and water for the kids to play. Kayaking, boat rentals are avaliable.
Very beautiful park. I am upset they really don't have a good playground for the kids... or at least we couldn't find one.

Only visited the park office. Nice displays and helpful info. Nice people available to answer questions. The lake is beautiful. The campground was closed at the time of our visit, and that's what we were hoping to check out, but based on what we saw in general makes it very likely we will return.

Wife and I kayaked here yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous! There are a lot of places to put in at the lake. The water was nice and there was a breeze. I also did some fishing. If you use the right tackle, you could catch a good bit of fish. Fyi: Being that it is a big lake, it was a little choppy, so be prepared if you venture into the deeper parts. If you kayak the edges, you should have a smoother ride. This is definitely on our top spots to kayak and for me to fish. Highly recommend.
