A beautiful volcanic landscape with a stone waterfall that has resisted thousands of years of erosion, is definitely worth a visit. Don't forget outdoor shoes, they will pay off even just for the few hundred yards from the parking lot to the waterfall.

Really cool place easy hike only about half a mile off the parking area.
J. Alberto Ponce — Google review
Really cool and small area to check out when passing by. The drive in is easy as well as the short hike to see fossil falls from the top. Actually walking down into the falls area shows you how unique the rock formations are. Bring a pen with you if you’d like to leave your name in the box at the start of the trail. Once you park it’s only a .21 mile hike.

Very cool place to wander around, found tons of obsidian! Nice camp spots, but it can get a little windy

Don’t blink because you might miss the exit to this really great hike! I’ve passed by fossil falls several times and I’m so glad I stopped. This geological wonder it’s great to explore and take pictures. The hike is really short and it’s perfect to stretch your legs.

Cool hot place to Boondock in late September. Unfortunately the smoke made for some very unhealthy breathing conditions during my stay, but still worth the trip dude!!!

Make sure your pets paws are protected! Beautiful walk and the views are awesome

Amazing area surrounded by mountains, walking trails, and a great view of fossil falls. It's really worth the drive out here. Oh, and there are restrooms out here next to the parking lot.

We enjoyed the short hike to the old falls. Lots to see there. The road is right off 395. It's a dirt road to get to the Trailhead. The parking lot is pretty small and there's a vault restroom. The hike is really short and easy. Worth a visit! But better to go when it's cooler.

Very interesting Geologic features make this a very cool hike. I would Highly recommend it.

At the end of the last ice age, the Owens river was a raging torrent and carved a waterfall and chasm in some very hard basalt. It is now dry as the Owens river follows a different course, hence it is a "fossil" fall. Great scenery, small campground and day use area. Due to all the basalt boulders and rocks, the short trail is very rough and is not suitable for very young children, disabled and frail elderly. Watch out for rattlesnakes! Almost stepped on one and it rattled and then made it's escape. We visited in spring, lots of greenery and flowers. Very hot in summer, snowed in during winter.

Bunch of ancient lava everywhere, there's obsidian all over the ground. There's also a small red extinct volcano near by. Hiking down the lava tubes was real fun . I also saw some native American pictographs in one of the lava tube chambers.
German Salgado — Google review
Worth the visit. Not much of a "hike" as it is less than .25 mile. Trail leads you to the top of a dried up waterfall carved out of lava rocks. Very interesting to see.

10 years ago Fossil Falls used to be a great place to come and explore and hike around. Way too many people now. So crowded you can't park. Wish it hadn't gotten so popular.
The Racetrack is a surreal desert basin where wind-propelled rocks leave tracks after rainfall. Accessible after a challenging 27-mile drive (one way), the location lacks any facilities or rest stops. The journey, recommended for high-clearance vehicles only, ends at a peaceful and unique spot with only a few scattered rocks to be found by continuing southward. The striking beauty of this place overshadows its treacherous 22-mile road made of sand and rocks with no asphalt in sight.
Gorgeous place with a horrible 22miles of road. No asphalt, only rocks and sand! You can go fast as 5 or 10 miles per hour. Please see pictures to check if your car will be able to drive there. High clearance 4x4 cars very recommended .
Yevgeniya Parchelli — Google review
After hearing about the place, we planned to go during our Death Valley trip.
It’s a 27 miles, which will take 1h30 to go. (One way). There is not place to rest or restrooms.
The drive is pretty hard, only recommend for high clearance vehicles.
But the drive is worth it. The spot is so peaceful, so quiet and so unique. If you want to see the rocks, you have to continue to the south entrance.
There are only few rocks. Don’t imagine you will see hundreds of rocks.
Marie-Anne Dannequin — Google review
Don't bother. The road in is 27 miles long and it is over some of the most godforsaken roads on earth. There are only a few stones that you can see that have moved so the bone jarring 54 mile road trip drive is just not worth it. Oh, and most of the teakettles are gone from teakettle junction.
David Aherron — Google review
One of our favorite spots in our Death Valley trip. We had a Jeep to get us down the long road but definetly worth it. The sailing rocks were down closer to the furtherest parking lot. We packed a lunch and walked out in the flat areas. A beautiful landscape.
Laura James — Google review
Must have a jeep type vehicle to get there and still have to drive like 15mph. Definitely worth making the trip just make sure to plan well regarding food, water, and gas. No cell phone service. Its very beautiful and you can see the paths where the rocks have moved. The science behind it all is explained on the education posters at the site and its really interesting to learn about. Photography here is fantastic.
Marjan Ghadrdan — Google review
One of my favorite places at Death Valley in California, the way to get there is only for adventurers since is all full of rocks and sand, but it’s worth it.
Mariana Cantú Dosal — Google review
Its really cool here, I just wish people would stay off of it with their vehicles. Came here a few years ago and we could see the trails some of the rocks took. This time there was lots of tire tracks, foot prints, and you coukd tell people had picked up the rocks and moved them around.
Steve Schutt — Google review
It’s a long washboard dirt road, but worth checking out the Playa if you want to see a remote part of Death Valley.

With a height of 80 feet, Darwin Falls is the highest waterfall in Death Valley National Park. It is accessible via a hike and its lush canyon vegetation is said to add to the adventurous feel of the hike.
Darwin Falls in Death Valley National Park is an incredible place to visit. I went in November of 2022 after the heavy rain storms and it was fantastic. Seeing an oasis with a rushing waterfall and creek in a dry desert was amazing. The hike was maybe a mile or so long from the parking area and was a little wet and muddy due to the recent heavy rains but well worth it. Highly recommend if visiting Death Valley.
Brendan Kiely — Google review
Nice short hike. The main problem is the ~2 miles of terrible road to the trailhead. The trail itself is easy but muddy and requires jumping over shallow streams, hence it might be infeasible for people with disabilities. The falls are not as beautiful as death valley's main attractions, so you should stop here only if you are staying in the area for multiple days.
Leno — Google review
Fantastic trail, wonderful scenery at the end. We had it all to ourselves, too!
Qadgop the Mercotan — Google review
Must drive through gravel and bumpy road. Any car is fine for the road but must drive slowly to get to the trailhead. On the trail, have to cross over small streams. The trail becomes muddy in the winter and some rocks can be slick and slippery. My left foot has slipped and landed in the stream.
Then have to climb over some rocks to see the waterfall. Don’t expect to see some grand waterfall like Nevada/vernal falls. This is not a big waterfall and I would not have expected it in a place like Death Valley so it is impressive in a way.
Glow — Google review
Darwin Falls is a 18-foot spring-fed waterfall in the western part of Death Valley National Park near Panamint Springs. The access road from CA-190 is a rough gravel road and best with high clearance. From the small trailhead, the trail leads up Darwin Wash. Initially, the hike is through desert and doesn't seem like there should be a waterfall. About a half-mile into the hike, there will be a little bit of water and start to see more vegetation. Soon, there are willow trees and a flowing stream. The trail ends at the scenic little waterfall that flows year round. The spray from the falls allows ferns and other greenery to grow all around the falls and makes a beautiful oasis. We really enjoyed this hike and it was very unique to hike to a lush oasis in Death Valley.
Justin P — Google review
I drove 3.5 hours to check out Darwin Falls. When I got to the turn off the road was completely gone. I assume from the rains earlier in the year. It would have been nice if there were some signs along thus highway saying thus area is closed. Don't go there! You will not be able to access the road.
Chris Helvie — Google review
Unexpected, year round waterfall in Death Valley. Easy, level hike, about 1.5 miles with quite a lot of shade. However, there has been a rockfall close to the waterfall blocking the path. The waterfall is only accessible via a serious scramble over the rocks and is not possible for folks with limited mobility.
David Hoare — Google review
Hidden gem in the middle of the desert. Such a surreal and stunning place! Takes quite a while to get there (the 2mi road took us >30 min due to its condition) but it's so much worth it! Since this is an important ecosystem for the animals around, please treat it with respect and care!
Sarah — Google review
The falls at the end of the trail are awesome. However, for the adventurous a bit of rock climbing will take you to the upper falls which are spectacular.
George — Google review
The fall isn't too big but still worth the hike there. It's a mile hike, can be tricky depending on the route you take
Walter Scotty's Castle is a bizarre, yet beautiful, manmade attraction in Death Valley National Park. It was built by a con artist named Walter Scott, who deceived several wealthy investors out of their money by claiming he had found gold on the property. The architecture and grounds of the castle are worth an hour of your time if you're in the area, and photography inside the house is prohibited.
Scotties Castle and Death Valley was the highlight of one of our first major camping trips. Scotties Castle was totally amazing and the stories that were told were even better. The waterfall in the living room was something else and real did cool things off without the need for A/C. Sorry to see it closed. We drove 200 miles out of our way to see Death Valley and it was totally worth it.
Lee K — Google review
Currently closed. Scotty's castle is a beautiful desert castle with a ton of interesting history. Located in Death Valley this property has two large swimming pools, a power generation station and a large underground tunnel. Definitely worth the drive when the remodel is complete.
Maggie Mynier — Google review
Great preview tour! The tour guide seemed to have some of her Scotty facts wrong, but other than that it was a wonderful time. Had the whole place to ourselves (the group was limited to 10 people).
Supposedly the highway and Castle will reopen in April 2023 once construction of the visitor center is done and the ranch's possessions are moved back from storage.
The highway is completed, but has not reopened because, according to the tour guide, the construction workers don't want to deal with would be tourists trying to get on premises while the castle is closed and they're working. 🤷♀️

Wow !!!! I love this place! Talk about an oasis. This was no mirage and what a great brunch

I haven’t been in a couple of decades (very much pre Covid) but I really enjoyed the tour and discovering this really cool place in Death Valley. I hope after Covid they still give tours … it was mighty impressive back in the day …

Don't get sucked into driving the Scottys Castle Road, only to find that both the ROAD as well as the castle are closed. NPS has not marked this well.
Maybe to justify the existance of the Northern office. There were a number of vehicles making this mistake.
Mike Long — Google review
I was lucky enough to get the rare opportunity to tour of the castle. It was close down a few years ago after a flood damaged much of the property. This castle he’s a true treasure. It was built on one of the biggest lies told in death Valley. I ConMan name Death Valley Scotty Created a fake gold mine and took investors money. One of the investors became friends with Scotty despite being cheated out of money. The investor ended up building this castle. If you wanna see the YouTube video I made look me up Bartell’s Backroads

Its amazing to have so much detail in the middle of the desert.
The Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel is a private resort with 83 rooms which are draped in quality linens and accented with cheerful Native Americanpatterned blankets. It has striking views of sand dunes and opened in 1926.
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel. A basic room but we had everything that we needed. Itbwas a decent room, clean. The location of the hotel is great. We had a good time at their restaurant too for dinner and breakfast. There is no microwave though but that was okay because we didn't need one. The hotel is very close to the mesquite dunes and that was a positive.
The staff was very helpful every time we had something. The restaurant also had a breakfast buffet option for about 13 dollars a person with a fairly decent menu.
I would stay here again if I visit Death Valley.

We arrived late at night, staff were friendly and helped with a smooth check in. The room had a Dunes view, was large with two queen beds. The room itself was clean, but the shower area was not (hair etc). The breakfast the next day was managed in a v covid friendly manner, spaced out seating and was not crowded. Food options good considering how far this place is from the nearest town/city. Dinner is a nightmare - it is packed. We ended up getting food to eat in our rooms as part of the last service for the kitchen before they closed. Overall, a good place to stay - much much quieter than the other two lodging options (which we did check out during our stay).
K — Google review
Room was pretty basic. It forces you to be there just to sleep. & no microwave was such a bummer. The walls are pretty thin so outside noise could keep you up if you are a light sleeper.
They said the pool is ‘heated’ but it was pretty cold so couldn’t use it.
Location is pretty good. Just 5 minutes away from the sand dunes.
General store just across the road was convenient.
Restaurant food was really good. Breakfast buffet is available for $9.50 per person. It’s decent but dinner is way better.
Overall pretty happy with the stay

Inexpensive motel in Death Valley. The rooms are on the small side but functional. It was nice to have a restaurant and bar on site. We came in the summer so we couldn't explore everything they had, like the pool and outdoor seating.
Laura Blankenship — Google review
This is a basic motel but with all the basic amenities you’ll need when exploring your national park. There’s a restaurant, a bar, gasoline, and a general store here all of which is convenient since no comparable infrastructure exists within 20 miles. And it’s a slice of history.
Andrew Wang — Google review
Great spot to stay when visiting Death Valley! More of a motel style but recently updated rooms and has restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, general store across the street with gas, and bar on site. Beds were very comfortable, great water pressure, mini fridges and even though they are wall units, very sufficient AC! Hotel is excellent location: 3 minute drive from Masquite Sand Dunes, 5 minutes from Mosaic canyon, small ranger station across the street and about 30 minutes to Furnace Creek which is center of the park! Would highly recommend staying here!
Claire Audette-Bauman — Google review
This place is a hidden gem, it has old style charm. Our room was spacious and clean. It had all the necessities. Nothing like opening your door in the morning and see the sunrise and vastness of Death Valley. The staff are top notch, from registration, saloon, restaurant to gift shop, all are super friendly and helpful.
Sue Poon — Google review
Everyone we interacted with here was great. From the two guys I talked to (I can only remember Ramon's name) cleaning the rooms to the servers at the restaurant and bartender. Helpful and exceedingly nice. Rooms are basic and could definitely use a microwave but as clean as they could be and the overall location is great for a home base in the park.
J R — Google review
Good overall. I found the service completely amazing but I guess it depends on who you get at the front desk. I understand other people here had horrible service. The person who checked me and was extremely helpful offered lots of advice and even held a great conversation and was funny. It almost got five stars until one night... the first night, I found three crickets chirping in my bathroom. It was a ferocious battle, but in the end I was victorious. I guess it's better than a black widow or a scorpion or a bigger animal but it was enough to shake me. Given that other people have found critters in their room I even made sure to check it out when I first got here but I must have missed them. As far as food, we had read other people's reviews. We came from LA so we stopped at Bud and Grandma's. We knew that their lunch sandwiches and most of their pastries would last into the next day. We also grabbed a sack of McDonald's for the kid. The second day and night we did eat on premises though. Not sure I would have liked doing that two days or more in a row though.
Matt Grace — Google review
location convenient to sand dunes, trails, and other attractions; room was satisfactory, bed was fairly comfortable, no wifi in the room; staff was very polite and helpful except for an evening where there were a group of individuals in the courtyard playing music and being very loud past quiet hours - we called the front desk twice and in both cases indicated they would speak with them but did not, resulted in disrupted night of sleep
Robert Tolley — Google review
This was my first visit to Death Valley and Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel. My room was very basic and perfectly clean, no critters thankfully my whole stay. The bathroom was nice and clean too. Refrigerator but no microwave. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay.
The general store doesn't have much prepared food so bring your own snacks and food if you'll be here a few days. The only restaurant open is serving buffet style breakfast for $10/person and $25 dinner/person. It's meat heavy, not many vegetarian options but well cooked and was quite good.
Gas here is $1 cheaper than Furnace Creek.
Every person I interacted with was friendly and helpful so service was excellent for me and I really appreciate the employees that work so hard to maintain this motel. Overall this motel provided everything I needed and I'll stay here again if I'm ever in Death Valley again.
Rana Sabeh — Google review
What a wonderful, delightful surprise this little hotel/village was! The location is fantastic with great views of the mountains and dunes, which made for some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The food in the restaurant was delicious and hats off to the chef for the great vegetarian options! The saloon was fun, warm and inviting. Say hello to Violet and Paul, who will both give you great service with a smile (make Violet laugh if you can . . . it's contagious!). The front desk staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. A special thank you to Dillon for being such a great host and giving great hiking tips!
Dawn Duggan — Google review
Not cheap - it is in the national park after all. Rooms are fairly basic, with a small fridge. Nothing fancy but I love the place because it is in the middle of the desert; you can just walk out your door into the wild. The stars are awesome at night, and they have good non-glare exterior lighting. Coffee maker in the rooms and they usually give you bottles of water if you ask. Housekeeping is hit or miss with a multiday stay but if you ask you can get whatever you need. I'm not a big fan of the on-site restaurant but you don't have any choice unless you bring your own food (but you can't cook in the rooms). Don't count on the "general store" across the street at the gas station - it has mostly become a souvenir shop. Wifi? Ha, a joke, very very slow and only in the lobby. Cell service works but again the network is heavily loaded and tends to get bogged down. Spend your time, instead, out on the dunes or in wilder places in Death Valley. Gas is much cheaper here than at Furnace Creek.
Chris Schmandt — Google review
This is the only hotel in this part of the park, and it is not run by the National Parks Service. Furnace Creek, just 30 minutes away, looked to be in much better condition as well as better managed.
Service at Stovepipe Wells was definitely lacking during our stay, and the rooms are pretty basic. For example, we had only one blanket for the bed, even though it was dipping into the 40’s at night. When I called the front desk to ask for another blanket, I was told that housekeeping would bring one. We had to seek out the housekeeper ourselves to get another blanket. The corner chair in our room was too broken to sit on. When I made the front desk aware of it, the clerk just said that it was housekeeping’s job to review the furniture, and no one had let management know. When taking a shower, there was a 5 minute hourglass timer to remind you that you are in the desert. It took half of that time for the water to heat up enough to jump in.
Sorry to say, I will stay at Furnace Creek next time.
Carolyn Kohler — Google review
Beautiful place to visit. Limited menu in the bar. Had a power outage (planned) during the stay and it ran about three hours late meaning no food service. Good thing I had some snacks with me. I would go again even though the rooms are horribly over priced. You can do that when you are there only game in town.

Great, and only, place to stay for miles to give a person the chance to experioence the wonder of Death Valley.
The rooms and restsaurant are a great way to relax and cool off after a day in the desert.
The staff are fabulous and treat you like they've known you for years.
John Myers — Google review
This was our third stay here. The facilities are clean but don’t expect a 4 star resort. It’s solid and it does the trick. With the general store across the highway and the Saloon next door, one has everything they need to stay and is a great location to park hop.
Unfortunately they were plagued with some issues while we were there but the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and even reimbursed our stay as the water and plumbing was plugged in the row of accommodations which was inconvenient. The wifi also didn’t work but you could go to the admin or pub to get access.
So very pleased with the service and of course would go back.
If your squeamish for bugs, don’t recommend. There were dozens of crickets inside the room that we had to catch and release. Part of the charm and being rustic.
Jason V. — Google review
A sad place with uncomfortable beds, unfriendly service and paper thin walls. The restaurant's dinner buffet looked inedible (so we skipped it on favor of pre made sandwiches from the general store) and the service was surly. Breakfast, on the other hand, was surprisingly good and the service cheerful and excellent.
James Higgins — Google review
You're paying for the location, not the quality. It's hard because this is such a good location and much cheaper than the other option, which is a pricey resort. If you don't mind an average quality room, minimal options for food and entertainment, and no phone service, this is great. Good for someone who is just needing a bed, but not needing an "experience". It was good for us - we were here to hike the sand dunes nearby at night, and have easy access to Death Valley, biking, and Mosaic Canyon. You can't go wrong if that's what you want. But one of our rooms smelled like spoiled milk and the 2 restaurants in town close at 8pm (last seating 7:45pm), so you need to time things right and be prepared for the worst.... pics are of the nighttime hike and the Mosaic Canyon hike.
Grace R-L — Google review
This place is really beautiful. It’s like an oasis in the middle of the desert with a cowboy style.
I stayed a night during a road trip and it was perfect, clean with all the facilities you need.
The restaurant is reaaaally good and prices are really ok compared to Vegas where we were before.
I recommend 10/10
Vincent Balac — Google review
We stayed at the Stovepipe Wells as it’s one of the only hotels inside/close to the valley. Given the location, it’s really expensive for the services it offers. Although they have a buffet breakfast you need to pay on top, which given the price of the room and offer this should be included.
The rooms are very basic and as soon as we opened the door there was a strong smell of smelly feet that, even though we left the door open for some time, the smell wouldn’t go.
The heater is really old so when it’s switched on it is really, really noisy.
However, the size of the room was reasonable, the staff is kind and they do a fire at night which is nice.
Maria do Carmo Guedes — Google review
I just spent a week there, and although the hotel rooms were okay, the wait staff is extremely rude. Rude. I guess they feel they can behave that way because they have you trapped being one of the only restaurants and hotels in the area. After 2 days we packed our bags and went to the more expensive hotel where the right staff was a little better thankfully, but certainly need a lot of education on customer service. At the stovepipe I would never go there again! I don't know who was worse. The grouchy sarcastic older woman in the morning are the old man at night who put some gross thing in our salad and then tried to tell us it was parchment paper. Clearly it was not parchment paper but looking like a used nap cloth. The dining experience needs a lot of work and the wait staff needs to be replaced with real customer service. Weight staff. Did not want to leave them a tip at all. And I am the type of person who overtips, so that tells you that they must have been really bad to not get a tip from me whatsoever.. stay away

My stay at Stovepipe Wells Village Hotel, nestled in the heart of nature and operated by the National Park Service, was unexpectedly delightful. Despite its remote location, the customer service and hospitality were exceptional, both at the hotel and its onsite restaurant. The rooms, while modest and equipped with just the basics, offered a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. For those looking for an authentic escape without the frills but with heart, this is the place.

Death Valley National Park, 51880 Highway 190, 51880 CA-190, Death Valley, CA 92328, USA
Ballarat, located in Inyo County, CA, has a rich history as a mining town dating back to 1896. However, the town saw a decline in residents by 1905 due to the depletion of precious metals. Despite its remote and somewhat desolate appearance, visitors are drawn to its intriguing charm. The general store holds an array of memorabilia and photos that offer a glimpse into the town's past.
Excellent place to grab a drink from the cooler and rest for a bit after crossing Death Valley via Butte Valley, Mengel Pass, and Goler Wash.

Right off the road 3 miles in on ballarat road is the ghost town of ballarat. They have a campground there for 5 bucks a nite suggested price. The first 1.5 miles is rough but the last 1.5 miles is smoother. Down the road is surprise canyon which is very rough.

Cool place to stop by on a trip up to death valley. There are only a few buildings but there's a nice gift shop and an old jail building

We stopped here after seeing this ghost town on Google Maps, the road is a little shaky but any car can make it, just take it slow, the guy at the visitor center has a lot of information about the town and is very friendly. Don't forget to grab a t-shirt from their store and leave your dues per car. On the way back to the main road we got to see some jets flying over very cool.

Visited in April 2015. Ballarat was founded in 1897 and served as a vital supply point for nearby mines. During its peak from 1897 to 1905, it had 400 to 500 residents, saloons, hotels, and more. However, the town declined after mines closed. Ballarat was home to Seldom Seen Slim (Charles Ferge), who lived there from approximately 1918 until his death in 1968. Slim was known for his eccentric lifestyle, claiming not to have bathed in twenty years except for sloshing water on his naked body while standing outdoors. He resided in a Volkswagen and a house trailer after the town’s last adobe building became uninhabitable. Slim’s final resting place was Ballarat’s boot hill, where he famously said, “Just bury me where the digging’s easy.”

Ballarat is a cool.older ghost town located on the Western South side of Death Valley National Park. It is located about 2-3 miles down a dirt road off of the main road in a vast valley. There are great views of the surrounding mountain ranges, a few historic structures which are slowly eroding, and some old machinery and vehicles. Cool place if you like ghost towns and there is one resident that lives here as well.

I stopped in there about seven years ago. No one around except the gentleman in the store. They said they had the coldest beer in town, so I bought one. It wasn't cold, but they didn't lie, it was the coldest beer in town. I love unspoiled ghost towns, and this one fits the bill. I used to go with my dad in the 1950s to his mines south of Death Valley. I always loved going through these old areas. This place brought back some great memories.

This is a private destination so leaving a donation to support the location is very polite. The ghost town has a camping area and a basic outhouse (much improved from some years ago). There is limited reason to visit here unless you are launching into the Panamint Mountains to the East for hiking and 4 wheeling.

This place is a real trip. We drove in and nary a person in sight. The wife wanted a bathroom, and there was a sign directing her there. Given the location and the general decrepitude of the place, it was with some trepidation that she headed to the back of the general store. In the meantime I went up to the door of the store which was unlit and empty of people, and was shocked to find that it was unlocked. So I went in, and found a most interesting place. Lots of junk, memorabilia, and photos. On the store sat a jar with some money in it and a sign that requested donations. Suggested $2.00 per car. On a counter top was another jar to put money in for cold drinks. I opened the cooler and took not of the fact that it had sodas and beer in it. They were all sitting in warm water. I think there was a sign with prices for the drinks. Still no human presence. Moving into a little alcove off of the main room, there was a rack with tee shirts and sweat shirts with the Ballarat name on them. Also with a jar for payment. And, then there was a little cabinet with all manner of nostrums that a traveler might need. Aspirin, sun block, etc.
The wife returned with a bathroom report and said it was pretty clean. And, like everywhere else, they requested a donation for its use, which seemed quite reasonable given the location----miles from anything.
Eventually a fellow did appear who was quite friendly and claimed to be a part owner of the town. He answered our questions and told us some history. An interesting experience to say the least.

A must-stop location if you're passing through Panamint Valley. Very friendly Liz is there to answer questions. The store is stocked with simple snacks and cold drinks, along with t-shirts, maps decals, and other souvenirs from your visit. A clean restroom is available 24/7.

This place is neat. Needs some restoration yet, however, more visitors would help that. They have camping, showers, and restrooms. They request a tip to use facilities which is completely reasonable. The Mason truck is cool. Cool history. Check it out.
Mosaic Canyon Trail is a 4-mile in-and-out hike located west of Stovepipe Wells Village. The trail begins with a 0.25-mile stretch leading to dramatically narrow canyon slots, showcasing polished marble walls carved from 750 million-year-old rocks. While the first half of the hike is family-friendly and features beautifully smooth canyons, it becomes more challenging as it progresses uphill and opens up to wide sandy-walled canyons.
A great hike. 4 miles round trip.
Brian Holle — Google review
A pretty neat hike. About halfway through, you'll need to do some minor bouldering. If it appears like the path is blocked, just follow the arrows made of rocks. They'll point you in the direction of a detour
Jeffrey V — Google review
Easy trail to see the narrow part of the canyon. Don't have to do the full 2.5 mile
Charles Shah — Google review
Easy, family friendly, but high trafficed hike up beautifully smooth canyon for first section then opens up to wide sandy walled canyon. Would recommend to start early as the canyon gets direct sun after 10am or would actually be cool spot to watch sunset as well. While hike is 1.7 miles one way until the canyon dead ends, only interesting part is within the first 1/2 mile as this is where the marble like rock is narrowest. We finished hike at 9am and parking lot was already getting full.
Claire Audette-Bauman — Google review
Nice little hike. A few sunny (hot) sections even in the morning hours.

Visited during December 2021, a great season to visit Death Valley. The Mosaic Canyon trail was our pick for a couple hours' hike in the area before we moved on towards the scenic viewpoints of Zabiskie Point and Dante's View.
Thanks to AllTrails.com, I knew this trail had some rock scrambling somewhere in the 1.7 miles out and back. There was a canyon that opened up to some beautiful rock canyons, some looking smooth as marble, some looking like compacted soil on its way to being sedimentary rock, and flint rocks and thin, layered rock too. So colorful and when we did get to the rock scrambling areas, which were quite fun! We had to find small footholds or other ways around the areas, and saw few people there once we got past that area. I would say be prepared for some flexibility, we saw some hikers of all ages that turned back once you had to shimmy over the narrow areas, so be aware they are coming up.
Once through the scrambling areas in the narrow slot canyon, we hiked a bit more and missed a giant “-->” made of rocks on the ground in between two canyons to see where the next area was. Once you follow the arrow up, it leads around to a descent into a smaller canyon (with darker and darker rock/soil below our feet) until we saw an impassable 25 feet dryfall, with “ENDE” and “终点” spelled out there.
SUMMARY:
A cool hike, can't imagine doing it in other seasons as there are not many areas for cover or shade. Bring water and sunscreen and hats, and be prepared for rock scrambling and awesome geological formations!
Angela Chiang — Google review
Easy and beautiful trail inside the canyon. It combines sunny and shady parts.
Evgeny Semionov — Google review
The first half of this hike is five stars, the second is forgettable. It's a one-way hike so most people turn around after the canyon opens up and the marble ends. Bring a lot of water. The hike into the canyon is slowly going uphill. It's so slight that on other hikes you might not even notice it. However, in heat of over 90 degrees it seems exhausting!
Jennifer Cleary — Google review
Pretty awesome place. Not sure why anyone would give this less than 5 stars lol. Dirt road to get there. Not too rough and only about 2 miles to get to. Beautiful canyon and lots of colors and views.
John Nelson — Google review
A fine trail. We found the first narrows to be the most dramatic. You could stop there and do this “hike” in about 30 minutes.
Nicholas Jenson — Google review
Hands down the best place to visit and hike at Death Valley National Park. Loved it. Visit during March.
Juan Luis Gutierrez — Google review
Great little hike. Easy gravel trail with gentle incline. The first half mile is the best.
Capt. Norm — Google review
I enjoyed the Mosaic Canyon trail. It is easy to find near Stovepipe Wells off 190. Mosaic Canyon Rd is a relatively narrow gravel/rocky road. It is passable with a low clearance vehicle at reasonable speed. The parking lot is large but it fills up quickly. Like with most trails, if you want to avoid the crowds go early morning or late afternoon. The trail is a mixture of tight and wide canyon and requires some rock scrambling if you want to make it to the terminus. The geology along the trail is well worth the hike.
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are a great spot to photograph sand dunes and the surreal mountain rangers who live around them. The dunes shift form throughout the year, so there's always something new to photograph. It's also a great place to practice your composition skills.
Nice easy access sand dune. Much easier to climb then Kelsi Dunes. I think sunset is the best at this location with all the shadows band contrasts. However, if going for a sunset, leave early as the parking lot gets full and several people are already claiming spots atop dunes to view the sunset.
Ryan Larson — Google review
Was an awesome hike and would wander through the area again. Highly recommend getting there early to avoid crowds and some of the heat as well as provide better photography opportunities. Not a designated trail but sand dunes to walk as far as you want through. Climbing the steeper dunes and through the sand made it tough but great views and photos. Went in February and still got plenty hot, carry water if you’re going to be out in the sun.
Ryan Lewandowski — Google review
The sand dunes are so cool! If you come at different times, you can catch when the dust clouds cover up the mountains as if they were never there! Super neat spot to just look at or to hike around.
Sasha Voinov — Google review
The sand dunes are a far out, no service, wide open adventure. It has plenty of parking, no end to the views, tons of great photo ops, and beautifully fresh, clean air. Nighttime offers some of the absolute best views of the relaxing night sky, but daytime is where the excitement is! Have plenty of water and NEVER leave the road/trail-it is called Death Valley for a reason! I've seen people go down (down the hills and down on their face) using skim boards, boogie boards, surf boards, trash bags, snow sleds, skis-just anything and everything they can think of! It's a fun spot to take the family and watch everyone else having fun while I relax under my umbrella (there is NO shade).
Jen Bayarena — Google review
A great experience. Glad we didn't pass this one by. Unique spot in the middle of Death Valley. No place like it. Prepare yourself if you want to hike out to any of the peaks. Sand is really hard to walk in and there aren't really any short cuts. Visited in December and we were still somehow sweating with 70 degree weather. Make sure you bring water and snacks if you're spending time out in the dunes. Some of the sand is magnetic. Make sure you protect your phone and cameras. Bathrooms are available in the parking lot. Plenty of parking space.
N'Dozie Matingou — Google review
Another incredible thing to visit within Death Valley National Park! Visit in a cooler month so you can experience a hike across the sand dunes. We hiked to the tallest dune, which took 45 mins to get there and 45 back (lots of photo stops along the way). There’s no set trail, so enjoy creating your own adventure. Crowds get thinner the further away from the parking lot you get. Bring plenty of water and a snack. No entry fee for the sand dunes, but you pay to access the National Park.
Christopher Smee — Google review
One of the must sees in Death Valley. Need to walk though sands to the sand dunes so is not handicap friendly. Very nice view.
yung-chin Chen — Google review
You're able to hike wherever you'd like in these dunes- there's no specific trail. Come early as the sand already gets toasty even on a spring day. This place feels out of this world!
Brianna Harte — Google review
Very fun place for kids and adults to explore 4 different varieties of sand dunes all in close proximity. Would recommend coming an hour or two before sunset, exploring/playing on the dunes and then watching sunset there. Also one of the best places in the park to star gaze about an hour and a half after sunset. On a clear night, you can see milkyway!
Claire Audette-Bauman — Google review
One of the good places to see sunset and the night sky in the Death Valley. Small parking lot so we had to park at the shoulder area.
Hiking in sand is good for burning off some calories. The lower one was easy to get to. For some higher ones was moderately challenging for some but the view is awesome.
Some people brought along their boogie board. So much fun you can do in the sand dunes area.
Did I mention that Star War was filmed here too.
teadrinkerxyz — Google review
This was one of my favorite points of interest in the Death Valley. The landscape is very nice with the sand dunes and desert plants. You can take very good pictures here. But prepare yourself to sweat!
Carlos Marti — Google review
The Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are stunning!! The soft, fine sand makes for a different walking experience than other parts of the desert where the ground is more solid. You don’t have to walk far into the Dunes to appreciate the view, but walking in further allows you to feel transported to another world.
If you go during the day, you are treated to colors of creams and off white from the dunes complemented by the browns of the mountains. We went during sunset, and being in the dunes at that times gives you a beautiful view of pink coloration against the mountains. You can explore the dunes, themselves, and on lower levels you can also see mudflats. While everything here looks “the same”, it is wild to walk around and let yourself get immersed.
Fun Fact: For Star Wars fans, this is one of the many filming locations from “A New Hope”.
Note on time: We entered the park from the East and moved our way west making our way to the Dunes for sunset. It seemed easier to exit west and get to the 5 freeway from that end. It was about 60-70 miles mostly uphill. Given the dark atmosphere and my Prius struggling to go uphill that long, it took us about 2 hours just to get out of the park. Be aware of your car’s capabilities, account for timing, and be safe when exiting should you visit the Dunes close to sunset.
AJ Ham — Google review
The Sand Dunes were absolutely gorgeous. The sand was very silky. This place is great for kids , because lots of fun to do, like rolling, building sand castles, and collecting sand stones. The views were spectacular. It was great for pictures too. If you like to paint sceneries this is a great place to visit. Don’t worry if your kids roll in the sand or bury their feet in the sand because the sand is very soft and it rolls of very easily. The best thing we enjoyed was collecting sand stones.
Vipila Bathvar — Google review
It's a mesmerizing viewpoint. If you want to burn off some calories, this is your place. It will take you great effort walking these sand dunes. I found this place more fascinating from afar in the late afternoon, where the sand dunes cast more shadows.
John Hannan — Google review
Incredible sand dunes! I recommend walking deep into the area as you’ll see incredible sand dunes not visible from the parking area. They are also very fun to climb. I highly recommend. I also saw a fighter jet roaming the area.
Christopher Chamberland — Google review
Another great sight in Death Valley. Sand dunes make you feel like you’re really in a desert. There is a small car park with a short walk to the dunes.
Andrew Howells — Google review
I love this spot in Death Valley National Park. I don't so much love the hike up and down the dunes to get to a spot without footprints or people but I do it. The lines and textures are incredible in the changing light, especially at sunrise or sunset. Be careful if you go out to not lose your direction. It would be terrible to get lost out there on a hot day.
Melissa Jones — Google review
Really cool place to visit and hike in Death Valley. You're surrounded by mountains, rocks, and salt. Then there is these sand dunes. Really cool and great place for sunsets. Parking can get full quick.

The Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are a beautiful set of dunes in the midst of one of the harshest places on Earth! Some of them can even reach 100 feet high! If you’re driving to Death Valley and heading to Furnace Creek or Badwater Basin, this is an absolute must-visit earlier on your drive. If you visit in winter, it’s really nice and pretty cool (might even need a jacket like we did) - in summer, it’s a completely different story. The sand is ridiculously hot, so you need to wear proper footwear so you don’t burn yourself. Wear lots of sunscreen in summer, being a lot of water, and have fun! Be sure to walk a decent ways off the road for the biggest dunes and best views. You may even see military fighter jets flying over you as a base is nearby! There is a decent amount of parking off the main road but it does get fairly busy so don’t be too surprised if you have to wait a few minutes for a space to open up, especially in the peak season for the park. I would highly recommend visiting this place though; it’s very cool!

Absolutely surreal!! We walked through the dunes during a sandstorm and the landscape is just otherworldly. Definitely pack long pants and sunglasses, the sand can be painful. Sand will also provide endless entertainment to children of any age. Had trouble dragging a pair of 21 y/os away.
Joy Liu — Google review
Outstanding and easy to access (close to Furnace Creek & Stovepipe Wells) dunes. Unfortunately, that also makes it a very popular spot!
If you have kids, they’ll love romping and rolling down the dunes. Be sure to bring some boards or toboggans to slide down for extra fun.
Sunset/sunrise will literally paint the mountains red and full of color if you’re looking for a nice scenic view!
John Lieu — Google review
Just an amazing spot but really popular and crowded but here is a tip to avoid crowd...
We were camping at Stovepipe Wells Village and decided to walk directly (in straight line) to the Dunes! Stopped by the Rangers Office to ask if it was okay and no issue there.
So, it is fairly simple, it is a direct line from the Stovepipe wells General Store/campground. One could park there and the walk is about 1.5 miles (taking the road is 2.2 miles) and you actually arrive at the back end of the Dunes and can access the high ones easily. We were alone there while the main entrance was packed!
Kids had a blast rolling and jumping and surprinsgly, climbing those dunes were not that hard but a Ranger told me it was because of the rain they had received a few days ago. It hardened the sand, even better (and now I understand how R2D2 could "roll" on sand!)
Did not see any critters but a lot of traces of snakes, coyotes and other little creatures. All critters are noctural according to a Ranger.
We went there in mid-February, good shoes, sunscreen and plenty of water are a must. I can only imagine how crazy it can be in July/August when the temp is over 100...
Titus Canyon Road is a scenic route featuring a long, slender gorge with an unpaved pathway. It is surrounded by limestone formations, petroglyphs, and indigenous plant life. This area boasts dazzling views of the natural landscape and ancient rock art created by Native Americans. The canyon walls are tall and rugged, providing a unique experience for visitors who want to explore the beauty of the natural environment in this region.
Goldwell Open Air Museum is a unique and unconventional sculpture park located in the arid desert terrain near Rhyolite. Comprising of seven eccentric artworks created by Belgian artists since 1984, this outdoor museum offers visitors an unparalleled experience of art amidst nature. The museum also has a gift shop where you can buy quirky souvenirs to take back home. It's easily accessible from Las Vegas, just a two-hour drive through Beatty, NV.
This is a very good half day trip. 2 hr drive out of vegas right pass Beatty, NV. from the sculptures to the abandoned town walking distance up the road. As a bonus, we saw about 100 donkeys just roaming in the town of Beatty. So that was pretty cool to see.

We saw this on our map and decided to take a little side trip to see it. I had no idea the bottle house was here. I have heard of this place, and seen pictures of it, but seeing it in person was very cool. The art garden and the remains of Rhyolite were pretty cool as well. Definitely worth the side trip if you are not in a hurry.

Rhyolite is definitely a 'must see' on your way to Death Valley! Plan for an hour, maybe two. It's all free. The open air museum is beautiful and really creepy! 😳 Then the remains of Rhyolite is really interesting too.

It is a must stop if driving by. The desert art is strange and cool. No ghosts were seen as I was there. Just an abandoned town and dreams of making it rich gone bust..

Awesome desert art exhibit right next to Rhyolite on your wat to Beaty from Death Valley!
There is an information shack close to where you park about the area but I was more focused on exploring and taking pictures so I didn't stop in.
The art is very cool and much of it has info on it as to what it depicts be it quite worn in areas, and may be hard to read for some.
Definitely recommend!

While in Vegas, we did a full day trip to Death Valley. Along the
way out to the valley, we stopped at this ghost town. It wasnt too
far out of the way and its not everyday to see a original ghost
town!
Its cool to see the buildings still standing and in decent shape for
how old they are. I was surprised how many other cars where
driving thru besides us- guess its well known!
A few tips:
Expect horrible dusty and bumpy roads- always have a tire
replacement ready when in desert! Bring plenty water / snacks-
there isnt any gas stations in the area for ages so stock up on gas
as well. There are signs warning about rattle snakes so we didnt
climb or go in any buildings because thats where they hide! Enjoy
the scenery without risking your health!
My favorite spot was inside the tiny old wooden train- the colors
were mind blowing beautiful! So much history

If Art in the middle of the desert is on your things to see list come to Armagosa Valley right in front of Rhyolite ghost town and see the Goldwell open air museum. It began in 1984 with the last supper sculpture created by Albert Szukalski a Belgian artist. Filled by 6 more pieces by other European artists. There's the ghost rider, the lady desert : venus of Nevada, sit here, Icara, tribute to shorty Harris and more. Time of day definitely affects the pictures you get we shot for sunset ish and got some beautiful shots.

Fascinating collection of modern art next door to a "ghost town." Very eclectic but that is definitely part of its charm.

Today the little museum building was open: a first for us despite many, many visits. It's worth it as you learn a bit more about the initial artist and the foundation. Today we saw a new piece, a set of square arches ( oxymore?) I didn't find them interesting from a distance, but getting closer the perspective becomes very interesting.

Nice little free place to stop and see some art near Beatty/Death Valley.
Rhyolite is an abandoned town in Nevada that was once a prosperous mining community during the early 1900s. It can be found in the Bullfrog Hills, located approximately 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas and situated near the eastern boundary of Death Valley National Park. Although it had a population of around 8000 people during its heyday, only a few remnants remain today, including a three-story bank, jail and train station.
The Furnace Creek Visitors Center at Death Valley National Park is a great place to learn about the park's fascinating history, landscape, people and animals. There are exhibits here for children to explore and they can also earn their Junior Ranger badge. There is no food available but there are souvenirs on sale.
I think it’s place #1 you should go! So much good information. There is movie about Death Valley history every 30 minutes. There is screen with all trails and you can see on video what to expect))) there is museum inside too. Just go inside get your verification of annual pass, get some free information, MAP 🗺 and enjoy)))

Great informative visitor center! They also have an auditorium where they show a movie on Death Valley formations every half an hour or so. Google shows that the center is temporarily closed but it’s open. You can get maps from here as well as purchase any souvenirs from the gift shop area. There is absolutely no network availability in the park, so make sure you download the maps offline or get the NPS app that works in offline mode as well. Restrooms are available and there is plenty of parking on premises.

Good clean Visitor Center. Restrooms were clean and well-stocked. Film (in a beautiful air-conditioned theatre!) does a great job exploring the history, native people, and conservation efforts of the park. Small snacks and water available for purchase.
Don't forget to ask the ranger for your Junior Ranger Book!
Don't buy gas here unless it's an EMERGENCY. Go to Stovepipe Wells instead for $1 less per gallon!!

Easy to locate visitor center with a spread-out gift shop, questions counter, 3D interactive map, and educational area. National park stamp is in the exhibit area.
Outdoor parking has covered carports (great for sunny or wet times) and uncovered spots.
Restrooms are in a separate building with water fountains outside. The cooled water bottle fountain is down, unfortunately.
Note, if the outdoor fountains have barely any water pressure, head inside the Visitor Center. There are some water fountains indoors.
If you're heading inside, bring your park pass or America the Beautiful pass with you. You'll be able to get a park map, current seasonal guide (also available on website), and an orange paper parking pass.
On Saturday morning, the center is quite crowded with lots of visitors. The park pass purchasing machine outside is down.
We bought a postcard from the gift shop.

The hike to Golden Canyon Trailhead gives hikers a chance to explore the towering yellow badlands of Death Valley National Park. The trail is a popular destination for hikers, with its own parking lot and junction with the Red Cathedral Trail. The hike is a 3-mile out-and-back trip that leads to Red Cathedral.
It was a wonderful trail to hike. Seeing the film locations of Star Wars, looking at rock formations, and even looking at Death Valley below was breathtaking. The trail to Manly Beacon was difficult because of the steepness of the mountain. Also, some trail drops in the Gower Gulch were hard and easy to get up/down. Everything else was easy to traverse.

Beautiful sights all the way.

The Golden Canyon trek offers an exhilarating adventure amidst stunning landscapes. With spacious parking available, it's easy to begin the moderate hike towards Red Cathedral. From there, the trail extends to Zibraski Point, revealing breathtaking views that are truly out of this world. It's a must-do for anyone seeking natural beauty and a memorable hiking experience.

Did the golden canyon and lower gluch loop trail including red cathedral totalling about 8km in the end. Was quite tough in the heat despite it being January.
Fascinating terrain - you can really see where the ancient lakes and river beds were.
Would highly recommend badwater basin as well if you have time.
Good amount of parking out front of the trailhead as well
Ben Chrisp — Google review
An easy trail to reach Red Cathedral only 1,5mi/2,4km away.
If you are visiting in summer, it's better to start your walk soon as the temperature is high and the air is dry.
Take the appropriate quantity of water with you, then, contemplate this little canyon that isolates you from the rest of the world

Pretty easy hike with great scenery. If you go to the end of the red cathedral it gets very narrow and steep.

Good hiking for all levels. Really a new experience while hiking.

Definitely worth to go the extra mile to the Red Cathedral. Once there, go a little further up the path to the left and you will be rewarded with great views. If you have enough time, do the whole loop but you can skip Zabriskie's point, you have the best views during the hike.
A salt formation in the form of golf holes can be found south of Furnace Creek in Death Valley. The salt pan is quite an eerie sight and can be easily missed if youre not looking for it. With a few precautions, visitors can experience this amazing place.
You gotta stop here! It’s so cool to see this natural formation. The dirt road is well maintained and easy to get to.
We found the parking lot to have ole Thank you of parking.
There are no restrooms here.
Make sure to look closely

Devils Golf Course is a short drive from the Furnace Creek Area down Badwater Road and onto a rocky access road that leads to the middle of the salt flat. You can access Devils Golf Course in a car, but an SUV or off-road vehicle is preferable. The road stops at a small parking lot with enough room for about a dozen vehicles. There are no trails that take you further into the Golf Course, though none are needed. The views from this point are amazing. The Panamint Mountains tower over you and provide a fantastic backdrop to the eerie "golf course." There are no restrooms or water at this location. Dogs are allowed on leash, but not they are not recommended.

We went in late March 2024 to visit the lake which had been created by all of the rains. The lake extended for 5+ miles from north of this area to south of Badwater Basin. It was eerie to view the salt formations and the water rippling in the light wind in this normally arid area.

The road to get to this place can get bumpy. This is an unusual place not seen anywhere accessible in Death Valley. Salt crusted over the rock formations can be seen for miles.

Although the park does not list this place as one of the must sees, in my opinion this is definitely a must see. You are driving on a large salt flats with very interesting rock and salt formations.

A great spot to stop and check out briefly, with (like everywhere else in Death Valley) a unique terrain to explore. There are lots of great spots near hear as well, so worth checking out as passing through.

I was going to miss this out but really glad I didn’t. Looking in one direction the salt looked like a bed of snow. In the other there were rocks covered in salt that looked like loads of small stalagmites. An amazing sight.

Interesting place. If you were to play golf here you would surely lose your ball. Don't try it. It's not a golf course. It's really neat to see natural wonders in this world. Yes there's an explanation why the interesting features of this place occur. But to see it, and feel it with your hands is something unique. This is really neat. It's so flat, but so jagged, and it's rock hard! It appears that it would be like salt pillars, but they are rock hard! Careful if you walk around them, they are really sharp.

Such a great place to experience the salt flat and see the unique landscape of Death Valley
Cloudy Cowboy — Google review
Very unique place, once you walk a quarter of a mile from Badwater Road. You can see Telescope Peak and it's only approximately a 10 mile valley to cross to get to the mountain. It's salt for sure, not Borax like in the rest of Death Valley
Rolf Shmidt — Google review
Not as pretty as Badwater Basin, but still really enjoyed it. The soil is hard (with lots of crystals) and very uneven. Be careful when walking in the area as a slight fall could lead to injury. But definitely worth visiting!

Definitely worth a stop. The Devils Golf Course is easy to drive to and even though it is a bit of a bumpy ride, the road is well maintained. The formation is crazy and the history behind this place is great to read. It is the lowest place in the US. It was pretty warm in the beginning of May, so make sure to bring enough water, wear good shoes and maybe wear a hat.

Very unique place, love the silence. It’s nice to spent some time away from the busy life. We were here in December. Best time to see the Death Valley. Temperature is around 70 Fahrenheit. Dried salt flats gives this place a unique appearance.
Located in Beatty, Nevada, the Death Valley Nut & Candy Co is a spacious store that offers a wide range of packaged candies and nuts. It's a popular stop for travelers heading to Death Valley National Park. The store is often described as the biggest and best candy store in the state, with its castle-like exterior drawing visitors inside to discover an array of treats including sandwiches, coffee, ice cream, sodas, homemade jerkies, and more.
This is the perfect place to stop for gas and snacks between Reno and Las Vegas… it was incredibly clean and there are crazy amounts of snacks. It’s a very safe area as well and the gas area is well lit… I needed ice in a ziplock for an injury and the lady working scooped some in a bag for me at no charge - she was super friendly… highly recommend!

Amazing home made ice cream! You walk in the doors and can smell the heaven of fresh waffle cones! I got a scoop of mango and my husband had the pistachio both were amazing and full of nice chunks! To make our experience better the staff was fun to interact with and made us laugh. I was almost heart broken when my ice cream fell and hit the floor, but they were so kind about it and didn’t make me feel like a big dummy for it. Worth the stop just got the ice cream alone, and then there is ALL of the candy! (BRING CASH) they are cash only!

This is an excellent place to stop when travelling through Beatty CA. There's a Subway inside the store and gas station across from it. Lots of parking. Outdoor seating in front of store. Store is neat, clean and organized. Restrooms are neat and clean. The personnel is friendly and helpful. Zabriskie Point offers a stunning panoramic view of Death Valley's unique landscape, with its vibrant colors and surreal formations. The sunrise and sunset views are especially breathtaking, making it a must-visit for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike. However, keep in mind that the area can get extremely hot during the day, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen if you plan to explore. Overall, it's a mesmerizing destination that showcases the beauty and diversity of Death Valley National Park.

The most beautiful point in the Death With many geologically diverse landscape. You can also hike down to the valley below this view point. Beautiful view point in the Death Valley National Park. You can see the Marble Cake mountain which looks like, well a marble cake 🙂 It's best to visit around an hour before sunset so you can hike around the area before soaking in stunning views of the mountain. Make sure to wear proper hiking boots (not just sneakers) since the terrain can be grainy and slippy.

The viewing platform is easily reached by a wide, paved path and enclosed by a rock ledge that is at a great height for sitting down to enjoy all the views.

A great place to visit for sunset and sunrise in the Death Valley. If you want to come and catch sunrise, I would recommend arriving at least 30-40 minutes before sunrise as the parking lot is not large and fills up quickly. A good place to soak in the valley and the national park itself.

We woke early and took the short drive from The Ranch at Death Valley to Zabriskie Point. There’s a small car park, probs enough for 40 - 50 cars or so, we were there at 06:30 and people already parked up. A short climb to the view point and watch the magical sunrise. I could feel my life force meter recharging as the sun climbed into view. It’s a lovely a sunrise as you can expect to see anywhere on this planet.

Artists Palette is a dazzling rock formation in Death Valley National Park that is famous for its many colors. The best time to see it is in the evening when the sun hits the rocks just right to bring out their vibrant hues.
Artists Palette in Death Valley National Park has cool natural scenery. You drive this one-way stretch to the Palette. It’s an easy trip, gotta hit it up.
Jake Hewitt — Google review
My visit to Artist's Palette in Death Valley left me in absolute awe. This place is a geological masterpiece, and here's my take on it:
Vibrant Colors: The mineral deposits in the hills create a surreal, almost surreal landscape of colors. It's like nature got creative with a paintbrush.
Best Time to Visit: Late afternoon offers the best lighting to capture those mesmerizing hues with your camera. I would recommend visit immediate after it rains. Rain enhances the color of minerals drastically.
Pro Tips: Drive the one-way Artist's Drive for the best views. Parking can be tight, so plan to visit during quieter hours if possible.
Short Hike: There's a short, easy trail from the parking area that takes you right into the heart of the colorful hills. It's suitable for all skill levels.
Other Nearby Sights: While you're in the area, don't miss the nearby Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes and Golden Canyon for more fantastic hikes and photo ops.
Those vibrant colors tell an ancient story. Artist's Palette is a unique and enchanting stop in Death Valley National Park. 🎨📸🏜️

This is a great stop in Death Valley. Artists Palette definitely deserves its namesake. The oxidation of the minerals causes vibrant colors to form in the rocks. The scenery is beautiful, and there is a lot of fun exploring. Some of the formations are fragile and can slide, so try to stay on established paths. There is a one-way road to get here, but it is worth the extra time and winding road.

You would not believe the difference colours and patterns you can see in the rocks. There is a one way route through The Artist’s Palette for cars to drive round. You can stop in a couple of places to have a good look.

It’s a must stop if you’re heading to bad water, it’s right on the way. It’s approximately a 5 mile drive around the loop but it’s worth the effort to stop and gaze and all the rock formations in the colors.

This is a fun stop because there is so much freedom to hike around wherever you want. There are little footpaths everywhere. Most people think you can only take in the view and leave, but you can actually spend a lot of time climbing and hiking.

Artist’s Pallet is one of the most unique features about Death Valley. By this point in your trip through the park, you will have seen colors you did not know could exist in a desert, and Artist’s Pallet is perhaps the pinnacle of that experience. Shades of green, purple, pink splattered throughout white and brown formations are truly magical.
To get there, you go through a one-way road that leads you to the Pallet. You will turn off and follow the signage. When you arrive, there is ample parking (limited-ish spots, but people park where they reasonably can), and there is a viewing platform right at the parking lot. For those more adventurous, you can journey down into the Pallet and walk around. Once you descend, there are flat grounds and hills you can explore. When you are ready to leave, you exit following the signage through the same one-way road. Drive slow as the road is narrow, and there is also a lot to see along the way.
Pro Tip: If you come when the sun is shining too strongly (i.e. late morning through early afternoon), the sun can mute out the colors, so the Pallet may not look as vibrant or colorful as you would expect. Coming during dawn or dusk if possible really allows these colors to stand out.
Pro Tip on the Pro Tip: The funny thing about Death Valley is that most of the main attractions are best viewed during dawn and sunrise or dusk and sunset. And with the sheer distance between them all, you really need to prioritize where you are going to spend that time. I only got to spend one day in Death Valley, and Artist’s Pallet’s relatively central location meant that it was more of an early afternoon stop (on the way to Mesquite Sand Dunes for the sunset). One thing I noticed is that wearing polarized sunglasses corrected the muting effect on the sun, so I was able to see the different colors more vividly than when I took my sunglasses off.
Enjoy!

Amazing! I enjoyed sunset here. I underestimated how much is here too see. You could probably spend an entire sunset or sunrise hiking around this area. Numerous trails through the colorful badlands and you will want to pull over constantly as you make your way. I'd suggest a minimum of an hour to at least hike some of the main attraction area and enjoy the road but you will probably take a lot longer if you choose to explore every bit of every hike and every stop. It's an enjoyable wandering social trail layout in the colorful rocks area.
The Badwater Basin, a saline depression in Death Valley National Park, is situated 282 feet below the sea level. Although it requires some driving with no cell phone coverage for most of the way after entering the park, visitors can witness its vastness and walk on a dry salt surface by trekking about half a mile from the parking lot. Despite dogs being prohibited by signs, some individuals still ignore this rule.
Badwater Basin- the lowest point in the US- is one of the busiest spots, most popular places in Death Valley National Park. I wanted to get to the mountains across the salt flat but didn’t know how far it went.

Loved it…!!!! What a stark, boldly beautiful landscape. Drove out from Las Vegas to experience the sunset in this surreal environment. Was blown away by the dynamic dichotomies of sheer mountainsides and salt flats, static browns and shimmering whites, presence of life and potential for death. The colors of the sky did not disappoint, nor did the vastness of the park. I'll return again and completely skip the vugarity of Vegas in exchange for the purity of this park.

This is one of the must sees in Death Valley. The sign said this is the lowest place in US. The area is so big and there are salt and salty water everywhere. It's going to be a bit of a drive to get here. There will also be no cell phone reception for most of the way once you enter the park (Death Valley National Park). There were much more people than I had anticipated.. The signs say that dogs are not allowed, comma but that didn't stop a lot of people from being dirtbags. The bad water basin walk was about a 1/2 mile there and back from the parking area. You will walk on dried salt. Once you get out there you can see the vastness of the desert. The only services there were some toilets.

Very unique place to visit in Death Valley national park. It doesn’t look like much from the road or the parking lot but after a mileish hike out down the salt road the shapes really start to become visible. Very easy walk so make it out if you can. Go near sunset if you can for better contrast along the floor. Knocked one star off for dealing with the crowds and difficulty finding parking spots.

We went there this weekend. There's still plenty of water to see this once in a lifetime event. The water is green and you can see salt crystals and algae.
It's not hot at all. Pretty windy actually so bring windbreakers if you want to walk to the edge of the lake.

It's definitely a unique place that attracts thousands of tourists everyday. There are plenty of parking spaces, boardwalks lead to saltwater, people were trying to get as close to the water as possible for better reflection pictures, some even walked into the saltwater. Saltwater is still and reflective like mirror, makes beautiful mirror images of surrounding mountains. We saw many dead grasshoppers and a dead duck, they couldn't survive the deadly saltwater.

Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America at 282 ft (86 m) below sea level. The salt flats here cover nearly 200 square miles (518 square km), and are composed mostly of sodium chloride (table salt), along with calcite, gypsum, and borax. We visited this place back in December of 2018 (thank god), so the weather was mild, unlike the scorching summer months.
Here are some pictures I took during the visit.

Wow! An interesting place, but you’d better like it hot, especially if you’re visiting in the summer months as I did. It was 119° and the wind blowing off the sand felt like I imagine a blast furnace would feel like. Truly amazing spot. A thousand years has created this surreal salt basin. Lowest spot in our nation Not for the faint hearted to walk out in the blistering sun.

Incredible to see this much water here... it is normally tall, crunchy salt peaks (although the ground has always been damp if you sit down on it). Previously, this corner of the park was relatively uncrowded, but with constant news coverage & and articles, it was pretty packed this trip. This is an amazing spot for night photography. Even in January, it can be warm one day and intensely foggy & chilly the next. Travel with preparedness! Little to no cell svc all throughout the park, if it's raining then flash floods are a serious possibility, there are no shoulders on the roads which are flush with the desert floor and have washed out during heavy rains. Badwater Basin is still 55 miles even after you've entered the park (just north of Shoshone). No services except at Furnace Creek & an outpost near the campgrounds. Weather is all over the place. It can be snowing in the mountain ranges & hot on the ground then freezing at night. Winds are VERY strong in the basin. There's no place else quite like it. Enjoy it and take it all in...it's so worth it!

This was probably one of the highlights of our Death Valley tour, being at 200+ feet below sea level. You get to really see why they call the Death Valley, Death Valley. Enormous salt plains with an endless view of the valley meeting the horizon, especially during sun set, is simply gorgeous.
Don't come in the day; make sure you check for sunset timing and reach the carpark before that. After that, try to also stay for the night skies, as the stars will be out and stargazing takes over (assuming fair weather conditions). The thing with nature is, once you miss it, you miss it; but it's also unpredictable.
We came here with iTravel USA LLC, and Mama Lankun was an amazing tour guide for what we needed for the day.

The lowest point in the Western Hemisphere, this is surely an interesting place. When we were there, there was a rare event--there was water! Yes, with the recent rain from the tropical storm Hilary, there was water! Surely in the coming days this will evaporate and be back to its normal dry lake bed type salt condition. Best to visit here in the winter as this place has some of the hottest temperatures on record! The white line at the top in the picture with the vehicles is sea level.

Want Instagram pics you can show off to your friends? This is the place. Bring water proof colorful boots to get the best shot. You need to walk on few inches deep mud to get to the less crowded area and to get to water area to the perfect mirror reflection shots. You the photographer need to shoot from a very low angle to capture the mirror reflection of the landscape or your subjects. Don’t shoot from eye level and don’t shoot into the sun or your subjects will be too dark and can’t see their face.
A mountain peak in Death Valley National Park with a breathtaking view of Badwater Basin and the Panamint Mountains. The hike up there is difficult, but potentially rewarding for those who are interested in getting a good panoramic shot of the area.

Incredible views. There's some nice small hikes you can do to get different angles of the view. Use caution in the last section up, many drivers tend to cut corners and will drift into your lane on blind corners.

Awe inspiring views from Dante's point. There's a reason it has its strange name, that too in the Death Valley! It's sandy, barren in most places and can be tricky to hike around (so best get your good boots on!) but so worth it! You can only admire it's magnificence and feel humbled by it so do try to soak it in both with and without a camera. Very few places in the world will make you feel like this so make the most of it.

If you're visiting Death Valley, Dante's View is an absolute must-see attraction. The panoramic views of the valley are breathtaking and worth every bit of the winding road to reach the summit.
At over 5,000 feet above sea level, Dante's View offers a stunning vista of the Badwater Basin, the salt flats, and the surrounding mountains. The colors and contrasts are amazing, with the morning and evening sun casting long shadows across the valley.
The view from Dante's View is even more spectacular during sunset when the colors of the sky are transformed into a vibrant palette of red, pink, and orange. If you're lucky enough to visit on a clear day, you can even see Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States.
There are also picnic tables at Dante's View where you can enjoy a snack or lunch while taking in the view. However, keep in mind that there are no facilities at this location, so make sure to bring enough food, water, and sun protection.
Overall, Dante's View is a breathtaking destination that should not be missed when visiting Death Valley. Whether you're a photographer, nature enthusiast, or just looking for a stunning view, Dante's View will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

spectacular view of bad water basin, one of the best sunset views in Death Valley. the road leading to the view point is full of all kinds of flowers in spring. a must see place in Death Vally.

The drive up is definitely worth the curves and the grade. You have to experience a sunset on top of the mountain. As the sun disappears the stars begin to come out and what a place to start gaze. Weather was breezy and cool while we were there but that doesn’t detract from the views. Has to be on anybody’s must visit lists while in Death Valley National Park.

What an incredible view! There are a few short hiking trails that are worth the walk if you want an even better view than what you get from the parking lot. On a clear day, if you squint and look off into the distance you can just make out Mos Eisley spaceport. 😉

What a view from the top. Really liked it. You can drive there with the car and take a photo.

Amazing View. Make sure you plan ahead to have the time to visit the peak. Takes minimum of additional 1 hour to visit (Drive up, taking some photos at the top, and down back to main road). Definitely a must visit in Death Valley

This is sooooooo beautiful! The photos couldn’t show even a quarter of the beauty of this spot. I definitely a hundred percent recommend you come to check this spot out. It’s one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.

#1 spot to see Death Valley NP especially during the sunset. A couple things to note to enjoy Dante's View safely:
- be careful with the final stretch of the drive which is narrow with 2-way traffic and some twists and turns.
- bring long sleeves, pants and layers as the elevation means drastically cooler temp than the rest of the park.
- bring a flashlight for returning to the car after dark.

The best spot in death valley! As soon as you ascend the road, the temperature drops twenty degrees and a sense of astonishment overcomes you!

I left Las Vegas at 6am, got to this viewpoint at about 9:00am. Parking is plenty, and view is amazing. I took one hikers advice, hiked extra half mile to have better views. It was worth it.

Beautiful place. Make sure you will get on sunset. You won’t regret it. Coming from Vegas last 50 miles or so there is no any gas station or store, so make sure you have everything enough with you. Plus mostly you will not have cell phone connection.

I'll never travel to Las Vegas without this trip planner again
The Amargosa Opera House is a small, artsy hotel in the Funeral Mountains Wilderness Area, which features murals and trompe loeil ceilings painted by opera singer Marta Becket. It also hosts weekly shows from the Vegas City Opera.
Honestly I had a really great stay here. It definitely a little on the older side, but it's clean and the blankets are very warm. I liked all the little decorations and historical tid bits, and it was very quite and relaxing after a long day. It doesn't have a TV or anything, but I actually really loved the little lending library they had.
Aniel — Google review
No ghosts here which was disappointing. Most of the hotel is abandoned but gives a good vibe. Plenty of parking and old cool stuff to watch if you want to walk around the place. The kitchen and communal spaces are big and clean. Receptionist was super helpful and even borrowed us her charger! We slept pretty good, bed and sheets seem fairly new but there was some dog hair on our sheets. The walls are really thin so we could listen everyone in the hall and rooms. Overall a good experience but pretty abandoned.

Super friendly host, we were finding our way to death valley, not knowing it was closed. Host shared the WiFi for me to navigate out and allow me to use the restroom. Had a great chat too to understand the history of the Opera House.

5 stars for the tour. Rooms would probably rank as a low 3 high 2 from average folk, but it is a historic building without TV. They have a great library you can borrow from as you stay. Read a little of the Secrets of US Presidents.

I did not stay there, just did the tour. The story of Marta and her amazing art is cool. Quirky and charming place. I would definitely stay there. Just keep in mind, it's a very old building in the middle of the desert. Worth the stop. Call ahead,

We didn't choose the hotel for its accommodation qualities nor amenities as it lacks both. With this in mind, we got what we expected, an experience in a strange fascinating piece of history in Death Valley! It is falling apart, the old paint of the building is cracked and peels everywhere, and the major hallway stinks mildew! In contrast the bedrooms are clean and mattresses comfortable. Bathrooms are in good shape even though the hot water takes a little adjustment it does work. There is a free coffee station which is the one nice perk and the receptionist was very nice. We took the tour of the opera house, its historic is fascinating, check it out four yourself when visiting Death Valley!
Emmanuelle Caumont (Emma) — Google review
The building is old and needs some work, if you don't like that don't stay here. We enjoyed it however as it is still luxurious compared to camping, and compared to many motel 6 type places. Funky and original and unique. A tour of the opera house is a must. Kitchen details since the cafe is closed: they have a toaster, fridge, microwave and coffee on the mornings. There are no bowls or plates so bring some if you plan to make food there.

An unusual place, historic, and significant to the area. Rooms were plain, furniture dated, and a bit run down, but the sheets were clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. No amenities in room such as tv or coffee, or fridge. There are large communal fridges.
The staff was accommodating, and exceptionally friendly.
I would like to see security latches inside doors, and there weren't any.
Meagan Woodard — Google review
it's certainly rustic but seemed clean, a good place to stop to get a good start on the sights in death valley. There wasn't any hot water when we were there though and I'd take fly spray as the person before us must've left the door to outside open which resulted in many flies in the room. All in all nice quaint place with a creepy aura which is cool
Chris Daniels — Google review
This is a 5 star experience at a 2 star hotel. The 100 year old hotel needs lots of TLC, but it is a marvelous historic site run by a nonprofit trust so the money goes to a good cause. We really enjoyed the tour of the Opera House.

Rustic hotel with lots of character. Beautiful old features throughout. Staff was friendly. Tiny town near Death Valley. If you’re looking for something spotless and new not the place for you. I love older homes and their imperfections so I didn’t mind it! Would stay again.
belle jennings — Google review
Awful. The internet is incredibly slow. The room flooded from below and the roof leaked. The exposed copper pipes will burn you. It smells bad. The parking lot was total mud. The opera house part costs an extra 10 dollars, but closed anyway. No in room services (coffee, TV, etc). Only one microwave/fridge for the whole hotel. Nowhere to put toiletries in the tiny bathroom. Very run-down overall.
mw j — Google review
For anyone visiting Death Valley, this is a must see stop or at least, in my opinion anyway. Even though Marta Becket is no longer here to entertain us with her grace and beauty, her incredible talent can still be enjoyed and appreciated by taking a tour of the opera house, see the beautiful murals or even better, attending one the many shows that are still performed within it. Of course, a stay in one of the many historic rooms is always a pleasure as well.

This place is all about location. It is on the edge of the desert, and there are very few things funkier than the desert. If you are traveling into the area for the first time, you may be put off by the ancient condition of this "original condition" gem. But if you have traveled in this area for long at all you may come to appreciate it as much as I do. it is quirky, it is operating on a shoestring because in this area, resources are limited. But there is a dedicated staff here doing there best to make your stay as clean as comfortable as they can, and it was plenty of both for me.
Michael Binroth — Google review
The Amargosa Opera House has an incredible back story. Truly, an astonishing piece of history that is well worth a 15-minute stop in on your way to Death Valley, even if you don't stay the night. Upon arrival to the junction, you will feel like you are stepping into a time capsule. My friend & I spent a night at the hotel after a long day in the park. The bed was actually quite comfortable, and I did enjoy the mint green tiling of our bathroom... It is however a shame that the hotel, the theater, and pretty much what remains of the entire town is in disrepair (as of Nov 2022.) We came to understand that practically the entire town on the west side is under the guardianship of a non-profit... we are a bit confused as to how they are distributing funds when it is obvious that the exterior of the hotel and much of the interior is falling apart piece by piece. Peeling paint in the exterior (not to mention adobe that is crumbling) and interior (ceiling in the common room...), as well as a sagging floor (with carpets? why?), piping which is exposed, box A/C units hanging precariously, and dated furniture in the room, as well as grounds which have obviously become a junkyard of debris littering the property (seen from the back of our room once we drew the curtain to let light in.) There is no operational cafe or restaurant, much less mini-mart or convenience store or even a vending machine. You have access to coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the morning and that is it. The entire place feels like one sad tombstone for Martha Beckett and those brave, perhaps eccentric, dreamers who came before her. It is tragic that such a space with unique architecture and history gets turned to dust... and lost to time.... when it could well become an artist's residence, a visual arts center, a museum dedicated to the history of settlement in the area, a retreat space for yoga or wellness, etc. So many possibilities with the right minds & the right marketing could come together. I wish the best for this incredible place... and hope that a 2.0 version of Martha comes around the bend.

A really cool historic location. It was somewhat run down, but had so much character. Definitely take the tour if you stay. It took us about half an hour to get to Death Valley from the Opera House. Don't expect anything fancy, but come for the off the beaten trail vibes and convenient location. It was very comfortable and felt quite safe, though!

OK so I may have posted about this place but it’s a pretty amazing old place. If you’re anywhere near Death Valley National Park, you have to come here.
The hotel rooms are straightforward and basic and a little bit dated but that is the allure of this place. To be drawn back in time for a moment, and experience things, and a little simpler format.
The story and the artwork is something to be admired, and understood. I’ll include a few photos, but you have to come to this place and see it and admire all the work of one amazing woman.

DO NOT MISS THIS MAGICAL PLACE! Especially take the tour!! Currently it’s only $15, $10 if you’re a guest at the hotel. Found on a whim while venturing to Death Valley NP. This place feels like stepping back in time. 16th century Europe vibes, and incredible place of art by Marta Becket.
The building is just turning 100 years old, so of course it’s not going to be your latest/greatest with full amenities, but the experience I had here (ended up staying 2 nights, taking tour twice) was one of the coolest experiences I’ve had. Made some new friends and already planning my return visit.

My mother's family helped get this place up and running back in the 60's with Martha. I have some old family videos of this place being worked on by my grandpa and his family. My mother used to play up in the attic of the hotel.
This place isn't luxury, as mentioned in other reviews, but this place is a piece of history and artwork, hard work and endurance from those who built it, and then rebuilt it to become what it is today. The exterior is deceiving when you go into the opera house. It's like walking into a different building. You wouldn't expect to see that theater in that type of building. I got to meet Martha once years ago. We used to stop by the Amargosa whenever we would travel to Death Valley. It's definitely worth the visit and the tour.

People are ready and available upfront till 8am, no tvs in the rooms but this mostly is for sound and light pollution reasons. Cute place, my partner is into ghost and seemingly this place is haunted? Fun stay regardless 😊
Internet connection is provided and has nice skylights in the showers andain hotel. If you are trying to get to Death Valley, especially during this time of year when it's cooler, I would recommend the Opera House. Much much cheaper than the hotels in the valley and only about a half hour drive there.

I’m a huge fan of unique stays, historical hotels and architecture but this is beyond a major disappointment! Number 1- the smell is absolutely unbearable! It smells like sulfur or raw sewage or both! It’s so bad that I had to put my hand over my nose and mouth! It’s gag worthy! It actually seems unsuitable to be renting this place out. The room didn’t smell until I opened the closet and it smelled like diarrhea so I chose not to use the extra blanket or pillows. 2-the bed is rock hard. 3- you can hear everything from the neighbors room and actually see light leaking between the cracks of the door between the rooms. I had to turn on the fan to drown out the noise. 4-the staff (and I’m kind of thinking this poor girl hates her job so I don’t really blame her and she’s only worked there a few months) every answer was “the hotel is 100 years old”. But my house is over 100 years old and it doesn’t smell like this! ALSO the place is in the desert where water is scarce and you are told to let the shower run for 15 minutes to let it warm up! Get the pipes fixed! This is ridiculous! Unfortunately you can’t cancel your booking after 48 hours or I would have. If you’re looking for a cheap place go a little further down the road to the Longstreet Casino, not much farther but it’s clean and it doesn’t stink, it has lots of character and history and they have a restaurant and a resident casino cat named Jackpot!
I really wanted to like this place and I was excited to stay here but I’m soooooooo bummed now. And I’m stuck here one more night! Maybe things were better before the flooding but they need to get this place fixed or close it as it is a health hazard. Just say no!

Famous historic opera House and hotel unfortunately has been in physical decline over many years. Chipping paint and old plumbing but the rooms were sturdy. Warm enough staff very friendly. Even a little bit of coffee in the morning...
Definitely worth the stay but do not expect a five-star brand new

Great place to stay. Now if you are expecting much out of a 100 year old building. Don't come. If you enjoy the possibly haunted and quirky building. You will love it! Little smelly but it does what it needs to do. Would come back!
Chris Belben — Google review
We had a very poor experience staying at the hotel (March 2024) and I recommend you stay elsewhere. This is very disappointing, as we are huge fans of unusual and historic hotels. We expected a bit of "character" to this old and remote place -- but, considering the price they charge for rooms, the disrepair, neglect, and poor service are unacceptable for ~$150.
Just stop, take some pictures, and keep moving. Really seems to have fallen off a cliff since the passing of the founder in 2017, or maybe the area flooding last year.
If you do stay, expect an absolutely rancid hallway (carpet that has obviously, by the mold-smell, been flooded or leaked on or something ongoing), no TV, unusable WiFi, and a Russian Novel of "don't do this, don't do that's." They have a fireplace, but won't let you use it at night... you know, when it's cold. The cafe is closed. The lamps are broken. You can hear quiet conversations from the hallway and connecting rooms since nothing closes right. They won't even give you a tour or tell you about the history of the building without another upsell.
This is a real shame. I hope the org that runs the place can improve, as it deserves to be preserved. But for travelers on a budget looking for a warm comfortable splurge after camping... you'll get much better facilities and services up the road.
Not at all ADA compliant, and I would be worried about bringing children here.
M Phone — Google review
I went for the tour and it blew my mind! Such a talented eccentric who turned this place into a work of art inside! You would never know driving by as it looks deserted. The photos here are just the lobby which is nothing compared to inside the opera house. Well worth the stop!

This is the type of place where you want to stay during a road trip. Yes, there is peeling paint but its also 100 years old. Make sure you watch the documentary "Amargosa" before, during or after you stay. The place will stay in your heart ever after. It's worth noting that any money they get will be used to preserving such a historical landmark. The US should preserve these type of histories. I'll be coming back again.
Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is a vast expanse of wetlands and desert, spanning over 24,000 acres. It provides ample opportunities to observe various kinds of wildlife, including birds, foxes, coyotes and reptiles. It is highly recommended to visit when the visitors center is open to gain knowledge about this beautiful place.

First: don’t trust google maps. Don’t take “fastest route” from Vegas to NWR. It’s a doable road by car but not a fun road by car. Take the hwy from amargosa or pahrump instead.
Now onto fun stuff:
Ash Mdws is a treasure. We arrived after three days of heavy rain and it was beautiful and overcast.
The staff are wonderful and full of great knowledge. This is dog friendly so long as they’re on a leash, you clean their poop and you stay on trail.
Bathrms were in great shape and clean. Visitors Ctr is awesome, beautifully designed and full of cool info. The boardwalk and water jet metal designs throughout the park are testament to the love people have for this place. I am so glad we had an opportunity to stop through. Very unique place, love the silence. It’s nice to spent some time away from the busy life. This place has a nice crystal fountain. All of the water at Ash Meadows is fossil water, believed to have entered the ground water system tens of thousands of years ago. Great place to walk. Boardwalk is a loop going through the fountain.

A beautiful day hiking at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. The location has plentiful signage to make finding things easy. The park is very clean. Clean and stocked restrooms. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There’s covered parking and a covered picnic area at the Visitor’s Center. Take time to watch the 19 minute movie at the Visitor’s Center about this location and you’ll be ready to see all the treasures of this landmark. The areas are mostly handicapped accessible too. Best to come when the park first opens in the morning. Tourist gifts, books on culture and history and t-shirts available. Be sure to bring sunscreen, plenty of water, a hat, a charged cell phone, snacks, and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking. It is possible to walk up to 5 miles depending on what you’d like to see. It is all up to you. Would definitely recommend this special place.

Travelled through in the winter so there wasn't much wildlife. But the landscaping was beautiful. Nice learning experience. The Devil's Hole was interesting. About 500 little fish that only live there are being protected, so they have it caged up. From the signs, these fish have existed at this location for the past 40,000 years or so, and leave it to humans to almost obliterate them. The network of tunnels under the area contain water that serves the surrounding communities. Fascinating info.

The refuge doesn’t have paved roads. The ride could be very bumpy. I would suggest to go in from the west rather from the south, which is more bumpy. I doubt you are able to see any animals except birds and small cute fish. There are several springs and water reservoirs that you can go. I would suggest to go to visitor center first to get advice where to go. Don’t waste your time to go to Devils holes. There is really nothing worthy.

There are many individual water features in this wetlands oasis. It is located about two hours from Las Vegas. It makes for a great single day trip. The much of the wildlife and plant life are unique to the area. But there is an abundance of animal life common to the greater Mojave Desert that frequently is seen. There is hunting in some areas for both waterfowl and upland game. Dogs should be kept on leashes when outside vehicles for their protection as well as the protection of native wildlife.

The Pahrump Nugget is an informal hotel and casino located in Pahrump, Nevada. The establishment boasts a variety of on-site restaurants, including a steakhouse and 24-hour eatery, as well as a bowling alley for entertainment. Visitors can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi during their stay. While the selection of table games may be limited, friendly dealers and excellent bartenders make up for it. Additionally, the hotel rooms are basic but suitable for a comfortable stay.
Walked in on a busy night with no reservation. They were quick to accommodate us. The service was great, the food tasted awesome. Next time we are in town we will definitely stop back. By the way, had a small issue with a steak, was resolved immediately and made us a customer for life. Can't wait to go back.

This is a smaller casino with good service. The dinning area has friendly waiters and staff. There is an electronic bingo area and a bowling alley here. Occasionally (and depending on what days) the bowling alley is too full to get to play. This casino is about 20 years old. Other than that it is a great place to stop if you are on your way to Death Valley. Also, you never have to wait to use the restrooms since there are plenty of stalls.

Casino: I actually did pretty good on the machines so don’t have anything bad to say about the gambling and my friend did good at 10.00 blackjack.
There is a whole cast of characters in this casino def some good people watching😎
Food: I had some so so soup and salad that was terrible but it was only 10.00!!! So guess I can’t complain too much!

I can't brag enough about the cleanliness of our room. It even smells good. Non smoking room.. The biggest surprise to me. The towels, most hotel towels smell like cigarette smoke to me or cheap soap. The towels in our room smell clean and fresh. Theres a small refrigerator, ironing board and iron and a coffee pot , and hair dryer.
Casino is clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the Cafe. Its was really tasty. This is a nice place to stay after a day out playing in the desert.

It was old and worn down. Bad lighting. The AC was super loud. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were so puffy and hard they hurt my neck. The shower was weak. Really bad lighting in the bathroom and mold in the corners.
I had a non smoking room and it smelled ok. Not fresh. Kinda musky and old. But didn't stink of smoke like the casino does.
Then when I went to check out I came back from getting coffee at 10:30 and asked to get a late check out, the lady at the counter was unfriendly and said no at first, then said maybe 10 minutes extra. So I had to rush to get ready. At least I wanted to get the heck out of there anyway.
I don't gamble or care about casinos. I just needed a hotel for a couple nights, and it was cheaper than the middle class name brand hotels in town. Typically casinos have good deals on nice rooms. But this one does not. They really need to spend some of that casino money on a remodel.

Rooms are dirty, wouldn't accommodate a no smoking room, no ice machines on any floors, rude customer service. Dirty rooms, not even a fitted sheet on the bed. When my brother asked where he could get ice he was told by the "manager" it wasn't "the end of the world" and he can "pay for ice". Better service at a motel 8. The "view" is of trash in a parking lot.

The restaurants inside were wonderful, and the non-smoking rooms didn't smell like smoke or anything nasty. The lobby and entrance do stink, but IMO It's worth the price. This place is a joke. 7 years in Pahrump been coming up here for years. This place is a joke. I am Chris Addison. They changed the new felt layout on the craps table 2-3 months ago. I swear to god every other roll is off the table or a 7. It's beyond bumpy or rubbery. No players on the table games weekend nights. That should be the first clue. I don't owe anybody this but I wanted to let the public know, this place is a scam for real.

Stopped here for a single night, simply because we wanted to pass through Death Valley during the daytime. Food was good but expensive. Lost 250 bucks playing slots. The room was nice but the walls are thin and could here what was going on next door. Overall not a bad place but if you are looking for a long stay, keep driving.

Great, cheap lodgings for animal-lovers. Only trouble we had was the toilet clogging up the first night we were there. But the management was wonderful. They showed up immediately and put us into a new room so we wouldn't have to deal with the hassle. The rooms were spacious and not noisy like I thought it would be. Nothing fancy, but it was clean, and we had everything we needed.

We were in town for the weekend from Vegas. We really liked this casino and this is where we spent the most time and money. The staff was courteous and helpful. Oddly enough, I did not get the feeling that they enjoy working there. I don't want to single out anyone or get anyone in trouble but they did not look happy at all. regardless. We really like this casino and will be back!

This place needs to be investigated by the gaming authorities. There craps table is legit rigged and the dice literally bounce off the table almost every other roll. It's other shooters as well. I want my 10 grand back. This was the experience I've had every time here and I must have tried 50 to 100 times to roll the dice here. Please help.

Absolutely love this casino! The staff was awesome, all dealers... Mike and Lynda were the reason I stayed so long at the tables. The food from the steakhouse was incredibly good. The slots are so fun, we played about 20 different slots and won healthy on most of them, the smoke isn't that bad unless you're sitting directly next too a smoker. I love this casino, by far the best one I've been to in 10yrs or more. Super clean and table games are great.

By far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Spent two nights and the only reason I didn't leave is because the room is nonrefundable. The furniture is beat up and looks like it came from a facebook marketplace free add. At least the aesthetic matches the rest of the filthy room which was covered in dust, debri, and hair. The door to the room from the hallways didn't even close and lock allowing anyone to push the door open from the hallways without a key. I was told to just "slam it and lift it up". No overhead lights in the room, only 3 lamps, one of which didn't work. Stains (blood?) on the chairs made them nonsittable. Even though I booked a room for two there were only three pillows on the bed. The bed was however, covered in an abudance of hard, stiff blankets. The showers are incorrectly labeled for cold and hot water. No outlets near the bed for easy access phone's at night. No microwave in the room at all. No large body mirror. No liner in the ice box. But I had a nice little roach visit me at night. Surprised I didn't find any bedbugs when I checked, and I felt the need to check.

We arrived at the casino/hotel with a reservation in advance and received wonderful service. The clerk was efficient and gave us great directions on how to get to the room. We needed an accessible room and received a room near the hotel entrance, which was perfect. It made our walk to/from the parking lot or casino/restaurants a breeze! The casino was fun with lots of games. We only tried the cafe restaurant but loved it so much for dinner that we ended up going back for breakfast in the morning. It was such a wonderful, quiet place to stay on the way out of Vegas and heading towards Death Valley. We can't wait to come back to the Nugget! (Also, make sure you sign up for the players card at the casino for some great deals!)

I liked the casino(cocktail waitress was were great- one pregnant and all), bingo hall, and bowling alley. Some live entertainment would have been nice(cover band, or some jazz). The restaurant is good, and the rooms were just okay, decent enough with mini fridges, and keirigs.

We reserved a king non smoking room over a month before our stay, but when we arrived they couldn't deliver. They were very rude about it stating that all of the rooms were booked and kept saying that the room we got instead was more expensive- untrue, but more importantly, we didn't want a different room, we wanted the room we reserved and paid for well in advance. After gaslighting me about it for 5 minutes and offering no apologies or nothing to compensate, I decided it wasn't worth my time. Other than that, the hotel it's pretty run down. It smells awful and there's no insulation so prepare to be kept up all night or woken up early by neighboring rooms every day. We'd never stay here again.

Hotel: Pretty run down, poor lighting in parking lot next to hotel entrance. People in parking lot acting like they want to kill each other (imho crank heads), ok if you need a cheap place to stay for the night, but sketchy as hell. No security present in parking lot.
Casino: Great if you need get your gambling fix and get on your way as quickly as possible. They will accommodate you with the tightest machines I ever remember playing.
I can NOT recommend.

Very dissapointing, my friends enjoyed stopping by after dinner, good laughs & visiting, play triple double, now for the last five to six months, very sad, they do not give you any play just to keep you playing, for locals. I used to look forward to meeting the girls, like I said, relax & enjoy, no more. I look forward to my birthday in February 😏

Very good. Security is great, and the parking lot is safe. The staff in the casino isn't very friendly towards women FYI but overall I'd stay here again.
Charleston Peak Winery offers an upscale dining experience with a focus on Continental cuisine and wine pairings in a picturesque vineyard setting. The Symphony restaurant, located within the winery, provides an intimate atmosphere with around 15 tables, making reservations highly recommended. Guests praise the delicious menu and perfectly prepared food, as well as the exceptional service provided by staff members like Rose, Jennifer, and Laressa. Visitors also appreciate the welcoming hospitality of the entire team at Charleston Peak Winery.
The Symphony restaurant is located inside the Pahrump Valley Winery. It has a small dining room with around 15 tables (reservation recommended). The menu was solid, and the food was prepared perfectly. The person who enhanced our experience was our waiter, Rose. Rose has a million dollar smile along with a sparkling personality. She was simply the best!

Pahrump Valley Winery is a fantastic surprise found while were staying at Wine Ridge RV Resort, which is happily located next door to said winery. We had to ventured over to experience the winery as we were so close.
What a great choice it turned out to be. We stepped up to their wine bar and begun tasting some very delicious wines. All of the wines on their menu are created on this property, at least two of the wines, the Nevada Merlot and the Zinfandel, are crafted using grapes that our grown on this property. All of the wines that we tasted were unique, tasty, choices, but the two grown on the property were my personal favorites. The Zinfandel is quite unique, it finishes sweet - very unlike most Zinfandels that I have experienced.
After tasting the wines we went into their restaurant for dinner. Again, a lovely surprise. We were greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable host, who went on to handle our service throughout our dining experience.
Not only was she knowledgeable about the food served in the restaurant but she was filled with fun information about the Pahrump area. She truly made our dining experience memorable.
We were started off with bread and the wine we selected during our tasting, then we ordered appetizers and the main meal, but were simply to full for dessert. I attached photos of our meal. It was all lovely, well made food. Our compliments to the chef.
I highly recommend this winery/restaurant. Everything was excellent.

Amazing dining and wine tasting/tour experience. The staff was very welcoming and the food was delicious! The wine tour, although short is quite informative and the tasting is a must when visiting! Totally recommended this place. It's a nice 45 minute getaway from the bustle and noise of the Vegas strip!

We had been to the annual wine stomp a few times before COVID hit and it was always packed and fun! Different heats for stomping, they started at 12 and went well into the afternoon. Wine was sold inside and outside the winery, (they even had their own red blend that sold out quick) wine tours, gift shop, both tasting bars inside and a few outside were open and poppin!! Even the restaurant was packed, glad to pay the 25 per person!! And now...
Restaurant closed, wines weren't being sold and if they were, the staff didn't forward that information, instead they tried to get people to play lawn games and I wasn't there for that.
I went to watch competitive grape stomping while enjoying lunch in the restaurant after tasting their flights of wine at the bar. Roam the gift shop for my mom's BDay gifts and get stuff for me too.
Not this time, instead, my husband paid 50$ to walk onto this property and roam around for an hour. What a waste of money.
I did buy 2 oils, 1 vinegar 1 flight and 2 glasses of wine.
I hope this new owner gets a clue or hires a partner that has a better sense of a good time cuz a 25$ ticket for 1 "taste"
IS NOT A GOOD TIME

The Winery is the best all around restaurant with an atmosphere in Pahrump. Anyone who is visiting I tell them to come. The service staff have been there for a while in the restaurant and are all friendly. There are new owners which are expanding the place which will be good I think. The previous owner upgraded the main area a while ago which is nice. The meatloaf is unique for a higher end restaurant, and would recommend. Everything is good and if have time, get some wine from NEVADA biggest winery.

Exquisite food! The crab cakes are like 98% crab!!! Like I love!!! The Tuscany soup was tasty and homey and the sandwiches were scrumptiously delightful.
It's not Tahoe, but once you get over that ,you'll have a wonderful time. Lee Canyon is SO convenient and close to "the strip". The drive is easy and beautiful. I really like this small resort feel over any large overcrowded resort .
They recently renovated the entire resort and so your ticket goes a long way here!!
The new build out is modern , clean, and beautiful. I was so impressed seeing the before and after . The restaurant, bar and restrooms look great!!
The snow here is not always powdery but I believe they make their own snow. On a sunny bluebird day it's so amazing to be out on the mountain here.
You can finish your long day like we did, with a treat at In and Out a short drive away after you get down from the mountain :)

Las Vegas locals and visitors alike should take the time to escape Lee Canyon. Here, it's always significantly cooler than the valley
In the summer, you can hike, mountain bike, and more. And, in the winter, you're able to ski and snowboard here. In the fall, the color changing leaves here are phenomenal.
Matthew — Google review
This is Las Vegas is only ski slope, and the quality of the snow is completely dependent on the weather. I was lucky that on today I went. It was slightly snowing and so there was powder on the ground.
My girlfriend was sorely, disappointed that they were completely out of all rentals. There were many other visitors who were also standing around in disappointment.
We confirmed multiple times that every single snowboard, ski, or boot rental was rented. I found this preposterous, especially given that it was really not that crowded on the mountain.
With that said, the lodge is clean and beautiful, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced given the fact that they have a captive audience.
Even though it is your only option for a close ski slope I do think that it is worth it. Just make sure that you rent your equipment in Las Vegas before you drive up.

Lee Canyon consists of 5 lifts and 22 trails so it is considered small compared to Big Bear' in California or nearby Brian Head in Utah, but it doesn't try to be those. On our recent first time visit, it was one of our best experiences at any resort, and at a fraction of the price. You simply can't find this type of value in nearby Southern California where lift tickets for adults easily exceed $100 and even for kids they can exceed $40 or more. There was a nice mix of people there, and staff were all very attentive and helpful, especially for our kids who were beginners.
It can get very busy when visiting on a holiday or a weekend, especially right after it snows, and this happened when we visited on a school holiday, but despite the busyness, for any issues we had, the staff far exceeded my expectations, I can't say enough about the customer service staff who answered our questions via email, they were awesome and resolved every and any issue we had!
Food options are decent, but I would have liked some vegetarian/vegan food options. You may have to wait a little longer during the lunch hours (at/or around 12pm) so you may want to order food outside of those busy times.
Nearly all of your booking should be done through their website. That includes lift tickets, rentals and lessons. And watch out for coupon codes that they offer from time to time. At the time of our visit, there was a great 50% off code being offered.
Overall, this has become one of our famiy's favorite resorts for skiing and snowboarding. We look forward to coming back soon and many more times!

Pretty cool place. Vegas is really exciting. You can literally find so much to do.
I had no idea this place was a thing. Only 1 hr 10mins away from Henderson. We took the drive early. I read there was a lot of traffic going up there right after the snow fall a couple days ago. Got there early, still a large amount of people there early too.
We didn’t know what to expect because we just spontaneously decided to go up there since we knew there was snow. Basically trying to find things to do since we will be here for the New Year’s Eve fiesta…
The drive was excellent. No traffic, spectacular view and snow everywhere. We pulled over took pictures.. We didn’t rent any skiing equipment. We took the drive for the experience. However, we did stay awhile to see other people ski. Next time we will be prepared to stay the whole day, with skiing equipments and skiing attire..
I gave 4 stars because, there should be other rentals equipments available. Like, those tubs you slide down the snow with. Anyway, I recommend spending a day at Lee Canyon.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. The drive was spectacular. The atmosphere was breathtaking. I love the restaurants that are up there and the little options that they give you on dining. It didn't get to write to ski lift.. because this girl does not ski. Definitely suggest going during the week much less traffic than the weekends. Lots of places to park and less less less crowded. I strongly suggest picking up your trash if you happen to go up there to visit. There's nothing worse than leaving your trash behind in a beautiful place like that. People live there also. That's also something to taken to consideration when visiting this place. Had a great visit. Looking forward to going again.

Nice view and chilling place. In the beginning of October, you can see yellow falling leaves. They have chair ride, disc golf, archery, and axe throwing. Also nice trails near by. Next time I will try to come again in Winter!
Winter Update 20-21 season:
If you are visiting from the other states, you won't believe Vegas has a good amount of snow! Not really having a variety of slopes but definitely decent grade and quality slopes. Bunny hill is getting pretty crowded after 11 AM, and it is just the right size of slope although relatively short. Also it has small terrains which are excellent for beginners. Watch out when you are stopped at the side of the slope because many riders are coming out of the woods. At the lunch time cafeteria gets crowded so make sure be prepared. Definitely good value since it is near the city (40 mins) and has perfect moderate difficulty slopes. Also be aware of road conditions which require snow tires in special cases. Check website.

Looking to take a “short” local road trip in just under an hour. Then Lee Canyon is the place for you. Beautiful scenery, fresh air and a winter wonderland (Snow), for the kids and even some adults to enjoy. You don’t have to be a skilled skier or snowboarder. You don’t even need fancy equipment or expensive snow gear to have a great time. An inner tube or even a plastic snow sled will do. Snow is expected to last up until the end of May. So, you might want to make the drive with family and friends while it still last. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the day.

Great affordable place for Vegas locals. Pretty moderate level slopes. There were some icy patches but for the most part, the snow is nice and fluffy.
One complaint is, there was a lack of signage and clear direction from staff on how to check in, and where to go. Be careful as there is lack of clear signage on the blue square trail at the end of the second ski lift. There is a split in the trail and I’m lucky I overheard an instructor warning of a steep slope if you take the right hand trail.
I love that they put the gear on for you. The system they have is very odd though as you have to wait for your name to be called to receive your skis. I wouldn’t mind as much, but there is no seating. I waited about 20 minutes for my name to be called while standing in the ski boots which was quite exhausting.
Besides the minor issues of signage and their call system, it was a beautiful spot, and I would definitely recommend it and go again.

We went up for the spring pond skim and some late season shredding. The mountain was easy to get to. No traffic. Beautiful drive. Parking was free for us but usually costs $10. The lift lines were zero the mountain was not crowded at all. The rails and park were in good condition even tho it was late season. We are going back next Saturday for another round of shred.

I have skied all over. The mountain is great for its proximity. The new lift and the area for green are great for my kids.
Renting is a problem, though. Luckily, we have our own equipment. If you rent, get there for 8a, or you'll be only getting on the mountain at noon (this happened to friends of ours who showed up a 915, there schedule rental pick up time on 4/1).
Earlier in the season, they were petty on eating at the outside tables if you brought your own food. They wanted you to walk out to the parking lot eat. I have never heard of this. On 4/1, this was much more lax, and we saw people eating their packed lunches on the outside patios.
You do need to keep an eye out for chain restrictions on the road, this is something NHP does take seriously and if you go up often invest in some, you get them for not too much on Amazon. My two older sons have learned to ski here, and with it being about an hour from the South part of Vegas, it is great to go up. The kids ski free is also a perk. Get your tickets ahead of time to maximize value.
I have attached a few pictures of going up the magic carpet. This is new and grants you access to the new lift over in the greens. This has truly made the mountain great for beginners as well. Prior to this, there was such a large jump from the bunny hill to the blues, and the only way to access these greens was from a black diamond.

We took a ride up on Christmas to see the area. We had never been there before. Not much snow yet. There wasn't much snow for those who were sledding. I don't think the ski lifts were open since hardly any snow. The next storm will probably bring plenty of snow.

We went for snow play right outside the resort which was fun. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy and the snow was deep. We like to come at least once a year for the snow.
Las Vegas visitors looking for a nature-filled escape can find it at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The conservation area comprises a network of canyons and hills with opportunities for hiking, biking, rock climbing, and desert wildlife watching.
Red Rock is the perfect day trip if you are in Las Vegas and want to enjoy the outdoors. There are numerous trails, each with dynamically different scenery. The Calico Tanks is a 2.5 mile round trip hike with about 400-500 feet in elevation change. It is absolutely beautiful. When you get to the end, scale the wall for an amazing view of the entire Las Vegas Valley. If you are a bit adventurous, go off trail on the way back. You can't get lost, as the canyon walls lead back to the trail head.

We spent several hours here doing short hikes and just exploring the canyons. We visited in October and it was hot 80s F, but not unbearable. Many of the trails are very walkable and easy. I would recommend a hat and sunscreen as there is very little shade. It was about a one hour drive from Las Vegas and a perfect day trip. We combined this with also driving to Death Valley at sunset. Beautiful landscapes and so much to see. Highly recommend!

Awesome views and really nice trails. It felt like we were on a private tour of the canyon. The 1-way road stretches all the way through the park, and it felt as if we paid for a private road. I recommend you go nice and slow. You almost feel like if you're back in time so much so that you can definitely shoot a jurassic Park scene here.
There's a 9/11 memorial on the park, pretty ko and interesting to see, you may miss it so be on the look out, it's on the side of the visitors center.

Had a lovely afternoon trip with the family to the Canyon. Beautiful open space with stunning rock formations. Saw a little wild rabbit near the visitor center. Definitely fill up on water before the drive especially if you're hiking.
We were able to follow a hike into the Canyon. It was sad to see that someone vandalized the water hole but it was easy enough to ignore. So many tadpoles in there! Not too strenuous. Great place to go to get away from the Las Vegas chaos.

What a peaceful place to be! It's so exciting to hike and explore the Red Rock Canyon! We had such a great time. A local showed us some ancient writing on the mountain. We were also able to watch some mountain climbers do their thing! Take the whole family. You can choose where to hike and the sights are stunning regardless. It's also a blast to climb into the little caves and relax for a little while as you take in the beauty of your surroundings! Now, there's always a chance that you will run into a tarantula in one of those caves, but I didn't. Take the trip and enjoy a great time outdoors!

Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful preserve teeming with color. You'll be able enjoy the scenic drive with regularly spaced facilities, or stop at the many well marked trails and do some exploring. I was thrilled to discover so much foliage in bloom in December. The stillness of the caverns was a wonderful break from the amplification of sound in the city. If you have a moment to be still for a bit, you may be able to see wildlife like Panamint Chipmunks or Mountain Bluebirds.

The whole area was pretty incredible. We went on the self-guided tour, read the signage and chose to do most of the moderate hiking trails. The temperature was about 20-30° cooler than in Las Vegas. Amazing scenic drive and the weather was perfect that day. If you time your entry right, don't forget to have a picnic lunch at the Willow Springs parking lot... plenty of picnic tables just be aware they aren't covered so you're exposed to the sun. Many stops and parking lots along the scenic drive for photo opportunities. I'll be back here again someday!

Beautiful! For $20 per vehicle, you can drive the scenic loop and just look, or get out at designated parking areas, and take photos. This is a great location for those who just want to see the beauty and/or maybe take a little walk down a trail as well as those who hike and climb.
We spent about 90 minutes there because we drove through and only walked part of one trail.
There are bathrooms (larger, fancy porta-potties, basically) at some spots. Grab a map when you get there so you know where they are ahead of time.
We ordered tickets online. At 9 AM on a Sunday, it was not overly crowded - we never had a problem pulling into one of the parking areas.
If you're visiting Las Vegas, I definitely recommend spending a couple of hours at Red Rock Canyon. You'll get great photos!

First few minutes we were driving we saw the donkeys they were so cute!
We hiked the trail to see the Waterfall which is only around in the Spring, it was very pretty. Muddy going up and a lot of rocks but we did it!
The gift shop was really cute, had a good amount of souvenirs.
There were bathrooms at each stop thankfully.
Overall we stayed about 2 hours, didn't do to many trails but you don't need to to see the beauty of the park!

Chill. Well more the vibe than the temperature. On that thought, this is a place best seen in the morning. Both for the temperature and the light. The main entrance has a visitor center and a cost that requires a reservation. Save your money and time and simply drive down to one of the free trailheads. The trails are groomed and fairly flat. You can easily do an hour adventure by walking a half hour out and then turn around and come back to your car. I think my favorite thing was the variety of cacti and succulents that we saw.

Made it a priority to explore as much as we could for the day but if you can go multiple days, I highly recommend it. I believe the entrance fee is $15 per car but we had Uber drop us off/pick us up. The commute from the Vegas strip was relatively short. The views on the journey were absolutely breathtaking. The Calico Tank trail is moderate intensity and worth completing. Bring more water than you think you need and snacks.

A scenic, picturesque and serene landscape with amazing views of mountains. The day pass (about $25 in 2024) allows access to the visitor center, scenic loop drive and access to all the trails.
Please note that cars should only stop at designated areas on the loop. Plenty of photo opportunities and access to well marked trails are available in these stops. The larger scenic view points also have restrooms.

Really beautiful and well-maintained natural area with excellent hikes. We enjoyed it so much on our first visit that we opted to return with family the next week!
The online reservation system works well to manage crowds in the scenic loop (where most of the trail heads are), but it means you need to plan ahead for your visit. You might wish to download the park map before your visit. (They didn’t have paper maps when we were there)
We hiked there two different days and appreciated the well marked trails. There is parking at each collection of trailheads, and some lots also have pit toilets. Several areas also have picnic tables.

Some of the easier rated trails have elevation and rocks paths that may require some agility. We spent almost the entire day there. Walking 4-5 trails around the scenic route.

This place is absolutely beautiful. We were able to stop at several different trailheads before getting to a Conservation. We are from Florida and it was so good to see mountains and enjoy the nature that this beautiful area provides. We highly recommend if you were staying in the Vegas area and can have the availability to get up super early in the morning like we did at 5 AM and drive 40 minutes away from the strip to go see this beautiful area. I highly recommend it’s worth every Moment.

Really heart breaking to see such a great place to close 😞. Me and my family have wonderful memories there and is hard to see it go.

Impressive landscape! And that is the reason we came here to see an old Western-style Nevada town-themed attraction. Too bad we came on a Tuesday (their dark-days) but the staff allowed us to explore for free!
Definitely a must see attraction if you want to get-away from Las Vegas and see something different and unique.

I'm really sad to hear this place will be demolished to make way for yet more unwanted housing to facilitate corporate greed.
This is(was) a great place to get away for a few hours, the restaurant was pretty good with decent prices, the jewel of their menu was most definitely the bison steak and the bison burger, not always available but worth the trip to find out. I've taken my kids there before and it was a great bonding experience, the town was fun to stroll around in and the shows and gun fights were fun. I wish I had gone more often. Oh and the place is haunted...I wonder if the ghosts will stay and haunt the new place....I hope they do....... Lol.... 👻

It says fully operational Wednesday thru Sunday. We are here on a warm December day. The only things open are the things that cost money like the shops. Wax museum is closed. Most exhibits are closed. This is probably the worst attraction for adults I have ever seen. The petting zoo was decent and the kids during busy season might love this place. As for adults, don't bother .

Fun place to go to for the kiddos! There is a crooked house that is fun to walk thru!
Liked the wolf! Right now it's a good time to go since it's not that hot! Did not eat at the restaurant (didn't want to wait 30 mins with 2 kids) BUT the burgers smelled so good!!

The cowboys were great, the atmosphere was incredible. I ate in restaurant, then i my kids went on a 1 hr ride, I went back in restaurant to stay warm and dry from weather. My oldest daughter brought her puppy that is in training for a service dog, for seizures inside bar/restaurant, where the supposed bar/restaurant manager questioned us about puppy, then kicked us out of establishment and off of property. Shame on her and whoever hired her. I'm sure knowing Bonnie, and that being a FAMILY and animal rescue foundation would of never of stood for that. May nothing good happen for the survivors of her. That must be the only job a bar manager can get, treating patrons with disabilities bad. No wonder ur sold and closing.
Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa is a luxurious resort hotel located in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just off the Vegas Strip. It has a large pool, Kids Quest playground, gaming arcade, bowling alley and movie theater.
I didn't realize this hotel has been there over 15 years - everything looks new and has been refreshed. Great location with awesome views. Each time I went to the front desk, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Casino cashiers were super friendly as well. The staff seem to be happy to work there, which says a lot. Rooms are good, nice size with great features. Mine had both a tub and shower, double sinks, which are always appreciated. You don't have to go through the casino to get to the hotel rooms, which was a plus. The restaurants are awesome. Casino is fun and clean. The pool was awesome - lots of places to just relax or use the main pool, which was funky with the levels and center fountain, so fun. There is a movie theater, bowling, kids arcade/games on-site! You can walk across the street to the mall for shopping and even more restaurants. So much to do - you don't have to ever leave!

Very beautiful hotel/resort outside the strip. Love all the chandeliers and crystals. Friendly service. There is even a bellman at the door to open it when you go in and out. Quite fancy. 😄
If you like a casino that doesn't small like smoke then this is great option. They're area you can smell it and some smell very nice and clean.
The spa and pool are lovely as well. The price is also lovely if you know what I mean. 😆

I've visited RR Casino Resort & Spa on several occasions beginning from 2014. Overall, this is a very nice/elegant establishment especially for a Station property. I've tried all the restaurants currently on site to include the ones that are no longer there. This place offers a variety of restaurants for a pseudo-foodie tour, not to mention its luxurious services on site. As a Las Vegas resident, I will say that RR Lanes is probably my favorite bowling alley in the valley. I'll add comments and a rating to their specific Google site. I've never done a staycation here, but I did get to see a room in person. From what I saw, the rooms seem very nice and spacious for a double queen. The one major drawback for me is that every time I play here, I don't feel that the casino host(s), guest services, etc. value their Chairman-level players as much as other Station properties. Also, I never had the opportunity to retrieve the name, but there is a cocktail server that should probably find a different job (something less customer-oriented). And this is not an isolated event either - I brought family and friends after several incidents here to experience it as well to ensure I'm not the one blowing things out of proportion; they all validated my comments. Again, this is only ONE server; the rest of the servers are great! I still highly recommend this place to all visitors and residents; this place is very clean and smells fresh (doesn't smell like wet dog or 80-year old ash trays).

This place has been making me angry ever since I got here.
The primary reason being that I feel constantly manipulated and prodded to spend more money.
For example: There are mini fridges, but you cant put personal items in them without weighted electronic sensors knowing. Brought home leftovers from dinner, had to throw them out. Bought some drinks at the grocery store, cant keep them cold in my room.
Cant bring drinks the (warm cause of no mini fridge) water I bought to the pool, so I'm forced to pay their jacked up prices to buy their drinks inside.
We are paying around $300 / night.
We are buying their extremely overpriced food in their in-house restaurants. And then they reward us for choosing this hotel to spend our money, by trying to squeeze more every time i turn around.
Then just as a matter of personal preference, I find the ambience and vibe unapealling. Trying too hard to be modern and cool. This is the grossest den of consumerism and materialism. Definitely to be expected because it is a Vegas casino, but its helping me to share how much I found it distasteful.

We stayed in a regular king room. It was large and quiet. Everything about the room was very clean and nice. The only complaint I had was with the distance it was from our room to the elevators. There was only one bank of elevators on the floor and it was a very long walk from any room that isn't right by the elevator.
There was a nice selection of restaurants in the resort and lots of places to get a drink, too. The casino was clean and had variety of games and tables.
The pool is beautiful, very large and had several pools. Service at the pool was good, too.

The Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa was the location of a conference I attended and I can definitely say that I'm happy it was!
The whole resort was very nice and the service throughout was very good. There were one or two incidents that would stop me from calling it amazing (and both of them took place within the Lucky Penny restaurant).
Aside from this though, the resort had everything one would need; a sprawling food court with 2 Starbucks, the casino, an absolutely amazing pool deck and a top class spa.
Unfortunately I was not able to partake in everything due to my conference schedule but the things I did do, I thoroughly enjoyed.
My only caveat would be to ask for a room closer to 001 on whichever floor you're on. I had the "good fortune" to be placed in 058 and came to find out on the first night that it was the room at the end of the block. Don't get me wrong, it had a wonderful view and the room itself was quite nice but it was quite a walk from the elevators. At least it helped me get in my steps!
Overall, the resort was really, really, really good and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat if I could.

Visited our daughter over the Thanksgiving Holiday '23 and again RR it didn't disappoint us. Love this place, my daughter loves it and we'll definitely be back. Tables were generous and roulette was hitting! The slots were even doing good by us. The only down side or disappointment was the waitresses not coming around often and when they did, they were a little rude outside of a good time. Hopefully, next time it'll be a great time I'm sure. We may stay here when visiting our daughter, would like to experience the rooms...

I came here and a local trying to have a fun Saturday night with my husband, my daughter and some friends. We came bowling and has a great experience. The food court out side the bowling alley is really good, the food court inside the bowling alley is great as well. We got mozzarella sticks and fries and a couple pitchers of soda that lasted us out whole game. I enjoyed my self so did my friend and family.

The reason I gave it 3 stars...the room was stuffy even with the air and the bathroom should have vents when you get out of the shower...it is so hot and steamy in the bathroom. Also, guests were smoking in the rooms where you actually smelled smoke walking to the elevator. Some people don't smoke. It was enough to smell the smoke in the casino.
The people that worked in the hotel were amazing and always friendly, professional and accommodating. Great job!!!
The food was delicious in the restaurants.

The resort was kept clean. The room was nice. There are plenty of food options. The bowling alley was really cool, the kids enjoyed it. There's even a movie theater if you need a relaxing activity. I love that they enforce masking, it added a sense of well-being to my vacation. The staff was so friendly, especially our housekeeper Suzan. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy.

Beautiful hotel, staff was great and the rooms were nice. Good selection of restaurants in the casino. The only downside is that it’s in the middle of nowhere. It was great for our conference as we really just stayed there and had everything we needed on site. I’ve also been to Vegas many times so traveling to the strip was not part of my plan. But for those that want to see the strip, you’re looking at a good 30-40 minute cab ride just to get there. If being on the strip isn’t important, I’d recommend this resort.

Place is really nice and Family friendly. We originally went there when it opened because the room prices were really nice for what you got even though it was really far from the strip.
But maybe 5ish years ago we stopped going because their room prices went way up close to the premium hotels on the strip like the Wynn. If I am going to pay premium prices and everything is equal except location. I’d of course rather stay on the strip at a Wynn or Caesars Palace level hotel.

Local's places have always been a thing for me and Red Rock Casino properties rate among the best. This property is likely their top spot. Wonderfully designed and laid out with a huge selection of fantastic restaurants, bars and shopping is a very upscale but not terribly expensive price point. Every I interacted with from dealers to hostess, management and room staff were amazing knowledgeable and willing to help. The rooms are a bit pricey for the location, but the amenities out weigh the cost. Make sure you check it out!!

The surroundings are stunning. Great casino and fantastic restaurants. I live in Canada and have stayed at a couple of hotels on the strip over the past several years.. On this trip because I am a senior I wanted to be surrounded by luxury, class and peace and quiet. Red Rock you are the best!!

Check-in for the Hotel is 3pm and we arrived at 5pm. We were told our room will not be ready for another hour. We explained we were meeting family at 6:30 for dinner and needed to shower and change. The options we were given were downgrade to a smaller room and the $50 resort fee would be waived or upgrade to a larger room for $100 more per night plus $50 resort fee. Not much of an option.
Next, the Sheet from the pull-out bed from the sofa had (I hope) just food stains and not blood that it looked like. Housekeeping came to our room at 10pm and changed everything out.
Finally, the shower had a significant leak in the seal and flooded the bathroom. Maintenance was called and it was fixed.
Rough experience.
There are a lot of options in going to Vegas and we picked Red Rock because of a friend’s referral. The resort is beautiful, but the Hotel Staff/Manager at check-in made their fault our issue to resolve.
I will say that the Spa is amazing and was the hit of the visit to Red Rock.

I would give 0 stars if it was possible. The room we booked wasn't what we got. The desk attendant argued with us that we were wrong. The bed wasn't King size - we have a king size at home, that we share with two large dogs, with plenty of room to move around - this bed had no room to move around with just the two of us and no dogs. I am an average height woman and my feet were hanging off of the end of the bed when I woke up. The tub was absolutely filthy, when I went to fill the tub there was a film of muck floating on the surface of the water. We called the desk again to speak with a manager about the bed not being a king bed and, the state of the room. The Manager argued with my husband that it was a king size bed and, literally told him that because we were there for an event we wouldn't be gambling and, she wasn't going to upgrade our room for free because we weren't going to be spending money at the casino. So, we went out of our way to not spend money at the Red Rock! We had already spent 15,000 on the event and accommodations for 2024 and, 25,000 the year before for our wedding and the convention. But we will never, ever give the Red Rock our money again. Our convention may book again but, we personally will not spend another cent at this hotel and Casino!

I've been to this resort several time . Although it's quite a drive from any part of town in Vegas , it's very well worth it . It's always so clean and fresh. My last visit was to it's movie theater. My son and I watched Godzilla vs Kong. We went with the 4d experience. AMAZING! All the effects made it feel as if we were on an amusement ride . All the misters and flashing lights ! The rumbling of the chairs were on point with all the action in the movie ! Highly recommend Red Rock movie theaters.

This place is absolutely wonderful. It is in the suburbs of Las Vegas. From the moment we came to the hotel, we were greeted with beyond exceptional hospitality. Our room was magnificent, and the staff was fabulous. The view of Red Rocky Mountains was out of this world. Just breathe taking. There was so much to do at Red Rock. There was a casino, spa, movie theater, an arcade, and a kids quest for the children. It is only about 25-30mins from the Las Vegas strip. Though the strip is nice, I would not have wanted to spend my stay anywhere else besides at the Red Rock. Thank you for my first and best experience being in Las Vegas. I can't wait to come back with my entire family.🥰💕✨️

We had a wonderful stay here! Everywhere was clean, rooms didn’t smell like smoke at all. Spa was fantastic and all of our food was so delicious and fresh! They closed the buffet. took away the $2 Margaritas. and $1 dollar beers during games. No more specials at the cafe. The prices at the restaurants have increased dramatically. The bowling special for seniors went from $6 to $9. A beer at the bowling bar is $9.50. Went to Yard house Restaurant. Waited 15 minutes for the waiter. Grilled cheese sandwich and ice tea $25. Said thank you to the waiter 5 times and he never said your welcome. We said hi to a employee at the bowling alley with no response. Asked her a question no response. Was she death...no She was wearing ear plugs. Went to the restroom and the stall was filthy. Pee and trash covered the floor and toilet. Only one paper dispenser to dry your hands had paper. The other 3 empty. Witnessed 4 people walking in the casino with PJ's on at 1pm! After the lock downs everything turned to s$%#. Such a beautiful resort. What a shame. It's a ultra high line resort now. Chasing away the huge senior population that surround it. Your average family cant afford it. The worst part is they charge way over for everything you'd think the employees would treat customers better and the bathrooms would be spotless. I want the old Red Rock back. Who are the people in charge? People who want to make money over customer satisfaction that's who.

Visited this location with my husband for a simple date night. Very quick line and excellent service at the gaming counter. Machines were great, up to date with good payouts. The drinks were strong, flowed freely, and I didn't have to chase anyone down to get them. The facilities were very clean and well kept. After playing the machines we ventured into Leslie's BBQ for an AMAZING dinner... We are from the south send judge BBQ very very harshly and when I say it was good, it was GOOD. Except the Mac n cheese which was absolute trash. We will definitely be back to the casino as well as Leslie's.

Several staff members hovered around our table as they kept trying to remove dishes as we were still eating. There were several open tables and no waiting guests so I was not sure of the urgency. The portions compared to the prices were skimpy. I had the ricotta gnocchi, the flavor was fine and the presentation was great however the portion was skimpy for the price. I did enjoy the tempura seafood dish. Personally I would not return.

This is NOT a five star hotel.
I have stayed in two star hotels that were better than this.
I am not usually one to complain. This is actually the first negative review I have ever written on google in my life (you can see my review history). Not only were the rooms awful, their customer service was a billion times even worse than that. At first I thought it was just the night shift person having a hard day or something so I let it go, but when I went to ask the morning shift people to help us sort out some of the issues, they acted exactly the same way. I'm non-confrontational, so it took a lot of problems for me to even go talk to them in the first place; they were very rude; I thanked them for their time and then went back to the hotel room and cried my eyes out for like an hour, they were so rude.
They charged us an $800 nightly rate (plus an additional couple hundred for taxes and fees) for a cramped room with two queen beds and a view of the parking garage, no mountains, no strip. Their website is a lie. I am never staying here again, and I am in talks with my husband's company about changing their policy of putting people up here.
Oh, and they don't even have basic amenities in their rooms that even two star hotels have, like a coffee maker, or a mini-fridge, or a microwave. And they'll charge you through the nose to buy your own coffee from their restaurant or for room service. Also the drinks and snacks that they have for purchase up in the room are on a weighted platform so that if you even just pick it up to look at it, it will automatically charge you for it. Beware!
Also just as a cherry on top, they charge fees that are illegal according to both Federal and Nevada state laws.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
The company who put us up here offered to get me a free spa pass to make up for the bad experience, but then it turns out their hot tub is broken, most other amenities are closed, and you have to pay ridiculous prices in addition to the pass to actually get any services done at the spa. So basically a free spa pass is just a way to try to put you in a position of shilling out even more cash for overpriced services that I can go elsewhere and pay an honest company a reasonable price to do for me just down the street.
Do NOT book here. I have no idea where all their good reviews are coming from, but at this point I strongly suspect most of them are fake.
There are airbnbs that are luxury mansions for a lower price just blocks down the street if you want to go to the casino here. Do that instead, or better yet, avoid Red Rock all together.
I'm stuck here for another couple days, since they won't let me cancel at this point. I will update this review if it gets better, but I'm not holding my breath.

Nice hotel with everything inside. The hotel had a casino, movie theater, restaurants, bars, bowling alley, some shopping and a Starbucks!!!
You don't have to leave the hotel unless you want to go Downtown or to the Strip.
The only reason that I am not giving 4 or 5 stars in service was because I was ignored by a bartender (someone in my party had to ordered a drink because for some reason the bar tender just kept missing my call for assistance). I also had a hard time getting into a private event (even though I had my company's badge on) at the bowling alley. I had to step back because the "gate keeper" guy almost grabbed me when he put his hands up to keep me from going inside. Someone from my company waived at me so "gate keeper" let me pass. Again- I was wearing my name badge.
If you love the color red and glitzy things- you will definitely enjoy this hotel. Check in and check out was a breeze. Also, if you aren't able to check in early- there is a 24 hour restaurant that has great food.

First time staying off the strip this was a good option especially for the price. We stayed on the canyon side and this is very convenient if you want to hit those trails. Rooms were clean and the tub and canyon view was nice. I will say that for our first visit it was exceptionally difficult finding the front desk to check in. Maybe its just us but the signage was not intuitive if you aren't using the valet service.

I had an enjoyable trip to Las Vegas and stayed at this hotel. The room was clean, decent size and with views of the mountains. My complaint is that the room did not have a mini fridge or coffee maker. This is a problem across Las Vegas and not just at this hotel. They also only provide hand soap for the bathroom and no body wash or shampoo for the shower. I bring my own anyway so it doesn't bother me but others do use it. Room service was fast. Valet was friendly with no issues. Check out and check in fairly quick. Pool area looked nice from above but I did not visit.

They have good choices in their food court and restaurants. Haven't stayed in their rooms yet but I imagine they're amazing.
The Aliante Casino Hotel Spa is a beautiful hotel and casino with various entertainment options on the grounds. The casino is especially praised for its variety, and guests are also impressed by the beautifully decorated interior. The outside is filled with palm trees, making it an attractive destination in itself.
We’ve stayed at Aliante many times. We used to live in the area but each time we go back to Vegas for a visit, we stay here. Rooms are excellent. Service is great. The staff is always friendly and courteous, and they give a generous military discount. Have stayed in one other hotel in the area, just for a change, but I’ll always call Aliante my home away from home when I’m visiting my kids in Vegas. It’s superb.

This resort needs another twenty years for the community to continue to grow around it. While the casino is clean and we'll kept, there is NOTHING at the Aliante to pull you to it's location. There's no Poker Room. Maybe a dozen live tables including two blackjack, one roulette and then the rest are variations of table games that most don't play. There are not many slot machines though they try to give you a mix of titles. They allow people to hangout at slot machines chairs which baffles me. I can't play those machines if you allow guests to use the chairs when not playing. Perhaps in the future when more people populate the North Vegas area this casino will up their game. Until then, save your money and go anywhere else. The "Same but less" would be accurate in describing this resort. Not that Aliante is bad rather it's young and still needs to grow. If however you want to get away from everything... This is your spot!

Basically it's Boyd's version of Station's Red Rock. Upscale. It's really nice and modern, very large, great layout, great games and food options. If you play Video Poker and on vacation and have a rental car, it's worth the trip! Boyd has the best casinos in Vegas. Don't know anything about their comps, but as far as quality of the games and experience, it's Five Stars!

Everything is within reach. The outside, palm trees everywhere. It is amazing!!! Please don't forget to pay this place a visit you will never regret it.

This was a great newer hotel and resort in North Las Vegas! The rooms were nicely appointed with nice bathrooms and a clean and opened casino floor. The food was also great as well as the service. The only downside is that the pool is seasonal and they close it starting in November, but you still pay the same resort fee. Not sure how that's fair... But it is what it is. I would definitely stay here again!

The staff was kind. I liked that the location was away from the downtown area yet had many shopping, entertainment, and eating options. The room is clean and comfortable. There is a small fridge and nothing else. We got a “mountain” view room and we really couldn’t see anything. It’s not worth the extra cost. The parking lot by the hotel side is usually full so we’d need to park on the far side which was a bit of a trip. Not a bad place to stay.

My favorite off-strip hotel in the entire city of Vegas! Casino is large & clean, and the location itself is perfect and beautiful! There's also a Friday's next to the entrance. The movie theater is also spacious and clean. There's also a separate entrance for the casino and the hotel, making navigation 10x easier. I highly recommend Aliante

I live in the North Las Vegas area where this casino is situated. So it is very convenient should I feel the urge to play some video slots or dine at the food court or at one of their many restaurants. They even have a movie theatre but I have not yet had the chance to check out. The casino is not as noisy, crowded or smokey as others in the north part of Vegas and definitely not as congested as Downtown or The Strip. So if you are into quiet gaming without having to wait for your favorite machine then this is the place for you. And there is a drugstore and a strip mall within walking distance if you decide to stay at the hotel from out-of-state. Overall, I enjoy going to this casino.

Stayed here for a work trip recently. The hotel is very impressive. The rooms are really nice, quiet, and comfortable. The shower was really nice particularly. There were multiple dining options, all of which were great. The pool was nice, as the casino, honestly I have no complaints. Worth a visit if you are in Vegas but don’t wanna stay on the strip!

We love playing paper only bingo here. Currently it's 3 days (M-W) and 3/5 pm sessions. Most of the people playing are friends or acquaintances that live locally. It's a more family-like environment. And the Bingo employees make you feel at home. Please consider extending the paper only sessions to 7 days a week.

Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Good food choices. Big gambling floor. Everything was clean. Convenient parking. Not a good location for Las Vegas. It is at the very edge of the desert. If you want to be 30 minutes from Everything you go to Vegas for, this is your place.

Great hotel away from the strip and has everything you need to enjoy a getaway. The rooms are nice and the staff were always friendly. The buttons for maid service by the door was easier than using a do not disturb sign. The pool might have ruined me for all other pools.

Overall, staff was very kind. The valets were extremely welcoming and helpful every night of our stay. Probably the best amenity of this hotel. However, there were a few things about our room that didn’t meet expectations. The doorway to get into the shower is extremely high, not disabled or short people friendly. We needed help getting in and out and a member of our group ended up cutting themselves on the doorway pretty deep. Our sink was clogged and the vent in the bathroom wasn’t working. 4 people using one bathroom with no working vent was definitely not ideal.
When checking out, we ordered a bell hop to assist with our luggage. The majority of our group got extremely sick and were not able to carry out bags. The bell hop still assisted us but proceeded to tell us that there were people who needed it more. That we were not elderly or less able bodied. I did not know the hotel had preferences on age and disability when assisting. Will probably not stay here again.

Decided to take a ride to the NW side of Vegas. I'm glad I did! The Aliente Hotel and Casino was a pleasant surprise. It's a Boyd property. Very modern looking and clean. Friendly staff and a good selection of slot machines. Decent size table game area. There is no buffet, but there is a food court and several restaurants.

We stayed eight day while we cleaned and emptied my fathers house. The room was clean and quiet and REALLY appreciated the coffee machine and bottle water. Also like the easy parking and straight shot up to the room. We ate at the Mexican restaurant and enjoyed the happy hour and hit the Dairy Queen a couple of times....got noisy Sat night in the rooms but I think there was a wedding party around us. Good stay and exceeded my expectations

Very nice casino hotel. Very large casino floor. Lots of slots, but we noticed that it was a lot of the same slots just in different locations on the casino. The room we had was very nice it was non smoking and it had been cleaned it still smelled slightly of disinfectant. The hotel lobby is separated from the casino by a very nicely appointed hallway. When in the lobby you'd never know there is also a casino. IMO a very high class vibe. There are regular restaurants and a food court if you just want a quick snack. Anyway, we liked it and will probably go again. It's outside of Vegas so traffic in the area isn't a concern. Also not far by freeway to the outskirts of downtown (hwy 95) or you can jump on the 15 to access most of the blvds that will take you to the strip.

Staying at the hotel is fantastic. The casino not so much. Since it is the only one in this area their minimums are much higher than other surrounding casinos. Station casinos are much better for gambling. If you want a clean room with above average service definitely stay here. Be aware their room rates are higher than normal too. Once again.... not much competition close by.

The rooms were nice but the bathroom wasn’t very spacious. There was a weird drilling noise throughout the entire night, so sleep was not really a thing. The service, however, was great all around! Had breakfast at the Farm and the food was pretty good as well as the service for the restaurant. It was kind of a drive from the main city, so we would probably stay here only when other closer options are all booked up. Slots were friendly though so if you’re looking for a good place to try your luck, then it’s worth the drive for sure.

I went to their spa for a massage. Lacy greeted me and was very friendly and professional. She took me to where I changed and then waited in the spa room. The facility is immaculately clean and comfortable. Coffee, water, and snacks are offered for refreshment. My therapist then took me to the room and performed an incredibly effective deep tissue massage. The environment was quiet, calm, and relaxed. Celine was extremely professional and provided me with the perfect massage for my shoulder issue. Overall, it was an incredibly positive experience. I live locally, so I will be back!

Love Aliante spa! We are locals and use this spa for couples massages. Using the spa also grants access to the gym and pool. You're allowed to come early if you want to work out before your massage! They have nice showers, lockers, and any toiletry you'd need. The masseuses are great too. Perfect place to relax.

So enjoyable! The staff is amazing, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the casino is well maintained and attended to. There's a few nice places to dine at, a movie theatre, and a small arcade. Bingo is so much fun here! You will be happy you stopped by! :)

Booked a Spa Package for my wife’s birthday, was supposed to be a surprise but 2 days before her appointment and Birthday they cancelled the service on me. Now Im left with no way to book another appointment before her big day unless I wanna pay double the price on the strip, and move around all the reservations I’ve already made for her day. They offered me 30 percent off the next time I booked, why would I book again when you did this right before her birthday? Great first impression on a new customer.

Came here to see the Follies and stayed to do a little gambling with my husband. Unfortunately if you’re not white and straight and quiet you are not welcome at Aliante. The focus at Aliante Casino is don’t win and if you do win stay very quiet. Having a great time playing slots and the security came and corrected us for our behavior? Excuse me? Quite sure that sitting in a chair and having a good time is not a problem. But it is at Aliante Casino. We will definitely not be coming back. If you’re looking for a place to have fun downtown is the place to go. Definitely not Aliante Casino. If you do come be sure not to talk with your neighbors and definitely don’t seem like you’re having a good time.

Booked a room for 1 night and I’m beyond pleased. The room was very clean and well kept. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Also the price was affordable for the quality you get. I highly recommend staying here. I know I will be back for a staycation. And it is right off the 215, very convenient location. Thank you Aliante for exceeding standards.

Loved the room. The shower was the best, nice water pressure. There were room attendants every morning but only 1 in 4 days cleaned my room and I had to ask for coffee for my coffee machine. Beautiful view of Mt Charleston as well. Security at the elevators were very polite but the certain people at the front desk were a little snooty. But I had a nice time at the Hotel. The casino on the other hand...very tight machines.

I honestly was very disappointed in the overall service from Aliante hotel. I booked a night that I had originally put the dates for April. Upon submitting payment I realized that the date defaulted back the the current date… my mistake absolutely for not confirming before I hit submit. I promptly contacted the hotel within minutes of the error and was told the reservation had not shown up yet and to call back in an hour. I did that, but then was told they could not cancel per their policy. I told them I did not need to cancel, I just needed to rebook for a different date… they stated they could not. Of course this is a “we have your money now, too bad so sad” type deal because I wasn’t saying I wanted a refund, I would have gladly paid any difference, I just needed a different date.
Luckily I live in Vegas (this was a staycation for April) and so instead of wasting $140, I gathered up my 4 year old for one on one time with him.
We arrived and the front desk was a little passive aggressive when I casually mentioned the situation.
I will say security was very very nice!
We got to the room and honestly upon initial inspection it looked great. Went to the bathroom and the tub was dirty and there was hair on my towel (different color so we knew it was not from us). There was a big red stain on the floor in the room that I am unsure of what the contents were, and a sticky white substance by the desk.
It just felt icky to me, on top of an already bad interaction from the hotel.
I am usually the type who passively just lets things be how they are because I do not enjoy conflict or complaining, but sitting at home now after this experience I truly felt compelled to write this review.
As a local I am very upset with how Aliante handled this experience.. I am upset with the quality of the room for the price.
Security should receive kudos because they were the nicest part of the trip even if just me showing them my key card.
I have to be honest, this will be my last stay at this hotel and I will tell friends and business colleagues to stray away from Aliante themselves or recommending to others for their poor customer service and quality of the room.

This was my first stay at the Alicante. This was a business trip. The hotel was clean and provided room service daily without requesting it. The shower is awesome. The check-in and check-out process was average. There are multiple restaurants on site. The only true plant-based options noted were salads and possibly chips and salsa. I was awakened at 1 o’clock in the morning by loud music at a club level volume. Though the walls are extremely thin, the previous two nights were peaceful.
