How long is the drive from Lone Pine to Fresno?
The direct drive from Lone Pine to Fresno is 279 mi (449 km), and should have a drive time of 4 hrs 42 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Lone Pine to Fresno, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Darwin Falls and Borax Visitor Center, or the ever-popular Trona Pinnacles.
The top stops along the way from Lone Pine to Fresno (with short detours) are Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, and The Big Red Barn, Murray Family Farms. Other popular stops include Tehachapi Railroad loop, Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey, and Kern River Rafting - Momentum River Expeditions.
Trona Pinnacles is a remarkable site located in the California Desert National Conservation Area, featuring over 500 towering tufa spires. The otherworldly landscape consists of odd pinnacles of calcium carbonate rising from an alkaline lake, creating a haunting and unique setting. While there are no facilities at the site, it offers a cool spot for desert camping and exploration.
Awesome weekend getaway. Who would know this place existed. Great place to explore and camp. Perfect spot to stargazing. Another spot adds to our Fav 😍 place to camp. Just make sure [leave it better than when you found it]. LEAVE NOT TRACE BEHIND. So the next generation will still enjoy this natures wonder.

Very cool spot off the highway. Worth a drive to check it out - it’s 5miles from the highway on a dirt road. 2 wheel drive vehicles are fine to get you there, however the path around the pinnacles gets confusing and you could easily end up on some more difficult roads. I recommend parking and taking the walking trail if you’re in a 2 wheel drive vehicle. Impressively, the pinnacles are leftover from a time this area was underwater. We saw people camping off in the distance, and lots of 4x4 and dirt bikes.

The Trona Pinnacles are a very unique site to see if you're into desert camping. I visited in April 2021 and loved camping alone and exploring the Mars landscape. There is only one pit toilet and it's not very clean. Bring your own toilet paper. There is also no water anywhere, so bring that too. It can get cold at night and is windy pretty much every time I've gone out there, but it's nice to get away from everything. Camp anywhere, just not on the road (yes, I've seen people do this).

This place is highly memorable. Strange creations of rock. I wish it was at least a little more "touristy" i.e. there is nothing here. Just the attraction, i think there is 1 bathroom as well.
Melvin Thomas — Google review
Simply amazing, other than the meat heads acting like chimpanzees. Stars and landscape are awesome. Sulfur smell is present and coyotes like to visit camp at night, so take care to clean up and LNT. Great launch point to DV and the rest of the Mojave

Trona is in an other dimension and in another planet. Enjoy getting lost until you find yourself in Trona!

Beautiful and otherworldly. At night it got really windy and we unfortunately couldn’t stay as the winds were too strong. We plan to return 🙂
Carlos Mendez — Google review
Awesome desert area with tall spires, very scenic, dirt road and getting there can be confusing, don’t rely on Google maps - make sure you know where you’re going, good thing is there is still cell reception there. Have thick tires.

This is a cool spot to check on your way to dead valley. This is how I planned my trip. Traveled here one day camped and headed over to the national park the day after. There are no facilities here and it can get windy at night. The bad part about this is the people not really the place. People playing music until late at night I am talking 1 am and others with super bright lights that covered the entire area. How do you enjoy nature like that? On the positive it is a cool place to explore and camp. There are wild donkeys in the area. The stars look amazing at night and the place is big enough that you can find a quiet spot away from the rude campers. The place is also patrolled by the rangers so it gives you a sense of security as well. As far as what car can make it here. Any car can make it to the entrance depending on the weather of course. But the back roads should not be taken unless you have a 4x4 or high clearance. If you have a camper can stay to the entrance area.
Jorge Lopez — Google review
A bit of a rough road for an old truck and camper but worth the drive. Camped there a good few days. Spots were spaced well. Fun area to explore.
Amy Hope — Google review
Rough road to get all the way back there but worth the effort. Large campsites. Truck and trailer fit no problem.
Kelly Wisdom — Google review
I have been here many times. Although there is some light pollution at night, it is very suitable for shooting stars.
Matt G — Google review
Another bucket list dispersed camping spot. It feels desolate and very remote, and awe inspiring. It has tons of camping spots all around the pinnacles and tends to get pretty busy. It may be hard to find a well sheltered, private and level spot. It also tends to get very windy. Blow your tent away windy. Fires are allowed.
During the Pleistocene, massive runoff spilled from the Sierra Nevada into a chain of inland seas. The system of interconnected lakes stretched from Mono Lake to Death Valley and included Searles Lake.
Deep beneath Searles Lake, calcium-rich groundwater and alkaline lake water combined to grow tufa formations. Similar (modern) formations can be found today at Mono Lake to the north.
Known as tufa pinnacles, these strange shapes formed underwater 10,000 to 100,000 years ago. The pinnacles did not all form at the same time. They are divided by age and elevation into three groups. The groups are dubbed the northern, middle, and southern groups because they formed during the three ice ages.
With a height of 80 feet, Darwin Falls is the highest waterfall in Death Valley National Park. It is accessible via a hike and its lush canyon vegetation is said to add to the adventurous feel of the hike.
Darwin Falls in Death Valley National Park is an incredible place to visit. I went in November of 2022 after the heavy rain storms and it was fantastic. Seeing an oasis with a rushing waterfall and creek in a dry desert was amazing. The hike was maybe a mile or so long from the parking area and was a little wet and muddy due to the recent heavy rains but well worth it. Highly recommend if visiting Death Valley.
Brendan Kiely — Google review
Nice short hike. The main problem is the ~2 miles of terrible road to the trailhead. The trail itself is easy but muddy and requires jumping over shallow streams, hence it might be infeasible for people with disabilities. The falls are not as beautiful as death valley's main attractions, so you should stop here only if you are staying in the area for multiple days.
Leno — Google review
Fantastic trail, wonderful scenery at the end. We had it all to ourselves, too!
Qadgop the Mercotan — Google review
Must drive through gravel and bumpy road. Any car is fine for the road but must drive slowly to get to the trailhead. On the trail, have to cross over small streams. The trail becomes muddy in the winter and some rocks can be slick and slippery. My left foot has slipped and landed in the stream.
Then have to climb over some rocks to see the waterfall. Don’t expect to see some grand waterfall like Nevada/vernal falls. This is not a big waterfall and I would not have expected it in a place like Death Valley so it is impressive in a way.
Glow — Google review
Darwin Falls is a 18-foot spring-fed waterfall in the western part of Death Valley National Park near Panamint Springs. The access road from CA-190 is a rough gravel road and best with high clearance. From the small trailhead, the trail leads up Darwin Wash. Initially, the hike is through desert and doesn't seem like there should be a waterfall. About a half-mile into the hike, there will be a little bit of water and start to see more vegetation. Soon, there are willow trees and a flowing stream. The trail ends at the scenic little waterfall that flows year round. The spray from the falls allows ferns and other greenery to grow all around the falls and makes a beautiful oasis. We really enjoyed this hike and it was very unique to hike to a lush oasis in Death Valley.
Justin P — Google review
I drove 3.5 hours to check out Darwin Falls. When I got to the turn off the road was completely gone. I assume from the rains earlier in the year. It would have been nice if there were some signs along thus highway saying thus area is closed. Don't go there! You will not be able to access the road.
Chris Helvie — Google review
Unexpected, year round waterfall in Death Valley. Easy, level hike, about 1.5 miles with quite a lot of shade. However, there has been a rockfall close to the waterfall blocking the path. The waterfall is only accessible via a serious scramble over the rocks and is not possible for folks with limited mobility.
David Hoare — Google review
Hidden gem in the middle of the desert. Such a surreal and stunning place! Takes quite a while to get there (the 2mi road took us >30 min due to its condition) but it's so much worth it! Since this is an important ecosystem for the animals around, please treat it with respect and care!
Sarah — Google review
The falls at the end of the trail are awesome. However, for the adventurous a bit of rock climbing will take you to the upper falls which are spectacular.
George — Google review
The fall isn't too big but still worth the hike there. It's a mile hike, can be tricky depending on the route you take

Borax Visitor Center

Visitor center
Impressive corporate Visitor Center with a complete history of the mine and the minerals in the area and includes a good video presentation. Anyone traveling through the area should make a point to stop in, especially if you visited Death Valley!
Wayne Clark — Google review
Interesting visit to this museum. We had bonuses about this place but got a tip from a former employee who now works at a pizza place. Nice display about the history of the mining operation and the current work being done here. A new platform outside gives a great view of the whole open pit and surrounding industry. There was a guide there who could tell interesting things about the place and the shop was a nice surprise with loads of fun things to buy (50% geology related of course). Takes about 1-2 hours to visit but definitely worth it if you happen to pass by.
Steven Bron — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised with this visitors center. We were welcomed right away and given information. The center feels more like a museum, well made. There is a bunch of neat displays to look at. There is a lite gift shop with a nice assortment of things. I recommend this place for old and young.

So impressive I went to see so nice there recommended this place museum borax. Showing great historical and educational Video auditorium.
Rene Sandoval — Google review
I had the best time learning more about boron, 20 Mule Team, and this incredible mining operation. The visitor's center is put together very well, the gift shop is great, and most importantly the staff were so courteous and informative. You get a spectacular view of California's biggest open pit mine, and can watch the gargantuan machinery at work. Really cool!
Drew R — Google review
Free admission to this well curated visitors center. Short video as well as a gift shop and information about the development of the mine and its current operations.
John Espinosa — Google review
Small visitor center but packed with information. 15 minute video on the company and site. They have views of the pit which is huge. It’s a nice place to stop and stretch and learn something new.
Lila Keeley — Google review
A highlight location whenever visiting Boron, CA. This mine is the largest open-pit mine in California and the 2nd largest Borax mine in the world providing 1/3 of the world's supply of Borax. Several fun photo opportunities available (Pit Mine Overlook, Giant Truck, Giant Tire, Life-sized Original 20-Mule Team Wagon, etc) and several piles of rocks in the parking lot where you can even gather your own borates. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with both Marlon and Elsie making our experience memorable in their own ways. Couple this visit with Boron's 20-Mule Team Museum for a more thorough understanding of the history of the local area.

Great stopover to take a break. Even in place of the nearby rest area. Learn a bit of history. You prob have some product in your closet.

My husband did a commercial for 20 mule team as a baby, so this was a great side trip! The visitor center is great, history mining museum and great views inside the mine. Staff was so very friendly and informative!

I've always knew about Borax, but stopping here and learning about the mine and the process was great! Love the visitors center and being able to see the mine and the plant and learnthe history!
Educational museum providing history exhibits on the Mojave Desert, petroglyph tours & a gift shop.
Lovely little museum with lots to discover. Was incredibly intrigued at the small door in the corner next to the taxidermy puma. Perfect fit, if not in need of a spot of WD-40. Greatly enjoyed the contents within.
Jonah was very helpful and informative, even providing several entertaining stories of his great-aunt's exploits during the Cod Wars. I had no idea the intense role taxidermy played in winning.
Five out of five tiny, rent-free, oh-so-easy to slip into the warm walls from, doors.

We came here to escape the heat and was pleasantly surprised. Great artifacts and information. The woman working is named Nora and she was so friendly and gave us great places to explore around the area. There were great brochures and information you can take with info on hiking, camping, bird watching, etc. Their gift shop was also very cute

We love our local museum. It is small, but it has a lot to offer the community. We appreciate the children's activities that they hold monthly, and the other evening events (including star gazing events). We are lucky to have such a great place in our small town!♥️
Christina MacGregor — Google review
Worth the $5 fee to tour around the exhibits that range from local animals and geology to mining history and a small exhibit on the sidewinder. Also an art gallery and gift shop, but that wasn’t my favorite part. Really liked learning about earthquakes and other types of salt mining.

Nice place. Very interesting facts about town and mining. Met a very lovely lady who works there Nora. She was very informative and so sweet. My sister and I talked to her for like 20 min or so. Sometimes they have crafts for the kids as well.
Kitty Davis — Google review
Small/Mid Size museum with a lot of information on local history, wildlife and art. A lot of fun with friends or family or just alone. Resources available in the gift shop for places to travel and visit. I was especially happy to see old photos of Ridgecrest and very nice ceramic art for sale (priced very reasonably) The gift shop is also full of goodies. FREE ADMISSION - second SATURDAY of every month!
Brian Wangenheim — Google review
Very small place but had some nice artifacts of the town and its history.
Photography room was played out a bit oddly alongside the small corridor with more information.
The animals and display of minerals was nice with an area for kids to interact and play.
The gallery room was full of art that was interesting.
I wish the gift shop sold key rings of the metal men outside.
Really cool spot that is IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Honestly, you will drive for about 30 minutes without seeing anybody or anything, and then you’ll come upon this little church. I think they have surveillance cameras because there’s been a lot of visitors since the movie, but it looks just like it did on camera. So cool, old and vintage. A must visit for any Tarantino fan.
Pete Marchica — Google review
I loved it here!! The owner of the church was so sweet! She gifted us a signed book and a large poster of the Ten Commandments for our living room (so kind!!). I really did wish that the big truck wasn’t blocking the entrance but it was a great experience, we enjoyed the mini history tour of the church too. The owner will answer literally every question you’d have. Please beware that there’s a dog on the premises.
Ashley N G — Google review
We had an incredible experience and were lucky enough to get a tour and presentation from the Pastor. When we arrived, we were happy to take pictures with the truck parked out front, but the Pastor was kind enough to move the truck and take photos of us in front of the building.
Highly recommend but manage expectations as to whether the Pastor will be available.
Ben Wignall — Google review
July 2021-Please do not waste your time or gas. This church does not welcome visitors and is not tourist friendly. The church has a wired rope with signs all around saying “Warning-No Trespassing ” and another one that says “Prayers is the best way to meet the Lord. Trespassing is faster (with a picture of a gun pointing at you). There’s a truck parked right in front preventing visitors from taking pictures. Clearly the owner of the church does not want people there. Let’s respect that. Besides the drive was horrible. You drive in the desert for about 15 miles. It’s a remote area and you may lose your phone/internet signal (I did). The desert has been taken over by homeless encampments 🙏🏽 . The drive and the remote surroundings are not safe. I’m a women and drove my kids out there & I was frightened. 😱 I hope this helps . Blessings!

Definitely worth the trip.
Paster is super chill & everything inside is worth of view especially if your a fan of cinema.

Super cool! Make sure to be there when Pastor Oscar is there! He will not only move the truck out of the way AND assist with photos, but he explains the cool history of the building.
Antonia Vail (Amarva) — Google review
The drive here was only 35 minutes for me.
The directions were perfect.
The only down fall for me was this truck parked right in front of the church, it seems to be a tourist attraction now, so that’s probably why.
Still would’ve been nice to get some front shots. I did manage to get some pictures.
It is the real deal from kill bill “Massacre at Two pines”
K wright — Google review
What an experience! The owners gave us a tour and history of the space which has been tweaked and refined by the film industry over the past few decades. Fascinating and well worth going here if you are travelling from LA to Las Vegas
Rhodri Thomas — Google review
This is an active church and is roped off with signs No Trespassing. However, if you are lucky, the pastor may let you in and he will give you a tour as he did for us and other on the day we visited. He was a very nice guy. This is the church that was featured in one of the main scenes on one of the Kill Bill volumes. Some of the buildings across the street are also used for movie sets. Also across the street, is a rock known as Elephant Rock. This place is a little ways out from main civilization, but to me, it was worth the trip, especially since we were granted a tour and got to see the inside. The looks on the outside are a little deceiving...the structure on the interior is just awesome, especially if you like that sort of thing.
Rick Simper — Google review
The property is now private, it’s covered in trash and signs and they blocked the view of the front with a large truck
Chase Haylee — Google review
I had the opportunity to attend the church in Lancaster, CA where the movie Kill Bill was shot, and I must say it was a unique and memorable experience. The church has a rich history and is known for its role in the movie, which added to the appeal for me as a fan of Quentin Tarantino's work.
The location of the church is quite impressive, with stunning architecture and a beautiful interior.
I was impressed with the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff and congregation were friendly and hospitable, and I felt at ease from the moment I entered the doors.
I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the church's unique background.
Overall, I highly recommend this church to anyone in the area looking for a meaningful and memorable experience. The combination of rich history, stunning architecture, and warm hospitality make it a must-visit for anyone with an interest in religious or cultural landmarks
Great friendly brewery to visit, and plenty of sodas for the kids!
These are a great value here, pick up a bunch to enjoy later!
Beer enthusiasts be warned, it's easy to go crazy in here, so many selections. You can get a beer flight for 10 bucks and see what you like best!

I will not give them business anymore because of the rude woman at the counter today. We were enjoying the nice spring day and at 4:54 pm she came out to tell us "you have to come pay your bill NOW". Because there was a line then, my friend went to the restroom first. After I paid the lady said "just one more to go" so I let her know my friend would be right out. She answered with "she should have paid first." Then as my friend came out of the restroom, she started picking up the beer and soda bottles she had planned to buy. The counter lady yelled at her "hurry up!" So my friend decided to set the items down and not purchase. There are polite ways to hurry customers out at closing time and this was NOT!!!

Not sure how anyone could not 5 stars. This is our got to place in the desert. Very friendly and knowledgeable and their products.
They have a great outdoor area and are pet friendly people. This place is worth driving out of your way for.
A beautiful volcanic landscape with a stone waterfall that has resisted thousands of years of erosion, is definitely worth a visit. Don't forget outdoor shoes, they will pay off even just for the few hundred yards from the parking lot to the waterfall.

Really cool and small area to check out when passing by. The drive in is easy as well as the short hike to see fossil falls from the top. Actually walking down into the falls area shows you how unique the rock formations are. Bring a pen with you if you’d like to leave your name in the box at the start of the trail. Once you park it’s only a .21 mile hike.

At the end of the last ice age, the Owens river was a raging torrent and carved a waterfall and chasm in some very hard basalt. It is now dry as the Owens river follows a different course, hence it is a "fossil" fall. Great scenery, small campground and day use area. Due to all the basalt boulders and rocks, the short trail is very rough and is not suitable for very young children, disabled and frail elderly. Watch out for rattlesnakes! Almost stepped on one and it rattled and then made it's escape. We visited in spring, lots of greenery and flowers. Very hot in summer, snowed in during winter.

Bunch of ancient lava everywhere, there's obsidian all over the ground. There's also a small red extinct volcano near by. Hiking down the lava tubes was real fun . I also saw some native American pictographs in one of the lava tube chambers.

A definite must see if you enjoy desert scenery, national parks, hiking or just want to go somewhere new. They have a visitor center with a gift shop, day use and even camping. There are trails you can hike as well near by which take you back into some beautiful rocks formations. It reminds me of a miniature grand canyon. Plus there are plenty of crevices in the rock formations you can go in and explore.

Rocks were definitely red! In all seriousness though, this place was quiet, and definitely worth the drive. It was pretty hot so we didn't hike far, but the landscape and rocks are totally awesome to see as someone who's never been to any kind of desert before! I will note, the visitors centre was closed even though the hours on the door were listed as it being open, but they had maps you could take for free so we were able to find our way around fine. Also, they had nice off-roading trails as well. Nice place!

It was more than a 2hrs drive for me to get to but I went on Christmas day and there were very little traffic. I went hiking with my dog and it was a pleasant day to do so. I was only hiking at the entrance area because dogs are not allowed on trails. Didn't drive further into where the camp ground was. I got there late in the afternoon so the sun was about to set. It's worth stopping by.

Can you believe it? All of what we see now used to be under water, the entire area was at the bottom of a massive lake millions of years ago! We passed through Red Rock Canyon on our way to Mammoth lake. Not gonna lie, I wanted to come when we were on our way back from Death Valley a couple of months ago, but we didn't have enough time to stop by. So, I feel like I had to plan for a visit this time, and luckily, it turned out amazing. The camel rock reminds me of Cappadocia in Turkey, and the Turk's turban rock looks even more beautiful in person. We didn't have time to check out window rock this time, but I feel like Red Rock Canyon would be a great destination for RV camping and stargazing. How lucky we have such an amazing place in Cali, and it's only less than 3 hours away from LA!

Amazing geology, beautiful painted desert! You can drive and park right next to the rock formations, so family members who can't really hike will enjoy this spot. It's part of my favorite day-trip loop with family and friends. I take some folks in my Jeep, driving from Tehachapi - Bakersfield - Kern River Canyon - Lake Isabella - Red Rock Park - and end at the Windmills by California City. If you time it right, you can get the color of Red Rock just as the sun sets, then the windmills just after sunset. These photos of Red Rock are just before sunset, and a wildfire haze made a surreal pinkish hue in the sky.

Nightmare Gulch Loop Trail - it’s 9 miles hiking course. There is no restroom. You may have to find out how you can void. You will see two directions at the beginning of trail. If you choose right side, you will face to long slope after walking 4 miles. It’s not that hard but hard. If you don’t like it, turn left. It’s great trail. You may feel walking on the other planet. Little scare cuz you may not meet people while hiking.

Amazing red rock formation. If you drive through I-14, stop for a moment for this park, you will not be regret. There is no park entry to collect fee, you pay for your stay at visitor center. Red Cliffs Natural Area is on the other side of the I-14. Avoid afternoon as those amazing rocks will be in shadow, not good for pictures

Did a short but nice 1 mile trail. So pretty, there's so many wild flowers blooming right now.

I recently visited Red Rock Canyon State Park in California and was blown away by the stunning red hills that dominate the landscape. The colors are so rich and vibrant, it's truly a unique sight to see. The best part is that the parking lot is conveniently located close to the actual trail, making it easy to enjoy a day trip from Los Angeles. If you're looking for a beautiful outdoor adventure, I highly recommend checking out Red Rock Canyon State Park.

Absolutely gorgeous views, I was in love with this place! A very nice drive, with numerous areas to stop. It can get a little "touristy" in certain areas, but we were able to walk further in and find private areas to relax. Fair warning though - I can't tell you how many people (including ourselves) were under dressed and freezing. 🤣 I think we all assumed being so close to Vegas/the dessert that it would be hot. It can get very hot, but definitely check the weather before you go!

Beautiful place with trails and sights you, probably, haven’t seen elsewhere.
The visiting center has a lot of info about the wildlife and the park itself. Take a map there and choose which sites to see and what trails to go on.

Reasonably priced, but the three people working the estate sale were rude.

We hired Karen and her team to handle the sale of our parents estate. It truly could not have gone more smoothly. Karen was extremely professional and was consistently in contact with me before during and after the sale. I would highly recommend On the Boulevard Estate Sales- 100%!

I loved meeting the owners husband and some of the other merchants who hold booths within this store. Everything is so well kept most items are in like new condition. They were welcoming especially with my 3 almost 4 year old and didn't mind that she look and often touch some of the items. I will be a lifelong customer as long as this store stays open. :)

Spent over an hour walking around and looking at all their great stuff. Very organized and had some great sales and prices. Left with a variety of antiques. German, Hawaiian, England, and Pioneer/Frontier. Looking forward to shopping again in a couple weeks.

Very nice antique variety! Always a fun store to walk thrue!
Super fun place. Tickets are under 20$ for amazing seats. Great seats are 12$. It is future.MLB stars in a smaller park. There is a kid area with jumpers and an inflatable slide. The kids area is free. Parking is times free and sometimes 5$. Either way not bad. You can park across the street in a dirt lot with a homeless guy for free. There is an owl family that livea in the back of the plane. Check out my photo in that. They also have a kids run where kids get to run across the field in the 6th inning. Bottom line if you are looking for a couple of hours of family fun here it is. The picture of the game is from our seats unzommed

one of funny and unique experience, especially you don't tell anyone inside your car ahead of time. Watch their reaction!!!
the grooves are in the left lane. So stay on the left lane.

It's neat, but not "go 2 hours out of your way to see it" neat. Tom Scott did a segment on this stretch of road on YouTube explaining how they messed up the measurements of the ridges, which is why the song isn't in the correct pitch.

Very cute idea I wish it was a bit longer cause we go back around every time cause the kids want more.

Whether it's out of tune or such its still a great experience! You can clearly hear what song it is supposed to be - only a 20 sec drive but still so much fun!!
monique mcchristian — Google review
Musical road was easy to find and only took a minute to drive. It was a fun and unique experience.
Jenny Voigt — Google review
It only works on one direction and it's way too short, 15 - 20 seconds tops, it should state the optimal speed one should drive at.
Pablo Moysam — Google review
We were in the area to see the California poppies and we stumbled in this road. The road is not that long but the kids enjoyed it. We went around 3 times. It was a good experience. We were all smiling when we passed thru the road. I recommend visiting this when you're at the area.
J G — Google review
If I was an engineer and worked for the city I would add these throughout all the roads in our cities. Something as simple and silly as this put a huge smile on my face. I can only imagine how cheerful this would be if more drivers could experience this in the city. Maybe road rage would lessen and people would be excited to drive. Originally this was carved into the road for a car commercial. Glad it stayed.
T H — Google review
An instant hit for a car full of kids who all looked up from their devices and then wanted to do it again. I guess it is out of tune, but you can easily tell what the song is. Probably not going very far out of our way to get here, but fun when we are driving through.
Dallin Kimble — Google review
Out in the middle of no where! But fun to hear a tune coming from the grooves in the road. It was worth driving out of our way.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
State park
Nature & Parks
Gardens
State nature reserve within the Mojave Desert has 8-mile hikes & a wildflower season March to May.
The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a wonderful destination this time of year. The flowers, chiefly among them the California Poppy, are in bloom. The California Poppy is the state flower. Though not as plentiful as other years during a super bloom, there were still large patches of the wild growing flower, which made for a sight to behold, and lots of great pictures. Many people parked along Lancaster Road for free, we decided to wait in line to park in the lot, and paid the $10. It is important to note that while in the park you need to stay on the trails, so by parking on the street people ventured off to stand among the flowers. I think it is important to be careful of the land, but it is really neat to be surrounded by the golden flowers. The trails in the park are fairly easy to travel, though some sections were a little steep. The use of a stroller may be possible especially on some of the paved paths. There a lot of restrictions including: No dogs (unless a service animal), do not pick the flowers, no drones, eat only at the picnic area, no bikes. For more information check the parks website. The advice I would share is to be prepared for the wind, drink plenty of water, and lookout for rattlesnakes, as we did see one.
John Hatch — Google review
It wasn't "super bloomed" on this Easter Sunday but it was picturesque and there are lots of paths to walk through. Some areas had better pockets of poppies that made for better photos when close up.
Saw a bunch of little lizards, no snakes. And bugs, so bring bug spray along with sunscreen and water of course.
If you want to save the $10 entrance fee, there are really great viewing areas along the street before the preserve that had bright patches of poppies. Many people were doing that.

I went here for the first time and we liked it. We loved that the trails lead you back and no chance to get lost. Though cold, there are flowers especially on the side that does not have much wind. It’s beautiful. Fresh air. Greatfull to experience nature.
Chris Mbugua — Google review
I have wanted to visit the reserve for many years now, and it didn't disappoint. The poppies were in bloom, carpets of flowers everywhere. Truly beautiful. I hiked all of the trails, north and south. There's paid parking, restrooms and a visitor center. It can be very, very busy on weekends during the blooming season, but well worth the visit.
Mick Calarco — Google review
Incredible hiking trails full of all of the wild flowers you could imagine this year! We got there at 730am and the park was already busy. $10 to get in and worth it in every way. Definitely stay on the trails as to not damage the flowers or disturb any wildlife.
Emisis — Google review
There's no puppies this year but if you love nature you still enjoy visiting this park. You will be amazed by the variety of other flowers you will see. The tiny tiny chamomile gives the hills that vibrant yellow color that you will love.
Estela Hernandez — Google review
Beautiful park. We went in February end and there were no poppies and the visitor center was closed too. I heard it opens in March and the flowers start blooming in late March. So, don’t visit before that for watching poppies. But now is a great time to do hikes and watch all the scenic hill tops
$10 to park

An amazing place for a date. Nice scenic drive, beautiful rolling hills and gorgeous flowers! 10/10 fully recommend.
There are a LOT of bugs so I would bring bug spray. Also plenty of hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult, so if you are into hiking definitely bring hiking gear.
Travin Hardy — Google review
We flew in all the way from Washington to see the poppy fields. When we got to the reserve, we didn’t see any poppies, but there were poppies blooming out side the reserve. If you go east on Lancaster road, about a mile away from the reserve, you will see an unmarked open parking on the right. You won’t see any poppies from the parking area, but if you follow the trail after you park and keep walking south toward the valley you will see a huge field of poppies and some pink flowers blooming all over the valley. It was an unforgettable sight! There are also other poppy fields that you will see along Lancaster road if you keep driving east, but the poppy fields that hidden in valley is the best and the most picturesque!! P.S poppy fields and valley has no shade, so make sure to wear a hat or put on a lot of sun screen and bring enough water.
J C — Google review
Poppy's were not in complete bloom but absolutely beautiful to see the hills colored in yellow and orange. Highly recommend stopping by and doing the walk around the reserve. The staff is incredibly friendly and plus we even caught some of the eclipse there
Josh Zep — Google review
I overall enjoyed this place. The hikes were not very long. The incline was about 2% grade. Now to see the poppies in Bloom, it would depend on the weather. The poppies are sensitive. When I went, just before Spring, in late March, It had rained a lot causing the poppies too Suffer, due to lack of oxygen. So, as a warning look on their live webcam first or ask the ranger station if you can get a live person and ask them the conditions. The staff mini ATV vehicles riding around, but they seem to have missed many holes on the pathway that need filling in regularly. Good luck. 🙌🏼😅👍🏼🌅
Edward Roy — Google review
No poppies and not the friendliest bunch. We did have our dog with us and were told she couldn't leave the parking area, so we weren't able to even use the picnic area because it was up a trail away from parking. So we tailgated in the parking lot and a delightful volunteer told us just be sure you don't leave a mess. So trip was more a super-bust than a superbloom.
Bob Nelson — Google review
April 2024 is supposed to be fully bloomed season for poppy but they didn’t get this year. Please check before visiting this place.
Jatin Patel — Google review
First went here to watch the superbloom in 2023, and I was MIND BLOWN. Not just because of the flowers but because of the miles and miles of undulating hills, clean air and tranquility. You HAVE to visit, be it during spring when the flowers are in bloom or any other time of year!
Aadya Chidanand — Google review
I think last time we were there was more poppies but this time because of the rain or cold weather was not that much poppies that we expected, but other than that was a nice experience! Try to go afternoon around sunset to see the sunset and skip the traffic! The bathrooms were so dirty, try not to go. The parking is $10, which you can park of the road and walk up there if you can, in overall was nice!
Old-school depot offering exhibits on trains, a working signal garden, play area, gift shop & tours.
Nice, donation based, Museum. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our docent showed us around, answered questions, and then left us to explore on our own. There is a nice area outside where you can sit and watch the trains go by. Make sure you hear the story about how the depot burned down. The story really shows how committed the Tehachapi community is to saving their history.

We just happened to stop by this darling train depot not knowing it was actually a museum. We were thrilled!! The docent gave a fabulous tour and had everyone enthralled. It has a great history and Tehachapi is very blessed to have had this restored for this purpose. I highly encourage everyone to stop by for a visit it’s even more thrilling when the trains ride by…

My family and I stopped here on our way through town. We just wanted a quick look but ended up getting a full tour. I don't remember our tour guides name but he was very informative and made our visit super special. He made the stop well worth it. If he is reading this, we were the family that told you the story of the 800mb hard drive advert. I highly recommend anyone with the slightest interest in trains to stop by this historic train depot.
Robert Stoddard — Google review
A fantastic visit. This is quite a small museum, but it packs a number of interesting artifacts and is completely free. But the stars are the volunteers. I spent the best part of an hour there just chatting to them, sharing and contrasting the US and UK rail systems.
If you've an hour free, it's not too far from the LA to San Francisco freeway. Divert, have a look around and a chat, leave a donation if you can and then visit the Tehachapi loop viewpoint.
Nick Brown — Google review
Very fun place to see! Guids were very nice and informative. If you're a Railroad enthusiast, this the place to check out. There is no admissions fee. Plz leave donation to help with the preservation of this historical treasure.
Then drive 10 mi down the road to check out the Tehachapi loop. If the train comes by the station and your fast you can get on the 58 west bound and make it to the observation point and watch the train come thru the loop!
Thomas Banks — Google review
Very cute. All of the staff are enthusiastic. They might all be volunteers. They also encouraged us to visit the Tehachapi Loop overlook and gave directions. The Loop is definitely worth the little drive. Take chairs and hang out a while. There is usually a local out at the loop more than willing to tell you all about it.
Terran Nyberg — Google review
Really nice museum. Super clean and well done exhibits. Highly recommended. Tehachapi is proud of their heritage, as they should be, and it shows from places like this as well as the nearby antique stores and museums right up the street. This was a wonderful visit and we hope to be back soon.
Michael Moffatt — Google review
This is a great place to take the family of all ages. This museum operates on donations, so their is no actual fee to enter. The volunteer who gives the tour is very knowledgeable. The gift is tiny and cute. If you love trains this is the place for you.
Gwen Wines — Google review
The Tehachapi Depot Museum is a really neat exhibit full of historical curiosities. They have some nice antique pieces of railway equipment and adjacent items like old luggage, etc. I liked that they display a piece of train track that had melted under extreme duress. They also have preserved news clippings and other literature for your viewing.
The staff is very pleasant here, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I like that the museum is situated directly next to the actual operational railway, that there is a railroad-themed playground next door, and that a great sandwich deli and bakery, Kohnen’s, is only a hundred feet away.
Christopher Gorrie — Google review
The Tehachapi Depot Museum is an excellent place to visit and watch trains. You have both Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe passing right next to this depot. The information in and around the Tehachapi Depot Museum is very educational. I fully recommend and support this Museum.
My son (13) and I had an amazing time with Kern River Outfitters. It was his first time whitewater rafting and he can't stop talking about how great it was. What an amazing day! We did the one day trip and it was so much fun. The rapids were great and the guides were awesome! Sven rocked it. He took cautious first time rafters and made rafting enthusiast. They were "riding the bull" and all in by the end of the first run. We all felt safe with Sven in charge even taking on the big ones. Indeed, it was a fantastic rafting trip. We chose the half-day Upper Kern Class IV trip. This was the first time they could run the Upper Kern in over a month, and the current was perfect. It was extra splashy and a total blast! Sven was our guide; he was highly experienced, knowledgeable about the river, and so much fun. We can't wait to go back.

The trip was awesome - we got a little bit of everything on the Class IV Premium Half Day! Our Guide, “Big Water” Blair, really built up the confidence of our raft of 6 inexperienced paddlers and we made it through all 5 big rapids successfully. We got to take a dip in the river in one of the calmer sections. Even for a short trip, we got some really exciting rapids and would highly recommend this trip and KRO to anyone. On top of the fun trip, the Kern was beautiful with the trees along the river and the mountains in the background

This is what I also shared to Yelp.
We went out here for a bachelor party trip and we’re lucky enough to get Gabe aka Nick Cage aka Ashton Butcher as our River guide. If you’re somewhat of a rowdy bunch and want to get into the thick of the rapids, don’t mind getting wet and are looking for more excitement than the normal trek, Gabe (Nick Cage) is your dude. We were all really pumped on the trip. The company was very professional even before we booked our trip, upon arrival, and even with us wanting to go the extra and get kinda gnarly on the river, Gabe (Nick Cage) made sure that we all knew exactly what to expect and what to do depending on what could potentially happen next so we were all in good hands (Nick Cage) and safety was still priority #1.
I recommend doing the full day (8 hour) trip. We booked the upper Kern but due to weather got switched to the lower kern which I heard was better. The first trip through is almost like a taste test to get your bearings. We stopped for a rock jump/cliff jump which was chill and then later stopped again for a mid day break. I honestly felt kind of tired and already a little sore at that point but the deli sandwiches were solid and once we went for round two you’re already prepared for what’s to come but with slightly different conditions so our group was all about going harder the second time which really made the whole trip a blast.
(Side note) I haven’t done river rafting since high school and I’m 37 now so I’m not seasoned in doing this by any means.
Anyways the conversations during the mellow parts of the river were good, we got soaked going for it, floated down the river when it was chill and paddled hard when we were in the thick of it all thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Overall it was an absolute blast and I plan to definitely come back at least once a year to do this same trip.
I highly recommend this company. You won’t be disappointed.
HUGE THANKS Gabe (Nick Cage/Ashton Butcher) and Kern River Outfitters. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Overall I think the entire crew emphasize safety without scaring rafters and that made this mom very happy. This was a great adventure for my family and friends. I highly recommend Kern River Outfitters

We had a great time. Our guide was Mary from Montana. All the guides were nice and very knowledgeable. I had been rafting before but 2 others on my raft were first timers. The guide leader was cool even when she got water splashed back on her on the bus (first time for her). I remember Brian and Cameron and sorry I forgot the other guides names.

We had the most amazing time! Our guilds Adam, Miles and Bailey were absolutely awesome! They were knowledgeable and so fun! We went with our teenagers and even they thought it was “SO much fun!” Double compliment from a teenager! This company made everything so easy and had the best customer service! I can’t recommend enough! We are working on planning another trip!

I decided to book the 5 day „Pacific Crest“ trail ride for experienced riders – and it turned out to be one of the best trail rides I ever did.
What is really important to me when booking such holidays is that the owners are real „horsemen“ and take good care of their horses. They did not disappoint me.
One thing you need to know upfront: Most of the rides are for truly experienced trail riders. Which is great if you do have this experience, because it´s no „nose-to-tail“ and therefore not suitable for beginners. I think they do offer beginners lessions on their farm as well. My suggestion is: Do yourself a favor and be honest to yourself in terms of your riding capabilities.
The horses:
Most of the horses are Mustangs, many of them born in the wild and domesticated later. They are extremely sure-footed and reliable, smart and very „rideable“.
They live in huge pastures in a big Group. On the first day, you spend some good time with them before going onto a trail – which is very good for building up some initial trust and understanding between rider and horse.
The rides:
We decided to ride in the early mornings, returning around lunch time. The afternoons were far too hot to continue riding - which allowed to spend some free time on the farm or in the L.A. area for the humans and some recovery for the horses.
Daniela doesn´t take the same trails every day, but also loads the horses onto her truck and drives to trails further away, which is nice in terms of variety of rides. It´s a very nice mixture of mountain climbing, tiny paths through bushes, nice trotts and canters.
The location:
The rooms are spacious and due to the remote location of the farm very quiet.
Beds are super comfortable, the shared kitchen and bathroom is equiped with everything needed.
They do also offer Quad-Tours etc. for non-riders.
The hosts:
Daniela is a German living in the US since many years, so you can communicate in german if you like / need to and of course in english.
She is very interested in getting a good connection to the guests, but absolutely respecting your privacy / relaxation time if you need it.
It might not be the cheapest offer you can get in this area – but to me, the good care for the horses (and for us 😊) were definitely worth the price.

I surprise my husband with an ATV tour with the amazing Daniella. We were the only two people in the group. The tour was really cool! Very technical trails, beautiful views, we had so much fun. The Ranch also does horseback riding, so we'll have to come back. Thank you so much Daniella!

We booked ATV rides for 13 family members for my daughter’s birthday. When I tell you this was so fun! Safety was taught first but overall the staff was patient and friendly. It made our day awesome! I most definitely will return if we head back to LA.

I had an amazing experience riding with Daniela! Loved the horsey and the scenery and the full, thoughtful experience. Got to ride for several hours at a very managable price.
The location was beautiful and I'd love to come back. I will be recommending to anyone looking to ride in the LA area!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I can’t say enough about Daniela, her horses, and the experience out in the trails. The bond that Daniela has with her horses is incredible, and her horses treat her and all visitors so well in return. I went on the Full day ride, and it was truly unforgettable. I live nearby in Los Angeles, and had the option to sleep at the property or commute to the barn the morning of the ride. I chose the latter, and it was very easy to find the stables in the morning. I met Daniela at the barn, we met the horse I would ride (Pia) to get to know each other and develop a bond with that horse (this I really appreciated and made me feel very safe!). Daniela tacked up Pia, talked me through how Pia is to ride, and we took Pia into the arena to get to know her and warm up with walk/trot (note: I have many years of riding experience, and ride regularly). Daniela tackle up her horse, and we took to the trails. We rode for hours and had SO MUCH FUN!! The trails were technical and for intermediate/experienced riders. The horses are so safe. I can’t say enough about how kind/friendly Daniela is, and can’t recommend this experience enough. Safe to say, I will be back soon!! :D

I’ve road ATV’s in Jamaica and this actually topped it. Daniella, our instructor was the sweetest person. Very welcoming as soon as we stepped out the car. She gave great instructions before the ride. The actual tour itself was so adventurous. BEAUTIFUL scenic route. She took awesome pictures of us. This was the best experience I’ve ever had riding ATVs.

I did the Burnt Peak ride and absolutely loved it. I went in December so it was a little cold and windy but Daniela made sure I had warm clothes so I was comfortable. She takes the time to make sure you feel safe and comfortable with your horse before going out on the trails. You can tell that she takes very good care of her horses and trains them very well. I would love to go back some day!
Came here in 2017 with our kids, and returned without them today. Google it to be amazed before actually seeing it. We were fortunate to arrive on a clear day, and right as a train was approaching. It's cool to see the engine windings the train around the mountain so many times, and see the caboose spiraling along! It's a short stop off the highway.

What a lovely place! An oasis of colour and comfort. This family farm shop and pick your own is a joy to visit. The planting is a great mix of English garden l/Park and tropical. We couldn't believe our eyes as we were looking for a stop on a long journey and this place was beautiful and refreshing. The outdoor seating was shady and it was fun watching the birds. 10/10 to the owners. Happy place with happy staff

Was hungry & saw this place just before we passed the exit. The other farm type place we had stopped at they wanted $13 for the yogurt parfait. $4 here! Fresh empanadas, the peach was the tastiest I’ve ever had. Got some honey with comb, even the fudge was a great price. & you can dine in the pretty courtyard. Loaded up for our trip, legendary frog balls 😂, cucumber chips. Great staff, thank you!

It's a really great place to stop and get food. Fresh fruit and some damn good meat pies!! They're delicious!! Loved it. The only thing is that the restrooms are filthy and smell awful. I've stopped here several times, and they're gross. But, other than that, it's a nice place!

Great place to stop outside of Bakersfield. They have a cute indoor produce stand with a large variety of fruits and some veggies. The cherries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Homemade pies in variety of flavors and sizes, fresh popcorn and a large area of pickled items, jams, sauces and honey (the cactus honey is amazing)! There is also a small deli area where you can get some hot sides or a sandwich. Seating outside on the patio or garden area to eat. They offer a u-pick, but I did not check that out. They also offer fuel pumps with both gas and diesel. If you need to fuel up, stretch your legs, grab some fresh produce or a bite to eat, this is your stop! The customer service is friendly and everything was clean!

Great spot to stop by. Food was a bit overpriced but definitely worth it for the experience if you're driving by. They have a very interesting blueberry pulled pork that everyone should try.

This was our first time here and we loved it! I took so many pictures in front of beautiful flowers. For Mother’s Day I got in for free. While being there they had a cherry pie eating contest and the pie was amazing! I also had a BBQ blueberry brisket pie and wow, it was soooo good. There were kid activities like slides a big air filled bouncer, animals and more. My kids had a blast. My favorite part was picking the fruits, the fresh picked berries are to die for. Unfortunately we were pretty occupied so I didn’t get pictures of the strawberries. If you’re considering going, just do it, you won’t regret it!

Such a fun spot for spooky season! We went a couple of hours before close on a Friday and the crowd levels were almost nonexistent. The price of admission comes with 1 pumpkin each, which I loved. We could’ve spent so much more time exploring, but we were running out of time before they closed. We’ll definitely be back before the season is over!

I was so excited when I saw a big red barn with my hometown name on it. I am from Murray Kentucky so I had to stop when I saw this place in Bakersfield California. It took me back home walking in, I bought 3 okie pies that were absolutely delicious!!! I could have ate all three if I hadn't bought one for my mama and Gigi. The orange honey is the bees knees...his hands and his elbows and the blackberry butter is gonna be spread on every piece of bread in the house. Y'all gotta stop in and support the local shop.

Cute little spot for fall activities, even as an adult without kids. However, unfortunately, some of the activities weren't open. Maybe because we went on a weekday? We would have really enjoyed the apple cannons and paintball range if they were open. Otherwise, you really can't beat the price since admission even includes a pumpkin.. and good ones too! Also, bonus, SUPER PRETTY SUNSETS.

We always try to stop here on all our trips by here but traffic sucks getting in and out of here.
just one employee was a bit rude thinking she was funny just sending you on a scavenger hunt for things they didn’t have.
Casualwear chain featuring trendy fashions for men, women & children, plus home-decor items.
Good selection of stores.

There's a Car Show at the parking lot and that was fun. First time seeing this much Tesla Charger. I love shopping here. Nice stuff and great deals. Also have Clean Restroom but the Food Court was closed and there's only Tony's Pizza and Subway. Wish they have more Restaurant.

Nice pitstop on the way to or from North CA. Not a huge selection of places to shop but enough to keep you busy. Food court was closed but still plenty of food places. Only 2 restrooms, one on each end of the outlet so they were crowded and quite a walk. There is an third restroom in the food court in the center but that was closed. Prices were average. Parking lot was huge. You can easily park an RV or trailer out on the edges. Starbucks and fast food are located nearby so you can eat elsewhere if you did not want to shop. We visited on a busy Thanksgiving weekend. The lot was set up to control traffic and parking and it was very efficient and effective. Driving in and out were a breeze and not frustrating on a busy weekend. It was well done.

Decent sized outlets with quite a few stores. There’s the usual suspects brands that you will find across. Nothing crazy or out of the world deals but it’s a good enough location that’s accessible to folks from Bakersfield and the ones driving up to LA. Not many food courts in the outlet but there’s some restaurants around the corner and across the free way.

Found this place right off the highway and it was a nice place to stretch my legs, do a little shopping, and people watch for a little while. I'd say if you need these things on a long road trip, this is a good place to stop in at. The area seems well maintained and there were enough people walking back and forth that this small is very much alive. The men's room was kept clean which is a rare and pleasant surprise for a mall. They have most of the big name brand stores, so if you're looking to do some holiday shopping you could do worse than this place.
Zach Roper — Google review
Great stores, clean environment. I prefer driving from Bakersfield to the outlets instead of going to the mall in town. I do wish there were more food choices, but the area across the street nearby has a lot to choose from.
Heather Hash — Google review
The Outlets at Tejon offers a clean and inviting outdoor shopping experience, complete with a basic yet satisfying variety of stores. Its open-air setting is a breath of fresh air for shoppers tired of the traditional mall atmosphere. However, the mall does fall short when it comes to restroom cleanliness, an area that could use some attention. Additionally, the layout is quite spread out, requiring a good amount of walking to get from one end to the other. Conveniently, it also includes a supercharging station for electric vehicles, making it a practical stop for more than just shopping. Overall, a solid 4/5 experience.

Comfortable place to shop, very clean, lots of clean restrooms and places to rest and eat. Shaded pathways which very healthy. Went to several shops… had a very good discount on a diamond ring for my wife at Kevin’s Jewelry store, Irene and all the staff were very professional and helpful providing all the information that we needed. I always go to Kevin’s jewelry store to buy good things but it’s my first time at the tejon branch, usually I get my good stuff in the Valley Mall plaza on Ming Ave., but both gives good deals for the blings and rolexes. Also had fun at the Levi’s store lots of items with BOGO and more good deals. Had a delicious pizza at Tony’s pizza to re energize with our shopping. Our furry baby chihuahua was always welcomed in all the shops and he enjoyed walking on the clean shaded pavement. There are lot of parking areas and we parked at the shaded parking area. Had a fun day in this place, worth the trip with lots of discounts and good deals…..and pizza❤️

The Mechanics Bank Arena, Theater and Convention Center in Bakersfield offers a wide range of entertainment options, from boxing matches to comedy shows featuring big names such as Jerry Seinfeld. The center has helped put Bakersfield on the map by attracting popular acts to the city. It's a great place for concerts and sporting events alike. Visitors should familiarize themselves with the venue layout ahead of time, as many exciting events occur here year after year.
Whether you're at a concert or at Condors game like we were last night, it's always a fun time! This place really put Bakersfield on the map by bringing big name acts to our lil ole town!! Amazing show! I'd never been to Bakersfield before [except in shackles on the prison bus], and I didn't expect such a cool city. The venue was great, the lines moved fast, and the overpriced drinks were no more overpriced than they are everywhere else. And the staff and security were cool. If it wasn't 3+ hours away from me, I'd definitely go back and see a show here again. 🍻

A smaller sized theater venue which kind of reminded me of my old high school auditorium, actually. The seats are T I N Y. Very much like old school auditoriums. The sound is good though! The views are pretty good all around I think. I was in Terrace level G at first row CC. The rails are kind of in the way, but could easily sit up to bypass them. I drove from LA up to Bakersfield for the first time to see Colter Wall and it was a great experience! The parking is easy and everyone helps easily point you the right way. Would recommend making the drive from LA to see your favorite artist or band here!

Condor games are always fun with family and friends! I’m grateful for my friends inviting me to these events, especially to check out our local team. I’ve also been to the convention center for concerts, usually parking is easily assessable. And if you’re like me and running late and have to park away from the venue there’s usually spots at a close walking distance.

Great venue! I didn't get food but it looked and smelled really good. I saw one of my favorite bands of all time, Matchbox Twenty. My seat was in the first row of the stands, just off center in front of the stage. I felt so close! I felt like I had fantastic seats for a HUGE band and they weren't that expensive. And honestly better than the floor seats unless you're front row, I couldn't stand up the whole time.

Nice & cool inside the venue, when outside the temperature was close to 100 & very humid.
The skybox was a good place to see the stage. The attendant/server Geo was awesome. he made sure we had everything we needed & there was plenty of food & drinks.
It was a plus that we did not have to wait in line in the bathroom. As there was a bathroom in the skybox.

First time here. Came to see the Bakersfield Blaze Concert with Ice Cube, Cypress Hill and a few others. Had a good time. I purchased floor seats, not really knowing what that meant. I was a little harder to see the stage, I'd definitely recommend getting seating in the upper levels just to get a better view of the stage without having to stand up. The floor seats did feel a little close together, i felt like i kept bumping into my neighbors lol. I liked that there was many restrooms, because the lines can get very long. Paid for parking so that made it super easy. Had a great time over all.
The Kern County Museum boasts an array of exhibits and artifacts showcasing the region's rich history, including its indigenous peoples, pioneer era, and significant role in the oil industry. The majority of the museum is situated outdoors, with various buildings available for visitors to explore. In addition to educational signage tailored for adults, there are also many kid-friendly displays. Visitors can expect a unique and enjoyable experience at this expansive museum, which may require multiple visits to fully appreciate everything it has to offer.
My dad and I just visited and we were both very impressed. We could have easily spent many hours here, but felt that two was about right given our timing constraints. Most of the museum is outdoors, with buildings that you can peek into. They have many kid-oriented signs along with the standard adult-oriented signs.

It is more like a historical park with lots of historical buildings with old furniture moved/rebuilt there. There is also a small museum with interactive exhibits about petroleum exploration and a small kids museum. We spent around 3 hours going through everything. Kids had a great time peaking into each house to see what it looked like in the old times. We were there on a Saturday but no one was at the ticket window so we got in for free.

Their event for Halloween 🎃 this year was great! Not too long of lines to get candy, not too scary for the younger kids, tickets were five dollars each and five dollars more to get a bag for candy. No buckets allowed since they give you the bags and you have to pay per person to get candy. Most of the museums attractions were open to view and walk through. There were some vendors there for food, coffee, popcorn and tacos. They had a projector playing a Halloween 👻 movie and they had some bounce houses for the kids. Parking was a little intense but we ended up getting super lucky with a good spot. Highly recommend for next year if you want to do something other than stay in or go house to house.

I hadn't been to Pioneer Village in about 3 decades. I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to take him there. I was delightfully surprised to see how much it has changed and grown. At least from my faint memory from elementary school! Even though he's not from Bakersfield, he also quite enjoyed the experience.
I loved the interactive displays to show how the equipment works. The transportation exhibit is really cool. I loved being able to see such a wide range of vehicles from different eras.
It was very peaceful to meander through and enjoy the park-like environment on top of seeing all of the houses and buildings.
The only "complaint" I have is that I didn't have access to quite a few of the different buildings since I was in a wheelchair. I understand limitations due to the nature of the historic nature of the buildings, but I was just a little bummed out.
Otherwise I hope to introduce more people to this lovely little haven. 😁

Buck Owens' Crystal Palace is a lively country music venue that also serves food and drinks. It boasts Buck's own music memorabilia on display, making it a must-see for fans of the genre as it doubles as a museum. The food is reportedly always good, with great service to match. Those who attend concerts there can expect excellent sound quality and an awesome vibe to go along with the music.
Great food, awesome music and bitchin vibe. Staff was super sweet n accommodating, too.

My husband and I came from Texas to visit family and came here for dinner. I had the chicken fried steak and it was outstandingly delicious 😋 the green beans were to die for...I know, green beans! But the biscuits and honey butter were melt in your mouth good. Our server was so nice and did a great job.
The place was so nice with lots of country music memorabilia, pics, and a live country band with dancing. A good family place to bring kids to dance.
We had a great time. I definitely enjoyed this night out.

Attended a concert with my wife. Had a delicious dinner, food was great and service excellent! Disappointed in our seating location, could not clearly enjoy watching the show. Sound was good. I have enjoyed the Crystal Palace many times since it opened. Food is always good and entertainment is usually good.

Surprised to find this venue here. Love entertainment and good food and drinks. Loved the history and the displays of Buck's life along with local celebrities and more current country singers.
Good size dance floor and live band playing older and some newer country music. Definitely worth a visit.

Enjoyed this venue very much. If you're a country music fan this place is for you! So much memorabilia all over the place. Great picture opportunities. There is not a bad seat in the house. The environment and crowd was great. Brought my teenagers to see Charlie Crockett and we all had a great time. Tickets are affordable. We did not eat as kitchen closed at 10. I would see a show here again!!

Amazing place to dine at. First time me and my wife came here and it was definitely worth it. We got to see the famous Bakersfield sign, and also loved the museum part of the restaurant. The food was heavenly, i had a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was huge, and fries. Wife got a chicken fried steak meal, with baked potato, and loved it. Started off with some onion rings, which were divine. Ended the meal with chocolate cake, and oh boy, im glad i saved room for it. This place was really amazing, live music, cool bar has a Cadillac behind it, museum to wonder around and check out, made for a fun night. Definitely will be back here again soon.

Project Survival "Cat Haven"
Zoo
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Project Survival Cat Haven is a very special educational facility…..I love going on their tours. My family and I have been going there for around 15 years and we can never get enough!!
This place is one of pure love of endangered and rescued cats and of inspiring the public to love and help organizations in the various countries who are working to save endangered cats. I love that their focus is saving wild cats from extinction. …AND…..They want you to fall in love with endangered felines of the world.
This is a home to a collection of pampered, very lucky felines who are ambassadors for their cousins in the wild.
….AND…..part of Project Survival’s Cat Haven earnings are sent to those organizations in countries working to protect their cousins to ensure the fight to save wild cats will be a success!!
When you go on the tours, you will love seeing the cats are well cared for and loved by everyone with docents who are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all visitors falling in love with all endangered cats so that by the time your tour ends of you seeing the cousins of the wild ones, you, too, will want to save the endangered cats of the world!!!
Plan on wearing tennis shoes or some type of shoe that handles a walk on a dirt trail and bring a picnic lunch as the setting is beautiful with tables and chairs on the patio. I can’t wait to get back up there as certain cats are my favorites!!!
Please check it out. You will fall in love, too!!!

We’ve come here many times over the years and love the experience. The staff is friendly and the tour guides are knowledgeable about the cats. They take their time at each enclosure and make sure that you have opportunity to learn and ask questions. Keep in mind that the trail through the tour is not paved in all areas and goes down and up steep hills throughout. You will want to wear comfortable shoes that have good grip because it’s easy to slip in the dirt in some parts of the trail. Whether you’re a local or traveling through to Kings Canyon Park this is a great place to visit.

We had such a great time! Experience is incredible. I highly recommend. All of the cats are happy and healthy! It seemed to me like they actually enjoy being visited. Our tour guide was very well spoken and knowledgeable. Trail is sometimes steep, sometimes rocky so wear comfy shoes. Well worth the money. It's a great experience!

A very informative place about big cats. I brought my 1 year old daughter and she enjoyed the strolled around this place. It's like walking a trail in a loop. The terrain is for beginners but can be a bit difficult if bringing a stroller. My favorite is the tiger. She or he (I forgot) was gorgeous!

Helpful and knowledgeable staff take you on a tour that lasts approx 1 hrs 15mins. The cats all appear to be happy and healthy. You can tell the staff both respect and love these animals. And when they say to not cross the barriers, that means not even a pinky. Would recommend for others to check this place out.

Amazing! We had an incredible experience on our tour. I’ve never been so close to so many wild cats - this is truly a special place where you have the opportunity to really feel the presence of these amazing animals. Our docent was very knowledgeable, friendly, and provided just the right amount of information. The public tour is the perfect length (~60 min) and feels very intimate and special. The gift shop is great with lots of opportunities to support the conservation work being done here. The trail is mostly dirt and can be fairly steep at times. Not stroller-friendly. If you are bringing littles under 4, be prepared to wear or carry them. We will absolutely be returning soon!!

Love this place. This was my 2nd visitm. There's an awesome, hour long tour that's the perfect stop before heading home. The cats are beautiful. It's amazing hear their stories and see them so well cared for.

This is a wonderful 501 (c) (3) organization that educates the public about big cats at their cat haven and uses the funds to help preserve big cats in the wild. Well informed staff that takes you on 1/4 mile walking tours of their animals. Disability tours available if you contact them in advance.

We went to Cat Haven today and absolutely loved it!! All of the cats seemed very happy and healthy, and the staff was outstanding! Our tour guide (I forget her name, but she had red curly hair, and a nose piercing) was SO polite and knowledgeable. She gave us the exact experience we were hoping for! I will always support a facility that supports cats, especially when they are so good with customers and the health and safety of the animals they are protecting. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We went for the full day VIP package as a gift to my financeé. She called it one of the best gifts ever. If you can afford that package, I would highly recommend it. You need to schedule in advance, but the staff was very helpful coordinating and answering all of my questions. If you can't do VIP or don't schedule in advance, it was readily apparent that the daily tours for general admission were also very cool.
All of the staff clearly love what they do and the animals. All of the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. All of the staff had a lot of knowledge and enjoyed answering my questions..., even when I was rapid firing random questions during the different experiences.

My husband and I stumbled across the project survival cat haven on our way to Yosemite National Park. I saw the signs, and knew we needed to detour lol. We wanted to go on the tour of the sanctuary, but it lasted at least an hour (maybe 1 1/2 hours, can’t remember), and we had very limited time to see Yosemite.
The guided tour was under $20 each for adults.
Without even entering the actual sanctuary, you are able to view several wild cats, including a tiger. From a not so distant view, they all seemed comfortable, healthy, and happy.
They had a great gift shop, which we were happy to shop at in support of the sanctuary.
The staff members that we talked to were very informative, and happy to answer any questions and provide info on the feline residents. You could hear and see their passion for what they do.
I very much recommend stopping here, and checking out the events and tours that they hold.
Side note: everything that I saw and viewed was free. Only the tour portion required tickets. So if you have 30 minutes at least, you can have a great experience for free, and maybe get some great gifts in the process!

This place turned out to be a delightful surprise! During our trip to Sequoia National Park, we spotted the sign and decided to make a stop. From the moment we entered the door, we were greeted by the most welcoming and friendly staff. The admission fee of $16 per person was well worth it for the fantastic experience.
One aspect worth noting is that all the tours are guided, providing valuable insights into the facility and the amazing cats they care for. However, it's essential to be prepared for some physical activity as you'll be walking on rough terrains with both steep uphill and downhill sections. Don't forget to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially during the summer, and consider carrying a mister to keep cool and apply sunscreen.
The different cats you get to see and learn about made the adventure truly memorable. I am already looking forward to returning and would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family. It's an experience that shouldn't be missed!

This is not your typical style zoo. It's nothing but cats😻 it's a small, short tour but if you love cats, it's a must see! The cats are raised by humans, making them more approachable towards visitors. You can't touch them but they're more likely to come close to the cage to get a better look at you. I got to see a baby mountain lion and I just fell in love. I will definitely visit again.
Large outlet complex for apparel, footwear, jewelry & housewares, plus a range of casual eateries.
The Nike Outlet Store is the ONLY store with actual deals for an outlet discount area.
I visited most of the stores here at the Tulare Outlets and the only store worth a look is the Nike Store. Also it's a clean and safe area to shop.

Went to the Outlets for the first time in a long time. This place unfortunately hasn't changed much at all. Don't get me wrong. Parking lot is full on a holiday weekend but the layout has not changed at all in over 20 years. Cannot expect much for Tulare though. All the medium or top flight stores are nowhere to be found. It was a rather boring experience. I will be going to Citadel or Camarillo if I need to shop at the Outlets.

It's a very basic outlet center does not have a lot of stores as compared to other outlets. But whatever it has it's pretty good about it. They are adding more shops Columbia is coming!!!

Tulare outlets are cool because they are not in Fresno, so if a day adventure is what your looking for it'll be fun. However they are really overpriced. And if you decide to get approved for any of the stores credit lines beware, they make it hard to pay the credit cards so just beware. But all in all they're cool

I like the selection of stores and the parking is easy. The only problem I faced was a lack of food options. My advice is to bring food or eat before you go. If your blood sugar drops, the only food nearby is at the gas station or Starbucks.

We love shopping here. Besides having a huge selection of shops with massive savings, this place is always so clean! Even the bathrooms are well maintained. My typical go-to stores are Osh Kosh and Vans for my child; Van Heusen, Gap and Calvin Klein for the adults and Coach and Zales Outlet for special occasions. There's a store for everyone.

These Outlets have quite a few stores to choose from and it is very well kept and always looking clean. They do have a theater within the outlets and they have a few places to eat but a huge selection. They almost seem more like snacks but hopefully they bring a restaurant and in the future. The biggest stores are most likely Tommy Hilfiger as well as Nike and Converse and possibly vans but it just depends on what you want or what you're looking for.

I came out of town for the leap year promition and I'm sad to say there was a note on the door that says that the promotion was no longer happening. When yet the flyer says that it ends at 5pm. They did not specify it was only while supplies lasted and but they were allowing customers to get multiple gift cards rather than havinng a fair system where everyone got one. This was absolutely ridiculous!!

Took a different road on the way to L.A. and ended up in Taft (I'm not a big fan of Hwy 5)
This was a spur of the moment trip so we ended up staying in Taft. At our hotel, we asked the receptionist what is something cool to do in Taft and the oil museum came highly recommended. On Saturday morning we went to the museum and let me tell you it's a historical treasure. You not only learn about the oil history in the area but you also learn about Taft, Maricopa, and all the nearby towns. The staff, all volunteers, are super friendly and they took the time and explained everything to us. I highly recommend stopping here if you like to learn about history and see the evolution of oil pumping machines. This is a must see in my books!

Cool small town style museum. Lots of displays exhibits and artifacts. You could spend several hours here and not see everything. The museum is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. It shows local history and a lot of information about how oil production has affected this area.

Stayed in an RV here. Excellent sites with fire pit, fairly easy to maneuver inside the park, very friendly and excellent staff. All RV sites come with a picnic table and fire pit. Quiet, friendly park. My ONLY issue was the hot water in the showers took about 5 mins to come on and the water pressure was terrible.

We only stayed for one night and it was totally fine! I do agree the bathrooms could use some updating. When we got our little map from the office, we noticed they had a pizza place on there that said they delivered to the campground. We were exhausted so we decided to just do that. But when I called, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. It was called Mountain Mike's. I kept saying we were at the KOA campground and he kept asking me what hotel or apartment we were in. 🤣

This is a great RV park and staff was great, but my family picked this for camping and as a camping experience this is the worst KOA I've been to. The campground size was tiny with very little shade. The ground was mostly ants before we even got to any food and it was loud at night making sleep difficult.

Great location - easy off the freeway. All the sites have a lot of grass which was nice as we just came from an Arizona trip where there wasn't any grass!. Nice pull thru sites and the dog run was big and it also had grass. Well maintained. There is a train that was nearby and two trains went through but other than that it was very quiet.

Nice place to stay overnight. Not sure I'd want to stay long-term. Lady that checked is in was SUPER nice and we had an easy pull-through. We didn't really have any issues, but we weren't wowed. The guy next to us had a smoking fire that was all over our rig and no one said anyone. Saw an RV with a boot on it and the owner wearing ankle bracelet. Not something that makes you feel at home.

The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. My family and I stayed in a cabin with no restroom. It was really nice and well maintained. The location is right off the freeway, used to be in the country, now surrounded by a development. With that being said, you get the park feeling while camping very close to amenities. Great experience for a night or two.

Staff was awesome. Location and getting to it was an experience. GPS in the truck had us going down a very questionable road. You can tell there were some long term residents there. Staff was very upfront on a water issue that they had and kept us well informed.

The deluxe cabin was a big disappointment. Not clean, sofa was to small, dirty and broken, slider door was broken, coffe pot was filthy. The place needed a deep cleaning ect, ect. Poor location surrounded by noisy home owners. Not a reflection of a true KOA campground. We definitely over paid. Would not recommend the park to anyone.

Nasty restrooms. Filthy broken shower doubles as a sauna because the A/C was not on. Needs paint and maintenance and so much more..... I cannot believe KOA lets them keep their franchise. Do not stay here unless there are no other options and you cannot drive any further. $75 a night for this dump is ridiculous.

The camp wasn't that good but the cats were nice. Some cats wouldn't come near and others would but were still scared. You can pet the cats and they are very soft. If you like cats then this is a pretty good place.

Nice place for transit on a trip. Pool closed in October, restrooms clean and nice hot water. One idea is please put a recycling bin near the camp sink! We had to wash our bottles, etc, then traipse to the other side of the ground to recycle!

Site was a little short for our 44 ft 5th wheel and truck. Luckily, the site beside us was empty so we parked there.
Just a 45 minute drive to the AMAZING Kings Canyon & Sequoia National parks.

Passing through this was a fine place to sleep for the night, but for the price of $70 for just water and electric (when we typically stay at very nice holiday KOAs for the same rate) - we felt disappointed with our stay. The bathrooms were clean-ish, but there were still cobwebs and very DIY. In the men’s room, you would step on loose tile that would squish water up through it. For the price point, we expected professionally renovated bathrooms. Sites are on gravel and pretty close together with no privacy. Within the park there was noise late into the night that sounded like an ice cream truck and we could hear the nearby train throughout the night. In summary, for the experience we should’ve stayed at the Love’s down the road rather than spend the money here.

Just went here to purchase propane and dump the holding tanks, close to home for me. Can tell you though management very friendly and helpful. I saw them serve a camper coming in when I went inside to pay. If going to the Sequoias, would say this is a good place to camp before heading up. Do want to mention though if you are not accustomed to Valley summers make sure your A/C works.

Not one of the best KOA; not one of the worst. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.
Always a good road trip stop to pick up a box of cheese and crackers for the car. Got to hang out with Larry the llama and his friends which was really fun. This time I skipped the tree house but it's always so cool to see it. Restaurant and ice cream shop on the side is a nice pit stop too.
Ben Jams — Google review
The dinning area is really nice. Very family friendly. A little on the expensive side but not going to blow your budget. Didn't have many ice cream flavors at the moment but since it's close to summer that might change. Liked the gift shop, had tons of cute items such as: toys for kids, candy tons of candy, funny postcards, and tons of items to remember your trip to Traver. They had some animals: a llama, a goat, 2 donkeys, 2 chickens, a pig, 3 bunnies, 2 quails (I think),a parakeet?, and a PEACOCK 🦚!! The only thing I don't like is that you can't really interact with many of the animals, it's understandable for the safety of the children, but it would be better to get a little closer. Really nice area to spend a couple of hours with your family.

So much to say about this place!! First of all, they have an amazing assortment of different salami's, I got the herb de Provence, and I would've grabbed more if I hadn't been about to travel. I originally pulled over because it said it was a cheese shop, and I happen to love cheese, but in the end because we were driving and I had another 7 or so hours of driving left, only bought non perishable goods. They also have a lot of things made nearby, they had some really awesome nuts, I picked up the cappuccino almonds as well as some toffee pecans. There's also an area where you can buy fresh made fudge that's absolutely amazing!! They offer samples and each of the employees there was super nice. Out in the back area, there is a treehouse that's stupidly high, it took me over 30 seconds to climb to the top and I do not recommend it for claustrophobic people, but it was absolutely fantastic!! I had a lot of fun going to the top, personally. In the back, there's a little petting farm sort of situation where you can pay quarters to feed the animals, there is a donkey as well as a pig and some roosters, peacock and rabbits, as well as we saw a cat walking around, though she seemed to have no interest in us. There is a miniature "shooting" range game, an area to pan for gold/other items and a tiny play ground for the kiddies. There's also a restaurant there on site but we had literally just eaten beforehand so unfortunately, we didn't stop there, but it looked large, clean and like a great place for a family meal. If I'm ever back in this direction for whatever reason, I will definitely stop in again.

Fun, eclectic stop in the middle of nowhere. Plenty to see and do for both adults and children and children, and there is also a small dog park for your 4 legged family member. Bring quarters for the petting zoo, and you will be some sheep and goats best friend! Watch out for the Lama though, he spits! There in an antique barn, a huge shop with plenty of souvenirs and snacks, nice restroom facilities, a fudge shop, restaurant, and a multi-story tree house out back.

Great stop for FAMILIES on the way to camping kings canyon from Southern California. Found this place after one stop a few years ago and it’s a great place for kids to poke around and pet/feed some unusually clean farm animals. Rabbits, llama, chicken, a bird or two, and a couple of mules?/mini donkeys?
There’s inside seating and outside seating. Outside seating has full sun and some shade with mist machines for those who need a break.
They have also built a small dog obstacle course outside that has gate. Not as big as a dog park but something is better than nothing! Probably great for medium to smaller dogs.
Parking can be tight during lunch hours but there’s plenty and an additional gravel lot next to the large barn.
Inside there’s so many treasures, gifts, and candies for kids to adults. Literally all types of gifts from board games to wooden sling shots to wonky mother-law-signs for the yard.
Bathrooms are relatively clean, considering the amount of people that go through there. For males, there’s only a single stall for #2 so ….maybe try the several other gas stations if you really gotta do the dooty.

The best supercharger we stopped at on our road trip! A super fast and not busy charge and bravo farms was fantastic! The food from the restaurant was great and so was the cheese!

Driving down Highway 99 just out of Bakersfield heading towards Fresno, I saw a bunch of signs about shopping at Bravo Farms. They definitely got my attention but really poorly got my attention was a sign that said petting zoo. In that moment I knew I had to stop by so that mom can go and pet some goats.
It’s easy to find right off the highway on the side of the road. Plenty of parking, including handicap parking. Oh and there’s an antique shop off to the right behind the store. But first go through those shop doors and visit the gift shop no matter who’s on your list no matter how hard they are to shop for, you will find something for everybody. There is a restaurant and saloon and a chocolate shop to make a mouth water but the best is yet to come…….
First creature we came upon was a peacock, magnificent bird finally posed for a picture after picking at his feathers, trying to bathe himself. Just beyond that was a pig and I mean a huge pig! Then off to the left were the goats. Oh my gravy, the goats! I’m telling you no matter how old you are 2 to a 100 —I’m telling you petting a goat will make the child within giggle and feel so alive and free no matter where you have been in life. Truly it’s the simple things in life that really matter. If you agree with that statement alone, please like this review with s thumbs up and make your own statement by doing so.
Every trip we make for the Central Valley will include a pit stop off at Bravo Farms. The heart yearns for it, the soul calls for it, but we definitely need it. Thank God for places like Bravo Farms.

Nice spot to stop and stretch your legs and get some yummy goodies. Plenty of truck parking. We got several cheeses and jams, glass bottle milk and Easter egg nog. Everything we've tasted so far has been delicious. It is pricey, but to be expected these days, I wish they had cheese samples though.
The bathrooms are nice, big and clean. Go out back to find a treehouse you can climb to the second story that overlooks the petting zoo animals. The slide down was unexpectedly fast lol. Don't forget the poor sheep they are next to the Tesla chargers and they were very happy for scratches. Nice little dog walk over there too.
We walked across the street for Indian (which was great!) but the restaurant there smelled and looked good too, we'll try it next time.

We stopped to use the Tesla superchargers & found this awesome Gem! Go inside so much cute stuff. Great for kids, ice cream, quick bites & cute gifts to have for keepsakes. Oh & all the yummy cheese!

Bravo Farms is so much fun. I love cheese. This garlic jack is so creamy and delicious. The fudge is perfect. They have a great selection of jams, cheeses, candy and gifts. Stop by.

I have been stopping here for at least 10 years. LOVE the upgrades they have made!
Today I tried the breakfast (usually get lunch) and was pleasantly suprised. The meal was not only plentiful but the price was perfect! ( just under $16 for meal and drink) The pancakes were at least 2 palms big (plus see the pic for how thick they were) and there had to be at least 4 eggs in the scramble!
The grounds are always well kept, the restrooms always clean and stocked, and the animals always look healthy and happy.

Cool roadside attraction with lots of things for everyone.
The petting zoo and kids play area is nice for stretching the legs.
That's with most roadside attractions, everything is pretty expensive, but it's cool that the kids can play for free and you can get a decent meal.

Cool location with a tree house, small farm animals, antique boutique, and ok at best food. The food was pricy and as stated just "ok"; so I don't recommend eating there. $35 (+ tip for them to just ring up my order at the counter) for a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich. The meat at the highest point in each sandwich was 3/8"! I believe I later saw it was 4 oz of meat - sad!!! The meat didn't have a smoked flavor and/or any BBQ sauce to liven it up. They did give you 2 oz of bland coleslaw or 2oz of some type of mixed beans (both were not good and not eaten).
The food took away 2 stars or it would have been 5!!
In short, go for the atmosphere, antiques, cheese, and trinkets but NOT for the food!!!

Super neat place to stop and visit if you are driving along the 99 highway. Once you enter, there is a little gift shop and store where you can buy all these different treats and cheeses. What I really loved was the really cool 7 story treehouse that you can climb inside of. They also have a little animal feeding spot where you can pay a minimal fee of $1 or so to feed the sheep. My daughter and I spent a couple hours browsing around the gift shop and interacting with the animals. Would stop by again if passing through again.

Burger tasted great, which, for costing $25, it damn well better.
Especially after witnessing their SAMPLE-PORTIONED SIDES, with all 12 of my campfire beans being downed in one shot during unbeknownst fasting.
No drink, no way.
Did pay nearly $10 for a micro 3.oz habanero cheddar loaf that tasted okay.
Also, dont make the mistake of grabbing a menu and finding a booth to wait for service.... it'll NEVER COME...idk why they even put the menus out for people to grab, it's misleading.
Check the pic to see what $30 gets one person.

Super clean bathrooms, lots of room to park. Lot's of room to walk around and plenty of stuff to look at. Expensive tourist stop items. Plus cheese, fudge and really good Rosa 🍨 ice cream!!! Staff completely ignored me, even tried to smile and say Hi to the employee at the fudge counter and get her attention but she was involved in the cash register. No one at ice cream counter when I was there. ( My son ended up getting the absolutely delicious ice cream for us)
No prices on drinks and such so I stopped looking.
Cute dog area too!!

Bravo Farms where you can just go visit and have a good time. Enjoy The tasty snacks and treats they have to offer!
Wonderful local gift shop and of course so many raisins! Loved the huge box of raisins outside to take a photo with. Big selection of gift items, other fruits and nuts and a lot of cute things. Glad I finally got to check this out after living and working in Selma almost my whole life.

Good place to pick up load. They surely have heavy loads but they do have scale inside the premises. They will weigh you empty and then after loading is complete. They will tell you your gross weight but they don’t tell you weight on the axels. You will still have to go to the nearest cat scale for weight check to make sure you have correct amount of weight on each axle. But the place is really nice to pick up the load. In and out in less than 2 hours.

So disappointed we went out of our way to go here. Typical shirts, cards, puzzles and products for sale you expect at crummy tourist trap stores a long the highway. We were even hoping to be able to buy some raisans or chocolate covered treats but their prices were higher than we could buy the same thing at a grocery store or a Trader Joe's. No tours of the raisan processing plant we understand but there wasn't even a paragraph of information on how they turn millions of pounds of grapes into raisans and pack millions of boxes. Dont waste your time stopping here. There is nothing to see except for a giant box of raisans out front.

Just a wonderful store full of great treats...and nice postcards.

The best chocolate covered raisins! They have a really good chocolatey flavor, fresh raisins and no wax taste. Costo chocolate covered raisins taste like wax next to these.

I was raised on a 40 acre ranch on what is now almond trees. But it was those 38 acres of Thompson Seedless Grapevines that became part of my "life's blood". I am now 68 years old and I still remember digging around through sweatbox after sweatbox, picking out a handful of those juicy delicious fresh dried raisins. Beings that my Dad was also a truck driver, I would accompany him on many, many loads to the Sun Maid plant in Kingsburg, and was blessed to experience many "behind the scenes" look at production process. (This was back in the early sixties when common sense safety was forefront). I was always fascinated by the bleaching process in particular, but just watching the washing process in general was amazing. Throughout the years my taste for raisins wained save for my favorites, Kellogg's Raisin Brand, and Sun Maid raisin bread. My friend/landlord purchased a sixpack of small boxes of Sun Maid raisins but I was takes back by just how "punny" they all were and attributed it to it being package a couple seasons past. They were nothing close to what I remember eating 10 or 20 years ago. A sign of the times, or a bad year for raisin farmers. She ended up buying a 20 ounce/1 lb. 4 oz. box, and I was still bewildered at the low quality of the raisins. Some were nearly the size of mouse droppings. I'm going to test the market to some degree and purchase a box of Champion brand and one of Dole. I'll come back with an update and pictures. In the meantime I'm hoping this is an exception and not the new quality standard of Sun Maid raisins. -Robert L. Abrahamian Sr.

First came here as a child with my parents. They offered tours of the facility to the public then. My parents knew of it as my mother taught elementary school in Kingsburg about 70 years ago (before I was born). Whenever I am passing through the area I stop at the Sun-Maid Market and purchase boxes of apricot slabs.

Great little stop with items you can only get in store. Take a pic with the largest box of raisins in the world!

I've bought the Sun-Maid raisins all my life and I'm 71. I wouldn't buy any other brand. My parents and their parents bought them too. You cant go wrong with Sun-Maid.

Nice little store. Everything about the sun-maid raisins. Unfortunately, no tour for now.
Historic street with 19th-century buildings developed by early Chinese immigrants to the area.
I'd rather not show photos of china alley but I will. It's not like I remember it from years back when the famous Imperial Dynasty was at its peak when only the rich and famous who would visit from all over the world could afford to sit at a table on the continental side I can't remember which but a president ate there once , I don't remember the exact price but to sit at a table back in 1983 would put you back $400 or $ 500 at the least I know this because sometimes after school (I attended Hanford High ) I would help my mother set all the tables , I liked helping because there was so much too see I was fortunate to step into the huge wine room with the most expensive bottles of wine not to mention the price of a glass of wine , my mother worked there for a few years, and another impressive area there i don't know why I remember it was the ladies powder room or bathroom i walked in to help clean it and I have never seen a bathroom so huge and all the chairs that were placed throughout the waiting area in the room also all the mirrors with there own chair and table decorated throughout out . today there is an area right across on the same lot where people take there plastic and aluminum for recycle , the wing family closed the restraunt a few years back and it has never been the same .The building is still there but to have witnessed it with your own eyes are the only memories good memories one has , most people nowadays have no clue how famous that alley once use to be . I was told a few years back that the building is now used for storage. So sad ! It will always be 5 🌟 for me.

I love this place. It has lost a lot of it's amazing luster over the years. It still stands as a monument to the history of the Chinese community who once lived here 100+ years ago. The alley is famed for it's restaurants as well. The Imperial Dynasty used to host famous actors and politicians. Now it is a quiet little area that doesn't have much going on except a Tea shop, and grocery, but you can still appreciate the ambiance of what was once there.

It was a great little area that really needs some TLC. It was great place to spend some time wondering what it was like during it's hey day. There are several Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Hong Kong and Rice Bowl restaurants are across the street from China Alley. See the pictures I uploaded.
