A must go National park for hiking and recreation.

Probably my favorite part of Canyonlands, the Needles has incredible hiking and views. There are parts of Canyonlands that are so vast that my brain can't fully take it all in. The Needles are up-close and personal and still a bit mind bending. If you can only spend time in one section of the park, I recommend it be this one.
Elyssa Braun — Google review
We did not get to fully explore this park but the views of the canyons were incredible! It does get very dusty and windy at the top so keep that in mind!
I would go back and explore the Needles when we have a full extra day.
Nikolai Belinski — Google review
We visited the Islands in the Sky region and the views were beautiful, especially at the Grand View Overlook at the end.
There are many hiking opportunities, which we were unable to do this time, as well as 4x4 roads which we didn't attempt.
We went in March, which seems a good time as the park was less crowded but the weather was still nice if a little cool
Steve Moore — Google review
Absolutely stunning piece of planet earth. Unlike many National parks that tend to be overcrowded, this park is massive and people are dispersed so you don’t really see anyone else. We drove White Rim Road during Thanksgiving (spent two nights on the trail) and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the trip. I highly recommend White Rim Road in Canyonlands National Park and can’t wait to do it again.
Craig Marolf — Google review
Okay well this is our first visit to this amazing and beautiful park. The staff at the visitor center is amazing and very helpful. They have a water place inside to fill up water. We stayed at the willow flat campground which is very nice and very close to a lot of different hikes. The view points around the park are amazing that are hard really get you to some amazing sites.

Canyonlands' breathtaking vistas and intricate rock formations paint an awe-inspiring masterpiece of nature's artistry. The play of sunlight across its rugged terrain creates a captivating symphony of colors, showcasing the ancient geological history etched into every canyon wall.
Maithreyi Prabhu — Google review
This national park was one of my favorites while on our small road trip. This reminded me so much of the Grand Canyon, but less busy. We went there on a Friday and it was quiet. We were able to do quite a few trails with ease. Bring water, it’s hot with little to no shade.
Steph Gore — Google review
This park is unreal! The Visitors Center has the most amazing canyon view just across from the parking and it only gets better from there. They have a very creative, interactive display on the local geology in the Visitors Center. I visited in early November and I had no issues with crowds or parking. The weather and sights were gorgeous! I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.
Winter Gary — Google review
One of the most epic things I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend white rim trail; less busy than grand view and offers a slightly different lanscape. Also— cleanest outhouse I’ve ever used at white rim trail.
Emmett Blaney — Google review
this place was awesome! The views and viewing access are outstanding. The park is clean and well maintained... lots of restrooms throughout the park. The hiking trails are really fun. I highly recommend seeing the Canyons
Randol Rusconi — Google review
Underrated national park. The north and the south sides are not connected. Camp facilities are good. This park has less visitors, so you can enjoy the quietness in most of the points. Some points do require some serious hiking. My favorite point is the Upheaval dome.
Ora Ora Ora Ora — Google review
Amazing Park. Recommend hiking Mesa Arch very first thing in the morning (6/7am) so you get the view all to yourself. I would then recommend hiking Upheaval Dome (do bring water). Then to top it off, drive to the grand view point for an overlook and a pretty easy flat platform stroll.
Raymond — Google review
Plan ahead for some driving time. There was a wait to enter, about 30 minutes, but it's totally worth it.
Breathtaking views, lots of hiking trails. I definitely recommend a visit.
It did NOT require an advance booking like Arches did. Arches required it, even though the website said it didn't when we checked. For Arches,I recommend calling and confirming the day before so you can book a time.
Joe Slayden — Google review
I was only able to do the island in the sky section which was really cool. You can see all the trails in the canyon for 4wd cars. Not my favorite national park but still pretty amazing.
Daniel Korman — Google review
A beautiful, sweltering hot park in the summer. We visited 2/3 of the districts, Island in the Sky and Needles. In Needles, we did the 6 mile Chesler Park hike to the viewpoint in brutal 100 degree heat before turning around. We did not complete the whole 10 mile loop. If you do decide to hike here in the summer, bring an umbrella for shade and a ton of water. There are several crevices in the park that provide shade but the umbrella was essential when hiking long stretches without any rock formations nearby. Other notable hikes in this district include Cave Spring Trail and Pothole Point. In Island in the Sky, the highlight was Mesa Arch at sunrise and the Grand View Point Overlook hike. Other hikes we did included Upheaval Dome, Whale Rock and a bunch of short overlook hikes. Get a head start if you’re hiking in summer to beat the heat. Overall this is a beautiful and vast park. Although they look extremely close, the driving time between these two districts is over 2 hours.
Aliza Brown — Google review
Very pretty park, the views are amazing. I’d recommend driving all the road and stopping at the viewpoints and doing the short hikes if you only have a day there. I’d love to come back and explore some of the longer 4wd trails as well. Wasn’t expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the park was. There was no line to get in, while arches NP had 45 min wait and timed entry just to get in. Canyonlands NP is definitely worth the visit.
chris landadio — Google review
Beautiful and scenic at every stop. It was surprisingly busy on a Friday but we eventually found parking at each viewpoint . I haven’t been to the Grand Canyon in years but this was equally impressive in my opinion. The vistas were stunning and the way the scenery changed at each turn was amazing. As usual the photos don’t do Justice to the size and depth of the area.
Jacque Lane — Google review
Canyonlands was amazing! Absolutely love the snow capped La Sal Mountains in the distance. Could've spent days seeing every trail but, again no dogs allowed on trails. We had high winds and storm heading in as we were heading out. Perfect timing to start back home.

Canyonlands National Park
Visited on : weekend
Last weekend, I ventured into Canyonlands National Park, where gusty winds accompanied stunning views. Despite the weather, the park's panoramic vistas of towering rock formations and vast canyons were awe-inspiring. While one day sufficed for sightseeing without extensive hiking, be prepared for the wind. Canyonlands is a must-visit for nature lovers seeking unforgettable scenery.
Kiran Roge — Google review
Incredible park and underrated in my opinion. Went in not knowing a ton about it and was blown away by the canyon vistas. Parts of the park are super remote and tougher to reach so prepare in advance. Don’t go on icy switchbacks too quickly because we saw a car get stranded on the way down into the canyon. Off season was otherwise a great time to visit with very little crowds - felt like we had the park to ourselves.
Kaylan Mills — Google review
The canyon is something else, the views are amazing. Went to that National Park as Arches had an unreserved time slot for 4pm unless previously purchased a ticket in advance. Canyonlands did not disappoint, Happy it worked out that way.
Edward Eilers — Google review
This is an amazing national park - vast! Truly, the breadth of it is breathtaking!
Try to catch the sunset at Grand View point overlook. I’d recommend doing the in-and-out hike. The views are amazing at the end of the hike. The green river overlook is gorgeous too! We didn’t do the mesa arch since we’d seen a lot of arches that morning.
The park actually has two parts - one is along the road of Island in the sky visitor center. The other one is by the needles visitor center(closed during winter).
Swap — Google review
The view is incredible, the sunsets and sunrises are mesmerizing. But the sky at night... I was camping and I woke up at like 3am, I just glanced outside all sleepy. A sky full of stars like you've never experienced before.

Definitely a must. So beautiful. So much to do. You could spend a few hours or days here! The more time the better! Clean. Lots of cows around. I went in the first week of spring so not many other animals seen.

Best stops along Morrison to Grand Canyon National Park drive
The top stops along the way from Morrison to Grand Canyon National Park (with short detours) are Mount Blue Sky, Maroon Bells, and Vail. Other popular stops include Breckenridge Ski Resort, Bear Lake Trailhead, and Winter Park Resort.
Bear Lake Trailhead is a popular starting point for a short nature trail that loops around a stunning high-altitude lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. This alpine gem, located at the end of Bear Lake Road and framed by the Tyndall Gorge, offers breathtaking views that are perfect for postcard shots. The area is also an amazing hiking destination with numerous spectacular trails and lakes to explore throughout summer, winter or fall. However, visitors should be prepared for sudden weather changes.
Love Bear Lake! Great scenery. Very peaceful and a short and easy trail to walk when there is no snow. Might be a bit more challenging if there’s a lot of snow on the ground. Still a great trail!
Sharon Landis — Google review
This is a fantastic place to visit. Bear lake itself is a leisurely walk around the lake, with amazing views and great wildlife including deer. However, from Bear Lake Trailhead there are lots of other hikes. I went up as far as Emerald Lake on the first hike. Its not too strenuous and only takes a couple of hours there and back. If you want, you can walk for miles from here. The only difficult bit is getting the tickets during the summer now to park at bear lake. I got there at 6am and there were already a lot of avid hikers setting off. Definitely somewhere to visit.

Bear Lake is my all time favorite for all of our out of town friends. Any time any seasons! We had friends visiting from UK and California in May 2023, they enjoyed Bear Lake so much! This is a easy and family friendly hike. Bear Lake parking lot is always busy.

Mid April snowy hike. Slushy and a little slippery but totally worth it. Great views, and easy terrain. We also did a short hike that went up to the left from the entrance before we headed to this one. Both were good, the one to the left was a little harder just because it was up the whole way. Definitely worth the trip.
jenni reid — Google review
Always a beautiful hike! We went up to emerald lake. The paths were sanded all the way up which helped with traction. It was sunny and warm even on a windy day. This hike is pretty easy but always enjoyable.
Veronica Joyce — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. The parking lot was a little busy compared to other locations in the park but worth the wait to find a spot. The trail is easy to walk both of you are just walking to the lake or walking around the lake. I visited at the end of the season and the lake was almost frozen. Amazing! The rangers were so helpful with all information about the trail and other parks of the park.
Sajleen — Google review
Hiked up to Emerald Lake and Haiyaha. Coming from Minnesota (950 ft. elevation), this trail was moderately hard going up, but the incredible views made the hike worth it. Recommended to start early in the morning for cool temps and less crowd. The trail starts filling up after 11 AM.
Abhishek Patil — Google review
Nice and easy, great view of the glacier, lake, and peaks.
If you are interested in extra hikes, the trail split point is only 100 feet away. We were able to hike all the from bear lake to the Park and Ride.
Peng Chen (Marcus) — Google review
Beautiful snowy hike. The views on lakes were amazing. We hiked a loop up to Emerald Lake. It was a strenuous hike at times but nothing too extreme. Hiking poles/ spike boots recommended for snowy conditions. If not used to heights, more often breaks might be needed to catch a breath. As temperatures are rather low, have an extra layer packed for a hike down as you might get cold.
Kasia Drzewiecka — Google review
Parking was scarce, so I asked the staff at the Visitor Center and was advised to take a chance. we waited in line for about half an hour or so at 12:00pm on a Sunday and got a spot.
There was a lot of snow and ice on the road in mid-March, so we recommend always wearing ice crampons. The road is not too difficult overall and the scenery is great.
Yuhui Zhang — Google review
Amazing hiking area with tons of spectacular trails and lakes to visit. It is good for summer winter or fall. Be prepared for inclimate weather on a moments notice. I recommend the hike to emerald lake or Odessa lake as well as the flattop mountain/ Halley peak hike.
Alex Farmer — Google review
Super easy hike. You can bring your toddler and easily finish. Beautiful lake. I got there at 6 am mid October. Empty parking lot. I highly recommend getting there early. You can hit up all of the lakes from here.
Ayumi Fielden — Google review
A must-do item when you are in Rocky Mountain National Park. Has to be one of the first thing you do. We did the entire hike from Bear Lake to Emerald Lake - All four lakes are supremely gorgeous and different. We did Bear Lake at night too, also when it was Sunny and in early morning overcast conditions. We really think mornings are the best time for the hike and scenery not only here but most of the RMNP.
Santosh Shetty — Google review
It's a pretty little lake with nice scenery and the walk is pretty easy. It's a gravel trail with the highest incline of 16 percent. It is a crazy busy location so your best bet is to get a trained entry with access to Bear Lake road specifically and go early.
Eve Kennedy — Google review
Hint: Either make reservations at least a week or two in advance or arrive before 5a when the ranger station opens.
Came out around 4:45a on the weekend in the Summer. This was to arrive before the ranger station opened and to catch the sunrise. There was plenty of parking at this time. There's plenty of restrooms and trail maps at the parking lot. Be sure to wear sunscreen, bring water, and pack snacks.
The trail is clearly marked and easy to flow. Many different areas to stop, rest, take pictures, and take in the scenery. Views are amazing with a good balance of water, mountains, and greenery. It is a popular trail, but didn't get overly crowded and people were considerate.
There's several trails to take, so total time will vary, but 2-3 hours would be an average amount of time. There is a decent elevation change but it's gradually and on well paved trails. Good place to come for a nice hike with amazing scenery.
LeWayne Ballard — Google review
Absolutely amazing trail with the best views. Definitely do all 5 alpine lakes, completely worth it. Took about 4 hours to do all lakes. Each one more beautiful than the other.
Jim M. — Google review
This is such a great place to check out! Not only can you park close in order to include small children, there are public restrooms there as well. The trail itself is very short, from the edge of the parking lot to the lake is 256 ft. The lake is beautiful during the winter, completely covered in snow and ice.
Even during the winter this is a very popular stop. That being said, it is easy to share the trail and enjoy the lake.
Aaron Decker — Google review
Well maintained even in the snow.
Clean and organized. Got snow a foot deep during March end. Loved the drive. Could see a red fox roaming around.
inferno d — Google review
We went on a day when the weather was beautiful! There was still snow on the ground and starting to melt but the rangers and volunteers were so kind and kept things as safe for folks as they started their trek.
From the parking lot entrance to the lake, it’s only about 250ft, making it a super easy path! Since the lake was frozen, it was different than I’d imagined but you could walk on the frozen lake which was fun!
Reina P — Google review
This hike was beyond moat hikes I have ever gone on. I've been hiking across various states and European countries, and this hike was one my favorite by far. The views were amazing, the lakes were really cool to walk on, and the paths were exactly what was expected. Highly recommend this hike as it was not extremely difficult, but not recommended for dogs or kids.

Such a gorgeous trail that we did it twice! Get there early if you can. Parking is very scarce. Watch out for wildlife if you’re driving in when it’s dark

Beautiful view! Most of the lake was frozen and you can walk on it. There are multiple trails which leads you to different lakes. Make sure you check the sunset and return before the sun is down.

Absolutely perfect final day in the park. Loved the cold morning air. Much of the lake was frozen, which provided for a magical setting. Almost no other people were there at 9am so I had the place to myself.

The most beautiful place I've ever been! My son and I hiked to the top about 10,000 ft. The people were friendly. I had to take it slow and that I just moved to Colorado 6 months ago. Altitude takes time! I believe this hike changed my life. It was incredible. Absolutely beautiful!!! A must see! 🙏

it is so beautiful!! I can’t wait to visit on summer to see different view! you can walk around the lake( or even on top at the time we when) there are several trail you can go, we didn't complete it but it can be a short walk or long! People also go there skiing, so cheap that you don't need to pay for the ticket to resort and not much people there which is surprising, I was think it will be a lot of people bc spring break. Emerald Lake is a beautiful high alpine lake located in Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail to the lake is moderately difficult and rewards hikers with stunning views of 12,000-foot peaks as well as three other lakes on the hike. Hikers should visit Emerald Lake early in the morning before it becomes crowded, as this is a popular hiking destination.
The first half of the hike was pretty tough for a beginner like me due to the uphill climb. But it got easier at the end. Had to take a few breaks. Take a lot of water/vitamin water and some snacks. The view was worth the hike.
Greeshma Sasikumar — Google review
It was a fun hike all the way. Mostly easy but some parts can be considered medium difficulty mainly due to snow. But overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. And the lake at the bottom really made me feel like it was all worth it. I don't know if there were multiple paths to hike from but the one we went to had a lake at the bottom too. It was great seeing both lakes and all the views along the way. Also there was a tap at the foot of the mountain that you can fill your bottles up with pure mountain spring water. When you're there, you MUST try that water, that's probably the best water I've tasted ever.
Anyway, this is one of the great hikes that you should go at least once. I'd even recommend it to out-of-towners visiting Denver or Colorado.

Absolutely breathtaking spot. Well worth the hike out and back. I recommend getting there early and packing a lunch. Once you get all the way up there you're gonna wanna hang out for a while. The views were incredible second to none. The hike was great too. Not rough at all. Kinda long. The scenic views just get better and better so enjoy it.

The trail is snowy and icy still so be careful. We saw lots of people slipping and sliding and even falling down. As always beautiful views.

The hike was not easy with snow, but doable if you are careful. Recommend micro spikes in the winter, the whole experience is worth it!! Must visit!

The hike to this lake was beautiful, beyond anything you can even imagine. Highly recommend going through the whole hike and pushing yourself to make it to this lake. When we were here, it was over 100mph winds, so make sure to be prepared for that. Definitely worth it though.

The hike upto emerald lake is medium level. But once you reach there the views are breathtaking. Take sufficient amount of water.

I was reluctant to go because I had too much fun the night before and my group was leaving at 6:30 am to drive to the park from Denver (hour-ish drive, also amazing scenery, especially the contrast in mountains and the neat little mountain towns). I’m glad I remembered to set my alarm and go to Rocky Mountain National Park, walk the trail and see Emerald Lake. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s one of the most beautiful and breathtaking (literally because you’re 10,000 feet high in altitude) views you will ever see. The entire trail and other lakes leading up to it was fun and easy to navigate with more extraordinary views. Regardless if you are on 2 hours sleep and hungover, this lake will change your life. 10/10

Totally worth it!! It's a 1.8mile one way hike to Emerald lake. Lake was frozen. On the way you ll see bear lake, dream lake, nymph lake. Please use spike shoe or trekking boots. snow boots wasn't necessary. Layering is essential. Please take your time and hike.. At least you need 2.5 hrs plus to complete the round hike . Plus to enjoy the views

This was our last trail we did during our hiking adventure in Rocky Mountains National Park in Colorado. We hiked in mid October and actually got to so see snow flurries! I gotta say to hike with temperatures in the 30s is not for everyone but we did and enjoyed it so much! In order to avoid crowds we got to the park at 8:00 am. Most people were arriving about 10:00 am because of the cold weather but it was perfect for us Floridians 😃
Emerald Lake is more flat than other trails we hiked and smaller round that sits at the base of a bowl of peaks that wraps around on three sides. But nevertheless, it was just as beautiful and a perfect end to the three lake hike.
We thoroughly enjoyed nature and had so much fun! 😃
Lourdes Summerdancer — Google review
Gorgeous hike that's upwards the mountain. The trail can be difficult when there's still a couple feet of snow on the ground. I would recommend bringing spikes / hiking poles or looking to hike when the trails are more clear.
Bear Lake itself it very accessible. The hikes gets progressively more difficult as you reach Nymph and Emerald Lakes. This is a popular trail so you'll see lots of other hikers.
Kevin Wang — Google review
Absolutely beautiful!! Well worth the hike.
Would recommend starting the hike at 5 AM because as the sun rises it bathes the mountains in beautiful golden light.
It does get quite chilly with the wind so pack a sweater.

Beautiful hike to emerald lake! About 1.8 miles from bear lake. You will pass through other lakes like nymph lake at 0.5 mile and dream lake at 1.1 mile. Slight elevation going there, not a very difficult hike. The path is covered with ice still which makes it slight difficult. We use spike which was really helpful for walking on the ice. You can rent or buy the spike downtown.

Amusement park ride
Hand-carved animals on a restored 1910 merry-go-round, with a 1913 Wurlitzer organ & $3 rides.
This has been one of my kids favorite places, especially because we got to go during Covid. This is a special place. So glad the upstairs has been reopened, and my kids want to play with the puppet show always. Such a great story, we love everything about the carousel of happiness.

So cute! What a neat story behind this place and beautiful carvings on the animals. Lots of hard work and dedication in there. The upper floor "viewing room" and party room left something to be desired, but it's for kids and they enjoyed the puppet show room :) Good price to get on the ride, worth it for the experience.

Worth a visit, this is such a novel and whimsical experience. My family has always loved carousels and this is an old, storied one that topped our list. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly. Cost $3/person and the ride wasn't too short, and the music was so loud and classic that I felt transported to a carnival. We drove out to Nederland just to visit this place and it didn't disappoint.

A favorite stop whenever we are in the mountains! They have the cutest gift shop and everyone who works here is so nice. They are happy to explain everything!
Take time to walk through the line and read the history of the carousel.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the fairies!
Above the cash register is a cute puppet theater for the kids to play in and a great view of the carousel from the top!

Always a happy place and you will see all ages enjoying the carousel. Three dollars per ride.

Unfortunately we were there on one of their maintenance days (Tues and Wed during the winter). But they let us look it over and takeall the pictures we wanted. You just don't find that hospitality in big towns.
The Argo Gold Mill and Tunnel is a renowned attraction located in Idaho Springs, featuring a former gold mine and mill that was established in 1912. Visitors can embark on guided tours that offer historical insights into the mining operations of the past. The tour also includes an exciting gold-panning activity for visitors to enjoy.
We had a great tour by Kris and learned so much about the amazing history of Argo! We loved going through the Mill and seeing all that has been preserved over the years. The tour was an hour and starts with a quick informative video, then we moved through the outdoor area to the mill. You do have to climb 6 steep flights of stairs at one point but there is also an option to not go all the way up and sit on some benches if you can’t make it. The actual tunnel is very short but impressive! Make sure to bring cash to tip your tour guide! We really enjoyed ourselves and were so happy to have finally taken the tour as it’s been on our list.
My only complaint is the gal working the desk inside acted as if we were annoying her by asking simple questions when we bought our ticket. Sorry, but you work in tourism and people have questions. Maybe if you are bothered by communicating with customers, this isn’t the industry for you.

This is primarily a Mill tour. The actual mine tunnel is blocked beyond a hundred feet due to water flow. Our guide Ali was knowledgeable and had a great personality. She did miss certain relevant facts but was prodded by groups questions. A few of the facts provided seemed far fetched to me. The price for the tour was definitely on high side. It was interesting to see the Mills inter workings. As for the gold panning, it was kinda lame. The same little flakes they sold at the gift shop were added to the prefilled pans (my opinion). Everyone in my party had from 3-4 flakes in the pan. A small bottle sold in gift shop for $12.99 and had a great deal more flakes.

Was planning to do a tour here with my girlfriend and service dog, but was told it was really dusty, my girlfriend is highly allergic to dust and also didn't think it'd be good for my dog and myself also. So we settled for a pan of sand that has gold flake in it to pan ourselves. We got some instructions from one of the employees and they were there to answer any questions and were thorough with the initial instructions/training to pan for the gold so you could follow the instructions easily and understand them easily. It was a really fun time, many different things to look at in the gift shop too.

The Argo Gold Mill and Tunnel is a fascinating peek into history as well as a monument to ingenuity and physical labor.
I hadn’t done my homework before taking the tour and was surprised by what the tunnel actually is. It is a national historic site and an EPA superfund site. It is not a gold mine. The slightly over 4 mile tunnel was actually an access mechanism for men to get to the gold mines between Idaho Springs and Central City. They would mine the ore which was then transported back to the ARGO mill for processing.
You only get to go a few hundred feet into the tunnel before you hit a wall constructed by the EPA to keep flooded tunnel water contained for processing. Don’t let this dissuade you from the tour! A knowledgeable guide will entertain you with history and a thorough walk through the mill with explanations of how they turned ore into gold.
Also, don’t be concerned with physical exertion. A bus takes you from the tour center to the top of the mill and portal entrance. It is all down hill and stairs from there.
Your tour is wrapped up back at the tour center with a lesson in gold panning. Truth be told, I was planning on skipping that part thinking it was entertainment for kids. Don’t skip it. I had a ball reducing a pan full of sand to a few flecks of gold that you get to keep.
The tour is worth every penny of the $25 it cost. I now have more respect for the hard work and evolving technology used at the tunnel and mill over its working life.

Fascinating tour of the mill, which processed hundreds of millions of dollars of gold ore, up until 1944.
The tour guides are entertaining and very knowledgeable, presenting lots of interesting information about the history of the area and the industry. The tour leads through the mill building and a short way inside the 4.5 mile-long tunnel. Guided gold panning is also included in the ticket price.
Note that visits will involve a climb about 100 narrow wooden stairs to get to the top and some of the outside sections can be icy or muddy in winter.

$25 per ticket for adults. Most the original artifacts in mill was sold for scrap years ago. I think tourist trap fits this well.
Our guide must have been pretty new as he kept looking at the script “as he called it” he did not seem too enthusiastic about his role as guide. He asked if there’s any questions and two seconds later he continued with his speech, not giving anyone A real opportunity to ask a question. Also He walked in front of everybody “as a tour guide should” but while he was talking he did not turn to face us. Wifey and I could not understand a thing he was saying. At the end of the tour you get to do d so one gold panning, each pan given has 3 flakes of Gold “per our guide” worth about $4 which is prepared buy the powers that be ahead of time. “This was also told to us by our guide” I appreciated his honesty but that really does not say much about the organization that runs this place. I have been to 4 mine tours in my life and hands down this was the worst. Just a few miles away is the George Town loop railroad which also give a mine tour “I highly recommend going there and skip this one all together, it’s just not worth it.

Tours are offered here, but the times did not fit into our schedule and with my allergies, and the dust conditions, we decided that it would not work. So I took some pictures instead.
An interesting trivia item about the name of Idaho Springs town is that it was named before Idaho was. When the territory was created in 1861, the U.S. Congress decided to name this area Colorado Territory, but by the time this decision was made, the town of Idaho Springs, Colorado had already been named after a proposal made by a politician named George M. Willing.

A historical experience of how the gold rush started, and an interactive experience of how to pan for gold!
The tour is well worth it as you get to explore both the giant mill and the tunnel into the mountain. Our guide was educated and made the whole thing interesting!
To pan for gold at the end was really fun! My wife and I came home with 7 gold flakes.
Whether you're a tourist to the area or a local, it's a fun date!

This was such a great experience for our entire family. It was fun learning about the history and our four year old was so excited to pan for some gold and gems at the end.
I cannot say enough how thankful I was for the friendly staff here. We have a 1 year old that was having a crying fit before and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make sure we were comfortable so we could all enjoy the tour. Definitely would recommend this if you are in the area.

The Argo Mining tour was incredibly enjoyable, and rich with historical information. Our tour guide, Josh, was very knowledgeable and charismatic. I definitely recommend the tour!

Nick was our tour guide and knew the history well. Fairly priced for the experience you get. There are lots of stairs so be prepared with comfortable shoes. At the end of the tour you can pan for gold or jewel stones. If you’re not a patient person I’d recommend the jewels. The tour guides work for tips so please remember to bring cash. I’d also recommend that if you’re not from the mountains do this after a few days so you can get acclimated to the altitude. Drink plenty of water before and after you come.

This was a very cool stop in Idaho Springs. The people were great and the tour was very fascinating. Me and my friends enjoyed it. We went at the Noon tour and there were 25 of us. Cost is $25 for adults. It was about 1.5 hours in length. At the end you get to pan for gold. We all got a few flakes.

Great tour - I had skipped before this because my expressed claustrophobia about the tunnels, but you're only in a 40 to 50 foot tunnel and only for a few minutes & you can skip it without loss. Most of the tour is in the mill and that is incredibly fascinating. It's amazing to see how gold production polluted the environment and how the cost for cleaning that has now been shifted to taxpayers. And you have to just wonder at the people who worked in such conditions.

I was shocked from the history behind the Argo Mill. Our guide was very knowledgeable about everything through the tour. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. With all the pictures inside, a nice gentlemen advised to see the visitor center while I waited for the tour to start. If you have an hour, it's a 5 minute walk "over the river, and through the woods, to the visitor center you go." Technically the woods are a bridge.^^ It's remarkable to see just how much work was done to preserve this piece of Colorado.

The tour was great. It's not my first gold mine tour. The mill was awesome. Show up about 15 to 20 minutes. We showed up right as one was leaving. So we had to wait an hour. But we adventure around and took some pictures. At the end of the tour, you got to pan for gold. Each container didn't have much gold.

Our tour guide was great! It’s a must see if you’re spending some vacation time up in the mountains. There was a lot to see, learn, and explore about the history of Ago Gold Mines. Would recommend taking your slightly older kids who can comprehend and appreciate the educational aspect to this landmark :)
Kristie Lee — Google review
Very informative tour with an awesome tour guide! Focused less on the actual mining and more on the processing of the mined materials, which is different from all of the other local mine tours. Great for people who want to learn how the gold is extracted from the rocks. The gold panning at the end was a fun experience and great for kids and adults!

I was in Colorado and thought it would be fun to see a gold mine. Although we didn’t go too far into the mine, I did enjoy this experience. After a quick in and out of the entrance to the mine, you tour the mill and you can check out the museum and pan for gold. There were about 12 on the tour I think, just one child and it was about an hour I think. The tour guide was very knowledgeable in the history.
I went the Tuesday after Labor Day. I didn’t buy a ticket online and got there a little before noon. That tour was full so I just waited until 1p. Probably a good idea to buy tickets a head of time over the summer and on weekends if you don’t have time to wait.
I think this is appropriate for kids. I think the ticket was $25, I don’t remember exactly. Check the website to be sure.
Parking lot is stone and not very big. I’d imagine if they are busy they would run out of room but you can probably park in town or on the street. There was a little park within walking distance with playground equipment and a restroom. The visitors center is also within a 5 min walk and they have a small museum.

My wife and I took the tour today and we both we're impressed. Our guide Andrew, was extremely knowledgeable and his lecture was concise and very informative along with bits of humor kept the group entertained. While it’s no longer a working mine, don’t let that stop you. The tour provides how their mine operated at the turn of the 19th century up through WWII. The gold panning was fun for both kids and adults.

I have to admit I was disappointed in the tour. The mill was neat and it is huge. The tunnel history is neat as well, but there is not much to see of the tunnel. Our tour was less than an hour. They have done a good job preserving the history. There is a gift shop that has some neat souvenirs as well.
Simple resort offering basic rooms & log cabins, plus a mineral water pool & a spa.
My husband and I got massages and spent time in the hot springs for our honeymoon. We loved our experience! The massage therapists were professional and did a great job. The hot springs felt amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Plus, the price was super affordable and totally worth it. A hidden gem in the mountains. I want to come back soon!

After reading the reviews, our stay at this unfussy hotel was a pleasure. Bring a fan as there is no AC and an extension cord because you can open the windows but there is not an outlet near the window. You’ll want to bring in that fresh mountain air. Our check in was easy and friendly. We had the “options” explained to us and realized that the hot springs pool was the best option for us, which we enjoyed and it gave a “Cocoon” vibe and we loved it. We bought our own pillows as suggested by other reviewers and that was a good idea. The bed was nice, rooms were clean and quiet. Our battery went out in our smoke detector and they were quick to get it taken care of once we brought it to their attention. We were in a comfortable walking distance from town and felt safe during the day and night walking back and forth. The caves are gender separated with clothing optional. This shouldn’t be a surprise to ANYONE coming in because they tell you this when you’re selecting your options. Based on this stay, we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for an enjoyable 3 day weekend!

I just love this old historic place. I usually take my family members that come in to visit here because there is a Jacuzzi that you can rent outside that shows the beautiful scenery of the mountains and woods in trees and even in the snow it’s amazing. Their gift shop absolutely to die for the selection of very unusual clothes and tons of swimsuits and all sorts of other unique items on top of the normal yellow shirt with the logos on it. That historical value hasn’t changed much as far as there is not the amenities of full air conditioning and stuff like that but the caves that are both male and female, completely worth doing. I’m definitely bring something plastic to put your wet clothes in as just a heads up. Relaxing there is no caves that are both genders. So I understand if you’re coming as a couple, you would be separated by doing son something great for a girls day.

If you're a hot springs fan, this is not a place to miss! The pool area is great for kids or extended soaks. The cave pools are incredibly hot, more than any official hot spring I've visited, and felt amazingly therapeutic. We loved that they were 18+, as everyone down there had a mutual respect for the quiet meditation and relaxing healing we were all seeking.
For a day trip the pricing here is fairly standard, but the value of a resort room can't be beat--it's definitely worth staying a night to get 2 full days of access to the springs for free. The rooms were exactly as described online.

Me and my husband drove 2 hours from Colorado Springs to experience this Hot Springs geothermal soaking. We absolutely loved the cave. the mineral water pool was warm, not too hot. the cave was HOT. Cool place to visit but DO NOT STAY AT THE LODGE!
The good: We had a fun time at the pool (it's got all sorts of tropical plants if you're a plant lover), the caves were very hot and relaxing, and we got an absolutely fantastic massage! The hot springs itself was a good time.
The bad: The room. We had a lodge suite that left a lot to be desired. Our room was riddled with gnats and other bugs, largely in part to an open window with a broken screen. We thought no biggie, we'll just shut the window and problem solved. Well this morning my wife and I woke up to roaches in the bed. We got out of there pretty quick after that.
The room itself is really dingy and not as advertised online. Lots of peeling plaster, bad carpet smell, and a sad shower with the head falling out. I understand that they're doing renovations and hopefully will get the lodge up to speed at some point, but this was certainly not a room worth roughly $250 a night.

Great hot spring!!! Really cool hot spring supply spout was super nice and really hot. Huge pool with lots of room to move around. Nice temperature to sit in for a while, stayed for 1.5 hours. Nice changing rooms, beautiful plants to look at and really nice music selection. Nice to have lockers and cubby space. Wish someone was staffing the bar area.

My friend took me out for a surprise trip and we ended up at Indian Hot Springs.
Loved the Service and the facilities where clean and warm.
The pool was awesome albeit a tiny bit colder than what i would have liked, it was still nice and warm and I still felt suuuper relaxed after we came out and all in all was a great experience.
Oh and the jungle setting at the one pool was awesome.
and the cave part was amazing too.

Only ding the rooms because of a bad experience in the main building. All the other new renovations are amazing. Love the pool. Love going up there. Love the private caves. Love the mud baths! Everything is simply amazing up there. Highly recommend great trip , during the week for the private caves clothing optional and over the weekend. Of course clothing required in the private caves. Family friendly environment kiddie pool lots of plants growing in their atrium it is an indoor pool. There are private pot tubs outside attached to some of the units that you can rent for the night.

Overall, this is a great facility with many options. I found the pool to be a little annoying with families and kids treating it like a neighborhood recreation center, jumping and bringing pool toys when people are trying to relax. But where this place really shines is the geothermal hot pools. I loved the quiet rooms and the natural feel of the caves. Very nice that they also have clothing optional days. Great experience!

We have been coming to this hot springs for 5 years, and it's exciting to see the new upgrades that have been added lately.
A dining hall with a lounge area is great, with a few games to keep the kids entertained.
The plants in the main pool area are looking healthy, great job with the upkeep in the greenhouse.
Nice improvements.

We had an excellent time at Indian Hot Springs. I was a little nervous reading some of the reviews before we went that mentioned the heat of the water but we were pleasantly surprised. We rented the private jacuzzi(the chief) our first night and it was beautiful, I highly recommend! It was fenced in around us with a little changing room for you. We also checked out the private baths which were great as well. It was like a sauna and hot tub in one. The water was VERY hot in the private baths (we were in bath D) almost too hot for me but my boyfriend loved it. The pool was a good experience, obviously not as hot as the other spots since it's the last one to get the water but still warm like bath water. My favorite part of the pool area was all the tropical plants, definitely makes for a cool atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and our room was clean and located right across the street.

We've been going to Indian Hot Springs once or twice a year for the last 5 years or so. Last weekend was our 2nd time staying there
The first time we stayed in the Lodge, and decided immediately that we wouldn't do that again.
This time we stayed in one of the cabins. It is a little tiny home, and looked great at first glance. Unfortunately, it actually wasn't that great. There was dust all over the fans and ceiling, a hole in the bathroom sink, super cheap curtains and curtain rods that made it difficult to get any real privacy, and the hood fan over the stove, which looks like it was actually vented through the roof, had no power going to it, resulting in the smoke alarms going off multiple times while we were searing a steak for my birthday dinner.
There was a sign in the kitchen asking to leave the water running so the pipes didn't freeze, despite the sign despite the sign in the bathroom asking to conserve resources by not being wasteful with water or towels.
We rented one of the outdoor hot tubs for a couple hours for my birthday, but it wasn't very hot. By the time we'd decided that we couldn't be out there any longer, they'd shut down all of the other outdoor tubs, but would not refund us for the first hour. We went to one of the private indoor caves to use up the rest of our time and warm up.
All in all, it seems like, despite the amount of money this place is obviously making ($266 per night for the cabin after taxes & fees and $28.50 per person, per hour for the outside tubs), they're not actually maintaining any of the infrastructure on the property. The tubs, rooms, and overall building are all in disrepair, and there is no evidence that the staff or management are trying to fix anything.
At the end of the day, I don't think we'll be going back to Indian Hot Springs again.

So much fun to visit, I love to visit Hot Springs in every state that has Hot Springs. I am from Alaska, so I am used to all types of hot springs, be it non-maintained hot springs all the way to resort-based hot springs. This Hot Springs is more of a resort based Hot Springs but, first I have ever experienced a indoors, botanical gardens along side, a Hot Springs. We went in the middle of the week, mid afternoon, so it wasn’t packed. It was wonderful to be able to relax in the main Hot Springs. We did book a outdoor Hot Springs, which was a Jacuzzi tub. That seems to be a average Jacuzzi tub, I couldn’t figure out if they use the hot springs water versus just normal water, but it was fun to visit, Indian Hot Springs and the relaxing environment that they have created. I would definitely return and share this experience with other friends.

We went for day-use and did not partake of the full "spa" experience. The pool was a nice diversion for a few hours while on a road trip with other destinations. The vegetation, if you're a plant person, is amazing. We had a wonderful, relaxing soak before hitting the road again. It's quaint, if a bit dated, with mature clientele. A very serene spot.

My fiance and I rented a private bath and let me say, it was not at all what we expected. It feels like a dungeon with terrible lighting! I would sooo not recommend! Especially not for $70!!! The atmosphere makes it worth bout $10. The pool and caves look nice, although we did not visit so I can't say much. I don't like how the caves are split genders though. It would be great if the private baths provided the same type of atmosphere as the caves. If that were the case, I would come back. Also, I find it petty that after paying $70 for an hour, they also charge an additional $7 to use a towel that they are going to wash and charge the next sucker $7! In closing, if you insist on visiting, bring your own towel.

I came here on a last minute visit and I am so glad I did. We were able to book a massage for my boyfriend and I with Tara and she is amazing! I am so thankful that she was able to take us as a walk in.
We also dipped into the caves, which were super relaxing, dark, and clothing optional during the week (gender separated). I wish they had a bit more ambiance and maybe even spa music, as I feel that would make the experience a bit heightened. The cave water was much hotter than the pool area, but I secretly wish they had a higher temp pool ( my preference is super hot). Once you get out of the caves, you can relax in the rest area next to the locker room to make sure you're hydrated.
The pool area is also really nice if you bring family and friends, as this is co-ed. The design is beautiful, as you're basically in a greenhouse full of tropical plants. Super relaxing!
Overall, I would definitely come back, and next time I would make sure to bring outside food so I don't have to leave the building!

The main pool itself is nothing special but fine :) the bath rooms that you can rent are good for four people, but it would have been nice if they were a little more comfortable and a little easier to cool off before getting back in because it is hot in there. We turned off the lights - highly recommended. The whole place needs a bit of a refresh. The changing rooms are cramped, and not that I care, but the men's rooms open straight to the hallway...you'll get a show with the right (or wrong depending on your sensibilities) timing.

Not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating? The affordability and quality are equally as great!
My family and I really enjoyed this place. Gorgeous plants everywhere!! The springs pool had more children of course, so if you are looking for a child free zone I'd recommend only booking the cave area. Super quiet and relaxing down there.
Side note** If you happen to have a larger body and are hesitant about going to a hot springs or spa. Then I definitely suggest coming here, very size inclusive place and judgment free staff.

Really was expecting more but it is what it is. Wanted a private room just to relax and be away from people, so we did get a private pool, which smelt like chlorine. The water was really hot, felt good but you couldn't stay in it too long. A good 5 to 10 minute soak, then just out for a cool shower to cool off before getting back in. I walked through the caves and they looked really cool. Will definitely try that next time. They also have a gift shop with a good selection of Colorado souvenirs.

We were staying in Denver and drove out for a hike and did this after. I did the cave pools and a friend did the larger pool. The cave pools are gender specific and clothing optional. A lot of people on the women's side choose that option. There are 4 or 5 cave pools that are 'sectioned off' into bays for individual use (obviously open but if it's busy you may get a neighbor). A couple of the areas have tiled benches to sit/lay if being in the water is too much. When you first walk in to the area the lockers are in a room to the left. The bathroom is a little further to the right and opens to a lounging area. From there you can go to the showers or the cave pools. A lot of people move between the cave pools and the cooler lounging area.
The larger pool is reportedly not a hot and has a variety of temperatures to explore. Clothing is required and the larger pool is family friendly - children are welcome

What an extremely unique and relaxing place! Our room was completely renovated from what the pictures show online which was a nice surprise. From the people at the front desk to the woman who cleaned the room- the staff was so welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere of the pool is so cool and just so much fun and relaxing all at the same time. The caves were even cooler- not temperature wise lol. The ONLY thing I would have liked during our stay was a blow dryer in our room. But other than that, everything was so good. Perfect Valentine’s Day get away!

Came on a Saturday afternoon to try out their private hot tub. Service was okay. The hot tub was a fun experience, but it was scorching HOT!! We went to the front desk and asked them if they could turn down the temp and said it was not adjustable. Mind you, the outside temp was in the 40s, and the hot tub was still super hot. Reservations made online are easiest, and they accommodated us on a change of date.

This place is really cool. I loved the plants everywhere. It was like being in a tropical oasis in the chilly mountains. But this place should not allow children. We didn't know it was a den of inequity lol. The pool was full of couples making out in the steamy mineral water. And they had every right to but the employees could have warned us. Also the cost is pretty high for what it is.

The water here is magical!!! You have the best of both worlds!!!! There's a tropical pool area and an amazing underground cave!!! I can't decide which was my favorite out of the two! They also have private soaking rooms!!! The changing rooms and relaxation areas smell heavenly!!!
The hotel room was just ok for the price but I would stay there again just to have access to the water!!!

I love that these a hot spring this close to Denver-- under an hour. The underground caves are so good. Very hot. I recommend going before bedtime and falling in bed as soon as you arrive home. The mountainside hot rubs are very nice for couples and groups of friends. I don't like the small indoor private tub rooms. I find them claustrophobic as well as cheesy. Try club mud once. I have, but I've never really wanted to mud there again.
The atrium pool is lovely. Not too hot, a nice place for everyone to meet up after their other chosen activities. They've really been taking care of the tropical plants and trees there the past few years. It's like a pool in the midst of a tropical jungle. I've been going for decades and will continue.

Stayed at the “Resort”. It was a cool old building, but the bed was hard as a rock, the heat in the rooms was very finicky, and there was a lot of hallways noise.
Reservations only get you access to the main pool and the caves. The main pool was maybe a little warmer than a standard pool and rather disappointing. Read the fine print carefully and you’ll see the caves are segregated by gender, so if you are going with someone of the opposite gender they aren’t very fun since you have to go to separate pools.
They have private pools & hot tubs you can use together, but they will charge you per person to rent one.
Didn’t try the onsite restaurant, so can’t speak to that.
Staff was friendly whenever we interacted with them.
Very convenient to walk to downtown Idaho Springs, which was fun.
Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I felt like they were nickel and dimming us.

We went on a very snowy day and were told by the rude woman working the desk that the power was out so the water wouldn’t be as hot as usual. I asked what electricity had to do with a geothermal hot springs and got no response. We were allowed to go and check the pool out before we bought a pass which was nice. The water was warm enough plus we had driven all the way from Denver on very snowy roads so we decided to buy a pool pass for $20/person. I asked for a discount and when the rude lady asked the manager sitting 5ft away he said no which she then relayed to us. At first it wasn’t too crowded but as time moved on more and more people arrived and it got to the point where you really couldn’t avoid being right next to other people which is not ideal. We were there about 3hrs and during that time the water got cooler and cooler. Finally all of the electricity went out and we were in a dark pool with all of our new pool buddies. Some of us decided to wait it out but soon thereafter the staff came in lighting the way with their phones(apparently no one had a real flashlight), and told us all that we had to leave. We were given a rain check but the overall experience was not good. Maybe it’ll be better if I decide to go back and use the rain check. If so, I’ll adjust my rating and update my review.

I drove up from Denver with my 11 year old. The only option for getting in the water for children is the pool. It is a very nice area lots of tropical vegetation and beautiful flowers. For $30 per + $5 for a towel, I’d recommend going to the water park in Steamboat instead.

Went here for the first time over the weekend. Decided to make a reservation for a private tub to just chill without people. The front desk people were very very nice. We were early and waited in a really cute sunroom. But then we went to the private bath… in a creepy basement. This could be a set for a horror film with absolutely no changes…. It’s already hot as hell in the little room with zero ventilation except a large pipe shoved into a ragged hole in the ceiling. The water temp was nice and hot but because the room temp is 10 million degrees we could only stand to stay in the water for 10 minutes. Showered to cool off and left. I thought hot springs might have some relaxing ambiance. No. Only murder ambiance.

The new timed structure for the caves has ruined the whole experience. As a local, I used to look forward to coming to Indian Hot Springs a couple times a week throughout the year. I loved the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere of the caves. In a world that seems to always be in a hurry, I could count on the caves to be a place free from electronics and take things on my time. The new time structure absolutely ruins what made the caves special. Now you are limited to a strict 60 minute time slot with everyone else. This made for a hectic experience when everyone rushes into the change room at once trying to make the most of their allotted time. Then you have to keep an eye on the clock before you are abruptly ushered out by housekeeping. They say that this new structure (and price increase) is to accommodate the “busy season,” but I disagree, I’ve been coming to the springs for years and never felt the caves were overcrowded.
So long as this structure exists, I will not be returning to Indian Hot Springs. It simply isn’t worth it.
FYI: there are many affordable alternatives to Indian Hot Springs such many gyms and spas have unlimited access to saunas and steam rooms for a fraction of the price. Additionally they sell economical sauna rooms and tents off the internet.
I want to go back to Indian but until this policy changes this review is here to stay as a warning to others.

We were stranded on 1-70 during the most recent snowpocalypse. We slept in our car outside the Circle K in Idaho Springs the first night. The next morning we started calling hotels for the following night since the highway was still shut down. We kept getting no vacancy until we finally found a room at Indian Springs. They were WONDERFUL! They let us check in at 9AM, which after “sleeping” in our car all night in a snow storm with our four children was an absolute God send. The pool was an awesome perk. Like a giant hot tub. Even more impressive to me were the incredible plants. It was like a tropical paradise oasis in the middle of a snow storm. Gave our kids something to be excited about in such a terrible situation.
The rooms are a little dated, our queen beds I believe were placed on full mattresses so there was a little overhang which was a little bothersome, but overall Indian Springs was a life saver and so kind and accommodating and helpful. The pool is absolutely worth it. Also right down the road from the original Beau Jo’s, which is fun.

If I could rate 0 stars I 100% would.
To start off our room was not ideal, very run down a dirty, and holes in the walls etc.
we paid for a private bath and that was absolutely disgusting, it was definitely questionable. The shower to rinse off was even worse. We didn’t even rinse off cause it was THAT bad.
Not to mention the electricity was shut off due to high winds so our room was freezing and with no hot water also with no compensation which was very disappointing considering the experience and how expensive everything was for a very low quality an dirty place. I would never recommend coming here

I had always like these hot springs but today I was very disappointed. We went to go do caves and pool. Caves were closed for men. Ok we understood. We did private baths. It states to go with the front desk if there was a problem. I did. The temperature was very cold, these are supposed to be hot hot. To be honest the pool was warmer than the bath! They said they had an outage so they weren't as warm. They offered another times but to be honest I had a schedule. That's the point of picking a set hour for your bath. They said they would send a maintenance person. They never showed up. I'm very upset with this. I wasted my time and money. I spent 30 min waiting for the person to show up. I told the front desk about it. They said oh I'm sorry, they didn't knock? No they didn't. Those baths you can even hear the person next to you speaking so no I didn't miss it. They said im sorry I'll tell the manager. They did not offer partial refund or a certificate for another visit.I settled for the temp I had sadly. Very disappointed about the visit. I asked for child care and time off from work for this.
Ski resort with many trails & terrains, plus shops & eateries as well as warm-weather activities.
Great mountain and amazing staff. They were the nicest people I've ever seen on a mountain. The rental folks were great, the people running the lifts were great. Everyone was great! Lucky us, it snowed 21" the day before we arrived and had the best conditions! Overall, very nice experience. My only issue was that the village was pretty dead as they couldn't staff the restaurants due to staff shortages. But there is nothing to be done with that.

What a lovely hidden gem off 70. Came out to CO for a family getaway to ski this season and decided to check out some different resorts than what we typically ski. Winter Park turned out to be not only our favorite of the week, but we found the resort to be nice, the staff to be friendly and the mountain to have a lot of great terrain. Our favorite runs were Mary Jane, Edelweiss, Forget-Me-Not on the Mary Jane portion of the mountain. This is an area of only blues and blacks. Not made for beginner skiers. The other portion of the mountain is wonderful also. We loved March Hare & White Rabbit. Of course use Village Way to get back to the main base are, but pay attention to signs. If you take Turnpike to get back to the gondola, you’ll be on some flat ground that will be more difficult - the parking garage is a great option for close parking. The free lot is great as well though. Take the gondola from the lot over to the base. Enjoy your time there! It’s fun!

My hometown mountain. They allow ski bikes and everything else. Love the varying terrain from park side to Jane side. Spent 10 years here. It's home.
Any holiday, the lift lines are insane but once you get mid mountain, it isn't so bad.

I didn’t stay at the hotel but Winter Park is a great ski area. I assumed that because of its proximity to Denver that it wouldn’t be that impressive. I was so wrong. The winding road takes you to a location that is beautifully nestled in the mountains and every view is stunning. The lift workers were efficient at getting people up the mountain. There are plenty of options for food. I ate in the food court area and prices were reasonable. There is a Starbucks at the base. There is both covered and uncovered on site parking. I will definitely return to Winter Park!

We had the best time. The room at Zephyr was spacious and a great location for our family of five. We took ski lessons with Amanda and our son took snowboarding lessons with Luke which perfectly prepared us for going out on our own the rest of the weekend. We also got to watch the ski competition being held which was so so amazing. We dined at several restaurants on the property with our favorite being the top of the mountain via gondola. Music and incredible views made for a great night! Everyone on staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be back!

This must be a great place to work. It shows in employee attitudes. They are happy, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Skier safety is emphasized in various locations across the mountain and in the facilities. The grooming seems superior to other resorts as well. There is lots of varied terrain that provides challenging fun no matter skill level. It is simply a fun place to ski.
Melanie Woolever — Google review
Amazing resort, plenty of variety including loads of long Blue, Green and Black runs. Fast lifts and if you're willing to choose runs that don't run from the peak you can find empty runs even on the busiest days.
In peak season on weekends - GET THERE EARLY. I arrived at 09:30 am (after sitting in traffic from Denver) and all parking in ALL lots including paid garage parking was full.
In town at Cooper Creek there is free parking with a shuttle to the mountain but the queue was already at over 50+ people waiting.
I'd also recommend bringing your own snacks and water as the lodge food options were absolutely rammed.
Queues for the lifts move fast and the busiest lifts are well managed by the staff on hand.

*UPDATE* Winter Park’s travel insurance company, Red Sky, reached back out to me to let me know they’d made a mistake on my claim— after I left a bad review, reported to the BBB for false practices, and emailed them. They let me know that I would receive a refund- it was a simple date entry error on their part. I’m updating the stars on Winter Park to reflect my total experience. I would highly recommend reading the fine print on your travel insurance if purchasing. While my story ended on a positive note, many have not. Read Red Sky’s reviews on Google as well as the BBB before you choose to vacation at Winter Park, as the travel insurance you purchase also applies to any condos/properties owned by them. Skiing is expensive, especially if you live out of town. Do your homework.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased one lift ticket for the 2022-23 season, sustained a back injury and was unable to ski the day I purchased the ticket for. I purchased travel insurance from WP through Red Sky, and ended up making a claim. Although I spoke with an agent several times who assured me I would receive a refund, and had my physician fill out a claim form, Red Sky denied my claim. I hold Winter Park responsible for this poor service from Red Sky. I am a resident of Colorado, and will never ski at this overpriced, irresponsibly managed resort again.

Having visited this resort most of my life, I can confidently say it is one of Colorado's finest. Catering to an array of skill levels, it makes it an ideal place for beginners like myself when I first learned to ski. The winter park side is a little easier and is for all skill levels, whereas the Mary Jane terrain is more suited for intermediate/advanced skiers. What sets this resort apart from others includes the quality of terrain and snow, the location, outstanding customer service, and simplicity. The free parking lot is convenient as you can ride the gondola to the base. On the Mary Jane side, there a parking lot right at the base, allowing you to basically step out of your car and be on the slopes in minutes. Its, worth noting that with the increasing popularity of skiing, the resort gets quite busy and pricy at peak times. I recommend planning your visit for an off-peak weekday to get the full experience. If you ever find the opportunity to visit, take full advantage, embrace the thrill, and take in the breathtaking scenery around you.

Lost my phone on the ski lift. My fault for sure, but I could see where it had fallen, I could see it from the lift. The lift people wouldn't let me duck under the ropes to grab it, nor did anyone lift a finger to help me get it.
I could have had it in 20 seconds. Just 20 seconds to stop the lift and grab it.
They told me not to worry about it, they'll get it at the end of the day.
We came back at the end of the day. No one had bothered to grab it, and over night it was buried in snow. So when we called the next day they said "tough luck"
The only ones who seemed to care at all were the ski patrol, so big thanks to those folks for having a second look for us.
I could understand if I didn't know where it fell. I could understand if it wasn't directly in my line of sight. Completely accessible, within reach.
I will not be back here.
And folks, I recommend jacket pockets with zippers on them.
Also, if you drop your phone at the top or the bottom of the lift, just climb under the ropes and grab it. You'll get kicked off the mountain, but at least you'll have your phone back.

Winter Park resort is one of the closest ski resorts to Denver - despite its proximity, it doesn't feel touristy.
They have plenty of free parking spaces, so long as you get here pretty early. Lifts and grounds are well maintained, and their app will keep you up to date on the latest trail and lift statuses.
They also have plenty of places to eat, as well as cafeteria-like areas where you can microwave your own food from home.
They also have plenty of holiday events, including fireworks and a Christmas eve ski down. A very family friendly, chill place!

My family decided to go to Winter Park for our annual ski trip and it was such an amazing time. The facilities were impressive. I’ve never been to a resort this big! The rental equipment was top notch and everyone who worked there, from the pro shop to the lifts were so nice. We skied for 3 days and the runs were great everyday, no matter what the weather. The views from the lifts and the top of the runs were breathtaking.
If you are there Thursday-Sunday after 4 pm there are free gondola rides to the top of the mountain. Perfect for people in your party that don’t ski but want to see the spectacular views! Top notch resort.

My family really enjoyed the Nature Snowshoe Tour with our guide, Morgan. The route was really beautiful and it was such a relaxing way to experience the slopes. My parents came from sea level and had never snowshoed, and there were other families with younger children. Morgan was very knowledgeable and accommodating for the pace everyone needed. She included regular breaks to stop and take in the surroundings and she shared interesting information about the area. She helped up create wonderful holiday memories!
My son and I had a great SnoGo Tour with Katie and James. They were also very knowledgeable and adjusted to the varied needs of our group. The individualized instruction from our guides was really great. We don't ski or snowboard but we will definitely Snow Bike again!
We had a great time tubing here as well. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and there was so much to do, even for those of us who weren't skiing/snow boarding.

Top notch! The shuttle ride was easy and the driver was so friendly and helpful. The lines were short and the trails were great! My friend got ran over by a reckless boarder, and the ski patrol took his pass away. The staff were absolutely amazing and seemed to go out of there way to make my experience the best.

We were first time skiers and opted to take private lessons. Very expensive…but the personal instruction was very valuable…especially when being taught by a man that has been on that hill for 50 years! John McKenzie is the epitome of a professional. He is kind, helpful, accommodating, and one heck of a teacher. In a short time, we were already skiing successfully. I recommend lessons and highly recommend John! I mean this sincerely….he could not have done anything better to make our experience enjoyable and fruitful. Great skier and even better human being.
Winter park was crowded for Spring Break but there were not long lines for lifts, low lines for food, rental equipment line was super quick. It is well run!
We did not stay on property but John encouraged us to come back and stay on-site on our next visit.
All-in-all. We loved Winter Park and will return.

My favorite skiing place in the world. Very accessible from Denver with amazing snow all winter. You wont be bored as WP offers a wide variety of runs from double blacks to greens but by far the best thing is the trees. Mountain wide you’ll find fun and unique trees for all levels. The food really good but only at lunch rock everywhere else is highly underwhelming. As for housing and the village its small but there is a good sushi place and lots of good places to stay slightly outside of the village.

Hometown Ski Resort with small town feel. close to Denver and accessible with the ski tram from the airport. My favorite ski area in the world because it always has the best powdery snow every season and the food is always great. Easy to expert ski trails for every skill level and great Ski Coaches for the little one to learn to ski while you enjoy a few runs Solo.

This is our second time skiing at Winter Park Resort and it has been great! I wanted to write this review for my 1:1 private lesson with Adam S. He was incredible- so patient and understanding with teaching me how to handle my anxiety with skiing and control my speed/turns. Winter Park is truly lucky to have a great employee as a skiing instructor! I hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Fantastic resort! Amazing runs. Fast lines. Amazing staff! We had great snow while we were there with a wide variety of run types and difficulties. A lot of runs would be more difficult at other ski resorts: greens are blues, and blues are advanced-intermediate.

Have been to Winter Park 4 years in a row now. Great place to ski! Very reasonable driving distance to Denver's airport, which is one of the big reasons we keep going back. The Winter Park ski lift lines are not near as bad as Breckenridge, but the lift lines for the Mary Jane Park can get pretty long on the weekends and spring break. We have stayed at multiple lodging options on site. Zephyr Mountain Lodge is the nicest, but also the most expensive. Iron Horse is the best ski in/ski out option, but you really have to plan out your runs (especially near the end of the day) in order to make it back to your lodge.
Philip Sluka — Google review
Parking here is a real challenge. The base layout is poor. Many options force you to walk through the village which is long and skinny. Other options are far from the lifts and you are at the mercy of unreliable shuttles. I also found both the interactive grooming map on the web and the grooming layer in the app to be unreliable. Not great. The mountain itself is nice and the lifts well thought out.

Amazing scenery and views and actually most of the staff is really great and helpful. Perhaps because it’s the busiest week of the year, but our very expensive zephyr lodge room left a lot to be desired. First, it stunk to high heavens. Someone cooked something that should be illegal. Second, we had zero soup or shower gel in the room. We rented from resort, not from renter. And when we tried to get basic amenities, the guy started asking us a ton of questions. They wouldn’t let us drop off luggage and made us change in garage. We arrived 4 hours before check in. Check out of course is at 10am… for this price, we should have been given red carpet. Or at least some soap, you know? never staying in this lodge again.
Dmitriy K — Google review
The lodging was great and they were pretty accommodating to my group. I have skied at a decent amount of resorts and if you love alpine terrain, this place has lots to choose from. The one thing I didn't care for was that they had a lot of cat walk areas and it wasn't easy getting to the other side of the mountain. I had a good time, nothing went wrong. They did their part by providing what they said they would.

We spent two days skiing and took the complimentary tour, both guides Cindy Vito and Kevin G (forgot his last name) were excellent showing us around and covering all major regions. The trails are well groomed we had a wonderful time. We will definitely make it a stop at least once a year!
Mt Evans is a high-altitude peak located in the Rocky Mountains, accessible in the summer through a scenic paved road. At 14,130 feet above sea level, it is the highest paved road in North America offering breathtaking views above the timber-line. Visitors should come prepared with warm clothing as it can be significantly colder at the summit and be on the lookout for mountain goats and other wildlife.
Beautiful but absolutely freezing at the top!! The wind was super strong, I could barely stand straight. And we went in August! I recommend taking a nice big jacket to wear at the top!

Mount Evans holds a near and dear place to my heart as it was my first 14er that I ever hiked, and with my late uncle at that. The hike itself is not bad for a 14,000 foot peak. It is strenuous but gradual and the views from the top ridge are absolutely breathtaking! If you don't want to hike it, you can drive to the top and just hike a little bit of ways to the summit. Watch for afternoon lightning as it can move up quick here! There's tons of marmots and mountain goats that are very comfortable around people so just keep your distance but enjoy the beauty of nature from one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado!

Highly, highly recommend a trip up to Mount Evans! It's not too far of a drive from Denver and well worth it. Make sure you buy a timed entry pass. Once you get past the ticketing booth, the drive is incredible. You get sweeping 360 degree views of the mountains, it'll take your breath away. The summit is incredible. Definitely take a picture with the sign, use the restrooms, and hike to the very tip top of the mountain where you can stand on boulders overlooking everything. It's a bit busy, but nothing terrible. I also recommend driving 10 minutes down from the summit to hike around Summit Lake and/or Chicago Lakes (both areas are beautiful)! Did I mention the mountain goats? Truly one of the best parts of the experience was seeing wild mountain goats with their babies or skipping down the side of the road.

Beautiful views. The road is not as scary as it looks especially during the weekday when it is less crowded. The reservation system is a great implementation as it decreases traffic and overcrowding making the entire trip safer and more enjoyable. There are tons of other roads in Colorado that are way more dangerous such as the Million Dollar Highway. If you are doing any hiking, watch the clouds as it can turn from being sunny into a deadly lightning party.

Mt. Evans is one of my favorite places on the planet ❤️. The views are stunning and the wild life is plenty. The shop at the base is full of souvenirs and snacks. Once you get in the scenic highway, there are a few bathrooms up the mountain. If you're afraid of driving on steep mountain roads with no guard rails, this might not be the drive for you. Plan to stop at all of the pull offs and take time to look around. There are a variety of wild flowers and animals but it takes time to find everything. The mountain goats are so beautiful. Big horn sheep are usually around as well as marmots, elk and mule deer. Bring plenty of water and enjoy the day.

Spent a great week in Denver with my wife. The highlight of our trip was driving up to Mount Evans. Nature is beautiful & this was a great display of it. Where we started, it was about 85F, when we reached the submit, the temperature was around 50F & felt like 40F with the wind chill. It even started to hail when we reached the top. Reviews mention bad roads towards the top, but the roads are not that bad. As mentioned, maintain a low speed to ensure that you can make the turns safely. This was an amazing experience & one that I highly recommend to anyone that visits Denver.

The mountain goats come right up to you, but be careful because they are known to charge at people from time to time if you try to touch them. The view from the top is spectacular, it’s as if you’re on top of the world. No matter how hot it is that day, always bring a jacket! The weather can change quickly and the wind can be intense. Also be sure to make reservations and check for road closures before going. Hope you enjoy it 🤗

This was an amazing experience & one that I highly recommend to anyone that visits Denver.

the last (but unexpected) stop of our trip to CO! There was no plan to visit Mt. Evans scenic byway, but so glad we did! The road is ok (if you mind no guardrails!), i thoroughly enjoyed it. The views from top are simply great. If the weather is fine, one can see Denver as well from here. Like all high mountains, the weather here has its own mind and be prepared for it.

Low-key ski resort with beginner-friendly runs, slopeside lodging & mountain biking in summer.
We skied in a Sunday, and the whole experience was relaxing and laid back. Easy parking, tons of seating at the base area, at most 5 groups in line for the lift ahead of us (literally 2-3 min to get on the lift typically). The snow was decent. Didn’t spend a ton of time on the blue/black diamond side. The restaurant was yummy, drinks were good. We hung out around 3:30 at the outside fire pit and had a drink watching out kid ride the beginner lift on his own. Felt very safe and chill. Ski patrol told us the crowds were typical for a Sunday (so that was reassuring it wasn’t an off day). This is the mountain for you if you have beginners in your group and and looking for a relaxing day. Not the best hill for expert skiers though. We will definitely be back! I wish their were more decent rentals to enjoy that are ski in and ski out.

We saved for years, planned for months, and I have been so excited to bring my kids to the rocky mountains to experience real powder snow skiing. Yesterday was sunny and beautiful and everyone got to experience a bit of deep powder snow.
We love love love our rental home with a ski lift just outside our dining room window, it is absolutely why we chose to stay here. So nice to just drop in at the house for a quick snack and head back out in the snow! Perfect for all our kids!!!
This place is fantastic for families and easy to keep track of everyone, nice little chair for beginners, and our three year old even made a run down the buckhorn train successfully and loved it. The only part that I don't like is how steep the slope is leading to the chair lifts, that was stressful with my beginners and my little guy.
This place feels private, and very much caters to the residents and guests staying, vacationing, or living on the ranch. We think it would be so fun to live here and just go out and ski a few runs after school or work all winter long. There is a sense of community here.
the staff have been friendly. The rental skis and snowboard equipment were in such new condition, so nice and didn't have that icky rental feel (or smell!)
We spent a fortune to come for the week so I don't know when or if we will be back.... But many memories were made here and we love this place!!

We love Granby Ranch! An easy drive up from Denver. The kids absolutely loved the ski school and the instructors. I hate writing this review because then more people will find out about our hidden gem! We do truly love it. The entire staff is so nice and the mountain is so family friendly! Having fewer people than the big mountains makes it easier to ski with littles without as many worries. To top things off, the valley is absolutely gorgeous and you have killer views from either chair and coming down most of the mountain as well.
I wish there was a hotel at the bottom of the mountain, but love that you can park close to the base and not worry about shuttles or anything like that.
This is not an expert terrain mountain by any means, but perfect for families!

Beautiful scenery while skiing somewhere up the hill. Best ski instructor Zeke. Roads are safe to travel. Early warnings if snow chains are required. Nice fireplace to get heated up. Restaurant food is tasty with warm hot chocolate- best thing to end a great day of skiing 🎿❄️🎄

A friendly ski resort that is not super busy and kids-friendly! Two restaurants on-site and one coffee shop near the slope.
Our favorite part is the night ski for a special occasion from 3-7 pm. A happy hour (3-5 pm) for half price of wine and a $5 well drink is a great way to relax in between the ski since it is near the slope!
There is not huge parking around them so plan well in advance.

Fantastic skiing for the family! Short lines = lots of runs. Great place to learn and grow. We have been coming for 4 years and my kids are now skiing blue/blacks. Great place to build skills and confidence. Family friendly. Small and intimate. Fun!

We had a phenomenal experience as a family at Granby Ranch. We booked ski lessons for a family of 4 with all day lift tickets, and words can't express how great the staff is. Starting with Hunter in the equipment shop and literal every staff member we ran into were the kindest and most informative crew I have ever been around. If you are considering taking your family to ski, you have to choose Granby Ranch. We will be back!

Granby is a great place for a family ski vacation. All runs end at the same area so you can't lose your kids on the mountain like larger resorts. Great beginner area. Never long lift lines, even on a holiday weekend so you get to ski a lot. This is our 7th year at Granby ski and it is still great! See you next year!

Great place for families and first time skiers. Shout-out to our awesome instructor, David, and to Kendra who took care of us twice at Bluebird. The staff at Granby is awesome and everyone is so great with kids. It was our kids’ first time skiing and we couldn’t have picked a better place. It’s a smaller mountain than others, but for us it was perfect. We lucked out with a condo in Base One and had the lifts and lodge right out our back door. All of the runs meet back at the same place and we had no concerns about knowing our girls would know where to go. We will definitely be back!
Lindsey Rattan — Google review
Amazing place to feel relaxed, ski at your own pace, learn if you’ve never skied before, or just get in some runs and feel crisp mountain air fresh against your face. The night skiing is fantastic. The views of the surrounding peaks are just incredible. The trails are kept up nicely. The entire Ski Granby ranch staff, from ski shop, diner, apres ski lounge, and ski patrol are just as friendly as can be. Really feels like a family place. Also- don’t try skiing trees. Must be trained and well versed in skiing. There’s my disclaimer. Must be trained and knowledgeable at skiing to attempt skiing and Granby has really good ski school for those that need it!
What a great place!

We had an awesome experience at Granby! My husband is a skier, but myself and our three kids were not. The instructors were so kind. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and helpful. It is a smaller resort which is one of the main things we loved about it. We will be back!

We go skiing at Granby Ranch every year! We love all the ski in/out properties that are available and the friendly staff at the ski resort. We love how all the lifts go back to the same area so you can easily find others in your group. Absolutely perfect for families where your kids are old enough and you want you kids to be able go off and ski on their own. Love how it isn’t crowded! A hidden gem!
Kelly Henry — Google review
Such a special place to ski. Runs are not crowded, no speed skiers or people out of control. Yes, the slopes are small compared to Winter Park or Vail, but almost zero stress, compared to the other big name resorts.

Ski trip with two adult beginners, we had a great time. It was a busy President's Day weekend, but the crowds were totally manageable and the staff handled it well. Great for beginners and families.
Andrew Cotton — Google review
I think we’ll return, there are some definite upsides to this ski resort— particularly parking, ease of access, and overall # of people on the mountain. It is cheaper than, say, Winter Park, but not proportionately cheaper relative to the # of runs, length of runs, amenities, etc. So it’s a trade off you have to consider — money savings vs overall experience. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Wallace Gustafson — Google review
We were so pleased with our ski experience at Granby Ranch. It was cheaper and less crowded than Winter Park. Parking was a breeze, and the facilities were very clean, with helpful and friendly staff. The slopes were well maintained, and there were lots of good options for our family so we could ski all day and never get bored. I definitely recommend Granby Ranch for families.

Such a great ski experience for our minimally experienced family. Our older athletic and daring teens had just enough challenge at Granby Ranch. No lift lines, and very friendly staff was an amazing bonus! Highly recommend this place if you are not frequent skiers. It was perfect for our family.

This is just a great ski resort! Wonderful location! Wonderful staff, great teachers at the ski school! I think I like it because it’s not too big and it’s not too small and it’s absolutely beautiful here! We look forward to coming back again next year!

We love Granby Ranch. Granby is our favorite place to ski! My kids learned how to ski here at their ski school 3 years ago and we come back every year because it’s perfect for our family. This year I tried cross country skiing for the first time and my sister, who has never skied at all before, joined me. The golf course trails were a little melted due to the warm weather but the Nordic trials the quick lift takes you to were amazing! I don’t think many people come here to cross country ski as we didn’t see more than a couple on the trail, but man was it great. It was the best ski day I’ve ever had and I highly recommend it. As it was our first time XC skiing, we timed our route wrong and were still working our way back when the lift to get us down was closing. We called Ski Patrol and Mitch (the dispatcher) was so kind and told us if we weren’t at the lift before close that it was no problem and ski patrol would get us - we almost made it, but not quite! Alex from Ski Patrol was so great - he came and got us both and took us down the mountain on a snow mobile! It was AWESOME and a really memorable way to end our day. Thank you to Alex and Mitch for getting us back to base! Thank you to Granby for another awesome trip!!

My daughter had a fantastic first-time skiing experience at Granby Ranch. The ski school was excellent, allowing her to confidently advance to blue runs. The ski instructor for my daughter was outstanding, providing top-notch instruction. As for the cafeteria, it seemed promising, though we didn’t have the chance to try the food.
Adam Dickerson — Google review
This was our first trip to Granby Ranch. First thing about this place is the food. The food selection was ok and the price was fair. I wish there was another dining area preferably at the top of the mountain.
Second, lift tickets+rental: I’ve been to different ski resorts with varying sizes and I feel like the lift tickets and rentals here were pricey for what they offered. For this reason, I don’t think I’ll be returning because I’d rather spend the same amount of money enjoying more varying courses and trails.
Third, Lifts: There was only one main lift with blues and greens- and this lift was very, very busy (especially during the weekend). There’s one advanced lift called “Conquest” that is only for the advanced skiers. I feel like with the price of the lift ticket, they should provide more lift options. The employees at each lift weren’t the nicest and they needed to be more attentive to the loading zone because the condition was poor (except for the bunny hill).
Lastly, the ski school and the patrol:
These people are probably the reason I would come back again. My son was in the ski school in a large group but the instructor was very patient with kids and great! And my daughter got hurt and the patrol team took care of her really well, especially Tharon and Sofia. I would give them 10/10. Overall, we enjoyed our family trip here but the price of the lift tickets and rental is the huge decision maker for us to visit next time.

We only went for the ski school for my 9 years son. The slopes weren't too intimidating for him then other resorts. The staff was super helpful. He wanted to ski then changed at last minute to snowboard they were quick to accommodate the change and were super nice about it all.
Longtime ski resort offering high-elevation terrain & a long season, plus lessons, rentals & dining.
First time here and we loved it! The blue runs at the top were all great along with the Montezuma bowl area. Make sure you get there early so you can park in the early bird parking lot. I had the chili mac bowl for lunch which was a unique item and a good price. The ski and boot rentals were the best ive ever had at any ski resort. The boots felt amazing!! We will definitely come back here. Plus the views are spectacular!

I absolutely loved A Basin. Parking was easy (I arrived early) The folks in the rental shop were fast and efficient. The skiing was truly amazing as were the views. Great mix of terrain for everyone. Lift lines could be run better. It wasn’t too busy but it was essentially a free for all.

Phenomenal ski resort with some of the most breathtaking scenery you can get. First time visiting and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Rental staff, lift operators, store staff and restaurant staff were all fantastic. Food prices are typically high at these places but this food was well worth it. Also the view while eating is unmatched. I’ll say the terrain is on the challenging side but manageable with plenty of options. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful views, wonderful people working from the cafe to the rental area (the rental guys gave my four year old son a nickname and he loved it). Prices were fair and parking is free and just a short walk. On the Monday we went I never waited to get on a lift. Can't wait to come back!

The spot to go shred if you know what you're doing on skis or a snowboard. Steep and interesting terrain with magnificent views. Not a place you'll see people come out for a family vacation unless it's a family of shredders. It's also not as busy as some of the other resorts in Colorado especially the ones closest to Denver. Beginner terrain barely exists which is a blessing for experienced skiers.

This mountain typically is windy and the high altitude makes it hard to get acclimated. This day was a bluebird day with light winds and beautiful snow. Couldn’t ask for a better day. No crowds and it was a work function so everything was paid for. The fact that the ticket was paid for and everything else makes life a lot easier.

This was a great place to do some later spring skiing. We got there at 8 AM and we were able to park on the 3rd row on a Saturday morning. Great atmosphere, people were tailgating and an all around positive vibe. Lift lines were short and the 2 lifts on the backside had some great runs.

A great day in May to get another day and a few more runs in for the season! Snow was great and the runs are a little challenging but nice and long. The whole mountain wasn't open due to it being end of the season, but it was easy to get to and not very crowded at all! Lifts are 3 to 4 people per chair which helps things move quickly. Today was also very affordable which helps. Highly recommend this ski area for intermediate and above skiiers/snowboarders.

It's an amazing resort if you can get there. The day I went, it was super sketchy driving down hwy 6. There was a strong gust of wind, and the roads were icing up. Plus, you have to drive up a mountain and then down it again. Hard experiences like this build character and what's on the other side of the mountain is worth it. The trails are perfect for the person who's just starting to play with blues to those who are crazy enough to hike up to a double black diamond. The trails are also well maintained, and running them is super smooth.
The staff were also super helpful in helping me figure out which trails to try out first.
10/10 Enjoyed my experience here and will try to come back someday.

I visited Arapahoe Basin when I lived in Colorado Springs and was blown away by the awesome freestyle trails, lodge, and incredible parking lot tailgate experience. As someone who loves to shred the slopes, A-Basin did not disappoint. The variety of freestyle terrain was fantastic, and the park crew kept everything in great shape.
But it's not just the snow boarding that makes A-Basin a must-visit destination. The lodge is top-notch, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy their delicious signature Bloody Marys. Speaking of drinks, the tailgating in the parking lot is an experience like no other in Colorado. It's the perfect spot to hang out with friends, grill some food, and enjoy the mountain scenery.
Overall, I highly recommend A-Basin for anyone looking for a great freestyle experience. The trails are amazing, the lodge is fantastic, and the tailgating is something you won't forget anytime soon.

I came to Denver to attend the academic conference and really wanted to ski although I know it is still too early in the season. This is one of the two skiing place that are open now. Only intermediate level route is open now. It is a little too advanced for me. But still the experience itself is good! And I lost my phone on the slope and the staff are super helpful of helping me find it!!

What a fabulous resort it is. We had a family visit today driving up to the ski lodge. Scary but beautiful drive up into the Rockies. We had a guided tour/trek after taking the ski lift. Tim our guide was great describing the flowers, fauna, trees and ski slopes. I’m sure it’s a beautiful in the winter ski season. We will definitely be back.

This is definitely more of a locals destination. It doesn't have all the trappings of a big resort. Despite (or because) of that, it is an amazing place to ski or snowboard. Lots of options for different levels of experience, including some crazy routes that require you to hike a ways to get there.
Like most ski resorts in the mountains, the lifts close around 3-4 pm, and sadly, they didn't start running until 9 am. It's a good idea to try to get there early and be ready right away. But even though that doesn't seem like a lot of time, you still feel like you're getting the full experience.
I had a blast in the Montezuma bowl. The routes through the trees were so much fun. Be sure to watch out for protruding rocks and roots. They have marked most of them on the main trails, but not so in the back country, and there's a few spots that can trip you up.
The price of food was rather expensive, but their pizza slices were big and delicious. And obviously the views are incredible. Great place to hit the slopes. You have to check out the Legend that is A-Basin.

I loved this ski resort! The staff was kind and helpful. The trails were clearly marked and it was easy to tell where to go. The equipment was satisfactory and the ski lifts seemed safe and in good working order. I am not an avid skier at all so I appreciated the beginner area. It was easy to navigate and flat enough to keep me from constantly wiping out. It was a really great slope to learn on and I had improved within a matter of hours because of the ease that the slope created. The guy working the lift was especially kind and encouraging and I really needed and appreciated that. We tried a couple of other ski locations in that general area of Colorado but Arapahoe was by far our favorite and we will absolutely be returning there in the future as well as recommending Arapahoe to everyone. The amenities were great. 6th Alley was an incredible restaurant. The buildings and bathrooms were clean. Locker rental was affordable and the lockers were roomy. Great experience!

We had a blast at A-basin. Good variety of runs with some greens, lots of blues of varying challenge, and blacks, plus hike-up faces. We stuck to blues mostly but found there was good variety with groomed, ungroomed, glades, and some bumps. Had lunch mid mountain, and the food was excellent.

What an AMAZING place to not only ski, but just visit and see the range. From the top, you have a 360° view of BEAUTIFUL snow capped mountains 🏔️ as far as you can see. It's worth the price of a lift ticket just to hang out and enjoy on a sunny day. The midpoint lodge has a great cafe and bar for a midday hang and recoup for the runs. A-Basin has become my all-time favorite place to snowboard in the front range! But don't tell everyone - shhhh!😉

Having never been skiing and doing my first lessons here, I had a wonderful time! We did a private group lesson with our group and it was DEFINITELY worth it. Having only people we knew in a lesson was great and the lesson came with the lift pass so it wasn’t even that much more expensive. Allison was our teacher and she was AMAZING. We all agreed that we would come back and do lessons with her. She went above and beyond, was super great with the people in our group that needed extra support while also balancing those who caught on faster. She made the way she described things very personalized to the learning style of each person and really made us feel prepared to continue learning on our own the rest of the day. Highly recommend requesting Allison if you can for lessons!
We also got a “beach” spot to tailgate with our group - absolutely wonderful experience! I love that they offer this! We had a spot to grill right at the base of the bunny hill
Simple rooms, cabins & apartment with an on-site spa, plus free access to natural hot mineral pools.
Great sulphur springs. We'd been told to go early or go late, and we should have heeded this tip as it was very crowded when we arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday. Tips: Bring sandals during the wintertime. The walking areas are covered with salt and hurt bare feet. Better than slipping! Also bring clothes to change into after showing. You really will want to shower because the sulphur smell is so strong. We didn't and we couldn't wear our clothes because they reeked of sulphur. There are two magnesium pools that are supposed to be good for sleep and aching bones. I must say, I had the best night of sleep in months after soaking in the magnesium pools. The lockers were completely taken when we arrived so we carried our bag around with us. It worked. Great springs that I'll go back to, but at a quieter time.

I have been here a few times, with kids and without. I really enjoy the vibe here. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The pools are all labeled with the varying degrees of temperature. There are about 19 to use, and kids are welcome in a lot of them. Every time I've been here it has been a good time. They have lockers to keep your stuff in while you are exploring the pools as well as showers and changing stalls. They also offer towels, swimsuits, and robes for rent if needed.

Really great place. My only complaint was the shower in the motel room, it alternated between cold and scalding hot without notice.
Otherwise a really enjoyable experience. You have to know that you’re not going to a 5 star luxury resort upfront. But, the quaintness and rustic qualities are what make it perfect for a relaxing time.

For sure a fun experience. I think there were 16 pools to visit ranging from not too hot to really, really hot. Some of them only hold 1 to 2 people. Some had waterfalls. Kids are allowed in 6 or so of them. Great benefits for your body and skin. The smell of Sulphur is very strong in some of them. Make sure to drink plenty of water! There are changing areas with bathrooms, showers and lockers. You'll need quarters for the lockers. .50 every time you need to close the locker. They have towels you can rent. They also have a selection of kid's life jackets/ floats for free to use. If you go in the summer, take your sandals with you! The ground gets very hot. There is also a large pool with a slide but it is ice cold.

My daughter and I visited for the day and we had a great time! First we rented a private room for the hour that had its own little pool/spring. It did get pretty hot, so it was nice to have a sitting area in the private room too cool off for a bit. We then paid a little extra to enjoy the other pools on the property after our hour was done. The smell from the pools was to be expected, however it wasn’t overwhelming and didn’t deter us from enjoying ourselves. We felt so relaxed and we would definitely return.

My partner and I are making a cross country trip from North Carolina to Washington. While in Colorado, we wanted to visit some of the natural hot springs, and soak our tired muscles. Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to give Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa a chance. And we’re so glad we did!
Nestled in a tiny town, this resort is sweet as can be— albeit a bit rustic. The rooms are m basic, but squeaky clean and well maintained. Stays come with use of the hot springs on the day of your arrival, during your stay, and on your departure date. They offer as many fresh towels as needed so you can take full advantage of the springs. And they even have a complimentary breakfast! All of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
The hot springs were lovely and so refreshing! Divided into 16 pools, this ensures you’ll have plenty of temperatures and views to choose from. We tested most, and were able to soak both alone and with others. The springs were definitely not overcrowded. We had plenty of privacy and time alone while enjoying them. We also were able to watch the local furry deer, chipmunks, and geese while soaking!
The resort is set next to a railroad, so you will hear and see trains several times per day. However, earplugs are provided in room if this is of concern to you. And for us, it added to the charm!
Things to know for your trip:
Cell service may not be available. We have t-mobile, and there was no service for several miles. However, they have excellent wifi in the lobby, and main building (which includes a cozy living room with fireplace, gift shop, and a dining room). You can also access it from some parts of the parking lot. But the lack of constant signal helped us to disconnect and better enjoy ourselves.
Local restaurants are few and far between. However, there is a microwave in the dining room off the lobby— open til 10:00pm. You can easily bring a meal or leftovers to heat there if you don’t want to go far for dinner.
The springs do smell of sulphur and other minerals (hence the name). It’s to be expected and you quickly grow used to it. The smell will cling somewhat to clothes and hair for a bit even after washing— but only very faintly. We recommend not getting your hair wet in the springs, and letting swimwear/wet clothes dry fully before traveling again.
Altogether we thoroughly enjoyed our stop here! Sweet, quaint, and nostalgic— few places offer the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasure of a good long soak in a hot spring amongst nature. 10/10 definitely recommend, and would love to return!

Fabulous, old-school, genuine Colorado mountain experience. The rooms are basic but comfy and plenty warm. It got down to -9 below when we were there.
The pools offer a heat level for everybody and I can see how this would be equally relaxing and refreshing in the summer.
The locker room was very nice with private changing stations, showers and lockers.
Do yourself a favor and experience something that's not slick and generic the way so many CO mountain towns have become over the last 15 years.

My wife and I enjoy coming here every so often during the weekdays, mostly at around 7-8pm. Closer to closing when there are fewer people around. The latest you can walk in is at 9:15 pm, I believe. Went last Sunday at the perfect time, around 4-5pm. Was able to enjoy all the pools. Decent prices and some discounts for being an EMT/Local. They have a locker room to change and shower off in. There are lockers, towels, and robes to rent. I suggest bringing your own if you can. Some construction is taking place on some of the pools, but not while we were there. But other than that, you'll run into some friendly people and be able to relax in a nice peaceful area. You'll leave every time with your hair and skin, feeling soft and smooth. As well as feeling mentally refreshed.

We arrived at the location at 2pm. After paying immediately due to lightning close by, we were not able to go into the pools, which is completely understandable. They do not offer refunds, so we decided to wait. Couldn't go in till after 7 when the storm passed again, completely understandable. What was terrible about the place was the customer service. We asked Tanya if it would be possible to swap out our towels because the storm continued passing by. Their establishment is 90% outdoors, and our towels were soaked. Obviously, there is no place to leave them it won't get wet or lost. She said we'd have to pay for the towel service again, which is fine. Then she said "actually we can't. The register is closed." I said well it's all outdoors it's impossible to keep them dry, can't you do something for us?" Her response was, "Maybe you shouldn't have left them outside"

I enjoyed visiting the hot springs very much. It was nice to have varying temperatures in the different pools. I was I only able to stay about 90 minutes but I was so relaxed by the time I left. I wound advise washing your swimwear in a double rinse cycle or washing it twice, as well as washing it separately from your other clothes. If not, all your clothes smell like sulphur. Wish I lived closer so I could visit more often! Be sure to bring plenty of water to drink

I enjoyed 3 days here with my family. We stayed in a room for 2 nights. Everything looked clean. It would be nice if they used large dispensers of soap, shampoo, etc. There is not much space in the bath or room and too much space was used for many tiny bottles. I was in a smaller room though. (Just my 2 cents)
There is not much available in the immediate area to eat, so a little thought for breakfast would be nice. Just some toast, yogurt and fruit maybe? We always travel with snacks and a cooler for drinks so that was helpful in this case.
I enjoyed the different pools. There is so much to explore and I enjoy my time there, so spending hours there for several days makes me happy. If it gets crowded in one area, I just go find somewhere else that suits my vibe. The staff were accommodating and helpful. I appreciate their great service and attitudes.
I had no trouble getting a fresh towel when needed. It drizzled rain the first day and snowed the entire next day, so being a guest has it's perks. It may be an older hotel, but our room was clean.
I recommend a massage too. Linda was top notch!!
We can't wait to go again and again. We are already looking forward to next spring and summer! Oh! And we saw a beautiful fox right by the parking area on our first night.

We were up in Granby for vacation and my wife had never experience hot springs of any kind so it was a must do for us. They have quite a bit of man man pools to dip into that range from 85 degrees to 112+ degrees. Quite a few felt about the same temp although the signs showed different. The larger ones were a little on the cooler side and those in our range 107-109 were very small (could only fit 2 people) so at times, we had to wait for others to leave so we could enjoy them. If I had to rate this compared to Steamboat Springs, Steamboat would be better but the location here was very nice. Much more peaceful.

What a wonderful place this is.The pools are amazing with temperatures from mild to wild. The mineral content was evident as the whole family felt so relaxed and revived. My back felt so wonderful and I wish I could come here every day. Do yourself a favor and check this place out, you will not regret it.

The front desk ladies were super super nice! It was the first time my husband and I visited the springs. Since we were unfamiliar, the lady at the desk was so kind in telling us how the place worked. The magnesium pool was wonderful and the one at top was nice and hot with a water fall in it. The entire experience was relaxing and fun. I highly recommend coming here. We're going to come here as often as possible.

I will preface this review by saying that my husband had been chatting to a guy who frequents the Hot Sulphur springs regularly. He did mention that it was a particularly busy day. We were very disappointed. The price was great , the staff very welcoming . It was crazy busy and the pools were almost all full. Most of them are tiny and allow 2-3 people in at a time. So we spent a lot of time walking around trying to find a pool for four of us. Some of the pools were closed and the buildings need alot of upkeep. Missing tiles, broken pipes , peeling paint just made it look dirty. Then the locker room. There are 2 toilets, 2 showers, maybe five changing rooms. Not enough lockers . People had to pile their bags and clothes on the floors. The clothes would get wet from everyone standing dripping water at the small locker area. I have been to other hot springs which have been much better.

Not quite what I expected, but an enjoyable experience. An older resort that needs some TLC, upkeep. Ladies bathroom looks brand new, so that was nice. There are about 20 hot spring fed pools, but only one that looks natural.
Other pools have broken tile, are stained (probably by natural calcium and magnesium in the water). They don't clean the pools. Kids were every where so it wasn't as relaxing as we'd hoped.
Lockers are available for bags and things but bring quarters!
Overall interesting experience, the hotsprings are awesome on sore muscles.

I took a chance on this place despite the mixed reviews and was pretty pleased so I wanted to address the negative aspects that others have cited.
Rust/maintenance: Hot spring water is full of minerals. Because of this, there will be rust and mineral deposits on various surfaces around the waterline of hot spring pools. This is natural. There are roughly 20 different pools on the property with a lot of boardwalks to connect them. Are they all perfect? No. I’m sure it takes a massive effort to keep everything running sooth with this many pools so I do not fault the place for not being pristine. Perhaps it’s too many pools to keep up perfectly, but I’d rather have more options than a few perfect ones.
Lightning policy: This is indeed a pain. Thunderstorms are a regular occurrence in the Rockies. I heard many visitors upset about closing down the pools for nearby lightning strikes. It sucks, but so does getting hit by lightning so I can see why they do it. The policy (and its lack of refunds) is clearly posted, so do your own forecasting before visiting.
Water: Yes, some pools have “floaties.” This is natural spring water and hot springs have harmless bacteria so it’s just a fact of life. The water is clear in some pools, so find one of those if this is an issue for you.
Rooms: I stayed in one of the basic rooms. It was clearly built in the 40’s or 50’s and most of the fixtures were original. Nothing fancy about it, but it was clean and cozy. There are trains that go by, luckily not all that often and not that bothersome. Breakfast is a bit of a joke, especially since you’d have to drive a ways to do any better, but again, this is listed ahead of time so be prepared if you need some protein in the morning.

My partner and I booked a private hot spring and it was amazing. The minerals in the water made our skin feel renewed and it helped my nails become less brittle… the hour reservation is a perfect amount of time and the rooms come with your own private changing area and shower.
The management was wonderful… as this time of the year there are a lot of unpredictable storms. They kept guests up-to-date on the radar (there has to be no lightening within 5 miles), and offered coffee and hot tea while we waited. For our private rooms they let us move our time to later since there were no bookings later that night. Very kind and helpful people here!
If you don’t mind being patient and waiting out a storm then this place is a perfect stop for a relaxing trip.

We spent several hours at Hot Sulphur Springs, and it was incredibly relaxing and such a unique experience for us. The staff was kind and resourceful upon our arrival. They have a variety of different pools of varying temperatures and mineral levels; everything is well marked and easy to navigate. The shower rooms are updated and clean, which is a must after your soak. We recommended the Springs to all of our friends for this wonderful and rejuvenating experience in some of nature's wonders.

NOT luxury. Felt amazing after a few long hikes.
Good mineral baths. Unfiltered pools (check out Blue Lagoon in Iceland if you're that pressed about "murky")
Good massage.
Didn't stay in the rooms, but I wouldn't - simply based on "ain't a thing in this town"

Trans friendly. This is the best paid hot spring if you're willing to drive into the mountains. Small, intimate pools scattered around the mountain face. Beautiful views. Most pools are 2-4 people max. Then there are some larger ones. Some are covered and some are uncovered. So many options.

I found that staff is friendly if you are friendly to them, and the place as a whole is lovely, in a quirky old Colorado hot springs sort of way. Rooms could really use some updates. FYI room prices are higher if it is a holiday, and they don't seem to limit the amount of visitors... I made the mistake of going during President's day weekend. I learned crowds getting in and out of the pools make them cooler, and there aren't enough warm pools for it to be pleasant with a lot of people who are thinking the same thing! Waking up early in the cold, peaceful morning and sharing the hot springs a just few area locals was the best part of my weekend getaway.

Hot Sulphur Springs Resort is a perfect getaway for those seeking to step from the city hustle and bustle. The springs are perfect for the relaxing your muscles and just taking a moment to decompress. Their magnesium pool is perfect for anyone like myself that works out a lot and want to really ease your sore muscles. There are many pools on property, ranging in different sizes and temperatures. We went when it was blistering cold outside so we loved the higher temperatures. We also had the privilege of staying in the private springs which are perfect for personal sessions if you need to book a session away from the rest of people. The private spring i believe is hotter than the rest of the outdoor ones as it is enclosed and feels way warmer than you'd expect. There are also showers and lockers for you to access and change into.
There is a historic and vintage atmosphere to the resort that many will sure to love. If you book a room your get your basic amenities likes towels and tv nothing to write home to for but it's true bargain if you're travelling in a couple or a small group. My personal favorite part about the springs were the staff. They were incredibly insightful about the area and very helpful for our needs. Overall, if you're looking for a nice getaway for the weekend in a vintage feeling resort, look no further because we will definitely be back here.

Springs were lovely. The temperatures vary between the tubs. Higher on the mountain is hotter. We went in some that were very hot and some that were like bath water. Wonder around and find your perfect temperatures. The rooms are dated, but they are perfect to sleep and shower. They provide unlimited towels for the guests and toiletries in the guest rooms. There is a lovely fireplace room at the lodge to relax and warm up. The staff were all kind and explained everything about the property. The word sulphur explains the smell around the property and the town, but don't forget to remove your jewelry. If you're looking for a 5 Star resort, this isn't it, but it's ideal for a getaway. The website tells you to wear shoes in the decks (slides worked fine for me) - they treat the walkways with salt in winter. Also, the website tells you there is a charge for the use of the lockers. You probably won't have cell service, but there is free wifi in the lodge. Enjoy the unplugged life!

I feel like this place is ok, but not great. When we went there was a bunch of salt on the pathways that really hurt the feet to walk on (I didn't get the memo to where slides/slippers). I felt like the pools temps were a little colder than advertised, and the mineral pools were overrun by kids/families playing, so we kind of wanted to avoid all the commotion. The staff was helpful and informative though. They helped my daughter clean her necklace, which turned black. There was a nice showing of a pack of 16 deer too. Being students helped with discounts, so that was cool.

I had an amazing time! From the public pools to the private ones, it was a truly magical trip. We stayed in a cabin that was built back in the 1840s, and it had the most perfect view. What's more, everyone we met was peaceful and intelligent. Thanks again, for the hospitality.

Some of the best customer service anywhere. We had a lot of questions and they answered all of them. We also had forgot our shorts at the hotel, but luckily they had shorts for purchase. The spas were really nice. The place is a little out dated and needs some renovation but overall, we really enjoyed several of the pools. The warm water felt amazing after a long day of skiing.
Jamie Griffin — Google review
We had a girls day here today 2/7/24. It was great. The staff was helpful, and the massage was great. The pools are labeled with a temperature expectation, which was helpful. We were told to start at the hottest and work our way down. The staff also told us the magnesium pool is best for sore muscles, but they all felt great. I read the reviews, so I knew what to expect. Nothing surprising. Yes we heard a train, but it was short. Yes there's stuff floating in it, it's natural. It's just minerals. There's a board with helpful information before you leave the main desk building. Read it. If you forget anything, you can buy or rent it there. It's recommended or required to bring a swimsuit, towel, robe, flipflops or slides, and a water bottle to stay hydrated. The place is rustic just like the town. You can shower after and they have a soap dispenser in each shower. There are lockers that cost 50 cents and you take the key with you. There is a small sulfur smell. It's in the name people. I have experienced much worse. You can be distracted from it. Just go have fun and enjoy the experience.

Expansive ski resort featuring an acclaimed snowboard park, varying slopes & night riding.
The perfect spot for a ski and snowboard spring break. We were here at the end of March and the skiing conditions were great. There is terrain for every ability. You can ski all day and not cover every trail. We didn't have to wait in any lines for lifts. The surrounding mountain scenery is beautiful! We will be back.

I've riden Keystone about 30 times this 2021-2022 season, with a lot of bad snow, good snow. Early season riding and the these finals days of the season, absolutely worth it every step of the way. The runs for the most part are of good quality, with good variety of all level of terrain. Vail resorts had a tough year with staffing and snow management but in all honesty it really wasn't that bad here at Keystone. It's about an 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Denver which is good if you left at a decent time. Hard to beat that commute.
My only complaint would have to be the Terrain park, it was my first season trying park on skis and I felt a little uneasy on progressing from "easy street" to "the alley". There was very little that help you make that step to the bigger features, went from very small features to intermediate features. Lots of the tubes or rails were set high which was not welcoming for a newer park rider. I think if they had a better progression from beginner to intermediate features the park would be a lot more enjoyable.

I’ve been skiing Keystone since the 80s. It has always been the go to resort. It’s not as fancy and as big as some more popular resorts but it’s right sized and easy to access. Close to Denver and free parking! Plus they opened up a brand new bowl area!

Terrains are always well groomed. Schoolmarm can be a little crowded on Saturday and Sunday , but recently open Bergman bowl have a lot of new green and blue trails. One of a few resorts that offer free parking , which I really appreciate!

My family and I went skiing and this was our first time and after extensive research, we went with Keystone Resort. We chose this because we have two children and wanted to go somewhere that was kid friendly. The resort itself was super clean, the staff was very friendly. We stayed at the bottom of the ski resort and where we were was walking distance to a bunch of places to eat and shop. Based on a scale of 10, where 10 is the best, I’d rank the cleanliness of where we stayed a 10, the views a 10, the convenience of everything being around us also a 10. Basically, I couldn’t have a better time and would definitely book another skiing trip here.

We chose Keystone 6 years ago because it was voted #1 ski resort for kids. Since we had three we went for it. Could not have been better. The ski school is great and the kids love it. There is plenty to do and see off and around the mountain. People and happy and friendly and interesting. Hope to be back for many years to come. Highly recommend using the epic pass for discounts and the Epic mix app for tracking your activity. Super cool to see how much you can ski in a day!

I came here last winter, Jan. 2023, for the first time and had a great time. We stayed at a condo at the resort with a heated pool and loved spending nights drinking and eating pizza, getting crepes, and browsing the gift stores. The ski rental service was also super helpful. It was my first time skiing and the rental guy brought the gear to the lobby and helped size me and teach me a few tricks on making the boots comfortable. I really like how family friendly keystone is, it’s great for beginners.

We had a great time skiing and snowboarding! There was food at the top of the mountain. We took a gondola up and there were lots of ski lifts. I don’t recommend the epic pass though unless you live by here. So many issues with that!

This place is one of the best resorts I've ever been to on the Epic Pass network. I won't go into great detail but trust me, this is a wonderful resort for you, your family, your friends, and your kids. Always plenty of things to do and good food to eat when you aren't on the mountain skiing or snowboarding.
The vibe here is just so much better than most of the surrounding resorts. Within a few minutes of arrival you really get a feel for how relaxed everyone here is, how helpful and kind the staff are, and how laid back you feel allowed to be. Feel free to hang out, enjoy yourself, and relax. They don't even charge for parking!
Also (pictured) they build this huge snow fort every year for kids to play in. It's wonderful.

I absolutely love having the proximity to Denver is. If you are not on your way to a full ski vacation and only want to stay in the city, this is a great destination, and will definitely go again. It’s definitely not as great as Vail in Breckenridge but if you are looking for shorter trip for the day, this place is fantastic.

Great staff, great rentals with Burton boards, helmets and boots. We also took lessons and our instructor was amazing and taught us so many skills. Recommend doing that for beginners. There were so many things I didn't even think about it understood about snowboarding. With lots of shops and places to eat.

Great ski resort! Green trails are easy and beautiful! There is a free bus from one ski lift to another, nice cafes with mountain views, a ski school for children, where we sent our child, there are huge free parking lots not far from the ski lift, Many hotels within walking distance. We will be visiting regularly and would recommend to anyone!

Our family greatly enjoyed the snow sledding during July at the top of the mountain! Taking the ski loft up to the top was a trip in the summer as opposed to the winter. All four of us, adults and kids loved the sledding. They let you do some silly things while keeping you safe. View from the restaurant up top was world class! Staff were all incredibly friendly.
But pricy… but it’s a Major Ski Resort, whatcha gonna do?
Jess Glotzbach — Google review
A BIG negative!!! There aren’t any running trails. All of their trails are dedicated to downhill mtb- there’s a 2 mile loop at the top you can hike but you have to pay $44 for the gondola ride up. It is worth it, but not if you are coming to run on mountains. I’ll also say our condo was great, with a great pool and keystone activities for families were awesome! We loved the quick walk to the best gluten/dairy free pizza we’ve ever had- pizza on the run. Overall a great family getaway!

I love Keystone so much. This is the resort you come to for the laid back, more chill vibes compared to the others. Vail is bougie, Breck has everything, and Keystone is chill.
Amazing terrain that unfolds as you go deeper into the resort. The place is unassuming and surprises you with how big it is.
Pro tip: Don’t forget to check out my favorite runs, Mozart and Wild Irishman 😎🤙

One of my most visited mountains. It does get a bit crowded sometimes, but the variety of terrain is great, even more so once the new lift opens. Usually one of the first to open with a long run, and their extensive snowmaking system keeps it in good shape.

It puked with snow for three days in Keystone and we got in some of the best riding ever. I think this is one of the best places for all levels of rider and some of the black diamond tree runs are intense. There is so much to explore and we will definitely be coming back.

Awesome resort near US-6 and Loveland Pass. We decided to ski here and it was great. The staff were fast and friendly, it was a bit crowded but not too long lift waits, signage was good, and great snow and runs. The traffic there and back from Keystone was also not too bad as well. The temperature was also pretty warm as well and the views were wonderful. Plenty of blues, blacks, and greens too. Overall, it’s worth checking out this resort for Epic pass holders or for anyone!

I can fan girl this resort all day no joke! We’re a family of 5 - 2 adults 3 girls ages 7,5, and 2. This year was our second season at keystone and we can’t wait to come back . Pricing preseason is good , the ski school is phenomenal- my girls both advanced from nothing to going down the slopes with us in 3 days . The instructors are above and beyond . Most importantly - the mountain is so well planned , love indoor gondola , the new lift to the bowl is amazinggggggg !!! We had a blast shredding those trails on Bergman .
It’s a 10/10 for the ski families looking for a well rounded mountain for the whole family to enjoy . We love you keystone can’t wait to come back

My wife and I take winter vacations every year, we enjoy snowmobiling, snow tubing, snowshoeing, and last but definitely not least horseback riding in the snow through the trees, fields and hills. American Safari ranch has it all beautiful scenery, at times wildlife and best of all they have Nick who is a very friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and very talented individual. We have been on several horseback trips but we highly recommend ASR and definitely ask for Nick. We are planning to come back in December and already planning to get Nick.

I did the 9 am 2-hour ride and it was perfect because it wasn’t too hot yet. My horse's name was Phoenix and she did wonderfully. The wranglers Pedro and Rick were great guides and made the ride fun and made you feel safe. I loved that you could just ride and it wasn’t just a straight line of horses following each other on a trail. It was very easy to find the ranch as well. If you want a real riding experience in the mountains I would highly recommend this place.

We had a group of three and booked a 1.5 hr trail ride. I expected the standard in a line, horses bored kind of trail ride. This was way better than expected. Our small group had our own trail guide, Pedro, which was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and funny. We learned riding basics, history of the ranch, flora & fauna, & animals. Definitely the best trail ride I’ve ever been on. Would recommend for any riding experience level as they carefully match you to a horse.

we had a great horseback riding experience at American Safari Ranch with our guide Dustin. Despite a last minute reservation and rather checkered experience in our group this was not just a dull nose-to-tail around-the-barn ride - we went through wide open country, forests and streams, and definitely felt the freedom that comes with this place if you explore it on a horse. And good horses they were - everybody in our group liked their horse (Go Panda!)

Wow!! Where do I start. First off calling and making reservations was so easy. Gary was so nice and professional. We arrived and Gary checked us in and makes us feel very comfortable and welcome. I have been here now 3 times. But each time I bring new people. We got down to barn and these guys are pro. They match you with exactly the right horse. It’s amazing how they are so good at it. Pedro is freaking awesome. I will always request him. He is so nice and so laid back but still gives you tons of information and pointers. He’s so good to the horses and tells the best stories and jokes. I come here every year and will always come to this place for horse riding. Also a side note. Pay for the 2 hour tour. They don’t have a timer running and it’s not rushed at all.

It was just amazing to take the family out for a 1hr 30min horse back riding tour. It was wonderful scenic area we road through with Aspens, small rock formations, a beautiful stream and wide open meadows. We made our way on horse back through a meadow where we found a doe with her two fawns. We also heard Elk bugling in the distance. It was just an awe inspiring horse back ride. Our guide Pedro was extremely friendly and informative. He led us to an old home stead that was from the 1800s. He made us all feel comfortable and safe. He took a lot of amazing pictures for us as well. We all really enjoyed his stories and his warm demeanor. It was just a magical family experience; they had us ride side by side and not in a line which is unique. They also have goats, alpacas and chickens on the ranch as well. I highly recommend taking a horse back tour.

Our guide Dustin was fantastic. He was very nice and kept us entertained through the entire 2 hour ride. He never treated us like ignorant riders. He gave us the utmost respect and always pointed out interesting things to look at or herbal medicine plants that were everywhere on our ride. Ever horse in our group were gentle giants with huge personalities. Mine was named panda, an Arabian mix, and boy did he have character. At the beginning he went slow, but sped up when I gave some small kicks. When we started to head back to the stables, he was oh too excited to get he’s treats and started to go at a decent fast trot to get back. I had to keep stopping and waiting for the other to catch up.
I recommend this place to everyone, from first timers to experienced people. You weren’t restricted to just a small trail but you could take the horse anywhere through the plains, you could go out to far, but the riding wasn’t restricted.

Don’t hesitate to book a trail ride with this ranch! I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. We’ve done trail rides before but this is a completely different experience of true riding in over 3500 acres of the most beautiful country you’ll see. The guides were amazing. Each time we vaca in a new place I look for a place to ride. I don't want a nose to tail ride. This was like being out on your own horse. My husband and I are in Breckenridge, CO for our wedding anniversary , and wanted to go horseback riding. American Safari Ranch is HANDS DOWN the best place around the area for a beautiful, scenic, amazing horse back riding experience! They put me on a very calm, broke horse named Gypsy (being I had little riding experience). Dustin was our guide and was wonderful. He was very nice, genuine, knowledgeable about the area, the land, and the wildlife around. You can tell certainly loves what he does for a living. Thank you Dustin for making our anniversary trip such an amazing experience we will forever cherish! We cannot wait to bring more of our family and friends with us next time!

I called about a month ago to see if I would be able to join a group, as I would be traveling alone. Gary answered and told me to call a day or two in advance and he'd put me in a group. So, that's what he did! He was easy to talk to on the phone and answered any questions I had. When it came time to ride, Pedro was very informative, knowledgeable, and extremely entertaining. As we went through the valley and the forest, he told us of the ranches history, and then showed us the signs of the wildlife along the journey. I have not been horseback riding since I was a teen at summer camp, and Pedro was excellent in his instructions. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We did a two hour horseback ride with Pedro. He was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor. They group you with only your family and it was just my daughter and I. The views were spectacular and Pedro’s knowledge of Colorado history and animals in the area was amazing. It’s not your typical trail ride as there is more freedom and less just follow the leader. The horses are very well trained and they match you well to your horse based on experience. Horses are well taken care of and put out to pasture after the day. We will definitely be back.
Main Street in Breckenridge is a popular shopping district with a wide variety of restaurants and hotels nearby. It's also the central hub for all sorts of events, festivals, and activities happening throughout the year. The street is home to a small park and several historical buildings.
Such a cute downtown area! Small park, river runs along the back of the shops. Lots of different little shops, restaurants and bars. Even some historical buildings and museums.

Our family of 4 (includes an 8 & 9 yr old) took the 2 hour trail ride and loved it! Our guide was Shade, he was very personable, knowledgeable, helpful and looked out for us the whole ride. Beautiful scenery, very majestic and peaceful. We would recommend Rusty Spurr to everyone and will certainly visit them again next time we’re in Colorado. One thing to plan for is leave enough time to get to the ranch, once you turn off the main road to the ranch, it’s still another 15-20 min ride.

We had an amazing time! We did an hour long ride with Shane. My boyfriend rode Crab man and I rode Maverick. The ranch was beautiful as were the horses. Our hostess Paula was super welcoming and kind. We ended up with a private ride due to another person not showing up. The scenery is amazing and Shane had some great stories to tell. He also snapped some photos for us. It was a well priced overall great experience thank you!

The Rusty Spurr Ranch has been THE BEST place for me to ride for over 20 years. The horses are amazing! They are treated by the owners like family members and cared for with love. The wranglers are exceptional individuals who really care that you are having a wonder experience. The views from the trail rides or the Cattledrives are simply amazing. Wildlife can be spotted from time to time from prong horn antelope to golden eagles.
Definitely a place to experience. You will have a wonderful time and meet wonderful new people. The owners Han, Connie and their son Wyatt Smith are wonderful, knowledgeable and exceptional people that will definitely leave you with the best impression. Go and enjoy this beautiful ranch!

The rusty spurr ranch exceeded expectations. We had a stay planned in Estes Park, it was canceled last minute and we had to cancel all of our activities. We were able to locate stay up in Granby and while searching for ranches to do trail rides, the rusty spurr was the only one we called who was willing to accommodate us and even pulled a horse for my young daughter who recently had a birthday so she could ride. That level of customer service and caring is something you can’t put a price on. My daughters face and the joy she had knowing she was going to get to ride meant the world to us. This isn’t a boring follow the Leader type ride, you ride side-by-side, through multiple levels and terrains, it is like a real ride. We have been on multiple rides throughout Colorado and this was easily the best and our favorite. We will be back and cannot stress how great of an experience we had. Our guide shade was awesome, very knowledgeable show us a bunch of areas and explain stories to us, took bunch of pictures for us. If you were in the area, this is the place you want to go to and this is the ride you want to go on. Trust me.

I have been on many rides in Colorado throughout my life and this was the best, without question. The views were breathtaking, the staff was extremely friendly and fun, and the horses were healthy and well-trained for any level of rider. Unlike many other stables, this is not a strict a nose to tail ride and you have the flexibility to take different paths and breakaway from the group with your horse. This kept the ride exciting, creative, and engaging.

My daughter and I went on the cattle drive. Hon was an incredible guide and his rapport with his animals is magical to watch. He truly is the real deal. The horses were well trained, well cared for, in great shape, and a pleasure to ride. Definitely not your typical trail horse! These are true ranch horses for sure. They knew their job, were responsive, moved off the leg easily, and were strong and sure footed. The scenery was breathtaking. This is our first trip to Colorado and we were unprepared for the beauty! Our job on this trip was to gather scattered small groups of cattle, form one large herd (about 75 head by the time we got them all together), take them to water, then move them to new grazing ground. This all happened within one pasture, but Hon explained the importance of moving them around so the land gets grazed evenly and it made complete sense.
Hon was very good at telling us how to ride / work with each horse and gave clear instructions as to how to move the cattle and what the end goal was. Watching the dog work was almost as much fun as driving the cattle ourselves! We were in the saddle for the full 4 hours and covered a lot of ground. My daughter (13) commented that she really felt part of a team as each person played an important role in getting the job done.
I would do this ride again in a heartbeat! You will not regret it (but be prepared to be a bit stiff when you dismount if you don't ride regularly. LOL)

Been at Rusty Spurr the last 2 years doing trail rides, this year I decided to do a 4 hour cattle drive, Great decision!! I had Han and Bailey as guides, both were professional and very passionate about the horses and the land. The scenery was breathtaking. As a beginner I felt comfortable and safe. I would recommend Rusty Spurr to anyone.

Wow! This two hour ride left everyone in my family saying “please mom can we go back and please can I have that horse again?” Connie was an amazing guide and host. She made sure everyone was super comfortable in their saddle and guiding their horse. The horses were amazing. My 13 year old wanted to make her own way. My 8 year old was happy to follow along. Connie made everyone feel comfortable no matter their ability or comfort level. Please book this trip. You will not regret!

If you are ever in the area, this should be on your list of things to do! We went on a 2 hours horseback ride with our family of 5. Holly was our guide and she was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, professional, and fun! The views once you get to the top are picturesque, and breathtaking. Holly gave us plenty of time to take pictures and soak up the view. It's so peaceful and quiet atop if the mountain we climbed with the horses. They recommend bringing pants and bug spray for good reason! The bugs eat you up pretty quick. The sun hits a little different up there as well so definitely recommended sunscreen! Definitely recommended this to anyone! We will be back!

This is not your nose-to-tail boring horseback ride. I return every year to Rusty Spurr Ranch for a number of reasons. The owners of Rusty Spurr own all of the rental horses and take great, loving care of their equine. It is a beautiful, open range ride. In June the flowers are on beautiful display. The views and vistas are spectacular and the guides are always a lot of fun and educational. By far the best ranch in the region to ride for an epic experience. I'm looking forward to the 3-hour ride and the cattle drive.

We had an absolutely amazing time on the 2 hour ride with Butch and Sassy. Definitely not your average trail riding business. You get the freedom to ride as you please. No awful robotic nose to tail ride. The horses here are a joy to ride and aren’t afraid to show their unique personalities, something that is rare in a trail riding business. And the owners pair you up perfectly with the right horse for you! When arriving to the facility, we were greeted with a huge smile and welcomed by a couple of their adorable dogs. They helped us mount and off we went! Our ranger was super friendly and gave us our freedom to ride where we please while also keeping safety in mind at all times. Beautiful scenery with even more beautiful horses. This place is definitely a gem in Colorado and I would love to return one day.

We had the most amazing experience horse back riding at the Rusty Spurr Ranch. Bailey our guide was incredible and the scenery was so picturesque it looked fake and felt unreal. The best part of this company is they give you the freedom to ride the horses without being nose to butt in a straight line. The horse back riding experience levels were all over in our group, yet everyone had the best time! I highly highly recommend them! We can’t wait to come back.

Amazing experience at Rusty Spurr Ranch! The drive to the ranch was beautiful and easy with their directions, the employees were all friendly and welcoming, and the horses were incredible with the different experience levels of our group (from novice to experienced). The 2-hour tour is a must- we roamed over peaks and through aspen trees with such gorgeous views. Our guide Holly was so patient, kind and helpful in teaching us how to maneuver and guide the horses up and down the beautiful landscape. Truly an unforgettable experience! We can’t wait to return!

This could not have been a better experience! Everyone was super nice, and the horses were very well kept and very well mannered. Many places ask the questions to ascertain riding level but either don’t have enough horses to match everyone to a suitable horse or just aren’t good at it. The matches here were 100% on target. We had a wide variety of skill level in our group and they delivered the perfect experience for all. Very well done!!! The trail ride was beautiful, scenic, and mellow. The cattle drive was definitely more adventurous and completely worthwhile!
Jennifer Raggi — Google review
I cannot recommend this place enough!! We had the BEST time! The best part is that the ride is not a “nose to tail” ride, instead they teach you how to steer your horse and encourage you to spread out and find your own path!
We did a 2 hour private ride with a group of 12 and it was amaaaazing! The aspen groves are beautiful and the view from the top is awesome! All of the beauty without the work of hiking to the top.
We also bought the cowboy hats that they sold for $30 in their store, and it brought the photos to the next level!
Our guides were so kind and knowledgeable!! The horses were sweet and so so we’ll trained - those horses live the best life!
If you are going to go horseback riding in Colorado, your research is done - this is the best place you can go. 🤠

Above and beyond all my expectations. The entrance signage to the ranch is a bit hidden, so be highly alert for the entrance from the highway. The gravel road is very well maintained and takes you straight to the ranch. We where running a little behind and the staff called to make sure we weren't lost or needed anything. Everyone of the staff was supper friendly and helpful. The riding was so amazing, as we got to spread out and direct your horse in the direction you choose. Holly was our guide and treated us all so great. Checked on everyone several times to make sure we where all conformable.( I did ask her to adjust the stirrup 1/2 way into it.)
Got to take some amazing pictures and guide even offer to take us a couple. The wild flowers where great saw plenty of Columbines and wild roses. We did get rained on but our guide was productive on getting us all the rain jackets before it started to rain. And the rain just made the experience that much more magical. Did see a lot of mosquitos but did not get any bites.
We will definitely be back!!!

Breckenridge Ski Resort is a renowned full-service ski resort located in the Tenmile Range west of the Continental Divide. The resort spans over five peaks with diverse terrain and boasts 31 different chair lifts for easy access to skiing and snowboarding. Beginners and advanced skiers will enjoy the numerous trails, while those wanting an adventure can take a guided tour of the backcountry.
My first time up to the ski resort and we were up here for the ice sculptures contest. It was fantastic. My family who lives in Colorado wanted to show me around the ski resort. Beautiful place. Love all the shops and the gondola ride. Even got to see the cool wood troll. Next time we will have to try the skiing. But I wanted to give a shout out to one of your employees who worked for the event staff of the ice sculptures. She was very kind and helpful. She helped take pictures of our group and even gave the kids and us event ice sculpture patches. They are so cool. She has wonderful customer services skills. Her name is Bambi and we all appreciated her friendly and helpful nature. We will go there again. Great beautiful place. The Mexican restaurant we ate at was great also. Good good.

Absolutely love this resort. We've been here twice so far for conferences, and we really enjoy staying here. They need to know to not take away the coffee too early for a bunch of Lutheran pastors and their families! Also, the little store inside the conference center did not have much change, so we either had to use a card or have exact change.

I had the pleasure of snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort when I was living in Colorado Springs and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The resort is massive, with a vast array of runs catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. The scenery is breathtaking, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The lifts are efficient and the staff is friendly and helpful, making for a seamless and enjoyable experience.
What really sets Breckenridge apart, however, is the vibrant atmosphere and après-ski scene. The quaint town is filled with charming shops, restaurants, and bars, and the ski village itself is buzzing with energy and excitement. Whether you're looking to relax with a warm drink by the fire or party the night away with friends, Breckenridge has something for everyone.
Overall, I highly recommend Breckenridge Ski Resort to anyone looking for an unforgettable ski vacation. The combination of world-class skiing, stunning scenery, and lively atmosphere make for an experience that is truly second to none.

Lodging: We stayed at Main Street Station in a Vacasa rental. Condo was comfy (loved that it has a fire place, a balcony, and a large bathtub). Bed was not very comfy and it’s time to replace the pillows. A big plus for the humidifier in our condo. Talk about a life saver for someone who is not accustomed to the lovely dry weather on this beautiful mountain. Oh and the laundry facilities were free (make sure to bring your own detergent).
Perfect location to be. Walking distance to Main Street (where all the shops, restaurants, and grocery store is), and super close to one of the lifts to have your fun in the snow.
Snowboarding lesson and Rental: *I give it a 3.5 stars*
I took a group lesson. I’m not sure if this is normal but the group was really big for one instructor (1 instructor for 9 students). It felt like a cluster, once the class started to get smaller the instructor was able to provide more attention to the group.
For example my bindings were loose and was not checked (neither from the gear rental place or instructors) until we got up the mountain after asking the instructor if the tightness was correct (it felt loose and had no control on the board). Again not sure if this is normal but as a first timer that felt unsafe.
Now, it’s a good price when getting gear including a helmet (I highly recommend getting one), lift ticket, and a lesson. Just wished staff (rental & instructors) would take the time to ensure their students are set up correctly especially those that are trying this out for the first time and have no knowledge of how gear should be set up.

Lots of ski options, queues not to bad and we'll staffed/managed to keep things moving. Good variety of slopes for all levels and some good practice areas for beginners. We had a pass for 4 days and there was lots of slopes we didn't get to try out. Battled a little with the altitude but overall we loved it. Breckenridge town was also very attractive and welcoming.

The best skiing experience ever! High alpine as well as beginner and moderate runs. Get the Epic pass to get the best bang for your buck. Lines on weekends get crazy after 10a, but mid week is incredible. The resort has excellent customer service, and they go over and above on a regular basis. Be ready to experience high winds that can limit high alpine accessibility. It's a good idea to check the weather ahead of time. Also, download the Epic app that has maps and wait times for all lifts.

A wonderful area both in winter and summer. Plenty of activities for the entire family. Great runs for all levels of skiers. In the summer, there are plenty of outdoor activities ,from bicycling to white water rafting and hiking. The landscape and views are breathtaking. Shopping and dining are plentiful. There is a City market which is very convenient to purchase food and other items to make your vacation complete. Definitely a worthwhile vacation spot.

This is a great resort to bring the family to. Took my family there and they loved it. Stayed in a lodge not too far. The rentals are fairly easy to rent compared to other ski resorts in New Mexico and California. It’s a great place to go when there are bunch of snow or even during the summer it looks nice in the surrounding areas by the ski resort. Overall 10/10 for me!

Absolutely beautiful! Perfect for friends or family. This place is a paradise in the mountains. Try and go when the weather is clear to see the mountains and gorgeous views better. Food and resorts are stupendous. 34 resorts on the ski pass with over 100+ slopes to. House from. Easily the best skiing in the U.S. 10 stars. Going again next year.

Wow! Amazing Resort and great people and Staff. Breck is an amazing town with many great spots. The resort itself is great however still EPIC… this leaves tighter regulation and higher prices for everyone. Otherwise I could not recommend more. Very family oriented with tons of rolling groomer runs, while still having high altitude and great steeps.

This is a nice ski resort offering a white selection of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. You will find the ski resort spread out over many peaks and if your skin with a group, it may take a little while to get back together for something like lunch. That being said, you should enjoy yourself at this resort.

The mountain:
I went skiing at Breckenridge in February. When they first open in the morning it’s great, but it quickly gets way too crowded. I had to dodge tons of people when coming down the runs. The lift operators are not very efficient at getting people up the mountain. The lines were long but took longer than needed because they don’t seem to have a good system of filling each chair and quickly moving people through the line (most chairs not full, not pulling people out of line when having issues scanning lift ticket, not helping to merge the lines).
Food:
Busy lunch areas that are easily accessible from the runs. Higher prices than other resorts in CO, but still comparable. Lots of outdoor seating which is nice when it’s a beautiful day outside.
Parking:
There was an uncovered pay parking lot available near the gondola loading area.
I was there on a Friday, I will have to go back on a weekday and see if the situation is any better.

Disclaimer: my latest trip to this place was during the summer. Little did I know there would be so much to do in this beautiful town, in the summer, given I've visited this town many times during winter. Plenty to do, spectacular scenery, great food, concerts, hiking, biking, kayaking, all of it in very pleasant weather conditions. Plan to return next summer.

An awesome ski resort. The staff were great and friendly, the people are extremely friendly, great snow and runs near the first day, and had delicious food here. The weather was nice and sunny. This resort offers epic passes as well. There was no traffic for us on a Sunday Veteran’s Day weekend to and from the resort for us, which was a plus. Overall, I highly recommend this resort for Epic pass users or for anyone!

Been coming to Breck for 25 years and I truly consider it my second home. The resort area is beautiful in winter and summer, but be careful around holidays. It’s very, very busy, and less experienced folks should be cautious when maneuvering the town. Other than that, walking Main Street and finding new spots to try is my favorite thing to do. I’m big on skiing and we always use Blue River Sports for our ski rentals. Been going there so long, they know our names. Make sure to hit the lifts early to avoid lines, but mid week is always best because none of the bases are busy. Parking is hard to find, so walking is always better and it’s more fun! If you have questions, let me know, but coming here for so long and aren’t stopping any time soon!

Beautiful mountain scenery, tourist centered atmosphere, and EXPENSIVE 💲💲 💲 I hurt myself and only could watch the rest of my family having wonderful time skiing. I actually did not mind at all. I thought the crown jewel of this small ski resort was what the mother nature is offering us. Just breathing the fresh air, comforting with soothing real image of the great mountain side scenery, and feeling the winter are what I truly needed from my average life, working to protect the society and raising a family. The resort offers great accommodation at a price. I wished the lift tickets were cheaper. With EPIC deal, I found the lift tickets for half off and paid $110 per person. My family were baby skiers, so they had to get the lessons. I paid around $330 per person for a full day lesson that included the lift ticket and the equipment rental. Now, if you are getting the ski lessons, Listen Carefully!! The lessons start promptly at 9 am but it will take more than an hour to get your paperwork done and the rental. So, be at the rental office by 8AM, or you will miss the first half hour.

Beautiful lifts, lots of runs. I had a great experience. Everything is well maintained and marked off.
Several food options across the different peaks.
Great Run variety, plenty of long easy green runs for beginners especially at peak 9. And plenty of blacks and double blacks for the advanced. They've got moguls, a park, back bowls, long runs through the Forrest and more!
I would recommend not skiing to the very bottom of the mountain as those lines can get backed up, just hit the middle lifts and you'll be all set!

Historic 1880s Gold Rush town that's now a museum with more than 40 buildings & 60,000 artifacts.
Absolutely awesome place full of great history! My family loved it and our son had a great time!
Many of these houses are from other towns and were relocated to this town for the museum. I personally loved the saloon I just wish I could hang out there longer lol. There are so many great artifacts here to show how it really was back in the day. I highly recommend this place!

Oh this place was amazing! I love history and I've been to see these type of collections of historic buildings in several places. This was my favorite so far! The historical detail and the condition of the buildings were very much appreciated. We were also tickled about how it is set up as a town in the 1800s, wooden sidewalks and all! Even my kids (4 & 9) had a blast! Perhaps best of all, they allow you to bring your dog with you. It was a day well spent in my family!

What an amazing place! Like stepping back in time. The best thing is the interactivity of the various displays. We had watched a special, on PBS, about this place, and HAD to go see it. The places is absolutely awesome! Incredibly preserved local Colorado history with period displays. Very tastefully restored and stocked with period items (many local). A feast for all ages. Climb on historic trains, descend into an underground mine display, see the 'old theatre', enter into all historical buildings and structures. A great outing all around! More in depth stories can be found on South Park's YouTube channel as well!

This place was a really nice find, especially if you want to see a glimpse of history as it was in an old mining town from the 1800's. We spent about an hour and a half here and ran out of time, so we only got to see about half of it. If you like this kind of stuff, it should be on your "can't miss it" list.

This is recommended if you like looking at what mining used to be and how people lived in this mining town. The mannequins look very lifelike and they exhibits look like they’re still here in the 21st century even though some of the stuff is a bit ruined. The museum is very educational and you should definitely come here if you have nothing to do.

Wonderful museum, much more interesting and a lot more to see than I expected! This is a series of buildings that you get to walk through and experience different historical exhibits that are set up. It’s a great experience that feels a lot like going back in time and experiencing things as they were in the late 1800s. Very, very much worth the admission!
If you’re looking to get a feel for this area’s history, this is the place to start.

This was one of best stops of our trip! E searched many days for cool ghost towns but this is a fully restored town with real buildings and artifacts and really gives you the experience of an old west town. The kids loved it and the price was only $10 or so each, so it was a great value! There were even QR codes on the wall linked to YouTube videos of more in depth material on the different buildings. Such a cool experience!

This is a must-stop if you are traveling to this area. Likely the traffic during high season will make to stop to take a break, and a walk thru the museum is perfect for stretching and learning some history while you're at it. Also, very important to note: it has accesses ramps (strollers and wheelchairs), and pets are welcome. So bring the whole family! (just be careful/kind with the local kitties)
Copper Mountain is a sprawling ski resort with an impressive 140 downhill trails and a network of 16 miles of cross-country routes. Offering stunning views and a variety of terrains suitable for all levels, the resort has something for everyone. Visitors can also enjoy an alpine slide as well as ice skating, shopping and dining options. Although some skiers may find the tree runs challenging due to their tight design, Copper Mountain provides a great skiing experience overall.
We are visiting Breckenridge in April so it is still snowy and we are not skiers so we were trying to find things to do with the family. We decided to try to tubing hill at Copper Mountain. We were not disappointed! You go online to reserve your time and you can tell how many are signed up for your session. I think the max number is 85 and the workers told us there were about 55 in our group. That was a nice number. There were a lot more in the session ahead of us and they definitely had longer wait lines. There is a people mover type magic carpet that takes you back up to the top of the hill so you don’t have to climb it yourself. There were 9 people in our family and we were all able to go down 6-7 times. You can go down by yourself or in large groups, you hold onto each other’s feet and the workers basically sling you down the hill. The staff was awesome, very friendly, and professional. I would definitely go again. I was a little nervous it wouldn’t be worth the money but we all felt it was worthwhile. The magic carpet goes a little slow but it allows you time to catch your breath before you get back to the top. I did ask when the best time to go is and was told when it is sunny and the snow has melted enough that a little ice forms. He said fresh powder isn’t as fun.

We had a BLAST over here at Copper today! Decided to have a fun time skiing today with the boys and girls and the snow was good and was not busy at all, which was AWESOME!!! The lifts and the staff there were friendly, the lifts (especially American Flyer) [Photo 25 of 31] run very nice. The eateries available here are great too for lunch and the snow and weather was windy but great!
For parking, it was kinda hard to get a closer spot to the lifts but we got one (handicap pass only) and some outer parking lots where you take the shuttle. So was some park & pays.
Overall, AWESOME time we had there at Copper. Highly recommend and will come back to this ski resort soon!

The facilities are the best I have ever experienced thus far. The check-in process through the kiosk was extremely fast and efficient. We did park at the Ten Mile Lot, which is situated right outside of the resort, for an additional cost of $55. However, there are free parking options and further lots with shuttle buses available. We went on a Saturday in December, and the mountain was generally not crowded. There are a myriad of staff scattered in all areas to help assist with any needs. The runs on this mountain are very long, which I love, but it may require some awareness and preparation in advance for inexperienced riders. There are obstacle courses available, providing a challenge to riders as well. I would gladly return here to snowboard for the weekend.

Spent the day skiing Copper mountain and I was lucky to join hosts Chris and Fran at the top of the American Eagle lift for a free tour to learn the terrain and how to get around. They were amazing hosts! Never would have dared explored where we went as I’m a Blue run skier but we had a great 2.5 hour tour. Saw so much of this beautiful ski area. Very appreciative.

Free Parking! Easy Shuttle! Good grooming.
Despite the warm temperatures and spring conditions the snow was remarkably good. The grooming on the mountain was good and wide spread. The snow was actually pretty consistent from top to bottom.
As much as I love Breckenridge, for similar temperatures the snow seemed to be better at Copper. It might be the grooming, it might be the more northerly exposure of many of the slopes.

We had the best time on Copper Mountain's Tubing Hill during our family vacation to Colorado. The parking was a bit packed, but the buses run constantly and we had no trouble getting to the mountain. We tubed as a family, as individuals, in pairs .. we all had a blast! The hill wasn't packed, so we were able to tube as many time as we wanted during our hour! Tubing is a must when you're in Colorado!

Had a great time visiting Copper mountain in the summer. We bought the family pass for the adventure park and had an awesome time. From the coaster ride, go karts, bumper boats, zip line, and scenic lift ride we spent a whole day there and had an awesome time. I will definitely have to come back to Copper mountain someday in the winter, was real impressed with the place!

I love copper mountain but I moved away from Colorado to Beaufort North Carolina! What was I thinking??? I'm coming back to the beautiful state of Colorado and live .and reside somewhere close. That part of Colorado is the most amazing place in the world ! That's God's country!

Absolutely love this mountain! So many dog friendly spots. Great village and staff. The vibes are amazing! It's not even Thanksgiving and the skiing is great. The conditions is what the east coast would consider a "powder day" I hope I can come back again when the season is in full swing!!

Great time tubing with the family! It was a gorgeous day with the sun shining, perfect weather. We probably did not need the neck gators.
Would have liked the sessions to be two hours vs. one but we still had a great time. Be sure to connect together so everyone in your group goes down the hill together! The farthest lane is supposed to be the fastest.

Really fun mountain and good trail layout. Most of the greens are concentrated in one area, so easy for beginners to practice without worry about running into too difficult of a run. As someone who enjoys blues & the occasional black, was nice to have those areas of the mountain sparsely crowded. What's great about Copper is that the runs are LONGGGGG. Make sure to take the Rendezvous & Sierra lifts for some bowl-like skiing even if you're more on the beginner/intermediate side. Beautiful!

Great ski mountain. Loved 3 days of skiing here and I must say I had the best food (chicken tenders) compared to all the other ski resorts I have been to. The views are amazing. There are different terrains for everyone. I felt the trees are a little tight for skiing compared to winter park but I enjoyed them nonetheless. The shops are wonderful and I saw an ice skating area as well. The free parking is a little far away but there are shuttles that take around ~5 mins ride to the base. Overall great experience and I’d definitely recommend this for skiing.

I went to Copper Mountain for the first time last week, and I skied in Colorado for the first time ever! I really enjoyed my time here, the mountain itself is big and has options for all skiers. Since I am newer to skiing I decided I would sign up for an adult group lesson on the mountain. This was the BEST decision I could’ve made. My instructor was amazing, he took us from skiing on the tiny ski school slope to (mostly) confidently skiing a run with all the rest of the skiers! If you have any chance to request an instructor/choose, Jeff is amazing! All the ski instructors seemed to be very knowledgeable but Jeff really stood out to me. Also, the snow itself was very nice when I went, it wasn’t icy and it seemed well kept. This mountain has a LOT of options for food and drink, I was mainly in the middle and west villages but I’m sure that applies to east village as well. Since I have a small appetite I got a kids meal and for me, that was just the right amount of food. And as ski resorts go, it wasn’t too overpriced. It was definitely a bit expensive, but not horrible. I really enjoyed my time here at Copper and I can’t wait to come back next season when I get an Ikon pass!

My favorite mountain so far during this year’s pre season. New to Colorado but the open runs are long, both too crowded and you can ski a lot until your legs give out!

Had a great day! The rental process here was great! Very efficient and right by the main lift. Went at 9am and it only took 4 minutes, maybe it wasn’t busy but either way had separate stations for each piece of equipment. Can’t comment about parking as we had a place on the resort. Would love to come again during mid season

Something for everyone. But I want to talk about the ski/snowboard instructors. Our group from church loves Chris. He is great with the kids and the grown ups! Our snowboarding instructor is Marissa! We plan our trips to Copper based on her availability! She has coached me, my wife and all four of our kids. She is amazing! This trip, she jumped in between our 7-year-old daughter and a MOOSE that made its way onto “Lumberjack”
She was calm, reacted fast, and jumped over up my daughter, with a MOOSE 10 yards away.
I can’t type this without crying.
I can’t say enough amazing things.
If you have new skiers definitely ask for Chris.
If you have new snowboarders and you want MOOSE protection, you have to get Marissa.

Copper is a solid top-10 Colorado mountain. Great terrain that receives great snow at its high elevation (9700ft at the base) and service by several 4-6 person detachable chairs. Most hills are north facing and can be icy. Only complaints: blue runs are overly groomed, making it icy and leaving no space to form bumps and collect snow, limited glade skiing that isn't thick with evergreens, and lack of drinking water and toilets on the hill. A personal favorite area now requires a long hike as the Celebrity Ridge lift has been closed all season.

I like this mountain and resort a lot. Chill, yet well managed. Friendly people and happy vibe. Mountain is divided by level of expertise - I am an intermediate snowboarder - and so makes it easy for a person like me. Parking and egress was fairly easy. Close to a main highway. Overall, a first-rate experience. Thanks Copper…will be back! ✌🏽💗🙏🏽

Review’s strictly for group snowboarding lessons!
My girlfriend and I came here in April, and luckily we were the only ones in our group so it turned to a private lesson. I paid a total of $356 for 2 full-day lessons and lift tickets. It seem much more affordable than the other resorts I saw near Denver. Our instructor, Alex, was such a stud! He really made the experience worth the value. He took his time to show us all the beginning tips and tricks, and also was such a cool dude to hang out with. I definitely recommend him for beginner snowboarding lessons and I appreciate him for showing us to a great time on the slope!
Time for epsom salt.

We had a great time at Copper Mountain! We went skiing and tried out the snow tubes. The price for ski lifts and rentals are fair but for $100 I was expecting snow tubing to last more than 30 seconds. You can go unlimited times for 1 hour, It’s just not what I was expecting.
The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado is a botanical garden with a wide variety of flowers and plants. The gardens attract more than 100,000 visitors each year and are heavily influenced by President Gerald Ford and his wife, Betty. The Education Center at the garden attracts more than 5,000 students each year for tours and other educational events.
Wowed by this place! Sept 1st visit and you could see that many of the flowers were getting to the end of their blooming season but still so beautiful. We spent a good hour just walking around and taking it in. Amazed at all the plants from all over the world.

It seems like a small garden at first but it is anything but. The trails keep winding around. Maybe all the plants aren't labeled but the thematic Alpine gardens were beautiful. There were additional features like water falls. The gift shop had an awesome assortment of yard art. We spent way too much! Highly recommend.

Betty Ford Alpine Garden and Ford Park is within walking distance from Vail Village. One can take shuttle from Vail Village or follow a trail along Gore Creek for about 10-15 minute walk. The trail is running behind several condos, hotels and offering chance to see some wildlives of several birds, plants. Around end of October, most of plants are entering dormant.

Beautiful flowers and exotic plants are immersed in a native mountain environment. The gardens are extremely well-maintained. The entire experience is amazing and refreshing.
You can park at the Vail Garage for free. The walk to the park in itself is gorgeous and only takes ten minutes. You can also park at the gardens very easily unless there a big event going on.
There is a large kid's playground, a perfectly manicured grass field, and the gorgeous Eagle River right next to the gardens. They'd even a bathroom and tables to rest at and enjoy. Top it off with a neat little gift shop and an amphitheater to compete this gem! Really a must visit when in Vail or even driving by I70!

Absolutely gorgeous botanical garden! There is no admission fee. They do have a recommended donation of $20 per person, which seems steep (for comparison, my own hometown's world-class botanical garden is $14 for general admission, and is at least 30x as big as this garden; we also visited Denver Botanic Gardens on our vacation, and spent $15 per adult, for an area about 15x as large).
I liked how it was arranged with different sections dedicated to different regions or specific subcategories of alpine regions. Including a stop at the playground and in the education center, we spent about 45 minutes here.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, CO is an amazing place to spend a peaceful day surrounded by exquisite natural beauty. Right from the moment you enter the gardens, you are mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes and architecture. The gardens are extremely well-designed and maintained, providing visitors with a chance to stroll through magnificent wildflowers, trees, and grasses.
Walking amidst the tall trees, flowing streams, and flowers of all colors and sizes felt therapeutic and calming. The sound of birds chirping added to the serene ambiance of the gardens and gave a feeling of being close to nature. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many trails, benches and pavilions dotted throughout the gardens.
The knowledgeable volunteers at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens were more than happy to share their wisdom and answer my questions, making the visit even more interesting and informative. The Leadville Railroad company offers a three-hour train ride with stunning panoramic views of the Arkansas River Valley forest and Colorado's highest peaks. The train provides open air and enclosed seating, as well as the option to ride with the conductor for an additional fee. Snacks, coffee, hot dogs, big pretzels, beer and wine are available for purchase on board along with restroom facilities. Visitors can also explore Leadville's main street before or after their trip to discover its unique shops and attractions.
The staff was so attentive, the train cars were clean and we even had a surprise visit from the main man himself, Santa Claus. It was a delightful surprise. Pricing was reasonable, the views are stellar. You can even open your window in your booth area for good air flow. Just a heads up, the restrooms are port a John's, not filthy, but I didn't know so heads up! The gift shop is cute. We had a great experience!

So glad we did this. Perfect weather and had a wonderful time. We paid a little extra for the box car and I am glad we did. The booths were comfortable and we liked having a table and large windows. The side of the train that faces the town is the one you want to be on. That side has the best views but you can also pop over to the open car for some amazing pics.

Nice but definitely lacking the refinement of similar outings. You don’t get to see the mine. It’s kind of the one thing you should see. Views are very one directional as you proceed up the valley and really only awesome in a couple places. You don’t get very high at all which is weird. The crew is super enthusiastic and entertaining. Plenty of seating. Food and snacks fine but nothing special. The town is way more fun and charming. Still it’s a must do once right?

We had a wonderful time going on the Railroad trip for Easter! It was a 2 hour long ride, concessions & restrooms were available on board. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL! It was well worth it! The staff were very friendly & attentive during the ride.
We would have liked to have a little bit less narrative during the ride and more relaxing music. And the restrooms could use some attention.

If you want a great view of the mountains, from the mountains, have around 3 hours to spare, and want to learn about the area, do it.
On board they have open air seating as well as enclosed, you can even pay additional to ride with the conductor. Provided for purchase you can get an array of snacks, coffee, hot dogs and big pretzels, even a few beer/ wine options in a can.
Restrooms are also provided if needed.
My wife and I rode the entire trip in the open air seating and the views are fantastic.
Before or after, check out the main drag in Leadville and explore the shops they have to offer. If you like exploring little towns this one is cool.

The 1:30 train was a great winter treat. Each family has the ability to reserve a table in one of the indoor train cars.
The conductor was very informative and knew the history of Leadville and the train construction quite well.

This is our second trip. We also did the summer ride but this was more fun!

This experience was so worth it! We took our kids (11 and 8) on the fall special train ride, and everyone had such a great time! It was too early for the fall colors, but this was the only weekend we could get up there, and it didn’t make the train ride any less memorable!
The kids loved being able to get hot chocolate on the train ride and the apple cider was good too:) My husband got his apple cider spiked and he loved it. It was chilly, but sunny and we brought jackets and hats, which were needed!
They have a nice-sized concession car on board, so you can get food/drinks and momentos. I got a hoodie and a magnet. They also come around offering to take a family photo, which they were selling later for 20 dollars for one:)
The views on the ride were spectacular and the conductor was knowledgeable and fun to listen to! All of the people working were happy and helpful- you could tell they loved their job:)
If you have the chance to get out to Leadville, I highly recommend this excursion. It was a highlight of our trip and we loved it so much!

I think overall this is a great train ride for the price compared to other options in Colorado. Beautiful views, but the other lower ratings are correct when they mention narration in the first half of the ride. My group was actually interested in learning the history, but the noise of the train as well as passengers were much louder than the person talking. I wish it was louder or that passengers who are interested in learning have earbuds or something to listen in. I still rate this high because for the price, it was still a good experience. The train does ride slow because its a scenic ride, so 2 hours may feel long for many.

My wife and I had the pleasure of taking this train ride mid-September when the railroad was offering their fall special. The train went up the mountain farther than usual to give us views of the spectacular aspens as their leaves turned golden and orange. The weather was perfect and the views of the mountains, valleys, and fall leaves was amazing. The conductor was also the tour guide and entertained us with stories regarding local lore and the history of the train and the mines it serviced. We have been on several train rides of this type and this was definitely on of our favorites!

Wow! What a great experience. I was not sure what to expect, but they far exceeded my expectations. The train is quite large, with multiple cars of various types. There is even a bar/snack/gift shop car which yes, sells alcohol. Optional seating (which you can change freely) are Open air train cars, enclosed cars, a dining car, restroom car and the caboose. The caboose car is for private reserve reservations BUT highly recommend.... half the train ride is in the reverse direction, so the private caboose is well worth the experience. There is a Brake Man in the Caboose which works outside but you can talk to him/her freely, and he was super nice and smart.

Went the first week of Aug on a Monday on the 2 PM train. Booked 11 seats for a group of friends visiting from CA and BC and family. It was raining for the first few minutes so we moved to a car with overhead cover but no windows for unobstructed views and no rain coming down on us. The conductor kept things interesting on the ride out talking about the history of Leadville and the area and the history of railroads in Leadville. Of course this history is steeped in mining and so we learned about the metals that were mined in the past to present day. Makes everything more interesting when you know the history IMO.
Train made a stop on the way back so we could stretch our legs and tour some of the old train cars no longer in use. After the stop we rode back in silence enjoying the views.
2.5 hours. Out and back. Don't recall the distance exactly but I think 22 miles total. You can bring food on the train but they also have a store that sells food on the train (and on the way back the food is heavily discounted as they need to sell it or have to toss it at the end.) On the expensive side IMO but folks liked it (so maybe I'm cheap 😀).

Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, this ride will take your breath away, especially during the fall colors. The train travels 9 miles out, then back for a 2.5 hour trip. The train itself has standing, open air cars for viewing the sights. We spent most of the time there. The passenger cars are older and in rough shape, but nothing worrying - some windows won't open. If you are a dog lover, they are allowed! If not, there will be dogs onboard. Snacks are available onboard, and bathrooms, but the bathrooms are unusual.
The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum is a popular tourist destination in Leadville, Colorado. This museum showcases a replica of a mine, various minerals, and even features an interactive model railroad exhibit. Visitors are advised to bring water and pain medication due to the high altitude. The exhibits cater to every age group with plenty of opportunities for learning about mining history and mineral samples from different places around the world. It is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
This museum has a little bit for everybody. The woman who worked there knew exactly where to direct us so our boys (6&3) would have fun. We went late in the afternoon on a Saturday this spring and were the only ones in there for a bit. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

Be aware as a tourist not from Colorado, Leadville is at a high altitude, so bring water and advil. You'll be out of energy faster than you realize. Especially walking through this museum. Lots to see on different levels of the building. The interactive mines that they have are very cool. All the mineral samples from different places. There is a lot to learn. We had a great time.

This museum is a pretty neat experience. There are a lot of things to look at and read. The walk through of their mine exhibit is probably the best part. My only grievance with this place is the admission price: $14 is too steep a price for what is here. I understand this is Colorado and all but $8-$10 is the only reasonable price. The young lady at the admission counter is very nice and friendly, the woman in the gift shop didn't even speak to us, so you definitely have both ends of the friendliness spectrum covered. Overall if you're in town it's a cool place to check out.

Much more inside to look at than you would guess from the outside. It doesn't just include one form of mining, but many different kinds, and just from this area, but from all over the world. If you really wanted to watch all that is there, you could spend hours, we probably spent a couple of hours there. It is like a maze and has a total of 5 levels. Many interesting things to look at.

I went as part of a group of 10 adults. We stayed for 3 hours & all enjoyed the museum. While we were there, a school group was also there, which made the 3rd floor a noisy place for awhile.
The first entrance we tried was locked & it confused us because it was 45 minutes after the museum should have opened for the day. Turns out that's the summer entrance. The non-summer entrance is on one end of the building. While inside the museum, I witnessed several other visitors trying to access the building using the "summer entrance", I'm not sure why they can't use the same entrance year-round? I guess it's probably because the gift shop is located next to the non-summer entrance ticket desk?
Exhibits included information about the Ice Palace (only lasted a few months before melting, you can visit the park where it was located- it is behind the museum), Climax Mine (about 15 minutes away), mining safety gear, and the Tabors. The 3rd floor had an interesting assortment of exhibits: a model railroad (it was out of order, but I'm guessing when it works the train runs around the tracks), a model of the Ice Palace, approximately 20 dioramas, a mock mine tunnel, a coin with a panda on it, pictures of some kind of currency (we think it was a company town thing), and information about minerals that are in common household products. The flourescent minerals on the 1st floor were really neat! There were also some exhibits that played short films & there was an exhibit that talked about mining in space.
We did find the Hall of Fame to not be of much interest, and the members of the Hall of Fame were almost all Caucasian men from what we could tell.
There is a library on the 5th floor, which is locked unless you have an appointment, which is unfortunate because there were some absolutely beautiful stained glass windows that I would have loved to have gotten a better view of. There's also beautiful stained glass windows on the 4th floor landing where the patio door is. The patio door apparently gets stuck sometimes because there was a sign up with a number to call if you couldn't get the door to open up to get back inside.
A week before our visit I called to find out if we needed to do anything special because we were coming as a group, I was told no & that I could go ahead and buy tickets online- there was no mention that I could do it in person on the day of my visit. I then proceeded to buy the tickets online- I recommend that you do not because the woman at the ticket desk was very confused by my having already purchased tickets. When you buy online you also have to pay additional fees & my group that I was booking for has tax-exempt status but there was no indication online of how this could be accomodated so we ended up paying the tax. Also, we'd bought tickets for 4 other group members who ended up not being able to go because they didn't feel well, I emailed (on Monday) to find out if we could get a refund (our visit was Tuesday), but never received a response (it's now Friday). It was within 24 hours of our visit, but a previous email mentioned that refunds are possible due to "unforseen circumstances," so I thought I'd give it a chance.
The elevator was broken when we were there, so the museum was not handicap accessible. I don't know if the elevator is usually out of order or if this was just a rare event.
There is a gift shop next to the ticket desk on the 1st floor.
Apparently the building used to be a school.
There are a couple of picnic tables out front that you can eat at. There's no food or drinks allowed inside the museum. You also cannot bring backpacks in.

This museum is amazing. My kids loved it. So did my wife and I. We spent two or three hours there but could have spent a couple more. What a gem of a museum.

An amazing museum with some amazing history. If you have any interest in mining and its history this is the place for you. The had three rooms dedicated to hall of fame people who I influenced the industry. I've added a picture of the list. But the plaques are truly great.

Had an absolute blast exploring the museum with my children. Miss Teresa was such a wonderful person to be greeted by upon entry. Military discount offered for vets and active duty personnel. So much great history and exhibits.
Beaver Creek Resort is a sizable ski destination offering multiple mountains, three terrain parks, lodging accommodations, cross-country trails, and various events. The resort boasts exceptional infrastructure with convenient parking and shuttle services, lift ticket windows, comfortable seating areas with fireplaces. Visitors appreciate the helpful and friendly staff who provide information and directions both in the village and on the mountain.
We skied in mid Jan 2022. This resort has a very unique feature. Some of green runs are in top of mountain, which is rare case. It is family oriented resort. The variety of terrain is wide, from beginners to expert level. Ski shuttle service is prompt. One thing to keep in mind is the route of the ski bus is one way loop. Restaurants in the village are excellent or good. And also dinings around Avon are good too.

Super family-oriented. Great mountain with terrain for all skill levels.
McCoy park is a beginner bowl area with some of the best views I’ve ever seen. Normally beginners are stuck at the bottom of the mountain. Not here.
Ice cream parlors and candy cabins at the top of ski lifts. Employees are all super friendly and always happy to help.
The village is cute with lots of shops restaurants and an ice rink in the middle.
All in all beaver creek is my favorite resort. Keep up the incredible work.

Great mountain layout, awesome snow, cookies at the end of the day, moguls, lounging chairs, nice pitch and wide runs for serious carving, cool trails through the woods for the kids (aka me), moguls, what more could I want? I love this place and shall be back for sure!

So many reasons to give Beaver Creek 5 stars:
Outstanding resort infrastructure - parking & shuttles, lift ticket windows, benches, comfortable chairs & fireplaces
Friendly staff offering information & directions, in the village and on the mountain
Great lifts plus a gondola, extremely conscientious lift operators.
Phenomenal trails, terrain, variety and conditions.
Every afternoon at 3 PM - delicious chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven

RIP OFF! It's a nice place to ski/snowboard. Not much different than Vail,Winter park, etc. They rip you off for the lift tickets. Before our trip, I looked up prices for lift tickets. Their website said a single day adult lift ticket was around $137. A couple of weeks later, we arrive to buy lift tickets (travel from out of state), and the price doubled to around $260 per person! The website didn't say anything about doubling the price for any reason. What they did should be illegal. Bait and switch. SCAM! Then they want all your personal information just to buy a lift ticket. Why?! Do they sell your info? No disclaimer on what they do with your info.

This is a world class ski resort that is less crowded and easier to navigate than it's sister resort Vail. There is a good variety of terrain and all high speed lifts to get up and around the mountains. Each area is more or less self contained and it's pretty easy to get from one mountain to another. The employees are nice and helpful. On mountain dining was fairly expensive, but the food was very good. Buy your Epic Pass early to save money.

Great mountain for beginners. They have 3 separate beginner areas (Haymeadow, Red Buffalo Park, and McCoy Park). McCoy is AWESOME, it's a bowl with lots of varied terrain and you can really make each run your own -even as a beginner).
And of course, the village is super cute (though overpriced).

One of my favorite mountains!!! If you stay until the end of the day they bring out trays of chocolate chips cookies to give away. It’s east to get around on this mountain for snowboarders with not too many cat tracks you need to skate on. I always think this mountain doesn’t get as crowded as Vail and Breck. Nice village center with a lot of shops. Caught some fresh snow great day! They have free parking with shuttle buses but I think it’s worth it to park at Ford Hall Garage. It’s so close to the Centennial Express lift.

I ❤️ my experience in Beaver Creek.
This was my first time skiing ⛷️ there.
I found parking was easy and their free shuttle to the village was quick, efficient, and easy. It drops you off right in front of the covered bridge. And it's a 3-minute walk to the escalators that take you to the lifts.
I found Beaver Creek easy to navigate and the escalators magnificent to take you up and down from the base of the mountain.

Simply the best. Beyond beautiful. Never seems crowded. Friendly. Superb restaurants.

One of our favorite ski resorts! It’s quieter and less crowded than Vail, and there’s a ton of terrain variability to keep beginners and experts alike occupied

Open secret.
They still do the free chocolate cookies everyday at 3
Amazing for beginners and experts alike.
Wonderful treed areas as well

Best ski resort for convenience, ease of access, luxury, and short lift lines. Sure it’s not a back country skiers paradise, but it is big, and well groomed even in times of limited snowfall. The luxury and level of convenience makes Deer Valley look like Winter Park
Jacob Simon — Google review
Beaver Creek wants to pretend like they're this amazing, supportive family destination. We've been coming here every year for almost a decade, and it gets worse and worse every single year.
BC - especially early season - does not really care about families. In fact, I think the most straightforward way to put it is to say that all BC cares about is money. When you show up as an adult, the assumption is that you have money that they can squeeze out of you. When you show up with kids, they assume that means they'll get even more money. Example: BC has a 'beginner' lift pass that only works in the bunny slope area. It used to be $30 a day, which is pretty reasonable. It's now climbed up to $52/day, for no reason at all. Also, other resorts will allow use of carpet lifts for free, but BC wants a lift pass to use them. Gotta pay money to learn to ski/board! If you want to get your kids lessons, you're looking at some of the most expensive rates in the country. Crazy idea: kids ski lessons should be dirt cheap because if you get children into the hobby, they grow up to be people who will spend money doing it. My kids missed out getting lessons because we didn't want to drop $450/day on it. Will they grow up to be adults who like to ski? Who knows...
Additionally, you need to know that at Beaver Creek, you are not a priority to them unless it's financially beneficial for them. Early season skiers and boarders are an afterthought when Birds of Prey race is looming... what? Your kids want beginner terrain? Too bad, we need to groom that race course!
The workers here are superstars. They all have incredible attitudes and are as helpful as can be, given the employer. BC doesn't seem to treat them very well but whenever we needed help the rank and file were happy to help us out.
As far as the terrain and mountain conditions, this is a fantastic resort. There's something for everyone here, the lift lines are usually very reasonable on any given day, and there's a lot of mountain to explore. Plenty of side hits, features, glades, moguls, etc. It's a great setup. The "Chondola" (chair lift with a gondola every 6th spot) is a fantastic feature for people who don't like sitting exposed to the weather for 5+ minute climbs up the mountain or for kids. The snow here is luxurious most of the time, except very early season when it tends to be sparse (mostly because they refuse to open up anything until after Birds of Prey race). And the ski patrol/safety patrol are generally pretty nice and helpful.

Wonderful and cozy place in the beautiful mountains. Friendly staff, the rooms are very comfortable and you will have a great view!. Also has a pool, hot spring, steam room and good gym!

First time here was right after 10" fresh snow. First run was Peregrine (in video) and no one had touched it yet. It was like bouncing on pillows the whole way down. Best run of my life. I immediately quit snowboarding after that because nothing could beat that. Also I didn't really care about the cookies until a literal chef just handed me one as I was walking back exhausted from the day.

We had an absolutely stellar time this past Saturday. The guides were incredible (wish I could remember their names). They explained everything so well and we always felt safe and well taken care of. Every line was so much fun and the views were gorgeous.
It was also really nice to have a winery right next door where we could enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
I definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the area.

Had an incredible time with Jimmy and Weston at Zip Adventures. Reef took some incredible pictures for our entire family to enjoy as well. The staff was well trained, had great senses of humor, took their time with each person in our group, and really made it an unforgettable adventure. Drinks and snacks were a great touch as well. The views on the zip lines are amazing, and the free fall bungee drop was an added thrill adventure we all enjoyed. This really is a not-to-be-missed activity when in the area!

We had an amazing time! We were so nervous and the entire team made us feel very comfortable. Our tour guides Matt and Jimmy were sooo much fun! They made the entire experience unforgettable. Highly recommend it for groups. They also have a family own winery that was the cherry on top of our group activity. Incredible service.

While I am sure the zip lining is great, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. While I do not doubt that the weather was fine at 4pm in Wolcot, the company has failed to understand repeatedly that the hail & rain in between our location and the site made it impossible for us to get there by 3:30. We were very excited for the experience, but were not willing to risk our safety to get there. Please see video below for reference.

Parents and teen did first ever zip lining coming from a flatland/prairie area of Tx and had a phenomenal experience. I am absolutely, genuinely terrified of heights and the best thing they said was that I would never experience the stomach drop sensation along the regular lines, and they were correct. I went in tandem to get my courage up the first two lines. Jimmy from NY and Nick from Chicago were the guides, and unlike many adventure experiences in mountain towns we have tried where you have to wonder how trained and experienced the guides were, they were extremely competent and professional, taking all safety measures very seriously and repeating them often. As a bonus, they were also friendly, funny and made the experience wholly enjoyable. I did not catch the name of the woman running the reservations and sign-in/store, but she was also incredibly helpful, patient and encouraging of any questions or concerns. Could not recommend this excursion, company or team more highly.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE - Even for little ones!
I brought my two little ones (ages 3 and 4) and they were scared at first, but Mattie at the front desk was so sweet, and the guides did an amazing job of making them feel comfortable, and by the time they made it across the first zip line they couldn't wait to do it again and again! By the third zip line they were both going hands-free! Our guides, James and Nick, were INCREDIBLE. They were accommodating to our young ones in a sincere customer-oriented way, and kept us laughing the whole time. They truly went above and beyond and made it a memorable experience. The kids have asked at least two dozen times to come again! We will be back! :)

The John Denver Sanctuary is a landscaped retreat located alongside the Roaring Fork River in Aspen. This park pays homage to the music icon John Denver, featuring lush grass, perennial flowers and engraved rocks with his lyrics etched on them. Visitors can take time to reflect on their experiences in Aspen and what the Rocky Mountains mean to them. The park boasts stunning gardens, water features such as ponds and streams, creating a serene atmosphere for all who visit.
What lyrics describe the ineluctable glory of the Rocky Mountains better than John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High"? I assume that's why Aspen's Parks and Open Spaces department decided to create the John Denver Sanctuary.
(In case you forget the lyrics, they are engraved on a large boulder.)
Some of John Denver's other songs are also engraved on stones as is the wisdom of Carl Sagan.
The Sanctuary sits between the gloriously green Rio Grande Park and the mighty Roaring Fork River (which does indeed roar.)
The sanctuary part is a grassy area with stones arranged in a semi-circle amphitheater style. It's the perfect place to sit and contemplate. Be still and you can hear the rush of the river mix with the happy chirping of birds. Somehow those Colorado skies are a sparkling azure blue.
I like to walk on the paved path riverside. It gently meanders along the river banks. Beautiful flowers add vivid splashes of color.
Whenever life becomes a battlefield, I like to along the river in the Sanctuary. Somehow the river washes away the anger and I feel ready to take the @#$%!
A must if you show up in Aspen.

Although small, I'd say this park is worth a visit while in Aspen. It is a vfery serene and inspiring park. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as a family sing along of Annie's Song and Sunshine on my Shoulders. The views of the river and the mountains are spectacular. There is a few street parking spaces, but there's also a public parking garage.

I come and walk through here everytime I visit Aspen.
In my opinion Aspen and this sanctuary are the most beautiful places on Earth.
If you come in the summer months, the trees will be green and the colors of the flowers really pop.
If you come in the fall, you'll see all the Aspen trees in shades of gold, orange and there's vibrant reds as well mixed with the greens of the pines.
The spring will have the trees blooming.
Words could never do this place justice. Take a look at online pictures to see a glimpse of what you can experience.

How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high.
He walks in quiet solitude, the forest and the streams.
Seeking grace in every step he takes.
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake.
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun.
It was very hot and that was the end.
Kermit was very upset.

This is a wonderful tribute. The path is a little rugged for those with mobility issues. It is located beside the Roaring Fork River on the SE side of Aspen. The giant bolers with John's lyrics are easily found and places provide for quiet contemplation.

One of the most well-known ski resorts in the world, Aspen Mountain is known for its big bumps and steep grade. With 64 miles of trails and no green runs, this resort is geared more towards intermediate to expert skiers and riders. The resort has four mountains, each with something different for everyone.
Aspen is one of my favorite places to ski, because of the abundance of snow and challenging terrain. Some of the best powder I have ever skied in. The snow is incredible. Only downside is the scarcity of real ski in-ski out accommodations. I recommend the Shadow Mountain condos which are truly slope side. You can ski up to the condos, within 10 feet of the door.

it's fun to ski Aspen on a day trip, or stay 45 min away in Glenwood Springs. Doable even if you aren't a millionaire. The scenery is amazing, and not just the nature, pay attention and you might see a Kardashian. The fashion in town is something you don't see every day... Lots of fur and high fashion outfits just walking down the street. My last trip was 2022, and before that 30+ years ago when I was a kid, it's still a bizarre place, $2000 a night hotel rooms, 20+ million dollar homes. The biggest changes from 30 years ago is the traffic in town is worse, but the road to Aspen is safer and much improved. Parking can be a struggle, but we splurged and parked for 4 hours $22 bucks but right at the base of the gondola. The skiing is great and the Gondola gives you like 3500 feet of vertical in 13 min. Good hard expert Aspen glades. And I must say the instructors I saw seemed to be some of the most technically good instructors I've seen in the United States. Surprisingly, food at the mid mountain lodge we visited was less expensive than other big resorts. There are 3 other mountains in town, but we only skied Aspen, next time I'll try Highlands.

Aspen Mountain is my absolute favorite place to ski. I've skied at most of the premier resorts in the United States and Aspen offers the best overall experience. The snow, the skill variety of the runs, the exceptional quality of the facilities and equipment, the personality of the locals, the charm of the City, the choices and quality of the restaurants, and the class of the shopping taken together is unrivaled. One of the coolest things about Aspen is the instant and spontaneous relationships that form when you're on the Mountain or around town. Aspen is a special place.

Yeah, they don't want you here, so they won't explain parking, or how the mountain works. They'll say there's no beginner terrain but several blues would be greens elsewhere. You'll see people wearing look at me apparel and aggressive skiing and gangs of young people being jerks. The mountain itself is fine, but I'll never go back. No hosts, no safety folks, so no repercussions for jerks who blast through multiple SLOW signs and nearly collide with the lift maze. Oh, and don't expect the lifties to say anything about dangerous behavior or for them to group anyone up...

The Maroon Bells Scenic Area is home to iconic mountain peaks that rise over 14,000 feet and are known for their vivid colors caused by mineral streaking. There is a shuttle bus available to access the scenic viewing area. Despite the less than ideal late afternoon light for photos, it is still a breathtaking sight and visitors can enjoy spending time at beautiful Maroon Lake nearby. The twin peaks are truly majestic and should not be missed when visiting the area.
This place is EXQUISITE, well worth the drive. Although we had no reservations- the system was down - you will love the road leading up to it.
There will be thousands of opportunities to take pictures, when you are able to pull to the side.
Please be extra careful with cyclist.
Open your windows, slow down and enjoyed the hand of the L-rd!

The beauty of this place cannot be overstated. If you have the chance to go, do it! Rugged mountains, babbling streams, fields of wild flowers, turquoise blue lakes...all within view of the parking lot. If you don't have it in you for a hike, stroll around Maroon Lake, located 5 minutes from the parking lot. There are even a couple benches along the path if you want to sit back and take it in. If you're looking for a short, but rewarding hike, go to Crater Lake (about 3.5 miles round trip).
We hiked from the parking lot, past crater lake, and up to buckskin pass. The apple watch gave a round trip distance of 10.5 miles (with some side diversions). Total hike time was about 4.5 hour with stops for snacks and lunch in the pass. We passed a handful of other people, but it never felt overcrowded considering it was a Sunday (though rain was in the forecast).
The shuttle service from the Highlands was hassle-free. We took the 8am shuttle to avoid the afternoon rain. They recommend getting there 45 minutes early, but I think 15 would suffice. We sat around for a while waiting to board. At the drop off point there are bathrooms and a covered sitting area for convenience.

Maroon Bells was a bucket list achievement for me. I always saw pictures and videos of this beautiful area in the summer. However, winter is equally beautiful and you can ice skate ⛸️ on the lake when its frozen!
Absolutely beautiful and wonderful experience and hike. Can you spot the rock formation of the howling coyote between the two peaks?
The views at Maroon Bells are stunning and breathtaking anytime of year. In the summer and fall, it is most popular and requires a pass and shuttle ride. For a short time in the winter, it is FREE and doesn't require reservations but it is first come first serve.

The Maroon Peaks were an amazing site from the lake, and the parking area was surrounded by several other beautiful and unique peaks. Rain and snow the night prior left the sky cloudy, the ground wet, and the air cold so I would definitely like to come back to see everything in the other seasons.
You are supposed to make parking reservations ($10) or included with an Annual parks pass and supposedly arrive between midnight and 8am. However, the park ranger station didn’t seem to open up until ~7:30 - ~8am.
Despite the tickets being almost sold out when I made reservations (Back in May!) there were only a handful of other people there before we left. There were people coming in after 8am when we were leaving. This may be because of how late in the season we came and the rangers may be there earlier and be more strict during warmer months when they expect to have more visitors.
Phoenix Hiraeth — Google review
So I booked a parking reservation to the Maroon Bells months in advance and as I got closer to the date we realized that you need to be parked there before 8 am to have driving access to the park. That unfortunately wasn't going to be possible for us this trip. Out of pure coincidence, instead of visiting Maroon Bells, we ended up hiking up to the Elk Camp Summit the day of our reservation and much to my surprise we got the stunning views of the Bells away! What a great thing to keep in mind if you don't have time to make it over to the Maroon Bells. You can just take the Elk Camp lift or hike up to the Elk Camp summit at Snowmass and get the amazing views. Just make sure to bring a camera that has a nice zoom feature.

I loved this place! There weren't many people when my family and I went, and the hiking trails were perfect. I would recommend coming here to anyone. My favorite part was the perfect length hiking trail, we saw so many deer, and my husband loved bird watching. Along the hike, there are streams and beautiful ponds of water. Im definitely coming back again.

Stunning!!
This beautiful piece of land is heavenly. And the fall colors add to the beauty.
You need bus service reservations to visit the Maroon bells, they do allow people without reservations to board the bus only after the reserved seats are occupied. I visited on a Sunday morning without reservation, but still was able to board the bus quickly.
You can bike to the area but it’s a bit far.

Heaven is the only right word. This place is so beautiful and awesome especially during the fall. Try to reserve your spot otherwise you have to get entry during morning hours between 6AM to 8Am. Campsites are excellent and you can see lots of stars and have a great time here. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Stunning; a must-see! This was one of our favorite experiences on the trip out to Colorado. With its beautiful lake and trails, we enjoyed it tremendously. The only thing was the flies; there were so many of them! It was insane how many there were. Some of these insects also bite.
Other than those bugs, the view of the practically rusting mountains will stay with me forever. The pictures you are able to get and the life you see are some of the best in the parks around. Overall, I absolutely recommend this place and the trails it offers. Bring a camera!
8/10

Standing at the heart of the Maroon Bells, Colorado's iconic twin peaks, I found myself immersed in a world of natural wonder that exceeded all expectations. The early morning air was crisp and clean, and the scent of pine trees surrounded me as I gazed upon the mirrored perfection of Maroon Lake. The water's surface was so still that it seemed like a flawless reflection of the towering, snow-capped Maroon Peaks above.
As I embarked on a serene hike along the Crater Lake Trail, the vibrant aspen leaves painted the landscape with shades of gold and crimson, a breathtaking autumn tapestry. The trail wound through groves of quaking aspens and fragrant evergreen forests, offering a symphony of nature's sounds – the rustling of leaves, the gentle babble of streams, and the occasional chirping of birds.
The experience of Maroon Bells, Colorado, was a reminder of the Earth's incredible beauty and its ability to inspire profound awe. It was a moment of perfect stillness, natural splendor, and a deep connection to the great outdoors, etching an indelible memory of serenity and wonder into my soul.

Wow, the Four Pass Loop in Colorado is an epic adventure! Went for a 3-day hike and it's no joke, but the views are totally worth it. Each pass felt like a huge accomplishment, with awesome panoramas at the top that make you forget about the grueling uphill.
Day 1 was the toughest uphill, going up buckskin pass. The altitude can hit you, so don't underestimate it. Camped at snowmass lake, totally beautiful, but somewhat crowded.
Day 2 was the biggest downhill challenge: I went up and over trail rider pass, and the downhill was Exhausting but exhilarating! Wildflowers were in bloom and the views were picture-perfect. You really feel like you're walking on top of the world.
Day 3 I covered the final two passes, Frigid Air and West Maroon.
The longest of the three days, but the climbs steep, but not as long. I made it back down safe and sound, though, with a sense of accomplishment that's hard to describe.
If you're looking for a hike that challenges you but gives back tenfold in awe-inspiring scenery, this is it. Just make sure you're prepared—physically and gear-wise. This trail doesn't mess around!

The area is really beautiful! It’s a great opportunity to see wildlife and enjoy the scenic views all around. In my opinion, it’s slightly overrated. Colorado is full of amazing scenery and this site just seemed okay in comparison to everything Colorado has to offer.
