Mount Tarumae is an active volcano located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, known for its stunning views and popular hiking trail. The hike takes approximately one hour to reach the peak from the parking lot, with options for descent. Adequate water supply is essential as there are no refill stations along the way. Toilets are available at the parking area only. It's a great spot for a short hike, but visitors should wear proper hiking shoes due to slippery paths.
Amazing and rewarding views at the summit. Eerily quiet when you’re up that high, almost like you’re on Mars (in a cool way). The first part of the hike is mainly stair master in the forest but then it opens up to hiking up the mountain, which is all incline basically. Other hikers are friendly. Free parking lot.

A relatively easy 30-40 minute hike from the parking lot to the top. Road to the station parking lot is quite a bad gravel one, but still doable on a motorcycle.

I'm reviewing one star for attention. You will see a great view and the hiking route at the top of the mountain!!
However, PLEASE RE-CONSIDER if you have an injury on your knees. My wife found this mountain as a good place for beginners who looking for a safe hiking route, but all my family started to climb the mountain from a parking lot. and I found a warning sign that a bear may show up and the last time people saw it was FEB in 2023! Plus some stairs are too high! (height of your thighs or waist)
They are not for elders who have issues with knees and chubby people. This level was almost climbing not hiking! Two of the 5 in my family members gave up in the middle of the mountain.
It would take a little bit more than one hour to get to the top if you don't stop climbing.
If you or your groups want to see just the view easily, I recommend Mountain Usu or Mountain Tenguyama in Otaru. There is a cable car(ropeway) so you can go to the top within 10mins. Mt Usu has a hiking route on the top so the group can separate and do whichever people want( watching the views or hiking). Mountain Tenguyama also has a bear sign. so It is just for viewing.
JunSoo Kim — Google review
Lovely hike, not challenging at all. The views were really pretty! Definitely recommend!
Alexander Hagseth — Google review
We've been here in mid-september 2017. The climb is relatively short and not that hard. Once you leave the forest you can see the amazing view of lake Shikotsu and the ocean. The summit was very windy but the view of the huge lava dome was absolutely stunning and even scary.
Drive carefully in the long unpaved road that reaches the parking lot. Allocate 3-4 hours for the trip, including spending time at the summit and walking around the rim.
Eyal Gur — Google review
A lovely hike from the parking lot up to the mountain. It takes roughly an hour to get up from the parking lot and you have several options to get back. From the top you get a stunning view. Bring enough water as there is no chance to get some from parking to the top. Toilets are available at the parking lot so better use them before you start your hike.
Stefan Hofer — Google review
Very easy to climb from the car park. Car park gets full in summer time in the weekend. So better be there earlier morning.
Peak of East was very windy, you will need a jacket.
Good things about Tarumae is There will be beautiful view of Lake Shiretoko all the way to the top.
After exercise, recommendation is hot spring to Shiretoko and Marukoma. 1000jpy each but close for visitors by 15:00.
shinano m — Google review
Great short hike spot! We spent about 2.5hours for up and down including taking a rest few times on the way and top of the mountain. The parking area is quite limited so recommend to go early morning especially if you are going on the weekend. The path is very slippery so recommend to wear proper hike shoes.
Momoko Tachiyama — Google review
Awesome place!! The view is absolutely spectacular throughout the hike, once you get out of the forest.
The visibility of the lava dome (and the horizon, shikotsu lake, etc) may vary, so check the weather! Please note it is super windy up there!
Hiking shoes are not a must, but you definitely can't go via sandals or sliders. Wear a pair of decent sneakers at the least.
I wore regular tennis shoes, and my mother in her 60s hiked in her bare feet almost all the way. We took our time going up, and it took us 2hrs in total -- from the seventh station trail head parking lot to the top where the path splits in two ways (we didn't go further), and back down.
NOTE***There is one section of the trail covered with small basalt rocks, which make the trail very very slippery and difficult to gain solid footing -- especially on the way down.
I wished I had brought a set of hiking poles for support.
Please be careful!! And have fun!!!
The Lake Shikotsuko Visitor Center is a compact and modern facility that showcases the history and wildlife of Lake Shikotsuko through interactive exhibits. The center's design blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, providing an aesthetically pleasing experience for visitors. Inside, guests can learn about how the lake was formed by volcanic eruptions in the area. Admission is free to enter, and translations are available in English, Chinese, and Korean.
Wonderful. Everything a visitor centre should be. It was informative, well structured, clean and very aesthetically pleasing - clearly designed to blend with its natural surroundings. They also had a really nice free space/charging area that I used for a couple of hours to get some work done. Can't complain about the view!

Very well done and well worth a visit. Makes extensive use of natural materials and renewable energy and the multilingual exhibits are informative about the local geology, flora and fauna. A lot of interactivity and use of tech like VR and holograms, plus plenty of models and even some live fish, make it great for kids. Highly recommended.

We've accidentally got on Ice festival there, was very beautiful for only 500yen. Recommend to come with kids or for couples, very fun and romantic. Lake is also breathtaking! Many food shops and restaurants around. For drivers there is HUGE free parking lot. My friend recommended marshmallow to try inside of the ice village.

There are showcases of the attractions nearby in the different seasons.
An area showing the animals and plants in this area as well.
There is also an aquarium with fishes from the lake

It has a great view and scenery of Shikotsu lake. However it is harsh during winter as it's windy and cold and most of the hiking path are closed. Good to go during spring, summer or autumn

Very nice visitor centre, many useful information including tourist guide, natural related, history of Lake Shikotsu etc.
You can temporarily keep your luggages here, staff is super friendly and helpful, communicate well in English and actively show me how to walk to the hotel that I need to go. Stamps and postcards can be bought in counter too.

Big established park with various activities, shops and restaurants. Visitor centre was big with different educational materials and exhibition.
Parking was ¥500 per day collected at entry. Ample lots available.
I didn't stay long but looked like one could spend more time here, to camp or hike.

Very recommended, did the short hiking trail up the to the observation and bird hut. Fun for the kids. There are a lot of options to eat although some restaurants were pre booked for school trips.

I went on a weekend in April, and it wasn't very busy. The visitor centre was great, very informative. There's quite a few hotels there, water activities are available, there's quite a few restaurants in the area, I found it nice and peaceful ✌️ and enjoyed walking around and taking photos of snow ❄️ capped mountains with reflections on the lake.

Nicely built nature center on the shores of Lake Shikotsuko. You can learn all about the surrounding landscape and nature! Worth a visit especially with the kids.
Miha Grilj — Google review
Relaxing culture center with the best view of lake shikotsuko (also great reading area) where all the information about the wildlife around there are shown in great detail. Interactive way of learning about things differently (pull out drawer for more information, a live insect in a box with details next to it). They have a history in lake shikotsuko in 5 different languages in the middle of the center. On the entrance, there are friendly staff greeting you at a counter that serves as both an information ℹ️ area and a souvenir shop cashier (yes you are greeted by souvenirs upon entering the centre but the entrance is free!)

Susukino Station is the vibrant entertainment and nightlife district of Sapporo, known for its bustling streets filled with bars, restaurants, cafes, and even pachinko shops. With over 4,000 establishments, it is one of Japan's major entertainment hubs. The area offers a variety of dining options including Sapporo ramen at the famous Ramen Yokocho. Historically a red-light district, Susukino still retains some elements of its past.
Stay at Mercure Sapporo Hotel. It located near Susukino Station. The entertainment area have so many bars, restaurants with all night opened, clubs. The station has both subway and tram/ street car ( loop line). At the station, the passengers can see real-time of all trams locations. In Denmark, I don’t think we have same kind of display locations of the tram at real time yet. But the expected time arrival of each bus. Here you have very great overview. Long life technology. It is very convenient area with very great tram form 2016. No doubt why it wins the great design . We also lucky to take the tram on Sunday. The tram was for free that day. Very good way to motivating people to go out😊.

the air was so Clean even though, it was deep city and there were so many vehicles on the road !

i am sure our country's air cannot be like that!

It is located on the Namboku Line and Sapporo Streetcar, the heart of Sapporo’s ‘business’ district. Susukino, in which are concentrated many restaurants, bars, hotels, and adult-entertainment establishments is the location the largest red-light district north of Japan along with Kabukicho Tokyo and Nakasu Fukuoka. Literally Susukino means zebra grass field. But some theories are developed that Susukino is named after Tatsuyuki Usui, a supervisor in the construction of the red-light district in Hokkaido’s capital city. Ok, enough for the literature study of this name.

The Sapporo Clock Tower, also known as the Clock Tower, is a historic wooden building that has become an iconic sightseeing spot in Hokkaido. Originally completed in 1878 as the Former Sapporo Agricultural College Drill Hall, it now houses a museum showcasing the history of Sapporo. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property, this building has close ties to Hokkaido University and is used for academic events.
I went to the Sapporo Clock Tower with my toddler, and roamed around reading the history of Sapporo and this building while she slept. All of the exhibits have English as well, and is quite interesting to read! You can access the second floor by use of a priority elevator if you have a stroller or are in a wheelchair - just ask one of the staff to help you out. The volunteers there are also up for a chat if there’s something more you want to know about. A great little side journey for your afternoon!

A nice old clock tower with a cheap museum to walk through, very informative of the history of Sapporo and of the actual mechanization that keeps the clock ticking 140 years later. A tour guide that spoke English stopped and helped explain exhibits as we walked at our own pace with him. Great experience.

Today marks the beginning of my adventure in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, on January 7, 2024. The charming winter scenery creates a welcoming atmosphere, transforming it into a true wonderland in this iconic Sapporo Clock Tower. The snow enhances the beauty of the surroundings, making it an extraordinary experience. Even during other seasons like summer, autumn, or spring, Sapporo has its unique charm. Although it may seem ordinary at first glance, being here in the perfect winter season earns it a top rating in my book.
Entrance fee of 200 yen if you want to see around inside the building and get to know its history.

A Sapporo landmark. The building now houses a museum and a small souvenir shop. The first floor narrates the earlier years of the city, while the second floor is an open hall with exhibits about the building's construction and restoration, the clock's mechanism, and some video presentations. The staffs are very helpful and friendly.

It’s one of the oldest building in Sapporo during the Hokkaido frontier (1860’s). People say it is anticlimactic but it is a interesting building if you get in and learn the history of Hokkaido. During the frontier, a lot of western scientists and engineers are invited to accelerate the development and you will feel something similar to American western frontier.

So glad we took the time to visit this place. We learned so much about the history of Hokkaido from a volunteer tour person at the museum. I had no idea the history that they had with Americans who came there to help them learn agriculture. The clock that was brought there by ship from America is a MOST see and hear all about how it was designed and works. It was fascinating!!

Before visiting the clock tower,
It is recommended to visit the beer museum.
Nice place to visit especially if you are in the area, not expensive either.
There is an accessible elevator to the upper floor.

In spite of the larger, more modern buildings that surround it, the Sapporo Clock Tower remains an iconic location worth visiting on any trip to Sapporo. The first time I visited, it was in May of 2018 and too late in the day to go inside. The second time I visited was in the winter of 2019, and I was able to see the interior. The Tower houses many displays and artifacts detailing the history of Sapporo, doubling in a way as a history museum. I remember only spending maybe a half hour inside browsing before moving on to other sites to visit. I do not remember if there was a fee to enter, but if there was it could not have been more than 500 yen.

Interesting for history as it is one of the most iconic landmarks of the Sapporo. Built in 1878 designed by American architect William Wheeler and is a blend of Victorian and Romanesque architectural styles. It stands at a height of 41.4 meters with a distinctive red brick exterior. It is a reminder of Sapporo's early days as a frontier town.

It is easily missed unless you look for it. I didn't go in but did wait for the clock to strike the hour to hear it chime.
It is a "historical " piece but not grand in anyway. It is a clock, that is on time.

The Sapporo TV Tower, a famous landmark built in the 1950s, stands at 147.3 meters tall at the end of Odori Park in Sapporo City. Its observation deck, situated 90 meters above ground level, provides stunning panoramic views of the city and beyond. Visitors can enjoy iconic night views of Odori Park and experience thrilling transparent glass panels that slope down to their feet.
Well, nothing to say, it is one of the must go spot in Sapporo. I recommend you come on the night or snow season, more things can see. However, this tower not enough tall. Last, they have the package ticket with the clock tower, can have 100 yen discount if you buy both ticket together.

Great views of the city from any season and anytime during the day or evening. The cost is ¥1,000 per adult - purchase the tickets on the 3rd floor. You’ll take a 2nd elevator to the observation deck.

Unfortunately, very cloudy during my visit, so I was not able to see the surrounding mountains and scenery. In the end of the day, this is like any cities, observation, tower and kind of reminds me of Seattle. What I enjoyed was seeing all the Japanese families visiting. Arrived on January 7, 2024, and experienced the exhilaration of heavy snowfall while walking from our hotel. Upon arrival, instead of heading up to the observation deck of the tower, we opted to relish the outdoor scenery. The falling snow created a picturesque scene, adorning bare trees with a dramatic layer of snow.
This location becomes exceptionally beautiful during the peak of winter. It's crucial to stay informed about heavy snowfall in different parts of Japan. With our 21-day JR pass, we had the flexibility to adjust our itinerary based on real-time observations and updates from the Japanese government. Fortuitously, we timed our visit to Hokkaido perfectly during its peak winter season.

I think both adults and children can enjoy the view from the top of this tower. The height is about 140m, some people can run up to the top in 2 min by their steps.
I like the old-fashioned see-through elevators (lifts) . It’s quite rare.
There is also a plaza on the 3rd floor where you can see the history of the sapporo TV tower and its unique characters.

Not only it’s a historic place but also the best place to take a great shot of the Odori park from the top. I didn’t go to the top observation deck ( paid ticket needed) but it’s still a good view from the 3rd floor. Must visited place in Sapporo.

Great place to visit while in Sapporo. We were quite lucky to witness the sunset yesterday while the tower is not crowded.

Having traveled around Japan a fair bit and making it a point to go up the towers whenever we have a chance, this one was nothing super special. It was an older style elevator, gift shop and area. The top of the tower was pretty cool and had great views of Sapporo (that's what you should expect from a Japan tower!). Nothing disappointing, but nothing super special about this one. Our rainy June day provided for only mediocre views. The restaurants in the lobby/underground area were busy the day we came, but outside of randomly picking a noodle shop, there was a great sushi place we were very satisfied to visit. Make sure you check the coin machines, at the time of our visit in June 2023, they had a Stitch version, which was my unique favorite.

Sapporo TV Tower is a famous attraction located in the east side of Odori Park. It looks like a smaller version of Tokyo Tower and is very eye-catching. The observation deck reception is located on the 3rd floor, where you can also find their souvenir shop. Although the observation deck is not large, the view is beautiful, especially at night. I highly recommend visiting the tower at night to enjoy the stunning view of the city lights.

Good place to get a wonderful view of Sapporo, and especially of Odori park. Entry is only ¥1000, which is pretty reasonable, and there was no line when I went on a weekday during the Snow Festival.
It gets cramped, especially around sunset. The gift shop located here doesn't help. Surely the one at the bottom of the elevator is sufficient?

I arrived within an hour of the tower opening. There was no line for tickets or the lift to the top of the tower. It never got crowded or congested at the top as well. Lots of great views and plenty of souvenir shopping to be had at the tower. Definitely worth a visit!

The best place to get 360 degree, unblocked view of Sapporo. 1,000yen to get up there. Right off Odori train station (exit 27).
Be sure to check the sunset timing and catch the sunset from the tower. You will also get to take photos of the city in both daylight and night. The Odori Park lights up beautifully at night.

We visited on a sat afternoon. Did not pre purchase tickets and only purchased the ticket on the spot. The entrance is at lvl1 and you can take a lift to lvl 3 where the ticket counter is. We purchased 2 adults tickets and it's free entry for our kids (both 5 years and below). Once you purchase the tickets, its recommended to go to the toilet first as there are no toilets at the top where the observatory is. Passing thru the ticket counter, you will come to the lift lobby to take the lifts to the top of the observation deck. The lift has transparent glass walls on all 4 sides so it allows you to view through as the lift goes all the way up (takes around 60s). You will get to observe the internal structure of the tower as well as look through down to where the city and other sights are. Once at the top, you will come to a small observation deck with glass windows to allow you to observe the scenery beyond. All around, you will see tables set up to display the souvenirs for purchase. One has to mind your head as you walk about the small observation deck as the metal structures and beams are all around. We were there around 12pm, so taking pictures was a challenge as it was too bright and sunny outside. Maybe it would be nicer probably around sunset time? We did not spent more than 30mins up at the observation deck as there was nothing much to see actually.
A C — Google review
We visited the tower at sunset in order to see the view both in daylight and at night. It costs JPY1000 to go up 90.38m to the observation deck, where we can get 360 degrees view all around Sapporo. Take the lift to 3F, buy ticket, and take another lift up to the top. The sun sets behind the mountain range to the west. The observation deck also sells many souvenirs at a reasonable price, comparable to those in other shops. OK to visit if you have time to kill or if getting a high vantage point of view is a priority, otherwise you don't lose much (in fact save enough for a ramen) not going up the tower.

The observation deck offers diverse perspectives of the city, including a close-up night view of central Sapporo and various townscapes filled with nature.
Feb. 6th, 2024: This may not be the tallest viewpoint in Japan, but it was my favourite so far. So nice, I visited it twice! Grab a seat, a nice beverage or snack from the cafe located on the same floor, and take in the beauty that is Sapporo.
Whether you seek a cityscape, mountains, or a sense of wonder being up in the clouds presents, this place has it all.
Great for Timelapse capturing as well, but of course, a simple placing of your phone or camera pressed up against the window is all you would be permitted to do. One person did have a tripod and rig set up, bet that was a sweet video, but the staff kindly asked him to take it down, which is fair; it was taking up a bit of space.
I can’t speak for the women’s bathroom, but if you are a man and natural is calling in on line 1, have a go at a urinal with a view. Watch the world go by as you do your business. If you are shy, fear not, the fourth urinal to the right is private.
Love this place, can’t wait to return in the autumn months.

Highly recommended to visit Observatory. It is in the JR station but is difficult to find so I have to ask the information and still struggle a bit .
It is the best place to view the sunset with beer .

On a Saturday afternoon everywhere we went was busy with people and tourists. We decided to go to the JR Tower Observatory. Surprisingly it was not busy at all. Took an elevator to 38 floor with no wait. On the 38 floor just a good amount of people enjoying the views of Sapporo city.
It was a beautiful sunny day that we were able to see all over the snowy city very clearly.
It’s easy to access from Muji store floor at Stellar Place. There is a small cafe/souvenir store on the 38 floor that you can enjoy small bites and drinks.
It was nice to get away from crowds of people in the shopping mall on a Saturday afternoon.

Amazing view! We had waffle and coffee at their cafe. Fair price considering that they don’t have any competition at the 38th floor. A bit of slow service but once it came it looked very good and was just as tasty. If you visit Sapporo you should definitely visit and have something from the menu to!

Very few people when we visited in the afternoon. Initially didn't expect much since the tickets are quite cheap, but wow. 360° view of the entire city. There is a cafe there that sells cakes and coffee that is surprising well priced. Overall I spent less for this and had a better experience than Sapporo TV tower and even Mt Moiwa. Buy a ticket, get a tea set and enjoy the great city view

On the top (38th) floor of the tower, very spacious, great views. We bought cake and ice cream to sit down and enjoy the view peacefully. It was early in a weekday and no lines were there when we arrived.

One of the best places to get the aerial view of Sapporo. Situated right at Sapporo station it was very convenient to reach. It offers some of great views of the city along with historic information all through. It also hosts a cafe & there are seats lined up along the windows and serves as a great place for relaxation as well. There’s a vending machine to buy souvenirs as well, though limited but serves the purpose.

Off the bat, I know what you're here for, so:
TL;DR: Worth visiting.
Tickets are 740 yen each for adults.
It's worth it. the night view is amazing in Sapporo. Stop considering. If you're looking at google reviews for a place to go to in Sapporo at night, this is the place.
There is a cafe at the observatory serving small bites and beverages.
Take your time there, snap some beautiful shots, share your first kiss with your crush, or propose to your body pillow. Applicable location for every romantic scenario.
A must visit for all Hokkaido tourists.

The Sapporo Beer Museum, located in a former factory, offers free admission and features exhibits, tours, and paid tastings. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a tour of the museum to learn about the history of beer in Japan and the beer-making process. The highlight of the tour is a half-hour tasting session with an array of beers available. While sake may seem like a more traditional Japanese drink, experiencing the birth of Hokkaido's famous beer at this museum is also worthwhile.
The Sapporo Beer Garden is a must-visit gem in Hokkaido! The historic ambiance combined with the delicious food and, of course, the incredible beer make it an unforgettable experience. The all-you-can-eat Genghis Khan BBQ is a delight for the taste buds, perfectly complementing the freshly brewed Sapporo beer. The spacious beer hall exudes a lively yet cozy vibe, offering a fantastic setting to enjoy great food and drinks while soaking in the brewery’s rich history. A definite highlight of any trip to Sapporo!

A must stop for beer connoisseurs who enjoy Japan's Sapporo brand.
The museum is free for admission and the building is beautiful with antique brick and mortar construction.
At the end of the tour you can taste test, recommend you order the sampler for ¥800 which comes with free nuts.
It takes about 45 minutes to see everything and most of the displays are predominantly in Japanese.
Elias Chelala — Google review
We only had time to can catch the 88 bus in town for ¥210. Upstairs is the free tour with limited English supplemented by an English written pamphlet guide. There are short videos. It’s simple and straightforward, takes about a half hour all up, so not exactly detailed.
There is a bar where you can purchase tickets at the machine for beers afterwards plus a couple of bar snacks like squares of cheese!??!! and there is the overpriced gift shop of course. Nothing much to write home about. The red brick buildings are beautiful and the grounds are nice but it was raining so we didn’t hang around.
They could do a lot more with this place if there were more frequent guided tours and talks in different languages. Even a headset or audio app tour might be good.
4 stars only.
Gene Genie — Google review
A place like this could benefit greatly from a bar open always with no need for reservations or closed for large parties. Such an iconic place without proper beer on tap served in a pint glass. No plastic, please!
It seems like they are too focused on selling stuff at the gift shops and its crowded fancy restaurant with a wait list. How about beer? How about any size in any ambience and paired with local food.
As a tourist going to Hokkaido and wanting to try fresh beer from its number 1 brand, this proved to be pretty elusive. Loved the people, the place but I missed the smell and feel of a bustling brewery.

A must visit for beer lovers. A really great exhibition, perfectly organized museum. You can visit the museum for free. A free visit also illustrate how Sapporo beer was made in the early years.
The souvenir shops both at the museum and the one outside are selling good stuff at good price. Both stores are not selling the exact same goods so don't forget to check out both stores before leaving.

A nice visit for the famous Sapporo beer. You can come here by bus, the bus stop is right in front of the museum. There is a free tour giving information about the Sapporo beer. There is a star hall where you can purchase beer-tasting set for 800 yen, and 300 yen for individual glass of beer.
Pavinee — Google review
I love how they’ve converted the old brewery into a museum and leisure complex that commemorates almost 150 years of beer tradition in Sapporo. We tried the beer sampler after touring the museum and it somewhat tasted richer, and the experience more meaningful compared to drinking beer at an izakaya.
To get to this tourist spot, get on bus no.188 at the bus bay outside the north exit of JR Sapporo station and get off at Sapporo Beer Garden. The bus ride takes around 10 minutes only.
Ron D — Google review
Pay only ¥500 to get a guided tour (premium tour) and two glasses of beer at the end of the tour. There’s also audio guide to rent for another ¥500 or else the tour will all in be Japanese.
The museum is not big so it only take around 50 minutes with the premium tour, and less without.
We walked in but the staff told us that the premium tour is usually fully booked. If you want the premium tour, you better book before hand.

The whole area is very beautiful and well designed. Thank you for the informative tour of the museum. No need for any guides as there are English/Chinese/Korean translations in booklets of each attraction!

If you're a beer lover, I highly recommend you visit this place if you're in town. The main intention of visiting this place was to drink some of their beers and eat at the beer garden for their speciality, "Genghis Khan".
Great little museum, that offered educational material on the history of Sapporo beer and the process. Unfortunately we only had the free tour, so unsure what the "premium" tour offered, but I'm sure you'll have a great time going through the process of Sapporo Beer.
I highly recommend you make a booking for the beer garden restaurant as well, as they do get quite busy (even on a weekday when we went), but if you're happy to wait and explore the museum and its surrounding area, then you can also do that too.
Ricko Suryadinata — Google review
Very disappointed with their guided tour. It consisted of a short video in their auditorium about the history of Sapporo, followed by the guide bringing us to several exhibits and telling us what we could have read on our own.
The only highlight was the beer tasting, where we were given 2 half glasses of beer.
Honestly, skip the paid tour. Just enjoy the exhibits at your own leisure and pay for beer tasting.

Pretty nice to get to learn about the history of Sapporo beer
1. We reached abit late around 12, so the premium tour was fully booked.
2. However don't be deceived as the free tour is pretty sufficient as well!
3. After the tour, head over to the tasting grounds for a round of all 3 Sapporo beer flavours
After your your, walk around the grounds to snap away at a beautiful garden as well as nice brick walls

Came here by bus. Learned from Google there's a dedicated bus to this museum for ¥210 only. Arrived before it was opened at 11am.
Went for a self tour which is free. The guided one is chargeable. Easy to navigate the history of how Sapporo Beer grew to where it is today and how it part of Sapporo city growth story. Though the displays are in Japanese, there are cards which translates it to other languages, including English. Worth the time spent here.
At the end of it, we get to try 3 of Sapporo's top beers. ¥1000 for a set of 3 glasses of 240ml. The beer hall is packed. Looks like there are a lot of Sapporo Beer fans here😀

Located just one station next to the Sapporo JR terminal, I was impressed by this historical facility’s free yet high-quality exhibition to visitors even though I was not fortunate enough to get a place in the guided tour. The exhibition closely linked the development of the brand with the development of the current urban Sapporo, as well as the life of Japanese in old days. Particularly, they mentioned how the beer production techniques advanced throughout the decades for a better taste. The beer tasting hall was grand and cozy.
2359david — Google review
An interesting museum with full of history and stories about the beer making industry. Especially the brand Sapporo. The architecture of the buildings are all bricks which I found intrigued (as in not the Japanese traditional housing). The beer samples at the end of the tour were fantastic. I m not a beer drinker but have to say they were tasty, crisp and less "bitter" and dry than other beer brands.
Ngoc Nguyen — Google review
As a destination, it’s a must visit. Staff are attentive and very kind. However, would be more helpful if there are English translations in the museum part and I felt there could be more experiences available if you are just going to the museum.
The grounds around are well kept. You can chill or play around with kids also.
The beer tasting when we were there was overcrowded. Probably high season due to snow festival. I would recommend you book one of the on-site restaurants in advance or give them your number to call then kill some time in the museum then order your beers at the restaurant for your fix.
Gabriel Cervantes — Google review
Sapporo beer arose from, and helped build Sapporo into the city that it has become, and the Sapporo Beer Museum curates a wide range of displays showcasing the growth of their brand and the city with it. Whether you are a beer drinker, or a history buff, this place has something for everyone. I visited over the holidays in December of 2019, and was surprised to find the museum was not over crowded. I think the snow that year had deterred a lot of people. It's not a massive museum by any means, but it's one that is well put together. I remember spending about an hour in the museum, and think I could have spent more time if I had a better grasp of Japanese. If I am fortunate enough to visit there again, I will buy the tickets for the beer flight as I skipped it on my first trip there.

The free section of the museum is pretty boring. But love the beer taster and if you don’t like alcohol, do try the corn tea! It’s amazing!!
Need to buy the premium tour pass in advance as we didn’t manage to get any around 11am.

A fun afternoon.
Free museum with information in Japanese, but also English, Korean, Chinese and Russian. The museum aspect deals with the historic site, beer in Japan, and the Sapporo beer company.
It ends with an inside beer hall that was a bit busy but nice enough. Outside there are multiple restaurants, but seemingly nowhere to just have a beer.
We rode bikes and it was a fun and easy way of getting there.

Interesting place to visit for people who likes Sapporo Beer! It is one of the must-see attraction means that it is crowded with tourists.
Went on the self-guided free tour, there are exhibition panels which tells you the history of Sapporo beer. The exhibition panels all in Japanese, but there are some self-help materials for you to read, available in 3 languages (English, simplified Chinese and Korean).
After understanding the history, it is time to taste the beer. There are 3 kinds of beer available for purchase, and there is the tasting set, which gives you 200ml per beer.
Due to the number of tourists there, it is not easy to find a seat. But there are stand up options if you do not mind. They recommend that you do not sit there for more than 30 mins so that others can get to sit down.
There is a small souvenir shop near the exit. You can get T shirts or tote bags there.
Overall, the whole visit took about an hour to understand historical development of Sapporo beer and also doing the tasting

It was one of my highlights when I visited Sapporo, HokkaidoGoing here was super easy since there is a dedicated bus route to and from Sapporo station. The museum is free, it showcases the history of Sapporo beer company highly informative and the information is written in different language so no one will be left behind. 😅 Too bad the bar closes at 4:30 so I was not able drink Sapporo beer here.

Definitely a good place to visit in Sapporo. I recommend trying the beer tasting set (1.000 yen). After visiting the museum, a stop to eat lunch at the Beer garden is a must. They have different options of Genghis Khan, a traditional Hokkaido dish. There is an all you can drink option for 2.000 yen. Recommend having a reservation in advance.

Worth the visit when in Sapporo. It's an interesting insight into the history of the beer and insight into Japan modernising itself. There are English subtitles on the videos, English placards to read from and the layout is well thought out. It's not huge, so you can expect to be here for an hour before getting yourself to the tasting rooms or beer hall next door. The museum is also free, so get in there already!
Carlito — Google review
I went through the free part of the museum. It was a short exhibit which followed into the tasting area. The three beers to try were reasonably priced and a good offering to find the one you like best.
There is a sign that states no video at the counter but if you ask if photos are ok they say yes. I asked in my limited Japanese if photos are ok and I’m pretty sure the younger bartender was making fun of me. Other than that, the museum is a good experience topped of by the tasting hall.
Would recommend.
Dan H — Google review
It's nice and you can pay for some nice drinks at the end. But unless you are paying for a premium tour, is not worth the trip.
The free tour is really short (like 15 min) and all the museum information is in Japanese, so it's not really informative for foreigners.
Danny Juarez — Google review
Did the normal self-guided walk through (not premium) and then finished it off at the bar with a tasting set for 1000 yen.
Museum showcases the history of Sapporo Beer and has around ten exhibits that you can read about. Bar at the end lets you order some drinks of your choice, including some that are exclusive.

The Bakery serves up unique creations like chocolate cream croissants and chocolate pies, while the free-access chocolate museum provides insight into the history of this beloved confection.

New Chitose airport itself is a tourist attraction! Royce chocolate, which originated from Hokkaido, has the first chocolate factory plus museum in an airport in Japan. Many interesting artefacts related to chocolate can be found at the museum. There are limited editions items available for purchase at the gift shop.

Royce’ is a famous chocolatier from Hokkaido. And they just so happen to have a huge shop in the Chitose airport. There are a fresh pastry selection made with their chocolate, chocolates with kid-friendly themes, and fancier "nama" chocolate, which is what they are best known for.
Given that Royce is famous for their chocolates, I had to pick some up as "omiyage" to give to some friends since I was in town... sadly, I bought nothing for myself other than a delicious pastry. But I definitely recommend you stop by this convenient location and pick up a few things for your friends and family (and yourself, of course).

Want a shopping spree with a big discount? Visit this large outlet in chitose. Important tip, time your visit on New Year's day & you will get the biggest surprise in your shopping experience. Practically all stores here are offering their lucky bag(FUKUBUKURO) which is three or four times the amount inside of it. One advantage here is the less crowded athmosphere unlike the outlets in tokyo & osaka. The only downside is the harsh snowy winter, but transportation is so easily accessible from sapporo station.

It is a fair size outlet mall similar layouts as those in North America. But many stores are closed leaving only limited stores that are open. Not too many people during the day. Some stores are heated. There are a few coffee spots and food places as well. Hope more stores will be opened and more people coming here.
Tomson Chan — Google review
Really waste of time coming here. Visited on 1st June (Thu) 2023.
Had a bit of spare time before returning our rental car, so decided to drive here and check this out. The reviews were correct, this is really a ghost mall, with less than 1/3 of the place being open. For those shops that are open, the items offered are those rejected goods, odd colours and not very cheap either. Was excited to visit the ABC mart, but the shoes selection wasn't great, though the prices are cheaper (though not too much cheaper than in Sapporo). Pls go to the shops in Sapporo for better and newer designs.
The management really needs to review the state of this place to make it more attractive and successful.

Many of the shops are closed. Used to be very crowded. Good place to spend sometime before heading to airport.

There is a shuttle bus from CTS to get here every 30 min. It might be a good place to kill time, but for me kind of a disappointment. Everything is not that much of a bargain. I was there on a weekday but I could kind of tell why there were so few customers....

Visited Chitose outlet mall RERA again this early March. It is close to JR minani Chitose station just for few minutes walk. But almost half of the shops has been closed. You might find some good deals for closing down sale from other shops. Food court and cafe still open.

Seems COVID-19 had a severe impact on this outlet mall. Many eateries in the food court are closed. And so too are some shops.

First thing you'll see after the airport since this is the closest stores. When we arrived, it seems like only few people go here to shop. There are a lot of stores around but we didn't see much people. That's kind of good for shopping since you don't have to go around a crowded place. Though I'm not quite sure if business wise, if its good to be there. There are also restaurants around to have a quick bite since Sapporo is still around 40 minutes to 1hour drive, depends on where you are going.

Came for about 3 hours with family. Day passes including use of Onsen (hot spring baths) nearby: adult 1500 yen
Kids up to 12 yrs free but paid about 300 yen for onsen.
Gardens have large twee giftshop, restaurant, nice outdoor patio terrace. Good views from main house down over gardens and beyond. There loads of cosplayers walking around having photos taken.. only in Japan.
All in all a good day out, especially with dip in the onsen afterwards. Onsen has restaurant (straight opposite serving area/kitchen there's a ticket machine where you buy tickets for food, and you present the tickets at the serving area, and are given a buzzing device to take with you.. which.. buzzes when your items are ready to go and collect).

The so-called oxbow lake (Oxbow Lake) is a pool of water that has many meandering parts of the river that appeared when the Ishikari River was straightened.
Dace, crucian carp, and smelt inhabit, and especially smelt fishing in winter is popular because it is easy to approach from Sapporo.
The flow of the Ishikari River is dotted with innumerable large and small river trace lakes, but in the era when the short cuts of this river were connected by hydraulic engineering projects, the Ishikari River, which is currently the third largest in Japan, is next to the Shinano River. It was the second longest.
It's kind of disappointing, but hydraulic control is also important ... it can't be helped.
As a result, the Asahibashi Bridge in Asahikawa was washed away many times, and the Ishikari River basin, which caused the Ishikari Flood, was no longer noticeably flooded.
Nowadays, children's happy roars can be heard from the adjacent campsite ...

Arte Piazza Bibai
The landscape of the remains of a coal-mining town inspired the world-renowned artist. Sculptor, Kan Yasuda, and the outdoor sculpture park where you can enjoy the great outdoors.
Arte Piazza Bibai is an outdoor sculpture park about 60 kilometers northeast of Sapporo, located close to the center of Ishikari plain in Bibai city. “Arte Piazza” is Italian for “Art Square”. In what was once a coal-mining town, an obsolete elementary school building and gymnasium was renovated and left mostly as it was, the 30,000 square-meter area, including the surrounding forest, was redeveloped, and the sculptures from the Bibai-born, world-renowned sculptor Kan Yasuda were placed throughout the building and the surrounding grounds. The park was first opened 1992. Since then, the facilities and works of art continued to increase, becoming the vast 70,000 square-meter outdoor sculpture park it is today. The wooden school building and gymnasium, where numerous art events and hands-on classes are run throughout the year, is also used as a municipal kindergarten. It is a valuable space where you can enjoy the great outdoors and art just by taking a short trip from Sapporo.

The Arte Piazza Bibai is actually a garden exhibit for Kan Yasuda's sculptures. The Japanese sculptor favours working with white marble and black bronze. His style stretches from geometric shapes to organic curves, all in simple and effortless style. His sculptures are well-placed among the rolling hills and natural greenery, giving more impact to his works.

just here for a quick stop during my tour with youtourbus from kkday. beautiful place in winter. snow is thick all around unlike in the Sapporo city. they have food court and souvenirs which i didnt have time to browse due to 10mins break only. there's an "igloo" outside to check out.

Large rest stop with public park. Clean bathrooms and a few souvenir shops, restaurants, and a small grocery store with Hokkaido produce. We really enjoyed the gelato! There were public trash bins for rubbish which are so hard to find in Hokkaido.

A good place for rest at the side of Highways. You can buy food and drinks there. The milk ice cream is the best. Being a tourist, they offer tax free service for spending over 5400yen. There is a connecting park for child who can spend whole day.

Hokuryu Sunflower Village is a picturesque destination with over a million sunflowers blooming between July and August, along with an intricate maze for visitors to explore. It's an excellent spot to spend the day if you appreciate fields of flowers or are a fan of sunflowers. The farm entrance features a food court, and there is also an onsen hotel nearby for those who wish to stay overnight. To reach the village, one can take the JR train and then transfer to a bus.
Big carpark. Very beautiful sunflower field worth a visit. Free photo shooting for a small size like 2R. Can buy a bigger one at 1500 yen. Funny “list the way” game with a small gift. Restaurant and shops are well set up.
Suggest do some sunblock first before coming.
Kwok Yu Lam — Google review
Most beautiful scenery I have ever seen! Really worth it because getting there wasn't the easiest. You will have to take JR then change to a bus and the bus timing wasn't the friendliest, if you miss the timing for the bus then good luck to you. Best if you could rent car and drive there cause there are plenty of parking spaces. But I really had fun there and took a lot of pretty sunflower photos.
If I could feedback, it will be best if they can provide some sort of transport services for visitors who don't drive.

What a beautiful place to spend the day. It was a bit time consuming to get to and the bus intervals from Sapporo are very limited, but I will certainly go back. They have various types of sunflowers that I didn't know existed. To top it off you can try sunflower ice cream as well.

This is an average "Michi No Eki" rest area, the kind that is sprinkled along all major roads in Japan to prevent road fatigue. Has restrooms, a restaurant (didn't eat there so can't tell how good it is), a tourist information area, small gift shop, and a separate building where local vegetables and handcraft are sold. As far as I know this is the only rest area along the road between Takigawa and Furano. In case you are thinking of staying overnight in the parking area, the adjacent road 452 leading into the nearby mountains has a couple of day visit onsen which are pretty decent (Starlight hotel is one that I visited and can recommend).

Close to the Fukagawa expressway.
My nephew in Asahikawa was transferred to the National Police Agency, so on the way back, I stopped at the Fukagawa exit to buy some fun scales ☺️.
Urokodango Honpo is run by the local Takahashi Shoji Co., Ltd.
In fact, my aunt lived in Fukagawa City for many years (and still lives there), and since we got married, she has known Mr. Takahashi Shoji of Uroko Dango Honpo, and we were treated to a treat👏.
It's been nearly half a century since I first received the scale-shaped triangular package, but the packaging, taste, and chewy texture of rice flour have remained the same 👌 (750 yen for 10 vacuum packs) Raw 9 pieces 680 yen)👏.
I remember that it was initially released in white bean flavor, then red bean flavor, and then matcha flavor ☺️.
About 10 years ago? I think it will be, but Uroko Dango Yokan (picture included) has been released ☺️.
There are also three types, and the light sweetness and chewy texture of the rice flour are just as delicious as Urokodango👌.
There are three flavors available individually (325 yen): white bean, red bean, and matcha, and there are three flavors in a box (865 yen).
All of these yokan are delicious and recommended 🎶.
As expected, it is the long-established confectionery "Uroko Dango" ☺️.
The restaurant on the second floor 🍴 ``Ajishirube Ekitei'' is also a recommended restaurant 🍜.
Although it is self-serve with the purchase of a meal ticket, the recommended menu here is ``Kamameshi.''
All menu items are exquisite. Among them, the chicken kamameshi is delicious and the aroma of soy sauce whets the appetite, so we highly recommend it. Of course, it's local rice 🍚☺️.
I visited for the first time in two years. I'm on my way home, including dinner.
Unfortunately, the staff are still unfriendly. Self is the correct answer😱.
All the menu items I received were delicious👏👏. The recommended dish is the kamameshi menu. A variety of menus from healthy to hearty ☺️☺️.

Furano Ski Resort is a family-friendly destination in Hokkaido, Japan. It boasts 24 ski runs and opportunities for back-country skiing. Additionally, the resort offers hot springs and English-language activities geared towards children. While the resort can be pricey, visitors can enjoy convenient access to backcountry areas without special equipment. Overall, Furano Ski Resort is an excellent winter getaway for those who love skiing and cold weather.

Take a Lavendar Airport Limousine bus from Asahikawa Bus Terminal to New Prince Furano Resort (2 hours). At the resort they do provide shuttle service to skiing area or might take a 7 minutes walk if you want. They provided skiing equipment for rent (5 hours 8800 yen). Ride the cable car (2300 + 500 refundable deposit) to the top hill to enjoy the beautiful scenery (for those not a skier). There is a restaurant serve quite delicious ramen. Don't forget to drop by Ningle Terrace (4 min) for some beautiful photo as well. Wonderful place worth my visit.

The ski resort areas are lightly crowded on both sides. The terrain and courses are enough for an intermediate to enjoy all day. For advance skiers and snowboarders, look for gated terrains. There are many food options at reasonable prices in the main town area.

Best powder in Hokkaido, just slightly small unless also taking Kitanomine into account, also has better lunch at 11th floor if you feel like to have one, can get really crowded during peak season, long waiting line at the gondola, try taking the lift at bottom to mid might be faster.

Went in the second Saturday in March. It was really quiet despite the conditions which were really brilliant.
We got a full day ticket and spent a full 5 hours on the resort without going to the same place twice. You can go a little off-piste pretty safely and there are signs about if you want to go all the way off how to do it safely.
There are some good restaurants at the bottom that are pretty cheap. Unfortunately the one at the top of the ropeway has had a fire and is shut down for now.
The only down side was the flat area going from the Furano area to Kitanomine area and the white people who decided to stand in front of the exit from the lifts to have a chat.

This is a great ski resort as it is not too busy like Niseko. The signage for the ski runs are very well presented. For beginners like us, we have no issues with the direction of the skin runs. We have been to other ski resorts where we couldn’t even spot which is the green run (beginner) or blue run due to bad signage. The staff here was also very friendly and helpful.
However the only thing we complaint is that the slopes here are little bit uneven so it will be hard for beginners to practice.

It’s the 22th of December and the management doesn’t manage it to open more than two chairlifts. This is the result!
The excuse is not enough snow. Even do we have a snow base of more then a meter… it seems more like they wanna keep the cost low for the operation and squeeze the most money out of it. We will never know but what we know is that it is a fraud on those who want to have a happy day in the snow!!!

While the view is enjoyable, the cost of goods may be considered expensive by some. Access to the location can be limited, with only a few taxis available as transportation options. Entry is free but operating hours are subject to change. The best time to visit would be at night when all of the lights have been lit up.
So dreamy, like those ginger bread houses, Santa’s workshop in books. It looks so nice during the light-up in the evening of winter. However, some shops were already closed at the time (Around 5-6pm).

The vibe of this place is cozy. You can walk around, look at the shops (handmade items but expansive) and get a cup of coffee. Also, they have a small section where you can do a short tubing, and the cost is around $5 CAD

I visited this place quite late
Around 7pm+
You can access to this place from the hotel.
Walk pass a souvenir zone and get to lower ground from the elevator.
Not so crowded
Definitely a place to take nice photos when it's empty.
Too bad it's working time just until 830pm, so I didn't get to enter most of the shops.
By the time I left, there is no more buses.
The hotel staff helped me to call a taxi.
My suggestion is to visit here earlier,
Probably around 5pm
Chill in some cafe and wait til the closing time to get good photos.

We only had limited time here and I think the view would be better at night when all the lights have been lit up. There are a couple store that sell cute souvenir such a wooden figure. The place is small so a couple hours here should be enough.

A tourist attraction in Furano where local Japanese artists sell their arts and crafts as souvenirs. The shops are in the form of wood cottages and when sunset the lights will be light up to create a more picturesque view. There are also some cafes which sell hot chocolate, milk, cakes, ice creams. If you come in the winter, you will be served a stunning blanket of soft white snow which covers the roads and creates snow hats on the cabins and snow mushrooms on the trees.
Marina Marino — Google review
Very surprising place in the middle of the forest, next to an hotel. Many cabins (stores) with various crafts and lovely hand-made items.
Worth the trip, especially at night with all the illuminations!
Gabriel BUCCI — Google review
A quaint and beautiful place that feels out of this world. The place looks great in the day and even better in the evening when it transforms through the fairy lights that line the walkways and outline of the huts. Each hut contains a shop filled with hand crafted products which are beautiful and intricate. Worth a visit!

Nice place but nothing we can do except taking pictures, and it is quite hard to go there except by taxi/private car or shuttle. Shuttle is limited and cost ¥500/trip/pax. Do expect crowd too, as taking good picture is quite impossible.
Gregory Ali Ng — Google review
The view was EXCELLENT oh gosh how can this place exist. This is a night place so do go at night for pictures, but note that the place closes at 7:45. Some shops closes before that, and they don’t operate on certain days.
The small cozy wooden huts sells artisanal pieces made by local artisans. They were stunning but prices were on the higher side as expected.
Honghui Chi — Google review
It is good, actually a shopping area but the cost is way too much than the actual.
So just went to enjoy the view, try to visit when it is going to be dark.
But the problem is access you don’t have many buses to get to the location, few Taxies are available.
The entry is free and the operating hours changes depending on the situation

Visited in December, and there is a christmas vibe feeling in a snowy winter.
Small wooden cottages selling handicraft works.
Late noon time when the lights are just lited look very dreamy.
It became crowded in the evening when the tourist bus groups arrived.

Very quaint and pretty place. However half the stores were closed or vacant. Not even a cafe was open. A pity because it was a very enchanted and fairy tale like place.

Unique and hidden in cosy corner of the forest - worth a little walk around if one is into artisanal works (and prices) and for pictures of the architecture. Make one feel in a movie that shows part of a magical forest of special beings

As much as it’s beautiful, there’s nothing much to do here aside from taking nice photos. Do expect huge crowds to be there so you’ll be walking and stopping periodically to wait for people around you to get their photos taken. If you’re near the area, you can visit for a short while, but I wouldn’t recommend to purposely make your way out to be here.

It's not that great. I have been to many attractions like this before across the world, so maybe I am spoiled a bit. They usually have a really pleasant atmosphere and are crowded. This place was dead, and it just didn't feel as enchanting as how the pictures make it out to be. It closes at 2045, yet half the stores were closed when we got there at 1800. Handmade items mean everything is super overpriced. The village itself is good for some pictures, but other then that, it's not something I would say is worth visiting at all.

There are some artists selling their work. A lot of the stores were closed the day we went, as well as the cafe and the bar.

The Wind Garden located at New Furano Prince Hotel boasts a charming English-style landscape complete with a quaint cottage. The garden is adorned with an abundance of beautiful flowers and provides a serene atmosphere for visitors to take a leisurely stroll. It is not overcrowded with tourists, making it an ideal location to enjoy the unique flora in peace. For nature enthusiasts, the Wind Garden is definitely worth visiting due to its diverse range of captivating plant life.
This is one of the most underrated garden I’ve been to in Furano and Biei areas. This garden is very well look after, the staff working in the rose garden is very knowledgeable and even showed us how to remove weed and where to buy the tools for it. We have a great time walking around and enjoying the garden.
It’s only a short ride from Shin Furano Hotel, it’s a must visit in Summer if you are nearby.

Farm Tomita is a large lavender farm located in Furano and is visited by millions of tourists every year. The fields are full of beautiful flowers from mid-May to early October, and the greenhouse has some plants that bloom all year round.
Visited mid-May so the fields weren’t fully filled in, but from what we saw the farm is sure to be beautiful in peak season. Free admission. They have several fields of different flowers to enjoy, an ice cream shop, as well as a souvenir shop filled with a variety of lavender goods. Definitely worth stopping and strolling through the nice flowers!

Reminds me of lavender farms back in England, except far more colourful!
If you are lucky with the weather, it’s absolutely gorgeous to visit. The rows of colourful flowers, combined with the open sky and distant mountains make it a necessary visit if you’re in Hokkaido.
There are a lot of buses bringing tourists in the summer, so be aware it can get busy, but it didn’t feel cramped when I was outside the buildings.
The ice-cream was delicious (I recommend melon and lavender), just make sure you eat it quickly. It melts very fast in the heat. The farm shops are very beautiful and well decorated, and sell all sorts, including dried flowers, perfumes, decorations and food items.
The closest all-year train station is a 20-25 minute walk away, and only 5 minutes by train from Furano. The melon farm next door is also a necessary visit!

Farm Tomita is very famouse for Lavender flowers field! the views of field is seem like paintings !
unfortunately , when we got there, the flowers were starting gone!
but, the flowers field is so huge that we take walk clean and peaceful path!
the air was so so clean and fresh and the path along the low mountain was so peaceful!
oh, the center of farm there are convenient complex shop including souvenirs shop and restaurants and so on!
when we dropped by restaurants for lunch, we were so happy because the shop sells cool drafts beer!! wow!
the tourists don't need to buy the tickets for park! especially tourists whois using own car!
but, to the tourists who is using train, i recommend to buy "packages tickets" including JR tickets & experience old train & tour of Farm Tomita
(when we tour Sapporo, JR Train sells it!)
anyway, we had a good time here!

Beautiful place to enjoy some lavender fields and fresh melon (the best I've ever had)! Lavender is in its peak in June but I went in August and there were still some growing, but also a bunch of other gorgeous flowers. Plus, the melon is the best in August. There were a lot of people there, but everyone got a chance to get their perfect instagram photos, so just take your time and don't rush. It's not a place to rush. Also, I highly recommend taking the scenic train that only runs in the summer! One of the train stops is near this farm.

Admission is free, and you can enjoy the lavender fields and various flowers.
I visited during Golden Week and wasn't expecting to see lavender, but there was lavender blooming inside the house.
You can see the cherry blossoms, and the Tokachidake mountain range and scenery are also great.
I think you can enjoy it without getting crowded even outside of the lavender blooming season.

Really touristy with buses after buses dropping off at this place. But this place is made for tourists so it has enough amenities to interest anyone. There's a big variety of shops (from dried flower, lavender to melon products) around the farm and beautiful flowers abound. There's also a lovely photography museum, factory production lines as well as various viewpoints (don't miss out on the viewing spot in the lavender factory).
The entire area is nicely maintained and a well curated space with the path amongst the trees a personal highlight for me.

Was very crowded when I went in the afternoon. On the left of the car park were retail shops mainly focusing on melon and ice cream. That's not part of Farm Tomita.
Farm Tomita is right of the car park. Flowers fields were pretty. There were several F&B and souvenir shops across the farm. So don't join the massive crowd in the first ice cream shop at the entrance, there's plenty more inside without the crowd.

This place has many different plots of flowering plants in all hues and colors and was indeed a warming sight for our tired eyes. We enjoyed ourselves wandering around the different fields, having a great time taking many pics for remembrance. The tractor and motorcycle in this place are all lavender in color! There is a small cafe where we enjoyed the sweet melon (we couldn't enjoy it elsewhere as all the melon farms have already closed up for the remaining months of the year (we visited furano in 2nd week of oct) and also different versions of the lavender ice cream. Multiple shops are located all over the huge estate for you to purchase different types of lavender goods and souvenirs if you wish. Toilet facilities are readily available as well too.

A must visit place in Furano. Visited at the end of June, Lavender is just beginning to bloom. Even at this stage, it's beautiful. Some types of flowers have yet to bloom so if you come in mid July it would be spectacular.
There are many souvenirs related to lavender. There is soap, perfume, dry lavender flowers, essential oil...etc. Tax free is available for foreigners.
Must try the fragrant lavender and melon Ice cream. And also the melon pan and fresh cut melon.
So come early as it gets very crowded as the day progresses.

We booked a Klook tour to go here and it was the best decision ever! Even tho it was drizzling that day but we still enjoy ourselves very much.
You do not have to pay to enter, it's free then along the fields there are cafes and shops that sell a wide range of lavender related products.
The scenery is stunning really worth it to make a trip there, we tried the best selling melon bun but it's too sweet for our liking.
Best to rent a car and drive there or go on a tour like us.

There is also an alpaca farm on site, making it a great place to visit if you're interested in these friendly animals.

I went and visited in the middle of December with the tour. They will ask and reserve the snowmobile for us in advance.

The price are also included helmet, boots and pants but no gloves and coat so wear and dress your proper clothes or bring the thin balaclava protect your face and neck from the cold during your ride.
Local guide ride very slow and safety. All rider are ride one by one. Wonderful experience ride through the natural surroundings

Tourist trap. 500 yen parking, 500 yen entrance, 500 yen to see the alpacas. Yes, it's really beautiful on a sunny day, but I found it so artificial. For the lazy there are tractors and gasoline buggies.
I walked around the whole place and I was done in 30 mins including photos. I thought it wasn't worth the money. There are beautiful places in Biei that are completely free to take photos.

Wonderful spring/summer experience for all, family centered, can hire golf arts, tractor buggy and walk through these stunning fields of flowers. I will also reccomend trying the mouthwatering soft serve milk or lavender icecream, famous in this region. Eating this while strolling through these flower fields for a unique sensual experience. The views beyond Shikisai are exceptional to make the most beautiful photographs, a great Instagram spot for those that indulge in social media. Enjoy.

The flowers weren’t in full bloom yet when we were there. There are options to rent a buggy (if you have a driver’s license recognises in Japan) or riding a trolley pulled by a tractor. The space is fairly large, with some uphill along the way. Pay extra to feed alpacas. Helicopter also available (but pricey). The tractor ride stopped on the uphill to allow pictures overlooking the flower hills, which would have been breathtaking if all the flowers were in full bloom.

1. You could just stroll yourself around the area and it's really quite chill.

I visited here because of a day tour package. You can enjoy snowbiking during winter. They will provide a safety set, including a helmet for your safety.
If you aren't a fan of snowbiking, you can go for snow sliding, and equipment rental is 200 yen. It is good for family activities.
We enjoyed our time here; it is scenic, surrounded by mountains, and you can have a photo session here as well.
Besides, there are kiosks selling baked potatoes with butter, which are a must-try food here as Hokkaido is famous for its potatoes.
We tried the regular potato, which cost 200 yen, and it tasted good.

A museum devoted to snowflakes is located in the city of Asahikawa, in Japan. The museum features displays of beautiful ice crystals, as well as a music hall themed around snow flakes. The venue is quite small, but its unique design and atmosphere make it an attractive tourist destination.

The ticket for one adult is 700 yens. In my opinion, it's not worth it. There isn't too much to see. Yes, it's pretty and has some cool ice inside, but that's it, there isn't too much else to see. A shop, an event room, a video library, which is everything in Japanese.
It has a restaurant inside, but you can access to it from outside the museum. The money doesn't worth the visit.
Mariano Matayoshi — Google review
Exquisite place with elegant snow design everywhere and stunning halls! There are only some designated rooms so to be honest it's all more like a feast to eyes than an interesting experience. And despite the map it's still hard to make the way since all rooms are connected and there are two floors, making it harder to find directions. The restaurant only offers like 5 lunch sets but it's well-prepared and worthy, about ¥1200-1500 for a lunch set with a main dish, salad/bread, soup and dessert, or ¥500-800 for dessert only. Even the dishes are inspired by the signature snow design!

Best if you could understand Japanese.
Entrance fee:
¥700 for adults (¥650 if you log on to their website and find the discount coupon)
¥500 for University Students (student card is required)
¥550? A little cheaper for high school students or below.
There’s a bridal service too. And if you’re a cosplayer, it would be suitable for photoshoot.

I'd call it more of an event hall, with a small element of "museum". There's plaques in Japanese, English, and Chinese, so you can learn all about the formation, crystallization, and science of snowflakes in three languages. If you like sparkly things, there's plenty of that to entertain the eyes.
If you're also the sort who likes to get dressed up like a pretty princess, they also have a photo package and rental service. Just call ahead to make a reservation though.

A romantic scenic spot. The 'museum' displays quite a number of 'snow'-like exhibits. With the crystal lamps, this place is decorated as a castle in Frozen. This photo is from around 1998-99.
I've finally been able to make the film digital, so I'm releasing it.
At that time, Kenmeri was on display at a nearby cafe and pension.
Approximately 15 years have passed since then, and when I visited again after getting married and bringing my child, I was told that it was no longer on display and had been kept somewhere (to prevent crime, details can be found here). (I won't write it).
It's one of those views that I wish would remain unchanged forever, so I was very disappointed, but there were also various concerns such as fading, tampering, and theft. . .
Also, with the recent increase in theft crimes involving old cars, this is unavoidable.
These are my memories from my time in Hokkaido.

the place used as a fampus advertising in Japan, forgot the name but the guide told me that. No too many people here, beautiful scenery and has not been fampus yet so make sure to put this on your itinerary in hokkaido

This tree apparently became famous after an advertisement. Nothing much to see now actually.

タイミングにもよりますが、観光バスがまとめて到着したときは人が多いです。

It depends on the timing, but there are a lot of people when the tour buses arrive all at once.

The lone tree was located in a private land. We could only take photo from far. This tree with the snowy surrounding was quite instagramable

2023.11 the time I went no snow and no green. A bit dull. But it is a good feeling. You can find their parking or park on street but really danger.

There is a famous large tree on the hill called “Ken & Mary” became famous even on TV for a tree scene in a Nissan Skyline commercial that aired in Japan in 1976. The name of the tree is derived from the character “Ken & Mary” in the ad.
About 800 meters from Hokusai no Oka Park.

The Hotel Tetora Asahikawa Station is a down-to-earth hotel that is located in the heart of Asahikawa. It offers rooms with flat-screen TVs and minifridges, making it an ideal spot for travellers looking to stay in the area. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and guests can take advantage of free Wi-Fi throughout their stay.
Cozy places but just next to station. Aeon mall is 10 minutes walk only. Market is just next.

4 stars for value.
It is a humble down market place but clean and decent.
I like the free drinks (coffee, soup, soda, etc) service and the bread breakfast was simple but nice enough.
Location is very convenient.

When i saw the comment on google map, i have already booked the hotel. The electricity will break down if you use 3 types of electric appliances including air-con, tv and hair dryer. the room charges ~hkd640 includ. tax but not worth. The room is on 3rd floor and the street light is just near your window. Even you can touch the street light if your arms are long enough. quite disturbing at night.

Cozy rooms. Very close to the station so convenient to use. One star less cuz the lift always stopped in the 3rd(lobby) floor :p

Budget friendly hotel with acceptable amenities. It might be worth mentioning that the location is superb.

(Translated by Google) I used it on my winter trip to Hokkaido.
You can freely drink coffee from the drink bar from evening until morning, and you can also get bread in the morning.
When I went, check-in and check-out went smoothly, and breakfast was comfortable and not particularly crowded.
Even though the accommodation fee was low, I thought this service was very cost-effective!
I was also surprised that there was a handwritten message from the front desk in the room.
I think it's a very good hotel!

(Translated by Google) The exterior looks old, but the rooms are clean! It felt very clean. The air conditioner is also new! The free bread and coffee in the morning were delicious. The door was thin so I didn't notice anything when I slept with earplugs in. 3000 yen per night during the holidays is a great price! I want to go again!
