I am probably not the best person to write this review as I have been to Harnas before, and fell in love with this piece of heaven in the Namibian bush on my first visit...
However this was the first time we did not stay in the self catering units, and opted for the luxury rooms as we had family visiting from SA. The self catering units are great so we expected the same this time, but was pleasantly surprised how wonderfully rustic the luxury rooms are, yet the attention to detail was evident considering how comfortable and luxurious the units are. A true home away from home.
The staff, tours and food was stunning as always and we are happy to see that this unique destination and experience is still such a beautiful place as it has always been.
A must for any one who is tired of corporate type, catering for the masses establisment!
A must for anyone wishing to experience true Namibian hospitality and wanting to support a good cause!

Campsite was sandy and stark although relatively close to reception and the bar where ostriches and tortoises roam. Visiting donkeys and baboons were an interesting wake-up in the campsite, despite the guard.
The morning feed and afternoon San Bushman Skills excursions were interesting and enjoyable.

Paid visit during September - maintanance not up to standard. New ablutions is nice.
Donkeys and baboons however spoiled everything. Management was prepared to upgrade us to chalet to compromise baboons situation - we did not accept.
I suggest parents with children to check on the situation before visiting.
Beautiful the lion roars at nights.

Amazing place for wildlife and animal lovers. The accommodation and food is great, the staff is very friendly and the owner, Marieta, gives this place a soul. However, Naankuse is taking over more and more and changing Harnas into Naankuse 2.0 with less heart and soul and less and less animal interactions. There is no information transparency for us visitors and the Harnas team doesn't get along too well with the new employees coming from Naankuse, which is understandable. It's a shame what Marlice wants to do with Harnas. It should stay a non-luxurious, soulful place with a large focus on animals, not the san! I am not sure if I want to visit again as Marieta's legacy probably won't live on. Harnas is not Naankuse! HARNAS STAYS HARNAS!

Lovely peaceful stay. Waking up to the lions roaring. Coffee on the veranda with birds singing and buck grazing right next to the house.
Ostriches walking past the door. They have a pool and fully stocked bar. Lots of animals walking around the garden.
The work they do hear is amazing and takes a lot of dedication.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
Miserable… false advertising or website.
This is not a rescue farm of wildlife..
But just a breading farm…
Making money on the back of poor animals that been breed and live in small enclosure.
I felt like In a zoo.
Shame on you.
You probably start 30 years ago with good intention but you became a proper disgrace.
Same miserable place like Okonjima or Aquila in the RSA. Pitty

We had a great time at Harnas. The campsites were right next to the Cheetah enclosure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable, from the campsite to the food and game drive.

Amazing place to see various animals in controlled environment, Good atmosphere with nice food and service. Accomodation in stone cottages was incredible surrounded by nature and the sounds of wild animals in the distance.

If caged animals with vague explanations of why they are caged is your thing this is the place for you. Feeding tours are interesting though for the sake of seeing the animals and camping facilities are good. Food sucks. Chalets are very mediocre for the price.
Mokolodi Nature Reserve focuses on nature co servation and education. It has a large education centre geared for school groups and university level research. In the current financial climate, donations are welcomed. Message me if I can facilitate your contact with Mokolodi.

Its beautiful, you can still see some animals next to the restaurant ie zebras and warthogs without going on a safari.
There's a watering hole just in front of the restaurant where i found 2 zebras and a couple of warthogs .
The background jazz music gets you in a chilled relaxed mood.

Best place to spend quality time with friends or family. We can camp in the wild life and restaurant is available to fulfill our hunger.
I have been there for a hike in the early morning and that's one of the best days I have sent in GABORONE.

Did not feel the vibe.
And unfortunately had a rainy day we had our game drive booked so didn't see much.
But the guide was stil very nice!

They don't host the big five but the bush braai there is amazing. The staff lays out tables and a bonfire to keep us warm, with a nice view of a lake with some hippos in it. They also have a caged cheetah.

Great place to stay close to Gaborone. Chalets spaced well apart close to a water hole. The game watching from the porch was fantastic!
The restaurant at Mokolodi, childrens play area, and snake park provide ample entertainment for parents and children alike.
Mokolodi, well worth a visit!

This is the closest nature reserve from central Gaborone. I took game safari in 2 hours. It was P250 per adult which is cheaper than doing in SouthAfrica. Finally, I got to see rhinos family! It was fantastic!

Cannot say enough good things. Night drives are the best. Saw my first rhino (2 in fact) and my first leopard on night drives at mokolodi. The staff are friendly and they genuinely seem to care about animal conservation.

Super friendly staff to welcome and book in. Camp site Rustic and clean. Value for money. Definately need a high clearance vehicle. Watch out for the Baboons. Use a piece of wire to keep the bin closed.

Beautiful piece of property a short drive from Gabarone.
With a various amounts of wildlife available to see (no lions, however), there are some opportunities to view bigger game and plenty of birds. The drawback is there is a significant amount of undergrowth and heavy brush that makes seeing many of the animals virtually impossible, especially in the warmer parts of the day. It can be hit-or-miss whether you see anything, and we had a "miss" on most of everything. We did drive into the Cheetah encounter- there is only one female at the moment. Nice to see, but not worth the extra.

Two hiurs game drive. Nice experience. Saw giraffes, zebras, and impalas, but no felines nor elephants.

A great couple of hours on the game drive. Got to see lots of animals including giraffes, zebra, impala, turtles, baboons, ostrich and a warthog not to mention loads of beautiful birds.

I visited on a Saturday with five other American exchange students, and we did the Rhino Tracking. After just 30 minutes, our guides spotted rhino tracks and we got out of the truck to track down the rhinos on foot. There were four of them, not far from the road, and we watched/followed them for at least 45 minutes. We had a fantastic experience watching the rhinos, and we felt lucky to have encountered them so early in the day. We then had several hours left of the tour to ride around looking for other wildlife. We saw giraffes, impalas, a kudu, warthog, hippos, and lots of birds. Then there was a very well done picnic by a lake. The whole thing lasted four hours and was easily worth the P800 per person we paid. We will be back for giraffe tracking!

The setting is beautiful and scenic and the cuisine simple, authentic and divine. The serving area has been expanded to accommodate a greater number of people. The air and atmosphere is vibrant and the personal touch from the owners and the well-trained waiters refreshing. The lighting and creative decor add a fantastical twist to dining under in "African bush" under the stars. Great place for family outings. Highly recommended!

Entrance fee is reasonable if you take into consideration that you can spend a whole day in the resort and all the attractions are included. The restaurant's menu & prices reasonable ...
The music tends to be too loud.….. that’s the negative I have

Very fun in the morning as there's few people. They have three lions and 1 lioness. The rollercoaster is fun but a little brutal as it has sharp turns. It's a small resort so not a lot of rides, but very fun.

Definitely a must see if you are in Gaborone. If you have a good guide there is so much history. Notice the similarity to the statues at the Mansudae Grand Monument. These are much easier to see in person.

If you're a lover of culture, history and heritage folklore then you'll need a picture by this monument.
More especially that this site is very secure and highly accessible in the heart of Gaborone CBD... (rumours are this monument may be relocated to atop a certain hill)

These are the finest three Dikgosi's that I've ever seen... Note that the entrance is on the North side of the square and the guard will ask you if you need information upon entering. You can tell him you do not because there is sufficient information online. There are 6 other statues that describe Botswana's development over the past 200 years. It's a nicely maintained area beside the supreme court complex.
Greg Angevine — Google review
Interesting space and troika of statues commemorating a foundational moment in Botswana's history. The guide at the site is enthusiastic and energetic, and definitely a reason why this was one of the highlights of our weekend in Gaborone. The park is situated in the city's modern business centre, next to some spectacular highrise buildings. Entry was free (for us). The parking was not clear, so we parked at a shopping centre across the street. Google said that the site was 'closed' (on a Saturday) but it was not.
Robert Uys — Google review
Interesting and significant spot. The statues are very impressive and the history covered is wide. We never used a guide, but apparently the on-site guide is excellent. Good free parking and free entrance - recommend this when in Gaborone. Bonus views of the high court behind which is interesting as well.
Despina Newman — Google review
The Three Dikgosi Monument is an 18-feet tall bronze statue honouring the three dikgosi (chiefs): Khama III, Sebele I, and Bathoen I, who led Botswana to its boipuso (independence). Only in 1966, what was previously known as Bechuanaland became the Republic Of Botswana after eight decades as a British protectorate. The monument is the most visited attraction in the CentralBusinessDistrict (CBD) of Gaborone. Bonus --- a free attraction!

Exceptional👌🏽
Clean, employees know how to do their job especially giving historical events of Botswana and countries it has significantly rubbed shoulders with.
There's a guys named🤔... he's really good at his job, my husband and I really enjoyed being attended to by him, good job man and keep going strong, mega love🫶🏾
There's no entrance fee.
Public transport is well available.
Traffic was relatively low, I think it was due to the fact that it was a holiday.
Network coverage is quite good.
The area is really clean and well looked after.
Crime rate I can confidently say it's really low at this area.
Wheelchairs ramp✔️

Got a great tour from the guides! Learned lots about the history of Botswana
Polished hotel offering restaurants, bars & a casino, plus an outdoor pool, a spa & tennis courts.
Excellent hotel for the business and leisure traveler. We enjoyed our stay a lot. The hotel could do with some better cleaning in terms of their hallways to the rooms. Atleast this didn't flow in to the rooms which were absolutely perfect.

If I could rate a 0 Star, I would. I am a mother of a 2 week old baby, who politely asked to wait at the restaurant area for my husband to collect us. I was refused even after I asked just to sit inside with my baby as he is still very small. Twice, I they said no and ushered me outside to sit in the heat with a new born. I politely asked and yet staff refused. How inconsiderate of a place of service to mothers and new borns!
After that, they had the audacity to ask whether my husband and I will then be eating at the restaurant.
Awful l, absolutely awful. No humanity what so ever!

Been there since Gaborone Sun - witnessed the take over and remodeling by AVANI.
1) Excellent Rooms.
2) Below average Service all round.
a) Room service with Cold and 1.5hrs late food. Happened twice in my latest 3 night stay.
b) Check in took 30 mins+;
c) Main Restaurant has lost its appeal.
3) Gym without a Fan or A/C - Why??
All the above is easy to fix. Just fix it.

Clean environment and world class facilities. The only draw back is the road design if you want to get to the airport, you have to go to the circle and back again since joining the street is risky and most likely illegal. Otherwise it's a good place to be for meetings and resting too. The still water has PH8 which is ideal for a cool refreshing downing 😋

It is a horrible place, not mother and child friendly. On the 28 of April I suffered one of the biggest disapppiments in my life. I took my wife to this horrible place with our 12 days old baby that she could lunch and way for me in the restaurant of the hotel. She was chased out of the place ( restaurant) because they were cleaning and she implored to just stay there to assist the baby, they refuse completely and didn't offer a solution. There is not humanity in the staff of this place. I don't recomend it at all for us foreigns. In addition and this is another reason for my review the management answered the comments with an automatic response, I repeat like I said before there is not humanity at all. I'll do the same review everywhere.

That Hotel is dirty, the carpets are dirty, the headboards, walls, mirrors it's just dirty nje. We stayed there for 6 days and we complained the whole time and ended up just sucking it up, housekeeping didn't do much to help the situation, their manager was also not all that clean so we just figured that's just how they roll. They gave us unironed fitted sheets, when we asked they said they don't iron fitted sheets, my jaw was on the floor. Anyways, they have great food though, the buffet breakfast is amazing, the food from the Pantry is delicious and their receptionist and cosiage service is absolutely amazing.

This is a nice hotel, located not too far from shops. Staff were friendly and the check-in service was quick. Small bar area right next to the pool and a restaurant that serves nice food.
The room is slightly bigger than some of the other hotels, but the furniture seems a bit old.
Stephan Gilliland — Google review
It was an excellent experience all the way from the airport pick up. OT the hotel shuttle driver was friendly chatting with another guest and I.
The check in experience was also warm and welcoming. Minkie and Tumiso saw to it that I got my preferred room option. Shortly after settling into my hotel room I receive a call from Biopelo, a guest service agent who asked about the Avani experience so far; check-in and the hotel room. This for me was a 6star experience as I have been to several hotels and this was the first one that called immediately to get feedback on the checkin and how the room was.
My stay was for 2weeks and through out the stay staff were friendly and seeing to it that Iearnt a bit of Seswana :).
Poloko the guest relations manager was very helpful with checking on me during the period and also working out an 18hole game of golf at the Gaborone Golf Club which I felt was a great gesture.
I enjoyed the food at the breakfast restaurant with the variety of breads, pastries, eggs, vegetables, juices, yogurts, fruit and tea. My only feedback here was that I would love to have chicken sausages and not only beef or pork. Also I would have like scrambled eggs as option for those who do not eat fried eggs. However the meals were nice and tasty and I always looked forward to breakfast.
I was sure to try out their Seswana dishes in the other restaurants at the pool side and at Mahogany. I had the Oxtail and pap, Seswa and morogo and other nice dishes.
My Mahogany experience was an excellent as it is a fine dining restaurant within Avani with professional waiters. I had the Chobe Brim dish with coconut pap and morogo it was amazing and flavorful.
For my trips around town I had a nice cab driver Henry from the hotel who took me around.
It has been an amazing Avani experience and I look forward to visiting again.

What a let down, always wanted to go to Avani. Today we arrived at Avani, we went to the pool restaurant, we waited a while at our table , no waiter came to us. Eventually I got up went to the bar to go and ask for the menu. The waiter came to the table with the menu, I asked him if my son could swim he first said no and then said why not. My son went into the pool. While we were still waiting for the waiter to return another guy arrived , telling us you can only swim if you are staying in the hotel, or you can take out a 3 months membership.
But my son need to get out. You had 2 people in the pool you selling the pool bar restaurant idea to guests both in house and from outside but they not allowed to swim. We left your venue disappointed and disgusted.
We would have had 3 starters , 3 main dishes and 2 dessert. 1 bottle of wine and 2 cocktails.
Avani will not see me again.

The staff were friendly and the animals were in a very good condition taking into account that we were there just after winter before the summer rains has started. However the same cannot be said about the tent camp where we stayed. They had to run a generator during the day and sometimes at night to pump water that we can use. Quite a lot of maintenance is needed in the camp. It has potential if work is done at the camp.
Tiaan Reyneke — Google review
We use the tented camp. Very nice setup between the trees. Unfortunately water was a problem. You must bring your own drinking water and the water supplied is not clean. Then the general maintenance is not up to standard. Notwithstanding this we enjoyed it tremendously. Officials very friendly and helpfull.

Ive been here so many times. You can catch a glimpse of animals like the girraffe, rhino, wildebeest and ostrich. I love Noka, we can chill there in the Bush scenery eat feast while watching animals pass by. I do love the caravan area too.
Madikwe Game Reserve is a vast protected area that serves as a habitat for elephants, lions, and cheetahs. It spans 760 sq km of bushveld, savannah grassland and riverine forest on the edge of the Kalahari. Madikwe offers incredible wildlife watching opportunities to spot the Big Five while enjoying luxurious lodging in charming red sand and clay-thorn bushveld surroundings that are free from malaria.
Excellent experience for the whole family. Small differences in species in the East (river) and West part. To explore the other side is a day trip, instead of two at one side. Not a bad idea to move from one lodge to another during your stay to see more animals. Great communication of guides in the park significantly increases chances to see what you look for.

Fantastic Game reserve an hour or so Outside of Gaborone, Botswana. We stayed at Tau lodge, booked last minute (week before) and paid a good price in November.
Great experience overall, twice daily game drives (6a and 4p) with great and experienced staff who really care about curating your experience. Stayed for two nights, saw the big 5 and African dogs on 3 safaris- great luck. Good food and accommodations at Tau, right on a watering hole that is teeming with animals during the dry season. Would visit again.

Spectacular uninterrupted breathtaking views of nature where you get to experience the Big 5 in action. Rare sightings of leopard so if spotted is a really special moment. The evenings and early mornings are when the bush really comes to life as you get to hear the roaring lions and callings from the hyenas. Birdwatching is also big in the reserve with a variety of species to view. It is worth a visit!

A fantastic park, unfortunately a bit expensive as there are not so many hotels, but this is even better for the animals :-)
If you are lucky you can see the charming wild dogs, this is a unique experience. We really enjoyed the 6 nights and we would definitely go again. Can also be visited with children as it has no malaria.

5 Stars - Definitely a must go when you are in South Africa! This is a relatively new park, turned from farmland in 1991 occupying areas as big as around 70% of Hong Kong. It’s not the biggest in South Africa but to be honest who could finish exploring the whole park if you only stay for say a week? The park is less well known than the most famous one but it truly is a hidden gem given its animal variety and the professional rangers/workers/staff. Believe me - the experience of escaping from a huge city and staying at a safari dedicating the time to track animals and just watch them doing the same things repeatedly do provokes a lot of thinking and reflection.

Pilanesberg National Park is a vast game reserve spanning over 550 square kilometers and home to more than 7000 animals. The park is situated in an eroded alkaline crater between the Kalahari and wet lowveld vegetation, providing a picturesque setting for viewing South African wildlife such as lions and buffaloes. Originally designed as a weekend escape for city dwellers, Pilanesberg remains a popular destination for day-trippers seeking to explore the park's natural beauty.
My second trip and really worth the trip, beautiful landscapes and saw many different animals. There are lookout points with clean toilets which is the only place permitted to get out of your vehicle due to the wild animals. I can't wait to go again.

My partner and I had such a good time (self-drive) at the park although it took us hours to see anything but at the end patience worked in our favour. I am definitely going back for a game drive. I just wish some of the roads can be fixed and the toilets inside the park be cleaned regularly.
Maria Mokoena — Google review
Beautiful quite game reserve with some great game and stunning birds. A reasonable drive from Joburg with upmarket accommodations just outside the park. Only major negative is that the roads can be worse for wear which can be tough especially on the dirt roads in a car.
Gidi Fihrer — Google review
Good park with good game viewing although a little sparse. I recommend getting out the car at all the viewing sites. Great bird life and unique landscapes.

I would recommend it to everyone; the experience was great. we were a group of 9. We saw lots of elephants and both black and white rhinos, along with rhinos. The restaurant area is so cool because you still get a good view to spot animals.
Bring drinks for the drive, but water is provided, which i am absolutely grateful for as it was kept cold in the cooler.

Beautiful park with endless animal sightings. Had a very close encounter with elephants which was amazing! It's rich in bird life and we were lucky enough to spot so many animals only the leopard remained elusive. Lunch was nice, had a tasty ostrich burger while still enjoying wildlife from the resturant! This park is definitely worth visiting its truly a gem
Lerato Mkwanazi — Google review
The scenery is breathtaking and patience rewards the game viewer. There is however an air of neglect regarding maintenance and standards at the facilities. How different the reserve would be if some thought was applied to making the experience more tourist friendly. More effective management would make the place more desirable and more people would visit and more money would be spent.

Early 5:00 a.m. morning Safari It's chilly but definitely beautiful. I was able to capture some sunrises and sun settings. The animals were exceptionally a lifetime experience and I am so grateful I was able to experience it. The tour guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and I thank them all.
Brook Roberson — Google review
The park is quite large and has a lot of roads to try. There are more than enough animals to see. I saw most of the big 5. The conservation fee is minimal to get into the park.

Very, very nice park.... we went in there 3 times in 2 days and every time a different track and a lot and great variety of animals....

Thank you very much to my colleagues for arranging this trip before I return to my home country. Pilanesberg is a very worthwhile park to visit, where you can see animals such as elephants, giraffes, and zebras. You can enter the park in an off-road vehicle, and many animals pass by. You can observe up close, which is really an exciting experience.
Jinhong Lin — Google review
Brilliant national park! Pilanesberg has clean restrooms at all the bird hides, all the roads are in a fine condition after all the rain (they are currently fixing potholes), the animals are beautiful and healthy.
It is well priced for day visitors.
Charlene Cilliers — Google review
I absolutely love this place. If you love safari, I would recommend this place over Kruger National Park any day.
Instead of being faced by ridiculous prices and long drives just to see nothing. You'll find this place booming with wildlife!
You'll have a great chance of seeing the Big 5, and it's close to Sun City if you have an itch to go to the casino!
Reasonable prices, great facilities, and a park that caters to wildlife enthusiasts! What more do you want?
The only thing to be careful with is the overpriced "African" art produced by factories elsewhere being constantly pushed on you at the gates. It's a huge scam for your money so be careful! Rather, support the park by buying inside!

Amazing and surreal experience, seeing all these animals in their natural habitat, we went for the early morning before sunrise tour and lemme tell it was so cold specially cuz it was winters too so carry gloves and a nice beanie or something to cover yourself, and we were lucky enough to spot 4/5 Big Fives, and I also lost my airpods while trying to photograph them beauties but that's on me😂🥲, go for either sunrise or sunset, its amazing

Thank you for the mahala week offer. We had a lovely drive and saw various animals. Pitty the 2nd year not seeing any lions. Had a lovely pick nick at one of the water holes. The shop is just overpriced.

The most fantastic hotel I have ever stayed at. Great and considerate staff. Wonderful food. And the zebra, monkey's and giraffe wandering wild around the grounds was a sight to see. Would definitely recommend this hotel

It was our lucky day, we saw the big five in 3 hours! And saw three of them in 45 min. It was very nice and the tour guide was very nice and friendly, I would definitely recommend coming.

Amazing game drive in your own vehicle allows you to watch all the animals in your own time. It's definitely worth visiting

This poor park is in a dire situation, the roads all need to be redone. A fire took out half of the accommodation. There is no signal to pay anything by card at the restaurants etc. They had a drain leak, no electricity for long periods and the campsite ablutions are in a bad state. The wildlife is still there and some good sightings can be achieved.

Fabulous park with wonderful scenery and knowledgeable guides. We saw so many animals we lost count around 50 species. The highlights were the elephants, lions and zebra.

An incredible national park for the safari lover. We were blessed to see some of the amazing animals throughout the park during the entire trip. This was bucket list stuff!
The Valley of Waves is an exciting water park that features a lazy river, thrilling slides, wave pool and children's area with lifeguards. It offers a wonderful experience for families looking for fun outings. Visitors are advised to try out every water slide, and they can keep their small valuables safe by renting lockers (cash only) or umbrellas. Payment at the park is made using cards only when purchasing snacks or food.
Best place for family, kids love the waves.
It is very clean. There is Steers and Brew Monkey if you need something to eat or drink.
NB: no alcohol allowed on the beach there are designated area.
If you forgot your towel don't worry they have a rental shop where you can rent clean towels and lockers, Lots of entertainment and fun
Mimi Schalk — Google review
I found the location to be quite delightful and rejuvenating. My family and I were able to experience all of the available rides and particularly enjoyed the lazy river.
It's worth noting that when renting a locker, only cash is accepted. The Family locker is priced at R350 including a R100 refundable deposit and the standard locker is R250 also with refundable deposit.
We left most of our belongings in the beach area and were pleased to find them untouched upon our departure.
I would like to extend my appreciation to the lifeguards on duty for their diligence and commitment to ensuring the safety of all guests.

Great place. We had so much fun. I just wish there could be a heated pool for the young ones. The water does get to be a bit cold at times. Other than that we had fun. The life guards by the slides where so helpful. Also it should be noted that visiting during weekdays is best as it gets crowded over the weekend.

Amazing fun, the wave pool was so nice, but I went in the wrong month 😂, the water was freezing but it was still fun nonetheless nice Ambience and I like the sand they used too, gave it a nice artificial realistic beach kinda vibe too and the slides too were really fun

Absolutely Gorgeous! It never disappoints. Went with Friends last year and Family this and it still had the same effect. Totally enjoyed my day visit and will certainly be making it a norm yearly. Totally worth the visit without a doubt! Oh I love the greenery too!

First time and had fun with family. What an experience to be in a huge swimming pool with waves. Everything is money in the valley of waves. From the umbrella you hire and to get a nice spot on the beach you need to be there early as there was first come first basis for other items on the day. Need to go again.

Enjoyed the hospitality and service at the resort. Very friendly staff all around.
We had some requests to the room booking and it was easily adjusted for us with no issues.
Other then that its always a fun experience at the Valley of the waves wirh lots of memories to be made with family

R450 entrance fee is steep and food is expensive. No food or drinks may be taken in.
It’s a most enjoyable day though! Sand is quite rough but the wave is good fun and the water slides are excellent - from gentle to blow your hair back!!

Best place to be anytime of the year. Feels like you on an island 🏝 There's a bar, some restaurants, zip line, slides, tube floats and more. It's just a vibe.

Valley of the waves was one of the fun sites that I visited on my trip to the Sun City resort in South Africa.
It has the beach feel with animals crafted from rock/mud and some satisfying sound playing subtly in the background.
It's an amazing place to visit with friends and family.
There's a lot to eat and drink too.
Different water bodies and a pool that I believe has artificial waves.
Overall, it's an experience that I would love to have again!
Utman Olanrewaju — Google review
Wonderful Experience!!! Enjoyed every moment at the valley of the waves. Ensure you try out every body and tube water slide. Highly recommended for a fun family outing, Safe lockers available for small valuables, also beach umbrella's available to rent... ensure you carry Cash and your Cards regarding for payment as to rent a locker/umbrella cash is required and to purchase general snacks or food cards only are used for payment. Another tip would be to have a water proof action camera to capture your fun moments in the water riding some waves or trying out the water slides.

When the sun is out and you want to play as a family, this is the place to go. Sun City truly is a world within a city. So much to do; Valley of Waves, water slides, water skiing, quad biking, garden walks, etc. Bit pricey for a day visit though (R450 for adults and R350 for children up to 12years old in October 2022). The fee did include about R80 per person food voucher that can be used in the restaurants. Lots of parking available.

The Valley of the waves has always been a have-to-do at Sun City. Love the excitement. The swimming pool at the Reception Area is always nice and loved having a quick lunch there. Enjoyable 😊

Loved, loved, loved 🥰 this place. One of the best man-made beaches I have seen. It’s well thought through with the ancient/ lost city feel. We loved the maze though the bridge was a bit too wobbly for those with height issues. Not sure about the cement floor at the valley of waves because our girls kept scraping their hands, elbows and all. We didn’t want to leave. The waves were intermittent at some points though.

Had the best birthday celebration ever. We went there to celebrate my birthday and it was a blast as I love playing in the water. I'm definitely going back again

We had a wonderful day! Feet were painful. Some steps at the super tube rides lost its surface.from.erosion through the years. The beach sand felt like pebbles under our soles at the end of the day. Most of the shops were closed as well as the beach bar.
Wish we knew about the hiking trails earlier on and that you don't particularly need hiking equipment to follow the trails. We discovered the Royal Baths, which we never saw, and some other parts we never knew existed.
We also missed out o the actual waves. We found ourselves always out of the water when it came. Wish there was a timetable of some.sorts so we can know. Even though it is said every 90 minutes, it felt longer.

Spent a few hours here with my family at the water park and due to low season we were able to ride the slides to our hearts content. No lines. The wave pool was fun. The entrance to Valley of the waves is really spectacular. There are lots of dining options before you go into the Valley of the Waves. They will give you a stamp to go in and out. Definitely worth visiting.

A great day out for family entertainment, it provides something for all ages.
Various rides for the adrenaline junkies through to relaxing rides for the whole family.
The wave pool provides for a sense of the sea hundreds of kilometres from the Indian Ocean.
Can get really busy so recommend visiting during the week.

Great fun for the whole family.
The main feature is the huge wave pool, but there are plenty of water slides and other attractions, as well as access to the Sun City entertainment centre.
The huge wave pool is surrounded by a large forest with plenty of trails to explore.
An absolute must see.
John Craig — Google review
Was a great day out for both kids and adults. Would recommend investing in wet shoes as the ground gets super hot as you walking between rides. It was crowded when we visited as it was during the festive season, was a manageable crowd. If you come during busy season, arrive early to get a spot that allows for shade or be prepared to rent umbrellas during the hot season. Prices for food are a tad exorbitant (expected), you do however get a voucher (below R100) when you buy a ticket so that ar least helps with meals and snacks. Book ahead of time during peak season as tickets sell out rather quickly. Would definitely go back, perhaps during quiet time. Waiting time for the rides was actually not long, also depending which ride you want to get on. Wave pool was a favorite all-round, everyone was friendly and helpful...even played water volleyball as people waited for the big waves.
Mmaphuti Moholola — Google review
Amazing, fun for the whole family, whether you are old or young, you are guaranteed to enjoy. There is a variety of water activities, from the waves at the main beach to water slides and much more.
There are various food outlets, including vendors, so there is no need to leave the premises if you want to enjoy a snack or meal after or before swimming.
They do, however, only accept card payments and not physical cash.

Very fancy, & a great atmosphere with a lot of friendly company-wide & great staff. There is various things to do. Very expensive to be honest, but worth the time to get away & enjoy with friends & family. I highly recommend Sun City.

One of the all time favorites for anyone based in Gauteng. Core memories if you came here as a child too
I always enjoy coming for a day visit to Sun City and Valley of the Waves. It never fails to deliver. It's clean, well run (especially by the slides). By the slides it's run well as everyone is insured a turn. No hogging of tubes either
Food places are a bit limited and not the best in my opinion (Steers and Wimpy, like really?)
And a great vibe as always
Although the greater part of Sun City has been showing it needs some TLC
Also, the Sky Train? That's been out of commission for how many years now?
The Sun City Resort offers refined accommodations with access to outdoor pools, two water parks, and various dining options. The staff is friendly and respectful, ensuring a pleasant stay. The Valley of Waves offers an enjoyable experience for guests. The breakfast is exquisite and the service excellent. Cabanas are used as a base for guests and offer more than adequate rooms with numerous channels on the big screen television. Shuttle vehicles make getting around the resort easy, making it hard to leave this wonderful destination.
We used Cabanas as our base. What a lovely surprise. The staff were fantastic. Although only breakfast is offered (05h30 to 11h30), it was comprehensive enough to last you through 24 hours. The rooms were more than adequate. Moving around the whole resort is served by a wonderful array of shuttle vehicles. We didn't want to leave.

It was incredibly quiet when we went during school holidays. Probably because the general entrance fee for Sun City has increased dramatically, now R395 per adult. It includes R80 meal voucher and access to The Valley of the Waves but compared to the R80 entrance fee a couple of years ago… still lovely place and first time we saw the Lost City which was amazing. The casino was very small and limited. Also very quiet.

Stayed at the Cabanas. Beautiful room at the lakeside. Just a little note though carry your own shampoo. They still provide soap and shower gel but not the shampoo.
The air conditioning in the Casino was either off or not working, so it was really uncomfortable. I guess that worked in our favour as we were forced to spend a lot less time in the Casino.

Check what events are hosted before booking!!
I absolutely love the Palace. It’s one of my favourite places on earth! African splendour at its finest. The staff is exceptional! The service is the best!!
BUT please check if any events are hosted at Sun City before booking and coming here!
I am currently lying in a beautiful pool facing room and the music playing at another hotel/Valley of Waves has been disturbing for 3 nights!! My toddler just woke up screaming as it’s sounds like WW3 with fireworks going off!! As The Palace sits on the hill, everything can be heard and seen from here.
Relaxing at the Palace Pool was a disaster today. People drunk, smoking and some women lying with bare breasts hanging out for all to see. AT THE PALACE!! The smell of weed made us so sick, our whole family (which we brought here for their first time) had to pack up and leave!!!
This is our 3rd time here THIS YEAR ALONE in 2023. We have been regular guests since Feb 2021.
It’s disgusting that this type of behaviour is allowed at The Palace. Can Sin (yes sin not sun) City please not allow these events’ guests to book at the Palace? We decided to leave the Palace grounds to have dinner somewhere else and one of the Palace guests drove around in his Lamborghini, kids in the car and drinking straight Jagermeister out of the bottle while driving.
What is happening to this place?!
I truly feel sorry for staff working here as I also witnessed them being harassed by these guests.
We will be coming again in Feb 2024. As regular Palace guests, I hope this will not happen again

A Stellar Five-Star Experience at Sun City Resort
My recent visit to Sun City Resort left me utterly impressed and thoroughly satisfied, deserving nothing less than a glowing five-star review. Nestled in the heart of South Africa's North West province, this iconic destination offers a blend of luxury, entertainment, and adventure that surpassed all expectations.
Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the resort's grandeur and beauty. The lush tropical gardens, shimmering pools, and stunning architecture created an atmosphere of relaxation and indulgence. The warm welcome from the staff further enhanced the experience, making me feel like a valued guest from the moment I stepped foot on the property.
Accommodation at Sun City Resort is nothing short of luxurious. I had the pleasure of staying in one of their beautifully appointed rooms, complete with modern amenities and elegant furnishings. Whether lounging on the plush bedding, soaking in the bathtub, or admiring the views from the private balcony, every moment spent in my room was pure bliss.
One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible variety of entertainment options available at Sun City Resort. From world-class casinos and vibrant nightlife to thrilling water parks and championship golf courses, there was never a dull moment. Whether I was seeking relaxation or adventure, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

I don't have proper words to describe our stay there. We had a wonderful time and people there were friendly and respectful. Fabulous setting. The Palace is amazing. Opulence personified.
Fine dining options are not good which is surprising in view of everything else on offer. Most are fast food orientated, ideal for families but not those adults with. a more discerning palette. Don't get me wrong it's ll edible but disappointing.
Would not rush back.

The architecture is simply amazing. I am constantly in awe of the detail, creativity, and beauty of the buildings and entire grounds.
We had no idea before we went just how huge it was and how much there was to do there.
We had two days at Sun City but could have spent longer there and still would not have managed to do everything.
We loved the Valley of the Waves and that we could go as many times as we liked during our stay. We liked that there are shuttle buses to take you to various places.

We were staying specifically at Cabanas and shared photos of some views. Overall, we had a good time, thank you. I do think the rooms for that price is fairly standard. The view is however stunning. There are areas of maintenance like all places. The music by the pool is extremely loud.
Sun City was great. We love the central part of the restaurants and grateful that Spur has a play area for little kids. The arcade is also super clean. Well done! We were very quick in by the Valley of Waves, where we enjoyed the Lazy River and child Adventure area.

The resort is absolutely beautiful it has great room service. It is child friendly, and it does not allow pets to make this resort absolutely amazing because it is quite accommodating to most people it might upset pet owners who like taking their pets with them on vacation, but i notice this rule is protect everyone and make sure they all have a five star experience because you can not control animals a hundred percent so them not being prohibited from the establishment was a good the resort is a perfect place for a to take a holiday
It has all kinds of entertainment for different kinds of people and for such a beautiful place its prices are quite affordable

Suncity is absolutely a stunning place.
The views, it’s clean, & the activities are so much fun.
The shuttle services take long but I loved the feature.
There is genuinely a lot of fun stuff to do.
We booked in the Cabana’s and the staff there is unfriendly. Almost as if they being forced to serve us & not helpful at all.
On arrival the lady at reception didn’t not want to give us a porter for our luggage. We literally had to call someone who just came back from assisting another family to help us take our luggage down to our rooms.
There was no hot water!
We kept complaining, and all they could tell us is that they going to refer it to maintenance but nothing was ever resolved.
How terrible is it to be swimming all day and not being able to take a hot shower after a full day of activities.
When we went up to eat breakfast, the woman who was checking our cards was so disrespectful and failed to assist us, baring in mind that I was with my 90 year old granny.
The management at the Cabana’s really need to step up their service delivery

Ordered room service the food was not so good.
The conference room was very cold even though we requested several times to adjust it, it was still the same.
The food at the conference centre was top class and the service was excellent they know how to cater for large groups.
Bathrooms at the conference centre were very clean and well kept throughout the duration.

Rooms in the palace need a upgrade. Service was good but had no kids facilities or activities on site which is not acceptable at this price point. Beautiful experience. Beautiful scenery. Enough for every age group to do. Fun activities. Would have been a 5 star however the roads going to the place were horrible. And 6/8 people we travelled with ended up getting sick either with a tummy bug or viral bug.

We enjoyed every single day we spent there especially at the valley of waves. The breakfast was exquisite, not to mention the service which was excellent. The room was beautiful with a big screen television with lots of channels.

First time being here via a work trip. As a Durbanite, I LOVED THIS PLACE 🙌🏾👌🏾😭😭 the cabanas smell like the ocean, it's so quiet as night, everyone respects everyone's privacy. The shuttle service!!?? EXCEPTIONAL drivers and resort staff. Please I will come back!!. The Rangers, the group activity, PLEASE EVERYONE WAS ON POINT. The children probably felt the safest. This place is AMAZING 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💁🏾♀️💁🏾♀️💁🏾♀️🙇🏾♀️🙇🏾♀️🍾✨️🍾

A fun place for relaxation for adults and kids. The valley of waves is fun for all and there are more activities within the resort one can experience. The golf park is amazing with a beautiful spa (amazing service), a maze that creates a wonder of exploration.

Stunning week spent at the vacation club chalets. I can't find fault with anything. The rooms were spacious, fresh linen, and the kitchen fully equipped. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The Gatsby spa was one of many highlights during my stay. I totally loved the vibey atmosphere at the entertainment center and absolutely loved the valley of waves. The shuttle staff were super helpful when we needed to get around. A great experience all round!

Went to play some golf, absolutely beautiful course with great service and value. The rest of the resort was more enjoyable in the off-peak times than in peak times. Due to the fact that Sun City is so popular it can get quite busy.
LUKAS SCHEEPERS — Google review

We were received by friendly people, the general vibe was exuberant. The breakfast was delicious. Lots to do, a wide variety of restaurants. The premises around Sun City are very beautiful you can go for long relaxing strolls and swims. A real go-to place for a quick break away.

Stayed at the Sun Vacation Club.
It's a home away from home with all the amenities in your accommodation.
Excellent service from the cleaning staff.
Plenty of activities for all ages.

It depends where you booked your accommodation. My first visit was at the Cascade it was excellent but now booked SOHO.
SOHO accommodation is not as clean as expected. The bathroom and toilet were not clean. Needs improvement, though I complained little was done to clean up the place to my satisfaction.
Ordered room service the food was not so good.
The conference room was very cold even though we requested several times to adjust it, it was still the same.
The food at the conference centre was top class and the service was excellent they know how to cater for large groups.
Bathrooms at the conference centre were very clean and well kept throughout the duration.
SOHO Breakfast was also excellent and service exceptional excellent.

It is still a magical place. Unfortunately no one informed us that our visit would be during the "Sun City Takeover".
Drunk and promiscuous people everywhere. Not conducive to a relaxing family weekend. I emplore Sun City management to inform families when booking over the "Sun City Takeover." The choice/ info would have been nice.
Eduan Van Der Walt — Google review
It was beautiful and quiet. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was great. The shuttles moved around often and efficiently. This made it easier to move around the resort with children.
Nyasha Vambe — Google review
Rooms in the palace need a upgrade. Service was good but had no kids facilities or activities on site which is not acceptable at this price point. A full kids program and safe environment near their parents with trained minders is desperately needed to make it a acceptable destination and give parents a proper break.
Lance Kibel — Google review
Beautiful experience. Beautiful scenery. Enough for every age group to do. Fun activities. Would have been a 5 star however the roads going to the place were horrible. And 6/8 people we travelled with ended up getting sick either with a tummy bug or viral bug. Not sure if it might be the water (pools or at the valley)or the food but that was definitely the down side to our trip.
Karishka Singh — Google review
Rooms: 4 stars - Stayed at the Cascades. The rooms are a bit old, but still comfortable. Had a problem with the shower, but it was fixed quickly without any fuss.
Service: 5 stars - The staff are brilliant, always helpful and sorted out my issue fast.
Location: 5 stars - The resort is surrounded by beautiful nature. Just a heads-up, the roads leading to the resort have lots of potholes.
Food and Fun: There's a great choice of places to eat and lots of fun stuff to do, but some cost extra.
Overall: Sun City's a bit old and some things, like the Sky Train, don't work. But they're working on making it better all the time. It's a great place that's well worth a visit.

Service isn't the problem, sun city staff trying their hardest to keep clients happy but can't even get a drink at 4am in the morning when gambling, because of their rules and regulations. It's a resort why wait till the weekend, only 24 hrs then very disappointed birthday girl.

I loved visiting this sanctuary. The staff was so friendly. Ask for a tour guide and they will tell you many interesting facts. You are very close to the crocidles and will see over 100!!!
The feeding time is at 4:30 pm. They will show you how the crocidles hunt for food and how they jump out of water !!
Definitely stop by here !!

Value for money experience, with friendly and informative staff to guide and teach about the crocodile life. You will get to see the feeding, the young ones and the oldest which is 93 years old today. Learn about their movements, speed in and out of the water and how long can they survive without food in and out of the water.

I could not find the place according to the Google Maps search. No other clear directions.
Laid-back rooms & a suite, plus a relaxed restaurant, a spa, an outdoor pool & a predator park.
A superb viewing and interaction experience that has been my best so far. I have been to many game reserves and wildlife parks but there is something about this place that makes it unique. I think it may be the animals, they are happy, well fed and this is perceptible throughout the experience. The enclosures and the place in general are well maintained and the personnel are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

Wonderful experience and brilliant family trip: the size of the venue is great where you can see so many different big cats and learn all about them. On nice clear paths with plenty of shade. Options to do interactions with big cats and lemurs. I strongly recommend the lemurs interaction, it was perfect for our toddler and was really magical. The facilities are clean and well kept. An absolutely wonderful experience. Nariz (the owner) took care of the animal imyeractions with the cheetahs and lions. Our guide Biggy was very knowledgeable and experienced. We felt safe at all times while enjoying the interactions with the cubs, hyaena and lemurs as well. The animals are healthy and well cared for. The facility is well maintained, clean and the staff are very friendly. A wonderful day out just outside Rustenburg and well worth the cost. The pricing is very reasonable, the food was good. Due to covid, the menu was reduced to snack baskets with chicken strips, spring rolls, samosaas and chips but was reasonably priced and the portions were filling. I will highly recommend a visit for all animal lovers out there. A great day out for all ages in the family.

Stunning place, very wild and natural.
Lovely exploration to discover beautiful rock pools.
Staff are friendly.
Old school rustic and clean cabins.
The shop at the office could be better stocked with food.
Went for a hike, the pathway wasn’t obvious so we did get lost but the scary part was spotting a massive baboon nearby at the top of a hill in the rocks.
I love being in the wild but that was too close for comfort.
With nowhere to go, we had to think very clearly on how to backtrack from a potentially life death situation.
Thankfully I’ve lived to write this review, it’s stunning but that was dangerous.
We thought we were safe with leaving a burglar bar window open in our cabin but the monkey entourage invaded by sending a baby monkey in. It’s true, monkeys like bananas and milk tarts etc, and they don’t like pineapples although they’ll have a go!
Lovely place and I’d like to go back, but need to rethink the hiking trail bit.

Tranquility. Silence. Close to nature. Absolutely STUNNING rock formations and river pools.
Challenging walks to some of the different sites (especially if you're unfit) but SO absolutely worth it.
Old school but clean ablutions.
Some hiking trails were unfortunately unaccessable due to overgrown vegetation. Monkeys a little bit of a nucance but hey, that's nature.

Simply my favorite spot to go camping. Nice sites with ample shade and everything is always well maintained. The rock pools are the best place to cool down after a walk in the heat of summer and there are so many to choose from. There's endless exploration in the rock formations as well as the gorge hike. A short hike about 2km (or 30 mins) walk to the pool. Make sure you confirm directions before you take off, and then you should be fine (its easy to get lost if you're not sure). When you get to the actual pool, there's a bit of a rock climbing involved, but completely worth it!

Skydiving with Johannesburg Skydiving Club was an unforgettable adventure that surpassed all expectations. From the moment I arrived at their club, I was greeted with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a passion for skydiving that was infectious.
Safety was of paramount importance at Johannesburg Skydiving Club, and their meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive safety protocols instilled confidence in me as I prepared for my jump. The thorough pre-jump briefing provided me with the necessary knowledge and assurance to fully embrace the experience.
The dive itself was an absolute thrill. As I soared through the Johannesburg skies, the rush of adrenaline was matched only by the breathtaking views of the city below. It was a moment of pure exhilaration and freedom that I'll never forget.
The instructors at Johannesburg Skydiving Club were not only highly skilled but also incredibly supportive and encouraging. Their expertise and passion for the sport were evident in every aspect of the dive, making the experience both safe and enjoyable.
Descending back to earth, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude for the opportunity to witness Johannesburg from such incredible heights. It's an experience that left me with memories to last a lifetime.
Whether you're a seasoned skydiver or a first-timer, Johannesburg Skydiving Club offers an adventure that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the skies above. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking an adrenaline-fueled thrill and a chance to experience the beauty of Johannesburg from a whole new perspective. I had a wonderful experience, worth going back to. The people where friendly and well informed. I had no hustles booking and the response time was tremendously quick. They do provide transport services, which you book separate to the skydiving costs. They have a bar and chill area there. I would advise to bring your own food incase you're hungry. Bath and change are available. The dive is 11 000ft, with a trained professional attached to you. You can have the normal package where the use a hand held camera, or top up for an option to have an additional external camera man capture you at different shots. This place is definitely worth every penny. I am happy. Getting there via public transportation (taxi) is all cool, but there is not private transport around the CarltonVille area to then transport you directly to the sky diving area.

Was planning to do a tandem for my family and canceled due to their plane having issues. They said they would refund me, but after numerous emails to Alison, still no refund. Happy to take my money, clearly not happy to refund even though they canceled. Very bad experience. Hopefully the shoots will be more reliable for any future customers.
The UKUTULA Lodge & Game Reserve is an elegant resort that provides charming thatched cottages complete with fully equipped kitchens, as well as a lovely outdoor pool and a fantastic restaurant. The lodge also offers exciting opportunities to interact with baby lions, making it a must-try experience for anyone's bucket list.
This was by far one of the best experiences I have ever enjoyed. The cheetahs would start purring immediately when they saw their handlers. And the big lions would rub up against the handlers too. IF these animals were being mistreated, in any way they would not act like that. These animals are loved, and well taken care of. We will be returning as soon as possible. For any animal lover, and especially those who love cats. It’s a must see lodge.

DO NOT SUPPORT animal tourism. This is not ethical- think about it! You’re paying money to a company that is breeding lions and raising them in captivity. The cubs are taken away from their mom so YOU can play with them?! This is inhumane and their way of selling is as a wildlife conservation is a fraud. Please research yourself why walking with lions and playing with cubs isn’t good for the animals.
Do not take what they say at face value!
I understand it’s very tempting to have the opportunity to pet or play with a cub or walk with a lion “looks cool” and “it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity” but these wild animals deserve to be free. They will never be able to be free after being born in captivity- NEVER.
It’s all done so we can take pictures and they can make money. DO NOT CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS PLEASE.

I wasn’t convinced. Walking with lions just doesn’t seem ethical, along with all the other caged animals. Is this place really just a Lion breeding factory for canned hunting? They will never admit it but if there’s anything I do know is that humans should not be interacting with wildlife like they do at this establishment. There’s something off about this place.
In response to your message below, I have in fact been to your facility. I guess because I reside in the US it means I’m unable to get on a plane and fly to Johannesburg. As a matter of fact I was there on December 12, 2021. Check your records.

To walk with the lions, caress a cheetah and lion cubs was an experience you can never forget. Learning about the conservation efforts needed to protect the lions was so informative. An amazing experience.

This is a private reserve in SouthAfrica. You can experience special time! Especially, I recommend walking tour with lions. It costs R860 per adult for an hour. I felt a bit short, but it was unforgettable experience.

The place itself is scenic and has some activities. The rooms as well are quite decent. However there were a few things that had me perturbed. Firstly our booking payment wasn’t confirmed prior to check in, we were called after we checked out and had to drive back all the way to get it sorted. Also there aren’t many food choices… so I would advise anyone coming here to bring their own food-my own preference. If you do decide to have breakfast here just know that it is not a buffet. And just a heads up…there’s a gravel road leading up to the lodge… also after entering the gate you will still drive quite a distance to get to reception.. as is expected because it’s a large veld with animals

Our guide at Ukutula told us to visit Ukutula to make up our own minds about this place - and this is what I did. If this lodge would only offer educational tours, cheetah interactions and lion walks with adult lions, I would not criticise them. Nevertheless, the greenwashing that is done at this place is nasty and embarrassing. The owner apparently invested R6 million into their research center for artificial inseminations etc. apparently for conservation purposes to inseminate wild lionesses with sperm of "genetically superior lions". Now, we are not at a stage, where the genetic pool of wild lions is too small and also where does the money for investing such large sums come from? Certainly not from conservation. They probably sell their genetic material to other breeders to create beautiful lions (that are large and have big manes) just to be shot by hunters. The worst thing about Ukutula is that they offer cub interactions with juvenile lions. The 2 lion cubs that I saw where bought from other breeders, meaning that they support that business. This is NOT conservation!!! And when asked where they will end up, they say, the lions will stay on the facility. But now the maths doesn't add up. Having several cubs at least twice a year would amount to much more lions than they have at Ukutula. So, they do sell them and who knows where those lions then end up. The employees were dodging my critical questions and they are manipulating you by saying: we will tell you anything and show you how transparent we are! When I saw the research center on a Saturday, 2 volunteers were sitting behind microscopes, acting as if they are writing down things. Now that was just absolutely ridiculous and anyone, who has a bit of a brain, will see that this was as fake as one can be. It is a shame that Ukutula lost the opportunity to be a good and ethical wildlife sanctuary. Also, the enclosures of leopards, servals, hyenas and caracals were a joke - they were very small and poorly equipped. Why did the R6 million not go into the animal's welfare? Because it doesn't generate a profit..
The animals in general look in good condition and shape though. So, I do believe that they take good care of the ones that stay on the farm, but as long as cub interactions are offered you cannot call yourself a conservation center. You have so much potential to be better! I mean the whole place is beautiful and the staff is good, but if you love animals, your heart will break when you visit Ukutula.. Once South Africa prohibits the breeding of captive lions, you are forced to become better and more ethical, so I am hoping for that at least..

Hands down one of the greatest days of my life. Went with my girlfriend and just spent the day there. The staff where out standing and the guides top class. They had so much respect for myself and my partner and best friend. They took there time with my lady as she was terrified. My hats go off to all of you. I would like to especially thank Tumi at the lodge. She was nothing less than remarkable. She has a huge future ahead of her. So friendly so helpful. So understanding. The best costumer service I have ever gotten. I truly can not wait to go back. And hope it will be soon. I highly recommend this establishment. And if you go there ask for Tumi. And George and his team to be your guides.
I'll see you again guys. Stay blessed.

We booked a bush walk with the lions and honestly was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
Felt safe with the guides there and the lions were very well behaved. If we come back to South Africa I think a stay here would be an amazing!

I could not recommend Ukutula more highly. The staff were so kind and were helpful in all areas. The braai area was very relaxing and great for large groups as well.
The rooms were nice, cozy and well maintained with a little kitchen if you want to cook but you can also go to the restaurant.
The lion walking was out of this world. Being from Australia we don't have big animals so seeing them up close and so personal was amazing. We were blown away and 110% would definitely do again.
Seeing the tigers, leopards, cheetahs and other animals was amazing as well. The are extremely well looked after and the conservation work they are doing there is next level.
I definitely recommend Ukutula Lodge & Game Reserve!

The tour begins with a talk about the work being done for conservation of the lions and this is important work as the species is endangered in the wild. Obviously this is a bone of contention about whether these types of reserves are good for the lions and other animals. My take on it that with human encroachment into the wild areas, all animals need a few different strategies to prevent the loss of species… and conservation parks like Ukutula have an important part to play in education and understanding. That said the activity of walking with the lions is a heart stopping, exhilarating experience and you definitely feel you are taking your life out of your control. Fortunately the guides are exceptional and are there to protect you and curate the experience. It is however risky because they are wild animals. But what an honour to walk with these majestic creatures. Can’t thank the guides enough. They are masters. The petting with the cheetahs and baby lions is special. There is room for parks such as this to educate and make us fall in love with these animals and therefore fight for their futures. Of course you always hope that the humans attending the sessions are humble enough to listen to the instructions for everyone’s safety… you hope they can forget about the selfies and desire for a response from a big cat, to simply be on alert and enjoy the animals… One of the most memorable experiences of our lives.

A one-of-a-kind place to visit for a truly wonderful experience.
My family stayed for 2 nights.
There are so many things to do! Walking with the lions - an unforgettable experience and photo ops, the Predator Walk, learn about the conservation project (unique to Ukutula) that is helping lions throughout Africa. You'll also get to see tigers and hyenas. You may even get the opportunity to pet a cheetah. Wow!
I was pleased to learn about the education program they have for under privileged children. Teaching the next generation about how to care for wildlife and why it matters.
The grounds are well kept. The chalets are beautifully decorated with all the amenities you may need. There are several swimming pools on-site to help beat the heat. Nice braai reas as well. There is also a lovely restaurant on site with delicious meals.
All of the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. You will feel safe and in good hands.
The owners take pride in the work they do and it shows.

Ukutula is a dream come true… if you want to get up close to lions, this is the place. The reserve is a research center (first in the world to achieve artificial insemination of lions) where male liions are purposefully made accustomed to humans (to enable safer research). This is why “tourists” can get close up. The controversies surrounding this place are a misunderstanding of their mission.
I can recommend the experience wholeheartedly.

Maropeng is a contemporary museum and entertainment complex located at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage site. It features interactive exhibits that chronicle the origins and evolution of humankind, from its earliest beginnings to modern times. The center also houses a new exhibit highlighting Homo naledi, a previously unknown species discovered in 2013 within the Rising Star caves. The building itself boasts an innovative design combining natural elements such as grassy mounds with sleek modern steel finishes.
Truly a wonderful place to visit, the atmosphere was nice and chill, the staff was warm and welcoming. The tour guide truly knocked it out of the park, very knowledgeable, and a natural and interesting presentation of all the information. Engaging.
And the activities were very interactive, great place for all ages, literally! I was quite impressed. We will definitely be visiting again when the caves re-open.

You have to buy tickets online .no cash or cards accepted there. Guide was informed as best he could . It's a pity we were rushed as I did want to question him about his facts. The inside is still in fair condition but they will have to start paying attention to the museum as not everything is working. Boat ride was fun .also they have no proper signage to indicate where to go or exit .we had to go in by ourselves and had no idea once we got out how to get back to the parking . Food options don't even bother .run down with no options and I'm guessing overpriced. They where running a special for R100 which for that amount was worth it . Staff friendly enough

This was my second visit to the visitor center - the first being maybe ten years ago, and while it is still a fabulous venue and well worth the trip out, it is definitely looking a little worn around the edges. Sadly seeing a lot of the fun interactive pieces in the displays not working properly. Did enjoy a lovely toasted sarmie from the cafe at the entrance.

This is one of the most important museums in my opinion that shows the evolution of the Human species. It is located in the so called Cradle of Humankind where some of the oldest hominid fossils have been discovered. The museum is a great idea but unfortunately suffers from a lack of execution. The people who work there I am sure do their best but a lot of the exhibits don’t work, don’t have a very coherent theme so the story of what the museum is about doesn’t come alive. It could have been so much more. I would still highly recommend visiting this museum

A must see if you’re close by and are interested in history, evolution and enjoy museums. R100 for a basic tour and a tube ride underground into a simulated cave that show cases the elements of life.
The caves are flooded at the moment and we were not able to walk through them, which was a bit of a bummer. The guide advised that they might be open end of August for anyone who is keen on that.
There’s some amazing views with a restaurant at the hotel and another food court. There are some shops to purchase merchandise.
I’d like to return to the caves when they’re open.

A must do if you want to give your kids a learning experience. We loved the entire experience complete with human fossils, a walk through time on the elements, a water ride and breathtaking views. Just phone ahead to check if the caves are open as they are susceptible to flooding and may be closed.

This is a great place. The main museum is very child friendly and the new exhibition on the first floor is very interesting and educational.
The only problem is that many of the interactive exhibits need repair.
Jeff Bulled — Google review
The halls are impressive, and beautiful, and the place is clean and tidy. The bathrooms were clean. The staff were friendly and happy to help.
My family found the fossils interesting. Unfortunately, some of the walls with writing were in colours that are very difficult to read. The exhibition rooms could also flow better with more of a logical progression.
The underground raft ride was fun, but it would have been nice to have some explanation along the way as to what the different areas are, otherwise it was a bit abstract.
The reason for the poor rating is because a lot of things were ‘out of order’. And seems like although the place was clean, there is no maintenance. I’m sure with a lot of fixing the experience would be great.

Now this was a mind blowing experience and very informative. Not knowing what you to expect and getting the experience we did at the Cradle of Humankind was very inspiring and a must visit for both adults and children. It's a very educational experience.
Learning about the evolution of man is something we take for granted. Also the tube on the water is absolutely amazing. Traveling through and seeing the different stages of life, ice age, stone age, iron age etc was unreal. Everything is brought to life so beautifully.
If there is anywhere is South Africa that deserves a visit, it is the Maropeng Cradle of Humankind. To those who invented the design structure and entire idea, well done. Truly inspiring

We visited the Maropeng visitor site as a family and educational outing. This was the only option as the Sterkfontein caves are still close due to flooding. The tour was basic and a bit rushed and left you with a feeling of what just happened. Even though the site is 19 years old, the displays seems outdated and most stuff is out of order. Considering the budget allocated to arts and culture is R18.8 billion and the fact they charge you R120 for a toasted cheese sandwich, no ham or bacon, and R23 for a 200ml water, you expect a little more. Lets hope by the time the caves re open, it will not be a disappointment.

There was also an option to have a professional video taken on site, but photos and video are highly encouraged throughout the experience.
The Monkey Sanctuary was equally impressive and featured small breeds like the Capuchin and Squirrel monkey. The guides (#James) and carers are passionate about looking after them and telling their story. An afternoon well spent.

We enjoyed our time here majorly. Booked online and got to do both the Elephant and Monkey interaction. Truly worth the price on their site as we were out the whole day from 10am to about 5pm including the lion park. Here are some photos so you know what to expect.

It was so much fun spending a day as 'caretaker' for both the elephants and the monkeys.
Staff and personel were so kind, shared information and made our day to a memorable and joyfull experience with them and the animals. Thank you so much!
Till we meet again!

A MUST.
The guide was so friendly. The site is incredible, big trees, mountain background.... The interaction with the elephants is magical.
We did the feeding tour. Don't be disappointed as first you will feed the elephants behind a wooden bar but after they will be loose with you and the interaction will be a lifetime experience. The elephants are rescued from being killed from the Kruger park. They are very well treated and they walk freely in a big park after their activities with u. Océane our 3 years old was really impressed and not sacred at all. Louane 1 was impressed and honestly fell asleep as it was her usual nap time.
We went at 10am but you have tours at 8.00 and 14.00. It is pricey but so worth it!
WE LOVED IT and we will be back for sure.

Hartbeespoort Dam Zandfontein, Hartbeespoort, 0216, South Africa
Monkey Sanctuary in Hartbeespoort, South Africa is a privately owned sanctuary that provides guided tours on elevated wooden walkways through natural habitats for rescued primates. The facility is well-maintained and staffed by friendly individuals who ensure the monkeys are comfortable around visitors. However, some visitors have noted that the admission price for feeding time does not always guarantee an individual feeding bucket, which may result in some groups receiving fewer buckets than others despite paying full price.
So this is the place who takes in monkeys that people abandoned as pets ensuring a safe haven for these clever and cute creatures.
Roaming free while you walk through the enclosure with a bucket full of treats that they can come and get from you. Some jump on you and some grab from you - this was a great experience and so much fun!
There are lemurs, squirrel monkeys and capuchin all running around trying to get their share of a treat of popcorn/cat food /fruit and some seeds that you carry in a bucket while walking in a pathway throughout their enclosure. Some very shy/ some mischievous/some scared and all just very cute and clever!
This was truly an awesome experience although you would think it could be boring- it's not!

We loved the experience, a simply must. Although I must say it is quite expensive. The place is well taken care of with very friendly staff. Monkeys is very comfortable with people and have no problem to come up close. One even climbed on me. The only reason for giving only 4 stars is because everybody going in for feeding time pays the same price however not every person gets their own feeding bucked we were 2 and only got 1 and there was a family of 6 and they only got 4 even though all of us paid full price. There is drinks available to buy onnsite at affordable prices. Bathrooms also very clean. And safe parking with a very friendly car guard also there.

Very nice place to see monkeys and elephants. There are a lot of monkeys (mainly Kapuziner and lemurs I think) and 4 elephants in the 2 sections. The monkey tour is about 1 hour long, the elephant tour about 1.5h and you have enough time to ask any questions and take pictures. Even if you don't ask any questions the guides will tell you a lot about the animals which is very nice. Careful with the monkeys, the will try to search your pockets and backpacks so have an eye on them when they're climbing into you (what will most likely happen unless you tell them strictly not to do it, but it is also funny). In the elephant tour there are 3 parts, feeding an elephant, walking with elephants and touching elephants / taking pictures with elephants. Also in larger groups everyone will have a chance to perform the activities which is very nice. All in all I can only recommend going there. If you go with kids plan some time (maybe for a picnic) between the tours as especially the elephant tour also involves some stops where kids (especially when they don't speak English) might feel bored. There is a playground right outside with a picnic table where families can spend some time between the tours

I genuinely enjoyed doing the monkey tour. I opted to be in the feeding group and I was so fun to have the monkeys be comfortable enough to climb on you.

Visited the Monkey Sanctuary on Sunday morning 05/11/2023. Overall a good experience, but incredibly overpriced. Definitely catered more towards tourists than locals. You see most of the monkeys in the beginning of the tour and then its more of a 45 minute hike over a bunch of bridges and through a rockery where you don't see much. Guides are friendly and its great to see the monkeys up close but don't think it is worth R500 per person.

We've lived here for a year and have done numerous animal experiences from safari to feeding baby rhinos. This was easily our favorite yet! The one hour tour was so fun! We immediately were "pickpocketed" by sneaky James; he went full on hands into my wife's purse and managed to grab a folded brochure out of my daughter's pocket. When you feed the monkeys they all jump around the people to get to the food. Our kids loved it, and my wife and I enjoyed it just as much. The guide was so very nice, and you could tell he really loved his job. This will be a place we come back to for sure. We really want to do the day long one with the elephants and the lions.

Im not sure why people are rating the monkey experience as too expensive. Let me tell you its NOT expensive and its really worth it to go and visit them. People need to understand that places like this has massive overheads and are not funded by Gvt or any other institution. The place is clean, the gardens are neat, the animals are well taken care of and the guides are all extremely professional and insightful. The old Capuchin male bit me 🤣. I entered at my own risk. Not making a scene. They are wild animals. Sandra the spider monkey caught a lift on my back and the Lemurs have the most gentle personalities. I adored them. It was my husbands birthday, we were not aware that he could have gotten a free tour though 😭 Overall, it was a great experience.

Amazing. The cave system is huge. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the whole tour on track.
Beware, this can be a physically tough tour. Lots and lots of steps, steep incline and declines and very, very tight squeezes through the tunnel system. Hiking boots or trainers are the only suitable shoes.
This is a magical place. The geology and history of mankind locked in these caves is stunning.
When you exit the cave system, take a moment to appreciate the highveld scenery... It is breathtaking

The cave tour was really nice, something you should definitely do once. Our tour guide was AMAZING, (Think his name was Mfanna) very Historical, knowledgeable and full of fun jokes... Keep up the great service- Even the restaurant and bathrooms were sparkling clean and the food was great! The Museum building that you can walk through before or after your tour is also packed with lots of interesting historical findings.
Spend some time (reading) in the museum before your cave tour because you are a bit tired afterwards to do so. There are ALOT of stairs/steps, some parts of the cave are muddy and other parts are very dusty, but overall I enjoyed it so much.

Must go outing, for those living in Gauteng.
We took our kids for a short trip on Sunday afternoon.
The caves present a different experience to what most outdoor activities in Gauteng have to offer. Going down into a prehistoric cave is a refreshing break, especially for those of us with kids younger than 10.

This was such great fun with a professional friendly guide who took us through the caves and explained everything in detail. There is an area to sit at where one can order food and drinks. Great way to spend a Sunday.
The only thing i did not like is seeing how people litter with their masks and hair nets. Not cool. Throw your litter away and respect our earth.

Impressive caves with a rich history and importance for humanity. Nearly all of the publicly available parts of the cave are lit, the slopes are cut into stairs and the path is covered in thick anti-slippery floor mats.
The cave has many halls of impressive size, with the most impressive perhaps being the Elephant hall.
The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and you are certain to get a good history lecture on the fossils found in the cave.
Bringing children is not a problem, but infants and toddlers will be a bit challenging, though not impossible. They have no toddler-sized helmets and there is one steep and narrow descending passage while leaving the cave which requires you to crunch down while simultaneously holding your child in your arms, which requires some agility and dexterity.
Did not get a chance to do Abseiling and other activities but managed to do River Rafting which was a very great experience but needs lot of energy.Good Job from the head instructor and the team.
Would recommend it and definitely coming back

We decided to take the public holiday and travel to Parys to enjoy some River Rafting with Real Adventures. Our guide, Jappie, was superb the whole way through. He was informative, funny and very helpful. I enjoyed his demeanor. He knew when to chat, explain and reach out while also knowing when to leave the group to enjoy their time on the water.
We felt very safe the entire time. Even when Jappie was explaining what could happen if we fell out of the rafts! The rapids were rather timid and I'd say a bit disappointing but I do understand the rain plays a role in this. It was still tons of fun!
I do think it might be worthwhile to know that you can pack some snacks and water on the raft with a cooler bag that can be attached via D Ring. This is also ideal for sunblock!
Jappie is superb. Cannot rate him highly enough. I also really appreciated him taking photos and them being readily available on the Facebook page!

When reaching out to find out about availability, we were informed that both the Melk Stal and Hoender Hok was available for the weekend we wanted to book for a bachelors.
Deposit was paid three weeks before hand, and all plans were made and bachelors attendees informed.
One week before the bachelors we were informed that there was a double booking, and we no longer have a venue for our bachelors.
Would not recommend to anyone who actually wants to trust that the booking will be kept.

Accessed via stairs & an elevator, this large cavern complex features stalactites & stalagmites.
To this cave, we cannot take ticket alone,it will be a package together with safari with own vehicle or the safari van. Beautiful cave, inside is cold, the steps are too steep and there is a lift to go down. It is a guided tour for 1 hour. iPhone takes pictures well inside

A very interesting natural site within close proximity to the urban edge. The caves are relatively well maintained and the guides are knowledgeable. Definitely the most exhilarating cave tour - the stairs at a 46 deg angle
The metal lift that descended through the canopy of the cave
The tour guide that has so much patients and knowledge made this the most amazing cave for us
Even at 76 - my mom loves every minute of this beautiful cave From the main entrance 87 steps at a 46 degree angle takes you down to the mine elevator. You then drop slowly down a further 18 Metres ( about 6 stories ) to the main cavern! It is an absolute wonder !! The air is fresh. No creatures or plant material at all. It is lit slightly and walkways are easily negotiable but uneven as you go up and down and around them. Railings allow further views down below. Dolomite stalactites and stalagmites visible everywhere. It is an awesome sight. Geologically fascinating ...

A really great family friendly day out. Not a far drive from Johannesburg, loads of animals to see - you see them up close and in families and herds. Really great experience to see predator feeding.
The reptile show was educational and entertaining and the show was hosted by a fantastic female host... I've never seen a female snake handler before. She really was amazing!

A bit pricey compared to other zoos and national game parks but has the best of both worlds as it combines both zoo type enclosures as well as open game drive areas to view animals in natural habitats.
Widest selection of bigs cats i have ever seen, especially ligers which were huge. Also experienced rhino and buffalo very close to our vehicle. White lioness coming directly towards our vehicle was a surreal experience though a bit terrifying at the same time. Variety of leopards in enclosures to be seen along with gorgeous white tigers. Only one of the big 5 we did not see was the elephant. Tons of other animals like ostrich, buck and hippo to see as well a giraffe feeding experience at the restaurant.
Given the price would ensure you spend the entire day there to get the best value as there are many other facilities for kids -play areas, slides etc.

We went to the restaurant, the attraction point is *drum roll* feeding the giraffe😅 while you wait for your meal or after your meal, you have the option to feed the giraffe for R50 (how cool).

Only 40 minutes drive to a game farm that has truly amazing experiences.
Lion, white lion, cheetah, tigers and leopards, to name a small percentage of what we got to see.
The drive in the park can take you the whole day, if you want, with a large picnic area where you can braai.
Definitely worth the drive.
Also an amazing place to take your visitors from out of the country to experience wildlife without leaving the city.

Cars can go for safari here, if you don’t have car then you can choose open safari vehicle. There is a feeding time for lions, wild dogs, cheetahs. There is a cave, visit it. This area is safe. The staffs are friendly. It is completely outside of Johannesburg. While returning it would be tough to get taxis using bolt or uber. There are few restaurants to choose from and a nice view to take pictures. We bought chicken and it was so amazing.

My family had a great time. The kids loved the cable ride. There were restaurants and an ice cream shop at the mountain. Enough places to chill and relax. We enjoyed the short walking trail as well with the amazing views. Our family will definitely be back here.

Its our 2nd time up and still amazing! We arrived at 09h00 on Saturday morning, bought our tickets at the bottom with no hassle. We then received 2x free breakfast vouchers to eat at the top. Most delicious breakfast. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Safe parking at the bottom. Fantastic day spent at the top. Hiking trails available. Clean bathrooms. More than 1 restaurant on top of the mountain. Prices are good. Great outing for the family. Will definitely recommend!

We arrived at 10:00 on a Sunday, bought tickets and went up without waiting. The views are really beautiful but due to it being winter, visibility wasn't as good as it would be on a clear summer's day.
Once at the top, we ordered pizzas and made ourselves comfortable on the bean bags. It was a lovely day that was concluded with delicious ice cream. Upon exiting the parking at around 14:00, the queue to buy tickets was very long and we were thankful we were leaving and not arriving. Overall it was a great experience and good value for money!
Suggestions for the restaurant:
- Please employ more staff or improve your ordering system, since the queue to order got very long (one staff member takes orders and pours drinks - this is not sustainable).
- More seating suitable to an older demographic will be appreciated - chairs with back rests, for example.

Really nice.
Wonderful views.
Very clean and neat, restrooms are also very clean and well maintained.
Great service and chilled vibe when you get to the top with a lovely grassy area with some beanbags to lounge around. Walking trails as well, no trash in sight, very clean.
Plenty of tables and seating areas.
Get there early to avoid queues but more importantly to enjoy more time at top.

By far one of the most beautiful experiences I have had! The view was so beautiful. Went on a weekday so it wasn’t so packed.
The weather in March up the mountain was really cool. So I enjoyed walking the trail and read a bit about the cities up the trail. Will love to do this again and again.
I didn’t go on the zipline but for those who will love to, the skypark is opened and I saw a couple of people enjoying it.
Enjoyed the food as well, the steak was quite tasty!
I did see bees up there but they were harmless, just be on the watch out though!

Awesome day out! System is fairly efficient and the views from the top are amazing. Can get quite busy, which means increased waiting times. We had some pizzas and drinks at the top, which were also top notch.
PS - treat yourself to free entrance on your birthday.

It was a hot windy day but it was certainly still worth while. There was a little bit of a wait but not to bad. They do not accept cash. Staff are helpful and friendly. Some good lookout spots at the top and enough space not to feel crowded by other visitors. Depending on what you decide to do, (perhaps a visit to the spa for a shoulder massage?) you can easily spend a couple of hours just relaxing and taking in the views.

Had a lot of fun on my first visit, the staffs were very cool and helpful. I felt safe all through the cable drive. The restaurants, music and everything activity on the mountain was very entertaining. I will definitely recommend and visit again

This was a really good experience.
We visited this attraction during the week, and it was very pleasant as there were no long queues, not waiting in lines to get a cable car, which I think during the weekends, public holidays and holidays can be quite frustrating.
The place is clean and well looked after.
Once one gets to the top, there are various activities to do and keep yourself busy... for the fellow outdoor and nature lovers, make sure you check it out and book... there's mtb, hiking, rock climbing, and other activities.
There's various restaurants on the top of the mountain and one at the bottom entrance.
This is a fun activity for locals and international tourists, so make sure to go check it out.

A must do when in Harties! Breathtaking views and overall great experience. Getting tickets was fast (cashless system), and the wait to go up the mountain was not that long. Once up you can get a bite to eat, have an ice cold beer(my choice), have a short walk on the trail or just kick back and chill if you want to. Plenty to eat and drink once up and the views are just beautiful. Fun for the whole family and if it's your birthday you can get a free ticket!

Definitely worth going to, the view is magnificent. It is well organised, we did buy tickets in advance but still waited quite some time for our turn. On the day there was a DJ and very loud music was playing which I feel is unnecessary and quite disturbing. Being up on the mountain with only nature is enough.

This is a place suitable for weekend visits, and you can quickly reach the mountaintop by cable car. The scenery above is pleasant and endless, making it perfect for taking photos. In addition, there are various BBQ and local specialty performances on the mountaintop, which is a very good experience.

Took adventure of the birthday special. And scored a free ticket. Everyone is so friendly. The facilities are very clean. The ride is beautiful and scenic. We got stuck halfway down due to loadshedding but we got moving a few minutes after the generators kicked in.

Absolutely incredible! Such a fun and different experience so many incredible places for food and the most breathtaking views. Definitely recommend the open two seater cart for the best experience!

We visited the Ariel cableway early on a normal Saturday morning. I would definitely recommend getting there early if you didn’t buy tickets online (I’m not sure if that is possible tho) We got here right when they opened and we still waited 5/10min to pay. But boy was it worth it!! I did not expect such an amazing view with CLEAN and prestige sitting areas and bathrooms!
The cable cars themselves were okay, not very big and they also felt a bit scary, but that’s just my opinion! :)
The atmosphere at the top was amazing and the food as well as the drinks were delicious! We also really enjoyed the Dassie walk and read through all the information boards provided. I would definitely recommend popping in when you’re in the area!

Being a tourist in your own country is awesome.
Another world class attraction which isn’t marketed nearly good enough. I remember coming here as a kid and it is way better than I remember.
Come for lunch and if it’s your birthday it is a free ride.

The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre is a wildlife park in South Africa that specializes in breeding cheetahs. The center has been extremely successful in this endeavor, and is home to many other exotic animals as well. It is a 45-minute drive from Pretoria and well worth the visit for anyone interested in learning more about wild African creatures.
What a great experience! Saw so many animals up close, absolutely breathtaking.
Leti Pulchartova — Google review
This is a great outing for schools. The centre is a bit run down and their funding is quite tight and it is a NPO. But the range of animals that they have is amazing and you get to see some Aswegen carnivores quite close up apart from the cheetah. They have Hyenas, wild dogs, vultures, caracal etc. The interaction with a cheetah “Julie” is amazing. She jumps on a table and you can hear her purring which is super cool. Overall a decent outing as the guides are well educated and speak about ecology and environmental sustainability.

What an amazing experience and a must see for anyone with a love for cheetahs. There is also wild dogs , vultures and various other animals on site . Photographers will be in their element . They use a lure which the cheetahs chase so you have an opportunity to see the cheetahs in action . You stand behind a low wooden fence so there are no obstructions to get in the way of your camera. The lure is designed in such a way that the cheetahs run away from you and run towards you so its easy to get the action from both sides . The fence is also far enough away so as not to get in the background of your shots. If you go on the game vehicle the cheetah and wild dogs are fed right next to you. Just the experience of the sounds they make is something awesome. The animals are well cared for .

We had an amazing day here.
What a beautiful initiative , to help endangered species.
Our guide Jason was awesome. We learnt so much. Prices were really affordable. This is a none profit organisation, so they rely heavily on sponsorships and tours.
The animals are all well taken care of and the staff were well trained and kind towards them. My family and I had so much fun.
I will definitely return.
The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre – De Wildt (Originally the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre) was the first establishment in the world to breed captive cheetahs on a sustainable basis and was the firstCites approved cheetah breeding facility in the world.
The aim of the Centre is to maintain a viable genetic pool of not only the cheetah but also the African wild dog (second most endangered carnivore in Africa), for release back into their natural habitat as and when space becomes available.

It is an unbelievable place to take the family, and since it is a short drive from Johannesburg, it is perfect for a day outing! We did the walking tour, and it was so informative, and we could see the animals up close. It's definitely worth taking the time to visit!!

This was an absolute amazing experience! You have to put this on your bucketlist! Best experience I had. Samuel was our tour guide and he aced it! He made jokes, kept you interested and never hurried you. He's information was spot on! We went for the cheetah run and guided tour for R480 per person. 3 cheetahs do the run so you have enough time to take the correct and best video. They dont only have cheetahs, there are so much more. During the guided tour we drove on an open vehicle and they fed the wild dogs, hyena and cheetahs. They have vultures and also smaller animals. The animals are in good condition! Perfect for a couple or for the whole family! Best day I had in a long time! Thanks you Cheetah Center.

Established in 1971 by Ann and originally known as the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre, the name was changed in 2010, to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of cheetahs and other rare and endangered species. We enjoyed our tours which were led by Nicole, a knowledgeable guide and we saw a variety of animals including cheetah, King Cheetah, African wild dog, caracal and vultures amongst others! What an amazingly educational experience! The Centre prides itself in its contribution to the conservation and survival of the cheetah species through meticulous breeding (ensuring genetic diversity) and the ability to release captive born cheetahs as and when suitable space becomes available. As a non-profit organisation that receives no government funding, the Centre relies heavily on sponsorship, donations and income generated from tours and the adoption programme! Please visit the centre to experience 1st hand how they are making a huge difference and get memories to last a lifetime! Clean toilets are available on the premises, and don't forget to stop at the shop and make a contribution towards the preservation of the park as well as the cheetahs!

• We booked our tour by email and paid on arrival with Nikki who was very welcoming.
• We toured the centre with Nicole, our guide and driver, and Wilson, who fed the animals and provided extra security. They were both serious and friendly.
• The safety instructions were clear and repeated before entering a new enclosure.
• Nicole is very passionate in telling the residents/rescues individual stories and provided us with extra knowledge on the species we saw! She was attentive to answer everyone’s questions.
• The open safari bus was comfortable even though the dirt roads were bumpy. We were about 8-9 visitors so it didn’t feel overcrowded at all.
• Overall it was a great experience!

What an amazing experience. Our guides Marlene, and Nicole were excellent and so informative and passionate and Wilson thanks too. It was great to see the vultures, wild dogs other wildlife and to experience the cheaters at such a close distance from the safety of our truck. An exciting afternoon we will remember for a long time . Thank you .

I visited Bon-Af Berry Farm as part of a school tour.
We were received on a Monday, and the family welcomed us and made us feel at home.
The learners were educated and they enjoyed walking through the berry field.
Highly recommended, with several berry products which are produced in the farm, are sold at the restaurant.
Do yourself a favour, turn off the N1 and pay a visit to this farm.

Worth a stop in the summer months for Berry Picking. Kids love it here. Visit berry trees and eat all you want with entrance fee. You can also pick berries to take home, these are weighed and paid for. Restaurant with a small menu. The Berry Waffle was great!

We stopped at this place on our way to Parys. But unfortunately it's not the berry picking season. So it's from November up until March or mid April itseems. So next time if you are planning to visit this place just go during the season. Also the staff were very friendly and polite. They even have a small museum of antiques and run a cafe too.

A beautiful berry orchard with Alot of antique on display, a decent seating area.
The entrance fee for all ages is R50 for 40 minutes.
The staff are very friendly, but lack the training of customer service.
The Owner is a racist man that can spoil the excitement.
The maximum time to spend here is approximately 2 hours.
Do try the home berry Jams that are for sale.

Beautiful berry farm. They have a lovely museum which takes you back in time. Great playground for kids. Didn't have time to do the berry tour. Had a look at their little cemetry which was interresting. Ate a berry waffle. Rasberries was a bit to sour for my taste but enjoyed the other berries. Bought a few bottles of jam. So many to choose from. Coffee milkshake was great.

Very interesting museum upstairs.

Very nice outing, our daughter enjoyed it. Just wish they had little bit more berries to pick to make it more fun for our little one. Maybe next time they must just close the place for a bit to help the berries glow before people go and pick.
