Beautiful, relatively private, some good snorkeling on the west side of the island off La Chiva beach. We loved the little pavilions for shade and lunch after swimming out to the island.

Beautiful, secluded beaches and great snorkeling. 100 percent worth visiting. Spent the day on Playa La Chivas. Nice picnic shelters. Rocks on the left of the beach have good snorkeling. Island in the bay also has good snorkeling.
David Eagle — Google review
Some of the best beaches on the island. We loved the fact that there were very few people. Plenty of room to swim and snorkel. Each beach has its own Pavillion, nice shade for a picnic. Don't miss this if you're visiting Vieques.

Great easy hike and beach to ourselves. Swimming was warm and fun.

Great place to visit if you go to Puerto Rico. Take a ferry to Vieques from the main island. Can rent a car or scooter or bike. Great spots for snorkeling. No crowds on the beaches.

So nice! I featured this spot in my youtube video, channel s mr blaha, part 2 of puerto rico is the video!!!!!

Awesome place, so many cool beaches in the reserve. My favorite is probably blue beach / la chiva (shown in pics). It's in my top three beaches on the island with Sun bay (not in reserve) and Green beach (west side of reserve, also shown in last photo). But honestly all the beaches in Vieques are pretty awesome and if you happen to not fall in love with the one you can drive down the road a bit or around the corner and find another. Heck yeah.
Royce Hansen — Google review
Beautiful ecological park on the west side of Vieques. Horses are all over the island but here, private beaches intermingle with a beautiful lagoon. The lagoon has a partially finished boardwalk that used to wind through the mangroves. However, with the destruction that occurred during Maria, the original walk was destroyed as were the mangroves. Today it looks sort of post apocalyptic but beautiful in its own respect.

This place sucked. The inside is closed due to mismanaged funds and the person working the front is more interested in his phone than anything else. Save yourself the trip.
If you do make it to the top of the hill, check out the art gallery across the street. Way better

Wonderful excursion. Best tour guide Jose. Had plenty of time to snorkel and explore.
The sea life was scarce and water not as clear this day, but an adventure for sure.
David Mitchell — Google review
Playa Caracas is my all time favorite beach! Calm, clean & the epitome of tropical beaches. I can't get enough of this beach. Try going out early in the morning to swim and just soak in the magical vibes of Vieques. Newly installed restrooms are a plus. Also, La Chiva is another closer by beauty. The private pull offs give you the feel of being on your own secluded beach.
Tara Leammookda — Google review
We went to the beach, parked at number 12 and it was really awesome. We saw giant hermit crabs that Iguanas. Swam maybe three, four hundred yards out and saw sea turtles, stingrays, starfish, all kinds of fish. It was really beautiful.

Cayo Icacos is a small, unpopulated island in Puerto Rico that offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy boating, snorkeling and relaxing on white-sand beaches. It boasts one of the most stunning beaches with crystal clear waters off the east coast, perfect for snorkeling among coral reefs and tropical fish. In addition to being a great place for water activities, Cayo Icacos also offers visitors a chance to experience a true deserted island.
Beautiful place to explore when visiting Puerto Rico.

Very beautiful spot to check out while in Puerto Rico. I was recently here and fell in love with the colors. There isn't much on here other than swimming and hanging on the beach. I used East Island Excursion to get here. They were amazing. Depending where the boat sets up, it can be challenging to get to the beach. I would definitely be back on my next trip.
Hector Espinoza — Google review
The water is amazing and it’s very close to the main island. It is not recommended to walk inland due to tracks left behind by miners. The beach is “crowded by uninhabited island standards”. We went on a Sunday in late August when tourist season is lower. The water is shallow close to the shore.

So beautiful!! There's nothing there, so pack drinks and food if you plan to be there all day. I will definitely be back!!

Such a beautiful, little island with crystal clear waters, great for snorkeling. My family and I had a wonderful time.

it was absolutely beautiful, the weather was fantastic which helped us a lot, we had a great experience visiting this amazing place. the water is so transparent and clean which makes it a great to do activities like snorkeling

Beautiful beach, boat ride was $50 per person, make sure to rent an umbrella $25 and enough sunblock, take your own food/drinks there is no vendors
Katherine Breton — Google review
We absolutely loved this location and will return if given the chance. The waters were just beautiful and out of a magazine, crystal clear, warm with no waves. We took Castillo tours - to get to this location and received top notch service. Highly recommend!!!
Melissa Wu — Google review
Soft sand, Clear water that feels as smooth and easy to swim in as a swimming pool 😌 one of the most beautiful waters you can visit. Pics do not do it justice
Olivia Licerio — Google review
You "typically" access this via catamaran excursions from Fajardo. I think it was almost a 30 min boat ride. The water is very clear. Areas near mangroves are slightly murky. The water is very calm, but the tide pull can feel strong. It's easy to drift if you're not paying attention. The snorkeling is alright, which may have just been due to where we were. There were some cool finds (flat fish) and some fish diversity, but there's better. You can find tons of conch shells too which is a cool souvenir, instead of going to a gift shop.
Dayna Henderson — Google review
Beautiful island. Went with a charter trip the first time. Second time with a water taxi. There are no vendors on the island, so plan appropriately if not going with charter.

Laguna Grande Bay is a coastal lagoon famous for its bioluminescent microorganisms, which can be seen during nighttime kayak tours. The bay was affected by a hurricane in 2017 and is gradually recovering from the damages. Visitors are advised to respect the eco system of the area, and guides are available to provide safety instructions and explain its importance. The bioluminescence varies significantly, with optimal viewing during warmer summer months and newer moons.
So cool to visit at night and dip into the water to activate the plankton and bioluminescence
Raina Searles — Google review
Beautiful sunsets! The peacefulness and view of the sunset while waiting for darkness was almost better than the bioluminescence. The bioluminescence was also cool of course since there are only a few places in the world where you can see it.
Kent Price — Google review
At night, agitate the water and see the bioluminescent glow
Jose Vazquez — Google review
Dude!!! The water glows!!! Shut down the phone and go check it yourself!!!
Rodrigo Alvarez Ruiz — Google review
The bioluminescence of the lagoon will vary greatly. Optimal viewing is during the warmer summer months and during newer moons.
While a tarp overhead isn't required, it really does help block out extraneous light.

Luminous Bay was damaged by the hurricane in 2017 and is slowly recovering from the damages . The Guides were very enthusiastic and helpful to all of safety as well as explaining the importance of being respectful of the eco system of the Laguna Grande Bay. We found the adventure to be true and realistic 10 out of 10 on the the kayak adventure 8 out of 10 on old history of the area and knowledge of the area's eco system.

Wanted to visit at 9pm on a Tuesday. The only road leading Launga Grande was closed. So weird there is only one road to get to this place?

Nice place to observe bioluminescence during the night. Take a bio bay kayaking tour with one of the companies that offer this.

Terminal de Lanchas
Ferry terminal
Transportation
Ferries
I used the ferry from Fajardo to Culebra three times during my spring break vacation. This was beginning of April 2018. The first day, a Thursday, I got there at 8 am and we left the dock around 9:30 am. The second and third days, both early week days, it left like 9:10 am and was great, reliable, and cheap transportation (a mere $4.50). I'd highly recommend it. It can get a little wavy on windy days, but the staff came around with bags if anyone was sick. I was cold on the return trip (as I had been swimming and was wet) so having a jacket/sweatshirt is helpful. They do have air conditioning on the boat. You will be seated inside the boat - no people up on top deck or out in open air (for your protection as it gets wavy). I paid $3 each way for taxi service once on island to get to Flamenco beach. Regarding parking at the ferry, there is a place to park for $5. I used this the first day, and the other two days, I parked on the street for free. My experience of using the ferry was that it was very organized.
Mary Hoekwater — Google review
Long lines and wait time. Not too big of a ferry and be ready if you get sea sick. This is closed so if you need fresh air, let someone know. I had issues even with dramamine.
Cya Vsqz — Google review
This was our first time to the ferry for Culebra. When we arrived we found a parking lot at the very end for $5. The Ferry was supposed to leave at 9. It is now 9:32 and they are JUST NOW deciding to put more fuel in the ferry, when it's been sitting here for hours. There are several lines you have to go into to end up at the final destination gate for the ferry. The lines are fairly long and some are in direct sunlight. If you're with someone who can't stand long I would suggest bringing a chair (you have to pay $1to bring a chair and you are allowed one bag for free). We've been standing here so long that I've decided to sit on the bare ground. The family beside us (also on the ground) said they had been here since 1am trying to catch the 4am ferry that left late at 5am. Apparently residents got priority and there was not enough room for everyone. It seems like leaving late is a normal around here. Be prepared for a miserable wait. Also, when you get on the ferry people will try to save seats with their bag and say it's reserved so no one sits next to them. If there's no human there, it's yours. The Ferry finally departed at 10:08
Christine Wilmott — Google review
Ferry ride was ok but like most times, you run into people who just don't know how to act like adults. Even when crew members tried to get them to stop, they refused to listen. Needs a better security system. It's also very disorganized because there are different lines for different ferry on the main Island side. Once you know where you need to be, then get ready for wait time on both sides of the ferry terminal. The price is very cheap in cost. $4 both ways total for adults.
Jose R Lopez — Google review
Just to start, you call the number available for assistance and this people never pick up the phone. This puts a bad taste in my mouth already. I just want to know how much is the ferry ride before I make an 1hour drive to the terminal. I just want to talk to a person to ask questions 😞. Bad communication...I arrived to terminal at 800am and it was crazy. Soooo many people it is almost descourage but, the Ferry fits 350 people. It took me 2 hours to get me a ticket and board ferry. Maybe the phone for assistance it's inside the old terminal, which it is closed down for "REPAIRS". Once you arrive you get a better assistance. There is guards (no policeman) everywhere who wants to help. The area looks like you are about to enter into a concert or cross a border...Food in Culebra it is expensive but of course you are in a small Island. I want to make sure you understand it is worth it (see pics please). Once you are in Flamenco Beach you will forget what you went through to make it there. When you get to the beach go to the left (less waves and nice reef in shallow waters) You can take your own snorkeling set or you can rent one in Culebra. Going back to the mainland is not as stressful as going into culebra. Enjoy.
Jorge Nieves — Google review
Here's the thing about the Fajardo ferry...you have to use common sense when planning your trip. Don't expect to show up 30min till departure on a weekend during the summer when all the locals are taking their kids out to the islands and expect to get on the boat. If you plan your trip to Culebra or Vieques on a week day (T-F) during the school year (such as Mid-Aug through Nov) and show up a good hour early, you will be fine! We were able to get tickets with no wait, and although we had to sit on the ground we got where we needed to go. There are bathrooms in the terminal and vendors with water and food. It's a terminal not a hotel.
Chad Alan Milam — Google review
If it is your first experience at this ferry be prepared for a lack of help, poor signage, long waits in the heat. (Thankfully they now have tents to wait out of the sun) The value is great compared to flying or swimming but the experience is frustrated those who like timeliness, order and efficiency. This ferry gives priority boarding to locals even if you have a ticket you might not make the ferry you have purchased a ticket to ride. It's the way it is. Locals are working to privatize the ferry to achieve a better service. Just bring your water, find the bathrooms and plan to wait in long lines as your vacation awaits you in Culebra. Be patient.
John Brantley — Google review
The queue could be really long, better come early. The ticket price is low if you manage to get one.
Business Web Admin — Google review
I would give them zero star, this is the most terrible experience about traveling that I could describe. Please don't take this Ferry this is the most incompetent way to travel to the Island . Don't take this Ferry I am telling you, if you are a tourist you want to be relaxed, save your time, so this is the worst idea to go to Culebra or Vieques Island. Pay whatever you have to paid , and it will be worth it because the other way even though you do the line early and get the tickets you have to wait until the time they want to departure literally when ever they want, they said 9 am but that never happen. Believe me awful experience. Consider time and money that you put just to get here and you will regret not paying the flight.

This is the best place to stay in Luquillo and all east of PR. Rooms are excellent. View is incredible. In the middle of everything you need. I recommend this 100%. Can't wait to come back!!

Canceled my reservation due to most recent review. I have plans to stay in the area in a few weeks and wanted to confirm my reservation. I have called several times and no one has answered me or returned my messages. Seeing that people arrived there with no one at the door and no answer is the exact thing I’m trying to avoid. Glad I read it to confirm my suspicions. Decided to go with a much more responsive and reliable establishment.

Super nice rooms, the staff is very sweet and helpful and the roof terrace was perfect.
We felt safe and welcome here and decided to stay 7 instead of 4 nights because we loved it so much.
Luquillo Beach is within walking distance, as well as nice restaurants and cafés.
Sure, the roosters make some noise, but unless you are a very light sleeper, it is no problem at all with the ear plugs provided by the host.
We absolutely recommend this place!

I stayed for 6 days. I LOVE IT and will go back again for sure. The rooms were very clean and private. Very down to earth experience, felt like I was living there again. Souring noises just make me feel like I was back home. Good comunication with staff. Feets away from the beach La Pared. 5 minutes from Luquillos kioskos.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for Me. Thank you

Simple Air BNB styled. Clean room. We stayed there to feel more connected the the Real PR. You'll wake up to roosters and be greated by cats. A pleasant little dive bar just feet away and the roof top is nice. Will go again.

Unfortunately this was a very disappointing experience with poor communication from property management and unsanitary and unsafe conditions. I strongly urge would-be guests to stay in local rentals instead, which can be found for a similar or lower price.
Property management is severely non-responsive once a reservation has been booker. Phone calls or texts took several hours to be returned, and there was no staff on-site that we could see until the next day after check-in. It took nearly two hours after check-in to get the WiFi password. The advertised ear plugs to block out the sound of the morning roosters (which are loud) were not offered.
Despite ongoing concerns with the COVID-19 public health emergency, there was no hand or body soap in the unit (let alone shampoo) and the sanitizer dispenser was empty. When I asked the property manager about this, I was told that they had "run out" and that I should go buy my own. We had not been warned about this ahead of time. The apartment did not have enough hot water for two travelers and the temperature quickly turned cool. The street that the hostel is located on has a feral animal issue, which would-be guests should be warned to take notice of but are not. The listing says that guests are required to be vaccinated or test negative for COVID-19, but the owners did not verify this. This wasn’t an issue for me but I imagine it would be concerning for those staying in a communal setting.
The property was extremely poorly insulated from the outside, which meant that every passer-by could hear your conversations and you could hear everything happening outside. Be prepared to have functionally no privacy. One night, a garbage truck came through the neighborhood at 3 in the morning, waking up me and my travel companion. The apartment also has no inside latch, which left me feeling unsafe because there is no barrier between the door and the street. Anyone with the key or a copy of the key — property management, a previous guest, anyone else — could access the apartment as you slept.

Loved our week long stay! Rooms are comfortable and air conditioned! The local flavor was everywhere. Loved the culture next door-didn't even notice them after the first day! Walk to the beach and restaurants. Will definitely be staying again!

Friendly people and a beautiful, secure, clean hostel. No hot water or A/C but honestly those two things work together in Puerto Rico in July. Bedroom is well-equipped with fans and I had no trouble sleeping. Beach is a two minute walk, breakfast at Lena's is four. Would definitely stay here again.
Carabali Adventure Park is a lush outdoor attraction located near El Yunque Rainforest. It offers a range of activities for families, including horseback riding and mountain biking with stunning views, as well as extreme go-kart racing, zip-lining and ATV rides. The park provides an amazing experience for nature lovers looking to spend quality time with their families in a beautiful setting. Additionally, visitors can enjoy food and drinks while having fun at this wonderful destination.
Pat and Cheo were great guides. Very knowledgeable about the horses, landscape, animals we saw (iguanas, turtles, birds, etc) and helped us take lots of pictures, took fruit off the trees for us to taste… the scenery was beautiful. The horses were very safe. The stable was clean and staff was professional. Booking was easy. Hope to be back soon! Fun for the whole family including our 9yo daughter.

What an amazing experience. We did the last 1 hr tour of the day and it was extremely fun! Our tour leader and the other guides were all very friendly and made sure we were safe. One of our ATVs overheated and they quickly swapped it out and gave us time to take photos of the beautiful landscape. We will definitely return for the 2 hr tour next time! I would recommend to anyone. I also want to return for the beautiful restaurant located there as well. Their gift shop is also nice!

This place is sooo cute. We almost didn't stop but so glad we did. The atmosphere is great. Even if you don't have a tour booked it is a neat place to walk around. The resteraunt was really good. I recommend the steak burger, chicken pasta and cheesecake. They have a gift shop with drinks, ice cream and souvenirs. Kids as young as 3 can ride the horses. You can book in advance or show up and if they have availability they will let you go. There is a cute two store tree house bar area as well. You do not need to have tickets in advance for the go carts. There are single go carts and double. To drive the double, the driver must be about 58 inches tall and 54 inches tall for the single kart if I remember correctly. You get to drive about 7 laps.

My family and I went horseback riding through the forest and angel was our tour. Let me express…angel is the best of the best he made it enjoyable, fun and exciting. He made it the experience you’re looking for. The following day I did horseback riding to the beach (not recommended for children) hoping to have the same experience but we had a female that gave us the tour and let me say it was a boring, straight ride, strict and hot ride. The view was amazing. If you’re going to the beach or to the forest request for angel you won’t regret it.

Such a beautiful thrill! It may be on the more expensive side for some, but is worth saving for! If you're wild, I recommend the UTV/ATV rentals, but they do have horse rides if you're looking for something a little slower paced. Either way, this is worth your while!

This place is incredible. The staff is so friendly and they really make sure you get the most out of the experience. We did the 2 hour ATV tour with Felix, who never hesitated to make sure we got the perfect photo! The stops along the way are breathtaking, whether it’s a Mountain View or swimming in the river. If you want to swim, make sure you bring a change of clothes or at least a towel (the website does recommend this). If you’re looking for an unique and exciting time, definitely book yourself a reservation!

We really enjoyed our ATV family ride. There are beautiful views. The staff is professional, friendly and our tour guide the guy from Oklahoma was awesome. He took pictures of us and was making sure we were ok the entire time. There is lots to do there like horseback riding and more. There is a restaurant and a food kiosk in the middle of the trail. Make sure to go when it has rained so it's not so dusty. I also recommend the 2 hour versus the shorter trail. You have to make the appointment online before. They are usually booked.

After our 2 hour tour we stopped to eat at their restaurant and the food was delicious! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved it and it's worth every penny I paid. The staff was very attentive and explained in details how to handle the horse. They select the horse for you based on your weight and other things. Angel and Erick were always checking on everyone through the trail to make sure everything was OK and that made me feel safe at all times. My lovely horse Tonka behaved 🤣 and he was beauty. Will I come back with my family? absolutely 100 percent!!! Thank you to the staff for an excellent service.

From an experienced horse owner, their riding adventure is not to be missed! We had a great time riding their Paso horses. The operation is top notch. Healthy horses, good tack, everyone obviously well cared for.
Their horses for experienced riders were FUN! Sometimes we don’t raise our hands in favor of a quiet, relaxing ride, since some places will give you unruly horses that you help train on the trail. We were given Joey and Jimmy. Jimmy loves to be in the front and knows when to kick it into a higher gear. Joey was laid back, smooth, responsive, and seemed to really enjoy the experience on the trail. If we come back to Puerto Rico we will absolutely come here again.

An awesome place for some adventure while visiting the island! My husband and I had a great time riding the UTV’s through the beautiful scenery. We also enjoyed the pit stop along the trail for a nice refresher (they take cash or card). Afterwards, we enjoyed some food and drinks at the restaurant they have on site. Everything was delicious! Would definitely take a trip here again!

Wonderful experience! Would definitely go again. It was organized, the people were kind and helpful and they knew all of their horses quirks if any and gave advice accordingly. The horses were well cared for too. The beach ride was so beautiful and we even got to stop for drinks and food along the way! A+ Thank you!!

Wow how can I start, They provided a great ATV adventure for my kids and I. I was impressed with the quality of the equipment and our great guide SEBASTIAN. He was amazing, funny, down to earth and very professional. He led us on a great tour, he did not watch the clock but instead made sure we had a good time. Made a point to stop and take pictures of those of us on the tour. I would definitely use them again and recommend them 100% to anyone considering an ATV tour.

Louis was our tour guide for the 1hr ATV ride. He was awesome. He did a great job of educating us before the ride. Everyone was so polite from the greeter at the front to the lady at the front window and the guy that got us checked in at the gate. I would recommend .

My wife and I had a terrific time on the horseback beach tour! The horses were beautiful and calm, and the guides Geo/Angel/Eric were helpful and informative. Riding horses on the beach was such a cool experience! We got to ride through a river and take lots of pictures. We also spent some time relaxing at a beach bar at the halfway point! I had very ridden a horse before, but I felt safe and comfortable and had a ton of fun on Estrella. I highly recommend Carabali!

El Yunque National Forest is a Puerto Rican national forest and natural treasure famed for its rare trees and birds, as well as its many hiking trails.
This was a fun and fantastic time. Our guide Gian was awesome. Surprisingly through all the mud, hills, and narrow paths we walked; I had very little mud on me at the end of the hike.
Our tour included a natural rock water slide, cliff jumping, and rope swing into the water. I would definitely do this tour again. There were multiple opportunities to take pictures it definitely pack light. I had on a waterproof fanny pack to hold my phone, a Go Pro strapped to my wrist, and a bottle of water to hydrate.
The hike includes information about Puerto Rico; what was natural and what was brought to the island. We saw some beautiful flowers and a waterfall.
Sherri W — Google review
We got soaked climbing to the top of one of the towers and was promised views of 3 sides of the island, but instead saw the inside of a rain cloud. It was still totally worth it. There's waterfalls and everything is so green. We even packed a lunch and found a really fun picnic area to eat. Beautiful place to visit.
Pauline Grayson — Google review
Great national park. All trails are do-able for a beginning hiker with some determination. La Coco falls and the tower are easy to see and picturesque. There is also a waterfall that is a five minute hike. Highly suggest the stop.

Best part of our trip! Highly recommend! My daughter and I drove it and stopped along the way! We did not take a tour and still saw a lot! It’s absolutely beautiful and breathtaking! Do not miss this on your trip to Puerto Rico!

This tour is not for the faint at heart. The path to get to the water was a true challenge for me. If you are adventurous and not afraid of heights, and can live up to the challenge of hiking over rocks, through muddy slopes, across river banks this is the tour for you. The forest is beautiful and the water was amazing. It was fun to watch people jumping off the cliff into the water but it was not for me. It was a true adventure for the adventurous. For me it was an one time thing. But if you do decide to take the tour go with Bespoke Touring. Their guides are amazing and fun. They also recognized my challenges as well as a few others in our group and they were patient with us and never left our side during the challenging parts of the tour.

Gorgeous with neat falls. We only did the main north entrance route. Took a star off for the main gift shop, they had only 1 size for most of the adult shirts! There's two more little souvenir shops along the road, be prepared to find fun but "inappropriate" items there. We went on a Monday and there wasn't too many people there. Had to pay $5 entrance fee and then the $2 reservation online (National Park annual pass not accepted here).
Brooke Lynn Barlow — Google review
One of the main tourist attractions when visiting Puerto Rico. You can easily spend a few hours or more here. A lot of good hiking trails, they get more exhausting depending on what you want to see. The views are extraordinary. You’ll never feel crowded. There is also a place for drinks and snacks.
Nicholas P — Google review
When I first got here, it was a bad start. The road isn’t the greatest, but it’s a park so whatever. The parking is super annoying though. There’s not a lot of spots, and you have to get inside the lot in order to do the trails. I had to wait very long in order to get a spot because there is someone managing the traffic. For every 20 cars that leave, 20 cars get to enter. Once you get in though, it is breathtaking. I had no clue when I first entered, so I went on this sketchy unmarked trail and realized that it was not what I was looking for. So switched the trail, and it was better. Let me tell you, I have never seen this many trees in my life! It’s pretty great, I went in a not so busy season so I’m not sure how it is when there’s a lot of people. Also, in case you don’t know, cell service up there is not great. It’s stunning wildlife and some good views.
Jimmy D. — Google review
This place was absolutely beautiful! Words truly cant describe. We paid $2 per car to enter. Get your tixs as it sells out quickly. Buy the roll option as tourist if you're driving everywhere!!!
Loved the overall experience.

A fantastic area to visit. We had perfect weather, no crowds since a bit of rain was announced for the days and they also manage capacity by day. Still some damage from the hurricane so La Mina trail is still closed
Tibor Kormendi — Google review
Had to get a reservation ahead of time. They open at 8am so I set my alarm for 7 55 and was able to get it. I saw many tours for this place but honestly it's really not needed. The hikes weren't that bad, my parents (57 & 60) did it just fine from the top parking lot to the yunque viewpoint. There are a lot of stairs to get to the top and one muddy area to be careful but other than that, the hike was nice.
Daisy Rodriguez — Google review
Definitely not what it was before the hurricane. I would like to see more water holes and falls on their map, perhaps give your guests a physical map. The food there is on point and generous for the price.

Unbelievable experience! Highly recommend the visit if you have the time. We drove up ourselves found parking and hiked to the castle. The waterfall was mesmerizing. Unforgettable day!

Absolutely must visit when in PR! The visitor center was very well done. The art walk was a nice introduction to the rainforest. But traveling the road into the rainforest & stopping at all the stops was just incredible. We could even see Luquillo beach from a couple of stops, which was neat (we stayed there). Definitely a highlight of our PR trip.
Green Goddess — Google review
Walking through this rainforest is relaxing and soul cleansing. The air smells amazing and clean, the birds sing their beautiful songs, and the plants are vibrant and stunning. We went without a tour, which I recommend. The trails are marked and very easy to follow. You are able to drive in, pass park rangers who count how many cars enter, and park next to your trail. We arrived around 8am on a Saturday and found parking easily. On our way out, around 11am, the park rangers were placing signs stating the park was full. I love hiking and forests and pretty plants and trees, so this was my favorite thing we did while in PR. Enjoy and respect this beautiful forest 💚
Olivia Benedetto — Google review
This can be a full or partial day depending upon your specific tour. I thought this would be a light hike exploring the rainforest but this tour was more of an ecological tour than a hiking excursion. Our tour guide Frankie was extremely knowledgeable and excited about the topics and loved sharing his knowledge. He liked it when we asked questions and explored and got very excited with the wildlife around us. It was great for all ages and was not strenuous. Any hiking was not a requirement and was considered optional. We started at the information center and walked through some pathways looking at plants and flowers and birds. We stopped at different waterfalls and towers along the way and got to see a lot. There are plenty of hiking trails and opportunities to experience more, but you need a full day to do so. Overall there is a lot to explore and the tours that include waterfalls or swimming could involve more strenuous activities. Our group included an older couple, so our tour through Viator was perfect. Definitely someplace to spend time visiting.

Visiting El Yunque National Park was an absolute delight! The scenic drive, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning waterfalls, felt like a photographer's paradise. While I was disappointed that the upper waterfall was closed, the ones I did see were absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend a visit to anyone seeking natural beauty and tranquility

Wish I could have walked further into the forest during the tour instead of hopping on/off the bus. Had a spectacular time though! The view from the top of the tower was especially breathtaking!

If you visit Puerto Rico you absolutely MUST see El Yunque! One day is minimum, two days is great and you can spend even more. I recommend starting at opening time in the morning, when it is still empty. You can bathe in some of the magical waterfalls all alone it’s like a spiritual experience. My best recommendation: get some high quality water shoes and you maximize the fun and were you can go! 🕺🇵🇷🌈🤗👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This is indeed a fine national rain forest, the only one in the US. When you get into it, it’s dense and different from anything else. The visitor center is pleasant and somewhat informative. The gift shop is excellent, with many related books. There are very nice short trails around the visitor center that let you authentically experience the forest. I saw as many birds there and in the parking lots as I did along the dense trails. The visitor center costs $8 and has a lot of parking. Open from 9-5.
To get to the hiking trails you drive on from the center. Most days you don’t really need to get there at 8am but they do close access to the trails when there are too many cars. The trails are varied, some long with very difficult walking, some short with nice views, sometimes long ones to the coast, and installations like ponds. You need a paper map (no cell service in lots of the park) and some previous study of the trails. It’s a unique experience.
Dick Feldman — Google review
You can take hwy 191 through the rainforest for no cost but you must be out by a certain time. They will let you know when you enter the park. Be prepared to go up & down a few times to see everything as it can be busy & hard to find a place to stop. But when you can park, take advantage & walk to see as much as possible. Take water & snacks, as there's only a couple of places to buy stuff but there are a few picnic spots, to rest. It's breathtakingly beautiful and worth the drive.
Dawn Kluesner — Google review
Gorgeous views and worth the drive. Free to get in. Visitors center charges 8 dollars for admission and kids are free. Totally worth it. Beautiful gardens and cute market for lunch and smoothies or coffee. Get there early if you want to go up to too for waterfalls because they can hit parking capacity.
Located in Punta Santiago, Puerto Rico, the Humacao Nature Preserve, also known as Reserva Natural de Humacao, is a significant natural reserve protected for study and conservation. It is part of the San Juan Bay estuary and offers various activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking, and cycling. The preserve provides opportunities for exploring nature through foot or adventurous means like biking. Visitors can enjoy freshwater fishing for Snook and small Tarpon while surrounded by stunning natural scenery.
Lovely place to rent kayaks and row along the nature preserve. We saw turtles and iguanas. The craziest part was having to kayak under a very low bridge filled with spiders. But I guess with it.

Beautiful scenery, highly recommend trails for nature lovers. Definitely one of my favorite and most peaceful places to visit in the island. Bring a lot of water, as the high humidity and heat can cause you to lose hydration quickly.

Alright for a visit. We spent a little under 2 hours hiking the route here. We saw many salamanders, a few stray dogs, fish, turtles and enjoyed a few ocean views.
Tips:
-You need about 2-4 hours to enjoy the space
-If you want to kayak or paddle board you must come in the morning, they close for the afternoon
-The hours on google aren't totally right. Came on a weekday and they close the park at 3pm

About two to three hours worth of hiking trails. We visited on a Tuesday, which was ideal because the kayak and bike rentals were closed, so there were only a few other nature enthusiasts walking like us. Good for bird watching (we saw a pied billed grebe, a bananaquit, and moorhens. Great to admire native trees as well . Also, a bit of WW2 history, with the rings of two pillboxes. There's also a display of the equipment used to drain the wetlands in the past. Signage is in Spanish only.

The Humacao Nature Reserve, , is good for hiking and kayaking. If interested in the latter, you can rent kayaks right there. The hiking trails are ideal for novices with well-maintained and marked trails and mostly flat terrain. The area is particularly excellent for bird watching with a wide variety of birds calling this place home.

Condado Beach is a public beach located in San Juan, Puerto Rico that is known for its golden sand, warm Caribbean water and the availability of water sports. It is frequented by tourists and locals due to its location close to the city. The beach has high-rise hotels, restaurants and bars within close proximity, making it a popular destination for visitors to Puerto Rico.
Very beautiful beach to relax and unwind. Easy access with plenty of food options in the area. Its a must if you are around Condado PR.
For Covid concerns vendors around wear mask.

The beach of Condado is a very popular beach among tourists in San Juan craving a Caribbean beach resort experience with all the vibrant life of a city just steps away. It attracts diverse crowd, from families to famous celebrities. If you want to play on the water, you can enjoy windsurfing, a very popular watersport in Condado. all the top hotels and resorts are close as well as restaurants.
Well , despite tempting Condado Beach is not safe for swimming or bathing, the water has very dangerous currents. Neither adults nor children should be swimming at Condado Beach. Nearby, you can walk to Playita del Condado, (Playita means small) a small beach with calmer water, better for swimming and doing a little snorkeling.
We just came here, clicked few pics, dipped feet in sea water, wander around and moved to Playita condado.
Ps: I did not see any shower-bathroom here.

Great little beach at west end at bridge to Old San Juan. The water is calm and swimmable unlike central Condado beach where the waves are.too dangerous to swim in.

I only took a star out because of the awareness to accessibility unless you’re local OR staying at a resort with beach access. It would be an incredible improvement to notate public access, desired parking, and tour the people and traffic to enjoy the beach even if they’re not local.

Very beautiful beach near the old capital. They have some good food trucks nearby. The waves are pretty strong and it can get crowded during peak hours. I did not see any life guards, so swim at your own risk.

We love this beach! We’ve been here nearly everyday during our 2 week vacation. The waves are strong, but my teenage girls and I had zero issues. Beach isn’t filled with litter. I didn't plan to be there but I am glad I did. So the day I was gonna do the night kayaking I decided to search the nearest area & what's to see there. That's when this beach came up on google . When I searched how far is from my kayaking place it showed me that it's very close. That's when I decided to go there first & just chill there until it's time to kayak.
At the entrance I saw them selling pinna colada & asked one without alcohol, lol the way she looked at me was just too funny ! She must have thinking I am crazy ! I still laugh just thinking about it..!
I gotta say what a clean, beautiful beach. Area is smaller but kinda peaceful. I enjoyed staying there under my umbrella for 20$ a day lol with my virgin Pina Colada ! I was so relaxed that almost forgot to take pictures! But I managed to take some before I left.
There are a lot of restaurants, hotel near by. I also ended up going to a seafood restaurant called Way Kiki.

Lost a star because it's closed to the public. There is an easy way to get to it but you need to go down a path that runs along the perimeter of the fence and property and then all is good. The path is not good for elderly or disabled.
The views are 5 stars and well and worth the small walk on the path. It's an amazing place and it's sad to see it abandoned. Major fail on the gov. part.
I highly recommend taking a few extra moments to walk down onto Playa Largo, I shared images there also so you can see. There's a natural window that makes for some amazing photos. Enjoy!

The imposing Castillo de San Cristobal is a Spanish fortification located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Completed in 1785, it was one of the largest forts built in the Americas during its time and is now a national historical site. The castle features extensive walls and moats, as well as a number of defensive features, such as booby-trapped bridges and tunnels.
My kids two and I came here as part of a cruise ship booked tour. It was probably our most memorable stop in San Juan. Great opportunities for pictures and views of the city. Loves the detailed history of the island here. It was really a special experience.

So excited, I got a puerto rican recipe book and cant wait to try out recipes! The gift shop was a nice spot to shop and cool down. We also were able to use my husband's veteran national park pass. That was a nice free bee. My one complaint would have to be the informational movie theater, it smelled moldy in there.

Such a fun experience! It took us maybe 2 hours to explore the entire fort and read all of the signs. Lots of incredible views and informative signs. There's also a bathroom, water fountains, and a gift shop. Definitely worth the $10. Our favorite part was exploring the dark tunnels throughout the entire fort

A must-see for any visit to San Juan, the main Spanish Fortress is a national park (bring your annual pass for free entry) giving a glimpse into the 18th century as the Spanish, British, French and Dutch competed for control of the Caribbean and the Americas. Great ocean views and adjacent to the museums, restaurants, and shopping of old town. If you’re able, build in time to walk the path down from and around the fort back to the San Juan Gate.

One of my favorite forts I’ve ever been to before! I really enjoyed roaming around for hours seeing all the beautiful places features it has to offer! Parking around here is the hardest issue. Pretty much all lots are full pretty early. Don't underestimate this. The area is beautiful, but has steep walkways all around. Noticed several elder and overweight folks having difficulty, especially in the heat. So bring water and take it slow (they sell cold water bottles where you buy tickets).

Visited a few years ago and this place is so cool to see. We learned so much history. There are signs for reading if you want to do s self guided tour. They also have tour guides walking around telling you extra information. They're locals so they know more history that isn't presented on the signs. We listened in on a group's tour guide and it was ingesting to hear all the events that took place here. I'm also amazed it's on good shape and still standing. A very strong structure that should last hundreds of years.

I am so glad that we decided to go see this location on our trip to San Juan. There was so much interesting historical information included. It was in close walking distance to so many restaurants and little shops in Old San Juan. I highly recommend going here on a trip to San Juan!

The two castles are one of the best places to visit in Puerto Rico. It took only $10 to get the tickets for both beautiful castles. The junior ranger book was free and helped me learn a lot about the history of this place. This castle is located near the entrance to the old San Juan. It has plenty of historical and cultural specialties about the Spanish government period.
This eastern castle is almost same as the other one, but it has a beautiful view of the San Juan city. I was so lucky to see a lovely large lizard lying on the roof.

This is the main fort that you see in all the visitors guides. It is in great shape and has many rooms to cost and exhibits to look at. The views from the torets are great and the views of the city and the ocean are spectacular. There is also a grassy area in front of the fort that is used for flying kites, and there generally are people there selling kites if you or your children want to join in. There is also a cemetery very near by that is an easy walk to and very nice. Well worth your time to walk up to this fort.

Historic parks of Puerto Rico. I enjoyed so much going back to the island and visiting this historic site. It was humid, but with the ocean breeze, it was somewhat bearable. Go with comfortable shoes and light clothes. All the views are worth the walking. You can buy tickets for $10 pp and go to both sites.

It’s going to be hot so bring water with you and wear a hat. Cost $10 USA to e tee but kids are free. Wheelchair accessible in most parts. Parking is a pain so leave the car and walk from wherever you can.
Photographers dream so think outside the box when snapping. Be respectful that others will want to take similar photos so snap and love along.
That’s it. More great things to see further along. So keep walking.

Another must if you visit PR we went early and was able to take great pictures. Seeing such a rich history preserved is truly magical. We paid for one park and was able to enter the other one just a short walk away.

Castillo San Cristobal is an absolute gem! Visited this historic site today and was captivated by its grandeur and historical significance. The fortifications and views are spectacular, providing a unique window into the past. The preservation and information available make it a must-see for history enthusiasts and tourists alike. Truly a highlight of my trip! Special thanks to Jose, who is a great tour guide with this site!

Wear comfortable but grippy shoes. It was steep along certain parts but a very pleasant experience to see and explore such a historic place. Easy enough to navigate with children and some very nice scenery. The walls overlooking the shores is indescribable.

The castle was so fun to explore. It was exciting getting to walk through tunnels to dungeons and various parts of the castle. The ramps can get steep at time but the work is way worth it. The views of the city are amazing and I definitely recommend climbing tot eh very top to see the entire city and the other castle further down the island.

There was free admission for everyone this morning. To start, it’s a pretty big fort, so lots of walking around. I’m not sure about on weekends, but there was not a lot of people today, so we were able to get good photos without people in the background. Because there was a training session in the theatre, we were unable to watch the movie (hence the free admission). It’s a pretty cool place, bathrooms are pretty good. It got really hot though, (visited in February) so I didn’t like how humid and sweaty it got. Lots of information about history, if that’s your thing. Gift shop was pretty neat, got a magnet and a postcard. Super pretty views of the ocean. The two iguanas there were very chill and friendly.

Absolut must see for any visitor of Puerto Rico. Rich historical site, so much information, so much to see. We walked around for 3 hours and could have spent even more time. Starting at the opening hour at 9 is ideal. Very few people then. Later it got pretty crowded. Take your time to dive into the castle and the surrounding atmosphere, it’s well worth it.

Visiting Castillo San Cristobal was an unforgettable experience! This historical gem is exceptionally well-preserved, allowing visitors to step back in time and immerse themselves in its rich history. One of the most impressive aspects is the seamless accessibility for families, especially those with stroller-based children. The paths and areas around the fort are well-maintained and easy to navigate, making the visit stress-free and enjoyable for parents and little ones alike.
Additionally, the staff at Castillo San Cristobal deserves a special mention. Every staff member we encountered was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable and eager to help. They shared fascinating stories and facts about the fort’s history, enhancing our visit with their insights and enthusiasm.
Overall, Castillo San Cristobal is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, culture, or simply looking for a family-friendly outing. The combination of its historical significance, excellent maintenance, and the welcoming atmosphere created by the staff makes it a top-notch attraction. Highly recommended!

After a nice walk from the fort, you can use the ticket bought to go see this castle. The history is quite amazing here, so much to learn and see. The weather was fabulous and after and all day trip, as we stayed at El condado and Uber to old san Old Juan we had a fabulous meal at one of the local places

This is a beautiful old fort in Old San Juan. It's just up the hill from port and is sn easy trek if you're coming from one of the cruise ships. I love this fort. There is a lot to explore and there are tunnels going through parts of the fort. It gets very warm so visit early or on a cloudy day. There are steep ramps and some stairs so if you're older or have disabilities you might not be able to see everything but there is still plenty to explore. Beautiful views into the city or out into the ocean and of the port. I just wish that there were more staff members throughout the fort to answer questions or provide more details and explanations regarding the history. If you're a history bought you don't want to miss this. My favorite was Castillo San Felipe Del Morro, but if you have time to see both definitely do it. Kids especially will enjoy the tunnels. The National Parks annual pass allows access for you and your family.

Old San Juan is a historic city in the Caribbean, with buildings dating back to the 16th century such as the San Felipe del Morro and San Cristóbal fortresses, and old city walls. Bautista Cathedral houses Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León's tomb. The streets are lined with brightly colored homes, cobbled streets, shady plazas, cool cocktail bars and Caribbean fusion restaurants.
The Paseo de la Princesa is a famed promenade situated at the southernmost point of San Juan that is considered one of the most stunning walkways globally. It has been named after La Princesa and boasts impressive walls that were once used to defend the city, as well as providing breathtaking views of San Juan bay. Furthermore, there are several sculptural works lined up along this magnificent walkway for visitors to admire.
The Cathedral of San Juan Bautista is one of the oldest churches in the Western Hemisphere and holds the distinction of being the second-oldest in North America. The original cathedral was built from wood in 1521 and was destroyed by hurricanes multiple times before it underwent major restoration and expansion in 1917.
Beautiful! I have made a point to go here both times I have been in San Juan. It just makes me feel good to walk through and see the displays and history. It’s definitely showing its age but a great experience nonetheless.

This is a nice church. It was pleasant and quite inside. It is right by the road and easy to get to. Parking is difficult to find as it is mostly street parking and finding a spot is not always easy. Apart from that, we enjoyed visiting the church with our toddler. The architecture inside is praise worthy.

Old San Juan's venerated cathedral is Puerto Rico's grandest religious building, and one of its most important, and San Juan Bautista is the seat of the Archdiocese of Puerto Rico. it's a can't-miss historic landmark in the heart of the old city
The history of the church dates to 1521 and the earliest beginnings of the Spanish colonization of the island. The building you see today wasn't the original church, which was demolished by a hurricane. The current structure dates to 1540.
Fact: It's also the second oldest church in the Western Hemisphere, and the oldest church on U.S. soil.
Location: The church is located at Calle del Cristo, just across from the beautiful El Convento Hotel.

We were not able to visit this church on the inside because they were reserved for a wedding, but the outside of the amazing 16th century cathedral was breath taking. This is church bears the name of Saint John, the patron saint of the city.
It is a must see and if I make it back I hope to be able to visit inside.

So beautiful so much history. There is so much here to take in including the age of the building paint is coming off in places but it let's someone know how truly old this church is.

A gorgeous active church with several beautiful elements for viewing. Off to the right is a relic of St. Pius; a glass and wooden coffin containing a life-sized representation as well as an urn contain one’s his ashes. Unless you’re paying attention, you might not recognize this for what it is.
An artist has painted San Sébastien and donated it to the church for sale to use in renovations. To me, it seems as if he used Jackie Chan as the model, but that’s only my opinion.

Beautiful place of worship. This is the oldest parish in the western hemisphere. It was established in 1511, but the basilica was not built until 1521. Unfortunately it was destroyed by a hurricane and the current cathedral was actually built in 1540. Still, it is the second oldest Catholic Church in both Americas. The cathedral is home to St. Pius relics and Juan Ponce de Leon tomb.

This church is a thing of beauty! I loved everything about it. Was lucky enough to be there the day before Easter when they had a mass. It was moving. The architectural style of this church tells you a story just by walking around it. Like going back in time.... to an era when constructing a building was an artform and where beauty and attention to detail trumped mass production and deadlines. This will always be a fond memory of mine and I highly recommend this cathedral.

Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista is a stunning architectural masterpiece that should be on every visitor's list of must-see places in Old San Juan. The cathedral's intricate details and rich history make it a truly awe-inspiring sight. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the warm glow of the sun's rays streaming through the beautiful stained-glass windows, casting a rainbow of colors on the marble floors.
The location of the cathedral is another reason why it's a must-visit destination. It's situated in front of a beautiful park, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful stroll before or after your visit. If you're lucky enough to catch the sunset, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of the water, adding to the already unforgettable experience.
The cathedral's facade is equally impressive, with its towering spires and ornate decorations. It's a true testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the architects and builders who created this masterpiece centuries ago. Inside, you'll find a wealth of history and art, including beautiful sculptures, paintings, and carvings.
If you're looking to immerse yourself in the culture and history of Old San Juan, then Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista is an absolute must-visit. Whether you're a devout Catholic or simply appreciate beautiful architecture and art, this cathedral is sure to leave a lasting impression on you. The San Juan National Historic Site is a rich collection of colonial fortifications and other buildings that played an important role in the history of Puerto Rico. The site includes La Fortaleza, Castillo San Cristobal, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, the City Walls of Old San Juan, and Fortin San Juan de Lares.
There is so much to see and so much history here. The views are stunning and the structure is amazing. To think people could build something on this scale in the 1500's is mind blowing. There's something for everyone, if you're visiting alone or have a family. The ticket is also good for the castle, and you can split up the visits into different days. The fort is A LOT to take in, the castle is a lot easier. Also, there's a lot of local food and shopping nearby. A lot of people fly kites out front, it's neat to see and great for kids.

This was so amazing. We walked here from the port and never once felt unsafe. It was a fairly easy walk along the water. There are some beautiful sights to see on the way too. You want to check out the park and swing on the tree branches - and the cats! So many cats! They're everywhere! Once you get to the castle, you can walk around outside and take pictures. It was closed when we were there so we didn't get to go inside but it was still so amazing to see. We walked back through the city (staying on main streets) and stopped for a coconut drink in the square. So much sightseeing - we took so many pictures! Had dinner at a restaurant near the port before heading back to the ship. There are vendors selling their goods as you head back and you can get little trinkets or inexpensive jewelry. This was definitely one of my favorite stops.

As you can see, the views here are absolutely beautiful! The walk through El Morro was really cool, especially seeing all the changes the structure has gone through over its many battles. The surrounding area is a nice place to relax and maybe even have a picnic. Families were here flying kites on the grass, which were sold in a little cart nearby. It's $10/adult to walk through and you also get entrance into the other Castillo down the way.

This is a perfect place to visit for history lovers, those who are looking for spectacular ocean views, and for those wanting a place to enjoy a picnic. The centerpiece of the historic sight is the 400+ year old fort that saw action between the Dutch and the Spanish and also during WWII. There are amazing views of the Port of San Juan and the Caribbean Sea. People with disabilities and difficulty walking need to be aware there are 6 levels to the fort, no elevators and steep climbs up existing (gun) ramps and stairs. It can be windy here so watch your hats. Note that active duty and retired US military members (plus up to 3 guests) pay no entrance fee with the presentation of a valid DoD ID. At this writing, the restrooms within the fort were under renovation but clean porta-potties with wash stations are available just outside the fort entrance.

What a cool piece of history to visit. This site is the Filipe del Morro, nevermind the stunning views, what Spaniards did to become independent! I learned a lot by visiting this structure. It gave me a sense of gratitude for those who fight for their land. There are structures all along this coast. You get to each by easily walking. Make it a day as there are a few. The parking is a bit scarce however. If that's an issue, I know there are four buses. There are vendors along the way also. Do take the trek, it's inspiring for sure.

We had so much fun exploring this historical site yesterday! This place is gorgeous! We got there a little late in the day on a Monday, but they told us which area’s to visit/go to first that they close off first so we did that & since it was later in the day they said if we keep our receipt we could go to the other park for free within a 24-hour period. So we appreciated knowing that for today’s adventure!

If you are a history or architecture buff, make sure to give yourself at least 2 hours here. There are six levels to El Morro and there are really cool views and neat details to take in at every one. I particularly enjoyed the circular staircase, the triangular staircase, and all the ramps and walkways that allowed you to move between levels, as well as all the plaques explaining what you are seeing. The short film also provided a ton of helpful context and background - I highly recommend it.
If you decided not to haul your Passport Book to PR, the gift shop sells those 3 packs of blank stickers you can stamp - you just have to ask for them at the counter.
And save time for San Cristobal - it's not too far away!

Beautiful and spacious. Affected by hurricane Maria but still worth seeing. I have a great time every time we go. They have different events which is nice! Many encourage bringing your pet and that's a definite plus. The pictures i uploaded are from last weekend when they had an orchid festival. Parking is available at no cost (at least, when I went, 8/20/2023). Staff are very friendly. There's an entrance fee of about $5 or $8. You can walk a few nature trails here. I believe I explored the entire grounds, but I might be wrong. I hope not. Nonetheless, I had a great time.
Along the trails, you will find sculptures, luscious fruit trees, beautiful flowers, a running stream of water, bridges, etc. I'll admit I'm not the best at taking pictures. Pictures are just my way of revisiting the still image, closing my eyes, and envisioning/ feeling exactly what I saw/felt at that moment being present there. 🥰😍 There just so happened to be a car showcase that day, so I took pictures of my faves.
Definitely wear sneakers, and I recommend long loose pants to stay cool. You'll work up a bit of a sweat walking the trails, but nothing too strenuous. While exploring, calló un aguacero😍 I just got under one of those beautiful 🌳 for shelter from the storm. Once it passed, I emerged from its shelter dry and kept it moving. It took me about 2 - 2.5 hours to explore. You'll come across other friendly explorers, mostly accompanied by their families. There is a bathroom near the entrance. Make sure to use it and stay hydrated.
Happy venturing, frinds! Safe travels😁

This place is beautiful! I always thought I knew everything about my roots but ended up learning more in the guided tour on a golf cart, which, by the way, was only $3. It was so educational from a cultural, historical, and botanical point of view. The whole place was impressive. They have an actual Taina remains in their museum. I will be going back. This is a must-see! Although they don't have a souvenir shop or café, I'm sure they will come back as they keep recovering from hurricane Maria.

I would give it a 5 because we had a Blast. But i must be fair and there is alot of side atractions closed or not maintained and the place have potencial to earn the 5 stars if the surroundings and all side atractions and little trais plus verry important the TROLEY was not up and runn8ng and its esential to go from 1 side of the park to the other

Do not visit the water park during the summer on weekends. They over sell tickets and use the green areas to park the extra people. Since every gazebo and table with umbrella are for purchase it just leaves a small amount of sitting and tables for regular admission. So every body from regular admission ends up sitting on the floor or green areas. I went in at 10:00am and there was already nothing left. It was just too crowded to enjoy. Lines for the rides will be 45 to more than an hour long. Kids were already exhausted after the first line. The wave pool was so crowded that when the wave started you were going to get bumped and stepped on by other swimmers. The shortest line for food was 15 to 20 minutes and that was the pizza kiosk. The rest of the kiosk, the wait for food was 30 minute or more, and that included the purchase of water. They have no water fountains, no vending machines, so if you need a water bottle, you will have to wait with luck 15 minutes in the pizza kiosk. My father is a diabetic and had a sugar deficit, we needed sugar and the line to purchase soda was just too long. Thanks to a visiting neighbor who observe the situation and already had her husband in the line for one of the food kiosk asked him for the favor. Her husband ended up purchasing the soda for my fathers sugar deficit situation. I am not going to criticize the no food policy. Almost every water park has it, and at least this one has re-entry, so you can go to your car for food and snacks. How ever they need to have better access to food and water. Someone with a low blood sugar, or suffering from dehydration that will require quick access to water or food would be in a serious pickle since there is nothing quick when it comes to purchasing food or beverages. Last, 3 of the water slides from isla chiquitines were not working.

I came a few years ago and loved it. I came again today with some family from the states, and I have to say what a disappointment. It has a lot of attractions closed "still" because of Hurricane Maria. What about the government??? Why can't they do something and fix it up. It's a beautiful family place to go and have a blast. It's also a wonderful attraction for tourists. Please GOVERNMENT do something about this great place. Thank you

This park features a 2.5-km. zip line and ropes courses through the jungle, making it one of the most thrilling tourist attractions in Puerto Rico for kids. The full day package includes access to multiple attractions and is best to visit in the morning to avoid large crowds. The Monster zip line ride is an incredible experience, though it feels shorter in retrospect given all the adrenaline running through your body.
Definitely recommend doing the 8 zip lines over the one long one that only lasts a couple minutes. Each zip line was SO beautiful, and a good length zip line every time! Best zip line I’ve ever gone to 🙌🏼

Ziplining dream. We did the 7 Zipline tour with our 11 yo, was super fun, not rushed. Felt very safe but still adrenaline rush and scenery is spectacular. Adult did Monster too and unless afraid of heights is a MUST in Puerto Rico. Nice restaurant and bathrooms on site too. The canopy tour and rope bridges are no longer functional so that was the only disappointment. Strict about height and weight rules for safety reasons.

This was my first time zip lining, and I was admittedly nervous and excited. Fortunately, it was safe, exciting, fun, and nothing I've ever experienced. The staff was friendly and bilingual, the views are breathtaking, and flying is exhilarating. Would absolutely recommend and would spend a lot more time here exploring.

The MONSTER!!!! 1.57 miles of speed, and you get to fly!!!!! The other ziplines are lots of fun too! Wished I could have done the bikes in the sky also. It was so much fun! It was a great day meeting new friends. We even had a rain shower. Then the sky got clear, and we could see from the center of the island all the way to San Juan! Gorgeous 😍
Our driver, Jerry, was the quintessential customer service representative. Very knowledgeable, really friendly, shared island history in our drive to and from San Juan, made sure we all had lunch and were well taken care of on our adventure. Thanks, Jerry! 🤩

This was the best stop of the trip. What an experience!! We did the 7 ziplines and the Monster and it was the perfect choice. The 7 ziplones get you warmed up for the Monster, which does not disappoint!! If you’re on the fence, don't miss out on this!!

This park was awesome. I spent a day here during our trip, and it was worth the drive out. We started with the normal zip line course and completed the 7 zip lines. Then we ended our trip on the beast and it was next level. That zipline goes FAST, definitely would do it again.

We had such an AMAZING time. This place is so well made. The staff are incredible, our guide was Sheila & Abnier they were so professional and extremely understanding since it was my first time. They definitely made this an extraordinary experience for me. My only recommendation is to be able to tip the guides with a credit card methods some of us don't carry cash to pre-paid events. I was unable to tip how I would of liked to. The restaurant above had some of the best food we had in our entire trip. The coffee shop out back had great coffee ☕ and delicious dessert 🍨 oh and let's not forget the view is to die for.

I highly recommend visiting this park for zip lining!! It was a wonderful experience with incredible views. We did have to wait up to 30 mins to get on the Monster and we got there after 11AM. We did the monster and the beast and enjoyed both of the views from those zip line adventures. I would highly recommend doing them both to maximize your time there. They also do have a gift shop there and plenty of parking up and down the hill.

Great adventure for family. Did the Monster/Beast combo. Very friendly staff. We were not nervous at all with the zip lines.
Came in pretty hot at the end of the rides, but not too violent.
At lunch at the pizza restaurant at the Toro Bike area. The main restaurant was closed. Good food and mojitos.
Staff said that Monday and Friday are slow days (this is Monday)
Roads up the mountain are sketchy.

The full day package was excellent! I loved having access to multiple attractions. It's best to come in the morning to avoid large crowds in the afternoon. The Monster was an incredible experience, though with all the adrenaline, it feels like a short ride in hindsight. The food was delicious as well and it was nice to have the food credit.

This place is beautiful! Riding up the mountain to get to it for 30min is a bit scary for Floridians but going down was better. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The equipment was clean usually they smell and feel dirty but this place it nice and clean. The zip lines we very high and the views while zip-lining were amazing. I’ve been to PR about 5x and this place was the best one yet to zipline. We did the Torobikes as well which was a little scary but not bad at all.

Definitely never thought I would actually do this, but I did! We only live once, so why not live it up. My hubby and I enjoyed ourselves. We celebrated his birthday with an adrenaline rush. We did the 7 ziplines tour, and at the end, he did the Monster, and I did the Beast

An absolutely amazing experience! Can't wait to do it again and this is coming from someone that's not keen on heights and gets dizzy on bridges! The views are spectacular, you can see for miles on a clear day. All the staff are brilliant, really helpful and great at keeping everyone entertained and relaxing everyone's nerves. If there's a big group of you, anything over 10, then the worst part is the waiting your turn. I chose the 7 zip lines so, after the first one the wait isn't too bad because the people that went before you have already started on the next zip line. 100% recommended this to anyone visiting Puerto Rico! Definitely buy your tickets in advance and make sure you get there 30 minutes before your time.

We were looking for something exciting to do before we ended our vacation and Toro Verde was the perfect idea.
We had a group of 15 people varying in age from 16-85 and we weren’t sure what to buy online so we arrived shortly after they opened and were greeted by an incredibly helpful and super friendly employee named Karina.
Karina offered suggestions and in no time we had activities planned for everyone for the best possible price. The teenagers and young adults had a blast on the Beast and Monster zip lines while the rest of the group took the Toro golf cart tour all around the park.
After all the fun and excitement, we sat down enjoyed award winning mojitos and a delicious meal at the park’s restaurant.
The property is absolutely beautiful and we were all glad we found this gem before leaving Puerto Rico.

This was an absolute once in a lifetime experience! My boyfriend and I had bought the Toro Pass which we both totally recommend for anyone! This included the Monster, the Beast, and series of seven Ziplines! All of which were super thrilling and offered the most beautiful sky views of this island! When purchasing, pay attention to the requirements such as weight/height and clothes requirements as tickets are non-refundable.

At first it started with an unprecedented day where they received way more people than anticipated. Even so, the employees were on their toes and still provided us with top service. We managed to do the trail on UTVs with Anthony aka Mendoza as our guide and he made the trail such a lovely experience showing us the sights of the mountains. Can’t wait to come back and hit the zipline finally and see these amazing people

It’s a great place to have fun. All the staff are so nice. Thank you Thimoty for all the recommendations. We arrived at 11:45 am did the monster and the beast and left about 3:00pm. After you finish each zipeline you have to wait for a shuttle it’s a bumpy ride since the road is not paved. Oncs we got to the main building where the shuttle drops you off we saw a heavy fog, something to keep in mind. With such a heavy fog you won’t be able to enjoy the view as much. Over all it was a wonderful experience and will go back since they much more things to do then the monster and the beast. There is an on site restaurant but we didn’t go there. Also we rented two go pro for $35 plus tax and they have cameras taking pictures as you zip-line and you can purchase them digitally for $10 we bought two.
Edwin Ramos — Google review
The view in the Monster was incredible one thing I gotta say is that Guides don’t engage with the visitors you’re just throwing yourself by the zip line and that’s it no kind of history or information about the zip line like height or duration. Got there at 11am finish the Monster at 11:40am and had to wait until 2pm to do the 7 zip line that was a long wait time for an activity.
We did the ‘regular’ zip lines and had a lot of fun! There were 8 runs and the views were spectacular. We also watched several people do the ‘Monster’ run and it looked wild!
Also the drive up the mountain was scenic and fun!

Best/only way to experience Toro Verde Park from San Juan with transportation. Park is a couple hours outside of San Juan and if you don't rent a car, there's no way there. Tour went well - the bus driver/guide was pleasant enough and got us to the park safely. The park itself isn't really a tour, it's more like you've paid for transportation to the park and for the tickets for the ziplines which worked perfectly for us. The bus doesn't play around with people not being at their designated spot on time - be there or you'll be left. Toro Verde is amazing and the ziplines are beautiful. Lots of places to sit and relax if you're not into Ziplining.

Do not recommend. Worst experience ever. This place is not well managed, we made a reservation for 12:00 PM, however no one show up until 1:00PM. After tour guide showed up, we were told that we need to wait at least one more hour, and there is no guarantee. Also they do not have enough equipment to be able to take the ride, the reservation means nothing. After we got to the departure station, people there said all of them are waiting for more than an hour. So including driving, we wasted at least 5 hours.
Isla Caja De Muertos is a deserted island and nature reserve that boasts scenic hiking trails and pristine, crystal-clear beaches. Visitors are advised to bring their own food and beverages as there are no amenities available on the island. It is an ideal destination for those seeking solitude amidst unspoiled natural beauty, with abundant opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventure. However, it's important to note that bathroom facilities are not provided on the island.
I grew up in PR. I’m ashamed to say I never visited this island until
Last October. This island has one of the best beaches of PR.
I’ve snorkeled all over Hawaii. The turquoise waters of this island are comparable to some of the beaches in Maui, Hawaii. I saw under the dock the bigger at boxer fix ever!!!! It was enormous. The eyes were bigger than the size of a cow’s eye!!!

They usually only make 1 trip per day — departing from La Guancha Marina at 8:30am sharp and departing from the island at 3:30pm. The boat trip takes 30 minutes. They no longer allow you to bring beach chairs, umbrellas or coolers on the boat, but they have chairs, umbrellas, kayaks and SUP’s for rent now also. And food/drinks are included in the trip.
The crew was great.
I was amazed to see cactuses were as high as some of the cactuses I saw in Tucson, Az. There’s a good hike to the light house. Bring comfortable tennis shoes. The hike can get steep in some areas.

This is a very nice Island off the coast of the main land. This is one of many small islands close to Puerto Rico. This one is by Ponce. You can catch a ferry/Catamaran/boat ride from La Guancha Marina in Ponce.
This should be a must visit location, in my opinion. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. If your ok with a walk to see a breath taking view, then please take the hike to the abandon Light House/El Faro. It's about 1/2 hour walk to get there and 1/2 hour back. Please do go early in the day and with proper foot wear, no flip flops/slippers. Take a water bottle and a small wet towel because on hot days, you'll need it. Also try wearing a hat, it helps out somewhat. Don't forget your phone or camera to take pictures and selfies.

My first time to PR. The hubby is from Ponce so of course he took me out here. Even though we came after all the hurricanes and the earthquake and it was in a way deserted because it didn't look anything like what everyone has posted. We still had an awesome time. The water was so beautiful it was so peaceful. There was maybe one other boat that came out but for the most part we were the only ones. I was totally in love with it.

Not that much to do here but relax and enjoy yourself. Southern Puerto Rico is special ✨. I swam almost the length of the island. The off shore currents weren't a problem the day I was there and there were only a few other boats to be seen passing by. The conditions did seem harsh, in a beautiful to look at natural way, and there was one nice sandy beach. Hiking the middle of the island is prohibited by the government after earthquake damage.
I thoroughly enjoyed the boat tour I took there with Island Ventures; everyone was so friendly. After my captain became concerned with my open water swimming; I was offered a ride in the tender by the Captain of the Pina Records yacht. I was insulted and declined, but next time I will gladly take the ride if I can go on the yacht 😂.

Parque de Bombas is a historic structure in Ponce, Puerto Rico, which was the island's first firehouse and later transformed into a museum in 1990. Located in the downtown area, it is part of the main hub of activity and surrounded by popular tourist destinations such as Plaza Las Delicias and Catedral Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe.
This is a wonderful little place to visit in Puerto Rico and a MUST see if you're in Ponce. It's located right in the central Plaza surrounded by great little restaurants and shops. The Parque de Bombas is a tribute to the original firefighters in Ponce. There are photographs of the units from the 1890's and early 1900's, memorabilia like uniforms, trumpets and bells that used to alert the townspeople that there was a fire and even a old firetruck that supposedly still runs. The museum is free, and the volunteers that care for the space are super friendly and have a wealth of information to share. They will even help guide you to fun things to do in the area around the plaza. We had a wonderful little experience there.

A little building full of history. We where assisted by local friendly police to cross the street and get to the front of the Parque de Bombas. Then a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide gave us the welcome, and began telling everyone in the party the history of this place. She was able to engage the attention of the little ones and explain everything in a way everyone could understand. Kids made questions and she answered them all. It doesn't take long to hear and see everything, 30 minutes tops. But it's a place you want to go visit and learn about Ponce's history.

Beautiful building and just amazing photo opportunities! A must see if you are in the area. Easy to find and right in the downtown area of Ponce so it's great to see while exploring. It's really fun to hear about the history of the building and the area so it's also a fun educational opportunity.

Parque de Bombas in Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a quaint firefighter's museum that has a lot of history to offer.
The museum provides a history of the fire service in Puerto Rico, mainly fire service in Ponce.
There is an antique fire engine in the main floor and memorabilias, old tools that were used back in the day, and head gear, just to name a few on the second floor. There's also a space where patches from other Fire Departments are displayed along with patches from other civil services, like EMS and Police.
The museum staff are helpful and attentive.
All had a great time at Parque de Bombas museum.
Thank you for the brave men and women and THEIR FAMILIES of the volunteer fire service for all that they do. The families of these men and women also sacrifice.

Head on over to the town square of Ponce Puerto Rico! There you will find el Parque de Bombas. Red for fire and black for ashes are the color of this fire station in center square of Ponce Puerto Rico. It is known as the Parque de Bombas. “It is a historic former fire station in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It is one of Puerto Rico's most notable buildings, with some considering it "by far the most easily recognized landmark in the Island." It is located at the Plaza Las Delicias town square, directly behind Ponce Cathedral.” You will learn the history of the eight hero’s who saved the town from a fire. There are volunteers who will tour you in the building. If you are a firefighter bring a patch and donated it to their wall of firefighters patches from around the world. Then you can head over for some ice cream at King’s Ice Cream shop and go gift shopping. Blessings 💕.

The MAP is a top-ranking museum in the Caribbean, boasting a collection of over 850 paintings, 800 sculptures and 500 prints. It underwent a $30-million renovation for its 50th anniversary and now presents an expertly curated display of European art spanning five centuries.
Beautiful art. Despite the ordeal that the island has gone through. The museum was not 100% open, but the staff and tour girl were immensely helpful and knowledgeable of the art. Still, we had a great cultured time.

I've been there a lot. The last time was back in 2018 for my birthday. Great art collection. A photo in front of the iconic stairs is a must. I hope they finish the restoration soon. I am planning to go again this Friday (June 2, 2023) with a guided tour that I reserved in advance. I am aware it is a limited collection/tour but I want to enjoy art once again. I'll edit my post after the most recent visit this week.

Even though it is not fully open due to the recent damage, this is still a great visit. In fact the highly curated and distilled exhibit with the in depth tour is actually rather relaxing as opposed to the fatigue of finding you have been in a massive museum for 6 hours! My guide, Jasmine, was excellent and true art lover who would converse rather than delivering a memorized speech. The shop is also lovely with great staff!

Beautiful paintings and classical works with a touch of contemporary art in the first floor. The place is also very esthetic. You can even see wild Puertorrican parrots around, which are endangered species.

The museum is NOT open. There are limited spaces on limited days and you MUST reserve in advance. After the 2 hour drive there, I find out about this by the sign on the side door. I call the number provided to realized I had wasted my time and money going there with no chance of getting in. “We posted it on Facebook” I was told.
Not enough words to describe this level of stupid.
The museum is a MESS and probably it will take years before we see its former glory again. None of this gravity is on the news.
Restoration of this institution is imperative and a matter of national pride but luring us there to see nothing is garbage.

Beware art lovers- this museum is CLOSED - even when listed as open on Saturdays here on google maps and on the sign on the outside of the museum. We got the word by a loudspeaker announcement. Whoever was doing the announcement, asked us to move on and not sit on the steps - we were sitting there to recover from a hot walk from the main square!

Really disappointed with my experience. The security guard let us in but there was no one working inside so we just walked around and saw all the art pieces on all three floors. There was only a dozen art pieces to see, barely anything. After that we came back down and there was finally a worker there in the gift shop so we asked about what there is to see and he let us now that there was a part of the museum closed due to construction and we had to pay $6 each. I thought we were able to see something else if we paid but turns out had already seen everything. I’m pretty sure you can just walk in and look at everything without paying but we didn’t know. I would not recommend coming here, waste of time and money.

I was looking forward to taking my daughter and even though is partially opened was an experience. Lovely gardens and peaceful . The guide was great , but the security was awful , hostile , treated elders and everyone like they were going to steal or something , making the experience uncomfortable for everyone. At least if security feels the need to call on people , use words in a respectful manner , treat elders with respect and remember the museum is for the public , bad treatment , means public wont come back. Also security called on elders for leaning against an empty wall.
Beyond that it was nice , waiting for 2026 for it to open completely and maybe see a change in security 🙄

Due to past earthquakes in Ponce the Art museum has suffered structural damage that have limited the exhibition galleries. The exhibits are extremely too few and it's not worth it the visit. I personally believe that the administration should make clear to people eager to visit the museum that barely a dozen pieces of art are in display.

Definitely a few hours is not enough to enjoy this museum! It is gorgeous!!! From the architecture of the building itself to the art inside! The souvenir shop is slightly expensive but don't miss it!!!! I would recomend you to call prior so you can get a tour guide. Also: if you're a student with a valid ID you get a discount! If you're going to Ponce don't miss the museum!!! P.S all the paintings, particularly scenery ones look way better live!

Empleado me señaló a mí de la rotura y no verificó daños por defectos de pieza.Tiempos de mantener a los clientes con una satisfacción garantizada .Y no como dicen sale 1 y llegan 3.

The Narrows water hike in Zion National park was my favorite until I took the Tanama River tour with Edgar Gonzalez. My family and I were all amazed at the beauty of the mountains, river, caves and suspension bridge. The Kayak ride through the caves was definitely the most amazing part which other tour companies don’t include. While we were all apprehensive of the early start, it was all worth it. The passion and love Edgar Holds in his heart for the town, mountains, caves and river quickly became contagious. We all left with this new found love and a yearning to return. We HIGHLY Recommend!! DO IT!!!!! Memories will be cherished for years to come

We did a hiking and cave tour. We followed the guide to a remote parking area in our own cars then hiked through the forest for a bit. His English was great and he gave a lot of great information about the plants and rock formations we were passing by. The highlight was kayaking through a cave and seeing the formations inside. There was an opportunity to swim after and due to a miscommunication, we didn't get to complete the rest of the river hiking tour. I was incredibly disappointed but the experience up until then still earns this 4 stars.

What an amazing adventure and definitely one of the highlights of our week-long vacation in Puerto Rico. I cannot say enough positive things about our guide Edwin. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and did an excellent job leading our group of 2 families (4 adults & 4 teenagers) up the Tanama river. Our trip consisted of a decent down into the river canyon, hiking up the river which required short swims during a few sections of the river, kayaking through an approximately 1000 foot long cave, and a suspension bridge river crossing on the return to the van. Along the way, Edwin discussed the history, geology, vegetation, and animals present around the local area and Puerto Rico. I would highly recommend this trip! You will need good water shoes and plan to get wet.

Edwin was our tour guide and he was amazing. You can really tell that he loves his job. We learned so much from him and he answered all our questions. We had such a great time with breathtaking views. I would definitely recommend a waterproof bag and water shoes. You get 100% wet. Also I wouldn't recommend kids. My kids are 12 years old and I'm glad that we didnt take them. It was a little scary for children. My fiance and I had a great time. Definitely a once in a lifetime trip

Went on a kayaking and cave tour for about 4-5 hours. Met our guide Edgar at the site (pretty easy to find) and he drove us to where we began our hike. We hiked down, kayaked through a cave, and then continued the hike on to the second cave. We were in and out of the river quite a bit and the hike itself was fairly intense. Edgar was great, gave tips for getting through challenging and slippery areas. We had a lot of fun. You will get soaking wet so dress and plan accordingly! :)

My 12 year old son and I did this and it was unbelievable!!! Edgar was an amazing guide, we pushed our limits but felt safe at all times. Unforgettable experience, do the long tour for sure! This was well worth the money. You must be in good physical condition to do the long tour, lot of climbing and hiking and trekking the river. Wear waterproof hiking shoes and bring a wet bag for your phone and keys etc. Perfect day!!!

My family had a great time on the caving and river trek. Our guide Edwin was very friendly and knowledgeable. He made sure we had a safe, fun and unique experience. I highly recommend for anyone visiting Puerto Rico.

The cave and kayak tour was my favorite day of our week-long trip in Puerto Rico. Edwin was the main guide and it was interesting to see all that he taught us about the flora, fauna, and caves that we experienced. This area was his childhood stomping grounds where he went with friends to swim, catch crawdads, and picnic on the banks of the river, so he knows the place intimately. He greeted the locals that we passed by (one man that was using a machete to harvest some taro in his yard, another was an elderly lady). The bridge crossing, kayaking in the cave, and drinking the spring water was amazing, but floating down another section of the river to a larger cave was even cooler. We took our 12, 10, and 7-year-old kids. The 12 and 10 year olds loved the exploring and adventure of it all and felt totally safe the entire time. Our 7-year-old was in a kayak with me in the cave and was fine and enjoyed the experience. When it was time to float in the river she was very nervous, but between us wearing life-jackets and me holding onto her, she did great and ended up enjoying it a lot. We floated through 2 sections of the river, each time being in the water for only about 5 minutes or less. My kids are pretty strong hikers, so the hiking and climbing over rocks wasn't an issue for them, but it might be for younger kids that aren't as experienced. Edwin was cheerful, professional, patient, and encouraging with the kids and we felt like we could ask him questions and he would know the answers. I would highly recommend this tour and would even do it again if we ever return to Puerto Rico.

Our hike with was the highlight of our week in Puerto Rico! What an indescribably beautiful place to explore, and both Edwin and Omar, our guides, were fun and knowledgeable. Everything from hiking up and down to the river, walking across the suspension bridge, kayaking through the cave and hiking through the river to the next cave was wonderful. The only thing that could have been better would have been a longer adventure; even after 4.5 hours we could have spent all day!

We took the hiking/kayaking tour with our three grandchildren, ages 9-15, who live in PR. We are 69 and 71 years old but in good shape, and our grandchildren frequently hike mountains with their parents. The sites through the caves and forests were ethereal and breathtaking. The hike is a bit challenging over rocks near the river and can be muddy on the steep forest trails, but if you are in good shape and have good shoes, it is not to be missed. Our water boots were perfect as we could hike and swim in them. Omar, our guide, was knowledgeable, informative, patient with the kids insistence on exploring a little further, and very attentive. When we asked about places to eat, he suggested La Familia Pizzeria, a small family restaurant about a mile east of the Batey office. We filled the kids up with pizza and spaghetti before our long drive back home. The entire experience was one of our best in Puerto Rico.

Really awesome tour. Our guides were super helpful and very patient. We had a 10 year old with us and I’d say the hike and kayaking was totally fine for a family with kids. The cave was so amazing to kayak through and the river was so pretty. I will say the hike down to the river is a little uncomfortable if you’re afraid of heights so just prepare yourself. It’s doable though!

We had a wonderful experience hiking, learning about the local history, fruits and trees, kayaking through the cave, climbing rocks, getting natural clay face packs, drinking spring water, and jumping into the river! Jorge, our kind guide, was most knowledgeable, patient, adventurous, and fun! Our kids and teens had a blast! Most recommended adventure! We'll be back. 😊

We took the rice cave kayak tour, amazing. Perfect for length for kids. Easy hike to the water, short distance to kayak through the cave. Enjoyed a spa facial. Tour guides were excellent, showing off lots of nature and history.

This was a perfect excursion! Our family of eight ranging from 14 years old to 45 years old all loved it! It was beautiful, a little challenging without being very hard, and just so much fun thanks to our two wonderful guides! Omar and Edwin made us feel safe, educated us on many things, learned all of our names within minutes, which must be so hard to do, made us laugh, and made the whole experience one of our favorite things to do in Puerto Rico! I would honestly recommend this tour, and especially Omar and Edwin, to anyone looking for a great excursion! Thanks guys!

Our cave kayak guide, Edwin, was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. Both Edwin and Omar were excellent guides and made the adventure so fun. When I got in over my head in water, Omar was quick to take my backpack so it wouldn't get wet.

Terrific! Vigorous hike up and down- roots, rocks, dirt. Suspension bridge, kayaks and a few in tubes thru cave tunnel. Fresh spring water and clay masks from the earth plastered on the face for a few minutes. Puerto Rican toady bird, many cool trees and plants pointed out. Jorge and Denise generous with time and info. Our group 13 fit people ages 13-56. Sweaty on the way to the river, pleasantly wet so not as hot on the way back. The drive also beautiful and zillion up- down curves. We recommend the whole thing!!

River Caving Tour - This is hands down one of the best things to do in Puerto Rico. Highly recommend Batey Adventures.
Our tour guide Edgar is Amazing!!
If you are driving from San Juan or Arecibo, try taking Road 10. The drive is beautiful!
Pack light and atleast carry a waterproof pouch for Phone, Car Keys etc. If you don't have one, they are available for purchase at their office. Be prepared to get wet. It's the best part :)

The 4-hour (actually closer to 5) River Caving Tour was an amazing adventure!
Edgar was a joy to get to know and provided so much info on the vegetation and history. The journey consists of slippery rocks, mountain paths, some rock “climbing”, and river trekking (you will absolutely be in the water). As the description of the tour alludes to, being in moderate physical shape will truly make your experience better. We suggest to be as “light” with what you wear/bring as possible. A WATERPROOF bag for phone for pics (there is no service), water, and a light snack is really all you need. You might consider leaving car keys with your car.

WOW what an amazing experience! I’ve been coming to PR my whole life and this was one of the best things I’ve ever done! My family and I did the River Caving Tour with our guide Edwin. The sights and kayaking were so unique and beautiful. What made this truly exceptional was Edwin. He knew so much about all the vegetation, made sure we were all safe, and was cracking jokes with us the whole time. He also didn’t rush the tour and let us truly enjoy it all. Could not recommend this tour enough! If you can, do it!

The river itself originates in the central region of Puerto Rico and provides a significant portion of the island's water supply. Was I scared? Maybe.
Was it worth it? Definitely.
Super safe and lots of nature. You don’t need a waterproof bag but either a waterproof case for your phone or belongings you don’t want getting wet. Proper footwear, snacks and water a must. Road is a little windy so if you get car sick, be prepared. Butterfly tour is recommended and nice that it’s only half a day. Guides are easygoing and knowledgeable. Recommend if you have the time and aren’t too scared of heights.

We had an amazing half day trip with Tanama River Adventures. Marielle was our guide and she was fun and knowledgeable. We hiked, river tubed in one long cave, hiked and swam down river to another cave and then climbed a waterfall on the way back. I would highly recommend this tour...there is no way you could find it or access the area without a guide!

Awesome trip. It is definitely a good hike.
All terrain shoes a must. Waterproof bag for phone and snacks and water a must. You will be wearing a hard hat and a life vest the entire time. Just FYI. You should be fair shape physically.

Amazing trip through the Tanama River! Our group of 8 had an awesome time with our guide Mariel. Google maps brought us right to the pick up/drop off location and after a few minutes checking in we were off on our journey. We were taken to caves, and learned all about the geology and animal life that makes them unique. After a few minutes hiking the beautiful mountain side we arrived to the river and enjoyed a relaxing swim. We were taken deep into another cave and saw hundreds of bats and experienced total darkness and silence as we shed our headlamps. Make sure you have good water shoes! If your looking for a physical and fun activity to do outside of old San Juan, definitely check out a tour with Tanama River Adventures!

A very memorable experience! The drive down the mountain and hike into the valley reveals some of the most beautiful views on the island.
The tube ride through the cave is amazing and almost surreal - walls make of what looks like an alien structure.
Our primary guide, Kevin, grew up in these lands - along with his family for generations. His enthusiasm in sharing this bit of paradise was infectious, and his knowledge of the flora and fauna was extremely informative.
We highly recommend this excursion!!!
PS Your feet will get wet!!! Be prepared with the right footwear!

We did the cave tubing tour. The trip through the mountains to get to the river was beautiful. The hike down to the river and up from the river is strenuous. It is worth it though.
The river and the pools are secluded and peaceful. Our tour guide did not rush us and let us enjoy the peace and tranquility.

Tanama River Adventures was amazing! I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, and the tour/scenery was incredible. Wear good supportive close-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that can get wet… because everything will get wet. This was an amazing experience! Fernando and Mariel were both knowledgeable and overall excellent guides. Being inside the cave and swimming in the beautiful, clear Tanama River were two highlights, but the tour is full of awesome sights. You will hike through very slippery terrain but just follow the instructions on the website for what gear to have and you will be fine.
Sandra Farms Coffee is a boutique coffee grower located in the mountains of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. They are known for their dedication to sustainable farming practices and traditional roasting methods. Visitors can enjoy lively tours guided by passionate individuals and indulge in artisan chocolate, creating a perfect pairing with their flavorful coffee. The farm offers an immersive experience where guests can explore the entire coffee production process from bean to cup.
We loved our trip to Sandra Farms!! Yes, the road is steep in places and rough the last few miles, but we (2 women) easily made it in a small 4door car. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about coffee and sustainable farming. We learned much and had delicious coffee and chocolate on the wonderful deck overlooking the valley at the end of the tour. Highly recommend!!

I've brought a few people to Sandra Coffee Farm for the tour. The road to the farm is rustic, but a regular car can make the journey just fine. Driving the steep windy mountain roads with beautiful views is part of the adventure. The operator does a great job explaining the history of coffee and it's production. Demonstrations of how to brew the perfect cup of coffee, with tastings is included. Coffee, chocolate and other items for sale at the end of the tour.

It was so amazing. If you’re not used to driving on Puerto Rico’s mountain roads then it’s a little scary getting up there but it is totally worth it. The views alone make the trip worth it. But the knowledge the guides shared with us about 300 year Puerto Rico’s history with coffee was amazing. And the coffee is amazing.

The tour was excellent. We have been on other coffee tours and this was one of the best. The owner Israel met us at the beginning and gave us an informative overview of the farm. Carmelo took us on the tour and explained not only the coffee and the area but pointed out the trees and plants. We enjoyed two of their coffees at the end and they were some of the best I have ever tasted. My only advice is to give yourself some extra time getting up the mountain to the farm. I would highly recommend this tour.

Interesting tour and beautiful views. The road to the farm is quite narrow and not easily navigated without a SUV. Carmelo is a great tour guide. $20 per person for the tour. Includes coffee tasting and chocolate. Can purchase coffee, chocolate, and shirts.

Carmelo was awesome! I don't drink coffee but I still enjoyed the tour. My wife is the coffee drinker, and she had to do this while in PR - we're so glad we did. The road to get there was the worst we drove while in PR, but still doable, just be careful. The information on the tour was great as was enjoying the beautiful scenery! Carmelo was super friendly and a great host. Would go back again if ever in the area.

My husband and I visited Sandra Farms Coffee in November of 2023 and had an AMZAING one on one with Israel. He was kind, knowledgeable, welcoming and the entire interaction was wholesome and memorable. Love the farm, love the location please be safe driving to this farm, if at all possible I would recommend going in a vehicle that can handle rough and rouged terrain due to the road or lack thereof to get up into the mountains. We had a car and made it safe and sound but I attribute that to sheer luck lol. All this to say, the coffee is phenomenal, so is the chocolate and the people behind it all. I would absolutely recommend a visit to this gem. Loved every minute.
Katherine R. — Google review
This was a gorgeous place for us, although my wife was scared so much she almost cried on our way to the farm, we finally made it there and spent a wonderful few hours. I mean don’t get me wrong, the road was pretty exciting because the asphalt was kind of ruined and that’s what made it very primitive with dirt/mud big pot holes; so better to have drive up there with an SUV; it’s more fun. The road up the hill all the way is so uninhabited and low/no traffic that makes you wonder if it’s a trap, lol! But just follow the map and you’ll get there. Carmelo did the tour for us, awesome dude with a rich background. We chewed and sucked the juice from a sugar cane, drank their own authentic coffee, saw a great number of exotic (to us) plants, fruits, and flowers, and enjoyed the breathtaking view from their balcony. Definitely, worth the visit and the trouble to get there; it was ecstatic and I am sure we will visit this place again next time we are in the area.

We enjoyed an intimate coffee tour with Israel during our visit to Sandra Farms. We set up our reservation via Airbnb. The tour started with a history of the property and owners, followed by the explanation of the different coffee plant varietals, picking and drying process while walking the property. The tour culminated with a coffee and chocolate tasting at their home terrace. It was a lovely afternoon.

This tour was amazing. The information was relayed in such a way that it was easy to understand and impressive. How the devils brew became such a staple... i never knew the history lesson was very interesting as was the hand picked process of the perfect beans. Self sustained, No herbicides or pesticides! We also seen and tasted from orange trees (china!) grapefruit, pine apple, star fruit, passion fruit (parcha) and so much more. The turmeric was cool and the views are amazing. The birds of paradise were my favorite. 10 out of 10 experience. Only possiable complaint is the road there is bad but it is a testimony to how resilience the culture is. And the ride is quite nice if u are expecting rougher ride. The chocolate with coffee beans inside must try as well. Thank you for an experience that will last a life time.
Marco Picarazzi — Google review
The road to get there seems sketchy. I was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and was just fine. Tight turns and very windy, but very manageable. Definitely an adventure in itself to get there!
Carmelo was fantastic and super knowledgeable. I am not a coffee drinker and was accompanying a coffee drinker here. I was very impressed with the process, and they sell chocolates as well as the coffee which I took a liking to! They have a full coffee bean or grounds mixed in, and can be bought online.
You will learn the difference between coffee from Puerto Rico and Puerto Rican coffee ;)
Gilligans Island is a small and beautiful island in Puerto Rico that offers plenty of relaxation for tourists. It's a great spot for couples, as the water is crystal clear and the island has plenty of shady areas to lay down in. The island also has food and drink facilities on site, so you don't have to worry about bringing anything with you.

First time here. Heard very good things about the island,44 but I'm thinking that was before Maria. The staff is very rude. No customer service. They don't smile and acknowledge the customer. They gave us a menu for food without explaining that you have to order before you get in the boat. The water was clear and warm but the surroundings are awful. The bathrooms were nasty and they smelled. When we got back to the pier, we mentioned that there was telephone number indicated to order food and we called over 30 times and no one answered. Imagine if there's an emergency, the person would be in big trouble. No way of getting an emergency call. We mentioned we were not satisfied and were going to make negative comments in their page. The staffs response was "do as you want" PR is in desperate need of resources like tourism but these individuals are hurting the island with their rudeness. We were a big group from NY and we will never come back to Gilligan's Island.

Pedro is very laid back and friendly. His family and home are beautiful (I highly recommend staying in one of his cabins). The dives are superb. We went down just days after a hurricane came through that impacted visibility, however it was still good.
Pedro's expert guidance in swimming with Caribbean Reef Sharks cannot be understated. It is an experience I will never forget. Go do it.
The wall is amazing. I recommend taking a light for peeking in crevices and obviously watch your depth. It is so easy to get distracted when swimming with several sharks around you.
After your dives, lounging at the mangrove covered beaches below Pedro's cabins is nice. The locals are friendly and there are nice beaches, food, and drinks readily available and almost everything in walking distance.

Had a great time diving with them at La Pared, located at Palgüera, in Lajas Puerto Rico.
Trip included 2 dives, first one escorted by total of 6 sharks at the end (not scary, it felt safe and were not too big) and the second dive on a reef.

They even change dive gear into a fresh tank in between dives and that was a plus!
Thank you guys!!

I've dove with Island Scuba now a couple of times and they are the best. Both Nayda and Pedro are awesome guides -- kind and friendly, super knowledgable of the area, the wildlife, and the best dive sites in Guánica. On my most recent dives, we saw so many Caribbean Reef Sharks, many different species of fish and invertebrates, stingray, and even dolphins. Unforgettable dives every time! Can't wait to dive with them again.

This is my second time diving with island scuba, absolutely stunning. Team is always professional and accommodating! Nayda always greets you with a smile and makes sure you are fitted with the proper gears. Pedro is one of the coolest and most knowledgeable divers I’ve met! He has a magic to call sharks for you :) And he pointed me to lots of fun creatures on our dives, including funny looking conchs with their alien looking eyes, and king crabs fighting against each other! Captain always helps you on the boat to get geared up and ready to go! Although if you have not dove for a while, I recommend to get a refresher before you join, Pedro’s dive is for people who are “ready to go and enjoy”, not a “try dive” for beginners.
