Beautiful beach and very good atmosphere! We fully enjoyed our 3~4 hours stay there. There were a ton of fish swimming around, easily seen from above the water. Many people were feeding the fish, which explains why there were so many of them, and why they were much bigger than other places :)
We had to pay 450 pesos to rent two chairs and one umbrella for the whole day, which seemed a bit high. Since there was only one vendor with zero competition, there wasn't really any room to haggle.
Mahatasin Azad — Google review
Best snorkeling beach! Come at 9 am before all the tour boats show up! Can be crowded on weekends, especially in high season. The reef out to the west is some nice fish peeping. Bathrooms are close and clean, minimal walking down to beach.
Christopher Sahlstrom — Google review
Beautiful, white sand beach with a public bathroom and lifeguard station. There were several boats with snorkelers but it wasn’t too crowded on the beach during Spring Break.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
Beautiful family friendly beach
Clear blue water
Not too harsh waves
Great for swimming
Had a lot of fun waking in sand and swimming with the kids.
Inspite of being small, it didnt get overly busy.
One issue for tourist is the availability of shade. There are people renting umbrellas and chairs, which are very heavily used and beaten up, we got broken chairs and exchanging them was a hassel.
Also no place to eat at or near the beach , so go prepared, especially if you are using Tqci/Uber to visit.
Boardwalk leading to the beach can become very hot hence the signs to walk with ahoea on.
Small but decent showering stations and bathrooms at the parkinh end of the boardwalk.
Lot of boats near the beach with multiple activities may block the view if you are ina mood to click pictures all the way to horizon.
Overall worth spending a few hours if you are in Cabo.
Nikhil Dogra — Google review
See what’s just off shore at the reef in this area - it’s very alive and beautiful under water.
Be kind to the wildlife here because a lot of different under water creatures live here 🤍🌊🐟
Had a wonderful day on a Cabo adventure tour that brought us here.
Jade Connors — Google review
We're so lucky to have such a wonderful beach. Great parking to start with, then new bathrooms, an eco friendly walkway down to the beach and fine white sanded beach and calm water, you can't ask for more. The water is comfortable as the yellow with black striped fish passes you, as well as larger silver fish. Perfect temperature and sunny skies. This is known as a snorkel beach. So there are many party boats just outside the beach front. You can rent snorkel gear here, too. No problem and enjoy your visit here!
Bob Morris — Google review
Chileno bay is the perfect spot your snorkeling adventures. However, be aware of the beach warning flags. When I went in, I did not pay attention to the jellyfish flag and sure enough, I got stung by them and let me tell you it burned really good. Had not been for the jellyfish in the water that day, it would have been perfect.
JM Segura C — Google review
Beautiful blue clear beach. Perfect for kids and family. Remember to take snorkelling 🤿 gear with you as you can see the fish near the shore. One of the finest beaches I enjoyed in my life. Good to visit in the month of Feb to April to see whales 🐳
Divya Patel — Google review
Very nice beach..Very safe..Got pretty busy as mid day came on..
Jason Woodard — Google review
Hidden little public beach with nice bathrooms and a place to rent chairs and umbrellas if you did not come prepared for the heat. Small little beach with beautiful crystal clear blue water. This is a great spot to do some snorkeling but you can pretty much see most of the fish from just standing in the water. The current is pretty strong and the sand is rocky and you sink a little bit. Nice little spot to come for the day to relax, hop in the water, snorkel, or just lay in the sun and relax.
MJ Stearns - Your Local Real Estate Expert — Google review
We had a great time at Chileno beach. The water was packed with boats and the kids found a couple nice sand spots. Bathrooms smelled terrible and there were no food places close, that’s the only thing missing.

amazing public beach. we couldn't have been happier. warm water. gentle waves. plenty of families but NOT overcrowded. no pushy vendors. group of nice guys that rent chairs and umbrellas as soon as you enter the beach. about $25 USD for a chair and umbrella... I thought that was more than reasonable. they carry everything over for you and set up the umbrella and take it down for you. tons of tropical fish in shallow water to view with goggles or snorkel. we tried another local beach but ultimately we came back here. highly recommend!!!
FLL 1225 — Google review
Small clean beautiful beach. One operator to rent out umbrellas, chairs, snorkeling gears, safety vest, paddle boards, no other vendors. Bring towels if you plan to swim. We swam with normal swimming goggles close to the shore and saw a ton of fish. The water was warm. Dec 28, 2023

Awesome and beautiful beach. Huge natural reef to visit for snorkeling loaded with fish. We also got to see two whales cruising by. Parking is big and usually easy. Must stop if you are in the area.
Rodney Brown — Google review
I think it is one of the best public beaches in cabo, the place has enough parking, super easy access, shower and bathroom areas, many trash cans so the beach is kept very clean, the tide is very stable and not aggressive at all. I had a wonderful day and the sunset was spectacular
Paulina Pedrero Miranda — Google review
Great public beach. Attached to a resort, but free access to the public. Ubered it there and laid in the sun. Water was gorgeous with tropical fish swimming right up to you when waist deep in water. Nice clean public showers available at parking area. Miguel offered us an umbrella for 500 pesos. He also had chairs and snorkke gear.
Tom Bromet — Google review
Beautiful beach, calm place to be. Rent an umbrella if you don't bring your own. Amazing snorkeling! They have updated restroom/ shower facilities and a nice boardwalk to get down to the beach. Ubers will take you there or pick you up.

Great surfing year round. The restaurant pictured burned down last week
Water is usually warm and no wetsuit is required
Very safe to visit here and nearby towns of Pescadero and Todos Santos.

Good kid beach. Sometimes good waves. Hasn't been developed well and the "Beach Club" is horrible and a narco front. Illegal for a Mexican place to block off a beach but they het away with it.

So beautiful. Just go. I love how the sand washes up on the beach.
Vanessa Reid — Google review
Good beach with many restaurants and hotels nearby.

First trip there. Good surf. Very different than Medano beach! Nice restaurant/bar on the beach. Plenty of chair and equipment rentals. Cheap massages on the beach! Easy access off the highway. Several dirt roads lead in. No problem in any car.

I've been coming here for over 10 years. They treat everyone with care and respect. The foods is great, the bar and drinks are fantastic and the people who work at Cerritos Beach Club are amazing.

Great beach!! Fairly quiet. You can rent table, chairs and an umbrella if you are going to buy food. Highly recommend the breaded shrimp!!
Pam Daly — Google review
Beautiful beach, great for swimming. Shaded palapas or umbrellas (for rent). Restaurant workers walk along the beach and ask if you want any food or beer. We enjoyed our time here!
Heather S — Google review
Well maintained Public beach with plenty public parking,, restrooms and showers. The Water is great to swim and good for kids. Bring your own food or buy it at the beach side
Joseph Fischer — Google review
This beach has free parking, showers (with signs that say using shampoo/soap is prohibited), and bathrooms. There’s a long pier where you can walk and take pictures. I see where people say there are 2 zip lines but I didn’t see any staff or signs for it (I went on a Monday at 10am) so maybe they’re closed Monday’s. I would have sat at the beach in the shade (there were also chairs/tables for rent), but I saw a lot of ants in the sand so I decided against it.
I’m not a beach person but between all the stairs/ramps/pier/restaurants there was a lot to walk around and explore. There’s also a bike path and sidewalk that goes along the road/rock wall that was shaded for part of the morning. There’s benches to sit on along the way too.
Michelle Pineiro — Google review
Lovely beach, very close to El Paz. They have umbrella/table/chair rentals for about 10 USD/hour when I visited in 2023, and there is table service for food and drinks. The water is crystal clear, warm, and calm.
Ted Mielczarek — Google review
Pretty calm ocean, sand is soft. There are restaurants and bars with servers that come down to the beach and offer chairs (plastic chairs, not lounge chairs) and tables if eating. Ignore the big container ships in the distance.
Tanya Enid — Google review
Great beach close to the town. Free parking and bathrooms. More shade than many of the other local beaches. Calm clear water suitable for swimming
Amber Smith — Google review
Stumbled on this place exploring La Paz from Todos Santos. It is a Tuesday 2/23, beautiful sunny day temp around 75, very light breeze. Easy parking, no crowds. Locals seem to like this spot. Couples and families here. They offer umbrellas, chairs and tables. Ordered some civiche and guacamole, large portions and so delicious. The big bottles of Pacifico seem to be a bit here. Very friendly staff, not much English but that was no problem. A pleasant mix of music from people's radios. The water is very clear and calm, and warmer than the pacific side. All in all a great place to relax for the afternoon.
Scenic, white-sand shoreline with clear, sheltered waters & a backdrop of low-lying hills.
Incredibly beautiful and peaceful since only a limited number of people are allowed in at a time. We arrived on a Sunday at 11:20 am for the 12:00 pm entry. There were 12 cars ahead of us and about 40 behind us. Most people gravitated to mushroom rock but we decided to cross the entire bay to another beach. We were alone and saw a green eel, several fish, and a beautiful heron. There is a small arch across the bay as well. I hope to return some day and highly recommend it. Shuffle your feet. We saw two sting rays.
Tiffany Giese — Google review

Nice beach, good to spend a quiet time.
The water is not deep and you can walk for a long time without sinking. You have to wear beach shoes because there are stones and they can hurt your feet.
Entrance is in shifts in the morning or afternoon, there are free palapas to settle in but you have to arrive early to grab one.
Clu Lo — Google review
Beautiful and unique beach. Very shallow. You can walk out a far distance with the water only to your knees. We arrived at 12:45pm on a Friday and we got in just fine. You have to pay a small tip to use the bathroom. The beach is clean. Please bring your own umbrellas, water, food etc. because nothing is there besides sand, rock and water which is gorgeous.
Leshontae Missick — Google review
They only take 3 different times a day, first is between 8-11/11-2/2-5.
I drove there as early as 0745 and there already was a big line but no biggie it was quick to get in,not sure what the others were saying but it was totally free, but they'll only give you 3 hours.
At 8 the water was a bit cold and windy by 9 it turned out just like the ones in the pictures The clear turquoise color was very beautiful.
It's so shallow that you can walk from.one side to another and see fishes down below.
It was just beautiful,i enjoyed every bit of it.
Denis K — Google review
Arrive early if you want a great spot. We arrived at 0645 and were pretty deep in the line already. Make sure you bring your cooler and some cold drinks. Otherwise it was a great experience. Lots of puffer fish and small schools of other fish. My wife and I really enjoyed our time there.

Beautiful knee deep water over a huge expanse. Well worth an early morning visit or wait until mid-afternoon. It's a protected park with limited services, kayak rental, a few SUPs. Pack out your own trash, pay small fee for porta potties. Some palapas (thatched umbrellas) if you get there early. Nice hike to the upper saddle ridge and if the tide is right you can access the beaches around the point. No charge to access.
Matthew Galvin — Google review
One of the best beach I have been to, the water is crystal clear. The beach is up to knee height so you can walk out for a bit. The water is very refreshing even in November. There are a few umbrellas but it’s first come first serve. Some can be rented but not really worth it. There is no restaurant and 1 toilet so be prepared. We brought our own snack and spent about 5 hours here relaxing.
hcbekardi — Google review
Beautiful. This beach is surrounded by rock formations and only goes up to your waist.. there are a few cabanas to lounge under, so go early. The have 2 entry times, 8am or 1 pm.. they only allow 400 people in at a time. You have to wait a in line of cars. They do not sell food or anything, as this is a national park. You can bring your own though. It's quiet and relaxing and breathtakingly beautiful!
Christy Watkins — Google review
Balandra beach is one of the most beautiful beaches i've ever seen before.
Water is clearly and blue, level is low so you can walk to much into it.
You can see different fishes.
You take your food and drinks because into the beach the are not stores and also take a parasol.
The beach has schedules so first investigate which are ones, I went to the 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

No Vayan!

Do not go! I will give you my transparent opinion. We went today, Saturday, April 20, 2024, they picked us up at the hotel located in San José del Cabo at 4am (4 in the morning) super early. After a tiring and long road of about 3 hours, we arrived at PLAYA BALANDRA. The travel agency with which we contracted the tour already has control bracelets issued by the government to be able to enter, what we know is that only 400 people are allowed to enter BALANDRA beach per shift and there are only two shifts a day. Before arriving they rent you an umbrella ⛱️ and two chairs for 300 pesos, and here the problems begin, since it is early, for some reason there is a lot of air, and it is a problem that your umbrella flies with the wind, and for two hours We were there, the VDD is that you cannot get comfortable on the beach because of the excess wind and the water is very cold. The beach is beautiful and the view is great...
But going to take a photo in the mushroom and seeing the beach doesn't seem worth it to me for so much time you spend getting there and not being able to swim comfortably. It is better for your time to go to other beaches where you can arrive more peacefully and enjoy more with less wind and more sunshine.

YOU MUST VISIT!! It’s absolutely gorgeous the sand is so soft and the water is clear and warm. They have two visiting windows 8-12 and 1-5. Afternoon is packed and there is a long line to get in. There is no cost but you should bring everything you need with you (cooler, umbrella, chair) there are bathrooms for a few pesos which was wonderful👍🏼

A must see place in La Paz. Beautiful beaches with breathtaking areas throughout from parking all the way to the arches and mushroom rock. Can’t believe we walked so much but well worth the trip.

Stellar spot! Great views. They restrict you to certain times. We arrived at 8:30am and had to leave by 12 noon. And they are sure to kick you out. Police use their sirens to make sure you leave and officials there literally kick you out. We ran a couple minutes behind and they told us to just throw our stuff in the van and clean it later. Its definitely a spot to check out.

Wow, Playa Balandra in La Paz, Baja California Sur is absolutely breathtaking! I've never seen such stunning scenery anywhere else. But I gotta admit, getting there isn't the easiest, mainly because the locals aren't always clear on how things work, or maybe they're just keeping it quiet – not sure.
Here's what I found out from my visit in March 2024:
1. You'll need your own wheels to get to the beach. Taxis can take you there, but getting back might be tricky unless you've arranged something with the driver.
2. Since it's a protected area, they only let in 400 people during two time slots: early morning from around 7-8 am until noon, and then from 1 pm to 4 pm. But be warned, there's usually a long line of cars before each slot, so it's best to arrive early to secure your spot.
3. And here's the kicker – there are no facilities at the beach, so make sure to bring your own drinks and snacks. Plus, remember to take all your trash with you when you leave.
4. While you're waiting, you can rent chairs and umbrellas from vendors, although I didn't bother.
5. There are only a couple of porta-potties near the parking lot, so plan accordingly.
6. Oh, and don't count on any cell service while you're there.
Despite the hassle, the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of Playa Balandra make it totally worth the trip!
Liv Mendes — Google review
One of the best beaches I've seen, shallow water, great for the family, also the beach has two shifts to keep it from being packed, you also have to pay a fee to enter.

The island offers excellent camping facilities for those who wish to stay longer and explore more of its natural beauty. With its striking landscapes and remote location, Isla del Espiritu Santo promises an unforgettable experience for all nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
5/5 amazing experience. We secured our tickets by going to the Malecon early in the morning. Got breakfast in the meantime. The trip is so beautiful & peaceful.
Some people even do glamping on the island. You get to snorkel in certain areas of the island.
I would recommend taking a jacket. Also, get the appropriate sunscreen to not damage the coral.

WOW...this whole area is just awesome..!! We had an opportunity to snorkel in the area, but we were restricted from climbing on the rock formations. There were coral in the area that were restricted and protected from placing a foot on it or near any of it. Even with all of the various restrictions, we still enjoyed as much of the snorkeling and exploring around the rock formations and coral in the area. We saw many varieties of fish and birds and several other unidentified life that was really great to see and explore. Kinda made us feel like we were the first to see it all! LoL
Isla Espiritu Santo is a nature preserve area for snorkeling, swimming, and hanging out on the beach. We saw a variety of the local sea life including manta rays, schools of fish jumping out of the water, various kinds of tropical fish, the sea lion pups and adults. The area is best explored with a knowledgeable local or a knowledgeable tour guide who can answer any questions about the area or the licenses needed while in the area visiting. There were a many people in the area visiting with their own boats and docked in the area open water and adjacent to the land to get to the shores to enjoy the beaches or have a nice picnic under the their shade tent under the sun. The area was just awesome.

Amazing once in a lifetime experience. The company were very accommodating to our travel plans and picked us up from La Paz on time. Our captain was friendly and relaxed and took us to some great spots. We touched and watched one whale for well over an hour, and then 4 whales wrestling for a mate. Highly recommend a stop at the island for lunch for the lobster and shrimp.

This is the second year I've come to Magdalena Bay Whale Watching for gray whale encounters, and once again I had an amazing experience. The morning breakfast and check-in experience were incredibly efficient (both essential for a non-morning person like me!). Our captain was so great at spotting whale spouts and bringing us closer to the whales. He did such a good job of making sure we had a great day, and we were lucky enough to encounter 2 whales who came up to our boats!
I highly recommend coming, and I recommend booking at least 2-days if it's important to you to have a close-up encounter. The whales are living breathing, autonomous creatures, and the captains can't force them to interact with the boats. So if you end up having a beautiful whale watching day with no encounters, take it as a beautiful day of whale watching, or come back the next day to try your luck again!
I'll be back next year :)

We had a really great time, unforgettable experience with watching and touching grey wales! Make sure to stay one or two nights in their hotel, Isabela B&B, we had very relaxing time, and great food experience there! Watching sunset was a great compliment from San Carlos town:)

Capitan Marcos and Capitan Dany were great. I appreciate they didn’t chase any gray whales (there were 4 each day we saw over and over again first week of March 2022) that I went out and about 10+ boats chasing them from other tour companies. When we were off by ourselves the whales approached us. I am thankful for the respect they give and enjoyed their knowledge and kindness.

Our Magdalena Bay Whales day out was fantastic. Our guide, Riccardo, was super friendly and knowledgeable, and along with our capitan Juan, gave us one of our best ever days with nature! We were able to swim really close to Humpbacks without stressing the whales who remained calm and tranquil. Highly recommended!

My partner and I had a pleasant morning boat ride with a little whale watching, but the overall experience fell short of expectations. We originally had planned two days, but weather impacted our itinerary and instead did a 1-day whale encounter. For the first few hours we didn’t see any whales, and didn’t sound like any other boats in the area had any luck. From what we understood the number of whales returning to this bay has been on the downtrend. We eventually moved out to the open ocean, and we able to locate some humpback whales. Returning to the bay, we saw a juvenile grey whale, and were able to ride up in the general vicinity while she made her way around. Definitely comfortable with the boat, but not interested in interacting, and felt oddly forced. Had much better luck whale watching in other coastal areas, and San Carlos is a bit out of the way. If you do choose to go here, would definitely recommend more than 1 day, as the whales may have different plans on any given day. Or maybe try the marlin snorkel. The communication was a bit confusing, originally we were told to meet at 7:30, and then last minute 6:30. Not a big deal, but we didn’t have great signal, and were lucky to see the mail. Also, as someone else had mentioned, they are not transparent with pricing as other tours we have taken in Mexico, and charge additional fees or taxes amounting to additional ~30%.

Wonderful experience here at mag Bay whales. Excellent customer service. You won’t be disappointed!

They charged us too much (132 instead of 100 USD per person) and wouldn’t give the money back. All the tours do the exact same but this one is more expensive (other tours are from 75 USD).
They told us we will stop at an island for an hour but we didn’t. The captain didn’t really bother if we see whales close. We had to tell him where to drive because he was not screening for whales..
Also it is not nice for the whales because 15 boats are chasing after 1 whale and even touch it. Please do not touch the whales!
Dennis — Google review
When you book a private tour as a foreigner you expect a captain with a little bit of english comprehension to give at least context to a 6-7 hour experience. The captain in our case just knew how to drive a boat to the correct spot and although he did his best in giving us a great ride, the whole experience just fell short with the language barrier and lack of experience.
The whole area is amazing and its definetely worth going on a tour but make sure you actually get a real guide and not just a driver.

We saw humpback whales jumping that was wonderful. Going to swim with the seals and snorkel with the colorful fish was great fun.
Jose drove the boat really well in the swell.

Magdalena bay whales has given us one of the most extraordinary experiences of our lives. The website didn’t often work and we could hardly find any recent reviews of snorkelling with marlins (seems most go for the grey whales) but don’t let that put you off. It was hands down one of the BEST wildlife experiences I’ve ever had. From the great food at hotel Isabella and the beautiful to the secluded island camp (don’t expect hot water showers or lots to do but you do get beautiful views, comfy beds, fantastic food, decent wifi and charging points).
We went in “off season” in November so there were hardly any other guests. Captain Miguel and “eagle eyes” Manuel were just amazing. We couldn’t make the 2-3h boat trip out to see the sardine bait balls due to the high wind speeds on the first 2 days. Instead, the alternative was looking for humpback whales and what an experience that was! The boat would gently lull on the sea and suddenly Manuel would point at nothing and the boat would surge forward and suddenly a giant fin would emerge and the and the captain shouts “GO!” and a moment later we would be in the water with these majestic and beautiful creatures. And that would repeat all morning! What an adrenaline rush, we must have seen over 10 whales (sometimes just a tail of a whale diving down). We were lucky enough that 3 whales stayed to play around us for awhile and even had a couple of breaches but on day 2 (38km/h winds…) we only saw 2 whales and another boat saw none so i would recommend booking at least 2 tours.
3rd day, we didn’t think anything could surpass our experience but it was THE most spectacular. It’s a long, wet and cold journey (~2-3h) there, and on our first jump we saw nothing and almost regretted adding on the 3rd tour but on our second jump, it was magic. A shimmering ball of sardines with neon blue marlins and fluorescent green and yellow dorados and sea lions darting through them hoping for a meal.
This is not a trip for the faint hearted, you do need a decent swimming ability as it’s the open ocean but most of the time the current wasn’t overly challenging and we never felt unsafe at any point. The other highlight of this trip is that the tours always left early, sometimes 6am which meant that we got there before any other boat and had the whales and marlins to ourselves, before others arrived. We would whole heartedly recommend that you book a trip with Magdalena bay whales immediately - it really is a bucket list adventure!

Restored 1700s stone Spanish mission set amid mountains, with a small museum & ancient olive trees.
We spent a week in Loreto and decided to take this quick day trip. The drive up was amazing and the church is in amazing shape. If you visit, don’t forget to check out the olive trees in the back. After the tour, we are a local restaurant! Enjoy & safe travels!

Absolutely breath taking it is an epic landmark of the Americas..you can't miss it if you go to Loreto.
I conducted an anthropological research trip to San Javier in Baja, California Sur, to examine the Jesuit mission established in 1699. San Javier is a distinctive example of a Jesuit mission in Mexico, and its significance is closely tied to the historical context of the Jesuits' expulsion from New Spain.
Following their expulsion due to support for Native Americans, the Jesuits left a lasting impact on San Javier. Situated in the mountainous region near Loreto, the town provides a unique snapshot of early American colonization. Notably, the landscape includes a 332-year-old olive tree, one of the oldest in the Americas, date palms from North Africa, and orange trees from the Jesuits' plantings.
San Javier offers valuable insights into Jesuit missions' architectural and cultural aspects in North Mexico and the USA. The mission's unique ties with Japan and its historical connections add another layer of importance.
My exploration of San Javier focused on unraveling its historical layers as a unique example of a Jesuit mission. Examining the architecture, flora, and cultural influences helped provide a clear understanding of its development, especially considering the Jesuits' later expulsion from New Spain.

An amazing architectural history piece of Baja California. If your in Loreto, you have to take the time and go. This mission is beautiful on the inside and outside! 263 yrs old and will outlive any structure that’s build today!

Beautiful drive up on a paved road. Beautiful mission San Javier and don’t miss the gnarly olive tree out back. I hear it is three hundred years old! Follow the trail. It isn’t far.

Beautiful Mission and grounds. Free to walk around and enjoy. Locals will offer a tour back to ancient olive tree and gardens for tips/fee.
One thing to note: there is only one main road in and out of San Javier. The secondary road Google suggests is a flooded dirt road not fit for most drivers/vehicles.
Pay per use bathrooms (Banos) available at the business across the street from Mission.

A lovely little village. Beautiful old church and grounds.
The streets of the town are lined with orange and lime trees. The olive trees in town were a nice treat.
The drive up the mountain was relatively smooth with only a few areas where the road had collapsed down the mountainside. Very scenic.

I gave this four stars because the location itself is about a four star but my experience with the tour guide that took me up there was five star. The church is about 35 km away from the town of Laredo and you have to climb through the mountains on a very twisty turny road and when you get to the town it is a very small place. It has a bar, a couple of restaurants and one or two souvenir stores. That's it. Basically only the locals live there. The church which was built by the Jesuits is fascinating but if I had just dropped in to take a look at the church it would have been a bit of a miss Unless you've done your research.. But once you get the tour guide to give you a complete briefing on the history of the construction, the way things are being renovated, how they survived up there, how they got permission to build the church, etc. It's a fascinating place to go visit in the middle of nowhere 6000 ft above sea level and over 300 years old. It is pretty amazing.

Photos can't describe the feeling you get when you arrive. The beauty and the history are unsurpassed. The village is a beautiful, tranquil Oasis. The caretakers are so friendly and willing to share and answer any questions. This is something you don't want to miss if you visit Loreto. Be prepared for an hour long, winding clime with breathtaking views of the Sierra Gigante and the bay, as well as some fairly sketchy road conditions... be sure to pay attention to the road.

Really nice area to walk and take pictures. Short walk from some great hotels and downtown where the oldest mission in BCS is located. Friendly people, too. They also provide boat tours around the bay area, though our limited time kept us from taking one.

The most awesome experience(in the real meaning of awesome) We did the 8 day trip and it was the trip of a lifetime. We saw Blue whales and Fin whales with calves and had close encounters with Grey whales and especially a newly born calf, who children on our tour named 'Joey Pickleface'. We watched Joey grow over several days, at an amazing speed,in training for his big swim up to the Arctic
Our guides and marine biologist were fantastic and the food and hospitality great.I cannot recommend the trip enough.
Anne Selby — Google review
We used Baja Ecotours to swim with sea lions and see the grey whales feeding and courting near Magdalena Is. Both were incredible biological events. A great bonus is all the fish in addition to the sea lions. At times you are swimming in huge schools of them and there is a great diversity of them as well. We went to their brand new whale trip out of a small fishing village and saw the whales doing it all - spy hopping(right beside the boat), breaching, feeding, right beside the boat, under the boat& more. The company is very professional and gave a discount when they had an engine problem on the way back. Our guides were exceptional- very well informed and talkative. Both trips were very educational.

If you want an incredible up close experience with the grey whales who come to San Ignacio Bay to have their calves, and then raise them until they are strong enough to make the journey northward back to the Bering Strait or other colder water, come to this rustic camp along the shore of the Bay. The accommodations are very simple, and the food is far from gourmet, but the experience and the quality, passion and heart of the people who work here is outstanding. You will see whales, touch whales, even perhaps (as I did) kiss whales. The mothers seem to want to push their babies over to you, perhaps to socialize them. We found that children's voices and laughter drew them to our boat more than any other sound, including various types of music we played and cooing and other sounds we made. You feel so close to these animals here, and you learn about them, their habits and habitats, and what their life has been over the centuries, and the way human beings have treated them. It's a fascinating experience and a privilege to enjoy it, even once.

You can tell they LOVE their jobs. Tour guides were knowledgeable, captains were very capable, the family that runs the camp were friendly and very effcient. Food was very good... no meat that I can remember other than fish. No bacon, hamburger, chicken etc. BUT very tasty! And they did have other food like peanut butter and jelly; bread, snacks, fruit.
I would definitely go back and recommend others to this camp!

Baja Ecotours has been rated by one of its owners….that’s me - as one of the best eco-tours I have ever made. That’s saying something for me now that I’ve spent over 25 years as a wildlife cameraman working for National Geographic, BBC, Discovery and many other productions and having seen some amazing wildlife locations and encounters. I’m always amazed at the astounding event at San Ignacio lagoon where mother gray whales give birth and encourage their babies to interact with us. Hard to internalize why, perhaps they know something we don’t about compassion and the bigger picture. I’ll always come back to San Ignacio Lagoon and the Fischer Family that run Campo Cortez

Stunning experience and a truly impressive operation. Don’t think twice to do this trip with these guys. We just visited with 6 family in 3 generations, age 13 to 80’s. None of us can think of a single thing that could have been better. The whale watching was the focus and incredible- we interacted closely with whales every single day. Boat drivers and guides mean everything, and these are so skilled. And the camp experience, from cozy cabins and daily happy hours to hot showers and local simple delicious food, fit the vibe perfectly. The camp staff are local and quick to laugh, most are family, and they clearly love making things great for their clients. Our group has done a lot of traveling and we’ve seen lots of whales. This still blew our minds. Go.

Such an amazing time visiting this date farm in December! I had never had a date before coming to this farm and now I am excited to try some new recipes. The staff was very helpful in letting us know what we should try. We ended up getting some dates to take home, the coconut covered dates, and a date shake. If we had more time we would have loved to go on a date farm tour.

A visit here was such a treat! I love dates, and this was the first time I have ever had them so fresh, or seen them actually growing on the trees! Magical! The store is large, well stocked with many choices and varieties. You'll do yourself a terrible disservice if you don't treat yourself to a "date shake" while visting!
They will even ship your gifts to friends and family right from the store! I sent some back to VT to my daughter and daughter-in-law law, and they loved them! They even have a cafe there as well! And the date nut bread, is to die for!!

We love dates! This was our first time to a date farm and were blown away by the freshness of the product and the information shared about the growing process. We travel a lot and find it hard to get good dates. We sometimes order from Amazon but are disappointed with what we get most of the time. We have seen overly dry dates and even black mold, making it a waste of our money.
The dates at Martha's Gardens were incredibly fresh, perfectly ripened, and organic! We purchased both Medjool and Hayani dates when here and loved them. Marth's Gardens sells Medjool dates in 3 types: Confectionary (for baking and the driest), Fancy (for snacking and less dry than the confectionary) and Premium (for snacking and the moistest type). We purchased both the Fancy and Premium and enjoyed both. However, for our pallets, there was not enough of a difference to justify the higher cost of the Premium.
We will back soon to try some of their other offerings and hopefully to take a tour of the farm. We highly recommend a visit to Martha's Gardens.

Where can you get a fresh date shake? At Martha's Garden in Yuma Az.. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have a wider selection of date varieties there, a few, but no sampler packs, that would have been interesting. It was too late in the day to take a tour and too late in the year to see the fruits on the tree.

Yuma Territorial Prison Park is a museum located in a prison that dates back to 1876. The prison was restored and transformed into a state park, where visitors can learn about its history through photos and historical pieces. There is also an interactive area where visitors can take their mug shot and a guard tower with a 360-degree view. It's possible to visit the park within an hour, but it's recommended to take your time to enjoy everything at an easy pace.
Excellent history lesson! Loved following the placards to learn the history. Gentleman at ticket area in gift shop was engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. The museum had plenty of photos and historical pieces. Fun interactive area to take your mug shot. Nice 360° view from the guard tower. Fair price for admission.

Volunteers are very friendly and helpful. We did the self guided tour and was very informative. Plan to spend about an hour here. Plenty of picnic tables and a restroom on site. So much history and so much to see. My children ages 10 and 4 enjoyed this place as well. Self guided tour with a brochure and a short video in the museum. A few sensitive topics for smaller kiddos, but we were able to navigate them. Don't forget the cemetery (entrance to that was a small path in the corner of the parking lot). We spent about 1.5 hours here, but you could spend longer if you read each exhibit in the museum.

This place has some great history and talks about being haunted but I didn't experience anything and the cells are all closed so you don't actually get to experience much.

Great history. Most noticeable are the bare feet of the inmates and rough stone floors, ankle bracelets and iron ball and chains. No AC or fans back then. Iron beds, but city residents complained when flushable toilets were installed as they didn't have them. Very limited on amenities so go prepared.

The Castle Dome Mine Museum is a destination that showcases the life of a mining town in 1878 through renovated and recreated buildings. This museum is a testament to the dedication required to maintain it, as it has been kept alive with new surprises added over the years. Visitors can witness the challenging but beautiful landscape that shaped the historic mining and settlement of this area.
We had a great time here! The road was paved for a while and then it was hard sand/dirt for about 9 miles. The scenery was beautiful! I love some history so I was excited to learn more about this place and it was well worth the drive! The background of this old mine town was Castle Dome mountain - WOW! If you do visit, I recommend you go during the winter months, since they are closed in the summer. Also, if you do go in the spring - beware because that's when the wild life becomes more active: rattlers, coyotes, etc.
The fee just for the town was $15 per person, but if you want to do the mine it is $75 per person. I HIGHLY recommend you do the mine tour - which includes access to the town. All in all we were there for about 2 hours.
The best part of this place is that it is Pet Friendly 😍, so we took our fur baby along with us. Please if you do take your pet, please clean up after them!!
Take food/snacks and water, as there is NO convenience store anywhere.

Be prepared to be amazed if you are wanting to see history!! So much to see. It will take you most of the day to look thru all these building in this ghost town! We didn't make it thru all of it and will be going back again when it cools off.
The mining Hull is a must see. FLourescent Minerals is spectacular!

Turn on mm55 from Yuma on 95, down a bumpy dirt road. Pretty cool place. $20pp to walk around might be a bit much. Spent about an hour and half checking out old buildings and machines. Walked about 1-2 miles throughout the city "if" you walk the whole thing. Might go back for the mine trip $75pp. Only 2 other couples were there at 11am on Wednesday so you may have the place to yourself.

Highly recommend. This is a great place to visit to learn about the early life of someone working as a miner. We were able to go directly into the mine, which was awesome. The buildings were cool to see. Driving the long, dusty gravel road does come to an end.

This place really is a labor of love to keep it going after all these years with new surprises being added. Your visit here helps it stay alive. What a great way to see the historic mining and settlement of this challenging but beautiful landscape. We really enjoy it and have visited many times over the past 15 years when we first discovered this gem in the desert.

Lots of interesting buildings to look at. They do a great job on describing each building and items in it. Very interesting to walk around and see everything. You can scan a barcode with your phone and that will give you a self guided tour of the place. They prefer cash for the entrance fee, however will take a credit card if you don't have enough cash, but it will cost an extra $1 per person. We didn't do the mine tour as it was $75 per person and we had a group. A bit too pricey for all of us. Definitely worth going to see if you are in the area. Parking is limited and when we were there, no food available although I believe they have some on the weekends.

Amazing mining town with such a great and interesting history. The preservation of items of the era is impressive. They have done a great job on the presentation.

Been there twice, last summer in August.. it was pretty miserable in the heat so we went last week and took friends. It was a fun and very interesting visit that I'd recommend... we ended up eating over at the landing in Lake Martinez but next time we'll pack lunches and have a picnic at the mine... there were 5 rattlesnakes spotted when we went so be prepared and be safe as it's a long drive to a hospital and I forgot to check if they stock antivenom for an emergency.

We loved this place. So magical and pretty. The gravel road is not as bad, if you have a small car you should be ok if you are careful. We loved the experience. $15 dlls for each adult and $7 small children. Smaller kids are free. They have sodas, water and chips for sale for $1. It takes about 1 1/2 to to hours to tour the whole town. It was worth the drive.

The replica old Town they have set up is incredible. Great staff! The actual mine tour was beautiful. Learned a lot. The road heading out there is pretty rough, dirt road. We were in our truck but many people were in cars. Highly recommend.

Castle Dome Mine Museum, it was a really cool museum! The only downside is that it's a bit off the beaten path down a dirt road, but it's definitely worth the trip. The museum is filled with interesting exhibits and artifacts that give you a glimpse into the history of the area. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Off the path and a rough road. Neat museum about the 1800's mining town. Great way to spend an afternoon with a side tour of the mine. I really enjoyed it. There is a food truck restaurant but it is only open on Friday,Saturday and Sundays. Neat stories in some of the exhibits.

Lots of history here. The drive out to the town is a very rough (washboard) gravel road, so beware. The town is amazing, but. An also be a bit confusing, despite the I'm weed buildings and audio self tour website. There needs to. E a map of the grounds, so parts don't get missed. The cost is $20/adult, and cash is king.

This is one of the BEST ghost towns and mines that the average person can visit! From the incredible mine tour that show cases countless rare and amazing relics of the 1800’s mining to rolling ore cars and a massive stope of fluorescent minerals making a spectacular show! The ghost town is well kept as well as amazing to walk through. My favorite is the saloon of course!

We had a good time! My kiddos loved exploring the old ghost town and seeing all the antiques. It took us a couple hours to walk through. Can’t wait to do the mine tours one day! Beautful scenery out this way too.

Castle Dome Mine Museum with mine tours. 😊
What a great historical place! We had a great time wandering the sites and exploring. They have it set up so very well and you actually get to walk in and see things, touch things and explore. They let you and want you to explore. Just not the mines 🤭.
It’s a great place and highly recommended.
L. A. Cetto, an established winery with a history dating back to 1928, is now the largest producer of table wines in Mexico and renowned for their production of Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel. The vineyard boasts a spacious tasting room adorned with rustic wood ceilings and floor-to-ceiling racks of wine bottles; however, it can get crowded on weekends.
Awesome winery! Loved the tour guide and info I learned so much history. The wine tastes so yummy. Totally recommend stopping there on your next wine tour. I didn’t need an appt. It was just two of us and the wait was about 20 min.

I went Jan 12th weekend and there was about a 20 min wait for the tour to start but they run I think every 30 min. They have a cute mid sized wine bottle you can take pictures with and a nice little outside patio with a bar to be at while you wait for the tour. The tour itself is VERY informative, our tour guide Isaac was very informative and very friendly. When you purchase a tour ticket you also get a wine glass, keychain, and your choice of wine flight (prices vary but I highly recommend the cheapest one - great quality for the price). I went during an off season so I did not have to make a reservation and the tour was very personalized. The wine was GREAT and they were generous with their portions, they have a lot of different varieties here and was very reasonably priced! I would definitely come again and this was my favorite place to visit during my whole trip in Valle de Guadalupe.

Monte Xanic is a 300-acre vineyard located in the Valle de Guadalupe, in the heart of the Bodega region. The winery produces world-class wines, including a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. It is important to note that advance reservations are required, as guards will only open the gate once they've checked that a reservation has been made.
Loved the winery. It's a beautiful property and our guide Abril was great. You do need a reservation though. Tried to come here a year ago and was turned away at the gate. This time we had a reservation and tried some very good to great wines, for a tour of the winery, and were able to enjoy time just hanging out there. At the end they let us keep our wine glasses. The Gran Ricardo wine has some hype to it; tried it and it is worth it. Ended up taking a bottle home.

One of the very best wineries in Valle de Guadalupe. Monte Xanic is a great place to enjoy wine tasting. The venue is beautiful and you can find yourself spending much time there. Our favorite wine is the Gran Ricardo. So delicious and it has the very best name out there. There is also a restaurant at the location that sits next to a small lake. Go on out there and see why the Gran Ricardo wine is so delicious.

Fantastic bottle service with a view of the pond. Some of the best wines in Valle, specifically calling out their award winning Sav Blanc. They do not offer tastings at the pond area, you can get tastings up in the main building with a reservation.

Nicolas our tour guide was so kind, fun and friendly, he took the time to explain every little detail to us. The wines we tried were out of this world, if they were sold in Canada we would drink them everyday!

What an incredible place. Monte Xanic was our favorite winery we visited in the area by far. Not only was the wine superb, and the views stunning, but our tour guide / wine tasting “guru” -Sara, really knew her stuff. She truly knew how to describe wine in a way that made us want to buy all of the bottles in the winery. The wine in an of itself though tasted delicious all the way down the line (I think we tried all of the ones on the tasting menu, plus the ones they served by the glass - ha!!) it’s also really cool to note that this winery was truly started by Mexicans for Mexicans which made it feel like a truly “Mexican wine” experience which I think is what we wanted to go for when we came to the area. We highly recommend this winery and we will definitely be back.
Thanks Sara for being the perfect guide! Next time we come back, I hope you’re managing the place!! 😊

Salvation Mountain is a distinctive and offbeat attraction located on the way to Los Angeles. This quirky landmark features a mound made of adobe, adorned with vibrant religious folk art. Created by Leonard Knight, the project is free to visit and allows visitors to walk up the mountain, as long as they remain on the yellow brick road. There are restrooms and shaded areas available for those who want to explore this unique destination.
Seen this in the movie, "Into the Wild" and put it on my list of must see. Visiting the high desert decided to take a day trip here. Nice drive along the Salton Sea on a paved two lane road. Be sure to gas up, have water, sunscreen and hat. Arrived in the morning and it was already hot. Easy to find, used GPS. There is parking off the road. The area was clean and a port-a-potty on sight was surprising clean and serviced. An on site care taker was friendly and working on maintenance. Information flyers and postcards are available which I loved and took advantage of. A donation box is securely set up and suggested. There was also a selfie shelf to take photos. Genius! You can wander and explore where permitted. Sunset photos would be the best. A California icon that is worth the time.

If you are on a road trip and have time to swing through this place by all means check it out. But it’s basically a bunch of funky artwork and a glorified homeless encampment. Everyone there was nice and you can get some cool photos for IG but overall not worth making a special trip unless you are really bored.

Visited in April 2015. A truly amazing and unique place that left me inspired. Bit of history: Leonard Knight, born on November 1, 1931, was the 4th of 6 children. After serving in the Korean War as a vehicle technician, he embarked on a remarkable artistic journey. Knight’s passion for spreading love and God’s message led him to create something truly extraordinary.
In the 1970s, Knight painted “GOD IS LOVE” on a hot air balloon crafted from patchwork materials and a stove. When the balloon failed to take flight, Knight prayed and felt that God’s response was to build a mountain. By 1984, he discovered Slab City, a transient and retiree commune, where he decided to leave a “small monument” made of concrete and paint. Over the next five years, the project grew, and the current Salvation Mountain emerged. Leonard Knight passed away in 2014 but was able to visit his beloved creation one last time in May 2013.

I wanted to be more impressed than I was. A lot was closed off unfortunately. I appreciate art and the time that goes into it but overall it was just ok. The best part was seeing the Salton Sea along the way to the mountain. The area is definitely a no man’s land. Strong smell of human waste in the air. Not worth a 6 hour round trip drive. Honestly, once you’ve seen these photos you’ve seen it all.

Yes I first knew about this place from Into the wild. Always wanted to follow Chris’ foot steps to pay a visit. Unfortunately couldn’t be here before Mr Knight passed away in 2014. (Instead I hiked the Stampede trail to find the magic bus in Alaska the same year). It means a lot to me to be able to get here finally. I drove here from Toronto, Canada. Made a little donation and wishing the legacy can be continued.

What a beautiful art piece! They have a selfie station here so you can get a lot of pictures with the art. I went on a day after it had rain so you can't really get up close because the piece is very fragile. They also let me send up my drone and take pictures from the sky. It looks beautiful, both on the ground and from above. Definitely recommend to anybody who loves outdoor installation art. The message is also something we all need to hear.

Came during a weekday afternoon in Feb - weather is pretty mild but hot compared to rest of SoCal (can’t imagine what it’s like in summer). Nice colorful monument that can be seen from faraway, definitely worth a visit if at Salton Sea otherwise not sure I drive all the way here. Take some time to explore Slab City while at it. Expect dirt road and eclectic surroundings.

In the vast desert wilderness lies an astonishing art installation. Gratitude to the creators and caretakers who transform ordinary objects into art amidst the barren expanse. Drove here with friends while on vacation during the early few days of January. We went on a Wednesday during the afternoon. We traveled from Joshua Tree to Salvation, which was around 120 miles. It was an extremely long drive. The roads near Salvation Mountain are very rough despite being paved with asphalt. I would advise taking an SUV or other car that has a bit of ground clearance. We got stuck in the sand near a road-side stand because of this.
Despite the setbacks, Salvation Mountain is an impressive place, and the story behind it is very interesting. It's about spreading a message with peace and love. One thing I would also mention is to avoid the bathrooms since they aren't sanitary.

Offering a wide variety of outlets from outdoors, indoors, apparel, cosmetics, etc.. worth checking out if in search of more specific items and stores by specific vendors as Las Americas Premium Outlet might have it for you. Las Americas Premium Outlets is an awesome experience for the family. The atmosphere is so family friendly. This mall is home to over 100 stores which include shop exclusive brands such as Gucci, Prada, Victoria's Secret, Pottery Barn, Lululemon Athletica and more! Known as the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, North Face, Adidas, Columbia, Aerie, Avon, American Eagle, and Bass. This premium outlet center offers plenty of parking spaces so you can move around to different shops with ease. There are also a handful of eateries here, such as a bubble tea cafe and pizzeria. The furniture was nice quality. I didn't walk around and see what all stores were around but from what I I see they have a big variety to choose from. I would recommend visiting here with your family. It is best to give yourself two days to explore all the stores.

I visit the outlets here on occasion and there's plenty of stores and things on sale. Parking is free and available but during holidays it can be hard finding a spot. The worst part here is exiting through the border area where traffic gets jammed.

Definitely try tacos from one of the trucks parked outside! Good outlet to shop! Not some many collections though!

Lockers! I have been trying to find lockers near the border for quite a while. There are lockers available in this mall, which is practically next to the border. My girlfriend and I stashed a large quantity of liquor in here before crossing the border into Mexico. If we hadn’t done that, bringing the liquor back would’ve been problematic at immigration. It’s next to the Puma store. You can rent for multiple days. The larger lockers will easily fit suitcases.

Good outlet center in San Diego. Not the best outlet in the world but they have decent offers from different brands. In my opinion they could have more brands. But it is ok…

In this shopping center you can find everything at good prices and it is close to the border with Tijuana, you can cross quickly, do your shopping and return to Mexico on foot faster than by car. I have a lot of fun when I go with my mom.
Lions Tigers & Bears is a non-profit organization that aims to provide a safe and protected environment for abused and mistreated animals. The organization relies on the dedication of volunteers who often have other jobs but still support the mission. Visitors can take a two-hour informative tour and donate the admission cost towards helping the animals. Additionally, there is an online Wishlist available if visitors wish to bring donations to contribute towards their cause.
Great place to learn about the animals they have there. Even with the two fences, the small groups setting allowed us to get some great views. The 2 hour tour was perfectly timed and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Woooow! This was a birthday gift from my friends. It was truly a great experience. We got to meet Bobbi and she was amazing. Michelle and Annie were very knowledgeable guides. It's definitely worth the trip. Learning about the stories of these poor animals and so many others in the US. It's time to get aware and protect these beautiful creatures. Thank you everyone at 🦁 🐯 and 🐻 for such an awesome first experience.

What a great find. The day spent at the park was fantastic. The tour guide was very good and the exhibits were very nice and the animals were very active. Buy tickets before getting to the park to make it easier. Love what they do for rescues. Will go back to support this cause.

Amazing experience with some absolutely gorgeous wild animals! This reserve saves and protects wild animals taken in as pets or abused in industry and gives them acres of land to recover and be safe. Fully non-profit organization that survives off donations and volunteers! Love it! 🥰

What an amazing experience!! Getting to see these animals up close and was breathtaking. All the animals are so well cared for. My husband and I were able to feed Louie the lion and Suri lioness, Nola the white tiger and Conga a super cute leopard. So cool!! Beautiful property. Our tour guide was kind, very informative, knew so much about each animal and answered all of our questions. Had such an amazing time.

Love the mission of this non-profit. It makes you feel good to see so many volunteers dedicating their time and efforts to these animals. Some of these volunteers have other Monday-Friday jobs, but they are there to support the mission. These animals deserve to live the rest of their life in a safe and protected environment. They have been abused, mistreated, and some left to die. The two-hour tour was very informative and we learned a lot. After the tour they allowed us to roam and revisit any encounters we liked to see again. The cost for admission is for a good cause, it's a donation to help these animals. They also have a Wishlist on their site, if you wish to bring donations.

One of the greatest experiences we’ve had in a long time! The employees and volunteers there educate people about the care of the animals. They explain how they rescue these poor animals from hideous side shows in circuses. I would highly recommend it

Great sanctuary for many animals. The location is beautiful, and the volunteer guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. We paid for the experience to feed one of the animals, and it was something I will never forget. They're doing great work here and definitely need all the support they can get.

This was such a phenomenal experience! Because of the weather we didn't get to see the bears but just another reason to come back! Bonus because of the weather our group was super small so it felt like a private tour! The staff are so kind, so knowledgeable, & it is clear the primary focus of the sanctuary is the animals well being & education, not pandering/entertaining the public. The work they are doing is so important & it was an entertaining & educational outing!

We had a good start of our day in Alpine out with the lions tigers and bears and what a nice time. We had a tour guide who was very informative (I couldn’t get a video without someone talking) my only grumble… personal pet peeve. :) We left thankful the money we spent is all for these beautiful animals to have a safe life. My 16 year old wanted to obviously pet and play with these beauties.. and if we can go to a place where we can do this we need to pay attention to why.. (sedation?) is what I learned.
The enclosures allow for you to watch these beautiful creatures roam their homes. I would suggest if you have younger toddlers who are less likely to be able to listen to the “no running” you might be want to give them another year to have them really enjoy this great piece of land.

The owner's story is inspiring. The property is beautiful. The tour guides and employees/volunteers are all very friendly. The ticket prices are worth what you get. The stories of all the animals is bitter-sweet.

All the animals are well taken care of and loved. Money well spent and all goes back into the care of the animals and their habitats. Thank you for creating a sanctuary for these animals so they can spend the rest of their days in comfort and happiness. We will definitely be back.

Amazing. This place should not exist but because people think it would be cool to have a wild animal as a pet then realize they can't handle it anymore, this place is the animals safety net to live out their days. Thanks Bobbi and all your volunteers for giving these animals their best life after the hell they have been through. For those interested, this place is a top notch experience and incredible facilities for both animals and us humans. They even have one you can pet. Tom was a good boy.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a massive wilderness area that boasts an abundance of hiking trails, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, and cacti. It's considered one of the richest natural-history museums in the nation and features stunning desert vistas that are unmatched in their privacy and beauty. Camping opportunities abound for those seeking a more secluded experience, with plenty of space to explore off the beaten path.
We loved our stay at Blair Valley. We got a beautiful campsite. It is a wonderful time of the year to visit. There is so much to see here. The desert is in full bloom this time of year. Will definitely return.

Beautiful slot - but NO signs as to how long and/or if it was round trip. The state park magazine said 1.5 miles round trip - but it was actually closer to 3 and there were 2 other groups down there trying to figure out if they should turn around or if the trail would loop back. Both ways worked, but there was no sign and no obvious way out.

We had a wonderful excursion at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It was so delightful to see the dry desert come alive in swathes of bloom as far as the eye could see
... all the way to the foothills. A glorious sight.
These were grouping of a variety of plants in colors of yellow, white, magenta, orange, and purple. Also, cactus blooming in some areas. The interesting, rusty giant metal sculptures of varying creatures were so fun to see. Make sure your first stop is at the states visitor center to get the scoop on the current bloom sites, the history, reliable maps, botanical display, hikes, and see an interesting film. It will assure you get the most out of your visit.

This state park has so much space that it's incredible. If you want privacy take your car a little off the beaten path and there is plenty of spots to camp and enjoy the night. The desert is magical, spend a night out here and experience it yourself.

This is a wonderful place to explore for a day. We spent about two hours here, discovering the statues and enjoying the picturesque landscapes. It gets pretty hot here, but the desert is really nice. The roads are good, not if you want to see the statues close by though.

We saw one of the most breathtaking views of wildflower blooms here! The visitor center is good with a lot of interesting information about the park and its wildlife. Must visit if you are intrigued by desert ecosystems.

I love primitive camping and backpacking in Southern Anza-Borrego. Quiet serene, lots of big boulders and Ocotillos.
I used to say the desert was mostly a wasteland, but I've learned so much about life in the desert the past 7 years. From water sources to seeing humming birds and dragon flies. The plants, the animals and the history.
There's so much to experience.
Avoid Mid June - Mid Sept due to heat. Winter is never too cold.

Nice area, can be warm and a bit breezy, with good roads. There is wonderful visitor center with lots of interesting books and info. It even has an informative short movie and the gift shop. You can buy food or bring a picnic and enjoy the park in the center of town that is dog friendly, has restrooms, and the kids can play.
Kathy Parsons — Google review
An extraordinary desert with miles and miles to explore. There is so much stuff in this state park to discover, you will need weeks to enjoy everything it offers. From spectacular dark nights for star gazing to a natural Oasis in the middle of dry land. Miles and miles for off road vehicles to enjoy. A BLM shoot area nearby to bring your guns and shoot whatever it is that you shoot. Deceloped campsites are abundant and primitive campsites are also around. Tons of RV glamping for your enjoyment. Bring water as it can get pretty hot very quick, and please keep your dogs hydrated and cooled.
I recommend visiting:
- The wind caves if you have high clearance vehicle and 4x4.
- Borrego canyon camp site. Walk a mile in to find the Oasis
- Slot canyon. No off road or 4x4 needed here. Bring a camera for sure!
- Tamerisk Grove campground for cabin sleeping, but you must bring your own sleeping pad.
- Drive up to Julian (outside of Anza borrego state park, just about 39 miles west) if you have time, but do it in the early part of the day as most shops and restaurants close earlier than normal.
- If you have dirt toys bring them, the Ocotillo off road area is just phenomenal.

I thoroughly enjoy this, the largest state park in CA. The wild flowers are beautiful this winter. There is lots of great history to learn at the visitor centercand the park is designated as an International Night Sky destination. Many campers bring their off road vehicles in certain designated areas. A very nice park.

Amazing state park! We didn't even get to see everything but the parts we saw were so beautiful! Font's Point at sunset was so gorgeous but you definitely need 4 wheel drive to get there. The slot canyon hike was great. Visitor center was nice and the staff there were super helpful in helping us choose which hikes to do and how to get there. The Palm Canyon Oasis trail was absolutely gorgeous and 100% worth taking the time to hike. Can't wait to come back someday!

This state park’s wildflower super bloom season is so beautiful and picturesque with the backdrop of the mountains. With the cool breeze, the calming scent of the wildflowers fills the air and soothes the soul. And the metal sculptures add a cool touch to the park, especially the dragon one.

Visiting all of the sculptures is a must! Do watch for scorpions and rattlesnakes in the summer. It’s way too hot in the summer for dogs unless you plan an early morning. It’s considered an International Dark Sky do Milky Way photography is amazing too!

Great place, from the various palm oases to the statuary field (which I will separately rate) and more. And, most of it's free! Note: if you're driving a rental-car company SUV with highway tires, take seriously the off-highway roads with "loose sand" signs.
Steve Smith — Google review
Since this is the largest state park in California, expect to do a lot of driving. The area is surrounded by mountains and desert floors. There are numerous washes throughout, but there's very few signs from the road to give you a warning where it is. By the time you see the small sign in the wash, you've gone too far and have to turn around.
We stayed at Tamerisk Grove CG but probably should've stayed at the Palm Canyon CG due to size limitation. There's also over 500 miles of road for free boondocking with 30-day stay per calendar year
We did see the Truckhaven Rock area, Font Point overlook, and hiked the Slot Canyon out to the Borrego Badlands. Excellent spots if you have a couple of days.
While not part of the park, we did visit almost all of the large sculptures seen around the city of Borrego Springs.
We have a 4x4 pickup truck but not high clearance. Recommend it for some of the more technical roads. Most washes were fine with just a 4x4 vehicle.
We recommend visiting this park if you happen to be in the area.

We went to see the flowers - and we were not disapointed. We skipped the vistor center which was overwhelmed, but as locals we just followed the directions of the rangers who were directing trafic, with calm professionalism depite the chaos all around, and we were not disappointed! I love this State Park and try to go durring the bloom every Feb/ March, phenomenal!

Beautiful park. Drove there to go hike the palm canyon trail, and I can say that the drive itself is worth it even if I had not done the hike. After the sun set, I was able to see the stars very clearly. It was a breathtaking moment as you cannot see a starry sky like this in most cities. This park forever holds a spot in my heart for the experience it gave me and the stars it showed me.
The Petco Park stadium is in San Diego and is home to the San Diego Padres. It's a beautiful modern stadium that's popular for sports and concerts throughout the year.
Great ballpark, one of our favorites now. We sat in section 108, row 13. Great seats behind the visitors dugout. Food was nearby just up the stairs, could see everything and had multiple chances of getting balls every inning as the visiting team came into the dugout. Highly recommend this ballpark if you are thinking of visiting like we did from Texas. Temperatures were amazing too!

Nice ballpark enjoyed the beautiful scenery and sight lines! Found the staff to be somewhat rude though. Good game to watch from multiple angles of the ballpark. Food and Beer is way overpriced even for Southern California. All in all a pretty good time!

Came for a Saturday game with friends, and sat in section 311. We had good people all around, making it more fun. The view is good, and having the big screen on the opposite side helped. The bathrooms were clean. There are multiple concessions for food and drinks. Food was good for stadium food. I would definitely come back for more games.

I love this ballpark! It has changed over the past 2 decades, but they still use it every year for all their baseball events. This site works quite well for home games. Unfortunately, they have to rely on the other teams when they play on the road. This can be a real hassle if the other team is negligent and lets homeless people camp out in the visiting team's locker room. It can also be a problem if you hate dragging all your equipment to another city and have to stay in a motel on the wrong side of town. Danger lurks, you can be sure of that.

Seats are great for viewing the game even in the upper deck. Skyline on the water is breathtaking. Checked this ballpark off the list of ballparks to visit. Four of us had bacon wrapped hotdogs and a soda for about one hundred dollars. Seems pricey, but they were good and satisfying. Don’t think I would come back to this ballpark, but mostly because of our experience with the other people attending the venue standing in food lines “Bertha better than you”

What a beautiful ballpark. First of al it’s San Diego, so great weather. Lots of restaurants and drinks. Super clean facilities and the park on whole was well kept. This place is awesome. The most beautiful baseball park I have ever been to! The feeling was electric and the fans were kind. They have so many fun restaurants and vendors with lots of good food. (I highly recommend the smoked brisket sandwich at Grand Ole Barbecue) It is a magnificent place and it doesn’t matter where you sit the game is almost guaranteed to be exciting and fun! If you are ever in town and want to see San Diego’s (in my opinion) best attraction stop by for a game if you come during the season or even just to see the field and the view of downtown and the water!

Petco Park is a fantastic stadium in beautiful San Diego! I've had the pleasure of attending a few games here, and it's always a great experience. The atmosphere is electric, the staff is friendly, and the stadium itself is well-maintained.
One thing that stands out is the variety of food and drink options. You can find everything from classic ballpark hot dogs to more gourmet choices.
The only minor downside might be the parking situation, but that's common for many city stadiums. Overall, a great place to catch a game and enjoy the San Diego vibes. 🌞🌴🌭⚾

Got to dine on the rooftop of the Western Metal building with a private group, had the usual baseball fare of hot dogs, sloppy joes, nachos, peanuts and popcorn. But there are so many great food options throughout the park that you've gotta try. It's a very nice stadium near Little Italy, and numerous restaurants. With going early or staying late to explore around the stadium.

Great park, truly. But you need to regulate people better. Allowing visitors to walk in front of other spectators while active play is happening is AWFUL. I've been to college games where this is better. Parks where maybe 1000 people show, and it's more respectful. Hire some folks! Also, the lines for food are outrageous, you cannot bring in anything due to bag restrictions, and finding a clean place to pee is impossible. Do better!

Only four stars just based on the price of stuff here. Yeah tickets are affordable but for a hot dog and a 16oz beer you're gonna pay $30. Guess that's the price of the west coast though. Sucks having to make a decision between merchandise or food, still fun nonetheless.

Petco Park was a wonderful place to experience as a visiting fan! Beautifully designed with wonderful premium seating if you want to splurge. Top notch food and drink options galore and very friendly staff no matter what team merchandise you are wearing! The one big negative was signage - it was an incredibly confusing ballpark if you aren’t a regular and it seemed like there were too many opportunities to go the wrong way while trying to find something. If you are going to an afternoon game, make sure you look at maps of what seats are in the shade that you can find online. Can’t wait to return someday!

Awesome experience. We visited San Diego, CA last weekend and had to catch a game at Petco Park and it was worth it. We sat in section 300 row 19 and the seats had an amazing centered view. The backdrop of the city skyline is great. We circled around the area for almost an hour trying to find cheap parking and eventually got a street spot for $1.25/hour which was great considering all the garages charge $55..

One of my favorite ball parks. The atmosphere is very welcome. A place to watch the game with friends and family or just enjoy a relaxing time for a gathering. Best time during the Padres season. Attended a couple games in August and the place is amazing. Such a fun atmosphere. The team wasn’t great, and they were out of the playoff race, but they still sold the place out. Our first time at Petco Park for the Billy Joel and Sting concert was truly unforgettable. Despite the rain, the venue's impressive design made for an amazing experience. Let me just say this is a great ballpark! Rudy was our ambassador for the tour, and he did an outstanding job and was very knowledgeable about the park and baseball in general. He is a true baseball fan! There were a few places that were of limits that previously weren't, but that didn't bother me as we got to see plenty. There was a ton of constructing and preparations going on for opening day, but we were able to see everything. I would highly recommend doing a tour of this beautiful park, and if you're lucky, you'll get Rudy!

I really loved Balboa Park while I was here last time. It’s even better with the perfect San Diego weather. It has everything that you would want. It has museums, San Diego Zoo, gardens, theaters, food, etc. it’s also a National historic landmark. I would have to return since I didn’t check out too many of the museums, only a couple. There is no shortage of parking spaces, very easy to find one then walk around. Just a note, we came on a week day and it wasn’t very busy at all. The architecture was mesmerizing and intriguing.

If you are visiting San Diego this place is a must see. Bring your walking shoes and get ready to walk through the many Museums, theaters, shops, and wonderful views this place has to offer. It was nothing of what I expected, the Balboa park connects several Cathedral style venues on this wonderful walkways that include the San Diego Zoo, the Natural History Museum and several other museums. We didn't even have time to see everything. There is a tram that takes you to all the parking lots. I went there on a Tuesday and it was very crowded, so weekends must get really packed. I highly recommend this place if you have a day to kill and spend some quality time with the family or significant other. Although I saw many snack vendors, I didn't see many good restaurants so I would recommend bringing some sandwiches or whatever you can bring to eat. There are many areas to sit under the shade and relax on the grass or a bench. We went inside the natural history Museum and paid the admission but was a little disappointed with it. It probably took us around 20 minutes to see the entire Museum, compared to the natural Museum in L.A., this place was very small and was in need of more exhibits. Other than that, I gave Balboa Park an A+ because it really impressed me.

I've lived in San Diego for a decade now. I'm not a huge beach guy... Too crowded... Too many sharks... Too much sand. But Balboa Park is damn impressive! They have acres upon acres of green space with winding paths, gardens, bridges, and water features. They have world class museums with amazing architecture. They have a world class zoo and probably one of the only outdoor urban archery ranges?! Unfortunately they have a non-migratory transient population, but that's pretty much all of San Diego. And the place is big enough to share anyway. I feel like Balboa Park is always the perfect temperature too; Close enough to the ocean to have a cool breeze with tall eucalyptus trees providing relief from the sun. If you're coming to San Diego for the weekend, don't miss out on Balboa Park.

Certainly one of the nicest spots in San Diego! Hosting the historical buildings of the universal exhibit, it can be easily visited on foot. Different museums can be found on the way. The park is huge, and it needs a full day at least for a proper visit.

Visited the museums and the Japanese tea garden. The Japanese tea garden and museum were like a breath of fresh air for my soul. The zen vibes of the garden made sipping tea feel like a peaceful ritual. Exploring the museum was utter aww, discovering the beauty of creative artists. It was a day well spent, soaking in nature and history, and I left with a heart full of good vibes.

The greatest location in all San Diego, adorable and really friendly location. Majestic choices of multiple museums. I wish I had the opportunity to visit all of them. But just walking by the all parc is an impressive experience where is great to go around and enjoy the street art. The grass is so beautiful. There is a lot to do around there, like enjoying the street art artist or enjoying a seating in the parcels with a lot of friends. Strongly recommend anyone who’s travelling around San Diego. I’d like to mention and Thanks a lot the nice ladies from the visitor information center, they were really nice, welcoming and helpful. I’m grateful for their information. I’ll wait for you in Vancouver ;) thanks

Beautiful place to visit with the family. Very serene. We stopped by after a visit to the museum. Parking took about 20 mins to find however it was well worth it. Great place to visit when you’re in the San Diego area.

Gorgeous architecture and gardens! Well worth the visit, even if you don't go inside the museums. There's such beauty everywhere, food and gift/trinket vendors, a couple restaurants, and talented music performers placed thoughtfully throughout (electric violin, acoustic guitar, flute etc). Start at the information desk to get a map. If you do want to go inside the museums, they have a rotating daily schedule that lists what buildings are open that day, which is usually a handful. Wear good walking shoes and get there early as the afternoon is very busy.

Balboa Park is a cultural oasis in the heart of San Diego, where you can explore, play, learn and discover. Whether you are looking for art, history, nature, or entertainment, Balboa Park has something for everyone.
You can visit one of the 17 major museums, ranging from fine arts to natural history, from science to photography. You can enjoy a show at one of the several theaters, including the historic Old Globe. You can marvel at the beauty of the 18 free public gardens, featuring roses, cacti, orchids and more. You can also meet the animals at the world-famous San Diego Zoo, home to over 3,700 rare and endangered species.
Balboa Park is not only a place to see, but also a place to do. You can join a guided tour, take a class, watch a demonstration, or participate in a festival. You can also rent a bike, play golf, have a picnic, or ride the carousel. There is always something new and exciting happening at Balboa Park.
Balboa Park is a national treasure that has been delighting visitors for over a century. It is one of the largest urban parks in the country, covering 1,200 acres of landAd1. It is also one of the most diverse and inclusive parks in the world, celebrating the cultures and communities of San Diego2.
If you are looking for a fun, educational and inspiring experience in San Diego, look no further than Balboa Park. It is truly a place where you can find your park3.

Nice park with 2 expos that held here. As a results, the historical building and museum along with impressive garden are spread around. Music performance, park, restaurants, it’s a place to chill and spend lovely time with friends. It’s larger than I expected. Love this place.

Beautiful building structures and a bunch of Museums to visit. If you do a simple search, you can see some have free days. It’s a beautiful walk at night as some of the building have a light shining at them.
I did attempt to go to the haunted trail, so it isn’t there quite yet, maybe in October.
This park is one of the must visit spots, doesn’t cost a dime. I highly recommend it for tourist or family visiting in a weekend.

Probably in spring or summer a better time for a visit. January rather not. However, nice buildings and villages (Spanish village).
Having a complete day the forest paths would be interesting.

New York has Central Park and San Diego has Balboa Park which is hands down much larger. But, stats include a few museums and the famed San Diego Zoo; which more than likely have additional fees.
Either way... If you are in the area spend a day or two exploring the park and all it offers. It was very nice and peaceful.

Enormous park packed with play areas, picnic areas, gardens, dog walking facilities and an array of museums.
There really is something for everyone here; you can either choose to spend a fortune on entrance tickets or nothing at all and still enjoy the park.

Excellent experiences in this amazing San Diego park. There are numerous museums with fees, there's the outdoor Organ Pavillon with numerous free concerts, check out the free international cottages filled with cultural information.
Huge park, lots of walking, hidden trails and amazing trees, flora and flowers and fountains.
Eating is spotty, a couple of expensive restaurants, take your picnic lunch as there are numerous locations for relaxing in the shade.

I cannot believe I haven’t been to this place. I lived in San Diego for a few years and I visit here every year. This was my first time to Balboa Park. The architecture was stunning. The grounds were gorgeous. We didn’t have to pay to park, and we walked around and saw all the amazing buildings and artwork. The small museum was free to enter. There even was a St. Patrick’s Day parade going on. my daughter wanted to go into the cannibal exhibit. There were so many different museums that you could’ve entered. They all charged though. There was public bathrooms. The tall clock tower at noon was the best part. Hearing the chimes was great, but the music that it played at noon was so fun.

This is a great place for so many things to do and see. I went for one museum and ended up walking the entire complex and checking out the sites. Found places to eat and many places to visit. Absolutely beautiful place but if you want to see it all bring your wallet because most require some $$ to get it. I did not want to spend a lot so I ended up just walking the grounds and seeing all the beautiful architecture and landscaping. Would recommend even if it is to just walk around and view the sights

Super beautiful park!!! I was so shocked with how many attractions and things to do. Manyyy many museums and little shops and eateries. Definitely can be entertained for hours here. From working out, jogging, sight seeing, shopping, etc. 10/10 recommend.
The Botanical Building is a greenhouse, originally from the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition and now open to the public. It is made entirely of wood lath, with collections of plants housed within its gardens. Special features include an orchid garden and a kids' area with carnivorous plants and aromatic plants.
We have visited the Botanical Building at Balboa Park many, many times, bringing friends and family who are visiting. It's the iconic building in the back of most photos taken at Balboa Park, set back behind the Koi Pond.
It's now being renovated, and they tell us it will reopen during the summer of 2023. Why they couldn't have conducted these renovations during the two years of Covid quarantine is beyond me. (eyeroll)
Now you will just have to enjoy these gorgeous photos taken inside the arboretum and whet your appetite for its reopening next year.

I felt that it was enchanting. The building itself is amazing. Adding all of the plants was memorizing. I hoped to see more flowers saw one flower. Loved the entry arcs. There was also a man outside playing the guitar very beautiful music which added that obviance. Plus best part is that it was free free and free. If your in the area definite must. Let's you escape just a little.

Was able to visit before they closed down for 18 months. I had to ask a visitor guide and they mentioned that Wednesday December 29th was the last day it would be open before it shut down for 18 months for renovation of the building. It was by far the most wonderful and exhilarating experience I've had. My future boyfriend must propose to me here lol. Can't wait to visit in a year to experience it all over again

We had a very nice walk around conservatory. Different from many others, this botanical garden is covered with wood plaques that allow the wind to breeze inside. Overall is a place that is worth a visit if you are around. Very lively on Sunday mornings.

This is a must visit. It is small and not many blooms and that is why only given 4 stars but it is more like 4 1/2. One should visit at other times of the year to get a well rounded experience as plants would be blooming. But since it is small it can be done on several visits. Nice and relaxing. Many hidden treasures if you look.

I love botanical gardens, and this one is no exception! The space here is relatively small, but it's packed with plants and there is so much to see! Beautiful building, too! If my group hadn't been waiting for us outside, I probably could have stayed here for at least two hours!

There were so many orchids and flowering plants aside from the supersized ferns and others plants I can't identify 😄🤣. But I love the inside. The building itself is so pretty (for me). The lotus pond on the outside is gorgeous!

A great place to see, it's in the center of the Balboa Park. Amazing flowers and plants inside, in front of the building there is a nice pond, with some nice fish.
It's free, one more reason to worth the visit, we really enjoyed. Very well done San Diego!

Great building with a nice collection. It is a more tropical conservatory designed as a shade house instead of a glass house. Admitedly, it's in the middle of Balboa Park and San Diego where everywhere is a great garden, so it doesn't stand out against it's context as much as it would in other parts of the country. It's free though, so check it out!

The Zoo in San Diego, California is home to animals representing more than 400 species from around the world. The zoo was founded in 1852 and features a conservation society that works to protect endangered animals.
We loved visiting the San Diego zoo. It's world famous for a reason. We also learned that it's not only a zoo but also a botanical garden. It is stunning to walk around. There is so much nature and beauty aside from the animals.
They grow so many different plants and trees there.
The bus tours are well worth it to check out the outside of the entire zoo and see animals along the way. Plan to be here for at least 3 hours if not more. Also the zoo allows you to bring food and snacks so you don't have to worry. They're so baby friendly which was great. There's a whole baby station where you can wash your baby bottles if you plan to be there long and need to feed the baby with a clean bottle. I loved it.

This is the best zoo I’ve ever been to. All the animals are very active and fun to watch. They have a large variety of animals so there’s something for everyone.
The transportation included in the ticket is amazing. The 30 minute free bus tour gave us a great overview of the zoo and let us see a lot of animals. The guide was very sweet and very knowledgeable. The kangaroo buses made it very convenient to get from exhibit to exhibit.
The zoo is very large and it took us a whole day to see everything.

There was so much to see here. We spent about 6 hours and didn't see all the animals. All the exhibits were entertaining. The free gondola ride across the zoo was great. Free parking. Reasonably priced food, drink, stroller rentals and souvenirs. Would definitely go back to see what we didn't get to see this time.

We had a great day at the zoo! Parking is close and free, which is amazing! We took the zoo bus tour first thing, which gave us a good overview of the park and helped us figure out what we wanted to see. We loved all the methods of transportation through the park because it is so big. There is a kangaroo bus to 4 different areas. We didn't use this because we decided to just walk it so we wouldn't miss exhibits. But we did the aerial tram from one side to the other and back. We also used the elevator by the bridge two times to help with the hills. We happened upon an animal encounter by zoo workers with an aardvark. So fun! The animal enclosures are so beautiful, as is the park foliage. We ended up staying until 7:30 pm, much longer than we expected. There is so much to see!

I recently visited the San Diego Zoo and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was amazed by the vast array of animals and the beautiful environment they were in.
One thing that stood out to me was the care and attention given to the animals. It was evident that the zookeepers genuinely cared for each animal and provided them with a comfortable and stimulating environment. The animals seemed happy and well taken care of, which is a testament to the zoo's dedication to conservation and animal welfare.
The variety of animals at the San Diego Zoo is truly impressive. From elephants to meerkats to polar bears, there was something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the different exhibits and habitats that allowed me to see the animals up close and learn about their natural behaviors.
The zoo also offers numerous educational opportunities. From interactive exhibits to informative signs, I was able to learn so much about each animal's habitat, diet, and conservation status. It was both fun and educational, making it a perfect destination for families and animal enthusiasts alike.
The San Diego Zoo is also beautifully designed and well maintained. The pathways were easy to navigate, and the landscaping was lush and vibrant. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort goes into creating a welcoming and visually appealing space for visitors.
Overall, my experience at the San Diego Zoo was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of stunning animals, high-quality care, educational experiences, and beautiful surroundings make it a must-visit destination. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable day out.

The San Diego Zoo is hands down a five-star adventure waiting to happen. I mean, where else can you go from hanging out with pandas to checking out flamingos and then chilling with koalas, all in one place? It's like a global safari without the jet lag!
But here's the thing that makes it truly special: not only is it a blast, but it's also a powerhouse for conservation and research. These folks are like the superheroes of the animal world, working behind the scenes to save endangered species and educate the world on the importance of wildlife preservation.
And the setup? It's like Mother Nature herself decided to design a zoo. The exhibits are beautifully crafted to mimic natural habitats, which means you get up close and personal with animals in environments that feel just right.
So, whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a family with kiddos who adore animals, or just someone looking for a wildly fun day out, the San Diego Zoo has got you covered. It's not just a zoo; it's a wild journey that leaves you with a smile and a heart full of love for our furry, feathered, and scaly friends. Five stars for this fantastic place where adventure meets education!

One of the best zoos ever. I went on a Sunday at around 12:00 noon. Great parking, not too crowded, and great weather, what else can you ask for.
Hop on the 30 minute tour bus, the guy gives you a lot of input about the zoo and its animals and it helped me plan for my day. They have what they call Kangaroo buses with four stops. You can get on and off at whatever stop, very convenient to get to the areas you want to get to. On this day, the animals were very active, it made my day even more eventful. I paid for the Polar Express experience, found in the same area as a polar bears, it was worth it. I also saw a lot of children walking around with their face painted, but I didn't see any adults doing it. My thought, why not. I got my face painted, it took all but maybe 5 minutes, and I loved it!
I drove from the San Fernando Valley to San Diego, two and a half to three hour drive.
If you're in California, and within driving distance, the San Diego Zoo is worth the drive.

The Zoo exceeded our expectations. We stayed all day and have never watched so much activity by the animals at a zoo before . The trails and facilities were clean and well kept which makes for a nice experience as well. We took the free bus tour to start our day which gave us a good overview of the park. After walking to every exhibit throughout the day we ended with a trip up and back on the Sky tram. Overall, a great experience!

The San Diego Zoo was amazing! The volunteers were helpful with directions and giving info about the Zoo residents. You definitely need an entire day to see everything. My wife and I probably experienced 90% of it. Definitely take the tour bus, so you can have an overview of the park animals, then go see your favorites. The sky lift was an awesome experience itself.

Let’s be real- this zoo is just unbeatable. It is a magical experience just to walk through it , let alone to witness the stunning variety of animals and plants. Hands down it is a must-see of San Diego. Definitely download the app and try to do the bus tour early morning or in the evening as I think the animals are more lively. There is always a chance that you won’t get to see some of the animals but you won’t be disappointed with the monkeys, koalas, and the many stunning aviaries. The history of the zoo and its many many animals is also captivating and a gift that keeps giving after you leave. It is definitely doable in one day but another day may have alleviated some of the angst of seeing or not-seeing some of the animals.

I herd that this zoo is world wild famous. But I was not impressed at all. It is a big place to spend a day. There is many animals to see. Cable cars that takes you to other side of zoo. And two bus lines. One is with four stops around the zoo. And other one is like a tour bus that talk in detail about zoo. Part I didn’t like is they just returned Pandas to China. And I really wanted to see panda in person. Other one is that I could not see most of animals in park. Cause their sports are so big and majority of animals been hiding in their homes. I will try Safari park next time.

We did a full day with all tickets purchased online in advance. Early admission through the baby boom package, zoo pass and then dinner and aurora. The entire experience was first class. Having attractions like the kids park, gondola and bus tour as part of the ticket are very nice. Lines always moved very quickly and we're well organized. The zoo is as much a meticulous garden. The grounds are amazing. Staff were extremely engaged and attentive. Early morning pass was exceptional opportunity to be in the zoo before it got busy. Only issue was the amount of times we had to double back. The app and map are not always clear and it is easy to miss a turn and head in the wrong direction. Dinner at Albert's was very good. Plan for the whole day and enjoy.

I enjoyed my trip to the San Diego Zoo. I would recommend getting the tickets online to save a few extra dollars. It is $70-$72 to get in to the zoo, which may seem like a lot but at least they offer free parking. The zoo itself is massive. The bus tour and tram ride is included with the price of the ticket was nice and was a great way to explore the park. I would recommend renting a scooter for $60 dollars to fully get the most out of the park if you aren’t able to walk. I walked 6 miles and still did not see the entire zoo. I would also like to recommend the zoo creating an app for the public to guide us better.

Easily the best zoo I’ve ever been to. There are so many animals and you need a whole day to see everything. While my daughters were on spring break I decided to go to the San Diego zoo during the week so it would be less visitors and ample parking. I bought our tickets online so when we got there all I had to do was show the tickets on my phone they scanned it and that was it off we went to our journey of seeing all the beautiful animals. Let me just say it was a good decision.
There was ample parking. It wasn't crowded there was a nice crowd but it wasn't so crowded that you couldn't see the animals that you wanted to see.
We had such a great day at the San Diego zoo. I must say I was a little bit disappointed only because some of the habitats that we went to visit were empty and we wanted to see the animals but overall we had a great day we saw some beautiful animals and we were very happy. I hope when we go back that we will see more of the habitats filled with animals. It was beautiful though and very enjoyable. We also got some great pictures at least for my phone😂 Oh! I almost forgot and they serve drinks🍹now I was happy again. I haven't been to the zoo in a long time but I was very pleased to have a margarita while I walk through the zoo. 😄 You must go and have fun with the kiddos!

This place is great! Plenty of benches and shady spots along the trails. I spoonful advise you bring a water bottle which they will refill with water or buying a free refill soda. Plenty of animals to see. Plenty of things s for kids to interact with. There's a reason this is considered one of the best zoos in the world. Definitely a must visit if visiting San Diego. If local buy the champion membership. Skipping lines, separate entrance, and includes wild animal park as well. Good for 2 people and you get two free passes. So if 4 purple going. It basically pays for itself on first visit. Click"helpful" if you found this helpful please

We loved our trip to the zoo and would heartily recommend it to anyone. In fact, we have to put it as the number 1 attraction in San Diego. It really is something not to miss when you are in the city. We took the guided bus tour first and it was a good way to see the whole area before the walk around the zoo. There are restaurants in the zoo and the food was great. Would recommend wearing comfortable shoes since it's a big area you'll be walking. Take a stroller if you go with children or you can rent one in the park which costs you $16.

The zoo was such fun! It was clean and well-maintained. The restrooms were clean and the staff were friendly and nice. There were plenty of places to sit and get out of the sun. The animals' cages were well kept, and there was a good variety. We rode the tour bus and took the sky tram with ease, and had a blast. On a Friday morning/afternoon, it wasn't too crowded, although we had to wait about 45 minutes to pickup our tickets, so it may help to add some kiosks to aide with this in the future.

Being the most pricey zoo I’ve ever seen before, it’s totally worth it. This place doesn’t just take great care of their animals but they really care about the cause of protecting them. The tours you can go on at the zoo are fantastic, the place is so big you could spend all day there being entertained and you would still have more to see! While the price of a bottle water is $6.50, at least it’s going to a good cause. The Zoo is incredible and really lives up to the hype it has.

Great place for groups, families, and/or couples to stroll the paths and view the animals. Feeding time is the best time to go. Mid-day is probably the least favorable time to see the animals out and about in their areas.
Parking is free. If you go mid-day or later might as well start looking for a spot in the closest isles and work your way farther away.
Their are food choices but not as many as the wild animal park.
Hard to believe there is a zoo in the center of a city but when your in there you forget.

The San Diego Zoo is definitely one of if not the best zoos in the country. There are so many animals and so much to see and do. The exhibits are nice and the whole zoo is really well put together and maintained. It’s slightly expensive but worth the price. We had a variety of ages in our group and everyone had a great time. We got there just before it opened and had no problem with parking.

We had a great time at the zoo. The first thing we did was the bus tour and I'm glad we did it right away because it got very busy later in the day. It was also great to give us an idea of the zoo layout and see the animals from a different side in some cases.

You have to love the zoo! The koalas, the big cats, the aardvark, the elephants, the baby bears, penquins, rare birds, plant life and so much more!
It was a beautiful day in San Diego and the zoo is a must see. We took advantage of items included with your admission such as the mini bus tour, the kangaroo bus transportation and the sky tram, but mostly it's great to walk around and observe the amazing wildlife. I was impressed by the efforts of the zoo to provide what appears to be suitable habitats and the proper environment for these wonderful creatures. Take in all you can as there is so much to see and much to learn. There were a few areas under construction, but hardly noticeable as you take in the vast area of the park. We have heard the safari is a great option and plan to check it out on a future visit. For our initial visit we wanted to walk throughout the zoo at our own pace. The walking is up and down hill, while our biggest challenge, to be honest. was dodging the hundreds of strollers. While also fun to watch the excitement of kids seeing some of these animals for the first time.
The shops, restrooms and food/drink stands with tables and seating placed throughout the park, provide opportunities to take breaks during your stay. Pace yourself and allow most of the day to experience as much as you can. Have fun and support the San Diego zoo!

The Zoo is one of our favorite places to explore as a family. We have a membership and visit often. There are always new things to see, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. I feel that they do a wonderful job of caring for the animals here, and their conservation efforts globally are impressive. We feel good about supporting them. 💚 The children's Basecamp area is so much fun, even as a stand-alone activity. My girls love the water area, climbing structures, tree house, and monkey bridge. They could easily spend hours in this area. This area of the zoo also hosts the cleanest restrooms, in our experience. I usually pack swimsuits & towels for my girls to change into, as I know we will undoubtedly end up in this area and get soaked. Not a problem when it's hot though, the water is a welcome cool down. The new exhibits in this area are very cool as well. We always have a great time at the zoo.

The variety of displays were amazing. Love all the different areas. Our favorite for sure was the gorillas 🦍 but they are all awesome.
The scale of the zoo is awesome, super easy to navigate but you are walking through such great greenery the entire day would be a nice walk even without the animals. Really enjoyed all the unique plants and trees as well.
The staff is super helpful and very informative as well. Loved that.

hands down the largest zoo I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to many of them). clean zoo & lots to do and a plethora of exhibits to see — I recommend spending the whole day here when you buy tickets, which I suggest you do in advance (and check for value days!). many food and drink stands and options available. knowledgeable and kind staff members and volunteers throughout the zoo. you can hop on the kangaroo bus for a tour or ride the sky-ride gondolas to view the zoo from above. my friend and I were visiting from out of town and had a blast!

This was amazing space. The exhibits are so well designed that even though it was busy, it was still possible to have special animal encounters around each bend.
We have a medical service animal, named Penny, who loved it. The animals were pretty curious about her, too. The Harpy Eagles were especially intrigued by our furry companion.
There were just so many great spaces to experience nature together with people.

What a fantastic zoo! I can see why it's rated the highest in the country!
We knew when we booked this trip that a visit to the famous San Diego Zoo was going to be a necessity. The value day pass is a fantastic deal if you're going to visit on a value day. The zoo at times can feel a little bit like a maze, but it's worth going down every path and seeing every exhibit and animal.
The zoo is very well maintained and there are volunteers all over to help guide you and provide insight and/or answers to any questions you may have. And the scenery is gorgeous!
There are also extras included, even with the value passes, like the guided bus tour and the kangaroo bus (hop-on hop-off). Make sure even if you see the whole zoo on foot that you take the guided tour, you get some great perspective and different views!

It's literally the best zoo we have ever visited. If you have a toddler, make sure you take your stroller. There are a few hills inside that will tire them out. There are plenty of restrooms and quick food spots. Seems the staff takes care of the animals sanctuaries quite well. The only con is parking. Make sure you arrive earlier than planned to get a good spot. You can also park on the street by the school next to the dirt road. No fee. You can then walk for about 5 min until you reach the zoo entrance. There is no VIP parking. Purchase your tickets in advance to avoid wait time. If you are going during January, you may need a jacket in case it gets cold at night. One more thing, download the app. It was extremely helpful for inside the zoo navigation and for other information regarding zoo time shows and attractions.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve visited the San Diego Zoo but I was truly happy we did. It’s just as big and beautiful as I remember. I LOVE all the animals, especially the koalas, elephants, giraffes, and the aviary that has not only birds, but working ants. That truly was awesome. A must see for everyone. And please know that the bus ride throughout the zoo is free which we were thrilled about!
Arlene Aninion — Google review
My feet are screaming as I write this. lol. I would consider this zoo an all day affair. There’s a lot of walking to do and some hills you’ll be going up and down. It seems like they fill up reuse able bottles with water for you and they have one you can buy for 14.99 for the day and get any fountain drink with free refills. Water is very important while walking around. Your favourite animal is probably here so bring your back up batteries for videos and photos! The zoo is super clean and the staff loves talking about the animals. The sky ride was a crazy view but if you don’t like heights then avoid. I was white knuckled holding the bar.
If you have kids a 2-day pass isn’t a bad option as they might not be able to handle all the activities they have for kids AND walk an entire zoo.

Absolutely a great zoo. There are lots of amazing animals to see, lots of fun activities to do and plenty of good places to eat. My family and I have been to most of the top zoo's in the country and really like the San Diego Zoo. The price per person is very fair. I would highly recommend this zoo.

Beautiful facility with a lot to see. Tickets are $74/adult, but a lot comes with that. They provide a 35 minute double deck bus tour as well as a "kangaroo bus" to help you jump to different areas of this HUGE zoo. We took the Skyfari Aerial Tram up to the top - free of charge - and I definitely suggest using it to get to the top and walk down the zoo because some of the walkways are extremely steep. A wide variety of animals, plants, and shopping areas. There is also an opportunity to feed a giraffe a biscuit for $7!
Museum focused on 20th-century conflicts, on the training site founded by the namesake general.
This was a great spot to stretch your legs and learn about some of the military training for WW2. Around the backside of the building there's more tanks to look at. There's a huge memorial wall outside, the American flags are kinda low so watch yourself cause one smacked me in the face 😂 if your just walking around the area give yourself a good 15 or 20 mins. Going inside you need more time

This was a fun little diversion. I have travelled the I10 many times and this was a welcomed stop. We found a geocache on the opposite side of the road where the original desert camps were located. The museum was packed with plenty memorabilia of the General along with all kinds of military surplus from his time and current. Thanks for the great museum. Stop in to see all General Patton did to help secure our freedom.

This place will humble you very quickly. I highly recommend you give yourself plenty of time to be able to enjoy your experience. What Patton did to these young men was pure hell. He did it so they would win and come home.

This is a very good museum about military history with many displays. Lots of military vehicles from various era's. Lots of info on Patton and the base that was at this location and stretching miles...miles north and east. It is well worth the price of admission. So much to see and learn.
I would stop again if in the area. I would recommend this for all ages.
I remember learning about Patton and Rommel in school. Some history I bet you never knew.

Real cool facility exploring military hardware and people. However you need to have a liking for big guns, etc. Bonus is the free campsite they have outback. Spotted half a dozen campers ready to spend the 🌙

Found this place by accident. The rest area was closed. This was the next exit off the 10 . It's really cool from the outside. Did not have the money to go in.

An amazing museum honoring the service of General Patton. Tanks from the 60s, cavalry saber that he redesigned per commission from the Army due to his swordsman experience. So many interesting fa to, especially his death. Google it.

Very interesting little museum. My family and I had a great time learning about all the war memorabilia. A lot of cool items on display. If you're ever in that area, I suggest visiting 😊
Ticket prices: active duty military: free, adult $15, veterans $13, & kid $7.

This was an amazing place and so clean and a pleasure to see. The theater room was great. The tank yard was the most realistic thing ever. Dad really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately we were to late to see the entire museum but we were able to shop the gift store and grab some photos. The gift store is small and could be a bit better stocked. But for a desert museum commemorating a long passed (although great) army General it does a pretty good job.

Great little museum dedicated to General Patton and the Desert Training Center located nearby. Its a quick 50-60 minute drive from Palm Springs. Lots of WWII, Korea and Vietnam era military paraphernalia and a lot of information on Patton's life and accomplishments. A handful of old tanks to walk around and one that is deconstructed that you can crawl around in. I visited with my father who broke his foot the previous day and they have a wheelchair available for free to use. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

I bet if this museum was located in a more populated area, this would get a lot more visitors as it is quite impressive with all the military hardware and historical artifacts pertaining to war in the 20th century. (Full disclosure: this comment is coming from someone who is a citizen of a country that is quite non-militaristic and does not have as much of a history of military conflict as the US.) That said, the fact that it is in such a remote location adds to it's allure. I wish I had more time than I had to fully appreciate this museum... it really is quite fantastic.

This place is great. The history is fascinating & the tanks are a-freaking-mazing. The memorial wall is beautiful. Perfect for pictures every is the museum isn't open. It is perfectly located....a minutes walk from the cafe' & gas station. Dry camping is available also. Not thru the museum,I would imagine you could ask about it at the cafe'l.

15$ entry fee . Totally worth it in my opinion. WW2 and history enthusiasts this is for you! , great stop on the I-10. Has all the history of how WW2 started all the way to how it ended. Patton was such a legend and he deserves to get this credit . Lots of memorabilia. The tank museum is awesome , they have an array of tanks ranging from an old M3 Stuart, m5 Sherman, m26 Pershing also lots of M60 patrons and various old military trucks. Place is definently worth the stop if you are going along the I-10.
Barona Resort & Casino is a great place to stay if you're looking for an adventure outside of San Diego. The resort is located on a large piece of land, and offers beautiful gardens and rolling hills as well as lakes and pools. There are plenty of activities available at the hotel, including golfing, tennis, horseback riding, and fishing. Guests can enjoy fine dining in the restaurants or relax in one of the luxurious spa treatments.
They went all out to create a beautiful hotel and casino that would not only satisfy locals but those with above average taste. The design of the buildings are very elegant and the property layout is well planned. Service was of a very high standard. The moment you turn into the property, you are greeted by a guard waving and welcoming you, Valet is available or feel free to find your own parking spot. There are plenty of spaces due to the size of the property. A walk through the hotel on the second floor takes you to the casino entrance. Everything was very clean and the casino is non smoking. Plenty of beverage carts to serve you as well. I wasn't so lucky today so I did lose some money but I had fun trying to win.

I loved every minute of my stay.
The food is great and spectacular service.
The drive in can be a little tricky if you are unfamiliar with the roads so I would suggest you drive in during daylight your 1st trip.
Good luck and enjoy the place and people !!!!!

By far the best casino! Clean because it’s non smoking. Excellent cleaning service. Everything is always immaculate. The machines and restrooms. Service is also by far the best. You’re greeted before you walk in and after you enter. Drink service is always easy to find. They walked around with full service drink carts. You don’t have to order and wait for a drink. Although no alcohol served on the floor. Cashiers also walk around to cash tickets or get change. My favorite casino to visit.

The Casino it self has very friendly and helpful host. The place is super clean. The workers make sure of it.
When playing on the Casino floor make sure you play the slot machines as they make the most points for your Club Card. As for the Table Games.....they Don't give your Club Card every many points. Even though you spend a lot of you money or time there. So every Casino is different in there points for their Club Cards.
But the food court is Awesome 😎👍.

Rating the casino only. First of all, the casino is totally non-smoking. I love that, and give ownership kudos on willingness to do that. On top of that, it's the cleanest casino I've ever been in...casino floor, machines, restrooms, everything. Staff is very friendly. My experience, in 3 visits, is that the slots have better frequency of payouts than most casinos I've been in in other parts of the country.

Really nice casino and everyone was friendly and pleasant to speak with! Great range of games all throughout. Only downside is they still haven't reopened their bar since covid. Makes for a downer if you had a night out with friends for some drinks. Would be great location to get away from everything!

Took my son since he's now 18. He won right before we were about to leave! The staff is very friendly, it is non-smoking, and very clean. They do have designated smoking areas from what I read online. Next time we visit we're going to try the restaurant. I would highly recommend visiting. The drive was also nice on the way there.

Barona Casino & Resorts is another amazing place to visit, I live and have an hour and a half drive from the casino…love the drive there. As soon as you walk through the doors to enter the casino you get a warm welcome from team members..saying welcome home, and Barona lives up to that name. Parking is always great, with the convenience of a disability station with scooters to assist if you need some special attention. The staff at the players club desk are polite, friendly and continue to make you visit feel like home. Always had a great time at Barona especially if you play and the slots, tables and experience are very nice…winning is very good as well. If you play one thing about Barona is you never will go hungry cause of the food vouchers accepted at all food ventures, bakery and coffee shop…the coffee is the best I’ve tasted so far. If you are planning a stay, the hotel staff well get you squared away..as I mentioned already in my review the rooms are comfy, clean, secure and make you really feel like home..don’t forget to grab a cup of that good Barona coffee in the lobby. Also if you play the rewards are great at the casino. I hope this review will provide some assistance in decision making to visit Barona..you will definitely have the time of you life. I would highly recommend this casino.

I can't rate the rooms because I only went for the day to gamble. But guest services (Tom) was an amazing employee when he was signing my mother up for her players card. He's fun, nice and very informative. So many laughs while taking care of us. Made us feel very comfortable and ready to play!
I love the fact that it's a smoke-free casino and good food options in the food court. A beautiful casino floor overall.
I will be returning soon!

We always enjoy going to Barona and have been treated like family there for years. The staff is wonderful. The hotel is really nice. The food is very good, especially excellent in the steakhouse. We love the Indian frybread in the cafe! We especially appreciate that they are staying smoke free in the casino. It makes the time playing in the casino so much more pleasant. It's our "go to" place in the San Diego area.

We enjoy staying up here for a quiet night away. The duck pond is nice to sit by and it's peaceful out around the golf course at night.
If we want to enjoy some excitement, a walk over to the casino is fun. It's non smoking, exceptionally clean, and I don't think I've ever experienced a more friendly staff at a casino.
Just an overall enjoyable experience.

Besides the fact that they give the least amount of free play to regulars, or to me I should say, who is a regular, they really do have the cleanest casino of them all. Good variety of slots, and table games, I’ve won several large jackpots here, and the staff is pretty great. Also have the best food court out of all the sd. Definitely worth the drive

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the staff. I was treated like I owned the place. The room was large and comfy. Step in shower AND a tub. Housekeeping was very accommodating. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The casino was clean and had a large selection of food places. Very reasonable food prices! I was so impressed with every interaction I had with staff. They truly made me feel welcomed and that they were happy to help me with any request. A real gem!!

I don't gamble or stayed at the hotel, but I live in the area and I always enjoy driving up there. It's calming on days I just need to get out of the house. I walk around and hang at the food court. You hear the typical sounds of a casino, but it's never annoyingly loud. It has a pretty laid back atmosphere actually. I love their food court, particularly the dog stand and ice cream. Good prices for good simple food. I'd like to stay at the hotel one day which is why I only give it 4 stars. I can't say anything about the hotel 🤷♀️ they also have lots of parking there too so you'll never really have issues finding a spot.

I didn't stay in the hotel but did walk around the casino. Very clean and the staff is friendly. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Plant of areas to eat. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant and the food was amazing. They have cameras overlooking the cooks and you get to see how they prepare the food. Very nice experience overall. Not kid friendly.

Did you know Barona Casino is the only casino that is smoke-free? Not only that, their scooters are free to use. I knowwww no brainer, right? The food court is very good and has a variety of delicious food items. The one fault I have is that the better restaurants are only for the diamond and higher customers, which I find is arrogant and elitist. How much more income they could realize if it opened up to the regular customers. What a waste. Overall, it is a good place to visit and maybe win some cash. Hope to see y'all there, just don't win all the money, leave some for me. See you there 👍.

I haven’t been to this Casino In 6 or 7 years definitely before Covid. What set This casino apart from the other ones it was so kid friendly anyone under the age of 18 could stay in the hotel and walk the casino floor before 8pm now no one is allowed under the age of 18 and was so much fun packed on the Weekends and the slot were actually loose. Now my parents go maybe twice a year and always say the casino is empty and it’s a shame. Even back then you could purchase a room now the rooms in the hotel are set aside for the higher card members at least other casino sale rooms on a night basis and I rather go there instead of driving up to Barons from LA

The room was beautiful! So clean and fresh. Nice view over a small waterfall with surrounding plants. I loved it. Best thing!!! SMOKE FREE!!! The staff was very helpful, courteous and had no problem with answering questions. Quick and efficient! Location is good. Its not to far yet away from the everyday grind. My friend and I had a blast while enjoying a much needed reprieve. To say we had a lovely time was probably an understatement. Wished I'd taken pictures.

We went to the casino only. It was most orderly and clean. The bathrooms were impressively clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. A nice food offering at the food court, although most items were overpriced in my book. There was no sports book that I could find, about the only less than excellent thing I could come up with. Although it's over 20+yrs old, it has been kept up to date extremely well. There was plenty of parking too. I really liked that it was no smoking in all main areas. There IS a dedicated smoking lounge for those intent on killing themselves slowly. It was an excellent way to spend some time. Both my wife and I won at the slots, yet another plus... 👍👍👍

I’ve been coming to this place for a decade. It was my favorite place in San Diego by far. The hotel is quaint and quiet, they have plenty of the exact games I like, and their staff is very friendly. A key to me continuing to come back is this felt like the only place around with fair payouts. With gambling, losing is part of the game. On average, I used to win big one out of 3 visits. It leveled out to where I was a Platinum member, with awesome Resort benefits. About a year ago, I noticed the machines had tightened up. Hard to get bonuses with zero payouts. This has happened on the trips for the past yea now. Everyone around me was complaining about payouts today, so I know it’s not just me. Once a buzzing casino floor with cheers and laughter is now comparable to a library. It’s quite different than when I first came here. Even my host confirmed the uptick of complaints because of the low payouts.
Since the payouts have been less, I have been coming less. My status was lowered to Gold. In order to get back to my old level, I would need to gamble about $7,000 in a month. This is my last stay here for the unforeseeable future. Gambling is a risk, but at this point I don’t feel the need to just burn my money in the machines. It’s a bummer that this place has declined.

It's a very nice.. well put together establishment. The attendants are super friendly and helpful... I try to come back whenever I can. Also if you spend a little money in the casino... I would say that you are almost guaranteed to hit a jackpot of little or big proportion.... Depending on the amount you spend.
Galleta Meadows is a unique desert sculpture park located along the Southern California S-3 highway in Borrego Springs. Created by artist Ricardo Breceda, the park features over 130 massive metal sculptures known as "Sky Art." These sculptures include creatures such as elephants, raptors, dinosaurs, mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, serpents, horses, and even a sloth.
Galleta Meadows is an awesome place to visit in Borrego Springs with animal and human sculptures spread across the town and valley. There close to 100 sculptures of animals and humans and it is truly an incredible collection of art sculptures with many appearing life like. Great for photo opportunities and can easily spend a few hours to see and try to find all the sculptures, but well worth it.

Lovely little drive (came through Julian entrance). Make sure you bring extra water because it gets HOT! The statues are wonderful to look at. You can google the locations of them all beforehand and screenshot the map since service tends to get lost since this is a remote area in the desert. The dragon is by far the largest sculpture. Some of the sculptures are accessible by walking only since some of the dirt roads have been blocked off to preserve the area. Also, some of the dirt roads are very bumpy with deep holes so make sure you drive carefully or take a 4x4.

What a fun place to explore and I don't even think we saw everything. I guess there is bunch of different Metal Sculptures thru out Borrego. The dragon one is cool and the scorpion and cricket one is pretty cool. The scorpion you can actually drive up to and some other animals. The dragon..no they have it stringed off but you can walk up close to it and take pics. We drove off to another road and saw a hawk or eagle one and horses. Half a day trip then enjoy the small town they have there.
