Best stops along Guanajuato to Guadalajara drive
The top stops along the way from Guanajuato to Guadalajara (with short detours) are Hospicio Cabañas, Expiatory Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Guadalajara Cathedral. Other popular stops include Shrine of Christ the King, Zoologico Guadalajara, and Masajes 5E.
The Plaza de San Fernando is a charming square located in the heart of the city. It is known for its beautiful architecture, lively atmosphere, and historical significance. The plaza is surrounded by elegant buildings and is a popular gathering spot for both locals and tourists. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls, people-watching, or simply soaking in the vibrant energy of the area. With its picturesque surroundings and cultural importance, Plaza de San Fernando offers a delightful experience for anyone exploring the city.
The Shrine of Christ the King offers breathtaking panoramic views from atop a hill, where visitors can find a 65-ft. bronze statue of Jesus and an art deco sanctuary. However, those planning to drive to the location are advised to check their car coolant and tire air pressure beforehand as the 20-30 minute uphill road is rough and has caused cars to overheat in the past. Bicycling up the hill is also challenging due to the uneven surface.
Before coming to this place by car, make sure to check car coolant and air pressure on the tire. The road is 20-30 minutes uphill and road is bumpy as hell. I saw two cars overheating and there is no auto shop of any kind around. There is parking space on top but you may need to wait until space is open during holidays. Saw some people riding bicycle up the hill and that is both difficult going up and down as road surface is rough. Once you are on the top, 360 Deg. view of all surround area is possible, what a magnificent view from the top. It is worth going up no matter what method you take. Saw many number plates from very far places.

Very beautiful views worth getting up there. Limited things to do but it’s a great place to pray/read and eat around the small restaurants on the hill. If you get altitude sickness or are afraid of heights... maybe this isn’t for you 😂

Very nice place to visit. It's been around for over 100 years. Still being used to have mass.

Heart touching shrine to Our Lord and Savior. Devotion and love of visiting pilgrims is amazing and feels one’s soul with hope peace and love.

Such a beautiful place to come and see. All the surrounding around the Shrine are breath taking. Its located on the very top of a mountain as seen in the people below. Come pray, read, little shop for your religious needs and memories for your visit. A lot of people have devotional faith and come to pray and or give thanks. Took drone video and photos. Didn't try the small restaurants for the yummy food that smelled delicious but It's a must see. Very safe atmosphere.

Can’t miss going to this place when your in Guanajuato. You will have great views of the city.
Lourdes Aguilar — Google review
Nice place But it was to cold in winter. I liked this mountain.
Jose Garcia — Google review
Located atop a hill, this place boasts breathtaking panoramic views of Silao and Guanajuato. You can easily drive to the top of the mountain, and on your way up, you'll come across several refreshment stalls selling mouth-watering quesadillas, tortillas with baked potato, and other delicious snacks. The food is cooked over coal or wood, which gives it a rustic, smoky flavor that's sure to tantalize your taste buds.
The main attraction of this place is the impressive statue, which is grand and visually stunning. The size and grandeur of the statue are awe-inspiring, and it's definitely worth taking some time to admire its beauty.
Overall, this location is a great spot to spend an afternoon with friends and family. The stunning views, delicious food, and unique cultural experience make it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to this area.

Altacia Mall is a bustling and vibrant shopping complex that boasts an array of brand-name stores, boutiques, eateries and events. The mall offers an impressive variety of clothing stores and food choices, with the Argentine steak place being a popular option for many. However, there have been reports of some counterfeit name-brand items being sold at the mall. Despite ongoing construction near the entrance causing parking difficulties, Altacia Mall remains a great destination for both shoppers and food enthusiasts alike.

I went to play with my 6-year-old daughter to kill time before my flight departs at 10pm.
I was surprised at how hygienic and clean it was ✨
There is also a food court, perfect for families.
There are also plenty of toy stores, miscellaneous goods stores, and Lego shops for children.
The aquarium was so impressive that I couldn't believe it was an aquarium of the same level as one found in a shopping mall, and I was very satisfied! ️
However, personally, I was carrying a large amount of luggage before the flight, so I thought it would be nice if there were coin lockers.
Approximately 10 minutes by car from Leon Airport.
Use Uber to get to the airport for 260 pesos (approximately ¥2,340) in January 2024.
If you are traveling with children to kill time before your flight, this is definitely a good option❣️
There are also shops such as H&M, Vans, and New Era, so adults can also enjoy it.

It is an alright mall. you got everything you need, but nothing too fancy. Plaza Mayor is the better mall with more variety and better shops. Altacia is still nice now and then, plus it has the Aquarium as a bonus.

Also I have been told some of the stores are a bunch of fake name brand items but I have no way to confirm. If you have time to spare might as well check this out.

Nice mall, one of the biggest malls in Leon city , with a huge parking, alot of restaurants and coffee shops , Liverpool store, very interesting aquarium, trampoline jumping park, and alot of other deferent stores, but for me this is not the best place for shopping neither eating and drinking, because everything is expensive for me , so I go there either to walk with friends or to park my car,

Parque Zoológico de León offers a plethora of entertainment options for visitors. These include the chance to observe hundreds of animals and participate in activities such as safari tours, miniature train rides, and picnics in designated areas. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitors are not allowed to walk through the zoo but must instead drive through it; however, this provides an interesting perspective on the animals and their habitats.
Bring back really good memories when I was a kid and Bring my kids now is great we have a great time

Great zoo for a first timer! Took our 6 year old here while in Leon for a fútbol tournament. It was his first time and it was a great option. The zoo is not too large or too small. It was a good 3-4 hrs of walking around and taking our time. The animal exhibits are small and the animals weren’t very active but our son had a fun time seeing them up close. The safari ride was fun but not worth the purchase of the package, the package did NOT include everything. Still had to purchase experiences throughout the park. The do not sell anything but soda and water. Tacos near the giraffes are AMAZING!!!!!
Danielle Chaffee — Google review
This is a great zoo! We got the tickets that included the safari, which I enjoyed. The zoo is well laid out and I love the areas where you can get close to the animals. It’s nice to see them roaming around freely :) They have a nice variety of species and some I’ve never seen before. I also loved feeding the giraffes as they are one of my favorite animals!

Nice place for a lovely walk around animals
Karina PR — Google review
Impressive array of animals! The variety and quantity rivals any other zoo I've been to, including San Diego. The facilities could be nicer but a good portion of the zoo was under construction so I'm assuming improvements are coming. For the price, I was super pleased!
Danielle Tavera — Google review
Nice family place. No where does it have a smooth walkway for handicapped folks to navigate on thier own.
Lines were long but went quick. You pay for parking. There are no ATMs close by. You can purchase tickets with a credit ir debit card.

This was an amazing zoo! I was a bit bummed out because you can’t walk through and have to drive through because of COVID-19. But it was actually a pretty cool way to see the zoo and we all agree we will be going back!
Adriane Gatrell — Google review
Really it’s a nice place to go and to see the animals, but unfortunately you can’t feed the giraffes 🦒 and the ostriches with the carrots 🥕 as you could before. As for the rest it’s really green and lovely 😊
Marisha Unicorn Dreamlandia — Google review
This place was amazing! Their prices are very cheap and you get to see a large variety of animals. Some animals you could even see up close. You need at least 2 hours to see most of it. You could turn it into an all day thing if you want. Lots of different animals to see. I definitely recommend the Safari experience, we arrived too late but the train option would have been better.Their orangutan knows sign language. Their white tiger is beautiful. And their bird and reptile areas are a must see. Very impressed.

Sp zona piel is a vast bazaar renowned for its numerous leather merchants showcasing an extensive range of boots, coats, luggage and clothing. The marketplace boasts an exceptional collection of high-quality products available at very reasonable prices. Additionally, there are designated seating areas for uninterested spouses to rest while browsing through the impressive selection. If it's made from leather, this marketplace has got it all! Moreover, one can find a fur coat shop with great deals on merchandise in Sp zona piel.
The place to go if you are looking for leather goods. You will find the whole range of stuff from “top notch” quality down to the real cheap goods in low quality also. Some of the shops are just wholesalers which sell in volume only but most businesses are for the “normal” customer also.
Always try to negotiate prices and never pay the first price which is asked.

Thomas Koehle — Google review
Like all other reviewers have stated the abundance of leather goods is HUGE! From national products to China based products.
You will need to shop around to get a good deal but it seemed like most places have their prices set for wholesales vs , individual sales. Most places accept cash and will give you about a 10% discount for paying cash.
Make sure you go with time to look as it can be overwhelming.
Places usually open between 10 and 11.
Some places are friendlier than others.

So fun to walk through many city blocks of store after store! (Walk back in more for better deals,, and bargain for a discount). All kinds of cheap shoes, some nice leather boots, bags and coats, luggage, belts, hats, some clothes. The shoe deals are fantastic! Buy an extra bag and take home handstiched cowboy boots or purses! (For less than $100.00) Safe area during the day, but gets very crowded. Right across from the main bus station

The Triumphal Arch of the Causeway of the Heroes is a late 1800s monument with a lion on top, surrounded by fountains and statues. It was built to commemorate independence and marks the start of a beautiful outdoor park area. On weekends, it's bustling with families and friends out for walks while street music fills the air. Mundo A is an excellent destination to escape the summer heat. The water temperature was not overly cold, contrary to some reviews that stated otherwise. While compared to American water parks it may be slightly cooler, it still provided a refreshing experience. However, there were a few downsides such as certain attractive slides being closed and the wave pool lacking impressive waves.
This place is amazing. We had a great time at minimal cost. There is a store on site for those last minute necessities, as well as a food shack - or you can bring in your own picnic. The prices are all around economical. The staff are super friendly and helpful. From very young child to older adult, you will have a great time. The water slides are awesome!
Javier Ortiz — Google review
Great spot to beat the summer heat. Water was not too cold (other reviews I've read said the water was cold -- compared to American water parks, it's the same. Compared to some other hot-springs-fed water parks it is cooler, but it felt very good and refreshing to me). My only complaints would be that several of the coolest looking slides were not open and the wave pool had pretty anemic looking waves. The only food options I saw were packaged foods like chips and candy; they did have beer, pop and water but no fresh hot food that I could see. Other than that, great spot. We went on a Saturday when it was 85F and it was not crowded and easy to get a table in the shade. Cost was 95 pesos per person, and 40 pesos to rent a two-person tobogan for the day which I recommend!

The women's restrooms were very dirty other than that it has nice installations and parking is ok also, they play good music one pool area as well also you can't take alcoholic beverages in they'll make you leave them at the gate but you can purchase alcohol inside.

Very interesting place where you can discover the aspects of death that this Mexican community has since century XIX, besides real human bodies mummified there are archaeological pieces from pre-hispanic era and an interesting collection of old cameras from early XX century, after watching the museum you must visit the cemetery beside where all the bodies come from.

It was beautiful. Went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded. Also, its a shame that we cannot go further into the cathedral, but i understand it's because of COVID guidelines. It's still the same, so many people trying to sell you candy or cheap metal bracelets/necklaces, just say no thank you and continue walking. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience.

A unique little church tucked away in the middle of this Rancho. Very appealing to the eye as it's beauty lies within the parishioners. As I tour through different places in Mexico the first place I go is to the church. It defines the city or town and this church says the town is poor but it people are rich in spirit and quality of life. Religion is big here and that's what makes this town so beautiful. They may not have much but what they have they are willing to share. This is a place that will greet you with open arms.

This is an amazing trip! It is well worth the drive and the cost for hiring a guide and boat. I live in Chapala, and my family came to visit for Christmas. We drove to Mezcala (about 45 minutes) and just hired the first guy that came up to us. He was young, but was born and raised in Mezcala, so knew the history of the island very well - and spoke quite good English. There were 6 of us total, and the cost for him and the boat was $1200 pesos. We tipped him extra, because he was so helpful and made sure my mom (who has had knee surgery and doesn't do well with hills or uneven ground) went slow and rested. He took us pretty much everywhere, explained all the important things, and answered all the questions we had. Note: there is a steep hill from the dock to where the ruins are, and the ground is uneven most of the way through. I highly recommend hiking boots.
This was a lot of fun, very interesting, and is a reasonably short trip - we were only there for about 90 minutes, and the boat ride is about 15 min each way. I'm sure we had wanted to explore more, our guide would have been happy to accommodate us. If you like history, make sure you add this trip to your list!

The malecon is a great place to hang out, get some drinks or snacks, and take in some of the scenery and culture of Chapala. You need to go a number of blocks off the malecon to find authentic food -- most of the restaurants there cater to gringos. But the food there is very good.
The Zoologico Guadalajara is one of the best zoos in Latin America and is home to a wide variety of animals from all over the globe. The gardens are well-maintained and provide plenty of shade, while additional attractions like the Sky Zoo offer a birds' eye view of the animal habitats, as well as a safari experience with close encounters with giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hippos and ostriches.
There are a variety of tickets available which allow you access to different areas. All are very reasonably priced. I got the basic zoo package and really enjoyed the day. The monkey land feature was fantastic and the monkeys were free to run around and up to you. The day does involve a lot of walking and hills which may not be ideal in the heat with children, but you can pay a small amount more for the train or chairlift to avoid that. The only negative I found was how busy some of the areas such as the reptile house were, which meant you were shuffled through quite quickly but we were there on a nday which is the busiest day. Overall, would definitely recommend and if I were to return would buy the ticket add ons for more areas.
Yugal S — Google review
I recommend the Diamond package.
There’s a lot of walking.
Safari ride is rough road *No seat belt*
The train is a one time use with the bracelet.
The skyline has great views. It’s difficult getting on and off.
The aquarium is small. Best part is feeding the manatees. The penguin building smelled horrible. However it was cute seeing the penguins.
As for food
You can bring your own food.
I had popcorn <~Terrible, burnt
Cheeseburger <~ I didn’t like the taste
Nachos <~ great
Quesadilla <~ okay
The facilities are outdated but it’s not a big deal.
Overall it’s a great place to visit.

Very nice zoo! I definitely reccomend bringing comfortable shoes and tons of water since it is very warm. The diamond pass is the best if you would like to experience the park as a whole.
Sofia R — Google review
A once in a lifetime experience. We loved everything about it. The prices are shown in the picture. We bought the “diamante” because it has the sky zoo + aquarium. Once entering you are greeted by the flamingos. On your right there is a food stand. And walk more on your left is the entrance to the train. The train takes you around the whole park. A little ahead is the entrance for the sky zoo. That did not have a line, unlike the train did. I went on the sky zoo first then ate some food and then went on the train. After that we walked around the zoo and towards the end we went on the safari truck that takes you around specific animals that are closed off. My favorite is the sky zoo because it’s unique and you see everything. The train is alright and is quick. I went on a Friday afternoon, to see the whole thing lasted us 5 hours. The gift shops were not so good and pricey. You could go inside the zoo with a bottled water and snacks. The food inside is also expensive but decent. I bought the tickets on the spot in the booth. The wait wasn’t much. Buy the wristbands and place it on and go in.
Melissa — Google review
Well maintained ZOO, there are 3 packages 100, 260, 330 peso. 100 peso for Normal walk through visiting animals. For marine, safari, sky zoo have to buy 260 or 330 peso package. I could suggest get 330 peso package and go morning time 10 am so you can complete all these areas. Foods are available inside zoo. Penguin, Marine, Sky zoo, White Lion, kangaroo are highlights in this zoo. Close to ZOO children's park also there... kindly plan accordingly full day visit for kids with family..
Predivrajan Nagendran — Google review
Nice place to spend time with friends and family. The zoo is so big that I will suggest you to wear comfortable shoes sneakers preferably. They have a lot of activities to do in the zoo. The price of the ticket is reasonable not at all expensive. It includes cable train tour, train ride and many more stuff with in the zoo. You’ll find small cafe to grab something real quick to eat.

It was very warm but super enjoyable. Employees were super helpful and friendly. I recommend buying the diamond pass, you get to enjoy everything once, the train, safari, aquarium and the sky zoo (recommend doing this towards closing time) it was quiet and you can enjoy listening to the birds.

Came to Guadalajara with my granddaughter who wanted to visit the Zoologico Guadalajara, and we were pleasantly surprised to see how much there was to see. So much greenery...everything was lush, overgrown, trees that have been here for decades. The exhibits were very well designed, for example the monkey areas: cables which supported the netting, as well as the enclosure which allows the animals to go from area to area, a great job. Our favorite was the ride thru the Masai. Wow. You see the many different animals in their natural environments, living in harmony with other animals. You're able to witness the water buffalo, the ostriches, antelopes, alligators of the Nile river. Along with the Elephants, the Rhinos, the Hippos and so much more. There is so much to see and experience within these walls. Come and spend some time, you will be coming back again. 😎👍👍

At the Guadalajara zoo there are different price points and we opted for the premier which is a short train ride, nice enough and quick. My mom has a disability scooter and I asked the attendant if he's sure they will take care of it because she needs it for long distances and was assured it won't leave the platform if we didn't hand in the number given to us. When the train completed the trip we took it and no one batted an eye or even asked if it was ours so clearly if anyone leaves something with them just know there's a possibility it can be taken. She drove off with it and nobody stopped us, I went around and gave the attendant both numbers and he didn't even ask a question. Do not leave your stuff there because again there is no assurance it will be taken care of. The zoo is ok, it's off the bucket list for a family member that has kids. I was not interested especially with my mom, I really think it needs better operations when it comes to getting off the train and more disability pathways.
Syra Ozaeta — Google review
We had a very short visit so we bought the basic package. We bought the train a sky tram tickets separately. Not sure if it would make sense to buy the diamond package but that price jump is crazy. Either way the zoo is HUGE. Definitely need a whole day to walk through it all. We got to feed the baby deers. So cute! There were plenty of bathrooms and trash cans around. Very clean. Definitely would come back.

What a fun zoo! I was shocked how good it was coming from places like the National Zoo in DC, the San Diego zoo, and point defiance in the PNW. It's not nearly as big as those but it's really well laid out and the sky lift that goes from one end to the other gives you amazing views across the entire zoo.

Located in the heart of Guadalajara, this cultural center focuses on art and culture. It features over 100 different rooms and 20 patios, as well as murals by renowned Mexican artist Jose Clemente Orozco. There is also a rich collection of other pieces by Mexican artists on display. Regular art exhibitions are held here, and there are also attractions suitable for children.
We spent our day here on a casual friday. There was a short line before entering the museum, there is a price difference for locals and tourists. You can't drink or eat during the walk and you must leave all the bags at the start.
For the tourist there are 2 tours a day.
You can walk yourself through the museum.
The museum is very big and is inside an old hospice. They gave the medicines to the people which came from the garden.
Without an guide it is very hard to walk it on the correct way, so we went all over and skipped a couple of rooms.
The most famous part was very beautiful! You can see the pictures yourself (:
If you ask me if this is a must see in Guadalajara I would say no, but still a nice museum if you don't have plans for the day.

A striking building, but unfortunately the expos were underdeveloped with too little historical background and context.
The building is huge and wonderfully beautiful as its own history piece.
I was disappointed in the staff. They were uninterested in helping patrons or making them feel at home in this public cultural space. Due to poor signage, lack of staffing, and the curmudgeon and unhelpful attitude of the present staff, we were more often lost than found.
Only after we returned home did we discover we missed (never found) one half of the museum. I'm embarrassed to admit... We somehow missed half of the museum?
It's disheartening a public space's value was reduced by resident employees. I expected more pride in one's city, state, and country.
For $4 US it was worth seeing one half of the museum.

We traveled with 5 people. We paid at the taquilla per adult and one kid. My purse and backpack were not allowed, too big for their standard. They do have free tags for storage with museum staff,or private lockers for some pesos. We stored our stuff safely with staff and it was an easy pickup. We visited around noon on a Thursday and it was not busy. We took a stroller and the walkways were pretty accessible. We took plenty of pictures and enjoyed our time there. I really liked the QRC code for a history in English and Spanish. So bring your headphones/ airpods. There is a cafe that sells snacks and water because our backpack lunch wasn't allowed. The bathrooms were clean and accessible. I didn't see any baby changing tables, so that was a bummer. We would return again.

I stopped by after learning this was a former orphanage. A tour guide mentioned that kids who didn’t know their parents were given the last name of the orphanage founder. The compound now consists of mostly newer art. Probably would have been more enjoyable with a tour guide, but it’s possible to stroll around on your own and leverage the QR codes. Free admission Tuesdays.

Really nice museum with amazing murals. I would only suggest adding some context to certain art pieces since I felt that some art was amazing, but there were no clear and visible info on it. Aside from that, its a great place.

The Teatro Degollado is an important theater in Guadalajara and one of the most popular concert halls in Mexico. It is designed in neoclassical style and features a gilded interior.
Beautiful building with a great entrance hall and wall ornaments. Lights on the Seats make it kind of hard to take beautiful photos

Very nice theatre, the home of the Jalisco Symphonic Orchestra, it reminded me a bit of the theatre a la Scala in Milan.
Entry is free if there are no events between the opening times for visitors (13:00 to 15:00), the orchestra and other performances happen frequently so it is worth checking the programme.

Top-end theater venue, great acoustics.
Went to the 2023 Mariachi gala and was not disappointed. Teatro Degollado is a superb concert hall, with a seating capacity of around 1,600.
Pro-Tip: Bar prices are predictably on the high side and the bar itself is not really large enough to cater for a full house, during the short intermissions.
Pocket/purse searches happen at the door, so if you're trying to bring something in, you need to be creative.

A beautiful building of the XIX century. Very well taken care of. Many artistic activities happening here.

Beautiful theater built in the 19th century. Dedicated to classical concerts and theater presentations. The seats in the upper levels are uncomfortable; otherwise, very good experience.

What a wonderful evening. Top tiered venue, excellent musicians, and the operatic singers accompanying them on some of the music was superb. I was not expecting such an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this to anyone!

A beautiful piece of architecture and art in GDL, a true jewel. This is a neoclassical theater located in the plaza center, stunning!
This is most definitely a must visit while visiting or living in GDL! A 19th century architectural masterpiece, opened in 1866.

Looks like roman historical place, use to perform drama and Mariachi music and concerts. You can find Mariachi music performances at the entrance area.
There's a common area in front of this, which includes Guadalajara sign, statues, fountain and great view of cathedral. Looks more beautiful in the night.

The impressive cathedral in the heart of Guadalajara is a centuries-old building made up of a mix of architectural styles. The towers are iconic and locals are proud of its architecture, which dates back to 1854.
So beautiful to just sit on the benches and watch the sun go down behind the cathedral. Guadalajara is beautiful! The streets are so busy, and there are merchants everywhere. The architecture is stunning. Not many cafes in the center through. I probably wouldn’t stay all day in the center around the cathedral, a few hours max. Thanks for hosting someone from the USA 🇺🇸❤️

Beautiful cathedral that is the center of attraction in Centro. Beautiful architecture, lovely service during Christmas Eve. A must visit.

Church is beautiful inside out. So much history and streets are clean and well kept. The architecture alone is impeccable, but what's truly stood out was the glass windows and paintings throughout.

Beautiful old Building. It is wonderful to see the history of the area. It still is amazing how people built those things without modern equipment. It was nice to have a local explain all of the buildings history to me. I have been there probably 10 times already. I'm sure I will be back. It is also close to San Juan De Dios for some great shopping!

Beautiful building inside and out. The story of the Child Saint was very heart breaking. I thought the body there was just fake but no, it's real! The history of the cathedral its self is pretty wild. How it fell apart from like 3 earthquakes.

Very famous attraction and for good reason. This cathedral is gorgeous - both on the inside and outside. It's in the heart of the centre, with plenty to do around. I would recommend going inside to feel the history in the air!

I grab a frappe and sit in the park every day, to take a break from working at home.
I wonder how they ever did such precise and beautiful architecture hundreds of years ago, just using eyes and hands.

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful Cathedrals in the world. Especially the exterior.
I took a free walking tour of Guadalajara by Alex and this was included. I highly recommend it for the context.
If you’re in Guadalajara and anywhere near, do not miss spending some time just strolling around and soaking in this feast for the eyes from all its angles and plazas on each side :)

A beautiful cathedral surrounded by walking areas (plazas). There is a big fountain in front of it. Inside the light creates beautiful effects. Take the time to walk all around and inside. Built between 1571-1618. There is a constant flow of people and corridors are wide with lots of sitting spaces.

The Templo Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento is a beautiful, historic church located in the heart of Guadalajara. It is well worth a visit for its dramatic Gothic-style architecture and impressive stained glass windows. The temple is open daily from 07:00 to 21:00 and visitors are charged for admission.
Gothic architecture, activities around it, dancing people, artists. Let the music pierce your heart. Of course, we should not forget to travel by electric carriage. This is one of the regions that reflect the real culture of Mexico. Everything was very positive. I strongly recommend you to see the inside of the building.

Such a beautiful church.
Do yourself a favor and assure you come here.
If you can talk your way into the catacombs downstairs too, it will make an experience you won't soon forget. If you can't, I've added lots of photos.
There is a small show outside when the hours turn. Make time to peruse the surrounding areas.
It is good manners to assure you leave a donation before you depart.

This church is very beautiful and architecture is stunning, from outside its incredible and going inside it just mesmerizing. Each hour there are figurines coming out from one of the towers and doing its own thing, so fun to watch and notice it. Every detail is just incredibly stunning

You can’t really beat this Neo-Gothic marvel anywhere in the Americas that I’ve seen. Impeccably built about 100 years ago to match the great gothic cathedrals of Europe. For a second, you could be in medieval England or France. Free time enter, take off your hat and respect worshippers.
Tobias Madigan — Google review
I love The Expiatorio it's rich with history about it's struggle to be built, several times it changed architectures for reasons of destiny. The clock is German made; curiously on the hour the clock chimes 25 songs and at the same time little door's open and figurines of the Apostles comes out and makes a half circle and then go back in the other door.
Built in the Gothic style the columns inside are so beautiful and there are many of them. The stained glass windows and towers are awesome, and the craftsmanship is fantastic. I highly recommend that you explore this church.
There's under ground parking.

Beautiful church…looks like it was built in the middle-ages, but in fact, started in the early part of last century. The clock tower with the parade of the apostles stiles on the hour.

Bosque Los Colomos is a 92-hectare park located in the Guadalajara-Zapopan boundary, which has walking paths and picnic areas. The park has a Japanese garden for a few minutes of quiet contemplation, and at the center is a large lake, supporting many bird and amphibian species.
Nice tiny Japanese garden with many 🐢 , squirrels 🐿 and huge golden fish 🐟 . Actually, squirrels are everywhere in the park, though. You could do a horseback ride as well.Definitely worthy to visit

Beautiful forest. It was nice listening to the birds chirping and the squirrels being so playful. I'm glad we got to see the Japanese garden. It was small and well maintained. Seeing the coy fish swimming around and the ducks relaxing on the grass was so serene.

The park is so lovely and peaceful. We got there early on a Sunday morning and the vibes were great. Everyone seems to be in a relaxed and kind mood.
The animals here are accustomed to people, the squirrels are used to being fed because they run right up to people.
It is a nice break from the noisy and chaotic city.
I would recommend checking this park out.

Que bonito! What an amazing park in the middle of such a large city. The Japanese tea gardens are worth finding and just a few meters away is the Eucalyptus area (near the disc golf)--- go hug a beautiful tree! But watch out for those friendly squirrels, they may sneak up on you.
Warning... the park has signs... but they are not everywhere and definable not well placed... we got turned around and couldn't find any signs. We had to use Google maps to find our entrance again. Thank God for that...we were heading in the wrong direction and it was getting late.

The park is very enjoyable and relaxing. The park is very well kept, and that includes the restrooms. We did a 30 minute trail on horseback thru a portion of the park, and about 100 yards of it was on a small river. After the ride, we only had time to visit the Japones Garden, which is about 20 minutes from the front gate.
