Well-known cable-car tower at the peak where the Cristo de las Noas statue of Christ sits.
A simple reminder of how small we are between the stars. It's a beautiful view, has a restaurant for a couples date night, and dinosaurs for the kiddos. There is a lot of walking up there stairs so wear comfortable shoes and bring some water.

A truly different perspective on Torreón. I highly recommend it and if you go up for the sunset make sure you get early enough to enjoy it. The bar closes early and also there are lots of levels to explore.

What an awesome place. I really like the peace you feel inside the church and how much thought have been put into the making of the cite. Still work to be done and they seem to be working on it. I fully Recommend this place to have a better look of the statue and for a panoramic view of the city. Loved it.
David Valdes — Google review
Very nice! Price was about $3 for two people and the trip took about 10 minutes.
Very nice view and I have been on other cable cars and it was not near as scary as some of the others that I have been on in the past.
It provides a wonderful Vista of the entire city and is a nice experience. The cars hold up to 8 people and slow down significantly so you can get in.
I highly recommend a trip up the teleferico if you are in Torreon.

A cheap and fun way to spend an hour. A 10 minute ride each way. And the great viewpoint from the top
Daniel Patman — Google review
Great fun for the whole family. Only 30 pesos for adults and 15 pesos for children and senior citizens. You catch the cable car downtown and take the ride up to the top of the mountain. It takes only about 5 minutes. It gives you a great view of the whole city of Torreon. You can see for many miles in all directions in a clear day.

Sights & Landmarks
Puente de Ojuela and Mapimí are the must see attractions in Durango. I have been to Mapimí many times and have made many friends there. The people are so friendly. They will invite you into their homes. The place is very historical. It was one of the most prosperous places in the region due to the gold mine. Well-worth a visit. You can do it on public transport from Gómez Palacio.

Muy bonita. Amazing place to be with the surrounding mountains. The bridge is pretty cool. Going into the mine was even better. The road from the main highway is gravel then changes to a stone road for about 1-2 km one way only. One of the best tourists attractions I have been too.

A great place to go with family and friends! Historic mine and Little town which had up to 5000 people during its best times of mineral explotation. Entrance: $120 mexican pesos. Around $10 USD. Enjoy!

An opulent 1907 mansion, this museum features art nouveau furniture & French-inspired architecture.

Hands down of the most beautiful Victorian style mansions in the world. Access is limited and it's all about luck do that is now part of the national autonomous university of Chihuahua but it's even worth watching 9n the outside.

Very old building still showing the opulent way some chihuahua people enjoyed back on those years before the 1910 revolution. French inspired house and furniture.
First let me say the ticket fee is $34 pesos and $10 pesos fee permission to take pictures which is a must.
Customer asistencia is beyond excellent. Anyone there is friendly and so willing to answer any questions about the house.
In the first room there’s art of local artists on display. A nice bedroom , the two way stairs, continuing to the right is the side exit and finally de arts room. Yes : music ! Along the beautiful artistic decoration of the chairs and piano. And on the upper rooms that notable people donate to display permanently there.
Quinta Gameros is a great piece of history that anyone can enjoy and learn about our country and our people.
Also there’s a QR code on a poster just outside the front of the house so people can do a virtual tour ( this was started at the begging of pandemia).
It’s a very enjoyable experience learning ( again for me 🤓) about Chihuahua history and it’s notable people.

Used to be a mansion built for Manuel Gameros Ronquillo, a member of the Porfirian elite. Construction started in October 1907 and finished in November 1910, just as the Mexican Revolution was commencing. Gameros and his family fled to the United States in 1913, now an Historic National Monument of Mexico.
Quinta Gameros was given to Venustiano Carranza as his personal residence and office in April 1914. Following a dispute with Villa, Carranza left the city and the Quinta Gameros would go on to be used for various purposes during the war, including as government offices and as a military hospital.
Quinta Gameros currently houses the Centro Cultural Universitario Quinta Gameros, a regional museum of Mexico.
There were group wedding commenced wheh we visited it at the sunny Saturday afternoon, the all-dressed-up newly weds and their guests, decorated the mansion like a fairytale palace.

Well maintained park! Hard working Rangers! Lots of sites!

The good: Far enough from the road to not be noisy; large and level sites; budget friendly, especially if you have the NM state parks camping pass; and it's an interesting place to learn a bit of history, especially since there's a museum in the park. Cell coverage for Verizon and Boost are good.
The not so good: Restrooms, showers, and the dump station are closed until further notice; the playground area is also closed until further notice; electric and water hookups are a little oddly placed, so bring plenty of hose and cord.
Overall, a pleasant enough stay and we'll likely visit again.
Sue Kidd — Google review
Quiet, simple state park a couple of miles from the Mexican border. I stayed on a non-electric, water only campsite but there are lots of campsites with electricity. There are very clean bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers. The park rangers and other employees are all very friendly and are willing to answer questions and give directions to restaurants and grocery stores in the area.
You can see the lights of the border in the distance. There are awesome sunsets here.

We had to accelerate our travel plans from Ontario to Arizona by a week to avoid some very unseasonably cold weather. Unfortunately this weather extended down into Dallas where we had planned to spend a few days. Looking for somewhere we could get to that was warm we discovered Pancho Villa State Park. We made plans to head there for four or five nights, not knowing what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. This is a beautiful Park with great sites beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Sites are only $14 per night with water and hydro and no admission fees. Puerto Palomas, Mexico is just 3 miles away across the border. Although the washrooms and dump station are closed at this time there were very clean porta potties available and the washrooms at the visitor center were opened from 7:00
a. m. until 4:00 p.m
Would highly recommend several nights here if you are in the area.

Very nice museum to learn about the of Pancho Villa Raid into the United States on March 9th, 1916 and the Punitive Expedition which followed. Did you know the United States Army was using armored trucks and aeroplanes then? They were! Spend some time here and learn all kinds of interesting facts you did not know about the leaders and soldiers on both sides of the raid.

Poncho Villa State Park commemorates Villa’s historic attack on the U.S. at Columbus, NM just a few miles from the border. It’s a beautifully landscaped desert park with clean working amenities, trails, historical remnants, and a museum. Well worth a stop if you’re down by the border.
Rob Campellone — Google review
What I am grateful for on this windy frigid day of camping; 1. New Mexico State parks have camping spots with electric hookups for only 14$/night (can be reserved online at Reserve America) 2. my brother gave me an outdoor extension cord as I loaded up the car for this road trip, 3. that Deming Walmart had one last ceramic electric heater on the shelf 4. I have foods suitable for raw eating 5. this is not my first rodeo of cold weather camping. (Certainly not my last for the next couple of months.) 6. If things get sketchy, Borderlands Cafe or Erma's Kitchen is right across the road.
This state park is nice! The museum is very informative. Did you know...Pancho Villa's second hand man "The Butcher" was thrown from his horse and died in quicksand? The universe finds a way.
Debbie Drives and Travels — Google review
I have been to every state park in New Mexico and this one is my favorite! I love the little town of Columbus as well, and as an added bonus, I can get my prescriptions filled just 2 miles away in Puerto Palomas

Nice State Park - Pancho Villa is a really nice state park with plenty of quiet camping with water and electricity. We just spent five days there and enjoyed the little town of Columbus and the surrounding area. Being only three miles from Mexico we parked at the border and twice had wonderful meals at the Pink Store. The staff at Pancho Villa are welcoming and good, the park and restrooms are very clean. Unfortunately the dump station is inoperable and I think this hurts the attendance a lot.
Steven M Jones — Google review
Pancho Villa State Park, also known as Village of Columbus and Camp Furlong is a National Historic Landmark District commemorating the 1916 raid by Pancho Villa on the town of Columbus, New Mexico, and the American military response to that raid, the "Punitive Expedition" led by General John J. Pershing.
Not many buildings remained, and now it's a camp site, take a walk around the entire park, you will still get to see the headquarter, the sign points to the very first US military airbase, and the first grease rack where they used yo repair trucks.
Bill Lin — Google review
Amazing presentation of the Pancho Villa story by a very knowledgeable docent. The reasons, the raid and the aftermath, along with great artifacts. Many firsts in US military history occurred here in 1916.
R Hardy — Google review
I generally love going to this park. The cactus gardens and Yuca are beautiful, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately they're currently having sewer problems leaving them with no restrooms, showers, or dump station, so the place is sadly empty, with the south loop completely closed.
I'm looking forward to being able to go here again, and might chance a 3-4 day stay now in an rv, if you like being alone under the stars...
And with the border entrance to Mexico right next to the park, it's always good for a quick overnight stay. There is electricity and water. If you need anything else, the rangers can point you in the right direction.
Michelle Phillips — Google review
A wonderful overnight for us on our trip. This town is where Pancho Villa made his raid on the US late one night in March 1916. It later became the first US military air base and there are several remnants of the buildings in the park. Our stay was quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms are clean and tidy and while the sites don't have sewer, there is a dump station on your way out. We plan to return.
The best hidden gem in the desert. Rather it’s the best gift selection, herpetological experience or you just want to enjoy top notch art and botanicals, this is the place to be.

Lots of cool snakes. Someone else said it was therapeutic. I completely agree! One of my favorite places ever now. The museum is an extraordinarily well-done tribute to the Chiricahua Desert and the reptiles of the West! Some of the snakes are terrifying, and others are adorable!
Jonathan Yelverton — Google review
Chiricahua Desert museum very nice place to stop on your way up to portal. I did not actually go into the museum there is a fee for the museum part. But there is a beautiful Desert garden with fountains and various type of cacti. There is a large well-stocked gift shop with some interesting unique gifts. And it has some picnic tables outside a great place to stop on the way up to cave Creek Canyon.

The staff there from owners Bob & Sheri Ashley to all of the other employees are so helpful and knowledgeable. The museum is very nice indoors and out. The collection of snakes and other reptiles is incredible. They have one of the biggest rattlesnakes I have ever seen. The gift shop there has so much great stuff... Michelle , Hailee, Crystal, Chelsea, and Melissa all helped me out at one point or another over the few days I was in the area. I highly recommend a stop by The Chiricahua desert museum. Plan a little block of time because you'll want to see all of it...!

Small but nice place. Huge gift shop with all sorts of items from t-shirts to jewelry. There is a small walled in area with specimen plants of the area's desert environment. Most all of the plants were identified with markers listing their Latin and common names. The main building contains a display room of snakes and lizards. Of you don't like snakes, it could be a bit overwhelming. A separate building contains artifacts of the Apaches who once inhabitated the area. A lot of the information pertains to Geronimo. While small, it provides good information on the local environs.

Excellent gallery, cabins to rent, RV hook up, and air conditioned Conestoga wagon you can stay in! Our RV rig parked next to the wagon feels like modern pioneering. We look forward to taking a shower in the bathhouse, and driving our tow vehicle up into the Coronado National Forest, seven miles away.
Terrific restaurant/ supply store nearby, excellent views.

This is a "must see" if you are in the area, and we'll worth going out of your way if you're not! Lots of local crafts and historical knowledge and a real wealth of natural science expertise. The live reptile collection is not to be missed!!!
Bruce Bundy — Google review
Strange little museum. If your looking to see live rattlesnakes in glass cases then this is your place but it's NOT a museum of the chiricahua desert! The gift shop is as others have said... Pretty good. Books and things your not likely to see anywhere else. Your entry fee covers the Apache museum that's next door. It has a interesting time line for the Apache presence in the Southwest an some interesting artifacts but I'd be hard pressed to really think of it as a real museum.
They do have an interesting botanic garden that's free and it's as close as you'll get to a museum of the Chiricahua Desert. I can't say that minded paying what we did but I'll for sure never go back.

The Queen Mine Tour is an affordable and enjoyable way to learn about the history of mining and disasters. The century-old underground complex provides a unique experience, with visitors riding on a train through the mountain. While close proximity to strangers is unavoidable during the hour-long tour, it's recommended to wear N95 masks for protection. The guide, who was formerly a miner at the mill, provided entertaining stories in a clean and family-friendly manner.
The tour was so fun! Nice and cool underground! We didn't realize it would be on a train with hard hats and flashlights...so awesome! Our guide was knowledgeable, personable and excellent in all ways.
The only downside was waiting for the tour to start... it got pretty warm, crowded & a bit chaotic. Some airflow or fans would have made it perfect!
Would definitely do this again & recommend to anyone who likes history & doing fun things!!

Loved loved loved this tour of a once working mine from the 1800's to 1970's. Our tour guide was wonderful, I learned so much about the mining in the area, how they worked and about the mine itself. Your completely immersed in the tour by wearing a hard hat, you get a light and ride a train 1500 feet into the mine, you will stop a few times along the way to learn about the mine. I guess the tour took about an hour from start to finish. Make reservations ahead of time, they book up fast on the weekends. HAVE FUN!

This is our second trip to the mine. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I always purchase a geode to crack open and they all are going to be quartz but is so much fun and getting to take home the experience and beauty of a geode. We had already experienced the tour of the mine I would recommend it!!

Very fun, worth the low cost entry fee.
The tour was into the mountain on a train you straddle. Be prepared to be in very close proximity to strangers for about an hour. We wore N95 masks but it seemed optional and only one other couple had theirs.
If you can get over that the tour was awesome. The guide was a miner at that mill so it was like stories from grandpa. He kept it clean and g rated, but entertaining. We will never forget our trip and will recommend to others. Just protect yourself and mask up.
It's owned by the city and entry was 14 pp. Totally worth that.

What a great tour! One of the best I’ve been on. Our guide was a former miner and told the group so many exciting details of what happened during the mining decades and how the minerals were mined. He was funny and very entertaining. The rail car was fun and took us deep into the mine. If you’ve never been in a mine please consider this fun way to discover how mines worked and the process of mining. Being in an actual old mine was thrilling!
Rebecca Seaton — Google review
An hour tour of a copper mine. Part of the fun was riding the little train into the mine tunnel. The guide tells all about the history of the mine. There is a rather large flight of stairs up to one of the areas but one may remain on the train instead. Be advised toddlers may think it a little scary or boring. Also it is quite cooler temperature in the mine than outside. I found it refreshing. I had a great time and thought it well worth 14 dollar admission. There is a nice gift shop with lots of mineral samples and mine tour related displays.
Daryl Katz — Google review
Great experience and well worth the drive! Did a great job of detailing the history of mining both generally as well as specifically in the region and in the mine itself. Our 6 year old son and 78 year old dad both loved it so it's great for many age ranges. Great to visit year round as the temperature underground is chilly but not uncomfortable.

This tour is a walk back in time. We were lucky to have a tour guide that actually worked in the mine. I don’t remember his real name but he said if we didn’t like him his name was John. Haha. He was great. Very informative and very well done. I learned a lot and can appreciate the hard work that miners endured working in the dark with candles. The train ride was a fun and creative means of transportation. The gift shop is also very well done. We highly recommend this tour.

What a wonderful way to see a part of history generations later. I've done this tour a couple of times throughout my years but wanted to share this experience with my son, so here was trip #3 and even though I've been before, I continued to learn so much more. Our tour guide was absolutely a treat, he had so many more details, facts and yet kept it interesting and funny with some really cute jokes. I believe he stated that he once was a miner himself. My 8 year old loves collecting rocks and this just blew him away as well as the extensive amount of rocks, crystals, minerals that are available at the gift shop. You get to wear a vest, a hard hat and a miners light while riding in on a little train like vehicle which is for safety but also really fun for kids to dress up and ride on.

Really fun tour and very educational. We got lucky and booked the last tour of the day a few hours beforehand and then it sold out. I’d recommend getting tickets in advance, but you could try your luck like we did. They give you an option to get off the ride as soon as you enter the mine in case anyone decides they don’t want to go inside. The guides all seemed very knowledgeable. Josh was our guide and he made the whole experience really fun with a lot of laughs. It was cute to see that kids were given the opportunity to participate and ask questions. Definitely planning on going back in the future!

Been to 2 of the cave tours in the area, and this tour was by far the best tour! Our guide was amazing and actually worked in the mines when he was younger, so had first-hand knowledge and stories to share. You get a light, reflective vest, hard hat and miner tag. The mine train was fun to ride and the tour went at a great pace. I only wish the tour was longer cause I know our guide had even more interesting stories and information that he could have shared. Highly recommend!

We were passing through and a friend suggested we take this tour so we decided to.
You can pay at the desk for the next available tour, but we opted to book online to see what available times were for the day. Very easy to book.
You must show up 30 minutes prior to the tour time to check in. They will give you a safety vest, hard hat and miners lamp to use while you are in the mine. Then you proceed to the train where you get on and straddle a seat for the ride.
The tour takes you about 1800 feet into the mine with two stops along the way. The first stop has about 36 stairs into a big room and the second stop is flat. Learning about the history of Queen's Mine was fascinating and well worth every penny spent. Our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable. He really made the tour that much more enjoyable.
Overall, we would highly recommend taking this tour. There is a gift shop as well as a small museum in the back for you to enjoy. Public restrooms are on site. Well worth the trip to go see!

Really enjoyed this mine tour and recommend anyone doing it while in the area. Our guide was terrific with lots of knowledge and local stories. Riding the rail into the mine was fun. There are stairs to climb within the mine so be aware of that. Take your jacket with you, it's cool in there. The tour was about an hour long. Make sure this is added to your Bisbee itinerary.

this place is awesome! i have grown up visiting commercial and wild caves but have never visited a mine before! the tour was so fun and riding the mine cart through the mine was so exciting! the tour guide was incredible, he told us so many cool things about the mine and his time as a miner there! i visited solo, but will definitely be back in the future with my family! i thought this was such an interesting piece of history, to be able to see it in this way!

1st time ever to Bisbee & the Queen Mine Tour. This tour, the mine & the history is absolutely intriguing & worth the trip. It's nice & cool in the mine which in summer would feel that much better.
You go 1500 feet below the mountain & it's so cool to see & experience a real mine. Our tour guide was Steve who worked in the mines himself back in his days. If you're lucky to get him your visit & experience will be that much better. Steve thank you for making mine & my family's tour the most memorable ever!
Highly recommend a tour, the history, sights, laughs & smells are definitely worth it. I also recommend to get your tickets/reservations advance.

We took the tour on a Thursday morning. All tours for the day were sold out so I’d recommend purchasing at least a day in advance.
Tour was a lot of fun and very informative. Tour guide was a former mine worker and made it very enjoyable. I’d recommend this tour to everyone.

Walk back in time and ride the man-skip 1500 ft. down into the Mines. 1 hour tour and a great experience. Awesome trip, highly recommend and purchase tickets beforehand, in person, online or on the phone. 50,000 people per year visit this place. Great for kids, leave animals at home or in your RV.
Illegal to leave your pets in the car in AZ. People will break your windows for your pets that are left.

Absolutely stunning experience! Would go back for a second tour. The interaction (mine rail ride with hard hats and lights, light walk and climb, make this a memorable visit). Our guide was knowledgeable. I'd recommend going to the $10 museum in town for an hour before the mine ride/visit time. Make sure to show 15 or 30 minutes before departure time.

The mine ride is cool. I was hoping for a deeper ride, but it was. The train ride is fun, and the history is amazing. The work involved and the tools all by candle. Ask for the oldest tour guide. He is old and worked there out of high school, and his experience give is quite a life.

Really interesting tour and I felt safe. You do go in the mine by rail car 1500 ft so they stop the car at 150 ft. To see if anyone wants to turn back, after that point it's no turning back. This is a great tour underground into the world of old time mining. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun and it was all about safety first! This is one of the best tours of a mine I've ever been on. Go for it you will be glad you did.
The notable Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum offers visitors a chance to explore underground mine tours, history exhibits, and a crystal cave. The museum presents accurate information about the town's mining history with well-kept facilities and preserved mining equipment on display. Large print exhibits and thoughtful displays provide an immersive learning experience. Visitors can also browse the gift shop for unique mementos and gifts related to the area's rich mining history.
I have been through the museum twice and two separate occasions, and I plan to go again. From what I can tell, the information presented is accurate. The facilities are well kept. They do a great job preserving the mining equipment on the museum grounds. The exhibits are well done with large print, and thoughtful displays. The gift shop has some nice unique mementos and gifts.

This is a great museum with a lot of history about the mining town of Bisbee. There are a lot of artifacts and specimens of minerals on display. They have beautiful samples of copper, malachite and azurite on display. They have a nice gift shop too. We enjoyed our visit there and we made a purchase in the gift shop too.

Beautiful exhibits detailing a lot of the history of Bisbee. Gorgeous mineral exhibits. Knowledgeable and entertaining staff. Great gift shop full of educational books. The museum itself is also a part of the history, having been the headquarters for the Phelps-Dodge local copper mining and smelting operations. Well worth the $10 admission!

Before our visit, we had no idea of Bisbee's pivotal role in the expansion of the West. It's truly astonishing to discover that Bisbee was once among the largest cities in the Western United States. The museum offers a wealth of knowledge, from its in-depth exploration of union-busting efforts and rich mining history to the surprising number of baseball legends who played in the area. What makes the experience even more unique is the passionate storytelling by volunteer guides, many of whom hail from families that have lived in the area for generations. Their personal anecdotes provide insights you won't find anywhere else. Additionally, the museum boasts an impressive collection of mining artifacts, many of which have been returned by the Smithsonian - a testament to their original significance to this community. The gift shop is a treasure trove in itself, stocked with a wide selection of books and memorabilia that celebrate Bisbee's heritage. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this remarkable museum.

I recommend checking out this museum, especially if you have already done the Queen Mine Tour, there are a lot of displays, pictures and information on the mines of Bisbee, as well as history on Bisbee itself. The second floor has a lot of minerals/rocks on display if you're into geology.
Guillermo Vazquez — Google review
Historic Bisbee if you love old architecture and cool shops as much as I do you'll be in paradise. It gets crowded so weekdays are better. There's limited places to eat unless you go out of the historic area and into the other areas of Bisbee past the copper mine pit, which I highly suggest you visit. This is an active working mine and the locals are authentic and not commercialized like you see in places like Tombstone. It's worth the drive to get there. Make sure you make arrangements for a place to stay in advance!

Well worth $10!
Be on the lookout for the hilarious “miner’s commandments” posted around the upper level of the museum :)
Also- the gift shop is tax free and has very reasonable prices!
The ladies working there were very kind & helpful as well.

Start your visit to Bisbee here to understand the history and significance of this small town. Excellent, well curated, professional exhibits that tell the story of Bisbee both from the point of view of the mining industry to the lives of the residents. Helpful staff and volunteers!

Very fine museum in the former headquarters of Phelps Dodge, owner of the huge mine. History, geology, mining exhibits showing technology development. Beautiful mineral exhibits formerly in the Smithsonian.
Well worth the time and small expense.

This was our favorite part of Bisbee. We learned a lot about its history. Outside of this there wasn't much else to do. Pretty cool the high school diplomas were made of copper considering how big mining for such a precious metal was to this small town.
Chiricahua National Monument is a remarkable 12,000-acre national park in the southern desert of Arizona. The landscape is named after the Chiricahua Apaches and features stunning rock formations made of compacted volcanic ash. This 'sky island' is popular with hikers, campers, and birders alike and boasts a diverse range of wildlife including coatis, javelinas, mountain lions, and black bears.
It's our first time here. Visitor center is just amazing. We really enjoyed our trail so much. Sadly that the campsite was full but that's ok. Highly recommend to come around Feb. I see some snow and cool breeze. Toilet is clean and well maintain . Plenty of parking space.

Beautiful hidden gem! Campground is beautiful and with lots of shade, which is a true blessing in the heat of the summer, which is when we went. If you can go on cooler months, I recommend that, since there are no electrical hookups to turn on the AC (as is typical of most national parks). Great little visitor center. The place has some spectacular sights and formations. Hiking trails are very well marked. Loved this park!

What a uniquely beautiful park. A great day trip from Tucson. Not too crowded either. We hiked the Echo Canyon Loop and it was perfect. The Grottoes were cool and easy to navigate through with glimpses of the rock formations beyond. Truly magnificent

Simply spectacular ! If you are anywhere in Southern AZ do yourself a favor and visit this place . The majesty of the formations and the views are rivaled only by those of the grand canyon . Google reviews lead us to this journey and it worked out perfect so please follow along specially if you are concerned about tackling a trail . My wife and I are in our 50s and we decided to do the Echo Canyon trail down to the Grotto and back . I have to say that it was easier than expected and there were even folks in their 60s and 70s doing this stretch of the trail . It took us about an hour round trip . Make sure and bring water , a camera , and walking sticks if you have balance issues . my wife had a broken ankle a few years ago and she still takes it easy but I bought her a pair of hiking sticks at Costco for $30 and she raved about how easy it was to walk the trails with them . Truly , the pictures don’t do this place justice . There is only one road in and out so no guessing where to go as it is all well laid out and there are signs to guide you along as well . Do not attempt to bring a large RV or travel trailer as the hairpins are tight and the parking is limited . Finally , there are no services out here . No where to buy food , water , or fuel so come prepared . After our hike we drove up to Massai point and parked . When we looked over the edge there was a look out area that was a very short walk down but again , just an amazing view to experience. There is a lot more that we didn’t do but this was enough for us to experience on this day at Chiricahua National Monument.

We have been camping in the Bonita camp grounds since1985 and have returned just about every year. All trails and scenery is just unbelievable. Check at the Ranger station about hiking trailer( time distance ect.) Trails are good but good hiking boots or shoes are needed. I prefer to take a walking stick lot steps and loose rock. WATER! Make you have it. Arizona can very unforgiving! A place you will be talking about for many years

This is an absolutely spectacular park in South Eastern Arizona with an unexpected landscape unlike anything I've seen before. The visitor center has information on the park history and area wildlife as well as detailed hiking guides from easy to strenuous. We took the popular Echo Canyon Loop that gives a great overview of various geologic and environmental points of interest in the park, but there are definitely longer options if you are in the mood to take it to another level.
This park also has amazing dark skies being close the three hours from Phoenix so consider camping out to see some spectacular stars.
Visitor center has flushing toilets and many of the trailheads have pit toilets, but no running water so make sure you are prepared!

Such a cool place, you can even get a little gift for hiking a certain amount of miles and taking a few pictures on the way. Ask the staff about it before going out and hiking. This place is SO FREAKING COOL!!!! It’s awesome! The cool alien rocks, comprised with the unique sky island vegetation make for an unforgettable experience. I hiked to the Natural Bridge, and also did the loop through the Grottoes and Echo Canyon. Lots of elevation gain on both of those, and the Natural Bridge is neat, but nothing super spectacular. Great hikes and a great place, and there was hardly anyone there on a Sunday! I can’t believe this place is free it’s just too cool.

Cool spot to take in. You can drive through, make time for hiking, and even camp. The campgrounds are great! We saw wildlife as well. I’ve heard it’ll become a Nat’l Park. I personally wouldn’t put it at that level of greatness, but it IS a neat place.

What can I say that everyone else hasn't said about Chiricahua NM? If you are in the area, don't think about it...just do it! I loved my trip to this park/monument. It's amazingly beautiful, very nice hikes and wasn't busy since it's a hidden gem. It was well worth the drive and the highlight of my trip to Tucson (besides seeing a friend of mine who was also on the hike). I cannot wait to go back and do some more hiking and sight seeing!

This National park was off the beaten path but worth a visit. I hiked the Rhyolite trail to Hearts of Rocks loop and back, 7.2 miles. This trail was a moderate/easy trail with many interesting views of rock formations. On the loop portion, a beautiful view of the valley can be found. And many interesting traverses thru rock pillars. Definitely bring enough water.

Five stars doesn't cover the awesome factor of this six star park! The geology is gorgeous and as interesting as anything you'd find in a more famous Utah park. The campground is clean, quiet, and easily accessible. The trails are mostly interconnected and guide you through some of the most beautiful terrain in the country. Although out of the way, Chiricahua should be a required detour for everyone on I-10

You can drive high up and get fantastic views from the parking lot, so very accessible to anyone that can get in a car. We packed sandwiches and ate at the picnic tables there. There are plenty of trails, but the half mile loop at the top offers amazing scenery without much difficulty.

Had a great time checking this place out last winter. I had been wanting to visit for a long time and made it out after a visit to Bisbee. Super interesting history and would love to spend a few days hiking and exploring. Just did the drive to the top and walked to a lookout. Need to research and find some cool hikes and if you camp/backpack anywhere close. I would love to go back maybe on the way to NM or Texas some day.

Started at Massai Point. The descent was met with a village of rock formations. It seemed like an nice easy hike. Was able to see cave like structures and hike on snow/ ice capped trails. Very slippery but was able to hug some rocks to get through. I enjoyed the experience.
Dogs unfortunately are not allowed on trails. Hike would have been better with my furbaby . There are bathrooms located in the parking area. There are picnic areas on top of massai point. I did notice an occasional bench to sit on while on scenic walking trail.

Absolutely amazing landscape! It’s worth going out of your way to see. Go to Massai Point to get a view from the top, overlooking the scale of this place. The echo canyon trail provides a nice loop that lets you walk through the monument and see it from the top, the bottom, and right in the middle.

Beautiful place, amazing views of the rock formations from the bottom of the canyon and breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. I could stay here for hours and stare at different shapes of the rock. The Massai point 6870 ft is truly spectacular. A couple of hiking trails from the top and a couple of picnic tables. There are pit toilets at the trailheads. The place is dog friendly but you can take your dog for walk only on Bonita Creek trail .

This hidden gem is perhaps Southeastern Arizona's best kept secret. It's easily my favorite National Monument. Spent the better part of the morning and afternoon exploring this "Wonderland of Rocks!" I was in utter awe of just how beautiful this place is. I was surprised that for much of the day, I rarely saw anyone here. I hiked the Echo Canyon trail down to the Grottes. Great hikes, great views. The campground is full unless you advance. Turn right just before entering the entrance, drive a bit and enjoy cattle country and more solitude in some open camping areas. No RVs. Quiet and peace. Drive back to the entry and enjoy the marvels of nature. My favorite place in AZ.

Fort Bowie National Historic Site offers a fascinating journey back in time to the 1860s when it was established in response to conflicts with the Chiricahua Apache. The 1.5-mile trail leads visitors through violent skirmish sites, ruins, and a cemetery, providing an immersive experience of the area's historical significance. The trek is well worth the effort and allows for exploration of various historical markers along the way.
A unique National Historic Site with friendly and informative staff at the visitor's center (both the ranger and volunteer staff). We enjoyed the hike and roaming around the fort. The site geography meant the fort had a different feel compared to other historic fort sites we've visited.
We appreciated the history as well as the geographic understanding of what made this a key location.
There is ample parking space.

Close to Chiricahua National Monument. It is about a 9 mile drive on a dirt road and the visitor center is a bit of a hike from the road, There are several things to see between the road and the Fort Site. Fort ruins were much larger than I expected. Good information and story for a seemingly forgotten part of our history.
Russell Leier — Google review
Excellent! It is a loop trek. Start off on the ruins trail and taking the ridge trail back (located behind vistor center). This trek takes you through other ruins, cemetery, and other historical markers. Easy, until the moderate ridge trail (loose rocks, incline, and switchbacks).
If you are unable to hike at least 3 miles, you can take the handicap access road. This takes you to the vistor center and fort. To see it all, it can be about 6 miles.
Lots to take in. Count on spending at least half a day. Lots of sun exposure, bring water and check the weather.

Serene but beautiful location of a former fort. It's hard not to imagine the suffering of the prisoners held here (men, women and children). The visitors center is a short hike from the parking lot and the roads coming on are not all paved.
John Espinosa — Google review
I really liked the hike through history on the way to the visitor center. I actually went twice - once alone with our dog to make sure my hubby can do the hike and a second time with the disabled husband. He can walk 2-3miles on flat surfaces, but had a much harder time due to the uneven terrain and up/down. It was hard on his joints. We did the smart thing: I hiked back down solo, he enjoyed the views over the 2nd fort from the porch of the visitor center, I brought the truck around to the maintenance area (it took me 1h) and he walked down to the truck. We had verizon cell service at the visitor center and the maintenance area (but not at the trail head and the trail). Also if you follow the arrow uphill from the visitor center for the return trip: you will get great views, but there is more uphill involved, but is a bit longer than the way up ..... PS the park rangers were very nice and lots of knowledge to share.... very glad we went!!!!

Such a great historic site. It’s a nice long hike not to difficult some of it is up hill. Over all I say I walked about 4-5 miles. Great placard’s along the trail telling you where to go also filled with fun facts. So there is a lot of stopping along the way to read things and catch your breath. The second photo I put is a representation of the elevation change on this hike. You can see the two tall Hills on the left and the right and if you look directly in between the two that smaller little hill is the end of the hike. It’s only like 12 miles off the high way it’s a long strait road with a speed of 45 but there is no one out there so you can push faster then that. Just watch out for the cattle guards along the way.

My advise, wear a backpack! That way, one can take snacks, sandwiches,, extra water, and bring back purchased souvenirs from the visitors center. Allow apprx 2 hours getting to the center, there are so many signs to read about the past historic events and types of vegetation along the trail. Also, it helps to have a good hiking stick for walking support.

An awesome excursion, well worth the effort and time. It was also nice to get away from the “spring break” crowds. The road in is very long and very bumpy, which was concerning for my vehicle. The 1.5 mile hike in and back is definitely worth it, it really gives a feeling for what the place was… an important passageway for many people. Plaques give relevant information along the way. The ranger at the visitor center was so cool, knowledgeable, informative, interesting, and enthusiastic! I did the junior ranger program, as usual, which was fun, and really helped encourage me to go around all of the ruins and think “outside the box” in the visitor center museum. The landscape is also awesome, it is located on a fault line, which actually has displayed all three kinds of fault movement over time (strike-slip, normal, and reverse/thrust.) !

Nice history and well-preserved area. It's 10 miles from town through pecan fields, and the last mile or 2 is a gravel road. It's a 1.5-mile hike from the parking area.

Be prepared to drive on dirt roads for a couple miles. Be prepared to hike on a ruff trail. The drive is beautiful and the fort and visitor center are really cool. A stroller or wheelchair would not make it up the trail. This place is free and you could spend as much time as you want there and even enjoy a picnic lunch.
Spanning 57,000 acres, this area protects river & land wildlife, as well as historical sites.
Spent about a month here in the 1980s volunteering to restore the old historic Safford Morenci Trail. Remote. Breathtaking.

Beautiful area, just a little more annual upkeep is required in carr canyon, ideally the picnic area. The potential for this place is huge. I dont know if the resources are lacking but if they got the canyon cleaned the potential of fires would go down substantially. In recent years they have been clearing large debris and graveling the road which is nice to see. Keep up the great work guys.

This is an exceptionally beautiful place. There are many birds and there is a gift shop and there are picnic areas and historical sites really a wonderful place to go.
But the best thing about / the San Pedro house / that is what we call it here in Cochise County the San Pedro house. The best thing is the hiking here is incredible. It is best to come here in the winter and the spring however I went for a hike in the summer here and if it's not too hot I can be very pleasant. Wonderful place to take photographs wonderful Natural riparian Area. This is a natural River and if you are from a different part of the country it is just a trickle of a stream. But here in Arizona we call this a river. Very pretty scenery. We were actually just on the south side of the highway. The paths make for a nice walk and seeing water in the desert is always a pleasure.
Visitor center isn't open, but the trails are. 5th car in the lot on a Friday at 8:45, by 10 it was full with cars circling for a spot. Word is they are preparing to open soon.
No Trogan, although an employee in the parking lot said they have a resident one. Plenty of birds though.

Ramsey Canyon Trail was a perfect scenic walk with so much to see. We were amazed by the nature - butterflies, caterpillars, lizards, birds, so many different species of trees, bushes, mushrooms, a couple structures - all great photo ops! The trail is mostly shaded. You walk along the running creek mostly the entire time and the sound is beautiful. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Someone did see a rattle snake slide across the trail, so be careful of you've got young children. If you do have kids with you, grab a bingo game card for them - it's a scavenger hunt. When they get back, they get a prize if they got four in a row. Definitely worth $5! Oh, and don't forget to sign the guest book!

I decided to take my little one on a hike this afternoon. Staff was friendly and admission was $5 for adults and free for kids. There were plenty of walking sticks available to use at the visitor center. My toddler and I really enjoyed the peaceful nature walk to the Sycamore point, followed by the steep climb to the top. We were unable to hike all of the way to the overlook point since I wasn't fully prepared with my small hiking backpack. We managed to climb halfway up before my little one had a potty accident. I had extra clothes, but they were in my car, which is why we stopped the hike and returned back to the car. In the future, I will remember to bring an extra outfit and snacks in a small backpack for my little one for future hikes. I did remember to pack my smartphone, beverages, hats, training pants, and bug spray. Fortunately, we didn't have to use any bug spray. Most of the trail is well-shaded so hats aren't necessary to wear. It is definitely worth seeing...a very beautiful hiking place and trails with plenty of deer, squirrels, butterflies, and birds to see. If you are hiking around lunch time or hiking all the way to the overlook point, then I recommend packing a small lunch, especially if you climbed the steep mountain like we did. You will be hungry and thirsty by the time that you reach the top. I heard from a friend that there is an easier alternate trail in order to get to the overlook point that doesn't involve the steep climb of the mountain...maybe we will try to look for that trail on a different visit.

You pay a little to visit these hiking trails, but they have done a really great job of making the conservancy inviting and friendly to wildlife, so totally worth it. Saw deer, frogs, and all sorts of interesting insects on the last hike. Plenty of short, gentle trails for little ones and mature ones, as well as a slightly more challenging overlook to add a bit of workout. Friendly staff and apparently great birding for those who are into that. Highly recommend a visit.

I really enjoyed the nature walk with Dan, he shared some history of the preserve while pointing out birds and plants and other creatures. I got stung by a yellow jacket and the volunteers were very sweet and helpful (I'm perfectly fine). The property is so beautiful, and it was very enjoyable to spend 2 mornings there.

A haven for birders especially in the early spring and mid summer. There are miles of hiking trails and some mountain bike trails and roads. There's something for everyone. The Nature Conservancy's visitor center is cozy. The volunteers are helpful with recent sightings and ideas on where to go.

Outstanding birding area in season. We were a bit early for the full spring experience by several weeks but still nice. Be advised they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A small parking lot with no overflow or street parking so if the small lot is full you will have to leave and come back later. TNC charges admission if you aren't a member.

Beautiful for taking in the fall colors, wildlife, and of course birds. Choose from a short, easy hiking trail, or go all the way to the lookout point, with benches along the way to just sit and observe. Nice gift shop with friendly help. Free parking is limited, but we didn't mind paying to park at the small lodge next door.

Ramsey Canyon is a fantastic place to see a variety of unusual birds. It is well worth the donation to walk this lovely canyon. We were surprised to find how especially beautiful the fall leaves were!

Absolutely beautiful place. The folks who run the visitor's center are welcoming and helpful and the visitor's center has clean restrooms. There is so much wonderful wildlife to see here, including many species of hummingbirds, coatis, deer, frogs and dozens of other bird species, just to name some.
I've been to the preserve several times now and I notice something new every time; whether that be flora or fauna.
The huge turkeys by the grassy areas and hummingbird feeders are also fun to observe.
Entry costs $8 for adults who don't reside within Cochise County and $5 for those who do live within the county. Considering that this place is well maintained with clearly marked trails and that they partner with The Nature Conservancy, I think this is absolutely fair.
The first few photos were taken the day I posted this review, the last autumnal photos were taken in winter of 2022. Autumn and early winter are very popular to take photos of the colorful foliage in Ramsey Canyon. It's advised to come on a weekday because this time is so popular.

A huge shout out to Pete Leiterman for the hike up the canyon today. This has been the best hike of my trip since I left Michigan on 14Dec23.
Thanks again Pete and Michelle.
Allen Street is the historical center of Tombstone, Arizona and a hotspot during its heyday for activity in the Old West. The storefronts on Allen Street are still mostly original and offer a glimpse into the town's past. Some of the notable businesses on Allen Street include saloons, gun shops, and general stores.
We visited here during the week so a lot of the shops were closed which was disappointing. But what was open was the okay corral and that was fantastic. We also did the horse and carriage ride which was relaxing, fun The driver was our tour guide and was very informative as we rode down some of the downtown streets.

I live on Allen Street here in Tombstone Arizona in the old hoptown district that was once ruled by China Mary. The sunsets here are absolutely phenomenal as well as the sun rises.... Come enjoy a weekend or even a day trip to Tombstone Arizona you won't be sorry.... There are so many cool shops here not to mention the restaurants and saloons...
The Bird Cage Theatre is a theater in Tombstone, Arizona that is said to be haunted by the spirits of women who worked there as prostitutes and their clients. It has been reported that over 190 bullet holes remain in the building from historic gunfights. The theater offers nightly ghost tours for guests 12 and older, which are popular with families.
Always a fun experience. Took my daughters on the ghost tour they had a great time. They also have the self guided tour that is cheaper but we enjoyed learning all about the birdcage and tombstone. So much history. Staff is very friendly. Trish knows so much of the history and it is always great to hear everything. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

This is a great museum that is in the original building from 140 years ago. They have a lot of original artifacts from when the building was a Theatre and a brothel. Wyatt Erp went to this establishment. They had a lot of historical information about the town and the different lives of the famous people that lived there.

This was a fun tour! The tours are an hour and a half long, including the 30 minutes darkness time to 'welcome the ghosts to make their presence known'. Our guide, Karen, was knowledgeable, humorous and a delight. Highly recommend this tour. The history of the Bird Cage is interesting and you'll even see evidence of some of the lawlessness from history (1880's bullet slugs in walls and the bar).

The museum is even more exciting because of its original place. It's a real witness of history. The guides have huge knowledge and describe the place in a very interesting way. It's so much to see and feel the spirit of its past time. Only for this museum, I would travel even from Europe which I did a few days ago. It's not only for those who love the Western world but for all history lovers.

Amazing place to hang out and take a guided tour. So much to look at and learn about. It's like going back in time to the late 1800's. Our tour guide was awesome and you could tell she loves her job! 1.5 hours and a great bargain for the history lesson. The amount of original artifacts is mind blowing. You could easily spend a day here and not see everything it has to offer. Very knowledgeable staff. Make sure you use the restroom before going on a tour as there are no public restrooms. It's said to be quite haunted and while we didn't experience much activity the kid had a great time and the lights out period of the tour was really cool! I highly recommend this if you are into history. Great value for the money and one of the coolest things we did while in Tombstone !!!

Must do ghost tour in Tombstone! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and her passion for the history of the building and the town was contagious. The O.K. Corral is a historic site that offers reenactments of the famous gunfight between Wyatt Earp and his brother Virgil. It is also haunted by the cowboys and law enforcement officers associated with the event.
Tombstone is known for this very spot, so it's obviously a must if you come to Tombstone. It's free to go inside the main shop but you have to pay $10 per person to explore the back courtyard and stables and the main draw: the staged gun fight. There are a few areas in Tombstone to see staged gun fights, but this one is by far the most recommended based on the fact that it's the OG and happens at the actual O.K. Corral, even the locals stated that. Go early that way you don't miss the show, as they are known to sell out especially during peak seasons and weekends. The gun fight is about 20 - 30 minutes and very entertaining, audience participation is encouraged like applauding the deputies and booing the cowboys for an added comical touch and they all have fun with it. Pictures with the actors are welcomed after the show which always makes the little kids go crazy. The staff inside the store are fun to talk with and very nice. Also, for fans of the movie (which I'd assume most everyone visiting Tombstone to begin with probably are), there are some props inside the store to read up on and admire. Prices inside the gift shop are on par with most everything else in Tombstone, though they do also have some exclusive merchandise being that they're the actual O.K. Corral. Overall, very fun and highly recommended.
Cody P — Google review
The actors use some humor when doing their thing. They do present some of the history that led up to the shooting, and a little on the Earp family after that. Enjoyable to be sure. We've seen it twice. Your ticket also gets you into a history presentation on Tombstone itself, which is well worth the small price. Gives you a much better appreciation for Tombstone and old Western history.

This is a great show and it is very entertaining. The actors are funny and friendly too. We were so glad we went to the show. It was totally worth it. They have a nice setting with several buildings with written historical facts. They also have authentic photographs and artifacts from tombstone and the OK Corral. There is a blacksmith on the grounds selling his wares. They have a large gift shop and a small movie theater too. We enjoyed our visit.

A fun show with some clever lines. Deliberately campy and lots of laughs. The bad guys are the best. The Sam Elliot- like character who played Virgil's a bit wooden, but overall quite entertaining for all ages. Our party ranges from age 2 to 70 and we all enjoyed it. The Vincent Price-narrated diorama/ movie was cleverly done. See pic of the instructions you are given. Gift shop was touristy but our grands enjoyed getting a pop gun or two.

It was a pretty short but engaging reenactment. Get to walk through some history on the premises as well. You $10 per adult buys you a range of experiences not just the reenactment.
They try to keep the majority of the audience in the shade. Three different times there is "gun fire" FYSA in case you have a little one or veteran sensitive to noise.

Worth the time and money for a perspective of American history! Tombstone has a lot going on for a day trip/overnight trip. I was glad to see the whole act. Lots of history, photographs, and spaces to explore. Definitely shown in the perspective of white americans as the great fighters of the west... Ignoring the fact that their American history contains all of today's Americans.... Showed Native americans as the ('enemies') bad guys and as though they aren't Americans and no mentions of any Black or Mexican Americans. Oh well...but who knew the o.k. corral was real!?! Sick! Thanks for the fun show!

ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED! I watched this show last week. I was expecting something shorter and simpler but it turned out to be very well staged and produced. 4 handsome, elegant, slim lawmen against the overweight outlaws. Excellent performances from all actors. Considerate amount of dialogue as well - to give you the context of the actual gunfight. The American Southwest is magic! Don't miss Tombstone. In memory of my late father, western film fan back in Greece - Christos Petropoulos (1931 - 2009).

The Boothill Graveyard is a notorious cemetery in Tombstone, Arizona that holds the graves of many people who committed crimes in the Old West. The name of the cemetery is derived from those killed while wearing their boots in gunfights - meaning they were fighting to the death.
Interesting place to visit especially if you know the history or at least enjoyed the movies. Very rustic, historic cemetery with a reasonable entry fee (cash only, ATM in gift shop) and excellent visitors guide. Only downside is that it's all gravel and dirt on an incline so not really wheelchair friendly, or safe for those with balance issues.
Liz Waddle — Google review
This is worth the $3 entrance. The booklet comes with the entrance fee & has the stories behind each grave. It’s well kept and interesting to walk through. The gift shop is very nice as well, with a sweet clerk to welcome everyone.

Foothill Graveyard: I enjoyed the gift shop more than the graveyard. The graveyard seemed as if it the gravestone markers were all made around the same time, which made me skeptical as to if the information on them was accurate. I am not saying they are not accurate, but the feeling it gave me. My problem is I've been to graveyards in other places, such as Bodie and they leave this one bland.
I still suggest you go. It completes the visit to Tombstone and the cost is minor. Get it "Minor", at $3 a person to enter the graveyard. Parking is free.
I gave it 4 Star's due to the gift shop.
The graveyard is 3 stars.

Boothill Graveyard lives! I mean Boothill Graveyard is a real place.
I knew of this place as a child. Television shows of the Wild West told me so. The gunfight at the O.K. Corral reaffirmed Boothill is a special place where cowboys are buried with their boots on. However I didn’t see this site for myself. More than 60 years later, I traveled to Tombstone and rode along Route 80 to Boothill.
On the outskirts of Tombstone, not far from the Tombstone Grand, you’ll see the graves of an interesting bunch of cowboys and others forever resting in peace.
I paid $3 for a chance to confirm all that I learned from Hollywood movies and TV on the history and inhabitants of Boothill.
Once I entered through a small building, I saw what on first sight looked like gravesites with tombstones. As I looked around among the eleven rows, I found the resting place of John Heath. His death in 1884 was from hanging. Heath’s death stood out among “the residents” of Boothill. From the paragraph in the brochure, John Heath’s death reads: “Taken from county jail and lynched by Bisbee mob, Feb.22, 1884. He was called the leader of the five men who were legally hanged and was said to have planned the robbery. He was hanged from a telegraph pole a short distance west of the courthouse.” Some of the tombstone descriptions were mildly amusing such as that of Lester Moore: “Here lies Lester Moore, Four slugs from a .44, No les, no more.”
You may ask yourself, “Is this all real?” These are amusing gravestones in maybe an off kilter sense of humor way. I was left with wondering about the character and personalities of these folks from the Old West especially the large number of them under their tombstone that reads, Unknown. They lie for an eternity and will be visited often by strangers like myself.

Visiting Boothill is like stepping back in time.So much history is buried there,it is a fascinating place to visit and a must do if you are visiting Tombstone. You will receive a pamphlet with a layout of the cemetery when you arrive that lists the names on all the graves and a summary as to how they died and on some a history of how they lived, this was achieved by the families of the deceased giving the information to the owners of the cemetery.I highly recommend that you visit if you are in the area.

If you have kids they will get a kick out of it. If your a visitor who has never seen a real ghost town cemetery you'll enjoy this place. It's costs money to get in and it is mostly fake. Just keep that in mind. For us, it was a waste of time and money. Don't get me wrong........it's worth it for most people. For an idea of how cheap life was in this mining town the Graveyard is worth the price. A map showing who is where and what caused their demise. I recommend you visit the Graveyard and look for yourself. Just who was bad or good often depends on who’s telling the story.

What a piece of history! It's like stepping back in time. When you visit the legendary Tombstone, Arizona, you have to check out Boot Hill Graveyard. There's a John Heath there, he was apparently lynched by a mob in 1884, but we haven't found any direct relation. ) This is one of those bucket list places that if you can find time to get there, it's worth the nostalgia.

A tourist trap in its tackiest form. Yes, there are some very interesting characters, buried here, but the fact that you have to pay to visit a graveyard and can only exit through a gift shop really rips the il west spirit out of the experience. When we left, I felt like I had purchased a used car.

If you go to Tombstone I feel like you need to see Boothill Cemetery. It's only $3 per person to get in, and you're given a little information booklet about all the graves there. We spent close to an hour here, though we prioritized the more famous and unique graves. Some people could spend less or more time here and still feel like they got what they wanted out of their visit. The reviews that dismiss this place as "fake" irritate me - this is a real graveyard that houses the final resting place for many of Tombstone's founding and famous citizens. This place definitely has a tourist attraction touch to it, hence some of the occasional more comical tombstones (which is most of what these reviews are referencing), but they're still real graves, and you're still expected to be respectful when you visit.
This hike is beautiful. If you are hiking from the east side, it is a little over 3 miles to the top. It is a climb up.... but nothing too crazy. Wonderful views and several stream crossings. If you go over the divide to the west trail head, it will add about 1.75 additional miles to your outbound trek. It is a steep climb from the west back to the top.

Very pretty. “Closed for the season”. Don’t know what that meant but we hiked around and found the plant identification trail. That was great. The road is rough. Not for RVs or very low cars. You will cross several “creeks”. It had rained the 3 days prior so there was some water in them. Saw a few deer. I can understand how Cochise could keep people safe there. Crazy terrain. TAKE LOTS OF WATER on the hike. If you have dogs, on leash should be observed.

Very scenic. The road going in is rough, so be prepared, but it is well graded. A creek runs throughout the area so don't drive here if it has recently rained or the road is flooded in several spots. The campground is small and well maintained. Not suitable for large rigs. There are choices if walking trails. One is a concrete walkway trail, about .25 miles long with information kiosks and lovely views. There are also concrete walls with sitting areas. Great for anyone with walking challenges. The Nature Trail begins to the left of the restrooms with a monument to Cochise and a pretty walking bridge spanning the creek. The trail is easy but has steps so not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers. It is beautiful! Off of that trail is a much longer trail that I am told is 5 miles round trip but is very challenging with steep grades. We saw a lot of couples with dogs hiking. Lots of history lessons here.

We rented the Shaw House for two nights. The house has three bedrooms - one with a double bed, one with a double futon and one with two sets of bunkbeds with full size beds on the bottom. There are two additional futons in the living room so it can sleep a lot of people. There are two bathrooms each with a shower. The weather was nice so we didn't need the space heaters or fans. We spent a lot of time outside. During the day we moved our camping chairs to shady areas and at night we sat at the picnic table and around the fire ring where we roasted marshmallows. Wood was provided and can be used in the indoor fireplace or outside. There is also a propane grill. The house had a broom, mop and shop vac hidden away in the closet. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with plenty of plates, silverware and lots of pots, pans and kitchen utensils. There aren't many coffee mugs so bring your own if you need more than a couple.

A wonderful hike! 11 miles total to the other side and back. The elevation was not to terrible. The high climb was on the way back from the west side back to the middle trail. Very scenic and beautiful. There could of have been better trail and distance markings on each side of the trail head. It would of been nice to see some paper maps too. Over all a beautiful, clean, and adventurous hike.

Cochise Stronghold is the final resting place of the Apache Warrior Cochise who history records gave the Confederate Army the bloodiest fighting recorded in US history. Cochise's story actually begins in the Dragoon Mountains where he evaded captured and was responsible with his band of warriors for the death of four soldiers as recorded on the photos.
The Stronghold itself is a very beautiful place lush with an abundance of foliage, trails, picturesque monuments and a canopy in the fall that overlaps the entire park. This place is an amazing place to go for a visit. Thank you to the US Park Service for keep this Landmark beautiful and for Protecting the History it represents.

It's exactly what it's supposed to be a tourist spot. Signs in both directions for 100 miles telling you to stop. Always make it sound interesting. 55 60 years ago my father refused to stop here because he said it wasn't worth the money. I finally stopped 40 years ago once married. It's a good break from the highway good place to stretch your legs. It's obviously changed since my most recent stop last week. Rather bizarre storytelling along the walls now about aliens versus predators. Kind of like a fancy comic book reading. Some pretty nice old vehicles on site to take a look at. The thing is what it is....a thing😁. Souvenir site available dairy Queen on site. Like I said a good place to stop stretch your legs walk through and read and take a look at everything they have to offer.

It was decent for the price. It was 5$ a person or 10 for a family. They had exhibits about the aliens dinosaurs and cars. It wasn’t very interactive so you couldn’t touch anything. The thing received a major update a couple years ago, so if you’ve been in the past, it is worth a revisit as it is a totally different experience. This is what every roadside America attraction should be: strangeness with a diversion from the road. Admission is five dollars per person or $10 per family so it is very affordable the gas is higher price than surrounding stations.

It may sound crazy but we loved this place. The Thing is a cross between history museum and conspiracy theory showcase. It was very informative and fun to "move through history". The little ones loved the dinosaurs and aliens. Totally worth the price of admission, which is pretty low.

Wow is all I have to say! I found this hidden gem on a work trip and I kept seeing signs for 100’s of miles about the thing! I was intrigued from the get go and waiting to get gas until I got to this gas station! Upon pulling up I knew it was going to be a fun filled gas station! They sold everything you could think of and even had fireworks! There is a museum there with so many amazing items to see and the high light at the end with the thing being showcased! I can’t say when I’ll be back to this location but I can say if I ever pass by here again it will for sure be a stop that is required on my route! I suggest everyone stop by here to see the sites for themselves! Bravo on advertising and keeping people away for hundreds of miles!!!

There is an exhibit that ends with "the thing" and a really great gift shop. It also has a gas station and a Dairy Queen restaurant, but it closes at 7pm, so get there before sunset. Definitely a must see stop!

Best experience at a gas station ever. Everyone needs to visit the THING. A fantastic eye opening example of a history of things that might have been. For $5 you can't beat it. It's a wonderful experience for everyone. I only wish I had more time to read all the posters they had through our the exhibit.
Will not disappoint!

This place was pretty interesting we went through the museum got some pretty cute pictures. The theory is interesting as well. They have a big shopping area all of the employees there and at the DQ were very very nice. They have truck parking on the side which worked out great for us.

Was driving across country from Las Vegas, Nevada to Florida. And stopped in here checked it out. Did the little museum tour? It was a lot of fun? Very friendly stuff, definitely recommend stopping and checking it out.

There's a gas station, bathroom, gift shop and convenience store, so everything you need during a road trip
The Thing Museum is very cheap even for a family. It's super quick to go through and very fun, definitely worth a stop

I was not very excited to stop but you only live once. First I was blown away by the friendliness of the staff. Shannon was so much fun! I have never had so much fun paying to see an attraction. She had us laughing! The attraction was very well done! The prices for the items in the gift shop are extremely reasonably priced.
Kartchner Caverns State Park is a vast limestone cave system showcasing living rock formations. It has been in existence for over five million years but remained undiscovered until 1974. The location was kept secret for another 25 years to prepare it for public viewing. The park offers two equally impressive guided tours, each lasting about 90 minutes.
Visited 02/24/22 while kids were out of school for Rodeo break! Very fun and informative tour. The visitors center was very nice as well. They have a restaurant on site if you feel the need. Make reservations online because the tours fill up fast. Definitely worth the $money$ and roughly a 30 minute drive from Tucson. Enjoy!

I remember visiting here a very long time ago. The cavern is basically the same thanks to thoughtful preservation efforts 👌. The tour was lovely. We had a great tour guide. He shared his "cave humor" and he obviously has a great passion for the caverns. This is a DO NOT MISS when in the area. We'll worth that $20-ish ticket. You must make reservations and the tours fill up fast so vest to plan ahead for this adventure.

Loved the tour. The caverns are a gem and should be a must see for arizona attractions. That they have kept the integrity of the caves and still made it wheelchair accessible is unbelievable. What a treasure.

The caverns are absolutely stunning inside. They have incredible rock formations. They have Stalactites and stalagmites and columns and soda straw formations and more. The colors are beautiful too. Unfortunately, you can NOT take your cell phones in the caverns, so you can not take any pictures inside the caverns. The inside of the caverns is like being on another world or another planet. They have lockers that you can store your items in until after the tour. They also have a great museum with a lot of history and artifacts. There is a gift shop too. We were very glad we visited.

Lovely gardens and paths around park.
We did the rotunda cavern. Rich, our guide was fun...the caverns were spectacular. One sees the glory of God in his work underneath.

Another beautiful Arizona State Parks. I recommend doing both cave tours, Rangers took their time, answering questions, and being very aware of how important it is to maintain these gorgeous caves.
I stayed in a cabin for 2 nights, it is very comfy, and has a refrigerator and microwave. It was chilly out, I stayed nice and warm in the cabin. Very clean cabin and adjoining restrooms across the road.

So amazing!! We were told at the entrance no more tours and went into the park and discovered the gate gal incorrect! You can get a tour by walking in. It is probably better to assure a tour if you book online. But they do have wonderful tours throughout the day. They stop the cave tours for the bat breeding. Reopening in October. It's all on line and explains all the different things to do there. It's worth every effort to see it. No cameras, phones, etc. Enjoy!!

Arizona has wonderful state parks & campgrounds. We loved Kartchner Caverns State Park. We had a spacious site with full hook-ups and was located on the end - no neighbors on our door side! Site #11 is the best! We had mountain views. It was very quiet. Our site was clean and raked. Rangers were helpful and guided hikes were offered. There were a number of hiking trails which provided elevated views of the area. The caverns are worth seeing. We went on one of the tours offered. It was interesting!

Nice park with RV campground, Caverns and hiking trails. Beautiful views all around. The RV park is nice and clean , spots are paved with picnic tables and a fire pit. Only water and electricity no sewer connection. Beautiful view, quiet, Verizon and T mobile services are very weak. There is park WiFi.

This was my second visit and enjoyed it as much if not more than my first! Erika was a Phenomenal guide and enjoyed her job immensely. The tour was exciting to see you again with all the different formations in history of the park.

Went there for the hiking - great experience. All the trails are moderate difficulty with only a few spots where you have to work around some of the larger rocks. For the Guindani trail, it was recommended to go counterclockwise, you follow the wash and it starts off harder, but is very beautiful and then the second half is much easier.

Camping at the campground is a delight for a few days. They provide a nice modern place to camp. Hookup includes water and electricity a picnic table, fire ring and paved driveway.
The visitors center has a good number of displays and extensive explanations of the caves. There is a movie about the history and discovery of the ancient caverns. Admission to the two caves is affordable and they are spectacular!
In addition there are a number of well marked hiking trails to explore and the park is close enough to Benson for fuel and anything else that you need.

What an amazing adventure! Camping at the grounds was great. Water, electricity, a table and firepit are provided, and the space is pretty huge. Bathrooms are large and clean, with showers separate from the toilet stalls. There was fire wood in our firepit, which was a great surprise as we thought we needed to go out to buy some, but didn't have to. DO THE CAVE TOUR! Our tour guide, Cody, was amazing, funny and informative. We were only able to do the Rotunda-Throne Room, but will definitely come back to do the Big Room. The Visitor Center is a MUST, but also check out the Bat Cave Cafe (the tamales were surprisingly great) and Hummingbird Garden.

Didn't go into the caverns but had a great time hiking the Ocotillo trail around the area. Trail was engaging and safe, weather was perfect! Definitely would recommend, day parking was $7 without the AZ State Park annual pass.

I had a great experience exploring the cave with the $23 standard tour. The tour guide was funny and engaging. I was just disappointed we couldn’t take photos even with a cell phone and no flash. To take photos you needed a special $125 ticket for tours the third Saturday of each month.

Loved the tour of the Rotanda and Throne Room where kubla Khan is so much that we decided to stay another day and see the Big room which we were very glad we did. Our guide for the Big Room was a Ranger named Max and she was so knowledgeable and quite funny.

Very peaceful campground. Easy to walk trails, dog friendly. The water pressure was low, @ 30 psi, we filled our tank and used our onboard pump. Cell service was good enough to stream, T-Mobile hot spot and Verizon phones. Take the tours, they are well done. The visitors center has a short film and a museum. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We had a pull thru site with a 32 foot fifth wheel and had plenty of room. We will be back to enjoy the peaceful scenery.

This place is great. When you enter the tunnels you will go through multiple door systems to lock out the dry desert air.
These create a very cool feeling entering different parts of the underground areas. You will see blasted tunnels and the amazing natural cave system.
Highly recommend.

What an amazing park! The care people take in preservation of the cave is really striking! The cave really is a magical place! The visitor’s center and museum are amazing and fun for kids! Junior ranger program is a bit challenging, but fun! We were not able to secure RV camp spot on their campground - RV road trip during Easter week. But we were able to stay on their ginormous overflow parking lot overnight ! 15$, no gates, pay station with envelopes or pay in am when rangers come in. The overflow parking lot is very big and you can find a secluded corner.
Cafe on premises is really minimal. Highly recommend visiting this park! Unfortunately no pictures allowed inside the cave.

My husband and I took the Rotunda/Throne Room tour. The formations are absolutely spectacular!! We were in awe and totally enjoyed viewing the beautiful, amazing, and large number of different types of formations. I am a photography buff and would loved to have taken photos but of course we read the rules and knew ahead of time that photos are not allowed. Believe me, photos would not do Kartchner Caverns justice!! You have to see it with your own eyes. A special detail is that the caverns is entirely wheelchair accessible! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting details. We are from the East Coast originally and have seen Luray Caverns, which does not have the variety of formations that Kartchner has. I highly recommend that everyone experience this beautiful and magical place. Water is truly an amazing force of nature.
Such a lil gem to find that is such a relaxing and wonderful place to visit. Nice little benches and chairs under a covered overhead shelter. Trees galore and hummingbird feeders in sight for viewing the multiple species. Lots of birders around with cameras and binoculars. The docents were knowledgeable and helpful. We arrived when they were putting out new bird feed. They were standing around and giving info on the varieties to be seen and where they were located.

This is a cute area near a wash to go birding. There is a one mile trail nearby (with trees and shade and stuff) and it looked like other birders were just wandering the wash to spot birds. The nature center is currently closed due to Covid restrictions but I look forward to going back some time. The highway all the way out there is blooming with wild sunflowers right now (September) and it's so pretty. I was able to see birds, squirrels, javelinas, and butterflies.

Amazing place to see hummingbirds! You will be amazed at how many beautiful creatures you will see. Expect to spend a couple hours here taking in the all that there is to see including an easy walking path. There is no admission fee but donations are very much appreciated (the nectar consumed on a daily basis and overall upkeep requires us to all do what we can/if we can). Enjoy, it is one of my fav places to just chill out!

Had a great time on a short visit. Was there in the heat of the summer. Loved the gardens, saw a lot of hummingbirds, and several others of the local birds.
Loved the signage of the history and on the birds you may see.
Did a short hike beyond the gardens, went for a short bit and came back. Saw a deer running off in the woods. Would love to come back in cooler weather.

Very large outdoor area. Good for nature walks, but not great for birding. We didn't see any birds we don't normally see in our own backyard. The most interesting thing we saw was a bright red dragon fly.
We were told we were there during the worst hours of the day (about 2 pm). They didn't tell us what the best hours would be.
The place is not easy to find and only has 4 parking spaces.
The good thing is that it's free, but they do accept donations.
We come every year to enjoy the apples and have a great family trip. The kids have amazing time. The food is tasty and the service is up to our expectations. Will recommend to others for sure.

There is a variety of apples and fruit to pick yourself or you can purchase apples already picked in the front. The store is quaint and has lots of knick knacks to pick from. The apple cider donuts and fudge are amazing! However, I was extremely disappointed in their apple pie. The crust was more on the savory side and stuck to the pie tin ( I bought both the precooked & frozen ), the apples were too tart ( should have used a better apple variety ), I think Marie Callenders frozen pies taste way better! But the overall experience going with the kids was great, we had lots of fun.

We come to Apple Annie’s twice a year, once in the summer and once in the fall. We make a family day of it and always have such a great time. We usually visit both locations, and we take full advantage of any activities going on. This time we made for the last day of the Peach Extravaganza. We picked some peaches & apples. Then of course we took our semi-annual pictures in “The Big Red Chair’. Then we also made a stop at the Bakery and bought a few delicious and unique goodies. Then it was off to the U-Pick Veggie location. We picked up some delicious tomatoes, zucchini and a nice watermelon. Oh and I can’t forget the absolutely delicious honey sticks, those are an absolute must have. Apple Annie’s is a guaranteed day of family gun and delicious treats.

Went 2nd week of October for some apple picking but all apples were all picked when we get there. But nobody informed us when we arrived in the area. After looking around the orchard we decided to buy the pre picked apples and spent $24. Drove a bit for their produce location to get some fresh vegetables and spent another $30 for some veggies and small pumpkins.

SOOOOOOO worth the 3 hour drive from Phoenix!! Was surprised with a trip down to Apple Annie’s for my birthday (all I wanted to do was go Apple picking) and it was amazing!
We loved getting to pick delicious apples (which we made 4 bomb Dutch apple pies out of and still has so many apples leftover!) and then having some classic cheeseburgers for lunch with warm apple pie a la mode! Can’t forget the apple cider donuts. And picked up a strawberry rhubarb jam that I’m obsessed with!
Definitely easy to spend all your money here! ;) But we thankfully saved some money to head on over to the pumpkin patch where we picked beautiful peppers, pumpkins, spaghetti squash, the most delicious beets ever and ENORMOUS sunflowers! And only $10 for 6 giant flowers?? I was like a kid in the candy shop I was so happy. It was a truly beautiful day!

I've been coming here since I was a kid in the 80s, back when the veggie farm was called Hunsden Farms. I've been bringing my kids since my first was a baby. We love this place.
Rustic atmosphere with very knowledgeable staff. Nice selection of wines. Really liked the way the tastings are presented. Muffin pans with a little cereal or chip pairing.
A suggestion would be to have coffee drinks for the designated driver. Maybe a keurig machine? Or an espresso drink I would gladly pay for.

Absolutely love this place! It’s all about the vibe; cute couches, live music, and the most absolutely lovely hosts! I liked the red varietals myself, others in our group preferred the Sauvignon Blanc. We had a reservation for a big group and even tho we arrived late, they were accommodating and happy to see us and had our couches all prepared for us in a prime spot. They had multiple big groups and multiple special occasions happening all at the same time, and accommodated all of us with smiling faces and good humor. AND we had multiple nurses and were asked every time we went up to order if we had nurses or first responders in our group and they were conscientious to give the discount to each order and even extended it to each member of the group! We love you!

I love AZ Hops & Vines. First and foremost, the wine is always delicious. It's a great place to take your friends to sip wine, snack on cheese, enjoy the gorgeous views, and soak in the sun outside. They pair their wine with a snack chip or even dry cereal to enhance the flavors. I discovered that Arizona produces some amazing wine, and I've been on a search for 10 years to make sure that I find and taste it all. I can't wait to see you all again soon!

My boyfriend and I went here today on a recommendation from friends. It was a gorgeous drive and this winery is the most quirky, unpretentious winery you can imagine. We shared a tasting flight before each having a glass of our own. We even left with a bottle to enjoy next weekend. There is a gorgeous peacock lounging in the open area out back, along with other wonderful animals to admire as you sip wine and enjoy the amazing view. Have I mentioned that everyone we interacted with there was friendly, inviting, and clearly loving being there? Well they were. This is already a place we plan to return to.

Very fun place for most friends to gather and try wine paired with junk food. I always stop here each time. However, most wine is pretty bad (the pairings are also so-so compared with a bunch of other junk food pairing wineries I've visited). At their price points, I'd rather buy from other establishments and save the bottles for other Arizona tasting rooms. I love the birds and vibe. I was sad to see that the mulled wine/glewein was crossed from the tasting menu and sold separately this holiday.

Great, GREAT, wines! Fun atmosphere and unique pairings! They had everything from BBQ chips to cocoa puffs to hot Cheetos, cute and fun twist on the normal pita chips. Out back they have areas for kids, several small patio type setups, and lots of animals to see! We saw several ducks, a couple of sheep, a goat, and a peacock. They had a fun idea where you can write a letter and seal it forever in their iron made heart box out in front, cute! The gal was super nice and very knowledgeable about all their wines. Also smoking deal if you bring your own glass, $5 for 5 wine tastings. Loved the women positive artwork, the sisters that own the winery have done a great job with decorating! Just loved it here.

Very nice AZ State Park, located about 3 hours South of Phoenix. They have many campsites, and or cabins for lodging. The lake is very large and scenic. There is also a beachfront for swimming. Trails for hiking and it’s known as a popular birding spot. The marina has boat rentals and fishing supplies. The park also has a market/convenience store for last minute items as well as ice, drinks, food items and souvenirs. We have camped here twice in a camper and recently stayed in a cabin. Nice lake and beautiful area of the state. The cabin was nice enough but do yourself a favor and stay at the inn in Patagonia. It's the same price. I say this because the cabin was $120 a night, including shower and bathrooms. However apparently the bathrooms and showers have been closed for months with no ETA on when they'll be repaired. Also, the porta potties were near over flowing. Wasn't a pleasant experience. But such a beautiful area.
I will say that Deb at the visitor's center was awesome. Such a nice person, very attentive and kind.

My husband and I took our daughter for the first time and brought a paddle board and kayaks. We all had a wonderful time. There were many families there with children of all ages. It is a calm lake with restrictions on power boats and other motorized vehicles like jetskis, so there are no worries about being in the water. It has a nice beachy area where kids were building sand castles and places to grill. My husband also pointed out cabins in walking distance to stay overnight if you want. For a public area, it was well maintained, and there were a lot of trash cans, so it was easy to make sure it stayed clean. Wonderful place to spend the day or weekend.

Patagonia is a great place to spend the day or camp for a few days. They have cabins you can rent if you don't own an RV and you aren't a tent person. They also have boats you can rent at the marina store from pontoon boats, power boats, small engine 2 person fishing boats, row boats, and canoes. Or of course you can bring your own. There are two different boat ramps to drop your floating palaces in the water and plenty of parking around them. The area is very scenic and beautiful with hiking trails as well. There's a designated no wake zone for swimmers and boats without a motor. The lake also has on lake restrooms that you can dock at or swim to. It can be an inexpensive day trip or a pricier camping weekend depending on what you plan to do. Of course there is also plenty of fishing and all around fun for the entire family. This is definately one of my favorite weekend/day trip getaways during the summer. I highly recommend you check it out!

It's a beautiful place it's just their drawing is very misleading. We picked a cabin close to the restrooms but they don't tell you that you have to go down this steep hill to get to the restrooms. I'm 76 years old and getting up in the middle of the night tracing down a gravel path to go to the restroom is not for me persome of the cabins had portable bathrooms outside but not our cabin and I don't know why. It's a beautiful place the scenery is gorgeous the cabins were nice and clean and everyone around there was very nice.

Kayaking: Started out at the boat launch outside the store, paddled to the west side of the lake by the spillway. Saw water birds, boaters, anglers and families on the shore with kids in the picnic areas. Also spotted some cows. Lots of parking. Parked my vehicle up the hill and walked back to the kayak both to unload and load the kayak. Pretty local lake. $20 fee on the weekend, $15 during the week. There is a visitors center that is informational with books, maps, suvinors and helpful staff. The visitors center also provides hiking trail information and paper handout trail maps. Camped for the weekend, site 75. It was fantastic! Sites are a little closer together than I prefer, but 73 & 75 looked like some of the bigger ones and back up to the day use beach area, so no one camping behind you. Short walk to the beach, which was great for kids, lots of shade to kick back and watch/relax. Skunks were kinda fun in the evenings, just stay out of their way. Clean restrooms and showers. Visitor center and market were both great. Lots of cool areas to explore and hang out. Would definitely go back.

This park is kind of remote. Not much to do if you don't boat or bird. This is a big birder park. Took the bird boat tour which was nice, $7 each. This is the first of 7 AZ state parks we've been to in last 2 months that had state park police. Just one but still better than the rest. Took the Sonoita hike. You have to register for a permit to hike there so the rangers know how many people to look for if you get lost. River was too high and fast to ford due to recent rains so we had to turn around and come back. Don't camp by the visitors center because that is the tent area and they are very noisy. Fortunately they have police here. There is a mini mart here, not much, almost nothing fresh, and expensive. Also sell gas. $3.62 when it is $2.89 back by I10 but I filled up because there isn't another gas station for 30 miles.

Beautiful scenery and well trained horses. Along with great friendly staff and very friendly dogs that greet you with cute faces in search of belly rubs. Ron the owner is awesome such a kind hearted person and understanding of others who are new to riding and very helpful to ensure their safety and the horses safety as well. Ron and Trina make a family of you while you are here and after! There are no words for the beautiful scenery, you have to experience it for you yourself! Horses are my love, yet, everything about these rides touches your soul! I stayed there and experienced 3 meals a day with lovely people, a soul bound for those who need one! I came on a whim, the history of not just Tombstone, but the calling of those who lived well before that!
Book your stay asap, if you are searching! The most incredible place on earth

Still smiling from this wonderful experience! Beautiful, well cared-for horses on acres and acres of lush desert landscape. Fun trail ride, the walk was easy for beginners, but still interesting and relaxing for experienced riders… There were a few small hills that were fun to go up and down! The owner and his team regard safety as number one, and make the experience enjoyable as well, with their interesting conversation and fun jokes. The horses’ coats were absolutely glistening, and they were very well behaved. You could tell not only were they trained well, but they are loved. Riders are matched to their horse by energy- genius! It worked out beautifully. If you are using a Groupon, don’t forget to bring cash to tip per person on the regular price and remember to pay sales tax on top of that. It’s worth it!! We are going back 🤗

An absolutely wonder experience. Ron and his staff were wonderful, warm and friendly. Horses were well trained, and patient. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a real, not commercial, horse riding experience, this ranch is what you are looking for. Friendly cowboys, friendly horses.

We had a fantastic time with Double R Ranch! Ron and his staff are incredible hosts and guides!
I rode a majestic horse named Romeo, all the horses in our group were professionals.
I recommend Double R to anyone, 10/10 experience!

This place was amazing. I do not normally write reviews even though I’m very adamant about reading them but this place deserves all the praise. They were kind hearted people with all intent to please their guests. The help was super kind and very knowledgeable. We went on the sunset ride with a great tour guide who led us into the beauty of Arizona. They seemed to pair us with all the right horses as well. I rode bright eyes, which is only six and she was definitely curious as to what the world had out there and loved to snack. I tried to take charge till she hypnotized me with those eyes and I couldn’t resist to just let her have a snack or two along the trail. Other than her love for snacks she was perfectly behaved and a pleasure to ride. On our return she gave me hugs and snuggles as I thanked her for giving me the joy of riding her. We came back to dinner which was fantastic with great company of fellow riders, the cook, and our lovely tour guide. I think that is the best apple pie I have ever had in my life. I would recommend this place to any of my friends and family and will definitely be back for more of their services. Thank you so much for a fabulous experience and thanks for having us on your beautiful piece of property, I can’t wait for my next trip out there!

The whole experience was fantastic. The horses were all super well-behaved, and my siblings had a great time riding a horse for their first time! The ranch hands were super helpful and nice. Definitely tip them for their kind courteous service when you go! The animals are all well taken care of and just super sweet! The owner and his wife are also fantastic and we’re super nice and accommodating! My baby sister has diabetes, and they had no issues with her taking her snacks with her! They accommodated us every step of the way! Highly recommend this wonderful experience!

A group of friends and I recently went, our first time riding on a horse staff were kind and explained how to ride the horse properly. We did the 90 minute ride and I must say it was worth it! All the staff were friendly and customer service was great! I highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back!

We went to ride horses and found so much more. Family style (delicious) meals with the owners and wranglers, a cozy cottage, and a complete lack of light or noise pollution. Ron and Trina were attentive and engaging. We practiced our Spanish with Billy and our sarcasm with Pancho. They shared their passion for the animals, knowledge of the area, and love of ranch life. The riding didn’t disappoint with skilled guides, clear trails, and incredible views. They had a variety of beautiful, well trained horses to match all skill levels. We had an unplanned trip to Tombstone and some impromptu roping lessons to round out the trip. If you want a ranch vacation- this gem is not to be missed!

We had the most amazing time riding on the ranch for sunset! The horses looked very happy and healthy. The ranch is absolutely stunning. Incredible views in every direction. Our guides are so friendly and we had great conversation throughout our ride. I appreciated the tips and tricks on riding as it had been a while but I quickly gained my confidence with their guidance, and it made for such a beautiful, peaceful ride for my husbands birthday. Thank you so much for helping us making amazing memories and we will definitely be back!

So happy to have found this place on airbnb. We ended up staying two nights and the cabin we were in was amazing. Has all the comforts of home. The water pressure was very weak and if you plan to do any cooking make sure you bring all the ingredients with you. Otherwise this ranch was very charming. Wish I could’ve done the sunset horseback ride. Next time!

We had a delightful experience at the Double R Ranch on the day before Thanksgiving. We're from the East Coast (that's me, my wife, and our two adult children), so we had NO idea what to expect, only that the reviews were good and that we wanted to go for a horseback ride. It was all we could have asked for and more. I bought the sunset ride with dinner. The ranch hands were friendly and professional (two of them accompanied us on our hour+ ride along the Arizona trails). It was beautiful, austere, rugged, and right out of the old West! Ron (the owner) gave us some instruction before departure, and the whole thing was very straightforward. My steed (Max) knew the drill and performed like a Double R Ranch professional, as did the other mounts in my family's party.
As the sun set, we returned to the ranch for dinner. Family-style arrangement that we shared with another family who were there for extended lessons over a series of days. Great food and lively conversation as we supped and got to know one another . . . just like in the movies when strangers gathered in a western hotel for a meal.
The day was a great success, because as we drove home, EVERYONE was very pleased and content. There was talk of buying a ranch and riding horses. We were all energized!
Thanks to Ron and Trina and the rest of the staff. The family and I give the Double R Ranch our highest recommendation.

I had such an amazing time at the Double R Guest Ranch. I stayed there for a weekend and wish I could have stayed for longer!
The staff were absolutely lovely, super accommodating and so helpful. They all really go out their way to make the guests feel welcome and comfortable. I really enjoyed the great home-cooked meals (including delicious desserts with every dinner!). The staff joined us for the meals, shared their knowledge and stories and were genuinely interested in the guests.
The horses are really well looked after, happy, well-trained and just beautiful.
The bunk house I stayed in was clean, cosy and comfortable. I loved waking up in the morning, stepping out of the cabin and seeing the horses right outside as the first thing.
Everyone at the ranch has a respectful and gentle approach to horsemanship and all the animals. Safety and wellbeing – both guests’ and the horses - is taken very seriously at the ranch. Ron’s intuition and wisdom for matching riders with the right horses is great. I loved the horse I was assigned, and did multiple different trail rides (my favorite being the three peaks ride and the sunset ride) during my stay. I also did a riding lesson with Trina because I wanted to know more about the Western riding style (I’m used to English). She is a great teacher and I loved her showing her how it’s done in style on her horse.
I’m an experienced rider myself, but I was pleased to see that at Double R Ranch even beginners were taken on breathtaking trailrides thanks to the good-natured and wise horses and the experienced staff. This is something that would be hard to find in my home country Finland and across Europe, where most decent trail rides require previous riding experience.
I highly recommend booking a ride or a longer stay here! From the moment you arrive at the ranch to the time you leave the place (most likely with a big smile and wonderful memories to take away with you) you’ll feel relaxed, respected, cared for and safe.
I really hope to return to the ranch for another holiday in the future. Thank you!

I usually avoid writing reviews unless an experience stands out, be it exceptionally good or bad. This time, it was undeniably amazing. Each and every animal from the dogs to the horses are friendly and treated with compassion at the Double R Ranch. The owners, Ron and Trina, are not only kind but also enjoyable company, showing genuine interest in each guest. They go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy your time on the ranch and that all of your expectations are met.
Opting for the 5-day bunkhouse stay, I found cleanliness, comfort, and privacy amid breathtaking views of horses and mountains. The lack of internet in the bunkhouse, surprisingly, enhanced my goal of disconnecting from life's stresses and reconnecting with nature. It didn't disappoint.
The trails were both challenging and beautiful with several options to chose from. The staff will selectively pair you with a horse to match your experience and riding style. I observed them do this with several guests and was amazed at how well they matched each horse and rider. I really enjoyed getting to know my horse and appreciated his playful personality. I will warn that you might make a new friend if you show a little extra love between rides. Already missing my buddy, Max.
Meals, served family-style in the lodge, were a highlight. Everything was homemade and cooked with care. Despite my introverted nature, I eagerly anticipated dining with my newfound ranch family. Dinner, especially, fostered a sense of belonging, with laughter and love shared among everyone. It truly felt like finding family that I had lost along the way.

We visited a couple days before Christmas for the Ocotillo trail ride and had a blast! I have not had a ton of riding experience besides a few lessons and trail rides, and the trail was definitely a fun challenge, but I felt completely safe and relaxed the entire time. Max was a complete gentle giant and not once did I feel that I could not trust him or that I was unsafe. Our guide was also excellent, made great conversation with every single person on our ride, and gave plenty of helpful advice while on the trail. Will definitely be back again, and I absolutely recommend this ranch if you are in the area and want a unique way to view the scenery!

My husband and i celebrated our two year anniversary on a sunset trail ride and it was amazing! Ron was great at accommodating me as i wanted to surprise my husband with his favorite horse! Trail was beautiful and horses were very happy and well taken care of! His trail lead was very attentive, funny and even stopped to take our photo for us! Loved everything about this ranch! Will definitely be back!

Unforgettable weekend for me.
I was looking for a peaceful place, no stress, no pollution. It’s exactly what I got. I came here to recharge my batteries, mom of 3 kids I needed a weekend just for myself. The cabin was more than enough for me, not too much pressure in the shower but that didn’t bother me. I liked the all inclusive with all good meals prepared for us and shared with the owners. I got lucky and shared an unexpected dinner time with Katrinka and her family who played piano for us and we all sang together. It was “genial” (new French word for Ron). My husband got very jealous of the stars and Milky Way that I could enjoyed during the night. The rides were obviously very great. But my favorite was definitely the fast ride with Ron, my horse for the weekend named Catalina and 3 of the 8 dogs of the property. I could enjoyed fast runs during the ride and that will leave me unforgettable memories. Ron brought me and an other guest who stayed longer at the ranch, in tombstone which was unexpected and very appreciated after our 3 hours morning ride. Everything was great. I’m planning to come back and bring the whole family to enjoy more. Thank you Ron and Trina for this weekend ! I’ll come back for sure.
A destination popular for camping with RV hookups & cabins plus a lake with a beach & hiking trails.
Nice park. Camping sites are not real close together. Bath houses available. No motor on lake. Nice swim area and hiking trails. Great mountain views.

Great RV and campsite State Park. Although the Park is undergoing some upgrading it does not diminish the beauty and scenic views of the Park. With the snow capped Mount Graham as it's southern view scale makes for a wonderful backdrop. Roper Lake has day use camp sites with toilet facilities makes for a better experience. One can fish year round for bass, catfish, bluegill and seasonal trout.

Clean campground, bathroom, showers, and dish wash station. Trails are short but offer nice loop around the park, good views of lake, graham mountain, and sunset on the Mariah Mesa Trail.

Really nice RV park with hookups. Very clean, lovely trail to walk all the way around the lake. Can't swim in the lake right now (March) apparently because of too high mineral content but it's pretty to look at. Restrooms and showers are very clean and camp hosts are nice and friendly but leave you alone if you want.

I still enjoy going to roper! May take my pup next time. There is construction projects going on but I'm not sure it's anything that we will notice once complete. It would be nice if the natural hot spring would have been fixed so that the Jacuzzi wouldn't have been cemented in. But since a major attraction was removed. Another should be brought in to keep it more competitive. Even the island. My favorite location doesn't seem to be as inviting since the water receded so badly the following summer. But it's still a nice place to barbecue on a weekday.

Arizona has wonderful state parks & campgrounds. We loved Roper Lake State Park. Not as busy as others and had spacious sites with lake views. Loved hearing the red-winged blackbirds and coots call. We had decent wi-fi here. We had 50 amp power and water, but no sewer hook-up. Sani-dump was available. We had site 17. Site was spacious with mountain and lake views. Our site was clean and raked with a picnic ramada. Rangers were helpful. There were a number of hiking trails which provided elevated views of the area. Or you could follow the level trail around the lake. This was our second visit and we look forward to returning.

The first thing we went to when arriving at the park was the hot spring. It was my first experience with a hot spring. The water was warmer then expected. We went on the hike near the spring. There are some pretty views of the lake and the mountain. We were able to do the hike easily with our 7 and 5 year old kids.

Friendly, affordable, accessible, and filled with the desert's beauty - they have everything you could want in a high desert getaway. We first parked our motor home between a huge mesquite & a gazebo covered picnic table, before moving closer to the lake where we can listen to the ducks. There's cabins if you're interested, and a picturesque path between them & the showers. The Rangers are helpful and friendly and shopping in nearby Safford/ Thatcher is a delight - the prices are well below what I'm used to. Just be ready for everyone to say hello. This is the very best of small town life.

My family stayed a long weekend and were overall happy campers at Roper. The grounds and facilities were all very well maintained and there are options for everyone. There was even a dog park which was a nice touch. The lake itself is on the small side and with the water levels down, the swimming area was not really a swimming area in that it is less than waist deep and very mucky. The kids don't mind that though. When the wind isn't blowing too bad there are a few options for fishing spots. We had a few bites but no real luck there this trip. Definitely lock up food and trash at night or raccoons will have their way with it.

So beautiful. Lots of wildlife. Clean bathrooms. The cabins were clean, the porch was big with an attached food prep area with a sink and grill. Fire pit. You can buy wood at the gift shop. The hot spring is closed and filled in with dirt. But it's just gorgeous and the rv/tent campsites are very nice too with a brick Ramada and picnic table. Electric hookups and a dump site for rv's. Beautiful scenery. Just Gorgeous. Cabins were clean. Smaller then the ones at Kartchner, without the college sized fridge or microwave. The porch area is huge with a swing, and it has a food prep area outside next to the grill with a sink. The hot spring/tub is filled with dirt and out of commission. The swimming area is open though. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk from the cabins, but there are chemical toilets closer. The beds are hard...like they are just box springs... We will be back. It's just so beautiful and relaxing. Lots of wildlife. Highly recommend.
Big park offering tours of a cave with unique rock formations & a butterfly garden.
Beautiful cave with geological formations and seasonal wildlife. We did the basic cave tour, the guides were pleasant, informative and amusing. A few nice trails inside the park and a little cafe with snacks. The pretzel is huge! Nice gift shop as well. Fun place to explore with a friend or take the family in a day trip.

My family and i had such a great time exploring and learning the history of caves! Our tour guide Jaye was awesome! She has a great sense of humor and made sure everyone in our tour group got to be apart of the experience. She was “boulder” than most and “rocked” as a tour guide!! All the staff we encountered here were so kind and helpful! The prickly pear slushy was so good! I would recommend if you are visiting Tucson to check out the Colossal Cave!

Let's be honest first impressions you're going to a hole in the ground. Then you get there and it's a hole in the ground. The staff are more than pleasant and our guide was in a great mood until she lost a few people. No seriously she was a great tour guide and the trip took a little over an hour and you wouldn't even know. Really for a hole in the ground it is really cool and a great experience especially if you're going with kids. When we went there was very few people and the weather was great. There's no need to bring jackets or warm gear even in the winter due to the cave having it's own climate system and it being comfortable year-round. Definitely worth checking out.

Our guide, Adam, was great, as was the cave! We’ve been to a few caves in the western US, and they never fail to impress… this one included.
They offer deeper access for more skilled adventurers, though they require a test of your ability before letting you loose.
The history here is unique, and the tour was fun and memorable.

The cave tour and park are so neat. There was a lot of great information provided in the tour. I learned a lot about the history, cave facts, and different formations. The tour guide we had, Everett, was hilarious. The jokes were fast and frequent. He was also highly informed, enthusiastic, and kind. This has been one of my favorite vacation experiences in a while, and I travel a lot.

If you are visiting Arizona this is a must stop!! This is my first time back to Colossal Cave since I was kid. The whole family took the Ladder Tour and our Tour Guide Everett was the best!!! The drive down was beautiful. It was very easy to find and had plenty of free parking. The nature trail was short and sweet and it had a gorgeous view. I highly recommend the Ladder Tour for children 12 and up. Everett made the tour so fun and had so much patience for our kids “million questions”. We learned so much and left feeling excited for our next trip back. Thank you Everett and the gift shop attendants for your kindness and help.

Decided to get out of the desert heat, literally, by going underground. My brother suggested this place to me to hit up while in the Tucson area. So, booked tickets online for a given time slot and head there for the tour of the caves. It was a nice diversion of the heat of the surface and some interesting formations in the caves. Our guide was a 17 year old girl who knew her history of the place well and gave us a nice narrated tour. I think her name was Jessica(?) We got a ice cream at the little outdoor cafe area near the entrance of the caves. So, all in all, nice visit. Oh, you do need to check in at the gift shop before you join the tour to let them know you have showed up for your time slot.

This "Classic" cave tour, with 8-10 people, was led by Eric. The cave was tremendously interesting with tight enough passages and minimal lighting to lend a degree mystery, challenge and excitement. Walkways and stairways - constructed largely by the CCC in the 1930s - were easy and safe enough without being theme park "manicured." Eric was a most excellent guide. He was knowledgeable about the history of the cave's discovery, exploration and exploitation and its geology and formation. His presentation was done with humor, intelligence and enthusiasm. Great fun.

I had a wonderful experience at the Colossal Cave Mountain Park, Classic Cave Tour. Our tour guide was Emilio, who was informative, chill, friendly, and chock full of dad jokes 😅!
It is so incredible what mother nature forms, and how in the right hands of humans, can be kept safe from harm. Beautiful views inside and out of the cave. I am definitely returning when I'm in the area once again to spend a whole day there. 🥰🥰
Note:
It is a bit warm in the cave, and we were informed that in the summer months, it can be extremely humid in there.
Clean restrooms are available. It is not out of the way to get to.
If you would like, you can tip your tour guide! I was a dummy, and didn't think to bring any cash to do so. Hopefully this review makes up for it this time!
P.S. Emilio says to mention how luscious his hair is so, EMILIO HAS LUSCIOUS HAIR! Haha!
Thank you again, good sir!

My family and I visited Colossal Cave last week and it exceeded our expectations. We took the classic cave tour and had a great time.
Dalton was our guide and shared many interesting facts and stories as part of the cave tour. He was very personable and made the tour fun and interactive with the guests. We even saw a bat flying around inside!
I originally thought we would spend about an hour at the cave tour, but after it was done we spent a few more hours having lunch there, hiking around the nature trails, and checking out the gift shop.
The food was good and reasonably priced. Most of the food was fried and had a little wait due to the fryer capacity. If looking for a tasty snack I would recommend the Colossal pretzel and also the prickly pear soft serve ice cream!
The nature trail was very nice and not crowded at all. We enjoyed seeing the desert plants, especially the baby Saguaro cactus that we were trying to spot during our hike. It is so impressive how long it takes for the Saguaro cactus to reach full size after starting off so tiny and vulnerable on the desert floor.
I would highly recommend Colossal Cave to anyone looking for something interesting to do in Tuscon area. I definitely will plan on returning to take the ladder tour on our next visit to Tuscon.

I would love to go again for one of the more challenging tours.

Our group of four enjoyed the ladder tour with our friendly guide Arike. While this cave tour was very mild with some climbing and a few tighter gaps, most will find this tour a great introduction to caving. Would highly recommend and hope you get Arike as your guide.
