Melbourne Zoo is a family-friendly attraction located in the city centre of Melbourne, Australia. The zoo has animals from all around the world and remains one of the city's most popular attractions. It is also one of the world's first carbon-neutral zoos.
Best zoo I've ever been to and I've been to zoos from all across Europe and the wider world. I went on valentine's Day with my partner.
This zoo has a massive variety of animals and the enclosures are large and well maintained. We were in the zoo for 4.5 hours and only saw half the animals - luckily we purchased memberships and will be visiting again next week to see the rest.
The keepers are friendly and knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions. For us, the butterfly house was the highlight and was truly breathtaking.
Cannot recommend highly enough, especially if you really care about the welfare of animals and love being able to see a large variety.

Excellent adventure…! I really enjoyed the beautiful environment and scenery! It’s a great experience to see the Australian animals. It’s better to book the ticket in advance. The price is affordable. You can either bring your lunch or buy it from several cafes in there. It takes almost a full day to visit all parts of the zoo. Highly recommended in school holidays…

Great place. You can find gorillas, giraffes, Kangaroos, Tiger, 🦁, Elephants. They are preserving a lot of soon to be extinct species. This is the 1st carbon neutral zoo in the entire world. Well maintained and observed regularly by volunteers, workers. They are taking good care of the animals inside. The gorilla 🦍 rainforest was really very amazing then comes the kangaroo island. And yea the sea penguins 🐧 were also nice.

We had a beautiful time in Melbourne zoo. They have a lot of different type animals and I was surprised how big is the zoo. The best thing of the zoo is that you can watch the animals really close. Definitely a good plan for a family or any person to visit :)

A very nice place to visit when you traveling with children.
The zoo is not so big but the animals are vary.
We can reach the zoo just by tram, not so far from city center.
Just enjoy the whole are by walk, we can see so many animals.

Fantastic day at the zoo. Place has really improved from when i was a kid.
Young fella loved it.
Heaps of shady areas to put down a rug and have a picnic.
Food and drink is also available. We ordered the hamper for 2, must be done at lease 3 days prior to your visit to the zoo. Heaps of places to get an ice cream as well.

Such a beautiful place.
Good to take the kids... the animals all seem happy and healthy.
Their enclosures are well kept and I love the diversity (reptiles, sea life, land animals).
There is so much to see and do here.
You can become a member, which gives you access to other zoos as well, which is really handy or you can get general admission which isn't expensive.
SylvarLorali — Google review
Our family always have a great time at the zoo but more so from the atmosphere being in proximity to lots of different animals than the location itself here. We usually spend 4-5 hours on a Saturday at any given visit. There are always many animals not in sight, mostly sleeping or very far away so it can be disappointing if kids have been excited to see them. I'm not sure how much it can be helped though as you also don't want to disrupt how the animals naturally behave.
The food options need improvement. Various outlets around the zoo which is great but small servings vs high prices. We prefer to pack our own food for this reason but it can be tiresome lugging food around all day for a whole family.
Positives are the great open spaces for kids to run around, the carousel area is especially fun and recently we were able to enjoy our lunch break in one of the domes which was something different and exciting. The themed events that are run usually in Summer are also a fun experience for the family.

Strikes a very good balance between conservation and entertainment.
The zoo is within walking distance of the CBD, and it's an enjoyable walk through the suburbs. It's also well served via the tram network. Very friendly staff and well laid out with a tremendous amount to see. It's a great day out for old and young, with plenty of toilets and places to eat and drink. I visited out of season and on a weekday (Monday, July), so it was busy, but far from crowded).
Modern zoos have a difficult tightrope to balance between entertainment and conservation and Melbourne's Zoo does this well. It's great to see animals being well cared for and mostly happy in their confinement, including a couple of baby elephants. The large aviaries are excellent to walk through, yet no so spacious that you end up having to play hunt-the-animal in the enclosures. No zoo will ever be perfect, but this one must be high up on the list of good ones, and ones doing their best to make a difference in terms of education and values in conservation.
The butterfly house is a must visit - tranquil, fragile beauty abounds.

Great experience, kids loved it. Everything comes off a main street so it's easy to navigate. Mornings are better so the cats are slightly more active. There is a clever orangutan who sits with a blanket on him. Cafes are decent.

Fantastic zoo! Went here on a Tuesday and there was a fair bit of a crowd, but there was no wait to enter at all. Bought tickets on-site, staff were friendly and welcoming. Large variety of animals that look well cared for. Only issue was that some animals were moved to different enclosures, so we could not see them. However, we had to amazing opportunity to see the wombat while it was awake, so that made up for everything. Food at the cafes were filling and tasted great, would recommend for families and animal enthusiasts to come here 👍
Lynxly — Google review
This zoo is great. There's so many animals you probably won't see them all in one day. Most areas have a covered section so a bit of rain shouldn't stop you. I would encourage you to bring your own food though as the cafes are quite inconsistent in their operating hours plus they're mostly not located around places where you have animal views. Check out the free keeper talk times on their website before your visit for added value. Parents room are decent. Locker storage available - need credit card, between $5-$10 for the first 4 hours depending on size. Wheelchairs can be booked for free, need 48 hours notice. Parking is $2 for 5 hours, so it works out cheaper than public transport for most.

Melbourne Zoo offers a captivating experience for visitors of all ages. From majestic elephants to playful meerkats, the diverse range of animals creates a thrilling atmosphere. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident through informative exhibits and engaging keeper talks. Visitors can wander through lush habitats, immersing themselves in the natural world while learning about global conservation efforts. The zoo's efforts in animal welfare and sustainability are commendable, making it not just a place for entertainment but also a hub for learning and conservation awareness. Overall, Melbourne Zoo provides a memorable and enriching experience for animal lovers and families alike.

Always wonderful to visit. Love the different areas to visit and learn about animals, animals on endangered lists, conservation and lots of information on how you can help.
Almost all of the Zoo is accessible to all abilities!
Lots of restrooms and shady eating areas.

The whole day was fantastic, we had so much fun. Ventured into the park with 7 year old and 4 year old. We hadn’t seen all the animals and exhibits before the 4 year old was exhausted but it was so worth it.
Would go again for sure anyway.
Staff were fantastic
Parking being locked in for 5hours kind of sucked but that’s the councils fault.

We love coming to the zoo.
It's always a fun day out.
Staff are happy to chat to the children about the animals.
It's clean and animals are in great sized enclosures.

At first, I thought AU$46 (adult) was a little bit pricy, but it was so worth it. I had a great time here to watch various animals and was very glad to see their good living environment compared to other zoos. They had 'Koala talk' at 11AM, and I was happy to be there.

Visited Melbourne Zoo from 11 am to 4 pm. Affordable parking at $2 for 5 hours. Explored the park twice, taking about 2.5 hours each round—perfect for a 10k step day! Loved baboons, elephants, and seals, though lions were napping. Friendly staff readily available for assistance. Ample parking, but bring your own food for dietary needs due to a small cafe with limited options during off-peak hours. Despite that, it's a fantastic tourist attraction. Solo visit, but planning to return with family. Thank you, Melbourne Zoo, for a delightful day! Highly recommended for a memorable outing with a good mix of wildlife and friendly atmosphere.

Visited Melbourne Zoo with my family today and had an incredible experience! The fact that entrance fees for kids are waived on weekends is a fantastic perk. The diverse range of animals and well-maintained exhibits made it both educational and enjoyable for everyone. The staff's passion for conservation shines through, and the interactive activities added an extra layer of fun. A perfect family outing surrounded by the beauty of wildlife. Highly recommend!

It was a day filled with fun, food, adventure and entertainment. My kids loved to see the animals. Very clean and beautiful place in the heart of the Melbourne, not too far from the CBD. We had lots of fun. My kids learnt lots of things about the animals. Beautiful animal, well looked after by the zoo team members. A place worth going with family and friends. Definitely going again with kids.

Our recent visit to Melbourne Zoo was an unforgettable experience. The zoo is exceptionally well-organized, making it easy to navigate through the diverse exhibits. From the playful meerkats to the majestic giant tortoises, the variety of animals is impressive. The aviaries are a paradise for bird lovers, showcasing a colorful array of species, while the butterfly house is a serene escape, fluttering with beauty.
The big cats, including lions and tigers, exude a regal presence, and the gorillas remind us of our connection to nature. Australian natives like kangaroos are always a delight, and the elephants never fail to amaze their gentle giants. The reptile section offers a glimpse into a different world, and the sea world section is a dive into the aquatic wonders.
A special mention must go to the Dino World section – it’s a roaring success, providing an immersive dinosaur experience that’s both educational and entertaining. It’s a hit with the kids and adults alike!
I highly recommend arriving at opening time and booking tickets in advance to make the most of your visit. With ample parking and reasonable prices, Melbourne Zoo offers great value. It’s a fantastic outing for families, truly a treasure trove for children’s curiosity and fun.
I hope this review captures the essence of your visit! 🦁🦋🦕

On Thursday April 4th my friend Corinne & I visited the zoo. We were there for a good 4 1/2 hours. The day was splendid, so many families and children as well as tourists & just people enjoying themselves. The staff are all so informative & friendly, they all do a tremendous job looking after the animals as well as the general upkeep of the zoo. I have an annual pass & look forward to coming back during the year to explore more & experience the zoo in different seasons. We took public transport as parking can sometimes be a nightmare from what I’ve been told unless you come early to get a parking spot. We are also interested in staying overnight for one of their overnight events. I highly recommend people visit. 🐯 🐵 🐸🐧 🦋

My sister and I attended Roar and Snore with Cathy and Ariel Thursday night , it honestly was the most magical experience ever .
They were so engaging and extremely knowledgeable with all the beautiful animals.
We had a night walk and we saw the lions up and about. Then the next morning we went into the elephant enclosure and placed treats in there from them to find.
We met the keepers and they were a wealth of knowledge it was just so special.
Thank you so much Cathy and Ariel you ladies are honestly the best ,

Having visited zoo in Europe, I am not particularly impressed. For the price of ticket paid, we finished the zoo tour in 3 hours. But I liked snow leopard and seal attraction. Very very few birds and aquatic life, very few rain forest animals, etc. I would not visit again unless there is a big upgrade!
Eureka Tower has a gold-plated observation deck with panoramic city views, as well as a protruding glass cube. The tower is situated perfectly for 360-degree, floor-to-ceiling views encompassing Melbourne CBD, sports precinct, Docklands and everything in between. There are also various activities and fascinating facts to keep the entire family entertained.
Best place to get a birds eye view of the city of Melbourne. The sunset from the top is breathtaking. The best time to visit is in the afternoon just before the sunset and the sun is not too bright, the city looks spectacular. The night view also very nice. Tickets are a bit pricey but worth the experience. Highly recommended

This is a great place to see a whole Melbourne city.
We especially enjoyed a virtual visual section on level 1. If you have kids, you should go there. They should love it! 😍

This is a fantastic place to visit if you want a bird’s eye view of the city of Melbourne.
Went with school students on an excursion in 2012, it used to be called Eureka Skydeck.
It costs nearly $30.00 for an adult but there are children and concession prices available.
The school students were very impressed by the building and architecture and found the views breathtaking.
I also enjoyed the views from all different angles. I took several photos but could only find one that I had saved on my devices, so maybe another time on a clear day I will go and take more stunning aerial photos of Melbourne.
On a clear day, it is worthwhile to go for a visit, you will be impressed.
You can also enjoy dining at Eureka 89 if you have time, bear in mind this is a 5 course menu so the price may be a bit steep, but worth it.
The place is accessible by transport.
I went there again recently and really enjoyed the sunset taking many photos and some videos.

Amazing place to visit with friends or family. This is the highest observation deck in the northern hemisphere which is around 300 metres high. You can go up to 88th floor by high speed lift. Sunset experience is just great if you visit in the evening. “Edge” facility is also available here for daring visitors who want to stand in the glass cube 300 meters high from the ground level as this glass cube comes out of the Sky-deck.

Beautiful views of Melbourne, we bought the tickets online for $28 which is cheaper than buying at the spot. We got the basic visit only but they have different plans that include virtual reality, drinks, the edge (which is a piece of the building that moves in and out and let's you look down through a see through floor with a whole sensory experience. Found the views were well worth it, the place was not full so you could calmly have great views and have a nice time.

This is the ideal place to begin a visit to Melbourne. There are 360 degree views of the entire city (as you would expect). The really cool bit is that there are mounted telescopes focused on individual buildings and locations of note with labels. So you can easily get a feel for where places are and whether you’d like to visit or not. The elevators are some of the fastest I’ve been on and it doesn’t feel like you’re hardly moving! You’re whisked to the top and back down in what feels like just a few seconds. There’s a small cafe with snacks at the top and a photo op spot that makes it look like you’re standing up top outside. You exit through the gift shop which offers the standard souvenirs but also a cooler full of ice cream and ice cold bottles of water. Very helpful when it’s hot. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A very fun experience.

If you enjoy good views, I’d definitely recommend spending the money on this. You get great views over the city of Melbourne. The best time to go up is around sunset, so make sure you stay to see the switch from day to night. I didn’t buy any of the extra tickets you can get (Virtual Reality Experience or pictures and co.) and to be honest, I don’t think I missed out on anything. The Deck itself even has a little outside area, where you can breathe some fresh air from the 88. level. There is also a bar up there, but as you’d expect, it is quite expensive. So if the weather is good, I’d definitely recommend going up.

Love the ambience, worth the money. You can spend some peaceful time as it's not much crowded on weekdays. Can enjoy a small snack and drink from the cafe which is quite reasonably priced.
We spent around 2 hours here. People usually spend no more than 1 hour.

The 88-story Sky Tower is very spectacular and must be experienced once. Although it is very high, the elevator is very fast and can be reached in about 30 seconds. The service staff guided us very kindly. You can overlook the magnificent cityscape of Melbourne. I highly recommend it to everyone.

There is a fantastic view from top, sunny day may cause reflections from the glass to have a good view. So next time I would prefer a cloudy day.
One must have an experience of the moving out deck, great experience of the extended deck is the scary view, sound effects and lighting, they give us 3 photos from the deck. But the charge is extra, not included in skydeck price

Not a complaint but You can find cheaper tickets online for some reason.
This is one of the must-go list in Melbourne. From up on the Skydeck, you can clearly see all the landmarks in Melbourne. You simply cannot miss this during your trip. The picture will not lie. One advice though, visit during the near sunset hour would be perfect. You can have a pine in the bar until the sunset, would definitely loved the picture and memories!

Breathtaking 360 degree view's for miles. The edge experience is probably not worth the extra unless you really are scared of heights I wouldn't bother. We had a fire alarm activate while we were up the which everyone ignored until the staff casually rounded us up and directed us down the stairs. We didn't have to walk all 80+ floors to the ground however, at about 59 we could leave the concrete stairwell and take the lift. The fire alarm was due to some toast burning apparently. A refund was offered.

A highly recommended place for kids and students groups.

Personally I think its a bit overpriced at $30 per person for just a view. It is a nice view and the drinks at the bar are pricey yet delicious. The binoculars are surprisingly powerful and can see quite far distances, which was good fun.
Priscilla Jacob — Google review
The view up top is simply amazing and breathtaking both during the day and at night. It is not something that you can see unless you ride a helicopter. However, the charm of this place only lasts for a few moments. You will easily get bored of the place and there is not much activity to do after. Good thing, the National Gallery of Victoria is nearby so you can move there as your next destination.
Overall, this place is nice for a first time visit. After your first time, you will not be enamored by this place as the first time you saw it. Also, prepare money for this place is not free.

Exhilarating experience! The layout is such that you have 360 degree panoramic views. There are fixed binoculars around the place that point to famous landmarks.
Before you go up there are little information boards :)
My favourite was the outdoor area, you could really feel the force of the wind.
We also did the edge experience, which was cool but very loud. If you get in there with a bunch of kids, prepare to go def. They also play really loud sounds over the speakers (slightly louder than the cinema).
Awesome views! Recommend to go sunset or during a storm :)

Visited there on Friday evening. View was awesome from top, and building management was good and helpful.
But to be honest, for every single thing you have to pay extra money. And even just to go on top we have paid 30$ per person which was too much money for this experience.
In my opinion, it's not the value of money experience.

Great way to see Melbourne, however be mindful that weather here can change by the time you make it up the elevator. Sadly the lighting and window tint makes it really hard to get good photos, expect to see your hands and phone reflected.
The Edge experience, skip it, it's over a 30 min wait to be there 5 minutes, it's not well maintained and the glass is stained.
It's a good starter to see Melbourne, just skip all the add ons. Book online to get a cheaper price, there is no need to schedule.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground, often referred to simply as the 'G', is one of the world's great sporting venues and home of Australian football and the National Sports Museum. Came here to watch the Manchester United Tour games. Very fun experience and huge stadium, not a fan of how far you are from the pitch and that Level 1 seating is quite flat which means anyone standing up will block the view of those behind. Would recommend booking on Level 2.
Easily accessible via public transport, best to take the Metro after games as the tram come infrequently and it’s always packed.

Great stadium for watching AFL football. Only disappointment is the extreme wait when purchasing a beverage or food (up to 25 minutes wait for a drink). Serving crowds in a timely manner should get easier after a century of events hosting over 100,000 people.

The official tour of the MCG was really interesting with lots of facts and anecdotes included by the friendly and knowledgeable guide. I was last at the ground in 1996 and it has now been completely transformed, yet still retains its sense of history and tradition. Definitely worth a visit for any cricket and/or Australian rules football fans; plus the walking options from the city centre include strolling through beautiful parks or along the Yarra riverbank.

I’m American and have only seen two cricket games and yet I still loved the tour. Peter, our guide, did a great job.
The tour lasted 75-mins. It moves quickly so you see everything. There is time to take pictures and our guide took some for everyone as well in certain spots if you wanted them for your group .
You need to be comfortable walking quite a bit and walking quickly. Our group was a reasonable size.
There are lifts and I’m sure they offer special tours for those less ambulatory.

If I could get a membership. The Melbourne Cricket Ground avails it's magic when you notice. I noticed. Now all I am waiting for is an invite. Seriously though the MCG has history, atmosphere and community. Join in you may even hear the roar.

Amazing stadium, but you already know that. View from any seat in the house is amazing and unobstructed. Great food options on site with all the stadium favourites. To avoid fighting for a park take the option to park more central in the city and enjoy the walk down the river and over the bridge that leads you right up to the stadium. If you have not been then book some tickets it is an experience of a lifetime!

The MCG and its accompanying museum certainly have a great rich history about them. There's much to see and do, and without being bias, I have to admit I had a good time, despite being a musician by nature and not the sporting type.
It's a great place to bring kids and even seasoned sports fans will learn something about the processes and preparations that take place prior to each game. Believe it or not, mowing the lawn isn't the only job needed.😂

The MCG is the biggest and most spectacular sports precinct in Australia. It's such a vibrant venue, delivering one of the best sports atmospheres in the world. I would recommend visiting even if you're not a sports person as this place is all about the experience. Facilities are great, and the stadium is easily accessible via public transport. Food and drinks are reasonably priced for a sports venue.

Did a tour here and it was very enjoyable, Bryan was diligent and informative. We moved through lots of areas within the MCG and he gave different information and history for each. Would recommend a tour here, give you a chance to see the grounds without all the hustle of an event!

Although I know next to nothing about cricket, this was such a great visit. The stadium tour was really interesting, and you get to see some fantastic facilities in the ground itself. The museum is also fantastic, so many interactive elements, including the opportunity to take part in some sports too. Would recommend, whether you’re a sports fan or not. Thank you Sue for a fantastic tour, hope you get your blazer!

Attending a footy match at the MCG was an absolutely unforgettable experience! The atmosphere of the stadium is truly electric, making every moment of the game feel thrilling and intense. I highly recommend getting a seat close to the ground to truly feel the excitement and energy of the match. There is ample parking available both around and inside the MCG, which made getting there a breeze.
Inside the stadium, there are several food options ranging from snacks to full meals, as well as drinks and coffee to keep you refreshed throughout the game. The match typically lasts around 3 hours, so be sure to grab something warm and a jacket if needed. Additionally, there are convenient toilets located inside the MCG for your convenience. Overall, I had an amazing time at the MCG and would highly recommend it to any sports fan looking for a top-notch stadium experience. Can't wait to go back for another game!"

What a historic tour I had, headed straight from the airport and was able to keep my luggage in the locker space they had. Absolutely no issues.
Ian was our guide and he was the most exciting person I have ever seen. He had so much energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and passion about cricket and all the historical events he shared with us was something special and most of us didn’t know.
The museum tour is on your own but there are guides present as well. They will help you understand about anything you ask but it’s not limited to cricket. MCG is about everything.
I highly recommend the tour.

I have been a big Taylor fan for many years; however, I was actively considering not attending the Eras tour in fear of getting in and out of the event with 96,000 people plus everyone on the outside listening in.
However, I was equally shocked and impressed by:
✅How well they had the crowds moving.
✅How easy it was to get around.
✅How well organised it was.
✅How friendly the staff were.
✅How well the facilities handed the capacity.

Great stadium, huge but well organised. It was easy to get inside the stadium and find our seats. The canteen/ restaurant was big and it served food and drinks with reasonable prices. Staff were very nice with great custumer services, security guards were friendly and helpful. Toilet was clean and easily accessible. Even though there was a huge crowd of 100,000 people attending the event, we walked and exited easily. The concert of was out of this word. What a great experience we had!!!

Fantastic stadium. Well laid out with a well lit concourse. Ushers everywhere, all willing to help (unlike in North American arenas and stadiums). Large screen monitors everywhere, or so it seems. My first AFL game. Fortunately had my neice's boyfriend to explain the game to me.

The MCG is the home ground for my football team and I am so glad it is because it’s the perfect setting for a good game of football. With accessibility to all levels, beautiful views of the field, and multiple places to eat it’s one of my favourite sporting locations.
If you head along on a day where sport isn’t being played you can see the sports museum which has a vast history of Australian and international sports on display. Perfect for families and friends alike for a day trip and ideal for any sports fan on a visit to the G. Staff are friendly and helpful, facilities are well maintained and cared for, and the atmosphere on the biggest sporting days is electric. Give the MCG a visit on your next trip into Richmond.
If you're looking for a great place to watch the Melbourne skyline and Port Phillip Bay from, look no further than St Kilda Pier. With its impressive views, this pier is perfect for all sorts of activities - including penguin watching!
Fantastic place to catch the sunset, get views of the city, and spot some penguins!
Note that the actual penguin viewing area further down is closed as of the time of this review.

St Kilda Pier: Where Adventure Meets Serenity!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Prepare to embark on a thrilling journey as you step foot onto the iconic St Kilda Pier in Melbourne. The moment you set your eyes on the shimmering waters of Port Phillip Bay, a rush of excitement courses through your veins, promising an unforgettable experience ahead.
As you stroll along the wooden planks of the pier, the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the pylons fills the air, creating a symphony that harmonizes with the beat of your heart. The salty breeze brushes against your cheeks, carrying with it the scents of the sea—a tantalizing blend of ocean mist and freshly caught fish.
Gazing out into the vast expanse of blue, you're captivated by the sight of sailboats gracefully gliding across the water, their colorful sails billowing in the wind. The lively chatter of seagulls overhead adds to the symphony of sounds, as if they're welcoming you to their seaside sanctuary.
Your eyes are drawn to the distant horizon, where the sky meets the water in a breathtaking display of colors—brilliant hues of orange, pink, and purple that paint the canvas of the heavens. The golden sun begins its descent, casting a warm glow that illuminates the surroundings and creates an ethereal ambiance.
As you continue your journey towards the end of the pier, a sense of anticipation builds within you. You catch a glimpse of the famous St Kilda Breakwater, its rugged rocks teeming with life. Curious penguins waddle along the shore, adding a touch of whimsy to the coastal landscape. It's a magical sight that reminds you of the wonders that lie beneath the surface of the sea.
Reaching the end of the pier, you find yourself surrounded by a panoramic view that stretches as far as the eye can see. The city skyline of Melbourne stands tall in the distance, a testament to the harmonious coexistence of urban and natural beauty. The vibrant colors of Luna Park's iconic Ferris wheel catch your attention, hinting at the thrills and laughter that await just a stone's throw away.
As you take a moment to soak in the atmosphere, a sense of tranquility washes over you. The peacefulness of the surroundings creates a sanctuary away from the bustling city, allowing you to connect with nature and find solace in its embrace.
St Kilda Pier is not just a destination—it's an invitation to embrace adventure, indulge in serenity, and experience the true essence of Melbourne's coastal charm. So, fellow adventurers, I implore you to set foot on this mesmerizing pier, where excitement meets tranquility, and unforgettable memories are waiting to be made. It's a place where dreams come alive, and the wonders of the sea and sky are yours to explore.

Flown down from WA and currently Half of the pier is completely closed, you can’t really even walk it because only one side is visible and the other is complete construction. Can’t go down to see the penguins and the coffee shop isn’t open either blocked off by big walls due to the construction. Looks like it’s going to be amazing when it’s done! But virtually nothing to see/do on their at the moment, what a shame

I have been coming to this Pier in St Kilda since I was 12. It's very safe to walk along the pier, just make sure you have a jacket as it can get very windy and cool at times. It's also the best place to go fishing in Melbourne. I usually come here with my dad to catch silver breams. 😁

My favourite place to watch the sunrise in Melbourne, at present they are doing major maintenance and repairs so you can't get past the old ice-cream parlour so you don't get the full effect, If you can wait until the construction is finished to experience this time of day down here then I would advise you to wait.

Healesville Sanctuary is a renowned Australian wildlife refuge that provides both indoor and outdoor playgrounds, as well as cafes and shops. This iconic Victorian destination allows visitors to experience Australian animals such as dingoes, emus, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, platypuses and more in their natural habitat. Guests can enjoy feeding parrots and watching the Spirits of the Sky bird show while learning interesting facts about these fascinating creatures from knowledgeable zookeepers.
I have visited this sanctuary multiple times and loved it every time. It has a good variety of animals with a nice setup to show them in their habitats. If you’re there in time for shows, shows are both informative and interesting. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s great to know that this place helps animals and puts them back to the wild. Another great thing about this place is that it’s open on public holidays, even on Good Friday and Christmas day. Also kids can visit the place for free on weekends.

Absolutely worth the drive from Melbourne! Even the drive itself is really lovely... But the Sanctuary is just great! You really feel like you're in the middle of the bush with the animals joining you. The animals are in nice large enclosures and seem to have good space, the trees tower overhead and the local river is just an extra nice feature. One of the definite highlights is the Spirits of the Sky bird show... Awesome information and skills from the keepers, with incredible natural behaviour on show from the birds... Who definitely own the decisions to participate or not. Kids and adults alike area just mesmerised. Thanks for another amazing visit Healesville Sanctuary! 😍

Highly recommend this sanctuary for Australian animals. Good layout, lots of trees and shades. Easy to navigate within the sanctuary, good signage that shows directions for each animal. This centre serves to protect endangered and vulnerable species and promote education and awareness.

The sanctuary has most of the local Australian species some of which are endangered. They are kept in an healthy environment which is aesthetically designed.
The kangaroos and the Kualas are fun to watch.
You need a day to actually fully appreciate the place.
Well kept and well designed sanctuary.

We went there with a tour, but if you live nearby you can buy a membership and visit often. We tend to buy memberships to the local museum and zoo in our area and when we have visitors it's nice to take them there.
This zoo gives you a chance to see the animals that are local to Australia, like the kangaroo, the koala etc. they have lots of play areas for younger kids.
,a few picnic areas and at different hours they have one of the caretakers come out and talk about a certain species of animal found there. If there are specific topics you are interested in, I would suggest to look at their website and know what time they have their talks and where, to plan for that.
The best part for us was at the end they have a bird show at 3pm where the trainers come out to show your a few if the species they take care of and your studio see how well the birds they have are trained. It's pretty impressive.
The downside is that it was a bit hot day and most animals are napping in the shade with their face hidden.
Perhaps it's better to buy tickets yourself instead of paying a tour company to take you. You will have more time to do as you please. The main issue you will have is how to get there.. but if you are local.. you probably won't have that issue ;)

Fantastic zoo to take your children to it has all the native animals and you can get a close encounter with some of them. Be careful to go on a hot day. It is pretty dry and can get pretty hot as you walk around. The place takes at least 3 to 4 hours to see if you want to visit every exhibit. The staff is friendly and there is a lot to see and do.
There are also baby change rooms located throughout the park so you can take your infants and babies with ease

We had a wonderful time at Healesville Sanctuary. The kids all enjoyed walking around looking at the animals.
The walking track was easy to navigate. The map and signage easy to follow.
Only one of the keeper talks occurred. Which was a shame as we walked to quite a few animals enclosure at the specified times.
The Bird Flight display was so good we went back for a second viewing later in the day.
All the nocturnal houses were wonderful and of course the animals were not affected by the weather. The platypus performed for us like he was putting in a private show.
A great family out. Would highly recommend.

This is an absolutely fantastic place to see Australian native animals! The sanctuary does not capture animals for the purpose of being in the zoo and all animals are rescue animals, once pets, or have various stories as to why they can not be released back into the wild.
You can tell all the keepers care deeply for the animals and the animals are all well looked after.
Clean, well maintained and a pleasure to walk around. Also was not crowded on the weekday that we visited.

This is very nice and educational. Don't worry about food and drinks; they have them there. Just prepare your legs for the long walk as you tour the area. The bird show is the best. I failed to see a few of the animals, though, as they were hiding. #nature #birds #animals #educational #longwalk #beautiful

Amazing little place to visit.
You don't need to pay extra for any of the events if you just want to pay entry and roam, we got to watch after they changed the food in the koala enclosure. Even though it was so hot they had fresh food so they ended up being very active.
The kangaroos normally come right up to you to say hi but in hot days they lay in the shade and sleep.
It's definitely a good place to visit whether you are with family, a partner or by yourself. Plenty to see and do.

I had a brilliant experience. Visited after about a decade. At places it felt like a zoo but overall could see the animals in their natural habitat. They are well looked after. Had conversations with the keepers and volunteers which displayed their genuine love for the animals in their care. The staff is friendly and accessible. The flight deck bird show was informative and exciting. Cafes and washrooms are well located. Not posting many photos as they are readily available on the net.

We can easily spend a day here. Most of the animals were on display and we could see many of them up close. The bird show was entertaining. There were also 1 or 2 children’s play areas and kids loved playing with the sand. There was a toilet near the kids’ play area which was convenient. The directions were very clear, placed throughout the place and hence, helpful to get around the sanctuary. Thanks.

It was an enjoyable day out from Melbourne. However, the sanctuary did not keep us occupied for more than two hours. Although not small, there were not many animals to see. What a great place for getting to know the Australian fauna.
Beautifully laid out sanctuary with plenty of space for the animals. For Europeans it’s a place of wonders as we’re not used to the extraordinary and unique fauna of Australia.
I always longed to finally see a Tasmanian Devil or an Echidna. There I had them all. The work they’re doing here is beautiful and important, so supporting the sanctuary is vital.
We could even witness an operation on a wedge-tail eagle who suffered from trauma. Where in this world are such things remotely possible? Just wonderful.
Loved every minute and would go there again any time we’re back in Australia.

We loved our visit to Healesville sanctuary! An easy drive from Melbourne; the sanctuary is a little outside of the township. We arrived to find loads of parking and quickly made our way to the entrance. Tickets prices are reasonable if you plan to spend the entire day visiting.
We spent a full and exciting day in this beautiful, peaceful setting observing animals in the natural environment. We were thrilled that some of the keepers spent quality time talking passionately about the animals and birds that were in their care.
Unfortunately we didn’t bring lunch with us and relied on the on-site cafe. The food is ok and a little over priced but we will definitely come back with our own picnic basket as there are many gorgeous spots to stop for lunch!
We also stayed for the Spirits of the Sky show. The show is located in flight arena with plenty of room for large sittings. The birds are incredibly well trained and are rewarded for their efforts!
A wonderful way to see Australian native flora and fauna. Great day out for all ages and it’s wheelchair friendly too!

Very nice zoo. Yes, they do animal rescue and breeding but they are a zoo. Animals were well cared for. Excellent staff, plenty of parking. A tad too much money for admission. Gift shop and refreshments are cashless. So if you have no card you are unwelcome. I tried to spend money, you know actual Austalian currency, in the gift shop but was rebuffed. Seems like a poor decision to lose 100-200 dollars because you won't accept money. 8$ for a magnet seems steep. Lovely place, will not return and do not recommend for those who still use money.
Maru Koala and Animal Park is a family-friendly attraction located just fifteen minutes from Phillip Island. Visitors can enjoy a range of animal experiences, including hand feeding and patting koalas, kangaroos, and wallabies. The park also offers the opportunity to meet rare albino animals and participate in regular keeper talks. Additionally, guests can have professional photos taken with the animals. In addition to animal encounters, the park features child-friendly entertainment such as mini-golf.
Love the place. It was excellent for children and the staff seemed like kind people who really love animal. When I went there, the weather was really hot but I still enjoyed looking at the wild animals, especially the koala. I just hope that they will be put in an air-conditioned area when the weather is too hot. Animal Welfare should precede guest's experience.
The kangaroo also seemed really relaxed at the area. There are also other interesting sections like the enclosure where the gliders and the possums are. It gave me a chance to witness animals in the dark.

For a small wildlife animal park, it has a nice country vibe to it. Very accommodating staff with an adequate cafeteria. Nice little side trip for the family on their way to or from Philip Island. Best day out. Started with Feeding the Koala Experience at 9am before 9:30am opening time. Koalas slowly woke up with new branches of leaves. Multiple varieties. Learned a lot about their individual preferences and characteristics. Super soft to touch and pat. Staff were super friendly and informative. We even got to hand feed the wallabies living in the same enclosure while the keepers cleaned and prepared the enclosure for the day. We thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary scones with jam and cream. A great range of native animals to observe, interact, or hand feed. Perfect family day out.

Our first time visiting Australia and I found this place online when I searched things to do. We had a great time! We purchased the tickets which included the mini golf which we absolutely enjoyed! Such a creative pirate themed game. Feeding the kangaroos, who were gentle was so much fun. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded. They also have a cafe with delicious ice cream. I would definitely recommend this place for good family fun! **Adding that this place is wheelchair accessible. My daughter uses a wheelchair due to limited walking however she opted to walk.

This is probably the best place in Victoria to see Koalas and feed kangaroos. The place is just before Phillip Island if you're coming from Melbourne.
If you want to get close to the Koalas, pat them and have photo opportunity, remember to purchase special ticket. General admission allows you anywhere including Kangaroo feeding, but except Koala close-up experience. The general ticket also allows you to play mini golf.
They also have white kangaroos (albinos) and they're quite tame. Other than that, they have other animals such as Tasmania Devil, Wombat, Dingos, Emus, a Pony and many more. It is like a mini zoo.
Overall, it is definitely a very good family friendly place, and a unique experience.

Great little stop off if you're passing through and need to fill time. Wouldn't make the trip specifically for a visit, as price tag is a bit high for what's on offer. Limited animals and mini golf is a bit dated, but the animals there, are well looked after and feeding the kangaroos is easy.
Would recommend taking your own food/drinks, as prices at Cafe are quite high.
Whole place can easily be done in an hour.

Good fun interesting pirate themed mini golf course with interactive sounds, water features and other surprises. Plenty of shade among the trees. Small playground for the little children, BBQ facilities and undercover tables and chairs. Gift shop and Cafe inside where our grand children had their Santa photos taken. We will definitely visit the wild life area on our next visit. Lovely big gravel carpark with overflow carpark available for extra busy days. Recommend for all ages.

We bought the entry as part of the Phillip Island Experience (PIE) package.
The park was not as huge as a zoo but everything was close enough and had good amount of presentations, which was fantastic for the kid because you didn't have to walk so much and still got to see so many animals and activities.
It also had an 18-hole minigolf. Great design and fun to play. It also had a kids playground.
The cafe was good and the food was not bad.
Can easily spend a couple of hours with the kids there.
At last, all the staff (esp. Becky) was EXCELLENT and helpful. They deserved all the awards in their cafe.

25 dollars for adult and 15dollars for children.
High recommend to buy kangaroo feedings brefore entering. This place was kinda so small that it took only thirty minutes to look around.
But it is great idea to visit here for a while if you are planning to visit philip island.

Fantastic zoo to bring overseas visitors looking to get up close to kangaroos and koala. Definitely recommended to head in at opening hours so kangaroos are still hungry, they might ignore you once they have had their fill. The kangaroos will eat from your hand and you can get some really good pictures with them! A must visit!

Fantastic animal park for young and old. Great to see all the Australian animal icons up close and being able to feed the kangaroos. Our visitors from abroad loved it.
Wilsons Promontory National Park is a well-known destination in Gippsland, boasting vast coastal wilderness covering 50,000 hectares. The park offers various recreational activities such as hiking, camping, and beach activities for tourists to enjoy the beauty of white sand beaches and eucalyptus forests while encountering an abundance of native wildlife. Most parts of the park are only accessible by foot with some of the best beaches being kept for those willing to put in extra effort.
Masterpiece of Mother Nature. Colourful beaches, rocks and greens make it complete. Camping, bush walking, hiking, fishing, boat rides, surfing, swimming and many more activities available. Breath taking drive and need to careful for the wildlife.
There are lots of places to stop and go for walks, and a variety of walks marked.

This place is truly a heaven on earth for nature lovers. You can not go to a better place than this in Victoria. Fantastic place. You will have everything here. Breathtaking views everywhere, plenty of gorgeous beaches, tons of scenic walking tracks suit every fitness levels and short to multiple day walkers. Hundreds of camping sites and all facilities for them. Yet very clean and inviting environment. Most importantly this place is great for everyone including kids. This is a must visit place for anyone visiting Melbourne.

I had the most amazing weekend getaway at Wilsons Prom with a camping trip at Tidal River Campground and a sea cruise! It was my first time, and I can't express how surreal and mesmerizing the experience was. 😇
Here are some quick tips:
1. Make sure to plan your trip on a warm and sunny day.
2. Book your camping spot well in advance, ideally 2-3 months ahead. I highly recommend Tidal River Campsite; it was peaceful, clean, safe, and comfortable. It has convenient & handy BBQ spots, laundry services, well maintained restrooms. We were lucky to secure a spot at the last minute.
3. It’s good idea to get cruise tickets a day before from the centre there or you can book in advance online, it’s around $150 pp for 2.5hr cruise ride but it’s worth the experience
For those, like me, who are new to sea cruises, here are some helpful tips to avoid seasickness:
- Have a light morning breakfast, and something with ginger can help.
- Choose seats in the middle at the back of the boat.
- Stay hydrated during the cruise.
- Take advantage of the sea sickness tablets provided by the staff.
- Use the boat's restroom or ask the staff for assistance if you start feeling unwell.
I must commend the boat staff for their exceptional support. I had a sudden bout of seasickness, and they took great care of me throughout the trip.
The views during the sea cruise were absolutely mind-boggling and scintillating. It's a must-try experience! Just remember to pick a warmer day, as it can get chilly and windy out there.

One of the most scenic spots in Victoria. Why? Because it has such a wide selection of different walks, beaches and scenery to choose from. It's a rich environment to explore and warrants more than just a day trip to start to comprehend what it has to offer. Sure, Squeaky Beach, in my mind at least, has turned into a 'been there done that' tourist destination but have you seen Tidal River? Norman Beach? Whisky Bay? all unique with wonderful scenery and less crowds. If you intend to visit, allow enough time to soak in all this National Park has to offer.

Absolutely magic part of the world. Both Oberon Bay and the East Coast camp-sites have their advantages. Roaring Meg is a great camp-site despite not being located on the coast. It has a creek running through it which is great to dip your toes in after a long walk. The Lightstation is a bit of a hike but well worth the walk. You can stay there overnight for a premium in a shared dorm like accommodation but you'd benefit from staying two nights to make the most of it. All water throughout the park needs to be treated and source vary in capacity. You'll also need to carry in your own toilet paper. The park is beautiful and is litter free... please do your bit to keep it that way.

This is a magnificent part of Australia. It has truly beautiful beaches with rock formations surrounding them. Very popular place for family trips and bbqs. A lot of walking trails are throughout the park, and the road there and in the park are very good.

Personally, one of my favourite place to visit in Melbourne. You can did a short hike on Mt. Oberon and once you arrive at the top you will be welcomed with beautiful scenery. Squeaky beach is also another must place to visit in this national park. View was breathtaking

Back to nature and beauty everywhere you look… as far as the eye can see! Real camping where people are up at 6:30 and heading out for a day of adventure amongst the 55,000 acre protected national parklands… with lights out and only the sounds of the most contented snore at 9pm

It is a great place for a bushwalk or camping holiday. However we have found extreme weather events are more common and we have had to cut holidays short the last 3 years. The weather can be amazingly wild. While the camping is booked out every summer there are illegal campers trying to get in but fines are heavy.

Simply beautiful! A little piece of paradise without leaving our shores! Get there early if you want a good car park as close as possible; it's a great day trip for the family.
Take sunscreen and aeroguard for the flies! Approx 200 meters walk from the closest car park. Toilet and shower facilities available

Wilson’s Promontory is the most beautiful place to visit in Victoria. Rain, hail or shine. There are walks for everyone. My suggestion is to hike to little Waterloo via sealers and refuge cove. If you have the extra funds definitely make the stop to stay at the lighthouse station. It really engages your parasympathetic nervous system

The best national park I’ve ever been to! Easy, medium & hard trails, there’s something for everyone. The accomodation is great too! Plenty of camping space, the self contained units are beautiful if you want a small accomodation and the log cabins are perfect for groups with kids. I’ve been 6 times in 3 years because it’s one of my favourite places! Could not recommend more

Its basically a collection of many good places. You can visit a good number of beaches, camping areas and even a small desert like place called the big drift. It's around 3-3.5 hours drive from Melbourne and you can enjoy some overnight camping.

Wilson's Promontory Park is an absolute gem located just a 3-hour drive from Melbourne. This stunning national park is a nature lover's paradise, with a plethora of hiking tracks, pristine white sand beaches, and breathtaking lookouts waiting to be explored. You could easily spend days immersing yourself in the beauty of this park. I highly recommend a trip to Wilson's Promontory for a perfect getaway. Whether you choose to book an Airbnb nearby or camp within the park itself, there are plenty of options available. Make sure to check out their website for more information - this is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of nature.

This place never disappoints; it has a clean environment, occasionally hikes aren't accessible due to the land slips, but this is common and quickly rectified. It smells great; like tea tree and river water. People are friendly, no aggression is heard here, like so many public places in cities. The temperature will be up to 5 degrees lower than in town, because of the wind factor. Bring BBQ food, it's more enjoyable than a packed lunch.
Inge Sagar — Google review
A 3+ hour drive from Melbourne, and well worth the effort. As you near 'The Prom' the views take you back in time, giving a prehistoric feel with untamed wilderness and landscapes.
The beaches are great for exploring, as are the many walking tracks. Can get quite windy at times, although we were lucky today!

Free to enter the park, and for those that are day tripping there is no restrictions on using the showers at Tidal River Campground. Take your swimmies - the sea can be mighty cold, but the river is often nice and warm and a great place for the kids to play. But really you can't do this place any justice in a single day and it probably needs a good three days to take in the area. Lots of walks that are very well marked out with well defined paths. From the easy amble (Lilly Pilly Gully) to the multi-night hikes around the remote beaches.

Nice place.to go in camping, so much exiting routes to go trail on.really nice colored water in the sea, nice to look at. Most of the long weekends it gets fully crowded though. We had to stay 50km away for the night because of last minute planing. But worth the journey. Toilet facilities are there at most carparks. Food and basic groceries can be get at the grocery shop next to the info center.

Absolutely stunning! Did the whole 10km hike with family. Such stunning views. So beautiful will not disappointment
Loved the chairlift and the perimeter walk. If you want something a bit less challenging I’d recommending going clockwise as counter clockwise has >100 steps. Other than that look outs and wild life were amazing
Courtney Boyd — Google review
Steep walk to the mountain but after coming to the top it's flat and easy walk and then we can take a 2 km circuit loop track to go via 4 lookouts if u have time. Depends on the wind direction, choose the right first or via versa. It's worth going.
Linh Le — Google review
This is great walk if your are in the area. It is steep from the case park to the top. Called the "Zig zag", it is about 450m from the car park to the top. There is a chairlift to the top but where is the fun in that? All paved and some hand rails. Take a bunch rests, enjoy the wonderful views as you go. At the top, there is a walk around the nut. This walk is fairly easy, well marked with some undulation but nothing like getting to the top. Sensational views in all directions. Some interesting facts on the way for kids. Takes about 1 hour all up. Take your time going down. You could easily get a head of steam up on the decline and hurt yourself.

Stanley the quintessential, off the Beaton track, town you might go to if not just to say ‘I’ve been there’ but to experience old work charm and the views are impressive from The Nut and up where the Stanley Historic House is.
Wish we could have stayed a couple of nights we only did a day trip.
Would be a perfect place to go to unwind for a time.

🌰The Nut is very steep. Walk slowly, you can still arrive! It's not hard at all - the beauty of each place is always changing - the roads are actually very well paved. The sea view from Nut is actually very beautiful - if you come to Stanley, you must visit🙂

The walk is a bit hard but not unduly so with lovely views and the reward is the wonderful 360 degree view of Stanley and Ocean.
Ross Daniels — Google review
You can either go up & down on the chairlift for $19 or one way for $12. We decided to walk up which was steep. At the top, there is a path on which you can walk around checking out all the beautiful views from every angle. We came down on the chairlift which was short but fun. Cafe and toilets located at the bottom and ample car parking. Drove a few hours to get here and it was well worth it!
Liisa Grace Baun — Google review
We loved Stanley and the chairlifts up The Nut and the walk around the top. So scenic across the ocean and interesting history. Great lunch at the hotel.
Julie Irwin — Google review
A spectacular view throughout the walk up & down and at the multiple vantage points at the summit.
When they say steep, they mean steep, so the chairlift is always a good option when operating.
Once at the summit the ~2km circuit provides undulating walking trails with varying surfaces.
There's also seats along the way to either rest or just take in the views.
Being exposed to the elements, the weather can change quickly, so best be prepared.

Fantastic panoramic views.
Steep 430m path or chairlift (if open) $12
Walking poles made the climb easy.
Easy walk track around the top offers different view points.

We’ll worth the steep hike up. Chairlift was not operating when we visited but that’s an easier option if you’re not a fan of steep climbs. Great views from the top and the trail around The Nut is an easy walk.
Alana Freeman-Angove — Google review
Wonderful place. The views were amazing however there was really strong wind. Definitely bring a jacket. Ride the chairlift not the “short, steep walk”.
Jayden Lee — Google review
We came up on the chair lift which definitely saved the calf muscles, it’s a steep walk, especially if you’ve just had a lunch of the areas fine seafood. The walk at the top circumnavigates the nut with some very special views in all directions of the compass along the way, it’s mostly exposed has regular seating and although there are some stairs on the fairly
Well maintained path it’s an easy walk. Well worth coming up here, a must do if your in Stanly.

The Makers' UTAS, located in Burnie, Tasmania, is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and those interested in traditional crafts. The workshop offers an engaging paper-making tour where experts use unique local fibers such as wombat poo, apple pulp, and rainforest leaves to create handmade paper using traditional methods. Visitors can explore the information center to gather details about various attractions in the area and enjoy a bite at the on-site cafe.
Information centre has plenty of information you can pickup on the different places you can visit while you're in Tassie. There is also a cafe you can have a bite to eat and the bit we enjoyed the most was all the hand made crafts you can see and buy. You may also have the chance to speak to the artist directly. Highly recommend you pop in.

Lovely wildlife sanctuary dedicated to Tasmanian devils and quolls. Loved the day feeding tour as it was very informative and after the talks you were able to wander around and explore the different enclosures by yourself. We went in the late afternoon (post cradle mountain walks) and found it to be the perfect way to finish off the day.

I was so pleasantly surprised! A must go to after spending the day in Cradle Mountain. We went here in the evening to catch the Devil Feeding session (which also included quoll feeding) and a very educational talk on both endangered species. Very much worth the time and great to learn about all the great conservation efforts they are involved with.

What a treat this was! We booked in for the 5:30 pm feeding which was perfect because it finished before it got dark, allowing us to get back to our accommodation with out any issues. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We got there early and were pleased to hear that Sanctuary entry was included in our tour ticket. It was great to see the tour guide - Dave - adjust the tour footprint to allow for maximum accessibility for wheelchair users.
This sanctuary is definitely worth the experience and chance to get up, close and personal with these stunning creatures 🙌

Definitely come here. The conservation efforts of the staff are to be commended, and they were all really friendly, knowledgeable and only too keen to answer question and were genuinely caring and appreciative of guests coming in and actually caring enough to stop-by.
Great to see the devils, as the chances of seeing in the wild are slim to none. They also have eastern and spotted tail quolls, both of which are worth seeing and learning about their plight in the wild.
If you love small cute things and wildlife come here. Day Keeper Rory took us on a very comprehensive tour and was clear and easy to understand and super friendly.
We also booked the Joey encounter, which again, was super cute and our guide was very personally invested, sharing how she hand raises the variety of joeys under her care, and keeping them with her 24/7 as she goes about her chores and errands.

We attended at the sanctuary on 1 January 2024 for a day entry and keeper tour. The facilities were really amazing.
Our zoologist tour guide showed us around the centre and his educational tour was really informative as to the complexities of the devils breeding, and the circumstances surrounding their decline into being declared at risk of extinction.
We also enjoyed seeing the spotted tail and eastern quall and his obvious affection for them was wonderful to see
should we ever be in the area again we will definitely come back for another tour

This was an awesome experience, and our first opportunity to learn about Tasmanian Devils, Quolls (which we didn't know much about until coming here!), the threats they face in the wild and what we are doing to help them out.
The keepers were incredibly friendly and educational. The animals were pretty active considering their normally nocturnal behavior, and we would highly recommend making a stop here if you want to learn anything about Devils or Quolls, or get an opportunity to see them at close.

We went to the feeding time tour and it was fantastic. Well worth the money, super informative, went for 90 mins, and we saw heaps of different Devils and Quolls eating various bits of animals. The keeper actually picked up one of the young ones she had hand reared and it was very cute. Great facility, but if it’s raining and cold bring a wet weather jacket!

We love wildlife parks and as far as they go this is one of the better ones. The enclosures were excellent, very spacious and lots of places for the critters to explore or hide.
Because it is close to Cradle Mountain it is a little more pricey than other similar parks that we visited but still well worthwhile.

Great place to get to know and see Tasmanian Devils and Quolls. They breed them here. Great talk by keeper who hugged a devil to her chest (she had raised it). Not recommended to try yourself. An astonishing experience and a must-see for all adventurous types. Make sure you are in reasonably good shape before embarking on this hike, there are some sections involving chain rope climbs and rock scrambles as you approach the summit.
My friend and I completed the Ronny Creek - Marion's Lookout - Cradle Summit - Hansons Peak - Dove Lake Circuit yesterday and were treated to near-perfect hiking conditions.

Very pleasant day trip at Cradle Mountain. We did the Crater Lake walk which was relatively straightforward and easy. Some inclines and descents but nothing too strenuous. Great day trip if you are staying near Launceston.
There is a 10-15m shuttle from the car park that takes you to various stop off points (visitor centre, etc) and ends at the Cradle Mountain hikes. After your hike you can shuttle back to the car park. Relatively busy but not too crazy even though we were there during the holidays. Once we got out on the hike it got much quieter too.
Had our eyes out for wombats, unfortunately didn't see any, but still plenty of critters and birds around. It was quite a hot morning so I imagine most were seeking shade.

Amazing place especially for hiking. Shuttle bus service is so convenient that bus will be available in every 10-15 mins. Some of the bus drivers are very friendly and funny with bear like Santa Clause. Beautiful people! Drinking water is available at Dove lake stop only. We did the circuit lake Dove > Wombat pool > Crater Lake > Marions Lookout > kitchen hut > Face Track > Lake Will > Dove Lake. Long hike took us 8h but beautiful views. Snacks and suncream are must-have. Layers are recommended as it’s windy sometimes

What a majestic mountain and must-see Tasmanian attraction! The temperamental weather makes for many adventure opportunities. Over the years I've seen sunshine, rains, winds, snow and more sweep across Cradle. Always come prepared! There are plenty of ways to tailor your walking routes based on the conditions. The Dove Lake circuit is by far the easiest, but I love the view and challenge of Cradle, Marion's Lookout and Hanson's Peak. The last time I visited we were lucky to stay in Scout Hut. Definitely pack light for the Hut, and don't expect reception or wifi, but enjoy the smog covered surrounds as you sleep in the clouds! The information centre has been renovated in recent years and is great to stop by on your way up and down.

Absolutely stunning. Luckily had fantastic weather. Was only planning on doing the short walks, but 5 hours & two numb feet later, I was so stoked with how the day turned out. It's very easy to turn left instead of right and you are guaranteed to get rewarded for your efforts. The landscapes change in an instant. I saw all ages on the walks, but the steep parts ARE steep, with plenty of uneven ground. However, take your time, ask questions of the other hikers (always got some helpful info) and carry at least one big water bottle minimum.
Purchase a park pass ($26 for an adult), leave your car at the visitor centre and catch the shuttle that's available at all the stops every 15 minutes.
Also, I was lucky enough to see the quadfecta of animals; A wombat, echidna, snake (sleeping) and some wallabies.
Definitely factor Cradle mountain in when visiting Tassie.

Our one-night stay at the hotel was absolutely fantastic! The staff at the concierge, bar, and restaurant were so attentive and friendly, providing us with seamless and top-notch service.
The vibe all around was fantastic, offering spots to hang out and have a blast with friends and family. Oh, and they even threw in a pool table for some extra fun! 🎱🎉
We had a blast at the dinner and breakfast buffet – it was a real culinary adventure! However, here's a little food for thought: the hotel could spice things up even more by expanding the à la carte menu to make sure all our vegetarian pals feel just as pampered. 🍽️🌱
What really stood out was that the hotel had EV charging available. Since we were cruising in a Tesla, this was a major help and convenience for us. 🔌🚗
Oh, and by the way, in the Cradle Mountain area, only Telstra and Optus seem to have mastered the art of mobile network coverage. So, we became best buddies with the hotel's WiFi, even though it played a bit hard to get in the quality department. 📶😕
Well, our bathroom also had a surprise guest – a spider! I guess that's just our forested hotel's way of saying, "Welcome to our cozy critter club!" 🕷️
Overlooking these minor hiccups, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and may consider extending our visit for more days in the future.

Stunning views if u track up to higher altitudes!
There are many trails with vary difficulties.
Some of the trails are difficult and scary.
I tried the face track and it was really tough and scary as the track hugs the edge of the cradle mountain...
Try the overland track as it is generally easier.
My advice is to follow the tracks poles closely and they do appear every 10 m or so.
I nearly got lost as I didn't tag along the poles..

A wonderful place with numerous hiking trails and shuttle buses to dove lake and cradle mountain.
Nandhinipriya Giri — Google review
This is a must-see whilst visiting Tasmania. If you have time, slow down and stay at least two nights to give you plenty of time to do the hikes and explore the mountain. The Dove Lake Circuit is lovely but note there are still many steps to climb (allow 2.5 - 3 hours to do this walk). If you are in a hurry, you could just head to the Boat Shed (10 minutes from start of walk) and then to head to Glacier Rock (another 10 minutes).
Kelly Zee — Google review
Awe inspiring views. It rained, hailed and snowed all within the 2hrs. The sun did come out as well. Bring a raincoat in case. We completed the 6km circuit in 2hrs and stopped off several times to take pictures. They recommend 2-3hrs. We managed to see wombats and bandicoots along the way.
The bus drivers are very friendly and Knowledgable.
Purchase your park pass and you can catch the bus to different locations to start your walk. It was about $52 for 2 adults which included the bus. There’s a small cafe which you can purchase snacks, pies, sausage rolls and drinks. There are toilet facilities at Dove lake and the information center.

Checking in, parking car and locating cabin was all a simple process, Staff and passengers were all friendly.
Being on the ship felt like being in a moving car. Eventually, walking around became challenging, funny and almost difficult to balance. Lots of rails to hold on too🤪
Motorcycle video games on ship... were extra fun😁
Was blessed with a cabin in the middle of ship, so I slept comfortably and peacefully unlike some others😬
Extremely windy whist on deck, making it hard to take clear pics😏
Pets welcomed on board, but are caged and no access to visiting is permitted☹
Definitely will experience this kind of travelling again😁 thanks to all staff who were on board 19-12-21🤗 awesome experience

Good service, people on board are very nice and helpful. Seats are pretty comfy although after so many hours you start needing a change of position and would love to lay down or something, I guess booking the recliners could be a good option but still 100% doable without them, specially if you are on a budget and want to save that money.
Food on board is pretty cheap ($12 pizza, $4,5 coffee, $7,5 burger)
Anto Nella — Google review
The ship is fine. The amenities aren't bad and the restaurants and bars are ok.
What really subtracted from the experience is that there is no support for public transportation at either of the two ports. You have to walk very long distances with your luggage on both sides. If you don't come with a car, rather fly or find alternative transportation.
Wilhelm van Rooyen — Google review
We had a day sailing from Devonport to Melbourne. The boarding was very late and ship departed late as well. Food wasn't great on deck 10 and pizza was horrible. It was fully crowded due to holiday season. There was shotage of staff and existing staff were trying their level best to do everything they can. Cleaning can be improved further. We got some chairs at different places. More comfy seating facility can be provided. Eventhough we tried to book recliners they were not available. It reached Melbourne on time and disembarking was fine.

The Spirit is a good way to travel to and from Tasmania and bring your own vehicle and van. Friendly staff. Good cabins to sleep and arrive fresh either to Devonport or Geelong, where the new terminal makes loading and unloading easier.

My second trip on the cruise and quite enjoyable if you're travelling daytime. Easy directions and hasslefree check in and parking on the decks. Check ind open 2.5 hours before and closes 45mins before the departure time. Restaurants are good with reasonable menus, 29 AUD for an adult if you use buffet. Also there's separate shop where you could buy hot pastries and cold sandwiches with drinks. Ample space for dining. Excellent customer service throughout. Recliner lounge chairs are quite reasonable and you can book them for free, better than staying on other lounge areas. I've travelled in cabins before but I'd prefer recliner lounge given its comfort and convenience.

Brilliant both night sailings over and back - firstly you have fantastic staff from booking to loading us on in our motor home - our cabin was covid clean and made us feel secure and safe - Please pass this on as Your staff really need to know what a great job they’re doing!

Wonderful cruise! Quite organised in terms of boarding. Takes a while, but it’s quite a ship full of passengers and vehicles. Dining arrangements were a bit confusing as a first timer.

Good cabins, nice food and a good selection at the bar. Can't complain about anything. Great alternative to flying from Sydney if you want to take your own car, van, bike etc.

My first trip ever on a ship. Didn’t know what to expect but was blown away how good it was. The crew were great, the food was simple & well cooked. The Deluxe room was a delight. Just one negative the mattress on the queen size bed wasn’t on par. In fact they really need to upgrade the mattress’s. My Deluxe room was 7005.

The experience is great if you lower your expectations. It's not a cruise. It's a ferry with accommodation. You need to pay for almost everything especially food and entertainment inside the ferry. It's comfortable but the price could be lower though. Paid more than $1,700 for 2 people + 1 baby and normal car for return ticket. It's after a $500 government subsidy. The terminal in Geelong is new so there are a lot of amenities. Do not come too early. It will be more enjoyable if you come 90 minutes before boarding so you don't have to wait too long.

Enjoyable experience on the Spirit. From Geelong we did night sailing so had a cabin. Bed was so uncomfortable. Hard as a rock. No sleep. Coming back we had a day sailing so we just found a comfortable spot and settled down for the 10 hour trip. Went to cinema passed a few hours. We got breakfast after we boarded from the buffet part the Tasmanian kitchen I think it is. Steer clear of the egg and bacon rolls they are as hard as a rock also. I didn't eat the roll. Didn't want to break a tooth. But otherwise all good.

We have been coming across to Tasmania since 2017, we flew once and it was a horrible flight 🤢, we then decided to try the Spirit and it was nicer, we eventually upgraded to a cabin which I highly recommend for the price, much better in a rough ride, not hearing and seeing other people throw up🤮🤢. We unfortunately did the trip where there was 12 foot waves and that was terrible 😢🤮🤢🤕🥴, fortunately we don’t have many of those and we feel much more relaxed when we get off at the other end. If the Spirit people are reading this, please please please 🙏🏻 do scones with jam and cream every sail, we only had it once and it was amazing as an afternoon treat, the food onboard isn’t anything exciting but scones was 😂🤣😅

Driving on and off the ship is made so effortless by the really helpful loading guides. They clearly and cleverly guide you on and off. Can't thank them enough!

Had an amazing time, everything very efficient. Ate at the buffet Restaurant, lovely food, but fill your plate as you can't go back for seconds. Free soft drink included. Staff on board were so very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Cabins are very comfy, you can set your cabin temperature. Bathrooms in the cabin are a good size and the showers have good water pressure. Lots of interesting things to do, eat, and drink, plus a kiddie play area too. Pizza available on deck 9... would definitely go on it again!!! Had a great time!

I enjoy sailing with the spirit, I always sail at night and take my car always. Great value and drive on and off each way a bonus.
It’s a beautiful track and most of it is properly paved. We were lucky and went when the sun was out and there was no rain. Parts of the path can be flooded during/after rain so be prepared in case of weather changes.
N Chan — Google review
An amazing experience. We trekked around this in late August and only passed two other adventurous souls on the 2hr+ hike. The weather was cold, wet and snowy and it was breathtaking. A bit slippery in places due to the thick snow cover but e wouldn’t have had it any other way. I definitely recommend going during the winter as opposed to the summer for the isolation and scenery.

Full circuit took us 2 hrs 30 mts at an average rate. Beautiful views Mountain covered by clouds on the day we went.
Roger Van Gramberg — Google review
My son and I did this walk and what ever the other one was half way round circit, there's a path that goes up...we went half way and came back down as the weather was turning.
Absolutely LOVED every second! Just stunning scenery! Beautiful beautiful place! I'm so thankful to have experienced it!
Sarah Wilkes — Google review
This is one of those circuits where you get spoilt by choices. Every further step you take treats you with the amazing lake - snowcapped mountain landscape. A day is not enough for this circuit. It is much more invigorating than what you see in the photos. This awakes the poet inside you.
Few things to note -
1. As it is an high alpine region, weather changes pretty quickly. Prepare and wear accordingly.
2. Whether you are completing full circuit or not, do mention your name in the log book.
3. Strictly follow all the guidelines. Be smart than stupid.

Such a great walk around Dove Lake which will take anything between 2 to 3 hours through some of the most scenic area of Cradle Mountain and the forest that surrounds the lake. You will get great views of the surrounding mountains and CradleMountain itself with some waterfall views coming down the mountain around about an hour into the walk and also brings you past the boat shed. There is sections where you get plenty of steps that vary from boardwalk through to stone steps The track does vary in sections between a walkway to gravel so good shoes are ideal.
Peter Lowden — Google review
Was raining the day we went up there, then got heavier so didn't do the other tracks but it's still a great track to walk IF you brought your rain gear and boots! Quite a few madmen/women walking in shorts or leggings and looking like they were not having a great time.....or setting off late enough in the day to make me think they won't get back till the sun goes down... But if you've got half an idea it's an easy proposition!
lex n — Google review
Takes quite a while to complete the walk (about 2 hours) but along the way, you get so many nice views. The walk itself is also quite demanding along some sections. Make sure to wear warm clothes as despite the demanding walk, it can get quite chilly. Would definitely recommend checking this out if you are planning to go to Tasmania for holiday.
Conn Xu — Google review
Iconic walk and a must do. Travel in clockwise directions to get incredible views on the first half of the walk. We did the walk with a 6yo in about 2.5 hours including many photo stops and time at the little beaches.

I wish I can give 10 ⭐⭐⭐ for this place... The place offers breathtaking views... The beauty changes with the changing weather... It was a cloudy day when we visited there but I'm sure the beauty during clear skies might be equally breathtaking.... The circuit is pleasant walk... We visited during Christmas and we were really blessed with great weather... The weather here changes quickly so reserve an additional reserve day if you don't want to miss this amazing place... Visit to Tasmania can't be complete without visiting this heavenly place.

Barry Gordon — Google review
In reality a fine day is a must, while the lake itself is beautiful, a major highlight is the stunning mountain scenery and to be real, the only reason people come here is to see cradle mountain standing tall behind the lake. That said the walk around the lake is magical. It’s on formed tracks, not to steep, around 150m elevation gain over the 6km circuit. If you were rushing you could do it with a few photo stops in an hour or so, much better to allow 3 and spend time relaxing and taking it all in at the many magical places along the way. The track is always close to the lake with stunning scenery and photo opportunities the whole way. The process of getting to the start of the walk from the car park at the visitor centre (there is a cafe and toilets) is pretty straightforward. Buy your bus ticket and off you go. Shuttle buses seem to depart about every 10 minutes or so, stop at the various trail heads along the way and depending on people getting on and off along the way it takes around 20mins. When you arrive at the bus stop there are toilets, use these as you won’t find anymore. If you don’t want to do the whole walk there is a beautiful lookout only 15mins or so from the bus stop, take the clockwise path. Alternatively if you go anticlockwise you’ll get to the boat shed. Both have brilliant photo opportunities. As this is a very popular spot go as early as possible, it can get vey crowded, particularly at the boat shed.

Dove Lake Cct, Cradle Mountain TAS 7306, Australia
Funky attraction featuring 8 outdoor garden mazes & a whimsical, 1/5th-scale model village.
I really enjoy this place. We were prompted to go her after watching the travel guides. Entry was simple, there is no need to prebook. The mazes are good fun with plenty of activities especially for the kids. There are plenty of signs with witty remarks on them. A lot of work was put into designing the mazes and the miniature village. It is out of the way but we merged it with a trip to Cradle Mountain so it worked well. There is plenty of parking and the gift shop is interesting. It is a pity the founder has passed because we would really have loved to meet him. His quirkiness is evident throughout the site including the witty signs but also in the Tasmazia miniature embassies and township. I particularly liked the Iceland, Poland and the made up Embassies. There is a cafe on site but unfortunately it was closed the day we were there. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

We went 20yrs ago and compare to now, they kept the place really well. It's a pity that the lavender farm do not have any more flowers. The mazes trimmed beautifully. There's few mazes for different age group to explore and lose yourself in this magical experience.

Our family had a fun day at Tasmazia recently. This was our second time visiting, our boys 7&10 enjoyed it the first time and requested it on next trip to Tasmania. The staff are very friendly, the mazes were lots of fun and the little houses are very cool. I noticed that QR codes have been added to many of the little houses and tell a short story of the house. We all found that very interesting.
The only downside was that the menu has been scaled back, not as many lunch options. I had a delicious sweetcorn and chicken soup with warm damper.
We will definitely be back 😊

Nicely done and well maintained place. It's got something for all kids. Must visit if you are around Sheffield. Mini Embassies of various countries are very cute.
Little town of crackpot is just that.
It was warm day when we visited had Lavender ice cream which was yummy!!!
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Lots of things to see. I especially liked their embassy garden. Most of their mazes are reasonably easy. Hampton Court was the only one we didn't conquer. Nice location, sign posted from Sheffield. None of us enjoyed the food. None of my group would recommend their pancakes. Whether we picked the wrong day.
Vicki Bell — Google review
Went on a cold winter day less than 10C. Bit chilly but did enjoy our hour there. Even though we spent almost an hour driving there. The maze were good fun, the jokes were a nice touch. Lots of good things to see. Our 2yo didn't understand much of it but still had a good time exploring. We saw lots of wallaby in the maze, that was fun! No lavender as well, maybe due to season. But the view there were breathtaking. Not much around, we went to Sheffield for lunch afterwards.
Ricky L Gu — Google review
It was surprisingly good, like a lot better than I expected, my 8yo had a blast in the mazes, we got lost multiple times and my suggestion is got to the toilet before you enter as trying to get out of a maze when you need a toilet is not cool. Food was very quick a reasonable, all staff were lovely
Tiffany Rose — Google review
This was such a fun experience (which was unexpected as 2 adults)! The detail included in the paint work is incredible, and we very much enjoyed having a chuckle at the audio clips attached to each of the village houses. Wish we could have spent more time here (but do keep in mind the jokes and houses were conceptualised by a boomer who seems to be a bit religious, so they aren’t very PC- but hey isn’t that the charm of things like this?).
WAY better than Canberra’s Cockington green
Lizzie Garling — Google review
Absolutely enjoyable for both adults and kids! The best maze complex we have been to, as there is plenty to see and funny things to discover along the way. The larger mazes were quite challenging but didn’t feel ‘trapped’ as there were jokes along the way to keep us entertained. Was also delighted to see a few pademelons along the way.
The Village of Lower crackpot and Embassy Gardens were quirky and entertaining to explore. A lot of thought has gone into creating each exhibit. We had a lot of fun, both young and old. There are also great views of Mt Roland from the ‘Village’. The lavender farm was lovely but only small.
Many areas are sunny so be prepared with sun protection. To enjoy the maze, one needs to have enough time.

We went here in July 2021, great place to take the kids, we had lots of fun.
I would give 5 stars but the employee seemed a bit dishonest
Before leaving I place a bar of lavender soap on the counter, the employee moved it to the cash register as he rang it up and left it there, I had to reach over to pick it up, not sure whether he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing or was trying to see if I forget about the soap like I did with the book. Just odd that he didn’t place the soap back on the counter once paid.
And He kept the let’s go kids book that I had when I first walked in, I was annoyed once I realised that night, but I managed to find a replacement.

Unique place to visit, one of the best days out. Awesome fun for adults and kids alike.....amazing mazes and beautiful little buildings throughout, also has a cute cafe with awesome food. A must visit for anyone nearby only 40m drive from cradle mountain.

We had a great time!! 2 adults and 2.5 year old. Seemed expensive at $60 entry but we spent nearly 4 hours there. We saved money by packing a picnic, but the café food looked delicious so next time we will treat ourselves. The facilities are great, clean and new looking. We will definitely go back here. My only complaint is that the largest maze was quite a concern with all the sticks poking out, my toddler was running around and I was worried he would poke an eye out.

This is really good fun! Big mazes with plenty of quirky humour to go with it - the kids absolutely loved it. There was a good selection of mazes and other interesting bits to look at - with some local paddymelon to keep the kids entertained too. The cafe was also really great - their pancakes and scones were absolutely brilliant - toasted sandwiches great too.
Highly recommended for a bit of family fun!

Great experience in the maze and absolutely loved the puns, banters and sacarsm posts within the maze 🤣
$30 per adult and various prices for kids and family.
Plenty of wildlife and birds to see.
The tiny buildings and embassies were amazing.
Lavender was in its early bloom despite being in mid December.
Overall a great walk, exercise, bonding time and a way to spend the day.
Bonus 'scones on steroids' at the cafe for $12 was a well deserved reward!!!!

MUST SEE!! Absolutely amazing. No pun intended. This was one of the best attractions our family visited in Tassie. Incredibly unique. The staff were super helpful and so friendly. The prices were fair. The facilities were great. The cafe was clean and the food was really yummy. Something to do for everyone. Cannot recommend this attraction enough. Absolutely recommend especially if you have kids. So much to see and explore! The kids especially loved the embassies and the little town with cubby houses and tree house. Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Mole Creek, Tasmania, is a renowned wildlife conservation center that offers daily tours to visitors. Since 1985, it has been a popular destination for observing native Tasmanian species such as the iconic Tasmanian Devils. The sanctuary provides an opportunity to get up close and personal with kangaroos and ducks while enjoying the natural environment.
Very well maintained. Great job they are doing there regarding native Australian fauna conservation. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The animal tours of the quoll, Tass devils and wombats were very well conducted.

My two children (15 and 9) and I visited today. We followed the 1pm tour and enjoyed learning about some of the animals. The tour was the perfect amount of time, not to long and not to short. The sanctuary was really open (free roaming animals and the ones secured away for safety). The kangaroos were the fan favourite for my children and I but I also loved the Tasmanian devils. They weren't hiding away and we could get up and close (safely) to them. I feel it is the perfect environment for if one needs to relax and enjoy the surroundings and animals - there is seating to do so. A calming environment and the staff are really friendly. Highly recommend a visit. Suited for all ages.

We enjoyed it 15 years ago, and enjoyed even more today with kids.
We loved the low key nature of Trowunna, hand feeding birds and kangaroos, plus the very informative tour/talk included in the entry price. More sanctuary than commercialised tourist trap.

Good zoo, Good tours. Although a safety hazard for tourists is that there is no sign saying not to pat the Tassie devils as it has occurred before and injuries have happened. Overall 3.5 stars out of 5

We like the tour as it is very educational for tourists like us and if was an eye opener when the tasmanian devils was fed a carcass. We also get a chance to feed kangaroos and stroke animals. The free tour is a must and purchase the feed to make it a complete experience.

Trowunna Sanctuary is an exceptional wildlife sanctuary with a focus on the Tasmanian devil, and it offers an incredible experience for an affordable price. With an entry fee of less than 30 bucks, visitors can embark on daily free tours guided by knowledgeable experts. These tours provide an up-close encounter with remarkable creatures like wombats and Tasmanian devils, allowing visitors to pet and interact with them.
The dedication and professionalism displayed by the staff at Trowunna Sanctuary are commendable. They not only facilitate these unforgettable encounters but also educate visitors about the risks posed by cats to wildlife. By raising awareness about the dangers of toxoplasmosis, they highlight the need to keep cats from roaming freely, as they can pose a significant threat to kangaroos, koalas, and Tasmanian devils.
For a small additional fee, visitors can purchase food to feed the park's wildlife. This offers a unique opportunity to interact with kangaroos, which are accustomed to being fed by people and pose no danger.
Trowunna Sanctuary is an exceptional sanctuary that combines education, conservation, and hands-on experiences. It's a place where visitors can connect with fascinating creatures and support their conservation efforts—a truly worthwhile and memorable experience for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Had a great break driving back from cradle mountains to Launceston. The keepers are well informed and very friendly. Had a great time with the devil's and the Wombats. My favourite was the tawny frog mouth. Wait until it opens its beak. Thanks to all at the zoo for their good work and to help out our animal friends and maintain balance on this planet.
I would have liked a cafe overlooking the bird sanctuary or similar and think would been a great income for the zoo.

If you get to be part of a group tour, it's totally worth it for the experience of petting a Tasmanian Devil and a wombat. Feeding the wallabies and kangaroos was fun. A few cool birds roaming around and in cages. Generally you'll be done in an hour.

Privatly run Australian wildlife sanctuary.
Great gift shop and feed available for some of the friendly animals.
Interactive tours 3 times a day. You're able to get up close with some of the cutest animals.
You're free to wander at your own pace too, just expect some slightly rough, hilly terrain, theres no paved paths, its all natural.
Kangaroos are very chilled and able to be fed and patted.
Not far out of the town of Mole Creek or the caves if you want to do some exploring.

The facility is wheelchair-friendly with a great gift shop and cafe on-site.

Very interesting tour, definitely something different - never thought I would hold a seahorse! The tour was a great opportunity to learn about the seahorse breeding lifecycle from young to when they are full size and shipped off around the world. Our guide was super lovely and knowledgeable. Perfect experience for kids and adults. Make sure to book the tour online earlier if you’re on a time schedule. Also helps with planning times if you’re looking to visit the platypus and echidnas next door as well (another attraction in the area). There’s also a gift shop, simple cafe upstairs and a very small and basic chocolate shop upstairs.

If you love seahorses, this place is worth a visit. Perfect indoor activity for a rainy day especially. We arrived at 3pm but as we didn’t pre-book, the tour was already full so we had to wait until 4pm till the next one. Very informative and you even have the opportunity to touch a seahorse if you wish.

Seahorse World is a great place to see amazing seahorses! It's located in a beautiful valley called Tamar Valley. They have special tours where guides teach you all about seahorses, how they live and grow, and how we protect them. Tickets are affordable for families, and there's plenty of parking. You can even see a scenic river! A family ticket is only $69, which is a good deal. After the tour, there's a cafe where you can relax and grab a bite to eat. If you love nature and want a fun family outing, Seahorse World is a must-see!

Such a great place and the host was such a character! My goodness I want all the seahorses. All of them. You can really tell they care and put all their time and effort into these little guys. Absolutely worthy of all the tourism dollars in our opinion. And you get to hold them!! Have I mentioned that?! How cool!

We stopped here because someone recommended to us to have a look at Seahorse World. I am so glad we did. The tour was amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. It was very interesting to learn about different kinds of seahorses and seadragons. It was also fascinating to see the different tanks of potbelly seahorses at different stages of life and learn about the food they eat. They also have an area where you can hold a seahorse if you wish. They also have some other interesting fishes you can look at. The gift shop is also good and reasonably priced. The entry tickets were also very well priced. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Seahorse World & the Southern Ocean Aquarium is located at Beauty Point in West Tamar, not far from Beaconsfield, Tasmania.
It is positioned in a stunning location on the west bank of the Tamar River and located on a wharf.
We were not sure of what to expect, and what we got was better than we thought. It is definitely different and quite interesting. They are delightful creatures, and I could watch them for ages. Their antics are quite funny.
The guided tour is 45 minutes. It is probably worth checking ahead to both book, and find out the time of the tour. Their gift shop is quite extensive but more importantly they sell Anvers Chocolate there.
If you are in West Tamar, definitely pop in and see both Seahorse World and Platypus House as they are on the same docks at Beauty Point. Beaconsfield Mine Museum is just down the road, too. We did both Seahorse World & Platypus House in one visit.

Not just a tourist attraction, but a real working seahorse farm... absolutely fascinating.

We had a great time at Seahorse world. The tour guide was really nice and super knowledgeable. So many seahorses and other cool sea creatures too. The displays look awesome as well.
All the animals are happy, healthy and thriving. It's nice to see such a passionate tourguide telling us all about the seahorses!
The only thing that was a bit off putting was one of the staff members when we arrived. We had a tour booked for 10am and we were tracking well to arrive at 9:45 but unfortunately our little almost 2 year old was carsick on the way. This meant we had to stop, help her etc before getting there at 10:05. When I said we were here for the tour the guy just said "well you're late" in such a scowling way with lots of attitude. I explained what happened, not that I should have to because it's on me if I miss some of the tour, and we joined the tour to see we didn't miss much at all.
It was unnecessary and thankfully the rest of the tour was awesome because that definitely wasn't a nice way to start the visit.

Very interesting display to visit when in Beauty Point Tasmania. Get up close and personal with Seahorses and other sea creatures. The tour was great and the guide explained the whole breeding process very well. They have an excellent souvenir shop as well with a great range of items to peruse and purchase.

Very informative place, good for children ages 7 and up. Real young kids will find it hard to stay focused during the tour. They need more hands on activities for kids. We had a good time though and well worth the money. You have to go on the tour so make sure you find out the times they are going or there is a 30min wait until the next one.
kyle stratton — Google review
Seahorse World is informative and obviously very skilled at their breeding program as there were thousands of seahorses. Seeing so many in one tank was an odd experience and changed the way I see these fish. Being able to hold them though was novel and we enjoyed seeing the other fish too.
Website booking system doesn’t match their tour times and we had to wait for a tour, even though we turned up on time.

What an amazing experience, I can’t believe I got to hold a sea horse. Great tour and excellent displays. Definitely a great place to visit.
Jacinta Dzioba (Jazz) — Google review
My wife and I visited here and were simply fascinated by the displays. Our guide was a fountain of knowledge. This would be great for families. There are literally thousands of seahorses to see, from tiny babies up to large adults, and in a range of colours and varieties.
One of the highlights of the tour is where you can actually cradle a seahorse in your hand and pose for a photo.
This experience exceeded our expectations. And its right next door to Platypus World.
Graham Brown — Google review
We came as a family of 4, the tour guide was okay for the 45min tour on the hour. They had a great range of seahorses but breed the "potbelly" which is local to the waters and showed you steps from breeding to export. At no stage were we offered to hold a seahorse like others had previously in their reviews. There was also a couple of other tanks with fish and sharks, and the "Weedy Seadragons", now they are stunning creatures.
Gift shop was great with gift shop pricing. My only small issue is the price of entry. At $24 per adult was a bit rich and should realistically be around the $17 mark.
Did I enjoy it...yes
Would I recommend...yes but note about entry price.

This was fantastic! Tours run every hour for approx 45 minutes, allow an hour for questions and further Seahorse watching. Our tourguide was very passionate and knowledgeable, there was nothing he couldn't answer. If you are doing platypus house (you should), take time to browse shop and have a hot drink so you don't have to rush between buildings.
You should book in advance as spots on tours are limited.

An amazing experience, thank you James for answering all our questions.
Where else can you see so many beautiful Seahorses and have chance to hold one.
A must visit to learn about Seahorses breeding and intelligence!!!

Agree with other comments, definitely a Seahorse Farm and some questionable ethical issues. My partner and I were really excited having heard about Seahorse World from friends, so made the effort to check it out on our short trip to Launceston but unfortunately both left feeling deflated.
The guides and staff were friendly and facilities fine, but the lack of conservation message is very apparent. And there’s also a clear lack of what sustainable / responsible aquarium pet ownership is. Should just anyone be allowed to own a seahorse?
The tank features with plastic netting and rope seems way off base considering the global marine plastic pollution crisis, might be sending the wrong message.
If you are a lover of ocean creatures and don’t support captive breeding for profit, this place isn’t for you.

We absolutely LOVED this tour. Such an incredible story, heaps of new facts learned and beautiful seahorses. The kids loved the interactive nature, and their highlight was definitely holding the seahorses and hermit crabs. I never caught our tour guides name but with her beautiful fluro orange hair, she fit in perfectly to the surroundings 😊
We feel honoured to have had the opportunity to visit The Wall. It has been a true highlight of our holiday in Tasmania and was quite moving. We took in all the detail of each panel and are absolutely entranced by the magnificent sculpting of Greg Duncan.
The gallery building in which The Wall is housed is magnificent in itself. As you are not allowed to take photos inside, we have bought the three books and look forward to reading these and viewing all the photos thoroughly.
The snow on the gallery building was an added bonus.
Thank you Greg Duncan.

Visiting the Wall in the Wilderness will give you an appreciation of the dedication to the area, not only of the artist who has spent many years on this artwork, but also to the people of the area who are depicted on the wall. I won’t say you should but if you are near the Highlands or travelling to Strahan, visit once to pay respect to the Artist and his Arts.
Note:- You can’t take the picture inside, so sorry.

Stunning presentation. It's hard to fully appreciate the talent, vision and skill to create this hand carved, historical narrative picture wall.

The artwork on the Wall is truly amazing, reflecting immense dedication and hard work. It's important to note that this is a self-funded project, adding to the appreciation of the artist's commitment. The emotional impact is palpable, considering the many years invested in bringing this project to life.

AMAZING place!! You really have to see it to appreciate the work and detail which has gone into it. I loved how the story started, but the second side of the Wall is quite emotional and a story told in carvings in such detail.

Well worth the visit. It is just stunning the amount of detail in each carving. No photos allowed at all which just about killed me.
We didn't book but in busy times you'd need to. Could do with a basic cafe that has a few choices. Small sparse gift shop.

The Wall was recommended by a friend so as we were staying at Lake St Claire lodge we thought we would visit. IT WAS A “WOW”. Greg Duncan’s sculptures are magnificent. The detail makes the exhibit look life like. It is a wonderful exhibition showcasing the skills of this extremely talented Australian. A must visit!

This is my second visit to "The Wall". I would not visit Tasmania without including this attraction on my "to do" list. We were fortunate enough to be there at the half way mark & engrave our name on the "panel" to commemorate this milestone. It was great to see it up now as part of "The Wall".
Nowhere else have I seen/experienced anything quite like "The Wall". Huge talent but done with respect & feeling. Clearly reflecting emotion, love of history & environment. The story is clearly told & if you take it in, you will FEEL it.
Mary Bishop — Google review
The wood sculptures here are astounding. Greg achieves a truly lifelike feeling to his work. The lighting is just right, from a distance you'd think it was a rendering, but up close the detail is astounding. And the way he has left some works in different stages of completion gives you insight into his process.
Can highly recommend a visit.

What a truly beautiful experience enveloped in the scents of Huon pine and the exquisite artistic talents of Greg Duncan in the story & timber panels of The Wall. It’s well worth the long trip to Derwent Bridge. Sit in awe at his realism and beauty, enjoy a drink in front of the fire. Unfortunately the cafe was closed but food and drink is available nearby or in Miena.

Talent at its best. The whole family enjoyed walking around the gallery, each of us noticing something special that caught our eye. The attention to detail has to be seen to be believed.
Galley is right off the highway and takes about 30mins to enjoy. Bookings are essential.

Absolutely fascinating to see the results of talent. A masterpiece of story telling on timber. If you visit on a cold dress warm as it is an enormous building. Since you can't take photos, take time to reflect on the past lives of the pioneer people.

WOW, just WOW a must see exhibit if your in Tassie. This place is just mind boggling, the years and years of effort, I wish I could take a little piece home with me. You could easily spend hours here, enjoying the artistry and story behind it all. Make sure you pre- purchase tickets so you don’t miss out.
Jacinta Dzioba (Jazz) — Google review
Great artist and amazing artwork to look at and have a read through. However, we were a family traveling with children. And the kind of looks we received by both staff and others at the exhibition as our 2 year old was talking was disgusting. I completely understand respecting others around us and being respectful of the artwork. But our kids did not touch the artwork, and how are you going to tell a 2 year old to be absolutely quiet. If the staff was going to give us all these looks that we shouldn’t be there, or he shouldn’t be in the exhibition. More than welcome to make the place non children free. Then it wouldn’t be a problem, we would have organised something else to cater to the family.
Don’t be allowing children into the exhibition, and then have the staff hovering and greasing us off as they speak. Staff absolutely ruined the experience for us.
Otherwise the artwork was impressive. Definitely something worth looking at.

Michelangelo comes to mind when looking at the exquisite wood sculpting on The Wall because Greg Duncan captures the tendons and muscles of the people and animals in such a realistic way. A true craftsman and I understand why it’s a ‘must see’ for all travellers.

A must see! Absolutely amazing. If you are going anywhere near, do yourself a favour and see this fantastic work.
The staff are also amazing. We had some trouble with our car, and they couldn’t have done anymore for us. We were stranded until after closing time and into the night, waiting for a tow. The Manager Sarah, who lives near bye, arrived back with her family. They had brought a brazier with firewood and started a fire to give us a little atmosphere, along with a couple of piccolos of sparkling wine, bottles of water and packets of chips. Thanks Sarah, you don’t know what that did for us at that time. Such kind and wonderful people.

The work here is amazing. I had to go around several times. Each time I spotted more details, more intricacies. It's a true masterpiece. Have visited a few times over the past 15 years and it's finally completed. Well worth the entry fee. Outstanding carved masterpieces. Preordered tickets 10% off the door price. No photography allowed, but we bought the book which contains fabulous photography much better than I could have taken myself.

Open 9-4pm, $20 adult, $5 child.
As a visitor to Tasmania, many locals & tourists encouraged me to come here.
Interesting BUG sculptures to see along the entry to entry. Heaps of parking, beautiful building exterior,
It's strictly no use of CAMERAS or PHONES inside the building. Very interesting idea, story, artwork, and history. It's a self & easy walk around the WALL sculpture.
Do l think it's value for $20. No, over priced in my opinion. I was in and out in less than 30 min.
No photos 😥. Rules are rules!
There is a lot to see in this Derwent River area though.
Raelene G — Google review
Good wood artwork, but owner is highly business orientated and staffs are not welcoming at all. Not recommended unless you are super crazy about wood art. Even though you pay big entry tickets, photos are not allowed, they went one step above, you can't even touch your phone during visit. They have a book that has photo of the art work, you can buy it by paying another $80, this sounds like commercial. And Kids can't make noise, they will kick you out if you can't maintain th house rules.

Cataract Gorge Reserve, located at the edge of Launceston's city centre, boasts a stunning natural landscape with cliffs, bushland and the cold South Esk River. First Basin offers visitors a chance to swim in a free outdoor pool (open November to March), ride on the world's longest single-span chairlift for a fee, and wander Victorian-era gardens where peacocks roam. There are also walking tracks and lookout points to enjoy. Dining options include both a cafe and restaurant.
This is a beautiful spot so close to Launceston, you can walk to it from the city, we drove though.
We did the a short walk around the water and across the suspension bridge and chairlift back which was approx an hour.
The view is stunning, the bridge does have a little bit of movement whilst walking across and the chairlift was very smooth.

Beautiful place to walk, hike, swim, feed the birds or just stand and stare at the Great Outdoor. Admire the natural beauty, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the quiet. A must visit if you are in Launceston. Entrance is free but a fee is charged for the chairlift ride. 2 hours of my time well spent checking out the many trails and lookout points. Not as spectacular as Cradle Mountain but Cataract Gorge is more accessible from Launceston.

Cataract Gorge Reserve in Launceston is a must-visit spot for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. During my recent visit, I was impressed by the reserve's natural beauty and the leisurely strolls it offers.
The reserve features several easy-to-follow tracks that take you through stunning surroundings. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful walk, the trails here are accessible and enjoyable. You'll be treated to breathtaking views of the gorge and its waterfalls along the way.
What stood out to me was how well-maintained the tracks were. They were clearly marked and suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. This makes it easy for everyone to explore and appreciate the reserve's natural wonders.
Cataract Gorge Reserve provides a serene atmosphere where you can relax and unwind. You can find cozy picnic spots and charming cafes where you can take a break and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It's a great place to spend quality time with loved ones or simply enjoy some peace and quiet

Stunning space! Plenty to see and do. Is a fair bit of walking involved (we did near 16000 steps climbing to the Eagle Nest lookout and around the gorge, but it is worth it!). Lovely little cafe and restaurant inside and the chair lift is a must do! Lots of wildlife to look at and enjoy also. And randomly, there is a pool, so bring your bathers if you're keen (still a bit cold!).

Big and beautiful park and very pleasing to the eyes. Very tranquil place. We took the chairlift to and fro for $20 per adult. Met with many wildlife, peacocks, peahens, wallabies, different species of birds. A lot of walking and you can get good exercise. We can just follow the trail to Alexandra suspension bridge where you can watch the constant rapids hitting the stones and rocks below. Soothing to the ear. There's a swimming pool before the banks. Cool place and we love it here.

One of the best places in Tasmania to visit. The chairlift is amazing and safe for adults. For newborn and kids will have safety strap to put on and team will help you out with that. A lovely Launceston Tamar River surprise. Our party really enjoyed this because the walk from Kings Bridge gave nice views and we then went over on the Gorge on chairlift and back via the Suspension Bridge. We were we were all quite surprised at just how attractive this area was and the walk back along the river gorge was quite beautiful. Leave plenty of time as this actually took most of the morning. And the videos are for our grandchildren.

We visited Launceston for my birthday. Landing mid morning before our hotel room was ready, we needed something to do in the meantime. We set out towards the Gorge along the waterfront. The Gorge walk was a delightful, easy paced, not too steep walk past millions of year old sentinels of volcanic rock and the ever present waterway. There are historic points all along the way, the rotunda cafe, suspension bridge, chair lift, basin reserve, even a swimming pool! We walked back the way we came and it seemed easier on the return. There is a steeper walk suitable for seasoned hikers as well. Highly recommended.

A great family friendly place close to the heart of Launceston. It has a free swimming pool (not always manned by lifeguards) as well as some great walks.
The chair lift is pretty decent, and would recommend purchasing a one way ticket as the walk back across the suspension bridge is worth it.
We had an infant with us, so anything with lots of stairs was a problem, otherwise well worth visiting.
Parking is paid but quite cheap at $1/h although the meter wasn't working when we visited.

I visited the reserve whilst it was raining, although the reserve was flooded it did not detract from the view or experience.
If you are able, I would recommend a one way ticket for the cable chair (provides a leisurely ride up cataract George, you're able to see a lovely overhead view of the reserve).
Once you have reached the top, it is a lovely ~15min stroll down through Alexandria bridge to return back to the start.
If you have more time set aside for the day, I highly recommend you check out the hikes available at the reserve, there are different intensities available.

Definitely come here if you like getting outdoors!
Such an awesome place literally minutes from the heart of Launceston. Easy and pleasant walks to be done, many of which seem even stroller accessible (quite a few being pushed as we walked around)
Lots of local wildlife plus all the peacocks that call this area home. A neat little cafe on the far side of the gorge with a great deck. Couple of minutes walk to the iconic suspension bridge and further longer walks to be taken up the gorge if you’re keen.
Lots of parking, but it is metered, but at the time of visit the maximum day charge was $6. We spent about 1.5-2 hours and took the chairlift one-way to the far side then did the walk back around as we took lots of pics.

We went to the gorge pretty certain that due to my slight disability we wouldn’t have got to see much. The chairlift was likely our best option, but I was concerned about my legs coping with jumping off at the end. I needn’t have worried. They stopped the lift for me to get on safely, and the same at the end to disembark. It wasn’t just me either. What a great service - and a way for all abilities to enjoy such a beautiful place.
Lots of more strenuous walks to satisfy all fitness levels.
Also a few wildlife encounters which was a bit cool too!

Very interesting and picturesque place. Sat in the longest chairlift in the world. Yes, feeling fabulous and the chair lift can seat two person max. The walk through the suspension bridge is a bit wobbly and will shake more if children jumps on it. The view from the bridge is scenic with the cascading waterfalls and rocks in the background. There are toilets and restaurants too.
Peacocks walking around picking up foods, not shy of people.

A lovely recreation and picnic ground steeped in history. Great cafe, playgrounds, swimming pool, and amenities with well maintained gardens and walking trails to explore the beautiful natural surroundings. Beautiful place!! 🤩 there's also a swimming pool and some wildlife (peacocks, wallabies and some interesting looking birds)
The chairlift is a must, so many great photo opportunities and I'd say paying for the one way is good enough rather than the return because the walk back down isn't as long as you'd think it is. It'd take you only 15 - 20mins unless of course you need the return trip then go for it. Definitely check out the suspension bridge
Best to go as early as you can as it can get crowded, especially the line for the chairlift. We came just as the place was opening so there was no line but when were leaving, there was a huge line

This morning, my parents and I visited the Cataract Gorge Reserve in West Launceston, Tasmania. It's hard to begin how to describe this place. Massive, breathtaking, scenic, incredible, magnificent. It reminds me of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado or Yellowstone National Park.
We started on the First Basin Walk, a short easy walk around the large water basin and over the Alexander Suspension Bridge. From here, it splits off into several walks and hiking trails as well as the continuation of the First Basin Walk with a lovely crossing over the water.
I decided to tackle the Trevelyan Walk by myself. It's a steep, rocky trail with lots of trees and overgrown vegetation. I spotted a wallaby and baby joey as well as several fellow hikers and runners which put my mind at ease. Plenty of scenic views along here of the reserve.
I walked back along the Daffodil Walk which is a beautiful short rainforest track and connects back to the First Basin Walk.
As well as the walking tracks, there's also a chairlift, outdoor swimming pool, cafe, restaurant, BBQ picnic area, lots of blue peacocks and more. It was certainly worth visiting on our Tasmania trip.

Wow, what a day at Cataract Gorge Reserve! We enjoyed the chair lift, which is short and not that high. You can explore the other side with a short hike to the suspension bridge. The pool was good and relaxing. There are plenty of natural animals on site, which you can't miss. In the end, the meal was tasty and reasonably priced. The Launceston Park is nicely located in the heart of the business district of town. It's not massive but it can be considered as a people's park because it has the basic amenities of a public park.
People can see animals, appreciate nature, mesmerize by the old architectures in the area or just breath the freshest air the world has to offer.
The well manicured lawns is welcoming for first time visitors and by just walking in the park, you can have a glimpse of some bits and pieces of history of the place during the early days of the settlers.
The Park have few entrances and exits from multiple streets and you can see walkers, joggers, cyclist, picnic goers, event phot shoots, and photographers, etc around the park. This park is also a good place to celebrate life moments like birthdays, weddings and anniversaries. .
One thing to note, is that dogs are not allowed inside the park and if you bring your car, off street parking is available around the area and during Saturdays, Harvest Market is just around the corner.
The park is not that well maintained though, smelly water from the pond, the fountain and its water is visibly not been taken cared very well. I think the council/ park administration needs to do more than what they are doing now.
Maybe more staff or hours needs to be allocated in maintaining the park, or they can distribute forms or ask online and ask some suggestion from the general public about the best way to improve the park for the future generations to enjoy.

Stunning park in the city area, offering plenty of space with lots of shaded areas to have a picnic play with your children or just wander. The park also has a viewpoint to admire the Japanese Monkeys that live and bread in their own habitat. Worth the visit

Gorgeous park! Well kept, pretty flowers and plants, the atrium is amazing! There's a monkey enclosure which is awesome. Plenty of giant shady trees, a water fountain with gardens. Beautiful all round.

Lovely park across the road from our accommodation. Beautiful gardens lush green lawns, stunning display of orchids in the conservatory. I just was amazed by the Macaque display so cute and entertaining such a fantastic idea and free to view them. Such a rare find.

A nice park with a conservatory area. Not a lot to see. The monkeys make it a must see. Note the craftsmanship in the Queen's Jubilee commemorative arch which also has a drinking fountain.

The appropriately named "City Park" is a beautiful park in the centre of Launceston. The grounds were spotless and extremly well maintained. Great place for a walk or a picnic with liots of open areas. There was also a Japanese Macaque exhibit which was free and very much unexpected.

Launceston City Park is a heritage park that was established in the 1820s by the Launceston Horticultural Society. In 1863 it was passed to the Launceston City Council.
It is a beautiful park near the centre of town with a display of Snow Monkeys, a conservatory, a band stand, a fountain paying tribute to Queen Victoria, a duck pond, Albert Hall, Design Tasmania, City Park Radio and Museum and various other sculptures and tributes.
It was well worth the stroll through. The Radio museum is entry by gold coin donation but the rest is free to wander through, including the monkeys.

First time in Launceston and this was the second place we visited, easy walk across a foot bridge from Victoria Museum if you go there first. Saves finding anything closer to park your vehicle.
Well worth a roam around at any time of day.

I passed the park to go to the resto for dinner, the park becomes someone’s residence so NOT recommend you to pass after sunset. Whilst in the morning, its beautiful and its fine as some people jog around here.

A really serene, beautifully kept garden space. I loved the huge trees and the general way its set out. It's a lovely walk and very tranquil as a community space.

This park was very beautiful. The flowers surrounding the benches were just inviting you to sit and enjoy this green space.
The conservatory was just bursting with or hids and othe fabulous flowers.
The monkeys were very entertaining, and I had a good chuckle at their antics.

Loved the easy walking and shaded areas in the park. Large areas to picnic. The Macaqau Monkeys enclosure, open 9am till 4pm and free. The monkeys 🐒 are so playful and information signs are available. Since late 1800s the park has had an animal enclosure to encourage people to the park, our main reason to visit, before returning to Victoria. 🐒😍

This is an amazing park. Beautiful green grass and plenty of space to enjoy it.
The duck pond is muddy water but the ducks love it.
The main feature of the park is the monkey enclosure. They have been in the park for years and the community includes young.

Plenty of parking around the park area. Heaps to do for the family. Play areas, the John Hart Conservatory and a superb monkey enclosure, make this park perfect for repeat visits.

What a beautiful place to read a book , have some lunch, or just sit back and relax gazing at the parks beauty. Have a wander through the conservatorium filled with beautiful plants and water fountain. Don't forget to visit the monkey enclosure as well, the enclosure opens at 8am with keepers putting out lots of fruit , watch the monkeys have breakfast and play

Although the entertaining monkeys area worth a visit, it's the beautiful gardens and gorgeous established trees that make this park a lovely place to hold a picnic date or have a quiet recharging walk. Plentiful grassy areas, benches to sit and a kids playground with a cute little mushroom toilet room. Well groomed gardens with path access to get fully around making a great place for a walk. The hot house has a wonderful arrangement of flowers, orchids ferns and indoor plants. There are also toilet facilities available. Near Tamar st entrance there is this vintage radio museum. Very eclectic and interesting place to enjoy.

A must-see (FREE) attraction whilst visiting Launceston.
Well done to the local council for keeping this treasure so clean, maintained & appealing to visit.
There is so much to see and do here.
I visited the City Park radio station & Museum, the plant atrium, sat with the ducks. But the Japanese snow monkeys 🐒 are so cool to see.
The Monkeys are fed 4 times a day, so you see them interact with the keepers & ask questions. 25 in total, including many new babies (Feb).
The annual 3 day FESTIVALÈ held here on Feb 2 - 4th, was so good too.
Raelene G — Google review
Went for the snow monkeys. They were away the whole day. Maybe for cleaning the enclosure. More time out of the enclosure would be nice for the monkeys, 8-4 doesnt seam like enough time out for them. Maybe change the time according to the seasons. No staff, locals told me funding cuts and that their used to be more animals. Beautiful park and location though.
Russell Falls, located in Mt. Field National Park, Tasmania, is an easily accessible and awe-inspiring two-tiered waterfall. The falls can be reached through a short 400m track and visitors can also walk to Horseshoe Falls which is another 10 minutes away. The place offers picturesque views and some super scenic lookouts that are mostly wheelchair accessible with the top bit being slightly demanding but still manageable.
Short 10 min walk to Russell Falls from the cafe. We then also walked to Horseshoe Falls which was another 10 mins. You won’t be disappointed, as they are both beautiful water falls. You’ll take plenty of photos along the way. Very picturesque!!

This place is 1 hour drive from Hobart City. There is an entry fee of $40 to visit this park. It is not worth paying this, just for entering this place. But you can use this pass to visit other national parks in Tasmania. There is car park available and need to display the entry ticket under your windscreen. The water fall is 10 minutes walk from the visitor centre. You walk through dense forest and it is a great experience. Lot of big trees, Fern trees, Wild mushrooms, Streams, etc. The path is well maintained and not really steep. The water fall is not that great, if you are just visiting the fall. But there is a trail for walking and you can walk if you enjoy walking in the forest.

So worth it. It’s such a short walk to a beautiful waterfall. It’s so close you can feel it! I carried my 2 months old and was fine - definitely worth it. Make sure you buy the National park fee $44 ish for a vehicle and we went to a few parks within 24hrs and so it was worth every penny!! There’s a visitor centre there so you can buy tickets there.

Worth visiting. These falls are just spectacular. A short walk from the back of the visitor Centre, you can the walk on for various other locations for turn back around. The short walk in a well paced & easily accessible as well as beautiful. Large tall ferns surround the path that winds along the waterfall run offs.

The walk is not too demanding, except for the top bit, but still manageable.
By most part wheelchairs accessible.

A fantastic short easy walk part excellent gravel track and part boardwalk. However along the way some spectacular trees, rainforest and then at the end one of the best falls I've seen. The track to connect the walk to the horseshoe Falls was closed in August 2022 due to a fallen tree.

Just amazing! A very easy walk to Russell Falls from the visitor centre, 25mins return. Highly recommend visiting after it’s been raining for a few days to see it really in action. At night you can even go and see the glow worms, it was very exciting but take a torch with you for the way back as it’s pitch black!
Very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Can’t wait to visit again one day.

One of my favourite waterfalls in Tasmania. The walk to the falls is easy and pleasant. We continued on further from there but if you only want to see the falls it’s about a 25 minute round trip. We had lunch at the cafe first before commencing our hike. Easy to read signs are posted for clear directions. Ample parking available. Toilet facilities are clean. So many fascinating trees to see along the way.

The Russell Falls, a tiered–cascade waterfall on the Russell Falls Creek, is located in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania, Australia.
The Russell Falls are situated on the eastern boundary of Mount Field National Park, 100 metres (330 ft) downstream of the Horseshoe Falls, approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Hobart via the Brooker and Lyell highways. Accessible by a paved walking track, the falls are a popular tourist attraction. The waterfall descends over horizontal marine Permian siltstone benches, while the vertical faces of the falls are composed of resistant sandstone layers.

Absolutely breathtaking. The walk in was beautiful, there is a glow worm grotto along the walk in which would be amazing at night. I will be back to go up to horseshoe falls. You do need a parks pass to go here but easily purchased online before hand or at the Mt field visitor centre upon arrival.

Absolutely beautiful waterfall, and wonderful rainforest walk trail! We went for a day walk and in the evening after sunset saw the glow worms in the "Glow worm grotto". A must do day trip if you're staying in Hobart.

Very easy short walk - start from the Mount Field National Park. Only 20-25 minutes return. Good for the elderly and children. You'll need a National Park pass to enter. You can continue the walk from here and do a loop if you like, the whole walk is pretty good and easy. Walks can get muddy so wear good shoes!

It is a great walk with a beautiful view of the falls. Keep an eye out for the platypus. The terrain is pretty easy, but I recommend good walking shoes. There is a good cafe at the visitor centre.

Deviating 30 km from our original plan to explore Russell Falls was the best decision. This natural wonder provides a captivating experience, with picturesque displays of nature's beauty surrounded by lush greenery. The soothing sound of cascading water enhances the tranquility of the surroundings. Russell Falls is a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful escape into nature.

We took a tour of 7 people and walked the 6km loop. Be ready for some stairs along the walk, but the falls are worth it. Very pretty and serene.
Rita Lewitt — Google review
A beautiful location, situated in a tall tree rain forest. It's just a short 15 min walk from the visitor centre. If you walk another 5 min you'll find yourself at the Horseshoe Falls further upstream. You'll need a National Park permit to enter the site.
Jason Kan — Google review
Great easy walk to get to the falls. Concrete path and steps.
One way to the falls then to the tall trees.
Not a round trip unless you go to the next falls. Not a hard walk unless you are not mildly fit. Lots of spots to sit and rest and enjoyed amazing forest

Russell falls is great family walk with 25 mins return. You can enjoy the tall trees and why is Tasmania so special. From Russell falls if you want you can walk to horseshoe falls for another 15 mins. But still will be steep stairs which is well maintained. But I like the Russell falls better than horseshoe one. Kids friendly and seniors friendly. Must do if you visit mount field national park.

Definitely my favourite waterfall in Tasmania. The scenery around the waterfall is absolutely mind-blowing and beautiful. The walk here also presents some interesting and unique vegetation. If you are visiting Tasmania, definitely stop by and I promise you that you will not regret it. I have attached to this post a photo of the waterfall and a photo of the vegetation that you can find while on the walk.
St Columba Falls Rd leads to Tasmania's highest waterfall, St Columba Falls, located in the Pyengana Valley. The South George River cascades 90 meters down the hillside, creating a spectacular sight, especially after rainfall. Visitors can enjoy an easy 20-minute walk from the car park to reach a viewing platform at the base of the falls for an up-close experience of this natural wonder.
The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is a rescue center that offers educational tours and up-close viewings of endangered native wildlife. The spacious enclosures are home to Forester kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, echidnas, quolls, koalas, and emus. Visitors can also watch vets working at the hospital treating resident and rescued wildlife. Nocturnal tours are available for an additional fee.
Had a wonderful day here, the animals all look cared for and loved. The sanctuary has some great features and lots of information. Multiple tours throughout the day included in entry price and the carers are well informed and happy to answer questions. Would highly recommend an animal encounter and love that the proceeds go back into helping the animals.

I FINALLY SAW A WOMBAT!!! So cute! It was the highlight. The staff were really knowledgeable and informative. Would recommend you join their free tours where they bring you around to the wombat and Tasmanian devils enclosures.
Unfortunately when we went, the kangaroo enclosure was closed due to introduction of new joeys. The place isn’t very big but you get to see all the main Australian species. They run on entrance fee collected from visitors, so do give them the support!

Highlight of our Aussie trip! Absolutely loved this place and the interaction we had with the animals (we did the night tour and got to feed kangaroos, tasmanian devils, wombats, birds among many others). It was heartwarming to see the rescue animals treated so well and hearing each of their stories made it extra special. Our guide, Monica, was fantastic and so passionate about what she does. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

The sanctuary is amazing and surely is worth a visit. We mainly visited the sanctuary to see the Tasmanian devils but we were surprised by way more than just Tasmanian devils. The sanctuary tickets are quite pricey, but that’s understood as the ticket fees are flowing into the sanctuary itself. With the Tasmanian devils and the different encounters available including the kangaroo feeding area, it makes the place worth the visit. And not to forget mentioning the amazing 110 year old cockatoo Peter, hope to see you again safe and sound in perfect health !!

A lovely experience with some good feelings to take away. Bonorong are saving animals, giving them good homes and educating us with a great day out. Knowledgeable, helpful staff and a stroll around feeding the kangaroos and aweing over the devils was relaxing and fun. I recommend.

The Carers at the sanctuary were all fantastic, you can hear their passion and sincerity for the animals during their tours and general walk around. Whilst it's sad to learn of the animals making their way to this sanctuary, it's fantastic to know this exists as it is the only Wildlife sanctuary in Tasmania which was surprising.
It's not a Zoo, so don't expect fancy themed enclosures and gimmicks, the sanctuary is essentially a safe place for orphaned or rehabilitation animals, it wasn't a bother for us because we knew the money went directly to supporting the Sanctuary and their animal's care.
The trip out to Bonorong was fantastic seeing the terrain, farms and countryside was soothing.
Highlight was to see active echnidnas, Tasmanian devils and Winnie the Wombat.

We loved Bonorong Sanctuary. Its a small sanctuary doing amazing work with an excellent selection of animals in their care for visitors to view. Highly recommend visiting, especially if you have children who love animals.

We went to do an animal encounter and ended up staying and doing a night tour - honestly best decision we made! Was such an insightful tour and Robyn was an amazing guide. We learnt so much about all the animals, the conservation efforts Bonorong has in place and also got up close with them and gave them their dinner. We learnt all the animals names, their stories, fun facts about each of them and really entered their world! It was such a fun time and an experience I will never forget. Robyn is also so lovely, great to chat with, and was such an insightful guide. We visited from mainland but can’t wait to come back.

This sanctuary all of its members and volunteers have done so much for these animals and continue to do so. We’re visiting from Melbourne and decided on a trip to Bonorong today. Such a fun wildlife sanctuary. You’re Guaranteed to see a Tasmanian Devil, more kangaroos than you could want plus a plethora of other interesting critters.
The on sight animal hospital also offers an opportunity to learn more about some of Australia’s fragile wildlife.
Be sure to stop at the gift shop on the way out to grab a present or two for yourself and someone back home; you’re supporting a great cause.
Overall the staff and facility are top notch and I’ll be back on my next visit.

They're doing wonderful work here to rehabilitate animals and educate people. The guided tour was very interesting and informative but didn't cover all the animals, only Tasmanian devils and echidnas. I would have loved to learn about the other animals there.
The guide did mention that they're expanding but I was quite surprised by how small it was.
It was a very hot day when we visited so we didn't see the wombat at all, as it was hiding in its den. We did have the chance to interact with kangaroos and wallabies with no fence in between and they also take food out of your hands. There is complimentary feed in boxes along the way and they were very friendly.

A great way to spend half a day. This sanctuary is small and simple and a lot of fun for adults and children alike. We loved the tour included in our tickets, such an informative session with lots of great information. The food range on offer is limited but tasty. Our toddler loved feeding the kangaroos! The insight into how they rescue injured wildlife was really interesting.
MONA is a mostly-underground art museum with a playful vibe and wine bar on the Moorila Winery grounds. It's sexy, provocative, disturbing, and deeply engaging - don't miss it! The museum can be reached by either ferry or shuttle bus from Hobart's Brooke St Pier.
I was completely surprised by how eccentric and beautiful this place was. Modern art shares the stage with more classical art, in a place that can only be described as a piece of architectural genius, where the building is fused with the stone and flora of the estate. Highly recommend. Please do check out the more 'controversial' pieces as they are not as scandalous as some people like to advertise.

Definitely an experience to add to your bucketlist whilst in Tasmania. Personally- the actual museum was not overly impressive. The artwork was mediocre and overall 2 hours is more than ample time to experience the museum + return ferry ride.
Getting there: we went by ferry which was a joyful and picturesque ride (we went standard - not the Posh Pit and paid $25 return). You can buy your tickets online which I recommend in the peak season (we visited in December) as the ques will have you waiting over 20 minutes. Trip is ~25minutes each way and you need to select your departure and return time. This is important as once on the island changing your return ticket time is very tricky when busy. There is a box office on the island to change your return time if needed.
Museum: tickets were $35 adult
(All up, a $60 day trip with the ferry). We actually preferred the outdoor artwork, lookout points and entertainment/food/drinks on the hill which you can enjoy without am entry ticket to the museum. There is not a lot of shade, so pack your hat and sunscreen.
Definitely would return but as a lunch or evening trip to enjoy drinks and food and entertainment on the hill (and bypass the museum).

Weirdest museum I have ever visited. But, I love it. Free admission for Tasmanians. If you appreciate art, you can easily spend one full day here. If you don't appreciate contemporary art, don't waste your time here.

The building is great designed and the space function of the building is placed in an interesting way. Makes it possible to walk around and see the museum thoroughly But the exhibit itself is strange. and shocked the people who visited the exhibition too This makes it impossible to access the main idea that you want to convey. Like focusing on the extreme Not suitable for bringing young children to attend the event.

Mona is an impressive venue, and my visit from 10 am to 3 pm allowed me to explore its vast collection. The sheer magnitude of exhibits can be overwhelming, so I recommend starting at the bottom and taking a break for lunch before tackling the remaining floors. Be prepared to dedicate the whole day to fully appreciate everything Mona has to offer.

Truly world class experience... It's not just the artworks but the experience. From the giant snake mural by Sidney Nolan that gets more detailed as you explore closer to the immersive visit to a sarcophagus in a darkened water filled room there's a surprise around every corner. Make sure you allocate several hours. There's a bar inside and often music. Catch the ferry across for an even more enjoyable experience

Mona was fantastic. I took the ferry from the Brooke Street Pier. The ferry entry was easy to find and there were plenty of staff to help. I paid for the Posh Pit which was a lovely experience. The seated area is at the front of the boat with a drink and canapes included in the price. It made the trip really special. Mona itself was delightful. The location is stunning with beautiful sandstone everywhere. The staff were really nice and helpful - and easy to find. The art was set up perfectly - it was a real sensory experience. The grassed restaurant area was a little hard to find and the signage is a bit lacking. The food was great and there was live music to listen to which was really great. There's a lot of walking to see everything but there is an accessibility entrance for prams and people who can't make it up the stairs. The shop was lovely but a bit pricey.

Best museum! Very interesting and engaging exhibits. We went on a public holiday, so it was very busy, however staff were courteous and wait times were minimal. The building and grounds are amazing and that's just the start. This museum is well worth a visit in Hobart, and I can see why it has its popular reputation. The ferry ride is well worth it too, the river is stunning. Plan for at least 3 hours, if not more to sit, eat a meal and enjoy the live music.
Candice Shields — Google review
I loved MONA so much. Weirdest pieces of art, but honestly so riveting and highly relevant to our day and age. The location itself is beautiful, it's situated right next to the water. The architecture of the museum alone is worth paying a visit to see. I particularly liked the MONA app - it has some quality information about the art pieces and it specifically shows you what exhibits you are standing near so that you can read up on them. Great way to give prominence to the artists and their interpretation. The MONA cafe had the most expensive but delicious cheese toasty I've had in my life - can't stop thinking about it. All in all, very thought-provoking and whether or not you are able to appreciate the art, you will definitely admire the architecture and scenery. Take your sense of humour and an open mind, and this will make for a great experience.

This is the greatest modern art museum in the world, bar none.
Beautifully set underground with natural rock formations all around you. Unlike most museums, art work is not separated by era, you will see ancient tablets next to digital art. This continuity really inspires and connects like no other collection I’ve seen. The design of the space is also impeccable and human centered. Comfortable chairs and couches all around that seem like they could be part of an exhibit, but purposefully set aside for you relaxation and enjoyment. Tactfully placed mirrors behind the works and use of dim lighting makes it clear that the visitors are themselves part of the art. That being said, the museum is not pretentious in the slightest; quite the contrary, their sarcastic and self deprecating style makes the space more inclusive and is quite endearing and entertaining. This reflects in the up/down rating system and digital comments people leave on each art piece.
Honestly hard for me to find fault in this place; the outside is not neglected, and the cocktail bar within the museum would be worth a visit as a stand-alone bar. Can’t wait to return.
I highly recommend taking the museum’s ferry from Hobart too, this is absolutely part of the experience. Definitely plan at least a half day.
Stanislav Sinitsyn — Google review
This place was described to me as amazing and fantastic as well as terrible. Since I’m not likely to get back to Tasmania any time soon, I opted to check it out. The Story behind the creation of the museum holds as much interest as the place itself. The art. Installations were not appealing to me, with the exception of the light prisms room (outside the area that requires a ticket) and the Richard Wilson’s piece that is constructed of used sump oil and steel.
I struggled to appreciate the large wall of dead flies and resin as art. Watching the expressions of visitors was more interesting.
I understand from locals that the installations change regularly. The locals do not pay an entry fee so it is easy to get value for a visit. For me, the hype far overshadowed the value. The art was not to my liking.

I took the ferry from Hobart, about a 30 minute trip there. Alcohol and food served on board. There is a VIP option offered with service to the seat and front view of the trip.
What an awesome experience at the gallery, the outside garden is nice to sit and chill in also. Very cool experience. We left it later in the day but I think lunch time would be better to get it all in.

I came here with my mother during our hobart trip. It was an experience!
There are some artworks that reference sexual things and mild gore, but there is adult content warnings around so you can avoid those if you plan on bringing children. It is advertised as having old and new art, but to be honest, it is not much old art like my mother was hoping. But the modern art was very expressive! I really enjoyed looking at the different mediums - so much creativity! However, I do wish there was an artist’s statement that you could read. Everyone was on their phones using the app, which didn’t describe much of the artworks in depth.
Food is not very great. There is a bar and pizza place inside, bur it is very dark in there. The outside area was super fun and had amazing views of the mountains, though!
Overall - you could still bring your children here, just make sure to avoid adult content if you don’t want your child seeing that. This museum is not as interactive as others, and could be overwhelming for those with sensory issues.
It was an interesting experience! I had never experienced anything like this before, but I do wish there was more description to the art itself. I would come again ☺️

Literally the best gallery in the world that I’ve been to, including those in Firenze, Italy. MONA is an entire artistic experience… from the moment you enter, it’s like being transported inside a Salvador Dali painting. The focus on surrealism really did things for me. No boredom where: many of the installations are interactive, or landscapes that you walk through. Every kid I saw in the place loved it as much as the adults. In fact, everyone should ensure that their kids get to spend at least one whole day exploring MONA. My only criticism is that some of the staff were incredibly rude, which was a pity when the art was so enjoyable and their whole job was to interact with the public and be helpful and friendly! But even those bad apples couldn’t ruin the crumble. Visit this place. It will blow your mind!

An absolutely stunning experience for the senses is perhaps the only proper way to describe my experience here. The art, the sounds, the magic they create with light (or darkness) and spider webs, amongst many other things is just unbelievable. I would recommend a minimum of 3 hours to explore this place, although I reckon we could've spent 5 hours here easily! The staff were very knowledgeable and polite as well so overall a superb experience.

Interesting artworks and a beautiful building. However there are no signs/information displayed next to artworks - you have to use your phone and download an app, which I don’t think suits all age groups.
Nice cafe inside.
Car parking is very bad for such a popular attraction.
1-2 hours was plenty of time for us.

Due to time restrictions we couldn't enjoy the full experience and were restricted to visiting the grounds for a stroll and a coffee.
It is a wonderful place to walk through and enjoy the art installations.
Very hands on and a hive of activity for adults and children.

Well I did not stay in the hotel for it being private museum. It was pretty impressive when you take it all in. I highly recommend you take your time. It was a very interesting experience but in a very positive way. The service was amazing. The employees were very helpful. I will come back.

Definitely something different!
This museum is architecturally amazing, one of the finest in the world. If you're trying to do it on the cheap, you can honestly just walk around outside and get some of the best bits!
Inside, many of the artworks are stunning and outside of the box. However, our family found it frustrating that you need to use the app to discover any information about the art. As you can imagine, with kids, walking to to art, funding it on a device and huddling around to all read it isn't the most enjoyable.
The outside area is delightful. Playground and cafe with fantastic views.
🎟️ Entry is free for Tasmanians, $35 for everyone else. Free lockers.
⛴️ The Mona ferry adds to the experience! Sit on a sheep!

What an absolute MUST do experience.
The museum itself was phenomenal. So much to see.
From ancient artefacts to modern adult only content to the spectacular architecture it’s a truly a place we will go back to many times.
We did the wine tasting and the staff were so informative and the wine was fabulous.
Don’t miss the library. They had recording equipment used to record almost all of the Beatles albums, Pink Floyd’s dark side of the moon and many more. The staff there were also incredibly friendly and helpful.
Loved this experience. Highlight of the year for me.

WOW, what an interesting place to visit. Some really amazing exhibits. We only visited for the day to check out the museum, and it was well worth it. I can certainly see why some view it as very controversial and confronting. It's great to see something different like this.

If you are visiting Tassie, it’s a must to visit MONA! Outdoors is gorgeous and indoors is just so much fun and so unique. It’s highly recommended to take the ferry as that is an experience itself. There is so much to see and experience at MONA so prepare to spend a full day here. The food at Faro was absolutely amazing and they had some unique entertainment happening while you dine! Super interesting! Also make sure to download the app and book some of the experiences in advance on the day via the O app.

Art is amazing. Not everything will appeal to everyone, but the range and quality on display is phenomenal. The setting and grounds are spectacular and the staff were friendly and helpful. Spent over 3 hours enjoying MONA.

Absolutely loved Mona. Great art centre with so many different types. Gardens are great for sitting and listening to live music. The cafe we ate at was superb. I so loved the
ladies only lounge also. This is one art Centre you should put on your todo list. Highly recommend. 👏👏

Favourite art gallery / museum of all time, and one of the better hotels. Groundbreaking in Australia for making art accessible yet very much in your face. We've visited the museum multiple times with our kids. While there have been a few things over the years that weren't for young children, they have always been avoidable. The ones that pushed boundaries resulted in learning opportunities for the kids. As a place to stay overnight without children, the accommodation on site was also excellent -- expensive but worth it -- and the dining options were fantastic.
Alex Brak — Google review
I just got back from MONA in Tasmania, and let me tell you, it's an experience unlike any other museum I've been to. It's like stepping into a whole other world, quite literally – most of the exhibits are displayed in this underground labyrinth, with no natural light and quirky signs everywhere.
I have to admit, it was a bit disorienting at first. I downloaded their app like they suggested, which helped me navigate the darkness and find interesting pieces, but it definitely added to the "choose your own adventure" feel of the place.
The art itself? Well, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. There's a mix of ancient artifacts, modern masterpieces, and some truly bizarre stuff that will leave you scratching your head. But that's kind of the point, I think. It's meant to challenge you, make you think, and maybe even offend you a bit.
Overall, I had a blast at MONA. It's not your typical museum experience, and that's what makes it so memorable. If you're looking for something different, something that will stay with you long after you leave, then I highly recommend checking it out. Just be prepared for a wild ride!

An amazing experience. Spent 2 days exploring Mona. We stayed overnight in a Pavilion, had an incredible experience at Faro for dinner and the staff were 5 star everywhere we went. Take the ferry and upgrade to the Posh Pit - well worth it!

Definitely a must visit in Hobart. The museum/gallery is a quite amazing space with exhibits that test your sensory perception. Could have wandered around taking it all in for hours longer. Parts of it not really suitable for kids but there are plenty of warning signs around the place. Clearly a very popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Great selection of food and drink from the cafe and outside live jazz was pleasant and relaxing.

Had a great time at the museum. The museum isn’t a typical one that you could expect, and that’s why it’s interesting and fun to us. We could understand it might not be suitable for children or older generations. But we couldn’t get why it’s controversial, in our point of view it’s very artistic and had a great range of collection of arts. The environment surrounding the museum is also great, could easily spend a day here.
L L — Google review
Definitely creative and cheeky. A project of passion, with a lot of thought in to the space and challenging expectations, you'll definitely have feelings about what's exhibited. I loved the architecture and the curation. The app is a great addition to the MONA experience.
Food options are decent, although the general outside options did appear to wind up early.
The museum can be difficult to navigate, work out where you've been, where you haven't. For those who don't pay to get in, that might be less bothersome. For the rest of us it'd be nice to have a clearer idea, especially if you want to come up for air to the top and go back in.
It's also mostly underground. Won't bother most, but worth mentioning.
Splurge, take the ferry, go standard, because sitting on a sheep in cattle class is way more of an experience.

Easy to get to by car. Very interesting buildings, even without the art. The art gallery itself is an amazing experience, located about 15 to 25 meters below ground. There is plenty to see and is very cool compared to the temperature above ground. On the B3 level, you will find the Void bar where you can order food and drinks. Water is complimentary. Be sure to download the O app to get an interactive map. You will also need to queue for some of the exhibits, which you can also do via the app. This was a great day out.

I was disappointed. The ferry ride was great. It is not value for money, spent 132 for entry for two, and 56 for the ferry. The river was beautiful even though the weather wasn't. We loved Hobart, regrettably not the Mona.

All of my friends have been here recommended MONA and now I would recommend you too! This is very unique, weird and beautiful museum. I was there for more than two hours and couldn’t get enough of it. I went there by ferry and I’d recommend it too as you can also enjoy the ferry itself and the view.
Mount Wellington, also known as kunanyi, is a 4,170-foot mountain that overlooks Hobart. It boasts the impressive Organ Pipes cliffs and offers stunning views of the city and surrounding areas from its summit. The slopes of Mount Wellington are crisscrossed with walking trails, including the challenging North South Track for mountain bikers. Visitors can also take a leisurely drive up the sealed summit road or join a guided tour to reach the peak.
Top place for amazing views of Hobart area on a clear day. Be prepared for cold temperatures at the summit.

This is such a beautiful spot, easily accessible by car, with plenty of parking spots usually becoming available with short or no wait at all.
Great place to see the city specially if you can’t or don’t want to hike to get to an amazing viewpoint.
Toilets available at the top.
There’s some hike options starting at the top, midway up or bottom. From half a day walks to full day walks.
There’s a coffee shop midway up.
I recommend going when the sky is clear or mostly clear as otherwise you might not see anything at all (it happened to me once)

From the Chalet, the organ pipes trail is perfect for a family hike. From the springs to the summit is a great adult hike (lots of climbing).

Great view of the city. There are a few walks around (with different difficulty levels) for anyone who wants to hike.
We went on a party cloudy day and the view was heavenly. It’s usually a busy spot so would recommend going on a weekday.
Toilets available at the top. No cafes/restaurants available on the site.

If you're visiting Hobart this is a must! We drove up about 4pm in early October and the weather was perfect!
The drive is fairly twisty and narrow and requires good weather conditions.
Beautiful views at the top! Something out of a movie!
Probably has the most picturesque bathrooms in Hobart. Full views off the island.
Some great walks. We did some of the zigzag track, but I'd recommend checking what's open for walking before going.
Great 360 views 👏

Beautiful views from Mount wellington on a sunny summer day. The drive is easy up the hill and lots of parking available. Sometimes it is challenging to find a car park. Bus services are also available. Toilet facilities and garbage disposal bin is provided. You do not have to pay anything but encouraged to keep the place clean. Small walks are available and benches for sitting is too. You can see Hobart habour from Mt Wellington. There was strong winds when we visited in 2020. A great place to have picnic lunch or dinner and watch the sunset.

When we arranged our trip to Tasmania in winter everyone found it wrong decision however the day we visited the mountain; yes it was cold but it was a sunny day which we found ourselves lucky 😉 During the winter most of the tourist attractions were not too crowded which is good to take the photos with less people 🙏 get your winter hats, gloves, coats and always check the weather forecast beforehand.

We had a wonderful drive from Hobart. The view from the lookout was absolutely breathtaking—you could see the entire city spread out below. For those who find the wind and weather a bit too much, there's a shelter available where visitors can take refuge and still enjoy the scenery. This spot is perfect for anyone wanting to take in the beauty of Hobart from a great vantage point, with all the comforts to handle the unpredictable weather.

The drive is a bit dangerous, be sure to go slow as the road is a bit narrow and can get slippery when wet. The boardwalk tops it and it's as breathtaking as the views you'd see in NZ. Crisp fresh air !

Driving all the way up to the pinnacle was fun with great views of Hobart on left and right. The road gets a bit tricky around turns but still enjoyable.
The parking at the top seems to be overflowing most of the time but there are a couple of other ones prior the summit.
Weather was good but bush flies were everywhere. The vegetation is not the live green and it is still Aussie bush style.

It's just 45 min drive from Hobart international airport and must visit place in Tasmania. The top of the mountain is so windy. And also you can see the whole Hobart from here. This is just so unreal. And you can see the ships sailing through the sea too.

Absolutely worth the drive up if the weather is clear. Amazing view back toward Hobart city. We went on dusk and it was very quiet. Be warned it is VERY cold up there compared to in the city. The colder weather plus wind factor was hard to deal with. Glad we had beanies and heavy coats. The observatory does provide some relief from the wind but it doesn't let you see the view from all angles. Some very unique plant life up there and the rock formations were spectacular.

At only 1.200 m it certainly transports it into a different world, we cheated and took Uber up as it was a crazy hot day, then walked down on the combination of trails, got lost in the process too but it was well worth it. The Salamanca Markets are a popular open-air market in Tasmania that features fresh food, produce, arts and crafts, and more. The market has been around for many years and is often cited as one of the best markets in Australia.
Great fresh produce. Huge variety of quality home made products, everything you could possibly think of. Took 3 hours to look at most stalls. Good selection of food stalls also. Very busy, masks and sign in compulsory.

This big street market held on Saturday has variety of food, cloths, arts, and music.
It was crowded with a lot of patrons and people walk around with fun, smiles, and happiness although wearing masks seems to be required due to still ongoing COVID after mobile app checked-in from different entrance.
Nevertheless it was the best place to be worth of spending time with a family and friends enjoying delicious dishes and eye-shopping.
Definitely recommended.

The biggest most impressive markets over every seen in Australia. So many local artisans and artists, you can meet the people who have made the goods! It's always nice to learn something about the makers you buy from, I think. Nice little food, coffee, and lolly stalls. Really well run and organised. I wish that I 1. could've spent longer browsing and talking to the artisans and that I 2. had more money to spend supporting all the different crafters.

Great stalls showcasing local art and crafts. Lots of options for delicious food and drink.
Our highlights were the sourdough doughnuts and the freshly pressed apple juice.
Don't forget to look in the stores along the side of the market. There was a great exhibit by a local artist working with seaweed. Very interesting.

To be honest they're pretty over rated. No different to any another market in Aus with bumped up prices to cater to the tourist, food trucks would make a killing that's for sure. As for souvenirs no different to any shop around TAS just dearer.
The best part to me was the view of Mt Wellington in the background and the Docks nearby to check out the vessels.

What a fabulous Market! The Salamanca Market is huge and took us 3 hours to look through and that was without doing many tastings. Most stalls offer tastings of food and drink produce and stalls with other products have samples to try before purchasing which is fantastic. I was blown away by the amount of artisan stalls with gins, whiskeys and vodka’s they all had unique stories about their products it was so interesting. There wasn’t repeated stalls which was great, so many unique little shops with lots of treasures.
Salamanca Market also has every cuisine available so if you’re hungry when you leave it’s certainly not from choice as there is plenty. I highly recommend visiting this market it’s one of the best I’ve ever been to.

They say it's the largest market in Australia, I'm not so sure. I feel the Eumundi market on the Sunshine Coast is bigger. Great markets must do in Tasmania. People seem to come out from everywhere.
Bicheno Blowhole is a natural wonder on the rocky coastline, where waves transform into powerful jets of water during high tide. This attraction is formed by the erosion of volcanic rock and constantly changes in size and shape due to the sea's forces. It's a popular tourist spot easily accessible from the town center. Bicheno also offers shops, galleries, and nearby national parks like Freycinet National Park and Douglas Apsley National Park.
Great place to stop with family. Nature at her very best. The walk is very easy from the car park. The blowhole can be sometimes small or not at all so visit on high tide and on a wild weather day would be my suggestion.
Great photography opportunity with the red lichen rocks, views and of course the Blowhole. Just don’t get too close and watch the littlest ones around the edges.

Definitely worth the time to visit the Bicheno Blowhole. The scenery was amazing, even on an overcast, rainy day. The same sort of rocks you can find at the Bay of Fires, but with added blowhole! Came here at sunrise to try to get a glimpse of penguins with no success but did manage to catch a beautiful sunrise. The blowhole was doing its thing- tried to get it on camera but always managed to happen when I stopped filming. It wasn’t very big at the time
But it was still worth witnessing Mother Nature doing her thing and reminding us how powerful and beautiful nature can be.

If you're visiting Tasmania's East Coast, make sure to add the Bicheno Blowhole to your itinerary – it's a natural wonder you won't want to miss!
Located in the charming seaside town of Bicheno, this blowhole is nature's own spectacular show. As you approach, the sound of crashing waves sets the scene for the excitement to come.
Once you're there, you'll be mesmerized by the sheer power of the ocean as it sends plumes of spray shooting into the air. It's like watching nature put on a grand performance right before your eyes.
The best part? You never know when the next big spray will come, adding an element of suspense to the experience. It's all part of the fun of visiting this iconic Tasmanian attraction.
Whether you're snapping photos, feeling the mist on your face, or simply enjoying the raw beauty of the coastline, a visit to the Bicheno Blowhole is sure to leave you feeling amazed and inspired. So grab your camera and get ready for an unforgettable coastal adventure!

Great place to visit for both the blow hole and to see penguins, but please respect the signs!!! NO TORCHES/LIGHTS AFTER DARK and NO PETS so you don't scare the penguins! Saw three people photographing the penguins with their flash on, and more idiots brought their dogs and a super bright torch. DONT DO IT. Respect the land and the animals!

This natural phenomenon can be accessed for free and is a true joy to look at.
It was very fun being able to climb up the rocks and get so close to the blowhole. It was interesting seeing the small waves being blown up in the blowhole. Great for a short walk.
A blowhole is a sea cave which grows inwards and up, resulting in a perpendicular shaft open at the surface. They occur when there is a weak joint in the rock and as the waves pound and erode the rock just above the waterline a cave is slowly but surely formed. As a wave hits the rock the water pushes through the length of the cave at ever increasing levels of pressure so that when it hits the surface then it does so with explosive force.

Amazing. Easy access for everyone to enjoy and I love how it’s just expected that’ll you’re not an idiot and capable of making a judgement call and staying far enough away dependant on the conditions - that’s good because it means nothing is fenced of and no view is spoiled. The surrounding coast line is dark and broody in the water with some amazing looking kelp forest growing off the shore. The blazing orange lichen rocks hiding the penguins is a great explore and I also really admire the way you Tasmania’s respect the wildlife and simply tell people to stay away from the majority of the Karen’s and walk in designated routes. Brits would be climbing all over everything disturbing it all - hats off to the way you guys seem to absolutely respect the world around and appreciate it isn’t all there for your amusement. Well worth a look if you’re passing.

When you are traveling east coast, you can stop here for a while. About 45 minutes drive from St. Helen/Binalong Bay. Carparks available. Free of charge. Able to get closer to the blowhole. I stayed here for 5 minutes or less than.

Beautiful spot to enjoy with loved ones
There are picnic benches scattered here
The scenery is obviously breathtaking
Slightly crowded but a great spot
If you drive further down you will find yourself looking at governor island where penguins and seagulls resides and fish
You can spend forever there ogling at the marvel these birds are!!

The Bicheno Blowhole is a natural wonder where seawater rushes into a narrow gorge and erupts through a hole in the rock, creating a spectacular fountain of water. Visitors often describe it as mesmerizing and worth the visit, especially during high tide or stormy weather when the blowhole is most active. However, its performance can vary depending on weather conditions, so it's a good idea to check tide times before visiting. Overall, it's a unique and beautiful attraction that showcases the power of nature.

Must visit when you are at Bicheno or even worth the drive to see this beautiful place . Best time to go is when there is a high tide . The rocks are very slippery so best to take careful steps .

Awesome place to visit. Unfortunately it started to rain while we were there but I did manage to take some nice photos. The blowhole was remarkable but you need to be careful to not get too close or you may get splashed.

Better than expected. Crowded than expected but the waves were strong so it have a good showing the day we were there. Worth a 5 minute break. Just beware the odd big warm. Never turn your back to the sea.
Thai T — Google review
Yes more than worth the drive and walk both of which are scenic. But the blowhole itself is interesting and lovely to be splashed by the ocean. Again great colourful rocks.
Ross Daniels — Google review
Blowholes are such a fun sight. There's nice biodiversity within the rock pools surrounding the blowhole. We saw crabs and little starfish. Was such a lovely time.
swij uu — Google review
Let me preface this by saying, I'm not one for tourist traps. But the Bicheno Blowhole? It surprised me. It's not some grand spectacle, but there's a certain rawness to it that I found captivating.
Standing there, the wind whipping my hair, I watched the ocean churn and crash against the jagged rocks. Then, BOOM! A jet of water erupted from the hole in the ground, spraying the unsuspecting (or perhaps overly enthusiastic) tourists right next to the viewing platform. Laughter, shrieks, and the surprised yelps of people getting soaked filled the air. I couldn't help but grin.
It's a simple thing, really. Just a hole in the rock and the power of the ocean. But there's something about the unpredictable nature of it, the way the blowhole can go from calm to explosive in an instant, that makes it oddly thrilling. Plus, the bonus of seeing people get a little (or a lot) wet never hurts.
If you're looking for fancy or awe-inspiring, the Bicheno Blowhole might not be your cup of tea. But if you're up for a bit of fun and a reminder of the ocean's untamed power, it's definitely worth a visit. Just maybe bring a raincoat, just in case.

Such a beautiful place… can’t get enough of it… days and nights
Wineglass Bay Cruises is a company that offers a thrilling experience on a luxury yacht. The crew is amazing, and the total ride lasts around 4 hours. There is a 45 minute lunch stop where the cruise boat docks overlooking a stunning beach. You can see dolphins and seals while sailing through beautiful Glass Bay.
Such a wonderful and exciting experience. The crew on board were fantastic and so helpful. We saw seals, hundreds of dolphins swimming, and various birds. The entire length of the cruise is beautiful...from start to finish. You stop at wineglass bay for lunch, and it is breathtaking there. Can't recommend enough!

What an experience!!!
Crew were amazing and helpful... and full of insights.
Lucky enough to see some whales from afar.
Did the sky lounge package.. worth the little bit extra, I believe.
This is a must do for anyone not doing the hike.

What a fabulous day and perfect seas. Service is fantastic on the sky deck. Highly recommend spending the extra to do the sky deck experience. Service is fantastic, great food and plenty of refreshment. Great views of the wildlife and cliffs and topped with the lunch at wineglass.

Exceptional day. A truly memorable experience. The crew were amazing and Ewan was most attentive to my husband and one other lady that didn't fair to well. He even packed their lunches to take with them as they weren't up to eating. Watching the dolphins swim alongside us was incredibly. Thank you all for a wonderful day.

Wow! Great experience, brilliant crew and a fun outing for the family. The ploughman’s lunch was really delicious and the (hilarious) crew went out of their way to make us safe and comfortable. We were so lucky to get the hat-trick trifecta of seeing whales, seals and dolphins (2 x kinds) in the one day. Thank you for a memorable day!

100% recommend this! It’s such a fun way to experience Wineglass Bay and the Tasman Sea. The entire team is super funny and kind and they really make sure you’re having a good time.
When I went, we saw lots of wildlife and the captain made sure everybody had a chance to see it all! Great fun and I would definitely tour with this company again!!

What a wonderful, memorable experience! We were up on the Sky Lounge. The staff were exceptional. Noah was an incredibly knowledgeable and skilled skipper. Josh was so attentive and funny and he made the journey so much more relaxing and entertaining. The food was great and the sights were spectacular. We were a little concerned about the weather and it got a little bumpy while out in the Tasman, but we were prepared with motion sickness tablets. In response to some other people’s complaints about getting sea sick - it’s a boat… in the ocean. Bring some Travacalm if you want to have a good time!
Lastly, the length of lunch while anchored at Wineglass Bay was perfect in our eyes. Just enough time to have a short nap 😆
Thank you for an awesome day! Would highly recommend this experience to everyone.

A little late to the Party in writing this review.
My partner and I experienced this amazing cruise in Coles Bay in July and to say unforgettable is an understatement.
During our trip we understood that the Island state gets sleepy on Tourism, which only made our experience of this vessel better.
We had the opportunity to venture on board in the ‘Sky lounge’ and chat throughout the tour with the Captain.
On this occasion we were even luckier as the Captain was also the proprietor, Rob.
His hospitality and overall demeanour towards his home and his business was nothing short of wonderful.
The stories and special places along the coastline he shared with us was a core
memory for me personally.
In the lounge area while enjoying a constant stream of Tassie sparkling we got to chatting with Libby who took care of our every request while on board.
The conversation was genuine and fun and her enthusiasm for the work she did only added to our own enjoyment.
We were lucky enough to see a young humpback whale completely breach the water as well as a multitude of seals.
Lunch was served for us on deck when the ship stopped in Wineglass Bay and I cannot recommend it enough. Fresh Oysters from the markets and what was effectively a grazing board for each of us. Liberally topped up with sparkling for safe measure.
While we chose the more expensive experience options available there is a price
Point on the cruise for all budgets.
The staff are genuine, knowledgeable and the service was without fault.
We took part in a few Cruises while in Tasmania but we will happily return just for this Cruise.
My only regret is not taking a few more photos of the experience to share.
Thank you again!

SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
We went during August and weren't sure what to expect, but it was so fantastic.
The crew were a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. We saw Dolphins, Albatross, Seals and even ORCAS! It was very cool and totally worth the money.

Highly recommend this cruise tour. From the Captain to the entire crew who go above & beyond to make the cruise completely enjoyable.
Capt Robert knows his stuff and gives a live guided tour of wine glass bay no prerecorded tour. So much local insight & knowledge about the area.
We were lucky enough to see dolphins, seals, whales and bird life.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and could not recommend this cruise tour more strongly.
Shout out to Captain Rob, Josh & crew!!

What a great experience. We were lucky enough to go on a day were there weren't many guests. It was almost like a private charter. The conditions were excellent so Noah, our captain, was able to get a little closer to some of the remarkable places to see up close. To see this beautiful area from the the water was unbelievable. Noah's knowledge and passion for the area was amazing. The other staff we very friendly and knowledgeable as well. We had some Dolphins swim along side us for a while. which was a great highlight. We anchored in Wine Glass Bay for a really nice lunch before heading back. I would highly recommend going on this tour. A huge thumbs up!!

Unforgettable Cruise experience with Wineglass Bay Cruises! We had Lady Luck smiled on us, because the weather is fantastic! The crew are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The lunch provided is extremely healthy too. On this cruise we manage to see seals and a large pod of bottlenose dolphins, what a treat! We truely enjoyed this cruise.

This is a cool trip! Do it! Always interesting reading others reviews, where they give negative reviews due to either being sea sick or risking their lives in bad weather. We’re seasoned sailors who took the kids on an adventure… and we loved every minute of it. The kids had a blast… all 5 of em. Huge thanks to the crew, who had a great sense of humour throughout the trip too! Job well done guys! And thanks for an amazing experience!

We had an awesome cruise with all of the staff and crew fantastic.
We were lucky enough to get the “Trifecta” with Dolphins, seals and whales.
If you are unsure whether you want to do the cruise.
We would say it is a must do.

Absolutely perfect!
Even the bad jokes from the crew were kinda funny and added to the day.
After an overcast day the day before the sun came out and it was beautiful. Not too hot, just perfect.
The cruise originated in Coles Bay but they came to the Freycinet Lodge pier and picked us all up.
The boat was perfect and not too crowded but I am guessing that it fills up in peak season.
The crew were very attentive and made sure that nobody tripped or fell because of the motion of the boat. They made sure that everyone was comfortable and if you started to feel a touch green, as a couple of passengers did, they made sure that there was no embarrassment and they did their utmost to make you feel better.
The ongoing commentary about where we were and where we were going was excellent. Lots of information but delivered in a way that it did not become monotonous.
We were VERY lucky as the seas were like a mill pond, especially for the Tasman Sea.
...and then there was the wildlife.
Apart from all the different birds that we saw during the cruise, which included an albatross and some petrels, we saw an Australian Fur Seal, a couple of camera shy whales and a large pod of dolphins that came back to play a couple of times. They were having so much fun riding the pressure wave in front of the boat and they were so close that you could almost reach out and touch them.
Lunch at Wineglass Bay was perfect. The ploughman's lunch was just right and the shop on the boat had cold beer that was actually cold, REALLY cold. The white sands of Wineglass Bay was the perfect backdrop to a perfect lunch on a perfect day.
Our cruise was prebooked for us and we didn't know that there was an option for upper deck or lower deck. Thanks to Tasmania dot com for not passing on that bit of information or giving us the option. That being said, I preferred the lower deck anyway because I spent most of the cruise in the open area at the bow, and that was not an option if I had been on the upper deck.
I would just like to mention the crew/staff again. They were all excellent at what they do and looked after all us tourists very well. There was one that delivered bad jokes the whole cruise because, as he said, he had a captive audience. The groans and laughter just added to an already wonderful experience.
This cruise is a must if you are in Coles Bay or staying at Freycinet Lodge, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

An excellent day on the water with the crew. We saw seals, dolphins and albatrosses.
The staff were lovely and professional, especially when dealing with sea sickness. They did anything to make sure you were comfortable and anything they could to make you feel better. 10/10.
The Wineglass Bay Lookout Track offers a relatively easy hike that takes about 40 minutes round trip. The trail is steep but the terrain is manageable, making it accessible to most hikers. Visiting in the morning allows for a quieter and more peaceful experience at this beautiful lookout point.

Such a special lookout and highlight on your trip to the island! The lookout has a good wide set of timber stairs and boardwalk with a viewing platform at the top providing 360 degree views between the North and South islands. Toilet facilities. Free car parking. Boardwalk to the beach too. Not to be missed!

An absolute must when visiting Bruny island, it's a quick pit stop that you would naturally pass after visiting the cheese factory and Bruny island honey store. Key tips below:
☀️🌧️ WEATHER
I have visited the lookout in both rainy and sunny conditions and can definitely say the rain and clouds did not detract from the view or experience. The view is just as beautiful and stunning!
🪜 STAIRS
You will need to climb a fair few steps to reach the top of the lookout, but it's definitely manageable.
🚽🔓 TOILETS
There are also toilets available (the locks don't exactly work, so be mindful you might want someone guarding your stall.
🚗 PARKING
There is a parking lot available, so it's really easy to drive to + park at. Even on a busy day you shouldn't have any issues finding parking.

The Neck Game Reserve Lookout on Bruny Island is a really cool place. There's plenty of parking and bathrooms, which is handy. You gotta climb some stairs to get to the awesome view, but trust me, it's totally worth it. The view is like a 360-degree movie of Bruny Island's beauty – the ocean, hills, and green stuff everywhere.
It can get a bit windy up there, but it just adds to the fun. And guess what? There's a short path that takes you to a chill beach. It's like a bonus feature to the already amazing view.
So, if you like nature and want a quick escape, this place is perfect. You can take great pictures, feel the wind, and even enjoy a peaceful beach. It's a must-visit if you're checking out Bruny Island.

Was here early last year on a trip to Tassie. Nice place to see, with a great view. Be mindful of there is lots of stairs to climb but the view is worth it. Plenty of parking and toilet facilities are there too. There is another boardwalk going down to the beach, which is worthwhile to check out.

A must stop over as you travel between North and South Bruny. Good parking, but can get busy. Broad steps lead up to multiple vantage points, a level for every age and fitness. Offering views to the North East, South East and back across Great Bay, to the Big Island on the Western shores. Good photo opportunity and a comfort stop - facilities clean and modern.
Christopher McKellar — Google review
such an amazing view point! definitely worth the walk. it’s nice because once you gain elevation you get better views of the neck and you can see much farther. there are interpretation signs at the top and along the way and public toilets at the car park

Stunning views of one of the most spectacular parts of Bruny Island. It's 212 stairs to the top, so get ready!
🐧 Yes, you can see penguins! Take the lower boardwalk, they come out of the ocean seasonally after sunset. Bring red cellophane for your torch, no flash photos and read the signage.
🚘 Small car park, probably gets crowded in peak season. No stopping along the road. Drive carefully at dusk and dawn for wildlife.
Stacey Hunter — Google review
Visiting this place during inclement weather might not be the best idea. The rain and wind can significantly affect the experience. Consider planning your visit for a day with better weather to fully enjoy what this place has to offer.

Let me preface this by saying, if you're after creature comforts, this lookout isn't for you. It's a bit of a trek - nearly 300 steps up a steep dune! But let me tell you, the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking. 360 degrees of pure Tasmanian beauty - sparkling ocean on both sides, the lush greenery of Bruny Island sprawling out, and even a glimpse of mainland Tasmania in the distance. It's like something out of a postcard, but somehow even better.
I was a little worried about the climb at first, not gonna lie. But the steps are well-maintained, and there are even a few rest stops along the way. And honestly, the anticipation of the view just kept me going. Once I reached the top, all that effort melted away. It was like I could see forever.
I spent a good long while up there, just soaking it all in. There's a handy observation platform with information boards that point out all the different landmarks you can see. I even spotted a few wallabies grazing in the distance, which was a nice little bonus.
So, if you're looking for a stunning view and a bit of a challenge, The Neck Game Reserve Lookout is definitely worth the effort. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water for the climb. And trust me, your camera will thank you!

Quite a few steps, but still easy enough to climb to the top. Nice view, and also nice to come along at night time to see the penguins, but you can't use a normal torch or mobile light, so good to be prepared and come with a red light if u want to see the penguins.

A mandatory stop when visiting Bruny Island. Good parking, though may be busy. The view from the top is spectacular, but you have to climb over 200 steps, but it's worthwhile. Steer clear of the toilet it was super dirty when we visited. Apart from this, everything was good and the place is absolutely gorgeous and the air quality in Bruny is great, refreshing and enriching.

Historic Aboriginal site, the steps lead to a memorial for Truganini — powerful Nuenonne woman who fought for the justice of her People. For more information about the injustice of Truganini — she spent time locked up in Cascades Woman’s Factory and her body was buried there against her wishes, later exhumed and desecrated by white authorities until her body petitioned the Govt to return her remains to them for cremation in the strait as were her wishes.
Other features Windy place with expansive views, and bird & penguin rookery.

Fantastic view on both sides as you reach the top of this lookout. As the name suggests this lookout sits in between the sea. The scene is enjoyable from top accessible via stairs, a couple of parkings is available. One of the must to visit in this island. This can be better with accessibility if lifts were introduced.

Really nice lookout. Was lucky and sun came out. Yes you have to climb "a couple" of stairs, bit it's well worth it! Even though there is a ♿ sign at the entrance, the lookout is not wheelchair friendly (the lookout at the other side is). Highly recommend!

A famous spot for the scenic view and picturesque photos you can take here.
Very much a touristy spot so expect them to be around.
Can get a little windy at the top and be ready to climb the stairs - the effort is well worth it though.

My partner proposed to me at the top of the stairs so of course I love this spot!
You may get a little puffed out on the climb up, but the view is spectacular and well worth the stop on your travels around Bruny Island

An obligatory place to visit on Bruny Island, it did not dissapoint with the views. The carpark was quite busy although people are constantly coming and going so the wait for a spot wasn't long.
A short walk up the stairs and you are greeted with a beautiful picture worthy 360 degree view.
There are toilets on site and is not too long of a drive from the ferry.

Such a beautiful lookout, but very busy on a beautiful day! Would recommend getting their early if the weather is clear and sunny. We also went back at sunset which we would also recommend as their was less people and the views were just immaculate! Be prepared for lots of stairs though!

Beautiful, especially on a grey windswept day. I recommend a walk on the beach - despite the number of people climbing to the lookout, we had the beach almost to ourselves.
