It is ok… not much for look out… we can see some of the mining entrances….road is very rusty… not much car parking.. we spent barely 10 mins

Twilight is the best time to visit this lookout over the gulleys and mines of Hill End. Rough but beautiful country.
Kate O'Neill — Google review
Well worth the effort to drive out to the spot to see the view of the Hill End diggings that Merlin photographed. Despite the road being dirt, you should have no trouble getting out here with a 2WD.
As an added bonus, if you are into geocaching, there is a cache within 50m of the lookout.
Jonathan Auld — Google review
It’s a bit of a dirt track to get the lookout, but the view, and peace and quiet was mind blowing. Watch out if you take the kids, there are no fences!
If you crave tranquility-come to this piece of paradise.
Andrew R — Google review
This beautiful spot for taking in a great sunset was just a short drive from our campsite in Hill End. It was quiet place to sit and relax at the end of a day spent exploring the Historic area of Hill End.
Angela Chapman — Google review
Beautiful lookout, just about 2km from the town centre. Perfect for sunrise but not for sunset ❤️
Mera Savage — Google review
Amazing view but the lookout is basically just the edge of a cliff/extremely steep embankment (no fence or rail) with a bench seat and history info board. The ground in the area is very loose and rocky underfoot making you a bit anxious trying to enjoy the view whilst watching your footing and being safe.
Samantha Shipstone — Google review
Great views along the valley from this lookout. A great place for sunrise. The road in is a bit rough and there is only a small turning circle and basically no parking once you arrive at the lookout. Still managed to get the motorhome in though! Less tree blockage than the nearby Split Rock Lookout, so you actually get a better view from here.
Suzanne Goldsmith — Google review
Stunning look out point with secret entrance to loop around 4x4 4WD track. On the way up to Merlins lookout there is a road to the right with "no through road" and if you turn there and go past the commerical shed down a bit you can jump onto a 4x4 track that loops around to the Hill End Tip. You will definitely need a 4WD, unlike the bridle track it's a little more difficult

Spectacular views over the holls contaiming so many mines
Must see exhibition which includes the extraordinary photographic record made during Hill Ends 1870s heyday. Interesting exhibition includes mining displays and short film about town establishment and subsequent State Heritage Listing.
Zeglar “Zeg” Fergus — Google review
Great place with alot of history in one spot, the owners have done a great job with so many artefacts on display. We will be back. And the kids loved it.
The venue does not have eftpos facilities.

This is the best local information centre I’ve been to. It’s more like a museum and gallery. The collection shows the rich history of Hill End and the technology tastefully brings it all to life. There’s something for all ages. Once you’re done head next door for a coffee at the cosy General Store.

Absolutely loved All hill end had to offer sooo beautiful and rich in history cant wait to go back

A must place to visit whilst at Hill End. A lot of mining artifacts and provides visitors a historical insight of Hill End. It provides you with an idea how the village was like.
A recommended "must visit" before exploring Hill End.

Hidden gem in a very unassuming place.. entrance doesn’t do it justice but wow. The artefacts and that tunnel is fantastic and an amazing climb out to finish. It’s cash only so be sure to get cash from the Royal Hotel in Hill End

Great place, very interesting and informative! The museum is an absolute treasure trove and if you take the time to read the information above the displays it will take at least an hour or so. The owner has poured his heart and soul into this place and it deserves to be acknowledged and supported.
K M — Google review
You could get lost in here for hours.. so much to see and read and the collection of artefacts and information around days gone by is amazing. Well worth a visit. Kids loved the mine and the ladder climb to get out... you can really imagine what it would have been like for the early miners. Fantastic value for $10 and you would be hard pushed to find better.
Alastair Hogbin — Google review
Excellent museum, extensive collection of interesting historical artefacts, informative video and self guided mine walk.
Nevill Inglis — Google review
We recently had the pleasure of experiencing an unexpected surprise visit to History Hill which turned out to be a fascinating journey through Australian and Gold history, even incorporating some Chinese aspects. The museum was a treasure trove of artifacts, exhibits, displays and rooms showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The museum also had an extensive collection of gold nuggets, coins, and other artifacts, highlighting the importance of gold in shaping Australia's economy and history. The exhibits provided a fascinating insight into the lives of the prospectors and the impact that the gold rush had on the Australian landscape and economy.
The museum had several exhibits that showcased the contributions of the Chinese miners, including their innovative mining techniques and their cultural traditions. It was eye-opening to see how the Chinese culture had influenced the development of the mining industry in Australia, and how they had adapted to life in a new and unfamiliar land.
Our unexpected visit to this local museum was an unforgettable experience. I was impressed by the breadth and depth of the exhibits, and the interactive displays made the history come alive.
We highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in Australian history, mining, or just looking for a fascinating and educational day out. Although it is looking a bit tired and dated, it is well worth going! But remember TAKE CASH! $10 per adult! But absolutely worth it! Seriously though, take cash. The whole town operates on cash (or gold if you're lucky enough to find it!).

Amazing Museum, 10Aud for one time Miner experience in traditional way. They accept cash only.Museum have huge space and so pretty nice of everything.

Incredible collection, owned and operated by a man so full of knowledge he is like a real life google.
Anyone who has any interest in history and especially Hill End should come and visit this awesome facility
MIDLIFE GAPYEAR — Google review
Museum is nice and more entertaining than expected, even though there is lots of old junk like in many other similar places. I like that kind of stuff though and it has it's charm. Going through the mine is a true highlight, with several stretches of vertical steps at the other end. Definitely must visit in the area.
A S — Google review
Unfortunately this location appears a little run down. There is definitely a lot of potential and some very interesting history to look at. I don't think this place is for everyone. It is a cash only entry so if you are intending on visiting then make sure you visit ATM prior.
Dan Duncan — Google review
Very interesting museum with amazing collections. The underground mine is exciting. The highlight is the ladder at the end of the mine.
Stef Qu — Google review
Very interesting display of history, with an amazing mine which was built by hand. Even the teenagers had fun exploring History Hill. Definalty will return, due to the owners lovely demeanor and knowledge. Cash only but it is a country location and should be expected.
Michelle Kemp — Google review
Great collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Could easily spend a couple of hours here. Clean amenities and nice views of the surrounding mining area. Bring light lunch and picnic in the grounds after your tour. The owner is a nice eccentric fella. Will recommend this place to everyone.

Great place to go and explore some history.
Some very cool items to look at my son loved looking at all the old artefacts and guns the mine was cool to go though.
The owner was lovely to talk to

A great museum that's chokka block full of fun facts, a mine !, dust, interesting artifacts and bric a brac. If you have school age children (or a school group) the main museum building looks like it was designed just for you. Though we are much older ... we enjoyed it too. 😁
I love this little local craft shop so much I plan my trips to Central West NSW to always detour via Molong.
First, I love the concept behind this shop. Locals making things to support the retirement accommodation run by this association for the elderly helping them to stay in their community.
Second, staffed by lovely older Molong locals, a visit here transports me to a time when having a chat was part of the shopping experience. Take the time to have a conversation and find out about life in Molong.
I don’t pay a lot of attention to the some of craft things on offer (I will make an effort next time) however I am obsessed with the jams and chutneys.
Nothing mass produced here. In jars of all sorts of sizes, the labels and hand written (spidery handwriting on some) complying with what we need to know. Ask the volunteer staff and you discover the jam maker’s name and that they grew the berries/fruits locally, then making the jam. The preserves are just wonderful. I told you I am obsessed.
I never leave without a box of jars to take home. I had better get back there to contribute to the Molong economy and retirement project.

A Treasure Trove
A lovey cottage full of local handmade crafts and produce mostly sold on consignment on behalf of the Yarn Market Craft Cottage members. You can find all sorts of hand knitting, baby goods, wooden toys, patchwork and quilts. There is a lot to see and the members obviously take great pride in their work, the good prices make it easy to choose but a little difficult to walk away.
The cottage is staffed by locals who are very friendly and have a vast knowledge of the regions history, so interesting to talk to.

A really great place and well worth the drive from Orange out...beautiful stock and plenty of it.
We had wanted to come to Mudgee Observatory but was quite sadden that all the tours had been booked out weeks ahead. (Make sure you book in early if you're planning a trip here). Thankfully, John was super nice and showed us around during the day. We even got to see some solar flares with the telescopes! Definitely a highlight of our trip. Do make sure you book ahead so you won't miss out!

John has put together a great set up. Very informative and clearly has a passion for what he does. High recommend a visit when in town.

John's observatory was an awesome experience. He's very Knowledgeable picking out great views to look at through his telescopes. I really enjoyed the educational evening getting to appreciate the night sky outside of the city by spending a bit of time in a group of like minded people.
Thanks John!!

Thank you. Had a wonderful informative evening. Looking at the stars, a great set up on his property. With video & memorabilia. Even provided a hot cuppa and biscuits. It was well worth the drive & tricky road in the dark.

Great experience. John knows his stuff and he'll really open your eyes to the amazing world of astronomy. On our trip we were lucky to see Saturn (including the rings)!
Elvin Keung — Google review
Amazing experience! It was so beautiful sitting under a blanket of stars and hearing all about our universe. Then there was the bonus of the collection of images, videos and artefacts. So worth a visit. My 9 year old can’t wait to go back.
Carolyn McG — Google review
If you do one thing in Mudgee - do this! Once you get over the mildly terrifying (for us Londoners) drive through the middle of nowhere in pitch black you are welcomed with a warm drink and friendly smile and introduction from John who has a wealth of knowledge and has crafted a beautiful observatory in his own home. 10/10.
Thomas D — Google review
Had a great time, John shared alot of his knowledge with us and had a genuine interest for sharing it with everyone there.
Josh Bright — Google review
Really excellent and informative. A good balance between time looking through the telescopes and a slide presentation. John is obviously very passionate about all things astronomy and peppered the night with interesting facts. Great value. Bring very warm clothes for winter evenings.
Kate Doherty — Google review
A cosy, intimate and relaxed set up. John was brilliant at explaining all the stars and how things worked. He was happy to answer any questions we had. The backyard set up was so different to any experience I've had, we absolutely loved it. Well worth a trip, would do it again
A little hidden gem. Surprised that it wasn't well mapped out on Google maps. The entrance to the gardens is before the point set out on Google maps. Once you go in, it's mostly a self guided tour. Great place to go in and enjoy the serenity. Any SUV would be ideal to drive around the gardens. We drove around in our Camry, and it was a little tricky. The fern gardens were great! Would recommend
Lillian James — Google review
Great garden. We were the only ones there and while we only went to the Fern Gully route (due to time constraints), it's a great relaxing place and we would definitely come another time when we visit the area again and can spend more time here. Also saw a group of kangaroos speed past us while we were in the Fern Gully section.

A beautiful place to walk.
I love this man made rainforest
Hopefully this place will be wheelchair friendly one day.
But new signage will replace old. The manager and staff are working hard every day to improve conditions.
Friends of the Arboretum work tirelessly.
And are always willing to answer your questions.
Please walk in the wonderland.
Take water.
You can picnic or barbeque.

This garden has an amazing collection of native species. Many are rare and many are very beautiful. The garden seems to be making a strong recovery after the drought two years ago. This season has seen lots of new growth. If you love plants this is worth a trip.
Greg Swinfield — Google review
Great for people interested in plants, but also really good for bird watchers. Fern gully is a great spot for kids. Huge range of plants from around Australia. Keep an eye out for echidnas, kangaroos and emus.
Not far from town. What a lovely place. There’s a variety of honey to taste before buying. Lots of varieties to choose from and there’s choc honey comb chocolate for sale as well. Small cafe in the front which sells honey flavoured ice creams. Car park available on site. Highly recommended.
Raj Achariya — Google review
This was a great surprise as I have never seen such a comprehensive display of honey related items. From the different pollen flavoured honeys, to therapeutics, to wines they have it all. It was also nice to be able to talk with the knowledgeable staff about the produce and their obvious passion for their products.
Revital Youthspan — Google review
We were driving from dubbo back to Sydney and did a stop at honey haven. The store is beautifully presented and the lady was very friendly giving us a taste of all the honey. We got the banana flavored honey which we thought would go well with pancakes. The shoo also sells honey ice cream $5, has putt putt golf for the kids, coffee cakes and even honey wines. Heaps of chutney, sauces, oils, honey gifts,

Just 4-5 minutes out of town. Amazing array of honey products, not just for eating. Skin care exfoliator and moisturiser makes my skin softer than a baby's. Honey mead is not my cup of tea but must be good, the old boy bought 3 bottles of it. Small cafe for lunch or morning tea. Worth a look
Mary Wagner — Google review
Gorgeous selection of honeys and honey-related products: candles, mead, cosmetics; bee-themed tea towels, aprons and canvas bags and so on. Also a coffee shop offering good, sturdy coffee and various baked goods.

Their meads are also great tasting too!
So glad we've bought a big box of honey filled with different selections.

What a hidden gem!
Well worth pulling in and sampling the huge range on offer, not just honey.
Left happy with a box full of items.

Great shop with so many products related to honey and bees wax. There’s a central honey tasting area, a sample of lotions and scrubs, and a cafe that sells honey flavoured ice creams which were delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful, always asking if you need any help. They’re quite funny too even when having problems with the credit card machines. Made for a nice little shopping trip.

Very friendly staff to serve the honey mead tasting and the products. An unique honey ice cream made by chef is selling here! Love it very much.
Sandy Y — Google review
I really like this place, you can taste different types of honey in here. They also offer wines and non-alcoholic drinks made from honey which are awesome! They sell souvenirs, skin cares from honey. One thing you must try is their honey ice cream! But the ice cream has egg ingredients so be careful if you are allergic to eggs.
Hermione Le — Google review
A lovely place with super friendly and knowledgeable staff… you will find alcohols and spirits produced with honey… so unique and memorable experience… you can taste different varieties of honey and test different skin care products made with honey too along with honey mead tastings. we loved the spiced honey mead and bee care exfoliator… you will also get non- alcoholic honey based sparkling drinks… kids loved it… and something different to regular wine tasting experience…

Great shop, awesome tastings and lots of great products. Worth a visit.
Beautiful organic winery set out a little bit from town with knowledgeable staff (the wine maker took us through our tasting). I really enjoyed the organic Chardonnay, the Muscat, the Shiraz and especially the block 10 organic Shiraz. A little quieter than the other wineries north of Mudgee (but that a good thing).
Karl Chong — Google review
Fantastic organic winery. All 3 chardonay's enjoyed by all 4 of us. The wine maker was very informative and extremely accommodating. Thurston, the Jack Russell enjoyed the company again after covid isolation and has a collection of scarfs. Look for heart vine weaving
Helen Sullivan — Google review
I'll be the first to admit that I'm generally apprehensive about "organic & vegan friendly" wines. However, as this has been my second visit to Thistle Hill... No preservatives usually just means it won't be set aside for the cellar and you'll probably have to finish the bottle the same day it's been opened. Never a problem at our house. James has been an awesome ambassador of the vineyard and their products. Seeing him twice in a row has been great.
Love this winery. Absolutely top of the list, and we went to a heap of f wineries in Mudgee! Loved the wine, definitely will find something you'd like here and well worth the visit. Staff were really lovely and made you feel valued and had a proper conversation with you. 5 stars from me!

Beautifully rustic with a vine draped balcony area, clustered outdoor garden seating on lush grass and a relaxed atmosphere. Platter board or easy to eat pizzas. The Rose was delicious. Perfect for a slow afternoon with your partner or a group of friends. Ample car parking on site.
Amanda Beale — Google review
Great wine and great food. We shared an antipasto platter that was made up from local produce. The 2 best wines for us were the Moscato and the Merlot. The wine tasting is a must and leads you through the history of the vineyard and what was behind the names of the wines. Great afternoon in the sun and thoroughly recommend.

Wasn’t the most personable experience unfortunately. Busy Easter weekend so I understood staff were stretched but the person servicing us was a bit short and forgot one of our tastings so we left without it. Beautiful setting however and we enjoyed the tasting platter

Being a wedding photographer and working at Burnbrae often, I knew I needed to get married here!
We chose Burnbrae, Not just because of their incredible wine and beer but because of the versatility. We really envisioned a wedding that was fully outside under the fairy lights and they didn’t disappoint! The fact that it also has an amazing wet weather option really made our decision final.
Dotty and the Burnbrae team were amazing to work with and made our wedding so much fun.
Nothing was ever an issue for Dotty and she was so helpful in every aspect of our day.
She literally made our wedding dreams come to life. All of our guests are still talking about how good the day was. We are so glad to have booked Burnbrae and it will always have a special place in our hearts.
Thank you so much to Dotty and the Burnbrae team. – Steph & Tom

We stopped in today for a visit and were extremely well looked after by Katrina who took us through the Burnbrae selection. Thanks so much for a really enjoyable morning!

My husband and I just had our wedding reception at Burnbrae and it was simply amazing. The venue, the staff, the finishing touches on everything - it was everything we could have dreamed up, and so much more. We also have had many of our guests sending us messages raving about the space and the wine. Thank you Dotty!!! You are the best event manager in the world!

We had a very nice visit, the staff were great to chat with, they explained everything and answered all our questions. We made a decent purchase of wine and they looked after us on price which was nice to see in these tough financial times post Covid. We have had many previous visits there to purchase the wines and our experience is always excellent. We can recommend this place, the staff support and their beautiful selection of excellent wines.

First time to Burnbrae yesterday.
We met with Loz who poured and put up with our jokes and Andy who was a wealth of information and good humour , both of which were super friendly and knowledgeable .
We were offered a really lovely selection to sample of both wine and beer and had few good laughs as well . We ended up walking away with a few bottles not even on the tasting menu yet which we will enjoy when we get back to Sydney.
Thanks guys !!

Went to Bunbrae Estate over the Easter weekend and they were just over booked. They ran out of the ingredients for the food, were handing out Greek yogurt buckets as ice buckets as they hand run out and had very long queues to the single male and female toilets. Nice winery but they need to reinvest in their facilities if they really want to service customers.

Wedding of our dreams!!
We can't recommend highly enough having your wedding at Burnbrae.
We knew from the moment we got engaged that we wanted to book a venue in Mudgee that "felt like home", as though we were hosting everyone in the comfort and welcome of our own backyard and that is exactly the atmosphere that Dottie, Trine and everyone at Burnbrae gave us from the start.
Our guests haven't stopped raving about how happy the day was, and that is was "so us", which was executed due to the kindness and effort Burnbrae puts into executing the day how you envision it, with the utmost authenticity.
Thank you all, we look forward to popping in many more times to come to keep enjoying the delicious wines and good atmosphere!

One of Mudgee’s finest and coziest wineries. Dotty is the perfect host and makes for such a welcoming experience. Not to mention great tasting platters and wines.
Absolutely a beautiful place, great to relax, have lunch and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There's a kiosk to get good coffee and food, campsites and cabins to rent! Well worth considering coming, if you have a 4WD and boat, even better to explore! Well worth it, there's an entry fee of $15. Your furbabies must be on a leash at all times.

It was alright. If you want a nice spot, drive to the end of the park - here you can camp right on the beach. There are toilets and showers too.
Lake has a nice temperatures, ground is kind of muddy and a lot of boats driving around - not ideal for small kids.

Arrived 3:30PM for a visit only, the entry fee was still 15AUD. Not a single person there. Turned back to the dam outlook, the trees there should be cut to get the view back.
Otherwise fantastic landscape, worth going.

The cabins need money spent on them as they are looking worn out. I asked if they were going to open the pool and they said not for another couple of weeks. They then opened the pool for other holiday makers a week before the said date

The best thing about this museum is Alf and Sharon the volunteers. They are friendly and entertaining. They are very knowledgeable.
Sharon makes the scones fresh every morning and they are awesome. They have real expresso coffee. Lots of the locals just come in for the cafe.
This museum fits a lot into a small space.
I am not a museum person, so didn't look at too much. They offered us head sets for an audio recording. If you wanted to look at everything you would be here for hours.

A definite must see when travelling through. We visited the Banjo Paterson Museum which was informative with audio guides. Wonderful small-town museum! Banjo spent his early childhood on a property nearby and the museum has a great collection of related items, covering his life as well as the places and events that inspired his poetry. Alf is a fantastic host, great to yarn with, and he also runs the back room cafe - Devonshire tea with fresh scones was great. Spend an hour or so here, you’ll be glad you made the journey!
Very interesting tour for all ages. Our tour guide Bec was lovely and catered the tour for old and young adventurers alike. There are also other activities besides the tours that are accessible for free including a bush walk with marked fossil sites and an information centre. An excellent day trip

Unable to prebook tickets. I arrived just before it opened and somehow it was booked out until 10:30am. We decided to wait around but unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. The tour guide was amazing though. He was genuinely passionate about his job, loved sharing all his knowledge of the caves and was great with all the kids on the tour (even the bratty ones).

The cave tours are excellent. The visitors centre is great, food and souvenirs as well as plenty of local info.

Good beginner caves for kids. Not super impressive if you’ve been to many caves before, but staff is really well trained to entertain and engage with the public and it made the experience really memorable. For only 1 cave, I thought the price was a bit high, though.

Fantastic experience. Unfortunately only the Gaden cave was open when we went (we would love to have seen these other caves), but the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Thanks to our guide Paul who was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Cathedral Cave was a great first time cave experience for our children (11 and 13). The cave goes down quite deep with the grand finale being a small well filled with beautiful blue water.

Our family joined the Cathedral Tour and it was perfect. From the moment we were arrived, we were greeted with friendly staff at the counter. Try to arrive earlier to check out the free exhibition in the centre.
We joined the last tour at 3.30pm on 28/12 and the guide, Bec (I think that's her name) was brilliant!! She shared so much information and plenty of Q&A.
Plenty of stairs to climb but it was broken down in sections so you won't feel too tired. So many fascinating sights and facts. Again, credit to the tour guide for her excellent story telling.
Definitely a must do attraction in this area.

A hidden gem. I cannot believe we nearly
Missed this. Such history for the area… with a fabulous guide that as very interesting and engaging. The caves a beautiful. Make sure you have covered in shoes, but the walk is not to challenging… it does have a few steps, which is to be expected.

Not great access for disabled. Over 100 steps after walking up a steep incline before being able to go to caves. I understand that they are caves and it is understandable that people with walking difficulty should forget it. There is a nice Japanese walk next to the centre and we enjoyed that. The staff in the centre were very friendly and we had coffees and 1 blueberry muffin between us! My sister in law’s idea as we don’t need the calories but the bit I had was delicious.

You need to book during school holidays. I only rated this 1 ⭐️ so this I for would come up.
The museum is small but has a great interactive video work and a great megafauna skeleton.
They also have a great free self guided fossil walk which is flat about 800m loop. 20 to 40 mins
Thirdly they have a Japanese garden which is free and good for 20min look around or a picnic (no picnic tables)
Kids play ground next visitor Center too

Amazing place, did guided cave tour today which was amazing. Paul, our guide was very knowledgeable with good sense of humour. Highly recommended!!

Great caving experience, with 2 caves to choose from, tours leave at different times and are limited to certain numbers of people, so best to check online for tour times before attending. Our tour guide Emma was fabulous, she is very knowledgeable and made the whole experience great, she particularly engaged the little kids and kept their interest throughout the hour long tour. Nice facilities onsite with a cafe and information centre.

We stayed here in our Caravan. It was a lovely caravan park. The amenities were lovely and clean and the showers were great with plenty of water pressure. We didn’t go through the caves this time as we had our little fur baby with us but we have been through them last time we were here and really enjoyed them. The Japanese Gardens are across the road. These are just beautiful and peaceful.
Beautiful park, well maintained, every visit is always a pleasure to go for a walk!!

A new and interesting playground under majestic mature trees.
My 3 year old and 7 year old had a fun time playing on the equipment. It varies from having the soft and clean flooring to bark.
The trees around this playground are phenomenal. I looked one up and apparently its a Himalayan Cedar right behind the wedge tailed eagle statue.
The gardens around the park were well maintained featuring gorgeous roses.
If the town now had a full paint job to match this incredible park it would be truly spectacular.

The children's play are was quite modern and relatively well kept. There were a few pieces of equipment that were broken, so caution is advised with young kids. Lots to explore for all ages, and there's picnic benches and shaded areas nearby, alongside toilet facilities. There's a small grassland area nearby too.

Great little park on a main strip with a coles and other foods available such as bakery and kebab shop. A little walk along the park offers views of flowers, a children's playground, entrance to the local pools as well as a brief step in time to read about the history of the Wellington baths.
If you're going to stop in Wellington for a breather its a great place to stretch the legs

A great example of a good country pub. I had the T-Bone Special for $30 and it was the best T-Bone I've had at a pub. My daughter's schnitzel was pretty good too. Service was exemplary by the staff. If we ever come back to Wellington we'll definitely visit again. Also as a Rugby head, it was great to see that the hotel sponsors the local Rugby Club as the game needs all the support it can get at all levels.

The Grand hotel at Welli gton NSW was completely refurbished in 2020 and is a lovely pub now. Nice modern main bar, sports bar and dining areas. We had salt n pepper squid, cheesey garlic bread and a steak sandwich for lunch. Great food at reasonable prices. Nice friendly staff and big selection of beverages. Highly recommended.
Devonshire Teas, why are they so great! And they certainly were here, the lovely volunteers recommended them and why not.
But, we came to see the house and learn a little of the area’s history.
I’m glad it was saved from ruin and is now an amazing example of early settlement and local wealth. Mind you, those days must of been very tough.
The grounds are well maintained and the displays informative.
Thank you all for putting on the day for us to enjoy.

An interesting visit to a well presented homestead. The restoration is excellent, and they've left one room how it was when they got to it so you can see how far it went. There are several buildings and each has some information about the use, history etc which was great. I'd recommend this for .morning activity - I think we spent about an hour there.

We'll worth visiting, but hours are restricted to 11-2 on Sat-Mon. Described as the earliest complex slab house, it is a luxury house first built in the early 1840s. It is well presented by the National Trust, and there is also a pleasant cafe.

Established in 1977, this 300-hectare open-range zoo features animals from around the world.
We had an amazing experience at the zoo! The fallow deer was a standout as we happened to be there at feeding time.
The zoo was busy in the morning but from about 2:30 onwards a calm descended over the zoo and it was wonderful.
We went back a second day because we loved it so much.
Kylie Archer — Google review
We had a great time at the Zoo. Driving around takes about 3hrs to see most of the exhibits but not rushing. Next time we will be going using the electric buggies and would recommend going this way if you have a family or small group.
The animals appear to have great enclosures with lots of space to roam, not feeling trapped. They all look well taken care of.
There’s plenty to look at and the information on available to learn digitally about the exhibits is handy. More QR codes with text sites or videos would be appreciated.
Take the day and explore this awesome zoo.
Daniel B — Google review
Great zoo experience. We booked tickets online and a golf cart to drive around the zoo. Booking online enables you to largely skip the ticket queues. Hire times are from 9am - noon and 1pm -4pm. Whilst the carts are fun, you are competing for parking around the exhibits with other carts and cars. If it's not a rainy day it's better to hire one of their bikes or ride your own. That way you can ride right up to the exhibits. The Cafe serves delicious food and the gift shop has items for all budgets.
Jennie McKern — Google review
This is one of the nicest, prettiest, well laid out and presented zoos that we have ever been to. We decided to walk around the zoo, rather than drive a car, hire a buggy or a push bike. We loved the way that the open enclosures were set out, giving you the feeling that you were seeing the animals in the wild. The highlight of our visit? Going into the lion enclosure. What a fabulous experience seeing these magnificent animals up so close. Thank you so much for a fabulous experience.
John Gadsdon — Google review
Great zoo, friendly staff, and way to see all the exhibits. Recommend the bike hire. The bikes are well maintained, have disc breaks, and no need for gears as the paths and roads are flat. Only criticism is the signage can send you round in circles and or back to the start.
Lucy Robson — Google review
What a wonderful experience we had at the Toronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.
We hired a golf cart to get around which was great. Unfortunately I booked the AM session twice by accident and the incorrect booking was not refundable. Next time we would use our own vehicle to travel around the park (which you can do) but at least we had fun in the cart and can tick it off our bucket list. Along with feeding the giraffes 🦒. This experience is definitely worth the extra fee.
Keeper talks are informative and you can tell from the enthusiasm in their voice that they love their job and the animals they care for.
Whilst there are 2 places to eat and vending machines at picnic spot, I definitely recommend bringing your own food, snacks and cold drinks.
Our teenage children loved the experience and close they could get to most of the animals.
We will be talking about the memories we made today for a long time to come.
Vanessa James-McPhee — Google review
A significant place for families to have fun there. Animals all have prominent places to play and live, that's important for them. There are many kinds of animals, from giraffes, hippos, and rhinos to sea otters, tigers, and lions……
It would help if you wear comfortable shoes, because there is a long way to walk. But you can hire/take a bike if you can ride; it will be a brilliant idea.
Just remember to bring enough water on a hot day. It's hard to find a water fountain, or maybe they don't have one. Purchasing a bottle of water from the machine costs $7.70.

Had an absolute awesome time, would definitely recommend to anyone of any age. We had our two kids both under 3 and the grandparents and everybody had a ball. It works out cheaper of you get tickets online, there is concession prices available and kids under 3 are free. You can hire a 6 seater cart to drive around the zoo with the option of putting your kids car seats in the cart. There was also bikes available for hire if you wanted to have a ride around the zoo. Your able to drive your own vehicle or walk as well. I really loved how natural it was, there wasn't really cages rather open areas with appropriate fencing suited to that animal, with quite a few having motes around them. We had the cart for the day which I found was a good amount of time with kids to see all the animals, as you have to walk to a lot of them from the parking bays they have.
Skyandra Trinder — Google review
Great zoo with plenty of things to see.
Carts were good with room for only one car seat though and only 3 hours seems a bit short for the amount of attractions.
Bikes with kid seats and trailers seem like the better option for families to have the full day.
Decent food available and good gift shop.

The African zoo to see in Australia. Drive, bike or walk to the many different animal exhibits on offer. All tickets purchased give two days of access to the zoo and you'll need it. Walking shoes are a must. We loved every minute. Definitely will come again in the future.

You can bike, walk and drive it. You can also hire a buggy. The zoo is fabulous, they have feeding and talking times about all the animals. Plenty of cafes around the park and amenities. The keepers do a fabulous job with there info on their animals that they take care of. You can experience this on your 2 day pass. They also have accommodation.

We had the most amazing time at Dubbo zoo today. There are many different ways of getting around the zoo you can drive your car, hire a cart or bike but we chose to walk around. The enclosures were spaced apart well and noticed the animals were well looked after. The animals were all amazing and I cant wait to come back again sometime soon!
Mitchell Sleeman — Google review
We really enjoyed our day at the Zoo! Animals clearly looked after very well, loved the layout, and the carts and bikes made it much easier to get around. One of our family did the hippo encounter which was amazing. We also did the safari which we all enjoyed.
A few bits of feedback though:
Even with the cart there was a lot of walking required to see things (which having an ankle injury I struggled quite a bit more than I expected to with a cart). Not being able to go backwards in the cart meant we had to park and walk back to some exhibits as the talks didn’t align with the animal encounters we booked.
There is not enough water refill stations and we ran out of water (it was hot and we packed 3 large bottles which wasn’t enough to get between taps to refill).
The map on the app isn’t great - the paper one is much easier to use.
Take hats and plenty of sunscreen/long sleeved shirt as there’s not a lot of shade to take refuge under.
The hire bikes are great, but there are none with training wheels and our daughter was too big for the bike trailer. We ended up having to get a cart instead which was fine but a lot more expensive.

We absolutely loved a day at the Open-Plan Safari Zoo. The freedom to drive through the zoo in your own vehicle adds an adventurous twist to the traditional zoo visit.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the option to hire golf carts or bicycles, providing convenient and eco-friendly ways to explore the expansive grounds. For those who prefer a leisurely stroll, walking paths wind through the zoo.
The zoo’s regular animal shows provide captivating entertainment for visitors of all ages. There are many picnic facilities and a food shop on the premises. A visit to this zoo was surely a memorable experience for us all.

Such a cool zoo with environmental and conservation measure and efforts in place. The best way to enjoy the zoo (especially in the heat of summer) is to drive your car through. They also have buggy’s for rent as well as bikes if you are feeling up for it. My favourites were the rhinos and the tortoises. Must say that the australia exhibits were really lacking compared to the rest of the park
Madi Ainsworth — Google review
Amazing zoo, lots of animals, can get pretty hot in the summer but easy to navigate around. They also offer bike option and golf cart. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable and love to answer questions. There are a lot of talks and shows available so get a timetable before you start. Highly recommend to visit!

A beautiful place to visit with your family! Having a Zoo Friends family pass allowed us unlimited entry into the park so we could take our time to go around with the little ones.
If you can, I’d recommend visiting from age 1 up as the little one can ride with n adult on the bike or cart. It makes getting on and off a breeze without the hassle of buckling and unbuckling them from a car seat.
Also I 100% recommend staying onsite for at least a night, again with kids it allows you to take the time to explore without the rush. We stayed at the Zoofari Lodge which was pricy but absolutely worth it at least once, especially in the animal view room where you can sit back and watch the rhinos sleeping, giraffes eating. It includes a behind the scenes tour in the afternoon where you can feed giraffes, a morning tour seeing elephants bathe and a drive inside the safari to see the animals up close. My little one loved it! Also recommended for at least 2.5 years up so the little ones can understand and appreciate it better.
Dinner was a mini banquet style dinner, for us being big eaters with was on the lighter side and a tad sweet for our preference but still enjoyed it. They were also able to accommodate dietaries the best they can. Breakfast was more filling as we could add on items, they had a option for pancake & full English breakfast, I had both 🙈
I only wish the check out was later so we could enjoy the view for longer, so I do suggest if you can skip one of the tours just so you can take time to enjoy the views especially if it’s winter where the sun goes down earlier.
Staff were all wonderful and hard workers! Doing the tours and serving us at dinner/breakfast.
Would go again!

Amazing wildlife experience, you can walk, ride a bike, hire an electric buggy or drive your vehicle around the 5km of roads and tracks. The ticket is valid for two days. Well worth it when in Dubbo. Excellent facilities all around the zoo, with two large cafes and a kids waterpark. Allow plenty of time to attend the feedings and guide talks throughout the day.

It's such an amazing zoo.
We spent the day driving around the zoo with our own car. The animals have so much room that you can see how happy and healthy they are. We did the hippo experience with zoo keeper Glyn he was amazing it was one of the best animal experiences ever learned so much about these beautiful animals and got to feed them up close, we also did the safari tour with Kate she was amazing. The whole day here, and it was filled with unforgettable memories. We highly recommend this zoo.

Such a lovely zoo, you can hire bikes, safari cart (seats 6) or drive round the zoo. We hired the bikes, with a baby seat. It's a work out but worth it. You don't have to park and keep hoping out and in.
Only downside was that we needed to get back by half 3 to get the bikes back but the park doesn't close until 4, we found that we had to rush round the end of the park.
What was really cool at the time was the hospital was showing a lion on the table that was getting a check over. Super awesome.
This Is a must see if you are in the area

Highly recommend doing the early walk pre-opening as a great way to see much of the zoo and get a nice insiders perspective before all the crowds. The volunteers are very friendly and insightful and do a great job of guiding the group around with the commentary.
If you come during Easter, get in early! Unsurprisingly very very popular but worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Just do this and enjoy the moments.
You need more than a few hours. It’s around 5kms long but you need to stop often and read the QR code information about each amazing animal.
You’ll be amazed at the array of animal the park has and seeing them in a relaxed natural environment.
Staff are fun and informative.
You can bike, cart, tour and self-drive yourself around each point.
A few toilet spots throughout and a cafe also.
Absolutely worth visiting the whole day!

Really enjoyed it. Went Easter Saturday. Was very, very busy. The zoo layout handled it, though. We drove our car, got out at each area, and had a look. Was a warm day, and some animals had retreated to the shade. But hey, you can't control these things.Canteen struggled with the high volume of people, especially as a lot of people waited till they got to the cashier before deciding what they wanted. It was very frustrating, especially for the staff. I was in awe of their patience 👏👏👏
A great place for child and adult alike.

It was an amazing experience driving our own car inside the zoo! The animals living there have plenty of room to roam around and they seem to be quite happy :) There was a long queue at the entrance though (better to purchase tickets online before arrival).
Picturesque, free-admission garden with 4 areas, including a traditional Japanese landscape garden.
We visited the Shoyoen Japanese Garden, which forms part of the Botanical gardens. It was beautiful. The gardens are well maintained, and there are some interesting trees and plants. The small lake is idyllic with its little waterfall, birdlife and Koi fish. There is a replica Japanese house which can be viewed from the outside. There is no charge to explore the garden which provides a restful retreat, particularly for tourists such as my wife and I. I recommend finding the time to spend an hour at these beautiful gardens.

We enjoyed our visit here, really interesting to learn about the history of this jail. The shows at 10am and 11am were entertaining and informative, went for about 30min each which maybe was a little too long. We ended up being here for around 1.5 hours but would have been less if shows were not on as took us around 45min or so to wander through the buildings. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Dubbo for a couple of days or more.

a small gaol with some different buildings. It was quite interesting to visit, but we found it is too touristy (got a bit crowded at few areas). It is good to check during a visit at Dubbo. We did not visit it last time we went there so we decided to check it this time as we purchased Dubbo Experiences (discounted tickets bundled with Zoo and Royal Flying Doctor). The street parking is only 1 hour so we did not spend too much time there.

Blew my mind. If you are Into architecture or Australian history this is a must visit.
Created with a friendly smile and great customer service interaction from Jordan? (well, the cash register said it was Jordan serving us).
Children are given a workbook and must think of clues and information within the kail and fill it out as they go. It's got some easy questions and some you need to think about. All the clues are within the facility tho.
Having served as a real Goal in its life it's rather moving and haunting to step into some of the cells. Be warned tho, though you don't know who you might run into.
Just when you are on your self-guided journey something interesting happens. I don't want to give away all the details but make sure you participate and watch what occurs. You might be lucky enough to be picked on by the Goal's very own prison officer, enough about that tho.
The Goal also has a very small gift shop filled with some great gifts so you can take home a memory from this amazing visit you will have.
Prices are affordable and reasonable. I would recommend you make this an attraction you don't miss out on. It's a true part of Australian history and the workers do take pride and this facility and their work.

Had a great visit to Old Dubbo Goal today. Attended the 3pm escapees talk with my hubby and two kids (10 & 7). The historian who presented was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and charismatic, he kept all the children and adults entertained for the best part of an hour. Highly recommended.

We loved Dubbo Gaol. The history is so interesting, We especially liked the displays, the structures and the buildings that have been preserved. Unfortunately, there was some sort of school excursion on the day. The noise totally spoilt the presentation and the atmosphere. Fortunately, we had visited the Gaol previously, so we knew what to expect. We suggest that you check with the Gaol before you plan your visit. It is well worth a visit.
John Gadsdon — Google review
A very interesting introspective into the dark side of Australian history. Very confronting at times. You’d be surprised what would have constituted a crime that would put you in the gaol back then. Some heartbreaking stories, as well as some ‘amusing’ facts, quotes and anecdotes. Obviously well maintained. A reverent place that I personally wouldn’t take children under the age of 12/13 to, as some of the younger children that were there (I thought) weren’t respectful of the history of the grounds.
Overall a great experience and one I think everyone should be made aware of. History that should be respected and learned from.

Fun and interesting visit in Dubbo. The shows were good and fun and the staff was friendly. Entrance fee is a little pricey and probably not worth it if you don't watch the show. Toilets were well maintained and the gift shop had some pretty fun stuff.

Had a great time exploring the gaol. The two talks they gave were wonderful, informative and very interactive, the employees doing these were absolutely amazing. Definitely a must see when going to Dubbo.

An entertaining tour (our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and kept the big crowd entertained)
I almost felt guilty for having so much fun.
Well worth the visit when people come to Dubbo.
Our 6 year olds loved it too.

Tells the story of lives and living conditions of prisoners held in different jails across NSW. Prison is restored as a museum.
Tickets costs a 22.5$ per person and in my opinion it’s bit expensive.
Place is carefully managed and pretty clean.

We took our Granddaughter to Dubbo Gaol and she loved it as did we.
Tilly was amazing really plays her part well, we couldn't stop talking about her.
She always involved the crowd and everyone was happy to participate.
Alot of History at the Gaol and it was good for our Granddaughter to learn about our Histroy.

Excellent location. Great restoration & fantastic interpretation resources on site. Takes about an hour and a half to explore and soak in the atmosphere and study the signage.

Right in the middle of town so easy to find.
Easy to get tickets and pay.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The gaol has been restored to a point where it is easy to understand the history and hardship of the inmates and prison officers.
There is an mobile online walk through of the exhibits along with a printed copy. Each physical area of interest has a summary near its entrance. It helps you get a feeling of life as an inmate and officer only worse.
There is an air conditioned area for smaller exhibits, e.g., batons, hanging ropes, and lots more. Plus it has movies / slides to help you visualise the experiences and how the items were used.
The buildings are real and displayed with the real inmates and wardens identities and stories.

Was fascinating. Very informative, great staff very friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome.
Great show they put on. We went during the school holidays. My boys are still talking about it and bragging about being chosen as a volunteer in the show. Great actors, too, wonderful work, ladies.
Wonderful place, highly recommend a visit. The history is a little dark and sad, but it's great to know how far jails have come since then.
Definitely put this as a stop on your itinerary, allow an hour or 2, and definitely bring a camera. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you get there as it opens, and there should be a short wait time.

A must do --- Allow min 1hr. Costume show is not to be missed (they lock the front gates though you can still get out). A very passionate team and very interesting walk back in history. Highly recommend.
Allan Jones — Google review
Nice but could be more interactive. Takes 30-40 min to see everything. A lot of pictures with text that you have to read about each prisoner and their stories, we got bored of reading.
Santa St — Google review
Entering the Dubbo Gaol to the very theatrical performance by Billy is a very neccesary and light hearted way to take the edge off what you are about to see. To say the Gaol captures a dark side of Australian History is an understatement. You feel it in the walls of the cells, in the photos and stories of the former prisoners, the eyes of the executed and certainly from the artifacts used in daily life there including for the executions. A sombre and at times frightful journey. But a fact of life.
Make sure to watch the interactive performance by the actors beforehand as it really does balance the whole experience.
Well done to all staff. Highly recommended.
Great place to visit and get your needs and great friendly staff. Well worth the visit

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Experience in Dubbo offers an immersive and interactive journey into the world of the heroic doctors, nurses, pilots, and Outback communities. This technologically advanced center opened in 2019 and provides a comprehensive look at the history and expansion of the RFDS. Visitors can learn about its various bases, expansion into dental surgery vans, mental health services, and see real-time data of where planes are traveling to.
Great displays and information. Had lunch at the cafe, burger and chips more than enough. Bought some things at the shop all profits go back into supporting the RFDS. Staff very friendly and know their stuff.
Ray — Google review
This is an AMAZING experience for young and old. The information boards and the interactive displays are extremely well done and the staff are ALL absolutely wonderful. There is so much RFDS history and so much for the little ones to see and experience at every corner! We visited for about an hour but could have easily doubled that. The cafe closed at 3 so we missed out on a coffee unfortunately ☕️
The souvenirs shop is well stocked with well priced options for every budget!
Thank you for a great afternoon
Amanda Gibson — Google review
A great facility though the echo from people talking in the huge shed makes it difficult to read and concentrate on what you're looking at. The interactive attractions are fabulous. It was nice to learn about how the RFDS all started and to read and watch how the RFDS has helped people who are isolated and in need of help. I would have loved to learn more about the people that work there, how they deal with the unknown, how many people go to incidents and how they decide how many to send, qualifications of staff, how you can get involved, what roles there are and what paths you take to get employment with the RFDS. It was also frustrating that the interactive screens in front of the main screen go off during the "movie". I was half way through one when it went off. They were the last things we had left to do but not enough time to stay through the movie to do it...I love in alice springs they have a cockpit you can climb through. I assumed it might be the same at dubbo but it's not.
The people working here though were very nice.

Hands down a absolute highlight of our visit to Dubbo. So unbelievably informative, interactive experience not only for children, but definitely for adults. The short video of actual people helped by RFDS was great. Seeing real time data of where planes were travelling to was really interesting. Helpful people available for any questions you may have. Nice cafe available to have a sneeky drink and snack.
Highly recommend. Don't forget to make a small donation to keep this amazing service in the air.

We had a lazy late afternoon visit, and would recommend that you leave a little more time, especially if you haven't got little kids - there was plenty of things for them to interact with and enjoy the experience, but oh so much detail that older children and adults can absorb. The guided experience was so welcome, with experts able to point out things we didn't notice by ourselves. The gift shop is filled with all the things you want to buy, top quality and very enticing, but not an obnoxious maze you need to navigate in order to leave either. I could have sat and enjoyed the live update map for quite some time. A lovely cool oasis and extremely informative on life and innovation in our non urban areas.

It is easy for city residents to go to a hospital. But for regional residents the nearest hospital might be hundreds of miles away. Any emergency or life and death situations, every minute is crucial. Flying doctor service is an important part of regional living and an essential service for maintaining wellbeing of regional residents. The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Experience was fun and interactive. I support the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Highly recommended

Strong recommendation if you're in Dubbo for a weekend.
It's a fantastic way to spend a few hours. Includes heaps of different content - interactive displays, videos, information boards, functional replicas, memorabilia... You name it. And it showcases an underappreciated service that has positively impacted so many Australians. Get around it.

This an absolutely fabulous place to visit! The cafe was lovely, with great food and drinks at reasonable prices. They have a number of gluten and dairy free options, and lactose free milk available.
The information centre is well worth the entry fee, with fantastic displays, interesting information and a great video presentation. I was especially pleased to see that all the video resources were captioned! They also have wonderful volunteer guides to show you around and give you additional information about the history and current operations of the RFDS, which we loved!
They have excellent toilet facilities, including an accessible bathroom with a spot for you to put your bag down!

Located at Dubbo Airport near RFDS Dubbo Operations.
The exhibition has interactive displays, and tells the history and current goals of the RFDS. It does this through displays and augmented reality experiences. This includes aviation, showing current and past aircraft. Communications, where you can try a pedal powered radio, or see where any one of the current fleet of 70 aircraft are based or on a current mission right now at this moment.
The experience also explains the other support services, patent transfers, dental truck, operations and administration.
There is a great Cafe on site, where you can have refreshment, a meal or a snack next to one of its retired actual planes, a Fox Moth.
RFDS Visitor Experience have a well stocked gift shop, and I would say it has a great selection of shirt, jackets, and memorabilia items that you can take away and actually use.
It's just a great experience.

We had a really great time visiting the RFDS and was amazed by all the displays. We learnt so much about the important work by the RFDS and our community is extremely lucky to have such a wonderful service. The staff were absolutely lovely and gave us a personal tour, including the upper viewing deck of the airfield. Thank you to our doctors, nurses and volunteers who truly go above and beyond to give such exceptional health care and service.

We had a very humbling experience from our visit of the RFDS at Dubbo. The effort that goes in providing top class health care services to our remote outback is just amazing. The displays at the centre were very informative and easily understandable. The staff was corteous and very respectful as well as patient with our questions. Hats off to all the doctors, nurses and staff involved with the RFDS.

RFDS provides a life saving and in some circumstances, a mobile medical treatment (akin to a GP visit) services. Highly underfunded, though one of the most important medical services in our country. A little disappointed Alice Springs was not so referenced because ASP played an integral part of RFDS infancy days. *** PLEASE buy something from their gift shop, as ALL proceeds go to the RFDS.... Enjoy your visit :-)
Not being a sports fan I didn't really appreciate the statue. But the location has public facilities and green grass. The town is lovely - love wide streets and trees. And there is well tended colourful plants in the main street which makes being a tourist enjoyable. Just surprised there isn't more park benches in the main street. Saw a mum and three kids crouched on the sidewalk in the main street enjoying their pies, would have been nice if they could have relaxed in the shade at a table AND the shops are interesting enough to linger. Fabulous looking florist at the other end of town.

Felt good standing next to the statue of one of the greatest pace bowlers in history. I only wish they made it life sized, it looked a bit small, like 5 feet 6 inches, when you know that he was almost a foot taller than that.

A real treasure and well worth a visit. Recommended by my son, otherwise may have missed it. Well curated with lots of fascinating information, was not aware Narromine had such a rich aviation history. A replica of the Wright Brothers’ model A plane, and it has been flown in Narromine, The flight commemorated by Buzz Aldrin. The volunteer on duty was superb, very informative without taking over. A top attraction, just a short trip from Dubbo. Five stars.

One of the three 'classic' Outback NSW pubs on/near the Grawin opal fields.
These are local watering holes that are now tourist attractions. 🍻 Of the three, this was the place with the most relaxed vibe and least trying to rip you off on drinks! Score.
And there's a reason for the good prices that dates back to why this pub was founded. Apparently after a flood in the '70s, the Glengarry raised it's prices as an emergency measure, but never lowered them again. Angry locals started a 'club', where grog was bought with tickets to dodge the legalities of selling alcohol. Years later, it's legit, but still a club, you'll be asked to sign up for a temporary membership upon entering, but there isn't a fee.
⛏️ Sports a fossiking spot where you'll find some potch and maybe an opal with color if you're lucky. Tip: dig around in a sunny spot, the potch (colorless grey opal) will shine in the sun like glass.

If your driving out to Lightening Ridge do yourself a favour and drive to extra 70 or so Km out to the Grawin Opal fields and visit the 3 Pubs in the Scrub. Great day trip out from LR. Well done to the 3 licensees of The Club, Glengarry Hilton and Sheppard's Inn for providing this unique experience of outback hospitality. All the more wonderful given Grawin is off the grid but you still manage to offer cold beer and tasty grub. Don't miss these three pubs.
