Amazing. Brilliant day. Did the Fast Dash & it's brilliant.
Next was the go carts & that was also brilliant.
One could spend all day & a lot of coin & definitely not be disappointed!
Another slice of petrol head heaven! If you haven't been then go!
I'll be back ASAP! Thanks

The experience was fantastic! Did the U-Drive Mustang and had an ball of a time. Instructor was fantastic and clear with the guidance and encouragement to push myself in the car! Then headed to the Karts and they are fun and fast. Kart track is a good size and good level of difficulty. Ended up having lunch and had a Lamb sandwich which was really nice with a Berry smoothie. Then went though the Museum which was really well laid out with heaps of info about cars on display. Has upstairs area with a lot of history and info about drivers in Nee Zealand. I would recommend you make it a must stop if you enjoy Cars! Also worth saying to head to the loo with a view as well.

we had a wet day to fill in. sadly they dont go cart in the wet. we did the museum. it had fun interactive things for the kids to do. I'm not a motor sport fan but found it very interesting, well laid out and exhibits well documented. in the end we did taxi ride that had me squealing from the back seat. lots of fun thanks Steve. recommend using the loo's with a view, I won't spoil the surprise by posting photos. family pass $60 and a discount off the taxi ride cost. very friendly front of house staff. an enjoyable family activity.

If you are a car fans, you’ll love this place, here are make me so exciting when we just arrived, you can drive like V8 mustang or small F1, I mean the Radical, or if you’re just wanna have a fun, you can by track taxi or some experience for one lap and they drive, have fun in here, and enjoy the cafe and exhaust 😝

We got a family pass ($199) for the Go Karts, Fast Taxi & museum inc VR experience. We had to buy two more Carts for 4 of us to do, which came to $269 all up. A super hot day but we still spent a good 4 hours there including a great lunch at their cafe. The toilets are worth the visit alone and if your lucky the carpark may have a few gems parked up as well.

Wow, the presentation of this facility is tops. Museum.
I was passenger in a BMW car race (priviledged).
Outside garden ornaments range from aliens giraffes rhino old cars....
Go-karts were so much fun.

Great activity for the individual or family. Museum and coffee shop with something for everyone. If you do an activity you will get into the Museum for half price $15.00. The loo with a view is EPIC!

Booked in for the radical U-drive. Was everything a person who loves Formula 1 could ask for. 7 Laps is not enough! First 2 laps are for memorising the braking and corners and the rest the instructor will push you hard. Paul is the instructor for the day and was the reason I enjoyed the drive so much.

Seriously excellent. An awesome museum and I managed 3 drives. The Ferrari was good (could have been faster in my opinion). The U drive mustang was excellent and the coaching given by the staff is excellent. You must also drive the Radical U drive which was simply awesome.

Amazing go karting experience in South Island. The track was well-maintained and long enough for a good ride. The karts were petrol powdered and have very good pickup unlike some of the electric ones. Make sure you ask for the weekday price of $39 if not they'd bill you the usual price of $49 😅

Had a great day here today.
🙂
A stunning all round experience set up in a way that you don't necessarily have to be a racing enthusiast to enjoy it.
❤️
MASSIVELY RECOMMENDED.

Absolutely loved visiting Highlands. We did the track laps breakfast and had so much fun. Although the laps weren't very fast, it was awesome to drive the track and have a good look around. The staff were lovely and we loved sitting outside to have breakfast, the views from the Cafe are awesome.

Four of us spent the day here doing most of the activities on offer. Awesome staff, from the front desk to the people running the activities they were all friendly and super helpful! Thanks everyone for giving us a great day out. We will definitely be back, next time hopefully we will book two sessions in on the radicals!

Dec 2022 - We drove to Cheeki Cherries, thinking we could pick cherries. The staff very kindly informed us that their cherries were not ripe for picking yet and directed us to one of their competitors and a fruit stall where we could buy fruits. We also requested and were allowed to take a quick walk around the cherry trees and take pictures. The lady who attended to us was extremely friendly and we spotted her at the Cheeki cherries stall a few days later at the Remarkables weekend market.

pretty ken oath place, funny & kind staff! adorable little helper (shoutout to billy). not sure why there are 1 star reviews, it seems completely reasonable to guarantee that all pickers pick at least 1kg... defs cheaper than supermarkets...
so many different cherry varieties, some will be crunchier than others but all the cherries are good quality and you can tell by the taste.
sophia lee — Google review
Great PYO Cherries activity for weekends. You can eat cherries during the picking and pay for the take away. I paid $17/kg which is better price than before Xmas. Big size cherries with medium sweetness.
Uyen Thu Vo — Google review
Hugh place for cherry and other fruits such as apricot, peach. Staffs are very kind. Real ice cream is so good and yummy. Highly recommended for cherry picking. Must try the ice cream.
Eric Kim — Google review
Do try ELSEWHERE! NOT recommended. We went cause they were the only one with ripe cheeries. $17/kg minimum 1kg per adult. What a rip! Others I called were cheaper. They didn't even allow our back packs in making some lame excuse of it might break the branches, what a load of BULL S#%^! Just say u had theft problem before.. At the end we got a large ice cream $6, and man was it a large for a baby! Pathetically small.
Worst of all, the cheeries were all very soft and not very sweet or big, had picked way better ones b4. Started going rotten in 3 days even after cooling it straight away. DON'T COME HERE, go else where later in season.
T Me — Google review
great activity. full of cherries when we got there end of December. per person must get 1kg cherries. which is only $17 and the cherries are so sweet and big! we can also enjoy the cherries as many as you want for free! while picking the cherries. 4 of us bring home 7kg of cherries. not sure how that happened, but absolutely enjoy it. they provide ladder around so you can settle on a tree that produce a sweet and big cherries. they also have white cherries which is a bit more expensive and some other fruits such as plum, apricot, and nectarines. after picking, would recommend you to enjoy their real fruit icecream. they have option for yogurt icecream. very enjoyable activity. would highly recommend.
Olivia Victorius — Google review
this is my second time at cheeki cherries and it was just as fun as the first! the different types of cherries they had were all so delicious and sweet!! it is also a very beautiful and iconic photo spot :)) the whole experience was also absolutely a blast, especially when I would find trees full of cherries to pick from :) the real fruit ice cream they have is also very sweet and yum, honestly was quite saddening after finding out that I had already unknowingly eaten the whole ice cream-
the staff/service is also so so wonderful and friendly~ ultimately made the whole atmosphere so warm and perfect. 🍒🤍
hello — Google review
I’ve been a regular customer here for years but yesterday was not a good experience. I arrived in a group of 3 with 2 adults and one young teen. They told us that we needed to grab three buckets each and pick a minimum of 1kg each. I explained that this was going to be way too many cherries for us and asked if we could please share two buckets between us instead. She refused and said that it’s just the rules. I also explained how I’ve never had an issue with this before as me and my partner regularly come here and we mostly share a bucket between us as they’ve always been nice about this. The worker didn’t care and sent us on our way because we weren’t going to take 3 buckets. We went down the road instead and found a place that has the exact same rules as them. But when we explained our situation to them they happily let us share one bucket between three which was even better anyway. We have now found our new favourite place.
(I went to Cherry Tree Farm down the road instead!)
Update: looking at how this company responds to customers with issues, I expected a rude response and that’s exactly what I got. What an unreasonable response considering that’s not what happened nor what I was told. I clarified that we were only there for red cherries and yet I was still expected to grab 3 buckets and pick 1kg each. Real fruit icecream is provided at many other pyo orchards even in Cromwell too. If it was charity day like you say, why were we sent away instead of giving us two buckets? You could’ve made more money towards your charity that way. You wouldn’t have as many bad reviews if you learned how to treat everyone with respect and try to work through issues rather than getting defensive. Just my advice.
Celeste Stella — Google review
Great activity to do, cherries were in abundance, both red and white. It's good to get there early to avoid crowds and use of ladders. Real fruit icecream is a must

It's a pity that there's no PRO today. Owner is nice enough to let us in to have a look in the orchard and take some pictures. Bought some cheeris too.

I SUPER LOVE IT!!! They have a wide range of cherry trees where you can pick as much cherries as you want. Also, one of the staff show to us his secret spot, where we get our BIG and DELICIOUS cherry!!! Awesome experience and friendly staff. We will come back again next time!

PYO Cherries near Cromwell. This place seems to be the most popular and I can see why. Excellent friendly service, juicy sweet cherries to pick from, both red and white varieties. They also have ice cream and a kids playground. If you pick too much, you can also send it back home by courier

I’m traveling from United state. I came to Queenstown NZ. One of my best interest is to taste the New Zealand cherry. I found Cheeki cherry from the internet, however when I got there it is closed. I got off my rental car and walked around the outside of the shop . From the distance there is a farm trailer approaching with a dog running in front of the trailer. I waved to him and he stopped for me and kindly told me the season is over , come back next year. He was very friendly and asked me where I am coming from. I told him United state. Then he said follow me . He took me to his farm and told me there is some left over and still very good, eat and take as many you want. I’m not only got to taste cherries and make a friend . His name is Martin. Thank you Martin. I hope I spilled your name correct. I hope I can visit New Zealand again. I will definitely come visit Cheeki Cherries
Controversial tourist attraction since 1999 of a wire fence lined with bras of all shapes & sizes.
It's worth a stop and look around the Bradrona fence to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Foundation
William Lin — Google review
Yes, it is a controversial tourist attraction in Otago, New Zealand. For some, it is an eyesore and embarrassment, but for others it is just another NZ local wisdom of 'love lock bridge'. It is located on a public road reserve just at the entrance of Cardrona distillery. It you are not travelling this area, it is good to know that the location is out of main highways so you need to have a special intention to go there unless you are skiing at Cardrona.
Masrizal Mahmud — Google review
A very odd spot.
Mid our way through southern you zealand on the main road, you come across this sight.
About 300 bras just hanging in the middle of nowhere. Felt like it was worth a photo and spent like 15 minutes trying to capture most of it.
Yoad Brand — Google review
So glad I stopped in here and got great photos, was truly amazing to see how many bras were here. A must do when visiting Cardrona. Will visit again when next there.

I did not want to miss this quirky spot while visiting the area!
Found this place while driving on our way to Queenstown and sits in the middle of beautiful valley, the fence packed with a ton of bras!
We found bras with some writings and funny notes from women with stories from around the world.
There is donation box for NZ Breast Cancer foundation where you can contribute too to the fund.
Would happily stop here again as the area is incredibly peaceful.

This is an amazing little stop when driving through Cardrona. The reason for it is explained and you realise what a great idea it was to raise awareness of Breast Cancer.
Adrian Currie — Google review
Cool stopby on the way to Queenstown via Ceown Range Summit 😱
Clament Wong — Google review
Well story behind this fence is that 1999 new year few women started hanging their bras and since then many people opposed and many came together in support. At some point nearly 2006 they were about to discard the whole thing but then the local community wanted to raise funds for breast cancer as well as they wanted to make the world record of longest bra fence in the world but could not succedded but started raising the donation and till now they have raised nearly $30000 which is great.
Some people might feel disgusting but what i belive is we should be open to acceptance in the society if it is for good reason.
Nids — Google review
It's nice to raise the awareness. Just a spot to stop for a minute, take photos, and continue to Cardrona hotel or to Wanaka.
Brahmastyo Puji — Google review
What a cackle and also for a good cause. Donate your bra. Sooo many, and worth the stop
R Harrison — Google review
As a breast cancer survivor, I feel like this is the spot that I should not miss while visiting the area.
Beautifully placed in the middle of beautiful valley, the fence packed with hundreds (or perhaps even thousands) of bras serves as a great reminder about the importance of taking care of ourselves and at the same time spread the awareness about breast cancer.
Many left their bras with some writings and notes on it, telling a little story and where they are from.
There is a box for donation for New Zealand Breast Cancer foundation so you are welcomed to contribute to the fight of breast cancer as well.
Happy to stop by here agaib

What a ride! My partner and i are both experienced trek riders and couldn't have had more fun than with Kelly and her horses on the pub ride! She took such a good care of us, and is full of funny anecdotes of the local area where she has lived for so long. Cannot recommend enough!
Maxence Benoist (Eklipsnoire) — Google review
A fabulous ride combining walking, running and cantering with fantastic scenery. Kelly shared local historical stories bringing alive the area that we travelled through. Horses are in excellent condition and Kelly ensures each rider was always comfortable and able. A great day. Highly recommended.

Ana was an amazing guide for our quad bike tour. She expertly led us through working farms, skillfully handling gates as we ventured across the landscape.
During the two-hour ride, we enjoyed powerful 350hp quad bikes that were thrilling to ride. Although some mud splashed onto us, it dried quickly and was easily brushed off. It might be helpful to wear ski pants in the winter, even though Ana wore shorts. Merino or ski gloves are recommended as well, but the quad bike facility can provide some if needed.
Conveniently, there are restrooms at the base of the tour. We had a fantastic time exploring Cardrona on quad bikes and were treated to breathtaking views from high vantage points, including the stunning snow-crowned peaks.
Sam Sung — Google review
Amazing horse riding experience! The horses were well-trained and beautifully cared for, adding to the overall enjoyment of the ride. The trails we explored were breathtaking, offering stunning views of the mountains that I'll never forget. Enjoying the one-on-one lesson for beginners and history about gold rush on this land. Whether you're a seasoned equestrian or trying horse riding for the first time, this is the perfect place to make unforgettable memories.
Yuanning Xiang — Google review
We had a wonderful time riding horses today and everything was great. Kelly was an amazing instructor and she made instructions extremely clear and understandable especially as we had a couple of beginners. The horses were very friendly and it made it a ton easier to ride. The ride itself was beautiful. The scenery and path was great and the instructions given made the slightly difficult parts much more relaxing. Trotting on our horses was literally one of the exhilarating parts of the ride and everything was made easier which was wonderful. I have a brother around 5 and he had the best time ever despite not having ridden a horse before. This was because Kelly was great at leading him on his horse. One of the best parts was that Kelly had actually given us a history talk on our trek as well. It was very clear and informative and I learnt a lot of things that I did not know before. The free photos we got from the horse trek of our family were so gorgeous. We enjoyed feeding the horses after as well. The whole experience was so fun and we loved it so much. 100% recommend as it is a very family friendly activity or just a fun activity to do with friends and others. Will be going again in the winter.

The guides, one of them Blandine, were very friendly and ensured safety of all the quad bike riders. Tour was paced really well and the distance driven (we went up and up!) was suitable even for beginners. The steep terrain of the valley was daunting at first but you get used to it and at the peak, your eyes will be treated a to a beautiful view of the valley and adjacent mountains. What a sight to behold!

If you are in the Queenstown area, you need to book this Quad Bike ride. It’s about 45 minutes outside the city and absolutely gorgeous. Our instructor, Hannah, took us all the way up a mountain stopping to share history of the land and to take some memorable pictures. We had an absolute blast, this is a must when we visit again.

Stunning scenery which would be worth seeing in all different seasons. Wonderful horses, a variety suited to riders abilities (not all just moving couches!) The guide Kel was fantastic, hugely knowledgeable about the area and the history with a funny side to keep it fresh & interesting.
Highly recommended from an avid horse trekker.

We booked the Twilight Ride really spontaneously (like 2 hours in advance) and still Kelly made it possible for us. Although we had only little experience in horse back riding we felt safe all the way with Kelly being a great instructor, always making sure that we feel comfortable. She is energetic and her enthusiasm is contagious. The horses were easy to ride, well trained and looked healthy and happy, as if they were enjoying the ride as much as we did. During the slower parts of the ride she shared interesting facts about Cardrona and the place's history. The ride was awesome, the scenery was stunning and she also took photos during the ride at the most beautiful places. We crossed the river twice and were allowed to do some gallopping/cantering which was really fun! We were also impressed by the self-cooked food that the horses received at the end of the trip. Great location, great horses and a great guide, thanks for the wonderful experience!

A huge shout out to Emily and Ellie for taking us on our tour on Sunday. It was amazing to be taken up into the mountain and see the valley from the other side. Emily was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive and made us feel comfortable on our trip. We couldn’t recommend this experience enough!
Claire Pryke — Google review
This tour was fine, but nothing amazing. The route you take has essentially the same view throughout the whole trip. It's a view of the hills. There isn't much variety in terriane, or any bonus section to hike or see a hidden landscape or anything. I think I'm comparing it to an ATV tour I took on a different vacation, and the other one was more a little more impressive. I will say that the tour guide we had was great! And just driving Quad bikes can be fun.The experience was pleasant. And their base area was cosy and nice. They also take pictures, which you can buy. And I think the guides pictures came out better than our own, so I appreciate that! Overall it was fun. Just not anything mind blowing.

We had such an incredible experience doing the twilight horse riding with Kelly. You get an amazing experience riding through farmland and through the hills with an incredible view of crown range and surrounding scenery.
We also got to do a lot of galloping which was really fun (my husband was a beginner and he thoroughly enjoyed it)!
Have been to a couple of horse riding experience and this one wins hands down.

There were no quad tours available, so I spontaneously went on a horse trek. It was a really great and relaxing experience in the countryside. Although I had no experience with horses at all, I never felt stressed or overwhelmed. The guide took a lot of time to coach us and explain everything we needed to know. I can fully recommend it if you would like to try out horse riding in a beautiful setting.

The High Country Pub Trail with Kel was absolutely amazing. I really had so much fun. We cantered a lot, which I appreciated a lot as an experienced rider, plus there is this beautiful scenery with lupin flowers, sheep, cows and deers which is just breathtaking. Kel is a great guide and I really liked her great energy. During the trek, she told me a lot about the history of the place, which I found very interesting. Dembe was such a lovely horse. I have to say that it was the best riding trek I've ever had so far. Thank you so much for this great experience, dear Kel!

Wooing Tree was such a great find! The lunch platters were so generous and so delicious- full of home made items. And the wines were tasty and not expensive. We loved the unique white Pinot Noir. The woman who served us was down to earth and friendly. Beautiful surroundings. Google maps didn’t know the entry is opposite Roberts lane.

We loved our experience at Wooing Tree! We did a wine tasting first - the gentleman serving us was very friendly and knowledgeable. Then we enjoyed a glass of our favorite wine and a huge platter of meats, cheese, bread and other goodies. It was beyond delicious!! The patio is also very nice with a great view. Excellent service and a warm smile as we walked in for a Wine Tasting. The tasting was just $5 and we bought a couple of bottles which wiped off the tasting charges. And you MUST try their newest wine, Blondie & Co.

Wooing tree is such a cute winery in the Central Otago region. We visited during a wine tour (Roaring Tours). This was our lunch stop, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. After sampling a few delicious Pinot and Rose wines, we were served the delicious platter lunch, pictured. This featured two delicious cheeses, which were among our favorites in New Zealand! and several high-quality meats. The picturesque location itself is worth a stop. I highly recommend it!

♿️✅ wide open doors in summer, easy flat surface all around the tasting room. Easy to take a seat at the tables, the counter wasn't too high either.
Wine tasting for $5 the people presenting the tastings had a decent knowledge of the vineyards and the flavour profiles of their wines.
Most wineries raved about the platter here but I never got to try it, the smoked salmon sounded amazing, they smoke it with their own old barrels!

Barb was a great host. Very knowledgeable and a lovely soul. Tasty selection of wines to suit different pallets. My favourite was the Pinot Gris.

Popped into wooing tree during our Cromwell stay and were left a bit disappointed. $15 per tasting (8 wines).
Our host was knowledgeable but not overly friendly. We were the only ones in the winery, a shame about all the construction too.
Not a bad experience but wouldn't go back.
Bike It Now! in Clyde offers excellent service for those interested in the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. They can assist with arranging shuttle times and pickups for the reverse ride from Clyde to Cromwell, taking advantage of the wind and less aggressive egress. The trail offers beautiful views and cantilevered sections hugging the mountain. Riders can expect a time of around 3 hours and 20 minutes.
AMAZING service and professionalism at Bike It Now! We loved our trip on the Otago Rail Trail, and Bike it Now made everything so seamless and easy for us. The accommodation, local knowledge and of course the bikes were top quality. The door to door service from Queenstown was fantastic and meant transport was one less thing for us to worry about. They even worked around us when our flight was cancelled, and picked us up later in the day. I don't have anything bad to say. We will be booking through Bike it Now again for any future trips. Thanks so much!

We recently did the Big Loop with Bike It Now. Fully recommend this company. Easy communications prior to the ride. Accommodation was spot on for the needs of our group - six of us all over 60. Really enjoyed dining at country pubs and having a couple with the locals.
In addition, one of our group sustained an injury on the fourth day necessitating an evacuation. Bike It Now helped out with some of the logistics of this, meaning the injured rider was able to rejoin the group at each accommodation stop.
Many thanks Fletch and crew.

Bike it Now is amazing. They organise everything for you and all you need to do is ride and enjoy the scenery and great hospitality along the way. It’s the second time I’ve been with them and couldn’t fault them. They know the area and tailor the trip to what you want to do. Just perfect!!!

Re: The Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. Interested in doing the reverse ride, Clyde > Cromwell, Bike It Now will assist. Apart from working with your schedule an advantage is the wind is behind you and the egress to the Trig Station is not as aggressive from the Clyde, you also " hug " the mountain on those cantilevered sections . Time for an L3 rider is < > 3H20m. Book with Bike It Now to arrange shuttle times & pickup back to Clyde. Recommended time would be early morning ( Still and no opposing traffic ) . Service & communication from Bike It Now Clyde is outstanding..thoroughly recommended.

Super, super organised! Thank-you Bikeitnow! for an amazing 4 day adventure. Shuttle service from Queenstown, terrific accommodations, recommended places to eat and where to purchase snacks. When the weather turned nasty on Day 4, they checked-in with us to see if we needed assistance. (We were fine). We are happy to recommend Bikeitnow!

The Heritage Precinct museum in New Zealand showcases restored buildings from the Gold Rush era of the 1860s, which now house shops and cafes. It offers a chance to reflect on early European history while exploring horse stables and enjoying picnics near Lake Dunstan's seating areas. There are vintage equipment displays, bakeries, and life-sized mannequins that add to the experience. The spot is also ideal for food and drinks with a stunning view of the lake.
Free entry. Very cute restored old town. Lots of history kept for all time. And the view of the lake is so amazingly stunning. It’s hard to believe once upon a time the level was much lower and the town filled the water up!

This is a great spot to reflect on the early European history in New Zealand. Walk through history, explore the horse stables and enjoy a picnic near the lake where there's plenty of seating areas. I'd return here in winter, as would have a different feel. Lots of Vintage equipment and bakeries for display, even life sized mannequins

Nice place for a look through with old shops and period history displays.
I visited during new years holiday time and most of the shops were shut till the 4th Jan.
Close to the river with stunning views of the cliffs on the opposing side.
Well kept walkway and plenty to look at.
Bicycle hireage and small jet for kayaks or boats.
Close by is some heritage homes and old churches in the close by streets.
Well worth the stop and will revisit again.

This was a great place to see and was very well done.
There are a lot of historic buildings and old objects.
There are a few shops and galleries.
It's definitely worth visiting if you're in Cromwell!

Nice area where old heritage buildings have been amassed together, renovated and repurposed, i.e. cafes, art galleries, shops.
It is in a lovely setting alongside the water and was a peaceful place to enjoy on the day we visited.
In addition to looking at the buildings there are also walking and biking tracks that can be accessed from here.

The Heritage Precinct of Cromwell town is an interesting place. It showcase the old buildings of the gold mining era. These old buildings were converted into souvenir shops and cafes. Located by the scenic lake side which is another attraction. Worth visiting.

Beautiful old buildings, although not all original. Some refurbished / recreated from elsewhere in the district. Some interesting history inside a few of them. Not a huge area so doesn't take long to go round. Love the stonework more than anything.

What a lovely setting and most interesting! The buildings have been moved from their original places and restored and repurposed into mini museums, cafe, art galleries and gift shops. Well worth a visit.

During our journey back to Christchurch from Wanaka, we made a brief stop in Cromwell. With few locals around, the atmosphere was tranquil and serene. The partially demolished dance halls and schools, blended seamlessly with other heritage buildings. Although the shops were closed, I anticipate a vibrant atmosphere when they're open. My colleague also recommended the excellent bike trails in Cromwell, perhaps something to explore on our next visit!

If I could give this business zero stars I would.
I spent $530 on a two person tour back in August 2022. Underdog cancelled due to weather and which was of our control. I was informed I will be able to obtain a refund. 6 months later, I’ve emailed & called multiple times. No answer and have been ignored.. If I could go back in time I would never have booked with this company. If you do, you will run the risk of loosing $530. I cannot believe a company like this is happy to take your money, not deliver a service and continue to book tours with other people. BEWARE and RE CONSIDER!!!!!

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!!! So disappointed. This is the 3rd time we have been to Queenstown and we have nothing but good things to say about all the many experiences we have had.
Our sled dog tour was cancelled and like so many we have not received our refund either. This has been promised in emails but now we get no response. Terrible service, we had another experience cancelled and they refunded us immediately. I fail to understand when payment is made in advance why refunds take 5 to 10 days and then not at all.

Our winter tour was cancelled by UnderDog Sled Dog tour. They agreed to refund me the money. According to their website cancellation policy, it takes 5-10 working days. However, after many text messages and phone calls, still no refund after a month. They even don’t feel any apology for their action. This shows how careless they are to their customers.

Update - We're now 2 months and counting waiting for our refund. There have been many excuses and many assurances of payment, but now texts are being ignored completely. DON'T book with these guys, they'll take your money and run.

Beautiful place. My little one really had great fun. They’ve got so many old things that will remind you of your childhood 😊

This is a comprehensive collection of almost every type of transport you can think of. Some displays have good explanation and/or background stories but most have very little other than the model etc. Cafe was nonexistent but the store itself was full of models to suit everyone.
There's a brewery next door with a great selection of beer but they only serve pizza if you're looking for lunch as well.

I came across the museum as I was leaving Wanaka and I had a bit of time to spare so I thought I'd quickly pop in to look around. I landed up staying for more than 2 hours, and I didn't even get to see everything! This place is absolutely wonderful and I'd recommend it to anyone who is in the Wanaka area. The museum has an incredible amount of pieces on display, and there is definitely something for everyone here. Looking through the toys was a wonderful trip down memory lane. The displays have been put together very well, and it's incredible to see the some of the old toys in such a good state. The vast array of vehicles within the different sections of the museum is mind-blowing. From planes, cars and motor bikes to bicycles, boats and fire trucks you can easily spend a whole day exploring this amazing place.

We spent more than 2 hours here checking out the exhibits in the 4 hangars, plus the ones outside too. It seems like there isn't enough space to display all of the things. Neat toy selection too. Some exhibits you are able to go or look inside. Good for the young and old too with toys for sale too

What a lovely place!
It is really the best collection of vehicles and planes I have seen in New Zealand. There are an in fathomable amount of vehicles. Enough that my father could find each one of his old family cars!
I would recommend closer to 4 hours as it will give you an hour per building. There are also a few things to be seen out the back as well as in the yard.
Before in the store as it is best toy store you would of seen in a while, large collections of lego, plastic model, die cast models, dolls, Sylvanian family and more.
Highway recommend it for a days activity for all ages!

Beautiful huge place. The amount of cars, planes, motorbikes, toys and so on is amazing! You can spend hours looking at everything. The fire engine collection is amazing!!!! And it's the same with the car collection. You can find cars that are almost 100 years old!! They let you enter to 3 old aeroplanes.

Great collection with everything from toy figurines to old typewriters, bicycles to jet aircraft. Something for everyone and could spend ages looking at everything. 90% of the collection is inside several buildings but there's also a few larger pieces outside on display. Didn't check out the cafe but the shop area has a lot of toys on sale.

The Wanaka Toy and Car Museum is an amazing place. There are so many classic cars, trucks and toys. You think you have seen it all and there is yet another building full of old vehicles. There are a number of aeroplanes too. Amongst the toys were a lot of model cars, Barbies and Lego.
A word of warning: My wife was following me round but she was getting rather weary by the end of it.
Well recommended for those interested in cars.

Amazing collection of almost everything that world has produced in last 150 years. Toys, cars, bikes, chainsaws, engines, boats, airport cars, tractors, fire engines, planes, baby strollers, tanks, dolls, lego sets, hot wheels, model trains, model cars, decorative spoons, irons, fax machines, vintage computers, cans and... on and on. It's not possible to write it all. 10000% must see in South Island.

The sheer size of this. It just has so much to look at! For Lego fans and toy fans in general, the toy exhibits amazing. The cars, so many but none restored or shown very well. Even so, great to stroll thru this collection of mostly old British cars and a few American cars. The planes are great too.

To reach Lake Wanaka, take a detour from State Highway 8A and State Highway 6 (northbound) after passing through Tarras. The lake is one of New Zealand's largest and is surrounded by the mountains of Mt. Aspiring National Park. Wanaka town on the southern shore provides easy access to lake-based activities like paddleboarding, kayaking, boating, swimming in summer months and skiing during winter seasons.
Beautiful lake. It’s so wide; so just walking around it will take a while, but there won’t be any bad view. You can also see the famous Wanaka Tree, though it’s not that spectacular, in my opinion. But we saw it at low tide.

Beautiful lake with incredible views from every angle. We had mostly sunny conditions with just a few clouds, and the lighting was amazing for hours. If you want to add a walk to your visit, it may be best to stick to the beach instead of walking on the Waterfall trail. There were a lot of bikers enjoying the weather, so we found that the beach allowed our group to stick to a slower pace.

Lake Wanaka is different from other lakes as it's quite irregular in shape, making it utmost beautiful in every place around Wanaka. You can have totally different feels when driving along SH6, sitting on the jetty at town centre, walking on Roys Peak Track, resting on Mount Iron summit. Take a day or two in Wanaka, and you will definitely feel the beauty and magnificence of Lake Wanaka

Small little town and a big lake. The famous tree is about a 15 minute walk from the town and can be done near the road or the water. The tree is much closer to the edge of the lake than expected, and much smaller than the photos. Nice pit stop in between a long car or bus ride. The weather can change the experience, definitely plan ahead if this is something you want to include in your trip!

This was my first taste of Otago trails. Staying at Ranfurly, I chose to ride what was recommended to be the best section of the Otago Rail Trail, ie Omakau to Ranfurly. Shebikeshebikes were able to shuttle me and my ebike to Omakau from where I was able to cycle the trail back to the motor camp at Ranfurly. Shebikeshebikes provided the perfect service; a very enjoyable drive with a lovely driver and at a remarkably reasonable cost.
P.S. Two days later I used Shebikeshebikes to shuttle me and my bike from Clyde to Cromwell so I could ride the amazing Lake Dunstan Trail back to Alexandra Holiday Park. Again the shuttle service was superb.

Went to three other bike hire places today all of which said no bikes available even though we could see bikes for use.Our day was not going to plan. But this shop was great within minutes we had our bikes. Thank you for being so helpful l and making our day.!!!!

Once was enough - a fabulous experience once!!! Cycling the Dunstan Trail was more challenging than I thought it would be .. hairpin turns were wicked. Probably it was scary for me for these reasons:
1) I’d never ever ridden trails as close to ‘the edge’ as these - on the left side nearest the drop off.
2) It was my first time on an E-bike
3) The narrow trail/path with loose gravel was new to me - I am used to bike trails or country side roads in Canada.
It took me until the last third of the trail I began to feel comfortable shifting the gears on the right handle bar as well as the E-speed on the left. Thankfully I opted for an E-bike… it would have been impossible for me to ride on a regular bike! Not so for the younger stronger set!
All that said, I am thrilled to have done the Dunstan - a miracle with tremendous long lasting memories!!’ Stunning vistas with stops along the way up and down with equal challenge ability!
Thank you for making the trip possible. Shebikeshebikes is a terrific company with caring and competent friendly folks.

Hired some Ebikes to do the Otago Rail Trail over 3 days and was very disappointed especially after hearing and seeing all the great reviews. One of the Ebikes we were given had a bad life cycle dying with about 1.5kms left riding on the eco and norm settings (two lowest). The second and third day was set on eco for the entirety of the day trying to conserve battery and it still died with 7km left. Safe to say this ruined our whole trip as we hired Ebikes for the comfort and efficiency - and ended up adding an unforeseen labour intensive and stressful element during the day taking away from the stunning sights the trail has to offer. After complaining to the Omakau reception staff and relevant mobile contacts, still nothing has been done in terms of compensation or rectifying the situation! We’re sad to say we were highly disappointed with the service all around and would not recommend the company just on the off chance of this situation happening again.

Absolutely beautiful. Best time of the day is early afternoon, sun at its best for pictures. Don't always rely on the advertised lookout spots. There are some great spots if you are prepared to drive a little off the road
Kevin Niemand — Google review
The blue turquoise colour of the lake is due to fine silt particles, or glacial flour, in the water. This is a result of glacial erosion.
Due to climate change, warm temperatures and low rainfall have resulted in a significant drop in the level of Lake Wānaka and it now hovers just millimetres from its lowest ever recorded level, in 1935.
“Lake Wānaka’s level … is still … above the lowest recorded level which was measured on September 25, 1935 at a level of 276.26 metres above sea level.
Lake Wānaka is New Zealand's fourth-largest lake and the the lake is 278 meters above sea level, covers 192 km2 and is more than 300 metres deep.

The museum is quite busy during the summer months, but it's well worth a visit all year round.
Fantastic place to visit, great piece of NZ history. Be prepared- you should remove shoes when in the house, we'll worth it though. And excellent coffee.

This place is a must if you a are riding the Otago Rail trail. The homestead is lovely and the old engineering works really intestinal. And they have a cafe.

Really lovely cafe with friendly owners and staff. We had lunch and coffee, which was lovely and homemade. I got beef nachos, carrot cake and an oat latte (they have oat and soy milk!)
The site itself was also interesting. Self-guided tour of old engineering works and the old home of Earnest and Hannah Hayes who settled on the site in the late 1800s.
Worth a visit! Great stop on the Otago Rail Trail

A rare glimpse into NZ's manufacturing history. Of special interest is the overhead system of shafts and pully's that drive the plant. Also a shop with great coffee and food.

What an interesting place to visit! My children had a blast (although it may have been easier if we'd put our 2 year old in the pram!) lovely friendly people who stayed open after closing to let us have a good look around! Thank you! Best cheese scone ever too plus delicious juices and a lovely gift shop!

It's fascinating that the tools made then are still in working condition. Good to see the origins of hays wire strainer.
Well worth a visit even if you're not into mechanics, my partner still found it very fun.
In addition to the museum, the cafe served very good latte and nachos.

Although the entry price is high it’s well worth a stop. Great coffee fantastic cheese rolls. Very busy as is on the cycle trail.

A great museum, especially if you are an engineer. Cafe is nice too. Well worth a stop on the rail trail. Should be better promoted on the trail.

We visited this place while cycling the rail trail, and it was a delightful, whimsical place.
Both myself and my wife had used a Hayes wire strainer as children, and had found it difficult to explain to my son how it worked, so being able to show it to him was great.
The story of the family, their fight against the elements, and his entrepreneurial spirit with the backing of his wife was truly fascinating.
While the tour was supposed to be self guided, the member of staff we spoke to conducted us part of the way and was very enthusiastic about the family.
The scones were pretty good as well.
Altogether a worthwhile interlude on the rail trail.

Just brilliant, best coffee in the Maniatoto and the muffins are off the scale. Friendly, welcoming service and that's just the cafe. Hayes and the cafe are a great place to stop, even if you've been before. Wonderfull.

Great wee cafe onsite, yummy food, great coffee and a selection on jam, jellies and nick nacks to purchase. Plenty of parking for all vehicles, the tour for the engineering workshop and homestead is fascinating, well worth stopping in and getting a great understanding of how some of the basic farming tools came into frustration. Thanks to the wonderful friendly staff for making the morning visit memorable. Highly recommend stopping in whether you are in your bike or in your car.

Fantastic to see a real pre-electric- motor workshop frozen in time as well as seeing an early 20th century wealthy homestead. The lunch was tasty too

We went for coffee and wound up staying a couple of nights there. Food and coffee were great, some lovely short walks and a really interesting story and guided tour of the old works. Well worth a stop over. 🌻🌻🌻

Amazing historic engineering site. I felt that more signage would be helpful especially in the factory. Food at the Cafe was good and reasonably priced.
The Lindis Pass is a scenic alpine driving route that passes through a conservation area with striking mountain views. It is an attractive destination for tourists traveling from the Mackenzie Region to Queenstown or vice versa. The pass features several viewpoints and pull-offs where travelers can stop and take pictures, as well as hiking trails for those looking to explore more of the area. Additionally, there are some interesting attractions along the way, such as Cromwell's giant fruit sculpture.
Great view of Lindis Pass, there are a few lookout stops at both left and right. Take a chance to snap a picture of you with snow capped mountain as a background. Trust me, it worth it.

I couldnt believe we can had such a beautiful scenery in this road 💜
The Wrinkly Rams is a unique spot that combines an eatery, art gallery, and wine bar with a live sheep shearing show. Visitors can enjoy classic local fare while watching a fascinating demonstration of New Zealand's high country sheep shearing, complete with a live sheep being shorn on stage. The show also includes a demonstration of an eye dog herding sheep.

The atmosphere and decor is homey. The food is average at best. We ordered from the lunch menu, the steak was over cooked, the burgers were dry but the seafood chowder and vegetarian pasta was good. The food aside, there are some super cute baby lambs out the back.

Pretty good place for a bite to eat and souvenir shopping/browsing. Plenty of options to choose from. We tried ham and chrese croissant and a chicken pie from the hot cabinet, both were pretty good. Prices comparable to every other place in this area and a good pit stop on your road trip. Plenty of parking and clean toilet facilities. Petrol pumps in the adjacent premises.

It’s a nice place for food as a stopover! We got the all day breakfast but we found the food to be tasty, but average. The sausage was a little too big to chew on, but the hashbrown is a highlight and tasted great. The staffs are really friendly too. It’s nothing too spectacular but it’ll definitely fill you up!
Nestled in the picturesque town of Omarama, Hot Tubs Omarama offers a unique and relaxing experience for adults and kids alike. The hot and cool tubs, filled with chemical-free glacial water from the surrounding mountains, provide a soothing retreat at the end of Lindis Pass. Visitors can reserve private tubs for up to 8 people, perfect for unwinding under the starry night sky.
We were very fortunate to have a walk in session. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The views from the hot tubs were stunning. The lake had frozen over for the winter. The pools and facilities were well maintained and clean. Highly recommend anyone coming through the area to book a stop.
Shout out to Jill for being such a lovely host.

We booked a site comprising of a wood fired hot tub, a shelter with a changing room and a sauna, that we had to turn on. We had a view of a lake with ducks and mountain ranges. We were allocated 90 minutes. The tub's temperature can be customized by turning on a cold water tap. Increasing the temperature only requires opening a vent for a short time. Word of warning... There is a chimney that can get very hot. Avoid touching. It is worthwhile after a days cycling on the A2O trail.

Not many tourists spot in Omarama but if you ever stay overnight or pass by this small town this might be a must visit place for you a very similar concept to Japanese onsen whereby you have a chance to immense yourself in a hot tub especially during winter each hot tub is secluded and fronting a lake with a good view of snow mountains if you would like to have a good view of glazing stars strongly suggest that you come after dark less food choices now due to short of staffs

Really enjoyed our time here, was very relaxing at dusk with views of the pond and mountains. Staff were polite and friendly. I feel that perhaps bookings should stop at 6pm, so staff can leave at 8. I felt a little rushed having a shower at the end and didn’t want to delay staff going home after a long day.

Very relaxing spot to unwind with an outlook over a duck pond. Nice and private wood fire hot tubs with private changing room and shared shower/bathroom area. There is a bar at reception if you fancy a beer or wine and cold drinking water was provided for us to take to the tubs. Reasonable price for a private 90min session.
Frances Cox — Google review
Definitely a trip highlight and a beautiful place with realistic chances of booking a slot. Prices are reasonable and good privacy overlooking a small pond. The ability to vary water temp is a big plus for we have a child sensitive to high temps. We ordered a charcuterie board later and it was fabulous. I'll return if I have the chance.

Hot tubs are very nice. The tubs are made of metal, and you can not see anyone else in the area. You can hear other parties but not see them, so the privacy is really nice. The views are great as well.
You have your own private changing room and shower, fully enclosed.
Beware of the heating element and piping.

We greatly enjoyed soaking away our tired muscles after hiking in Mount Cook National Park. The (minimum) 90 minute session was just the right amount of time as it includes walking and changing time. Nice that you could buy a glass of champagne to have while soaking. We paid $120 for two of us and had private access to the tub and a changing room. We appreciated that you could control the temperature because it got quite hot!

We really enjoyed this unique experience. We love hot tubs, but this was like no other. Heated by fire, you get to enjoy that smoky smell while watching the ducks skid across the water in their landing. Each tub is secluded from the other. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Private group wood fire hot tubs. Recommend for colder days, we got a bit hot after a while. The facilities were great but would have been nice if there was more view or something to look at.
Kim Kimington — Google review
It was a lovely experience to have this private tub for yourself.
They have approx 10 sites and they are all very well separated.
Very hot and wonderful quiet place with the river and ducks.
The only downside is that not all the sites have this perfect mountain view as seen on the picture, but you can still see them from an other angle
Tina Boudreault — Google review
Really lovely hot tub experience. Private changing huts with radiant heaters.
Offers a range of drinks, some of which can be taken to the hot tub. They have a small food menu, food understandably can't be taken to the hot tub
There are cold showers by the tubs & hot showers in the main building.
TBH the hot showers let them down a bit. The floor is polished concrete, which I'm sure made sense from a cost & cleanliness point of view, but when wet it's incredibly slippery & very cold underfoot. Some plastic duck boarding would solve both problems. A stool for getting dressed would be useful too, as would somewhere in the shower to put your toiletries other than the floor
These small niggles aside it was a great experience & we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it

Glide Omarama is a renowned gliding center located in Omarama, offering flight experiences ranging from 20 minutes to several hours, as well as training courses. Visitors have praised the expertise of the pilots and the unique experience of gliding over stunning landscapes with no visual restrictions. The feeling of quiet, calm, and tranquility while soaring like a bird has been described as an "awesome" and "must-do" experience.
Pilot Marten and me achieved a long flight over Mt. Cook on Feb.12, 2020.
As i am a paragliding pilot who fly sailplane for the first time, pilot Marten demonstrated me great wave soaring, which is completely different from thermal soaring in paragliding. At beginning of that flight it was quite tricky. We flew close to the hill and was doing intense maneuvers to catch the lift. But Marten finally made it! We climbed into smooth wave, reached the altitude of 16,000ft, and flew over Mt. Cook! A great day! Unbelievable scenery! And a big thanks to Marten and Glide Omarama club!
Although the price is high(NZ$824 for 2.5h), it deserve! Don't compare with airplane or helicopter. Remember, this is a glider without engine. Soaring without engine is a great sport which requires courage, talent and technique, contrarily, airplane & Helicopter are just transportation. I recommend, if you are going to try some aviation sports in NZ, do gliding in Omarama!

Fantastic experience! A 'must do' once in your lifetime at least! Very expensive for local retired 'kiwis' though.
Gliding is sooo different from scenic plane flights though, yes you see the scenery..in fact more as there is no visual restrictions..but it's the feeling of quiet, calm & tranquility just gliding like a bird for half an hour..awesome 😍

High Country Salmon is a family-owned boutique salmon farm located near Twizel, New Zealand. They raise glacial mountain salmon in the hydro canal system, ensuring a short supply chain and the freshest salmon possible. Visitors can enjoy coffee and salmon-inspired food at the cafe, feed the salmon on the floating deck, purchase fresh salmon from the fish shop, or even catch their own.
Definitely worth the stop if you are passing through here. Lots of fresh sushi, sashimi and cooked meals. The sushi was incredibly fresh as you'd expect, generously packed with salmon and the chowder was tasty and hearty. We brought some items to takeaway and they packed them with ice. The beetroot cured salmon is exceptional and some of the best you'll taste but at $100 per kg it's pretty steep. Worth it for a splurge.

A great place to take kids for fishery education. This is a private farm and grow fresh water salmon in a glacier fed lake, so it's unique on its own. Kids love to feed salmon here, so it is worth doing. They do sell fresh salmon and all other salmon related products. See pictures and video for details.

Delicious high quality salmon!! I also prefer this one over Mt Cook Alpine Salmon. Sure they've got the views, but this little salmon farm offers way more. There's a café with tons of cabinet food and a gift shop with salmon products and other goodies. Food is reasonably priced and yummy!

We enjoy a visit to the Salmon Farm and always come away with some fresh salmon to enjoy at home. There's a good selection of salmon based deliciousness and some food without salmon. We enjoyed watching a little girl catch a big fat salmon. I'm sure her parents went home with it, having paid $30 per kg for the privilege.

This is a salmon farm . You can pay and fish here or have breakfast / lunch at the simple cafe . They only have limited items. We arrived at 1 pm, already many items of food have been sold out. They also have a shop for frozen salmon , smoke salmon and other seafood items. Good for a visit, especially after a long drive.
I think there are more rooms for improvement.

Pinkest juiciest salmon I’ve tasted. This salmon farm has a cafe, fresh frozen salmon shop and also viewing platforms to the farm where you can feed the fish for a donation. Had some sushi, took away some bellies for dinner and fed some fish. Very clean amenities and warm water taps was a plus for me. Wholesome stopover in my books.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at High Country Salmon near Twizel, and it was a delightful experience for my family and me. I would rate it 4 stars overall, and here's why:
First and foremost, the highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the amazing Salmon belly sashimi. The freshness and quality of the salmon were evident with each delicate bite. It practically melted in our mouths, and the flavors were simply exquisite. It's a must-try for any seafood lover.
We also ordered the Thai style Salmon Laksa, which was a flavorful and unique dish. The combination of salmon in a Thai laksa was a delightful twist, and the taste was delicious. The only minor drawback was that the laksa could have been a little warmer, but it didn't detract significantly from the overall experience.
One of the standout features of High Country Salmon is the opportunity to go fishing for your own salmon. It's a fantastic option for those looking to engage in an interactive and fun experience during their visit. The staff were not only friendly but also helpful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, High Country Salmon near Twizel is well worth a visit, especially for families and seafood enthusiasts. The Salmon belly sashimi alone is reason enough to make the trip, and the chance to fish for your own salmon adds an extra layer of excitement to the visit. With friendly staff and a great atmosphere, it's a memorable dining destination in the area.

High Country Salmon is a must-visit for anyone in the Twizel area. The salmon is farmed in the pristine waters of the Mackenzie Country hydro canals, and it is some of the freshest and most delicious salmon I have ever tasted. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they are happy to answer any questions you may have.
I tried the smoked salmon, which was incredibly flavorful and had a perfect smoky taste. I also tried the sashimi, which was so fresh it melted in my mouth. I could have eaten the whole thing!
In addition to the salmon, High Country Salmon also has a variety of other products, such as caviar, smoked mussels, and salmon jerky. I also picked up some salmon oil, which is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids.
If you are looking for a delicious and healthy meal, I highly recommend High Country Salmon. You won't be disappointed!"
Forgot to add: Dont forget to buy a souvenir from the shop. Reasonable and a piece of memory comes with you. The chef is a genuinely talented yet humble person. Thanks to all.

A very popular salmon shop near Twizel. You will probably get all the the info on their website or other reviewers. However, in my opinion the salmon sashimi is nicer here than at the Mt Cook Alpine Salmon and the cafe variety is extensive. Highly recommended for a stop over for a meal but you can also stock up for eating and cooking later on as they provide ice packs to keep the food fresh.

Cute wee shop! Love that you can go and feed the salmon for a small donation my children absolutely loved it. Excellent outside seating space bit cramped inside but that's ok. Rave over the chicken sushi it is absolutely amazing I'm guessing the salmon Sushi is the same I haven't managed to get past the chicken sushi to try it! Husband loved the pies said they were one of the best pies he's had in a long time. Definitely recommend the stop for something different.

We tried the hot smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and the raw salmon sushi, both of which were excellent. The bagel had a generous serve of hot smoked salmon, which had a balanced smoky flavour. You can also feed the fish for free or fish for your own salmon. There is also a nice produce shop selling souvenirs, all types of smoked and fresh salmon and condiments. Worth a stop for a meal.

Food was decent but service could be better at the cafe side. The rice ball was served cold, we had to ask them to microwave it. The ducks made up for it as they were very cute and inquisitive.
Jenny on the Fish Shop side was more friendly and welcoming. And great to knowing her!

Very cool seeing a fresh water salmon farm in person.
The Cafe was popular and the space was a bit small for the amount of traffic it had but there are outdoor seatings available. I tried their sashimi, it was fresh with a clean taste and firm textures.
Allow some time to browse the Fish Shop next to the Cafe as there are many salmon products stocked. From cured and smoked salmon of various flavours to fresh salmon to caviar.
🅿️ Plenty of parking space available.
♿ Wheelchair-friendly with ramps to the Cafe and Fish Shop, and accessible restroom.

Convenient to visit from Lake Tekapo and overall, a great lunch stop if you’re a salmon fan. We found the fresh sashimi very very good ($35 for the largest portion) but the cooked food options less so. The best dish from the kitchen was the smoked salmon salad, but the laksa, burger and quiche was just okay.
The counter staff was very helpful and friendly, service was fast despite the busy lunch rush. Indoor seating is rather limited but on warmer days, it’s very pleasant to sit outside and watch people catch salmon. The salmon shop also has an incredible selection of fish to be purchased, raw or smoked in a variety of different ways / flavours.

We booked to go catch your own fish. We had four adults and two children and we had a wonderful time. The staff were amazing with the children and showing all of us how to fish and made sure we had a great experience. We all successfully caught a fish. I highly recommend this, the salmon was also amazing to eat after- but it was the staff and their awesome manner that made it for us. Pictured 6 year old who caught this 6.2kg salmon and was very proud.

Wow! Just amazing & such great value. We had a lovely ciabatta with roasted vegetables, the fabulous platter (YUM), the salmon sushi & cooked salmon. If you’re lucky, you might get the dessert of the day. The cabinet is full of great choices including chicken & breakfast options. The maki roll is the best! Lovely outside seating too. The Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Shop is a small store located at the Lake Pukaki visitor center, offering a unique selection of locally farmed freshwater Chinook salmon products. Visitors are impressed by the ultimate freshness and exceptional flavor of the salmon, with some comparing it to the quality found in Japan. The shop provides stunning views of Lake Pukaki and Aoraki/Mt Cook, making it an ideal spot to enjoy their delicious salmon offerings.
A small shop that sells thrift and souvenirs and fresh salmon. A good deal of baby salmon gutted and gilled, 1.4-1.8kg for $35! And a great view of the mighty Aoraki, a place worth stopping by.

Very average compared to High Country Salmon down the road. They don’t sell sushi and the sashimi is made of very thin strips (<1cm) which are mostly skin so impossible to make sushi with, probably just the off cuts from the fillets. Can only presume the good reviews are due to the view of Aoraki but if you’re looking for better salmon then stop at HCS in Twizel.

A small place that sells fresh salmon only and no cooked food. Nice place for salmon sashimi, very fresh king salmon and tasty too. King salmon seems to be more lean than others species. There are also accessories, sauces and drinks sold here.

This shop overlooks the beautiful lake pukaki and views of Aoraki & Mt cook, serving both as a visitor information centre & salmon shop. A box of farmed freshwater salmon costs $45 for 500g, which is a decent amount to share between 4 people. There’s also packaged salmon for pan seared or grille for a home cooked meal. The salmon is quite nice and somewhat different to Australian salmon 🍣
The shop is tiny which sells salmon, hot drinks and souvenirs. There’s also a small high top table capable of max. 6 people around the table. I’m giving minus 1 star for lack of internal seating area especially for those windy cold days where everyone is coming to enjoy some salmon and looking for a warm place to sit. While outside provided tables with lake views, it’s more suited for a warm summers day. As it gets quite windy and cold, you won’t find enjoyable unless you love chilly weather.
Mt cook alpine is a must stop shop on your way to Mt cook or at least to try New Zealand bred salmon.

I was thoroughly impressed with the location of this shop. The shop is located in a picturesque setting with stunning views of the nearby mountains. With spacious parking for campervans. You can park here and set up your chairs to eat outdoor as long as you dont block other's parking.
I did feel rush at the counter since the place has many customer non stop. It is not cheap. I had the box of mixed parts of their fresh salmon and it was alright, not excellent like the salmon I had in Japan, but it is an experience for alpine salmon. The quality and freshness of the fish was truly decent.
I also purchased some smoked salmon and it did not disappoint. The smoky flavor was just nice and the texture of the fish was spot on. If you have left over, add into your sandwich or next cook meal.
Although the salmon did not wow me, but it's a must-visit destination for salmon lovers in New Zealand.

The salmon tastes amazing. We bought a piece to cook at our accommodation and loved it. The prices are very reasonable and so many different sizes available.

Fully aware that this is a tourist trap but I willingly fell for if hook line and sinker. Loved the salmon, loved the views while having the salmon. Went all out and bought the 500g salmon ($40) and we had a lovely afternoon just enjoying some salmon while absorbing the views of Lake Pukaki.

Great place to chill and relax while satisfying salmon sashimi craving ☺️

Really interesting location to eat salmon sashimi. It's located next to an information centre and had awesome views to mount cook and the snowy mountain ranges, as well as the pristine lake. Absolutely a must to stop by, even if it's just for the view :)

The best salmon sashimi I’ve ever had. I wasn’t a raw salmon person but THIS SALMON changed me. Overlooking Lake Pukaki and Mt Cook and the snowy mountains, while enjoying this incredibly fresh salmon, what an amazing experience. Their salmon sashimi comes in two sizes, it’s best to call and reserve before going because they can be sold out pretty fast. Enjoying salmon sashimi by the lake would always be one of my best experiences in New Zealand.

Indulged in a culinary delight at the salmon haven by Lake Pukaki. The restaurant offers a sensory symphony with its exquisite fresh sashimi, showcasing the pristine flavors of locally sourced salmon. The panoramic view of Lake Pukaki enhances the dining experience, creating a picturesque backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The restaurant's commitment to freshness is evident in every bite, and the combination of delectable salmon and stunning scenery makes it a must-visit gem in when you pay a visit to Mt. Cook in New Zealand. Truly a sensory feast for both the palate and the eyes.

The shop sells both tasty salmon treats as well as a souvenir store. It also functions as a cafe as a place to grab some refreshments while enjoying the view. The window by the shop has a nice viewpoint of Mount Cook labelled.

EXCELLENT SALMON SASHIMI, great value for price!!! 500g salmon sashimi for about 40 over NZD, which was really cheap compared to sashimi from Japanese restaurants or at least the sashimi I’m used to.
Quality is really good and fresh too!
Views are stunning and spectacular, drove down and visited the shop twice during my short stay at Tekapo. Lady at the counter was very friendly as well. Highly recommended!!!!

Location next to information center and right next to the lake. We had good deal for salmon sashimi (buy 1, get 1 free). We had it right on the spot, since there are dining tables next to a car park. Taste was really good, worth giving it a go.

Best sashimi what I have ever had. *****
I arrived around 3:15pm and they delivered more sashimi at 3:45pm. It is worth it to wait for it.
100g for $13
500g for $46
including wasabi and amazing say sauce.
Amazing staff 😎

Nice sashimi, recommend adding some pickled ginger for extra deliciousness. It's not cheap but probably the best view while eating salmon I've ever had 😀 didn't have any bad experiences here. I would say it's worth a visit if you like salmon or just a rest stop to enjoy the view.

sashimi tasted fresh and kinda fatty (and not too much) and great price, just $13 for 100g, also amazing views.

The salmon is really fresh. Love it so much. We also ordered the hot bbq smoked salmon and the caviar. All are really good 🥰🥰🥰

Every fresh salmon enthusiast's dream come true. Deliciously tender & melt-in-your-mouth. Reasonable prices for what it is. Condiments like gochujang all sold together too. All with a breathtakingly stunning accompanying view. Scenery and salmon. What a combination.

Some of the best fresh salmon sashimi I have ever had! Very simple selection of sashimi and smoked salmon packs, which you can then take outside and eat at the edge of the gorgeous Lake Pukaki. A must stop for salmon lovers on your way to or from visiting the Mt Cook National Park area!

This place was the Highlight of our visit to lake pukaki as there was heavy rain all day.
The freshwater king salmon sashimi was amazing 🔝
Plus the nice lake views while enjoying the sashimi

Great location. Service is not as good. I think the staff is sick of tourists. He wasn't look to happy to be there. We asked how would they provide any ice if we buy salmon to take home. He said yes he will put ice in paper bag. So I asked him again. Would the ice in plastic bag as it would be melt in paper back. As we will take home to Dunedin. He gave me the attitude look and said " you probably Dont know how kiwi work! We will put ice in paper bag,!!!!" so My kiwi husband repeated the question. Staff said "you Dont understand how we kiwi do thing"... We both said "excuse me, we are kiwi and we live in New Zealand, we know you cannot provide plastic shopping bag, we want to know is the ice packed in the plastic to prevent the melting".
At the end we asked to see the ice. The he said it won't melt. Show us the ice pack (which is in the plastic)
Omg took ages for him to get what we meant.
A bit pricey for a box of sashimi $45. With 4 soy sauce and Wasabi. If we want more. That would cost more.
Fresh salmon. Beautiful packaging but so many plastic thrown away after all tourists had salmon.
I felt it is not very environmentally. They could have soy sauce bottle is in instead and serve on plate of dine in.
I only gave two stars only from the bad services. Salmon is 5 stars!

Friendly and helpful staff/cashier in selecting salmon cuts. Was there half hour before closing and theres still loads of people as its a fine sunny day. Wide selection of salmon and its really fresh. Lots of seating available outside with great view of Mt Cook and Lake Pukaki.
Shahrir Zaid — Google review
This place pleasantly surprised me in its unique array of cuts, its ultimate fresh flavour and the incredible views all the way to mount cook on a perfectly clear day. Having been to Japan, the salmon quality here (especially its sashimi which is a must try) is of equal or better standard what is found there. The king salmon being sold goes down smooth and I’m hungry for the next time i can visit. Nothing but perfection from this place in both my visits, anything you buy there is worthy of being eaten!

A great rest spot with beautiful scenery and iconic sculptures. The glass house is perfect for photography. Fresh salmon is available, albeit a bit pricey ($45 for large box of sashimi). Plenty of picnic chairs by the lake for relaxation and dining. However, the picnic chairs lack shade. Facilities include restrooms and ample parking space.
Paige W — Google review
Melt in your mouth salmon sashimi. It is $22 for 250g which is a great portion for 2 people. They also have good quality soy sauce and wasabi. There is only one small table inside for dining, otherwise there are picnic benches outside. I would suggest the shop consider more dining inside as we were there on a hot, sunny day. You can tell the shop has grown in popularity recently which may explain the lack of seating.

Lake Pukaki in the South Island is a stunning glacially-fed lake with milky-blue waters, offering breathtaking views of Mount Cook. The lake's beauty makes for a scenic drive with numerous spots to stop and take in its picturesque surroundings. Visitors can walk down closer to the lake and capture memorable photos of the awe-inspiring landscape.
Another massive and beautiful lake in the South Island, which makes for a very scenic drive. There are places where you can stop and walk down close to the lake.

Definitely worth a couple of visits! You can get even closer to the mountains when you drive towards Mount Cook. The lake is an endless body of turquoise blue. There is plenty of parking available. Toilet facilities are not the best though.

Our coach passed beautiful Lake Pukaki on the way to Mount Cook, which became visible from quite a distance. The entire lake is an almost perfect and consistent aquamarine, from the glacial runoff silt.
Graham Tranter — Google review
It is worth it to visit it. The water is clear blue but quite cold so be ready for it. It is just a little bit warmer than Lake Tekapo (both of them are glacier lakes). We slept in a freedom campground and could go to swim from this place and as a bonus we had a great view on Mount Aoraki/Mount Cook. We can reccomend Lake and the freedom campground as well. But the camp is just for one night in the month.
