Absolute blast!
Enough shade to take your own picnic basket or bbq stuff.
Some people had mini speakers as well, cool!
Wasn't necessary to get a bed at all especially because there is no food allowed in that area.

There is a wave pool and several attractions also. But water was not clean. Still good place to be. I want to go there again when it is not crowded. I had to wait about an hour to ride one attraction.

Went with my daughter and 2 grandsons ( 7 & 10 ) and we had a fantastic day. So many fun water and non water rides to go on. We arrived 9.45am and didn't leave until 4.45pm, tired and exhausted but we all agreed it was a great day. We splashed out and got a Beach Club VIP pass for the sun lounges and think it was worth it, very relaxed especially when it gets really crowded. Not a cheap day but considering all the attractions i consider it good value. Special mention to all Staff, they were exceptional 👏👏👏

Fun family day out at Funfields. My kids age 7 and 10 loved the slides and rides. Going I. March was great as it wasn’t super busy and rides were at most a 5 minute wait. There were enough seats around the Volcano Beach to sit and the water at the wave pool was fun for kids without being too deep. We will be back again!
Jane Levinson — Google review
We got season passes for the first time and we absolutely love this place. The water slides are fantastic and the non water rides and attractions are fun for all. I can't wait to see what they will add in the future. Definitely getting season passes next year as well. Fun for all the family but check the hight restrictions for the young kids on the website before you visit.

We came on a semi cool day and it was perfect. No waits, no line ups, just straight onto the rides.
The park was super clean and staff was super helpful.
The rides were amazing, the 2 big rides Gravity and Supernova were sooooooo good and kids loved them all.
Would come back again and again for sure.

I had an amazing time at this place! There are plenty of fun activities for both adults and kids. The location is impressively clean and well-organized. I went with my family and friends, and we all had a blast.

It was overcast and the best day to go at 24°. Wasn’t busy at the entrance at all. The wave pool at the back is heated a bit. Stayed for four hours. Kids loved it (ages 4-8)

Was honestly blown away by what this place had to offer. Great value for money and awesome family day out. Plenty of rides and pools to keep the kids busy and plenty of space to relax, take a picnic etc. Also has good food options on site too. Will be back for sure and recommend going if you have been. Saves a trip to the Gold coast!

We chose to go on the non-35-degree day of the weekend which was a great idea, no lines, sit anywhere you want, ride anything you want when you want. Great options for wet or dry rides for all ages. Kids had a blast, we stayed from opening to close. Only 1 small complaint, the gokarts were overstaffed with 4 workers while the kids rides were understaffed with staff having to jump between alternating rides.
Mark Foster — Google review
Wonderful experience! Everything was superb. There were a lot of electrical swings, water slides and swimming poles. Children of all ages can enjoy there. You should definitely visit it if your children like water park and swimming. 👍
Shehla Kausar — Google review
Had awesome time and had fair amount of activities (90% of the activities are water activities )
But i think it's best to clearly explain about slingshot pass ( with that you can skip the line for one time for selected activities ) otherwise with general admission, you can do all the activities but there might be 30 min line in busy days 👍
yasas navodya — Google review
It is an excellent place for a summer weekend, and I will definitely go back; they have rides for all ages; my 4-year-old daughter had a perfect day there.
Uncle Vee — Google review
The customer service at the theme park was incredibly disappointing. From long wait times to unhelpful staff, it made what should have been a fun day out incredibly frustrating. Our family went there yesterday for easter egg hunt which would have been first ever egg hunt experience for my 2.5 yr old son but due to lack of humbleness and empathy among staff, that experience went sour. They at first forgot to give us egg hunt pass at entry despite of asking them if we need one, FYI we 4 adults and 1 kid all bought full priced day pass and egg hunt ticket was included in same price. We lined up for 20 mins and when it was our turn to go for egg hunt, they said we cant allow u without egg hunt ticket which entry staff forgot to hand it to us. We mentioned if its okay if we show the entry ticket. They denied & said we need the egg hunt ticket and said to leave. My husband quickly ran to entry gate and got the ticket. We were back in literally 2 mins and showed them the ticket but they said now its turn for 4-6 yr kids and we cant let parent accompany your kid as big kids go on their own. They were not considerate at all knowing a child is awaiting to go. The hunt was meant to be till 1230 hrs for 0-3 yrs kids but they had started sending 4-6 yr kids from 1220hrs onwards. Further to that we went to icecream parlour located there to collect drinks. My son is a fussy eater and he wanted to have waffle cone by itself without icecream and we requested for same nd said we are happy to pay but they said we cant sell only cone without ice cream. What kind of customer service is this? It's disheartening when a place meant for enjoyment falls short in providing basic assistance and courtesy to its visitors.

We really enjoyed our experience at funfield today.Despite the rain, we had a great time.Barely need to queue.
Sadly due to the weather, we missed a few rides, but we had fun of all the other rides and water slides.😊
Dee Pintar — Google review
We had an absolute ball at funfields today. All the young men and women working were really lovely, very helpful and had a sense of humour when we were a little (haha) scared of some of the rides. A really enjoyable day.
Just know if you are going on any of the land rides you need to be dry, so we did all the water activities and then changed into our dry clothes. We were there for 7 hrs.
Thanks funfields for a great day.

We want to say a HUGE thank you to Angelo Dinardo for being such a generous and kind Managing Director of this place. Today at 4.44pm after waiting for a good 20 minutes at Supenova we were turned down by the staffs. They told us that all the ride would close in 5 mins. We pleaded with them, telling them that we have waited for so long, but they didnt budge. My two daughters were so sad about it, so we and a bunch of others left. But, on the way down we accidentally met with Angelo and his dog, he saw us looking gloomed and questioned us why we went down. We told him the story, and he said “No one should be turned down, go back up and tell them Angelo said so”. So we did!
We had one last ride at Supenova and IT WAS THE BEST!
Thank you so much for bringing the smile back on my daughter’s faces.
Highly recommend this waterpark ❤️

Had a 9 year old birthday party at funfields on their opening weekend for 2023. Great park, such a great range of rides for all age groups… the park is very clean and well maintained and staff were young but very polite. Great layout as well, had an amazing day

Amazing place. Was sold out so maximum capacity of guests but theres so many different activities that the lines arent even that long. But buy your tickets in advance as too not miss out.
There’s a reason the rating for this boutique winery is 4.9/5. Tremendous hospitality by Bob, Dianne and Jo, and wines that are so beautifully crafted, along with an amazing lunch.
Dianne and Bob spend time with us talking about each wine their poured, and their process from vine to glass. Also Bob, thanks for the recommendation for the seafood boat trip for Hobart, and more so for that 24 year old drop.
The smoked meats (we had the kangaroo) and cheeses and accompaniments were some of the best we have had. We will be back for lunch again.
Thanks for having us.

Great wines, they are a different style and variety to your mass produced wines, this place is worth a visit, bought a few to take home. The Topaque and blue cheese goes together really well. It was a good afternoon sitting on the balcony enjoying the view and meeting the Donkeys.
Tristram Lucas — Google review
Beautiful spot with friendly staff. The wine was pretty good but great smoked food and the best views over the valley. Recommend dropping in and grabbing a glass on the balcony.

There is a lot to love about Yileena Park! A charming double story cottage with a view! The owner, Bob, took us through the wine tasting and told us many stories! The wine was excellent. And it’s definitely worth buying some smoked products too; I am loving the olives!!
Natasha Venizelos — Google review
A small micro boutique winery with some great wine. The owner, Bob, is such a friendly and knowledgeable wine maker who takes great care in explaining about his wines! Will be place I would love to come again for wine tasting and it's cheese platter!
Chris Yong — Google review
I thought “how could this place have 140+ 5-star reviews?” We almost didn’t come because I thought it was a scam. And the pictures just looked ok. But the pictures don’t do Yileena Park justice. The tasting room is small but beautiful with a balcony that has the most incredible view. But that is secondary to the wines. Every single one is fantastic. Really, truly fantastic. And the sommelier person was so incredibly knowledgeable but in an approachable way. We only had a smidge of their food, but I wish we’d had more of an appetite. They smoke everything in house.
Do yourself a favor and go. This place is worth all those 5 star reviews.
Cara Schmidt — Google review
Went there as part of a Yarra Valley mystery tour which promoted the opportunity to feed the Donkeys and enjoy smoked produce.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to feed the Donkeys (apparently by 1pm they had too much to eat already).
The piece of smoked duck was pleasant but no wow factor for us which was a shame.
Tiff — Google review
Had an enjoyable wine tasting experience with Yileena Park! Host gave us enough private time to enjoy every glass. There no rush or pressure for purchase!
This make our visit was not only great but one of the best in the region!
A great chat with host and of course meeting their lovely mascots. 😄
Cecilia W — Google review
This is our second visit to Yileena after our first visit 6 years ago. This became our favorite winery after our first visit, so there was a little trepidation that our second visit might destroy what we have come to love. The second visit impressed us even more than the first, not sure how that was possible. This winery is run by Bob & Diane – a husband wife team who exactly know what they are doing. Diane entertains the guests at their Cellar Door sharing stories about the wine and the deliciously curated accompaniments (Dukkah, Smoked Cheeses, Olives and even Kangaroo ham!). This winery is on a small scale – Bob mentioned that while most wineries harvest 6-8 tons of grapes per acre, their goal is around 2! The entire experience is incredibly personal! We visited during the warmest time of the day, so there were not many visitors, that allowed us an ample time to converse with the Bob & Diane who know exactly why and how they create their wines.
The only place to purchase their wine & delicacies is from their cellar door. So be sure to stop by for a tasting or just to shop. It will continue to be a stop that cannot be missed on any future trip to Melbourne!
Love from Minnesota!

We had a wonderful time at Yileena Park. Wine and cheese platter were delicious. The balcony has a beautiful scenery. Owners are so lovely, plus they have two cute donkeys. We will definitely come back again.

An outstanding find in the Yarra Valley, thanks to our tour guide for the day Craig from the Yarra Valley Touring Company. A place to sit on the deck outside overlooking the surrounds, or a warm spot inside to escape the chill, this really is a wonderful experience. The wine tasting is only matched by the decadence of the house made duck and kangaroo hams with the platters. A match made in heaven.
We will certainly return to this little treasure of the valley.

Yering Station Winery is a prestigious winery located in the Yarra Valley, in Victoria, Australia. Established in 1838, it is one of the oldest and most respected wineries in the region. The wines produced by Yering Station are known for their extraordinary variety and quality. Additionally, the winery features an upscale restaurant with stunning views of the valley.
The dishes were delicious, they only have a selection of 2 courses $70 or 3 courses $85 and we wanted 3 mains, 2 entrees. The manager was happy to charge us $48 for the extra main so that worked out great for us. They offered free wine tastings and a wide range of selections. Stunning view and great service. Quite pricey but worth the dining experience

Great food and Service. The waitress went to bring colouring pencils for my 4 year old daughter which was much appreciated.
The quail wasn't gamey but the sauce was. Cheese platter could feed 4 I reckon.
The steak eye was amazing! Very well cooked with so much flavour! I was also impressed with the Dory. It had so much texture and bite compared to what I find in my country. The rabbit felt like tuna to me though but still good.

Excellent service and food! The waitress are very friendly and helpful. I booked the table online, they reserved a table with awesome window view for us! All the starters and mains are outstanding (looks pretty & taste good), the potions are bigger than i expected. It’s make sense to have 15% surcharge during the public holiday. I would recommend this place to my friends.

We booked for lunch for celebrating birthday.
But we went to wine tasting before start lunch.
They said if you booked for lunch at the restaurant, tasting fee will be no charged. That’s very nice to know!!
All wine was nice.
Staff at the tasting were very attentive.
Staff in the restaurant , they welcomed us with big smile and services we received was excellent and friendly.
Food was beautifully presented and taste was very sensitive.
The portion was just right size for me. Just once thing if I can add, the food was bit under seasoning for my preference.
But overall We had lovely dinning experiences .
The staff who served us was so lovely, I think her name was Julietta. Thank you so much for your lovely smile :) Your smile made our day!!

A good dining experience with great wine selection
The dining experience could have been better. My steak temperature was a bit overcook but the food itself tasted amazing.
the presentation is on point but sadly the entire experience could have been more faster. Waited too long for each food.
The wine selection is great! Must try

Came here during the Easter weekend and the place was packed as expected. Did the wine tasting and there was a 30 mins wait and I was understanding, so we spent the time browsing the premises and admiring some of the artwork, architecture and the garden. Beautifully curated and on another day could spend a whole afternoon. Definitely one of the best wineries in the area.

Magnificent food. A taste experience. Wonderful service and ambience with lovely views to the Kinglake Ranges. 2 and 3 course menu options, so not a value meal, but the value is there if you are looking for top tier dining experience with great wine

We had 3 banquet menu, it was $85pp for lunch. Price was reasonable but food was not good enough. Mostly dry, only dessert was good. I would recommend this place to someone who only cares about the atmosphere not the taste of food.

Food was exceptional, really tasty, enjoyed every dish. Service - can be improved… staff weren’t highly efficient to cope with the busy lunch hour.

Delicious food, excellent quality and quantity. Good selection of wines. Four stars not five stars due to service (the staff were run off their feet); and there are better or just as good restaurants that are not as pricey.

Exceptional wine tasting at Yering Station Cellar Door! 🍷 Kudos to Ryan, the manager, for his expertise and hospitality. As a qualified winemaker from NZ, I vouch for the incredible taste of their wines. The 2021 Reserve Shiraz Viognier stole the show— very smooth tannins, ready for drinking now and ripe red fruits on the nose. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Yering Station Winery while on a Hen’s winery tour. The property was beautiful and had a great variety of wines. While we were there, we did a wine tasting session.
The staff member (sorry I don’t remember her name) was very knowledgeable on both the wines we were tasting, as well as the history of the winery which was great to listen to and learn about.
Overall I enjoyed the whole experience. I would come back here to try the food.

Had a delicious lunch at Yering Station as part of a wine tour. The potatoes are very well done and addictive. The lamb shank was perfectly fall off the bones with delicious flavours

Always love visiting this winery as they have such beautiful grounds. Their tastings are all very good value, we did the $15 tasting where we were able to try 9 different wines. Also if you buy any wine you get your tasting fees waived. Only thing is we came close to closing so our tasting was a bit rushed but still very enjoyable!

A lovely treat for the weekend!
We went to Yering Station for a Christmas lunch and it was absolutely delicious! We had the option for a 2 or 3 course meal but I would recommend the 3 as the food is too yum to miss. I had the zucchini flower entreé, and for main the Lamb rack which came with a mushroom pie and for dessert a peach panacotta!
Definitely a pricier experience but great for a special occasion :)

Stopped for wine tasting. Expert host took us through the various tiers of tasting and the entire flight of wines based on the tier chosen. Very informative and great introduction to Yarra Valley wine style. Beautiful winery.
Kevin Ang — Google review
Went there today for a 70th birthday. The food looks great in the photos, but had absolutely no flavour. The fish in the first photo was extremely dry and no flavour, the crab was exactly the same, I wouldn’t even call it crab for the minuscule amount that was inside. For $80 for two courses it was an absolute rip off. The only meal anyone in my family had anything positive words to say was the Kangaroo. Even the dessert had no flavour. We spent over $1000 as a family and feel extremely ripped off.
No table water, and no one came back to offer if we required more we had to flag staff down. Attention to detail lacking, no salt and pepper on the table either. Now I NEVER season my food but in this instance it definitely required seasoning. Don’t waste your money.

We came for a wine tasting after a recommendation from friends. Yering Station boasts the reputation as one of the oldest wineries in the region, and their skills are apparent in their wine. There is a good range of options for tastings and the Estate option provides you with the best selection.
After trying the Estate selection, I fell in love with the Shiraz Viognier and left with a bottle to share with my family 🍷The garden entrance to the tasting room is gorgeous and worth a visit, especially on a sunny day.

Very nice place, enjoyed walking around the Property after. Victoria's oldest winery. Not a big fan of the set price menu, although most of the wineries do it.Went there mid week so not to busy.
Would recommend this place.👍
The Melbourne Museum is a large and comprehensive museum dedicated to history with exhibits on Victoria's natural and cultural heritage, as well as a range of interactive displays for children. There is also an IMAX cinema.
Gorgeous, informative exhibit for all ages. We spent hours here perusing the collection, everything is kept in wonderful condition. Lots of kids running around which is great to see — I’m glad that families are coming here to learn about different aspects of the world and its history. Perfect place to bring any person who loves their science.

Really cool experience overall with lots of things to see and do! Different displays and detailed explanations to match the work on display. Great activity for any age and is an overall great learning experience. I didn't go myself, but the Cafe seemed a little over priced for the products, but other than that, I had a really great time!

Really nice and worthy museum with lots of things to look at. Entrance ticket was cheap $15 and very worth it. There are lots of fossils, dinosaurs, solar system, taxidermy, gemstones, insects, history of Victoria, art to look at. You definitely do not wish to miss this if you’re in Melbourne. Good place for family with kids! Expect to spend at least 3-5 hours here.

One of the standout features was the clarity of the signs throughout the museum. This made navigating the exhibits a breeze and enhanced the overall experience. The museum itself is well-curated and offers a wealth of information. Highly recommended for both first-time visitors and those returning for another exploration! Anyway, love the triceratops !!!

The kids had so much fun visiting. Lots to see, do and learn. You have to prebook the playground so make sure you do that, but trust me it’s worth it. Easy to navigate around the museum. If you do a booked exhibit (such as us with the Titanic one) it can get quite crowded.

wow! what a fantastic Titanic exhibition. also, having the museum open at nighttime was a great move. loved the dress ups, drag performers, painting classes & fan making. staff were super helpful, and easy access to everything. would recommend buying tickets in advance!

A great way to spend a day exploring. Highly recommend it. I wish the exhibits were more written with adults in mind (more detailed language, as currently most of it is written for children) however I found the experience very enjoyable. The short haired lady working at the ticket booth was a delight.

I took my 5 year old brother to the Melbourne Museum and he loved it!
Just as I remembered as a little kid, there are so many things to see and interact with.
We went specifically to see the Triceratops: Fate of the Dinosaurs exhibition. It was really cool and was a great hit with my brother who loves dinosaurs. He also especially loved the insect and bugs section which had all kinds of creepy crawlys.
But even if you’re not a fan of bugs there’s still something for everyone. Personally my favourite section is the Australian history room - especially the history relating to Melbourne.
We have a museum membership so we were able to visit the museum for free, including the triceratops exhibition. I think if you have kids and they enjoy the museum it is definitely worth considering purchasing a membership. You even get discounts at the gift shop and cheaper parking too.
The museum was clean, had friendly and welcoming staff and overall we had a great time.

Visiting the Melbourne Museum is an immersive and captivating experience. The impressive architecture of the building itself draws you in, and once inside, you're greeted with a diverse range of exhibits showcasing the rich history, culture, and natural wonders of Australia. From ancient artifacts to interactive displays, the museum offers something for everyone. Walking through the exhibits, you'll learn about the indigenous peoples, flora, and fauna of the region, as well as the city's vibrant history and contemporary art scene. The interactive installations provide a hands-on approach to learning, making it engaging for both kids and adults. Overall, a visit to the Melbourne Museum is a journey through time and a celebration of the country's heritage and diversity.

I went there to check out the Lego Relics exhibition, featuring astonishing displays that are truly worth a visit. It demonstrates how Lego worlds thrive and blossom when humans no longer exist, set in the year 2530.
Each world has its own story and features a challenging scavenger hunt, making the entire exhibition more immersive. It's absolutely worth the money; I spent over 2 hours completing the hunt and searching for all the treasure eggs.
The museum itself also has a wide variety of collections, ranging from stunning triceratops and other dinosaur fossils, rare mineralogy crystals, exquisite miniatures, Melbourne's historical recordings, to living insects.

Loved the dinosaur displays they had! Absolutely amazing! Very educational and informative. There is a triceratops that's 85% complete from the fossils they found. This is a free exhibition with a standard $15 entry fee so go and check it out! There was also a lights show (unsure on the name) that was really cool

Great exhibits, though I and my friend were there specifically for the Titanic Exhibit. There are also several cafes to choose from, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the overall presentation of the Titanic Exhibit was nice and very informative. Overall, the museum is worth visiting and exploring.
Todd L. Sales — Google review
We went to explore the Titanic exhibit and found it to be very informative and amazing. There wasn't much of a wait to get in, but in the rooms they felt a bit compacted by too many people exploring. But I know that is to be expected as the exhibit was in high demand. We have been to the museum numerous times throughout the years and we roamed around again feeling the same excitement as previous years. Now the Cafe in the museum I personally found to be extremely overpriced for what you get. Overall I loved the experience of the Titanic exhibit and the general exhibits but will definitely be bringing my own food when we visit again. 😊

This museum is huge and has so many interesting exhibits to explore, from exhibits about dinosaurs, to animals & nature, to planet earth, to media & arts, to Aboriginal culture and MORE. You could probably spend almost a whole day here.
I can't fit my whole experience into a Google review, but here are some of my highlights:
🔸️ Today was 'Dress as a Dinosaur Day', so there were so many kids dressed up in the cutest dino costumes!!! My favourite was a kid's who made their costume out of cardboard.
🔸️ The dinosaur bones displays gave off "Night in the Museum" vibes. Very cool.
🔸️ There were several enclosures containing live insects, amphibians and water creatures. It was so fun watching them move around!
🔸️ The videos about endangered animals and conservation efforts were super informative and interesting! I loved watching them.
🔸️ There was an exhibit featuring the art of EXTREMELY talented students. This exhibit encompassed many types of art forms, including media, product design, audio engineering, studio art, etc... I particularly enjoyed watching the students' short films and animations. Man, they are talented.
Thanks Melbourne Museum for the wonderful experience :-)

Strongly recommended to visit if you are staying around Melbourne! The way they exhibit is unique and interesting. They exhibit not only bones, stones but also alive insects and fishes. There are plenty of species and variety of specimens. Of course children can enjoy the exhibition but adults also can enjoy it. A$15 entrance fee really worth it!

The museum was great. I found it a lot more interesting than going to a place like the zoo as everything is there on display and won’t move unlike animals that run away. The garden/forest was nice and I found it quite soothing moving along at our own pace. Tickets are for the whole day and you can leave to get lunch and then come back in. Great experience.

Interesting museum for kids and adults. I loved the dinosaur bones section. They have several quite complete skeletons (don't ask me to name them 😅). Watch out for the Forest Gallery in the middle of the building. Good place to take a break and look out into beautiful Australian flora. Also interesting exhibits and artifacts from the early Australian days. The section on First Nation weapons, jewellery, daily equipment was interesting too. The grounds outside the museum was beautiful. Have time to walk around too.

Awesome day out.... amazing entomology, rock & mineral displays! The dinosaurs, especially the Triceratops were cool. There are "models and miniatures" exhibits with an AMAZING dollhouse!

Visiting the Melbourne Museum was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported into a world of wonder and discovery. The highlight for me was undoubtedly the collection of dinosaur skeletons; it felt like stepping back millions of years into Earth's ancient past. The attention to detail and preservation of these magnificent creatures was awe-inspiring.
But the wonders didn't stop there. The museum's taxidermy animals were equally captivating, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with a diverse array of species from around the globe. Each exhibit was meticulously crafted, providing a glimpse into the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
The museum boasts a great display of various galleries, each offering its own unique insights and experiences. The forest gallery, in particular, was a highlight for me, offering a tranquil escape into the heart of nature within the bustling city. The immersive displays truly brought the sights and sounds of the forest to life.
Overall, a visit to the Melbourne Museum is an absolute must for anyone seeking adventure, knowledge, and inspiration. Whether you're a history buff, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a fun day out, this museum has something for everyone. Trust me, it's well worth the visit, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Absolutely incredible museum. Lots of cool stuff to see at this museum. The titanic exhibition is absolutely amazing, lots of memorabilia from the titanic, the replica of the staircase from the titanic is very much like the original one from the titanic, the iceberg there was really cold, just like how it was when the titanic sank, very awesome exhibition. Everything else there is also awesome. The dinosaur fossils are very awesome, the stuffed animals are very life like, just an incredible experience going to the museum, I absolutely love it, will definitely be going back to see more.

Such a wonderful immersive museum, can't believe we haven't visited sooner!!! Went to the First Peoples and Titanic exhibitions with the high team and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Staff were so helpful and friendly, vegetarian option for the Titanic high tea was phenomenal. Go early and book online to ensure you get in and avoid lines!
Can't wait to visit again so we can see the rest of the museum! Could definitely spend a whole day there and it was so fun and educational.

I planned to visit the museum for the Titanic exhibition but tickets were sold out. General entry cost AUD 15 for the museum's ordinary exhibition definitely worth it. There are lots of dinosaur skeletons and many different types of animals and insects to see
. Also many beautiful mine stones and crystal are shown and there is also a forest garden. I spent 3 hours here and enjoyed very much.

A "free day" and a day that co$t nothing except our time, curiosity and interest. Relocating to Melbourne after 36 years, the exhibition about the early history of Melbourne was very interesting indeed.
The outdoors garden was great, too. Ofcourse we will return

Amazing museum! My family of 2 kids and 2 adults had a blast looking at all the exhibits. There were some staff who would also take the time to answer questions. The price to enter was also reasonable.
For muslims there is a meditation room inside the building if you want to do your prayers.

I went to see the Titanic exhibition which was fantastic. My only issue is that too many people were in the exhibition at once and this made it difficult to see or avoid going shoulder to shoulder with other people (the only reason I gave this review a 4 star instead of a 5).
I had a look at some of the other exhibitions and particularly enjoyed seeing the real triceratops skeleton! The staff member in that section was very knowledgeable.

A beautiful place to visit to learn about precious stones and metals, animals and insects. I visited the children's centre, the science museum and the gift shop. Their staff is great, the environment is serene and enthralling and the air is very clean and crisp. My toddler and I enjoyed the visit. Thank you.
The Melbourne Central shopping mall is a renowned tourist destination and home to many popular stores and eateries. The building features a glass dome that gives it an impressive appearance, and is worth visiting for its architecture alone.

We've returned to Melbourne again to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Melbourne never lets us down.
There is so much on offer and activities to see and do.
It's such a short trip from Adelaide for us, so never an issue to come.
We did actually come here for the Moulin Rouge performance. Absolutely 💯 outstanding and the Regent Theatre just suited it down to a tee.
We went to the Melbourne Museum to see the Titanic Exhibition, it was spectacular.
We weren't let down with places to eat either, so much variety to choose from.
Thank you Victoria for giving us a great time away again.

They may have hard chairs made out of tiles but the variety of food shops makes sitting at them worth it. That's only downstairs near the rail station. There is hours worth of exploring to do including some unusual and unique things such as the tower and the clock (worth the wait to see it strike). There is wheelchair access to all areas and clean toilets spread throughout.

Melbourne is a well planned and well laid out place in Victoria. Victoria was once a mining place for which lots of miners and mining workers were brought from all over the world. Now no much miners left. Mostly all educated expatriates with respectable job lives there . The cost of living is higher than Sydney.

Despite the late hour, the mall was full of people shopping for food or clothes.
A strategic shopping mall with Coles and access to the underground train station in the basement and countless fashion clothing and make-up shops.

I loved the building in the shopping centre,we just entered and I saw it and was in shock. They also have an over sized clock that plays a show every hour and chimes every fifteen minutes. But the shops I saw in the mall were not good shops. No Kmart, target or even big w in this massive store I don’t think I overly cared about any store in this shopping centre besides the Lego store.

The Flinders Street Railway Station is a popular Melbourne tourist attraction that was opened in 1909. The station has an iconic yellow facade and is located close to the city centre. The station is home to a number of shops and restaurants, as well as being a stop on the public transport network.
Nice and clean place.
Stand beneath the clocks of Melbourne's iconic railway station, as tourists and Melburnians have done for generations. Take a train for outer-Melbourne explorations, join a tour to learn more about the history of the grand building, or go underneath the station to see the changing exhibitions that line Campbell Arcade.

The Flinders Street Station is one of Melbourne's most iconic landmarks. Tourists and Melburnians alike have stood beneath the clocks of Melbourne's iconic central railway station for generations.
The station is located in the center of Melbourne, next to the Yarra River. The station was last renovated a few years ago.
From here, you can reach most places in Melbourne by public transportation. There are trains running throughout Melbourne. Just outside the station there are also multiple trams that pass by regularly. There are toilet facilities at the station as well.
St Paul's Cathedral provides a good view of the station.

It famously became the very first steam rail station in all of Australia. Currently, Flinders Street railway station is located on the corner of Flinders and Swanston streets in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Opened in 1854, the historic station serves the entire electrified metropolitan rail network, as well as some country services to eastern Victoria. The station has 13 platforms and is approximately 1.25 kilometers from Southern cross station.

I do not really understand people giving this train station such a high reviews. From my perspective, it is a filthy, run-down train station (please see the pictures attached; my apology for the picture of a toilet, I intentionally did not took picture of the whole toilet showing how disgusting it was). Yes, the historical building is nice, however, maintenance and cleanliness is absolutely shocking.
Considering this is one of the busiest and the most famous train station in Melbourne, it is really a shame. The train station has been in renovation for at least 5 years, but I cannot see anything being done. Try to compare it to main train station in other cities, e.g. Singapore, Dubai, Tokyo, etc. It would like comparing Day and Night.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, often referred to simply as the 'G', is one of the world's great sporting venues and home of Australian football and the National Sports Museum. It also serves as a music venue and more. The ground holds 100,000 people and hosts cricket in summer and AFL (Australian rules football) footy in winter.
A magnificent cricket ground! Great atmosphere and facilities. Can easily be accessible by Tram, Train or Car. Lots of parking available during games. Came here to watch the Manchester United Tour games. Very fun experience and huge stadium, not a fan of how far you are from the pitch and that Level 1 seating is quite flat which means anyone standing up will block the view of those behind. Would recommend booking on Level 2.
Easily accessible via public transport, best to take the Metro after games as the tram come infrequently and it’s always packed.

Great stadium for watching AFL football. Only disappointment is the extreme wait when purchasing a beverage or food (up to 25 minutes wait for a drink). Serving crowds in a timely manner should get easier after a century of events hosting over 100,000 people.

The official tour of the MCG was really interesting with lots of facts and anecdotes included by the friendly and knowledgeable guide. I was last at the ground in 1996 and it has now been completely transformed, yet still retains its sense of history and tradition. Definitely worth a visit for any cricket and/or Australian rules football fans; plus the walking options from the city centre include strolling through beautiful parks or along the Yarra riverbank.

I’m American and have only seen two cricket games and yet I still loved the tour. Peter, our guide, did a great job.
The tour lasted 75-mins. It moves quickly so you see everything. There is time to take pictures and our guide took some for everyone as well in certain spots if you wanted them for your group .
You need to be comfortable walking quite a bit and walking quickly. Our group was a reasonable size.
There are lifts and I’m sure they offer special tours for those less ambulatory.

Amazing stadium, but you already know that. View from any seat in the house is amazing and unobstructed. Great food options on site with all the stadium favourites. The MCG and its accompanying museum certainly have a great rich history about them. There's much to see and do, and without being bias, I have to admit I had a good time, despite being a musician by nature and not the sporting type.

Perfect for families and friends alike for a day trip and ideal for any sports fan on a visit to the G. The Shrine of Remembrance commemorates all Australians who have served in wars, as well as those who have lost their lives. The complex has a viewing platform at the top where you can enjoy views of the cityscape. There is also a museum detailing Australias role in the World Wars, which is free to enter.
I've been to the park area and "seen" the Shrine many times living in Melbourne for over 40 years, though this was the first time visiting it properly.
The gallery/museum area has a large range of information and displays from all eras of conflict and peacekeeping with Australians, and there's a central crypt and also access to the balcony with another perspective of the area and surrounds.
The trees around the park each have dedication plaques to the numerous battalions, and a special place for a tree grown from the seed of the Gallipoli Lone Pine.
For those of us lucky enough to be oblivious to war or even conflict, this is definitely a respectful and informative memorial to those that have served and sacrificed everything for our freedom.

Majestic, magnificent, The Shrine of Remembrance is not just a building; it's a profound symbol of reverence, an embodiment of history, and a testament to the indomitable human spirit. As a visitor, I was left awestruck by the sheer magnitude of emotions and respect that this monumental structure evokes.
From the moment I stepped onto the beautifully landscaped grounds, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of solemnity and reflection. The surrounding gardens, meticulously maintained, provide a peaceful setting to contemplate the sacrifices made by countless men and women who served their country. The view of the Melbourne city skyline from the forecourt is breathtaking and serves as a poignant reminder of the contrast between the peaceful present and the turbulent past.
The Shrine itself is a masterpiece of architecture. Its classical design, inspired by ancient Greek and Egyptian styles, exudes grandeur and timelessness. The bronze doors, adorned with poignant quotes and emblems, set the tone for what lies inside. The interior is equally impressive, with its stunning marble floors, towering columns, and the iconic Eternal Flame that never falters, symbolizing eternal remembrance for the fallen.
What makes the Shrine truly exceptional is its educational aspect. The Galleries of Remembrance are a treasure trove of knowledge, meticulously curated to provide a comprehensive understanding of Australia's military history. Interactive exhibits, artifacts, and multimedia displays bring the stories of veterans and their sacrifices to life. It's a place where one can truly connect with the past and gain a deeper appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The staff at the Shrine are dedicated and knowledgeable, always ready to assist visitors and answer questions. Their passion for preserving the memory of those who served is evident, and they play a crucial role in making the experience meaningful.
I highly recommend taking one of the guided tours offered here. The guides are well-versed in history and offer profound insights into the significance of this place. Hearing personal stories of bravery and sacrifice from the guides added a deeply human touch to my visit.

Also, the Now Or Never show was simply astounding!

Beautiful monument dedicated to remembering Australian fallen heroes in war. Night view was impressive due to quietness and no crowds. The constant fire is also solemn. There is a visitor centre to learn more. Great location that is easibly accessible by public transportation next to city centre.

Yes, this is a must see if you are visiting Melbourne, or perhaps you live in Melbourne and not had the chance to visit. A truly iconic place to remember war heroes and also one of the top places for photographers.
Take great photos, videos, panoramas. Walk right up the steps to take great scenery pictures of the CBD.
This place is simple to reach, if you are within tram access, take the tram down St. Kilda road and stop at the Shrine of Remembrance tram stop. I would heartily recommend a visit to this wonderful place.

Very impressive. Entry is free of charge. There is a lot to see and nicely laid out. The atmosphere inside matched the significance of the events that occurred. You can go upstairs to have a nice lookout.
I recommend visiting this when you are in Melbourne.

Always love to visit the Shrine when I'm in the city. Such a beautiful spot to take ok the vista. Well worth attending one of the talks inside and watching the sun pass over the dial. Awesome feat of architecture and a great place to take it all in. The view from the top is well worth it.

This is a sobering building documenting Victoria's participation in the numerous conflicts around the world, and serves as a reminder of the horrors of war. A place deserving of respect and built to reflect this, it was quite an unforgettable experience as you venture through the galleries, gradually making your way up to the balcony.
If you're a history buff, this is a must visit place, though it may not be entirely suitable for children. There's also a balcony at the top offering a scenic view of the city and the gardens nearby. Entrance to the place is free, but visitors are free to make a donation as they deem suitable.

This place is really cool. I enjoyed the rich history of the museum and the great view from the top. Most of all, it’s free!
I would encourage visitors to enter and look around. Australia’s involvement in the past wars is detailed extensively by the museum. They honor them in this shrine for their contributions. (The crypt area gave me the shivers.)

Here’s a timeline to help you plan a dawn service visit next year.
Arrived for the dawn service around 5am and there was already so many people there. Roads were closed. There were two big screens playing from before we arrived providing everyone at the top a view regardless of their vantage point but there seemed so many more people down the sides of the hill too which may have been limited viewing. The Welcome to Country was at 5:30 but the main service was 6. All over by 6:30. They opened the Shrine shortly after and ushered thousands of people through so quickly. We waited to last and was still through by 7:20. We then explored the extensive museum, crypt and surrounds. The museum is next level with knowledgeable passionate people sharing information dotted around the place. It had only very dim lighting and felt like a maze. You would spend hours in here if you wanted to read through and experience everything but we left before 9 for the parade. Note a RAAF plane flyover was at 11 and I also heard they were opening the balcony at 1pm.

Actually, I enjoyed the place more than I had expected. During my studies in Architecture, I worked on a project that involved designing a memorial museum. The main objective of the project was to create a space that would seamlessly connect the past, present, and the hope for the future, which is exactly what I found inside.
On another note, the entire area is huge, green and pretty. The rooftop area offers a splendid view of the downtown and occasionally you can catch a glimpse of an airplane flying by!

Highly recommend for anyone who is interested in history and architecture. Considering entrance is free, this is a must-see experience when coming to Melbourne. Easy to access from public transport. Beautiful views of Melbourne. Architecture that you will be in awe of. History that will make you reflect. You can in the building through the visitors centre and visit all 3 levels.

I stayed for Last post service also. I went the gardens. I recommend to all to go to the shrine of remembrance in Melbourne. It's beautiful. You will learn soooo much & come home ever so grateful with so much love n respect for these great men & women.

It was a serene experience relieving the history of Victorians. Visited on a Sunday morning. The place was quite empty and we also witnessed a military ceremony to pay homage to the fallen in war.
About how to reach: Tram services are available right in front of the place and Botanical Garden is just a walk away.

A beautiful tribute to the Australian Armed Forces. I walk around the shrine daily with my dog, before we walk around the botanical gardens. A peaceful place to watch the sunrise and view the hot air balloon’s that depart from Faulkner Park. Just a stunning shrine from the outside and informative and very interesting museum on the inside.

However if you want to go inside you have to be there before 5pm and buy your tickets.

The Shrine of Remembrance is a truly awe-inspiring place. It is a war memorial that commemorates the sacrifices of all Australians who have served in wars and conflicts. The Shrine is located on a hilltop overlooking Melbourne, and it offers stunning views of the city.
The Shrine is a beautiful building, made of white marble and granite. It is adorned with sculptures, mosaics, and stained glass windows. The interior of the Shrine is equally impressive, with a large Hall of Remembrance, a Sanctuary, and a crypt.
The Hall of Remembrance is the heart of the Shrine. It is a vast space with a high ceiling and stained glass windows that depict scenes from Australian history. The Sanctuary is a smaller space that is used for quiet reflection and prayer. The crypt is home to the Eternal Flame, which burns in memory of all Australians who have died in wars and conflicts.
The Shrine of Remembrance is a place of great significance for Australians. It is a place to remember those who have served their country, and to honor their sacrifices. It is also a place to learn about Australian history and to reflect on the importance of peace.
If you are ever in Melbourne, I highly recommend visiting the Shrine of Remembrance. It is a truly moving experience.
Open every day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is free.
Cashless payment carparking on the streets.

Only been to the outside but it is beautiful.
It feels a bit like a mansion with a huge lawn.
There was a good burning in a pit out front and the architecture, view of the city buildings, and well manicured lawn were all amazing.

I have been to the shrine itself a couple of times as I like to walk around the area but I’ve never been inside.
It was such an amazing and interesting experience to learn about the history of war of Australia. Exploring the shrine is free and there’s audio and video checkpoints that will tell you about the history starting in the 19th century until today. There are quite a few stairs going up to the top of building but you’ll be rewarded with a nice view of Melbourne.
The staff was very friendly and super helpful!

Amazing experience on Anzac day. First time seeing the march which starts in the city and walks to the shrine of remembrance. The amount of people showing respect was so special. Really great to see the younger crowd too. Respect to all the navy, army and airforce

Awesome place (in the true sense of the word) which we couldn't do justice to when we visited. I could easily spend a day in there reading how the Australians selflessly pitched in to help the UK and other allies right at the start of two world wars rather than hanging back as others did. Very moving accounts of sacrifice and heroism and fascinating historical context. I hope you realise how much you were/are appreciated.

The shrine of remembrance offers a wonderful war museum as well as stunning views over the botanic garden. There’s an eternal flame in the WWII forecourt. There’s no entrance fee but a donation is recommended. There’s a gift shop, cafe and restrooms in the visitors center. Street parking only.

St. Kilda beach is one of Melbourne's most popular tourist destinations, with a wide range of activities on offer for visitors including swimming, sunbathing and eating out. The beachfront has recently been redeveloped with improvements such as new cafes and restaurants.
Beautiful, clean, smooth sand beach. There's also a beach for dogs, separated with the main beach, so you can bring your 4 legs friends there without hesitating. Free shower stands are available everywhere. Kids playground is also a plus there.

Nice strolling along the beach. Not the prettiest beach but gives good vibes. Many people fishing along the pier. Lots of people walking their dogs. Some playing beach volley.

Well worth a visit, nice park there as well as beach. As pier was under reconstructions.
Went to see the sunset, did’t see it as cloudy.
Fairy Penguin not seen, as the Penguin viewing platform was under reconstruction at the end of the pier.

St. Kilda Beach captivated me during my visit last summer, leaving me with unforgettable memories. The pristine shoreline and azure waters provided the perfect backdrop for a rejuvenating day out. It's not just a beach; it's an experience. Whether you're soaking up the sun, indulging in water sports, or simply strolling along the promenade, there's something for everyone.
What truly stood out was the sense of community and joy. Families building sandcastles, friends playing beach volleyball, and couples enjoying romantic walks – the beach buzzed with happiness. St. Kilda Beach isn't just a destination; it's a hub of laughter and connection.
Moreover, the abundance of restaurants nearby is a cherry on top. From cozy cafes to gourmet eateries, the culinary options cater to every palate. After a day of fun in the sun, dining by the beachfront adds a touch of magic to the experience.
In conclusion, St. Kilda Beach isn't just a beach; it's a haven of relaxation, fun, and delicious indulgence. Whether you're seeking adventure or simply craving a serene escape, this beach has it all. It's the perfect destination to create cherished memories with loved ones, and I can't wait to return.

St Kilda Beach is known to be the most popular beach in Victoria or Melbourne...you gotta go on a good day when the sun is shining and when the sky is super clear....the water feels like a mirror...the amount of people that go there is absolutely ridiculous nowadays....so many people but highly recommended, really cool beach....

It is a really nice beach close to Melbourne CBD and easily accessed by public transport or car with a lot of paid parking slots along St Kilda Road.
There are a lot of things to do in the area:
- walk along the beach
- sunbathe, swim on sunny days
- visit nearby beautiful gardens
- walk along the pier
- play water sports
If you love penguins, you can walk through the pier, to the St Kilda Penguin area (seem to be temporarily closed now), then you can see some penguins sometimes.

A bit shocked to see so many people here and swimming. The water is dirty and the beach is quite plain - just sand and grass.
But people enjoy playing ball here, sunbathing, and swimming. I also saw some jet skis as well. I personally didn't like it but to each their own.

On Australia Day at St Kilda Beach, the weather is delightful with a gentle breeze and clear skies. Seagulls soar gracefully against the blue sky, while people leisurely engage in activities such as fishing, walking their dogs, and sunbathing.
JQ Z — Google review
St Kilda Beach has a certain undeniable charm. The sand is soft, the water is clear (well, clearer than most city beaches), and there's a real buzz in the air. It's clear why it's such a popular spot.
But, as a visitor, I wouldn't say it's the most relaxing beach experience. It's loud! There are always buskers around, and the hawker stalls add to the general cacophony. Don't get me wrong, the vibe is infectious, but it's not exactly "tranquil."
The beach itself is pretty small, and on a sunny day, it gets absolutely packed. Finding a spot to lay down your towel can be a bit of a mission, and forget about having any personal space.
If you're looking for a lively beach scene, with entertainment and people-watching galore, then St Kilda is fantastic. But if you're after a serene escape to soak up the sun and listen to the waves, there might be better options around.

Love how the guides prioritise the penguin’s safety before anything else. They won’t force them out or rush them to move. You just have to be patient and observe them. Low Head Penguin Tours are great. Their priority is the penguins. And there are always penguins. It is worth the money as the information and guidance from these people are great!
We were there in winter, and we still saw these gorgeous little ones.
Little Penguins – they are so cute! Blue and white bundles of cute!
This time of year there are not a lot come ashore but it doesn’t matter, some still come.
Most of the photos and videos are not that clear – it is nighttime with yellow light from torches. It's not the best for photography. Disregard the clarity and enjoy the cuteness!

The tour ended early (was told it’s from 9pm-10:30pm but our guide ended earlier at 10pm, while the other two groups are still on their tour). They also put us at a spot with only 4-5 penguins passed by, while the other two groups see soo many more (10-20 penguins or even more). I don’t know based on what they assign us to different groups but we feel our tour experience is not as good as expected.

The Makers' UTAS, located in Burnie, Tasmania, is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and those interested in traditional crafts. They also have an area where you can hold a seahorse if you wish. They also have some other interesting fishes you can look at. The gift shop is also good and reasonably priced. The entry tickets were also very well priced. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Seahorse World & the Southern Ocean Aquarium is located at Beauty Point in West Tamar, not far from Beaconsfield, Tasmania.
It is positioned in a stunning location on the west bank of the Tamar River and located on a wharf.
We were not sure of what to expect, and what we got was better than we thought. It is definitely different and quite interesting. They are delightful creatures, and I could watch them for ages. Their antics are quite funny.
The guided tour is 45 minutes. It is probably worth checking ahead to both book, and find out the time of the tour. Their gift shop is quite extensive but more importantly they sell Anvers Chocolate there.
If you are in West Tamar, definitely pop in and see both Seahorse World and Platypus House as they are on the same docks at Beauty Point. Beaconsfield Mine Museum is just down the road, too. We did both Seahorse World & Platypus House in one visit.

Not just a tourist attraction, but a real working seahorse farm... absolutely fascinating.

We had a great time at Seahorse world. The tour guide was really nice and super knowledgeable. So many seahorses and other cool sea creatures too. The displays look awesome as well.
All the animals are happy, healthy and thriving. It's nice to see such a passionate tourguide telling us all about the seahorses!
The only thing that was a bit off putting was one of the staff members when we arrived. We had a tour booked for 10am and we were tracking well to arrive at 9:45 but unfortunately our little almost 2 year old was carsick on the way. This meant we had to stop, help her etc before getting there at 10:05. When I said we were here for the tour the guy just said "well you're late" in such a scowling way with lots of attitude. I explained what happened, not that I should have to because it's on me if I miss some of the tour, and we joined the tour to see we didn't miss much at all.
It was unnecessary and thankfully the rest of the tour was awesome because that definitely wasn't a nice way to start the visit.

Very interesting display to visit when in Beauty Point Tasmania. Get up close and personal with Seahorses and other sea creatures. The tour was great and the guide explained the whole breeding process very well. They have an excellent souvenir shop as well with a great range of items to peruse and purchase.

Very informative place, good for children ages 7 and up. Real young kids will find it hard to stay focused during the tour. They need more hands on activities for kids. We had a good time though and well worth the money. You have to go on the tour so make sure you find out the times they are going or there is a 30min wait until the next one.
kyle stratton — Google review
Seahorse World is informative and obviously very skilled at their breeding program as there were thousands of seahorses. Seeing so many in one tank was an odd experience and changed the way I see these fish. Being able to hold them though was novel and we enjoyed seeing the other fish too.
Website booking system doesn’t match their tour times and we had to wait for a tour, even though we turned up on time.

What an amazing experience, I can’t believe I got to hold a sea horse. Great tour and excellent displays. Definitely a great place to visit.
Jacinta Dzioba (Jazz) — Google review
My wife and I visited here and were simply fascinated by the displays. Our guide was a fountain of knowledge. This would be great for families. There are literally thousands of seahorses to see, from tiny babies up to large adults, and in a range of colours and varieties.
One of the highlights of the tour is where you can actually cradle a seahorse in your hand and pose for a photo.
This experience exceeded our expectations. And its right next door to Platypus World.
Graham Brown — Google review
We came as a family of 4, the tour guide was okay for the 45min tour on the hour. They had a great range of seahorses but breed the "potbelly" which is local to the waters and showed you steps from breeding to export. At no stage were we offered to hold a seahorse like others had previously in their reviews. There was also a couple of other tanks with fish and sharks, and the "Weedy Seadragons", now they are stunning creatures.
Gift shop was great with gift shop pricing. My only small issue is the price of entry. At $24 per adult was a bit rich and should realistically be around the $17 mark.
Did I enjoy it...yes
Would I recommend...yes but note about entry price.

This was fantastic! Tours run every hour for approx 45 minutes, allow an hour for questions and further Seahorse watching. Our tourguide was very passionate and knowledgeable, there was nothing he couldn't answer. If you are doing platypus house (you should), take time to browse shop and have a hot drink so you don't have to rush between buildings.
You should book in advance as spots on tours are limited.

An amazing experience, thank you James for answering all our questions.
Where else can you see so many beautiful Seahorses and have chance to hold one.
A must visit to learn about Seahorses breeding and intelligence!!!
Richard Jagger — Google review
Agree with other comments, definitely a Seahorse Farm and some questionable ethical issues. My partner and I were really excited having heard about Seahorse World from friends, so made the effort to check it out on our short trip to Launceston but unfortunately both left feeling deflated.
The guides and staff were friendly and facilities fine, but the lack of conservation message is very apparent. And there’s also a clear lack of what sustainable / responsible aquarium pet ownership is. Should just anyone be allowed to own a seahorse?
The tank features with plastic netting and rope seems way off base considering the global marine plastic pollution crisis, might be sending the wrong message.
If you are a lover of ocean creatures and don’t support captive breeding for profit, this place isn’t for you.

We absolutely LOVED this tour. Such an incredible story, heaps of new facts learned and beautiful seahorses. The kids loved the interactive nature, and their highlight was definitely holding the seahorses and hermit crabs. I never caught our tour guides name but with her beautiful fluro orange hair, she fit in perfectly to the surroundings 😊
Platypus House, located at Beauty Point on the Tamar River in Tasmania, is a unique attraction that showcases the world's only two monotremes - the platypus and the echidna. Visitors can observe these fascinating creatures up close in their natural habitat. The house offers guided tours where guests can learn about these animals' distinctive features and behaviors.
A simple drop by and visit that turned into one of the highlights of our trip. Definitely a winner if you or the family love animals. And don’t let the name fool you, it has both platypus and echidnas. Other reviews already talk about the general overview of the place and format but my pro tip - make sure to book in advance the tour prior to going or at least go and book it before looking at other attractions in the area. There is also another attraction next door (Seahorses) so if you time your tours you won’t waste time waiting around like a lot of others who we saw. Also the real highlight is having the echidnas real up close and personal so make sure you have your cameras ready as it’s one of the more unique moments.

Dave Gerrard — Google review
Located right next door to Seahorse World it's so convenient to get to.
We weren't sure if we're going to going to go inside and even see a platypus, as they are such secretive creatures, so we didn't want to get our hopes up too much. But, we were blown away to go inside the exhibit and see multiple platypus actively swimming around, and our guide giving a really interesting and informative talk whilst feeding them. The little guys were so active it was crazy!
The design of their main tank is so well done, so kids can easily see through the walls of the tank or walk up a ramp so they can look down on the tank.
It's so good when operators really do think of their customers and get things right, and these guys have! 10/10
Once the platypus part of the tour is over we were led into another bushland settin/themed room for the echidna presentation, which was VERY interactive!
Three echidna were allowed to roam free amongst us whilst we sat on the ground or seat or rock in a circle while our awesome guide, Hosanna, fed them. The echidna were so curious and friendly and literally walked all around and in between us.
It was a wonderful experience.
We highly recommend this tour!

Platypus House was amazing. We watched a great 15-minute doco on the platypus and then went on a 45-minute guided tour. LOVED IT
Platypus House is located at Beauty Point on the Tamar River, quite close to Beaconsfield, Tasmania.
It is a house of monotremes - Platypus & Echidna.
· Both animals have hips that are backwards. Therefore, their back feet face backwards.
· They are mammals that lay eggs and nurse their young with milk.
· They both have hair (the echidna has hair as well as spines).
· Both species have spurs on their back ankle region. The spurs are not functional in echidnas. The female platypus is the same, and most often, it will fall off. But the male platypus can inject venom from its’ spurs, but it will only do so if you try to handle it.
· Their babies are called puggles.
On our tour, we met Jupiter, a male platypus. What a show off! He was amazing.
We then met the females. Dawn, Jupiter’s mate, was having a private sleep. But Pumpkin, Poppy & Freya were more than entertaining.
The echidnas were equally entertaining and thoroughly delightful. Thomas, Edwina & Eddie walked all around us while we were sitting on the floor. They are quite comical and inquisitive.
I would do this tour again in a heartbeat. It was so much fun and so very interesting.
We did both Platypus House and Seahorse World on the same day as they are at the same location. Both run a 45-minute tour, so it is best to pre-book and know your times to coordinate the two. Personally, we snagged it, but it could have gone horribly wrong.

Maddie, our guide was just superb; a very knowledgeable professional who made it an enjoyable and educational experience. No, you will not handle any animal, but you'll be up close. I'd definitely recommend a visit.
Worth knowing that tours are on the hour, we grabbed a coffee and a bite while we waited.

I had never seen a platypus in real life before, so it was a very fun experience, the echidnas were also so beautiful. This location is very aware of the respect and conservation of the species. It was so exciting to see a platypus! They give an informative tour and you have time to view the platypuses in action, swimming in their pools. As an added bonus, they have a room with three echidnas that are roaming around and will go right around your feet. So cute and adorable.

What a fantastic place! The platypus are absolutely gorgeous. The enclosures are really fantastic and each animal is well cared for. The Echidnas were a huge highlight. A fantastic up close and personal experience with these total cutie pies.
There was also a very impressive taxidermy collection too! Absolutely recommend this place.
The tour guide Maddie was .... However the way she presented the information was a bit condescending. She sounded like she was reading off a teleprompter with timed jokes that fell flat and didn't match her seriousness. Her answers to everyone's questions kind of made it seem like people were stupid for asking them because she's the expert.
Checking in, parking car and locating cabin was all a simple process, Staff and passengers were all friendly.
Being on the ship felt like being in a moving car. Eventually, walking around became challenging, funny and almost difficult to balance. Lots of rails to hold on too🤪
Motorcycle video games on ship... were extra fun😁
Was blessed with a cabin in the middle of ship, so I slept comfortably and peacefully unlike some others😬
Extremely windy whist on deck, making it hard to take clear pics😏
Pets welcomed on board, but are caged and no access to visiting is permitted☹
Definitely will experience this kind of travelling again😁 thanks to all staff who were on board 19-12-21🤗 awesome experience

Good service, people on board are very nice and helpful. Seats are pretty comfy although after so many hours you start needing a change of position and would love to lay down or something, I guess booking the recliners could be a good option but still 100% doable without them, specially if you are on a budget and want to save that money.
Food on board is pretty cheap ($12 pizza, $4,5 coffee, $7,5 burger)

The ship is fine. The amenities aren't bad and the restaurants and bars are ok.
What really subtracted from the experience is that there is no support for public transportation at either of the two ports. You have to walk very long distances with your luggage on both sides. If you don't come with a car, rather fly or find alternative transportation.

We had a day sailing from Devonport to Melbourne. The boarding was very late and ship departed late as well. Food wasn't great on deck 10 and pizza was horrible. It was fully crowded due to holiday season. There was shotage of staff and existing staff were trying their level best to do everything they can. Cleaning can be improved further. We got some chairs at different places. More comfy seating facility can be provided. Eventhough we tried to book recliners they were not available. It reached Melbourne on time and disembarking was fine.

My second trip on the cruise and quite enjoyable if you're travelling daytime. Easy directions and hasslefree check in and parking on the decks. Check ind open 2.5 hours before and closes 45mins before the departure time. Restaurants are good with reasonable menus, 29 AUD for an adult if you use buffet. Also there's separate shop where you could buy hot pastries and cold sandwiches with drinks. Ample space for dining. Excellent customer service throughout. Recliner lounge chairs are quite reasonable and you can book them for free, better than staying on other lounge areas. I've travelled in cabins before but I'd prefer recliner lounge given its comfort and convenience.

The experience is great if you lower your expectations. It's not a cruise. It's a ferry with accommodation. You need to pay for almost everything especially food and entertainment inside the ferry. It's comfortable but the price could be lower though. Paid more than $1,700 for 2 people + 1 baby and normal car for return ticket. It's after a $500 government subsidy. The terminal in Geelong is new so there are a lot of amenities. Do not come too early. It will be more enjoyable if you come 90 minutes before boarding so you don't have to wait too long.

Enjoyable experience on the Spirit. From Geelong we did night sailing so had a cabin. Bed was so uncomfortable. Hard as a rock. No sleep. Coming back we had a day sailing so we just found a comfortable spot and settled down for the 10 hour trip. Went to cinema passed a few hours. We got breakfast after we boarded from the buffet part the Tasmanian kitchen I think it is. Steer clear of the egg and bacon rolls they are as hard as a rock also. I didn't eat the roll. Didn't want to break a tooth. But otherwise all good.

We have been coming across to Tasmania since 2017, we flew once and it was a horrible flight 🤢, we then decided to try the Spirit and it was nicer, we eventually upgraded to a cabin which I highly recommend for the price, much better in a rough ride, not hearing and seeing other people throw up🤮🤢. We unfortunately did the trip where there was 12 foot waves and that was terrible 😢🤮🤢🤕🥴, fortunately we don’t have many of those and we feel much more relaxed when we get off at the other end. If the Spirit people are reading this, please please please 🙏🏻 do scones with jam and cream every sail, we only had it once and it was amazing as an afternoon treat, the food onboard isn’t anything exciting but scones was 😂🤣😅

Staff on board were so very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Cabins are very comfy, you can set your cabin temperature. Bathrooms in the cabin are a good size and the showers have good water pressure. Lots of interesting things to do, eat, and drink, plus a kiddie play area too. Located in Latrobe, Tasmania, the House of Anvers is a renowned family-owned chocolate factory that has been producing gourmet Belgian chocolates since 1989. Visitors can explore the museum and tasting center for free and even take a tour of the factory to witness over 2,500 varieties of chocolate being made. The founder, Igor Van Gerwen, takes pride in using the finest ingredients such as Tasmanian cream to create rich and flavorful chocolates.
The best hot chocolate I've tried in a long time. The chili and spice hot chocolate as well as the mint was really nice. The spice hits you then the chili then the chocolate. The flavours are just right and none was over powering the other. Best part is it is not too sweet like others. The mint had a great balance as well. The Eggs benny was good too. The ham with it was delicious. I would have preferred a little bit more moisture and runnier egg.
The staff were great and very friendly. Heaps of parking including for caravans. Easy to get to and find along the main road.
Both the inside and outside seating was homey and pleasant. Highly recommended and would definitely go back.

Open Steak Sandwich: very nice, well cooked. The red wine and mushroom sauce was particularly nice. The cheese on top was unusual but didn't detract from the meal. The flavors were well balanced.
Belgium Waffle (with lemon curd): one of the better waffles I've had recently. It's common for waffles to be served with too little sauce or other accompaniment, not the case here with more than enough lemon curd to cover both waffles. Every element of this meal was quite pleasant, the waffles were soft. The serving size was quite generous.
Cappuccino: unusually creamy but a nice flavor. Not as bitter as I'm used to but a nice change nevertheless.
Verdict: overall a good time, I'd go here again and I'd recommend the above. Slightly disappointed that they had sold out of a couple of menu items we wanted to order, in particular the "Ultimate Anvers Taste Sensation", their dessert tasting board.

First impressions, atmosphere, service and quality are all part of the experience. Let’s begin….
The interesting historic old building attracts your interest straight up, with the antique museum and chocolate making viewing window there to offer an insight into modern and past practices.
The main entrance on our arrival was congested with other patrons, and the plastic doorway strips/ curtain that had to be pushed through kind of defeated the Covid sanitation measures that were requested upon entry.
Although no tables were available for a dine in experience, the friendly waitress offered a take away option which we accepted, whilst admiring numerous empty tables without a reservation label to say otherwise.
The turkey & cranberry toasted sandwich was good (but would have been fantastic if it were hot). We had to go searching for it as it seemed to have gone missing in action (left on the front counter for all the staff to see). The coffee & hot chocolate was delivered 10 minutes earlier to the location we were kindly asked to wait.
As I am sure you would understand, I enjoy my coffee. The coffee here was less than drinkable & made its way to the bin, the hot chocolate however was yummy & chocolatey.
Not the best experience overall, sorry only 2 stars, 1 for the lovely sandwich the other for the lovely & yummy selection of free Anvers chocolates that we got with our takeaway drinks……

Situated about a 10min drive out of Devonport, on the Bass Highway, is this delightful little chocolate factory. It has plenty of off road parking, including caravan and RV parking, with a kids playground.
Housed inside a restored 1920s art deco bungalow, Wyndarra Lodge, is a combination cafe/choclate factory/museum. The cafe at the front of the bungalow, is homely and feeds like sitting in a federation style sitting room. The kitchen is only open until 3pm but you can enjoy coffee, tea and hot chocolate with a selection of cakes until 5pm. We enjoyed a nice cup of their chilli & spice hot chocolate and cinnamon hot chocolate for afternoon tea. The museum is really just a series of display boards, chocolate moulds and historical advertising, giving you the history of chocolate and the history of the Anvers family’s chocolate making in Tasmania.
It is fascinating to watch the chocolatiers through the glass windows hard at work making all the different types of chocolate.
The chocolate shop is located separately from the main building. They do provide samples in small white paper bags, very COVID precautionary. The chocolate on sale is relatively pricey compared to mass produced chocolate but it is all handmade traditional chocolate. We bought some of their Belgium truffle chocolate, which was melt in your mouth delicious. Worth making the stop if you’re driving through the Latrobe area.

Shout out to the friendly and accomodating young staffs. Thanks for the great service.
We arrived during the peak lunch time and attended immediately.
We had the chocolate cake, which was rich, sweetly balanced and delicious. The chicken and cranberry toasted sandwich was generously stacked up with 3 slices of bread and lots of fillings. Can't leave without an iced chocolate, which was not overpowering with sweetness and rich with chocolate. Lastly, 500ml of the Black Inca beer by the Seven Shed makes it a great feast.

Good history but disappointing no chocolate making to be seen, maybe times of viewing could be advertised. The history of the building was interesting. Chocolate shop had a good variety but expensive . Small sample bags of choc buddies were avail.
A magical shop that could easily be a set for a movie!
A friend told me I had to go with her and we took the trip to Latrobe. I had no idea what I was about to enter until opening the door.
There are giant sized animals, human sized kings, secret doors into other magical worlds, a tardis that opens to massive dinosaurs, a full Alice in Wonderland experience, and even a cafe!
I completely lost time while we were in there and immersed into the experience of awe and wonder. Left with a mini magnetic chess set for my oldest son with a beverage to go from the cafe.
Now that I know it exists and the vast array of inventory that they have on offer, all of the unique homeware, gifts, and delights, I will definitely return and more than likely, with my family next time.

Obsessed with this shop. It‘s such a wonderland and everyone will be be able to find something here. The coffee and cookies are the perfect addition and the disco toilet is the cherry on top 🪩

They have a great range of products for kids and adults. What makes them stand out from other stores like this is their immersive experiences, the themes are done really well and you can spend quite a bit of time in this shop. Overall a fun experience.

What a wonderful shop. We go every time we are in Latrobe. We also placed an order (to Melbourne) and the product arrived so so quick. It was so well packed.. The staff are absolutely amazing. The coffee and fudge alone make this amazing place worth the visit..

Another recommendation from wonderful locals. The best toys and luxury homewears, as well as fun immersive experiences in Alice and Wonderland, Jurassic Park and a really creepy room for horror buffs (don't be tempted to take your kids in there, it is creepy!). Yummy hit chocolate in the back cafe too. A stunning store, and a must see!

What an amazing shop. Hadn’t heard about it and stumbled on it quite by accident. Spent an hour just wandering through and exploring all the cool little corners and displays. Well worth a visit.

It was the most magical shop! A little bit pricy, but it is understandable. They had some amazing secret rooms, like an Alice in wonderland one, a Jurassic park one, a hobbit hole, a space one, and a super creepy one with horror movie things, like "Annabelle" and possessed creatures. I greatly recommend! Amazing experience. There was also a large part with amazing kids toys and dresses etc. ❤❤

What an amazing shop. It takes pride of place in the main street of Latrobe, and even before you enter, you know you are in for a treat.
From the get-go, I had no idea of where to look next - it was definitely sensory overload. But I was there to find the ‘rabbit hole’ that Alice fell down. And there it was. Even the Queen of Hearts was there.
But suddenly I’m faced with E.T. and C3PO. But wait, not just one Santa & Mrs Claus but hundreds. By now you’re in love with Christmas again and around the corner are Dragons and Knights.
Oh wait, there’s an African zoo collection. Right about now, I think I can’t be amazed anymore, and out pops a dinosaur or three. Ooh there’s a beautiful teapot from Beauty and the Beast. I feel like I’m still spiralling down Alice’s tunnel.
OMG, you just have to stop at Latrobe and get your butt into this place. It is absolutely amazing. This shop is like nothing I have ever seen, a veritable cornucopia of every imaginable child hood dreamtime character and more.
My purchase - a bag of freeze dried ice-cream. WOW, that stuff is awesome!

It's hard to say everything you could buy here but illtrt for some... toys, games, disney happy potter, world of war craft, candles, clothes, Christmas, horror, wine, Whiskey, homewears, swords, pop vinyl, statues, fair garden stuff, dinasaurs, puzzles, metal house stuff.

Stopped here for an overnight camp during a through hike. The coffee at the cafe is good and the food is fantastic. Worth a drive in itself. The campground by the river is a beautiful spot. The staff were all very friendly. Next time we'll visit the zoo proper and stay a few nights so we can explore the surrounding area.

We recently visited Wing Wildlife Park after a recommendation from a friend, and boy are we glad we did!
Although a little out of the way compared to some tourist attractions, it is well worth the drive.
From the super friendly staff at all levels (chef, reception, keepers etc), to a fantastic range of animals. The park is large and well spread out. You could easily spend more than a day enjoying it.
We especially loved our Devil Encounter.
My only regret is not doing the highland cow encounter.

It was a great place to visit. A cross between a zoo and a wildlife rescue centre. The staff were happy, friendly, and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The food in the café was excellent too.

More animals than I expected, and quite a varied collection too. A variety that we're not Australian, but still interesting. It was possible to get quite close to many of them, particularly the kangaroos, and the park was easy to get around even if mobility is limited. Good selection of ice cream in the cafe too to cool down afterwards. A decent experience all in all.

Very interesting place. The lady at reception was very enthusiastic and all other staff i saw were extremely happy and helpful. A great experience feeding fish and kangaroos. Was also great to walk through the farm area. The drive down was scenic and beautiful, I have rarely seen such amazing scenery. There are a few single lane roads, so be careful driving if its dusk. Many animals are rescues and it is such a wonderful thing to see them being taken care of.

This is a small family owned wildlife park featuring animals native to Tasmania and Australia. The animals are all there because they can’t be reintroduced to the wild for various reasons. It’s small enough to be easily walkable, the animals are easy to spot and there’s a petting area with farm animals for the littles plus you can feed and pet the kangaroos (visitors are warned to approach from the front - do monitor children). For an additional fee you can reserve a time to get up close and personal with the koala, the wombat and the Tasmanian devil. There’s a nice little gift shop and cafe at the front for coffee or ice cream. Free public restrooms near the parking lot.

I enjoyed this a lot. The Tassie Devils were very active and you can see the animals are well cared for.

This was such a cool experience. We had the place to ourselves for the most part when we were there. All of the animals were awake and moving unlike at zoos - and they all seemed so comfortable and happy. I would highly recommend spending 3 hours to see it all and plan to watch the devils eat. It is grossly fascinating! Plus being able to talk amongst the kangaroos and wallaby’s was super cool.

Fantastic family run business.
We had Ben and he was great.
Exceptional people skills. His parents should be so proud of him.
He was well educated on everything in the caves.
He was funny and easy to listen too.

Steep steps down leads to quite an extensive network of paths allowing one to appreciate good examples of typical cave formations such as shawls straws, wedding cake, glow worms. Good value with an amusing tour guide with lots of ‘Dad jokes’.

Spectacular. Highly recommended.
Entry is by guided tour only and is great value, $50 for a family with 2 or more kids.
The guide is very knowledgeable and entertaining, you can tell he enjoys taking people in every time.
After entering the cave down 54 stairs, the path is pretty easy going with a few more stairs here and there and a short ladder at one point that can be bypassed if need be. Our 4 year old walked the whole tour without any problems.

Awesome tour - when you can catch Miss 13s interest you know you are on a winner! Part Natural History, part comedy - Geoff is a GEM imparting his passion for the place. Full of surprises and beauty! Note that guided tours are the entry times - not a wander at will place but the guided tour adds so much more value
Veronica Hausknecht — Google review
These are some seriously cool caves. If you’re lucky you might spot a giant dinner plate sized spider native to the caves. That said, access is difficult - the entrance features 50+ steep stairs to descend (and reascend at the end of the tour) and the tour requires descending a ladder as well as dodging stalactites and squeezing through narrow passages. The tour itself is made fun and interesting by the guide and the caverns feature many interesting formations, a cathedral chamber with astonishing acoustics and a room full of glow worms (no photos without a license which must be purchased far in advance). There’s a cute little gift shop at the entrance and clean restrooms.

Was wanting to see a cave in Tasmania and found this place online, Gunns plains caves is a must see place, it’s hidden away just a short drive from Ulverstone. We arrived at the gate and was a short wait till we met our guide Geoff and he is a brilliant funny and exciting person to take us for the tour. Lots of different sites to see underground we we’re definitely not left disappointed.

Always a great pleasure to bring tourists here and I always join them for a tour. I don't think the cave changes much, but each time it impresses me enormously. Well worth the visit and great knowing your money stays 100% local!

Beautiful cave with many interesting structures. Price is 19 per adult or 15 for concessions. Trish and Geoff ran the tour, and they were very friendly and humorous with their commentary. Trish was our guide, and her guidance has that kind of a school tour vibe, with extra jokes (prepare your sense of humor, so that you can joke as well, not getting triggered like the low rating reviews here). The tour itself is a good exercise for you, with an hour of walking around. Free stamping and few souvenirs are available too!

If you can handle all the lame dad jokes from the guide, you'll have a blast. A quick little tour with a great view of caves, stalactites and stalagmites, and other sedimentary wonders. The glow worms were very cool to see.

What a brilliant find. Staff are proper nice, and super friendly and knowledgeable - shout to Matt and Trish who fitted us in on our own private tour. $55 for a family of 4. The guide was funny and we loved seeing the glow worms at the very end. We didn’t expect it to be so bright.
It only has 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that there was too many people on the tour with us.
Did call in the morning to book in the afternoon no problem.

Bring your Imagination and enjoy a tour through a quiet uncommercialised cave system that is truly unique. Set in a beautiful valley that's best viewed by driving along the B17 route from Penguin. Geoff's experience in caving is astounding as he points out beautiful limestone features in a cave that once was near flooded in 1929. A nice added attraction is the glow worms.
Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door is a must-visit destination for cheese lovers in Tasmania. This cheese farm offers an array of unique cheese flavors, such as Wild Wasabi, Bush Pepper, and Lavender. Visitors can witness the cheese making process through window viewing areas and learn about the history of the farm through audiovisual presentations. The retail space at Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door is impressive with plenty of items to purchase.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ashgrove Cheese Dairy Door. They provide lots of information on how their different cheeses are made and matured, lots of fun facts and ‘dad jokes’, and most importantly how they care for their dairy cows - it’s great to see a business who cares so much about their animals. Oh … I forgot to mention their cheese is divine! I’ll be looking for their cheeses when I get home.

First time visiting a cheese Factory. They opened this place for public last year. There are plenty of parking outside. 100 metres away from main highway. There are seating outside. The are and facility are well maintained. There is a history about this place and carry years of tradition in making cheese. They also depicts the process of making through images and illustration. You can view the cheese making process through the glass window. They have cheese tasting section and you can buy crackers and cheese. Also they sell variety of good ice creams. They have cheese shop as well and you can buy variety of delicious cheese which are sourced and processed locally. You can also see the cheese storage area through the glass. Entry is FREE. Worth going to this place if you are are visiting Davenport.

We were lucky enough to have someone at our lodge in cradle Mountain. Recommend we stop off at this place on our way back from Launceston.
We were tempted by everything but bought some snacks and specialties to either take home as gifts or nibble-on while we went and decided to have some ice cream before we left even though it was 9:30 in the morning.
It was one of the best decisions we've ever made! I had the lemon poppy seed ice cream. My best friend had the chocolate cream which was just the perfect blend of bitter chocolate and we can't recommend this place strongly enough! Even on a bank holiday. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful!

If you are a cheese lover then this is the place for you. There is a little section that educates you on how cheese is made and a little
About the cows in the region. There is a section that shows how the cheese is made and storage and a typical tourist shop to buy all the usual. They have obviously cheese of many varieties and milk as well, as well as some cooking ingredients. The best part was the cafeteria that do amazing coffee and toasties. We got there fairly early so felt it was too early to have ice cream but there was definitely some temptation there.

Four stars but I love cheese. We got one of their cheese platters and two glasses of wine - $58 I think. Enough cheese, crackers, relish, bread, fruit and nuts to satisfy us and a good cross section of their product. Different platters offer different mixes of cheese or you can choose what you like. Not a lot else to see other than through the glass at their workings or at the stacked cheese rounds except for the gift shop which sells nic nacs, cheese, wine, etc. You can also purchase various icy confections if you don't like cheese.

Lovely place to stop and get some food or have a brake from the car. Good food, nice staff. Sweet play space for the kids, well priced, and some educational information. 🐮Ashgrove cheese is delicious in six different varieties. Each has its own flavor and character. 😋I like Wasabi cheese and MT Roland cheese best. ✨The indoor environment is very clean. In addition to eating cheese, this place is also educational so that you can have a deeper understanding of cheese. And Ashgrove's story history is interesting! If you like cheese, you can visit here! Visit and taste about 1.5 hours!

A fantastic venue for tasting local Tasmanian cheese and stopping between Launceston and Devonport for coffee or a meal. We came here twice, firstly for a cheese platter, and second time for breakfast. Both were enjoyable experiences in a clean and friendly environment. The cheese selections were diverse and tasty, and affordable at $12. The toasties are amazing, with sourdough bread and delicious melted cheese. There's a well-equipped shop with a wide range of cheese, snacks and condiments to choose from.

Ashgrove Cheese has a great dairy door - cafe, cheese making, shop, and facilities. There is a reasonable sized parking lot big enough for caravans to turn around and park. It is on the Bass highway and is worth the stop.
I love Ashgrove cheese, so I made it my mission to visit their business. WOW, what a great setup. Love the cow statues, the information about their background and cheese making, but I love their cheese the most. And, yes, we definitely bought more than we needed ;-)

Staffs there are friendly and helpful. Ice cream doesn't have much favorite in it but is super creamy. Highly recommend cheese fondue and the cheese platters. Anything with cheese will pretty much does it.
Only down side there is not much to see at the factory (windows display) and the light reflection is very strong so you see yourself most of the time.
They also cheese and milk there. Can grab a few things before heading off. Bring some ice pack or cold bag if you travel in longer distance. I wish I had.
Is definitely worth the visit if you like cheese and creamy ice cream.

Great location for a break/stopover driving through the Northwest trail.
Informative, spacious and able to see the cheeses behind the scenes is wonderful.
Good gift and cheese shop but wish the samples given/provided be given a little more effort. Example, leave the samples in a cool section and not given ?crushed, put cubes instead.
Toastie was great but slightly overpriced. 18$ for a ham and cheese is a bit hefty.

Just visited the upgraded cheese factory. I really like the modern style. There are so many viewing stations where you can see the cheese being made and see the enormous storage rooms with rounds of cheese aging. There is an area where kids can play. They also sell big bags of off cuts of the cheese for a reduced price. $18 for a kilo to be exact. There are lots of locally produced food items to purchase and on tap milk. The only downside is they just do a single cheese sample whereas they used to have a heap available to try.

Great interactive displays for the kids, and interesting educational displays and showroom. The potato salad was different than what I'd expected but still tasty. Great place, great history, nice and light hearted, good jokes!! Cheese tasting plate for $12 was super plain and potentially pricey but we did end up buying 3 of three 6 on the tasting plate. The nachos were not nice. The salsa had hardly no tomatoes or salsa so it was just a bean and corn dry mix. Pea guacamole and the cheese sauce was weird. I'd stay clear of that however the plain cheese toasty is anything from plain and was so delicious!!
Highly recommend 👌
Funky attraction featuring 8 outdoor garden mazes & a whimsical, 1/5th-scale model village.
I really enjoy this place. We were prompted to go her after watching the travel guides. Entry was simple, there is no need to prebook. The mazes are good fun with plenty of activities especially for the kids. There are plenty of signs with witty remarks on them. A lot of work was put into designing the mazes and the miniature village. It is out of the way but we merged it with a trip to Cradle Mountain so it worked well. There is plenty of parking and the gift shop is interesting. It is a pity the founder has passed because we would really have loved to meet him. His quirkiness is evident throughout the site including the witty signs but also in the Tasmazia miniature embassies and township. I particularly liked the Iceland, Poland and the made up Embassies. There is a cafe on site but unfortunately it was closed the day we were there. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

We went 20yrs ago and compare to now, they kept the place really well. It's a pity that the lavender farm do not have any more flowers. The mazes trimmed beautifully. There's few mazes for different age group to explore and lose yourself in this magical experience.

Our family had a fun day at Tasmazia recently. This was our second time visiting, our boys 7&10 enjoyed it the first time and requested it on next trip to Tasmania. The staff are very friendly, the mazes were lots of fun and the little houses are very cool. I noticed that QR codes have been added to many of the little houses and tell a short story of the house. We all found that very interesting.
The only downside was that the menu has been scaled back, not as many lunch options. I had a delicious sweetcorn and chicken soup with warm damper.
We will definitely be back 😊

Lots of things to see. I especially liked their embassy garden. Most of their mazes are reasonably easy. Hampton Court was the only one we didn't conquer. Nice location, sign posted from Sheffield. None of us enjoyed the food. None of my group would recommend their pancakes. Whether we picked the wrong day.

Went on a cold winter day less than 10C. Bit chilly but did enjoy our hour there. Even though we spent almost an hour driving there. The maze were good fun, the jokes were a nice touch. Lots of good things to see. Our 2yo didn't understand much of it but still had a good time exploring. We saw lots of wallaby in the maze, that was fun! No lavender as well, maybe due to season. But the view there were breathtaking. Not much around, we went to Sheffield for lunch afterwards.

It was surprisingly good, like a lot better than I expected, my 8yo had a blast in the mazes, we got lost multiple times and my suggestion is got to the toilet before you enter as trying to get out of a maze when you need a toilet is not cool. Food was very quick a reasonable, all staff were lovely

This was such a fun experience (which was unexpected as 2 adults)! The detail included in the paint work is incredible, and we very much enjoyed having a chuckle at the audio clips attached to each of the village houses. Wish we could have spent more time here (but do keep in mind the jokes and houses were conceptualised by a boomer who seems to be a bit religious, so they aren’t very PC- but hey isn’t that the charm of things like this?).
WAY better than Canberra’s Cockington green

Absolutely enjoyable for both adults and kids! The best maze complex we have been to, as there is plenty to see and funny things to discover along the way. The larger mazes were quite challenging but didn’t feel ‘trapped’ as there were jokes along the way to keep us entertained. Was also delighted to see a few pademelons along the way.
The Village of Lower crackpot and Embassy Gardens were quirky and entertaining to explore. A lot of thought has gone into creating each exhibit. We had a lot of fun, both young and old. There are also great views of Mt Roland from the ‘Village’. The lavender farm was lovely but only small.
Many areas are sunny so be prepared with sun protection. To enjoy the maze, one needs to have enough time.

We went here in July 2021, great place to take the kids, we had lots of fun.
I would give 5 stars but the employee seemed a bit dishonest
Before leaving I place a bar of lavender soap on the counter, the employee moved it to the cash register as he rang it up and left it there, I had to reach over to pick it up, not sure whether he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing or was trying to see if I forget about the soap like I did with the book. Just odd that he didn’t place the soap back on the counter once paid.
And He kept the let’s go kids book that I had when I first walked in, I was annoyed once I realised that night, but I managed to find a replacement.

We had a great time!! 2 adults and 2.5 year old. Seemed expensive at $60 entry but we spent nearly 4 hours there. We saved money by packing a picnic, but the café food looked delicious so next time we will treat ourselves. The facilities are great, clean and new looking. We will definitely go back here. My only complaint is that the largest maze was quite a concern with all the sticks poking out, my toddler was running around and I was worried he would poke an eye out.

This is really good fun! Big mazes with plenty of quirky humour to go with it - the kids absolutely loved it. There was a good selection of mazes and other interesting bits to look at - with some local paddymelon to keep the kids entertained too. Our kids 8, 5 and 2 will remember this place for ever. Keep up the exceptional work.

Absolutely recommend especially if you have kids. So much to see and explore! The kids especially loved the embassies and the little town with cubby houses and tree house. I especially enjoyed the scenery and the lavender. Look at that view! Easy food and exceptional service. Bathroom was clean and a nice gift shop too. Bring a hat and sunscreen and plenty of water if you’re tackling the maze and think of staying for abit as we did. Even tho over cast, it was quite a warm day. Amazing time thank you

Lots of different things to do here. The mazes are fun, the little signs placed around are also good for a laugh. Lavender was pretty. Definitely stop off here of you are looking for something to do...

Wildlife conservation centre with daily tours hosting native species including Tasmanian Devils.
Very well maintained. Great job they are doing there regarding native Australian fauna conservation. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The animal tours of the quoll, Tass devils and wombats were very well conducted.

My two children (15 and 9) and I visited today. We followed the 1pm tour and enjoyed learning about some of the animals. The tour was the perfect amount of time, not to long and not to short. The sanctuary was really open (free roaming animals and the ones secured away for safety). The kangaroos were the fan favourite for my children and I but I also loved the Tasmanian devils. They weren't hiding away and we could get up and close (safely) to them. I feel it is the perfect environment for if one needs to relax and enjoy the surroundings and animals - there is seating to do so. A calming environment and the staff are really friendly. Highly recommend a visit. Suited for all ages.

We enjoyed it 15 years ago, and enjoyed even more today with kids.
We loved the low key nature of Trowunna, hand feeding birds and kangaroos, plus the very informative tour/talk included in the entry price. More sanctuary than commercialised tourist trap.

Good zoo, Good tours. Although a safety hazard for tourists is that there is no sign saying not to pat the Tassie devils as it has occurred before and injuries have happened. Overall 3.5 stars out of 5

This is a wonderful sanctuary to visit. Would highly recommend doing one of the free tours, as the staff are so knowledgeable and it was a great opportunity to learn more about these amazing animals. Worth the visit, you won't regret it!

This place was awesome. A rescue centre that cares about its animals. You buy your tickets from the gift shop. The tour was excellent with guides that care for the animals as well. There is time spent answering questions. You can get really up close, great for picture taking. Well worth the travel to visit here.

We really enjoyed the tour session given by the keepers, it was highly informative and we got to get up real close to the wombat and Tassie devil. This place has a real heart for these animals and their welfare, would highly recommend anyone visiting (or even passing through) Mole Creek to stop for a visit!

We did a private tour with Ned, and had a great time! It may not be as fancy as many other sanctuaries or zoos, but you can tell it’s run by people who genuinely care for these animals. Love your work team!

It's such a beautiful and peaceful place where you can meet the unbelievable fauna Tasmania possess. It's a one and only opportunity to watch Tasmanian devils from really close among others species. Highly recommended, probably coming back again

Very cool and chill place and we truly enjoyed it. Recommended to go Marakoopa Cave for the glow worm tour before coming here and as is 10% discount for this place from there.
We like the tour as it is very educational for tourists like us and if was an eye opener when the tasmanian devils was fed a carcass. We also get a chance to feed kangaroos and stroke animals. The free tour is a must and purchase the feed to make it a complete experience.
David Wong — Google review
Trowunna Sanctuary is an exceptional wildlife sanctuary with a focus on the Tasmanian devil, and it offers an incredible experience for an affordable price. With an entry fee of less than 30 bucks, visitors can embark on daily free tours guided by knowledgeable experts. These tours provide an up-close encounter with remarkable creatures like wombats and Tasmanian devils, allowing visitors to pet and interact with them.
The dedication and professionalism displayed by the staff at Trowunna Sanctuary are commendable. They not only facilitate these unforgettable encounters but also educate visitors about the risks posed by cats to wildlife. By raising awareness about the dangers of toxoplasmosis, they highlight the need to keep cats from roaming freely, as they can pose a significant threat to kangaroos, koalas, and Tasmanian devils.
For a small additional fee, visitors can purchase food to feed the park's wildlife. This offers a unique opportunity to interact with kangaroos, which are accustomed to being fed by people and pose no danger.
Trowunna Sanctuary is an exceptional sanctuary that combines education, conservation, and hands-on experiences. It's a place where visitors can connect with fascinating creatures and support their conservation efforts—a truly worthwhile and memorable experience for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Great wildlife sanctuary, staff are really friendly and there is an abundance of animals to see. There are numerous tours throughout the day and the guides are very knowledgeable.
Very kid friendly with the option to buy feeder bags to feed many of the free roaming animals.
There are limited food options here, however there are a selection of cold drinks and a Coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine for those cold days.

Great little sanctuary here! The staff have such a passion for everything they do here and are so knowledgeable and able to educate you on all the different animals. Would definitely recommend going and timing your visit with their interactive tours and feedings.

Was recommended to come here by other travellers and this place was amazing. Our daughter is obsessed with devils and this place has plenty of them. We arrived at opening and pretty much had the place to ourselves for an hour. We did the 11am tour and it was really informative. We were able to pat a young devil as well. Highly recommend a visit here

Had a great break driving back from cradle mountains to Launceston. The keepers are well informed and very friendly. Had a great time with the devil's and the Wombats. My favourite was the tawny frog mouth. Wait until it opens its beak. Thanks to all at the zoo for their good work and to help out our animal friends and maintain balance on this planet.
I would have liked a cafe overlooking the bird sanctuary or similar and think would been a great income for the zoo.
Porus Bharucha — Google review
If you get to be part of a group tour, it's totally worth it for the experience of petting a Tasmanian Devil and a wombat. Feeding the wallabies and kangaroos was fun. A few cool birds roaming around and in cages. Generally you'll be done in an hour.

Privatly run Australian wildlife sanctuary.
Great gift shop and feed available for some of the friendly animals.
Interactive tours 3 times a day. You're able to get up close with some of the cutest animals.
You're free to wander at your own pace too, just expect some slightly rough, hilly terrain, theres no paved paths, its all natural.
Kangaroos are very chilled and able to be fed and patted.
Not far out of the town of Mole Creek or the caves if you want to do some exploring.

Brilliant place! Be sure to do the free tour! Super informative and cool animals up close! Excellent conservation work being done by this small team, mindblowing stuff!

A fabulous place to visit! Great experience feeding the ducks, kangaroos and other free roaming animals. There was a large population of kangaroos and ducks!! You can get up very close to the kangaroos and they are not shy at all! Saw a few kangaroos with joeys too. Lovely experience watching the animals roam in their natural environment.
The keeper gave a very informative and entertaining talk on the Tassie devils. It was amazing to see so many Tassie devils and watch them feed. There were wombats and wild roaming pademelons too. Too cute!
Definitely would recommend visiting. Best to visit early in the morning when the animals are more active. Staff were nice and friendly. Great to hear about the breeding program and conservation work that is being done at this centre.

Great sanctuary (education and research center). The tour is around 45 minutes start with wombat, Tasmania devils, soot tail squall, and feeding Tasmania devils.
We spent roughly 3hours there with a 9 yos old. It’s a bit hard to find a carpark during Christmas break after 12.30pm.

Visitors can explore the Mole Creek Caves, which consist of two underground caverns with streams and colorful stalagmites. The Marakoopa Caves boast the highest concentration of glow worms in the country, while the King Solomon Caves are dry. Guided tours are required to access both caves, with Marakoopa tours departing hourly from 10:00 am and King Solomon tours starting at 10:30 am.
Nice and easy for the less fit and adventurous of us. Great guide who was really informative. First time in a cave and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The track up to the cave is an easy walk and so beautiful however you can drive to the entrance if preferred.

Really good value. Lots of typical cave features to see in a remarkably beautiful and unique Tasmanian cave. Lots of stairs to climb on the way in, easy descent on the way out. Guide (Aaron) was knowledgeable and friendly, he was only too happy to include our kids and answer the endless questions. Highly recommend a visit if you’re looking for things to do on the North West Coast.

This was a fascinating experience being shown through the cave system at Mole Creek. The guide was informative and knew what she was talking about. She has a wealth of information regarding repair caves in the cave systems which extends well beyond where we were able to go as general public.
Steven Hackett — Google review
Let me start by saying how beautiful the area surrounding Mole Creek is! Shannon was our tour guide today and she was fantastic; great sense of humour, knowledgeable, passionate about what she does and was happy to take the time to answer any questions.
The caves themselves were beautiful; we did the underground rivers and glow worms tour and it did not disappoint. Great for an average fitness level and went for around 45min, if not a bit longer. Highly recommended for anyone appreciative of what nature has to offer!
Jessica Truswell — Google review
Incredible cave system to explore via a guided tour. The formations are beautiful and one of the caves even has an internal creek and glow worms. Booking is essential as numbers are limited per allocated time slot. If you're in the Launceston area do yourself a favour and head to the Mole Creek Caves, you won't be disappointed.
Suitable for kids, some are easier to explore than others so recommend you ask the booking team when you call ahead.

First thing first: guided tour only. So book your visit / tour around 2 weeks prior. We had the King Solomon Cave and it was awesome experience. Ben was very helpful in the booking process and Renee was very knowldegable and fun at the same time. She guided us in ways that keep the kids entertained and safe, while informing us things to watch for as we go. She also has excellent time management skill that we can comfortably take so many pictures. Magnificent caves made extra-ordinary. Highly recommended. Make sure you visit the Marakoopa Cave too.

Great tour, very knowledgeable and friendly guide Aaron. We did the Great Cathedral tour, it climbs 60m from the entry up into hollow hill. Plenty of stops to catch your breath for the less fit. There are moments where the lights are turned off and you are plunged into pitch black. The caves have incredible stalactites and stalagmites. The glow worm section of the tour is amazing.
Definitely worth the stop. Beautiful area.
Winston Hawke — Google review
Insane cave network in the area, real shame you are not allowed to take pictures of the glow worms as they were easily the highlight. Regardless, the cave has some incredible formations and I really recommend checking them out!
Clancy Arkcoll — Google review
What an incredible experience. First things. There are to cave tours (1) Glow Worms Tour and (2) Great Cathedral Tour - I would encourage you to do both in succession! I made my booking by phone and spoke with Shannon, then was met at the rangers visitors centre by Ben and Dave. We only booked the glow worm tour not knowing about the Great Cathedral Tour. We ended up doing both! My chat with Ben at the visitors centre was great as we talked about our mutual respect and love for Fungus! Ask Ben if you meet him, it will be fascinating! We received our access pass from Dave and then made our way (800m) up to the cave entrance where we met 4 other tour guests. Shannon arrived after completing another tour at about 2pm (our tour time) and we made our way in. Shannon's beautiful nature, and love for the cave was obvious. The cave path is easy to navigate with everyone having to duck their heads (even short people) a couple of times. The cave has been formed over millions of years from limestone with speleothem (limestone stalactites and stalagmites), A speleothem is a geological formation by mineral deposits that accumulate over time in caves. There are a couple of places in the cave where the reverberation of your voice makes even the worst singer sound amazing. What to see: There are amazing formations of limestone stalactites and stalagmites as well as an underground river (short creek) and glow worms. There are a number of occasions where the guide will turn out the lights and you will get to experience the grandeur of the cave structure. The highlight for me was a surprise (so I won't give it away, but if you get Shannon and do the Great Cathedral Tour, (and she is in the mood) you definitely will not be disappointed. This is a great attraction for young, middle aged and older people. Easy to navigate and very interesting.. Allow an hour for each tour!

We visited the Marakoopa Caves.
I highly encourage you to prebook your tickets. We booked 4 days in advance (January) and were able to secure our tickets. The time and date sold out by the next morning.
We have visited caves all around Australia and New Zealand, so what makes these caves different? Being part of the original Gondwana super continent sea shelf was amazing to hear. Seeing a running creek through the cave was also awesome. But it was the glow worms that really make the cave spectacular. Whilst not as abundant as those we’ve seen in New Zealand, they do glow a different colour (slightly green).
We were not allowed to take photos (even without flash) until we moved beyond the open caverns.
A great “introductory” cave for families rather than a showcase cave. We did learn that it is one of 500 in the area.

We had yet again the pleasure of having Aaron as our guide. It is his passion and conviction, coupled with an in depth knowledge of natural science and many other academic fields that make this cave tour well worth a visit.
Merry Christmas Aaron and hope to see you again in the New Year.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mole Creek Caves, and it was truly an amazing experience, thanks in large part to Mr Ben. As a dedicated Visitor Services Officer and Tour Guide, Ben's expertise shines through in every aspect.
His tours are not just informative; they're a captivating journey into the mesmerizing world of caves. Ben's explanations of stalactite formations, playfully likening them to "bacon" and "cheese," make the experience both enlightening and engaging. His ability to blend technical details with plain language keeps you hooked and wanting to learn more.
Beyond the fascinating tour itself, Ben's commitment to educating visitors about the significance of preserving our natural environment is truly admirable. His passion for environmental conservation is not only inspiring but also a reminder of our duty to safeguard these remarkable natural treasures.
Kudos to Ben for his exceptional work. The Mole Creek Caves experience was enhanced by his knowledge, dedication, and unwavering commitment to creating an unforgettable and educational journey.

Peaceful refuge dedicated to Tasmanian devils & quolls, with a visitor center & guided tours.

Lovely wildlife sanctuary dedicated to Tasmanian devils and quolls. Loved the day feeding tour as it was very informative and after the talks you were able to wander around and explore the different enclosures by yourself. We went in the late afternoon (post cradle mountain walks) and found it to be the perfect way to finish off the day.

I was so pleasantly surprised! A must go to after spending the day in Cradle Mountain. We went here in the evening to catch the Devil Feeding session (which also included quoll feeding) and a very educational talk on both endangered species. Very much worth the time and great to learn about all the great conservation efforts they are involved with.

What a treat this was! We booked in for the 5:30 pm feeding which was perfect because it finished before it got dark, allowing us to get back to our accommodation with out any issues. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We got there early and were pleased to hear that Sanctuary entry was included in our tour ticket. It was great to see the tour guide - Dave - adjust the tour footprint to allow for maximum accessibility for wheelchair users.

Definitely come here. The conservation efforts of the staff are to be commended, and they were all really friendly, knowledgeable and only too keen to answer question and were genuinely caring and appreciative of guests coming in and actually caring enough to stop-by.
Great to see the devils, as the chances of seeing in the wild are slim to none. They also have eastern and spotted tail quolls, both of which are worth seeing and learning about their plight in the wild.
If you love small cute things and wildlife come here. Day Keeper Rory took us on a very comprehensive tour and was clear and easy to understand and super friendly.
We also booked the Joey encounter, which again, was super cute and our guide was very personally invested, sharing how she hand raises the variety of joeys under her care, and keeping them with her 24/7 as she goes about her chores and errands.

We attended at the sanctuary on 1 January 2024 for a day entry and keeper tour. The facilities were really amazing.
Our zoologist tour guide showed us around the centre and his educational tour was really informative as to the complexities of the devils breeding, and the circumstances surrounding their decline into being declared at risk of extinction.
We also enjoyed seeing the spotted tail and eastern quall and his obvious affection for them was wonderful to see
should we ever be in the area again we will definitely come back for another tour

This was the best thing we did! So the feeding because as part of this you get a guide tour and talk from extremely knowledgeable staff who are very passionate about their work.

This was an awesome experience, and our first opportunity to learn about Tasmanian Devils, Quolls (which we didn't know much about until coming here!), the threats they face in the wild and what we are doing to help them out.
The keepers were incredibly friendly and educational. The animals were pretty active considering their normally nocturnal behavior, and we would highly recommend making a stop here if you want to learn anything about Devils or Quolls, or get an opportunity to see them at close.

We went to the feeding time tour and it was fantastic. Well worth the money, super informative, went for 90 mins, and we saw heaps of different Devils and Quolls eating various bits of animals. The keeper actually picked up one of the young ones she had hand reared and it was very cute. Great facility, but if it’s raining and cold bring a wet weather jacket!

We love wildlife parks and as far as they go this is one of the better ones. The enclosures were excellent, very spacious and lots of places for the critters to explore or hide.
Because it is close to Cradle Mountain it is a little more pricey than other similar parks that we visited but still well worthwhile.

Great place to get to know and see Tasmanian Devils and Quolls. They breed them here. Great talk by keeper who hugged a devil to her chest (she had raised it). Not recommended to try yourself. An astonishing experience and a must-see for all adventurous types. Make sure you are in reasonably good shape before embarking on this hike, there are some sections involving chain rope climbs and rock scrambles as you approach the summit.
My friend and I completed the Ronny Creek - Marion's Lookout - Cradle Summit - Hansons Peak - Dove Lake Circuit yesterday and were treated to near-perfect hiking conditions.

Very pleasant day trip at Cradle Mountain. We did the Crater Lake walk which was relatively straightforward and easy. Some inclines and descents but nothing too strenuous. Great day trip if you are staying near Launceston.
There is a 10-15m shuttle from the car park that takes you to various stop off points (visitor centre, etc) and ends at the Cradle Mountain hikes. After your hike you can shuttle back to the car park. Relatively busy but not too crazy even though we were there during the holidays. Once we got out on the hike it got much quieter too.
Had our eyes out for wombats, unfortunately didn't see any, but still plenty of critters and birds around. It was quite a hot morning so I imagine most were seeking shade.

Amazing place especially for hiking. Shuttle bus service is so convenient that bus will be available in every 10-15 mins. Some of the bus drivers are very friendly and funny with bear like Santa Clause. Beautiful people! Drinking water is available at Dove lake stop only. We did the circuit lake Dove > Wombat pool > Crater Lake > Marions Lookout > kitchen hut > Face Track > Lake Will > Dove Lake. Long hike took us 8h but beautiful views. Snacks and suncream are must-have. Layers are recommended as it’s windy sometimes

What a majestic mountain and must-see Tasmanian attraction! The temperamental weather makes for many adventure opportunities. Over the years I've seen sunshine, rains, winds, snow and more sweep across Cradle. Always come prepared! There are plenty of ways to tailor your walking routes based on the conditions. The Dove Lake circuit is by far the easiest, but I love the view and challenge of Cradle, Marion's Lookout and Hanson's Peak. The last time I visited we were lucky to stay in Scout Hut. Definitely pack light for the Hut, and don't expect reception or wifi, but enjoy the smog covered surrounds as you sleep in the clouds! The information centre has been renovated in recent years and is great to stop by on your way up and down.
Jessie Schilling — Google review
Absolutely stunning. Luckily had fantastic weather. Was only planning on doing the short walks, but 5 hours & two numb feet later, I was so stoked with how the day turned out. It's very easy to turn left instead of right and you are guaranteed to get rewarded for your efforts. The landscapes change in an instant. I saw all ages on the walks, but the steep parts ARE steep, with plenty of uneven ground. However, take your time, ask questions of the other hikers (always got some helpful info) and carry at least one big water bottle minimum.
Purchase a park pass ($26 for an adult), leave your car at the visitor centre and catch the shuttle that's available at all the stops every 15 minutes.
Also, I was lucky enough to see the quadfecta of animals; A wombat, echidna, snake (sleeping) and some wallabies.
Definitely factor Cradle mountain in when visiting Tassie.

Our one-night stay at the hotel was absolutely fantastic! The staff at the concierge, bar, and restaurant were so attentive and friendly, providing us with seamless and top-notch service.
The vibe all around was fantastic, offering spots to hang out and have a blast with friends and family. Oh, and they even threw in a pool table for some extra fun! 🎱🎉
We had a blast at the dinner and breakfast buffet – it was a real culinary adventure! However, here's a little food for thought: the hotel could spice things up even more by expanding the à la carte menu to make sure all our vegetarian pals feel just as pampered. 🍽️🌱
What really stood out was that the hotel had EV charging available. Since we were cruising in a Tesla, this was a major help and convenience for us. 🔌🚗
Oh, and by the way, in the Cradle Mountain area, only Telstra and Optus seem to have mastered the art of mobile network coverage. So, we became best buddies with the hotel's WiFi, even though it played a bit hard to get in the quality department. 📶😕
Well, our bathroom also had a surprise guest – a spider! I guess that's just our forested hotel's way of saying, "Welcome to our cozy critter club!" 🕷️
Overlooking these minor hiccups, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and may consider extending our visit for more days in the future.

With thoughtful amenities like ample parking, EV charging, and organized transport, coupled with the breathtaking natural beauty, it’s an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left. Stunning views if u track up to higher altitudes!
There are many trails with vary difficulties.
Some of the trails are difficult and scary.
I tried the face track and it was really tough and scary as the track hugs the edge of the cradle mountain...
Try the overland track as it is generally easier.
My advice is to follow the tracks poles closely and they do appear every 10 m or so.
I nearly got lost as I didn't tag along the poles..

This is a must-see whilst visiting Tasmania. If you have time, slow down and stay at least two nights to give you plenty of time to do the hikes and explore the mountain. The Dove Lake Circuit is lovely but note there are still many steps to climb (allow 2.5 - 3 hours to do this walk). If you are in a hurry, you could just head to the Boat Shed (10 minutes from start of walk) and then to head to Glacier Rock (another 10 minutes).

Awe inspiring views. It rained, hailed and snowed all within the 2hrs. The sun did come out as well. Bring a raincoat in case. We completed the 6km circuit in 2hrs and stopped off several times to take pictures. They recommend 2-3hrs. We managed to see wombats and bandicoots along the way.
The bus drivers are very friendly and Knowledgable.
Purchase your park pass and you can catch the bus to different locations to start your walk. It was about $52 for 2 adults which included the bus. There’s a small cafe which you can purchase snacks, pies, sausage rolls and drinks. There are toilet facilities at Dove lake and the information center.

Great museum ($25 for adults), I would highly recommend buying presents for family and friends from their giftshop to support the local Zeehan community (I've attached some gifts I got below, fairly cheap compared to other places in TAS and also supports local artists)

Lots to see and showcases the way those in the harsh west coast of Tasmania lived with mining displays including geology, machinery, transport. Entry to old theatre, freemasonry centre, courthouse and replica underground mine. Well worth a visit!
Karen Hamilton — Google review
Very interesting place to visit. Allow half a day. Expensive entry of $25 per person. Unfortunately I think people are put off by that - in fact standing outside, I saw many tourists look at the sign, make comment on the entry fee and walk on. Inside, there are great displays on minerals - never thought lumps of rock could be so beautiful. Perhaps a display on what these minerals are turned into, why they are mined - why do they mine crocite. The workshops and mining displays are well done - interesting and immersive. Another reviewer mentioned that the exhibits look to be done by amateurs and I agree with this. There is little evidence of the entrance fee going towards maintaining exhibits with quite a few displays needing some love (such as the 1950’s era clothes shoved on a couple of racks and put in a dark room; the Masonic room looks like a jumble of furniture in a small room and the Gaiety simply looks neglected - mind you, that’s exactly how it is now sadly). There are a couple of extremely interesting old records from Hobart Gaol in the Magistrates Court - we need more of this to bring this room alive, to tie it to the past, otherwise it’s just a room. I found the old pictures of original conditions the best, especially concerning places I had visited recently, such as the vanished Balfour, and Zeehan itself in its heyday. All in all, made me realise that I definitely would not do well as a prospector in those days. What a hard life.

An amazing look into the Zeehan area mining and the history of the historic town

This was a wonderful experience, and the museum was incredibly well organized and interesting. Good background about mining, life in the early days and the challenges of building, employment and community
We were driving from Strahan to Cradle Mountain so a great place to fill up with fuel.
Allow at least an hour but we probably spent two hours because we were really interested

Much bigger than expected, could have spent much more time than the 2 hours I allowed for. Fascinating collection of minerals. Really loved the restored theatre and Railway display. Definitely worth visiting, you will found much more than you expect.

This is a must see in Tas IMO.
The amount of artifacts and information in one museum is just outstanding, it just keeps on going as you look!
A wealth of knowledge on history in the area, a real window into the past. The theater is amazing, mining history is amazing, steam trains, information on early settlers all amazing!
Very cheap for what you get to experience! 10/10

Amazing but please plan to spend a fair few hours.

First class geological specimens on display linked back to the former mining museum connection. Best mineral collection I have seen since university in the 1970's.
Artefacts linked to mining on display plus static steam locomotives. Good photographic display upstairs.
Excellent coffee shack, "Carol's" just outside the museum.

Lots to see. Well worth a visit. Your ticket allows you multiple entries. If you have the time I would recommend visiting different sections on different days.

Started off with fantastic staff who have wonderful and helpful attitudes (particularly Jamie who helped us when we arrived not long before closing - but we could go back next morning to continue our tour) We love local history and West Coast Heritage Centre definitely has lots of historical information. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic collection of information and displays of the mining area and it's rich history

A great museum that's well set out to find out about lots of different things. You could spend a day to go through it all! We unfortunately only had an hour as we got there just before closing. The kids ran about having a great time and were disappointed when we left: they threw each other in jail, pretended they were judges, explored a mine, "drove" a train, and many other things. The staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

One of the most comprehensive heritage centres in Tassie. Was well worth a few hours spent there
Nicholas Mills — Google review
Expensive at @$25 for an adult, but reasonable for a family ticketed at $55. A couple of engines, some great old photo upstairs about local mining operations. A Very good mineral collection. Some very interesting exhibits inside and out. Would say its a bit tired and the displays look like it was put together by volunteers not professionals. But an enjoyable few hours.
Thanks for the Amazing experience!
My buddy and i went up there not knowing what to expect. As Queenstown is quite remote, and we’ve only heard and seen a handful of videos on youtube about the trails in Mt Owen.
Safe to say that Roamwild shuttle is very helpful for shuttling us up the Telstra Tower.
Paul was super helpful during the two days of our visit in Queenstown. Thank you Roamwild for the amazing experience!

Absolutely epic day with Roamwild. Driver was on time super friendly and safely got us up a pretty dam steep track to the top of mt Owen for our half day shuttle's. Great local knowledge of the town and great tips of the trails and where to go. Can't ask for more then that 👌

I went on lost mines tour found it to be really enjoyable. The guide (Joy) was great and really passionate and knowledgeable about the Queenstown area, history, flora and fauna. - Definitely worth it !

Excellent MTB shuttle service with running commentary about the whole Queenstown region. We did 2 shuttles up to the Mount Owen trail head and the service was incredible. It was great value for the day! Totally recommend visiting the Paragon theatre after an epic day of riding for drinks and view films at the theatre.

We went on the Lake Margaret Hydro tour. It was a highlight of our stay in Queenstown. Anthony has a wealth of knowledge but a relaxed manner, which made the afternoon most enjoyable. Having a local background, meant the insights to the area and the Hydro project were a bonus. Just really like what the Roamwild crew are doing with tours, shuttle's and the Paragon Theatre. A real asset to the region.

We spent a day riding the Queenstown MTB trails. Roam Wild provided the shuttle uplifts all day. The riding was spectacular, completely unique to Australia and something any keen rider should add to their list of must ride destinations. The service from Roam Wild was great, super friendly and provided flexibly around how we wanted to ride. Would highly recommend

Did the 1/2 day Mt Owen MTB shuttle. Chris the driver was great, very informative about the area. Trails were incredible, amazing descents but be aware a good chunk of climbing too!

If you're in Queenstown, do yourself a favour and hit up Anthony for an amazing tour. We visited an abandoned mine, went gold prospecting and more. Tour was fabulous! Host was friendly, informative made the whole experience one to remember. Worth the trip!

Definitely a must-do in Queenstown! We had an amazing sunset drive up to Mount Owen. Our tour guide was awesome, with heaps of local knowledge shared in a relaxed manner. He was able to answer lots of questions we had about Queenstown, the surrounding areas, and Tasmania in general. We were lucky enough to have a clear evening and were able to see an incredible range of mountains from the top! It was truly one of the most breathtaking views I have seen. We will hopefully be back one day to do more 4x4 tours with RoamWild.

We recently had an amazing experience in Queenstown with RoamWild, participating in 3 of their tours - Lost Mines and Ancient Pines, Lake Margaret, and Mt Owen 4x4. In all cases, we were, in part or totally, taken behind locked gates and immersed in the rugged history, geography and situation of Queenstown by excellent local guides. So much of the story of Queenstown is in the history and this is not easily easily accessed without some local help. RoamWild delivered a truly enjoyable and informative full day, which can, of course, be spread over more than 1 day.

Would just like to thank Chris our amazing guide and Roam Wild for a wonderful, informative morning. We did the Lost Mines and Ancient Pines tour yesterday. Chris was delightful to chat to, very knowledgeable about the local area, history of the town and the native flora and fauna. The old Paragon Theatre where the tour starts is an added bonus! Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Queenstown.

Great team at Roam Wild, both the hosts at Paragon base and
catered dinner and the guides. Chris was very informative and fun as she took us to and arond Lake Margaret township and Power Station. Anthony was also agracious and enthusiastic tour guide as he took us into the native forests and hidden mines, plus the Specialty Timbers wood mill on Mt Jukes Road.
We saw places that we would normally not find or be allowed into. Two days wonderful experience.

We had an amazing time riding Mt Owen with Chris as our private shuttle driver for the day. Highly recommend!
Nelson Falls is a picturesque waterfall located in the midst of a lush rainforest on the way from Cradle Mountain to Mount Field National Park. It can be easily accessed by taking a short walk of about 700 meters from the nearby car park. The waterfall is surrounded by beautiful moss, ferns, and sassafras trees that add to its scenic beauty. Along the path leading to it are educational panels that provide valuable information about the ecosystem of this native rainforest.
Must visit! Extremely easy walk that is all well maintained path. There’s a bit of a loop which is nice so it feel like you’re extending the walk since it’s so short.

This place is beautiful, only a short 10min walk from the main road on a timber board walk. The Falls were spectacular and the trees had flowers falling from the tops.
Highly recommended.

This walk is a great way to have a short break when travelling south from Queenstown or doing a day drive. it's a very easy short walk with a very rewarding water fall at the end. Rare with the exception of Russell falls to see such a large spectacular waterfall so easily accessible.

Beautiful walk and lovely falls with many different trails. There were afew people around but didn’t have to wait long to take some pics.

Amazing natural waterfall that looks completely untouched surrounded by rainforest. A must see if your traveling the road and passing by. Only a 5-10 min walk in total, with a path and toilets. No reason not to take 10 mins on your road trip to stop here!

we stopped by here as we saw a lot of cars parking. it was a majestic view & total serenity, all we heard was the sound of the water. a short walk distance from the car park it's definetely worth visiting.

A beautiful easy walk up to the falls. Its National park so to keep it as pristine as you found it please make sure you have a National parks pass. This helps keep the falls and the facilities so good. No rubbish on the track when we visited which was great. Lots of different mushroom and lichen to see. Red breasted robins as well are easy to see.

Easy access with flat path to the fall. The fall itself is beautiful and full of water on the day I visited! Only 20 mins walk for return. And it’s next to highway as a rest stop with toilet.

One of the prettiest falls this side of Tassie. It’s a short walk in and back from the car park, about 20 minutes. The walk features beautiful moss covered trees and ferns worth the final destination being Nelson Falls. Very peaceful and worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Beautiful and serene. marked trail and easy to walk!

Visited on a cold rainy day, nature in full swing, could hear the waterfall from a distance.
It's a short 20 min return circuit from the highway.
Getting parking around public holidays can get difficult as there are limited spots available.
People do park along and across the road..
Overall a Nice place to stretch your back from drive and give yourself a break.

An absolutely beautiful falls, another easy walk in, on a clear path. Beautiful scenery all around. The surrounding forest makes you feel like you are walking through a fairy tale, with the running stream and little grottos. Loved this falls.

Stunning views with an easy walk (wheelchair accessible!). Lots of nature development historical facts here. Overall an interesting walk that suits everyone. The waterfall was astonishing and big.
Spring seems to be a good time to visit, as there are not many visitors, and you don’t worry seeing all the annoying files coming to you.
