So much to see, and well worth the price of admission, cool books related to the exhibits and lovely staff as well.
I was expecting to spend half an hour or so here and found myself looking for nearly 2 hours!
Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself curious on the local history of this area :)

This is one of the best museums I have been to. There's a lot to see and great value.
Colleen Denton — Google review
I'm not usually one for museums, but this one is fabulous. The local stories are set individually in sections across three storeys of the amazing old flour mill. Just to wander through the building itself is marvellous.
Story settings on aboriginal, bushranger, world war, shearing, farming, craft work, old fire engines & carts, family history themes, etc. And the cricket bat exhibit had us giggling!
$5 per concession holder & it took us a very casual hour as we read the stories that interested either of us. For the bobbin lace enthusiast, there is an extensive display both on view & in large, pull out display drawers.
This museum really is a credit to all the people involved - likely volunteers. So we hope younger locals value their heritage & help out.

Excellent little museum! A whole lot to see about Australian history and Captin Thunderbolt. Definately worth the stop
Grace Mathis — Google review
Great museum, very interesting. Beautiful exhibition of paintings telling the story of Thunderbolt's death. An exhibition of the Chinese influence in the gold fields. Treasures that were discovered in a box hidden behind a wall, the box saved the building from being demolished. And the story of our first famous sport's man.
Sarah Hope — Google review
Well presented museum of local history clean great exhibition of paintings depicting thunderbolts last days . Dont disregard this museum thinking you have seen enough of country exhibits as well worth it

Amazing museum. So much history over 3 floors, from when it was a mill to Captain Thunderbolt oh and even a basement type area with more history including an early fire engine.
Deb Cattell — Google review
Great small museum run by amazing volunteers. The story of Captain Thunderbolt was extremely well presented by a wonderful volunteer. Good displays and the explanations were informative. Highly recommended 👌.

Uralla is full of surprises. Well worth a stop. Great history of the local area and the people within. Additional information about Captain Thunderbolt. Nicely put together over 2 floors. The collection of artwork hanging on the wall was wonderful. Country towns have so much to offer by way of history. Bushranges, Gold rush, sporting legends, families of note.

What an amazing place to visit. Perfect for a history buff and families to learn the history of the area and Thunderbolt the bushranger
Kaz L — Google review
Great paintings and information on Thunderbolt plus lots of other relics. Well sectioned and the nicest loos ever (well almost)!
Uralla information centre is located on the New England Highway just within the Uralla township. It has a separate parking spaces and a small park for children with play equipments and a barbecue space.
The toilets are attached to the office buildings which are open to public, but only on business days. Cool and quiet place, but there is a need for a separate toilet for people who use the playground.

This for a small country town was outstanding . The choices and grade of stock better than 99% of city businesses and it's. Obvious the proprietors are hard working intelligent thoughtful fair and honest traders.
Their business morals are obvious unlike in the city where lieing and cheating your clients are the Short term answers.
The don't work for long so in the city u blame others and backstab and betray.
It's 2 years since being in this store and my pleasant experience stays with me .
99% of my life in the city is featured by betrayal backstabbing and lies .

Motorcycle Ride Destination. Bike friendly. Great town!
Wildlife park featuring an interactive kangaroo enclosure & walk-in bird aviary, plus a playground.
A great spot to visit if you enjoy nature and wildlife. Entry is free, you’ll come across kangaroos, emus, peacocks, and more, plus many birds – especially in the giant walk-in aviary. There’s seats and tables where you can sit and enjoy the sights and sounds, and several walking trails. Although the park isn’t completely wheel chair accessible, it’s still possible to see quite a few areas (for some of them, like the kangaroo habitat and the bird aviary, there are heavy doors which might need assistance to open).
Greg Sharpe — Google review
Small park with free entry. Quiet with not many visitors when I dropped by early in the morning. The peacocks walking around and the talking Sulphur Crested Cockatoo were my favourites.
Reuben D'lima — Google review
Well worth a visit and it's free. Great kids playground and really enjoyed the massive walk in bird aviary and getting up and close to the wallabies. Plenty of little area where you can just sit and rest. Worth a walk to lookout and botanical Gardens as well.
Great work volunteers
adrian Salvador — Google review
A not very big park, with several cages for birds and marsupial. The “sad” part of it was that there weren’t many people in there, it was quite empty. The highlight has been interacting with parrots, “speaking” with them and listening to their words
Massimiliano Trenti — Google review
This is a perfect place to take the children's in! Absolutely recommended, the playground is one of the best we have been visiting with our kids!
Nelcy Porras — Google review
A lovely afternoon for the family. There are plenty of shaded rest areas to sit and have a picnic lunch, as well as a few short walking tracks for those with itchy feet.
The walk in aviary was a delight, with plenty of beautiful parrots and sweet pigeons.
Some of the animal habitats were missing animals though, so we didn't get to see all the critters we signed up for. Not sure if we were too late or they aren't in residence.
Christine Gunn — Google review
It's my first time to go there and I enjoyed it so much , so many animals that you will enjoy watching and you can also play to a cockatoo birds. Im so amaze because they can talk hahaha there's no like that in my country so I really enjoyed it. Its a good place where all you'll hear are the sounds of different animals in there 😊
Jessamine Motol — Google review
Great free attraction in Tamworth. The animals are good to see but the adventure park is what you would stay for. Definitely worth the visit. We stayed for almost 2 hours.
Timothy Blick — Google review
Great place to visit great for families with kids & it free so it doesn't get any better than that
Kevin Luckhurst — Google review
Free animal/adventure playground park. Toilets, picnic areas. Not alot of animals, we seen the basic - emu and kangaroos. Enclosed bird avairy.
Perfect to break up the drive if you have children with you.
adventures_with_luxi — Google review
Almost as good as the free native animal park in Newcastle (can't remember the name), but definitely well worth the visit.
Stu Hasic — Google review
Great place for kids, free! There are no stores in the park so bring a bottle of water!
Gideon Kotze — Google review
Beautiful park only a 5min drive from the Main Street of Tamworth. It’s free entry and has several native animals in enclosures that you can visit including an aviary, emu and kangaroo enclosure. Plenty of picnic areas in the lush and shady bushland makes it a really relaxing and enjoyable place to visit. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the outdoors.
Carl Halpin — Google review
This little park has an amazing kids playground and animals to see as well as a bushwalking if interested
Donna Rodwell — Google review
I loved the Kangaroo, emu and the parrots. Free entry. Not too much to see but I was going mostly for the Kangaroo.
A few walks start here. It is actually a pretty good spot to either chill or reset before you go to the next walk. We tried seeing sunset but it got too cloudy. Still good view. Plenty of parking and clean public toilets. Very well maintained roads coming uphill to this lookout.
Tony Zhu — Google review
Another spot to visit in Tamworth, the lookout presents the unbelievable experience especially during the sunset. It is a fabulous moment to enjoy the sunset from higher place. Visitors should not miss the moment to visit the lookout if you are in Tamworth.
Khairil Razali — Google review
Great views of the city of Tamworth. Especially nice at sunset. Lots of younger people and immigrant workers on a Sunday enjoying the views, pick-nicking, and walking on the various trails surrounding the lookout. Definitely worth the drive up if you are in the area.
David Webb — Google review
A pretty spot and lookout high above the town of tamworth, it was a very open and wide view of the wntire town and hosted several outdoor picnic-ing and bbqing amenities. As boring as tamworth looked and might be it was still a view to see every little bit of the town from this high above, and seeing even beyond that.

During my visit to Tamworth, I had the opportunity to explore the Oxley Scenic Lookout, and it was an absolutely stunning experience. This lookout provides some of the most breathtaking panoramic views I’ve ever seen.
The journey to the lookout itself was enjoyable, with well-marked trails and a relatively easy hike. As I reached the summit, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring vista that stretched as far as the eye could see. The Tamworth region’s natural beauty was on full display, with rolling hills, lush greenery, and the Peel River winding its way through the landscape.
The best part was the elevated viewing platform that allowed me to take in the scenery from a perfect vantage point. It was a fantastic spot to capture some incredible photographs, especially during sunrise or sunset. I’d recommend bringing a camera to capture the magic of this place.
What impressed me most about the Oxley Scenic Lookout was its peacefulness and serenity. It’s an ideal spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, connect with nature, and simply appreciate the beauty of the Australian countryside.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a photographer, or someone seeking a tranquil escape, the Oxley Scenic Lookout is a must-visit. It offers an unforgettable experience and a chance to immerse yourself in the natural wonder of the Tamworth area.

Great place to watch Tamworth and surrounds. Nice place for family hangouts and watching magnificent sunset. The Lookout is located at the top of White Street and is easily accessible by vehicle or a moderate hike will bring you to this excellent vantage spot. The views are almost 180 degrees and stretch for kilometres into the distance providing incredible views of both the city and Peel River Valley.

I'll never travel to Cowra without this trip planner again
Really enjoyed our visit here. Has been several years since we had the opportunity to walk down this way on our trip to Tamworth. This was definitely a nice surprise. Not sure if the Cafe is doing as well as it could according to local reports but didn't get the time to sit and make our own decisions on this though. Beautiful spot all the same and striking distance to Peel St to pick up whatever other foods for a picnic.
Fabulous venue for the kids to explore outdoor activities. Such a range to experience. Even an outdoor activity section to use body weight equipment to improve your fitness levels. So good. Kids could spend a good few hours here as the parents wanted to BBQ or just relax. Plenty of man made shade and trees. A bit of history at the other end of the park with more clean public toilets available there.

Would have to say this is the best playground for kids I've come across. I would have loved to have something as extravagant as this when I was young. We will definitely stop off here when on road trips in the future. Smart move by Tamworth as it will mean people will spend money in the town while giving their legs a stretch

Great regional Park. More suited to older kids. Parking is plentiful, cafe is near by for thirsty parents.

An amazing playground, kids couldn't pick their favourite. Soft fall covering is probably the spongiest I've ever felt.
An improvement I would suggest is another toilet block or at least a bigger one with a change room for the wet play area

If you're looking for a playground that your kids will like I highly recommend Tamworth regional playground! They have so many stuff there that your kids will definitely love! Even teenager can enjoy this playground 💗

What an incredible park and playground for kids, playing along with a forest of millions of Bat - flying fox.
Slogan on board says "living with flying fox"
Lots of playground set up with giant fun slides, swings and flying fox ~ super popular
Don't forget the amazing looking and popular cafe on site next to playground.
Tons of 3P Parking next to the park available with disability parking as well.
Strongly recommended.

Wow what a great playground!
More than that, it's like someone said 'pick all your favourite things about every modern playground and put them in one place'. It has a Cafe, undercover picnic tables, sand pit, equipment for all ages, water play area, street parking, shade, great landscaping and green spaces.
Great work Tamworth council. I want one of these in Wollongong!
Steven Bell — Google review
A great place for the young and young at heart to relax and spend time using the different sorts of play equipment. The council are renovating the area by placing rubberised softfall under the items to replace the pine chips.
Martin Brown — Google review
Incredible park! Well designed, lots to do for kids of all ages. Lots of different areas to play, climb, slide, jump, spin. Plenty of swings, excellent flying fox. Great area for toddlers, sand pit, climbing structures.
AND there's a kiosk situated next door if you need a coffee or hot chips, ice cream, drinks, etc.
It's got lots of covers, great for shade.
Our kids played here for hours!
Well done Tamworth!

This was an awesome stop in Tamworth, at "The Golden Guitar" right beside the information centre.
We were first to get some photos together at the guitar, gees we took a few and to early to get into the visitor centre.
Took several shots and took some for others that turned up, good fun, very early Sunday morning, after an awesome breakfast at the accomdation.
This is great, then used maccas toilets and got on the road. Always awesome and easy to find the big tourist site.

We visited this yesterday. I always enjoy Australia’s ’big things’ and this was just another addition. We went into the visitor centre just behind the guitar and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Not only did they tell us about the significance of the guitar (Tamworth is the country music capital) but they also have us a map and pointed out things that we might like to see and do. We ended up buying a little guitar pick for a friend. Lovely experience 💯

Very busy with tourists, the wax figures were pretty good. The information displayed with the figures was very informative. The guitar room was interesting.
Caz B — Google review
The information centre at the Golden Guitar was fantastic. The lady gave us a very detailed list of things to do and see in the area.
The Wax Museum is out the back and worth visiting.
Nicola — Google review
A very nice looking tourist spot in tamworth for all the country fans and folks. Even if youre not, seeing these wax figurines and guitars (original and replica) were extremely cool and something to look at at least once if youre in the area. The service was also fantastic, and i believe it doubled as a sort of information centre. The lady was very helpful and friendly, and my parents were chatting with them for a very long time, asking questions about their little museum and also about things to do in the area.
They also had a massive golden guitar standing at their front, serving as a sort of monument of tamworth.
stefan a — Google review
The staffs are sooooo nice 🥰 we enjoyed our visit 🎸
J J — Google review
This place is at the information centre, you can't miss it as the giant guitar is standing out the front. The museum is $10.00 each and discounted for seniors. I not sure it is really for kids because most of the wax dummies were of old country singers and a lot of reading ( I could be wrong though). They have done it really well and lot of country singers have donated their guitars for the public pleasure. The girls were really friendly on the desk and very informative.
Karen Delsar — Google review
It was very busy but interesting, you need to go into the visitor centre to look at the other things they have on show in there. Friendly and didnt get to do much else as there was a wax museum aswell in there.

Australia loves its ‘big’ things and in the home of country music a giant golden guitar seems appropriate. There is a tourist information centre and small museum in the building beneath the guitar. Essential photo spot to mark your visit to Tamworth.

About a 500mt narrow gravel road to get to the spot of the main road. Great views from various boulder ledges which are easily accessed.

There were a few holes to watch out for but a normal 2WD can drive up the dirt road to reach this lookout without much trouble (in dry weather though). Roads from Nundle to Hanging Rock are bumpy but are being upgraded right now as of December 2021. Like someone else said, good view but Australia has plenty of these. Anyways, probably still worth a visit.

The Nundle Woollen Mill is a must visit. It is the only working woollen Mill in Australia. The tour takes you through the process from the raw wool through to coloured balls of yarn on the shelf. Nick the owner also talked about the history of the machines used. Very informative and interesting. The lady on the front counter was very welcoming and friendly. There was such a good variety of woollen products for sale.

What a beautiful shop. We had visited a few days ago.
A lovely range of woollen products. Especially great they stock Australian made Ugg Boots.
You can see the owners love their Mill and store. The informative video playing while you explore the shop was great.
I was disappointed the lady behind the counter didn’t say hello or make any eye contact. It didn’t feel a very friendly or welcoming vibe so I feel like I struggled to buy something. Greeting customers and giving a smile always goes a long way.

What a brilliant find ! Thanks to the information team at Tamworth, we ventured to Nundle to have a look around, and to visit this authentic woollen mill. Nick was our guide on the 2:00pm tour ($5, or free if you buy something in their extensive and wonderful shop). He was superb - engaging, entertaining, educational. Sandra demonstrated each stage of processing by operating several of the machinery on site. I ended up buying six balls of the most gorgeous, rich blue wool that Sandra had just wound into balls, a pair of needles and a Paton’s How To Knit book ! We loved our visit to Nundle and to the woollen mill, and highly recommend the trip. Thanks Nick and Sandra !

This family owned business is a treat to experience. We intended a visit five years ago but with bushfires raging down the coast we were forced to move on. Fast forward to 2024 , the visit did not disappoint. Our host Nick gave us a friendly and informative run-down of wool production from source to shelf. Everything was explained at a level everyone could appreciate. This is a hardworking, thoughtful, lovely couple and team who are doing their best to preserve the only accessible woollen mill in Australia, using totally Australian resources. Keep up the good work, guys! I’ll enjoy spinning your Tassie wool!

A great tour of the Nundle Woollen Mills. The tour was informative and captivating and we had a great tour guide. (Was the owner I think).
He walked us through the entire process of creating the product starting from the raw wool and taking us all the way through to the finished goods. Much of the process is carried out by vintage machines. It was fascinating to see how these machines have been preserved and maintained to create high quality wool products.
Great admission price & lovely products able to be purchased
I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone thinking of visiting the area. (And the staff are lovely).

We were originally going to have some holidays on the Mid North coast at Bonny Hills. This was the wife's idea to visit the Mill and take a tour .Being an avid wool lover . Who likes to purchase raw and sometimes greasy wool .That's another story .Then go through all the manual processes of washing, carding , spinning and dyeing .It will only be an extra day she said. The extra day equated to being an overnight stop in Tamworth and an additional 800km of travel on gravel roads and the Oxley Highway ! I digress not being a wool lover myself I still found the tour quite interesting . Conducted by the knowledgeable owner of the Mill. Not so much the wool processing but the fascinating antique industrial machinery . Unfortunately we were unable to witness the machines running due to an issue with work safe . However it was still well worth the detour and added adventure .The minimal fee for the tour can be recouped by any purchases. Keep the history alive all the best.
Picked a beautiful sunny autumn day to visit the Gunnedah Rural Museum. Have driven past it so many times and finally decided to stop in and have a nosey. It’s one of the best agricultural museums I’ve ever seen. So much to see - almost need a half day to take it all in. Lots of old school cars, trucks, farm equipment, steam engines and other memorabilia. Friendly, helpful staff too.

Amazing collection of various historical items, particularly machinery and farming equipment. Also maintained by a welcoming and helpful cohort of gentlemen who were extremely polite and generous with their local knowledge. Definitely worth a visit!

Totally awesome.
What bloke doesn’t like 3 acres of old machinery, cars, trucks and nostalgia.
Worth the visit.
Ensure you have at least 2-4 hours here depending on how much you read.

Werris Creek Railway Station is very old and steeped in rich history. If you have a history buff or steam train enthusiast in your family, it's well worth the visit.
Only $5 entry for adults, and children are FREE. The railway museum was an interesting exhibit, with very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable volunteers who share their genuine passion for the area with you as they show you around the museum.
See how the station operated from the early 20th Century, from the staff and track workers, to the station masters and cooks providing refreshment to weary travellers. Lots of artifacts on display from communication equipment, old seats, uniforms, lots of photos and plenty of stories from those who worked in the rail industry throughout the stations history.
Werris Creek is a beautiful, quiet village with stunning country scenery. It's not hard to find a good quality bite to eat, and there's a great children's playground built by the local Lion's Club.
If you fancy an adventurous way to get there, take the modern day XPT going through to Sydney that leaves at 10:27am from Tamworth train station and take the 40 minute train ride to Werris Creek (just make sure someone picks you up or you make plans to stay the day in this beautiful village otherwise the next train doesn't come back through from Sydney until 3pmish).
Amy Anderson — Google review
Dad and I spent about two hours here - what a treasure trove! You don't have to be a "train person" to enjoy it either, lots of social history about the town and NSW in general. The monument to workers killed on the job is sobering, and shows how far safety has come.
Neil McLennan — Google review
Wow. Excellent. After 3 trips around OZ, we're usually "museum'd out" but this one was worth stopping for. We both spent ages in here over the museum's two floors. The staff were super friendly and will explain certain rooms plus anything else you ask. You do not have to be a train buff to enjoy this place. Interesting history of Werris Creek Station plus facts, photos, videos, memorabilia, artifacts, etc. from all over NSW and elsewhere to do with the bygone age of "real" train travel.

This is one of the best heritage museums we have ever visited & all the volunteers who showed us around this amazing place were very friendly & knowledgeable & certainly went the extra mile to make our experience so memorable. Special thanks to Gwen for our tour & also Barb from the Gunnedah Visitor Centre, who let the team know we were going to visit & we are very appreciative of the wonderful, warm welcome we received.

Absolutely fantastic, a hidden gem. If railways are if interest, this is a must. One of the best features is personal guided tours by ex employees (in there mid 80's.) Loved the experience, thanks to everyone for a great experience.

Excellent museum on large working NSW Railway station.
Beautiful building, well presented exhibits and very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers.
Well worth a visit.
Peter Stokes — Google review
Even if you’re not into railway history, this museum gives you an idea of the growth of Werris Creek as a railway town which is part of the cultural history of the area. Given a guided tour by one of the staff there really opens up your appreciation of the exhibits, and for anyone interested in the operation of railways generally, will not go away disappointed after your hands on viewing of train timetable graphs, safe working equipment etc.
Excellent and friendly staff are eager to show you around and this place is a must to view.
Give yourself a good hour plus to fully appreciate the museum.
And don’t forget to see the brilliant model railway depicting Werris Creek!

A wonderful museum dedicated to the Werris Creek Railway and the people that were involved throughout its history. A fantastic display of history, artefacts and memorabilia including a outstanding model train set upstairs. Run by amazing volunteers that are more than happy to help. Highly recommend visiting this museum. Includes a display upstairs of how Werris Creek was transformed into "Torrance" for an Angelina Jolie movie.
Chris Boyadjian — Google review
We happened upon the museum accidenatally whilst passing though Werris Creek. We spent 2 hours thoroughly engrossed in the large array of railway memorabilia housed here. There is absolutely too much to take in during a single visit. This place is a credit to the community at Werris Creek in celebration of their rich railway heritage.

Sorry for the low rating. We pulled up in a caravan and was told we couldn't park where we were parked as 3 coaches were due. So there was no caravan parking and had to leave before even setting foot into the museum. Bit sad, really.

I missed seeing the museum as I was there on a day it was closed, but the Rail Monument and station are worth seeing in themselves. The sculptures and their stories are really interesting.

Great railway museum and memorial for the 2700 people who've lost their lives working on the railways of Australia since tge 1880s
Corine and the ground staff keep this beautiful area absolutely immaculate.
It's a $10 donation per night. Very affordable. It's needed to support your stay in beautiful natural surroundings.
Help maintain this stunning area with your donation.
Loads of level parking for RVs, campers, caravans of any size and tents, or bring your swag and look up at the stars.
Camp by the little creek that is always flowing, making for a beautiful nights sleep. Or camp under the trees and see all the resplendent bird life.
There are amenities kept by volunteers who do a wonderful job from money raised from your donations and for a much needed upgrade. Excellent disability access and amenities provided.
2x swimming holes in the little creek at the back of the camping grounds, perfect for toddlers.
The photos say it all how privileged we are that one mans dream with the help of many volunteers, made this special park in loving memory of most of our ancestors who came and built our Magnificent country Australia.
Chester Louie Patrick, 🐶 and Pip 🐶 and friends 🐶🐶 all agree it's a great place to go for walks and meet other lovely dogs. Don't forget to sign the visitors' book inside the main entrance.
Enjoy......🇦🇺...🇦🇺❤️ 💐🌹🌷🥀🌺😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful little park, nice place for a break from driving.
It was interesting to learn what the first settlers brought into Australia with them too.
While there was an accessible toilet, it was a bit dirty.
Sarah — Google review
Well kept grounds, donation run park. Toilets are clean and showers as well. Pet friendly cafe close by a little traffic noise early evening not late night so sleeping is not a problem. Great stop over.
Joy Hayne — Google review
Pretty park area for lunchtime stop or overnight. There are BBQ's, a tap and amenities. We just stopped for lunch and the view over the bushland complete with noisy cockies was nice. It comes up on you quick so be on the lookout.
aussirose travels — Google review
Excellent place for an overnight stop. Plenty of places to park. It would be good to have someone to clean amenities occasionally as it look as though they haven't been cleaned for weeks. We seen at least 20 people plus that were driving through stop to have a toilet break. Presentation is everything.

A new discovery for us is interesting that all the first fleet are named from ships crews to convicts. Park is a little bit tired and needs some minor work to be at its best.
Ray — Google review
What an outstanding place to see when some of my ancestors were First Fleeters gave a sense or pride to see it all as well as quite emotional at the same time. Took lots of pics.
Ended up staying 3 nights at the free camp here & gladly gave a donation for it as to have hot showers like that was simply amazing & with tap nearby I did my washing in a couple of buckets & hung it out to dry, lucky it fined up.
Very nice creek running by was very tranquil done listening to it & you got to love the local resident Magpie swooping everyone doing the protection thing as was feeding babies.
Terry — Google review
Interesting place lots of info about Australias first fleet from the UK .

Very interesting place, glad stopped. While memorial head stones told a story, it was a sad reflection on how our country began.
There is also a caravan park with toilets and showers for the free campers.
I also called into the friendly cafe in town for a yummy egg and bacon roll, fresh from the hot plate.
Will definitely stop there again if driving through.

Freedom camping provided by Liverpool Shire council. Clean public toilets with showers. Day use or overnight camping permitted. Donation box for assistance in providing, and maintaining these facilities.
Amenities very clean and tidy. Large grassed area beside creek for camping. Water available for filling tanks, but water restrictions in place, common sense re usage. Precious commodity,
Very well established gardens and display of the arrival of the First Fleet, with names of some passengers and crew. Very well constructed and informative. Playground available for children with swings, slippery dips etc. Some picnic tables available.

Great rest room, good camping - max 72hrs. $10 donation is very reasonable. Toilets and showers are good, were a bit dirty from kids chucking toilet paper but park very well looked after and great for camping. Has flat ground
Excellent park. Good variety of animals, and we were able to get up close to them. Great for the kids. Picnic and BBQ facilities. Excellent value.
Jacqueline Richardson — Google review
This place was amazing the kids loved it and was really cheap to get into Google is saying it's permanently closed now I hope that's not the case because I would definately go back there again when we are in town. There was a large variety of animals and they were all sponsored by local businesses which kept the prices down

The museum has a mix of items with lots of items from 1920's to 60's. At entry you don't realise how big the place is! We spent an hour in there. The museum displays variety of interesting items from computers to dolls to cars and lot's more.
The entry tickets are reasonably priced.

The museum is definitely worth your time to stop and visit.
It is surprisingly large and has an extensive collection of items through NSWs history.
Even if museums are not your thing, you should give this museum a visit, you will likely find something that catches your interest.

The museum spans half a block and was bigger than we expected! It holds lots of interesting relics and insightful history! Can easily get lost wandering in their many buildings and recreations. A definite must visit while in Gulgong 👍
Daniel Chan — Google review
A great experience, so much to see here, great collections of just about everything, so allow yourself the best part of the day for your visit and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your water but don't bring any other bags etc as there's a lot of walking with minimal places to sit or rest. Your ticket does allow you to leave and come back same day if you wish. We went across the road to the RSL for $10 Chinese lunch.

A wonderful museum, full of history about Henry Lawson. A great place full of information, photos and documents about Mr Lawson. Helpful staff always willing to assist. A gem of a museum very worthy of a visit.
Small museum devoted to Henry Lawson. Lots of art work matched to his poetry, which I really enjoyed. It was fabulous to see something apart from a heritage museum in a country town. Congratulations to the volunteers who put this together and to those who maintain it!

Best winery out of the 10 we went to on our trip. The abundant tasting platter which matched with the wines was a nice touch which elevated the experience. Along with the great customer service and in-depth information, the entire experience was amazing. The wines were fantastic too, of course.

Wow I have no words to describe this place. Tony owns and runs this place and he is just so lovely. We did a tasting with complimentary food pairing and it was beyond our imagination. I've tried wines from all over Australia (literally) and this place was spectacular. Thank you Tony for introducing an avid red wine drinker to Chardonnay. I can't wait for my next wine delivery!!

We had the most amazing experience at Short Sheep! They were very accommodating and thoughtful with a tasting platter with matching snacks for every wine we tasted.

We came here two days in a row! We did the camp fire with wine tasting, toasted Marshmallows, Mulled wine and a delicious beef hot pot with baked potato for... only $30 per person!!! Such an amazing experience! The owners Sue and Tony were super friendly and full of life! We came back the next day to buy a few bottles their delicious wine. We also got to mingle with the resident cats (Truffles) and Ayra the Maremma 😊 If in the area I highly recommend you go in for a tasting!

We visited this small winery and stayed in their accommodation back in 2015. Lovely couple who ran it and lovely time. Wines were good then. We just had a 2013 Syrah and the wine has become better with age, very smooth. Worth the wait to have this bottle. If you are in Mudgee this small winery is one that should be on your list.

This was one of our favourite wineries/experiences in Mudgee. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner. We had an amazing tasting with some pairing bites to eat. The owner clearly cares and is passionate about the wine he produces. The wine was amazing, as was the experience of the wine tasting. We left there buying a few bottles of wine and we will definitely be keeping an eye out for what they do in the future.
The wine tasting was such a lovely experience from start to finish, customer service was also fantastic and the staff really took the time to explain the wines to us. Their selection tasted great and the winery grounds were absolutely beautiful on a summer's day. Easily the most beautiful winery in Mudgee and a must visit for a any visitors in the area.

We had a wonderful afternoon and would thoroughly recommend.
We did the Deluxe Picnic Hamper and added some wines on the day. All very easy to order online; though they were very well organised so you could do in-person. Food was delicious and very generous portions - good value for money.
Lots of beautiful gardens to wander and seating is spaced out to enjoy the scenes.

We had a wonderful day with our child and dog, we couldn't have felt more welcome. The two of us enjoyed the 6-course evening meal from start to finish. We went to Lowe's after reading a review for dog friendly wineries.
We arrived on a Sunday late morning the staff were amazing and helpful the wine was fantastic they asked a preference of our wine and adjusted the tasting for us and I'm fairly certain we were given more options than was offered on the $15 tasting menu with included a small cheese and baguette slices board and happily spent up on wine before we left would definitely go back and next book as weekends can get busy we were lucky to walk in it was a quiet day we stayed for close to 2 hours enjoying the view and wine

We joined my brother & his wife at Zin House for lunch! 😋 We had our own private room which was great. A bit pricey for what you get but it was a great experience. We finished off at Lowe Cellar where David Lowe sat us for a last minute wine tasting even though they were closing. We enjoyed the hospitality, David made the time to chat with us even though there was a wedding in their vineyard that day and they were so busy! 🙏😍

WOW! What a pleasure to have stumbled across this family owned winery. This is my first go in Australia and I’ve got to say, this wine exceeded anything else I’ve tasted while traveling the last few months.
The warm welcomes, education on process, generosity in tastings, phenomenal flavor profiles, and especially fun energy from the entire staff, I couldn’t be happier I visited. Left with a couple bottles, the Cabernet Franc has herbaceous rich notes that we are eager to pair with a delicious steak dinner soon. Never had a Cab like it. What an impression, I’ve made sure to keep this place in my winery references for other friends! Thank you!

I have visited and tested more than 15 wineries in NSW, but this one is the worst. We booked our slot three days before going there. They told us to wait outside until they had free tables, and we waited for almost an hour. Then they asked us to wait for an additional 40 minutes or make an online payment for a bottle. Frustrated, we left without experiencing any wine tasting and ended up paying an extra $10 for the bottle. We came all the way from Sydney for this, and it completely wasted and ruined our journey that day. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
A welcoming and great winery with some of the best views! Tastings are $10pp for your choice of a curated selection and refundable upon purchases. Make sure to grab a picnic mat to sit outside and soak in the amazing views. Will definitely return when we’re in the area.

One of the most enjoyable cellar door experiences in all of Australia:
The winemaker takes the tastings and is knowledgeable without being pretentious
The view is amazing
You can have a glass of wine on the hill after the tasting
They remove the tasting charge off if you buy a bottle of wine (like cellars doors used to do before Covid!!!)
It was the Easter weekend and they had a live acoustic artist and locale chef come in to make amazing seafood casual lunch options.
We loved every single wine we tried (but that’s up to personal preference).

Just 4-5 minutes out of town. Amazing array of honey products, not just for eating. Skin care exfoliator and moisturiser makes my skin softer than a baby's. Honey mead is not my cup of tea but must be good, the old boy bought 3 bottles of it. Small cafe for lunch or morning tea. Worth a look

Gorgeous selection of honeys and honey-related products: candles, mead, cosmetics; bee-themed tea towels, aprons and canvas bags and so on. Also a coffee shop offering good, sturdy coffee and various baked goods.

Absolutely lovely honey producer! This is a Must visit when you are in town!
Their meads are also great tasting too!
So glad we've bought a big box of honey filled with different selections.

What a hidden gem!
Well worth pulling in and sampling the huge range on offer, not just honey.
Left happy with a box full of items.

Great shop with so many products related to honey and bees wax. There’s a central honey tasting area, a sample of lotions and scrubs, and a cafe that sells honey flavoured ice creams which were delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful, always asking if you need any help. They’re quite funny too even when having problems with the credit card machines. Made for a nice little shopping trip.

Very friendly staff to serve the honey mead tasting and the products. An unique honey ice cream made by chef is selling here! Love it very much.

I really like this place, you can taste different types of honey in here. They also offer wines and non-alcoholic drinks made from honey which are awesome! They sell souvenirs, skin cares from honey. One thing you must try is their honey ice cream! But the ice cream has egg ingredients so be careful if you are allergic to eggs.

A lovely place with super friendly and knowledgeable staff… you will find alcohols and spirits produced with honey… so unique and memorable experience… you can taste different varieties of honey and test different skin care products made with honey too along with honey mead tastings. we loved the spiced honey mead and bee care exfoliator… you will also get non- alcoholic honey based sparkling drinks… kids loved it… and something different to regular wine tasting experience…

Great shop, awesome tastings and lots of great products. Worth a visit.
Picturesque, free-admission garden with 4 areas, including a traditional Japanese landscape garden.
We visited the Shoyoen Japanese Garden, which forms part of the Botanical gardens. It was beautiful. The gardens are well maintained, and there are some interesting trees and plants. The small lake is idyllic with its little waterfall, birdlife and Koi fish. There is a replica Japanese house which can be viewed from the outside. There is no charge to explore the garden which provides a restful retreat, particularly for tourists such as my wife and I. I recommend finding the time to spend an hour at these beautiful gardens.

Beautiful gardens to wander through. Japanese gardens include ducks, carp, Lilly pads and waterfall. Sensory garden includes vertical growing walls with strawberries, lemon trees, and a vegetable patch, lavender, stepping stones across a pond and more.

A step away from the everyday, yet right on Dubbo’s doorstep. I instantly felt like I was transported to Japan, and I loved it! A great place to come and get in touch with nature and to clear out your head!

Very nice gardens, the Japanese and Sensory gardens are very well manicured and look amazing. There are huge Koi fish in the ponds of the Japanese garden. Not a big garden but very beautiful nonetheless. Well worth a visit while in Dubbo.

Beautiful gardens. Absolutely loved exploring them. The playground right next to them is EXCELLENT! One of the best I've ever seen. Kids loved it.

It is a lovely serene place. I dashed around with an umbrella, leaping over puddles while admiring the Japanese section.
One day I hope to go back when the sun is shining. The plants were happy in the rain !

Such a tranquil garden setting as soon as you enter the gates. Smell the sweet perfume of the beautiful wisteria, listen to the sound of running water, and enjoy the sheer beauty of this hidden oasis.

Beautiful free attraction. Really well looked after with so many aspects of the gardens to look at. Very easy to walk around even with someone elderly with a walker. We visited in April but could easily see the hard work getting ready for spring. A wide range of bird life and a huge parking area. There are public bathrooms in the wonderful park located right next to the gardens.

Delightful little gardens, including a Japanese garden, and a biodiverse section which is pretty interesting. It is very relaxing wandering about and there are some benches to sit and reflect. Good fish in the ponds too. Well worth a visit. Also the adventure playground is next door for the kids to cut loose.

We spent the morning here on the way out of Dubbo and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the Gardens especially the Japanese Shoyoen Garden. A lovely space to stroll or relax. Some nice areas to sit and enjoy. Definitely worth a look.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Experience in Dubbo offers an immersive and interactive journey into the world of the heroic doctors, nurses, pilots, and Outback communities. This technologically advanced center opened in 2019 and provides a comprehensive look at the history and expansion of the RFDS. Visitors can learn about its various bases, expansion into dental surgery vans, mental health services, and see real-time data of where planes are traveling to.
Great displays and information. Had lunch at the cafe, burger and chips more than enough. Bought some things at the shop all profits go back into supporting the RFDS. Staff very friendly and know their stuff.

This is an AMAZING experience for young and old. The information boards and the interactive displays are extremely well done and the staff are ALL absolutely wonderful. There is so much RFDS history and so much for the little ones to see and experience at every corner! We visited for about an hour but could have easily doubled that. The cafe closed at 3 so we missed out on a coffee unfortunately ☕️
The souvenirs shop is well stocked with well priced options for every budget!
Thank you for a great afternoon

A great facility though the echo from people talking in the huge shed makes it difficult to read and concentrate on what you're looking at. The interactive attractions are fabulous. It was nice to learn about how the RFDS all started and to read and watch how the RFDS has helped people who are isolated and in need of help. I would have loved to learn more about the people that work there, how they deal with the unknown, how many people go to incidents and how they decide how many to send, qualifications of staff, how you can get involved, what roles there are and what paths you take to get employment with the RFDS. It was also frustrating that the interactive screens in front of the main screen go off during the "movie". I was half way through one when it went off. They were the last things we had left to do but not enough time to stay through the movie to do it...I love in alice springs they have a cockpit you can climb through. I assumed it might be the same at dubbo but it's not.
The people working here though were very nice.

Hands down a absolute highlight of our visit to Dubbo. So unbelievably informative, interactive experience not only for children, but definitely for adults. The short video of actual people helped by RFDS was great. Seeing real time data of where planes were travelling to was really interesting. Helpful people available for any questions you may have. Nice cafe available to have a sneeky drink and snack.
Highly recommend. Don't forget to make a small donation to keep this amazing service in the air.

Fabulous exhibition space, interactive displays, great use of technology to get their message across. I learnt so much about this crucial service and its history. The volunteers were passionate about their job and very friendly. Thank you Flying Doctors service for all you do to support rural and isolated communities. Very worthwhile activity when visiting Dubbo. Highly recommend it for all age groups.

We had a lazy late afternoon visit, and would recommend that you leave a little more time, especially if you haven't got little kids - there was plenty of things for them to interact with and enjoy the experience, but oh so much detail that older children and adults can absorb. The guided experience was so welcome, with experts able to point out things we didn't notice by ourselves. The gift shop is filled with all the things you want to buy, top quality and very enticing, but not an obnoxious maze you need to navigate in order to leave either. I could have sat and enjoyed the live update map for quite some time. A lovely cool oasis and extremely informative on life and innovation in our non urban areas.

Great place to visit in dubbo! If like me you are prone to getting emotional, pack your tissues- some of the stories will make you ball your eyes out.
Perfect for learning more about the RFDS and teaching group the kids about the importance of this amazing service.
The volunteers are amazing and help your experience to be fantastic.

It is easy for city residents to go to a hospital. But for regional residents the nearest hospital might be hundreds of miles away. Any emergency or life and death situations, every minute is crucial. Flying doctor service is an important part of regional living and an essential service for maintaining wellbeing of regional residents. The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Experience was fun and interactive. I support the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Highly recommended

Strong recommendation if you're in Dubbo for a weekend.
It's a fantastic way to spend a few hours. Includes heaps of different content - interactive displays, videos, information boards, functional replicas, memorabilia... You name it. And it showcases an underappreciated service that has positively impacted so many Australians. Get around it.

This an absolutely fabulous place to visit! The cafe was lovely, with great food and drinks at reasonable prices. They have a number of gluten and dairy free options, and lactose free milk available.
The information centre is well worth the entry fee, with fantastic displays, interesting information and a great video presentation. I was especially pleased to see that all the video resources were captioned! They also have wonderful volunteer guides to show you around and give you additional information about the history and current operations of the RFDS, which we loved!
They have excellent toilet facilities, including an accessible bathroom with a spot for you to put your bag down!

Located at Dubbo Airport near RFDS Dubbo Operations.
The exhibition has interactive displays, and tells the history and current goals of the RFDS. It does this through displays and augmented reality experiences. This includes aviation, showing current and past aircraft. Communications, where you can try a pedal powered radio, or see where any one of the current fleet of 70 aircraft are based or on a current mission right now at this moment.
The experience also explains the other support services, patent transfers, dental truck, operations and administration.
There is a great Cafe on site, where you can have refreshment, a meal or a snack next to one of its retired actual planes, a Fox Moth.
RFDS Visitor Experience have a well stocked gift shop, and I would say it has a great selection of shirt, jackets, and memorabilia items that you can take away and actually use.
It's just a great experience.

We had a really great time visiting the RFDS and was amazed by all the displays. We learnt so much about the important work by the RFDS and our community is extremely lucky to have such a wonderful service. The staff were absolutely lovely and gave us a personal tour, including the upper viewing deck of the airfield. Thank you to our doctors, nurses and volunteers who truly go above and beyond to give such exceptional health care and service.

We had a very humbling experience from our visit of the RFDS at Dubbo. The effort that goes in providing top class health care services to our remote outback is just amazing. The displays at the centre were very informative and easily understandable. The staff was corteous and very respectful as well as patient with our questions. Hats off to all the doctors, nurses and staff involved with the RFDS.

RFDS provides a life saving and in some circumstances, a mobile medical treatment (akin to a GP visit) services. Highly underfunded, though one of the most important medical services in our country. A little disappointed Alice Springs was not so referenced because ASP played an integral part of RFDS infancy days. *** PLEASE buy something from their gift shop, as ALL proceeds go to the RFDS.... Enjoy your visit :-)
Guided tours, interactive exhibits & re-enactments offered in a penitentiary used from 1847–1966.
We enjoyed our visit here, really interesting to learn about the history of this jail. The shows at 10am and 11am were entertaining and informative, went for about 30min each which maybe was a little too long. We ended up being here for around 1.5 hours but would have been less if shows were not on as took us around 45min or so to wander through the buildings. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Dubbo for a couple of days or more.

a small gaol with some different buildings. It was quite interesting to visit, but we found it is too touristy (got a bit crowded at few areas). It is good to check during a visit at Dubbo. We did not visit it last time we went there so we decided to check it this time as we purchased Dubbo Experiences (discounted tickets bundled with Zoo and Royal Flying Doctor). The street parking is only 1 hour so we did not spend too much time there.

Absolutely 5 out of 5. The Old Dubbo Gaol was so much fun. The kids absolutely loved
the two very informative performances, the staff were wonderful, had great knowledge of the history of the gaol and were very funny and engaging. You can walkthrough and explore all parts of the gaol at your own pace. Staff were always available to answer any questions. The ticket multiple entry and exits within the same day. Parking was 1 hr street parking.

Blew my mind. If you are Into architecture or Australian history this is a must visit.
Created with a friendly smile and great customer service interaction from Jordan? (well, the cash register said it was Jordan serving us).
Children are given a workbook and must think of clues and information within the kail and fill it out as they go. It's got some easy questions and some you need to think about. All the clues are within the facility tho.
Having served as a real Goal in its life it's rather moving and haunting to step into some of the cells. Be warned tho, though you don't know who you might run into.
Just when you are on your self-guided journey something interesting happens. I don't want to give away all the details but make sure you participate and watch what occurs. You might be lucky enough to be picked on by the Goal's very own prison officer, enough about that tho.
The Goal also has a very small gift shop filled with some great gifts so you can take home a memory from this amazing visit you will have.
Prices are affordable and reasonable. I would recommend you make this an attraction you don't miss out on. It's a true part of Australian history and the workers do take pride and this facility and their work.

Had a great visit to Old Dubbo Goal today. Attended the 3pm escapees talk with my hubby and two kids (10 & 7). The historian who presented was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and charismatic, he kept all the children and adults entertained for the best part of an hour. Highly recommended.

We loved Dubbo Gaol. The history is so interesting, We especially liked the displays, the structures and the buildings that have been preserved. Unfortunately, there was some sort of school excursion on the day. The noise totally spoilt the presentation and the atmosphere. Fortunately, we had visited the Gaol previously, so we knew what to expect. We suggest that you check with the Gaol before you plan your visit. It is well worth a visit.
John Gadsdon — Google review
A very interesting introspective into the dark side of Australian history. Very confronting at times. You’d be surprised what would have constituted a crime that would put you in the gaol back then. Some heartbreaking stories, as well as some ‘amusing’ facts, quotes and anecdotes. Obviously well maintained. A reverent place that I personally wouldn’t take children under the age of 12/13 to, as some of the younger children that were there (I thought) weren’t respectful of the history of the grounds.
Overall a great experience and one I think everyone should be made aware of. History that should be respected and learned from.

Tells the story of lives and living conditions of prisoners held in different jails across NSW. Prison is restored as a museum.
Tickets costs a 22.5$ per person and in my opinion it’s bit expensive.
Place is carefully managed and pretty clean.

Right in the middle of town so easy to find.
Easy to get tickets and pay.
Friendly and helpful staff.
The gaol has been restored to a point where it is easy to understand the history and hardship of the inmates and prison officers.
There is an mobile online walk through of the exhibits along with a printed copy. Each physical area of interest has a summary near its entrance. It helps you get a feeling of life as an inmate and officer only worse.
There is an air conditioned area for smaller exhibits, e.g., batons, hanging ropes, and lots more. Plus it has movies / slides to help you visualise the experiences and how the items were used.
The buildings are real and displayed with the real inmates and wardens identities and stories.

Was fascinating. Very informative, great staff very friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome.
Great show they put on. We went during the school holidays. My boys are still talking about it and bragging about being chosen as a volunteer in the show. Great actors, too, wonderful work, ladies.
Wonderful place, highly recommend a visit. The history is a little dark and sad, but it's great to know how far jails have come since then.
Definitely put this as a stop on your itinerary, allow an hour or 2, and definitely bring a camera. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you get there as it opens, and there should be a short wait time.

Nice but could be more interactive. Takes 30-40 min to see everything. A lot of pictures with text that you have to read about each prisoner and their stories, we got bored of reading.
Santa St — Google review
Entering the Dubbo Gaol to the very theatrical performance by Billy is a very neccesary and light hearted way to take the edge off what you are about to see. To say the Gaol captures a dark side of Australian History is an understatement. You feel it in the walls of the cells, in the photos and stories of the former prisoners, the eyes of the executed and certainly from the artifacts used in daily life there including for the executions. A sombre and at times frightful journey. But a fact of life.
Make sure to watch the interactive performance by the actors beforehand as it really does balance the whole experience.
Well done to all staff. Highly recommended.
Established in 1977, this 300-hectare open-range zoo features animals from around the world.
We had an amazing experience at the zoo! The fallow deer was a standout as we happened to be there at feeding time.
The zoo was busy in the morning but from about 2:30 onwards a calm descended over the zoo and it was wonderful.
We went back a second day because we loved it so much.

We had a great time at the Zoo. Driving around takes about 3hrs to see most of the exhibits but not rushing. Next time we will be going using the electric buggies and would recommend going this way if you have a family or small group.
The animals appear to have great enclosures with lots of space to roam, not feeling trapped. They all look well taken care of.
There’s plenty to look at and the information on available to learn digitally about the exhibits is handy. More QR codes with text sites or videos would be appreciated.
Take the day and explore this awesome zoo.

Great zoo experience. We booked tickets online and a golf cart to drive around the zoo. Booking online enables you to largely skip the ticket queues. Hire times are from 9am - noon and 1pm -4pm. Whilst the carts are fun, you are competing for parking around the exhibits with other carts and cars. If it's not a rainy day it's better to hire one of their bikes or ride your own. That way you can ride right up to the exhibits. The Cafe serves delicious food and the gift shop has items for all budgets.

This is one of the nicest, prettiest, well laid out and presented zoos that we have ever been to. We decided to walk around the zoo, rather than drive a car, hire a buggy or a push bike. We loved the way that the open enclosures were set out, giving you the feeling that you were seeing the animals in the wild. The highlight of our visit? Going into the lion enclosure. What a fabulous experience seeing these magnificent animals up so close. Thank you so much for a fabulous experience.

Great zoo, friendly staff, and way to see all the exhibits. Recommend the bike hire. The bikes are well maintained, have disc breaks, and no need for gears as the paths and roads are flat. Only criticism is the signage can send you round in circles and or back to the start.

What a wonderful experience we had at the Toronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.
We hired a golf cart to get around which was great. Unfortunately I booked the AM session twice by accident and the incorrect booking was not refundable. Next time we would use our own vehicle to travel around the park (which you can do) but at least we had fun in the cart and can tick it off our bucket list. Along with feeding the giraffes 🦒. This experience is definitely worth the extra fee.
Keeper talks are informative and you can tell from the enthusiasm in their voice that they love their job and the animals they care for.
Whilst there are 2 places to eat and vending machines at picnic spot, I definitely recommend bringing your own food, snacks and cold drinks.
Our teenage children loved the experience and close they could get to most of the animals.
We will be talking about the memories we made today for a long time to come.

A significant place for families to have fun there. Animals all have prominent places to play and live, that's important for them. There are many kinds of animals, from giraffes, hippos, and rhinos to sea otters, tigers, and lions……
It would help if you wear comfortable shoes, because there is a long way to walk. But you can hire/take a bike if you can ride; it will be a brilliant idea.
Just remember to bring enough water on a hot day. It's hard to find a water fountain, or maybe they don't have one. Purchasing a bottle of water from the machine costs $7.70.

Had an absolute awesome time, would definitely recommend to anyone of any age. We had our two kids both under 3 and the grandparents and everybody had a ball. It works out cheaper of you get tickets online, there is concession prices available and kids under 3 are free. You can hire a 6 seater cart to drive around the zoo with the option of putting your kids car seats in the cart. There was also bikes available for hire if you wanted to have a ride around the zoo. Your able to drive your own vehicle or walk as well. I really loved how natural it was, there wasn't really cages rather open areas with appropriate fencing suited to that animal, with quite a few having motes around them. We had the cart for the day which I found was a good amount of time with kids to see all the animals, as you have to walk to a lot of them from the parking bays they have.

Great zoo with plenty of things to see.
Carts were good with room for only one car seat though and only 3 hours seems a bit short for the amount of attractions.
Bikes with kid seats and trailers seem like the better option for families to have the full day.
Decent food available and good gift shop.

We had the most amazing time at Dubbo zoo today. There are many different ways of getting around the zoo you can drive your car, hire a cart or bike but we chose to walk around. The enclosures were spaced apart well and noticed the animals were well looked after. The animals were all amazing and I cant wait to come back again sometime soon!

We really enjoyed our day at the Zoo! Animals clearly looked after very well, loved the layout, and the carts and bikes made it much easier to get around. One of our family did the hippo encounter which was amazing. We also did the safari which we all enjoyed.
A few bits of feedback though:
Even with the cart there was a lot of walking required to see things (which having an ankle injury I struggled quite a bit more than I expected to with a cart). Not being able to go backwards in the cart meant we had to park and walk back to some exhibits as the talks didn’t align with the animal encounters we booked.
There is not enough water refill stations and we ran out of water (it was hot and we packed 3 large bottles which wasn’t enough to get between taps to refill).
The map on the app isn’t great - the paper one is much easier to use.
Take hats and plenty of sunscreen/long sleeved shirt as there’s not a lot of shade to take refuge under.
The hire bikes are great, but there are none with training wheels and our daughter was too big for the bike trailer. We ended up having to get a cart instead which was fine but a lot more expensive.

We absolutely loved a day at the Open-Plan Safari Zoo. The freedom to drive through the zoo in your own vehicle adds an adventurous twist to the traditional zoo visit.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the option to hire golf carts or bicycles, providing convenient and eco-friendly ways to explore the expansive grounds. For those who prefer a leisurely stroll, walking paths wind through the zoo.
The zoo’s regular animal shows provide captivating entertainment for visitors of all ages. There are many picnic facilities and a food shop on the premises. A visit to this zoo was surely a memorable experience for us all.

Such a cool zoo with environmental and conservation measure and efforts in place. The best way to enjoy the zoo (especially in the heat of summer) is to drive your car through. They also have buggy’s for rent as well as bikes if you are feeling up for it. My favourites were the rhinos and the tortoises. Must say that the australia exhibits were really lacking compared to the rest of the park

Amazing zoo, lots of animals, can get pretty hot in the summer but easy to navigate around. They also offer bike option and golf cart. A beautiful place to visit with your family! Having a Zoo Friends family pass allowed us unlimited entry into the park so we could take our time to go around with the little ones.
If you can, I’d recommend visiting from age 1 up as the little one can ride with n adult on the bike or cart. It makes getting on and off a breeze without the hassle of buckling and unbuckling them from a car seat.
Also I 100% recommend staying onsite for at least a night, again with kids it allows you to take the time to explore without the rush. We stayed at the Zoofari Lodge which was pricy but absolutely worth it at least once, especially in the animal view room where you can sit back and watch the rhinos sleeping, giraffes eating. It includes a behind the scenes tour in the afternoon where you can feed giraffes, a morning tour seeing elephants bathe and a drive inside the safari to see the animals up close. My little one loved it! Also recommended for at least 2.5 years up so the little ones can understand and appreciate it better.
Dinner was a mini banquet style dinner, for us being big eaters with was on the lighter side and a tad sweet for our preference but still enjoyed it. They were also able to accommodate dietaries the best they can. Breakfast was more filling as we could add on items, they had a option for pancake & full English breakfast, I had both 🙈
I only wish the check out was later so we could enjoy the view for longer, so I do suggest if you can skip one of the tours just so you can take time to enjoy the views especially if it’s winter where the sun goes down earlier.
Staff were all wonderful and hard workers! Doing the tours and serving us at dinner/breakfast.
Would go again!

Amazing wildlife experience, you can walk, ride a bike, hire an electric buggy or drive your vehicle around the 5km of roads and tracks. The ticket is valid for two days. Well worth it when in Dubbo. We spent the day driving around the zoo with our own car. The animals have so much room that you can see how happy and healthy they are. We did the hippo experience with zoo keeper Glyn he was amazing it was one of the best animal experiences ever learned so much about these beautiful animals and got to feed them up close, we also did the safari tour with Kate she was amazing. The whole day here, and it was filled with unforgettable memories. We highly recommend this zoo.

Such a lovely zoo, you can hire bikes, safari cart (seats 6) or drive round the zoo. We hired the bikes, with a baby seat. It's a work out but worth it. You don't have to park and keep hoping out and in.
Only downside was that we needed to get back by half 3 to get the bikes back but the park doesn't close until 4, we found that we had to rush round the end of the park.
What was really cool at the time was the hospital was showing a lion on the table that was getting a check over. Super awesome.
This Is a must see if you are in the area

Highly recommend doing the early walk pre-opening as a great way to see much of the zoo and get a nice insiders perspective before all the crowds. The volunteers are very friendly and insightful and do a great job of guiding the group around with the commentary.
If you come during Easter, get in early! Unsurprisingly very very popular but worth visiting if you’re in the area.
Buy tickets online to save time and get a bit of a discount.

Just do this and enjoy the moments.
You need more than a few hours. It’s around 5kms long but you need to stop often and read the QR code information about each amazing animal.
You’ll be amazed at the array of animal the park has and seeing them in a relaxed natural environment.
Staff are fun and informative.
You can bike, cart, tour and self-drive yourself around each point.
A few toilet spots throughout and a cafe also.
Absolutely worth visiting the whole day!

Really enjoyed it. Went Easter Saturday. Was very, very busy. The zoo layout handled it, though. We drove our car, got out at each area, and had a look. Was a warm day, and some animals had retreated to the shade. But hey, you can't control these things.Canteen struggled with the high volume of people, especially as a lot of people waited till they got to the cashier before deciding what they wanted. It was very frustrating, especially for the staff. I was in awe of their patience 👏👏👏
A great place for child and adult alike.

Fantastic for the family. Stayed in the savannah cabins for a few nights and is so worth the money for the serenity. Was a very immersive experience and being so up close to all the wildlife is phenomenal. Best zoo I have been to so far. All my kids loved the experience! Will be back again absolutely!

It was an amazing experience driving our own car inside the zoo! The animals living there have plenty of room to roam around and they seem to be quite happy :) There was a long queue at the entrance though (better to purchase tickets online before arrival).
Very interesting tour for all ages. Our tour guide Bec was lovely and catered the tour for old and young adventurers alike. There are also other activities besides the tours that are accessible for free including a bush walk with marked fossil sites and an information centre. An excellent day trip

Unable to prebook tickets. I arrived just before it opened and somehow it was booked out until 10:30am. We decided to wait around but unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. The tour guide was amazing though. He was genuinely passionate about his job, loved sharing all his knowledge of the caves and was great with all the kids on the tour (even the bratty ones).

I didn't stay here, I was on a day visit to the Caves.
A well set visitor centre. The fossil walk could be improved.
The cave tours are excellent. The visitors centre is great, food and souvenirs as well as plenty of local info.

Good beginner caves for kids. Not super impressive if you’ve been to many caves before, but staff is really well trained to entertain and engage with the public and it made the experience really memorable. For only 1 cave, I thought the price was a bit high, though.

Fantastic experience. Unfortunately only the Gaden cave was open when we went (we would love to have seen these other caves), but the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Thanks to our guide Paul who was very knowledgeable and friendly.
We will definitely be back to see the other caves once they open.

Cathedral Cave was a great first time cave experience for our children (11 and 13). The cave goes down quite deep with the grand finale being a small well filled with beautiful blue water.

Our family joined the Cathedral Tour and it was perfect. From the moment we were arrived, we were greeted with friendly staff at the counter. Try to arrive earlier to check out the free exhibition in the centre.
We joined the last tour at 3.30pm on 28/12 and the guide, Bec (I think that's her name) was brilliant!! She shared so much information and plenty of Q&A.
Plenty of stairs to climb but it was broken down in sections so you won't feel too tired. So many fascinating sights and facts. Again, credit to the tour guide for her excellent story telling.
Definitely a must do attraction in this area.

A hidden gem. I cannot believe we nearly
Missed this. Such history for the area… with a fabulous guide that as very interesting and engaging. The caves a beautiful. Make sure you have covered in shoes, but the walk is not to challenging… it does have a few steps, which is to be expected.

Not great access for disabled. Over 100 steps after walking up a steep incline before being able to go to caves. I understand that they are caves and it is understandable that people with walking difficulty should forget it. There is a nice Japanese walk next to the centre and we enjoyed that. The staff in the centre were very friendly and we had coffees and 1 blueberry muffin between us! My sister in law’s idea as we don’t need the calories but the bit I had was delicious.

You need to book during school holidays. I only rated this 1 ⭐️ so this I for would come up.
The museum is small but has a great interactive video work and a great megafauna skeleton.
They also have a great free self guided fossil walk which is flat about 800m loop. 20 to 40 mins
Thirdly they have a Japanese garden which is free and good for 20min look around or a picnic (no picnic tables)
Kids play ground next visitor Center too

Great caving experience, with 2 caves to choose from, tours leave at different times and are limited to certain numbers of people, so best to check online for tour times before attending. Our tour guide Emma was fabulous, she is very knowledgeable and made the whole experience great, she particularly engaged the little kids and kept their interest throughout the hour long tour. Nice facilities onsite with a cafe and information centre.

We stayed here in our Caravan. It was a lovely caravan park. The amenities were lovely and clean and the showers were great with plenty of water pressure. We didn’t go through the caves this time as we had our little fur baby with us but we have been through them last time we were here and really enjoyed them. The Japanese Gardens are across the road. These are just beautiful and peaceful.
Orange Botanic Gardens is a well-maintained and spacious botanical garden with various themed plantings, a pond, playground, and an interactive sundial. It features beautiful sculpture gardens and lakes that provide peaceful surroundings ideal for reflection. The garden boasts of having apple, pears, and many other fruit trees bearing fruits in season. Additionally, it is home to turtles, ducks, birds making it an excellent place to spend time with family or hold events such as weddings and picnics.
Good place to spend time with your kids and family. Excellent scenery especially apple, pears and many other trees bearing fruit in the season.

Visited during summer and felt that this would be so much better to visit during Autumn or winter.
The park is good but is no match for the Botanical gardens in Sydney. You are better off going to Cook Park.
But if you happen to be here, do enjoy it. Plenty of photography locations inside.

Beautiful garden to have a nice walk. Kid and dog friendly. A must visit on autumn. Just look at the beautiful trees!! A nice and huge playground nearby, and a cute little cafe that provides outdoor seating as well. They made beautiful coffee and food. Too bad we were there after lunch so they have ran out of stuffs that we wanted to try. Would love to visit the garden when it's snowing!

Beautiful and close to the city centre. In autumn they have a few bunch of very beautiful colorful trees but the rest are mostly native and evergreen. Not sure about the spring flowers

An amazing array of Aussie flora. Large grounds. Easy to walk around. A relaxing, calming place to go. Well cared for and inviting.

When we visited the botanical gardens in Orange, we were initially surprised by the abundance of evergreen trees instead of the traditional autumn colours we had expected. However, we quickly realized that the lush greenery was just as beautiful.
One unexpected surprise was the number of fruit trees in the garden. We were delighted to see a variety of fruit trees throughout the gardens. It was a unique and enjoyable experience that we didn't expect to find in a botanical garden.
The garden's dog-friendly policy was also a plus, and we enjoyed seeing other people walking their pets. The park was peaceful and serene, and we appreciated the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while.
Overall, while the botanical gardens in Orange may not have had the traditional autumn colours we were expecting, we found the lush greenery and abundance of fruit trees to be a wonderful surprise. It's definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and looking for a peaceful place to take a walk, especially if you're a dog owner.

More like a huge park than a botanic garden with mainly Australian flora
Autumn would be the best time to go, as I'm sure the colours would be vibrant
Great place to relax and read

What a beautiful botanic gardens! We didn't have time to see it all, but I loved the thoughtful collections. I especially loved the rosacea collection, the apple and pear orchard with windmill and the weeping elm. I look forward to seeing more next time. Plenty of spots to sit and enjoy. Bathroom facilities and cafe nearby. Looking forward to visiting again.

Cook Park is a Victorian-era city park that offers a variety of attractions including an aviary, Begonia glass house, and fernery. The park is well-maintained and offers free entry with plenty of parking available around its perimeter. It's a great place to spend time with family and friends, especially for children who will enjoy the fountain, pond, swing and birds. Regular events are held throughout the year in addition to the seasonal Begonia display.
Loved this garden. It has many attractions such as an aviary, Begonia glass house and a fernery. Everything was well looked after and can easily spend at least an hour strolling across the gardens. Free entry and plenty of parking around the perimeter of the garden.

I used Cook Park as the background for a cake smash and it went fantastic. The grounds are beautiful - even in winter. The grass is green, the flowers are bright. There is a playground for the older child to play on while the baby had his photos taken, and the birds in the aviary were fantastic, both kids were obsessed.
There are an abundance of picnic tables, so there's never a shortage of places to sit and enjoy the scenery, and there is parking along all sides of the block so parking is a breeze.

first time I found this park when I'm driving around Orange. it's quite a big for a park with a lot of huge trees. when you have a closer look to the tree, it has a box of description about the tree. apparently some of them is USA origin.
It has aviary park, contain sleepy cockatoos (I really hope they can sleep well 🥺), and some other small colourful birds.
It has female and male toilet. on the way there you can see a water fountain with statue in the middle, some boys pouring water. and there is drinkable water fountain next to it (just a friendly reminder, don't drink from the statue) 😇.

Cook Park truly is a gem in the heart of town. It's amazing how a space so tranquil and peaceful can exist in the midst of all the hustle and bustle.
I particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the park while exploring the different sections, such as the Bagonia greenhouses. It's always fascinating to discover the stories behind these types of public spaces and to see how they have evolved over time.
The park is flat and easy to navigate for people with limited mobility or disabilities.
The stunning old trees are a highlight of the park and add so much character to the space. It's amazing to think about how long they have been there and how much history they have witnessed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to Cook Park to anyone looking for a serene and informative outdoor experience. It's a great place to escape from the chaos of everyday life and connect with nature and history at the same time.

Very nice place to visit on a Sunday afternoon. I love the amount of trees and the shade they provide. Plenty of chairs and open space for play or to relax. A nice rose garden and a free bird enclosure there as well. Pkenty of duck ponds if you would like to feed the ducks and ducklings. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful medium sized park, with lots to see (much preferred than botanic gardens). Autumn colours drifting into winter browns.
Aviary (talking cockatoos, budgerigars, cockatiels, galahs) - seem happy enough for caged birds (cockatoo eager to hole punch a finger). Fernery and Conservatory (full of flowering Begonias) were shut, but could still look in the windows. Guild craft shop lovely to visit (especially if you like slices and jams / chutnies). Trees are magnificent. Roses wilting for winter.

Nice main cellar door within a rustic looking shed with good heating.
Great outdoor areas with sand pit and farm animals for kids to entertain themselves.
Cheese plate was good, might have been elevated a notch further with some truffle honey 🍯 accompanying zucchini pickles and fresh tomato relish from Franklin Road Preserves were used - fantastic. 👍
Easy booking on their website. Allowed “purchase” of tickets for non-drinkers (eg pregnant or designated drivers).

Really warm and inviting cellar door experience. Was pleased that Zac accommodated us at short notice. Good amount of seating inside and out. We had a table outside so glad they had the open fire pits going to keep us warm. Tasting was $15 a head for 6 wines which is on the pricier end. Very good wines although not my preferred in the region. Kids had a great time in the petting zoo and sand pit. Happy with the complimentary Tesla charging stations too.

Absolutely loved the rustic farm vibe of this winery, and it was very welcoming to the kids. It's the perfect place to get out with the family, for a relaxing afternoon with delicious wine and cheese platters. All while sending the kids off to run around, play in the sandpit or pat the animals. Their range of preserved goods is also fantastic, I highly recommend buying a jar of their Zucchini Pickles.

Great information for young and old, definitely worth the trip to Canowindra (pronounced Canowndra). Its story started when an excavator for a new road noticed some unusual markings on a slab of rock. A local bee keeper agreed and contacted the Australian Museum, who confirmed the find as a great set of fossils from the Devonian period - basically a range of now extinct fish from 400 million years ago, most likely trapped together in a lake or Billabong that dried up. The exhibits target the full range of children and adults. There are also picnic tables, toilets and a shop. Entrance is reasonable. And Canowindra is an attractive town.
