A bizarre experience. First, you were greeted with an army of “Dama”(大媽 / aunties)on a stage competing for a sponsored dance competition near the temple entrance. The music was, uh, deafening. Then you would bump into monks paying attention to their mobile phones and locals smoking inside the temple area. There was also a shopping corridor located next to the Temple, littered with run-down shops and stalls selling antiques, as well as vintage comic books and Mao badges from the 60s and 70s of the last centuries. If you were into architecture of centuries-old buildings with an authentic Zen vibe, I am not sure this is the place you are looking for. Free admission though.

I was absolutely blown away by this place. Amazing ancient architecture, plenty tea gardens, flower gardens and places you can sit and enjoy a meal. You can walk around, rent a boat or get a cable car. I love the quaint library for its souvenir ideas. It's full of stunning history. I picked up a pair of handmade shoes among other things. Theres's a little courtyard with stone water tubs where tourists and locals toss in a coin in exchange for happiness. At least this is what I was told! Of course I chucked in a few coins.

Beautiful gardens and Chinese architecture. A visit to this site will give you a real feel of the ancient traditions of China. The gardens are green in winter. But the full colours of the flowers will be experienced in spring and summer.
In winter one should be prepared for temperature's of less than zero even on a sunny day

Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is a remarkable park in China that boasts an enormous 88-meter tall Buddha statue, a magnificent palace, a temple and cultural shows. It is an exceptional location to experience absolute tranquility and peacefulness. The drive towards the park is breathtakingly beautiful, making it essential to take a cab. This spot offers stunning views of the beauty of China and is considered one of the most calming places in Wuxi.
A very tall Buddha statue standing at 88 meters in WuXi, you can actually see it from far away! This place is totally huge, I’d recommend using the cart service if you’re together with elderly. You will be amazed how big it is when you’re closer. You can enter the statue to touch the statue feet as well, though the waiting may vary depending on traffic.
They also got other areas such as the singing fountain that opens up on specific hours with all the beautiful water fountain and music accompanying a show.
Another one is a huge Russian castle that has such amazing art inside the area. I believe some of the rooms inside may be available for a big event as well.
Overall, a great and entertaining trip for 4 to 6 hours or more if you decide to eat in the castle.

Can’t rank this among the best Buddha temple in Asia — especially when visitors could smoke inside the area, drivers of shuttle trailers were allowed to honk, and tour guides could lead tours with speakers. All these distractions affect clarity and purity usually accompanying a typical zen experience.

Probably the most famous sightseeing place for tourists in Wuxi. Several attractions here and some are time specific so check out their website and take note of performance times.
Do yourself a favour and buy a complete route transportation ticket because the park is huge and wasting time walking may result in you queuing up or missing the shows.
Expect huge crowds even during weekdays and do plan to have a vegetarian lunch (not free or part of ticket).

Tianning Temple is a remarkable complex in Jiangsu Province, surrounded by lush gardens and ponds. It boasts a striking 13-storey octagonal pagoda, standing at an impressive height of 153.7 meters - the tallest in China and the world. Visitors can take an elevator to reach the top floor, but there is a fee to pay.
Although it is newly rebuilt in 2007, still quite worth a visit. Spectacular view from the top.

Tianning Temple (天寧寺) is an important building in Jiangsu Province. It attracts visitor for the majestic structure and long history building:
1. The structure feature: this 13-storey octagon shaped temple is 153.7 meter height, which is the highest pagoda in China and in the world. There is an elevator for visitor to the top floor. You have to prepare the money.
2. The history feature: There are about 500 Arhat (羅漢) statues embedded in the both sides of the wall. The artistic level is very high and rare, which is seen as the treasure of the temple.
I recommend visitor can go to the Hongmei Park (紅梅公園) after temple trip. You can stroll in this beautiful park and discover different view for the Tianning Temple.

Decently interesting garden/park with some cool history and architecture from the Ming Dynasty. It's super pretty with different types of bamboo and flowers everywhere, but very crowded in the summer (especially). Jinshan Temple is a well-known religious site established during the Jin Dynasty that offers tours of meditation halls, towers, and pagodas. Despite being less developed than other temples in China, it still carries significant historical significance and is worth exploring. It has been commercialized with various goods and souvenirs available for purchase, although some may be of poor quality. Visitors should note that tickets are expensive and plan accordingly to ensure they can afford the full experience.
I like digging into Myth, Legends, and folklore to dig up the past in what the dark ages might of been like Arthurian Legend is on the top of my list. Amazing place too bad I can never visit I think Legend of the White Snake WAS real in the past and eventually Lady Bai escaped the Leifeng Pagoda to re unite with her sister Xiao Qing yes I do believe they are real spirits not demons but spirits or spirit animal who take form on humans I see Legends about Angels and Gods who also take human form to blend in to prevent people from being afraid of them.

I accidentally discovered that the ancient temple of Jinshan Temple, which was flooded by the sea in the Legend of the White Snake, was actually nearby, so let's stop by and have a look!
There are not many tourists on weekdays. Remember the ticket price is 60 yuan, right? Although the entire temple is not very large, it is built along the hillside. There are quite a few steps to climb. It takes about more than an hour to walk. When you climb up to Fahai Cave, it is just a small room. I don’t know if it is. Fahai is a place for retreat and practice.
If you go all the way to Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, it may not be worth it, but if you pass through Zhenjiang, it is not a bad place to visit.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is a grand and ornately designed complex located in Nanjing, China. The mausoleum pays tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of the founders of modern China. The site features a steep staircase leading to the impressive structure, which was developed between 1926 and 1929. The picturesque region symbolizes Dr. Sun Yat-sen's dedication to the Chinese people and their struggle for independence.
If you have the chance and the ability to spend a day visiting this location I would strongly recommend it, parking is easy and there's nice giftshops/food shops at the very start. The location looks wonderful and once you're at the top you're able to see this amazing view.

Great place to visit, a must go to place to understand the history and contributions of Dr Sun Yat-Sen the first leader of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party of China). He is widely respected by both the people of Taiwan and China.
Can become tiring after you climb to the top and still have many places to explore in this massive park. I recommend to take shuttle busses whenever possible to save energy.
This attraction can become very crowded as there are many tour groups and visitors in general.

Very nice walk. From parking to top is around 25 min. The park around is amazing. It can be very busy. Specially in holidays. If you can walk Oke, then don’t take the electric gold cards. The walk true the Forest is very nice. 👍

Climbing the stairs are worth it, the views are absolutely insane!!
Directions to get there: taxi or metro. Outside metro there’s a shuttle bus to the middle of the mountain which is 10 yuan per person. Then you have to purchase tickets in advance to enter and climb the stairs to the top

A mausoleon for famous Chinese politician Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who has been reviewed as father of Republic of China. To reach the top, it will be a little tough hiking tour. But the view is great. Remember to stay hydrated. It might be easily to get a heat stroke during the summer in Nanjing.

Beautiful place need to cover a lot of distance by walk but worth while. The scenic area from top is better and lots of people on holidays. I visited last week but may be more beautiful in Autumn or Spring season.

It is an extraordinary experience, it is worthwhile spending some time for visiting this site, grades are nice and the sight from the top is wonderful, woods are really beautiful and there are several options to get souvenirs at the entrance. It is very recommendable visit to do.

A beautiful place, worth every steps! The Mausoleum closes at 5 pm., we waited upstairs and could make some beautiful photos without a single person on them. By the way the place is overcrowded at opening hours... I think Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is the nr.1 spot in Nanjing.
The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, located at the southern foot of Purple Mountain in Nanjing, China, is a grand tomb complex built for the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming Dynasty. Construction began in 1381 and was completed in 1405 with an enormous workforce. The mausoleum features a mile-long Sacred Way adorned with statues such as stone camels and elephants leading to the emperor's burial chamber under an artificial hill.
It was a unbelievable nice experience to see, how such a nice place can be built by human beings several hundred years ago. For me it is still a outstanding performance to erect such a nice place without having high technology machines on hand as we have them today.
Appreciate the kindness of the local people and would love to come back to China as soon as possible.

A huge burial ground which you need to be prepared to do a long walk. Beautiful and massive tomb though especially the awesome Stair! The down side is the package for getting in, was ridiculous. Just a sight seeing tour. Just a one time visit trip.

This is a tourist area. This garden opens as early as 6am, so try to get up early because there are several tourist spots to visit on this mountain. These include giant tomb of Ming’s dynasty king, Dr Sun Tomb, the Temple, and the House of China National Party. Time is just enough to visit all these in a day if you get up that early~

The entire compound is really big and is quite a majestic tomb. There are a bunch of animal statues that surround the park that are interesting to look at. Depending on the time of the year that you visit the place, the crowd and the scenery may vary.
I was there in december when it was starting to turn cold in nanjing. The flowers were already gone, but with it the crowd as well.
It is a nice long walk all the way of to the tomb.
Dont expect to see anything spectacular though, as it is just a simple tomb.

Great place to visit. One of my favourite spots in this area of China.
I’d recommend taking the 10RMB shuttle bus from the metro station into the park to save walking.

Mausoleum for Emperor Hong Wu of Ming Dynasty. Ticket cost 70RMB for each person. A traditional emperor’s tomb structure. Trail inside with mythical beast’s statues is amazing. Especially in autumn. One of the worthiest spot to pass by during your trip on Zijin mountain.

Not as big and fancy as Sun Yat Sen's mausoleum. It is a relative new complex, not the original one built at the time of Ming Dinasty, but still beautiful.

It is a piece of historical memory recalling Chinese people's good old times. Good does not mean living at better standard than current one, but means we are still at the top of the world and we do not envy any other one on the world.
People who come to this place should be holding the feel that you are come to visit a tomb and show your respect. Don't treat it as a tour place.
Xuanwu Lake, situated near the Ming-era city walls in Nanjing, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Families, students, and office workers flock to the lake on weekends to enjoy paddle boating and leisurely walks on the causeways connecting the islands. The picturesque surroundings feature grassy fields, gardens, willow trees, and views of Purple Mountain. The area also offers a glimpse of modern Nanjing with its futuristic towers.
Today's Nanjing is really cold ah, and friends about to go to a certain supplier to see, friends suddenly have something to change plans. I had to look around to see if there was a place to go. I always like to go to Xuanwu Lake to walk around, spring and fall as well as winter is the most suitable for walking, chatting with friends place. Today it is snowing in Nanjing, so I can't miss it. I've been enjoying the spring snow by myself, and it's a different flavor.

Going to Jiming Temple always involves a side trip to Xuanwu Lake. Or sometimes it's the other way around.
I love Nanjing as a city, open and tolerant, with places and people I love. I have stayed in this city for 8 years, and when I have the opportunity, I always like to come to Xuanwu Lake to take a walk, blow the wind, and relax.
This season's wind is a little cool, the water of the lake is a little cold. The park was as crowded as ever. In Nanjing, Xuanwu Lake is still to walk a few more times. Feel the passage of time from summer to winter quickly.

Went with my girlfriend today and spent a few hours there. We took a little tour bus for ¥30 each and it lasted about 20-30min I think. They stopped twice for us to get out and the 2nd time was when the tour was over. We walked around the gardens and island all the way to where there was a pagoda. They have boat rides which were too much money and you have to pay to go on the wall which we weren't gonna pay for. Plenty of little souvenir stands and places to eat and drink.

for 40rmb its Poor, you need a valid ID (passports for foreigners) to buy tickets (Photo of Passports is fine too), Nothing inside screams out presidential Palace to me Just a Large residenctial area. mostly a garden and small gift shops. Its pretty boring and you should spend most of your nanjing time doing other activties or gardens rather than this place. Its basically a Garden with a small museum section. There are baggage storages inside as soon as you enter the gate, incase if your doing this before you leave NKG or dont have much time.

Nanjing Presidential Palace (南京總統府) is an historic site which hugely reflects the modern history of China from Ming Dynasty (明朝) to Republic of China (中華民國). This building was the capital of Taiping Kingdom of Heaven (太平天國) and Republic of China (中華民國) as the most important culture heritage. When I strolled this building, I was encompassed with the beautiful and warm historical poetry. It is very recommended for every history fanatics to mark this place in the itinerary.

The site of the Nanjing Confucius Temple; this is a center of Chinese national culture. On the banks of the Qinhuai River, you are able to take river boats from here or even an old fashioned rickshaw ride if you should like. You will be greeted with the prevalent effervescence of Chou Do Fu! as you traverse the multitudes of unique curious shops and arts vendors; hand hammered jewelry, hand pulled confections, and tasty delights which you possibly may have not seen before. Spend the day here and you will find interesting antiques and unique food markets in the vicinity as well. A worthwhile destination.

It is a famous tourist destination in Nanjing, so it is recommended as a must-visit place if you come to Nanjing.
It would be nice to look around along the stream in the center, and if you didn't eat, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a leisurely meal at a restaurant adjacent to the stream and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the shops around sell tourist products, so I didn't have any unusual experiences. There is also a tourist course where you can take a boat along the nearby stream, but I recommend taking it in the evening rather than during the day. It was nice to have a bit of a Hoi An feel in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is a somber museum that commemorates the tragic events of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. This memorial was built to honor over 300,000 victims who were slaughtered during this dark period in history. The exhibits include artifacts from the era such as weapons, eyewitness testimony, and photographs, documenting the horrors of the massacre.
A solemn ceremonial and historical place for this sad tragic history. It gets emotional since watched the movie: John Rabe, and indeed the good deeds by the few symbolize the greatness in humankind when all seems doom, carrying the spirit forward whenever the call of duty rises.
Pre-registration is required, bring passport/ID as well. Spent approx 3 hours going into details.

It's a farce that this place is ranked the #1 attraction on tripadvisor for Nanjing. The museum is of fairly modern construction, and its subject solemn and poignant. That said, there is no way this should be more than a minor stop, when there are so many better places to visit in Nanjing: Xuan Wu Lake Park, the Presidential Palace, the Imperial Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, Sun Yat-Sen's Mausoleum, the old city walls, Zhong Hua Gate park, Nanjing Museum, and more.

A must visit Museum when you visit Nanjing, a recent memory shared amongst the people in remembrance of atrocities committed to the people of Nanjing.
As you walk in you can see the frames of most victims of the Nanjing Massacre and also those whom had survived and still live on with the memories.
You need to book in advance (Free) but recommend to donate some money when you enter. *Foreigners will require a Passport to enter*.
It is truly a sad place, the museum is very detailed with many monuments, pictures and archives exhibited for people to see.

Besides the true pictures taken then, there are real dead bodies and bones buried here.
But from the history we learnt how to prevent this kind of things to happen.

We were not able to enter the main Memorial Hall as we did not realise that advance booking was required. When we tried to book using the QR code provided near the entrance, the Memorial Hall was already fully subscribed. However, we managed to book entry into the Hall of the Three Victories and the hall commemorating the comfort women. We spent all our time in the Hall of Three Victories. It is very educational, even for those who do not read Mandarin. A solemn reminder of the evils of war. May we never forget what horrors can be inflicted upon the world by materialism, covetousness, and hubris.

This is my second time visit and this time with my mom who was born a few years later after the massacre. As a Chinese citizen we've basically all gained quite some knowledge via media while the actual visit here is still truly, profoundly heartbreaking and shocking.
Besides the historical value, the hall itself is well designed, offering a holistic experience with some interactive sessions too. We listened to the tutorial audio along the way and that's quite helpful.
Its almost hard for our generation to relate as we now in a different age but those suffering times should never be forgotten. 🕊️ 🙏 🇨🇳

(Translated by Google) Bao Xiaosu Gong Temple is located in Hefei City, Anhui Province, China. It is the tomb of Bao Zheng, an upright official of the Song Dynasty. Bao Gong's deeds of being an upright and honest official were quite famous in ancient China. They were constantly passed down and translated into the artistic level of dramas or novels. In a period of social turmoil and unclear national politics, the image of an upright official that the people longed for was one of the windows for spiritual sustenance. . The Bao Cemetery (including the graves of related family members near Qi) was robbed during the rule of the Jin people. The descendants of the Bao family collected the remains of their ancestors and buried them elsewhere. The original place was changed to a suspicious tomb. In the 1950s, due to poor conditions, The descendants moved and buried Bao Zheng's remains. In 1973, the local government presided over scientific excavation and re-clearing. During the reconstruction in 1987, some of the remains were reburied back to the current site for future generations to pay tribute to.

A must-see. Most people visit this place to walk on the glass bridge, but it has a lot more to offer. The glass bridge itself is interestingly built, using big glass plates. However, since many people have walked on them, their transparency is a bit lower than expected. Do take the time to visit the grand canyon as well. It showcases nice extremely blue rivers, special fauna and has some typically Chinese extra's, such as a slide, a death ride (both for 30 yuan pp) and a free boat ride. Worth the time.
Cedric Bru — Google review
Good views from the glass bridge, although it's not entirely glass, only glass pieces within the metal bridge. The bridge is not as scary as it seems, people just made a big deal about it. Just walk through it! Hugeeeeee crowds even though it's not peak season, you won't be able to get a picture without people in the background. Walking sticks or huge-sized cameras are not allowed.
Real challenge comes when walking the 1680 stairs down to the canyon. Not recommended for people who're not physically fit in case your legs go weak.
The walk along the river is easy with walking paths nicely laid. Get prepared with umbrella or raincoats as you'll get wet while walking along the river due to multiple waterfalls along.
A boat ride to end the visit to the grand canyon. Mountain/canyon view is good too.
Recommended to visit once in your lifetime for the magnificent views despite of the never ending crowds.

If you want to know whether you are afraid of height or no, then you should try this one haha. The bridge connected two-top of the hills, but the glass is only placed in the mid section of the bridge hehe.
It's quite entertaining, as it is the first for me to step on this glass bridge. It sometimes can be too crowded, but managed to take photos on some of the glasses when not many ppl ard haha.
You need to buy the ticket at least one day in advance, and you need to enter at the allocated time. If not, your ticket will be gone. Just bring some essential things, no DSLR, no mirrorless. Or you need to put this on the storage room, and get this back when you finished (the entrance and the exit is on a two different area).
After glass bridge, theres also a trekking at the Zhangjiajie grand canyon (optional)
