Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders
The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is a somber museum that commemorates the tragic events of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. This memorial was built to honor over 300,000 victims who were slaughtered during this dark period in history. The exhibits include artifacts from the era such as weapons, eyewitness testimony, and photographs, documenting the horrors of the massacre.
A solemn ceremonial and historical place for this sad tragic history. It gets emotional since watched the movie: John Rabe, and indeed the good deeds by the few symbolize the greatness in humankind when all seems doom, carrying the spirit forward whenever the call of duty rises.
Pre-registration is required, bring passport/ID as well. Spent approx 3 hours going into details.
Clement Leong — Google review
It's a farce that this place is ranked the #1 attraction on tripadvisor for Nanjing. The museum is of fairly modern construction, and its subject solemn and poignant. That said, there is no way this should be more than a minor stop, when there are so many better places to visit in Nanjing: Xuan Wu Lake Park, the Presidential Palace, the Imperial Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, Sun Yat-Sen's Mausoleum, the old city walls, Zhong Hua Gate park, Nanjing Museum, and more.
Jian Yi Zhang — Google review
Very broad area, with great monuments and archive info. also has a park like section just to sit back and and take in what happened all those years ago. The setout is great sometimes theres entry fee amost of the time its free.

A must visit Museum when you visit Nanjing, a recent memory shared amongst the people in remembrance of atrocities committed to the people of Nanjing.
As you walk in you can see the frames of most victims of the Nanjing Massacre and also those whom had survived and still live on with the memories.
You need to book in advance (Free) but recommend to donate some money when you enter. *Foreigners will require a Passport to enter*.
It is truly a sad place, the museum is very detailed with many monuments, pictures and archives exhibited for people to see.
“remember history and cherish peace, so as to create a better future”
Kuan-Yu Chen — Google review
It's really a sad place, honestly.
Besides the true pictures taken then, there are real dead bodies and bones buried here.
But from the history we learnt how to prevent this kind of things to happen.
If you come to NanJing, you must come visit this museum.
Garlon Zhang — Google review
We were not able to enter the main Memorial Hall as we did not realise that advance booking was required. When we tried to book using the QR code provided near the entrance, the Memorial Hall was already fully subscribed. However, we managed to book entry into the Hall of the Three Victories and the hall commemorating the comfort women. We spent all our time in the Hall of Three Victories. It is very educational, even for those who do not read Mandarin. A solemn reminder of the evils of war. May we never forget what horrors can be inflicted upon the world by materialism, covetousness, and hubris.
J.J. Lim — Google review
This is my second time visit and this time with my mom who was born a few years later after the massacre. As a Chinese citizen we've basically all gained quite some knowledge via media while the actual visit here is still truly, profoundly heartbreaking and shocking.
Besides the historical value, the hall itself is well designed, offering a holistic experience with some interactive sessions too. We listened to the tutorial audio along the way and that's quite helpful.
Its almost hard for our generation to relate as we now in a different age but those suffering times should never be forgotten. 🕊️ 🙏 🇨🇳

To better understand a significant and very tragic event in history, it's definitely worth a visit. Ensure you book in advance online. The entire memorial is done in a way which is factual but equally harrowing presenting what must be one of the worst and most heinous times in modern history. Not recommended for children.

You should definitely visit this museum, it shows what people are capable of and should be a warning. Right now, the issue is more important than ever

Didn't get to see it as the museum and facilities were closed for this week and will potentially reopen next one. Nothing was mentioned on online in their webpage. Tried also booking tickets in advance but the link didn't work. Waste of time , causing bad reps with tourists .
The site of the Nanjing Confucius Temple; this is a center of Chinese national culture. On the banks of the Qinhuai River, you are able to take river boats from here or even an old fashioned rickshaw ride if you should like. You will be greeted with the prevalent effervescence of Chou Do Fu! as you traverse the multitudes of unique curious shops and arts vendors; hand hammered jewelry, hand pulled confections, and tasty delights which you possibly may have not seen before. Spend the day here and you will find interesting antiques and unique food markets in the vicinity as well. A worthwhile destination.

It is a famous tourist destination in Nanjing, so it is recommended as a must-visit place if you come to Nanjing.
It would be nice to look around along the stream in the center, and if you didn't eat, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a leisurely meal at a restaurant adjacent to the stream and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the shops around sell tourist products, so I didn't have any unusual experiences. There is also a tourist course where you can take a boat along the nearby stream, but I recommend taking it in the evening rather than during the day. It was nice to have a bit of a Hoi An feel in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Historical place in Nanjing that's not to be missed. Many parts of the palace ground really present an authentic feel of a era gone-by. Beautiful lake view and long passageways with full canopy tall trees along both sides given good shades.

for 40rmb its Poor, you need a valid ID (passports for foreigners) to buy tickets (Photo of Passports is fine too), Nothing inside screams out presidential Palace to me Just a Large residenctial area. mostly a garden and small gift shops. Its pretty boring and you should spend most of your nanjing time doing other activties or gardens rather than this place. Its basically a Garden with a small museum section. There are baggage storages inside as soon as you enter the gate, incase if your doing this before you leave NKG or dont have much time.

Nanjing Presidential Palace (南京總統府) is an historic site which hugely reflects the modern history of China from Ming Dynasty (明朝) to Republic of China (中華民國). This building was the capital of Taiping Kingdom of Heaven (太平天國) and Republic of China (中華民國) as the most important culture heritage. When I strolled this building, I was encompassed with the beautiful and warm historical poetry. It is very recommended for every history fanatics to mark this place in the itinerary.

This could be the one and only presidential palace of the Republic of China that is open to public. Admission is ¥40 (free for City Park Annual Pass holder), discounted ticket of ¥20 available for adolescents, students, elders, soldiers and disabled.
Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is a grand and ornately designed complex located in Nanjing, China. The mausoleum pays tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of the founders of modern China. The site features a steep staircase leading to the impressive structure, which was developed between 1926 and 1929. The picturesque region symbolizes Dr. Sun Yat-sen's dedication to the Chinese people and their struggle for independence.
If you have the chance and the ability to spend a day visiting this location I would strongly recommend it, parking is easy and there's nice giftshops/food shops at the very start. The location looks wonderful and once you're at the top you're able to see this amazing view.

Great place to understand the history and contributions of Dr Sun Yat-Sen the first leader of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party of China). He is widely respected by both the people of Taiwan and China.
Is actually very tiring after you climb to the top but it beautiful from the top, there's still many places to explore in this massive park. There's also shuttle busses to save energy if it becomes really tiring... Not able to go close to Dr sun statue when on top thou, just to walk round it n no photography too...
This attraction can become very crowded as there are many tour groups and visitors in general

Climbing the stairs are worth it, the views are absolutely insane!!
Directions to get there: taxi or metro. Outside metro there’s a shuttle bus to the middle of the mountain which is 10 yuan per person. Then you have to purchase tickets in advance to enter and climb the stairs to the top

A mausoleon for famous Chinese politician Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who has been reviewed as father of Republic of China. To reach the top, it will be a little tough hiking tour. But the view is great. Remember to stay hydrated. It might be easily to get a heat stroke during the summer in Nanjing.

A beautiful place, worth every steps! The Mausoleum closes at 5 pm., we waited upstairs and could make some beautiful photos without a single person on them. By the way the place is overcrowded at opening hours... I think Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is the nr.1 spot in Nanjing.
Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is a remarkable park in China that boasts an enormous 88-meter tall Buddha statue, a magnificent palace, a temple and cultural shows. It is an exceptional location to experience absolute tranquility and peacefulness. The drive towards the park is breathtakingly beautiful, making it essential to take a cab. This spot offers stunning views of the beauty of China and is considered one of the most calming places in Wuxi.
A very tall Buddha statue standing at 88 meters in WuXi, you can actually see it from far away! This place is totally huge, I’d recommend using the cart service if you’re together with elderly. You will be amazed how big it is when you’re closer. You can enter the statue to touch the statue feet as well, though the waiting may vary depending on traffic.
They also got other areas such as the singing fountain that opens up on specific hours with all the beautiful water fountain and music accompanying a show.
Another one is a huge Russian castle that has such amazing art inside the area. I believe some of the rooms inside may be available for a big event as well.
Overall, a great and entertaining trip for 4 to 6 hours or more if you decide to eat in the castle.
Andre Bastary — Google review
Can’t rank this among the best Buddha temple in Asia — especially when visitors could smoke inside the area, drivers of shuttle trailers were allowed to honk, and tour guides could lead tours with speakers. All these distractions affect clarity and purity usually accompanying a typical zen experience.

The Grand Buddha is impressive and majestic; yet exudes a sense of peace, calm and tranquility. It is located on the north shore of Lake Tai, near Wuxi, Jiangsu. Standing at Standing at 88 metres, it is the largest bronze Buddha in the world and one of the largest Buddha statues in China and also in the world.

Probably the most famous sightseeing place for tourists in Wuxi. Several attractions here and some are time specific so check out their website and take note of performance times.
Do yourself a favour and buy a complete route transportation ticket because the park is huge and wasting time walking may result in you queuing up or missing the shows.
Expect huge crowds even during weekdays and do plan to have a vegetarian lunch (not free or part of ticket).

Jinshan Temple is a well-known religious site established during the Jin Dynasty that offers tours of meditation halls, towers, and pagodas. Despite being less developed than other temples in China, it still carries significant historical significance and is worth exploring. It has been commercialized with various goods and souvenirs available for purchase, although some may be of poor quality. Visitors should note that tickets are expensive and plan accordingly to ensure they can afford the full experience.
I like digging into Myth, Legends, and folklore to dig up the past in what the dark ages might of been like Arthurian Legend is on the top of my list. Amazing place too bad I can never visit I think Legend of the White Snake WAS real in the past and eventually Lady Bai escaped the Leifeng Pagoda to re unite with her sister Xiao Qing yes I do believe they are real spirits not demons but spirits or spirit animal who take form on humans I see Legends about Angels and Gods who also take human form to blend in to prevent people from being afraid of them.

I accidentally discovered that the ancient temple of Jinshan Temple, which was flooded by the sea in the Legend of the White Snake, was actually nearby, so let's stop by and have a look!
There are not many tourists on weekdays. Remember the ticket price is 60 yuan, right? Although the entire temple is not very large, it is built along the hillside. There are quite a few steps to climb. It takes about more than an hour to walk. When you climb up to Fahai Cave, it is just a small room. I don’t know if it is. Fahai is a place for retreat and practice.
If you go all the way to Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, it may not be worth it, but if you pass through Zhenjiang, it is not a bad place to visit.

Ge Garden is a serene and renowned garden that showcases bamboo, orchids, laurels and rock displays representing the four seasons. It is located in the heart of a historically significant city and offers insight into Chinese culture and language through its intricate details. A guide is recommended to fully appreciate the gardens, which include unique features such as four hills and rare varieties of bamboo. The garden also features an impressive ancient house with detailed interior design.

Ge Garden is an amazing treasure in the heart of a historical city. To understand the Chinese culture and language is to understand almost everything you see here. Understanding the gardens is a major component of this. I recommend a guide.

Decently interesting garden/park with some cool history and architecture from the Ming Dynasty. It's super pretty with different types of bamboo and flowers everywhere, but very crowded in the summer (especially). Known for it's Four Seasons Mountains, which are big rockery builds in each of the corners of the garden which mirror the four seasons.

Nanchan Temple is a renowned Buddhist shrine located in Wuxi that features a stunning historic yellow temple exhibiting a magnificent 7-tiered pagoda and an impressive golden Buddha statue. The temple opens its doors to visitors from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily, allowing access only within these hours. Additionally, the vibrant night-time illumination adds to the beauty of this place of worship, making it even more mesmerizing after sunset.
There are several Buddhist temples in Wuxi. Nanchan Temple is one of them. It's from 8:30 to 5:30. Without this time you can't enter inside. It's become more Beautiful at night. Lovely place.

A bizarre experience. First, you were greeted with an army of “Dama”(大媽 / aunties)on a stage competing for a sponsored dance competition near the temple entrance. The music was, uh, deafening. Then you would bump into monks paying attention to their mobile phones and locals smoking inside the temple area. There was also a shopping corridor located next to the Temple, littered with run-down shops and stalls selling antiques, as well as vintage comic books and Mao badges from the 60s and 70s of the last centuries. If you were into architecture of centuries-old buildings with an authentic Zen vibe, I am not sure this is the place you are looking for. Free admission though.

Located in Tianjin, People's Park is a favorite among locals for its traditional Chinese design featuring temples and bridges that blend seamlessly with the peaceful environment. Situated in the Ao Cheng area near Tianjin Foreign Studies University, this well-maintained park boasts captivating gardens, sculptures, and a picturesque lake. While winter brings cold temperatures as low as minus 8 degrees, visitors can experience the unique thrill of walking on the frozen lake and river.
Fascinating, very clean, strategically located and easily accessible. Well maintained with interesting gardens, sculptures and beautiful lake. However, during winter it's very cold. Temperature can dropped to minus 8 . The interesting thing is that visitors can walk across the lake and river as they are frozen. It can be a different feeling of thrill all together to be able to play and walk on the surface of the frozen lake and river despite the trees have shed their leaves. The surrounding is amazing with beautiful tall buildings standing majestically from the lake side to a far.

Tianjin Binhai Aircraft Carrier Theme Park is a large military amusement park in the Binhai New Area, featuring the retired aircraft carrier Kiev from the Russian navy. The park integrates marine military and Russian culture, offering water action shows, car shows, dance performances, and parades. Visitors can tour the aircraft carrier and explore a Russia-inspired town with various dining options.
It's like Russia but in China! Good and entertaining water action show and the action car show with excellent performers. There are dance shows and a parade as well. The price of admission is about 220rmb(about 34 USD) per person. Some say it's a bit pricey but you get the water show, car show, dance show, a parade, the aircraft carrier tour and get to hang out in a nice Russia inspired town with lots of food to choose from. I think it's worth the trip if you happen to be in the TEDA/Tianjin area.

I visited here 5 years ago. An old Soviet Air Craft Carrier is built as a museum, where you have chance to see how a giant ship look like. (Translated by Google) I give this place full marks! Let’s talk about the ticket price first. It’s 100 for adults in peak season, half price for students, and only 25 in off-season! It can be said to be very conscientious, and the quality is also very high, especially in the wild animal area where there are many animals. There are about 6 or 7 of each type of lions, tigers, and bears. Unlike other zoos where the animals can't move. The animals here are very active, at least they are walking around. The lion rubbed against our cage car, and a tiger came over and lay on the railway track. The sika deer are free-range, so you can get close to them, and no one charges. I also I took a photo with the sika deer. The only thing that needs to be improved is the safety issue. The wolves seem to be free-range...really won't escape? The two iron gates in the beast area actually open and close at the same time? ? ? Then there is no point in building two doors! ! !

This is where the famous wall ends at the sea. Most of this wall has been rebuilt but there are still some areas where they kept the original brick intact and protected. About 50rmb charge for the wall, beach side and areas around. Other activities cost a little extra but I didn't do them. Great place for taking pictures and lots of walking around. There is also a nice maze you can enjoy getting lost in. About 1.5hrs from Beijing or Tianjin on the bullet train. A day spent here should be enough.

Great site and scenic spot. Lots of good picture spots. Cheap entrance fee of 20 RMB as of 04/2019. The beach is beautiful and the breeze from the sea refreshing. The part of the wall is rather small but there is a reconstructed garrison and village. It's easy to get there by Bus 25 (have small change ready because it's only 2 RMB and the driver does not go be change) from the train station. In Apt l it was almost empty and really nice to explore so I cannot say what it is like when packed. Worth a day trip from Beijing.

Laolongtou ('Old Dragon's Head') is where the east end of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty meets the Bo Sea. It's part of the Shanhai Pass Great Wall defense system covering mountains, sea, plain, and town.
The Great Wall at Laolongtou is like a huge dragon lying with its head on the beach and mouth in the sea. The square watchtower on the beach looks uncannily like a raised reptilian skull when viewed at a distance, along with the seaward wall extension, resembling a mouth, and the narrower landward wall resembling a neck.

Chinatown Incheon is a bustling tourist and cultural district known for its Chinese-owned restaurants and businesses. Located in South Korea, it is the only official Chinatown in the country and has been around since 1884. The area boasts architectural flourishes, including three gateways or paifangs, with a giant memorial archway greeting visitors upon arrival.
Very impressed by the cleanliness and how busy it was on a super cold day. I enjoyed walking around and trying different foods. One thing definitely stood out, because there was a very long line for this delicacy, it's this dessert that was made right in front of us, see photos. Very delicious. See Pics

Incheon Chinatown is a vibrant and culturally rich enclave that offers a delightful escape into the heart of Chinese tradition within South Korea. Nestled in the city of Incheon, this Chinatown boasts a colorful tapestry of history, architecture, and culinary delights.
The distinctive red gates and ornate decorations welcome visitors to a bustling atmosphere where traditional meets contemporary. Strolling through the narrow streets, one encounters a fusion of Chinese and Korean influences in the architecture, creating a unique and charming ambiance.
The highlight of Incheon Chinatown is undeniably its culinary offerings. From mouthwatering dim sum to delectable noodles, the array of dishes available caters to diverse palates. The street food vendors add an extra layer of authenticity, tempting passersby with aromatic delights.
Moreover, the area hosts various cultural events and festivals, providing a dynamic experience for visitors. The lively parades and performances showcase the vibrant spirit of the Chinese community.
While Incheon Chinatown might not be as expansive as its counterparts in other cities, its intimate setting and authentic charm make it a worthwhile destination. Whether indulging in flavorful cuisine or immersing oneself in cultural festivities, Incheon Chinatown promises a memorable and enriching experience for those seeking a taste of China in South Korea.

If you are coming on a weekday, you may get lucky and park in China Town. But don't count on it if you plan your visit for the weekend. It's nice to walk around the streets or the nearby park, get something to snack on, learn about Chinese history, buy souvenirs, and so on. Depending on the time you arrive, different stores and restaurants will be open - bakeries and restaurants are usually open early, food stalls are more of an evening activity. There are even activities for kids, playgrounds, games, and gatcha machines.

As someone who lived in China, the 3 times I have visited the place, I have never really felt it was a Chinatown. I have to admit I have never visited a Chinatown anywhere else. But neighborhoods like Kondae subway station are much more like the real China.

Shame, this China Town is not nearer the centre, but historically, this is where the first settlement was so appropriate. In all fairness, I have been to better China Towns, but see for yourself. It's quite small. If you have an afternoon spare, visit China Town Freedom Square, park and if you have children, the colourful village right next door where there are lots of photo opportunities with Disney characters etc. There is a view of the harbour from the pagoda and park on the hill offers welcome shade and cool breeze

Very nice hiking trail. Very safe, outstanding views and clean.
The hike is easy and well secured. Absolutely no need for cable cars or shuttles. Bring 6 to 7 hours time to cover the complete route.
Overall it was not crowded, except for the area around the glass walk since it is easy reachable by cable car and many people just seem to go there and nowhere else.
Entrance fee was a very fair 80 CNY. If you take shuttles and cable cars you can easily spent 3 times more.

With over 1,800 cherry blossom trees and an array of other flora like forsythia shrubs and weeping willows, the park transforms into a fairy tale-like setting during spring.
Good place to go for a walk in Ilsan. It is also famous for cherryblossom during the spring so if you live in Ilsan, we highly recommend you to come visit here with your friends or family.

I love this park. You can bike, skateboard, walk or run. I lived in the neighborhood since the park was just being built. Now the trees are so big and luscious.

Beautiful place. Many things to do like walking, cycling and other attractions like cactus exbhit, rose arches. There are shops around park renting bicycles if you don't have oneThere is a large parking space and convinience store too. Easily reachable by public transport.

The only reason I visited this lake again to see the pretty hydrangeas. As you see, I visited here a bit late, the hydrangeas already burnt? by the hot 🌞. Besides the pretty hydrangeas, there are many other photo spots as well. If you plan to go here, better arrive before 12pm, otherwise, you're gonna find line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot. Even if you can enter the parking lot, you have to keep circling the parking lot until you find free space.

I visit Ilsan Lake Park in the autumn season. The place is so beautiful, peaceful, and lovely. I visit here due to Kim Namjoon post on his IG. The place is that good.

Although this place is an artificial lake park, it seems like natural park because of lots of tree. You can enjoy this really big park in various ways such as riding a bicycle, walking and taking a rest, etc. You can also see various flowers, especially roses on Jun. This is the best place to spend time with people you love in Goyang.

Ilsan Lake park is so beautiful, I really recommend coming here especially this time (spring) as there is a flower festival. If you can try to look at it in the day and night to get a different view.
MyWorld360 — Google review
Beautiful lake park, good for walking or a picnic. You can walk around it for at least a 1.9 km session. I didn't try this time but there are water bikes available for rental, 3 people for 15,000 won. The lake houses huge fish. Theres an event hall in the park grounds, hosting a flower festival when I visited. Great for kids.

The Yalu River Broken Bridge is a famous landmark and tourist attraction in Dandong, China. Built in 1911, the bridge was partially destroyed during the Korean War by Americans. Today, it functions as a promenade and lookout for visitors to walk along until the end of the broken part of the bridge. The location holds significant historical events that draw people to visit and explore with many restaurants available nearby.
Yalu River Broken Bridge is located in China's Dandong city , bordering Nort Koreas Sinuiju city.
The bridge is damaged by Americans during the Korean War of 1950-53. From the broken bridge, you can see North Korea about 900 meters away. A very good historical place.

very cool place. The bridge was bombed by the US during the Karean war. We only visit china side. But we are able to see the north Karean.

Famous damaged bridge between China and North Korea in Dandong. Americans destroyed it during Korean War. Some parts of bridge is open. You can walk along until the end of broken bridge. Nowadays very popular tourist attraction point, well known and visited. This location exists on those historic events. Therefore many restaurants are there. You will get to Dandong by railway. We started from Shenyang to Dandong., maybe it took about 1 and a half hour. Train very modern and fast with air conditioner. So the travel was relaxing. Sometimes North Koreans speak to you. They advertise Korean Snow Mountains for skiing.
Bernd Krohn — Google review
I remember very well the feeling to have the first sight to the bridge the day before we crossed the river.
Lueder Meyer — Google review
The North Korean ferris wheel is actually a 2D replica of a ferris wheel. That's just so gorgeous!
Lionel Doolan — Google review
If you are one of the few Westerners travelling to North Korea via the border town of Dandong, you will undoubtedly pull into the train station. And if you have some spare time turn right when leaving the station and walk a few blocks to the river and have your first look at North Korea and the Yalu River Broken Bridge. And, spoiler alert, there is no tension. It was in fact quite peaceful and deserted when we came to visit in the morning. A few security guards but they were disinterested in us. We mostly wandered and took pictures of statues and monuments and the bridge of course with the Hermit Kingdom on the other side. Certainly, this is where one can visually see the stark difference between the third world conditions of North Korea on one side of the Yalu River and the affluent, more commercialized condition on the other.
As for the bridge itself, you can pay an admission fee to walk to the end but we chose not to as there didn't seem to be much to attract us to walk on the bridge halfway across the river, especially since in less than an hour we would be taking the train all the way across anyway. Still, a much photographed location with huge political connotations.

The Third Tunnel, also known as the Third Tunnel of Aggression, is one of four tunnels dug by North Korea with the suspected intention of invading South Korea. It has the potential to transport a large number of soldiers at an alarming rate and there may be other undiscovered tunnels. Despite North Korea's claim that it was part of a coal mine, evidence found on the tunnel walls suggests otherwise.
We took the first bus which is 9.20am and manage to beat the crowd. We were very fortunate to take the monorail down the third tunnel and it was a incredible experience. There was no photography allow and all camera and mobile devices had to be kept at the locker. The tunnel is really low in height and strongly recommend to keep your blue safety helmet on as I knock my head against the ceiling for a few time. It is not suitable for people that are claustrophobia.
Jianhui — Google review
It's definitely an interesting experience. It's not for those that have bad back or knee issues. Be prepared to bend over walking if your tall. Its something I'm glad I did for the experience, but while I thought it was interesting, my lungs didn't. But I'm at least glad I did it. It's a good piece to the history lesson within the DMZ. The outside area is cool though.

Reflecting on my last visit to The Third Tunnel in 2018, I was amazed by the tourist-friendly enhancements during my recent trip. Unlike before, where we had to navigate stairs, this time a monorail made exploration effortless. Although there are still some steps, the overall experience is now much more relaxed. The site's historical significance remains a compelling reason to visit, offering a deeper understanding of Korea's past. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking an enriching experience, The Third Tunnel is definitely worth a visit, now more accessible and enjoyable than ever before.

It was our first experience walking into such steep tunnel. Going down is not a problem but walking back up could take some effort and stamina. It is best not to walk into it if you have any respiratory issues such as asthma. We were not allowed to take photo in tunnel

Another great visit in the DMZ. Warning 358M steep downhill walk that descends 75M below ground. If you're tall 250 meter walk hunched over. You get to see the ridiculous North korean garden at the end.... At the end you are roughly 150 meters from the actual border. Farthest you can get into the fenced DMZ.

It's an amazing experience.
You get to go into the 3rd tunnel (you cannot take photos because it's a military site).
The guide will give you history of the Koreans and how it was divided.

We booked a tour through Trip Advisor called Best DMZ tours third tunnel. It was an action packed day and I learned so much. The tunnel was dug by hand and with dynamite by North Korea. South Korea found out and has sealed the tunnel, but we got to walk down into tunnel. It’s a steep incline, no steps. You have to crouch down the whole time as the ceiling is very short, they do give you helmets to wear to protect your head. You are not able to take any pictures while you’re in the tunnels.

Unique experience for DMZ tour.
As foreigners, we joined tour group.
Photo is not allowed in the third tunnel and they provide a helmet.
Joint security area was suspended because of defection of a US soldier.
Highly recommended.

The "Half Day DMZ tour" seemed very touristy and left us pretty disappointed.
Most things on this tour are very commercialized to gain tourist money from this world famous conflict.
Almost the only authentic thing on the tour was this tunnel. All attractions around this tunnel are Disney like (DMZ sign, life size plastic soldiers in uniforms,...).
Considering the tunnel, basically you descend down to see a simple primitive tunnel of 200-300 m length and that's it, but again it's original. It was dug by North to attack South along with few another tunnels. The story how it was found is very interesting.
Beware, if claustrophobic don't go down. Same applies if your not in good physical shape - the path down is very steep and long. Many of us got breathless (including me) on the way back up. No photos down, you must leave all your belonging in lockers
Dejan Braki — Google review
Very interesting place to visit! The decent was easy but the walk back up was steep. If you're taller than 5 feet the be ready to hunch over while you walk the actual tunnel. The hard hat yhrn give you is a life saver.

A good place to visit. Tunnel walk was an experience. You have to be kind of fit for the walk. If you are tall, it requires slight bending down. It's a very steep uphill walk back out of the tunnel.

Found this place to be the nicest of all the places I've visited with the DMZ tour. The tunnel is an experience on it's own and is definitely a thing one must do visiting in Seoul. Do mind that you are required to climb a steep tunnel of approx. 350m upwards at the end to get out. Mobile devices are not allowed in the tunnel.

The Third Tunnel of Aggression, also known simply as the Third Tunnel, is one of four known tunnels under the border between North Korea and South Korea, extending south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Discovered in 1978, it is considered part of North Korea's infiltration and invasion preparations. The tunnel is about 1.7 kilometers long, 2 meters high, and 2 meters wide. It runs through bedrock at a depth of about 73 meters below ground and was designed to facilitate a sudden invasion by North Korean forces, potentially allowing thousands of soldiers to pass through per hour along with light weaponry.Constructed by North Korea, the tunnel was discovered following a tip from a North Korean defector. North Korea initially denied its existence and later claimed it was part of a coal mining operation, even going so far as to paint the walls with black coal dust to support this claim. However, geological evidence disproved this, as there were no coal deposits in the area.
Make sure you're in good shape to walk it!

An interesting experience! Was a bit physically demanding trecking back up from the tunnel, just a warning!
Also, you cannot take photos in the tunnel, but they have free lockers for your belongings.

The only place where you can actually enter the DMZ is here, underground. It's the closest you can get to the border too.
It was about 20 minutes return to do the walk, and if you are more than 150cm you will have to do a lot of bending over to not hit your head. They do give you a helmet though.
It was certainly worth going underground just to experience the tunnel. There is underground spring water to drink at the bottom.
We went there with VIP tours and our host Moon was fantastic.

It is a very interesting tour to learn how the North Korea Army digs the tunnels as an attempt to infiltrate the South if they haven't been caught.

Going into the tunnel was more physically challenging than we expected. Descending to the base of the tunnel is easy. Walking along the tunnel is extremely tiring for tall people. The actual tunnel is only 160cm (5 feet 3 inches) high. So anyone taller than that will have to walk along the entire length of the tunnel while bending forwards. If you are a tall person with back problems, DO NOT attempt this. I’m 6 feet tall and was extremely tired after bending and walking for 20 minutes. After all that, we had to climb up (walk upwards on a 30 degree slope) for 20 minutes to reach the outside. Tiring but a great experience.
Sadly, they do not allow you to take pictures inside. You have to leave your bags and phones in safe lockers at the entrance.
The provide everyone with hard hats so that you don’t hurt your head inside the tunnel.
